Best Western Hotel On the River, Hannibal

We enjoyed our large guest room with a view of the Mississippi River. The beds were comfortable and the room was a great size. The hot breakfast had a variety of options that we enjoyed. The staff were friendy and accommodating. A couple issues to know: The first night there was an outdoor concert going on that we did not know about. It was pretty loud until around 9 pm. The internet in our room facing the river was terrible. We called and asked about it and we were told there was nothing they could do, that maybe too many people were using it. We did not have consistent, reliable internet service during our stay here. If that is not an issue for you, this is a great hotel in an awesome location.

This hotel provided a great stay. Close to Main Street where you can walk and see the sights. There is some excellent dining options within walking distance. The cons are the hotel is a little out of date. Wifi coverage was horrible. We stayed in a room right above the reception desk and was consistently being disconnected from it. Bring a phone charger if you want to charge your phone. The hotel does not provide charging ports in the room. The rooms were cozy and the beds were comfortable. Overall it was a nice stay.

This has been our go to motel when staying over in the Hannibal area. Staff friendly. Nice pool in an atrium area. Great hot breakfast - sausage, scrambled eggs, potatoes, make your own waffles, other continental breakfast items. Way more than enough for the two of us. Rooms clean and comfortable.

We were skeptical to stay here as it looked dated. It was dated but we had a great experience. The front desk was super friendly. The room was clean and comfortable! Not expensive! We loved the quaint, historic town. Noticed the River boat and at the last minute we were on their dinner cruise! Decent food, entertainment, sunset and talked to really nice families! Came back to a concert on the lawn. I would say this is a great family hotel and location.

Good location, close to main tourist sites. but with the pool in the lobby, it was very loud. Intrnet was spotty. TV remote didn't work. When I reported wifi, i was told I should've called while the manager was in.

OOO, I am sorry that our staff would say that, we will speak with them, as I have the date of your stay. The pool does close at 9 pm and quiet time is enforced at 10 pm. Thank you for taking time to review our hotel.

Start with the bad and end with the good features. The whole property is very dark and dank. Kind of brings down your mood. Very tiny and cramped room 216. Especially for 4 people. Breakfast is of poor quality. Parking was very limited especially when arriving at night. The area is older and a lot of the homes in the area are not in the best shape but that has nothing to do with the quality of the hotel. One tiny elevator. The room stunk a bit and could have used some air freshener. Take some time to heat up the shower before you enter it as it does take several minutes for it to properly heat up but will get to a nice temp if your patient. The best part of the hotel is the front desk attendant Mary who was beyond kind and understanding to my needs. The rooms have nice comfortable beds and bedding. A big TV and all your normal amenities. Everything worked properly in the room (i.e. the lights, the microwave and fridge). Room was clean and quiet. Just has a musty smell but all hotel usually do especially since the pool area is in the center and with the moisture that is common I do believe. If I had to stay here again I would pay no more than $70-$80 even on the weekend.

We are sorry that you do not like the decor of the hotel, we remodeled 3 years ago. Some of the walls are dark blue and others are gray. The breakfast has a huge selection, and most people enjoy the biscuits, gravy, seasoned potatoes, fresh fruit, waffles, yogurt, packaged fruit, bagels, cream cheese, english muffins, cereal, milk, juice. We are not a restaurant, and this is a typical Best Western breakfast. We are happy we can offer you a hot breakfast, instead of the cold breakfast of COVID, that was bagged up and you did not get a choice. Our elevator is regular size. We have 4 different parking lots and only 34 of 109 rooms were rented, there were plenty of parking spaces available to our guests. Maybe the parking spot that you desired was taken, but the front desk can and will always be able to direct you to a parking spot. We are happy you enjoyed your bed and big tv. We have alerted our maintenance department about your hot water taking a bit to warm up, same thing happens at my house. Thank you for taking time to review our hotel, and we are sorry you were not happy with everything, we do try to give our guest the Best experience. Mary does love her guests and will go that extra mile to help you when possible. We hope you have a great 2023 and stay healthy and safe.

Hotel staff made us feel welcome and were very friendly. Room and hotel were very clean and safe. the breakfast was good but needed to be a little warmer. Hotel overall was good for the value and location.

We unexpectedly found ourselves in Hanibal for a night and ended up at the Best Western. The front desk lady was nice and the room was clean. There were a few little things that needed to be fixed in the room like the towel rack...it was loose and all the towels fell off onto the floor, there was rust around the ceiling of the bathroom...little things like that. All in all I found it to be a decent place to stay and I slept well in the comfortable bed. I would recommend this place for a nights stay!

Excellent service. Mary could and should teach a class on hospitality. Best check in experience all year (100 plus checkins this year) Same room in Quincy would cost $180-$200. Clean clean clean. I will be back.

This hotel is in walking distance of almost all attractions in Hannibal and is thus extremely convenient. I cannot imagine staying further away in the City and having to drive to the center of town. It is clean and well-maintained.

Had bedbugs in beds. Had to be moved to a new room in a building across the street in the middle of the night. No parking spaces left at new building so had to walk with everything across street. Did not get breakfast as it ends at 9:30am. We had slept in do to being up most of night switching rooms and showering in the middle of the night!

We called the health department and they did an inspection and found nothing and we have that on file as well as our housekeeping department found nothing. We also treated the room any way just to be sure, and the second room you were in as well. We have never had a problem with bed bugs and when we have a guest state there is, we close off the room and call our health department inspector and he comes and goes through the room with a fine tooth comb and leaves nothing untouched. We have documentation that we do not have them and everything is fine. We are sorry you had an interrupted evening.

We had stayed here before and decided to stay again on our trip to Hannibal. Everything is in walking distance from the hotel. Restaurants and shops. The river is a short walk and beautiful scenery. The front desk ladies, Grace and Mari were very helpful and friendly. We were very glad to be able to park our trike under the canopy also. Would stay again.

The "on the river" may be a little misleading. Yes I could see the river however the hotel is really not on the river. However, all that aside the accommodations were fine, Most importantly the rooms were clean, the bed confortable and the breakast was filling. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location was also accessible to all of the sights in Hannable

This may be the only motel in Hannibal with a clear view of the river. It is hands down the closest motel to the river. (Fourth star for our excellent river view.) Rear third-floor rooms appeared to lack windows. Breakfast was OK. "Business" section a couple of yards from the front desk consists of 2 desktop computers. They required passwords. They also weren't of much use, lacking decent Internet access and needing software updating or malware removed. The glum desk clerk (minus one star) initially balked at providing the computer password, and maintained her non-friendly persona as she dealt with guests whether they were seeking change or were checking out.

Thank you. We are sorry you felt the desk clerk was glum, she has a wonderful smile, great personality and she would give you the shirt off of her back if needed. She is however, extremely busy trying to get everything in order for gusts to check out and all of the other things going on for the upcoming guests arrival that day. She just does not show a lot of emotion while working. Thank you for letting us know about the computers, as we do not use them and the other guests never say anything, maybe because they just check facebook or mail. Our computer technician will be notified. We are glad you enjoyed your visit.

Every year we reserve this hotel a year in advance for the Steampunk Festival. It's so close to the shops, food music, and bars and as hardcore cosplayers take over the hotel and pack the hotels around, customer service is fantastic and the hotel staff were awesome

This is a good BW hotel. It is the only one right by the river and easy walks to the historical sites. Free parking is an asset. The hotel was sold out both nights i stayed here as the Steampunk event was going on. The clerk said they have been sold old ongoing all Summer. There is a pool and a breakfast room that has lots of items. The room was comfortable and tastefully decorated. The bathroom is small but clean. The AC is central and can be regulated or turned off. There is a second building across the street and I assume it was sold out as well. Thisis the place to stay if you want to see Mark Twain.

Our historic district has grown as well. We would love to have you as our guest again, tell your friends to pack a bag and come on as well! Not exactly on the river, it is at least 2 blocks away. The friendly lady at the desk said we had a river view from our room, but I could only see a very little of the river. The location to downtown is very good, everything is within walking distance. A nice place with a free breakfast.

Over the years, I have learned to exercise caution when relying on Trip Advisor's ratings. Why? The are always inflated! Take this property, for example. It is okay, maybe even a little better than okay, but let's be honest. It is nothing special. Where do I start? First of all, to say that this hotel is "on the river" is misleading. When you read that description, you immediately assume you will have a "river view." Oh, no. Many of the rooms do not have a view of any kind. When I looked out my window, I was staring at a blank concrete wall. Second of all, the lobby is a swimming pool! I have never seen anything so strange. The acrid smell of chlorine permeates the main building and its rooms. Worse, if you are a senior citizen, the floor encircling the pool is wet. This is a hazard. Third, the parking can be inconvenient. This property is on a hill, and some cars are going to have to park on severe angles. Fortunately, I had the benefit of parking in handicap spaces, and they were flat and accessible. Fourth, bikers are parking outside the entrance to the property which makes it difficult for customers to park and check-in outside of the lobby. It's a very strange motel/hotel, and I would not stay there again. To be fair, the check-in clerk was friendly and competent, and the breakfast was good.

YOUR REVIEW IS INFLATED AND NOT CORRECT---1) you booked your room online, where they have pictures of the hotel, and there are pictures of the pool as well. You knew the pool would be located in the area of the rooms. The lobby is not a swimming pool!! As you say, clearly you saw all the couches and chairs and tv, and such when you walked by them for breakfast. The chlorine does not penetrate the rooms, if you could smell it in your room, you said nothing to anyone, and how are smells worse for a senior citizen than anyone else? Yes, the pool will have a wet floor around it, have you ever seen one that didn't. I mean you don't get out of the pool and be instantly dry when you get out, right? Name one place that doesn't have water around the pool, that is why we have signs, CAUTION WET FLOOR. 2) YES WE ARE BUILT INTO A HILL AND ONE SMALL PARKING LOT TO THE NORTH IS ON A HILL, the remaining 3 are flat. 3) YES, WE ARE A BIKER FRIENDLY HOTEL, AND THERE IS A DOUBLE DRIVE SO THE BIKERS CAN PARK THERE, OR WOULD YOU RATHER THEY TAKE UP ALL THE PARKING SPOTS SO YOU WOULD HAVE TO PARK UP THE STREET. When you parked in your handicap spot, are you trying to say it was the only flat spot? you drove past 2 rows of parking on the same flat lot to get to your handicap spot. We hope you find another hotel, as we will not accommodate you.

When I first checked in the woman at the front desk went above and beyond to get me an early check in, she was very accommodating and showed great empathy to my particular needs and made me feel welcomed even though I checked in pretty early. She even took ownership of guiding cleaning staff to actually clean my room and floor first to accommodate my request for early check in! She was what made it all worth the stay! I wish all Best Western staff treated their guests this way! Even if she wasn't able to accommodate my early check in request I would give her glowing reviews because she went out of her way to actually try! And she never promised she stated she would see what she could do. In fact, told me she didn't think she would be able to that early but ended up getting me early check in two hours earlier than she was anticipating as my room was one that had a jacuzzi that would take more time! Thank you for trying, seeing reasonable expectations, and then under promising and over delivering on that promise!

We stayed at the Best Western on the River for four nights to tour the historical sites, do a little shopping downtown and visit relatives in the area. We had a very nice stay and the Manager was extremely helpful and friendly.

This hotel is an older style hotel. The property has an inside court yard area with a pool/hot tub in the middle of the action. If you get a river side room you can see the Mississippi from the second or third floor. Large sitting area with tables and chairs in the indoor court yard type space. With in walking distance to the river, Mark Twain exhibits, down town area and shops. Breakfast had four to five hot choices as well as a waffle maker and cold cereal.

Chlorine smell permeates everywhere. As if a town on the Mississippi were not already humid and hot enough— in this hotel it's like sleeping poolside. Noisy street outside too. Furniture is scuffed and worn. The other hotels must be awful if this is the best in town.

BEWARE !! WRITER IS MAKING FALSE STATEMENTS !! The pool does not take up all of the lobby as you stated, and the chlorine smell, well if you go to the YMCA or any indoor pool area, you will smell the chlorine odor, because your sweat, deodorant, makeup, and other stuff from swimmers' bodies can also create chemical irritants when combined with chlorine. The CDC recommends a rinse before taking a dip to remove any extra substances .That is why you smell the chlorine. This hotel was refurbished 2 years ago, and we are still removing new furniture to replace the new damaged furniture. You will be hard pressed to find any traffic after 10 pm, as we are a small town and there just is no one out like your bigger cities. If you had a problem with the noise, asking the front desk to move you is not a problem, and we do have ear plugs as well. Your comments about the hotel were mean and untrue, please look for other accommodations when in this area. Have a great summer

We enjoyed our stay in Hannibal at this hotel. The pools are wonderful and the staff is friendly. Great location to all the Mark Twain sites and the river. Beds are very firm. I'm used to a softer bed, that's the only issue we had.

This was a great overnight stopover during our trip. The room was clean and even smelled very clean. Our room (131) appeared to be an accessible room, the shower was accessible and the bathroom had all the handrails, however, the sink would have been too high for anyone in a wheelchair. Also, the layout of the room with the dresser straight across from the end of the bed would make it impossible to get to the rest of the room. The bed was way too high for anyone with a handicap. My husband who is 5'9" even commented on how high the bed was, but it was quite comfortable once you made it in! Our only problem with the room was that our deadlock would not lock until my husband pulled up with quite a bit of strength while twisting the lock, then in the morning it was almost impossible to unlock the door, but we got it opened and notified the front desk. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Breakfast was the usual food, eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, and waffles. Looked to have been some sort of hashbrown dish but it was empty when we were there. One staff did resupply a couple of things while we were in the breakfast area, but no one ever tried to clean or wipe any counters or tables, etc while we were there. Overall this hotel is a good place to stay if visiting Hannibal and we would stay again when in the area.

We weren't sure if we were going to stay or not, so this was a last minute, one night stay. I believe there were two buildings. The first one had the pool, the breakfast area, and the main lobby area. We stayed in the second building. The outdoor pool was right next to it. It felt brand new. The bed was comfy and the shower had nice pressure. We had a view of downtown and the river. Parking was easy. Easy to walk to the downtown museums and food. Oh, they did serve breakfast. Standard breakfast food.

Grandparents with two grandchildren. Room was clean and as expected. No issues with the room. Pool hours are too short, closing at 9 PM Hot tub water level was too low. Internet was terribly slow. Traveling with a and 11 year olds, the internet is a MUST!

Nice hotel with perfect location in historic district of Hannibal. Literally across the street from Mark Twain's boyhood home and Ayers Pottery shop. Just a few blocks from B&B Theaters, modern Dolby sound, recliner cinema, where we caught Top Gun, while in town:) We were able to park our car when we arrived at the hotel and not need it again until we left town, everything was right there. Museum, trolley tour and Brick Oven were amazing:)

It's not on the river but was really nice to be able to park the car and walk in downtown Hannibal. I could see how this could get noisy with the pool in the middle of the hotel but we had a third floor room and didn't hear anything. Room was spacious very clean! Breakfast was nice would stay again if in the area!!

It's your standard hotel experience which is fine. Well located and our group easily walked around the sites and downtown and along the river. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean. Wish the pool stayed open later (for adults only). Breakfast was good.

This hotel is nice. Parking is an issue as it's very limited but the do own the hotel next door which is where they told us to park. Carrying our car sick toddler and belongings was no fun from the other parking lot. It is not on the river, it's three blocks away. I'm not even sure you can see the river on the upper floors. The hotel was clean and well kept. It is very close to the Mark Twain museum.

The hotel is one block from the river, not 3. You can see the river from most of the rooms as there are many pictures posted by guests. You can even see the river from the front desk. You could of taken you sick toddler to the room and let your husband/wife park the car. You could of even unloaded your belongings and left them at the front desk, while you parked. Enjoy your summer.

Arrived at the motel @ 2:15...45 minutes prior to check-in. The motel was completely deserted...no guests or employees. The lady at the front desk would not allow us to check-in or to leave our luggage in the room. I admit I was a little rude when I said that didn't make sense and asked why. Her response was because ,"that's our policy" and walked away. We'll see how things go once we get checked in and I may edit this review.

The best thing to do when someone is unhappy with the rules and you can no longer explain, you must just remove yourself from the situation. There were multiple things going on and the hotel was not deserted, but there were issues with the computer check in system, and with that being inoperable at 1:45 pm, when you came to the front desk, it was out of our hands. So yes, she did walk away from you, as you were already upset, and your credit card must clear before anything is put into the room, and there is no way to check the credit card without the check in system operating correctly. We are installing new systems and for a period of time we will not be offering early check in unless the IT guys have finished up. It does state on our website that check in is at 3 pm

Lovely clean room with nice view. Front desk staff were all lovely and gave a great recommendation for food (Fiddlestix), and cooked breakfast was wonderful - even as a vegetarian, there were good options. Would stay again if in Hannibal.

Check in was quick and easy and the desk manager was very helpful. Our room was on the second floor and we slept great...after the pool closed. The nice thing was that the pool closed promptly at 9:00 and the noise immediately stopped. The breakfast was very generous, but most of all it had delicious gravy and incredible hash browns. (I'd go back just for the breakfast!) We'll definitely stay here again when in the area.

If you want to maybe get your Military Discount make sure to book online with a Third Party company as the Hotel will not honor this if you book directly with them and the cost is almost $65 more a night.

Spent a night here on the way home. It is within walking distance of everything in old downtown. Check in staff very friendly. We requested room on top floor away from elevator and they accomodated us. The only issue is the pool is right there when you check in, which seemed odd. I saw other comments about chlorine smell, but we didn't really notice. It is noisy when people are in the pool as it echoes, but they do close the pool at 9. We didnt hear any noise after 10. Shower was very good, room was clean. We would stay again if ever that way.

I have stayed here numerous times over the past 15 years. The property has gotten a little better each and every time but it does have a few drawbacks. The location is the best in town if your are interest in walking the historic downtown. The rooms are not a problem. They are very clean. Our room had fairly new carpet and wallpaper. The bed were very comfortable. The bathroom was fine. Our room was on the first floor not far from the pool. There was no outside looking window, it looked into the pool area. There is also a chlorine smell when you walk into the building. That smell didn't permeate the room. I will stay here in the future but ask for a room away from the pool.

The gal at the front desk was so friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home and welcome in the hotel. The room was clean and had everything we needed. A wonderful pool and jacuzzi to relax in. The full breakfast was wonderful! The hotel was really nice to stay at and we've already recommended it to our friends as a lovely weekend getaway!

The hotel is a trip to the past. I picked 1985. This is not on the river, so don't romanticize your expectations. Parking is difficult, on either side of the building (one-way in/out so you better be good with driving in reverse, or on top. The smell of chlorine from the center-focus swimming pool (covered in plastic) overwhelms. The front desk staff was courteous and helpful. The internet and cable was out that night - they blamed Spectrum which I totally believed. The room was unremarkable but decently clean. The breakfast was abysmal. Standard fare that was barely edible, just because of the quality of ingredients, not related to prep.

We are in love with your comical review! Thank you so much. We were not responsible for someone hitting a pole and knocking out the entire city of cable and internet, we are sorry that you were so upset that you would go to the extreme to write a review such as this. We hope you find the hotel you are looking for that provides you with all you desire in Pleasantville that never has any troubles, like a cable or power outage. If the smell was so awful why did you stay here? We have 4 different parking lots, and you never asked where you should park either, the desk staff can always find you a place to park, had you asked them. As we stated in the other review that you wrote, we will not provide service to you in the future. Good luck and stay healthy.

I had a room in the center of the hotel where the pool is. Strong chlorine smell and very loud people and children. Would have requested a room elsewhere in the hotel if I had known. The service was good, but I would have liked a room far from the pool. I guess I should have done more research. Writing this a 8:45pm, hope it gets quieter!!

The pool closes at 9pm every night, and if you would of called the front desk we could have moved you to our other building.

Many of the rooms are internal with doors open to the pool atrium and no external windows. Strong chlorine smell throughout. If you want a window and some natural light, make sure you ask for that. Loud trains at night that you hear through that window, though! On the plus side, good shower pressure and hot water. Typical free hotel breakfast.

Shower would not get hot, only warm. Fan in bathroom ran constantly. TV remote would not turn the tv on or off, only change volume and channel. The location was within walking distance to everything, so we did not have to drive anywhere. That was a plus. We stayed in the second building across the street from the main building. Main building only served breakfast, so we had to walk out in the cold to get to breakfast. There is an indoor pool in the main lobby. Exercise room did not have any sanitizer to wipe down equipment.

THANK YOU AGAIN! The morning that you HAD to walk was 50 degrees, and you were informed at check in that breakfast was only in the main building due to short of staff issues, just like everyone else in the world. You were fine with it, you never called about the fan, nor the remote, so how are we to help you, if you wait and post online instead of calling the desk? You did not report anything. When we checked the water temp in your room, it is set to 103 degrees, we can not have our hot water heater set on high as the health department will not allow it as this is a hotel, and there could be skin burns to anyone if your hot water heater is set on high. None of the other rooms reported any issues. We wish you the best of luck in your travels.

Looked for a place to stay off the highway when returning to MN from Florida. Perfect spot. Left about a 7 hour ride to St. Paul. Hotel was clean and well taken care of. Staff was very helpful with things to do, places to eat. Mark Twain Brew house is a block away with nice staff and friendly environment plus good food. Looks like lots to do in the summer but plenty of shops when we stayed. Pool and hot tub were clean and nice.

If you want to get a good night's rest do not stay here. This is inside a dome with open floors and you can hear everything from everyone. Had drunk guys laying on the bed with the door open next to me just staring and being creepy. Front desk was just as loud as anybody. Could hear them from the first floor on the third floor. Woke up late going to work the next day wasn't able to get sleep even with my tv turned up until after 10pm when everyone finally stopped yelling at each other in the hallway. If you want a drinking party atmosphere this is a get hotel if you actually want some privacy and sleep it's terrible. Will absolutely never stay here again or any hotel with a dome or open floors. Lesson learned

We are sorry that you we unhappy with your stay. We tried everything we could to make you happy and nothing worked. You complained and wanted everyone in the hotel to be quiet at 6 pm, sorry that did not happen. I can tell you the front desk was not loud and you were more than happy to be walking all of the floors of the hotel, and we had guests calling and asking why you were walking all floors, and they wondered if maybe you could not find your room, the desk told them you were just getting your steps in. We did have guests complain about your loud tv, it kept them from sleeping, but when staff got to your room, you had turned it off. NO ONE that was here was looking into your room, unless you had your door open and your curtains open. We are sorry you felt they did. We did have some men eating dinner together on the second floor and you were on the 3rd floor, there was no possible way for them to be staring at you in your room, you were nowhere close. We enforce the 10 pm quiet time, and during pool hours if kids are screaming we will ask them to keep it down, but we do let them laugh and have fun, but no fighting and arguing, that's not fun for any one. We are sorry that you were late for work, that is not the hotels fault. We provide an alarm clock for you in your room, and if you ask we would of given you a wake up call. We hope that you find the perfect hotel for your next stay, and enjoy the rest of your year! Be healthy and stay safe.

Had a last minute stay here for business during a snow storm. Arrived very late due to traffic conditions. Pleasant is an understatement when describing the attendant that checked us in. She was so kind and extremely helpful. The next morning, she even took it upon herself to find me something to help remove the snow from my vehicle. People like her should be recognized for going above and beyond to make your stay pleasurable. She is the reason I will return there and look for Best Western elsewhere in the future. We booked a room for Saturday before Christmas to attend a social event. The room we got had a GORGEOUS view of the river and to the south (it was a corner room). Overall very pleased with the experience.

The hotel is very nice. We usually stay there when we come to Hannibal to see my husband's Mother. We stay there several times a year. It is always clean, the people working there are friendly and helpful. Jeff and Grace were working while we were there. Grace has worked there for many years. Cannot say enough nice things about them. The cleaning people did a great job and rooms were clean.

We stayed at this hotel once before a few years back and were pleased with it, so we booked again. It's convenient, close to restaurants, shops, the riverfront, museums, etc. It's also clean and staff are friendly and very helpful. I made a mistake when I booked online for the wrong date. Thankfully, the desk clerk made it right for us. Breakfast was pretty scant, but we grabbed a muffin to tide us over and went to a restaurant. We'll be back for sure.

Nice hotel with large atrium gathering and pool areas. Hot breakfast items were limited due to Covid. Close to movie theater and some good restaurants. Great area to explore the history of the Mississippi River.

I called when I was making reservations (plenty early) because I wasn't sure how to request a river view. The man who answered just kept repeating that "they can be requested but not guaranteed" and made no offer to help me make a reservation (or tell me how to request one until I suggested it). So I just used the form online. I understand that the river views may not be available but we were given a room in the main building with NO WINDOWS at all, except into the "atrium". (I didn't even know that was legal.) Thankfully my claustrophobia was minor. Because of the atrium it tended to be noisy especially on Friday and Saturday. The hotel is a great location and the decor seems to be recently updated. We were on the third floor and parked on the alley up there, which was handy, except for the deep dip at the end of the alley bumping the bottom of the car. So if you can manage to get them to let you have an exterior window like a normal Midwest hotel, it is a good place to stay.

We thank you for taking your time to give your opinion of our hotel. We did tell you we can not guarantee a river view, as we can't guarantee that to any one. You could of asked if there was another room available with a window looking out to any where, and we would have done our best to help find you another room. We try to help all of our guests, but sometimes no matter what we do it is not enough for the guest. We have several guests who prefer the back wall. Our atrium closes at 10 pm. There is no noise after that, with the exception of the elevator and the ice machine. It is legal to have rooms that look into the atrium. We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay and we hope the rest of your travels meet all of your needs. Enjoy the rest of your year and stay healthy.

This hotel was very clean and comfortable. It isn't a new sparkly hotel but above average in every way. Front desk was very polite, fast and efficient! They had great suggest for dining in local area. Over all our experience was great!!!

I picked this property due to its location to the Historic sites in Hannibal. I found very friendly and helpful staff when checking in. The room was clean, and the beds ok. Could really have full size pillows though.

Good location as you can walk to town and see the main attractions. Can walk to the river. The parking at this hotel, however, because of it's location is difficult. We stayed parked once we got there rather than leave and risk losing our space. As we left in the morning we realized there is additional parking across the street.

This was our second time here and again we enjoyed our stay! On check in we were notified that we were ungraded to a jacuzzi room. The gal was very friendly and thanked us for our business. The room was HUGE! The decor was nice, including a sofa and a desk. Overall the room was clean, everything worked and it was very comfortable. There are no USB outlets! Great location, within walking distance to everything downtown including several restaurants! Breakfast was “grab and go” but had a great selection…including breakfast wraps that you could heat up. Check out was fast and easy! We will definitely stay a 3rd time!

This hotel is right in town with plenty of parking. Since Hannibal is small everything is walking distance. The hotel is a bit old, but it's kept up nicely. Our roon was large and clean with a view of the river. The breakfast that came with the room was a nice plus, and the staff was friendly and efficient.

I have to admit, I wasn't sure as we had stayed there years before and I thought maybe it had aged. We decided last minute to book and we loved our stay. The building we stayed in had been recently updated, the beds were so comfy, and it was perfect walking distance to downtown bars and restaurants. The hotel staff upon check-in were extremely friendly and readily offered recommendations. You won't go wrong if you want to stay downtown.

Stayed one night on our way out west. I had stayed here twenty years ago too. Nice place. Clean and quiet rooms. It's walking distance from downtown Hannibal and their attractions. The indoor pool and hot tub were really nice too. Highly recommend

We stayed here on Friday and Saturday. Location was great for walking around downtown. Are room wells ready so we got to check in and hour early. Indoor pool looked great but we didn't take our suits. We had the accessibility room with roll in shower. Worked great for the bestie. Employees were friendly and very helpful. The only complaint is parking but we made it. Give them a try. You will like it.

Perfect location for visiting the downtown Hannibal area. Especially during the steampunk festival. Loved the fact that there were both an indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Our room was very large and comfortable. Great customer service from the desk to the housekeeping staff. We had the best parking spot in town for motorcycles - right at the front door of the motel under the porch roof. Price was a little bit steep and breakfast was lacking for Best Western standards.

Stayed 3 nights w/friends. Room clean, staff friendly. Couldn't use free breakfast as it was pared down by COVID restrictions and didn't meet dietary needs of one of our group--understandable for the conditions. Only small issues encountered--needed to have more toilet paper available in a room for 4 adults. 2 partial rolls in room on check-in. When additional rolls requested, only one new roll provided. Lacked tissues; may have been due to COVID restrictions. Planning to stay there again for Steampunk Festival 2022!

From the initial reservation to check out, this Best Western was amazing. The room was spotless, the staff was friendly, the pools were clean and nicely-maintained. The beds were so comfortable. We had a direct view of the Mississippi River and we were a quick stroll from the historic downtown area. The lady that works at the front desk is incredibly sweet and has great customer service skills. We would come back and we highly recommend this Best Western On The River! Thank you!

We went to Hannibal, MO expressly for the Mark Twain area and attractions. The Best Western on the River was within walking distance of many of the attractions and the shops, etc. It also had an excellent view of the Mississippi River. There was no hot breakfast due to Covid-19 restrictions, which I found surprising due to the fact we had stayed at a Best Western in Jefferson City, MO on our way to Hannibal and the full, hot breakfast was provided there. Other than that, it was a great hotel.

We stayed in the annex across the street from main hotel. Warning: there is no employee stationed in this building. Your room key better work to get you in the front door. The pool and hot tub, as well as the meager inedible breakfast, are across the street in the main building. Heat & humidity were oppressive outside. Horrible staff, no help.at all. Bring your own breakfast or eat out. Really loved the pool and hot tub, room was huge and new, beds were very comfortable, bathroom was great. For safety, get a room in the main building and bring your own breakfast, rooms have microwaves and refrigerators.

You are exactly right there is no staff in our annex building, as all of our guests are over 21 and don't need supervision. We do have cameras that we can see in every corner, except your guest room, (that would be illegal) there is a phone in the lobby and in your room, and neither seemed to be in a location where you could not use them. We have very sensitive smoke, and carbon monoxide detectors in all rooms and in all hallways that are directly wired to the fire department which is approximately 5 blocks away. You called the desk and demanded the staff to meet your needs, and when extra staff was unavailable, (no one wants to keep a job any more, they would rather stay home and collect a check) you became rude and unpleasant. We offered to move you and you refused, stating you were handicapped and liked where you were, next to the elevator, and couldn't walk further, (but you walked next door to the pool and hot tub) We would have gladly placed you in the handicap room, and we asked you more than once to move you to a different room, but you refused every time. We am sorry, your fridge was not to your liking. We have worked during this entire pandemic and we are going through it again, but our doors are still open, so you can have a place to stay while on your vacation. We get called names and treated poorly by you and it is truly uncalled for. We give you information on where to eat, what sites to see, where you can take children. We want our guests to have a great stay and enjoy our town, We go above and beyond for our guests, but when you call the desk and we can not meet your demands it does not give you the right to call them names, and make fun of their looks or weight the next morning at check out. We did not treat you badly, make fun of your looks or call you names at any point during your stay. We have it posted on our website that our breakfast has been modified. Sorry you missed that, as it is posted and we tell every guest when they check in. There is nothing we can do about the outdoor temperatures, no more than you can. (we wish we could) Your room temp is what you set it on. You have the right to your opinion and we have the right to refuse service to anyone. We hope you can find a hotel where you can regulate the outdoor temperature, and call the staff names and make fun of them when you do not get your demands met, as we will not accommodate you. The ventilation system has black mold. If you're allergic or sensitive avoid this place. It's not the cleanest place either. Definitely a disappointment for $100+ a night in a economically depressed area.

Why on earth would you stay for 2 nights, if the hotel is in such poor order? I know I would not have. You did not report to the desk there was a problem and you checked in at 3:44 pm on the 24th and checked out on the 26th, there was a staff member on duty 24 hours, and you could of called from the room. SO this tells me, you were fine with the room, and we hope you find a hotel that better suits your needs, as we will no longer accommodate you. Enjoy the rest of your summer and safe travels.

Staff was kind and helpful, clean rooms, comfortable beds, good food and an indoor and outdoor pool. Parking was very convenient. Walking distance to all the attractions which was great. Will definitely go back!

Extremely friendly very clean! Loved the option of indoor and outdoor pool! Hit tub was relaxing. I highly recommend this hotel and the suite with the jacuzzi tub in it! Amazing! Staff was super helpful and seemed like a good work environment!

The location of the hotel is great. Most everything in the downtown area that we wanted to see was within 5 blocks of the hotel. We stayed on the 3rd floor, so we could see the river from our hotel window. Finding a place to park was easy. The outdoor pool was clean and relaxing. The sleeping room was clean and comfortable. It's an older hotel, but seems to be kept up pretty well. The hotel seemed pricey for Hannibal but was actually less expensive than the Sleep Inn or Holiday Inn, so I guess they weren't out of line with what hotels are charging now in Hannibal. The breakfast was not a meal. It was more like snack food. It was only coffee, juice, cereal, yogurt, very little fruit, pre-packaged donuts/Danishes and stuff like that. It was unappetizing. We left and went to a restaurant for a real breakfast. For the cost of the room and it being a Best Western, I expected better options. Other than that, I was pleased with the experience overall. Everyone that worked at the front desk that we interacted with were very helpful and nice. Even during a power outage one evening when things got very chaotic, the staff I interacted with were as helpful as they could be given everything they had to juggle.

Thank you for your review. We are happy you enjoyed your stay. We have to follow our local county guidelines for the COVID. It costs 3x as much as our normal breakfast. I do know that 95 percent of our guests say we have more options than the other places they have been. Most hand you a sack with a banana and a bottle of water. As soon as this covid is over we will be back full force.

This Best Western was so very accommodating and hospitable, it was as if you were coming home to a family that was happy to see you. The cost was very reasonable and the room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. I almost didn't want to leave.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hannibal On the River Best Western. The hotel has a great downtown location and it was a short 1-2 block walk to the brewery, restaurants, and shops. The hotel was clean, the room was very nice, and the staff was super friendly. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit.

The location of this motel is great. The check in was fast. Elevator works! Ice machine always had ice! Pool was a big hit with grandchildren. Motorcyle club was staying here and putting one mororcycle in one car spot so parking was a bit problematic but worked. Bring your own pillow as this was my family's only complaint.

We stayed here twice recently. The hotel and rooms are very clean. Our first room had the "aroma" of a room that used to be smoked in - it's hard to get rid of that smell. Second room did not have any off smell. Both of our first floor rooms had easy access to the indoor pool but no natural light. The window faced the atrium area inside the hotel. Breakfast was lackluster, mostly packaged snack bars, muffins, yogurt, cereal. Location is convenient with lots of restaurants, shops, and sights within easy walking distance. Staff is friendly. It looks like there have been relatively recent renovations and overall the hotel looks fairly up to date inside.

The hotel is not on the river; it is located on a hill which overlooks a portion of the town. We were told our room had a "partial" river view. It was more like a sliver. The room was adequate. there was a pool just off the lobby and a typical breakfast was included.

Your review is misleading. Sorry you did not see the river, many guests have posted their river view on many websites . We can not give everyone a river view, even though we would love to. We tell every caller we do not guarantee a river view. We also have an outdoor pool, and we are in the historic district, so you were able to keep your car parked, and walk to all the attractions. Well, I do not want to mislead here, you should drive to the Mark Twain Cave and Lovers Leap, as they are around 2 miles from the hotel. We wish you the best, and safe travels.

Convenient location, downtown, a block away from Mark Twain's Boyhood Home. We drove out to the next exit looking for supper, that was a mistake. Several restaurants across the street from the hotel, should have gone there. Hotel has a big open atrium with a pool and hot tub. Our room faced the outside south side and was very quiet. Breakfast was minimal, could have done more - Covid is behind us. Would stay here again.

Rooms facing inward were very loud. Very few outlets, the ones they had were on lamp bases. The only one that worked when the lamp was turned off was between the beds. Jadria at the front desk was very cheerful and helpful.

Most of our lamps are controlled by the light switch at the door, and you can turn them off and on manually. There are 6 outlets in each room. We are sorry we did not meet your expectations. After the pool closes at 9 pm, there is minimal noise, and at 10pm, quiet time begins and it is enforced.

I'd stayed here previously and it was fine so thought I would stay here again. The two great points are...nice staff and great location. But the facility itself is really looking worn down. We had a room on the third floor, by request, so that we could see the river. When we opened the curtains, it was obvious that inside and outside windows had not been cleaned in a while. That by itself wasn't the worst thing...but it just added to the overall poor impression. I don't know that I would stay there again.

We booked 2 rooms with a connecting door. The rooms were clean, although the hotel itself seemed a little dark and dingy. The staff were very courteous. I didn't try the breakfast myself, but my husband and kids said it was terrible - very poor selection. We ended up buying breakfast elsewhere in town. The location was great - walking distance to the river and all the shops, museums, lighthouse, etc.

Hotel room was quite comfortable. Street side has a nice view of the river. Easy walk to downtown. Due to covid, breakfast is a cold breakfast, but had a variety of choices. Pool and spa were open--soothing after a long drive.

Great location to drive to both parks and downtown Utica. The staff is super helpful and friendly. We've been here several times and will probably stay again in the future when visiting the parks. The rooms were average but clean.

Great hotel with great staff. The boy that checked us in (I want to say Danny but can't remember) was excellent. It was so nice to be welcomed with a smiling face and he truly made us feel welcome. He gave great suggestions on the town. Hotel had a nice little store with ice cream and other snacks. Room was clean and had plenty of hot water with great water pressure. Would stay again for sure.

The location was perfect, I was able to park my car and walk every where I wanted to go. Becky Thatcher Diner was only a block and a half away, had a nice breakfast ( the hotel modified breakfast left a lot to be desired, but hopefully will go back to full hot breakfast soon). All the attractions and shops are easily walkable, including the Trolley tour, and Riverboat tour. The hotel has a small snack shop in the lobby if needed. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Room on the 3rd floor was clean and looked like it had been recently remodeled. The indoor pool is in the courtyard in the middle of the hotel, it was large and also had a hot tub. Strange location for it and there were some screaming children in there, but it got quiet around dinner time so it worked out fine for sleeping. I found Hannibal to be a charming town, with friendly people and plenty to see and do. Again, Best Western was a perfect location and I would definitely stay here again! As a side note, the parking is tight at the main building for people with large trucks and full size SUV. They do have additional and easier parking at the next building over.

Located in the Tourist district.Went with our three grandchildren and had a corner room with three beds which was ideal. Had a view of the river. The hotel is designed around two central courtyards one with a pool the other a lounge. Our room was clean. The hotel is showing it's age somewhat. There is no hot breakfast due to Covid.

We stayed here during the Twain on Main festival and were not disappointed. The rooms are the same as everywhere, two very firm beds, selection of pillows, single cup coffee maker, microwave and small not very cold fridge. The room appeared clean and full of the usual toiletries, soap, shampoo, cream rinse and lotion. Everything functioned, the AC was cold and the remote had batteries. I didn't use the clock radio but the time was accurate. I used the micro, the coffee maker and the fridge. Small selection of coffee, tea and condiments including individual wrapped cups. Hannibal has a darth of restaurants but plenty of drive thru food. It's pretty hilly if you're debating a winter trip, beware of ice. It looks like it'd be dangerous. Over all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Best Western on the river. There are two side by side buildings, we stayed in the building on the south side of Hill St. The main building with the main lobby and indoor pool is on the north side of Hill St. Both buildings face 3rd Street. The outdoor pool is behind the our building. If that helps when choosing a room. Parking is tight with both buildings having a lot with only one way in and out. Making it sometimes difficult when faced with full spots and having to back out into the street to escape. There are three lots and on street parking. When we were there for the festival it was a full house so all the parking spots were like treasures.

We stayed at this hotel and had promised our child pool time after a long car ride. Literally three minutes after arriving someone vomited in the pool and the pool was shut down. While this is not the hotel's fault, we overheard staff saying they were going to take a shortcut to remedying the problem, which was filtering the water rather than draining the pool. Anyone who has any sort of science background knows that the filters in pools do not filter well enough to take care of vomit, so this could make others ill. Other than that the room was comfortable but dated. The whole hotel could use a facelift, even if it was simply paint and a deep clean. Parking at this hotel is difficult. The main lot fills quickly and is difficult to turn around in when it is full.

We had no control over the situation, other than closing the pool, and we took the right precautions to keep everyone safe. We understand that you were upset about the pool closing, but there was no other option at that time.  Our pool contractor was called immediately and he took care of the problem.  We said we had to close both the pool and the hot tub because of the vomit, and this staff not knowing how the pool filters work along with the hot tub and to ensure another guest would not get into the pool.  Both  the pool and hot tub  were closed  to ensure guest safety,  and that was told to all of the guests, as we were working on closing them down.  We are very concerned with our guest safety in all aspects of the hotel. We have updated our hotel just two years ago, with the paint and new furniture. Our hotel is clean, and deep cleaned on a regular basis. We have 4 different parking lots, and the front desk is always happy to help you find parking. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.  We are happy that the child who threw up is ok and it was nothing more than swallowing too much pool water while playing, as we were told by his grandparents.

Great location and beautiful views of town, train, and river. Staff is friendly and helpful. Room is always clean. Great wifi, pool, and convenient parking. Looking forward to another stay. Price is reasonable.

If you are staying in Hannibal to explore the history of Mark Twain this is the hotel for you! It's one block away from the 7 major Mark Twain sites. You also, on the 3rd floor of the hotel, will have a view of the Mississippi River.

We spent 2 nights at this location, in the heart of historic downtown Hannibal. The location is ideal to Main Street and many of the tourist attractions. It was a clean hotel with a nice sized pool and hot tub area, and a very attractive atrium area. The hotel was fairly priced, and we felt safe and comfortable during our stay. The breakfast was still grab and go, or you can sit in the dining area and eat, if preferred. they did have a fair selection of offerings, but I do wish they had instant oatmeal. The area was clean and well-stocked, and everything appeared in good condition. The big disappointment about this place was the staff. Only one or two of the front desk clerks were welcoming. It seemed like the other gals at the front desk were just inconvenienced by us. The clerk who checked me in was more robot than human. At least 3 of the front desk clerks didn't even look remotely happy to see us or to be working there, for that matter. One of the cleaning staff hitched a ride in the elevator with us and not a peep, smile, or even nod of the head.

Nice and clean hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Fantastic location and a great value. They offered a free breakfast which was good. With COVID they only offered pre packaged items, however, that is certainly understandable. We would stay there again on our next trip to Hannibal.

This is right in downtown Hannibal and walking distance to most of the major attractions in the area. Our room was clean and comfortable and the kids loved the indoor pool. The front desk staff members were friendly and provided a couple of toothbrushes when we needed them. Unfortunately, most of the staff did not wear masks and neither did the guests, so we were sure to keep our distance and wear our masks since neither of our kids are old enough to be vaccinated yet. Otherwise, a great stay.

This hotel is located right next to downtown Historic Hannibal. Our room had an amazing view of the River & Riverboat. There's several stores, restaurants, and museums within walking distance. We rarely had to drive to get anywhere. The pool was nice, but the hot tub was the best. Biggest hot tub I've ever been in. This will definitely be our go to hotel on our next visit.

This hotel will receive mixed reviews. Pros: The pool and hot tub were clean, well kept, and appreciated. In our party, one room was neat and comfortable. Another heater was broke and not as cleaned. The manager was very apologetic. Staff was overall very kind. Cons- parking lot is awful. Too little parking for the number of guest.

We are sorry the bed was not to your liking, we generally have guests calling back and asking for the name of mattress company and what model. The bed is a preference by each individual. One thing the bath towels were missing one and one that was there had mascara on it. Outside of that we found the dated hotel comfortable and clean. Front desk was accommodating and helped me with a hotel printer issue. Lovely lady, thank you. I did not get her name but she needs a raise.

We had two rooms for Chocolate Extravaganza weekend. The hotel is perfectly situated in the old downtown along the river. It is very well kept and very reasonably priced. It's not new, but very well kept. Clean with wifi, flat screen tvs, fridge and more. The staff is wonderful. When we checked in we asked for a river view. They had us set up in different rooms but moved us to two interconnected rooms with river views. We will definately stay here next trip.

We stopped here after traveling 4 hrs into a 12 hr trip with a 6 year old. This room was booked on a site that was extra for the breakfast. So if you book here breakfast is FREE for everyone. Do not pay extra for it. Then booked a room for 2 queen beds . We arrived later in the evening. Upon arriving in our room the light over the sink did not work. So we had to call the front desk to fix. Then after removing the top coverlet on the beds both quilts had spots on them. The front desk had to go to the basement for 1 quilt. So now, I have paid for 2 beds and only able to use 1 since apparently there was only 1 clean quilt around. We tried to use the pool. But was extremely cloudy, crowded with children rough housing, and pool area was really dirty. Also, no towels were available at the pool. Front desk said they had NO CLEAN TOWELS. NONE OF ANY KIND! We were told to go get the ones out of our rooms if we needed one. This hotel has a great view of the river. You are in a great location. But, it is dirty and ended up being way more expensive for what I got.

We are sorry that you booked with a online company who over charged you and charged you for breakfast, as this is not our doing. We have no idea when a light bulb will go out, and we are happy that our staff took care of that for you. We are sorry you felt as the room was dirty, as we could find nothing wrong with your room, or comforters. There were children in the pool and they do tend to have fun. You reported nothing to the front desk, where we could ask the parties to calm down. The front desk is located next to the pool, and it was not a problem. You did use the pool, other wise there would of been no need for a pool towel to dry yourself. Our pool is contracted out and the water levels are tested 2 times a day, and cleaned on a regular basis. We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. Again, we did not make your reservation, we do not know what you were charged and I would always call the hotel before I booked online and see what the rates are, as we do not charge for breakfast, and we will not over charge you. We loved the price, cleanliness, and location of the hotel. We will definitely stay here again! The hotel staff was great. The hotel had a nice contential breakfast. We could walk to bars, restaurants, and shops.

This hotel is one of the best. People are very accommodating. The review that was left by the travel musician or whoever he was definitely is not accurate. There were only about 16 people in the atrium eating pizza. If they was drinking I didn't see anything but soda but they weren't getting loud at all. They were just talking normally. There was only about 8 to 10 kids in the pool. When I had to go back out to my car at 9 everyone was already out of the pool. When I was down there earlier they were laughing and playing, being kids. Quiet time is from 10pm to 8am. Anytime we have something that needs to be done to our room,they get it done asap. You have to tell the front desk so they know it needs to be addressed. Not post on line griping about it not getting done. We stay here a lot and they are always easy to work with and go out of their way to accommodate. I think you need to find a place that can live up to your standards. Good luck on that because it sounds like that place doesn't exist.

I have no idea why this hotel was so highly rated. It has a swimming pool in a large atrium lobby, but as far as I was concerned that was a liability. There were 30 or more wet screaming kids running around until 10 at night, along with all their unmasked parents. They were probably 100 people in the lobby not wearing masks drinking alcohol, etc. I have nothing against alcohol, but it makes them talk louder and they're spitting more. I wouldn't have liked this even if there weren't a pandemic, but under these conditions it was reprehensible. There was no sign anywhere in the building even suggesting that you should wear a mask. The place is in dire need of updating. Everything is old and dark, and the door of our bathroom was broken. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because the pool would be nice under normal circumstances, and it's a pretty good central location to the historic parts of Hannibal.

If your bathroom door was broken, why would you not inform the front desk that it was broken? We would have moved you or fixed the door. Instead, you decide to post on here, where no one can help to fix it. The guests in the atrium were never at 100, as we were not full for the weekend, and the kids were out of the pool at 8:55 pm without incident. We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. We hope you find a hotel that meets your needs, as we will no longer accommodate you.

My husband and I stayed here for a quick weekend getaway trip. The location could not be better. We walked everywhere. The rooms were nice and clean. The staff were very friendly. We will definitely return.

This hotel was nice. It was very clean and the location was PERFECT for if you're doing all the historic stuff in Hannibal, which we were. Weird placement of indoor pool, but it seemed to work. My one issue was the "fitness" room. If you're in to cardio, you'd probably be okay with it. The selection of dumbbells was old and pathetic. And not even a bench to use them on/with. Bummer. Selection for the "grab and go" breakfast was better than what else I've seen since COVID-19, but very carb heavy.

We thought this hotel was in a great location, but the trains coming through and sounding horns all night made us realize that the location was not that great. The staff was very friendly and the room was a generous size, but the bed was too hard and the pillows were uncomfortable. We would not stay here again.

Very clean & updated hotel w/ comfy beds, friendly staff; perfect location for walking around town. Good size indoor pool & hot tub were open but are located in open lobby area so it can get a bit noisy since this hotel is the "Embassy Suites" open inside hallway design. Rooms X01 thru X11 on all three floors of main building do not have windows to the outside, only to the open inside hallways. Lobby seating area is spaced out re: Covid-19 guidelines. Parking is tight and limited parking if you return late in the evening. 2nd & 3rd floor rear entrances from parking lot are very narrow and crowded w/ smokers (encouraged by bench and butt disposal), not good for non-smokers or social distancing for COVID-19. Brown bag breakfast was better than expected with fresh fruit, 3 cereals & milk in carton, yogurt fruit cup, packaged sweet roles, granola bar & coffee & hot water, juice. But juices are still dispensed by machine that you must touch and I didn't seen any directions stating you must hold down a small blue button next to the juice button so water is added to the concentrate in your cup. I saw quite a few disposed cups w/ just the concentrate in them so I wasn't the only one confused. The tables in the breakfast room were spaced out well but were not cleaned regularly or between guests when I was there. Unlike other hotels I've stayed, neither front desk gal was wearing a mask when I checked in & out (altho there is a plastic sheet barrier). I never saw anyone disinfecting the elevator buttons or other areas and no hand sanitizer by the elevators or rear entrances; however a small bottle is at the front desk. Nice hotel, but it's a hit or miss on the Covid-19 cleaning guidelines.

Thank you for your concerns on the COVID 19 guidelines. As the front desk is protected by a plastic encased desk, we wear the mask when we leave the protected desk area, then we wear our masks to again protect the guests and ourselves. I am sorry you did not see any of the tables being cleaned while you were in the breakfast room, nor while you are on the elevator. This is done routinely on every shift. We have 4 parking lots to accommodate our guest parking needs, and depending on the size of your vehicle, sometimes it seems to be a tight spot. You are correct, we do have smoking areas, for our smoking guests, as the inside of the hotel is smoke free. We have signs posted in the breakfast room, to use the hand sanitizer before touching any of the dispensers for coffee, juice, and the coolers with milk, water and yogurts. Thank you for letting future guests know, that even with this pandemic, we are offering a variety of choices. We are checking into the juice machine problem, thank you very much for letting us know. We are so glad you got a good nights sleep and noticed the hard work our housekeeping department puts in to make your room perfect. We would love to have you as a guest again, and hopefully sometime in the near future we can get back to some kind of normal, where we can see each other smile and still be healthy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The two person hot tub was just what we needed after our drive. Breakfast is a generously sized bag of grab and go, possibly the largest I have ever seen. Arrival angel Mari ensured we knew all we needed to know as we settled in. It's always lovely to be greeted by a sincere smile. An earlier review commented on noise. Quiet hours are honored here. Before that, we did hear children—but it's a hotel, and after quiet hours things were silent. We chose to have breakfast at Becky Thatcher's just down the block. Excellent choice. But honestly, you have to try the fried chicken across the street. Juicy with perfect sides.

COVID-19 Has truly had an impact on our traveling. We choose this location because of the precautionary COVID steps they said that they were taking. The front desk has plastic up, though once many times we saw staff walking around without masks. Most customers staying there wore masks some times. Our room was clean (we wiped everything down). Breakfast is NOT as it once was; very little protein LOTS of carbs. We stayed in room 318 beautiful view of the river. but has a really loud sounds in the middle of the night. Would we picked somewhere else to say? More than likely not. Location perfect. Want a good breakfast just down the street. Front desk staff were friendly and tried to be helpful. I did use the exercise room, it was fine. I guess, it would have had celerity how things really are being handled during the virus. Staff not wearing PEP leaves customers confused. Then again, it sounds like the Governor of Missouri didn't make it clear about the importance of masks, etc.

My husband and I booked this hotel for a weekend to get away. We were so impressed with the property, the cost, and the service we stayed again the next weekend. The second stay completely exceeded our expectations. They upgraded our room at no cost and everything was super clean, comfortable and quiet considering the hotel seemed booked heavily that weekend. Plenty of towels and amenities, too. We've paid far more at other hotels for less accommodations than this Best Western. We can't wait to go back!!

Great location to alot of History, resturants, ole fashion Shops with unigue items from your childhood bringing back warm gentle feelings and memories. Great Location! It was nice to be able to walk to everything. Bed was Very comfortable. Mary at the front desk was also friendly and personable. Only problem was the pool was freezing and one night people were drinking in the hot tub had a case of beer with them so didn't want to stick around at the pool. Our bed was very comfortable. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because although it has been updated, there are still things that are kind of falling apart in the room. Plus the humidity from the pool makes the hallways pretty toasty. None of that took away from the comfort though. My room was clean. The thermostat kept the room cool. I was put in a room overlooking the river (the river is a couple of blocks down from the hotel, but it was still a nice view. If you don't like noise, bring a small fan because you will hear a lot of trains. :) The bed was very comfortable as well and I slept really well. Breakfast is grab and go during Covid. They have a decent selection. Not hot foods for the time being, but that was made clear on their website. The outdoor pool was very nice. If you are in the main building you have to walk across the street to get to it, but the road isn't too busy. The staff were all friends. Big shout-out to Mary! On my first morning I failed to note that breakfast ended at 9:30 and I came down as she was turning off the light to close the breakfast area. She was kind enough to let me grab a couple of things. Then I forgot my travel case in the room when I checked out. Within 20 minutes she called me to let me know that they had my case and I was able to go pick it up. Overall a very nice stay!

I called while traveling North. The front desk person, Mary was very cordial and accommodating. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I wish the tv guide would have worked but that was the only issue on an otherwise nice stay.

Hotel is in a very convenient location, but if you're concerned about how seriously hotel staff take your safety amidst COVID-19 then pick another hotel. None of the staff at the front desk or housekeeping wear masks. They don't make any of their guests wear masks either, which I acknowledge is a no-win situation for any hotel staff. But you can make your staff wear masks...like it says on your website pledge to protect guest safety But this location does not. Saw two housekeepers go into our room to start cleaning and neither was wearing a mask. All the guests getting Grab and Go food for breakfast refused to wear masks and have no idea what social distancing means. 20 people crowded into the hot tub last night too. No masks of course (not expected) but need to limit spa to maybe 8 people for social distancing. Hotel pool is in lobby but they close it at 9 pm so the noise wasn't a problem at all. Hotel is a bit worn down and more on the "Super 8" or "Days Inn" level of comfort, but the location was perfect.

The best part about the hotel is it's location. The staff is friendly and helpful. I'm not sure about all the rooms but the one I was in needed maintenance ac struggled to keep the room at a comfortable temp and mini fridge kept things kinda chilled then there's the parking...... not enough room mainly due to them allowing truck and trailers to park in there lot. Would I stay again yes only due to the location

The Hotel is awkwardly located on a hill, has very little parking, the outdoor pool is located across the street at a different building from the indoor pool. Parking spaces are very narrow and on a steep incline. The indoor pool is right in the middle of the lobby area, so the lobby is humid. There was a sign posted at the gate notifying everyone, no more than 8 guest in the pool at a time, yet while I was in the pool with my 2 children there came to be about 20 in the pool area at a time. 3 young kids came into the pool area, read the sign and said out loud "we are family, this doesn't pertain to us". No one was monitoring this Covid Rule at all. The beds were smaller than what I have had at cheaper chains. The room was smaller than less costly hotel/motel chains. The hot breakfast that started at 6AM was burned and crusty looking by 7AM. Not a pleasant stay.

I am sorry, but there has been NO HOT BREAKFAST since t this hotel since the COVID 19 began it has all been grab & go bags. I do not know where you had breakfast at but it was not here. We have 4 different parking areas and a small incline on the smaller,north end. There has NEVER been 20 guests in the pool at one time since February 2020. You were in standard sized 2 queen bed room, we don't have anything smaller than that. The statements that you have made in this review are not accurate by a long shot. The pools are monitored on a daily basis because of the COVID 19. The families are not required to social distance. We do have indoor and outdoor pools, as well as 2 guests buildings. We are sorry that you had to write such a completely inaccurate review of this hotel. We hope you enjoy your less costly hotel/motel chain, as we will no longer be able to accommodate you here. I booked 3 days for my grandson's 24th Birthday he and his girlfriend just loved the BW . Very clean $ staff was very friendly. They rode the boat took in both caves. Drove to lovers leap & walked the 188 steps to the light house.

I travel with my husband and 2 kids and always enjoy Best Western on the River. It's been remodeled recently but is always clean and reliable. The breakfast saves a ton of money for my family and the pool and hot tub are always a good time. There are hotels a little cheaper nearby but they are NOT within walking distance so that's why this one is slightly more - worth it to visit shops and enjoy Downtown Hannibal. We've been going for years and we really enjoy it. The staff is also friendly. The allow you to visit in the lobby as long as you're respectful and not disruptive to guests. We've utilized this hotel many times for their conference room and we really enjoy the time together. Some family chooses Quality Inn because of the rate but it's far from Downtown and inconvenient for site-seeing.The rooms are the most comfortable from any hotel in it's class as well.

We loved this downtown Hannibal Hotel!!! The check-in lady was SO nice!! Our room was clean and so comfortable, love the bed!! Nice pool and hot tub too!! We had a view of the river,.....beautiful!! Staff recommended the LaBinnah Bistro to eat (just 4 blocks from Hotel),....go here to eat!!! AMAZING food and staff!!! The free breakfast was very good too!! Great price room for AARP people!! The workers here are extra friendly. The hotel is in decent shape. But when we came back in the evening of our first day there, our bed was unmade and all the towels and wash clothes had been removed from our room (no clean ones/no dirty ones). The desk's response was, "Sorry about that." We did get fresh towels, but this is a terrible lack of service.

To start it's a really nice hotel. I reserved a king jacuzzi suite for 2 days. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a nice indoor pool and hot tub. Almost everything is in walking distance. My room was a little odd shaped like it was a last minute idea. The jacuzzi was a big triangular tub big enough for 2. The only downfall I could say is the free breakfast. It was a little cold and the hashbrowns were undercooked. I will definitely be booking this hotel again this year.

The hotel has been renovated and looks really good. Our room was clean and tidy, including the bathroom. Breakfast was great and the staff was wonderful. There were a few concerns about why I couldn't give a perfect score. My biggest problem was the bathroom ventilation, in that we couldn't shower without turning the entire room into a sauna, so we had to keep the window open which is super fun in February. Also, the beds are very firm in a stiff board, no give sort of way. It made sleeping incredibly difficult. Other than that, everything else was great. If we ever come back to Hannibal, we will probably stay here.

I was in Hannibal for 3 nights for a training. I was looking forward to staying at a hotel for peace and quiet as I was staying by myself. There were way too many annoyances for me to mark this as a great weekend. There Is minimal parking often resulting in parking in an alley (not the best with no lights and being alone) or across the street. My first impression of the building was that it appeared neat and clean; however, when you took a second look it was rundown. The check-in staff was very nice and friendly. I noticed the pool located in the lobby and didn't think anything of it at first. I opened the door (which was the farthest room away from lobby next to exterior door) and there was a noticeable odor and heat with a temp set at 76 but i was too tired to care. The room looked decent; however, if you looked closer, there was what appeared to be water stained wallpaper, Cracks along ceiling and walls, and other areas needing attention. Furniture was showing wear. The bathroom was small and the toilet actually rocked when you sat on it. Breakfast was an experience in blandness and lack. There was no staff taking care of the area. Items were in low supply and people were left to their own devices. I often helped other residents and I don't even work there. Walls are thin as I slept with tv on to drown out the neighbor's snores. Second and third night I couldn't even attempt to study with the outrageous echos of 20 plus kids screaming-chanting-yelling in the pool often clear past 10pm. It was like sleeping in a gymnasium at a championship game. I recognize other residents hold no bearing on the hotel however enforcing quiet time at the said time was in their control and just having a pool in an open area that echoed throughout the halls is a terrible design. I come back for more training and I will be staying else where. Do not stay if traveling alone, looking for a peaceful stay, expecting a decent breakfast, and an easy, safe, and accessible parking lot. I paid $89 for three nights and felt I overpaid. I'd rather pay three times the amount for one safe and peaceful stay. Note to self: no hotels with indoor pool in an open area. Moving rooms isn't even an option.

We are sorry we did not meet your expectations. If you stayed with us, you were informed that we had an annual swim meet here over the weekend. All of the statements you provided in this review, are not correct. The breakfast room is attended during all of the hours that breakfast is available, with the exception of going back and forth to keep the buffet filled. We did close the pool at 9 pm every night, and not at 10 as you stated. the quiet time begins at 10 pm, and not at 8 pm, when you called the front desk. It is posted all over the hotel, and it is enforced at the appropriate times. On Friday evening, there were only 5 children in the pool, so there was no yelling and screaming echoing in the building, as most of the guests did not check in until the pool was closing. On Saturday night, at 7:30 pm the guests were in the pool and they were asked to quiet down, and they did, instantly. There is lighting in the back parking lot, as we are built into a hill, there has to be a road to get to it. At any time, you could have asked to be moved, as we offered you a room in our 2nd building and you declined. At any time you could have informed the front desk that you were not happy with your room, you did not. We hope that you will be able to find a hotel that will take care of all your needs, as well will not be able to. Safe travels and good luck

I stopped by Hannibal for a couple of days, and remembered this hotel as one I'd stayed at before. They gave me a nice, basic room directly overlooking the Mark Twain Diner and the river. I then found that the room had windows that fully open, which I love, even in a Missouri January! The only problem is that the train tracks are just past the diner, and the trains blare their horns all night long, and they are LOUD! So I ended up having to close the windows anyway (and the windows being closed made a huge difference in the loudness of the trains). Also, their pool is a little bit strange in that it's located basically in the lobby of the hotel, with all of the rooms around its perimeter, so the smell of chlorine was noticeable, although not overpowering (I don't know if I'd feel the same way if I was the desk worker working just a few feet away eight hours a day, though :-). The room was clean, as was the hotel in general. I would stay again, especially knowing that their windows open.

We enjoyed our view of the river even though it was quite foggy. The room was huge and the beds were comfortable. The parking lot is tight but the restaurant across the street was very convenient for late night eating. Trains ran off and on during the night which could be disturbing but we enjoyed the sounds.

The layout of the hotel is perfect for a large group. The rooms are organized around the indoor pool and large socializing area so everyone feels like they are close together even on different floors. Kids enjoyed the pool and the adults could watch from a distance!

Although a bit dated, thd Best Western Hannibal was very clean and in a great location, just a block away from the Main St shops. Friendly staff too. The pool right in the lobby was a bit unusual, but would be lots of fun for kids, and easy for parents to supervise.

The Best Western hotel in Hannibal, MO was conveniently located in the old town area of Hannibal. We were in walking distance from all the downtown historic sites, shopping and eating and drinking. The hotel breakfast was great, as is in all Best Western hotels. The indoor pool was warm, better than most pools in the winter.

We spent one night. It was in a great location . You could walk all around the historic area of Hannibal and right across from the Mark Twain Dinette. Building could use an update. It looks pretty dated and needs refreshed. Our room had a little peeling wallpaper and dingy ceiling. However overall it appeared to be clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast had lots of choices. Food was barely warm but the restocked and that batch was a little warmer.

We have come to depend on Best Western locations during our travels and this one didn't disappoint. We were just traveling through so we didn't see any of the Hannibal sights. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was a little firmer than we like but that is just our preference. We were in the main building with the indoor pool right outside our door. I thought it might be a problem because we could hear playing and splashing but the pool closes at 9:00 and and promptly at 9:05, the noise ceased. After that it was a quiet night. There is a local restaurant that will deliver food right to the room. We had already eaten when we arrived but you may want to ask for a menu if you don't want to go back out. We didn't see the river from our room but I noticed from other reviewers you can ask for a river view room. Check in and out was easy. Maybe next time we are traveling through, we can explore the neat little town.

The name says on the river. That must have been during the 100 year flood cause the building is on 3rd street, 3 streets uphill from the river. View from the room was great. Mari at front desk is a hoot. Just a great personality and very helpful. She makes you feel like family. Interesting architecture. Elevator in middle of building. Rooms surround an open atrium like experience. On one side of the elevator is the pool and on the other side is the lobby open area adjacent to the breakfast area. It's like a giant indoor pool with rooms surrounding the pool on 3 levels. Our room looked out on the river. Just a nice surprise and excellent breakfast.

We were in Hannibal for an event at Hannibal Lagrange University and chose this property for the river view. They put is in the newer building and we had a great river view. The front desk staff was friendly and on top of details. The room was super clean and the property was fairly quiet. The main building had a lot of families with kids because of the indoor pool. This is a standard hotel, the walls are a little thin, but we always travel with earplugs (if you travel at all, earplugs are a must). The locations was perfect for exploring the Mark Twain sites. We visited the Mark Twain brewery and the food and beer were very good. Overall, would definitely stay here again.

Excellent location close to historic downtown. Friendly staff. Rented two rooms for weekend. The hotel consists of two buildings. Our rooms were located in the old section with pool. Room was dusty, bathroom smelled, no glasses on bathroom sink, no hand lotions, horrible internet, and below average breakfast. However, we did not complain to staff. I do not recommend staying at this hotel; at least not in older section.

This hotel is located at the edge of town, which almost everything is within walking distance from the hotel, but it is located in town, though. Very clean hotel. Parking is a little rough, as we had to park at the annex of the hotel, across the street. No huge deal, though. Breakfast was better than at most hotels, Don't know if we will be this way ever again, but we would definitely stay here. didn't get to use the pool, but looked very nice.

We were in Hannibal for our nieces wedding. We have stayed at least 3 times at this hotel and have not been disappointed. Beds were extremely comfortable. Was clean and the staff has always been very courteous and helpful. It is right downtown and steps from shopping and food. We will stay here again when we are in Hannibal.

We took our Granddaughter, she is a big fan of Samuel Clemens and all his stories. The rooms are nice, clean, easy to get to, it had a pool we didn't use, were too busy sightseeing. The staff were very helpful, nice, gave us many places to go visit, the town people were very helpful also.

this room had a jacuzzi in it, we injoyed it very much, it is close to every thing if you can walk. parking was a challange after dark (we did the haunted tour) that was interesting. pool looked good it was indoor. we got up to late to take advantage of breakfast

While this hotel is in a great location, the service received was horrible. Our son forgot an item in the room. We reported it to the hotel by phone call and by stopping back by before we left town. The front desk refused to check the room, said that if it had not been found by housekeeping, then too bad. New people had checked in and they would not call the room to ask and told our son he was rude to think that he could go knock on the door and ask for them to check for the item. We reported this on the Best Western survey and the canned email response said that we had not reported our problem to the front desk and that it is the guest's problem if they leave something in the room (and we agree, it is our responsibility if we forget something) but to outright lie and say we had not reported the problem. That is ridiculous. We LOVE the Best Western brand, but this one misses the mark BIG time.

Our housekeeping department returns everything that is found in a guest room that was left behind. There was no phone charger left in the room. When an item has been left in the room, we do call the guests, and ask what the guest if they are still in the area to pick up the item, or what would they like us to do. Historic Downtown Hannibal is an interesting, laid-back place to spend a couple of days if you're interested in the life and works of Samuel Clemens. Best Western on the River is a solid hotel choice for the visit. The hotel is conveniently located for most of the sights and a nice selection of restaurants and shops. The hotel has an indoor pool for the kids, but my room was quiet throughout my stay. My room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. There was a decent selection of TV channels also. I had a non-refundable reservation through Priceline. Due to some personal issues, I had to cancel. Priceline didn't want to give me a refund, but the hotel talked to Priceline for me and approved the refund. Great Service by Mary! After my issues were resolved a few days later, I re-booked and made my trip. There were a couple of things that made me rate a 4 vs a 5. First, the internet in my room was very spotty. It would disconnect randomly, which was frustrating. Second, the breakfast wasn't very good. The eggs were just OK, and the sausage was very dry. Overall, I would recommend this hotel, and I would stay here again.

The location is good being downtown. You can walk to everything that there is to see without having to drive alot. There is a good place to eat just across the street from the hotel. The room was fairly clean but could of been better. Had coffee stains on end tables by the bed. The chair in the room had stains all over it that we didn't even try to sit in it. Two of the lights the bulbs were burnt out, which left the room kind of dark. The eggs were over cooked and then put into the warming table made them turn into rubber not eggs. Room we had did have a good veiw of the downtown and river. If they redo the hotel and inprove the breakfast they could get a 5 rating.

I stay at this Best Western Riverfront hotel each time I visit Hannibal. I get a room with a view of the Mississippi river and great breakfast every morning. They're always friendly. It is just two blocks from the river and right next to the shopping district.

Check in staff were extremely helpful and very friendly, even though my autistic daughter was being a handful. We were right smack in the heart of the historic district, with Mark Twain's home just a hundred feet from the front door of the hotel!

Showed up at the hotel and they couldn't find our reservation. Nevertheless, they found us a room. The room we got was right next to the back door going into the parking lot. It was a little noisy at times with people coming in and out. The door to our room didn't close automatically. A couple of times we started out and noticed that we were leaving the door standing open. The interior of the hotel and our room was very dated. But, the room was clean and the shower was the best shower pressure I've had in awhile. There was also a lack of electrical outlets. Had to move the coffee maker from the table where there were no available outlets to a bedside table to be able to make coffee. This hotel is in a convenient location to all the downtown sites and the landing where the Mark Twain cruise is.

It has too many rooms and not enough parking space, in two different buildings. It was labor day steampunk weekend and was sold out. It is ugly in appearance, and is worn and needs a makeover. Staff was great. Very nice people. The location is good to explore downtown Hannibal. The typical hotel breakfast featured the worst scrambled eggs I have ever tasted. I don't know how they could make them taste this bad.

We came for the Steampunk Festival at the Mark Twain historic district, and could see it from our room, easy walking distance. Very comfy beds and good hot breakfast in the morning. We will stay here again next time.

The location of the hotel is quite convenient to all of the Hannibal attractions—all within easy walking distance. Its room prices are fair. Hotel could use some refurbishing. Breakfast was just ok, but was free. Personnel were quite friendly and helpful.

the hotel is right in town, within walking of everything. the hotel pool hours are not good 9am to 9pm, should be open longer, the hot tub has no high speed jets and it was like bath water, with lots of foam, you could not see the bottom.

Nice & clean hotel. Nice view of the river and within walking distance to downtown. Room was very humid and damp, but comfortable. Did notice you can hear everything outside and from the main part of the hotel. They have quiet time at 10:00 p.m. and it was enforced! Breakfast was good. Would stay here again.

This property has a convenient location within walking distance of downtown sights and sites for which one is attracted to visit Hannibal. There are two buildings, the main one having the river view. Motorcycle parking is available, and suggested, at the front door of the main building The staff is pleasant and efficient. We had a third floor river view room that we found to be very nice, clean and comfortable. There was plenty of hot water and the sink and shower drains worked properly--- no clogging, no ankle deep water! Breakfast was very good with a variety of hot and cold offerings and the breakfast area was much larger than in many other hotels we've stayed. The rooms in the main building open onto the lounge and pool areas, but pool hours end at 10PM so that noise from that area is not a concern. Restaurants, museums, shops and river front all within walking distance provided a very pleasant couple of days for us. To sum up: nice room, clean, good price, attentive staff, plenty of hot water, ample breakfast all combine to make this a recommended place to visit.

My experience here was awful. My room key wouldn't work, even after being reset at the front desk. Each time, I had to ride the slow elevator down to the main floor and talk to the desk clerk. The door had a metal plate to cover a crack from where the door had been forced open previously. Even the front desk clerk had to try several times. I suggested to the clerk that another room would be nice as he tried to open the door. He had to hold down the handle and kick the bottom area of the door at the same time to get it to open. I was afraid if I left my room I wouldn't be able to get back in, so I stayed in there the rest of the night. It wasn't even the correct type of room I had booked. When I brought this to his attention I was told that I had been 'upgraded' from a one queen bed to a double bed room. The floor had some type of brown gunk spot between the beds. The room smelled like a decaying salad (thankfully I travel with a small can of Lysol spray). I moved the stuffed chair in front of the door as added safety (though I doubt anyone would have been able to get in) and there were two small, oval white pills on the floor!! Glad I wasn't traveling with a small child or dog! Wallpaper was peeling and bubbled in a few corners. I took some pictures to show the desk clerk in the morning at check out. I didn't want to interact with the one on duty anymore. I was so frustrated and it was getting late so I decided to try and get some sleep. Ha ha! If you like the sound of trains whistling loudly throughout the night, then this location is the place to stay, after all it's located a few blocks from the Mississippi River, where train tracks are alongside. (I hadn't thought that through before booking.) I wish I would have put my foot down and demanded a refund and drove to another hotel chain along Hwy 36. I got up early and decided to skip going to the breakfast area and to just proceed with checking out and returning my room key. I told the clerk of my disappointment and showed her the pictures. She asked for my card and was processing a refund transaction. I didn't know how much, she didn't say, so I assumed for the amount of my stay. Nope! It was a refund of $21.38. At least I got that back. I was exhausted and just wanted to get on with my day so I left peacefully. I filled out the hotel email survey about my stay a few days later and received a generic "We apologize that you didn't like your stay" Best Western form letter email reply.

Well-located in Hannibal, within walking distance of shops and restaurants, Not really "on the river," but we could see it from our room. Interesting and unusual layout, with indoor pool basically in lobby. There is a jacuzzi, too, as well as an outdoor pool. Room was clean and quiet. good A/C. Had a big, cold fridge. Included breakfast was typical free hotel breakfast, with a waffle maker. I would stay here again if I was in Hannibal due to location and value.

Took a quick trip to Hannibal. Selected this hotel because it had indoor and outdoor pools and it was BW. The hotel was nice and everyone was very friendly. The breakfast had some issues but there was a good selection of items to choose from. Our room was nice and the beds were clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Mari was great in sorting out our reservation and Tony did a nice job providing us breakfast. Our room was spacious, clean and located in the new building. This hotel is not on the river but about two to three blocks off the river. We could see the Mississippi River from our room window. You have to cross a busy highway to get to the downtown area. And there does not appear to be a crosswalk. They should have a crosswalk with flashing lights. The Mark Twain house and museum is just a block away. Breakfast was just so so. Not much healthy fare. Did not get fresh fruit. And they provided us with disposable plates and plastic utensils which all create unnecessary trash. Would we stay here again? Yes. And I would bring my own fresh fruit.

This is a nice updated hotel near the downtown area. It is close the the shops and museums. You can see the river from the hotel. The hot breakfast was good. It is an overall nice place to stay. The indoor pool and hot tub are centrally located and easily accessible.

Their are a lot of noisy kids in the lobby or pool. There is a strong chlorine smell in the lobby and the room from the pool in the lobby. The check in was good and the attendants were friendly. The motel is nonsmoking but our room smells a little smoky. It is moderately clean. I don't think I will stay here on the return trip.

We try to do our best to make our guests happy and we apologize. Our pool closes at 9pm, we try to keep the noise level down, if you do notice the chlorine smell you could request the annex building with the outdoor pool. All those rooms look out onto the downtown and Mississippi River. We thank you for your business.

Room was clean. Staff friendly. We were in the newer section on the south side in front of the pool. The pool was great except for some local visitors (not from the hotel). The water temp was perfect to cool off in the July heat. The pool was clean.

Standard rooms, clean but very humid. AC was cold enough, just very humid. All rooms open into a central courtyard that is divided into two spaces by the center walkway/elevator column. One side has an indoor pool and hot tub, the other an open seating area adjacent to the breakfast room. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable and bathroom was adequate. This is not a 5star hotel but it didn't cost like in either. Having said that I did not think any hotel we looked at in Hannibal was inexpensive for what they offered. Big plus is location to the tourist sites associated with Mark Twain, just across the street. We easily walked to Main Street for the sites and to eat. Am breakfast was standard and included. If doing the sites again would stay, I assume the humidity was because it couldn't keep up with the July heat.

The location of the property is fantastic for taking advantage of this delightful, historic town and all things Mark Twain. Hannibal was my Midwest trip Gem because of our stay, great meal at LaBinnah Bistro, Rockcliff Mansion tour and all things Mark Twain! The Hotel is accessible for mobility impaired as most chains are. The breakfast was satisfactory and I'm sure a good value for families. I would love to visit Hannibal again and will return to the Best Western.

We only stayed 1 night. We got in 9pm. We quickly got on our swim suits and walked over to the main building only to be told the pool closed at 9pm. We were so disappointed. Every hotel we have stayed at in the pass 20 years the pools have closed at 10 or 11pm. This is the 1st time one has closed so early. As seniors we swim and use hot tubs to relieve our muscles after a long day of touring. This helps us relax and sleep better. Other that the pool closing that early the hotel itself is quite nice. If you don't plan on using a pool this is a nice hotel to use.

Don't let the name fool you, it's not on the river! It would be a 5 star if it was! Great staff. Very clean room. Room 130 had 2 queen beds, walk in shower. Only problem here was the breakfast. The eggs and gravy had a plastic taste and was inedible! Very unusual for a BW! Why has BW gone to refrigerators with no freezer? Not good for travelers with coolers and freezer packs! Internet worked good.

I probably wouldn't stay here again. I have family in Hannibal but since there was 5 of us, opted for a hotel. Chose this one for it's proximity to downtown. It was not as clean as I would like. Very hot and humid outside your room as the pool was open to the building, not a separate space.

Every effort has been made to take an outdated property and make it more viable. There was a nice larger flat screen TV along with a frig, microwave, iron and ironing board in the room. I was glad to see the safety handle in the bathroom to help get in and out of the tub. The room was exceptionally clean. It would have been nice to see the furniture updated but the bedding was first class. The pool and hot tub are really nice but their placement in the middle of the rather small hotel made for a bit of a noise problem. The free breakfast was very good but the choice was somewhat limited. There was an obvious lack of fresh fruit. I stayed there on a holiday weekend and the price for the room was high to the point of being in competition with 4 or 5 star rated hotels but I am not sure what the pricing would be on a non-holiday stay. Over-all I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and it's location puts you right in the heart of "Tom Sawyer/Huck Finn" heaven.

I was looking forward to staying here after the reviews; however, this was not the case. The hotel is in a good location for seeing the downtown sites and the river; however, it has minimal parking at the main building with the majority of the parking in the lot next door and it was very steep. Our first impression of the building was that it appeared neat and clean; however, when you took a second look it was rundown. The check-in staff was very nice and friendly. I wish I could say the same for the day staff. Our room was on the 2nd floor mid way down the hall. We opened the door and there was a noticeable odor, but we were too tired to care. The room looked decent; however, if you looked closer, there was what appeared to be water stained wallpaper, dirty window sills, and other areas needing attention. Furniture was showing wear. The bathroom was small and the toilet actually rocked when you sat on it. Both sides of the toilet had large patches of blue tape on it. The last straw to our room experience was when we had a cockroach crawl across the desk while we were sitting there. We caught it and took it downstairs the next morning (as it was late when this happened) and the desk clerk's response was "Oh, what room are you in?" No apologies or anything. Breakfast was an experience in blandness and lack. There was no staff taking care of the area. It appears that most of the staff was hanging out at the front desk chatting. Items were in low supply and people were left to their own devices. People mentioned fresh cookies and coffee; however, there were none when we were there. This is the only "chain" hotel located within walking distance of the historic section of Hannibal. We paid $140.00 for this hotel and do not feel the quality of the hotel was adequate enough to warrant this rate, but for location. The fitness center in the annex contained 3 TV's but only had one remote control to operate those three hotels. The treadmill machines did not contain instructions as to how to operated them. This critique may sound petty, but when paying a premium price for the room we expect more. Now for the positive things this hotel offered. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The breakfasts' served contained a large variety of food items and are open from 6:30-9:30 daily. The rooms were clean and as stated before, the motel is located within walking distance of the historic old town of Hannibal.

3 floors of Large rooms surrounding a swimming pool/hot tub situated in the center of the building. Nice lobby. Fresh cookies for the guests. Friendly welcome and hotel is within walking distance of main attractions. There is an elevator. Rooms are large but could use better lighting. Bathroom seems slightly small. Maybe that's because the door just barely clears the toilet. Beds are good and linens are nice. Fridge and microwave included.

A clean, quiet room made for a pleasant stay. PARKING TIP: park in the left lot as you are facing the front of the building. This is the bigger lot. If you park in the small lot you will need to walk up hill with your suitcases.

The view I had from my room was wonderful on the 3rd floor (top floor) facing the River. The room was great, wifi worked and free breakfast was very good. There were trains going by all night but that is not the hotels problem.

The minute you walk in the door it smells like the YMCA because there is an indoor pool in the middle of the lobby! So the first thing you smell is Chlorine and humidity. The pool is surrounded by all of the rooms so if you choose to swim you will not have much privacy. The rooms are very clean and spacious with up-to-date TVs Internet etc. However the rooms are a bit worn. The cushions on the sofa in front of the television were very beat up and the dresser that the TV stood on it was quite scratched up but otherwise the room was very sufficient.

Nice hotel but you are smacked in the face with chlorine due to the indoor pool and hot tub. Room was extremely clean and smelled great. The hot tub had no power to the jets as most were broken. The pool and hot tub close at 9:00PM which was fine seeing our room faced it. Breakfast room was very clean.

Stayed here in our way back up north from Florida. After driving 13.5 hours we decided to stop in Hannibal. Seemed like kind of a sketchy area but, we though we'd Chance it. It's an older building but our room was clean and the gal at the front desk was helpful. Not much for restaurants near by, but there was a brewpub within a couple blocks. All in all it was an ok stay for a reasonable price.

From the moment I entered to check in I felt welcome and appreciated. I was greeted with a smile and the attitude that they were happy to see me and glad I was there. Would have loved to use the indoor pool but it was already covered along with the hot tub. Breakfast was great and surprisingly well made. I would have given them 5 Stars but having to park on the street because of no parking loses them a "star". I would definitely stay here again.

We had lots of issues with this stay, given a room with People already in it. Kids over running the pool, 4 days of breakfast meals all identical. Plumbing went out in the tub on last day (no water). No apologies!!

this hotel is in historic Hannibal Missouri, not too far from the Mississippi river. the lobby is very nice, the front desk personnel quite friendly and the room was very clean with a comfortable bed. the bathroom was a bit small. I wish there was better lighting in the room.

It's a great hotel! The layout is a bit strange with the pool being almost in the centre of the building but strange in a good way in my opinion. It's different. It's not exactly a modern hotel but it's full of character. I loved my stay and i would return and recommend it. It's clean, quiet and it's in prime location.

I am so amazed with everyone that works here. They are friendly and so accommodating making sure that every guest has the best experience. I would highly recommend this hotel not only for it amenities but also because of the location walking distance to the beautiful downtown area.

The location just by the entrance into town and overlooking the River invites to estay at this hotel. It is as comfortable as can be expected of the chain. The rooms are spacious and clean and breakfast is good and plentiful. Coffee is available all day and parking and wi.fi are free. All amenities of Hannibal are within an easy stroll and hotel personnel were kind to provide information. Having the pool indoor by the main lobby and the rooms around it could be problem when kids are visiting during the busy tourist season.

Nice clean hotel walking distance to many Hanibal attractions and restaurants. Breakfast is included and was much more than the usual cereal and bagels. Front desk staff was very helpful and made great dinner suggestions. The town is fun and should not be missed!

First of all, the room and the overall facility was very clean. Second, it is located within walking distance of most of the interesting attractions in Hannibal. Third, the employees we encountered during the stay could not have been nicer. Overall, had a great feel, reminiscent of the places we stayed at when I was a kid in the 70's. We enjoyed staying here. It is very close to the old downtown. Or is a short walk to the Mark Twain Brewpub. It is also close to downtown shopping, bars and restaurants. Good breakfast in the hotel. The desk clerks are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again.

Sky and parking lot fill most of the picture. But there is a sliver of the river in there. Hotel was fairly quiet even though there is a very busy road outside your window. Lastly the pool is indoors in the middle of the building making it rather warm inside. Food was GREAT, service was GREAT, room was above average and clean

This hotel was located within walking distance of restaurants and shops. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I was amazed at how quiet the room was as I could not hear the guests next door, closing doors nor outside noise. The guest gathering area near the lobby was very large and open and well furnished. The entire staff was incredible from check in to check out. The location of the hotel was great for us. We walked to almost everything we wanted to see and do in Hannibal. There were a couple occasions we drove to a places that were a farther than we wanted to walk. But getting around the area wasn't difficult because it was only a few miles and my niece was in the back seat with her Google maps app giving my sister turn by turn driving instructions.We had a 3rd floor room which gives you the option of using an outer door to access more parking and a small balcony which gives you a view of the Mississippi River. The weather was almost perfect while we were there. Sitting on the small balcony in the evening was a joy.Since the entire hotel is non-smoking, you can sit on the small balcony, enjoy the view and have a smoke. First thing in the morning you will have the sun directly in you face.The only problem we had was with the door to our room. It stuck. We had problems getting in and out. I spoke to the desk clerk about it and as we were going to do some sightseeing, she had some one work on the door while we were out. It did not totally alleviate the problem but it was better.

Our group was in a separate building from the main building so it was quiet, except for the trains early on and the riverboat horn, but stopped in late pm. the staff was NOT accommodating and did not answer questions very well. Of course they had 2 other buses of teenage football players in their building, so maybe that was part of their problem.

Pool hours are not good. Closing at 9:00pm is too early to accomodate families. Other area hotels had pool hours until 11:00 pm. My family staying at other hotels, called this one the "Retirement Hotel" with its strict pool closing and quiet time signs posted everywhere. Will certainly stay at other hotels with better pool hours for families.

We arrived late on a Friday night to the main hotel. The desk staff were very nice and gave directions to the annex. Had to use a key to get in. Yay for good security. Our room is on first floor. Even with it being a older hotel the staff was exceptional and professional. The room was extremely clean and very comfortable, with an indoor pool and hot tub. It was obvious the hotel had done updates in the last few years. It was easy to get to off the highways and close to downtown area.

This motel is just a couple of blocks from the river. Right downtown Hannibal so close to restaurants and the river walk. Room was excellent and staff very helpful. Only possible problem is the limited size of the parking lot. And no room to expand. Small indoor pool.

We came to Hannibal for the Annual Big River Stealpunk Festival on Labor Day weekend. This was our second stay at this property. Room was comfrotable and pleasant (although at least one or two brighter lamps would be helpful in the rooms on the backside, 1st floor as there is no natural light). Outside is newer and more updated than the inside. "Non-smoking" hotel but has multiple smoking areas adjacent to building so it smells outside and smoke drifts in the windows - be careful which room you have! Still, would stay again. Best location of major hotels in Hannibal - convenient to river and all the attractions. Staff provided excellent service when I asked to modify my reservation.

Our previous stays were better than this one. Areas did not seem as clean as past stays. The pool area was not clean. Found a bandaid floating in the pool and hair barrettes around on the floor. Usually we did enjoy the pool, but not this time.

I had a group of 40 senior adults on a motor coach tour stay at the BW On the River in Hannibal, MO. We all stayed together in their newly built "annex" building. It was extremely nice and convenient. It has its own breakfast area and allowed all of us to stay close to each other rather than in two buildings. The property is clean and safe and one block from historic main street of Hannibal. I will always stay at this property when I am in Hannibal, personally or with my groups.

My family including three teenagers, a Gramie, an aunt and a girlfriend stayed here in August. We asked and were given adjoining rooms. It was very nice to be able to get to each other's room without going into the Hall. The rooms were clean and the location was excellent to walk around. We walked to a pub at the recommendation of the desk staff and we were not disappointed. We walked around Hannibal and saw the famous Tom Sawyerr fence and their statute. We walked to a lighthouse and have ice cream and then had a short walk back to the hotel. Fine stay. There was a pool and breakfast. Parking was free. We enjoyed our time there.

We met some friends in the Best Western Hotel. The hotel looked very nice and and newer. The Hotel does have a weird layout though. There is an indoor pool and Jacuzzi that all of the rooms look down on! It is weird and leads to an excessive amount of noise that comes up to the rooms.We asked and the employees told us that a remodel had just happened. We joined our friends as they had their continental breakfast. Which looked pretty good. I would stay here !

This Best Western is right int he middle of the town of Hannibal. It's easy to park your can once and walk all around town. Our room was spacious and clean. Great bathroom. Connecting rooms. Refrigerator in room. The pool was in the middle of the lobby - a bit strange and it created a weird smell in the lobby/attrium. The place needs an air change. Check in desk staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good.

This is our second stay at this BW. We have had great experiences both times. Clean rooms, staff is great and the location is great. We enjoy the fact that we can park the bike and walk to the river front and have dinner at the Mark Twain Brewey and enjoy great beers.

We have stayed here several times and recommend this hotel for its friendly staff, favorable decor and nice accommodations. The interior courtyard appearance is charming and there are two pools, one inside and one outside. There is a nice breakfast in a good sized room. The parking lot is a little crowded and challenging, but this is probably mainly because the hotel is on a hill. Best of all you can walk to the historical area, the river boat dock, the brewery and the quaint downtown. Competing properties are several miles west on US36 making Best Western on The River a unique choice.

Great place to stay your a few steps away from the strip & river the room was clean bed was soft and very comfy. Parking one the other hand was very tight but they have 2 parking lots so u should be able to find a spot I'll stay here again that's for sure

Nice location, walking distance to downtown and several restaurants. Right near the Mississippi River. Be careful crossing the road in front of the hotel as there is no crosswalk and some drivers did not slow down for pedestrians.

We stayed two nights as part of a Mississippi River road trip. The hotel is in convenient walking distance of most everything in Hannibal. The accomodations are comfortable and the breakfast is good. Our only complaint was that because the indoor pool is in the middle of the hotel is closes at 9pm and the humidity from it made everything in the surrounding rooms feel damp.

Room was close to the pool and on the lower floor. The lobby had a ramp rather than stairs which was nice. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable. Would definitely choose to stay here next time. Very close to the local attractions and walking distance to the river. The pool was wonderful!!. Warmer than most and central in the hotel. The facility overall was average, nothing noteworthy either to the positive or negative. The hotel has the definitive, though not overpowering, smell of chlorine thanks to the small, indoor pool. The room was clean and a bit dated. However, we had an end room (#331) on the 3rd floor which overlooked downtown, the river, and even the Mark Twain Riverboat. Bottomline, for the price you're not going to do better and I'd stay there again!

We were on the last night of a 13 day trip and our planned lodging did not work out, so we looked at our planned route home and having been to Hannibal a few years ago knew there were multiple places to stay and it would only require another hour or so of driving and so we booked while traveling in that direction. Once we arrived we were quite pleased with this inn. Very friendly check-in, good location--we took a walk along the river and through town after we got settled--nice clean room, nice pool and exercise room, and a good breakfast to start the final push home the next day. If coming to Hannibal for the Mark Twain stuff (recommended) or perhaps using US 36 as an alternative to I-70 across Missouri (also recommended) we recommend you consider a stay here.

On a long road trip, we stopped in Hannibal when we needed a rest for the night. We were pleasantly surprised by the town! Enjoyed the Mark Twain brewery, a live band playing downtown and cute ice cream shop. All within walking distance of the hotel. The nice woman at the front desk could sense our road weariness and gave us a few local tips to tire out our 3-year-old around town, and also offered us a nice room with a view of the river. We enjoyed the pool with our little one, which was nice and clean, and she loved the chocolate chip waffles in the morning. Thirty minutes after checking out, the hotel called to let us know they had found our teenage daughter's wallet in the room. We returned to get it, and while there wasn't much in it, all was there. We were all very appreciative. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Hotel has very limited parking, pool was pretty cool, hot tub was not enjoyable as water was bellow the jets, when I said something to the guy opening the pool(just before 9am) he said that he was not planning on filling it and it was fine with water below the jets. Also had a poolside room and between the people screaming pool and motorcycles parking outside our window it was very LOUD! Also had issues controlling temperature in the room so it was very warm in the room!!

Our tour bus group stayed at this Best Western in Hannibal. The location is very good and near the river. It's an older building but has been updated pretty well. The breakfast in the morning was just your basic free breakfast. All in all those on the tour thought it was a decent motel. A 3 for bigger cities but maybe a 4 for Hannibal.

This was our first stay at this Best Western. We stayed in the building across the street from the main building. Very pleasant. Our room was on the third floor. Room 334. The room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. Their rooms are very big and they have two king sized beds in it. The view from the room is very nice. It over looks the Mississippi River. There are a couple of blocks between the hotel and river but it is still a nice view. The mornings buffet breakfast was really good. Scrambled, sausage, waffles, bread for toast, yogurts and juices. One morning they had hash browns and the next they had seasoned breakfast potatoes. Both were very good. Both pools are very clean. One is inside(main building) and the other is outside behind the building we stayed in. The front desk staff was really nice. I mistakenly packed the hairdryer from the bathroom and called as soon as we got home. Jeff was really nice and understood what I had done. He asked when we were coming back and I told him we definitely would be staying there again but not for some time. We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The location is perfect and everything is in walking distance. The staff were very nice and the breakfast was fantastic. The hotel isn't necessarily a traditional layout, the pool is in centre of the hotel. I don't see that as a bad thing though, it just makes it more interesting. The hotel has character and it has a real friendly vibe to it. The hotel and room was very clean. If we ever go back to the lovely Hannibal, we would stay there again.

The exterior of the hotel is underwhelming. We stayed in the building across the street from the main building. We were a little worried at first but the room was updated, comfortable, and super clean. They even put cookies in the lobby in the evening.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Best Western On The River for our Wedding Anniversary get-away. We came for the Mark Twain Days over Memorial weekend & the location of this hotel is PERFECT for walking to just about everything there is to see. The Staff were always available & friendly. Our room was quiet, big and clean. It's so refreshing to have everything in the room work and the full breakfast was varied and delicious. We will definitely be back!! Great staff. Rooms and whole hotel kept clean. Very accommodating. Free breakfast was really pretty good for a hotel. Has dedicated parking for motorcycles. My only issue was with the pool. It closed at 9pm. Other than that really nice property

Hotel was very accommodating. Adjusted our rooms to make it easier for us. Worked out great. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Loved having a little tore instead of vending machines. Having coffee available at all times was great.

Our room was big, king size bed and room to move around. The location was a block from the historic area of Hannibal. The staff was great. The parking was a little tight. They wouldn't let you take food out of the breakfast area. This normally wouldn't have been a big deal but it was Mothers Day and taking something to my wife would have been nice. I would take here again.

I would like to report a recent overcharge that I incurred during a business stay at the Best Western in Hannibal, MO. I work for a rather large engineering firm and I recently booked rooms at the Best Western for a business trip through our corporate booking agent (Uniglobe). I booked two rooms for two nights. Upon checking in I indicated that we would have to shorten our stay to 1 night, and relocated for the next night. The check in staff indicated this was fine and also indicated that they had an quick check out policy, whereby if I leave my email address on both check in slips there would be no need to stop by the front desk the next morning to check out. I opted to do this and the next morning we checked out. I did not receive an email with my receipts over the next couple days, so I called and requested receipts. I received receipts that reflected an early check out fee of $40.00 for one room, and a charge of two nights (rather than one) for the second room. I concluded that this was a mistake and attempted to contact the hotel manager numerous times to rectify the situation. I received one abrupt email back indicating that the rate was not for two nights and that my coworker had left the DND sign on her door upon check out and that was the justification for the extra day's charge. After many days of trying to call and talk with Jeff “the manager”, I finally did get ahold of him. I tried to explain to Jeff that we told the staff upon check in that both rooms would be checking out the next morning (both of which were on my credit card) and they had indicated that they understood. Jeff indicated the rates we booked were for multiple nights stay and not for one night, at which point I indicated that I had made the reservations through our corporate booking agent and if there was going to be a $40 fee assessed to me for changing my reservation, it should have been indicated to me upon check in. And this does not explain why the second room was assessed a second full night's charge, rather than a $40 fee, even if the DND sign was on the door. At this point Jeff became angry and told me I was wrong and he actually hung up the phone on me. In my 15 years of working in my position where I travel numerous times throughout the year and stay in many different hotels, I have never, ever experienced any staff at any hotel that was this completely rude and didn't seem to care at all about the customer's view point. And the indiscrepancies in the room charges - both of which were booked by me, under my name – makes me seriously wonder about the lack of organization, and legitimacy, of the management at this hotel. Honestly, this is borderline fraudulent activity perpetrated by the manager Jeff. I even had our corporate booker Uniglobe attempt to contact Jeff and rectify the situation. He also stonewalled them. @I am in a wheelchair and am able to do transfers from the wheelchair to the toilet. However there were no grab bars by the toilet. I had nothing to hang unto when I did a transfer. My travel pRtner called the front desk to ask for another room but this was the only room available. The clerk gave my friend a stand that you put over the toilet but the stand was missing rubber tips. Needless to say tile and metal make a great slide. If I did not have my friend to help me I would not have been able to use the bathroom. Also the height of the bed was too high could not do a transfer so I slept in my wheelchair all night. Which made my legs swell up. When we checked out I complained to the clerk and he said that they let me use that stand but I told him it was an accident waiting to happen Did not get much response. We will never stay here again. If you are handicapped ask before you book about grab bars by the toilet and height of bed. You would think two issues would be a no brained but evidently common sense does not prevail.

Our room was in major need of repair. The bathroom light fixture was severely crooked, the ceiling tiles were in need of replacement, and my daughter found a worm in her bed. The room seemed dirty and neglected. On the plus side, the front desk staff was pleasant at check-in and the breakfast was good.

Stayed here for the weekend for the GGG. It was a great stay. The hotel was quiet. We didn't use the pool, but the pool and hot tub were good sized. Breakfast was good. Our room was clean. We requested and received a river view room and felt welcomed. The windows desperately need a washing, inside and out, and it's almost time for a freshening rehab of the carpets and paint. Our king bed was comfy. Be prepared for lots of freight train toots, given the number of crossings that two different rail lines cross while going through town.

My experience with Best Western has always been positive and this visit was no different. Good staff-attentive. Booked a queen room and they gave us a double queen instead for same price! Nice pool and hot tub, free coffee and decent breakfast. Good diner right across the street. Room was clean! All the cool stuff downtown are all within a few blocks--great location if you are exploring Hannibal! The only downside is the parking behind the building needs some serious work but there is parking in other areas and some of the rooms(including ours) had no window to the outside. This isn't a 4 star hotel, nor does it claim to be, but it is what it is and you get your money worth!

Great location in a cute river town, views of the river. There's plenty to do in Hannibal for family or girls weekend. The hotel staff were friendly, the room was very clean. Typical but nice Best Western.

Stayed there one night on pleasure. Check-in was efficient. Parking was fine. Both of the two computers in the main lobby, a drafty area, were broken, and no one was around to fix them. Very disappointing. Hotel is built around a central pool, so there can be noise when there are children in the pool. When I went into the room, I found a large set of keys belonging to hotel staff on the window sill. Who knows how many rooms it would have opened? A bit careless of the staff. No body soap in the bathroom--was told to us facial soap because it is the same (but tiny). Breakfast was good. The price was reasonable. A VISITOR CENTER WAS NEXT DOOR. The average rating for this hotel at present is 4.5 circles; I consider it about 3.5.

Nice hotel. It was walking distance to downtown area. Plenty of options for breakfast. Easy to get to off of highway. Only downside is parking is limited close to hotel rooms unless you are there early. Will stay again.

We were able to walk in and get a room as it was a Wednesday. I read some of the reviews here prior to traveling but experienced none of the negatives. The room was clean and comfortable, services ample and the breakfast was good. The only minor thing I can think of is the parking lot was a little cramped for my extended cab pickup but doable if you take your time as the facility is built into the side of a hill. Would stay there again.

The reason I gave it a 3, train came by many times during night. Blew horn woke us many times. Also, breakfast was not very good. The room was neat and clean. Hotel had been recently renovated. This place has great ratings, and is situated right downtown on the river in Hannibal. As such, it was an easy choice as a place to stay. So we did, and found it somewhat disappointing... check-in was slow, taking perhaps 12 minutes, with only 2 people in front of us in line. The room was OK, and was certainly quiet and clean. However, the tarp over the pool was unsightly AND probably represents a serious safety threat. The breakfast was particularly disappointing: the pastries were sealed in plastic, rather than fresh; the eggs were inedible (uniform yellow color... some pre-prepared or synthetic thing); etc., etc. So I am not sure where the great ratings come from! It was not BAD, but it also was absolutely nothing special.

We happened to stay on a night when the hotel was fully booked. We were placed in the 2nd building which was a nice change of pace for us. It had newly remodeled rooms that were clean and comfortable. The full hot breakfast was good with a lot of variety. Even though there was a wrestling and swimming meet that weekend, our room was quiet and we were able to get a peaceful sleep. This hotel is walking distance from historic downtown shops and restaurants and the Mark Twain Museum sites. It is two blocks from the river, but you can see it from some of the rooms. It is close to everything. Great place to stay.

The hotel was nice and in a great location for visiting all the sights in Hannibal - it's a one block walk to the Mark Twain museum and all the Tom Sawyer kitsch. Parking was a bit of a pain and breakfast was not run particularly well, but we'd go back if we were staying in the area again.

If you are coming down from Iowa or up from Saint Louis, etc. the freeway will end and you will be forced to drive through Hannibal before the highway returns. We were intent on staying in Hannibal, so if you are like us and get lost, even with GPS, you can't miss Hannibal! There are two Best Westerns within sight of each other. They are both a street or so away from the enormous Mississippi River. One is a straight-forward motel, the other ("On the River") is where we planted ourselves. Though a bit shabbily carpeted here and there, the internal average pool and jacuzzi with multi-storied balconies turned inward, graced with greenery and eating areas, give this hotel a feeling of being a part of a community. Can't add to that but can say that we always feel as if Best Western is a better choice for it's architectural landscaping alone. Across the street is a busy diner with wonderful ice cream. We often ate breakfast and lunch there. There is literally no town like Hannibal. It is a shrine to Samuel Clemens. Even mini tour buses are plastered with his image. A riverboat that seats about 50 and has its own bar and gift shop sets sail a couple of times a day. We were there for too short of a period of time, but did visit the cute gift shop onboard. Best Western rooms are plain and small but they always have a good breakfast and good service. We can't emphasize enough how pleasant its overall layout is.

We have stayed at this Best Western before and had a great experience. This time, the room was fine, the indoor pool was clean and warm, but the breakfast left much to be desired. The biggest difference this time though was the hospitality. The front desk workers were not friendly or welcoming. Also, I didn't receive an email receipt (as requested) nor did I receive a receipt under the door. I had to ask for a receipt upon checkout. None of that alone is a huge deal, but altogether it made for a disappointing and just average stay.

Stayed here several times. The pool is ALWAYS a problem if you're in the main building. We wanted to sleep in until 10:00 but ever since 9:00 all we could hear was kids actually screaming. We could hear every splash and the parents talking to accompany the screaming. (Seriously the kids were screaming not joking) I'm not typically a complainer and I can deal with noise as on a normal basis I live in a noisy dorm. The worst part about this was when we called the front desk to ask about it an he said quote “ummmm actually no, they are not that loud it just echos”. I thought it was very rude. Zero customer service or care. We were very respectful and this was the first thing we've said to them during our stay. It just really sucks. I don't even know why a hotel would put a pool right in the middle of the rooms and why they would open it so early. Not a good combination. I thought since the hotel cost a bit more you'd get better service and quality but apparently not.

Very nice hotel. Great location for touring the Tom Sawyer museum and more. The Hotel gave us one of the best rooms we have ever had. Overlooking the river and it had windows on two walls. VERY SPACIOUS! We only had one night but wished we could stay longer. The Mark Twain riverboat really looked inviting. If we ever get the chance we would love to go on it. We could walk all over the historic area with ease. The only bit of negative was the limited parking but we got there late in the day.

This is a great little hotel on the main street of Hannibal. Close to everything you would want to see. The rooms smell a little musty because of the indoor pool, but it's not bad and everything is well maintained. Beds are comfy, staff is amazing, rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good - scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits & gravy, yogurt, make-your-own waffles, pastries/toast, cereal & juices. I'm kind of picky about the places I stay, but I would definitely choose to stay here again if I were in the area.

The hotel is on the highway 79 (N. 3rd Street) through town and about 100 feet from the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum, so was very convenient to our needs. There is a large indoor pool in the center which made the entire lobby and common area a little humid but the rooms were comfortable. A glass elevator looks over a large common area. There is a new second building across the street which I didn't enter but the second site provided needed additional parking. We just stayed one restful night and overall, enjoyed our short stay

Best Western On the River was clean, comfortable, great breakfast, polite helpful staff, nice pool, little too much chlorine, great hot tub twice the size of normal. Walk out the front door, cross the street and you are there at the attractions. Great time.

We enjoyed our stay here as everyone was so friendly. From the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out, the service was friendly, people were helpful and the Best Western was clean, easy access and easy to move around. The room was quiet, with a wall mounted thermostat, and wi-fi was easily accessible. The reason for the "very good" instead of "excellent" is for the following reasons, and may not apply to other guests. 1. The heated pool was excellent and just the right temperature, however, the hot tub was way to hot. I thought it might just be me, even though I like "hot" hot tubs, but several other guests who were there when we were, also thought it was too hot. 2. There was not any hot tea available for breakfasts. There were tea bags in the room (only 2 though) but nothing for breakfast. It wouldn't take much to have hot water and tea bags available for morning people who like their breakfasts with hot tea. Most of the ingredients or extras are there for the coffee, so it would just take tea bags and hot water. 3. Although I thought the breakfast was okay as continental breakfasts go, and there was fruit (apples and oranges) there were no bananas. They may have had a limited number, but when we got there around 8:30 a.m. there were no bananas. And for people who don't like scramble eggs, toast, sausage, biscuits and gravy, or cereal, and just want a banana for breakfast with hot tea, this would be a nice added extra that would take my "very good" to an excellent rating. I should also add that if you have a extra large truck or car, the parking lot beside the hotel is rather small. We have a small SUV so we were okay, but if you were driving an oversize pickup truck, you may have to ask, where to park. The rooms are all situated around either the pool or the dining, relaxation area, so if you wanted added quiet, you may wan to request one over looking the dining, or relaxation area. We were above the pool, and you could hear children's laughter drifting up from the pool, however, it did not bother us. Pool closes at 9 p.m. so we were happy where we were, but if you are really there to zonk out, you may want the other end of the hotel overlooking chairs, etc. where people sit and talk. All in all we liked this Best Western and if we return will probably stay here again.

We almost always stay at Best Westerns. We only reserved an hour or two in advance and were lucky to get a room. There was an old car show going on somewhere so the place was full. Our room was very comfortable, but noisy right in front of the indoor pool. True to their word it did quiet down at 10. The previous person in our room must have spilled a bottle of cologne as the room had a very strong smell of men's cologne and the carpet was damp near the desk. It is a nice two block walk to the old downtown and some touristy places. The river is also within walking distance. Good thing as there was VERY limited parking at this motel. Breakfast was great and plenty of it with such a crowded night. The two men at the desk were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

We used to stay here frequently when in the Hannibal area but haven't visited for a few years. This hotel was always our first choice because of it's location and service. Somewhere along the line the forgot about service, cleanliness and quality. If it wasn't for it's great location, I doubt it would be used near as often.

The Best Western on the River is an older hotel which has been updated yet retains the old charm. The layout is unique and centered around the pool. When traveling with the children, it is always one of their favorites. For the most part the staff is friendly. The breakfast area is very welcoming and we plan on staying when possible.

We have stayed in Hannibal every year for the past 7 years now usually staying at the less pricey hotels but This year we choose to try best western on the river and this was definitely a good choice. This hotel is WELL worth the little bit of extra money! All the staff was helpful and friendly, wide selections for breakfast, indoor and outdoor pool, everything was clean, stain free and smelled nice, quiet for the most part, we stayed in the new building so we also had a pretty view of the river. If you plan on spending time on or around the river front you can't beat their location, we walked to have dinner and drinks every night! All around Great hotel

The best thing about this motel is the convenience to Mark Twain attractions and the dinette across the street. It is a little older hotel but clean. The bathroom is very tiny and the distance between the desk and the bed is tight. My husband had to work at his computer, and I had to squeeze past many times to avoid tripping on the chair legs. It is right on the river and you can see it from the window, at least in our room. The oddest thing is that there is a swimming pool in the lobby! All of the rooms overlook it and make the air a little humid. They cover it at night and close it up around 8:00. The railroad runs past here also but the train whistles did not bother us at night.

Parking sucks!! Now that that's out of the way... This hotel was awesome. You can walk to most attractions, it's across the street from the Mark Twain diner... Best food in town. We had two rooms with double beds... Comfy, clean and big! Speaking of big... The hot tub is the biggest I've ever seen. Indoor pool was heated and very nice. Breakfast... You bet!! Honesty, great food! Breakfast was awesome right down to coffee cups for the drinks instead of those baby size cups you have to refill 5 times!!! I'm telling ya, stay here!!!

I reserved two rooms online because I had stayed in the new building a few years ago and it was within walking distance of the town. I requested the new building in the special requests section. I called the Monday of the week I was to arrive to confirm the rooms would be in the new building. I was told that it was a good thing I called because they did not have me in the new building and confirmed that he made sure the rooms would be in the new building. Upon arrival, I was informed that not only did we not have rooms in the new building but was repeatedly told that they cannot reserve rooms and it states it clearly on the website. One of the employees (who was not the person checking us in), kept interrupting me when I tried to explain the confirmation I was given over the phone by repeating that they cannot reserve rooms. We suggested that they make sure their employees are aware of this. This man didn't seem to want to hear any of it. In fairness, the woman who checked us in atleast let me explain but offered no solution. I also received contradictory info about the types of rooms that are in the newer building. I was told by the person when I called that the rooms were different but we'd get two queen beds in our room and mentioned no difference in price. At the hotel they told us that all the rooms were double kings in the new building and that they were $299 / night. This would be an outrageous price for this location and hotel. One of my friends spoke with the manager the next morning and she also offered no apology and didn't seem to care - and of course offered nothing for their error. We considered switching hotels but liked the location. The room itself was comfortable enough, although the last two nights we were there we kept losing the tv connectivity. I didn't report it because we were in and out of the room. There are gaps between the doors and since it is indoors there are no outside windows. The door in the bathroom barely misses the toilet. The light and fan are connected to one switch which is outside the bathroom. The fan in the other room was loud according to my friend The breakfast was okay. A positive is a pancake/waffle maker that had 3 separate areas to put the batter so don't have to make as much as many waffle makers. They also had blueberry and stawberry compote for the pancakes as well as cheese to put on the eggs. They didn't have fresh oatmeal - just the packets. On the weekend they had sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy and potatoes. Monday morning they didn't have the potatoes. They had some yogurt and fruitcups along with limited fruit, bread and sweets. Parking is challenging in the old building. The first night I parked in the new building parking lot. Perfect location to stay at and walk to all Mark Twain attractions in the downtown Hannibal area. We left our car on the lot and therefore did not have to keep finding parking spaces. Wish we would have brought swim suits and been able to enjoy the indoor pool and the hot tub.

Overall the hotel was good. Great location within walking distance from all the tourist attractions. Right across the street from my favourite place Mark Twain Dinette Staff was ok. Front desk help was ok but not too friendly. Wish the pool and hot tub would have stayed open longer. Kind of an inconvenience if you have been out all day sightseeing then wanting to come in and relax in. They did offer us a group rate as we had a lot of family coming in town. Room was nice and comfortable. Would have loved to take one of those comfy pillows home.

First time booking on trip advisor. Got a good rate so we decided to stop here overnight. Clean room, nice employees and comfortable bed. Best Western was our go to motel years ago but for some reason we opted for Holiday Inn. We had to have a handicap room with a walk in shower. The shower was very nice and included a stool. The problem was there were no handrails around or close to the toilet. There was a raised threshold at the door. Made getting the luggage cart hard to get in the room. Had 2 choices, either raise the cart over the threshold or roll it back and push it hard and have it bounce over the threshold. Wife made a comment that the free breakfast did not look very appetizing so we went across the street to Mark Twains. If necessary we will stay at another Best Western but for us it will always be Holiday Inn.

The room was very clean. I appreciated the two king-sized beds in the newer building. Was glad the swimming pool was located in the older building. We had a 3rd floor room for a view of the river although the view wasn't that great. The best asset of the hotel is its location. We could have walked to the Steampunk festival from our hotel. If you arrive at the hotel after 10 pm on a weekend night, parking is an issue. We had to park in the street. Fortunately, there was street parking available. Room was quiet even though the hotel was full. Breakfast had some hot items like scrambled eggs. Nothing exceptional but adequate. The front desk in the newer building has a phone to call the other front desk in the older building. I thought that was a somewhat odd arrangement. Coffee in the lobby and in-room 24 hours. I would recommend this hotel based on its cleanliness and its great location.

We stayed one night in the newer annex part of the hotel. It was very clean and comfortable and has plenty of parking. You do have to walk next door for breakfast and checkout but that was not a problem. The hotel is very close to the Mark Twain museum and downtown-within walking distance. Breakfast was good. The main building has an indoor pool which we did not use.

The hotel is clean and the staff is pleasant . Breakfast was free and good There was a nice variety of food to choose from. The hotel is within walking distance of most of the attractions and you can get to the river, but it is NOT riverside. It is a few blocks from the river.

one half block from the white washed fence, Aunt Polly's and Beckie's. Samuel Clemons"s s boyhood home is only 1/2 block away also. Only one block from the Mark Twain Brewery, great micro brews and pub food.

This Best Western was very nice but the rooms could use some work, not as nice as some other Best Westerns. This being said the staff were great and the ability to walk right down the road to shop at some unique little stores was awesome. We had the opportunity to meet some locals at one of the bars on main street and had a great time.

On the river? You can't even SEE the river! As a matter of fact, this older tourist trap still has rooms around an inside courtyard with a stinky pool, so there is no view of anything! And add a broken toilet and getting locked out of the hotel because the key cards don't work in the side door and it all makes for a delightful nightmare. We told the front desk about our concerns in the evening, but we had to "wait for a manager" in the morning. He refused to do anything. Be warned! Oh, and these are pictures of the "handicapped broken toilet with no grab bars and our wonderful view of the river!

Our stay at the Best Westen at Hannibal MO. was a great relaxing surprise after a 10 hour travel day! Staff is friendly, the rooms are fresh, clean, and relaxing! We look forward to return here when we travel this way in the future!

Visited over Labor Day weekend and the hotel and town were basically asleep. The pool closed at 8pm and only bars were open downtown. Stayed in the old section of the hotel and it felt a little run down. Last year we were in the new wing which is nicer. Breakfast was still good and the location is outstanding.

Had a great room in the annex. Everything was clean and comfortable. We had a view of the river. The check in staff were efficient, but the checkout person was not only efficient, but very friendly. The hotel is in the historical part of town and in walking distance of most of the attractions and the river. The cave is 2 miles up off of the road in front of the hotel and the Rockcliffe Mansion is way up the hill off of the road next to the hotel. Both places you might want to drive to. There are diners and restaurants within waling distance. The visitor center is almost next to the hotel. The breakfast is adequate and has enough choices to get you going for the day. Great place to stay.

The Best Western on the River in Hannibal is a clean, nice hotel. We were in Hannibal to see the Mark Twain sights and found the hotel's location to be idea. It is no more than a 5 minute walk to the nearest Twain sights. In addition, the Mark Twain diner directly across the street from the hotel is quite good. You will hear trains, though.

We've stayed at this hotel twice now, attending an annual event hosted in the Hannibal downtown. It's a very easy walk to downtown, which is why we came back this year, but it's not a great deal for what you pay (they raise the rates pretty obviously for these festivals). Breakfast here is probably the least impressive of any BW I've stayed at. We remembered that from the previous year and brought our own fruit and breakfast bars just so we wouldn't be starving too early. This year, as luck would have it, our room was in the 'annex' building, which is across the street from the 'main' hotel where you check in. Our room was very spacious and had a huge bathroom (the previous year in the main hotel, the room was far smaller; perhaps all in the annex are larger?) Plusses: the annex building is only three floors, so it was very quiet and the elevator is fast. The room was clean and in good shape (perhaps recently remodeled). Less awesome: The 'front desk' in this building is unmanned, as far as we can tell, so if there's an issue you have to trek across the street to the main building. Parking at the entire hotel is at a premium, but the lot at the annex is much better than at the main building (which is ridiculously tight and on an extreme hill).

This hotel has the basics and is perfectly located to do Mark Twain tourism in Hannibal. Our room was new and mostly clean (there were a few bugs), beds were comfortable, and shared areas were well maintained. But there were some surprising defeciencies in our stay. Staff wasn't friendly or especially helpful. They seemed unhappy. We were in a building across the street from the main building and the front wasn't staffed. They had a sad little breakfast spread there in the morning, and things like milk would often run out and there was no one on hand to help. The hot water was not hot enough for a comfortable shower only about half the time. It was a surprisingly bad stay at what I've found to be a pretty solid chain.

We haven't been back to this area for many years and were pleasantly surprised that our room was booked in the new building next door to the original. The outdoor pool is adjacent to this building which was nice during the summer (would have to walk to other building for indoor pool, which would be a negative in winter). The rooms were wonderful which is no surprise with it being so new. We chose to eat breakfast in town so I can't rate their free offerings but I can say that they did have breakfast conveniently served in both buildings.

After receiving an electrical shock that all but knocked out my wife, we spoke with the management and they have repeatedly refused to do anything including offer a refund. Upon speaking three times with staff we called into best western corporate offices and they repeatedly "guaranteed" they would take care of it. However after over 5 weeks and several calls to corporate they now tell us that they can not help at all. DO NOT STAY HERE AND DO NOT STAY AT ANY BEST WESTERN HOTEL IN THEIR CHAIN AS THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS EVEN AFTER THEY ARE ALMOST KILLED BY FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS@!

We were on our way to Columbia MO for the eclipse. Didn't want to drive straight thru so Hannibal looked like a decent place to stay. Hotel was clean, room was actually one of the better rooms I've had at a mid range hotel. Very comfortable beds, good size flat screen tv. Bathroom was tight but all good. Pool was basically just outside our door. Temp was almost bathtub warm with heavy chlorine. Breakfast is included which was alright. Had several hot choices like scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy + the waffle machine. Had cereal, yogurts, pastry & juices. More then enough to get you moving. Place was steps from everything the town has.

Easily one of the BEST B/W Motels we have stayed in (I am a diamond member) because of the clean atmosphere from the rooms to the excellent "day room lobby" of tables inside a three story ceiling. The desk was very helpful in suggesting a fine evening meal place to eat. The fresh cookies were also pretty good & tasty. The breakfast area was large including a side - private dining area. The motel is situated right downtown Hannibal.

Warning: We found a BEDBUG in our room! Morning manager couldn't offer us a refund because we didn't have proof.. we did have a video of it crawling on the pillow but that wasn't good enough! We could have given a good review otherwise.

I might give this very decent hotel a higher rating, but for two things. One is that the hotel where we stayed on our road trip just before staying here was brand new, exceptionally clean and well-appointed. As a result, we couldn't help but notice that this place, while well maintained, nonetheless is showing its age. It's not quite shabby, but without a renovation, it will be soon enough. Second, the hotel where we stayed on our road trip just after staying here had a super-fast, trouble-free WIFI, reminding us that the WIFI in this upscale Hannibal establishment was slower and not so dependable. On the other hand, the staff here were friendly and helpful, the location overlooking the river and the quaint downtown is superb, breakfast was edible, parking was free, and the tourist information office is directly across the street. The indoor pool must be safe to swim in, because the aroma of chlorine wafted amply through the corridors. We would stay here again.

My Wife and I went to a Ecom event and stayed at the Best Western On The River. Great price and clean hotel. Breakfast was solid ( would love bacon mixed in). Be sure to ask for the newer building of the the two that Best Western owns. They are across the street from one another. Excellent location for all attractions and dining in walking distance. Loved the river view from our room! Great breakfast with an expansive food selection to start your day. This hotel would be our first choice again when staying in Hannibal.

This hotel is just a block off Main St. in Hannibal...very convenient to several of the downtown attractions and restaurants. The rooms are clean but...at least in our case...could use a little TLC. There appeared to be a little water damage (possibly) in one corner of the ceiling. The bathroom door wouldn't close easily (would stick) and the hinges were rusty. The knob on the bi-fold door to the closet was placed on the left side instead of the middle and made the door difficult to open. The dresser and table/desk were oddly placed. The T.V. was on the left side of the dresser which was on the left side of the room. If someone in the bed on the right side of the room wanted to watch T.V. they would have to have their head turned pretty severely to see the screen. The legs of the office chair at the table/desk presented a toe jamming challenge. My wife and I both hit our feet on it. The window, which looked out to downtown Hannibal and the river, was very dirty. None of these things is major but all combined to detract from the hotel in general which is why I gave it 3 stars. One last thing...the side entrance doors are not electronically secured, anyone can walk in those doors. I hope that gets changed.

My parents moved to Hannibal last year but their house had some pipes break. BW on the river became their home for several weeks. Now when we come to visit the grandkids want to stay at "Grandma's hotel" because it has a pool. We are not easy guests, extremely loud and leave a mark everywhere we land with all the Little's. This staff is very patient and always smiling.

We were in the older building which has a pool and interior courtyard. Our room was comfortable enough but there was a slightly musty odor and my sinuses acted as if a bit of mold or mildew was in the air. There was a persistent humidity/chlorine smell from the nearby pool. Bed was very comfortable. Room was dark, furnishings were dated. Breakfast selections were a bit better than the usual.

Best part about this hotel was its location. Hotel consists of two buildings--the main one and the "new" one. We stayed in a double King in the new building and found it comfortable. Pool had to be accessed outside the building, so we never made it out. Location was great--close to waterfront and shops. Would stay again on a future visit.

Clean rooms, nice outdoor and indoor pool to just rest and enjoy the day at. Breakfast was very good we had a lot to choose from and the food was hot. The pillows are not good but the mattress was firm and the room was clean. The internet worked the first time we tried it which was a plus.

I would highly recommend the Best Western by the River in Hannibal MO. The room we stayed in most recently was very spacious and comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly. We especially like the hotel's close proximity to all the sites and attractions in Hannibal. Thank you!

There is only one good thing about this hotel.... leaving! The room smelled like someone smoked a case of cigarettes in it before we arrived. There were also drunk people making noise most of the night. And please don't expect to get anything for your room, had to carry the pack in play up to our room by ourselves and had to come down stairs to get an extra (dirty/uncomfortable) blanket. To top it off, the A/C didn't work!

Great hotel..stayed in new building with new outdoor pool. 2 kings with river view. Comfortable beds nice linens excellent breakfast. Walking distance to many Twain sites. Friendly staff. They recommended an excellent place for dinner.. Easy check out.

This hotel is just right for what we needed. It was close to the downtown area, so we could walk to everything. Although it seems to be an older hotel, it has been updated nicely. The kids enjoyed the swimming pool, but I wish the pool hours were longer.

We had an excellent experience with our grandson. This hotel has a nice indoor pool and is close to all things Mark Twain. It is within walking distance to all the sights including the lighthouse, his boyhood home, Becky Thatcher's home, the law office, etc. Good little town for shopping. The cave is just 4 miles to the south. The staff was extremely helpful with directions and suggestions for restaurants. Would definitely recommend.

Attended with a group of 24. They put us in the new wing which we found very roomy and clean. Good staff and great location for getting about Hannibal. Comfortable beds. Morning breakfast was OK, just typical free breakfast

This is a great place to stay. The rooms were very large and clean. Could not have asked for a better place to stay. The breakfast meals were very good. Every one was very helpful when we were looking for places in Hannibal. Would stay here again . We were able to walk to everything that we wanted to do.

My husband took me here for our anniversary and it was perfect. Within walking distance to everything it was super quiet for being sold out and very clean. Also had a great free breakfast. We will be returning!

This hotel is right next to most everything downtown Hannibal which is a big plus, however it's a little dated. We asked for a quiet room and they put us on the first floor next to the exit into the parking lot, so we heard lots of foot traffic all night long. Perhaps a third floor room would have been better. The room was big and bed was super comfortable however the TV remote did not work, breakfast was just okay. Parking lot is small and it's somewhat tricky pulling into the drive up check in area.

My dad, son, and I stayed a night here on our "grand midwest tour". We had been staying at cheaper hotels and decided to spend a bit more money and stay at a little nicer place on our last night. This hotel was located in a great spot to explore Hannibal. Its almost across the street from the Mark Twain boyhood home neighborhood and only a block off Main st. Because of this, to a certain degree, I think this hotel caters to older visitors. There weren't a lot of other kids around, which made for a quiet experience. The pool is very warm...I could have taken a bath in it warm. this isn't a bad things, but something I noticed. The beds are comfortable, as are the pillows. The hotel and rooms are clean and the breakfast is good with plenty of selections for morning dining. My only real knock was that he A/C in the rooms didn't seem to working as well as I would have liked. It was on, but air vents were closed when we got to the room and it didn't blow as cold of air and I would have guessed. Still, not a bad stay. I would stay here again if I'm in the area.

This hotel was just ok. The room was small. However, it was clean and the beds were comfortable if that is all you are looking for. Breakfast was horrible. Poor selection and food was not good. We ended up going across the street to eat.

This is an older hotel that's been updated. We had a double king room that was located in the other building. We did not partake of the breakfast. Beds were good. Plenty of towels, which I appreciated. I made changes to my reservation twice and they were very accommodating. The hotel is right on one of the main drags. We walked everywhere. We were there for the 4th of July celebration and they let us leave our car there after we checked out for the day.

Great place to stay with teenagers. Convenient location for Hannibal, Missouri sites. Very nice pool and hot tub. Super breakfast for hungry kids. Fast internet and good selection of tv channels. We had a very relaxing visit.

Motel was very nice, staff very friendly, good complimentary breakfast. Located in the downtown area. Great view of the Mississippi River. Close to the River dinner cruise. Coffee shops and diners close. Excellent quilt store a few blocks away.

Loved the place for a family reunion. It was small & the inside was all open so could enjoy watching others, Had two pools, inside & out. It was a little musty/damp but we were by the river so accepted that. They helped whenever there was a problem. We did have a little issue with the reserved room right off the breakfast area, but I think it was resolved. The place was recommended by a Travel agent from Columbia, MO Had a fantastic week & so did the others.

Staff was very helpful offered a free upgrade for first responder. Pool was clean, breakfast is okay, typical free offerings. Room was spotless and quiet. We stayed in the new annex. A little pricey for Hannibal but good value for what you receive. Within easy walking distance of the downtown riverfront area. Will stay again.

We stayed here end of June for 2 nights and were very happy with our booking. We were put in the new annexe, 3rd floor so we had a lovely view of the river, which was particularly lovely at sunset ( we left the windows open for the nice cool breeze). Bedding and beds very comfortable with good quality sheets. Two king size beds and a sofa and the room didn't feel too small with 2 adults and a teenager. The bathroom was also roomy with plenty of counter space and good lighting. I'm not sure how long the annexe has been open but everything felt quite modern and fresh. The convenience of being right in the middle of this small town and not having to take the car but able to wander and walk everywhere (except the caves of course) was a nice bonus. Hannibal is lovely town and a nice break away from bustling traffic and lots of people. We originally thought we'd booked too long and there wasn't enough to do but we filled the time nicely with visiting the Mark Twain museum, riverboat cruise, the caves, Mark Twain one man show. The pool is in the other building so I can't comment as I only saw it briefly when we checked in, but we were happy where we were. Breakfast is good, bagels, cereal, coffee etc and quite sufficient. We enjoyed our stay.

Though "River View" means over the buildings closer to the Mississippi, the hotel is convenient to sites of Hannibal, including the caves. The interior hot tub and pool were convenient and th neighboring outdoor pool is good for those seeking rays.

Chose this hotel for a girlfriend weekend in Hannibal, & the location was great to be able to walk to all the area attractions that we wanted to visit. We weren't able to use the pool or large jacuzzi due to hours of 9-9. Being quiet with all rooms surrounding that area was understandable, but it would have been nice to be open until 10. Be aware the parking is extremely tight, & we know someone else's brand new vehicle was parked very carefully because of this, it was still hit & no info was left. Redesigned parking is needed! The bathroom is the ONLY place to plug anything in near the mirror outside the bathroom door, & there are NO lights in this area at all...this seriously needs to be improved somehow. The refrigerator in the room was appreciated, & the beds were comfortable. The free breakfast was very sparse about 20 min. before serving ended, always hope that it will be refilled if there are still people arriving to eat. Nice hotel, slightly above avg. price, great location!

I can not even begin to describe how flawless this location was. From check-in to our housekeepers and breakfast cook. Everything was top-notch. We choose to come back to Hannibal for two reasons the location and beauty and reliability of the place we stay, Best Western.

Three daughter-in-laws and I went for a weekend away. Hannibal was a hidden gem. Tom Sawyer days fun and local folks were very friendly and helpful. Food options were interesting and of good quality. We would go back to visit again.

#1 it is NOT on the river. It's close but no cigar. They are not allowed to have a hotel on the river in this area so that's why it's not there......or so they said. The hotel was ok but really, for the price I expected much more. The rooms were much like the old hotel/motel rooms of the 60's. Very small bathroom, but clean (except for the soap dish) and fairly well appointed. The beds were nice and comfy and the room was clean. You could tell it was a renovation of an old hotel and attention to detail was not their forte'. The breakfast was lacking in numerous ways but I guess was adequate. Many of the items were out or near out, cold (when they should be hot) and not so very attractive or appetizing. Parking was a real nightmare!! Well.....ok, maybe just a bad dream! Few parking spaces and a bit difficult to navigate but it worked out ok with us. Overall, I rate it average and 30% overpriced!!

Was nice and close to sites, could walk everywhere, pool was fun and kids enjoyed it. Easy to work with staff. I need to add more characters, so I am typing extra words now, this seems unnecessary. ok

Clean rooms, great breakfast, parking good, the staff very helpful with suggestions for meals and places to see and visit. What else is there that you want when traveling, its all there. We fully recommend the stay for comfort and convenience to all locations in town. Great for children adventures.

Good breakfast and great staff. Only a few miles from Lovers' Leap and Mark Twain Cave and attractions.

Frinds and I rode motorcycles to Hannibal for some sightseeing. At the Best Western On The River motorcycles can park for the evening under their awning, this was an unexpected bonus. The rooms are in excellent condition and the breakfast was great. The air conditioning is like central air so it was nice and quiet. Staff was friendly and knew the area well. We arrived late due to weather so didn't get enough sightseeing time but will stay at the Best Western On The River next trip.

Nice helpful people greeted me at the front desk, quickly got me a room though I had no reservation (roadtrip stopover was unexpected). Breakfast very good, and clean tables in the dining area which is a rarity nowadays. Location was excellent and allowed me to add some historic sites to my stay since this is right at the Mark Twain area. Rooms nicer than expected and great value. I thought the hotel was super cheap compared to what I normally stay in but it was just as nice!
