The made up bed was soiled with what appeared to be fecal matter upon our arrival, there were both big and baby roaches present in room and in common areas. The indoor courtyard was loud in the evening and the toilet overflowed. My room was fully comped due to the laundry list of issues and I would not stay here again even if it was free. Raj Guru Hotels, LLC should be ashamed of running this type of establishment and need to get it cleaned up and in better working condition. The staff was equally as disgusted and did everything within their power to remedy, but I will never stay at a Best Western ever again.
Broken toilet in the middle of the night, had to go down and use the lobby bathroom while waiting for someone to fix, extremely high price because of family weekend. Unacceptable. Promised adjustment after inconvenience, never happened. Extremely disappointed.
We have stayed at this hotel three times before and the beds had been clean, but I felt that our room had not been cleaned at all. Both of the beds in our room contained hair (from chest/pubic and head). Sheets didn't smell cleaned at all, carpet had not been vacuumed and there was what appeared to be pink lipstick on one of the large bath towels. The breakfast was a great improvement from our last stay.
This hotel was a nightmare! The only reason I gave it one star was because I couldn't leave it blank. The cleanliness was subpar. There was residue from the last guests still present on the toilet. Do with that what you may. I had to ask repeatedly for clean towels and waited all day on the ones I received. Other hotel guests were very loud and obnoxious, but nothing was ever done to make them be quiet. I understand that an entire baseball league was staying there for a tournament, but we were made to feel as though our peace and quiet and satisfaction did not matter. The staff was friendly and most of them were working exhaustively because apparently they were overbooked. That explains the not- so- clean room and the wait on the towels. Sadly, there is no reason for the staff's lack of concern for our well being or satisfaction. After speaking with other guests, I learned that several were compensated for their dissatisfaction, but I never was. I was moved to the other side of the hallway after the first night because the baseball players were given basketballs and other sports equipment (by the hotel!!) to use in the interior courtyard. When a basketball hit our balcony door, I asked to be moved. This was by far our worst out- of- town hotel stay. Hopefully, we will look back on it someday and laugh. So far, I'm still outraged by the lack of concern given to us by the hotel staff.
This hotel is Clemson themed with traditional orange and purple throughout. The staff was pleasant, the rooms were exceptionally clean, and the overall hotel was well cared for. Several conference rooms, and balcony rooms that overlook a large open conference room that would be great for party's, large events or wedding receptions. Pool, fitness room, breakfast and other amenities make for a comfortable stay! If you are looking for a budget stay that exceeds your expectations while visiting your Clemson student, this is the place!
Hotel was very convenient and pleasant stay . I was the for a weekend solo leisure. Breakfast could be Vegetarian and Vegan friendly . Room size are big enough. The gym was small, little stuffy but decent for me . They had a mini pool at back . Choice of cabel TV was very good
I've been coming to this hotel for an annual conference for over 20 years. My visit this past weekend was the best one. They've done quite a bit to update the hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is coffee in the lobby All the time. While not a luxury hotel, it's perfect for the event I attended. The meeting space is great and the atrium area allowed for different sections to be set up. They have a nice breakfast which included make your own waffle.
I have stayed at this property 3 times in the last 3 times since August of 23 just in that time fame the property is showing its age.
No complaints. Overall great value and good price. All staff were very pleasant and helpful. Very good breakfast with good options Large clean room. Good beds. Would definitely stay here again in the future.
Unique property with inner atrium. 4 stories, large for a Best Western. Very pleasant staff. Rooms are modern/updated. Small balconies for inner rooms facing the atrium. Nice sports bar attached to the hotel, family friendly, great food. I would stay here very visit to Clemson if I could get reservations.
My wife and I enjoyed the large space of our room and breakfast area which served a variety of different hot and cold items, and also enjoyed the restaurant and bar inside the hotel which was nice and convenient. This was a nice hotel at a good value, and we will be back again when staying in the area.
The room was nice and well decorated. The breakfast was good; there was a nice selection. There are meeting rooms and the large conference room is very impressive. There is a restaurant, which is very convenient.
The condition of the room was very poor. The door was broken, the AC sounded like a car engine and did not cool the room, the shower didn't have enough pressure to allow water to come from the shower head, the toilet leaked and the refrigerator didn't work.
The hotel's A/C system is out and each room has a portable a/c unit. No mention was made of this at check in. The A/C units are fine but the only run intermittently. We like to use the HVAC fan as white noise to block out voices in the hallway. You can't with the temporary unit so the room can get loud if you overlook the breakfast area. The portable units also must use a ton of power. The power to our room when out repeatedly (5 times in one hour) and the staff was not very quick to fix it. I'm not sure what they will do when you need heat. We will not be back to find out. Overall the hotel is fine. Beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are fine (a little old).
We had a great stay. Very friendly staff. The hotel was clean and comfortable. This hotel has the best beds. We will stay at this hotel during our Clemson visits. If you're looking for a place close to campus this place is it.
We were overcome by great hospitality and warm service from every staff person. This is our go to stay whenever we are in Clemson. We enjoyed the game. The Tigers won. We drove all the way from Baltimore Maryland. Some hotels provide a bed and a bathroom Best Western provided an "experience" that we will remember. Especially the new restaurant; we ate there each night. The staff became our southern friends as well as the head chef. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Everyone made it worth the 10 hour drive. We will be back. Go Tigers!!!!
You know when looking at places to stay, you see the pictures, read the blurb but the most important part are previous reviews. In theory this should have been a really nice hotel, clean, good service, decent room with sound proofing and a good condition room. Well, sadly, this doesn't match up and in the UK, we think it would fall under trade description guidelines. Sound proofing was obviously an optional extra for this hotel and the box wasn't ticked. There was an abundance of house keeping staff, mainly gossiping and they just kept walking past crumbs on the floor, or litter that had missed the bin outside the lift. A fine case of ‘that's not job', it was still there the following morning. Stains, well on the plus side, it did make it easier to find the room, look for the room with the white stains outside the door, could this have been a bleach job to remove some blood? Then inside the room, we noticed a foot stool was carefully placed over more red stains (more blood? Again not our doing, I made sure to use plenty of plastic sheeting to capture our ‘spillages'). Operating the toilet was always a joy to try not to cut your hand, again, as part of the handle had broken (not us), so when you flushed, it caught your hand. Not sure if there is a cost saving exercise going on, but the idea of leaving a really small bottle of body wash went out years ago and towels that could well have been nappies in a previous life. I'm not sure when the ac unit was last cleaned, but it is so,etching that is obviously overlooked or house keeping just don't care. But, the big sell, the view over the atrium, don't fall for it, there is no natural light, it's like being on a cruise ship, in the below water level floor or an inside cabin, it's a cabin but I'm not a vampire, I need natural light. The breakfast, well, having reviewed it and thinking I don't have any Imodium with us and the way the eggs sulked with a skin on them and the sausage patties had that look of numerous microwave sessions, so decided to skip this. Finishing on a plus, the restaurant next door was really good, excellent service and tasty food, plus it was clean. Would we stay again, I really hope not
Much better experience than move in weekend. The hotel was clean and our room smelled great. You can tell they have more staff and better staff now. Breakfast had more options this time. Our bathroom was spotless and the beds sleep so good. We'll be back.
One of the nicest Best Westerns I've ever stayed in. The room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was full and hot and the breakfast lady was nice. Very close to the university. Staff was polite and friendly. You could tell they were working hard and dealing with a lot. The very short lady at the front desk and the manager with glasses were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They talked to my son about school and she liked them a lot. We would stay again. Great hotel.
We stayed here when we moved our daughter into Clemson. I was impressed with the staff. They are extremely friendly. The manager made our stay enjoyable. She was personable and nice. The room was clean. Breakfast was great. My husband enjoyed the tacos. We loved the open area. The staff said they will show the games there. We will return for football. Go Tigers!
This hotel needs a complete redo. The rooms look nothing like the pictures. Our bathroom has a bit run down and not cleaned very well ..... I found a sock under the sink where the hair dryer was. The staff needs lessons on customer service and needs to clean up appearance. No restaurant or bar at hotel. Mini market .... is mini. The only thing ...air conditioner worked well even though it looked like it was going to fall off the wall.
Brought my son to a football camp. The only positive was the bed was very comfortable. Otherwise, there was a very strong soap like fragrance throughout the halls and even stronger in the guest rooms. I'm very sensitive to smells and this was nauseating. The pool was quite dirty. It is convenient to the major stops in Clemson. But I would definitely not stay here again- we checked out early and found a different hotel to stay for the remainder of company.
Arrived at Best Western Clemson, SC for grandchild graduation from high school, Thursday, May 25, 2023 and checked out Saturday, May 27, 2023. We booked a king size room, it was so clean and very spacious. Loved the room, it even smelled nice in the hotel.
Nick and his staff are just amazing. This Best Western near the Clemson campus was perfect. Beginning with a friendly and dedicated staff wanting to make sure your stay is enjoyable. We stayed 7 days for the Clemson Spring Family weekend. The hotel was clean throughout. The Breakfast was fresh and healthy. Never ran out and the staff was so friendly. Fresh eggs, fresh fruit and juices, baked muffins, and coffee. There was something for everyone. The hotel swimming pool was clean and tended too. Our room had no issue's and the cleaning staff was super helpful asking if we needed extra towels, shampoo's and soaps. It truly was an enjoyable stay. And we will be coming back.
Pretty shoddy overall remodel with poor workmanship. Breakfast and the cafe are it was in were bad. We had high hopes because choices are unfortunately limited in the area, but this one was no better than those around it. Clemson needs a few more nicer hotels which are reasonably priced.
Very nice room and lobby. Breakfast was good, both hot food and things like cereal and muffins. Rooms were very clean and well-maintained. The hotel has a large indoor atrium, which looked nice, but we didn't use. Value for the money was average. It was very convenient to Clemson University, which is why we stayed there.
I have stayed here many times. The location is super convenient to Clemson, Central, Hwy 123 and Hwy 93 corridors. Easy to get in and out of (traffic) and always a clean and friendly environment to stay. The beds are so comfortable, you will struggle with the decision to get up in the morning. Always satisfied with the super hot water in the showers, which helps wash away the stress of travel. Staff is always pleasant, and ready with suggestions for local things to do (or eat). Plenty of parking, for all sizes. Highly recommend!
Josh has been an awesome Night Auditor. He is the nicest guy i've ever met. His service goes a long way! He's a true gem to the company. I have walked in and I have received 5 star performance from him. He puts 110% effort in all of his tasks. Love this guy!
This dude literally saved my life! He let me use his phone charger! He was so kind and compassionate. This man has outstanding manners and you can tell he takes his job seriously. This man's name is Josh the Night Auditor I'd give him a 10 out of 5!!
Stayed here for football weekend. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The overall experience was very good and hotel was clean. My biggest complaint was that the door has gap at bottom and you could hear noises from hallway.
Excellent all around great location and motel was of a great design staff as excellent. Will return in the future It has an atrium with seating and TV's for football weekends design was at its best very user friendly also.
I've been to a lot of hotels in my lifetime, and I've come to know you have to roll with the punches sometimes. Mistakes happen. Managers have staffing issues. COVID. etc etc. I get it, but if your hotel has a broken A/C or a broken toilet, (Or both), you have to fix it and then make it right for the customer. We booked this hotel for 2 nights for the Clemson | NC State football weekend. Paid a lot for an average hotel, but we knew that ahead of time, and I am not holding any of that against them. Supply and demand - heck, you could even say I learned that at Clemson University. When we checked in on day 1, the room was hot and as any frequent traveler knows, many hotel ACs have issues so I turned down the thermostat and waited a couple of hours to see if the room would cool down. It didn't. And by the time we got back from dinner we were tired and didn't want to wait so we toughed it out on night 1. Bad decision. We did not sleep well at all - anyway, we called the hotel who sent out an engineer in the morning and he confirmed the compressor was bad. So they moved us to a new room. Well, we moved ourselves. No offer to help, but for a hotel like this I didn't expect it. They did book us a room nearby which helped with the transfer of our luggage, and they did give us a suite, but this wasn't s suite suite. Keep in mind a suite at this hotel is not like a suite at the Marriott or Hilton. So expectations were low. When we were settled in that morning and were about ready to head out for the game, we noticed the TV didn't work and the toilet ran after flushing ... upon further inspection I noticed the flapper was deteriorated so badly that it would not stay affixed to the chain. So I figured a way to manually keep it from running. I let them know about both problems. They did fix the TV remote issue but when we returned late that night from the game, the toilet still was not fixed. And the toilet cover had come totally off!! Which required my wife to have to squat. Yuk! And every time I she or I used the toilet, I had to stick my hand in there and 'fix it' to keep it from running all night. So the room issues were one thing, but the way they handled customer service was also an issue. The crew at the front desk upon check out could not do anything - they obviously were not schooled in how to take care of a customer. They did not even try - they just told me to call the manager on Monday when they were in the office. So Monday I called. left a message. Called. repeat. Eventually I spoke with the sales manager (the manager did not call me back) and she told me the toilet was working fine. No way. No possible way. Perhaps someone had fixed it and they didn't tell her. But that is beside the point. She told me that because I booked through a 3rd party they could not issue me a credit. So I called Expedia (who by the way is awesome because they took care of me) and they called the hotel on my behalf. They had to call twice because the 1st time they just denied the claim outright. Anyway, the hotel said that moving us to a suite was compensation enough for our troubles and again did not recognize the toilet issue beyond the broken cover. Unbelievable. It's too bad hotel and service like this gave me a bad experience in Clemson. Clemson = awesome, Hotel = not!
We stayed here while moving my daughter in for college. The staff .especially Ayanna..were awesome. But at check in I received different room than was on reservation. It had said balcony with atrium view ..I got first floor with dumpster view. We had a lot to do so I did not complain. My room key did not work more than once. Every time we left the room I had to go get new key. Kind of annoying. The room reeked of bug spray when we entered. But did not see any bugs other than one dead in hallway. While swimming in the pool, which was not very clean but I understand low staff issues...3 people came out to fire pit area with beers. No problem. Then they started smoking weed. Still not my issue. Then 2 people with security vests joined them and enjoyed weed with them. Were they the hotel security? No idea but they had the same shirts under vests. Not very professional in my opinion. The rooms were clean and staff was friendly and helpful.
The hotel was the worst hotel I ever had stayed at the worst staff ever rude and smug violating laws that pertain to the Americans with disabilities act insulting their guests and then kick them out so many things wrong with the rooms and staff please avoid this hotel like the plague
In reference to my recent stay at the best western plus in Clemson, SC. Ticket # cr519785 I have to say I am very upset with the service and treatment by the dayshift manager that my husband and I received. We will never stay at this particular hotel ever again. Let me start by explaining that on 07/18/22, we experienced an electrical emergency at our home and had to seek alternative shelter due to the heat. Now I know that doesn't excuse any words we had or said to the staff, but it was a very stressful situation. My husband and I both have medical issues and we each have a service dog. The particular policy for this hotel was no pets. We explained they were service animals. After much debate and a phone call to the general manager, we acquired a room for the night. Skip to the next morning, my husband went down to readdress the issue and get clarification from the staff. Granted I wasn't present at the time because we were instructed that the dogs couldn't left alone in the room. The morning manager was very rude towards my husband and my husband isn't one who quietly takes rudeness from others. He did call the manager a rude ass. But the attitude from the manager was that they only allow service animals is because they have to instead of showing a welcomeness to those in need of service animals. We were forced to vacant the hotel upon their demand even though we paid for 2 nights stay. 2nd night fee is supposed to be refunded, we'll see. I have to say as a person with medical issues and require the need of a service animal, i have never been more embarrassed or insulted in my life especially enduring an already stressful personal situation. I firmly feel the staff violated ada and Hippa policies by demanding to know our medical issues and why we needed the service animals also wanting us to show proof. We will be reaching out to the ada to see what steps we can take next to see that this never happens to another person with medical issues and disabilities.if I could give this hotel a “0” rating I would
We were checked in and walked into an already occupied room. Automatically checked out after day 1 of a 2 day stay. Getting that error and the billing fup has been a comedy in errors. The staff and management were all new and not that friendly. I only saw one staff member wear a mask. Even the room and hallway upkeep were poor-stained carpets, broken toilet seat fasteners, etc. There are better options in Clemson SC.
Bathrooms filthy! A/C clanking! Breakers tripped no electricity! Restaurant Closed! We stay here all the time. It has been going downhill for a while, but this time was by far the worst! Not sure anyone even cares! Too bad cause they are so close to Clemson University and had a good thing going!
We stayed at hotel for two nights while moving our son into his nearby apt. for his junior year at CU. On the plus side: - AC in room worked well - Bed and pillows were comfortable Negative aspects of stay: - Multiple front desk staff not wearing masks, not just behind counter, but also when walking around lobby on 7/31, 8/1, and 8/2 - No housekeeping services provided and no notice given at check-in - No To-Go bag provided in morning (they were all out at 0900) - Shower head too low - Hair dryer inop (broken switch) (turned in to front desk at checkout) - Front desk ignored trash on floor in lobby (morning of 8/1) rather than simply picking it up - Only decaf coffee pods provided in room - Electrical outlet on desk lamp inop Our hotel stay was $80 a night. For this amount, I think the rooms should have been in better shape and staff more attentive. We will be looking to stay elsewhere next time (we go up to Clemson 5-6 times/year).
covid stay in June 2020. thought i would check out a Best Western brand. photos looked good. checked in and was told i was being upgraded to a suite. the room was clean and comfortable. it was a decent stay and the staff was very nice.
Do not stay at the Best Western Plus University Inn & Conference Center in Clemson SC! I was a victim of attempted identity theft at this hotel, and I feel that the Front Office Manager, Charnette, may have been involved. I waited to post this review, hoping for a better ending. But, unfortunately, the issue was not resolved to my satisfaction. I have stayed at this hotel twice. The first time was uneventful. The second time, after not having heat in my room, ended with a call being made to my hotel room from someone claiming to be from hotel management. This man was very polite and professional, and was trying to get banking information from me to issue a credit for our troubles with the heat. Let me explain. I made several attempts to call the front desk about the heat. Since there was no answer, I went down to the lobby, to find the front desk manager smoking outside. I explained the problem with the heat. She got me blankets and offered to take a look at the unit in my room. After determining that the unit was broken, she said she'd put in a work order. Hotel Customer Service says that at that point I was offered another room. I don't recall the offer, but that's neither here nor there. It wasn't that cold and the extra blankets were fine. Shortly after she left, as she should, she put through a call from “upper management” to my room. I thought, WOW, what wonderful service! After trusting the person who represented himself as being from the hotel, I shared personal information (shame on me). I was able to rectify this with my bank, and in the end, no financial harm was done. I did file a police report. I reached out to Best Western Customer Care service asking compensation for not having heat, and the personal breach. More importantly, I wanted the hotel to know that either hotel management is in on an opportunity to scam people, or the room is bugged. Since there were no other guests around when I was talking with the manager, I am having trouble coming up with a different reason as to how this could have happened. Customer Care reached out to the Clemson hotel, but told me that there was nothing they could do. My concern lies not in reimbursement. Since it was off season the room was only $100. I am more concerned with the indifference from Customer Care headquarters and the local hotel. No one seemed to be concerned with how this happened. There are plenty of other hotels in the area in the same price range. There is no reason to stay at the Best Western and risk identity theft.
Room was not vacuumed so was a little creeped out by that. Hallway smelled weird. Everything else about hotel was great--location to Clemson campus, friendliness of staff, hospitality. Was inexpensive but I see why it was now
We picked this hotel for its price and location to the college. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The shower had good hot water. The restaurant was just ok as it looks to be in transition. The complementary breakfast in the morning was just OK.
I stayed gere at the lost moment to go to a fencing match at Clemson, the Tiger open. The first room we were given was a total wreck. We were given another room when I complained that our jaws dropped open when we walked in the room and couldn't believe our eyes. No rebate or discount was given for this screw up. A simple apology by the day staff was inadequate. Our 2nd room was okay, So I guess the main office wasn't told and anagement never contacted us with an apology !!
Love this College town and great location at Best Western Plus University Inn. It is so convenient and easy to get around town from this location. I will come here every visit to Clemson! Having the sports bar and restaurant here is a PLUS!
Enjoyed our stay as usual. The staff was professional and polite. Check in was very easy. We wanted to be close to family and friends, and the staff was able to accommodate the request. Breakfast was very good. Check out was easy.
This location is much better than what I would expect from what I typically expect from BW. It is very modern and well appointed. If you like freezing cold hallways, this is the place for you. The reception staff is very helpful, but even they had to wear winter coats.
We had a very nice experience with the front desk attendant. She was very helpful and extremely nice and knowledgeable about the area. I believe her name was Mary. The room was nice and I especially liked that we could go to the restaurant without leaving the hotel!
The hotel is good enough for a short business trip. Beds are comfortable and rooms are very clean. Pillows could be better and the same goes for the breakfast options. For a hotel that caters to a university crowd and is quite distant from the airport, there should be access to airport shuttles or services.
Our room was very nice. Everyone was very friendly. You need to remember during school, there is heavy traffic. So, give yourself time to get where you are going. We loved staying there! There was a minor problem with the water not going down very well in the bathroom sink. But we never reported it. It didn't really bother us.
Beds are amazing, rooms are clean, but ask for an outside perimeter room if you want to get any sleep. The rooms that face the atrium are LOUD. Everything echos in there. We weren't even there on a game weekend, and had trouble sleeping Friday and Saturday night. Sunday night was quiet because there were very few guests that night. The restaurant people are super nice, and the breakfast is pretty good! I would definitely stay here again, but in an room on the outside perimeter.
My husband and I stayed 3 nights for a Clemson and Texas A&M football game. The hotel was very convenient to the campus. Our outside room was quiet and very clean. The complementary hot breakfast was nice. I would recommend this hotel for overall value.
When we arrived it was in the middle of a severe weather warning and it was POURING rain! Roland at the front desk was AWESOME! The back hatch on my vehicle was stuck and he came out in the storm to assist me and got soaked! He went out of his way and he didn't have to do so! Very much appreciated! The negative things were that the HVAC made a loud "whine" when it turned off. There was also a lot of traffic in/out of the hotel coming from the bar at the Alumni Restaurant so the lobby and elevator areas were noisy
Trip to the lake for the Fourth of July. It was last minute but we found this hotel. Best western was super clean and the staff was great. The breakfast buffet was opened and was not good for what they charged. The restaurant and bar was closed for the holiday so I don't know about the quality of that. But overall, we had a great trip and a great stay
The hotel clearly started life as a hotel/convention center. It has cavernous rooms near the lobby that are devoid of furniture. The breakfast room is vast &, at one point during my stay, easily seated a large Rotary Club meeting w/o skimping on hotel customers' service. The rooms are pleasant, well laid out w/ conveniently electrical sockets & nice coffee maker on a roll out shelf. The plus here is the breakfast. Served from 6-11AM so no problems w/ oversleeping on that occasional day off. Highly recommended for its bacon--not the usual dreary, fresh from the microwave, hotel/motel breakfast kind--but thick, fried & overflowing the tray. Thanks, Best Western. I needed that.
Stayed 3 nights while my boys were at a camp near Clemson. I scored a great rate and was happy with the renovations. Only complaint I have is the breakfast. Food was lukewarm and not very flavorful. I would definitely stay here again, but probably would skip the breakfast.
This hotel is dated and not nice, but the location was right and we only needed one night so we took a chance on it. What a mistake! When we checked into our hotel and went to our room, we found that though the door appeared to close normally, it could be opened from the hallway without even using a key. We returned to the front desk and advised them of the problem, we expected to be moved but "maintentance" was already at the desk, said they knew what was wrong and would go fix it immediately. We advised them our things were in the room but they told us it was fine because they would repair the door. We went to dinner. When we returned the door was not repaired and just by turning the handle we could walk into the room. So our belongings were in that room for hours, unsecured. At this point we were moved. In our new room, the t.v didn't work. I called the front desk and was told to "crawl behind the furniture to flip a power strip breaker that had blown" This sound easy but we couldn't access the power cord and the furniture was too heavy. Nor does it really seem appropriate for the solution to be for us to crawl around furniture. In the morning we walked by the first room and could still open the door without using a key. I was offered 5000 Best Western points for my concerns, a ridiculous amount of compensation. Do not risk your safety and your belongings by staying in this hotel!
Staff couldn't be nicer but the hotel is a wreck. First room - lock on door wouldn't open even with two sets of keys. Second room - AC didn't work (temp on room went from 74-80), was assured they were working on it - never cooled. Woke up, used the bathroom - toilet won't flush, try to wash hands- no water. Moved to a third room (they did comp our first night and lowered our rate for the rest of our stay which we didn't ask for). Third room - housekeeping has come in three times - we were trying to nap and the AC works but barely. Like I said - Nice people, they are trying but very unsatisfactory.
My stay was amazing due to the front desk assistance. Marie was so kind and sweet when I was checking in. She made me priority even though the phone was ringing continuously. She did place the customer first. I will most definitely stay at this location again.
We booked a king size with a sleeper sofa on the Best Western website. When we arrived, we were given a king with no sleeper sofa. We were not the only guest that had this happen. The bathroom was too small. You could sit on the toilet and wash your hands in the sink and your feet in the tub at the same time. The bathroom floor was very dirty. The shower still had soap residue from the previous guests. Our bed linens were stained. The restaurant food is bad. Seemed like it went straight from the freezer to the microwave. The hotel itself was not very clean. The biggest concern was being approached by a man when we were unloading our car at the hotel entrance. He wanted to help take our luggage to our room. He asked for money to go get some KFC. He was going up to people in the parking lot asking for money. It didn't seem like the hotel had any kind of security. Bottom line, we've stayed at better hotels in the area. We come to Clemson regularly and will never stay at this hotel again.
This hotel is very nicely appointed, convenient and the staff were very helpful. I stayed just one night for my grandson's graduation, but would love to go back just to enjoy the town. My son stayed in my room and he was very comfortable.
First room we were given looked like if previous guest had asked for a late checkout and nobody went to re-clean the room, pillows out of place, trash on trash cans and magazines left behind. Second room had a sticky floor on bathroom and some hairs left. WE reported it next morning and did not see much of a difference. A tray of raspberries dissapeared from the refrigerator. Not a big deal but, annoyed because was our early snack. Great location and I believe we had bad luck, BW is normally ok, this experience was not. Breakfast is limited and lacks servers attention, you need to ask fro fruit or bacon which is not normally part of the buffet. WIFI works very well and is free.
The hotel looked and smelled old. There were potato chips on the floor when I walked in, so it obviously had not been vacuumed. The room smelled smokey. The walls had no sound insulation and it sounded like the people in rooms next to me, or in hallway were standing in my room because the conversations were so clear.
Happy with our overnight stay here. Note some of the rooms are interior and have no windows to the outside or natural light. It wasn't a problem for us but if you need a window be sure to ask for one when booking.
Very nice hotel for the price. Staff very friendly. Enjoyed the restaurant for lunch and the lounge for dinner. Food was great but service a little slow. Room was spacious. Would recommend this hotel and would stay again in the future.
Our group had a great time, the staff was super, hotel was great. Next to Clemson University where some of our session was held. Anything we needed the staff was on it. The service was outstanding and the staff was personal, you could walk up and talk with them. Everyone in our group had great things to say about the hotel and the location. We truly had an outstanding time this weekend.
After my last visit to Clemson I was determined to stay at this hotel! I enjoy how well kept the property is, the large rooms, and how comfortable this hotel is. The front desk workers are a pleasure and were extremely helpful! The bed was comfortable and the room has everything you would need! Best of all it was a short drive away from Clemson University!! Loved this hotel!
Rolland C is absolutely incredible. He is patient, understanding and so kind. We had a an issue and he totally handled everything in the most professional manner. Definitely management material and this hotel should do anything they need to in order to retain him. Great job Rolland and thank you for taking care of us.
Well renovated rooms up to the standards of a higher end hotel chain. Very clean, good wi-fi, and room amenities. However, I believe the hotel would be better served by offering a complimentary breakfast in the morning that even cheaper hotels with the same target market offer. The hotel has a very large atrium where a pool used to be which looks strange especially since many rooms have balconies open to it. It is sparsely decorated and it crying out for an interior designer or imagination (movie screen?). But I am not basing my review on that. Customer service at the lobby could be better; didn't seem to have a professional receptionist at the check-in counter (reminded me of a lower class hotel).
The beds were so comfortable!!! The rooms are clean and newly remodeled. The hotel was remodeled from having a pool/courtyard in the middle so there are awkward balconies that face what is now a large open atrium where events can be held. So you may want to request an exterior room if you like to have your window treatments open. The staff was wonderful with accommodating my daughters and I when multiple out of town college sports teams were staying there and "celebrating" in their rooms. If you want early sleep, consider staying during the summer but if you want to party, during the school year is fine! Thanks for the night staff who helped me and was so nice!!!!
Adequate hotel. Somewhat overpriced. Room was not cleaned until 5 pm daily. Understaffed. Breakfast was supposed to be included but was not. Convenient to town and attractions. First room had an air conditioning problem. Air conditioning broken in workout room
Our son is at Clemson so we gave this hotel a try last year as they just opened. It is an old Holiday in Holidome. "renovated' (fresh paint and carpet) and rebadged as a Best Western Plus. There were a few kinks to be worked out, (they opened before they were ready) but the staff tried hard and everything seemed new and clean. Just stayed again this weekend for move-in. Wow, what a difference a year makes. The staff is not particularly friendly and the rooms are not clean. Hair on sink, on floor and on carpet. Stains too. Not sure what happened. Great location and a year ago I thought the place had real promise. Maybe new management already or they lost their old housekeeping staff. Someone needs to take notice of the cleanliness of the rooms ASAP.
Pros: Great location, centrally located, clean room, friendly staff, well-lit parking lot, close to downtown and restaurants, newly renovated Cons: nothing mentioned about breakfast (I am a rewards member)
We stay here for 6 nights and had a nice room / suite on the outside not atrium area. The room and hotel has recently been remodeled and was clean and well maintained . Since our room was a suite like it has more open space , which was great when you are staying long term .The staff at the front desk , some were more helpful and friendly than others and when you stay a week you get to Meet and talk to a lot of them . Each day we were give a voucher for breakfast in the restaurant next store and connected to the hotel. Our understanding is they are owner by the same people , but run seperately and neither one know much about what the other does. So this best western was set up differently than others where breakfast in serve at hotel . We were told that the breakfast voucher process would be going away ... Some I am not sure what that mean ... You may want to double check with the hotel on the breakfast part prior to staying there , if that is a concern of you. Note with the breakfast voucher , there are a few items on the meal that you can not order, which was not that big of a deal. We found the restaurant staff very friendly and good. Overall we had a very nice and comfortable stay the week we were in Clemson . If in the area I would stay here again.
Giving 1 star because no option for zero stars. Stayed in hotel and my beats headphones disappeared. I had them one night and never took them out of room. When I went to find them they were missing. Filed report with front desk. Was told manager named Vesy would call me she never did. I left two messages and finally got her on phone. Was told they checked video camera and no one took them. Must have video camera in room?? Of course not so I don't know how that proves anything. Was then told they spoke to staff and everyone said they didn't take anything. The frustrating part though is not that it's the level of customer service from them. A better hotel chain would have solved this and offered some sort of compensation. Awful customer service! Will never stay here again.
We stayed here 4 days. I was ignorant of the layout and chose an 'Atrium' room, thinking it would overlook some plants or scenery. Instead, our room overlooked a large meeting-type room with terrible accoustics. Any conversation in that room was audible. But that's not all! Music in the lobby is loud and lousy (to me), and the room doors slam loudly when closed automatically. Even the white noise from the AC unit didn't help because the unit kept shutting itself down automatically. The beds were comfortable and the room clean. Breakfast was off a menu in the attached restaurant so that was nicer than a buffet. If you must stay here you could get one of the non-atrium rooms. Doesn't solve the door slamming but at least you won't hear the echo chamber!
NEVER AGAIN! Horrific stay. The hotel is built around a big indoor courtyard and rooms have mini balconies onto the courtyard. People were partying and in the courtyard until they closed it at 11 pm. Kids continued to run up and down the halls until 2 am even after the front desk was called multiple times. Finally a visit in person was made to the front desk and the noise still continued until all hours of the night. Hotel seemed to be severely understaffed. Dont stay at this hotel if you want to sleep!!!
Came into town for a 4th of July festival. Checking was quick, nice, clean, well appointed room. Good lighting in bathroom and room was spacious and the bed was comfy. Had breakfast there and service was good, food quality was average. OJ was weak and coffee lukewarm. Nice menu though and restaurant was bright and clean. Waitress was polite and attentive.
I had the same problem as a previous review. I had book through a third party, Hotel.com, and I simply book the wrong weekend. i did not expect much, but a face-to face with the manager (at least to act like he cared) and something, anything, to ease my pain.A little discount or a free breakfast to encourage me to return at some later date. I really don't think they cared. The room was nice and comfortable. The chair that was provided was strange. The back cushion was an oval pillow of some sort. Uncomfortable! I did find a couple of hairs on my bathroom counter that was not ours. The 24 hr coffee in the lobby was basically an instant coffee machine. Also, the keurig in the room had a used coffee pod in it.(could have been there just one night or several weeks). It obviously had not been clean in a while as the coffee was so bitter it was undrinkable . It is also kind of noisy. The people next door sounded as if they were in our room. As i write this I realize my stay there was not satisfactory at all. Actually, a first, of all my years of traveling.
When we arrived there were a few people on line ahead of us. No big deal, right? Wrong. All 3 people ahead of us were complaining that their reservations were not being honored. The employees at the desk were all saying "Sorry, nothing we can do. You booked through a third party vendor ". So finally we check in and go to our room to find one bed for three adults. Definitely not what I booked. When we went down stairs to get the room changed I was told the same third party vendor excuse and was told there were no cots or anything that could be brought into the room. The three of us stayed in one bed all night. At 3:00 in the morning I woke up. It was HOT in our room. The A/C had gone out. We called the front desk and was told the A/C guy would be in at 6am. At 7:30 still no A/C. When leaving for the day we inquired at the front desk. They said he doesn't come in til 9am. This is not the best situation for a hotel in South Carolina in the middle of June. When we returned, the A/C was fixed and working fine. Other things that annoyed me.... it is very noisy in this hotel. Not between rooms but the hallways have ridiculously thin walls. Lastly if you have an interior room, you look out over a "courtyard". It is indoor and kept very dark. I felt like it was always midnight. Not my choice of places to stay again.
The hotel was clean, the rooms were comfortable and had all the amenities, However, the rooms open up onto al large conference hall and out room had no windows so it felt a little confining. Walking to the room through a couple of doors felt a little like we were going into a maintenance section rather than our rooms. I should mention we were on the first floor so that may make a difference. The bathroom was clean and the shower heated up quickly. It is close to the University and a good choice for that. Our price was reasonable but the price jumped the next day due to NCAA baseball championships being in town. I should mention that I do not over rate so Very Good is a good rating for me. I would also mention that I rated this hotel as quiet but I'm not sure it would be the same if an event were scheduled for the large conference hall that the rooms open up on.
Great Service! We reserved a block of rooms just 4 days prior to arrival. All 13 rooms were ready upon our arrival. I mentioned our team name at check-in and within a minute we had all the keys handed out to our entire team. It was amazing service!
This hotel is a good location for Clemson. It was clean, staff was nice, rooms were clean. Only issue was the resturant. Breakfast came with the room but it was difficult to get service and food in the morning. One family came in 15 minutes before the end time, patiently waited, never saw a waitress and were then told no breakfast. We had waited 15 minutes for a waitress also, and it wasn't very crowded with 3 wait staff. It was weird.
Hotel was only 1-2 miles to Clemson. The price paid for the hotel was excellent. Great bargain. The hotel was either updated recently or is kept in pristine condition. The restaurant was convenient but not great. Breakfast was very good. Supper was ok. Kind of what you would expect for a hotel restaurant (not a continental breakfast but a full restaurant).
rooms were clean and a good size. big, remodeled bathroom. comfy queen beds and good pillows. free breakfast off a menu! very good. close to Clemson. friendly staff. would definitely stay there again, if he gets in!
The hotel and staff were wonderful and we'd recommend this for a nice weekend visit. The location is great and recent renovations have made the surroundings bright and cheery. We didn't try the restaurant but hear the food is good
As always, great hotel at great price and location. We stay here everytime we visit our daughter. We have stayed in every hotel in the area and this one is the best for the money. Clean, convenient and great staff
The quality of service is good. The remodel is very nice. You can tell the rooms are fresh and new. All the bedding from the bed, the sheets and pillows are very comfortable and new. Location is great if your doing anything related to the University.
The hotel was clean and comfortable! The staff was very welcoming and helpful. I wish they had microwaves in the room it was a pain in the neck to go down 3 stories to the lobby to heat up food. They have a restaurant in the food was ok as far as flavor but for the price it could have been better. There is a KFC/LONG JOHN SILVERS across the street and a CVS right next door. It Is 6 minutes
Was there on business for the 2nd time within a few weeks apart. Staff was very helpful and the rooms were clean. It's great to have someone come in and make this a great hotel. Location is great and in comparison to other hotels in the area the price is great also. Management was great. We will be staying here on our next visit to the area.
This was one of the finest hotels we have stayed in ever. Clean, attractive, convenient, and friendly staff. Very reasonably priced when booked thru hotels.com. Free breakfast with Best Western card. Everything you would expect from a better hotel...
The Clemson area is a difficult place to get a good price on a room during the college football season, We were lucky to have an outstanding hotel provide a wonderful stay with great customer service with affordable rates! The hotel has just undergone a complete remodel and looks wonderful!
Our first time staying at the hotel under Best Western management. It has been 10 years since last time. The changes were all for the better and made our time there a very pleasant time. There is no doubt that we will stay at this hotel again.
Visiting my son that attends Clemson university and attending football game. Good location , easy to get to campus and downtown clemson,. Good parking and area felt safe. Hotel was very clean. , recently remodeled. Beds are very comfortable. Most of the staff was very friendly and professional.
This was a really nice hotel. The décor was new and up dated. We did have a few things that were broken in the room, like the bathroom doorknob & the curtain pull, which was irritating since the rooms were all new.
I loved this hotel! Very clean with awesome décor. I like the attached restaurant and bar. The room layout is very nice. I wish I could have spent more time in the hotel on this trip; it usually the opposite.
Rooms were $399 and hotels across the street were $245. I know we were limited on available rooms and it was a big game, but you could have been more competitive on $. Next time I will do a better job shopping around.
this is not the place for the elderly or someone with there family. The cost to the tune of $150.00 per night and breakfast at almost $11.00 per person is just to much. You can go across the street and stay for less and get your breakfast for free
We spent 4 nights here in October. We came to attend the Clemson game. Overall the stay was nice. The rooms face and enclosed courtyard which is kind of weird because people across the way can see you if you don't have the curtains closed. They offer free coffee and water in the lobby and have a small snack shop/store where you can buy last minute stuff. Their was one night when we needed to speak to the front desk and the older woman working seemed overwhelmed or just didn't care. Overall out stay was good and we would return.
I stayed at this Best Western for one night while there on business, and I was very pleased with my stay. The interior of the hotel is very chic and clean. They were super accommodating to my company and made breakfast a smooth and quick experience for us in the morning before we had to get on the road. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The internet worked well, including streaming Netflix. There's a bar/lounge attached to the hotel, which makes dining convenient.
Booked here because of great prices during football weekend. You get what you pay for. Recent Reno consists of spraying texture over existing wallpaper, doors don't fit jambs...you can see out into the hall through the space between the door frame and the door of our room, no fire sprinklers in the rooms..thought that was a code requirement, fire doors don't appear to be to code either. The courtyard has been roofed over so the interior rooms now look into a ballroom, they have no natural light. Weird. Next time we will stay out of town.
My wife and I stayed here for two nights for the Total Solar Eclipse on August 21, 2017. A complete renovation had just been completed, except for a new outdoor swimming pool which was under construction. The Atrium had been completely changed from an indoor swimming pool into a large area with a stage which could be used for conventions or large meetings. The multistory rooms surrounded the atrium. Each inside room overlooked the atrium and had a small balcony and sliding glass door, which was very nice. The entire renovation was beautiful. The Alumni Restaurant is part of the building, and was very nice. It served all three meals, but we had only breakfast and lunch there. The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. The prices were moderate. When we visit Clemson again, we will definitely stay at the Best Western Plus University Inn and Conference Center. GO TIGERS!
It was a nice hotel convientley located in downtown Clemson near shopping restaurants. However I was using points for my stay and made it clear at check in not to use the card on file, the girl said fine and would be no problem. Later that night I look at my account and they had taken money out with nor warning or authorization! The room was very nice and well decorated, bed was not very comfortable though.
Stayed for a home game. It was convenient but not worth $280 for a ripped up parking lot in one side which happened to be where it would have been closer to our entrance making it a much longer walk. The pool is still under construction along with the main hall which I imagine they are turning it into an atrium eventually. Ask for an outside view if not half the rooms have no natural light making if feel your on interior room cruise. The hotel is clean but so are some better motels. I think I will stay further away and pay to park (which we did anyway over a mile to stadium). I heard some payed more than we did. Until this hotel gets their renovations done it is not worth the money especially for home games and even then it will be questionable. The alumni bar that is on its grounds has been dead every time we've been there. No atmosphere and no customers your going to want to hang somewhere else so what's the point for paying for this "connivence"?
This hotel had excellent service and the staff were very nice. They had some problems with the internet but everything else was nice. If you like ice in your drinks, request a room on the first, second, and third floor (the 4th floor does not have ice yet).
This hotel exceeded my expectations, considering its location. It was perfectly clean, the staff was professional and friendly, and the beds were very, VERY comfortable (nice linens). Will definitely stay here again.
We were pleasantly surprised at what a wonderful stay we had at the Best Western in Clemson, SC for Parents Weekend. The location of the the hotel was ideal and easily walkable to all things on campus. I highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Clemson, SC.
This hotel was recently renovated and it shows. The building feels a bit like a large dormitory, however our room was clean and nicely furnished. We booked several months in advance at a pre-paid, non-refundable rate, and it was the best deal in town. We walked to the game. It was about a 30 minute walk, but that is a BIG deal with game day traffic and parking being the hassle that they are. Hotel does not offer a free breakfast, but there are lots of options in town. We enjoyed Pot Belly Deli and Waffle House this visit.
We really didn't know what to expect this past weekend when we arrived at this newly renovated hotel for Clemson's Parents Weekend on Friday morning. We had an early flight and called from the airport about early check-in. The phone was answered right away by Desmond who said no problem. We arrived about an hour later and our room was ready. Check-in was quick and efficient by Desmond who could not have been nicer all weekend. Everything in the hotel is brand new. The rooms are situated around the conference center. It seems that odd numbered rooms open up into the conference center so no outside view or lighting from the window. (We would make sure we had an outside room next time and the is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars.) The woman who runs Housekeeping was on the ball! She was kind and efficient to both her staff and the guests. Our room was cleaned and filled with towels by the time we got back from breakfast. We ate at the Alumni Grill at the hotel. Buffet breakfast for $9.95 ends at 10AM. We ordered off the menu since we were late...good pancakes, bacon and omelettes. Darmella was an awesome server on a few occasions and so sweet! Club sandwich makes a nice lunch. We would probably skip the crab cakes next time. The staff here could not be nicer or more helpful. You can walk to Clemson but we drove the less than 2 miles. We appreciate that we were not gouged on the price this weekend as so many were at other hotels ($700/night for a typical $198 night stay). Our daughter is a freshman. We will be staying at this hotel often over the next 4 years!
I have been a regular guest at this hotel for a while now but it is my first stay since the name change to Best Western Plus. The rooms were great and the housekeeping staff were equally as well. The hotel manager at the time of my checkout was not however. I was double-charged for my 2 night stay and the hotel manager refused to adjust the bill and told me I would have to take it up with Discover Card. I have never received such an unprofessional response from any business in my life! I have taken up the issue with Discover Card and they are handling it but you can best believe I will not be staying at the Best Western Plus in Clemson, South Carolina again. Furthermore, I will advise my employer not to recommend this hotel for our out of town guests as we have frequently done in the past.
I had never been to Clemson. Planned a trip for a bunch of guys for Clemson football game. We had three rooms. We were all really happy with this hotel. The check in was efficient. The whole staff we encountered were very friendly. The rooms were large and nice. This place has just been renovated in early 2017 and it is like a brand new hotel. I travel a lot. I did not expect much from a "Best Western"... but I was pleasantly surprised and the place was super. I will now look at Best Western Plus with a different view. Oh, also, I think this is the closest hotel to Clemson stadium. So we walked. It is close to 2 miles.
Great renovation and much nicer than expected at the time or booking Brand new interior and guest rooms, great club sandwich at the bar, I will return to this same hotel for my future trips to Clemson
Nice clean hotel much bigger than I imagined. Undergoing exterior renovations so parking is an adventure. Staff was young and had difficulty processing credit card. When selecting room ask for an exterior one as interior face Central meeting area, can be noisy
This hotel has undergone a massive transformation. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms very clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable! If you need a place to stay in Clemson, I highly recommend Best Western!
Perfect place to stay after Clemson games! Easy drive from the stadium even with traffic! Bathrooms are small but overall the hotel is very clean. Once the construction in the back parking lot is completed and the back doors are accessible, the hotel will be perfect!
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The fact that this hotel lifted the animal restrictions for the hurricane says it all. We needed up canceling our stay but will use this facility for all future trips to Clemson. It has been recently remodeled and I have heard great things about the comfort.
This was my 3rd stay, and there are many reasons why I keep coming back! I first stayed here when we evacuated from the hurricane that was supposed to hit Charleston. It was under renovation, but was still clean and comfy! The staff is very friendly!!!
Months in advance, we booked 3 rooms for day prior to total solar eclipse, 2 with connecting door because we travel with our children. Rate was $129. Confirmed the connecting rooms by phone in AM of arrival day. On arrival, witnessed rooms being sold for $999! Our connecting rooms were gone and they wanted us to consolidate into 1 room, presumably so they could gouge others at $999 rate. We went to their restaurant, 1/3 full, placed drink order, then food order. After 35 minutes I had to go to bar to get drinks. After 50 minutes we enquired about food. After 90 minutes we spotted desk clerk in restaurant and complained about 90 minutes & no food. She only wanted to talk about us canceling 2 of our 3 rooms. Shortly after, we left to go to KFC because kids were super hungry and still no food. Found Clemson police arriving at hotel: desk had called police to evict us altogether for "accosting" her. Police officer declined, advising that it is not a crime to complain about no food for hungry family after 90 minutes. He apologized to us on behalf of Clemson SC. Encountered others leaving restaurant and some returning from KFC with takeout. Further notes: 1. they advertised a pool but there is none, 2. half the rooms look onto an interior space not towards the outside so one hears interior noise and there is no outside ventilation. Of course, these were the rooms we were assigned despite reservations 3 months in advance. During 24 hours in Clemson, everyone (especially the police officer) we met was wonderful, friendly, helpful and welcoming. The total eclipse was spectacular, including Economic Development tent at airport (we flew into Clemson in small plane); we thoroughly enjoyed our stay other than the Best Western University Hotel which is the single most heinous business enterprise we have ever encountered.
Pleasantly surprised with hotel especially with previous BW experiences. Spacious room and bathroom. Clean, fresh, delightful. Convenient to campus and downtown and highways. Easy parking. Lots of restaurants close by
I think this is the first time I've ever stayed at a best western, I was pleasantly surprised. Close to campus, friendly staff, safe, quiet, comfortable beds, and a restaurant was on site. However, the hotel is appearantly currently under construction. The first thing we noticed was a smell, like mildew. Not great, but given that hotels in the area are currently going for 700-1000 due to the eclipse, and booked up months in advance, I could tolerate it. The layout is a bit odd with a large atrium that was surrounded by rooms, and hallways that didn't seem to connect well, almost looks like the building was once something else. I enjoy working out, but did not use the exercise room, it was very secluded from the rest of the building and was in the hottest part of the building. Much to the disappointment of my children there was no pool, although one is currently being built outside. Would I stay here again? Possibly. I'd just make sure construction was complete if I did so.
Recent renovation of this hotel is very good. The Staff is gracious and professional. The rooms are clean, bright, and comfortable. If you require a handicapped accessible room, be specific about your needs. Ask for one close to the lobby and restaurant as the new commercial carpeting can be difficult to push a wheelchair.
Advertised as newly remodeled... I would wait for them to get it all done and act together if I were you. This hotel is not fully finished and we experienced more than a few issues. Will not bore you with all the details. Hotel rooms are clean and new common areas are nice, but that is the highlight.
Nice Hotel, nice rooms but small bathrooms and closet space, parking lot was being redone perhaps will be fine when finished, staff was very accommodating rooms have all new furniture beds were very comfortable air worked very well
While still under construction the room was spacious and extremely comfortable. Location was great for a college visit. Would definitely stay here again. Want to see when it is complete. Dining was unique and reasonable priced as well as delicious.
The hotel was recently remodeled and the rooms, bedding and staff are amazing. Hotel is located within walking distance (1mile) from Clemson University. Great for football weekends. The staff was helpful, kind and courteous. Some rates include breakfast so be sure to ask for your voucher at check in. Breakfast is simple and not great. You may prefer to order off the menu and pay for breakfast. Pool will open in the Fall '17. I recommend this hotel. Enjoy!
This hotel is doing renovations, but did not hinder our stay. The people working made sure they got out of the way for us to get to our rooms. The place looks wonderful. Great Clemson theme going on here. Very clean room. Missed a pool, but it is on the drawing board.
Excellent service from everyone at the hotel. Friendly and helpful. Restaurant closes a little early but just need to plan ahead. Easy to get to Clemson University. An easy walk on game day! Will stay here again.
We love the James F Martin Inn! Ami Moore, who works at the front desk, always greets us with a big, warm southern smile! She treats us like family, which makes us want to go back again and again! Beautiful property! Very clean and nice!
The Inn appeared to be undergoing renovation and perhaps had opened a bit prematurely. There is no pool--it's in the process of being moved from an indoor pool to an outside pool. While our room appeared clean, the AC unit was falling out of the wall, there was no lock on the bathroom door, and no TV guide or hotel info of any kind in the room. The complementary breakfast was fine as long as you liked bread and bread products. The only non-wheat food I saw were bananas (Yay) and Red Delicious apples (Who eats those?). They had coffee but not tea which was strange.
Many of the rooms are connected to the atrium which lends itself to a very noisy experience. During our stay a very intoxicated alumni group occupied the atrium until after 1 am. With our 1st floor room we heard every word and were unable to sleep until after the party ceased. Not ideal especially when traveling with tired children. Noise may be better or higher floors but I do not know.
The location had obviously undergone a major renovation. All of the flooring was clean. Rooms were nicely appointed. Full DirecTV in my room, with a view of the courtyard beneath. Extremely friendly and gracious staff, who were willing to help.
