"Great stop to break up a long drive"
Very convenient location. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Close to restaurants and the town of Cookeville is lovely. We als found a great park to walk before dinner. Although it is close to highway there is very little road noise. Nice to have fridge and microwave available in the room. We did not take time for breakfast but it is available.
"Great place to stay at."
We always pick a Best Western to stay at and this one was great. We noticed it had some bad ratings, but we had no issues with this hotel at all. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.
"Nice Hotel; Great Value"
The staff is always pleasant, the rooms are clean and comfy, fridge and microwave are great, and they're pet friendly! Hotel is just off the Interstate with lots of restaurants and gas stations nearby.
"Good motel!"
We were traveling with my son's basketball team and stopped in at this motel. The rooms looked to be newly renovated, they were very clean and comfortable! Breakfast was great, staff was very friendly and helpful, and the price was right for 6 rooms! We liked it so much, we stayed again on the drive home!
"Thankful rest at the Thunderbird Motel"
This is an excellent overnight location. It is pet friendly, has a good hot breakfast and friendly staff. We enjoyed our quick overnight at this location and would recommend to any long distance travelers with pets.
"A great stop!"
I have made the Thunderbird an anchor point in my travels to the midwest. The rooms are clean, it has an attached Mexican restaurant and fast food options within walking distance. The breakfast is by far the best I have had in Tennessee and the staff is very friendly.
"Highly recommend"
I was passing through and needed a place to stay for the night. I have had positive experiences with other BW's and this one didn't disappoint! Pool was great to relax in at the end of a long day of driving. Nice selection for breakfast as well! Staff was professional and polite. I would highly recommend!
"Staff and overall appearance of hotel was great"
The staff was right on about anything we ask, such as the restaurant on site which was very good and there was no nose outside the room that would have keep us up at night, and the breakfast was hot and they gave you plenty of choices. This hotel is right off of I40 so it was really easy to get off and then back on in the morning.
"Not non-smoking property"
Rooms were supposed to be non-smoking, yet we had to change rooms due to the extreme smoke smell. Settled on the least smoke smelling room because we were exhausted and didn't want to have to cause a scene. Toilet ran all night. Loud music and parties above us and sketchy people roaming the sidewalks and parked in the lot at all hours of the day and night.
"Good stay"
Very nice. There is an El Tapatio located ten feet away. Very comfortable beds. Liked the double sinks in the bathroom, which was recently remodeled, and the new shower head was a dream. I would definitely stay here again,
"Wonderful hotel"
We stopped here as a half way point of a long trip. The hotel was well taken care of. We enjoyed a great breakfast! Kind and helpful service from staff. Good price. Overall we we're extremely satisfied with our stay.
"Not a bad overnight stay"
Room was clean and the friendly check in and lovely woman working the small restaurant (breakfast) made the stay good. Motel convenient to the interstate and tho we had a ground floor room (103) wasn't too noisy at night and seems construction type workers frequent here and are gone early in the am. Nice Mexican restaurant shares the parking lot and was very good. Would consider staying here again.
"Charming nostalgic hotel"
Charming older Best Western that has been updated just enough to enjoy both a comfortable and nostalgic experience. I especially liked the way the hotel was situated with rooms entering from the outside. We stayed one night while we traveled to South Carolina. Reasonable rate and staff was friendly!
"Window leaked"
The hotel was decent, good location. It rained during the night and our window started leaking around 2:30am. We didn't sleep after that. This was not the first time it leaked at he covering around the window frame was sagging an leaked. Very disappointed that the front desk did not even apologize. We had a long drive the next day on very little sleep.
"Wonderful stay"
The staff was wonderful the hotel was nice and clean, the rooms had plenty of pillows and the beds were nice and comfortable. The three days I stayed was very nice. The Mexican Restaurant next door was wonderful food and very cheap and got plenty to eat and the staff and waiter was on top of taken care of you must eat there that is how good it was. The surrounding restaurant were just as good.
"Excellent location"
This place I have stayed from 2017 and went from being a period look to a now more modern look and easier to have cleaned. NO rugs, renewed bathroom and floors looks fabulous. Attentive and you have everything you need near by.
"Don't Stay Here"
I would have to say that it is It's dirty, noisy and very outdated with lumpy mattresses. I guess I have to tell you that it's right on a very busy road. There is constant foot traffic in front of your door all night long. I did not even shower here. I could not wait to get to my next destination.
"Overnight with pet"
Excellent service by a professional and Friendly staff. A few "dark" spots in the parking lot and stairwells but my family and I felt safe. Quite a few restaurants nearby to choose from, easy on/off to I40. Units were clean and neat. We'll stay here again on our way back.
"Great stay!"
We stayed as a stopover while traveling. This was great, clean, cozy room, in nice condition, pet friendly, nice hot shower with great water pressure! Perfect! I would definitely recommend this place . We travel with a small dog so we need Pepto friendly. We have switched to Best Western this past year almost exclusively. Their prices are good and we haven't found a bad one yet !
"Nice overnight spot if you don't have a pet."
The hotel is clean and offered a nice breakfast. I traveled with a dog. My only complaint is that the only grass available is behind the building - by the dumpsters. I didn't feel safe walking back there. If you are traveling with a pet that needs grass please keep this in mind.
"Nice for the price"
Easy off the highway lots of restaurants and stores around. Mexican on site that looked good but we did not eat there. Parking a little tight. Lecia at front desk was very nice. Room fine for the money. Hot water was iffy but okay
, General Manager at Best Western Thunderbird Motel, responded to this review
Thank you for your kind review! We are glad you liked our convenient location. We apologize for the inconvenience caused during your stay. We hope you will come back and stay with us again and provide us an opportunity to deliver superior experience.
"Great Location and a Good Value"
An aged property, updated, double sinks in the room is a nice touch. Lots of parking, Breakfast exceeded expectations, with Hot and Cold Options. Close to the interstate, other eating options close by.
, General Manager at Best Western Thunderbird Motel, responded to this review
Thank you for your time and the awesome review!! Our team will be thrilled to know we could exceed your breakfast expectations with hot and cold options. We are really glad you liked our updates and convenient location. Thank you for staying with us and we hope to see you again soon!
"Smell"
I have stayed at this hotel previously and really enjoyed my room. The room I received this time was bad. There was a smell to it that was very unpleasant. There was major cracks in the walls. One crack was behind the mirror and went from the ceiling to the floor. I could have put a finger in it. The tv was so far from the bed I couldn't hear it.
"Need a place and save money, this is it"
It is a dated hotel, but it's comfortable. The people at the desk are super friendly and helpful. Of course there are many hotels along the road, but this for the money was worth it. Close to the interstate, eateries and shopping. With the exception of an employe truck that worked at the mexican restaurant attached ti the hotel, which had a loud exhaust and he came went a few times was off putting but it did not lessen the comfort of the hotel and no way reflects on the hotel. If you're in the area and need a places to sleep and not break the bank, this is it.
"Great motel"
This is the cleanest room I have had in a long time and I stay in allot of motels. The staff was awesome. The breakfast was packaged covid friendly items, but there wer so many items you left more than happy. I also felt very safe there. Don't be fooled by the cigarette butts on the ground. I had a heavy smoker above me and he was not a clean smoker
"Just an overnight stay on a road trip"
Unassuming motel with easy access to I-40. The amenities were more than adequate, and surprisingly quiet considering it is a Motel. The complimentary breakfast was continental, which worked out fine for me as I had many hours to drive that day. No complaints at all, check-in and out were smooth. Polite front desk staff. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. If I need an overnight stay in the area again I will pop back in.
"Nice place to stay"
I liked most things about my stay for the price. The A/C unit in room 111 is very loud. Check the air condition unit before moving into your room. The stay would had been great with a normal A/C unit.
"One nite"
Stayed one nite with out dog. Reasonably clean, quiet, comfortable beds. Definitely a working man's motel. Breakfast was ok, well below what you would get at a higher priced hotel but acceptable. Good value for the price. Close to restaurants and easy on and off from I40. B+
"Clean quiet rooms"
Stayed here with my daughter on a road trip. Room was very clean and quiet. Pool was very nice and relaxing at end of day. Breakfast was standard hotel fare but good amd plenty of options. Just no juice, which was odd, but not at all a deal breaker. Highly recommended
"Overall a B+"
We checked in without a reservation and they were nice enough to give us the internet price. Even though our room was on the second floor, it was a comfortable and spacious room. They do have an elevator. Room had all the amenities we like, fridge, micro, free WiFi, and coffee in the room. Breakfast was average. Overall it was a pleasant stay and we'd stay there again.
"Fantastic value for the price paid"
I love the classic motor court style. Nice rooms, great shower, breakfast was excellent, everyone whom worked there was very kind and helpful. I would recommend that anyone stay there. Nice hot breakfast served as a to go order.
"Perfect stay with pets"
We were traveling with our 2 large dogs. The room was perfect for pets. There was a grassy area behind the hotel, while not technically a dog run, perfectly safe to let the dogs off leash. The hotel is easily accessible off I 40 and there is a Mexican restaurant right next door.
"Could have been great if host would have treated me differently"
All staff but the one was amazing. I think since I stayed longer I could have got a deal. $105 night for 2 queen room. The suite was a few dollars more because my sister got that room for a night. 931-303-2799
"convenient and clean"
We enjoyed our visit to the area and the hotel. The hotel offered several options at breakfast and had hot sandwiches or omelet, bacon or sausage, and biscuit or toast along with the cereal, and fruit items. Because of Covid they prepare what you want instead of letting you get it yourself. The hotel room looked like it had been recently remodeled and the beds were comfortable. There is a Mexican restaurant right across from the hotel lobby. We had a first floor room which made it convenient to back into the parking space and unload our car right at the room. The price was also very good. You can't miss with this hotel.
"Definitely not worth $100 per night"
I really feel ripped off for paying $98 a night for a hotel probably worth $60-65 a night. Stains on the pillow cases and on the sheets, only good thing I can say is the beds are comfortable and Lisa was very friendly and quick with getting me checked in.
"Clean and good value"
Originally booked here for the pet friendly room, wound up not bringing my pets. Only stayed one night, had a nice stay, room was clean and the double sink was nice to have. Very close to everything we needed while in town for a concert. Definitely would rebook if in the area.
"Clean and Tidy rooms"
The check in and out was fast and friendly, the rooms are clean and cozy and the pillows are AMAZING and comfy. The breakfast we got however was over cooked and rubbery. I honestly wish it wasn't so expensive or we would have stayed longer.
"Amazing Hotel"
Rooms are clean, roomy, and very comfortable. We stay here every time we are traveling to North Carolina. This is the 1/2 way point. You won't be disappointed. Front desk staff are friendly and very accommodating.
"Awesomely awesome "
What a neat hotel! Pet friendly! Very clean, nice room. Great shower with rainfall shower head and double sinks in the bathroom. Good comfortable beds. HOT breakfast. The staff had the dining room set up so you ordered and they handed you your selection. Could not eat in dining room. Nice selection of hot breakfast and other foods including muffins, bagels, fruit and yogurt. Would definitely stay here again!
"Decent Place to Pull off the I-40"
We booked this place for our cross country trip this November. It is pretty handy but I thought just a hair overpriced. Everything was comfy including the king size bed, bathroom and came with a decent size fridge, M/W & TV. I think the value was at around $75/nite.
"Great place "
I do enjoy the Best Western brand this motel staff very friendly and helpful. Check in was easy and I stayed an extra night which was nice, the room spacious king size bed very comfortable has the usual fridge microwave tv wifi etc which was all working as normal. Bathroom large and comfortable even had 2 sinks which you don't see very often. Breakfast was nice they have a lady preparing breakfast for you so much better than the grab n go bags. All in all a great stay and would happily go back again. The location is great as well restaurants all in walking distance
"Pleasant Surprise"
They certainly live up to their reviews. The hotel was clean, friendly and provided a great breakfast to go. It was prepared by someone as you stood safely behind a plexiglass partition. The pool was still running and had some seating available. My favorite part about the room was the double sinks outside of the bathroom. Great when traveling with a friend. Definitely choose this hotel and you won't be disappointed. Easy highway access and many restaurants nearby.

Thank you for your outstanding feedback!! Our entire team will be proud to know you had a pleasant stay and we could meet your expectations. We are glad you enjoyed our breakfast, pool and double sink vanity. We hope you will come back and see us again soon!
"Clean and Friendly"
We were on our way to The Smokey Mountains and stopped at Falls Creek Falls. It got late and we were traveling with our French Bulldog. Lisa at the front desk was working a 12 hour day and was so pleasant and helpful. It was pouring rain and she told us that the Mexican Restaurant in the parking was excellent. Good food and great stay. Lisa is a wonderful associate and you should definitely keep her! Thanks for making our vacation great.

"Best Service"
I have stayed at this hotel many times while visiting the area and have had nothing but great experiences. I plan to stay again and appreciate the kind staff. This hotel has a great location, close to food, drink and shopping.
"best I've ever been to"
I checked in 6/20 and the front desk lady was perfect . friendly and very helpful . then when i got to the room i couldn't believe how nice it was due to the fact how cheap the rate was. very clean (smoking ) big room . it was perfect . i'm from maryland and they don't have smoking rooms so i was extremely happy . there is plenty of us smokers still around and i hope you all never take that option away . after i settled in i decided to try the pool out . again . that was perfect . very clean and refreshing after a long drive. then the next day i checked out i decided to try the breakfast . that had plenty of options and the lady that served me was very sweet and helpful . thank you for making our stay perfect !!!!!
"Pleasant stay ... with a guest appreciation surprise at the end"
This was a typical 10-day road trip I took with my Chocolate Lab Mike. I am often attracted to the Best Western Brand given I figure I'll have a better than 50-50 chance of a pleasant, worry-free stay at a decent price. This property fit that expectation to a tee. But what I was especially impressed was that of the five motel stays on my trip, this was the only property that offered a breakfast -- and a decent hot one, provided "by hand" behind plexiglass. Given by the greeting at checkout and this extra touch with the breakfast, it was clear that the staff was unusually appreciative of my business and proudly served its guests ... finally I felt much appreciated at a motel given the economic impact of the COVID pandemic.
"Thunderbird BW"
The room was spit and polished clean, which in this age of COVID was very important. My last hotel breakfast was a breakfast bar and an apple. This hotel had an option of a bagel or a Jimmy Dean sandwich in addition to a bar or danish. All personnel were helpful and polite
"Best Western Thunderbird "
Clean up to date rooms. Very helpful staff. Tasty breakfast. I would stay there again. Very pleasant. I booked three rooms for family and all of the rooms were very nice. Good location easy to find. Very clean.
"My Favorite Motel"
Always a smiling face and leisurly accommadations. Also, plenty of restuarants/shopping with in walking distance or a short drive. And, right off the interstate(40)! Location to major cities and camping/boating/swimming.
"Just had to get away for the night"
This hotel is very nice and updated hotel staff very friendly and the rooms are very large and clean Its close to everything. Theres a walmart, kroger, dollar general and aldi within 10 min of hotel and pizza hut is just a two minute walk very nice we will be staying again
"Great Place to Stay"
Dont let the on line room shots fool you...this place is nice, looks recently decorated, the staff is friendly and helpful, and its convenient to the interstate and plenty of food options nearby. Would highly recommend this hotel.
"Nice motel"
We don't typically stay at motels but this one won us over. Overall it was a good stay. The staff was friendly, the room was very large and clean. We didn't love that the door opens to the outside but that's a motel for you. With that said it was actually pretty quiet. The only thing we really didn't like was the mattress cover. It was pretty lumpy. Once we got it smoothed our a bit we slept good and the bed was comfortable.
"Great but older bulding"
The staff was above wonderful! They were ready and had everything down to an effeciency that I wish other hotels had. This hotel is old and needs updated but is well worth staying at, unlike the others in town that we have visited. Thank you for your effeciency!!
"Great staff, motel ok"
Late night bookin . Front desk staff was really helpfu . The room was a little dim and could use some updating. And the bathroom door wouldn't close all the way. Other than that a good price for a quick overnight trip.
"Great place to stay!"
We always stay at the Thunderbird when we visit family. The prices are good, the rooms are clean and have been updated, the breakfast choices are great, and the people are helpful and friendly. We have never been disappointed!
"So so"
Overall, my stay was ok. The blankets were too thin and uncomfortable. It's kind of noisy outside at night. However, the room was clean and the staff was polite. I didn't eat the continental breakfast so I'm not sure how it is.
"Football Champion Games"
We couldn't leave our dog at La Quinta while we went to a ballgame after making an early registration there. We were not told this until we checked in. Being very upset we tried to get other rooms and were told most were booked until we checked Best Western. They were so nice and the rooms were just remolded. Clean and updated with great staff. Best Western will be first now.
"Pleasantly Surprised"
We are an older couple helping our last child look at colleges. We have been traveling in the Southeast for the past ten years and have stayed at numerous hotels during this time. We have had good and bad experiences at Best Westerns and had stopped going to them. This was one of the better ones we have stayed at. The hotel is an older motel that has been completely renovated and remodeled. It was nice, clean, and the beds were comfortable. Definitely a great value for the price. My only negative comment is that the shower was not as hot as I like. This hotel has outside entrance to the rooms only. Normally we would avoid that in a larger city.
"very pleased"
Even though this was a free stay for us we were given an excellent 2 room suite. Typical best western amenities thankfully after the last place we were in. This could be a best western plus in my opinion.
"Long Day"
Angie was very helpful on check in & gave us a 1st floor room, which we did appreciate after driving for 11 hours. She also was helpful when asked about the restaurant across the drive way. Lecia was friendly & helpful with a quick check out the following morning.
"Good stay"
Looking for a hotel to spend the evening, we found this Best Western. The facility seems to be a little old but it was comfy and clean. Good beds, pillows and far enough away from the main roads to relax. Restaurant close and close to others in the neighborhood. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again if passing through this area.
"Our Stay in Cookeville, TN"
We were very pleased with our stay at the Best Western Thunderbird Motel in Cookeville, TN. Rooms are being renovated, and we got one of the newly renovated rooms. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who needs a hotel in Cookeville.
"Great stay in Cookville"
Had a one night stay and was suprised to have a living room /bedroom combo with two queen beds.. My mother gets up earlier than me so she had coffee and did her crossword puzzle with the door closed and I slept in.
"Great hotel"
I stayed here couple of times and both were very nice, friendly staff make things better for sure. Go see Rachel at the front desk she was very nice. Also it's located right off the interstate so it was very convenient.
"Cookeville,TN"
Best place to stay when you are in TN. Good price Great food Rooms are great and clean, people at front desk are so great to help you with any question. Good location to get what ever you need if you have to shop.
"Being remodelled"
We stayed here twice in a 10 day period. The first room had been renovated with new tile in bath area. There were still odd issues such as the mirrors above both sinks were crooked. We alerted the desk clerk at check out to this but we thought this type of construction issue would have been fixed. Second time we stayed we were put in a 2nd floor room which had not been renovated. It was clean but I could see why the place was getting an update. This is a pet friendly hotel but the only place to take a dog is all the way to the end of the hotel, in the back which is not ideal for where I want to take my dog in the dark. Complimentary breakfast is pretty sparse.
"Good price"
We usually stay at a Best Western property during our travels across the USA. For the price, this is a very nice property. The rooms can use an updating, but it was OK and comfortable. I would stay here again.
"Terrible Experience Don't Recommend"
My husband and I stayed overnight on a trip cross country. We had our dogs and booked a dog friendly room. Upon entering the room, the smell of animal urine was overwhelming. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It is in a good location, however the pet friendly rooms are carpeted and the carpets smell horrible.
"Best Western Thunderbird Cookeville TN"
Checkin was very smooth. Diamond Select elite status was recognized and room was upgraded. Room was very comfortable. Location is very close to many restaurants and easily accessible from the interstate. Very friendly service and good buffet breakfast.
"Good location, Very nice management"
I stayed in this facility several times and I never had any issue. The Receptionists were always very helpful and nice in the ways they dealt with me. The breakfast is average and could be made better.
"hotel stay"
The outside of the hotel needs an update, but I was surprised that the rooms were actually in really good shape and were clean. We had a really good night sleep after a long day of travel. The breakfast had lots of options and it was really good.
"Great value hotel"
This hotel is older but is nice because it has been completely remodeled. The room was clean. The bathroom is large, and there is a refrigerator and microwave in the room. The breakfast is good with a lot of variety. As a Celiac, I found boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit and Rice Chex that I could eat (many more gluten-free options than the normal hotel). Outdoor pool. Nice value for the money!
"Old motel, but being kept up to date!"
Great motel at a very convenient location! Only one problem! Noise from workers remodeling all the bathrooms! We're supposed to stop at 5:30 p.m., but didn't!!! Excellent choice of restaurants all around! Pool was clean, but old and needs some TLC!
"Long day of travel but this was the right place to stay."
Room was great and clean. There was a Mexican restaurant with hotel and food outstanding. Breakfast here was good and the staff friendly. We had no issues and the price was great because we were in a great location. I-40 travel this is the place to stay.
"Overnight stop"
Very clean and very friendly staff! Breakfast was good as well. Loved the retro bathroom but really loved the double sinks...not something you see in hotels. Room was very spacious. Restaurant on site was great! Highly recommend.
"Nice place at a good price"
Not a new hotel but well maintained. Price is very reasonable and room was clean. Only down side was finding a parking place near dinner time since the hotel shares a parking lot with a restaurant. Breakfast was good and food was hot.
"Remodeling "
Close to interstate and several restaurants. Quite area. Remodeling and updating. Friendly service. Biscuits, eggs, bacon/sausage, oatmeal. Waffles, yogurt and pastries for breakfast. Breakfast area very small, could be bigger. Would return if in the area again. ,
"Great resting area"
This is my fourth stay at this hotel in the last 5 years. Room was large with nice king size bed. Breakfast was amazing and breakfast staff was very friendly. Surrounding area had shops and restaurants. Front desk staff was very professional and friendly.
"Great value"
This is the first time our Best Western hotel room has had a double sink! The rest of the room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Check in with Lisa (?) was quick and easy. Nancy, at breakfast, was really helpful and friendly. Having a good Mexican restaurant on the grounds was a plus. This is a well run hotel and we will return if we are in the area again.
"Above and beyond"
Normally my business trips are somewhat routine, but this wasn't the case on this one. I arrived at the hotel to find an important message from my attorney. I was miles from home and needed a document printed, notarized and returned to the attorney. Angie working nights help me get it printed and assured me if need the document could be faxed. Paul in the morning helped me find a notary and additionally faxed it for me. Both went well above and beyond the call. This is something that is needed. CUSTOMER SERVICE I never take the time to complete this portion of the survey, but in this case I looked forward to completing it.
"EASTER WEEKEND"
Away from home and decided to stay here.My room was very clean.Breakfast was very good and the breakfast area was spotless. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. She sent me across the street for Easter dinner and it was a great place.
"Great stay as always"
Clean, quiet, well maintained. The beds are great. Returned from side trip on Sunday and discovered out tv had no sound. Lady at front desk found a maintenance man who discovered the problem, swapped out our bad tv for a working tv and we were happy campers! We have stayed here before and we will stay here again!
"Great Place to Stay"
This is a great, clean hotel. Near plenty of restaurants. Close to the freeway but quiet. Nice selection of snacks and postcards for sale in the lobby. Highly recommend staying at this best western location!
"Best Western Cookeville"
I have stayed at this location for over a year now and this place is one of the best places I have stayed. I work on the road 50 weeks a year and this is a place I would recommend to any one. The employees (all) go out of their way to help any way they can. GREAT PLACE

Dear Steve Thanks so much for taking the time to express your appreciation for our hotel! We always try to make sure our guests have a good stay. We hope you see us again soon!
"S Ray"
This is an older motel. Each room is entered from outside. It was very clean, comfortable beds, and quiet. The only complaint I have is that the bathtub/shower and sinks back up and were very slow draining. Close to several good restaurants and only .04 mile off I-40.

We thank you for writing us a review here on TripAdvisor! Being an older motel can be trying at times, but as you said we keep our rooms clean and up to date. We are remodeling our bathrooms right now actually! So we hope to try and take care many of these plumbing issues while we remodel. We hope you stop and stay with us again.
"Excellent Attitude, Location and Facilities!!"
Decades ago, I attended Tennessee Technological University (1970!!)!! Re-visited Cookeville a couple months ago, and while many things have changed, The Thunderbird Motel is still there!!! Excellent Location, Friendly Folks and Numerous Re-models (undoubtedly) and Additions; Some Things Remain the Same or Better!! Stayed Three Nights!! Breakfasts were Great and Southern!! Good Restaurant, RIght next door for Dinners. Fine Friendly Folks, All the Way Around. TRY IT!! You'll Love It !!!!

Thank you very much for writing us a wonderful review on TripAdvisor! We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us! Good news is we are doing even more remodeling (bathrooms) this year and we have added some hot items to our breakfast! We hope you come and visit us again soon!
"Pretty good for the price. "
Stayed on a weeknight. What we liked: 1. Large, clean room 2. Comfortable mattress 3. Price 4. Pleasant staff What we didn't like: 1. Noisy guests at night in the walkway when we were trying to sleep. 2. Noisy guests yelling and honking to communicate with each other early in the morning. 3. Puffball pillows. Who actually sleeps with these? 4. Sparse breakfast buffet, but then, the hotel was budget rated, so this is predictable. 5. Noisy heat/AC. It was below freezing during the night, but we had to turn off the heat to get some sleep. We keep two wool blankets in our car 24/7, which we used to keep warm. Other guests likely did not have this luxury. 6. No luggage carts, and elevator is at extreme rear of property. Because of physical difficulties we need both cart and elevator. The elevator was out of order the morning we checked out (we stayed one night). Such a pain. Would we return? No.

"Comfortable room"
We have stayed here before and definitely would stay again. The beds we're comfortable, the water pressure and shower were great! The people at the front desk we're very nice when we checked in and out. The price was reasonable and they allow pets. Just what we needed!

"Stay at the BW Thunderbird motel"
I just stayed at this Best Western. It was a great stay with very fair prices and wonderful staff who are super welcoming and nice. The rooms were also kept very clean and the bed was comfortabel. Overall a great stay.

"Really nice motel all the money the Wi-Fi is good also."
I would stay at this motel again is very clean has a Mexican Restaurant adjacent to the property the Wi-Fi Is really good also the staff is friendly very helpful very courteous. The only downside is it was extremely noisy I think from Local construction.
"weekend get away"
This is an average motel. There is an adequate breakfast with good service. There is also an outdoor swimming pool available. There is also Mexican restaurant on the property wish is convenient. It was raining then when we visited there do the overhead protection was great.
"A Good Find!"
Again, we're just passing through town on our way somewhere else and just needed a place to stay. This was a lucky find. Not only a nice room with good WiFi, comfortable beds, but it had a Mexican restaurant attached. The free breakfast is "Continental."
"Overpriced!!"
It feels like it used to be a lower budget motel, noisy wall unit a/c, smelly carpet and leaky tub faucet, bed was ok but not worth $86 for reward members and the breakfast was average at best and there was no coffee prepared...not good!!
"Wonderful Hotel"
This hotel is a great place to stay. It's very comfortable and the staff are always polite and helpful. Rooms are clean and cozy. I recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through Cookeville or looking for a nice place to stay for a reasonable price.
"Comfy beds"
Getting a good night sleep while traveling is a must. Nice sized room with microwave and fridge. Enjoyed the outside pool. Very friendly front desk. Mexican restaurant across the parking lot was a nice addition.
"AWESOME"
Location was great, staff very welcoming and friendly. Room was clean, bed was very comfortable. Had a great stay. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. And will definitely be staying there again.
"Absolutely perfect!"
I have not one complaint. As a matter of fact, I'll be sure to stay here on my next visit. From checking in to checking out, it was smooth. Room was clean. Had everything I needed. And some good channels on tv!
"Pet stinky not pet friendly"
Traveling with a pet. Paid the extra money for the pet fee. Entered our room after a day of non stop driving and the room smelled. I get we have a dog but I would think you pay the pet fee to use to deodorize the room. Was one of the only reasons we chose this pet friendly hotel. No place to walk the dog either. All parking lot unless you want to head to the very back of the parking lot behind a shed in the dark in a strange place.
"Nice room"
We stayed here because we enjoy Best Western motels. The room was very comfortable with pillow top mattresses, two Tv's and a wet bar. We were on the 3rd floor so it was pretty quiet. The breakfast was about average. They ran out of eggs, so I did not have much to eat as I can not eat carbohydrates. The ice machine by the breakfast was empty early in the morning so I had to drag my cooler back up stairs to get ice. The hotel staff was very friendly and as helpful as they were able to be. Would stay here again but lower my expectations.
"Stayed Here Twice... All Rooms are Definitely Not Equal!"
We traveled cross country and stopped here on our way out and way back. The motel is an older motel but was pleased on our first stay. The motel staff was friendly, our room was on first floor and clean. The lady that handles breakfast was very nice and helpful. On our return visit we were given an upstairs room. The motel staff was again friendly. I was not nearly as pleased with the room that we got on our return visit. I was a little disappointed that we weren't in first floor but that wasn't the real problem. I felt that the carpet was dirty and I avoided walking on it with my bare feet. (This motel is pet friendly, which might be the reason for this dirty carpet.) The bathroom was clean and had green tiles right out of the 1950's. I didn't complaint to Management but probably wouldn't select this motel in the future. It just goes to show that not all rooms are the same... not even at the same motel. Again, I want to complement the breakfast lady who is so nice and friendly.
"What's the fuss?"
I swear some folks just want to complain. This place is what it is. It doesn't try and say it's five star. It's a great, clean, comfortable, affordable motel!! The breakfast is exactly what they advertise. We had no complaints what so ever. And to top it off the staff was super friendly!! And in these days that says a lot!!!
"Tennessee Cookeville Thunderbird rocks"
Ok I am usually not one to stay at a Best Western but I have to say this place was great. First I wanted to mention the lady at the desk was super polite. Even the lady who was serving breakfast was very nice, she even asked if the fresh coffee was weak because she would put another pot on. The breakfast was routine with eggs, waffles and cereal. What made it better is that they had egg sandwiches and Jimmy Dean sausage patties. I was like oh yeah because with kids they can eat. The room might not have been modern but the staff who cleans the rooms really did a great job to keep it really clean. The mattresses were soft the pillows even softer. The bathroom was not right next to the door but towards the back of the room. I saw pink tile but it was clean as a button. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you were going to take on the sights of this wonderful area.
"Great pet friendly motel."
We were a late arrival and as usual our room was ready and waiting. It is great to have a place where your pets are welcome. We have stayed at this hotel twice yearly as we transit between homes. They have always been very accommodating.
"Smelly room"
The room I stayed in smelled like cat urine. When I informed the front staff of the odor, I was given a room freshener spray which only helped temporarily. The air condirioner in the room was noisy and never turned off. I would have requested another room, but it was the only handicapped room with a roll in shower.
"Good place to stay"
Helpful friendly staff and clean comfortable rooms. Staff was professional and yet made us feel at welcomed. Location was right off interstate and easy to find. There where many restaurants in close walking distance of hotel.
"Won't stay there again"
Very noisy at night. Internet was awful! Motorcycles in the middle of the night waking us up. Internet was the worst I have ever experienced. You could not stay connected and it was slower than the led dialup! Not a good experience!
"none"
not good when the receptionist books your room and has already booked it to other guest. the breakfast is also not good at all, the danishes are hard and and no meat protein available or cups big drink
"Great motel"
This motel is a perfect mid trip stop from west to east Tennnessee. Is has a good restaurant on the property and several others all within s 5 mins by car. A very helpful staff and a nice, large, seaonal pool.
"Nice Motel; Friendly Service"
The room was clean; the bed was very comfortable; location is good, restaurants are close (one is across from the check in area); breakfast was more continental than "hot." The motel is large with ample parking.
"Nice Hotel"
The room was very good. Everything was clean and very well kept. The staff was very helpful. The hotel was located near multiple options for eating and at a good location to take a short walk. The only issue was the exercise equipment could have been in better shape.
"On the road again"
This was an older motel, but it was very clean and well kept. Loved the double sinks in the bathroom! We were on the ground floor facing the parking lot. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was really quiet. We didn't have the breakfast due to our schedule. We would definitely stay here again!
"Friendly desk staff adds a star."
The thunderbird is your typical motel room. Beds and pillows are good. Most of the rooms have ok air quality and they are tidy and neat. The thing that gets the thunderbird it's 4th star comes from the people that work the front desk and breakfast service. Front desk always make sure that I'm signed up for the recent promotions and have realistic tips for places to eat. The breakfast staff are chatty and up to date about events around town. Much better then listening to the news. My elderly parents live in the area and I stay at the thunderbird whenever I'm in town. Its not opulent but its a solid/safe stay.
"Great! Clean!"
We had been staying in hotels for a whole week some ok some not so good this hotel was great and so clean! Staff was wonderful when we arrived friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was clean!! No mold in bathroom at all floor was clean of hair. This hotel had beef kept up with some of its original tile in bathroom and it looked great. If we drive cross country again we would stay there. Thanks!!
"Stay here!"
This Best Western exceeded my expectations. Room rates seemed low for the area and hotel staff was very friendly. My room (121) was very clean. All rooms have exterior doors like a typical motel. There are many breakfast items to choose from such as pancakes, fruit, yogurt, pastries, bagels and oatmeal. During my stay the hot water was shut off to be worked on but a gentleman called to let me know and when I said I was on my way to the shower he actually waited for me to finish. He called back to make sure I was done and then started his work. I'm so pleased with my stay here. I will definitely stay here again, without hesitation.
"Older, but clean and well worth the stay."
This is an older hotel in Cookeville, but you can tell they have tried to update it. I requested a room close to the office due to traveling alone and was able to get one very close to the office. The younger dark haired female desk clerk was extremely nice to me! (I'm sorry I don't remember her name.) The room was very clean and comfortable. I was able to get a decent rate on my room compared to other hotel rates in the area. The doors are exterior doors and I was able to park right in front of my door. When I checked out, the older blond haired lady was wonderful to talk to as well. I would stay here again.
"Thunderbird"
Love staying at this location, clean rooms, affordable suites, and restaurant right across from lobby. The staff go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. During the summer pool is nice to relax by. It is also close to everything in town.
"Super great hotel"
I have stayed in hundreds of hotels-- this was one of my favorite rooms-- ever! The Mexican rest-- El Tapatio connected to hotel was awesome. Clean rooms, quiet heaters, comfortable beds-- nice breakfast layout--
"This place needs a up date"
The Restraunt was the best part of this stay. Food was very good but the service turned bad waitress left and no one checked on me, after 20 mins another brought my check. Staff in motel either was new or was just putting in their time.
"Get what you pay for -"
The front desk folks were very nice, the room was okay but had a musty smell. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and there was a big round dark stain on the chair. Other than these things the room was clean and in working condition. I wouldn't personally stay again but someone that's just looking for a place to pass out might not mind it.
"Always a nice stopover"
We try to stay at this location when we travel east. It's reliable and comfy. The beds are the best. The rooms are clean. There are places to eat close by but the Mexican place within walking distance works for lunch or dinner. I'd recommend this location.
"Last minute stay"
The staff is friendly and helpful, rooms are clean and it is a great value. We didn't do any research or look at reviews so it was the luck of the draw and it was a win. I would recommend this hotel!!!
"Made a College Grad's family very happy..."
My son was graduating from Tennessee Tech University with his Bachelor's Degree and family had traveled from Chattanooga, TN. to both move him out while he attended Rehearsal and then to chill-ax in our 2 Queen with micro/frig rooms both on bottom floor due to parties traveling with us were disabled and had a small dog accompanying them. During my son's time at TTU my family, friends, and I have stayed at the BWThunderbird i Cookeville, TN many times and different rooms yet all the rooms we were given were clean, comfortable accommodations and nice tv with internet. Staying Dec 15 - 17 2017 was very peaceful and made my son's and our special event unforgettable. Nothing went wrong and the hotel was wonderful. Thank you for making my son's years at TTU the most memorable especially his last visit for a while. To all of the employee members of this hotel thank you for your generous hospitality and for making this trip so memorable.
"Disappointing"
Stayed here because of the high ratings. Room was noisy (from parking lot, heater and fridge). TV didn't work in first room. Nice Staff moved me to another room. Breakfast staff nice, but food mediocre. Would not stay here again.
"Great stay!"
Convenient, great staff, rooms, and amenities. Would have stayed for breakfast, but had to be back on the road pretty early. A great stay overall. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in this area.
"Friendly Staff, Clean Room, Nice Stay"
I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. When we opened the door, a fresh, clean, scent met us before we even walked into the room. The bed was comfortable. Our stay was pleasant. I recommend this motel.
"Very homey!"
We have stayed here for years when we visit our grandchildren. The breakfast ladies are so nice. One makes homemade cookies and brings them in. Last year when she knew we were there, she put cookies aside for us for breakfast! We look forward to seeing them again. Rooms are clean, staff is great and it's always like coming home!
"Relaxing"
Although it was a quick stay to break up a 16 hour drive, I always find Best Western convenient and clean. It's good to know all I have to do is check in on Google to find the nearest location when I need it and have the room reserved over the phone.
"Jewel in middle Tennessee"
Great place to stop between Knoxville and Nashville. Really good staff and centrally located to a dozen excellent restaurants within three miles and a couple within walking distance. Wal-Mart is just up the street. Great pool.
"Passing through"
Our stay was simply a place to sleep while traveling so it was ok. The bed was comfortable and it was clean. The decor was dated, the breakfast simple items, good coffee and the staff wanted to please. The entrance is terrible and the signage could be better.
"Very clean!!!"
We stayed here for one night while traveling. You would be hard pressed to find a cleaner hotel room. The bed was comfortable. The double sinks were a nice surprise. The rooms open to the outside which I don't normally like but it was very quiet and I felt safe. The lobby staff were very friendly both at night and in the morning. The breakfast was a little disappointing but understandable for the rate. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
"Lovely stay!!!!"
What a nice retreat after a long day on the road! Found ourselves in dense fog, tired and needing to rest. Had a free night with BW points but I'd have gladly paid to stay here! Front Desk lady, Lecia, made me feel right at home! Our king room was super clean, roomy and had a long counter with granite and DOUBLE SINKS!! Shower had great water pressure. It still has its "retro" feel but been updated a lot. The breakfast lady made us feel like we were at Grandma's and the Front Desk guy this morning, Brad, I think, was super friendly and helpful. Wish that I could find hotels like this all along our travels!
"Another great example of why we make Best Western's our first choice"
We wound up in Cookeville at the end of another road tripping day - spotted the Best Western just off the hiway exit - room was available - and very reasonably priced.. The staff here are great - super friendly, helpful. Room was large, well laid out and clean - very well kept. I could not tell if the aqua green bathroom tiles were new retro style, or quite old - was told the latter - around 40 years old but they could be taken for almost new ! Large clean parking lot - you can park in front of your room door. There is a Mexican restaurant adjoining the parking lot - super convenient, great food/service and very well priced. There are others within walking distance including what looked like a great steak house. The included breakfast was great, and the lady managing the breakfast area was a delight to speak with, and attentive to every detail. When we left - it was a matter of two quick turns onto the entry ramp and we were back on the highway heading for Nashville.
"Great stay here"
This motel was excellent! The room was like a resort with clean carpet, good bed, double sink at the bathroom, comfortable decor. The breakfast was good, with the usual fare, plus delicious cinnamon bread.
"Property Couldn't Be Better BW App No So Much "
As a seasoned business traveler, Hilton Diamond member, I travel small towns all over the south. This property is has it all. In addition to the basics, reasonable price, personable clerk, clean, basic breakfast and functional HVAC and WIFI it as a bonus of walking distance restaurants, external doors to back up so I can work out of the car. Everything works in the room; no burned out light bulbs. Great volume of hot water in showers, comfortable beds. Only issue I had was the BW booking process through the app. I couldn't get it to work properly. Logged in to my account several times, entered all info and had to go back. You have my address WHY do I have to put in what COUNTRY and STATE I'm in?! Let's you get all the way to the end and go back and re-enter again. On top of that it wouldn't take my Corp MC Card. Had to call hotel directly to reserve room. I guess the ease of the Hilton App has spoiled me. Get the BW app up to date and more user friendly and you get a five and more visits from me. All in all this location is GREAT!
"Just perfect"
what a great Best Western.. nice rooms, good breakfast which included Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches.. regular and turkey sausage, regular and whites only egg. I like rooms with exterior doors when only staying a night or two... easy luggage schlepping ... The woman who manages the breakfast is a total joy!. Beds and TV very good.. and the bathtub is clean enough to actually take a real bath ... not just a shower... nice.
"Great value in Cookeville, TN"
We have stayed at rhis property in the past and it was good... Seems to have been renovated since that stay so it is even better now... Very clean, comfortable bed and quiet... Very reasonable rates...
"Great property.. Motorcycle friendly. Priced fairly"
Clean rooms. Friendly staff. Motorcycle friendly. Decent Mexican restaurant on site. I will stay again. This is my third time using this hotel while traveling . Beds were comfy. Clean bathrooms. My only complaint was Internet wasn't working very well one of the days I was there.
"Best Western"
My 3-day stay at the Best Western Thunderbird Motel, Cookeville, TENNESSEE was extremely, very nice Hotel and employees where great specially the lady who maintained the breakfast - dinning room area was absolutely great.
"Excellent choice, as usual"
When it is Parent Weekend at Tech, we always stay here. Perfect location, great food next door at El Tapitio, quiet nice rooms, clean environment, great hotel staff. Prices are comp in area. Safe environment.
"Great Place to Rest an Recharge"
This was my second stay at BW Thunderbird in Cookeville Tennessee, and both stays were excellent. The Staff is courteous and accommodating, there is an excellent restaurant adjacent to the motel and others in short walking distance. All in all a great place to rest and recharge before traveling onward.
"Visiting grandchildren"
Arrived early afternoon and room was ready. Went out to visit and came back late and a roach was on the side of the bed. Killed it and notified office. Room was sprayed next morning. Came back that night and room wasn't made up. Had to get clean towels from office. Next morning someone had removed do not disturb plackard. Next day found placard on ground. Don't know if it was kids or the wind blowing it off handle. Hotel is in walking distance of fast food and close to restaurant row which had every kind of restaurant you would want. Two blocks from Wal-mart. Very easy access to I-40. Good location. All problems were taken care of ASAP.
"Drive to Door"
This is a “drive to the door” motel (if you get first floor that is)!! We had lots and lots of space in our king room (it had a full size sofa) and we found everything to be nice and clean and bright. We couldn't help but notice a very musty smell upon entry into our first floor room. The smell wasn't noticeable after a few minutes but you would notice it again after you left for a few minutes. Perhaps there is a moisture problem?? It is also very apparent that a major room model happened recently but that remodel did not include changing out the bathroom tile. The tile is in good shape so I can understand why they didn't change it but the tile is also very, very dated….it is a 50s style pink!! Tat was certainly a surprise! The bed was comfortable enough (the sheets were a little rougher than I prefer but the pillows made for a bad sleep. The pillows were miserable - filled with lumpy “peanuts” of foam that I desperately pushed around in order to make a nice nest to lay my head (my mistake for not bringing my down pillow). We had four pillows on our bed and each one was equally miserable. Breakfast was strictly continental but they did have Jimmy Dean sandwiches that you could microwave. A very nice lady microwaved mine to perfection. The coffee was on the weak side for my taste and the juices all seemed watered down but I know juice is expensive. With the price point I really can't complain too much about the juice. The coffee could be improved easily though. We did not eat there but the motel is right next door to a Mexican restaurant that seemed popular. There is even a protected canopy from the hotel's lobby to the restaurant.
"Road Warrior Approves"
I am a 50,000 mile/year salesman. I RARELY take the time to review a domestic hotel. This Best Western is a GREAT find. I ALWAYS stay here even if it means 45-60 minutes more travel for my next day sales calls. Rate is reasonable.....they accept CLC. CLEAN....CLEAN....CLEAN rooms. NOT noisy but still close to interstate 40 exit. EXCEPTIONALLY COURTEOUS staff.
"Nice hotel"
Our car broke down in Tennessee. Found this Best Western. It was very clean especially for a pet friendly hotel. Bathrooms and carpet was updated. Hotel was quiet in the evening. Had a nice Bowl breakfast in the morning.
"My daughters wedding"
Stayed here for 12 days. Nice place. Heated pool would have been nice since the weather for august was on the cool side and grandkids wanted to swim. Room setup is nice with two sinks and separate restroom.
"Good Value...."
We were upgraded to a King Suite which more than meet our needs. What was billed as a continental breakfast actually turned out to be much much more and we were quite satisfied with the offerings as well as the service provided.
"Muddy Boots"
Stayed here for the 2017 Muddy Roots Festival. These folks were so kind and accommodating. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Would see recommend to anyone who isn't a snob and is on a budget. We came back rowdy and filthy and they still took care of us with a smile. Cant say enough good and Rose always made breakfast a pleasure. Would definitely recommend to anyone I personally know.
"August 2017 Trip"
Everything was in Excellent order. Because of Eclipse day 8/21, I had to book a higher priced room since I waited to close(5 days) to book. My fault. A good nights sleep. Thank you. Everything the same on the return trip, 8/28. I don't swim so I didn't use the pool, I go to Shoney's next door for breakfast so I didn't use the breakfast bar.
"There are better"
The staff was a little harried upon arrival. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, slept well. In the morning went for breakfast and the room was full with people lined up outside. I waited twenty minutes then walked up the street and had breakfast. When I returned the cleaning staff had already cleaned my room and my iPad and charger has run off....I had not yet checked out. This place wasn't worth the hassle.
"Cookeville TN sleepover"
This is probably the best value in Cookeville. There are cheaper establishments, but this is most bang for buck. Parking can be an issue if you show during dinner hour. Parking lot is shared with a popular restaurant, and many construction workers and trailers use the motel. These two things combined can make parking a challenge from 6-8 PM. But before 6, or after 8 - you're good to go and it's quiet, peaceful, and sits up high - there's actually a bit of a view here. Tennessee has RIDICULOUSLY HIGH motel taxes, and a fair amount is determined by the counties themselves. To save money and send a message, I prefer the Best Western Newport Inn just to the east of this if you intend to travel to the Smokies - Hotel taxes are less in that county.
"nothing special"
This motel is the quintessence of average. I think the rate was a little high for the amenities. My guess is, room rates were inflated due to the motel location for viewing the solar eclipse. The big plus for this Best Western is the close access to the i40.
"Best inexpensive stay in town"
I checked in after 1am and didn't have to use the jail window. The property is REALLY long, tons of rooms. Looks to be an older property that has been well taken care of. Room was a nice size with modern decor. I didn't care for the desk/work area as it was just 2 chairs you couldn't adjust and a round table. HUGE TV with a good channel lineup. My room had DOUBLE sinks, which I had never seen in a hotel. Shower/toilet area were nice as well, with solid water pressure & temperature control. Bed & Pillows were comfy. WiFI worked fairly well. Ice machine was only on the 1st floor it seemed. Not too much noise, but I did hear the kids at the pool on day 3. Hotel is near just about everything you need and easy to find, plenty of parking with an attached Mexican restaurant that was very busy on Sunday. With most of the options being over $100 a night, this fit right in my budget.
"Consistent Quality"
We have stayed at this hotel a few times over the last 10 years and we can always expect the same great level of service. Angie at the front desk is warm, friendly and professional. I highly recommend this hotel for weary travelers.
"Excellent Best Western"
Have stayed here as my wife and I travel through Tennessee on our many travels from NC to Ark. We make it a point to stop in Cookeville to stay at the Thunderbird. Never disappointed!! All the staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms always clean. Breakfast is great and the price is RIGHT!!! Absolutely don't miss out on the excellent Mexican restaurant right on the premises..
"Home away from home! "
This is the very best hotel this picky traveler couple has stayed in! Clean clean clean! A lovely room and excellent accommodations even to the smallest details. Top notch staff. Wonderful free breakfast. Mexican Jalisco cuisine on site is unbeatable in every way. Location is perfect. Room rate amazing! The exterior room entry was very very nice, too. Plenty of great safe parking right outside our room. We felt totally secure. Could have paid more elsewhere & gotten far less. Husband & I were thrilled with our stay. Wow! Thunderbird Best Western is what a hotel should be!
"Stop on vacation"
Great place to stay , right off the highway. Rooms are clean , checking in service was easy. Morning breakfast was typical. I would stay again. Parking was good. And there is a great Mexican restaurant next door.
"Easy and Comfortable"
This hotel was very clean and check-in and check-out were quick and easy. The lady at the desk during check-in was very friendly and helpful. I was definitely impressed and would stay here again if traveling through Cookeville.
"Good value for the money"
Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast had plenty of options. Staff seemed genuinely concerned that our stay be a good one. Room had a slight odor but was one of their pet friendly rooms. Bed was comfortable and room was quiet.
"Mr Saxton"
Lovely hotel. Great facilities just badly run.adult terrace full of children day and night. If you want a sun loungers you'll need to be up before seven. Bar staff lovely but poor knowledge. Food is only average. Service is great. Nightly entertainment is really poor advise ear plugs ...
"good location - good price"
This hotel has a good location to get a feel for Cookeville and the surrounding area. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms are large and this is the first hotel that I have stayed in, that had a double vanity.
"Great night's rest"
I checked in at 12:30 pm and did not have to wait til 2 pm like most motels. The staff was friendly and there was a Mexican restaurant next to the motel. The bed was extremely comfortable and the place was well lit.
"Despite its age, super staff & facility!"
Very well maintained, clean & comfortable. Staff was incredible, so pleasant, friendly & helpful. Our room was very quiet despite being busy. Our dinner at the Mexican restaurant attached was absolutely delicious!! Breakfast offered an interesting variety. We would definitely stay there again
"Kicking back"
I enjoy this BW. The staff is friendly and helpful when needed. The restaurant is very good. Easy access in and out with easy to reach other destination. The laundry facility is convenient as well. Will stay here again.
"Best Western Cookeville,Tenn"
very friendly and beautiful place to visit we were just passing through but area is very beautiful and people very friendly. Motel is not far off of interstate so easy to get to and get back on the interstate
"Vacation to the falls!"
If you're looking for a place to stay, this hotel will not disappoint, and we're pretty picky. Very clean, pool very nice, breakfast stocked, and Rose is amazing and we made a friend for life. Front desk very helpful, very friendly. We even talked to the Mrs. We can't say enough great things. It's a place we would definitely visit again. Rooms was clean. Bed was comfy. We had the king suite with jacuzzi tub. The Mexican restaurant was great too. We give it a 10
"Great service and great facility!"
This was the last night of an 2,650 mile 8 day trip for my wife and myself. It was by far the best motel we stayed in on the entire trip. The staff was great as well as the entire facility. The location was convenient to I-40, restaurants, downtown Cookeville and Tennessee Technological University.
"Good place to stay"
I was very pleased at the service I received at this motel. The staff were very helpful, the room are very clean and neat. I found that the location was easy to fine. I would recommend this motel as a place to stay to anyone.
"Comfort for Price"
This hotel has comfortable beds and was clean. The lady at the front desk who checked us in could use some training. The gentleman who checked us out was very nice, friendly, and helpful. Overall would stay again.
"Old and New"
This is the old style motel where you park right in front of your room which is great for bringing luggage into your room. However that means there are inside no corridors and no elevator. Because of a leg problem I requested in advance a first floor room which was not available at check-in about 6:00pm. The breakfast are was small but clean.
"Great week away"
Excellent pools for kids, very clean as just been refurbished, staff were friendly location good close to train station and beach worth a trip to Barcelona only 9.50 euro return. Resort itself is small therefore definitely take advantage of train service along the coast to other resorts. Cannot fault the staff or hotel in anyway great for families especially younger children, daughter aged 7 had a great time
"Worst best bestern"
This property is old but clean. If your a diamond member. And pay with a corporate account. You don't get upgrades and points. Have traveled the 48 lower states and Canada. Never been refused. Greed has taken over honor on this property. If you stay here. Ask for a price match. My rate including taxes.$61.83 . Will not return.
Thunderbird01, Manager at Best Western Thunderbird Motel, responded to this review
Hello Andrew, Thank you for for leaving a review and saying our property is clean. We take great pride in making sure our rooms are as clean as we can make them for our guests. We enjoy having CLC and we do give points on CLC stays According to Best Western, it is up to each property if they wish to give points and other reward bonuses to any corporate account like CLC, CLS, etc. Our lowest rate now is 88 plus taxes, which with taxes is $40 more than we get from CLC customers. This is for a two queen room. When we have it available, we do give an upgrade to CLC to our standard King rooms, which are 93 plus taxes. Let us not forget as well that free upgrades to BW rewards members are based on availability. The night you stayed with us was Saturday night which was a busy night for us. So really any member on a night like that probably wouldn't get a free upgrade as we did not have many rooms left. I did noticed that your past two reviews were of other Best Westerns that also did not give you a free upgrade. This wasn't the first time were refused so you must have known that free upgrades for CLC isn't normally done. Maybe this is why when our front desk person explained why we couldn't upgrade CLC members to a suite you immediately threatened to call and complain to BW. Thank you for being a Diamond rewards member and I hope that you will remember that hotels are a business too. We love our guests who return often and we try and give upgrades and other nice things to our BW Rewards members. However, we need to be able to pay our employees and our bills so we can continue to offer a nice place to stay to all of our guests.
"Great Experience"
We stay here every time we are in the area. It is always a good uncomplicated easy place to stay! The rooms are clean, and the staff is helpful and friendly. We love the breakfast and the pool. Even the dog has a good time.
"Disappointed"
We usually choose Best Western because of the value received, clean rooms & quality of service. Were very disappointed, while realizing that the hotel was older did not live up to the standards that are usually present when choosing Best Western- Did not feel safe or clean-check out comment above regarding the floors. Will probably not choose to stay with this brand any longer.
"Fine for a night"
Stayed one night on a road trip. Had a second floor room. There was only one elevator and it was way at one end of a very long building. Room was pretty spacious. Two sinks were nice. Room was clean. Breakfast was pretty meager; breakfast staff was courteous and attentive. Good, basic place to stop for a night.
"Pricing"
Had a coupon for 50 bucks and it was still gonna be lower the 60 total. And days Inn is In the Wyndham rewards program. Didn't end up staying there though for other reasons. I love the rewards program, I just can't want till I actually got a free night out of it

Hello, It seems like you meant to post this review for the Days Inn. I went ahead and reported this as just a mistake. Perhaps next time you are in Cookeville you will decide to stay with us here at the Best Western. Thank you
"Adequate"
An adequate Best Western with antiquated bedroom linen - old style blankets. They accept dogs which is great but there is limited place to walk them. The Mexican Restaurant on the premises, however, is fantastic!
"hotel stay"
The best value and great stay. My family and I enjoyed the pool and breakfast. This hotel has the best location. Staff were great. My family has been staying at the Best Western Thunderbird in Cookville for at least 30 years. w
"great place to stay"
economical, friendly/helpful staff, clean rooms. stayed here twice in the last four months. comfortable beds. easy access to interstate. nearby dining. i'm writing this sentance to complete the twoo hundred mininum characters
"Excellent"
was a great clean & pleasant place. Excellent breakfast, pool area & staff was great. Would stay here again. In fact we have stayed here before. Convenient to I-40. Lots of restaurants near by as well.
"Exceptional Staff (particularly Rose) and Experience "
We are extremely happy with our room and while having coffee in the lobby, we met Rose. Rose is a "seasoned" lady that runs the breakfast area, she is the essence of southern hospitality and we were blessed to meet her. We will stay here again on our next visit to the area.
"Billed one price charged another"
Live and learn billed one price charged another pretty disappointed. Also asked about discount in magazine was told they don't honor that price because they weren't suppose to be in magazine. Crazy but true.

Thank you for leaving a review. I do hope your stay in general was a good one. Because you also left a survey for us through Best Western I was able to look at your reservation. You were given the AAA discount for your stay with us. A lot of times people misread our receipt when it comes to the discount. The top line is our regular rate and right below that is the discount, then the taxes. Please remember that each Best Western is independently owned and every property is going to have different rates and some different discounts (AAA and AARP/Senior is the same 10% off at all Best Westerns). Because rates are determined by location, property type and other factors, we cannot honor any discount that is for another Best Western. If you wish to discuss this further, feel free to call me. Our phone number will be on your receipt. Thank you, Paul
"A pleasant pet-friendly motel"
We travel cross-country with our two small dogs twice a year, and like Best Westerns for their consistently pet-friendly policy and good value. A nice feature of the Thunderbird is the Mexican restaurant on the premises--the food and the sangria were very tasty. We also enjoyed the swimming pool, exercise room, and laundry facilities.
"My Stay at Best Western"
I cannot say enough about staying at a Best Western Hotel. Every where I have stayed from the check in to check out the staff have been very helpful and courteous. I am a truck driver and the hotels I stay have truck parking which is a plus! Wouldn't stay anywhere else!
"Okay for the money"
This Best Western is okay for the money; nothing great, but clean and quiet. The rooms have been updated with new carpet and decor, which helps spruce up the old-style motel, with the pool across the parking lot, and undersized breakfast room, and access from the outside. It's worth a stay, for sure, just don't be expecting a modern Hampton Inn or something along those lines.
"Great place"
My first time to cookeviile tenn a friend of mine told me about the thunderbird motel was not sure at first because of it being a motel but what a great surprise it was very very nice very clean rooms are big and very clean it was close to everything restaurants and stores staff was very friendly I told them if I was to come back to tenn I would definitely come there to stay and the price was excellent !!

"Business Trip"
I usually stay a maximum of 7 nights when I go up to TN for work. The Best Western has always had a friendly staff, the rooms are clean and I can pretty much walk to everything. The pool is a little weird, being in the middle of the parking lot, where everyone going into the restaurant right there looks right at you. Maybe they should put up a privacy fence!! That would make a big difference.
Thunderbird01, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Thunderbird Motel, responded to this review
Thank you for writing us such a great review here on TripAdvisor! Your comments regarding the pool will be considered. We are happy to hear that you had a nice stay with us. Come and see us again soon!
"Rude staff"
The hotel rooms themselves are fine. Staff is rude and not helpful at all. Hopefully you don't have a specia request, because they will not care nor be helpful in your situation. I will never stay here again. LaQuinta Inn in Cookeville will get my business. I had other family stay there and the staff and service is exceptional.

"Family Visit in Cookeville, TN"
The Best Western Thunderbird Motel is a nice, older, well-maintained motel for the value. The staff are very courteous and attentive. There is also a very good Mexican restaurant attached to the motel!

"Wise choice in Cookeville"
We debated whether to stay at the Best Western or one of the other chains. When our other choice would not match the price on their own website, we decided to try the Best Western, and we are so glad we did. We got a true suite: 2 separate rooms, with a door in between and nice big windows in each room. I can't remember the last time I had 2 big windows, facing east and west, in a motel. We had two queen beds, very comfortable. Everything was clean, the room was quiet, the convector worked well & without noise, the shower was great, and we had nice views from each window with plenty of light. The front desk staff were helpful and the woman who checked us in moved us from the first room, which looked out on a wall on one side. We were in the part of the hotel that has 3 stories and there's an elevator there, so no lugging bags up the stairs. We were pleased with the exterior corridor which enabled us to leave the door slightly open to get fresh air (windows were sealed as in most other hotels in Tennessee). Breakfast was ok, but no oatmeal except in flavored packets. My husband said the waffle pancakes were the best he's had at any motel, and he has tried it everywhere; better than the regular waffles or the regular pancakes served elsewhere. We were really pleased with this hotel and hope we can get one of these excellent rooms the next time we visit Cookeville.

"District Antique Show"
Very nice and quiet hotel with friendly staff. Very helpful with the rooms and the breakfast help was beyond great. Convenient to many restaurants and coffee shops. Clean rooms, Will definately stay there again. Great value for the rates
"Easy access."
Convenient, great location, clean room and comfortable beds. The bathroom was dated with pink and white tile, mismatched with yellow paint. But the shower was hot and everything was in good working order.

We thank you for writing us a review here on TripAdvisor! Our property is constantly undergoing renovations in order to keep everything up to date, so maybe you'll have some different colors in the room during your next stay. Aside from aesthetics, I'm really glad you had a nice stay with us! We hope you'll come see us again!
"Awesome fest stop and city"
Awesome hotel and city. Highly recommend very nice hotel with Mexican restaurant across from registration office. Staff treats you like family. Plenty of stores and restaurants in the area. Room was outstanding and very quiet. Highly recommend this place for a nice rest.

"Best Western Thunderbird Motel"
This motel has excellent military discount. Kudos for that. The suite I stayed in was one of the nicest suites I've ever stayed in. It had more accommodations then I needed. I would definitely stay there again.

Dear Lisa, We thank you for your service and we're happy that you were satisfied with your discounted rate! And also, thanks for the compliment on our suites! We hope to see you again soon!
"Excellent!"
Check in was a bit slow, but staff was helpful! The room was wonderful! Two queen beds, spacious room, double vanity and a toilet that wasn't pushed against a wall or tub! Very roomy! The only issue, the tub drained very slowly. Beds were comfy with good linens and no stains. Plenty of towels that were fluffy and had no stains. WiFi was good and we were able to stream movies and check emails. Plenty of parking. Room had fridge & microwave as well. We really enjoyed our stay! It was a very comfortable room! We'd love to stay again. On site Mexican restaurant was convenient, but kind of bland. Always seemed busy.
"Thunder of a semi in the parking lot"
Stayed at the Thunderbird for 1 night on a road trip through KY. The room was clean and fine in itself, wifi good and breakfast as expected. So why a 1 star review? The presence of a refrigerated semi in the parking lot running all evening and into the night. I inquired at the desk and was told this truck was a regular weekly visitor who is allowed to park his truck there while he sleeps till 2am to drive off, and since it is refrigerated needs to stay running. The motel is laid out in an L shape with room doors facing the narrow parking lot with this truck parked in the middle, so the noise is loud, inescapable and unacceptable. And the motel is not cheap. If this is the policy of this motel and/or BW to allow this sort of thing on a regular basis, I would not recommend staying here unless you like sleeping at a truck stop.
"Clean and Comfortable "
We arrived at the hotel very late after 5 hours of driving. Our room was ready, check was quick and easy. The room was very clean and smelled clean. The continental breakfast was very nice. They offered several different juices, coffee, milk, water, and almond milk. Among the breakfast foods were: oatmeal bar, pancakes, muffins, bagels, cereal, and Jimmy Dean frozen breakfast sandwiches. I will definitely consider staying here again when I'm in Cookeville. Oh and a big bonus is the hotel is pet friendly too!!
"Convenient Location"
We stayed here overnight on a cross country trip from Los Angeles to Asheville, North Carolina. The room was clean and a good value. The Location was great with a good Mexican restaurant attached to the hotel so we didn't have to leave the property for dinner. If you don't like Mexican, there are numerous restaurants very close to the hotel as well. The breakfast offered by the hotel was average and left a lot to be desired, but there is a Krispy Kreme right across the street which is where we stopped on our way out of town!
"Cool name "
With a name like Best Western "Thunderbird" motel how could you go wrong... Awesome name average motel. So this hotel gets a 3 star rating but it's a motel. Crown plazas, Double trees, Hilton garden inn etc. get 3 star ratings this is a 2 star hotel. I have no real complaints though for what it is. Friendly staff. Nice enough fitness room. Plenty of parking. Outdated but clean rooms. If you are stopping for a night this works any longer go to a better hotel.

"Great place for the price"
Had a great stay at this property. The staff was very helpful and outgoing. The rooms were immaculately clean. While this motel may be a little older, it is up-to-date and well-kept. Also it was very quiet during our stay.
"Awesome Rooms and Great Customer Service"
What a wonderful experience! This was our first time to Cookeville,TN and Thunderbird Motel. We were there. For Tiny House Roadshow. What a wonderful time we had. The rooms were fabulous. The room was very spacious and had two sinks. Hotel was in a perfect location with plenty of restaurants and stores around. The staff was fabulous especially the lady who was handling the breakfast. Totally worth the price. And pet friendly a major plus

Dear Shalayne, Thank you very much for writing us a wonderful review on TripAdvisor! We are glad you liked the rooms so much and you are right about our breakfast attendants; they are worth their weight in gold if I do say so myself! Hope to see you again soon!
"Skeptic turned impressed "
I was very hesitant about staying here but being part of a team that decided this so the place we would stay at, did not have a lot of options. I ended up being very impressed! It was nice and clean. The breakfast was not fancy but had decent options. I would definitely come here again! The price was an added positive!
"Thanksgiving Trip Home"
I live in Arlington, TX and drive to Maryland to see my 92-year-young mom on a 6-7 week basis. The Best Western Thunderbird hotel is a little over halfway and convenient for a stop. The staff is wonderful and the bed awesome! I usually ask and get my favorite room. I recommend this hotel, especially to those who like Mexican food because there is a buffet restaurant across the parking lot! What's not to like??!!

"Business"
Motel is well kept, very good Mexican restaurant next door and shopping options were close and plentiful. For summer stays, it offered a great pool. Staff was very helpful regarding directions and tips on eating.

Stay here when i am back in the country and working on my property. I enjoy the staff and service I am offered. The convenience of the hotel to places to eat and all around needs is great. Tired of writing but needed 12 characters

"Clean / Comfy Bed / Needs Updating"
we only stayed at this hotel overnight after we flew in from Vegas to Nashville on our way home to east TN.....all we did was sleep.....the bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean.....it did have a stale smell and needed to be aired out, also the whole motel needs redecorating.....the staff was attentive and professional.....the breakfast area is located in the small lobby and seemed to be cramped, we checked out before they served.....OK place to get some sleep while traveling on your journey....

Dear Connie, We thank you for writing us a review here on TripAdvisor. I do apologize for you having an issue with an odor in the room. I'm not sure if you let our front desk clerk know about it, however we would have gladly let you switch rooms if we had one available. We are constantly renovating and redecorating our hotel to keep our guests happy and we hope you come back and see some of the changes.
"Excellent stay"
Very friendly staff, close by to Cummings falls. Lots to nearby. Kids had fun in the pool, other guest were also very friendly. Clean and welcoming environment. Room was a little small, but everyone slept well, and had waffles for breakfast. No complaints.

"Average at best"
Cookeville BW is on the out skirts of Nashville....so depending if you are going east or west the advantage of saying there is improved or decreased. the hotel is average, not aging gracefully. The breakfast area and selection is poor - there is a Mexican Rest. next door so that saves walking after check in...- food OK nothing special. We opted for McDonalds for breakfast,,,coffee and options were better....probably only stay there again if in a tight pinch. Have stayed there three times previously and it is not getting any better.
Thunderbird01, Guest Relations Manager at BEST WESTERN Thunderbird Motel, responded to this review
Dear Steve, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review here on TripAdvisor. We have been working very hard this year to make many improvements on our property. We just installed new door locks on our rooms, revamped our exercise room and we are planning on remodeling the bathrooms next year as well. We are always trying to make sure our property stays up to date, stays clean and comfortable. We hope you stop by and see the changes.
"Not entirely unpleasant"
A roadside motor hotel reflective of designs that I suspect disappeared in the late '70s. In fact, the bathroom tile reminds me of colors and styles from the '60s (see photo) with 4" pink and white ceramic tiles and the jalousie window glass. The entire room is an eclectic mish-mash of colors, textures, and designs. It's almost as if the owners visited a huge warehouse, stocked up on large quantities of whatever was on sale, and then just threw it all together hoping for the best. Somehow it just didn't work out. I appreciated the large flat screen TV but the a/c unit was not up to the task; the room was humid and had a musty smell to it. But, the most disappointing thing to me was the bed. It just wasn't comfortable at all. Maybe it's time to flip the mattresses (or replace them). Although the room wasn't particularly dirty, it also wasn't up to the immaculate Best Western standards that I've become accustomed to. Breakfast was just okay; standard cold fare with the ubiquitous waffle iron that, surprisingly, turned out "pancakes" instead. The best part of breakfast was the friendly welcome I received from Debra. She's a peach! ;-)
"Very comfortable"
We stayed in the Best Western Thunderbird hotel on our way to Gatlinburg. Very friendly staff , extremely clean & comfortable rooms ! And the lady working in the breakfast room was Amazing ! There was also a Mexican restaurant adjacent to the parking lot that was affordable & great had food !
"Clean room"
The rooms were clean. Beds and pillows were both comfortable. Would definitely recommend this motel to others. Great location in cookeville. The price was comparable to other hotels in cookeville. We love the Mexican restaurant next door.
"Five star rating from whole family."
We stayed for one night. Beds were very comfortable. Room was very clean. Front desk were very polite and helpful. Food at Mexican restaurant right beside hotel was excellent, fast food, great service, prices were in the average area. Overall happy experience. Would stay at Thunderbird again.
"Dependably comfortable"
My husband and were on a 10 day road trip; combination genealogy research and sight-seeing. We usually stay at Best Western because they are dependably clean and comfortable. Not necessary to have "fancy"
"Very nice"
Very nice room, friendly staff, great breakfast nook. Very convenient to shopping, restuarants, banks, movies, gas stations. All is within walking distance of thunderbird hotel. Great room, brand new flatscreen in HD.
"Less than Transparent"
I ended up here by buying a 3 star deal on Priceline late at night because I was too tired to drive further. BEWARE. When I started to check in I was informed that as a prepay I could only have a smoking room, but if I was willing to pay an additional $20 they would move me to an identical non-smoking room. This was not disclosed, nor was this hotel comparable to a courtyard Marriott as advertised. $20 later, the room was acceptable and clean and the bed was comfortable. I will not be returning.
"Maximum"
Overall quality and services of this hotel is excellent. Very large bathroom. Most have just enough room for the business needed, but this hotel had a double vanity and very large bath. The bed was very comfortable as well. This is my second time staying at this hotel, 3 years apart, but excellent in both cases. I recommend it to anyone.
"Thunderbird Motel"
we have stayed at this motel many timers over the years and it has continued to offer a good experience for travelers. Have noted some nice upgrades since our last visit. Management and staff are very nice to deal with.
"Pretty good place"
Accommodating staff. Grounds are fairly clean, but a little rough. I would stay here again as it is reasonably priced. The free breakfast was adequate not great, but again, the price was a fair representation.
"Sweet, Suite Deal!"
This was a planned stop over to NC. Got a suite for around $100 with tax. Front desk lady was super nice. Suite was clean and comfortable...nothing fancy..but safe and comfortable. Breakfast was included and with 3 boys, that expense can really add up. Plenty of great places, restaurants close to the hotel. Conveniently located just off the highway. This place will stay on our short list of preferred hotels when we travel again.
"Satisfactory "
I'm going to be honest. We arrived after 8pm and left before 5 am as we were traveling to NC. The room was very sufficient and clean. The colors are outdated, but I don't care about that. It was a clean room and I'm happy we chose it for the night.
"Great value for the money"
I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It was nicely painted and very clean inside and out. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was very clean, roomy and comfortable. The bathroom sink area was spacious, with double sinks, which was helpful with two women in the room. Breakfast was a continental had a nice variety of items, but were mostly carb choices. Only con to the property was the entrance. It is on a busy 4-lane street, which made entrance and exit a little difficult, but was quiet during the night. It is easily accessed from I-40. I will definitely stay at the hotel again if I'm in the area.
"Traveling"
This hotel was an excellent place to stop and spend the evening. Professional staff, clean rooms and friendly service. I was well satisfied and would stay here in the future. I would recommend this hotel to others traveling through Tennessee.
"Clean, Quiet, Comfortable, Affordable..."
A pretty nice remodel of an older motel. My 2nd floor king room was clean, comfortable and quiet even though it faced towards the main parking lot and restaurant. Nothing great, but nothing bad either really and world's better than the adjoining hotel that I've stayed at in the past. Some better quality linens, bed pillows and bath towels would be a welcome improvement. The included breakfast was nice with some Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, a nice change of pace. Debra did a great job of keeping this area stocked and flowing. I would recommend this location and return when my travels bring me to Cookeville again
"Great Stay"
This was our 8th night on our trip and was the Best experience of the entire trip. The room was very clean and quiet The bed was very comfortable. The eldery lady at breakfast did an exceptional job of keeping the area clean and the items stocked for breakfast.
"Excellent Value"
The Best Western in Cookeville, TN has been a regular stop for us for many years when traveling to and from AR to visit family. It is a hotel that is being maintained well and it is a great value. I want a comfortable, clean place to stay when traveling and this fills that role very well.
"Would not stay"
This hotel's overall appearance was not very clean. It just seemed a dingy. The room was okay, however, there was a worm in the bathroom. There was a restaurant across the parking lot that I don't think was part of the hotel. It seemed that a lot of people who were not staying in the hotel were in the parking lot.
"quiet motel near to hospital"
The motel was easy to get to , right off rt 20- room was on the ground floor with plenty of parking. I had a problem with the key card which they promptly replaced. Our room was sizable with two queen sized beds--two sinks--large screen TV- sitting area with table The free breakfast was well supplied, staffed and good. The pool was inviting as the temperature was in the 90's Even with a busy restaurant next door the room and area was quiet. Our stay was 3 days for relative's heart surgery.
"Great two night stay."
We stayed two nights and have no complaints. The breakfast had healthy offerings and a very nice lady to help. The room was large for a mid priced motel, I loved the sinks in the bathroom....yes two sinks. Had a micro and fridge, which is a plus for a multi night stay. The Mexican restaurant was very good...according to my husband, I was in class all day and didn't get to try it. We had to us the washer/dryer due to a mishap and it was very cheap. The check in was very smooth, like they were waiting just for us to arrive.
"Owner does not care about his customers"
Things went great until it was time to get things out to our vehicle and leave. My wife is disabled and the Disabled Parking spots were right in front of our room. As both were taken when we got to the hotel, I went out to move my vehicle so my wife could use the ramp and have an easier time to get into the truck. The parking lot was half empty at this time and when I go out I see a pickup truck parked across both Disabled Parking spots. As I confronted the person who owned the truck, I find out is was the owner of the motel. He was more worried about his staff leaving a door open on the second floor (they were still cleaning up there) than to at least leave one of the spots open. I will be posting a photo of his truck with plate on other social media. His not caring about those who stay in his place of business is what pushed me to give a rating of one. For I can not give a good rating when the owner has no care for his customers.
"Nice place to stay"
I've stayed at this hotel before and will definitely stay there again. This hotel is obviously well liked by a lot of people since always has a lot of guests. The breakfast offerings are very nice and the rooms are very comfortable.
"Bright lights, big city"
This place is a short distance from the interstate & it's kinda tucked in so it's easy to miss. Traffic on the street was only bad because people were were no keeping with the flow. There are several business that border this property so it's a busy area, in the evening at least. The hotel had their act together so everything was right. The icing on the cake was the microwaveable breakfast sandwiches added to the continental fare. The breakfast staff went above & beyond to assist. Parking was a bit tight, but adequate (there appeared to be some construction vehicles so that may have made it worse). Great stay.
"Comfortable stay at a reasonable price"
I had to come to town because my son, who attends TTU was having surgery. The staff was friendly and I was allowed a late check out so I could run back and forth from the hospital. The hotel is very convenient and quiet, even with all of the traffic from the restaurant next door. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.
"Best customer service"
A very convenient place to break Journey and have comfortable sleep. This place is almost on main highway. I was provided with excellent service and clean and comfortable room. Manager Paul is very considerate in listening and helping out for any request. Good free breakfast in the morning made me drive 500 miles to my destination without stopping for food.
"A nice place to stay"
I stayed here in the past. Always come back when I am in the area. Partial to BW. Nice room. Used the pool; very refreshing. All manner of places to eat along Jefferson. Great location. Staff is always nice and friendly.
"Stayed one night"
We were just passing through so only stayed one night. The hotel was very clean, bed was comfortable, and the room was very spacious! The man at the front desk when we checked in mentioned that he hadn't worked there for very long... he was dealing with a lady in front of us who's reservations had been messed up and he was very nice to her and very patient, and quickly got her problem fixed. When it was our turn to check in everything went smoothly and he was very nice and welcoming to us as well. The lady that worked the breakfast the next morning was also friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel.
"Good price, good location"
An old-fashioned motel (all outdoor entrances to rooms), outdoor pool at the edge of the parking lot. But the price was good AND they have a good Mexican restaurant on the premises -- right across from the Lobby, in the parking lot! THAT was worth the stay in itself. The motel: good staff, comfortable rooms, no noise problems even though it was about completely filled. Breakfast was typical "eh." Too bad the restaurant isn't open for breakfast!
"Very Accomodating, Clean,Quiet & Friendly Service"
Stayed again this year while visiting the 127 Yard Sale. Located just 25 minutes west of the Crossville exit. I needed a handicap room for a family member, ended up needing one additional night and they quickly changed their schedule and accommodated us. Bed and room was clean, quiet / nice. We will continue to reserve our room with them every year.
"Cookeville Best Western"
I stay in this hotel when in the area working on my property. The staff is always helpful. The rooms and beds are very good. Did have my air conditioner go out, but luckily there was another room three doors down to move me. Mexican restaurant on the premises is good. Many other restaurants in the neighborhood.
"Good hotel but decor needs some work."
I have stayed in around 40 different hotels across the USA and I can tell you that decor really matters a lot and it does not need lot of investment from owners. This is good motel but very helpful staff and enough parking. Just if they can work on decor then this will be an amazing hotel.
"Close to Freeway and Historic Downtown"
I like to stay at Best Western and this was the last choice before Nashville. I'd figured with an extended name of "Thunderbird Motel" that it had been around a while. Close to the freeway and associated with a local Mexican restaurant. The room rate was $85.49 and with all taxes was $99.41(King, non-smoking). The room was a bit dated but very clean and quiet. The bathroom was "mid-century" and the tile looked like the my parent's bathroom. Again, everything worked and it was very clean and the room was quiet. Seemed like there was some overflow crowd from the restaurant, some beer cans and the result of an upset stomach in the parking lot near our car. The woman who checked us in (7/24/2016) was a real asset, very friendly and helpful about all to see and do in the town. She is the type of employee that makes one's visit enjoyable! The breakfast was the standard BW, and again the women who helped here was also very helpful and friendly. I would stay here again and do recommend it to travelers.
"Holiday"
I have stayed before and found excellent on both occasions and would use again in future. I used the outdoor pool on this trip and found clean. The rooms were cleaned daily, also the beds were changed daily.
"Sweet Suite"
A last minute trip had us having to reserve a suite. It was very accommodating since we had to pack our food for the entire stay we were there. It was also more homier after a long day of travel to just hang out in the living room.
"Featured Plus"
The "El Tapito" is on this property location. I love Mexican food and this is one of the best ! Food was excellent and the prices are very reasonable. The next time I am in the area I will probably do the same thing all over.
"Clean and comfortable "
Stopped in Cookeville overnight and stayed here. Friendly staff. Clean comfortable room. Quiet motel for being on a busy business road. Decent sleeping bed. Average continental breakfast. Area was kept clean and stocked. Only problem is lack of parking. Restaurant next door seems to take alot of hotel parking. Will stay again when in the area.
"Good night's rest"
My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Thunderbird Motel as an almost halfway point to our destination. Paul, Front Desk, was great about getting us a first floor King room. We had a great night's sleep after our meal out in the same area. We left too early for the breakfast so cannot comment on that. We were allowed to check in a bit earlier so that was quite welcome as we were quite weary. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, our neighbors next to & above us were quiet. We had reserved this type of room and with the Thunderbird earlier using our Southwest Rewards travel account. We will stay again as we were pleased with the Best Western Thunderbird Motel in Cookeville, TN.
"Nice clean rooms for a great price!"
Me and my family were traveling from South Carolina trying to get back home in Arkansas and we were looking around trying to find a nice clean hotel right off interstate I-40 and let me tell you this hotel did NOT disappoint! As we were hoping for, the hotel was literally just maybe half a mile right off I-40 and is right in the college town of Cookeville. I really first off enjoyed how easy it was to park as it was just the usual self-parking. Whenever we went inside we were greeted by a very nice lady at the front desk and it just took minutes for us to get our room key. We stayed on the second floor (there are only 2 floors) and it was really easy to get our bags and suitcases to the top floor. Whenever you walk in you have the nice air condition unit on your left and then the really nice queen beds beside each other. One thing we really enjoyed was the brand new Samsung 50 inch + T.V. . Another nice advantage to the room was it had double sink vanity (which you really hardly see these days.) The bathroom had a window and it was really nice as the shower was nice and deep so you could easily take a shower there. Whenever we sat on the beds they were very comfy and clean and we all had a good sleep that night. The room also had a fridge and microwave just below the T.V. with a coffee maker beside the sinks. Whenever we woke up in the morning we all went to go to the continental breakfast (which by the way is free like the free wifi too). The breakfast was good as it had cereal, bagels, waffles, etc. Overall we were all very impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel and pool. The hotel is located just minutes away from the Walmart, Dollar General, University, and all of the restaurants. I would highly recommend this hotel! It's definitely worth the money that you pay!
"cross country tavel"
This was a really nice Best Western. I am limited when I travel because I travel with my 100 pound dog. We were on our second 10 hour day to get to the beach and were very pleased with this place. It was on a busy street but the room was quiet. I was in the middle of the building on the second floor but I also never heard anyone on the other side of the room. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioner worked very well. I did not eat at the restaurant but it seemed packed when we arrived around 7:30. The people at the front desk at check in and check out were very friendly.
"Large rooms, great location & price!"
We had the double queen room and there was plenty of floor space for a pack-n-play and a sleeping bag. Friendly staff, clean room, nice pool area, and a yummy Mexican place attached! Definitely would stay here again!
"Good road trip hotel"
We were lucky to find accommodations considering how few rooms were available around nashville. We secured 3 king suites. Each had great space, very clean and felt safe. There is at least 1 elevator. Because of the layout it is a LONG walk to and from the loby. The outdoor pool was nice. The pullout sofa bed was very uncomfortable (per my son who can sleep on almost anything. The free breakfast was yuck but there are a number of doughnut shops and restaurants next door.
"Comfortable "
Stopped here on the way home from.the coast. Had a suite which smelled really bad upon entering; however, once the air was on, the smell cleared up. Everything appeared to be clean, and check in was quick. Clerk was friendly.
"Driving through Tennessee "
We stopped here because of the good reviews. All I can say is that they were accurate. The price was more than fair, the rooms clean and spacious and the staff friendly. The best western is right off the highway and convenient to downtown. We will definitely stay here again. I highly recommend it.
"Nice place to stop over during travels"
Our room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly. There was a nice selection of delicious food for breakfast and the employee who was working in the breakfast area was quick and helpful. I forget the name, but the Mexican restaurant next door was great.
"Well fitted out room"
Stopped here for an overnight on way to Memphis. Picked purely due to past experiences of Best Westerns. Check-in was a bit slow due to a customer booking a block of rooms for staff of a construction company. The room was well fitted out with double hand basins, two suticase stands, iron and board, lots of towels, tv, microwave and fridge. Each table lamp had two electrical sockets. There was a pool which we did not use but looked clean. Several eateries were walkable inc. Longhorn Steakhouse which we dined at. There was a Mexican restaurant on the premises too. Inclusive breakfast was good with all the usual choices. Overall a pleasant overnight stay
"Another very nice Best Western"
Another very nice Best Western. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The staff made you feel welcomed and were more than happy to help with questions about the local area and directions. The breakfast was very good. The room was very clean. Overall, a nice place to stay. We would choose Best Western again.
"Smoking"
If you smoke you will like this hotel but I don't and so the smoke bothered me. The room was a non smoking but the smell was still very strong. The room was clean. The breakfast was really good. Good location.
"Halfway Point to Charleston"
We love this town this is our second year of stopping at Cookeville TN it is our first time at Best Western Thunderbird it is a very clean neat place to stay with plenty of places to eat very close to the hotel, and the price is right!! We will be back on our way through!!
"Great value and location!"
We stayed at this motel for two nights and everything was great. Check in was quick and easy. The girl that checked us in was friendly. The rooms are big and the room and bathroom were clean. We had a room with a king bed and it had two vanity sinks, which was nice. The shower was great with nice towels. The doors all face the parking lot, but the A/C unit is on that side of the room so it makes it quiet. We could not hear anything from either room next to us. The pool is across the parking lot, but is a nice area with lots of tables, chairs and lounge chairs and everything was clean. The breakfast was really good with a lot of choices, but the dining room does not have much seating. We ate at the Mexican restaurant that is attached to the property and it was delicious! There are also lots of other restaurants that are within walking distance or a short drive away, so the location can't be beat. All in all a great stay. I would stay there again.
"Don't miss the BW Thunderbird"
Very clean rooms and the pool area was great for our family of 20 to get together before our reunion. It is nice that they allow pets to stay. Nice, friendly staff and overall our experience was fantastic!
"Not the best, not the worst"
If looking for a place to stay on your way to somewhere else, this place will do. For my particular situation, it was not ideal. I was staying a week taking care of my granddaughter while my daughter attended professional training in Cookeville. (The town itself is a complete bore and that is saying a lot being as i am from a small town). The room keys were tempermental, sometimes worked...other times didn't. We had to walk a long ways to breakfast, which didn't offer hot foods. We stayed in a 2 queen "suite". The room layout and size were fine. The a/cs both worked very well, especially considering the oppressive heat of the week we were there. The carpeting however was filthy. Do not wear socks or they will be ruined nor go barefoot...as i can walk outside on my driveway and have cleaner feet than from this room (#135). I do not think it's the cleaning staffs fault though. I feel the type of travelers that mainly stay here is to blame. (Truckers, motorcyclists, construction workers), Even though most of the property is non smoking...you will deal with smokers outside. As this is an outside entrance property. Nice for convenience but not for cleanliness. The outdoor pool is a real positive...very large and clean. But some of the furniture could be replaced. As for staff, some were too nice...some were unfriendly.
"Very clean bathroom and convenient off the highway"
With parking right outside our door, this was an easy unload off the motorcycle. Very easy off the highway on the right hand side. Mexican restaurant on site. Clean and bright bathroom. Breakfast was very good and checkout was simple.
"Incredible Value/Great Stopover"
This was a Sunday stopover for my wife and me on a cross country drive to Utah. Early check in was accommodated by a friendly desk clerk. It took five minutes. The room was spotlessly clean, beds super comfortable, air conditioning worked well. Very quiet. Conveniently located within walking walking distance to several restaurants. Many others a five-minute drive away. It was very busy and seemed a popular motel for stopover travelers. I wanted to note also that the young man on duty Sunday evening had as much patience as I have seen from anyone in his position. While I was checking email at their computer, the desk clerk's printer ran out of ink and he was unable to print receipts for guests checking in. He patiently and politely explained to a long line of people waiting to check in that he was so new he wasn't sure how to get cartridges to change the ink. Meanwhile, he was fielding non-stop phone calls, taking reservations over the phone, etc. He never lost his cool. A gem of an employee! Great stay. We will be back.
"Tennessee trip"
We booked 2 rooms adjoining. Both were suites with two queen beds in each room, living room area. Very nice accommodations for the price. Breakfast is limited. Cereal. A few pastries, oatmeal etc. But for the price we were very happy. Looked like a nice outside pool but we didn't go out there to it. Lots of restaurants in area.
"Cheap, clean, convenient "
Stayed here on the way from SC to MO. Room was very clean, hotel pool was spotless, room was cheap and there was a good Mexican restaurant attached to the hotel. I'd stay here again. Good job guys, most other Best Westerns don't look this good!!
"Good location"
This is an older hotel, had a strange musty smell in room. Other customers staying seemed to be enjoying themselves. This was a quick overnight stop on the way to eastern TN. Probably wouldn't stay there again. Nothing horrible, nice double sink area, but just don't like smells in hotels.
"Vacation trip"
The people there were very helpful and we enjoyed our stay. Out next trip in that direction we plan to stay at this location again. The room was clean and the breakfast and other meals were excellent.
"What a great stay!"
Front desk at late check in was setting up my room key when I walked in. Very friendly and I was able to be in my room in less that 5 minutes. At 12:30 at night that is wonderful! Our breakfast hostess treated our family of 4 just like family. It was busy but she opened the door for us to head back to our room with our breakfast and was so polite and cheerful. She is a superstar! There was not any meat available for breakfast but well stocked with other breakfast items. The rooms were the best I've seen at the price ever. Double sinks, wow! great sleeping too.
"My god this place is clean"
I wish whoever cleaned the bathroom tiles here would come clean my bathroom tiles at home. The whole place was a celebration of the custodial arts. The pool was great too. Highly recommended for a road weary stop over. (Here are the extra 200 characters tripadvisor requires to post this review.)
"Caring Staff"
Every staff person we encountered was extremely helpful and friendly. Nice outdoor pool and clean room. Location is convenient to state parks and great restaurants. The suite room was perfect for our family with teens.
"Great value at well maintained motel"
We needed a stop-over en route to Asheville, NC and chose this primarily because of the excellent Tripadvisor rating and reviews. They were right on. This is a well maintained older property with exterior doors, but it was very quiet even on a Saturday night. The room had obviously been recently redecorated and was as nice as a new roadside hotel. And it was immaculate. An expanded continental breakfast is provided in the lobby with a very attentive attendant. Front desk staff couldn't have been nicer. Many restaurants surround the hotel. This is a great value...a winner!
"Best Western"
Our Hog Chapter is planning a trip in June & we had reserved 20 rooms here. My hubby & I did a pre-ride to check everything out before the trip, so we stayed here for the night. The rooms were clean & the front desk was very helpful. There's a restaurant in the same parking lot, so we could walk to dinner. I would deff stay here again!!
"Nice, clean motel at a reasonable price"
We were headed from Charleston, SC to St. Louis, MO and were starting to get tired of driving and began looking for a hotel. I am glad we ended up at this motel. The Thunderbird offered us a large, clean room with a beautiful pink tile bathroom with double sinks and a great shower. The king size bed was comfortable and we got a great night's sleep after watching a little television on our big flat screen. The next morning we had a nice breakfast ( blueberry waffles, breakfast sandwiches, cereals, fruit, bagels and much more. I did not expect breakfast to be this good at a moderately priced motel, The staff was friendly and very efficient.
"Good Spot for a Night"
Traveling between Nashville and Asheville by back roads but this was right off I-40 where we were crossing. Very busy for a Monday night but they had a room on the ground floor. We were tired from a long day of sightseeing and this was great. They had a small Mexican Restaurant right next door-kind of attached. We gave it a try and it was good. A spot for locals from what we saw. Too much food for low cost. So a very good stay. Breakfast not great so we didn't partake.
"Three night stay"
We stayed in a 2 queen bed suite on the first floor for 3 nights. The room was very clean, the beds extremely comfortable. Having a separate living room area was perfect. The staff was helpful and extremely nice. Definitely would stay here again.
"A solid experience,,"
We stopped here at 11 pm on Saturday our way home from St. Louis to North Carolina last week for sleep, shower and breakfast. Everything was handled superbly by BW. A clean room and comfortable bed, a hot shower, and a tasty breakfast! Staff was also very friendly.....
"great hotel"
This Best Western Hotel had excellent service. very clean comfortable rooms with very helpful employees. They had a great breakfast. check in and check out was very easy. We enjoyed our stay very much.
"Outdated but clean"
We stopped at this hotel after leaving Nashville late one night. It was cheap and we needed about 5 hours to lay our heads down. This hotel was very clean but very outdated. The beds however were super soft and comfortable. I wouldn't stay here for leisure, but for an overnight trip it was fine. Tons of restaurants right around the hotel as well.
"Good Spot to Spend the Night"
Great big parking lot and well lite, very friendly people at the front desk. The room was nice and clean, the bathroom sinks were nice but the rest was out dated the shower handle was falling of but it still did the job. The next morning we checked out and had breakfast which was very simple no bacon and eggs here. But was the perfect place for what we needed.
"Good quick overnight stay"
We were approaching the halfway point of a 15 hour trip and decided to stay in Cookeville. While my husband drove, I reviewed the hotels in the area (what did we do before smart phones!) and based on price and reviews we gave this a try. I am usually a hotel snob and I guess I didn't realize this was a motel and not a hotel. Until we rolled in around 10 pm. Didn't matter though. It did the trick. It was a clean, comfortable place to sleep and take showers before heading back on the road. It is an older hotel ( as was evident from the green tile in bathroom) but was CLEAN which was all that mattered to me. The carpet looked new. We had a nice soft king bed with 4 pillows. I slept great. The hubby said he was a bit cold (he was fine after he adjusted thermostat) but it was great for me. So the AC really works! It had a microwave, fridge, and nice tv. I loved the double sinks, long counter space and mirror outside of the shower/toilet area. This allowed me to get finish getting ready while hubby showered. Breakfast consisted of the usual coffee, Apple and orange juices, serving size cereals, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, microwaveable breakfast biscuits, a few pastries and bread for toast. They also had a waffle maker which we did not try on this trip. I had cereal. It was fine but I am used to the a hot breakfast of bacon and eggs and potatoes at a hotel. But again, it served its purpose of feeding us so we didn't have to stop and pay for breakfast elsewhere. The few negatives which prevented this from being 5 stars were there was no fan in bathroom so mirror got foggy while my hubby was in shower. The breakfast was just ok. The water in the sink drained slowly. The faucet on the tub looked like it was about to fall off but it worked fine considering this is an older hotel. Would I stay here again? You bet. Great bargain and served its purpose.
"Nice Place"
I have stayed here many times and have always been pleased. Staff is helpful and friendly and the location is superb. Many restaurants in walking distance and just of Interstate 40. I like the Mexican Restaurant on site. Fast internet and great breakfast. It's been my home away from home.
"Nicely upgraded rooms"
This hotel was the most reasonably priced hotel in Cookeville during our stay, so we were a little wary but there was limited availability that weekend. We were very pleasantly surprised that the rooms appeared to have been remodeled recently, as the carpets were fresh looking and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was also nice, without the telltale signs of age you find in most older hotel bathrooms. The breakfast was very average, but still it was free so can't really complain
"Will stay here again!"
This hotel was very comfortable and clean. The check in process was easy and we even got into our room early which was great. The beds were comfortable and the room very clean. It is a basic hotel with basic amenities, but I would not hesitate to stay here again. One of the big things I rate a room on is how the tub drains while taking a shower. This one was perfect. I also liked the fact the bathroom area was in its own little alcove area away from the view of the beds. Another great part of the bathroom area was a full wall vanity with double sinks. Great stay!!
"Good hotel, price and location"
Room was comfortable and clean. Friendly hotel staff. There is a Mexican restaurant on the hotel and in addition the hotel is located near restaurants, banks, hardware stores, which for my work trip was very convenient.
"Great beds!"
I found the room to be very comfortable, especially the bed! The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I had booked online and thought I was getting a handicapped accessible room. The front desk clerk made arrangements to move me into a suitable room. I would definitely stay at this property again.
"cookeville tn B W a good stay"
We were visiting the Red Bowling Springs area and came back through the Cookeville area and have stayed at this BW before and knew it was a good place to stay, restaurants in walking distance. Is an older motel but still kept update, would recommend, when traveling through Cookeville TN.
"Stay"
Overall experience and condition of room was good. Nice value for the money. However, at checkout I informed the staff that the stopper did not work properly in the bathtub, and that there were holes in one of the bed sheets. While it wasn't a huge issue to us, I was surprised they clearly did NOT write this down or make note of it. Did not think this was very professional for future visitors.
"Quick overnight"
The room was comfortable with good, if soft, beds and pillows, and a decent shower. Mexican restaurant on site was convenient and good. Continental breakfast was very limited but ok. Check in and out was quick and friendly.
"Nice to see familiar faces"
The Best Western T'Bird in Cookeville TN has been my home away from home for many years when traveling for business and pleasure.... convenient location....always friendly and attentive service....handle any problems that may arise promptly and professionally. always in good condition, upgrades as needed and good staff continuity which is a real plus for tired travelers.
"you can park in front of your room"
I like it. You can park in front of your room and it's much bigger than you think it is. that's all folks- bump out to 200 characters. that's all folks- bump out to 200 characters. . that's all folks- bump out to 200 characters. . that's all folks- bump out to 200 characters. . that's all folks- bump out to 200 characters. . that's all folks- bump out to 200 characters. . that's all folks- bump out to 200 characters. .
"Really Good!"
After several days of motels on the road, we've seen everything from "old and worn" to "just plain yucky and smelly." This is such a bright spot! Clean, quiet, professional courteous staff, and all those wonderful basic amenities you look for in a good motel and expect from Best Western. Site is easy to get to and within walking distance of lots of restaurants with everything from fast food to fine dining. You won't be disappointed in this one!
"Off Interstate 40"
I had to go to Lancing Tennessee on business, it's a small town in the middle of nowhere. I use Best Western as my hotel of choice. It was 61 miles from Lancing but it was on my way back to Memphis. Great Hotel, Good Restaurant connected to it . I would stay here again. I was sad to learn that Stovers had closed down.
"No heat in the bathroom"
Visited on a 40 degree night. The heat was turned off when we arrived and the bathroom area was very cold, even in the morning. Beds were comfortable, breakfast was average. Room had been updated but the bathroom had an interesting shower head that had great spray. Quiet hotel.
"Great place"
We travel across country a couple times per year. We always stay here. The people are helpful AND they are pet friendly and very friendly and accommodating. It is an easy off and on from I40. We will definitely be staying here again.
"Visit to Smithville"
This is an average hotel - one of the biggest problems with this hotel is the access to the hotel it self. Located an a major intersection in town it I hard to get into and out of the parking lot. This coupled with the fact the hotel shares a parking lot with a popular eatery in town depending on the time of day a customer of the hotel could have a problem in finding a place to park
"Friendly"
Great place to visit. Friendly people, good food and Southern Charm. Room at Best Western was extremely clean and comfortable. Breakfast bar was amazing. Great choices.Rooms seem to have been recently redone and lots of room. Elevator for the dissabled makes it easy to stay on any floor.
"Wonderful stay!"
Hotel is recently updated and room was spotless, everything worked. Hotel staff did lack concern for wait times and did not seem very professional. The hotel itself is an excellent value, has a great restaurant attached, and the quality of the room makes this a can't miss.
"PACKED IN"
I stayed at this hotel in 2009 and it was just off the highway with a few local eateries near by,,,most of which were pretty poor quality...flash ahead 2016...the hotel has been refurbished and the area has exploded with chain hotels, chain food establishments, etc etc however this place is better than it was...and is still quiet enough in the midst of all the traffic. Staff has been helpful and customer focused during both visits
"Feb. trip"
Upon checking in when I found out that our room was on the 2nd floor I asked if there were any available on the 1st floor, the man said no because of people extending their stay. He didn't offer whether it would or would not be a possibility to switch to 1st floor on the following night. ( Didn't seem too concerned about the situation. )
"Comfortable motel"
Spent one night here before a college tour with my daughter. The front desk clerk was very nice and helpful upon check-in. The room was clean and comfortable, and a good value. The breakfast had a good variety of things available and was very convenient. Very convenient location down the street from the freeway. I would recommend this to others.
"Pleasantly Surprised "
We were looking for a place to stay that was nice but affordable. This fit the bill! Room was clean and spacious. Plenty of towels, which was a pleasant change from most hotels. Front desk check-in was efficient and nice. Coffee available all day/night in lobby. Was a bit concerned about breakfast based on some prior reviews, but happily these were unfounded. Oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruit, hardboiled eggs, assortment of pastries, breakfast sandwiches you heated in microwave and fresh hot waffles you make yourself. Overall a great breakfast considering the price of the room. We would recommend this hotel to friends/family and would definitely stay here again.
"S. Holloway"
My experience at this motel was great. The price was reasonable. The room was super clean and staff were very professional The young man working breakfast was very friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend this motel and would definitely stay again!
"Not impressed!"
Booked this for a quick one-night stay passing through. It had good ratings.... It is a motel with doors to the exterior, crowded parking lot (restaurant on site). The room smelled stale and odd and the bathroom was the most outdated I have seen a a hotel in years.... Bed linens were not clean and there were various stains on the carpet and walls. There was one tiny shampoo for three people. The walls are thin and the noise from the parking lot, balcony, and neighbors was not pleasant. Price was reasonable but next time I would pay the extra 10-20 for the nicer hotel in the area with an indoor pool. I would not stay here again.
"Nice Pet Friendly Hotel"
This is a very convenient and reasonable pet friendly hotel. Day shift staff is excellent. The only downfall is there is only a very very little area of grass for pets to use the bathroom in and it is not maintained.
"Clean, updated, friendly"
Was traveling with a pet and expected older room. But was very pleased with the updated, clean room. Nice hot shower, new carpet, granite vanity. Beds were very comfortable with large new pillows. Close to everything. Will always stay here when we visit relatives in the area.
"Sweet suite"
My daughter graduated from TTU this past weekend so I reserved a suite instead of a regular room since one of her friends traveled with me. The beds were so comfortable we both had good night sleep both nights we visited the area. The water was hot and the rooms were clean.
"Great Dinner, Good Night's Sleep, Wonderful Stay"
After spending the day on the interstate, it was extremely welcoming to find the BWTM just off the exit and conveniently located near restaurants, shopping, and a great relaxing room prepared for us. El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant is where it is happening in Cookeville, if you are looking for a fun dining experience(excellent food & drink), and be sure to ask for Vivian as your waitress. The motel room was large, clean, and most of all comfortable. And so was the King Bed we slept in. The staff were pleasantly friendly and professional. The breakfast exceeded my expectation and the young man attending it was very helpful. I wish I had got his name! He does a great job helping people get what they want, keeping breakfast items available, and keeping the area clean. Overall a Gre
"Great Place to Stay"
I highly recommend this hotel, staff was very helpful, room did not have an odor, everything very clean. Our TV remote didn't work and within 5 min the staff had brought us one that did. We also left an item behind and again the staff was very helpful in retrieving it. This is a great place to stay in the Cookeville area at a great price.
"Very good place, highly recommended"
My mother, husband and I stayed here for one night on the way from Raleigh, NC to Texas, right after Thanksgiving. The room was very clean, and had a huge, long granite counter with DOUBLE SINKS, which was just great with three adults in the room. The room was wider than many motel rooms, which again was very handy, allowing us to put a luggage rack for my mother's very large suitcase at the bottom of one bed and still have plenty of room to pass by. We had a double queen room. The bed that my mother and I shared was softer than we liked (Room 117, bed closest to the window), but we managed OK. My husband's bed was fine. The room was well insulated inside, and when someone took a shower, you couldn't hear it at all. It was November and the pool was covered over, but it was a very large pool and looked like a great place for families traveling in warmer weather. There's an excellent Mexican restaurant directly across the driveway from the motel lobby, with very reasonable prices and cheap draft beer -- all great after a long day on the road. The continental breakfast wasn't as fancy as some, but did offer hard-boiled eggs (which I always look for) and whole pieces of fruit. I also noticed a cold case that looked like it had cold breakfast-type items that could be heated in the microwave on top of it. Front desk staff were well-trained and friendly. The room rate was very fair. Can't ask for much more about this place, we definitely recommend it.
"Southern Hospitality"
Thanksgiving week while visiting relatives "down home", we had the pleasure of staying at the BEST WESTERN Thunderbird Motel in Cookeville tn. The greeting was warm and friendly as soon as we approached the desk. The young lady had our reservation as we requested and check-in was swift. Our room, while not fancy, was clean, pleasant and well appointed including frig and microwave. While there was no restaurant on premise, many eateries are close by, even within walking distance. There was a breakfast nook offering enough selection to please most for a quick morning treat. I can find nothing negative to say about this well run property.
"Love this place!"
Stay here whenever we are traveling across country! We have a pet and and the rooms are great for pets and always clean! Easy access to a great Mexican Restaurant. Hope to see you again soon! Thank You!!
"A Very Pleasant & Comfortable Stay"
This reason I chose this property was due to the favorable reviews here on Trip Advisor. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, so I was pleased with a total of $81.24 for our one night stay. Check in was very quick and the desk clerk was very sweet and helpful. I was pleased when I walked into our room. Attractive and clean. Mattresses are firm and the sheets felt nice. Four pillows to a bed. It was very quiet until about 8:30 the next morning as people were packing up and leaving. Fridge & microwave really came in handy. Check out is 12pm but they were kind enough to extend ours to 1pm. Other reviewers were serious about the Mexican restaurant being across the parking lot.....you can hit it with a rock. Walked over last night for dinner. Nice atmosphere, good food, super friendly staff and very reasonable prices. Dinner for two came to $22.00. Property is in a good, safe location within walking distance of four or five restaurants and even a tattoo parlor. :) I would definitely return here.
"Good room, greedy unappreciative owner"
My wife and I stayed here 3 nights on a recent trip to Tennessee. We had reserved a king room. Upon arrival we were told that our king room was no where near the ONLY elevator on site and we would be forced to carry our luggage upstairs or take the elevator and walk almost the entire length of the hotel. Since my wife has an auto-immune disease that made both options impractical, I asked to change rooms. There were none to be had except a mini-suite and the owner in the hotel made ZERO effort to accommodate our request except to tell us we could have the room for extra money. We took it as it was late. The room was nice, the owner was not.
"Acceptable"
Decent place to stay at on a budget. Price very economical. Room was spacious, clean, and amenities were fine. Bed and bath were acceptable. Breakfast was not as good as most places. Motel was easy to find and there was a popular Mexican restaurant in the same parking lot with the motel.
"very nice"
I came up for the exotic animal auction, and then the next time stayed with a friend in her hotel which was not the Best Western. Best Western was WAY better than the other hotel - I didn't care for Best Western breakfast, but with so many restaurants it was easy and not out of our way to go to Cracker Barrel for a hot meal.
"House Hunting Base"
This is a great place for us to stay as we are relocating and making NUMEROUS house hunting trips. It is conveniently located to city, suburban, and country life and the shopping is great. It's very clean and even though it's on the main street it is quiet at night. We have great sleeps as we have been here 3 times (so far). And RESTAURANTS every where!
"Hidden Gem"
This is the cleanest hotel I've stayed in in a really long time. I was hesitant to stay because it is an older hotel and the lowest price of all the hotels in the area. However, after reading all of the reviews about it, I decided to give it a chance. I'm very pleased with my choice and will plan to stay there again when driving through the area. It is quitet, refurbished, and unbeleiveably clean.
"5 stars"
This motel was a very clean motel with extremely friendly staff. The bed was super comfortable. I highly recommend this motel to anyone. Affordable and easy to book online. WiFi internet, good simple breakfast, and the parking lot was easy to get in and out of.
"Not impressed "
I wanna start with saying I never write poor reviews and I will keep this Suttle because I don't believe in picking apart a business to hurt them...everyone needs customers to make a living. So let's start with the positives. The staff was nice and friendly. The maids did a good job they did the best they could with what they had to work with. Here is my problems with this hotel..."I stayed for 4 nights" the pillows were rediculous! I actually had to go to Walmart and buy a pillow because the ones provided were no joke the size of a decorative throw pillow and if you rolled over forget it. Next problem the linens, old. Granted they were white not yellowed or anything, had holes, we're so thin you could see through them and if you looked you could definitely see stains especially the shower curtain! Next, I got a non smoking room and every time I walked in it smelled smokey after looking at the walls there must have been 10 coats of thick paint on the wall to try to cover up this outdated hotel. The bathroom was certainly from the 70s but was clean minus the shower curtain. Ok I'm done with being anymore negative but if you ask me, someone who stays in hotels alot it looks like someone threw in new dresser drawers a flat screen TV and slapped some paint on the wall. The only reason I didn't leave was because 1 my company paid for my stay and I was so busy I didn't have to be there much, 2 the maids did their jobs and even though I had thin sheets with holes which is not their fault the bathroom and the sink were spotless every day and the front desk people were super nice.
"Great staff and wonderful restaurant next door"
We made an unplanned stop in Cookeville and had no idea where to stay. We walked in and we were immediately greeted by the staff and made to feel welcome. They arranged for us to get a ground floor room we requested and had no problem with the discount we asked for. The Mexican restaurant next door is great. We fell into bed full and happy. A great stay.
"Pleasant, comfortable experience"
This hotel provided value for the price; nice check-in/check-out staff, comfortable, clean rooms, pleasant continental breakfast. Although it is right in the middle of action, just off the interstate, we found it quiet. A thumbs up on this hotel!
"Locked out"
Everything was great, except the door lock was strange, i had to push, pull and swipe key card all at the same time, sometimes several times before door would open. The room was very nice and clean. Staff friendly. I will stay there again.
"Good Standard Hotel"
Good journeyman hotel, conveniently located close to I40. There's a Mexican restaurant adjacent and a Longhorn Steakhouse about two long blocks away, so quick food isn't a problem. The room pleased us with double queen beds and a double sink/vanity, which one doesn't see very often and makes it easy to spread out. We stayed on the way to and from Branson and would stay there again.
"BW does not need my DL# Again"
On checkin desk clerk asked to scan my Drivers License I said no but she still put my DL # into the system. BW does not need my DL info, I am a BW Rewards member and everything they need is already in their system they do not need to have my DL scanned into their system. Stop this BW! I also asked for a 1st floor room as I was traveling on my Harley but was offered a 3rd floor suite upgrade but they did have an elevator. Room was 2 queen bed mini suite & I do mean mini. There is a very good Mexican food rest right at the hotel that has great food and beverages
"Great Value, ruined by bright exterior lights"
The price, location, comfort of bed, internet, hot water was all great, but the room was lit up like the fourth of July due to all of the excessive exterior grounds/parking lot lighting and poor ability of curtains to block out the light. Curtains should be heavier and FLOOR LENGTH. I didn't sleep because of the light, which, in our room, appeared as if we had a lamp on
"Urine soaked mattress"
My daughter and her family stayed in a suite I arranged for them. They have 3 children. When it was time to put the children to bed they opened up the sofa bed to an awful smell and a urine soaked mattress and bedding! When reported, the front desk lady said they could not do anything about it that night and did not offer them another room. When asked for another room, they said they were full. Luckily, we (the parents) had a room with 2 queen size beds and were able to let 2 of the 3 kids sleep in our room. My daughter, her husband and the other child had to sleep in the stinky room. I made my reservations 3 months in advance. I will never stay there again.
"I would stay here again"
This motel worked out well for us. It was convenient to the highway and easy to get into. The room was comfortable and the wi-fi and TV worked well. The breakfast looked good --even had hot food available though we only had coffee.
"Great Value for the Money"
Great Employees with really good attitudes!!! Which is a bonus for me. Very comfortable beds that make for a great night sleep. The rooms were very clean. The only issues I had is that there isn't enough room to sit down and eat Breakfast in the lobby and the bathrooms are a little dated but these are not big issues for me. Like I stated before the rooms are clean, comfortable and nice for the value and the breakfast has a pretty good selection. This was the third time I have stayed on your property and I am consistently satisfied.
"Motel not Hotel"
Great beds, lots of pillows. Spacious bathroom area and clean bathroom. Room was very clean and large. Location is good for the area. Lots of restaurants to choose from. We will definitely stay here again
"Cookeville, TN"
Very pleasant community. Best Western is a quality accommodation and Crawdaddy's restaurant is superb. There appear to be other restaurants and attractions in Cookeville which we look forward to visiting on our next trip.
"Good Night's Sleep"
Clean Room, good internet service, great TV, easy check in and out. Hotel is close to Mall, Restaurants and gas stations right off the Highway. Breakfast was good and staff was frendly. I'd recommend this hotel for it's value
"Beautiful hotel"
A quick overnight stay on our way home from Nashville led us to this well rated Best Western hotel. It's a beautiful property with comfortable clean rooms. The rooms are also roomy and well appointed. We wish we could have found this elsewhere on our trip as we would have stayed more than one night.
"Good Experience"
Nice hotel, clean rooms. Good price for the quality. Only problem was a very noisy air conditioner. Liked the fact that this was a pet friendly motel. Breakfast was what you would expect on a continental. Nice modern décor.
