"A great stay for our son's weekend wedding"
We had a wonderful 2 night stay at The Best Western in Sycamore, Illinois. They offered everything we needed as well as a nice complimentary breakfast each morning. The pool looked inviting, but we had no time to enjoy it. The wedding party also enjoyed their stay. Thank you so much.
"Dreadfully bad."
This place is in need of renovation and I'd suggest starting with a bulldozer. I recently stayed for a week at this property and couldn't believe the condition of the property. My first impression was the smell (a "non smoking" room that smelled like it had previously been a smoking room). I then discovered the furniture falling apart. At one point during my stay there was a leak from the floor above and part of the ceiling caved in. After moving to another room I discovered black mold around the window and a carpet threshold curling up at the edges presenting a trip hazard. It was frankly astonishing how terrible this hotel was.

Leif, Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I apologize that we obviously failed you. You will be happy to know we have started renovations on the hotel. We are redoing our guest rooms and all public areas. I will be working with my staff to improve our cleanliness and prevenative maintenance. "Great option in DeKalb/Sycamore area"
Visiting my son who lives in the area. Hotel is very nice. Location is good. Very close to restaurants. Beds were very comfortable. Covid protocols were followed closely. Not a ton of options in the area, I think this one is the best.

"The best place to stay in the DeKalb or Sycamore area by far!"
The best hotel for Sycamore, DeKalb and surrounding area by far! Nancy, Lori, Amber and all the staff treat you like family and do a great job. The hotel is convenient for both cities and is registered in both Chambers of Commerce. It is convenient to everything you need. This Holiday Inn Express & Suites is now being featured on the Planet Fitness Network in DeKalb. I highly recommend staying here!

We appreciate your kind words. We love to welcome people to the area and back to our hotel. We do have a good location close to the University but just far enough away. We do have many restaurants close by as well as shopping.
"NIU visit - grad student visit"
We booked this hotel as we needed a few nights to see NIU...our daughter is coming here for grad school in the fall. The hotel was great! They were great for check-in...gave us great advice for local Chicago pizza (Giordano's)! Quiet in the evening/nighttime. Close to everything. Breakfast was good. When we return in August to move her in, we will be back!

"Staff was the redeeming quality "
We arrived at our $189 room which was pricey due to Parents Weekend at NIU apparently to find a broken dresser w/ the drawer face propped against a wall. Grabbed a quick shower to see the rod hanging a bit and the wallpaper pulled off. (See pics). I picked up the desk phone to let the desk know so i wouldn't get charged for existing damage but no dial tone. So We used the bedside phone and called down- they offered 1,000 points (18-22k is 1 night). Breakfast was typical HI Express the breakfast worker was very nice and kept up with demand well- Price is a 1 (stayed at better places for half $) Updates/condition a 3 Staff friendliness a 5
