Lovely hotel, great bar and comfortable room

We are both in our 80 is We have been on about 4 of your offers and been disappointed with all of them The hotels have various quality of rooms but as we ask for twin room we end up at the fiurthest from lift This last one in the bull at Peterborough first very difficult to get in carport We felt 2nd class as travel zoo at this hotel. has separate menu before had an allowance on standard menu And room was cold and very sick through the night No lift so had to pay extra for ground floor room but had steps to get out fron doors so had to lift disability scooter down We booked guests in and both of us had to go back to reception to to make cards work This was our diamond anniversary so where very disappointed

some of the staff were friendly however others felt like they were judging me due to my clothing The room was rather small considering the price. The toilet was honestly horrendous in room 175. absolutely no space whatsoever if you're a big guy. The hotel car park is also hidden with not much signage at all pointing you in the right direction.

The hotel and room was really nice but the bed was like concrete. So uncomfortable and it's also been slept in so much the mattress tilts downwards from the middle. I had an awful night's sleep.

We arrived at the Bull and found their carpark was very spacious and very convenient for the hotel itself. As guests it was also free! The hotel itself has great charm and is perfectly located for the city centre, the excellent shops and of course the cathedral. All the hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the food was super and our room very clean and comfortable. All in all, it could not be faulted in any way and we had a most enjoyable stay.

Excellent hotel.Very attractive bar and lounge areas. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast superb. Dinner just a little disappointing.Bedroom very clean,comfortable and well appointed. On the whole excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend it

Stayed room 302 disabled. Could only get cold draught from heating, stuck on 20 deg owing out cold air. Poached eggs were good.

Excellent location. Good size, clean, quiet room. Excellent value for our two night stay with meal and breakfast. Food a little disappointing but acceptable or the deal we were on.

Exceptionally clean and comfortable with lovely decor. Staff friendly and welcoming. Roast dinner was the best that I have ever eaten. All in all very good value for money.

As a scooter user and needing a wet room I was pleased with the accessibile room. Shower controls very confusing. A fridge would be useful. Kirsty, on reception, was incredibly helpful and friendly and my stay much easier.

The hotel has a great location for visiting Peterborough and Peterborough Cathedral is just nearby. In addition to touring the Cathedral, the exhibition of Mary Queen of Scots is held there between 21/9 and 15/11. The hotel room is clean and comfortable with air conditioning available.

The hotel needs to be improved in lots of ways. As for the money you can get better out there as it's to backdated. The rooms were not clean to high standards. I would never recommend this to anybody.

Second visit to this Hotel .Rooms are very nice comfortable and clean . Staff are friendly and helpful . A very nice bar area which also serves meals and afternoon teas. Great value as our deal included a three course meal on the first night and breakfast both mornings. My only observation was that this time we had a room at the front of the Hotel which was a little noisy in the morning. I would recommend this Hotel .

Lovely old hotel with very nice spacious rooms. Good city centre location with free parking (quite a struggle to find car park entrance with one way system). Good breakfast and good table 3 course set dinner. Second visit. Noisy party on Sunday night but we coped. Has an atmosphere of period elegance.

Comfortable, value for money, very clean, friendly professional staff

Check in was ok, however I was told I had a room over looking front of hotel but no it was awful, room 296. The hotel corridor and my room had a weird smell, musty! My room was very big with a huge comfy bed, however the furniture was extremely old and worn. Sunday lunch was delicious along with the wine and would definitely recommend it. Girl on the bar was very helpful and polite. Breakfast was terrible, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns all dry! Staff looked like they didn't get on, felt sorry for the young man v the ladies. I had a visit from maintenance to change a smoke alarm cover, while I was in bed not great. Then to top it off I checked out at Reception, nice guy but didn't ask if I had had a nice stay, nothing. Some serious training needs to be had here the hotel wasn't busy but its wasn't the best experience.

Lovely hotel with beautiful decor, the room had everything we needed for the stay and being in a beautiful building like this was the perfect experience for my graduation celebration. The only thing I would say is that the mattress, pillow combination was not as wonderful on our backs as we would have liked.

Lovely hotel with very helpful staff and very well equipped rooms. The bar and restaurant offer a good selection of meals at reasonable prices. Overall a very pleasant stay.

The lobby, entrance and bar all look fantastic in the hotel. Really does feel fancy and 4 stars. Unfortunately the rooms are not up to the same standard. The bathroom I can not fault, very modern and stylish. The bedroom has a strange colour scheme, yellow walls, red door and blue wavy carpet. Very outdated and not how I'd thought it would look at all. Was quite a let down. Maybe the other rooms may be better.

Originally coming from Peterborough, The Bull always holds a bit of kudos as a great hotel and I am glad to see it is still a good hotel. I've always liked the bar as well and friendly staff. The room was clean and not too expensive, although air con would be good with these hot summers now. The price stands up well against the competition, when you also factor in free city centre car parking. Will be back.

Great hotel, really nice pub. Only negative was lack of plugs near the bed. Sounds silly, but couldn't plug fab in near the bed (no air-con). Take battery packs. Otherwise awesome place , such a great find and super friendly and helpful staff.

Hotel well situated in the centre, lovely old building. Travelzoo deal was very good and the restaurant food at breakfast and dinner was excellent. Disappointed that hardly any rooms had a walk in shower and had to pay a supplement to get one. Staff very helpful and friendly. Useful to have free city centre parking at the hotel.

I hadn't realised you didn't have a lift and my room was initially on the 2nd floor, but after I asked I was moved to the 1st floor. Though with my arthritic knee I would have preferred to be on the ground floor. The staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be and I have no other complaints at all.

Right in the centre of town. Room was beautiful staff extremely polite and helpful. This is our 4th year staying at The Bull hotel. Wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. Hope to see you next year.

All good, clean well organised and lots of helpful staff

Breakfast on the morning of 24/08 was a fiasco. Wanting an early start at 7am we found the restaurant in darkness and the receptionist had to leave his desk and take our order. We only had time for toast and tea before we left.

Excellent location in the centre of Peterborough. Free parking was a bonus but DO USE the postcode on the website otherwise it can be tricky to find the entrance. We had a deluxe room with a/c but not sure standard rooms have this so something to consider if visiting in the summer. Great bar and was always served quickly and courteous. Food was perfectly fine and of a pub style rather than gourmet. My wife particularly enjoyed breakfast in the room which arrived bang on time. Not a huge amount to do in Peterborough itself but we visited Burleigh about 30 mins drive away which was excellent. In summary we had a really enjoyable weekend at The Bull.

The room was freezing when we arrived as the air conditioning was on high but was corrected afterwards. Location very central and near train station. Not the hotel's fault but Peterborough surprised us with so much poverty, rough sleeping and drunken shouting, with security guards patrolling and police cars. There was a strange humming noise outside at night. Breakfast was good for a three star hotel, not a four star. The last day at breakfast there was a loud scream from the kitchen, obviously one of the waitresses and then a loud sound of a lot of crockery crashing to the floor. Otherwise not bad.

Lovely hotel with good facilities and in a handy central location. Helpful reception staff, nice bar, nice food and relaxing places to sit. Howard was very helpful to us with our difficulty of getting in to visit the cathedral. The visit was marred though, because it wasn't clear about the approach route to use if arriving by car - we put in the postcode from the hotel website and drove through a restricted traffic zone, thus incurring a fine. Apparently, there is another postcode to use for the car park, as the entrance is on a different road altogether from the hotel. We also felt that the dining room staff could do with a bit more customer service training.

Easy to find the hotel from the directions given before arrival. Very helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable room (115) but looking out directly onto a brick wall. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work and there was no way to turn off the heated towel rail so it was a bit stuffy. Happy to go back though, the restaurant and bar were good and being city centre we could explore Peterborough on foot. We also used the bus and had a good day out in Stamford.

We really enjoyed it. Hospitality was nice. Friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Food was nice and especially went out of your way to cater for halal eaters. Rooms are nice and clean and spacious

Beautiful hotel Food is lovely, staff are friendly and nothing to much trouble. The atmosphere within the hotel matches its era. The only negative is finding the vehicle entrance.

The whole experience was absolutely brilliant. All the staff were friendly, helpful, & took time out of their busy schedule to talk to us. The only thing we would have liked is some information on the history of the Coaching Inn. We had to search for the information online.

The room 103 was very comfortable, a little tired maybe but very quiet with the window shut which was a huge bonus. No aircon but was just the right temperature. Our main problem was the keycard lock to the room being very temperamental - there was no rhyme or reason to getting it to work. Breakfast was amazing, a served buffet but with extra items available to order - the fried eggs under the heat lamps had dried out, but the poached eggs were lovely. Free parking included to the rear of the hotel was a lovely touch

Lovely hotel and staff, especially Ruben the waiter. Not many hotels have check in at 2 and check out at 12. That is an extra bonus if needed

First time in Peterborough..OK place , but streets and pavements generally filthy. Get finger out Council.

We had a good stay. Little bit disappointed with the rooms view a brick wall and very noisy in the evening And morning woken at 6.am from Noise in the yard We must have got the worse room in the hotel. Apart from this the staff was very pleasant and helpful Food : dinner and breakfast were very good and plenty of it. Having the car park helps Very close to centre so didn't need the car at all for the stay All in all we enjoyed our stay Dave Resd

Lovely hotel in the middle of Peterborough. A bit of a nightmare to find the car park. If you go here speak to reception and get the alternative post code or you'll never find the entrance. Staff were friendly and excellent in reception and in the bar. Our room was a bit small and without air-con, so was a bit warm overnight. Would definitely stay again but would make sure of air-con first.

Perfect location with ample parking which is a rarity for a city center these days, late checkout (12 noon), customer service is second to non, staff are so friendly nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are dated but usable, everything that you could want for a few days stay. We booked this through travelzoo so it was excellent value for money.

We stay at the Bull a couple of times a year to go see family...we like it .its central Peterborough ..the car is safe on the carpark..foods really good..rooms clean and comfy ..staff are really friendly

Beautiful hotel in the centre of the city. Very clean and staff friendly and helpful. The downside was the food. Menu needs a rethink and quality very poor. A big let down for a good Hotel.

Great first Travelzoo experience. Really good deal for this lovely hotel. Bar area decor was amazing. Bar, restaurant and breakfast food was all lovely. Only issue was that the breakfast in the room ticket we left on the door wasn't collected. Luckily we clicked it in the morning, so we didn't miss breakfast, and they waived the service charge. Would defo stay again

Great place to stay & location was perfect. We stayed in the heatwave & hotel was lovely & cool, room also had Aircon. Our room was very clean & refreshed each day which was very unusual nowadays, maybe because it was not peak season.Lots of storage space which was good. Bar had a good selection.Breakfast was very nice with plenty of lovely staff but the two evenings meals were just ok Service was a bit slow but staff were excellent. We enjoyed our break & would go there again. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff.

Written during a heatwave. Nice old hotel and welcoming, friendly staff. I was on the second floor and there was no lift so it was a bit slow and hot to carry my suitcase up and down but managable. The room was clean and comfortable but there was no aircon and the window only opened a fraction which made for two very hot and restless nights. Breakfast was missable.

I travelled here with my 18 year old son for a short break via a Travelzoo offer. All I can say is that the hotel is fabulous and we had a wonderful 2 night stay here. A hidden treasure in an otherwise quite bleak city, I'm afraid. However, I wouldn't hesitate to visit again, as a base for exploring the wider area. The room was air conditioned (thankfully!) and very clean with a lovely bathroom. The beds were super comfy. There is a large, attractive bar area with a wide choice of draught beers and lagers. We ate here both nights and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff were faultless; extremely helpful and friendly, particularly when we turned up slightly late for breakfast! They immediately plated up exactly what we wanted. It was no trouble at all. There is also plenty of free parking for residents. I would recommend the Bull Hotel without hesitation... just don't be put off by the route into the hotel's car park!

On the whole a good two night stay. Evening meal was excellent but the breakfast was ok. We had breakfast on the Monday and we were the only ones there and think the hot food had been sat for a while. Would have been better that it was made to order when few are expected for breakfast. On the Sunday it was busy for breakfast so not the same experience but the girl serving the hot food was chewing some gum which is not what you want to see when choosing food. Hotel rooms have no A/c which was unfortunate due to the very hot period the UK was experiencing. On a normal uk day it would probably have been fine. Location is very central which was good but it took us a few trips around the centre to find the car park. Maybe a details map and route to take would aid guests via the email notifications on the booking.

Good hotel very comfy room and service

We had a short break at The Bull Hotel as we were visiting Burghley House and the surrounding area. To be honest we weren't expecting first class as we hadn't paid top end prices. We can honestly say we were very very surprised the hotel was immaculate very clean and staff were very attentive and helpful. Our room was very large altho on the third floor (wouldn't recommend for people unable to climb stairs) . We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was excellent and everything you could wish for at breakfast . Staff in the restaurant worked very hard and were on top of everything to keep it running smoothly. Would highly recommend this hotel and return if in the area again. The free parking was a bonus.

From the moment we arrived we were so impressed with the service. All the staff were efficient and friendly. The breakfast was really good quality and we will definitely return.

This was our 3rd 2 night stay at The Bull but our first with a room upgrade- which was very nice. The ved waz a good length which my husband really appreciated & it was extremely comfortable. Our room & bathroom were a good suze & it was useful to have a fridge in the room as my hudband gas medication which needs to be dtored in the fridge. Thank you. As on the 2 previous occasions we enjoyed our 'included' evening meal & the quality ingredients at breakfast. We've found The Bull to be a good base for events in Peterborough & visiting Cambridge. We hope to be back.

Carpark hard to find but the hotel is well recommended.

My husband and I arrived at the bull hotel to celebrate my 80th birthday and booked a deluxe room Which certainly was not deluxe So went to reception and they gave us another room which was ok. Back of hotel fridge not working we had also booked a second room for family arriving the following morning spoke to receptionist about breakfast as they had a long journey and asked if we could book breakfast for 9 30 she said no problem we serve until 11am. But when we sat down all there was left on the buffet was scraps of everything then told we finish breakfast today at 10am it was totally rubbish the next evening I tried to ord a cocktail from their menu again to be told we aren't serving cocktails tonight what a mess the staff have absolutely no training at all customer service nil finally i went back to the bar and asked for a cafeteria of coffee and 2liquers the bar person replied you will have to go to the restaurant to order this which reluctantly I did and then was told by the waiter I needed to order this from reception talk about faulty towers just don't go if you want a lovely hotel and quality staff

This is our 8th time at the Bull Hotel And it has always been a lovely stay.Reuben the young man who works in the restaurant is amazing he always recognises us and gives us a warm welcome.Also Stephen who was at reception on Friday was most helpful he had upgraded our room to a king size and he even offered to carry or bags up for his which was so kind of him.We did decline but was lovely that he even offered.All breakfast staff so polite and helpful nothing to much trouble.Will Be back again for visit number 9 very soon.Thankyou all at the Bull Hotel for outstanding hospitality.

We stayed for weekend get together with family. The location was fantastic. Nothing but praise for all the hard working and attentive staff. Both breakfast and evening meals were enjoyable. Our room was very comfortable. Certainly would stay again if ever we find ourselves near Peterborough.

Very nice location. A bit difficult to find the intrance to the parking lot. The sign weren't that big.

Very relaxing and clean environment, very comfortable beds. We had a good night sleep. Breakfast was ok, however there was no high chair in the restaurant for my 1yr old, which made it very challenging for me.

As always the service and staff were brilliant .The rooms and food were top class. Added bonus this year of the beer tokens was very much appreciated by all my group Thank you see you in September.

Had a very nice weekend at the Bull. Great value for the money we paid Room was spotless , tea making facilities plentiful, showers excellent , staff were polite and helpful and the hotels' furnishings made for a relaxing atmosphere. Dinner as part of the deal was very good ( recommend the Irish Stew) and bar prices ok considering where we were. Easy walk to the centre and cathedral and road directions given were spot on. Free parking much appreciated considering we were in city centre. Some noise into the night from revellers elsewhere but to be expected this time of year, bank hols etc. Overall a very good Hotel. We stayed here for a 2 night Travel Zoo trip and were not disappointed. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the railway station and close to the town centre and shops. It is an attractive building with an old world charm to it, spacious with lots of comfy seating areas around the foyer, bar and restaurant. Our room was compact but included two armchairs which we appreciated, especially whilst watching tv. Both bedroom and bathroom were perfectly clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. During our stay we had two evening meals, one of which was included in the deal. The food was excellent, well presented and hot. We particularly enjoyed the mediterranean vegetable soup which came with a fresh warm bread roll. There was plenty of breakfast choices. Whilst in Peterborough we experienced some record breaking high temperatures. The hotel has air conditioning downstairs and apparently some of the guest rooms, unfortunately not ours, however we were able to open our bedroom window wide and were provided with a small fan. Overall an enjoyable, excellent value mini break.

Central location in Peterborough Rooms were clean and comfortable and staff very friendly and helpful. We were located at the back of the hotel and had very little noise despite having the windows open. The 2nd couple had a radiator stuck on which made their room even hotter but this was soon rectified. Overall great value for money as the food was also very good and nothing to much trouble

Beds are awful. Staff were nice. Breakfast was basic. Finding the car park was like mission impossible.

This was the best experience I have had in a hotel and i travel a lot. People here were so accommodating, the rooms are great. The cleanliness is top notch and the service and amenities were all so smooth and swift. I”ll definitely be coming back and I 100% reccommend!

Very accommodating during this holy month!

Firstly to find the hotel car park is awful we were circling around Peterborough trying to find the car park it took us so long we had to call the hotel, finally they gave told is where to go but without that we would've been lost. Later on I found it on the website but it should be pointed out a bit more and say when buying the room where the car park is. The decor around the entrance and lobby and the pub feels very luxurious and done up feels very European. However I felt this was misleading... there was no elevator upstairs so it was a long and steep walk up to the rooms. The steps and the hallways felt very basic and dimly lit, not the same feeling as the lobby. The executive sweets were quite nice but felt like a basic hotel room and expected a bit more with the name (executive). The family room which I stayed in felt very out of date with the room not looking very nice with the walls, ceiling and curtains dirty. However the bathroom was nice, but the family rooms need a MAJOR makeover. Later in the evening I tried the pub food, to be honest for the price I expected a bit more than what I received. The food looked and tasted like basic pub food you could get anywhere and does not justify the price. The chicken took atleast 10 minutes longer than the other 4 mains so we were halfway done eating before the other main arrived, which ruined the experience a bit. The waiter or waitress could've let know it was going to be a delay as we had to call a waiter to ask about the chicken. In a professional establishment all food ordered together should come out together. The bed in the family room was nice and comfy. In the morning I had breakfast which was nothing special but it was nice, lots of choice of pastries and cold food and then the warm food was a full English. Disappointing. We arrived on an absolutely frigid day at midday and asked if we could check in. We were told no and that check in was not till 2pm. I learned later that the occupancy was light so I am sure they could have managed. When we did check in some assistance with baggage could have veen offered as there are no lifts. The public areas are lovely and characterful. The room we had booked was an above basic selection, nothing wrong with the room and it was well appointed however there was no drinking water, limited amenities, and compared to the rest of the hotel (lovely/characterful) it was clinical and without soul. Breakfast was poor, food was cold and had clearly been "held" in the kitchen. Limited offerings in terms of bread, local produce teas and coffee etc with offhand service. There was no recognition of loyalty. All in all I had hoped for a little better. Much could be achieved for very little cost, a little personalisation and some enthusiasm from the breakfast staff.

Solo lunch. Very pleasant helpful bar staff. Toasted Brie& chilli sandwich which came with salad & fries. V generous portion!

My husband and I have just returned from a weekend break at the Bull Great western hotel,On arrival staff very friendly,and helpful throughout stay, our stay very comfortable also enjoyed our time in peterborough lovely break

Honestly, not worth the price. Room was fine but breakfast was pretty disappointing (they hadn't even bothered to fill the juice dispensers until we asked). Restaurant was closed the night we visited and there was a reduced service generally. It may be better at other times but really would have expected them to communicate this to people before they booked. The pub that it's attached to is nice but just go for a drink.

I really loved this hotel. The staff helped me out when I was visiting the cathedral. I had a lovely light meal and drink in their bar. It's a very relaxing place to be … I will definitely go back

Excellent short break at the Bull Hotel. Good food, excellent attentive staff, nothing to much trouble. Clean room and Hotel. Would stay again.

Room 209 is next to a wetherspoons pub garden so very noisy till about midnight. Not great. It's also located a long distance from reception. Quite a few ceiling bulbs in the ceiling didn't work. Which was annoying in the evening. Toilet had issues of not flushing the waste away. And smelling. The new bar area is great and the location is perfect. Free parking is handy too. In our opinion it wasn't a 4 star.

We were there for a family wedding and the manager and his staff who were looking after us all afternoon were outstanding from start to finish. The food was amazing and a perfect amount! The afternoon was free flowing with no issues thanks to the Bull hotel team.

Went on a travel zoo deal for 2 nights. On arrival the whole frontage of hotel was scaffolding which filled me with dread, as my walk through Peterborough before checking in was an eye opener!! But the inside of the hotel was nice, bar cosy and room adequate, although was placed next to the stairwell, which was noisy at 5a.m!! Food was nice and staff friendly and helpful. If I was to have a grumble, it would be that after ordering a cocktail in the evening, the drink that arrived did not resemble what I had ordered. After speaking to the barlady she said she was sorry and showed me the instructions given to her by management to make them. I've never had a Singapore sling made with elderflower and prosecco!!! If you don't touch the cocktails, a pleasant evening. Only stayed one night instead of two - my choice.

Without any shadow of doubt the best hotel for miles, travelling with my work I get to visit many hotels and this is in the top 5 I use. Reception a pleasure to deal with, restaurant manager alla a Russian lady is always helpful and happy. Note to Andrew the bull manager you are so lucky that she works here. Please give it a try you won't be sorry.

Went for afternoon tea for our anniversary Was very disappointed with it Some of sandwiches was dried bread and cake with cherries in tasted burnt While we was there if we got asked how was it I would of said !!! Lot of money for what we got had much better for much less Shame as we was looking forward to it so much

We stayed at this hotel to attend an event and I have to say I would definitely stay here again. The room was exceptionally clean with a seriously comfortable bed, yes it was warm in the room but nothing that couldn't be solved by opening the windows. The main areas of the hotel were beautiful. The staff super helpful and friendly. Meals and drinks were reasonably priced for a four star hotel and everything we ate was excellent quality. I think the only thing I would complain about was trying to find the hotel car park, following the postcode supplied by the hotel sent us to a road that was a dead end, however I think had the road outside the hotel not been closed (not the hotels fault obviously) we would have found it a bit easier. Turns out the car park is on the dead end road, just the opposite side of the bollards, we got there in the end and had a wonderful stay in a beautiful hotel. Definitely recommend.

Located in the centre of Peterborough, opposite the Queensgate Shopping Centre, this is a very nice hotel. All the staff I encountered were polite, and the bar and reception staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was very clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was reasonable, and some items could be cooked to order. Bar food was nice too. Would stay again.

Great location in the centre of Peterborough, friendly reception, bar and food staff very accommodating and the food was good. Room comfortable and basically all you could ask for at a reasonable price. Breakfast can be busy but the staff look after you really well. I requested poached eggs which were brought directly to my table and an invite from the guy Daniel to accompany him to get the rest of the food on the plate to save time. Great experience..

Stayed here for one night on the 12th September with my mum and aunte... so happy with everything... room was clean (very friendly cleaner, petite blonde lady). Staff behind the bar were also friendly as were the reception and breakfast staff.. breakfast was delicious, well worth the money... the hotel was central located as well... could not ask for anymore... why anyone would find the need to complain about this hotel is beyound me... i suppose some people just like to moan...see u again next year.. thank you

I stay at this hotel quite a lot with work. It's always disappointing. The bar is okay to be fair but that's about it. The room keys are temperamental and you have to get them reset all the time. The parking tickets are just as temperamental meaning. You have to park the car and go back on for a reset. It got a bit tiring to be honest and I feel like the reception guys are a bit fed up of helping me. The food is ok but nothing to shout about. There is a Wetherspoons just across the road who do a better breakfast for less money. The rooms are so hot it's uncomfortable! They are small, no air conditioning and terrible window arrangements. It's like An old folks home. There are fans in the room but if it's warm weather avoid this hotel. I don't recommend and there are much better places available for less money.
