SureStay Hotel by Best Western Bardstown General Nelson, Bardstown

This is a nice hotel. The location is perfect to get around the area. My mom and I stayed here over Labor Day weekend to celebrate our birthdays. You can tell that owners really care about the property. The updated room was very clean and suited our needs. I especially loved the closet area with vanity off the bathroom. The beds were very soft and comfortable. However our room was extraordinarily humid, which is uncomfortable. My mom said it was due to older air conditioning unit. I noticed no fan would run while showering in the bathroom. We had issue with the alarm clock automatically going off every morning at 6am. We did some troubleshooting and found the only way to stop the alarm going off was to unplug it. The microwave also would start on its own for one second then ding repeatedly. The only way to stop the microwave was to leave the door open. This also happened on our first night at 6am. So strange!

This is not at the exit -- you had to drive a couple miles -- but so worth it to see the old town of Bardstown. Very well kept, good service, good breakfast, and clean, comfortable room. We would love to go back again and see more of the area.

We stayed here for several nights in July. Our purpose was to visit Maker's Mark Distillery. The location was perfect since there really isn't much that's closer. The hotel is a short walk into Bardstown. There are plenty of places to eat and shop. There is a lot of history too. I'd only recommend crossing the street at the hotel before walking to the square. A couple of the intersections on the hotel side were unsafe for walkers. Our room was on a corner but we had no noise. The room next to us was having major plumbing work but everything was quiet well before evening. We did make a mess walking through concrete dust but our room was cleaned each day so not a problem. The room was slightly older and the mattress had me concerned before sleeping but it slept well! Breakfast was great and the person working there was friendly and helpful. Temperatures were very hot during our stay so we thought the pool was the best part! We met many others while there and discussed ideas for touring the next day.

we visited Bardstown and stayed here for one night,our room was very clean,nice comfy beds and we enjoyed the pool. would stay here again and hope to in the late fall or maybe around christmas time. It is is walking distance to a few things and thats a plus!!

Room was clean, and staff was helpful. Breakfast was great and well stocked. Staff helped us with the problems with the room, and had us use another adjoining room since our bathroom was unusable. Dehumidifier in the room was unusual. had to dump it twice.

We have stayed in BW before. We even have the rewards card. But this time our experience was not as rewarding. Room and staff were wonderful. We are in our 70's and sometimes have difficulty negotiating steps, expecially if they are small. We did not request a ground floor room, but we were given a 2nd floor room. Problem was this hotel does not have an elevator. I believe it is the first time we've stayed in a multiple floored hotel without an elevator. I went back to the front desk to see if we could get a 1st floor room, but one wasn't available. I am just glad we were able to go up and down the steps without falling. Probably will find other accomodations if we are in Bardstown again.

Very welcoming and clean pool and patio area. Comfortable beds and shower. Spacious breakfast area. They honored our request for a first floor room. We always seek out hotels with exterior doors when we are just stopping by for one night.

Wonderful stay We read the reviews on this motel and decided to give it a try. We enjoyed our stay here very much. Bed and pillows were as nice as a five star hotel. Room very clean. Our room was right outside the pool and had a little bistro table outside our door where we enjoyed coffee each morning. The pool was kept so clean. We met with other couples each night around the pool and was so relaxing. Everyone we met was so nice and you could tell everyone was enjoying their stay. The location is close to downtown area and convenient for everything. Breakfast was very good and the lady that takes care of it was very sweet. We never enjoy staying in a hotel that doesn't have any outdoor places to sit and we were pleasantly surprised to find this one met that need for us. Also daily room service which you don't find much anymore.

We had no idea where we were going so we stopped here and checked in. Great decision! Nice little hotel with a nice pool plus very nice people working that care for the place. I would stay again for sure.

Weve never stayed in a Sure Stay before and were delighted at how clean it was, great breakfast and friendly staff, not to mention the great outside seating area. If we are in the community again, we absolutely will stay there.

Room was clean, bed was comfortable and within walking distance of downtown. Hotel has updates, has a pool and free parking. Staff was wonderful. Breakfast was included, however, we found much better options available off property. I believe you get what you paid for.

Definitely recommend! Quaint town and very amazing hospitality! The room was very clean and the bed and pillows offered the best sleep I have had in a very long time!! The hot breakfast was good and the parking was great. Keep up the awesome work!

This hotel was much more than meets the eye. It doesn't look like much on the exterior when you arrive, but it was actually much nicer than was expected. Staff was friendly, rooms were very clean and well maintained. The property over all was in good condition. The bathroom had a bidet installed which was a surprise. Nice patio area out front that our group used during the evenings to unwind. There was also sitting areas in the rear of the property across from the pool. Breakfast has a good selection of hot/cold and quick options to enjoy and is located in the building at the rear of the property. Very roomy with plenty of tables. Hotel is in a great location and it's an easy walk to historic Bardstown or easy drive to many of the distilleries in the area. I would certainly stay here again and would recommend to others.

Walkable to many restaurants and local attractions. The room was very clean and very comfy beds, pool area is very nice and clean. Check in was a breeze. Check out the Stephen Foster restaurant right next door or if you need late night weekend food, Thompson minit mart right next day has their deli open late for walking taco or homemade fresh BLT.

I booked 3 rooms for out of town guests, some of them very picky. One of them has stayed here every time she has been in town and always asked to be booked there. This time she was joined by 5 other picky people and they all gave glowing reviews.

We were very disappointed with this motel. It was advertised as a Best Western Plus but fell far short and missed the mark of the quality of a Best Western motel. Our room was teeny tiny without extra space to store our luggage and also without a stuffed chair to sit on and relax. The bathroom was so small that you had to squeeze inside and then shut the door before you could use the toilet. The mattress on the beds were excessively soft and lumpy resulting in a terrible night's sleep and waking up with a nagging backache. The door to the outside was not a tight fit and light from the streetlights leaked in around the entire door. Definitely not a place to stay if you want to rest and get a good night's sleep..

Nice newly renovated rooms. Very clean, job well done. Would definitely stay for multiple nights to use as a base for doing the local distillery tours. Good location in walking distance to town's restaurants and shopping.

Everyone, from front desk to housekeeping to food service was very friendly and helpful. Good location, easy walk to downtown Bardstown. Room was clean. While not a luxury property, everything we needed was there.

We came on motorcycles for bourbon trail. Rooms were clean and simple. We did not want a high end hotel. Three blocks from food. Mammy's was great. A gathering place was located in the back. Perfect for our needs.

The rooms were very clean. Breakfast was included and they had a large variety to choose from. The staff was extremely friendly. There was a nice gazebo type building to sit outside under and get out of the rain.

Our room was large, had all amenities, clean and obviously well cared for - staff was VERY helpful, gave us a room suitable to handicap needs of my veteran hubby, and breakfast both hot and cold was just what we needed - thanks!

The staff is friendly and efficient. Convenient parking for easy access to one's room. The rooms have solid, clean surfaces and are well kept up. The breakfast room is monitored for cleanliness and supplies. Lots of options for a hearty and healthy breakfast.

Very clean and updated small town motel. Good breakfast and service. For the location and price, you can't beat this motel. The beds were very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good and large selection.

We've stayed at the General Nelson on a few occasions. We've had quiet stays with no issues. The breakfast was enjoyable. The office staff have a great service attitude. They are upgrading the rooms and the workers respect patrons hours. This SureStay is a sound, clean alternative to higher priced hotel chains in the Bardstown area.

It was a very nice stay. The rooms were large and clean, the beds comfortable. The pool was nice, the gentleman working the desk couldn't have been more friendly. I'd of given it a 5 star but the bathroom could use updating, and a little larger TV would be nice. If your looking to stay here you can't go wrong staying here.

The room was great - clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The problem was racket next door until 11:00 pm or later. Pounding, scraping, a ripping sound. I know they're remolding, but…but next door to guests and at night?? BUT we will give it a try next time in town

Room was covered in dust from construction. Very disgusting. Noise also came from outside street and next door room. Staff did nothing to help. Had to check out early as it was hard to breathe in room with construction dust.

We do apologize for any inconvenience. Our winter months is a time when we are able to make renovations to the property. As noted at the front desk upon check in our hours of renovation is 9:30am-6:30pm, in which during these hours it is a bit noisy and with construction can be dusty. . We strive to ensure each guest is happy. We do hope you give us another chance and return to our property!

They are remodeling the hotel so we got here the woman at the front desk was so nice. Our room was clean smelled nice and most importantly the beds and pillows were so comfy. The tv has a crystal clear picture it has direct tv. There is a nice fridge and microwave in the room a small coffee pot with decaf and caffeinated coffee the bathroom was big and clean and it was an overall great experience! They had a huge breakfast spread. Sausage, biscuits and gravy, eggs, muffins, bagels, yogurt, coffee, waffles, pancakes, cereal and more. Amber ran the breakfast was so helpful and everything was hot and fresh I highly recommend this hotel!!

Very clean and nice. Rooms are large with a big closet for hanging and ironing clothes. Staff is wonderful and nice. Only 1/2 mile to downtown so an easy walk. Next to a gas station that has great sandwiches and supplies if you run out. There was construction going on but we were told in advance about this so no problem at all. Will gladly stay here again.

During check in, I requested a room away from the 9 am to 5 pm construction. I'm working nights, so sleep is something important. Instead, I get a room that must be directly next to, above or something to a room that they're completely remodeling. It's been 5 hours of non stop saws, hammers, pounding. Bad enough that they're knocking nails out of the wall in my room. If this is customer service... well.. They need to be thankful I can't upload the videos

Extremely friendly reception. Some rooms are being renovated, but work stopped at 5. Room was big, nice, and very clean. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with many choices for vegetarian Location is close. to ovld downtown area

Stayed one night but loved the hotel! I requested a room in the back away from traffic and noise. They were very accommodating and room was very clean. They offered a full breakfast in the morning, waffles, pancakes, juices, cereal, eggs and sausage and fruit. Coffee was hot and delicious. Please consider staying here if your in Bardstown.. you won't be sorry!

We just needed a place for one night, at the beginning of the trip. We picked this hotel based on location and were very pleased. My main criteria now is == How Clean Is It? The room and bathroom were very clean. The lobby was nice. We ate breakfast at the hotel and it was good, not exceptional, but certainly served the purpose of easy.

Stayed here for 2 nights while visiting the Bourbon Trail. Very clean hotel with a surprise in the bathroom. Lovely outside area to gather. The pool was closed as was the breakfast room. Pricing is good for this motel and bedroom is fine. Bathroom is dated and needs updating. Light fixture in bathroom has a clear piece of plastic over it and there are dead bugs visible. Shower curtains and tub have seen better days.

Nice hotel. Clean with daily maid service. The hotel is not to far from town/shopping/restaurants . We have no issues during our stay. I recommend the restaurant next door to the hotel as well. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom so it can get hot in there real quick.

My wife and I booked a few nights last minute during this years Kentucky Bourbon Festival. We could not have been more pleased. The hotel is older but meticulously maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean and fresh. I have nothing but good to say. We are planning on making this an annual trip and we will be staying here every visit.

We stayed at Sure Stay September 16-17th. The rooms are small but clean with a mini fridge. They have a nice small pool that was very clean. There was a sitting area in front of our room where a lot of people would gather at night to enjoy a drink or smoke. The staff is very friendly and work hard. The location is great and within walking distance to some restaurants. It's an older style hotel but was very clean and the price was right!

Decent hotel (actually more like a motel with each room having its own outside entrance) in a great area close to several distilleries and downtown Bardstown. Room was clean (ours smelled a bit musty but nothing horrible) and a decent size. A pleasant surprise was the grab-n-go breakfast. The bag was filled with fairly healthy options and was more food than we needed (a banana, blueberry muffin, yogurt, bottled water and a granola bar). Staff was friendly and welcoming. This was a good value for the price.

Best Western was a good stay for our trip to Bardstown. It was fine for our stay in which we were going to be gone most of the day. Service was very good. It may not have all of the amenities as other places, but it was fine for us. There is a pool, and there is a grab-and-go breakfast. Not bad at all.

Pretty decent little hotel. It's actually more of a motel the way it's designed but the rooms are clean and everything is newer and works well. The pool was great! The “grab and go” breakfast was kind of a joke. The clerks put out paper bags in the office that have one apple, one granola bar, one small blueberry muffin and a bottle of water. No coffee other than what is supplied in your room. There's plenty of small restaurants and dinners around if you'd rather eat something else. Overall, it's not a bad little hotel.

We stayed here one night on our recent visit to Bardstown. The hotel was close to everything we wanted to do in Bardstown and we got our room for a very fair price. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The toilet even had a bidet which was quite a shock (but we didn't use it)! I would definitely recommend staying here.

This hotel is an excellent value for the price. Rooms were very clean, bathrooms recently remodeled, they even come with a bidet toilet seat. We really appreciated the daily room service, as most other hotels skip on service due to Covid. It's located a short 5 minute walk to downtown Bardstown, so you can hit the bars and restaurants and leave your car parked at the hotel.

I needed a quiet weekend alone to do some professional writing and the staff at Surestay filled every need and requirement to perfection. I was visiting my family for a long weekend. I chose this hotel because it was close to their house. Extremely satisfied, the shower was great. I have traveled a bit and many hotels have terrible showers mainly not enough water pressure. This one was great. Bed was very comfortable also. Will be back several more times this year am hoping they have rooms available

Great stay, the staff was friendly on check in and recommended a local restaurant for dinner which I am also giving 5 stars. very clean rooms, bathroom/dressing area very roomy. Beds were just right. I really have nothing negative to say. The reason I took 1 star is due to the carriage house being closed for breakfast, every restaurant in town is open including buffets (check out the stephen foster buffet behind the hotel yummy) there is no real reason for it to be closed and if it is, perhaps a discount on the rooms are in order due to the inconvenience, I planned breakfast to be included with my room price of $120.00 I could have gotten a room less expensive had I known that. One reason we chose this hotel was it did not say the breakfast was not available at this time as others did on the website. That was worth dinging one star for as I then had to pay $40 for breakfast (fast food restaurants are not convenient in the area) We will stay here again!

We have visited Bardstown many, many times over the years and have finally taken the time to stay in one of the hotels. This hotel has a small common-area out front that offers tables, chairs, and a great opportunity to socialize with visitors who have one common interest-Bourbon! We have managed to meet friendly people, stay in a hotel that feels secure, and get a good nights rest before a full day of shopping, eating, and touring. There is even a gas station next door that serves amazing breakfast sandwiches and wraps, along with deli sandwiches and burgers. Who knew a gas station would end up a must stop on our tour of Bardstown! Wonderful hotel in an excellent location.

Small and clean. In the perfect area if you are wanting to walk in town or go on bourbon tours. We had no problems with our stay. Would stay there again. The pool wasn't opened yet and not serving breakfast because of covid but did have to go bags to grab.

The SureStay hotel had nice, comfortable beds, and the room was quite clean. My husband and I liked the outside entrance to our room, especially in these pandemic times. Close to the old, downtown area of Bardstown, it was in easy walking distance to the restaurants and shops we wished to visit. When we checked in, the management was friendly and helpful. I would come back to this hotel if I was visiting Bardstown in the future.

Stayed here for almost 2 weeks straight during ice storms for work-related purposes. Owner was very accommodating and while we had a few miscommunications, he was always willing to work things out, even came out when I called at 1:30 in the morning. The rooms are clean and have every basic essential comfort and as you're within walking distance of a 24-hour food mart, it's very easy to get everything you need to bunker down for a week or two. Never used room service but saw the staff in passing; they greeted me warmly. Would stay here again. If my job was lucrative enough to warrant, I'd consider living here as a permanent guest. Only reason it's not a 5-star review is I'm a sucker for secure Wi-Fi but for the low prices it's a trade-off well worth it.

Stayed here while we were visiting My Old Kentucky Home. The price couldn't be beat and the location was very walkable to the town's restaurants and bars. Updated room had a nice television, USB charging station, and clean bathrooms. Bonus? They have a bidet in the bathroom! Didn't expect that. Friendly staff one check in, Definitely would stay again.

This place is a dump. The rooms are dirty. Housekeeper not cleaning corners. Dirty sheets and towels left in room from previous guest. Very noisy. This is in regards to the response from the owner on my last review of this hotel Mel S "SCAMMER" I most certainly did stay at this hotel and yes we did have a $59.99 rate which in your comment you said you didn't have that rate. I kindly took a picture of the website with a $59.99 rate. I never said the gentlemen worked front desk. The gentlemen I was referring to in my last comment was the owner himself. He is the one who told me to get out. This hotel is charging 20% tax which in Bardstown Kentucky in Nelson County the hotel tax is 10.24%. I know this because I called another hotel to ask how much hotel tax was in bardstown area. Oh by the way I have spoke to corporate and it is being investigated. I warn you travelers DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. He is ripping you off!!

We stayed at this hotel over the weekend and the rate was $59.99 per night but when I got my receipt I was charged way too much tax. Bardstown hotel tax is 10.24% which I should have been charged $130.08 instead I was charged $141.60. That's 20% tax. He is ripping you off. When I asked about the additional charge he told me to get out....DO NOT RENT A ROOM AT THIS HOTEL!!!!! He isn't allowed to do this and yes I am calling corporate.

We have stayed at this Hotel 3 years in a row and each year we visit we are greeted by a great and friendly staff. We have never had any issues. The Hotel is very well kept even during this covid 19 pandimic. The pool was open and pool staff stopped and had friendly discussions with our group

We came into Bardstown for a wedding of a family member (and a local from KY) and stayed at the Surestay by Best Western and had an amazing time! The rooms were clean, the complimentary breakfast was phenomenal (so much variety and fresh). The staff was so sweet and helpful! The beds were my favorite part! SO comfy! Lastly it's literally walking distance from “downtown” Bardstown (and 5 mins from a Walmart so just in case you need something!)

The hotel and grounds were very clean!! Nice location and price. Will be staying again!! Breakfast area was clean and everyone was very nice and friendly. Check in and out was easy! When we checked in we were shown a map of all the sites in the area.

This isn't your typical BW but not much else in town looked any nicer. The room was clean, small, simple. Although the room is cramped it did have a nice “easy chair”. An electrical outlet next to our bed was broken so the bedside lamp could not be turned on. For one night it was fine but surely not the caliber of rooms that are usually provided at Best Western hotels. The biggest negative was that there is no elevator and we had to lug our suitcases upstairs to our second floor room. They do have a detached “east” wing which is one level and you can park right in front of your room. If you can, request a room in that location or at least a lower level room. The breakfast room is in a large hall designed for meetings or special events. However it consists of several large round tables so you sit with other people. It was generally ok but awkward for others from I could see. We had a nice conversation with a couple from Ohio so the seating does encourage socializing with other patrons about one's travels.

Charming town within walking distance, several bourbon distilleries easily reachable by car. Several places to eat in town. Rooms very comfortable, especially the beds. Good shower, ample hot water. Little noise off the road in the rooms at the front.

Great hotel, convenient to down town, restaurants and ofcourse distillery. Easy to get to, also you can avoid Louisville Traffic, which is also close by. Parking for a truck size vehicle is easy there. Also, your vehicle will be close to your room. I will be stay there again.

Very nice and clean. Only complaint is when we turned on the air conditioner it smelled musty/smell cleared up after running for awhile. Great sitting area out front, front desk service awesome. Shower head could be higher for taller people.

We've visited the area twice in the last 4 months, for the distillery tours, and have stayed here both times. We love the large, very clean rooms with the comfy furniture and beds. The cleaning staff is the best, stopping by every morning to make sure you have everything you need. The grounds are very well manicured and it's quiet, especially the rooms around back by the pool. The breakfast is delicious and is overseen by Amanda, who says “Good Morning” to everyone thru the door, is constantly refreshing the breakfast items and just staying busy making sure everything is perfect and is a world of info on fun things to do in the area. We have fallen in love with Bardstown and are close enough to make it a regular destination and we're very thankful to have found this Best Western Surestay as our home away from home!!

We have stayed here 3 times in the last 10 years. This time the bathrooms had been updated. The beds were comfortable and we loved the nostalgic feel of the place. Breakfast was ok, but aren't most included breakfasts? Great place for the money.

Everything went well. Great location for the bourbon trail. It is walking distance to historic Bardstown. Everything from the speakeasy to German food was fantastic. We tried to get into Talbots and the Rick house, but didn't make reservations. Great place! We would go back for sure.

Stayed one night on the way down to Nashville with some friends. The room was clean and quiet, with comfortable beds and the water pressure was fantastic in the shower. Convenient dressing area for privacy outside the bathroom but not in the bedroom. Location is close to many distilleries on the Bourbon trail. Front desk was friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast was just large enough with good options.

We stayed here while on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. This motel is 2 stories, outdoor entrances (which is not usually my pick). It offers a seasonal pool and a decent breakfast selection. The room itself was clean, the bed comfortable. The bathroom was very small, but decent.

how clean it is--this place was extremely clean. There were a few spots that could use some work but for the most part it was very well kept big, fat, fluffy pillows and lots of them--YES an abundance of 100% cotton towels--okay they were 85/15 but did the job and there were plenty of them attentive & pleasant personnel--definitely! Folks seemed to go out of their way to be nice. The "server" in the breakfast area greeted everyone on arrival and departure and checked w/ folks about their breakfast. Details: standard issue motel w/ clean, well appointed rooms (desk, chair, fridge, microwave, lots of outlets), great location if visiting Bardstown (a short walk to downtown), easy parking, free WI-FI, standard hotel breakfast (frozen egg "patties", sausage, & biscuits; cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, gcod coffee, juices, make your own waffles...... Note: the hotel fronts a busy road w/ lots of truck traffic so it is noisy all night. And the smoking/outside gathering area is directly in front of the hotel so if you want some privacy request a room on the back side of the hotel.

From Check-in to Check-out, all the staff was welcoming and service oriented. Our family was asked on more than one occasion, if there was anything a staff member could do to assist us. Staff placed towels in front of AC units to prevent drainage from running to door of each room.

Manager was un-accommodating, not willing to help; room was not cleaned when stayed 3 nights; loud AC; flies in the room; lousy coffee & rubbery flat eggs; ice machine would not produce for a full ice bucket; desk clerk very rude; street side room noisy; tub/shower had no mat or non-skid floor, felt unsafe..... choose another place!

Clean, quite, comfortable, what more do you need. Good location in town with easy onsite parking. They also offer a coin op washer and dryer that comes in very handy after a week or so on the road in the heat. Overall this is a place to mark for any return needs. I think a good value.

Very friendly welcome and we were able to check in at 1pm. Rooms clean and modern with some nice touches. Good quality linens and towels, powerful shower, good wifi and refrigerator. Bathroom a bit dated. Ice available near reception. Hotel has a nice clean pool area, with sunbeds and towels. Breakfast had good hot and cold options, and a fantastic lady running it. Overall excellent value, fantastic staff and very very well maintained.

the motel is older but reasonable for it's price point. One disappointment, my fellow traveler's smoke alarm started beeping, presumably for a bad battery, at 3:00 a.m. The morning clerk did not offer any sort of adjustment for his poor night's sleep - disappointing. The free breakfast was comparable to what you will find at a Fairfield Inn.

Room was clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable. The location was convenient, the distilleries and restaurants were all close. Breakfast was ok--the typical hotel offering. Staff were friendly. The patio was nice. Would stay here again.

We stayed at the Bardstown Best Western Sure Stay for one night. The motel was easy to find. The check in was quick and easy and we were able to get into our room ahead of time. The motel is two story with no elevator, only stairs. We were on the second floor, located on the street side. The motel is non smoking but there is an area in front for the smokers. The room appeared to be somewhat remodeled with two queen beds, dish tv, mini refrigerator and microwave. The room was very clean. There was a swimming pool in the back of the hotel which looked inviting but we didn't use it. The motel offers a free breakfast in the morning. The motel does not have a restaurant. There is a buffet type restaurant located close by but otherwise there is a party store/gas station to buy some drinks and limited food. There are several distilleries a short distance away. What we were disappointed about was that most of the nice restaurants were closed on a Sunday afternoon/evening and so were the cute shops downtown. Would we return to the Bardstown Best Western Sure Stay? Yes, we would but we would visit on any other day than Sunday and we would request a room away from the smoking area.

I haven't stayed at a Best Western in years making me a little nervous but there aren't many options in BARDSTOWN. I was pleasantly surprised with the updated and clean rooms. The location was great and the free breakfast was hearty. Great value

The facility has been completely refurbished and the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The location is convenient to many of the sights in the Bardstown area. The staff are efficient and very friendly. Great place!

Ok, maybe not the best hotel in the world, but the staff was very friendly and it is a short walk to downtown. The breakfast was so-so. I've stayed here before when riding down on my motorcycle. The staff was very biker friendly.

Rooms were clean, right beside Stephen Foster Restaurant, and close to downtown Bardstown, which is a pretty little town and busy. Nice breakfast room and variety of foods for breakfast. Hostess in breakfast area very helpful and friendly. Everything was very nice during our stay here in July 2019.

We have stayed at this motel in the past when it was a Best Western at that time had gone down, now under new ownership as a Sure Stay by B W, owner is bring thing more update, rooms had been remodeled and new furnishings, the parking lot was well lit with new led lightning, motel has swimming pool and a large eating area, the quality of breakfast items could have been better,my opinion, no smoking in rooms,can have pets at extra charge per night, great location to downtown, walking distance,staff was very friendly.

Internet kept kicking my wife and I off the internet. We would have to sign in about every 5 - 6 minutes. Pleased with everything overall especially since we had never heard of a Sure Stay and we stay with Best Western on 90% of our trips.

The hotel has outside entrances to rooms right off parking lot which is nice to load and unload car. I was greeted warmly immediately and check-in was fast and imformative. They do have a gazebo where you can sit and relax or if you smoke you can get out of the sun. My king room came equipped with a leather rocker/recliner and work desk with outlets. The bathroom was a little small but other than that I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bardstown. You are less than a mile from Historic downtown.

Stayed here out of necessity, as nothing else was available. We figured out pretty quickly why this still had available rooms. When checking in I noticed a tv on the wall next to the front desk. It was scrolling through pics of the hotel/motel...which was fine, as I thought it was a LIVE security camera feed...until it showed pics of a bathroom and bedroom!? Whhhhaaaa???? The front desk person assured me (after I gasped and asked him WTH?) it was not a live feed, simply pics of the hotel. Whew! Thank God! Our room, at first, was what I expected from an inexpensive motel...musty, stale smoke odors, the usual bedding, tv and small bathroom. But upon closer inspection, there was black filth and dead (and a couple of live) bugs around the base of the toilet. Through out the night and into the next morning, we noticed even more bugs...alive and dead. The carpet was so nasty, it turned the bottom of my feet black when I walked across it without shoes! The window overlooked the pool area, so tried closing the curtains but the A/C kept blowing them apart. I had to clasp them together with a hair clip. Ughhh!!! Honestly, could not wait to get out of here!

Breakfast was very good! AC unit in the room was a life saver in the 90+ degree weather. Pool was nice to dip in after a hot day in the sun. Bed was very soft & comfortable. Separate "dressing" area outside of the bathroom was nice to have. I wish the bathroom had some type of fan. Bathroom and Shower were a bit cramped but Shower pressure was good and stayed hot for a long time. Good value if your looking for a basic motel room.

The BW SureStay General Nelson in Bardstown KY is one of the best options for overall satisfaction factoring location, price, breakfast, and room features. They have a pool, pavilion, patio, etc. for out side relaxation. Quiet and close the action and most importantly a great location for being able to choose touring of at least 18 distilleries!

The furnishings in the room have been recently updated and look like a regular Best Western. Free breakfast includes a good variety of hot and cold choices. Property was clean. Some of the rooms face the road, but the ones in the back face the pool. The Stephen Foster Restaurant (all day buffet) is right next door.

We are touring the bourbon trail and used this as a home base. Went to the Civil War museum and their village, took a dinner train ride and toured two distillery's. Was a great centrally located facility.

Older hotel that's been updated. The room was very clean and quiet, and there were lots of people there when we stayed. Friendly helpful staff. Nice buffet style restaurant right next door. The free hotel breakfast was great and there was an attendant present to help and restock so everything was fresh!

great location! Sheets were a little rough but bed was pretty comfortable. Ice machine/vending in need good cleaning. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Overall we were satisfied for a one nights stay.

The location is about an 8 minute walk to the centre of town so it made it easy to go sample bourbons and stroll back rather than having to worry about driving. Will definitely stay here again if I find myself 8n Bardstown.

We were always greeted with a Good Morning or Hello whenever we met someone on the staff. Very friendly and pleasant place to stay. In the middle of all the places we wanted to visit. Pleased we stayed with them.

Clean grounds with well lighted parking lot. Easy walk to downtown taverns and restaurants. Room clean and linens fresh and bright. Breakfast typical motel style. An attendant on hand to replenish items as necessary keeping hot items fresh. Good stay and would use again.

Great Hotel. Clean, comfortable, and the staff is very kind. Very good for the price. Many discounts for military or others. Best place in Bardstown to stay and they have a very nice pool area. Quiet and very relaxing.

We arrived in Bardstown late in the afternoon and snagged a room. It was very nice and clean, the TV was huge, the shower had great water pressure and temperature, and we really enjoyed the breakfast in the back entertainment room! The only concern we had was the room faced the road and we were concerned it would impact our sleep ~ it didn't, though.

For Derby weekend, it was fairly priced, but way too far to travel to Louisville. What you see is what you get. Beds are more comfortable than they look. Nice to have a refrigerator in the unit. Front office needs a little help.

This hotel was reasonably priced and perfectly located to visit local distilleries on the Bourbon Trail. Breakfast was free and very good as well with a variety of breakfast selections. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Nice economical place to stay if you are doing the Bourbon Trail. Rooms are clean and seem to be recently renovted. Its an older place and they jave really tried to update it. Breakfast was ok, very typical of free breakfast. Ask for a room on the backside. The street side is very noisey as well as connecting rooms. We heard every word the ladies in the room next to us said.

One of the few places where everything seems to work well. Check in was speedy and we parked right outside our room it being then very easy to unload the cases. The room was spacious and clean with modern decoration. The bed large and comfy but high off the floor. The bathroom had quality toiletries and a clean shower curtain with powerful shower. I thought the road noise would be a problem but it did not disturb us at all. Breakfast was great with good quality items and a wide choice of hot and cold options. Great value and friendly staff and for a pleasant stay.

Clean, nice breakfast, dog friendly- Gave us a room at end of building, close to grass area. Just down the street a large community park, lots of room to walk dogs, very safe area. Staff recommender mice restaurant close by, Mammy's excellent local cuisine

Made my annual visit to bardstown for my wife's birthday. We also brought her twin and her boyfriend. Check in and went to pay with cash and they made us pay 100 deposit something we hadn't had to do before. The rooms were large had a fridge and microwave USB ports coffee ironing board. Bathroom was fully stocked and there was a lot of storage space. Overall a pleasant stay

Awesome service and the cleanest rooms around. Free breakfast and good beds what else could you ask for. New flooring and fixtures just ads to it. Also if you have a firestick like i do they have strong wifi ao i feel like i am at home.

Charged on wrong card went back to desk to explain, she said im sorry but I don't know how to fix it. I will need to call for help. Twenty minutes later, she said it will be okay I promise it may take 24 hrs. Went back to room to check. I now have a charge on two bank accounts. Stayed for 2 nights got home checked my accounts, now I have 2 charges on one account 1 charge on the other. Called back to hotel got Shelia again, she says im sure it will be taken care of but I will have the Manager Jack call you in the morning. Jack called end result he said we do this to everybody.

Our room was updated and very nice. The bathroom and room were clean and staff was friendly. The breakfast was normal for a "free" breakfast. I didn't except much from this little hotel. It was an older and I was really pleased with the upgrades. I would come back again.

My son and I stayed at the General Nelson Inn. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and efficient. The hotel building is dated, but the rooms (bathroom and items like clocks and lamps with USB ports, flat screen TV, etc) were all updated. There is a large dressing room outside the bathroom, adding much more overall space to the room. The breakfast was sufficient with some hot options along with continental items. Will definitely stay there next time we go to Bardstown, it is right in the middle of town!!

Excellent rate. Newly refurbed rooms and fantastic location. Had it not been cold we could have walked to the cute little downtown area of town. Great for bourbon trail trip! Its converting to a Holiday Inn I believe.

Rooms are great but beds sit high.We drink a lot of coffee and have to beg for more. Loved the flooring not being carpet keeps germs way down. Wasn't happy that everyone who stayed during Christmas wasn't told no breakfast on that day. Had service dog staying with us and was charged for a deposit which was informed it's against federal law but still was charged. Otherwise we loved this hotel. It's a shame that it's being bought out.

This hotel is conveniently located. The prices are always good and the rooms are clean. They have a fridge and microwave as well. There is free breakfast though this time I did not think it was very good.
