Je m’inscris Superb location - just 5 minutes walk from Watford High Street. Lovely staff who were helpful and friendly. Great breakfast that was well cooked. Rooms were quiet, clean and comfortable and in good decorative order. The hotel has a smart, comfortable lounge and bar where we met up with friends. Thoroughly recommend…
When I called to make my booking I was not told I needed to make a £50 deposit On arrival the receptionist informed me before i could check in I would need to pay this (which was not a problem) I apologise to her saying I was not told this when booking my room she was very rude & said well you should have known My room was really nice & well kept The Breakfast i really enjoyed Its a really nice hotel in a great location Unfortunately some of the reception staff are very rude & unprofessional When I need to return to Watford again I will choose a different hotel
On check in was told the room was not paid for, fortunately I had the email confirmation with me. Staff not very helpful and my room was in the attic and hard to get to. I have a walking stick so they could see I struggle with walking but gave me a room as far away as possible. Demanded a credit card payment of £50 on check in as a security deposit. Not explained very nicely and my son came to help me check out as I felt intimidated and wasn't sure if the deposit would be returned.
Great location - friendly staff especially Pranali very pleasant and professional. Great links to Wembley and Watford City centre. We came to see Watford FC play and it was just a 5 minute walk from the Hotel. Breakfast was also good gave you good options for the price.
Positives; walking distance to watford which has a nice food market. Also easy access to watford junction for central london/ harry potter museum. Most staff are friendly. Fast room service. Free parking. Food/ drink prices are decent Negatives: Rooms are hotter than hell and given just a fan. 4 pillows in a family room. Walls are paper thin Breakfast wasnt replenished very quickly On a whole, i would stay again if the price was right. But wouldnt be my number one budget hotel in the area.
The rooms were spacious and spotless, with moden décor throughout. Our toom was on the second floor, and the room wasn't bad, clean with crisp white bed sheets. The hotel offers breakfast as an added charge. The staff were attentive and went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately, I can't not remember the two staff members' names whilst staying there, but customer service was impeccable. Would definitely recommend this hotel for business or pleasure.
- No airconditioning, which makes the room very warm during a summer day. - curtains don't block any sun light - bed is not for tall people. I am 6”3 and my feet were outside of the bed - the sleeping couch has hard edges and the kids got hurt because of it - location is ok, walking distance from the city centre
Extremely hot in room with only a small desk top fan which was not adequate for the heat or size of the room. No onsite restaurant so evening meal has to be ordered in or finding food else where. Rippled carpets along 1st floor corridor to lift making a trip hazard and made the hotel look cheap which it wasn't.
Lovely friendly hotel. Only a few minutes walk to the town centre. Nothing too much trouble for staff.
I stayed at best western Watford for 4 days with my young son while our house was being done. I wanted to thank the manager and his team for such wonderful hospitality they provided us. We felt at home and nothing was a burden given that I had an 11 year old staying here and going to school away from his home. The staff went above and beyond to support us with his needs. Thank you indeed we really appreciate your hospitality
Room was very basic for price , hairs in bed and bath , very loud noise from room above , bathroom in serious need of a renovation, tv not working had no channels , shower curtain had staining .
Have stayed (and worked) at better Best Western hotels in the past but this did the job for a last minute 1 night booking for Wembley. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and helped giving directions to Wembley. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from Watford high street and a 10 minute walk to the train station. Our room was perfectly fine - clean and tidy. The bathroom was pretty dated but not something that massively bothers us. Main lobby looked okay however my partner came back from the bathroom and said that they were disgusting and in desperate need of cleaning. I also had an issue in the ladies that maybe they weren't being checked regularly enough to make sure they were up to standard. There was also a bag of rubbish left in the corridor opposite our bedroom just on the floor. The receptionist did pick it up when she was passing (by chance) but if she hadn't have walked past I don't know how long it would have been left there. All in all okay for a 1 night stay but we have stayed at better in Watford before and will probably return to one of them instead.
Location is good and although limited there is free parking. The staff are polite, professional and courteous and are certainly keen to help. But the Hotel itself is tired and uses the cheapest options for everything. For example, the toilet rolls are of such poor, thin quality they fall apart. Towels were old, poor quality and approaching end of life. No water or biscuits in rooms, not even the exec ones. The noise levels are very high due to thin walls and the clientele appear to be completely inconsiderate to others by default. The hotel has a policy of charging a £50 deposit to a card. This is pointless, as there is no room service, no restaurant, and the bar is a separate run business which cannot be charged to the room. Perhaps the charge is because they are use to their customers being of the type that break things... ! The hotel lobby area is spacious with comfortable seats, but I was amazed that the television was transmitting an Indian speaking station. I appreciate that we are a multi-cultural society and as a nation all the better for that, but I am staying in a hotel in England and I do expect English to be the first language. Clearly the hotel management think otherwise. This used to be a very good place to stay, and I have stayed there a number of times over the years. But it has gone downhill. Would I use this hotel again - Only when there is no other option, or the price is substantially cheaper than other options.
Great hotel, nice staff. Convenient parkimg, well located. Special thanks to Casandra for the amazing service. Eill definitely return when in the area.
I needed a place to crash for one night in Watford after rail strikes complicated my travel arrangements, and this fitted the bill admirably. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable with car parking (limited spaces, but I got one). Room was a good size, shower was powerful. Bed wasn't the most comfortable I've had, but good enough, and the room was a little warm, but I could probably have adjusted the heating (I would have looked into that if I'd been staying longer than a single night). Buffet breakfast was perfectly acceptable. For the price, it was excellent value, and just what I needed.
Very welcoming staff as well as a lovely experience. Room was in good condition as well as constant help at the front desk throughout the day - extra food is provided alongside some small cosmetic items at reception such as deodorant, hairspray and hairbrushes.
Staff were so polite and friendly. Rooms were spotless, and the facilities were well-maintained..The hotel's cleanliness surpassed my expectations. Comfortable Accommodations, Beds were exceptionally comfortable.i feel like home.
Great location for Wembley Stadium. Located very close to the city centre so have enough to do. I went to Wembley to watch Brazil play and was a great place to stop as it has easy train access to London. Had breakfast - was nice with good selection - parking was also available. Would stay again
Out dated, basic, staff are not helpful, breakfast was awful, minimal choice had to keep asking for food and drinks at a so called buffet breakfast!!! Rooms are kitted out like the 1960's, not clean. Couldn't wait to check out, it was a nightmare
Stayed as I was going to see an England game at Wembley - was easy to locate has car park at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was good and rooms were clean. Staff are very friendly and help us to get to the best route to Wembley by train. Highly recommend
The car park is tiny and no directions given from the front of the Hotel. Having prepaid fully in advance for our rooms we where told at check in that we had to pay another £50 each on a pre-authorisation using a credit card only and not cash or contactless. As I no longer carry credit cards the receptionist told me I would have to pay online giving my credit card and address details, this process failed on both occasions, I was then told I would have to contact my bank and without this being completed they could not check us in. I cannot contact the bank as its a company credit card I explained, and everone in accounts at work will have gone home by now I explained- no sympathy there. My colleague finally managed to make the payment for both our rooms using his personal account. On check out when he asked when the money would be returned to him the answer given at reception was "maybe later today or tommorow" When my colleague contacted them again later in the day to enquire after not recieving the money he was told it could take up to 14 days! How is this even legal? Let alone a fair way to treat customers.
Very friendly staff upon check in. Room was clean and a nice temperature. Quick walk down the high street to the overground to get into central london. Only negative was how clearly you could hear people in other rooms. Walls must've been really thin as I could hear the conversations next door. Other than that it was a lovely stay and I'd stay here again. Small car park clearly stated when booking so parked in a multi story opposite the hotel. Was meant to be £10 for over 24 hours but hotel staff gave a ticket to bring that cost down to £4 which was helpful!!
Good Morning, Massimo I hope this email finds you well, I just wanted to offer feed back on my stat last Friday. A number of things I wasn't happy with, I checked in at about 9pm, check in staff were lovely and helpful. Went to my room, only to find my room was freezing, having turned the heating up to “max” on the radiator, it was still cold. I then reported it to reception, he said, give me 20 minutes whilst I go to the boiler room, it was still cold (after 20 minutes), without telling me if the room got warmer. I didn't see the phone in the room, or in fact know you could dial directly to reception on it, or I would have done. Then, I was awoken at 3am, by doors slamming opposite my room, I didn't get back to sleep as there was someone snoring next to me (very loudly), which kept me up until breakfast. In the morning, my shower was cold, having adjusted both taps, for 20 minutes, I couldn't get warm water at all, and need up having a cold shower. I paid £12.50 for breakfast, the only thing nice about it was the cereal and orange juice. I left the cooked breakfast, see photo attached, as the sausages was rubbery, bacon covered in fat and it was warm/ (not hot). I certainly will rate my stay 1 stars, and VERY poor value for money, I paid £49 + breakfast (waste of money on my trip), as I needed to book this for a decent night sleep as I had a meeting yesterday in London. I look forward to your reply Regards Tim
The hotel is nice, clean and cozy. The staff is kind and friendly. They serve great coffee as well. The prices for both room and food are very reasonable. Overall exceeded my expectations. Would definitely recommend.
Don't bother with this hotel - there are very few parking spaces - the parking area has a lot of rubbish in it, there was no hot water for a shower in the morning, the breakfast was poor, no food in the evening - spend a little more and get a better service
Hotel is clean and tidy, rooms are functional although my net curtain rail fell off the wall when I opened the net to open the window! Room smelt very strongly of bleach so had to open windows to let out the over powering odour so room then cold and noisy! Food here is an issue. You can order one of 3 pizzas from the hotel itself which I presume are frozen and then re heated. any other food is ordered via the deliveroo app from the neighbouring fast food / restaurants/ cafes. You have to pay delivery and then also a surcharge from hotel for using their app! If your booking is through work and you have a meal allowance then don't bother Go out and find somewhere to eat - it's easier !
Really enjoyable stay at this little hidden gem. 6 minute walk to hight street. great staff and beverages/snacks. clean rooms. Prices seem to fluctuate though :-( staying again though in 2 weeks time :-)
Stayed for two nights and had to move rooms first night due to 3am arrival banging and clattering very loudly and then crying and shout loudly on the phone to someone. 2nd night other people were noisy and loud in hallways until 12:30. Breakfast was great; Location good for town centre; rooms clean and tidy, but not luxurious in any way.
Awful budget hotel. Breakfast was buffet which is quite common, but the food was minimum and the staff member in the restaurant spoke little english, so very hard to communicate. The rooms were so dated, the bathroom had no mixer taps and there was mould in the plug hole, no fridge, had to ask for a bath towel as even though 2 people in the room , only 1 towel provided. It was so hot, and the fan in the room barely worked, no AC anywhere other than in the foyer, we were told they had no spare fans, even though it was quite obvious the hotel was not booked to capacity. Wouldn't recommend staying there.
Very nice & well presented hotel , Good & Clear communications from staff , Also facilities were at a good standard & size as well as plenty of space but parking I felt was a little tight so could be improved a bit
Overall a great experience staying here. On approach to the hotel it was rush hour and a good build up of traffic around. Car parking and finding the car park was a little bit of a nightmare, despite my online Google Street view check before I left home. Staff on arrival were wonderful. The receptionist was polite, professional and she appeared genuinely welcoming and helpful. She was also full of smiles it made my stressful grump into a chilled, I've arrived feeling. The decor in public spaces are as you'd expect. I experienced clean, tidy and no hygiene concerns. A good amount of hand sanitizer available in public spaces. Bedroom, comfortable 2nd floor room. Larger than the average and well worth paying the upgrade! Bathroom although dated was perfect. Bed - typical for hotel stays, not like home but I slept perfectly. Windows had to be kept closed due to the noise outside but fans are provided. Breakfast - Pam, the member of staff present was an absolute delight. Helpful from start to finish and was attentive to our needs and didn't rush us out. THANK YOU. Extended stay was dealt with by receptionist perfectly this morning. Coffee in the lounge before leaving was good. Thank you, a great overnight stay.
Disgusting, room and corridors smelt, stains all over the carpet, dirty bathrooms clearly hadn't been cleaned properly. Bed was very old and no fridge in the room. The breakfast was extremely poor, just not edible. Parking is a nightmare and you will get fined if you don't put your reg in quick.
Really nice staff at this hotel, very helpful too. The rooms, including bathrooms, need a bit of updating. £130 a night and not including breakfast is quite poor to be honest but other than that, a perfectly decent hotel
A must for any London trips. No restaurant for evening meal but takeaways are encouraged with plates and cutlery provided. The staff on reception were by far the friendliest and most helpful staff I have ever had the pleasure to come across..
Welcoming friendly staff , rooms were clean and shower in good working order, as much tea and coffee as you like and little or no disturbance, really pleasant stay and would highly recommend this hotel.
We arrived hoping to park in the "limited spaces" the website advises of. This consisted of 2 spaces which had bollards and so we took the short trip to the Gade car park - which incidentally had an aroma of urine - the start to the stay hadn't gone very well but we were optimistic that it would get better on arrival. We walked in to a large reception and bar area which had a modern aesthetic. Check in was efficient with no fuss and the hotel took a £50 card holding payment (like a type of insurance payment I think). We were given directions to our first floor double room which was easy to find. Our bedroom also had a modern look, was very clean and had plenty of room and thr facilities were as expected. As we moved around the room we noticed the floor was VERY creaky which was a little strange for a hotel so you wer conciois of moving around at night. The bathroom was very dated but again was clean and did the job. Personal preference would be for there to be larger shower head and to replace the shower curtain with a screen because when it touches you it's very unpleasant. The bed itself was comfortable, if a little small for a hotel room. We had a good night's sleep other than the thin walls meaning that we could hear the people in the room next to us who were having a VERY GOOD TIME (if you get what I mean?!) - no reflection on the hotel though. The location was about a 15 minute walk to Watford Junction train station which worked well for us as we were heading into London. The walk took us through Watford Market which looked great. An 11am check out was a bonus for us after late night and again, check out was very efficient. I was assured that the £50 holding payment would be returned the same day. All in all, we had a good stay and the hotel met our needs.
Booked a single room for one night stay. Room was barely a box room it was that small. Bathroom had stains around wall that hadn't been cleaned. There was no phone in the room, even though it says there would be. Can hear loudly any time someone walks past the room, so could not get a good night's sleep. Bed was reasonably comfy, and the staff are friendly. I was only there overnight so wasn't in room much, but any longer and it would have been unbearable.
We stayed for two nights midweek in a large double room. Although at the basic end, the room was large and had everything we needed, including a comfortable bed and tea/coffee facilities. The walls let through some noise from the room next door but not too bad. The £9.99 breakfast was good value and as good as most hotels. The staff were friendly and efficient. Parking could be an issue if it was full but we found space so was no problem on this occasion. The bar was reasonable and had some comfortable seats. All in all, it was a good place to stay for a couple of nights and we will happily return if we need to stay in the area again.
The room walls are so thin, you can practically hear the people next door as if there is nothing between you. Unfortunately in my case, I had a very long and important day to prepare and rest for and my neighbours were incredibly loud doing their business recording an adult film. I was close to being physically sick. When I asked whether I could be moved, I was simply told I could not be accommodated as there were no more rooms available, but that my neighbours could be called and advised to keep it down. Given their activities, I hardly think they'd have listened. The smell in the lift and corridors was horrific. My stay for a grand total of 4 hours was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I'm so disappointed I wasted my money on a nights stay here that I couldn't see out and had to book elsewhere. I'd really like to be refunded for the experience but I'm not sure it's possible?
My second visit and I I will defiantly stay again. Great value, nice room, good breakfast, friendly staff, safe free parking. I booked direct with the hotel. Very convenient location, easy access to the town centre. The WiFi is fast and free and the rooms are well equipped and comfortable.
I Work looking after rough sleepers. Best Western Watford Took £260 pre-payment for an individual that I had booked in for a few nights due to freezing temperatures outside and wanting to keep them off the street. When they turned up the booked individual was turned away due to, and this is a direct quote, 'them smelling like raw sewage'. No refund given nor even entertained. This is after having rung up beforehand and being assured the individual would not be turned away. Incredibly unprofessional behavior from the hotel and staff, lacking all empathy and resulting in the individual being left to sleep on the street in minus 6 with no belongings. Disgraceful.
Choose to stay at the Best Western as I thought it would be as good or better than the Premier Inn (which we know). A decent breakfast is a high scoring event and Premier Inn is good but not great. BW breakfast is a farce in an inspiring cold venue. It is either frozen cooked pastries (left to go cold) or cooked breakfast allowed to sweat it out. If numbers are low, offer a chef's breakfast with buffet. Rooms are dated, hot water tried. Staff were very helpful and sorted out complicated parking. Not for me and next time not this hotel.
Stayed here on 2 very cold nights. good parking, pleasant reception staff, room ok except the room radiator would not control, only lukewarm and cold at bottom, bathroom radiator completely cold. Reported to reception 3 times, also stated whilst the radiators on 1st and 2nd floor corridors were cold ones on ground floor were very hot, on one occasion they sent maintenance to room who fiddled about with a spanner and said they would come on soon but never did, so had 2 cold nights when -5 outside. Would not stay here again in Winter.
We as a group of friends stayed here and booked one twin room and a family room. The receptionist informed us we couldn't stay because one of us was not a child FINE. We understood some hotels are anal about this so we agreed to book another room. however the DODGY RECEPTIONIST NAMED CHRISTIAN Had told us we were not allowed to book a room through the system and that we were to withdraw cash (£30 to be precise) for another room so that he could pocket the money!!!! He made us walk to a cash point at 2 o clock in the morning just so that one of us could have somewhere to sleep!! DISGUSTING. Clearly the hotel isn't paying him enough. We ended up giving him no money (ha-ha) BUT AVOID. The manager was unless and just copied and pasted the policy WHICH WE UNDERSTOOD and had no problem paying for a room the LEGAL way. No way was he pocketing our money. The manager massimo is usless as dismissed our complaint entirely. DO NOT BOOK HERE. DODGY DODGY DODGY
The staff did not know the best western reward scheme. The carpets were stained and threadbare. The room had a very unpleasant odour. The pillowcase had blood stains on it. There was noise from the room above during the night, and Loud noises at 05:30 from the dinning/breakfast room. More like a hostel. Very bad hotel
I would recommend this hotel for everything cleanliness, helpful friendly staff. Our room was ground floor and very quiet. I stayed in the best western Almere Netherlands; in June this year and we had a lovely room there as well. We are going to stick to Best Western for future holidays they are very good
Hotel looked promising room we were given was clean but had an awful smell of stale smoke. I alerted the staff and being late in the evening only offered a smaller room opposite which smelt the same. As did the lift and some of the halls. Tried to get a nights sleep although the walls are so thin you could hear neighbours droning voices. Although we tried to spray the room our clothes stank of smoke in the morning. The staff were quite blasé about the problem and other than change our room for the second night offered no compensation of any kind. We declined having lost faith in the hotel. Booking. com intervened and got the second night cancelled. I wouldn't stay again. You decide maybe you'll have better luck than us but be warned you won't get much help from the staff.
The rooms and the hotel do not look like the photos on the website. While the staff are friendly and the rooms have clean towels and bedding, the facilities are very tired and are in desperate need of a refresh. The carpets were stained and the beds were so soft, it seemed like they didn't have any springs in the mattress. The bathrooms were very unappealing - and interestingly there aren't any photos of them on the website. We had a special deal which meant we only paid £135 for 3 rooms for one night - but I was still really disappointed. The breakfast was below average too. However, I don't think it would take too much to make this into a good hotel - new mattresses, clean the carpets, refurb the bathrooms and a better breakfast.
Check in was pretty straightforward; thank you to Durgesh and Liban for recognising my platinum elite membership status. The room was large and clean. Slight issue with some of the fixtures in the bathroom, namely the toilet roll holder and shower head where were loose (poor quality of fittings). Christian was also exceptional with great customer service. Check out was slightly complicated as there was some miscommunication about the breakfast "offer".
I enjoyed staying here. Clean and comfortable room. Friendly and welcoming staff. Free parking. Quiet . Good nights sleep. Excellent value. Book direct with the hotel for best rates. Would stay again. A pleasant stay in central location.
Good stop for the weekend enjoyed a visit to Watford for socialising back to hotel late welcomed by the night staff who served drinks prior to bed. Breakfast next morning was satisfactory and enjoyed , staff good
At first look the hotel seemed to be in a good place, however on arrival it is situated on a main road, We were welcomed quite nicely by the reception staff, the disabled space we had reserved was taken up by a works van so we had to park further along the road. The room was ok but quite dated, it was clean and tidy, the bathroom however was quite dated and there were signs of black mold around the bath, we never used the shower because of this. on the upside breakfast was nice and well presented but could have been hotter. Pam was great and was very attentive. They do not do evening meals. Our first night was spoilt by other guests who were quite noisy, the second night was better, but the rooms would benefit with double glazing to keep out the noise of the traffic. Altogether it was a good stay, and the hotel is only a short walk from Watford town centre.
We were going to concert at Wembley and most hotels near the stadium were fully booked of expensive so changed our plans to drive to Watford and get tube in . Got their around 1.00 p.m. , rooms were ready which was helpful . Slight problem finding car park which is sort of round corner at rear of building but plenty spaces. As they say on website 15 minutes walk to tube and really just down 2 long roads . Room very spacious with lovely comfy big bed . Very clean great breakfast would recommend certainly if you were going to Wembley. About 25 minutes on tube .
We came for a cheap couples get away while mid coitus the bed moved across the room it made it very hard to maintain stability during the act my partner nearly fell off the bed twice The room was clean and parking was sufficient it's near a wether spoons so breakfast on site or away is entirely up to you. Staff were pleasant and very helpful although asking them to hold the bed while I finished the job felt like a push. Just a suggestion don't put wheels on a bed on a hard floor.
Please don't stay in this hotel. My last visit in May ended with a parking ticket from Parking Eye. I didn't even park their ! Car Park was full, parked up for 14 mins to check in & deposit baggage before moving car. Parked in a proper car park in town for £4. Then received a parking ticket from Parking Eye - apparently 5 mins is more than enough time to check in & move car!! They say I should have keyed in car reg into machine - I would have if I had parked there!! Appealed to POPLA - no chance, they are in the pocket of Parking Eye. Now £100 out of pocket due to Best Western employing cowboys to extract every last penny. No common sense whatsoever. I could stay at Best Western Watford 20 times on business in next 9 months - no chance - I have instructed my company not to book this hotel. The Parking issue is one major gripe, but the quality of the Hotel in general is just not the same as the alternatives available in Watford. I prefer to stay in a Hotel with a friendly welcome after a long day at work!
Had a one night stay here for a trip into London. Easy to find. Has parking which is a bonus these days although it is first come first served so get there early. It's within easy walking distance of Watford Junction so use it as a base if you're going into the city. Decent rooms and good breakfast the following morning (pre book on arrival it's cheaper) Special mention given to the woman on breakfast duty (think her name was Pat, evidently been there a lot of years) breath of fresh air on a morning. Also although this hotel insist on the "swipe of a credit card" process, they do take good old fashioned cash money which stops any fuss with your credit card Would I stay again...yes
This may be the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in, which is credit to housekeeping and the management. However, I stayed in the hot summer of July 2022 and this hotel has no air-conditioning in the rooms, and that meant it was a sauna. The windows are prevented from opening wide and the only respite from heat is that a fan is provided, which did no more than churn the heat in the room. I found the bed to be overly soft and the mattress material was clearly a foam-base as it also reflected heat. If you like a firm mattress, this isn't for you!! All in all glad I only had a one night stay, and would not book again in summer, and with the soft bed, not my thing. I would not stay here in future.
Our room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and attentive. We were very happy with our stay, and certainly would go back if in the area again.Great location for concerts at Wembley Highly recommended
Welcoming, helpful and friendly staff, very clean facilities, good variety of breakfast. Free Wi-Fi. Free car park. Easy access to London. Walking distance to Tube station. Great value for money. Highly recommended
I have stayed here several times, it's always been ok but just lacking something. Just recently though everything is much smoother, I look forward to staying here again when I next visit our head office!
The staff at this property are great! They all went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. The rooms were clean, very comfortable and overall I had a wonderful experience. I would definitely use this hotel again in the future!
We stayed here a week ago and I have nothing but praise for this hotel. Hotel staff very friendly and welcoming from the minute we arrived and that didn't falter through our 2 night stay We stayed in Rooms no 8 &9 which were lovely and clean with nice modern bathrooms. The bar area was nice and comfy and chilled. It didn't have a vast choice of drinks but prices were reasonable. I definitely would stay again!
Great hotel, all staff were lovely and very helpful. Excellent location in Watford very close to high street. 15 min walk to multiple train stations. Great value for money. Room was nice. Would definitely stay again. Bathroom was very new and decorated nicely.
Totally fine for a place to sleep for the night - nothing more, nothing less! WiFi connection was bad and the hotel had an odd atmosphere, almost like I was one of the only guests! Staff were nice and helpful. Having £50 pre-authorised on my card was off-putting at the start - implied the hotel doesn't trust their guests!
Stayed for 2 nights for a Wembley event, couldn't fault the hotel and staff. Rooms were big and comfy, bathroom was spacious just a little dated but everything worked fine. Staff were lovely and very helpful when needed. Brilliant location for the clubs and shops close enough to walk but not to close to near it all. Overall had a lovely stay and will definitely be coming back. Thank you.
Stayed here for one night whilst attending an event at a Wembley stadium. It was 15 mins walk through the park to the station so really convenient. Direct overground service to Wembley Park on the metropolitan line. Car park was free to use and enough spaces. We arrived early and were accommodated for an early checkin which we appreciated it after the drive down. Room was good, basic and bathroom huge but dated. This is perfect clean room for a nights stay. Breakfast was a full English buffet, very tasty. We'll definitely stay here again for Wembley visits.
We stayed here Saturday night, hotel was clean, functional, basic and staff were very friendly However in the morning, check out was not till 11, housekeeping were in the hall way outside our door shouting up the hallway at 9am!!! If I hadn't been so tired I would've gone to the door and told her to keep it down! There was no need for her to be shouting at 9am on a Sunday in a hotel where people go to SLEEP. Also, the hotel take a £50 depsit and says you'll have it returned within 14 days! 14 days !!!! Is far too long to wait for money to just sit in their accounts. Won't be staying again but hotel wasn't too bad and close to town
I was staying at the Best Western due to it's great location close to Watford High Street & because it was a 10-15 minute walk to the Hospital where I was visiting my Mother. The Hotel staff are very helpful & the rooms are a nice size with all the amenities you would need for a short visit. They don't serve meals, except Breakfast, due to the close proximity to the High Street which has a lot of options for eating out or Takeaway. It's a nice Hotel & would stay again in better circumstances on my next visit to Watford
this hotel is nicely placed just outside watford town centre and about a 1 mile walk to the tube station or main line railway , beds are very comfortable so not much rocking to get to sleep , the staff are always welcoming and pleased to see you check in is quick and easy , only fault i have found is the wii fi is very intermittant in rooms will have a nice signal and then no signal at all maybe a stronger router or boosters in the hall ways will help , but apart from that i cant find any problems with this hotel
Don't judge a book by its cover as this hotel doesn't look much from outside, but I once inside, the place is clean and functional. Good staff and manager. Rooms are clean and a great buffet breakfast is available in the morning. Would definitely return when needing good value in Watford
My husband and I stayed here on Saturday 18th December 2021 after a friends wedding. The room was booked via our friends' wedding website, gettingmarried.com and we received booking confirmation via hotelplanner.com. The room rate was £69. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told the booking had been cancelled due to a failed prepayment. This is despite the booking confirmation stating that no prepayment was required before arrival. We also had received absolutely no communication regarding the room being cancelled and were not given the opportunity to make any required payments before the room was cancelled. Nevertheless we were in a position where we needed a room to sleep in, and were charged the rate of £108. We challenged this at the time but were met with the most careless “customer service” I've ever come across and we were essentially ignored. We called Best Western customer services today to make a complaint and request a refund for the difference. Having explained the situation a frustrating amount of times, and being told the room was booked through booking.com (which it absolutely was not!), and we should contact booking.com to resolve the issue, we are still no further ahead. We have spoken with customer services and the hotels deputy general manager directly and we are being consistently told that they had notified booking.com of the cancellation and we should've received a notification as a result of that. Need I say again that we did not book through booking.com, nor did I have any email of any sort from booking.com. My husband and I are left feeling incredibly frustrated. This is not our fault and asking for the £40 difference back should be no issue to such a huge hotel brand like Best Western. This is clearly an issue in the system between the hotel and their booking agents, yet we are facing the price for that. It seems all values in “customer service” have gone completely out the window. No one has even started to try and understand our situation or used any form of good will to resolve the problem.
I booked in a stay for my daughter. We didn't know for how long it was going to be for and I virtually had to call every day to extend her stay. I would just like to say how nice the staff were to me and to her. Raj the manager and to Jane on reception a big THANK YOU. Robin
Lovely clean room , nice and warm , powerful shower . A very convenient location , just a five minute walk to Watford shopping centre , restuarants and bars etc. Parking available on a first come first served basis which was easily accessable . Friendly staff and all in all a lovely weekend . This was our first stay here but it wont be our last !! Thank You .
I would NOT recommend. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything, including someone's phone getting a text on silence. Someone was pacing around the corridor at early hours of the morning talking to themselves and the floorboards made it sound like the room door was opening. Someone was throwing furniture and making loud crashing noises at early hours of the morning. The condition of the hotel made this all sound like it was happening IN my room. The rooms were dirty, the toilet was evidently not cleaned as we were greeted by the past guests remains. There was a toenail on the bed. There were marks everywhere and the carpet dirty and stained.
Don't stay here! Locals have told me of its reputation, sadly only after my stay! The walls are paper thin, there was excessive, all night noise, for two nights in a row. It was impossible to sleep. The staff are great - but there is little they can do manage such mad levels of noise. You can here every detail of conversations in the next room, televisions and more!
Stayed last Saturday. Shocked by the state room 19 was in. Black bits in the bath, 3 large stains on the carpets. Hotel takes a £50 damage deposit from each room at check in and takes 14 days to be refunded after check out. Yet the carpets in our room were disgusting!! Breakfast lukewarm and not topped up regularly at busy times. Very average with poor room presentation and carpet cleaning. Wouldn't return
Staff friendly and helpful hotel clean rooms had everything except hairdryer ! Hotel was very accommodating and we're determined to make sure guests were happy. Hotel cannot be responsible for what goes on outside in surrounding areas but as it's a London hotel in Watford town then some noise is to be expected . We had a lovely stay even though some other guests were noisy and selfishly didn't think of others. We certainly would stay there again . Any chance hotel could buy the car washing site at back of hotel to create more parking ? That would be a bonus ! Breakfast was good - hash browns need better cooking to crisp them up ! But plenty on offer and as much as you can eat. Rooms could do with a little packet of biscuits with your early morning tea but all was good.
Had a very good couple of nights at this hotel, quiet restful, staff particularly efficient and helpful and would highly recommend - only wish is That it would've been much less expensive. I Found the overall price quite steep Considering this was a self-funded business trip
Can't fault this hotel. The staff couldn't do enough for us, in particular the gentleman who checked us in & out, he was very welcoming & helpful. We stayed for 1 night, ideally located for the train into London - we walked to the station which took us around 10 mins. Also ideally located for Warner Bros Tour which we went to on the Sunday. We arrived too late to get into the car park however the hotel text us before we arrived to let us know it was full, and to direct us to the car park around the corner for which we got a concession from reception, £4 for 24hrs. Had a good nights sleep!
Smashing little hotel, cheap, clean close to Watford high street and some lovely little places to eat, Opuz and L'arista staff really helpful and friendly breakfast good too full English buffet ideal base for Harry Potter tour. Car park a little small but they held space for me with having a blue badge
This is probably our 25th year staying at The White House and as ever it was brilliant. Thankyou Jane and the team. The check in was speedy, room clean and tidy. Plastic cups in the room not brilliant but Covid friendly. Check out was swift. Overall Hospitality was amazing as we have come to expect.
Do not stay here if you want a good nights sleep! Walls are paper thin. Other guests was running and shouting down the corridors. Rap music was playing loudly outside in cars with a gangs fighting. The bathroom is out dated and there is no hair dryers provided.
stayed here for one night on recent trip to watford really good location 3/4 min walk from high street check in was prompt and efficient..room was decent size and well appointed...bed was large and very comfortable theres a small bar in the reception area with moretti on draught £6 a pint we had the breakfast buffet which in truth was very good...would certainly stay here again when visiting watford
My son really liked this hotel. The lady serving breakfast was exceptionally attentive and very efficient. We would stay at this hotel again, it's convenient for the town centre and a short drive to Warner Brothers Harry Potter tour.
Great hotel, fantastic location and free parking. Staff were excellent, friendly and very efficient. The car park was blocked due to road works however we were given extremely detailed instructions on how to reach the car park as it involved driving around a town we were unfamiliar with. The room was very clean, everything worked, great shower.
Ok, so positives, most of the staff where helpful and polite. And the shower pressure is good. That's about it. The building looks like it has had a slight refurb recently, however, every new carpet is about as flat as the Himalayas. We nearly fell over in the bar, twice and again in the corridor to the room. The bedroom floor was flat. However the carpet hadn't been changed for 40 years and had the stains, bleach marks and indentations to prove it. None of the bathroom utilities have been replaced, all are 1970s green. The TV didn't have the main channels, no BBC, ITV or anything. There was no ventilation in the bathroom, therefore after one shower it became a steam room. Breakfast was meant to be a buffet, but was served without the choice of food, straight from the kitchen. The Pain au chocolat was raw in the middle as well, and the coffee was vile. I wouldn't recommend again
Can't fault it. Beautiful breakfast . Lots of choice. Friendly staff, especially Pam, who helps at breakfast. Lovely lady who goes above and beyond! Clean rooms and comfy beds! Would highly recommend. Few minutes walk to Watford town centre.
I visit the Harry Potter Studio Tour London 2/3 times a year using this hotel every time. The staff are amazing and after staying there so often they feel like extended family you see once or twice a year.
I would highly recommend this hotel. My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding near by. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel at home. Neil Patel on reception was awesome, he went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable during our stay - management please give him a pay rise. The rooms were clean and a great location close to all the amenities. YNWA.
Really good ambience about this hotel, very good first impression when you walk through the front doors. Easy check in, good bar/seating area. Rooms very large, superb bathroom, does the job, close to city centre bars/restaurants e.t.c.
Pretty place, very quiet location, yet close to all the shops and bars! Cousin and I shared a front facing twin room. Bathroom clean and neat, beds lovely and comfy. Sundries provided for drinks etc. Couple of stains on the carpet but didn't expect the Ritz at that price. Staff we encountered all lovely. Very happy to recommend.
We had read some of the reviews. So we arrived with our own pillows. Hasn't stopped my back from hurting. Staff were all very nice and professional. The breakfast is £7.99. Take the money and go into Watford with it. The breakfast is cheap and nasty. No flavour. There are better out there The problem is when I go away the breakfast is the highlight of my trip. For the first time ever we avoided it!! The shower had no door so if you went into the bathroom while someone was showering you do get splattered Would I stay here again....... no never Very cheap not cheerful
Stayed here one night to visit Warner Bros studios, about 10 minute drive away. Sat nav takes you to the front of the hotel, small car park at the back but there is a multi storey very nearby. We were warmly greeted, everything very Covid secure, clean and tidy. We were a party of 3 in one room which was very spacious and clean. Full English Breakfast was very nice and no charge for children. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.
We were in Watford for a few days looking at accommodation so were looking for a cheap hotel, the White House met the brief. The room we stayed in was modern however the bathroom was a little tired. It was not the cleanest room we have stayed in with a hair under the pillow. A hair dryer was available from reception. Parking was free of charge, we stayed midweek and were able to find a parking space every evening. It is ideally located for walking into Watford town centre. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Overall, you get what you pay for and as a budget hotel it is as good as expected.
Second stay at Best Western White House, this time a little different due to Covid. Cannot fault this hotel at all, it is amazing value for money, in a great location and the staff are always very welcoming, friendly and cannot do enough for you really. Felt very safe staying throughout the pandemic and the changes they have put in place are really good. The room was wonderful, very clean and had everything you would need. Extremely comfortable bed, always a bonus. Will stay again when visiting Watford.
Very clean and tidy reception and the staff on duty were friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately due to covid 19 facilities were very limited. No hot food available but they allowed you to bring in food from out side if you wanted. No glasses or disposable cups in the bathroom. The bed was too soft for my liking and unfortunately the pillows are like bricks. So both mornings I awoke with a stiff neck. The bedding and towels were lovely. Also due to covid 19 the lifts were not in use so we had to walk up all the stairs to go up and quite a few doors its rather a maze of rooms.
When the cab pulled up I was not expecting much, it's not very appealing from the roadside. On entering though the staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome. Check in was very quick and the staff were asking me about my journey and seemed genuinely interested in me. The only downside is no air conditioning, but how many times do we have a heatwave!!
We had a fantastic stay. This was made all the better by Jane. She was brilliant. She was the definition of wonderful service. She understood own needs and her best to accommodate our needs. It is her professionalism and caring nature makes us definitely looking to book there again in future. Thank you
If anyone is looking for a place to stay weather it's one night or more , for leasure or business then Best Western White House Hotel is the right place for you, good friendly environment and the staff is always there to offer all the help needed. I give them 100 %
I have stayed a few times now and have got to know a few of the staff really well. Everyone is really chatty and nothing is a problem. Using uber ears to order food is so good that it makes it a reason to stay over other hotels with limited food choices. Rooms are large and comfortable plenty of space in the bathrooms. There are two things that if you were being picky... One is the parking is sometimes full so you park across the road in a multistorey but that can be normal at other hotels. The breakfast lacks choice but again a really small thing. 5 out of 5 for everyone and everything.
We had occasion to stay at the White House recently to attend a funeral. It was a few years since we had last stayed there and there has been much improvement. The rooms were clean and spacious, the staff were excellent and the breakfast couldn't have been better. Overall very good value for money.
Stayed her for a night as was out in town for a birthday party. The staff are very friendly and will help with anything they can. The hotel is clean and was just what we needed for a nights stay. The bed was large and very comfortable. Had a good nights sleep. The parking is a bit difficult to find and can do with a sign post that is easily visible, as the directions given to the car parking is not clear at all. We didn't have breakfast or dinner, so can't comment on that.
My wife and I have stayed here a couple of times during the past and we are always made feel welcome. The hotel is very well located for shopping, socialising and the staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are spacious & clean. The breakfast is very good, with a wide selection of dishes. Would highly recommend this hotel for all types of visitors!
Stayed from 12-15 Feb. booked single room, free upgrade to a double withouth asking! Room was modern and was recently decorated, nice. Bathroom had been freshened up but the mustard yellow suite was old/ dated and the shower ran from the bath taps- BUT, really clean and not a problem (daughter had the superking room and they had a lovely modern walk in shower, as well as a larger room. Good value for money, staff really helpful and friendly. Only downside was the lack of parking, managed just about mid week but struggled at the weekend. Staff did their best to help arranging for us to park on the pavement part next to the hotel. Pay and display car park 5 minutes away, but the hotel were able to offer a discount.
Arrived Saturday evening, check in was quick and the receptionist was very friendly and polite. Bar area and reception was very smart and modern. We made our way to our room, room was spacious, bed was comfy and room temp was good. Shower wasn't powerful but rest of the bathroom was fine. Price of hotel was reasonable, check out was quick but 12 would of been a better departure time for us than eleven. All in all a good stay.
At first I thought the downside to staying here was no restaurant or car parking but in reality neither were a problem. There is a multi story 3 minutes over the road which is £4 for 24 hours, and plenty of choice for places to eat a 10 minute walk onto Watford highstreet. The welcome at reception was 1st class and they were more than happy to recommend where to eat too. I will be more than happy to stay here again because it is well located, has a warm and friendly atmosphere and is very comfortable.
We booked the Hotel for an overnight stay as travelling away fans. From the moment we arrived we was greeted by Faswan on reception who was very attentive and extremely polite. He dealt with us superbly. The hotel is lovely and modern and the rooms perfect. Breakfast was excellent with a good variety. We will definitely return as we was made to feel very welcome and the staff do a fantastic job
Good clean modern hotel. I am self employed so I was glad of the great value too. The real asset of the hotel is their staff who could not be more helpful. I needed help with late check in and out and extended car parking. Nothing was too much trouble for the hotel.
This was just one of many nights we have away attending modern jive events, this one however was not particularly good. The night in the room was. Very large bed and all the facilities we become have accustomed to, however the shower was not that good.
Overall the hotel was basic however clean and comfortable. Bathroom decor was very outdated however was very clean and bedroom was generally a good size. Breakfast was poor. On the first morning, I asked for a veggie sausage and when I received it, it was still frozen. The next two mornings they had none left. The rest of the breakfast items were cold and/or seemed as if they had been reheated, as well as other cold breakfast items which had clearly been standing around for a few days. There was no coffee on two of the three mornings, only instant from a packet and I had a dirty glass for juice one morning. On the plus side, Pam who served breakfast was very attentive and friendly. The hotel is in a good location to the high street and a short walk to the train station (either Watford High Street, or Watford Junc). Parking on site was convenient if you get a space however if not, the multi storey is only across the road and the hotel gives a discount making it £4 per day which I thought was very reasonable.
Close to all Watford nightlife. Excellent service. Lovely room and comfortable bed. Clean. What more could you want?! Very quier also considering just how close the hotel is to the watford nightlife. Thanks
Staff are rude and do not state why they take the pre authorisation charge. They tell you it's a deposit in case there is damage to the property. This was not the case and they sneakily kept the deposit without informing me , when I phoned in to enquire the receptionist was rude and didn't cooperate whatsoever. I will NEVER be returning and advise others to NOT book this hotel.
Room was very cosy, bed linen fresh and overall it was nice experience. Could not find entrance to the carpark, but staff very kind and explained how to get there. Breakfast hot and fresh and nicely presented. Would stay again.
A very clean hotel with excellent staff who provided a very high standard of service. The breakfast was good quality and freshly cooked. The hotel is a good base for the Harry Potter tour or London. Overall excellent.
Great hotel for the price. Parking wasn't immediately clear where it was but a quick stop in reception and they directed me straight to the car park which was easy to find. I stayed here whilst I worked in the area and wouldn't definitely stay again. Personally ticked all my boxes. Simple, straight forward but everything I needed was there. Staff was great! Thank you
This hotel is good value for money, and you can avoid the crowds of London while being close by train to London. There are lots of business travellers at this hotel so it is generally quiet, but sometimes you get noisy guests late at night, so be warned.
We stayed here on New Year's Eve. The room walls are paper thin and you can here a small noise such as a cough from the rooms to the side and above you. We got to sleep at 7 in the morning due to a very loud party group at the side of us. We asked for another room at 3am after still no sleep and nothing could be done . All that was done was a knock on the other room and even then the noise got louder. I would highly recommend that you should NOT stay here
We stayed at this hotel on the 5th December and have a great stay. We arrived early, but they allowed us into the room before 2.00pm. The room was clean and tidy and we found the staff excellent and very helpful. The breakfast was excellent - nice buffet style - and although we got there around the end of breakfast, the food was still fresh and they asked us if we wanted anymore before they took it away. It is very close to Watford town centre and we are already looking at booking it again next year. Would recommend this hotel after the stay we had.
Terrible rooms. Terrible staff. Modern front but dated unclean rooms. Inedible breakfast over cooked or undercooked dryed out cold presented. Cleaners need more up to scratch standards on cleaning and providing customers with decent standard cleaner rooms with the bedding an towels. Having to clean your own room for the price your paying is not good service. Do not visit.
Although we were staying for 5 nights and I am a frequent guest at BWs, they stuck my wife and I into a room above the boiler room. We did not sleep due to the heat! Rooms are very dirty and bathrooms especially outdated. There is not sufficient cleaning staff, our room was not cleaned at all one day of our stay, no towels, we had to call to have the towels replaced. This is a 1 star, for 120 BPounds ($160 USD) a night , there are many other options available in the area with far better amenities. Good location however.
We stayed here for my sisters wedding lovely hotel staff lovely rooms clean breakfast was great too beds could do with an update maybe king-size too parking spaces are limited so get there early we phoned ahead to check if room was ready
Parking was limited but the staff were very helpful and found me a small space on the frontage. Outside of that there are many corporation car parks near by. Parking is often a problem with town centre hotels, it's just something we deal with, it's not a reflection on the hotel. My room was warm and clean and the tea making facilities were good. The hotel has a basic bar but doesn't have restaurant; however, the staff will organise for 'just eat' to deliver a takeaway of your choosing. There are hundreds of bars, restaurants and takeaways on the high street (which is just around the corner) so I walked out for a Lebanese kebab which I ate in the hotels lounge with a couple of glasses of wine. In the morning the breakfast room served cereals, fruit, toast and such and a cooked breakfast, buffet style. Everyone was very friendly and I enjoyed my stay
Lovely hotel and great staff. Disability parking poor. 1st come 1st served. Ground floor 2 single beds. No restaurant in evening hard to know where to go. Did provide take away menu. Breakfast was excellent
The hotel is okay but nothing special and can't say I'd recommend. They also advertise they have parking but they have very limited spaces so be aware of this if planning to drive. Room was average, breakfast very average. I've stayed at nicer places in the vicinity for a similar price so I'd advice looking around.
My partner and I came here out of convenience as it was close to the tube station, so we could easily travel. We went for the NFL football game, stayed 2 nights. Those 2 nights were awful. When we first arrived, the whole bedroom was dated, particularly the bathroom. It was so unsanitary, there were black hairs all around the sink and countertop. The bathtub had dark stains, which went away after a good spray-down from the shower. The fan was broken, tissue box had 5 tissues in it, which were clearly just shoved in after being removed. I would've preferred to sleep outside on grass. Bare in mind that you also won't be able to have any privacy, you can hear people's conversations through the walls and vice versa ! Enjoy
We stayed here for 2 nights as we were going to a concert at the colesseum. What a lovely hotel this is. The room was beautifully clean & the bed was comfortable. The staff were very helpful & courteous. Breakfast was hot ,nicely cooked & presented. It is so conveniently located for the town & within walking distance of the colesseum. We would certainly stay here again.
The Staff were very friendly and effective. The rooms were comfotuble and clean. The wifi was free and fast. The bast part for me living in France is full English breakfast!!!! City centre location. I will be back.
We stayed here for a Friday/Sat night. Booked for a party of 13 and they were more than accommodating of our large group. Travel cot was provided for my little niece. Beds were comfortable and cosy, I'm always too hot in hotel rooms but my parents assured me it was easy enough to change the temp and their room was very comfortable. Room was spotless and clean towels were provided, as well as shower gel/shampoo and a hairdryer. Reception desk couldn't have been more helpful when I requested they speak to the room next to us who had their TV up very loud keeping my 2 year old awake at 11pm. When they didn't answer their room phone, the gentleman on the desk was straight up to their room and they turned it right down. Breakfast in the morning is well worth paying for. Lovely selection of hot food which they keep taking and replenishing. Selection of fruit juices and water, plus fruit salad, yoghurt, mini muffins, cereals etc. They also have a sign saying you can request Gluten Free toast. Front desk couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. They even booked us a taxi to come and collect us from the airport to save the hassle of train/bus. Train station is quite close though, so my brother and his wife walked it with their 4 kids. Hotel is a great location for shops and restaurants. In town there is a shopping centre with bowling and a cinema, there are numerous places to eat in the High Street, we went for a 5 Guys but I also spotted Nandos and a TGI Fridays to name just 2 others. And obviously this hotel is the perfect location for the Harry Potter Studios Tour. There is a bus for £5 each (if I remember correctly) that you can get from Watford Junction or it's about £15 in a taxi. Haven't checked I've got my £50 room deposit back yet but I'm assuming I will have as everything else has been hassle free.
1 Night stay in October This is my first time staying at a Best Western hotel and I'm wondering why I have never stayed at this chain before!!! The hotel is a smooth 10 min walk from Watford Junction Station, staff are very friendly and room was spotless! There were no irons supplied in the rooms so request this when checking in if needed. The only disappointing things were, there is NO food served at the hotel so please eat out, I also found it VERY strange having to reconfirm my details including my name, address, contact number even though this was a paid booking!! I still rate this experience 5/5 based on the service and quality of rooms at this hotel!!
The service was great but the room quality for this room was bad muy mum stayed in a different room and loved it I have stayed in this hotel before and never had an issue breakfast was lovely staff really friendly
Lovely central place to stay. Staff were lovely! Car park is small, we couldn't park one night and the receptionist kindly moved her car from the front of the hotel. Nothing was any trouble, we had extra blankets and towels. My baby son loved the hotel and staff were so kind to him. Good breakfast in the hotel. Hotel is in the town, 5 min walking distance! Worth staying! Thumbs up from me!
We actually had a nice stay here - the place was clean and the staff were very helpful - until of course it came to returning our deposit - and then they couldn't care less. We were only informed when we arrived of the £50 deposit for the room (save me the spiel about it being made clear on your website - it's not). We paid the £50 and were told it would be back within a few days providing there was no damage - with the warning it can take up to 14 days - "usually only on overseas bankcards". Well - it's 28 days later and I'm still waiting for the money to be returned to me. There was no damage to the room - in fact the hotel aren't even claiming that. They're just denying any responsibility at all. Every time I call I get some flippant 'you really need to ask your bank' or 'just send us an email' response. They really don't care & I'm left chasing my own money. It's not the amount - it's the total nonchalance with which I'm greeted every time I call that is most troubling. So I guess what I'm saying is take the £50 in cash - or stay somewhere that won't withhold your hard earned money from you!
we stayed here for 1 night before we flew from Heathrow the hotel looks like it had just been renovated and is much nicer inside than it looks our room was fine and the bathroom was huge with a full size bath it was only a 5 minute walk to the nightlife and shops my only complaint was a very noisy couple who were arguing next door until the early hours I rang reception who then rang their room (i could hear the phone ringing) they stayed mostly quiet after that
We stayed one night after visiting the WB Harry Potter Studio tour as it's not too far away and has it's own car park. The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the central part of Watford so easy access to restaurants and bars. The hotel itself is clean and pleasant. The staff are very friendly. Yes we had to pay a £50 security deposit but it's only held and is returned to you. The rooms are clean and simple for what you need. I thought the bed was incredibly comfortable, I had a great nights sleep! The breakfast was good, your standard cooked breakfast items and a few continental items. All in all it was a good experience.
Pretty poor hotel, bathrooms don't look to have been decorated in 30 years, rooms far too hot to sleep (even though it was cool outside), walls so thin you can hear everything going on in the room next door, building work going on outside the hotel which starts very early and goes on all day, no safe in the room, bed very uncomfortable
We stayed here for 2 nights and had one of the newly refurbished rooms on the ground floor which was clean and spacious although it was very hot. The reception staff were always really friendly and helpful. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel and I don't believe it serves any other meals than this. The location is very convenient to town. Parking is limited.
I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past 12 months, only on this occasion was I asked to pay a £50 damage deposit (even though they said that this is charged every time), I have never been asked to pay this before and wasn't advised of this before arriving at the hotel. During my stay at this hotel (after paying the damage deposit) the toilet seat broke (this has never happened in the past) and none of the £50 was refunded, this seems excessive! The other guests were also very loud and sleeping was difficult
The hotel is about a fifteen minute walk from Watford junction station, and the shuttle bus to the Harry Potter tour, which is why we chose this hotel. Somewhere between twenty and forty minutes to get into euston by train. I assume the hotel has amended practice based on previous reviews as we did receive an email before hand explaining about limited parking and the deposit to cover the room. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful when we arrived, I would suggest for future that maybe guest are emailed with details of where the car park is before arriving. As we originally parked in front of the hotel, then had to move the car and the junction can be a little busy at times. We had no issues with noise or disturbances during our stay here. I enjoyed the breakfast, it was unhurried and peaceful, the lady in the room again was friendly and helpful. All items are marked with allergens and gluten free bread was available on request. Just as a side note for the Harry Potter fans who enjoy a walk, it is about an hours walk to the studio tour with footpaths and appropriate crossings along the walk
Booked two nights via the Expedia website The Expedia website stated it had parking and this is the reason I chose to book this hotel I emailed the hotel and they replied the parking is first come first served basis and limited I feel a more accurate discription should be available on booking sites of the true nature of the hotels parking facilities I was then told at hotel I had to pay a further £50 deposit against potential damage It was returned 3.5 days after check out Hotel staff were very pleasant and for that reason I would return now I'm clued up in the runnings of the hotel Walls of hotel were very thin could her people talking next door and in room above This did interfere with my sleep pattern
I can honestly say the one night I stayed at this hotel was the worst experience of my life.(Room 112)(was supposed too stay for two nights). I know that is a grand statement but that is the magnitude of how bad our stay was which all started out so well. We were greeted by a friendly concierge who checked us in early after our 4 hour drive and directed us too the free car park behind the back of the hotel. I believe the hotel has recently been refurbished however the bathrooms have been left untouched. We arrived back for an early night (10.30pm)before our trip too Harry Potter early the following morning. I may have got 3 hours sleep that night. The noise coming from next door was unbearable. Yes I do think they were excessively loud as I stated when I contacted reception about midnight but too also hear a mobile phone ringtone like it was your own suggested the walls were paper thin. There was a conjoining door in the room that suggested they once may have been one room. I'd say it was rowdy up until about 1 AM but that was not the end of it after contacting reception I thought they may given the room a visit instead they just rang as I heard the phone ring in the room. We felt quite vulnerable after this after being semi asleep we heard the paramedics arrive next door as there was 5 people in the room inc paramedics and hotel staff. I do understand one of the guests having a alcoholic infuelled fit is out of there control but they showed no consideration as the room became louder than it ever had been. I thought one of the staff might have asked too keep it down as much as possible in consideration of other guests but not. It sounded like they were in the room with us. A long 2 hours later the gentleman was taken to hospital( 2 hours wide awake). If we hadn't have had been visiting the studios the following day I think we would have left during the night. We packed up and decided we would check out before we went too the studios. On presenting our key card and asking too checkout early the woman on reception presented it too her colleague (obviously aware of what had happened and me contacting reception during the night) we then asked for a full refund however it was stated we would only be refunded for the one night and a simple sorry. No real explanation very sheepish response. I would have appreciated a sincere apology. I wouldn't wish staying in this hotel on my worst Enemy. Go Somewhere Else.
You may be one who doesn't sleep at night and will enjoy all the revelling in the street outside. You may be one who loves the sound of traffic whizzing by all night. You may be one who enjoys taxi drivers shouting at their passengers as they drop them off. Or you may even love the sound of the guests who are demanding to be let in after midnight. If this is you then this is the place to be. If you find it hard to stay warm at night then go here - you will not be disappointed as you roll over on what feels like your rubberised mattress protector. If creaking floorboards are what turn you on, then you'll be able to lay there listening to the people above and next to you getting out of bed to go to the toilet. Or they may be creeping along the corridor outside your door every step music to your ears. In the morning you can approach the receptionist who dare not even ask if you've had a good stay because she is practiced in knowing the answer. You tell her anyway and she says, "you should have booked a quieter hotel goodbye."
we booked 2 rooms as we were coming from manchester to the Harry Potter Studios for my daughters birthday, so decided to stay overnight. I spoke to the staff beforehand and they were more than happy for me to send some birthdays banners for the room. thank you so much for making the effort to surprise my girl when she walk into the room. staff were all very kind and helpful. room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. breakfast really nice. location of the hotel is a 5minute walk to the centre, full of bars, restaurants & shops. absolutely no negative points about the stay. 100% will book this place again. thank you for everything.
Our room was a good size and very comfortable. The bathroom was more spacious than many other hotels we have stayed in. There were a few spaces in the car park but we had already parked in the nearby multi- story- Gade on Rosslyn St. This was secure - entry with ticket only and Best Western provided a ticket for a discounted overnight rate. If you want to park in the Best Western car park, go to Cassio Road to get to the car park. It was only a short walk to the Colosseum so ideal for us as we went to a concert there. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Excellent place to stay if doing the Harry Potter studio tour. Room was extremely clean and comfortable. Staff were really friendly. Could not fault the place. The whole hotel was clean and bright. Breakfast room lovely and bright too.
Regularly use Best Western hotels. The hotel was clean and comfortable and good to allow easy access to local transport whilst visiting Wembley stadium. The staff were very attentive. However, had the worst nights sleep I have ever had at a Best Western. The room was very warm and so to try and cool it down we had to open windows. The room like most at the hotel overlooks what turned out to be a very busy street (even on Sunday night) and the noise was unbearable. Chose to close them again and suffer the heat. Sadly I won't be staying again.
We stayed here with family whilst visiting Warner Bros Studios. We booked 3 rooms together and were put next to each other. All the rooms were clean and a good size. The staff were friendly. The hotel is central to the town with easy access to all restaurants. We didnt choose to have breakfast at hotel there are plenty of places to get a good breaksfast. There is a large car park at back of hotel but we had to go in to hotel to ask how to get to this.
Best hotel i've ever stayed. My room was really clean, staff were extremely kind and helpful. Lots of options to choose at breakfast. Parking with a car is a bit tricky, just ask for help in the reception.
Very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Room was comfortable and clean. Basic decor. Hotel is very near town centre so can be a bit noisy at night with the windows open. Breakfast had good choice and you could order porridge, vegetarian sausages and other eggs if you wished. Good selection of herbal and fruit teas.
Stayed here before visiting the Harry Potter studio tour. The hotel is easy to find, car parking is an issue. The car park at the hotel is quite small and most streets around the hotel are double yellows or resident parking. Staff were very nice and the rooms were very comfy.
Hotel is very reasonably priced, excellently located and very nice in terms of facilities. Firstly; a big thank you to the staff for altering our room last minute to allow for single beds (two lads staying together) We wanted to give a special thanks to the middle ages Scottish man (who's name I've forgotten, fuming) who was front of house on the night shift. We arrived back at the hotel at about midnight, and he was great, not only allowing us to stay and drink and eat late into the night, but basically provided free entertainment. Very funny and caring man but keeping the running of the ship at the same time. It was such a nice night, that we actually looked forward to heading back the next night. He allowed us to order a late night delivery and even provided a Fork n Knife. Will definitely be back if ever staying in Watford and he was really a lovely lovely man.
I can't speak highly enough of this hotel and if we ever visit Watford or nearby again we would DEFINITELY stay here! I can't honestly fault it and I'm trying to think of things! We (my husband and 11 year old daughter) were greeted by a fantastic lady called...forgotten her name!....it was a Saturday....she has worked there for about 20 years we were told......we arrived early evening after a day at Woburn Safari Park (see my review) so were tired and hungry....to cut a long story short, she was cheerful, warm, exceedingly friendly, polite, professional.....she helped us with our pizza orders online, brought us an iron and ironing board immediately when we asked for them...gave us extra milk and coffee/tea, a cup for our daughter when we asked for it....nothing was too much trouble....she clearly enjoys her job and is VERY good at it too! I hope the Manager recognises who she is as I want him/her to know how lucky they are to have her..... The hotel itself is modern, clean, with lovely artwork on the walls, our room was spacious and very clean....bathroom had great shower (though the gap in shower door allowed for lots of water to be splashed onto floor!)....lovely toiletries (fixed in so no freebies!)....the bed was a king size and that and double sofa bed our daughter had were very comfy....we all slept great.... The breakfast room was very pleasant and the breakfast itself was excellent....didn't look like there was much choice but there was! Cooked breakfast was lovely and there was fruit salad, pastries, cereals, toast....with fresh orange and apple juices with hot drinks....great service too, tables cleaned and cleared quickly....staff very efficient.... There you go.....an honest overview of a truly fabulous little hotel.....right in the heart of Watford too....keep up the good work and to the lovely lady we met, THANK YOU AGAIN!
Took me an hour to find initially as I was looking for a Best Great Western flag but after a call to the front desk a member of staff came and “found” me (directly outside as it happens but still “lost”) and directed me to the car park. Parking is quiet tight and impossible to find without help. No food available at 20:20 when I arrived and couldn't be bothered to walk into town to get anything although guest were allowed to get take-out and bring it back to eat in the dinning area. Breakfast was however available but due to early departure I didn't book it. Room was nice, huge bed, tea and coffee available in the room though only enough milk for 2 proper brews could of done with a bit more as Love a brew. Decent sized TV, good size bathroom shower nice and warm. In the morning the gentleman on the front desk helped me reverse out onto the main road which was really appreciated.
We often stay here when visiting family in Watford. It has a modern, European feel to it. The rooms are clean and the staff are helpful. Parking can be a bit difficult, but there is a multistorey if there are no spaces at the hotel.
Rooms, reasonable size for a short stay. No spare toilet rooms in the bathroom or two bath towels. Room was clean. Room stay cost average.Parking is an issue. Lobby area is acceptable, clean. Close to the centre of Watford.
i must admit i didnt read the reviews fully until i was about to leave for the hotel yesterday !. I did what we all do and read the bad reviews first and with that in mind i packed a electric fan and thought if it really wasnt as good as i thought i`d be prepared , but it exceeded my expectations in every way !. The hotel is in a fab location if you are heading to the high street for functions as its only 5 mins walk away. Its a little bit of a tardis type hotel looking small from the outside and much bigger on the inside. First thing i would do if i was staying here again is actually put the citi park car park in your sat nav and not the hotel as its lots of one way streets around there which caused us a bit if stress and when you find the car park the way in isnt clear. the entrance is the first ramp you see to the left of the building and it only costs £4 for over night if you tell the hotel. The room we had was spacious with a big king size bed and really clean. They do offer a fan in the room but it was hot so we needed the one we brought with us.All the staff there were really friendly and we didnt book breakfast but decided to have it in the morning without a problem. we didnt get asked to leave a card/deposit at reception as i`d seen others have been asked but this may have been due to us paying in full before we got there. All in all i would defo stay there again.
For the price we have paid I must say I am very disappointed with this place. The only pro is the location, 3 min walk to the center. However the rooms are very small, stuffy, no air, tiny bed for a “double”, lift not working, required to drag heavy suitcase up and down the stairs. Iron doesn't work. Over all experience I would give it a 4/10.
Came to this hotel as it was the cheapest in the area and we needed a stop over after a wedding. I was very impressed. For what you pay the rooms and breakfast are what you'd expect - basic, but clean and comfortable. I thought the lobby looked great and was very spacious. One thing to be aware of in this hotel is it doesn't have air conditioning. We stayed in 214 on the hottest day of the year and although they did provide excellent fans it just wasn't enough in that room, which felt like a sauna! This however ended up being where they really impressed me. Bleary eyed and unable to sleep I went down to reception at 1am to see if there is anything they could do. They instantly went and found us a much cooler room on the first floor and allowed us to move, even letting us take an extra fan. The man on reception was so kind about everything - it was such superior service. In fact all the staff we encountered were wonderful - relaxed, warm, friendly and showing genuine interest in us. In a basic hotel the service really is 5 star.
Very good sized double room at a sensible price. Nice lobby area with welcoming service. Small breakfast restaurant and for my stay all the breakfast items were freshly cooked and replenished. 10 minute (0.7 mile) walk to Watford tube on the Met line. Would definitely use again.
Spotless room in a convenient location, it was what I wanted for an extended stay. The staff couldn't have been kinder or more accommodating. They were wonderful! I think it a bit strange that a hotel wouldn't offer any drawers or shelves (except one high shelf) to unpack into. Only an exposed hanging rail. I also think a small fridge would be a great addition, especially since there's no restaurant in the hotel. I had a quiet room with no noise issues at all.
Lovely staff,,check in and out was good, creaky floor boards in the room, toilet roll holder not very close to toilet ,so u can't reach it,lots of noise from other guests during night.black hair in plug hole in bath not pleasant ,no information in room on how to work tv,or local restaurants/etc.
Spotlessly clean super friendly and helpful staff competitively priced this hotel ticks a lot of boxes.when we planned this trip we found central London hotels too dear and this was the perfect compromise
The Best Western White House is a well-situated hotel close to the centre of Watford, and ideally-placed for transport links in and out of London with three railway/tube stations within 15 minutes walk. We didn't eat at the hotel this time (I'm on a strict diet) and really just used it as a base for a trip to Wembley, but I have stayed there in the past and found the breakfast and bar facilities top-notch.
Stayed on the 25th May after attending a wedding. Returned to the hotel to continue celebrating in the bar. Faswan, the guy serving us was very good at his job, polite, friendly and helpful. His service was second to none and he chatted away to us for the whole time we were there. A very friendly guy and an asset to the hotel. Would definitely stay there again.
Arriving at the hotel I thought it was going to be a good hotel, quite convenient, presentable etc. However step into their 80's bedrooms complete with green bathroom suite I couldnt have been more incorrect! Paper thin walls and their idea of a quiet room being next to an extractor fan really topped off a terrible stay! As Ive said - never again!
We stayed here as a stop over before heading north. We arrived after 11pm but were welcomed warmly. We were lucky to get a parking place in the tiny parking area. The room was clean and tidy and the breakfast did it's job. I did wonder, though, why a returnable £50 deposit was taken?
Stayed here on Saturday 25th May 2019 for one night as I was attending a wedding. Returned to the bar afterwards with some of the wedding party, to end a wonderful day with a nightcap. Faswan was our bartender & he's an absolute asset. There were quite a few of us, but Faswan was unfazed. His level of service & friendliness was so natural & generous. What a personable man. We ended up staying until the early hours...what a great end to a great day. Faswan should be commended for his abilities & what an amazing smile! The hotel is clean, staff are helpful & polite, but Faswan is the star. Thank you for making our stay memorable.
I think the external photos must have been taken by a estate agent arrived before 6 o'clock to find there was no room in the minuscule car park had to shoe horn car onto pavement. There is no restaurant for an evening meal but Watford high Street was pleasantly surprising and plenty of places to get something to eat. One point just watch your head on the shelf on the open plan wardrobe it's just perfect height to catch you out.
Six of us used this as an overnight stop. Check in fast and efficient. Staff helpful and friendly. Lovely bar and reception area. Parking a bit of a struggle but multi story over the road which cost only £4 for 24 hours when used with a voucher the hotel gave us. Very secure car park . Winner. Breakfast not too bad , plenty of choice , very filling, set up for the day. We went at nine o clock so it was very busy but kitchen did extremely well to keep up with the demand. Rooms clean but far too hot even with the heating off and window open. A fan is provided in the room. Powerful shower and bath all clean and tidy. Only fault was creaky bed and floorboards. Tended to hear the creaks and bangs from the rooms upstairs. All in all a nice stay. I took ear plugs and eye mask for the light like I always do and used both. Would stay again. Iron and board available on request
We visited Harry Potter world for the day and I found this hotel on booking.com, it was really close to Harry Potter world! Amazing hotel room was immaculate and the reception lady was lovely and polite, the room had everything we needed in the room, the location was perfect to not far from the town, we didn't have a breakfast the next day as we thought it was a bit pricey at £9.95 pp that was the only down side to our stay other than that no problems at all
This hotel was in a great location for the places we wanted to visit. The staff were friendly and willing to please The rooms were comfortable and had all of the required facilities. There were a few drawbacks. The hotel does not serve food, other than breakfast. There are many restaurants in Watford High Street, which is only 10 mins walking away, but we were disappointed they did not serve food. They do provide cutlery and flatware if you purchase a drink at the bar, if you choose to order in a takeaway. The room was cold and we could not find any way to put on the heating. The car parks are not big enough for all of the guests. The hotel does offer a discount on parking charges at a nearby multi-storey car park, and we used that once. However I was anxious about my new car away from the hotel in a place I didn't know. Finally, and this is not the fault of the staff or the hotel. On Saturday night my wife and I were woken up five times by noisy guests returning late to their rooms. I have no complaints about the staff at all. They were helpful, attentive and did all that they could, with what they are dealing with. This wasn't as good as other BW hotels we have stayed in. Come on BW you can improve this offer! It's a busy hotel and it needs some improvement.
Paying as little as we did for a hotel around London, the expectations was not very high. How pleasantly surprised were we. Even a balloon and towel elephants on the bed. staff, breakfast and cleanliness were brilliant. honest could not have booked a nicer hotel.
This is the second time I have stayed here. The hotel is clean, has everything you need and the staff are extremely friendly. Centrally located in Watford and close to all amenities. We are visiting Watford in August for family party and have already booked again for then. The only thing I would say that I don't like is that check out is at 11am and it feels a bit rushed. Midday check out would be perfect !!
Amazing service from helpful friendly staff, room was very comfortable clean and really nice (shower was really good and powerful) . High Street was just up the road. Brilliant hotel, I would definitely recommend this to anyone, we went as it isn't too far from the Warner Bros. Studio.
I stayed here twice recently, on business. Other colleagues stayed at other, un-named hotels, and by their feedback did not have as pleasant a stay as i had. Large clean rooms, large bathrooms and nice choice at breakfast. Also has very handing parking for clients - short walk into Watford Town Centre with choice of restaurants and bars. Will definitely stay again.
If you want to hear the lift going up and down hearing the bell as it reaches its floor and people walking past you room then this is the place for you. Breakfast was excellent and Pam was very polite
We went to a game at Vicarage Road and needed a hotel close to the town and stadium. This hotel was perfect, good price, really well maintained/presented, very clean and tidy, has a car park, breakfast was good and staff couldn't have been more friendly. If your looking for a quiet hotel close to the centre, this is ideal.
central location with good access to town and stations to London well maintained and nice friendly staff some loud noisy neighbours returning late disturbed sleep, but hotel cant be held accountable for that
Stayed only for one night as we visited to Harry Potter studio tour. Couldn't find the car park but when we asked the staff were quick to point us in the direction. Car park had plenty of space but there were a lot of big pot holes so watch out. Staff were very friendly and had a quick check in. Room was clean with tea and coffee making facilities, and free fast internet available. Only thing with the room was that the walls were really thin, this wasn't too much of an issue as the guests on either side of us weren't that noisy. Also the floor kept creaking all of the time when you walked. Apart from those little things (which weren't a big issue), overall we had a really pleasant stay and would stay again. For us the price was the cheapest in the area.
Stayed here for just one night, had appointment in London the next day. Hotel kindly allowed us to leave the car even though we had checked out, so we could catch the train. The station is only about 15 mins walk with several trains running all day - ours was a fast train, took about 20 minutes to get to Euston. I would do this again, drive to Watford and get the train into London. The hotel staff were very efficient, the car was safely watched on camera 24/7. We had very inconsiderate people in the room next to us, one phone call at midnight and the staff dealt with the disturbance. The place is clean, and smart and 2 minutes from Watford high street Highly Recommend
The staff were soo lovely, warm and welcoming. Made us feel right at home. The lounge area also was lovely and a great spot for a few quiet drinks with 3 friends on the Saturday evening as we really didn't want to go to a loud/busy bar. Fantastic service and amazing value!
Basic, clean and spacious room. Decor was clean and modern, but a little cold and impersonal. All staff very friendly and helpful. Room was a good temperature all through the night. Bathroom looked a little dated and shower was a mixer tap rather than electric. Car wash right outside my wimdow (114) so you could hear the pressure washers from very early in the morning
Booked in for a 1 night stay, had already paid £50 for a non-refundable booking. Didn't get off to a great start when we were asked to pay £50 deposit Incase of any damage at the end of our stay (which we weren't informed about). It's not something you'd expect to hear, especially when it costs as much as your room does. We gave our card details over, was told we wouldn't be charged yet two minutes after checking in we were already £50 down. We went back inside to discuss this and was told that it comes up saying minus £50 but that in reality we hadn't been charged £50. This only because available again two weeks after our stay. Other than this, the room was very clean, however the very old green bathroom put us off enough to go and shower in our own home after our 1 night stay. Many reviews speak of the bathrooms and really think they should sort it out as the hotel is actually fairly decent overall.
I enjoyed my stay at the Best Western White Hotel, the service was great from all employees when needed. Check in and out was very fast and efficient, they offer express check out which was very handy. My room was lovely and clean, however the bathroom is seriously old school and needs some updating. The shower was not great either. Other than that a grand room, but as I was leaving the room for breakfast the door handle came off! Not great in case of an emergency! But staff said they would report that.
only stayed one night was off to watch a match at wembley,Hotel is about 15 min walk from the main station and the metro line, and just a 5 min walk from the town centre so no need to get taxis, staff were helpfull and pleasnt to talk to,
Lovely helpful and friendly staff. Just a 5 minute walk to intu shopping centre. And about 15 minutes walk to watford junction where the Harry potter bus took us to the tour. Plenty of restaurants near by and the hotel is happy for takeaways to be ordered and they call your room when it arrives. Was a lovely trip highly recommend
Have stayed at this hotel many times in the last year and the service and the staff are so friendly and helpful , nothing is to much trouble . The hotel is always clean and tidy and the rooms are always spotless too . Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Stayed here while visiting the gin festival at watford Colosseum. Had trouble locating the carpark at the rear of the property, but the staff were so helpful to direct us. The reception area is fab and modern and looks recently renovated, with a full bar and side room for the restaurant. We had a twin room which was lovely and to be expected. The beds were comfy. During the night - 4am - there was a commotion in another room. We could hear EVERYTHING, The walls are paper thin. We reported it the next morning, but advised we should have reported it at the time...
We booked into this hotel as it was close to pubs and bars following a tour at Harry Potter. The reception was modern and clean and the reception staff were friendly. The room was spacious and clean however the bathroom could do with updating....I haven't seen a suite that colour since the 80's. There is a customer carpark at the rear of the hotel however the access into it is full of massive potholes. All in all a good stay for one night.
Room a bit small though adequate for travelling alone for business purposes. Clean rooms and no odor. High speed internet fast and reliable. Breakfast enough variety although might be less option for families. Overall experience very good.
Great hotel one of the party needed a ground floor with wheelchair access it was perfect they upgraded anither room so we could all be on the one floor. Beds are comfortable breakfast had good selection
Very happy with the quality and decor of the hotel and the service provided. I definitely recommend it! The amenities were clean and comfy. The staff was helpful and friendly.Great Vibe too! Will be returning soon!
We had a great stay at this hotel, fabulous staff, rooms were very clean and location was perfect for visiting Warner Bros Harry Potter studio tour. No restaurant in the evening but lots of options within walking distance and easy to find options.
This place is bad, the uncaring staff, the basic stained rooms and the totally inflexible approach by reception - especially the reception, they don't care, so bad that I slept in the car.... NEVER AGAIN Best Western
The staff at the White House Hotel is amazing! They are friendly and very helpful. We had loads of questions about transportation into and out of London. They greeted us with a friendly smile every time we went through the lobby and were willing to help us with anything we needed. The only issue we had was that the mattresses on the beds in our room were sagging and need replacement. Everything else about the hotel is great!
Difficult to locate the car park and only a few places but we were lucky- it was NYE and the staff (who were going to be there all night) were so friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious but very hot (turned the radiator off ) and the only other down side was the plastic mattress cover on the bed. It really would have been noisy and a sweat fest so we removed it. It was just a base for us but we did have a little drink in the bar before hand- best bit---the staff. Thank you lovely ladies.
A really good place to stay. Nicely furnished and comfortable. The room was very comfortable and had every thing you need in a hotel room. The staff are very friendly and helpful they made my stay a very good experience. Thanks to all the staff,All the best Chris
Having read previous reviews i did some research to ensure i could find the hotels car park. Research paid off. Car park was easy to find and there was plenty of parking space. The hotel reception area, bar, lounge and restaurant were all adjacent to or part of reception. The whole area looked recently refurbished and was of a high standard. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was ready early which was a bonus. Reception staff were polite and efficient. Our room was of a very high standard. It was extremely clean and hard to find fault with. The room contained tea and coffee making facilities. The heating worked well. The bed was very comfortable. We had breakfast which we paid £8 a head for. The food was ample, well cooked and again of a very good standard. The hotel is located less than a three minute walk from the towns plentiful shops, restaurants and other amenities. Would definitely use this hotel again.
Stayed here for one night. Got booking off booking.com. Parking is around the back of the hotel - left or right of enterprise car hire. Once found, park up and go to reception to enter your reg details into a pad in the reception desk. There is a small bar servicing a lounge with a few tables with a tv. There are no evening meals but staff kindly informed me that food can be brought back and eaten in the rooms. Plenty of plugs around to charge up your devices whilst having a swift beverage. There is breakfast available at the hotel. The room was comfortable, clean and warm. WiFi is free and very fast. The shower was hot and the bathroom spotless. Complimentary shower gel and hand soap provided. Fresh towels provided too. Checkout was fast and went without incident. Back again in a few days. Would recommend. I used it to get to Croxley tube station to get into London. Station is about 10 minutes in a car. Parking at station is £4 for the day.
We stayed here having visited Harry Potter. The location is excellent, close to town and Vicarage Road and the service was impeccable throughout our stay. We were able to park all day without charge, and the cooked breakfast was very tasty. The room was modern and clean. Only issue was that the thermostat on the radiator was broken which meant it was baking hot, but we were able to open the windows and fortunately it wasn't very noisy, even though it was a Friday night. Overall we enjoyed our stay and for the price it was excellent value.
I've stayed a few places in Watford and this was my first stay in this hotel. Pros: - Well priced - Good location - Decent breakfast - Friendly staff - Free parking (if spaces available) - New carpets in the rooms and seem to be recently refurbished Cons: - Rooms are not great, particularly the single one I stayed in - Bathrooms clean but old In the room I stayed (223) I had the most awkward bathroom. The slanted roof meant I couldn't stand up properly in the shower or even when using the sink I had to be careful when moving up. Quite awkward! I'm going back to Jury's Inn after this stay as it's a lot more comfortable, despite having to pay an extra £20 a night, it's worth it.
Great stay, free parking, great helpful staff, breakfast brilliant (sausages were a bit weird in taste) everything else great . Decor was good . There was only one problem-there was some banging from somewhere in the building. And it was really noisy and woke us up . Couldn't work out what it was . Wouldn't put me staying again
From the outside looks lovely and welcoming. Reception and all staff interacted with during week stay were great and helpful with dinner recommendations. Bed was quite comfy, not hard but not too soft - each to their own. Good sized TV , desk to work on. Wifi in my room wasn't great sadly,'just intermittent (would stream netflix and even gamed) , but at least it was free Room decor is good, maybe due a lick of paint in the not to distant future. The breakfast was delicious, and hot, every day! Good consistency and the lovely lady who's name I never did catch, simply sublime. I'd revisit just to talk to her. Lovely. The only let down, and not in its function or features, but just the standard, is the bathroom , bath over shower, great pressure very good temp good sized room. The suite looked as though it was about 20'years old. All round great. Would recommend, will stay again.
I picked this hotel purely because it advertised free parking. I was booked on to a course and didn't know the area well so I picked this hotel based on the location and the free parking. On arrival I couldn't find a car park. There is literally 2 parking spaces at the front of the property. I would say that's hardly worth advertising as a car park. The free breakfast was decent though
We've stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions when we visited the Warner Brothers Studio Tour . We have always found the staff Friendly and welcoming. Since the refurbishment the Reception and Bar Area's are warm and welcoming and a lot of the rooms are bright and spacious.
The hotel lobby is nice, very relaxing. The rooms are clean and comfortable - the bathroom we had was dated but again clean which is v important - the receptionists could not do enough to help me and breakfast looked plentiful however we had to rush off the next morning so did not eat.
Firstly the staff are extremely friendly and the breakfast was pretty good, hotel was clean, with parking for £4 over the road if you can't get into their car park However, all the floors creak, the beds creak, the walls are very thin and the beds are extremely u comfortable The beds are very small, little more than a double, I would expect at least king sized in any hotel The bar is somewhat limited and both nights it ran out of Diet Coke (Not a show stopped but a basic you would expect all hotels to have - especially with the second night being a Sunday) Sadly whilst there are good points for the 2 nights we were there, we didn't have a single good nights sleep, the good points are positives but the fact we went there for the sleep and comfort this was far from it
The hotel was clean and the staff very pleasant. Breakfast was nice with a good choice. Located well and good value off site parking. Unfortunately the bed was tiny and very uncomfortable and noisy,I did not sleep well at all. The hotel is very noisy and not well insulated as you can hear everything in the next room. Doors banging till the early hours and windows don't keep out noise from street. As the main purpose of your room is to sleep I would not stay again.
We checked in very easily , room was very good but basic , it was newly decorated so that made it clean and tidy , we asked about food in the evening but were told no , asked about breakfast and was told in there in morning , used the bad are at night to get some soft drinks and water ,there was a coffee tray in the room but again this was basic , breakfast was in the room we were told and it was ok but a bit basic and hot food was only warm , we sat at a table with a vent nearby and all we could smell was the smoke form the smoking area right outside the breakfast room , the lady working in the room was busy but very friendly, I would stay again if I could not find another place locally
I arrived at the hotel and was pleasantly surprised that it has been renovated since my last stay. The bar and reception areas are very much improved. My room was large, clean and very warm. However, when I got into bed, it felt like I was getting into a hospital bed, as it had a plastic mattress protector on it. I totally understand that the mattress needs to be protected but could a thicker and quilted protector be used over the plastic one. As the room was quite warm, It felt very uncomfortable to sleep on. There was no hot water in my room in the morning and had to have a cold shower. I informed reception and they explained that the boiler would need to be reset, which would take about 20 minutes to heat up. The hotel did reimburse me £10 off the price of the room. On a positive, The staff were very helpful and friendly and the newly renovated rooms are much improved.
Great location, close to Harry Potter Studio and transport links to central London. Very clean, with fresh recent refurb of most of the hotel (apart from the bathroom which was very dated) but very clean over all. The double bed was too small and the hotel including our room was too warm. Resulting to having to use the rooms fan during mid-October Staff were very friendly and helpful from start to finish :-)
This hotel is in the process of being re-developed whilst still open for business On reflection it would be better to close the hotel . The hotel vestibule consists of several large rooms, reception and the bar. The bar does not carry a variety of beers and is staffed by the staff on the reception desk being received customers The Hotel does not do evening meals but serves a reasonable breakfast However once more the sausages are not cooked all the way round. My room was comfortale but basic and in need of some TLC. The toilet was clean but had the same tired look as the rest of the room Car parking is available I would avoid this hotel until the re-development is finished
Having read the reviews after I'd booked the hotel via Booking.com when we arrived I was pleasantly surprised, the reception staff/management were very helpful and very polite, the room we got 204 was very clean and had all we could need for a short stay, the bathroom was clean and although not as modern as the rest of the room it served its purpose, it's not a room you need to spend a lot of time in really. The self serve breakfast was good and had a good choice. As it was just myself and my 11yr old son staying we had a wander along to the supermarket for junk food to eat whilst watching tv, shops are a few minutes walk away and not in a dubious area as a previous review says. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a stop over for visiting the area.
Chosen for its location and room rate and availability, for 6 single golfers, The White House Hotel, was better than I expected. The reception staff were very helpful, even directing me, via CCTV and mobile phone the last few hundred yards, to locate the entrance to the car park, through an Enterprise car wash.! My room 221, was pleasant. The bar staff welcomed us back at 10, pm having visited Tarbouch, the nearby Lebanese restaurant. (see separate review) I got the feeling of a well- run establishment, here, which is usually down to good management. Something I'm quick to point out when it is not. So well done. A good breakfast, tables cleared promptly, even by the senior management. Nice porridge available to order. No complaints.
We have been staying here, most years for twenty years or so as a venue for annual School reunions at Bushey. This year we were delighted to see that a major refurbishment had taken place in the public areas. The rooms were pretty much the same as two years ago but adequate for the cost and our requirements. Only a short walk to the High Street, it is quiet with the weekend noise not travelling! Staff as ever, really hospitable and the breakfast buffet excellent quality. Parking space is at a premium here.
Typical hotel to spend one night and then move on. It does what it says on the tin - not more and not less. Staff however was very friendly. Convenient location to the city centre. Car park available, when full there are facilities around the corner
Firstly I'm not sure where the photos of the bedrooms are from but it certainly isn't this venue! Positives - nice look lobby. Negatives - The parking is a long drive away in rush hour. The bathroom suite is genuinely from the 1970s and hasn't been refreshed since. Accessibility is awful. The bedroom furniture is dated, bed uncomfortable and the room has no heating / cooling facilities.
Clean Hotel, Helpful Staff, Lovely Breakfast, Value for Money, whilst the location is not the greatest it is only a ten minute walk to the over ground train which is direct into London. We have stayed here on 3 occasions and like the Best Western chain, this hotel never dissapoints
We stayed here as its 10 minutes drive to Harry Potter tour, booked it as a cheap hotel not expecting much.. Was pleasantly surprised, very modern, clean, very friendly, really enjoyed our evening there, breakfast was lovely too and again nothing was any trouble for them.. Felt very welcome
Check-in was fast and easy. We were directed to the car park at the rear of the hotel where a member of the hotel greeted us and helped carry in our luggage. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to ensure our stay was comfortable. We had a king room, which while roomy and clean, did not have air conditioning, which given the heat of the summer, was a big negative for us. But the attitude of the staff more than offset our overnight discomfort.
On arrival check in was quick and easy. We were directed straight to the car park st the rear of the hotel. The bedrooms were clean & comfortable with plenty of space, complimentary tea & coffee in rooms. We were offered breakfast the next morning for £9 each but decided on a McDonald's breakfast as it's a very short walk. The location was perfect, very close to the shopping centre with lots of places to eat. Just a 10 minute drive to Harry Potter studios too which is why we booked it.
Reasonable price for a short overnight. We came for a friends 70th party and therefore only stayed overnight and for breakfast. The staff were all friendly, pleasant and could not be more helpful.. The room was basic but this was ideal for our purposes. We prefer twin beds and the twin room provided was roomy and was clean. Although the room we had was on the ground floor and looked out upon the road, we were not troubled by traffic noise.
Really nice hotel. Had king size bed which was massive and really comfortable. Big power shower. Room was nice a spacious with sofa. Staff were very helpful & friendly. Would definitely stay there again.
Excellent stay at the White House hotel. Staff went above and beyond to reach out needs. Arranged a taxi for us for the short trip to the Harry Potter tour, and recommend take aways for us as we had missed the tea time serving once we returned. Our room was immaculate and bed was very comfy. Breakfast was very nice, the only bad point I would say is none of us liked the sausages! But we are from ‘up north' and use to our Lincolnshire sausages! Ha. The following morning we were due to check out and the kind receptionist let us leave our car there for the day whilst we made the short 10 minute walk to get the train into London to do some sight seeing. Would definitely return to the hotel, it had everything we needed. Easy access to the town centre/warner Bros studios. Central London was a 20 minute train journey, which is more practical than having to drive! Also the hotel was easy to reach from the motorway without the congestion etc you have in central London. Thanks again guys The Downie family
The hotel is situated in 'bedsit land' some very dodgy characters around ( be careful). Two receptionist ( Jayne & Purvi) were awful, no customer focus skills whatsoever, was told to wait at check-in whilst Purvi was filing some papers, i could not pay for my room at check-in, both Purvi and Jayne insisted on a pre-authorisation only, then Jayne proceeded to argue like she was some street thug. Totally appalling by these two recptionists which was a shame as the rest of the staff were excellent. I did complain in writing but got the usual bog standard reply. It is clear the hotel do not value customers as these two recptionists would have been 'long gone', so don't expect a warm welcome in arrival, These two receptionists are nearly as bad as the locals. It is a shame about the two persons i mention as the hotel was very clean, comfortable and the staff in general were excellent
The hotel is modern clean and comfortable. It is well placed being a short walk from the main shopping and eating areas and not far from Vicarage road for the football fans, The car park is small and allocated on a first come first served basis but an alternative at a very reasonable £4 is available a short distance away. Less than 5 minutes on foot. The hotel does have a bar but its such a short walk to the nightlife that we didn't make use of it. Overall this hotel is good value and well placed for the amenities that Watford has to offer.
The hotel was clean and comfortable with attentive caring staff. The rooms were value for money and clean and comfortable. The only issue was the heat (due to heatwave) there was no air conditioning. Breakfast was excellent with excellent choice and presentation.
Stayed in a double room for 1 night. The room was very hot during the warm weather. No AC but a fan was supplied. When the windows were open the noise from the road was very loud. The bathroom interior was dated but clean. Car parking is free but limited and is around the rear. If there are no spaces left you have to pay £4 reduces fee at a nearby NCP. We went for breakfast at 0950 and there was very little left. What was left was cold so we decided not to eat. The hotel take a £50 deposit for damage to the room.
The hotel decor and rooms are a bit dated and could do with modernisation and air conditioning but the rooms are comfortable and quiet large. The staff were very friendly and helpful which gave a very good impression on arrival. The hotel car park is very small and over a 4 night stay I didn't get to use it at all as it was always full but there is a multistorey just round the corner for which the reception give you a discount ticket so its only £4 for a night.
Clean and tidy room Basic but got all you need for a over night stop Breakfast well I didn't fancy the English breakfast that was offered So played it safe with a banana and a yogurt No air con and was very warm through night was a fan but that just made it worse! Again it's a cheap hotel in a good location so youtake the rough with smooth. Would I recommend it Yes if you just want to stay over and grab a shower and sleep For the orice of breakfast I'd skip and go to a cafe in Watford town or to McDonalds 5 mins away .
I was going to Heathrow so wanted to stay somewhere that was not too expensive and not too far away either. So when I found The Best Western Whitehouse it ticket those boxes. The hotel is easy to find using Satnav however there isn't any signs for where to find the car park and there are double yellows outside which make it a little difficult, I did however quickly park up on the double yellows to run in and was directed to the car park which was literally just around the corner. I arrived at 10am and understandably my room wasn't ready to check in however as I was going into London for the day this wasn't an issue and I registered my car and parked for the day. I got back to the hotel in the evening about 9pm and checked in with no issue, the receptionist that checked me in was very friendly and very helpful. When I got to my room 220 it was just what I needed for the night. However if I am being picky I would say the bed was to soft but that's personal preference, the bathroom was dated but had all the amenities I needed, the bed doesn't face the TV so can be a little uncomfortable when watching it and the blind was a little damaged so was letting light through. But as I say these issues are me just being picky. As I arrived late there was no food service however the receptionist gave me a couple of take away menus and offered to order for me, however as the take away was so close I walked. I didn't want to eat in my room but this was not an issue as I was able to eat in the lobby area, the receptionists were so helpful they offered me cutlery, napkin and condiments. Check out was just as easy and again the receptionist was so friendly. I would definitely stay again if in the area!
There is very limited parking so we had to make use of a multi-storey car park which is less than a 100yards from the hotel but which we had to approach by a circuitous route because of the one-way system. The hotel provides a voucher which limits the cost to £4. The hotel boasts a bar and restaurant but the bar is very limited and adjacent to and run by the reception staff, though Ihad a very pleasant glass of wine.. Food is basic bar menu and in our case was somewhat overlooked and dry. However the rooms are pleasant, I could actually lie down in bath and my bed was comfortable. WiFi is free and worked without any problems. Would only rate 3 stars except that all the staff we met were really fast class and deserve the extra star!
I found the hotel relaxing, all the staff Helen,Jane,Punc,Ewelina, Marine, Neil and Fawsan were very friendly and helpful. Thank you all. It is clean and close to the town centre. There is parking. Trevor
Was a bit dubious when I first arrived as they said there was no onsite restaurant but the delivery service that is in place with some of the local restaurants works well. All the staff where very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was spacious and clean. Even though work may not bring me this way very often I would consider stopping here again
Absolutely incredible service! Marine on the main desk is without a doubt the most welcoming face I have ever experienced at a hotel, friendly, helpful and wonderful to talk to and Hellen the manager is just as fantastic. Definitely stay here.
If you want a reasonable hotel near to the town centre then this is a good choice. Very little parking but secure multi just round the corner. Reception staff were excellent. Lift was out of order. Room was quite large with room for a pull out bed which would be ok for two kids for one or two nights. Usual facilities inclu coffee making. Bathroom was good sized. All clean and reasonable decor. Breakfast was sel serve but reasonable choice. Five mins walk to town centre with good selection of restaurants but nothing posh. All in all, if I wanted a town centre hotel, this is recommended.
This is the second time we have stayed here. It's classed as 3 star by AA but (apart from the bathrooms, which we understand will soon be refurbished) it is very smart and is kept clean and tidy. Not tried breakfast yet, maybe next time.
By far the best priced hotel I could find I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. It looks shabby on the outside but don't judge a book by its cover. The hotel was clean to a high standard it smells as you walked in. The staff were more than helpful, close to Watford junction 10 - 15 minute walk. Easy to get to close to town. Parking avalibe at The back. We went to Harry potter world so this was the perfect location to get the shuttle bus. Highly recommended.
We arrived at this hotel after two dreadful nights at a hotel in Hampstead so were exhausted, We arrived about half an hour before check in and were greeted by two lovely ladies, they offered us a drink and were very helpful and accommodating. After an extremely short wait our room was ready, lovely room, it had just been refurbished. Fans provided in the rooms, lovely comfy bed and shower. We arrived Sunday evening so there was no food available, the two ladies on reception offered us alternative options and menus. We ordered a takeaway and the staff again were more than accommodating in offering us crockery and cutlery. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!
I have to say when you arrive the outside makes you think what have I booked! Inside however it is clean and modern decoration. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The room was for one night and was large and clean. There was no air conditioning which meant sleeping with the window open but the street noise was not to bad. The bed was excellent. The room had tea and coffee but no fridge and thus no cold drinks. The bathroom was old with a peach coloured suite. The shower was good and powerful but was step into corner bath. The breakfast in the morning was plenty and fresh. Would have liked to see some pastries. There was cereal, fruit, bread for toast and a selection of cooked breakfast. Juice and coffee or tea. Overall I think a little expensive for what we got but would recommend for anyone. Just one thing I booked thinking it's close to the station while not very far at a mile there are closer and more modern looking but maybe not the same price!
Needed a hotel in Watford for happy potter studio tour and was very impressed. Good location within the town for transport links and plenty of nearby restaurants in the town. Massive room and great nights sleep. Helpful staff and service, free car parking.
Lovely hotel, staff were all very friendly and helpful, the receptionist went out of her way to help us find a parking space in the car park and the bar tender was also very helpful in assisting my husband to take two drinks up in the lift! On our first morning the cooker wasn't working so they were unable to offer a cooked breakfast but instead refunded the cost and offered a free continental breakfast with many apologies even though this was a situation beyond their control. The room was clean and comfortable and was supplied with an electric fan, which was handy because it was a warm night. We absolutely loved this hotel and will definitely be returning.
We stayed at the White house hotel using as a base for Twickenham. Since my last visit the Hotel has had a refurbishment and it looks refreshed and modern. The staff as always were pleasant and friendly. The room was what I would expect for the £89 we paid. The bed was comfy and the room had the standard facilities. The only downside was that it was a warm night and there is no air-con, but an electric fan was provided. We made the mistake of leaving a window open and were awoken several time by the watford community walking home from the centre in high spirits. The breakfast was lovely, everything I would expect. I look forward to my next stay.
Great hotel just off Watford high street. Great location. 10 min walk tops from train station and bus stops with 1 min. Handy for shops and eating/out. Great place. Happy to recommend. We'll be back for sure.
I arrived late and the free car park was full, i was moved to a multi-story car park a very short walk away for a discounted price. Breakfast was ok but limited. The room was comfortable, contemporary, quiet and cosy. It is well situated in town close to shops and bars. Food was not available when I arrived either but they provided a list of takeaway menues all of which delivered to the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed my stay.
Great little hotel, staff were brilliant, loads of local knowledge and happy to help in any way. Organised taxis for our large group. Rooms were nice, the doubles very generous the single was small but well equipped. Greatest feature is the staff, every single one of them.
Comfy night stop. Room more spacious than anticipated , albeit too warm and no air conditioning.(that I could find) Bathroom dated , cold do with modernisation. Special thanks to Helen on reception , very helpful .
This is a well runned hotel, it is clean, old premises and therefore spacious rooms, well kept, comfortable, centrally situated near centre of town, pleasant staff and management, this is how one runs a hotel.
I stay here often and really appreciate the way the team look after myself and colleagues each week. Recently refurbished to a good standard. I really love the way the team and management know the repeat visitors and look out for everyone.
Stayed here for two nights last weekend as going to Wembley for football game. Good location, not far to walk to train station or tube stations (10-15 mins) Reception staff very friendly, efficient and helpful. Rooms were spacious, very clean and comfortable and our bed was huge. Free parking at hotel if there are spaces available. Breakfast was good value at £8.00 if booked in advance. Good choice of cooked breakfast, along with toast, cereals and fruit. Would definitely stay here again if we needed to be in the area.
Stayed here when going down to Wembley for an England game. Good location in the centre of Watford. About 15 minutes walk from a couple of tube stations (Watford and Watford High Street). Friendly staff, nice rooms. It does have parking round the back of the hotel but it was a bit of a tight squeeze and it is not immediately obvious how you access the car park.
Stayed here for a night earlier this month. The reception staff were polite, friendly and efficient. Although the Scottish guy in the evening was far more personable! The ground-floor room was spacious and clean and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was fine but could do with a bit of an update and the toilet roll was too far from the toilet for comfort! Breakfast was value for money at £8 if booked in advance with plenty of choice even for a vegetarian such as myself. Although the scrambled eggs were rather solid (does nowhere do runny scrambled anymore?!) and the coffee was absolutely vile filter type! No excuse BW, get it sorted! That said, I would certainly stay here again should I need to.
Lovely hotel very clean. Parking can be a problem but a near by multi story let's you park for £4 per night. The food is good but not enough on the menu been here 4 nights in 2 weeks and will be back again. Quite cheap too
This was the perfect hotel for me and my family while we visited the Warner Bro Studio tour. Friendly staff. Clean hotel. Great food. Perfect rooms. All in all a perfect stay and a certain recommendation.
The parts of the hotel we saw appeared to be newly refurbished. We had a spacious room (number 8) which was modern and very clean. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Watford Colloseum and about the same to the High St where there are lots of places to eat.
We had stayed at this hotel before when meeting up with friends in Watford, we decided to stay again but this time we were really happy to find that we had been given the newly renovated rooms, they are really comfortable with everything that you need and very tastefully decorated. The reception area has been changed and now has a lovely bar area, it is a great area to sit and relax with a drink. We did not eat in the restaurant in the evening but breakfast was very good with everything that you may require. All staff that we met during our overnight stay were very professional, helpful and friendly. Thanks to Helen who was on reception when we checked in and was able to juggle from reception to bar while we enjoyed a drink with friends on arrival. Staff at breakfast on the Sunday morning were again wonderful. We will definitely stay again, hopefully in the newly refurbished rooms.
My TripAdvisor disclaimer.... I am a thirty something average guy who travels either for work or with my wife. We love a bargain hotel and have stayed in everything from 1 star motel6 through to 5 star luxury across Europe and the US depending on our trips. If I pay £50 to stay in a hotel and the carpets are a bit dated this does not phase me...it's £50 for a reason! If I give 5 stars it's not because the hotel is 5 star it's because my experience has been excellent for the price I've paid. So now for my review..... this hotel looks slightly tired from the outside, with a small car park to the rear of the property. Reception, bar and seating area has recently been renovated to a very high standard. Check in was easy, and staff very friendly. I never had anything in the restaurant or breakfast so can't comment. I had a single room which was a good size and fresh. New furniture and a comfy bed. Small t.v on wall and coffee/tea facility. We were on second floor. Bathroom was the only thing that let the place down. The WC in reception was modernised to match the new decor. However, the bedroom I had is still waiting on a bathroom renovation and as such it lets the room down slightly. Hotel is a couple of minutes from the town centre with some Local pubs and restaurants. Not sure about the area as we drove straight from a conference using sat nav. Good value for money.
We liked this hotel previously because of its location and good standard. We haven't stayed for over a year and were delighted to find that its been completely refurbished and gone from being good to excellent! Rooms and bathrooms are really good standard, reception and the bar have been completely changed and lovely place to relax for drinks and all the staff we came in to contact with were very friendly and helpful! Mention must go to our receptionist/bar person Helen who was just fabulous - efficient but very good fun couldn't have done more for us!
A lovely hotel and the staff were very friendly and accomodating. I choose the hotel as it was walking distance to Watford FC. My son and I had a wonderful relaxing break. Staff helped us with parking and were happy to help with all my enquires. Thank you.
If you have to stay in Watford this hotel is a good place to stay. Not too expensive, good breakfast friendly but polite staff. I did not particularly liked the room forniture but was ok, for sure improvable
Absolutely faultless stay after being upgraded after a bit of a mix up with our booking. Stayed in room 3 on the ground floor which looked very recently refurbished. Room spotlessly clean, bed really comfy, huge shower/wet room and breakfast was fantastic. Our only gripe was the guests staying above us. On both nights they created quite significant noise from 5am and awoke us very early. We mentioned it at breakfast on our second morning to the manageress whom took our concerns on board very sympathetically and in fairness was quite understanding. However when we came to check out a little later, we weren't asked how was our stay, like the couple in front of us. We were told that they were sorry about the noise and they would be having a word with the inconsiderate guests? Not what we were expecting to be honest. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting a refund or a free stay, but we did pay a supplementary £32 for breakfast x2 for both days. A polite gesture of good will wouldn't have gone amiss here we thought. We've stayed in numerous hotels over the years and have encountered situations which do sometimes unfortunately arise like this, but never walked away feeling a little let down and disappointed with how our complaint was managed. If it wasn't for this I'd have left a 5 star rating as we thought it was one of the best hotels we've stayed at recently, and we'd have highly recommended it to our family and friends.
Just back from a 3 night stay and after reading some of the reviews we were a bit apprehensive about what we would find. The car park was small and we had to park on double yellows while my other half nipped into reception to ask for directions. We received a warm welcome from reception, and check in was quick and easy. The room was clean and comfortable, yes the bathroom suite was a bit dated but it was clean and did the job. The breakfast was lovely each morning and it was possible to order items not listed on the menu like poached eggs and porridge, the staff were more than accommodating and friendly The bar was reasonably priced and the evening meal was ok. The hotel was located a few minutes walk from Watford Market and about 10-15 minute walk from Watford Junction station. There are a number of restaurants and pubs nearby, as well as a large shopping centre.
excellent location for what we needed. Food was good at breakfast could of just needed a few more savery items. Bed was so comfy I did not want to get out. Staff were really friendly and could not be more helpful.
Stayed here with my wife on a two day visit to Watford. The Hotel is smaller than we had assumed on the website and the bedrooms are all fairly compact. The Hotel staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms were clean and the bed was very comfy. The breakfast was adequate but not spectacular. The food served in the restaurant was very reasonably priced and of a very good standard, a lot better than some of the Restaurants recommended nearby. The Hotel probably does need some modernisation but for what we paid we were very happy and once again I must compliment all the staff on reception for their help.
We stayed here for a company paid Christmas do! The hotel has its good and bad points: The Good: Friendly staff Good bar Acceptable breakfast (although i could only stomach a Banana) Location - Perfect if you want to be close to town. The Bad: The Avocado bathroom suite Uncomfortable beds Unacceptable amount of parking available.
This is a good basic hotel for the cost. The rooms are clean, but a bit small. Beds are comfortable, the area is relatively quiet, and located conveniently for a short walk to the shopping/restaurant area. The hotel offers breakfast and dinner, as well as a bar area. The staff are friendly and very helpful with any questions. There is also elevator service between floors.
I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights recently for a football match with my husband. I had not had great expectations but I am glad to say I was very wrong. The location is literally a 2 minute walk from the high street and 10 mins from the Watford FC ground. The hotel itself was spotless and was decorated in a relaxed but modern style. The bedroom was a great size and very comfortable. We didn't eat in the hotel but had a drink in the bar and found all the staff exceptionally pleasant and helpful. I would certainly stay there again if i'm in the area.
Booked in as we were going to a gig at the Watford colleseum. The hotel is basic and clearly set up for people who are working and need somewhere to stay. The hotel is basic but it delivered everything we needed. I would definitely stay there again if I needed to stay for a night in Watford
This hotel has been recently refurbished and with the addition of new rooms. The public areas are clean and comfortable with bar food and drinks available. The restaurant is bright and the menu ok with well cooked food and excellent service. All staff are most helpful and are interested in their guests. Car Parking can be tight after 17:00hrs but there is public parking near by if from the outside needed. Not memorable, similar to most town hotels, but Memorable inside.
As we drove down the motorway we started to worry that this place was too good to be true. Very reasonably priced, parking available & close to the Harry Potter tour. Something had to be wrong, right? No. It really was a little gem. The hotel doesn't have kerb appeal, you aren't going to drive by & think I must stay there but that aside its a great little place. Firstly your staff. Wow. What a lovely, friendly & professional team. Chatty, genuinely interested in the guests & made my 6 year old nephews trip making sure they spoke to him every time we went through reception or ordered to the room. Parking was very easy, they had more than enough availability the weekend we were there & assured us if they filled up they have access to an overspill car park for just £4 which was very reasonable. Less than a 15 minute drive to Harry Potter & a short walk to the high street with a mix of chain & independant places to eat. The rooms were freshly refurbished. You can smell the new, nice clean & functional shower roons, simple decor. No room with a view but for under £70 a night and as a place to rest your head really couldn't coplain about that. Very quiet, the only noise that travelled was room doors closing but no voices, tv etc to disturb your sleep. We ordered room service and got nice simple sandwiches for a fair price, even a side salad & crisps to make an enjoyable light meal.
Attended a wedding at The Grove, good hotel, good rooms, great price, 10 miniutes to the Grove in a Uber taxi. Quick checkin and out, parking a bit tricky to find but free, just need to ask front desk.
The hotel is coming to the end of a major refit and it has improved the image of the hotel bring a modern look the staff are friendly and will always find time to talk with you and greet you with a smile. Rooms have been refitted with a modern look clean and tidy. The location is in the centre of Watford so you are able to walk to the high street the staff are a compliment to the hotel and the rates are inline with all the other hotels and also has on site parking
I booked two rooms at the Best Western White House Hotel via Expedia's on-line booking facility. Unfortunately I made a mistake whilst filling in details on their form and despite trying to rectify the mistake immediately, I found myself running in circles and being passed from one company to another. I have spoken to the White House Hotel who inform me that is actually Expedia, not themselves who has my money (over £100). Yet Expedia inform me that White Horse Hotel has my money and they (White Horse Hotel) won't issue a refund. It may be worth noting that Expedia are quite good at NOT replying to e-mails at times, and despite contacting Expedia requesting their CEO's name and contact address, I was yet again 'fobbed' off. I did contact Best Western's Head Office, who were (also) unable to help. All three companies are quick to give to 'understand' my frustration and predicament and are 'regret' they are unable to help. Personally it I agree with a person who I contacted for help in all this who said....."It seems a pretty underhand way to do business." MY mistake and it's a costly one....Customer Service? Goodwill? Sadly lacking. Of course, there are plenty of alternatives available and based on this particular experience, we no longer use Expedia or Best Western Hotels
Very nice comfortable overnight stay. Staff were excellent and very friendly and happy. The only downside was the shortage of car parking at the hotel. Bed was exceptionally comfortable and breakfast was good.
my daughter and i stayed a few nights as we went to the Harry potter studios , it was really lovely stay nice clean room spacious to, which was ideal with me being a wheelchair user , the staff were really lovely can't complain about anything would definitely visit again
Friendliest hotel staff that you will ever meet. Hotel under going renovations but very clean and well presented. Car parking limited but staff have options if you ask. Very comfortable stay. Just off of town centre and twenty minute walk to public transport. Restaurant not available the night that I was there but breakfast was adequate
I must admit on arriving by taxi the external appearance was a bit sorry looking!, but once inside it was obvious that the hotel had undergone major refurbishment. The staff on reception were friendly Polite and booked me in quickly. My room was on the first floor and again was obviously newly renovated and comfortable with all i needed. Breakfast was a buffet style with Again great polite friendly staff and was really enjoyable. I would Have no hesitation on recommending this hotel! Great service/location/value for money!! Thank you to all the friendly staff.
very friendly staff and helpful, just in the town center easy to walk into town for a good choice of bars and places to eat.building work going on ,but no problems, bit tight with car parking staff there to help, rooms very large and up to date.
It's a few years since I last stayed here, and was looking forward to renewing acquaintance with the Hotel, following what I'd been told were major refurbishments. Sadly, it fell short of my expectations. The room layout was most peculiar, and the bed uncomfortable. Breakfast in the restaurant was OK - although a little on the overcooked side. The only real plus was very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel location is good, being in the heart of the Town.
I stayed as part of a large group for business purposes. The room was comfortable with all necessary amenities, and the food was nicely cooked. The outstanding feature was the helpful staff who helped us park in the little car park, managed our requests for quick service and an early breakfast and couldn't do enough to help.
enjoyed my stay here staff very friendly and helpful especially the staff at breakfast I cannot remember her name sadly they don't do food every evening in the restaurant so check before you book which night they don't as I think one of them is a Friday close to town centre just a short walk away and not too far from the rail station
Stayed at the hotel over the weekend of 16th Sept. Location to town centre, a few minutes walk away Like most people mentioned, the outside of the hotel looks a little tired, however, was prepared for this. Arrived early and Roxanna, who was very helpful, said she could arrange the room immediatley. We were lucky enough to get the parking at the rear of the hotel although this is a very small car park. Multi storey is just across the road. This hotel is in a great location for Watford FC, just 10 minutes walk away. Sign up to the Best Western rewards club if you book direct on the web. We received the offer of complimentary breakfast. Your also get reduced room rates as rewards. Worth it as it is free to sign up. Didn't have a drink in the hotel but the bar area looked ok The room was very warm and comfortable. Bathroom very dated but still clean. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment so bathrooms could be last on the list. Hotel did take £30 swipe off may card and reversed the transaction the following day on check out. All of this has been previously reviewed by other guests so can't understand why people complain Will definately use this hotel again when in the area.
I looked at hotels in the Watford area and chose this one because of its location, near the station, and the fact that the Best Western website said it has onsite parking (I have attached a photo of the website taken at 0230 on 24/9 which supports this) As I knew I would be arriving around 1am, I rang in advance to inform reception. Upon arrival we were told there was no parking as it is first come first served - shame they couldn't have put that on the Best Western website or informed us prior to travel. There is a nearby multi storey (which you have to pay for) however, at that time of night, it is full of drunken revellers and would be intimidating for solo travellers. When checking in I was asked to swipe my card, I presumed that this was in case of additional charges however I was informed that even though we had prepaid there was nothing on their system and they were taking payment for the room - something I will be taking up with the company once I return home! The staff are pleasant enough but very unhelpful (quite smug regarding the room payment and parking which, had I not been so tired, would have been challenged as I am not they idiot they were making me out to be) The room was basic and definitely not the standard I have come to expect from Best Western hotels. I thought staying at a Best Western would have been a 'treat' but now wish I had booked at the nearby Premier Inn instead!
Room was very poor.. bathroom dirty and room extremely tired..paid for in advance on a company credit card but then they asked for a swipe of a personal card for a £30 security deposit on arrival incase I 'smoked in the room'. Customer service was terrible when I questioned it.. receptionist rude and ignorant although the rest of the stay all staff were very friendly.. hotel is obviously undergoing some much needed renovations (see pics) but the comparison against jury's inn or premier down the road for pretty much the same price is a world away
Very good value, room was well equipped. Some free parking. Breakfast was good value at £7 each. Good location for central Watford. Staff friendly and efficient. Voice making announcements in lift sounds like a cat.
At 5am a male member of staff walked into my room. If I had not voiced my presence there, it could have been incredibly humiliating for me as I was undressed. The male staff did not call the room or knock beforehand. I felt humiliated and unsafe as a result. The same staff member called 15 minutes later to apologise and explain himself. My partner had exited the fire exit and told the staff he was leaving (apparently he did this the night before unbeknownst to me). So this was the staff's reason for barging in my room. However, when I asked why he didn't give a quick call to the room or knock on the door before coming to check that another person wasn't in the room, he just gave me a lot of excuses and blamed my partner. Having reported this to the manager and senior manager both were incredibly unsympathetic to my loss of personal well-being and dignity. They refused to give a refund or part refund. The first manager was the worst and actually walked away from me when I asked for compensation. When I calmly approached his colleague and asked for the senior manager's email he shouted at me that she didn't know it and only he did and he refused to give the email. Later he finally called the senior manager to come see me. Initially the senior manager, Suraj, was very good and organised a part refund as I wouldn't be in the area to have a complimentary stay instead (his first compensation offer). But as I felt that due to all the bad manners of his manager etc I asked for a full refund. Suraj said he'd have to speak to the night staff who came to my room to confirm the story. The story was confirmed however, Suraj refused to give the refund after all. His excuse was that they didn't know I was there. Completely crazy as two staff helped us to check in at reception, my card was on the booking AND it was, of course, a double room (safe to assume there were two people there). Appalling manners from the managers. Best Western need to check into this for sure. How disgusting it is to allow a male staff to enter a customers room uninvited and without consent! Disgusting.
We had an amazing stay here. The whole hotel is undergoing renovations at the moment. The outside looks a bit dated, but inside it is like walking into another world. The staff were a credit to the company, nothing was too much trouble. We were always greeted with a smile and greeting. The room was comfortable and clean.
Stayed 2 nights at the hotel . Was worried when first saw exterior however hotel was clean we'll furnished and very friendly staff . Would recommend and would stay again . Stayed here as a base for visiting Harry Potter warner brothers
Having read some of the reviews was a little anxious about staying here. However I needn't have been as from the moment I arrived and the manager arranged a parking spot for me to the moment I left the staff were amongst the most friendly and helpful I have met. My room looked to have been recently refurbished with sufficient facilities and comfort for a 2 night stay. Would have prepared freshly cooked rather than buffet breakfast but no real complaints about the quality of breakfast. Ate in both nights and very pleased with tasty meals & generous portion sizes. Don't get me wrong this is not a luxury hotel and there are areas for improvement including a revamp for the outside. Would normally only rate as a 4 maximum but due to the staff, happy to rate as a 5.
When we arrived outside we were worried that the inside of the hotel would be the same quality of the outside, a bit tired and dirty. But when we stepped inside we were glad that it wasn't. It was lovely and stylish and very clean. The lady on reception was so welcoming and I am gutted I didn't grab her name. We had 2 twin rooms and they were right next door to eachother. The rooms were lovely, very clean and modern. The bathrooms need updating but when you're only staying one night you don't mind too much. Lovely stay, comfy beds and lovely staff! Would definatly stay here again!
A Hotel that has been brought into the 21st Century by a continuing refurbishment, with staff that are extremely friendly and supportive to your needs. Would I recommend this hotel definitely ...Yes Would I return for a future visit definitely ...Yes
I have to say the positive that I have is the welcome we received when we arrived was friendly and welcoming. Also the bedrooms have been refurbished but not the bathrooms. Very old looking bathroom and the shower you either scald yourself or freeze and as my daughter pointed out the toilet paper is miles away from the toilet. When checking in I was told that they need to take a £30 deposit from my card to pay for any extras never have I had this before where a actual amount is taken only a preauthorisation. Didn't realise I looked like a flight risk just me and my daughter when I questioned I was told it was because they had trouble in the past. I paid the deposit even tho I didn't order any extras so after checking out I am still waiting for it to go back into my bank account. Now Breakfast was a real treat.......... supposedly a hot buffet and it was freezing!! Both days breakfast was cold. Today I asked for fresh eggs but they still weren't hot?? I paid the extra for the room to have bfast included and wish I hadn't bothered. Going back to the refurbished rooms with walls as thin as paper so could hear everything which kept us awake at night and up early in the morning and my favourite was the cheap mattress protectors it was like sleeping on plastic!! Never in my life have I woke up so hot from a bed and I am not old enough for hot flushes!! Awful stay! This place has potential as the staff are lovely but please master the basics!
We stayed at the White House last weekend on the 19 August as we were visiting the Harry Potter tour and its very impressive. The recent refurbishment which, is still ongoing is very modern and stylish. We had 2 rooms and they were spotless and airy, we didn't eat there but the dining room was very nice, We did have drinks in the the bar area and found it to be comfortable and beautifully decorated. However, the best and most memorable experience during our visit has to be the staff, every one we met was friendly, helpful and just plain nice. Highly Recommended.
Just to start, the owner should be very proud of their staff nothing was too much trouble. Parking is limited and as I have a sprinter van parking was not easy, but the deputy manager Neil Patel was great sorted me a space every night. The rooms are comfortable spotlessly clean.food was very good and not over priced. Breakfast is buffet style, which is not my personal favourite, I prefer cook to order, after saying that every thing was hot. Once again I would like to let Mr Patel and his team I thought they are excellent.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful at this hotel. I made a mistake when I booked the room, and despite a 'no refunds' policy the booking was changed by the next day with no fee. From the outside, it doesn't look too appealing, but inside the hotel is very clean and has clearly been recently decorated. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. We stayed for one night to visit the Warmer Bros Studio Tour, and it was a 15-minute walk to the correct bus stop and only £2.50p for a return bus trip to the attraction. Breakfast could be added for £7 in advance or £8 in the morning, but it only ran until 9.30 so we didn't bother. There is a small car park round the back, but if it's full the hotel has a deal with a nearby car park where you can get 24 hours' parking for £4. So overall, this was great value and I'd recommend it.
We stayed here for one night on a trip to the footy. Hotel was very clean and the room was comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all a very pleasant experience. Watford didn't win the football though! :)
Stayed here for one night while visiting warner bros studios for Harry Potter tour. Hotel was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had fantastic staff on reception. The bed was super comfy, and the room had everything you'd need for a short stay. Price was very reasonable and booked through booking.com at £72 for a Saturday night... Would defo stay again when next in the area!
Very near the town lots of restaurants and nightlife. Great for younger people don't think the area would be suitable for the older generation. Used this hotel while visiting Harry Potter world. Great value for money, excellent and friendly staff, couldn't fault the place. Recently been refurbished Highly recommend.
We booked this hotel as we were visiting friends in Watford. When they heard where we were staying they laughed because it had such a dreadful reputation locally. HOWEVER ... we were warmly greeted by the staff on duty who, seeing we were carrying clothes we were trying to keep crease free, appeared with what looked like a brand new ironing board and iron for our use. Very thoughtful. We couldn't make our mind up whether to book breakfast or not - it was £6.95 if pre-booked or £8.95 on the morning - and entered into a long discussion about what to do. They waited patiently for us to decide without any sign of annoyance!! The hotel has been taken over by the Best Western group and has had a complete refurbishment apart from the bathrooms which are next on their list. The rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean. Everything had been freshly decorated. The bathrooms were also spotless but a but old and tired. Breakfast was superb. Fresh fruit salad. Yoghurts . A fast and efficient toast machine which is s rare! Full English was from hotplates that were freshly refilled as required and included thick slices of good quality bacon. Our waitress, like the staff in reception was very friendly and polite. I would definitely return and recommend it to anyone visiting Watford. .
We stayed here last week and I have to say that this hotel was perfect. The interiors are well decorated in a modern style. Rooms are quite big (we stayed in a 4 family room), clean and fully accessorised. All the furniture inside are brand new. The breakfast is really tasty and I suggest you to find the hash brown. Moreover they can also prepare you, not included in the price of the room, food for the evening at a reasonable price. The hotel is located in an idela position, just five minutes walk to the High Street where you can find shops and the shopping centre Intu that is amazing. The personnel is VERY KIND AT ALWAYS AT DISPOSITION OF THE GUESTS. Marine and the others were all really nice! Thanks!
The evaluation of our 4 nights stay in this hotel is very easy. Shortly after the complete reconstruction this hotel is simply perfect in all aspects. We had a quiet room facing the inner yard so we could have the windows open the whole night.
Stayed for one night in late July 2017. Staff were all friendly and as helpful as can be. Rooms were clean, modern and stylish with some very nice woodwork. Breakfast was sublime and the hotel itself was a stone throw from Watford's town centre and main attractions. No faults to pick whatsoever with the hotel. Fantastic.
When I arrived I thought oh Christ where have they booked me. I went inside and because my company booked via bookings.com the rooms had not been paid. The staff were amazing they helped out instantly. The decor in the hotel is excellent and my room was better than expected. The whole stay was extremely nice. To top it off having someone greet you at breakfast like Pam was just perfect. So helpful and pleasant. I will recommend we stay there again.
This is just what was needed. A spontaneous night out in Watford Town Centre with a room to follow afterwards. The staff were amazing and the convenience was outstanding with a 'Starbucks' round the corner to help get over the night before. The bed was a perfect height too if you know what I mean and the showers are definitely big enough for two. We're be back to experience again and if anything, to see the smiles repeated on the staff.
We stayed here last minute due to seeing a show at Wembley and the prices in the city were crazy. A short walk to the tube station (15mins) which takes you direct to Wembley Park. the hotel is currently having refurbishment work done but this didn't affect us at all. We had what looked like a newly decorated room however it had a dated bathroom. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Breakfast the next morning was great also. Would stay again.
Although this place looks rather shabby on the outside, it is wonderful inside. A perfect spot for us mid-way through our trip to just relax. Very friendly staff and an easy walk to all Watford has to offer.
We booked for one night so that we could go into London for a show and then visit the warner bros studio tour the next day. The reception staff were lovely, directed us to the free car park (small but we were told we could use another car park if we wanted to). Checking in was easy, room was ready on time and the reception lady was friendly and chatty. The lobby is well decorated and looked after. Bedroom was a really good size with a big bathroom. The shower was over the bath which was a bit small and led to the floor getting soaked. But it was a nice bathroom with nice shower gel provided. The room was simple and clean and the bed was comfortable. Our room faced out onto the car wash which was busy during the day but silent at night. Breakfast was a buffet of a full English and choices of croissants, cereal and light bites as well. Constantly being renewed and there was a member of staff in the room at all times if you needed anything. We also met one of the housekeeping staff who were very friendly like the rest of the staff. We were really happy with our stay and have already recommended family and friends to stay here. Really good price and value for money. As we paid £79 for the room and £7 each for breakfast.
Dissapointed on arrival front of hotel shabby, and the rear was part building site. Lovely staff who were very pleasant. Rooms needed updating and the corridors etc were undergoing work when we stayed.
We stay here once a year when visiting family, and choose the hotel because of its location, close to where the family lives. And it's a perfectly good base for us, but we don't spend much time there - don't use the bar nor have breakfast. Our room had been recently re-furbished, so was clean and fresh - but not a single drawer or shelf for storing clothes. There was hanging space.
Don't judge this hotel by its outward appearance. Inside it is sleek, tasteful, incredibly clean and has been updated through recent ongoing refurbishment. All staff members are charming and friendly and if you need anything just ask for Neil the Duty Manager...so helpful and nothing is too much trouble for him. Bar prices are standard...£3.50 330ml Budweiser or £4.80 pint of ale, and parking didn't bother us as there were enough spaces but the car park is small and could be an issue, go round the back and pull in next to Enterprise. Our room 103 was small but decent, due to the refurbishment, circular saw noises started around 8:15am. Very good central location.
A very nice hotel, great price. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. We would stay here again. 2 min walk from town centre, 10 min from train station. The rooms are clean and tidy with tea/coffee facilities.
Stayed here for a night. From the outside it appeared disappointing. But on the inside- Clean, average sized quite rooms. However, there are no refrigerators in the room. Tue bed was comfortable. Advertised as free parking, but there are a handful no of spaces which are first come first serve basis. There is a paid 24 hour car park across the road. Breakfast is quite expensive at £7 per person Overall this place is giod value for money
The hotel is well located for central Watford it has friendly staff and a good breakfast. The hotel has gone through modernisation with some work still to be done, rooms are have modern décor and quite have stayed here over several years on a regular basis never been disappointed
Just one night before a visit to Harry Potter studios. well located for a walk into town and station for bus to studio. Good breakfast and very helpful staff. Comfortable rooms, a little bit noisy due to road traffic.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff customer service was superlative - best of any hotel by a long shot. We had a room on the second floor and stayed for two nights. We added breakfast when we arrived (as this wasn't included) and ended up having dinner both nights too, so I would say the food was good! There was some refurbishment going on but it wasn't a bother generally. The hotel had been improved somewhat since previous stays some years before - the reception was spacious and welcoming. There are plenty of seats (although not too comfy from my back point of view) and a large tv and bar. They offered one newspaper but lots of copies. In our room it was very hot so we had to open the window, and there was a fan, which we employed! (It wasn't particularly hot weather - about 21C.) The walls must have not been that thick as we could hear a "lot if activity" next door! There was a bath and shower - both great. Unfortunately the water pressure in the loo wasn't great, but the rooms were spacious. There wasn't a lot of hanging space for clothes, but for a short stay this wasn't a problem to us. The only downside was parking. We were fortunate to get a space in their car park, but if you didn't (as spaces were limited), you could park in the NCP that they had an arrangement with. Watford have some one-way streets in the centre and if you don't know it very well you could end up going round a bit before fknding where you want to be. However, as said, the hotel staff couldn't be more helpful and they would assist in this as well. There were coffee-making facilities (but no biscuits and no water).
Don't bother booking here, try the air bnb's close by or the holiday inn is good They ended up over charging us to the cost that was agreed however i only found out once my card was charged and they refused to refund it
We were only staying for one night first impressions of the outside were a little disappointing but inside ..verry nice the lobby, bar and public areas have been recently refurbished to an excellent standard . The manager explained how to get to the small car park at the rear of the hotel and as a room was ready let us check in early. There is still some refurbishment going on in the corridor but nothing off putting although the stairs are very creaky but we used the lift so no matter. The funny smell people complain about in some reviews are the new carpets i quite like it myself . The room we had was spotless as was the bathroom and that bed was so comfortable. And for me the make or break of any hotel is the staff i feel that the staff at this hotel are certainly among the nicest friendliest and most helpful i have ever met. They didn't but a foot wrong from the minute we stepped inside until the minute we left they were friendly and courteous. The breakfast was lovely we were about 20 minutes early for the restaurant to open but the lady setting up said no problem sit down have a cuppa we will be ready shortly. We will definitely go back next year.
Stayed here while visiting Wembley. Great location, about 10 min walk to train station. Parking is limited and outside looks a bit scruffy but once inside the lobby is modern and spotlessly clean. Staff went out of their way to make our stay as good as possible. Rooms were clean and modern but the bathroom could do with being brought up to date. Overall a great value for money hotel. Will stay there again on our next trip to Wembley.
We stayed here as part of a stopover when visiting the Harry Potter studios, the staff were very pleasent and helpful, the food was excellent too. It is slowly being refurbished but the bathroom in our room was in need of a refit as it has not been updated since the 70s, this is the only negative I could find with this hotel and given time when the refurb has been completed it will be great.
Great value and location. The staff were lovely and efficient. The room was newly decorated, very clean and a really comfy bed. The bathroom suite was dated but it really didn't bother me as the bathroom was big and light with a really powerful shower. Definitely recommend if you're visiting Harry Potter, it's a ten minute walk to Watford junction where a coach picks you up.
Well this is my second visit to this hotel and they have really invested heavily and refurbished many of the public areas and bedrooms. The room was excellent and the beds are comfortable so very good all round. What stood out to me was the service...... Check in was very friendly and efficient and lady who looked after us at breakfast time was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone we met without exception said hello and were generally very courteous. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Nice reception and bar area, staff very friendly but photo above for this hotel bears no resemblance to furniture in room now after supposed improvements. New carpet but all wardrobes, bedside cabinets etc all now gone in favour of a budget hotel style like Premier Inn, with just small shelf next to bed, with shelves elsewhere and open plan hangers to hang clothes. Prices nowhere near as cheap as Premier & Travelodge if booked in advance. Tv on wall. As said elsewhere walls thin, can here conversation in next room including snoring all night.
The outside of this hotel belies the interior. Having had a facelift in the reception and some bedrooms, we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was nice, but we had a few niggles with the noisy workmen, and creaky floorboards. After speaking with the friendly manager, we had a bill reduction,as we thought £89 was rather steep, especially with noisy refurbishment going on in the building. We would definitely return if we went to the Colesseum again.
Very rarely stay in Watford and have never stayed here before. It is not in the best area and is obviously undergoing an upgrading program that is gradually extending throughout the hotel. It is reasonable enough if your expectations are kept real. On the positive side the staff are very friendly and the reception area is pleasant. For the money an OK place
I had read some reports referring to a funny 'smell'. There was - it's a new carpet smell - not one to complain about really! Staff friendly and helpful and rooms are fine. Parking is limited but there is a Public car park a short walk away. Breakfast excellent.
Stayed here for one night prior to a business trip to London. The place looks a bit worn from the outside but the lobby area and bar has had a recent makeover and looks bright and fresh. The rooms are in good decorative condition although the bathroom I had was a bit dated. The bar area was large and bright with a mixture of new seating and tables. I ate in the restaraunt which although quiet when I visited surprised me with the comprehensive menu. I had a thai green curry which was great. The car park is too small so best to get there early and grab a space.
We stayed here this weekend as we were over visiting the Harry Potter Studio Tour. Admittedly the outside of the Hotel hasn't been refurbished (yet), but the inside of the hotel certainly has. It's lovely inside, clean and modern, as are the bedrooms which were clean, neat and modern in design. The beds were very comfortable, it was quiet and a great place to relax and get some sleep after a long day walking about. Also the staff were superbly friendly and helpful. Especially Neil on the reception desk, who helped us to get a taxi back to Luton Airport. We'll likely be back to the HP Studios next year, and we will definitely be staying here again, as we had a great experience at this hotel. Fully recommended!
You may be surprised at my review, you may think I'm going to be negative but I'm definitely a fan of this (being refitted) place. Think 1980 decor. Yes, really you are frozen in 1980, Strangely, the bedroom was warm, clean and cosy in a chintz way. Everything was absolutely fine, don't get there too late otherwise you have to park in the multi storey car park (but you get a discount). The staff were super friendly and the full English was, well a full on English and it sets you up for the day. I must stress the hotel is being refurbished, but the staff were faultless and super friendly, the check in/out staff, the breakfast lady, in fact although I felt I'd gone back to 1980 it was a very pleasant experience.
Our night was spoiled by the thin walls and the noise from the neighbouring rooms. Could hear the conversation clearly. It was great to hear how much they needed to get downstairs for a spliff. Nice stench of it in the corridor as well in the morning. Rooms need modernisation. Couldn't wait to leave in the morning.
Visited for weekend with a group of varying ages. Very clean with comfortable beds and friendly, welcoming staff. Breakfast very good and reasonably priced at £7 pp. My husband and I had an evening meal which, again, was very good and well priced. The hotel is about half a mile from Watford railway station with fast trains regularly into London. A shuttle bus runs often to Harry Potter world so the hotel is well placed. The only reason I didn,t give 5 stars is due to renovation work being carried out on the hotel but this did not bother us.
Booked this hotel for a one night stopover in Watford. Firstly, I have to compliment the staff for their friendliness and courtesy, they were very helpful, but the hotel is a bit 'tired', dated and well in need of the improvements that are just being undertaken. Our room was clean and tidy enough, with a king size bed, comfortable layout, Tv, bath/over shower, loo & bidet. There's not much to see from the view from any window at the hotel, but the hotel is well located for proximity to the town and its varied shops, pubs, restaurants and night life. A big problem tip if you are travelling by car is to sort out your parking with the hotel, usually as soon as you arrive, as the hotel is located on a side road from the one way which has double yellow lines (no parking). The hotel has some parking nearby behind the hotel, (accessible via a car rental garage). It has everything you need for a one night stay and can only improve with the works being done. So overall a reasonably good nights stay, a very comfy bed and no real complaints.
Our stay at this hotel was rather unpleasant. There were constant disturbances at night i.e. we could hear a lot of noise emanating from rooms above and around us. On several occasions, there was knocking on our door. There were no toiletries in the wash room. The hallway was small and rather cramped. Not one I would recommend to my friends.
Stayed here for one night, hotel very dated and in need of refurbishment but room clean enough and reception staff helpful. Free parking is a plus. Very noisy in room when someone walking down corridor or in the room next door.
We have relatives in Watford. I first stayed here, before it was Best Western in 1977! We have stayed here many times since. During our recent visit, the hotel was undergoing refurbishment on the ground floor so guests were restricted to sitting in the reception area or the bar where the restaurant was also temporarily located. The staff were pleasant, cheerful and helpful. We were 'processed' quickly and directed to our room. A lift serves all floors. The corridors to the rooms are lined with dark wood panelling which gives it a dingy atmosphere so, not very inviting. The room and bathroom was clean and tidy. There was not much of a view from our room (hand car wash area) but, we did not expect 'The Hanging Gardens of Babylon' from a Watford hotel room. The bathroom, although clean, was looking very tired with a few cracked tiles. The bed was comfortable so we had a good night's sleep. Breakfast is buffet style with a reasonable selection of food to satisfy a normal person's appetite. As previously reported, parking is limited however, I think they have another car park across the road, I have certainly parked there in the past. In summary, not the absolute apex of hotels and is probably clinging onto the Best Western brand standards. The bed and breakfast was certainly cheaper than Premier Inn and Travelodge. We found it clean and comfortable and suited our purpose for that stay. Do not dismiss it out of hand, if you are just on a couple of nights stopover, reasonable value for easy access to London and other local sights. It would be interesting to see what improvements are currently being made and how they turn out. The panelled corridors should be addressed next.
Well after being in Watford a few years and being totally cut off from friends,me ol mucca decides to pay me a visit,I did suggest the Travelodge or Prem Inn. Anyway I gets there and as usual old habits..lol The hotel room was small but quite cosy, being the gig kids we were we put the shower on and immediately had to turn it off because the power and the heat saunafied the room in about 20 seconds.. So room OK.. My gripe now is the lady on front reception. Having some affiliation with leisure and tourism I was mortified at the sheer lack of professionalism that was displayed the morning after..I was not doing a walk of shame,I left because I had other arrangements but as I passed the reception desk the receptionist and a suited man(possibly a manager),the receptionist felt the need to call out behind me at the top of her voice "Good morning" I turned and returned the greeting, but her cards were marked and so is that of the hotel.. Customer care should be at the top of the list in an establishment that is so obviously under refurbishment, the outside looks tired and drab(so unlike the pictures on site) For me it would seem that this is a characteristic that carries right through to staff( in need of a return there too) As an avid advocate and supporter of local business, rest assured that even with a lick of paint my experience has been sullied for good..I mean you can whitewash a grave as many times as you want,it will still be full of a dead man's bones
Stayed here for the night to go to the HP studios. A pretty standard hotel, not quite what we were expecting from the photos, they were a bit misleading. I always thought Best Western's were a bit more up market. Reasonably priced to stay when we booked though. They were obviously having work done to the hotel which I appreciate. It could be clearer where the parking was, my friend had to run in to find out but was easy to find after that. Staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable etc. Like I said, pretty good but just misleading on the photos. Can't comment on the food, we didn't use the restaurant.
Worst western more like, dated and pointless decor. Loud heavy doors. Difficult limited parking. Rude unhelpful staff. Ridiculous hotel policies which should seriously be reviewed. Would not stay again!!!
Place clearly under refurbishment but the staff..! Just brilliant, help with parking, restaurant recommendations and just over all great, as single female traveller it's so nice to feel like you're safe and almost among friends, pretty sure the guys that looked after me were called Neil and raluca.. bloody awesome and best western should be proud of them!!! Would stay here again based purely on these guys! (Bathroom very dated though!)
Just stayed at the hotel very good clean service very good price close to local train station quick access to London.. Car parking on site breakfast available,Would recommend if you want a good hotel at a good price definitely stay again....
We arrived in a whirl! We were trying to attend a BPL football match and we were late! We dropped our luggage at the check in and she told us to go! We had let the hotel know we were arriving for our 28th anniversary and that we'd like a quiet room as we'd be jetlagged having just traveled in from Vancouver BC. They gave us a lovely quiet room with a chilled bottle of white wine. They treated us so very well! The next morning they had a beautiful breakfast and we had our fill! I would highly, highly recommend the BW White House in Watford!
My boyfriend and I have just returned from a 4 night stay. We were down to watch the British Masters golf. Our room was spacious and very clean and tidy. The bed was very comfy. Breakfast was amazing....choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurts and full English. We ate in the restaurant one evening and was very pleased with our meals and thought it was good value for money. The staff are so helpful and very friendly. It's a stones throw from the town so suited us fine. Thank you for a pleasant stay.
To start with the positives, which there are few unfortunately. The staff were exceptionally helpful and cheerful. The breakfast was reasonably good, with all the typical English favourites of sausage, bacon, eggs etc. Now for the rest, the corridors are very dark and very dated. The bedroom we stayed in was very small. The hotel is a nightmare to find and is not in the best location, being in the middle of a street in the middle of town. The hotel has two minute car parks at the back and you are incredibly lucky to get a space. The hotel is currently undergoing a refurbishment, which is badly needed. All in all I would strongly advise anyone thinking of booking this hotel to book somewhere else. Thanks to the staff who tried their best in a very difficult situation.
We were visiting London to see friends, and I booked into the Best Western as it was closest, I forgot it was the British Masters Golf week, and the place was heaving, however, Best Western sorted out my car parking quickly, checked in with friendly staff on hand, The deal was Bed and Breakfast, the room was clean and well appointed, Breakfast in the morning was well laid out with plenty of choices, The front desk also extended our checkout time so we could change prior to going on to our meeting, which was helpfull as it gave us time to do a bit of shopping. It was only after we had checked out that I realised I had mislaid an envelope with a rather large amount of cash inside. I phoned the hotel, and yes the cleaner had found it and handed it to the front desk attendant, The Hotel had phoned me twice ( my phone on silent) to inform me. This has reaffirmed my faith in human nature, Best Western, THANK YOU VERY MUCH
The hotel is very dated, the rooms were clean with comfy beds the bathroom was clean the location was really good for town.there is refurbishment going on at the moment but it didn't really effect our stay, the breakfast was good value for money with a lovely lady in the restaurant who made sure you had everything that you wanted.the car park is small hope they improve that as well.
I don't think I've ever stayed in a more dismal hotel. The worst night sleep I have ever had due to paper thin walls which meant I could hear when the person in the room above rolled over in bed, let alone when they got up and got ready. I may as well have shared a room with them. We were supposed to be staying a family room for 3 but there was only 1 double bed and a very small leather sofa with no bedding. The decor was so dated that I thought I'd entered a time warp. Please look elsewhere for your stay in Watford!
Rather tatty from the outside and common areas are dark and dated. The room was solid and clean, comfy and the bathroom en suite was also clean, with bidet! All quite adequate. What rays of sunshine tho were the staff - excellent in their manner and despite having to put up with the inconvenience of refurbishment - the Hotel having recently been taken over by Best Western. I do hope that in achieving the modernisation Best Western retain their second to none staff. The food in the restaurant and that at breakfast was tasty and good value for money. It is to be hoped that the arrangements for car parking improve equally with the refurbishments as well. Would I return - yes when convenient - if only to see what Best Western have achieved and to chat with the wonderful staff!
Stayed overnight for 1 night. Location really good for Town. Reception area being redone. Staff were absolutely brilliant and totally loyal to the company. Room was large and had an equally big bathroom. Clean and tidy. No air con but given a fan to compensate. Hotel needs good refurbishment not just the reception. Hall and staircase dark and dingy. However good breakfast, freshly cooked. Have given a 3 instead of a 2 because of the friendliness of the staff. They were absolutely lovely. Would I use this hotel again? Actually yes because of location and the lovely staff. Hopefully by next visit some improvements will have been made. Come on Best Western. Live up to your name!
Let's start with why it gets 1 star. The meet and greet from the receptionist was lovely and it has free wi fi. But that's it... A sweat smell; no a/c so it's hot; outdated decor and fittings; a sodden carpet outside the bathroom so there's a leak; a toilet seat with a bidet at its side preventing you from reaching the paper; general ageing; an entrance door that you can't get through easily into the hotel; a mis match of everything because of the renovation. At £79, I really thought they would offer me it all back when I showed the duty manager the mess. All he said was that he would put the room out of action (room 1 by the way) until the leak was repaired..... Never again folks
The reception is currently being worked on unfortunately it's the tiredness of the rooms and ensuites that need a refurb the staff are it's best assets ! for a best western you'd expect better, rooms too hot, wifi elusive Saturday nights noisy, average breakfast and nearly lost the car down two of the biggest potholes in watford which lurk in their car park. come on if your going to charge more than a premier inn don't offer a advocardo bathroom suite with non matching toilet seat maybe get terry and June to do the opening ceremony when you've finished papering over the cracks if only you put in as much effort with the building as you have with your excellent staff.
Without question the biggest dump I have ever had the displeasure of staying in ( and that includes some pretty ropey b&b's in run down seaside towns in my younger years ). Whilst the 1 star bedrooms are relatively clean - which was surprise based on my experiences before opening the door - the rest of the hotel is horrendous. The pokey corridors leading to the bedrooms stink of what smells like smoke and dirty carpets. The place is getting some work done at present but unfortunately that doesn't include a wrecking ball which would be the best thing that could happen to this place. My advice would be find a travel lodge all day long. Best Western - this place is a disgrace to your position of mediocrity.
This is a 1970 time capsule, very old hotel in a very poor location situated on a busy noisy junction. Car parking is very limited and tight, rooms are boiling hot with no air on and internet is pot luck. Nothing good about this everything is just bad. Plenty of modern hotels in area use one of them is my advice. I spent 2 weeks in this place and if it we're my money rather than my works I would have moved out second night.
I am writing this review from my room in the hotel, which feels like an Egyptian desert in terms of heat and suffocating humidity. This is the hottest thing I have ever had to endure. There is also no air-conditioning to relieve the burn, although, there is a fan.... which feels like it is slowly blowing lava air at me. I have 2 wet towels on me just to make it somewhat comfortable... but even that is failing, I just feel like I am slowly basting myself and going back in the oven. Avoid this hotel at all costs.. I wouldn't be surprised if Satan lurks in the basement. The food is good though, 1 star
Every effort had been made to ensure that the room was presented at it's best. The staff were friendly, polite and considerate. The bed was comfortable. As suggested in the 'user manual' in the room, the staff were prepared to bring fresh milk up to my room every time I requested it, also replenishing the coffee sachets when needed. I did wish at one point that there was a floor cloth in the bathroom to mop up the water I spilled whilst washing, so that I could avoid treading it all over the place. Customers in future may want to bring some disposable paper towels for the purpose or perhaps the hotel could provide them as it's difficult not to spill water in a bathroom during use.
The hotel is quite close to the shops in Watford and it would be easy to go to the Harry Potter experience at Warner Bros. As I didn't eat there, I can't comment on food. The room was a good size but the dividing walls seemed rather thin as televisions could be heard on both sides.
Its a cosy small hotel, narrow walkways with pleasant staff looking to help you. Its located along a fairly busy road during the day, 5-8mins walk from the Watford town centre and 20 mins to Watford junction. It has limited car parking. The room was neat clean and fairly small no safe or minibar so fairly basic. I didn't get the breakfast option so can't comment on that. Personally I would give it 2 stars overall pleasant stay nothing more can be said Thanks
We arrived earlier than the check-in time but a secure facility was available to leave our bags. We stayed one night and overall the service was very good, staff were warm & friendly. However when we returned in the evening the night porter was very sullen and unwelcoming.
I found this place without problem although parking was more of an issue. The hotel says free parking, however there is only extremely limited onsite parking. I ended up having to park in a nearby multi-storey car park that cost £10.00 for the night. I have some mobility difficulties and although it is only a short walk, it wasn't a good start to my stay. I was welcomed at reception by the friendly receptionist, the check in process was efficient and I was offered two access codes for the wi-fi. The immediate impression however, was that this was a very tired hotel, it is in urgent need of refurbishment (this is however currently underway). I took the lift to my second floor room, but this was the only time I used the lift. Again it is fairly ancient, but the most worrying aspect was that the floor of the lift has some definite "give" in it, most disconcerting! Through a maze of fake wood panelled corridors , I found my room. The first thing I noticed was the stale smell of the room and I immediately opened the windows as far as they could be opened. This was a maximum of 3 inches! The windows have open restrictors on them. The room was hot, and although there is no air conditioning, a fan was provided in the room, which did nothing apart from creating a hot breeze. The room is fairly well equipped although again, its very dated, but the room did seem clean. The bathroom is again very dated, although functional. Shower water pressure is excellent although it was almost impossible to control the temperature, no sooner had I got the temperature as I wanted it, I guess someone turned on or off their shower and the temperature of mine either went boiling hot or freezing cold. The room backed onto one of the main roads, so was noisy all night, although that said, I did sleep ok. The bed was comfortable. I had paid for breakfast and the selection and quality was ok. Pro: Very friendly staff Cons: Limited parking, very dated, noisy.
The room was lovely and spacious as was the bathroom, the town centre and a number of restaurants were within walking distance. The hotel itself was rather dated but the bed was super comfortable. The only issue I found with the place is that there is absolutely no airconditioning and therefore the room was baking! There was a small fan but it didn't really help much. I'd recommend but maybe only in the cooler months.
This place is easy to find. It is hard to park. I think parking advice should be provided when you book this hotel. The staff are helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and large. The hotel needs modernising. The bed was hard, the hotel creaked, better double glazing required. I didn't sleep well as the road was busy all night and the noise went through the room. If you are a heavy sleeper this will be no problem. I left after one night.
I have a lot to say - bear with me! We chose this hotel due to its proximity to the Harry Potter experience - it looked nice on the website, was reasonably priced and had free parking. However (and PLEASE do read to the end as, despite the following few lines, things have definitely improved!), following a fraught navigation of Watford's roads (we are first time visitors to this area but having spent a couple of days here are already finding it much easier to find our way around) and the fact that we arrived during a mini heatwave our initial impressions had us connecting to the free wi-fi in an effort to find an alternative hotel as we really didn't want to stay. These were the key issues we found initially: - having paid up front we were surprised that £30 was charged to my card at check-in (this is for convenience if we want to charge things to the room and as it happens we believe it will be refunded on checkout. Actually not a bad idea but perhaps make it an optional service? - the room key only worked for the first entry into the room and, so far, I have had to have it replaced twice (the key cards are quite sensitive and I have been keeping it in my wallet next to other cards which seems to have caused the issue) - the carpet on the stairwell was threadbare and there was a slightly odd smell which didn't bode well (but see later) - the maze of corridors required to reach our room were dark and dingy with faded prints on the wall - not the end of the world but in stark contrast to the light and fresh hotel we had just left (but see later) - when we reached the room it seemed very dated and extremely hot (although to be fair we knew there was no air con and there was a fan in the room plus it was an exceptionally hot day). We could not plug the fan in anywhere where the draft would reach us as there are no plug sockets by the bedside tables - presumably the room was designed in the days before widespread use of mobile devices and even the alarm clock had been stationed next to the TV as that was the only available plug socket - the bathroom, although clean, was an unappealing teal colour and there was black mould around the sealant - several of the TV channels had an interrupted signal - the wi-fi was a bit hit and miss - it appeared that the road noise and building work would cause problems So - this may well make us seem like horrible people but at this stage I was inclined to give a review of 1 star, forfeit the money we had paid and chalk it up to experience. What can I say - we were tired and hot and from that perspective the negative reviews hubby found online all seemed to ring very true. However THANK GOODNESS WE STAYED!!! What convinced us to give it a go was the staff and I would like to say at this point that all of the staff we have come into contact with should be commended - I suspect they know that some of the rooms are below par but they have all gone out of their way to make us feel welcome As our stay has unfolded we have realised that the renovations - which have actually not negatively impacted on our stay at all - appear to be addressing the issues we had noticed. Having a nose around we found that some of the corridors have already been painted and the carpets replaced - those corridors are like being in a different hotel! Assuming that the rooms are being updated at the same time the renovations should address the vast majority of the issues outlined above - it will just be a bit hit and miss in the meantime regarding which room you are allocated so be prepared! Added to this we have found some unexpected features which, together with the superb staff, have made this a great stay (no particular order): - towels are a good size and it was nice to find two bottles of hand wash in the bathroom. The water is also piping hot - we managed to get onto the car park throughout but be warned; it is small. However the staff are really helpful and will ensure you get parked somewhere! - the atmosphere in the lounge in the evening was lovely. We had a tray of coffee both nights - great value and a really pleasant experience, not something we would usually choose to do but we were made to feel very welcome - same at breakfast. The lady who served us was fabulous - attentive, interested in her guests and extremely approachable. I have seen a wider array of food on offer in other hotels but there was absolutely everything you needed and it tasted good. I also appreciated that breakfast was available until 9.30 - it is really handy for town - literally a 3 min walk - actually the noise wasn't a problem at all. So - despite our initial worries this has actually been a great couple of days and it was exceptionally handy for Harry Potter (which was fabulous!) Thanks to all of the staff for their efforts - much appreciated!
I really like to write positives first, but I'm struggling if honest. Staff were friendly. The parking is very poor think before booking, the hotel is in great need in all areas of TLC and it has a poor house keeping standard look about it. We had a twin room, with poor house keeping, damp smell and damp bedding. The mattresses were VERY worn and gave a poor night sleep. The room walls are VERY thin and you can hear 'everything'! The hotel is generally VERY noisy. I was offered a discount if I stayed again, but I never will, would have preferred a gesture of good will refund but my complaints was of no concern in reality.
Our 2nd stay at the white house lovely traditional British hotel.with good sized rooms.+ FREE car parking. convenient location for M1/M25 Central London only 15 minutes away on the train or underground. 10 minute walk to the station.
Getting to and from the Hotel was a nightmare. The road users are manic at best. That's what you get for driving in London. Not the Hotels fault of course, but it may tip the balance in anyone's choice of where to stay. Once there, the parking situation is tight, I mean really tight. Get your car in one of the 2 small carparks and hope you can get it out again. It amazed me how white van man could squeeze a large vehicle in such small spaces. The quality of the Hotel is OK. The service was fine and friendly. I stayed on business. Would I stay there again, I am afraid not.
This hotel is quite central to Watford but tucked behind the main shopping area. The hotel needs some attention and is looking quite tired but there is work going on. The rooms are quite comfortable and surprisingly quiet. The food is reasonable and the public area comfortable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Parking is very limited so get there early if you want a space. Not the best Best Western or the best in Watford but definitely worth considering if in the area.
From the first impression on arrival, you will want to turn and go elsewhere, as it has lots of flaking paint and rotten woodwork, and unfortunately, it doesn't get much better inside. The room we saw on the website before booking is NOTHING like the room we were given, we found a very old, tired and dated room from the 80's / 90's. The shower didn't work at all, a Pampas green suite etc. etc. BUT, the room was very clean and all of the staff we met were very friendly, helpful and professional. We will not be returning, even though we visit Watford regularly.
The hotel has a good location for Watford and links to London. The hotel was relatively clean but dated. We paid £70 for one night but I think £40-50 is a more realistic price for the quality. Breakfast was average but luke warm. Bathroom was big and beds were reasonable but the room was far too warm even with the fan on as we struggled to open the windows. There was also no extractor fan or window in the bathroom which made the humidity worse after a shower.
Stayed here for one night as we were going to visit the Harry Potter studios. First the positives. The staff at this hotel are some of the friendliest i've met, the check in was easy and we were made to feel welcome. The room was spacious with a seperate bathroom and very clean and tidy. The television had a good selection of channels for when you are settling for the night and there were plenty of windows if it got too warm. The location of the hotel has good links to Watford Junction station and indeed the Warmer Brothers studios. It is also close to the town centre for east access to bars and restaurants as well as shops. Breakfast was £7 which is quite reasonable for an all you can eat buffet. The negatives - Very few but worth a mention. Room service is only available when the restaurant is open which is a little frustrating if you are out and don't get back until after this time. The beds are not the most comfortable, but good for a couple of nights stay. The doors are quite heavy so if you get an inconsiderate guest around your room who let's there door slam, it could wake you up. The cleaning of the hotel started around 6am and as it was so quiet your could hear every stroke of the hoover which actually woke me up, hence why I'm writing this at such an early time. The road noise can be loud of an evening but you can't blame the hotel for that, but worth a mention. Overall a good stay for what we needed. This hotel is recommended if visiting for Harry Potter and will cost a lot less than ones closer. I would stay at this hotel again in future and encourage you all to check it out.
4 of us stayed here on 25th July for one night as we went to visit the Harry Potter studios. This hotel is in a good location for this. 10 mins to Watford centre where theyre are plenty of bars and restaurants, and only 15 mins walk to the train station. Lovely staff, nice clean rooms. Perfect for what we needed.
This hotel is a little dated but it is clean and the staff are very helpful. We stayed in a twin room, the beds were comfortable and the tv had a sleep timer which is a good thing for me, it was very hot when we stayed and while there was a small fan provides the only plugs for it were on the other side of the room so it didn't really help. There isn't much parking at the hotel and when we arrived it was full, but across the road is a multi story car park and the hotel discounts your ticket so you only pay £4 for 24 hours. This hotel is situated in an ideal location only a short walk from Watford Junction Station which is then about 15 minutes into London Euston. The breakfast was basic but filling and check out time is 11am.
There's plenty I could say in this review but unfortunately there's not enough time in the day so here it goes:- Amazing staff in a hotel makes a hotel home from home and it certainly did feel like home! The staff were there when we needed them and they were so so friendly Room was clean and comfy. Bathroom was clean and had lovely facilities in it. The room was a tad dated but as I have said it had everything you needed. This hotel is defiantly under rated and is a place for you to stay!
The staff at the White House were excellent, super friendly and very happy to help. The downside of the hotel outweigh the actions nice staff though. The hand car wash outside started washing cars at about 6am, they were obviously using industrial strength power washers as it was impossible to ignore them and meant seep disturbances. The rooms are dated and the hallways point to a laminate factory possibly having a job lot sale at point of construction. All in all, cheap rates are a positive along with the lovely staff but the noisy hand car wash and dated rooms put us off. Won't stay again but we are sending thanks to the staff for being so awesome.
Arrived slightly early but given a lovely welcome at Reception with rooms ready for us to move in. Both spacious singles, beautifully decorated with warm wood and spotlessly clean. Beds very comfortable with pristine sheets and duvets. Plenty of tea and coffee on the tray, also ample wardrobe and open drawer space. A special mention to the lovely gentle lady working in the breakfast room - wish I had asked her name. We arrived just 5 minutes before official end of service but she was welcoming, insisted on bringing freshly fried eggs and made sure we had everything we needed. She gave us space and time to enjoy our breakfast without feeling hurried and everything was delicious. We will definitely revisit the White House Hotel.
Nice friendly staff, A bit dated decor wise, but actually gave it move of a hotel feel about the place and less sterile than some of the other options for staying over night in a room... it was clean and well maintained. Very comfortable bed and a good night sleep which is actually what counts at the end of the day.
Stayed on Sunday 3rd July whilst visiting London - 2-3mins in taxi, 15 mins walk to Watford Junction. Check-in is only from 2pm, but they had our room ready for about 1pm - very much appreciated. Reception staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Our room was basic and quite dated, but clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a night's stay. Breakfast was good. Not great, but good for the price. The breakfast host was really lovely. Friendly and attentive. Whilst there's nothing luxurious about this hotel, it is good value and quality for the price you pay. The only slight let down was a grumpy and abrupt welcome from the night Porter when we arrived back to the hotel that night.
Clean and comfortable with attentive friendly staff. Very good value for money. Ideally suited for Watford town centre and local attractions. Hotel is undergoing some refurbishment work but this did not affect our stay.
With Central London hotels being so expensive for a late booking and their idiosyncratic self certification star system (whatever happened to AA and RAC ratings for quality?) I was looking a bit further out of town for a room yet wanting somewhere with easy transport links to London where I was on business the following day. Watford ticked all the boxes as "Junction" station (10 mins walk) is close by as is Watford underground station (15-20 minute walk). Holiday Inn was right outside the station but was a bit pricier so this "Best Western" caught my eye! A very reasonable price for a "King" double, free wi-fi and a full English breakfast to boot. BW as everyone will know is a brand with standards that must be upheld to retain their name and this hotel did not let them down. Bed was comfy, room was big, towels and pillows really good! Breakfast was plentiful and a request for a couple of poached eggs was met with a smile and a "no problem". If I had a couple of niggles, these were minor - the tv is located in a cabinet and could only be watched from the bed whereas I wanted to watch from the desk area and my wi-fi was a bit "reluctant". Other than that you should give this hotel consideration even if you plan to visit central London (only takes 15 minutes or so to Euston).
Ideally located, only a couple of miles from the M1 motorway. The staff were extremely helpful, and the rooms were of a good size, and we had connecting family rooms. Only negative is that it does need a bit of TLC.
Upon arriving at the hotel we were greeted with a rather shabby looking building with a poor paint job and absolutely zero parking! After finding a nearby multi-storey car park we came over to the hotel and were greeted by two lovely receptionists who were very warm and friendly. We then walked towards our room to be greeted by the pungent smell of cleaning chemicals which nearly gave my fiancée an asthma attack and the room was also the same. I have no idea what cleaning products they use but the smell is horrendous and way too overpowering! The bathroom is rather outdated and you need to be a giant in order to reach the toilet paper holder from the toilet itself. We arrived back in the evening and had a few drinks in the bar, once again the staff being very helpful and accommodating and when getting back to the room we were greeted again by the same chemical smell as before as we had not wanted to leave the window open due to being adjacent to an Enterprise car park. The final icing on the cake was when my girlfriend pulled back the bedsheets when we were going to sleep and finding blood stains on the bedsheets which as you can imagine was not ideal. The member of staff on duty was shocked and appalled and good not have been more apologetic but the offer of a free breakfast was not exactly what we wanted after having seen the state of everything else in the hotel. This hotel is in desperate need of a revamp and Best Western should really be ashamed of the standards here apart from the front of house staff who have been excellent!
If you need to stay in this part of North-West greater London Area I would certainly recommend this hotel. Rates are reasonable and it is clean and comfortable. Yes the Bathroom featured dark green elements which some folks have defined as '70 look, but everything was functional and clean. My bad was a little sagging in the middle and a bit short (I'm tall) but the bed linen was smooth and clean and I slept well. Very Quiet. They spray deodorant in abundance, maybe to mask some funny smell. Probably better not too do that so much?
Great hotel clean comfy , staff welcoming , parking tight need to get there early!, Full size single bedsin our double , nice size room Shower didn't want to play but full size bath with Lots of hot water World deff stay again
Ever wanted to go to the states and stay in a motel well there's no need. This place is just like a motel. You park outside the front door on the kerb (no space for me when I arrived). I had to stay opposite in a multi-storey. The rooms are dull and with pebble dash wallpaper. The lobby looks like a soulless and lifeless area where the dead come to rest. The rooms are quite spacious but you can hear every creak of you neighbours steps and if they decide to have a shower or flush their toilet it's like a Apollo rockets taking off. I was woken up with the light shining through the papery him curtains.
Would be good to know there is more parking out the back rather than just the few places at the front or that there is discounted parking nearby which is only 200 yards round the corner at just £4 per day
The staff are very friendly. The rooms are very dated and there was a weird musky smell. The lift was very nervewracking. However the bed was extremely comfortable and it was a reasonable price. Managed to park straightaway...for free!
From arrival, until the time I departed, the staff were wonderful and really helpful. It was easy to find my way around, and with it's central location, it is ideally suited for walking out in the evening. Even with the limited parking, they go out of their way to help get your vehicle parked safely.
OK, so the hotel itself is very tired, basic and dated and the walls are very thin!! BUT, On the plus side, it is in a good location, the bathroom was clean and the bed was comfy. Free wifi also. But best of all were the very friendly, helpful, warm and welcoming staff - they are a credit to the hotel.
I picked the Best Western as I have stayed at other venues with no issues. The hotel is on the edge of town and is set along a side street. The facade of the building got my hopes up that inside would be as elegant. A tired and dated crossroadsesque reception and bar area with a small restaurant. The reception staff however were lovely, friendly and helpful. I went to my room which was on the first floor, the carpet on the stairs was worn bare and with my slight footfall each step sounded as if an army were climbing with me. My room was at the rear of the building and I negotiated a series of doors and dark stained wood clad walls to reach it. A relatively small room with 1980's style fixtures and furnishings. The bathroom suite (with bidet) and a very short bath was in pale avocado. The view from my room was a skip, the enterprise car rental yard and a hand car wash, all of which made a cacophony of sound, coupled with the heavy traffic on the road to the rear, the old double glazing just couldn't muffle. The oddest thing was having no power socket close to the bed the nearest one I could see was on the opposite wall. The little tea tray was well stocked with tea/coffee, but no biscuits. When I went down for breakfast the next morning it was in the restaurant behind reception, selection of fruits, cereals, morning goods and a hot buffet. Not a good selection of teas and no grapefruit juice. I was glad to only be staying for a short time.
Great hotel with great staff. Only issue is the walls are extremely thin but as long as your neighbours aren't too loud, and with most being there on business that's not much of an issue. Would recommend this hotel.
When we arrived we couldn't park at the hotel due to a 'first come first served' policy which was fine because it's only £4 to use the public one for 24 hours. Myself and my partner some how parked at the wrong one and were left wondering round Watford for 30 mins, but peter the manager came and met us in town and walked us to the hotel to check in and relax. Then the duty manager drove us to where we parked our car and then directed us to the correct car park, the duty manager then gave me a free drink for my birthday, on top of this they gave us a complimentary breakfast in the morning (which was very good). The service we received from the staff was amazing. Bed was very comfortable and it was quiet, bathroom was a bit dated but we didn't care. Would stay again.
The previous weekend I was in 41 hotel and the White house is not to be compared with that but if you are looking for a base from which to do business, then this fits the job perfectly. The rooms are comfortable and the location is great for central Watford. The price is certainly excellent value for money. Breakfast was well thought out with a good range of options and the cooked option was pretty fresh too. When I have to stay overnight in Watford I shall return.
The green baths are not very appealing and the bathrooms desperately need updating. Also the walls are very thin so it is very difficult to get to sleep when you can clearly here the room next doors conservation. However the staff are really for fly and the location is useful.
This hotel is in an older building, doesn't look much from the outside but inside is nice and clean. There is a free parking at the rear. Reception is extremely friendly and helpful, we were very well served on some change of the reservation. Downstairs is a bar and lounge. WiFi works very well. We had breakfast elsewhere. From the hotel it is a 5-7 minute walk to the main shopping street where there are some restaurants and pubs. From the hotel it is a 15 minute walk to Watford Junction station from where regular train service will take you to Euston station is 20 or 45 minutes.
Stayed here for two nights visiting family near watford easy to find central hotel. typical Best Western Hotel, a trip back in time, we loved it. very handy for the M25. We had no problems at all. Good breakfast to start the day. Will be using this hotel again.
I stay regularly at this hotel on business and I cant praise the hotel too much for the quality of service, the food and most of all the staff who are always helpful and very friendly. the hotel is centrally located and provides a good standard of accommodation throughout.
We stayed here so we could visit the Harry Potter studio tour. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the cost is reasonable. They have limited parking but try hard to accommodate you. The hotel is looking a little tired and needs some modernisation. There is a bar. Breakfast was good with a variety of choices , at a reasonable cost. The rooms were a little hot and noisy.
Stayed here recently on a business trip. Warm greeting and was given access to parking which is a rareity in that area. Room was ok and staff accomodating but the room was far too hot overnight (i slept above the covers and im a snuggler). Would benefit a less wooden look inside as it felt slightly dated.
Have stayed in The White House Hotel a few years ago and was impressed how close it was to Watford Centre and had Car Parking! Stayed over again this weekend... Yes, it does need a bit of TLC - and an update, but overall, still a very nice place to stay. The Staff on reception were excellent - very friendly and helped with Car Parking (as the main Car Park was full) - They managed to find a space at the side of the Hotel... Room was big - clean and the bed was HUGE (American style) Breakfast was good (again, staff were really cheerful and friendly!) Overall - You pay for what you get... If you are looking for a decent, friendly hotel in the Centre of Watford, this ticks all the boxes...
Went to celebrate a friends birthday, booked 2 rooms adjacent. Arrived booked so far so good, my bed smelt of cigarettes, I told the reception, I was told the sheets would be changed, we could not get wifi. The sheets were never changed, when booking out the next morning, we told the duty manager, her response oh sorry about that, at £90 room only, I would have expected much better, worse Best Western that I have stayed in, and I have stayed in a few. Went to leave and our car was blocked in and we had to wait 3 hours before we could leave as the owner could not be found as he had gone out. NEVER AGAIN, very bad customer relations, poor accommodation and a don't care attitude
We travel up from Devon to visit family in the Watford area on a regular basis. We used to stay at another Hotel, But the welcome we receive at the Whitehouse Best Western is really excellent. The staff are so helpful and genuinely do care. Think the price with breakfast is really good value. Book and try for yourself!!
The last thing you really wish to face after a long drive is a battle with parking your vehicle, and the convenience of unloading. There is virtually no hotel parking at all, it is brushed over too lightly in the Website info. David Jones
The hotel reception & bar areas are lovely and my room a good size but was terribly dated and could have done with a complete referbishment. The walls are so thin that I could hear the movements of the guest in the next room as if I was in the room with them. So if you are a light sleeper take earplugs. I ordered room service which was delivered promptly and was of a high standard however as I had pre paid for my room I had to pay for it on 'delivery' which was mildly inconvenient. The absolute positive for this hotel is its staff all of whom are exceptionally warm, friendly, efficient and professional I could not fault the service in any way at all - it is just a shame that hotel hasn't invested in itself as much as it evidently had in its staff.
Stayed here for the weekend, and have to say the staff on reception were possibly the friendliest I've ever encountered. Greeting on arrival was perfect so box ticked straightaway. Stayed in a twin room on the ground floor at the front of the hotel, so was concerned there might be noise from traffic or passers by, but can confirm there were no issues at all. Room was spotless and a great size. Hotel is located centrally with only a couple of minutes walk to bars and the nightlife of the town. Just off the ring road so very accessible by car, Watford Junction is less than 10 minutes walk. Close to Cassiobury Park which is great for a walk to get some fresh air, and near to Watford Met for the tube. Well worth a visit if you're travelling to Wembley, which is why I stayed along with friends.
Had not been to Watford for over 15 years, so had some difficulty finding the hotel. We parked in wrong place at front of hotel so had to move to carpark at back of hotel. As both my husband and myself are disabled we were moved to room on ground floor. Very small, decor was tired and dated, bed narrow and window overlooked Enterprise business, so curtains had to be kept closed. It served a purpose, but was rather disappointing. We paid for breakfast, and this was a buffet format, this was adequate and lady in restaurant ( Pam) was very friendly and helpful.
This hotel is very dated, the bed possibly the most uncomfortable bed I have endured and the shower is so powerful it flies out of its holder and burst blood vessels on the skin! However good location to the nice town centre with plenty of shops and placed to eat, only a 5 minute walk. Taxi prices are extortionate so walk to the town or train station if you can! Breakfast is not included but it was nice food here and everywhere is very clean. The night porter was very helpful, reception staff I think may have been new as we were told to pay for each night stay, on the day to reactivate our keycards to get back to our things but this was soon sorted thanks to a more experienced member of staff. Very little parking so get there close to check in time if you need to park.
This Hotel is one of the nicest places I have stopped for a while, the two ladies on reception are the most pleasant hard working staff I have encountered. Nothing is too much trouble and they always have a smile on their faces. We arrived in a big works van, so the receptionist came out and moved some barriers so we could park on the front of the hotel as the car park is a bit tight. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Stayed for one night. Can't really complain. Average hotel, good bed, free Internet, for the noise sensitive people this might not be the best place as you easily can hear your neighbours talking, friendly staff. A bit old but not a big problem for me. Decent size rooms. The bad thing is the limited parking spaces unfortunately
Only stayed one night whilst visiting friends, hotel was clean and average decor, English breakfast was reasonably good, the staff were excellent, the night watchman and girls at reception very helpful, the manager helped to park car in rear car park and said goodbye when we left and asked if all was ok with our visit, he also told us the hotel was about to have a complete refurbishment . I would not hesitate to stay there again.
Stayed one night on business. Room very clean. Decor a bit dated but good choice of TV channels and crisp clean bed linen and towels.Breakfast good choice of cooked food buffet style. Convenient location. Friendly staff.
Good hotel, pleasant staff, doesn't look good from the outside but there is a lot of building work going on. The you don't sleep outside, everything else very good would highly recommend only thing restrurant not open on weekend
We stayed here whilst attending a friend's wedding. There were various arrangements which could have gone spectacularly wrong if it weren't for the attentive and exceptional staff . They made sure our whole stay was smooth and trouble free and went the extra mile in so many ways. Thank you.
I have stayed here before when i attend a reunion nearby i have always s found the staff helpful and friendly .Thee venue is near to the local rail link i use and the town center and shop s are just a short walk away
Stayed at the hotel for the Saturday night with a group of 10 friends. We were fortunate to be able to park both our cars in the hotel carpark at the back. When we checked in after going in to Watford Town Center we were told one of our cars had a ticket as we should of told them we were staying but the Deputy Manager said he would get it recinded which was great. They also managed to change our rooms to be together on one floor which was brilliant customer service and they were friendly. Rooms are comfortable but in need of redecorating. Overall, a comfortable stay in a great location and the hotel staff were great.
We stayed for one night, rushed in and then out again for an event. Staff were excellent, helpful, friendly welcoming. Room good for the price, but a little dated. If you are staying a short time would recommend. Only concerns, were the car park looked like it had seen better days and the room was very warm, but we were nervous leaving the window open on the ground floor. Well price, great staff and very clean.
The staff at this hotel are excellent. As a woman travelling alone and arriving at the hotel at 10.30pm I was extremely grateful to the member of staff who moved her own car to allow me on-site parking. The room was large and clean and tidy
On arrival we could find where the parking was so had to ring and ask. The place could do with some updating in the rooms but it was clean and tidy cant complain we were put in a family room to our disgust the people in both family rooms around us where lets say doing things loudly which isnt appropriate for the family sector of the hotel. The food is great room service was very prompt id stay again and would recommend
The parking is tight and it's first come first served but this is a hotel in a highly built up area in the centre of a major town. The rooms and public areas do need a refurbishment but they are clean, comfortable & warm. All of the staff are excellent, caring and helpful. the food is of a good standard and not expensive. Room service is fast and efficient. Breakfast is very good with a buffet service. Overall the hotel feeling comforting and the people caring, price good - what else is needed for a couple of nights.
Stayed for one night as was going out for the evening. The walls are paper thin, so don't expect a lie in. The rooms could do with re-decorating but the bed was comfortable. The hotel has hardly any parking and it is a tight fit if you do get a space. The reception were great though.
Good value hotel but the whole place is a little dated and in urgent need of an upgrade, bit of an eighties throwback, please bring this into the 21st century.... while you are at please address the sneaky floors and poor sound proofing, sounded like there was a baby elephant upstairs Note limited parking on site get there late and you will have to use the local multi storey Have to say 5/5 for the staff very friendly and helpful and good standard of food at a decent price .... good breakfast too
Excellent stay! Good location - 2 minutes High Street, 10 minutes walk from football ground. Clean rooms. Parking. Good bar area. Evening meal very nice and buffet breakfast (£7 if booked night before) very good. Excellent staff, nothing too much trouble! Look forward to staying again! Paid just over £53 for double room on a Saturday night.
Absolutely fine hotel... Was a little hitch with booking all sorted with a free breakfast for the slight hitch.. Hotel is close to town centre ( walking distance ) would be more than happy too use the hotel in the future if needed.. All staff friendly and helpful
The hotel sounds like a squeaky house ..everything squeaks: floors, doors, beds and walls are thinner than paper, nobody can move without being accompanied by a screeching trail, thus you are in close contact with your neighbors' lifes, no matter if they are snoring, watching TV, talking each other or on the phone or having sex...really, too much intimacy and no chance to have a decent rest in the night; the place is old and worn, the shower is just dripping (no pressure) and you have to be a plummer to understand how you have to flush the toilet...really annoying atmosphere, what a pity that the place doesn't match the quality of people that are working there... Otherwise, decent room as size, warm and cleanliness, good wifi, the hotel has a very good location (5 min walking from city center and 15 min from Metropolitan Tube), very nice and helpful staff (Roxana, Pepe), but...
I stayed at this Hotel a few years ago and it was awful! It's now under new management and is much better. The staff are very helpful , nothing is too much trouble. I was told the Hotel is being refurbished next year which will greatly improve it. Our room and bathroom although very old fashioned was spotless and there were nice fluffy white towels. We didn't experience any noise and slept well. I would recommend it for a short stay.
Stayed just overnight cheaper than the other hotels £79 for two people.very dark furniture and old fashion bathroom, very noisy floorboards and can hear people talking when you are in your room. The staff were friendly enough, went to wetherspoons for breakfast only £3.
Highly recommended nice room poor shower friendly staff. Easy reach of town centre and trains to London. Restaurant quiet and friendly. Bar would have been improved by stocking at least one beer but OK if you like lager
We have been few times here in the last 9 months and we were never disappointed. From the beginning you are welcomed by the reception staff smiling, helpful and very nice all the time. The rooms although need refurbishment, are cosy and warm, clean, TV with very good signal and a lot of choices, the heater was working excellent, with no noise. We spent this time 2 nights here and we've been take care for. Congrats to the reception and housekeeping staff for their professionalism.
Hotel was convenient for one night, but it needs a full refurbishment. The bed was very uncomfortable, there was noise from people on the terrace below, walls are thin so we could hear other conversations, and someone attempted to get in our room at night (although we hope that was a genuine error). Parking was a nightmare and there are no signs to direct you to a car park area. We were located on the first floor and both on our arrival and the following day, there was a strong smell of cigarettes in the corridor, despite the hotel being smoke free. Staff must have been able to smell it too. It puts everyone's life in danger. On the plus side, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Once we got parked up at the rear, a staff member came out to greet us and offered to help with bags. Breakfast was acceptable with a variety of cereal, fruit, toast, juice, and cooked items. It was acceptable for our needs, for 1 night only.
What a gem! Booked via booking.com as not to far to get to Harry Potter studios. 5 minute walk to new shopping centre. Rooms lovely and big, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and nicely presented. The staff are on another level so helpful and friendly big thumbs up guys. Would defiantly recommend ??
I booked this hotel out of convenience to avoid driving from central London in the early morning traffic. This building has surely seen better days. The rooms are all right, sleeping quality is fine, however, the corridors are real labyrinths, the (free) hotel parking is somehow secluded in the back, the quality of the breakfast buffet was average. Value for money? Yes indeed, however, I will not repeat this experience.
Everything was just great! Small village hotel, with great staff, very helpfull and a nice bar :) I am going back next time I'm in Watford. Nice and cheap. Easy to get to London, and easy to get to Harry Potter Studio. So just a good experience :) Thanks !
this hotel is a short walk from watford junction station and is near to the city centre.on arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming.the hotel is an older kind of building with a conservatory for the dining room.breakfast was really nice and of good quality.there was always plenty of staff on duty at any one time and they always greeted us with a smile.the room was quite big as was the bathroom and beds were very comfortable.we would certainly return to this hotel in the future.cant fault anything about this hotel and it was good value for money.
Extremely welcoming staff in reception, allowed us to book in early, directed us to the car park and our appointment. Room was clean and comfortable. Large bathroom, but no shower cap or hair conditioner. Great breakfast. One small thing was fellow guest charging about the corridors at 4.00a.m.making a great deal of noise. Not the Hotel fault.
Stayed at this property for a fortnight on a business trip. Though my work was at a nearby town called Hatfield but Watford being a much more popular location chose to stay here. Firstly the proximity to High Street gives this property a huge plus. You would find anything and every thing from food, to banks, to malls, to transport in a 5-10 minutes walking distance. Breakfast was decent but nothing fancy. I was given a room right across the street from their main lobby area. It was pretty quiet a neighbourhood though my next door guests were having a big fight for sure on one of the nights. Rooms were decently sized with the basic amenities at hand. Staff were friendly and polite and pretty prompt to cater to any requests I had. It is a basic hotel with nothing much fancy to talk about, but when you are back from a day's work it does suffice in providing a good and quiet sleep.
Check in was speedy, the guy on reception was very helpful especially with finding us parking. The hotel is in a good location, near to the town centre but off the main road making it fairly quiet outside. The bar area is decent and opened 24 hrs and shows tv all day. The room itself was spacious, beds were comfy and the room all though slightly old fashioned, had all the things you need such as wardrobe, cabinets, a sofa, seat, desk etc. The shower was ok, bit slow but the toilet and bathroom were fine and again quite spacious. The only complaint I would have is that in e morning it was very noisy in the hotel, this could be coz we were on the ground floor maybe. Good value for Watford. Paid 69 quid which is cheap in this area. Check out was very quick. Wifi was free but slow. Recommended
We Stayed after a visit to the Harry Potter Studios. It was a bit far from the station and we had to take a taxi. The room was spacious and comfortable enough, though the entire place seems a bit outdated. The High Street is conveniently close to find a meal.
Staff were very friendley and helpful At all times. The hotel was very clean and up to date the rooms were fantastic and the beds were very comfortable. Plus the bar and surrounding area was very relaxing.also its only a short walk into the central shopping area. Well worth a visit and great value for money. we shall be staying there again. Only one fault the wifi connection is very poor.
We stayed here for one night after visiting the Harry Potter studios. The room was a little dated but was clean, comfortable and a good size. The room had all the basics including tea and coffee making facilities and a big comfy bed. Breakfast was good and the hotel staff were friendly. The hotel is in a good location within walking distance of the town, train station and restaurants. There is a small car park at the back but unfortunately it was not big enough for us to leave our car in while we went into London the day of checking out. Overall a pleasant stay.
This hotel I find is perfect for my needs, as a regular business traveller I think the hotel is perfectly situated to travel in and out of London. The staff are warm and friendly and always very accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are a little dated but very clean and comfortable. The only negative is that parking on site can be a problem sometimes but there is a multi storey very close if you are unable to park in the hotel car park.
Oh dear, where to start. The anaglypta wallpaper on the ceilings- the whisper grey bathroom suite coupled with blue Formica sheet and pink silicone- the floral headboard? It was all so dated and tired and sad. The public areas were no better. The price was ok, but I expect a large group like Best Western to do better than this. The staff were friendly and attentive- we didn't use the restaurant so can't comment on that, but the whole place needs upgrading. Soon. There was a fight going on in an adjacent room and I woke up startled as it sounded like someone was trying to break in through the window. I really didn't feel safe. If you ever find yourself in Watford needing a bed- I would recommend you look further afield than The White House.
Stayed here again this year for our annual school reunion. I gave this hotel a poor revue last year. This year I was given a room was on the second floor and was a vast improvement from the rabbit hutch I was given last year. The staff were cheerful and very good and helpful in all departments and are an asset to the hotel. We did not notice any refurbishments from last year, despite being told they were refurbishing the hotel.
Had a 1 night stay with friends. Hotel is clean and staff were friendly. Room was on 2nd floor. It was clean apart from around the taps in the bath. I tried to have a shower but the water was cold. The bed was really comfortable and had a great sleep. The hotel is located really close to the town centre so great for going out.
This is a coverted old house and it shows from the decor. The window on the staircase looked as though someone had tried to cut a hole in the glass. Thin walls means you hear the TV in next room which was not acceptable late at night and I could not sleep. The floor boards all creak. The shower had no water pressure and was not possible to shower. I will not stay here again as this was not accetable.
