Best Western Hotel Regency Inn & Suites, Gonzales

This hotel is convenient and easily accessible. The grounds were well kept, the lobby was clean, the front desk young lady was polite, friendly,and sympathetic to the need of a senior citizen. She went out of her way to find and deliver a step stool to my room so I wouldn't have any problem getting on and off their tallbed! I traveled alone and felt very comfortable and safe.

Room smelled horrible like cheap perfume, flies were everywhere and found a dead bug in our bed. Very disappointed for the price I paid, I was expecting a higher end experience. The bed was hard and there were stray cats trying to get in our room when we opened the door.

Please believe that it is never our intention to have a guest leave unhappy. We would much rather like to make it as pleasant of a stay as we can.

This is the second Thanksgiving that we have stayed at this Best Western in Gonzales when visiting friends nearby. The desk staff if very friendly, but also professional. The location is good and near to anything we needed. Breakfast, with tacos from a nearby cafe, made our stay special. Our only regret is that the cafe is closed on Thanksgiving Day and, as we learned last year, we had to make do with waffles. We will return.

My husband's family is from Gonzales, Tx and each yr we go about 3-4 times, I have always liked staying at the Best Western it is a nice hotel, pool, and they are one of the few hotel chains that are PET FRIENDLY. So this yr I reserved 4 rooms (via priceline.com) So 2 days before my daughter was not going to make it up on Sat due to an E.R. So I called price line and explained the problem and they call BW Mgr. Mr. Patel said NO Refunds, So I asked if we could just change the date since we are going back in 2 wks Mgr. Mr. Patel said NO.My daughter had to email w/copy of her ID and give the names of who she would give her room to while at her she was dealing with her E.R. So we get there around 2 pm we live in Houston, we pull in and I go to check in and I'm told they are NOT PET friendly I have my 2 small dogs. girl at the front desk called mgr. Mr. Patel and he stuck firmly behind the not pets, so I had to drive around Gonzales to find a place to house my pets.. This will be the last time I stay at this Best Western and again and I will be leery to book at any BW in the future. By the way the Manager Mr. Patel never once come out to explain or apologize He hid behind a camera, phone and his employee. THE BW IN GONZALES JUST LOST A WHOLE LOT OF BUSINESS, My family is huge and we go spend a lot of time in Gonzales.

Hi leroymisty. I am so very sorry to hear/read about the very unfortunate incident that you encountered. On behalf of our GM, Mr. Patel and our entire staff, I apologize. Our hands are often tied on what we are able to do when a room is Prepaid 3 months in advance to a 3rd Party. They have certain policies in place for those types of reservations, and being non-cancelable is often a strict stipulation to get a deep discount such as you did. We always encourage our guest to book directly with our local office. This gives us more leverage on making last minute changes. I sincerely hope that your daughter is well, and that the emergency situation has passed; and that your fur babies were well taken care of. I checked with Priceline to be sure that they do not list us as a Pet Friendly hotel, as we have never been one. I also hope that you will not hold ill will towards the BW brand, or Mr. Patel in regards to this. Being the owner/GM, his schedule differs from the clerks, and so he is not always quickly available in person. However, if you read our reviews, you will see that he is a very wonderful person. The Best Western Regency Inn & Suites provides functional accommodations in a small town. Check in was easy, staff was courteous and helpful, the room was clean, the A/C worked fine, the wi-fi was adequate, and the pool was a nice respite from the heat. The bed was comfortable, but it definitely had body impressions in the mattress. The fridge in my room also froze the one thing I put into it, but I'm sure if I had talked to the staff about it, they would have provided a solution. It just wasn't that important to me on this trip. I didn't eat breakfast here, so I'm unable to comment on that. One thing to keep in mind here is that while many Best Westerns are similar in class to La Quintas or Holiday Inn Express, this one is very basic and feels more like a Motel 6 or similar, all the way down to the soap and shampoo dispensers in the shower. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, and I would stay here again because it is well kept, but it is something to keep in mind as far as expectations are concerned. All in all, while there was nothing here that wowed me, it was definitely an overall pleasant stay, and I appreciate the management and staff for providing a clean and comfortable experience.

I recently stayed at this hotel because my plumbing was being repaired and we didn't have water. I had worked all day, my son was at school all day, and we had a cub scout meeting afterwards and didn't find out about no water till we got home at 9 pm. We checked in at another hotel only to find out after we had attempted to take a shower that they were having plumbing issues and had no hot water. We called and made a reservation late at night and arrived in our pajamas at this hotel. It was our first time staying at this hotel. The staff was was friendly and helpful. She offered us bottled water which was great! Our room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable and we both sleep well and the shower water was hot! I really liked the ceiling fan in the room because that is what I have at home and I'm used to it. The breakfast was good, they offered breakfast tacos which was wonderful! The only draw back was we were in room 301 which is closest to the road and due to the noise from the traffic took a little while to get to sleep.I would definitely recommend this hotel and my 9 year old likes it better too! :)

I was in Gonzales to see family during Christmas. I've stayed at this Best Western several times previously (some years past) and always been satisfied - this time was no different ... a pleasant stay. The bed was very comfortable, the room quiet, and the shower had plenty of volume and good hot water. The staff that I interfaced with were pleasant and courteous.

A great place to stay with great staff and employees - very clean and close to town - also pretty quiet neighborhood with restaurants and shopping available. We were vacationing along the "BBQ Trail" and centered out of Gonzales - very convenient to all the popular BBQ restaurants in the area.

The Best Western Regency Inn & Suites in Gonzales Texas is what I look for in a Best Western. A big clean and well furnished comfortable room with all needed amenities. Stayed at Best Western in Gonzales, Tx. on October 18th and was more than pleased with the service and appearance of the hotel. Who would have guessed that in the small town of Gonzales that there would be such a nice hotel such as this one. They had recently upgraded and remodeled floors, doors, air conditioners and just about everything else, so it was as if we were staying at a brand new hotel. The staff were all super-nice and answered all of our questions regarding any directions we needed, and where the best restaurants were, etc. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone should they have the opportunity.

Anytime my family will be traveling to Gonzales we will be staying at this hotel!! The staff is amazing!! They are extremely friendly and helpful!! The grounds were well kept, the rooms were clean,(we loved that each room came with a microwave and refrigerator), the beds are comfortable, and the air conditioning unit will keep you as cold as you want!! The swimming pool was so nice, especially to cool off after a fun day exploring the many historic sites of the town of Gonzales!! For a traveler who wants to get the most for their dollar, the Best Western in Gonzales will not disappoint!! Can't wait to come back and stay here!!

This Best Western is clean and has the most people friendly employees I've seen. The rooms are well kept and extremely clean. The beds are comfortable and seem like new. They have big flat screen tv's with lots of channel selections. The a/c in the rooms will get as cold as you want to be comfortable. They also have the best breakfast tacos I've eaten anywhere and I'm from Texas. The price is more reasonable than you expect for what you get. I stay here every chance I get and their phone number is saved in my cell phone.

We loved the breakfast tacos as part of the Breakfast buffet. However we chose this place because we saw a photo of the hotel hot tub on Trip Advisor. We always make use of the hot tubs when we chose a hotel. After we signed in, we went to use the hot tub and found it was shut down and being repaired. We were very disappointed and the owners gave us a discount to make up for it.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us TXtravelinMike. Unfortunately, we do not have the spa listed as an amenity on any sites that list our property. Because the heat index in our area is well into the 100's, this was a summer project. Once the project is complete it will be listed as an amenity to the sites. I am sorry that you did not realize the project in progress until the morning that you were checking out. However, I'm glad that you were pleased with the deep discount we offered as an apology for your disappointment, and that you enjoyed the breakfast buffet. It is never our intention to disappoint our guest but to have them leave as a satisfied guest.

Don't be deceived by the first impression of this little single story strip motel. It is up to the highest modern standards of service, cleanliness and amenities that you would wish from any first rate hotel. The breakfast is a slight departure from the mundane offerings at most motels by serving up a choice of soft breakfast tacos instead of just scrambled eggs, sausage and cereal etc although they do have the obligatory Texas shaped waffles if you need one. Value is excellent, compared to the rates on the Interstate.

Some of the nicest people run and own this motel. The room was absolutely spotless and the price is VERY reasonable. They kept an eye on my trailer while I left it to go eat. Over and above and trailer friendly. I will stay there and only there when I am in Gonzales Texas.

We stayed here during a one-week road trip in Texas. Although the hotel is 20 years old, it is very well maintained and still looks new. Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was supposed to be "continental", but included breakfast burritos from the Mexican restaurant next door.

Motel style Best Western, quiet location and great place to visit the sites of Gonzales. Lovely room, good size, clean and comfortable with fridge and microwave. Bathroom was immaculate. Great value stay would stay again.

Traveling in remote areas means expectations will obviously change. This is a nice roadside motel not typically what you would envision as a Best Western. The rooms were nice and clean and the beds very comfortable. Coffee in the room is sub standard and the small cafe area in the morning even worse. Instant coffee machines are horrible no matter what you put in it! Had a large group of area workers that came in the first night and sat outside my room and talked very loud until midnight. Terrible nights sleep but the desk clerk was quick to move me far from that area the next morning so the second night was fine. The motel can't control inappropriate and uncaring behavior so I lost a good night's sleep but they did help fix it (would have been better if they addressed it). Better than some other options in town but I am not sure I would stay here again until I explored more of what the others have. Now i'll add to "away from the ice machine, and elevators", with "if you have work crews staying here please give me a room far away".

Rooms were spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was very good, with warm breakfast burritos and make-your-own fresh waffles + numerous cold breakfast items. Coffee was great!! One of the best hotels in a small town that I have stayed during the past 12 months. The service by the staff was excellent and outdoor area was kept beautiful by the hard working maintenance man. We will make reservations at this facility the next time we are in the area.

Great Staff, they do everything to make you feel welcome. I've never had a big problem in all the times I've stayed here but even minor issues are addressed imediately. The staff is the difference maker, I travel a lot and stay in quiet a wide range of places, this one is at the top of my list. Nothing pretentious or phony, just good people. Quiet and Comfortable rooms - The accomadations are very nice, not too fancy, but nice. Has in room fridge which is handy. Clean - Inside and Out.

Visited the city for pleasure. Best Western was near to everything, room was clean and well air-conditioned, the latter a great feature when outside temperature was 110. . Breakfast selection from waffles, fruit, cereal, yogurt, toast and more, along with milk, coffee and juices was great. Breakfast tacos, free, were great also. Staff was pleasant, smiling and helpful. Will stay here again.

What a wonderful treat to find an inexpensive roadside, one level BW on the way home and have it be so clean and welcoming. This is a little bit of luxury on the road; great vending, clean rooms and a prompt staff. This was a nice surprise after a long day. I slept great and the AC was ice cold. Really cool check-in host.

the service here is excellent. The rooms were clean spacious and comfortable. The bed was more comfortable than mine at home. enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and the pool. The location allowed us to visit several sites significant to our family history and do day trips to Corpus and San Antonio and San Marcos.

someone before us left some of there cloths in bathroom and toilet was not clean, I always travel BestWestern , this is my first time having any kind of cleaning problem and I am almost sure that I will still keep using these hotels on other trips.

This is the nicest motel in Gonzales. They have updated the rooms and have a great breakfast including breakfast burritos from restaurant next door. Pool and small hot tub, barbecue grill and picnic table as well as washer and dryer. Very clean inside and out.

Hotel was a pleasant surprise. We were travelling from Houston to San Antonio. We were getting tired and my daughter started calling different hotels. We ended up at the Best Western which was not very close to the highway, however, it was well worth the travel. Would highly recommend.

This motel has been established there for some time. The staff was very friendly, it was very clean, fresh paint, clean comfortable beds, staff was very accommodating, good breakfast selection and reasonably priced. Motel is setup in the shape of a horseshoe, you can park right outside your room door. (No second story, dragging your suitcase up a elevator) Definitely would stay there again!

Because it was an older hotel we were a bit leery...So glad we stayed. The room was very clean and comfortable and I had no problems with my allergy to smoke. The girls working the desk were so friendly and helpful. We had a special invite to breakfast which offered breakfast tacos from next door. I wish we had gotten up earlier as there was a long line and a full house next door. Will definitely get up next time.

I have stayed at this motel a number of times over the past twenty years. It isn't a five star place, but is always clean and a good value. Management and the desk clerks are pleasant and helpful. A dispenser has been added in the shower with body wash gel and shampoo. I That's a little inconvenient for washing hands, but acceptable. The entire place is well-maintained and extensively updated. Definitely a good value.

Very satisfied with my stay. The staff was very friendly and informative, service and room were exceptional. Up to date, clean, neat and tidy. Excellent facility, great location, well stocked, comfortable bed. Tremendous value. Loved it!!

Everything wasn't perfect in our room, and I could nitpick little things. But, I won't . . . And here's why. The front desk clerk was so helpful and nice during check in, I would feel leaving anything but the best review would be a disservice to her. She took the time to explain the events currently happening in Gonzales and the town's history. She also gave me directions and reviews of the barbecue restaurants in the area. Along with the amazing hotel clerk, the water pressure is great in the shower, and the shower head has multiple settings that massaged my sore muscles back to normal.

What a wonderful review girlygirl243! This type of review speaks volumes, in that as you mentioned, it's easy to nitpick the little things that are not perfect. However, you chose to show your appreciation for the things that you felt were deserving. I can't tell you how much it means for our staff to read these type of reviews, complimenting our customer service and letting us know the amenities you liked best. We always want to give the closest to perfect rooms and customer service we possibly can. Which includes our staff being knowledgeable of our local history and always prepared to give great suggestions on dining. We do hope to see you again on your next visit to Gonzales.

This is a great hotel. I don't know if it has just been built and it was recently remodeled but the lobby and rooms are very clean and the staff is extremely courteous. At first I didn't like the location as I arrived after nightfall but the next day I found that it was very close to all the amenity's I needed and as close to the down town area as I needed to be. I would recommend this motel to all my friends and family without hesitation.

A clean and neat motel on the route to Houston. Staffs were nice and helpful. Breakfast was below the level of country inn I usually preferred to say with, but good enough for the travelers to start a busy day. Got welcome gifts and room upgrade as a diamond member.

just going by Gonzales Tx and they stay was comfortable and convenient. clerk were helpful and friendly. Rooms were comfortable and clean parking lot big enough for big rigs breakfast was very good and tasty

Standard 2Q room with solid necessities, nothing fancy. I used my AAA discount. My mom was raised in Gonzales, and I was born there; my family had always used this hotel whenever we visited relatives in town after we moved away. During this stay, our room had a very strange old mothball? odor upon entering it, it seemed to be coming from the bathroom. After housekeeping cleaned the room, the smell was nearly gone. It'd be great if the location would consider offering a complimentary non alcoholic beverage per night for those who do not drink alcohol. Wonderful 'pillow top' beds; A+ Breakfast!!

Unfortunately the odor issue you mentioned was never reported. However, I do appreciate you letting us in when we asked, as you kept your Do not Disturb tag on during your stay. We take such great pride in the cleanliness of our rooms and try to keep them cleaned and maintained as often as possible. Your feedback regarding the offer of a non alcoholic complimentary beverage is also appreciated. We consider the second choice of a water bottle as the non alcoholic beverage. From the outside it looks like an older hotel. Not bad, just old school. Person at desk was very nice and very helpful. Room was spotless. Looked very new or recently remodeled. Nice large flat screen TV. Beds are awesomely comfortable. Nice clean and bright bathroom. I have nothing bad to say about this stay. I will stay here again for sure.

When you look at the hotel, it does not look like much. One can tell it is an older hotel. But the owner obviously made major renovations recently or at least within the last couple of years because the rooms looked updated, bathrooms have new tiles and counters, place to hang clothes looked new, carpet looked new. It is up to par with other Best Western Plus and Best Western Inns and Suites I've stayed at in bigger cities. I would definitely come back to this hotel when I am in Gonzales again. On top of that, their staff (special mention Miranda and Jessica) were very friendly and most helpful!

This was a total experience where we did not have anything to complain about. Totally AWESOME. The rooms are very tidy, the restrooms and shower with plenty of clean towels, coffee in the room, yaaay. Microwave and fridge was just great. Breakfast area was beautiful and clean and very well kept. I will definitely stay here each and everytime I visit my sons and their families. Thank you very much

This is a small town so we were please that the room was fairly new, and definitely in good shape. Shampoo and bath gel dispensed from the shower wall. Coffee was available. We had breakfast plans, but breakfast tacos were available.

Place looks new. Thought I would get a good deal for the money, and seems I could've gotten a better rate if I had brought friends. At least that's what the proprietor made me believe. When I mentioned the company I worked for, he said he would offer better rates if I could convince them to stay there. Cats everywhere! Cat scat was everywhere. Geckos in the room. Internet was the slowest I'd ever experienced!

Our Fiero group ended up at this hotel because the one we had originally booked had some water lines break and flooded some of the rooms. We were booked in the newer section which has 2-room sort of cabins and we had a great time. Clean room and my bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in. I think everyone appreciated that we were all able to be booked together at a moments notice.

I can't tell you how much we enjoyed having your group stay with us Mike G. It was very cool to see the cars out in the lot. I know that your original plan was not to stay with us, so it makes me even more glad to know that you all had a good stay. I do hope that we will have you back for your next event.

We roadtripped to Gonzales for the annual Come and Take It festival, and decided to make a weekend of it. Luckily, the BW still had a room available over the festival weekend. We are usually skeptical of the old-style motels with rooms that open directly out to the parking lot, but we were pleasantly surprised. Of all the hotels and motels we've stayed in on our many roadtrips, this has got to be one of the best experiences we've had to date. The room was recently redecorated and spotless, the grounds were well kept, and the staff was so friendly and helpful. When they ran out of breakfast tacos, they ordered more for us, and even gave the kids bottles of water for the road. (Did I mention that they also give you a little bottle of wine or two bottles of beer per night if you go to the desk and ask? Great little perk!) This is an old-style motel where the doors open out yo the parking lot. The walls are thin, so be respectful to your temporary neighbors! We were right by the washer/dryer, and a few people were out talking late at night, but when they realized they were a little loud, they shhhhh-ed really quickly. The included breakfast was one of the better that I've seen— breakfast tacos, Texas waffles, yogurt, cereals, packaged things, fruit.... And pretty dang good coffee. We were also lucky to have shared the breakfast room with really nice guests, so breakfast conversation with other tables just added to the experience. Overall, this was a great stay, and we will definitely be back. You can tel when owners/employees have pride in their jobs, and this is one of those places. Gonzales was such a friendly town, and we now have a favorite place to stay!

Wow! I can't tell you how great it feels that you would take the time to leave such a lengthy review. It just inspires us to continue doing our best in all areas. It was truly our pleasure to have you with us for Come & Take It this year. I do hope that you will be returning every year...and anytime you come to our area. I loved everything you wrote, but was really touched on how you described your interaction with other guest in the breakfast room. I always tell the staff, this is our home, these are our guest...when a guest stays with us, they are family. We will always do our best to make each stay clean, comfortable, & pleasant. Just as anyone would do for family.

My husband and I were in Gonzales TX for a business trip. After our meeting was over that evening we went to the pool to relax. The pool was very clean. The room and restroom was very much clean. Bed was comfortable. The next morning we went to the Lobby where they were serving a continental breakfast. We were overjoyed to know that they had breakfast burritos, not just your typical continental breakfasts.

Thank you for a great review, Suzanne R! It's so good to hear that your stay with us was a good one. I'm so glad that you and your husband were able to relax and be comfortable in your room. Our housekeeping department are excellent and really go above and beyond in their cleaning duties. And you are absolutely right, the hot, fresh breakfast burritos we order from a local restaurant are always a sweet surprise. To us, if you're in Texas, you have to have a breakfast taco for breakfast!!! Hope your meeting went well and we do hope to have you back with us.

The facility was clean and an average motel. We were eating outside with friends and the flies were terrible. Had to take a bite of food and then fan it to knock the flies away. Indoors was fine, we were just trying to have a picnic. I am very familiar with computer workings, but I could never access the internet despite directions from the desk. Overall an OK place for short trips. The one thing that really pissed me off was the normal rate on the internet is shown ranging from $86-96. I paid almost $150 per night, guessing because there was some type of festival in town that I had nothing to do with. Can't stand price gouging.

You are so kind, Quadir M. Our entire staff really enjoys having you stay with us. As an extended guest, it means so much that you continue being satisfied with our accommodations. We intend to always do our best to make you and all of our guest have the best stay possible!

I enjoyed my stay here, but I really feel as though a business traveler would be better off somewhere else. I'll list below my pros and cons. Pros: VERY clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful ... and everyone loves a free bottle of water in the south Texas heat. The breakfast choices were very good - microwavable breakfast sandwiches are a great addition! Cons: Not very quiet - this is technically a "motel" in that the room doors open directly onto the parking lot. I heard everything happening in the parking lot - including one person who was revving their van's engine for some reason, a cat fight (felines, not women), people rolling their luggage to and from vehicles, conversations, etc. The wifi is not that great. I had trouble keeping the room cool overnight - the ac worked and blew cold air but didn't seem strong enough for the size of the room. Also, granted, it's south Texas in the summer. At any rate - I would definitely return to this hotel for vacation or casual visit. But as a business traveler, quiet comfort and good wifi are musts.
