"Convenient and Nice Place to Visit Downtown Hannibal"

4
03/08/2018

We have stayed here several times and recommend this hotel for its friendly staff, favorable decor and nice accommodations. The interior courtyard appearance is charming and there are two pools, one inside and one outside. There is a nice breakfast in a good sized room. The parking lot is a little crowded and challenging, but this is probably mainly because the hotel is on a hill. Best of all you can walk to the historical area, the river boat dock, the brewery and the quaint downtown. Competing properties are several miles west on US36 making Best Western on The River a unique choice.

Nice location, walking distance to downtown and several restaurants. Right near the Mississippi River. Be careful crossing the road in front of the hotel as there is no crosswalk and some drivers did not slow down for pedestrians.

I am so happy that I travel with a pillow! If not, my balled up sweatshirt would have been more comfortable..otherwise the hotel is in a great location and the desk person was fantastic! Perfect location for walking around town .

"Walking Distance to Almost Everything"

26/07/2018

We stayed two nights as part of a Mississippi River road trip. The hotel is in convenient walking distance of most everything in Hannibal. The accomodations are comfortable and the breakfast is good. Our only complaint was that because the indoor pool is in the middle of the hotel is closes at 9pm and the humidity from it made everything in the surrounding rooms feel damp.

clean hotel a bit older but well kept up! great breakfast selection to choose from. indoor and outdoor pool was a nice touch although outdoor pool was a bit of a up hill walk. lol slight odor coming into the room at first. i think because it was so close to the pool. all in all a nice place to stay close to most attractions

Room was close to the pool and on the lower floor. The lobby had a ramp rather than stairs which was nice. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable. Would definitely choose to stay here next time. Very close to the local attractions and walking distance to the river. The pool was wonderful!!. Warmer than most and central in the hotel. There was a coffee area that seemed very warm and inviting. The hot tub was also nice. Not too hot. Really loved this hotel.

Great place with kids. Walkable to the Main street. Reasonable prices We stayed on the main floor with joining rooms right off the pool. The kids loved it. The pool closes at 9 pm so you don't have to worry about late night noticed

We had a great stay--comfortable and fun--at the Best Western on the River. Our room was roomy and clean, we felt safe and enjoyed our stay there. Cookies in the lobby in the afternoons and we played games until late at night listening to kids whoops and hollers from the in-hotel pool. Very fun hotel.

17/07/2018

The facility overall was average, nothing noteworthy either to the positive or negative. The hotel has the definitive, though not overpowering, smell of chlorine thanks to the small, indoor pool. The room was clean and a bit dated. However, we had an end room (#331) on the 3rd floor which overlooked downtown, the river, and even the Mark Twain Riverboat. Bottomline, for the price you're not going to do better and I'd stay there again!

"A Welcome respite"

16/07/2018

We were on the last night of a 13 day trip and our planned lodging did not work out, so we looked at our planned route home and having been to Hannibal a few years ago knew there were multiple places to stay and it would only require another hour or so of driving and so we booked while traveling in that direction. Once we arrived we were quite pleased with this inn. Very friendly check-in, good location--we took a walk along the river and through town after we got settled--nice clean room, nice pool and exercise room, and a good breakfast to start the final push home the next day. If coming to Hannibal for the Mark Twain stuff (recommended) or perhaps using US 36 as an alternative to I-70 across Missouri (also recommended) we recommend you consider a stay here.

13/07/2018

On a long road trip, we stopped in Hannibal when we needed a rest for the night. We were pleasantly surprised by the town! Enjoyed the Mark Twain brewery, a live band playing downtown and cute ice cream shop. All within walking distance of the hotel. The nice woman at the front desk could sense our road weariness and gave us a few local tips to tire out our 3-year-old around town, and also offered us a nice room with a view of the river. We enjoyed the pool with our little one, which was nice and clean, and she loved the chocolate chip waffles in the morning. Thirty minutes after checking out, the hotel called to let us know they had found our teenage daughter's wallet in the room. We returned to get it, and while there wasn't much in it, all was there. We were all very appreciative. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Nice place to stay. Within walking distance of the downtown area which is extremely convenient. Has an inside & outside pool also. Nice breakfast. Clean rooms. Weird setup as you walk into motel, inside pool is right there so you smell chlorine immediately.

Hotel has very limited parking, pool was pretty cool, hot tub was not enjoyable as water was bellow the jets, when I said something to the guy opening the pool(just before 9am) he said that he was not planning on filling it and it was fine with water below the jets. Also had a poolside room and between the people screaming pool and motorcycles parking outside our window it was very LOUD! Also had issues controlling temperature in the room so it was very warm in the room!!

Our tour bus group stayed at this Best Western in Hannibal. The location is very good and near the river. It's an older building but has been updated pretty well. The breakfast in the morning was just your basic free breakfast. All in all those on the tour thought it was a decent motel. A 3 for bigger cities but maybe a 4 for Hannibal.

12/06/2018

This was our first stay at this Best Western. We stayed in the building across the street from the main building. Very pleasant. Our room was on the third floor. Room 334. The room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. Their rooms are very big and they have two king sized beds in it. The view from the room is very nice. It over looks the Mississippi River. There are a couple of blocks between the hotel and river but it is still a nice view. The mornings buffet breakfast was really good. Scrambled, sausage, waffles, bread for toast, yogurts and juices. One morning they had hash browns and the next they had seasoned breakfast potatoes. Both were very good. Both pools are very clean. One is inside(main building) and the other is outside behind the building we stayed in. The front desk staff was really nice. I mistakenly packed the hairdryer from the bathroom and called as soon as we got home. Jeff was really nice and understood what I had done. He asked when we were coming back and I told him we definitely would be staying there again but not for some time. I told him I would send it back via UPS and he said that he appreciated the call and send it back when we get around to it. I would recommend this Best Western to anyone who asks,

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The location is perfect and everything is in walking distance. The staff were very nice and the breakfast was fantastic. The hotel isn't necessarily a traditional layout, the pool is in centre of the hotel. I don't see that as a bad thing though, it just makes it more interesting. The hotel has character and it has a real friendly vibe to it. The hotel and room was very clean. If we ever go back to the lovely Hannibal, we would stay there again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Best Western On The River for our Wedding Anniversary get-away. We came for the Mark Twain Days over Memorial weekend & the location of this hotel is PERFECT for walking to just about everything there is to see. The Staff were always available & friendly. Our room was quiet, big and clean. It's so refreshing to have everything in the room work and the full breakfast was varied and delicious. We will definitely be back!! Thanks to all the hardworking staff for a memorable, relaxing & fun place to stay!!!

Great staff. Rooms and whole hotel kept clean. Very accommodating. Free breakfast was really pretty good for a hotel. Has dedicated parking for motorcycles. My only issue was with the pool. It closed at 9pm. Other than that really nice property

Hotel was very accommodating. Adjusted our rooms to make it easier for us. Worked out great. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Loved having a little tore instead of vending machines. Having coffee available at all times was great.

"Great Room and Location"

20/05/2018

Our room was big, king size bed and room to move around. The location was a block from the historic area of Hannibal. The staff was great. The parking was a little tight. They wouldn't let you take food out of the breakfast area. This normally wouldn't have been a big deal but it was Mothers Day and taking something to my wife would have been nice. I would take here again.

"Jeff the manager - worst customer service ever received by well seasoned traveler!"

19/05/2018

I would like to report a recent overcharge that I incurred during a business stay at the Best Western in Hannibal, MO. I work for a rather large engineering firm and I recently booked rooms at the Best Western for a business trip through our corporate booking agent (Uniglobe). I booked two rooms for two nights. Upon checking in I indicated that we would have to shorten our stay to 1 night, and relocated for the next night. The check in staff indicated this was fine and also indicated that they had an quick check out policy, whereby if I leave my email address on both check in slips there would be no need to stop by the front desk the next morning to check out. I opted to do this and the next morning we checked out. I did not receive an email with my receipts over the next couple days, so I called and requested receipts. I received receipts that reflected an early check out fee of $40.00 for one room, and a charge of two nights (rather than one) for the second room. I concluded that this was a mistake and attempted to contact the hotel manager numerous times to rectify the situation. I received one abrupt email back indicating that the rate was not for two nights and that my coworker had left the DND sign on her door upon check out and that was the justification for the extra day's charge. After many days of trying to call and talk with Jeff “the manager”, I finally did get ahold of him. I tried to explain to Jeff that we told the staff upon check in that both rooms would be checking out the next morning (both of which were on my credit card) and they had indicated that they understood. Jeff indicated the rates we booked were for multiple nights stay and not for one night, at which point I indicated that I had made the reservations through our corporate booking agent and if there was going to be a $40 fee assessed to me for changing my reservation, it should have been indicated to me upon check in. And this does not explain why the second room was assessed a second full night's charge, rather than a $40 fee, even if the DND sign was on the door. At this point Jeff became angry and told me I was wrong and he actually hung up the phone on me. In my 15 years of working in my position where I travel numerous times throughout the year and stay in many different hotels, I have never, ever experienced any staff at any hotel that was this completely rude and didn't seem to care at all about the customer's view point. And the indiscrepancies in the room charges - both of which were booked by me, under my name – makes me seriously wonder about the lack of organization, and legitimacy, of the management at this hotel. Honestly, this is borderline fraudulent activity perpetrated by the manager Jeff. I even had our corporate booker Uniglobe attempt to contact Jeff and rectify the situation. He also stonewalled them. Due to Jeff, and his handling of this situation, I personally will not be staying at one of your hotels again and would like this to be considered my formal complaint against Jeff and the Best Western in Hannibal, MO. And as the employee of one of the world's largest environmental consulting and engineering firms, I will be recommending to any coworker to avoid Best Western in the future. I will also be filing a complaint with the local Hannibal Chamber of Commerce.

04/05/2018

@I am in a wheelchair and am able to do transfers from the wheelchair to the toilet. However there were no grab bars by the toilet. I had nothing to hang unto when I did a transfer. My travel pRtner called the front desk to ask for another room but this was the only room available. The clerk gave my friend a stand that you put over the toilet but the stand was missing rubber tips. Needless to say tile and metal make a great slide. If I did not have my friend to help me I would not have been able to use the bathroom. Also the height of the bed was too high could not do a transfer so I slept in my wheelchair all night. Which made my legs swell up. When we checked out I complained to the clerk and he said that they let me use that stand but I told him it was an accident waiting to happen Did not get much response. We will never stay here again. If you are handicapped ask before you book about grab bars by the toilet and height of bed. You would think two issues would be a no brained but evidently common sense does not prevail.

Our room was in major need of repair. The bathroom light fixture was severely crooked, the ceiling tiles were in need of replacement, and my daughter found a worm in her bed. 24/04/2018

We requested and received a river view room and felt welcomed. The windows desperately need a washing, inside and out, and it's almost time for a freshening rehab of the carpets and paint. Our king bed was comfy. Be prepared for lots of freight train toots, given the number of crossings that two different rail lines cross while going through town.

My experience with Best Western has always been positive and this visit was no different. Good staff-attentive. Booked a queen room and they gave us a double queen instead for same price! Nice pool and hot tub, free coffee and decent breakfast. Good diner right across the street. Room was clean! All the cool stuff downtown are all within a few blocks--great location if you are exploring Hannibal! The only downside is the parking behind the building needs some serious work but there is parking in other areas and some of the rooms(including ours) had no window to the outside. This isn't a 4 star hotel, nor does it claim to be, but it is what it is and you get your money worth!

08/04/2018

Stayed there one night on pleasure. Check-in was efficient. Parking was fine. Both of the two computers in the main lobby, a drafty area, were broken, and no one was around to fix them. Very disappointing. Hotel is built around a central pool, so there can be noise when there are children in the pool. When I went into the room, I found a large set of keys belonging to hotel staff on the window sill. Who knows how many rooms it would have opened? A bit careless of the staff. No body soap in the bathroom--was told to us facial soap because it is the same (but tiny). Breakfast was good. The price was reasonable. A VISITOR CENTER WAS NEXT DOOR. The average rating for this hotel at present is 4.5 circles; I consider it about 3.5.

They staff was super friendly!!! The hotel is very nice and welcoming. The beds were comfortable and it was appreciated to have "quiet hours" designated in the hotel. The free breakfast in the morning was delicious and they had a great selection of food to chose from. I wish we could have stayed there longer than the one day we booked. I will definitely go back and stay there again.

We were able to walk in and get a room as it was a Wednesday. I read some of the reviews here prior to traveling but experienced none of the negatives. The room was clean and comfortable, services ample and the breakfast was good. The only minor thing I can think of is the parking lot was a little cramped for my extended cab pickup but doable if you take your time as the facility is built into the side of a hill. Would stay there again.

The reason I gave it a 3, train came by many times during night. Blew horn woke us many times. Also, breakfast was not very good. The room was neat and clean. Hotel had been recently renovated. When I called to confirm reservations, the gal on phone was very accommodating. We were traveling with another couple. She gave us ajoining rooms with a view of the river, very nice!

"Amazing ratings and disappointing hotel"

27/02/2018

This place has great ratings, and is situated right downtown on the river in Hannibal. As such, it was an easy choice as a place to stay. So we did, and found it somewhat disappointing... check-in was slow, taking perhaps 12 minutes, with only 2 people in front of us in line. The room was OK, and was certainly quiet and clean. However, the tarp over the pool was unsightly AND probably represents a serious safety threat. The breakfast was particularly disappointing: the pastries were sealed in plastic, rather than fresh; the eggs were inedible (uniform yellow color... some pre-prepared or synthetic thing); etc., etc. So I am not sure where the great ratings come from! It was not BAD, but it also was absolutely nothing special.

12/02/2018

We happened to stay on a night when the hotel was fully booked. We were placed in the 2nd building which was a nice change of pace for us. It had newly remodeled rooms that were clean and comfortable. The full hot breakfast was good with a lot of variety. Even though there was a wrestling and swimming meet that weekend, our room was quiet and we were able to get a peaceful sleep. This hotel is walking distance from historic downtown shops and restaurants and the Mark Twain Museum sites. It is two blocks from the river, but you can see it from some of the rooms. It is close to everything. Great place to stay.

The hotel was nice and in a great location for visiting all the sights in Hannibal - it's a one block walk to the Mark Twain museum and all the Tom Sawyer kitsch. Parking was a bit of a pain and breakfast was not run particularly well, but we'd go back if we were staying in the area again.

We've stayed here a couple times on the way thru town and have always been pleased with the accommodations . Great location and clean rooms. For a hotel breakfast the food was pretty darn good. The desk clerks were helpful. It ain't the Rotz but it's a nice enough place for a nice price.

If you are coming down from Iowa or up from Saint Louis, etc. the freeway will end and you will be forced to drive through Hannibal before the highway returns. We were intent on staying in Hannibal, so if you are like us and get lost, even with GPS, you can't miss Hannibal! There are two Best Westerns within sight of each other. They are both a street or so away from the enormous Mississippi River. One is a straight-forward motel, the other ("On the River") is where we planted ourselves. Though a bit shabbily carpeted here and there, the internal average pool and jacuzzi with multi-storied balconies turned inward, graced with greenery and eating areas, give this hotel a feeling of being a part of a community. Can't add to that but can say that we always feel as if Best Western is a better choice for it's architectural landscaping alone. Across the street is a busy diner with wonderful ice cream. We often ate breakfast and lunch there. There is literally no town like Hannibal. It is a shrine to Samuel Clemens. Even mini tour buses are plastered with his image. A riverboat that seats about 50 and has its own bar and gift shop sets sail a couple of times a day. We were there for too short of a period of time, but did visit the cute gift shop onboard. Best Western rooms are plain and small but they always have a good breakfast and good service. We can't emphasize enough how pleasant its overall layout is.

We have stayed at this Best Western before and had a great experience. This time, the room was fine, the indoor pool was clean and warm, but the breakfast left much to be desired. The biggest difference this time though was the hospitality. The front desk workers were not friendly or welcoming. Also, I didn't receive an email receipt (as requested) nor did I receive a receipt under the door. I had to ask for a receipt upon checkout. None of that alone is a huge deal, but altogether it made for a disappointing and just average stay.

Grace D, Front Office Manager at Best Western On The River, responded to this review

"Very loud and rude front desk"

14/01/2018

Stayed here several times. The pool is ALWAYS a problem if you're in the main building. We wanted to sleep in until 10:00 but ever since 9:00 all we could hear was kids actually screaming. We could hear every splash and the parents talking to accompany the screaming. (Seriously the kids were screaming not joking) I'm not typically a complainer and I can deal with noise as on a normal basis I live in a noisy dorm. The worst part about this was when we called the front desk to ask about it an he said quote “ummmm actually no, they are not that loud it just echos”. I thought it was very rude. Zero customer service or care. We were very respectful and this was the first thing we've said to them during our stay. It just really sucks. I don't even know why a hotel would put a pool right in the middle of the rooms and why they would open it so early. Not a good combination. I thought since the hotel cost a bit more you'd get better service and quality but apparently not.

Very nice hotel. Great location for touring the Tom Sawyer museum and more. The Hotel gave us one of the best rooms we have ever had. Overlooking the river and it had windows on two walls. VERY SPACIOUS! We only had one night but wished we could stay longer. The Mark Twain riverboat really looked inviting. If we ever get the chance we would love to go on it. We could walk all over the historic area with ease. The only bit of negative was the limited parking but we got there late in the day.

17/11/2017

This is a great little hotel on the main street of Hannibal. Close to everything you would want to see. The rooms smell a little musty because of the indoor pool, but it's not bad and everything is well maintained. Beds are comfy, staff is amazing, rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good - scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits & gravy, yogurt, make-your-own waffles, pastries/toast, cereal & juices. I'm kind of picky about the places I stay, but I would definitely choose to stay here again if I were in the area.

The hotel is on the highway 79 (N. 3rd Street) through town and about 100 feet from the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum, so was very convenient to our needs. There is a large indoor pool in the center which made the entire lobby and common area a little humid but the rooms were comfortable. A glass elevator looks over a large common area. There is a new second building across the street which I didn't enter but the second site provided needed additional parking. We just stayed one restful night and overall, enjoyed our short stay

"Enjoyed our stay here...."

4
24/10/2017

We enjoyed our stay here as everyone was so friendly. From the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out, the service was friendly, people were helpful and the Best Western was clean, easy access and easy to move around. The room was quiet, with a wall mounted thermostat, and wi-fi was easily accessible. The reason for the "very good" instead of "excellent" is for the following reasons, and may not apply to other guests. 1. The heated pool was excellent and just the right temperature, however, the hot tub was way to hot. I thought it might just be me, even though I like "hot" hot tubs, but several other guests who were there when we were, also thought it was too hot. 2. There was not any hot tea available for breakfasts. There were tea bags in the room (only 2 though) but nothing for breakfast. It wouldn't take much to have hot water and tea bags available for morning people who like their breakfasts with hot tea. Most of the ingredients or extras are there for the coffee, so it would just take tea bags and hot water. 3. Although I thought the breakfast was okay as continental breakfasts go, and there was fruit (apples and oranges) there were no bananas. They may have had a limited number, but when we got there around 8:30 a.m. there were no bananas. And for people who don't like scramble eggs, toast, sausage, biscuits and gravy, or cereal, and just want a banana for breakfast with hot tea, this would be a nice added extra that would take my "very good" to an excellent rating. I should also add that if you have a extra large truck or car, the parking lot beside the hotel is rather small. We have a small SUV so we were okay, but if you were driving an oversize pickup truck, you may have to ask, where to park. The rooms are all situated around either the pool or the dining, relaxation area, so if you wanted added quiet, you may wan to request one over looking the dining, or relaxation area. We were above the pool, and you could hear children's laughter drifting up from the pool, however, it did not bother us. Pool closes at 9 p.m. so we were happy where we were, but if you are really there to zonk out, you may want the other end of the hotel overlooking chairs, etc. where people sit and talk. All in all we liked this Best Western and if we return will probably stay here again.

22/10/2017

We almost always stay at Best Westerns. We only reserved an hour or two in advance and were lucky to get a room. There was an old car show going on somewhere so the place was full. Our room was very comfortable, but noisy right in front of the indoor pool. True to their word it did quiet down at 10. The previous person in our room must have spilled a bottle of cologne as the room had a very strong smell of men's cologne and the carpet was damp near the desk. It is a nice two block walk to the old downtown and some touristy places. The river is also within walking distance. Good thing as there was VERY limited parking at this motel. Breakfast was great and plenty of it with such a crowded night. The two men at the desk were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

18/10/2017

We used to stay here frequently when in the Hannibal area but haven't visited for a few years. This hotel was always our first choice because of it's location and service. Somewhere along the line the forgot about service, cleanliness and quality. If it wasn't for it's great location, I doubt it would be used near as often.

18/10/2017

The Best Western on the River is an older hotel which has been updated yet retains the old charm. The layout is unique and centered around the pool. When traveling with the children, it is always one of their favorites. For the most part the staff is friendly. The breakfast area is very welcoming and we plan on staying when possible.

We have stayed in Hannibal every year for the past 7 years now usually staying at the less pricey hotels but This year we choose to try best western on the river and this was definitely a good choice. This hotel is WELL worth the little bit of extra money! All the staff was helpful and friendly, wide selections for breakfast, indoor and outdoor pool, everything was clean, stain free and smelled nice, quiet for the most part, we stayed in the new building so we also had a pretty view of the river. If you plan on spending time on or around the river front you can't beat their location, we walked to have dinner and drinks every night! All around Great hotel

"Walking distance to most attractions"

4
17/10/2017

The best thing about this motel is the convenience to Mark Twain attractions and the dinette across the street. It is a little older hotel but clean. The bathroom is very tiny and the distance between the desk and the bed is tight. My husband had to work at his computer, and I had to squeeze past many times to avoid tripping on the chair legs. It is right on the river and you can see it from the window, at least in our room. The oddest thing is that there is a swimming pool in the lobby! All of the rooms overlook it and make the air a little humid. They cover it at night and close it up around 8:00. The railroad runs past here also but the train whistles did not bother us at night.

Parking sucks!! Now that that's out of the way... This hotel was awesome. You can walk to most attractions, it's across the street from the Mark Twain diner... Best food in town. We had two rooms with double beds... Comfy, clean and big! Speaking of big... The hot tub is the biggest I've ever seen. Indoor pool was heated and very nice. Breakfast... You bet!! Honesty, great food! Breakfast was awesome right down to coffee cups for the drinks instead of those baby size cups you have to refill 5 times!!! I'm telling ya, stay here!!!

"Bad management and tv connectivity"

3
10/10/2017

I reserved two rooms online because I had stayed in the new building a few years ago and it was within walking distance of the town. I requested the new building in the special requests section. I called the Monday of the week I was to arrive to confirm the rooms would be in the new building. I was told that it was a good thing I called because they did not have me in the new building and confirmed that he made sure the rooms would be in the new building. Upon arrival, I was informed that not only did we not have rooms in the new building but was repeatedly told that they cannot reserve rooms and it states it clearly on the website. One of the employees (who was not the person checking us in), kept interrupting me when I tried to explain the confirmation I was given over the phone by repeating that they cannot reserve rooms. We suggested that they make sure their employees are aware of this. This man didn't seem to want to hear any of it. In fairness, the woman who checked us in atleast let me explain but offered no solution. I also received contradictory info about the types of rooms that are in the newer building. I was told by the person when I called that the rooms were different but we'd get two queen beds in our room and mentioned no difference in price. At the hotel they told us that all the rooms were double kings in the new building and that they were $299 / night. This would be an outrageous price for this location and hotel. One of my friends spoke with the manager the next morning and she also offered no apology and didn't seem to care - and of course offered nothing for their error. We considered switching hotels but liked the location. The room itself was comfortable enough, although the last two nights we were there we kept losing the tv connectivity. I didn't report it because we were in and out of the room. There are gaps between the doors and since it is indoors there are no outside windows. The door in the bathroom barely misses the toilet. The light and fan are connected to one switch which is outside the bathroom. The fan in the other room was loud according to my friend The breakfast was okay. A positive is a pancake/waffle maker that had 3 separate areas to put the batter so don't have to make as much as many waffle makers. They also had blueberry and stawberry compote for the pancakes as well as cheese to put on the eggs. They didn't have fresh oatmeal - just the packets. On the weekend they had sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy and potatoes. Monday morning they didn't have the potatoes. They had some yogurt and fruitcups along with limited fruit, bread and sweets. Parking is challenging in the old building. The first night I parked in the new building parking lot. Our rooms were on the third floor and in the back of the old building there is a parking area near the smoking area, which offers direct access to the third floor (after a flight of steps) Also, if you're on the third floo

Grace D, Manager at Best Western On The River, responded to this review

Overall the hotel was good. Great location within walking distance from all the tourist attractions. Right across the street from my favourite place Mark Twain Dinette Staff was ok. Front desk help was ok but not too friendly. Wish the pool and hot tub would have stayed open longer. Kind of an inconvenience if you have been out all day sightseeing then wanting to come in and relax in. They did offer us a group rate as we had a lot of family coming in town. Room was nice and comfortable. Would have loved to take one of those comfy pillows home.

First time booking on trip advisor. Got a good rate so we decided to stop here overnight. Clean room, nice employees and comfortable bed. Best Western was our go to motel years ago but for some reason we opted for Holiday Inn. We had to have a handicap room with a walk in shower. The shower was very nice and included a stool. The problem was there were no handrails around or close to the toilet. There was a raised threshold at the door. Made getting the luggage cart hard to get in the room. Had 2 choices, either raise the cart over the threshold or roll it back and push it hard and have it bounce over the threshold. Wife made a comment that the free breakfast did not look very appetizing so we went across the street to Mark Twains. If necessary we will stay at another Best Western but for us it will always be Holiday Inn.

The room was very clean. I appreciated the two king-sized beds in the newer building. Was glad the swimming pool was located in the older building. We had a 3rd floor room for a view of the river although the view wasn't that great. The best asset of the hotel is its location. We could have walked to the Steampunk festival from our hotel. If you arrive at the hotel after 10 pm on a weekend night, parking is an issue. We had to park in the street. Fortunately, there was street parking available. Room was quiet even though the hotel was full. Breakfast had some hot items like scrambled eggs. Nothing exceptional but adequate. The front desk in the newer building has a phone to call the other front desk in the older building. I thought that was a somewhat odd arrangement. Coffee in the lobby and in-room 24 hours. I would recommend this hotel based on its cleanliness and its great location.

This being said the staff were great and the ability to walk right down the road to shop at some unique little stores was awesome. We had the opportunity to meet some locals at one of the bars on main street and had a great time.

On the river? You can't even SEE the river! As a matter of fact, this older tourist trap still has rooms around an inside courtyard with a stinky pool, so there is no view of anything! And add a broken toilet and getting locked out of the hotel because the key cards don't work in the side door and it all makes for a delightful nightmare. We told the front desk about our concerns in the evening, but we had to "wait for a manager" in the morning. He refused to do anything. Be warned! Oh, and these are pictures of the "handicapped broken toilet with no grab bars and our wonderful view of the river!

Very clean with helpful staff. Historic district is within walking distance as is the river landing and river boat. We didn't have to use the car our entire stay. Reasonable prices. Loved that the AC unit wasn't on the wall to wake us up every time it came on. Breakfast was ok but could have had more variety

Visited over Labor Day weekend and the hotel and town were basically asleep. The pool closed at 8pm and only bars were open downtown. Stayed in the old section of the hotel and it felt a little run down. Last year we were in the new wing which is nicer. Breakfast was still good and the location is outstanding.

Had a great room in the annex. Everything was clean and comfortable. We had a view of the river. The check in staff were efficient, but the checkout person was not only efficient, but very friendly. The hotel is in the historical part of town and in walking distance of most of the attractions and the river. The cave is 2 miles up off of the road in front of the hotel and the Rockcliffe Mansion is way up the hill off of the road next to the hotel. Both places you might want to drive to. There are diners and restaurants within waling distance. The visitor center is almost next to the hotel. The breakfast is adequate and has enough choices to get you going for the day. Great place to stay.

The Best Western on the River in Hannibal is a clean, nice hotel. We were in Hannibal to see the Mark Twain sights and found the hotel's location to be idea. It is no more than a 5 minute walk to the nearest Twain sights. In addition, the Mark Twain diner directly across the street from the hotel is quite good. You will hear trains, though.

We've stayed at this hotel twice now, attending an annual event hosted in the Hannibal downtown. It's a very easy walk to downtown, which is why we came back this year, but it's not a great deal for what you pay (they raise the rates pretty obviously for these festivals). Breakfast here is probably the least impressive of any BW I've stayed at. We remembered that from the previous year and brought our own fruit and breakfast bars just so we wouldn't be starving too early. This year, as luck would have it, our room was in the 'annex' building, which is across the street from the 'main' hotel where you check in. Our room was very spacious and had a huge bathroom (the previous year in the main hotel, the room was far smaller; perhaps all in the annex are larger?) Plusses: the annex building is only three floors, so it was very quiet and the elevator is fast. The room was clean and in good shape (perhaps recently remodeled). Less awesome: The 'front desk' in this building is unmanned, as far as we can tell, so if there's an issue you have to trek across the street to the main building. Parking at the entire hotel is at a premium, but the lot at the annex is much better than at the main building (which is ridiculously tight and on an extreme hill).

This hotel has the basics and is perfectly located to do Mark Twain tourism in Hannibal. Our room was new and mostly clean (there were a few bugs), beds were comfortable, and shared areas were well maintained. But there were some surprising defeciencies in our stay. Staff wasn't friendly or especially helpful. They seemed unhappy. We were in a building across the street from the main building and the front wasn't staffed. They had a sad little breakfast spread there in the morning, and things like milk would often run out and there was no one on hand to help. The hot water was not hot enough for a comfortable shower only about half the time. It was a surprisingly bad stay at what I've found to be a pretty solid chain.

23/08/2017

We haven't been back to this area for many years and were pleasantly surprised that our room was booked in the new building next door to the original. The outdoor pool is adjacent to this building which was nice during the summer (would have to walk to other building for indoor pool, which would be a negative in winter). The rooms were wonderful which is no surprise with it being so new. We chose to eat breakfast in town so I can't rate their free offerings but I can say that they did have breakfast conveniently served in both buildings.

After receiving an electrical shock that all but knocked out my wife, we spoke with the management and they have repeatedly refused to do anything including offer a refund. Upon speaking three times with staff we called into best western corporate offices and they repeatedly "guaranteed" they would take care of it. However after over 5 weeks and several calls to corporate they now tell us that they can not help at all. DO NOT STAY HERE AND DO NOT STAY AT ANY BEST WESTERN HOTEL IN THEIR CHAIN AS THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS EVEN AFTER THEY ARE ALMOST KILLED BY FAULTY ELECTRICAL [email protected]!

We were on our way to Columbia MO for the eclipse. Didn't want to drive straight thru so Hannibal looked like a decent place to stay. Hotel was clean, room was actually one of the better rooms I've had at a mid range hotel. Very comfortable beds, good size flat screen tv. Bathroom was tight but all good. Pool was basically just outside our door. Temp was almost bathtub warm with heavy chlorine. Breakfast is included which was alright. Had several hot choices like scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy + the waffle machine. Had cereal, yogurts, pastry & juices. More then enough to get you moving. Place was steps from everything the town has.

Easily one of the BEST B/W Motels we have stayed in (I am a diamond member) because of the clean atmosphere from the rooms to the excellent "day room lobby" of tables inside a three story ceiling. The desk was very helpful in suggesting a fine evening meal place to eat. The fresh cookies were also pretty good & tasty. The breakfast area was large including a side - private dining area. I might give this very decent hotel a higher rating, but for two things. One is that the hotel where we stayed on our road trip just before staying here was brand new, exceptionally clean and well-appointed. As a result, we couldn't help but notice that this place, while well maintained, nonetheless is showing its age. It's not quite shabby, but without a renovation, it will be soon enough. Second, the hotel where we stayed on our road trip just after staying here had a super-fast, trouble-free WIFI, reminding us that the WIFI in this upscale Hannibal establishment was slower and not so dependable. On the other hand, the staff here were friendly and helpful, the location overlooking the river and the quaint downtown is superb, breakfast was edible, parking was free, and the tourist information office is directly across the street. The indoor pool must be safe to swim in, because the aroma of chlorine wafted amply through the corridors. We would stay here again.

Be sure to ask for the newer building of the the two that Best Western owns. They are across the street from one another. 09/08/2017

This hotel is just a block off Main St. in Hannibal...very convenient to several of the downtown attractions and restaurants. The rooms are clean but...at least in our case...could use a little TLC. There appeared to be a little water damage (possibly) in one corner of the ceiling. The bathroom door wouldn't close easily (would stick) and the hinges were rusty. The knob on the bi-fold door to the closet was placed on the left side instead of the middle and made the door difficult to open. The dresser and table/desk were oddly placed. The T.V. was on the left side of the dresser which was on the left side of the room. If someone in the bed on the right side of the room wanted to watch T.V. they would have to have their head turned pretty severely to see the screen. The legs of the office chair at the table/desk presented a toe jamming challenge. My wife and I both hit our feet on it. The window, which looked out to downtown Hannibal and the river, was very dirty. None of these things is major but all combined to detract from the hotel in general which is why I gave it 3 stars. One last thing...the side entrance doors are not electronically secured, anyone can walk in those doors. I hope that gets changed.

My parents moved to Hannibal last year but their house had some pipes break. BW on the river became their home for several weeks. Now when we come to visit the grandkids want to stay at "Grandma's hotel" because it has a pool. We are not easy guests, extremely loud and leave a mark everywhere we land with all the Little's. We were in the older building which has a pool and interior courtyard. Our room was comfortable enough but there was a slightly musty odor and my sinuses acted as if a bit of mold or mildew was in the air. Best part about this hotel was its location. Hotel consists of two buildings--the main one and the "new" one. We stayed in a double King in the new building and found it comfortable. There is only one good thing about this hotel.... leaving! The room smelled like someone smoked a case of cigarettes in it before we arrived. There were also drunk people making noise most of the night. And please don't expect to get anything for your room, had to carry the pack in play up to our room by ourselves and had to come down stairs to get an extra (dirty/uncomfortable) blanket. "Nice hotel downtown Hannibal"

4
18/07/2017

This hotel is right next to most everything downtown Hannibal which is a big plus, however it's a little dated. We asked for a quiet room and they put us on the first floor next to the exit into the parking lot, so we heard lots of foot traffic all night long. Perhaps a third floor room would have been better. The room was big and bed was super comfortable however the TV remote did not work, breakfast was just okay. Parking lot is small and it's somewhat tricky pulling into the drive up check in area.

14/07/2017

My dad, son, and I stayed a night here on our "grand midwest tour". We had been staying at cheaper hotels and decided to spend a bit more money and stay at a little nicer place on our last night. This hotel was located in a great spot to explore Hannibal. Its almost across the street from the Mark Twain boyhood home neighborhood and only a block off Main st. Because of this, to a certain degree, I think this hotel caters to older visitors. There weren't a lot of other kids around, which made for a quiet experience. The pool is very warm...I could have taken a bath in it warm. this isn't a bad things, but something I noticed. The beds are comfortable, as are the pillows. The hotel and rooms are clean and the breakfast is good with plenty of selections for morning dining. My only real knock was that he A/C in the rooms didn't seem to working as well as I would have liked. It was on, but air vents were closed when we got to the room and it didn't blow as cold of air and I would have guessed. Still, not a bad stay. I would stay here again if I'm in the area.

"New Annexe Is Good"

4
06/07/2017

We stayed here end of June for 2 nights and were very happy with our booking. We were put in the new annexe, 3rd floor so we had a lovely view of the river, which was particularly lovely at sunset ( we left the windows open for the nice cool breeze). Bedding and beds very comfortable with good quality sheets. Two king size beds and a sofa and the room didn't feel too small with 2 adults and a teenager. The bathroom was also roomy with plenty of counter space and good lighting. I'm not sure how long the annexe has been open but everything felt quite modern and fresh. The convenience of being right in the middle of this small town and not having to take the car but able to wander and walk everywhere (except the caves of course) was a nice bonus. Hannibal is lovely town and a nice break away from bustling traffic and lots of people. We originally thought we'd booked too long and there wasn't enough to do but we filled the time nicely with visiting the Mark Twain museum, riverboat cruise, the caves, Mark Twain one man show. The pool is in the other building so I can't comment as I only saw it briefly when we checked in, but we were happy where we were. Breakfast is good, bagels, cereal, coffee etc and quite sufficient. We enjoyed our stay.

05/07/2017

Chose this hotel for a girlfriend weekend in Hannibal, & the location was great to be able to walk to all the area attractions that we wanted to visit. We weren't able to use the pool or large jacuzzi due to hours of 9-9. Being quiet with all rooms surrounding that area was understandable, but it would have been nice to be open until 10. Be aware the parking is extremely tight, & we know someone else's brand new vehicle was parked very carefully because of this, it was still hit & no info was left. Redesigned parking is needed! The bathroom is the ONLY place to plug anything in near the mirror outside the bathroom door, & there are NO lights in this area at all...this seriously needs to be improved somehow. The refrigerator in the room was appreciated, & the beds were comfortable. The free breakfast was very sparse about 20 min. before serving ended, always hope that it will be refilled if there are still people arriving to eat. Nice hotel, slightly above avg. price, great location!

#1 it is NOT on the river. It's close but no cigar. They are not allowed to have a hotel on the river in this area so that's why it's not there......or so they said. The hotel was ok but really, for the price I expected much more. The rooms were much like the old hotel/motel rooms of the 60's. Very small bathroom, but clean (except for the soap dish) and fairly well appointed. The beds were nice and comfy and the room was clean. You could tell it was a renovation of an old hotel and attention to detail was not their forte'. The breakfast was lacking in numerous ways but I guess was adequate. Many of the items were out or near out, cold (when they should be hot) and not so very attractive or appetizing. Parking was a real nightmare!! Well.....ok, maybe just a bad dream! Few parking spaces and a bit difficult to navigate but it worked out ok with us. Overall, I rate it average and 30% overpriced!!

The rooms are in excellent condition and the breakfast was great. The air conditioning is like central air so it was nice and quiet. Staff was friendly and knew the area well. We arrived late due to weather so didn't get enough sightseeing time but will stay at the Best Western On The River next trip.

"Short stay but great"

22/06/2017

Nice helpful people greeted me at the front desk, quickly got me a room though I had no reservation (roadtrip stopover was unexpected). Breakfast very good, and clean tables in the dining area which is a rarity nowadays. Location was excellent and allowed me to add some historic sites to my stay since this is right at the Mark Twain area. Rooms nicer than expected and great value. I thought the hotel was super cheap compared to what I normally stay in but it was just as nice!

"Did not meet expectations "

22/06/2017

Honestly this hotel didn't live up to our expectations. It's a beautiful hotel and we had a great room, everything smelled good and appeared clean, and it's right in the heart of town. The problems started this morning when we discovered a wet moldy towel up on top of our clean towels that had infected the other towels. Some of them being towels people had already used... Definitely a health risk. We then discovered a moldy sippy cup under one of the beds and the juice down in the breakfast bar had turned bad. Honestly the whole breakfast was pretty lame, I would skip it if possible. This hotel has a lot of potential, it seems well maintained and the pool is gorgeous but mold is a big deal and when we told them about it at the front desk they brushed it off by offering us $22 off the cost of the room. $22 for mold..? I have no idea where she got that number but we did not feel that the issue was resolved. Don't let the appearance fool you, be sure to check your towels and such if you stay here.

"Misleading Room Description"

21/06/2017

When I checked for available rooms, the website showed a king suite with a large square jacuzzi. That looked good. I travel a lot and always try to get a square tub, the triangle ones are not comfortable. I reserved the room. I was VERY disappointed when I entered the room and saw a small triangle tub. I told the desk clerk that the tub was not the one pictured in the room description. She said that only the queen suite has the square tub, not the king suite. So why do they use the same picture in both room descriptions? I felt like I had been conned into reserving that room, with false advertising. For me, the tub is the most important factor in choosing a place to stay, and I never reserve a place that does not show a square tub. In this case, the square tub pictured was a lie.

What a great time we had at our family reunion. The staff, especially the two mangers were excellent and so much fun to deal with during our stay. We had a large family reunion and the facility was excellent for that.

This was our second stay at this Best Western but the first time in the new addition. Rooms were excellent. New, clean, all the amenities we needed and a very good free breakfast. We will positively stay here when back in Hannibal.

I first stayed at this hotel when my daughters were young. As a working single mom, I didn't have much money for vacation. We would come to Hannibal for 1 night, and stay at this hotel. We would see the sights in town, then return to the hotel to swim and order in a pizza. Fast forward 15 years. My fiancé and I brought my youngest daughter to Hannibal. This time, we stayed 2 nights at this hotel. I still love it!!! Clean, very nice place, great pool, wonderful breakfast. My favorite hotel ever!!!!

The hotel is located within walking distance of all of the downtown area. The staff was very helpful in pointing out the attractions and giving good directions to get to them. We had dinner at a restaurant recommended by the hotel. It was called "La Binnah". We had excellent food and great service.

We especially like this hotel because it's within walking distance of old town Hannibal. The hotel itself is very pleasant, and we have stayed here in the past when in town for events. It's clean, quiet, and just a nice place to visit.

29/05/2017

We were looking for a hotel in Hannibal, Missouri area for a Saturday night stay and came across the Best Western. It sits about four blocks from the Mississippi and we could see the river from our room. The hotel is downtown and within easy walking distance of restaurants. We drove because of fairly steep hill back up to hotel. Hotel is two separate buildings across the street from each other. One has an indoor pool and the other has an outdoor pool. We used neither. The rooms were modern and clean. I would definitely come back if in the area.

"Best Location in Hannibal"

5
28/05/2017

This hotel is an older hotel that has been remodeled. The rooms are very nice and pleasant. The location is the best place to stay in Hannibal because it is within walking distance of downtown. Once you arrive, you can park your car and explore Hannibal on foot. There is a pool in the hotel that is in the open area in the hotel. All of the rooms overlook the interior of the hotel so you are either overlooking the pool or the lounge area. The pool closes at 10 and the cover is put over it so no one cause use it after that time. Even though my room was not overlooking the pool, I did not hear any noise from the pool in the room. I definitely recommend staying at this hotel because it is very nice. The employees were very friendly and definitely make sure you enjoy your stay at the Best Western. I would not stay anywhere else if I visit Hannibal again.

19/05/2017

We stayed here on our way to Florida. The hotel is a nice place with friendly staff. We stayed on the river side and I wouldn't recommend it. Between the traffic and trains, it was noisy. Stay in one of the rooms facing away from the road. The bed and room were comfortable and clean. The hotel was near the River View Park which we went to get our daily walk in. We walked downtown and over to the river. Most places were closed since it was after 5, but we did stop at a brewery and another sidewalk cafe. The breakfast was good and there were hot items to select. This was a nice place to visit and I enjoyed our stay.

This is a very older style of hotel with the room surrounding the pool and lobby. The room windows face the lobby with no exterior windows. We were on the ground level and it was a little unsettling. Overall the room was fine, just a little pricey.

"Really nice place to stay and close to town and river"

11/05/2017

My wife and I stayed one evening here. The hotel is located in town just a block from the river. This was a nice clean hotel with friendly staff and better than average breakfast. We ate close by at the Mark Twain Brewery which had good food and crafted beers. The only drawback was limited parking around the hotel. There may have been parking in an extra lot, but it was not crowded and we found parking near the room. The room had all the amenities, nice beds and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms opened to a large lobby area where the pool and hot tubs were located, as well as a relaxing area for watching the news and comfortable couches and chairs. We liked the amount you got for your value. There was also an elevator that was glass that overlooked the lobby area. I would recommend this place.

The Best Western in downtown Hannibal, MO is definitely the place! Ask for a room in the annex---it is new & our was very attractive with 2 queen beds, a couch, easy chair, & desk & chair. The bath room was very nicely decorated. The hotel is within easy walking distance of all the Mark Twain attractions, plus shops, restaurants, & coffee shops. A real winner at a great price!

08/05/2017

We recently had a 2 night stay here. We've never been to Hannibal before and saw that this hotel had great reviews. The room was updated and clean and we had a gorgeous view of the Mississippi River from our window. Free wi-Fi and breakfast were included. Front desk and any other staff we spoke with were friendly and helpful. The hotel location was terrific as we could walk to most any place we wanted to go in town. Our only complaint was that this was an open concept plan having the swimming pool as center of the main lobby area. This meant that you got a strong waft of chlorine when you entered the building and it seemed to seep into the rooms as well.

The name is a bit misleading since the hotel is NOT on the river. It is a block over. It is a clean, nice location for a stay in Hannibal. It is within walking distance of several places to eat and things to see. We only stayed one night as we were traveling through but it was a nice hotel for the price. The breakfast had plenty of choices with eggs, waffles, cerebral , yogurt and pastries.

This was the 7th motel stay for my wife and I in as many nights. We were traveling from California to South Dakota via the southern route. We stayed in Missouri for 4 nights, including two at this location. This is the best of the overnight lodgings in that period. Hannibal is a fun place to visit and the BW on the river the best location you can have there. The service was great, breakfast selection good, the beds (most important) very comfortable and the staff were outstanding. I give this location our highest rating, and we travel two or three months a year.

We highly recommend this hotel. Not only is it clean and updated, it also is within walking distance from anything you'd want to see in Hannibal. We didn't even have to use our car once during our 2-day visit. And the hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. There's a nice indoor pool in case you like to swim. And there's coffee and cookies in the large lobby. Breakfast was very good.

Best hotel I've stayed at in a long time. I don't have one complaint except that the indoor pool closed at 9, which I understand, my kids were just disappointed. 14/04/2017

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Everything is nearby. We love to walk so it was perfect. Hannibal is a lovely city. Our room was on the 3rd floor in a corner which was nice. The pool is in the main lobby area so you do smell the chlorine when you walk in. It didn't take long for us to get used to it. Breakfast was the greatest. I am a tea drinker and I appreciate the hotels who have the hot water heaters so it is available 24/7. They just put out a thermos type hot water container. We did not use the pool but the children looked like they were enjoying it. The pool closes at 9 PM so the noise level drops at that time. Parking can be a little tricky especially if you have a large vehicle. They do have a second building. If you go at a busy time and your a senior citizen wanting quiet time I would check into it. I thought the price was very reasonable. I doubt if we will ever go back to Missouri but if I did I would stay there again.

This hotel is one of the nicest we have stayed in. The layout was great and makes you think you are in a high end place. Indoor pool was nice being in the middle of the hotel where it can be looked down upon from the hallways. It does have an auxiliary building that we did not see. Parking left something to be desired but it was a great stay! Beds were very comfortable and the place was clean.

We parked the car when we arrived and didn't use it during the entire visit. The hotel is in easy walking distance of the Trolley tour, the boat tour, the Tom Sawyer house and Mark Twain museum, and all downtown shops and restaurants. Super easy to get around and find things. We had a room on the third floor with a view of the river. Room is nice and pretty updated. Included breakfast is decent. Small pool and hot tub. The hot tub has very low pressure and also not very hot, was the main disappointment of our stay. Overall, very good and would recommend.

25/11/2016

This hotel is perfectly located for downtown Hannibal & the Mark Twain attractions. Other than that it's just what I'd expect from a Best Western - comfortable, clean room, decent breakfast, ample parking & friendly staff. We were in the building across from the main building, which is a little bit "sterile" in atmosphere, but otherwise just fine. Pricewise, somewhat expensive for what it is, but the location makes it worth the price.

"Centrally located for easy walking in Hannibal"

4
20/11/2016

The hotel is an older motel but everything was spic and span and updated. The central lobby had a pool and all the rooms opened inward so as to see pool....even the upper floors. There was a slight smell of chlorine in the lobby but not the rooms. They enforced a 9pm pool closing so it was quiet. The staff was courteous and breakfast was good. Parking was somewhat tight. The motel put you in easy walking distance of most local attractions. I would stay here again.

Our room was exactly as we expected it to be. We stayed at the back of the hotel as others thought the trains were too loud on the front. Our room was very quiet. Parking is a problem, very limited. Entrance area is only one car wide. Meal: eggs were not hot, Milk was sour and OJ was weak. We complained and we received a fresh milk, and the OJ was refilled. Bed was comfortable, room was quiet, and staff was extra helpful and friendly. . Clean and nice decorations. The were painting the front wall as we were leaving, which will give a much nicer look to the front of the building..

This would be an amazing stay for couples. When I went with !y family, we were lucky enough to have a river facing room. That night there was a full moon and the view was gorgeous. Very romantic. Ask for a river facing room. Nice staff, close to everything. Diner across the street. Indoor pool and hot tub.

"Nice and close to all the Mark Twain buildings and attractions"

03/11/2016

This hotel isn't on the river but you can actually see the Mississippi from your room if it's facing the street. It's just a short walk down the road to see all the nicely done buildings and museums dedicated to Mark Twain. The hotel has a pool and hot tub inside it's fully covered "court yard". The trains that are passing by at night will make themselves known. You can't really escape that in Hannibal, no matter where you stay. Breakfast is ok with a better than average selection of hot items, too. I can certainly recommend this place. Staff are very friendly and accommodating and there's ample parking on the side of the building.

"Great location; nice stay"

01/11/2016

The Best Western isn't right on the river, but it is close enough. Located just up the street from Tom Sawyer's boyhood home, it is perfectly situated as a base for walking around and seeing the sights of downtown. Our room was quite comfortable even though we faced the street. It was well insulated from sound; we only heard the occasional motorcycle roaring by despite being on a major road through downtown. One issue with the room, however is the lack of brightness of the room lights (a common complaint of ours). Most hotels seem to want to save on electricity rather than have a room bright enough to read in. Breakfast was the standard "complementary" fare. Cereal, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, biscuits and gravy, waffles, etc. The quality was fine, but the serving trays were annoying and a bit unsanitary. The plastic tops above each tray kept slipping into the food whenever you open them, so you got your food, plus potentially a bit of whatever the person before you had on their hands when they replaced the top. This should be an easy fix, so we were surprised to see that it hadn't been corrected. Minor problems aside, this is a fine place to establish your base so you can explore Hannibal.

"Location!"

4
31/10/2016

If you are in the Hannibal area for fun, this is the place for you! Centrally located near all the Mark Twain activities and shops of downtown, this is a walk away from it all. Across the street from Mark Twain Dinette, it is right on the main drag. Clean, good staff, quiet and a great view of the Mississippi River. Down side: it is right on North 3rd St. and you will hear traffic and occasional train. Also, the pool closes at 9pm and breakfast was "okay".

"Nice Hotel"

25/10/2016

We stayed overnight here on our trip down the Great River Road. I booked it online. It was very easy to find. Signs pointed directly to it. At checkin I asked if we had a room with a River view and they had already put with a great one on the corner of the hotel. This was awesome as we had windows on 2 sides. The room was very clean, bedding was first class . Big fluffy towels, big deep soaker bath tub. The lobby has a lot of seating area for lounging complete with 2 big tables and chairs. The pool and hot tub are sparkling clean and in the center of the hotel. Check in was great. Breakfast in the morning was taken care of by a fellow that was very proud of his service and cooking. It was great. He welcomed everyone and explained all the selections. This is a first class best western. The room we wanted and got had an awesome view of the river. One drawback was the noise. A number of trains went by during the night and they blow their whistle at every crossing. We also were on a very busy highway and the big trucks slow down for the corner then speed up for the hill. Very noisy for us so if that kind of thing bothers you ask for a room on the back side.

Are you kidding me? Where do I start? My room looked South and East on the quiet end of the third floor,so I got to view the Lord's sunrise and sunset overlooking the Mississippi River every day! I could easily walk in the historic district or by the river as well; I am not an energetic youth,so this is a lovely location. Grace,Michelle,Jeff,Kara,Austin, and all other names I did not get were just excellent, friendly, and helpful. Also,I can't leave chef Carl out,who used to work on a cruise ship! He is as hardworking and friendly as ever, and I love the daily breakfast he turns out. Environmental services were excellent, too, and so friendly. I just love the people here, who really make a difference and always go the extra mile-with a smile! Thankyou all so very much; you are Hannibal's best!

25/10/2016

Hannibal is a fascinating place to visit. I was able to stay only one day and a night but would love to go back and when I do I will stay again at the Best Western On the River for it certainly is. I had A BIRDS EYE view of downtown and the river from my hotel window. It was sure fun to watch the people but even more fun to watch the tug boats and barges going up and down the river. I highly recommend this hotel to all who love a river view.

"Not worth the stay"

25/10/2016

I came to Hannibal on a business trip and after reading several reviews I decided this hotel would probably be the best one in the area. There were two front desk receptionists when I checked in, one was very friendly and seemed somewhat new to her position, and the other was not very friendly at all, she wasn't engaging and seemed to be in a rush to get rid of me. The room was mostly clean, with the exception of nail clippings on the carpet next to the bathroom. The bed was very old and not very comfortable. The one thing that bothered me the most, and is the primary reason for the poor rating is the ridiculously loud trains that sound like they go by every hour all through the night. I didn't pass any train tracks, none of the reviews I read mentioned any noise from the trains, and I most certainly was not made aware of the trains by the front desk staff! I definitely don't recommend this hotel and will stay somewhere else if I ever have to come back to Hannibal.

This property is just steps away from everything Twain. I could see Mark Twain's home from my window…or at least I could have if it weren't for other buildings in the way. Restaurants, bars, and historic sites are all within walking distance. The room was clean but the free breakfast left a little to be desired. I think it was designed to be just like the food Mark Twain's ate.

Were planning a weekend trip to Hannibal and had no preference of hotels, just wanted something that sounded close to restaurants and shops. This hotel was ideal; there is a diner right across the street and other eating establishments either within walking distance or a short drive away.

"REALLY, REALLY NICE EXPERIENCE"

5
17/10/2016

This is one of those genuinely friendly and well run places that you like to share with others. The front desk clerk was knowlegible and proud of his town and recommended a great walkable place for dinner. Our room was on the atrium with the pool and we were a bit concerned about noise. No problem as the pool is not open at night or early in the am - and the rooms (Hilton quality) are very sound proofed. The full breakfast (free) had a lot of variety (including no gluten) and was good. Hannibel is in a region with lots of smokers, which makes this all-no smoking hotel a great chòice for us. Great location; very short walk to river and attractions.

The Internet worked great and was easy to connect to. We did not use the pool but it looked very nice and clean. The lobby was well maintained and offered large tables for groups to get together in the evening. The hot breakfast was fairly good with a nice variety of items.

We had a lovely time in Hannibal. The location of the Best Western was perfect. It is an older hotel and could use a little sprucing but the staff were great. The room was clean and comfortable. We would stay again.

Located very close to old downtown Hannibal and Mark Twain exhibits. Quiet except for an occasional train -- didn't hear any after 9 or 10 o'clock PM though. Room was a good size and everything was ready for our stay.

"Great Place to stay"

Our room was very spacious, clean. The bed very comfortable and they had an excellent hot breakfast. Excellent location for easy walking to the Mark Twain boyhood home and downtown and to the riverfront. Would most certainly stay there again.

Although this was just a stop over for the night we plan to go back for a weekend. Rooms were very clean and quiet. Front desk clerk was friendly and informative. The breakfast was the best I have had for a free breakfast at a hotel.

A city is disrepair. So sad to see the derelict condition of an important site. Mark Twain is an icon in American history. His city composed of beautiful old buildings that are in derelict condition. I will not return unless the state takes an interest in preserving these old glorious buildings.

"Excellent motel/super breakfast."

This is a great place to stay in Hannibal . Location is within an easy walk to tourist stuff. Three blocks up from the river. The room was very quiet. Ours had an extremely quiet a/c controlled by a wall thermostat. Indoor pool inner atrium set up. The BEST breakfast: Selection. Freshness. Breakfast area. Totally impressed with this place. Super comfortable bed. Great wifi. Would definitely stay again.

Stopped in Hannibal Mo on way to visit in Kansas. Hotel was located downtown and near a lot of museums and restaurants. Hotel was very clean and well maintained. Room was roomy had had a great view of the Mississippi River.

"Loved this Hotel"

03/10/2016

This hotel was more than what we expected. We requested a river view, which it was stretching it, but we did get it. But, we were amazed at how nice our room was. The room was huge. 2 King sized beds, a sofa & the bathroom was beautiful. The whole room was very pretty. The breakfast that was included was delicious. They served scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, fruit, and more. The location was perfect. Walking distance to the historic district. We were more than pleased

"Very satisfied"

28/09/2016

This hotel is everything that was advertised. We were very happy with the room and all the amenities. The only thing that was a little disappointing is that the breakfast room is not large enough and the line for the buffet is very slow moving. Might I suggest that the buffet be moved to the center of the room thereby allowing guests to use both sides of the buffet. Staff was very friendly and helpful..Very nice hotel, I made the right choice.

"Visiting Hannibal? Perfect Location."

26/09/2016

Walking into the 3-story hotel, we first noted the chlorine smell from the indoor pool. Thankfully, that dissipated Our room, on the third floor, was comfortable and large. Our river river view was tough due to the dirty window. Inside of the room was very clean, however. Decent breakfast, helpful staff, excellent location near Twain sites and shopping - especially if you're into quilting.

The new building next door to main hotel is less than 2 years old and very nice. "Free" Breakfast is average for it's kind. Easy walking distance to downtown Hannibal for food, drink and shopping. Nice people!

"Best Western on the River is NOT on the river"

2
24/09/2016

Couple of days ago we stayed at this hotel. The name is very deceiving...it is not on the river, but 2 or 3 blocks away. We did get a river view, BUT, the windows were so messed us...cloudy glass...you could only see out in about a 1/4 of the window. Also, the door did not close unless you kind of lifted it as you closed it. Except for the lady at check in, the personnel kept their heads down and were not very friendly.

"Best in the area"

5
23/09/2016

The accommodations were excellent, the staff was first class, and the location was ideal. I'll look forward to my next stay here and won't hesitate to adjust my schedule in order make that happen. The location was very convenient to access from Int 72 and US Hwy 61.

"Very Convenient location"

3
21/09/2016

Our room on the third floor of the new building had a nice view of the river. The room was quite large and the bathroom clean and adequate. Free wifi was appreciated. Nothing fancy about this hotel, just the basics, but the room did have microwave and small frig. Main complaint is that the room and hallways had a strange smell. It might have been from new carpet but it was a chemically and unpleasant odor that permeated everything.

"Solid Value Excellent Location"

21/09/2016

I stayed here because of the brand on the first night of my trip and stayed again on the way home because of the hotel itself. The location is ideal for visiting the historic downtown on the river and if that's not interesting to you, there's an excellent diner across the street. There are two separate buildings to this holel. I stayed in the older, original building. The newer expansion is across the side street. My building was ready for a cosmetic upgrade, but everything was clean, comfortable and functional. The bed must have been newer; it slept like a dream. The layout of the older building made me think it might be a noisy night - it's the old style of rooms facing an interior courtyard with the swimming pool in the middle. (All indoors). That usually means screaming echos, but there was a sign about hours and quiet times and I was lucky because the hotel was filled with two buses of seniors on a trip. They must have gone to bed at 10 because I did hear people talking around the pool, but it was perfectly quiet by 10. Everything worked: TV, WiFi, Lamps, Shower. The remote was ready for a new battery, but overall I had no problems. There were plenty of luggage carts, the staff was helpful, efficient and polite. The breakfast was plentiful: eggs, potatoes, meat, gravy, fruit, breads, waffles, yogurts. There was plenty of space to sit, even with a full house. I heard that the outdoor pool was wonderful, but I didn't see it. I did wander the neighborhood for 5 or six blocks to stop in the various shops and museum attractions. There was plenty of refreshment options: restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, ice cream, fudge and a tiny general store. I ate at the Mark Twain diner across the street twice. It was very nice. The directions to the hotel seemed confusing but once I got there and then left again, it was pretty clear that all roads lead to and from Hiway 61. Very easy the 2nd time. I will definitely stay again - excellent value for the price.

Drove to the area for a meeting.when I checked in no one at the front desk mentioned an air conditioning problem.i noticed the fan in my room.thinking that was odd.I set the air and left.at 9:30 pm upon my return to room,I noticed how hot it was in there.was informed by desk that indeed the air was broken.and there were no other rooms.

Excellent hotel. Have stayed before and enjoyed. Nice pools/hottub. Very comfortable and great location. Enjoyed breakfast and was very comfortable bed/temperature of room. Only place I stay when I have come to Hannibal.

19/09/2016

The hotel has 2 sections. We stayed in the newer bldg on 2nd floor. Room was very clean, staff was friendly and it's walking distance to about everything you would want to see and do. The outdoor pool was the best I have enjoyed at a motel/hotel stay. Pristine!! My only disappointment is the name of the hotel is misleading. This hotel is NOT on the river. There is a street, then a row of businesses, then another street, then another row of bussinesses......THEN the river. We could only see a tiny sliver of the river from our room. I don't know how much difference there would have been if we would have stayed on the 3rd floor. If you truly want a room with a river view this isn't it. However; overall, it was a great stay!

Room was clean but the bed was way to hard for my liking. Staff was rude and unaccommodating. Needed an early check in desk clerk, on both shifts, just said no. Not lets see what we can do or no I sorry just no. To busy to smile. Did not get the feeling they liked or wanted tourists in their historic little town.

"Nice hotel with lovely staff"

5
16/09/2016

They couldn't do enough for us. So obliging. Hotel is in the centre if town and ideally placed for just about everything. Quiet. Nice and clean. Breakfast was plentiful and nice to eat. Pools looked nice though sadly didn't have time to try. Very happy

"Great Room..."

4
16/09/2016

We were assigned to a room in the newer building which was great, spacious, and well appointed with two King beds; the hotel is centrally located near restaurants and Mark Twain attractions. The bed was extremely comfortable. The only negative for us was the almost non-existent wifi connection in the room which is important as internet connection without it is almost non-existent in the town. The wifi connection was much better in the older building where the front desk is located. We would still stay here on our next trip to Hannibal; the facilities are great and very relaxing.

"Nice"

4
16/09/2016

The room we had was in the building next door. It was a very nice room, and an excellent bed. The next time we will stay here again, but we will eat breakfast elsewhere. The buffet layout created lots of waiting, and congestion. The food was fair, at best.

"Nice room but very loud!"

3
15/09/2016

The room was very nice and the location is great! The gentleman who runs the breakfast was passionate about providing good food and service as well. However, the courtyard concept inside the building with the rooms looking down on a swimming pool inside on one side and a gathering area with tables and TV etc. on the other made for a VERY loud and late night despite the pool closing a 10:00 pm!

"Great River View"

4
14/09/2016

We stayed in the newer building right in the middle on the third floor. Got to watch the river boat and barges go by. Nice room with sufficient amenities. Bed was very comfortable. You couldn't ask for a more convenient location to visit Hannibal. So much better than staying on the Highway!

"Ejoyable trip to Hannibal"

4
13/09/2016

We were very happy with our recent stay, the only thing we were disappointed with was the times for the pool/hot tub. 9 to 9 can be a little hard to fit in when you're out site seeing. We did make it to the pool and weren't impressed. The hot tub had very little power behind the jets, just lightly swirling hot water. The pool was nearly as warm as the hot tub, not cool and refreshing. We would certainly consider staying again. One thing that we found funny, the mirror in the bathroom in 223 really needs to be straighten. whoever installed it needs a level.

"Easy walking distance"

4
11/09/2016

Within a couple blocks of most tourist venues and many restaurants. Clean, comfortable, nice room, a little crowded. 2 separate buildings, indoor pool only in main.Take your own pillows. Their new ones are too big for comfort.

"Great location, Wonderful room!!!"

5
10/09/2016

Very nice view of the River, Was pleasantly surprised at the room!! Very roomy. very clean and very comfortable beds!!! Great location, we could walk to all the museums and trolly and dinner at the Brewery, which was also very good. Also great breakfast!!

"Nice Hotel"

4
09/09/2016

Best Western is close to the main attractions near the river. There are good restaurants, snack shops, retail shops, historical sights, tours, a sightseeing boat and other things to see and do. The hotel has a refrigerator and microwave. The room is a good size with comfortable beds and a large bathroom. They have breakfast available. There is a pool and hot tub and exercise room.

"Great stay"

5
09/09/2016

We recently stayed at here over Labor Day weekend for the Steampunk Festival. The rooms were very nice and clean with all amenities needed. The checking process was very short and accommodating. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful stay. We will be booking again for next year and all future stays in Hannibal. As we visit Hannibal often. They also have a very nice full breakfast.

"Next to Mark Twain's house"

4
07/09/2016

If you want to stay within just a few yards of the historical district, particularly Mark Twain's, Huck Finn's and Becky Thatcher's houses, this is the place. The Big Muddy is just 2 blocks east, and there are fun shops and restaurants nearby. We asked for a river view room, and were accommodated very nicely by a great and caring staff. My only complaint is that the windows were almost opaque with fog, dirt and general discoloration. They need to be replaced. After all, what good is a "river view" room if you can't see through the windows. Breakfast was so-so, typical free buffet fare.

"On The River"

5
07/09/2016

Enjoyed our third floor room view. Very nice hotel, close to many attractions. Especially enjoyed strolling along the river and watching the boats. Nice brewpub/ restaurant nearby. Check-in and checkout was easy. Nice pool and restaurant in hotel.

"ok, except several problems"

4
06/09/2016

all ok, but fridge was broken. also , i reserved through best western website, and asked a room next to our friends. Hotel staff stated that they did not get that request, and that best western website is not working properly.

"It is clean and close to down town"

3
06/09/2016

Rooms are very small. We rented two rooms for the steampunk festival. The toilet did not work that well. It was $125.00 a night and not really worth the price. Breakfast buffet was good. The gentleman tending it was very dedicated to what he was doing. He was really proud of his pepper gravy. It is probably one of the better breakfast buffets. The people above us were loud and heavy walkers. My husband and I did not sleep that well.

"This Best Western Really Is The Best"

5
05/09/2016

This hotel never disappoints when we have stayed here, but this was extra special. We stayed in the new building, next to the other one Room was gorgeous, clean and spacious. Approximately 30' ft w x 15 ' .While other hotels are getting stingy with soap, shampo, coffee etc these folks have amped up with everything to make your stay pleasant. Staff is swell, breakfast was fantastic. Hot biscuit and sausage gravey was delicious. Eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, cereals, and the BEST coffee. Clean and nicely displayed. Lady in kitchen was a sweetie. It is right downtown next to the action. Take your earplugs if your a light sleeper. There is a train whistle at night. Room 342 has a great view and you can see the boats on the river. No problem getting a space in new parking lot. Can't wait for our next stay.

"Not worth the price"

2
04/09/2016

I recently traveled to Hannibal, Mo as a stopover on my way to visit a relative at college for the Labor Day weekend. I made the reservation the day before we arrived and was quoted a price of $150.00 plus $22.00 tax (172.26) for two people two queen beds. I asked about AARP or AAA rates and was told that was their lowest rate - no discounts. Since there are not many hotel options in Hannibal I reluctantly made the reservation hoping that somehow a standard room at a Best Western would be worth $172.26. Those hopes were dashed the minute I walked through the lobby doors. I was unfortunately met with the overwhelming smell of chlorine!!! Next to the front desk in the lobby is the swimming pool. Guests be warned - you will get splashed walking to your room or elevator! Even thought I had a very unpleasant first impression the front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was located on the second floor overlooking the pool. So the noise from the pool was very loud. The room was adequate but no where near the price I was charged. The TV did not work but when I called someone from the front desk promptly came up to our room to fix it. (He was very nice) Also with noting the bottom of the bathtub/shower was wobbly and uneven. Our room did have windows that opened but the noise from the street and trains made it necessary to keep them closed. The location of this hotel is convenient for walking downtown in historic Hannibal and is blocks from the Mississippi River. There are actually two separate buildings at the hotel with adequate parking at each. So be sure to ask for the other building without the pool unless you love the smell of chlorine. You are given a parking tag for your vehicle at check in. The hotel is on the main drag so there is a lot of traffic noise as well as train horns from railroad tracts two blocks away. There are restaurants and shops within walking distance but be warned - do not eat at the Mark Twain Dinette across the street. Absolutely the worst food on the planet. It's tasteless, plastic institutional food quality. There were several tables around us who complained about the quality of their food and received free meals. We did not complain as we had a young waitress who was very overwhelmed at that point. We paid our bill and left most of our food uneaten on our plates. The breakfast at the hotel was less than good. Even though there was a tip jar prominently displayed the counters were dirty and not much food. No fruit - except for two oranges. So all in all I was very disappointed with my stay at the Best Western on the River. It would have been ok if I was paying an average price for an average hotel, but it was very very overpriced - taking advantage of the Labor Day weekend and a SteamPunk convention in town. Would not recommend this hotel.

"GREAT PALCE TO STAY FOR ALL ACTIVITIES"

Have stayed here before and loved location. Easy walk to River District. Always a lot going on. Room was very nice and beds are always great. Breakfast was good. Typical Best Western breakfast. Loved this hotel and the town of Hannibal.

"Always very nice and convenient"

29/08/2016

This is a wonderfully maintained hotel. We've been coming here for years and it's always the same. It never disappoints! The whole facility is clean and the rooms are updated. The main building is built around the indoor pool and large jacuzzi. The rooms must be sound proofed because you don't notice the swimmers even when the pool is full of kids. After 10 pm the facility is quiet. There is also an outdoor pool. The hotel is across the street from the Mark Twain Diner which has delicious and reasonably priced food. It is also within walking distance to the shops, sights, river boat, night life, and river boat. You can also walk to the light house if you can handle the 220 stairs! The hotel staff are very friendly and make every effort to ensure your stay is pleasant. The rooms are large and have a large tv, large fridge, iron, blow dryer. The shower has good water pressure . I would definitely recommend this hotel for your Hannibal stay. It's great for kids, families, and couples.

"Location and quality"

29/08/2016

On the River it is! Right down town Hannibal overlooking the Mississippi River and the downtown area just a short walk to many of the best attractions. Great comfortable Beds, clean and quiet. Breakfast was good, scrambled eggs or pancakes, I had oat meal with dried cranberries, nuts, and granola.

"Nice Place to Stay"

27/08/2016

The hotel is in a great location. Easy walking to many attractions and restaurants. Very clean and updated. The staff was very friendly. The only downside was that the air didn't keep the room quite cool enough. We had a great view of the river from our third floor room.

"Great Location"

26/08/2016

We enjoyed every minute of our trip to Hannibal, MO. The hotel was the perfect location and we could walk every where in town. The facility was clean and the staff very accamadating. The kids loved swimming in the pool every day and breakfast gave us all a good start to the day.

"Clean hotel"

5
24/08/2016

Let's start with the room every room had to King beds and a pull out coach and it was a very cheap hotel. The pools were the cleanest pools I had every seen. The staff also told me they clean the pools and hot tubs every day. There was a Indoor pool and hot tub and a out door pool and hot tub.

"A Visit to Hannibal"

4
24/08/2016

On our way back to Minnesota from other parts of the Midwest, my son and I booked a "Haunted Hannibal Tour", so we called the Best Western close to downtown Hannibal to book a room. The staff was on top of things, for when we arrived at the motel at 6:30 PM on the dot, we only had 15 minutes left before assembling at the tour site. Motel staff had our room all ready and told us the quickest way to reach the place where the tour was to begin. Consequently, we had no time to plop our tired selves on those wonderful looking beds until well after 9:00 PM. Once back at the motel, the pool was unfortunately closed. I was almost tempted to cut through the pool cover and take a lap or two just the same. By morning we needed to be on our way so didn't have a chance to jump in and get wet. The room we had was clean and comfortable. Being that it faces the indoor pool, I could not help but wonder how quiet the room might be on a busy summer weekend. I'll have to find out the next time I'm in town.

"Hannibal MO"

5
23/08/2016

Our room was great with two king size beds. The view of the Mississippi river was wonderful and we got to see the sunrise over it in the morning. The breakfast was very good and so was the service! The woman who served breakfast even gave us directions to our next destination and knew the area well.

"OK but OVERPRICED"

3
21/08/2016

We got to Hannibal late in the day and this was the first motel we came to and had a gift card but it barely covered the tax etc. It was way more than similar Best Westerns we have stayed at but I understand Hannibal is a tourist town. Children amused themselves riding up and down on the elevators but I suppose this was not management's fault. My main gripe is the lack of parking and had to park on a crowded slope and didn't feel my truck would be safe The breakfast was so-so. Not that it matters but it is not on the river but across the street

"Mark Twain"

4
21/08/2016

We had a very stay at the Best Western by the River in Hannibal, MO. It is a very convenient location directly across the street from the Mark Twain visitor area, one block from the main street and 2 blocks from the MIssissippi River. The location was the primary driver for selecting this hotel, however the hotel was clean, well appointed and the room was large and comfortable. I would recommend the hotel for anyone visiting the area

"Beautiful!"

5
20/08/2016

There were four of us. We had a river view room with two king size beds. The room was beautiful and the beds very comfortable. We had a VERY enjoyable experience with no problems whatsoever. We try to stay in Best Western when we can. We are rarely disappointed. This one does not disappoint.

"Broken air conditioning"

2
19/08/2016

First they have problems with the air conditioning and have fans blowing. The air is stuffy. Had I known, we would have gone elsewhere. The tub floor was shaky indication poor installation. The hotel is due for a facelift. And until they fix the air conditioning, stay away.

"They **** you at the drive-thru"

3
18/08/2016

Had reservations which had to be changed due to an unexpected thing... so had to arrive a day earlier than planned, so they jacked up the room rate. The price was pure gouging. In no way should you have to pay more than $200.00 for one standard room at a so-called "budget hotel" in friggin' Hannibal, Missouri. C'mon. And the hotel was far from being full. $200.00? Where do you think you are?

"Great place to stay on the river"

5
15/08/2016

Would definitely stay here again. Hotel was super clean and location is great! Breakfast buffet was very nice many choices. Asked for a late check out, the staff was very happy to comply. This was our second stay at this hotel and couldn't be more pleased.

"Wonderful property"

5
10/08/2016

I had a really nice visit to Hannibal MO. The Best Western was within walking distance to everything. It was clean, staff was great and breakfast was delicious. A little on the pricey side, but a great place to stay.

"Nice hotel"

4
08/08/2016

Very convenient to all attractions. Didn't use the car. Vending machines were empty of first 3 choices of soda. A bit of confusion by staff on checking in. but overall it was a very nice experience in this city of Mark Twain.

"Very pleasant short stay"

5
08/08/2016

Swung by for a couple nights on our way home from Iowa to Illinois. Desk staff was very accommodating. Had a very nice room on top floor of original building. There was some traffic noise, but not at a level that bothered us at all. Room looked as if may have been recently remodeled. Visited the hot tub one evening - one of the largest I have ever seen. Breakfast offered a good variety of usual hotel fare and had a very pleasant attendant. Very conveniently located to most of the historic attractions.

"Very clean "

5
05/08/2016

This hotel was great. We stayed in the new building. It's brand new. Two King size beds. Bathroom was spotless. Nice refrigerator and microwave in the room. There is an outdoor pool behind the new building. Looked nice. We didn't have time to get in. There is an indoor pool in the main building. Looked nice as well. We would definitely stay there again. Very close to all the downtown attractions.

"Great Location - Great Hospitality!"

31/07/2016

A baseball tournament brought 12 players and their families to the area. Hannibal, MO turned out to be a "gem" and a true slice of Americana. And Best Western On The River were wonderful hosts to us :) From the booking process where I reserved a block of rooms for our group, through check-out, Romaine and the other staff at BW were accommodating, patient and very kind. The morning breakfasts were great - make-your-own waffles was a big hit with the kids - and having both and indoor and outdoor pool offered a nice variety for our group. The new building is VERY nice, the old building is what one would expect, but clean. The big positive here was that there were multiple room arrangements available to meet the different needs of our different families - from space to price-point - everyone got what they needed. We had a couple free days mixed in with game days, and Hannibal offered so much for us to do - we enjoyed the riverboat, the caves, Sawyers Creek, and a minor league Cavemen game. And the parents enjoyed exploring this quaint town - with a couple great restaurants, bars, coffee shop, and shopping. Hannibal and BW ended up being a wonderful experience for us all!

First time to hannibal since i was little. Me and my husband had a good time. The front desk was very nice and friendly. They let us check in early but couldnt get the keys till around 3 which was fine. When we got to the room it was very nice, clean. Only thing was there wasnt enough towels for me and my husband so i had to get some. We asked about places to eat and they recommended some. We were able to sit out in the parking lot to watch the fireworks which was nice. We plan on stayin here when we go to hannibal again. The picture is the view from our room which was nice.

"Great location"

26/07/2016

My mother, sister and I stayed at the Best Western on the River for just one night while passing through. The rooms were very nice, recently remodeled (I think we were given a room in the new building. I'm not sure what the rooms are like in the original hotel) and the location was really good. We were able to walk to the little downtown area to grab dinner, which was nice after a full day in the car. I would definitely choose this hotel if going back to Hannibal. There are other hotel options in town, but this was a great one if you want to be within walking distance of the river and historic Mark Twain areas.

"3rd floor has great river views"

4
25/07/2016

One block from historic district, easy walk but road is brick. Breaksfast was hot, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy. MIchelle kept everything full. Michelle and the housekeepers are the only sraff in the building. Front desk staff are across the street in another building, so yiu have to call if you need something or search around for a housekeeper. (We had a lamp go out and no coffee left for us, so we did both the search and call). Perfect location for Main Street and just 3 miles or so to Mark Twain cave.

"Great Stay for the Price"

5
24/07/2016

We chose this hotel because it was within walking distance to so many attractions. Our room was in the new building that was built about a year ago. The room was spacious and very clean. A full hot breakfast was included and had many food choices. We swam in the outdoor pool, but there was also an indoor pool. We walked to see museums, historical buildings, a children's musical and ate in several different restaurants.

"Great hotel in the center of the city!"

4
24/07/2016

Loved our room at Best Western for our 2 day exploration of Hannibal in MO! We were just a block from Mark Twain's boyhood home and walked everywhere! A few blocks to shops, restaurants, and the Mississippi. Fantastic beds that were very comfortable, clean beautiful room. I would definitely recommend this as a must stay in Hannibal!

"Nice hotel"

4
23/07/2016

The location was very convenient. The indoor pool was nice. If you are staying in the main building the pool is in the middle so the hallways were humid, but our room was fine. We did use the fridge for drinks we brought, but the vending machines were not outrageous like some. It was clean, modern, and comfortable. Breakfast was good for being free!

"Location, location!"

4
22/07/2016

I typically enjoy luxury hotels, but this was perfect for our sightseeing purposes in Hannibal. You have to cross the highway, and the Mark Twain attractions are all within walking distance. The breakfast buffet was okay; no bananas either morning. My hub made waffles and said they were delicious. I'm not a big fan of buffets and don't like to bother making anything. The young staff at the desk were very friendly and love Hannibal and convey their enthusiasm.

22/07/2016

We've never encountered a hotel, in 15 years, that was more accommodating to our motorcycle group. They encouraged us to park our bikes under the overhang and provided wipe-down rags without us asking. Downtown Hannibal is really cool and this hotel is ideally located.

"Best Location in Town"

11/07/2016

I rented 3 rooms for my family for 2 nights. We loved the location as we could walk to all the attractions in Hannibal that we wanted to see, including the Mississippi River (except the Caves, which are well out of town). We traveled with a senior citizen, 5 adults, and 4 children aged 6 and under. The pool was inside which was a big hit with the kids. The only complaint we have is that our rooms air conditioner quit working and the staff member that helped us told us to wait 15 minutes to see if it came back on. If it didn't, he said to tell the staff member coming to work at that time because he would be leaving. He obviously was passing the buck to the next worker. But after that 15 minutes, my husband was able to get us switched into another room. I would highly recommend staying here. And take the trolley while in town, the guys running it are great!

"Great place to stop"

5
11/07/2016

We always stay here on our way to Indiana. It's half way and the place is really nice. There is a good restaurant across the street. Hannibal is an interesting place and you can take a walking tour at any time.

"Nice"

10/07/2016

The hotel room was really nice and clean! The people who worked there were nice and professional. They were excellent in changing our room so we had a sofa bed for the kids to sleep on and then bringing extra towels, sheets, blankets and pillows. It a very family friendly hotel and with in walking distance to downtown! The only complaint is that we had our thermostat set on 60° and the room was still slightly cool.

"Rescheduled 4th of July weekend"

10/07/2016

And requested a room overlooking the river was a good view of the river Saw barges and trains frequently on the third floor guys did not bother at all two queen beds would have been fine with just one . Breakfast was great on Saturday Sunday breakfast pans I got behind ran out of lots of things before 9 o'clock. Have swimming pool and hot tub inside our building and another building across the street had an outdoor pool. Probably would stay again if in Hannibal .

"great stay"

10/07/2016

I plan to stay here every time we work in this area. great service all around. Clean stay. Polite people. Pool and hot tub area were so much fun and clean. New outdoor pool we didn't have time to use. Breakfast was fun and we enjoyed the elevator having a window side.

"Lovely town"

09/07/2016

We stayed on the 1st floor and it was perfect. The room was large and it was close to the indoor pool as well as parking. The lot attached to the main building is a little cramped but there is an additional lot across the street with plenty of space. Housekeeping was efficient. I would leave the room at random times each day and my room was always clean when I returned. The hotel is located in the center of town and is in walking distance to many of the area attractions.

"They scored the hotel trifecta: comfortable, clean, and convenient"

4
06/07/2016

Positives: central location, comfortable, good breakfast Negatives: cramped parking, a bit pricey Rarely do we choose a higher-cost option when traveling, but Best Western On the River was an exception. It's downtown location convinced us to spend a bit more to make the most of our short time in Hannibal. Although the hotel is named "On the River" the shoreline is about three blocks away. However, you can see the mighty Mississippi from the property. This is a great place if you're interested in touring local historic sites. Samuel Clemen's boyhood neighborhood, downtown shopping, the riverboat ride and more are within easy walking distance. Distant attractions like Lover's Leap can be quickly reached on local streets. We arrived about 11 p.m., along with several other customers. Check-in went smoothly despite the late hour and high demand. This hotel operates two buildings: the original structure close to the highway and a newer facility across the street that sits further back on a hill. We were assigned a room in the newer building. On-site parking was tight around both buildings. The lot adjacent to the older building was completely full. Only two spaces were left in the lot in front of our building. Many customers parked on the street. Due to overbooking, we were upgraded to a room with two king beds (instead of the single bed we requested.) The room was huge...far more than two of us needed. It was nice to have so much space for all our equipment! Inside and out, the entire facility was very clean and in good condition. One of the beds looked like it had been used more than the other. We chose the "better" of the two and slept very well. We appreciated the fact breakfast was served in our building...it would have been clumsy to walk across the street just to eat. The breakfast nook is small but management smartly placed dining tables in the lobby to accommodate more customers. They served eggs, sausage, make-your-own waffles, a few kinds of cereal, a bit of fruit, and beverages. The "kitchen manager" (my term) was good enough to replenish both eggs and sausage fifteen minutes before service was scheduled to close. A surge of diners had exhausted the supply, leaving nothing for latecomers. Bravo for that manager. Some hotels wouldn't have prepared extra for anyone. I found it interesting they removed food in warming trays immediately at the scheduled closing time. What did they do with all the leftovers? (Feed the staff?) Our only problem came when I requested a receipt at checkout. The desk employee said our third-party aggregator would provide one. The problem was, I booked on Best Western's web site, not through another vendor. Some time was required to straighten out the situation. I eventually received a correct statement. The Bottom Line - Downtown Hannibal doesn't offer many lodging options. For that matter, few options are available in the entire town. Fortunately, Best Western On the River is one of them. This hotel costs a bit more than more properties on the main highway, but for sightseers like us, time saved by staying here is more than worth the extra price.

"BIRTHDAY GETAWAY!"

5
06/07/2016

Everything was great and we will be back as soon as we get a few days to enjoy and get away from work. Hannibal is a favorite place we go and we always go to Labinnah for dinner as the food is great and they actually know us, as we go there often. We do not go to breakfast as we are late sleepers but have in the past gone to breakfast and it was always good. See you next time!! Chris and Kirk Wall

"Fun place to stay"

4
03/07/2016

Very nicely laid out hotel, decently distanced from the highway, & close to the river. The room was comfortable & clean, & the service was great! Loved the public hot tub & pool, with a skylight above that brightens up the hotel. Has the feel of a more expensive hotel while keeping reasonable prices. Also, lets not forget that they provide you a nicely wrapped, "fresh" remote!!

"Tom Sawyer Days visit"

5
03/07/2016

We were very happy with the room! The new outdoor pool just opened, this wasn't mentioned anywhere but it was a great surprise. To be within walking distance of downtown was wonderful. Room was clean (except the piece of beef jerky that we found in the ac unit) and very spacious. Staff was friendly and we felt that the property was safe.

"Good location"

02/07/2016

In a great location to downtown. Was close enough to walk back up when we purchased items. Was very clean and comfortable. The bed was awesome. Got a great night sleep .Wish we would have stayed more than 1 night.

"What a nice place!"

5
01/07/2016

Wonderful, comfortable new room with great king double beds, roomy and clean bathroom, and a wonderful staff with fantastic attitudes by all. Truly a gem and we will be back. What nice people who really made this a nice stay! Thanks to Jeff and the rest of the staff who radiated hospitality and kindness!

"i will return"

5
01/07/2016

I will return on our next trip. kudos to staff and Best Western. very helpful, considerate, and made our stay enjoyable. there was a pool right outside our room but we did not hear the noise from the pool or the humidity created by the pool inside the room

"Great stay and staff!"

5
28/06/2016

We were pulling a trailer behind our motorcycle which made parking tricky. The staff, without hesitation, suggested we park under the awning in the front. It was great because it also kept it dry that night when it rained. We also loved the view of the river from our room and the convenience to all the historic sites.

"Nice rooms, great location "

4
25/06/2016

Overall, pretty good. Others have complained about the train noise, but we liked it. Good beds, pretty bathroom. We stayed at the new building and it was nice. Plus it's where the breakfast is. The pool is in the other building and it's pretty warm, but overall this was a nice hotel and we enjoyed it. It would be nice if they had either an attendant or a change machine in the new building because vending machines are there but there's no way to make change.

"River Paradise"

21/06/2016

this place is worth the money, friendly staff, very clean, great view, and alot of stores surrounding the place, air condition was very cool, and breakfast was good, i highly suggest this hotel. the pool was clean and the room was very clean, enough parking.

"Gave this 5 STARS but TripAdvisor won't let me"

20/06/2016

The Best Western on the River (not exactly ON the river, btw, but near it) just built a new hotel on the lot next door and we stayed there. This was a top-rate room. Our family of five (two parents, three kids 5, 12, & 14) loved our lodging! The service was superb, friendly, and fast as well. At about 9:30 pm we realized we needed an extra blanket & sheets to set up the youngest on the love seat and it was delivered within minutes. And next morning complimentary breakfast was very good, served by a cheerful young lady. They had hot scrambled eggs, potatoes, & sausage; waffles; yogurt; fresh fruit; dry cereal; milk and juice; toast; fresh fruit; etc. The coffee was decent. They had plenty of food up until the end. We had to walk across to the main hotel to swim, and I was glad we were in a different building because the indoor pool there made it very humid inside and all those rooms opened up into that central atrium to overlook the pool. So we got to swim, then leave, returning to a crisp, cool, new hotel in the nicer, new annex! It was a very hot day, so the walk back was pleasant and no trouble. The beds were excellent, and I loved all the big, fluffy pillows that smelled vaguely sweet. The bathrooms were clean, towels white & fresh, a sparkly shower, plenty of complimentary toiletries, enough Kleenex and tissues... everything was pristine. The carpets were very new, the bedding was bleach-white and soft. Each bed had 5 pillows. The TV was a newer, flat screen. We put our leftovers from dinner in the small fridge, and there was also a microwave. We were also able to fill our small cooler with ice. My only complaint was you could hear lots of annoying thumping through the floor above. We were on the ground floor. It sounded like they had a toddler barn stomp going full force up there until at least midnight and I decided to turn the A/C down low so the fan would stay on to try and drown out the incessant thumping noises. You could also hear doors slamming in the hallway. I was so grateful that the bumping eventually did stop and I was able to fall asleep. Of course by then everyone else in our room had fallen asleep in spite of it, and then I had snoring to contend with, but I eventually did get some shut-eye that night. The cozy bed made up for the inconvenience. In any event, consider bringing ear plugs or a small fan just in case. Other than that, the room was excellent and the service outstanding. TripAdvisor won't let me give 5 stars ratings for great service, etc., anywhere for some reason, so I only rated the sleep quality, giving it a four. Everything else was a five.

"Accommodating for motorcycle riders!"

4
20/06/2016

Ok, so there isn't a plethora from which to choose when it comes to hotels here. The BW?... they were great. The locale is in the middle of town, the rooms were clean, service was great and they welcome us Harley riders! ??. There is an indoor pool. We didn't use... The smell didn't bother me and, more importantly, I didn't HEAR all of that pool fun in my room.

"Close to points of interest"

4
19/06/2016

Nice hotel, clean, comfy. When I went it was Mark Twain days and was in walking distance of food, tourist traps. I was in the new building that doesn't have a pool. Which I was ok with it just a layover trip. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. Will still again if ever the need arises.

"Close to attractions."

5
18/06/2016

No bed bugs. Clean. Convenient. Parking can be a little tight. We had to park in the extra lot , which was not far but not extremely easy for seniors coming back after sightseeing. Overall a pleasant experience.

"Great Location"

5
18/06/2016

We found this hotel to be as close to everything as you can get. Huck Finn's house is right across the street. Everything is within a short walk. The room was clean and comfortable. Restaurants are very close but are needed only for lunch or dinner. The included breakfast in the hotel gives you all that you could ask for. The person in charge of the breakfast took pride in his job. Very helpful and constantly making sure that the food was stocked and the area was clean and neat. Would stay here again for sure.

"Enjoyable Stay"

5
16/06/2016

We had booked a King room and were pleasantly surprised to have a complimentary upgrade to a double King riverview room in the new building. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and the staff pleasant. We enjoyed watching the activity on the river, as well as the trains going by. The only downfall was the breakfast area, which was small and congested. The coffee/tea area was back in a corner by the food. It would be better to have it in a separate area, more easily accessible. Overall a very nice BW.

"Nice recent refurb"

3
15/06/2016

We are locals staying here for an extended period while our home is remodeled. It's the nicest hotel within walking distance of the Historic district without a doubt. The recent renovations are very nice and we found the room size and furnishings on par with 4&5 star hotels. The main building houses the pool inside so you can't get away from the chlorine smell nor the noise of pool users. If this is a problem for you, they have a newly built building across the street. Parking is an issue, disabled spots are few and quickly occupied. Great birds eye view of historic downtown and the river - even Lovers Leap. Pet's are not welcome but of course Service Animals are. Totally non-smoking hotel. Breakfast is a plus. Not your standard donut/cereal/waffle continental. They provide those as well as scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage patties, bacon as well as biscuits and gravy.

"excellent location, good view of river"

5
14/06/2016

Stayed in building adjacent to building with front desk and pool. Enjoyed it very much. Room was excellent and had nice view of the river. Building was very quiet which we liked. Walking distance to city attractions and restaurants.

"Happy in Hannibal"

14/06/2016

Especially like staying near many activities. This hotel is within walking distance to the quaint downtown. Just a short drive to cave tours. We were here for a family wedding. The community area near the lobby helped us to gather away from our rooms to make our daily plans.

"Great getaway..."

13/06/2016

First off this hotel is hard to find! Once you enter, the pool smell is a little much, but after in lobby checking in for a few minutes you don't notice any longer. The gentleman checking us in was extremely nice, our room was not ready yet (we arrived early) so he gave us a room ready in the new building. The room was perfect, large, 2 king beds that where comfortable, great ac, etc. The breakfast was ready, hot, an great the next morning. I read some complaints about train noise, I was listening for it in the morning I was already awake only real reason I heard it, it didn't wake anyone else in room. Would definitely stay again!

"Nice place for overnight stay"

12/06/2016

We made a weekend trip to Hannibal to check out the town and stayed at the Best Western. We arrived early and were able to check in right away. Our room was clean and comfortable and well-appointed with large tv and frig. Our only complaint was the noise from the room above us and the train rolling through town in the early morning hours, both of which are out of the control of the hotel. The breakfast was in large dining area and there was a wide selection of items to choose from. The breakfast attendant kept everything clean and well stocked, I would have liked more fruit options though. Overall I felt the Best Western was a good value

"Comfy beds, tv, and air-conditioning "

5
11/06/2016

It was very hot and humid so the air con felt great. My dad has a bad back and the beds were soft enough to lessen his pain. We got a room in the new building wich is very nice and our room overlooked the Mississippi River Overall was a great experience.

"Great place to stay!"

10/06/2016

My husband and I wanted to be near downtown so we could walk around after a long day of driving. Great location, very clean, front desk staff very helpful especially when our room keys didn't work - fixed immediately! The bed was comfortable and the room was very nice. Our room was poolside (indoor pool) and at first we were concerned about all the kids and the noise, but right at 10pm the pool was cleared and everything was quiet. The pool was covered and not re-opened until the next morning. Very impressed and would definitely stay here again!

"Great hotel!"

5
09/06/2016

Great hotel, great location and value for the money! We had an issue with the cooling of our room and the refrigerator-but the issue was fixed right away and we were given a different room. The staff was fantastic! Hot breakfast in the morning was very good as well. Pool area is very nice, but is situated in the middle of the hotel, so it closes at 9 pm so our kids couldn't swim since we arrived late. Parking is a bit tight there as well-we had to park away from our building, but it was fine. I would highly recommend this hotel for families and I will stay here again!

"Excellent Hotel, Excellent Service, Excellent Location"

09/06/2016

My fiancee and I stayed here for 3 nights, Friday, June 3, 2016 - Monday, June 6th. We were very pleased with the high quality of the very spacious room, comfortable bed, large bathroom, etc. We stayed on the 3rd floor of the newer building and had an awesome river view. The complimentary hot breakfast was exceptionally good and was in both buildings over the weekend. Also, as others have said, this hotel is right in the historic downtown area in walking distance to everything. I was blown away by the EXCEPTIONAL Customer Service! We called the front desk about problems with our TV, and Austin volunteered to come directly to our room to diagnose it. He walked over from the main building in like 2 minutes, found out the issue was dead batteries in the remote, and immediately went back for new batteries. All on a busy Friday night, Austin made our satisfaction a priority. And every employee we saw throughout our stay was cheerful and friendly. I had way better customer service here than I have had in other, more expensive hotels. Highly Recommended!

"In the thick of things"

08/06/2016

I was able to stay in the new wing of the Best Western on the River in Hannibal. It is brand new and very nice. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are very well appointed. There is a TV, a microwave and a samll fridge in each room. The only downside is the short walk to the main hotel where breakfast is served (and the pool is there too.) Breakfast was very good but the breakfast room is pretty small. All of the overflow goes to the main lobby. It is only a block to the Becky Thatcher House and the white wash fence exhibit and Tom Sawyer museum. A great location.

"Quaint & Clean"

4
05/06/2016

This hotel worked nicely. The parking is on a slant on the side, but I could deal with it. There are two sections to this place, supposedly I was in the older section. The only thing it could use - would be a good sundeck. If you don't want to hear kids screaming in the pool, request a room away from this area - they will accommodate you. Room was quaint and clean.

"Love it"

4
05/06/2016

This place is excellent, I just stay for one night and I love it !! I had a king bed no view!! The room is really clean, the sizes are just right. There have an inside pool can be a little annoyed because you can hear a little bit the kids playing. Breakfast is complete with all the essentials. Also, having someone checking every 5 min if is needed something.

Hotel and staff were great! The hotel itself and the rooms were very clean and well maintained. Staff were helpful on directions and suggestions of what to see and where to grab a bite to eat. We will definitely be back and this place is centrally located to all attractions, the river and lots of restaurants.

"VERY nice hotel in a perfect location."

24/05/2016

Best Western on The River is just that. It is located only 2-3 blocks from the Mississippi river. In fact, my room had a view of the river. The hotel is actually 2 buildings. I stayed in what I think of as the annex, which is approximately 100 feet from the main building. The annex has a small breakfast dining room and vending machines. The main building has the front desk, pool, hot tub, etc. My room was very nice and well appointed for the price and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I will tell you that a train rolled through at around 5:30 or 6:00AM and blew it's whistle. I was up anyway, but this might bother people wanting to sleep in.The only reason that I didn't rate the hotel higher is that the breakfast was still being prepared at 6;15AM when it was supposed to be ready at 6:00. Sorry, but I believe in promptness.

"Enjoyable Trip"

24/05/2016

My husband and I and four boys stayed here for the night while visiting friends in the area. Very good experience overall. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast items were plentiful. We stayed in the original building and did not get to see the annex. We were told they are in the process of installing an outdoor pool in addition to the indoor! That is a plus for us for future stays!!

"The BEST hotel in Hannibal"

5
22/05/2016

When we checked in Austin and Issac were at the front desk to check us in and they were awesome and knowledgeable about the town. And at night Jeff was there to help answer any questions and was very pleasant to talk to and was very helpful on what way to take on the way home to Desoto Mo. He suggested that we take Hwy 79 to St.Charles then hwy 364 to hwy 141 and so on which we did and it was a beautiful scenic highway that followed the Mississippi river which has many scenic overlook parks to stop at. We had 2 queen beds on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool and out our window you could see the Tom and Huck park and the river. There is an indoor pool and hot tub which was very warm and very clean. They offer free HOT breakfast in the breakfast room from 6-10am very good and very fresh. The hotel is very clean, updated, and very kid friendly. The kids and I love the pool and hot tub. The location is perfect you can walk to every Mark Twain attractions in town and the lil shops ,the riverfront, and the Lighthouse. Its close to restaurants and the visitors center is across the street. We left the car parked the whole time we were there and walked everywhere. Most of the attraction and shops closed around 5pm so we would head back to the hotel with dinner and the one night the Hannibal Kiwanis had bbq on the riverfront and we got pulled pork with 2 side and pork chop sandwich with 2 sides and drinks and took it back to the hotel and then headed to the pool until 9pm when it closed. I would recommend this hotel to everyone coming to Hannibal. Its the BEST one in town !!! Oh and they do have an elevator too !!! From a very satisfied mom traveling with 3 kids ages 5,8,11 from Desoto Mo.

"Pretty much the only game in town"

17/05/2016

We almost always stay at Best Western hotels because we always know what to expect. This particular hotel was no exception although it did have a one unusual ( to me) amenity. The pool and hot tub were inside the hotel pretty much in the lobby, NOT in a different enclosed area. All the rooms at this hotel are accessed from the interior which is not unusual where they have extremely hot or cold weather. Having an indoor pool so close to the guest rooms might present a noise problem in the busy season but it was very quiet while we were there. The only noise problems we had were from the STAFF talking outside our room very early in the morning. The window had very good room darkening drapes so the lighting in the public areas did not effect us at all. Our king size bed was very clean and comfortable but the pillows were small and made out of cheap, lumpy foam. The morning breakfast was very good. A nice selection of hot and cold food , including make your own waffles. Our main complaint was that there was only ONE washer and dryer available for the entire hotel. Needless to say we didn't get any laundry done here as we had hoped. FYI, the only open restaurant while we were there was the Mark Twain diner that is directly across the street from the hotel. There are a couple of other real dumpy looking hotels in town so like the title of this review says, this hotel is pretty much the only game in town....luckily, it is not bad.

14/05/2016

Very pleased with price, accommodation, staff - all very good. We did not expect the hotel to be as attractive or conveniently located. It was within walking distance of all the attractions we were interested in, in Hannibal.

"Great location for Mark Twain sights!"

4
12/05/2016

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting the cute town of Hannibal, Missouri. This hotel is perfectly located for seeing the town and walking to restaurants. Our room was nicely updated. However, you should know that this is an older hotel with a pool inside surrounded by the rooms. The first thing we noticed on walking in was the smell of chlorine from the pool. The other thing was the awful mildew smell in the elevator. Other than these 2 things, we had an enjoyable stay and the breakfast was good.

"Great stay & close to downtown!"

5
10/05/2016

We stayed here over Mother's Day Weekend. We attended the car show. Hotel is close to downtown & shops. Plenty of places to eat within walking distances. Staff was very friendly & helpful. Rooms were clean with comfy bed. Breakfast was excellent! Lots to choose from to eat and server kept the foods hot & full. We would recommend!

"Comfortable and Convenient"

5
08/05/2016

A very nice hotel within easy walking distance of historic Hannibal. Our room was on the third floor with views of Hannibal, the Mississippi River and the lighthouse style structure on the hill located at the south end of Main Street. The hotel had adequate (just barely) parking, a nice indoor pool, a relaxing lobby and a good free breakfast. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. We did not notice the train noise some other reviewers mentioned. Our room was always cleaned in the morning. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. I will stay here again if I return to Hannibal.

"Nice, friendly, clean"

06/05/2016

This motel was very friendly, had just freshly upgraded the soft features of the rooms, and was very clean. Beds were comfy, and super convenient to the historic district of Hannibal. Mark Twain would be proud. The place has an indoor swimming pool which is great for families year round, too.

"Good Overnight Stop"

4
29/04/2016

We frequently travel the "Avenue of the Saints", as our son lives in St. Paul and we live south of St. Louis - an 11 hour trip. This is one of our favorite overnight stops as it is conveniently located to both the highway and many good shops and restaurants. The hotel staff is friendly and knowledgeable about Hannibal. We especially enjoy the Mark Twain historic sites, some of which are just a block away, as well as the variety of food available within walking distance.

"Great location in an interesting town"

4
28/04/2016

Located in the heart of Hannibal this motel offered a comfortable and convenient stay for my wife and I. We were within walking distance of many Hannibal tourist sites and only a short very easy drive to Mark Twain caves. The included breakfast was standard fare for hotels, nonetheless a very convenient addition.

"Great location"

5
26/04/2016

Great Location for a walk-about historic Hannibal and views of the Mississippi from the lighthouse. Rooms were clean, service was polite and responsive and bed was comfortable. Not a 5 star but location more than compensates The Only negative was virtually non-existing internet, especially if you are in an end unit. You'll need to go to the lobby to make your cyber connections.

"GOOD"

5
20/04/2016

Good clean well run hotel. Ask for a back room so you don't get a room on the Beltline. Secure and courteous service. Quick check in and out. A little noisy if a baseball kids league is in town. Close to the Mall and good restaurants. The Beltline leads to everywhere but it is best to take side streets. The Beltline is in constant construction.

Nice place right in downtown Hannibal. Convenient to everything. only downside if staying on the river side, trains occasionally run through down. The whistles can be disturbing at night - ask for room opposite the river!

Met 4 high school friends here for a weekend get away. We had a great stay. The room was very clean, with a nice view of the river. The hotel employees were very helpful, helping us find places to eat, etc. It was very quiet rooms, very comfortable beds. When we checked out, it was raining, so after checking out, we still sat in the comfortable lounge until 1 pm, and they were OK with that. Beautiful pool and hot tub also.

"Good place to stay"

The hotel is a comfortable place to stay in Hannibal. It is conveniently located near most of the Mark Twain sights and shopping. The hotel is well maintained and has the comforts most people look for in a place to stay.

"Convenient location for Mark Twain history"

04/04/2016

Very clean, and a short, easy walk to the Mississippi River, and Tom Sawyer museum. In historical district. Staff was friendly, breakfast hot and fresh. No complaints for this hotel. Recommend it and would stay here again.

"Nice laid back trip"

01/04/2016

We were in Hannibal to visit family and stayed at the Best Western on the River. This was our second stay here, and it was really nice. Staff is friendly, the rooms are nice, though the pillows kind of stink-we brought our own this time. Breakfast is plentiful, if a bit bland, but I'm not much of a breakfast person anyway. The location is great for shopping and dining, yet far enough away from the bars downtown that getting a good night's sleep isn't a problem.

"Great experience"

30/03/2016

The staff gave us great recommendations where to eat & what to see in Hannibal. This was very much appreciated. They were very friendly. The hotel was across the street from the main Mark Twain historic places to see. This was very convenient.

"Nice hotel, cute town"

25/03/2016

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was very nice, well appointed and clean. The bed was very comfy. We looked around town a bit and it seemed like it would be fun but March was not the best month. I bet it is great in the summer.

Nice lobby area with huge sitting room, large circular modern tables, leather couches, tv. Breakfast room off this was also nice, tables spaced nicely so you didn't feel crowded. They opened up another room off breakfast room for overflow which looked spacious as well. Pool was right by lobby area and looked nice too. It is a smaller area with no walls separating it with any privacy from all other main floor areas. It was enclosed by a kind of half wall. It also had a hot tub. We didn't use it as we arrived 8:30 and the pool area closed at 9. Thankful for early closing as our room was very close to pool area. Our room 106 was just down from reception and was nice sized. I was glad I spent $10 more for a king bed. Total bill with tax $113. Room had slight wear and tear. Wallpaper in spots was frayed, scratched. Tub bottom had a liner in it that kind of moved as you stepped around. Bed linens fresh, bed comfy, room overall quite clean. Breakfast ok, biscuits, gravy, standard scrambled eggs, sausage, cereals, yogurt, breads, waffle maker. Did not see butter or cream cheese tho.., I imagine rates, come summer, will be more. It has a nice location by the river and the downtown sites. Very walkable. I would recommend and would stay again if back in the area.

"Adequate"

24/03/2016

Comfortable room. Hot tub jets not working properly - it was more like a warm bath. Bed gave me a back ache. Quality of breakfast was poor. Overall it was fine, but at the price, expected a little more.

"Great location; mini vacation"

22/03/2016

This was an overall good experience. The room was clean and comfy, the comp breakfast in the morning has a great time frame, and lots of choices. Great location if you are in town to visit historic downtown Hannibal. Staff was helpful, and kind. Price was within budget too. All around nice experience.

"Clean and quaint"

5
21/03/2016

Hotel overall was very clean. It is located within a 3 minute walk of Mark Twains house and 5 minutes walk from downtown historic Hannibal. River views too! Very comfortable beds. The pool was great too. Breakfast was good! Staff was SUPER nice! Very reasonable! Great deal between room, location staff pool and breakfast.

"Bowlers Weekend"

5
21/03/2016

When we go to Hannibal for our annual bowling trip, each year for the past 6 years. This is our hotel of choice and I do the choosing. We have always had a very good experience, and me really nice new hotel guests on each and every trip. We be back same time next year. Thanks to the Staff at the Best Western on the River, Hannibal, Missouri.

"Mediocre"

3
20/03/2016

Nice location near historic downtown and with good view of the river. Room was laid out so that the closet stuck out in the hall - made it difficult to get to the bathroom. Bathroom was very small. Nice pool. Hot tub looked great but jets were not very strong and water was just warm. Breakfast was adequate but most items were stale or did not taste good. No fresh fruit. Staff was unengaged. Had to park my car in an alley - did not feel safe.

"Great value"

4
19/03/2016

We stayed here for 2 nights. Had the most important necessities: Microwave and refrigerator. No need to pack a hair dryer either. The only minor things I didn't care for was the small bathroom and the pool is right up front where you check in. It is by far better than the current Best Western we are staying at in St.Louis. If we ever come back to Hannibal I would definitely book this hotel again.

"HANNIBAL, MO BEST WESTERN"

19/03/2016

Love this Hotel! Friendly staff, great location, clean rooms. We stay at the Best Western in Hannibal when ever we visit Hannibal. It is so nice to park and walk downtown to the Historic District! We have stayed at the Best Western in Hannibal at least 3 times per year for the past 5 years and have had a wonderful experience each time.

"Very nice place"

4
18/03/2016

This is a reasonably priced hotel with a friendly staff and nice rooms. My only complaint, and this is not the fault of the staff, is that the pool is in the middle of the lobby on the 1st floor, and that makes the whole hotel loud while the pool is in use. It closes at 9pm, but if one is an early sleeper, or tries to take a nap, or is just annoyed by noise, this might not be the best place to choose. I have little kids who wanted to swim, so it didn't bother me, but I might not choose this location if I was traveling alone.

"Probably the best intown"

4
15/03/2016

The personnel and the cleanliness of this motel make it a good place to visit historic Hannibal. I had difficulty finding it because itwas not near the highway I used to enter town. Don't get to town after 9:00 pm. -- no decent place to eat!

"Almost on the river!"

5
14/03/2016

Very nice. It isn't exactly on the river but you can see the river from the hotel. It's within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Hannibal is a fun town to visit and this is a great place to stay.

"Great Hotel; Wonderful Staff"

5
14/03/2016

The front desk staff is very friendly and always super helpful. The hotel is very nice; great pool; comfortable rooms; very clean; great location for enjoying downtown Hannibal. I would highly recommend this hotel for travel to Hannibal, MO!

"Beautiful location "

5
13/03/2016

Excellent accommodations. Large pool with hot tub. Full breakfast. Walking distance to the Mississippi and small town down town. Mark Twain's home, museum, steamboat and light house close by. There was a couple weddings and proms here, but we didn't hear any of it.

"Great hotel!"

5
10/03/2016

A great combination of rate, comfort and amenities! Good location, right downtown near the river and the quaint shops and restaurants. Loved the pool area and the selection of quality breakfast items.

"Difficult to find - Verizon has no connection in the area"

5
09/03/2016

Beautiful and quiet hotel but very hard to find. About 2 blocks from the Mississippi with a busy train tracks between the river and hotel. Pool is in the center atrium with rooms surrounding it. Excellent beds and shower head. Not the direct view of the river I had hoped. Very nice breakfast.

08/03/2016

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and always are very satisfied. However, painting the doors in the room left a smell. When we told the staff we got an over the shoulder--Oh, yah, we just painted the doors. Not the kind of staff we are used to at this hotel. However, we really like this hotel and will give it at least one more chance.

"great hotel layout - great customer service"

5
05/03/2016

nice layout; entering from inside (safety), friendly professional staff, nice clean rooms, hot water, quiet, and surprisingly reasonable cost. Here by myself, but could see this being a wonderful place for a family with children.

"Adequate for the night"

04/03/2016

This property is an older one but is well maintained and was very clean. The location is great for visiting the Mississippi River and the old town of Hannibal. Everything needed is in easy walking distance. Parking is somewhat limited around the hotel

"The Best Hotel in Hannibal is the Best Western"

5
29/02/2016

Easily the best hotel in the area. It provides easy walking access to all of the downtown district. The shopping is quaint for this Midwest hometown. There are excellent restaurants in the area. The main building has a pool and a hot tub. The water is clear and refreshing. The Mississippi River is a short walk away to the river boats and marina. The hotel has exceptional views of the river and the island.

"Exploring Hannibal"

4
10/02/2016

Having always been a fan of Mark Twain's "Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and other writings, my wife & I decided to see all that Hannibal had to offer. Our base of operations was the Best Western on the River, and we were happy with our decision. A basic breakfast was adequate, but we especially enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub. Very nice! Utilized the exercise room and thought our room was just great. Plus, the hotel was close to nearly everything.

"Great location"

5
08/02/2016

Very nice hotel within a block or two of the Historic River District. Great restaurants. Near Mark Twain Brewery. Nice rooms and fun hotel. Can't wait to come back in the summer and explore more. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Location was the best thing here"

3
08/02/2016

To talk about the positives first...the location was excellent to the sights we wanted to see in Hannibal. The parking was included, but is a little cramped. Breakfast is also included. The negative...I am not sure why hotels do not find the need or want to clean a room more than just so so....to put it as mildly as possible to not disturb the reader...why must there be "foreign" body hairs in the bathroom?!

"Unexpected great find"

5
31/01/2016

First review, ever. This was on the way home from a business trip and we had been following the River Road south from Iowa. Very cool hotel, retro atrium type architecture, view of the river from our room, wonderful location, very much above average breakfast buffet, and a great little diner right across the street. The place was clean, well maintained, and the staff friendly and helpful. Even the train whistles from down the street didn't bother us, they just seemed to fit the ambiance of the area.

"The Best Hotel in Hannibal is the Best Western"

5
27/01/2016

When you get there, you should ask for a room in the new building. The hotel is so convenient to downtown, there is no driving required. Chris, Carl, Tres, and Romaine are the nicest staff anyone could ask for.

"Great Hotel"

5
25/01/2016

The hotel was great, the rooms were very large, we had a single bed room and a two bed room, in each room there was plenty of room to move around in and have room for all of our bags. We really enjoyed the staff there, the manager was always filled with information about the attractions that were around the area and she was always in a good mood and ready to help with any of our needs. This is probably the only hotel i will ever stay at when returning to Hannibal again.

"Great Hotel"

Very clean - great staff - perfect location - Close to great restaurants and shops. Staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to make stay very enjoyable. Clean rooms and great amenities. Definitely recommend for trips to Hannibal, MO

"Latch on door doesn't work... they don't care"

1
12/01/2016

First of all, the new property looks nice, rooms look nice, bed is comfortable. Negative review was because the door latch did not work. It turns out that the building is settling and the floor are uneven (can't tell, even if I looked). The door to the room would not latch. Host told me to shut it hard and it would latch. It didn't latch. Had to lift up (hard) on the handle to latch. Returned to hotel next night... door was open. Room service didn't read the notes in room. Tool kit was stolen. Will not return.

Very nice hotel for a stop off Staff pleasant. We had the 2 king bed room. Huge. Nice and clean. Great shower. The only fault I would say was there breakfast. Quite sparse. Had to ask for butter, creamers were few,no bananas or sweet rolls Overall good for passing through

"Excellent apart from 2 things"

5
05/01/2016

We stayed in the new section where the checkin area you in The rooms are really wonderful. Everything you need and very clean and new There are two things that let this hotel down The WiFi sucks. It comes in and out and the signal is very weak. The hotel can definitely fix this problem The other problem and cannot be fixed by the hotel and is NOT their problem is the train noise From 6.15am the trains start going by and they blow their whistles a lot. Wakes every body up Anyhow. Apart from this. This is the place to stay. Right in the thick of everything Mark Twain

"Very nice. "

5
13/12/2015

My husband and I stayed in the hotel last night. It was a very nice, very clean hotel. Everything seemed to be brand new. The bed was comfortable with nice bedding. It had a microwave and refrigerator in the room. Everything you needed!! It was within perfect walking distance from the Historic Downtown District. The complimentary breakfast was very good!

"Nice place, but overpriced."

3
06/12/2015

We stayed here on Thanksgiving, so the place was available and pretty empty. The room was new, and a mirror image of the Best Western room we had stayed in the night before in Canton, Mississippi - clean and nicely done. However, the room was $30 more per night.

"History!!"

4
25/11/2015

This hotel was great, it was super clean the rooms were super trendy, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely put the word out to anyone in this area that you need to stay here at least one night. Hannibal was very quaint and the hotel is close to tons of stuff to do! Also I got to learn a lot about Mark Twain! Double win!!

"Great Experience"

5
22/11/2015

The customer service was excellent. The staff wet above and beyond to make sure all of our needs were met. The breakfast was hot, room was clean, and the hospitality was fantastic. The property was well lit and secure.

"Hannibal, MO"

5
21/11/2015

Best Western was a convenient and clean hotel. Across the street from Mark Twain Museum and a couple of blocks to the Mark Twain Brewery. Pool, Hot Tub and large communal area gave different feel from the normal hotel with rooms down long hallways. I would suggest staying on upper floors facing the Mississippi River. Light house and homes nestled up in the cliffs was eye pleasing. Courteous staff is what I found both times I stayed. The Mark Twain micro brewery had a great selection of beers and the bbq was great, especially the chicken wings which are smoked and then fried. Probably not heart-healthy but nontheless delicious.

"Quality place"

5
19/11/2015

Great pool and hot tub, open area for group meetings, good breakfast, comfortable modern rooms, very clean. Easy access from the freeway, good parking. Priced online for $10 less than at the desk. Luggage racks helpful, easy elevator access.

"Nice place "

13/11/2015

We stayed here for 1 night while traveling. The hotel was very nice. Everything was clean but the room had a musty old smoke smell. Popped open an air freshers to help. Pool and hot tub area very nice. Parking is tight but available. Breakfast was average. Would stay again.

"Stopover in Hannibal"

5
11/11/2015

We stayed at the Best Western on the River in Hannibal, Missouri on a recent trip down to Louisiana. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was hot and tasted good. The parking is a little limited, but space is at a premium at this location. If you get a river view room, get the ear plugs at the front desk, you can hear the trains going by!

"nice hotel"

5
09/11/2015

Very good location. Rooms were nice. Great value, close to the historic district easy to walk to, Parking was easy, Staff were nice and helpful. Breakfast was fine. nice choice of food. We were next to the pool and the room was still very quiet.

"Large, clean room for a good price"

4
02/11/2015

I'm on a business trip traveling in northeast Missouri. I need to spend the night, so I looked at reviews on Trip Advisor. I'm glad I checked in here. I got a good price, plus an AAA discount. My room is larger than I expected, with a sofa and coffee table in front of the TV. I'm on the third floor, but because Hannibal is on a bluff of the Mississippi River, my car is parked on a bluff behind the third floor. So my car is parked on the same level as my room! I'm glad I'm spending the night here. I'll come back here sometime, when I can be a tourist in Hannibal. This hotel is in the middle of the historic district.

"Best Western Hannibal"

5
02/11/2015

This is a clean, comfortable, and convenient hotel located near the water in the downtown area of Hannibal. They now have two buildings which gives them plenty of rooms. I have stayed there multiple times and would not consider another hotel. The staff is helpful and friendly. There is also an indoor pool.

"love trains?"

29/10/2015

Nice new building so the room was beautiful but forgot the soundproofing during construction. Train horns blew throughout the night making sleep impossible. Pool was in another building across the street so not desirable to use on a cold evening.

23/10/2015

Located in downtown Hannible, this hotel is close to shops and events that partake in the area. Upon arrival, you drive up to their front door for easy loading/unloading of your baggage. After walking through two electronic sliding doors, baggage carts are easily accessible just inside the main lobby. The people working the front desk are friendly and courteous. My room was reserved in advance, so checking in took just a couple of minutes and is easier than most other hotels. They had everything ready. The lobby occupies most of the first floor. I didn't notice any particular scent in there which is a good thing in my opinion. I've found some scents in hotels to be offending. It's nice they chose to remain neutral or use a mild scent that wasn't too potent for me to handle. There are plush and comfortable leather couches and single seat coushined chairs throughout. The environment is quiet and nice for lounging around tor read a nice book or the newspaper. There's an indoor pool with a stairway entry as well as a hoist entry for the disabled. The water is clear and the entire pool area is clean. They really thought this thing through when designing it. The pool was tempting but time didn't allow for me to take a dip in it. The rooms are split between three floors. The elevator is located in the middle of the lobby making it a centrally accessible to all rooms. The room we had was large and comfortable. Inside were two queen sized beds, a refrigerator, microwave oven, flat screen TV, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, coffee, cups and plenty of towels. The beds have plenty of pillows for those who like to surround themselves with them at night. On a follow-up trip a couple of months later, they expanded to a building across the street. This time, my wife and I reserved a room with two king sized beds. They were extremely comfortable and spacious providing an amazing place to rest. There was a breakfast buffet downstairs with scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits, sausage gravy, instant oatmeal, coffee, milk, orange juice, and a waffle station. There were also some pasteries available. There is free, fast WiFi Internet access available only to the guests. A username/password was given to us along with the card keys we used to enter our room. Logging in granted 24 hours worth of access before having to login again. Using it took no effort. I have to thank the Dyer family (Grace, Romaine, and Sam) along with their amazing staff for making my stay here peaceful and wonderful. Any time I'm in the area, I'll be staying the night here.

"Awful hotel staff"

1
23/10/2015

I travel a lot for business and I know coming in late can be hard on the staff but its your job. The night we came in with my two daughters the staff made us feel like we were an inconvenience!!! The female was snotty, swore in front of my 4 and 6 year old while she was talking to her coworker. I asked her where we could park and her answer was anywhere you feel. So I asked anywhere around the building and her reply was "this is a historical district and we can't tear any of these buildings down" with about the most sarcastic voice you would ever hear. We finally try to get in our room and key did not work so we went back down to get another and she was talking to her friend and she just rolled her eyes and proceeded to tell me not to put the card by my phone. I told her it hadn't left my hand since she gave it to me and again she rolled her eyes. Finally we get in our room and the toilet ran all night but we didn't want to go through another ordeal with the person at the front desk so we just shut the door. Took a shower and didn't have a hair dryer. To top the cake the person at the front desk in the morning, I told him that our toilet flushed all night and he basically ignored me and said that that just happens sometimes. Never been so discouraged in a hotel staff. On a good note, the bed was really comfortable.

"On the River - Newest addition - great view and room"

5
21/10/2015

We visited Hannibal on the 17th day of a long trip. We stayed in the new addition to the hotel and it was fantastice. Great beds - king size beds - four adults - and plenty of room. With a morrning view of the Mississippi, and overall auality, this was a great stay.

"In the heart of town"

5
21/10/2015

We had a very nice stay in this hotel. I was pleased that it was right downtown. It was quiet at night and right across the street from the Mark Twain homestead. We could walk to all the things we wanted to see in town. I would certainly stay again.

"beautiful views in a super nice room"

5
19/10/2015

This hotel was very nice and reasonable for a new building. The view of the river from our room was beautiful. The bathroom was beautiful. It was much more reasonably priced than comparable hotels we have been in recently.

"Overpriced"

3
18/10/2015

We were not aware of the festival this weekend but felt the room rates were very high. Also the front desk clerk was quite impatient with those of us checking in due to parking restrictions. The room was adequate however the bathroom mirror needs replacing as it has damage from moisture and left it with a haze. The breakfast was ok, biscuits were the best, but the area needed cleaning and there was only one person keeping the food area filled. With so many guests and the overflow hotel, they need more help during breakfast. I think our next visit we will check in elsewhere.

"On the way home from Nashville"

5
17/10/2015

Front desk staff was friendly, Breakfast was very good biscuits and gravy, awesome egg bacon and cheese thingys. The river view is wonderful from our room. Large shower and clean rooms. I would recommend highly.

"Good Breakfast"

4
16/10/2015

Mostly, this is a good motel--probably the best in downtown Hannibal. Rooms were nice and mostly clean. We were there for three nights. However,, the last full day we were there, the keys did not work, and, more importantly, the room had not been cleaned, no new towels, coffee packets, soap or shampoo. Since we were out of the room all day, the desk clerk and other had to resupply the room since the cleaning staff was gone.

"Great location when staying in Hannibal, MO"

3
15/10/2015

The location of this hotel is great for walking to the downtown area of Hannibal. Be sure to check the hours of different restaurants & attractions because some are closed on Mondays and some on Tuesdays.

"Caution!"

1
14/10/2015

This hotel has an indoor open pool in the lobby as you enter the hotel. The entire hotel smells like mold! My husband peeled a small amount of already peeling wall paper to expose mold. The ceiling had been patched and repainted to (we suspect) hide the mold. This far outweighed the comfortable bed and decent breakfast.

"very good"

4
14/10/2015

clean, comfortable and in a very convenient location for visiting the mark twain exhibits and there are some decent restaurants within walking distance.there is a nice indoor pool too. we enjoyed our stay here.

12/10/2015

My girlfriend and I took a road trip to Hannibal for fun ! We chose this place cuz it was perfectly located. It is right in downtown, our room overlooked the river and we could walk to almost everything! The bonus was it was extremely clean and felt like a new hotel1 If i go back to Hannibal I will stay there again for sure!!

"A night to remember!"

5
12/10/2015

We greatly enjoyed staying at this hotel. The interior is set up in a very unique manner. The room was quiet and I had a great time. I was traveling on business and there was only one room left when we arrived so I chose to share with my business associate (boss). We had a great time and I hope to share rooms with him again very soon! I'll never forget the night.

"Nice!"

12/10/2015

Stayed here for 2 nights while visiting the historic town of Hannibal. This hotel was perfectly located. The room was clean and very spacious. They offered a nice selection of breakfast foods in the morning. The staff seemed to take pride in their work. I would definitely stay here again!

New building , some paint smell and there was work going on outside. the location is walking distance to the historic center, the river cruise and Musum. there are good restraunts across the street . and a great view of the river

"On The River"

5
11/10/2015

We stayed 4 nights and were very satisfied. We has a view of the river and downtown Hannibal from our window. It is just across the street from all the Historical District and on the same road that leads to Mark Twain Cave so access to tourist activities is a breeze. The rooms are modern and clean, the staff is friendly and the breakfast is great. You won't find better value for the money in the area.

"Great hotel choice in Hannibal."

4
09/10/2015

Great price for a double queen room with a river view. The room was large, clean and quiet. Breakfast offered a nice variety of foods including a few gluten free options. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

"Best Western- Hannibal"

5
08/10/2015

Best Western- Hannibal, Missouri is a centrally located hotel for taking in the sights and landmarks of Mark Twain. A very pleasant stay. We would definately stay there again. We had two other families that stayed there and it would have been nice had we all been in the same building.

"Our best stay at the Best Western"

5
08/10/2015

The best place to stay when visiting the Hannibal waterfront attractions. Very clean, comfortably priced. My wife and I had a third floor room overlooking the indoor pool. The room was up-to-date, bright, and worked out perfectly as parking was right at our level - the BW is on a hillside - and their glass elevator was always there for us. Breakfast was more than ample with variety. You can walk to almost anywhere in town from this location. Highly recommended!

"Comfortable Beds Quiet Room"

5
05/10/2015

We had 2 king size beds which were extremely comfortable. It was convenient for both my sons to sleep on one and my granddaughter and I to sleep on the other. There was plenty of room for each of us to "spread out" and not bother the other person!! Even though we were on the ground floor, we weren't bothered by noise out in the parking lot. The bathroom was huge and you could hardly hear the shower!

"The Hinrichs"

03/10/2015

Great location. Close to the river, attractions, and easy walking distance to restaurants. Staff was helpful and friendly. Clean and comfortable room. The complimentary breakfast was good including fat free yogurt . . .nice surprise.

"Best Location in Hannibal"

5
02/10/2015

We spent a night here on the way to Kansas City. We love the river so requested a river view. It was a third floor room, in the older section of the hotel, and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. Sunrise over the Mississippi was spectacular. Hotel room was comfortable and clean. View down over the atrium was nice. Good breakfast. Our check-in gentleman was friendly as was the check-out one. Location cannot be beat -- you can walk to everything in Hannibal, a town with much to offer.
