Je m’inscris Great places to stay friendly staff and CLC lodging and great Commercial vehicle parking the breakfast is very amazing would definitely recommend the establishment to friends and families and anyone looking for a great place to stay in Cherokee Iowa
One of the worst terrible places to even be doing buisness ...bed bugs , mold on ac unit , no house keeping they don't even wash the sheets that goes on top ....I had to do my own housekeeping ...place smelled horrible as well ...don't know how they still in buisness ...and their breakfast has been molded at times along w bugs in food ....so pls I Do not recommend this terrible horrible place ...
Great rooms, complete breakfast. Jay the clerked was very helpful and great to work with. Manager also helped greatly with a checkin problem. All the help was friendly. I would highly recommended staying there. Found some great restaurants and things to do close by. Convenient location
Clean rooms, good complimentary breakfast, and the pool room is adorable. The front desk staff was very helpful, our band had perfect accomodations. The shower was hot and had a pleasant flow, it really made me feel like I was bathing at home. Great work!
The hotel is very good location with some hilly area. The front staff is very full and friendly to me his name is Jay. The rooms are very clean and nice, they have hot breakfast every morning. The grocery stores and restaurants are in walking distance.
Very hospitable front desk specially Jay. Great breakfast. Great price. Very nice restaurants around. Great big and very clean rooms. The staff and owner is very polite and nice with customers. They have great parking for trucker drivers.
People all good. Room are clean and span. Mexicanas restaurant is near, grocery store are in walking distante. They have amzing Hot vreak fast. You dont wait for early chek in and primero are good. Clean and smells good place. Me and my friend love this place.
Wonderful experience all around. We needed an extra blanket and they hooked us up with a nice big brand new one. The part machines have all of the different kinds of pops you could ever want. We had the opportunity to speak with the owner, and he was a great guy. The staff allowed us to check in early so we did not have to sit around or find something to do. They were on top of it.
Super fast and easy check in. Great customer service! Clean rooms with excellent air conditioning. Excellent selection of breakfast foods, hot and cold. I originally booked one room and needed another. Front desk was so helpful and accommodating.
A very nice place to stay, all the amenities you need such as free WiFi, large tv selection, very clean room, and bath, Air conditioning worked well plus a fabulous hot breakfast including biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon etc! Great friendly Customer Service !
Very nice hotel good service nice pool and good beds and very clean good service good restaurant next to it close to everything and the rooms al very clean the carpet is like new service is quick everything time the company works her in Cherokee we choose best western
Horrible service, called and made a reservation for a conjoined room. After a bit of computer issues they told me they would adjust the room upon arrival. Two hour drive later and the rooms are not what we reserved and when asked if there was something that could be done, instead of admitting fault the owner told me it's just a request I made and he doesn't guarantee rooms because he needs money. They also said there was a pool but failed to mention that its in horrible repair and closed for "at least a few days i guess" so I asked what the point of a reservation then and he told me he's not gonna argue with me and I ask to many questions. Then he yelled at his desk attendants and went back to his room. That man is a horrible business owner and the employees agree. He also responded to a review talking about my childeren but claims hes professional. hope the lady at the counter finds something better. She is the only thing that's keep it going. Avoid if possible.
best service people very nice and friendly the location its very good walking to the grocerystore fast foods and fármacy.there is ample parking for trucks. the rms are nice and big spacious. they have firect tv and wifi and nice breakfast in the morning.
The beds had fresh linens and comfortable. The breakfast was good. They gave us trash bags upon request, with an eye rolling. I'm sure she was disgusted that the house keepers can't do their jobs. The carpet had grease or tar all over it. The toilet paper holder and lights in bathroom were all rusted. The bathtub was filthy. The shower curtain should have been washed. The counter and the mirror had not been whiped off. The garbages were running over full . The pool has not worked in at least two years. We called ahead for a room because we'd be coming in late. Our on line receipt was for a room on 1st floor. We had been traveling and we came in with our cooler and they put us on 2nd floor, room 214. No elevator, and we asked for senior rate. I bought cleaner to clean the bathroom, so I could shower. We have been going here for years and each year it gets worse. They need a through cleaning throughout the building. Looking for better stay.
It was clean and well kept. The beds were very comfortable to the point my mom has a bad back and it didn't flare up. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was good for a hotel breakfast. The only complaint was the room was a bit musty from the air conditioner.
I stayed at the Best Western when my house was threatened by a flood and I had water damage to my basement and no power to my home. The staff was genuinely concerned for the flood victims. Instead of taking advantage of the situation, they actually gave people impacted by the flood a discount. They worked with people the very best they could, like real neighbors. The manager even made sure bottled water was available for guests, as there was talk of a threat to the town's water supply.
The entire hotel staff has made me feel at home. Always helpful with any request. Used the desktop computer and printer which were older models but seemed to work well for a simple report. Jennifer, Jacinta, and Donovan have gone above and beyond with customer service. ONLY wish the pool area was open for meditation....such a beautiful space. I will only stay at this hotel in the future.
The value proposition of this hotel would have only been $70-85 a year or so ago. Prices now in the $120-140 range for a mid-range hotel experience is too much inflation too fast. I will stay less at hotels. The value proposition is questionable...average services but luxury prices.
They are so amazing and very acomidating and very sweet I wouldst recommend to anyone specifically with children the rooms are so cozy and the beds are so comfortable and the rooms are quiet as well it's a must stay place and would do it again 😊
Clean friendly people good place to stay front desk people were quick to help with anything I need. Asked for extra towels housekeeper was more than willing to go grab me some. Needed directions and the lady up front was able to help me figure out where to go.
Had a great interaction with the staff and the manager was especially helpful with everything I asked about. Would recommend staying here for a nice friendly environment, great job! Overall I would say the place seems to run smoothly and even the housekeepers are helpful
Room was warm and clean. Breakfast was awesome. Staff was very friendly, Shelly, in particular. Just a great place to stay and bring family for a fun weekend with eating right next door and a pool to relax and let kids unwind.
Our room was very clean and cozy. The beds were very comfortable. After a long day of traveling it was so nice to be able to check in and feel at home. The staff is AMAZING! Very accommodating to every need that my family and I had.
The people who worked their are very nice and understanding they are fine if you were late and are fine with you landing a helicopter in the grass but you have to call or talk to them they are fine with you getting breakfast early.
Was there 3 nights with no housekeeping. The rate is not a cut-rate extended stay rate, so it was news to me. Room needed a flyswater. Killed several Black Jumping Spiders. Unusable bedside lamp due to short in the bulb. Cable service must have a world record number of infomercial stations. I have stayed here 4-5 times over past 16+ years, this will be the final time
The front desk attendee was exceptionally welcoming. Her name is Shelly and she was attentive to my request to have my room cleaned . I am highly appreciative for her spiritually warm welcoming and her ability to care about my need to have a clean riim.
Friendly Staff -Clean Halls- Quiet Atmosphere and Fresh Smelling Room's! The television control was easy to use. We found them very helpful with directions to places we ask about. They also gave us suggestions of other places to go and things to do. The breakfast food had flavor and there were plenty of chooses to eat.
Great Wi-Fi , great service Staff is excellent The best breakfast around The manager is super great The rooms are big 10/10 highly recommend. If you need anything someone is always willing to help you out.
I booked this hotel because it was near enough to a wedding I had to attend, but the hotel itself was gross. The employees were friendly, but friendliness can't make up for a grimy room that has mites
The whole place stank, it was very dirty! garbage behind things, urine stains all around the toilet! And stains on the side of the bed !! It's was disgusting , and the pool was not working. I will never go there again. I was there. 30 minutes left! Asked for my money back still have not got it.
The staff was so nice and helpful. The breakfast was great especially the biscuits and gravy the bed was comfy and the room was clean everything worked I just enjoyed my stay very much and will return when I'm in town again
The hotel was dirty and had a terrible odor in the hallway. My room did not have the odor but was definitely not cleaned well. Everything had a layer of dust on it and there was hair in the tub and on the toilet. I spoke to 4 staff members while checking in and out, 2 were very nice and 2 were rude. I will not be back.
Omg!!!!! I can't say it enough completely blown away with the service fabulous. Fabulous fabulous the stuff is so amazing so great there is an even a word to describe how I feel. Can't say it enough. This is my home away from home. I wish every hotel could be like this hotel, and the manager Jen thank you so much for everything all of the staff thank you thank you thank you. You guys are amazing.
Great place to stay. Super friendly staff that are very accomodating!!!! Rooms were clean and tidy. Appliances worked well. Offered a great breakfast bar and fresh cookies upon arrival. All the staff are very helpful!
When I arrived, I was told my room wasn't ready so they checked in another room to see if it was clean and ready. I entered the room and the room was very old but had a reasonably recently renovated bathroom. The shower hot water took literally forever to get warm to the point that I thought they were out (even at 5 am), and never got "hot." The room was right next to the office with very thin walls so I heard every arrival and departure. Worst of all, there was a large drop of blood next to the toilet (easy to see). I was asked multiple times during check in and check out to review them on TripAdvisor and they were "hoping for a 10 out of 10" on service. Not close.
Thank you for your attentiveness and helpfulness. We will be staying at Best Western throughout our vacation. Best Western has always been the place for us to stay. Looking forward to breakfast including coffee.
You like best Western breakfast and friendly staff. Very accommodating. I enjoy the rooms and cookies. I stay often and get my crew to visit. Nice beds and sometimes it's more relaxing then home. Will come soon.
Mike (owner), Jen, Heather and the rest of their team are doing a great job of turning this place around. From making building improvements (renovating pool room, fixing up rooms, etc) to beautifying the outdoor space. Their great customer service and welcoming attitude are second to none! If you're ever in Cherokee, or surrounding area, give them a try.
Excellent customer service, check in went smoothly, she was extremely nice. Needed to change my departure date to a day early due to some changes and she was extremely helpful with it, and wanted to make sure it wasn't anything they did, which it wasn't. Definitely would stay again if I'm ever in the area
Nice hotel with indoor pool. Cherokee is quiet so very good sleep in this hotel. The staff was very kind and helpful. The internet was appropriate and the shower was great! The location is close to a great Mexican restaurant "Monterey" and close to food and gas station.
We stayed here during a family trip and booked two different rooms. The hotel is easy to find and across from the main grocery store in case you need anything. There's also a great Mexican restaurant next door that has great food and amazing margaritas! Check in was easy but I feel the morning staff could be more cheery. The evening staff were lovely and went out of their way to give their guests the best experience. We even sat down in the sitting area, just in front of the front desk, with the evening staff for a lovely chat. However, we'd love to see the entrance and reception area remodeled to be more authentic to its title of the “La Grande Hacienda”. Housekeeping was on point as the rooms were clean and beds were beautifully setup, comfy too! We had all the towels we needed for our entire stay which was lovely. We've stayed in multiple hotels in the area and would say we were more comfortable at the Best Western than the Cherokee Inn. Especially because the walls seemed to be less thin, although you can still hear other guests just less often. Security could be better since we noticed that all the exterior doors did not require a key, although terminals were there but doors were unlocked. The pool was a great feature but the room was like a sauna and the water was too cold to enjoy. Breakfast was great. They have waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, basically anything you could want, they had. They even had some bakery goods and snacks to grab on the go. Do not miss the cinnamon rolls, they were the best! Check out was smooth. We just wish prices would be more competitive, meaning not as expensive. This hotel is much more expensive than Cherokee Inn. All the times we've stayed in Cherokee, Best Western is unfortunately always double the price. Overall we had a good stay and would consider staying here again if the price was right.
I really enjoy my stay here at the best western hotel the front lady's Tasha and Jennifer do amazing job, you can tell they take a lot of pride in there job, they are very polite and have ha smile on there face every time I go, will diffently be comming back to stay
Front desk was not attended at check in, had to wait. The first room given to us had not been made up from the previous occupant. Maintenance and upkeep were poor, especially in our bathroom. Overall sense of cleanliness was not good. Breakfast was OK with above average variety.
I cannot believe how this property has deteriorated after a promising future. I have, in the past, highly recommended this BW to stay at via Tripadvisor. I have no idea what has happened or is happening but it is on a downhill slide. The halls and room smelled bad, we actually bought some air freshener and loaned it to other guests. The security is down with no locked entry doors and during our entire visit we simply did not feel clean, As stated above, I/we have always enjoyed staying at the La Grande Hacienda and looked forward to our visits.
This Best Western was very friendly. The help was willing to accommodate. However, the bathroom and the pool were not as clean as they should have been. The pool had a few bugs in it and the deck was in need of scrubbing. Even after trouble-shooting, our TV failed to connect to the dish.
This motel needs help. The pool worked this time, but had other issues even at a lower price. My room was so damp, that after using by swim suit and wringing it out to dry, it was still damp 3 days later.
They warned me before I got to the room that it smelled like smoke...they gave me a bottle of Febreze, to help with the smell...what they didn't tell me was that they did not clean the room at all. There were crumbs all over the floor, a loogie on the bedspread, dirty pillows and rotting food in the fridge. Someone came up and changed the bedspread and pillows, and kinda vacuumed
Hotel appears to be in dire need of a remodel and touch up. During my stay, I'm upon checking into my room the bed sheets looked as if they had just been pulled back up and over the bed rather than being changed out for new clean sheets. I went to take a shower and was welcomed to used dirty towels that were just folded again and set back on the towel rack. The room had a weird smell to it. The hotel staff seems to be extremely understaffed, and current staff available is very piss poor at keeping cleanliness up to par. Walking in the lobby, your attention can be grabbed by the thick film of dust on the black table/counter tops. The staff stands around gossiping about past employees and barking orders to the visibly busy worker. Very poorly ran property, less than accommodating, the current staff doesn't behave like they care what a guest sees, thinks, or how they feel paying for a run down establishment that is falsely advertised as a well functioning, comfortable environment.
Excellent service. Front desk was always helpful Room was exceptionally cleaned and well maintained. Breakfast was great with tons of options. The hotel is a little dated, but clean. All the staff were great. Will stay everytime I'm in Cherokee.
Excellent service. The front dest was very helpful. Breakfast is great. Rooms are very clean. The housekeeping staff was very accommodating. Our room was always clean and fresh linens when we asked. Also, gave great dining recommendations.
My husband travels for work in the Wind Industry he stays at different hotels for weeks at a time. He didn't have many issues with this place until check out. He was here for 2 weeks not once was his room cleaned he took his own trash out during his stay. Upon leaving he asked for a large trash bag and gathered up the trash. Our credit card was charged for 2 nights after he departed and a cleaning fee of $100 so in total $225.00 in bogus charges they were generous enough to refund $61.60. Now he's a man and I know him well did he leave his sink dirty I am sure he did but to say he trashed the room and they needed to charge us more is ridiculous he's a 47 year old man and not the kind to trash someone else's property. The clerk was very nice while there. Good luck staying here safest bet is to pay cash or keep a very close eye on your credit card luckily we pay ours off in full after each stay so it's easy to catch BS..........
Nice quiet motel in a small town. It was kept clean and tidy and was reasonably up to date. Best feature is that it is next door to the best restaurant in the county. If you like Mexican food that is.
My husband and I have stayed in this hotel in a few occasions and we've never had a bad stay. The property is small but cozy and the staff definitely makes it feel like home. We love the best western and the girls that are running it and we will choose this hotel every time we travel
The rooms are a little older and still kept very clean. The staff is super kind, the breakfast is an amazing spread of hot and cold food, and the indoor pool is charming. It is probably the best place to stay in Cherokee, IA.
Great Breakfast, Quiet atmosphere, Friendly staff. I have stayed here multiple times and find I have a consistently positive experience. Pets are welcomed. The pool area is clean. I like the coffee in the room.
The two women I had the most interactions with ( Sandra, and Kendra) were very sweet and helpful with any questions or concerns I may have ran into during my stay. I will most definitely be staying at this property again in the VERY NEAR future. The room was satisfyingly clean as well. For the amenities at the property, they have a very large pool area and set at a great temperature, completely satisfied with my whole overall stay.
I am so impressed by the property as a whole. With that said Katina and Sandra are probably the most helpful kind friendly young ladies I have ever had the pleasure of working with! You ladies are wonderful at what you do and I'll definitely be back!!!
front desk staff was amazing friendly check in pool is amazing had a blast with the kids, great location with Hy-ve across the street from us. We will be back very soon! Great to here they are pet friendly
I was very disappointed in this best western. I chose this hotel first because of the name, but I was wrong. My “ Clean room quote had beer can, leftover popcorn, cough drop and urine on the toilet. I did not feel safe or comfortable staying there. Made it through my week and switched to a different hotel.
Upon staying here I'm glad I was only here to sleep and that's it. Overall room is very dull and I wouldn't suggest using anything inside the rooms besides the bed. Doesn't seem to be thoroughly cleaned. I was in town for a wedding and on sunday morning housekeeping came pounding on my door at 8 am all because they weren't sure if someone was in the room or not when they could have just waited a couple more hours for the checkout time! Luckily they didn't wake up my 2yr old after the late night we had. Will never be staying there again!
We stayed 1 nite after a lengthy travel time to visit with friends. When we pulled up its appearance was so bad we didn't know if it was even open! Staff was sitting on the curb outside the filthy entrance smoking. Lawn hadn't been mowed maybe ever.. Walking in it smelled old n musty and was very dirty. Dust on tables and desk was so thick you could write your name in it. The hall lighting was poor with some lights working n some not. Our handicapped room was awful. The smell could knock ya out. I killed 2 spiders in the bathroom. There was black hair in the sink and toilet and no toilet paper. The security entrance doors on side and back of hotel were broken. Anyone could walk in or out. All were reported to front desk and she called her manager n they took $5 bucks off the room rate. Yup $5 bucks!!! They didn't have a clean room to transfer even though there were just a few cars in the lot overnite. We had to stay as there were only 2 motels in town and the other one was worse if you can imagine that. Was beyond disappointed to start our overnite visit with our friends. Totally grossed out!!!!
Great hotel. Easy check in. Pet friendly with lots of area. Room was clean and staff very personable and friendly. Offers very good breakfast selections. Close to everything(gas station, grocery store, restaurants, Mexican restaurant next door.
If you can avoid staying at this property, I'd advise it. Very poor management, garbage and stuff all over inside and out. I had fresh stains on my sheets and comforter and night manager deliver "fresh" sheets but refused to change the bedding saying "I am not a maid". Breakfast room was cluttered with boxes and sheets and towels??? Coffee was undrinkable. Utility room next to us was open all the time and was disgusting to look at. Pool party until 1:30 a.m. that kept my companion awake and when she complained, (same) night manager was unresponsive. Just a very poorly run property under a BW name. GM apologized but made no attempt to compensate in any way. Smelly, dark and messy property.
good hotel for the money, amazing staff, and great location. very courteous about keeping information private and safety of the guests. pool was open and breakfast options were great. will definitely stay again.
Outdated tv, dirty sheets, carpet was dirty and had crumbs on it, breakfast is bland. The only positives was the nice staff and pretty fast WiFi. Two lamps were not in working order. Inside of the ac unit was covered in black stuff. Not good water pressure in bathroom. Soaps made my skin and hair feel slimy. Not worth the price.
As a platinum member, I have come to expect high standards for cleanliness from Best Westerns. I was sorely disappointed here. There is a used washcloth from a previous guest behind the shower curtain, and a disgusting sticky substance on the night stand. It makes me question if the rest of the room is actually clean. The location is great, but I won't be back.
Stayed at this Best Western for business. Conveniently located across from a grocery store and just off a main street. While I didn't eat at it, there was a Hispanic restaurant immediately adjacent to the hotel. Lobby was clean, staff was helplful. They do offer a business computer/printer for printing needs. Room was fine. Bathroom does need some updating. The bathroom vent fan sounded like an airplane was taking off. It was terribly loud. I couldn't seem to find a comfortable temperature for the main heating/cooling unit. It seemed there was one temperature and it was very loud. Most importantly, the bed was comfortable and I did sleep good. Internet was spotty. There was a pool, but it was closed for maintenance. Breakfast was so-so. There were options of breads, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, pastries, juices, waffles, oatmeal, and fresh fruit. It was sufficient. The only reason I gave it 4/5 stars was simply because the hotel does need some updating (mainly the HVAC/vent system in the bathroom and breakfast was so-so). I would stay here again, however, as the bed was comfortable and staff were courteous.
This is the second time I have stayed here and on both occasions I have found friendly staff a very clean hotel comfortable beds. Will definitely be staying here on all my trips this way! Enjoy all the comforts of home while traveling
This was one of the worst hotels I've stayed in. The pool was gross with floating Bandaids. You could see a scum ring around the whole pool. When we first got there and went into our room it wasn't even cleaned and the beds weren't even made. So we went and got a different room. That room was also very disgusting; our AC/Heat unit smelt terrible while running. The room window was leaking so much water into it, the curtains weren't even cleaned from the water leaking down into them. This is by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed at and will never stay here again. We had reservations for three days, but checked out after the first night of staying there. The person at the front desk never asked if there was even any issues. Highly recommend you do not stay here.
Great staff, very helpful and courteous. This hotel recently remodeled and they did a great job. The pool is nice/no sauna though. Snow/ice conditions need to be better addressed though... Their hot complimentary breakfast has a nice variety and is consistently very good.
There is no doubt, this used to be a pretty fancy small town inn. Now a days, it tries hard to remain sexy and inviting, but Father Time has set in deep and no remodel can turn back the clock. Large rooms. Firm (hard?) beds. Window HVAC (the one in my room sounded like a wood chipper) Smallish tv. Decent WiFi. Staff is relaxed and friendly and helpful. The price reflects the quality of the amenities. What's not to like?
I had a very nice stay at this hotel. Janelle greeted me kindly when I arrived and quickly got my room keys and recommended dinner possibilities which she was correct about. The bed was very comfortable as was the room and the great pressure in the shower.
This was a good hotel for it's location. Everyone was very nice and check in and out was quick. The rooms are clean but the decor is a bit dated. Breakfast has a great selection of hot and cold options and the pool is fun.
Great location! Super fast, professional and courteous check in! Room was spacious, nice and cold. Grocery store, McDonald's and Mexican restaurant next door. A must stay if you are needing some rest after driving through a plethora of cornfields.
Hide your personal belongings. We had several things stolen from us. We were a big group, booking 6 rooms, staying a week. My son's room had a Nintendo Switch with games & carrying case stolen. Our friend had a bag with lotions, a blanket from home, & sleep aid pills stolen. Hotel told us another woman had an expensive shampoo taken from her room right before we reported our theft. Hotel says they bear no responsibility. Said it was a maid that didn't show back up after the first few thefts, but some things were taken at the end of our stay. So had to be a maid who was still there. We were never compensated for anything from anyone, not even an apology. We had to file police report & go to the police station during our stay. We started putting out our DoNotDisturb signs to keep maids out of our rooms, which meant we had to do our own housekeeping. The outside entrance doors look like you have to have a keycard to get in. But they don't work, so anyone can come in at any time. Not secure! They have a sign in the room that says if I steal from them they will charge my card. But I guess if they steal from me, well too bad for me. Very very sad to say the least.
They need to step it up. Bathroom wasn't cleaned well. Sheets were stained and AC unit was so loud we couldn't sleep with it on. Unfortunately there are no good places in that town to stay. I may need to check out a B&B next time.
My son is attending school in Iowa and took a summer job with a highway crew. We booked his stay and the hotel charged his card BEFORE turning him away with no refund because he is 17. This is the only hotel that has not allowed him to stay with the rest of the crew.
Never expect much from BW properties, but this one have a very tasty hot breakfast, good coffee, good internet, and walking distance from a good Mexican restaurant. Will definitely stay here again next time I am in Cherokee IA
The people are friendly and professional. The appearance of the hotel is nice. The rooms are very nice. The pool is very nice. This hotel could be a little more pet friendly with regard to price... Such as; Red Roof Inn-pets stay free, the same for LaQuinta Inn & Suites. The Cherokee Inn charges $20 however that covers the first three nights of a stay. This Best Western also in Cherokee charges $20 per night...
Front desk Blake helpful and friendly. Room clean and good size. Bathroom clean. Wifi very good. Micro and fridge works Breakfast basic,a surprise for being Best Western The place is very quiet, safe, works.
Everything was excellent. Food and lodging with clean rooms. Easy access to our room. Bathrooms were clean with fresh towels and soap daily. My wife especially like the smell of the soap. We try to stay at Best Western motels whenever we travel. Everything is the way we like it in our stays in other cities.
Staff was great; very accommodating and friendly. Facility was very clean and well maintained for an older hotel, although it is starting to show some age. We didn't make it for the hot breakfast but were pleasantly surprised that it was offered considering the rates, which were a good value. We will be staying again when we travel to the area.
Was greeted and treated very well . Place was clean and well kept. Is in need of some repair on the doors, coming into the building, and the door to our room . Both where broken. Breakfast was great hours where as well. Food was hot and easy to use, good variety of foods, loved the coffee and cookies in the lobby.
Stayed here during a flood in March can't say enough good things about this place or the staff made me feel so at home! Would highly recommend staying here you know it's nice to know there are still great people out there. Thanks you guys so much! Bryan B
We stayed here when visiting family in the area under their recommendation. The staff are cheerful, quick, and friendly. The decor and breakfast are nicely fitting for the Best Western brand. We had to change are expectations a bit for housekeeping, as they don't seem to notice all the details as they do in hotels we've stayed at across the country (wrinkles in sheets, spots on mirrors). Overall a pleasant stay.
The bad; shower/tub was stained and so was part of the drop down ceiling in the bathroom (minor rust). Also, I didn't realize that pet friendly would mean $25 per day - LaQuinta Inn & Suites as well as Red Roof inn will let your fur-kids stay for free. The good; everything else... the breakfast was good, the room overall was really good, great people, friendly and helpful.
I stayed in the hotel and had an ok experience. I am dissatisfied with how my room was kept. Saturday I came back from work the bed looked nice then Sunday my bed looked like it was tossed together they don't dust it was quite sad.
For the area, this is the best place by far. The staff remembers me and makes sure all is in order. Clean, and any problems you can get them to deal right away with any issue. Very professional, The breakfast was hot and on time, which is important to us as we are working in the area and always on a schedule.
We have been coming to the Best Western La Grande Hacienda for seal years . We have always had a good experience. All the workers are friendly and clean and dressed appropriately. we have not had any major issues during our visit but when we did have an issue we were helped and was taken care of to our liking. Our thanks to all workers clerks to housekeeping.
I've stayed here on business for 18yrs. Here's why A. Clean, B. Friendly, C. Large rooms, D. Fair price, E. Good sized desk, F. Solid roller chair, G. Internet connection works, H. Breakfast - nice variety & fresh, may I add a thank you for quality
A little outdated, but an ok place. Room was spacious and had everything we needed like a fridge, microwave, and coffee in the room. Lots of parking and easy access. Breakfast was just fine, lots to choose from.
My wife booked this hotel for me to stay while out in town for business. I loved the atmosphere, very quiet and very friendly staff. The first room I stayed in however was outdated (old), it felt cryptic, but the second room I stayed in on my second night was very cozy and updated. The Jacuzzi and pool helped me relax. Thanks BW!
Our king size bed had the right amount of pillows and mattress was perfect! Staff friendly and helpful for our extended family with kids. Clean, comfortable and modern without the over the top stuffs.
WOW! What a difference a few years makes! This used to be one of my favorite places to stay. Really nice. Haven't been here for a year or so, but it's gone all the way to the opposite side of the spectrum. The floor in the room had a huge red stain in the middle, and the whole floor was absolutely covered with bits of dirt & dried mud - obviously no one has vacuumed it for a long time. Disgusting to walk on. The hallways were all like that too, so they must be saving a TON of money on housekeeping. The TV channel-listing card in the room shows that they have HBO, and they even leave those little HBO-booklets near the TV. But, like the nonexistant housekeeping, there was no HBO. The A/C was incredibly loud - enough to make it impossible to hear the TV, and difficult to sleep. The only "pro" I can think of is location, but that isn't enough to pull this pig-sty up from a 1. For god sakes, BW manager, clean your rooms & halls once in a while like every other hotel chain does!!!
Good value for a hotel that's in a rural area. I'm stayed at this property a couple times over the years. They keep it up nicely and it's a very nice hotel through what you might expect in the small town.
We had an overnight stay. The exterior of the hotel was nothing to look at. The interior is outdated. But, it's clean and the staff went out of their way to be welcoming and friendly. The beds were very comfortable. There was a clean pool. Everything is very well kept. The breakfast was very good. There was something for everyone at breakfast. The rate was very reasonable and the staff was able to provide my family with adjoining rooms. Very personal service. I would stay here again and would recommend to others. Don't judge a book by it's cover. It was friendly, neat, clean and comfortable. A great value.
I have stayed at this Best Western weekly over the last few months for business. The hotel is clean, the staff is very friendly, knowledgable and helpful to your needs. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is good with a variety of items and always hot.
An older BW w/ a little need of upgrading. Staff was very nice. Pool was not in working order. Breakfast menu was limited. Great lobby coffee. Check-out was easy and painless. Room decor and amnities were a bit out of date.
I stayed at this property a few months back and had no problems. However, a recent stay was not as good. The front desk personnel are nice and helpful and the breakfast room and choice are good. The hotel is also near a Hy-Vee Grocery Store and other eating establishments. However, the cleanliness of the guest room was inadequate. I travel a lot for work and I investigate the hotel room thoroughly when I check in. The bedspread had a blood stain on it. The front desk personnel apologized and provided a clean bedspread. When I went to bed that night, three of the five pillows had small blood stains. I am not sure if housekeeping did not change the sheets from the prior guest or that one of the housekeeping personnel may have cut themselves and not realized it. In addition, the remote control had a dried substance and their were hairs that were not mine on the mattress pad and the floor of the bathroom. This is the first time I have come across this issue at any Best Western property.
Staff is always extremely helpful and friendly, rooms are looking great and pool area is fun, clean and wonderful for old and young! Love the new tile and counters in the bathroom, very nice. Convenient location right in the center of everything.
Was able to get a room on Sunday night before the weather got bad. Good accomdations. Has a pool and breakfast that starts at 6 am goes until 9 am and if you have to be at work before it starts they have a bag breakfast with fruit and such.
Everything was great....clean rooms, friendly staff, very comfortable beds, and quiet heater in the room. The room was attractively decorated. Easy, quick check in and express checkout. Breakfast was plentiful and a good variety of items available.
This is a very nice motel in Cherokee, Iowa. They are friendly and helpful for travelers who may not be familiar with the area. They are located next door to a good Mexican restaurant so it is not necessary to go far for food. They are also at the intersection of the main highways in and out of town. All in all, good value for the money.
needs a hot tub. clean for most part. bass was blown in tv. didn't realize till 10. great bfast selection. would stay again. peepers while swimming in pool. business trip. waiting on my giftcards.....
We had a terrific stay in Cherokee, Iowa at the Best Western LaGrande hotel. We've stayed here before while visiting relatives and have never been disappointed with the acommodations. The staff was very helpful especially with arranging for a late checkout.
The motel is a good place to stay. The motel is dated but has started to do some remodeling since my last stay 2 years ago. The rooms are clean, property is kept up and the staff is very pleasant and helpful. The average rating is that the handicap bathrooms in the handicap rooms are really not fully handicap accessible for anyone using a power chair or wheelchair. The bathrooms are small and barely fit a power chair. Turning and transfer is very difficult especially to the tub/shower. They were starting to remodel 2 years ago and I made the suggestion to the staff at the time that the rooms appeared to me to be large enough to expand the bathrooms and put in roll in showers and would make it much easier to use the sink. If you are disabled with some mobility the bathrooms work. The rooms are large with plenty of room to move around. The bathroom would not work for someone who is a total quad.
Okay, nothing special. We stay at the Best Western when we are visiting family and we need a place to stay. the faces have changed with ownership changes, but the friendiness and service have not changed.
From the minute we walked into the hotel, we were greeted with a smile! I have nothing to complain about from this place. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. They do have a restaurant right next door as well as a gas station and grocery store across the street, which is convenient.
I gave this hotel a bad review last time i stayed here and i was sure i would never stay here again, however because of travel schedule i decided to give it another chance. Completely different review this time, clean large room, updated decor and a comfortable bed. The outside is not the most inviting and the parking can be better, but the hotel is much better and i will stay here again
All employees were pleasant and very helpful. Breakfast was great and area was clean. Pool area was clean and warm. My Room Clean and had comfortable beds. Microwave and Refrigerator very helpful too.
The staff is extremely helpful. The hotel is maintained and clean but extremely dated. The property is easy to access. It would be great if they put some money into updates for decor and modern fixtures.
The town & hotel we usually stay is was booked so we found this Best Western. I was a little scared not knowing anything about the town or the hotel. We were very pleased. The rooms are nice & clean, the beds are remarkably comfortable, the breakfast area was clean and the food was better than most. The desk clerk and the woman working in the breakfast room were very friendly & welcoming.
The staff are great, they make me feel at home! The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. I travel for my job and stay here every week and I'm so thankful everyone makes me feel welcome. Helps me not mind being away from home as much.
older comfortable hotel with remote access to lakes area. Clean. Availability in a small familiar town. Great food close to the Gasthaus German pub downtown. Protein choice at breakfast in the hotel. Repeat customer.
It is a GREAT place to stay. I have needed to "hotel it"many many times over the past year and a half in Cherokee and there are other choices. But I always choose the Best Western. There is a good Mexican restaurant next door also. The hotel staff appreciate you and are respectful. While the hotel is not perfect, (most hotels aren't) the staff work very hard to make your stay the best it can be. Updated rooms and bathrooms are great and hot breakfast is ready every morning. If you want to keep up on Iowa news there are newspapers at front desk every day. Did I mention there's a Mexican restaurant right next door in case you need a margarita? Love this place, Janelle, Pam, Twila, Blake, Sarah!
Cherokee, Iowa has other places to stay. I know because I've stayed at a couple of them. Then, years ago, I discovered the La Grande Hacienda Best Western. Consequently, this has been the only place I stay at when in this area. The value, comfort and quietness warrant unquestioned future stays here. The owner has consistently upgraded the rooms, hallways and lobby. My only complaint pertains to the restroom in the rooms. The toilets are so low that while assuming the position, you worry if you're ever going to meet up with the commode on the way down. The toilet bowl and seat are extremely small and limiting. Then, there is the trip back up. Take your time because it's a long way up and you may need a hit of oxygen if you get up rapidly. The new sinks and counters are beautiful however, very low. I'm not exactly altitude challenged but, it is a long way to lean over to get my face wet to shave. Here's what I really like . . . the bath soap. After a long day on the road, there is nothing better than a hot shower and the soap they have here only makes it better. For business meeting, wedding groups, family reunion gatherings or just on the road traveling, you sincerely need to consider this facility,
Overall a five star stay when comparing it to some of equally occupied motels that I've stayed at. This is a day laborers place to stay, me being one of them. The staff here keep this place nicely clean and are friendly! Reasonably priced as well. No complaints from me.
Pros --large rooms --rooms were clean --comfortable bedding --chairs and desk are a nice addition --nice pool area Cons --cooling system hard to regulate --bathroom sink low --tub very high to step over --no elevator --pattern of carpet is very dangerous on steps because is blends together --breakfast is very average. Would consider staying again with first floor room.
Have spent hundreds of nights at this Hotel over the past 20 years while visiting family in my hometown of Cherokee. Staying here always felt like our home away from home. I knew this time would feel different because the old owners had sold it, and the old staff that knew us so well were no longer there.I have to give credit to the new owners, and staff, for the updates to the rooms, beds, Tv's etc. You can tell they are trying very hard to keep this Hotel comfortable, and up to date.Of course as with any change there were things that we missed. The hot tub in the pool area is gone, as is the restaurant. The new lamps, and light fixtures give off a very harsh bright white light that makes you look like you're in a mourge. The old chairs they removed from the rooms are sitting in the parking lot. The pool temperature is set way colder than it used to be.Like I said you can tell they are trying hard, but you can tell they are trying to keep operating costs as low as they can,and I understand this. I just wish they would spend a little more on things like warmer lightbulbs, tuning up the heater on the pool, and pay someone to haul away the old chairs in the parking lot.I'm sure I will be staying here again, and it is definitely the best Hotel in the area. The rooms are clean, the Wi-Fi is fast, the beds are comfortable, the ice machines, and other vending machines all work great. It feels safe, secure, and quiet. The only other thing I hope improves with future visits is that the management staff warm up,and get to know us like the old staff did. We use our room as a base camp after spending all day visiting relatives, and friends. We felt like management was trying figure out what we were up to because of our style of staying there as we always had before. We put out the do not disturb sign on our door, took out our own garbage, traded our dirty towels for clean ones daily. This seemed to cause suspicion,as management knocked on our door on the 5th day of our 7 night stay,at 10:30 am with the do not disturb sign out to introduce themselves. It was a very uncomfortable conversation,as she looked past me to try and see into the room.If she was curious, why not just ask why we prefer to skip housekeeping.I would of gladly explained that we were out until 3 or 4am every night with old friends, as we always have done when on vacation, and that we were sleeping, showering, etc way past the time the housekeepers were finished cleaning the rooms.Still nice Hotel
The hotel was clean, the staff friendly and helpful and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was what you would expect meaning it was standard self serve fare meaning it was OK but mostly convenient. I would stay there again.
This facility has ample parking. Close by to a Mexican restaurant.Customer service was good. Rooms clean and well kept. All and all a very nice stay. The breakfast was filling and nicely displayed. I would stay again
The rooms were clean and comfortable and well lit. The staff was very professional looking and courteous and the breakfast was very good. I arrived late and did not have a reservation but that was no problems as there were still rooms avaialbe and I was taken care of
It was a nice clean motel -- nothing extraordinary. A little older style, but comfortable and it hat a nice feel. That's all we needed. The only thing it needed was that I could find no kleenex in the room.
Our room was adjacent to the pool and was very comfortable. Beds, pillows and linens were comfortable. Housekeeping was not fully staffed and our room did not get cleaned. The pool deep end is 5'3" and could have been warmer but we still enjoyed it.
Nothing to look at from the outside, I was pleasantly surprised when I went in. An older hotel which has undergone an interior renovation. Rooms are basic, but clean, pillows are very nice and the staff was lovely. Their breakfast are is a tch small and they could add some fruit to the selections, but quite acceptable.
Speckles of dirt on my bed covers, terrible/dirty water from the sink / tub. I wouldn't stay here again. I'd take an extra drive to stay at my usual Marriott spots up to an hour away from Cherokee rather than stay in Cherokee.
This hotel located in the small town of Cherokee strives to make your stay comfortable. The staff are congenial, the rooms clean and the beds are very comfortable. Currently in the process of remodeling, but did not interfere with our stay. Pool has been broken for at least 4 months.
The outside of the building needs redone. The shower in the bathroom was dirty there were stains on the bottom. We accidentally forgot some items in the room we called to ask to retrieve them and mysteriously they were gone
Wonderful place to stay , great staff and very spontaneous . Fitness area is incredible .The breakfast was spectacular and beds are very comfortable ,rooms are clean and classy slept like a baby. Thank you for the outstanding hospitality.
Have stayed here many time over the years. The bathroom of our room has been updated, as has the breakfast area. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. However, the windows on the north side need to be seriously cleaned or replaced! There is green, thick mold growing at the bottom from high moisture. Worried about mold spores being spread. Crud also around the fixtures in the tub/shower. Again, deep cleaning needed. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hot breakfast was good, but the waffle batter was empty which was mentioned to the staff, but she didn't replace it. Check-in and out was quick and easy and accurate. Price was reasonable. Pool is closed and we were told it won't open until good bids are submitted for the repairs.
Nice place , set up was clean. Friendly staff at the desk , breakfast was good , clean dining area friendly staff in dining area. I felt very welcome with my stay. Pool was down at the time but looked like a nice area
I'm in town on business and have been staying here for a month with a month to go and I am so happy that I chose this hotel. The staff is great, the rooms are roomy and quiet Everything you need (grocery, laundry, food, and shopping) is in walking distance even on a cold Iowa morning. I book my rooms direct with the hotel since I travel on business year round. The rate was right and the room was as promised!
Staff was friendly. Room was very spacious and nicely decorated. Walls were thin, though... I could hear the person in the next room coughing and talking. The bathroom fan was noisy and came on automatically when the light was turned on. The bed was comfy and breakfast was great... waffles, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy. I went to work out in the pool, got in as far as my knees and couldn't go any farther because the water was so frigid. I stood for a while & tried to acclimate, but to know avail. I went back to my room to take a hot bath to warm up, but the water in the tap wasn't hot enough. I ran the tap at the hottest setting, but only managed a warm bath, not hot. Very frustrating.
Our group each had to change rooms at least once before we had a room that was ok. The carpets were wet in one room, the smell from the pool was overwhelming in an other and one room only had blankets, no comforters. Once we were able to land on a room, it was fine and suitable for the purpose of just sleeping. Overall the common areas such as the halls were dirty... needed vacuumed. It is a step down from a typical Best Western.
Excellent. I have stayed at this motel many times over the years. A person I knew very well built this motel when I was a banker in Cherokee. He was avery reputable business person and a friend. moved away, but returned often because I had family there. My wife and I had many comfortable nights at this motel. She is now deceased, but I will continue to come to Cherokee because of family living in the ares.
The hotel has a great staff check in/check out. Always has the rooms clean from night to night. The hotel itself needs a remodel which is in progress with hallways. Pool needs work, exterior also. Other than the looks of the hotel, stay is just fine.
Everything was fine until check out. I have never dealt with such a rude person. When asking for a receipt she refused to give me one because I booked online. Told me she couldn't give me one and other motels should not be giving me any. This was a nasty person and she should not be on the desk or should be retrained. I could not believe how she treated her guests. For this person I would never stay at this hotel again.
The hotel was clean and is worthy of a stay for almost anyone for any experience. It is located in a small area, where hotel choices can be limited and this one give a sense of stability and peace of mind.
Hotel was adequate. Nothing special. One of the two rooms booked had been smoked in and smelled of stale smoke. I mentioned it so that we weren't charged the 300.00 fee for smoking in a room but the desk clerk didn't seemed concerned - never offered another room. There wasn't much in the way of eating around the hotel except for a Mexican restaurant across the parking lot. Nasty food in my opinion, but nice staff. Probably wouldn't stay again. The hotel was totally full of construction workers hanging around all the outside areas, but good for their business! We just felt really outnumbered!
Stayed one night. Room and motel were clean. No suites but our king room had easy chair with ottoman plus the usual desk chair. Set of four towels, very fluffy. No guest laundry. Breakfast was very good with biscuits, gravy, sausage patties (all piping HOT) with usual waffles, cereal, yogurt and fresh fruit. Mexican restaurant next door was very good.
Great breakfast staff was friendly. It was not a five star hotel but for cherokee ia it was nice. It has truck parking and a nice mexican resturant next door and other resturants close buy. it was anice place to lay your head for the night.
Very clean large room. flat screen tv in room. Comfortable beds.No hot tub but pool was nice. Great small town hotel.would recommend this hotel if anyone will be staying in Cherokee. Normal hot breakfast
My sister and I stopped here for the night while we were on a road trip. We requested an accessible room and it was wonderful. Very clean and VERY large. Our only complaint was that the bathroom fan was loud and activated when you turned on the light. We reported it at check out and the maintenance man headed right to the room to look at it.
I have stayed at this property on numerous occasions. And, I have stayed at other properties in Cherokee, Iowa. This one is the best place to stay. Other places are cheaper by a couple bucks but they cannot compete with the quietness, friendly staff, easy access or the breakfast . . . which is one of the best. Will I stay here again? You bet.
I recently spent two nights at this hotel. We arrived late in the evening the first night. It was very warm outside that day (high 90's) and the room was stiflingly hot when we walked in. The air conditioning was not running. We turned it on and thought it would cool down as we got ready for bed. It never got very cool and we had some trouble sleeping the first night. We got up for breakfast the next morning and it was cooler, but still not very comfortable. The breakfast was typical hot hotel breakfast with waffles, sausage and biscuits and gravy. We didn't return to the room until after 10:00 pm that night. Although the day was much cooler, the room was not. I called the front desk, and they were able to switch us to a nearby room with functioning AC. That room cooled down quickly and we slept much better. The beds are actually pretty comfortable. We should have asked for a different room the first night, we just assumed the room would cool off, and once we were in bed and it was clear there was a problem with the AC, we didn't feel like changing rooms.
The only reason I'm doing this review is just in case the gal that helped me might get credit somehow. This survey is entirely too long by the way. At any rate I called from the road to book a room and talked to a gal named Erin. I'm not sure why, but I told her I would be a late check in most likely because I was going to the stock car races that night in a nearby town. When I gave her my name to check in later that evening, she asked me how the races were and we chatted a bit about shared experiences in racing. Then, I got to my room and it was dead bolted from the inside. I drug all my stuff down to the desk and she went up with me with a key, but couldn't get the key to work. So she said, "You just stay right here and I'll be right back. She came back with a key for the room right across the hall. Also, she made sure that I was nowhere near a group of construction workers that she felt might be up a good part of the night drinking beer. So as you know, it's people and how they treat your guests that mean much more than a comfortable pillow that make your business successful. On that note, I went to the front desk the next morning on my way out with a copy of one of the racing magazines that the company I own publishes with a note to Erin thanking her for her kindness. The kid running the desk didn't know who she was and seemed bothered that I was taking him away momentarily from whatever he was looking at on the computer. He said, "Oh that must be the new girl, I've never met her," as he flopped the magazine down out of the way. He had bad hair, a cheap tie and a cheezy caterpillar mustache, by the way. Exactly the opposite of "the new girl" in dress and demeanor. You might want to consider demoting captain fuzzball and promoting the new girl who ensured I'll stay at Best Western most likely the next chance I have to do so.
Rooms and rates were great. Had a room with a King bed that was very comfortable. The chairs in the room were also comfy. Bathrooms were clean and the shower head was elevated enough that my husband (over 6'2") didn't have to crouch down under it. The breakfast was typical. Stayed there for a funeral and the hotel allowed us the use of the dining area for a reception following. This was great as many were not from the area and having a venue available made it nice. The only "ding" is expensive pet fee of $25/night, max of $100.
Hotel was fine except the bathroom floor was very dirty. The grout and floor need a deep cleaning. We have stayed at this hotel before and the floor in the other room was the same. We purchased bath mats for the floor!
A. Easy to find B. Plenty of parking C. Friendly folks D. Clean & quiet E. Fast internet & a good roller chair F. Good breakfast served in a comfortable setting The above is why I stay here when working this area.
With only 3 choices in Cherokee, IA, I would recommend the Best Western. They are in the process of remodeling, but this did not interfere with our stay at all. New beds, New pool furniture, New lighting, Towels were very nice. Breakfast is sort of standard fare - coffee is way too weak!!! Still a very nice place to stay and the staff really were very friendly and eager to please.
Great staff, good value and clean. The hotel is also embarking on a 3-yr renovation. Staff was very friendly and helpful, snow was cleared effectively. Only issue was wifi which did not work for laptop, only for apple devices.
They offer a fair rate, good bed, large room, and the place is extra clean. - so I stay here when in the area. Good Mex food next door or several options down town - 10 blocks? I understand why they have a large repeat customer base.
Breakfast had a nice variety. The room was quiet and spacious. Fridge and microwave in room, comfortable bed. However, one of the 2 beds in my room had visible hair and dark lint balls on the sheets. The 2nd bed was OK so I did not have to report my concern during my stay. Comfortable heat in room for the cold weather.
Very nice room. Very good price. Nice pool. No hot tub. Great staff. Very clean. The MOST COMFORTABLE beds! We came in town for the Cherokee Blues Festival, and stayed here, because they were offering a 'package deal' and didn't have very high expectations, but we were both very surprised and happy when we saw the room. Also, when we checked in, they gave us this little gift bag, with all sorts of snacks and coupons for free things in town. We loved it. Jameson checked us in, and he was a very sweet young man. We appreciated everyone. Thank you for a great stay. When we come back to Cherokee, Iowa, we will look forward to staying here again.
Very nice room, clean, comfortable and quiet; I was surprised at how nice it is, especially when I am more used to 4 star hotels when I travel for business. The breakfast was excellent in a very nice dining room. Will stay here again when visiting relatives.
Several years ago a friend told me about the Best Western in Cherokee, Iowa. I stayed there while visiting the area a few weeks later and have stayed there everytime I am in that area. And the place keeps getting better and better. The rooms seem to all have been upgraded. Staff members from the maintenance man to the clerks all seem happier and with that, comes satisfied guests. My ONLY regret, and I understand why, is that the restaurant and bar have not reopened. When they were open, it was great to have a nice supper and a drink or two without having to leave the property. Especially on a cold Iowa night. I have yet to understand how one Best Western can be a dump and the next one be the quality of the Best Western in Cherokee. Then too, that is the same with other motel/hotel chains as well. What it boils down to is that the owner, or management, simply has to care.
The kids loved the pool. The adults loved the pillows!!! The staff was extremely helpful when I made phone calls prior to our stay and also during check-in. The rooms were clean and were larger than many we've stayed in. Breakfast was great, with waffles, biscuits and gravy and more!! We will stay here again when we are in Cherokee, IA!!!
I stayed over night at the best Western in Cherokee on a business trip, and was very pleased with my stay. The hotel is an older hotel, but is kept very clean. I was a bit disappointed that there was no hot tub by the pool, but that seems to be a feature that is on the way out because of the cost of maintenance. Instead, I soaked my sore muscles in a tub full of hot water in my room. The continental breakfast was OK, but nothing out of the ordinary. One could make waffles but there were no eggs of any kind. Again, the breakfast room was clean. The staff was extremely friendly and willing to help in any way. Eating places are close. If you're looking for a nice place to stay, this best Western is clean and quiet and worth the money.
This was my first time to need a dog-friendly hotel, and I appreciated the availability of rooms. Staff was very friendly and kind. The self-serve breakfast offered many options. The main parts of the room were clean; I found some dirt and a pretzel in a tight spot under the bed after Mom dropped something on the floor, and there was one sticky-floor spot in the bathroom; fortunately, it wasn't by the toilet. I don't travel much, so it's hard for me to assess whether the price was competitive, but when I booked by phone, I was offered several options for discounts, which I appreciated. I've stayed in a couple of other hotels in my hometown of Cherokee, and this was the nicest of the three.
Extremely helpful and friendly staff, a nice assortment of breakfast options from cereal/yogurt to eggs, biscuits and gravy. The rooms are spacious and clean (the bathroom light/de-humidifier is a bit noisy). Good location and fine amenities.
The service was really good when I checked in the staff was very helpful I stay at this Best western every time I'm in Cherokee IA. The rooms are clean beds are comfortable the morning breakfast is good there are lots of restaurant in the area overall I always have a great stay. Thanks to the staff
The room was average and clean. There was nothing special about anything here. My credit card was overcharged and when I sent an email in response to the invoice that was emailed to me I never received a response as to why I was charged more than what the invoice stated. I will not be staying at Best Western again. Also, after I left my room and the key inside my room to check out I realized I couldn't find my wallet. I went to the front desk and the desk clerk was someone I hadn't seen since my arrival and I explained my situation and asked if I could be let back in my room to check for my wallet. While I was happy he obliged and gave me a new key to the room he didn't even bother to check that my name was on the reservation for that room or accompany me to the room. I thought this was potentially an unsafe practice...
overpriced for location and services. No improvement in services compared to previous times we have stayed at this motel at a less price per night. We normally stay at this motel at 1 time a year when we are visiting family who live in Cherokee, IA
We have stayed at this hotel many times for an annual family reunion. The last couple of years had been quite disappointing. Some of the family members had expressed concerns. This stay was completely different. The hotel was cleaner & the staff was excellent! The company listened to our concerns & this stay was great.
At the time I was there, there were no non-smoking rooms available on the first floor. It took me five trips to get my recumbent and all of my gear upstairs to my room. The room was adequate. There was a decent breakfast provided in the morning.
This was a great place to stay for our family reunion. The hotel was nicely furnished. Our room look very new! The location is close to everything we needed. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. I believe it's that Iowa friendlyness. The pool area was quit nice also.
Housekeeping was very cordial and compliant. Needed elevator to 2nd floor. Quiet atmosphere. Parking was okay, but could use more parking spaces on the south. Hallways had a "old" smell. Could be freshened up or even new carpet.
I have been thinking of switching my fave hotel to Best Western!I usually stay at comfort Inn's i have only stayed at a few Best Western hotels, but the times i have stayed i have been very pleased!! he breakfast they provide was Very good! Only negative thing i could ask to improve upon is adding some movie channels. ~M & J ~
Nice place to stay. Friendly staff and very helpful. Pool for kids or adults. Rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable. Good work space for business traveler and plenty of light for doing paperwork.
