Best Western Plus La Fayette Hotel et SPA

Stayed 2 nights here and the location and external appearance on arrival was worrying. However the interior was very well appointed and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. A special mention for Emily at reception who went out of her way to resolve our initial rooms problems-always with a smile! Comfortable bed, good bathroom and a quite position. The restaurant was surprisingly very good and at a reasonable price, although the bottle of wine we chose was grossly overpriced, but we knew it!

We asked for a quiet room and this request was fully met. We received a room at the end of a ground floor corridor, where no other guests would pass. Between the door to the corridor and the bedroom is a hall with bathroom and WC, so there are two doors between the bedroom and the corridor of the hotel. The air condition worked well and was easy to control. We switched it off, since the room had shutters outside the window, so we could keep the window open. Even with open window, there was little noise from outside. A good thing is the WC, separated from the bathroom. We had a great dinner for 22 euro pp. The chef has talent if he is able to serve such a tasty and well presented three courses dinner for that price. No wonder that most guests decided to have dinner in the hotel! We did not use the Spa and other facilities in the hotel. The batteries of the remote control for the TV were corroded. After mentioning it to the reception they were replaced. The location of the hotel is ideal for travellers, close to the highway. If you want to see the centre of Épinal, however, you will need to drive. The hotel is located in an industrial (economic) zone, but it's still possible to have a nice walk in the environment. Opposite the hotel is an ALDI for all your groceries (or a half bottle of wine) and in 3 minutes walk your reach a nice bakery where you can have breakfast with a croissant and coffee or tea (If you are not in for an extensive buffet).

Excellent hotel with very nice rooms, very comfortable beds, a good restaurant although maybe a little pricey but very nice food. The staff were very friendly, I would definitely stay here again for business or pleasure

From the moment I checked into the hotel (as a none-French speaking person) to the moment I left, the staff were friendly and professional. I am a vegetarian, and the restaurant went out their way to ensure that my food was suitable and tasty.

An official delegation was participating in memorial ceremony at the AMBC cemetery. The hotel was recommended by a commissioner. The Hotel sits directly on a round-a-bout and is easily seen from the main road. Hotel lobby was comforting and welcoming. The hotel staff made it very easy to check-in and speaks English pretty good. The Hotel is dated and room keys are not modern but works well. The rooms are neat, clean, and well maintained. The beds are comfortable and pillows are soft. The price is comparable with others establishments in the area. The amenities are abundant. The restaurant was fabulous. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

First of all i should tell the hotel looks very archaic - you will be returned to deep 80th. Rooms are spacious enough but... first time I saw floor in bathroom and toilet covered with linoleum (room 138)! That is not standard for 4-stars hotel. Same with absence of bathrobes - you have to demand them and pay deposit. Room was clean enogh. Breakfast is very tasty and with wide choice. Lobby bar is a bit strange. I mean that barman is the same person who works on reception. Restaurant I did not tested but there is Michelin stickers on the entrance. Probably restaurant is worth to be visited.

We have been with a group and had different rooms. The quality of the room depend strongly if you had a new room or an old room. Unfortunately we had an old room... the air in the room was also not very good and fresh. Breakfast was also below average - specially not enough tables to accommodate all the guests

I needed to be in the area for a business meeting and after checking many options I booked the Best Western. It is not very fancy but ok. Take a superior room. Bathroom is new with if you want some blue neon lights (no worries - you can also just put on the normal lights). Bedding was very comfortable. Service was ok - breakfast was fine too. Cheers, Sara

Was there for a weekend. The room was very small and had no drawers for storing underwear, shirts etc. There was only a wardrobe for hanging clothes. They offered to move me to a larger room which, after viewing, I accepted, however when I was ready for the move they had given it to another guest. The meals, including the breakfast, were first class.

Very outdated and old hotel. When entering the main hall you can already feel an unpleasant smell of dampness. We booked two non-smoking rooms, one of them was stinking of cigarettes - obviously, people were smoking in the non-smoking room. Another room was better with the smell, but the shower was broken. For the money this hotel asks for a night they have to make a significant renovation and improvement, especially in regards to non-smoking rule. Breakfast is also a bit overpriced for the buffet this hotel offers. We are quite disappointed with the stay in this hotel and are not coming back for sure mainly because of unpleasant stink of cigarettes in non-smoking rooms and outdated interior.

Four of us stayed for 4 days on a business trip. The hotel was good but what really made the difference was the staff, in particular Oceana the receptionist, who couldn't have been more helpful. Oceana was never too busy to help it give us information to ensure our check-in, stay and departure experiences were fantastic. The hotel restaurant is also very good. It was also great to see that the hotel supports local wildlife with a bird table and impressive insect house in the grounds.

Rooms are big and comfortable. Everything was clean. However, they use something weird to clean the room and there was a funny smell in the air. Don't expect a luxurious spa. It is small and no one is monitoring it. Some people are not respecting the hygiene rules, so I have serious doubts about the cleanliness of the place. When we did the check in no one offered us towel our slippers for the spa, we had to ask for them. Same story for the restaurant. When we came down to have dinner, we were told that they were complete. We had to go somewhere else. A bit more of professional and I would have rated this hotel differently.

Need a place for the night at Epinal and this worked. The rooms have thin walls and I could hear quite a bit from the neighbors. I was surprised it had no elevator, even for a two story place. Overall, it worked, I would try to stay downtown next time to have more to do.

My wife and I spent a night here recently. The room was fine, but the bathroom is complicated - a previous reviewer commented on the transparent glass wall between the shower area and the bedroom. Well, amongst all those confusing switches, there's one that makes the glass opaque thus saving your dignity! It does take a minute or two to become effective, so maybe was missed by the previous writer. And it wouldn't be difficult to miss that it's there - there must be about ten switches in the bathroom alone - some for regular lighting, and some for electric blue mood lighting, and the one for the glass wall. The bed was adequate, and our sleep was fine. We ate dinner at the in-house restaurant before retiring. The food was fine, as was the wine and the beers - but it was over-priced and I felt they were trying too hard to be a gournet venue rather than a Best Western hotel. A bit too fancy for my liking, but tasty and very edible, nevertheless. We did not partake of breakfast the next morning, so no comment about what was on offer. Overall, whilst the quality was above that normally found in Best Western hotels, I felt it was trying to be something that it wasn't and that effort just wasn't necessary. It must be said that the staff were all very pleasant and efficient. Recommended? The jury is out (the cost is too high, both for the room and for the evening meal, but the quality is high too - it's not really what a BW is all about though). Will I return? Probably not - there must be less expensive hotels in a better location within the town of Epinal (The Lafayette is, after all, in an Economic Park - i.e. surrounded by low level commercial units, all of which look less than ten years old. Boring!)

We went there for a weekend to explore the region. Centrally situated between lake Bouzet and Gerardmer, the hotel has very nice rooms, comfortable beds, small but relaxing wellness and sauna and great to go to the restaurant with great food afterwards only a few steps from your room. Very friendly service!

I stayed as a business trip and found the room to be very nice and it seems recently decorated. The price is quite high compared to the many other hotels in the area. Service was fine and both check in and check out very quick. The room was modern with a good amount of space, work area, mini bar, good sized bathroom with a nice rain shower. One odd point is that the shower has a full glass window that looks directly into the bedroom. I have seem this in other hotel brands but they always offer some way to close it, such as a blind? No option in this one, so if you are staying here with friends, ensure you are happy to share a shower view together, as it is unavoidable. Bed was a good size and very comfortable. The room has tea and coffee making facilities. Wifi is available and free. Once connected I found it to be a good speed for working but the signal in the room was much lower than in the main hotel area. This made FaceTime calling difficult as the low signal dropped the call. I was very close to the main reception, so not sure why the signal is that low. The breakfast was very simple although they did have a quite a nice range it was much smaller than other chains, if you normally stay with major brands then you will find it a bit small. I found everything I needed and the breakfast cost is very reasonable at around €12. Freshly squeezed orange is available for an additional fee. I did not use the Spa but did have a look. The pool is very small, much smaller than it seems on the photo (don't expect to swim), but it has a jacuzzi as well and all seems included in the price. Again, one strange point is that the pool and spa area look directly into the reception area? Strange to think why watching everyone check in and out is relaxing? Personally I would fully block that window and allow the Spa to be more secluded. Overall, for a three star hotel the room is very good and the breakfast acceptable. Wifi needs strengthening to meet all the rooms and the price remains quite high.

I often stay at Best Western as they take dogs and hotels are normally above average quality. For this reason I pick the Lafayette, even though the 130 EUR per night price excluded Breakfast was pretty high, probably the highest in the area. We enter i and the room was terribly hot, temperature gauge worked badly so we could not really change it, we then proceed to close the curtain and the pretty heavy metal bar holding the it fell off missing my partners head by few cm. We then open the wardrobe and we find a pair of dirty underwear in it!!! We tried wireless and signal was very poor. We took a shower but the glass door seals were old and in certain places not present so we found ourselves with a lake in the bathroom. 130 EUR?? Are we kidding?? After my complaint the concierge gave us the breakfast free but that did not give me back the night i spent there. Very little sleep and pretty annoyed; I am not giving 2 stars just because its the first time this happens in Best Western. Sort it out!!Its ridiculous!

The food serviced at dinner was fantastic! It really opened me up to the most superb food combinations. I was so floored. The room was nice and clean, the bed was ok, plenty of parking. I stayed here so that I could visit nearby American National Cemetery

Stayed here with a large group on our way to the Alps. The hotel doesn't look much from the outside, but inside is lovely, modern and spacious. Spa is small, but well equipped. Staff were excellent, and very helpful. Although it seems like you're on an industrial estate there are a few decent places to eat nearby. Would recommend a stay here.

I was staying in this hotel for two weeks. Rooms are nice and clean. Service was without any problems. Had only breakfasts, but it was really all you can ask for, with some local specialties (meat, cheese). Perfect was the spa, a real dealbreaker. Two types of sauna, then pool and hot tub. Great relax after a long day. Not crowded at all. Available without any additional fee or appointment. Basic shops nearby by foot, larger 3min by car. Great accesibility from highway.

The staff was very pleasant and helpful. My room was clean and well appointed. The beds where comfortable and the bathroom was a great deal larger than most European ones. My only complaint is the walls are a little thin in the morning you can here your neighbors getting ready

On our journey down to the south of France we needed some overnight stopovers. Lafayette Hotel just fitted the bill. It was very close to the motorway. The spa was fantastic and very relaxing. The food was quite expensive but of exceptional quality. and the staff couldn't do enough for us. The room was very well appointed and there was nothing we could fault.

The hotel is really decent, maybe a bit expansive for the little remote location, but the bed is just great. Superb the SPA and fitness area, and very good breakfast. Also great restaurant on the ground floor. Negative points, SPA is on the ground floor, and you may like to avoid to be overlooked by all people passing by, and the shower is too small if you are more than 1,60 m tall. Plus the breakfast is not included so on top you'll have to pay 12€.

We used this hotel as a stop over from the UK to Northern Italy. Its main attraction is that it is only a few minutes from the motorway and that it has secure underground parking. As other posts indicate, the location is on a retail park on the outskirts of town. The exterior is relatively nondescript and the hotel is easy enough to find but not easy to see from a distance. It should be noted that the garage has room for about ten cars and is accessed via a tight ninety degree turn at the bottom of a steep driveway. Low slung cars, or those with wide turning circles may struggle. Judging by the number of vintage and supercars in residence though this is obviously a well known watering hole for the motoring fraternity. The superior room booked was not very large, more in keeping with an economy hotel room in the UK and ranking as a broom cupboard by American standards but large rooms are not common in French hotels until you get to the five star level. That said, it was clean, functional, quiet and pleasant. We ordered breakfast in our room which contained a large selection of food all of which was of high quality. The one surprise that we did have was that having booked a 'Best Western' we assumed that the food would also be in line with chain hotel standards. Having arrived in the bar expecting to order a couple of beers and a burger we found the restaurant was not busy and we enjoyed one of the best dinners that we had throughout the holiday, including outlets and hotels operating at a much higher price. English was spoken by two of the staff but the rest were helpful and very understanding of my poor efforts in French. All in all a pleasant and functional hotel with an excellent restaurant and useful garage if you're driving something that might attract 'sticky fingers' if left outside overnight.

Lafayette is a typical business hotel in Epinal. Rooms are average and shower is ok bathtub however has been squeezed in the bathroom and is not recommended to be used by a normal sized person. Breakfast was standard and could have been better for the room rate

I chose this hotel for an overnight stay while traveling home after our annual holiday after reading online reviews and was not disappointed. The staff were attentive, the hotel is very clean and for extra piece of mind if leaving luggage in the car there is a secure underground garage for 8 euros.
