As soon as you walk in, yes, it looks ok, but the smell was a little questionable and it wasn't cool and inviting. Perhaps the indoor pool being so nearby was the cause, but I didn't like the feel/ambiance of it all. We got to the room and found the ac barely blew out any cool air, the vent in the bathroom did not work so when the bathroom door opened after a shower, the entire room was warmed up (due to the lack of ac coming out as well). The faucet at the bathtub had a constant running drip so even if you turned the knob as tight as could be it still ran so you had to keep the door shut or you'd hear it all night, but then the bathroom could not vent from the shower so you're out of luck. Lastly the front door was not sealed properly so the light from the hallway came through all the way around the door and the window shade was not as wide as the window do you had light coming in there as well. Was NOT happy to stay there all night, but had no choice as it was already almost 9pm when we arrived as the AC in our home had gone out so we just wanted some place to sleep. We left at 6am because we couldn't stand it anymore. I would hope someone would read this and give us some type of refund on things since we weren't there that long and had to endure all things, but it is what it is. I will never recommend this place to anyone, unless they had no other choice.
2026 Under new management by Best Western. Very nice room with laminate flooring. King size bed was very comfortable. Room 221 had two white columns in the room with arches, looked classy. Small refrigerator and microwave. Tub shower combo. Stayed 3 nights. Very roomy with a 3-seat sofa and a large red chair. Elevator to second floor. Breakfast had fresh fruit, yogurt, bread, bagels, cereal, waffles and coffee cake muffins. There was a lady that was cooking you breakfast made to order. She made eggs or omelettes and had sausage and bacon too. Had OJ and cranberry juice. Close to kemar boardwalk and NASA space center.
Old hotel, musty smell in the room and old towels; I found two small cockroaches. Breakfast is extremely basic, and it closes at 9 am. The windows have no soundproofing whatsoever, and it feels like you're sleeping on the street; you can also hear every footstep from upstairs.
This review is based on the new management not the old. First ill say it can tell they are trying to make it better. However there are somethings they should have done prior to reopening under new management. First make sure all the toilets and plumbing work and dont try and blame the guest when they report the problem. I flush the tiolets when I first get a room and I do it without tiolet paper so if it doesn't work they cant blame me. Also spend the $50 and get new microwaves that dont have the entire inside of the microwave with brown stains all over the entire inside and the turn table doesn't stay on the turning thing. Buy faucets fixtures that actually align with the sink and then you wont have wholes next the the faucet. Get shower curtains that are ripped and worn out.Get remotes that work with the t.vs or buy t.v that actually work. I did go to the front desk and he gave me some batteries but the t.v still didnt work. We were greeted by roaches as soon as we entered the room and turned the lights on. I told the morning front desk guy about my concerns and he promised to call me back after speaking with the manager and it has been 4 days and he never called and no I dont have any missed calls and no voicemail he just didnt care to follow up. The breakfast was the regular options at most motels the cook to order omelet isnt an actual omelet more like a egg scrambler because it is a flat round scrambled egg the shape of the pan with your choice of things to add. It would great if the guest didnt have to ask for the bacon or sausage every time they want meat. They dont put it out for the guest to get instead you must ask the kitchen lady for it and if she is busy making eggs then it will be a while b4 you can get your meat. Maybe add some potatoes also idk not many options but per normal they do have the famous waffles like most motels. Maybe shut the hotel down and invest in extermination. The roaches are pretty bad we slept with our lights on and I stopped counting roaches after I seen 3.. I do have a video but it was to long and wouldn't allow me to upload the video
Stayed two nights while in the area. I guess the hotel is ok but it is not an upgrade. No major complaints. The bed wasn't the best. It was mostly springs with not much mattress. I felt like I was going to bounce out of bed. The room in general was OK. Front desk service didn't seem too excited to work there. No greeting as a Reward member. He wanted to copy my ID. There is no reason to copy ID, I have a credit card on file. We did not get housekeeping while there, no fresh towels, no vacuum, no restock bathroom. Breakfast was average. The special omletre station was not the special treat as it was hyped. Don't ask for extras. The breakfast area wasn't kept stocked. Waffle syrup out one day. Next day they ran out of forks. All in all an average hotel that lacked service.
My room was very clean and so was the restroom. Desk clerk was friendly. Nice breakfast and you can make your own Texas Waffle! Convenient location. Price affordable.
Now this review is for Best Western Melrose at Seabrook,BW not the Comfort Inn. Many of the reviews for this location are from when the hotel was owned by another management company, who previously owned the property. Look at current reviews from the last few months. The new owner has presently remodeled and prides themselves with good service and a good cleaning staff. In many reviews of the property, the pictures are old from the previous owners and is now with Best Western and has been remodeled extensively. It is no longer a Comfort Inn. It has changed names also. The staff is very nice, accommodating too. The rooms are large and clean. I can't say it enough, very clean and new furniture and flooring etc. Someone said there was no fan in the bathroom, that is incorrect. It has a vent and is always on but you can't hear it. There is no switch for it. The shower was really nice and felt wonderful actually. I had to get extra towels and that was no problem. The AC works well. Breakfast was ok but I am vegan so there is that. They have fruit and a few other food items I could eat. Now for my husband, they have an egg omelet bar on weekends and you get to pick what you want. They had bagels and muffins and I liked the chocolate and hoped it was vegan but not sure. The hallways were clean and the outside also. Loved the bed and it was a king. We stayed for 4 nites. I loved the Mediterranean Cafe and a Mexican Restaurant across the street. That was so convenient. We also went to one of the bars up where the water is. They had good fry's. NASA was close by as was the Boardwalk and so was League City. I would for sure stay again. The owner was one of the nicest management personnel I have ever met and I am not related nor work for him or the company of BW. Just a tourist. I made the reservation with Sam on the phone. He was very helpful and nice also. Oh I didn't see one single bug, not one. Yay--
There is mold on the cieling. The indoor pool is small and the chairs have mold on them the bathrooms are gross with the tub being dirty. The rooms had no towels. The floors inside the rooms have stains on them. I have no idea where people are saying their stay was nice but this is and was a bad experience. Never again. I have pics if you want to see for yourself. The toys are molded and not clean.
4 major reasons to avoid this place like the plague. literally. 1) rejecting masks during the covid-19 pandemic including the owner, receptionist, and cleaner. the receptionist actually told guests masking was voluntary, despite two signs on their front door stating it was mandatory 2) advertising that they offer breakfast, but haven't for months 3) refusing a discount or refund when the power went out and we didn't have heat or hot water during freezing weather. it was 40'degrees in our room. it's not my issue that you don't have a back-up generator, i paid for services you didn't supply 4) dirty bathrooms and pungent smelling cleaning chemicals. see trip advisor for photos of their nasty bathtubs. if you stay here, seriously good luck.
We had a group of 14 with 3 rooms that stayed for 3 nights. The owners were such great people. They really worked to make our stay great. The kids had a blast in the pool. We didn't get to try the breakfast, because of COVID-19. But that was okay. There was a fridge and microwave in the rooms. Staff were very friendly. Will surely return here on the next trip out.
This visit was very bad when we came in there was toilet was clogged and made us clean it left over food and the tv only had 1channel pool is small won't come again. And for the price is wasn't worth it
