"Not as advertised. Nothing superior about it."
Mattfromsheff, 30 Septembre 2024

The superior suite is not as advertised. They are advertising the devereux suite as the superior suite and cheated me out of my weekend and money. Staff were reluctant to help at best throughout. Large amounts of condensation drip down the windows in the morning and the room smelt. Again, I feel cheated out of my money and time.

"20.09.2024"
sheila g, 20 Septembre 2024

I went to Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel a few years ago for the first time.. It is my late grandmother's ancestral home through her grandparents- George the 4th Earl of Bradford and his wife Ida the Countess of Bradford. I was treated very kindly by the staff and was given a tour of the Hall. My grandmother visited but never stayed in the Hall to my knowledge.. I went back a few years later and the atmosphere had changed and so had the staff.. It was no longer only English staff . Romanian staff had supplanted the .English staff at the higher levels. I was shocked. I also discovered the Hall had been sold to Hong Kong Chinese who kept a low profile and lived in Coventry and Worcester. I left the Hall disgusted at what had befallen Castle Bromwich Hall. Yesterday 19.09.2024 I phoned up the Hall and asked if I could stay in the hall for between 6 months to a year (whilst I conducted some business with clients in America). . A thick Romanian accent said no. I said I am in a wheelchair and the answer back was no, never. Discrimination by people we never invited into our once beautiful country.

"Beautiful gardens and excellent rooms."
Susan N, 15 Septembre 2024

Pristine room: sheets and towels were whiter than white. Lovely, clean environment. Good range of food for breakfast, including doggie treats for Poppy. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Even the gardener was friendly towards my dog. Great place to visit as the gardens are extensive and make it easy to exercise your dog.

"Awful "
Simon B, 08 Septembre 2024

Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel.  Myself and my colleagues stay here regularly and until now have had no complaints at all. Until tonight 21st August 24, at 10 pm whilst a n Asian wedding of many taking place took a turn for the worst. I was lying in bed when I heard several people shouting outside my room, I ignored it. That was until they started kicking my door in along with a gentleman next door. I ran to the door in a t shirt and boxers to confront what had happened only to find they had fled and I was locked out. First of all thanks to the Man next door who went to reception and got me another key. Suffice to say I wont be staying here again. Not a single explanation or apology from anyone at the Hotel and no duty manager avaliable to give me an explanation even after leaving my number ??

"Peaceful history"
Sara D, 01 Septembre 2024

Truly 17th splendor with modern comforts as advertised. So relaxing and peaceful. The perfect end to our 2 week stay. We were able to find it quite easy using public transportation and not too far from the airport. We stayed in a family room and it was comfortable with a wonderful view of the grounds.

"If you're disabled do not go"
Keith E, 31 Août 2024

If you are disabled or have a service dog because of your disability AVOID this hotel at all costs There are no lifts and if you are disabled you will NOT be offered any help to carry your belongings to your room even when on the top floor AVOID FIND a different hotel

"Our Last Night in England"
John F, 31 Août 2024

A beautiful and exceptionally presented hotel with great breakfast and fabulous and comfortable bed. Staff were of the highest standard providing assistance to us at all times. This included assistance with the lifts for my wife. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for somewhere special.

"Charming Hotel"
zainab i, 23 Août 2024

The hotel is very historical and charming. If you're looking for a traditional castle with a beautiful garden, this is it. Double rooms are on the smaller side, whilst family rooms are huge with 2 separate rooms. Basic amenities are available except slippers. Comfortable beds, sleep was great! Breakfast was fantastic, promptly delivered to the room and the staff at the buffet area were very friendly and attentive. All needs were attended to promptly, even if amenities needed refreshing. Late checkout was given, fantastic as we had a late flight. No concierge available. We were attending a wedding at the hotel, overall, our stay was great.

"A Birthday Treat"
Ivor C, 20 Août 2024

The Hall was on my doorstep and I had always wondered what it was like inside. My birthday was the perfect opportunity to find out. The Decor and artwork are outstanding. (Members of the Royalty have been here in the past). The staff were only too willing to help with any questions you may have. A large dining room, lounge and bar are at your disposal. Lovely food. Large wedding parties are catered for, with a large marquee in the side garden (DJ available). Large and small rooms were available. (There is a lift to one upper floor area, but not to all rooms, please let them know if you have mobility issues before you book). There were steps into the dining areas, but I did not check to see if they had ramps available. The garden areas were gravel paved, so wheelchairs may have problems there too. This would be a suitable study for an Art Group, There is a church next door. (Access may need to be granted before arrival). The Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens are a separate entity, check for opening times and prices.

"The lost marquee"
Ifra T, 17 Août 2024

Held our wedding at the lost marquee. Aftab was our events coordinator. The whole wedding planning process was so easy due to how accommodating Aftab was. Aftab understood our vision for our event and definitely exceeded our expectations. From the decor to the vendors everything was perfect and they definitely delivered our dream wedding. We would highly recommend holding any wedding events at this venue and specifically ask for a consultation with Aftab whose constant communication allowed the bride and groom to be stress free. A huge thank you to Aftab and the whole team for giving us an unforgettable day.

"Excellent stay really enjoyed the lovely old hotel"
Georgie M, 10 Août 2024

Lovely quaint hotel staff very pleasant Rooms very clean beds very very comfortable garden were nice roses smell was gorgeous Enjoy our few days despite been there for a family funeral We would love to come back again to explore the local area

"Great one night stay"
Louis F, 04 Août 2024

Stayed a night for business and booked a single room and was surprised to find a double bed which was great. The room was really clean and bathroom was nice (clean too). Kettle was clean. Bed was comfy- I had a good and quiet nights sleep. Was a bit difficult to find my room as it was tucked away, so maybe a little more signage would help. Will be back if I'm ever in the area again as I wish I had more time to explore the place. A little ‘haunted mansion' looking too but I enjoyed that!

"Castle Bromwich Hall created a perfect wedding experience for us! (Marius and Sophie are incredible!)"
Duane P, 29 Juillet 2024

In September 2023, my wife and I got married here, planning over eighteen months. Starting with the planning element, I have to say everything was perfect. With regard to the planning, it was Sophie and Marius who we communicated with. You can imagine the amount of back and forth, questions and visits that took place in the wedding build-up. I have to say they were both amazing in this respect! I found them to be honest, realistic and supportive of all our choices. On the actual day, Marius was an absolute legend! He clearly had managed events like this many times, because he naturally was able to navigate our way through the day. He was always on hand and present supporting the guests to where they needed to be. This was especially important because we were using multiple parts of their hotel during the day. The hotel itself. Simply beautiful. There are many rooms and areas that made our photographer's day very easy in deciding on different shots! When our friends and family attended, the beauty of the venue itself was one of the first things they all commented on. I just cannot put in to words how photogenic the hotel is and honestly, looking back on the photos always blows me away! The food. simply perfect. Not a single person out of the 120+ guests had to send back food. Again, Marius and his incredible team were able to ensure everyone's food was delivered together and cooked to a high quality. It was great that when we sampled the menu a year before, the wedding breakfast still had the same high quality! We stopped in the bridal suite and it was again, just as beautiful as the hotel. It was clean, spacious and was the perfect end to an unforgettable experience! It has been almost a year since we married there and I hope it serves as a strong recommendation to use them for all the events you consider. It is easy after such a life-changing experience to be caught up in a magical moment to write about how great it was. To be coming up to our wedding anniversary I still cannot state highly enough how brilliant the staff, venue and planning element was. I genuinely cannot wait to return and reminisce of one of the most important days of my life, what upon reflection, only Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel (with Marius and Sophie!) could deliver.

"Lovely place"
Gaynor P, 20 Juillet 2024

Had a lovely meal and a drink when we visited. Drinks are quite pricey but worth it in my opinion as it's a lovely place to be especially if the weather is good and you can sit outside. Will be visiting again in a few weeks for afternoon tea and very much looking forward to it

"Friendly staff; hike to get to the room"
Susan N, 16 Juillet 2024

The room was clean and well-stocked. Despite making my reservation three months prior, I was placed in the “Dovecote.” This meant I had to walk quite a bit to an unattached building to get to my room. With flight delays, I had not slept in a bed for over 24 hours so I was not excited at that prospect. Every staff member I interacted with was wonderful.

"Great Stay"
666sales, 10 Juillet 2024

Hotel was lovely and picturesque. Are in the restaurant and the food tasted amazing and would stay again

"Simple, honest and straightforward. Gives what it offers."
Habib L, 07 Juillet 2024

LOCATION: I decided to visit this lovely hotel for a one-day self-care escapade and i could not be happier about my choice. From the lovely gardens and the relaxing scents of nature that they provide, to the historic and picturesque buildings and walkways, the hotel invites you to feel like you have traveled back in time, a quiet location to forget your day-by-day ROOM: Considering how cheap the rooms at this hotel are, i was surprised just how well fitted and comfortable these are, you got your kettles and free teas/coffees, a lovely bathroom with a rainshower type shower, more blankets and towels than you can use and a lovely bed that is soft yet rigid enough for your back, and LOTS of pillows, i almost felt tempted to return to childhood and make a pillow fort with the dozen or so i was provided with. It also has what appeared to be a 32 inch tv that actually worked! STAFF: Before i arrived i was a bit worried due to some of the negative reviews on this site but seconds after my first interaction i realized just how lovely and attentive everyone is. Then, i saw first hand how some people talk to the members of the staff and it became abundantly clear what kind of person writes said negative reviews. Treat the staff like the respectable human beings they are, and they will move the world to make sure your stay is as good as can be. This hotel invites you to feel like a 17th century noble walking down it´s halls, yes, but let us leave the way they treated staff and service in that century, shall we? DINNER SERVICE: Sadly, this is the one thing that costed this review a point. And it was not the quality of the food, which was lovely, but several mistakes. I ordered the Ribeye steak medium-rare and i received it well done, of course, the ever attentive and gentle staff member offered to exchange it, but i wanted to tuck in to bed early that night so i just decided to keep it as is. But the mistakes did not end with the steak, as my dessert was also missing the caramel icecream included with it. Further to that, as i dined, i heard almost every single table around me complain about missing items or their meals being not as described, apparently due to a shortage of Mushrooms and other condiments. Note that none of this was the server´s fault, for what i gathered the Kitchen were not communicating as effectively as possible with the front staff. BREAKFAST: On contrast, the breakfast service was lovely, the full English breakfast was tasty, well cooked, and while the initial portion is not exaggeratedly abundant, you can request as much as you want from the lovely staff. They have coffee and tea ready for you to enjoy the second you enter the dining area and all sorts of juices, milk and beverages ready to pour. Further to that, they had a simple but extremely tasty buffet all you can eat selection of fruit salads, patisserie items, croissants and your average continental delectables. I want to specify however, that this is a 12gbp breakfast option, it is not a 145gbp choice at a 5 star Hotel, so you will not find bacon from the backside of an unicorn and mushrooms from Narnia caramelized in siren tears, it is a simple breakfast, done well, and you can have as much of it as you want. CONCLUSION: I came here for a little relax escapade and i came back home refreshed, well slept, well fed and having enjoyed a whole day in a lovely, historical location, surrounded of well kept nature, flowers and sunshine-kissed dew, i cannot wait to come back. Definitely worth the extremely low prices you can obtain by just planning a bit ahead.

"Gorgeous hotel - beautiful surroundings"
suehum3, 13 Juin 2024

This hotel is well worth a visit. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The rooms are charming and well equipped. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and enjoyed a delicious meal. We would definitely stay here again, especially when the gorgeous roses are in bloom.

"Beautiful hotel, amazing staff"
MrsTomfoolery, 09 Juin 2024

We had a lovely overnight stay at this hotel. The room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice and the service provided was excellent. I'd happily stay here again and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Don't bother eating here!"
Elaine M, 09 Juin 2024

Beautiful 16th Century hall but food dreadful! Visited over this weekend as part of a 50th anniversary get-away. A beautiful building, but even looking around on check-in it appeared a little “tired”. The room was on 3rd floor ( no lift) but was nice, very clean and comfortable. There was a nice dining room so we had booked to dine for our first night. What a mistake! Firstly, we were surprised that such a lovely venue was completely empty, apart from us, at 7pm on a Friday evening! We soon discovered why. The food was very disappointing. I had the ‘chicken supreme'. While the chicken and cream sauce was ok the purée potato was basically covered in breadcrumbs and fried - and the asparagus was boiled to death and slimy. My husband had the tagliatelle with duck ragu which he couldn't eat because the tagliatelle was cut into three inch pieces and ragu was dry and tasteless! The following morning, the breakfast coffee was cool. I had pastries but my husband had the English breakfast. The scrambled eggs were a solid lump and were actually green!!! We called the waitress over and showed her. She immediately removed the plate and also removed the whole tray of scrambled egg. We got the impression that she was not surprised!

"Perfect hotel and truly accessible"
shellie1234, 05 Juin 2024

Second time here and hope to return next year. Accessible room was really spacious for a wheelchair with a proper wet room, nice selection of complimentary items. Extremely clean and well kept. Rooms were cleaned daily, fresh towels etc. The bed was extremely comfortable and plenty of storage in the room which was well equipped. The room was decorated in keeping with the hotel but was freshly painted and heating worked well. It is such a beautiful hotel, the grounds are stunning and not surprising it's such a popular venue for weddings. There were two weddings during the weekend we stayed but this did not impact on the exceptional service we received. Breakfast is always perfect, wonderful selection and Peter is literally the friendliest most helpful person ever and will do anything for you….made us special fresh fruit salad minus the pineapple every morning without being asked which was such a lovely gesture 😊 Sophie is also very friendly and helpful, as are the others staff. There is plenty of free parking at the hotel Can't find fault with anything about this hotel and it's so lovely to stay somewhere quiet, beautiful and with such friendly staff away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

"Afternoon tea honest review"
Tammy P, 02 Juin 2024

We had a Wowcher for afternoon tea- The coffee was lovely, the service was pleasant But, you get three tiny finger sandwiches each with very basic fillings Ham, cheese and pickle and tuna mayo The scone with cream and jam were nice However, the rest of the mini cakes were not very nice! They tried to make them fancy and to look at the were but, they did not taste nice! Personally traditional mini slices of a Victoria sponge, brownies or lemon cake would have been much better! Expect a very basic afternoon and you won't be disappointed! The price on Wowcher was fair! £20 a head though at full price - I certainly would not pay for what you got! The grounds are lovely though and reading about the history!

"Anniversary"
Peter W, 30 Mai 2024

Castle Bromwich Hall hotel is a beautiful period house set in beautiful gardens and surrounding countryside. I stay was to initially attend a family funeral wake being held there. It was our 46th wedding anniversary the day before so booked a room and evening meal (restaurant was very nice and reasonably priced) Two weddings took place during our stay and two more in preparation the day we left, which we enjoyed being in the atmosphere created. The staff worked tirelessly readying the rooms for our sad occasion but also for all the others too, they were so professional and made it look easy.

"Horrendous Hotel Stay, makes Fawlty Towers look like five star accommodation"
Adele D, 26 Mai 2024

First impressions was WOW, what a beautiful hotel, however do not be fooled by the outside look, we checked in and our room was in the Brewhouse, a short walk from the main hotel. The room was dark and old fashioned and had the previous occupants rubbish strewn on the floor under the bed. The shower had hair stuck on the tiles. We went for dinner in the bar, there were three members of staff behind the bar and asked for a guiness, the young girl behind the bar told us that the beer wasn't Guiness, it was a different beer, asking what it was she shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't know and it was above her pay grade to know what beers they were serving. We had dinner and I had a ham and cheese melt, the toast tasted burnt and the kitchen had cleverly hidden it inside the sandwich, when we explained to the waitress, she shrugged her shoulders and took it away with no apology, When we went to bed, the noise from above was horrendous, I heard the poor gentleman's phone conversation, I heard him rolling over in bed, going to the toilet, the worst nights sleep ever. Overall, this hotel needs a complete turnover of staff and refurb of rooms, it could be lovely but avoid at all costs.

"A beautiful Hotel packed with history, so much more than your average hotel."
andrewjs1976, 23 Mai 2024

The approach to Castle Bromwich Hotel is gorgeous, my wife and daughter fell in love with the place straight away and were eager to explore and read about it's history. Every member of staff I met was extremely polite and dressed smartly and nothing seemed too much trouble, we were out for the evening so didn't have an evening meal here but going by the menus there seemed plenty to choose from and at very reasonable prices. We got back to the hotel around midnight and there were still plenty of staff around to tend to our needs but we went straight to our room (318) to relax and go to bed, even though it is on the flight path for Birmingham airport as soon as my head touched that VERY comfortable pillow I was out like a light! I don't think I've ever slept in a comfier bed, I'm usually a light sleeper but not that night. After waking fully refreshed we headed down to breakfast, we had a choice of tables which were all very neatly laid out and as soon as we were seated we were given a good choice of beverages. As soon as my daughter realised this was a buffet style breakfast there was no stopping her, the hot food both smelled and tasted fantastic but there was also so much more to choose from, everything from yogurts and fresh fruit to pastries and cereals and also some gluten free options which I was especially pleased with. After a walk around the gardens to work off our breakfast we popped back to our room and enjoyed a lovely complimentary cuppa whilst packing our bags. This really is a beautiful place to stay and we will hopefully be back again very soon.

"Very poor experience, rude staff broken window so room was freezing cold"
Michelle H, 22 Avril 2024

The manager and reception staff were very rude. We stayed at the hotel for my sisters wedding so had several rooms between us. We spent a lot of money. The staff on reception were rude. They either scowled at you or completely ignored you. No good evening or good morning. The manager was the worst , the guys attitude completely changed when he knew our actual wedding wasn't being held at the hotel. We spent a hell of a lot of money there between us. The room was tiny, and the window was broken and didn't close properly. My husband has come away full of a cold. This meant it was cold and noisy. We stayed in the Western room. One of our parties checked into their room, it had no windows, just a small sky light. It smelt of wet paint when they complained the manager said here is a plug-in air freshener. They reception staff were rude and unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome. My room was tiny, and the shower was only a over head one with no hose part, so if you didn't want to wash your hair, you wouldn't be able to shower without getting your hair wet. There is no shower cap either. We would never stay again. The manager I'd the rudest man I have ever met. When my sister spoke to him, he completely blanked her and only wanted to talk to her husband. He treated the woman like they were not worth speaking to . Whenever we passed reception, there were no smiles, good morning or good night . Was woken on the Monday morning by noisy workmen doing work outside a few metres away from pur room. Window was broken and didn't close so made the noise worse. My husband came away with a cold feeling awful. Considering this is the hospitality buissness, it was very poor.

"Worst venue, and poor management and customer care"
Scott P, 17 Mars 2024

I regret to say that our experience at Castle Bromwich Hotel was far from satisfactory. Despite booking a family room, we found it inaccessible for a twin buggy pushchair, as the hotel only had a wheelchair lift to the first floor. We were then expected to navigate through multiple corridors and stairs just to access our room, which was not feasible with two ten-week-old babies. The alternative offered was to leave a £1200 pushchair in the lobby, which was not a safe option for us. Furthermore, on the evening of our stay, my wife and 14-year-old child experienced allergic reactions, with their eyes swelling up. It was only after researching online that we discovered the hotel was dog-friendly, information that was not communicated to us upon check-in. As a result, my wife and family had to leave abruptly at midnight due to health concerns. Despite being assured that the manager would call to discuss the matter before any payment was taken, we never received a call as promised. Multiple follow-up calls were made, but each time we were told to expect a call that never came. The lack of communication and disregard for our concerns from the manager, as evidenced by Boris's indifferent attitude, was disappointing. No alternative solutions were provided for the poor accessibility of the room, leaving us feeling frustrated and unsupported throughout our stay. Overall, our experience at Castle Bromwich Hotel was marred by inadequate accessibility, undisclosed information about pet-friendliness, and a lack of responsiveness from management

"First class food and service"
peterjj, 12 Mars 2024

To celebrate Mothers Day I booked a table at lunch time for my wife and myself. On arrival we received a warm greeting from the manager Marius and Sophie who made us feel welcome. Lewis introduced himself to us and showed us to our table and took our order for the food and wine. The meal was served to us which was well presented and of excellent quality and the wine was first class being served at the perfect temperature. The service given by Lewis and his team was first class and made my wifes day perfect.Thank you to you all for the kind attention given to us.Well done and we look forward to our next visit. Kind regards, Jean and Peter

"Honest review"
198savannah1995, 15 Février 2024

Although the main building was beautiful the facilities in the room were very poor. The windows were covered in black mould, the shower would not get hot, the internet didn't work on our phones or TV.

"Underwhelming"
Welshabroad792, 14 Février 2024

If you want.. - a difficult and tedious check in process -To stand by the entrance gate in the pouring rain, pressing the intercom button for some time before gaining entry into the car park -To climb flight after flight of stairs with your luggage -Sleep in a room thats crying for some paint -Enjoy not having hot water -Use an iron, thats been an iron for too long Then this is the place for you

"Great hotel, exceptional welcome"
D307EBemmab, 01 Février 2024

Exceptional welcome from the receptionist who I think was called Harry, really polite and helpful. Will definitely visit again, room was large, clean and very welcoming. I visit a lot of hotels and this was really high standard. Reception area was light and airy, bar and dining also fab

"A great family get together at CBHH in Jan 24"
annacalLondon, 22 Janvier 2024

We had a family get together of 21 people at this hotel this last weekend. The staff were very friendly and responsive, catering deliciously for vegetarian and vegan diets as well as the rest of us. The food was very good, everyone enjoyed it, and we enjoyed being in such a comfortable characterful hotel with gracious bar, sitting and dining areas. We even had a guided tour of the magnificent public rooms, including Queen Mary's bedroom & the Long Gallery, from the v knowledgeable Peter. It's well located a few minutes drive from junction 5 of the M42. It has its own extensive and beautiful grounds, next door to a delightful community garden and nature reserve. It was a real treat for us all. Thank you CBHH.

"Wonderful Christmas"
johnyuanzhen, 27 Décembre 2023

We, family of three with a toddler, stayed here for two nights and enjoyed the Christmas day dinner. Beautiful location, great room, delicious food. Very attentive staff. Overall very charming place. Highly recommended.

"Family visit back to roots"
689stuarth, 19 Décembre 2023

Recent visit back to Brum to see family, and stayed at CBHH. We had 2 rooms, a family with 3 beds and a double for eldest. Apart from the lack of light bulbs in family room, very spacious and comfortable for 4 of us. Double was again very nice size and clean. Overall the break was very nice and we were lucky that the hotel was not fully booked so always easy to find seats for a drink or food, wherever we wanted. The downside to the trip was the younger staff and the food. We saw 2 receptionists during our stay, a bubbly one always ready to help, and the young lady glued to her mobile. A couple of the younger serving staff also desperately needed a personality transplant, as simple requests for extra plates or highchairs, got the reaction which made me think I had inadvertently asked him to give me his kidney. Observing the room it would appear several other guests had a similar experience. And leaving the dining area in a huff and throwing his order pad was a little unprofessional. Which brings me to food which, although a good choice and descriptive, and well presented, for the cost was very overpriced and bland. Overall it was a pleasant break in a loverly old building and well looked after grounds and nearby nature trails. We would stay at the hotel again

"Afternoon tea, birthday gift"
Jo M, 06 Décembre 2023

Wonderful place,we had afternoon tea,it was amazing and value for money, the staff were very polite and helpful, would recommend this place,it's a hidden gem,a lovely building with so much character, food is delicious and the afternoon tea was amazing would even say it's Michelin star

"Very disappointing stay"
FarAway01580686696, 01 Octobre 2023

I chose this hotel from booking.com. I should have known it was going to be a rubbish trip when someone tried to scam my card. The room was ridiculously small, I had a 250mm gap to into and out of bed. The mirror was broken, the power points didn't work. If I sat st the desk my wife had to climb over the bed to get past. Lots of pictures of fantastic rooms, but none of the rubbish. Ordered a meal at the bar as couldn't get near restaurant for wedding guests, it took tem minutes to get cutlery after the meal was delivered. When I asked about breakfast I was told that it would be £15 per person, so we didn't bother, on checkout invoice clearly states Bed and Breakfast. I will never stay here again and could wait to leave ruined my whole weekend away.

"Avoid"
kevins623, 28 Septembre 2023

Absolutely shocking experience at this hotel, left my Laptop in the room after checkout. Called the hotel, who informed me that they had found my laptop and would keep it safe until I could arrange a collection. Left it on full display for someone to simply walk in and steal it Even though they had CCTV footage of someone taking the laptop from the back of reception, they refused to report the crime to the police. Claimed that it's my fault because I felt it behind in the 1st place. Dreadful attitude, as apparently they get a lot of crime.

"Lovely building but ….. "
Connector605993, 08 Septembre 2023

We stayed at Castle Bromwich Hall for one night in three rooms . The rooms themselves were very clean but dated . The public areas and corridors were unkempt and needed vacuumed. The chairs in the lounge were filthy . Breakfast was buffet and not great . However it is a beautiful old building with a great history and lovely grounds BUT it could be so much better . Staff were mainly very friendly and there is so much potential to improve this hotel but at the moment sadly we would not stay again !

"Not great "
40lizz, 25 Août 2023

I'm so sick of the disruption caused by this hotel. They make no effort to clean the lane outside the hotel, they allow fireworks late at night and show no sign of making the area safer by guiding visitors to park appropriately. There are never any signs to advise their visitors where to park so motorists can be seen driving round looking for somewhere safe to park. They have been holding events here for a while so should be more organised now tbh.

"OK for a night but dodge breakfast"
Vikki J, 13 Août 2023

Attended a wedding and booked an overnight stay. The building and grounds are stunning. The rooms were basic but OK for a night or two. Deep cleaning doesn't appear to be a thing here as cobwebs everywhere. Breakfast was diabolical. I stood waiting for 20 mins as they had run out of most items. Breakfast served 7-9 and we went at 8am so wasn't like it was near the end. A member of staff went and got the chef who looked as though she needed a good wash never mind the state of her chef whites. She complained at how many people wanted Breakfast (loudly in front of guests I will add) even though there had been 2 weddings the day before. Then found her smoking in her whites in one of the designated areas for guests of the hotel. The food when it did come out was awful. The bacon looked as though it had been boiled, sausages burnt and eggs undercooked. Just a state. Stuck to muffins and anything pre packaged in the end as made us all feel quite poorly. Wouldn't recommend at all and won't visit again.

"Elegant Moments at Castle Brom"
Khansa M, 12 Août 2023

Castle Bromwich was a beautiful venue to host my wedding. Elegant moments made the process as smooth as can be with exceptional customer service and turned the venue into my dream wedding with their amazing decor which truly left me in awe. Nothing was possible without the team at elegant moments, they went above and beyond for all of my events.

"A hotel with a historic heritage situated in a nice pleasant area"
jb09762023, 09 Août 2023

This hotel will appeal to those that would like to stay in a place that has a history which spans over several hundred years. It is situated in a quiet spot of Birmingham, once inside the confines of the hotel it is very much like being in a countryside hotel. It is a hotel with character.

"Classic, historic building"
cdvicke405, 04 Août 2023

Castle Bromwich was a great house and now it is a great hotel. The historic touches are wonderful. No wonder brides choose it for their nuptials. I have no complaints about the services and the people were lovely.

"A wonderful family wedding."
427abidb, 01 Août 2023

A wonderful family wedding at Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel. Thank you to Afthab and the team at Elegant Moments for making our day so special. No request is too much for the staff at CBHH - consummate professionals.

"Great value, good setting, convenient for my needs + would use again"
Mike A, 18 Juillet 2023

An impressive old set of buildings, I had a room in the Brew House - room was modern and clean, bed made each day and facilities were good. The building has obviously shifted at some point (or at least my room had) because the tiles close to the outside wall in the bathroom had all cracked. No big deal and didn't detract from my stay. There was an Asian wedding or celebration on the third night of my stay and this seemed to be handled efficiently and wasn't too loud or anything. Menu looked a little limited and I didn't try breakfast despite having paid for it as part of the package, as with a lot of hotels it is only available from 0700 onwards, too late for me when I'm working to a deadline locally. Would definitely stay again as it represented good value and I liked the parking and old buildings. Staff were efficient at check in and check out.

"Friendly staff but a little tired"
KerryC661, 16 Juillet 2023

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting family. We were situated in the brew house which is off the main hotel. Whilst our room was very clean and comfortable, the whole site is in much need of repair. Breakfast was a little disappointing. They did have a good selection of fruit, yogurts, pastry's etc but the cooked section really let it down. What food they did have had clearly been out for some time and passed its best. A positive are the staff. They were friendly, professional and well mannered which in hospitality is only to be expected but not always received.

"Swaby Wedding "
Lorna A, 10 Juillet 2023

I recently had my wedding here and what a stunning place. It truly is amazing I would like to thank Maruis for his support and hard work you always made right what others lacked ability to do so you made my day special. I would like to see Maruis with a support team as I feel having two weddings on the day shows the pressure your under can therfore have a impact. Reception staff (females)on more than one occasion were rude to myself and my guest arguing with other staff on front desk this is not good practice you are the first point of call and should represent the buisness and conduct yourself at all times . The other staff were amazing and gave us a warm and welcoming greeting and served myself and my guest well we thank you Some rooms need a revamp and and defo mattresses need changing in the bridal suit

"Disappointing"
maureenann58, 09 Juillet 2023

The Meal that never happened. Two weeks ago I telephoned to reserve a table for Saturday 8th July at 7 pm for 11 people. The receptionist was given the details, and said she would check with the restaurant and get back to me. She wasn't very polite as I gave her my mobile and home number to contact me. I stayed in waiting for the call that never happened and also sent an email. This was to be a special occasion for my daughters 50th Birthday so unfortunately my family and friends will definitely not be attending this hotel in the near future. The venue I did find was wonderful and they did want our custom

"wedding 25/6/2023"
lippsy, 05 Juillet 2023

We recently had our wedding there and the grounds are stunning, I would like to give a big thank you to Marius for his outstanding work throughout the whole planning and the day itself I do feel that you need a good support team to share the duties as managing two wedding on the same day can be very demanding, but we thank you dearly, may I just make a suggestion on preparation for any upcoming wedding that you possible do a rehearsal as I felt no one knew what was required of them except 5 mins before the event took place. I would like to mention the absolute appalling behaviour from the reception female staff towards myself and my guest you were rude to more than one guest on more than one occasion, one comment was said “what do you want “during an arguing with another male colleague on front desk. And we weren't the only party there to have seen the behaviour of the receptions staff. this is not acceptable at any time. you need to remember that you are the first contact of the business, and you must always present yourself well. overall the other staff were absolute fantastic especial the breakfast staff

"If you have a bargepole use it to keep the correct distance from this excuse for a hotel."
IfitaintBoeing787, 09 Février 2023

Woeful would be an understatement. It was like a visit to Fawlty Towers without the humour. They simply didn't care when we arrived, they didn't care whilst we were there and even when we pointed out how much they didn't care, they didn't care enough to even find out why we said they didn't care, didn't bother to respond or check or reflect as to why we had such a woeful stay and then didn't have the courtesy to even care about why they didn't care. I think it would be fair to say our experience was that it was a place where they don't care with the staff being led by the woefully inadequate excuse for management that will give you the sort of experience that makes you write a review like this. Be prepared to be disappointed!!

"Fabulous!"
Jo R, 30 Janvier 2023

We booked the Library for Sunday lunch to celebrate my Mum and Dads 65th Wedding anniversary yesterday. This place is amazing, absolutely beautiful and full of history. I cannot thank the friendly and helpful staff enough for making our afternoon a fabulous occasion they are so professional and nothing is too much trouble. The food was gorgeous and the room was just perfect. Special thanks to Marius, Daniel and the waitress who served us ( so sorry didn't get her name). We will definately be returning and I would highly recommend a visit.

"SPECIAL OCCASION - DON'T STAY"
catlover1963, 29 Janvier 2023

We booked a one night stay to celebrate my 60th Birthday and booked directly with the hotel the State Room ( Bridal suite) informing them it was a special occasion. We arrived and had a bar snack in the afternoon which was lovely while we were waiting for check in. On check in there was no recognition that it was a special occasion even though my husband had paid £250 for the night Our room I must say was lovely. Paying for the most expensive room in the hotel we did expect more than one complimentary tea / coffee but what did surprise us was not even a bottle of water in the room. We arrived to eat in the restaurant dressed up for my special day and were asked would you like the bar menu or restaurant menu? which disappointed us, surely you would eat a bar meal in the lounge bar. Still no one asked or acknowledged my birthday. The next morning breakfast was appalling you would expect a pot of coffee or tea but no they poured you half a cup ( like being abroad) only asked if we wanted toast after asking people that came in after us, when the breakfast came the scrambled egg looked like they had swept it up off the floor. At checkout we complained to reception. on seeing the photos of what we had been served and saying we could not believe my Birthday had not even been acknowledged she asked us to complain by email to be passed to manager. Receptionist was very understanding and by the time we arrived home she had the cost of the breakfast refunded. This has definitely been a Birthday to remember for all the wrong reasons. Should have never booked here. If you are thinking of staying here for anything special DON'T.

"Never been to anything better"
Berttash, 11 Janvier 2023

Staff spot on the waiter at breakfast was very friendly and the banter very good and brought sausages for our little dog nothing too much trouble if we were getting married again this could be the only place well done the whole team our special place

"Unforgettable, wonderful "
HZzzzz, 07 Janvier 2023

What to say about this hotel… it is a very special place indeed, steeped in history. Welcoming warm, classy… it is a little akin to stepping into Downtown Abbey in terms of the professionalism and courtesy of the staff. The grounds are stunning… it is extremely welcoming of dogs … even giving our friends dog a plate with treats for breakfast. Marius the receptionist is the consummate professional but also just delightful. We stayed with children and a dog… and felt totally comfortable. Wonderful stay we are already looking at when we can visit again.

"No room waiting for us… disgusting hotel and disgusting service"
whitneymA9169YY, 03 Janvier 2023

We booked 3 rooms months ago and was looking forward to all sleeping over together away from home after shopping in Birmingham and Christmas markets. We arrived early and was advised we were unable to check in for another hour which we completely understood and said that we will be checking in late as we are going to go shopping and for lunch with the children. When we returned instead of 3 rooms they only had 1 even though we booked and PAID for 3 well in advance earlier this year. The manager would not speak to us and said there was nothing he could do as he is fully booked apart from 1 room which he would be charging us for- we showed our booking confirmation and payment confirmation and still said he had no rooms for us and then said because he only kept us one room he moved it to the smallest in the hotel. We all went int the room to charge our phone last we had 3 children with us who were crying and distraught thinking we were stranded. The room of what we saw it was dingy small dirty and dark. We charged our phones and drove 3 hours home full of disappointment. The manager did not help us and now we are in the process of claiming our money back. Absolutely disgusting place - I've read other reviews with a similar experience. DO NOT BOOK HERE - much nicer hotels and service in the area.

"Very poor customer service"
sandrasC4232DJ, 02 Janvier 2023

Unfortunately this review is not about the venue, which is lovely but about the lack of contact from the duty manager Marius who was unavailable when l tried to contact him four times after a not so good Christmas Party Night. I booked this evening as a Thank You to three lovely friends who have given me such amazing support during an horrendous year. Due to me falling on the day which resulted in a fractured wrist so l couldn't attend. On enquiring the next day about their experience l was upset and embarrassed about the feedback. After emailing Sophie who handled the booking she informed me l needed to speak to Marius the duty manager. I have rung four times and he is never available, so left my telephone number for him to contact me. To date no contact. As an ex business owner working in the area, who has previously booked the venue successfully, l am disappointed. This does not give a good impression for the business. Surely the job of duty manager is to look after your customers.

"Fantastic Christmas Stay"
derekhU2530LM, 31 Décembre 2022

This hotel never fails, excellent room superb dinner and breakfast but best of all are the staff having to work during a very busy Christmas period everyone of them were cheerful and most helpful cannot wait to return this hotel is a real gem

"Superior room with a view - brilliant stay"
travellinmMark, 19 Décembre 2022

Stayed here overnight in December as part of a deal on a booking website. What can I say but Wow ! The hotel is really beautiful set in amazing grounds and full of history. Our room was a superior double with a view of the side lawn. It was well appointed warm, clean and tidy. Reception was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Really could not fault our stay.

"No room!!"
300joleneb, 26 Novembre 2022

So we arrived at our hotel approx 1pm following a 2.5 hour drive. We were told we couldn't check in as the room wasn't ready! No problem we left our cars and got a taxi into Birmingham were we spent a wonderful day at the Christmas market and shopping. Tired out we headed back to the hotel via taxi again. When we arrived to check in we were told we had no rooms booked?!?! We had confirmation of 3 rooms for 6 of us via email and the money had been taken, but for what ever reason they had cancelled 2 of the rooms!! Absolutely disgusting! We had 3 children with us and had to find some where else to stay! Every where in the area was fully booked! We then had to drive home, in the dark and heavy rain after an already exhausting day! Arrived back home approx 10.30 pm full of sadness and disappointment! The manager on the desk could t have cared less either! Basically said it is what it is! I'm absolutely appalled!! Do not book this hotel!!

"Welcoming Hotel"
Q859ROallanf, 21 Novembre 2022

My partner and I stayed here for Halloween. Just one night. We are returning guests who booked the Devereaux suite this time. The room was very cosy and the bathroom very large. Wow was our reaction. The receptionist was pleasant and most welcoming. The house has so much history and it was like staying in a mansion. Our meal in the evening was good, as expected. Bar staff were also friendly. Negatives: Our room should have had bottled water supplied but didn't. The breakfast was OK, but not great. Overcooked. We have had better. This listed Manor house has so much to offer and well worth visiting and staying for the night.AF

"Excellent service for afternoon tea!"
Alison P, 10 Novembre 2022

Visited on a midweek afternoon with my mother for afternoon tea. From entering, we were made to feel very welcome. The room was warm and we were seated overlooking the gardens. The food was presented beautifully and the china crockery was lovely. All of this was made better by the wonderful waitress, who was very friendly and couldn't do enough for us - thank- you! Don't miss the beautiful gardens; we visited on a sunny November afternoon and the flowers were still in bloom.

"Lunch"
philipniwa65, 27 Octobre 2022

We were there for lunch and my wife ordered a steak, it so fatty it was inedible. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and that too was inedible, It was full of coleslaw & side of coleslaw, no salad. I couldn't eat it.

"The Best Afternoon Tea "
Lisa W, 27 Octobre 2022

So myself and 9 of my friends went to this lovely historic hotel for a delayed afternoon tea,it should have taken place on Friday 9th September but due to Her Majesty passing away we postponed it and there was no issue with this,Lewis ,Marius & Sophie were very understanding and the celebration happened a couple of weeks later. Well it was absolutely perfect and I and my friends enjoyed three hours of pure indulgence at the hotel there were plenty of sandwiches Several varieties including cheese and pickle, tuna and cucumber, egg mayonnaise and ham with mustard. The variety of cakes was excellent as were the scones, clotted cream & jam and because there was so much food we ended up bringing some home with us in special boxes so that none of the cakes were damaged. The tea and coffee were supplied in abundance in many varieties including Earl Grey,Cammomile & Honey, regular and decaf tea and coffeeand the were refilled on several times. The service was excellent too and the food was enjoyed on fine bone plates, tea cups and saucers. A really big thankyou to everyone at the hotel for their warm welcome, wonderful service and everything else that made the occasion so perfect.

"Restaurant experience.Hall is beautiful yet food disappointing and expensive"
louise m, 25 Octobre 2022

Hall beautiful but we was disappointed with food quality and was very expensive for what it was and the service wasn't brilliant ether we will not be returning We wondered why the restaurant was empty!

"It was like being on the set of Fawlty Towers #Simply Awful"
IfitaintBoeing787, 22 Octobre 2022

Rude, unrepentant, short staffed and just simply did not even care enough to apologise. From within seconds of checking in our heckles were raised by the rude receptionist who just doesn't seem to understand that she works in customer service and that hotel guests are not inconveniences to her day or evening. Just when we thought it couldn't get much worse we went breakfast and to say that there was a baying mob of unhappy and hungry guests would have been an understatement. I fully expected at any moment someone to lead a charge to the kitchen to make it ourselves. We get people don't turn up, we get things go wrong but how you deal with it is what most people remember and I will remember this list for a very long time.

"5 Stars For Marius"
DEJ1970, 21 Octobre 2022

We held our recent conference here for my company. We hosted in the Malt house which was on the ground floor level. Nice room adequate for our needs. The building is beautiful and a lovely setting for weddings. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay as i was only really sleeping in my room. We however were entertaining clients and i have to feedback on there behalf also. The food was very poor and i have to say the breakfast was appalling. The hotel is a little tired in parts and needs a bit of TLC. However there is a true gent that works at the hotel called Marius, this guy is an absolute gem, who goes over and above to make sure everyone is happy. I feel sad to read that some people have criticized this lovely man. He literally runs this place single handed. The rest of the staff are a joke however. Marius was off on our final day and we had to go and ask for tea and coffee to be brought in at the designated time i had asked for a comfort break. So all in all my review is for Marius give this guy a pay rise he is the main man. If i go back to this hotel it would be to see his lovely smile and receive his wonderful welcome.

"Conference stay"
Lara n, 21 Octobre 2022

Visited this hotel for a conference we held in the Malt House room on the ground floor of the building and had a pleasant stay/successful conference - all thanks to the hotel's amazing Manager - Marius! Marius delivered an outstanding level of service and commitment to the hotel and made sure we were looked after, which was in fact a highlight of the stay. Marius worked so hard we could not believe it! The outside of the building is absolutely beautiful - especially the gardens plus parking was free & no problem. My bedroom was beautiful with lots of light and space, however; other guests in the party complained of the opposite issue of a dark, small room so this is slightly off - putting when you are entertaining customers here in case they get a bad room... The food I experienced was not good - from breakfast to dinner it was all not great and for such a lovely place this should be improved. The breakfast was particularly poor. Overall, a nice stay despite the food. Big thanks to the lovely Marius for all his help, hard work and dedication - from telling us the history of the building to setting our conference room up, serving drinks until we all left and being very efficient all round, he is a legend!

"Jane & petes birthdays."
Pollyabbey, 20 Octobre 2022

"Birthday treat"
Hannah P, 03 Octobre 2022

Booked Castle Bromwich as a birthday treat for myself and children. It was close to Birmingham about 30 minutes drive if that. Staff were lovely, nothing was too much. They informed us about all the history of the building which my children loved. Beautiful place, lovely sized very clean rooms. Would recommend a stay

"An excellent venue for corporate events"
RichardPoynder, 29 Septembre 2022

My company, Smartex Limited, needed a venue in or near Birmingham for a 2-day conference and exhibition for 125 delegates, including overnight accommodation and meals. We discovered the Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel, a classical country house situated a few miles outside central Birmingham, and convenient for the M6 and M42. It had a conference room large enough to accommodate over 120 delegates, and a large marquee which proved an ideal setting for our exhibitors and for refreshment breaks and networking. With over 40 bedrooms, a good number of our delegates were able to relax for both days without setting foot outside the several acres of handsome gardens. What really scored with us (and we've been doing this for nearly 30 years), was the service level and the quality of the food. We had dinner for 72 guests in the main restaurant, where the staff were polite, fast and extremely capable. The wine was reasonably priced and the three-course dinner was first class. An adjacent bar area stayed open until the last guests left at 3am. The whole experience was relaxed, efficient, friendly and of real quality. Highly recommended.

"The perfect hotel"
Stuart F, 12 Septembre 2022

This is literally one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Stunning building and a welcoming reception area. The grounds are lovely to walk around as well. I was staying in one of the outbuildings. Room was spotless and well maintained. Comes with the usual tea and coffee making facilities, fan, iron and ironing board. The food is exceptional. I had the steak and prawn (surf and turf) and the steak was cooked to perfection. Cheese board was perfect, with the right mix of sweet and savoury. It was so good I had pudding as well, a really good brownie in filo pastry. The menu was well thought out and there is something for everyone. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. They are all very friendly and professional. I would happily stay here again and I hope to be back again soon.

"Wedding reception"
dawnbH2663SK, 11 Septembre 2022

We Recently held our wedding reception here and I can't fault it at all. The staff were fantastic especially Marius!! The venue is a beautiful place and the grounds are very well kept. The food was incredible (an afternoon tea and a hog roast). Staff were very friendly and got involved with us all. They went above and beyond to make sure our stays were good. I loved the state room and miss the beauty of it already. Many of our guests commented on how beautiful the place was. For anyone considering to hold their wedding or event here I would highly recommend. Thankyou for helping with our special Day you really did a fantastic job! The Gibson's.

"Disappointment"
lesg101, 31 Août 2022

I had planned on eating here tonight and I admit I was a little later than planned to arrive. A long busy day at work. I asked at reception if food was still being served as the website states 5 pm to 9 pm. I arrived at 8:50 pm. I was told that the kitchen has been carnage all night and that the chef has had a nightmare. Was asked what I might want and eventually told to go the the bar where I would be given a bar menu. At three minutes to 9 I asked at the bar and the girl went to check with the kitchen only to return with an answer that the man I spoke to at reception had shut it. I don't know if this person is new as I have not seen him before and have stayed here for sometime now on and off. I would have stayed and waited for him to return if it wasn't for the fact that I needed to change my plans and eat elsewhere. Why on earth would someone deliberately waste my time?

"Afternoon tea"
Ladiesout, 29 Août 2022

Attended for afternoon tea, a professional group of ladies. Short supply of sandwiches also bread dry as though had been left out. Not very quick in offering drinks we had to ask. Myself and a friend often go for afternoon tea at the Arden hotel, which may I add is half the price and the food and attention far superior. I had intended to compare with castle Bromwich hotel, however I would never book here again. The manager also appeared to be watching/monitoring us throughout our afternoon. I would not recommend this hotel.

"Never, ever stay here. Beautiful main building but noisy, room was not in main building. Very noisy music all night"
Moty1974, 12 Août 2022

Noisy, sleepless sauna nightmare. Had so looked forward to staying here so is a real shame. It looked so beautiful from photos. And it is on arrival. However, our room and indeed most rooms seem to be mainly in very unspecial 1970s outbuildings. It gets worse. Shower is a dribble when you can any water out at all. There was literally no hot water. Reception said would send someone to look at. No one came. I couldn't be bothered to re-ask. It gets worse. Room is very small and very hot (it was sunny and hot day in August) where no air conditioning. So window has to be open. Even without that, the music from wedding was non-stop and all night. Reception apologetic but advised nothing they could do since fully booked. The hotel warms can be noisy where events are on, but I had specially requested at time of booking a room as far away as possible since we had an early start where my son is competing in the National BMX Series. It gets worse. Had looked forward to a lovely full English breakfast which had paid for in room rate. Asked at check in what time breakfast served. Unfortunately not until 8am. 8am….this is crazy. So no breakfast on cards for us. Not great start to competing in National BMX series. Will travel up from Virginia Water with early start next time. Inevitably will have got a lot more sleep than will here. And would have got to eat breakfast. Would be a nightmare but that would mean sleep was involved. Genuinely advise you to stay at home and set off early to where you are going, or Premier Inn or anywhere in fact but here.

"A gem of a find…"
DawsonandAli, 09 Août 2022

This was a last minute booking as needed to stay in Birmingham. The building and gardens are breathtaking…it's just oozes centuries of history. We enjoyed drinks in the garden and a lovely meal. Special thanks to the superb bar staff! We will return.

"No wi fi in annexe"
Tour600850, 09 Août 2022

We stayed in 2 rooms in the Dovecote annexe for 6 nights for the Commonwealth Games. Rooms were good size and clean but we had no wi fi access because the signal was too weak from the main building. We reported this to 3 different members of staff but was only resolved on the last evening. Looking back through reviews this problem is not a new one, but hotel has obviously not invested in a booster for the annexes. Apart from that issue, a good stay, hotel well situated.

"Commonwealth games stay"
dianeburwell, 07 Août 2022

Excellent find in this stunning 17thC hotel, with most beautiful gardens to relax in. Our 2 rooms were both in the Brew house building adjacent to the main hotel. Lovely clean comfortable and quiet rooms even though the hotel was full . A perfect stay for our Commonwealth games visit to Birmingham.

"Commonwealth Games visit"
karensL3304RQ, 07 Août 2022

Hotel was situated near all venues we visited. Clean and tidy. Staff very friendly especially Peter. Set in beautiful grounds. Definitely would visit again. Breakfast well presented and lots of choice. Bar staff very helpful.

"Drinks good but hotel scruffy around the edges"
Graham L, 05 Août 2022

We decided to go for walk and stopped for a drink at the hotel last weekend. Initially all was good with a nice seating area overlooking the hotel lawn - an ideal spot for a relaxing drink on a sunny afternoon. Service was efficient and easy. However the hotel was looking very scruffy around it's grounds - a dirty and tatty marque, rubbish tip in the car park and any spare outside area used as storage. Later we went for a walk at the hall gardens (separate to the hotel) and more piled up furniture and rubbish was stacked and very visible all along the boundary - not a great view for customers of the hall gardens. So overall very disappointed. This hotel could be very good but needs work to get there.

"Great Afternoon Tea"
Sarahdus7_1991, 30 Juillet 2022

"Afternoon tea."
mariasX3790MB, 28 Juillet 2022

We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist upon our arrival, we were soon assisted by our very friendly and attentive waiter who showed us into the Garden Resturant. Our afternoon Tea and Coffee was served with a selection of delicious sandwiches and a choice of lovely cakes and scones. All in all we enjoyed the food and the impeccable service. The Hotel is a joy to behold as are the grounds. I would not hesitate Castle Bromwich hall hotel as a place to visit and enjoy the afternoon tea. Thank you to the hardworking staff for making our afternoon so enjoyable.

"Cream teas"

Afternoon cream tea Visited here and had the cream tea which was bought us on voucher. It was one of the best cream teas I have had. Sandwiches very fresh with plenty of filling. Warm scones with jam and cream and lovely selection of cakes. Sat in the grounds and enjoyed our included prosecco's

"Afternoon tea and evening meal for a hen party"
debbietW6783MO, 16 Juillet 2022

Absolutely shocking service got there at the time stated we could go in room which we payed for it wasn't ready and when we did get in we had to to tidy it up bar service was Appalling because they had no staff at one point they had no glasses had to wait for the afternoon tea and the main meal was a complete shambles they forgot some orders some of the group actually left which I don't blame them we waited over an hour and half to speak to manger when he finally came to speak to us he admitted to our faces he chose not to come and speak to us absolutely fuming completely ruined the day

"Excellent allergy care"
Klaire R, 08 Juillet 2022

As a coeliac I contacted the hotel before visiting to let them know of my food allergies. They assured me that they would be able to meet my needs. I was attending a function at the hotel as well as staying and they arranged for suitable food to be served there too. Once I arrived the staff were wonderful, arranging for me to meet the chef and ensuring that all of the food I was served was allergen free. The food at the function was fantastic and a number of the other guests were jealous…. It was clear that they took my condition seriously and we're trained to understand it, checking with me where necessary. Special thanks go to Lewis and Daniel, Mikaela and the reception staff for all their help.

"What a lovely find"
Whatawonderfulworld, 23 Juin 2022

We stayed here prior to an NEC event and what a find. It's not far from the NEC and so much nicer than staying in a bland/expensive hotel nearby. The hotel looks stunning, lots of history and has a large garden if you want to sit out with a drink and enjoy the sunshine or take a stroll. We had a lovely, comfortable twin room in the main hotel which was full of character with windows that actually opened (rare these days) and a modern bathroom with waterfall shower. We had a nice bar meal at night (pie & chips) and a great full breakfast. The staff were fab - a shout out to Sophie on Reception who was so helpful, Peter on breakfast duty and the girl in the bar who were super friendly and made our stay even nicer.

"Needs some improvement"
Gjb581, 23 Juin 2022

Main hotel is beautiful. Restaurant was good but poor selections for vegetarians. My room was in an annexe away from main hotel and was clean and comfortable, but WiFi from the hotel did not extend to the annexe. Potential problem on check in when the American express card I had used to reserve the room online was not accepted on site. Beautiful grounds were looking a little uncared for. Would I stay here again? Yes, but perhaps not at £100 a night

"Private 90th Birthday Party"
CabeyCabey, 20 Juin 2022

I booked the group room for a family celebration of my mother's 90th birthday for yesterday afternoon and can only say we had a magnificent time. The building itself was fit for royalty, not only those who have visited it over the past centuries but also 'queens' such as my mother. The room was perfectly laid out for our group of 16 and the staff were flexible enough to allow us early entry to add a few personal touches. There were no issues with my mother gaining access in her wheelchair from the front door to her place at the table. Though three of our guests unfortunately had to drop out that morning the reduced numbers were not a problem with the management. Regarding the food, most of our group had special dietary preferences that were happily and skilfully accommodated by the excellent chef who provided sufficient quantity and exceptional quality of food for our tastes at a very reasonable cost. Nobody was disappointed. Thank you so much. The group is till talking about the food, the service, the ambience of the building and and mother still talks about the day and the great gardens. The staff though young were always professional and exceptional and we were happy to see they enjoyed their serving as much as we enjoyed their service. I can say no give nothing but praise for our experiences provided for us on the day.

"Fathers Day"
peterjj, 20 Juin 2022

My wife celebrated my special day by taking me to the restaurant for the Father's Day A'la Carte Menu, On arrival we were greeted by Lewis who promptly made us welcome and seated us at our table and explained in detail the menu.We made our selection and asked for the wine list which had an excellent variety. The white wine was brought to the table in an ice bucket and on trying it was at the perfect temperature and the food was the same..Well done Lewis first class service and excellent food we look forward to our next visit

"Stunning site with a few big issues and lots of little ones"
roodootoo, 04 Juin 2022

The site is stunning, as beautiful as the photos if not more so. It was a short drive from Resorts World where we were attending a conference, and we got a discount from booking directly with them. I can fully imagine why people would choose it as a wedding venue. Unfortunately there were just so many problems which need correcting. Big ones: -We booked a deluxe double, at a slightly increased charge. This specifies that you will get a room in the main house. We did not. We were not offered a partial refund or apology for this. The annex is lovely, but it's just not what we paid for. -At the restaurant, I asked whether we could get the chorizo and prawn pasta without the chorizo. We realise this was different from the menu but was happy to get something else if needed, as I am pescetarian. The dish just sounded delicious! My partner joked that this didn't just mean picking the meat out. The waiter said that was fine, and absolutely could be done. When the food arrived, he placed it down saying "The prawn pasta without the chorizo." Immediately we saw something which looked more like a large piece of chorizo, rather than a tomato. We decided to wait for the waiter to return and double check. That was the right decision, because he returned a few minutes later and said that there was chorizo in. I have never in 13 years of being pescetarian been served red or white meat in a professional setting. I asked for fish and chips instead. He said that we wouldn't pay for the incorrect pasta dish or the fish and chips. We were charged for the fish and chips on the bill. -We were thirsty in the evening after we returned to our room. Not wanting to travel outside into the main house, we decided to get a drink of water. There was one tap in the bathroom, without a sign saying it wasn't drinking water. There was also a kettle in the room, so we assumed it was drinking water. It tasted really very odd and not right. The next day, I got a tap water at breakfast, and also got a tap water at a restaurant just up the road. Both tasted normal. I can only assume from this that the water in our room was contaminated. Small things: -The path from the annex to the main house across the little lawn at the back had a hedge which was overgrown so you had to push through it to get through. -Our breakfast table had crumbs and jam on the tablecloth as we sat down. They didn't offer us another table or to swap the tablecloth. -We ordered sourdough and olives and oil. We didn't get sourdough, but other bread. The waiter at the end said, "Did you enjoy your sourdough?" We didn't really know how to respond as he had served us the non-sourdough. -In the morning we weren't really sure what to do at breakfast (e.g. which elements we were allowed to serve ourselves). The waiter said that he would make us toast. The bread went in the toaster and remained there until cold, at which point another guest, who presumably thought it was help yourself, took the toast. The waiter never brought me toast nor apologised for not bringing it so I self-served in the end. -There were small dark hairs on our bed when we arrived, one on the top of the bed, and one under the blanket on the sheets. -There was a lovely selection of shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom, but no soap for washing your hands. We assumed you used the shampoo in the end? -The waiter in the evening seemed a bit overwhelmed and undertrained. He was lovely, but left the dining room for long periods. At one point, a guest resorted to running after him (literally running) to try to order more drinks. -Someone who looked like a manager came into the restaurant in the morning during breakfast, and criticised guests within ear range of us eating breakfast, for what seemed like a minor infraction. This felt unprofessional. -A few guests were leaving ahead of us, and the same (manager?) was asking them how their stay was. One guest commented lightly that they didn't have biscuits in their room as promised with a jokey tone. The hotel staff member responded defensively in a situation which could have been smoothed over or joked about very easily. I realise I've listed a lot of things, and the second list is really small things you could forgive if there were just one or two of them. Even the top few would be absolutely fine if they were the only problem with the booking. But the combination of everything took what was meant to be a relaxing stay in a 4 star hotel to being less than that.

"Serious food safety issues"
EmmaSkegness, 22 Mai 2022

The stay was poor from start to finish - and was staying for a 30th birthday which was truly ruined. I'm coeliac and cooked weeks in advance with breakfast, informing the hotel of my dietary requirements and checking they could cater. On checking in the receptionist wasn't very friendly and was quite dismissive. Asked me to sign the usual check in paperwork, and I turned to the second page to check what it said and saw my allergens written down (great!). I triple checked and made sure to say I cannot eat from a buffet due to allergens which she said she'd let the kitchen know. In the morning after a terrible nights sleep due to disturbance from other hotel guests being rowdy we came down excited for breakfast. It was a bit of a weird set up with a good trolly and drinks opposite reception in the waiting room area. I mentioned again my food allergy to the waitresses and that I could eat from the buffet, would need it to come from the kitchen. Whilst they were speaking to the kitchen an older member of staff spoke to me took my room number and I explained the waitress had gone to the kitchen to sort out my breakfast, he said yes they knew about my allergen not to worry. Then some time later after being seated for a while the waitress brought out two vegetarian sausages, half a plate of mushrooms and a cooked tomato. I was really confused and asked why there were no beans or eggs etc which should be GF. They were very unsure about allergens and she said the chef had said these were the only GF vegetarian items. I asked if she could double check and she came back and said I could have eggs and beans and they would sort it out. I had become quite uncomfortable by this point as when you have a serious good allergy and the staff are giving you no confidence they understand basic food allergen safety which they're required to by law (to avoid killing and causing serious harm to people) I was wondering if I could trust what they had given me so far. It was a dry plate so I hadn't started luckily as was waiting for toaste eggs and beans, when she came back I asked if she could triple check the sausage and then a male member of staff came out and informed me that the sausages they had given me and told me were safe and GF (after I had explained I had a seriously good allergy 3 times - on booking, check-in and at breakfast) contained wheat and were not GF. I gave him the plate and said I can't eat that then, it's a good job I didn't start or the hotel would have sent me to hospital. He said ‘we didn't give you those, it's a self service buffet and you helper yourself'. The communication was horrendous and I had to go on and explain they had come straight from the chef who had said they were confirmed GF. He then backtracked and said they thought they were GF as they weren't labelled as containing gluten and only contained wheat!? I am truly horrified at the lack of food safety training at this hotel, that waiting and kitchen staff could not know wheat contained gluten and basic allergen safety. He spoke to me like I didn't understand and said wheat extract is GF and I had to explain BROWS to him. But my biggest concern is how many people is this hotel poisoning and that they could kill someone. Luckily I didn't eat the food, but what happens when someone's child, mother, husband, nan comes and goes into anaphylaxis because they didn't realise there were nuts in it? Where is their allergen booklet they're legally obliged to have? Where are the allergy labels on the buffet? Basic inconsideration too like all the fresh fruit in directly next to the toaster and in my room they put Gluten biscuits with teas and coffees, but these are minor and no issue compared to being given good and told it was GF which could have caused me to be seriously ill, and off work, in which case I would have sued them. As it is I'm on holiday for the week for my birthday but left feeling uneasy that if I don't report this to the local authority and the food standards agency they could kill someone and I can't have that on my conscience. I would appreciate management getting in touch via email to let me know how this happened, and how they will prevent it happening again. I would additionally add that I was made to feel like a nuisance for having allergies and then ignored/treated dismissively after receiving my refund for breakfast. Historically I've worked in a lot of hotels, so hate to leave bad feedback but it was so badly run and the staff were really rude. We also got hardly any sleep as there was a wedding and the guests we're running riot without reprimand. Again, I'm a fairly chilled person and my brother got married recently so I get having fun, but screaming, singing and shouting it rooms for hours around teatime and then again screaming in the corridors around 2pm. The first time I genuinely thought it was a Saturday night event downstairs and they were singing sweet Caroline full blast and it sounded like kareoke but eventually realised it was the room next door. We came down and spoke to someone who said they would inform reception. They at 2pm when it happened again I rang down and they were very blasé and said the first hadn't had a drink in 2 hours and were just saying their goodnights, it wasn't really acceptable at all. No one came up although they did say they would ideally we called again. They didn't luckily quiet down after around 30 minutes but continued talking loudly in the room. I didn't complain as in fairness you should be able to talk in your room and in that's they weren't doing anything wrong. The issue at that point was the walls between the rooms are wood not brick and have zero sound proofing. So sad as I simply couldn't recommend anything g buyer avoiding this hotel completely, but it has such potential. Beautiful room and grounds, just poor customer service, no knowledge of allergens, bad management and rooms have no sound proofing. The food thing simply isn't acceptable and isn't dangerous, they cater weddings, breakfasts, afternoons etc. This needs addressing urgently.

"Beautiful afternoon tea"
caraighs, 02 Mai 2022

Me and my family had a beautiful afternoon tea, extremely accommodating to differing dietary needs, likes and dislikes. The staff were extremely friendly and atmosphere was welcoming. Highly recommend!

"Two lovely overnight stays."
Peter A, 30 Avril 2022

We had a few nights in Oxford last week but we decided to stay overnight on the way there and back to split the journey. We came across this hidden gem. A beautiful building with lovely surrounding gardens. Our room was a separate one in the 'Brew House' building and we could park right outside, which was great! A very spacious and comfortable room and a bargain at the price. It was quiet at dinner, so we didn't need to book and the food and service was excellent, as was the breakfasts. The waiting staff couldn't do enough for us. All in all, two very pleasant overnight stays in a lovely place.

"Afternoon Tea"
Becky S, 28 Avril 2022

Friend and I bought our Moms an afternoon tea voucher and arranged for them to go on a week day. Sandwiches were hard and dry, clotted cream was frozen and whilst the serving staff were very kind and tried to replace items it totally ruined the gift we had arranged. Manager didn't want to know and just handed the gift voucher back to them, they ended up elsewhere for food. We realise we all have bad days but to do nothing !!!

"Very Disappointing"
A7899RMchristined, 27 Avril 2022

This hotel is very convenient for business travel due to its close proximity to one of our sites, I used to stay here a few years ago and stopped and I was reminded of my reasons when I stayed early April 2022. The shower pressure was poor and took over 10 minutes to properly rinse out shampoo let alone the conditioner! Evening service was good although some of the staff were more interested in staff chatter than customers requirements. Breakfast service where do I start....! when I arrived at the restaurant the waiter was not present he was however busy chatting to the receptionist and seemed in no hurry to deal with the customers waiting to enter the breakfast room. When he did tear himself away he showed me to a table that had not been cleared from a previous hotel guest. I selected an alternative table and I was told I could not sit at that table as it was set for dinner! (more than half of the dining table were laid out for lunch/dinner service its 7am!) The waiter took more than 15 minutes to return to my table to take my order and this was only after I had to request his attention. He did not write anything down which was evident with the fact as it was wrong! I waited over an hour after chasing updates 3 times and each time to be informed its on its way! once the wrong breakfast arrived I informed the waiter that I had requested no Black pudding and to my shock he removed said black pudding from my plate with his bare hand!!! throughout my entire wait I was only offer one cup of tea, which was probably a blessing as it was stewed! and the only updates i received were from me chasing up my breakfast! throughout this breakfast service I witnessed 3 other hotel guests leave without receiving there breakfast due to the length of time taking to either be acknowledge and take the order or for the food to arrive and the table behind me received a plate of scrambled eggs only which was ordered as full english with scrambled eggs!!! I WILL NOT be staying here again! regardless of how conveniently close it is to the workplace!

"Lovely afternoon tea"
nd669, 23 Avril 2022

Had a lovely afternoon tea, lovely food and decor. Staff were really pleasant and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We had a private room which was really nice. Would definitely recommend!! Courtney and Daniel were really nice and helpful :)

"Birthday afternoon tea"
234leannei, 23 Avril 2022

Visited today for an afternoon tea to celebrate my nan's 90th birthday. We were given a private room and the staff were very friendly and attentive. We had a lovely afternoon and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend.

"Superb afternoon tea"
ldI689CH, 23 Avril 2022

I visited with a group for an afternoon tea, it was a lovely venue, food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. We were given a private room which was lovely! Daniel and Courtney were lovely and an asset to the business

"A pleasant short stay"
rowlandsp68, 20 Avril 2022

A pleasant short stay to get a few comfortable hours test before our flight. Located in pleasant surroundings with lovely gardens. The fish and chips from the bar menu were delicious and the room was pleasant and clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. Thank you.

"Great stay, big rooms"
Anton C, 18 Avril 2022

A bit old school when you enter reception but the rooms are quiet and quaint. Have stayed a few times and never been disappointed. Good access to motorway and local amenities. Beds are good quality and the towels soft in comparison to even the Crowne and Plaza

"Dirty and rude staff"
TheOneChef420, 17 Avril 2022

The reception was rude. The servers were children and rude. The manager (if you can call it that) was just a bitter weird man. Didnt even stay the night. I left for the belfry. I wish i read the reviews.

"management"
O9805Smit, 11 Avril 2022

Absolutely disgusting, while staff got upset by management i had to wait to be served so as a table of 6 we left. We will not be back. Staff upset who seemed to do a good job in keeping customers happy.

"Only stay here if you are happy to sign all your human rights away! Owners sit at home watching you live on cctv"
Stay49366308811, 11 Avril 2022

I cannot believe what I have just witnessed, I'm currently staying at the hotel for a second time (for business within the local area, booked by my work place) below average 3 star, dirty room and near next to no staff to run the place. A young girl who is serving and running around like crazy because the lack of staff has came running out crying, literally tears rolling down her poor face. Obviously on seeing this I rudely listened into her conversation, the owners are sat at home watching CCTV of a family sat in the lounge (when on earth is this legal?!?!?) I shall be contacting the SIA tomorrow to speak to them with regards to this!!!! The waitress has been told off for allowing this family to sit in the hotel lounge, what sort of hotel refuses guests the right to sit in the lounge when other guests have the rights to? I have no idea why the owners are watching their staff and the customers on the cctv while they are at home but this seems very much against anyones human rights of privacy, when I checked into the room nothing was mentioned about giving my permission to be live streamed around the world while I go about my business unaware of being on camera. I will however be contacting my company and refusing to stay here again, seeing how this place is run, the quality of food (not even to the standards of a cheap pub cain) and now the fact my privacy is being violated! I did stop the waitress to ask if she was ok and ask what the issue was but she didn't give anything away, just said she had some bad news. Obviously their staff are more in fear of losing their jobs than being in a happy environment.

"Terrible service & rooms"
cafolla87, 08 Avril 2022

Stayed here on Tuesday the 6th of April for work and was extremely disappointed.... I booked superior double through their website and when I checked in I was put in the "dove coat" this is an outbuilding round the back and off to the side of the main building. (Which is also cheaper to stay in £89 per night compared to £109 that I was charged) When I asked about my room I was told they were fully booked and that's all they have... If the room had of been of decent standard this review would be very different... But.... The room was terrible... Firstly the heating was off so if felt like a fridge when I walked in. Next the wall light about the bed was hanging off the wall, 2 ceiling lights were hanging down aswell. Then I noticed the walls.... The paint had bubbled and was peeling and the walls had marks all over them... If this was a cheap hotel I could understand but.. this is supposed to be 4 stars.... I would definitely NOT recommend you stay here .. overpriced and you don't get what you pay for

"Business was a pleasure"
Trappergabe, 08 Avril 2022

I stayed with a colleague after a show at the NEC. A hidden gem, the building itself is stunning along with it's surroundings. Reception were friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the hall. All the staff were really attentive in a quiet professional way and looked after us really well. Dinning in the hall is a treat. Food was excellent and dining room has bags of atmosphere. Maybe I just loved the building, but the stay was perfect. Shame this was business, next time I'll take the wife. : )

"Business overnight"
andyhughes2017, 01 Avril 2022

Poor deal. Expensive - When I arrived on a Sunday night there was no one on reception - I had to wait ages to check in - they appeared to be understaffed. The evening meal I had was overcooked and the chips hard and overcooked with lots of scraps of potatoes, The worst thing was I asked for a 5am call as I had an early flight from the airport. That didn't happen and when I went downstairs the night porter was in the bar area and I had to get him to let me out and he said he FORGOT to ring me !!! The superior room was pleasant but right at the top of the house - and would not be good for someone with mobility issues.

"Good value, pleasant staff and convenient"
Dafydd56, 25 Mars 2022

Ignore the previous review about safety and security! We had a great stay. The car park and hotel were and felt safe. They must now have a state of art CCTV system. Room and accommodation was great. Staff friendly and dinner in the restaurant was good. We would stay agin and it was handy for the NEC ( the purpose of the trip)

"A well deserved rest."
OnAir793003, 21 Mars 2022

Stopped off here on the way back to Cambridge. Fantastic looking place. Beautiful well kept grounds. Was able to sit outside, sipping gin and tonics, watching the sun set, in March. Excellent meal, great staff, good comfortable bedrooms. Reasonably priced. Would come again.

"CAR JACKING"
Chrisdoc65, 14 Mars 2022

If your life lacks excitement I suggest you stay at this hotel. They throw in CAR JACKING at no extra charge. We were in the process of parking when we were attacked by 3 men one wielding a machete. Our car was stolen with our overnight bags. We then spent 2 hours with the Police. We were not asked to pay for the room but did have to spend £140 on a taxi to get home. We were not harmed but a frightening experience. The car park is not secure. If it ever happens to you you will find it very difficult to get your insurance to cover your losses, Chris Steere

"Enjoyable weekend stay"
Koutaliaphobic, 13 Mars 2022

Lovely staff and lovely location. Very accepting of dogs which was amazing. Room was nice and clean and food was delicious. Easy access to the gardens and parks across the road. They even left out water bowls and bins for the dogs especially, really nice touch to make our stay easier. We will definitely be back next year!

"Valentines night"
michael c, 04 Mars 2022

Great reception from Marios on arrival, he remembered us from a stay in August 2021! Young lady on reception remembered us as well. Very friendly staff. We had booked the Bridgeman Suite as it was a special occasion where the beds were decorated with heart shaped paper which we thought was lovely. Our Valentine's meal was superb - congratulations to chef and Marios for his hard work in making the evening a tremendous success for us. The waiters on duty, Michael and (Secunda?) were friendly and very professional. We had a great night.

"Castle Bromwich Hotel"
Lorraine022011, 29 Janvier 2022

Although a quick overnight stay we had a good dinner in the hotel's restaurant. The staff were helpful and very friendly. The room was spacious and had all the necessary amenities. Castle Bromwich Hotel is worth staying at. Will definitely return for a longer stay

"Disappointing Afternoon Tea!!"
flatiron2009, 22 Janvier 2022

Very disappointing experience. Me and my friend, who is chef thought very poor offerings. Would not recommend to anyone. No choice of teas, sandwiches were ham, cheese n pickle as I said lactose intolerant. Had to ask for sandwich for friend. One finger of salmon/cucumber put on plate. Portions small/poor considering money paid. Thought Hotel would use vintage crockery given it is an historic building. Lemon cake dry and macaroons were tasteless. So disappointed........ Courteney, our Waitress tried to see if she could get return of voucher but to no avail. Do not go there......

"Overnight Christmas stay."
G2198STjoanneh, 23 Décembre 2021

My daughter and I checked in at 9.45pm Wednesday night. The man on reception was so helpful and polite. We stayed in the Bradford Suite which was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was really enjoyable but the highlight for us was the lovely man unfortunately do not know his name who spent time telling us all about the history of the hotel and gave us a little tour. I would definitely stay again if I was in Birmingham and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Great building, staff need to be trained to give the wow experience"
mdjohnst, 23 Décembre 2021

The hotel is amazing, the rooms brilliant. I was staying just as things were starting to kick off with the pandemic so the hotel was quiet. No one available to check me in. Had to phone the hotel to find someone. Plenty of parking, although I could imagine this filling up quickly if there was a function or the hotel was busy. The room was lovely. Really nice bed, lovely chair to relax in and plenty of hot water. Although I hung my towels on the towel rail, they were changed. I was under the assumption that hotels should only change towels if they are on the floor or in the sink. I did not need them changing so minus a point on the environmental front. Breakfast was cooked to order. Poached eggs on the first day were fine, the second and third day they were overcooked. Coffee was awful. I am sure it was instant. Staff, although trying hard, the training they have had is minimal. A few were ok, but one word of advice. If a coffee cup is empty, you could ask if a refill is required. Luckily, the coffee was grim, so I did not require one but was not asked. Tasted like typical grim instant hotel coffee. This is an amazing building, with amazing rooms and decor. It's a shame the level of service does not match up to this. Show the staff a little direction and you will provide a great experience.

Again another delicious meal with family and friends at Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel Gardens busy with happy smiling faces. Marius and Daniel and their team made it joy to spend the afternoon with them. COVID friendly and very comfortable with all staff with a keen eye making sure everyone had a pleasurable afternoon. Highly Recommend.

"Quite Good"
JohnO422, 24 Novembre 2021

We hired one of the private rooms and it was great. Nicely decorated and very private. The food was OK and the staff tried very hard with the service. Overall we were pleased with the service. It was good to see the manager on duty which is rare these days. The reception area is a bit disappointing. There is no need for guests to see the ugly security TV screens. I would give the reception a make over. The toilet area near the reception is also tatty. Take down the signs as the are ugly.

"great stay"
Owen12351, 01 Novembre 2021

stayed here for 4 nights in the Dovecote hotel staff was lovely and welcoming on arrival the room was really nice except there was loads off dust on/ in the wardrobes and in the Drew's what I wasn't happy about because all my clothes got all dust over them the next day after i checked in but apart from that all good

"Alright if you must"
harold f, 06 Octobre 2021

Arrived, checked in no issues. Got to the room and it was freezing as one of the windows won't close correctly. I know they are old but at least put something in the gap. Evening bar and meal was fine (fish and chips) and a pint. Breakfast is from 7-9. I was working at the NEC so needed to be there for 10 o'clock. Went into the breakfast area that was around a third full with about 10-12 people at half 8 and ordered a full English. 50 minutes later no food. Just as I was leaving, a group who were already seated when I entered received their food. So this is not a one off missed order. 2 ladies came in after us and sat waiting to give their order for 15 minutes, before standing up and leaving without eating anything. I spoke to reception and told them about the wait and they said the food is on its way, but it was too late we didn't have time now. There seems to be a lot of young people working there who didn't really have any direction and things seemed very hap hazard. If you are a hotel and breakfast happens everyday, how can you not cook a full English in less than half an hour. The group who were in before us who received their food at least 50 minutes after ordering all had eggs Benedict. Toasted bun, wilted spinach, poached egg with some sauce. How does this take more than 15 minutes? There is a lack of leadership and care about this place. I was hoping to receive a phone call today from the manager as reception said they would inform the manager when they got in. Still nothing. Not sure I will get a reply on here. I want 2 things from a night away. Decent room and breakfast. Massive fail on the breakfast. I did get £14 refunded for the breakfast.

"Never again!"
sal363, 04 Octobre 2021

We booked a Sunday Lunch for 4. On arrival decided to have a drink in the bar prior to lunch. The chap in the bar didn't seem to understand English and how to make a drink. He had to be shown how to slice a lemon by the manager. The dining room was cold and completely lacked any atmosphere. We were booked for 2pm lunch only other guests in dining room were having cream teas, odd combination. Lunch arrived, good sized portions, in fact too much couldn't see what was on the plate. We asked for horseradish sauce to accompany our beef, told there wasn't any. As we were finishing another group came in for Sunday lunch and they were given horseradish sauce! We'd already told the manager couldn't believe no horseradish sauce with a roast beef dinner, he didn't respond. Very young inexperienced staff. Wouldn't visit again.

"Mother in law,s 75th birthday"
liwieb, 03 Octobre 2021

The service was excellent and so was the Sunday lunch we could not fault the food. Thank you for a lovely afternoon. They made my moms 75th birthday special. The yorkshire pudding we're the biggest i have seen.

"Lovely Staff, let down by a Poor Hotel"
J0eyQ, 03 Octobre 2021

Brew House - Room 625 This review is going to conclude in a pretty negative manner, sadly. Before that, though, I do want to say how friendly, professional, attentive and fantastic the staff are. Unfortunately the hotel lets them down Very uncomfortable bed. Solid pillows (I slept on the bed cushion!). Hairdryer broken. Towels missing. Previous guests clothes in the wardrobe. Stains on the carpet. Wedding during our stay (so very loud music and neighbour guests until 1am) which is fine, if one is forewarned which we were not and had paid upfront. Curtains didnt draw across the full window length. Breakfast options were very limited. We left a day early (despite having paid in full, upfront) as we couldn't imagine staying any longer and having another sleepless and painfully uncomfortable night The lovely staff need a payrise for staying here! Im sure it was once a stunning hotel but it needs some TLC/attention.

We spent the afternoon at Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel and after a delicious Sunday lunch with family and friends. Marius and his staff made the whole afternoon a delight. We was expecting some hiccups with short deliveries and staff problems that's been happening with pubs clubs and hotels in the area, we'll if there was any we was not made aware of it. Perfect afternoon for us. Big Thank You to Marius and all his staff. Be back soon. Kind regards. Patrick

"Anniversary treat"
michael c, 05 Septembre 2021

Arrived before check-in, so had a lovely sandwich lunch in the bar. Slight problem with our room, but moved straight away. Executive twin in main building - tired, but - come on - the building is over 400 years old! The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom very modern with a lovely shower. Dined in the restaurant which was really enjoyable, thank you to Tiq and Jamie for looking after us. Food was great. Breakfast also very enjoyable. Many thanks to Mariso and Sophie for looking after us so well. Sophie said my husband reminded her of her granddad (he is 80!), she was a real treasure. The gardens next door are well worth a visit also. We would have no problems in staying here again.

"My wedding at Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel"
Chaz3098, 05 Septembre 2021

I had my wedding at castle Bromwich hall hotel on 28th august 2021 and I had such a wonderful time. Marius and Sophie are great at what they do and the day was everything we wanted it to be. We will be visiting again for anniversaries. The service was wonderful and I fully recommend.

"Filthy and tired"
Andyboy4, 03 Septembre 2021

Seemed ok when I first arrived just a bit tired. Pleasant lady on reception (who turned out to be fantastic) I was dispatched to my room with wifi code which worked sadly the wifi didn't Quick shower and a bit of tv (on a really small tv) then bed after a 4:30 am start In the morning i noticed the toilet seat had excrement on it !!! Being a man I had no need to use the toilet seat previously. on further examination the outside of the toilet pan also had excrement spattered on it. Utterly disgusting and totally acceptable. On looking more carefully at the room the carpet was Unvacuumed and there what appeared to be the contents of someone's nose on the wall. I went to reception and let my thoughts be known with photos also as evidence. The receptionist was brilliant and promised to sort it out by way of partial refund and move room by the time I came back in from work. When I returned I had been “upgraded” to an executive room in the main house. Not really an upgrade, smaller bed, smaller room, small tv and no bath. Better view though Was cleaner room and comfortable Breakfast was appalling. Very very limited choices full English was cheap ingredients and not a lot of it. The general condition of the hotel was poor it looks great from the driveway but look a little deeper and this place is crying out for investment. Broken furniture, filthy carpets, poorly maintained grounds and buildings, severe portion rationing and cheap ingredients. No partial refund arrived Make of that what you will, I stay in lots of hotels on a weekly basis the only good thing about this place was the receptionist

"Under staffed"
Stay49366308811, 31 Août 2021

Poorly staffed, the staff are none stop running around trying to deal with overwhelming amounts of people. This morning there were two girls serving around 30 other guests, one girl not even a waitress (Receptionist) having to run the whole place it seems. This hotel has great potential to be something spectacular but they need a lot more staff to raise the service levels. I hope these people are being paid a lot of money because the amount of stress and pressure I have witnessed them under this morning is ridiculous. Hats off to Chloe and Nina. I hope on my return journey to see double the staff with a little more work f a relaxing atmosphere.

"Beautiful hotel, beautiful feeling"
Hugo12Hooper, 27 Août 2021

The moment I walked in i was greeted by the beautiful Nina, made my life so much easier to check in and sort my diner reservations out. None stop smiling and made me feel at ease after a stressful journey. After a little confusion with rooms Nina managed to sort everything out for me and even upgraded my room. After this experience I will always come back and recommend this hotel to the rest of my colleagues while in the area

"Avoid like the plague."
jungle58, 22 Août 2021

My family travelled from Scotland for a special occasion and booked rooms in the Castle Bromwich hotel for 3 nights. On arrival rude staff refused to accept the booking confirmation and said no rooms were available due to a wedding booking. One staff member/manager? told them she wasn't paid enough to deal with complaints and walked off . No offer of help to find alternative accommodation for an 80 year old woman and her daughters as they said it wasn't their problem. My family contacted the booking agent immediately to report the issue but the following morning received an Email from them to say they had not shown up at the hotel.. Rude, unhelpful and then lying . We found out that night the same thing happened to another guest at out celebration who had booked in for one night. In the words of my niece they couldn't run a bath never mind a business

"Wouldn't recommend staying"
chloebI6879ZO, 19 Août 2021

We went to a wedding at castle Bromwich hall hotel the wedding was lovely and the food was good some of the staff was lovely and helpful, however the rooms! To begin with they said to check in after 2 so we did they was quick to take the money out my bank 3 times may I add not just two which I was paying for my moms Room, now I have to wait for that money to go back in while they got there money nice and quick but the rooms were not even made Nando's and food all Over the room why did they let us check in if our rooms weren't even done? Like I said quick enough taking the money out my bank the women said she would Sort me a discount out but still Hasn't been sorted out as the room was £95 which is scandalous for what the rooms are there small and with only two tiny little windows so no air Coming in at all, I won't be staying there again unfortunately and I won't be recommending anyone to stay however it's a nice venue to get married in and they make sure everything is moving smoothly especially Sophie

"How did they ever get 4 stars???"
marnie176, 28 Février 2020

What can I say....the first room in the attic of the Brew House had rodents having a party in the ceiling at 1am, add to this a bathroom with black mould badly painted over. The next room had a lovely bathroom but the inevitable dirty net curtains and drapes hanging off the rails. As for the food...fortunately the bar food was mostly ok but how can bought in wedges of Brie be consistently served cold and hard in the middle. Spinach and ricotta tortellini which was swimming in what resembled tasteless watered down cream. Rae in reception was always pleasant but the same can't be said for some of the other staff. I certainly won't ever go back.

"Lovely lounge and resturaunt, food very good."

Really dirty net curtains in the bedroom, was told maintenance would deal with it,not nice to look at,nothing happened as it was the weekend, room by the bins, which kept blowing back across are window in the wind. Woken at 5.30 a.m. by the bins being emptied.

"Not all its cracked up to be"
RonLawrence, 19 Février 2020

The evening meal was great with fine dining at its best with wonderful staff and great value for money. The bar and ground floor areas are pleasant and comfortable. So they have all this right. Let down by the bedroom. The bath had a great crack in it that had clearly been there for some time and either it leaked through the crack or the plug was not fitting properly because the water kept running out. There were loose tiles on the floor and mould on the silicon in the bathroom, the window in the bedroom would not shut, luckily we could shut the curtains in order to keep the cold away. When we told them about the bath they did agree to reduce the price of the room, however this never happened. They did say that they would look at the bath while we were having dinner, this then turned into 'when we had left'. Would be interested to know if room 314 has a new bath!!! Management must have known that the bath was like this, after all no one cleaning the bath could have not noticed a 3" split, if they didn't then they should have! Breakfast was well cooked, tasty, plentiful with great poached eggs. One pair of guests decided to take all the jugs of juice to their table and I would have expected the waitress to deal with this. She was easily distracted and had to deal with a mother who thought it was good for her child to spend the whole breakfast period running around the room with several boxes of cereal. The mother stood by our table to give the waitress her order and as a result the waitress confused our order and thus we had a long wait for breakfast. It was such a shame with a few pounds spent on the bedroom the stay would have been good and they could charge more and still given good value for money. When we left in the morning and walked to our car we noticed what looked like a tip, or where someone had been sleeping in one corner, not a good impression.

"Not what's advertised"
Businesstraveller181, 12 Février 2020

I booked a superior double room expecting a spacious double room with period decor and a bathroom with a bath. I was given a classic double room that was clearly an out of place unused office room turned into a basic bedroom. I rang reception and stated that I had booked a superior double room and I didn't think I was placed in the right room, I was told they were fully booked and would knock £20 off my room rate (I'd already heard them say this to someone else on the phone whilst I checked in) I also asked at reception if they offered room service, which they do, to then get to my room and find no menu. The room is freezing, the window won't shut properly so there is a constant drift coming in. Bathroom is lovely and modern, just disappointed there was no bath like I expected. It is not what I expected at all, I stay in Birmingham with work quite a lot now but I won't be staying here again.

"Impromptu Afternoon Tea with Cakes"
judyhI1061LB, 12 Février 2020

Just dropped in with two friends and asked if it was possible to have pot of tea for 3 persons with cakes. It was and the service was excellent, the tea and cakes were delicious at a very reasonable price. Thank you for a pleasant afternoon in cosy surroundings.

"Amazing hotel"
J5700VZscottt, 03 Février 2020

Amazing service (Asim gets a special mention), but the staff are friendly, polite and are an asset to the business. Fantastic stay in a historic hotel steeped in history. Can not praise it enough. Will be staying again

"A lovely short stay"

"Could be so much better"
AlisonH448, 12 Janvier 2020

Myself and three family members booked here for the 12:30 Christmas Day lunch. I have both good and bad comments to make so I'll start with the bad, get them over & done with and then end on a high! We arrived to a very warm welcome and were told punch & mince pies were waiting. Mince pies BEFORE dinner?? Bit odd. Anyway couldn't see them anywhere - must've been in another room! We sat down pretty quickly as we had two disabled people dining with us. Drinks came quite quickly as did each course. We all thought the portion size of the main meal was a bit meagre; no roast parsnips and one very tiny (the smallest I have ever seen) pig in blanket. Veggies came in a separate dish so we could all take what we wanted. Although I prefer fairly crunchy veg, we all thought these veg were just on the very hard side. I had chocolate brownie for dessert which was more like a chocolate sponge but the ice cream was gorgeous and I ate it all anyway as it tasted very nice irrespective. Bit of an odd thing with the cheeseboard - we waited and waited but in the end I had to ask (it was listed on the menu). I hadn't seen anyone else being given the cheeseboard at all. The chap looked a bit taken aback when I asked and I reckon they had to go & milk the cow before actually making the cheese, it took so long, but what came was acceptable. Nothing to write home about, a very basic cheeseboard, one between two, with no butter for the crackers and not nearly enough crackers to go around. Could have been so much better because the cheese was a very nice selection & very tasty. Seemed like it had been rushed & not put together properly. Despite all these niggles, we did enjoy the food and we had a very nice time. It's just a shame that some things could have been so much better with not much extra effort to be honest. We were asked literally about 8 times during our meal if everything was ok. Seemed a bit over the top, but I'd rather be asked too often than not at all. What I liked about this Christmas Day lunch was that each table was served at its own pace rather than the whole room being served each course all at the same time. This building is beautiful and the Great Hall is such a lovely room to have Christmas Day lunch in. This place has everything it needs to be a superb choice for Christmas, but some really small (and odd) things let it down. Hopefully next Christmas will be better!

"Disappointed no one got back to me"
anitat740, 10 Janvier 2020

I chose this hotel for my partners birthday , on the 1st January 2020 it was close to home and a beautiful looking building . On arrival I was very happy with my choice the hotel looks stunning and is set in lovely gardens. Our room was equally as lovely I had chosen a superior room so that it would be in the main building as the other rooms are in a separate building. The bed was comfortable and the room had everything you could need for a night away.. Bathroom was equally as lovely if not a bit modern for the building ( could have done with being renovated to its era for that extra special wow). I'd also booked the restaurant for a 3 course meal which was ok but didn't leave us feeling wow, cost for a 3 course meal for 2 with a bottle of wine was around £80 . After dinner we decided to relax in the lounge area by the bar, sitting in the comfy sofa area I was horrified to see a mouse walking around the floor!! My partner did tell the man on the desk as he walked in and is response was to move a mouse catching devise from one side of the room to the other. This then ruined was was a lovely evening because I couldn't settle . Breakfast at the hotel was much nicer than the evening meal with a good selection of continental items plus the choice of a cooked option. Over all for one nights stay with breakfast at £180 I'd say I've stayed in better for less, Sadly after speaking to 2 separate people regarding our concerns about mice and emailing the hotel no one seems to be concerned

"Christmas lunch"

"Boxing Day Disaster"
Foodie01211, 02 Janvier 2020

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! We had booked a table for 12 on Boxing Day, starters only 8 starters had came out, 4 starters came out 15 minutes later than the rest .. The MAIN course was an absolute disaster, it started when one of the young waiters came it with 4 turkey dinners when only 1 had been ordered, 1 was placed down and left to sit while they tried to scramble to get the rest out, still getting it wrong the second time they then tried to rush the 3rd time, this time serving RAW beef (not rare) because the service was so bad people had finished their mains 45 minutes before some people were served their raw mains, and when they did try and serve the good 1's an hour later, they hadn't cleared the raw meals from the table #SHAMBLES! A 50% discount was reluctantly accepted, I do in feel in this case a full refund should have been offered!!! Such a shame!!! Avoid the plague at the moment!

"Could do better - we only had lunch there"
Jon E, 19 Décembre 2019

We regularly drop into the Hall for a coffee or lunch as we love the location so much, my wife's grandmother was a chambermaid at the Hall and we find the building stunning, however the food is very hit and miss. We dropped in for tea and coffee today which was of a good standard and well presented, we usually read their complimentary newspaper over coffee but the staff couldn't find the paper today. We then decided to stay on for lunch, my wife opted for winter vegetable broth and roll and I went for pie of the day and confirmed the waitress confirmed it was ok to exchange the mash for chips. We explained that we wanted the soup and pie as mains and wanted them served at the same time. The waitress brought my wife soup and me soup together so we explained again we wanted the soup and pie together and that I had not ordered soup.. She apologised and said my pie would be with me in 2 minutes. It wasn't. My wife was very disappointed with the winter veg broth - it was hot water with courgettes and onion, she ended up leaving half, the roll and butter were fine. My main was served 5 minutes after my wife had finished, The pie was really nice and turned out to be ham and mushroom I think. But was ridiculously salty. The chips weren't chips as we have had previously (triple fried) but were a few fries in a bowl. The new general manager came over to us and asked us if we were regulars and asked us for feedback, which was good and we gave him very honest feedback on today's food. In hindsight we should have sent both meals back to the kitchen. It is 2.5 hrs later and I am still thirsty from the very salty pie and we have just noticed from the bill we were also overcharged, being charged for the 'chips' as and 'extra' which I actually exchanged for the mash. Its a great location with huge potential just needing to up the food standard and be consistent in the food quality.

"Disappointing birthday trip"
AryMook, 01 Décembre 2019

We chose this hotel based on the lovely pictures, for a memorable birthday break for my boyfriend. We pulled up to the hall and were impressed with what we saw. However once we checked in, we were told we were based in Dove Cote and not staying in the main building. This was quite disappointing as when I booked the hotel, I put in a note stating that we were staying for a birthday etc. Nothing was accommodated for that which was disappointing, as we've had great responses in the past from other hotels. Dove Cote is on a different road to the main building, you can walk over but will need to move your car over to the separate building. It's like a converted horse stables or something similar. We stayed in a room on the top floor and had the floor to ourselves. The room had its bathroom downstairs and the bed upstairs. We went back to reception to see if there was any possibility of changing rooms/upgrading but the receptionist was quite blunt and rude when saying the hotel was fully booked. Also the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly. There's was urine at the back on the seat, which was there when we checked in. Super gross! Hated to think what else hadn't been cleaned properly! We wouldn't stay at this hotel again and felt like we were falsely advertised a room.

"One night stay"
2outandabout2019, 29 Novembre 2019

Stayed one night while in area visiting Jaguar Manufacturing Tour. Was bit concerned after booking due to the negative comments left by others, but needn't have worried. We stayed in the Devereux room which was very large with wood panelled walls, and fireplace, plus an ENORMOUS bathroom with two sinks, bath and great large shower. Had great nights sleep. Bar area was lovely with comfy seats - we'd eaten in the Toby Carvery down the road before arriving, but would have had no reservations about eating here. We had breakfast in our room due to an early start and it was fine. Large on-site car park and prompt helpful staff.

"1 Star breakfast"
traceyh1600, 25 Novembre 2019

Nice character hotel but severely let down by the breakfast. Buffet style with such a limited selection. One type of tinned fruit, cardboard cheap sliced bread, where the brown had ran out. Pastries, well best not talk about them. And the cooked breakfast, well the 15 or so fried eggs on heated tin tray looked inedible. So I asked if asked if the ‘chef' could cook me something poached eggs. Where the young lad returned and said the ‘chef' wasn't cooking poached eggs today. I use the word ‘chef' very cautiously because the limited breakfast looked like it had been cooked a 6 year old. Management: I am not the only one commenting about the breakfast. How can you let your ‘chef' present such a low standard 1970's style little chef quality food. Poor show and severely let's your hotel down.

"Great hidden gem"
AngBev66, 20 Novembre 2019

This lovely hotel hosted a surprise 80th birthday meal for my mother and 17 guests. We had the pleasure and privacy of the garden room which was perfect for the occasion. The Manager and his staff were very accommodating and so helpful to pull the surprise off and service was second to none not only to top off our celebration with a selection of well cooked hot dishes, steaks, lamb shanks, soup of the day and freshly cooked bread rolls. I highly recommend this venue for dining and the grounds are beautiful.
