"Average hotel in the suburbs"

Stayed here during a business trip. The rooms are a little dated and remind me of the 70's although clean and tidy could do with a little modernisation. It was quite hot outside (32deg) but the room was like an oven, to the point of not being able to sleep. I asked for a fan but all 20 that the hotel own, had been given out already, be careful as the rooms are not air conditioned at all. It's a good 30-45 minute walk to the restaurants in town. The staff are pleasant and welcoming. Breakfast buffet was excellent with a good selection. Although it was a nice hotel, I would look elsewhere next time I am in town unfortunately mainly due to the room temperature...

Thank you for your good Feedback about or staff and the rich freakfastbuffet. But sorry, I have a different attitude about heat and air conditioning. I can therefore understand why you would like to live somewhere else. As long as there is no ecological, energy-efficient and healthy solution, we will delay the installation of air conditioning systems. Thank you for your understanding. Here is an excerpt from an article in "gesundheit.de": Health disadvantage of air conditioning systems Many people who are regularly exposed to air-conditioned air in the office, for example, complain of adverse effects: too much draught, too much cold, too dry mucous membranes. As a result, there are more diseases, primarily colds, problems with the bronchi and sinuses and increased susceptibility to infections. Irritated skin and mucous membranes, headaches and concentration disorders are also attributed to the conditioned air. And again and again there are reports that air conditioning systems mutate into killers if not maintained properly: Legionnaire's disease, in particular, can lead to severe, potentially fatal pneumonia. The air conditioning stinks? Cleaning helps. Microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi lead an unnoticed and undisturbed life of their own in the filters and pipes of air conditioning systems. They collect and reproduce and are flung directly into the human organism by the air stream. With high humidity the moulds are particularly pleased. High humidity is caused, among other things, by condensation when hot air cools down. Air conditioning systems must be professionally serviced at least once a year - technical and hygienic defects can only be remedied in good time with such an air conditioning system maintenance. Air conditioning makes you ill Even if the air conditioning system is maintained optimally, it can have disadvantages: With outside temperatures of 30 or 40 degrees Celsius and high humidity, everyone starts sweating. In an air-conditioned and therefore cool office, restaurant or hotel room it is easy to catch a cold - the abrupt change between high and low temperatures stresses the immune system and weakens the immune cells. The sweat suddenly cools down, the dry air additionally irritates the mucous membranes of the upper airways - many types of viruses have an easy game and the stiff neck is not long in coming. In addition, the cardiovascular system is also under great strain. To avoid abrupt temperature fluctuations, especially in hot summers, air conditioners should not be set too cool - the temperature difference between inside and outside should not exceed 6°C. If necessary, keep a jacket handy even in summer. American researchers have discovered that air conditioners make you fat. What sounds like an April Fool's joke is explained as follows: In always equal and well-tempered interiors you sweat and freeze less frequently - and thus use less energy.

"Good hotel but rooms hot and laundry slow."

A nice hotel, there is limited parking but rooms and inside is nice, the pool is good with outdoor terrace, the rooms were hot and poorly ventilated when i was there, i also didnt like the lack of parking and my laundry did not achieve advertised speeds... Breakfast is good

BWHotelHeide, Manager at Best Western Hotel Heide, responded to this review
Thank you dear guest. We have only a few sunny days in Oldenburg, that the environmentally harmful air conditioning systems are not worthwhile. But you can help yourself with a fan. If there is no parking space available, simply use our underground car park. Thank you again for your visit.

"Suburban location but efficient, human and fair value"

Located in residential suburbs of the town, so SatNav needed. On the positive side, I found the staff courteous, willing to help and human. Free parking is available. The food was good and the room was well sized. On the down-side the English language version of the menu is out-of-date and lists items no longer available; this meant I ended up with a main course and suite I didn't order, but they tasted OK anyway. Fullsome breakfast, lots of choices. I noticed a sign to a swimming pool downstairs, not used by me, but might be a bonus for some. No airconditioning - was needed on a hot summer night. Overall fine.

Thank you very much. I am delighted that you felt comfortable with us. Little things are always there, but that also makes it so human. Best regards

We spent some time in Oldenburg and stayed in the Best Western Hotel. We booked a bigger room and it was quite well, the beds were good. However: Wifi didn't work in our room, only in the central hall. The staff was very nice and helpfull. Though everything was there, there was hardly any atmosphere in the hotel. The breakfastroom was small and noisy, and especially if you are used to some silence in the morning, it isn't very helpfull.

"Best Western Hotel Heide, Oldenburg Germany"

Very nice hotel where the staff is very friendly and helpful with any needs you may have. Accommodations were comfortable and the breakfast was very good and plentiful. This hotel is a short walk to the Zentrum pedestrian area where you can walk around, shop and where you can find any number of good restaurants.

"realy good hotel"

"outdated small rooms"

The room was very clean, but that is the only thing positive about it. It was outdated and way to small. Made me feel like I was at boardingschool. Only difference the rate and the loud soccerfans in the bar!

"Definitely a hotel to recommend"

This is definitely a hotel to recommend. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who are always ready to help. Clean comfortable room and hotel. Breakfast is a magnificent buffet. Can't think of a thing to complain about!

"Excellent value for money"

Great stay at this hotel. All staff from reception to restaurant were absolutely nice and helpful. Room was very clean and quiet, with the radiators and all other appliances in good working condition. Bed was comfortable and the linen was good quality. Bathroom was spacious and spotless. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of good quality options. Internet was working well.

"Very nice hotel in a very convenient location"

I stayed at the hotel for just under two weeks and it was great. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean, the staff is very kind and thoughtful, and the breakfast is excellent with a great selection (and a cute beverage corner is always open during the day). The location is especially convenient - a bus stop to the city center or central train station is just minutes away from the hotel (the bus ride is only about ten minutes to either and it is about 25 minutes walk), also about 25 minute walk to the University and there is a supermarket and several nice bakeries down the street.

"Best Western Hotel Heide: A Spooky Stay in Oldenburg"

The Best Western Hotel Heide was one of the spookiest stays of the trip to Germany. There was no air-conditioning and particularly on the second visit we had to leave the big windows wide open. To make it worse there were no screens. Being Americans it left us feeling exposed. You know, what if somebody climbed in the window at night? The building next door was not all that far away. Despite the fact that we noticed it was a tax office during the day, when it was dark I kept on seeing a lady in the window across from us looking in at us. At one point the light in the next building went on at 3AM, waking me up.. The situation led to sleepless nights staring at the window. I couldn't wait for dawn and the breakfast room to open so I could escape from room 107.

"Not good not bad just ordinary"

+ very very good and helpful staff + Moderate breakfeast + pool and small welness center - Limited and slow internet - very old fashioned room - low quality in entire hotel - no tea and coffee set in the room - not close to city center - Quality/price rate is fair.

BungerM, Leiter Gästebetreuung at BEST WESTERN Hotel Heide, responded to this review
Dear Guest, thank you for completing our survey. Thank you for the compliments for our staff. I´m sorry, that you were not satisfied. You always get free coffee and tea on your room. Everything in our hotel has a good quality. Please let us know directly, is something wasn´t ok. Kind regards

"Lot of features and very friendly staff"

I stayed 2 night in a rather small room. There is a nice wellness area including a fairly big pool. Breakfast had a lot of choices and was generous! A good place to stay even though a few steps away from the centre.

A very nice and comfortable hotel in a residential area with FREE parking, The rooms are of a nice size and very clean , nice bathroom. The restaurant is nice, breakfast is the best value we encountered in Germany.
