We stayed at the Best Western Voyageur Place for two nights and had a very pleasant stay.The front staff were very polite and attentive,the room had all that we needed , and the beds and pillows were comfortable for sleeping.Convenient location near our competition at the Magna Centre.

we found the concierges both to be very friendly and helpful. They gave us lots of info on available attractions and restaurants as well as directions to the hospital. They were fast at check in and were able to answer all of our questions in a timely manner.

We stayed here for a night as part of a Wedding block for a nearby Family Wedding. The lobby was busy at check in which of course is to be expected. The staff were friendly, fast and efficient, keeping the line moving well while providing great service and answering questions all with a smile! When we returned from the Wedding a large group of us were in one room which of course was loud, the staff offered us a meeting room so we could continue the fun without disturbing other guests! The night auditor at the desk was also super! She helped us when we needed the address for pizza, was nice, friendly and funny! She was fantastic! The rooms were well appointed and the beds were very comfortable as well!! The amenities offered in the bathroom were above and beyond the normal hotel amenities! When we asked for a late checkout in the morning this was granted right away by a very friendly agent!! If you find yourself needing a place to stay in Newmarket look no further! Great hotel and AMAZING staff!!!

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We had reserved a block of rooms for our Wedding Day and the hotel was more than accommodating to our guests. Many guests received early check-in so they could arrive and get comfortable before our reception. The hotel also allowed us to drop off gifts for our guests and gave it to them upon check-in. This was a truly nice touch! Also, when we returned from our venue at 1am- the hotel staff was more than welcoming and made us feel extremely comfortable as we continued to celebrate. My guests were in total disbelief at the level of service we received. WOW! Tony is amazing. I am so happy I booked with Best Western for my Wedding night!

"Great Hotel hiding in a"

I love staying at this hotel and come every year! It is right across the street from the large Upper Canada Mall.. The on-site restaurant is wonderful (the Buttery?) - but remember that Sunday nights they close after their Sunday Brunch is over (I always forget!!) - but the LCBO is next door and that helps a LOT! The first time I drove up to this place I was worried - the building looks like a government building from the 60's and the neighbourhood was also dated. But when I walked through the front doors, the lobby was inviting and the staff is very friendly and helpful! There have been a lot of upgrades to the surrounding area since - although not much you can do about the exterior of the building. Give it a go - it's GREAT!

This is a great hotel with amazing staff and amenities! When I'm in the area I always stay at this hotel. The front staff are very helpful and go above and beyond to meet guests needs. The rooms are very clean and the hotel is well maintained.

We live out of town but had to go to South Lake Hospital in Newmarket for tests and operation. The Best Western is within 2-3 km from hospital. Hotel staff accommodating and pleasant. everything was amazing. That is why we gave it a 5 star rating. Restaurant staff friendly and extremely knowledgeable.. Food was delicious!,,,, Definitely stay here again...Have book additional nights for October.

This hotel is quite adequate for medium level accommodation. A bit tired but clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. There were no complaints to speak of; and the price is not unreasonable. Needs updating to freshen the decor in all areas.

if you are stuck working north of the GTA this is the only good place to stay, not much to do in this region so stay here or be bored to tears the whole region is littered with over priced hotels. I paid more here than I would have paid with our corporate rate to stay on the gold floor at the Fairmont royal York hotel ion downtown toronto

I travel a great deal however this stay was due to the fact that one of our family members was I a hospital near the hotel site. The staff made an effort to know what we were there and made every effort to help us through this terrible time. I thank them for their professionalism and also their compassion . OUr family member did OK and is now at home .

Stayed 1 night for a friends wedding at Holland winery. Quick check in and provided shuttle to and from wedding. Clean room reasonable rates. Shuttle driver very pleasant. Located close to everything in newmarket

New market GTA no restaurant included. It is privately owned and requires additional cost. There are some good restaurants in the city although they are close early before 10 pm. there is a splash pad for the kids in Summer open till 10 pm

We had 2 nights here - ideal stop over for a wedding close by. Room was small but adequate. Staff were excellent- willing to help and very efficient. Had dinner there 1 night and the food was first class.

We recently stay here for a wedding we were attending. Staff was great at check in. Got to check in early. Place was clean. Only down fall was in the bath tub there was a huge bug. The cleaning staff took care of it right away but nothing was followed up by the front seat as I advised them. Overall it was a good weekend. Hopefully they learn from this and treat guests with more care.

When in Newmarket on business, I always stay here. Free parking and Wi-Fi, and convenient for many Newmarket locations. The staff are always super friendly and of course the Buttery restaurant in the hotel is great value.

This is a solid Best Western with friendly service. Building is very 70s on the outside but nicely renovated on the inside. Very clean room and bathroom; good HDTV but needed more HD channels. The Buttery restaurant had an excellent diner-style breakfast.

"Good value for a short stay"

I stayed here for one night while on business. The hotel is basic and provided everything I needed for one night and then some. The room had a microwave, mini fridge, iron/board, and coffee maker. The bed was comfortable and the room was a good dice with a queen, couch and desk. I found the hotel to be quiet though you could hear guests in other rooms at times. If you are staying longer, the location is not all that close to a gas station or a Tim Horton's. Staff was friendly and the pricing was inexpensive at $132, taxes in. Can't complain about that. Good value for a one night business trip.

I stay here for business quite a bit and am always very satisfied with my stay. The Buttery Restaurant in the hotel is a must for anyone staying here. Have the caesar salad because it is actually the best I've ever had. Their steaks are also fantastic!

"Smelly Accommodations"

Though the staff was somewhat professional, there was poor ventilation & room smelt of smoke. It was awful. We stayed for a wedding and that was the only reason we carried through with our reservation. Serious updates are required to this hotel.

Great little hotel, very clean and more than reasonably priced for what it has to offer. The front desk lady (Erin) has absolutely great and I want to thank her for her services! She upgraded my room without being asked and was very helpful overall. Easy access, microwave and fridge in the room, the cleanness of the room, complementary wifi, etc all made my stay a pleasure. The only two things I wasn't very pleased about was the fact that there is no phone in the room and not so easy access to the pool. Overall, I would recommend the hotel to all that need a room in the area.

Staff is always very nice and make you feel welcome. Only complaint is you have to go to the restaurant for breakfast. Food is good but a bit pricy, not like other BestWesterns with a hot breakfast. Rooms are always clean and beds are comfortable

"Needs an overhaul"

We checked out a day early. Room was dark and very warn out. Carpet smelled and it was so dark it was impossible to see to get ready. Room cleaning came as we were getting ready for a wedding so sent them away after getting a few clean towels. Not the bed size we had paid for. It was a double at best and we paid for a queen. This place is so dated and warn out find somewhere else to stay.

Average hotel. needs major room overhaul. The rooms look outdated and dark and gloomy. Not a restful get away very noisy surroundings of guests coming and going. The carpet smell musty and the scent of dust in rooms. No room service. Great location in the center of Newmarket. close to great dining experiences and shopping in Newmarket. an Ok place for a short stay.

Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. They also provided an after party room (midnight to 4 am) so our group could continue without annoying other guests. All staff were friendly and ready to assist when asked questions.

This hotel offers great value and service for the reasonable price. Rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. Location is fantastic- central to everything and right across the street from fantastic shopping mall. Bonus addition is the free passes offered to the gym right across the street

My husband and I just stayed one night here and was totally satisfied with this hotel..Upon arrival the Receptionists were friendly and attentive..The Room had a queen bed..large fridge..sofa..chair..The room and bathroom were clean..bed was comfortable..a comfortable lobby....staff friendly..will stay here on our next trip to Newmarket..price point was very good

"Staff went over and above"

We stayed in this hotel for an out-of-town wedding. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the on-site restaurant is very good. On the morning that we were meant to check out, our car wouldn't start and we had to call CAA, but the wait time was hours long. We stayed in the lobby with our 3 children until mid-afternoon, and when it was becoming clear that CAA wasn't going to get there any time soon and we didn't have other options for our car, the manager on duty was incredibly accommodating. She offered to open a room for us downstairs to wait since they were cleaning the carpets in the lobby by this point, and when we decided that we were going to have to stay another night, they provided a room at an excellent rate. I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat. It was an excellent experience, despite our less-than-ideal circumstances.

Stayed in an exterior entrance room. While clean, it was colder than being in the tower and I don't think the beds were very comfortable. However, the staff, lobby and lounge were very pleasing and accommodating.

My fiance and I stayed in this hotel, as I was a bridesmaid in a wedding that was out-of-town for us. As we did not spend TOO much time in the hotel, we didn't form an opinion one way or the other about their services. It was clean, cozy and had everything we needed! I did however notice that the staff was chilly, impatient, and sometimes rude. They did a very good job of hiding it behind the usual professionalism, so if you don't pay too close attention to their facial expressions or the tone of their voice, I'm sure you won't notice a thing.

Really like this hotel. Stay here whenever i'm in the area... Great beds and clean. Like having a restaurant on site. Staff are great. Hot tubs in room are nice but spray water lots... Hard to relax with jets going. Otherwise great showers and rooms.

Best food ever at a hotel in this range. Caesar salad to die for, excellent meats and friendly service all the way through!! I was here on business for three days and our entire group stayed in and ate each night at the hotel and this is something we never do. This is a gem of a spot if you are ever in the Newmarket area

My son and his bride arranged rooms at this hotel because it was close to the wedding venue. The hotel staff was helpful and courteous, doing all they could to accommodate early check-in for the guests. "The Buttery" restaurant attached to the hotel serves an excellent breakfast buffet at a reasonable price. The room was clean and comfortable although we really did not spend long there! They opened a small room downstairs post-reception for those not ready to call it a nite. I would recommend this for any traveller to Newmarket.

We stay here often - it has the very best location in Newmarket. The hotel is always super clean and everything is in good repair. The staff are friendly and professional. There is a restaurant on site and lots of good options in the immediate area. It's all good!

Our worst stay ever... from the reservation to the check in to our numerous conplaints... nothing was taken care of !! The attendant Erin did not care, was impolite to both me and my spouse... I have never met a hotel staff this arrogant before and probably never will again The rooms are very noisy but that is not the staffs fault and the hotel is 30 years old so understandable But the service was horible !!!

Good Hotel, good location. Restaurant is very consistent. Dinner and breakfast are good. Wish it was open earlier in the morning for breakfast. Could use some updates in the rooms, stuff is getting old. Have stayed there for over 20 years.

Right next to the LCBO and everything you need around. I stay here often for business because of the price and location within GTA. It has a restaurant but it's often closed by the time I get there (8-9pm) but many other options around. Always great service here.

We did not realize there was a motel portion of this hotel and did not reliaze we would be placed in the motel side. Lots of construction workers partying outside at night who would stare are us as we brought our bags in from the parkinglot. A bit creepy. Would make mention to stay in the main part of the hotel next week.

We checked in on Sunday afternoon. The carpets were being cleaned in the lobby. The noise was deafning and we almost tripped over the hoses. However the hostess at the front desk was pleasant and efficient and our reservation went fast, so we didn't have to stand there amid the noise. We were pleasantly surprised how nice our room was. It was in the main building.

We stayed at this hotel twice before while in Newmarket. The rooms are very clean and well equipped with a refrigerator, microwave and coffee machine. The Buttery Restaurant downstairs is very nice with good food and great service. All the staff are very helpful.

"Wanted a smoking room, but...."

This hotel is 100% smoke-free, which I found disappointing, as there is an entire wing separate from the main building which could easily be reserved for guests who smoke. That aside, the bed was very comfortable. The internet was as fast as home. The HVAC worked well, as did everything else. Very professional staff in and out.

My husband was having surgery at Southlake Hospital and we decided to book the best western as it was just a few mins away, There was a mixup of our room at check in the staff was very courteous and fixed the issue immediately we received an upgraded room @the rate we booked, staff were all friendly and respectful. "what a great front staff"

We stayed here bc a relative needed surgery at the South Lake hospital. The front staff was fun, professional, just the right amount of inquiry to be caring and not nosy, and most of all able to roll with our inability to confirm a check out day. They were fantastic. The hotel has been recently renovated, ask for top floor, even number. The odd numbers are on Yonge and it is busy. The hotel has a restaurant attached. The location is good, across from a decent mall. Heading north on Yonge there are a ton of places to eat like Jack astors, Milestone, Mr Greek etc.

We checked in late. Check in was efficient. Room was as we expected and clean. Room was very warm even though temp was set for 63. Gave up trying to adjust it. Restless night as a result. Wake up call came early as a result of housekeeping outside of our door more or less screaming at each other about their day outside of our door:( No restaurants close to hotel other than restaurant in hotel that closes at 9. Close to shopping at local extensive mall.

The room we stayed in was fairly clean, quiet and had some handy amenities, small fridge, microwave, and an alarm clock with a night light, the night light in the bathroom was a nice touch as well, There was no free breakfast. The attached restaurant had reasonably good food but for folks on a limited budget, was somewhat pricey. Access to other restaurants meant crossing multi lanes of traffic at least twice, could be difficult for some seniors. The price of the room was reasonable, but the location could be troublesome for less confident drivers who need to turn left to leave the hotel. All in all, reasonable value for the dollar.

Arrived early on a Friday morning flight and the staff were happy to help, I was able to get accommodated into my suite just past noon. From top to bottom one of the better places I have stayed. Looked like a newly renovated suite, with surprising more amenities than other suites I have stayed in, bathroom redone, 2 big screen televisions and even a little entertaining area. The staff at the front desk were happy to help whenever I had any questions and staff supervisors Kim and Halina, made sure that everything was to my liking all the way through my stay, made the stay feel more like home. I would recommend this place to anyone that is in planning on staying in the area, keep up the amazing work!

We have stayed at the Hotel for several years now for our annual shopping trip. It meets all our needs and is just a walk across the street to the Upper Canada Mall. Rooms are spacious and clean. Only downfall is that breakfast is served at the restaurant connected to hotel which is not included in the price of the hotel stay.

"Hotel with the loudest air conditioner"

I checked in at 12:30 at night and was given a room with the loudest air conditioner that I have ever had the pleasure of being kept up all night by. I decided to try to sleep through it because I only had about six hours till I had to get up. Every time the unit clicked on it startled, woke me up and continued to loudly buzz. I am not a light sleeper and I routinely sleep through a crying baby (my wife and I trade turns getting up). I ended up getting nearly no sleep. When I called the front office they asked why I didn't call to change rooms. I feel stupid for thinking it couldn't possibly be that bad and that the hassle of changing hotel rooms would be worse than the buzzing. I am upset that the room was noisy. I am upset that instead of just coming to fix the problem they chose to question my motivations for trying to get the problem fixed. I am upset that I have now been waiting so long for an attendant that I am not going to have time to get any sleep before heading out. This was to be a short stay to refresh during a business trip, instead it was an exercise in sleep deprivation and testing of patience. I urge you to choose another hotel and to not have to endure this customer service boondoggle. Hopefully the franchise owner reads this and speaks to their staff about bare minimum of service.

I recently stayed at the Best Western in Newmarket for a few days and had the best experience I could have imagined, the girls Erin and Sam at the front desk were so accommodating and Alison our house keeper along with Kim and the rest of the staff were amazing I would recommend this hotel to everyone! Stayed for 4 nights in Rm 125 which is at the back of the property , ground level. A lovely suite, extremely quiet .. Room was clean .. could have used another soft chair .. was only a sofa to sit on or a rolling chair. Staff very friendly and helpful ..

"Incredible weekend stay"

The hotel Was very clean and organized I was there for four days and was super happy with my stay. Kim was one of the staff that really made our check in and stay As easy as it can get answered all our questions and made our stay great! "Okay hotel, but needs an update"

Stayed here for 3 nights while attending a family function. Room was clean but tired. Hallways and room need an paint job and new carpet. Bed was uncomfortable. Staff were friendly. Breakfast at the Buttery was great. Okay hotel for the price.

"HQ for Family Wedding"

Several members of our family stayed at this hotel in September 2016 and had a really great time there. The room we had was excellent, quite spacious and the bed was really comfortable. We were in what the staff called 'The Tower' which is the main part of the hotel. There are other accomodations to the rear of this main building which I'd imagine would be a bit cheaper/quieter. The ladies on the reception desk were really friendly as were all staff within the restuarant/bar. We had come over from Scotland for the wedding of my nephew to a young lady from Newmarket and I think this made all the hotel staff even more welcoming. Located right across the road from the Upper Canada Mall and round the corner from one of the most well stocked wine stores I have ever seen, the Best Western Voyageur Place Hotel was the perfect base for us.

"Terrible experience"

Had a recent stay at this hotel in the middle of September. We have Diamond status with this chain, and they were sold out that night- so I wasn't expecting an upgrade. However, when we checked in about 2 PM that day, I asked the front desk person if this was their best available room. As a Diamond, we are entitled (at most BW properties) to obtain this perk. She responded that no upgrades were available, which was fine. However, in the early afternoon there absolutely had to have been many other standard queen rooms available in much better locations throughout the hotel- and this individual (initials were CR if the management cares) chose to put us out in a room overlooking the parking lot. My wife is currently having some plantar fasciitis, so lugging suitcases up stairwells was not a pleasant experience for her. We were visiting friends, wouldn't be in the room too much, and would be returning for a good night's sleep, so the location wasn't that big of an issue- or so we thought. Upon return that evening, there were people hanging out in the parking lot- and sitting on the walkways that patrons use to get to their rooms. Some were shirtless, and our friend even commented how bizarre it was that people were just hanging out in the parking area. I want to make it clear that current management ENCOURAGES this by having bench seating available at certain places on the walkway. I understand having seating on a balcony at the rear of the room- but not on the main walkway- it is about the stupidest thing I have come across as far as logistics go at a hotel property. To make a long story short, the people on the walkways and/or in the parking lot were quite loud well into the evening. So loud, in fact, that even after putting in my travel ear plugs I could still hear them. This hotel is highly rated- and, quite frankly, I just don't get it. It was the worst stay I have had at a Best Western property in the 5 years since I became a Diamond- and the worst overall stay at any hotel anywhere in the past few years. Fortunately, Newmarket is growing very quickly and new hotels are beginning to pop up. My prediction is that this particular property will become an afterthought as the city gets larger and the competition becomes stiffer. It goes without saying that we will never stay here again, but your mileage may vary. If I could give them a zero rating I would- but a one will have to suffice.

Dear Greg, I see from your profile your hobby is “travel hacking”; partaking in “luxury travel on a pauper's budget”. You reserved the least expensive, economy room, on the exterior, upper level, far back section of our property months ago when all 15 room types were available to purchase. You got the room you booked as it was a completely sold out night and we could not give you a free upgrade. Some of our guests prefer and specifically request the outside access / back exterior “motel” section of our property and others the interior access / main “hotel” building. We are fortunate to have so many options available. A couple, young lads moved a bench in front of their room to enjoy a beautiful afternoon in the sun and you want to give us a zero rating? The person at the front desk during check in did not seem friendly or happy at all, she seemed tired and gave the impression off she didn't want to be there. The hotel Lobby is nice, however quite small. No pool but was given pool passes. The hotel rooms are dated. The A/C in our room was only hot air. The beds are quite comfortable however housekeeping wasn't the greatest.

Stayed here for a wedding at the Holland Marsh Winery. Staff was wonderful and very attentive and polite in all aspects. My husband and I were upgraded to the King suite which was a nice welcoming surprise. Will def. recommend. LCBO and Shoppers were within a 30 second walk across the parking lot. Only negative was the slow elevator.

"Nicely Renovated"

We made a last minute decision to stay in Newmarket and picked the Best Western. The receptionist was great. When I arrived she was on the phone with someone, looked at me and let me know she knew I was there. I walked away from the desk while she was on the phone and another person came in and checked out. The woman commented that she hope things would be fine once he got home and did the check out quickly. She then apologized to me for keeping me waiting because she thought I was with the man checking out. She found a room that met out needs and wee were pleasantly surprised ~ clean with new flooring and new fixtures. Great beds and good pillows for a reasonable price. Breakfast wasn't included but the restaurant was very good and was reasonable

We stayed a couple nights while family stayed well over a week. The rooms were nice, clean and a decent size. The beds were okay, not overly hard or soft. (Pillows were awesome, and PLENTY) The staff were excellent, very helpful and always smiling. Very happy with customer service. Though the hotel had no pool, they did offer a free days pass to a gym that was down the street that had a pool. Not exactly what I like (makes it hard for a late or early swim) but still the offer was there. Right across the street from Upper Canada mall, next to a liquor store and Shoppers drug mart (they sell everything) There is a budget car rental part of the building as well. We ate a couple times at the restaurant in the hotel. The staff were very nice as well, and the food was pretty good. The prime rib was Excellent when they offer it. I recommend if you are in the area.

I was so impressed with all of the staff from the front desk to housekeeping. They truly understand the concept of Customer Service. Each morning I was greeted by the staff to welcome me to my day and ascertain if I had had a good night's rest. They all wanted to make sure that all of my needs were met. The attached restaurant staff recognized me on the second day and remembered what I had had for breakfast the day before. Wow, Customer Service! The room was super clean and well decorated with all of the amenities that I needed. I had a great stay here!

"Great room, helpful staff"

We had booked our room through Expedia and were disappointed to find that meant our room was to be in the motel-like section of the property, and on ground level. We didn't need the room immediately (we did arrive before normal check-in) but would be returning later in the evening. The staff worked with us and for a minimal upgrade charge we were given a room to our liking in the tower section. After a similar request for a quiet room above ground floor not being fulfilled as promised a couple of weeks ago with a different chain, I was pleasantly surprised to get a voice message confirming that the room we desired was ready for us. As to the room, it was really quite spacious with a full couch, fridge and ample lighting. The room on the fourth floor was quiet, clean and the bed comfortable, not your typical board like mattress. The friendly greeting upon entering the lobby was appreciated. I would definitely recommend this hotel and return here if in the area again.

Hotel was great for our one night stay. Staff very friendly and always greeted us . The room was clean and spacious for our family. The air conditioning was loud as it was an older unit by the window. It also blows the curtains out and the sun shone through early in the morning. I'm a light sleeper when travelling so not too bothered by that! Overall, well located and would return.

I stayed here for 2 days because of my husband having surgery at Southlake. The front desk staff have been incredibly friendly. Every time I returned I was asked if all was ok. I had read TA reviews and knew I didn't want the motel part at the back..(only because as I was alone) and I would feel safer in the " tower" ( a 4 story building with elevator). The room on the fourth floor was all I could ask for. Thick towels, great bathroom amenities, the bed was So comfortable, the sheets ironed just so, excellent view of Yonge Street and the Upper Canada Mall, lots of places for eating close by, There was a fridge, not the teeny one but this was about 3 feet tall with freezer so more room for whatever you need it for. There is an LCBO a 1 minute walk as well as a Shoppers Drug Mart. I felt totally at home during my stressful couple of days. A huge thank you to this Best Western for providing me with such excellent accommodation !

"Quick one night stay"

Stayed for one night with 2 other guys for a golf tourney. We didn't have reservations. Two very friendly ladies at the counter on check in took care of us right away. We got a 2 bedroom with a pull out couch that was perfect as well they offered a military discount. We actually came here because the Holiday Inn up the street could not accommodate us and they referred us to here. Large size room and very clean. It's all we needed.

The hotel is excellent, well staffed and well located in the Newmarket area. The hotel has excellent facilities. If possible though, try to stay in the main hotel. The motel part is aged and dated and the quality of the accommodation drops substantially from that of the hotel itself.

"What A Gem"

This hotel is a gem in the middle of chaos. The Yonge St., Davis Drive intersection is horrible at best, noise wise and traffic congestion is so start. And then there is this hotel - as soon as you walk into the cool hush of the lobby, it all fades away. The Front of The House Staff are quick and attentive with wonderful personalities who know their jobs well. The rooms have recently been renovated and are lovely. The beds and pillows are very comfortable, the bathroom had all the extra perks you would expect but of a higher quality than you would possibly expect. It was spotless, as was the bedroom. Our room overlooked Yonge St. Facing the mall and a pond with ducks and geese. Once it was late and traffic was slow, it was quite a pretty sight:) We left the next morning at 10:00 so that we could go to the Saturday Farmers Market at Fairy Lake, meeting friends there to have lunch before heading home to Toronto. I was surprised to see that the lobby was very busy at that time of the morning - a lady outside explained to me that this hotel was the #1 hotel in Newmarket for wedding parties and they are always booked solid every weekend. That says it all! If we should have to stay overnight in Newmarket again, this will certainly be my hotel of choice and highly recommend it.

This hotel is clean, convenient, comfortable, and all the staff I spoke with were incredibly friendly, professional and helpful. It's close to a number of different shops, transit and restaurants, all within easy walking distance. I visited The Buttery only for breakfast, but had good food and service there. It seems to be quite popular with the residents too! (Don't forget to take your keycard envelope with you for a discount.)

"Best Western Newmarket"

The service was great. The inside is beautifully done and the rooms are exceptional compared to the outside. We would certainly stay there again. The only thing is there is no complimentary breakfast. But there is a restaurant on site called the Buttery and you receive a 10% discount. We had dinner there and breakfast the next day. The food was absolutely delicious. We highly recommend this hotel

If you are paying front desk fare, you would be far happier at the Holiday Inn down the road. The beds are hard, the pillows are hard, noise from outside and guests talking, shouting, arguing, etc. can be heard at all hours. Nothing is done to stop this and staff is quite rude if asked. Only view available is the parking lot where there was a kid and an adult continually kicking around a soccer ball that was constantly hitting cars. When we asked for this to stop, we were told that it was private property and they could kick around balls if they wished. Rooms are clean and cleaning staff quite nice. However stay away from the old troll at the front desk with the big hair. She will make your stay miserable from the get-go. We more than one time listened to her loudly chastising guests while speaking with her and even listened to her being abusive to who ever she was shouting at over the phone. She immediately put our stay on such a negative note that it was difficult to enjoy our trip after a run-in with her. If she was removed, the hotel would be a far nicer place. Most other staff were welcoming and polite. If it hadn't been for the convenient location and the huge discount we were able to get online, there is no way we would have stayed.

The hotel was easy to find & easy to get to, just off Davis Drive onto Yonge Street. Parking is a little tight in front of the hotel, but there are many more spaces on the side & parking is free. The location is right across the street from a large mall, with a cross walk down half a block. It was an easy (and safe) walk for me. The hotel room was very, very clean. It had a larger fridge without a freezer compartment, a desk & an office chair in addition to a sofa bed & the standard furniture. No microwave. The bed was comfortably firm. The remote for the TV was in a small bag, I'm assuming to indicate that it had been specially cleaned. I thought that was a nice touch. We did lose the TV connection a few times for very short periods, though. The noise level at the hotel was very acceptable. The decorating was a bit odd, with a large lamp on the desk right in front of an art piece on the wall. Window overlooked the front parking lot, Yonge Street, and the mall. We didn't take advantage of the 10% off coupon for the restaurant, the Buttery. The front staff were friendly and helpful.

"Terrible"

Pillows are like bunching up some old laundry and sleeping on it. Mattresses firm, so no comfy night sleep but a backache each morning. Wifi is terrible. TV is always losing connection. Heater is so loud it is better to be cold and sleep with it off as it never goes off. Passes for a local gym are given but only if you are aware of them as we were not and it was not mentioned. View is only of a parking lot and a huge sign reading LCBO on the wall of a building in front of parking lot. Restaurant is expensive and not very good and not connected but gives a 10% discount. Big deal. Would not recommend. There is however a nice Holiday Inn down the road with free breakfast, bright rooms, pool and microwaves in room with entres that can be purchased in lobby. Wow. Same price and comfortable beds.

Don't stay here if you need Internet. Couldn't get a signal in our room. Had to go to the lobby to get a signal. Other than that, we liked the hotel. Bed was comfortable and the room was a decent size. The attached restaurant is good. The staff were friendly but of course couldn't do anything about the wifi.

I had an amazing room, Staff was of great with service,, My issue is, If I'm paying for a room, I booked in at 5.00 pm, I should have the room Until 5. pm the next day... Instead I have to pay and extra 35.00 dollars and i get to stay till 2 pm, or I have to be out at 11 am.. I was not satisfied with this, I would of like to travel around Newmarket a little longer but my stay got cut short...

"Amazing staff, very clean quality room"

Just stayed here for a night while traveling through. Staff at the front desk on night shift were very nice and pleasant. I told them I had to write an online test the following day after check out, and they offered me their boardroom at no charge. Room was great, and they extended checkout time for me too. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed, great location (close to restaurants, shopping, LCBO, GoodLife). Grateful that they went out of their way to help me, and the night desk attendant even left notes and made the full reservation for me in the boardroom. All staff that I spoke to were very nice and pleasant.

We had a great time at the Best Western Voyageur. It served it's purpose for us. The staff were absolutely delightful. The bed was comfy and the room was spotless. The wallpaper makes the place seem a little dated. Paint would help with that. Honestly their level and standard of cleanliness has been some of the best I've seen in hotels and we will definitely be back to stay!

"Great place to stay"

There's only 2 hotels to choose from in this city and I am glad I chose this one. Customer service is awesome as is the rooms that I get. Very clean rooms, lots of towels. I wish they had valet parking with an overhead canopy so that I can temporarily park while unloading my car. Also, the parking is limited and I don't like to park behind and walk all that way. Wish they also had room serviced and a gym. Maybe one day, they can buy out the entire area next door and expand to include their own restaurant and have more parking available. Anything you wish, they will get it for you. Quiet except during hockey season and wedding season but it does get quiet. great for business as well as pleasure

"Best Western in Newmarket"

We were thereto watch our grandson play in a hockey tournament. The hotel he stayed at was full (of tournament contestants) so we booked here. A fortuitous turn of events. It was quiet, comfortable, and not full of young exuberant young people. There was not a free breakfast so we ate elsewhere. We didn't eat at the adjoining restaurant, which was supposed to be good. Parking was adequate. A shopping centre is across the road. The arenas were nearby. Our focus was hockey. We did nothing else but watch great hockey for 3 days. Our grandson was MVP for the championship game. His team won the championship trophy. It was a great weekend. No complaints.

Nice hotel to stay in. Internet access is terrible. If you need to prepare reports for the next day good luck. The Internet usually crashes around 10 pm for at least half an hour. Called help desk. They were not helpful. So if you need Internet for business purposes don't stay here.

"An older place but a very nice stay"

I had a business trip just outside of cottage country and needed a midway point to stay the night. The desk staff were fun and very friendly, a great check-in experience. The facility, while being older, was clean and comfortable. The only problem was I had to get on the road very early in the morning and had to find a place to eat since the breakfast buffet was not open yet. Still I would stay again.

"Gougers"

If you want to extend your stay they want 25% more per night. Their picture shows a nice high rise type building. The reservation said upper floor. Unfortunately it was an upper floor on a motel style addition on the back of the building. This meant a climb up an outside staircase at minus 14 degrees Celcius. Not what I was expecting. Once up there, the room was quite nice, but not pleasant for an older person with walking difficulties.

Clean, comfortable room. Nice restaurant. But if you're hoping to get some work done during your stay - look elsewhere. The internet is wholly unreliable and apparently that's the norm. I had to leave my clean, comfortable room just to stay on top of work. I'll stay elsewhere next time.

"Give a little for a lot"

There are very few choices in Newmarket for hotels. The Best Western Voyageur Place is very good on two fronts. Location and food services. It is right where you want to be if your traveling into the city, shopping, and dining in the area. The number one reason though is The Buttery. A wonderful, locally operated restaurant with scrumptious food, an elegant ambience, and a first class staff. The owners are right there. The hotel is comfortable and clean, but not the newest hotel in town. Right across from Upper Canada Mall.

I stayed only one night on business. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable, one of the best nights sleep I have had in weeks. Front desk staff was very friendly and fun. Only draw back was the restaurant for breakfast open at 7 am and I had to be on the road by 6:30 am and thus had to find somewhere to eat. I would recommend staying here

We have been here before and came back, partly because of its location which is convenient for us, but you don't come back if you're not happy, and we still are. "Worn out/lacking service"

This hotel has been around for quite some time and it shows. It is quite dingy. The ceiling in my room was damaged and in disrepair. The wallpaper is old as is the shower curtain. The fan in the heating/cooling unit was very loud and the sleep setting didn't do anything. The tub sounded like it wasn't 'seated' properly on the floor and made a clunking sound under my feet during my shower. When I arrived, I had a ton of stuff in my hands and had to juggle things in order to pull open two sets of doors. No one offered assistance, despite the fact that there were 2 staff at the desk and one in the foyer watching me. I was, however, treated very well by the 2 women at the desk and was thankful they provided me with useful information which is the only reason I am giving the hotel 3 stars.

"#1 FOR A REASON"

It's hard to get to the top, but it's even harder to stay there. This hotel has it figured out and do everything well. I travel 100+ days per year, and I have to say, this was the cleanest room I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. The standards here are high, and the housekeeping staff should be commended for their hard work and efforts. Room is adequate, has everything you need for your stay including fridge & microwave, good shower pressure, reliable fast internet (even during peek times) and best of all, amazingly comfortable bed and pillows. Did I mention how clean it is ? I would eat off the floor here, I'm not kidding. Restaurant onsite has been in business for 25+ years and they have the same outstanding standards. Good quality food, good service, reasonable prices. Just an amazing stay.

"Great place"

The staff was extremely friendly. Our room was very spacious and clean. The beds were very comfortable. One of the downfalls of this place is there was no continental breakfast. The hotel is in a great location very close to shopping and dining. I was there with my mom for an appointment at the hospital. The staff went out of there way to make us feel comfortable.

This hotel is close to great shopping and seemingly unlimited dining choices! The hotel restaurant offered great value and good quality breakfasts. We were especially impressed by the cleanliness of this hotel. Rooms are not huge, but certainly adequate. All amenities offered worked great and WiFi connection was good

The staff on check-in and check-out were helpful. Parking was adequate and close to the entrance. Exiting the hotel is awkward if one wishes to go south to Toronto. The restaurant attached to the hotel is excellent.

"Basic but clean"

There seems to be 2 sections to this hotel, a motel part and regular hotel part. The access to the motel part is directly from the parking area. The hotel part is from an internal elevator and looks a little nicer. They have a courteous and friendly front staff and a special rate for persons going to the Regional Health Centre . The motel unit was convenient, quiet, clean and comfortable but had the usual motel characteristics. The restaurant in the same building was very good, pleasantly decorated, friendly staff and good food reasonably priced. It is observably a local favourite.

"Basic but clean"

The room is a tad small, seems to be a former motel converted to a hotel. Room entrance is direct from outdoors. Parking close to the room was handy. Room well equipped with a microwave and fridge. The work table is inadequate for any serious work effort. WIFI worked but was open to anyone in the area; no password required. The walls are thin and I could hear and understand the discussion in the next room.

Clean, and well managed, this hotel has a clean feel to it and staff was courteous and professional. The beds were a little softer than necessary and they made my neck hurt but the washrooms were fairly well maintained.

"Exceeded Expectations"

We were at the tail end of a vacation but my wife had a business meeting nearby the following morning. Before leaving the Thousand Islands area earlier that day I looked on-line for a hotel near the Keg and movie theatre. What a pleasant surprise!! We did not have a reservation but parked right outside the front door and were in a perfectly cleaned, good sized room in under 5 minutes. 20 minutes later we were eating lunch in their restaurant with an unbelievably good and professional greet and wait staff. The food was par excellence. The following morning they gave me a late check out as I waited for my wife. I took full advantage of the restaurant again. Wonderful place.

"False advertising"

Contrary to information given on line and on telephone this hotel does not have a pool. They confirmed at check-in that this was a re-occurring issue and that they had coupons for an off-site pool a 10 minute drive away, but it was closed.

Dear Deb, We provide complimentary vouchers to two different town pool complexes nearby (facilities with Olympic size swimming lanes, waterslide, sauna, and whirlpool) and passes to the Goodlife Fitness Center across the street providing our guests far more value than smaller facilities on property. We are walking distance to a splash pad and playground. The re-occurring issue all hotels struggle with is not having control over the countless online travel agent web pages. Although this complaint is with Orbitz (whom you booked with); I am so very sorry your grandson missed out on swimming. Lynda Aucoin, General Manager

"Short and sweet"

It has been years since I have stayed at this property. The room was great but I arrived late and had to leave early for business. The restaurant used to be very good and from the activity when I checked into the hotel it still seems like a popular place. Parking is a bit of a challenge but it is there.
