"Seen it's better days..."
Amex7878, 22 Septembre 2023

Looks a lot better in the photos. Actually the hotel is pretty worn out. Single room was super small. Breakfast was okay foodwise but service wasn't up to speed (dirty tables, ran out of food etc). Front desk personnel were nice. Not really a walking distance away from Downtown. Hotel was okay for few nights but next time I'll try something different.

"Stat at Best Western Kaiserslautern Germany not good"
paulawalker305305, 17 Juillet 2022

My stay was not good the room water was cold when I took a shower. The room had no air conditioning. I tried to check out a day early because my experience was so bad the hotel charged me an additional day. I want to say the staff was not properly trained because that kind of service does not help you or your guests.

"Great Room in Kaiserslautern"
Adventure549427, 08 Mai 2022

I stay here every time I am in K-town. Great breakfast, free parking, free Internet, great Location. Sauna and Fitness area. Professional and friendly staff. Nearby to train station. Gas's station and good German restaurant across the street.

"A great hotel for a weekend trip"
RajakrishnanVSridhar, 23 Août 2021

A good breakfast spread. Very friendly staff. Ideally, look for a package as that would offer good value for the price that you pay. The only issue that I found was the lack of hooks or towel rods to hang our towels on in the bathroom. No AC or fan in the room might make it uncomfortable when it gets too hot in the summers.

"Great value for your $$$"
Art K, 04 Février 2020

great hotel on the outskirts of K-town. clean, comfortable rooms with good beds, nice bathroom/shower, and very easy parking. good TV (lost of international channels). few min drive to a train station and few good restaurants. hotel has restaurant and bar (did not have time to check it out). for my next trip to k-town I will definitely stay here again..

"Mr"
Michael R, 31 Octobre 2019

Very friendly hotel staff. Rooms were clean and neat. WiFi is intermittent at best. However, we couldn't have asked for a better accommodation from this hotel. I would definitely stay here again on business or pleasure.

"Very good choice"
tbpalm77, 31 Octobre 2019

This hotel is very clean and friendly. The staff bent over backwards to make us happy. The breakfast and lounge areas are fantastic. Only negative thing I could say is that their “free” internet is terribly slow and unreliable. Most of the time I had to stand next to the door to get any service on the 2nd floor.

"Stay Away Not even hot water"
Ian N, 12 Août 2019

I booked in here for a 12 day business stay. On day 2 I was moved as it was hot and the aircon broke. Then the next room had no hot water so I played if game of complaining and then I got Luke warm water. A week later I had enough another Monday morning having a cold shave and shower before work NOT GREAT. Then they moved me to the Junior Suite. Guess what I never moved in because no hot water. I was asked since the Junior Suite had no hot water was I happy with my current room remember the one with no hot water I said No. I was then asked would I like another room. I then got a room with very hot water The pizza is terrible abd the rooms are very dark. If you come for a business stay DONT book this hotel EVER I will never come BACK here again

"Dark, hot rooms"
WorldsOfWanderlust, 09 Juin 2019

I read the reviews before my stay here and was hoping they were inaccurate, but unfortunately, they were not. There was no air conditioning and the rooms were extremely muggy and hot. There was also hardly any lighting. I had to use my phone flashlight at night to try to do anything in my room. There is no small fridge in the room and no ice machines in the hotel. There is a nice bar area; however, the bartender was extremely rude. It seemed we were paining him to order a beer. It's about a 1.5 mile walk into town to the bars and restaurants. Breakfast is not included in the stay.

"Hot dark smelly rooms"
S6156MTdanielw, 03 Juin 2019

No air conditioning! The only relief from the heat is to lean the top of the window in 4 inches or if your lucky and have a tiny balcony open the door. Then you get to breath the cigarette smoke pouring in from the smoking area and people on their tiny balconies. Bartender is incredibly rude he will find anything to look like he is doing something and avoid helping you. Too busy dusting the wine bottles to serve the 20 people that want a beer. Almost no light in the rooms you need a flashlight to see anything after dark. No ice machine or refrigerator available.

"If everything else is full"
DudewasHere, 12 Mai 2019

I'll give them a small pass for the construction of installing a new elevator but you can tell the place hasn't been updated since built. Rooms were sparce, didn't even have a snack frig. Only thing available was vending machines which were beyond over priced. My group should have booked the Hotel Barbarossahof.

"Poor quality hotel"
DavidAlujas, 22 Décembre 2018

I ‘ve been there for 2 nights. We moved to another room because the towels and duvet were missing. Unsufficient illumination, just 2 poor lights. Bad experience this time, they charged addional costs when were agreeded at the confirmation.

"Decent hotel in Kaiserslautern "
OutofTownG, 13 Décembre 2018

They have two different types of rooms. Make sure you get the one with the bigger bed. However the duvet cover does not cover the entire bed. If there were two people in the bed then one person would not be covered up!!!! The room lighting is not very good. The bed was hard but I prefer that. The breakfast was good. Great hot water in the shower. Bath towel was very thin. Employees are very friendly.

"Just OK"
Braniff77, 08 Décembre 2018

Only stayed one night, which may have been a blessing. Two very small elevators, and one was out of order. The room was OK, but there were no overhead lights in the bedroom area, just two small lamps, so it was ridiculously dark in the room. The bed was up against the wall and was a single bed. Comfortable enough though. The room got warm, but there didn't seem to be any way to cool it down except opening the door to the balcony, which I didn't want to do when I was sleeping. There was an instruction card by the bed for the alarm clock, except that there was no actual alarm clock. The breakfast offerings in the restaurant were good though. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful.

"Subpar Hotel"
Jasper R, 07 Décembre 2018

Pros: Ample parking Cons: Old, inadequate rooms Old wash rag for a towel Beds hard and cramped No lights in the main area of the room Located kilometers away from anything Slow wifi Bar slow to take and produce drink orders Restaurant food super bland Rooms too expensive for what is offered Hostel feel to the whole experience

"Pleasant yet dated"
CosmicHarley, 16 Septembre 2018

Just an overnight stay in KL for a conference the next day. As the heading says, it's a pleasant hotel.... yet seems dated. For instance, the multi-colored, tartan-esque carpet on the floor of the elevator... that extends up the walls as well. The bar is also pleasant - although unspectacular. The bed and room was comfortable enough.

"Not worth the money"
biancas61886, 07 Septembre 2018

Recently had an extended stay here. The rooms were very basic and my lights above my bed never worked. Not that big of a deal if there was any type of overhead lighting but there wasn't. My carpet was never vacuumed the entire stay of over 2 weeks. My coffee/tea cups were never washed only rinsed out because they still had my lipstick on them from the previous day. Towels were jokingly referred to as the towel lottery because whether I hung my towels up or left them on the floor I might get clean towels or I might get my same towel folded up. Some days I got one bath towel, 2 hand towels, and a bath mat other days I would get 2 hand towels and a bath mat. You never knew what kind of towels you were actually going to have when you got out of the shower. They do not have washcloths so don't ask apparently that only makes the reception mad. The elevator was broke more than it worked even trapping someone in there one night. The maids didn't give a little knock before entering they just came barging in. No air conditioning on any floor other than the 3rd level at this hotel so requesting a fan at check in is a must. Sleeping with your patio door open is not the safest option but when the temperatures are high it is the only option. The restaurant keeps their own hours and might be open might not just depending on the day and weather I guess. No real rhyme or reason to it. Breakfast was decent and open every morning. The bar was nice and the bartenders were mostly friendly no outside alcohol is allowed in any common areas of the hotel. It is a short walk to down town K-town and the soccer stadium is a block away. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to this area.

"Low Quality Even For Best Western"
Michael L, 13 Août 2018

Staff were friendly at first, then their English tailed off if you needed help and would be pawned off. Has a bar, kind of...Beers were 4.50 euro which is kind of expensive in Germany. One night they ran out of beer in the hotel bar. Usually one bartender on duty each night with a full hotel. Restaurant is overpriced for what they offer. Breakfast is bland and the dinner is the same thing, just reheated with limited options. Want to use their fancy coffee machine in the morning? It will cost you 4 euro each cup. Rooms are small and beds are uncomfortable since their king is simply two single mattresses pushed together leaving a slot to roll into at night. Room was so small I had to put my feet outside to do pushups in my room. There is no AC in the hotel and no shutters like you see on most windows in Germany. The rooms also don't have a microwave or fridge making eating more expensive. Internet is bad at best. Constantly drops with a weak signal and have to sign in/out every 30 minutes. Good luck calling home or accomplishing any work on a computer. Location is far from local attractions. Booked for 3.5 weeks and had to change my arrival day by one for airline issues. I was charged $94 as a cancellation fee even after Expedia called and was told there was and will be no fee. Felt like a hostage. Wanted to switch hotels after a week, but was told we would have to pay 70% of our reservation. Argument between Expedia/BW say it was the others policy to charge 70%. To much finger pointing instead of fixing the issue. Laundry service was broken the entire time with no date of correction Military members......take your business elsewhere. Spend your lodging at a better hotel.

"Mediocre at best "
Chelsea S, 02 Août 2018

Extremely disappointed in my stay here. The room that I stayed in was smaller and stuffier than one I stayed at in Paris. There isn't a ceiling light for the room, but merely dim reading lamps. No microwave OR fridge. No safe. Only the third floor has AC. However, if you get a room, it smells and feels as though they haven't changed the filter since, forever. There were hairs on the bathroom floor upon check in, and the housekeepers would REHANG OLD TOWELS THAT WERE ON THE FLOOR!!! The bed was uncomfortable and you get one measly pillow. And lastly, the WIFI is awful. And to gain access, they pass out individual, one time use, one device codes. The positives: The staff was friendly. The breakfast was decent, but not included in your room price. And the bar area was nice. The bartenders were accommodating most of the time and made good drinks. Those are the ONLY reason that the place even gets a 2 star. Will not return under my own financial power.

"Very poor help from staff "
Patches O, 02 Août 2018

I'll just highlight as to not go on a rant. -front desk staff indifferent -room had water leaking from ceiling EVERYDAY for 15 nights, have fun trying to sleep with water dripping into trash can every 4.5 seconds. -maids Randomly cleaned or didn't clean the rooms. -towels I threw on floor to be replaced were folded and hung up wet. -bathroom seemed to randomly get cleaned. -carpet was wet everyday due to maid taking trashcan which was catching the waterfall from the air conditioner, and putting it back under the desk. -mold was growing on soaked wood work from above mentioned waterfall. -upon check-in I walked into room with towels all over floor and trashcan in doorway to catch water coming from A/C. -room smelled moldy- which after two weeks probably is the reason why I am going home sick now. -pictures below are just a handful of daily pics of wet conditions of carpet and woodwork which was continuing to grow mold and get worse.

"A little below average hotel"
Jennifer C, 12 Juillet 2018

I stay here for 3 nights during a business trip and was not impressed by this hotel. The rooms are very basic and there is no air conditioning in the room. Thank goodness the weather stayed in the upper 60 degrees I would have been miserable. The breakfast buffet was average, I was shocked that my boiled eggs were not even boiled! Even getting my bags to my room using the luggage cart was a challenge. The luggage cart does not turn like it should, very awkward to use. If I ever come back to Kaiserslautern this is a hotel I will avoid staying at.

"Uncomfortable, Unsafe, and Unfriendly"
optimusprimeiowa, 14 Juin 2018

Uncomfortable: I stayed in this hotel for nearly a week in early June. THIS HOTEL HAS NO AIR CONDITIONING! I know this hard to believe in 2018. While the outside temps were in the mid 70's, the temps in the room were in the 80's to low 90's. This was only June and I fear what it is going to be like for the next few months. I asked the reception desk if there was anything that could be done. They quickly said no and suggested they have a few fans, but they were all loaned out. They suggested leaving the windows and the doors open at night to cool off the room. Unsafe: The hotel actually suggested leaving the windows and doors open while I slept. I wouldn't do that at home, let alone this hotel. I sent an email to Best Western customer service and they found a fan for the last two days of my stay. But, all windows and doors had to be left open to move the cooler evening air. I received an email from Best Western customer service stating the management had contacted me to discuss the issue. This never happened so the local management lied to the corporate customer service. Best Western has apparently thrown out guest security as a goal for their affiliate establishments. Unfriendly: Every interaction with the local staff was short and uncaring! The staff in the food and beverage section were so very kind. Because the rooms were so warm, I needed to have some laundry done. I asked the front desk how long it took to get guest laundry back. The lady at the front desk actually said she didn't know. She then went back to her work. Overall, you would think Best Western had some standards, but apparently they don't. As long as their affiliates pay they licensing fees, they are willing to look the other way while their brand is tarnished. Spending money on branding and new signage is worthless when your brand is represented by hotels such as this establishment in Kaiserslautern.

"Not best"
Atle L, 05 Juin 2018

I think this is what being in prison feels like. The surroundings look like the Soviet Union, and the breakfast taste like ...... You'll be better of sleeping in the car. Or in the woods. Or not at all.

"Solid Hotel"
Norm C, 28 Mars 2018

Just stayed here for the first time on business trip to Kaiserslautern. Compared to most German hotels this one is more US than German which can be a nice thing. They fitness center was excellent and not something common at hotels. So if this is important to you like me, theirs is excellent. It's a bit off the A^ but within a couple of minutes walk to the football stadium. I expect for home games it is probably sold out. Wireless was good and staff was really friendly and helpful. Parking is a bit tight so be aware. I plan to make this my "go to" hotel for future business trips to Kaiserslautern.

"Bad odor in the room"
Norberto L, 14 Mars 2018

Even though they say it is non smoking there was a a bad smoking odor in my room 237 I've sneezed a lot because of it. They certainly need to become better. The elevator is not working properly. In all if you can please avoid this hotel for a family visit stay. Did not leave immediately because I arrived pretty late and drove from Munich.

"Great staff and nice place."
Guadalupe R, 11 Février 2018

I had business in Kaiserslautern and stayed at the Best Western. My stay was okay, but there were some issues with the lights in the room and the elevators did not work very well. I was there for a short time, so I did not ask for assistance from the front office. The staff was very helpful and spoke English and I'm sure they would have fixed the lights.

"Nice but nothing special"
CLJMG, 18 Décembre 2017

I stayed here for one night on business and found the room just fine although strangely very dark, I had to put every lamp on to see. The receptionists seemed pleasant enough and check in and checkout went without a hitch. I asked if they had a restaurant and was informed they had a buffet, one look and I was asking where the nearest restaurant was! Based on the very poor looking buffet I did not try breakfast at all. The bar was nice enough though and there was a quaint German restaurant a couple of minutes walk from the hotel called "Servus" which does good German Pub food.

"Very Good Stay"
SwedeAbroad, 24 Octobre 2017

Location: the hotel was easy to find using the SatNav (GPS). The neighborhood where the hotel is located is somewhat deprived and I would not feel comfortable walking there at night on my own. There is a supermarket across the street, you need to walk up the stairs across from the hotel then turn left after the first building, for essentials like snacks, water or pop. There is complimentary parking available or you can park in the hotel's garage for €10 per day. Check-in: the male receptionist spoke excellent English and was helpful and polite. Room: I had a single room with a balcony on the first floor. The room was fairly small but had plenty of storage. The bed was very firm and I complained at reception after the first night. Housekeeping put a duvet on top of the mattress which made the bed somewhat more comfortable. I still did not have a good night's sleep but I do appreciate that the reception staff attempted to rectify the problem. The TV had lots of channels and around four or five English language news channels. The bathroom was fairly large and had a nice walk in shower. Both the room and the bathroom were clean. Breakfast: my rate did not include breakfast but I paid €8.80 for breakfast and I found it to be good value. There were several different kinds of rolls, bread, cereal, yogurt, cold cuts, sausage, eggs etc. WiFi: the complimentary wifi was good. Overall: this is not a bad hotel and offers fairly easy access to Kaiserslautern. It is approximately a 20 minute drive from the air base. I would certainly stay here again and would recommend it to friends and family.

"My go to train station hotel --- 5 min walk from train, budget friendly"
Captain_Random, 07 Août 2016

I have stayed here three times in the past few years. This is the best place to stay near the train station if you are looking for an early morning departure and want to stay near the train. The rooms are modern, clean, and simple. The breakfast buffet is outstanding and a great value. It is walking distance from old town where you can get traditional German cuisine. I recommend this for business travelers or families who want a place near the train station. This is a no frills budget friendly hotel.

"Very comfortable"
Derek H, 13 Avril 2014

We visited twice on successive Saturdays with a coach tour, staying just one night. Food was very good, although there was more choice on the first occasion for the evening meal. On the second occasion we were given a set menu. Breakfast selection is excellent. Rooms have facilities for making hot drinks and wifi access is available.

"Football Trip to Kaiserslautern "
NealG561, 22 Octobre 2013

This Hotel is ideally located for a visit to watch FC Kaiserslautern, which is only a short walk away. The main town centre is a 15 minute walk away. Hotel has good parking facilities. Room are a good modern standard with good bathrooms also. All in all well presented and comfortable

"Pretty poor for a Dorint..."
Christopher Lee T, 16 Septembre 2013

The floor is old and worn, the light in the bath room needs a new bulb, there is no air conditioning, internet is provided via a third party and most likely costs extra (used the available T-Mobile HotSpot I am already paying for instead) and the water pressure in the shower gets you barely wet. I go for breakfast now but I doubt it will be that good that I return to this hotel again.
