Hotell Frykenstrand, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

We have stayed in various cozy old hotels around Sunne for several years; places with a soul; buying a theater package for Selma Lagerløf plays at Vestanå theater. Trying a new place this years proved a disappointment; Frykenstrand feels like you are walking in the corridoors of a hospital. Buying the theaterpackage here does not include much, certainly not what the other places offer. You don't get free transport to and from the theater, so forget about that glass of wine you would perhaps enjoy before you have to drive there yourself. Coming back after the theater performance, your theater package include a cheece platter. Contrary to other Sunne hotels, Frykenstrands platter is extremely limited and simple; just a couple of cheeses, biscuits, fruits and jams. Random,y placed in a dark, non attractive area. And the glass of wine all other places include, you don't get at Frykenstrand. Free water though…. All in all a disappointment and regret we booked here. Won't be repeated….

This hotel looks like it was last renovated and furnished about 50 years ago. We booked a 2 bed, room with a view. The room and furnishing reminded me of a small college dorm room. To the right I did have a nice view of the water but to the left I saw the side of the hotel. Beds were small and saggy. No refrigerator. Toilet had a pull knob which I haven't seen in years. The ala carte dinner menu only had two entrees with a meat dish and cold salmon. We decided to eat elsewhere. Worst of all, the parking lot was on a ledge above the hotel. You had to walk down about a 25 meter walkway with 25 steps There was no ramp. This was difficult to traverse with luggage. There is no elevator in hotel. The hotel would be impossible to manage if you were very old debilitated or disabled. The receptionist did not offer to help with luggage. The only good thing about the hotel was breakfast which was of acceptable quality. However the breakfast room was supposed to open at 7:00 but they were still putting food out. I was surprised that Best Western let's the hotel use their name.

We've stayed a few times! It's very convenient for us when we're going skiing to stay at this hotel overnight so I don't have to drive so many hours! The family room has been good! We like the breakfast. The only thing thats a bit negative is that you can really here people walk in the corridor.

Wasted hours on hopeless EV charging provider chosen by hotel and chose hotel for reasons of promise of EV charging. Stay away from hotels in any way affiliated with “Recharge”. 01AM - hope at least breakfast is good. Btw reception closed 2200 so no help there…

We have visited Hotel Frykenstrand three times over the last few years and are very happy about the hotel. Coming back next summer! A "must": To swim in the relatively cool lake before breakfast. A nice way to start the day!

Very nice hotell with smiling staff. You can tell alot of heart is put in to the food and the rooms are clean. Bathrooms could be better but not a problem of any kind. Very good prices both for rooms and for food.
