Je m’inscris Our stay here was very good. The hotel was modern and clean with good facilities. Our room was lovely, comfortable beds, and a lovely shower. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant, which again, was very good and inexpensive. I would definitively recommend this hotel.
I was on my way home and just needed somewhere close to the A1. I was pleasantly surprised by the good size room, comfy bed and spotless bathroom. I'd had a difficult journey and the staff were lovely, helping me to relax. The receptionist found me a nicer room than my original booking and the barman had a nice chilled glass of rosé for me.
We had a pleasant stay on our way home from Scotland. The rooms were comfortable and the bathroom was lovely and bright and very clean. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed so had a pizza delivery. Very reasonable rates. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.
When we pulled into the car park we thought we had made a grave mistake as the frontage of the hotel looked unloved and untidy. Once in the hotel it was apparent that a refurb was in progress and it looked clean and tidy. There was no dinner available but we went into nearby Leeds and had plenty of choice. Breakfast was good and we found staff friendly and helpful. It was incredibly good value and a good overnight stop.
We stayed here for just one night as a break away and couldn't have asked for more. The location is easy to find with plenty of parking right outside the hotel door. The reception is open, bright and clean. The greeting we received from Marie S was a true Yorkshire welcome, we were made to feel at home straight away and that nothing would be too much trouble. After checking into our room we were welcomed in the bar area by Kim who was also absolutely lovely. The customer service we received from both these ladies was second to none and they are an absolute credit to this hotel. Our room was exactly what we would expect, clean and with all the amenities we needed. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm. Breakfast was a good selection of hot and cold food, plenty of choice and again we were looked after superbly by Kim and Marie S. Thank you ladies for making our mini break a fabulous experience. Look forward to seeing you both in the future.
Pillows are too bulky and had to take 1 off bed. The was apparently 2 Coolair systems to the rooms/hotel and both not working. Had to speak with reception to get something sorted and still did not resolve problem. Windows had a covering over to make them unable to open. Was told they had complained to management to get windows to open with a lock on them but building is only ground and one floor high so don't understand the problem. Was helped with the air in the room by staff by being given a fan by staff member.
The glossy website states “The Watermill Restaurant & Bar, serving a wide variety of delicious meals each day” that's the first piece of misleading information as they are starving food atm The second was the constant banging of room doors hardly a “focus on relaxation” The room had no bed side lamps the main light was like a Second World War search light A very poor service on what was a good looking web page
Arrived at the hotel last Saturday, first impression the car park looked like a building site but I was not out off as it was obvious some improvements must be being made. Lady on reception was very pleasant and said she would check if the room had been cleaned as she was short of cleaning staff, a few minutes later all good and we were checking In however we were then told the restaurant was not opening tonight due to shortage of staff, seems a common theme here, still not being put off we went to our room which was ok, nothing special but it would do. We got up and went to breakfast and while passing reception the lady told us there may be a delay as they were busy, no problem we went and had a seat but it was obvious from the people complaining that something was not quite right. All was revealed when the lady in charge came to tell us there would be no breakfast as the chef had "done a runner" this was now proper Fawlty towers stuff, so we packed up and went on our way. I wrote to Best western and was told my email was forwarded to the hotel for comment and within 2 days I got the generic apologetic response which I knew was coming, it seems managers have forgotten how to do a personal response, I emailed back and said while I accepted the apology I had paid extra for breakfast and had not received it and while it was not life changing money I should be refunded as a matter of principal as there had been no breakfast, I got a response back saying they would pay it into my bank account, it has not arrived back in my account. Best western, please keep the money it's obvious you need it more than I do, maybe stick it towards some staff, don't treat the public like fools, an apology and refund would have went a long way to accepting that your hotel was sub standard, to anyone booking this hotel I would phone before you arrive and check if the chef has done a runner and if so just book somewhere else as it's over £100 a night for nothing more than a sub standard hotel.
It's a no frills motorway hotel , that said it was good value , the room was a good size , very clean , comfortable bed , nice bathroom ( everything worked and it didn't look tired or shabby) and the breakfast was good . Plenty of on site parking and the piece de resistance were the staff , extremely friendly, cheerful and helpful. I'd definitely stay there again.
Hotel was close to a local event we were attending, room was just what we needed, breakfast wasn't consistent two days in a row with it being over cooked on the first morning but was better on the second day. Nice touches in room like hot choc etc
Excellent hotel. Newly re-opened following a refurb. Good sized rooms and spotless facilities Super friendly staff - welcoming and chatty Pet friendly - our doggy loved it too Really comfy bed with air conditioning in the room Excellent.
We stayed here for two nights as a base to explore other cities. As far as we could tell it had not long opened as it had been closed to the public. We booked a twin room with a disabled access toilet. The room was old fashioned but clean enough and the beds were comfy. The staff were pleasant, but the Polish man (I didn't catch his name sorry) at night was the nicest and most polite man. Location wise it was perfect for us and although on a busy road, we never heard any traffic. Good sized car park and easy to get a space. On our first morning (Sunday) we went for breakfast and had to figure everything out ourselves. It was cereal, toast or small muffins. The tea and coffee were in large decanters and had been there for a while as the water was luke warm (although this was changed when we asked for it by the receptionist). There was no cutlery or napkins on the tables and no one in sight , it was very strange. We were disappointed by breakfast especially as we had paid an extra 40 pounds to have a decent breakfast. The next morning (Monday), it was like a different hotel. We had cutlery on the tables, pots of tea and were asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast. When we enquired why this hadn't been the case yesterday we were told their new chef only started that morning. We explained how annoyed we were that we had paid all this extra money and the lack of choices were crazy. Apparently we should have received a phone call telling us this which we did not. The receptionist refunded our 40 pounds through booking.com and although it took nearly two weeks we did get refunded. The cooked breakfast was lovely but it was not enough to recommend this hotel. It is understandable that the hotel has been shut and might have just opened however, it was opened so surely you would have everything in place and ready even if it meant providing more than cereal and a pastry for your breakfast. Perhaps if it was renovated and modernised and had a decent food system in place, it might look a bit more appealing.
This proved to be an excellent choice for an overnight stay. Room comfortable and clean. Staff were all lovely and made my husband, myself and our dog very welcome. Thank you chef, breakfast was great. Good stop over hotel for long journeys, we will be visiting again.
Lovely room well appointed clean and comfortable, breakfast was fantastic we both enjoyed. The only slight issue, we arrived at 9-30 in the evening and could used a bite to eat no hot food available but crisis and snacks were, could have taken a pot noodle or something on those lines. Bar was open so crisps and bits it was
Stayed here with my family for four nights and it was awful. We could hear people talking outside our door in the early hours of the morning it sounded like Arabic.. maybe people were praying I couldn't say. The Wifi was slow the beds had a strange smell all in all it was a bad experience and we won't be returning.
I've been coming here every month for a meal, but a few months back, I got turned away when I required a room and an evening meal. Reason given illegal immigrants were being accommodated there, and the hotel will be closed to the general public until further notice. Stay clear of this hotel at all cost. I will take my business elsewhere where if my hard earned money is not good enough now it won't be in the future. Hope more people follow in the same way sell out to the British people and taxpayers, tut tut
It was easy to find, the parking was good. The double room was a very good size with a large TV. The bathroom had a heated floor which was a nice touch for November. WiFi was good, minor annoyance was having to sign in each time but it was good in all areas and free so can't really complain.
Thank you to the hotel and staff. Facilities were excellent. Room was pitch black which was great. Very quiet. Great staff. Allowed us to book in early under exceptional and sad circumstances so it was really appreciated. Thank you for your understanding. Will recommend. 5 star
The hotel was very clean and staff was excellent couldn't do enough for us excellent evening meal in the restaurant would definitely recommend to friends went in to Harrogate shopping on first day and York the second
This hotel was recommended to me as an alternative to a more well known purple coloured chain nearby. I arrived to a friendly welcome and a room swap to accommodate my needs. Thank you! The room was really comfortable, lovely heated bathroom floor, efficient air con and large comfortable bed. I had a delicious steak in the restaurant and all the staff were cheerful, friendly & efficient. Would happily return.
We stayed for one night. Heating in the room didn't work but we were provided with an electric heater with no fuss. Really impressed by the breakfast. Hot and fresh and very tasty indeed. The hotel was quiet and we slept really well. Very few customers
Stayed here for one night last Saturday. Margaret who checked us in was very welcoming and friendly. Hotel is a pleasant enough and quiet in the back rooms... yes they overlook a container yard, but you can't expect scenic views from a roadside hotel. Not sure you'd want more than an overnight stay here. Food in the restaurant was nice and not overly expensive. Didn't have breakfast so cannot comment on this. For us the beds were a little on the soft side, but that's personal choice. All in all a good stay and made all the better because of Margaret! :0)
I stopped here on a business trip has it was close to leeds itself for me to travel into for my meetings on arrival I was approached by a very rude lady on reception who was more interested in be on her phone there was also other staff members congregating around reception chatting about what they've done the night before and again there was all rude and had no customer service skills whatsoever or manners . (Down to poor management and training.) I went to my room and has I went in the room it was very smelly of damp and was very dusty It didn't look very appealing whatsoever there was a lot of dust cup marks and very dirty and the air-con which was dripping on the carpet I reported this to reception and they came and gave me a fan that was all no apologies are any attempt to move me (again poor customer services poor management.) Breakfast well what do I say about this it was cold greasy horrible tasting processed sausages rock hard bacon has clearly been sat there and cooked early morning ready for services this was served by a very rude girl who never checked up on me to see if everything was ok and again most off the continental breakfast items we're not replenished and was very little out on the table .she preferred to stand at the back of the bar again on her phone discussing to other members of staff so please do yourself a favour and save your money as there is a lot nice hotels around the area and avoid at all costs this is a very old dated rundown hotel definitely lost its standards as a best Western plus which I have stopped in a lot of them as I travel around a lot with my work and this is nowhere near has nice has the ones I have stopped it .
Room smelled damp, soon found out why, the air con was dripping and the carpets soaking. Luckily the staff found a fan for us as it was unbearably hot. The Chef rang in sick, so there was no evening meals also there was no gas for breakfast the next morning. We were offered a continental breakfast which consisted of toast or cereal. Rather disappointed with the whole experience, the only saving grace for me is The Staff, they were absolutely wonderful.
Stayed for 4 nights visiting family. Room was very good, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay here again on our next visit to Sherburn.
We found this hotel on the internet after looking up Best Western hotels, as we have a very lovely Best Western near us. These guys are dog friendly so that was a great start too. Very friendly and efficient on the phone. Journey up was ok. We were very surprised to see the hotel was directly on the dual carriageway! We arrived pretty late but the kitchen still cooked for us! Great food! The room was clean and pleasant. However, there were a few maintenance issues that needed addressing - the air con was very noisy, because it needed servicing/ replacing was knocking all through the night, the bottom sheet had a hole in it, no plugs near the bed at all,the TV remote was lacking a back in the battery section and despite being a smart TV, had little functionality, and finally, the front of one if the shower controls was missing. We raised all these things with the lovely Duty Manager the next morning. Interestingly lots of people mentioned air con issues at breakfast! Breakfast was fine, but wasn't listened to again said wanted no beans but another sausage and poached egg instead got beans and fried egg, friendly staff. Sadly the table had not been wiped since we had sat at it the night before as ketchup still stuck on it from dinner the night before!? (We had designated seats as we had a dog with us) all in all average but quite expensive!
The gentleman on the reception staff was very good. There were a few staff members at the bar laughing and joking when we walked in. It was as if we had interrupted their fun and they were disappointed they had to serve us. The bar staff did not listen to the order, my wife ordered a half of lager shandy and she got a pint.
We had a lovely room and an immaculate bathroom. We were only stopping over one night so this was just what we needed - but - and this is a big but - the food was stuck in the 70's. As a vegetarian there as only one choice and all the other options were deep fried. For me, the staff made up for it but if I stayed again I would definitely eat elsewhere.
Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in June 2022 as we were in Leeds to do the emmerdale tour that we had been given as a present. All the staff that we met were very helpful the rooms were very clean and the food was very enjoyable.
My Wife and I elected to stay at the Best Western Plus Milford Hotel in one of their Executive Queen Rooms for 3 nights as we were catching up with local family members and as we were Best Western Reward Customers and our experience of the Hotel Chains Hotels in Canada and the USA was excellent, we thought it made sense. It wasn't the cheapest place to stay but the 'Words & Pictures' of what was on offer persuaded us to book this. When we arrived on the Thursday, at first view, the Room layout looked how we expected it with Sofa seating to one side of the bed a flat screen TV and bath room. Add to this that the Staff were generally all very pleasant and welcoming but alas they were the only two good points. So the bad points about this Hotel and our specific stay :- - The bed was not 'Hotel Comfortable' as you would always normally expect and we both agreed on that point too; should you wake up daily with back ache? - Our room faced the Rear of the Hotel. The view from the rear of the room is a large metal storage container facility, hence we guess the net curtains and heavy drapes. - The TV was a brand called Cello Smart TV and that along with the provided Remote Control was completely hopeless. The remote failed to respond to most operations [I had to go on the internet to try and see how you could work this complex remote] but the response time was poor to non-existent, the picture and sound were often out of sync and it was just generally irritating when you get back to the room and just want to switch on the TV and have to spend ages messing about with it. When I mentioned this to the Receptionist there was ‘no comment' made, just greeted with silence on that subject. - We had ZERO Housekeeping carried out in our room for our entire stay despite us adding the 'Please make up my room' tag to the outer door handle. We complained about this to Reception on the first day it happened and was told that they were [apparently] short staffed so it was 'New Customers Only' [sound like a familiar TV ?]. When we were about to go out for Dinner and opened the room door, we saw a laundry bag scrunched up by our door.; at first we thought it to be somebody's laundry or trash but looked in the bag to find two clean hand towels and some tea, coffee and milk sachets, so in other words a DIY Housekeeping bag. The person who delivered it did not even have the nerve to knock on the door to deliver it. - The next day we walked out of our room to see the Housekeeping trollies in the corridor and we assumed we'd be visited that day but added the requisite 'Please make up my Room' label to the outer door handle but when we returned some hours later, still no Housekeeping visit. I spoke to the Receptionist face to face the following morning to report this and advised that, despite staying in numerous Hotels in the UK and Worldwide, we had never experienced a lack of housekeeping like this. Whilst she told me she was 'sorry about that' she also tried to explain it away by saying it's only really done upon request-seriously? with the requisite label on the door, that is clearly not the case. It was just either Incompetence, Lack of Hotel Hygiene, Cost Cutting or all three - it can't be anything else. - Breakfast - we paid an overall rate which included Breakfast. We are relatively early risers and although never in the first tranche to take breakfast we do not leave it to the last. When we went to the Pastries and Croissants section, it was empty of Croissants and only a few pastries left and it was not replenished by the staff on any day of our visit to the Breakfast Dining Area. You were brought a Cooked Breakfast Menu to your table and asked what you'd like; and instead of the Full Breakfast we selected the lighter Breakfast, expecting to receive Sausage, Egg [Poached as requested], Bacon and a Hash Brown. There was a wait for the Breakfast to arrive [a good sign you'd say as it must be being cooked, as not too many people having Breakfast or waiting a cooked Breakfast] and then it was delivered. The only thing on that plate cooked to order I suspect was the Poached Egg. Despite our order, we received a Poached Egg [as ordered], Rock hard bacon [been sat under a heat lamp I presume], a well done hash brown and a pot of baked beans and Mushrooms and neither of these latter two items were ordered as neither my wife or I like them and of course there was no Sausage. How wrong can you get it. That was for me the only foray into their 'Cooked Breakfast' choices. If you are planning a stay here at least you have a list of some of the things to be aware of. I am a Hotel Reviewer wherever I go and I cannot remember ever having to write a review like this but it was not right on so many levels that it has to be reviewed or the Hotel will never wake up and smell the Coffee but as it is just off the Motorway and for some a halfway point to Scotland maybe they just don't care -who knows. As a point of interest, I regret not staying at the Thorpe Park Spa Hotel which is only a short drive along the A63 Selby Road and a million miles better than the Milford Hotel and about the same money to stay but too late for that on this occasion. What it has done is ensure that I NEVER stay at a Best Western Plus or any Best Western UK Hotel ever again. It is their task to check on and oversee theirs or their franchise partner's hotels. There are plenty of Hotel Chains who seem to do it right effortlessly and Best Western UK clearly do not.
From walking in everything was brilliant we even got two bottles of Prosecco delivered to our room for the Wife's Birthday and a free wine at the evening meal. All staff were attentive and friendly. Shame about the breakfast not very nice.
Stayed one night only visiting my daughter, I have used this hotel before. Booked a queen size double it was very clean and comfortable with aircon, you can't open the windows due to the main road, couldn't hear a thing. The young girl on reception was very helpful and professional running the bar and reception. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice, with Best Western reward we got a free breakfast excellent value for money!
I have to say I was quite disappointed, two members failed to greet me on my arrival and saw me enter and walked off, the waitress at breakfast was disinterested and unwelcoming and the hotel only offered sachets of coffee. The rooms were average, bed has no sockets, shower was power pressure and no iron or ironing board
We stayed here on a trip to Gretna Green. The hotel is clean and tidy, rooms are spacious and well kept. The restaurant bar area was great. The staff were fantastic. A good all round place to stop over for the night. Ideal location if traveling on the A1.
Stayed en-route up north. Room was clean and bed comfortable, staff friendly. Hotel was quite noisy although no noise from the road. Breakfast was a disappointment, very uninspiring selection of fresh produce and they'd run out of coffee beans!
Stopped overnight to break up journey Kent to Scotland Room was spotlessly clean Staff were polite and friendly Evening meal ordinary but didn't notice them clean tables after use Cooked breakfast was not good 5/10 and no pastries replenishment etc
As a regular business traveller hotel accommodation often taken for granted & in a lot of cases hotel location tended to be the deciding factor. However with the quality & efficiency of the Best Western Hotel I can certainly consider when having a choice of hotels I lean towards BW as first choice
Tired looking hotel both externally and internally. GOOD: very comfy bed Very friendly staff BAD: Food atrocious...chicken new yorker and chips...dry, dry overcooked chicken then smothered in a sickly sweet foul-tasting bbq sauce...chips weren't chips, but frozen fries served anaemically pale..... Breakfast awful...stone cold buffet and no eggs... Room had several marks on the walls and one very disturbing liquid style stain!!!!
I was staying overnight on the way up to Scotland and also meeting with friends. I wasn't too sure what to expect to be honest. When I arrived and went to reception it was a friendly greeting and they couldn't have been any more pleasant and welcoming. This was enhanced by the cleanliness of the room. The bed was comfortable and I had a good nights sleep. Went down to the bar and again was given a very nice welcome and even when I asked for a pint of coke and blackcurrant they just did it and the lady behind the bar was going to try it herself. Will definitely use again.
The hotel is extremely well sound insulated. In spite of being near a main road - our room was perfectly quiet. Staff are wonderful. WiFi works well. 24 hour manned front desk is helpful for flexible arrival times. The room is the usual type but perfectly clean and very comfy. There is a restaurant onsite with a standard menu.
Does not warrant being Best Western Plus. Service poor, food quality barely average and not hot. Needs redecorating. Staff need some training. Glad we were only on one night stopover. Would not stay there again.
Came to the hotel on a trip with my wife, visiting family. The hotel was clean and staff was friendly, great customer service from Maria and Jack. The food was great, I had a pleasant experience with my gammon and Chips highly recommended. Overall great experience will definitely be staying here again.
This hotel was ideally situated for my shift the following day. Friendly staff checked me in , room was nice bathroom had been recently refurbished with underfloor heating .the bed was very comfortable. I ate in the restaurant staff were friendly and food was very tasty . The only thing I could fault was that I had an early check out and had ordered a packed lunch on departure but couldn't find anyone on reception so just had to leave my key card on reception.
Cold room as heating not turned on. Poor draft beer. Friendly staff. Bill overcharged but sorted upon request. Food ok. Cafe like restaurant. Not a'Plus' venue. Must be at least. 200 carictures. ………………………… Could do better. More like a premier inn.
I'll start with the positives. Rooms and bathrooms spotless! Staff worked tirelessly to get everyone fed and watered. One staff member in particular was absolutely lovely (Margaret) she worked on reception and served meals. The negatives The worst dining experience in my life!!! The scampi was stone cold when I sated this it was warmed up and brought back to me!!! I've never been so embarrassed in my life. No hand wash in the toilet during a global pandemic I'd expect better. I would definitely recommend the hotel for a overnight stay but do not expect edible food eat before arrival.
Only had breakfast but it was very poor quality and very limited choice. Service was very slow considering how few people were dining at the time. I had the full breakfast and requested no black pudding, it came with black pudding. The poached eggs tasted like pickled eggs as chef had obviously put a lot of vinegar in the water. My wife had continental breakfast and the choice of fruit was an apple. Must do better.
We have just returned from an overnight stay at the hotel as part of a coach party. We really enjoyed our stay, The beds were so comfy, I'd love to know where the mattress and pillows are from! The room was spotlessly clean, nothing was to much trouble. One woman in particular was brilliant, I think she was called Margaret. She couldn't do enough for us and she was so busy, we really appreciated everything. I rated 4 stars because the food let it down which was such a shame. The breakfast especially was disappointing but we didn't complain. The evening meal was ok, steak pie nice but the veg was cold and hard. We were also really surprised that a pint of coke, a pint of lemonade, a wine and a j20 and to £17.50! Seemed like a lot for one alcoholic drink. All in all we would return to the hotel but would probably not eat. Thanks for a lovely stay otherwise.
Excellent manager. Room adequate. Bed linen tired but clean. Food limited but wholesome. Location on Old A1 good for my purpose. Sleep good but had itchy neck from rather 'scratchy' pillow. Some competitors have newer bed linen. Coffee / Tea facilities only provide a small biscuit pack and 2 coffee.
A lovey place, friendly but the food quality is 5/10 on my 3 visits in the last year. Nice & clean . Rooms spacious . Would recommend as plenty of parking and easy access rooms . Good choice behind the bar
Personnel were nice and helpful, although check in was a nightmare as hotel didn't have booking and also the steak for dinner was so tough, it was like chewing on rubber. Breakfast was nice and again staff were pleasant and helpful
We booked a room at this hotel for a Saturday night in September. The booking was made back in July. On arrival, after a very lengthy journey, we were told the hotel had no record of our reservation. This despite the fact I had printed off our written confirmation, from the hotel, and was holding it in my hand. Trainee receptionist disappeared and the manager arrived. He stated that because our booking had been made through the hotel's online reservation agent (Revato) that the problem lay with them and not the hotel. He would not be able to help us as the hotel was completely full and the responsibility for finding alternative accommodation belonged to Revato. There was no apology, nor did it seem that he had any sympathy with our situation and after some time it became clear that we were being left to find our own alternative accommodation and we therefore left. This was not at all easy on a Saturday night in Leeds (with a music festival going on). The manager behaved both disgracefully and irresponsibly. He would most certainly benefit from some Customer Service training. Best Western were also not interested in our experience as they say their hotels are individually owned and managed. Best Western should be ashamed of their attitude and lack of accountability. They would be well advised not to have this hotel as one of their group and it has led us to vow never to book a Best Western hotel again.
Not an inspiring location. Fronts onto Great North Road and backs onto a field of shipping containers. Air conditioning did not work for both nights of stay. Within 30 minutes of arrivel reception advised, promised to have it fixed the following day. It wasn't. Beadroom windows didn't open. Room far too hot. Worst nights sleep ever. TV continually malfunctioning. Restaurant times monopolised by coach party and rest had to slot in round them at less than ideal times. As for food, steak was more gristle than meat. So bad not charged for it. Worst B.W. I've ever stayed in. Not worthy of B.W. branding.
Hotel is a bit in the middle of nowhere with no real views to talk about, had a dinner, bed and breakfast deal, food was good on both occasions and the staff were polite and helpful, although a little inexperienced, the did themselves and the hotel proud. The let down for us was the bed and pillows, the pillows were likened to towels stuffed in pillowcases and the bed sank at the headboard end, we ended up sleeping (eventually for about 3hrs) the opposite way around. Heated floor in bathroom was a good updated touch, nice strong shower over the bath was a plus point too.
Poor value for money. Friendly staff but don't give the impression they know what they are doing. Booked in advance but then the account was settled after each individual night staying there. Breakfast not an enjoyable experience either
On the way back from Kings Lynn we diverted with the intention of eating in Leeds centre and saw this imposing hotel and restaurant. As time was ticking we tried the restaurant and we are glad that we did.We had a 2 course meal at £15.95 per head and found not only was the food delicious and well cooked but there was almost far too much to eat.I rate this the best English type meal I have eaten anywhere in England and will certainly go again and again!! Carina our waitress was most polite, unobtrusive but efficient
Myself and two friends arrange a weekend away on our motor cycles and book three rooms at the Best Western plus Milford near Leeds. On our last night unfortunately one of our bikes was stolen by a couple of skallywags on a moped, we had all three bikes parked in the nearest bay to the front door and linked together with a wire rope, but they used a battery grinder and cut through and took the rear bike. Warning to all bikers be aware there is bike thieves working the area. We found the rooms very good with a very friendly and helpful staff. The menu in the restaurant was very limited and overall not very good. Overall would not stay ever again.
For a small hotel, this hotel ticks most of the boxes for a short stay. Good, clean rooms, good food, warm ambience. We will definitely stay at this hotel again. Margaret on the front desk is excellent.
Window do not open in rooms. Rooms need decorating and a deep clean.Bathroom was fine though. Lounge and restaurant areas need a deep clean and new chairs/ sofas. The whole place was abit Smelly . The best thing about this hotel was the lovely staff who were friendly and helpful! I wouldn't stay again .
This establishment was extremely comfortable and clean. The staff was very helpful and accomodating for me and my partner. Bed was so comfortable and the bathroom was very modern. Would definitely stay here again!
Great couple nights staying over whilst working locally at York & Pontefract races. Fabulous staff who were friendly and efficient and dealt with all enquiries. Ben a great asset for them. Clean quiet room at the back of hotel. Plenty of free parking. Cereal and full English breakfast which set me up for the day. Easy to locate close to the A1/M1/A64. Would recommend
Arrived at about 4.15 on a Monday and went to our Executive Room. Whoops, room not prepared! Back down to reception, profuse apologies, promise of complementary drink and given key to a different room which was fine but no complimentary water, as advertised. Didn't care, had our own! To the bar, pre dinner. New Zealand sauvignon blanc? No. In fact no Sauvignon of any sort. The chardonnay was Spanish and " all right ish" My lager was OK so far I'm winning. My starter mediocre, my wife's fine. Her main very nice, my "10oz Gammon Steak" looked like it started at about 7 oz and was reduced by over cooking to about 5oz! Loads of chips to make up for this. My wife helped with them. Overheard a waitress telling regulars that they were having problems with deliveries. Compass do the catering. Didn't risk breakfast but the upside was all our drinks were complementary! Will probably go again as the hotel is ideally situated for certain trips and the room was very good. Perhaps not on a Monday though.
Stayed last year and decided to stay again mainly due to the food being so delicious. Although the menu was now limited (pie needs putting back on the menu) I ordered cod and chips and it was lovely! The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much. I understand it wasn't too busy but there was often only 1 or 2 members of staff to manage the reception, bar and waitress service so you could find yourself waiting around a while for staff and having to look for them. Our room looked like there was a water mark on the ceiling so could have done with a touch up to make it more presentable. The bed was very comfortable even though it was 2 singles pushed together. I would recommend this hotel mainly for the food and staff.
First visit to this hotel, and during these difficult times, the hotel was clean, and had hand sanitizer everywhere for guests to use. We felt quite safe on that score. The issues that we had , there was not enough staff at all, to run this hotel efficiently!!! We have stayed at many Best Western Hotels in the past, so we are used to how they are run. There was one member of staff who was on reception checking people in, answering telephones, running up to check if guest rooms were ready, running through to the restaurant to serve meals and drinks, filling up the boxes of toiletries etc, the list goes on! There was no chef to cook the breakfast, therefore another girl who was not meant to be in the kitchen was doing that, whilst the reception girl ( again ) was running through to serve drinks and breakfast, whilst doing her reception duties in between. We waited over one hour each morning for our breakfast, which wasn't great. It was cold and had items missing. A group of four people behind us got up and walked out, after complaining about the wait. Some items listed on the menu were not available on both days either. There was no manager on site whatsoever, for the two days we were there. It was not the poor girls fault, they were run ragged with everything that they had to do, and they did their very best under the difficult circumstances. They were doing twelve hours plus shifts, but still managed to smile, and be polite. Overall, the hotel was nice, but the staffing issues were ridiculous on that particular weekend, and for a Best Western Plus Hotel, frankly it is not good enough!!! Special mentions and thanks to Ali, Jordan and another long blonde haired young lady, ( we didn't get her name ) ,who worked so very hard . Regards S Conner.
Me and my partner were very happy with our visit. Comfy rooms with good TV's. Great location for getting in and out of Leeds. Staff were great and very hard working, can't recommend enough. Felt safe and well looked after. Quality value for the price!
Just returned from a 2 night stay. My partner & I have stayed on 2 pervious occasions and it's always been a lovely stay. We booked this visit pre lock down, I was slightly apprehensive to stay as we have yet to visited any where since lockdown was eased. I rang ahead to ask them about what they had in place in terms of safety measures & after answering my million and one questions I felt confident they had everything handle and they really put my mind a ease. When we arrived we knew we made the right decision to come, they had hand sanitizer everywhere you could possibly need it, we knew the hotel was clean from our previous visits but they've stepped it up next level the place was spotless and you could tell they're cleaning all the time to keep us safe. We booked a slightly bigger room this visit & it was well worth it! Huge comfy bed & sofa to relax on which makes a difference when you're staying a couple of days! We ate in the restaurant both nights & couldn't fault in! Salmon on the second night was BRILLIANT would recommend. The staff we came across over our stay were all absolutely fantastic & are the reason we've already booked to come back. All in all our stay was lovely. Faultless.
Where to begin!? This nightmare hotel should not be open. The lead manager was hardly present, there seemed to be two young girls utterly exhausted who were trying to keep the place running. We tried to cancel before staying given the situation with covid-19, the manager Ebony refused but did offer a refund. The response took weeks to get back from her. We took the plunge and turned up late on Friday. The girl greeted is explained that toiletries and teabags etc were to be gathered from boxes in reception. We thought this smacked of pushing liability to guests if they use items. We went to room 47. Screws hanging out of the door lock. TV did not have channels Stains on the ceilings Dirty floor around the bed Poor battered finishes Only one towel that was damp and stained at arrival Subsequent towels fresh but most were stained. View was terrible You car hear people having sex as the walls are so thin Door didn't shut properly Ceiling tiles pushed up and inside roof exposed. Downlights hanging down Breakfast was cheap and vile. Nothing like the £12+ per person price. Number left on reception when unmanned went through to a girl who was in bed! Not even working. Hotel manager was only seem in passing once. The staff said they'd struggled getting maintenance in. Look at the photos to make up your own mind. I should have been offered a full refund. Avoid this room at all costs.
We stayed here for three nights recently ...the hotel is very good but very understaffed...there was usually one member of staff on at a time and they were expected to manage the front desk, the bar and serve in the restaurant at mealtimes. The management need to employ more staff before they wear the existing workers to a frazzle but well done Ebony, Ali and Jordan you all did a wonderful job under very trying circumstances. Thanks
I've stay here a few times. The staff are amazing, but the rooms are old and dated. AC leaks and the shower curtains are a bit rough. Foods ok but was better before Covid 19. The staff are always run off there feet.
Covid-19 restrictions in place but these did not prevent Matt and his small but wonderful team of dedicated staff from making us feel welcome and relaxed under what must be, for them, very difficult circumstances under which to operate. Even Rocky the dog had a happy stay, for which we are extremely grateful as we could not bear to kennel him. Thank you so much for everything you did for us..!
Just called in on the off chance of somewhere to spend the night and ended up with a lovely room which was exceptional value. Food menu a little limited understandably so in these trying times, but still very enjoyable especially the full breakfast. Very Clean, Welcoming and Great service from Matthew, Ali and Jordan , will definitely return.
we've just come home from spending two nights with my family and two dogs. the hotel was lovely, very clean and everything there you may need. we ate in for the two nights we stayed so as we had our dogs were welcome in the lounge area for food and drinks which we were thrilled with. lovely breakfast too. the thing which stood out the most for this hotel were the staff. the staff were wonderful, everyone of them we met were friendly, chatty and nothing was too much trouble for them. they made us all feel so very welcome and we cannot thank them enough. thank you again for a lovely weekend. x
Stayed at many of the BW Hotels and 5his is another good one. Good amount of parking outside. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and well kept and sheets really smelt fresh. Stay in hotel for food as not much local and the food was great and will definitely stay again when next in this area. Well done all the Milford Hotel
If you are looking to have a wonderful eating out experience, then forget this Great Western Plus Hotel. On our first morning no beans for breakfast, Next morning still no beans. I would have thought someone could have called at a local supermarket and got some on the way in! Dinner menu had no steaks on menu, but room service did. In fact, the room service menu had a more extensive choice than the dinner menu. However all the staff were excellent and couldn't be faulted.
We stayed here for one night while heading up to Goathland and had a really nice night. We were greeted by a very helpful and friendly lady who checked us in and also gave us helpful advice on where to visit near Whitby. We had a nice hot meal and was served by another very helpful and friendly lady who looked after us well and was happy to speak to us through out the evening. Our room was perfect and we had a good night sleep followed by a nice hot breakfast in the morning. All in all we had a really nice time here and will be returning again soon when we next head up to The Moors. Thank you to everyone who made our night a memorable one.
Myself and my Girlfriend stayed over here as a stopover on our journey to Edinburgh a all round pleasant hotel we arrived late about half 9ish unsure about food but they managed to get us in the restaurant before it closed the food was excellent and great portioned they even gave us a complimentary pudding even though we declined pudding initially. The room was nice big bed and big tv and a lovely sized bath. Very useful location just off the motorway.
The whole hotel was clean and tidy, and reasonable priced. The restaurant offers good quality food, again at a reasonable price. Clean bedrooms and friendly staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended
Stayed for two nights with our small dog. Staff were very helpful & friendly. Rooms comfortable. Big tv. Breakfast very nice & cooked fresh. Location good for getting around. Would definitely stay here again.
The hotel is isolated and stuck between a motorway and a dual carriage way butis bright and clean inside. We ate in both nights were good portions of nice food. The breakfast was excellent and the Mil;ford breakfast is a great one to start the day.Special mention to staff Amy,Ali,Kerrie and Margret who made ourstay most enjoyable
We called into the Milford Lodge for a drink after completing a walk, we were very muddy and in need of liquid refreshments. There were 8 of us in total along with a dog. Despite us being very muddy we were made to feel very welcome and we were offered seats in the reception area, in addition we were given waitress service which we didn't expect. Drinks were priced as expected in view it's a hotel but not overly expensive. We all agreed that we would definitely return.
Room clean and tidy but shortage of towels we had to request extras. Since our first visit we have noticed that they have cut corners both on room goodies and in the restaurant. The restaurant menu has been cut with fewer choices. There is still no area to walk dogs. During our stay there were several dogs in the hotel unfortunately there is no grass area for visitors to walk them. Staff have come and gone with the newbie staff all friendly and welcoming but still bedding in.
We were very pleased with this last minute booking. Excellent room, recently fitted bathroom. Friendly staff. Our dog Coco was made very welcome and only cost an extra £7.50 for our stay. Two slight negatives, no easy place within walking distance to walk our dog. Also food for evening meal was average, most surprisingly no vegetables offered with meals!! We were able to purchase peas as an extra. Breakfast was extremely good. Overall for a stop off I would highly recommend this hotel
Fantastic works party night, food lovely and hot & good portion sizes too! Service was fast and professional, followed by a great disco. Thank you to all the staff, from the management team, the restaurant team and the chefs. Would definitely return.
This was the allocated hotel from a coach company for the overnight stay. The room was well sized and clean. The bathroom the same. The dreaded health and safety meant that the windows were sealed and so it became very hot. There was air con but we couldn't get it to work and, as it was very late when we tried it, we didn't ask for help which may have remedied it. If there had been a window to open it would have solved it immediately. The evening meal had to be chosen from a very limited menu which did not reflect the restaurant's main menu. Food was hot and served in a fairly timely manner. Breakfast let the place down. Obviously, with a coach party in, with a set departure time, there was going to be an influx of diners. The food, for self service, was laid out on two tables, set at an angle to each other in a V shape. This meant that no more than two people could get to the food and a massive queue resulted. There was no place to put the lids to the food containers and so they further littered the already limited space. The bacon appeared to have been boiled; it was pale pink and covered in salt deposits. The scrambled eggs were solid and looked as though the quantity for all guests had been made at the start of service to avoid replenishment. The fresh mushrooms and tomato were all delicious. The toasters were situated adjacent to the hot food and caused more overcrowding. The bread for toast was frozen solid - with breakfast guests a given, this was just a ridiculous mistake. There were tongs but they were useless on the frozen blocks of sliced white bread. Some guests tried to rip slices off and the result was messy, not to mention unsanitary. As we queued, other guests revisited the toasters to review the iced bread situation. This caused further chaos and crowding. Coffee and tea was delivered by a member of staff but we couldn't find her later for a refill. The restaurant is plenty big enough to have food laid out in a more sensible and ergonomic way. With 50 guests for breakfast guaranteed, better pre planning could have made such a difference. Overall, given that we were on an coach trip, the value was very good. Someone needs an overview and a rethink could provide the tweaks needed to raise the whole experience massively.
Room excellent buffet appalling bought in frozen cheap rubbish that cost us 15 quid per head. Breakfast chaotic with too many customers and not enough staff. Manager was apologetic but that helps nobody . Wont be going back
On our annual visit to this hotel which we have used now on several occasions we were disappointed as the high standards the hotel has always set were on this occasion well below standard only in regards to the cleanliness of the room. We highlighted the various issues to Margaret who was very helpful and offered to clean the room but as we were only staying one night felt it was not worth all the extra trouble, but wanted to highlight our concerns to the management team so other guests would not have the same experience. Otherwise the restaurant as always was excellent with great service quality food and superb breakfast choices.
Three of us travelled from Northern Ireland to stay the night before a football match. Arriving after a long drive the first asked for Jamison's Whiskey only measure was available. I then asked for Bacardi again only one measure available. Lucky the other drunk lager they had enough to keep him happy. We had to go for a carryout as no more available behind the bar. Food was average and breakfast same. Not sure I will stay again.
Business trip. I have used a few local hotels to Garforth. I'm not a fussy traveller but do want value. I've not found it in 6 months until I drove past this one day. I'll give it a go I thought. Turns out to be a really good option
First time at this hotel. What a treasure, room was spotless, well decorated and the bed was super comfy. Easy check in staff are so helpful and friendly. I travel up here every couple of months and this is my new go to Hotel.so looking forward to coming again. 10 out of 10.
The room was fresh and clean with a well stocked tea tray. The bathroom was spacious and had underfloor heating. We had dinner and the portions were large which left us full to the brim! Then we had a couple of drinks and off to bed the bed was very comfy and was King Size. Friday was the day when the members of our party all arrived and booked in. Everyone was happy with the rooms and any complaints were dealt with in a cheerful amd timely manner much to the satisfaction of everyone attending the weekend reunion. Dinner was again a very well cooked as was breakfast with a choice of large or smaller portions and continental or lighter options Chef did us proud! Saturday's Gala Dinner was a success and I would like to thank ALL the catering and serving staff for making our special evening enjoyable. Sunday was much the same as Friday with regard to the catering but was more of a Sunday carvery type evening meal. One of our members had a medical emergency and we had to call the Ambulance on two occasions we were lucky to have first aiders present and a Registered Nurse staying in the hotel on the second occasion.. On the Housekeeping side, thanks must go to the head housekeeper and who did not give her name but Lauren was exeptionally cheerful and helpful during the weekend. The Receptionist Kelly who came in in her day off to say goodbye when we departed on Monday. Thanks in equal amounts to all who looked after us on our Reunion from Reception,Housekeeping & Chefs
Very nice, relaxing. Very clean, not hard to find but also in the middle of nowhere !! Brilliant prices. Been twice in two weeks, will be back again soon! The staff are very pleasant as well. Bathrooms very nice too
After wanting to stay at this hotel for a good few years (10+) but never really needing to as family close by, we finally had a opportunity to do so. Unfortunately we would probably not stay again. Booking in easy and receptionist very helpful, even bringing to the room a fan (I requested) within minutes. Once in the room we found that house keeping could be much better .......... although I must add the room was not dirty, more dusty with quite a few cob webs hanging about. Bathroom floor had missed the mob behind the door, and a rather large and very black damp patch in the corner of the bedroom. Towels, although clean, very worn and a very “off white” colour. Beds comfy, pillow dreadful and lumpy! Not a horrendous stay but could of been better. Did not eat at the hotel.
Booked up on a coach party to the Harrogate Flower show. On arrival I was not impressed ! On a busy road with a caravan storage facility behind, in the middle of nowhere. However it turned out to be an excellent choice ! The rooms were very well appointed, clean and quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was hot, delicious and well presented. All round, an enjoyable stay,. The busy road turned out to be very entertaining at night, as it was the local " drag" strip with" boy racers", performing their stunts at great speed into the sunset.
Stayed with my Daughter and 4 year old Grandson. We stayed in a Executive room which was very well appointed, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Special mention to the waitress in the restaurant who made such a fuss of my Grandson, she was a natural with children. Thank you for a great stay.
We stopped here on a trip to Northumberland, although convenient for the A1 we chose the hotel because it was dog friendly. We have a 6 month old puppy, there was not a single blade of grass for her, my husband had to walk with her on the verge with huge lorries, so not good for dogs. Fortunately there was air conditioning but not nice having sealed windows. Because of the dog we were offered breakfast in the entrance lounge, which would have been fine except we were given a bit of cereal and hardly cooked toast. When I went into the dining room there was continental breakfast with ham, cheese, croissants and orange juice. Why on earth couldn't we have had that.
We stayed in two different rooms a week apart for 6 nights total. Exterior of hotel and the lobby seemed clean and inviting. First stay was on a first floor room. Had requested 2nd (top) floor, but even though we got there earlyish (around 3:30) we were told no top floor rooms with 2 queen beds (as we reserved) were available. First thing to hit us when we walked into room was a REALLY unpleasant smell, kinda moldy, kinda dirty feety, kinda wet doggy. We figured it might dissipate with some A/C and opening a window, which you can do, but only about 4 inches. It was slightly better the next day, but not much. We didn't notice it after a while except when we'd first walk in. Outside of smell, room looked clean. Room was very quiet despite being on first floor and hotel being busy. A/C worked great, but it is a wall unit type just below the window, so the drapes block the cold air from circulating in room if they are closed. Really crappy design there, as of course you need the drapes closed at night to make the room somewhat dark. Lack of good seals on door to room make it impossible to make room totally dark for sleep. Fridge in room was an appreciated amenity. Flat screen TV worked perfectly. Bathroom was OK. Granite vanity counter was upscale, but steel enameled bathtub was old and had "repaired" chips in it that looked pretty ugly. Rainshower style head. Good water pressure, plenty hot. Towels ok size, wash cloths provided. Toiletries seemed nice enough. Beds and pillows were extremely comfortable, not too hard or soft. Linens seemed clean, fresh and spot free. Our second stay we were on 2nd floor. Room was far better smelling, but still had a definite bad odor. Room was otherwise exactly as first one. We had a problem our final night with someone in the next room playing TV at 4 in the morning. It was most noticeable when close to the double doors that separated our room from his, which was by the bathroom. It wasn't as noticeable from the beds. I would say do not get a room that has adjoining doors if you want to minimize risk of noise. I do not know if that is possible in this hotel. Breakfast was included. A variety of hot foods including scrambled eggs, sausages and hash browns, waffle maker. All of this was adequate, not super delicious. They did have some very high quality individually packaged yogurts available, which was a definite step up from most budget hotel breakfasts. The gal maintaining the breakfast area was really pleasant and this definitely made our stay better. If this place didn't allow animals (one reviewer says they do), scrubbed their carpeting once in a while, and put volume limiters on their TVs, it would be a very good place.
Stayed for one night during a business trip. Rooms are to be expected. Staff very friendly. We ate at the on site restaurant- nice food but quite long wait for mains when the restaurant was empty. They had also run out of steak?!? But hey ho. Had a room facing the dual carriage way however couldn't hear anything from outside all night which was good.
Got to admit this is the 2nd time we have visited the hotel and the place gets better every time. The food is fantastic the staff are great. The room on this occasion did not have working air con but the staff gave us fans to keep us cool so that helped a lot as the windows do not open but other than that the stay was wonderful and my husband and I got some well deserved time together for his birthday so definitely can not fault the hotel at all
Probably an ok hotel for Businessmen - but not so for Leisure. Lots of dogs in hotel, not a problem, but no garden or outside space other than the car park next to a very busy road for them. Air con not working properly during our stay - notice on reception informing guests. Not good as you cannot open a window. Breakfast a bit hit and miss - generally a miss, with items either not available or not replenished - staff at breakfast seemed more interested in setting up for dinner than welcoming guests. However, the cooked items were good. Room clean, lovely pillows, happy, chatty cleaning staff, TV hit and miss. Reception staff helpful and friendly. Just breakfast a big let down as unwelcoming. Probably would not come back.
Just had a two night stay at this lovely hotel, room was spotlessly clean and plenty of space. Staff were very friendly and efficient, they made us feel very welcome, couldn't do enough!! Unfortunately for us we were travelling on the hottest day of the year with two Newfoundland dogs, but they came up trumps with a fan for our room. The food was lovely and not over priced. We will definitely be back when we are next in the area!!
Booked this hotel as we were attending a wedding a few miles away. We arrived early and our room was ready. Room perfect for price. Well cleans. Nice big bed with good pillows. All staff were friendly .
Good stopover returning from Scotland on a Shearings coach holiday. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful although very much under pressure from a coach party of 40 people to feed evening meal Service very slow but food was worth the wait.
We had booked into this hotel on recommendation of friends who we were visiting for a party. We arrived a couple of hrs before actual check-in time and were given a couple of drinks vouchers for our wait and inconvenience!!! Excellent customer service as it was us that were early. All staff, from bar staff, waiting, front desk and cleaning staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was obviously cooked fresh due to the amount of time we waited for it and it was very good. A great experience and will definitely stay again when visiting our friends.
Spent one night here on business this week. Good and clean room. Friendly staff on reception. Decent meal and service from staff in the resturant - Salmon with new potatoes was very good. Check out was quick. Good value for money.
Hotel conveniently located just off the A1 so suited us fine as broke up journey to Norfolk coast. Lovely receptionist, Margaret, got us checked in quickly and even offered to assist with our bags. Lovely room (18) to the rear of the hotel so absolutely no road noise not that the road in front of the hotel is that busy. Room I think have been recently renovated with loads of space including a sofa and plenty of wardrobe space. Bathroom clean with all the usual amenities with only draw back being a lack of water pressure for the shower. Great nights sleep and plentiful breakfast in the morning before pushing on with our journey.
Enroute to Suffolk, this hotel was an overnight stop-off. Really clean, friendly staff but above all an absolutely outstanding restaurant. I reckon this is the reason it gets the 'plus' rating by the Best Western brand. Highly recommend.
We stayed with a group en route to the Lake District. The check in process was exceptional and so efficient thanks to the lovely receptionist Margaret. Everything went very smoothly. The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms seem newly refurbished. Dinner was good but the hotel struggled rather with the large group - they also had other diners so had to look after them too. Breakfast was a buffet style and also all freshly cooked. The hotel is very close to the Motorway but far enough away to be quiet. Would definitely recommend as a good stop over.
Had a last minute business trip in Leeds last week and was very satisfied with the whole stay. Just like last time - efficient check in (even though I came in around 6-7pm with a few other colleagues), good night sleep, fast breakfast service - everything was done very smoothly and am very happy with the stay. Will recommend to anyone who's passing by the area for a business trip.
This hotel is in an excellent location with ample parking with easy access . Excellent value for money and very nice spacious room . Hot shower and felt a little spoilt when I found out the bathroom hat underfloor heating. Comfortable bed and nice and peaceful.
The room was spacious with chairs and table . Bathroom was modern and looked new.The hotel is close to Micklefield metro station, but to far to walk . Journey takes 11 minutes to Leeds Return for 5.60
Look I'm not going to put it down because fundamentally there is not a lot wrong with it but it lacks something. The location is not great. The bar is ok but lifeless. Breakfast is average Parking is good. Don't disregard it, accept it if nothing else is available
Room was decent, quiet and clean. staff was very friendly and helpful. parking was not an issue (It was a Monday night... so I was not expecting the car park to be busy). Exactly what I needed for my stay! Can't comment on food as I did not eat there.
Unfortunately an urgent situation came up and I had to seek out a room in the early morning hours. After calling around many places (most of whom didnt answer), I finally got ahold of Ebony at Best Western. She was so kind and patient and accommodating. She offered me a room and I was so thankful for it! The following breakfast was great, the staff there are all so friendly. I highly recommend this Best Western!
Highly recommend this great hotel. Every member of staff was extremely friendly and so helpful. When I rang to book a dog-friendly room they kindly upgraded another couple so they could provide us with a room. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable and the black-out curtains ensured a great nights sleep. The breakfast was super-tasty too! Will definitely visit again. Thank you to all of the hard-working staff.
Ali not only has made my stay welcoming but she has made my stay here easy and enjoyable. Not only does she work within her work perimeters but goes above and beyond to make the customer feel at home.
Room ok staff not particularly helpful. On arrival I was told if I wanted to book a table in the restaurant it wouldn't be for at least 2 hours. As the hotel is in the middle of nowhere there wasn't anywhere else I could eat. Went to the bar to be told they had run out of all draught lager. Many people were unhappy regarding this. Just went to my room without eating. Very poor
Hotel found to be very friendly and welcoming. Bar staff found to go above and beyond on my night of visit zoe and katie were working. I would definitely visit again. Food found to be of a good standard and rooms are acceptable.
We were made to feel really welcome from the start of our visit, my friend's button had come off, the next morning the receptionist had brought in needle and thread. The bathrooms are lovely and the rooms spacious and clean, we stayed in the Queen executive room over looking the road, it was not possible to hear the passing traffic, it was a short distance from the A1M and easy to access Leeds, York etc, Would definitely feel confident in staying here again. The set menu changes daily, and there's a good variety at breakfast, enjoyed the natural smoked haddock and poached egg, while my friend had scrambled egg with smoked salmon, we also tried the full Yorkshire breakfast.
We had to stay in the area due to a family event. We were very pleased with our stay since it ticked all the boxes: 1) Clean room 2) Quiet room 3) Friendly staff 4) Good coffee 5) good free parking 6) free wifi without annoying nagging messages!! There is not much more to say since we were only there for around 11 hours. My wife enjoyed the breakfast. I enjoyed the coffee. Thanks, everyone.
i booked this hotel 24 hours before arrival, i arrived at 8pm after a 4 hour drive only to be told there was no room available. i booked though Expedia and my reservation was confirmed by email and text. i had booked an Executive Room. As a lone female traveller you can imagine my horror of potentially having no bed for the night on questioning the staff member at check in i could see my name on his computer screen, he tried to blame Expedia, he was not very apologetic, he then proceeded to ring round other local hotels to get me a room, not my choice as the customer! As a seasoned traveller, my opinion is they had resold the room i had booked at a higher price! i would be very careful booking this hotel. on another note i got a room at the South Milford Hotel, go there, room was fine, staff and food lovely!....i am very lucky they had availibility or i would have had to have slept in my car
I knew this would be a good stay from the first check in. The staff was all friendly and kind helpful and cheerful. Just goes a long way I think :) the room was spacious and clean bath / shower combo was nice and food was good and good value
This was a last minute decision booked online for an executive room Unfortunately my partner is disabled and the hotel has no disabled access to the upper floor. The website doesn't include this information. And it was paid for on the "no ammendments no cancellations". Despite this the hotel changed the room and refunded the difference. This might not happen in every case though so bear in mind that if any member of your party has difficulty with stairs DO NOT book the executive rooms. If the website designer had been as good as the hotel it would never have happened but they were brilliant at resolving the issue.
Ok hotel for what it is, rooms ok, staff good, food usually good but bar poor. Used to have a guest draught ale but new management decided to get rid of it. Now no choice of decent beer, unless you like Theakstons. Sometimes they have more than one Larger available, but not this week.
Lovely room very quiet considering the hotel is on a very busy road. The meal and breakfast were very nice too if a little quiet in the restaurant. We have stayed here a few times previously and if we are staying in the area always look to see if available
My husband and I have just had a wonderful 2 night stay . The staff were friendly helpful and very welcoming. We visited the hotel with our retired guide dog to visit my elderly mum . Will definitely be coming back . Breakfast was amazing and the rooms were very spacious. Beds are very comfy and had a wonderful nights sleep .
Good food, great service from the friendly staff and nice free pontefract cakes. Ideal for our 'midway' meet up. Dog friendly including one lounge area and nice walks at the nearby Fishburn Ings. Well done! Recommended.
Myself and my husband had booked this hotel for a weekend as we were visiting a very ill friend in the area. We chose this hotel as it was near his residence and also not too far from the ariport. However, a few days before our arrival sadly our dear friend had passed, but we still chose to stay here at the Best Western to meet up with family and friends of our dear departed friend. The staff were absolutley amazing, as we tried to organise a number of rooms for next week after we attend the cremation service, needless to say people in our group were a little upset and anxious, trying to book many rooms and deal with the overall issue we had to face, we also tried to book some small area for after the service with sandwiches etc for the guests who were attending. On arrival Stefan was on reception, he was absolutley amazing and very sympathetic and sincere with us and our situation. He ensured our room was ready, even though it was much earlier than check in time. He helped us calmly in assisting us with booking our rooms for the other party members for next week, and made us feel so at ease. He then contacted his colleague who assisted us with the room for next week in where we could have a small get together in memory of our dear friend. During the afternoon and following morning, David in the Bar & restaurant was delightful and also very sympathetic to our needs. The following day I went to reception and spoke to Ebony requiring if possible we could have a late departure the next day, as our flight to Ireland was in the evening, she did so with such professionalism and it made us less anxious the next day knowing we did not have to hurry out of the hotel at the usual time of 11am. All the staff overall, were extemely helpful and looked after our bookings for next week. (Sorry I cannot remember the girl's name who looked after the room hire & sandwiches for us for next week, but she was very helpful also). The staff are a credit to the hotel and provide a wonderful service. We also had breakfast on the two days and one evening meal, which we could not fault. I will be back next week for the sad occassion, but I must add that I would not like to stay anywhere else, as the team here are wonderful. Thank you all.
We came on Valentine's day for 3 nights hotel was beautiful staff are lovely and accommodating. Our room was perfect everything you need!. The breakfast was fantasic lots to chose from for continental then the cooked breakfast was also cooked lovely. We got room service and the food was cooked to perfection. No faults at all would highly recommend the best western and will stay again.
Following a distressing incident I arrived at this hotel, and I could not have received kinder or more helpful treatment. I enjoyed prompt service with everything from room service (which was excellent) to support with accessing the WiFi. Worth mentioning that the breakfasts were amazing!
‘Find me a restaurant within a hotel that can accomodate a group of 25 have a bespoke set meal in beautiful informal surrounding and provide good accommodation for those wanting to stay over. Oh yes and a good bar. ‘ So I did. This hotel delivered 100 percent. From Fiona who sorted everything out to chef who cooked up a wonderful meal to Becky the restaurant manager who finalised the requirements and-looked after us all evening along with her team. Margaret on reception sorted all our rooms. Thank you all. Tez loved it. We all did.
Chose this hotel because of its dog friendly status but will be returning because of the people and the service. Really great stay. Obviously could not use the restraunt with the dog but could sit in the comfortable, adjacent lounge and eat there. Food was really good. The staff could not have accommodated me and my dog any better. George (dog) was spoilt rotten. Rooms were really well appointed and great value.
Wow......what a fantastic team! We celebrated my parents 60th anniversary here and we wanted it to be perfect.....every single member of staff ensured that it was exactly that...they could not have made the occasion any more special. A huge thank you to all of you. The rooms were fabulous, the food was Devine and the service outstanding. A special thank you to the GM for his very gracious gesture to my parents.....it was very special and I know my parents were very touched. Excellent work guys, I wish you all continued success.
My husband and I decided on a spontaneous little getaway and decided to stay here. It's close to where we live but far enough enough away to relax and take some time out. We arrived at the hotel after 7pm and we're greeted by a friendly young lad at reception. The room was stunning very big and clean and the bathroom was immaculate. It came as as shock though as when we went to use the bathroom we hadn't realiszed there were speakers in there to listing to the TV so that was an experience lol the food in the restaurant was really nice not badly priced either my husband had the milford chicken and I had the fish and chips and couldn't finish it as there was a lot to eat ha ha my husband thoroughly enjoyed his tea. The bed was nice and comfy a day we both slept amazingly and then the breakfast in the morning was absolutely smashing. We generally don't eat breakfast but this was nice. The next evening we were there we decided to try the room service and it was great. It took about 20 minutes from ordering to get it to the room. We had the burger and the gnocchi and they were delicious. I would definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone wanting great food at a great price.
If there was an option to review the hotel as "good" I would have opted for that. I have always liked the hotel, the Queen Exec rooms are really nice, well equipped, spacious, etc, but they are in danger of losing my custom. But, staff are generally really nice, and very helpful. I have stayed at this hotel a number of times over recent years, during which things have changed quite a lot, and generally not for the better. The change in ownership seemed to be when things began to change. I was disappointed to find on arrival that there are still problems with the airconditioning/heating in some rooms a year after I first experienced them. Also, it felt as though there was some reducton in things like the quality of toiletries, only one bottle of water (instead of two) in the fridge, less than fluffy towels, etc. Cost cutting maybe? The saving grace are the staff who are really helpful and I can't praise them enough in the circumstances.
We have stayed at the hotel 4 times since 2015; and have sadly witnessed falling standards of cleanliness, food and now customer service. After a late night out we arrived back at the hotel around 2am to be confronted by doors which where locked. As the reception is 24/7 we hit the buzzer and waited for a response.. and waited....and waited. In fact 45 minutes passed in the ice cold rain before a young man (Jamie) finally opened the door. We were offered no apology he simply looked at us and said watch out I've just mopped the floor. My husband was irate and questioned the porter as to why he didn't open the door sooner, he shrugged his shoulders and said I accidentally dozed off. Great to know are safteys in the hands of this young guy!!! I dIdnt realise arriving late was now frowned upon because in our previous stays other night porters have let us straight in without hesitation. We will not be using the Milford again.
Four of us stayed for the new year festivities. Had a fantastic time. Food good beds comfy and staff very friendly and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. We could even bring our dog into our room! Thankyou Milford Hotel.
It is with some disappointment that I have to write this review as the Milford has been very good some time ago but now standards have dropped further. The bed in room 6 is fit for the skip. We tried to get a good nights sleep by even turning the mattresses without success as the the base is shot. Pillows are again fit for the bin. The bedroom air flow system seemed to fail and showed some error codes with the system unable to heat and fan cutting in and out. The restaurant evening meal was basic which is sad as they once had a quality menu. The current prices are extortionate (captured audience) at near £16 for a basic chicken breast main course that should be priced at near £9.00 (the GP % must be through the roof). The Haddock and chips at near £14 would have been worth the price if the chips had been as described (homemade) which must have been made by their Scottish chef called McCaine. The restaurant walls had splashes of grease. A cheap quality 175ml glass of wine costs £5.50. The only redeeming features of this hotel are a) the staff who try, b)location to A1, c) Breakfast. We were asked at checkout if everything was ok and our response was "fine" as we had a further 180 + miles to travel which we regret.
We went as a family (9 of us altogether). The layout and decor is lovely and it looked very festive. The service was good and the food was really beautiful. We have eaten out on Christmas day in the past so we we weren't expecting much but everything was fresh, hot and very tasty. We were not rushed at all and were there approximately 3 hours having a lovely relaxed Christmas lunch. We would definitely go again!
Last week I was in the UK for a business trip when I stayed at this hotel for two nights. I really could've not made a better choice. The staff were pleasant, who greets you once you step into the lobby with a cheerful smile. Breakfast was perfectly prepared and over lunch I had a business meeting with my client at the restaurant and we were very happy with the service and the food quality. He even mentioned he should even come here from downtown Leeds once in a while for dinner! Slight miscommunication over my mini bar consumption but nothing major and the issue was solved during check out. This did not mar my experience and actually I'm glad this happened because I witnessed myself how the receptionist was very quick in solving the issue. Will stay again.
We stayed at the Best Western Plus Hotel for two nights after driving up from Cornwall we found the hotel had not been informed of our stay because the booking company we use AMOMA (Do Not use them) did not email or tell them our dates, for our stay. The hotel personnel were very good, understanding. They sorted out the problem after the manager went the extra mile to find out who this company were? The stay was very pleasant and the room was very clean and comfortable, Breakfast was nice, . I would stay there again after the help they gave us.
Spent a night here, with a friend, in late October. A cozy, contemporary room, spotlessly clean, awaited our arrival. The staff here could not have been more helpful. Phil, on Reception when we arrived, looked up the local parkrun for us (Temple Newsam), and advised us what time to leave the following morning in order to get there in time for the run Start. We were a little late back for breakfast on Saturday. No problem! The staff welcomed us, even apologising for having turned off the toaster! We enjoyed a tasty breakfast. Back in our room, still cold and damp after the run, a wonderful soak in the bath helped to warm us up. A late checkout and a cream tea at 1pm. We were reluctant to leave. Super little hotel. Super staff. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would highly recommend. Thank you, Best Western, Leeds
My friend and I stayed here for one night on a travel zoo deal. As well as being an absolute bargain it was also delightful. Our room was clean warm and very comfortable. the bath was huge and the water hot listening to the radio through speakers whilst wallowing in the bath was a treat. the staff were great, Phil the receptionist helped us with directions to the nearest parkrun at Temple News on and the breakfast staff let us sneak in after the end of service when we got back from a wet and cold run. We finished our stay with an enormous cream tea, as a baker myself I am fussy about scones but these definitely passed the test.
Stayed here on a business trip, recommended by one of my colleagues who lives locally. Well i was please with his recommendation, the staff were warm and welcoming. The room was very clean and well presented. The bathroom was modern and bright with underfloor heating! The TV in the room was a little dated, but it worked ok. The watermill restaurant which is part of the Best Western hotel, was also well presented with a small bar area. As I was late arriving at the hotel I only chose a main meal. although it was very nice meal, i thought it was a little expensive for what i had, however very enjoyable. Overall, I would look forward to a stay there again.
Travelling with Shearings stayed here for one night on the way to Scotland. Room was clean and comfortable and the food was very good, evening meal was waiter service with a selection of three choices for each course, the buffet style breakfast offered a good selection. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend.
Stayed for a Saturday and Sunday, a bit disappointed that our room wasn't like the pictures with settees etc, just 2 uncomfortable chairs. Breakfast was very good but didn't use the restaurant again as it was always nearly empty. Had coffees with friends in there and only one table occupied at 1.30 on Sunday.
Great value room - spacious, comfortable, quiet and clean. Breakfast however is expensive (£11 continental; £13 cooked). Hotel is in a remote location, near a busy road but silent due to triple glazing!
This was an overnight stopover on our way to Scotland with Shearings holidays. A Very comfortable room and a lovely bar / lounge area. The food was of a very good standard although would have liked more of a choice at breakfast.
We stayed here for a three night city break after 8 days trekking on the Pennine Way, which although really enjoyable was quite tough. To be fair, my wife had earned her birthday rest with retail therapy in Leeds and York and a visit to the historic house of Harewood nearby. She loved it, I liked the tea and cake shops! The hotel was great value, very comfortable and just what we required. The hotel is ideally situated so that I didn't have to drive into the cities to visit both Leeds and York. There is a train station about a mile away with handy trains into both Leeds and York. There are also two lovely village pubs not far away (within 10 minutes drive), we had an excellent evening meal at the Cross Keys at Hillam and then two excellent evening meals at the Crown Inn at Monk Fryston. My wife enjoyed it so much she has agreed to walk the rest of the Pennine Way next year, with a similar trade off arrangement, I'll have a look where else Best Western are situated!
This could have been a pleasant nights stop however a coachparty stretched their restaurant service to the limit. The room was good, clean and well sized. The staff obliging. Heated floor in bathroom. Unable to have an evening meal at a sensble time. The coach party staying at the hotel supposed to be in for their meal at 7pm but they ran late. Compounded by the hotel down the road havng a function on and sendng guests up the road to this hotel for an evenng meal. Result, the staff could not cope with the number of guests tryng to get an evening meal. Why accept guests from another hotel when you can not provide meals for your own guests? The dining room is too small to cope. We ended up with room service for a meal since there were no tables available. Pleasant meal and friendly staff. However can not recommend this hotel if they have a coachparty stayng. Breakfast was also crazy, that is until the coachparty had finished their breakfast.
Calm, spotlessly clean, quiet, comfortable, friendly staff; a real haven. We had a lounge and DVD player in our room. Bathrobes provided. Aircon efficient and bathroom lovely. Check in and out we're really easy and the common areas were nicely kept. As well as having a bar and restaurant there was also room service. Would definitely stay again.
Surprisingly quiet considering the location. We heard no road noise whatsoever. The food was fantastic and the bed was incredibly comfy. We booked 10 min before arrival and were very pleasantly surprised with what we got. Great value for money and a great night sleep!
Booked due to location, which is very good, just off the A1M and to be honest I didn't have high expectations, really just a bed for the night between meetings. However I was pleasantly surprised. A very efficient and friendly check-in. Room was clean and access to wi-fi to catch up on work emails after a day in the road was quick and hassle free. Came down for dinner and ordered a drink while I perused the menu. I was impressed when the waitress remembered my name when I asked to be seated and the Smoked Haddock Rissoto was delicious. Friendly and efficient from start to finish.
I do not usually write reviews but I strongly believe this experience deserves a great review. I was traveling from London to Leeds for a business trip when I passed by the hotel for a quick lunch. I was pleasantly surprised with the level of service and attention to detail during the lunch service. I'm allergic to nuts (not severely, luckily) but what I really appreciate was that I was reassured on every course served that the newly served dish does not contain any traces of nuts. The restaurant was bustling with many other guests but the lunch service remained fast. Will definitely come back if I pass by Leeds again in the future.
18 family members celebrating birthday afternoon tea.. The waitress was a stranger to a smile !! She lacked customer service interaction, was not attentive to the needs of our party & I'm still waiting for my glass of tap water !!!! I asked her for a latte, extra hot & returned a few minutes later adding a capachino to the order.. She had already heated the latte milk & I'm sure I heard a 'tut' when adding further milk to the container. I questioned the heat of the milk for the latte & she said she'd heated it twice already.. it doesn't require a science degree to understand that by adding cold milk to warm/hot milk you, in fact reduce the temp of the milk !!! There was no attempt to interact with me whilst she was making these coffees. I thought she must be new & that explained her lack of confidence in her skills but apparently not... when asked she replied she's "been working here a long time" Really!!!?? In a further attempt to strike up a conversation with her, I noticed the dinner/evening menus. I noticed the absence of a vegetarian option & stated so.. her reply was "there is". I looked again & replied "no, can't see one" "it's the risotto" came her reply.. The risotto is haddock based & therefore pesketarian not vegetarian.. Don't think she took that impart of knowledge very well.. She's in the hospitality industry, she needs to revisit her job description... And finally what type of chef mixes vegetarian & carivour sandwiches together & lacks imagination..(cream cheese & tomato... really... !!) making them unavailable to the vegetarians at the tea...
Checkin was perfectly smooth which is what you need after a 6 hour journey. The gentleman was professional and friendly with obvious pride in his job. Rooms are spotless and I mean spotless. Not a fibre, hair, spec of dust or water mark on anything. Very impressed. Bathroom just shone with perfection. We ate in the restaurant even though the staff were very happy to help us find a choice outside the hotel. The food was lovely. We were a table of 6 with a child. Staff were happy to bring sausages and chips even though they did not have a child menu. Food was very good. The burgers were amazing. Cooked to perfection. Service was a bit slow and the staff looked a bit harassed at times which i put down to there not being enough of them to cover both bar and dinner service. They were lovely. Special mention to Ebony who for her age was knowledgeable and so lovely. A true hotelier in the making. Breakfast is not cheap at £12.95 but the ingredients are quality ingredients. Bacon was thick cut and not your bog standard supermarket variety and also the sausages were proper top quality butcher ones. My partner opted for a bacon sandwich which came in a brioche bun and 3 thick slices. We were still charged £12.95 for it, which was the most expensive sandwich ever but i didnt try to query the amount So for all I know they would have charged us accordingly. Over all it was a good 1 night stay. Good location for what we needed.
Stayed before. Stopped for one night whilst traveling on a staycation in the North. Room could not be faulted, although I wish at least one window could be opened. Dinner was nice and fairly priced. Breakfast fine. Staff helpful. Would certainly stay again. Good location on the A63 (old section of A1)
This is a reasonably priced and comfortable hotel. The rooms are well laid out, two chairs, a large bed, desk, coffee table and bedside tables. The bathroom has a great shower bath combo which works well. It looks as though the rooms have been refurbished especially the bathrooms. The restaurant offers a reasonable selection for dinner. Breakfast is buffet style for continental and you order your hot food combo. This means the hot food is actually hot. The best asset for this hotel is their lovely staff. Very friendly and accommodating. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. There are park and rides nearby if you wish to head into York or Leeds.
we stayed here over the weekend and we were very impressed with the hotel especially the fact that we had feather pillows as we dont get them in any othe hotel, the room was spotless, well equiped and the bed was so comfortable that we both had an excellent nights sleep which for my husband is very rare, will definately stay here again next year, highly recommended.
We would like to apologise to the hotel for our previous review. when marking our overall rating of the property I marked it as poor instead of excellent by mistake. I know most people will understand this was an error after reading my full report of the hotel. Many apologies again for the error
We arrived at 11am and our room was ready, check in is usually 3pm. We had also been upgraded to an executive suite which was excellent. Comfy bed, lovely bathroom, internet facilities. Even an ironing board and iron, teamaking facilities. Staff were lovely, very helpful. We will be going again soon.
Having a pet only gives us access to the ground floor rooms. These rooms are clean but basic only having bed and two arm chairs and coffee table plus the normal fitted shelving and units. We have been going to this hotel now for over 3 years during which it has changed hands. Going from being privately owned to now being owned by a company which I believe have their main offices away from the UK. The restaurant food is still good but the variety of choice has now been condensed. They now have theme nights like "fish n chip Fridays" or "Curry nights". These bring in the non-residential customers who then mix with those staying at the hotel. The staff group has also changed with only a few of the old regime most of the staff being new replacements.
Stayed one night and staff were great. Couldn't help more if they tried. However, the hotel had too many issues for a good review. Biggest one is breakfast. Paid £12.95 for 2 eggs 1 mushroom 1/4 tomato & 1/2 slice black pudding. When I complained was told this is what they serve! SERIOUSLY!!!! Also - room was very hot as under floor heating was on and couldn't be turned off. Air-con did not work & windows don't open at all. Gave us a fan which was great. Towels shabby and frayed. Room needed some TLC - like toilet had lime scale build up that made it look dirty.
I had an evening meeting and early morning with customers in the area so decided to stay in the Best Western Plus Milford Hotel. A very friendly lady greeted me upon arrival. Check in was swift. The room was clean, spacious and contained all that was required for a stay. I didn't eat at the hotel, but had a drink at the bar and the atmosphere was nice and the food ordered by other people looked great. Room was comfy, with a combination of underfloor heating and good air conditioning. Bed was great, not too hard, not too soft. Shower was not great, but got the job done. Check out was quick and again a friendly chap who enquired as to if I enjoyed my stay and bid me a good day. I will definitely stay again when in the area.
As part of a coach trip we stayed overnight. We were welcomed by a very happy Natalie. She gave us the essential information then we got our room keys which had been preprepared...very efficient. The rooms were immaculate newly refurbished...the bathrooms were really classy. Dinner was very good. We had pre ordered from a menu in our rooms. Lots of choice for our 3 course meal. Our group tried all three items from each course and all agreed that it was a good menu, well presented and very edible Sadly the breakfast was less appetising....the cereals were in buffet form but the hot food was served straight from the kitchen...each person got the same food...mushrooms on each plate...4 of the group did NOT like Mushrooms... we would never have chosen them from a buffet. The staff were very friendly. Overall a pleasant stay. I would return
Beautifully clean room and friendly staff. More choice needed on the evening menu, especially for vegetarians, thank goodness neither of us was Vegan. Shame about the dreadful view of a caravan yard behind the hotel.
A family visits for Sunday Lunch at this little gem of a restaurant in the Best Western just off the old A1 is well worth a visit. The food was exceptionally cooked, the starter of Mackerel salad was Devine, followed by roast beef with Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes with a selection of seasonal vegetables. The desert was a wonderful chocolate brownie which was light and tasty. The services was first class to top it off. Will definitely be going again
Just off a busy main road, reception area not the best at the bottom of the stairs and took a while to book in,the room was clean and tidy nice bathroom. My bedroom was facing the road and i could not hear the road, very comfy bed snd i actually had a good night sleep in a hotel. TV was a bit dated and small, bar food choice was ok the onion ring were a tad greasy for my liking, pint of lager was about £3.80 ish the lounge area where the TV was a bit small.A choice of what you would expect for breakfast, toast, cereal, fruit etc, but you had to order your main breakfast it was not self service
Recent stay for our son's wedding. We booked 3 rooms for the night before the wedding (and 2 for the next night). Our rooms were, very thoughtfully, all together at the very end of the corridor meaning we were able to get ready on the wedding morning without having to go backwards and forwards down the corridor between rooms. The rooms were comfortable and clean with all the expected facilities. Breakfast was plentiful with continental and cooked options. Service was good and we received a friendly welcome. We have stayed here before (hence trusting the hotel for such an important occasion) and would stay again if in the area in the future.
We stayed here for 18 days whilst renovating our new home . We had a non smoking superior room , the room was immaculate and smelt lovely and fresh , the bathroom was really clean, it shone. The food was excellent and served by helpful friendly staff . The decor was light and modern and there was plenty of lounge room to relax in with a drink at the end of a long day. The only thing this hotel lacks is a pool ,if it had one it would be a 4 star hotel. Well done to acting manager Harry and all the staff and thank you for making our stay so good. ,
Reservation was ok although I had difficulty with the group reservation number not connecting and then recognising menu options, I noticed that the published number on google is not the number you are calling when you press ‘call' from the listing. Check-in was lengthy as the person in front was trying to change rooms and had a story he was going to finish regardless of the time he was taking up, the only thing that saved me was his wife noticing he had accumulated a que. The room was clean and tidy and well kept. Sadly a wholly positive review ends there. The zip and link mattress had seen better days so it was a struggle not to roll off the edge. I'd like to say I'm over egging it but when you sit on a bed and sink to the base it's never a good sign and I'm a light fella. Room 13 was very unlucky with doors banging through the night so just as I drifted off there was another thump and I was awake. Breakfast service was slightly severe, although it was nice to see that all the guests were treated in the same way, not just us. Pastry on the buffet was dry and unappetising which was a contradiction when they have some other lovely touches (like honey on the comb) - it's a bit of a mismatch. Scrambled eggs on toast came out dry and just warm, double espresso in a large coffee cup was so watered it tasted like filter coffee. On check out housekeeping leaning on a vacuum, the receptionist and breakfast waitress holding court at reception so I wasn't even asked if I'd had a nice stay. The interaction was ‘you have X left to pay', no thank you for staying, no have a safe journey. Overall and taking service into account I'd say the room was overpriced by £30. I've had better service with Premier Inn.
I have stayed at this hotel a few times over recent years, and have always enjoyed my stays. Lovely executive rooms, great breakfasts, nice restaurant, etc, and I am almost certain to return again. However, I feel since the change in ownership, things are not as they were, towels probably need renewing, etc. I stayed recently during the hot weather, but struggled to sleep, etc, due to the air conditioning being out of action. I was moved to a standard room for my second evening, and refunded the difference in rates, for which I am grateful. On the plus side I would like to praise the staff who made sure my room switch was arranged and sorted - Amanda especially, but also Lisa and Kelly - thank you.
Friendly staff, clean hotel, good value and pet-friendly. Had nice meal in the restaurant. Location is quiet. Hotel is surrounded by a somewhat scruffy caravan dealership which is the only minor negative in my view.
I came for afternoon tea with my mum a few weeks ago and was extremely disappointed. We were advised by the man working in the bar/restaurant that he didn't have our afternoon tea booking and he asked us to go to reception. And added there would be a 20 minute wait as they hadn't made our scones. We informed the receptionist and she looked on the system and in a very relaxed tone told the man working in the restaurant that we had booked and she remembers taking the phone call. I am not sure who's responsibility it is to make sure the booking is passed to the restaurant/kitchen but neither of them apologised to each other or us. The receptionist didn't speak to us and explain what happen or provide any apology. We were asked to take a seat and advised that it would be 20 minutes (again no apology) and were provided with tea and told we could get a fresh pot when our food arrived. In the end our afternoon arrived at 4.10pm when we were booked for 3pm and there was no apology when it arrived and at no point during our visit, not even a simply sorry! And we had to ask for the extra pot of tea! The food was nice, however, I cannot understand how it takes over an hour to cook the scones as they are tiny and half the size of scones usually provided at afternoon tea! We paid with a groupon voucher and were given no compensation. If we had been paying in cash I would not have expected to have to pay the full bill and I half joked that I hope we will get some extras as I believe that would have been the right thing to do in this situation. And on seeing the size of the scones I can't believe an extra couple weren't added! I think to not even receive an apology is shameful!
Travelling to York we used this Hotel as a stopover. Arrived 10 minutes before the restaurant closed but we still able to order. The salmon and veg selection were perfectly cooked and presented. It was a BH and checking the times for breakfast I assumed it would be the same times as a weekend. We missed the cut off time (they make no change for BH!) but we were still able to have a cooked breakfast, with a gluten free diet that was important a continental breakfast is not suitable. Room was immaculate, staff very helpful and the chef highly recommended. We were not the only ones to get caught out so suggest BH breakfast times are advised, missing breakfast would have significantly spoilt the stay.
Had a one night stay as a stopover on way to York. Must thank the very helpful receptionist Nicola, who sorted out some confusion over our booking and offered an upgrade to an executive room. The room btw was very comfortable, albeit very hot as the hotel aircon had packed up. Fans were provided but situation not helped by the fact that the windows can't be opened. With working aircon I'd happily stay again if in the area.
Stayed overnight alone, easy check in , nice room , clean . Only negative rear view from window a load of caravans. The breakfast was nice "Yorkshire tea, Yorkshire cooked breakfast but Yorksire continental breakfast? ( croissant with a black pudding in it?) I ate in Watermill restaurant there, tasty burger , fries washed down with several beers at bar. The bar staff friendly although it shut a little early, a bit limited if you are without car there.
Reception lady literally didn't even know what day it was when we arrived and was unable to answer simple questions related to hotel. I guess that was one reason she didn't say the air con was broken on a hot day, though she promised to switch it on for our second night - which didn't happen because it was broken. To add insult to injury a jobs worth in the restaurant and the chef decided they couldn't provide sandwiches for us even though on the previous night they did this and more for other customers. It seems that this hotel has gone down hill since it received certificates of excellence. You can do better so go elsewhere and don't? rely a getting a decent service because only some staff here know what it means.
Good hotel ideally situated. Checkin/out very good and good customer service. The room was average in decor and was cold but satisfactory. Bar and restaurant was good as was the breakfast. Sports facilities are excellent.
First visit to this very good, dog friendly, hotel. Good location with plenty of on site parking. We found every member of staff we met to be efficient and friendly especially in the dining room. We dined in the hotel each evening of our three night stay and found the choice of menu to be edxcellent and the food well served and cooked to perfection. This standard was maintained for the breakfast servings as well. We will not hesitate to return to this “Yorkshire Gem”
Stayed at this location on route to London and was pleasantly surprised. Rooms very clean, breakfast was very good. Staff were very good and made an effort to make the stay pleasant for us. Good value for money spent
A good quality hotel, but what makes it special are the staff, friendly and engaging not "just doing the job". The room was very clean and comfortable and very quiet. Although on a dual carriageway, we couldnt hear the traffic through the triple glazed windows. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and the evening meal was well presented and tasty. The hotel is dog friendly and we will definitely stay again. It is well located for trips to York, Harrogate and the Yorkshire countryside.
I stay at this hotel 3 or 4 times a month. It's always friendly rooms are clean and the WiFi is ok, The food in the evening is ok, the food in the evening I think myself it is ok but not as good as it was 12 months ago. May changed the chef ?
This was our first stay in a Best Western in England. The most outstanding things were 1. The very helpful and friendly staff. 2. The outstanding food. So well presented and very good. Overall a most enjoyable few days . In future we will be looking for a Best Western Hotel first, wherever we go. Thank you.
Enjoyed a two night stay at the hotel, staff were all very friendly and helpful. Took the train from the nearby station at Micklesfield into Leeds so location wise it was great. Would definately stay here again and would recommend it as a base it you want to see around Yorkshire.
I have stayed here several times in the last few months and the rooms are excellent, the staff are very friendly and it is great value for money. I would highly recommend the hotel and I look forward to coming here again in the months ahead
I stayed here with my fiance as we had our 'pre-wedding photo shoot' in Leeds and just wanted a cheap and cheerful base to meet our photographer. Based on the reviews from TripAdvisor we decided to stay at the Best Western and it was absolutely fantastic and exceeded our expectations - The young lady on reception (15th April PM) was absolutely lovely and so was the lady behind the bar when we got a couple of drinks in the evening. Check in took approximately 2 minutes to do and our room was very roomy and also immaculate. Bathroom was spotless and there were really lovely touches - like, the cups also had saucers, there were generous numbers of tea bags, milk and biscuits as well as 2 fluffy bathrobes. I didn't need to connect to WIFI as I got a 4G Signal (EE) everywhere I went. The bed was very comfy with loads of pillows and cushions - Not much of a view (Second hand caravan company!) however for our purpose, it was absolutely perfect. We'd certainly stay here again if we were in the area - Really lovely staff, lovely room and lovely experience.
Can't fault the value for money or great service here. We paid 110 for two nights B&B in the BW winter deal. You just can't get this sort of value for money normally. We were visiting York but didn't want to pay inflated York prices. Thoroughly recommended
We were looking for a hotel in the area where the dog would be welcome but we'll certainly use it again when we don't have the dog with us. The staff were very helpful and the room had everything we needed including space for the dog bed. We didn't use the restaurant but room service was very fast and efficient.
This hotel was a fluke find as we were looking to stay to avoid a snowy weather forecast. Staff were lovely and the room perfect. The meal and general quality was second to none. A warm northern welcome was all we needed and we had this in bucket loads. Highly recommended.
Stopped here on the way travelling up North. Good value small hotel which is not far off the main A1.Room was nicely decorated and clean. Food was also good and Restaurant staff friendly. We didnt have breakfast as we quickly wanted to get on with travelling.
Got an excellent deal in this hotel, lovely room, very quiet. Windows don't open so air con has to be on at night, not ideal. The hotel is not close to other restaurants but the hotel restaurant is ok , we had a good value 3 course meal for £20
Booked when looking for an affordable hotel within striking distance of York. It's on a bypassed bit of the old A1 with the motorway in a cutting some distance away. Although at heart a 1970s hotel the rooms have been upgraded. The bathroom featured heated mirrors and underfloor heating. Both good ideas. Maybe I was tired but a good night's sleep.
We had to travel from the south to the north to visit a very sick family member plus a recently bereaved family member. The accommodation and staff were everything we hoped for and made a stressful situation seem a little easier. Thank you to everybody involved.
This hotel is conveniently situated for venues in the area to the east of Leeds. Rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. Food was well prepared and presented. Staff were friendly and overall they created a warm and friendly atmosphere. Those visiting at weekends should be aware that breakfast is not scheduled until 8am rather than the more convenient 6.30 am on weekdays. It would also benefit from a TV in the bar or lounge although those in the rooms are excellent.
Warm welcoming, comfy place, great room and fantastic food.. Loved the executive room, attention to detail outstanding. Watermill Restaurant has a good menu choice, food delicious and service excellent. Would highly recommend.
Delightful staff Dog friendly (although limited options for walking the dog from the hotel) No road noise in bedroom (triple glazed, non-opening windows) Very clean Tea/coffee making facilities in room Pleasant breakfast (£12.95 for traditional English breakfast, less for continental) Convenient location - close to motorway network and Leeds Would recommend to friends
A nice hotel very accessible from the motorway and was easy to get to Leeds also train station was close by so it offered an other way to get into Leeds town centre staff were very friendly and helpful when asked a question I will be coming back to stay again
Phil the manger took my booking the day before we traveled first to Harrogate then down to Leeds we arrived at the hotel about six checked in room ground floor we had three little dogs the was a good size spotless as was the bathroom with under floor heating went to the bar for a much needed glass of wine chef came to see me has I have an allergy no problem we had the haddoc and chips lovely ?? and fresh Enjoyed every mouthful had a good nights sleep in a very comfy bed had a fantastic breakfast everything top quality couldn't fault anything all staff very friendly and helpful definitely will be going back we were in room 7 ??????
We came up to the area for a family event, we were thrilled with the room...an enormous bed. The room was clean and lovely. We paid £80 inc breakfast for 2 on the first night and £45 for room only on the second. The hotel, bar and staff great. The only snag was the continental breakfast on the second day was not as extensive as promised, but that was easily sorted. Will return here as we were delighted.
My husband and i stayed at the Milford for 1 night. The bar was quiet and the breakfast was great. The staff where approachable and professional. id like to thank the night manager who helped us out at 3am. After an argument with my hubby he acted like Jeremy Kyle and got us to talk out our differences and brought us back together. A credit to your team. (shane?) will definately be back, this time without the drama.
Travelled from Alicante again for family business Everything spot on as we have come to expect from this loveley hotel and its lovely informal aspect . The reception is professional with 24 hour service and all aspects of this hotel qualify the very reasonable pricing of the loveley clean warm and very presentable rooms. The restaurant has a good choice of menue with daily specials my only thought here would be to implement a good House wine at a good price! Lounge menu excellent and great value. Loved the executive room and the underfloor heating ! Always appreciate the very professional efficiencey of Phillip !! Thanks again Phillip and your team . Paula and Gerry Pafreyman Spain !!
I recently came here for a business trip, and it was fantastic. First arrival showed very clean reception area and a very comfortable atmosphere. The reception team were very helpful and easy to speak to. Rooms were very clean and almost brand new. The attention to details was fantastic. I booked a table in the watermill restaurant that i had been told was worth the money The meal was fantastic and the staff were amazing. A certain mention to Harry, I had been here for a few nights and Harry always made me welcomed and was a credit to the team. So happy to help and very approachable. All in all, would 100% stay again
Stayed here whilst on training for work. The hotel is a very friendly place to stay. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are very very good, great beds and all you need. Shower is a plus too, not trickling water but a good jet to wake you up. The breakfast was delicious, and the bar staff very friendly. A great place to stay, highly recommended.
Recently stayed for one night on business. Very nice hotel overall. Check in was very simple due to excellent staff on reception who were approachable. The room was great - clean and hygienic, with a comfy bed. To top that off the meal in the restaurant was high quality.
Business trip, wasn't looking forward to it, didn't even choose hotel - but what a pleasant surprise! Lovely staff, good food, rooms better than you'd expect, turned a business trip into a pleasant break. OK would have preferred different company, but can't blame the hotel because my colleagues are boring! Recommend this place - from the moment you get there reception staff are really efficient but friendly too, make you feel they actually do care, and that carries on right throughout your stay. Give it a try.
to check in only to find earliest check in time was 15.00. This no problem to excellent reception staff, they went and checked room was ready and let me have the room early. Bar staff and restaurant staff great, good meal much enjoyed
Tara and the team on Reception are brilliant! Always friendly, customer focused and go out of their way to ensure my stays are looked after from arrival. Normally ring up last minute to get a room, and they more often than not manage to accommodate. Very Good asset to the organisation
This is a good hotel, known locally as the Watermill, conveniently situated off the A1 and the A63 (Leeds/Selby road). We were visiting a number of local villages and this was an ideal base. The rooms are well furnished and we liked the idea of underfloor heating in the bathroom. The bar is pleasant and the restaurant has a good basic menu. We did note that all the staff, from reception, restaurant, through to the room cleaning team, are very pleasant, hard working and helpful. A hotel that does exactly what it says and is incredibly good value for money!
Excellent overnight stay and it felt superior to some other best Western Hotels I have used. Service was very good and the choice and standard of food was also good. Reception staff were efficient and helpful
I stayed here on a business trip in Leeds and it was very good, some best western hotels are a bit old and tired, however the Milford is really good. It is very quiet which is great for a good nights sleep and my bed was really comfortable too. The whole hotel was very clean and the staff were very polite and gave good service. I will definitely go back, a really nice stay
Enjoyed the stay will be back next month friendly staff.room comfortable..no noise from outside double glazing very efficient. Evening meal very nice personally would have liked to have more vegetables
Standard hotel right on a1 with “ crappy looking caravan area to rear “. Triple glazing. Which can't be opened created a hot room which I couldn't really sleep in. Lovely breakfast. But no superb honeycomb left boo not bad afternoon meal. But the whole job was let down by v v expensive beer and when we came back on an evening I had a Guinness and my partner had a small glass of symphony coke which cost £6.85 !! And the Guineas was a flipping can. Gutted
My favourite hotel to relax after christmas, Just disappointed with my evening meal. breakfast was great and lovely choice ,We choice the superior room which was really comfortable and clean, I will be staying again.
My partner and I stayed here for one night on our way further up the country. The food was limited as it was New Year's Day, but the staff were attentive and very friendly towards us which more than made up for it. The restaurant is spacious and clean, with lounge chairs beside the window for a more relaxed feel. The room itself had everything we needed for a comfortable stay; kettle, television, ridiculously comfortable bed that we just sank into! The maids shuffled about outside our room late morning, but it didn't wake us. We skipped breakfast as it was £10 a head for what seemed like a basic continental buffet, but other than that I'd recommend staying over here should you find yourself in Leeds!
Have stayed at the Milford on a number of occasions, and I'm sure that I'll be back again. Rooms are really nice, breakfasts good, as is bar food, and restaurant. Staff are generally friendly too. However, I do think it has changed somewhat since the original owners sold up. The air conditioning and heating in my room wasn't working - but I wasn't told about this when checking in...I only found out when I noticed a small electric heater in my room, and when I started feeling cold. I can't imagine this would have gon unresolved when the owners were in situ.
Booked this to break a trip from Scotland back down south. I highly recommend. Discovered that this place is popular with people breaking their journey. And I can understand why. Hotel was quiet being a Saturday night in early January but the staff couldn't do enough for us, very helpful and friendly. The building looks a bit 80s from the outside but ignore that, it's extremely comfortable. Executive queen room was very very comfortable and cosy with a VERY inviting sofa to lounge on with a cup of tea (Yorkshire tea bags so it was a good strong cup of tea) and a great refreshing hot shower after a cold journey. We had dinner in the restaurant because we were tired. And dinner was very good. Emphasis on local produce. A great sweet potato soup and poached pear and Mrs Bell's blue cheese timbale (me) were followed by delicious local venison cooked just right tender and slightly pink inside (me) and slow cooked belly pork which also had a lovely piece of succulent roast pork, crackling and a black pudding treat. Generous portions. Vegetables cooked with a little bite still in them. Delicious. A sticky toffee pudding and (for me) local cheeses finished it off. For £22 each this was incredible value for money. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good dinner and parking. It was only 6 minutes from the Motorway on satnav and is well positioned for A1 and M1 They also do Sunday lunch on Sundays and afternoon tea during the week so if you want something nicer than a plastic sandwich in a service station, for 2-3 miles of diversion you can find this. Really quite a find this. We will be back
We stayed at the Best Western Plus South Milford for just one night. From the moment we checked in to when we checked out everything was perfect. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, We stayed in a suite which was exceptional! Comfy bed, Good size room. We also ate at the hotel. Both breakfast and evening meal. All staff so friendly and helpful. Special mentions for David on the bar and breakfast service, and Jo and Luke in the restaurant. They are a credit to the hotel.
We had booked several months in advance only to be told about a week or so before that the restaurant was closed on the Saturday night due to a party night going on until 1.00 pm! We were meeting friends and it was on the run up to Christmas so too late to change to somewhere else. A bit of pre-warning would have been nice. Thankfully we were out late and it didn't disrupt our stay. The room was very pleasant and clean and the bed very comfy. Breakfast in the morning was of a good standard. All staff were very approachable and friendly and went out of their way to make you feel welcome. I would stay again.
The hotel was very friendly and clean I arrived quite late in the evening but just before 9pm they were very accommodating when it came to me ordering some food. The food was very enjoyable The bedroom was clean and had lots of little touches
We had a do for 14 people as we did last year. We had booked rooms for all but they got mixed up due to changes in staff and we had to tell them 3 times before the evening before they got it correct. There should have been a disco but there wasn't infact there was no music at all in any way, not even piped. Last year we got a free drink for all 14, nothing this time. The rooms were fine. The evening meal was fine. The breakfast was all luke warm. If you don't like dogs be carefull, there were some on our corridore of the yapping variety and we weren't even told. I had thoughgt of going again next year but I am afraid they have done themselves out of 14 bookings and meals.
First impressions were mixed. Hotel main signage is looking distressed to say the least but entrance is very light and modern. Check in was swift although no information on breakfast was offered. Directed to my room incorrectly, the desk staff should learn right from left! But found the signage to be good so found the room easily. Standard sized room, good quality bed although covered in cushions which are so unnecessary! Bathroom clean and a good size. Location is excellent and hotel is easy to find so I would stay again when in the area.
Due to road works the A1 tends to close on Friday nights and as I travel to Durham frequently and normally stay at Days Inn Wetherby. This time I tried Best Western and it was a pleasant surprise. The hotel is easy to get to less that 5 mis off the A1. The room was large with a heated floor and a sofa area. A good sized flat screen TV and free wifi all for £49. This is £15 cheaper than most hotels. In short this is better value than Premier Inn and Days Inn. The hotel is a little diamond
Good clean hotel with friendly helpful staff. Nice rooms, large comfy beds and fairly quiet. Bathroom heated floor! Tea and Coffee in room. Only downside for us was evening restaurant food was not that great very plain and not particularly cheap, also breakfast was a shambolic affair. Staff seemed rushed off their feet. not much selection and lots of empty spaces where food should have been but when asked it took and age to replenish certain items including fruit juice, tea and coffee and even bowls!! In summary good visit liked the hotel and the staff very much thats why rating very good would stay again but eat off site elswhere!
Hotel close to road networks for Leeds ,Harrogate etc . Very well appointed rooms ,triple glazed and very quiet. Restaurant menu excellent and food very good indeed. Presentation of food very classy with attention to detail well above many more expensive restaurants we have visited.
Great quality for the price. Spacious room, very friendly staff, delicious food. No added salt in my dish made my evening. I hate over-salted food that you get in 85% of restaurants in the uk, but this place truly surprised by their quality of cooking.
My stay has been so much better being away from home by how freindly and also helpfull the staff have been one person si far has stood out a lady called shannon who has although always busy has been very helpfull and freindly which has made my stay away from home better
Wow! What a find. We had a beautiful room, spotlessly clean and sparkling. Warm and inviting, with a calm ambience. The room was very well decorated, with quite a modern style, but made to feel cosy, with an L shaped sofa with nice cushions, and a small coffee table. Very convenient tea and coffee making, and a fridge with bottles of cold water. The room was a good size, with plenty of room to move around, a kingsize bed, with spotless white bed linen. An important thing for us, an electric socket each side of the bed, so we can charge our phones overnight. There was a comfortable chair for me to sit and dry my hair, in front of the mirror, with an electric socket In the right place. The bathroom was a decent size, with plenty of space to put our spongebags, and large white fluffy towels. A good shower, and bathtub. The restaurant staff were friendly and efficient and the food delicious. The reception staff were professional, friendly and efficient and went out of their way to accommodate our requests. We highly recommend this hotel, and if we return to this are again, it is the top of the list.
This hotel is ideally positioned when travelling north south or east west. We have stayed four or five times and have always been very happy and contented. We have recommended it to friends and relations
Love this hotel, but hoping this is a no off bad experience. No breakfast because the waiter was on his own. I must have heard him say this half a dozen time whilst waiting for my cup of tea. Will still be back has the service is normally first class.
Had tried to book in with husband for 2 night got stay which we had ore booked through booking.com... on arrival they had no booking of us so sent us down the motorway to the next hotel as they thought we had the wrong hotel... even thou I showed him the confirmation booking!! Went back up to the hotel to be told they had not received the booking from Booking.com... Hotel was fully booked due to a funeral but the receptionist gave us his room (executive suite) for our 2 night got stay... I'm sure he slept in a cupboard as he had the same shirt on the next day!! The room was spacious but very warm and although we told the receptionist twice the tv didn't work nothing was done about it.. We had breakfast and dinner in the Watermill restaurant which was very nice.. staff were rushed as they were very busy... A nice hotel to stay at and a good location.. food was very nice.
I'll stay again but avoid the breakfast! The rooms are very clean, very well appointed and definitely rates excellent. The cooked breakfast was simply awful. It tasted so greasy and cheap. Then to add insult to injury, the service was not attentive. An easy win. Just buy decent sausages. Learn to fry an egg. Ditch the cheap hash browns
Never had a problem with this hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the hotel was quiet and relaxing. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and good quality. This hotel is always my first choice when I stay in the area.
We used this hotel as our youngest daughter is studying at a college in Garforth and this one had good reviews, we were not disappointed and couldn't find any fault with it. We booked a superior room which was clean, spacey and had a bath as well as a shower. We ate in the restaurant, and whilst not the cheapest, we had a three course meal which was very good. We will definitely be staying here again when we visit our daughter.
Stayed her on a last minute booking and got the best rate booked directly through Best Western. This is a small hotel on a busy main road but we were not disturbed by any traffic noise even though our room faced the main road. The room was very clean, warm and comfortable -lovely comfy bed! The bathroom had underfloor heating which was lovely too. We ate in the restaurant(evening) the food was good but overpriced and not a very large choice of main meals. We did not have breakfast though had the option to pay extra, but again thought it was expensive for what was on offer. There was a wedding party at the hotel the night we stayed and whilst we were getting ready to go out could hear the music in our room - lucky we were going out as this would have driven us mad all evening! The staff were very friendly and helpful - no complaints!
original text: English Don't get me wrong: the room is ok, and has all amenities one can expect in this hotel category, there is a good choice for breakfast. So why I am awarding 3 points only instead of 4? First: arrived on a Sunday, and reserved a table for dinner. Menu only says, Sunday carvery. Vegetarian option looks bleak. Some other guest gets the full menu, and I'm asking for it, too. Staff asks the chef, and comes back with message, that he "would let me order from the full menu" - no, not on sufferance! For room service one could order (nearly) everything from the full menu! So why not in the restaurant? Is this considered "service"? And second, which is an absolute first in my many years of travels: this hotel already sends you - they might call it information, I call it - spam, even BEFORE checking in.
I have used this hotel over a long period of time and is always at a very good standard, the rooms are clean and warm and the service is very good, food is all so very good. There is alway room to park your car.
Stayed here while at a horse event. The hotel was only a couple of minutes from the A1(M). The greeting from reception was very friendly and we stood discussing the Christmas tree that had been put up (already!!!!). We were very please by the quality of the room (as you can see from the photographs). The bed was extra comfortable and large. The bedroom was a good size, with a seating area so you didn't have to lie on the bed all the time. The bathroom had a bath and pipes in speaker from the Rev. The bathroom also had underfloor heating. We went down to the restraint for. Meal, my wife had beef which fell to pieces it was so tender, I had the rump steak which I asked to be cooked medium to well, when it came out it was more well, we'll cooked. Overall the stay was very nice and the only disappointing thing about the stay was we had to be up at 5 am to leave and couldn't enjoy the room for a while longer. Would I stay here agai.....without a doubt YES.
Nice hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast cooked to order so very good. Would have liked a second coffee but all the waiting staff busy. That said at least the cup I did have was good coffee freshly made. Nice big bed. Liked the speaker in bathroom so I could listen to the television whilst in the bathroom!
We were looking for an overnight stay on our way from Edinburgh to London. We booked this hotel based solely on its location . What a surprise! We really liked this place. It's a bit off the beaten path but worth it. Parking is right out front and very convenient. The room was good, bed and pillows comfy. The bathroom as large with a shower and tub. Check in and out went smoothly and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The restaurant was good, fresh and plentiful.
This is a very comfortable hotel and is now our preferred hotel when visiting the area. Comfortable, quiet rooms, lots of parking and an excellent breakfast. Had two rooms and both were very clean, supplied tea and coffee and a decent TV.
Well placed for motorways and very clean and comfortable, this hotel has everything you need for a few nights without being too expensive. The staff are very helpful and the restaurant offers a selection of good food
Wonderful executive rooms, very nice fresh food. Seating arrangement isn't great and require improvement. Receptionists are beautiful and very well spoken. WiFi is Okay and free parking is okay as well. Would be nice to put a heated hut outside for smokers or bar drinkers to enjoy cold in heated environment. Menu is limited but taste is very good. Overall 4star
We regularly book Best Western hotels and this one is a credit to them. Immaculately clean everywhere we went in the hotel, we booked an executive Queen suite which was really worth the money. Do not be put off by location on the main road as triple glazing means barely a sound from the traffic! Nicely decorated room, extremely clean, underfloor heating in the bathroom & speaker system, plenty of complimentary toiletries & refreshments including bottled water in the mini fridge all of which was replenished as we stayed 2 nights. The only let down for me on this visit was staff in the restaurant not overly considerate, little things like, not once asked if we wanted to order extra drinks with our meal, instead we got our own in between courses as the same 2 members of staff were serving in restaurant & bar at the same time which means it was just as easy for us to get them. However that was a minor thing & we would definitely stay again, as great location for easy journey to York & Leeds & surrounding areas.
Great hotel, everything locally accessible and clean. We stayed as a group and was very comfortable. Breakfasts great. Would definitely come again Price was reasonable for its location and there was access to everything we needed.
There is an old saying about Cleanliness and Godliness and this place is very close to achieving the latter. You could eat your meals off the floors. We have used this hotel for many years and although the fact that it is now no longer privately owned shows it is still excellent. The staff change but the friendly attitude remains. The standard of breakfast and dinner in the restaurant was also very high. The wi fi connection is a bit hit and miss otherwise it is very hard to find faults.
Lovely hotel. Really easy to get to. Is on a main road but the windows are triple glazed so we didn't here a single bit of road noise. Bathrooms are great, underfloor heating is a nice touch as are the bathroom speakers. Comfy bed. Blackout curtains. Didn't stay for breakfast as it was busy and looking at it wasn't really worth the price (better if you get a deal when booking though). Good location, about 8 min drive to Xscape, Castleford. Not far from Leeds. Think about 20 mins to drive but we opted for the train from Micklefield to Leeds which only cost £10.60 return for two adults! Micklefield station is just up the road from the hotel. Could walk it in about 20 mins although the road up to it is 60mph and no proper sidewalk! We opted for taxi as it was raining which was a fixed price of £10. Staff at the hotel were great, nothing was too much for them, really friendly and helpful. Overall a good stay. Would probably stay nearer to Leeds itself for a big night out to save the train and taxi journey but would stay here again as a base.
Stayed over night here. I felt it was easy to get to. Room was big enough with everything you'd need - tea and coffee making facilities, a tele, black out curtains. You sort of sink into the bed which was nice. Bath was roomy and lush! Toiletries (no conditioner if that bothers you), hair dryer, big towels. Floor was warm! Excellent restaurant adjoining the main hotel - serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a lounge menu from 10am til late. Also room service. A hotel that did the job!
I was on a coachtrip to Scotland and this was our overnight stop on the return part of trip. The receptionist came on coach to give us information before getting off. We then went to the desk to get our room keys. I asked for a mat for the bath which was bought to my room a little later. The room was very nice. Large comfy bed with lovely pillows, bathroom was immaculate with under floor heating. If you had TV on you can hear the sound through speakers in bathroom. There is in room tea/coffee facilities, safe. We had been asked to choose from menu for evening meal and return to reception. Obviously not for normal guests to do. Dinner was well presented and tasty and hot with vegetables in separate dishes. Before and after meal there is two lounges to relax and have a drink in. In the morning we had ceareal, croissants to choose from plus a full breakfast. Toast was on table. Tea and coffee aswell. The staff were very good. Friendly and helpful. There were other guest in hotel too and some diners just came to eat in the restaurant in evening. A very pleasant hotel to stay in as a base for the area around Leeds.
Great service. Lovely staff. Very helpful. Lovely evening meal and breakfast. Had a room at the front and despite being on the main road was very quiet. (Triple glazing). Great stay. Keep up the good work.
Good value for money, The rooms are well above average with toilets all recently modernised. Bar and restaurant is friendly and cosy with everyone only too happy to help. The food is top class with a decent variety to cater for every palette.
Stayed here overnight on our journey from Scotland. The room was fine with a nice recently refurbished bathroom. The bed was comfy. Couldn't open the windows which I don't like. Also no drawers at all. Dinner was just OK which is a bit disappointing after reading great reviews. However, breakfast was very good. Staff are all friendly and nice.
A comfortable night in a well appointed room large enough to have two chairs and wardrobe. Staff very helpful despite our late arrival Excellent meal in the Watermill Restaurant which is very good value for money.
Had a lovely evening at this hotel, room was excellent as were all the facilities. Friendly, welcoming staff, and our dog was made very welcome too. Will definitely stay there again if we are in the area.
Stayed here with my sister for an overnight stay on our way to Scotland, the hotel, food and staff were great. We found it very comfortable a nice relaxing stop before continuing on. The staff were very nice and helpful especially Dave/David on reception who we found friendly, easy going and very pleasant and exceptionally helpful too. A nice time was had here by the both of us.
I was invited by old friends to lunch here. I had passed it many times when it was alongside the A1M. Nowadays it is a bit marooned due to the re routing of the A1 and the M1 so I was not expecting much. In the event, it was excellent. Good varied menu - not hi falutin but not low brow either. The food and the service were above reproach. This hotel is now firmly on our list. Well done.
Very nice friendly staff from the start. Room was was great but shower lacking power and Aircon not work. Food very nice indeed. A little tucked out the way but easy to find and plenty of parking. Congratulation to the staff. I have stayed in plenty of mid priced hotels and very happy with all members.
Would we stay again? Of course we would. Much more than the budget brands, and it beats the chain hotels at the "big" hotel feel. The staff are all dedicated to making your stay a pleasant one and by doing that they are generating repeat business. Thanks to all.
I have been going to Milford Hotel for the last few year, both for overnights, conference facilities and meetings in the lounge. Exceptionally clean, welcoming and attentive staff, can't do enough for myself and colleagues. Food fabulous special mention to Andy the chef for his mushroom omelettes and chocolate éclairs.
The Hotel is a very good stay. Room modern, clean, comfortable with excellent bathroom facilities. Food most enjoyable and well cooked. It is only a short journey from the main road and quite accessible and can fully recommend.
Good position on the old A1 , but near the new road. No major problems though we found the sofas rather low . Very clean ,quiet at night , staff pleasant and plenty of parking ,but only average for value.
Booked to stay here for a weekend as attending a wedding close by. Check in was a little chaotic, I felt that the gentleman on the desk didn't seem to know what he was doing, didn't advise us on any details about the hotel, however he was very friendly and maybe due to the hotel being busy was a little under pressure. We had booked an executive room which was a good size and very clean. The room was a little warm unfortunately even with the air con. The bathroom extractor fan did not work at all so the bathroom steamed up very quickly, I have to say all the staff were very friendly, lots of choice for breakfast and the food was good.
First visit but would certainly stay again. Comfortable room, welcoming staff, an excellent evening meal and breakfast, and even a decent pint of Black Sheep! Only gripe was not being able to open the bedroom window for fresh air.
From the time you enter the hotel, a warm welcome awaits you, nice professional, friendly staff, not overbearing as with many place these days ! The reception and restaurant are pristine, it's shows real care and attention to detail, I have eaten here twice now and found both times to be excellent, First time I ordered the battered Fish & chips with hand cut chips, homemade tartar sauce. I ordered the thick cut Ham, Egg & hand cut chips, both times were excellent and I will be returning soon. A new menu has been implemented by the new head chef which looks really good, good luck to janet the new GM and her team.
We chose this hotel as we had a free night when buying our car with Arnold Clark. We stayed 2 nights. We had excellent service from the staff, the room was very clean and spacious . The hotel is 10 miles out of Leeds so further than we thought but easy access to the A1 to travel to the main cities .
Nice premises and good service. Quality food is served at the restaurant although it is slightly overpriced and IMHO lacking of a wider choice in the menu. Wi-Fi was not working properly during my stay and this is something I would normally take for granted when I pick an hotel with these rates in business trip.
Convenient for business in Leeds. Stayed here a few times - quality is consistent. Reasonable price. Friendly service. On a main road not really a tourist hotel and the location is functional rather than aesthetic.
Me and my partner visited the Milford hotel at the end of July into the beginning of August and we both are amazed my the quality and comfort we felt during our stay! The hotel it's self boasts spacious rooms which are absolutely immaculate and provide all possible amenities a person could need. However, what really made our stay was the quality of food and service we received from the Watermill restaurant, I also had the pleasure of meeting the new general manager who assured us that we wouldn't be disappointed by their facilities and would ensure that our stay was both enjoyable and gave us a home from home experience. This is exactly what we received, we hope to plan more visits to Yorkshire in future and will stay at the Milford again!
I had booked myself and 3 friends for an Afternoon Tea using a Groupon voucher. Unfortunately when we arrived they had no knowledge of our booking. The staff were apologetic when I insisted I had booked and then asked us to wait in the lounge area whilst they prepared our food. We were given a complimentary pot of fresh tea with extra hot water whist we waited. Eventually we were seated to enjoy our afternoon tea. We had a selection of chicken, egg mayo, beef and tuna sandwiches but only 3 fingers of each when there were four of us which we did think a little out of the ordinary. We have enjoyed a number of afternoon teas at different locations and have never come across this before. There was a good selection of cakes and the scones were fresh and warm. There was four of everything once we had eaten our sandwiches. We had a choice of tea or coffee - we had tea and it was served hot and fresh. I have to say as we left at about 5pm there were some delicious smells coming from the kitchen. The staff were polite and helpful.
This hotel in Micklefield is midway between York and Leeds, fifteen minutes by train from both. I had to visit both, so chose it because it was less than £45 a night. Much cheaper than York. And it was great. I loved the clean, spacious room. And breakfast and dinner in the Windmill restaurant were first class. A very good kitchen, and helpful friendly staff. Great value.
I've been multiple times to the Watermill Restaurant, and am always amazed by the food, service and just the general atmosphere. Upon my last visit, I was extremely satisfied with my visit, I believe this to be because of the new management staff and outstanding new menu. Will defiantly be recommending to my friends, you won't be disappointed!
We had been invited to a 50th birthday party and needed somewhere to stay over night before we went on to Ireland. This hotel was close enough and so we decided to go there. We were pleased with our room and also with the reception and breakfast waiting staff. Our room was well furnished and we would stay there again if in the area.
An excellent stay. Lovely staff and very reasonably priced given the quality of the room. If you are looking for a business trip/quiet few night away, you couldn't find a better place. I even extended my stay by an extra night!
We stayed here when spending a weekend in Leeds to take the Emmerdale tours. It was about half an hour drive to the studio & about the same to the coach pick up location for the outdoor tour. We could have stayed closer but it would have been more expensive & a lot noisier. We were glad we took this option. It's on the main road but there is very little noise & we slept well. Every member of staff we met was warm & friendly. We ate dinner in the restaurant for 3 nights & the food was consistently excellent. We didn't have the breakfast. The room was well equipped (including a safe) & very comfortable. There was air con & also underfloor heating in the bathroom, which was a decent size with a full bath & overhead shower. No complaints at all. Very good value.
Very clean comfortable and reasonably priced hotel with friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast was very good everything was cooked fresh and plenty of it. The room was comfortable and very clean. Plenty of free parking.
Stayed in this hotel for around 5/6 weeks. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food was always delicious and very well presented! I stayed in 4 different rooms and they where all perfect, spotless, spacious and the aircon was a god send when we had the freak heat weather. I would recommend this hotel to fellow workers and family/friends.
The room was ok, though not dissimilar to a room at any Premier Inn - and similarly lacking in storage space. The hotel literature in the room stated that bath robes and foam pillows were available on request. When I phoned Reception to ask for robes, I was told that it only applied to Executive Rooms. After a night on appalling pillows, I rang again to ask for foam ones - only to be told that there were no such things that could be requested as extra... We've only ever stayed in a dog-friendly BW once, and for the nominal extra price we paid, we got a huge room, and a Doggy Welcome Bag, with treats, poo bags and a map of dog-friendly walks in the area. Nothing here - not even a smile at our extremely well-behaved canine. Breakfast was lovely, though service was functional, and really quite curt. And as the continental buffet was depleted, we noted that nothing seemed to be topped up. The award for warmth and service goes to the lovely bunch of cleaning ladies, who were the only ones who made us feel genuinely welcome. We wouldn't bother returning to this hotel, if we were in the area again.
The room was very good value for money, The rooms were comfortable, modern and welcoming and immaculately clean! The restaurant and bar are modern and welcoming and the staff were professional and polite. A credit to the Best Western Group! The only minor observation was that the breakfast was quite pricey (around £13) It would have been nice to have the option of a cooked breakfast only at a lower price (I.e. no continental) for guests with a smaller appetite, but there was a good choice of cooked breakfast items and you could choose from a list to make up your preferred breakfast which was nice. (Breakfast was lovely!) Overall we were very happy and would definitely stay again if in the area. Would recommend.
Arrived at hotel to an excellent and helpful reception. Dog friendly. Comfortable room with plenty of space. Could do with more drawer space for storage. Had meal in restaurant tasty salad. Meal well presented at a reasonable price. Service again was excellent.
Very enjoyable stay. Excellent dinner and breakfast, staff all very helpful. Room was handily located on the ground floor and the bathroom was newly fitted and very stylish. The room was very clean and had good tea and coffee making facilities, plus we had a safe. Would definitely recommend here.
This small hotel has the recipe to give guests an excellent stay ,consistently . We have used it for stays to break journeys and for family events needing to be held in the area . Although it's immediate environs are not scenic do not let this put you off..It is quiet and so close to so much of interest . Ledsham a lovely local village with quaint pub and Fairburn Ings great for a walk . Leeds and York easy to get to and train station in next village .
Lovely Comfy bed and bathroom. Nice toiletries. Good breakfast, plenty of choice. Busy in restaurant in evening and had to book a table for evening meal. Would stay again if in the area. Staff helpful and friendly.
Didn't know what to expect after staying at Best Western's in the States but was so pleased with the room, cleanliness, friendly staff, helpfulness, wonderful breakfast, tv, hair dryers, underfloor heating, clean carpets, tea and coffee etc in rooms. Everything you need after a late arrival and early start. Well done everyone who made that happen. It's all in the detail....and I notice detail. Thank you.
I wanted to like this place, good deal and the room looked very impressive when we arrived. After a day out and about we decided to shower prior to going out for dinner. But the shower did not work. On way out I informed man at desk who assured me that he would sort it out that evening. Arriving back late, I checked and the shower was still not working but too late to do anything then. Breakfast the following morning was excellent, apart from the milk we had been served for tea was sour. Informed waitress who stated that they were aware of some milk being 'off'. Could not understand what they were serving it!! Ah well, booked out and asked the man at the desk why the shower was still not working; he was the man who I had informed the previous evening. "I forgot" he said, "but I will get on with it now". Bit late, I thought ......
Easy access on business trips, relaxing rooms and comfortable beds.Good food also! Not alot to do round this area,so a gym and a swimming pool would make this the perfect location. But sometimes can't have it all so enjoy you stay!!
Came for family gathering for a 50th. Good location for train for day trip into beautiful York then back for local party. Clean and comfortable, good value for money. Very helpful breakfast staff when we were rushing in the morning.
Very happy to use this hotel. In fact its the 3rd time we have when visiting relatives in the Selby area. There's also easy access to York. Good food both in the evening and breakfast . Would definitely use again if in the area
Really lovely hotel, good facilities and friendly helpful staff. Food good quality both breakfast and evening meals. Well worth every penny. Will definitely stay again when travelling in Yorkshire. Rooms very good with comfortable beds.
We stayed Friday and Saturday last weekend whilst visiting family in nearby Aberford. What a pleasant hotel, the room was comfortable and very clean. The breakfast was great and thestaff were extremely welcoming and friendly. We also ate in the restaurant in the evening, the meal was delicious, no complaints whatsoever. We will definitely be coming back, what a great place to stay!
Great hotel, with pleasant facilities, great breakfasts, etc. Only negative would be its a bit out of the way, so haven't found any other places (restaurants, bars, etc) within an easy walking distance. But hotel bar is fine for a couple of evenings.
Last minute booking, comfortable hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Easily accessible, good road link. Food good, plenty of choice at the right price. On the downside the rooms get very hot, and the air con can be quite noisy.
We found ourselves tagging along with a group of local friends who recommended the Milford as a nice place to stay overnight as we wanted to have a few drinks and catch up with them. We can honestly say we enjoyed the night and had a comfortable stay
Stopped off at this Hotel for an overnight stay on our way back from Scotland. There were 25 in our party. Very impressed! A lovely modern hotel well furnished and excellent facilities. Marian and her team were very efficient and attentive. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant. Everything was fresh and locally sourced.
Last minute I had to stop over on my way up north. I found this hotel just outside Leeds and if I was in the area again I would definitely stay again. There isn't much around the immediate area that I could see but the hotel had great food, nice staff and a very cool air conditioned room. Spot on!!!
Used hotel for an overnight stop. Great location just off the motorway. Staff at reception very helpful. Enjoyed evening meal, at a reasonable cost, and great choice at breakfast. Staff here were excellent.
We have stayed at this hotel 3 or 4 times before and keep coming back when we travel north. The staff are always very helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable. We alway travel with our small dog. Walking the dog is somewhat limited to the grassed area just outside the hotel, parallel to the dual carriageway. This can be very noisy and a little boring for all concerned. This is not the hotel's fault!
very friendly staff who were helpful and attentive, nice menu which was not over priced and the breakfast had a good choice and was freshly cooked which I prefer.I no tend to use best western as they seem to offer a better standard of accommodation for the same cost as a premier inn but also give rewards for frequent stays which is nice when you use overnight stays on a regular basis.
The Milford Hotel is excellent value for money. The service could not be faulted and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was of a very high standard, very clean and with all the amenities we needed for an overnight stay. I loved the under floor heating in the bathroom - very cosy! Although close to main roads, there was no noise and we both slept well in the very comfortable beds. We both had the cooked breakfast which was delicious. I would definitely stay here again; it is very conveniently located near to a junction with the A1 so is very handy for an overnight stop off or for sight seeing in the local area.
Nice property. Stayed here because York was nearby. Nice restaurant with better food than expected. Nice property. A little hard for the gps to find, but that was our only complaint Very nice staff at front dest
Very good location for our business needs. Reception staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was a good size, comfortable and clean. The tea and coffee in the rooms is very appreciated as many hotels have now stopped offering this service.
Stayed one night in the accessible room. Huge walk in shower area which was very clean and looked very new. Breakfast was excellent with a huge choice. Had a meal in the restaurant at night. Again, good choice and food of an excellent standard. Great base to explore York and Leeds.
We used an afternoon tea for 2 voucher from Groupon. Spacious car park at the side of the old (and deserted) A1. Friendly greeting and pointed to our reserved table whilst asking what we wanted to drink. Service was immediate- as soon as we sat down our food arrived! Big plate of sandwiches comprising ham, cucumber, tuna, cheese and tomato. Large pot of tea for two. Cream eclair, fruit cake and scone with jam and cream. Very friendly staff. Lovely decor and ambience. A lot of people in having afternoon tea which is normally priced at £10.50 each. Clean and spacious toilets with pleasant decor. Very good value. Highly recommend.
I trusted previous reviews and wasn't disappointed. I stayed for one night on business and although it's just off the main road, it's pretty convenient. My double room was well appointed - lovely bed, great bathroom, perfect wifi, large and clean - everything i'd want. The Watermill food for dinner was delicious and the breakfast was excellent as well. Can't fault this hotel and if i'm ever needing to stay south of Leeds again, i'll definitely stay here.
We found this deal at the last minute as we were looking for somewhere to go. Having been to the BW+ here before, we were pretty confident it would offer what we wanted. There was a deal for free breakfast across the wider chain which wasn't available here, but nonetheless we found a good deal by searching around. The rooms are very tidy and looked after and the hotel well presented. We had a queen bed room which also had a corner sofa, so ideal for relaxing after a days travelling around. That also is a real positive, this hotel; is well situated to allow excursions across the Yorkshire countryside, from York to Harrogate or the Dales, and within easy reach of the coast for Scarborough or Whitby. We had a B&B deal, but could have used the Watermill Restaurant which has always been good before. The fact that there are so many places nearby means you tend to go out rather than stay within the same confines, but would not be disappointed. We did have a drink in the bar and were a little surprised by the prices in comparison to the other options locally. The staff were fantastic, although you could tell they were a little thinner on the ground than previously. There were 2 coach parties there across the weekend and were in full swing each morning around 7:30, so we could have been in for a right bun-fight. However the staff were keen to make sure that all guests were treated fairly and we couldn't thank them enough for their attentiveness during breakfast, meaning we were able to get on with our day. If this hotel was able to have more of an outside area or even a pool it would be epic, but even so it is still a really great place and we will definitely go back. The overall experience makes this worth a second look and you wouldn't be disappointed.
Myself and my other half stayed here as we were attending a wedding locally. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival. The room was lovely! I work in the hotel industry myself and would highly recommend staying here. The only downside was housekeeping having a fairly loud conversation outside our room at 9am, which wasn't ideal after a heavy and late night.
I have stopped at this hotel a fair few times over the past 3 years for business and I have always had a great experience! Easy to find and just of the A1 with plenty of free parking. Upon arrival I have only ever been greeted by professional but perfectly friendly staff willing to engage in a chat and offer a sweet! The rooms are clean and a good size with nice comfy beds, the bathrooms are always lovely and warm and the speaker in the bathroom connected to the TV is a nice touch. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere to it, again with friendly professional staff. A great range of items on the menu and very delicious, prices are perfectly reasonable too. The breakfast is also delicious, the ability to have smoked salmon and poached eggs as opposed to just the usual fry up is a big plus point for me too. Hard to find anything bad to say about this hotel really, hence the 5* I have given it. I will be back!
It almost seems unfair to give a score of 4 out of 5, but the place is very good. There was a friendly welcome at reception, the room was perfectly fine and for the area the price is good. We didn't have breakfast but I would expect that to be very good as well. Throroughly recommended if you are in the area and do not want to spend the extra to stay in one of the local towns or cities.
Perfect accomodation for my elderly mother with facilities ideally suited, lovely room, comfortable beds, wetroom with easy access and mobility aids, compimentary tea/coffee and a resturant if one decides to eat at the hotel morning, noon or night. Highly recommended and in a very good location with good road networks for the area or beyond.
Evening meal was amazing & staff so helpful - will be staying there on our return trip we were very happy that the hotel was pet friendly and quiet And the breakfast was also very good lots to choose from
The rooms are all spotless and well appointed. The staff are always friendly and very helpful. Excellent range and quality of food in the restaurant and for breakfast.i cannot fault it at all. A good benchmark to judge other hotels by.
This is a really special family run hotel, the staff are good and the rooms are immaculate. The hotel is situated not far from the M1 and local buses to Leeds and Selby go from outside No 403 £5.60 return. Well with a visit.
We really recommend this hotel, we have stayed three or four times over the years and have always had a great stay, Lovely comfortable beds beautiful rooms and great restaurant what more did i need. As always cant wait to come back
I booked for myself and a colleague, always a gamble booking for someone else, as we drove off the roundabout we saw what looked like a very run down old hospital, and my heart sank, looking at the sat nav however we realised the very decent looking building half mile down the road was in fact where we were staying. Exceptionally attentive staff and great reception and service. Add this to good all round food and bar service and its great. The other bonus was this place is spotless, not a a mark in sight nothing at all rooms were excellent and very clean, the underfloor heated bathroom was 1st class We will be using this hotel again.
Comfortable hotel with no frills but with everything you need for a base for visiting Leeds and York. It's by a dual carriageway ( not the A1/M) but is completely quiet. The staff offer a warm welcome and a genuine interest in your welfare. The room was modern and very clean.
Stayed here for three nights, its staff are eally friendly and helpful. Breakfast and evening meal great. Rooms are functional, clean and comfortable. Easy access to all areas. Would be happy to stay again.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel which is an good spot for the motorways and within easy reach of many places such as York and Leeds. It made a good base for our trip. The rates were very reasonable with 3 course dinner, half board included and a decent choice on the menu. The only disappointing part was some of the food wasn't as good as others and the chicken didn't look properly cooked. The staff were exceptional and very helpful making it a place we'd definitely stay again.
This is the second time in a month that I have stayed at the The Best Western Plus Milford Hotel. It is spotlessly clean throughout even the bathrooms. The beds are lovely and comfortable, perfect for that good night's sleep. The staff are very welcoming and friendly in that true northern style and helpful with any issues you might have. I have tried the breakfast menu and the evening menu and was very pleased with both. Will stay here again that is for sure.
Have used this hotel before and will use it again. It is just a nice place to stay. It is a great location for me to visit my mother who lives quite close. It is also very convenient for getting to the A1 and is not to far from Leeds if you want to venture into the city centre.
This is the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed at and a credit to the behind the scene staff. Rooms very quiet and no road noise at all. Stayed her in March and April and would stay again. Staff very friendly and guests seemed to mingle with one another, and considerate regarding noise when going to their rooms. Great that they also allow pets and able to walk them o/s for their constitutionals. Breakfast worth the money and plenty of choice. Restaurant food ok. I am ultra picky so will not nit pick. Location good for visiting nearby places. Rooms very well priced for all you get . If you can get a bargain 1/2 board deal, go for it as it is good value.
Another enjoyable stay at this hotel. All good.. good value for money. Just one small comment regarding breakfast. The butter was awful. Just a small thing everything else was the usual high standard.
Couldn't fault anything, brilliant accomiadation rewarded by friendly staff everyone made us welcome and a relaxing weekend break. Breakfast was fantastic, good choice of menu and restaurant staff very helpful and made us feel at home. Evening meal great selection couldn't fault quality and service.
We like staying here. Pleasant and helpful staff, attractive surroundings, good food, varied Menu, great breakfast. Clean nice rooms.we regularly stay here. Plenty of parking, reasonable prices. Bright rooms and lounges.
This is quite a tricky review to make as we only used the hotel as a base to sleep due to bringing our dog with us .Although pet friendly ,dogs are only allowed in the bedroom and to walk in and out of the building, so its been a very restricted visit .I will list pros and cons . PROS- Dogs allowed in rooms Clean and tidy hotel Great shower On site parking King size bed Toiletry basics Conns- Chaotic check in and check out - took far to long and was over charged . Basic bar, limited choices of drinks , no bar snacks sold . Dogs not allowed in communal seating area . Restaurant menu poor . Hotel location close to a county council waste depot ,smelly!! No outdoor grounds other than a car park . Car park very littered . No hand wash in bathroom . If you can get a good value rate its worth a stay but location is not ideal .
Room was spotless, triple glazed so very quiet, air conditioning was adjustable with clear instructions, comfortable bed. All staff were helpful both in the bar/restaurant and reception. Food was of a good standard and not badly priced, breakfast was excellent plenty of variety and particularly liked the proper honeycomb from which you can scrape your own honey. Minor gripe was couldn't get the Wifi to work but also I didn't try very hard and didn't ask either.
Little gem of a place my husband payed for upgrade and was still only £60 for the night comfy bed nice big bath food in the restaurant was gorgeous for the price 3 courses for £15 was wow would definitely stay again easy to get to Leeds and York
Excellent location for shopping at Leeds or York design outlets and Christmas markets. Also as some of my family live in Yorkshire it was fantastic to meet up with all of them to have a Christmas Party at the hotel and a real good time.
I booked this hotel just for one night's stay for myself and my family. Great interconnecting rooms, nice hotel, clean and quiet, barely any noise even though it's next to a busy road, great sound proofing. Very tasty breakfast, lovely service.
We had booked this about 6 months ago for a memorial dinner and stay. There were 14 of us. Late on two ducked out but the staff were fine about it all. We had the small function room to ourselves for the evening meal which all said was really good value. The Hotel was clean and tidy including the lobby area. The bedrooms were all really good and worth the money. In fact they looked as if newly re-furbed. The beds were very comfy. The staff really looked after our needs. Drinks were a bit expensive as per most Hotels. We were able to join in the disco. We all said we will try to do the same there next year. Ellie the member of staff who looked after our booking was great. Thank you all there.
Me and my wife had a great nights stay here after a Xmass party night held there. Everything was good room, food and staff cannot fault. Very clean room and hotel, this was a good experience. We would stay here again.
Without realising this was my 2nd stay in this hotel as I had visited here with work back in 2011/12. This was a social visit with my husband and dog. Good price on hotel via booking.com. Hotel did phone to say there was a christmas party that night and restaurant would be closed. Advance notice was appreciated. As it was, when we arrived the restaurant was open so we had a tasty and reasonable evening meal. Room very comfortable and warm. There was no noise at all from the party so we slept well in the huge bed! Agree with other reviewers on location but a nice dog friendly hotel so that suited us. We ate breakfast in Wetherby as had booked room only and thought £13 each for breakfast was a bit steep.
Very clean room and hotel, this was a good experience. The only issue was that at the time of booking I informed them that my partner was Gluten Free, the level of choice at breakfast was not what we expected it to be and like so many hotels made to feel a little of an inconvenience. That said it was of a good standard and we would stay again.
Even though the hotel is in the country, it is just of the motorway and is ideal for getting into Leeds or York which is what we did, We got the park and ride to York and had a lovely day visiting the minster.
Stayed a couple of times now. Situated on the A1 not that you would know it though as the rooms seem to be very well insulated, hardly any noise at all. Very warm and friendly welcome from reception to bar to breakfast. Rooms are clean, comfortable and well equipped. Nice heated floor in the bathrooms. Air con and ventilation is really good. Great pint of "Black Sheep" nice food, good portions and reasonable prices. Continental breakfast had a good selection and cooked breakfast is to order.
Stayed a few times here. Lovely hotel/room and often cheap if booked in advance as its about 10miles outside Leeds. Never eaten here so can't comment. Took parents and they said it was one of the nicest rooms they have stayed in.
Very clean room comfortable bed would visit again.Staff very friendly and helpful.Within easy reach of Leeds and surrounds. One small problem there are stairs to the upper floor and no lift installed. With knee problems stairs difficult to manage but staff were able to change our room to the ground floor.
This hotel is very nice always clean, warm and friendly, the meals are very good. One of the best hotels in the area. The only down side is that the hotel is not near anything in the area. For my self no problem as I'm always on business
We have visited many times and not been disappointed. This time the food was poor, not good value for money. Rib eye steak was so tough it was inedible. Such a shame as the service is very good ...may take us a while before we go again
Would strongly recommend, my breakfast was the best I've had at any best western. Staff 1st class & really clean & great value for money. This is the 1st time I've stayed at the hotel and would highly recommend to anybody. Looking forward to coming back soon.
Excellent hotel our second time here. Staff friendly and food amazing. Ideal for exploring leeds and the surrounding area. the armouries in leeds is a must for anyone. Plenty of shopping restaurants and museums in leeds something for everyone.
Booked this hotel at last minute (Literally driving up the motorway!!!) on the way to a job. Was a good price and didn't look at all the reviews. Its situated in a quiet area just of the motorway, so you know you will have a peaceful night. Greeted by the receptionist, she was polite, helpful and answered any questions we had. The hotel was really clean, nothing out of place. The room was really nice and cosy. Was really big for the 2 of us and was warm!!! The bed was comfortable and we didn't want to get out!!! Definitely worth the money and would stop there again when/ if we are working up that way.
Could not fault anything, staff very helpful and friendly. The room was comfy, loved the underfloor heating in the bathroom. Evening meal was served quickly and was piping hot, there were 39 people there. Breakfast was excellent also. We don't stay in hotels very often in this country but would definitely stay here again or another Best Western if they are all up to this standard.
Everything you need and want at a good price. Rooms are clean and tidy with all the things you need to make your stay pleasant. Always plenty of hot water and fresh towels with housekeeping everyday to make your return to your room great like the first time you walked in.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Our dog was as welcome as we were, which was very nice. Comfy and spacious room.facilities good. Very helpful to be able to use the rear exit for doggy toilet visits in the night.
As good if not better than last year. nothing too much trouble. The room set out to accomate us just perfect. Food and sevice could not be faulted. Nobody left more than a scrap on ech plate compliments to the chef and all his crew.
Room was warm, absolutely spotless and the staff were great. Food was very good, especially the breakfast, with a huge choice. We stayed for two nights and could not fault the place. Even though our room was on the main road side we did not hear traffic and the blackout curtains did their job very well. We were in a party of 40 plus for a reunion and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Service was exceptional throughout and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Very good hotel for an overnight stay close to the A1 but local area is not very attractive. Excellent breakfast, rooms very modern and comfortable, with air conditioning. Public areas small but well presented.
This hotel is friendly and have excellant staff including an excellant restaurant. It is in a particular useful location handy for the A1(M) Leeds, Selby, York , Doncaster etc. They are also dog friendly although there is no walking facility on site.
The hotel was ideally situated, easy access, and plenty of parking, a good breakfast, and clean comfortable rooms, but bring your own flannels, they are not provided, and no note pads or pens. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Very friendly hotel, perfect for business stays etc. The rooms are of a very high standard. Wifi is good throughout the hotel. The restaurant serves a comprehensive menu, much of which is locally sourced and excellently cooked. I will be staying again.
Ideally placed between Leeds and York this randomly located hotel looks nothing special from the outside. The money has obviously been spent inside, with modern bathrooms (heated floor), very comfy beds and clean fresh decor. There is a train station within a mile (free parking) which will get you to either city easily. Really pleased with the calibre of the welcome. Food looked good (didn't eat here though) although limited veggie options. One negative was the southern pub prices in a northern hotel. £4:50 a pint, really? But that's a minor quibble - the hotel is refreshingly good. Soundproofed rooms meant one of the best nights sleep in a long time. It's an ideal base for exploring this fantastic part of the world. Like a pair of favourite shoes: feels great, makes you smile and you keep coming back to them!
The rooms are very comfortable and the food is really great but could do with some more light options. I am there two to three times a month so I must like it. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I cannot complain about anything, if you are traveling and you need a good nights sleep at a reasonable price then do not drive past this hotel.
I have stayed several times through work. The beds are comfortable, the rooms and bathrooms are clean. Staff are polite and helpful. I usually get room service for dinner which is ok and there is a good choice for breakfasts.
Excellent facilities, spotlessly clean, friendly staff and great value for money. Great kick off point for exploring Leeds, Wakefield and surrounding areas of Yorkshire. Highly recommended place to stay.
This Great Western plus Hotel Never Fails !! This hotel is the best we can report ! For Business or pleasure its a 5 Star Venue ! The Hotel is situated very conveniently for Leeds, York ,Wetherby, Harrogate and surrounding areas Its wecome on reception is second to none. The rooms are very nice indeed and the beds so comfortable the pillows are hush ! The dining room is understated but with great taste. The food and service is excellent and there is a superb lounge menu for casual dining. Room service is terrific and an expansive menu. The people working here really take care of you and Phillip the manager needs a special mention. Also the in house ladies housekeeping and cleanliness second to none.! Thankyou all for another very loveley visit Paula Palfreyman Spain.
We stayed here for three nights for our anniversary. Firstly my husband ordered Flowers, wine and Chocolates for the room as a surprise. Corinne organised these for him and what a surprise… they were absolutely magnificent. Thank you Corinne, sorry we did not get to meet you, maybe next time. All the staff at the hotel were both professional and friendly and could not do enough for you and any request was dealt with straight away. A special mention to Tara on reception for looking after us so well. Also I must mention Mel and her team of cleaners who made our room look like new each day. We have stayed all over the world in 5 star establishments and must say the treatment received here would certainly be 5 stars. I am not generally a fan of Hotel food but after eating here on two out of three nights I would certainly recommend it. The chef obviously takes great pride in his creations. Whitby crab, seabream, prawns and delicious roast on Sunday. Restaurant staff very professional. Location, the hotel is a little isolated, but we chose it because it was approximately 30 minutes by car to visit York and Harrogate (went to the Food Festivals great) and about 20 minutes to Leeds (went to the Armouries and Watermill, only working one in the UK, great)
As a small budget business hotel this ticks most of the boxes. Rooms are traditional but well presented. The restaurant is nice but expensive and the breakfasts substantial. However it's a bit isolated and the restaurant takes most of the bar space and was very busy and noisy. Only one failing for me and that was the beds were very very very soft. Not great for my back or for a good nights sleep but that might just be me.
Visited here as a promotional stay from Citroen and was a lovely hotel however was very outdated. We were situated in a room at the back overlooking a field so the view was very good at all but all in all for free how can I complain. At most however this hotel is £30-£40 a night maximum. Not my idea of a Best Western Plus
Food in the restaurant was good - cooked breakfast is freshly prepared and dinner was tasty. We ate there two nights in a row - pies were decent and the Navarin of land was also good. The rooms are clean and more like a hotel than a travelodge or premier inn.
We picked this hotel because they accepted the two dogs we have and this made a good base for all the places we were going to visit plus a short train ride into York from the close by station was a bonus saving us the car parking hassle the evening restaurant menu was good and the room was of a decent size their was a good walk near by for the dogs which was difficult to find but nice
I stayed at this hotel on 17th September , for one night on the way to Oban , The hotel was very well maintained . The bedroom was well appointed , the bath had a shower over it . There was a wedding reception going on when we arrived, we could not use the dining room because of the wedding party. The staff found us a conference room for our evening meal, they where very attentive , and nothing was to much trouble. The food was good . We did not hear any noise from the wedding party after retiring to our rooms ,
The hotel is alright. The room as a reasonable space. It is clean. Beddings are fresh. Staff is okey. The price is reasonable. The room has a view of an empty field and wasteground. Would recommend it.
Excellent service both prior to ( a call advising of a wedding party closing restaurant/bar facilities but offering full service to room) and during stay. Quality of rooms, staff and environment far better than the expectation given room rate.
We stayed here 2 nights as guests at a wedding. We booked executive rooms which are slightly larger I believe. Check in was swift & pleasant, in fact I commented that all check ins should be that quick. Unfortunately it became apparent the next day when we couldn't get into our room that we'd only been checked in for 1 night! However a quick trip back to reception & it was resolved quickly & with an apology. The rooms are well appointed, with nice furnishings, an in-room safe, tea, coffee etc & the bathrooms are modern & clean. Throughout the hotel, any employee we encountered were friendly & helpful. We eat there on the Friday evening & the food was really good, served nice & hot & everyone was served together. Breakfast both days was equally as good, as indeed was the food at the wedding. Breakfast was included in our rate but to purchase was £12-95 each which I'd say was a little expensive for what it was. The only reason I give it a 3 is because there are no additional features, such as a pool or even a garden area & there really is NOTHING nearby the hotel, ie within walking distance. Although Leeds & all that offers is only a 15/20 minute drive away. It is also, literally, just off the duel carriage way & traffic noise is noticeable. Would I stay again if in the area? For a wedding there, yes, for a visit to Leeds, no.
I didn't realise the hotel was on the main road so when I first pulled up I was a little concerned that it would be very noisy but was pleasantly surprised as my room was fairly quiet. The staff were friendly and there is a nice bar/restaurant on site. The food was good, generous portions and reasonably priced. There's plenty of parking and the WiFi was excellent. I would stay here again.
Lovely little hotel - clean, cosy. the staff are very professional and friendly, the breakfast was a sight to behold, so much to choose from and fresh- thanks for the massive Yorkshire hospitality - we will stay again
I have stayed at the hotel a number of times now, and will certainly return. It's handily situated near the A1, and a good stop-off place when travelling north or south. Rooms are really nice, staff friendly, bar area pleasant. Probably the only slight thing I would be critical of is the fact that rooms have no opening windows, and you have to rely on air-conditioning - I always struggle to achieve the right temperature....but that aside, always enjoy a stay here.
I initially had difficulty finding the place, as there were no clear directions on the Best Western booking confirmation email and the address was inadequate - I found myself first of all at a similarly-named hotel on the same road about half a mile away, where the receptionist cheerfully explained that it "happens all the time". It's actually very easy to find, once you know, being on the route of the old A1 before the A1M was built. Peckfield isn't really a place, and don't be fooled into thinking it's in Leeds either - it's not! My rooms was small but comfortable, and with air conditioning so I could close the window and completely exclude traffic noise, so quiet too. The morning was a marred by some problem in the kitchen which meant that cooked breakfast was off on the day of my stay, and although the continental was adequate, it might have been nicer if I had been offered some kind of refund on the pre-paid B&B. Probably very nice if everything had fallen into place, and I'd give it a second chance and I'm happy to rate it as "very good".
We stayed in room 33 which was ideal for us, being at the top of the stairs and no long corridor to walk down as on our previous stay. Although we were over reception we were not aware of traffic noise from what is a busy road. This hotel is very well situated for our visit to family and also very close to Leeds.
Very comfortable room. Staff very helpful and polite. Dinner and breakfast was very good. I have stayed at a Best Western Hotel before and this hotel the lived up to the usual high standards set by Best Western.
I would highly recommend this hotel if on business, rooms are spacious clean and very comfortable. The food was also to a high standard, lunch menus was very reasonable and great value for money. Breakfast is continental or full English with additional choice of poached, scrambled or fried egg on toast with plenty of fruit juices and coffee and tea. Staff were extremely helpful and very courteous. Highly recommended
Had a great stay, arrived quite late but luckily restaurant still open. Great food and service, nothing too much trouble! Our room was quiet and comfortable and breakfast the next morning lovely. Would stay here again without doubt if I was in the area.
Such a lovely hotel, the staff were efficient and so helpful and the breakfasts were amazing. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet with a lovely bathroom. Our meal in The Watermill restaurant was one of the best we've had so can't wait to visit the area again
Stayed with a friend when attending a festival near by. Staff very helpful with quick service. Iron and board appeared within minutes of asking and our milk was even placed in a wine bucket with ice. Room was clean and tidy with plenty of room. Bathroom was a good size, clean and the underfloor heating was nice.
Stayed on a business trip. The rooms are very clean, quiet and comfortable. The hotel lacks on any sports facilities, though. It could do with a gym or an indoors swimming pool. Good quality food served in the restaurant as part of their evening meals. Breakfast is very good quality and abundant too. I will be back if need a hotel in the area.
I enjoyed my stay here but will stay nearer to Leeds in a Premier Inn on my next business trip. I didn't think the difference between Best Western and a Premier Inn justified the price difference. Enjoyed having a bath and toiletries however.
This hotel is so convenient for us being on the edge of the A1 for travelling home. We visit family regularly and always make a point of booking this hotel. The staff on the desk are always very pleasant and checking in is very easy.
stayed I a lot of best westons this one rates one of the best for a short stay. My only concern is you are unable to open a window as all the rooms have air con.OK if you like that but I prefer fresh air!!
We stayed for two days and could not fault the staff, room and food. We have stayed in a number of Hotels in the Leeds area and found the Milford Hotel to be far superior than the others and a bonus it was the cheapest.
Nice clean room. Good facilities. Friendly welcoming staff. Very nice breakfast. Good selection of breakfast cereal or full cooked English breakfast with all the trimmings. Fast and efficient and hot.
Me and my wife stayed here as we were attending Leeds festival. Check in was nice and easy and they even let us into our room early as we had called beforehand asking for early check in. We went and had food in the restaurant that's adjoined to the hotel, we only had food from the lunch menu, but what we did have was very nice and good value for money. The hotel is well situated just off the A1 and easy to locate. Rooms were clean, comfortable and we had no issues with noise, we had a great night sleep. We particularly liked the fact that a gentleman was stood outside after we made it home from the festival providing bin bags to put our wellies in.
Stayed in an Executive Family room mid-week. Nice room, plenty of space, big bathroom (A large heated mirror! A misty mirror is a real bugbear of mine after getting out of the shower normally). Single bed made up out of large settee for our son which looks as though it could easily make a double. Plenty of towels and even Dressing gowns for all 3 of us. Room was very clean and although it appears that all the rooms front onto the main road approximately 30 yards or so away , we heard no traffic noise and no need to try and open the windows (as they don't open) as the room had great air conditioning. There is also a small fridge. The hotel also has a well rated restaurant the Watermill Restaurant and Bar, which is a good place to meet up with friends for a chat and a drink.
Really nice comfortable bed, good continental and full English breakfast included in our B&B rate. Not walking distance to anything so make sure you drive. Friendly staff. Stayed for Leeds festival weekend, was a good distance from the festival.
Have to say that we enjoyed our stay at best western, all the staff were friendly and curious. The room was clean and well presented, the food was plentiful and excellent. My partner has a medical condition and best western catered for her immediately and that I cannot fault. I will be sure to recommend this hotel to any and all our friends and will surely stay there again, I'm very impressed and well worth the money spent.
We stayed at this hotel whilst attending Leeds Festival. Hotel is nice and quiet in room dispite been close to the road and reception area. Good sized room with a comfortable bed, shower was good and fairly new bathroom it seemed. In a handy location, 30min drive from York and close to Leeds. Also convenient if you are attending Leeds festival but want a nice place to stay apposed to a muddy crowded campsite! Would recommend
Helpful staff, modern good-sized well-equipped comfortable rooms, breakfasts and dinner excellent (one curious course). Very dog friendly, but only allowed in room. Very convenient near A1(M) and close to Leeds.
Super clean rooms and bathrooms both well appointed. Excellent restaurant with very good simple food and great serving staff.Bonus - rooms has good wifi. Good buffet selection at breakfast with additional cooked very good breakfast.
I have stayed several times, and have always been grateful for the friendliness and helpfulness of staff, the comfort & cleanliness of the rooms, and the good food. I was travelling with a disabled friend, and the en suite provision she found helpful and well designed; she also found staff thoughtful and helpful..
Staff lovely! Food in restaurant amazing! Had such a good night sleep and didn't hear a bit of traffic from the road and the bed was the comfiest bed we've ever slept on! Had the bar menu and both hand burgers which were amazing and very filling! Would recommend here to anyone
This was an excellent two night stay, both the room and food were of a very high standard. Breakfast was especially good. We ate in both nights, the burger was the best I have had for a long time. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Would stay again.
We were staying with a number of friends and family to attend a wedding. Excellent hotel, and the breakfast was very good. The staff were efficient and very friendly. Our room was spacious and the beds very comfortable with good quality bedding.
My husband and I ate in the waterwheel restaurant and had a superb meal. The staff were exceptionally helpful and pleasant and this made the meal all the more enjoyable. We were shown, at our request, a standard and de luxe room and were very impressed with the high quality of the furnishings and finish. We are looking forward to staying there.
The gentleman who checked us in (around 11 at night as well) was very friendly and it was very quick. The hotel and room were very clean and nicely decorated. The room was at the front of the hotel facing the road but you couldn't hear the cars even stood at the window, it was impressively quiet. Combined with the big curtains, you could sleep in all day and think it was night! Dogs are allowed and it was lovely to see dogs around the hotel.
We stayed for one night en route to Newcastle, and we could not find a fault with this lovely friendly hotel, the staff were brilliant and the rooms were perfect, especially the bathroom with heated floor. We also ate in the Watermill Restaurant which was spot on as well, and good value for money. We need more hotels like this??????????
Without exception, all the staff were considerate, extremely pleasant & very nice to chat to. Stayed in an Executive room which was really nice. Only negatives were an expensive restaurant & in-room internet which could be better. Will definitely stay here again when in the area.
I stayed 1 night in a standard double room. Pulling up I was rather concerned as it looks like a tired travelodge from the outside. But when you walk in the door you are greeted warmly and room allocation is quick. The room was very comfortable with everything you need for a good night's sleep. Very comfortable bed and air con was quiet. The bathroom is lovely with a large bath and gilgrist & somme toiletries. Only negative for me which was significant... bedroom windows do not open. As I said air con was great but I like fresh air during the night.
We booked the hotel as a stop off for our wedding anniversary as it was a half way point for us. We arrived at 9pm at night & straight away the very friendly receptionist asked if we would like a table booking for a meal. We opted for the lounge menu and were not disappointed!! I had the fish sandwich & my hubby had the club sandwich. They were delicious!! The waitress was very friendly & helpful & even chatted to us about our home town as she had recently visited. The hotel was immaculate, the beds were so big & comfy and the food/drink was perfect!! We would highly recommend this place to anyone!!!
Big room ,big comfy sprung bed, excellent bathroom with high shower over the bath ,plus a hand held one on a hose for hanging over the bath to wash your hair. Tea tray ,hair dryer ,3good mirrors including a full length one behind the clothes rail. Plenty of lighting in the right places. Good quality bedding and sheets with a decent duvet .Free wi-fi ,password in back of information booklet. Flat screen TV,enough electrical sockets for all tour
I have used this hotel before, it is very convenient for my needs. The rooms are very nice and very clean. I found the staff extremely helpful. There is plenty of parking and I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends
Only used for a stopover. Last time booked an independent, to try & support local business but it was dreadful, so this time went for a chain- what a difference! Spotless hotel, polite & efficient staff. Would definitely use again & happy to recommend.
We stayed here one night whilst visiting family nearby. The room was very comfortable with double bed, tea and coffee making facilities and two chairs. The bathroom was very modern with plenty of hot water. We had the full breakfast with a great choice. The food was hot and plenty of it. We would certainly stay here again
Not the best of Best Western Hotels we have staid in. The rooms were OK and clean, but the staff seemed a bit down (could have been a bit more cheerful). The hallway and stairs were full of mud from the minute we got there until we checked out. Have slept in better beds, not the most comfortable. Handy for the M1/A1.
We've stayed here before because the food is good, the rooms comfortable and the staff friendly. If you need a base to explore the area or an overnight stop heading north or south you will do well to find better value.
Called late in the evening and was given a fantastic room with a huge bed.All clean, comfortable and a credit to the Hotel owners and staff.Staff all very helpful and polite. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
This hotel was ideally situated for my work, the room had incredibly efficient double glazing and the quietest air con I have encountered. Both the room and bathroom were spacious with great facilities and amenities. The welcome and my departure were dealt with by smiley diligent staff - all this for £40 went way beyond my expectations, thank you Best Western Plus Milford Hotel!
A good stop off point on the way to Scotland and a short distance from the a1(m). A very peaceful nights sleep even though a1(m) traffic was being diverted past the hotel. We had a continental breakfast which was fine.
We travelled from Scotland down south and this was a half way point. Found it very easily as was off the A1M. The hotel had a coach load staying so when we arrived it looked busy enough which was a good sign. Staff were pleasant and courteous, room was very clean and of good proportions. The standard was what you would expect and they even had air conditioning which was a great asset as it was very warm. We tried to find somewhere cheaper to eat than the restaurant but there was nothing round about. We ended up in the restaurant which was very nice and had a good atmosphere.
First visit and we really enjoyed it. Very good value for money and far better than staying at an inner-city hotel. Although busy, we found the hotel quiet and relaxing. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the standard of food and drink well above average. Great breakfast. Room was well equipped, modern, very clean and tidy. Very happy to return.
Excellent Service and Room, good standard with food to match. I would definitely use again. The staff was more than willing to help with the luggage for some of the older people who were arriving by coach. Good hotel would recommend.
Excellent stay, staff friendly and extremely helpful .i would recommend anyone to stay..for a change the weather in Yorkshire was fantastic. Only needs a Spa. Leeds is 20minutes from hotel. A1 very close and an excellent break if traveling North.
I stayed here for one night with my wife and baby and was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the rooms, friendliness of the staff and the quality of the breakfast, all at a reasonable price. Check-in was smooth and hassle free, with the requested cot having already been set up in the room. Room was completely spotless, the heated bathroom floor was great and the bathtub comfortable and ergonomic. Breakfast was of surprisingly good standard (especially the bacon!) and the free wi-fi was easy to get access to and suitably fast for basic needs. Although facing a dual carriageway, we had no road noise at all (some very solid triple glazing). The only minor niggle was that low level noise did travel through the hotel - we heard lots of coughing, laughing and doors shutting. It should also be noted that your room choice is highly limited if you need a cot as they only allow them in their basic rooms.
Booked Christmas party for a family gathering and stayed overnight. Brilliant evening with lovely food and service. Our room was extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean in all areas. Very tasteful décor and furnishings. All staff very friendly and efficient. Would recommend this hotel for any occasion. Will definitely be back. Jane & Shaun you have fantastic staff you should be proud of them.
Stayed here for a two day break and I have to say we loved it, Everything from the room to food to staff were perfect, I think all the staff should be very proud of themselves, Keep up the good work, I will be visiting again soon.
We celebrated double birthdays, the meal was perfect. The service was splendid, the staff were welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was easy to find with plenty of car parking spaces.
Visited Leeds with the girlfriend for a short weekend away, so wanted to stay in an affordable hotel. Stayed in one of the Executive Rooms which was spacious, clean and fresh, everything you could ask for. The bathroom was spotless and very clean so we was pleased. Had no trouble using the WiFi, there was also a dvd player which we used and the TV was spot on. Room service was excellent, very quick and efficient, the food was delicious and it came piping hot. Breakfast was also beautiful, wide variety from continental to full English and more so variety was excellent. The staff were very professional, friendly and efficient which made the whole experience pleasant. Would definitely recommend to anyone if you're visiting the area, you won't be disappointed!
I joined a party for Christmas lunch - booked in advance and served in a private room [I believe this is available for parties over about 12] Superb food, very good service and no rush. If there is a criticism it would be that at popular times the parking is a bit tight - so arrive early!
We attended the Christmas party night for a family gathering and overnight stay. Nothing was too much trouble for all staff members we came into contact with. Good choice of menu and cooked to perfection. The rooms were spacious and spotless. We opted for the full English breakfast and were highly delighted. Many thanks to the waiter who provided a first class service when we informed him we were running on a tight schedule this morning. Much appreciated.
Visited Castleford for a business trip and selected this hotel. It's located just off the A1(m) so easy to find. Plenty of car parking and received a nice checkin. I'd selected a room with a queen size bed and the room was huge! Desk, sofa, very clean and tidy. Plus wifi - not hugely fast, but enough for email and FaceTime. The restaurant was popular with a good choice of tasty food (even if the pie special was wrong). Breakfast was just as good with very friendly staff. The shower was brilliant and the bed comfortable, so with good food it's a very worthy 5 out of 5 from me.
We used this as an overnight stop on our way up to Scotland and it was all we wanted. Clean, bright and airy rooms. Quiet location, near to the A1. Good restaurant - had a good meal and drinks when we arrived and a lovely breakfast before we left the following morning. Staff were friendly and efficient. Very good value for money. Free Parking and WiFi. Absolutely no complaints and would stay again.
Warm welcome at check in with friendly and efficient staff. Very comfortable and clean bedroom with seating area for two. Wide choice of Continental food and well cooked English breakfast. Realy good Hotel.
Our first stay in a Best Western, we usually use Premier Inn. Leeds traffic a nightmare so hotel was a great place to unwind. Thanks to the receptionist on our arrival for sorting out a misunderstanding. Well done. Nice immaculate hotel, great breakfast. A Christmas party was on that night but we still had a great night's sleep. We will definitely be using Best Western hotels again. Thanks.
What a lovely hotel, I suppose it being on the motorway we did not expect much, but it was just lovely, from the pleasant receptionist when we checked in, lovely room, very clean , comfy bed and pillows, very nice bathroom with large bath, and scrummy breakfast, what more could you ask for, Will be back if we are over that neck of the woods again. I would not class it as luxury, but certainly not budget, it was just right

Arrive late but made to feel very welcomed, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and as it was late we selected room service after travelling and being delayed by road works. Everything from the quality of the room to the breakfast in the morning was just perfect and we would like to pass our congratulations on to every member of staff who made us feel very special.
A Hotel that goes the extra mile to make you feel welcomed and makes for fell at home. the quality of the room standard and quality meals combined with very high level of service is a refreshing benefit.
Found the hotel rooms clean and the staff friendly. Though on a main road there is negligible traffic noise. Did not sample the food or facilities as this was a one night stop to visit York and Whitby. Would certainly stay there again if I need a hotel close to York with parking (about 30 minutes).
Chose pork filet wrapped in prosciuto. Looked very nice but when getting into the eating apparent it was becoming more and more salty almost to the point of being inedible. Advised restaurant server who informed supervisor and he was very dismissive claiming it to be our palates as many portion had been sold previously with no complaints. Poor customer service attitude. Was not impressed. Hotel itself is great Shame to be spoilt by attitude of a member of staff.
Had a nice stay here in November, it was bitterly cold outside but cosy inside. Two rooms, both immaculate with shower over a nice bath. TV, tea and coffee making facilities, safe etc. Bed very comfortable, triple glazed windows and the rooms were very quiet. Had an evening meal in the restaurant, 3 courses for £20 although a few items were extra, food was excellent. Breakfast was also very good although a bit expensive. All in all a very nice hotel.
Stayed here a few times now. Good location for Leeds Great hotel, excellent food both dinner and breakfast. Good Bar with a good selection of beers Staff always helpfull Great value for money, highly recommended.
This is a lovely hotel about 14 miles outside of Leeds. If you're travelling from the M1 it's less than 2 miles from J47. However, it's quite a trek from the City centre. There is plenty of free parking although a lot of spaces flood when its wet. It has a very nice and clean reception with very welcoming staff. I had asked for a quiet room and we were put on the 1st floor. The room was an excellent size with a king sized bed and a lovely bathroom. The room has a hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities and a safe. There are also 2 chairs and a side table. The bed was very comfortable with sparkling linen and 2 pillows each. One very firm and one soft. Although we didn't use the bar or restaurant the menu looked great and good prices. All in all an excellent hotel.
first of all this hotel is just off the great north road. its a bit out of the way with sherburn which is three and a half miles away, being the nearest village with shops, restaurants and other amenities. having said that, this hotel was one of the cleanest we have ever stayed at. the staff were very courteous, kind and considerate. they spoke to us every morning and always had a smile on their faces. each and everyone of them were a credit to the company. as it was our wedding anniversary they even sent us a card. I would like to say a big thank you for making our stay a pleasure.as I mentioned on inspecting our rooms which were absolutely perfect, we entered the bathroom where all chrome work gleamed, the floor, tiling and bath itself were the cleanest we have ever come across. the bed was a queen size and an absolute delight to sleep in. the restaurant was beautifully laid out and our first night meal was just heaven. we only dined there the one night as my wife and I are not big eaters and it was late for us, which was a shame, a meal could be purchased during the day up till 5oclock. having booked in for 4 nights we decided to dine out during the day rather than the evening. we visited Doncaster which is a large shopping centre and only 40 minutes by car using the park and ride facilities which was very good. the following day we visited York, again only 25 minutes drive, and the following day to leeds which is a vast shopping centre. again using the park and ride facilities. all in all we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would not hesitate to do so again. a sat nav would be very useful to have.
We enjoyed a very pleasant stay in this hotel last July 2014, so we were looking forward to a return visit. We had another lovely 2 nights stay. The staff are friendly and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was plentiful from the buffet or English breakfast cooked to order. Evening meals in the restaurant were delicious with a varied choice and specials. Leave room for dessert, they are very good. Thank you to all at the hotel for a great visit.
This hotel is like a home away from home. My first choice in a hotel when in Leeds. Quality of food and service is excellent. Very polite, friendly and professional staff. Prices were pretty good as well.
Fantastic staff the room and hotel were exceptionally clean would highly recommend this as a great place to stay breakfast was fantastic with a massive choice of fabulous food couldn't recommend highly enough
Great overnight stay. Located between Leeds & York and very comfortable. Great breakfast and Ben was very attentive in the restaurant. Would definitely recommend if you are happy to stay on the outskirts rather than the city centre.
Just spent a couple of nights at the Milford Hotel with family: our first visit there. I read all the positive reviews and wondered whether the place would live up to my expectations. Thankfully, it did. From the friendly welcome, we were delighted with our room. As we wanted to keep the family together, we were given one of the 'executive' rooms, which was spacious and full of unexpected little touches: heated bathroom floor, fridge, Bluetooth speaker, excellent complementary condiments. The dinner time menu was good value, for hotel prices, as was the price of the beer. The food choices were the same for each night, but there was a 'Specials' board and everyone in our party enjoyed their choices. The beds were comfortable and the soundproof rooms meant there was no noise whatsoever from the busy road outside. Finally, the hotel was easy to find and situated only a five minute drive to Micklefield Railway Station. From there, there is easy and regular access to Leeds city centre. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would definitely repeat our visit.
Close to the A1 so convenient for an overnight stop during our 400 mile journey. This is a modern beautifully kept hotel with excellent furnishing and fittings. We arrived late on a cold foggy night, we were welcomed and after a very quick check in went to our "Wow " room. Large double bed, desk, vanity unit and equivalent of two couches to rest on. There is well thought out lighting and blackout curtains to keep out the misty night. Lovely bathroom with both fixed and moveable shower heads, usual tea and coffee facilities, with biscuits a large Sony TV. Arrived too late to require any food but the breakfast, waiter service and an excellent example of a good wholesome Yorkshire breakfast. We will be definitely using this hotel again, really good value for money.
Comfortable huge bed, immaculately clean, best night's sleep in a long time. As an added bonus the food in the restaurant was excellent at a very reasonable price with lovely staff who couldn't do enough to help. Cask ale at the bar and a good selection of wine. What a pleasant surprise staying at this hotel I honestly couldn't fault it and I'm not easy to please! Don't confuse it with the South Milford Hotel at the other end of the Great North Road.
The staff were all friendly and polite; the room was lovely and the underfloor heating in the bathroom was a real bonus! A lovely breakfast in the morning, too. A handy location as well as close to the A1. Highly recommended as a place to stay!
Just returned home from a fantastic stay at The Milford. The room was spotless, well lit for doing hair etc with best bed I have ever slept on. There was a lovely bathroom with good shower. The staff were exemplary and the food absolutely awesome. We didn't want to leave and want to book again soon.
This hotel does what it says on the tin - Nothing Really to Fault. Comfortable, Clean and tidy rooms, well presented hotel, friendly staff and really cheap it was a great one night stop off for a trip to Futsal in leeds.
We were working in Leeds last week and found ourselves staying at Milford Hotel at very short notice (we booked via iphone and arrived 20 mins later). On arrival the reception staff were polite and helpful, when we asked for a quiet room they accomodated with no problem at all, The room was spacious, clean, beds were fantastic and the bathroom had a welcome underfloor heating. There was a large corporate party in having a meal in the restaurant and due to our visit being last minute I mentioned about our dress code (the restaurant looked as though it could require one) the guy on reception told me not to worry and that it was fine to dress casual. I thought we may have to wait for our meal due to the large party but the meal was served promptly and was really very good!! We will return and thank you for treating myself and my husband so politely when we looked quite shabby!!
I'm currently sitting in my hotel room with my partner beside me. Neither of us can sleep because the bed is severely uncomfortable to sleep on. It's lovely to lay on, lovely to sit on but terrible to sleep on. My back is killing me! Anyway, we enter the hotel via a very long walk round and you can only access the hotel from one side, so we had to walk past the hotel in order to get in (could be addressed easily with a small opening in the wall) but my complaints stop here because after walking into the reception area we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff and a beautiful surrounding. We were checked in quickly and hassle free, small detail was missed by the fact we weren't actually told our room number and had to try and find it on the slip that was given to us. Like I said very small detail, didn't really affect our stay but just thought I would mention it. We walk into our room, it was lovely, large and clean, with adequate tea and coffee supplies, the kettle was empty which is always a plus as I hate the idea of water being in the kettle from someone else's stay. Bathroom was beautiful, small design flaw in that the flusher is behind the toilet lid and I had to search for it as I couldn't see it straight away, But other than that it was excellent. Toiletries were beautifully presented, toilet roll of excellent quality and bath towels were lovely and soft. The television is of excellent size and offers a wide range of channels and much to our surprise (and delight) there is a speaker leading from the television into the bathroom ceiling so you can put a music channel of the TV whilst you shower! The sheets are of lovely quality (the duvet sounds slightly plastic though) and the pillows are wonderfully soft. As mentioned earlier the bed is super soft and bouncy, and unfortunately reminds me of trying to sleep on a bouncy castle! Can't hear a peep from anything though, including the road and we are right at the front of the hotel right next to the stairs and we literally can't hear any noise what so ever. Shower was lovely and large, was a good temperature without too much fiddling with good water pressure. There isn't a rail or holder for the hand towel so you have to just leave it on the side but again, small thing not really a problem. Went downstairs and sat at the bar in the restaurant, very quaintly decorated and very cute. I had a Pinot Grigio rose wine which was excellent, and my partner had both the carling extra cold and the San Miguel, both he said were lovely. When we were ready to eat we were asked where we would like our table to be, we were even offered a booth which was surprising since there was only two of us! Food was amazing, we would recommend (we both tried each others food as well) the haddock risotto, the mushroom and spinach pasta and the chocolate brownie. Onion rings tasted slightly burnt but not so much of an issue, vegetables were cooked well (not too soft) and food was presented beautifully. I had requested if I could bring an addition to the restaurant (in the form of some custard) for my dessert of sticky toffee pudding, which they were fine about and actually took it better than I expected! Who I can only assume was the floor team manager (named Floren I believe) knew who I was which was lovely and was very gracious in my request. The restaurant bought out a beautiful surprise in the form of a plate with 'Happy Anniversary' written on it in chocolate, with a couple of strawberries dipped in chocolate on the side. This was a lovely and unexpected touch that we will never forget. I would have loved to have given this hotel 5 stars because all but the nights sleep was excellent, however because we are staying in a hotel (and you expect to sleep) so I have to take it down to 3 stars. It's such a shame because it's practically perfect in every other way but I have literally had 2 hours sleep tonight, and most of it was tossing and turning trying to find a comfortable position. If they changed the mattress to a more comfortable one we would absolutely stay again, and we will undoubtedly eat in the restaurant again in the future.
Stayed for a weekend with a large gruop of friends. Ideal location, clean and modern fascilities. staff were helpful and friendly. Room very clean and quite comfortable. Bar closed at midnight, ( little early for us) Food was great, enjoyed all meals. Bar prices a little steep
Best Best western hotel we have stayed in for a while, friendliness of staff on arrival, spotlessly clean room and bathroom, very comfortable bed and bedding, facilities in room very good, we stayed 1 night going south and 1 night on return trip, excellent choice on meals, very good choices also for breakfast. Would certainly recommend this hotel to family and friends.
Very clean hotel, staff very friendly. Windows do not open in rooms so air conditioning noise can be annoying. If staying for more than a few days the menu is the same. Specials board not a lot of choice.
One of the cleanest hotels we have stayed in and well run too. Nice relaxing areas to sit in and pass time with friends whilst having a drink. Excellent and friendly staff. The only dissapointment was that there were no vegetables served with the main meal and this wasn't mentioned by the waiter, these are extra! Dog friendly, which is great for those who love them. The smell of damp dogs when brought through the reception area wasn't to our liking though.
Chef has absolutely no idea of how to cook steak. The duty manager, I assume he was, apologised, offered a desert for free but the chef would not emerge from the kitchen and offer an apology. I do not intend to use your hotels again because this was a special occasion and this meal spoiled it.
The hotel is really nice the rooms are well decorated and the bed is to die for ! what a great nights sleep could not ask for more. This week we visited family and had a great time.So good I will be back next week.
We were impressed with this hotel. Rooms clean, comfortable bed, heated floor in bathroom which was most welcome. Staff very helpful and friendly. Dinner on the Friday night was excellent and well priced at £16.95 for 3 courses. Dinner on Saturday night was not as good, which was disappointing as we had expected the same standard as the previous night. Not sure if this was because we were in a private dining room and there were around 40 of us, but we had pre-ordered our meals and would have expected the same standard to be honest. Nevertheless, would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and would certainly return.
the hotel was very clean and the staff at reception was very very nice also. I would stay here again as its great value for money and clean! Went down to reception to ask if they could provide a iron and they had it brought to our room within minutes! very pleased with how nice this hotel was.
Superb food, excellent friendly staff, great atmosphere and spotlessly clean. What more do you need from a hotel? Everything about our stay was just right, no complaints whatsoever. We were there for a reunion dinner and it turned out to be absolutely brilliant. Thanks to all at the hotel for everything they did.
Despite being an out of town hotel, this hotel is a minute from the A1M. The accommodation, service and restaurant offer an excellent standard. I have stayed here many times on business travel and will continue to do so. The standards of this hotel are a credit to the staff!
we would recommend this hotel due to the staff friendliness and the welcome you receive regardless of how late you arrive. The only critisim we would have is the lack of disabled parking we could only see one space
Brilliant all round stay room food staff and restaurant first class even the cleaning staff very helpful very clean accomadation with good value Sunday menu and service reception staff and management polite and helpful
Windows screwed shut. WiFi signal not that strong in room. Google doesn't recognize address, Best Western sign is so small on building you drive past and you don't realise it's your hotel. Air con was either too hot or too cold. Only 1 person can use WiFi password.
Great value hotel visiting while on business travels. Easy access need and tidy warm feeling. Dinner was really good well presented and good value for money. Friendly staff always a plus when travelling.
Great hotel. Beautifully decorated rooms with very comfortable beds. Everything was very clean and well looked after. We had an evening meal in the restaurant. There was a good choice and the food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Stayed one night Room very nice clean and was very roomy, bed ,sofa, desk and good wardrobe I was very surprised at how nice the room was. Free wifi We ate in the restaurant and I have to say the meals were excellent . Good amount of choice for breakfast too, Never stayed in the Best Western chain before but I can see us using them again. Good clean & very welcoming . On a busy road but that did not have effect inside.
Grandson with upset tummy, can't stay there. Best friends decorating, can't stay there. A welcome bed and lovely bath, delicious meals and very warm welcome at Milford hotel. Last room available too, so that was lucky.
Nice comfortable hotel. Very welcoming reception. Lots of car park space and easy to find. Room was sizable with good amenities, including an iron and trouser press. Really good when travelling about the country. Would definitely use again.
First impressions count and the bright, modern and very stylish public areas are continued in the bedrooms themselves. Our suite was spacious, tastefully decorated and featured a bathroom that would not be out of place in a five star hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed the bar area as well as a delightful dinner that evening in a restaurant which has a well balanced menu including some surprises viz chilli bouillabaisse. In short we were delighted with our stay and have no reservations in recommending this hotel.
Rooms were very good, sufficient size, however, disabled room provided just sufficient space for a wheelchair in and reverse out, no room to turn. When thought the disabled room sink was blocked as water didn't appear to be running away, was told to fill it up and it would eventually go. Turned out it went but took overnight, not a pleasant sight in a bathroom. Told nothing they could do. Had a meal in the restaurant, excellent. Staff very friendly and attentive.
The rooms are clean, spacious and very comfortable, the bathroom in particular is of a very high standard. The staff are very friendly, professional, and efficient. The only criticism is the extortionate price for breakfast, and the wine prices in the bar, £19.95 for a cheap Chilean White is taking the Micky !! Overall though this is an excellent hotel.
Room and breakfast very good standard. Nicely set up. Bathroom bright and toiletries provided. No toothbrush provided. Tea tray and extra provided if needed. Polite staff and waiting staff were exceptional when I visited. Quiet at night as.main road access was not busy at all. Car park well lit. Good for woman travelling alone.
If you want a friendly well run hotel with good food, spotlessly clean and at a reasonable cost this is the one for you. Just off the A1, York and Leeds nearby as well as all the other attractions. You will not be disappointed.
Stayed In superior double( room 19), quiet room, very comfy king size bed, soft and firm pillows, black out curtains. Room lovely and warm( I'm a cold soul) and then temperature down to min19* and fan on full gave us perfect ventilation at night (usually sleep with open window) ...windows were non opening. Room very clean and felt luxurious.. Even light inside the wardrobe. Fridge in room for water /milk . A brighter dressing table light would've been good and if bright led lights keep you awake bring something to cover them ......( air conditioning,tv, dvd player). The rooms have been refurbished to a very high standard. Breakfast was delicious and we ate here both evenings...the best fillet steak I have ever eaten..every course was excellent . We stayed here to travel to Leeds but loved the hotel so much I would use it when visiting York
Booked the superior room for me and my partner for a one night stay! Was quite cheap so wasn't expecting that much by when we arrived it was lovely and clean also so many advantages! Huge bed dvd player big telly also big warm bath, will defiantly be back??!!!!
I always look forward to staying here because I have received a consistently high standard of service, comfort and catering. Even my newly diagnosed food allergy was accommodated wonderfully at short notice - thank you.
We LOVE this hotel and use it frequently when we visit family. Situated on what was once the old A1, it's a short drive from Leeds. The roadside location is hardly glamorous but we always choose to stay here rather than one of the City Centre hotels because it's so good. What do we like about it? Everything. The rooms are exceptionally clean and comfortable (thanks to a fantastic housekeeping team, who are also very friendly), there's free wifi, there's air conditioning, the staff are lovely, the restaurant is great - worth a visit even if you're not staying in the hotel. Fabulous value for money - luxury rooms at budget prices. Can't fault it!
Hotel was excellent & staff were very helpful. Room was clean and well facilitated. I was booked into a non smoking room but when we walked into the room you could smell that someone had been smoking in there. Restaurant menu was a bit limited in their offering, but food ordered was very good.
Very good overnight stay on way back from holiday Scotland, room clean bed extremely comfortable breakfast very good.staff good helpfully noticed that people had there dogs with them unusual for such modern clean place to take dogs I'm all for it as have dogs myself, even though situated next to really busy road there was no noise whatsoever.
I stayed here for 4 nights on business, although quite a trek into Leeds city centre, this hotel was very clean and the room was extremely comfortable. I stay in lots of hotels and this one certainly deserved its "Plus" status. A large corner seating area in my room with a very comfortable King size bed. I would definitely return.
