The Best Western is a decent hotel in Bad Lippspringe next to a wonderful park. - the pool unfortunately is too small for a pleasant swimming experience - the breakfast was one of the highlights - as BW Gold member, we got a room facing the park which was another highlight as we had a great sleep and a wonderful wake up experience
The most wonderful and quiet location you could wish for. Settled just nearby the lovely “Kur Park” with fountains, flowers and the loveliest walks. Hotel is renovated, and feels almost as new. You can always discuss the choice of design and color - but that is a matter of taste. Staff is so helpful and kind, and the in-house restaurant “Karl” serves very good food. On top of it all, you have a large outdoor bar/café and partly restaurant area, with views of the park. There is also indoor swimming pool and spa – which we didn't use, so no review of that here. A few remarks: the breakfast is good, with a fine variety of food, however: we're in Germany, home of brilliant bread, so we were a bit surprised to see that the bread rolls did not seem totally day fresh and crispy. Please correct me, if I am wrong. Please note (if you are going in the hottest days of the summer) there is no air condition. We slept with window and door partly open, and that worked for us. But in that case, it is nice to have a room upstairs. And please note that the rooms are cleaned every second day - not on a daily basis. As for “what to see”, there are many possibilities: The town of Bad Lippspringe is only a few steps away, with both several river springs, (Lippequelle) the Castle Ruin, Arminius park and close by several beautiful places of interest: the Externsteine cliffs, castles, the train viaduct in Altenbeken (the biggest train viaduct in Europe made of stone), the town of Paderborn with a huge cathedral and lovely town square (Dom Platz) and in good weather the “LWL-Open-Air Museum Detmold” (LWL Freilichtmuseum Detmold), beautifully settled in rural landscapes, with original old houses, villages and even a complete 60es gas station. And as said before: Best Western Premier Park Hotel & Spa in Bad Lippspringe, makes a great stay for all these activities, with a top staff both in hotel and at the front desk.
Hotel is great all staff very friendly. Rooms clean & spacious. Food excellent. Service in the bar can be quite slow. Pool in Leisure centre is tiny. Surrounding area is lovely lots nice resturaunts Would definetly reccomend for families.
Hotel is located at edge of Kaiser Karl's park so there is a lovely view from terrace bar and restaurant. Hotel recently refurbished. Outdoor freshwater pool is amazing to swim in. Food is good (little more expensive than local restaurants and service is a little slow). Generous selection for breakfast. Best place to stay in town.
Generally speaking it is a nice hotel, clean, wide rooms and well equipped Restaurant is definitely good considering German standards Personnel is kind and competent Unfortunately I could not access the swimming pool and the sauna area, but I was told by guests that they are fine Black spot: shower in my room 204 was run over and unusable
This is a nice hotel. From the outside the spa and sauna area seemed to have a nice standard. The rooms are clean, but without any atmosphere at all. The spa is probably a 4, and the rooms 3/average. Service is friendly and the fitness are fine.
Every year I am staying two three times in this hotel. Always clean, quite, smiling staff. They renovated some rooms, well designed. The restaurant of hotel Karl Restaurant perfect in meat courses. The garden in front of hotel is lovely. But it was more better with flyovers with previous design. You may have romantic walkaround in the forest. Best option in the region.
In the area of the SPA, the user is supposed to be naked below his bathrobe. Even the jacuzzi is in the SPA area! I checked on the website of the hotel. Contrary to what I was told during the check out, the "bereich ohne textil" is not mentioned on the website. The reservation for massages is not treated by the reception. It's up to the customer to do it by email. We sent an email to the SPA. There was no answer. It was once there that we learned that there was no more room for us! An answer to our email would have a minimal courtesy. Were we informed correctly that we would have canceled our reservation.
The hotel is in a very nice location (at the edge of a very nice park), though it is not very far to walk to the town. The staffs were really helpful and friendly to give us the room for the instrument practice for the next day's competition (luckily got a prise in the competitio, thank you for the little help!!). We had a very nice and comfortable stay for 2 nights, and would certainly recommend this hotel!
The location is great, good outside terras, rooms are great, clean as one may expect of an hotel like this. Dining traditional/regional inspired food one can appreciate or not. Not really my cup of tea, and I would expect a broader choice. Breakfast was god, sufficient choice.
Spent 6 days there whilst working in Germany. This time I used the pool, jacuzzi and saunas, they were fine, I particularly liked the steam room with menthol fumes in it and a swim at 7.30 am is invigorating. The hotel was a great base to allow me to eat and drink in the variety of good or excellent restaurants in the town. I walked out round the town and on some wooded tracks and country areas which were delightful (if that's your thing). The outside restaurant and bar were an asset but the drink was a bit expensive. All in all a really good stay.
Stayed at this hotel for 2 days. Very nice room, nothing fancy, but fine. Visited the spa once and this was very nice. The breakfast is really delicious. Unfortunately the park was closed due to renovation, but I guess it will be very beautiful in the summer time. Would choose this hotel again if I am ever in Paderborn again
A racist waistress of the restaurant didn't allow me to seat at a table, pretexting they were all reserved. There was plenty of room available. The waistress didn't apologize or anything. She had a stern look on her face, as if she was very displeased to see me. She told me I could sit in the bar area, in a corner table out of view of the restaurant. When I left an hour later there was still plenty of tables available. It was nothing but discrimination, either because of my origin or because of my physical appearance. I was alone on a business trip and I only wanted to have a meal. Instead I was treated like a parriah.
only this feature in this hotel, maybe my bad luck when i visit this hotel there is renovation works inside and outside of the hotel , the main gate in the side of the hotel, the room in the end of the 1st floor also the bed is getting noise uncomfortable, when I informed the reception team they told me must left from the room before 12 pm and wait until 3 pm .... why that ??? I have problem ... !!!!
We arrived here and the hotel is undergoing renovation, it is a bit dated but the room was very comfortable and I'm sure once it's redone it should be very nice. The breakfast buffet was very good and very expansive.
This hotel looks fabulous on-line and parts of it really are, but when you pull up, you have this sinking feeling like, I've been had. It turns out to be very nice but you enter along construction fences and weave your way through the breakfast buffet area, down a hall with somewhat dated carpet, through a green-house feeling connector and then you find the reception sort-of along the wall. Admittedly, they are renovating, and what is finished is very nice, but it still felt like, "I am paying what for one night here???". The layout is confusing, even with directions from the staff. We wound up driving down a walkway (with many stares ensuing) and having to circle through the village due to a combination of obscure directions, construction detours, and inaccurate signs. Once we found our way to our room in the "villa" area, we were quite pleased. It is a more modern building and not under construction. The attached spa area is quite lovely, though also hard to find the reception area when entering from the Villa side. One key thing that would make the spa area better would be to limit it to adults or children over the age of 12. (while relaxing in the pool, I was drenched on three occasions by a rather rotund 7-8 yr old boy doing massive cannonballs into the pool. It is not a very large pool and with three women casually swimming along, it was completely inappropriate. I have two boys, I am not insensitive when it comes to kids. This was ridiculous though and not at all what I expect in a "spa" pool. The grandfather was probably more to blame for not handling it, but small, loud children and spa usually do not go well together.). Our villa room was spacious, well appointed and had very comfortable beds. The tea and coffee in the room was appreciated. My only "complaint" regarding the rooms is that the toiletries are on par for a 2 star hotel, not a 4 star "spa and resort." I realize that sounds completely petty, however, as it was a "spa hotel and resort" I purposefully did not bring shampoo and conditioner, lightening my bag, expecting good quality toiletries in the rooms. Not only is there just a single product-generic body wash/shampoo mounted in the shower, the lotion is also a very watery, low quality. We went to dinner with hair full of static-certainly not a big problem, but again for almost 170 euro a night, for a hotel in a small village, I just expected the standard of a four star hotel across the board. Breakfast was very nice. It includs standard German breakfast items of breads, cheeses, lunch meats, smoked salmon, tomatoes, cucumbers, fruit, yogurt, musli and hard boiled eggs, but also offers fresh (make your own) waffles, fresh squeezed (squeeze yourself) orange juice, sekt, scrambled eggs, good bacon and a tea station. The buffet is well tended to and the staff is very attentive on the floor as well. The fitness area is one of the better ones we have come across in a hotel and the relaxation spaces in the spa were plentiful and very nice. All in all, I would recommend the hotel and would return but would request a lower rate during the construction and would bring a decent shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion.
Stayed here for 4 nights. This wasn't our first choice but the original hotel made a mistake and didn't book is in. The hotel is nice enough but it is currently having large amounts of building work done and it happened to be right outside my room! I was woken up before 7.30 every morning due to cement trucks/trucks arriving. It was very loud including the beds vibrating when the workmen were drilling! Not want you want when you've gone away for a relaxing break! I requested to swap rooms but this was not possible. There us also a large park behind the hotel but this was completely closed as the hotel gardens were being rebuilt. Again this was a disappointment and also for the views - every side of the hotel seems to have huge amounts of building works. The room was ok, quite spacious. Mini bar was a rip off as usual. Although my bed was made every day, none of the tea or toiletries were re socked during my 4 night stay. I had to collect more tea bags from the lobby. The pool was ok. Seemed to be heated in the morning but was quite cold by the evening. Also very small. Couldn't really get more then 4 people swimming in there comfortably. The spa area was ok. I appreciate that the Germans go naked into the saunas but seemed a bit inappropriate to use the jacuzzis naked. Bit off putting for non Germans/ younger people, especially if couples are in there together. Needless to say we didn't use the jacuzzi again after this. The breakfasts were ok. We had dinner in the hotel one night which again was ok. Would have expected a higher standard for a 4* hotel. The wifi was generally ok although it always seems to go off outside the room for me. A huge disappointment is that the hotel charges you 5€ per day to park your car which is absolute ridiculous considering they have plenty of spaces and don't share it with anyone else. Very unfair! The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. They were probably the best thing about the hotel. Our trip was tainted by the hotel mix up which obviously wasn't an issue with this hotel but I wouldn't pay this amount to come here again. Maybe if we had come without all the building works going on I may have enjoyed my stay more. The hotel should not book people into the rooms directly next to the building site.
I am in Germany on business and decided to spoil myself a bit with a few luxury services. On arrival I was put in a room overlooking a building sight, I was told there were no other rooms available when I asked to be moved. I explained that I would get my company to move me too a new hotel. Ten minutes later I was given a new room! A beer that normally costs €1.80 was being sold for €4.40 at the hotel, now I like beer very much but not when I'm getting ripped off. I couldn't access the Wi FI, i even called my company's IT help line and they couldn't access it either, I eventually got connected the next morning, but I'd lost working time by then. The food though well presented was, by German standards, mediocre and it was expensive. The bar was practically empty both nights, I'm not surprised at the prices they charge! When I cancelled the rest of my stay and settled my bill I found I had to pay €5 pre day for parking! I think they assume because they charge more it makes them more exclusive - it doesn't, it just makes them unacceptably expensive. I never bothered with the spas or pools, I was too deflated by then. ALL of the staff were very friendly and proffesional, especially the young ladies at the reception?? The hotel needs to rethink its strategy,, broaden its appeal and give value for money.
Spent 2 nights in April in this Hotel. We had a brand new furnished room on the first floor facing the parking/entrance. Very spacious even with a additional bed. Very comfortable beds. Breakfast wit ha very good selection . Great Service checking in, at the spa, breakfast and bar. Spa area very nice, used mainly the pool and steambath. Would definitely stay here again.
I was there for a week and a half on business. The rooms are very clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff is very helpful and almost everyone speaks English. The restaurant at the hotel was very good and reasonably priced. A breakfast buffet was included and had an excellent variety of meats, breads, fruits and cereals. The grounds are being totally redone, however as is much of the town because they are hosting some sort of big garden show in 2017 and they are preparing for it with major upgrades. There are also many nice restaurants within walking distance.
Stayed here for 4 nights with 3 children a husband and a dog in a " family " room which was way to small with no where near enough space but a clean and friendly hotel, the food in the restaurant could be altered a bit to suit children but my 12 year old enjoyed steak every single night as there wasn't much else to choose from, the pool was nice and with 3 rowdy boys people and staff were very tolerant , we had a nice stay but I wouldn't return , the car park is 5 euros a day to park which in my opinion is crazy and they are having major works done outside the front ( building houses / flats ) so noisy and busy with lorries and behind is even worse with works there not due to finish until 2017 I think it said so no lie in if your facing the rear of the hotel
I have stayed at this hotel on previous occasions and felt now was the time to review. The grounds are stunning and very quiet, the rooms are split between the main building and an annex block. All of the rooms are to a good standard and clean. There are pushbikes to hire which is a great way to see the local area. The spa is very good and offers a wide selection of treatments. Food is by way of a hot buffet or al a carte both are good. The staff in the hotel and at all the nearby restaurants either speak English or will supply you with an English menu. Lots to see and do well worth a visit
An excellent hotel with superb amenities whether for business or leisure. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The language barrier was none existant as the majority of staff spoke several languages. The rooms were well laid out and the amenities were well laid out in a friendly manner. Also the hotel had english TV channels BBC 1 BBC 2, ITV, IV2 and ITV 4. The hotel backed on to the local botanical gardens - this time of the flowers are well in bloom.
Lovely hotel in a lovely town. Good (but not excellent) buffet breakfast. We did not try the dining. We liked the sauna and pool. Free to residents with towels and robes. Spa treatments are sensibly priced. Ideal location facing public gardens and a short easy walk into the town.
I have stayed there 3 times since 2009 for business trips. The last staying was in June 2015,. Great relaxing atmosphera ,stunning park, great SPA and outdoor pond,Spaciouse rooms with not very modern but convinient furniture.,WI-FI was strong,TV has BBC channel ,It is possible to get good espresso around the clock using the coffee mashines located in the hotel's halls .The breakfast .was generally good but as for me the range of vegetables has to be extended, Threre are different options of room selection. But the best choice is to book room with park view and balcony It is great to wake up with stunning park view hearing bird's singing,
The Hotel is immaculate, spacious and peaceful. Reflects typical German efficiency in every respect. Staff are efficient, polite and very helpful, the rooms are clean and functional and WiFi is brilliant throughout the Hotel. I have started at the Hotel a number of times on business but stayed for the first time in the extension of the property and the rooms were first class. If looking for accommodation in the Area I would recommend it - Spa and Gym and wonderful gardens to walk around.
