The hotel is old and worn out, with cleanliness being a major issue. There is a persistent moldy smell throughout the premises. Additionally, there is no elevator, so guests are required to carry their luggage up the stairs, which can be quite inconvenient. It is surprising that the hotel charges such a high price, comparable to other, much better accommodations. The only saving grace was the friendly front desk staff, who were kind enough to help carry luggage upstairs. However, the other reviewers are correct—this hotel is truly outdated and unclean, with peeling wall paint adding to its rundown appearance. Given its condition, the hotel should significantly lower its prices. I would not recommend staying here.
First, let me say I have a lot of experience traveling. I make around 15-20 trips a year. In the last 12 months, I have stayed approximately 70 days in hotels (I had to look this up to answer a survey from Best Western). All my trips are recorded in an app so I can keep precise track of them. Second, I have always used Best Westerns when I travel to the US, and my experiences have always been very good. I have a Diamond level in their customer program. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience during my stay in this unit. I arrived at 1 a.m. in the hotel after traveling all day from Brazil (12 hs since I left for the airport) and discovered I had no room. The receptionist said they did not have my reservation when I showed it in the Best Western app and the charge on my credit card. Then she said they had an overbooking, and no room was available. She tried to help by calling nearby hotels, but no room was available. Therefore, I had to look for another room elsewhere at 1 a.m. The next day, I returned, and the manager gave me a room for the second night and refunded the first night (around 70 dollars), even though I had to pay 120 dollars for a last-minute room at a nearby motel. I did not hear even an "I'm sorry" from the manager. This may be a recurrent and typical situation for him, but it was not for me.
This hotel is molded and mildew smelling if you have any type of allergic reaction to any type of mold or mildew do not stay at this hotel because they will still charge you even if you open up the door walk in have an allergic reaction turn around and walk out and have to go pay for another hotel up the street They will keep your money because their money is more important than your health I have severe allergies and allergies attack. I know to stay away from things and refrain from things, and I simply left and went back inside and told them I could not stay there for my health reasons that that would land me in the hospital unless I left, and they declared that their greediness and their money was more important than my health. I Priceline to try to resolve this matter either So I forewarn you if you have any type of allergies to mold or mildew, do not stay at this hotel do not stay at this hotel because they will steal your money even if you have to leave or you will have to stay there and you will end up sick I promise you I had an allergic reaction that stayed with me for a couple days after walking in the room so if I would have stayed in that room, which I wouldn't anyway it would've been far worse and it would land of me in the hospital for a business trip that I was down there for
It is a delightful experience to see how Susan at the front desk is very resourceful in assisting guests get matters resolved so efficiently. She was greatly appreciated helping to resolve my situation of locking my keys in my vehicle!!! She is a great source of information.
Would not extend my stay bc I had 4 people staying in my room who all smoke cigarettes so I was told to much traffic in & out. I am homeless and needed a place to get my funds and figure out what the next move was. But instead I had 2 hours to get all my stuff & find another hotel & leave.
The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were spotless. While the hotel itself could use some updating and a fresh coat of paint, it was a fantastic value for the price. The food was delicious, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. We felt truly pampered during our stay. The pool was clean and refreshing, although it would have been nice to have poolside towels available. Overall, a wonderful experience with just a few minor areas for improvement.
Dirty old hotel Even the staff is friendly rooms were not clean and we found insects in the eoom very unsatisfactory even rates were cheap in is not what I expect when I use best western brand in general desapounting stay for one night we te supposed to come back but finally we changed our plsn
For the price, it is worth it. This is an old style motel. It is in an OK area (industrial with very few residences even close) This is a good place to stay and sleep. A good standard hotel. Yes it is a two star hotel, but I rated it 5 since it was exactly what it should have been and most everything was great.
Would not recommend for more than a quick one day stay. Rooms and facilities in need of updating. Leaking ceiling in reception area with buckets collecting water, tired rooms, clean, but worn. Staff was friendly and professional.
Employers were very warm and welcoming. Even gave us ice cold bottled water and snacks upon arrival! That was really nice considering how hot it was that day! Everything was explained clearly. Rooms were well stocked with supplies. AC worked great. It was an overall wonderful stay.
For the money this place was perfectly fine for a good night's sleep. Very clean room, the typical great Best Western bed, good breakfast and safe. Just one more example of BW doing what they do best, providing an EXCELLENT VALUE. Pool was spotless and the desk staff were polite, knowledgeable and professional. No complaints whatsoever! A+!
Front desk extremely the best ,i been staying there lately while my house is being renovated and I happened to check out and left a bag with all my valuables in it and got a call from the hotel saying i left my bag in the room which i didnt know i did that i was shocked notting missing everything was all There i just wanted To thank the staff and management for making my stay at the sure stay Clwr stpete the best hotel and the best staff in the tampabay area
If I could give a zero rating I would. There was a roach in our bathroom. The breakfast was gross. There was an absurd amount of noise from other people staying there and the airport is incredibly loud.
Excellent service, very good hot full breakfast, rooms are very clean, staff are very professional, and polite.
Great staff and clean rooms, sure value with breakfast. Pool was clean and relaxing, added a nice smoking section outdoors. We always stay here for our staycation!
I always worry about doors to the outside. However, I felt safe. This place was perfect for helping me locate a new apartment for my daughter. The location is close to everything. We needed to go to downtown St. Pete and Tampa and to the beach all easy to get to.
Unfortunately our flight to st Pete was cancelled last minute. I called hotel as soon as I found out and the person I spoke with confirmed that our flight was canceled. As soon as I hung up the phone-my credit card was charged for the full price of the room. I called the next day and was told that I had been charged as a “no show”. Despite contact with hotel-I was informed they had no policy for flight cancellations. So even though my entire vacation ended up being cancelled due to airline cancelling my flight-the hotel chose to charge me full price. I do not recommend this hotel anyone. I understand the need for policies that account for no shows but to not take circumstances that are beyond the traveler's control into account is just poor. I will never book this hotel again despite frequent travel to the area.
We arrived at hotel at 10 pm after a day of travel. The room had 2 pillows per bed. We went to the front desk to ask for more pillows and were told that housekeeping was closed and they could not help us. We had to stuff our clothes under the pillows to try and prop our heads. Because of this an expensive pair of pants were left behind. When we contacted the hotel we were told they did not have them. After calling Corporate and patiently waiting for a response for a week- i was told they could not help and there would be no compensation whatsoever for our experience! NEVER EVER WILL I USE THIS HOTEL OR A BEST WESTERN AGAIN!
Hotel had a 3 star rating. I would give it an1, Website pictures make it look nicer than it is. Very small rooms, dirty floors, hair in bathtub, shower head dirty, no door on closet, tv small and old with no smart features. Furniture has water spots and is old. NOT worth the price at all. Very disappointed in my experience there. Still waiting on the email receipt they promised at checkout.
Right next to airport, rooms were very clean, walkable to several restaurants and CVS sells beer. We only stayed there 1 night coming off Cruise but had a great day spent by the pool relaxing. They will let you check in early if rooms are available (no guarantee). We did book 1 of our rooms for the night before cruise returned and contacted hotel so we had 1 room available when we arrived in morning, rest of group was able to get into their rooms at 1pm.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the facilities. I was a little bit worried about the proximity of the airport, but the night has been very quiet and peaseful. I just wish the coffee would taste better in Best Western hotels... i have yet to find one with decent coffee
Clean and safe hotel and rooms and friendly staff. Beautiful location and restaurants nearby. Susan shuttled my husband and I to the airport. Television channels were plentiful and we could find choices we liked.
We liked the convenient location and transp[oration services to and fropm the airport. The staff was very friendly while professional, and the place was oldish, but very clean and well maintained. Please change the exterior color. It's decades old mustard yellow....yuck!!!!
The rooms were clean and very cozy. The staff at check in where great housekeeping was great they cleaned the room and gave new towels anytime we asked. The hotel is next to the airport and I have stayed at many hotels next to airports normally it loud this place you can hear the noise but not nearly as bad as other places. Hallways and pathways all clean and kept up with this is a great place to stay I will definitely be back.
Room was dirty, roaches and bugs in the room. Floors were sticky, bed was broken, tub leaked, bathroom floor was wet, mini fridge leaked water, people dealing drugs in parking lot all night. Would never stay there again, nor would we recommend it to anyone else. Stayed 1 out of the 4 nights we originally booked. Left early due to the issues.
Being completely blunt & honest this place was horrific! After a day of driving 8 hours this was the last thing I wanted to deal with. Check in was a mess, lady at the counter was incredibly rude, and unwelcoming. I was told I had to have a cash deposit because they don't take cashapp which is stated nowhere on any website & I was told I should get my own towels to bathe because my red hair will stain the towels which forfeits my deposit! Getting to the room we were given the wrong room type, I booked the accessible because of my lupus, walking stairs & getting into a tub/shower is painful. We realized it was the wrong room type but decided I would deal with it. The entire room was disgusting! I contacted Expedia since I booked through them & when they contacted the property I was told they wouldn't offer any type of refund if we left. So we stayed because the other option was sleeping in our vehicle! The next morning I talked to the property manager & after showing pictures was offered a refund on 2/3 nights we booked & given a $20 discount on the night we stayed. That would've been great except the $165 refund didn't even cover the 2 nights at full price let alone the discount! We did take it & I contacted Expedia after going round & round with them they finally agreed to do what was right. I've had rough experiences with hotels before but never this bad. I was supposed to get a call back from the hotel manager but here we are days later & nothing!
We arrived at this hotel late in the evening. stayed for one day. It was a good hotel. We had Clean room, kind people on reception. And what's the most important thing for us is that there is very good and tasty breakfast.
Stopped here on way north from Everglades. Circled around to avoid the bridge toll so had to backtrack. Easier coming up across bridge. Nice location and clean spacious room. Staff caring and helpful. Beds very comfortable and room was quiet even with proximity of airport. Good amount of parking.
The young lady at night who check me in was very helpful and explained everything to me. She took her time even when I had a lot of questions. She also pointed some good places for me to beach. She said name was Maryland. She did a great job at helping me.
We live about 20 miles from this motel in a Zone A Hurricane evacuation area. So, we stayed in a motel to comply with the evacuation orders during Idalia. We weren't concerned with luxury, just a safe place to stay. The room was adequate, with a couch, desk, television, and reasonable wifi.
Only had one issue during my stay. Right now my family(Fiance, 3 year old daughter, and myself) are living in a hotel. This one has a great price for the area. Most of the staff is very friendly and helpful. Room is clean, breakfast is fresh and many options.
The night lady who checked me in named Marylyn was very knowledgeable when I talked to her about going to a certain area. The staff overall was very nice and pleasant. Made my stay there worth it and will definitely come back.
Rooms were very clean, beads were very comfortable and hot. Breakfast was nice as well. and it's conveniently located near everything. staff was very friendly. Only thing is it's near airport so it gets noisy every once in a while. but at night, it's very quiet.
I really enjoyed the staff at front desk. The ones I want to give a special shout out to is Maryin and front desk manager. They just went over the top for me. The only thing I didn't like was the girl at breakfast who doesn't wear gloves when dealing with food. Other than that I had a pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
As a best western time, and I spend many nights in hotel rooms, so I was very surprised at the response that I received to any fairly substantial problem from this hotel. When I was there, my room door was broken it took me forever to be able to access it, and rather than send somebody immediately to repair it Very little is done and to make matters worse rather than a Hotel caring what happens they essentially give me a $20 discount and sent me on my way. I was not happy about that if nothing else they should've come to at least one night mean the door to the room was broken. It took me over half an hour to get into the room each time I had to leave , that's not acceptable and their response for a diamond member is even less acceptable. The hotel self is in a great location a little bit rundown. The rooms are kind of middle of the road but if you're looking for location this one can't be beat just don't expect too much in major need of a refurbishment at bare minimum the doors to the rooms should work
SureStay is located very nicely and very convenient to reach from Clearwater as well as St. Pete. Staff is very cooperative and nice to talk to. Breakfast has good vegetarian choices. Outdoor pool was good and busy with guests.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds are comfortable. The location is close to everything we needed. Free breakfast is included. The pool was clean. Nothing fancy but good value for the money.
What can I say everything was exceptional, Staff was very friendly, even a staffer who's name she said Maryylin, she helped us and did outstanding service. Then there was a Sheena she was friendly as well. I would definitely recommend anyone to come and stay here again.
The girl at front Maryland did a great job. She helped me and did it with great attitude. Also the breakfast was nice and hot with a waffle maker on hand. The person working it did amazing job making sure everything went out.
They was bugs in rooms, breakfast very cold and same thing every day. location too close of and airport. very noisy. price that I was expected to pay was different at the end of the reservation. Having this Hotel in the list of Hotel when we reserved to is not a plus for the members.
We enjoyed our stay it is not a 5 star hotel. But it is clean older but taken care of and michelle on night shift was amazing to deal with. All of desk clerks are very nice and the breakfast was not bad. We will go back we liked it that much thank you all.
The breakfast was until 9:30 but got food was gone by 9:15. Rooms didn't have towels, they offered free shuttles to airport but didn't specify they didn't shuttle to Tampa. I had no idea there was an airport 10 miles from Tampa.
Older property, however, very comfortable for short stays. Good Location and lots of eating areas. Near Public and Cracker Barrel and Walmart. Staff is nice. Close to Airport (PIE) . We don't spend all our time in the room. Enjoying our stay.
If you are looking for a nice comfortable hotel in a great location for the right price then you have found it here. The staff is great, rooms are clean, breakfast is wonderful, and the pool and hot tub are fantastic.
We booked a 4-night stay at this hotel as we needed to evacuate from our mobile home as Hurricane Ian was heading for the west coast of Florida. I called the day before our arrival and the woman I spoke to said that they have never closed for a hurricane. When we arrived at the hotel, the doors were all locked and barricaded with luggage carts. There was NO note on the door saying they were closed. They never called, text or eMailed us to let us know they were closing. Needless to say, we were not very happy with them. Bad service to leave people hanging and not notify them that they are closing so we could have made other arrangements.
The Bed are comfortable and the breakfast if great. But the Bug ( Roach's) were not welcoming. I booked on Booking.com and my price was different than what I had booked and booking modified it for me. Tub was very slippery but overall not a bad place to stay but not your nicest either. floors make your feet completely black. It's age was showing. will post pictures later.
Hotel filthy, roaches in room and food was terrible. Location not good, not what the website showed online. I wouldn't recommend staying here. A lot of addicts around the area. I would give it one star
The room was clean enough, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there were some cleanliness issues in the bathroom within my room. Some small bugs scuttling around at night, and stains, splatters, and dirt all over the baseboards and lower parts of the walls. Property was poorly lit in the evening, and proximity to airport makes it a little noisy during the day.
I would never stay nor recommend Clearwater, Florida Best Western to anyone. The location is good, but the service and hotel are shabby. Some of the staff tried but no one succeeded. There were so many broken things, and the staff does not seem to know how to clean. Some of the complaints were addressed but not all.
Positives- great service, great breakfast (blueberry belgian waffle mix- yum!) Negatives- a/c at (max of 60) ran all night- never got lower than 75 (yes we had a temperature gauge with us), beds hard as a rock (military has better beds- yikes!), and smokers just smoke cigarettes & pot wherever they please instead of designated areas. Thus leading to medical problems for other guests. You get want you pay for here. A basic hotel room not worth staying more than one day for sure. Best bet is to spend a little more & get a better hotel experience.
I stayed 1 night before my flight home...worst night of my life. First off, after parking my car, I had to step over clumps of braids of hair weave that appeared to be tossed over from the 2nd level balcony. Once I got in my room it was disgusting at best. There was mold on the ceiling (and not just in the bathroom) and the room itself had a fowl odor of mold. I went into the bathroom and found several dead bugs in the bathtub, don't worry...I found some live ones too. Was blew off by guest services. I would have just left the hotel but there were a group of men standing outside my room talking most of the night and I felt unsafe to leave. I finally fell asleep above the covers fully clothed and got the heck out of there as early as possible. Please save yourself...this is NOT a 3 star hotel
Great location for everything we planned on doing in Clearwater. Everything was very clean. room, terrific staff and tasty breakfast and coffee: a treat! Liked · Super comfortable bed! we slept and slept and slept. Great, friendly staff. Very tasty breakfast & coffee (much better than the average complementary hotel breakfast & coffee).
Reading the other reviews made me kind of nervous to stay here but I was pleasantly surprised. The front desk staff was kind and very helpful. The room was clean with some recent updates (the contractors work could be better) The room was stocked with needed toiletries. We were close to the airport and never heard a plane. The AC was very cold. The room was stuffy upon entering and had a slight odor but soon cleared as the AC kicked in. The shower pressure was great and the bed was comfy. The buffet breaksfast was awesome! Hot food, cold food, almost everything except a breakfast roll. The best part of the stay was no evidence of folks hanging in the parking lot and no bugs or roaches like some folks had reported. Nice stay. I would go back!
Their name should be “Sure Stay Somewhere Else.” We have stayed at BW properties frequently but never the Sure Stay brand, and never will again. Hotel was dingy, dark, not the cleanest, and very sketchy looking characters hanging around. Next door was a man looking out waiting for…someone? Something? He was there when we went to get gas, still there when we came back…looked embarrassed and went in his room. Our door did not seal well, you could see outside with the door shut and locked! Not the most secure feeling. On a positive note, the beds were comfortable. We will still stay at BW but not the Sure Stay brand.
I love this hotel, the pool is nice and warm. The hot breakfast is good, and the staff is very friendly especially Krishina. She has great customer service. The beds are very soft and comfortable. The hotel is in a great location.
Barbara at the front desk was very down to earth, friendly and professional. The rooms were nice enough for an $80 night! I needed something close to the airport, so the planes didn't bother me. It was generally quiet as well. It felt safe and clean. While no boutique hotel, it was exactly what I needed!
We stayed here for a week and all the staff were excellent very friendly and helpful the pool was open all though we didn't go in it it was clean. We checked in on a Friday night and the lady that checked us in was very I believe her name was Susan she let us know about the breakfast and what they had on the menu. We went down to eat and we saw her there serving breakfast not Saturday morning everything was well stocked and she was on top of it. The lady who had worked the overnight shift was very friendly as well we asked for something fun to do in the area and she let us know about the beaches and downtown st petersburg. We will be returning before school starts back up.
Run down hotel, a bit loud being at where the planes are landing. They did have an included breakfast, which most do not have anymore. Not the worst not the best, not really even average. A lit bit seedy inside and out.
Barbara at check-in was extremely nice and inviting. The rooms were nice and comfortable. The morning breakfast was great. The property could use a clean up, paint job and updates. The pool needs more chlorine.
Beware, there are no elevators! I was traveling to take my kid to summer camp and had 3 very large suitcases. When I checked the guy told me I was on the 2nd floor. I asked where the elevator was and he said they didn't have one. I asked for a first floor room explaining about the bags and he said “well you better get some muscles because we don't have anything on the first floor” . I went outside to process this and after looking at the exterior of the hotel and the interior of the lobby, all things combined I decided to go back inside and ask for a refund. The guy said he was going to help me carry my bags but it was too late. Then he told me he couldn't process a refund and would have to what's app his manager. I asked for a receipt and he said he couldn't get me one without the manager. Somehow he finally got ahold of one and was able to print me a receipt. Worst hotel experience ever!
