Resumen de la reserva
Charming little boutique inn with an ideal location right downtown Stratford backing on to the park. Please note though, three story hotel has no elevator. Rooms are clean and lovely. Beds very comfortable. The restaurant was popular, you may need reservations, we were on a waitlist, but the meal was worth waiting for. Overall a great stay and I would definitely stay here again.
I wouldn't stay here again. I'm not sure this place is actually a hotel. The booking went through with no problems, but the day of the reservation I got a rude call from an employee who didn't identify themselves demanding to know when we would arrive. I stated I was navigating and we'd be there as soon as possible, but couldn't speak at that time. She continued to yammer on about the amenities of the hotel including the bars hours. When we arrived, there was no parking and the reception was sketchily inside some pub. Just a kiosk in the middle of people drinking and eating. The hostess rudely informed me that we were on the third floor and there was no elevator, so I feel very lucky that we found a room in a real hotel. The woman seemed happy to make fun of the fact we had disabilities, and the experience was truly gross.
The Mercer has great advantages and two severe disadvantages. The advantages - great staff, clean rooms with good fridge and coffee machine and a nice large T.V., central location which is walking distance to the Avon/Studio theatre, the waterfront, good restaurants, chocolate shops, and enough parking. This is balanced by two severe disadvantages. There are a lot of steps - from the parking lot to the hotel, and from the hotel to the rooms. Nothing really can be done about this, it is a matter of history and geography. But the second disadvantage can be fixed - the beds are simply too high for the average person to get into. There is no reason for a bed to be four to five feet off the floor - none. Each night my short friend with poor knees struggled to get into and out of the bed. This a a growing problem with the entire Best Western chain, and really has to be looked into. Not sure we will be back any time soon. Which is a shame - see all the advantages and make your choice.
The room was nice, and the staff were super helpful and very professional. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone. It's not your typical big Hotel experience, it was a delightful boutique experience. It was great and I'm very happy I chose the Mercer Hotel!
We had a lovely time the food and service was exceptional as usual Brook was very helpful assisting us with our reservation and parking during our stay, even allowing us to check in early. The pillows were also very comfy and soft we had the best sleep in the comfy beds
The room was great, the bed very comfortable, and the staff very friendly. The food was excellent in the restaurant. Be prepared for a pretty steep climb up the stairs. This hotel is in a great location near all of the Stratford theaters, restaurants, and shops.
We stayed here recently while seeing several shows in Stratford. We loved the location - you can easily walk to the Avon and Patterson theaters, and the Festival Theatre is only about a 15-minute walk away. It's also very convenient for shopping and coffee. The rooms were very nicely appointed, and felt very roomy, with high ceilings. We had everything we needed, including a Nespresso coffee maker and a jacuzzi tub. The bed was comfortable , too. Despite the rooms being above the (excellent) restaurant, we heard no noise from downstairs at all. We also appreciated the daily room refresh. My only slight concern was that the window shades were somewhat hard to raise and lower. We will definitely look to stay here again on our next visit to Stratford.
This was a clean and good hotel. It's in a great location. A lot of reviews complain about the stairs. I live in a house with lots of stairs so I am used to it and I fortunately only had to walk up one flight of stairs because when I arrived there was no one to help with my suitcase due to a late train. I could have managed the additional floor, but it would have been a pain. There was a (gas or electric) fireplace (for use in winter) and two chairs in addition to the bed. Nice big windows with curtains. A fridge stocked with wine, beer, mineral water. A basket on top of the fridge with chocolate, candies, popcorn and other treats. I would have preferred not to have the candy in the room, but I didn't ask them to take it away. Shampoo, conditioner and soap were provided via refillable bottles on the wall. Unfortunately, I ate a chocolate bar and a bag of nibbles. I was able to replace the chocolate bar from Rheo Thompsons, but not the nibbles at the candy shop on York Street where they were from. They weren't selling them anymore. Or perhaps they were sold out. It saved me a couple of bucks to replace the chocolate bar. The only reason I ate it was because it was there, which was frustrating. On the other hand, if you arrived at the room and had no food and it was late at night it might be a godsend. My room looked out the back over a rooftop at an unused bicycle, cheerfully painted and placed for aesthetics, not use! I loved it. My room was quiet and nice. The staff were friendly. The breakfast coupons are really only for a free drink, although it seems as if you are getting breakfast included. The first day, I ate there because I thought it was free, but it was about $16 just for the breakfast. I don't eat eggs, so it was bacon, toast and home fries. But the bacon was incredibly salty. Obviously, from some local distributor or intended to look like it, but it was just awful. The potatoes ever so slightly undercooked. The "free" coffee was just regular restaurant coffee. Coffee at Balzacs across the street is still great. The server was super nice though. All the servers were. I found it odd there was no fizzy mineral water available to buy in the hotel, but the barman gave me a giant glass of soda water and did offer me a pitcher of it. The patio is nice. I had a drink there, but no other food after the first day. I never met the owner Ryan, I believe, but he was very helpful due to a late train and late arrival because the reception desk situated in the restaurant isn't open at night. But it was easy to follow his directions and find the hotel room keys etc. in the little box inside the door using a secret code. Really appreciated the whole visit etc. However, I did think it was really overpriced for what it is...It is making it prohibitive to go to Stratford -- the high prices of accommodations and the tickets... Obviously, they are free to charge what they like and I paid it, but I will think long and hard before spending that kind of price again for something so basic.
Hotel is lovely and service is great!! Manager Ryan went out of his to help me when my train arrived late for check-in. Location is perfect for sightseeing and highly recommend the Coconut Curry Mussels. Will definitely come back to this very clean and friendly hotel.
Fresh decor, and comfortable beds for a great night sleep. The exceptional customer service keeps me coming back. If you want to explore Stratford this is the best place to start. Awesome menu and a great selection of the best craft beer. I will be back.
Customer service is top notch! Several friendly team members routinely checked in with me to ensure that my every need was taken care of! I was welcomed back as a returning customer and greeted by name. The excellent breakfasts set me up for a successful days.
Right in the heart of downtown Stratford, steps away from great dining options. Short walk to most theatres. The towels are excellent quality and the sheets are so smooooth. Fridge in room, Nespresso coffee maker. Tetley tea bags. Just wish they didn't have powdered creamer. Very happy they have gone mostly green in that there are no more little bottles of shampoo etc. just big ones mounted in the shower. If you have mobility issues, there is no elevator, keep in mind, this is a very old building. Save $$ by becoming a Best Western member.
Overall great stay. No elevator isn't the most convenient but I knew that at time of booking. Staff are willing to help if needed. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was affordable, and delicious! Atmosphere was great.
The room was very comfortable and I had a nice view out the back of Lake Victoria. TV and WIFI worked well. The hotel is in the middle of town. Close to the Avon, Studio and Tom Patterson theatres and the Festival Theatre is not that much farther away. The restaurant/tavern downstairs is very good and other great restaurants surround the hotel. Staff are very helpful. Nice place to stay.
We have stayed at this hotel multiple times and each time the staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is located over a restaurant/bar but we stay on the third floor and are not disturbed. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We really enjoy our stays here.
The location of this hotel is one of the major perks. You are walking distance to 3 of the 4 theaters. The rooms are unique and similar to what you would see in a classic B&B. The restaurant on the first floor is worth more than one meal during your stay. The only negative is that there is no elevator and all rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floor. We've been coming here for 40+ years and love it.
We loved our stay here. Staff were helpful, friendly and accommodating. Rooms were large and had everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Location was close to everything and convenient. The restaurant had excellent and attentive service and friendly staff! Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Very cosy and quiet. The staff is very friendly. Nice breakfast in the restaurant. No elevator and somewhat narrow stairs but more of an inconvenience than a problem. Parking behind the hotel. Close to the river with it's fantastic surroundings.
stayed at the hotel in October and had a dbl queen room facing the street. This time had the standard queen that was inferior in terms of view, privacy, layout.. Bed was comfortable, room was clean. Breakfast was very good and good value especially if you prepay. In speaking with staff either the dbl queen or king with jacuzzi are better room choices.
My mom, daughter and I took a quick trip to Stratford for fun. We booked our night away at The Mercer Hotel and it did not disappoint. A sweet little hotel, with lots of personality and great staff. Parking was at the back of the hotel, easy to access and only $15 per night. You enter the hotel through the main hotel restaurant entrance and the desk is by the bar. Super friendly and helpful manager checked us in and carried our bags up the single flight of stairs to our room. Reminded me of Europe with no elevators, but it was not an issue. Our room was a great size with a view of the main street, giant windows, high ceilings and comfy beds. We had a mini fridge and nespresso machine and sink in the small kitchenette area, it's all we needed. The bathroom was small but had a great shower and all the amenities we needed. Restaurant was great, and food was super delicious. Perfect location in the middle of downtown, we could easily walk to everything. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
The staff at both the hotel and restaurant are fun, caring, and put customers first. We had a great 2 nights staying here, was a seamless and easy travel experience. The location was very central to everything Stratford had to offer.
Spent 2 nights Great restaurant and the room had a fireplace burning on the Tv when we arrived Nice touch The location is in the middle of everything and quite quiet and peaceful after hours Local beers on tap in the bar is always a treat
The service was very friendly and they really wanted to be of help. The room was beautiful, very pretty and clean. The restaurant downstairs was delicious and fun, and the hotel was in a perfect location for walking around Stratford for a weekend.
The bed was like sleeping on a 4x8 sheet of plywood. The two pillows were either flat or much too big. There was a clicking noise all night. Couldn't see anything through the peep hole. In the morning we got locked out. There was no one on site and two calls to the emergency number weren't returned for 5+ hours! Fortunately another disgruntled guest let us in to retrieve our car keys we left in the room.
In town for a concert and stayed at the Mercer boutique hotel with restaurant and pub Food is Good and great beer selection, staff is very friendly and attentive but like everywhere short on staff. Rooms are clean and modern with all of the amenities. Super location in the heart of quaint downtown. Love the local flair with minimal to next to no corporate stores.
We had a terrific stay at The Mercer. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean quaint and very comfortable. The in house restaurant was really an amazing experience everything was top notch, food service and value. Highly recommend this lovely gem of a hotel in downtown Stratford.
In spite of a few small deficiencies, we enjoyed the Mercer very much. Smack in the middle of town, easy walking distance to all theatres, quiet, clean and with good parking. This is the first time a receptionist has offered to carry my bags to my room for many years. Parking can be a bit tricky to find. It's off Cobourg Street at the rear of the hotel and spaces are marked "Mercer". From there you can enter the hotel during the day through the service entrance.
The Mercer Hall Inn has been our choice for a great many years. It's location, ease of parking, big comfortable rooms, a nice restaurant and bar, ease of access to the Festival theatres, right there for shopping, walking etc.. You can't do better than the Mercer!
Great hotel, the staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. We will definitely be back and will recommend. Chef Dion out did himself with the courses he prepared for us! We throughly enjoyed our visit.
We enjoyed a wonderful one night stay at the Mercer hotel. Staff was very welcoming and accommodating. The room was clean, comfortable and nicely designed. Its a great location in Stratford. We would definitely like to return again!
The rebranding of the Mercer as part of the Best Western chain has not hurt the property one bit. Nice accessible bed, generous washroom space, comfortable seating, quiet room, Nespresso machine, kettle, bottle opener and wine glasses in the room. Shame we could only stay one night. Very amenable and pleasant staff. Only deficiency of the property - as with other inns in Stratford - is the lack of an elevator. We were given a room on the third floor and it was a long walk up and down.
Downtown location is excellent and within walking distance to all theaters and dining. Service was excellent and enjoyed menu options at on-site restaurant. Parking was an included bonus. The only drawback for some may be the lack of an elevator.
The accommodation was clean and spacious. We loved the location and the restaurant below. The Mercer is a small boutique hotel with only 14 rooms and no elevator but other than that minor inconvenience, we loved it! The bed was very comfortable.
The Mercer was a lovely boutique hotel with a great bar/restaurant attached. It made our overnight stay in Stratford so much better than we expected. The service was great, the room was lovely, and the food and drinks at the restaurant were delicous!
No stairs - rooms on third floor required a lot of climbing As hotel is on Main Street - traffic very noisy Within easy walking distance of Shakespeare Gardens and theatres Lovely shady pathways along the river
I have stayed several times. The staff are always helpful and the restaurant below has lovely food. The hotel is 3 stores and has no elevator. If carrying luggage is a challenge, they will carry it up for you when you check in.
We truly enjoyed our stay! Perfect location for us to be able to park and enjoy all that Stratford has to offer for the weekend. The Restaurant served excellent food and provided great service. Would definitely stay here again
We stayed for one night in March. It was great! Good sized room, clean, comfortable. So nice to just walk out the door and right in downtown for restaurants and shops. Staff were nice and helpful. We plan to stay here again
The hotel couldn't be in a better spot. We enjoy walking around town & visiting all the shops. We were able to make frequent stops throughout the day back to our room to drop off shopping bags & catch a quick rest. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful (especially Brooke). We look forward to coming back!
A million thanks to the staff of the Mercer! We booked a one night romantic getaway for Valentines Day and had a lovely time. A well equipped, clean room with a jacuzzi tub and electric fireplace. The package also included a bottle of organic sparkling wine and a $50 voucher for the in-house restaurant. The food was amazing! We shared the appetizer share plate (I.e. the Godzilla platter) and it was too much for us to finish. Defined 5 stars! Great staff, great food, great stay
It's an interesting experience walking into a restaurant/bar that has been forced to close by the government. There is just a small counter for hotel reservations. That said, Ryan couldn't have been more pleasant. Walked me through the closed space, to enter the hotel at the rear of the building, and showed me where the parking was. There's also an entrance to the hotel at the front. The room was spacious, outfitted with a jacuzzi and a fireplace, with a view of the river, currently frozen over. Window has just a plastic blind which I thought was a bit downscale. Everything was so clean it shined. Room also had a small table set with plates/cutlery/wine glasses. Which leads me to room service, which was an excellent choice. Arrived quickly, fresh from the kitchen. Express check-out, so just leave the keys in the room, receipt sent by email.
So pleasantly surprised with the quality and cleanliness of the rooms! Staff were very helpful and friendly! The building exuded a great comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely stay here again.
We loved staying in this hotel. It was in a great location in downtown Stratford and the beds were very comfortable. Be advised there are a lot of stairs so if you have mobility concerns this it not the place to stay. The staff were friendly and very helpful and we would definitely stay again.
Girls weekend in Stratford at Mercer Hall. The food is outstanding !!! The rooms are cozy and clean. Staff were very friendly and accommodating!! Would recommend staying and eating at Mercer Hall !! Can't wait to go back!
We enjoyed our 2 night stay at Mercer and were very happy with the stay. We were welcomed warmly in the restaurant and gave all the information we needed for our stay. We had booked the small king sized room facing the street on the second floor, it was more then adequate for using the room as a base to walk around. The room was very clean and comfortable, the bathroom was also very clean. We enjoyed our meal at the beer hall, the atmosphere was delightful. Parking out back was included, we did feel slightly apprehensive having it in the back alley, but it was perfectly fine. Lovely stay.
Loved the room. Big windows with lots of natural light. Super comfy bed. Everything was spotless and felt homey. Lady at reception was also so nice and told us about her Justin bieber/Selena gomez encounters. Great location would go back again!
Perfect location for getting around in Stratford. The room was absolutely beautiful and spotless. Not a speck of dust anywhere. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Only complaint is that the mattress was way to hard.
Cool little Inn right in the centre of downtown Stratford. Friendly place with a super location. Room was clean, comfortable and had both a mini fridge and microwave. Our room was overlooking the street, so there was some street noise until around 11pm from the patio crowd. Would definitely return for a fun night away.
The hotel is right on one of the main strips of downtown Stratford and walking distance to all of the attractions, many restaurants, cafes and shops. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Our room had a view of Victoria Lake which was nice. The staff is very friendly. We also ended up having dinner at the Mercer Kitchen + Beer Hall. The food was fantastic! We would definitely visit again.
My wife and I loved this little hideaway hotel/inn in the middle of downtown Stratford. The hotel is tucked away in the corner of a building above the hotel restaurant. Such a great memory maker! Tips for your stay: 1) reception is inside the restaurant/bar. 2) Parking behind the building. 3) This hotel is NOT handicapped friendly (sadly) and has no elevator. BUT... if you can handle stairs it is SOOO worth it to stay here! We'd definitely stay here again sometime!
The rooms themselves (or at least ours) was SO nice. The restaurant below has amazing food. The only problem was that being directly above the restaurant bar, it is SO loud at night. The bass of the music seems to boom through the hotel. Because of COVID it was only open until 11PM but during normal weekends it would typically be 2. We were not out late because I am pregnant and it was definitely too loud to sleep through. The TVs are also crap. Basic cable, no guide for channels, and no Smart TV options so for us just chilling from 9-11pmish that was a little annoying.
I enjoyed my stay at The Mercer. The hotel had a discounted breakfast option. At the time, it was $10 for a breakfast entree and tea/coffee. I ordered the french toast and it was delicious. The only strange thing about the room was the lack of a table or coffee table. It was difficult finding a place use my laptop or eat. Especially since many restaurants were take-out only, it was uncomfortable eating with no table. I would stay there again; however, I would call ahead and request a table. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and I had a very good sleep. The room was clean and spacious.
Food is amazing, room was huge and the bed was very comfortable. Great service as well. I wouldn't book the jetted tub again though. The staff was really friendly and dinner and breakfast was great. Wonderful selection of beer too!
Well!y husband and young daughter stopped in for lunch today and were we ever glad we did! The servers were PHENOMENAL: incredibly friendly and accommodating with picky burger topping order! My daughter ordeeed the kids macwn cheese with Caesar salad.... wow... my husband and I tried a bit each and loved it lol! My husband and I both ordered burgers which were beyond my expectations. The staff were so polite, attentive and just all around pleasant. I would definitely recommend this place to others and we will definitely be returning in the future.
After venturing out during a snow storm from London, we were happy to have arrived safely and were ready to settle in. The manager (Mark) was busy handling cancellations due to weather. I joked about an upgrade (we had already booked a spa suite) and Mark was indeed able to oblige and a short drive away we were tucked into "The Plums" which is a house converted into extended stay apartments. The bed was comfy, we made good use of the soaker tub and the service was excellent overall!
Check in was a breeze, fast, friendly and efficent. I booked on line and got a great deal. I was on the third floor so lots of stairs. very nice comfortable room with all the amenities. Parking was a little confusing but figured it out, not much of a view from my room but overall very happy. I would stay here again.
Last minute decision to spend the night in Stratford. Had a great room on the second floor facing the main street. Very clean and comfortable. Free parking for hotel guests. Excellent staff. Did not get a chance to eat at the restaurant downstairs as it was closed for a private function.
Right downtown and convenient to all theatres, the Mercer Hotel offers well appointed and clean rooms at very affordable pricing. The added bonus is the superb restaurant, Mercer Hall, on the first floor.
