Avoid this hotel and rather pay a little more for another. Late airport pickup. Arrogant reception who try to impose T&C that you did not sign up for....refused to take pre 2013 USD, imposed a cancellation policy not part of the agreement online Noise all day from construction.
INCREDIBLY bad service specially at the reception. Room and bathroom need more attention. Towels they provided had a giant visible hole but for some strange reason they thought it was ok Saw a lot of roaches at the bar Though a beachfront, the beach is grossly disgusting with human feces wrapped in black plastic bag STAY AWAY!!!
This hotel is located on the beach with wonderful coconut trees everywhere and that is a major plus. There is no lift, so you have to carry your luggage up the stairs. Customer service is the worse I have encountered in a hotel. The front desk person was sleeping when we were checking out. People gave us conflicting information about breakfast timing, and no one seemed truly knowledgeable about anything related to the hotel, I could never get a straight answer. Finally, there were several roaches around the bar area and one in my room including ants that though relatively harmless and were just making their way towards the balcony, spoke volumes about their lack of upkeep of the hotel. The rooms were dusty and I didn't feel comfortable walking on the bare floor without shoes on. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Beautiful location but horrible rooms and customer service.
Our stay at the Best Western Plus Accra Beach Hotel could not have been better. From the greeting at check in, the over the top service each and every day, we were treated with such gracious hospitality. The bar and restaurant were our nighty dinner choice. The menu offers a wide selection and all was prepared exactly to order. Our server Gifty made us feel like family, The pool and outdoor seating area were a great respite during our rare down time.
The food is very great, staff is friendly, rooms are very neat. Beautiful ocean view. Internet in the rooms is terrible rooms.
Spent some days at the hotel which is a bit far from the business district but was very delighted with the experience. The hotel offers a great ocean view with the ships and a rig . At night you see all the lights on the ships and its such a beautiful sight. Th port is in view and it it well lit up at night. there is also a view of the local canoes of the fishermen.
the grilled tilapia tasted great.. had the best taste of local Ghanian foods ever. The chef was on hand to explain the spices to me.. he was of great help. I had waakye too. it tasted good. The swimming pool was very clean all the time and i enjoyed sun bathing
My fiancée and I stayed for 2 weeks previously. I enjoyed this hotel very much. I'm always asking my fiancée to book again but he wasn't as satisfied as I. We've returned there to pay and swim several times whenever I'm on holiday. This particular visit I'd asked to go swimming. It stormed, pouring rain. We spent money eating lunch and on cocktails. My fiancée left to pick up a few things at the market filling my request. I chose to stay at BW plus and wait while continuing to purchase libations. Becoming concerned I asked the front desk if I could use their wifi password to get in touch with him? I was told not once but twice I wasn't a registered guest and they refused to share with me. I had no way of contacting him. I was on holiday from the USA, knew no one, was the only caucasian in the room. I felt so alone, alienated. I will not be asking to return to this BW.
I loved this hotel. It is right on the beach. You can eat while looking out on the ocean. The food is very good. There is a big screen TV in the lobby where we watched the Champions League match. The service at the front desk and the bar is excellent. The shuttle drivers are very, very good also. One of the shuttle drivers was my personal driver for a day and he took me everywhere in Accra and was really friendly.
We had a great time here! We liked the location, a couple miles from the downtown area, right on the beach, which unfortunately looks good only from a distance, due to the mounds of garbage there that wash down from the gutters during storms. On a bright note, from the comfort of the pool, the ocean looks great. A note about getting around in Accra: something that looks close on a map may be a long drive in reality, on account of the traffic and road conditions. The Nungua area is interesting for strolling around in, especially for someone like me who had never been to Africa before, but it's a good half-hour drive (at least) to Osu downtown, even though it's less than ten miles (15 km) Oh, the hotel! The service was genuinely friendly and accommodating, the food and bar was good (although they were low on African bitters), the room was comfortable, the breakfast buffet was huge (African and western food, including fresh locally-grown fruit, juice, and coffee every day), and to repeat, the pool area was lovely. What more could you ask for? It's not luxurious, but I found it very comfortable. Tip: since it's a hotel, the food and drink prices are high, by Ghanian standards. There's a bar and grill literally two doors down which also has friendly service and good food, for less.
I like the environment, the activities, the breakfast and the attendance, the atmosphere was lively and I always feel at home. The electricity service was on point with no delays when power goes off. Over all my expectations were met
All the pictures are accurate! It's a great hotel with resort vibes. Staff are all awesome, friendly and helpful. Breakfast offered great sampling of local food . BW is about a 30min ride into the major happenings in Accra but is gives an insight into local perspective of day-day (recommend getting a dedicated driver or hotel can help with uber vs taxi). I would go back.
My dad and I had an amazing stay at Best Western Plus in Accra. Everyone was super nice and welcoming. The room was beautiful. Breakfast was very good and what a view! Will definitely come back when I am back in Accra :)
We had an amazing and excellent service, especially from your staff. Their patience and experience was a trait to reckon with. They ought to be awarded. I really loved the food and every bit of it. Thank you for a lovely experience
Great place, best food on the planet, everything I had was very delicious. The view was out of this world from my balcony. I recomend this place. It was a great stay, I have nothing but good things to say about the staff at BW Plus Accra.
Very Professional staff ,room was very clean. Front desk staff were helpful as well as restaurant staff. Pool side also clean. Nice beach view. But The internet was a bit slow in the evening. I recommend this hotel.
The hotel is quite nice. For a weekend away from home, I stayed in a family room with my two children. All of the amenities were functional. The hot water is flowing well. The internet was fine. It is a viable option if you are looking for a low-cost hotel in a secure atmosphere. Breakfast (basic but varies each day), The staff's politeness and warm welcome more than made up for the outdated decor. I was impressed by their modest but adequate pool for a 4 Star Hotel . The restaurant's food was likewise delicious. it had an amazing scenery
Terrible service Rubbish food Tasteless drinks Dirty Caught Gastro enteritis while there Water supply cuts off regularly no back up to shower or use toilet Totally regretted booking what was a romantic holiday
This is best hotel indeed. Everything was excellent except two things - internet connection and cleanless of the beach. I know that in Africa it is hard to keep any beach clean, but it would be nice, if the beach would be cleaned.
Spent 3 nights and 4 days here. My first experience of Ghanaian hospitality. Overall the hotel was fine, service was always quick and efficient and with a smile, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The food from the menu was good, big portions, and the beers nice and cool. The breakfast was OK, not too bad, and staff willing to accommodate. The hotel is located next to the beach and at night it was cool to have a beer looking out to the sea. The only issues really I have is the price of the hotel. It charges 4 star prices for 3 star services. It is a 3 star hotel as it doesn't offer a huge menu or has a fully functional bar, and not a whole lot going on..... Other small gripes....i had to ask staff to clean my sheets after 2 days...... and the taxi man offered to us from the hotel cheated us out of 100 cedis for bringing us into town, and boy was he embarrassed about it too, for a trip that should cost only about 30 cedis. ha. Not a whole lot happening in the hotel, atmosphere was a bit dead, and it is what is it.......just OK.
My stay was amazing! I usually come to Ghana to see family, but I decided to do a bit of a vacation as well and this hotel was perfect! The staff, food, area, hotel, everything exceeded expectations! The view from the rooms are amazing, the breakfast in the mornings were beyond amazing, I love how they incorporated Ghanaian dishes into the breakfast! The staff were amazing, definitely will be visiting again. The location is a bit far from central Accra but it's 100% worth it, everything is priced reasonably, and there's no reason to leave when everything's right there along with you!
My time at the hotel was marvelous. The architecture, the nature view of the beach and the amenities were top notch. The staff too were looking smart, neat and ready to assist. The overall neatness of the hotel was really a big plus.
The customer service was very poor and room needs to be updated. This is a great location for dinner or lunch but wouldn't recommend anyone to stay for the price. The service was very poor but the food was ok.
People in the hotel are all very nice, very friendly and always open to help. This from the reception till the room service and the cleaning ladies. They where all have a open ear to listen and have some small talk. This experience did make you feel welcome.
Beach side location with a sirene atmosphere. The shuttle driver from the airport was extremely nice. Good meals and nice room. The receptionist were nice as well. The room was clean and very tidy. I had a good time
This hotel has so much potential. The ambiance is great however, the room and bathroom needs more attention. My water shut off as I was taking a shower. Towels looked mad dirty. Room had a weird odor.
Had a nice experience with a serene and ambient environment. Lovely Hideout for any occasion whenever! Nice sea view with a lovely pool. Out door setup was amazing creating a beautiful picturesque environment. Amazing Food as well.
The staff was extreamly on top of their game. The Hotel is very nice. I did not know there was such a beautiful place in Accra, sepcifically Nungua. The pool was very clean and environment very good. I will be visiting again and again. Good job to the management of the Hotel.
The ambience of the hotel and the beauty was amazing. The staff were also friendly and ready to help. There is something different from the last time I visited last year. The Kudos to the management for their work.
This is now my second visit to this hotel this year and I can assure you it will be my last. I had to severely rebuke the management due to the sheer filth of my room. Clearly there was no surface that had seen broom or brush or mop or detergents. Thinking of staying here? To quote the late, great Bishop Bullwinkle “hell no, to the no no no“
I absolutely loved this place. I booked several rooms for a trip I'd organised for family and friends. The staff were friendly, polite and offered to help us with so many elements of my stay that I can hardly remember them all - including arranging for a hairdresser to come to my room to braid my hair at 5am in the morning!! Breakfast buffet is good, catering for all diets. Sunday morning be prepared to woken up by the nearby Churches - this is a general hazard all over Ghana. A lovely calm hotel with a nice pool and a walkway that leads to a stunning section of the beach. Safe to say, I would recommend and will definitely stay again. A complete hidden gem.
I've been holding off on doing a review for this place but my husband just randomly reminded me about this hotel, and what we dealt with. It was a terrible experience. First of all we booked a deluxe sea view room, king size bed etc etc. The bed and pillows were ROCK SOLID, there were palm trees blocking our window view so we saw nothing, but that's not even the worst part: We ordered some spring rolls and a few other snacks via room service around 10pm, which we waited ages for. The guy that brought it to us said he will collect the money in the morning and we were okay with that. When we finished I called room service to collect the plates and glasses. I called twice, they never came so I had to walk downstairs just after midnight and give them the plates myself, I was SOOO annoyed but did so calmly. The staff were embarrassed. Then get this, AT 2AM THE GUY THAT BROUGHT OUR SNACKS BANGED ON OUR DOOR AGGRESSIVELY SAYING HE HAS COME TO COLLECT THE MONEY, 2AM!!!! My husband nearly fly kicked him that day!! absolutely shocking!! The next morning we went to see the manager immediately, a lovely girl who was shocked and understood how crazy this was. Another thing about this hotel was the two very large churches facing our door, across the road. My GOD. We checked in on a friday and stayed 3 nights, so that friday the churches were having an all night service. The combination of being awoken at 2am and the churches making noise meant we didn't sleep until about 6:45-7 the next morning. Each night there was excessive noise right outside. On the last night I had severe food poisoning (not from this hotel) and they were kind enough to extend our checkout as I was so weak I couldn't move. We will not be coming back here again though. We left this hotel with red eyes and severe headaches.
Very serene atmosphere for couple who really want to relax. My wife and I really enjoy our stay with best western plus. Their frontline services too is excellent. The standard is just like any other hotel outside the country.
Excellent location, great customer service. The food was really good. Clean And beautiful pool. Clean Rooms, comfortable bed. Room service was excellent. Beautiful ocean view. I enjoy my stay and will come again.
This is my usual hotel when I'm in Accra for a time out. You might be discouraged by the locality, but the rustic ambience of the hotel is an entirely different world. The staff are super nice & go above & beyond to be helpful. I've held two trainings there now & my participants have left with fond memories. Wouldn't mess too much around the rocky beach though
I can't tell you how disappointed we were with this hotel. First, the positives: The staff is very friendly and pleasant and the pool area is nice and well kept. The negatives: It is in a bad part of town. Our room smelled horribly like mold. We tried opening the back door to air it out, but it was just really bad. The TV did not work. The maintenance guy came, looked at it for awhile and declared it broken. There are ZERO electrical outlets in the desk or bed area to use. The one behind one bed held the clock and the lamp. There is a tea kettle but no where to plug it in. I called the desk about it and the man came down, hunted around for an outlet and finally suggested I set it on the floor by the back door to plug it into the lone plug in the room. Even then, we discovered the tea kettle didn't work (it did not shut off and boiled all the water out and caused a significant burn when I tried to move it) The towels were stained and looked dirty. I went down to use the treadmill in the fitness room, but it was broken. We stayed at many places in Ghana some more expensive and some much less. This was the worst of the lot. It is not worth the price we paid, nor would I recommend it.
From check-in to poolside, to the restaurant for breakfast buffet. To the room all the staff was absolutely wonderful, attentive, caring and serving. The rooms were clean and very modern. The lobby was inviting an absolutely beautiful. Very comfortable by the pool and the service that was fantastic.
The room was basic, but clean, the staff friendly. The food was good, but the beach disgusting. Only stayed one night, good for just staying, its not a place to go for the beach(unless they decide to clean it).
When we arrived guards wanted to look in our glove compartment dont know what they would think they would find in there. Reception very helpful on check in. Other staff are very slow not attentive at all. We ordered dinner starters and main we only got our main we only realised when we had finished eating our dinner. Waitress did not write nothing down so thats obviously all she could remember. Hubby ordered meat in his spinach stew and got fish. Hubby ordered a ginger ale got some sort of mocktail. We ordered a drink after we finished dinner but drink did not come until staff had all finished chatting around the bar probably about 20 mins. Room ok but tv was broken we called reception they said be there in a minute 45 mins later i said to hubby lets go out tv still not fixed when we got back. They want you to pay high prices yet outside our room was the ghetto. Swimming pool area ok and your right on the beach a plus for the hotel. Probably the worst hotel we have stayed in and we have travelled all over ghana for cheaper and better quality of staff.
I am now in love with Best Western Plus Accra Beach Hotel. I will return here over and over again. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of my stay. Every worked perfectly well. Great location. My breakfast was always at the seaside. It was completely a wow experience for me all through my stay.
We have a very pleasant stay at the hotel. The pool side and beach side were the best experience for me. The ambiance is great. The rooms are very neat and comfortable. High speed internet is available, lovely meals and very helpful staff.
This hotel blew my mine, I am here for fours and the services are amazing and the staffs are very friendly. However the beach is not clean so i stayed by the pool. The price for four nights was about $520. I must say quite affordable
Beware of security. They will get physically violent if you do not do as you are told. The staff at the front desk and in the restaurant are great. They were very friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant.
The hotel is great both exterior and interior. The services are good, great breakfast. However, the WiFI in the second floor is not so strong at certain periods but downstairs, the WIFI is good. My bed was not so firm and a bit unconformable. The ocean view is a great experience, I will love to experience that over and over again. Inside the hotel it looks as if you are in a developed country. Immediately outside the gate of the hotel, you are greeted with the reality of a developing country; very bad roads
I enjoyed the ambience ,the rooms were also very neat !customer Care was extremely great and since I judge a place by the customer care experience I will say kudos to the team and keep it up! I will recommend this place to everyone
When I thought Accra Beaches couldn't get any gross and disgusting this hotel took the mantle from the few Beaches I have managed to visit. The beachfront of this purported 4-star beach hotel is beyond disgusting and a big health risk. The beach is heavily and incredibly disgusting. For a hotel that charges so much, I am appalled of their discontinues disregard for the beach. Ghana Tourism ought to be reviewing these hotels and dropping them to a deserving 2-star. I meant to reserve this so-called 4-star beach hotel in order to host an event there but was totally grossed out by the dirty and disgusting beach. Clean the darn beach up!!!!
It is an ideal place for honeymooners, families who are planning a vacation and of course business. It is near the Beach with lots of coconut trees and beautiful flowers good for photoshoots. I will definitely go back to this place.
the accomidations, staff and food offered at this location is above par. If you plan on visiting Accra and want a great value for your funds this is the number one destination. Also the location is direcly on the beach and an amaizing view to be had.
The hotel is simply fantastic. The rooms are clean and spacious, with an iron and ironing board provided, which is very convenient for a business traveler.. The internet is very fast and reliable. Breakfast was really good with lots of fruits and fresh juices. The staff are all very helpful and all through my stay, I felt very comfortable. I wil definitley reccomend this hotel.
The hotel ambience is amazing. The fresh air and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The only issue is the road network to the Hotel. But when you get there it is absolutely wow!! The road network should be fixed
Tekor the guest services manager and her team were excellent. Hotel is extremely nice with ocean view and quite clean. Food was top notch. Only downside is the 45min drive from airport in Accra traffic
We loved the hotel. Its ambience and comfortable rooms. The beds and fluffy pillows were a treat. The children enjoyed staying in the room as much as playing outside in the pool and by the beach. I would have loved to use the gym but from my wing it meant, I had to pass by reception, walk by the pool to get to it. So missed that. The restaurant did not have as much options and variety as I would like. Overall it was a nice stay and staff were excellent. Great service.
Stayed at this hotel for 1 night in May. It's just exceptional service all the way. We were welcome with glasses of fresh orange juice while we were still at the check-in desk. It was mother's day Sunday and there was a buffet and a live band to mark the occasion, the menu was great with lots of varieties. The waiter that attended to us was really professional, got us everything we requested for always with a smile. The other restaurant staff were also very courteous. Though the surrounding neighborhood is not very great (just local community houses and a fishing community next to the hotel) but there was no interference or disturbance whatsoever from anywhere. I would always stay at BWP. The beach is lovely too, took some pictures on the rocks in the water.
Paul the porter was at my beck&call & boy the housekeeper Susan was unbelievable I have stayed in hotel in USA and London but never had my room clean and my clothes arranged this way I was mesmerized.
This hotel is an excellent facility in my opinion. The staff is very professional and customer service is impeccable.I have stayed at this hotel twice within the last three months. The service provided has been excellent.
The hotel location is good for relaxation the sound of the sea waves echos in your sleep making you enjoy your sleep it's the same feeling when it rains at night and the sound of the wind is heard in your sleep.
Good atmosphere and breeze from the sea.Service from the lounge was superb, the manager ensured that both food and drinks never delayed. The waitress serving us kept on checking on us from time to time.I recommend Prosper the FnB Manager and Portia Nortey for a great service. Will surely visit the hotel again whenever I come to Nungua
Had a great stay here and would give the place a five star review except for the poor value of one of the house taxi drivers called Eric who hit me hard on my first night to keep it short a trip to the airport should be 60cds single return 120 or 48 cds single 96cds return with uber this piece of work charged me 160cds so I avoided using him throughout my stay and opted for the excellent David who was reliable and charged the same as uber sometimes a return trip to airport with him is 120cds 60 cds each way not 160cds but on the whole had a great stay as all other staff were reliable honest and friendly must give special mention to a girl called Porsche she was excellent
Excellent service and friendly environment, delicious food rooms were great comfortable the f&b staffs will make your stay at Best Western awesome and the f&b manager Prosper was proactive and caring I will really come back and I will like everyone to go there experience such a wonderful treat
In City far from City, this is how I can describe our experience, just 45 min drive from Accra this place is just amazing. It was like a hidden gem, the staff is really amazing. The smile and vibe they welcomed us with just told us that we are going to have a good timeout from City hustle and it truly was. The beach is not an ideal one but whenever you see Sea/Ocean right out from your room, you just feel connected to it. It was surreal, the sound of waves crashing into the shore, the greenry surrounding it. The food is amazing and nice, the service could have been faster. We had to wait a long time for our Lunch and our Coffee to come. Breakfast had ample options and Chef prepared the same the way we wanted. Would surely visit the place again, the staff, the service, the food and place is notches above other places in Accra.
If you're looking for a 100 dollars per night hotel, use BWP. If you're looking for a 100 dollars per night hotel that's worth less than 50 dollars per night, use BWP. It's by the beach, the only positive, and the noise from the churches around will keep you up all night. Moreso, the noise from the social events in the hotel will keep you banging your head on a wall all day.
It was such a pleasure staying at the Best Western Plus Accra Beach Hotel which is an oasis amidst the shantytown of Nungua. From the airport pickup by Sam , the front desk supervisor Dan and the restaurant supervisor Patience, we could not ask for better service. The staff was always ready to go the extra mile for our comfort.
Overall, a rather enjoyable experience. Accra has an avoidably intriguing vibe. We had an absolute jol! Ghanaian people are warm and welcoming - this really made our visit even greater. The Best Western Plus Hotel took great care of us!
I stayed for four peaceful nights. I traveled solo and it was wonderful to trust the front desk staff to call a cab & driver for me, which took me around Accra for two days at a reasonable price. My room was cozy & clean with all the comforts of home. Flat screen t.v, coffee and tea a lovely big bathroom with bathtub and shower. The room also had a sitting area and a balcony facing the ocean, which was wonderful to watch the sunrise. The restaurant had decent meals at good prices, although the staff at dinner weren't in a hurry to assist. There is room service and massages offered in room, I had an AMAZING Swedish massage! The hotel offers free pick ups to and from the airport, but they forgot to pick me up, I ended up paying $12 from the airport. The beach is pretty grimy, with lots of garbage and pigs & piglets hanging around (although I did see men cleaning). I would definitely stay at this hotel in the future, as the cleanliness of the room, great staff and I felt safe.
From check in to check out, every moment of my stay was perfect. Any issues were resolved immediately, any questions answered right away and the accommodations very relaxing and pleasant. It's very seldom you find a hotel with all employees operating as one and always focused on customer service and satisfaction. At this hotel, they do that! The Best Western Plus Accra Beach Hotel gets my highest rating.
Stayed there for a week due to business trip and location was ideal for me. The room initially given was small and bathroom was not properly cleaned thus reported to reception and was given another room after a couple of hours!! as there were not sure which room was available and the room that was supposed to be ready was not so I had to wait for long. New room was big with a balcony looking over the pool and the beach. Bed was big and soft and room had a big plasma TV. Near you can find a small shopping mall with some restaurants and super market with some shops. Pool was nice and clean but sunbed were a bit old and funny enough the smoking area had no astray and even I had asked for one the hotel didn't have one.... It is not a resort type hotel and the beach is not suitable for swim. Breakfast was basic and average but ok to start the day. Food at the restaurant was very good, reasonably priced and very good quality. But the hotel has huge issue with service this is their weak point. On my last night it took 1 1/2 hour to get dinner and after 45 mins they remember that one of the two dishes we had order was not available!! I asked for a beer and I had to wait for 10 mins for a glass as they have run out from clean glasses and I had to wait for the washing machine....... and these are only two of the issues I had, Staff is very friendly with big smile but lack of system and training/ They need to improve considerably their service and do better maintenance in the room and hotel common areas.
Ambiance:The ambiance is Spectacular. I loved that my room had a view of the Beach. The pool area has a nice waterfall and sitting areas to cool off. The beach area is a bit rocky, Not sure you might enjoy taking a walk on the beach, but it was nice to explore regardless. You can see the locals fishing on their canoes not too far from the beach.Cleanliness:The hotel is very clean, with room service daily. I also observed the beach being cleaned while I was there, so that's good.Location:It's about 30 mins away from central Accra. With an Uber or a private car, it's not so difficult to move around.Food: My room came with complimentary breakfast (Mostly the standard English breakfast with a few Ghanaian meals, which tasted good). If you're more interested in trying out some Ghanaian food, you can find them on the menu at the bar or from your room. WIFI-Absolutely bad. The connection kept fluctuating and had moments where I couldn't log in to their Free WIFI.Cooling/AC-My AC in my room didn't work throughout my stay. I endured the heat till the 2nd day. I complained so early in the morning, but didn't have the maintainence team come to check the AC till the afternoon and even very late in the evening ( about 10pm).In total 3 Staff from the maintainence team came to check my AC after reminders and they kept repeating the same checks , made me feel like they just showed up after each complaint so that it would seem like they are actually “working on fixing the AC” Anyway it didn't work and the room was hot!
Rooms were clean. Service was good. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Had all qualities i look for in a vacation location. Sand, beach, water, palm trees, pool, free transfers from airport, complimentary water and breakfast daily.
We stayed there for a weeklong training. The view and ambience of the hotel are amazing. Paid for a room with a bathtub but it was leaking and never got to enjoy it though. I used to wake up early to catch the sunrise. Was indeed breathtaking. Staff were helpful with only a few glitches in communication. Overall experience was amazing.
I stayed here for few nights. As for Ghana standards this hotel is fabulous. Every room has a balcony with sea view, air con, flat screen, toiletries, complimentary tea and coffee, safe, iron. My room was very clean and spacious. Free breakfast offered huge choice of European and a touch of local foods. European dinner options available and very tasty. Bar with live piano music had a wide selection of drinks.Veranda offered beautiful views of the gardens and sea. There are beautiful wooden sculptures everywhere. Most mornings I had the pool to myself (as Ghanaians are hiding from the sun and tend to come in from 2ish or later). There is a lifeguard present, outdoor shower and modern, clean washrooms. There is a couple of swings with curtains to protect from sun.Grounds are beautiful and clean.Staff was extremely helpful, chilled and not in your face.Every car even known taxi drivers had a boot and inside checked before being let onto the property.Outside music was just the right discreet level (some places Ive been it was so loud that its enough to scare you away from hanging). There are security guards on the grounds.Hotel got busy over the weekend in the evenings but come 11ish and it was quiet and peaceful. Now it is Africa. The area outside is very poor there is nothing to do there for a white folk.Hotel is far from everything. It is not a beach destination. The beach is dirty as everywhere in Ghana.Hotel's side is also rocky. It is mostly dominated by local fishermen. This is hotel with the "view of the ocean and gorgeous breeze" not for swimming, walks or sunbathing. However pool was large, clean, grounds beautiful and mostly empty:) Most days there was no lime or mint at the bar. When kitchen was busy I had to wait up to 45min longest for my meal. It is a very peaceful, quiet beautiful oasis. I felt like home there after time in dirty, fumed with diesel, maniacal, busy, loud and overwhelming Accra.
I'm a Bestwestern Diamond member, and can say to anyone reading this, this is not Plus standard Bestwestern, not even close. The hotel supposedly did a remodel in 2017, so if this a remodel, I hate to see what it was like before. This hotel is a very long way from the airport, the surrounding area is poor looking and dirty, when get to my overpaid room, had no towels, or face cloth in the room. The room seems very dated, and the beach area is dirty, and unwalkable like other reviews have stated. To all reading, I wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel, stay somewhere else closer to the city, I'm glad I only did 2 nights before checking into another hotel. Being diamond Istay at allot of best western hotels, and will continue to do so, but I can guarantee I'll never stay at the Best Western Accra Beach hotel, even if it was FREE! One last thing, it takes hours to get a simple food order
We stayed two nights at this hotel. A beautiful hotel, very relaxing and comfortable location, quiet and excellent service. Really recommend. The Only thing was the promise of the bacon at breakfast, but they served no bacon.
I÷ was in Ghana for my tour show for a couple of days, my producer informed me that we will be staying at this hotel, she told me lot about the hotel and I couldn't wait to experience all that she said. Truth is, I had an amazing experience and stay in this hotel. From the airport pick up, the polite, friendly and professional staff, the welcome drink, the ambience, waking up to a beautiful scenery, clashing waves, refreshing sea breeze, the cornrows of coconut trees, the food, the bar, the woodwork and interior design, the security, the room space, comfortable bed, the bathroom, the furniture and fittings, the walk on the terrace and private beach, the sea and pool view at the balcony.... the list is endless and I got a surprise birthday party!!! BEST WESTERN PLUS ACCRA BEACH HOTEL is the place to stay when you are in Ghana... you will thank me later.
I had a great time here in the hotel. The facilities are excellent, with wonderful ocean view...waking up to see the beauty of nature. I enjoyed every of their Meal. This review can't be complete without mentioning Mrs TEKOR; a very friendly, always ready to offer assistance and making sure my stay was enjoyable. TEKOR was excellent in her duty, and I hereby recommend and rate her “exceptionally excellent”. Looking forward visiting this hotel again! Tarison Ebikebena (From Benin City, Nigeria )
Excellent Service. Tekor Quaye, the director Sales and Marketing, was exceptional. She made my wife and myself enjoy this trip. I will definitely be back and also recommend this hotel to others. Emma.
The room we got was by the beach, the decor was good and the food really nice (free buffet breakfast was very good). Though the room rates are kind of pricey, the food isn't. (Note; price is relative). The hotel was very clean, not too big and not too small. Pool side was beautiful and the restaurant was lovely too (i liked the grand piano and the pianist too).Overall i enjoyed my stay and would recommend it.
I traveled with a group of 11 and Ghana was our first stop. This by far was the best stay overall during our journey. The hotel staff was exceedingly courteous, willing, pleasant, and eager to tend to any request or complaint. There was a mix up in our room assignment and EVERYTHING was done to correct it. The views are lovely, the breakfast buffet was very good, and the service was top notch. The restaurant was slow and I assume the staff was not sufficient. However, the food was worth waiting for as it was delicious. The pool area was very nice as was the bar and lounge. I enjoyed my stay and would love to return one day.
A beautiful place in Accra Ghana. There was a misunderstanding about the reservations. We wanted twk beds in the room. They had one king bed for two people. We were not couples. Abigail however was very professional and helpful. This was taken care of effortlessly. The staff was very cooperative. Dennis of cleaning staff was very helpful and he did avery good job cleaning our room. When we ate at hotel, it took avery long time to get our meal. They had only one server (Joyce). She was good but it seems as though the kitchen staff was not up to the task. Members if our party wanted to walk in the ocean. The sea was very rough and men from the hotel staff stayed with them until they were done. It was overall an enjoyable visit. Very pleasant and helpful staff.
Honestly don't know where to begin so I will dive right in. This hotel should be rated 4 star in my book. Excellent service in all parts of hotel. The food was very good. The service was excellent, from Housekeeping to reception, to breakfast, to pool to security. Room was facing pool and ocean,, tempting to keep balcony door open to hear the roar of the ocean, but you can hear it anyway even with door close. As others have said, the community of Nungua is quite intense,, in every way,, but in spite or because of struggles the people in Nungua face.. everyone is incredibly nice, friendly, helpful, funny and compassionate.. I encountered a number of obstacles in my two weeks in Nungua,, and everyone at the BEST WESTERN did whatever they could to help me. Please get to know the people at this special hotel. You will have friends for the rest of your life. Yes the room was spotless, spotless clean, and yes, everywhere I went I felt welcomed,, but again, it is the people that are the greatest of all. thank you to everyone at this great hotel. I would not have been able to stay in Nungua if not for here. If you need a driver, they will find one for you, or you can call my dear friend Eugene: +233 24 344 4783.. You need a driver who really knows how to navigate the roads and Eugene is calm, cool collected. He is quiet but such a safe and reliable driver.
It's a very nice and quiet (at the time of the visit) Hotel. The views are amazing. One thing I would highlight is that it's not for the beach lovers. The access to the beach is locked probably for security reasons, but even if it wasn't the beach isn't really suitable for swimming, high waves with loads of rocks.
Great food, nice facility. Good access to Nungua and Teshie which we needed. Tough neighborhood. Absolutely fantastic service and transportation access because of the efforts of Samuel Ayuba and Tekor Quaye. They made phone calls for us, verified businesses, took shipping, arranged personal tours of Accra, and much more. Thank you Samuel and Tekor! DMc
We were a group of six people and we were at best western plus beach hotel for four days. We had the most memorable moments at best western plus beach hotel, i am eternally grateful. We had a remarkable experience, the hospitality is the best ,room service was accurate, deluxe rooms, clean bed sheet, clean environment, architectural designs, nice bar, the warmness, friendliness, the rooms felt like we were in heaven, the sea view and pool view was on point, the tour guide service , airport pick up services were always on time. We enjoyed our stay in best western beach hotel, your team are highly trained and courteous. we all had major fun. Lest i forget, the buffet breakfast is a class of its own, fantastic varieties. We love Ghana! We love Best western beach hotel !!! Thank you for making our stay worthwhile.
View from my room was beautiful. The hotel was beautiful. Rooms are big and spacious. Spa was great. The beach wasn't all that. Food was good enough, for the breakfast buffet, I ate all I could. The drinks are also not so pricey. The pool was crowded, I guess it was because of the holidays. The staff were really good and helpful. The location was far from town for me but it is easily accessible. Oh there's a church across so beware. Overall, I will be back again.
Nice room, nice taff, good restaurant at very decent prices. By the beach, the hotel offers a very nice view but the surroundings are unfortunately neither appealing nor anything clean so 3 stars will be my maximum rating because it is really bad. The beach can not be used to bath. More a restroom for the neighbors. But could be really nice. If the beach would be nicer or at least clean, it would get the maximum rating. The restaurant is cheap and really good.
I absolutely love this hotel! The prices, the food, the staff, the location! Unbelievable! It is worthwhile to get a suite with an ocean view! The only negative would be the neighborhood seems a little sketchy.
Had a very nice family room, though we had requested a twin. It has been upgraded since being here in 2012. Some staff are the same friendly people. Breakfast is very filling and satisfying . A great pool area with many places to sit as well as in the restaurant. Sometimes the service is slow but enjoy as the scenery is good and hey why be in a rush when your here. Room was well furnished except for the light that came from outside our room window, annoying but not enough to make a fuss. Room was expensive by Best western standards but you got free water and in room coffee every day. showers had plenty of hot water. Food was always delicious.
I was very pleased with my stay here. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were properly cleaned everyday and my Wi-Fi worked everyday. The hotel's restaurant also served a good breakfast buffet and I liked the dinner options as well. The ride to the airport was about 40 minutes, but they have a complimentary shuttle service and taxis are readily available from the hotel.
Great hotel, nice, clean, great view from the room, clean beddings and rest room, great dinner (Africa dishes) everything in the room works. Location might not be too close to big businesses in Accra, and no elevator to the upper rooms. Check in and check out is easy. Very serene environment to spend time with your loved ones or to get productive
My group (15 families) stayed one night at the hotel. Everyone was super helpful and professional. Room and facility condition was way better than I saw from the pictures. Swimming pool was a bit deep but clean and had a separate kids pool. All our families liked the room and pool area. You can also see beautiful lights from Tema port at night. Strongly recommend for family who wants to get away from busy Accra within 20-30mins. Special thanks to Tekor, Emmanuel, Janet, Sam! You guys made our stay so special.
My first time at Best Western Plus Hotel, the hotel is lovely. The services are great. The waiters are great and they carry smiles on their faces. They are alert and ready to give you a helping hand. The Assistant F&B manager(Blessed) and Prince, the bartender was really nice. The only disappointment was the delay of Food which I believe chef and his crew will work on. Such an amazing hotel and a nice pool with a nice view of the beach. I was invited to a workshop ITC and I will definitely come back.
I enjoyed the service. The view was amazing, the interior was beautiful and relaxing . The staff were helpful and supportive. The food was gud as well. The service was very impressive. I will definitely go back there again when i receive my bonus.
Friendly staff and a cozy getaway atmosphere. The pool is one of the most inviting in the vicinity. It's looks pretty clean and clear. Orders just take a little longer. Their water melon juice was my favorite.
Stayed five nights as part of a large group, half of whom had to be moved to another hotel. We were told pre booked rooms had no water but that was not believable. As evidenced by the confusion that ensued when we arrived on the Monday. Was clear the check in team were out of their depth. The hotel has huge potential or maybe I expected more given it is Best Western. Good things: meals inc breakfast (try a crepe!), most staff are warm, helpful; the cleaning team do a great job. Great tea making facilities but there was no socket near table. The piano in reception is a welcome touch and the evening recitals were calming. I was on the first floor and I was unable to turn my (bright)balcony light off. Kept curtains closed. I showed it to one of the cleaners who checked and reported it, switch must be faulty. Big, comfy bed. Great to be next to the beach even if you are out in the sticks. Wifi is extremely poor, except in meeting room where we had training. Thats why I have put not sure for wifi availability. Electric hand dryers in lobby loos would be better for the environment. The AC in my room was noisy at times. It made bizarre noises and sounded as though it would break down at any minute. Lack of a diverse range of tv channnels. They say breakfast starts at 600 but its more 630am. If you go earlier you will find staff still setting up, simply tell guests its 6.30am. A minor point, please ensure cut up fruit (breakfast) can fit into breakfast bowls provided.
Great hotel with very friendly staff and good service. Located at the beach around 30 min from the town center. The money you need to spend on taxis will be saved on the money you spend in the hotel, 50% cheaper than the hotels in town, great bar and restaurant, amenities and location is great. Highly recommended place
From Jul8 to18th, I stayed at the Accra Beach Hotel with three other guest. My experience was wonderful. The room was simple, and comfortable. I quite enjoyed my view of the Atlantic Ocean. What impressed me the most was the staff. From the front desk, to the pool, restaurant, everyone did their best to assure the comfortability of my group. Whether I was sitting in the lobby or relaxing by the pool, the energy felt great.
Situated right on the beach front, the night is lit up by the dull lights of ships at sea through the fog/mist/. It is a comfortable enough place to stay with Wi-Fi and all the amenities that one expects of a hotel. Relatively quiet, with extremely friendly and helpful staff. After having spent, just one day, I realised that this hotel is far from the city centre and is situated in a heavily populated area hence the near 2 hour drive to and from the city. So for those seeking easy access to town, you might reconsider. The beach is at your doorstep with the sight of fisherman on skiffs, however beware of the rocks. The room was clean and air conditioner did the trick to kill the humidity.
Had business in accra. Best western has amazing views and is beach side. Hotel bar is well staffed and all hosts speak english. The room was good not great, ac worked but leaked water on tbe floor, plugs worked but room had to be re arranged, the staff was help ful, the restaurant staff was new and didnt get my order correct 2x, however the bar staff is excellent. Rooms have cable and ac, hot water.. pretty much the best there is here views arw excellent
I only stayed a night for a R&R break overall 3.5/5. Reception: The reception were friendly. Key card didn't work twice but after that no problem. No menu for room service in the room but I was given a menu quickly. Room service was ok, I had chicken burger and chips burger was lovely, chips were slightly undercooked but fresh and hot. 4.5/5 Room: room was spotless and decor is 5/5. Nice flatscreen tv with good channels just not very clear. Nice balcony view with sea view. AC worked. Bathroom is lovely, toiletries provided. Slippers provided but rove is upon request. I was in 113 next to the main entrance so every time the door is opened I heard it slam and I was abruptly awoken by this at 6 in the morning. 3.5/5 Pool: No signage to know deep from shallow end. Pool was dirty and I wasn't told until after I'd been in the pool. Pool area was nice and the cocktail I ordered was good. Service was also good. 3.5/5 Beach: Nice but small area which was dirty. I got locked out because they close the gate at 6 but no one told me and there was no one manning the gate so I had to call reception on my mobile before someone came. 3/5 Breakfast: Limited options and I was pestered by flies so I left early. Good service. 3.5/5
I recently took some friends to eat at the African Royal Beach Hotel. On the day we went there were quite a few people using the pool area outside. They had loud music playing as entertainment near the pool area which could also be heard in the upstairs restaurant nearby. To my and my friends shock, some of the songs that were playing from the speakers had THE MOST DISGUSTING LYRICS. As my friends and I ate we could not believe what we were hearing. Songs that used the "N" word - yes the n*****r word were being blasted out for everyone outside to hear. Other songs with disgusting lyrics were played also. All this seemed to go over the heads of the staff and management. Does no one at this hotel vet what music is being played. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. Will never be going to this hotel again and will not be recommending it at all.
The African Royal Beach Hotel has been newly renovated - the photos on their website and facebook page do not reflect how nicely designed and comfortable the hotel is! The entrance, reception bar with terrace and bright colorful rooms are the highlights. The gardeners have spent time landscaping and keep the grounds well maintained. It's a perfect getaway from Accra for 2-3 days, only 35min drive from Accra airport. Friendly staff and true Ghanaian hospitality. Try the grilled prawns and banana daiquiri or the grilled snapper with a glass of white wine on the terrace overlooking the Gulf of Guinea... you will enjoy I'm sure :)
I arrived in Accra on December 31st 2015 yes New Years Eve! My friends collected me from the airport where I went through the normal security checks eyes ,finger prints etc. They took me to my first hotel that I booked so I could see the people mix with the culture The Roots Hotel.I enjoyed it there nice suite wifi, cable etc and near shops churches side walk vendors etc.within easy walking distance. quite a few really nice restaurants 5mins away my favourite was the Rockafella because I love Steak and lobster anywhere in the world. I stayed there from Dec31 Jan explored the city then moved to the African Royal Beach Hotel [ named because Queen Elizabeth stayed at the Hotel next door at some point in the ]past Jan - Feb leaving Accra on Feb 6. I loved the hotel and the staff .The Hotel was changing smack in the middle of changing hands and renovations were taking place on the opposite side of our rooms which were very nice and comfortable air-condition cable tv room service laundry ,dry cleaning etc.Breakfast buffet style included in room price a combination of Ghanaian and Western breakfast foods from fresh fruits to hot spiced Accra spiced fish along with baked beans pancakes Yam cakes a specialty or just yams as breakfast potatoes. A very diverse clientele were staying.in the spa was great and so inexpensive. I feel the staff treated us extra special because there was renovation work going on which we were not aware off . The only problems we had were with the telephone and internet network sometimes had issues not connecting, but I have issues at home. I loved the entry door which they said would be getting changed (sad) Beautiful African wood with sculptured drawings cut in the wood and I also loved the Huge elephant head that greeted us I do not think it had been a real one at any point it was beautiful. They had a live band 4 nights a week at dinner and after .unfortunately they tended to stay with mostly top 40 USA music with Bob Marley Reggae mix I guess that is what the thought visitors wanted to hear I loved the University of Ghana Campus ,Kwame Kurumba memorial ,W.E.Duboise museum The Cape Coast Castle and museum The Aburi Gardens and much much more. Makola Market is enormous I visited but in my opinion it is over whelming for a non shopper like me who is not good at bargaining, but for a shopper of merchandise it is an incredible gold and diamond mine for bargains from food to fabrics gorgeous . Also went to the Art and craft market bought a beautiful bracelet and other memory gifts for the grands elephant and giraffe. we used taxis a lot prices have to be negotiated as well I am glad I had my friends who live there. I would definitely go back to both these hotels.Although it is better if someone you know is there. Awaakba I think this is how it is spelled means welcome you see it every where from the time you land at the airport.I am sure glad I flew Emirates they were the best! Ready to go again. Also went to Dubai from here
Sure, rooms are big and cosy, but i'll say it's normal for this kind of price. The crew is very nice and polite. But they are definitly not ready ! The "work in progess" is more a complete renovation thing. The noise is everywhere and very loud. You are on a construction site, with all the inconvenient of it (hammer, drill...). Forget about the swimming pool, it is not gonna be ready before months. If you want to have dinner, be patient, we wait al least 45 minutes each time, and the menu is half unavailable. After 3 days, still waiting for the Wifi to arrive... If you have planned to spend time and money in a quite and relaxing place, pick another one.
