Price was right. Close to beach. Plenty of dining around. Daughter was kept busy with pool . Tub fills deep. Heat lamp in bathroom a plus for off season. Room was clean and well furnished. One. Of the best mini fridges I have had in a hotel even had crisper drawer.quiey suuuuuper quiet. Will be back if we are back in Michigan.
Front desk check-in employee was full of smiles, great attitude and great info on where to eat. Everything was clean The tub and toilet looked new. Breakfast had many items to choose from, including healthy options. Would recommend to friends and family.
We have stayed here several times and also are very satisfied. Alway clean and comfortable. Great location close to everything. Food within walking distance. Nice courtyard outside some rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. Wish they had Guest laundry.
After reading other reviews we choice here for our end of summer stay. The hotel is very clean along with the pool and hot tub area. The room was clean BUT smelled very musty. We knew we'd only be sleeping in there and enjoying the pool area and the local area as well so we put up with it. Only other complaint was the squeaky floor in the room above as people walked across it. But again only occasionally. For the previous century its not terrible but we may go elsewhere where in town our upcoming visits. Others we talked to said theirs were fine. Great town though. Up to you
The room was clean and comfortable. The pool and hot tub looked inviting but we were spending most of our time at a nearby campground with our kids and grandkids so sadly never had time to check them out. The breakfast was delicious with many choices. On Sunday when it was super crowded the person refilling food and coffee did a Herculean job keeping everything stocked.
The rooms were spotless. Staff was amazing, Polite and very . The breakfast had lots of choices & excellent quality. The pool and hot tub were very clean. Very close to Lake, Michigan, and all the local beaches & Restaurants . I would definitely stay here again.
Extremely satisfied with our stay. Nothing fancy but staff is very friendly, rooms are kept up and clean and exterior is well lit and felt comfortable going to my car alone at night. Room was quiet, fridge kept things cold and bathroom left no surprises. We could just relax and enjoy our vacation. We stayed in main building. I heard there was another set of rooms in back which were more dated from other guests.
This was the absolute worst hotel . The room was dirty . The bed linens had blood stains and other stains. We had to change our own sheets after going to the front desk they were rude. The manager would not come out from her office to speak to us. They just gave us a change of linens for the bed .We had three rooms booked for family event. I spoke with customer care ,was given $10 off of the room . I would advise everyone do not stay at the Best Western in Grand Haven. .
We had a wonderful stay at the Best Western Beacon Hill. The location is right on a main street, with many businesses close by. The parking lot was large and well lit. The hotel has a main building with "interior" rooms and what the staff at the front desk called "the annex", with rooms that are considered "exterior". Our room was interior and on the third floor. The room itself was large, clean, smelled fresh and was delightfully cool when we entered. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were really soft. The bathtub was really deep and the water was always hot. There was a small fridge and microwave as well, and we had a pleasant view of the courtyard and the annex. We used the pool area several times and it was clean and well kept up. I love that they have a small reading library near the front desk with books for various ages. Our young granddaughter chose several to bring up and read before bed. Breakfast was great. There was a large variety- even with food allergies, I was able to find plenty to eat. There were eggs and sausage, waffles, packaged donuts/pastries, oatmeal, cereals, bagels, English muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit, orange, apple and grape juices, as well as coffee, tea and hot chocolate. I also loved that they offered "kid-friendly" options, such as tubed yogurt and the option to make smaller sized waffles. The food was refreshed frequently. There was a nice outdoor deck area right outside the pool for those who wanted to relax outside. Check in and out were super easy and fast. Every staff member we dealt with was friendly and very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
Liked the online checkin and pre- checkin communications. Weren't sure we would like the "motel" type building but it was fine and the price was right - good value for an 8 hour stay after arriving at 11:15 pm. Would stay there again in the future.
The total crew were the best. Wish I know all the names of the morning, afternoon and night staff as ALL went that extra mile to make our stay one to remember and want to return and do it all over again. These are the the staff I remember or did a requested task. Autumn, Kamden, Breakfast Lady, Phil the HDMI cable guy, the afternoon desk gal who found the hidden Source button, night shiftgal who got the breakfast bar ready for the Breakfast Lady, and all the others who got a new towel for me and extra trash bags. BW Beacon Inn has a crew that cares and takes there jobs seriously.
I will always stay here when we go to the Coast Guard Festival. A beautiful Best Western! Clean, great amenities, awesome staff. They were all friendly including the housekeeping staff! They want to make you happy! It was a wonderful stay! Book here first!
We shared a room with friends and had ample space to not feel crowded. Bathroom amenities were good, room was clean, beds were comfortable. We also enjoyed breakfast which was typical inn breakfasts. Food was plentiful and area was kept clean by staff. Front desk folks were welcoming. The pool and hot tub area were clean and bright. Overall a very nice stay and we would recommend.
Our room was very clean, the beds and pillows were very comfortable, the shower was brand new and had lots of pressure. We were in the annex building which was super quiet! When hosting out of town guests, this is a great choice for overflow company!
The cleaning lady is amazingly helpful as well as the women at the front desk. My only negative is the "bonus points" that I'm supposed to get and haven't gotten yet. Even from my previous trip. The manager is working on it. The employees are incredibly trustworthy and helpful. The women at the front makes us feel important and comfortable. We will definitely be staying again.
This was definitely one of my BEST hotel stays I've ever had. I would like to give a shout out to the wonderful staff there. They worked very hard to accommodate us and were extremely friendly. I will definitely be coming back again and again. Highly recommend!
We had a 2 night stay and it was a great location with easy drive downtown , quiet, large pool, accommodating front desk staff, comfy beds. It is always a bonus to have breakfast included in the cost of a room. Nothing fancy but much appreciated to begin the day.
We found our room last minute on a weekend in a resort town. It is located close to the beach and restaurants are within walking distance. Staff was very accomodating.
We stayed in the main building, not an exterior room. The hotel was clean. Good AC, hot water and pressure. Breakfast was good and staff kept the food stocked. Good check in, Akia was helpful and efficient. My only issue with this stay is the review must be a minimum of 200 characters. Way toooo long.
Parking horrible only Help I received from the desk. Was to park my car over 200 yd from my room. I have a bad Legg so this made things worse plus where I parked? I was worried that either the car was going to be hit. Or towed as There was a tow truck lurking in the parking lot. Staff should have a way of knowing whose car is misparked and deal with the problem
We always have a nice stay at the BW. Do not take the cheaper prices across the street at Baymont. I have had nothing but issues there. But for BW...rooms are clean, front desk is nice, pool and hot tub are always functioning, breakfast is standard for most hotels but the waffles machine is nice. Right next to McDonalds so that is convenient. Will always stay here when we come to GH!
The rooms were clean. The staff was nice in particular We checked in at 2:00am and not only did the night manager upgrade our room so we didn't have to haul all of our luggage so far she knew we were leaving early and got breakfast ready early just for us. That was very much appreciated. Super nice staff, super clean hotel. Will be back.
I never write reviews but I was treated very poorly and felt the need to share. When booking my room, I asked about having my daughter's birthday party here. I asked about having 10 kids, using the pool, and using a space to have pizza. The employee told me that would be fine and as long as no one else stayed in the hotel room there would be no extra fee, so I proceeded to book a room. I talked with 2 other employees before actually checking into my room. About 15 minutes into the party, I was told they no longer allow parties and that everyone would have 30 minutes to leave. There was not management in the building all weekend, so I had to talk to the manager on speaker phone. After arguing back and forth, Autumn told me she would charge me an extra $250 for the birthday party. I said I would not pay for that AND my room as the whole ordeal was not my fault and this was not said up front. The employee working that night told me she cancelled my room fee and just charged for the birthday (that cost more than the room). Well when I got home, I saw that I was charged for my room and the extra $250. I have filed a complaint and when I called again today, of course no management was available. Autumn was very rude, and after talking to other friends and family, it sounds like she has been rude to many people. I will never recommend this location again while it is under her management.
I like this place a lot. And it is right next to a great restaurant called for us's restaurant period it is also close to Taco Bell and McDonald's right in the same parking lot period I really enjoyed Grand Haven, especially during the festival of the coast guard. The only place around with whirlpools In the whole 2 towns of fairiesburg and Muskegon.! Love this place!!!!
This is a good spot to stay for a getaway. It's just the right distanc to downtown, dining and beaches.
Courtyard rooms are very spacious, could use a refresh on interior, beds were ok not the best sleep but not the worst, great water pressure in shower, would stay again
We stayed in the main building where the main lobby is located. Be sure to note half the hotel is set up like an outside motel and only a small portion of rooms located inside. Pros: Beds were clean, mattresses in bed bags, and comfortable even for those with back problems. Ample seating, mini fridge and freezer section. Window opens for fresh air. Cons: Entire hotel needs a thorough cleaning. Our room foot paths, beds, and main surfaces were clean. Outside of those areas don't touch. Around the AC unit/window area had mold on the walls. The pool is run down, had broken tiles (very sharp) on one side on the pool where you would walk but can easily go around it. The pool is not heated and was beyond ice cold. (Hot tub was good and worked well).
Karissa is the greatest! All the staff members are amazing. I always seem to mess up something with the reservation. Not because it difficult just always rushing. They always helped straighten it out for me. My home away from home. Thanks Melissa
Excellent customer service! The attention to detail with the pillows, and towels was great!!! The room was very clean.
The rooms were clean, the front desk lady was amazing too. It was a last minute decision to go and they had shampoo, conditioner, makeup wiped, tooth brush and tooth paste. They also had an incredible breakfast bar that was complimentary. We will definitely be back! Thank you for the great memories of spring break 2024!
Very friendly staff there was always someone to help me an my family with what we need an you guys even show me how to get a free night I really enjoy coming here my only suggestion is can we please have eggs with the sausage an biscuit lol but both was not enjoyable to my family
Clean, good sized rooms, quiet, with a screen door to allow fresh air in. Quick check in and friendly associates. We love the courtyard rooms, but all of them are nice rooms. We never have any problems when we stay. The prices aren't bad at all. 10/10
Clean rooms. Plenty of pillows per bed! Great pool area. Desk girl when we came in was super nice. Breakfast VERY basic. Lady getting food ready not a happy person but had food restocked. Would go again. This was our second time using this hotel.
Great stay overall, room was clean, bed was comfortable. Reservation was made online, process was quick and easy. Front Desk clerk that checked us in was great, happy, helpful and professional. We also LOVE the fact you have an EV charger available.
The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean an comfy. They had a hot breakfast which is always nice. The price was reasonable. The only thing was the bathtub dripped all night. It was nice to park right outside the door to our room. Didn't have far to carry luggage.
Great hotel. Wonderful staff! Our room smelled of cigarettes! It's NON-smoking! They agreed someone smoked in the room. So the staff was very accommodating and gave us another "upgraded" room. It was very nice, no cigarette odor. Nice breakfast too.
Staff are super nice and helped my family and I out so much while in between houses. Definitely recommend them! Was always clean. Stayed stocked up on food for breakfast great variety to choose from! Pool was clean kids loved the pool I loved the hot tub! We will definitely stay again
All the employees were great! We were snowed in a bit, stayed another night just because they made it feel comfortable, kept the walkways cleared, pleasant, and the room was clean and comfy. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Definitely going back to this Best Western, thanks everyone for being so accommodating!
Autumn the manager is fantastic and always ready to help w anything Her crew is fantastic also The rooms were very clean and well kept Pool area nice but alot of chlorine which was hard on eyes...otherwise a fantastic time for 2 nites 3 days
The customer service was amazing! Tia, who worked the evening shift was absolutely the best, I asked if they had a deck of cards and she was nice enough to let us use her own personal deck. I thought that was so kind because she did not have to do that. She was so sweet and kind as well! Thanks Tia!! Also, the rest of the staff was always smiles too!
Wonderful staff. I am a local and stayed due to knee replacement surgery and not doing stairs. As a result of complications from surgery, ( I've had 5 now) I've been here 6 weeks. Every staff member is polite and professional. Autumn has assembled an outstanding team. They staff go out of their way to accommodate my needs. All staff greet their guests with a smile and friendly greeting. Continental breakfast is pretty good too.
Fantastic EVERYTHING! The staff, the breakfast, the beds, the pool & hot tub. Excellent stay and we plan on going again soon! Our stay was so nice. The courtyard in back of our room was amazing! Planning another trip!
Very nice overall. I would stay here again. Room and bathroom were very clean. Refrigerator works very well (it is not one of those fake fridges that are sometimes in hotels that are really more of a cooler). Shower took a few minutes to turn hot, but once it got there, it remained hot for the whole time. Breakfast with standard hotel breakfast. Pool looked inviting.
It was top notch start to finish. Tia, Chase and Kathy and Housekeeping were so friendly and attentive. The set up was great. It was clean and quiet, breakfast was amazing. The pool and hot tub area was very nice and relaxing and fitness room had everything.
My husband and I were really happy with our stay here. Very well maintained property - the main building with interior rooms was newly remodeled and our room was quiet, spacious (2queens), had a nice split bathroom, and had comfortable beds and good air conditioner with a nice constant fan setting which we appreciate for noise canceling. Breakfast was good- eggs, sausage, waffles, yogurt, apples, oranges and bananas, cereals, muffins etc Coffee machine was offered all day and was good quality
Our experience at Beacon Inn was great. It was made better by Autumn! We made our reservation through Reservations.com. It was not a good experience-we felt like victims of a crime. We were overcharged, which they conceal. Then when we canceled-immediately-received a cancellation confirmation-they then still charged us the full rate. Autumn was very helpful and helped us immensely. Call the hotels directly! Do not use reservations.com!!!
Water stop working right in the middle of a shower. Was told it was a broken water main. Then when I called to express my concern they said they could turn it back on. The room was freezing cold all night and could not be adjusted. The bed was full of sand and very uncomfortable upon arrival.
Veenus at the front desk was kind, courteous and professional. Great customer service and very accommodating. She went out of her way to ensure that I was comfortable and taken care of. Room was clean and comfortable.
The initial room we were put in was not cleaned at all. We entered to a strange odor and found food debris of old fries and Dorito chips, clothing tags, bottle caps, and pubic hair all on the floor. The walls of our original room had many dings and one was sloppily patched up and not painted which concerned me. The toilet in our original room was uncomfortable for the adults as it made us feel like we were using my toddler's tiny training potty. The toilet paper in that room was even smashed up in a way that made us feel like the room had zero effort to clean. Upon telling the front desk (who was very kind and the only redeeming quality of our stay) about our disgusting room, they offered to move us to another room, which was handicapped accessible. Upon entering the second room, we were once again met with a foul odor. I found multiple black spots all over the one bed/sheets. The shower curtain had gross brown stains on it. There were hairs from the previous guests in the shower. The shower bottom felt like a giant air bubble to stand on. Again, this felt disgusting and unsafe for my family to stay in. With the hotel being sold out of other rooms and me having prepaid online, we were forced to stay in this room. The front desk attendant was helpful with getting us new bedding at least. However, she explained the black spots on the sheets are unavoidable as the a/c system spits them out when the unit is adjusted. In making a desperate attempt to stay in the room for the night, my entire family had a difficult time sleeping as there was a revving sound ALL night long, similar to that of a lawnmower, vacuum cleaner, or grass edger/trimmer revving sound for 8-10 hours. Being 30 weeks pregnant and having this impact my sleep on top of all things, left me and my family absolutely miserable come morning. Lastly, we made an attempt to lower the air conditioner so it wouldn't be too cold, and this foul burning toxic odor started coming out (as if the black debris wasn't enough, dealing with that felt toxic!). We opened the patio door to air out the room, but it gave us a headache. Come morning, we attempted to go to the main building for breakfast which was not as advertised on the website (no build your own breakfast sandwiches offered). Instead, the main course offered was stale biscuits with inedible lukewarm gravy. We checked out with regret for ever booking this hotel. Unsanitary. Disruptive. Horrible stay.
First room offered smelled old and musty. Carpet was ripped. Bedside table had a sticky spot. We asked for a different room and front desk was very accommodating. Second room offered was better. Bathroom was very clean. Bedding/sheets smelled like detergent/bleach so they were clean, just needed replaced for hotel quality. Pool/hot tub was awesome. Staff was friendly.
Great value and very helpful staff. Breakfast was very good . Pool was nice and the hot tub was wonderful . The room was very clean ( but you shouldn't have to ask for the room to be cleaned) Other than that it was a very nice stay
We were also put into the outside “motel unit” instead of inside the hotel. When I made reservations online, no where did I see an option of an outside motel unit listed. They should probably clear up their room descriptions somewhat so that people know what they are getting, especially if you haven't stayed there before. “Exterior Access” doesn't tell you a lot. Our room in the motel unit had a bad odor and the carpet was torn and rough looking. Several nights were very noisy with other guests standing on the sidewalk outside of our door talking late into the night. I expected more for what we had paid. Not sure if the interior hotel rooms were of any better shape. The good…. breakfast was decent and most of the staff were friendly and helpful.
Pay attention when you book this hotel if you're booking it from a third party, because this hotel has MOTELS on the side of the actual HOTEL. And there's no indication on Expedia that you will in fact be staying in a MOTEL which is located in the parking lot and you don't get inside the hotel. You drive up to a little shack and that's your room. You have to walk around to the hotel to enjoy any of the amenities. The motels are disgusting and stink and are full of bugs. I would not ever stay there again. What a disgusting trash motel I can't believe I had to stay in that for the price we paid. Steer clear. Stinky dirty noisy trash.
This hotel has potential to be good but some of the staff were so unpleasant. We felt like we were a big inconvenience to them. The breakfast was ok, the eggs were cold in the morning or just empty. Definitely not worth for the price we paid. I do not recommend this hotel for your vacation.
Grand Haven Michigan is an Awesome place to visit. Staying at the Best Western Beacon Inn is like Icing on the Cake. The town has so much to offer and the Beacon Inn allows to get some relaxation in after a busy day. I look forward to returning, to both the Beacon Inn and Grand Haven. Coast Guard City USA
Clean and quiet. Very nice Hotel experience.. Our family came During the firework! So a lot of of traffic and still easy to get around with the location of the Hotel, loved the pool, only negative was the high chemical smell in the pool room.. couldn't stay in long but it was all In All a great experience.
Alexis, the first person that checked me in when I had the worse level 10 pain migraine, the ladies went above and beyond anything I could have expected. The days leading to the migraine was very bad. But the staff not only brought me water, toothbrush, an apple, and a granola bar. They offered so many different options, and made sure I was checked in, The ladies demonstrated care and paying attention to details that was needed for me. I was so humbled by their kindness and professionalism. I would most definitely recommend their establishment and this location. My stay was comfortable, I felt safe, and although I missed breakfast the front office was clean and still there were few options available for a quick bite. The room was clean and I was happy to see the fridge to store my food and a microwave. Comfy bed which was much needed. Clean bathroom with all the necessities. To all the four ladies thank you so much. I can't wait to see you on my next visit. Have a blessed day.
This hotel is the perfect spot for a getaway. It's close to restaurants, stores and only about 5 or so minutes from the beach. I recommend staying in a courtyard room. There will be no one staying above you, you can park right in front of your door and there is a sliding glass door for airflow. The breakfast is good as well. I just wish that the window for hitting the breakfast was a little bit longer. Highly recommend.
we made a reservation here and called to ask when the latest time we were able to check in. The young lady told us 3AM. When we arrived at 2:30AM, the woman at the desk asked if we were the group that was about to cancel. From my understanding she was asking if we called to cancel our reservation. I told her "No" and she proceeded to ask my name and information. She then told me " oh yeah you were the ones about to cancel" I told her I didn't call to cancel my reservation and called the night before about what the latest check in time was and that was my only call to the hotel. SHE then told me "well it wasn't her who I called and that she did her audits at 2AM . Like how the heck am I suppose to know what time you do what?! You have a policy so stick to it don't make up new rule on the go. Her attitude was not friendly at all towards us and we just wanted a place to stay the night with our kids.
When you drive up you feel welcomed everything is kept neat and tidy then come those welcome smiles from the staff throughout my stay When I had a question the staff always had the answer would say to anyone coming to grand haven michigan stay at the best Western beacon Inn
No one was at counter when I arrived. A man was standing between desk and lobby, no name tag, no greeting.I saw him standing outside hotel on my way in. He didn't approach counter until I spoke. I had difficulty understanding his accent. Room was OK, no TV channel guide. Breakfast options were decent.i booked room over the phone, I thought I called directly.i was told charge for hotel was $135. Bill showed $15 charge for reservation and $35 for dog. $50 more than expected!
The room was updated and very clean. Breakfast included hot eggs and sausage patties so you could make a breakfast sandwich. I didn't use the pool but it looked really nice and clean. Good location - right off 31 and close to lots of places to eat. Walmart is also close by in case you forgot anything. The lighthouse isn't too far away. The only negative was that the bathroom fan and light are on the same switch and are kind of loud so if you get up in the middle of the night you might disturb others in the room.
The decor of the hotel made me feel a little nostalgic; it reminded me of places I stayed during my childhood when my parents, sister, and I went on vacation. I loved the hot tub. Housekeeping services were understandably limited, but when we asked for towels the night before, we actually got them. That doesn't always happen when we stay somewhere, so that's why I wanted to note that. The breakfast had a nice selection as well. The only thing I didn't like was having to drive to the pool, but it wouldn't have killed me to walk, either.
Great location, Very helpful and informative crew. Explaining what to go see and how to get there. Always greeting us and making you feel welcome. Would definitely come back and stay here in the future.
This hotel appears to be two rows of older single story rooms, with exterior entry, with a more recent addition of a three story central building, with rooms having an interior entry. We chose a room in the central building that was nicely updated, as I had read previous reviews describing differences in room quality between the buildings. The 2 queen beds were very comfortable and the clean updated room was larger than average. Sightly noisy, but consistent with a 2-3 star hotel with interior halls. Our room had a tub/shower. The provided breakfast was better than anticipated with two waffle makers, fruit, bagels, yogurt, and biscuits and gravy. The biscuits ran out before I could taste them, but the waffles were a bit thin on taste. Location was away from the water but on a main road. A McDonald's next door and a decent inexpensive Chinese restaurant, Fortune Cookie, with take out in the mall within walking distance on the corner.
We would stay here again if we are ever in the area. I cannot think of anything negative because we had a great stay. Our room was clean, the beds were clean, cozy and comfortable. Bathroom was clean.
We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights in August. The room was very clean and everything was in working order. The staff was friendly/ The breakfast had a good combination of hot offerings like make-your-own waffles, sausage and biscuits and gravy in addition to the more common breads, hard boiled eggs and yogurt.
We were vacationing with friends and spent one night at the Beacon Inn. One thing to understand is there are rooms in the main building and then more rooms in a separate two story building on the property. Since the rates were less in the 'out' building we had two rooms there. We had a first floor room and it was surprisingly large. The room was clean albeit a bit out dated (acceptably so). There was a wear tear in the carpet but the room was very clean and so we overlooked the tear. We had a tv, mini fridge, microwave and small coffee maker. There was also an iron and board. The room was very quiet although we could hear neighbors running water. Breakfast and breakfast area were very good. We found two waffle makers (yay) and the usual breakfast items but, curiously, sans gravy for the biscuits and no scrambled eggs. All in all, a very good breakfast. We definitely will stay at this BW again when in the area. BTW, the wife and I always toss the bed/s to check for bed bugs and this room was quite safe.
We stayed here while taking a trip to MI Adventure. It was well worth the 30 minute drive each way. And it was close enough to the downtown area and the amazing Grand Haven state park. I would have rated a 5 but the only issue we had was that the AC unit in the room was really loud. It worked fine and ran nice and cold it was just soooo loud. I would definitely stay here again though. We didn't use the pool area but it looked nice. We did have the breakfast and there were lots of choices if you're good with eating the usual quick breakfast foods. I would just suggest maybe a breakfast meat choice or maybe scrambled eggs for low carb people. That's the only thing. But I guess if it's that important then you can go out to one of the many choices nearby.
Great stay. Close to everything. Family oriented hotel. Pool was good working order and clean. Stay was good. Staff was friendly and courteous. Pillows too fluffy for me. That was the only problem I had. Thank you.
good location, next to main hwy. but back far enough to be very quiet , also very well maintained.room and courtyard, pool area, & lobby. very friendly staff, a little over priced for the area, and time of week,{ wed. thurs.} we enjoyed the well maintained court yard right off of our room no stairs to trasnsverse. Good well lighted parking area right by our door. would stay again.
Restroom smells like sewers, carpet looks dirty, one of the lamp didn't work, the bed is hard and the pillows are even harder. that exterior entrance gives a feeling of a motel. Over 350 per night and it's not worth the money. I had to leave early than I planned. they wanted to charge me another full night because I decided to leave after the first night check out, I said no problem go ahead and do so, because I didn't feel like discussing the room's problems. It's an okay hotel, but I'm not coming back, especially not to that exterior room.
When I brought a few problems to the clerks attention I was told "you booked thru Priceline sop we cannot move you". The p[problems were the room smelled like stale smoke, not clean, air conditioning did not work well.
I read all of recent reviews on this hotel after seeing it listed as the #1 hotel in Grand Haven and after less than favorable reviews at another hotel I booked. I now regret not sticking with my original choice. I am mystified by those rating this hotel highly and I can only surmise it is a result of the your room location. We were placed in the external building (behind the McDonald's) and the walls and ceiling are paper thin. A family with 4 young children were placed in the room next to ours and all we could hear was screaming until they fell asleep. Creaking from the room above made sleeping near impossible one night. If you do get placed in the external building make sure to request a room on the second floor and do not expect a "large" room as mentioned by other reviewers. While breakfast is a perk and not something you pay for, it is good to know when it is basically a continental breakfast with limited hot options. The first morning included biscuits and gravy, but the rest of the time there were no hot choices unless you wanted to use the trusty waffle maker. Keeping it stocked was also a struggle on at least one morning. I would not return to this location or recommend it for what you pay. I've stayed in nicer hotels for less for certain.
Stayed in a room in the separate building called a double queen courtyard view. It was nice having an outdoor space to sit at. It was also so easy having the car parked right at the door - no need to use a luggage cart. Bed was comfy, fridge and microwave also great. Breakfast included bagels, waffles, cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, danishes, muffins and fruit. Coffee was great. Room had an obvious bottle cap on the floor, the towels were really rough, and it could have smelled a little fresher, but overall decent accommodations. We stayed 4 nights.
Customer service was terrible.....Rooms were so old ...carpeting was totally worn out, lighting was terrible. Bed/bedding were okay. Location is the most positive thing I can say BUT not enough to stay. Breakfast area not kept up, garbage cans running over.
Great hotel - large rooms, very clean from the hallways to bathrooms in room. Plenty of parking near entrances. Free breakfast was perfect for our family. Very close to Grand Haven public beach/park and the town.
Location is close to all your needs, close to some attractions, staff are very accommodating, room is nice and clean. The least that i liked is the breakfast, there should be more food choices. Would definitely recommend!
The overpowering stench of chlorine and cleaning fluid greet you as soon as you walk in the door. The room was clean but very spartan. Very cheap toilet paper. Breakfast is the low-end, all you can eat variety. Think prepackaged danish, waffles, biscuits and watery gravy.
Our room was excellent! Extremely clean, spacious & everything operated as it should. Two adults & two children stayed in room 515. Yes, you have to walk to a different building for the pool, breakfast & the front desk, but who cares?! It's summer in Grand Haven! I recommend staying here to anyone & my family will definitely stay here again.
This is an unusual hotel in that it consists of 4 buildings- one hotel with several floors (maybe 3-4, I don't remember), two single story motel buildings with outside entry, and one 2 story motel building with outside entry (we stayed in this one). I don't know if all rooms are equal, but ours was very spacious, and obviously had been completely remodeled/updated. It was very clean and comfortable. Did not feel unsafe/no sketchy characters hanging around as in some motel scenarios. The only weird thing about it was the $50 security deposit they require, but a week later, it has been refunded.
Room appeared to be new or newly remodeled. I only stayed two days so no housekeeping during my stay but the room had been prepared perfectly. Since COVID it seems like housekeeping has almost become an afterthought at many properties. This room was as clean and well prepared as any I've ever seen. Only minor hiccup during my stay was the EV charger getting an error and not charging my car.
Worst hotel stay ever! Hotel is multiple 'motel' style building all over parking lot, they're not connected so you must leave your room (door straight to parking lot) to go into other building for ice machine, pool, etc. Air conditioner barely worked, mini fridge did not. On our second night, I awoke to a terrible sewer gas smell and became physically ill. When my husband woke up and complained of the smell and sore throat we put it together that this sewer gas was what was making us feel ill. I went to lobby to voice my concerns and was only told that a manager was not in but I could leave my name and number, never once was I asked what my concern was. (Later found out the front desk girl assumed I was complaining due to recent hot water issues!? , just another reason not to stay!) We skipped our last beach day and headed home due to not feeling so well. Management called and offered a 10% discount for the inconvenience, almost $600 spent at this place that made is physically ill and management offer to rectify situation was laughable. I will never stay best western again. I warn everyone that there are too many other hotels in this area to stay at this one! Beware!
I was traveling solo and was glad I was in the main building and not in the others where it was more motel feel. The pool looked nice and clean and the room was very clean. However, staff wasn't very friendly and when asked to check out, the guy said put your card on the table and you can go. No thank you for your stay or did you enjoy your stay. And breakfast did not have much variety and some areas were not very clean. I did not notice an attendant there. I did enjoy the waffle maker. Overall, okay stay if you just there for a day at the beach or hanging out in Grand Haven.
We stayed for a weekend wedding and stayed in room 424. When we realized our room wasn't attached to the main section of the hotel, we realized our room wasn't a hotel, but a motel. We checked in on Saturday and checked out on Sunday (a Sunday afternoon wedding). When we went into the room, it smelled like a motel and unfortunately the smell creeped into our clothes and we had to spray our clothes with extra perfume/cologne to mask the smell. We also had an issue with controlling the humidity in our room. This seemed to be apparent as there was/is mold on the bathroom ceiling. On Sunday morning, I turned on the air conditioning to hopefully get the humidity out of the room (the outside air temp was 50deg), and a bunch of black stuff ended up on the bed. We did enjoy the pool and the continental breakfast was good, but my wife and I were not impressed with the cleanliness or lack there of and decided we will not be back. We chose to stay at this Best Western Beacon Inn in Grand Haven, MI because of the price and duration of the trip, but now know we should've spent a little more and stayed at the Holiday Inn in Spring Lake (which we have stayed at before). We hope you can remedy these issues for future success.
Just checked in. Parking lot empty. Lobby is nothing like pictures. Looks like another covid excuse to do nothing. All blocked off and dark. Asked for a late checkout. Automatic no. We're too busy so we can't do that. $170 and placed in an off lot building with a toilet from the local elementary school about 12" tall. Room is worn and dusty. Should have air bnb'd it after all.
As a solo traveler I do not stay in motels. It's a safety issue to have my room door open to the parking lot where anyone can see which room I'm in and watch me come and go. There are a few rooms in the main building (the one they use for pictures), but if they assign you to one of the external motel buildings, you're forced to pay for it because of their cancellation policy, even if you find it unsuitable. The lack of transparency about this situation is completely unacceptable.
There was a crusty old washcloth left in the shower so I'd assume it wasn't cleaned at all and mold on the ceiling in the bathroom as well as the main room. I could smell the mold when we walked into the room.
We had a group booking for tournament. Hotel was very friendly, nice pool and hot tub, clean rooms, and good breakfast. Very close to downtown Grand Haven and activities. A good price for what we received. They were able to help our large group feel at home.
Room directly above us were younger adults and kids partying till 3am. They had a "service dog" of which they were playing fetch with in the room! Large breed, imagine the thumping. Service desk didnt help.
Booked two rooms for our daughters slumber party for her and her friends!! Rooms were clean and modern, staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Pool was clean and maintained, party was perfect for the girls!! Will definitely be coming back in the future or recommending to friends and family who may be visiting our beautiful Grand Haven!!
I would recommend this hotel if you are planning a stay in Grand Haven. Great location to restaurants and business areas. My room was very clean and the staff was helpful and courteous at checkin. You won't go wrong with a stay here.
Room was cozy and jacuzzi tub in the room was hot and clean. Couldn't hear neighbors and the door wall overlooked the courtyard. Will definitely stay again. Didnt use the breakfast actually slept in on this trip. Great location close to Lake Michigan!
We have our Christmas family reunion here for the past 10+ years and it continues to improve every year! The staff is the best; they go above and beyond in caring for our 6 families. The rooms are great, and the pool and breakfast are the best out of all the hotel's we have been at this year!
Staff were very polite. The room was clean. It had a microwave and refrigerator. We enjoyed the hot tub, especially given the chilly weather. The hotel has a great price point for the amenities offered.
Hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly. I didn't use the pool but it looked nice. Convenient location with many places to eat nearby. Nice size refrigerator and a microwave were in the room.
We had a birthday party here. Rented Three rooms for friends to sleep over. Kids used the pool. It was a slow weekend and they let us set up and eat our pizza and cake in the breakfast area. Great little hotel if you're needing to stay in Grand Haven over night. Pool and breakfast are a bonus. Nice staff.
We were most pleased with this experience. Staff were polite, cheerful, and helpful. Facility was very clean; bed was extremely comfortable, and breakfast was delicious! We would definitely return if in the area again.
Stayed for 1 night, glad it wasnt more because the room was in the back building upstairs. If you stay here do not unload your luggage until you find out where your room is. While there are rooms in the main building with the lobby, there is a section outside and another building in back that has walk up stairs and outside doors. The room was clean , was remodeled and had a refrigerator and coffee maker. They did provide breakfast. The indoor pool looked nice but it was extremely hot in the pool area, and it was not convenient for the outside rooms.
We were traveling through the area looking for a place for a one night stay. Saw the Best Western and booked it on TripAdvisors advice. The check in was a little bazaar, plastic screens everywhere. Managed to check in and the room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was not so good, plastic wrapped bagels and danish? No bread to toast or English muffin? Cold food , except for cook your own waffles with people in masks, not so much. Don't think I'll recommend this place except in need.
I called the hotel directly to make my reservation and was fortunate to have the GM, Kendra, to assist me in making the reservation. She was so helpful in explaining their amenities and the various buildings they have on site. The room was clean and the size was comfortable for my family of 4. The bed and pillows are comfy. The lobby is clean and the flooring and furniture look new and taken care of. We also enjoyed the pool and hot tub area. We ate their breakfast both mornings, but there was only Cheerios for the gluten-free option. Even the coffee was good and I don't usually say that about "hotel coffee". The location was also perfect and within range of the business district and driving range to downtown Grand Harbor. If we were to go back to Grand Harbor, we would stay there again.
My wife, myself, daughter and grandson spent a couple nights in Grand Haven. The hotel was clean, quiet and we had no issues. We did not use the buffet but it looked great. Would definitely stay here again. The staff was fantastic.
I did not expect an upgrade but did get one this time around. I really like this place and the rooms are great as always. All the amenities are nice and work very well. Staff is very nice, but the lobby which used to look inviting has changed due to the pandemic. Looks a bit off-putting, but the rooms are so nice and reasonable. One thing I did not enjoy was that breakfast is not a hot one. I travel quite a bit and use BW a lot, but this one although having a nice offering, did not have the hot items that many do.
Stayed with family for a short getaway. Tidy room although slightly outdated decor. Enjoyed use of the indoor pool and hot tub. Didn't use the fitness center, but seemed to be well maintained and clean. Due to COVID there was no housekeeping service but room was well-stocked with needed items. Great location with close proximity to the beach, shopping, and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.
We love Grand Haven Bets Western. Everyone of the staff is helpful and kind every time we go there which is every year for a week. The virus has limited their amenities somewhat but that isn't their fault.
I can't say enough about the friendly and helpful/hard working staff. They were awesome. Four of us were bicycling the area's trails and the large hot tub and large pool felt great after the days' activities. Rooms 406 and 407 had comfortable beds and were very nice and spacious and well laid out. We also liked that the sink area was separate from the shower/toilet room.
Stay yearly when visiting family in area. Always very clean and comfortable. Have stayed in both parts and never had any problems. Rooms are very good size in both parts, I like the Main hotel alittle better. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Very good location 5 mins. from everywhere. Will definitely stay here again, Best Hotel in area.
We reserved a room and upon check in discovered that our room was in a separate building that looked nothing like the hotel. it was a drive-up motel. we wanted to use the indoor pool, but had to walk outside, through the parking lot, in the dark to gain access to the indoor pool/spa. When we asked for a room in the actual hotel, we were told they were all booked up. There was no indication online when we made our reservation that we'd be staying in a different, separate hotel/building. We would NOT have stayed there if we had known.
Stayed here for a night. Nice clean rooms, wish they had a snack area to grab some snacks as I arrived late. Other than that, the overall hotel was nice. Would definitely stay here again on future trips
The room was clean and the staff was VERY friendly and welcoming! The hotel was located near the beach and also near a variety of stores. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Grand Haven.
The Best Western Beacon Inn is a nice, clean place to stay and just a 5 minute drive to Grand Haven beach. The room had plenty of space with a comfortable bed. This is our second stay at this hotel and it was just a nice as it was the first time. We chose it for it's proximity to the beach--less than 5 minute drive. The mini fridge include a small freezer which was just the right size for me to refreeze the ice packs for our cooler. The breakfast was a typical hotel continental breakfast with lots of carbs, but there were fresh apples, oranges, bananas, and yogurt. We would stay here again.
The worst mattress I have ever slept on. The mattress triggered an old back problem that was previously resolved. The room smelled, the carpeting was sticky, and it was dark and out dated. Not much else you can do except bite the bullet and stay here since Grand Haven has such limited hotel options. Hopefully your stay is better
great place tp stay, very frienly people, clean rooms, nice pool and hot tub, was a great exsperience. cant wait for another stay here! bring the whole famialy, if not for anything just a night of relaxing.
Been staying here for several years as summer boaters. Good location, nice rooms and amenities, and outstanding staff/service. Not always easy to find a motel that an accommodate parking a 24 foot speedboat and trailer, but no issue here. Should also mention it is a good value as well.
we had a outside room...very clean rooms...pool area very nice and clean....breakfast options very nice due to covid...friendly and helpful staff ....only problem we encountered was a lot of weeds and garbage in the rocks right outside our sliding glass doors...if weeds were controlled and garbage picked up it would be so much prettier to sit on the patio and look into the courtyard...
Room was very clean. Bed comfortable and shower hot. 3 things that make for a nice visit in a hotel. Kendra, the Office Manager, went over and above her job description to rectify a billing issue we incurred with Booking.com. Charges were put on my account after I cancelled my original booking dates. Kendra spoke directly to Booking.com and Beacon Hill refunded all my money! (Not Booking.com). Who goes out of their way any more to accommodate guests like that? Very few people, I tell you. So Kendra and the Beacon Hill gang earned 5 stars for their outstanding service. "I'll be back". Patricia Kiss
The staff was extremely friendly, our room was neat and clean. Our first days plans got rained out and the girls at the front desk (I wish I had names) gave us ideas of things to do in the area. We had a comfortable stay, and the area was really nice. Great location. I wish we would've made it to the musical fountain, maybe next time.
We enjoyed this hotel and would stay again. We enjoyed the outside seating area in the back of our unit and look for that at all hotels we stay at. The 5 minute drive to the beach and shopping area was easy. During your stay, drive to Spring Lake (about 10 minute drive) and eat at the Village Bakery. It was delicious. Also The Deck restaurant in Muskegon was nice.
Good location, older rooms that smell (view was nice, facing the back trees, we stayed in the back building), the lobby reeking of chlorine from the pool, staff was very nice, limited breakfast selection but very well-mainained. Nice outdoor courtyard where to sit and enjoy the weather. I thought it was over-priced for the 4th of July weekend.
This hotel has really gone down hill since Covid! I have stayed at the Beacon Inn several times as we have family that lives in Grand Haven. We have always felt safe and thought the hotel staff was the best of what Grand Haven has to offer. Unfortunately after our experience this last time we will NEVER return. The person who checked us in was condescending when she checked us in. As she was checking us in she had a conversation with another employee about how it was not her job to check room cleanliness. Then about an hour later there was some guy who was hanging around in the hall outside of our room who definitely was not a guest. When I finally found this same woman who was behind closed doors with another employee to express my concern for my safety, she insulted me by refusing to do anything about the guy who was loitering and telling me my fear was unfounded! I will not repeat the word she called me here but needless to say it was insulting and if my employer found out I used that word in a conversation with a customer I would be fired on the spot. The next day and day after I asked two separate other check in clerks at other times to speak to the hotel's General Manager and each time was told she was unavailable and neither of these people offered any means for me to contact the general manager. The room itself was fine but obviously there had been a problem in the bathroom at some point as the area ceiling area at an access panel was dirty and while someone had tried to clean up the ceiling it wasn't a thorough cleaning. The so called continental breakfast looked like something out of a vending machine. The lobby had stacks of reams of paper stacked on the floor in one corner, a divider is used to cordon off the former lounge area that is made from cardboard and employees are allowed to sit there but not guests supposedly due to Covid restrictions. If you are staying more than one night there is no housekeeping in your room. Overall, there is no security, no appreciation for the paying guest and gross mismanagement! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ... IT'S EXPENSIVE AND YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THE BEST WESTERN BEACON INN!
Service and room were pretty good at a great price point...but room had strong, unfriendly scent and a filthy rug. On the other hand, room was clean and otherwise OK, and we were able to open patio door, which went a long ways to control odor. Also nice facilities.
We paid $525 for 2 nights in what was supposed to be a hotel. When my husband and 2 young sons (6 & 8) checked in, they were put in a motel room that exists in the property. When I booked (through the Best Western website), there was NO indication that staying in a separate, exterior building was a possibility. I would NOT have paid that price for a motel. We were not interested in a motel room for safety reasons with our young kids, but we were stuck upon arrival because everything else was booked up for that weekend. I consider this COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE, and it will make me unlikely to ever feel comfortable booking another stay in a Best Western. Bait and switch.
When I made the reservation I asked for a handicap assessable room. I was told that the shower was a roll in shower. That was true. However, the toilet was lower than expected and the bed was way too high for me to get into by myself. My husband had to help me in and out of the bed the whole time.
We only stayed one night, but it was a pleasant experience. The woman at the front desk was really nice and attentive. Our room was clean and while not huge, big enough that my four daughters and I weren't tripping over each other. The bathroom was clean and the shower was perfect! You just don't always know what to expect with hotel showers as far as water flow and pressure, but we were impressed. I slept wonderfully. I thought the bed and pillows were comfortable. The pool was really clean and well-maintained. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
Not what I expected when I booked our stay. Wish I had been told that instead of staying in the main hotel, we'd be placed in a motel that exists behind the main building. We could have gotten past that, except for the fact that these three to four motel buildings behind the main, are all single level with a courtyard in the middle. This allows for two of our three nights to be completely interrupted by parties in the neighboring room. The neighboring room invited guests/friends over to party and had loud music and were right outside our patio doors until after 3am. Unsupervised kids were running around and kept trying to unlock the adjoining doors between our rooms and trying to gain access to ours. Hotel employees could easily see and hear the gathering and people over capacity for the room and did nothing. One of the worst hotel stay experiences I have ever had.
We enjoyed our stay Best Western Beacon in Grand Haven that is located on Main local highway and close to beautiful beaches, dunes and light house. The hotel was clean and employees were very kind, professional and attentive.
Whatever your reason for travelling near Grand Haven, the Best Western Beacon Inn has always enhanced my visits. It is great to know that a clean room with plenty of extras awaits you all day. They have done nicely during the challenging COVID times by providing breakfasts, a pleasant setting despite being on a main road and a staff that treats everyone as part of the community. Good knowledge of restaurants and touristy and non touristy activities as well.
We went for the weekend that spring break. It was very clean and the workers were very friendly. The pool and hot tub were amazing. The pool is a little cold at first but once you get use to it is fine.
I've stayed at this location several times over the years. Very simply - they consistently do an overall good job. Desk staff is friendly and they take pride in the quality and cleanliness of their rooms.
Hope this finds everyone reading this happy, healthy and safe. These are unusual and challenging times and the city of Grand Haven and the wonderful staff at the Best Western Beacon Inn lives up to its name as a beacon of pleasant lodging and atmosphere. Everyone was friendly and helpful. They had to remove brochures/postcards/goodies due to the virus but had them available in a clean and safe way for guests who requested them. Room was clean with space for setting up business needs, wi-fi, etc. Bathrooms were clean and stocked and didn't need servicing. Breakfast was simple but perfect for the situation. When up and running, the breakfast at this location is amazing. The location allows walking, biking and/or driving through a very nice part of Michigan. Being squeezed for time, it's nice not to have to worry about little things. Everyone here seems well trained and adaptable. The doors to the nice Courtyard are an added bonus even in fall weather. Would highly recommend to anyone for any reason.
This hitel was very nice. Had a modern look and clean. The pool was amazing as was the bath tub. It was the biggest tub i have seen in a hotel. I enjoyed my stay very much and will definately try and find my way back there again. A+
Would never stay there again. There was no visible upkeep or care. I was unhappy with my stay and would not recommend to anyone. I did not feel secure and could not wait to leave. Updates and maintenance needed!
The property was very clean. Staff all very nice and friendly. Good location as well. King room was spacious with a VERY nice and comfy office chair and desk was good for getting work done. Nice big window overlooking the courtyard. Huge fridge and nice microwave. Very good selection of channels on the TV. Bed was very comfy - pillows were a wee bit hard/thick, but still got a good nights sleep. Only two issues that prevented the 5 star rating: footsteps from unit above were very easy to hear as well as their toilet flushing. Grab and go bagged breakfast was not available 30 mins before the end of breakfast time and no one behind front desk or in their lounge area to request one - not a huge deal since there are good food option nearby. Strong WiFi!
The lobby looks like a cheap motel. No hot breakfast because of COVID however the Holiday Inn in Kalamazoo this am had hot breakfast. You could not get it yourself but you told them what you wanted and they had to get it. These rooms are really run down and sheets are rough...without fabric softener. Not a place I would go back to.
We only stayed at the beacon inn for one night. Overall, our stay was fine and we didn't spend too much time in the hotel room. I read reviews stating this hotel was exceptionally clean, and I'd have to disagree unfortunately. There were multiple stains on the carpet, I found 4 fake nails, and what looked like cheezit crumbs on the floor. The bathroom also could have been cleaner. For the price, I guess it wasn't that unacceptable, but I was still pretty grossed out.
Clean room, comfortable bed, great amenities, good customer service! We always enjoy staying at Best Western hotels. Quick check in and out, fresh water and coffee even during evening hours. Staff was courteous and knowledgeable.
Very clean outside and in. Room was spotless, I could really tell it had been cleaned. Bed was very good, location was on main road but very safe area. Would have given an OUTSTANDING but the Breakfast offering was terrible compaired to other hotels.
We like that this location is close to bike trails and beaches. We hop on our bikes at Beacon BW and ride into town or get on the Lakeshore Drive bike path. The rooms are spacious with a bench at the end of each bed for each suitcase.
Always a great stay even with the Covid. The room are very clean and comfortable. Maid service is limited if stay more the one night. but no big deal. Beds and Pillows are nice, very quite and you feel safe here, Short drive to everything.
Always a good place to stay although the amenities were missing due to virus. Still a positive staff and good overall experience. Better when no virus of course but still very positive. Despite the missing amenities the staff (especially the maids) remained very helpful and positive and I definitely do recommend this place (Beacon Inn.)
I was very pleased with my family's stay here last week. The rooms were very clean, updated, and the beds comfortable. I have to also say the water pressure in the shower was fantastic after a day at the beach. Quick drive to the city beach as well as the state beach, and a short drive to the downtown area. The lobby was also clean and the front desk staff friendly. The indoor pool and hot tub were not open- I wish that would have been made clear on the hotel website. Great location and amenities for the price.
Made a reservation by calling the hotel, they had mixed it up when I got there and on top of not getting our rooms, they charged me double ($800) and said there was nothing more they could do. Do not recommend.
This hotel is very clean. I have stayed in both the main hotel building and the building out to the side of the property and they are both very clean. The check-in and check-out experience was quick and easy. The price for the stay is under what I expected. I will be staying here for all of my Grand Haven trips!
Booked online last minute. Didn't have time to read all the reviews for other local hotels but picked this one because the location and price was right. So there are definitely other room choices with much higher rates at this hotel. Tourist town so the price is a little higher than other places. Room was okay; I was expecting an inside hallway entrance. The pictures on their website fails to show the 'other building' where we stayed. Adequate room, nothing special. Due to Covid-19, I did wipe everything down before we settled in. Found visible dirt on the refrigerator. Everything else seemed fine. Quiet area. McDonald's next door if you want breakfast other than the apple and water that was provided upon request.
My husband and I were looking for a relaxing getaway and found it here! We stayed in the King/Jacuzzi room which is located in a private single story row of the building. Everything was clean, presented neatly and the decor was simple but functional, the lamps had outlets built in the base for easy charging of our cell phones and laptop. We parked right at our door which made unloading our luggage and bicycles much easier. The front desk staff was friendly and quick to offer suggestions for local restaurants/attractions. This was helpful as some of the local business were not open due to covid. With that said, our time spent wasn't diminished by these closings, we had a great time and enjoyed biking, the beach and restaurants. The Two Yolks , Toasted pickle and The Paisley pig were outstanding in service and deliciousness.
The room was fine the issue was on the website it mention a modified breakfast bar which I understand but advertised the heated pool with no updates. When we got there we found out the pool was closed and no coffee at the modified breakfast bar. I could have and would have stayed elsewhere if I new this ahead off time and saved slot of money very poor value
This hotel is a very comfortable qnd relaxing place to stay the price is lower then i expected for the room and service i received. The staff was very helpful kind. The king size bed and pillows is the most comfortable bed ive slept in in a while so nice i overslept through checkout thankful for the understanding kf the staff.
What a gem! Very friendly and efficient staff all around....front desk, cleaning people, breakfast area folks.....truly the whole works! This is a very clean place! Great stay at a great price! We would certainly stay here again, if we have the chance.
They have everything going for them. Great customer service, clean rooms, pool/hot tub, fitness room, internet availability/wifi, and a great hot breakfast. We had a fridge and microwave in our room in the main building. Elevator is available for 2nd and 3rd floors. Highly recommend! Make sure you call the actual hotel for reservations...they have a great internal rewards program.
This hotel was great from the moment I walked in. The lady at the front desk was friendly and check was quick. The rooms are pretty large and clean. The breakfast is good they have eggs, bacon, oatmeal, and cereal ect.
Best Western is a Awesome place to stay.Always clean and beautiful rooms .The staff are always friendly and helpful. There customer service is what makes me continue to stay at there hotels.Love there rewards program.
We have stayed at the Best Western Beacon Inn over the passed couple years just to get away from our every day life. We live maybe 10 minutes away but staying here always feels like a mini vacation for us. The rooms are clean and comftorable. The staff is amazing! They welcome you like you are their family.
Excellent facility that we have stayed in many times excellent value staff very friendly and accommodating would Recommend to anyone rooms very comfortable good food selection for breakfast in the morning very nice pool and spa area hotel always very well-kept
A very nice hotel with very clean and comfortable rooms. One part of the hotel is more like a motel with the rooms having entry access directly from parking and not connected to the main hotel which wasn't a problem at all, but a bit of a surprise. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Very clean hotel. Rooms were spotless as was every other area of the place. Service was second to none. Would have been nice if the hot tub worked but I get it, things break. However, beware of the uncomfortable mattresses. The hurt my wife and my backs to the point it was hard to walk in the morning. Fix the mattresses and I'd give my stay 5 stars!
I have stayed at this hotel several times this year. I always find the rooms to be extremely clean and comfortable. The breakfast offered at this location is the best in the area. The wifi works wonderfully. Most of the staff was very helpful, but there was an issue with one staff member and the hot tub was not working properly.
We stay here everytime we visit Grand Haven. Staff is consistently welcoming and hotel is convenient and clean. Breakfast is always good. Special requests for high floor quiet room is cheerfully accommodated. Thank you
One of our best hotel experiences. Impeccably clean. The breakfast had many fresh choices with extras that we have never been offered. Every staff member we encountered including the manager and owner were extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful.
Absolutely a great stay and the rooms are very large. My only drawback are the pillows, bring your own. I had forgotten ours. Location is so nice, many dining options are available, as well as tons of quaint stores for shopping. Love the downtown area too.
we stayed here twice. Once with our grand children and once alone..We will definitely stay again.....good breakfast, clean rooms and close enough to the lake. lots of choice's for dining out .We recommend it.
All areas of the hotel were clean and welcoming. Quick check in. Utilized the pool area which was also clean. The hot tub may have been a touch too hot. Hotel is located near many amenities including shopping, resturaunts, and local tourist attractions including the lake and downtown shops. Breakfast was good and always maintained throughout the morning with nothing running out and counter area clean. Would highly recommend to others in the area. Economical, clean, friendly and a great location. Only cons were the hot tub being a touch too hot for me and the pillows on the bed were very large, however this would definitely not detur me from staying in the future.
This is a great hotel at a reasonable price. The staff was very nice and helpful. Everything was very clean. The breakfast is very good with lots of variety. The pool and hot tub very very nice too. We will be back.
We will definitely stay here if we travel to Grand Haven in the future. Friendly, helpful staff. Very clean room and facility. We were pleasantly surprised when offered an room upgrade by Autumn at the front desk.
some of the buildings are "old" style with you parking by the door which was perfect for me with all the junk I was carrying last week. For my associate, she wanted intereior doors and they were availble for her too! rooms were clean, the folks at the desk were top notch and friendly. plus with McD's next store, a fresh large cold Coke for $1 was great!!
Nice comfortable rooms and an awesome breakfast. Close to shopping and Grand Haven State Park. We loved the musical fountain and shops downtown and had an amazing dinner at Don Luis just down the road. We'll be visiting again soon!
This hotel had been upgraded in recent years. We stayed in the main building. The staff at check in and the cleaning staff were helpful, courteous, competent, and went out of their way to talk about the area of Grand Haven, as this was our first visit to this area. Rooms were nicely decorated, clean, and quiet. Would stay again if we are in the area.
Sweet surprise in Grand Haven...a clean, modern reasonable hotel in a lovely beach community. Modern amenities with lots of space and places to connect electronics. Good recommendation for dinner and easy access to main road. Parking was plentiful, too.
Older but nice hotel We stayed in the main building room was quiet as we were at the end of the hall on the second floor breakfast was decent and beds were comfortable seemed clean and staff were friendly elevator was slow so might be an issue when the hotel is full because there is only one elevator would diffidently recommend
I was advised that I had been given a free upgrade when I was checking in and they accommodated the rest of my party with free upgrade as well so we could all be together. Will stay here again when I return.
Very polite staff, extremely extremely clean room! We were placed in the Annex Building because the hotel was nearly booked solid due to Labor Day. Cannot say enough about how clean the room was. One warning, taller people will not want the annex, the shower head is very low. Price was high I believe due to Labor Day prices all throughout Grand Haven but we were fortunate to get the room. It may not be located right in the thick of Grand Haven downtown shops, but it is a short drive and still near restaurants and shopping.
When making reservations in Grand Haven we only stay at Best Western Beacon Inn. Wonderful hotel staff and rooms. Hotel is located only short drive from downtown, Lake Michigan beach and restaurants. Also short drive to Holland, MI.
Hotel was Clean, convenient for our activities. decent breakfast, friendly and knowledgeable staff. One of the nicer hotels I have stayed in. $180 per night feels high for a hotel that wasn't even full on a week night. Alarm on clock was left on and woke us too early.
My family and I had a very good time at Best Western Gran Heaven MI, the hotel was very comfortable and clean, the room was nice and clean, no bad odors. The swimming pool was great, good size clean and new. The hotel team very good attitude with the customers, I will be back next opportunity.
This is a good hotel for a short stay in the Grand Haven area. The front desk staff are very nice. We stayed in a room with an entrance from the parking area. The room was large and quiet. It was an easy in and out for my mother who has limited mobility. The bed was good, plenty of hot water and ac worked well. The ac was located so it was blowing directly on the head of the beds--I didn't care for this--but some may be fine with this. I liked the benches at the foot of each bed for suitcases. The breakfast was the traditional "free" fair--boring, but edible. There is a McDonald's right next door if you would prefer that. The lady working in the breakfast area was doing a great job of keeping things stocked and cleaned. This is a summer destination for Lake Michigan so prices can be high in those months--it's just a matter of supply and demand. It's a small town--with a great beach. It is not a luxury hotel by any means-but clean, comfortable and friendly. I would probably not choose a room with an outside door in the winter--it may be cold. We had a nice stay and I would definitely stay here again. I lived in that area for many years and was happy with our stay.
My husband and I have stayed here several times. Twice we've enjoyed the King room with jacuzzi. The staff are friendly. The rooms are a nice size and are clean. We enjoyed the pool. The hotel is biking distance from the downtown area.
Clean hotel with several options regarding rooms. Main hotel rooms, courtyard rooms are a personal favorite and there is a third building back from the main building that offers additional rooms. Breakfast is typical with hot choices, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt and cold cereal options. Indoor pool the kids enjoy. Comfortable beds. Courtyard rooms seem larger than the typical hotel room. Lake Michigan is a few miles away only because of city traffic rules regarding left turns at the lights. In Grand Haven most left turns on to US31 require you to go past the light and turn left and then right.
When I checked in Aug 6, 2019, I told the girl I needed to be on the 1st floor, and whoever got the room above me needs to be quiet. Of course they gave that room to 2 families with small kids who stomped around on my ceiling til midnight. I paid and stayed at BW four nights. The rest of the week things got better. Breakfast here was OK. I'm an early riser anyway so I only saw a few people at breakfast when I came down. It was a bit of a walk from my room in the 2 story annex building to the buffet. Like I said, the selection was adequate. I will probably stay somewhere else next time.
While parts of the hotel are older, the owners have done a good job making it comfortable and clean. The continental breakfast had a lot more (good) choices than expected. The pool and hot tub were also nice and clean.
Best Western was clean and the star was very helpful and nice. Housekeeping was great and gave extra towels when asked for. Check in staff was willing to set up early check in and late check out at no extra charge.
We made a quick, spur-of-the-moment trip to Grand Haven. This was the beat rated motel we could find that had vacancies and was reasonably priced. There are really three hotels. A duplex, a one-story strip of rooms and the main, newer building. The room was adequate, very clean and the air conditioning worked very well. There was an outdoor patio area but nothing really to look at. Room was clean, but old and not really worth the price. The breakfast was very good. The staff seemed a little too interested in procuring my credit card for “incidentals”. I have an idea that the experience may be different depending on in which building you stay. Let me be clear, it was not bad for a spur of the moment place to crash and the room was clean as could be. If we were staying more than one night, or booking in advance, I would have sought out a newer place for the money.
Stayed in the single-story section. Rooms were updated, comfortable, and clean. Breakfast provided enough options. Staff did a great job keeping it stocked even while it was packed with customers. Pool area was decent. Convenient location.
Clean facility. Expensive - $265+tax/night. Pillows are not great nor were the mattresses. But the A/C (even on low) was extremely loud and windy. Without the A/C on, it was too hot/muggy. For the price, not all that impressed - couldn't sleep for more than an hour at a time.
We came into town to see the fireworks for just a quick getaway. The Best Western is the only place in town our larger family can get a room together. We've stayed several times at the Beacon Inn now and it's always been great! Clean room, pool plenty big enough for the kids to enjoy, great staff, and a filling *free* breakfast all make for a great stay everytime.
The service was outstanding! Our check in took less than 5 minutes and the same with our check out. The breakfast was ok. The location is close to town and not far from the beach. The room was clean but kind of dark.
The hotel itself was wonderful and the staff was great. The only down side was that our room was in a building that was not attached to the main building so when it was raining, it wasn't fun to walk in the rain to get to breakfast.
The Best Western at Grand Haven was as expected a great place to stay. At $144 per night I thought was a little steep, but I will stay at a Best Western any day! They are the best.in my opinion. The staff always seem to excel when it comes to pleasing their customers.
The breakfast lobby area was very clean. The Staff was very helpful when we needed anything. The breakfast was pleasant. Very friendly staff. The cleaning staff did a great job on keeping our rooms clean and towels up.
Clean rooms and lobby area, great breakfast-hot foods were hot and good variety, friendly staff. Close to Holland for tulip festival without paying the high prices to stay in Holland. Nice pool and hot tub. Plenty of towels. Easy to find.
Recently stayed at this hotel with 2 other couples to see the tulip festival in Holland. The rooms were fresh, bright and clean, the front desk staff was very helpful directing us to different attractions, and restaurants. Every person we encountered that worked there was friendly and courteous . We would definitely stay there again, or recommend it to others.
Friendly and attentive staff. Pool, fitness area, dining room all very clean and accessible. Our room was clean, neat and at the perfect temperature for sleeping right when we walked in, which never happens at any hotel and convenient for us as we arrived late at night. Will definitely recommend to friends and family who come to town.
Overall was good but my room needed to be updated. There was not enough light in the room if 6ou just used the light switch. You had to turn on every light in the room plus open the curtains to light up the room.
I've stayed here a couple of times in the last year for visits. You are only a mile from downtown and the amenities are perfect for a quick, one night trip out this way. Definitely worth staying at for under $100 most of the time.
Stayed at this property approximately every other week since November 2018. Winter rates are a good value. We always stay on 3rd floor in the main part of the hotel. Very quiet. Staff is more than friendly abound accommodating. Pool area has had some issues that they are working on.
Had a great time will be coming back again it was the cleanest hotel I have ever been in the staff were awesome. The hotel was really modern looking and the rooms were perfect I recomend going to this hotel
Clean, affordable and convenient for this work trip. No real lobby area as this also serves as the breakfast room. The food was typical motel fare and could use more variety and options. The room was comfortable and the hotel is located in a good place.
The beds were very comfortable wit enough pillows to get a very good night sleep. The cot my Daughter slept on was just a comfortable as the beds were. I would recommend anyone to stay at best Western than anywhere else
Checked into rooms (2) with 5 grandchildren for a winter fun weekend. Rooms were wonderful, clean and warm. Pool was great, grandchildren were in the pool for 5 hours Saturday night and 3 hours Sunday morning. Breakfast was very good. We brought our snacks and had pizza delivered Saturday night. The breakfast area has windows into the pool which allowed us to eat and watch swimmers at the same time.
The guys love to stay there. The guys love the breakfast. They like the Girls that work there. They love the pool. The service is great. Its is always clean. The beds are great. The location is great just down the road from where their are working. This is a great place.
We were looking for a place to stay, as I was visiting friends in my old stomping grounds. Will usually just need a place to crash, take a shower, and then leave. I have stated this hotel several times , And have always been quite pleased with the location, service, cleanliness, and price point. The staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming in has a great sense of humor.. Would highly recommend them to anyone!
I was surprised to get this room at such a great competitive rate during my recent trip to Grand Haven. The rooms were very large for a King bed and affordable priced! It also wasn't too far from the main area downtown so it was easy to get there and back without any issues. I definitely recommend picking this place if you need an inexpensive option that's worth the price you pay as inside was modern and everything seemed very new and fresh.
The Beacon Inn was great. The staff was friendly and the hotel was very clean. They keep everything very nice. The bed was by far the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in (other than home). That alone will get me back when I'm in Grand Haven again.
We were told the room was on the courtyard, so we presumed there was a patio area with some lounge chairs, perhaps an umbrella for shade, but it's only got a disappointing view of the floodplain behind the hotel. The room was clean, and roomy, but smelled of stale smoke unfortunately.
Would recommend. We all enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly. Rooms were a good size and clean. No odors. They had a large selection of food for breakfast. The hot tub was great after a long day of walking sight seeing.
Stayed for two nights during a business conference. Friendly staff, clean room, good breakfast, checkin and checkout very quick. Have had not-so-great experiences at some Best Westerns in the past, but this one was very good and I would happily stay here again.
We stayed in the main building, and if you aren't familiar with the various options at this hotel, definitely do your homework and read through the reviews. There are three other buildings (two one-story motel-style buildings along either side of the main hotel, plus a larger two-story building in the back) that all have exterior entrances. I did not see the inside of these buildings, but I'm not a fan of exterior entrances, so we requested the main building. Plus, we were staying in the fall, and I didn't want to have to walk outside to get to the pool, which is in the main building. Speaking of the pool, our kids loved the water temperature. There were always towels available, and it was never crowded. Our room was larger than expected, and was clean and modern. The king bed plus pull-out couch was perfect for a family of four. The kids enjoyed the fact that they had their own TV, and I appreciated the fridge and microwave. Breakfast was the only thing that was just OK. I'll admit that there was a good variety of fruit, cereals, yogurt (including go-gurt tubes for the kids, which you don't usually see at hotels), bagels, pastries, etc. However, the hotel-style powdered eggs that were served each day were pretty gross. The breakfast would be so much better if they switched to real eggs.
Great place to enjoy the local attractions and events. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and a great selection for breakfast. Hotel is close to town for dining, shopping and sightseeing.
My cousin and myself as well as our mom's, age 85 and 80, stayed at the Best Western Beacon Inn over the weekend of October 5, 2018. The staff couldn't be more friendly and caring, they were absolutely AWESOME!!! Rooms were clean and very comfortable. The hotel is only about 15 minutes from Muskegon. We had a wonderful weekend and would certainly stay here again and again.
The room and accommodations need a 5, the breakfast needs a 1 or 0. We enjoyed our night in the room which was comfortable and the TV had a new clean remote. The breakfast needs a 1 or a zero. The coffee is made from coffee concentrate which is nasty. We left for another breakfast and coffee option and returned for checkout. Factor a breakfast at another location into the room rate.
We stayed here over a weekend and were very satisfied. Our room was plenty large and the king bed very comfortable. New furnishing, clean and tidy. The breakfast bar was pretty good. We did not use the pool or hot tub but they looked nice. I'd stay here again.
We have always had good experiences at Best Western properties and Beacon Inn did not disappoint. The hotel was easy to get to. The facility was clean. The rooms were comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.
Have stayed at this specific hotel in Grand Haven at least once a year for the past three years. The staff are always very friendly and rooms in the main hotel building are very clean. We have stayed in the offsite building but prefer the main hotel. Great proximity to all things Grand Haven.
Basically a motel that calls itself a hotel. No staff was present at check in or check out, no rewards offered (and I'm top tier) and the jet tub was the only positive thing about the stay. Disgusted and disappointed .
Once again a wonderful experience staying here at Beacon Inn. Wonderful staff and a beautiful place to stay. They have updated pretty much everything. Easy to get to and everything is relatively close by. You won't be disappointed.
After years of decline in the chain, They are making a strong comeback. Stayed 1 night in a king single. Plenty of room, comfy bed, nice breakfast, clean, & reasonably priced. Have a nice building with pool, fitness room & rooms besides old fashion outdoor rooms. 2nd Best Western we used this trip & will try others.
Hotel was freshly remodeled and very clean Good satisfying breakfast was included. Staff was friendly too! Hotel was very close to the water and downtown shopping area, along with any other store that was needed. Theatre with 9 shows we're close by if weather doesn't cooperate.
Room amd staff were nice, breakfast was good, room could've been cleaner. Leftover sushi from the previous guest was in the fridge and standing water in the tub. Location to Grand Haven was good. Nice secluded parking on the side of the hotel.
We have stayed here before and have always enjoyed our stay. We were in the back, which I believe is newer. Breakfast was great. Good choices! Wish we could have stayed longer, one night not enough. Be back someday!
Great location, the staff was very friendly and wonderful. Nice room in the court yard, great breakfast. When we checked in was told we were upgraded, was able to check in early also. Very friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend staying here.
We stayed at the Beacon Inn for a last hurrah vacation before school began. There are a few options as far as buildings to obtain a room. We stayed in the newer main building with our two young kids. The room was nice and clean and our stay was very pleasant. The breakfast had the typical hot and cold options, and everyone in the family found something they liked to eat each morning of our stay. The location is on the main road through town so it's a good place to stay if you're planning some day trips outside of Grand Haven. But if the beach is your goal, it's still just a short drive. One thing that would have been useful would be a guest laundry room, but not a deal breaker for us. Would definitely stay here again.
The hotel staff were extremely friendly here. Check-in was quick. There is water available in the lobby. I suggest asking for a room in the newer section. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. We didn't swim in the pool because we came to go to the beach. The pool looked decent and there were always people in it. The breakfast was decent. The woman working the breakfast area was working super hard to keep up with the demand. I would have liked to have hash browns as an option. There were eggs, meat and waffles along with standard hotel breakfast offerings like cereal, bagels and oatmeal. My kids were thrilled to have Go-Gurts.
I selected this hotel after reading the positive reviews as cleanliness was my #1 concern. Wow! Our room was spotless and the beds were so comfortable. The front desk staff were all very friendly, pool & hot tub was great, and lots of choices for breakfast. Great stay!!!
The front desk clerk Rowin I believe the name was could not be any less skilled to do her job. She was very unsure of anything and could not answer basic questions. I was disappointed she even had a problem checking us out something very basic that you would assume that she knew how to do being that was her position.
We stayed there for one night. The hotel is simply excellent. We stayed in the main building which is really nicely upgraded and super clean. The hotel is surrounded by many eating places. Drive to the beach is really short. Breakfast was also decent. I highly recommend this hotel!
We came to Grand Haven to run in the USCG 10K, at the start of Coast Guard week. The hotel was great! Super accommodating! Maid service was super helpful, when we needed additional towels and coffee. Prior to going, I arranged adjoining rooms and was not disappointed! Room, bathrooms, linens, towels, etc., all very clean! The area was AMAZING! A great beach town - lots of local restaurants and sites to see.
I am not a traveler and do not like staying at hotels, but this one was very clean and everything was in working order. We stayed at in a room that faced the court yard. It was also pet friendly. Breakfast was great and staff was friendly. Would stay here again.
This location is completely run down! Room doors are falling off hinges, moldings falling off the walls. Room smelled and was not clean. Exterior room door security locks broken. Breakfast was so crowded could not eat at the hotel Would NOT recommend this location!
This hotel is a grab bag of motel/hotel there are differnt buildings. Its very old built in the 50s and the new updates are poor. No in room wifi have to go to main building. Pool was over packed with outside doors open with people sitting around the courtyard smoking. The dmoke scent was coming in the pool area so my kids and i had to leave. The room is well ok, you cant polish a turd so the room is what it is. Noisy ac unit beds were damp and smelled. I had to go get lysol to spray them. Very disappointed for 160 a night.
We were fortunate to get a room because hotel rooms are scarce in this tourist city. As a result of supply & demand, the hotels are WAY over-priced!!! Over $250 for one night at a BW!!! Our room was clean, very good complimentary, full breakfast bar. Will come again, but at a different time of year when rates are reasonable!
My wife and I came from Thailand to Grand Haven to meet and pick up our daughter after the completion of her student exchange program. The hotel is in good and convenient location with walking distance to many restaurants. We stayed for two nights in the main building. The room was clean and had two comfortable queen beds, a microwave and a fridge. We used its nice and clean pool and jacuzzi. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was average according to Best Western standard.
The pool area was nice and clean. The staff was awesome and polite and gave nice detail. The rooms weee updated a plus but the toilets flushed so awkwardly slow lol. The breakfast was delicious and the woman today was alone and worked her butt off. To feed a sold out hotel which was awesome. The beds slept so nice one bed was a queen the other had to be a full. I will be back!
My husband and I stayed in this hotel for our honeymoon three years ago and then returned for a weekend getaway this week. This hotel is by far the cleanest, most well maintained hotel we have stayed in in the whole country. The staff are friendly and pleasant- overall it is a fantastic place to stay for business or vacation!
This is the #1 hotel in Grand Haven? What do the others look like? We were in the back building which is pretty old. It was raining, and we had to go, hauling our suitcases, up uncovered slick old stairs to the second floor room. No elevator back there. It was a standard motel type room. Beds Ok. Shower Ok. Clean enough. A walk to the breakfast room, pool, lobby. We booked ahead and I had to wonder if they didn't reserve walk-ins the rooms in the more modern front building as a selling point? Adequate but nothing special. Out of the main town and harbor perhaps a mile and a half.
noisy plumbing, squeaky floors above(not in main bldg.) , Watch carefully or you might miss it as you drive by. Small sign unlit at twilight. Inn sits far back off main road. Comfortable beds. Room was clean and comfortable. Cushioned seating at foot of each be suitable for placing suitcases.
The over all stay was Very bad. Unenjoyable. Will never suggest this best Western to anyone. The room was not in the main building, a building off to the side look more dumpier. The hotel staff(Tommie) was very rude the first morning when we asked where our wake up call never came, she just shooked her shoulders and walked away. During breakfast she yelled across the room at my wife not to turn up the tv while we were eating breakfast that she would put the words up on the screen, we still turned up the tv cause no one could here it. On Sunday afternoon upon arrival back from the beach one of the beds in our room was not made up and the desk told us that they only change the sheets every other day, I asked when ours were changed last and they could not answer us , so are we sleeping on dirty sheets or what. WOW I asked for the hotel to change and make up our beds again while we waited . Again WOW And had to ask for toilet paper and tissue which was not restock in the morning. Upon check out the clek didn't ask how our stay was or nothing just told us your check out and walked away from us. Again WOW if this is the way the staff and hotel treats guest and the rooms they stay in the Best Western won't be open long.
10. We have been on the road travelling for a trip to Quebec and have used this chain on most of the trip. This was the best stay so far. The staff was awesome. Angela at the front desk was extremely helpful in recommending a good place to eat. We even got a discount just for mentioning her name. Judy was looking after the food and making sure all of the guests were well looked after and the breakfast was the best tasting yet on this trip. Thank you ladies.
Very nice location that's close to everything yet not on the real busy waterfront. Only several minutes away though to park and shop or walk the waterfront town. The state park and pier with lighthouse is a close walk. There are many restaurants and shops to explore. We golfed the Grand Haven Golf Course and it was great.
Good and happy stay in Best western hotels. stayed in Miami and Michigan location Best western. Have a suggestion that Breakfast items needs more options including Omelettes and pancakes . That would be more nice
Comfortable, good breakfast, newly remodeled, good value overall. Helpful courteous staff. Nothing else to say to meet the 200 character mandate for the review so I am simply filling in space. Stupid requirement for review.
The hotel was very clean . Did not have any problems . The location was excellent it was close to the lake shopping and restaurants. When talking to the housekeeping staff I had requested that they only picked up towels and my trash. I really appreciate all the staff and we'll stay again.
Room was comfortable, breakfast hit the spot. Went to the pool, for me it was cool. Hot tub was hot but found a scum line around the tub, got out ??. Still enjoyable stay. Oh they want me to say more. The staff was friendly the hallways where clean as well as the room.
Updated hotel with incredible staff -- Autumn, Tommie, and Kathy. Extremely quiet, clean, and welcoming. Staff was professional, warm and friendly, helpful. Our weekend stay felt like home away from home. Breakfast was excellent with much variety. Lobby very welcoming. So many nice amenities here at a reasonable price. Stay here -- you will have a great experience. Thank You!
After my husband booked a hotel down the road without reading any reviews, we arrived and we knew we would not be able to stay there for the two nights we were in town. We called the best western and Autumn was so lovely and accommodating, she helped us get a room and was sympathetic to our experience at the other hotel. The room was very clean, and no overpowering cleaner odor like the previous hotel we were in. Didn't utilize the breakfast but did enjoy the all day coffee. Hot tub was a nice touch. Would definitely stay again when in town, and thank you so much Autumn!
Extremely nice room, Nice firm beds and soft pillows, The bathroom was more than clean!! The whole place is clean and the breakfast was good. Very nice service/desk personnel, so my 2 days were perfect. Coffee & water 24/7. Would most definitely stay here again.
The service of the staff was absolutely top-notch. A pleasurable experience from booking to check-out. Tommi (sp?) made sure our requests were met during booking and post check-out. We were met by Autumn and Parth who both helped us with our special circumstances and made our check-in easy with members of our group arriving at different times. Then there was Autumn who was such a sweet, caring young woman who went out of her way to make sure our early, early morning included breakfast options even though we were unable to be there during the breakfast hours. She also made sure we had proper transportation arrangements made to get to the train station safely. Quality staff means quality stay for us! Beds were a little hard but we managed. Thank you all
Hotel is very clean and modern and staff is great. My desk wasn't well lit so I simply moved a light. Shower by Koehler is a one piece unit, very clean, didn't care for the straight down curtain (compared to curved rods) but it worked. I would stay there again. Nice family restaurant within walking distance across a car lot.
We were in Grand Haven for a New Year's Eve celebration. I must admit I wasn't expecting much, as we usually stay in 4-5 star hotels. Upon entering the lobby we were surprised to see a bright, up to date design that made me smile. Our basic 2 queen bed room was also decorated nicely and immaculate. I have already recommended this hotel to our family. Thanks Best Western Beacon Inn for the pleasant surprise.
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was hot and laid out perfectly. The room was very nice and I would definitely stay there the next time I am in the area. I will be looking forward to next time to see more of the area because the night we stayed there was a snow blizzard
We chose this hotel because it was rated number one in Grand Haven on Trip Advisor. It is number one! The exterior was clean and well lit when we arrived in the evening. The rooms are clean and updated. The pool area was also clean and well stocked with towels. The breakfast area is adequate in size and has a number of selections to choose from, including hot items. Room was clean and comfortable. Rate a 10 in my book,
Still the best hotel in the area for the money. Rooms very clean, recently updated decor. Staff very professional and courteous, goes above and beyond to accommodate. Will remain our go-to hotel when in area
Clean, attractive, well appointed. Very loud toilet and exhaust fan made for irritation, as you only have one switch that turns on both the light and the exhaust fan. so, if you wanted light you also got noise, very very loud noise. The bed was not awful, but with some back issues, it didn't make for a restful night.
Very friend staff .. especially the front desk people. Stay in the ground level garden rooms. They were very clean and had sliders to small sitting areas plus access to the main patio area just outside the indoor pool. Would stay again.
Usually our experience at the value based hotels is marginal. But this Best Western is at a level that I see in top notch hotels around the country. Clean, bright atmosphere, caring staff, and well decorated.
The hotel was new inside, very cozy and homey, the staff Kevin Thomas was so wonderful it felt like I was greeted by a friend. Very clean and quiet. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone in the area!!!
Modern hotel everything was clean and nice. Our room was in the main building. Very helpful staff met our request and need for a large comfortable chair. The breakfast was hot and good. We had a very pleasant stay.
My husband and I scheduled a last minute get away to Gran Haven Michigan. We stayed at the Best Western Beacon Inn. I was very impressed with the kind and helpful staff! Our room was very clean, the breakfast exceeded my expectations of a hotel breakfast. The pool and hot tub area was clean and well kept. The hotel had very few guests because we were there out of season. We would definitely stay here again.
Booking over phone was easy. Hotel was helpful and courteous. Room was very clean and neat. Wi-fi worked as expected. All amenities were as expected. We were in town to visit family. We always stay here.
The place was very nice with only a few issues of cleanliness in the bathroom area. Breakfast room was very busy, small, and they could not keep up. I had to wait a long time for food to come, and then it was gone in 10 minutes, only to have to wait again.
We stayed for the weekend while attending a wedding. The interior rooms were nicely updated and clean. The bed was comfortably firm (so glad it wasn't soft like I usually find in hotels). The front desk staff was very pleasant. Be advised that they also have exterior rooms that don't connect to the main building and therefore open directly to the outside. The hotel is on MI-31 but set back enough that you don't hear road noise. It is not in walking distance to the beach or downtown.
We were here one night while visiting from Florida. We got a king bed suite interior access. I mention the access because I had read a review prior to making my reservation that was useful. The INTERIOR access rooms are located in the building where the main lobby, pool and breakfast are. The EXTERIOR access rooms are in a separate building in the back and you would have to walk across a small parking lot to the other building. Our room was super nice, clean and appeared recently upgraded. Samsung TVs, wifi and free breakfast that included scrambled eggs and sausage as well as the other usuals. Only a stone throw from the downtown district.
Beware that there is a 2 story back building behind main hotel that looks to be about 30 yrs old that you might be placed in. Upon booking through best western website I was not aware I might not be in the main hotel (didn't know another building existed!). It was old and smelled like smoke! Room decor was updated which was a plus but overall wouldn't stay here again. Had to walk to our building in the rain/wind/about 50 degrees out after leaving the not warm hot tub in main building. Can't imagine doing that in the winter! Hotel might not be bad if we were allowed to stay in main building. Would have paid more to stay in it if it were an option.
This was a very good stay at the BW Grand Haven, Michigan motel. Rooms were clean and in proper working order. The check-in was quick and efficient. The policy of Children stay free was appreciated. Use of the pool was good. Both pool and Hot Tub were in good condition. Complimentary breakfast was good with very good options.
Front desk personnel were very helpful, considerate and willing to provide suggestions to our questions about local issues. It's a nice building with updated accommodations. Service was great. Breakfast provided was hot & cold items of a wide variety.
When we walk into smaller hotels like this, so many times that kind of musty hotel room smell hits you, not here! We stayed in one of the rooms detached from the main area, and every single aspect of this room looks brand new. I think the cleaning staff needs a bonus, at least chocolates. Autumn, the front desk manager is very kind and patiently spent a lot of time on the phone with a customer with MANY question, she never seemed ruffled and stayed kind. With so much beauty in this area, I'm already planning our next stay here!
It was the middle of the night and I was locked out of my condo in GH. I took a taxi and checked into the Best Western. The night staff was very helpful and she gave me a senior discount and check me into a nice room. The room was so clean and nice. The bed had an excellent mattress for my aching back. The sheets were crisp, appeared new, and tight fitting- so comfortable! The shower was also excellent with super hot water and good volume. Breakfast was pretty good with eggs, cereal, waffles and tasty coffee. There is a swimming pool, whirlpool and fitness center, but I didn't use them. As I said, BW really came through, made me comfortable, and I slept like a baby
Stayed here for two nights during a return visit to Grand Haven. Deceptive! Does not look like much from the outside and it is nothing special on the inside but the rooms are large and extremely clean. Staff is friendly as well. Parking is free as is the WiFi service.
The location is great --- right on a major road and by a bunch of chain restaurants. Close to downtown Grand Haven (which is super cute) and smack dab between Muskegon and Holland MI. Tommi and Stephanie at the front desk were super helpful, friendly and quick with service! The hotel room was spacious, clean and upgraded for Best Western.
Very nice hotel set back from the main road so no road noise. Very clean and breakfast good. What more can one ask? It is only a short drive to the downtown area and the water and Grand Haven seemed to be quite a quite and also very smart place.
My stay at Best Western was good - the only problem was the loud noise of the refrigerator. The breakfast was pretty good. The cleanliness of the room was great. The area surrounding the Hotel was good.
The Best Western in Grand Haven, MI was exceptional. Staff was friendly, courteous and professional. Rooms clean and comfortable. The court yard rooms were very nice and convenient for enjoying a morning cup of coffee.
We only spent one night but hotel was very clean, rooms nice, comfortable beds. Great choices in the morning for breakfast. Would stay here again. Cannot comment on pool or spa as we didn't use them. Very nice hotel
We were pleased with the cleanliness of our hotel room, the ease of access to the pool and work-out facility, the location (beautiful Grand Haven and singing fountain show on Sat.). It was a wonderful stay.
This location is near downtown and easy access to head to Holland or Sagatuck. The hotel is very clean, as is the room we stayed in. The breakfast room is spacious and very well kept. The staff is extremely nice. The courtyard is beautiful!!!
Stopped here on the way back home from Mackinaw City, the desk staff was very pleasant and accommodating. We called earlier in the day but we weren't sure that we would need to stop that night so we did not book the rooms. We arrived late at night without a reservation but the ladies at the desk still honored the rate that we discussed earlier but did not book earlier. We would definitely stay here again.
Down for a business meeting, I was booked into the Best Western. Found the room newly updated and the lobby. The morning breakfast was tasteful and inviting. The pool area was clean. The price was right.
The place was recently updated and in great condition. The breakfast was great in the morning and was well stocked, even at the later time of the hour for it to be over. The front desk staff was friendly and very personable to deal with. I've been here before and always have a good experience. That's why I keep coming back.
We have never been to Grand Haven and we are in Best Western Rewards program. Through the rewards program we got travel certificates that enable us to get credit for the room. We were in the main building where the pool and breakfast area is located. Our room was spotless and it looked very new due to renovations. The breakfast was fine and they had eggs, bacon, bagels, English muffins, yogurt, etc. The price was little high but the certificates we earned helped a lot.
This was a clean and friendly hotel. Most everything looked new and updated. Shower was good, beds comfortable. Flat screen TV with HBO. Nice view from our room out to courtyard. It's not beachy, that's a short drive, but the pool was fine. We were there on a prime weekend, so it wasn't cheap. However it was competitive. The usual toaster/microwave type breakfast, also fine. If you can get a good deal, it's a good place to stay.
I was attending a memorial service and had to pay $30.00 more than my relative who stayed there as well. My relative booked the room online and I called the 800 number. It is a disappointment that the price is gauged by calling the Best Western through their 800 number.
My son and I enjoyed our stay. We rode our bicycles along Lakeshore Trail and we were able to pick up trail by riding from hotel. It's a beautiful trail and we ended up in Holland State Park. It's a beautiful destination, too. Although the stay was comfortable, I thought rates were a bit high, even with reward program.
The hotel was in a great location close to the highway and just a short distance to downtown. The room was clean and spacious and staff was very helpful in assisting us in directions to all the local attractions. We would definitely stay here again.
I found it a little overpriced for how basic the rooms are. I didn't try any of the other hotel amenities other than the room, and even in the room I only slept and showered. So didn't use any amenities in the room either. Not even Wi-Fi, because my stay was very short. The only staff person I met was friendly and professional.
very comfortable, easy access from major highways, excellent staff. their is easy access to the rooms , also the decor is very attractive and relaxing. the location of the hotel gives you exposure to local attractions and is also located in close proximity to lake michigan.
We stayed for two nights to enjoy the beach in Grand Haven. The staff was friendly but we did not find the public areas -- lobby and elevator -- clean or inviting. It felt cold and unwelcoming. We like a home-away-from-home ambience and this was not it. The room itself was clean and suitable but with the barest of essentials. The furnishings are modern and the bed is comfortable and linens color coordinated. Not our favorite place. And we felt it was too expensive for what we got.
I just have to compliment the employees Tommie, and Kathy with whom we dealt with the most. They were the most helpful and kind people. They made our stay so much more pleasurable. Hard working! Very nice hotel
I enjoyed the stay. We enjoyed time together we enjoyed the breakfast we enjoyed the beach we enjoyed eating out we enjoyed visit with family we enjoyed time together we enjoyed our time at the best western..
After visiting the dunes we'd overlooked booking our hotel at Oceana county. Due to the coast guard event last night every hotel in the cities/towns of Silver Lake, Cherry Point and Muskegon were fully booked. The next town's Grand Haven and we were informed from our last inquiry that their was 1 room left st the Best Western and so we booked it. We did the regular inspections bathroom and bedding. We found evidence that the bedsheets weren't changed so we contacted the night manager and she brought in fresh bedding and we made up the beds. We took our showers and was settled nicely in bed when we realized there was a lot of activity upstairs, it sounded like kids running around (at 12 midnight!). The running died down around 2am then at 3am another type of noise started. We finally got some sleep around 4am. Important tip: BOOK YOUR HOTELS AHEAD OF TIME!
Wonderful stay, had a great time. staff was very helpful. I would recommend Best Western Grand Haven to family and friends. The amenities were great, breakfast was wonderful, too. I will definitely come back.
From checking in to checkout this was a great location, great room, lobby decor artsy and classy! Awesome guest service along with a perfect temperature in the pool, makes for a super pleasant stay! Kendra and Autumn were great and made it easy to want to stay here! Thanks ladies, I will be back.
I have stayed at this Best Western two previous times and it has always been satisfactory. This time, however, the front of the hotel and the lobby had been renovated and it was very sleek, modern and well-decorated.
Having recently stayed at a high-end prestigious hotel in Columbus for work recently, I found the Best Western Beacon Inn to be just as nice AND the breakfast was included in the price of the room. The staff and amenities were better than expected! We will definitely return next year!
We stay here every summer, the hotel is always clean and the location is ideal. The staff is helpful and courteous, we especially appreciate the service we received from Tommie at the front desk. Situated minutes from the heart of downtown Grand Haven.
For up to a group of 5, this is the best hotel in town. Our 2nd trip and we weren't disappointed. Newly remodeled since our last stay. This visit was during the Coast Guard festival, so it was pretty booked. Pros: Breakfasts are hearty with plenty of traditional options for kids and adults to enjoy (one day was eggs over easy with bacon, another was scrambled with sausage/gravy and biscuits; there's a make your own waffle station too). On the main strip and close to pretty much everything. Only 1.5 miles from the beach and easy to get to. Our room had a large mini fridge and microwave which meant leftovers didn't get wasted and we could store snacks easily. Water pressure was never an issue including on Sunday morning when the whole place was checking out. Cons: Rooms can only accommodate 5 -- 2 queen beds plus one rollaway. If your group is larger, you need to get adjoining rooms. No suites. That means large families either split up into 2 rooms or put the kids in their own room. Or look at other options. Check out time can be slow. Plan accordingly. General: Pool is small and no deeper than 5', but it's adequate. We've stayed both a few doors down from the pool and immediately outside the elevator doors (2nd floor) without a noise problem. Interested in swimming, make sure you request a room in the main building for easy access. Towels provided. Overall, great for mid-sized families wanting to get away for a few days. Planning an extended stay, you may want to check into other options.
Although the hotel is not walking distance to the beach or the downtown area it was within 5 min drive. The beach and downtown area have plenty of parking so its no trouble to drive to them. We stayed in the exterior building facing the courtyard. The room was large and very clean. Was surprised how big the refrigerator was, which was helpful as we packed food for lunches at the beach. The breakfast area was busy but had plenty of seating and a great selection of food items.
I confess I was not going to give this hotel 5 stars...I was a little disappointed on arrival that we were in a separate building, but it worked out ok...not too bad of walk across parking lot. It is not that impressive from the outside, reminded me of a motel...but it's the details....the remote control was in a bag that said "fresh remote" - tells me cleanliness matters...strawberry flavored water in the entrance - tells me they care that we've been outside hot and tired and traveling. The room was clean. The air worked well. Everything in the room functioned well. Breakfast had gluten free and dairy free options. They had the normal waffles, yogurt, cereal but also eggs, sausage and good bacon. Upon asking the breakfast lady for ingredients, she went back and produced a label for me. The location was good - just minutes away from the musical fountain. Although I arrived with some apprehension, it turned out to be a nice stay.
Nicely updated hotel. Breakfast had a good variety and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Pool area was clean and nice that it was indoors too. The afternoon snack was a nice treat for the kids!
We experienced a few problems at this motel and when I mentioned it at checkout (I was not asked how my stay was. I had to bring it up) I was treated as if it did not matter & I was just being picky. Best Western (or at least this location) does not care about customer satisfaction
I have been staying at the Beacon Inn since the 80's. It is my go to place when I visit Grand Haven. I have to say this time, i was disappointed. The staff is friendly, and the woman at the front desk was nice enough to give us a check in at 3 instead of 4pm. The floor in our room was still wet when we got to, although we were told it was ready. There was black long hair on the wet spots. I called the front desk and she apologized to em. Then another woman came and wiped it up with a towel. I apologized several times as I don't feel like I am a fuzzy person, but hair to me is gross. The carpet did not look vacuumed, the door knob to the bathroom was so loose it looked it was going to fall off and there was more black long hair on the wall by the tub. I don't think the Beacon will be my "go to" any longer. I don't know if they are short help or not, but I felt the room was below a standard of what we paid a night to stay there.
Spent a few nights at the Beacon in early in July. The staff was friendly, the building well maintained and clean, and aside from a crowded breakfast area there was nothing wrong. We had a handicapped accessible room, and it lived up to its billing. However, if you are not in a wheelchair you're willing to get wet the shower is unuseable - there's no seat. Otherwise there was plenty of room. The traffic on the highway its on was another matter. Simply getting onto US31, going down the road, turning around, and getting back was a challenge, and generally took at least 15 minutes. As I noted, there really was nothing wrong, but for some reason I didn't get a "I love this place" feeling.
Well kept hotel, clean, friendly, well located in proximity to beach, shopping, etc. Reasonably priced. Have stayed here before and will do so in the future. Well located between Muskegon and Holland, short drive north or south.
This place sits back from US 31 so it's easy to overlook. Every-thing is updated and clean. You will be about a mile from the beach/town center. Good value compared to the prices you pay at other hotels that allow you to be close to the lake during high season.
We ended up in the exterior building which I worried wouldn't be as nice as the rooms in the main building but it was fine. The room was clean and a nice size for the four of us. The beds and bedding were modern and comfortable. Our room opened up into a grassy courtyard (great area for kids to play) just steps from an outdoor lounge area and entrance to the indoor pool. The staff were very nice and the free breakfast was pretty good (waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, cereal, etc.). We came during the big Soccer in the Sand tournament in Grand Haven so the room was pretty expensive (as we expected). The best part was that the hotel location allowed you to escape all the crazy Soccer in the Sand traffic to the beach. We went the back route with no traffic problems whatsoever! We parked in City lot (not main lot since you can't turn left into that lot during the event).
This hotel was perfect for a quick last-minute getaway for my husband and I. Super close to the beach and restaurants. It was very easy to find and extremely affordable. The beds were comfy and the breakfast was very very good!
This hotel is in a nice location and has very friendly staff, very spacious rooms, comfortable beds and a nice pool. We come during a busy summer weekend for sand soccer and they have been able to accommodate us well. We have stayed here in the past and will stay here again.
Only one issue with my room; the HVAC system did not seem to maintain an even temperature. When I set the HVAC system to 'Cool' and 'Low' something began to squeak at regular intervals for extended periods and interrupted my sleep.
I would not recommend this place unless you are used to staying in cheap motels, and $200 a night is not cheap. There is 3 buildings, the back one is horrible, which is where we were, and isn't in any pics. The "remodel" that has been done is extremely cheap and poor quality. Out towel bar fell off the wall when we touched it. The grout in the tile is all broken and falling apart. The toilet barely flushed. We definitely would have left but we were with a larger group of people and we could not get accommodations elsewhere. I wish I could say maybe it was just our room, but the other rooms of our group had issues as well. It's back behind a car lot and has a feel of being in a back alley! I would not recommend this hotel.
Both beds were very wrinkled and dirty as if the sheets had not been changed since the last guest. One even had crumbs or sand on the sheet.. It was 11:00 pm, we were in our bed clothes when we discovered the situation so we did not bother to complain to management.
Sheets were dirty with large crusty stain on it. Lots of dead bugs by the air conditioner which blew onto the bed when you turned it on. Stood in a foot of water while taking a shower because it wouldn't drain. We pd $200 for the night and expected something way nicer then what we got. Not sure how this hotel received any great reviews. We were given an exterior room which looked like a run down motel 6 that they threw some paint on. There were 3 families in total and all our rooms were terrible.
Spent a Saturday night at the hotel and really enjoyed every minute. Check In was great. Room (305) was a double queen with refrigerator in room facing the courtyard. The beds were perfect with a good selection of pillows. Sheets were crisp and clean. Beds were made well and with care. Bathroom was spotless, very nice shower!!!! Pool was warm and refreshing. 5ft deep and large area for kids. chlorine levels were light and the pool was spotless. Quite happy with breakfest as it had a good variety of food and well presented. We will be back!!
We arrived several hours early for an out of town wedding, and were pleasantly surprised that our room was ready for us to drop our gear into before heading to the event. The front desk attendant was pleasant and friendly, and did all she could to accommodate our early check-in. We appreciated that a lot. Our king suite was clean, comfy, and conveniently located on the main drag.
A bit pricey but we stayed during the peak summer time when all hotel rates go up in Grand Haven. The front desk representative took time to find my reward number so I could receive the 10 percent discount. Great breakfast but you need to take advantage of it before 10:00 am; coffee is available after 10:00 am. Nice, clean room with comfortable bed and drapes that completely block out the light.
We traveled here with our son's travel baseball team and were extremely pleased with the level and quality of the service we received. The hotel is very clean and comfortable with current décor and a beautiful courtyard. The value was very accommodating for entire group.
Great place to stay, it is always clean and I never a problem when I stay there. The night before I checked out I paid using Best Western Gift Cards and the staff member on duty at the time had never done. She called someone who talked her through how to process the cards and apply them against my account. I wish I had thought to write down her name to give my special thanks to her and to the person that she called.
We were extremely pleased with our stay at this hotel. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean. The staff was very nice and my only request was immediately handled. The pool and hot tub are clean. The location is excellent, especially if you plan on biking. It's an easy two mile ride downtown and on the correct side of a busy street. Close to a Meijer, close to a laundromat, close to everything. We were initially surprised to be in a separate building from the lobby but it worked out to be better with our bikes anyhow. Best of all, the free breakfast was among the best I've had at a hotel. It was a great value and we hope to return next year.
Very pleased with our stay, the staff was helpful when we needed directions and was courteous. The hotel was clean as were the rooms would recommend staying here. Very adequate breakfast. Completely enjoyed our stay.
All staff went over & above their jobs to make sure everything was great for our stay...beautifully decorated, great towels, comfortable mattress, pool was great, breakfast was wonderful! We will DEFINiTLY stay there again on our next trip to beautiful Grand Haven.
Went to Grand Haven for Memorial Day at the Best Western Beacon Inn. The hotel was clean. The rooms were excellent, clean and had comfortable beds. The staff was friendly. The indoor pool was excellent. The food at breakfast time was also very good. The hotel is close to restaurants, and a Meijer. There is a good sized refrigerator and even a microwave in the room. I would definitely stay here again, and would highly recommend this hotel.
Hotel are clean and very comfortable and I high recommended in base my experienced. Maybe the only thing I do not like it was upstairs bathroom noise every times somebodies use it especially in the middle of the night.
It was a nice hotel. Very good location, just a short drive to Grand Haven Beach. We will come back given the chance to spend another weekend vacation to Michigan. It's also close to other shops and restaurants.
At $100/night it was low price for Grand Haven during Memorial Day weekend and the place is top quality. Totally redone latest door lock, bath fixtures, carpet, TV, frig, microwave, etc. Pool & whirlpool are in great shape and very importantly the staff was very friendly and helpful. Great view out the window of green open space area.
This section should be optional. My stay at B W was very nice. I was in the city attending my brother's funeral. The problem free experience at Best Western is appreciated. I will use Best Western for future travel plans.
My work booked me here for 3 nights and it was nice. The hotel has been recently renovated and updated. The staff was friendly and helpful. Complimentary breakfast was adequate. I liked the different flavored waters available each day in the lobby. My room was clean.
Hotel was clean and orderly, breakfast was good fresh and they made sure breakfast bar was full at all times. Loved the hotel decor and the staff were great. Pool area was clean and towels were available in the pool room. I will always stay at a best western because of this great experience! Totally worth the extra couple bucks to stay here.
The Best Western Beacon is a great older motel. It is clean and comfortable and a complete breakfast. The room was very spacious, the small frig had a freezer and the bed and pillows comfortable. You can choose a room in the main building with several floors or a garden room where you can park outside your door and have a patio on the other side looking out at the green space. I really liked this motel.
I love it. I stayed at Marriot Albuq, and B/W was cleaner (carpet) and newer. If you would have woken up in either room without looking outside, you would pick the B/W as the Marriot. Because it was cleaner. B/W in Durango Co. is my favorite hotel ever. I've been around the world too. The one by the Silverton Railway station. Perfect.
My sweet granddaughter and I stayed at the Beacon for two nights. We were part of a bus tour group from PA. This mini-vacation was a special time for us that will forever be treasured. Our room was located on the third floor. Accolades to housekeeping for their immaculate care of our room and the hotel in general. I must share a tender story...my granddaughter likes to sleep in a "mound" or "nest" of interwoven sheets and blankets. She works hard to make this little nest of hers just perfect. Without my knowledge, she left a note on her bed for housekeeping to, "Leave this bed the way it is please." and they obliged! She was so tickled! The breakfast provided was more than adequate. Bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, batter to make your own waffles, yogurt, cereals, pastries, fruit, juice, coffee, etc. Very nice setup. There is an inviting indoor pool, but we didn't have time to take a swim. My only grumble was no ATM was available at the hotel. The young man at the desk stated they had one, but it was removed during renovation. It was planned to be reinstalled in the near future. There was a bank a short distance away that he thought might have an ATM. This was a bit inconvenient, but no biggie. Renovations take time to complete. If we're ever back this way, we'll surely stay at the Beacon Inn!
I stayed there for four days. The room was immaculate, the staff was very accommodating, and the Inn was centrally located. The challenge during my visit was that the lobby was going through renovations. Half the time the lobby was inaccessible, we had to enter through a side door that was left unlocked most all night. The Beacon Inn had breakfast every day in a room instead of the renovating lobby. The employee told us that she couldn't wait for the real breakfast to come back to the lobby. She told us there was more to the offerings When it is in the lobby. I value her honesty, but it made us feel a little cheated. I'm sure once this Hotel is firing on all cylinders, it will deserve a 5 star, and I'm looking forward to visiting it again to check it out...
The room was clean and neat, we also found the breakfast provided by the Inn to have a number of tasty dishes neatly presented by two hard working employees. The Inn was very convenient to Holland and the Tulip Festival, but we also enjoyed shopping the stores in Grand Haven.
Cleanest room I have ever stayed at. Kudos to the house keeping.. they deserve recognition for how clean the rooms and lobby were. Seriously not one speck of dirt or anything could I find. Bathroom was impeccable clean. Thank you!
The hotel is finishing up a renovation which is nice. We were a little disappointed to be put in a different building on the second floor with no elevator since we were traveling with a lot of stuff. We were told there were no other options even though we were checking in at 3pm... The breakfast was alright but a little chaotic. The hotel was close to town and Grand Haven is a beautiful place to explore. We loved the fountain show!
Good rooms for the price. Its clean and have good service. Not a great looking hotel but definitely have basic touch to it with clean rooms and bathrooms. its affordable and average room price depending on the days you stay.
We took a quick weekend getaway trip, (my husband and I). Construction on the hotel was over and the lobby and breakfast area looks great! Our room looked great and modern. Everyone at the front desk area was very friendly. Hotel is located in a good area, easy to find. Great variety of breakfast foods, seating was still tight even for as big a room as it was, but everyone found a seat. My only "complaint" if you will was that our room faced the front of the hotel, and we could hear alot of traffic AND no joke, the walls are very thin, the kids next door (being kids), were pretty loud with slamming doors and had very loud voices of excitement. It was getting kind of late, too, parents, tell your kids that other people can hear you out in the halls and other rooms!!!
This was the second stay this year at the Beacon Inn. It remains a beacon of excellence in a very pretty area of Michigan. I have a client in a nearby town and the proximity of the motel and the services offer make things very easy and pleasant for travel. The staff has handled the construction for the last few months in a friendly manner. Rooms are spacious and breakfast is awesome! Over the years, it has been both business and family friendly. The motel is perfect for enhancing the smiles that Lake Michigan brings.
Motel is undergoing renovations , the rooms look amazing and the hotel lobby was ungoing work Unfortunately the room smelled of cigarette smoke and the motel was sold out. No other rooms available. After we got home the next day we had to wash and spray down all of our belongings. The rooms do not offer much sound damping between them, out room placement was next to a family that almost appeared to be living in the motel. They had coolers, grills and large dogs around the room At times upto eight people could be seen inside the room and it was as very noisy even past quiet hours. We had to sleep with headphones in just to drowned out the noise.
Great hotel for the price very clean and up to date very satisfied I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in grand haven. I especially enjoyed the hot tub in the room. The pool was nice to have access to from outside and the new renovations are looking great. It was nice to see that the messes were kept to a minimum during construction.
On-site construction worker stayed the night at the hotel. His dog was allowed in the room and it was barking. He also left tv on all night! Hotel construction wasn't disclosed at time of booking. I regret staying here.
Worth the money. Clean. No bugs. Would stay again. the tub was very spacious. Jets were really cool. Good for couples trying to get away but also being cheaper about it. Right by the beach. Lovely area.
From being given keys to a non-smoking room that reeked in a lobby destroyed by construction to the paper thin walls allowing the neighboring rooms blaring tv to be heard the entire night to morning, a really lousy breakfast in a dark makeshift guest room, this stay truly sucked. The 2nd room at least was not cig polluted, was clean, and the staff pleasant. But, I would very certainly not return. If staying with a spouse, understand that any sound you make will be the neighbors to experience. Leave romance at home, unless sharing is your thing.
Great location and service. Would stay there again on my next visit. Good food in the area and things to do hotel had a nice pool and work out facility. Staff was very nice and convenient parking for sure
Very awesome place. They are still remodeling and it will be beautiful once again. Rooms are very clean and quite. Staff is beyond great, and priced just right. Enjoy your stay. We have been coming here for several years and have never been disappointed.
Enjoyed this hotel in the past, however I was really disappointed that we were not made aware of the construction (total construction ) going on in lobby. There was drywall dust all over of the building
I absolutely love this place! The staff is amazing.. I will be going back.. it's a great place just to relax with your family.. my kids love the swimming pool, and my husband and I love the hot tub.. I highly recommend this hotel..
The staff at this hotel are very friendly! The breakfast offers a good variety of hot and cold food. We didn't swim in the pool but it looked larger than a lot of hotel pools I have seen before. We were there in the off season so the hotel was not very busy. The room was clean and spacious, we were in a regular King room and it came with a sofa and living room area as well as the bed which was nice. It has the biggest mini fridge I have seen and a microwave! Great rooms and good prices.
will be staying at best western again and will recommend it to friends and family for future reference should they need to stay at a hotel, I am glad we decided to stay at best western, very good even with a late check in time
We've stayed at this hotel several times when visiting relatives in Grand Haven. I just wanted to note that they've upgraded the breakfast offerings and now have a couple of hot items prepared, such as eggs and sausage. I dropped an earring down the sink and they immediately sent someone to open the trap and get it out. I thought that was great service.
Excellent hotel, a quiet room, the breakfast is great with a variety of selections, and a pleasant eating area. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Did not have time to used the beautiful pool. We have stayed here several times and will continue to used this hotel when we are in town.
Very pleased - helpful and friendly staff, very clean and nice room, breakfast was real good. Can't think of one negative and would highly recommend. I hope to visit again! They pay attention to detail here. Easy to check in and out.
The staff was helpful and the motel is clean. Had pool rented out to 2 parties the evening we stayed so packed with kids and our room was disconnected from lobby/fitness area and pool so was not the best because of rain.
Many great amenities, including pool, fitness room, breakfast, frig & microwave in room. However, it was somewhat inconvenient that this hotel is divided into several (at least 4) separate buildings, so we had to walk outside quite a long way to get from our hotel room in one building to the lobby, pool, and breakfast area, which was in another building some distance away. Otherwise, a very good lodging experience--clean & well-kept premises & staff quite friendly, helpful.
When did BW change? Regardless of when, we stayed at two recently, Marinette, WI and Grand Haven, MI and both were well done. Terrific staff, good rooms. I haven't stayed at a BW in ages but they keep coming up on TripAdvisor as highly rated; the rating is correct.
Beacon Inn exactly as advertised. Excellent facility. Room was very clean, had all necessary amenities.Staff was very friendly and helpful. Easy check in and out. Breakfast was adequate. Would stay here again.
A last minute trip to Michigan and we chose to stay at this Best Western because we stayed here recently. We had a nice room which was a great value. The staff was terrific and remembered us from our last visit. We will stay here again!
We have stayed here twice this year!! Very nice rooms, clean and comfortable!! The hotel staff is very welcoming and accommodating. The pool area of very nice. We will be going back next spring for sure!!
Hotel was nice and clean. The staff was super friendly. The housekeeping staff were all smiles and attentive. I would recommend this hotel. And there is a Pokémon Gym right on their property, guaranteed to keep the kids busy. Hahaha
Made reservation online so check in was super easy and pleasant. Room was super spacious and clean. Had a patio door looking into the court yard with light above both front and rear doors. There were chairs to sit on in the courtyard too. The bathroom was clean and the sink and mirror were separate like most hotels are. Room had a mini fridge and microwave along with single cup coffee maker, table, chairs and plenty of light. Hotel offers free wifi and restaurants like McDonalds are right next to the hotel. WalMart and Meijer are a short drive as well as shopping if you head south. The evening staff was super friendly. Beds were comfortable. I rated very good ONLY because in the morning at 6 a.m. I went to the breakfast area before getting on the road for my travels. As I was the only person besides one man sitting and eating Tomme (she is a worker #1) and someone who I figure she was training in (lady #2) Lady #1 while I had started putting egg and sausage patties on my plate to make a sandwich decided that was the perfect time for her to drop toast in the toaster because she was hungry and so worker #2 followed suit. No mention of a oh sorry or do you mind nothing so I stood there waiting for the workers toast to pop up while my eggs and sausage got cold because they decided it was far more important for them to eat on the clock rather than allow their guests to go ahead of them. I have to say Tomme was less than impressive and I was not at all happy with her unprofessional behavior. Feel sorry for lady #2 that was being trained in to think that she deserves to be fed on the clock and that guests who stay there should have to stand back and wait.
We made reservations to stay here when we went to Art Prize in nearby Grand Rapids because we wanted to be able to escape the crowds when we were done for the day. An easy 30 minute drive from Grand Rapids, this stay was perfect. The facility was recently refurbished and I was pleased with what was done. We booked a room with one king bed and a sofa. It was roomy and comfortable with new carpet, a refrigerator and all the little extras one could hope for. The extras that many other motels are missing are tables on both sides of the bed, good lighting in the dressing area as well as a mirror and good lighting elsewhere, so two people can actually dress at the same time. One thing I dislike about some motels is that the beds are not adequately clean. The beds here have double sheets and I felt like I was really in a clean room. The entire room was inviting.. The staff were welcoming and organized. I never go swimming in hotel pools but was sorry that I didn't bring a bathing suit because the pool was large with a very nice looking Jacuzzi. Even breakfast was good! There was ample staff and they were busy refreshing the food and cleaning the breakfast area whenever anyone left. When we made reservations we requested a quiet room. We were given a room on the third floor of the main building. There are elevators and the room was very quiet. If you have never been to Grand Haven it is a lovely picturesque resort town right by Lake Michigan with plenty of non chain shops and restaurants (many restaurants are closed on Sunday but we were still able to find a few choices.) The beach area is large and active. Even in late September we were able watch the surfers hit the waters with waves crashing on the beach. Fun to see!
Great hotel, the room was spacious and clean , The bed was very comfortable. Inn Close to downtown area. Pool inside and open year round. Breakfast menu included a variety of items from cold cereal to waffles - eggs and bacon
We stayed in one of the jacuzzi suites while shopping for a boat for 1 night, it was clean and comfortable. The jacuzzi and room were very clean and fresh feeling. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The free breakfast was tasty. All in all, its a nice place to stay nothing extravagant but you won't be disappointed. Recommended.
Very clean and well maintained. Pleasant staff with helpful advise. Great value for the cost. I wish that we had brought our swim suits as the pool was quite large and we needed the whirlpool after visiting Art Prize in Grand Rapids.
This motel had large, clean, new-looking rooms. The toilet and shower were in a separate room from the sink, and there was no door to the sink area. The toilet was a new, eco-friendly one that was very loud. Beds were comfy, and we had everything we needed. The breakfast was disappointing--eggs and sausage were cold and oatmeal was gummy. The personnel in the motel were very nice and went above and beyond for us. We asked for a late checkout so we could shower after a leisurely morning bike ride. They readily gave us until 1pm. When they had to turn the water off in the building, due to a leak, before my husband could shower, they gave him the key to a room in their other building, and were very apologetic for having to inconvenience us. I would definitely stay here the next time I am in the area.
The Grand Haven Best Western Inn was aged, but mellow. The staff, food and service was top rate. Our group had a small number of individual requests that were all handled promptly and gracefully. Several of our group raved about the breakfast. We also liked the outdoor chairs and tables, and the nearness of community events. The entire trip was a nice Lake Michigan visit add-on to our trditional Art Prize visit in Grand Rapids.
This hotel is less than a mile away from North Ottawa Hospital and not far from downtown or any scenic drives. The hotel is clean and rooms are up to date. Tv's were nice flat screen. Beds were clean and comfortable. Bathroom was nice and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. There's a nice pool and hot tub. There 3 seperate building you can stay in. Nice place
We checked in late on a weeknight. The front desk staff was very friendly and offered us appropriate discounts. Our room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was good and fresh. Check out staff was friendly also. We didn't swim but did notice that the pool was VERY cloudy. I had also read this in a review. Having a pool myself, I know that this could be remedied with a little work, and so we wondered why they don't clean it up. Otherwise, we were very happy with out stay and would stay there again.
We booked the Best Western based on the Trip Advisor reviews. It was pretty much as advertised - clean - comfortable - and a good location. I would suggest asking for a room away from the street - it was quieter. The lady that checked us in was very nice, and helpful as well. Comfortable room and a nice breakfast room.
We took a three-day trip to visit Grand Haven and Muskegon. Glad we stayed at the Best Western Beacon hotel. Our room was very clean. The shower was great--good pressure with choice of adjustments. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Nice, hot breakfast. Courteous, helpful staff. They gave us suggestions for sites to see, events, restaurants, etc. Would definitely come back again.
Excellent place for several reasons! The room and bathroom were immaculate. Room 307. Sheets crisp and clean. 4 pillows on Queen beds. Comfortable beds. Larger size room. Very quiet. Carpets clean. Pool was very clean. Warm. And plenty of room to swim. Hot tub also clean seats 9. Pool floor clean as a whistle. Non slippery tile. Easy to get in and out of pool. Plenty of pool towels. Hours were very user friendly. Breakfast was great. Hot and cold choices. More than plenty to eat. Very clean here too. Very friendly staff. Tammy who checked us in couldn't have been nicer even showing us our room before we registered. Kendra who worked the morning desk had such a cheery personality and very service oriented. She had great suggestions for what to see and do, taking time to even google things for us for times and to give us a map. Very reasonable pricing. I don't often take the time to review but such a great place with good staff is not always common now a days and really needs to be commended. Good job!! Would highly recommend to stay here. Grand Haven is a great town. Beach and Lake Michigan is beautiful.
the hotel is located right on the busy us31 that sometimes creates a problem to get out or in. the hotel seemed clean but the service is so-so. a couple of times the housekeeping did not care to make up the beds... the breakfast is also marginal. $175 for a double felt like overpaying.
Our room was very clean and nice. We stayed in the building away from the main building and could park our car right outside our door which made things very convenient. The room looked like it had been recently updated and was very clean. Breakfast is very average in what can be a very tight room. The biggest disappointment of the trip was the cloudy green pool. While I am sure it is safe, swimming in what could be swamp water isn't very appealing. I know my kids were disappointed. Staff were all very nice.
My family and I were in town for a family reunion. The hotel was great. It was comfortable and conveniently located to the beach. The breakfast was great especially since we had kids with us. The courtyard was also a nice touch for the kids and they could go outside and play a little. I would definitely come again if in town.
I stayed in one of the back buildings, with a door facing the outside in a building that was separate from the pool/front desk/breakfast area. While it was obvious that this was a remodeled room it was perfect for what my friend and I were looking for. Nothing fancy AT ALL, but clean everywhere from the beds to the floors to the shower, it was immaculate. I was located in one of the two story buildings and we could hear the footsteps of the guests above us quite regularly. If you are looking for a no frills hotel that is easily accessible to the downtown area I would recommend this Best Western.
My daughter and I stayed here to experience a day in Grand Haven. Our room was in the adjacent 2 story building, not the main building. I do not recommend this annex building for the elderly or handicapped unless they stay on the ground floor because there is is no elevator (only external stairs) to get to the 2nd floor. The hotel room was EXTREMELY clean, I was impressed! The TV remote control was sanitized and placed in a pouch. Quality toiletries (soap, shampoo, etc,) were available and enough towels for both of us. The only thing was that the pillows were a bit uncomfortable for both my daughter and I (pillows were too firm, not soft enough). Maybe this is something that a traveler can bring up at the front desk, but we didn't. The hotel was close to downtown, but not close enough to walk, We had a vehicle, so the location was great. We were able to drive to downtown in a few minutes. We were able to park in a free public lot and go to the sidewalk sales that were being held that weekend on Washington St. Lots of great shops and restaurants.
Our stay was fine; no real issues. I thought the room was clean and so was our Jacuzzi tub. We stayed in one of the single-story buildings facing the courtyard, and they have a couple of chairs outside the patio to sit in if you like. Breakfast was pretty good; like many other hotels, This was a little unique as they had make-your-own breakfast sandwiches (but I couldn't find cheese), and make-your own oatmeal and yogurt parfaits, too. Probably my biggest issue was the pool; it was a bit murky and you could see visible dirt in the bottom. I didn't see anyone in it during our stay. We didn't use the workout room. Service was efficient at check-in and check-out. Price was high ($199 a night) though the Jacuzzi cost us more and it was still summer season in the area. The location is nice as it's just a mile and a half from Lake Michigan.
Something about all the rooms having exterior doors does not feel right to me. Kind of cheap feelings. I had no major troubles, but just did not feel like it was that nice of a place. I had several spiders show up on the bedding, that kind of made me check through out the night. I think the air conditioner had a filter hole in it or something.
Housekeeping and attractiveness of room way below expectation. Breakfast lacking. Night desk clerk very helpful. High cost for quality. The location was very good and it was quiet. We will not stay there again.
Another trip with the grandkids. Hotel was pristine. Room was immaculate. Linens were crisp and fresh. Staff was friendly, courteous, helpful and fun. Free continental breakfast was amazing: make your own waffles, cereal, eggs, biscuits, sweets, fresh fruit and best of all, wonderful coffee. The pool and spa were exceptionally clean. Wonderful little jewel.
We have stayed at this hotel for the past eight years while visiting Grand Haven. The rooms are large in the courtyard area. New carpet.in the rooms. The breakfast space is small and you may need to plan ahead to avoid the crowd, if that is possible as there are about 100 rooms in the hotel. We will stay here next time we are in Grand Haven as it meets our needs,
Stayed for 4 nights - good and bad. Take it for what its worth. 1st night we climbed into bed and discovered sheets were stained and unchanged from last visitor. (No way I would believe they made a bed with clean sheets, with stains of that size - disgusting!). Front desk was responsive and offered to change rooms or sheets. We opted to have sheets changed but no more "clean room vibe" - again, gross. The 2nd day we returned at 4pm, no housekeeping yet. She said she's finished at 4:30 so if we wanted housekeeping its now or never. (Fine, we left again). 3rd night, gone from 11am - 5pm. No housekeeping at all. Called front desk and Houskeeping noted our room had "Do Not Disturb" - True, until 11am. and no, we didn't forget to remove the sign when we left for the day. Front desk gave us towels and wrote a note to housekeeping. While I appreciate that, we hate to feel like we're asking for something special. The front desk shouldn't have to write a note to anyone. 4th night. Yay, housekeeping finally. (The note worked?) A couple of other misses: Pool is in need of a serious chemical "shocking" and someone who knows how to maintain a pool properly. Water was merky, cloudy, dirty, disgusting looking. More than a few people commented that it was "greenish". Breakfast was blah-ok. They served funny super-flat "egg discs" everyday and alternated between sausage patties in a pool of grease and sausage gravy. Waffles were do it yourself. (Warning: Do not trust the large Waffle Iron to stay upright as you pry the waffle out of the griddle. The top fell down and skimmed my Sons hand leaving a burn mark. I witnessed others narrowly escape the Iron slamming down on their hand). On the positive side, our room appeared brand new - which is why we opted to have sheets changed the 1st night instead of moving to another room. Other breakfast items were good. Coffee, Bagels, Muffins, yogurt. The staff in general were always helpful and quick to resolve housekeeping issues the best they could under the circumstances. All in all, I left feeling we paid too much for too little. Obviously would have had a more pleasant stay if it weren't for the housekeeping hassles or the waffle burn on my sons hand. And I still can't get over the gross bed sheets the 1st night. In summary, I'd probably look elsewhere before staying here again. I wouldn't rule out another stay, but definitely wouldn't be my first choice - Especially not on a busy Saturday or Sunday. Cheers fellow travelers.
We stayed at this hotel overnight on our way up north. The hotel has 3 buildings, one which looks to be newer build and 2 older buildings. We stayed on the older 2 story building. Upon arrival, the building looked old but we were pleasantly surprised upon entering the room house nice it was. It appeared to be remodeled and was super clean. My wife and I are very particular when staying at a hotel and this one was fantastic! Conveniently located right off US-31 and minutes away to the waterfront and downtown area. The only complaint I would have is the breakfast advertised. The eggs were pretty good but no sausage to accompany it with. The Gravy for the biscuits was cold. This limited our choices but other than that, fruits, muffins and Danish are available as well. Would we stay here again, no question, it's a nice place to stay.
My wife and I stayed here for two days. The motel is a bit unusual in that it has a main building and several satellite buildings. We stayed in a building behind the Macdonald's restaurant. The room had obviously been remodeled and everything was nice and clean. Two of the buildings have patio doors that face a central courtyard, but the courtyard is merely a grassy area--nothing to see. This could be developed into something worthwhile. No complaints about our stay. The breakfast was typical of what you get in midrange motels.
Our stay at the Best Western Beacon Inn was pleasant. Our room was clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly. There was a microwave and refrigerator in our room. The price is in line with other hotels in the area. The location is close to local attractions, 1.5 miles to the GH pier. The kids enjoyed the indoor pool. There was an outlet in our room that didn't work at all, minor issue. The breakfast room is far too small, as is the serving equipment for the hot food dishes. The staff person was very, very busy trying to keep things filled and navigate around the patrons. Food available was waffles, cereal, muffins, oatmeal, eggs, yogurt, bagels, bananas, apples, etc.
Wonderful staff. CLEAN rooms. Good breakfast. Pool. Wi-Fi. only minutes (by car) to the beach. Will be staying here when we return to GH! Only wish they offered Government employee discounts :( Still worth it for the experience.
This is an absolutely wonderful hotel. We booked it for our honeymoon over July 4th weekend and had a great time. The hotel is pretty centrally located- a very short drive to the shops and beach. We stayed in an outside access king room with a whirlpool tub, and were impressed the moment we stepped foot in the room. It was extremely clean, with a large supply of fresh towels and some coffee. The entire layout of the room was thoughtful, and allowed us to enjoy breakfast and coffee in the room after we went for the hot breakfast bar near the lobby. The room was very spacious with lots of lighting to adjust how we liked it. The air conditioners kept everything the perfect temperature, and were some of the quietest I've ever heard in a hotel room. The bed was very comfortable and left us feeling rested and ready to enjoy the beach. It was also really nice being able to park right in front of our door! We also really appreciated the service we received during our stay. Our room was promptly cleaned and received fresh towels every day. The kind ladies who worked room service left us congratulatory notes after seeing my dress hung up in the open closet. The front desk was also very helpful in giving us tips on where to go for the fireworks. We booked pretty far in advance and got a great deal on our room, especially when the locals told us we were lucky to even find a room that weekend, much less at such an unbelievably affordable rate. We sat beside a family who paid almost $2000 for 4 nights, while we paid less than $800. Overall, it was a great stay that made us feel comfortable and relaxed while we enjoyed the week. I highly recommend Best Western Beacon Inn!
Close enough to enjoy Grand Haven, Mi and far enough to rest peacefully. Need to get used to the 'U' turns to get to the hotel. 1.5 miles from the beach. Learn the side streets, it will help you during peak times.
Average Best Western. Way too expensive. Air conditioner fan is way too noisy. Could not use points because this hotel requires too many points to earn a free night, even though BW says we have earned a free night.
This is the first Best Western I stayed at in years. When I pulled up to the building our rooms were in, I was a little worried - the outside looked decidedly more dated than the main building pictured everywhere. But the rooms were a pleasant surprise. They appear to have been newly remodeled and feature fresh paint, modern furniture and fresh carpet. Beds are very comfortable. There are a few details that could be improved (the screen doors don't appear to have been refreshed and were torn or difficult to open, the tracks for the patio door were filthy), but overall, the rooms were quite nice. WiFi is free and wicked fast. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast room is tiny, but the guests were considerate and didn't linger, so we found a table both mornings. Overall, this hotel comes highly recommended. With a little extra attention to detail, this place would be excellent.
This is a great hotel/motel There is a hotel and a group of motel type rooms. Don't let that scare you! We got the last room for the night in the motel part and I was nervous, but it was one of the cleanest places I have stayed! The motel part was quite and totally remolded. Great beds! If you have kids you would want to stay in the hotel part so you did not have to go outside to get to the pool. We did not get up early enough to enjoy the free breakfast, but the area was clean and nice looking. Pool and hot tub look good too. The staff was friendly and helpful, directed us to the best place for breakfast. Very close to town and the State park, which has a wonderful beach!
Excellent Service!!!! The staff is very friendly and the rooms are very clean. Very close to downtown Grand Haven. My kids love the pool area and to even stay in the courtyard is nice. Stay here every year if I can
We spent two nights here and enjoyed our time. The only negative was the size of the breakfast area (not enough seats and room to move), but that was a minor inconvenience. The pool area was clean and spacious. I also liked that there was an outdoor patio with lounge chairs.
My daughter and I stayed 2 nights. The rooms was Clean. Quiet. Great Breakfast. Mostly though, the Receptionist/Sales Clerks were Wonderful. I highly recommend staying. The Receptionist "Tommie", she was very kind and positive. We will definitely stay here when we come back.
Check in was available before 4 PM and with three boys this was a plus. Having a FULL breakfast included and a pool were why I chose this location. Great location near all popular eatery's and within walking distance from hotel. Easy out onto highway 31 go around the corner and drive to Grand Haven. Easy return from beach with no left hand turns. Close to Meijers and Walmart and Tim Hortons
Let me start by saying that this hotel was spotless. The room was super clean and you can tell housekeeping pays close attention to detail. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They have a great breakfast with a nice variety to choose from. They even had go-gurts for my kids! This will be our hotel we stay in every time we come to Grand Haven. Thank you for your great hospitality!
We had a very good experience. Helpful staff, everything worked, felt clean. Good location- a very short drive to the beach. The indoor pool was nice. We had an excellent internet connection the whole time.
We booked two nights which ended up costing us more the $250 per night. When we got to the hotel we were put in a room in an out building which was a one story old building. The room had only a patio door and no windows. We think that we would have had better accommodations in the 4 story central building which was much more modern looking. For the price we expected accommodations that we could have rated 5 instead of 2.
Very clean, very nice and helpful staff. Breakfast was tasty. Great price for summer weekend last minute reservation. Room was efficient but comfortable. Refrigerator was useful to have. Shower area was a bit small but very clean. We stayed during the same weekend as a travelling baseball league visit, and all guests were considerate of one another. Fun but not unruly! Good for family stay.
Very high priced, even if it was a desirable time of year. Hotel was clean but had no comfortable chairs, not one picture on a well - very drab and no way to sit and enjoy tv unless you and your guests want to sit on the bed. Think we certainly could have done better.
Spent several days at the hotel for a family vacation. Would stay here again. Staff very friendly and although hotel not on waterfront, could still drive there easily. Only thing didn't really like was water in indoor pool as it was cloudy. I didn't swim but daughter did and she said it felt dirty. All and all happy with stay
Hotel is super clean, fairly updated with easy access to lots of attractions and the beach. Staff has been great. Highly recommend. I do however find it a bit over priced. The indoor pool area and hot tub is very clean. We did not partake in the breakfast so I can't answer for that.
Tired from driving up north, we decided to stay the night in Grand Haven. With no reservations during a peak summer season weekend, we weren't sure what type of accommodations we'd find. To our delight, we were able to get a king room in the main building with handicapped features that made our stay easier. They also have a series of motel style buildings behind the main one with a courtyard separating them. The staff was friendly. Although we didn't use it, the pool and hot tub looked inviting and not overly crowded. Free breakfast buffet was adequate but not a reason to book there. It was well attended however.
We stayed in the "motel-like" building that had fresh, new decor, very nice beds and roll-in shower, at my request. Pool and hot tub have disability lifts as a huge bonus. The entire property is nicely updated, clean and well-maintained. The staff was warm, friendly and extremely helpful! Some 5 star hotels could learn a thing or two from these folks!
We were here for a baseball tournament. The layout of the rooms worked out great for us. The boys could play in the courtyard. We grilled and hung out in between games. The area outside the pool was nice to lounge around while the kids swam. The free breakfast was good. The kids always love the waffles and they had two griddles so less wait time
I am coming here irregularly for business. Everything was good, as usual. Room: This time I have ended up in room 311. The newly secured WiFi did not work (anywhere in the hotel) on the first night but got fixed before I woke up. To my surprise, the room had newer carpets than just a few months ago. All room equipment in a good condition, as usual. I had not used the room much - spent most of the day and evening out. Simply, it was in a clean and good condition, no problems with smell or anything else. This time I had not used the pool due to time constrains and found out I lost my swimming shorts on the last day. I have used the the Sun Deck for the first time which was convenient to relax at. The staff has changed during the past few years but I've still seen a few known faces on this visit. Complimentary Breakfast: Don't expect continental breakfast with tens of choices. You'd get: fruit (banana, apple, mandarin), bakery products (sweet and plain bagels, toast bread, muffins, cinnamon twirls), some musli (and Fruit Loops), butter, jam, boiled egg, yogurt, milk, drinks (tea, coffee, apple&orange juice). You can make your own bagel/toast with egg and bacon/meat and make your own waffle. As the paper plates and plastic cutlery are still very popular in the US, you will get those. It is convenient if you want to have something in the morning without going to any fast food chains or the need of making your own. Location: Food courts are just outside and superstores (Meier and Walmart) within walking distance or 1 minute drive. Distance from the downtown is around 35 minutes walk (7 minutes drive). Beach & Lighthouse pier is around 40 minutes slow walk away. Timing: Most of the "American tourists" (whole families with kids, friends and other families) come for the weekend (outside summer season) and the rest of the week becomes quiet. I would recommend timing your stay during the week days if you would like to enjoy the pool and jacuzzi/whirpool. In the summer season, it also gets a quieter during the week but not as much as outside holidays. I would also choose this place if I had to come again for holidays with family. This is **(2 stars) hotel only, so I think it offers plenty of amenities for family comparing to other places in this category. I wonder why they have not got 3 stars?
Clean hotel but the room was hot and had a bad odor to it. It is not close to the beach or State Park. We had our bikes, but ended up driving to the downtown area for dinner. Location is not what we were hoping, ok for business but not pleasure.
After several of our friends told us we really had to visit Grand Haven, Michigan to see the "Musical Fountain", we decided to act upon the suggestion and visit on July 4, of this year. I began researching places to stay and decided upon Best Western BEACON INN. What a beautiful property. We arrived before 11 a.m. the morning of July 4, and the lady at the desk said she would have someone clean a room for us and we could move in by noon. She suggested some eating places near. After lunch, we were able to move in. Then we asked about things to do and places to eat for dinner. The same lady suggested Portabello downtown (we found it to be a wonderful Italian restaurant). She also told us a shortcut to drive into Grand Haven. On July 4, along with a wonderful musical fountain show, there is a 45-minute fireworks display with music. She gave us suggestions about where to wait and things we could do while waiting. Every suggestion of hers worked for us. The next morning, breakfast was quite delicious. Yes, it is the normal breakfast with a waffle machine. However, all of the offerings were delicious and plentiful. Although it was very busy, the worker in the breakfast room was cheerful, helpful, and had hot food replenished quickly. We were told the entire property where we stayed had been refurbished earlier this year. Everything was clean and inviting. This is the hotel in which to stay in Grand Haven and Grand Haven is a wonderful destination - especially on July 4.
The people were very friendly and we're very nice. Clean hotel the cleaning ladies worked very hard to make sure that you had a nice clean room. Breakfast was very good, lots of options. They have an indoor pool and hit tub. Great place to stay close to downtown Grand Haven. Can't beat the service
Free continental breakfast, pool & hot tub jacuzzi. 5 minutes drive from the beach and downtown Grand Haven. Comfortable beds and nice staff. The only thing missing is a TV with an HDMI port, so that I can plug in our Roku... other than that, everything was great!
My husband was very impressed with the variety of breakfast options. Our room was more spacious than average, and we liked how the bathroom was split into two parts - there was a door between the sink/mirror area and the toilet/bathtub area. WE also appreciated having a mini fridge and microwave in our room! We greatly enjoyed the hot tub. Our room has a little patio area in the rear and there was a very nice larger patio area with patio furniture outside the pool/hot tub area.
Driving up the property looked even more beautiful than the pictures online. The lobby is clean and nicely decorated. Our room was in the back building, detached from the lobby, so we were not expecting much, but the room was spacious and clean with new carpet. The queen size beds were comfortable with multiple pillows--some firm, some soft. The grounds were neatly kept, and we really enjoyed the patio area outside the pool.
It is hard to find a perfect, well kept hotel - Not many hotels compare to Best Western Grand Haven - the hotel is in very fine condition, clean, has a great pool and hot tub and the staff is helpful.
The family and I stayed here on our stop in Grand Haven. It was very reasonably priced and every staff member that we encountered was friendly. Also, you are a very close drive to the waterfront. The only tip I would give would be to pay a little extra if you want to be in the main building. This property seemed like a cross between a hotel and motel. Our room was located in the back in a separate building from the front desk and pool area. The room was very clean and the breakfast was an awesome value.
I took my daughter and her two friends to Grand Haven for a short vacation. We stayed at the Best Western in Grand Haven which was an easy drive into town and to the State Park to the Beach. The girls enjoyed the pool. The rooms were clean and comfortable. One night there was a huge electrical storm and the hotel lost its power for a few hours. The desk staff on duty were calm and had everything under control. They even gave us mini flashlights so we could see in our rooms. Our stay was fantastic!
This was my second visit to this hotel and I was amazed again how friendly everyone is. I have stayed all over America and would rate this place for the money top 5. The staff was so friendly and nice. Great breakfast and the checkout was so easy. I would recommend to all business personnel.
This hotel was clean, staff was helpful for the most part. Room was comfortable. We had requested ground floor and looking over the parking lot if possible. Our request was honored. We did have a couple of issues with running out of some of the breakfast items on one of the days. Asked the staff if they had more but they never came back to tell us one way or the other, so we had to ask again.... also, found a childs sippy cup in our room after the maid had cleaned it. The room was clean however other than this. I would stay here again. The room was a bit overpriced for the weekend rate, but was convenient to the local attractions.
I needed early check in and they accommodated me. I needed postcards and they were there at the desk. I needed change for the pop machine and they had it. Every request I made was met promptly and with a smile. Room was cool and clean and the bed was comfortable, with lots of pillows. I was only there over night and had no opportunity to use the pool, which made me sad because it looked nice. (I know, I know -- all those nearby beaches and yet I wanted to use the pool! But I burn easily and prefer to swim indoors.) I subtracted a star for two things: 1) The combination shampoo/conditioner in one was lousy. I know the amenities are probably purchased by Best Western corporate and so it's not fair to ding this location, but be warned. 2) The fruit at the complimentary breakfast looked past its prime. Still, next time I visit the area, this is where I'll stay. I felt safe, comfortable and very welcome.
A very Average Motel. nothing really stands out as good or bad. Service was good. They helped me with an extra roll away bed. Overall solid place. Had an indoor hot tub and pool which was nice. Not particularly close to the beach or things to do, but its only a short 1-2 mile drive.
First visit to Grand Haven, MI. Looking for a basic hotel for the weekend. Based on other reviews I read this proved to be a good location for our stay. Pleased with the comfortable bed. Front desk was busy but the staff was friendly and helpful. Room offered the usual amenities. Refrigerator was noisy it did wake me throughout the night when it kicked on. We chose this hotel based on its location, in door pool, hot tub and the free breakfast. Breakfast was very acceptable. I would stay there again.
Staff was friendly on check-in. Information was provided regarding the area. The interior decor was older however during ou visit, other rooms were receiving new headboards and other items. Multi breakfast items to choose from along with some hot items. The three star rating was appropriate. Good stay!
A bit dear, but otherwise fine. Located next to a Ford dealer and McDonald's restaurant. Clean, free internet. In room mini fridge. It is a short drive to downtown Grand Haven. Perfectly acceptable, perfectly forgettable.
what a nice place to stay- from the desking staff booking to showing up to a bright well groomed lawn and parking lot to check-in with a nice bed with 4 big pillows and 2 nice big tvs to the roomy bathroom with 4 big cotton towels a good nights sleep before the provided breakfast, wow, the staff was friendly, although busy, smiled and made the experience even better. we will surely be back and refer you to stay!
The customer service was super. Tommie checked us in and was very helpful in helping us get around town. Room was clean and updated. Breakfast was great!! Eggs, bacon, assorted cereals, waffles, assorted pastries, etc. Wonderful stay would stay again!!
One of the cleanest places I've ever stayed at, and the level of customer care/support could set the bar as it was simply put... Manager Kendra went above & Beyond to make certain we were happy with our stay! Great food/breakfast area, great job Kathy!!! "OUTSTANDING" !!! Great Job Best Western Beacon Inn !!!
I liked this place. Very clean hotel. Staff was very friendly. I would recommend staying here while in Grand Haven. It was affordable and the beds were comfortable. I used the pool and hot tub when we returned from Lake Michigan and found it relaxing. You will not be disappointed.
As usual we enjoyed staying at Best Western. Front desk staff was Great. Breakfast at this one was better than other BW's we've stayed at recently. Internet worked without trouble. Building was an older building, but rooms were recently updated with new paint and carpet. All plumbing, furniture, decor, appliances seemd fairly new as well. Wood walkways were showing their age. Had to relocate rooms due to a crying baby who wouldn't stop.
We stay at the Best Western Beacon Inn every year for the Great Lakes Kite Festival and would never consider another place. Courteous staff! Great Breakfast! Great pool! Easy access Close to all attractions.
This hotel is fantastic. Rooms are great and so is the customer service. This is the second time in three years that we've stayed at the Best Western Beacon Inn, and to tell you the truth, it's the only place we'll ever stay. We appreciate the accommodations and everyone is so nice. The owner oversees the operation and we feel very comfortable that he's always. Book a room the next time you in Grand Haven and you will NOT be disappointed. In addition, we are very fond of employee "Kendra Gardner" as she always willing to assist and help when needed.
My sisters and I stayed here and it was good for the price. Average hotel, clean rooms and small but good breakfast nothing to fancy. The staff was very friendly also. The only thing I wish was that the exercise room was a bit bigger with more in it.
The property is very nice and well cared for on a daily basis. Complimentary breakfast very good. Staff very friendly. They are rated by AAA. Property to walk around. Restaurants close by with good food. Pool and hot tub. The only problem that I had is that I used a pre paid travel card for the room. They put a hold on the card for the cost of one night charges. They charged against the card, and kept the hold on the card for 20 days, which i found annoying since they had already been paid. No matter how many phone calls I made the hotel blamed the bank, even though card info said it was the hotel holding the money. I made phone calls and talked with someone who was always going to call me back and did not. After 20 days they finally dropped the hold, and the money was credited back to my pre paid debit card. Make sure you understand how credit charges work if you need the credit line to be used for other charges.
Very nice hotel located in a very nice lakeshore community. Only a few miles from State park on entry of Grand River into Lake Michigan with outstanding sunsets. Plenty to do and see within the area, We stayed here for Tullip Time in Holland, MI, only 18 miles away. Glad we stayed in Grand Haven. We definitely would like to stay at this hotel on our next visit to Michigan.
had a great stay.hotel was clean staff was awesome had a problem and they solved the problem quickly and even helped us get a cheaper rate then when we booked it on line.great location.close to all the grand haven hot spots.recommend this hotel to everyone
We booked this hotel on Expedia. This hotel has 2 parts. The first part is like in the picture. The 2nd part is old courtyard type hotel. The indoor pool is in the first part. You cannot get to the pool from the old part without going outside. It was too cold to go outside with our swimsuits. The hotel staff would not let us change rooms, because, "expedia booked you in this room." Our room was smokey, and no other rooms were open. It was too late to find another hotel, and they would not help us with getting a refund. Repeated calls to the manager have been unanswered.
Coming off of a bad experience with the Best Western in Ludington, my boyfriend and i were wary upon arriving at the Best Western in Grand Haven. Luckily, it was a little less creepy that the prior hotel was, with the pool only being visible from the lobby and from the breakfast dining area, rather than by the entire population staying at the hotel. The breakfast was again substandard, and while my boyfriend and i were enjoying the hottub after a long day of walking, a group of senior citizens came through the back door and began doing water aerobics. Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely nothing wrong with water aerobics. It actually kind of looked like fun. But I wish that we had been told that the pool was going to be reserved during those times, as we wanted to swim but suddenly felt like we were trespassing on something. The room was nice, but incredibly noisy, as we could hear the people in the room next door talking/swearing very loudly into the night (I think it got quiet finally around 2am). So essentially, you get what you pay for. Cheap room, cheap food, place to stay.
Wonderful amenities; good breakfast choices; outstanding staff! Also, clean bedrooms, caring people. It was our 50th Anniversary and the hotel provided a gift certificate towards food and movie passes. This was most unexpected. Everyone was very polite andcaring.
We went during off season and all of us could only imagine how nice and fun the hotel would be if we were there in the summer. This was a great place to stay and although my friends were skeptical with the outside entrance, they were all pleasantly surprised by the room quality and space for the price we paid.
Very nice place. Update since we last stayed here. Staff were very nice and helpful. Very clean and refreshing room and so was the whole hotel. You can tell they take pride in their business. Outside is beautiful also. Breakfast was good just need to keep more of an eye on food running low. Great place.
Good hotel. Quiet well maintained. Room was very nice. Good value for the money. Breakfast was average or slightly above average. Pool area was nice. A bit tough to get to coming from the south due to the configuration of the hwy.
The room was clean and comfortable. Staff was professional and helpful. Breakfast offered was pretty good as well with lots of items available. Easy access to various locations around town. I will definitely stay here again!
Always stay when driving to the west side! Love this place. Staff is always helpful, breakfast is adequate and the whirlpool rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Hotel location is close to town and the city of Grand Haven has lots to offer for dinner and activities. Overall one of my go-to hotels.
All employees were fabulous, friendly, helpful and professional. It was off season when we stayed there and they serve a free meal on Tuesdays. Ours was vegetable chicken primavera with a salad. Very nice! We would definitely stay there again.
I had read that the property had been recently renovated. That might be true for the main building, but not the building where we stayed. If you're staying here I'd recommend requesting the main building. Pros of our stay: Room was large Location convenient to Grand Haven attractions Front desk staff friendly and welcoming Cons: No room fridge Beds need replacing--too soft Walls seemed paper thin--very noisy Room had somewhat shabby appearance
I have stayed at this hotel several times, always a great stay. The rooms are very clean and very nice. The location is good, not very far to anywhere in the area. The staff was very helpful when I was having to find restaurants or just getting directions to somewhere in the area.
We stayed for several days at this hotel and it was a great experience. The location is convenient to everything in town and the staff were really friendly and helpful in letting us know how to get around and things to do and places to eat. The rooms were well appointed and very clean. Breakfast was included and basic, pastries, fruit, cereals and make your own waffles. Would definitely stay here again.
I'd stay again. Nothing special but everything was "as advertised" and they made it easy to check in. Access to the room was convenient. No problem finding a parking space. Convenient to the Grand Haven area. Easy to get around.
WHAT A CLEAN WONDERFUL HOTEL. The staff went out of there way to do what ever we needed go Grand Haven best western. The food was very good and fresh fitness center was clean and all working well. rooms were clean and everything worked what a great place to stay.
Grand Haven Michigan is one of those places that has remained great over time. It combines history with the present for those in for business or leisure. The Beacon Inn enhances this experience by providing clean updated lodging with extras available if desired. The staff is happy and around. There's a great computer if one doesn't want to set up in the room. It's within an easy walk or drive to most of Grand Haven's attractions.
We checked in March 29th and departed the 30th. The room was beautiful! We stayed in a 2 Queen bed room by the courtyard. The view was nice, & I loved the sliding door and how I could park right in front of our room! The staff was very professional and friendly, Autumn checked us in & out and helped us find our way around. Great attitudes, great smiles, and great people all around. Nothing was wrong with the room, the pool and hot tub were nicely kept up on. Will definitely be staying here again!!
Check in and out went quickly. Room was large and clean, king bed with a setting area. Pool was nice, somewhat small in size. Breakfast is what you would expect, and help was on top of cleaning and picking up and re-loading food. Bed was very comfortable.
My first time in Grand Haven, Michigan and first time at the Best Western Beacon Inn. The staff was very accomodating and very friendly. The property is immaculate and just beautiful. I had the opportunity to meet with the owner who was very nice and his GM Kendra is excellent made my stay just very nice.
We stopped here after a long day on the road. I always clean the hotel rooms before letting the family come in due to severe allergies our family has. Usually I go through two sometimes three rags cleaning...not the case here. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the room was, even mopping the floor didn't bring up the dirt or filth that usually happens. The staff was friendly and smiles all around. It has a nice area with patio out back of the room where you can sit and enjoy the family or just fresh air. It was quiet, clean, friendly, easy check in and easy check out. We will come back to this location again. This Best Western Beacon Inn is the reason will come back and explore this town.
Receptionist Aubry made us feel welcome and at right home right away, Grand Haven is a beautiful beach town. With lots of restaurants and shopping. Fishing will be on the list next time I visit. We are excited to visit in the summer to enjoy the great people of Grand Haven and the wonderful beaches.
Clean room, excellent room service. The front desk people were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was nothing special, but it was free. The wifi speed could be slow in the evening, and was disconnected from the internet one early morning. Overall, a really nice stay for the price.
Staff was friendly and accommodating! Rooms were clean and available for an early check in, which was helpful and appreciated greatly. They have a very nice breakfast area and we were able to rent it for an evening gathering for our family Christmas. We will definitely use this hotel again in our travels!
Every February we travel to Grand Haven and we always choose this hotel. The staff is friendly (Audrey is awesome!) and accommodating. We have a large group that stays together- always a nice time. We have food brought in and they allow us to eat in their dining room (in view of the pool). The rooms are clean and very nice- lots of space to move around. We prefer inside room so we always request that. The courtyard rooms would be fine in summer but not in February.
The hotel was very clean. The beds were very comfortable. All the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast that was included was very good. Have stayed at expensive hotels and resorts with room rates upwards of $350.00 + per night. While this hotel was obviously not as "luxurious", the cleanliness and service was definitely as good. So for the value, this hotels rocks.
I stayed here last spring for business. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and customer service I chose it again, without hesitation this time. Thanks to all! The room was immaculate. The staff went the extra step to make sure my stay was pleasant.
Spent the weekend and had the grandchildren stay with us. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Service was tops, breakfast was OK. Had to walk to and from the pool outdoors. Worked because the temp outside was in the low 40's and not zero. Would not want small children outdoors in really cold temps coming from the pool wet.
Very nice, very accommodating! The people there were very willing to help out in any way necessary. The pool and hot tub were clean and the rooms were nice as well. We brought a small dog and they charged a nominal fee allowing us to keep our pet with us, which was also very nice.
We have family in the area but were staying at this hotel during a couple days around a family funeral. Accommodations were excellent, staff friendly and helpful. There were no complications with getting adjoining rooms with other family. The rooms were very, very clean and well appointed. Heater was a bit noisy, but not overly so - heated the room well. Pool, spa area was very clean w/plenty of clean towels available. Exercise room included a variety of equipment and a supply of cleaning wipes. This property is an excellent value.
I can't think of anything bad about my stay at the Beacon Inn. Everyone one was very nice, the hotel was clean, and the bed was great too. They had a great Tuesday night dinner meal. It was great to check in from a 680 mile trip and have a great chicken dinner ready. Plus they didn't charge extra for the food. I wish I could eat like that on every trip. I know I will be staying here again.
Tthis is a clean, nicely appointed property with helpful staff. The indoor pool and large hot tub are especially nice and family friendly. The breakfast area was a little small compared to other hotels but the food selection was adequate and fresh.
We had an excellent stay at this well-maintained property. Hotel sits back far enough from the divided highway in front, so is quiet and peaceful. Room was spacious and very clean. Staff friendly and professional. We will definitely stay here again when we need a room in the area. Call hotel directly to get the price advertised on Trip Advisor. Otherwise, calling without first checking could mean paying more for your room.
One of our best hotel experiences. This hotel is clean, quiet (yes, even on Hwy 31), has a very friendly staff, great breakfast (free) and the service is spot on. You won't find a better hotel in GH/SL area. Stay here, you'll be happy.
This has become our go to place when visiting family in the area. The staff is very friendly and helpful; consistently goes above and beyond. Facility and rooms very clean, nice decor. Breakfast quality needs improvement but change is in progress. Convenient location with retail stores, restaurants, pharmacies & shops very close. Have stayed in other hotels in the area, this hotel offers the best overall experience for rate charged.
We loved, loved, loved the Best Western Beacon Inn. From the time you drove up to the hotel, to the time we left, we had nothing but a positive experience. At check-in, Kristin took good care of us and was warm, friendly and a great ambassador both for the hotel and the City of Grand Haven. When we got the the room it was sparkling clean and very nice. I know that they are going to be doing some redecorating soon, but frankly, if I hadn't read reviews, I wouldn't have given the decor a thought. The breakfast was perfect, as we had a long ride following it, and I certainly, did not want anything heavy to eat. There was plenty of everything and all was tasty. I can't say enough about this place ... I would highly recommend it for anyone needing someplace to stay for a short period of time in Grand Haven.
We stayed overnight on the suggestion of friends who hosted a holiday party at their home. The front desk staff were courteous and professional. Our room was HUGE with two queens and ample room. The pool/hot tub area as well as our room were sparking clean and well appointed. The only complaint we had was that the beds were ROCK HARD! We sleep on a Tempurpedic at home but stay in a variety of hotels while traveling. An addition of a pillow topper would have made my night's sleep perfect with no sore hips in the morning and guaranteed a 5 star rating.
stayed here a few times before all is great. Staff goes above and beyond to accomodate and hotel is always clean and uncluttered. Will stay again in the future and reccommend to others staying in Grand Haven. The city has a lot to offer and the hotel is worth the stay for sure.
We stayed here overnight for a funeral in the area. We were greeted with a smile. We had a room on the lower level in cottages in the back of the main building. It was nice because we had no one above our heads making noise. The room was clean, but a little dark. We had a microwave and refrigerator which was good. I had to run to the local Meijers store down the street the next morning so I picked up froze breakfast sandwiches and yogurt . We were able to warm our sandwiches and had a good start to the day. The hotel does offer a continental breakfast , it is lacking (pancakes, small danish, and cereal). I was able to get coffee and juices to go along with our breakfast. The sheets could use a little bleaching, for whiting but they did not have any spots. Parking lot on the side of the building could use more lighting. The hotel does offer wifi, which was good. My daughter was able to do her homework for her online class.
There is no way for business purposes to find affordable lodging in Grand Haven, MI area during late Spring and Summer months. Prices rise 300-600 percent in some places. I commuted 18 miles from Coopersville, until recently. The Best Western Beacon, in Grand Haven, is reasonably priced starting in November and stays that way till Late Spring. The combination of amenities, and comfort make it the best choice for business or most other travel during the off season. My use is for business, and I'm quite satisfied with everything. Very good internet speed in the main building, the courtyard buildings are not as good. Typical breakfast is good, but could use some improvements. Rooms are large and comfortable.
very accomodating staff - whirlpool room was huge and very nice clean rooms and property even on main road was quiet Close to everything Grand Haven has to offer Highly recommend to others - book this place and you wont be disappointed
Updated, clean, and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again and get a jacuzzi room. Friendly staff. nice breakfast, and awesome shower. Only down side... inconvenient location of ice machine and Wifi would not connect.
Nice clean place and the staff were fine. I left a ring in my room. I called within 2 hours of leaving and no luck. I actually called twice. They never called me. My fault but I think it would have been an easy find.
Clean and comfortable rooms/beds. Wonderful staff! Nice pool and hot tub. Breakfast wasn't great but it is free. Especially for the price, this hotel was a great value. Easy parking, easy access to rooms. Lacking in ice machines though.
The room was nice and quiet. The Bed was decent to sleep on. We had a whirlpool room and it was clean and it worked well. The Staff was friendly and courteous. We will be back and would recommend this hotel to anyone.
While this hotel isn't the fanciest, and there are a few minor maintenance issues they should keep up on- it was a comfortable stay. Clean room and decent beds. Our room was supposed to have a view of the courtyard, but it just faced the other building, so all we got to look at was siding. Their breakfast is a little lower than standard- there isn't much by way of hot food, but to was okay. For the price, it's probably the best place to stay in the area.
We have stayed at this business several times .We are always satisfied and the help is very helpful ! If we were not treated as we thought we should be ....to put it simple .....we would find somewhere else to stay ......plain and simple !
My husband and I needed a night away and chose Grand Haven. Found Best Western Beacon Inn. Friendly staff, clean room and bed was comfortable. We asked lady that checked us in about best places to eat and she was so nice and told us about two great places. Ate supper at one place and breakfast at other. Our room was excellent and cozy, My husband and I will for sure go back to this place in the future next time maybe even bring the kids along as the pool are looked very nice and clean as well. Lady that checked us in even gave us quicker and more scenic route to downtown Grand Haven. Grand Haven is a beautiful city to travel to, stay at and has great restaurants to eat at. The hotel was also a great price compared to many other hotels. Even when checking out of our hotel room the checkout man was very nice and wanted to known if our room was exactly how we expected it to be, plus was kind enough to ask how the overall trip was in Grand Haven. He wasn't trying to rush us out the door at all!
You can tell they take pride in this hotel. Everything in tip top shape and very clean. Bed was excellent, not too soft or hard. The wall must be super thick because we were right by the elevator and never heard a sound. Definitely would stay here again if passing through the area.
We tend to be favoring Best Western for the last couple of years as their running their Hotel the right way. This locations breakfast is the only thing that needs to be improved (border line continental) like a lot of the other BW's which have eggs and sausage patties available.
This room was spotless. The staff was very friendly. They had a free breakfast and free wifi that worked well. I have no complaints - good value, convenient location. We did not use pool but the kids looked like they were having a ball.
My husband and I just returned from a short trip to Western Michigan for a little get-a-way. The staff at this Best Western was the most friendly, courteous and helpful I have run across anywhere. EVERYONE had a smile and friendly comment.
CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!!!!! We pulled in late, welcomed by kind and customer friendly staff. Both Audrey and Beth were awesome! Management should give them both a raise! We did not get to enjoy the pool or hot tub but it looked great. Will stay here again.
great place for night stays. pool is nice and hot tub is great. location is close to the down town area, and the lake shore is just a few blocks away. Restaurants are along the main road as well as the down town area. The staff is knowledgeable of the local restaurants and give honest advise.
This Hotel was perfect for a spur of the moment weekend away. It was very clean and the staff was very customer focused, friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel and stay here again. The price is also very reasonable.
From the time we arrived, (to find out I had somehow messed up the reservations), to the time we left, we were treated beautifully. Clean, comfortable, quiet rooms, great breakfast buffet, beautiful facilities, ever-so-kind staff.
From check-in to check out, the staff was wonderful, the rooms are roomy and clean, and the cleaning staff very professional! If you are in need of a hot breakfast, there are no scrambled eggs or bacon/ sausage on the breakfast menu, but they do have cold boiled egg &waffles, along with the usual continental breakfast. All in all, a great experience.
Good Location to all attractions in the area of Grand Haven Michigan. The Downtown is active with plenty of good restaurants and boating activities The Hotel is a very clean facility with a good size pool and fitness room with well equipped with current state of the art fitness machines. Hotel staff very friendly and courteous.
