"Nice property - Great Staff!"

User 14/02/2019

In a word this property is CLEAN. We were impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the hotel. It sits back from the road and doesn't look like much from outside, but it was surprisingly roomy and had everything we needed.

"Best Motel In Our Area"

User 13/02/2019

Located on the bank of the Tuckaseegee River (known for its world-class fly fishing) this lodge will quickly become your favorite base camp location for visiting the Great Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Park areas of western North Carolina.

"We are out of pillows??"

Venture17158931022, Augusta, Georgia 11/02/2019

We stay at this hotel several times a year, but this stay was not as enjoyable. We were staying with our 2 young granddaughters and were staying in a room with a sofa bed. When we were getting the sofa bed ready we discovered that there were no pillows for the sofa bed, so we called down to the front desk to request two pillows we were told that they were out of pillows, out of pillows, a hotel out of pillows? We were offered a comforter and a pillow case, wow really.

James G, Manager at Best Western Plus River Escape Inn & Suites, responded to this review
I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you by our running out of pillows. It was a very unfortunate occurrence and we are taking steps to make sure we have more than enough so that it never happens again. We hope that you will return to the River Escape so that we will have another chance to provide you with a superior experience.

"Great property, problem room"

Myfamilytravels-03, Benton, Tennessee 29/01/2019

Stayed one night in late January. The property is beautiful, the hotel is well appointed and clean. We loved listening to the river from the balcony on a mild January day. But we had room 215, and when one of our neighbors took a shower, the water noise in our room was extraordinarily loud, as if someone was using our own shower, but even louder. I woke up in the middle of the night to this sound, and my husband didn't quite believe me until it happened again the next morning, and then he was amazed he slept through it. And when we used our shower, the water would stop completely for a few seconds, then come back on. I'm sure not all the rooms have these problems, but I would avoid room 215.

James G, Manager at Best Western Plus River Escape Inn & Suites, responded to this review
Thank you for staying at the River Escape. I apologize for the troubles you had with the showers. Please come back to see us again.

"Great hotel with great staff"

We chose to stay at this hotel because it had great reviews. It is a great place to stay. Staff is friendly and willing to help. The room was clean and the breakfast was good. The view of the river is awesome. We came because our son was at a WCU camp.

Nice setting, nice decor. The place was very clean and looked freshly remodeled. Comfy bed and decent hotel style breakfast. River was nice to look at. Nice selection of movie channels for evening movie watching. Internet connection worked well.

"Great Hotel a Little Off the Beaten Path"

Penny M, Coldwater, Michigan 06/01/2019

Great hotel, nice hot breakfast, a little of the beaten path - it is not actually "in" Dillsboro - you have to drive about 1/2 mile to get there - quiet and great staff! Good value for the price - recommended!

"Overall rating: Good. Pleasant place due to the location with a lovely view of river."

User 02/01/2019

I would rate this hotel between "Average" and "Very Good" (hence the "Good" in my title). We visited here over the Christmas holiday to have fun in the Cherokee area. The hotel was convenient to many of the places we wanted to go, although a little bit further from them than it had looked on the map. Our first impressions of the property were not good-- the drive into what looked like an industrial area was a bit concerning, but we were truly unhappy when we arrived well after check-in time (3:45) and were told that our room was not yet ready. After a long day of driving this was really disappointing. The man at the desk was clearly overwhelmed by a group, and I was surprised the hotel did not have enough staff members on hand to deal with their bookings. We went out to see the town, and came back later in the evening to be told that it was finally ready. Going up to the room we found that the door had been left wide open, presumably hours before by employees who assumed we were sitting around waiting. Later in the evening I went down to the lobby area to make some hot chocolate and found there was no hot water available-- the area was messy and not maintained. The next few days were much better, particularly because after the first night there were few people in the hotel so the staff was able to keep up. Ultimately we found that we enjoyed the hotel. Our riverview room had a lovely balcony, and in spite of the cold weather it was fun to sit outside. The pool room was nice with a good hot tub. We loved building a fire in the fire-pits outside, and were pleasantly surprised to find that the hotel had firewood, a lighter, and started bricks available for guests. Kristen at the front desk was very positive and helpful. Breakfast was fairly similar every day. The pancake machine wasn't working, and the fridge with pictures of eggs on it never had any hard-boiled eggs in it. There were limited vegetarian choices (*please* offer some gelatin free yogurts and at least one egg option with no meat in it every day!). The woman who ran breakfast, however, was very helpful and friendly.

We loved everything there, the rooms are really nice, spacious and very well equipped. The breakfast is decent with different things to choose from. The fruit was delicious and they encourage you to get anything you want for a later snack. Our room had a nice balcony with the view of the river that is located right by the hotel. The staff was fantastic and very friendly!! We will definitely stay there again and highly recommend it!

Nice room with calming colors. Megan at the front desk was very helpful. Our stay was short but very nice. Good beds! Very nice breakfast buffet. The TV was HD and programmed as such. No stretched screen and nice selection of channels.

"GREAT weekend getaway!"

Tink1197, Charlotte, North Carolina 10/11/2018

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend exploring the Dillsboro / Sylva / Cherokee area. This hotel is lovely and right on the Tuckaseegee River. We had a riverview suite and it was just perfect. It is obvious the staff takes a sense of pride in this place as everything was spotless and in order. All staff was very friendly and this did not go unnoticed. Thank you for a lovely weekend!

"This hotel is a hidden gem"

knight3330, Cape Coral 01/11/2018

When browsing for hotels for our 17-year anniversary, we found this one and couldn't believe the 5 out 5 stars review it received. No hotel is that good, is it? Upon arrival, we could not have been happier. Extremely friendly staff, super clean facilities and rooms, fantastic view of the river. Even the carpet BEHIND the TV stand was immaculately clean. Definitely coming back.

redbutterfly33, Greenwood, South Carolina 31/10/2018

We paid more than usual to stay here because of being on the river and having your own balcony to sit on and enjoy the sounds of the water. My sister and I needed a relaxing getaway and we were not disappointed. We even stayed an extra night because of the atmosphere. Breakfast was nice-more than just cereal and pastries. If you can, sit at counter overlooking river. Annette in dining area busy making sure the area was well stocked and she was very accommodating. Alli and Meagan at the front desk were friendly and helpful also. If you need a nice, relaxing getaway, this is the place. It's also convenient to Sylva, Waynesville, Bryson City, Franklin and so many neat towns.

i have stayed here several times when hiking in the area .. it is always good. the staff is great and the breakfast is excellent. you can walk along the old tracks along the river into town and visit the smokehouse but bring a flashlight for the return trip. they always have coffee and tea available here which is something marriot has not quite figured out.

"Best Western by the River and with the wife"

GRALISTAIR, Dalton, Georgia 18/10/2018

I don't usually stay at Best Westerns but did an Expedia search with our criteria - indoor pool, free breakfast, river or mountain view and up popped this hotel. A little more than I wanted to pay but most hotels in the area had a higher price for that weekend. It was also our 38th anniversary weekend so I gladly paid it. We got a king bed with river view with balcony and my wife loved the room. Being able to step through the doors and watch the river go by was wonderful. A really good stay. The hotel indoor pool and spa was good too. Breakfast not bad at all - bacon on the menu which is always a plus for me.

"Anniversary Trip!"

User 16/10/2018

Booked 3 months in advance for a 3rd flood honeymoon suite. Arrived to be told that room was given away to another couple who were staying two nights because we were only staying one night. Room 215 was directly across from the elevator, the overlook down to the lobby, and overlooked the umbrella covered deck below. Very noisy all night long from above, in the hallway and through the lobby entrance. Room was clean and well appointed. TV and channel options excellent. Balcony clean and appointed with nice balcony chairs. View of river good and somewhat obstructed in this particular room due to deck below covered in umbrella tables. Continental breakfast basic. Dining inside and out on the covered deck overlooking the river. I would haven given the hotel a "5" if we had received the room we booked in advance, confirmed two weeks prior and the check in staff had seemed a little more concerned about it. It's the little things that make special occasions special.

Meg O, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Plus River Escape Inn & Suites, responded to this review
Thank you for staying at the River Escape. I'm sorry you did not get the room you had hoped for. I hope you had a wonderful time, nonetheless.

"Beautiful hotel, but noisy!"

michael t, Rock Hill, South Carolina 16/10/2018

We stayed in the King, hot tub suite. It was clean, but way too much blue. The staff was friendly, and the hotel was beautiful. The breakfast had limited selections, and only 3 cereal selections, from a dispensor. Overall, it is a nice hotel!

User 07/10/2018

Great place to sit back and relax (was there on Sunday-Tuesday) Porch view was amazing but we had a 2nd floor right over the river deck, every morning we had someone out talking on the deck early. We wanted to sleep with the windows open but couldn't

"One of the Nicest Stays"

freshestfigs, Asheville, North Carolina 25/09/2018

Our room was on the second floor, facing the river. We opened the french doors, the windows and left them open all night. It was heavenly. Sylva's right down the road and is such a sweet town, from what we saw. The Guadalupe Cafe is well worth a visit; the food is excellent and Innovation Brewing makes some of the most outstanding beers in NC, so say I.

"It's peaceful"

User 20/09/2018

The Good:This hotel is right next to a river as the name suggest. The river and the mountains make a great view. The Bad: I suggest you bring one of those portable bug zappers. I guess they can't help it, but there were these tiny red flying knat things in my room. Every time I poured a glass of juice or tried to eat in my room they were all over it.

Place was very, very clean. room was nice and spacious, with a wonderful view of the river. Breakfast was hot everyday with a nice variety of hot and cold breakfast items. it was a little hard to find, but that is also good if you like it quiet. We look forward to returning again.

Loved this Inn!!! Went for a college tour to Western and the location was great! It wasn't far from the college, close to town (for shopping and dining), clean, good amenities, nice staff and LOVED the water view/ access! A little pricey but they deliver so can't begrudge them for getting all they can and it is very well upkeep so the money is put back in the establishment, you can tell.

Tabatha S, Haleyville, Alabama, United States 09/09/2018

This hotel is situated quaintly in downtown Dillsboro. It is so quiet and relaxing. The balcony river view rooms are amazing. The pool is nice. The continental breakfast is so, so, but the fact that you can eat it in the downstairs balcony is amazing! Would definitely recommend this hotel! My only complaint would be the beds were not super comfy.

Meg O, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Plus River Escape Inn & Suites, responded to this review

"Perfect Mountain Escape"

great find that has the prefect location while visiting the mountains - balcony rooms overlooking the river along with an indoor pool, Jacuzzi and fire pit which was a perfect way to make smores at the end of the day. Easy walk into town as well as clean and spacious rooms - whats not to like? (the staff were friendly as well)

not a good start to our smelled of mildew, and floor was damp..moved to another room...view was awesome of the river..sound was soothing..everything else was just adequate..not sure what the "plus" is but the BW in Waynesville was far superior.

This has to be one of my favorite locations, River view, great service, what's not to like, A little bit off of the main road, but this just enhances it's charm. We were impressed with the river view . Overheard a guest say that he saw an eagle land on a rock in the river.

The manager at Bogart's Restaurant sent us to this hotel with good remarks. Excellent choice. Our large room faced the river. We had a balcony and very comfortable beds. The hotel was clean with indoor and outdoor eating area. You do wonder about the hotel due to the entrance route, but once in, all doubts disappear. The clerk was efficient and friendly. This is an excellent stay and will be on our list for all future travels.

"Beautiful river view and great staff"

Mom3boyssc, Fort Mill SC 27/08/2018

We recently stayed here overnight while visiting Western Carolina University. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Check in was a breeze and the staff we met from the front desk to breakfast were very nice and helpful. We had a riverview and a top floor and the balcony was so enjoyable to sit on and watch the water (and geese, rafters, and fisherman) go by. Very peaceful. A little odd to get to but totally worth it. Would definitely stay here again!

"Beautiful small hotel tucked next to the river...."

Mark H, Winston Salem, North Carolina 26/08/2018

While we wondered about the hotel as we drove up (you cross railroad tracks and have to wind your way around a hilly road to get here), do not be fooled, this is a real gem. Quiet and secluded, it is a wonderful place to stay in the Western NC mountains! Nice staff, clean safe and the location is total wonderful.

"Great hide-away"

angarone, Princeton, NJ 22/08/2018

This hotel is all by itself on a road by the river. The pool and hot tub are great- I rarely use hotel pools because they smell too much like chemicals- this one was clean and luckily we had it all to ourselves. The room was clean. The staff pleasant. The location was good for visiting Smoky Mt NP as well as Fontana Lake and Gatlinburg. The food in the area is slim pickings especially later in the evening- we ended up at O'Malley's most nights. Harrah's Casino in Cherokee isn't touted much but it is a small taste of civilization with plenty of food, 20 minutes from this hotel.

"So restful by the river"

matmul45, Loudon, Tennessee 19/08/2018

We had a very nice room with a balcony with comfortable chairs overlooking the river . It was so restful to sit out there reading or to watch kayaks and river rafts float by. The breakfast included a nice selection of foods and some seating outside by the river. I was a little annoyed though when we arrived after check in time and our room wasn't ready. But, they solved the problem in a timely manner.

Very nice hotel with an amazing view of the river. We had room with balcony overlooking the river but even if your room doesn't overlook river, they have rockers and chairs and even a fire pit by the river. So beautiful and peaceful! Hotel was very clean and really good breakfast with a lot of choices. Enjoyed breakfast outside by the river watching kayaks and canoes! Very friendly and helpful staff. Great weekend get away with a lot of relaxation, just what we needed!

"It's an ok resting spot"

MissVOnTour, Milton Keynes 15/08/2018

First off, there is nothing really within walking distance and no restaurant on-site except for your breakfast service. Dillsboro is a 2 min drive and has got eateries but check their close times. Our room had a microwave and large fridge so we chose to pop to Wal-Mart in Sylva (10 min drive) and get Subway and other provisions. We chose to stay here because of its proximity to the Smokys and I was pleased with that. We had a day on the Blue Ridge Parkway and did a hike which was fab. About an hour's drive but well worth it. Our accommodation was on the ground floor facing the river which was a lovely vista point. The bedroom was 2 doubles, far smaller than other accommodation we've had on our trip so far. It was clean and comfortable. Breakfast selection was adequate and replenished frequently. There's a little market place (a few shelves) of snacks and drinks by reception to purchase when you're hungry! I've scored this average because compared to the previous two hotels we have stayed at on this trip, it lacked the equivalent welcome and wow factor I got at the others.

Clean room, good breakfast, beautiful balcony views. Would of given this place a perfect rating but 2 of the 3 nights we had to deal with smokers on the balcony next to us. Complained to desk and they said theyd talk to the guests but that didnt deter them.. they were back to smoking hours later.

"Ask for a room with a balcony overlooking the river!! It's magical!!!"

MerrittMLancaster, Lancaster 07/08/2018

The room was immaculate. We ate breakfast (eggs, sausage and gravy over biscuits, yogurt, fruit, while watching kayaks and canoes splash over the rapids outside our room! We saw a beautiful osprey fly low along the river an and butterflies had their morning breakfast from the fresh hanging flower baskets outside our balcony. Other people enjoyed eating outside on the big deck overlooking the water as they rocked in the rocking chairs and sipped their coffee. We only stayed one night (Saturday, Aug. 4) because Harrah's was booked that night. We had been at Harrah's several night prior and as nice as Harrah's was...this was such a nice change of pace. I'm so glad we ended our vacation with a stay here. The drive from Harrah's was quick and easy. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. I loved it. Thanks Best Western River Escape!! We will be back!!

"Middle of the road"

AmaMac0210, Dayton, Ohio 04/08/2018

The place is ok. The website is completely useless so anything to be done regarding the reservation had to be set up via phone. Once up in the room, it was clean. My only real complaint is that the food was horrible, breakfast wasn't stocked, there wasn't anywhere to sit, and staff wasn't helpful to assist. The view of the river was nice. What isn't written anywhere is that there is a lot of heavy vehicle traffic going down the road across the river from the hotel. It's noisy from early in the morning until after dark.

"Amazing river views."

Lucky2see, High Point, North Carolina 03/08/2018

My husband and I spent several nights there in June. We had a river front room and the view was great. It was so nice to sit on the deck and enjoy it and the all of the nature around it. The hotel was very close to town and restaurants. The staff at the hotel was nice and friendly. The breakfast was good and convenient. We will definitely stay there again the next time we are in the area.

We love this place! Rooms remodeled two years ago. Love the rockers on the porch. Great place to sit and watch the river flow. My goal was to sit with an adult beverage and read or maybe take a nap. I succeeded in all three!

"Nice hotel. Reasonable price."

The hotel was clean and bright. Nicely decorated with pleasant staff. We were in town to play in the rivers and enjoy the outdoors and this hotel was perfect for that. Just minutes away from NOC and other places to play. It has a really sweet pool and hottub. And it's within walking distance of downtown Dillsboro with it's cute shops and good dining.

great view of river at back of hotel. very very clean and quiet. best hotel in years...glad i stayed. love that shower. only one inconvenience... air conditioner had strange vibration that was annoying to sleep with. but was digital and had a timer! so i set it low for half hour then fell asleep. best night sleep in a hotel...bed comfort beyond explanation. worst part is i had to leave next day. definitely stay here

Carrie C, Gainesville, Florida, United States 13/07/2018

You take your breakfast out to the deck, where you relax at a table overlooking the river. As you eat, your child is entertained by the canoes and kayaks going by. Later, you walk along the river, going to the edge and getting your feet wet in the cool mountain water. We had a relaxing, beautiful time here! In addition to the river there's a pool, hot tub and fire pit with benches. Kudos to the hotel for having plant-based plates and bowls in the breakfast area (now how about a compost bin?). And a great selection of kid channels including Disney Jr! Clean, comfortable rooms in a fabulous location. Staff went out for their way to help with restaurant recommendations and drying off deck chairs after a rain, etc.

Just a one night stay. They were full so our room faced the parking lot but I did get to enjoy the river at the included breakfast I ate on the deck.very peaceful setting . About a 15 mile drive to Harrah's from Dillsboro. All rooms are suites so the pullout sofa gives room for a child or two . I think I paid about $210 including tax . not cheap but a good value . The room seemed clean . I would stay there again .

Bestwestern is one of my favorite places to stay! This hotel offers a beautiful river view that makes the stay relaxing and beautiful. The hotel is well layout with quiet rooms and large balconies. And if you didn't get a balcony room there is always plenty of space on the public balcony. The breakfast is great with a large selection for all ages. Quick check in and out service. Tubing and rafting nearby I wished we had take advantage of this. Fishing was tough but we still enjoyed it. I would stay here again.

User 17/06/2018

We were in the area to drop off our son at the Nantahala Outdoor Center's Kayaking camp and we stayed for a weekend. It was an easy 30 minute drive to the camp in Bryson City. We had a river front room with a balcony and adorondak chairs. Room includes a fridge and microwave and was spacious and clean. Recently remodeled with modern decor. Amenities include a patio area with fire pit and BBQ grills and indoor pool was nice but opened too late - 10 am for any early morning swims. Hotel staff was super attentive. Full breakfast buffet was average hotel fare except making your own Belgium and adding fresh bananas. Fresh fruit was limited to whole bananas, apples and oranges. Really would like to see more seasonal fresh fruit like melons and berries. Town of Dillsboro was very cute with a lot of shops and restaurants. A short drive away is Sylva which has more restaurants and is cute too! Overall it was an excellent hotel and we will be back next summer for another kayaking camp.

"Beautiful Escape!"

Born2go, St. Petersburg, Florida 15/06/2018

What a lovely hotel! We didn't have reservations and we were lucky to have a choice of either riverfront or non river view room for our one night stay. We opted for a non river, 1st floor room as there is an absolutely beautiful deck area right on the river with ample, comfortable seating. Our room was at the end of hall, furthest from reception area and we we able to us the side entrance so we were only 10 steps from our car. They sold beer and wine (limited selection) which we liked as the closest place to otherwise purchase was 5 miles away. We were quite tired when we arrived and the young lady was so friendly and helpful quickly producing a Dominos menu for pizza delivery. We had pizza on the deck and also breakfast (which was very good). Clearly the place has had extensive, quality recent renovations. Really nice room. There is an outdoor adventure center very close (less than a miles) and would be a great place to base yourself for a few days to explore the area. If you want to really pick your room and location, book directly with the hotel.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful spot on the River. Staff were very nice. Enjoyed the breakfast and view in the morning. Our room was comfortable. We always stay at this wonderful hotel on our way to Gaither Family Fest in Gatlinburg. It gives us a chance to "chill" and relax from a hectic schedule and drive. Situated overlooking the river is so calming. The renovation has been completed and the hotel is beautiful. Our room, with the balcony of course, was very large. We were not stepping on each other. The balcony has the most comfortable chairs to sit in and enjoy the river. The beds were very comfortable. Just a wonderful place to get away and enjoy the hills, mountains and river right out from your balcony. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The deck outside the lobby/breakfast area has very comfortable rocking chairs over looking the river. Wonderful place to sit and just enjoy the sounds of the river. We always make reservations for next year before we leave. Would be so disappointed not to get to stay here this time every year.

The hotel is clean and has nice rooms. Megan at the front desk went above and beyond for us. She recommended places to eat and etc. We usually stay at the Harroh in Cherokee for the same price we paid here so I was expecting a little more. It was filled with college kids which is expected for the area. But I would expect the hotel would have policies about noise. The room above is jumped , banged, screamed til 1am. And we heard all of this over having brought our on commercial fan for noise. Megan did all she could . I have a 6 hr drive today . It would have been nice to get some sleep. I'm not normally a complainer I know kids were just having fun. But after 11 respect others. The reason I'm actually giving 3 stars is because when I spoke to the manager about it this morning. He could have cared less. Kept looking at paperwork the whole time I spoke to him and he said sorry a few times and explained about the college kids and again could cared less.

Ron G, Punta Gorda, Florida 08/05/2018

This hotel does NOT exaggerate. The river view - optical and audio - is fantastic - we kept the window open. Our room was newly renovated - the bed was the best we ever slept on. We had room 317-A - that room is perfect if you can get it (although all the other rooms may be just as good). We loved everything about the hotel, - great staff, good breakfast, comfortable room - nice TV. Really enjoyed out stay and right near everything.

"Nice Hotel on the River, but....."

Wakecounttman, Apex, North Carolina 29/04/2018

Overall- 4/5 Very Good As a former "Road Warrior" traveling 30 years for business, both domestically and internationally, I have stayed in a wide range of hotels, from 1 star to 5 star. Location- 3/5 The back side of the hotel is a very nice setting on the river. Unfortunately, to get to the hotel you have to go through an industrial area. Once you get through the industrial area its an appealing hotel area. The town of Dillsboro is just a few minutes away. Value 4/5 Can be pricy during the season and special occasions, like most hotels in the area. TIP Work the system, checking Trivago, and Hotwire, as well as Kayak and others, and someone usually has a deal. This time it was Hotwire, under $100 including taxes etc. Staff - 5/5 Very good, helpful and pleasant as well as professional. Room- 5/5 Clean and no issues

Loved this hotel. It had so much to offer. Big, clean, comfortable room with balcony overlooking river. Fishing was awesome. Hot breakfast included. Picnic table and rocking chairs overlooking river on main level of hotel. Fire ring for campfires. Hotel provides wood and fire starter to hotel guests wishing to have a campfire. "Fantastic hotel for a nice quiet stay."

Henry M, Sharon, Canada 18/04/2018

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights and it was one of the best hotels that we have stayed at. It is located off the beaten track in a secluded area, yet still near a couple of small towns to go to for a nice meal. It is situated on a beautiful river where if you have a balcony room facing it, you will have a beautiful view. In the morning we loved watching ducks frolick in the water. Very relaxing way to start the day. The breakfast is very good and this is the first hotel where we found a machine to make great tasting pancakes. The staff were all very friendly and very helpful in helping us plan our days. The main reason that we chose this hotel was because it is located near Hwy. 441 which goes over the mountain between Cherokee and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. A beautiful drive. We will definitely stay here again if we come back this way.

Hotel is very clean and the river view and sounds are breathtaking! I recommend that you bring stuff that you can heat up in the microwave and drinks to put in the fridge because the hotel is in an isolated area. If you are tired you and really do not want to be driving around to find food, bring your own grub and drinks. The indoor pool is nice as is the small gym. The breakfast in the morning is pretty good and drinking coffee in the deck facing the river is bonus!

Big, beautiful rooms with anything you would need or want. Clean. Quiet. Those overlooking river are especially nice, but if you don't want to pay extra, go sit on the patio and watch the sun set or rise on the river while fish jump and birds fly over. Hot breakfast has whatever you might want to eat and the area is clean and well-serviced. Close to mountain attractions and other parts of the river -- excellent trout fishing and rafting. Good walking trails. Great place for a vacation or a business stay. Best I've been to in a long time. Did not rate the dry cleaning, etc. because I was here for the room services only, and those were great.

John L, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States 10/04/2018

We paid extra for river view and it was well worth the extra money. The room was nice and it was a normal hotel breakfast; in which was sometimes good and sometimes not so good. The staff were awesome/nice but not very professional.

floundahman, Winston Salem, North Carolina 05/04/2018

This was our first stay at this hotel. The room was very clean and attractive. We were 2 adults and 2 children and the room was quite spacious. We were not cramped. The view of the river behind the hotel is beautiful. Breakfast was good (there were gluten free options available). We will be back.

User 03/04/2018

The whole area is lovely and the hotel on the river was the crown jewel. Excellent service and view of the river. Of all the Best Westerns they have the best concept of what temperature the pool, hot tub and ambient air should be in the spa. Very enjoyable experience.

"Outstanding stay, couldn't be happier!"

jboynsteph, Wake Forest, North Carolina 27/03/2018

Nice hotel throughout - exterior, lobby, halls, and the room, seems newer, really like the decor and color scheme. Very nice folks, including the breakfast personnel. Didn't use their internet since I usually prefer my hotspot anyway. The breakfast was good good for included at this price level. Had a comfy night's sleep. And the river was a way cool treat! Oh, and we didn't even stay riverfront - I can only imagine how awesome that would be! Will definitely be back if ever in the area again!

"The search was on. "

User 25/03/2018

We were in town looking for places to rent since we are relocating to the area and happened just searched for nearby hotels and this was one of the choices. It was a good one. Even though slightly off the beaten path tucked back by the rivers edge it was really nice. The night staff was awesome and answered any questions we had about the area. Rooms are nice and even though we didn't choose the river view our three year old Son was more than ecstatic with what we called the train view since he got to see a couple of trains the following morning. The free breakfast had a little something to offer everyone hot breakfast, cereal, fruit, bagels, etc.... We ended up staying in town another day and did not think twice about returning to this hotel for night number two.

"Mesmerizing river-view"

robertrR7697OG, Coldwater, Mississippi 23/03/2018

We stay here as part of a large motor-car group each summer. The rooms are nice and modern and the beds are comfortable and everything is clean. I recommend paying extra and having a river-view balcony room. It is so peaceful that you can get lost in your mind as if you were the only person there. You are directly ON the river. It is literally FEET away from your balcony. If you enjoy the outdoors and serenity of it, this place will not let you down.

"Best Western Plus"

Trahlyta M, Atlanta, Georgia 10/02/2018

I think this is the best hotel if you are visiting Sylva, Dilsboro, or Cullowhee,NC.It is modern, clean, and safe but the view of the river is the big draw! You can get a room with balcony by the river.

"Great Dillsboro Spot"

burne4332016, Cary, North Carolina 05/02/2018

Our son goes to WCU so we have stayed at most of the hotels in the area and this Best Western is one of the nicer ones, and has a great view on the river. The breakfast is better than average as well. The prices do jump up significantly during football season

"Great Place to stay!"

Kaitlyn M, Ringgold, Georgia 29/01/2018

My husband and I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Super clean and really nice staff! Breakfast was amazing and it was a perfect get away for our first Anniversary trip! We were never bothered and could just simply enjoy ourselves.

"Beautiful location"

Nancy K, Huntersville, North Carolina 28/01/2018

Stayed overnight to celebrate my birthday with the luminary Christmas celebration in Dillsboro. Was very impressed with size of room and being able to walk outside room and sit by river. Love the rocking chairs! Breakfast was decent.

"This hotel is a hidden treasure"

Molly R, Atlanta, United States 05/01/2018

We had rooms with a beautiful river view. The rooms were large, clean and nicely appointed. The hotel is about 20 minutes from skiing and 20 minutes from The Harrah's casino We loved staying there and will return again next year.

"Best New Year Escape Ever!"

ANNE R, Commerce, Georgia 02/01/2018

Beautifully decorated hotel, loved the fireplace in the lobby gave a nice warm cozy touch to the decor, rooms were clean and crisp felt like I was the only person that had ever stayed in that room. One of the main reasons I booked this hotel was because of the beautiful view and access to the outside from the room s balcony! To wake in the morning with the sun glistening on the water of the rushing river and tucked off to the side the mountain in a short distance was absolutely majestic. This was one of the best hotels I have visited, I will definitely be back!!

"Love It"

jriceyork, york, sc 02/01/2018

We was pleasantly surprised of how much we have enjoyed staying at Best Western Plus in Dillsboro, NC. This is second time not a bad drive from Casino. It is right on the river and patio all the way across back of Hotel so you can see the water and all the ducks and kayak on the river in the summer time. Lovely hidden treasure.

"Looking for a place to stay in the Smokies, this is it!"

DDSquare, Tarpon Springs, FL 31/12/2017

All I can say is WOW! I would never pick a Best Western to stay at just driving down the highway but after searching and reading reviews we made reservations here. This place does not disappoint. The scenery, the staff, the rooms, the amenities all were great. We had a corner river view room on the ground floor and was nice size (not sure if it was bigger or smaller than a typical room). The room had a walkout patio that you could sit out and enjoy the view. The room was spotless except for an empty pack of cigarettes on the patio. The pool area was spotless and stocked with plenty of towels. The kids enjoyed it very much. The only drawback was the handicap lift to get in and out of the tub was not working. Front desk said it needed a new battery pack. They did have a free breakfast in the morning and again everything looked extremely clean and fresh. Outside there was a fire pit area with a few picnic tables. We did not use it but was told they supply the stuff if you choose to build a fire. Only drawback here is the pebble ground covering is not very wheelchair or power chair friendly. The town was absolutely beautiful and we hope to return in the summer or fall and stay here again.

"Holiday trip to mountains"

User 30/12/2017

The hotel location is great, overlooking the river. Hotel staff were nice. Oncely issue I had was when we found bug on one of our bed and urine stain on one bed sheet. Hotel staff promptly replaced the bed sheet when we reported about the stain.

"Terrible anniversary venue"

User 28/12/2017

Will stay elsewhere next anniversary. Thought we would be making memories of a lifetime. Instead, had to cut short due to being uncomfortable and having a misrepresented view. Location was on a side road with the look of a forgotten construction area.

"Graduation joy"

Galiehs, Wilmington,NC 21/12/2017

Great service by all of the staff. Everyone was very accommodating to all of my family needs. The room was clean. My only problem was the mattress was a little too soft on edges .However on a good note we all slept well. Breakfast selection was very good.

"Beautiful Mountain Town"

Susan L, Opelika,Al., United States 21/12/2017

We visited Dillsboro last week end and stayed at the Best Western Plus in Dillsboro. A very clean hotel located on a small river with a beautiful view of the river and mountains. Everyone at the hotel were very professional but very friendly also. The town of Dillsboro offers lots of shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance of each other. A very cozy town, the people make you feel very welcome. A nice place to stop in and " smell the roses". Enjoy

"Great stay"

User 20/12/2017

Stayed here for a trip to take the kids on the Polar Express in Bryson City. Great service, pool is great, and kids loved the breakfast. Drive to Bryson City is not long, and Dillsboro is a great little town as well. Will definitely return to this hotel.

My husband and I came here for my 50th Birthday!!! The staff, mainly Ali and Megan, went above and beyond to make our stay memorable!!! We wound up being snowed in, but the hotel has beer and wine and food in their tiny store!! We celebrated in style in our room!!! The hotel has a refrigerator and a microwave in the rooms! A nice walk-in shower, an indoor pool and jacuzzi!!! I can not think of a better place to be SNOWED IN!!! Thank you BEST WESTERN DILLSBORO & especially ALI & MEGAN!!! Ali even wrecked her car to get to work today and will stay the weekend in the hotel so she can work!! What a dedicated Employee!!! Thank you BEST WESTERN DILLSBORO for a Fabulous 50th Birthday despite the snow!!!

Spacious rooms and friendly staff! It was a great stay with a beautiful view of the river. Clean and well maintained. I would recommend this hotel. I wish I had been a little earlier in the season to see the autumn colors against the river.

"Great place to stay!!"

ericmM8794DN, Monroe, United States 01/12/2017

My family and I have been traveling to Bryson City for the last 13 years to enjoy the Polar Express. 12 out of our 13 years we have stayed at the Best Western. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The surrounding scenery is beautiful. My children love to go out on the back deck and sit by the river, and the surrounding mountain scenery is very enjoyable.

We stayed here for one night when we took the Polar Express in nearby Bryson City. We found the hotel to be family friendly, clean, excellent staff, updated decor. The grandkids enjoyed the indoor pool. Loved sitting outside our room and taking in the views of the river. We would like to come back in the summer to enjoy the many outdoor activities nearby.

We were in town for a volleyball tournament at Western Carolina. First time in the area, and the hotel was the perfect location. Rooms were clean, service great, and the riverfront rooms with balcony allowed us to enjoy the scenery. Great dining options nearby, and historic Sylva was a lovely spot to eat, drink and shop between matches.

Stayed here once before few years back and still is very cozy and quiet. Open the balcony just to hear the river below rushing away. Suggest to book early cause hotel does fill up quickly. We usually stay when visiting the Polar Express in Bryson City. Very easy on and off access to the Smoky Mountain Expressway, just make sure you bring a camera.

"river retreat perfect description of our stay"

anitasT8YY, winchester, United States 13/11/2017

The hotel was long the river with a beautiful view with calming sounds of the water and birds. We loved the fire pits and fun of sitting by a fire in the evening by the water. There was an excellent breakfast in the mornings. The atmosphere, furnishings and lighting made the common areas very inviting and friendly.

"Over priced, nice River view"

earlschieb, Higginsport, Ohio 12/11/2017

Over priced, to say the least. Nice Hotel, but now worth the money. Season, our check in clerk was very helpful & friendly. Comical, to say the least, when you walk into your room needing to use the restroom, to find no toilet paper on the dispenser, and no toilet paper IN the room. Had to find some for the bathroom. With my Military Discount, this room was just near $200 with tax for a night, and it wasn't even a spa/hotub room, just a River View. Had just left Gatlinburg, stayed in a 2 room Suite, with a 2 person spa, and was a nicer room, and it was only $85 a night, with tax. This place is nice, but extremely over priced. Highlights was the staff of this hotel, and the breakfast was fantastic, especially the omelets. Clean eating area, and had scored a 100 with North Carolina, which is excellent. The lady that runs the Breakfast was excellent.

"Hidden gem"

NikaAndMarek, Warsaw, Poland 12/11/2017

Very nice location on the river, so try getting the room with the river view. Friendly staff members. Good quality rooms. Breakfast could be much better but with "free breakfast" you get what you pay for.

User 10/11/2017

We enjoyed our recent stay. It is always a pleasure to see Season and be treated so graciously by her staff. We look forward every year to go to the mountains and stay at this hotel and enjoy talking to the staff. Please continue to take care of your customers as you always have done and it will continue to be a great hotel to stay! We will definitely be back!!!

"Great Stay"

I8560PManthonyr, Durham, United States 09/11/2017

Overall great stay in a nice hotel right on the river. There were a couple of leaf hopper bugs in the room but that's to be expected for the mountain location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Had the government rate so price was OK.

"If your're not handicap, make sure they don't give you a handicap room."

User 07/11/2017

In a rural industrial area of town right next to train tracks, tucked parallel against the edge of the river. Great view, but very noisy service road behind the hotel on other side of river. Received handicap room, bed height too low, the plastic sheet was not appealing nor comfortable. Bed edges very soft - lacked support. Room was clean & acceptable.

"Great place to relax"

potteryqueen, chicago 06/11/2017

The grounds are spectacular here. The river, patio, deck and outdoor fire pit. I loved them all. Will return every fall for the color changing. The pool and hot tub were new and clean. Balcony has super nice Amish chairs.

"Great Mountain Getaway"

This is a lovely hotel located right on the river. The hotel and the rooms are very comfortable, and there is an outdoor patio where you can sit and enjoy the serenity. The small towns of Dillsboro and Sylva had quaint shops and good restaurants. Loved it!

River View was a PLUS Location was good. Very quiet. Would recommend to any one! Staff was very good. Look up on line for this location and the pictures shown don't show the entire beauty of this hotel.

"Great view!"

Peggy28150, Shelby, North Carolina 01/11/2017

We stayed here for two nights while my husband was fly fishing in the area. The facility was very clean and neat throughout. Staff was cheerful and helpful. Loved the view. Wish there were sidewalks in order to walk safely into the center of Dillsboro.

"Great stay!"

E4678NCcarolw, Medina, United States 01/11/2017

This is a great place to stay after a day of riding. Get a room on the 3rd floor with a view, you will be happy you did. Staff is very friendly.Breakfast was good. Close to town. My only complaint if the pool is not " heated" and the hot tub is only a "hot tub", not a Jacuzzi. FIX THE HOT TUB! If you want a relaxing / quiet place to stay with great views stay at the Best Western Escape Inn.

"Great views and service!"

Christine S, Clermont, United States 29/10/2017

Hotel is located on river and has a nice view and vibe with seating on a deck overlooking the river. Rooms have been updated and decorated very nicely. Great complimentary breakfast included both hot and cold options. A good value for the money. Have stayed in more expensive places with less ambience and room quality. Would stay here again!

"Poor quality for the price we paid"

U9277OXmarya, Conway, United States 24/10/2017

Way too expensive for the quality of service received! Our room was not ready at check in and we requested on morning that our room be done early. We came back at 2:30 in the afternoon and the room was still not done. Beds had been stripped so my husband (who takes medication that makes him tired) was unable to put up the Do Not Disturb sign and take a nap causing us to cancel our dinner plans.

"Best Night's Sleep"

grahamn679, JONESBOROUGH, United States 18/10/2017

Great place to stay on the river. Super clean facility and grounds. Pleasant staff genuinely glad to greet and engage you. Can open your windows at night and listen to the river sounds. This was our second trip to this Best Western and we are planning a third.

"Nice view out back"

User 18/10/2017

This hotel is a bit out of the way but is still convenient to what we wanted to do. The front view is not so nice buit we had a back room and a gorgrous view of the river. The staff was extremely nice and very helpful.

liked very much will stay here again. location is great, not too crowded but close enough to Bryson city, and Waynesville for additional sight seeing, and points of interest. needs more set down style restaurants such as mom and pop types.

We stay here every time we visit our son at WCU. Never had a bad experience. Love looking at the river to relax. We highly recommend this hotel to everyone. Thanks for always making our stay wonderful

"Right on the river with beautiful mountainview"

Marianne S, Randers 01/10/2017

We passed the town on our way south and by coincidence saw this place from the bridge and decided to stay the night. We had a big balcony overlooking the river - room was very big with good mattresses. The girl at the reception was very helpful as to where we could find a place to eat and she just provided very good service.generally. We arrived late in the afternoon so we didn't really have time to sit out on the balcony and enjoy the nice view of the river and the mountains but it sure was great to listen to the river all night (we had the window open with mosquitonet firmly in place) and wake up to a beautiful view of the clouds hanging low in the mountains the next morning. Breakfast was great (both cereal, eggs, bisuits etc)- the lady that managed the breakfast was very nice and attentive to people in the breakfastroom. We will come again if in the area.

"Best Hotel for Western Carolina visits!"

This is my favorite hotel when we visit our son at Western Carolina. The rooms are large and very clean. We always stay on the river side so that we can have that awesome view. We would highly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I had seen this motel last year and decided we would come here this year. Great decision- lovely rooms- great staff and we both loved listening to the river at night and drinking our coffee on balcony in morning and whatever in evening. Look forward to next year. Also hot breakfast was very nice and the evening cookies were WOW.

This is one of the most beautiful and clean hotels we've stayed in. It has a very relaxing atmosphere with room decks overlooking the river. The deck furniture is so comfortable, and you can watch people kayak and the ducks swim. The staff are extremely helpful. We will definitely stay here again!

"River's Edge and Friendly Staff"

MSTraveller3, Pleasanton, California 11/09/2017

I can always count on Best Western to be clean and offer a good deal including a simple but solid breakfast. This BW, however, had one of the best views, right on the river and is worth it to get a room on the river side. There was a bit of noise from the highway across the river, but mostly you just heard the water rushing over the rocks. The staff was also the most friendly of all the BW I have stayed at.

"Western Carolina University grandmother"

Love staying on the Riverside - so relaxing - heated pool & spa - rocking chairs by the river - home away from home. Staff is so nice& friendly - I would like to give a shout out to Josh!!!!!!! He was especially friendly.

"Best Western Plus"

justinfX2370VN, Chelsea, United States 08/09/2017

This hotel is always consistent from room quality to the staff at the front desk. I always know that I will have a great experience at this location every month. After a not so good experience with another establishment in town, Best Western has continued to meet every need with their facilities. I will be back again next month!

"Mountain Escape"

Judith G, Saint Simons Island, Georgia 06/09/2017

This was a totally enjoyable stay! The location was perfect for exploring the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Smokey Mountain National Park, Pisgah National Forest and white water rafting. Our room was clean (no toothpaste splatters all around the bathroom), roomy and we'll lit. Loved the balcony overlooking the river. The pool and deck areas were so nice and we'll maintained. There was a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, just the sound of the river rapids.

"Better than advertised!!!"

76hilaryh, Durham, United States 05/09/2017

To quote my boyfriend - it's rare that you go somewhere that is actually "better than advertised." This hotel was definitely one of those experiences. He saw this hotel in "Our State" magazine and I am certainly glad he did!! We can't say enough about the room, the hotel in general, and the view from our room was absolutely AMAZING! The river was literally feet away from our patio and we spent many hours sitting on the patio or on the hotel deck, just looking out at the water and chatting. I honestly don't know how the trip could have been any better - and I believe the hotel was a big factor in making our holiday weekend a great one. This hotel is one I would definitely visit again and again...

"Quick get away"

Larry J, Monroe, Georgia 04/09/2017

Short stay but very relaxing. We have stayed here two times before and alway enjoyed the experience. You can relax by the river or you're just minutes from shopping and other attractions. Very clean and comfortable with friendly staff.

"Right on the river!"

MGorman2014, Knoxville, Tennessee 30/08/2017

Nice, newish or updated hotel. Our 2nd story room was spacious and clean, nice roll in shower with bars, which made it safer for my handicapped husband, a microwave, mini refrigerator and safe were in the room also. There was a patio, outside the downstairs breakfast area (free breakfasts) that overlooked the river. There were nice tables and chairs so you could eat or just sit and watch the river and the wildlife. Beyond the deck was an area where rocks had been made into a fire pit. All of the above is enough to make this hotel a very nice place to stay but, it was the people that worked there, especially Vic and Franklin (I hope that I got their names right) that made our stay awesome.

"Nice place"

sherylw628, Sumter, South Carolina 29/08/2017

We love staying at this hotel. The staff is very friendly, the location is nice and the view can't be beat. We have stayed here many times but this time we were pleasantly surprised that the rooms had been completely remodeled. Very nice decor. Our only complaint was the bed wasn't very comfortable. We will definitely be back!!

"Great view, great balcony!"

Elaine G, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, United States 28/08/2017

Perfect place to relax by the river. Comfortable beds, clean rooms and friendly staff. Close to lots of adventures in the mountains. Breakfast adequate. Request third floor with a balcony for the best view!

"A river flowed nearby...."

dandan22, Laurel, Maryland 26/08/2017

A gorgeous locale, great hotel, will return! Was there for a mini-family outstanding feature was the availability of tables and seating away from the doors of the hotel, which was perfect for our mini-reunion, and didnt interfere with guests of the hotel. Being on the bank of the Tuckaseegee River, a beautiful fast-running stream with rainbow and brown trout, our group had such a great time in a beautiful setting..We definitely will return!!

"High rate for low quality"

Linda L, Plainview, New York 26/08/2017

Room not cleaned one night when we returned late and tired went to front desk for Towels. Water pressure for shower stop and start. TV reception avail on only a few channels. Disappointed in hotel fitness room very small. This was not a quality hotel but a rate of $150 + for Fri and Sat night implied that it was a quality establishment.

"Great hotel for staying in the Smokies"

John L, Arlington, Virginia 24/08/2017

Was there for the 2017 Eclipse! This hotel did a great job to offer guests a special welcome package and host an eclipse viewing party the next day. Beautiful locating next to a picturesque river tucked into the mountains. Great terrace over seeing it all. Breakfast was well done with nice dining area and plenty of continental options. Would definitely stay again if I'm back in the area.

"What a beautiful spot"

Pegeen2017, Hollywood, Florida 23/08/2017

An excellent place for riverside relaxing. Beds were comfortable, refrigerator a decent size, and outside deck was very enjoyable. If you are not on any kind of restricted diet, breakfast was plentiful.

"A hidden gem for an affordable hotel"

Ray R, Cartersville, Georgia 23/08/2017

Our second stay was a great experience to view the eclipse. The staff was so creative, with a gift bag which included much-sought-after eclipse glasses, and a reception featuring moon pies, sun chips, eclipse cupcakes, and more. The hotel is very clean, and we really enjoy the whirlpool room. The breakfast is a step above the normal hotel-grade complimentary breakfast, though the single heated cabinet create a log-jam with people waiting in line. Peaceful setting, with one exception: During the week, many dump trucks are constantly driving by just across the river (there is a quarry/storage facility there). Just as irritating were some guests who brought a drone and kept flying it over the river. The hotel needs a policy limiting those to operation on the street side only, if at all. Room privacy is a concern with drones overall.

"Pleasant Surprise"

davidmD6792PB, Apex, North Carolina 23/08/2017

I had not stayed at a Best Western for years, but decided to try something different. What a smart decision on my part! The overall appearance and amenities of this hotel were above average, and the view of the river was relaxing. Just what I needed. Breakfast overlooking the river is hard to beat! I would also like to complement the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Well worth the value!

"Visit to Smokey Mountains..."

Lynne3855, Syracuse, New York 22/08/2017

We requested river view room with jacuzzi, the room was great, had a balcony with great "adirondack"chairs to view the river. Room was very clean and very large. Extremely happy with room. Breakfast was a standard complimentary breakfast, good way to start a busy day of hiking and rafting. The price was perfect for a 4 night / 5 day stay. Also, Megan at the desk was so informed as to things to do and places to eat. I would absolutely stay there again. Dillsboro was a great town, centrally located in Smokey Mountains.

"Excellent everything!"

mychele66, Edwardsville, Illinois 13/08/2017

This is the first time we have stayed in this hotel and everything about it is amazing! The view from our deck, free homemade cookies, hot tub, swimming pool, polite staff and very clean and modern.....we were very impressed!

"Riverfront Room"

omichael, Melbourne, Florida 13/08/2017

Riverfront room with balcony was great. Geese come in daily to rest and eat. Rafters kayak and paddle boards floating by. Bed sunk to the middle. Chairs in room and breakfast to low hard to get out of.

"River view is awesome!"

ivyr920, SC 12/08/2017

Only stayed one night. Room was very clean. Had a river view room and would definitely stay again. Breakfast was typical hotel continental breakfast. A pet peeve of mine for hotel rooms is there usually isn't a hanger in the bathroom for the hand towel, but there was actually a place to hang the hand towel here :).

"Great place to stay."

Hugh N, Athens, Georgia 12/08/2017

Hotel is along Tuskegee River away from town. Yet it is close to the Smokies and the Blue Ridge Parkway, A great base for trips to those areas. Staff are great, as is breakfast. Staying on the river side for the first time (we have stayed here many times), we say a great blue heron fishing in the river on several of the days we were there.

"Great stay on the River if you can find a deal in the price"

Kirkland08, Spartanburg, South Carolina 11/08/2017

I have always enjoyed staying at this hotel, but in recent years (I guess the remodel did not help any either) the prices have continued to rise to typically over $200 a night. Rooms are rather large and most have sofa sleepers too, so not bad for 2+ people either. The riverside rooms are even higher cost and would have enjoyed that even more, but used a discount thru, so was not available for the discount price. Worth staying there if you have an activity or business in the area. We went to Cherokee to the outdoor drama and was back at the hotel in less than 30 minutes.

"BW 1"

davidsS7133VK, Harrisburg, United States 10/08/2017

Great place to stay. Great scenery and good location to go white water rafting, visit the casino and close to Gatlinburg Tennessee. I would highly recommend someone staying at this hotel. This was my second visit.

User 09/08/2017

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Plus River Escape Inn. Loved the calm and relaxed setting. The fitness room was great and the pool and hot tub felt wonderful. My son loved fishing the river and although he never caught a trout, he did catch some small mouth bass. My only complaint is we only got to stay 1 night but we will definitely be back!

"Not very flexible"

Catherine A, King, United States 06/08/2017

Gave us the wrong room. Had to wait 2 hours for sheets and blanket to be put on the bed. View was good of the river. They do not get back with you in a timely manner. Would not stay again unless it was only place left

"Nice location and good service."

P7611NMfrankf, Orlando, Florida 06/08/2017

The rooms and service were great. Plus the river was nice. Great vacation spot and close to other attractions. Nice to breakfast area and the pool area waa great for the kids. You can sit by the fire and see the stars at night good stay.

"Worst Service ever!"

User 01/08/2017

I booked 4 months in advance - my one request/requirement was that the room should have a safe but it was not working. I was later told that I came too late in the day for them to activate it (what a crock) and it didn't get activated (fixed) until 3PM the next day. Found a bug on the bed, the sheets looked like they hadn't been changed - they were all wrinkled. Found bits of food on the floor by the furniture. I asked to speak to a Manager several times but each time there was no Manager on duty. I left a message for the General Manager to get back to me but my call has not yet been returned. Without a doubt, the worst service I have ever experienced in a hotel at all levels.

"Watch your wallet."

User 31/07/2017

Great hotel but watch your wallet when it comes to room rates. Calling the hotel will get u a high rate. Stick to the discount internet companies. Rates are all over the place and change daily. Visit there often but can't ever get the same good rate twice.

"Most friendly staff and great view of the river!"

User 31/07/2017

We enjoyed our stay, it was short only one night... We got a room with a river view. Beautiful to see and just sit and listen to. every staff member we encountered was very helpful and friendly. my only complaint is the bed was not comfortable.

"Family Trip"

anthonybV7015WJ, Cameron, North Carolina 30/07/2017

Our family decided to take a last minute trip to the mountains. We made the reservations on our way there around 10 p.m. on a Friday night. Check in when we arrived went great. Hotel is a short distance to many attractions. The view outside the hotel is amazing. The amenities they offer are great and free breakfast. Would highly recommend to anyone.

"Pleasantly Suprised"

716brandyy, Boca Raton, United States 30/07/2017

I was in Dillsboro for my sister in law's wedding. She booked a group rate at this hotel and asked us to stay there as I was in the wedding party and she wanted all of us together. I had previously planned on renting a house. I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the hotel and it's location were. The breakfast went well beyond a typical continental breakfast. The staff was very nice and the rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone coming to Western Carolina.

"Excellent Location and Facility"

User 26/07/2017

This is our second visit to the Best Western River Escape and it will not be our last. We came for our family reunion. The location is great: the morning buffet is outstanding; and the accommodations are excellent. The staff is very friendly and took care of all of our needs.

"Gem Along the River"

Just_an_old_Maui_Boy, Athens, Georgia 25/07/2017

Stayed here for a "last chance at summer" mini-vacation before school started back. My daughter and I took a father-daughter road trip to go rafting and picked this for our overnight accommodations. We were very pleased with all aspects of the stay! I opted for a room with a river view and was glad that I did - it was great to just sit out there and soak up the scenery. The pool was in great shape, there were plenty of snacks and drinks at the front desk if you needed a little something extra, and the beds were comfortable, not too soft or too firm (Is it just me, or does it feel like you're sleeping on concrete at some places these days?). Everyone staying there seemed sociable and friendly. This was definitely a family friendly place, in a good way. It was convenient to a number of restaurants within just a few miles. Be aware that the road leading to the hotel is somewhat industrial, but trust me you will overlook that very quickly.

"If you are looking for a place off the path!"

rdrake132016, Monroe, North Carolina 25/07/2017

Very nice hotel on the river! Private, great front desk staff. We will return when we are in this area of NC again. We enjoyed the river from the balcony in our room. Very clean and decent breakfast! I recommend highly!

"Look at your receipt."

Dessie I, Baldwin, GA 25/07/2017

We have stayed at this Best Western before....enjoying the river right outside our balcony, a clean room and a quiet night's sleep. This experience, however, was unfortunate. My husband paid cash when we checked in. I agreed to an e-mail receipt. I did not look at the receipt until I got home. Our room had been charged to my American Express card that I gave to reserve the room. I called Am Exp and disputed the charge explaining the details. Am Exp deleted the charge from my card.

"Beautiful view"

102shawnh, Warner Robins, Georgia 24/07/2017

Very nice and clean. Rooms were nice and spacious. Beautiful view of the Tuckaseegee River. Nice gym room and nice indoor pool. Staff was polite and helpful. Would recommend and will definitely come back.

"Get a riverfront room!"

AngelB837, Oneonta 20/07/2017

We loved this hotel right on the Tuckasegee River with a great patio out back if you don't get a room with a balcony on the river side, but get that if you can. The hotel is really nice but the setting makes it excellent!

"Mountain Relaxation"

Susan K, Virginia Beach, Virginia 15/07/2017

My husband and I love staying here. We always find it clean with a helpful staff. The best part is getting a river view room with a balcony! We were there in June and never turned the AC on. We slept with the window open listening to the river as we fell asleep! Relaxing on the balcony in the evening was the perfect way to end a busy day of sightseeing!

"We love it!"

LauraJean, DeKalb, IL 11/07/2017

We love staying here. The location is perfect, both for the river view and the strategic position at a major intersection near attractions. Watching the rafts and tubes enhances the experience. I love the addition of snacks and drinks. They even let us borrow a corkscrew.

"Fabulous hotel"

Margy65, Accrington, England 11/07/2017

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights after arriving from the UK. What a gem and so relaxing after a long flight. We had a river front room which was great. The hotel is in a fabulous position. We spent the day sitting out and watching people rafting down the river and reading. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The hotel is in easy walking distance from the town walking down the railway tracks for dinner. If we are back in the area we will definitely stay here again.

"Right on the river!"

Susan B, Apex, North Carolina, United States 10/07/2017

Our daughter attends Western Carolina University, and this is approximately 5 miles away from the campus. We have been staying here since 2014, and it is one of our favorite destinations! If you stay on the river side of the hotel, you wake up to fresh air and the beautiful rapids right on the balcony! The free breakfast is warm and delicious and the staff are wonderful. This is a great place to stay, and we have never been disappointed. The owner has remained the same for some time, and they have a beautiful place. If you are going to WCU, this is a great pace for parents to stay.

"Great stay"

mom2kids09, Apex, NC 10/07/2017

This hotel is super clean and is in a perfect location overlooking the river. The breakfast was plentiful and really good, not just your standard toast and muffins. My only complaint was that we had to ask for toilet paper and were not given another bath mat after room was cleaned. But overall I would definitely stay here again.

"A Gem in the rough."

Dorothy J, Chapel Hill, NC, United States 10/07/2017

Have stayed here 3 times. On our last visit, was glad to see the hotel had been upgraded. Rooms are very nice, good shower. if you come get a room overlooking the river. Excellent staff and they serve a nice spread for breakfast....everything from pancakes to waffles, eggs, bacon, fruit, cereal and more.I grew up in the coal fields of Va. The drive into the hotel reminded me of this. Don't be alarmed, once you arrive you will not notice.

"Ok-dated and overpriced"

Mdl2003, North Houston, Texas 05/07/2017

Beautiful location, right on the river, however it was overpriced. Bed was mushy. Booked a double queen-given a single accessible and a roll away. Coffee was weak, basically dirty water. Staff was friendly.

"awesome trip"

christinegJ2155RZ, tampa, United States 04/07/2017

awesome close to the Smokey and Blue ridge mountains clean, bright, beautiful river view and close to rafting and hiking Staff was very accommodating and friendly. I would return happily, great for couples, singles and families

Thomas C, GREENWOOD, United States 03/07/2017

We came to Dillsboro NC to relax and that's exactly what we did. When we arrived at the Best Western we were greeted with a smiling face and a wonderful attitude. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we hand a very enjoyable stay. The room was very tastefully decorated and that view of the river....that's what I came for and it did not disappoint. Great job team, we will be back!!!

Lisa H, Lumberton, United States 01/07/2017

Very pleased with this hotel. Very clean and good customer service. Beautiful river views and convenient location. Anytime I need to visit the area, I'll plan to use this hotel and would highly recommend this hotel based on cleanliness and price.

"River view: quiet, clean, comfortable"

Rebecca P, Branchburg, New Jersey 30/06/2017

The hotel is off the main roads with and sits right off the Tuchaseegee. Our river view room with two queen size beds was quiet and clean. I found the beds and pillows very comfortable. We took advantage of the free breakfast...very typical but stepped up variety...yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, bagels, toast, muffins, waffles, eggs, sausage bacon, biscuits, gravy and grits.

"Beautiful location on the river"

GAIL L, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom 29/06/2017

Had three nights here as part of a road trip. Really nice hotel. We had rooms on the ground floor with access to the terrace and overlooking the river - they were perfect. It was a great place to sit with a coffee and enjoy the view. Spacious rooms and a good breakfast and coffee/tea was available most of the day. Good location to visit the Smoky mountains and Cherokee. One or two restaurants in Dillsboro but found more in Silva .

"A glitch in what had previously been a GREAT place to stay"

Tim L, Jefferson, GA, United States 29/06/2017

We have stayed at this motel numerous times and always with great pleasure, several times adding miles to our route just to stay there. However, our last stay was unsatisfactory. While the facility, staff, and service were as great as ever, while out on the room's balcony enjoying the ambiance of the river, someone started a fire in the poolside fire pit. from the obnoxious odors emitted by the resulting smoke there was a heavy odor of suspected petroleum distillates. Thus we were forced to abandon the balcony, close the windows, and still endure the smell until the A/C cleared it from the room. Heretofore we'd also enjoyed peaceful stays. On this visit it sounded like a herd of cattle on the floor overhead and someone playing a Chinese fire drill with room doors. That did pretty much abate by 10:00 PM with one outburst of stomping feet just after 3:00 AM. This is still a GREAT place to stay if they correct the fire pit's smoke and fumes. The ability to sit on the balcony and enjoy the river is the main attraction that has continued to draw us back back to this motel ( in addition to a great staff).

"The view, the sound"

12michaeles, Winston Salem, United States 25/06/2017

The sound of water flowing over rocks is very relaxing to my wife (and to me). Beautiful location. Lots of attractions close by. Well staffed, friendly and helpful. Having a balcony overlooking the rapids is a real plus.

"Room decor!"

richardrT8911OG, Gastonia, North Carolina 24/06/2017

The setting is beautiful! Service great! The room decor(blue sheers) MUST GO. Makes the room dark and dreary. Should be bright and open. We were shocked at the change! We stay once or twice a year. It is so peaceful to set and watch any time of the day!

"Lovely hotel with river view"

Kristen C, Charlotte 23/06/2017

This hotel had a very comfortable vibe and the view was just beautiful with the view of the river.Nice outdoor sitting areas to chat and visit with friends or family. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. The breakfast was good too. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area. This part of the country is just gorgeous with the views of the mountains and the river. Very relaxing.

"River Views are incredible!"

Mary L, Greenville 19/06/2017

This hotel was off the highway and I would not have known of it had I not booked for a wedding. It did not disappoint at all. The river rooms are the way to go-the views of the rushing river from the patios are awesome. I would recommend it to anyone and I even said to my husband I would not mind spending a week there, the views were so restful.

"Great facility!"

617nathanielm, West Jefferson, United States 18/06/2017

Excellent facility. Modern and clean! Riverfront making for a peaceful stay! Staff were polite and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious. Overall excellent quality and definitely worth the money!

"Hidden Gem"

Michelle T, Lexington, North Carolina, United States 17/06/2017

What a pleasant surprise to find this hotel tucked away in the mountains, on the river. The hotel overall has a 100 rating and we would give it 100+ for cleanliness, service, accommodating and friendly staff. The hotel owner was very present and helping his staff meet everyone's needs. The rocking chair deck over the river is just what we needed! Thanks for a wonderful experience!

"Anniversary trip"

John B, Madison, United States 15/06/2017

The staff at this property made our Anniversary trip a wonderful experience! The ambience and location of this hotel is very special. Everyone was so kind and attentive to all our needs. We have already made plans to return July 4th and in October! This area and hotel is a must see destination.

"This Hotel is very special!"

User 08/06/2017

I love this hotel! First of all, the rooms are very, very nice and extremely clean. They are also very roomy. The views overlooking the river are exquisite. Every staff member we dealt with was kind, professional, and helpful. In particular, I was extremely impressed with Jess, Season, and Meagan. This is a lovely hotel with warm and helpful staff. You can't do better than this.

User 06/06/2017

Very nice place! The breakfast was wonderful!!!! Overall good! Need new pillows, but I like a big pillow not small ones! We ate breakfast outside overlooking the river! So peaceful! The employees were very nice and helpful.

"Best Hotel I have ever stayed in......"

Joelle0314, Abbeville, Louisiana 04/06/2017

We visit North Carolina often since we have family living there. I have found myself planning my trips only when I can get a suite in this Hotel. It is the best we have ever stayed in and I highly recommend it......

"Location,location, location"

MindyOrchard, Pawleys Island, South Carolina 02/06/2017

We were meeting family in a place that we had not been. Started with a house but I needed a bathroom that was handicapped accessible . Houses were not working out. Found this BWPlus and it had accessible bathrooms. We had a balcony on the river and the view was great. Unfortunately it rained everyday there and we could only sit out once. The hotel had a beautiful patio and we could only use it once ( the day we lift for breakfast). The common areas were very clean. A nice hot breakfast was provided and area clean. The cookies at night were a very nice touch. Would have liked more . Most people took more than one and they did not last long. Close to many places to eat and all the activities we were going to do ( GSMRR, Cherokee,Maggie Valley, etc). Highly recommend this BW Plus.

"Great Hotel"

I5217HGjenniferp, Fayetteville, North Carolina 02/06/2017

The staff is excellent and the accommodation ls are superb! Dillsboro is a quaint little town and offers close proximity to Sylva, Cullowhee, and WCU. Also Franklin is not that far away! Loved my stay

"Always improving!!"

Dana M, Enterprise, Alabama 01/06/2017

Every Memorial Day weekend, we run away to Best Western Plus River Escape in Dillsboro, NC. This year was no different. We are warmly welcomed. Always have a room with two beds, with a balcony over looking the river. The stress of daily life just seems to melt away as we watch the problems of the day flow down the river. It is the greatest place to rest, revive, restore and remember to enjoy life. Renovations are completed and the lobby/breakfast area and rooms are beautiful. There is more variety for breakfast than last year. Always enjoy the pancakes and muffins. Coffee is great. Even have coffee in the room before going downstairs. It is with regret when we have to leave. BUT, we have a reservation for next year already. Feel better to know I have a "room" for that specific date. The cost is not the concern, the room is. This is the only hotel that goes out of its way to do that for us. Where we stay in Gatlinburg, we have to sign a list and "wait" for them to call and hope we get a room. Thank you, Best Western Plus River Escape for truly letting us "escape" from the world for a few wonderful, peaceful hours. Till next year.......................

"Great hotel"

O4848JUjimp, Raleigh, North Carolina 31/05/2017

They updated the interior since I've been to this hotel it looks better than before. The service was great and the view of the river is spectacular. I would recommend this hotel to those people who are staying in the area or coming to visit WestWeb Carolina university.

"Tucked away riverside"

Frank F, Huntersville, North Carolina 29/05/2017

Nice somewhat hidden property...Very nice area and relaxing patio overlooking river..Good staff nice guests def will stay again. If I'm being picky I personally would prefer outdoor pool & hot tub not stuffy indoors..

"an incredable river venue"

Bertba, Hiawassee, Georgia 29/05/2017

this is my favorite BW due to its location on a dynamic river where the rooms are so close the view and sound of a rippling river is apart of the rooms décor with its sliding door and balcony. While the indoor pool is inviting the towns of Dillsborro and Silva NC invitees one to stay for days.

"Wonderful river resort. Great value"

I2990AMrobertj, Vinita, Oklahoma 27/05/2017

River Rapids right outside of our patio door. Delightful scenery, large room with all amenities and a hearty breakfast. No other buildings nearby but close to many fine restaurants in Sylva North Carolina

"Right on the River"

Donna H, Gainesville, Georgia 23/05/2017

We had a balcony overlooking the gorgeous river. We have never had a better river view. It was so romantic at night in the moon light. Open your Balcony Door and relax to the roar of the River. We observed Wild geese,Ducks and even a white Crane in the fast moving waters. The motel is fairly new and the rooms are in good condition. We had a room with a Jacuzzi that had a broken button that you had to work with to get to work but other then that the room was great. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was the standard "Continental" type. A patio is available so you can sit by the river for Breakfast. The hotel is secluded with little activity in the area but only a short ride to the rustic town of Dillsboro.

"Very nice"

User 22/05/2017

When my brother came to visit I recommended this Motel. I literally drove around and checked out each motel and the grounds and this one had the most Ambience. The front desk staff was friendly. The rooms were roomy, clean and nicely appointed. Overall I would say this stay was very pleasant and the room was very nice.

"Hidden Riverside Gem"

David R P, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom 21/05/2017

On the southern side of the Smokey Mountains this small gem of a hotel at Dillsboro is "a really nice place to stop and unwind". Definitely one of the best 'Best Wester Plus' hotels we have encountered in the USA getting full marks for every aspect of comfort, service and friendly staff. Unfortunately our stay was limited to just one night, but that was enough to determine that we will definitely be going back, even if we have to make a detour. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were very clean and comfortable, breakfast was more than expected and wow - say no more. Walk or ride into close by Dillsboro town for a nice dining experience.

"Clean rooms and friendly staff."

User 20/05/2017

I stopped very late at night because I just was too tired to drive any further. No reservation but I did get a room. The young lady at the front desk was very polite and helpful. The room was very nice and clean. I was sorry this was not my destination because I could have stayed here and been happy to stay. But I continued on my journey next morning ... Or tried to.. I had a dead battery. Because it was so early I could not find any service open. I consulted with the young man at the front desk. Eric had been so friendly and polite I thought he could recommend someone locally I could call for help..Eric went beyond what I expected. He was just getting off work so he helped me start my car and then followed me to an auto parts store just in case I needed more help before I got there. What a wonderful young gentleman.

"The riverfront room swept away everything that wasn't relaxing! :-)"

User 16/05/2017

I've traveled to the Sylva, Dillsboro, and Franklin areas many times this year.... Even more over the past four years. I generally stay in a cabin, but this time I chose the Best Western River Escape. It was phenomenal. From the check-in staff, breakfast staff, check-out staff, facility, room, and view, I could not be happier. The price was excellent. The location is convenient to every place I enjoy visiting and I doubt that I will ever rent a cabin again. The room was clean and surprisingly quiet for the first floor. It was perfect!

"Relaxing weekend"

Teresa M, Cumming, Georgia 15/05/2017

I brought my Mom & Dad for the weekend and they just loved it! I had been here before a few years ago, and was excited to go back. The staff is extremely friendly and the rooms are nice and clean. We will be back!

"Spend the extra $ for a river view"

purpledragonfly2016, North Carolina 13/05/2017

Best option for the area with wonderful views of the river. If you can, spend the extra $ to get a river view room. Very relaxing after working all day. Bed was so-so. May need to replace some mattresses.

"Love the Sound of Water"

User 08/05/2017

I booked this for one night. I was in a rush and did not check out any of the photos posted. It's on the other side of the tracks, not sure what I've gotten myself into. Well landscaped, very friendly, informative front desk clerk. Very nice, well appointed interior. Walked out the back door and was blown away. Great deck overlooking the river, miniature rapids, three men fishing on the opposite bank. There's a guy and his dog in a kayak coming from upstream. I did not want to leave! There's a walking trail into town. Rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. Good array of breakfast choices. I will be returning with my husband for a weekend getaway for sure.

"Bike trip"

Clyde W, Aurora, Illinois 03/05/2017

Stayed two days, during a motorcycle trip to various parts of the area. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Have stayed here in the past and when return to area, will stay again. Recommend hotel to all Harley Owner Group members.

Very nice place to stay. Beautiful setting, nice and clean. Would stay there again. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice. Rooms are clean. Hotel is in a good location, visit Franklin, Dillsboro, Sylva, and Cullowhee.

"Amazing Hotel"

Modern, beautifully decorated and right next to a beautiful river. Absolutely lovely. The breakfast is really wonderful also. Very friendly staff. Certainly want to come back for vacation. The rooms are HUGE and the accommodations are top notch.

"Wonderful locale, facility and rates"

WILLIAM G, ANGIER 25/04/2017

And do not get me started on Breakfast. Great food as you dine watching the Tucaseegee River roll by. Very handy to Dillsboro (do not miss the Model of Dillsboro BW has on 2nd floor near elevator) and Harrah's Casino

"Love the view"

Phyllis K, Tallahassee, Florida 24/04/2017

Had a room with balcony...could sit outside and listen to river the whole time. Very pleasant stay. Easy parking. Easy access to rooms. Decent breakfast. Pay extra for balcony...worth it. Front desk staff very helpful. Loved our stay.

"Can't go wrong staying here."

User 24/04/2017

Having a great location on the river is a plus for this hotel. The appearance of the property is excellent, as are the lobby, breakfast area and the room we were in. Spend the extra money and get a river view room. It is worth the money.

"great place, friendly helpful staff"

User 23/04/2017

This hotel was great. We originally booked for 2 nights but I was not feeling fell and had to cancel second night. We were kindly offered a refund on the second night which I thought was unheard of in the hotel business. This was very much appreciated and we will certainly return and tell friends and family our great service. Thanks,Kaye Hyde

"Our Favorite Place"

697timothyr, Charlotte, North Carolina 18/04/2017

An outstanding property and value with an exceptional staff. Rooms are always very clean and the property is well maintained. I use this property for business (groups) on a regular basis and everyone raves about the property and staff

"Good Stay"

149jimj, Gainesville, Georgia 13/04/2017

Good stay, nice, clean room. Riverfront room was very nice. I would Stay again! Helpful staff. Good location. Perfect for Sylva or Franklin destination. I hope I have an opportunity to stay again and will definitely stay here.

"Great hotel"

O1471BTdianeb, Hope Valley, Rhode Island 12/04/2017

Great hotel with a perfect location on the river. Very scenic views. Get a room with a balcony overlooking the river. Nice suite, lots of space. Comfortable beds and pillows. The hotel has a free breakfast that was nice, except the scrambled eggs were very watery. But the other items were good, waffles, sausage, cereals, boiled eggs, yogurt, etc.

"Great hotel with beautiful river view!"

rhondan534, Kernersville, North Carolina 11/04/2017

We stayed overnight at this hotel and it is wonderful. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The view of the river was the best!! I could have sat out on the balcony all day!

"Charles "

charlesa5555, Concord, North Carolina 11/04/2017

My wife and I stayed and room was clean and nice. Wifi worked well. Breakfast was fresh and plenty of choices. The front desk person was nice and helpful. I would recommend this hotel. The river runs all night , but room was quiet. The cookies were great .

"A little disappointed."

F3230FRrogerj, Cartersville, Georgia 09/04/2017

Needs better housekeeping quality control....The first room we were given we found multiple body hairs on the bedsheets and pillows (both beds), we asked for and was given another room... again found hairs on the bedding (not as much as first room). We were going to leave and ask for our money back, but it was getting late and ended up staying, after asking that the bedding be changed. The question we asked ourselves was, if the bedding wasn't changed during room cleaning, what else wasn't cleaned.... making our stay somewhat uncomfortable. The location of the motel had pluses and minuses.... the rear of hotel borders on the river (great), but the front is right across from railroad tracks (although it's seldom used) that detracts from the hotels appearance. Overall, the pool area was nice and clean. The only issue was that the jets on the hot tub we're not very invigorating, very minimal pressure ( not sure if this was intentional or not, didn't ask). The breakfast was pretty good, although limited for a "BW Plus". The staff was okay, although I felt they should've offered a room discount b/c of the housekeeping issues. There's a lot to like about the hotel.... Unfortunately the initial impression put a damper on our visit.

"Very nice hotel on a scenic river"

pupmom_12, BLOOMINGTON 06/04/2017

This location was a random pick for us during our travels to FL. We really were impressed with the cleanliness and beautiful setting right on the river. The patio just outside our room was a great bonus. Would definitely stay here again if we're in the area!

"Easy Drive to Many Area Attractions"

Angela S, Winder, GA, United States 22/11/2016

This is a very nice property situated in a scenic area. The staff was excellent and our queen suite was spacious with both a bed, sofa, and desk with chair. Dillsboro is just a short drive to Cherokee, Sylva, Maggie Valley, Franklin, Waynesville, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Smoky Mountain National Park and numerous other area attractions.

"Moved to another room while gone!"

Sissy B, Talladega, Alabama 12/11/2016

Please read this whole review. After being woke up at 10:30 pm our first night and told there might be a problem about our room we were informed the next morning we would have to move. I informed them we would not agreed to that. After putting a do not disturb sign on our door(I don't like my things touched by someone else) while in Ashville @ the Biltmore I was informed by phone that did happen. When we returned all our things had been moved to another room. Wish you could see pictures of how our things were left. Even my toothbrush had just been put on top of a ice chest and not wrapped up or anything. Computer was throw in opened luggage(not placed on desk as in other room) and other items as while. We stayed here because of a great article written in the Birmingham News about it's location. I will never believe what I read again but than you might not believe this. I told two managers we would not move and this happened anyway. The room we were put in had a headboard for a king and only a queen bed was there. The nightstands on the wall were therefore at least 8 to 12 inches from the bed. I booked on and booked a river view room. That's what we had till we were moved. I can't blame the staff but do the management. this could happen to you.

"Love the River!"

Michelle F, DURHAM, United States 08/11/2016

We had a beautiful view of the river from our room! The breakfast room faces the river as well. It's a great place to stay, relax, and visit with friends. The town of Dillsboro is so cute and has some great places to eat! We love the mountains!

"Warning--Room Rate was Changed at Check-In"

jkberger17, Atlanta, Georgia 02/11/2016

A word of caution before booking at this hotel: The original rate offered increased by $50 per night when we arrived to check in. There was no manager available on a Friday evening at 6:00 to help understand that we had only removed one night of our original reservation 3 days prior and we were never told that the rate had increased. We tried for 1 hour to get the problem resolved but to no avail. I would not stay here again because of the poor customer service.

"Warning - It's not what they advertise"

Jim H, Charlotte, North Carolina 30/10/2016

$222/night for a room that overlooks a parking lot although it advertised and what I confirmed was a 'riverview', runs out of 'hot breakfast' (see picture of the empty trays - all of them :15 minutes before closing), noise from the elevator and every car that opens/closes a door/truck, and wifi that provides a constant 'spinning wheel trying to load' service. Top this off with a front desk that says "yes, our corporate website doesn't match our hotel but you can call back on Monday to talk with a manager" and you end up with an highly over priced experience. This hotel is worth $68 to $73/night.

"Can't go wrong at this hotel"

Kiteman11, Asheville, North Carolina 30/10/2016

Excellent quality and location. Very impressed overall. Book it. You will not be disappointed. Location and view from the river balcony rooms are a must do. Enjoyed the facility and the outside deck area.

"Great Smokey Mountain"

Debra J, Durham, North Carolina 28/10/2016

Spent 3 days visiting Dillsboro, Sylva, and Bryson City. This hotel is right on the Tuck river and our suite had a balcony over looking the river. Breakfast had a wide verity of hot and cold choses. Coffee available 24/7. Nice sitting area with double sided fireplace. Great place to stay

"Beautiful, restful, relaxing riverside inn"

William B, Houston, Texas 28/10/2016

What a wonderful, surprising, beautiful place! Never knew about this little gem -- found it only because nothing else was available in the area (because of folks fleeing Florida because of Matthew). The surrounding area at first led us to believe we were going to be staying in an industrial facility or a warehouse, but then the property came into view and then we understood that part of the name (River Escape). We intend to escape to this hotel as many times as we can in the future when we are in the Sylva or Cherokee or Maggie Valley area (for example, to bring our grandchildren to ride the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad). Its was so peaceful and relaxing to sit on in the chairs just outside our room or walk to the veranda next to the lobby and drink wine and meet other equally happy guests (who made some excellent suggestions for other sights to see in the area). We wish we could have stayed here longer, but the place was booked up -- and certainly with very good reason!

"Overpriced for quality"

User 27/10/2016

We were pleased with the view of the river from our balcony. The rooms are outdated. The blankets smelled musty like they had not been washed in months. The breakfast was very nice and being able to sit outside while eating was a nice bonus. The check in staff and maintenance were very helpful and pleseant. Recommend you wash blankets and lowere the rate.

"Lovely room with great views"

missyshep, Aiken South Carolina 19/10/2016

We decided to stop in Dillsboro for the night on our way through the Smoky Mountains. Check in was quick and easy. The front desk clerk, Kassidy, was very friendly and helpful. When we asked her for recommendations for dinner, she printed us a list of restaurants in the area with the hours of operation listed for each. We chose a river view room. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Our balcony had two chairs with a small table to enjoy the beautiful river views. The continental breakfast had a lot to choose from. Omelets, waffles, cereals, etc Off the lobby is a balcony with chairs and rockers to enjoy the lovely river views. We were very pleased with our stay at this hotel.

"Nice quiet place in a nice quiet town"

agsutphin, Winston Salem, North Carolina 17/10/2016

This was a nice place in a nice town and a great getaway for a weekend. The staff was very friendly and the room was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was pretty good (eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuits, gravy, etc.) if you wanted to eat there, but is also very close to town and other options. We liked it and would go back.

Joseph S, Micanopy, FL, United States 17/10/2016

This was our second stay at this hotel. Hotel, service, and amenities are excellent. Setting on the river is great. Pool and Hot Tub area is very nice. Breakfast good. Staff is extremely helpful and pleasant. Would recommend this hotel.

"Listen to the river"

jeaniewolf, Center Moriches, New York 15/10/2016

This hotel was a really nice find. We stayed on the 3rd floor, balcony room. It was really nice sitting on the balcony, listening to the river going over the rocks. The room was immaculate, beds were ok, and the hotel staff extremely professional.

"Excellent staff and accommodations."

User 14/10/2016

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean, view great, pool and spa were nice. The staff was exceptional. The staff provided a list of restaurants in area. We enjoyed the surrounding restaurants and sights. Vikki

Daniel M, Rocky Mount 10/10/2016

Average stay, breakfast was average, thought this was an overpriced hotel for overall experience. Staff was nice and friendly. Location was nice but difficult to first find. This was not a $200 plus per night facility in my opinion.

"A great escape"

John H, Raleigh, United States 10/10/2016

This is a great place. It is right on a mountain river that makes nice splashy rapids sounds as I sit on my balcony. It is a bit hard to find but we have been her several times and know the way. It is very relaxing and comfortable and the staff is great.

"Best Western River Front"

Scott B, Cornelius, United States 08/10/2016

Located on the river with very scenic views. Hotel has been recently remodeled and updated and is a great place to stay. Not inexpensive but it is a good value for the money. A group of us have used this hotel for a fall mountain trip for the past two years and will continue to stay here in the future.

"Beautiful scenery BUT..."

User 03/10/2016

Well kept hotel. Great breakfast. Lovely view overlooking a beautiful lazy mountain stream for relaxation until a 24/7 (Sunday included) barrage of gravel trucks thunder constantly to & from the intermittent blasting quarry 1/4 mile away. No sleep from the constant rumbling so we checked out next morning & went to a quieter hotel.

"Beautiful "

User 02/10/2016

The staff was friendly and very helpful. The food was plentiful and the view was spectacular. I believe we enjoyed all that there was to offer. We enjoyed sunrise and sunset by the water and watched the fog roll off the water in the afternoon sun. Very nice get away from the hustle and bustle of Cherokee. Do stop and get ya some wood as the fire pit was relaxing to watch. Had a great time listening to the water as we talked with other visitors by the fire.

"Always enjoyable."

cmstrom, north carolina 26/09/2016

Great hotel, love staying here and seeing the river. So peaceful sitting on the deck in the rocking chairs and watching the birds and watching the people going down the river in rafts and kayaks. Breakfast is very good for a continental breakfast. Rooms are nice and the staff is always great.

"Beautiful views"

Gerald B, myrtle beach, United States 24/09/2016

Staff are pleasant and helpful. Rooms are nice and spacious. Bed was very uncomfortable and the sheets were stained.. Breakfast was just mediocre. View of Creekside was excellent. Staff was very helpful and polite.

"Love the Riverside Location"

LikeToTravel003, Hickory, North Carolina 24/09/2016

We booked this hotel because of the relaxing and fun River Views right off of our balcony. What a pleasant surprise to arrive and find this very tastefully renovated hidden jewel. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Everyone on staff provided such excellent customer service, that it was actually noticeable how pleasant and accommodating they all were. We will definitely be back!

"Beautiful View"

Kelly S, dillsboro, United States 20/09/2016

there was a fantastic view of the river on the back side of the hotel, you can even select a riverfront view so there are many options. It is isolated as well so you are not smack dap in the middle of a city so it was peaceful.

"My favorite place to relax"

Molly Jean S, Greenville, United States 19/09/2016

You won't find a better place to relax and enjoy the beautiful riverfront setting. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evening, toasting marshmallows and making s'mores. It's only a short drive to some great hiking and waterfall walks.

"Excellent get away in the mountains"

Loretta V, Stony Point, United States 19/09/2016

The Best Western Plus River Escape Inn and Suites was a pleasant surprise find in the mountains. We had wanted to stay in a B&B for my birthday but everything was booked. We had a very bad experience once years ago at a Best Western in Niagara Falls and had never tried one again until now and I am very glad we did. We took a big chance this time and the hotel was lovely, quiet and on a beautiful location on the river. We only had some problems with the water pressure going up and down. Other than that, the room was big and clean and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was included and very nice as well. The balcony overlooking the river from our room was a wonderful experience. We would definitely return!

"Home Away from Home"

Brenda L, raleigh, United States 19/09/2016

Love this hotel - Riverside is where I love to sit - been staying here for 10 years. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. No pets allowed - but there are ducks on the river to look at. Lovely outside seating by the river. Indoor pool which did not seem to be heated. Hot tub was very hot but very little bubbles.

"Nice Spot....Poorly Managed...Double Charged!"

User 13/09/2016

This Hotel sits nicely on the Tuckaseegee River in a nice quiet spot. I have stayed here often on Fishing Trips. The View is Great and the Wifi is Spotty. The Hotel has been undergoing steady changes....a remodel and new Management policies. Unfortunately, the trend has been noticeably downwards here. I have experienced Poor trips over the last year....with the Hotel constantly bungling my Reservations. On my last trip in August.....despite a Prepaid Reservation.....and a Call to confirm.....I arrived to No Room. When I told them that I KNOW Hotels hold back a couple of rooms to sell at Higher Rates....they magically produced a room.....but then insisted I pay again (Much Higher Price) spite of my showing them that I had ALREADY paid. The Front Desk Clerk told me there was little she could do about it (Double Charge).....but that it would be fixed as soon as a Manager came in! Over a Four Day Stay....No Manager came in or was available?....and the Owner proved Elusive as well. When I tried to leave a Voicemail....I was told "His Voicemail doesn't really work"....A VERY Bad Sign! I checked out under protest. tried to contact the Hotel on my behalf at least (5) times. I called MANY times......and was told "We're not able to refund money"??? So....I have been forced to Dispute the Double Charges. This is Unacceptable for Any Hotel. The Staff was Nice and Polite.....but Incapable of actual Help. My advice if you stay here....NEVER Prepay ....Only at the Front Desk, once you have your Room....and Happy Travels!

"Fantastic stay"

Tarac1116, Huntsville, Alabama 12/09/2016

I booked a river view room and got a first floor room upon checking in. I don't normally care for first level rooms, but I loved it this time. The double doors opened onto a patio that was then easily assessable to the common patio areas. The river view was great, rooms were clean and service was fantastic. It is also located really close to plenty of good restaurants and breweries. Can't recommend it enough!

"Right time, place."

biffburley, Cincinnati, Ohio 10/09/2016

We ran out of daylight and weather so we decided to "camp" out at the Dillsboro Best Western. We were not disappointed from check-in cookies to the check-out lunch bag to go. We got our money's worth alone from the pool and breakfast next morning and the creekside views and deck were awesome. The rooms were perfect, no complaints. We'd go hear again to take advantage of the great location and very kind people running the place whether it as at the front desk or breakfast room.

"Great place to stay very private location"

Jeremiah H, north carolina, United States 09/09/2016

This was a very nice place with a great room on the river . I was impressed with the service and value . It is by far a better deal for your money than any of the other Hotels in the area I would stay here again for sure .

"Lovely View, Clean Hotel, and Friendly Staff"

Mollyloblolly, Louisville 07/09/2016

We stayed two nights this past weekend. While the hotel was full, it did not feel crowded. We had a corner room on second floor with a river view. The balcony overlooked the river and was beautiful and relaxing. The lobby of the hotel is clean and nicely decorated and the back deck has a gorgeous view of river. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The only very minor detail I would have liked is more than one hook to hang towels. There is plenty of parking. The free breakfast was fine. Just a tip, there is nothing within walking distance but the town is not far. The pool and fitness center were clean. Overall a very nice hotel in a beautiful location.

"Great Place to stay"

plowe1, Greater Cincinnati 01/09/2016

This BW has just been remodeled. It has a wonderful sitting area in the back over looking the water with rocking chairs. I was sitting out there one afternoon when I was visiting the area and a eagle flew right down in front of me. Breakfast is good it has a fair to good selection of offerings. The staff is pleasant. All in all a great place to stay.

"Great little hotel"

nctraveller58, North Carolina 28/08/2016

We stayed here for two nights over a weekend. We booked the last available room, which gave us the room that opened directly onto the lobby and breakfast area of the hotel. I've never seen a room do that before, but ours did. However, even being located across from the ice machine room, and in that location, the room was extremely quiet. The hotel is immaculate; our room was spacious and comfortable with a queen bed, a fold out sofa, and a table with two chairs, as well as a dresser with the TV on it, and a mini-fridge and microwave. The deck area of the hotel is wonderful with rocking chairs overlooking the river. We spent an hour sipping our drinks, talking with fellow travelers, and watching a fly fisherman in the river. There is a large indoor pool, and hot tub. The breakfast included a pancake machine, as well as a waffle maker, oatmeal, cereal, pre-cooked omelettes, bagels, biscuits, etc. The staff people were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is off the beaten path, but is a great location for touring the area. We will stay here again.

"One of the BEST!"

cnewtonnktown, Charlotte, North Carolina 22/08/2016

We just came home from our two night stay at the Best Western River Escape and it was wonderful! The staff is friendly and helpful. We didn't have any issues with our room, staff, check-in, check-out, etc..... Cookies in the evenings (Sun-TH) There is a lot of variety for breakfast and though it's not a restaurant, the breakfast is impressive. Omelets, pancakes, waffles, yogurts, fruits, juices, gravy biscuits....WOW! The outside seating along the river is wonderful. Plenty of tables and rocking chairs. We got our food to go one evening and had dinner outside by the river. Our 5 yr. old. loved it!

"Dream room! "

User 21/08/2016

My husband and I had been on a weeklong trip from Florida to Niagara Falls.. We stayed in a lot of hotels as you can imagine.. He called and booked this room for our last night before we made it home. Oh me... We were shocked at the beauty of this place.. Not only did we have a balcony, but these were the most comfortable beds of our trip.. Totally made us wish we had just one more night! We will visit again!

"Stay in Dillsboro"

User 21/08/2016

Excellent hotel, remote and on a beautiful river. Excellent staff and very clean property and rooms. Very close to an excellent Greek / Italian restaurant.Very convenient to GSM Railroad in Bryson City.

"Wonderful 2 day stay"

HappyDonna, Ellijay, Georgia 20/08/2016

Stayed 2 days here and everything was perfect. Clean rooms, wonderful views, great breakfast and outstanding staff. Our check in hostess Aaliyah set the tone reflecting an inn that truly cares for their guest. She and all staff were very warm and welcoming. This was a perfect stay for visits to Bryson City, Fontana Lake, Cherokee and Dillsboro. The patio in our room overlooking the river was a perfect setting to rest after a day of visiting all the sites and of course enjoy a relaxing cocktail. Thanks to all for a most enjoyable stay and we will be back.

"Our stays at Best Western are always pleasant"

us22013, Bradenton, Florida 18/08/2016

Staying at Best Western is always a pleasant experience. The rooms are always clean and comfortable, the towels soft, the hot breakfast good and the employees pleasant. At Dillsboro, NC, the Tuckaseigee River flows just behind the breakfast room, adding to the pleasantness.

"Breakfast Was First Class"

Duane S, Fort Myers, Florida 17/08/2016

Really enjoyed our stay. The beds were clean and comfortable, the shower was the right pressure and the breakfast was hot with a good variety of items. Probably one of the best breakfasts out there. The staff was helpful and friendly everyday we were there.

"Love the VIEWS from this Property"

MayberryTourism, Mount Airy, NC 10/08/2016

Staff at front desk was great, breakfast was great, views from hotel were also wonderful. We went on the Tuckasagee River and had a great time as well. This is the 2nd time we have been to this property and it had been updated and we would come back again as well.

"Right on the River!!!!"

User 09/08/2016

Beautiful riverfront views but make sure you ASK for riverfront or you'll be looking at the parking lot - location is otherwise a bit remote - have to drive to wherever your heart sends you. Nothing within walking distance. The hotel itself is well maintained, friendly staff, good breakfast fare in the AM. Common amenities avail... indoor pool, gym, hot tub, outdoor fire pits, picnic area and grills available for guests - all facing river... but if you are traveling to be near Cherokee Nation (casinos, hiking, waterfalls, white water rafting), probably best to go north another 20 minutes or so. Old Town Dillsboro has some cute little touristy shops, crafts, sweets, etc.

"very nice hotel"

User 09/08/2016

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay. This hotel is in the middle of many activities. Had a great time shopping at the shops in Dillsboro. Loved the front staff, they were very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and shopping.

"Excellent Staff & Sourounding"

Siev I, coral springs, United States 09/08/2016

We drove 1100 miles at arrived tired and hoping the place would be nice. We were pleasantly surprised! The staff that we encountered on the evening shift was extremely friendly and professional and welcomed us. And the morning shift was also extremely friendly and helpful. So was the cleaning lady when I asked for an extra pen, she was extremely friendly too! Great stay will do it again!

"NC trip"

User 09/08/2016

Very nice hotel in a great location. Helpful and friendly staff. We would definitely stay there again. As usual, the free breakfast was far from acceptable. Dried out eggs and whimpy bacon with air bread for toast. Other than that, it was a good stay.

"Great setting and above average hotel"

James F, Mount Pleasant, United States 08/08/2016

Hotel is located in a beautiful setting on a mountain river. Very quiet, clean, and fast Internet. Hotel is close to great restaurants and has a nice breakfast itself. Very nice sunrises and sunsets from hotel side facing river.

"Love looking at the river!"

JeyJ52, Oxford, Ohio 08/08/2016

We were delighted with our suite overlooking the Tuckaseigee River. We stayed near the end of a 10-?day ?drive through western North Carolina, and it was a perfect way to end a lovely trip. The suite's extra room and the balcony could have used more comfortable seating, and the breakfast room needed more attention. (I watched people going for seconds and thirds scoop up the biscuits and gravy before I even had a taste!) But my husband and I had the beautiful view, which more than made up for any small problems.

"Did I say CLEAN?? Outstanding Experience"

Melissa B, Greer, United States 04/08/2016

The staff at this hotel obviously takes great pride in the look, feel and cleanliness of the property and it shows! Outdoorsy experience with the luxuries of a hotel. Indoor pool, firepits, deck over the river were great!

Christopher B, Salisbury, United States 04/08/2016

It was a great stay, wonderful location. River view room was well worth it. Courteous staff, extremely friendly. I would certainly recommend to anyone traveling in the area. I would stay again in a heartbeat.

"Great place"

Keith S, Cumming, GA 04/08/2016

We had my wife's family reunion here and loved our stay. The rooms were nice and clean and we had a king suite which worked great so we could put our baby's pack n play on the far side of the room to keep from disturbing him. The deck overlooking the river was enjoyable in the evenings. And the staff was top notch. The manager, Season, even comped my father-in-law the meeting room we used to gather in. We would stay here again without a doubt.

Billy D, McMinnville, United States 02/08/2016

This hotel was away from traffic, very quiet, on the river. Rooms were great. Beds were comfortable. We didn't have any problems & would definitely stay again if in the area. The front desk people are very knowledgeable about the area & are very friendly.

"Western NC vacation"

Dwayne Bev H, Bridgeton, NJ, United States 01/08/2016

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights. It was clean, and we had a wonderful view of the river. We would definitely recommend an upgrade for the river view. It was well worth it. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The pool was very nice and very clean. The complimentary breakfast was one of the best we have ever had at a hotel. The surrounding area of Dillsboro & Sylva were lovely quaint towns. We will definitely go back!

"Great visit!"

Misty L, Charlotte, United States 01/08/2016

Lovely views of the river. Super convenient, quiet alternative when visiting the Cherokee Casino. About a 10 min drive MAX. Very clean and convenient to the adorable towns Sylva and Dillsboro, which have great breweries and restaurants!

"Nice hotel "

SeanEmb, Reigate, United Kingdom 30/07/2016

Booked a room with river view, this is great. Nice room with good facilities. We used the laundry room and drank free coffee on the balcony just watching the river. Both of us had a very good night's sleep. The breakfast area has a pancake machine!! Which lots of people used. We only stayed 1 night as we were travelling but wish it could have been longer.

"2nd Stay but won't be the last!"

About 2 months ago my husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights. It was such a great experience, we decided to spend a whole week here for vacation. The view is stunning and the staff is fantastic. Everyone we encountered was pleasant and helpful. This is a great place to stay and take day trips in different directions. My only suggestion would be to hire a shredding company instead of burning your paperwork in the fire pit!

"Wonderful Views"

User 28/07/2016

We stayed here for three nights and hated to go home! The front desk was very helpful and friendly at check in. The rooms were well laid out, spacious, clean and affordable. The extra cost for a river view room was worth the cost by far. We enjoyed our balcony and watching the river and those on the river. Our kids enjoyed the pool and breakfast which were both high quality. Finally, the boardwalk area with rocking chairs was a great selling point. I hope we can swing by for another trip soon!

"Beautiful view, nice rooms, good breakfast"

Lori2149, Michigan 26/07/2016

Travelling with children from Raleigh to Atlanta we decided to stop half way and found this little gem. The view was spectacular overlooking the river. We were even able to eat our breakfast outside. The kids enjoyed the pool. The free cookies were a nice plus at check-in. Our room was clean and beds were confortable. The only reason I didnt give it a five-star was because they dont ban smoking on the patio overlooking the river. That part just ruins things when you are trying to enjoy the scenery and fresh air, though this would not discourage me from staying again, just a friendly suggestion.

"Beautiful view, very nice staff, very clean"

efranks218, Indianapolis, Indiana 25/07/2016

This hotel is gorgeous. They renovated it a year ago and the entire thing is very nice and clean. The Tuckasegee river out back is gorgeous. We had breakfast while watching a fly fisherman. The rafting trips (that we were there for) go right by the hotel. People on the Tuckasegee are so friendly. The breakfast is great - waffles, pancakes, fruit, cereal, biscuits and gravy, coffee, etc, etc. The indoor pool and hot tub are great. The pool room is very warm. The rooms are very comfortable. Ours had a small fridge and a very small safe in the closet. The bedding and linens are nice. We were on the non-view side. The view side rooms have a small balcony overlooking the river. Not sure how much they would be, but the non view was a bit pricey ($180 for a Saturday night). I wish they had more seat and table outside. They have comfy rocking chairs to enjoy the view from as well. The staff was so friendly and wonderful. There is a train on the second floor, open to the balcony. They turned it on for our kids multiple time. It has a model of downtown Dillsboro. Hillsboro is absolutely adorable. The town closes up early based on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad schedule. The BBQ place in town is fantastic. Stay at this hotel. You will not be disappointed.

"Outstanding Service"

James K, San Antonio, United States 25/07/2016

All of the Hotel staff were friendly and helpful at this hotel, but one individual stood out from the rest - her name is 'Season'. Very good 'energy' coming from this staff - well run. The only thing I would change is I would prefer to have fresh eggs, and I suspect that the scrambled and omelets we had were powdered or processed eggs.

"Relaxing River Views"

RobbieL123, South Carolina, United States 23/07/2016

Very nice place with river views. Watch the waterfowl swim and listen to the wonderful sound of the river from your balcony. This hotel has been updated. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. The hotel is very quiet and there is a good, free breakfast. You are right in the midst of the Smokies, close to Cherokee and you can enjoy the small towns that are close by. Great place to stay in this area.

"Great Hotel in a Small Town"

Corrine G, Durham, United States 22/07/2016

My work travel takes me to Dillsboro, NC every few years and I always stay here. I especially love the view of the Tuckasegee River from the back terrace while enjoying my breakfast - this sets it apart from other lodging choices in the area for me. The staff are especially attentive and the place has recently been remolded too. I am generally a B&B person, and while I stay in hotels for work travel, every time I leave this place, I vow to come back and stay again for a leisure visit.

"Anniversary Weekend"

valleygolf55, Belton, South Carolina 21/07/2016

We stayed here to get away for a few days. This hotel is on the river, and we got a room on that side. We sat on our balcony and soaked in the wonderful scenery complete with kayakers, tubers, and fly fishermen and women. For those that aren't staying directly on the river, there is a large deck overlooking the river complete with rocking chairs, tables, chairs, and umbrellas. The breakfast was really good, and the staff was exceptional! We will stay here again. There were two things that were negative about our stay: 1) the internet was not adequate to do anything, and 3) we got here at 4:00 (check in time is 3:00) and our room was not ready. We waited on the deck overlooking the river while our room was readied for us.... Inconvenient, but what a nice place to wait!

"Hotel on the river's edge"

P N, Phoenix 21/07/2016

We had stayed here years ago when the hotel first opened and were a little apprehensive about whether the hotel was up to date. No worries - rooms were very spacious, the river view was fantastic. Good location, on the way to Cherokee or the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is worth the extra for the river view.

"Nice Place - Great Staff"

User 21/07/2016

I was very pleased with this hotel. Only feedback is that most of the fitness equipment was broken so I couldn't exercise during my stay. The location is great. On the river with incredible views. It was one of the most relaxing vacations we have had. Staff is very nice and helpful. They make it a great place.

"Reliable and Centrally Located"

sharon4665, Tallahassee, Florida 16/07/2016

We have stayed here over twenty times in the last fifteen years. The hotel is on the banks of the Tuckasegee River in quaint Dillsboro, NC. Small, always clean, recently updated, with friendly staff. In hotel complimentary breakfast is convenient before beginning an outdoor, mountain day.

"We Love this Beautiful Hotel and Location!"

Judy R, High Point, NC, United States 13/07/2016

We have stayed at this Best Western PLUS River Escape Inn and Suites in the beautiful mountain town of Dillsboro, NC several times, and we absolutely love it!! We always request a Riverside Room because it overlooks a beautiful, relaxing mountain river, where you can watch people tubing and canoeing. The complimentary breakfast is always fresh and delicious, and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. We highly recommend this hotel!.

Jerryd478, Douglasville 11/07/2016

Very nice place to stay. We were last minute with finding a hotel and had just had a bad experience some where else. Checked in Best Western and were relieved to find a very good hotel room. Best Western in Dillsboro, Nc.

"The view is worth it!"

Nina E, Acworth, Georgia, United States 09/07/2016

The hotel is right on the river and you can eat breakfast outside. The staff is friendly and helpful. Get a balcony side room, you won't regret it. The breakfast is pretty standard. The indoor pool area also has a private patio with a grill.

"wondeful stay"

Mike D, Oak Ridge, United States 09/07/2016

Great property and wonderful stay. Try and stay on backside, river view. You will enjoy this experience, Great hiking trails are nearby, Very clean and friendly staff. Try "Coaches" restaurant for a great steak.

"River View Rooms are the Best"

Patsy R, Raleigh, United States 06/07/2016

If you stay at this hotel, reserve a room with a river view. It's extremely relaxing. The location is great if you're participating in one of the many outdoor recreational activities near by. If you're there on a Sunday, make sure you eat dinner before going to the hotel for the night. Nothing is open but the Huddle House and I don't recommend it.

"Beautiful Mountain View & Peaceful"

Donna G, Edison, New Jersey 05/07/2016

Were only at this location one evening, wish it was more. A good Value, beautiful River views and patio with rockers and table/chairs overlooking river. Request a river view room. In room amenities are good, larger size fridge, microwave. Indoor pool with hot tub a plus. Close to lots of activities and the Smokey Mountains. Didn't use, but outdoor grill available. Breakfast was included. Not gourmet, but quick and convenient.

"Great Stay"

User 27/06/2016

What a nice stay! We had a river view room with a hot tub. Room was fantastic, spacious, and very clean. Bed was comfortable, coulda stood another pillow but I slept well. Hot tub was nice and clean. Breakfast is extremely ordinary. Pretty good but boring. Typical hotel breakfast these days. Definitely will stay again and I recommend this place. Jackson at the front desk merits special mention. He was helpful, friendly, and very inviting!

"Bad start, but ended great!"

User 26/06/2016

My visit was for a state conference. As a state employee, the hotel was booked with the school's credit card. At 7:30pm that night, while I was still 1.5 hrs away, I was informed that they would not honor the school's card, unless I had it on me. When I arrived, they were telling 4 other teacher's the same thing. In the end, I had to pay for the hotel with my on card. (Thank God, they took that, and did not cancel my reservation, as they had originally threatened to do!) To make matters worse, I had asked for a 2nd or 3rd floor reservation, since I was traveling alone, and they ended up booking me on the 1st floor, by the back door! (Now, these rooms had double doors with windows that extended the entire width of the room, because of the beautiful view of the scenic running river behind the hotel... Did I mention that I am female and I was traveling alone?) The room had a beer can and some beef jerky wrappers in the trash can beside the table, closest to the door. Now, that was the "bad start". The service I received after that was great! The view was fantastic! The continental breakfast had things for everyone; I can state this, because I cannot eat sugar, and most places only have muffins or doughnuts that I cannot eat. In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed the visit, which is why I am still giving it 4 stars, despite the awful first night.

bwriverescape, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS River Escape Inn & Suites, responded to this review
Thank you for the review. I'm sorry to hear it wasn't a pleasant stay from start to finish but very happy we were able to turn around the experience while you were with us!

"Great view"

Elizabeth C, Denver, United States 24/06/2016

We love to sit out on our room's balcony and watch the river and listen to the sound of the rapids. This is a pleasure year round. We have been here every season and just love it. Found some great restaurants in Sylva.

bwriverescape, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS River Escape Inn & Suites, responded to this review
Thank you for the review, Elizabeth! Our favorite spot is sitting on the river listening to the rapids passing by.

"Peaceful surroundings"

vp_mama, McHenry, Illinois 24/06/2016

The backyard of the hotel is very peaceful. Even if you don't book the room with the view there are nice spots by the river to enjoy the view. The rooms are average but clean. The staff was very attentive. Few good restaurants nearby. I would recommend and would stay again.

bwriverescape, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS River Escape Inn & Suites, responded to this review
We appreciate you sharing your experience with other travelers! We are tucked down by the river, away from the hustle and bustle of everything. A peaceful and relaxing stay is exactly what we strive for!

"Never Mind Reservations"

DBackburn, Welcome, North Carolina 23/06/2016

Visited the area June 17 - 19 and made my reservations on April 19. Reserved double queen accessible room on the river front. What we ended up with was a room on the non river front side. Also because they don't have tub accessible rooms at this hotel we had to go with a regular room, but even if we had gone with the accessible room it would not have been on the river front. Was told that we could have had a river front room the 1st night but would have to change rooms the next night to a non river front room because someone had made a reservation that week for river front room for our 2nd night! Why not let us stay both nights in the river front room since we had reservations for 2 months and tell the person that just made their reservation no river front rooms was available. Hotel was dirty in the halls and the bathroom shower bar was falling down and the towel hook was falling down too! Have stayed here before, but probably won't stay there again.

bwriverescape, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS River Escape Inn & Suites, responded to this review
I'm sorry to hear that you had issues. We do our best to accommodate our guests. Unfortunately our accessible rooms are not riverside. Those are booked as non-riverside rooms. We cannot boot someone else from their reservations who have also booked well in advance so you could stay riverside. We're sorry you had any issues. Our riverside rooms of course are the first to sell and very popular.

Brandy H, Covington 20/06/2016

This hotel is very clean, staff is friendly. Great experience! The river side views are very nice. Would stay here again for certain. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Dillsboro Sylva, NC area.

"Awesome Hotel but Make Sure Fire Alarm System is Working"

Kristina M, Raleigh, NC, United States 18/06/2016

All staff were very courteous and responsive, hotel is beautiful and a great deal for the cost, & a terrific location. My fire alarm went off late at night with no apparent cause or some malfunction and did not alert the front desk and was not connected to any other system in the hotel. I would expect that they would look into it and fix that ASAP.

"Great hotel"

O1471BTdianeb, Hope Valley 14/06/2016

Easy location, great river view! Clean and comfortable hotel, pool and patio. I stay at this location when visiting relatives in the area. The balcony rooms overlooking the river are a great option! The complimentary breakfast has everything you would expect, waffles, toast options, cereal, yogurt, eggs, bacon, etc. Will be back again.

lorchp, Woodstock, ga 12/06/2016

This Hotel along the river was so very peaceful. I had a very bad day and when I got to the hotel staff was wonderful. Very Accommodating. Cookies where there for a treat!! I unloaded my luggage and went out to the porch that looked out over the river--which had rocking chairs. I was able to sit out there and just unwind enjoying the tranquility of the river and hotel.

"pleasant and relaxing"

Anthony J, Staffordshire, United Kingdom 09/06/2016

This is a pleasant and relaxing hotel situated on the river just off the main highway, The staff are very professional. The Breakfast is excellent plentiful choice of dishes well presented and well stocked. The hotel is quiet and peaceful and the balcony over looking the river is a must. The beds are comfortable.

"Best Place to Stay in Dillsboro."

Daniel A, Marietta, United States 08/06/2016

Have stayed here many times. It has received an update and it is fabulous. The staff is very courteous and accommodating. We only spent one night but may come back for another weekend just to spend more time around the mountains.

"Nicest Best Western I have Stayed in"

Stephanie B, North Georgia 05/06/2016

I try to stay at Best Westerns to earn frequent stay points, so I searched for any near Cherokee and lucked into this one in Dillsboro. The recent remodeling includes carpet, premium tile, paint, and furnishings. The breakfast area includes a huge outdoor deck over the river. The indoor pool, hot tub, and fire pit picnic areas are beautiful too. Quiet and relaxing retreat

"Great hotel with river view"

R0bertp558, Atlanta, Georgia 04/06/2016

Easilty the best 3 star style hotel I have ever stayed at. Recently renovated and looks new inside and out. River views are awesome and completely relaxing. Includes free breakfast and hot coffee always ready. The indoor pool and whirlpool are in excellent condition. A great stay.

"Great stay at River Escape"

User 04/06/2016

Get a room overlooking the river, nice view and very peaceful. We spent 3 nights there and had a great time. Breakfast was decent and the coffee was good. The room was very clean and your typical two queen bed layout. Room had a fridge. micro and coffee pot (one weak cup at a time, much better downstairs in the breakfast area).

"Never want to leave!!!"

Dana M, Enterprise, Alabama 01/06/2016

Every year, before Memorial Day, we stay at this Best Western. It is the best place to de-stress and get away from the world. Just to sit on the balcony, watch the river flow past, hear the birds singing and watch ducks and geese waddle past. Hotel renovated and breakfast area is awesome. Very friendly and helpful staff. Our very "favorite" place to stay for relaxation, peace and quiet.

"Your Mountain Vacation Experience Begins Here"

mountainviewdigital, Melbourne, Florida 31/05/2016

We have had the pleasure of including the Best Western PLUS River Escape Inn & Suites in our travel plans each year we visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Vick Patel and his exceptional team take great care of their guests and continues to add value added features to the property each year. This property recently added a Business Center area, a Retail area near the front desk to purchase Drinks and Snacks, updated their Lobby and expanded their outdoor walkway complete with several Fire Pits. Their rooms have been upgrades to modern amenities and have a mini-fridge in the rooms. I highly recommend a balcony room which has several chairs to enjoy the Rafters and Fly Fishing activity on the Tuckaseegee River. After a long day of adventuring out, it is always refreshing to hear the sounds of the river while reflecting on the day. These are private balcony rooms with a great view! If you choose to stay in a parking lot view room, you always have the option of visiting the outdoor deck at the back of the properly to pull up a chair and enjoy the river. For Rail Enthusiasts, The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Yard and Shop in Dillsboro is right next to the entrance to the hotel. The Railroad's Tuckaseegee River Excursion Train will pass right by the front of the hotel during it's voyage which is a great photo opportunity. This property is just a few minutes away from Downtown Dillsboro with a great selection of shops and restaurants and right off the 23/74 Highway. If you have plans to visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Cherokee or Bryson City, all of these destinations are close by and easy to get to. For a hot breakfast, easy to access quiet hotel, riverfront views and exceptional service, there is no other place to look.

"The peaceful beauty of Western North carolina"

Tim L, Jefferson, GA, United States 31/05/2016

This is our favorite Best Western and one of our top two favorite motels overall, with this being our 3rd visit. This was our first visit since renovation has been completed and it is beautiful, but from our first stay during their remodeling we have thoroughly enjoyed this motel. We have always had a river-view room as that adds to the peacefulness and enjoyment of the stay. Normally I wouldn't pay the premium price for a holiday stay (in this case, Memorial day weekend) as I did this time, but the River Escape is well worth it! Their complimentary breakfast has always been inviting and delicious and they have enough caring staff to treat the guests like favored children coming home! NOTE : Unlike the trend I have noticed among the BW brand, this motel does NOT serve machine dispensed (glorified instant) coffee, but flavorful fresh brewed.

"up set over the room with out walk in shower"

Albert G, charlotte, United States 30/05/2016

The hotel was very excellent but the clerk Susan mislead me the room, because I did get the room with walk in shower and my wife had very hard time getting her foots over the tub because of the problems she have with her foots.

"1st class al the way except the hot breakfast"

Donna M, Dawsonville, Georgia 30/05/2016

I highly recommend this location. Rooms are wonderful, service is great, and location perfect. The river view rooms are beautiful. This hotel is located at the heart of the Smokey Mountains. You can access Asheville, Bryson City, Dillsboro, and Cherokee within 15 to 20 minutes. Plan on getting breakfast at a different location because the hot breakfast is all powder.

"Great place to stay"

Cynthia M, Oak Island, United States 29/05/2016

Everything about my stay was fantastic...would not stay anywhere else but this location.Rooms very comfortable and staff friendly. Had a river front room and was such a relaxing stay.Plenty of outdoor seating areas to relax by the river.

"Nice hotel in a quiet area"

nkgrl, Pittsburgh, PA 27/05/2016

We stayed in this hotel on a recent trip to visit family in the area. The hotel is standard, looks recently renovated and has a free breakfast. All were great for this family of four. The breakfast had standard fare - cereal, toast, eggs, waffles and pancakes, yogurt and coffee. On nice days, you can even sit out on the deck and enjoy your breakfast alongside the river. My kids enjoyed the small indoor pool. The location was quiet, just set back far enough from the main road, but easily accessible to the highway. Dillsboro is just on the other side of the highway, and Sylva is just past there. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return again.

"Awesome Experience"

Jeffery S, Lexington, United States 17/05/2016

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are gorgeous. wonderful view of the River if you had the balcony. Full Breakfast and you can eat outside overlooking the river. The hotel is beautiful and spacious. Will definitely stay here next time I'm in the area.

"River view"

User 13/05/2016

This Best Western has a great view of the river; leave your window open so you can hear rushing by! Clean, friendly, decent breakfast and recently updated bathrooms. We were granted an extended check out time since our daughter's graduation was later in the afternoon.

"Nice hotel, good location, nice breakfast"

Sharon K, Kerkira 12/05/2016

Nice hotel. Great river views. Nice breakfast. Pretty pricey for one night at over $200.00. Family was in to celebrate daughter's graduation from PT school and the Best Western was the closet to our daughter's residence. So it was very convenient but due to it being graduation weekend the price of the room was high. Overall, it was a great weekend and convenient so I guess the price of the room was worth it.

"Best Place to Stay in Western NC"

James B, Lexington, United States 10/05/2016

My wife and I have been staying at the Best Western River Escape in Dillsboro about twice a year for over 10 years. It is our favorite place in the mountains offering quality service and an outstanding view of the Tuckaseegee river. There are a number of hotels in the area but this is the BEST!

"River Restorative"

Brown_Family_11, Greensboro, North Carolina 08/05/2016

Mountain hideaways can be a funny thing: One second you're on a busy road, or next to something industrial ... then suddenly, you've come upon a little piece of <>! That's the River Escape Inn, sidled up to a lovely stretch of the Tuckaseegee River. We've stayed here many times while we had a student down the road at Western Carolina University. The motel is a nice Best Western, updated pretty recently. Breakfast included. Indoor pool and spa. Friendly staff. The reason to be here though is the riverfront. A large deck with rocking chairs puts you right beside the riffling water. Mornings and late afternoons are prime for watching ducks, geese, heron and other birds plying the pools for fish. Stay on the river side, leave the screen window open and fall asleep to the rush of the river. Nice places to sit, wade and fish along the banks, too.

"Awesome Stay!"

lisa h, Atlanta, Georgia 08/05/2016

I am usually not a Best Western fan, but our recent trip was absolutely outstanding. The front desk clerks were wonderful and absolutely accommodating with an easy check-in after 10pm after a drive from Georgia, despite the hotel being close to sold out. The morning breakfast was pretty good and we ate outside on the deck overlooking the river. My little 5 year old loved the view. The chocolate candy was a hit. We had friends staying at the local Holiday Inn shocked at how nice this property is and we really look forward to coming back.

"Great place. Just next to river."

Skypilot46, Bristol UK 08/05/2016

Located just off main road next to the river. Very quite place with friendly staff. Ideal location for great smoky trip. We stayed for two nights. Breakfast was plentiful and as you would expect. Very clean rooms and nice balcony over looking river. Dillsboro is nice but not much going on.

"Enjoyable visit"

W8156QOdonnam, Holly Springs, North Carolina 08/05/2016

It was graduation weekend and everyplace was booked full. We got lucky to find a room at the Best Western after a cancellation. It cost a little more than we wanted to spend, but it was one of the busiest weekends of the year and I guess it was to be expected. We were pleasantly surprised at how lovely the hotel is. The view of the river is AMAZING. The breakfast staff handled the full house with ease. Franklin not only booked our reservation but greeted us with a smile at check in. Overall, a great experience.

"Wonderful hotel nice ?elcome"

User 08/05/2016

This is a lovely clean and relaxing stop over hotel we had a great stay over. The hotel does not have a restaurant but recommended an excellent eating place only minutes away which was great. Lovely views from the terrace and we really loved the location. Excellent breakfast provided. Would highly recommend it. We are non smokers and found that smokers were well away from the entrances Which meant we never were impacted by it.

"smoking not allowed"

Brenda H, snow camp, United States 06/05/2016

like the location... loved to hear the sound of the river. Allowing smoking on the balcony is not a good idea. Will not stay there again unless I can make sure that the room below is not going to smoke. When door was open it filled our room with smoke.

"Rexlaxing on the River"

Best Western Plus in Dillsboro, NC is an outstanding Hotel. The River was so beautiful and the ducks were lovely. The suite was outstanding. Everything was perfect and enjoyable. The Breakfast area was outstanding. Loved the pancakes and waffles machines. Breakfast was outstanding, eggs, biscuits, and gravy, sausage, bacon, grits, oatmeal, all kind of cereals, orange juice, coffee, tea, milk. Just about everything anyone could ask for. A+ I highly Recommend Best Western Plus at Dillsboro, NC. Go enjoy and you will return to this lovely place and the lovely people who work there.

"Serene setting"

User 03/05/2016

We only stayed one night but had a very pleasant stay. The room was recently updated and very comfortable. The river front balcony with the beautiful view was an added plus and very peaceful. Dillsboro and Sylva are very quaint and beautiful towns with good restaurants and shopping. If you love the mountains, you will enjoy this area of North Carolina.

"Great Hotel"

ratchel12345, Boutte, Louisiana 30/04/2016

The hotel was inexpensive, had a great free breakfast, had great views of the river, and a nice indoor pool. The hot tub was out of order, but other than that no complaints. I'll be staying here again in the future!

"Remodeled nicely but lacking"

Ernest W, Jackson, United States 28/04/2016

This remodeled motel was very comfortable and is a favorite of ours. My wife was unable to shower because of lack of safety bars. Breakfast bar was disappointing in that food ran out and no one seemed to be available to replenish food. We still like this motel but was disappointed at lack of attention to breakfast area and lack of safety bar in bath. I guess I should have asked for a handicap room but lack of safety bar could cause anyone to slip and hurt themselves.

"Terrific in every way!"

605bettys, Dexter, Missouri 27/04/2016

As a grandma travelling alone with three young children, I really appreciated the attentiveness of the hotel staff. The young man at the front desk was terrific and offered a room close to the pool for the kids. Staff were very pleasant. The entire facility was spotless and sparkling clean. My 10 year old even made comments about how nice the hotel was. We arrived about 3:30 p.m. and the kids headed straight to the pool. We even noticed other guests cooking out on grills in the hotel patio area. There was a fire pit, although we didn't use it. Hotel is right on the river. I loved the relaxed and peaceful location. The kids loved the pool, river, ducks and the family of geese with five babies. The hot breakfast was good. I think everyone woke up at the same time so there was a crowd and we had to wait for more food to be prepared. But it was excellent. There is a deck with patio tables and rocking chairs overlooking the river - right outside the breakfast area, so you can take you food outside if you like. I enjoyed sitting out there with a cup of coffee early in the morning while the kids were still asleep. I wish we could have stayed longer. I cannot say enough good things about the hotel and the staff.

This hotel is amazing. The view from the river front room is beautiful. They have various breakfast selections to please everyone. The hotel is extremely clean. The staff is beyond friendly and personable. Have stayed at this hotel 3 times in the past 12 years and has always been a positive experience.

"Great little gem in the mountains"

Kim D, Baton rouge 14/04/2016

This Best Western is newly renovated and really nice. We stayed in a suite overlooking the river, which was beautiful! The room, view, amenities, and staff couldn't have been better. We would highly recommend.

"Very pleasant with one hitch"

Cynthia L, Elizabethtown, Kenya 14/04/2016

Great stay in great location. Surprised with a hot tub in room. Prepaid through .com site, and extended our stay. That's when we encountered the hitch which became very frustrating and involved several conversations with front desk.

"Very good place"

James H, Salisbury, North Carolina 13/04/2016

Very nice place for overnight stay. Request a room on the river side of inn. The balconies outside room, overlooking river, are a special treat. Nice indoor pool. Good breakfast. Excellent staff. This was our second stay at this property and found it to be an excellent value both times. Rooms are as nice as Grove Park Inn in Asheville, but much more economical.

"quaint mountain retreat"

Stumbled upon this Best Western and what a place!!It had been recently renovated and what a great job they did.The lobby is is chic for a best western and loved the piped in music. The drawing card for this location is the priceless view of the river behind. There is an amazing deck complete with rockers to enjoy the tranquility of this if you don't want to pay a high price for a private balcony. The breakfast was the usual and the beds are comfy and room was clean. The guy at the desk was very nice and the location is very close to a quaint downtown to go eat and shop some.

"nice lobby renovations, same old towels"

AngelaF2, Kingsport, Tennessee 04/04/2016

Jacuzzi tubs have been removed from rooms during renovations. Did not have a functional hot tub. This was an issue since we requested the jacuzzi tubs during group reservation. Towels are thin and rough, but there were plenty of them in the room which was a surprise. Love that this hotel offers face wipes for make up removal in rooms. Breakfast is ok, it is a hot breakfast, but lots of premade items instead of fresh foods that were not good. No fruit offered at all. Beds slept really well, this was an upgrade from last time we stayed there that occurred during renovation. The view is amazing, and so relaxing to sit on the deck and watch/listen to the river that runs behind the hotel.

"The Best has gotten BETTER!!!"

kenneth j, Raleigh, North Carolina 24/03/2016

Location, staff, newly remodeled, and very clean. This is my favorite hotels. I spend 36. weeks per year in hotels, and this one sets the standard for how hotels should be run. The river is gorgeous. One can stroll along the river to nearby restaurants. Great deck uoverlooking the river.

"Clean,quiet and a bit elegant."

randm5471, West Bend Wi 20/03/2016

Recently well-remodeled hotel. Excellent reception at desk and f/u service. Exceptionally helpful, friendly and outgoing - especially Taquich (sp?). Manager went out of her way - by far - to accommadate special swimming request. Very nice room and convenient to the Smokies. 2nd entrance sign covered by bushes and the place is a bit hidden but well worth effort. Housekeeping better than average.

"Best Western Plus River Escape Nice Hotel"

Kathleen P, Evergreen Park, Iceland 20/03/2016

Pretty view ... clean hotel ... nice lobby and outside veranda if you enjoy sitting outside and their is stream that runs alongside it. We selected this hotel because we had driven through the Smokey Mountains and our next destination was in central North Carolina.

"Peaceful & Relaxing"

Jim S, Dallas, Texas 19/03/2016

The hotel is located along side the Tuckasegee River. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bed is very comfortable. We had a 3rd floor riverside room. The view and the river sounds from light white water rushing over the rocks create a tranquil setting (especially in the early morning as the sun is rising, and evening as the sun is setting).

"WCU ALPHA CHI OMEGA Mother - Daughter Weekend "

Wonderful hotel ... Best Western on the river clean remodeled rooms. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Please ask for rooms on the riverside as they fill quickly. Here are a few of my new fine feathered friends I met while staying there this past weekend.

"Stayed for a DIY Brewery Hop"

pinkiesdiva, Duluth, Georgia, USA 14/03/2016

This a beautiful location and all the employees were very friendly with great senses of humor. Loved the riverfront room and relaxing in the hot tub. Walking DISTANCE to Dillsboro and its cute shops, but not very conducive to walking (sidewalks, etc.) Decent walk into Sylva, too.

"River View"

Flanny27540, Holly Springs, North Carolina 14/03/2016

Cannot recommend this place enough. Great location, close to Sylva and Culhowee, friendly & helpful staff, beautiful location on the River with a deck and chairs to enjoy it. Newly (?) renovated, clean, etc., etc.

"Extremely clean--Hotel staff very friendly and helpful"

Cheryl U, Charlotte, United States 11/03/2016

This hotel is AWESOME!! The owner and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They made sure that we had everything we needing to enjoy our stay. The views from the hotel are magnificent!! The river flowing beside the hotel was so soothing. I will recommend this hotel to everyone I know.

"Welcome Retreat"

NeuseRiver1941, Raleigh, North Carolina, United States 07/03/2016

I have no complaints, beautiful room, view of the rushing river from my balcony, lovely lobby, great breakfast options while looking at the river, spotless clean, welcoming staff. You will love it here. It's also very convenient to local sights, Western Carolina University, shopping and dining. Major highway nearby.

"Enjoy the River and the Breakfast!"

cliving64, Boone, North Carolina 29/02/2016

My husband and I stayed the weekend here and fell in love with the area. We were there to see the Pride of the Mountains marching band at WCU. This hotel was very convenient to WCU as well as Cherokee, casinos and large flea markets. The beautiful river was very enjoyable and the hotel had nice patios and sitting areas. We relaxed on the balcony watching the ducks and canoes. Breakfast was great - the works! Dillsboro and Sylva had great little downtowns suited for foot travelers. We will definitely stay here on out next trip to WCU.

"WNC can't beat this place"

Steven C, Florence, United States 25/02/2016

Honestly I'd prefer to keep this place as my own little secret. It's another jewel in the mountains of WNC. The breakfast was even better than most hotel breakfasts! And the view of the river just cannot be beat. Also, there was a clean indoor pool with a jacuzzi. SO GOOD!

"Funeral Trip"

Sharon W, Lecanto, United States 23/02/2016

Considering the reason why we stayed here, all the pleasantness and ease of anything needed was fantastic. even the river and mountain view helped greatly to keep our hearts at ease. The staff was absolutely the best. not one attitude or bit of laziness. i highly recommend staying here for any type of stay. its beautiful and extreemly peaceful.

"Very Cool Location"

David J, Fayetteville, United States 22/02/2016

This hotel "ROCKS!" We (my wife and I) needed a nice hotel near both Cherokee and the Blue Ridge Parkway. SCORE, this hotel is all about the Stream (Tuckasegee River) that flows right beside this hotel. Beautiful setting! While you are here try Speedy's Pizza in nearby Slyva (get the wings too / GREAT flavor). Best Wishes!

"Overnight Trip to WCU"

Steve_ex_Libris, Albemarle, North Carolina 22/02/2016

I just have two specific things I want to say... 1) after being on the road all morning, we were able to get our room at noon in time to clean up a little before afternoon meeting at Western Carolina -- huge plus! 2) the morning staff could turn up the heat on the breakfast items. Good variety, but all of the "hot" food & coffee was, at best, luke-warm -- disappointing. Beyond those two points, everything else was very good to excellent! Staff assistance, location, room quality, pricing -- wonderful, and we will be staying here again over the next four years!

"served it's purpose"

CoolAuntBirminghamAL, Birmingham AL 14/02/2016

Above average Best Western. We were looking for a one night stay to break up a long trip. Front desk personnel was extremely helpful with local restaurants. Rooms and baths were very clean and the breakfast was impressive. However the night we stayed there was a cold night (22°), there was a crack in the balcony door seal which made the room "chilly". The in room safe did not work. We would have complained to management, but we only stayed one night. Would stay there again

Claude H, United States 08/02/2016

Had an opportunity to stay in Western Carolina for a few days, searched for a room online. Haven't stayed at a Best Western in a number of years (no reason really) and saw they were right where we needed to be. VERY glad I choce this place! River side room, super staff, clean room a solid breakfast! Very pleasant stay, you (too) will enjoy this place. Next time we visit, we will stay here again!

"Best Western Dillsboro, NC"

Lori W, Clayton, United States 08/02/2016

The room was comfortable and clean. The view of the river was beautiful. I enjoyed the hot tub. The breakfast was a good variety and hot. The coffee was good and ready all the time. I would stay at this hotel again.

"Riverview & Comfort!"

Kelly B, Townsend, Tennessee 08/02/2016

Rooms are clean and comfortable. River runs next to the hotel where you can see it and hear it. Extremely relaxing and beautiful scenery. The staff are friendly and willing to help with questions. Breakfast is hot and fresh.

Shane S, toccoa, United States 19/01/2016

We look forward to coming back. We absolutely love the people. area and everything about this Best Western!!! The rooms are very roomy. The only complaint we had was water pressure in shower. We have stayed here several times and have only experienced no water pressure once. Cant wait to come back.

"Immaculate accomidations"

Glen H, Bryson City NC, United States 18/01/2016

The suite I visited in the Best Western of Dillsboro NC was absolutely spotless. Our stay was well provisioned and all the room had obviously been cleaned and provisioned with thoughtful care. The staff members are professional and courteous. We enjoyed our stay and would refer our friends to this motel without hesitation.

"Hidden Gem in Dillsboro"

Nativewellness, Norman, Oklahoma 09/01/2016

This was a complete surprise to me. Stayed here for first time this week. Newly renovated, virtually everything new. Beautiful setting next to river. Staff was one of the best have seen in areas of helpfulness and courtesy. Will be back !

Barbara M, JACKSON, United States 07/01/2016

The staff at this Best Western Plus was like staying in a high end resort..Season the manager was so accommodating to our needs especially with my young children..they went out of their way to make sure they had the best was fantastic..In one worth the stay and right on the river..

"False advertising "

User 06/01/2016

Booked because it's close to WCU, more expensive and farther out but thought the river would be nice and give my son and I a beautiful view to wake up to. I booked a suite to give us a little privacy. Suite just means bigger room to Best Western, no bedroom. I asked for river view, was told it 20 bucks more but the site didn't give options for a river view verses no river so the assumption was they were all river. I was told it's because I booked through a third party site. My advice, Stay at the Microtel instead.

"New Years Eve Visit"

User 05/01/2016

This is the Greatest Best Western I have ever stayed at. We stayed in Pigeon Forge and decided to stay longer to bring in the New Year with all the hotels booked we were amazed that we found this diamond in the rough and I mean Diamond the place is fabulous and sets right along the river with an amazing view but most of all there staff "especially Katie" is outstanding they really know how to make a family feel welcome! I would recommend it to anyone and they have made it a place I would definitely go back to ! Thank You Katie and sorry I don't remember the gentlemens name that worked night shift and all the other staff for making it a Great Stay!

"Great stay"

Our family had a wonderful nights sleep. The hotel is in a very peaceful area. The staff were sweet and helpful The view is stunning on the river and the hotel is surrounded by mountains. Our family was very pleased with Best Western. We will return again.

"Great place to stay"

Margaret H, Greensboro, United States 01/01/2016

We really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful hotel, beautiful setting, good value. Nice pool, breakfast is on the better side of typical. Pay a little extra for a balcony overlooking the river. Worth every penny.

"Best night sleep in a long time"

Susan40509, Burlington, North Carolina 30/12/2015

The place to stay when you are in the Dillsboro, Sylva, or Bryson City area. The hotel is right on the Tuckasgee River. If you are lucky and get a riverside room you can open the door or window to your private deck and listen to the river while you sleep. Very clean, spacious and nicely appointed rooms. Would love to go back anytime of the year. Make sure you explore down the road across the river from the hotel to see the train wreck scene from the movie The Fugitive.

"Nice Clean Hotel, Great location!"

Ashley D, Villa Rica, Georgia 29/12/2015

We came in for an overnight stay to ride the Polar Express in Bryson City! Dillsboro is great area, close to everything, about 12 miles to Bryson City-nice drive. Staff was very helpful, rooms were clean, sits on river which was so nice! Breakfast was wonderful! Great Stay! Highly recommend!

"Excellent service and amazing views!"

User 28/12/2015

We came here on a whim and are so glad we did! This hotel has fantastic customer service, everything is sparkling clean and you get to sleep to the sound of the river! Definitely upgrade to the balcony with river view!!!!! I stayed in room 315 and it has a garden jacuzzi tub-- definitely a plus on my anniversary!

"Holiday Couples Getaway"

Jennifer G, Loganville, United States 28/12/2015

We thoroughly enjoyed the River View room! What a wonderful getaway! Very private and romantic with the river flowing outside the balcony. The room was spacious and comfortable. Extremely comfortable beds and the complimentary breakfast was enjoyable too. The views from the window and balcony included the river and the surrounding mountains. Very picturesque! We just booked another stay at this hidden gem. I would highly recommend it.

"Elf on the Shelf"

Vls92, Yadkinville, North Carolina 22/12/2015

This hotel was Awesome! My family and I stayed here while riding the Polr Express (very disappointment in the Polar Express). The hotel was the highlight of our trip. We wish we would have just spent more time at the hotel and skipped the Polar Express. Everyone at the hotel was nice and the hotel was clean and our money was well spent here. Breakfast was really good also. The best part about the hotel was that they have their very own Elf on the Shelf. Any hotel that has an Elf on the Shelf is tops in my book. We loved waking up in the morning and looking to see what the elf had done. Thank you for this experience.

"Amazing service with amazing views!"

beachmedic93, Wilmington, North Carolina, USA 22/12/2015

I don't know that I could place enough emphasis on the great care the staff takes to make you feel comfortable and your stay enjoyable. From the front desk staff to housekeeping staff, everyone there makes sure your room is pristine and to your liking. A recent remodel added to the charm of this riverside escape and the breakfast that is included with your stay is second to none, a full hot breakfast is a rare find in today's hotel world. I will absolutely be back to this jewel in the mountains. Go Cats!

Brittany A, Asheboro 14/12/2015

The place was very nice and decorated beautiful. Free WIFI for customers staying, pool, beds slept great and the rooms were clean! I recommend to double check behind yourself when leaving because i left something and called a few hours after leaving and got the run around. was told I would get a call back the next day and that was 4 days ago!! I've yet to hear anything! For the price I paid for the room, the least they could do is mail me my belongings on my Dollar!

"Great place to stay"

Michael R, South Carolina, United States 11/12/2015

This is a beautiful hotel. The staff here is friendly and helpful. We needed directions. Front desk clerk found what we needed on Google. She printed them off for us and made sure we knew where we were going. Behind the hotel, there is a river. We have fun just watching the water. On the side of the hotel there is a fire pit . On summer evenings you could also grill out, there are BBQ grills outside. The deck overlooks the river. On the deck are chairs and umbrella covered tables.

"Great Hotel"

Stacey C, Fuquay Varina, United States 07/12/2015

I love this place, this hotel has great location right on the river. The staff is phenomenal, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The new décor is absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend this hotel and visiting Dillsboro great town.

"Hidden Treasue"

User 07/12/2015

Wouldn't know this place was here if not for the sign. Beautiful views, quiet setting. Look forward to returning for anther relaxing weekend. Sitting on the balcony and listening to the river is the ultimate chill

"Best Hotel I stay at in North Carolina"

User 02/12/2015

I was booked in a standard Queen Room but asked for an upgrade to go with my Status through Best Western and WOW!! Great room, great view, and great service. I was sad I could only stay one night. I could hear the river from my room which was really nice and I slept like a baby.

"Amazing Rooms and Views "

User 29/11/2015

I highly recommend staying at this Best Western if you are going to ride the Great Smoky Mountains RR. The staff is really helpful and the views are amazing. I suggest you book early to get a river view room. Breakfast is a bust though if you enjoy eating sausage cause they never seem to have it out anymore. Other than that it's a wonderful place to stay.

"Pleasantly Surprised"

Scott P, Knoxville, United States 23/11/2015

My wife and I were a little nervous driving to this hotel because of all the surrounding hotels that we had passed around the area. They weren't very nice looking. When we arrived at this hotel we were glad to see that the property and building were very nice. The staff was great and very helpful. The building seemed very new or freshly remodeled and our room was very clean and comfortable. The private balcony was nice with a great view of the rushing river.

"Best Western Plus River Escape Inn & suites Dillsboro, NC"

User 21/11/2015

This is one of the best hotels that I have stayed at this year. The room was on the river side, and the view of the mountain and the river is fantastic. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and my room couldn't have been cleaner. The breakfast was very good, but I wish they would start including hard boiled eggs. The lobby, pool, and work out room were excellent, and wifi is great.

"Amazing Location and Experience!"

Klausner G, Alachua, United States 20/11/2015

I was traveling to the Greater Asheville are for business and we ended up staying at Best Western Plus River Escape Inn & Suites for close to 10 days. In my 10 days at this location I was given exceptional customer support by two people: Katie (who was new) and Erik (who was an amazing person). Rooms were really nice and VERY clean. I left my room in the morning in a complete mess and came back every evening to a perfect room, apart from my things which were exactly where I wanted them. Everyone was very thoughtful. One problem. The pool water was a little on the cold side, and the hot tub didn't work. They spent close to a week getting people there to fix it but there was a persistent problem. They assured me that this WILL be fixed for my next stay however. Average breakfast, but what can you really expect? The problem was that there weren't that many Vegetarian (eggless) options. Wifi was decent but got slow at night when everyone was online. Dryer and washing machine worked great. No complaints. Oh, did I mention that the location was AMAZING?

"Great locatation Friendly staff"

John M, Concord, United States 19/11/2015

I considered other hotels in the area until I read the reviews. This hotel has recently been remodeled and is my preferred place to stay in Dillsboro, NC. The rooms were clean. The beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly. The river view was very scenic.

"Wonderful, relaxing stay"

coachdog1, Tampa, Florida 17/11/2015

Even though we had only one night to stay, I have to say we were very impressed. We had another place reserved but decided to book here since the function we were attending was being held here. We were very pleased that we decided to make the change and stay here. We were able to check in early which was a very welcome thing for us since we needed to change before we attended the function. Both ladies at the front desk were very accommodating in getting us to the room early. The room was wonderful and the view from the balcony was fantastic. I am not sure if the rooms had been recently renovated or not, but everything looked to be new and was extremely clean. The entire hotel was clean and very well maintained. We didn't see one area that looked as if it had been neglected. We were extremely happy that we stayed and I know if we would ever need a hotel in the area we would certainly choose to stay here again!

"Amazing hotel on the river!"

Mitchum Velva B, Atlanta, United States 13/11/2015

Hidden Gem in Dillsboro, North Carolina! Our first stay and can't say enough about the Staff and property! Sits on the river which creates an amazing atmosphere. Rooms are very well appointed, clean and nicely decorated. Bathrooms very nice and everything you need! Recommend a room with balcony overlooking river. Beds are comfy and cozy Full hot yummy breakfast! We will be back again and again! All seasons

"Great Out of the Way Stay"

Edward B, Asheboro, North Carolina, United States 09/11/2015

This Best Western was very clean. The staff were all professional, courteous and knowledgeable. It was out of the way from things we wanted to walk to in town, but a nice location on the river. We would stay here again.

"Room with a view"

Doreen S, Clayton, United States 05/11/2015

Best Western River Escape is named just as it escape. The view of the river right outside the rooms is breathtaking and quiet. The Motel is nestled down a valley hidden from plan view of the small town across the way. A great place to come to , for relaxing, shopping, fishing, hiking or whatever your choice is..

Billy C, Austell 04/11/2015

I needed to relax for a night &really enjoyed the rever running in the back great place, this place was clean relaxing quiet &enjoy ever minet,if ever I go back r go on a trip this would be my kind of place very nice in comfort all around

"Wonderful balcony view of Tuskaseegee River"

peachpie55, Fort Mill, South Carolina 03/11/2015

We selected a balcony river view room and were stunned by how lovely it was. The beauty of the river and the Dillsboro area in the fall is awe inspiring! According to the staff they had just completed a complete renovation. The decor and rooms are surprisingly urban but comfortable and inviting. Pluses include The buffet breakfast that includes eggs, sausage, grits, pastries, cereals, a pancake AND a waffle maker, coffee, juice. The plates are styrofoam and the cutlery plastic but that is expected. The food was very good but go early if you don't want to wait for kids etc in line. The staff who are very friendly and helpful. The river view room we had a a very comfortable king sized bed and a sitting area. It had a huge flat screen TV, coffee maker, good sized mini fridge.Everything was new and clean. We didn't take our suits but there is a pool, hot tub, exercise room and a lovely boardwalk and picnic area by the river. Minuses: fall weekends just cost more, this place was worth is but use a service like expedia to check out rates. We called the day before to see if they had any room and our rate was dropped about $40 when we mentioned the online price. Fun Fact: you can walk about a quarter mile down the railroad track to go to Dillsboro. We enjoyed the walk!

"Great Hotel On The river"

Leona T, Cohutta, United States 03/11/2015

This was our second stay at this hotel. I can recommend it highly. It is exceptionally clean in all areas. It serves a good breakfast that is included with the price of the room. The dining area is located on the river view side of the hotel and the view is great. Our room had a view of the river and a balcony that made us feel like we sitting out over the river. The beds are very comfortable and as I have already noted the room was exceptionally clean. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to help us locate the places we wanted to visit. If you want a room with a view of the river you pay a little more but it is well worth the extra money. The hotel is tucked away in a quiet area along the river. I would recommend booking with the hotel directly using their local number. They can give specific directions from the main highway because the local sign regulations require small signs that are easy to miss. Our GPS tried to send us in the opposite direction and that was frustrating for two weary travelers after dark. The person working the desk was an angel and guided us in by phone. It really is just a short distance from the main highway.

"Excellent Home Base for several days in the mountains."

parfourrick, Chattanooga, Tennessee 01/11/2015

Hotel is freshly renovated, rooms like brand new, clean, well decorated and comfortable. Right on the river! Many rooms with patios or balconies within feet of the rippling water. Very relaxing. Near the scenic tourist railroad which may roll by a couple of times a day during summer months, not a disruption. Downtown Dillsboro is half a mile away. Quaint shops and cafes. Also a stop on the tourist railroad. Close to everything in that part of the mountains. 20 minutes from Cherokee, casinos and Smokey Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway and Western Carolina University. Not much farther to Bryson City, Nanatahala Gorge, etc. I was very pleased with the clean modern rooms and will come back.

"Nice location, better staff"

Rodney W, Gastonia, North Carolina 29/10/2015

Nice location on the back side (river), front side railroad, but never heard a train. People that work there helpful and pleasant. Recently updated and I thought it was fine before. Only negative some fitness equipment could use some attention.

"Awesome Location on River"

Travelbug1990, Meridian, Mississippi 28/10/2015

Our favorite place to stop on the way to Gatlinburg through North Carolina! The main attraction is the location on the river and the patio overlooking the river with rocking chairs! The rooms are nice size and are clean, and the beds are very comfy!!! One of my favorite things is the fact that the rooms have a screened window allowing you to turn the air/heat off on cool nights, open the window, and listen to the water running over the rocks in the river! Awesome sleeping conditions!

"Poor Customer Service"

Lori M, Statesville, North Carolina 27/10/2015

This has been one of mine and my husbands favorite get away spots. I made reservations for the weekend of Sept 28th, Mountain Heritage Day. I had to call several days later to cancel the reservation because my Mother in Law fell and broke her hip. The woman that took my cancellation was very pleasant and asked why, I explained the situation and she informed me that it was all taken care of. I didn't get any conformation and didn't really think anything about it. When I got my credit card statement I saw that I had been charged for the room. I thought I was a hold charge because it wasn't 9-28 yet. I called and was informed I had been a no show. I have called several times and asked to speak to the manager, I'm always told that he isn't there. I have never received a call back. I have been very disappointed with the way this entire situation has been handled. Customer Service and retention is not the top priority for this establishment.

"North Carolina leaves 2015"

Katherine B, Henderson, United States 26/10/2015

We enjoyed our stay with the Best Western River Escape Inn in Dillsboro North Carolina. Would definitely stay there again if we visit North Carolina in the fall for leaf viewing. It's always nice to visit friendly small towns and enjoy the hospitality they have to offer.

"Enjoyed stay but phone problem never addressed"

Edward R, Harrison, tn, United States 24/10/2015

This was our second stay at the BW River Escape. The first stay was perfect. This stay was nice but there were problems. The rooms and baths are immaculate. Staff is friendly, but not so helpful on this second stay. The phone in our room did not work and it was never fixed and no apology given, no reason given, no offer of a discount. The different shifts do not communicate with each other regarding problems. The first person we reported the phone problem to promised to have a night manager knock on our door for our wake up call the next morning because the phone was broken but this did not happen and the following shifts knew nothing of the failed wake up call or the the repeatedly reported broken phone. On check out, we reported the broken phone again to the first woman we originally had reported it to and she did not remember us, the broken phone, or that she had promised to get a night manager to knock on our door for a wake-up call. We will give this hotel another chance because of our first great experience, the location over the looking the river, and the cleanliness of the rooms. Hopefully the phone will be fixed by then.

"Hotel with great view of river!!"

Tracey26342, Raleigh, North Carolina 19/10/2015

Get a room with a view!! Nice clean hotel. Small so doesn't feel crowded. Clean indoor pool, fire pit and ok breakfast bar with some hot items. Town has lots of shops and restaurants. Short easy drive to Great Smokey Mt Railroad and Cherokee.

"Strongly recommend..."

Andrea B, Wilmington, NC, United States 17/10/2015

I stayed at this hotel with a business group. We had 10 rooms from Sunday to Friday. The rooms aren't fancy, but they are clean and comfortable. The staff is professional, courteous, and friendly. Breakfast choices include pancakes, waffles, cereal, muffins and breads, apples and oranges, and beverages. Nice indoor pool (about 35 feet long), although the jets in the hot tub are very weak. There is also a large patio/porch complete with tables, chairs, and rocking chairs, that has a beautiful view of a fast-moving stream.

"You MUST stay here"

Cheryl B, Long Beach, United States 15/10/2015

We didn't have a reservation but got tired (road trip) and saw the Best Western billboard so decided to stay here. I can not recommend this hotel enough. Such friendly and helpful staff, clean, breakfast and a front row seat on the river. Inside seating that looks out on the river if it is raining/cold. Rocking chairs or table and chairs, on a huge balcony, if you want to be outside. It was perfect. We will be back.

"Great remodeling going on"

TED_5757, Houston 14/10/2015

This hotel is just off the highway 23 with room and porch views of the Tuckasegee River. We've visited about once a year for 4 or so years. The draw is the view from the back porch with rocking chairs where you can just sit and relax but take heed, the sun can get hot on you. On our latest trip, Sept 2015, we were pleasantly surprised by the remodeling that was going on. The rooms have been updated and carpets have been replaced. They were bringing in new coolers for the newly added snack rooms. The wall a/c & heat units are still there, don't know what will be done with that. There were some minor inconveniences during our stay but no show stoppers. I love what they have done. From your room or porch you can see kayakers (some classes), fishing, ducks etc. Ample parking. Short drive to many attractions.

"Great Find!"

Gary C, Greensboro 09/10/2015

What a great find! We needed to find a place for a one-night stay in-between others and the Best Western Plus River Escape Inn & Suites came up as an option. While some of the reviews mentioned remodeling, we had absolutely no problems at all. The staff was great, the room, outstanding and the view WOW! Even though it was raining on the day we left it was still a gorgeous view of the river off of our balcony. Would highly recommend the facility and we will be back again, when we have longer to stay!

"Very nice place to stay"

We were referred to this hotel by a friend. So glad we were able to get a reservation for the 3 nights we were there. Even though it was a rainy weekend, the view from our riverfront balcony made the dreary days well worth it! The breakfast buffet is relatively standard, nothing takes it over the top, but was nice to grab a bite to eat before we left to check out the local historic small towns. Close to WCU, we were there for parents weekend and is a short distance from the university. We'll probably be staying there whenever we visit WCU and our son in the future.

"Everything has been renovated!"

This hotel and it's staff were wonderful! I was very impressed with all the renovations that had been done. Everywhere you looked, inside or outside, you could tell that major renovations had been performed recently. Landscaping, the deck, the pool and hot tub area, the rooms, and the common area's all looked great and freshly re-done. We had a 5 day stay with them and got to know some of the staff, Chad, Season, Holly, all were super nice people, great personalities, and went out of their way to help in any way they could. We chose a room on the 2nd floor all the way at the pool end and enjoyed our patio view of the river that runs along the back of the property. Very relaxing public back deck with the same views too. We also has great recommendations for eating in the little town of Dillsboro and the next town of Silva. Two very nice and quaint towns. You can't go wrong with the location of this Hotel either, route 441 is within a mile to take you north or south. We experienced one full rainy day and found the with the recommendation of the staff at the front desk, a cab company came from another town and picked us up and took us to Bryson City to enjoy the train ride their, all at a very fair cab fair. Again, the staff was absolutely pleasant to deal with.

"Worth every penny!"

As always, the quality, comfort, attentiveness of the staff, cleanliness of the grounds and building were top of the line. We would never consider staying anywhere else than this Best Western when traveling to the Western part of North Carolina.

Again an excellent experience. We enjoyed our stay and the convenience of the location to Cherokee, Dillard, Townsend, and Pigeon Forge areas. Access to local areas was exactly what we wanted and had a great time.

This is our groups 2nd stay at this motel and we had around 60 people. Excellent staff. We hope to come back again next year. We had a couple's son bring them from Miami and one man came from California. Some stayed over for an extended stay to enjoy the area.
