Best Western Ottumwa Inn & Suites

From walking in to leaving everything was nice. The parking lot was clean, lobby was well lit and clean, no odd smells anywhere in the building, room was spacious and looked like it had been renovated recently. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. We do not eat breakfast but did go down to see what was there - looked like a typical breakfast provided at hotels and plenty of food out. We were there 3 nights and really enjoyed everything. I would recommend this hotel.

This hotel was a great value, clean and updated rooms, very friendly staff, pool, with hot breakfast included. Very friendly and helpful staff - the young lady at the front desk was able to put us in a room near family who was also staying there. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend!

Avoid this hotel at ALL costs! We checked in for a two night stay, but left after the first night. The internet didn't work, the cable didn't work, the iron in the room was broken. When I called the front desk to ask what was going on, the female who answered the phone informed me it was her first night and she didn't know what to do or where her supervisor was. This hotel also does not secure the front doors at night, and no one man's the front desk. There's a note giving a phone number to call if you need to speak with someone. So anybody can walk into the hotel at any given time. The security here is non existent. When I went to check out the male desk clerk told me his system was running very slow, so he would email me my receipt. That I refused, and waited for him to print my receipt to make sure he only charged me for one night. I also told him I shouldn't be charged the full priced as I didn't receive full services. When I said this, he acted as if he couldn't understand me. I did receive my invoice, and it was only for one night. Later that day, I checked my credit card and they have charged me for two nights! Believe me when I say to STAY AWAY from this hotel! Owners please contact me as I have plenty more to say about my stay in your hotel.

This was a very nice stay. Our room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was good. The staff were all very friendly as well. We would definitely stay here again if we are ever in the Ottumwa area and recommend this hotel if you're traveling through here.

The remodeling of this Inn was completed since our stay here last year. This was our annual stop here (4th year), as we stay here for the Knoxville Nationals in Knoxville, IA. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff is friendly and personable. It is easily accessible. The price is also reasonable.

Quiet neighborhood and walkable side streets after a long motorcycle trip. Maybe the most comfortable beds ever!

I was greeted by two long term guests sitting in front by the main office playing on phones smoking. The following night the police were beating on a door at 3:00 am the long term guests are not a benefit to the property

The room was clean and quiet with a comfortable bed. Breakfast had egg omelettes and sausages, breads, waffles, yogurt, water and coffee. The lady at the front desk is always polite and accommodating.

We would not feel comfortable staying here again. Staff less than helpful. Under construction-should not have been open for business until completed. Complimentary breakfast was very dissatisfying. No parking lot. Had to park in dusty dirty parking lot not connected very well to the hotel. Car was dust covered when leaving.

Our stay was pleasant. Check-in was great. There was construction, however, by evening they had all the lobby put back together so our family could come visit. Rooms were nice. Pool is open. Breakfast was decent.

I come back to Ottumwa each year to visit family. I have always stayed at this property. While the Hotel has gone through different ownership changes and changed Brands, it is still my hotel of choice. A room here is approximately 30 to 40% less than what you will pay on the South side. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable. While it is not a resort hotel, it is a good place to get a good nights sleep when are in Ottumwa for Business or Pleasure!!

The bathroom was dirty. The tub was covered in black soap scum and mold in the corners. The floor was dirty. The hallway had an unpleasant smell. Breakfast only offered cold cereal, waffle or over salty and cold biscuits and gravy. Just not what I'm used to with Best Western. The price was reasonable.

The staff was very friendly, and it was a Best Western which is a brand we've usually been ok with. We were told that this one was just taken over by new management and maybe they are still trying to get things figured out. The people before us had used the ice bucket for a different purpose, it looked like it had crumbs and dog hair all over it. I can't imagine how housekeeping missed this. They need to do a lot of repair but mostly cleaning.

I didnt think the comforters were comforters at all and had to keep warm with a sheet. And the manager wanted me to pay $25 for 1 hour late check out when I was unable to check in on time due to them not having my room ready being under staffed.

Overall it's a good hotel but it is not a kid friendly the front desk guy was freaking rude when one of the kids screamed and later that same night a man came knocking and rudely said to get out because we were too loud so if you have kids don't stay there

I am not one to that does many bad reviews as I like to work issues out with the establishments first. I booked 5 rooms for me and my friends for two nights (Friday- Sunday). All the rooms had some sort of issue with cleanliness. My room was a double queen bedroom. Sadly, the one queen bed was totally unuse able. It had two big dips that went down about 6'' on both sides. That didn't happen overnight. We discovered it late but told the front desk person about all the dirt and trash on the floor along with the bed issue. I asked that they get a new bed for us (the hotel was far from full). I was told that there would be a breakfast and I was told specifically told they had microwavable sandwiches, yogurt, cereal, pastries. Well, the only items where oatmeal but no milk, hard boiled eggs but no salt or pepper, breakfast bars and juice. The staff told me it was under new ownership and things hadn't been transferred over yet. They also said that they only had one person to do all the housekeeping work. When I asked for about what they were going to do about the bed they said they were unwilling to do anything. I asked for compensation of some type for my room and for my friends due to how dirty they were and that there really wasn't a breakfast. I didn't make any suggestion but, was told the only thing the manager was willing to do was move us to another room which would have meant we would have to pack everything back up and would be on a different floor as well. After complaining they did go out to Walmart and stock up the breakfast area better but still not with all the items I was told there would be. I know that I will not stay there again.

Very comfortable and clean. The staff is the best. They were dealing with a sick guest when I arrived and they still went out of their way to help me. I would stay there again. Very good value for the cost.

Our inability to connect to WIFI was disappointing. We brought Chromebooks, ipads, and other smart devices and were forced to use phone data due to WIFI issues. Management was unable to address the issue during our 2 day visit.

Upon entering the room, there was a musky odor (which we did not report). However, it did not take long to get over that. The refrigerator in the room was not working and was quickly replaced. The internet connectivity/speed was something to be desired as it was very slow. Other than that, the room accommodations were great and comfortable. It was clean and spacious as well. The staff we dealt with throughout our stay were professional and personable. If we were to be in the area again, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

The staff was very friendly and room was clean and comfortable. There are some restaurants across the way but breakfast is available every morning in the lobby. Thank you Kimberly! I will miss staying here when I go back to work out of state.

The manager is friendly and done her best to ensure I enjoyed my stay while there. All of the staff are very friendly and professional! The hotel is nice and clean it's always smells clean when you walk in the front door, my room was cleaned daily with fresh linens and trash removed, great tv channels always something to watch. It's was a relaxing and comfortable stay. I loved that there was guests washer and dryer because I hate going to coin laundries. I most definitely will be staying at SureStay hotel every time I go to Ottumwa!

The manager was so kind and was very professional for my entire stay at hotel. The rooms were clean and fresh smelling clean like fresh linens. I will definetly come back another time. The staff was friendly and kept up with towels and laundry whenever I needed new. And they took out my trash all without me even having to ask

I stayed back in July. I was sent to the area for work. I was impressed by how the manager Kris and her staff were trying to clean the place up. Always saying hi and quick to help even though they were pulling weeds and cleaning. They always made you feel welcome and would be right there if you needed anything. So when I was sent back to the area again I booked a room again. When I was getting checked in the manger was passing through and stopped and said " are you back for work again?" I travel a lot and you dont see that very much. I also noticed that they had made some improvements and the lobby welcoming with holiday decorations. I was again impressed at how Kris and her staff made me feel welcome and at home. Thank you for another great stay and I will be back to stay agian.

Good things - very competitively priced, comfy bed, newer hotel (maybe renovated) Fresh towels everyday! Not all places do that, I appreciate that as I use a workout facilty near by and shower occasionally 2 times a day. Bad - Not clean enough. Body hair all over the bathroom, some mold in the corners of bathroom. Poor craftsmanship on renovation. Tile chipping in all 3 rooms I've stayed in over last 4 weeks. The 2nd room I stayed in the top hinge was loose and the door had to be lifted to shut properly. The 3rd room I stayed in the p-trap on the sink mustve been plugged as the sink would quickly back up after having the faucet on for a short period of time. The first room had a curious brown smudge on the tag on the hair dryer that hangs next to the sink? I don't use the hair dryer but not something I want to stare at whilst brushing my teeth. The worst experience I had with this hotel is that on the 1st morning I was leaving for work, I let the manager know in a soft concerned tone that the bathroom floor had hair on it that did not belong to me, and she stated that she would "let them know". 3 days later and still hairy floors.

The hot tub still needs fixed. Our door wasn't locked when we got up there and seems to be previously kicked in by someone. We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions now and is a better value then hitless we previously stayed at in the area.

Very nice hotel. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. The interior could use a few touch ups, but overall great stay. Rooms were a little smaller than i expected but thats ok. Breakfast was good. Will be back.

Make sure you check your bank account to make sure your not double charged and be sure to get a hand written receipt when computers and printers are down. Also room was not cleaned for next day stay and breakfast bar not stock when out of food and hot tub is still not fixed when was Fairfield, Lexington, and now SureStay.

When I arrived to check in, I discovered that I had already been charged for my stay. This was most frustrating because I planned on using an alternated form of payment at check-out. In addition when I asked for my receipt, the front desk staff proceeded to inform me that they could not provide a receipt because I paid online.

WELL I HAVE stayed at this motel for few years .this is by far my worst stay yet . room very hot till about 4 am each day /lobby very hot . and they used to have good breakfast ..first day no bacon milk very warm . second day no waffles very warm milk (you think they would put on ice if fridge dont cool) . and was told price is going up . well folks this will more the likely staying here and i wont recommend it

A relative stayed here last night and said it was the worst hotel experience of his life. The owners and managers REALLY NEED TO CLEAN THE PLACE UP and get reliable help. Among the complaints: smells like mold, holes in drywall, rust in shower, AC barely functioning, carpet in hallway squishes when walking on it, and more. I'm not sure why they can't fix it up, clean it up, make it a positive experience. The people who posted a positive rating must have been paid to do so. Seriously. Horrible. Try one of the other 7 in town.

I checked in went to visit with family. When I came back that night I was looking for the paper that has the channel list for the TV so I was opening the dressers I found trash in ALL the drows. There was empty beer bottles empty liquor bottles ..trash from there food ..i went down stairs to speak to somwone about it and all they said was sorry .Didn't offer a new room nothing . I spoke to the manger the next morning and NOTHING again. I spent good money for two night and three days and I didn't stay but 4 hours in the room all to gather because of the trash. What else did they NOT clean ..i was grossed out but out of my money.
