Best Western Plus Parkhotel & Spa Cottbus

Although a bit on the expensive side, this hotel is very comfortable, with spacious and stylish rooms and a nice Italian restaurant on site. I had both a walk-in shower and a full bathtub., and bedding was extremely comfortable. Parking was free, though service was a bit patchy. For example, the checkin agent seemed new to the job, didn't speak much English, and had to consult with colleagues. But she was also very kind and did give me useful information (though the wifi password was completely unnecessary). The food in the restaurant was nice, but…. My order was initially taken by an earnest young lad. One of the older waiters then intervened for no obvious reason to check it and the result was confusion in which my main course eventually arrived before the starter; after which the main course was taken away, came back, was taken away again and finally returned when I had finished my starter! The older waiters seemed also to be fawning over specific – presumably regular customers, whilst ignoring others. At breakfast I was initially mistaken for belonging to a visiting group of seniors, but when I explained that I was a regular hotel guest the maitre d' found me a table and was very helpful in showing me how to work the tea-making facility. I did not have time to try out the spa. I agree with comments here that the hotel is hard to find, being tucked away in parkland at the edge of the city. Perhaps better signage on the main highways would help.
