"An interesting stay"

I have mixed feelings about staying here because on paper everything was fine e.g. it was clean and spacious but my personal point of view was that I didn't like staying here and I think it was because of the room I stayed in. The staff are very friendly but I did say twice that my room was cold. The person on the reception area was very apologetic but they did say that the area manager would be arriving on duty soon (it was approaching 6pm when they said this). I went out for dinner because I'm vegan and they didn't have anything I could have at the hotel. When I arrived back after eating out the area manager hadn't arrived and didn't sort out my radiator all night but thankfully the bed was good enough to keep me warm throughout the night. I found my room to be odd as well because there was a wall and a step separating the living area which had a coach and a T.V. in one part then the other part was the bedroom which I found inconvenient as I didn't want to get up out of bed to go and watch T.V. (just my personal point of view). The other things I disliked was that I felt that I was in the middle of nowhere as there were no shops or anything within walking distance of the hotel. The other thing was that I felt that they didn't cater for my vegan diet at breakfast because I did get some soy milk to have cereal but the only thing I had cooked was beans, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms which was ok but not amazing. This is an ok hotel but I personally didn't enjoy the stay.

"Excellent Superior double and twin rooms."

The welcome on arrival was friendly and the upgrade of the standard twin to a superior was appreciated but this hotel is badly let down by the quality of the breakfast. The bread resembled a cheap value loaf from Tesco. The milk dispensed from a silver urn was off, to so I couldn't eat my cereal. I didn't receive an apology or a replacement. The sausage and bacon in the cooked breakfast were cheap quality and very salty. For a hotel,the range of cooked breakfasts was very limited and the manager needs to tell the young waiter,that cereals and croissants, do not on their own constitute a continental breakfast. At 12.95, the breakfast was seriously disappointing from a hotel that I wouldn't classify as budget.

"A Thoroughly Enjoyable Evening"

Visited with a friend for a Charity Sports Dinner.Really enjoyed the ambience of the Hotels bar for pre dinner drinks and then was shown to the beautiful tithe barn function room for dinner. The food was (particularly considering how many people were attending the dinner) delicious and well cooked.The service was efficient and well organised, again not easy for a large scale event. We both thoroughly enjoyed our evening and would recommend on our experience particularly for a large function or wedding. .

"Friendly, clean and comfortable"

Well equipped, clean and comfortable rooms, the staff were really friendly and this created a very relaxed but professional environment.Everywhere was very clean, and the breakfast was excellent!Ample car parking and really efficient checkout.

Little people don't matter in this day and age you have to be a V I P to get what you want . Doesn't matter that you book your wedding months in advance and get told 4 weeks prior to the wedding that the venue is double booked and we have to fit in with a famous cricketer . I'm sorry but the small gestures made did not prevent unnecessary stress for the bride and groom so close to their wedding and in a previous reply by the duty manager that an arrangement had been decided was really they didn't have the choice . Oh a prestigious event came before their wedding which had been booked in advance and no excuses should keep being made as to all the problems that occurred. Yes previous staff made mistakes but as duty manager surely you are still there so it falls to you even though the other staff are no longer with you . Even on the day of the wedding problems occurred . No wine on tables and when approached the manager blamed previous event manager but excuse me the tables were set with wine glasses so you knew there should have been wine or was it that there wasn't any . Surely these problems lie with you as looking at previous reviews things seriously need looking at . It seems that i am not the only one commenting on your hotel . Your wedding day should be something to remember not all the stresses that occurred for all of us

Stayed for two nights at this hotel, it has a lovely relaxed feel about it.The staff are very helpful and attentive.The room was large ,clean and had everything we needed. The restaurant served delicious meals so we ate there both evenings,the breakfast was tasty and filling and service in the bar and restaurant good.Would stay again.

"Pre-christmas break"

Great hotel, had a great weekend break. Must book up again. The room we were in was like a motel room around the car park. It was very roomy and comfortable. The breakfast was fanatastic and set us up for our days out sightseeing.

Was absolutely shocked, attended a wedding recently which had clashed with another event so suppliers were unable to have access to the venue as promised, the bride and groom had to set up the morning of their wedding, all stresses you don't need on your big day, the staff promised to rectify their mistakes but never did, wine allocated to guests during the wedding breakfast was not put out, food was horrendous, inedible and they had sold out of most alcohol from the event the previous night so guests were not able to order drinks they liked. Wedding guests staying at the hotel found their rooms to be less than adequate, dirty bathroom floors in one room, feces left in the toilet in another room. Far to many problems with far to many empty promises. Would not go back.

Dear Mrs. Wade Thank you for your review, your feedback is very much appreciated. We do try to resolve any issues that guests may experience onsite before they leave. I am sorry you felt that you needed to review us negatively here. The Hotel has recently changed in Management and our new General Manager Kevan is resolving some issues caused by previous colleagues, who have now departed the Company. Regrettably Tithe Barn was not available for access the day prior, however an agreement was discussed and honoured between the newly weds and our Events Manager. The whole Team work hard and go the extra mile for our guests. Ensuring every event runs as smoothly as possible, from the set up, to the daily running, onto the morning of departure. I am investigating the bar stock with our Head Barman, as the recent stock report indicates that there was ample alcohol onsite and no drink order should have been turned away. "A let down for a major event"

Ref, Evening event with Alistair Cook and Geoff Miller. I booked 5 tickets and invited 4 important guests (one travelled from Portsmouth) to enjoy an evenings entertainment with England's greatest cricketing hero. Our expectations of the presentation by Alistair and Geoff were totally fulfilled. But such a shame that 2 of my guest waited 55 minutes to get a drink from the bar. I'm guessing there was well over 100 people in the Barn, but one barman for the first 20 minutes. Then the bar was closed without explanation. On enquiry, we were informed to order drinks by filling in forms left on the table which would be collected and lodged at the bar - they weren't collected. Having deposited the form at the we were later told our order had already been delivered to the table - NOT ……. blar blar - so almost an hour later the drinks arrived -- Utter shambles

"Tired"

We stayed overnight without breakfast, so only used a room. This felt ready for redecoration, with a stale smell. Outside, the car park was up and down and round the back where we parked, tatty with rough fences. The safe in the room had instructions to set up a code but it didn't work.

Very good service, attentive staff and a great service. The check in was painless and stress free. The breakfast catered for all needs and plenty of staff around for any questions. The hotel is situated in a very quiet and tranquil location.

"Dissapointed"

The image portrayed is nothing like what you get, on pulling up the hotel look unkept ,tired and need of investment, It boast of 4 acres of ground which it totally a mess On arrival we found we were allocated the wrong room which was rectified but then we could not check in until 3.30 as the room was not ready The room itself was adequate but the bed was to low with a mattress that offered no support ,worse to come the pillows had no protective covers on and mine in particular was stained , this was rectified but unfortunately not to my satisfaction as the cover replacement was full of holes, I was told new pillows were on order, not good enough they should have then there ready to replace if required We only ate at breakfast , first day had to wait ages for meal , no menu on the table and we had to asked to be served , 2nd /3rd day no problem , Cooked breakfast was fine The web site show rooms which appear to be premium or business it does not show the outside rooms The garden area is full of dead leaves, nub ends etc and the car park gravel does it no favours It seem that everything is done on a minimal budget , staff are great, As a BW platinum member iI stay away at least 45 weeks of the year on business and nearly always favour BW hotels my wife and I who were there for our anniversary were dissapointed, This hotel needs a massive investment and if done you could not wish for a better location but for me and my wife we will not be returning

"Good Hotel, but with faults"

The hotel is situated on a busy road, so some rooms will suffer from traffic noise. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is OK, but with some drawbacks. This is mainly evident at breakfast as, like many of these hotels, it survives on coach parties. All other guests are rather "second-class" at this meal. The hotel has to get those people on the coach and away! The few staff who were allocated to our breakfast were willing enough, but there were not enough of them, and they needed to be organised. It was often a case of 'hunt the coffee/tea/toast/marmalade/baked beans/etc.' when you arrived in the dining room. The evening meal was much better with some superb dishes and better organised. I was in a party of 25. Housekeeping was reasonable, but not good. Requests for more (or firmer) pillows fell on deaf ears. Cleaning the cups in the rooms was a rinse under the bathroom taps and a wipe with the hand towel (I was there when they did it). The shower control in the bathroom was very stiff and difficult to turn on or off with wet soapy hands. The bed was very comfortable, and had firm cushions which were pressed into service as pillows. Reception staff noted these complaints and said they would pursue them. WiFi connection was excellent - and free!

"Baby shower"

I had my baby shower here at the beginning of September of which we had afternoon tea. Room set up nicely, plenty of fresh sandwiches, and delicious cakes. Tea, Coffee and fresh fruit juices replenished when needed. Attentive staff and very welcoming. Thank you all.

"Swing For Sepsis Fundraiser"

Hired the Tithe Barn for this Charity Event. Had great support from the team and access to decorate early. Perfect room, self contained with bar, buffet and toilets. Event really went with a Swing thanks to staff on bar and buffet for responding to our timings and keeping the show going. Special thanks to Emma, Julie and Jonathan for their input and extra help.

"Fantastic Swedish massage but food disappointing"

When we arrived Jonathan was waiting to show us to the spa facilities. Sauna, steam room and whirlpool all perfect size for 2. Swedish back massage was fantastic as part of the afternoon tea package. Unfortunately the afternoon tea had been made too early and the sandwiches were crispy and very cold. The cakes were better but the carrot cake looked too unappetizing to try. We stayed overnight and the room was spacious and clean. The decor around the hotel needs updating. Breakfast buffet was varied but the hot food underwhelming. Staff were friendly throughout.

"Good Hotel"

Stayed here for 2 nights. Room pleasant. Could do with more natural light. We had a Classic room, a little old fashioned but functional. One light beside bed not working and light over mirror in bathroom not working. Pointed out to reception next day and fixed by time we returned in the afternoon. All staff friendly, helpful and polite. Breakfast a little slow but we did not mind. Weak coffee could improve!!!

"pass on by..."

Here for business, wish i hadn't. At first glance the place looks okay, but it's mostly a poorly equipped motel. No air con. No fan. Ground floor windows can't be secured in a partial open position. Mould on the window frames. Broken toilet seat. Broken tv. Poorly lit restaurant, and no air!! Gave up on breakfast due to poor service. No redeeming features.

"Poor value for money"

After having stayed at other Best Westerns we were really looking forward to our stay here, how disappointing it turned out to be.The room we stayed in is in need of a new bathroom.They allowed us into the room BEFORE the bathroom had been cleanedand the driveway is very bumpy. It could damage any style of car .The breakfast was good value for money but not quite so the room.Couldn't have slept with the windows open because of the bugs from the trees and noise from the road and the room didn't have any air con so thank goodness it wasn't to hot!Definitely wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

"Good hotel."

Stayed here a few times and would recommend to others. Food is great albeit fairly expensive for what it is but nice all the same. Rooms are good, clean etc. Don't ever pay extra to stay in the Brome suit though. Room is very nice (not the cleanest) but the noisyies room you can get. Constant noise from traffic, kitchen is right next door so you get all that noise and smells from there. Hotel has a gym which is small but well equipped. As long as people don't book the suite, they'll have an enjoyable stay.

"2 Night Break"

Lovely two-night break in a really decent sized double room. Prosecco and chocolates in room on arrival. We had dinner in the hotel both nights and the food was delicious, the bar is really cosy however the restaurant itself was lacking atmosphere and full of flies for some reason! The spa facilities were great and the two times we used them we had it all to ourselves which was so lovely. Our main issue was that housekeeping came at 5 pm when we were showering etc getting ready to go for a drink, so they were unable to turn over our room. Not too much of an issue for two nights but I wouldn't be happy if we were staying for longer. Super helpful and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend for a short break particularly for couples :-) (but only with a car due to distance away from things to do in the day! - we enjoyed Eye Castle, Diss, Waveny and Bury St Edmunds)

"Good basic hotel"

We stayed 3 nights for a family wedding. We had an executive room, which was recently furnished and a good size (but basic). The bed however was really comfy. The staff were fantastic, very helpful and friendly. We ate at the restaurant one night, uninspired menu, but the meal was much better than expected. The lounge and bar area and cosy, but the rest of the hotel lacks any soul. It's a 3 star, and if you bear that in mind, then you get a good stay and good value for money.

Arrived late Friday evening, check in easy, shown to room which was clean and adequate. Decided to eat there, took 15 minutes to ask us if we wanted a drink, had lamb shank and was asked if we wanted mint sauce, it didn't come when main was served, sat there for a further 10 minutes asked twice more, the girl said the chef was shouting at her so she forgot, (seems trival but when your food is getting cold very annoying), meal was nice though. Breakfast was a disaster, nice enough food but it ran out all the time and wasn't replaced. Stood waiting for 15 minutes with 4 other guests for eggs, in this time most other items ran out, was annoying as had to keep asking for everything. Need more staff as those there were trying their best. All in all not a bad place needs a bit of doing up and the dog friendly was a great bonus. Would visit again just hope they sort out the staffing issues in the restaurant. .

My girlfriend & I stayed here for a 2 night midweek getaway. On arrival we had an easy and fast check-in & were shown to our room by the lovely young lady on reception. The room was a nice spacious room, shower was average size. If I were to make any negatives, they would be that the bedroom & bathroom had some cobwebs, the kettle didn't have a decent filter for the thick pieces of limescale. The dining room decor seems outdated, could have done done with an extra pair of hands in the dining room as service was slow, being that they were covering the dining room and bar. Food on the first night was enjoyable, on the second night was good. We had fish & chips, but the chips were slightly undercooked & there were what seemed like enough peas for 2 on each plate. Overall we felt these were not really things worth making a fuss of, and enjoyed the stay. :)

We stayed here on a 2 night romantic break. I asked for a room with a walk in shower and was immediately contacted and advised we had been upgraded free to accommodate our request. On arrival our room was not ready but we were invited to wait in the bar and given a free drink. The room was lovely and we were very happy. The break included an evening meal which was delicious. Only marred by other guests allowing their child to scream at the top of his lungs...not the hotels fault! The breakfast the next day was very nice and again looking at the value for money and what we paid it was more than adequate and quite the nicest scrambled egg I have tasted in a long time. There was an unfortunate incident in the car park where our car was hit...that again is not the hotels fault, the car park is really a good size but we were hit by a man towing a trailer with a glider! Again the hotel tried to assist, The second evening the menu was slightly limited as it was a Sunday but the meal was equally delicious. The staff are all very helpful and I would stay here again.

Used this hotel as a stopover on our way to Wroxham for a day out boating with our friends. Late check in was conducted without any problems and even though the room was a little 'tired' we had a goodnights sleep. Breakfast was ample and we left in the morning well prepared for our day out.

My husband and I had our wedding reception here 10 years ago which was lovely and we like to come back to celebrate our anniversaries. We have stayed in the honeymoon suite a few times now and had some delicious meals here and the afternoon tea was fantastic .The staff are brilliant and each time the service has been exceptional. Sarah has made our visits amazing and very memorable. Look forward to many more visits in the future.

We booked a 2 night stay at the Brome Grange hotel. The Hotel was very clean, we had a superior room which was spacious, with everything you could want in the room. We had booked a package including wine,chocs,bubble bath. 2 evening meals and breakfasts. We enjoyed our meals must say a big thank you to our evening waitress Sabrina. All the staff were friendly and helpful would stay again.

I booked this hotel for a long weekend away with the wife. First impression where good, the staff where very welcoming, the room we had was very spacious. A bonus was there was gym and spa facilities which was great. But most importantly the food and beers was top class.

After reading some of the reviews I was a bit concerned, but stayed here last week with my husband and we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The hotel was spotlessly clean and our room delightful. We chatted to the receptionist Sarah who gave us some local information of the area. We had a fab meal in the courtyard restaurant that evening and couldn't fault the food or the attention to detail. We shall be back.

The Rooms are clean and tidy, parking and unpacking luggage is easy. Sarah and Emma at the front desk were really helpful and friendly and breakfast wasn't bad either. I paid around £75/ night which is pretty good considering it's getting into a tourist zone in July. In Britain that's about as good as you'll get for the cleanliness and level of service. I often use best Western here and in America and as of yet have never been disappointed.

So we booked a travel zoo which was a "3" course dinner, bed and "breakfast", oh and they give you a fancy showergel!! a box of Lindt and a bottle of Prosceco. The room was ok, a King bed, most rooms appeared to have Super King, a TV, kettle and that's it. The bathroom had a broken lock so god forbid if you close the door you are not getting out! The toilet flush was clearly too much work for the plumber to fit in so was left off! and the hot and cold were the wrong way round. Oh and if you use the shower cover your sensitive bits as the water comes out like needles with no control function! Food was distinctly average, usually erred on the side of overcooking, plus the "chef" has severe ideas above their station - slate plates, flowers on the food and a huge reliance on a Balsamic Glaze poured everywhere. WARNING -- if you pre pay for a 3 course meal it doesn't mean a 3 course meal. it means a £24 allowance. Cheapest desert is £6, cheapest starter is about £6 and most main courses start at £16 - do the maths! We went over by a tenner. Btw how difficult is it to cook a simple burger, even a minimum wage student in McDonalds can manage it. As for breakfast, WTF?! No pastries, no fruit (other than tinned grapefruit) no proper fruit juice, no hot water for the tea bags, no decaf options, no vegetarian options (other than mushrooms and tomatoes) no cups, no glasses, no clean plates, no working toasters, no proper attitude from the staff. And clearly if you don't turn up for a Travel Zoo deal you get offered a menu of specials which we saw none of. Over 4 meals in the restaurant we also saw brown bits on the wall which were never cleaned, and a happy hour cocktail menu of which the vital ingredient for 75% of the cocktails on said menu were not in stock. Upon checkout we were not asked how our stay was, just handed a bill for our £10 overspend which we suggested they remove in lieu of the breakfast service, no argument there. The Spa was also closed the whole time but the staff don't tell you that. It looks like the staff are clearly put upon as most are ok (clearly not the "chef") it is just management clearly do not care and do not want repeat business. I notice there are no responses to these reviews from the management, says it all.

We stayed for two nights and I would have left had we not travelled for 6 hours to visit my very elderly (97) father in law.From the first view of the frontage this is a very run down hotel, The staff are indifferent to any complaints and do nothing to rectify problems or make your stay pleasurable. We had our dog with us so we were given a courtyard room. This is a very grand description of a car park covered in chipping! The room was dark, dismal old fashioned and in parts tatty. The taps in the bathroom were wobbly, only provided hot or lukewarm waster, the shower over the bath was ancient and it was far too dark due to the over mirror light being cracked and broken. There were two stained chairs in the room which I did not fancy sitting on. I did request some cushions to cover the stain but my request was ignored so I found two cushions from the outside seats and 'borrowed' those. We had to prise the lid of the . kettle open when we wanted to use it and the room was generally very dark and depressing. We did not fancy eating there but had to as we could not find anywhere nearby. We had checked prior to booking that the restaurant was open Sunday night. It was but only with a limited menu. Fish & chips or a roast. We dined in the pub area and had the roadt but it was very poor. Probably cooked at lunch time and warmed up, however the starter of chicken liver pate was delicious. The only redeeming feature of the stay. The staff at breakfast were bored and seemed irritated to have to actually serve you. There were flowers on the tables but there is little point to this if they are dead! We were offered a table where the chair was covered in crumbs from the previous occupant. We constantly had to ask for things i.e. Butter sugar etc as nothing was topped up and the breakfast was poor quality.

Room was smallest we have ever stayed in, but apparently we were told when we got there, we had been upgraded. We decided it was a case of other visitors wanting to be next door to each other, so we were moved. We had a sky light, so didn't bother opening blind, as right in our view was somebody's balcony. We didn't wish to see into their room, and certainly didn't want anyone to see into our's. No bath, just a shower, which was constantly on 'burning', didn't matter how many ways we turned the taps. Didn't get good service at dinner, had dirty glass, and waitress who walked away as I was talking to her. Apparently they do weddings there, don't know how they have the nerve. We have been in some lovely Best Westerns, but this hotel does not deserve to have their name. Won't be visiting again, and do not recommend it to anyone.

Outside rooms a bit tired n in need of update especially the bathroom. The bed was on a wooden platform that I walked into several times! Big ouch! When we first entered the hotel, my husband declared that 'The hotel inspector would have a field day in here'. The place is tired, even the rooms that have been modernised are tired (by modernised, I mean pasted over the cracks). This could be acceptable if it wasn't for the staff's lacklustre approach to their customers. Check-in was basically just someone who handed over a key with no explanation fo breakfast times etc. The check-in staff hid in the office behind for the rest of the stay. We stayed in the family room, which we had seen pictures of and noted it was an older style, but really, for a best western brand hotel, would you have insecure broken window locks in a room with children in on the ground floor? Would you have stains on the ceiling which could be easily remedied? Would you just leave the leaking taps in the bathroom and stained bath tub? Even the basics of having two old fashioned halogen lights on the bedroom ceiling should be updated. Breakfast was run by one guy, who was sweet but seemed very shy and avoided taking our order for quite some time and it wasn't particularly busy, We ordered the 'special' for a supplement which was a croissant topped with cheese, ham and a poached egg...do not bother getting this. When it returned after, again, quite some time, it was a hard boiled poached egg on some cheap brown toast! I asked the waiter why my order was wrong and he just said 'we don't have any croissants'. Which would go been helpful to know before receiving my 'surprise' food. We did not pay the supplement for what was basically a hard boiled egg on toast. My mother ordered the other special, which was a croissant with scrambled egg and salmon and received the brown toast with a large omelette on top...its amazing how hard the chef here finds it to cook what's on the menu. Walked over to my sisters room to be greeted by a dog poo bin (a flip top inside waste bin, labelled dog poo bin) placed between two room doorways - disgusting, I don't know why someone would even think of putting a dog poo bin right outside customer rooms! Her room was more modern but so dark, even with the lights on, it was like dusk in there. Again leaking taps in here - this is a general running theme in this hotel. My mum had the suite as it was her wedding day and leaking tap is an understatement, it was gushing water! And the noise of a whistling pipes as it gushed made it impossible to sleep.You could of filled the spa bath 5 times over in the night with the 'leak'. She requested a plumber who apparently came and said it couldn't be fixed. I dread to think what a UV light would reveal in this place. The only thing this place has about it, is its location, so if your desperate enough to stay in the locality, then book in, otherwise avoid it until its had a full renovation and staff have been trained properly. This place brings shame on the best western brand.

Ok, so we arrived an hour early for book in but we directed to our room, which was downstairs and across the gravel covered car park. Has anyone tried to push a wheel chair or mobility scooter on gravel??? No problem though, there is a path around the outside. Perfect, that is until you need to go down a rather steep slope and across THE GRAVEL DRIVE, up another steep slope and down the path to our room. The room door was open, bed stripped and dirty mugs in the sink! The housemaids apologised profusely and hurriedly cleaned the room. Now I understand it WAS a Saturday evening. It WAS a very busy night but surely the reception could have explained the room wasn't ready and pointed us in the direction of the bar, where we could have enjoyed a drink whilst waiting? The hotel isn't for the single disabled visitor, as there are a few fire doors to navigate. So be warned. Finally, we entered our room, via the step into it! Bathroom to the left, good size, reasonably clean but dated. Bed room area was large and was large enough to handle a wheel chair/scooter IF you could have navigated the mine field of doors, gravel, slopes and step. The room was, again reasonably clean, however there was a largish stain on the carpet. Dog friendly? I'm afraid, for me, this hotel was NOT disabled traveller. Can't say about the food, I couldn't face the reverse journey to try the restaurant. For a fully able bodied person, this would be good but sadly not if you need wheels to get around.

Booked a loverly romantic 2 night break for our 10th wedding anniversary including bottle of fizz in our room on arrival chocolates, rose petals and sensual bubble bath sounds to good to be true, well it was! The reality was a dingy outside room, very low uncomfortable bed, box of celebrations chocolates, no rose petals and some radox shower gel! And the bath mouldy, complained to only be offered a free drink which we didn't take them up on as we checked out after about an hour or so after checking in, ended up at the Barnham Broom hotel and spa that I can completely recommend.

We rated our stay 8/10 but there were a mixture of 5's and 9's!! We stayed one night, dinner, b&b spa package for our wedding anniversary. Room 20 Courtyard. Bed - huge and comfortable Shower - powerful and hot Hotel food - Piping hot. Very tasty. Staff - very friendly and helpful. Loved Neville the barman. Gym - exceptional facility. Bathroom - v.tired, looks like not touched since 1972, found long hair on tap, no shampoo / body wash in the dispensers. Spa changing rooms - v.tired, mould everywhere and dark. Toilet didnt flush - Beetle running around! No sky tv (even in the bar) to watch Champions League final. (Not that my wife minded!) In summary; value for money on the whole. More personality than a Travelodge. A lot of things done very well and a few things needing serious TLC. Simon & Kate

Tatty, run down, like stepping back to the 1980s and those are the best points! We booked a "superior" double room. When we arrived we were shown the room (room 40). It was small, very small and the bed was at best a 4ft double, so not much bigger than a single, truly not what we would call a "superior double". We asked for another room but this was not much better although the bed was at least a standard 4ft 6in double, so we opted for this. We were also shown a third room which was not classed as "superior" and was in the "courtyard". Obviously at sometime this had been a Motel and these rooms were set around the perimeter of the parking area, typical 1970s Motel style. Honestly these were awful. Tired 1980s decorations and fittings, shabby carpet really dreadful considering the price we were paying of £105 for the night including breakfast. Meanwhile back in the room we had opted for (no.24), the bedside table light didn't work, the dressing table light didn't work either. There was no shaver / toothbrush power socket in the bathroom, in fact there was nothing "superior" about the room at all. We then discovered that directly below (and I mean about two feet below) our only window was a huge kitchen extractor fan vent, so when the kitchen was in operation the noise of this fan - even with the window shut was very intrusive, so no chance of an early night or a lay in in the morning because as soon as breakfast started to be prepared at around 6 am the extractor would be switched on and sleep impossible! Because of circumstances and lack of availability elsewhere we had to endure two nights staying here and paid over two hundred pounds for the pleasure........just not good enough and we strongly suggest avoiding this hotel.

In summary this is a nice 3 star hotel. Yes some areas do look a but tired but it is clean, pleasant & good value. As many previous reviews have said, the biggest bonus here is the staff, who are friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Both of the nights we stayed there was a large group using the restaurant so the staff recommended that we dined in the bar/lounge. This we did and had a delicious meal. We had lunch in the bar the day we arrived and this was also excellent. The bar is a good place to enjoy a quiet drink. A couple of negatives... There was no milk in room and the TV remote was not working. The milk was brought immediately but initially we were told to use the buttons on the TV! However they did find another remote when I complained further. However the biggest negative was that we had booked the stay as 3 course dinner, bed and breakfast. When we arrived we were told there was a limit of £24/head on the dinner. Thus had not been stated before. To compound this, when we looked at the menu it was not possible to eat 3 courses for £24! To be fair to the manager she gave us a couple of free drinks on the second evening as I had complained. But I was not really concerned about the money but more the principle.

Stayed here recently and multiple times in the past and the level of service and quality you receive for the money you're actually spending is very I think remarkable. The hotel is in an very easy to find and accessible location on the A140 making getting to nearby towns pretty straightforwards. With a decent sized car park I had no trouble getting there, parked up and to reception where the staff were their waiting at reception and were very welcoming as always. After the lovely receptionists handed me my room key card I headed on up to take my bags to my room to find a decent size and remarkably clean room in which I'd be staying. You get pretty much everything you need and everything worked which you often find in a lot of other hotels isn't the case. I also felt fairly confident that if I did have any other requirements the staff would have been more than happy to try and fulfill them as they couldn't do enough but I could't spot anything missing myself! After a very cosy and good nights sleep I went down for breakfast in the main restaurant where again happy and helpful staff were on hand to set me up with a table of my choice attending to my tea or coffee needs once I'd sat down. Breakfast is done in a buffet style and you're presented with a good selection of cooked and non-cooked breakfasts which I was very impressed with! Food was hot and fresh, drinks were well assorted and once again I couldn't think of anything else missing. All in all a very well priced hotel with attentive, friendly staff and to top it all off great food. Looking forward to coming back! :)

Stayed here on a few occasions in the past with no issues. However today , fell in the car park on loose stones whilst getting to room 12a , never a good start. Ordered tea Chicken curry, looked nor tasted anything like and so returned, the poor barman was very apologetic and offered a alternative, Tagliatelle was the choice, after what seemed like an age the said dish arrived (only just warm) so that went back, the wait continued, eventually the food turned up hot but the whole experience had taken away my hunger. Everyone was apologetic but sorry to say damage done. I am a diamond select member but might have to look at other options....????

Good standard Best Western hotel, friendly and helpful staff. My room was compact but fully functional. The bathroom was a little tired and had some staining on the floor but looked clean. As hotel we s on a relatively busy road I would request a room away from the road if your a light sleeper although double glazing was quite efficient at minimising the road noise. The back was not the most welcoming I have experienced recently and the food looked expensive for a hotel of level , we opted to eat out instead. Breakfast was great and staff very friendly. Overall good value for money .

We were based in one of the outside rooms which was OK. The bathroom was outdated and just didn't seem clean with dark grout around bath and it had a real 'damp' smell to it which was not very pleasant. The other issue for me was the loo seat - is it really too much to ask for a seat to fit the toilet?? The bedroom itself was fine although a little cold for me and there did not appear a way to turn heat on. My husband rated the bed as one of the best hotel beds he had slept in. We had a meal in the bar which was served by a friendly barman and arrived piping hot - another of my peeves being lukewarm food so this was fab. Breakfast was good with a nice selection and fresh hot choices. In summary, we had expected better at a Best Western an OK overnight stay.

When making our booking I explained that my wife was in a wheelchair. On arrival at the hotel at approx. 3.30pm I found that the room was not ready and Room 21, which had a wet room for disabled guests had an 8 inch step into it with a 2 inch step down into the room. Fortunately we had a shower step with us so with the use of her walking frame she was able to access and exit the room with difficulty. We were on holiday for 4 nights and visited the restaurant on the first two nights. The food was average but prices were high for that standard of fayre. Staff were good but the hotel itself needs a lot of investment to bring it up to Best Western standards. The entrance to the car park has a large pothole and some smaller ones and the car park itself is covered with gravel which makes pushing a wheelchair difficult. My advice for disabled travelers is avoid this place and find somewhere with more suitable facilities.

Arrived on the Saturday for a 2 night stay, large rooms but very dark décor inside with awful net curtains and very bad lighting in room, bed not that comfy and also bathroom was very old fashioned and had dripping tap, we should of complained but has we couldn'tt hear it when door was shut we didn't bother, would of expected better from Best Western rooms. Came down for breakfast Sunday morning to all I can say was unorganised Chaos there were no tables for myself and husband, we were offered a table in another room which would of been fine if it had not been a coffee table, was unbelievable they expected us to stoop over a table to eat breakfast , they then found us a table in the bar. Buffet breakfast was awful stood waiting for ages for food to be replenished one gentleman stood for ages with his toast waiting for eggs which then turned cold by the time the eggs arrived. My husband left most of his full English due to it being cold. Well they did refund us our money for the breakfast when complained we were told well we do have a lot of guests today which really was not our problem, I put that down to bad management, Monday breakfast was quieter and not buffet style and more acceptable. All in all we travelled over 4 hours and thought we had picked a good hotel as it was Best Western and now I am very disappointed and would probably not book again with this company.

All staff were brilliant Neville behind the bar knew exactly what he was doing. Jonathan at reception and in the restaurant made us feel very welcome. Sarah at reception was very helpful and the managers were fantastic. I can't wait to come back again.

"Better than expected"

We picked this hotel because of its handy proximity to an event we were attending, rather than anything else. I hadn't stayed in a Best Western for a very long time and my impression from the past had not been great. We were therefore pleasantly surprised to find ourselves shown through pristine corridors, to a very nicely decorated and furnished room, clean and comfortable with leaded glass windows. More than average supplies of tea, coffee & milk in the room also bought cheer and made the difference compared to many hotels who can be so mean with these supplies. A hotel that understands you may like at least one hot drink on arrival and another in the morning without having to ask, gets extra points for customer care from me! Two small niggles - the design of the bedframe with the wooden corners protruding from the bed meant we unsuspecting knocked into the legs on more than one occasion – were we the only guests to go home with bruised legs I wonder! The only other disappointment was the TV which frequently pixilated – I'm not sure if this was a one off or a regular problem with the signal. Overall the staff were pleasant and helpful – top marks to Jonathan on the front desk for his welcome and cheer. Breakfast was also good – minimal buffet style queuing (just for cereals and toast) as orders for the main meal were taken and delivered to the table. This included pots of tea – what a joy these days to have a steaming pot of tea and a jug of milk on the table! The cooked breakfast was extremely tasty – possibly because it was made to order rather than sitting out for hours. This hotel exceeded expectations for a mid-range hotel and compared to a Premier Inn scored a few extra points for the more individual style of the bedrooms & breakfast room, the above average room tea/coffee supplies and the tasty (served at the table) breakfast.

Stayed as a couple two nights in a superior room that whilst clean and large (apart from the bathroom that could have been better designed with more space taken from the room) it was drably decorated in dark brown furniture, brown striped carpet, with dull green curtains and equally dull artwork. What were the management thinking of when they furnished it. Brighter coloured paint is in need elsewhere too. I was told it was a "Corporate Room"! Well believe me It ranked amongst the worst room I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in hundreds of hotels throughout the world. Added to that the breakfast experience was unpleasant, dirty plates!

We apologise that you did not like the decor in our Comtemporary Superior rooms, which are decorated in Duck Egg Blue, Checked Blue chairs, duck egg cushions and a striped carpet. Arrived on a Sunday evening, Sarah on reception was excellent, giving information about the hotel and our stay. Room was tired, but functional. There were some lights not working, but we didn't bother to report. Useful to have parking close-by the room, as it was in the courtyard area. Breakfast was a mixed review, depending on how many team were on duty. Food was cooked to order which was good. There was no marmalade for our 5 night stay at all and no tomato sauce on our final day. Surely a management decision could have been made to rectify this with a trip to the supermarket / cash & carry. So many other customers mentioned it during the stay. Lounge and bar area OK. There is a Spa on-site. I enquired at reception about some treatments, was told there was only one person that carried out treatments, so details were took and was told someone (Jonathan possibly ?!) would call me to advise what was possible, heard nothing else, very poor customer service. Not sure what qualifies a hotel to become a best western 'plus', but on previous experience at other BW hotels, I have stayed in better that were not 'plus' status

Great location for easy access to Suffolk and Norfolk attractions. Very helpful and friendly staff - particular shout out to Amy and Neville, who ensured that despite our late arrival due to the snow, we were still able to enjoy dinner as they ordered on our behalf. Tasty food, huge portions. We stayed in an exec room and it was a good size and had nice small balcony. Only thing to note was that shower needed attention, but this was noted on check out for maintenance to deal with. Would recommend and will stay again.

Just spent a few days in four different hotels in Suffolk and this was the only one where reception staff welcomed us as though they were pleased we were staying with them. Despite being there on a very special offer it was warm, welcoming and excellent value for money. The owner should be very proud of the young ladies they have employed on reception. Rooms were as expected of this hotel, comfortable, clean and quiet. Breakfast was included in room rate and more than acceptable. I would recommend people stay here rather than the expensive hotel opposite (stayed there previous night) if they want value for money. Well done Brome Grange, I shall return.

"Not the very best of Best Westerns"

Stayed here for 4 nights last week, I was accommodated in the annex building rather than the main hotel. Didn't get off to a brilliant start, the rear car park is like a quagmire when it's been raining, so rather than wheeling a heavy case to reception I had to carry it quite a distance. The reception is light, clean and airy with very professional staff. All the staff at the hotel were friendly, polite and pleasant. My room was very tired looking with aged dark and very worn furniture, some light bulbs needed replacing. The ones that did work were of a very low wattage, making the room very gloomy. The heating couldn't be controlled, no thermostat and no radiator valves either. The bathroom also was in need of a spruce up, cracked tiles, worn out fittings and lots of sealant to cover the holes and crevices. The restaurant was first class, I ate there each evening and couldn't fault the food. To summarise; The car park and annex rooms need some investment, come on BW inject some cash to bring The Grange up to scratch. Would I stay there again ??? No I don't think I would.

Having had some bad experiences previously with Best Western Hotels, we were reticent to book in here, but as it was the closest to where we needed to be, we took the plunge....very glad we did - we were pleasantly surprised. A great welcome where immediately we were upgraded to a superior room (without prompting) as the receptionist noticed we were a BWH rewards card holder.We were personally shown to our room which was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was self service on the first course but we had our second course cooked to order. Scrumptious breakfast.On departure we were wished a safe journey home. Excellent value. Will note this hotel for a future visit

Had several stays now. Staff always friendly, chatty and helpful. Food was very good! Beds are very comfy. The spa was lovely, quiet, clean and enjoyed very much!! I think the bathroom needs some tlc. The walls were a little black and the shower constantly dripped. Maybe the drain needs cleaning as water seemed to take forever to go down so we had a couple of floods as it was coming out. This was room 38 and the shower was the same last stay too. But lovely stay. Will recommend and stay again!!

"Noisy"

Carpark is ok, limited for a long van. Room is a nice size and clean. You cant hear the busy road that is only yards away. Bathroom with bath and shower which is nice as you have a choice. Bed comfy and pillows to match. No complimentary breakfast to go with the booking. The thing that lets this place down is that it seems like it allows pets. Being allergic can make it uncomfortable if you happen to have the same room when you arrive. On my visit I had barking dogs next door which ruined my piece and quiet. Nice place to stat though.

This is turning into my annual pilgrimage, stayed in the fabulous master suite. Beautiful Tudor beams and bed, lovely furniture and the amazing Jacuzzi. A very reasonably priced and excellent evening meal along with some fine choices of wine. Again a really super experience!

"Two night leisure break in February"

Good appearance from the outside and the interior is lovely too. The delightful staff are very keen to please. Room 32 is on the first floor of the new wing and is great. The large modern bedroom is of an excellent standard with attractive fitted furniture and even room for a table and chairs. The shower room is small in relation to the bedroom and there is no bath but the shower cubicle is spacious enough for larger bodies. The downstairs spa is compact in size but beautifully presented. For dinner on the Sunday I had smoked salmon, roast beef and bread & butter pudding which were all extremely scrumptious and modestly priced. The cooked breakfast was equally delicious. Being winter time the special rate was amazingly good and the hotel exceeded our expectations. We will be happy to stay here again.

"Huge disappointment"

On arrival all looked ok , but from that point became disappointing My wife and I were given what is classified as a ‘superior room' (I use the words loosely indeed , tired decor , dusty , less than welcoming bathroom , music docking station that would not work properly , tv remote had a mind of its own , far too hot and situated over the kitchen which prevented a good nights sleep due to the noise of the extraction fans motoring on till gone 10pm and then fired up again at six , lovely ......... !!! The hotel staff were friendly enough but not enough of them of whic we found out in the afternoon when waiting 15 mins at the bar for a drink with myself eventually going to reception to request a team member to serve .the member of staff relaid the fact that they had a staff shortage as a large number had taken holiday at the same time(surely bad management of staff holidays ?), This was supposed to be a chilled two day break which with a disappointing room (recommended I might add by a member of staff) , bad service & the worse nights attempted sleep ever has tainted a planned chilled time ......

"Top notch customer service"

A typical best western hotel so far as the rooms are concerned. Reasonably large and well appointed and a very comfortable sleep. The food is of excellent quality and varied. Apart from the usual fish and chips, burgers or steak, various Italian dishes and then some real interesting offers such as a Cod and Prawns in a delightful sauce. Starters and sweets also interesting and well presented. However, the real success of this hotel is the staff. When we arrived the welcome from the receptionist (called Sarah I think) was exceptional and so helpful. The 2 managers also couldn't do enough to please with a special mention about Emma. The 4 of us were made to feel like we had joined a family and had one of the best stays away ever. Highly recommended.

A recent stay at this Best Western exceeded our expectations. A very pleasant, good size well equipped and very clean room with excellent modern bathroom. The bed was large and extremely comfy with good quality bedding. One bedside reading light was not working but this was no major problem. This hotel was in an excellent location for our needs and was a bargain price. The breakfast was very adequate for the price we paid but some items were unavailable and not replaced near to the end of service.

Just back from a corporate event in the hotel's lovely barn. The welcome at the hotel could not have been any better, Emma's smile greeted us and served us well at the bar, Julie the hotel manager served and looked after guests all evening with a smile on her face. The food was absolutely fantastic and served impeccably with time to chat during courses. The function room was beautifully dressed and lit up in amazing colours to match the companies logo. Excellent disco which could have gone on until the morning if there was not a finish time. Excellent modern room with great news over countryside Jonathan was very helpful on our departure and again another happy worker in this fab venue. Well done all at Brome Grange

"Good for overnight stay"

We visited this hotel recently whilst en route to Norwich. It was easy to find being on the main A140, which was a bonus when driving in the dark in an unknown area. However the situation of the hotel did mean that traffic noise can be troublesome so it may be wise to request a quiet room for undisturbed sleep. The staff were very welcoming and we had chosen a superior double room. The room was a very good size, as was the bathroom which had a large walk in shower. A minor niggle and one that applies to many hotels. When designing hotel bathrooms even when they are of a very good size invariably nobody has thought to put some sort of shelf for wash bags. I do not like having to put them onto a bathroom floor. In this instance a shelf could so easily have been incorporated as there was ample room for one. Other than that everything had been thought of and we enjoyed a comfortable night's stay. Breakfast was limited, I would have preferred to just have a continental choice but unfortunately the bakery section was limited to toast that day. Having said that, I settled for the full English and it was excellent, well cooked and plentiful. We would use this hotel again.

I stayed here on business a couple of weeks back with a group of colleagues (quite a large group). We had dinner and we had a couple of extra people more than were booked. They seemed to make a bit of an issue of it even though it was not madly busy. Breakfast wasn't great as I couldn't catch any waiter's eye to order anything from the kitchen so had to make do with cerial and toast. Some basic training needed here. On the plus side, the rooms were great, the wifi good, free parking, good sleep quality and easy check in and check out. We maybe go them on a bad night.

Firstly I was booked by Expedia into the Cedars Hotel in Stowmarket and as I am disabled I requested an accessible room with roll in shower or wetroom. I paid my money only to get a phone call on the Sunday morning when I was just about to leave for Stowmarket to attend to a funeral when I got a call saying that expedia had put my request into Housekeeping why I dont know but that they did not have that type of room available but they had one in Diss 15 miles away. I got to this hotel which again is a Best Western Hotel Very beautiful evan in the dark. Now the reception lady whose name sadly I have forgotten was so apologetic and really was upset over Expedia's error. Fantastic hotel in all honesty and just one item which is serious one the entry to our room was a ramp but so steep and as i have a 6 wheeler power chair would not go up the ramp. So had to be helped into the room. Once in the room brilliant room wet room for shower just wonderful but as said the ramp needs resolving. Apart from the ramp would highly recommend this hotel and its staff.

"Good value two night break"

Booked a two night 'romantic break' which is DBB basis. Overall was value for money and I would recommend this. Staff were friendly and helpful, the bar is quaint, had a welcoming real fire and the food was pretty good. However, there are some things that could be addressed to improve the place. Our room, 14, near the car park arch, was large and the heating was good and very controllable but the bathroom floor needs attention and the odd silverfish running around did not impress my wife! The car park potholes do need sorting. The long 'sofa' near the fire in the bar needs attention as the back of one seat is broken! I was a little disappointed in checking out to be presented with a bill for over £30 when it should have been under £10; indeed in view of the bad luck of their being no hot breakfast on our first morning (power cut, not the hotel's fault) and the fact that my wife never chose a dessert I did think this was an opportunity to show kindness and not charge me anything extra. The receptionist was unable to explain what the mistake was and did reduce the bill to the correct amount! Anyway, for what we paid, it was a pleasant stay. The site is 'out in the country' and you would have to drive to find food elsewhere but it is well placed to visit many Suffolk sights/sites. We were there midweek when it was very quiet so service was very good in the bar and restaurant, indeed we were sometimes on our own!

"Good but could be very good"

We stayed with friends whilst visiting the Suffolk area. Good location & a warm welcome by staff who also took us to our rooms , 30 & 38. Good sized rooms, large comfortable bed with tea/coffee making. The room was clean although the shower cubicle was showing signs of black mould... but ok. We had dinner for both nights of our stay . Unfortunately in the first night Service was rather slow and the ‘a la carte' meals were only warm and the chicken dish was dry & needed a sauce /ju. However the second night was much better with drinks being served promptly and the ‘ Brome standard ‘ meals were very good indeed ( gammon & fish ) On both evenings we relaxed in the bar by a lovely log fire. Breakfast was good on both mornings but on day one the young man serving was clearly very busy on his own & he was a little scruffily dressed. However on day two there were two staff at breakfast and service was much better. My wife and I shared a cream tea on Saturday afternoon in the bar/lounge which was very good and relaxing , she then went on to spend 1hr in the gym to burn off the calories! One thing, the self service counter is VERY high, I am 6'3” and I could reach everything but I had to get some things for my wife who is 5'1”. We enjoyed the stay, staff friendly & helpful, hotel generally clean, comfortable & quiet .

This was our first Christmas away and Julie & her staff made it a wonderful experience. Every staff member couldn't do enough to help us and always with what appeared to be genuine smiles on their faces. All the meals were excellent with a very good selection that helped my wife's strict diet. The entertainment was a very high quality as well particularly the dinner & dance on boxing day. The added bonus was that all the fellow guests we met were very easy to get on with and we can understand why so many of them return regularly. We shall certainly look to return in the near future.

We stayed 3 nights including News Years Eve, the staff were very attentive and if needed very helpful. Excellent dining facilities accompanied with a full range of a menu. Ideal location for Norwich or if you wish to tour the lovely Suffolk & Norfolk countryside.

Wonderful value for money. All meals were excellent. Excellent buffet on Christmas Evening also. Staff so polite and courteous and went out of their way to help. The General Manager, Julie, was so efficient and courteous and everything went according to plan. No complaints whatsoever for the money we paid. Even had a Christmas present each and sweets in trays in the bar, etc. The Boxing Day meal and disco were excellent also.

"BETTER THAN EXPECTED"

After deciding to go away at Christmas at short notice and needing a dog friendly hotel there was not a lot of choice.....and after reading some of the reviews my expectations were not great......however....I was pleasantly surprised on arrival very warm welcome in reception,courtyard room larger than anticipated clean and comfortable bed, yes the bathroom is in need of an upgrade but it was clean and functional with plenty of hot water when needed. All the staff were great and worked hard especially Julie and Isabelle who never stopped trying to keep the guests happy a special mention also for Neville in the bar and also the young lad in the bar who's name i didn't get again working hard to keep the guests happy. Christmas Lunch in the Tithe Barn was delicious as were all the meals had on this Christmas package. To conclude............ a better than anticipated experience and yes the hotel is not the RITZ but then again how much would you pay at the Ritz! A very enjoyable stay at a very reasonable price. Thank you to everyone for going the extra mile at Christmas (when I am sure you would have rather been at home with family members than spending it with strangers)

The room although adequate, had damage curtains hanging down and poo stains on the toilet seat and lid. Evening meal, supposed to be two rosette rating was a disaster. I think everyone complained as the food was inedible. We later found out they did not have a chef that night. The poor young waiter should not have to take all that flack, he was devastated by some of the comments. We went down the next day for breakfast to be informed they had no eggs. Ridiculous. Lovely young receptionist and waiting staff. They should leave, as they deserve better than that.

We were originally intending to spend two nights here but cancelled the second one because of snow and we wanted to get home. First, the two good points about our stay. The reception team were first class - helpful, welcoming, pleased to show us to our room etc, and the second point - the bed was large and comfortable. But what a hotch potch of a place this is. Our room was in the 'motel' part of the set up and the bathroom was pretty bad - scruffy, chipped paint, black uneven industrial looking floor and lukewarm water at best for a morning shower. At breakfast, basically everything ran out in turn - plates, bread, juice, hot food and it was served in a room with a breakfast buffet so high it was impossible for my wife to reach for things at the back. The main building has been recently been refurbished but with corridors with large windows looking into offices it had an air of a school building. Would we stay again - no

"AWFUL smell!!"

What an awful smell!! Stayed in room 108 and it absolutely stank of a horrible damp musty smell. So much so that it gave me a headache. Even a fellow guest from another room noticed the smell. The room itself is hidden behind a separate door leading to two further rooms which the receptionist didn't explain so you wont find it. The room itself is looking tired and the plasterwork around the ceiling is in desperate need of repair. After going to reception about the smell, all I was offered was the remains of a bottle of air freshener! Awful!!! Very disappointed and won't be recommending! I actually may sleep in the car at this rate. The restaurant is also expensive and average at best. Did I mention the smell?

Stayed in a courtyard room with Blue my dog for 3 nights... Two other rooms were also booked for my dad and brother. I loved my room..... the furnishings... the large bed.... quality towels... My brother was pleased with his room....Very stylish and spacious... And Dad was also comfortable... Could not fault standard of cleanliness and facilities in the room. A couple of suggestions.... Great food - but a little inconsistent for the price you pay.... all members of staff should prepare/present food to the same standard. Breakfast great.... it would help if all the staff ask do you want beans and black pudding? otherwise they do not come on your plate... (3 mornings a bit of confusion about beans and black pudding!) Bar service - good - again confusion about what needs to be paid for... a slight lack of unity between staff - lines used such as "Well it wasn't me" and running off rather than "how can we fix this?" With a bit of support... Was resolved in the end. I only mention this as the service for the Guests would be improved and the workload on the staff would be reduced. ( As they would not be running back and forth to put things right ) I found all the staff to be friendly... and courteous....but just a little more attention to detail would go a long way. The restaurant Manager? Manager? was great.... friendly.. professional.. Room girls .... pleasant / helpful Receptionist..... great Overall.... the good aspects of the Brome Grange definitely outweigh any shortcomings... and in these events the staff do try to resolve any issues.... So... Thank you for a great stay ??

"Not Good enough"

I don't normally review hotels as it would take a lot of my time having worked away over the last 19 years however; Stayed one night at the Brome Grange Hotel in room 117 £75pn which is a courtyard type room around the front carpark. On arrival front car park was full so had to park in the rear car park, pitch black no lights on a gravel/pothole surface thus trying to avoid puddles. Check in was ok presented my BW Diamond Select card which was jotted down and somehow i am pretty confident the points will not be added but we will see, receptionist didn't offer a gift (standard for the reward card level i hold) so I had to ask. Reserved a table in the restaurant for 19.30, Back out from reception across the carpark trying to find a path to my room as no lighting so danced across the soggy grass in my leather soled Italian shoes. On entry into the room it was freezing cold, turned the Thermostatic rad valve on and the radiator started to heat up threw my bags on the bed and headed to the restaurant, friendly waitress found me a table, my reservation hadn't been passed to the restaurant, sat me down and brought me a beer and a roll and a drip of oil so as i was settled then told me there was a wait for food, why not tell me before i sit down so i have a choice whether to stay or not, an hour and a half later i had eaten and did enjoy the food. Back in room i went to make a cup of tea, upon lifting the mugs there was tea stains on the paper protection which made me want to clean the mugs and spoons. Room had heated up enough not to give me frostbite. Bed was ok. Furniture in room was very worn and damaged in places. The theres the bathroom which can only be described as a slum, dirty walls, dirty door, i was reluctant to touch the dirty pull switch, cracked tiles, brown stains, more water running down the shower hose than out of the shower head, time for a shower before breakfast, oh no no hot water, rand reception oh we shall put it on boost, waited an hour still no hot water so had to bend over the bath and wash my hair with ice cold water and used wipes to freshen up and bit, got dressed and went to check out, mentioned the slum room, lack of hot water and the worst room i'd ever stayed in and how i was now missing breakfast due to waiting for hot water only to get the standard response ‘i shall pass your comments onto my Manager' It's not too much to ask that when staying in a hotel the room is warm, comfortable, clean and has hot water. Will not be staying here again and may even contact BW head office to air my views Mike P

"Dirty rooms"

The rooms were spacious but tired, which I could overlook but the cleanliness was disgusting. The carpets had big stains on them and appeared not to have been hovered for some time. The toilet bowl had dried faeces inside which was visable as soon as you entered the bathroom. Our friends in another room said their bath had not been cleaned either with scum marks all round it. My partner put his jacket over the back of a chair and when he put it on it was covered in white pet hair. I emailed direct to let them know how we felt and have had no response. There is no excuse for dirty rooms. On the plus side the towels were big, soft and clean as was the bedding.

Very large double room although the shower room was 'compact', but nice comfy bed. Pleasant bar area and very nice restaurant, food was fab. I had a shrimp and squid warm salad followed by rump steak washed down with a very reasonably priced bottle of Merlot (£19). Service was excellent in the restaurant but patchy in the bar and the bar maid didn't see a need to clear away a large number of glasses left on the side near the sink. The value for money was brought into question when I was checking out. I had paid in advance £90 for bed, breakfast and evening meal but this wasn't on the booking they received at the Grange. After some faffing I found my confirmation and all was OK. Highly recommended.

Lovely hotel (B&N basis), our room was very spacious and clean. Reception and breakfast staff found to be friendly and genuinely nice. Ideally situated, ample parking no road noise. I'd definitely recommend this hotel and use it again.

A "forced" stay as we had to be in the area for a family funeral.We had an excellent winter sale rate in a standard room. The room was large and clean with a large wardrobe with plenty of hangers (this seems to begetting rare these days). The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast - plenty of food at the buffet which was frequently topped up. Sausages and bacon were not of the highest quality but there was plenty of food.

"Wonderful Stay"

We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who escorted us to our superior room on the first floor. A beautiful room very large and comfortable, two easy chairs, comfy bed and a bathroom with a large shower. Everywhere in the hotel ...in our bedroom, bathroom and throughout the hotel, restaurant and bar...I purposely looked as I knew I would be reviewing the hotel...is spotlessly clean and I find the other reviews unfounded, unless the manager has addressed the recent problems. They have a lovely bar area and also seating outside, a few people were enjoying a drink. The restaurant was set out beautifully, low music and quite romantic...we enjoyed our starter and main course...quite busy and popular......again in the morning as it was Saturday they served a hot buffet breakfast...again very good. We asked for a pot of tea instead of the waiter serving by the cup and they obliged. I must congratulate all the staff on their friendly and chatty attitude..it was a pleasure to stay at the hotel. Only one negative...the red wine in the bar..I sampled each of the four bottles...you really must look into changing it..it really is appalling....even Lidl at £3.50 and £4 a bottle, is very easy drinking any of their wines...please..

Our niece had her wedding there last weekend. Lovely venue. Lovely room. Very disappointed with breakfast yesterday morning. Arrived in the breakfast room at 9.20, 40 minutes before the end of service. Everyone was hanging around for eggs. Sausages. Hash browns. Beans. Mushrooms. It was all coming out in dribs and drabs. The hash browns and beans were never replenished. The hotel knew how many guests they were catering for so why was the service so poor. It was a real shame as everything else was so lovely. Come on guys. Nothing like a good breakfast the morning after. Just one more thing, I'm not sure if there should be a late bar for residents but everywhere was shut at 12.

The hotel and the staff are excellent in every way. Rooms range from Standard to Superior. plenty of parking outside some of the accommodation. I stay here at least 24 times per year. Menu could be improved and menu price is excessive.

"Average stay"

We had a nice room with a comfortable bed - always so important. There was a nice large bathroom, but the staff were not able to provide us with a rubber bath mat until the second night of our stay - I am on a mission to get these provided as standard in all hotels. It just isn't safe/good enough when they are not available. The shower temperature seemed to vary between hot and very hot. The restaurant was disappointing. On the first night the pork dish was dry and unappetising. Our group went elsewhere to eat on the second night. Breakfasts were OK, but on the second morning they had run out of smoked salmon, fruit salad and marmalade and seemed happy to continue without doing anything about it. (At a hotel we stayed at a few days later they apologised for not having any mushrooms and said someone had just rushed off to buy some and they would be available shortly if we didn't mind waiting.) Although some in our fussy group can be rather demanding, in other places issues have been resolved with charm. Charm is in short supply here. Disappointing as we generally love Best Western Hotels.

"Hotel with a number of issues"

The hotel has easy access and the food at dinner and breakfast were fine. However the room I was put in was not in very good condition - the bathroom in particular was poor - but the main issue is that the room (and much of the rest of the hotel) needed to be cleaned properly. "So disappointing"

We stayed last year and had a brilliant stay. This year we stayed for two nights at the beginning of September and then three nights a week later. We had prepaid and so went back! We were very disappointed with numerous things. The positives....The room was great (superior twin). Housekeeping did a great job. Julie (manager), Tracy (restaurant manager) and the bar man did excellent jobs but seemed to spend most of their time apologising for other people's mistakes and filling in the gaps. We had booked for lunch on 1st September as we had a guest. The restaurant was empty and no table was set. I had to find a waiter, Robert, myself. The meal was fine but very slow as Robert disappeared and did not clear the starters or mains in a timely manner. I then had to find him to ask for one tea and two ice creams. The tea came quickly but the ice creams too 30 minutes - very embarrassing with a guest - and they were melting. . The restaurant seemed to have a big problem with flies which is not very nice when you are trying to entertain a guest and have to keep swatting them away. I mentioned this to Robert after the starters and he gave us a napkin to swat with!!!! No apology! On our second visit there was a new menu. More expensive. More flowery prose descriptions. No daily specials. We tried the menu. The starters were excellent. The mains. UGH....the hake was served in a bowl...well cooked but the crumb coating was a fine dust and underneath were seven potatoes and the bottom half of the bowl was samphire (well cooked but far too much) and baby vegetables swimming in a salty liquid/liquor. I could not eat much as it was all so soggy and salty. What is wrong with hake on a plate, with samphire, potatoes and dots pea puree with pea shoots? Choose "the bar menu" for good, well priced options. Fortunately for the last dinner we had the option of a specials menu. The chicken supreme, veg and pommes dauphinoises was absolutely excellent BUT the menu description ended with"cafe au lait". The waiter (Robert) did not know what milky coffee had to do with the chicken and a sous chef came to explain that it was the gravy and cream mix which looked like milky coffee. We ordered the food with just the gravy (excellent) and NO cream. Breakfasts were SO DISAPPOINTING. When Tracy was on things went well (two other members of staff should have been there but weren't). On other days things ran out - bread, plates, bacon, eggs (all very basic) and on the Sunday the manager and deputy manager had to help and even then no hot food was available until 8.15 (chefs watch was late). We had a ferry to catch and so only had yogurt and toast. It's a shame but I don't think that we will be going back to this hotel again .

The staff are great but the hotel and cleaning need to be improved. Rooms are tired, and not cleaned properly. Our room had items of clothing from the previous occupant and used sanitary ware in the bathroom bin.The corridor carpets are stained and dirty. We had a meal within the restaurant on one evening. We were disappointed with the overpriced and potentious food and so did not eat there again. The hotel has the potential to be a great destination but requires a great deal of care, remodelling, attention to detail.

"Wedding weekend"

We stayed here for two nights to attend a family wedding. We stayed in the new rooms which very comfortable, other friends and family stayed in the classic rooms which are definitely in need of renovation e.g. wobbly beds, as is the honeymoon suite e.g. Dirty stained carpet, where the newly wed couple stayed. There were definitely not enough staff to cope with the wedding and the large number of guests staying although you can not fault the staff that were on duty for the weekend. Despite these negatives the bride & bridegroom had a fantastic day.

The hotel outside is nice, the “double” room was just two single beds pushed together, the food was acceptable (when available), the staff were happy and willing to help, a special mention to Tracy, always helpful and nothing was too much trouble, and should be promoted. Also must mention Julie the manageress. Its advertised as a hotel and spa, so booked in advance spa treatments, we received a phone call from JONATHAN (spa manager) to say he would email to confirm (did not happen).after arriving JONATHAN spoke to us just as we started to eat our evening meal he explained that he thought he had emailed us confirmation, we found later that he only dealt with our treatment request that evening, the spa itself is small, the changing rooms were in poor condition. On the third day a lot more chlorine had been added in the Jacuzzi and had to leave as our eyes were stinging!! JONATHAN does not seem to have the required customers services or spa skills, this heavily advertised spa fails to deliver, although the hotel is acceptable

We have stayed here before and found it very good but this time we were very disappointed with numerous things. The restaurant seems to have a big problem with flies which is not very nice when you are trying to enjoy a romantic meal and have to keep swatting them away . They kept running out of various different items of food even such basic things as bread and cheese at breakfast and housekeeping don't seem to think it is there job to remove dirty glasses from the room and we had to keep returning them to the bar ourselves. The only member of staff that seemed to know what they were doing was Tracy and she seemed to spend most of her time apologising for other people's mistakes.It's a shame but I dont think that we will be going back to this hotel again .

My Wife and I wanted to spend our anniversary in a country location in suffolk and opted for the Honeymoon suite with fourposter bed and jacuzzi. For an evening that we were looking forward to, we have both come away disappointed. The Jacuzzi bath was filthy with lots of hair in the jets and plug hole. The Shower room and toilet were in the same state with hair in the shower tray and lime scale on the screens. The bed was very comfy however I had a really troubled night sleep as the main door to the room had gap all the way around so this made the room very chilly, on top of this the path is gravel outside the room and I had people walking up and down until 3am which kept me awake. Food was really nice at the hotel but unfortunately there was no atmosphere in the dining area and one to many flies. The staff were excellent and a pleasure to meet although the accomodation was well below average which has left us very disappointed.

I stayed in one of the Chalet rooms two beds pushed together to make a large bed.Saying that I had my best sleep for a long time in a hotel I stay away on business a lot .The room was clean and tidy and had everything you want ,I feel it needs some TLC like a repaint .On the Saturday night there was a party on till 11 ish with loud music no problem ,would have been nice to be told about it before hand because I didn't know how long it was going to be on for it could have gone onto the early hours and I was up at 7 on the Sunday morning . Breakfast was excellent Dinner was ok for me ,Staff helpful. Would I stay again YES

We stayed in a chalet bedroom with twin beds. The room overlooked the car park. Decor needs updating and new carpets needed. I found the bathroom a bit grotty. The food in the restaurant was really lovely. The staff were friendly and obliging.

Following our original wedding location closing permanently, we succeeded in booking Brome Grange - Tithe Barn for our July wedding with just two months to go! Johnathan was great, if a little overun. More of our guests were able to book to stay there both before and on the night of our wedding, which added to our experience. The rooms we used were well presented and clean, staff friendly and helpful and the food we had in the bar the night before was lovely. The Tithe Barn was just beautiful! Simple decorations made it sparkle and the old-time feel of it was wonderfully romantic... so much better than our original location! We and our guests had a fabulous time there, so thanks to Jonathan, Julie and all at Brome Grange. We really appreciated finding you and be able to book with you for our wedding.

The staff were all lovely that we encountered but the room was basic and not as clean as I would like - just needed a bit of tlc. Great location if you are en route somewhere for a stop over and plenty of places nearby. Not a hotel to it and relax in but great for a base.

From the moment we arrived until we left the service was very good, Staff really friendly and helpful, eating in the restaurant on 1st night - meal was very good, fresh cooked , nice and hot and reasonably priced. Room was clean and roomy. Cleaned daily. Fresh clean towels etc. Hairdryer, iron & ironing board. Plenty of tea & coffee for room. Bar not too busy but again really friendly staff taking time to chat inbetween serving. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely return.

Had a 2 night stay here including dinner and breakfast. We were celebrating our anniversary. Staff are lovely and friendly and the evening meals were excellent. The bar tender was a lovely guy and very chatty. However some things let the hotel down which is a shame. Our room wasnt cleaned properly, the bed wasnt made just the duvet pulled up over the creased sheet, the bin wasnt emptied and the complimentary bottle of prosecco from the night before left in the room with the used glasses, the shower gel wasnt replaced either. Breakfast on the first morning was cold.The tea offered at breakfast is in a tiny cup and is poured for you when you arrive so is cold before you drink it. No one mans the spa giving people the impression it is closed. We booked a massage each in advance, before we arrived which we were supposed to have on the Sunday and were really looking forward to.However it seems the duty manager Jonathan was also doing the massages as well as manning reception and dealing with other issues.We arrived at the treatment rooms and my partner went in first while I went into the spa, however he was left on the massage bed for approximately 25 minutes with jonathan popping in and out but no sign of the massage starting. We were very dissapointed as we had been looking forward to it. I believe most of these things could be remedied with better deployment of staff. This could be a lovely place to stay but some staff are over stretched which leads to these failings.

We had a 2 night stay including dinner and breakfast to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. I cannot fault the service and hospitality we received during our break. The moment we arrived we were given a tour of the hotel, luggage taken to our room for us. We received a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. We were well looked after and took full advantage of the spa, including a facial and massage.The room was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. The food in the restaurant was beautiful. The staff were amazing, from reception, restaurant, housekeeping and bar staff. All of which I will be emailing for the 'Jewel' recognition. Thank you all for making our weekend perfect. We would love to visit again soon.

It is situated between Norwich and Ipswich, so it is good if you need to service or visit both locations. It is remote, as it is set on the A140. If you upgrade to the executive rooms, then you should not have any problems at all. I have not stayed in a standard room, as these were in need of some tlc the last time I did.

On a very, very hot evening the staff couldn't have been better helping our meeting and dinner to be conducted without a hitch.The meal was produced efficiently and on time and was delicious.70 people were served with a smile. The Tithe Barn was a good venue with its own kitchen and bar separate from the hotel.

The overall rating is 'very-good' due to the excellent staff, lovely location, decent food etc. However, whilst the weather was fairly warm during my stay, it certainly wasn't as warm as it will be this summer which leads me to the only negative. The room; blinking boiling due to a window that would barely open (health and safety no doubt) and no air-con. A fan was requested but all were in use with other guests. This was a 'superior' room (R29) and very well appointed. However, a sauna was an extra most guests could do without!! Management please take note.

We stayed here as we had a wedding and we thought it would be handy. We managed to have an early check in and so we dropped off our bags and proceeded to the wedding. It wasn't until we came back from the wedding that we realised the standard of the room fell short of what I would expect a major hotel chain to be. In particular the bathroom was somewhat hazardous, especially as I have a young child, the bath cover was broken at one side leaving dangerously sharp edges. There was mold around the bath and general brown grime inside the bath. Breakfast was a bit of a shambles, no one seemed to know what they were doing, running around and having to wait for basics like eggs and beans. We asked for a highchair and we were presented with the most disgusting highchair I have ever seen in my life, a member of staff apologised but this is not acceptable because it was not ok as the highchair had more than one previous occupant. There was gravy and stickiness and everything. The wedding was lovely, it was a shame about our accommodation experience especially as we booked it months in advance.

My last stay in a Best Western was my worst ever in any hotel (it wasn't this one). We booked for one night the 'honeymoon' room with four poster bed and jacuzzi. On arrival the manager immediately came to apologise that the jacuzzi button was not working, but took the time to show us the hotel and explain a workaround for the jacuzzi. The room was spacious and had his n her showers in the bathroom. The customer service and friendliness of the staff continued throughout our stay. The breakfast was excellent and tasted much better than most hotels and the girl at checkout was very good. Downsides - the room is at the front of the hotel so you can hear the road, and every car leaving and arriving. Additionally you can hear staff in I think the kitchen which is adjacent to the bathroom. This didn't bother us, but it will some people. My only other feedback is if you are going to serve coffee at breakfast as a waited service then mugs would be better than cups - not enough coffee for me. Overall - yes we'd definitely come back and stay again, and stay in that room.

I stay at the Brome Grange regularly with work and usually it is very good. The rooms are clean and the beds very comfortable. However on my most recent occasion the shower was only lukewarm and the shower head was damaged so there was a poor spray. Outside of the room there was a general sign of poor maintenance, the grass had not been cut and litter and leaves on the paths which is a shame as it is a beautiful setting. That said I wouldn't hesitate going back as it's still better than most in the area - but please sort the hot water!

We booked here to attend a funeral in nearby Eye. Upon arrival we were shown to a superior room which was enormous! We had booked it for £65 B&B it had a massive bed and tasteful furnishings and a very nice ensuite.The room was very clean and tidy. It was at the front and not far from the Norwich road. It was quiet inside with good double glazing but noisy if you opened the window! The breakfast was very good and the staff were friendly. We were pleased with the hotel but it may be worth asking for a room further back from the road but at that price you may not get a superior room as we did.

I would recommend you book well in advance as this hotel is often full! Not surprising as it is a great place for a quiet break, or the business traveller. Their full English breakfast is a classic masterpiece - one which sets you up for the day! There is a small gym & plenty of free parking. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a back room as the hotel fronts onto a busy main road. The shower and bathroom fittings are of good quality in the refurbished block, and comfortable large beds. The staff are all smiling, cheerful & helpful. This was our second visit and we will doubtless be back again! The reception lady (Sarah?) with whom I spoke prior to our visit was very helpful in locating the room we had last year in quietest part of the hotel & did some re-shuffling to ensure we had the same quiet relaxing visit.

We stayed for 5 nights after being told at BW Brook hotel in Norwich that they don't accept pets despite it being shown as such on TripAdvisor. The hotel is on the busy Ipswich to Norwich road but at least they accepted our 2 dogs as guests albeit in a courtyard room. This was not a problem in itself but was quite noisy. On one night in particular, an inconsiderate German van driver left the generator running on his refrigerated truck. This may be a regular problem as it appears to be used as a bit of a truck stop. Having said all that, the staff were very friendly and the dinners were good. The breakfasts are buffet style on weekends but we were waited on in midweek. The room was a general 3 star standard, clean but in need of renovation. I guess this is where they put the dog people. A final note to dog owners, being on the busy road there are no easy walks, I had to drive into Eye where there is a community field and woodland area.

The staff are wonderful however the room smelt dreadfully. The smell of sweaty bodies and the bathroom of drains. I did report this to the reception but seem to be a bit disinterested. I also had friends staying there at the same time as me and they too complained. This place needs a complete refurb. The two rooms which I looked at were so dark and dingey. The breakfast was good however there was no room by the side of the serving dishes to put your plate so difficult to serve there needs to be more room available for people to help themselves safely. Carpets all leave a lot to be desired. I am sorry to have to report this as I don't like to give a bad review but I would stay clear of this place until it has been upgraded.

We stayed here in 2016 and although the place was ok we were extremely let down by the quality of service and lack of breakfast choice and the unprofessional way the staff operated. After some discussions with Julie Campbell, we chose this venue again this year and what a difference. The staff were far more attentive and caring..........basically doing their job but in a far more professional manner. I do feel on both occasions the rooms seemed a little tired and in need of some TLC which actually wouldn't cost an awful lot but it would make the stay more comfortable. The hotel industry is cut throat and I feel Brome Grange could easily succumb to lack of investment and become tatty which would be a shame as it is ideally situated. On our first visit last year we stayed in the upstairs in the refurbished rooms we could not fault it, I booked again this year and asked for one of these rooms and was told that 1 was available when we arrived we were told we were in the Courtyard rooms we went and complained and we were told that the only other room was a small double so we had no choice but stay in the Courtyard room, What a Difference from the last time it was like staying in a different Hotel, We did not have a tray or milk & coffee. I went and asked Jonathan for some it was like asking for Gold Bars, the extractor in the bathroom did not Work, The bath had a big chip on the bottom and Very Sharp, both the Sink taps said Hot on them, the Bath panel was very shabby, there was no Glasses, The Toilet Rolls were very cheap 1ply. We thought the room was in need of a Urgent Make over as it was so Shabby and Lacking Maintenance and would not stop there again

I stayed in a courtyard room as I was impressed last time I visited. Unfortunately, this was not the case this time round. The springs were sticking through the mattress on the bed. Call my picky, but in this day and age, I would expect a mattress fit for purpose. The food in the restaurant was overpriced in relation to portion sizes (I did not dine there on my previous visit). There were different chefs on on the two separate nights I dined. I ordered the same starter (salmon) and on the 2nd night the portion was half the size! In all I would say that some investment in the courtyard rooms is a necessity and standardising portion sizes would be a good idea. On departure, I was not even asked if I enjoyed my stay as is the norm in other Best Westerns I have visited. I don't feel that I got value for money at all so won't be returning.

Booked a weekend break to get away from it all to recuperate and recharge the batteries. This whole weekend was nothing short of superb from the delightful, helpful staff, a bedroom with plenty of room and the comfiest bed I've encountered and my goodness, have they got a chef who really knows his stuff. I have dined at other establishments where the food cost considerably more but the quality was nothing like the food we encountered here, absolutely superb, good value and beautifully presented. This hotel is a hidden gem just off the nightmare road that is the A140 but once in the courtyard you are at peace in this relaxed atmosphere. Finally, the staff - friendly, efficient and nothing too much trouble. If you are looking for a break or a base to explore the beautiful county of Suffolk then I can thoroughly recommend this hotel. Loved it and yes, thoroughly relaxed and batteries recharged!!!

"Comfortable one night stay"

There are several room plans and styles at this hotel. We were offered a courtyard room with parking directly outside. As in any hotel ask to see another room if not to your liking. Staff were efficient and prompt. Breakfast on par with other Best Western hotels. Location is remote but with a handy pub just 3 minutes walk away. Great place for a stop over.

There are good Best Western hotels and not so good Best Western hotels. Brome Grange rates as one of the best in my opinion From our arrival through to our departure seven days later there were only very minor niggles that stopped the Brome Grange getting five stars the major one being that over Easter the breakfast reverted from waiter service to a buffet. My lady and myself walk with the aid of sticks which meant I had to make numerous trips to the buffet to get our food. The net result my other half was finishing her meal as I was starting mine. The staff right from our arrival and throughout our stay were always very helpful and cheeful and seemed to take particular care of my partner. They almost always seemed to appear from nowhere when we left our room. I have a penchant for real ale and craft beers and when I asked for information on local pubs that served a 'Good Brew' there was no shortage from the bar staff. If I had to give a gold medal to any one member of staff at Broome Grange it would have to be Sara Bootie. We had booked for the Christmas Break last year but I was taken into hospital an the beginning of December and could not go. Sara remembered my case and went out of her way to make up for our disappointment of Christmas. Sara,we look forward to spending next Christmas with you.God Bless you. A beautiful friendly hotel with lovely rooms and the staff are so nice and do anything to help. The gym and Jacuzzi are really nice. The food is of the highest quality and although next to the busy A140 it is very quiet and relaxing.

My wife surprised me and booked a night in the honeymoon suite here as we after our wedding here 9 years ago we left straight for the airport and could not stay. The room was lovely, clean and spacious with a big 4 poster bed, double jacuzzi bath and twin showers. We had champagne on arrival and the food was perfect. Would recommend Sarah and all the staff here to anybody.

We returned to this hotel as it is perfectly located for interesting days out. Our room was perfect overlooking the courtyard ,with plenty of hot water for the shower.All the staff were very friendly and helpful ,particularly Julie the manager and Katherine who was on breakfast duty, she brought us delicious coffee and the Broom Grange special brioch bun which is preferable for me as I don't like a full English! We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would also like to give a big shout out to Neville who is the epitome of efficiency and charm.

we stayed for the weekend as part of a group of 40. Our room was perfectly OK and comfortable in the main block but many in the courtyard had no hot water and poor drainage. It could not be fixed and looking at previous reviews this is clearly not a new problem . These rooms should be removed from sale unless repaired The food in the evening meal was poor at best The short rib of beef was possibly the worst tasting and almost impossible to chew that i have eaten and the other courses very ordinary except for the risotto which was quite good The staff did their best and were all friendly and helpful but the senior management need to sort the issues and stop taking short cuts..

Thank you for your review. The Group Booking were kept informed at all stages during the investigation process concerning the hot water problem. Heating Engineers were on site the same day and again later that day to install a new Circulation Pump and then Guests enjoyed hot water. "Very Good Weekend Break"

Thoroughly enjoyable weekend break with group of Friends. Staff, particularly Catherine at Breakfast, were extremely helpful and friendly. Only two disappointments. One was Breakfast one morning when Dining Room completely ran out of cereal bowls, and a long wait ensued for replacements. We were told the 'problem' was everyone arriving at Breakfast at the same time! This I suspect had been caused by Fire/Smoke Alarm going off at 7.00am for approx. 10mins, obviously raising everyone from their beds. This was also an issue the General Manager promised to look into on our Departure; the absence of any 'All Clear' Signal. on the plus side though, the Hotel is very well situated, with great amenities, lovely staff, and good food.

"Hotel good, take a hairdryer though!"

We have just stayed here in room 32, for two nights. The toilet kept backing up, and the water was cloudy all the time we were there, reported on leaving. Take your own hairdryer though, the room does supply one, but it is very heavy and you have to keep a button pressed to use it, it's much easier with your own It's really nice and central, good for visiting lots of places, and the hotel is brilliant, don't let our review stop you staying here! A good pub is further down the road, loved the meals there Nothing too much trouble xx

The hotel is easy to find and well located for touring the local area. Upon arrival the Recepionist, Amy, was unable to recommend any places of interest to visit so make sure you do your own research in advance. Food is good and plentiful. Hot water is plentiful if you want it either before or after the morning and evening "rush", otherwise it is luke warm. Room 11 was clean but smelled strongly of smoke, which is odd or a non-smoking room. THe room lighting was not great though. Overall, and for the price, it delivered.

We stayed 3 nights over new year on a special package. Good value we thought. Our own experience was pretty good, but other guests were complaining that there was no hot water for their showers and that their rooms had mould in the bathroom!! We had a reasonable room with space & comfort and fairly decent bathroom. However, our room was in a renovated "stable" block so we had to walk 15 yards to the main hotel for meals (not so good with it being winter and dressed up for the evenings) Breakfast: all good, self service, full English. Too stuffed to bother with lunch. Dinner: Good quality and enough to eat. New Year's Eve dinner was really good because they added in some courses which made it a special treat. NY Eve disco was supposed to be 50s but everyone wanted modern music so that's what he played in the end. NYDay breakfast was a disaster, although we didn't complain. They decided to make it a later start, thinking everyone wouldn't want to be up earlier. However, because of this, they did what they called a "brunch"!! Oh dear, it was kedgeree (rice & eggs). Everyone hated it and said: "where's the 'fry-up'?" We also would have enjoyed a normal full English to, but just kept quiet! I had a word with reception later and said that I was sure they had learnt a lesson from that!! We went into Diss but it was like any other town really and because the hotel was on a main road, there wasn't really anything much to see or visit. Overall, we enjoyed our break so that's why I've given it a "4" rating.

"Wonderful stay"

Stayed here for our anniversary for one night in a suite. The room was lovely, very spacious and modern albeit full of character. The food (both Sunday roast & breakfast) was very nice and we loved sitting in the bar, we were even supplied with playing cards which was a nice touch. The only thing I would say was an issue with our stay was the dirty carpet in the room, from the door toward the bed. Other than that, it was a lovely stay in a wonderful hotel. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

We stayed in an Executive bedroom which was clean and well equipped. It had a balcony overlooking the courtyard (although this was not used because of the time of year). We stayed for one night midweek and booked bed, breakfast and evening meal. The room was very comfortable and quiet. We used the spa facilities and enjoyed the hot tub. A major high-light of our stay was the evening meal which was truly first class - it was beautifully prepared and tasted amazing. The best thing about this hotel is the level of service from ALL of the staff. We have had dealings with the manager right through to waiting staff, and every single one of them was very polite and nothing was too much trouble for them - They are the biggest asset of this hotel. As such we have already booked up to return to the hotel and would recommend this place to anyone.

"An enjoyable stay"

We stayed here in September '16 for the first time and it won't be the last. The reception staff made us feel very welcome and on arrival we were shown to our room. This makes a very pleasant change from having to find it for ourselves! We had booked a twin room and this was located on the first floor at the rear of the hotel so did not experience any traffic noise from the adjacent main road A140. There is a disabled lift which we were able to use for getting our luggage to the room. The room was large with comfortable beds and plenty of storage space. The only downside was the bathroom. This was extremely small with no bath but a double sized shower cubicle instead that lacked a soap holder. There wasn't much room between the edge of the sink and the shower door (see photo) so virtually impossible for two people to share at the same time. The lounge and bar areas have a lot of character and a pleasant relaxing atmosphere. The menu in the restaurant offered plenty of choice and the meals were served piping hot, cooked to perfection and very well presented. The restaurant staff were charming and still kept smiling even when under pressure. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they added very much to our enjoyment. The location of the hotel being directly on the A140 allows quick access to so many lovely places in this area - RSPB Nature Reserves, National Trust properties and the larger towns for shopping etc. On returning back after lovely days out there was always plenty of space for parking. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and look forward to staying here again.

We stayed in the cottage. Its a lovely little cottage ,just needs a little tlc and the kitchen needs to be re stocked. . (Glasses and cups) The little court yard at the front needs a tidy up and road wasn't to much trouble until Monday morning. We eat in the restaurant on the frist night the food was lovely. The berckfast was best on the frist morning.

"Not as good as expected."

Well there were some lovely points to our stay: a good breakfast one morning, plentiful hot water and some pleasant staff. Sadly they let themselves down with lots of other parts. - Executive suite - not much different to a known brand basic room. -Beds - 2 singles pushed together that tried to move apart and 2 duvets zipped together which caused some discomfort. - Only 1 mug - only rectified when asked for. - Next to no toilet roll. - Extractor fan in bathroom did not work - clogged full of dust and filthy. - general bathroom cleanliness - needs a good clean, lots of dust and damp beginning to form. - Breakfast cutlery and equipment was not clean. After spending extra to upgrade a room (more than a basic and superior room), I honestly don't think it was worth it, the small balcony was nto worth the extra cost and we were very disappointing. The website does not show the rooms well and can lead to disappointment.

Stayed for one night and thoroughly enjoyed the time and will do it again really soon Staff so helpful rooms very clean. Food excellent and a good variety to choose from. Even though near a very busy road we had no road noise and felt as though we were in a tucked away location. Value for money excellent

the room was spacious and comfortable the reception team were friendly and could not do enough to help the bar was comfortable with a good range of ale (closing at 11!) breakfast was disappointing, limited range and not very well prepared (undercooked tomato, chewy sausage and shrivelled fried eggs) but the hotel is not expensive, I suggest you get what you pay for.

When we arrived and were given the keys to the annexe room I was a little apprehensive but having stepped through the door ,it was cosy and spotlessly clean .having paid in advance for our meals the breakfast was spot on and the service first class ,as soon as you ordered the drinks they were there lmmediately with your morning papers the staff were amazing .The evening meal was exceptional ,all courses were first class and nothing was too much trouble if you wanted something that wasn't on the menu they were very accommodating. I don't very often go to a hotel and every thing is perfect and very good value for money .we got exactly what it said on the packet.

My husband and I first stayed at this hotel on Saturday 21st May as we were attending a private function in the Barn. Food and service at the function was excellent. Breakfast and service Sunday morning didn't meet my expectations so I complained on checking out and asked for the Manager to call me. I was offered a complimentary stay to restore my faith in Best Western. My husband and I returned on Saturday 24th September and our experience was 5 star. We ate dinner in the restaurant and the food and service was lovely. The breakfast is now self-service, which seemed to work a lot better. The staff seemed happy to be working there and were very polite. I gather some staff changes had been made since our previous stay. We stayed in a superior double room, which was very clean and comfortable. It is very easy to give a hotel a negative review if you were not happy with a stay but I resisted doing this and contacted the General Manager, Julie Campbell direct to get my issue resolved. If you are looking at a hotel in the Brome/Diss area I would make this your number 1 choice. Thank you Brome Grange Hotel for a lovely stay.

I have just come back from a 2 night stay at this hotel. The room that I stayed was tired and needed updating( ceiling had odd spots of paint on it,skirting board had 2 different colours of paint on it. However I cannot fault the food. The Cauliflower soup was very good and the Hunters Chicken was the best that I have ever had. husband was so pleased to have proper homemade chips rather that the standard frozen offerings. the Eton mess was equally good. Breakfasts were also good. the waiting staff were excellent and could not fault them. a word of warning though as you turn into the hotel be careful of the huge pot hole in the drive, I hit it with my car.

We stayed at Brome grange on a great little breaks deal ( or some sort of internet deal-I forget which). It was excellent value for money to say the least. we had a very nice recently refurbished room in the main building, No bath but great shower , comfy beds, Bottle of Prosecco and chocs in room. Dinner ( included) was first class, well cooked beautifully presented. We ate in the lounge since there was a large party in the dining room . Better decor and atmosphere in the lounge really. Breakfast was typical chain self serve buffet adequate without being inspiring. All in all a very pleasant break .We shall return when another offer presents itself.

We were here for a wedding reception, the atmosphere in the tithe barn was perfect . The food was very good well presented with plenty of choice if vegetables . Good choice for the evening buffet and staff very attentive , we will definitely be going back to try the menu in the restaurant .

So, we use this hotel frequently for dinner and lunch whilst traveling from Essex to Norfolk and I have to say that we have not been disappointed with the quality of food for a hotel in this price range, which actually is pretty good! On this particular occasion we traveled up in the late afternoon and so I thought that it would be a good idea to stay over night, I called the hotel and asked for the "best room in the house" given availability, they offered me the Bridal Suite, Great! on arrival, nicely greeted and taken to our room which is outside of the main hotel in a converted farm / stable building I suspect, this would have been properly enchanting and quaint with a 4 poster bed but actually we were immediately greeted by a damp smell and feeling. I needed to turn on the, thankfully supplied, fan heater to take the damp air away and make the room more comfortable, the room was dusty with cobwebs and is clearly in need of some TLC. the dampness is probably not helped by the hot tub Jacuzzi in an alcove, no doors to separate this water and steam from the bedroom. The carpet is in serious need of a clean / replacement and the room generally is below standard for a "Bridal Suite" IMHO. The en-suite shower-room is neat and tidy but again there was mold evident around the tiling, toilet and shower tray, nothing that some TLC can't fix. We had instructions on how to use the phone but there wasn't a phone so no room service! I hope and expect that the rooms in the newer part of the Brome Grange are much better, but for us we were a little disappointed. On an upbeat note, our dinner was very nice and so was breakfast! its good value for money and has a good country house feel in the bar and lounge. The recently refurbed parts of the hotel are to a far higher standard and I'll choose an exec suite next time.

I stayed in a Courtyard Room, which I chose intentionally for peace and quiet, with the added bonus of being able to park outside the front door. It had a quirky, 4 poster bed which was very comfortable. The room was large and the bathroom was clean with plenty of towels. There was a divan bedspread in the cupboard, which I used at night as it is getting cooler and 4 good pillows. The radiator was highly effective and heated up/cooled down quickly plus there was a fan heater in the cupboard. The room was larger than average, which was a bonus. It is only a short walk into the main hotel, with all the amenities you would expect. Staff is unobtrusive and very helpful. This is only a short review as I have nothing negative to say about my stay; it was very exactly what I was looking for and priced very reasonably at £80 a night. I didn't eat here so I cannot comment on the food.

Wouldn't take much to make this place AWESOME. Staff are really friendly but lack some experience. The breakfast is poor. Quality is good as chef is good but the presentation is lacking. Chef - get out to the table. Your excellent cooking is being left cold and messy. This is such a shame as get this right and this would be one of the best hotels in the U.K. I kid you not. Dinner was a massively different experience. Chef is class. Rooms good and comfortable. Would use again but doing the above would make this place awesome.

Booked a 2 night romantic break with my husband for my birthday. When we arrived at lunchtime Thursday we had a lovely lunch in the bar followed by a walk whilst our room was being prepared. Although I had booked a superior room we were upgraded to a lovely room with a balcony for free. Room was lovely and clean and very quiet. The spa and gym are in the building and we were able to use it for free, going back and forth in the provided robes many times. Dinner was served in the main dining room. The staff were very friendly, very professional and the food was fantastic. Never going to try to cook my husband a rib eye steak after tasting his!! Breakfast was just as good with so much to choose from. Spent the 2 days relaxing, eating and drinking. Perfect break away. Would certainly go back. A big thank you to everyone there, especially to the chef!

Had been to this hotel before and was not impressed, however we decided to give it another go as we wanted to be in the area. On arrival we asked for a quiet room, and was impressed with the room until we realised that the room was above the Jacuzzi and had the noise of it constantly cutting in and out. This room (36) was very dark and had a lot of noise from traffic as it faced the main road. The cleaner failed to clean the bathroom floor, there were cobwebs all around the skirting boards and items were never moved to be cleaned under. The base of the bed was larger than the mattress and we constantly were catching our ankles on it so much so we resorted to putting the cushions on the corners to stop this. You couldn't have individual bed lights on. It was either both on or both off. But worst of all was the huge and I mean. HUGE hole behind the wardrobe where repairs had been done to the bathroom and not been finished. Breakfast was not good. They had taken off the menu the kippers and smoked haddock which was once there and charged a £3 supplement if you had smoked salmon which I did and it was a menial small slice. Bread for toasting must have been the cheapest from Tescos and the tomatoes really hard. All in all hardly worth the money. One day I had bacon and tomatoes and the bacon wasn't cooked properly, raw on one side. When I ordered my breakfast on the Sunday which was help yourself day ( I had ordered smoked salmon this day), I had to wait 20 minutes for it to arrive as they had to fill up the trays on the buffet first. So my husband ate his and was finished before I even got mine. For an overnight stop this hotel might do. Foolishly we booked for 3 nights

On arrival we were greeted by an extremely friendly receptionist who promptly checked us in, gave us a tour of the hotel, and showed us to our room. The room was an acceptable size, with a nice modern bathroom. It was well equipped with all the facilities you expect. The WiFi at the hotel is an asset, as I couldn't get any signal on my mobile! We couldn't fault the room at all. The spa is ok. I would think of it more as a "bonus" as opposed to a reason to book here. It is what it is really... a small gym and a hot tub. We weren't expecting this though, so was a great surprise on arrival. A huge let down to our experience was the breakfast. Lets start with the positive... the restaurant had a generous amount of staff on shift. They didn't really have any sort of idea about what each other had done - we were asked three times which room we were in. I don't like repeating myself at the best of times... especially when I have just woken up! The food was truly awful. We were told, "it's a buffet breakfast today" which suggests that this is not always the case - so it might not be this bad all of the time. The food was kept moderately warm in trays. The bacon was purely cooked, and the sausages of extremely poor quality. This really wasn't a great end to our stay, and was easily the worst hotel breakfast I have ever had.

We booked this hotel 10 months ago because it was close to where we live and had been visited by friends who found it to be very good. We booked a number of rooms for family and friends. We contacted the hotel in early spring to ask if we could look around the hotel and made a date to do so. When we arrived we were shown the hotel rooms and the facilities by a very enthusiastic member of staff who suggested alternative rooms for some of our guests which proved, on the day, to be a sound idea. The rooms we booked were clean and quite large and well appointed. On the night, our party, chose from the standard menu which had enough choice for all attending. The food was very good and well cooked and presented. The staff were very friendly and helpful. In all this hotel suited our needs very well and would be hard pushed to give a meaningful negative comment.

Called in today for Sunday lunch on a recommendation. Nice quiet dining area, modern and clean as a tasteful add on to an olde worldy hotel. As far away removed from a pile em high sell em cheap "family restaurant" that you can get. ie no screaming diddums throwing chicken nuggets around the room. Served by an attentive waiter and waitress who were discreet but with the ability to know just when you needed their attention ( How do they do that?) The food was perfect. Sunday lunch - we tried the chicken and the pork, freshly cooked with real fresh veg and cauliflower cheese. Generous portions but no skimping on quality. An extra gravy boat with the veg is such a good idea for us gravy lovers. Starters was Prawn Cocktail. But served on a slate! I would normally think this is pretentious but a much more civilised way of eating it rather than fudging away in a bottom of a glass with it spilling everywhere. Too many times we are disappointed with eating out. Carverys now seem like a mass brawl more akin to a rugby scrum. To eat a 2 course meal for two under £25 and have real food and great service we will certainly be back. Compliments to the staff and chef

"Good & Bad"

Recently spent three nights at this Best Western with my wife. Firstly the good. Quick and efficient check in, receptionist even showed us to our superior room on the first floor in the main building. Nice spacious room with the usual laminated furniture, tea/coffee making facilities, steam iron, electric fan, safe, hair dryer etc. Large comfortable bed and pillows. Small bathroom with shower and toilet. Good hot buffet breakfast served in the comfortable the dining room. We didn't have dinner in the hotel but the menu looked pretty good and reasonably priced. Plenty of free parking. Hotel is located conveniently for several eateries and local attractions. Now the bad. The housekeeping staff were very poor, wash basin, shower cubicle not cleaned, towels were folded up and placed on a radiator which wasn't on inspite of being sopping wet, bedroom carpet not hoovered, I accidentally spilt some sugar on the carpet and it was still there on our return. So Mr manager how about some quality control checks daily, select a room randomly to see if the girls have carried out what is expected of them. As a frequent user of Best Western hotels world wide and a rewards card holder I expect better than this.

"Comfortable stay in Large hotel just outside Diss"

8 of us, 7 cyclists and a back up driver arrived here to a warm welcome. I believe we all had nice rooms and stayed overnight before touring Norfolk. The staff were all pleasant and both dinner and breakfast was tasty and efficiently served. There was a lot of variety and is willing go back and stay again. It is near a main road and as it was hot we did have windows open and some said they heard the noise but it didn't bother us.

"Almost a 'Great Little Break'"

This was sold as a romantic break and the advertised 'extras' were all provided. The 'classic' double room was a little disappointing - very dark and in need of some TLC. The TV was unwatchable and although reported as such, was not fixed. Despite these problems, we found the staff very pleasant and attentive. The major plus point was the restaurant food which was of a very high standard. It was a pity that the restaurant itself was uncomfortably warm and harshly lit.

"Birthday weekend"

Myself, husband and four friends attended Broome Grange Hotel last weekend. We had a fabulous time, the food in the restaurant was amazing, Kim the chef, was incredible with his dishes. They looked amazing and were truly delicious. My friends are used to fine dining in top restaurants and they said that his dishes were of a very high standard. More detail to attention could be made in the restaurant to attract more local people, maybe white table linen and lower lighting and advertising because this chef needs to show off his talents. The hotel staff, Sarah on reception was so polite, helpful and an asset to this hotel. Another member of staff, I think his name was Dan was another exceptional member of staff, a very hard worker and obviously held great pride in this hotel to do his best to make things good for their customers. I know that this hotel has had problems in the past but with staff like the ones mentioned above will make this hotel go far. The bar and bar area with their huge fire place and lots of original features was great for lounging in. The rooms were very comfortable with their lovely comfy beds and decor. Again more attention to detail needs to be made in the rooms especially the one we stayed in but never the less a very pleasant room to stay in. I do feel that housekeeping needs to know how to clean and restock rooms. Please praise up Sarah, Kim and Dan as you are very fortunate to have these staff members. Thank you for a lovely time x

"Disappointing"

We stayed for one night, which coincided with a wedding and reception at the hotel. The wedding appeared really happy and we hope they had a fab time, but the venue seemed to struggle to cope. No hot water in the morning, the first suggestion was to wait 10 mins and try again as there were lots of people drawing water and in the past it got better. Then told there was a fault with the boiler. Breakfast was chaos with not enough tables so the serving team were rushing around setting up tables in the lounge but cutlery and milk jugs were in short supply as was toast - but there was a supply of dry sad looking grapes. The check out team offered a discount without even being asked and the 2 groups checking out after us had the same so I presume everyone received it. We would far rather have had hot water and a relaxed good experience at breakfast. Sorry to be negative but the stay was spoilt. The room was ok, there was plenty of parking.

Stayed for 3 nights. Breakfasts were excellent and freshly cooked, with good selection of fruit. Used restaurant once in evening and the food was excellent and very good value. Room was in new part of hotel and which was quiet and comfortable but a little dark. Overall enjoyed our stay, very helpful and friendly staff, great location for exploring Suffolk / Norfolk.

"Last minute booking"

Have been meaning to write this review since April so apologies to the hotel. That said I had a lovely birthday getaway at The Brome Grange. Nice staff, excellent food (chef is amazing!!!) so good that my partner commented and he never expresses much so it must have been good??. Mini facial and massage were included in the deal: The massage was the best I've ever had (thank you Dan) - so good I paid for another the next day myself. The facial was good too so much so I didn't need to wash my face for two days and no oily forehead!!! The only minus was had problem with the toilet which took 3 phone calls to finally get sorted but it didn't spoil our time there. Suffolk itself is underrated I think and will be going back to that region again.

"A mixed bag - some good things, some not so good"

First the positives -Staff very polite and friendly. Food excellent. (breakfast and evening meals) General public areas clean, tidy and well presented. Bar well stocked. Receptionist changed the room when we found that self catering cottage had steep, open tread stairs to the bedroom. In other words not pet friendly/practical. Not mentioned anywhere and I had rang before hand to check all pet friendly rooms were on the ground floor. The negatives. The overall cleanliness of the room was disappointing. When mentioned the bed was moved to clean behind but that I think just released more spiders. Towels weren't changed. The description of the hotel was that it was in 4 acres of grounds. The grounds are actually a field that is to the side of the hotel, and not usable as covered in thistles. As we were taking the dog with us this was particularly important and why we booked in the first place.

"Wedding weekend"

After a fraught journey was welcomed by very professional staff. The garden room was a little tired but bed was extremely comfortable. The venue was lovely for a wedding reception. Breakfast was ok but the serving area was a little untidy. The lovely young man who hosted at the wedding reception seemed to work 24/7 ... ultimate professional. Overall this venue wins points on its staff. The rooms could do with a bit of attention but nothing major. Affordable and comfortable. Lovely location. Very reasonable prices for drinks etc. Would recommend for a weekend getaway.

Myself and a group of friends stayed for one night on a Friday in August and really enjoyed the whole trip. The staff are extremely friendly and really care about the personal touch with their service, with the guests and also with the food which was fantastic. The rooms were all lovely and we enjoyed a nice drink in the bar area which is very cosy.

Stayed here with my wife for our anniversary and were delighted with the friendly efficient service. Stayed in a superior room which was large with a king size plus very comfortable double bed. Modern, well decorated room with flat screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities. The en-suite was a large room with a double shower cubicle, toilet and wash basin. Very clean and fresh with ample towels. We stayed two nights on a bed, breakfast and evening meal deal and were extremely pleased with all of the meals we had. The evening meal choices were very good for each course and the sizes were generous, presented with a flair and delicious. Breakfast was also very good with a selection of fruits and cereals with the hot food being cooked to order. Wine and beer was also not expensive. Will definitely stay here again. Only negative point was that there is no air-con but they will supply fans on request.

This is a very tired hotel, the rooms need modernization and a good clean. The bed was clean and the towels were fresh but the room in general lacked that nice fresh feel. We had dinner which was excellent, but this was let down by breakfast which was cold. The staff were very helpful and the general ambiance was good, just pretend your camping and a couple of nights stay goes quite well.

We were booked into the cottage for 2 nights B&B but found it incredibly hot and very noisy as it backs directly onto the busy main road outside. The "self-catering" element is practically non-existent as there were no glasses, but about 30 knives and forks. A quick over haul of the kitchen wouldn't go amiss. Also appreciate that the cottage has not been refurbished, like other areas of the hotel. There is a great space outside the cottage, so when it is refurbished, a small patio area with tables and chairs would be a great selling point. Double glazing, air con, a new bathroom and a better equipped kitchen would make this little cottage a great place to stay and you could attract more of a premium for a nights accommodation - appreciate there may be limitations due to age of building. We enquired about moving to a different room given our bad nights sleep. Thankfully there was another room available which we duly accepted and stayed in the following night. What a revelation, the room was spacious and quiet and nowhere near as hot as the cottage. We were grateful to be given an alternative room. I would perhaps have given the hotel 3 stars given that the cottage was 2 stars (at best) whereas the room was a 4 star review, but on the balance of everything I feel that a 4 star review is appropriate. The hotel was excellent value for money (not sure whether our room would have been more if we'd had that from the start) but no extra charge was levied. We only ate breakfast and whilst it was tasty, it was a bit hectic at times with crockery running out several times. If the hotel knows how many guests are staying, why not leave out enough plates, bowls etc to cater for everyone. It would also have been nice to be given a pot of coffee on the table too. But these are relatively minor gripes. We didn't go hungry! We only had one drink in the bar. Reasonable prices and a good selection of drinks and local beer/cider. A bit more attention to detail on a few things and this hotel could be a gem. Staff were very friendly and provided good level of customer service. The price represented great value for money. Any more and the review would have been 3 stars! But taking everything into account it was a good stay.

We went for dinner in The Courtyard restaurant. At first we were disappointed as the menu excluded items that we saw online (as we had already selected before going) however I wasn't disappointed with my second choice, neither was my partner. The mains and desserts were well presented and delicious. We will be back.

This is our fourth visit to Brome Grange, which gets better at each visit. As ever, the staff are super and can't do enough. The place is spotless and the catering excellent. Niggles: We ordered a Daily Telegraph, but only got four out of eight. Little explanation for this and I suspect that an early riser might have been nicking ours! The wifi is also flakey and our room tv was a bit of a joke. No ITV basic programmes available so we missed some of our favourite programmes. This really needs sorting out. We usually stay in the "Sheds", as we affectionally call them, but this time were in the main house, which is extra. For what we paid, we expected everything to be perfect and it wasn't ( See above). This hotel just needs a little more care and attention from the owners and then it would be five stars.

Not my first stay at this hotel but will probably be one of many. From the moment I arrived everything went smoothly. Check in was a delight with the wonderful Sarah, (Whom I believe is destined for great things) My room was impeccable with space, good wifi, lovely bathroom and a good night sleep. The restaurant is very good with a varied menu and a fine dining experience. The courtyard and garden are a nice place to enjoy a drink. If you fancy some exercise there is a small gym, adequate for most business or leisure travellers, a hot tub and a steam room (remember to switch it on 30 mins or so before you go in) A lovely stay, only wish it had been longer. Another favourite to add to my list.

My partner is staying here during the week in order to work nearby. I have popped up for a couple of nights and I thought I would write a review. Our room (superior double) is very spacious and comfortable. The bed is huge! This evening we ate in the restaurant and we were expecting the food to be fine but not spectacular. I have to say though that we were more than pleasantly surprised! I chose the Thai chicken curry. It was succulent and so delicious that I asked the lovely waitress to thank the chef! My partner chose the burger and he said it was absolutely delicious. Again, we passed on our appreciation. We finished the meal with Eton mess for me, which was served in the most beautiful way. My partner chose ice cream, which he again found very tasty. Usually, we would choose a different place to eat for a second night but not this time! We shall be back again tomorrow!!

"One night stay to visit friends"

We booked the hotel as it was near where our friends live in Suffolk. Staff were friendly and welcoming and we were initially given room 24. When we got in the room it was a suite with bathroom, small boxroom lounge and bedroom and looked a bit dated but ok. We then tried to open the windows to get fresh air but realised the reason the room was so hot was that we were above the kitchen and the windows were closed so that you didn't smell the kitchen extractor fan immediately below. We had to shut the windows again and luckily they were able to move us to another room 2 doors down. Still in the original part of the building and with an en-suite. Room had obviously been updated. It was fine for a night but the small double meant for regular turning and again we opened the window for fresh air but had to close it as we were above the bar this time and people sat under the window to smoke. Also bathroom has those macerator toilets and drainage which caught us by surprise in the middle of the night! In conclusion all the staff were very helpful and polite but the facilities let them down. We won't be staying here again.

"2nd week in a row"

Been at this hotel for the 2nd week now with work. The rooms are nice and clean, some could do with a lick of paint but can live with it. The beds are comfy. The food is very nice too. The only down fall is there are a lot of flys when your trying to eat. The staff are amazing and very friendly and accommodating. The other down side is some mornings outside is a terrible smell. Smells like dirty socks. Apart from that a very good hotel! Will be back again next week Monday!

Has friends were staying at this hotel we thought we eat there one evening. I have given it an average score as that is what it is average. Menu is average Food is average Service is average Driving into carpark is a little trick due to the amount of potholes but as it's been dry they were easy to spot. Maybe in the wetter / darker months these may cause an issue, especially as you have to walk on this section of driveway to gain entrance to the main building.

"Dog friendly venue"

Our labrador Nik decided to take us on a break at short notice. After a telephone call to Julie at Brome Grange we booked a twin room including Nik for two nights at a very competitive price including breakfast. Our accomodation was ground floor opening ontothe main courtyard carpark. It was roomy comfortable and clean. Our only criticism was that the decor was a little tired and the shower could be more powerful. Neither were enough of a problem to deduct points. Nik was treated like royalty and we found allthe staff very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was traditional, served rather than buffet style ( much better ) and we ate in the lounge in the evening ( again excellent food, a good selection and good value ) The only room Nik coulf not go in was the restaurant (no problem) We were located approx 25 miles from the Suffolk coast and about the same to historic Bury St Edmunds. Extensive area behind hotel to walk the dog.

"A really enjoyable stay"

My family and I recently enjoyed spending a few days in the self catering cottage attached to the hotel and had a lovely time. All of the staff were excellent. Very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The cottage itself was a little quirky and slightly tired looking. However, to us, that somewhat added to its charm. On the first evening we had a meal in the restaurant, which was superb. By far the highest standard at a Best Western that I have experienced. Having previously stayed in a Best Western near Penrith and given the cheap price for the accommodation at this one, both Kat (my wife) and I did not have high expectations - we just needed an affordable place to stay. However, we need not have worried. It turned out to be excellent value and even the gym/mini spa was included in the price of our stay. However, if there was one criticism of the place it would be the lack of cooking facilities in a self catered place. It didn't really affect my family as we brought our trusty juicer and blender but all there was to work with was a fridge, a kettle and a microwave. I would have thought that there would have at least been a toaster and possibly some form of hob (even if it were a portable one). Because of the lovely weather, we were happy to eat cold dishes and do our own bbq but the cooking facilities are extremely limited. If you were the kind of family who wanted to cook whilst in your self catered accommodation then this may not be the place for you. Our children also slept on fold out camp beds, which didn't look the comfiest, but I they seemed to enjoy the adventure of it (aged 7 & 11). These are the only things that knocked my review down to 4* from 5* but the place suited us ideally, and we most certainly will return.

"A very pleasant surprise!"

Booking a Best Western has not been a good experience for us in the past, but looking for a last minute, self-catering place to stay in Norfolk/Suffolk in the middle of a school holiday, costing less than £500 for just 4 nights is like looking for a needle in a haystack! However, we found that this particular Best Western had a little self-catering cottage available, at a price that was within budget, and near plenty of good places to visit. We didn't expect a huge amount, going on past experiences, but what we got was quite a pleasant surprise. On arrival, Sarah on reception couldn't have been more helpful. First an offering of water for myself, husband and two children, followed swiftly by a tour around the facilities that we would have access to (a mini spa with steam room, hot tub, gym, and foot spa which we made good use of during our stay), restaurant, bar and outdoor seating area (it was a nice day), before our jaunt over to what would be our 'quirky' cottage for the next few days. The cottage we were told, was on the list of refurbishments yet to be completed, and that is indeed something that needs doing. However, despite the peeling paint in places, old style, single glazed lead lined windows, mixer tap shower and mismatched furniture and upholstery, it really was quite quaint and quirky. Outside there was plentiful parking and there were two foldaway beds provided for the children in the living area. Left to our own devices, we decided after such a long journey to book for dinner in the hotel restaurant. Again, past experiences meant we were expecting much, but it was a beautifully decorated place, perhaps the food would match. We hoped it would be, as it's not the cheapest of places to eat. Once again, we were pleasantly surprised. Service was wonderful, and the food, quite frankly, was beautiful. Well cooked, well seasoned, and a lovely range of things to choose from on the menu. So why not a 5*? Well, given the quality of the accommodation, there couldn't be a fifth star to this review. It's not that it was bad, but we were fortunate that we had been planning on prepping our own juices for breakfast (brought the juicer). if you'd have fancied toast or a fry up, you'd have been out of luck as a toaster and hob or cooker were not available. Despite the write-up on Expedia stating that it had a full kitchen, there was just a kettle, microwave and fridge. A definite lack of cooking utensils as well as appliances, meant even if you wanted to have your own BBQ, which we did (we bought disposable ones - not one provided by BW), meant that we were using regular cutlery to tentatively turn our burgers. There were no glasses, so teacups were used for every drink until we went out and bought some beakers for the children. It's not unusual to have to bring your own teatowels and washcloths, but it might be worth mentioning in the write-ups too. With the weather being so warm, we were a little unfortunate not to have been able to leave the door and windows open, as the big kitchen bins were just across from where we parked our car, meaning the rather awful smell permeated the building if we left it ventilated. Can't be helped I suppose, but we did notice that the bins were overfull, so the lids weren't down properly which would be what caused the smell to travel so badly. Despite there being plenty of parking, on one morning we had to ask staff to move the bins too, as they had blocked our exit. Finally, on our last evening we had to prepare to leave at 4am for a funeral, but when we tried to get parked outside the cottage to load all our gear into the boot, it was again blocked, this time by other residents vehicles. It would be useful for staff to notify residents that the cottage is in use perhaps, or have a sign saying no parking, as it meant we had to cart all our stuff from one side of the cottage to the middle of the car park in dribs and drabs at 4am. At any time of the day it would have been a pain though, to be fair. None of the negatives mentioned though, have outweighed the positives of our trip, which is why we still maintain a 4* review for Best Western Brome Grange Hotel. Get those refurbishments done, fit the kitchen properly, and perhaps look at some more clear parking arrangements for the cottage, and it will be a truly lovely place for a family to stay. Thanks for helping to make our short break a really good one. We shall most definitely be returning. I just hope the price doesn't fly out of our reach once it's been done out. ;)

"Plastic flowers"

If you like plastic flowers, dated decor and are willing to eat elsewhere this is the place for you. The bedroom in the courtyard was spacious. That's the only good thing I can say. When we complained to the manager about the food we were offered a free night there. No thank you. Best Western--- this hotel really lets you down

"Good & Bad"

The main hotel has recently been renovated, nice bar area with real ales always a bonus, really good evening meals. usual buffet breakfast plenty of hot & cold food including good choice of fruit. Spa & beauty rooms but no staff so several ladies in the party left disapointed. The garden rooms are dismal & frankly not very clean one of our ladies bought some bleach in a vain effort to clean the toilet, Such a shame that what could be a nice hotel is let down by poor housekeeping & lack of attention to detail.

We held a group event for 27 members over 3 days, the staff and organisation are brilliant, attentive and helpful, the rooms are well appointed, the restaurant consistently creating fabulous meals. We recommend this hotel very highly if you are planning an event.

Have stayed here twice now, both on business. The second time, due to a summer offer, I went for the executive room rather than the standard; what a difference. The standard doubles are in the courtyard / car park area and have the feel of an American Motel. Being a female on my own I didn't feel particularly safe. The executive double was in the main hotel and was very clean and modern. Food is of a good standard and quality, both evening meal and breakfast.

After travelling all day on the ferry from The Netherlands we chose this place as it was a good distance from the port in order to drive north. We arrived and were promptly shown our room which was a really good size for three humans and one dog, clean and inviting with plenty of tea and coffee too. We went into the bar for something to eat but they had stopped serving food, so the lovely lovely barman helped us to find a take-away so we didn't have to go to bed hungry. The dog was welcome in the pub which is always a winner with me. The bed was sooooooo comfortable we had such a good nights sleep. Breakfast in the morning was faultless and we all enjoyed our visit. Thank you all, but especially to the chocolate loving barman who made our night!!

We were drivng around looking for a hotel for the night, having been let down by the one we originally booked. The Brome Grange was far superior and we were delighted to be warmly welcomed by Sarah at reception. She is very professional and showed us a room, No. 4, equipped with a beautiful wooden bed, before taking us on a tour of the hotel and Tracey served us a welcome cup of tea in the bar. We had an excellent dinner, chosen from a well balanced menu, and a delicious red wine. My partner was not feeling well and Tracey asked if we would like our meal sent to the room, a lovely gesture. However we stayed on in the dining room and then made our way to bed. Next morning we woke early, and enjoyed a good breakfast in the dinng room. We would highly recommend this hotel, for the professionalism of the staff to the charm of the building, and the amenities offered.

"Very welcoming "

Stayed for a couple of nights as a quick mid week break. In arrival we had a friendly welcome and shown around the hotel and to our room. This hotel has obviously had bits added on over the years and it is a Warren of corridors and staircases which adds a bit of charm and adventure. We were staying in the newer it of the building and the room was large and lean. There was no bath but a huge well powered shower. Even though this was the hot estate day of the year the room temp was not too bad and there was a fan to move the air around. There are only a couple of negative points about the room, the wardrobe almost covered a huge hole in the wall which had obviously been created to gain access to the bathroom plumbing and not made good. Secondly the large very comfy bed had legs that stood out proud and it took a couple of stubbed toes or so to remember to stay clear. We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and the food was tasty. There were a couple of ingredients missing from both the breakfast and dinner choice but having said that we enjoyed the food. The bar is in the old part of the hotel which was pleasant and a good place for pre and post dinner drinks.

Have stopped previously as well as this week. Booked via BW central reservations and asked for an upgrade. On arrival was given an upgrade and shown to my room by the receptionist Sarah who was so polite and professional. Room was large modern and clean with powerful shower. At in the bar , food and service was excellent. Had a good night sleep in comfy bed although if you are a light sleeper would suggest you ask for a room away from the road. Would happily return to the hotel and recommend it to others

My daughter and I had a lovely meal, expectionaly good food, and a very relaxing time in the spa and steam room. Dan, the manager was very pleasant and helpful as was the other staff members making us feel very welcome. If you do not want the hassle and bussle of a busy spa then coming to the Willows at the Brone Grange will achieve to relax you

We stayed at this hotel for the first time, and right from the start we were felt really welcome. The receptionist was kind and friendly, and even showed us to our room. The bedroom was clean and well decorated. It was one of the recently hottest days, and although no air conditioning in bedroom a fan was provided. The restaurant and staff was very welcoming. They presented us with a 2 or 3 course priced menu, however as we only booked B & B, and did not require a full meal, requested a smaller menu which had a good choice. The meal was excellent. Lovely quality and nicely presented. The breakfast also had the usual full English which you had to order and was freshly cooked. An excellent stay in the Countryside.

We booked two rooms for a weekend break with friends and cannot speak highly enough of the rooms and the friendly staff. We ate in the restaurant one night and the quality of the food and the presentation was excellent. I would recommend this hotel to anybody. - Excellent

Brome is situated on the A140 midway between Ipswich and Norwich. Our visit was simply a break from children and grandchildren. This may sound harsh but we do love them dearly. It is just sometimes refreshing to steal away. We were not expecting much but our opinion soon changed. We were pleasantly welcomed into the hotel and from that point on the staff were attentive and showed a zeal to make the stay as pleasant as possible without intruding unless asked. The rooms we had had recently been refurbished and to a good standard, parking was adequate but the most surprising of all was the standard of the food in both quality and presentation. I am hesitant to recommend it but only because I would not like it to fully booked when I next try to visit.

We had two hours spare and decided to go for lunch we tried two other local places one we were turned away from as they were closed until 12pm (we arrived at 11.45!!) The next had the entire entrance bollarded across so last attempt the Brome Grange. We found our way to the bar and were met by a cheery assistant and ordered drinks and shown a nice lunchtime menu. I had Hunters Chicken which was nicely presented and very filling. My wife had Chicken burger in a Brioche bun with relish and mayonaise equally filling. All in all very tasty and we were pleased to be welcomed so nicely and attended to by the friendly staff. We got looking at the rooms and offers too whilst we were there and would seriously think about a stay. Quick observation the front of the old Brome Grange where they have tables etc could do with some nice plant pots etc to make it more of attractive for sitting out in (if we get any summer).

My wife and I chose to stay at Brome Grange for our 10 year anniversary and we were delighted that this was the choice we made. From the moment we walked through the door the staff were simply brilliant. Those on reception were helpful and friendly, the waiting staff attentive, the food was superb and the staff in the spa were approachable and very knowledgeable in helping us chose treatments to suit our needs. It was the little things that made this place stand out such as the staff posting a card to the room congratulating us on our anniversary as well as a complimentary pudding! The room was very modern and spacious as was the restaurant, the bar area with it's open fireplaces and country pub feel added to the charm of the place combining the original buildings alongside the modern extensions. Overall it was a beautiful place and experience and as mentioned in the title we can't fault it, the service, the staff, the food and the spa were amazing and we can't thank them enough for making our anniversary even more memorable. It was a long drive from Manchester but 100% worth it. We would definitely come back again.

The staff were exceptionally nice, nothing was too much trouble and the Manager was always on hand to make sure any problems were sorted out straight away. The food was very good. We stayed here with a coach party in late June to visit gardens and nurseries in Suffolk. After a difficult journey, flooding and road closures, we arrived to find we had a room in a Chalet joined to others in the very wet puddled court yard. Our room was VERY tired, the door was difficult to open and almost impossible to open from the inside, we had to 'lift' the door, holding only the lock to get it open! The carpet was the best part after that it went downhill, the bathroom must have been fitted at least 30 years ago, the hot tap never turned off, the basin and bath needed to be thrown away. The floor was wet, painted black concrete, cold and really not anything good to say about it. The radiators were very large and very hot when we turned them on to dry the place out. The 'hut' did not have double glazing as the car park was behind our hut it noisy when cars 'swung' in during the night/ early morning on a gravel base. The beds were soft and fairly comfortable but we both felt nervous about them as we felt they could be damp but they were not damp. We did report all these problems but nobody got back to us We had our 3 evening meals at the hotel served in the tithe barn which is a very pleasant place to eat in, although detached from the main hotel, we got wet when moving from our rooms to the barn. The food was fairly standard in content but beautifully cooked and served hot and with speed, the bar was well stocked and a good time was had by all Our overall experience was good the staff always friendly and helpful, but please stay in one of these 'huts' in very wet miserable weather to experience our comments!

When booking by phone we asked for a quiet room and were told that all their rooms were quiet. On arrival we found that the room was more like a semi-detached cabin in a row of such, one on each side of the parking area behind reception and the main building. We had been given one at the end nearest the A140, a busy main road with heavy goods traffic to Ipswich which is fairly continuous. There was no double glazing and the walls were thin enough to hear our neighbours voices clearly and every time they closed a door or drawer in their room. There was a peanut on the floor of the room, though it looked clean otherwise (snacking cleaners?) and a rip in the reverse side of the duvet cover. The mirror over the basin in the bathroom had lost some of its silvering at the top but was usable and the bath water was lovely and hot. The evening staff when we arrived were lovely and went out of their way to be helpful, not least the chef who made special efforts to see I had my dairy -free choices from the menu. Our meal was good, wine was excellent, a pleasant evening all in all -until we needed to sleep. Next morning the staff seemed less happy. Maybe a large group of exuberant Danes had worn them out by 9.a.m. At £99 per night it was more than advertised on the website, though not bad value for DBB but not an experience I'd willingly repeat.

Very pleasant stay, with very attentive staff. Room very quiet, if planning to stay try for one of the rear rooms at the back of the main car park. Food was very good, we were part of a large party touring the area in vintage cars, and the staff catered for us very well indeed. All in all a very pleasant stay.

We staying in one of the annexes which was basically a 1 bedroom small house complete with kitchen, living room and upstairs bedroom, absolutely loved it, very quaint and comfortable. Would certainly stay here again if we are in the area. There was a wedding on during our stay but as we were outside the main hotel across the car park we didn't get disturbed. Breakfast was the usual help yourself so no complaints there either.

Stayed here for my Dad's 80th nearby. Room 37 in main block, facing road but very quiet and cool in summer. We have a thing about hotels with low water pressure but this was excellent with an excellent shower and newly refurbished room. Evening meal was good; usual pub grub. Breakfast excellent and very tasty. Staff friendly and efficient. Sarah on reception showed us around properly and took us to our room. There's nothing not to like and up to usual Best Western standards. We'll be back!

Stayed in first floor upstairs room at the back overlooking field of daffodils,very quiet. Room appeared to be newly refurbished and was very comfortable.Plenty of parking. Ate in the hotel restaurant in the evening- good food at reasonable price. Breakfast was also good though would have preferred coffe pot on table or a mug rather than having to ask for refills of cup.

Quiet hotel located about 50 minutes from the coast and other major attractions. Pet friendly rooms are a good size and surround a courtyard so no need to traipse along corridors through numerous fire doors at night to let dogs out! Large bathroom but lighting rather dim. Staff very welcoming and dinner and breakfast were good with a wide choice.

The staff were really helpful, breakfast was similar to other Best Western hotels but unfortunately I had to send the black pudding back ( it had been cooked some time before but kept hot and was like a crisp). The room we stayed in was of a good size but some of the furniture needed a coat of paint and the bath had been re-siliconed but they had not taken off the previous layer and it looked a mess with lots of mould by the shower door. I like white towels but ours looked a little grubby. In general the room needed redecoration, main lights did not work but the bed was comfortable and very clean.

We stayed here for one night over the May Bank holiday as a getaway with a couple of friends. We thought that the dinner/bed/breakfast deal was great value for money. Our rooms were lovely and the evening meal was good. The steam room wasn't working. Unfortunately the 'out of order' was put on the door to the jacuzzi which was in working order, though covered over so not very welcoming. The receptionist helped sort this out. The food at breakfast was cold, though staff seemed keen to resolve the problem. All in all we had a pleasant stay.

We took a much needed short break at Brome Grange and came away feeling we had had a two week R&R stay! The bed was really comfortable & well proportioned (I am a bed fuss pot having broken spine some years ago). Quality toiletries in a good size bathroom with extremely efficient shower & super-size fluffy towels. View out over what may have been a nursery field at one time full of daffodils and rabbits jumping around. Very quiet site, excellent restaurant and bar, and all staff are top notch, happy and cheerful. Easy to find near Diss, back, plenty of free parking and Wi-Fi. Thoroughly enjoyed everything at our visit and plan to go back very soon for another dose of tranquillity!

"Average is about all I can say"

A well deserved weekend away with my husband.... On arrival you can see there is some sort of work still going on although car park area looks tidy and welcoming. Greeted by the receptionist who said I'll show you around and take you to your room, we followed her only for her to open a door to a corridor and she say ' bar and restaurant down there', that was us being shown around!!! Off to our luxury room which was tidy and clean with very a small double bed. The shower room was again very small, it had a large double shower which was lovely but the hand basin was opposite so very tight getting in and out without banging yourself. We booked for our evening meal for 8pm. On arrival we were handed an A4 sheet of paper folded in half with the menu on and another smaller piece of paper with the 'specials' on, both of which were very tatty. We were then told that the main meal on the specials was no longer available and that the hock terrine was also not available and if we wanted the rib of beef it would be a 45min wait!!. So we chose our meals I had mackerel followed by steak my husband had asparagus and poached egg followed by steak both to be cooked med/well. My mackerel was soaked in grease so was very unpleasant to eat there was no offer of bread or rolls and the steaks were one over done and the other under done, they both came with a large mushroom which had so much salt on it that you couldn't eat it. my husband commented to the waiter who said he would tell the chef. Breakfast in the morning was the best meal of our stay. The second evening we decided to have a 7.30 sitting to see if there was more choice again the specials main meal was unavailable but we were able to try the terrine which although very salty was better than the mackerel. I had scampi and my husband had a homemade burger both of which were average. The next table ordered the terrine only to be told it was now unavailable!!! Breakfast on the second day was a disaster it was for some reason self service and although in covered trays was Luke warm and anaemic looking. Waitress service was also poor with one waitress spilling olive oil all over one couples table narrowly missing someone's lap! Although we were not overly enamoured with the service and quality of service the bed was comfy and I slept well. This is definitely is no more than a two star accommodation and canteen food.

I think the kitchen were having a bad time when we visited! The room was fine, staff very good and always smiling, but sadly on both nights we stayed our main courses were very overcooked and therefore dry, and staff very promptly offered to reduce the bill. (Making us wonder if this has happened before!) The desserts were amazing though! Would we go again? Possibly, as everyone is entitled to a second try!

We stayed the night over bank holiday.we done a dinner stay and breakfast stay.the rooms were lovely couldn't fault anything in the rooms.the staff were very friendly and very helpful.we booked in for dinner at 7pm.we had a choice of a 3 course meal.the food at dinner was lovely and very hot and presented very well. Had a very good nights sleep and not much noise about either. We went for breakfast in the morning early about 8.30 am. Again the staff were very friendly

The weather was awful but the Hotel and all the staff were very cheery with a sunny outlook, they made the stay as comfortable as possible for us. When booking I explained we are disabled and the room allocated was perfect, large so it would allow us to bring in the wheelchair if needed the walk in shower was large and easy to use. The reason for picking this hotel was to both use Tesco's coupons and visit nearby Bressingham Gardens both of which where fulfilled

Miserable staff roast beef tuff as ol boots red wine soposdeley Merlot more like cider vinegar no access to hot tub rooms were dusty toilet paper like sand paper bed sheets were creased breakfast was late no bath mat in my en suite no ariel on the TV no biscuits to have with my tea definitely will not be staying again ever very disgusted with my stay I don't rate it any stars shame because with the correct staff could be a lot better

"Two sides of coin"

This hotel is a curates egg. Looks like they are doing a complete rebuild/refurb. The new part is a delight but the courtyard rooms are old and in desperate need of a makeover. The restaurant was fine although on a Sunday evening they only had a limited specials menu. Would like to have tried the a la Carter. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Stayed here on a 2 night deal but upgraded to a superior room. This was in the new extension and was well worth the extra £s. Hotel very clean, staff very friendly and helpful and food was excellent. Had a very nice bar area with a nice log fire which was very welcoming on a cold grey afternoon but not many guests seemed to use this. Well placed for visiting Norwich and coastal resorts in Suffolk, would stop here again

Staff very friendly. Lovely room with slanted ceiling, watch end of the bed though as wooden and kept knocking shins when walking past it as edges stick out and got covered in bruises. Unfortunately sauna not working but lovely whirlpool. Not a great choice of Chardonnay wine and tasted rather warm so had to change my choice of drink. Food very nice but service a little slow at lunch in the bar and at breakfast. Evening meal fine. Lovely surroundings, beccles worth a visit

It was my first time staying at this hotel, and I have to say that the service was exceptional. Friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived. The hotel has recently been renovated and the new facilities are perfect (gym, wellness centre etc), the restaurant also offers fantastic food. The rooms are spacious, modern and clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who's passing through.

This is a lovely hotel near Eye in suffolk, in a quiet location, ideal for a base to visit the attractive towns and villages in this area and also into nearby Norfolk. It is in a stand alone situation set back off the main road in its own grounds, the accommodation has been built around an old English pub, which is now integral to the hotel with real wood fires in the bar and lounge, the small town of Eye is close by as well as a few restaurants and pubs. The rooms are spacious and clean with good decor, tea and coffee making facilities, there is a small gym and a steam room and jacuzzi, this is the only area that we found that could benefit from a little TLC. Overall a nice place to stay, if you like it quiet, the staff are very welcoming and friendly and the food is very good, with a varied menu with plenty of choice, changing daily, real ale is available in good condition, all reasonably priced and they do offer great bargain breaks.

Our relatives travelled from all over the country to stay with us all weekend and celebrate. The service was excellent from start to finish. Lovely meal together on the Friday night in the Courtyard restaurant. Just cannot fault the service and care of Julie (Manager) and Mandy (events manager). Breakfast was comprehensive and cooked to perfection. Our celebratory family meal in the afternoon was superb and went so well. Followed by a wonderful evening in the Tithe Barn with family and friends dancing the night away. The rooms (8 rooms) were very clean and comfortable with all amenities included. Wifi was very much appreciated by our teenagers! Nothing was too much trouble. I was actually pleasantly surprised that considering the hotel is seated right beside the A140, you would never know. The soundproofing in the rooms is amazing. A memorable, thoroughly enjoyable weekend was had by us all. Thank you so much Julie, Mandy and all your staff!

Being right on top of the A140, and with the amount of traffic that uses this road I thought that a good nights sleep would be difficult. Wrong! The glazing and sound proofing was excellent. My room was in the new part of the main building with a huge roof light window that allowed great amounts of light in, and opened to provide great ventilation, but you do now hear the parade of Scania's and Volvo trucks bound for Ipswich. Crisp, clean, modern decor tempered by a traditional village bar and a spacious restaurant area, and a fine and tempting menu, together with friendly and attentive staff topped off a good week here. I look forward to a return.

stayed the night before and night of my daughters wedding. I know we didn't have wedding there but had 6/7 rooms for 2 days. My daughter and I was in room 1 family room. BED WAS HARD. THEY BROUGHT 4 BREAKFAST TO ROOM ALTOGETHER SO SOME WHERE COLD WHEN THEY GOT TO THEM AFTER HAIR/MAKEUP ETC. HAD TO ASK FOR TEA/COFFEE TO COME. WE ASKED FOR BOTTLE OF WATER. THEY DIDNT BRING GLASES AT FIRST. WANTED TRAYS OUT OF WAY TO BE ABLE TO MOVE IN ROOM TRIED TO RING TWICE NO ANSWER SO WENT INTO RECEPTON. if you go for breakfast it is ok had it there second morning. you would think they would look after you more with room service as you have to pay for this. watch out when you go to pay they try to charge you more.

I have stayed here on several occasions and have to say that the improvement was good, however ... We had a room in the newly refurbished block, the room was large, quiet with the usual things like tea making facilities and ensuite with shower. The bed was large and very comfortable, lots of lights and a TV. The let down is with the housekeeping staff, the room itself was very clean as was the bed linen, Some of the towels were threadbare and looked like they had been left behind by a guest, we had to ring down to get towels as the second day none were left, only beverages were left for one even though there are two of us. The shower is still not clean and the bathroom has water stains down the wall and it smelt musty. Breakfast was much improved, could have done without the plinky plonky Disney music playing constantly. The quality of breakfast was good but we played the 'Lets see what we get today' game each day we asked for exactly the same but the breakfast was always different, day one we got full English with two eggs, no tomatoes and a teaspoon of baked beans, no coffee refills offered. Day two full English one egg, huge helping of beans one of us got mushrooms one didn't. Day three full English one egg, plus everything else Toms, mushrooms, hash browns, sausage, Bacon, ample beans and endless coffee!.. Service was hit and miss I guess the first two days we had a trainee who is not to blame ...the trainer was. One thing I felt odd as waiting staff cleared tables they sprayed tables it was like being on a log flume, bit damp...let alone the fumes. we had to wait for ten minutes to get wholemeal bread for toast by which time breakfast was cold. The reception staff were great even though our key had to be reset every day. Overall I thought efforts/improvements have been made just need someone with an eye for detail

Dated decor, dirty, poor standards of housekeeping. The standard of the reception area, restaurant and main hotel were miles away from the grubby, dated room in the ground floor area we were allocated. The grassed area outside the rooms was unkempt and scattered with litter. An alarm sounded at 4am but as reception is unmanned from 11pm to 7am there were no staff around to explain/assist. Manager's response to my complaint about the standard of room was for us to ask for a refurbished room on our next visit!

A group of four of us had a fantastic spa package with lunch, dinner and an overnight stay. The spa (massage, facial and nails, use of gym, steam room and jacuzzi) was perfect - Dan and Leslie really went out of their way to make it all special for us. The hotel itself and restaurant was lovely, if a little tired looking in places and with quite a long wait for the food (although the food was very nice and we were given a complimentary bottle of wine for the wait). Good size, clean rooms with all amenities. Excellent, friendly service throughout. Honorary mention for Jonathan Perfect (what a name!), and a double thank you to Leslie and Dan. We will definitely come back for the next birthday treat!

"Appalling tired room"

The worst room I have stayed in -mould and damp on walls, ant colony and spider web over the glasses. Only gave a point because the staff are friendly. Trouble is they know it is bad and there were notes on my check in sheet to move me to a better room. They didnt bother and then in morning said that they werent full. So why put a regular customer in such a dump. I stay in the area every week so they have lost a substantial amount of business. DONT STAY HERE AND CERTAINLY NOT IN THE COTTAGE!!

"Excellent stay"

The reception staff were efficient and welcoming. Julie, the manager, spoke a few words of welcome as we were shown to our room - yes shown, not just told how to get there. She spoke to us each time we saw her throughout our 3 night stay and her cheerful presence set the tone for the rest of the staff. The bar staff, especially Tracy, could not have been more helpful and also ensured that the wood fire in the bar lounge burned brightly each evening. The original flavour of the 16th century coaching hotel was still evident here. There was a lift to the first floor. Our superior twin was spacious and well appointed after a recent refurbishment. It had air con (not essential in March!) and very efficient heating and double glazing (very essential). Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Even though the hotel is on the A140 the room was very quiet. Just one quirky feature - the safe in the wardrobe was at ankle level!! Breakfast was really good with self service cereals/continental and waiter service mains. We will be back!

My daughter treated me to a Mother's Day meal here. There was ample choice on the menu to chose from. The tables were set out lovely, including a potted plant for all the 'mums'. All our meals were lovely, very well presented and enjoyed by all. The staff are all very professional and attentive but likewise not over bearing. Overall highly recommend this place.

"Peaceful location in Suffolk"

Set in its own grounds, the Brome Grange is a quiet location, away from the town. The room was clean, the food was well cooked and the layout was good, with a nice traditional looking bar area and fine dining area. A couple of issues, of service and cleanliness, could have been overcome but we can all be picky.......... Nevile the barman, made us welcome Sunday evening. Overall very comfortable and worth the visit.

"wonderful food, friendly and superb value"

We opted for the Romantic package booked via Great Little Breaks for £180 for 2, which gave us a nights accommodation Double room (Saturday night) with a bottle of Prosecco in the room upon arrival (with 5 strawberry heart chocs also), a 30min back massage, a 25min Elemis facial, a 3 course Dinner (up to the value of £24 each) and a full english breakfast the next morning. For the money it was superb value. The spa treatment times were arranged via phone the previous week but when we arrived we had been moved to another slot, not an issue but a phone call to say so would have been appreciated, instead we took advantage of the jacuzzi and steam room for an hour (and were offered a complimentary soft drink by way apology). The quality of the massage and facial were top notch, one of the best massages I've had, we were both super relaxed afterwards and skin glowing! After the treatments we went back to the room which was in the main building (there are some in an outside block which as it was raining I am glad we weren't in as having to cross the car park to get to them would have been not great). The room was large and in good condition with a great power shower and 6ft bed!. No complaints here at all. Later in the evening we had a 3 course dinner with plenty of options that would suit any taste and palette from pub classics to more refined dishes, we had Fish and chips, mackerel with rhubarb and ginger chutney and a fantastic beef shin dish. The portions were generous and in the end we shared a dessert as were stuffed. A nice bottle of rioja was around £17.50, which we took to finish in the pub style bar next to the restaurant after finishing Dinner. The rooms were very quiet / peaceful and a good nights sleep was had. Breakfast was again of very good quality, one of the best hotel ones we've had, with continental buffet to supplement the served full english (there were a few other options but some had a supplementary cost). In places the hotel is a bit shabby around the edges, the tiling in the spa for example but it's not rough and for the value and friendly service I'd happily visit again.

We stayed at the hotel to celebrate our parents Golden Wedding Anniversary. An outstanding hotel, very friendly and helpful. The staff couldn't do enough for us. we were a large family group. Booked multiple rooms and the restaurant for 12 people. Excellent food at a good price. Rooms Very Spacious, large beds and bath, and we were able to bring our dog too. One minor suggestion would be to offer a vegetarian alternative for the cooked breakfast. But still excellent choice to choose from. The staff went out of there way for us, and help make a memorable weekend perfect. Even decorating the dining table for us . Thank you so much. Would highly recommend!

We stayed at Brome Grange on a Saturday night through a Great Littel Breaks Spa deal. The greeting we received was so friendly and we had phoned ahead with a special room request which we were given. Our room was lovely, really spacious and spotlessly clean. Through the Spa deal we had robes and slippers and a bottle of Prosecco on arrival. We had a wonderful lunch followed by 2 comlimentary spa treatments which were heavenly. We didn't use them but it had a great gym, and jacuzzi. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant in the evening which was part of the Spa deal. All of the staff were so very friendly and efficient we would most definitely return.

we arrived at the Brome Grange hotel for Sunday lunch and as we stepped into the gorgeous converted barn and we were met within seconds and shown to our table of six near the kitchen. the smell of the food was so good and the chef team got all the food out fast and it was perfect i could not give it a bad point it was lovely so perfect so if you like brill food and great service from friendly staff then i would recommend this lovely restaurant/hotel.

It is very rare for a General Manager at a Best Western to be in close touch with her staff and guests in the way that Julie is at the Brome Grange. This same attitude is reflected in all the staff we met. Even the helpful Spa manager was willing to pull a pint when needed. Tracey in the Bar and Restaurant made our stay into an excellent experience. The superior room we stayed in was comfortable and well appointed. The whole hotel has been recently revamped. The Courtyard Restaurant, like many hotels used mainly for business, is under-used but the food was excellent. Little touches, like mushrooms on a steak meal are grilled and well seasoned and not stuck in a deep fat fryer. In all this has been an excellent stay and we will definitely be returning in the future.

My wife and I went to this hotel on the way to a relative. We arrived a little early but were given our key straight away. I opened the door of an external room. very spacious and well appointed. The bed was massive it was so big I thought my wife had gone for a walk but she was there all along on the other side of the bed. A couple of things that wouldn't have passed people on "four in a bed" but apart from that clean and bright. The toilet seat would be better off with one that fitted properly otherwise it could be an accident waiting to happen. The staff could perhaps be given fire making preparation we did get smoked out of the lounge. The lady who served us at evening meal was very personable. The first breakfast was not buffet so we ordered salmon and scrambled egg we waited 20 mins. But even after that time the scambled eggs were not cooked brilliantly. Coffee was stale. In the afternoon we thought that we would have the high tea on offer we waited in the bar but there no staff available. As we passed by reception I commented on there not being any staff in the bar. A lady apologised and said she should have been there, we had waited for 15 mins before we gave up, however the lady said that she would come back right away. So we went back and ordered the high tea we were brought tea and coffee the coffee was disgusting and I asked for a cappachino which was ok. We then waited for 22 minutes before the sandwiches came looking like somebody untrained had prepared the uneven sandwiches. No presentation not even a table cloth. Not what I would call "HIGH TEA". Breakfast on our last day was a buffet, good presentation of food much better than the previous day. Plenty of coffee fresh food was brought out continually very good. Unfortunately we were in an outdoor room which was very good but it was raining fairly constantly and there were loads of large holes outside the hotel in the car park which we had to traverse to get to our room. My wife is disabled and this was a big problem and difficult not to get your feet wet. The one light shining was not enough, another shining over the car park would be better. Evening meals were a mediocre menu. I didn't see anything on the menu that grabbed me I thought the hotel would have been able to place a higher class of food than just above good pub grub. At the bar I ordered a pint of ale this was off and I returned it and had a bottle instead. Another customer came and ordered another different beer which he returned for the same reason. Another customer said don't drink that it's off I had one earlier. The next day I wanted a drink and asked if the barrel had been changed the bar man said there was nothing wrong with the beer I therefore would not have the drink. Another customer came and purchased from the other pump and brought it back. Whilst I sat at the bar the barman pulled off the rest of the barrel I had refused. As he did so it was obviously the end of the barrel and was off. Well now I would like to give this hotel another chance, but I would like to be assured of improvements first.

Average hotel, average food, basic rooms very dated, staff are good, its a cheap hotel so you get what you pay for. I would upgrade my room if I was to use again. It is somewhere you would use as a stopover, not as a weekend break!

Fantastic experience from the moment I arrived. Very friendly staff, great food, spacious room with a very comfortable bed ensuring a perfect nights sleep. Very modern gym facilities perfectly suited my requirements. Up early for a lovely fresh breakfast to set me up for the day. Checked in with a smile and checked out with one, you'll be hard pushed to find a better or friendlier place to stay, excellent service and value, highly recommend.

My wife and i booked in to a room as my best friend was celebrating his 40th birthday in the Tithe Barn within the hotel. We had about a 10 minute wait on check in simply because 2 other people arrived just before us which is fair enough. The receptionist/manager was very friendly, asked if we wanted any papers etc and showed us to our room. We booked the most basic room but it was clean and tidy and well presented. Last time I went to the Brome grange it looked tired and run down but you can see quite a bit of money has been spent on it now. The car park is littered with large potholes.but there is a large sign saying it will be done shortly which is fair enough. We went to the bar for a bar meal, I had a gammon steak and my wife had a home made burger. The food wasnt groundbreaking but was nice enough. We had a good party in the function barn, prices were decent in the bar. We had a decent nights sleep although one delivery driver came to drop some things into the hotel at 7am on sunday morning and slammed all the doors which was unnecessary to say the least. Breakfast is a buffet style with everything you could ask for. I had a full English and went back up and had some more mushrooms. The quality of the produce in the breakfast was fantastic, high quality bacon and sausages etc. One of the best hotel breakfasts I have had and the staff were very attentive. All in all, a good effort from the Brome grange, decent food, a decent room and friendly staff. Thanks for a nice stay.

Stayed last night on a dinner bed and breakfast deal. When we arrived the company that we had booked with had made a mistake on the booking. However the manager Jonathan Perfect swiftly changed our room and upgraded us free of charge. The food was very good quality and service was good despite it being very busy. Room was of a good standard. They even have complimentary de icer and scrapers for guests. Pot Holes in the car park to be sorted soon and we would definitely return.

Brome Grange is an unusual hotel in that it has rooms arranged around an outer courtyard, but there are also suites within the main building. Its main dining room cum function room is a converted tithe barn, full of timbers and historic, attractive interest. We booked a bed, breakfast and evening meal special package over the night before St Valentine's Day. A bottle of prosecco and a box of chocolates were delivered to our room for only a little extra, to give a special touch. The evening meal was superb. Pre-ordered upon our arrival, the service was excellent and the food exquisite. We were met at the door and taken to our table where there was a red rose for my wife.,A singer with a beautifully clear voice was singing, adding to the atmosphere. She sang for over an hour, and then returned after a short break. It was a memorable event and the dining room was full.

Stayed here on Sat 13th Feb 2016. Checked in at 3pm, dropped our bags off in our room and went out to see family. We came back to the room at about 9:15 and discovered that the toilet wouldn`t flush. I had a quick look at it to see if it was anything obvious but I couldn`t see what was wrong. Went to find somebody to see about getting it fixed - there was nobody on reception but a sign saying that staff were in the reception/bar area. I went to the bar and nobody was obvious, had to go through a door marked 'staff only' to find anyone. It was night time and I just wanted to chill out and sleep soon, so asked the staff member to please try to sort it out as quickly as possible only to be informed that there was a big valentines meal on, the manager was over there and he told me "I can`t teleport over there... I`ll try to pass a message". I went back to the room and waited half an hour, no word. Went back to the bar to find somebody to see what was going on - nobody around at all. Went back to the reception desk and then over to the restaurant and collared a staff member who I believe was the manager. She also tried to make excuses saying that they had a hundred people there for Valentines but I told her I didn`t really care and just wanted it sorted. She said she had tried calling plumbers but couldn`t get anybody out, so they got a kitchen worker who was "a bit handy" to come and have a look. He had a look and found that the water supply to the toilet had been switched off, said "oh the housekeepers probably did it", checked that the toilet flushed once and left very quickly... only the toilet wouldn't flush again after that, even with the water supply now on - I had a look again in the cistern and now with the water supply on it was obvious that something was broken inside. At this point it was about 10:15 and we`d had a long day, we`d already been told the best they could manage was this kitchen worker so I decided to give up and go to bed. We didn`t have a working toilet for any part of our stay. Why does a hotel of this size not have a maintenance man or a contract with an outside company so that they can call them out to deal with problems like this? Also SOMEBODY at the hotel must have known that the toilet wasn`t working before we checked in, which was why the water had been switched off. So why wasn`t it fixed? Sadly this wasn`t the only issue. The mattress I was sleeping on (the bed was like a large double made up of two smaller mattresses side by side) seemed knackered - it had far more give on the outside part than towards the middle of the bed. This meant that as I was laying down, it had the effect of a)twisting my body/back around b)trying to roll me out of bed. My partner`s mattress seemed better, but I got an awful night`s sleep. We also found that one of the cushions on the bed was visibly dirty with a small brown splodge of something - not nice. The car park was also a total state - it`s a gravel surface but was SEVERELY potholed making navigating through it a pain. Lastly when we went to breakfast the first three plates I took off of the stack had food particles still visible on them. Onto the good: Breakfast was slightly better than average. The food was nicely cooked and they had a slightly better spread than some places. Nothing amazing but they had a decent selection of fruit juices, fresh fruit and muesli with dried fruit along with the usual cooked breakfast selection which is better than you get at some places. The duty manager in the morning was quite apologetic when I explained what had happened with the toilet. He reduced our bill from 90 to 60 pounds but I don`t really feel this made up for our experience - how much would you be willing to pay for a room if you`d been told in advance that the toilet didn't work? Basic sanitation is one of the minimum requirements I look for in a hotel room. I`ve given them 2 out of 5 because it seems like if they get their act together it would be a nice place to stay.

From start to finish the staff at this hotel made my husbands surprise 40th weekend away perfect. It doesn't happen often when you have 3 kids! The two of us stayed in the Brome Suite which had the 4 poster bed and jacuzzi bath. Was just amazing and excellent value with 3 course meal and brekkie included. The staff were so very helpful and nothing was too much hassle. Will definitely recommend and be back again. Many thanks to you Julie and your great team :) Kerry

Lovely place to go. Good food and great selection on the menu. We went as a small group and had rooms in the court yard area as we had a dog with us. (good areas to take her for a quick walk when needed) The rooms are large and very comfortable. The bar area is in the old part of the building, with open fires. Don't for get your sports kit (unlike us) as there is a gym and spar. The staff were very help and excellent service all round.

Family run hotel on the main A140. We had room 4 in the courtyard and it was very good, lots of space, well heated and comfortable bed. The downside is that its single glazed so lots of wind noise whilst we were there. The breakfast I recommend is the house speciality, a take on eggs benedict and very filling. The evening meal was good but the menu wasn't very exciting so I had the gammon and my partner had the steak, plenty to fill us up. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The bar stocked two cask beers, maybe ambitious for the time of year. The big downside is the hotel car park it looks like bombs have gone off randomly causing craters that could damage less sturdier cars.

We stayed one night and were delighted with the room and the service. The room was large, clean, warm and comfortable - wonderful king size bed. The bathroom was modern and clean with shampoos and soap. Fab breakfast. Full English, cereal, fruit, yoghurts, juices and more. Lovely bar and comfortable lounge. Jonathan was so helpful and friendly, and even went outside to search for an earring I had lost in the car park the night before, and found it!! We will definitely recommend this hotel and go there again - excellent value for money. Only criticism I have is that the car park is full of pot holes. Jackie.

This was our second visit to this hotel-a fantastic extension has been added & we stayed in the new bedrooms which were very comfortable. The dining room has also been upgraded & the menu is fabulous-we were spoilt for choice. All staff were very attentive & nothing was too much trouble. We had a great time & will definitely return. Special thanks to Jonathan,Mark,Sarah,Tracey & Neville for looking after us so well. We also had some great treatments in the spa too.

Had my work party here on the Saturday and decided it would be easier to stay for the night instead of driving home. Really nice modern room with a huge bath. Very clean and tidy room. Breakfast was 9 out of 10. Very very tasty and the whole experience was really relaxing and enjoyable. £49 for one night, two adults and breakfast included. Can't complain at all! Will defo stay again.

"Midweek Break"

Stayed here a couple of nights for my birthday to visit sights in Suffolk. A good central location for visiting Southwold Diss Theftord Aldeburgh etc. We had a recently refurbished room which was well decorated in a colourful design. A few problems to sort out though,the bed base was bigger than the matress and the lighting dim, I did not see this on arrival and badly hurt my leg. Only one side of the bed has control of the bedside lights so the other person was not able to read without both sides lights being on! Sorh these out and the room was good

"Very accomodating"

We went to brome grange after being let down by another local pub. Although they had finished food Julie the General Manager was very accomodating to our needs and luckily sourced a very kind chef to cater to our needs. Bless him he had already finished work but was more than happy to cater for us in our time of hunger. Everything was lovely and could not ask for anymore and appreciated the flexibility by both Julie and the chef for future for future reference. Look forward to visiting here again maybe in normal hours lol

"A little gem for a weekend break"

I went for a weekend break with three girlfriends and we had the most wonderful time at this great little hotel. The staff were all exceptional, polite and courteous and the service was great. We had dinner bed and breakfast and the standard at each meal was very high. Freshly cooked breakfasts served to your table plus a really good dinner menu, beautifully presented. We had a small problem with the shower in our room and this was dealt with efficiently and the problem resolved to the best of their ability at the time. Nothing seems too much trouble for the staff. The rooms are spotlessly clean and well maintained. Lovely big towels and little complimentary toiletries in the bathroom. Rooms were very quiet, no sound from neighbours

What a great way to spend the New Year. Excellent food, great band and a good party feel. The package was really good value for money. No hidden extras too. The staff were lovely and the other guests friendly. We had to check that the price was as good as we thought.

As a couple we have stayed at the Best Western Brome Grange Hotel twice now, and we have loved it every time! The food is always lovely and the room is more than adequate. The staff are welcoming, polite and always helpful. Would recommend to all couples for a weekend away or even just a short break.

"Noisy disco"

We can to a Christmas night last night, whilst the food was very good in all aspects the ONE that ruined the evening for us and several others who left was the extremely noisy disco, if only people running disco's would turn the level of volume down to suit the size venue they playing in, if it would have been so it would have been a very enjoyable night We are due to attend another party there in the new year but based on last night shall not be attending, But the food was excellent.

"Lovely hotel"

Stayed here for one night at the weekend for my fiancees birthday. Check in was very efficient, with the member of staff giving us a tour of the hotel on the way to our room. We had the breakfast buffet in the morning which was delicious, and had a good variety. We had an evening meal in the restaurant, which was very good, the food very nice and also very reasonably priced. The staff members were very polite and around if you needed them. The bar at the front of the hotel was also reasonably priced, and with the low ceilings, it added to the atmosphere of a cosy pub - which we enjoyed. The room itself was lovely, very spacious, with a good sized bathroom and power shower. The bed was a good size and very comfortable. All in all, the hotel (complete with restaurant and bar) was very good, and ideal for a night away. Will definitely recommend and hopefully be back!

"Nice room, helpful staff, decent bar"

Weird layout and feel to the hotel, but room was nice size and clean. Only one issue with the bed was that the join in the centre of the super-king bed wasn't covered by a mattress topper or anything so was quite uncomfortable when you rolled on to it. Food was okay but wasn't as exciting as it read in the menu, as it was really just pub grub. Good breakfast (best for a while in hotels actually). Would use again if in the area on business.

My friend and I took advantage of a great little breaks deal...we booked in and were upgraded to a lovely room with balcony...we drank all our tea and coffee and asked for more which we were given without issue...the receptionist s were friendly and helpful...we enjoyed a massage in the hotel spa and then dinner both of which were included in the deal.dinner was vert nice..presented well and the waitress was friendly and attentive....the hotel was quiet and we slept well..the shower was large with plentiful hot water...we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and unhurried check out all in all a thourou

Room 124 was very noisy due to a big extractor fan outside the window and would not be any good for people that have trouble with steps as there is 1 large step between sitting area and bedroom. Only 5 people in the restaurant and had to wait 1 hour for food which was the worst meal I have had in a restaurant in 3 years of travelling on business. Complained about the room being noisy to reception but the staff were not interested just wanted me to pay the bill. Next time we have to come to this area for business will be looking for a different hotel.

It's nice to go to a hotel and not find any faults,,,, from when I booked my room, very helpful!! When I checked in I felt i was special. And welcome. The room really nice with a great shower (only small problem) The Bar great !!nice beer for a change, The food I ordered bar food which I could eat in the restaurant very nice. Checkout really happy and helpful. My small problem with the shower "no where to put the soap or shampo" I pointed this out and to day had a nice email to say soap holders being fitted next week. I think that at last I have found a east coast hotel to base my self from. Ipswich and Norwich easy to get to. I can Finnish this by saying all the staff I saw were very happy and helpful.

"WORTH A STAY"

Only stayed the one night. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We ate in the lounge bar in the evening, the food was very good, especially the chocolate pudding with marmalade ice cream. The breakfast was good for the price: a choice of hot food plus cereals, toast with conserves, fresh fruit and yoghurts.

Very good hotel for business stays. Clean, comfortable, excellent staff and very obliging. The restaurant is good with high quality food and good service. Haven't used the spa personally but it looks good and I would use it if I had the time. When I'm in this area I don't stay anywhere else.

I Have used Best Western hotel for a number of years and this must surely be the worst of them all, My room was dark and dismal and having booked for four nights I could not wait to move on after only one. I understand that extensions and upgrades have recently taken place but this is not reflected in the "MOTEL" type rooms. WOODCHIP WALLPAPER went out of fashion many moons ago. I for onr will not be returning

"Lord of the Flies"

This hotel is on the A140 just outside Diss and has ample parking and comfortable rooms. I especially liked the friendly welcome on arrival and being shown to a room that actually has a real key and not a silly plastic card. Bathroom was well-heated and had lovely warm towels although the shower wasn't very powerful or suitable for guests over about 5ft 5. Bed was comfy and I had a good night's sleep (there's no road noise). Unfortunately, there were flies in the bar during my evening meal and then again in the restaurant at breakfast. This was a little unpleasant. Also, I ordered soup & bread as a stater. It arrived without bread and when I queried whether it should have been accompanied by bread, the member of hotel staff replied "it should have done" but didnn't get me any! Not sure if I 'd stay here again.

"Very comfortable stay with delicious dinner"

Comfortable and warm room with plenty of space. Found all the staff friendly and helpful. Very impressed with the delicious dinner and generous tasty breakfast. Room in the annexe does need updating, but a minor issue and thought the stay was excellent value. Would recommend.

"Nice Hotel and very friendly staff"

We visited the Best Western Brome Grange on a Spa Romantic Dinner Bed & Breakfast break to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary. A rare weekend away without the children! On arrival, the Hotel Manager showed us to our room and then gave us a guided tour of the hotel. Normally you have to fend for yourself! Evening meals were good quality and most enjoyable. As we stayed and had dinner for two nights the menu could be varied a bit more as there were two things on the menu for two nights running. Having said that the dinner was very good. Breakfast on Saturday morning was a bit chaotic! Apparently two members of staff had not turned up and the two members of staff present were being run ragged. Items on the cooked breakfast help yourself had run out and were taken time to be replenished. There were also no plates and the bread for toast had also run out. There was also a queue of half a dozen people queuing and waiting for a table. We also had to ask the staff for our tea three times. There has also been a wedding in the function room the previous evening which also meant breakfast was very busy - it was also very hot in the breakfast dinning room. Breakfast on Sunday morning was much better with more staff on duty and the buffet was filled up. There was also a mis-communication between the booking company (hotels.com) and the hotel in regard to the massage and facial we had booked as part of our break. We should have contacted the hotel to book the treatments but we're not told this. However the hotel staff went out of their way to book this in for us on the Friday evening. Our room was also very good - we were in one of the rooms on the terrace which had just been re-decorated recently. Having said all this, we did really enjoy our break and would return again in the future.

"Weekend break away"

This is the 3rd time we have stayed in 18 months, the executive and superior rooms are lovely and big and very modern with a huge bed. The spa and gym is fantastic and would definitely recommend a massage. Although we never ate in the restaurant the cooked breakfast was lovely with a massive choice of cereals, fruit and pastries as well. The staff are all lovely and very helpful and the drinks in the bar are very reasonable as well. We are already planning to go back in Feb ???? thanks to all at the brome grange

"recently refurbished accommodation"

First class newly refurbished rooms with excellent chairs and king size bed which was very comfortable. Adequate but limited menu for an evening meal. Restaurant is adequate for breakfast but needs a much more inviting atmosphere for an evening meal, particularly if outside guests have been invited. Excellent value for money and highly recommended.
