Amals Stadshotell, BW Signature Collection

Åmål Stadshotell is a fantastic hotel. It is siutated in the main street of Åmål, so you can walk everywhere you want from there! The area around it is beautiful! The hotel is beautiful both from the outside and from the inside! The rooms are large and very comfortable. The personell are very kind, helpful, has great knowledge of Åmål and are very service minded! The breakfast is included in every purchase and it is fantastic! All you can ask for and more from a breakfast. Very tastefull! This hotel has all you can ask for and more! And the price is just right for what you get in return! Highly recommended!

We visited Åmåls Stadshotell in July and couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. The hotel sits in a wonderful spot right in the heart of Åmål, just a short stroll from Lake Vänern and the charming old wooden town — the location really is hard to beat. The building itself has so much character and history, and it's been lovingly maintained. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. In summer, the long Scandinavian evenings meant we could leave the window open and enjoy the fresh air without any noise disturbance. The real highlight was the restaurant, Bakfickan. The outdoor terrace overlooking the river was absolutely lovely on a warm July evening, and the food genuinely surprised us — creative Scandinavian dishes with high quality ingredients and an excellent wine selection. Breakfast the next morning was a generous buffet with something for everyone. But above all, it was the staff that made our stay. From the moment we arrived, everyone was warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful — the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like a guest rather than a customer. Åmål itself is a hidden gem, and this hotel is the perfect base for exploring the lake, the nature of Dalsland, and the surrounding area. We'll absolutely be back!

Rather expensive even by Swedish standards and the service in the reception was adequate, but lacking in politeness. A smile would have been nice. The restaurant was pretty nice though with good service and a decent selection of beers.

A super, dog friendly hotel. Great, friendly and service minded staff, nice and spacious rooms, great breakfast with vegan and gluten free alternatives and a very nice back yard and terrace! We spent four days at the hotel, and it was a very pleasant stay. We will be back for sure!

Perfect service, good prices and fine food. What more to expect ! Even in this difficult time with the CORONA, the restaurant was open and we felt us very safe, even though it was a buffet. All precautions were taken and ...followed! Great quality for value.

We enjoyed the Rick Steves shared Amalfi coast tour very much. Micheline was an absolute joy and her enthusiasm and love for the area was contagious. Her depth of knowledge of the area and it's history is endless. We loved our conversations with her, as her inner love for people was radiant! Giacomo is probably the best driver we have ever seen! We have been on many tours all over Europe, and even on the Amalfi Coast before, but he had a greater sense of anticipation of the conditions and traffic than any driver we have had before. In addition, he was very friendly and engaging, and welcomed us warmly when we returned to the bus. We would gladly take another tour with these two anytime, anywhere! Mike & Cindy Provance

The hotel offers a lunch buffet every day with 3 warm courses, a salads bar and coffee for a very reasonably price. It consists of various swedish and international lunch dishes, and on the day we visited, it was chicken, fish and bacon (stekt fläsk) with brown beans. You could also have potatoes or rice. A lot of locals visiting so it is very popular. You can sit inside or outside. The coffee could have been better, stronger that is. It is a buffee and you get what you pay for. If you are on a budget and hungry, it s absolutly a bargain.

Location of hotel is good. Hotel decorations is classic. Clean and nice. House is old and the rooms sealing are high so it's cold in winter time. Breakfast is no so big but it works. Staff are nice and helpful.

This is a very nice example of a classic hotel. The entryway is very formal. The staircase is lined with red carpet. It speaks of class. Checking in is very easy as well. There is a nice elevator that will take you to the third floor. The rooms are spacious and the TVs are modern. This is a great hotel to stay at

The hotel i situated in the middle of the charming town Åmål. It is not far from Lake Väner either. The entrance and stair case is magnificent so is the old ball room on the second floor. The hotel is more than 100 years old. It is a typical city hotel (stdshotell) which you find all over Sweden. The rooms are small, but with very high ceilings. The rooms towards the street are very noisy. The breakfast has a limited choice, but was ok. The staff is friendly.

Carefully renovated this is a charming hotel in the center of the small, but friendly city of Åmål, situated next to Swedens largest lake - Vänern. I had a small room without a view, and the bathroom was modern and clean. The breakfast was standard. If I return to Åmål I would book this hotel again.

If you only need a bed to sleep in it is an ok hotel. No staff after 10pm mon-thu, 6pm fri and 12pm sat-sun. Breakfast service doesn't start before 8am on sat-sun. The hotel is perfectly located in the city centre.
