"Budget Friendly Hotel in the Hammond Area"

I stayed in this Best Western while in the Hammond area for business. I typically stay down the road in the other hotels but decided to give this Best Western a shot for a three-night stay. The hotel is a good choice for a budget-friendly stay. The staff was accommodating when I checked in and they recognized my Best Western status. The hotel overall is a bit dated and could use an update, however, my room was clean and large and I got a good sleep. The decor in the rooms like the rest of the hotel is dated and could be upgraded. As a business traveller, there are many places to plug in your devices, and connection to wifi was seamless. The wi-fi signal was very strong and I had no issues connecting multiple devices to the wi-fi. The fitness center was below my standards as some of the equipment didn't even work, and not only that, the equipment was limited. The fitness center could use an overhaul. Overall a problem-free stay in a budget-friendly Best Western

The room was clean, the refrigerator was NOT and the caulking in the bathroom (room 324) needs to be redone in one corner. Check-in took forever and when I left early morning and asked for a receipt, she refused to give me one claiming I paid for it online... umm yes; that's the way 95% off my room reservations are and NOT EVER have I had a problem getting a receipt. The place was clean and didn't smell like smoke or any weird orders. We were pleasantly surprised and were happy with the hotel overall. 4 stars given because these two things need to be taken care of to make it 5-star experiences.

I stay there a weekend. I wouldn't recommend to anyone, I have had stay there a few years ago and the stay was great, it was clean and very well kept. But this particular weekend which Sept 9, 10th of 2022, when I went to check in I notice a sign that checked was at 4pm but I was there at 3pm ish. So when I rang for the clerk which he was in the back, he came up and I asked him if I check in now would be charger extra, he didn't say anything just check me in. As we proceed to the room and as I soon I open the door there was an odor smell like mildew or pet urine more of pet urine. I kinda figured it would go away after I turned on the A/C but it didn't. I didn't want to go ask for another room, due the the fact that I didn't feel safe with the kind of people hanging around in the hall ways. I do appreciate that they are a pet friendly hotel, but they should make one floor or section so that those room can be used for them and not let others without pet stay in those room, due to the smells. The second we came back to the room our beds were made and my back on the pillow covers were stain with brown stuff, so I decided to sleep on the other bed with the other person, besides the stains there were long hair on the sheets, which I can't stand and it's grosses me out. There was paint peeling off the ceiling an a big patch of plaster on the ceiling as well.

I am very sorry to hear about your recent experience at the Best Western NW Indiana Inn. You certainly did not receive the level of care and cleanliness that we pride ourselves on. I wish you had contacted the Front Desk as soon as you entered your room. You would have been provided another room immediately. It sounds as though your room was updated in the system without it being completely inspected and released. We have been very busy, and our hotel has been occupied by guests who are doing work at nearby industries. Our guests come from all over the world, and are primarily male. I know this can be disconcerting to a female traveler. If you ever travel again, and have this experience again, please contact the desk by phone and let them know how you fee. The Front Desk is equipped to provide service. A new room would have been assigned, and staff would have brought you the keys and escorted your baggage to the new room. You would have had a much more comfortable stay. It is our goal to service the traveling public well. I hope you will consider this an isolated incident, and will give us another opportunity to serve you, whenever your travel plans bring you to NW Indiana. Again, please accept my apologies on behalf of the hotel and our staff.

Had a great stay with my wife. Check-in went very smoothly. The Hotel, itself was very clean, as were the rooms. My wife loved the shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Great breakfast and coffee too!! We'll definitely be back again.

room was clean and everything was in working order. We had a small dog with us. The pet rooms are on the south end of the property. There is parking, an entrance and green space at the south end of the property which was very convenient for having a pet. Breakfast was ok. Staff was friendly.

The only negative was the lack of other businesses close by. No restaurants etc. and the roads close by, to and from are in real bad shape. The breakfast was better than expected and opened at 5:30. That was a great help.

Overall the hotel was clean and comfortable it definitely needs updated and brought into this day and age. Paid new hotel prices when there were newer ones right down the street. The breakfast was very minimal and not serviced they were out of a lot of stuff.

Radiance was so amazing!!! We booked through TripAdvisor and then also accidentally got charged a second time at the hotel. Radiance was EXTREMELY helpful in getting us out money back and was so nice and accommodating! Otherwise Hotel was pretty nice. We had a good experience because we had the dog with us. A little run down in places and the outside was pretty dirty. But overall a worthwhile stay. Good breakfast.

Room cleanliness and breakfast were disappointing to say the least especially compared to a previous stay here a few months before. Breakfast was excellent last time including choices, amounts, and quality of food. This time I would have been more pleased to skip complimentary breakfast and eat elsewhere down the road. None of the issues of complaint were present last visit.

I was in E. Chicago on business and due to proximity, selected Best Western, I was not let down. My room was exceptionally clean and well prepared. The property although i going minor cleaning and repair was exceptional, good lighting and adequate parking (The parking lot is a little rough - and that is the single negative). Check in / Check out was outstanding and the representatives were extremely courteous. I was not able to enjoy the ammenties given my schedule, but plan to on my next stay. Located about a mile from the main road, you will find everything you need for a good nights rest or extended lodging right here. I regularly stay in hotels due to my business and this location was a welcome surprise.

Overall my stay here was a very pleasant one. Every staff I had encountered from check in to checkout was very friendly, polite, as well as professional. My room could've been a bit more clean (compared to other BW Brand hotels) The location was a bit intimidating due to how long the road took to get to the property. I'd advise arriving during daylight. I'd stay here again

We needed to travel for family reasons. Found this property to be an excellent choice. we have a dog and sometimes that can pose a problem. The fees are reasonable and the policy typical. Room was clean and beds comfortable. The flooring is a bit strange, being a vinyl instead of carpet, but did not ruin the overnight stay experience.

There was only one Staff member at both check in and check out, both requiring a wait of over 10 min. Although they were both lovely and represent the brand well. The first room was adequate in space but hadn't been vacuumed. A child's shoe was by the door, food crumbs were in numerous places, there was a hair tie and misc on the floor, and even the toilet had toothpaste on it. It made me feel very uncomfortable that the rooms were properly cleaned. We were moved to another room in the back that smelled of mould, with visible water damage on walls and windows. Each bed was comfortable enough but with only two weird square pillows. The bedding included a blanket that I didn't feel comfortable could be clean enough. Breakfast was only available from 6-8am.

Very nice place. Extremely well maintained. We were able to take our dog which was fantastic. Convenient location for us to meet up with our family. We were in town for a funeral and needed a late check which was offered with a smile.

Great place to stay! The rooms were very clean and spacious and the staff was great! You won't be sad when you choose this hotel. Hot breakfast with real bacon. Comfortable beds. I had a reservation at another hotel but Hotels.com overbooked so I checked into this hotel because it was the only available in the area. While not the most convenient to get to from the highway (long winding road), I was pleasantly surprised. Front desk check-in was fast and room was really nice. Will definitely stqay again.

We stayed at this hotel for a single night on a road trip. We booked it last-minute but weren't disappointed with our choice and it was easy to get to right off the highway. The location was near many restaurants within a short driving distance as well; not much within walking distance though, if any. The hotel was well-kept and you can tell that they continue to update it. Everything was clean and as expected with the room. The breakfast there was great for a free breakfast. There were plenty of choices (Eggs, bacon, potatoes, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, etc) and plenty of seating as well.

My new favorite in the area! Very nice, clean, quiet and comfortable hotel. Excellent appearance inside and out. I had a regular king room surprisingly large, even had a chair with tv/work table. Beautiful lobby is just the beginning, the breakfast area hallways and rooms are just as good. Comfortable beds, everything looks new, great amenities. Restaurant has good food, breakfast was good. They even have a pancake machine push a button and it makes pancakes and drops them on a plate! Convenient to the interstate and Chicago. All around great stay. I'll definitely be back!

This hotel was definitely newly renovated with a contemporary style. Everything was clean and wonderful. We stopped here on our way to Wisconsin from NY - so after a long drive it was a pleasant stay. The best feature for us is that they allow dogs. They have pet friendly rooms so not all rooms allow dogs but we reserved a pet friendly room in advance so we were all set. The staff was friendly as well. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. They had a wonderful breakfast as well. The breakfast area also looked brand new and was very clean. There was a large variety of hot and cold options. They had eggs, home fries, make your own waffles and pancakes, etc. Plus they had Soy milk available in the refrigerator - this was great for me as I try to stay away from dairy. This was truly a wonderful stay and you can tell they have good management. Most hotels that allow dogs are run down and not ones that we would want to stay in. We will definitely be back,

Had an excellent stay. The room was immaculate and up-to-date. Fridge and microwave in the room. They are a dog friendly hotel. The flooring was an vinyl that looked like carpet. Very clean. It was quiet and staff were friendly. The breakfast was fantastic-better than I expected!

To many people hang around this hotel outside after dark, drinking smoking yelling kids running all over. Don't make you feel so safe. The room had been smoked in an they tried to kill the smell but it still stunk like old socks and smoke.

This is an excellent Inn. We had to make a last minute cancellation of a Best Western reservation in Madison, WI, and Best Western provided a full refund of that reservation and assisted in making the Hammond reservation for the same night.

"Don't Stay Here"

Only people that were nice was the front desk check in girl on day of arrival, check in lady during breakfast, and housekeeping lady April. Everyone else, including the PATEL lady who was the owner was rude. My husband informed me that our vehicle that was being serviced would take an extra day to be repaired because they had to order part. I immediately notified the front desk that we had to stay another day due to this and my husband would be there in just a few min to pay using company card. They told me no, it's 11:55 am and check out is 12 noon. You need check out now and sit in lobby and we will give you key back to the room once he is here. He was literally 4.9 miles away. The owner was rude as well. We called our company and they said they would call and let them know my husband was on his way to pay with company card and they would give a company code. It still didn't change their minds. So rude all the things they said to me was and is unacceptable. The night before, the sheets on bed had stains on them. I went downstairs to ask for new sheets and I took the dirty ones to front desk. The guy at front desk rudely stated, "I am NOT touching those. Take them back upstairs." I would not send a dog to stay here after this treatment. When my husband got here, I told him I was ready to leave ASAP.

I am so very sorry that you had such a poor experience during your stay. It is particularly difficult when you are here during the summer, when extended checkout times are not always available, due to demand of arrivals coming in on your checkout dates. It sounds like there were several communication issues during your stay. We did allow you a one o'clock checkout, before you were asked to exit your room. We have a strict pet policy, and apparently we were unaware you had a dog with you, and were placed in a non pet room. Pet rooms are every bit as nice as non pet rooms, but we make the distinction for very specific reasons. Pet rooms have a floor that is easier for the guest to clean up, after a mistake, or our staff to clean up after a check out. Pet rooms designated as such, mean that a pet allergic human, does not have to experience a reaction by entering a regular room, that has been used by a pet family. This is an awful experience for our human guest. Because you did not inform us of your pet, and apparently did not plan to inform us, your stay put other guests at risk. I am sorry if your encounter with the GM Dipti Patel on the elevator made you uncomfortable. I am sure she asked you very pointed questions about which room you had just left, and had you had your dog in that room. I can understand why you may have felt she was rude, just as I am sure, she felt you had not been honest with our staff. The front desk, in informing you that 1 pm was the latest check out they could give you, was just following hotel policy. Your husbands company never called the desk to inform them you would be extended another day. Believe me, it is much easier to get a call with method of payment, than it is to remove a non paying guest from a room. Our staff would have welcomed such a call, and informed you that you were extended another day. We would have asked you to move to an appropriate room however, and you would have had to pay the additional charges associated with traveling pet ownership at our location. Again, I am so very sorry you were disappointed. That is certainly not the impression we want our guests to have. We have welcomed, successfully, Truck City guests for several years now, without the difficulties you had. I suspect that communication was the key here, and we both may have failed on that score. I came from Texas on business working away from home. Missing my family and missing being with them. Depressed and sad. Having to be so far away was killing me inside. But the staff here made me feel right at home. Friendly and knowledge staff members Megan, Andy, Alexis and Teresa made me feel at home. Super friendly and sweet people. I would love to let corporate know just how lucky they really are to have a staff like that. Thank you so much for helping me through everything and my depression has done a 360. I can't wait to bring my sweet wife and beautiful kids here next time I'll be in town. I loved the experience here. Each of those employees deserve a huge raise.

This is a very clean hotel. The staff is friendly and the beds are clean and comfortable. We had 2 queens and it was a comfortably large room. There was a frig and microwave and lots of hot water in the shower.

1st room was under construction, 2nd room full of smoke, 3rd room just OK. Not the cleanest hotel. Being remolded but very dusty and windows so dirty you could not see out of them. All room details were dirty that I had to take wipes and clean everything we touched. Pub convenient but extremely noisy with construction workers that were very loud. AAA need to reevaluate 3 stars on this one. Towels and wash cloth were like sand paper, terrible.

Very Pleasant Stay 2 times in past 12 months at the same Hotel. will stay here again, Hotel just completed an Update and the new Rooms looks very Nice. close to interstate and easy to find , friendlier front desk staff and breakfast had a wide selection of Items , they also had pre made bags for breakfast to go which was a great add on , I did not use that service but its always good to know that its available.

I was there for a business trip. Everything was perfect! Room was clean, big and comfortable. Breakfast I had allot of healthy options. They even had a bar on site......score!! Staff was super friendly and extremely helpfully. I forgot the base for my charger and front desk let me borrow his.

This place is for you! Seriously though, it's disgusting. The whole place reeks of cigarette smoke and it's supposed to be a smoke free hotel. Management should be fired immediately. The staff are pretty much all inept. Check in guy screwed up so many times. While i was trying to check in, one of the hotel cleaners was trying to get the checkin guy's attention to "break a dollar". This hotel feels like it's run by 6 year olds. Best Western, you have fallen far.......

Nice clean rooms, helpful staff at check in and at the lounge. I would recommend staying at this hotel. It is not the easiest location. I did not use the outside pool. It looked nice. Would have been better if they had bacon at breakfast

Updated decor but still out dated needing work, dark halls one elevator for 4 floors, stairs were dark and dirty. Windows in the room could be open and were dirty. Will not allow you to enter for breakfast until you are a verified guest and I think this is due largely to it being located next to a Motel 6 which was a little seedy. Towels are rough more like rags but clean ( I think). One of my rooms was not cleaned or towels replaced, when we called to ask for at least clean towels we were told if we brought the wet dirty ones we could have clean ones. Another of my rooms requested more towels and was told need to verify I was a guest and then I could come and get them. Would not suggest this hotel and will not stay again. Here for a reunion entire family stayed and used the banquest hall felt like a criminal and not a guest. Hotel appears to be used by individuals who are on a work force camp waiting for a bus for transport to and from work felt unsafe with little children. Never again

After a 12-hour stay at the nearby casino my boyfriend and I were exhausted and didn't really want to drive back to Chicago. We found a Motel 6 that was our original destination but when I noticed a Best Western next door we immediately changed our minds! I'm glad we did! From the moment we entered their lobby I knew we made the right choice! Their front desk staff has service with a smile! He was really friendly and courteous! I couldn't expect more with the room -- comfy bed (and pillows) clean carpeting and housekeeping even checked in on us to see if we needed any additional services or items!!! Check out was a breeze; and just like the check in staff the check out staff was nothing but the best! They were genuinely concerned about how our stay was. This was by far the best hotel stay I've had this year! There's no doubt in my mind I'll be back!

My stay at this hotel was pleasant and I would select it again. The rooms were clean and the staff for the most part were friendly and helpful. My bad experience was when I received very dirty silverware when I ordered dinner at the hotel restaurant. Also, the price for a class of wine from the bar was higher than the listed menu price according to the woman who waited my restaurant table. I decided not to eat dinner their restaurant anymore.

I travel 6 days a week and stay in many hotels all over the country. I have never been refused a glass of milk. I asked for a glass of milk so I could have breakfast in the morning. I leave for work before they start serving their free breakfast. I was told they didn't have any. When I mentioned the breakfast area always has some, I was told she couldn't give me any of that. I had to get it in the morning. I was told I had to go to the restaurant to buy a $2 glass of milk. The room smelled musty. Recently remodeled. The comforter is more like a well worn blanket covered by a sheet. I was not expecting 5 star, but you get what you pay for here. Minus the hospitality.

My flight into Midway airport was delayed 4 fours because of weather. I didn't arrive at the hotel until well after midnight with no reservation. The gentleman at the desk went above and beyond . He even carried my bags to my room for me. The hotel is newly renovated and was very clean and quiet. Would definitely stay again.

Hard by I 80 on a street with a gentlemen's club and a tire warehouse, we found the property to be an oasis. Fast internet, confortable beds, and space to set up our dog crate made the stay ok; the nice staff made our stay easy and relaxing. Yes, it's dog-friendly. But one can hear when a dog barks.

The location is great on the way to Chicago from the south. Needless to say, it is a lot cheaper than the hotels in downtown Chicago. The room was clean and quiet, and the beds were comfortable. The included breakfast was excellent with lots of varieties. The staff was friendly. There is a long winding road to get there but it is not a problem with GPS.

After a few days on the road and several squishy mattresses, this medium firm one was a relief. The motel is new, well kept, comfortable. A bit of a round-about to get to from the interstate, good value. It's a nonsmoking motel but our room reeked, front desk gave us an odor-free room and a note to housekeeping, who'd been remiss.

Service is top notch. Lots of potholes Access to freeways require u turns and such. Nice place to stay on business or pleasure. There was some construction noise throughout our stay. However, the Carpenters did their best to minimize it. No needless hammering. The place could use a few more washers and dryers but this is a minor concern.

The hotel is almost finished being fully remodeled and it's great, from the outside to the inside. Rooms are very modern, simple and clean. New fitness center is awesome. Free breakfast and on-site restaurant/lounge. Seasonal outdoor pool. Another nice feature is the 24/7 Sundry shop. The new blinds in the room are the best I've seen in a hotel. Roll down with a sunshade or a blackout option, great for afternoon naps. The staff is great and the property feels very secure. I've been staying here for years and the transformation is incredible. Keep up the good work and see you again soon.

Another massive remodel almost complete. Big changes to the whole building including a new lounge and FREE breakfast. Restaurant has been completely changed and is much nicer. Clean modern rooms, security cameras inside and out for added protection. I wish the breakfast was better but it's not to bad. I've been staying here for years and it just keeps getting better. I've always felt safe and never had any issues. Little bit hard to find because the turn onto the service road is about 1 mile down Cline Ave then it's about a mile back down the service road to the driveway.

The only positive thing about the "hotel" is the staff. Let's talk about the breakfast. Let's just say eggs aren't supposed to be gritty. Are real eggs that expensive? I was there for almost a month and the first week was rough because of the remodeling. My A.C. was making a noise that made me think is was going to explode. It was replaced...... with an A.C. That made a slightly less annoying sound. I think they play 3 card Monty with the A.C. units. Oh and the fridge in my room wasn't working and it was replaced..... with one that would freeze then thaw, then freeze again. Honestly I don't blame the hotel, I blame the company for putting its employees in such a hotel. I firmly believe you get what you pay for.

Visited Chicago and headed East; looked for a bargain hotel for the night. Room was before par for a BW in terms of cleanliness, and a less than pleasant smell, but other than that it met our needs. Don't come here for the location, it's inconveniently located down a long side road to the highway right next to a Super 8 and a strip club ("The Fantasy Gentleman's Club"). Directly on the highway, so very noisy, coupled with the extensive renovation that's taking place at the moment... The hallways are LONG...and we had a room at the very end; there is access out to parking at the end of the building, but no card access to get you back into the building. We simply blocked the door while loaded our car. If you're looking for cheap, and they offer a sub $90 rate, this would fit the bill for this area, but I wouldn't pay more...

Our room was not pleasant. It felt "humid" and smelled like my grandparents' basement. The room need a Dehumidifier, desperately. The hotel was going through improvements but the rooms. The breakfast area not very inviting.

Although this hotel is still undergoing renovations, there simply isn't much care for the overall maintenance or cleanliness. The renovated public areas show a great deal of wear and tear from worn furniture to scratched paint marks, stains on flooring, and cracks in the ceiling. Upon entry to our room, the lights did not turn on by the switch and there were stains on the desk and tale, worn furniture, and ceiling cracks. The outlets are so large nothing stayed plugged in. Rooms had a small refrigerator and microwave, single coffee brewer, and in room safe and the fastest internet I've ever experienced.

We were looking for a reasonable cost place to stay doing a trip, and the property meet our criteria; Free internet, nice rooms (recently remodeled), restaurant and free breakfast. The restaurant is under renovation, but it is obvious that at least the first floor was well attended to with renovations and updating. There is also a well-attended pool (we saw numerous guests walking outside to the pool), but we did not check it out.

Thank you for your positive response to our hotel. We are currently in the process of reworking the entire public space on the first floor. Our Pub has moved adjacent to the restaurant. This will allow our evening guests to enjoy their meal with drinks, and eliminate the wait time. In addition we have created new spaces; an area where coffee is available, and guests can sit and enjoy their wait in the lobby. Our business center is moving to the lobby area, and we have created a beautifully appointed space for a Free Hot Breakfast. This will be a hot breakfast, with a build your own yogurt buffet and build you own oatmeal buffet. Our guests have been asking for a breakfast for awhile, and we listened. Our guests, I believe, will find these changes exciting. The breakfast area will have outlets for you to charge your phone while eating. There will be many choices from cereal to eggs and sausage. Our rooms will also have all new furniture, carpeting and wall finishes. We are very excited about the things we can offer our guests. Thank you for your review.

I travel a lot for business and pleasure. I normally find little things wrong and they don't bother me, but this time a lot of things bothered me. I would have been better off at the Motel 6 next door. I was looking for a place that had a pool and a place to have a couple of drinks after being outside for 9 hours a day and not have to drive back to my hotel so I selected Best Western. I wish they would have told me their bar was under rennovation before I booked. I left in the morning and informed the front desk that I had about 300 aunts in my bathroom and the toilet didn't flush and was flowing at the top of rim. The front desk told me maintenance would get on that. I came back at 7 pm and their were still ants in my bathroom and the toilet did not work. I went to the front desk to let them know and they told me there was nothing they could do because maintenance was gone for the day. So I stood their and he said nothing else, so I said " so this means I can't use the bathroom at all tonight", and the guy at the front desk agreed with me. I stood there and yet he said nothing else, then I suggested, " could I possible get another room". I felt I was inconveniencing him from his busy doing nothing just sitting there. He then gave me a new room with no, I'm sorry about this or that. He just handed me a new key and said nothing and went back to sitting on his chair doing nothing. I would really like a refund for my stay. I could have saved $120 staying at the motel 6 next door and had better service.

Nice place, stayed only 1 night with my 2 kids. Quiet, near the highway and 30 minutes to downtown Chicago. The area the hotel is located in is a little industrial but if you are just sleeping here its just fine. Great outdoor pool, clean inside and out. I would stay here again if I had to.

The guest rooms and the service were very good. It felt like there was no A/C in the halls or elevator. Would stay here again. Walls were very thin; I could here things in the guest rooms while walking in the hall.

I am so sorry that you felt the walls were thin. We are actually cinder block construction, no wood, so most people find our rooms quiet. Sometimes the guests can be heard through the door. If that is the case , you can always contact the desk, and our staff will ask the offending guest to quiet down. Even though we installed a separate A/C for hallways, I too sometimes find it hot in the Summer months. Best Regards,

Booked this hotel as its right off the interstate and the price was right, located in an industrial area reachable by a poorly paved access road, but the front desk staff reported there is 24 hour security and the desk is open 24 hrs, so we stayed. Hotel is older, our room had been nicely renovated, renovations continuing near the lobby. There were signs apologizing for the noise and dust, but we didn't see any! The older design was nice, all rooms far from the elevator, walls thick- we had a very quiet night. The beds were comfortable, the linens and towels very good quality, and the room super-clean. One of the reviews suggested asking for a pool view room which we did- the pool and pool area looked very nice. We were leaving very early to get through Chicago, but the coffee bar in the lobby is replenished all 24 hours and a "Grab n Go" breakfast is available at 6 am. There are several restaurants at the other end of the access road (we went to Cracker Barrel when we got in). There is a hotel restaurant but we didn't use it. Hope they do well so the whole hotel can go no-smoking. Our room had no odor but the hotel corridor had a faint cigarette smoke smell. The housekeeping staffer we met was very nice and the place looks very clean. We will stay again.

SUPER CLEAN facility. SUPER quiet for sleeping (my room was right next to the elevators and sound did not affect). You will not hear the nearby busy expressway. Super comfy beds and pillows. Pristine clean bed and bath linens. Shower curtains are changed every day! Flat screen TV with excellent reception and great movie channels. This property is undergoing some renovations which did not affect my stay. The restaurant was in a temporary state of affairs but you can still get breakfast and dinner. Free coffee is available adjacent to the front desk. My hat's off to this management. Housekeeping and front desk staffers are excellent. Thank you to front desk staffer Megan for all her kind, courteous, and professional help. Will definitely choose this hotel again.

This was the end of a business trip, I couldn't make it all the way to my destination by the end of the day so this Best Western was my choice because it was close to the freeway. The location of the hotel is very inconvenient to get to and the number of restaurants in the area is very limited. Best Western is almost always a good stop, why they built a hotel in this area is beyond me.

"Not too happy"

They are remodeling. When I checked in I was told breakfast will be in the restaurant from 6-10. I went to the restaurant at 8:30 and it was closed.. Doesn't seem like it was ever opened.I woke up to loud banging Im assuming from the remodeling. I was told the pool opens at 9am. I was there at 9 and it was not open. I had to go to the front desk and they had to call someone to go open it at 9:15. I was on a road trip and limited on time this didn't work out good for me. I wouldn't stay again. Room was clean. Pool was clean.. You have to get towels from the front desk you will find that out after you are already at the pool

"Excellent stay"

For business reasons, I've been at the Best Western for more than 2 weeks. The hotel is currently under renovation. As a consequence the main restaurant and bar are closed. The hotel is keeping the kitchen going through its conference room. In all other respects the hotel has been great. They keep the place as clean as humanly possible. The pool and grounds are always neat. The housekeeping staff are pleasant and responsive. All in all they have made my time here quite pleasant and not a distraction from my job.

"The WORST hotel I have ever stayed in"

We were forced to stay in this hotel for a 16U girls' softball tournament because the tournament sponsor assigned us to this location. It was the worst experience I have ever had. There are prostitutes that come in and out of this hotel servicing men in rooms and in their vehicles in the parking lot. The hotel is located in a crime ridden location - on a frontage road next to a Motel 6 and a few doors down from a strip club. There is nothing on this frontage road for one mile until you reach an abandoned building, then the strip club, another hotel, the Motel 6, then the Best Western. The prostitutes that I saw were dressed for work at 8AM. One serviced a customer in a pickup truck right behind my vehicle as our team was checking out and loading up our cars. She got out of his pickup truck and into one of two vehicles in the hotel's parking lot. These cars appeared to be her pimps' cars. These hookers were walking through the hotel being ignored by staff. I complained to the manager of this property, and she said that they do not allow prostitution, but I encouraged her to review the video footage because she and/or her staff are turning a blind eye to what is going on in their hotel. I am very upset that she accepted an offer by our softball association to have 15 and 16 year old girls stay in her hotel knowing the location was not appropriate for these teenagers. When I told her that I am appalled to have spent $150 to stay in this hotel, her reply was that they keep the rates high in an attempt to keep the prostitutes out. When I pointed out then that she admitted to hookers being a problem in her area, she replied that “yes” they were aware of the issues in their area. I called Best Western Corporate Customer Service - they were not helpful either. I will be contacting the CEO, and it is my goal that I get the word out to everyone that this is not a safe location. There is a lot of activity on the 1st floor of this hotel - men staying in these rooms, coming in and out, gawking at our teenagers. I believe the hotel puts these guys there for easy in and out access. It seemed to me and to the other parents that most of the activity was happening after a night of partying at the strip club. It was the very first time in all of my travels with our softball team that none of the parents allowed their girls to hang out in the lobby or walk through the halls on their own. Much like the other reviews have said, the hotel reeked of cigarette smoke which I also complained about. That honestly was the least of my worries while we were there. I will write bad reviews about this hotel on every website until the Best Western in Hammond, IN attempts to make it right with me. I realize that the manager cannot change the location of the hotel, but she can attempt to make her customers feel better about the Best Western hotel chain by compensating those customers that complain about an experience like this. Even if she has not witnessed the prostitution herself, I should not have been charged for this stay. She was wrong by inviting young girls to stay in this location, and she is wrong if she believes that this is not happening in this hotel. THE BOOKING AGENCY THAT ASSIGNED US TO THIS HOTEL AND THE SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION HAS REMOVED THIS HOTEL FROM THE LIST OF PROPERTIES THAT THEY REQUIRE TEAMS TO STAY AT DURING TOURNAMENTS!!!! PLEASE DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL!!!

I am sorry for the inconvenience you feel you faced while staying at our hotel. I spoke to you regarding your complaint over the phone the very next day. We have many guests who stay with us and the group of people you saw could have been staying with going concerts or events in the area and how they dress does not make them prostitutes. We are located right off the highway and have been here for more then 50 years. Other businesses on our street came well after that. We are in a country where free enterprise still exist. We have had many teams stay with us in the past and we have never had any problems with stay. We are a hotel and people stay the hotels for many reasons just like you traveling through or working in the area. These men are also have families. Once again we apologize.

"What a nightmare!"

This really is the nightmare that the other reviews mention. I have been placed here by my company for a few weeks while I am working in town. When I checked in I was refused my rewards points because my "company does not pay enough for the room per night" The hotel is dirty is still undergoing cheap low-ball bid renovation (and it shows). The ceiling in my room is cracked with a water stain. The wall paper is stained. The other day I noticed that a stained cloth I threw on the floor was placed FOLDED BACK ON THE RACK! Days after arriving I started noticing bites on my legs and I had no idea where they were coming from. After returning from the work site a few days ago I sat on the bed and to take my shoes off and smudged dirt from my pant leg onto the sheet. I figured, oops, its life and left the cover down and slept in the other bed. My room has been made up 3 times since and the same sheets are still on the bed! All around, there seems to be poor management and it shows. The employees talk in the "restaurant" about how the delays are in the construction in the actual bar and restaurant and how it should in "July but now probably August". The food itself it is not meant to be fed to an animal. Some of the employees complain about the management while we wait because its so slow (even though we are usually the only people in there) and when it does come out its simply slop. The pub and eatery are both relocated into the conference room. The few menus they have never been cleaned and are all sticky, same with the tables. The prices are stupid high and it seems like everything has been sitting in the freezer for ages. Yesterday while the waitress' toddler ran around the tables and in and out of the kitchen she said that certain things they have on the menu are not available due to the fact the manager doesn't want to stock more than the minimums due to cost. Sounds and tastes like the they use every bit to serve whether it is good or spoiled. After dinner its back to work, on the computer, but the wifi is painfully slow and keeps dropping. I was forced to use my phone to post this review. When this is over I told my boss I would pay for myself to use another hotel when I had to come back to the area. It amazes me that rooms go for $99 during the week and $136 on the weekend and breakfast isn't even included! Its nowhere worth it! Management is cutting every corner they can but still charging premium! JUST RUN THE OTHER WAY!

I am sorry for inconvenience you faced while staying at the hotel. While you were staying with us for 10 days we did our best to accommodate you by offering to switch room. We are under construction and our restaurant is moved into the meeting room to accommodate our guests. We have the lounge closed until we are done with our lounge. We are renovating our hotel to give our guests better experience. We order twice a week in the restaurant so no we are not our of anything. "Nice Hotel, but..."

The hotel looks great from the exterior and was nice. Breakfast was good and the staff was friendly and helpful. The issue we had was the quality of the pet friendly rooms. For over $200 Canadian per night I would expect a nice room. The room was adequate, but dark and not value for the price.

"The hotel that stinks"

The first room the cable did not work. The employee gave us another room that smelled of mildew, had plastic on the window, and construction workers working outside our window in the morning. Another employee told us that the pool was not avaliable until the holiday. The manager said that the pool was avaliable at that time. Also, the lounge was not avaliable, but we do not drink anyway. The manager named Dippi said that it was my misconception to think that there would be a pool table because I saw pictures of one in their advertisement pictures. The pool table is also mentioned in the amenities. She also started yelling on the phone. A horrible experience. I wanted two days to make up for the two horrible days and did not receive it.

This Hotel is easy off and on interstate 80&94, in Hammond Indiana. Its only about 25 miles from the Chicago city line. This makes it a great place to stay that's not in the city. It's VERY safe and clean. Great pool. The staff were all out standing in all ways.

"Missed the breakfast that peice should of included"

As a working crew that does a lot of work in this area its great to have friendly staff, a clean good size room and good location to the job. But its also very important to have access to a quick breakfast with simple but health food assortment. This Best Western Hotel did not have the Breakfast we needed and our day of work starts too early ,plus extra time is needed to do breakfast in a restraunt

I really enjoyed lodging at this hotel it was a great stay I felt safe. I did have minor problems with the vending machine but the staff took care of the issue. This hotel was a bit of a drive from where I was visiting but it was well worth the drive. No major problems I will definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this hotel to others. Please keep up the good work!

Stopping here as a pit stop for our honeymoon, they placed an $85 hold on my card without any prior notice. The next morning a maintenance smelled smoke on me in the hallway (I had just came in from the car), instantly accused us of smoking in the room, ended up calling me a liar and went to the front desk where they upped the charge to $250! He never once entered the room. Needless to say, our limited budget was shot and honeymoon trip ruined. Thanks Best Western! Never Again!

Let me start out by saying that a Best Western would not be my first choice to spend the night at. I had many negative preconceived notions of what my one night stay here would be like. I can safely say that the night was uneventful which is what I was hoping for. The bed was comfortable, I had full control of the air conditioner, the room and bathroom were both clean, the tv had nothing good to watch, the other patrons were quiet, the staff was friendly and the price tag was great. Would I stay here again? I am up to a solid maybe. I still have my favored hotel chain but if I could not get into it then this place will work just fine.

I have stayed at this Best Western a lot of times... Rooms are always great, clean, very big... Out side doors all lock to keep the bad guys out at night and the day time....Outside pool that is really, really nice in the summer time. They keep it clean an nice... Prices are great.... only like 30 miles from downtown Chicago....

We have stayed here several times and we are always very pleased. The rooms have always been clean and the beds very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I know breakfast is not included but the attached restaurant makes a tasty meal.

"Quiet off the road"

We had a room quite a ways away from the front of the hotel, which provided a quiet room with no road traffic noise. Sheets and towels were clean although we noticed the wall coverings pealing off in the bedroom and bathroom.

Great Front Desk Staff! Restaurant staff is fast and friendly. Food is hot, tasty, and fresh. Restaurant prices are wonderful...breakfast for party of 9....check under $40! Breakfast was bountiful! Overall great hotel experience.

"Not what I Expected"

I checked in after driving over 16 hours today. I am very disappointed. So disappointed that I am taking the 5 minutes away from my sleep to write this. The room is awful. It is vert filthy. If the room was well taken care of like the lobby, it might be halfway decent. Below is what I encountered within the first 10 minutes: -Spider webs all over the ceiling -Foul odor -Dirty floor -Night stand wasnt cleaned at all(sticky residue) -Wallpaper peeling and wrinkling -Holes in wallpaper -Hair(previous guest) in bed, tub, and all over bathroom floor -Wall lamps dirty all around the buttons used ro turn on -Toilet doesn't flush properly -Sink faucet neck is to short so it's difficult to wash hands -Dresser dirty -Towel holder is dusty, dirty, & rusty -Pillow cases are dirty or stained -Phone dirty I spent at least 10 minutes trying to make the room tolerable to get some sleep and keep from loading back up and looking for another room. I do plan on speaking to a manager first thing. I took pictures just incase. This is really ridiculous.

Stayed here with a friend on a business trip. The area seems a little rough but the hotel was very nice. (There is a Gentlemen's Club a couple of doors away.) The common areas were clean & attractive. I would stay here again. The location is close to anything in Highland.

This hotel has to be in the top 10 of Best Western Hotels ..Clean, great outside pool. All the help are so nice. The price is very good also. The place is outstanding inside and out. Not that far from Chicago and great beaches.

Easy on and off the highway. Staff was polite, friendly and helpful. Room was clean. The staff allowed us to park our two motorcycles under the awning where they could be seen by the staff at all times. The only downside was the lack of a free continental breakfast. There is a restaurant on site where you can purchase breakfast, but we chose not to do that.

"A Wonderful Respite"

My wife and I were driving back home and reached our limit on driving and found the Hammond location still had vacancies. Though the hotel is a bit difficult to find off the interstate due to a rather "dark and winding road" -- it was a wonderful respite for us. The staff was very accommodating and helpful as we looked for a place to find a late meal. Though they do not serve a free breakfast, the hotel does have a restaurant on site that is available. I was pleased that they extended a breakfast voucher for us since I am a Diamond club member. I plan to stop at this location in the coming travels and would recommend the location to others.

I travel to the Chicago area and have been looking for a hotel out away from the city. This is it. Great pool, fitness center and an awesome free breakfast. This hotel is clean and the rooms are nicely appointed. the pillow top bed seemed like it was brand new. I will be staying here on my next visit to the Chicago area.
