Best Western Plus Wilkes Barre Center City

We came to see a show at the Kirby Theater, The location was great for our needs. We walked to the show which is a block away. The breakfast was very good. The staff was very friendly and courteous, and the bed was comfy. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.

Hotel is very clean, people are nice and there's always a hello how are you when you go by the desk. Hotel is pet friendly which you wouldn't think it was because it's so clean and upscale. A little out dated but the nicest in the area. Hotel has a restaurant in the building. Food is good with many options. Staff are very competent and know what they're doing. Definitely would recommend this place to others.

If you are looking for a newly renovated, plush hotel this is not for you. Location was further from interstate than we had wanted but we typically do BW+ so decided to go with it. It was fairly clean, bed was comfortable, location was convenient to city center with restaurants, shopping, etc. Expanded breakfast was standard for BW. Not the best BW+ in which we have stayed but ok.

The staff at this hotel were really great. I'd particularly like to highlight the friendliness of Ed at the desk in the evening, the bright, welcoming smile and kindness of Simone at the front desk in the morning, and Chef Justin who made a beautiful breakfast, was very helpful and kind, and attentive to our needs. Thank you to the staff at this hotel for making out stay delightful!

We stayed there because of attending a concert at the Kirby. The hotel is reasonably priced and nice for the area (coal region). The staff is friendly and helpful. Best thing about the hotel is the complimentary breakfast buffet and it's location to the Kirby Theater (which has some interesting musical performances). Some of the musicians and their entourage stay here, as well. We bumped into a few on the elevator & at the breakfast buffet. Nice coal region experience.

At first it seemed if this hotel was in a depressed area. It was in the city not out on the highway. But it was right across from the Police Station and we saw no trouble. The place was classy. The lobby beautifully decorated. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. This is the most lavish Best Western we have ever stayed at. Off the lobby entrance was the Oyster Restaurant, beautifully decorated. I thought I was in New York City in one of their finest restaurants. We ordered a steak and a seafood dish to go and I took it up to the room for me and my wife. The food was excellent. The room was clean and neat and looked like it had been recently renovated. There was also a very nice pool we took advantage of. The next morning we had breakfast at the same Oyster Restaurant and it was by far the best breakfast we have had at any Best Western. The eggs and bacon were fresher and the pancakes just great. I would go out of my way to book this hotel again when I come back to this area.

The facility is well cared for. The staff are polite and courteous. I would recommend this Best Western for casual or formal occasions. The breakfast beats all the BWs I've stayed at! I'm already planning my return.

Good location in downtown Wilkes-Barre to explore the area within a short you can walk along the river which is very nice. The room was comfortable and provided a quiet night. The hotel staff were friendly and the breakfast was a bit above average.

The front desk was very nice and helpful. That is where my nice comments end. I had a cockroach at 1am in my bathroom (they have 1000s of friends you can't see). My colleague had an ant infestation in his room. The edges of the rooms were filthy, but the barf of maroon carpet may have made it difficult to tell just how dirty they really were. The shower was a triangle, meaning it was impossible to turn it on without being assaulted with cold water and having it spray all over the floor. There was no lamp on the desk, so you really can't work there, and even if you pull a bed lamp over, it was so dim you can't see anyway. There was some flashing light outside the window ALL NIGHT. The thermostat sucked- heat smelled like fire, heater looked like there was mouse poop or something burned in there. Cooling was too cold. But the SMELL of the whole hotel was like hooker cover up for a smoker with an underlying mold problem. Oh, and the restaurant! The wow is the "decor"... some of the tackiest stuff ever seen. Got tuna steak for dinner, was good, but after seeing the cockroach in my room, I'm grossed out about eating there. Breakfast & coffee were disgusting.

Having booked tickets for Sebastian's show at The Kirby, the question was, where do we stay? Having attended a wedding at this venue 10 years ago (where does the time go?!?) it seemed like the logical place to stay. It was tempting to go the casino route, but being a Friday trip after work for an early show, the timing was too tight and this location was perfect! The check-in was very smooth and the parking adjacent to the hotel was safe and convenient. The room was sufficient, not overpriced considering the convenience, and the rubber ducky was a cute touch that would bring a smile to anyone's face. The food was excellent, as was the service and the feeling of being pampered just a little bit made our stay and overall trip to Wilkes-Barre special. The friendliness of the people there who serve you makes any place you visit special. Genetti's staff did not disappoint...from Jeff and his female co-worker (sorry, did not get your name) at checkin, to Michelle and Michael in the Lounge to our servers, Angela and Alex in the dining room, it seemed like everyone wanted to make you feel welcome and to enjoy your visit. Thanks to all of you for making our weekend getaway relaxing and special!

Don't order food at this hotel; the staff aren't trained in basic food safety. Coffee creamer for a business meeting was served in syrup dispensers. No way to maintain proper temperature in these glass containers. When I asked for fresh, properly chilled creamer, the staff just added more creamer to the tepid creamer. Food poisoning anyone? This is the place to contract it.

We stayed for one night as we were attending an event at the Kirby Center. The location is perfect..less than a 5 minute walk. I was disappointed in the lobby-or lack of one. The check in area is centered in a hall close the the elevators. I didn't notice any public area. There was not a chance for early check in, so we decided to go outside for lunch. Be prepared for some culture shock. There were many vagrants about and while they were not being aggressive, it was disturbing to see so many folks living at this level in a small area. There are a few restaurants to choose from, so we settled in for lunch, as we had 2 hours to kill. Finally went back for room and went up to 4013. The room was very nice, with 2 queen beds and a nice TV,desk, arm chair and ottoman. WI-FI worked right away. I was surprised to find a refrigerator and some free bottled water. The bathroom was up to standard however the shower head was wonky causing some leakage. There was no odor in the room and A/C functioned quite well. My husband took a dip in the pool which he said was sparkling clean. The next morning we had the included breakfast buffet. Although the restaurant decor was unusual, the offerings were fine. As for hotel staff, they were all pretty nice and efficient. Another plus is that since staying in hotel, our parking was free. It was a nice lot, well lit and camera security. With some updates in the ground level, this hotel could stand out.

Booked into room September 12, 2018. Went to room and found the Bathtub had mould all around the tub. Asked to be moved. Second room, found less mould, but still mould. Then looked at the tub itself. IT WAS VERY DIRTY....running your hand over it, you could feel the dirt and the powder cleanser, which was never rinsed. I would absolutely not use this tub or shower. Called for another room and was told there was none available and I offered to pay for an upgrade. Front desk said it would be $500 for a Junior Suite! Asked to speak to the Manager. Manager not in until the morning. Asked to speak to the Assistant Manager and he said that he was the Assistant Manager, but he didn't have time to come up and examine the room. Had no choice but to stay. Called Best Western.com and complained to Customer Service. The lady I spoke to was horrified. This Hotel had the nerve to post a FOUR AND ONE-HALF STAR RATING, and you couldn't even have a shower. Not that this was not bad enough but NEITHER Televisions in the two rooms showed a clear picture. It was all snowy, like it was the 1950's. This shouldn't even be a PLUS Best Western. This is the last time I'll ever stay in ANY BEST WESTERN. Heard nothing from the Manager. Went to front desk in the morning and they said she doesn't come in until 10am. So she's not here in the evening, night or the morning. What's left? Guess she just waits for all the guests to leave!

To sum it up EXCELLENT STAFF!!!!! But very old fashioned decor'. Breakfast was GREAT!!!! Chef will give you a morning smile even if your not a morning person! Safe place to rest your head. Need bigger parking lot. Pool area needs to look appealing but cool to kick your feet in the water. The poolside wedding set up wasn't nice. Late night restaurant options were not good....all the good food was closed by 10 pm on a Saturday night.

We stayed for 3 nights. Upon check in Jeff was at the desk. He was friendly, polite and knowledgeable Jeff was especially good when it came time to handle a difficult situation with another employee, Rebecca was loud and rude and very discourteous during a very busy check in time. Jeff handle it all well with ease. Kudos to Jeff. And he even apologized again later when he saw us that evening. Our rug should have been better vacuumed before we checked in. I moved the curtain and left the rug in view full of the dirt but still the next day it was not done and I needed to ask for it to be done, which it was. We were disappointed our room did not have any chair other than the desk chair and the desk had no lamp near it. Thankfully it had a fridge and a microwave but no place but the bed eat (or one at the desk chair ) The furniture seemed to be a hodge podge of pieces similar in color. The bathroom was very nice except for the ugly light fixtures. The breakfast was ABSOLUTLEY THE BEST EVER ANYWHERE!!! The staff was wonderful too! The restaurant decor was ridiculous ! Indescribable ! The entire room needs an interior designer renovation. I would not eat dinner there because I couldn't eat 2 meals a day in the same ugly place. Would I go back? Yes, because the staff really took care of the guest.The pool was the cleanest pool I've ever seen. The location was good too, free parking too

We were delighted with our visit to BW Genneti! The room and beds were very clean and comfortable. The entire staff was welcoming, friendly and helpful! Even our dog was welcomed with a gift bag! We enjoyed relaxing by the beautiful pool in the evening and appreciated the convenient, FREE parking. But the best part was the delicious free breakfast buffet, with made to order omelettes, and all sorts of breakfast delights including great coffee!

I have spent one night or two nights at BW Genettis in Wilkes-Barre, from the moment I check in..I am greeted as if I am a family member. The staff is wonderful, Simone is by far the best!! In my line of work I need time to get away and just breathe, and staying here I can do just that.! My room is clean, fresh and welcoming. Housekeeping is wonderful. I will be staying again soon.

This by far was the best hotel stay I've experienced the hospitality was outstanding and the room was super great. The breakfast was tremendous and the restaurant staff was extremely polite and courteous. Alonso was a great host greeting me and offering me a variety of choices on what type of eggs or breakfast items I loved it I would visit stay at BEST WESTERN ANYTIME, THANK FOR MAKING ME FEEL WANTED AND WELCOME

We stayed at this hotel to attend the Sweet concert at the F.M. Kirby Center last July and we had a wonderful time. The hotel is old and rather historic. One can tell that it was once a sizable convention center. Now its convention facilities seem more directed at hosting private parties. It would be really something to see this place fully in action. In any event, the rooms were clean and well maintained, and the breakfast was out of this world fantastic! The Kirby Center, coupled with this hotel, makes for a wonderful entertainment experience. I will definitely keep my eyes open for future shows and next time I will make a special point to have dinner in the restaurant given the high quality of their breakfast service.

I stayed at this hotel for my Uncle Wedding. I loved everything from the staff to the food to the music to the outdoors. I do plan to come and stay again very soon. I really love the complimentary breakfast.

Clean. Comfortable. Delicious breakfast. Secure parking. Directly across the street from the police station. Free bottle of water in room. The pool looked s little small but appeared to be clean. We did not visit the fitness room, so I'm uncertain about that.

We went there for a show. The show was at 7:30. We figured 5:30 was good , as venue was 5 minutes away. Made a reservation. When we went to desk to be seated, there was no one there. Waited a full 5 minutes before we asked the bartender how we get seated. He said Michael will seat us soon. Michael seated us shortly there after. We ordered our food, and there was Michael there to take our order! We waited a full 45 minutes for our soup and salad. Delivered by Michael! By the time our main course finally came, it was 6:50. Now we are pushing our food down so we had time to hop back to the room, then get to the theater in time. as the place was only 1/2 full, I found this very unacceptable. The food was bland and salty. On the plus side, the room and the people were very pleasant. When we visit for the next show, we will stay there but certainly not eat there.

We chose this place because they allowed us to bring our dog and because it was close to where we needed to be - It is an older hotel, but but don't be discouraged by this - our room was updated and was very nice, clean, and the beds were comfy -- the AC unit was loud and kept turning on and off during the night (annoying) but that is my one and only complaint - Every person we interacted with during our stay was friendly and accommodating..The front desk person even printed out directions to a Kielbasa Festival for us (it was a fun event, too!) ..and when I needed a new hair dryer it was brought up to me in 5 mins. The restaurant is oddly decorated, but the food was excellent and service phenomenal ...and we liked that we could just walk downstairs to it for a nice dinner- Breakfast is included and it was also very good (real eggs, not the ones from a carton)! I walked my dog only when it was light and had no issues at all with the downtown area-- In fact, two minutes from the hotel is a place called Riverfront Commons- an absolutely gorgeous park.. I travel to this area a few times a year and would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for one night on a road trip. Our room was reasonably clean, but not really inviting as it felt dark and cramped. It was OK for one night - really would not have wanted to stay longer. The other areas of the hotel we saw need renovating and the lifts are in need of a darn good clean. The check-in receptionist was very curt when I asked about wi-fi, she snapped "I'm getting to that" and seemed disinterested in general. Pluses are free parking for guests on site and the hotel is very close to Wilkes-Barre's centre square.

We had driven all day, trying to get out of the stormy weather, when we stopped here. We had a coupon from the hotel brochure they have at rest stops and the CAA/AAA book had a good review. The service was excellent -- friendly, helpful, efficient. It was clean. The room smelled very musty and was hot. We put on the a/c but that air had a strange smell to it, so turned it off and opened the window to get some fresh air. The AC/Fan unit is also very loud. I happened to have my own battery operated fan in the car which I brought in to use. It is definitely older and perhaps the smell is because of the heat, humidity and old carpets. did see some evidence of more recent renovations, so perhaps they are in the process of renovating the facility. Other than that, it was comfortable. We didn't actually swim in the pool, but it looked inviting. Note: The following comments are not the hotel's fault, but should be a concern of the town. At night, it's not a particularly desirable neighbourhood and we were uncertain of safety outside (we were two women and had wanted to walk around after driving all day). The public square nearby is not well lit and only the main street in front of the hotel has adequate lighting at night. This attracts denizens -- drunks, and we were approached by men staggering across the road. There was no problem and they weren't aggressive, but we decided to stick to the area right around the hotel. The downtown seems to need upgrading badly. We previously stayed in a Motel 6 in Harrisonburg, VA, which was cheaper and the room was much newer. You do get a full hot buffet breakfast at this place, so that was why we decided to stay here and not Motel 6. The Oyster restaurant is a sweet looking place. The guest information in the room had a menu for the restaurant, however when we went down there, the bartender informed us that he normally didn't make hamburgers (on the guest menu but not the regular restaurant menu) at 8 p.m. He did oblige us however and the hamburgers were tasty and a lot of food.

Excellent breakfast - easy check-in - comfortable beds and room. Pleasant staff- excellent service when booking with Simone. Would stay again during future visits to the area. Great location to downtown.

After an extended weekend with friends,stayed here for quick access to early morning departure. Property is older,but nicely and recently refurbished. Staff was polite and efficient when I did late evening check-in. Great low rate on Priceline. In my experience,a Best Western property is always a consistent-quality, good-value option. Room was clean, modern, ...with new flatscreen tv. Comfortable,firm king bed with fresh pillows. Spotless bath. Had a great nights sleep. Then enjoyed fast FREE buffet breakfast in hotel dining room. Excellent value. Very pleasant experience. Highly recommend.

Great hotel, lots of attention to detail .I was driving a pickup truck towing a trailer and was very happy that they have an offsite lot close by to accommodate oversize vehicles. Room service from the onsite restaurant was excellent. Highly recommended.

Decided to give this review after reading previous comments regarding the loud thumping music that went on until 2 am a few weeks ago. Yes 2am ! I called down to the desk shortly after midnight to ask when it would end and they said the party was booked until 2. Mr. Gennetti knew this was happening …why does he say there's an 11pm noise cut off ? Why would a hotel do this to their guests?

Worst hotel in years. The hallways smell, the room smells and as I write this, I am being serenaded by a music from the party room just below my window - even more egregious considering I reqested a room in a quiet area when I made thee reservation!

I love this hotel and it's proximity to downtown and Wilkes University. Second time I stayed in this hotel and it never dissappoints. Breakfast is over the top! The only negative thing I can say is they need more parking at the hotel.

Great rooms. Clean and spacious. Well located. Front desk staff friendly and efficient Bar staff unpleasant just felt he was looking for a tip. Coupons givin to us for free beer or drink just good for Corina light not anything good or a real beer. Did not have dinner since bar service was unpleasant and nothing really for vegetarians unless you like eggplant. If you are looking for a nice clean quiet room with breakfast this is a good choice

We stayed at the Best Western Genetti as a last minute option after Hilton overbooked and wouldn't honor our reservation. They were gracious, friendly, clean and very accommodating! We stayed in room 7001, the New York style suite. It was clean, the bed comfortable, and the staff was friendly. We made several more reservations there for the upcoming months. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone going to the area!

Everything was very good. It is an older but remodeled hotel. But with an older hotel the walls are thick, so it is quiet. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. In a nice location downtown with good restaurants a short walk away. It is a short walk to the bridge by the Susquehanna River. We took our bicycles and enjoyed biking for miles on the path around the river. There was a storage room for our bikes. Mohegan Sun casino is a short drive where there is entertainment too. The only reason for the three points is the friendliness of the people at the front desk. Stayed for one night. The room and interiors could truly enjoy a clean coat of paint. Could not wait to checkout.

Everything was very clean! Great breakfast. We stopped without a reservation while on a trip to Maine. Everyone was very nice and we would stay there again if we are ever in the area. I have not stayed in a Best Western before but it is now in my list of places i will stay.

The BW+ Genetti Hotel and Conference Center is an older hotel (that has been remodeled) located in downtown Wilkes-Barre. They had a gracious, helpful staff at check-in. Room was very nice but a bit cramped for four of us. Great breakfast in hotel restaurant - real bacon! Parking was a bit tight because the place was full. We would definitely stay there again. Reasonably priced.

My family and I were booked here because my niece was getting married. We read all the reviews online, and looked at the pictures online of the hotel rooms. We thought that it was perfect. The staff was very nice at the front desk. But, once we went to our rooms, it was not the hotel we expected it to be. The rooms were dirty, hair on the bed and looked like the room had not been vacuumed in years. The refrigerator was covered in dust along with the rest of the furniture. My husband dropped something on the floor and he bent over and looked under the bed and there was trash and old candy under it. and under the beds were never cleaned. It was by far the dirtiest hotel I have ever been in. Also, the clientele was just as bad, very shady looking people. And, the Oyster Bar looked like a strip joint. I have stayed in Best Western before and they were beautiful. This one not so much.

Parking for check in was a bit of an issue but everything was great after. The desk clerk (Jeff) was helpful and efficient. The room was up to date and clean. Enjoyed the soaps and shampoo. Fridge, micro, work space and strong internet. Beds were nice and the room was quiet. The morning breakfast is a VERY full buffet. All in all a good stay.

I planned to stay here based on good promotional rate. Based on the poor appearance of the lobby I asked to see a room before I committed to staying. The room decor and bedding was old and outdated. The hallway was slightly dark and the elevator was scuffed and slightly dirty. I therefore decided not to stay here.

The Good: Breakfast was great, the room was clean, the bed was firm. The Bad: The room key cards NEVER worked so every time we left our room, someone had to come up and use some unit to let us in which took 5 to 10 minutes each time. This was really bad Sunday morning because none of the desk staff could get us in and we waited over half an hour. (We did get a $25 gift card to use at our next stay but doubt we will use it) The UGLY: At 7 pm a loud band with a louder bass started thumping outside! This continued at an extremely annoying volume until 12:45 am. Come to find out the hotel had rented out their event center for a birthday party!! At what point do the guests' comfort and inability to sleep become a priority to this hotel?

The workers were the most hospitable people I have encountered on my 24 day cross country trip. We are staying in a different hotel every night. This hotel has great value. The pool is small and located outside but at least it's there. The have a Morning breakfast that is offered but I missed it. We even had to have contacts shipped to the hotel and it made it there in time for our arrival and the hotel staff made sure it got to us. That was awesome!! Well done Best Western!

Clean, comfortable, quiet room. Great amenities, nice pool. Very friendly and helpful staff. That would've been enough for me, but—wow—the breakfast! Served in the fancy (well maybe a bit gaudy) Oyster restaurant, this breakfast rivals those served in $300/night hotels. Loved the eggs, bacon, potatoes and sausage. Really loved the great selection of fruit. There was a whole lot more, too. This is one of the best hotels, at this price, I've ever stayed in. Congrats to owners, management, and staff.

There is nothing this hotel doesn't do well. Nothing. Rooms are clean, common areas and pool as well. Lots of parking, quiet location even though it's downtown. But the greatest, BY FAR, is the staff. In particular the lovely gentleman that took care of breakfast. Oh my, what a great human being! Was amazing to my Son. The day before at the pool, he was skimming it and asked my Son to make sure to go for breakfast the following morning. When we showed up, he greeted my Son with "Hey, there's my pool Buddy" and went on to help him make a waffle. The guest experience this gentleman gave us was way, way above average and he's an asset to this hotel. We loved our stay!

This was our first visit to north east Pennsylvania and we stayed here four nights while exploring the Poconos. For the cost of an interstate motel you get a real hotel with a bar, restaurant and conference facilities. Our room was spacious and comfy. Complimentary breakfast buffet was excellent! Parking and Internet were free. Two block walk to the center of town. I thoroughly recommend this place.

For a unique, warm, friendly and comfortably stay in Wilkes-Barre stay at Best Western Plus at Genetti Hotel. The fine art prints, including Van Gogh, in the lobby got my attention. From the moment we called to make a reservation until the moment we checked out, we felt special. We were greeted by Shae and Rebecca with a big happy welcome. They even helped me look up an old high school friend who lived in town. The hotel is charming with full service including a fine restaurant. The room was exceptionally clean and the little rubber ducky was the "creme da la creme". Smiling Simone checked us out and the owner himself gave us a personal goodbye. This hotel has set the standards high. We certainly will return. Room 6010 Five star rate from Paul and Madeline in Clifton Park.

The wife n I were heading back home...we used the Priceline service n got the Best Western...staff was friendly...informative...courteous...compliments to the chef...filet was excellent..breakfast also hit the spot...its like the diamond n the rough...

Great stay while in town for a concert at the Kirby Center. Location couldn't be better...literally steps from our seats in the theater, as well as several restaurants. Staff are professional, accommodating, efficient, hard-working, experienced, caring, and friendly. Good value, as free parking and complimentary full breakfast are included in room rate. Room was clean, well-appointed, comfortable, and well-equipped, with microwave, refrigerator, ironing board, iron, hair dryer, full-length mirror, plenty of towels, and nice bath products. Even a fun yellow rubber duck for the bath! So nice to be able to be accommodated in a pet-friendly room for a modest fee ($15), as we were traveling with our dog. We arrived early, and were very willingly accommodated with early check-in. There is a fitness center, and pretty outdoor pool. Highly recommended!

This is a great place and we do our best to return as often as we pass the area. The staff is very friendly and responsive. The breakfast is among the best you will find. It is easy off and on I-81 and in a perfect part of town.

We Hotwired a night stay here on a road trip to visit our daughter. It is a couple of miles off 81 but worth the drive- big room, comfortable king-sized bed, free tasty breakfast with real food instead of the premise little egg-patties most chain motels serve. It is now our go-to overnight stop for the WB-Scranton area.

I always believe the staff makes a place great or poor; this hotel has a wonderful staff. From the easiest check-in to housekeeping, to the friendly staff helping with breakfast, everyone one was incredibly polite and welcoming. The room itself was very comfortable, clean and quiet. All these things are the making of really nice experience.

Always happy when I stay here! Great service, excellent food, reasonable prices! nice touch on welcome letter and ease of check out. Only wish parking was free, but the cost is reasonable. I will definitely stay again.

This hotel definitely ranks an excellent recommendation. The attention to details was evident in every experience, from check in to room cleanliness, to the enjoyable breakfast we had in what looked to be an old ballroom. The hotel had a nostalgic feel and was very well maintained. The staff's attitude and demeanor were atypical of what you see in most chains today. They seemed to genuinely express consideration for their guests and we saw this with not just one employee but every employee we met. This hotel stands out as a cut above most.

The rooms are clean and well lit. There are 2 bed covers so you can select your heat reflection for sleeping. Shampoo and soaps are made in America (per the bottles) so they do not have China additions. Staff is friendly, helpful and know where the Double Chocolate Cake is sold nearby. While the hotel is located in the city, they have their own gated parking lot. I recommend asking when Vince is the morning chef if you have that choice. The owners took the time to write notes to their boarders making us feel important to them. And they have a sense of humor as shown with the rubber duck waiting on the bathtub. =)

This place was outstanding from check-in to check-out and a fabulous breakfast. Can't say enough about it. It's such as great location and walking distance to the Kirby Center, the Square as well as the riverfront. Wilkes and Kings College as very close to the hotel. Again, great location. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.

I really thought my stay wasn't going to be a great stay and sure enough it was!! Breakfast was awesome! They had so many options!! Staff checking in, the bar, and breakfast were so nice!! I would stay here again!!

Older hotel in downtown Wilkes-Barre, PA. Kept up well. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. Parking and internet are free, as is a full buffet breakfast that includes anything you would want. If you have a pet, they have an area outside for them to go to the bathroom, complete with a small fire hydrant.

This hotel is all about the customer and I appreciate the service, professionalism and welcoming attitude every time I stay at this location. There are newer hotels in the area but they can't touch the level of customer service I receive every time I stay at this location!

Genetti's is in a really great location in Downtown Wilkes-Barre. The service here is great and the hotel offers a great complimentary tasty breakfast. Rooms are always clean but they do accept pets so always request a non pet friendly floor if you don't like animals nearby. We experienced dogs barking at 5am. This hotel should be upgrading the dilapidated pool area. It looks awful and this area is seen first when walking in from the parking lot area. It is an old building and it is time to say goodbye to some older decorations from the 70's in the lobby, bar and restaurant.

I have stayed at this hotel several times. It provides a clean room with a comfortable bed. They also do a great breakfast that is included in the price of the room. The staff is very nice and the location of the hotel is great. The pet fee for my dog was only $15 a night. I think that is very reasonable. I have also been to events at this hotel. They have lots of space for meetings and weddings. They do a very good job!

No complaints about the room and staff who were very helpful and pleasant. Unfortunate that the restaurant and breakfast were terrible. The Oyster Steak House was so bad that we didn't finish. Our meals were floating in very salty gravy. The breakfast eggs had too much onion powder, the danish were state and the fruit bowl was sour. When I told the attendant about it he had said he thought it smelled bad when he was putting it out. He then went to taste it and promptly removed the bowl. Do your self a favor and eat out of the Hotel.

This hotel is a trip back in time. We love the upscale (for BW) decor. The hotel is in very good repair and has a 40s jazzy atmosphere. I almost expect the Rat Pack to stop by. No crepe paper tissues here. The breakfast is huge and served in those turines you see in hotel dining rooms. Seriously, there was corned beef hash, bacon, biscuits and gravy and, two kinds of eggs, several types of fruit, oatmeal, bacon, etc. You get the picture. And the even the toiletries are better with a huge rubber ducky with Genetti on it. You never have to worry about the quality of the linens with plentiful fluffy towels. The prices are very modest for the quality of all this service. In fact, we think it's downright cheap. Everyone is so hospitable; I'll never understand if it is underappreciated. For Pete's sake, they even have room service!

We stopped in Wlikes-Barre on our way north to break up our drive. We were pleasantly surprised by the Best Western in town. The staff was extremely friendly and pleasant, the room was neat, clean and well appointed, with mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, iron, even books to read. We were given a list of local restaurants and really enjoyed Cafe Toscana a couple of blocks away. The hotel was clean and felt safe, though some parts were a bit worn, on the whole it was a perfectly fine place for an overnight in a small city

Reserved for 1 night but our car broke down while we were driving to the hotel. We called from the side of the road but there was a complete lack of understanding. Apparently you need to know 24 hours in advance if your car is going to break down leaving you stranded along the road. I left a message for the general manager to call me back. She did not return my call but had an accountant call to repeat their 24 hour cancellation policy through Expedia. Complete lack of compassion or understanding when you are going through an extremely stressful situation. I would have expected better from the Best Western.

BUT. We have tried now a couple of times to stay here. We travel 81 hwy and look for a place to spend the evening. We have a coupon book from The Welcome Center and it shows a great rate (in 2 different books) for this hotel and these are week days each time. Their ad boasts their great trip advisor reviews. Each time we come they have no rooms for that rate when you tell them you have a coupon, however they do have rooms, but at 3 times the coupon rate. The small print says "based on availability" SO if you are NEVER going to honour this coupon DON'T PUT IT IN THE BOOK AS FREE ADVERTISING. i assume you catch lots of people for the high rate when they walk in exhausted from driving all day, which is just sad.

We stayed at this hotel on our way home from Florida to Canada.The staff are amazing the hotel is very clean and has a super breakfast..If you come on a Sunday restaurant is closed but you are offered a discount coupon for close by restaurant.

Stayed here for 1 night. It was our fault for booking last min. This hotel was the best thing left in town for an event we were attending. At check-in as soon as we got to our room, the guests in the room next door were very loud, so we thought. We later realized the walls are paper thin. The next morning we could hear the couple having a conversation and could hear every word clearly. Wish I could post the video clip I took. It was unbelievable. Furniture fixtures and even elevators are worn and outdated. Lock on the room doors are a joke. See pics... Was really upset by the parking situation. Hotel advertises free parking but has a VERY SMALL parking lot compared to the number of rooms on the property. We returned from our event with no where to park. After waiting for someone to return to front desk, only 10:30pm, was allowed to park in 15min parking zone for the night. Buffet breakfast offered to guest 6:30am-10:00am but we woke and left early; before 11am check-out. Pros 1. Local to Mohegan Sun Arena about 2.0 miles 2. Clean Cons 1. Parking 2. Very thin walls 3. I just want to say if you are in town for an event at the Kirby Center and don't want to mess with parking, this is where you would want to stay. Nice hotel, friendly staff, decent breakfast and room but the reason we stayed to begin with was the proximity to the Kirby Center. We stayed 3 nights recently to see 2 shows and walked to both shows (cross 1 street walk to the corner, and there is the entrance to the center). Multiple places to eat within a few blocks, from pizza shops,Subway a few cafes and a restaurant in the hotel. Will stay again when we are in the area.

We've stayed at this Best Western in the past for concerts at the Kirby Center. The location couldn't be better. Right around the corner. The rooms are clean and everything was in working order. The Staff was friendly and helpful. When checking out we wre asked if we needed directions. Having a lounge available after the show is a plus. The breakfast was good and the staff kept everything stocked.

Enjoy a weekend stay at the Genetti hotel with my family for my mother's 71st birthday the restaurant and bar on site have great food and drinks. There's a barber shop on the premises go see Ralph the Barber for a great haircut everyone here is very friendly and nice I would highly recommend.

My first trip to this hotel. It is an older hotel but clean and comfortable. Restaurant is a little pricey. Hot breakfast was very good. My 10 yr old granddaughter and I stayed here 2/10/18 and the experience was wonderful. The location was perfect since we were attending a concert at the Kirby center in the next block. My granddaughter woke up about 1 am, vomiting all over the place. I can't say enough about Chris and how wonderful he was. He remade her bed, brought us more towels and a deodorizer since there was no housekeeping staff until the next morning. He was very pleasant and not once gave me the impression that he didn't want to help or was aggravated at the situation. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. I would, most definitely, stay here again!!!

I stay at Genetti's frequently for work and I appreciate the way I am treated by the staff. They make you feel like family. Shane,Chris,and Jeff go out of there way to make you feel at home. Recently I mistakenly booked my room for the wrong night (as i book online through my company). I showed up to no reservation on the correct night. Tabitha and Simone went far above and beyond to A) get me a room and B) help me solve my dilemna, even though it was my fault. This type of service is why I stay there. Thank you Genetti staff.

This hotel is RIGHT in the middle of D/town. A neat little town w/ alot going on. The lounge & restaurant are the part that seem a little old school but the b/fast was included & had e/thing you'd expect & more. The room was really nice & modern. Fridge & micro, as you'd expect. There's a fully equipped fitness center & an o/door pool. On top of that, it's not real expensive, either. I'd probably recommend the Fairfield above all, but not disappointing AT ALL. Be blessed!

Great property. I was moving across the country with my (large) dog in tow, and this hotel was perfect. Reasonable price, friendly staff, great location, and tasty food selections. I don't know if I'll ever find myself in Wilkes-Barre again, but I'll definitely stay here if the opportunity presents itself.

I returned to Genetti's this January, because I had spent a night there last summer and was impressed. Once again, the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was awesome. (Yes, I think it is worthy of awe.) Most importantly, though, the room was clean, and, something I look for when I read hotel reviews: there were NO bedbugs. So, I will definitely be returning to Genetti's the next time I'm in Wilkes-Barre.

Excellent hotel in Wilkes- Barre. The rooms are great, love that there is a restaurant in the hotel. Makes it a perfect place to have dinner and also for breakfast in the morning. We enjoyed our time at this hotel and will be back very soon.

I have no idea why this hotel was so cheap. It's a bit older, but is a really nice hotel with large comfortable rooms with nice extras, like a heat lamp in the shower and a rubber duckie on the tub! Brekfast was the best I've ever had at a hotel. Can't believe it was free! Cite downtown location. Reasonable pet fee of $15. Have to walk down the street a bit to relieve thw dogs, but the area felt safe with cute condos, etc. Would adjust my travel route/schedule to stay here again.

Everything was great. Room was sparkling clean. Everything looked new. Walked in bathroom and everything shined. Had everything I could have needed. Had a wonderful brunch on new years day. I would stay again.

I recommend this hotel because it is within walking distance of the college, restaurants, theatre, shopping, esp. the bookstore and the parking is so convenient. The staff are very friendly and helpful! The included breakfast is quite good, with a somewhat varied selection. I loved the King suite that I was given, since all of the double Queens were booked! The bed was comfortable, the shower head was wonderful and I appreciated the extra room to get work done.

A very nice hotel at any price but then very cost efficient on top. All-in-all a nice place to stay, close to the center of town and the restaurants there. We were there to visit family and it provided a convenient meeting place, a very good Christmas eve steak, and easy access to other local places of interest.

I have never stayed at a nicer hotel with the most courteous staff on the planet. Our family was snowed in and could not get to our final destination and Samone at the front desk could not have been nicer. Hotel was spotless and very pet friendly. We even were given dog treats when we checked in. Hotel was quiet, and the breakfast in the morning was over the top with lots of hot options. Cannot say enough great things about this pleasant stay in Wilkes Barre. Price was also fair. Stay here. You will not be disappointed.

I stayed in this hotel and found it to be a delightful place. Came back again on this trip. Very friendly staff, great location with many nearby restaurants and a bookstore, plus the town square a couple blocks away was decorated for Christmas.

Stay here even when its a little out of my way. Even if I have meetings in Scranton. The rooms are clean and the staff are more than helpful. Never had a bad experience. With in walking distance of food and adult beverages.

Our stay was made excellent due to the caring of the staff which obviously comes from top management. Unfortunately, due to a recent back operation, the bed quality was wanting. I would still return if my husband ddn't have the back problem. Highly recommend this pet-friendly hotel.

Have stayed with the Genetti Hotel in Wilkes-Barre on previous occasions and was comfortable making the reservation at Genetti Hotel for this trip. We have a Labrador Retriever who was traveling with us and is welcome at this establishment. The stay went very well and we were pleased with the condition of the hotel, our room, condition of the towels (they were plush and soft) and our stay in general.

We greatly enjoyed our 3 day stay at the Best Western plus Genetti hotel in Wilkes-Barre. While the room wa not overly large, it was very comfortable with 2 beds, arm chair, desk and entertainment center. We had a small refrigerator and a microwave and what seemed to be a good coffee brewer. We never used it though because there was 24 hour coffee and tea available in the lobby. The breakfast buffet was wonderful with scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon and sausage and pancakes, biscuits or French Toast plus oatmeal, fruit, yougurt, toast, pastries and more! Everyone on the staff was personable, friendly and helpful. My favorite things, though, were the quirky touches- the cool decorating in the restaurant, the rubber ducky in the tub (we were allowed to keep it, too) and the towel art next to the sink. I should have taken a photo of the swan, but I am attaching a photo of the fan. And you know that coffee in the lobby- it is Douwe Egberts, our hard to find favorite!

Have to travel between Maine and Ohio 3-4 times a year. Lately have been making myself get off the interstate and stay in towns I have never seen, like Wilkes-Barre. Spent a night at the BW Genetti. I was exhausted and so appreciated the kind people at the desk who seemed to genuinely take pride in the hotel. Room was very clean, bed great, pillows, linens, etc. Was too tired for the in house restaurant that looked interesting, another time. The icing on the cake was the breakfast. Wow, a truly full breakfast with excellent fruit and bakery items. The fried potatoes were particularly good. The breakfast accommodated all types of diets. I won't ever stay along the highway again when passing through W-B. Next time with my husband I will try the restaurant.

Was there for a Kings College event. Had a great stay with a friendly staff. The breakfast was great by far the best around. The bar was a great place to unwind after the day and the you can order from the restaurant right at the bar. Would recommend to anyone visiting the nearby Colleges. The hotel is within walking distance from Wilkes and Kings and right down the street from the square.

We stayed here because of a last minute need, so we were unsure of what to expect. We could not have been more satisfied with our accommodations. The room was clean and had all the amenities we needed. The breakfast buffet was excellent and we both commented on the fact that every staff person was pleasant and helpful with any question. We certainly will remember the Best Western PLUS Genetti whenever we are in the area.

The hotel was nicely decorated for autumn. All staff were pleasant and polite. The bartender went out of his way to make every guest welcome. Clean, comfortable, inexpensive, good parking, and a downtown location. The staff is friendly and means well. If that's what you're looking for, you'll like it. If you're accustomed to something more up-scale, you might find it curious, to say the least. The free breakfast sounds great, but the buffet was unappealing -- cold scrambled eggs, weak coffee, stale pastries. The bed was comfortable, but the foam pillows were not. The sink area was tiny, with no towel racks. Several signs in public areas about security cameras and non-registered guests being required to leave by 11:00 PM made us wary, rather than secure. As for the decor -- another reviewer described it as a mix of Arabian nights and something he couldn't identify. I would describe the "something else" as my great aunt's parlor -- lots of artificial plastic flowers, glitter, cutsie knickknacks. If you approach it with a sense of humor and see the atmosphere as flowery, down-home northeastern PA style, you will appreciate the management's good intentions. If not, you might look for something more generic.

We loved this hotel! The employees were so friendly and helpful. We had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Gennetti himself (the owner of the hotel). He made you feel right at home! We stayed here when we attended a show at the Arena, it was a good experience! Our very affordable room was on the small side but was spotless and more than enough for a 1 night stay. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was more than expected; many choices.

I travel for work a lot and have stayed in countless hotels. This one was one of my favorite. Nice big rooms, wonderful staff, Great location. My wife, Me, and our dog stayed only for one night to go to a concert right next to the hotel. We had a great time.

Great attention to detail. The staff was very nice and helpful, the room was lovely and had lots of little extra features, microwave, refrigerator, clean remote control, real books and an adorable DUCKIE in the bathroom. The included breakfast was wonderful, including hot food and terrific pastry. Extremely convenient and centrally located. Right across the street from the Kirby Center. Wonderful experience, especially for the price.

Wife and I stay at Genetti Best Western when we visit Wilkes-Barrie for concert events in Kirby Centre next to hotel. Excellent hotel, Best Western here and elsewhere are our first choices for a place to stay. Sturdy, clean buildings and friendly staff.

I often travel with my pets....and stay in the designated pet rooms, an anachronim, meaning that the room is a bit worn out and on the list for a makeover. This was no exception. The room was small but on the floor I requested. The persons on the Registration Desk were fabulous. I have stayed here before and will probably again although it is a bit off the Interstate.

I have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions. I end up with the same results, a good night sleep and a great hot breakfast at a reasonable price. I will say that the hotel is due a little TLC. Will I stay there again? Planning a night in May. Would I suggest to a friend? Absolutely!

I Have stayed here several times and have always had a pleasant stay. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The rate can't be beat and it's nice and close to the colleges. We even had a dog on one visit, and I was pleasantly surprised that there was no evidence of 'dog smell' in that room or any of the others that I have stayed in. The parking lot has been a challenge, but that is an attestation to how busy this place is!

A nice, clean, super friendly hotel within walking distance to Kings College. Though not super fancy, it was a great value and very convenient. Easy cancelation of one of the nights we were originally scheduled to stay. Will definately stay again!

Booked this hotel to try to save a few bucks. Bad mistake. Should have known with the Buddha statue out front that we were in trouble. Checked in although lobby smelled like someone had sprayed 10 bottles of air freshener. Dog hair on luggage cart. Went up to room. After walking down dark scary hallway opened door to what looked like something in a scary movie. Room was dimly lit with low ceilings and wreaked of cheap cologne. Practically ran back to front desk with allergies flaring and asked for a refund. Front desk clerk was kind enough to oblige.

First, location is great, right in town--easy to find. Rooms were ok but need updating. Bed was comfortable. Front desk seemed under staffed. At times there was nobody there and I had to wait--sign saying be right back! Not a good idea! Bathroom needs updating! The bar and restaurant are in dire need of renovation! Decor is horrible! Badly done retro. No real theme. Restaurant is a combination of Arabian Nights and something else--don't know what the something else is!! The best part of the bar was Michael, the bar tender. He was great! Breakfast included and was good.

Ease of check in and courteous staff with a restaurant and complimentary full breakfast made this a wonderful stay for us. It is also pet friendly. Did not use the bar but this feature is a separate section from the restaurant so fine for families to dine.

Of all the BW we stayed in over the past year, this has to be our favorite. Nice and clean and front desk staff were wonderful to be around. Was nice to have coffee while enjoying the gas fire in the front desk area. Breakfast was also our favorite off all BW. We had real cups for coffee and real silverware and dishes to eat off.

Had never been to the area before. Booked a room after getting in from the airport on business. Stayed 3 nights. Staff was extremely helpful and even answered questions about the history of the area and directed us toward good restaurants. Was surprised at the attentiveness for being so late at night. Breakfast was very good and above average for a hotel.

Traveling, one never knows what one will find when pulling off an interstate for the night in an unknown town. We found a GEM of a hotel when we pulled off I-81 in Wilkes-Barre. The owner, Gus Genetti met us at the check-in counter and greeted us like we were old friends. He made us feel so welcome, told us about his hotel and all the amenities. Lobby was beautifully decorated, and the restaurant was beautiful. Our waitress did everything to please us and the food was delicious. After being on the road all day, we were delighted we didn't have to go out and try to find a place to eat in an unknown town. If we ever travel in that part of the country again, we will make it a point to stay at this hotel.

excellent facility would recommend to my friends. for a pet friendly facility it would be nice to have a larger area for walking pets otherwise alright. room was very clean and comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by mr. genetti as I checked in. he was leaving for the day and stopped to talk to myself and to other guests. very funny sense of humor.

This Wilkes-Barre Best Western far surpassed expectations. Parking is handy and free. Staff members are all exceptionally friendly and helpful. Rooms are spotless, beds incredibly comfortable, and showers excellent. The free breakfast buffet is one of the best around. The Genetti Best Western is A-1.

From the bar, restaurant, to front desk....i was impressed. Not in the best area of Wilkes Barre....but worth the stay for sure. Michael at the bar....Simone at the front desk...wow. I have not been used to this kind of service. Great breakfast too

I was pleasantly surprised that such an old hotel was so updated and beautiful. The rooms are very updated and super comfortable. The staff are all extremely helpful. I asked a lot of questions and was very grateful for the willingness of the staff to answer my questions. The location is great and is within walking distance to many restaurants.

Our overall stay was satisfactory. We had planned to stay at another hotel but were VERY unhappy with it. The desk clerk called BW to inquire about a handicap accessible room. Thankfully you had one and the price was somewhat reasonable (more expensive than were we planned to stay but it was worth the difference).

We stayed at the Genetti Best Western for 2 nights the beginning of September. The room was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hot breakfast was wonderful and the decor of the dining area was very elegant. However, the location of the hotel upon arrival is quite difficult without adequate room to park off the street.

We were greeted by a very friendly young man on check-in. All Desk Personnel were extremely helpful and courteous. The housekeeper that cared for our room engaged in conversation and offered suggestions. The restaurant staff was friendly and accommodating. Great location - close to Kirby Center and Downtown.

There are some definite positives about this Best Western Hotel. Parking is free, easy and convenient. The nice gentleman who checked us in (sorry we didn't get his name) was fun, friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a good, downtown location. Sadly, that's about everything we can put in the "positive comment" file. This hotel is terribly dated. The hallways are dark and dreary, as was our room. Furnishings are old and worn, and we haven't seen one of those chain security locks in years. The mattress was terrible; high on one side, low on the other, and lumpy throughout. Breakfast was good, with lots of variety. But the restaurant it's served in, again, needs a lot of work. Chair cushions were dirty and stained. There are some big decorative chairs as you first walk into the room and these all had large rips through their seat cushions with stuffing exposed. We like to patronize local hotels and restaurants when we travel, and try to avoid the big chains, but we will not be coming back to this hotel.

Stayed here for the Carpatho Rusyn Conference at Kings College, which is a few blocks away. Amazing hotel! The staff has style and takes excellent care of their guests. The owners of this hotel appear to deeply care about all the people involved with this business; both their employees and their customers. Our room was clean; the breakfast is excellent. The price is very competitive. Will definitely stay here next time we visit Wilkes-Barre.

The staff was wonderful, the hotel was very quiet and comfortable with a comfortable bed and even a business center which I had to use . There is free parking in the back and a restaurant attached. If I come to this area again, I would definitely stay here.

I loved this hotel. Spacious clean, king size room. Very quiet. Bed was extremely comfortable and big soft pillows. Towels were big and soft. Absolutely loved the 2 shower heads that had strong pressure. I slept so good. Friendly staff. Would stay here again. This may be an older hotel but I would prefer staying her over a newer hotel for all the reasons I mentioned above.

This hotel needs some updating; particularly bathroom. Our toilet broke twice and there was no maintenance on staff for the weekend. The hotel was fully booked so it seems like they could afford a maintenance person. On the upside, though, the clerk at the front desk fixed our toilet TWICE and was very good natured and accommodating. I wish I had asked her name. She went above and beyond. The staff throughout the hotel and restaurant were wonderful. They need to replace their toilets with higher quality.

I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone doing business or for vacation events or visits to Wyoming Valley. Great personnel and superior attention to one's needs during stay. Rooms are exceptionally clean and breakfasts were outstanding with a wide assortment of food and pastries.

This is a classy place. So many extra touches that we weren't expecting: one night stand had 2 books; the bathtub had a complimentary rubber ducky; the breakfast was served in the Oyster restaurant inside the hotel. It was a significant distance (at least when following our GPS) from I-81, but worth the detour. We enjoyed walking about a block to a restaurant. Parking is behind the building with access only by the hotel key. We were in a room at the end of the fifth floor (5002). The hallway was narrow so the luggage cart had to be left outside the room. The room's décor is dark, but comfortable. Everything was clean and in good repair. The staff were very professional. We especially enjoyed the young man who was tending the buffet breakfast. He was very polite and engaging. The food was good, but the setting was a real treat. The presentation with the covered hot dishes reminded us of something from Europe. It was a pleasant stop.

Best Western Genetti is always a very good experience staying in Wilkes Barre. Always helpful staff and a clean, comfortable room. Breakfast is above any hotel breakfast included in a stay that I have had. They are enthusiastically recommended for stays in the Wilkes Barre PA area.

We found this place to have Easy access from highway. It is In the heart of downtown and has key card Private parking. The breakfast had fresh fruit and even hard boiled eggs. We had instant hot water in the shower and the bed was very comfortable.

From the lounge to the dining room to the breakfast, we had to keep reminding ourselves that we were at a Best Western in PA as it was a five star experience! This one really sets the high bar of standards. Good food and the breakfast was nicer than most that you get at any hotel. The check in and check out service was very service oriented. Rooms clean and at a very reasonable rate!

I had a good it. The lady at the front desk her name is Shea she is the best. She us so so kind, respectful and so understanding. She is polite too. The bar and restaurant is to die for. The best....!

This has to be the best hotel I have stay at. Very clean and the room was very comfortable. All staff was helpful and very courteous. Check in and out was a breeze. The breakfas buffet was a nice touch.

This hotel was surprisingly nice. I was aware of the age of the hotel from growing up in that town, so I was pleasantly surprised that the rooms were updated and very clean. I was also happily surprised that although the hotel was located in the city, they had free, on-site parking. The last nice surprise was that the breakfast was amazing. (Better than most hotel free breakfasts)

The staff at this hotel is courteous and friendly, gracious to our pets (even gave us a pet gift) and were efficient on check-in and during our stay. The room was clean and bed and pillows extremely comfortable. The in-house restaurant made it possible for us to stay in once we checked in and the spicy tuna roll the best we've ever eaten. We will definitely look for another Best Western on our travels.

This is a great hotel, located 1 block away from the Kirby Center where we went to Il Divo.. Another employee mentioned that we might like the public market that was only 1 block away.. It was nice to leave our car and walk to everything. Employees were great..

We had a coupon for this hotel that we found in HotelCoupons book. Although the hotel was not on I-81, it was close. The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. The hotel was welcoming and clean. It had an outdoor pool, although we didn't have time to use it. Breakfast was included. It was EXCELLENT! Our room was very large with a very comfortable King bed. The sink was separate from the toilet and shower, which we like. I would recommend this hotel.

A nice, clean hotel with good, professional staff. The breakfast is very good. Location is also good: a few miles from Seven Tubs; not far from the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Rail Riders (minor league baseball team) stadium (about 15 to 20 minutes). Close to some restaurants and bars (walking distance). Within walking distance of the river which has a good running (or bike) path.

Traveling through the area on our way back from Cape Cod, we needed a pet friendly room. After calling 6 places, all others not having any available, we found this BW. I won't stay anywhere else in the future when in Wilkes-Barre. Chris at the front desk was amazing, pleasant, professional, courteous and this was all at a 2am check-in non-the-less... Kudos to Chris and this facility.

The Best Western Plus is situated about a mile or so from highway I-81 in the city of Wilkes Barrie. The rooms are very nice with a comfortable bed and special pillows that cradle your head for a great nights sleep! the breakfast is a full buffet style with everything you need before a long journey home. The hotel was immaculate, with nice friendly staff.

We stayed for the King's College Pinning Ceremony. The front seat staff was so nice and welcoming and everyone else we encounter was so nice as well. The dinner at the ceremony was great. The wine & beer lines were long but we still got our drinks and had a great time with family. The breakfast in the morning was great, but go early the room is very small. It was such a wonderful stay!!!

Last evening we attended our daughters pinning ceremony for the Kings College Physician Assistants program. There were seven of us in our party. We paid $35.00 dollars for the dinner and ceremony. There was an open bar cocktail hour from 5:30-6:30. We arrived at 5:40 and made our way to our table. We stood in the open bar line for over 30 minutes to get a picture of beer! Absolutely ridiculous. After a few opening remarks and the benediction dinner was served. We were table 47 out 49. When we were finally directed to the food line the true disappointment struck us. The dinner consisted of salad which was already waiting for us at our table and one can only guess how long it was placed there prior to our arrival, roasted potatoes, baked ziti, chicken francese, corn, and roast beef, and sliced French bread. There was a desert table off to the side. The Ziti was cooked so long it was like mush, the Chicken Francese was horrible and tasteless, the roast beef was tough and fatty. By the time we reached the end of the food line we were told only a few deserts remained and that they would not be bringing any more out. Genettis totally dropped the ball on what should have been a good dining experience for $35.00 per person. I'd be hard pressed to recommend this place to anyone planning an event in Wilkes Barre.

Rooms are tight and need upgrading. Breakfast was mediocre, coffee was horrible!. Beds are comfortable and although the hotel is centrally located, it was quiet and peaceful at night. Staff are helpful and friendly. Good location in tow;. easy access to downtown and walkable to many stores. Park is not far away and has great Farmer's Market with homemade goods for sale.

Our family enjoyed our overnight stay on our travel to a family reunion. Professional and engaging staff, nice lounge, comfortable room for the price, and one of the best hotel breakfast buffets we've ever had a Best Western. For the price, this was a great place to stay.

Not much positive to say. Dumpy building, tacky restaurant that wasn't open on a Sunday. The room was ok, except for the spider that was residing there with me! Carpet frayed, hallways dark, breakfast unremarkable.

Was pleasantly surprised at this hotel, great room and fantastic complimentary breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. There was a wedding there and even though we were not part of that event we were still treated very nicely and staff went out of their way to be helpful.

we arrived very, very late and my elderly mom was exhausted. chris allowed us to use the last remaining handicapped parking place so she wouldn't have to walk so far. he was warm and welcoming, as was the morning staff.

The desk staff as we checked in was very friendly and efficient. They let my daughter check in early after her overnight flight across the country, which was wonderful. Our room was clean and pleasant. The free breakfast was great and the staff friendly. Good location - close to everything.

The Best Western in Wilkes-Barre is a lovely hotel. It has the atmosphere and details you would expect for a guest in small inns. The breakfast is far better than usual in a hotel this price and there is a lovely restaurant and bar. We would definitely stay again when we are in the area.

Stayed here as part of Mohegan Sun casino promotion. Would do it again. Front desk receptionist excellent. Restaurant cook/manager welcoming and efficient. Extensive breakfast menu. Easy access in small city.

I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in the area. We loved the complimentary breakfast buffet. Was concerned about staying downtown but for the price it was 100% worth it. Best Western was the best hotel, during our road trip family vacation.

I stayed at Genetti's during a conference, because many friends had stayed there before. The hotel was great and in walking distance of all of down-town Wilkes-Barre. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, too! Everything was clean (NO bed bugs, which I worry about with hotels). Finally, the icing on the cake: the complimentary breakfast was delicious!

Our visit at the hotel began with meeting Ed at the front desk to check in. Ed or (Edward) was very nice and a pleasure with which to work. He share with us the amenities available at the hotel and breakfast included in the am. During our check in, Ed and I even caught a Dodgers extra inning win over the Giants on a double by Kyle Farmer in the bottom of the 11th. May from housekeeping gave us a tour of a few of the suites before our departure. The restaurant staff were all very helpful during our breakfast meals and all of the staff could not have been more pleasant. I even had the chance to meet Mr. G before our departure. He is a wonderful man and has done great things for the community over the years. He has tremendous respect of his employees and Wilkes Barre is lucky to have such a great community partner in the Genetti family and staff.

The entire staff is wonderful. Our room was spacious and the beds were super comfortable. Breakfast was amazing and the layout was fun for the kids. Fruit salad bar and make your own waffles. Hotel is right in the heart of town. Definitely a family oriented hotel.

I am writing to let you know about my recent experience at one of your hotels. This was my first stay at a Best Western hotel and will most likely be my last. I have worked in customer service for over 25 years and my husband is a manger in the hotel business (most recently with Hilton). I typically always stay at the Hilton brand hotels but decided to try your hotel due to the convenience it offered in regards to the proximity of the theatre where we were seeing a show. This was obviously a mistake. The staff (not counting the kitchen and housekeeping staff) were horrible to deal with and could not care less if they helped us or if we were satisfied with our stay. I have never had someone in the hotel business respond to me as rudely as the staff in this hotel including the owner. They thought nothing of belittling their customer (in front of other guests), mocking us and then talking about us after we had left the area. They have apparently never heard of the credo of “the customer is always right”. I made reservations on 3/31/17 for 2 rooms at the Best Western Plus Genetti Hotel in Wilkes- Barre, PA for a 2 night stay for July 14-16. These reservations were made directly thru the BW website and I received 1 confirmation # for the both rooms. We were looking forward to a mini family reunion with my sisters who were traveling from Virginia, Buffalo and New Jersey. We arrived to check in at the hotel on Friday night at approximately 10pm where we were greeted by the front desk representative named Jeff. He explained to us that our rooms were not together; one was on the 2nd floor and the other on the 5th. I explained that we were not happy with that arrangement as both rooms were booked together for a party that was traveling together but could not fit in one room. He told me there was nothing that he could do as the hotel was “completely sold out”. I asked for the manager on duty to which he told me that there was no manager present on the property. At this point he told me he could move the one room to the 5th floor as well but they were far apart (room 5001 and 5012). Again I asked for the manager. He called the assistant manager Tabatha on the phone and explained the situation while belittling us even though we were standing right there. Tabatha asked to speak to me and continued to insist that there was nothing they could do and that when I booked my rooms any requests were just requests and not guarantees. Now as I am familiar with the hotel business I am aware that room types (double/queen/king beds, non-smoking, adjoining rooms) are considered requests but I have never been told before that 2 rooms booked together would not be put together. I asked what they would do if we had been traveling with children to which they responded that we were not so it didn't matter. Tabatha continued to cut me off as we spoke and at one point began laughing at me. When I calmly told her that laughing at me was not making the situation any better she told me that “she did not have time for me or my problems” and hung up on me. I am still shocked at how these customer service professionals actually treated paying customers. At this time I had my sister contact your customer service # for assistance and insisted that Jeff contact the general manager. He pretended to look for her number. I asked who the next manager coming in would be and was told no one. I asked when the night auditor would be arriving (as they are obviously in a position of authority if the handle the money). Chris (night auditor) actually arrived a few minutes later and I asked for his assistance. He was rude and belligerent from the beginning saying to Jeff that he would not deal with problems since he just walked in; he told Jeff to contact the owner Mr. G. While Jeff did this customer service contacted Chris and he proceeded to talk rudely about us while on the phone. He kept insisting that the request was not guaranteed and if we had wanted rooms together we should have called the hotel earlier or arrived at a normal time for check in. I was on the phone with Mr. G at this point and told him that as per Jeff and Chris all adjoining rooms were taken in the hotel with people who needed them and it was what it was to just deal with it. Jeff went so far as to say he didn't see what the big deal was as anytime family traveled together they don't really want to spend time together so who cares if you're separated. He was quick to admit that it was the hotel error; that someone had missed placing us together when the rooms were “pre-assigned”. He told us that he would fix the problem in the morning as we had been at the desk for over 40 minutes and he couldn't fabricate a room for us. Chris then “conveniently” found another room on the 5th floor (5016) that was only 2 rooms away from the first room. Now if this has been the resolution from the beginning there would have been no issue. 2 rooms away would have not been that big of a deal and we could've started our trip on a much better note. Instead we were harassed and belittled by 2 employees whose job it is to make sure we have the best experience. My sister in law actually videoed Chris mocking my sister as she was on the phone with customer service hotline. So at this point we left to park our car and I returned to the front to retrieve a luggage cart and was surprised to hear Chris openly talking on the phone about me and my problems. There was another guest waiting at the desk and was now overhearing all the details about my reservations, where I was from, etc. This is completely against every customer service rule that I know of. We went up to our rooms and were shocked to see that room 5016 had an adjoining room which proves that they assigned the rooms incorrectly because the guests in that room obviously did not need the 2 connecting rooms. Mr. Genetti called me the next morning to tell me that they had found us 2 adjoining rooms on the 4th floor and we could move sometime in the afternoon. We told him we planned on spending the day at the pool so to just let us know when they were ready. We went out to the pool at 11am which was still closed even though it was supposed to have opened at 10am. Front desk sent someone to open it after we asked 2x. The pool itself was disgusting. The water was dirty, there were cigarette butts and clumps of hair visible in the pool as well as what looked like mold along the sides. The lounges beds had waterproof covers on them (that were wet) and nothing else. Mr. G. came out to introduce himself to me and when he asked why we weren't swimming we showed him the cigarettes and hair. He shrugged his shoulders and said someone should've cleaned that but oh well. I'll send someone to do it eventually. We decided to leave the pool as it was not sanitary to swim there and left the hotel for the afternoon as there was nothing for us to do there at this point. There had been signs posted in the lobby that the pool would be closed that evening from 4-7 and that the restaurant was closed all day for a private affair. We were forced to travel to the next town to eat lunch and keep us occupied for the afternoon. When we returned for the evening the hotel area had been cleaned up for this private event. When we went to check out on Sunday I spoke with Shae at the front desk to review the totals on my bill. Mr. G had given us a 25% discount for the first night but the numbers did not add up. When I asked why the rates were different she said that a 3rd guest is an additional $5/per night (which is fine) but that still did not equal to the difference on the charges. She could not explain it to me and told me to call Chris the auditor the next day. I have not done that as of yet as I know that he will not be willing to assist me. I am extremely disappointed in how these people treated us and how this is the way that you allow your brand to be represented. On top of that the fact that we were not able to utilize the facilities and still be expected to pay full price for our rooms is an outrage. When you book a hotel that offers a restaurant, a hotel, etc you expect that you will be able to use these facilities or I could have booked a much cheaper room in a motel somewhere else that did not offer those. There were no other accommodations made for the paying guests who were put out for this one private event. I also expect the hotel to be clean and well maintained. The degree of filth in the pool was unimaginable and for the owner to shrug his shoulders proves that he does not care about his guests or the condition of his hotel. He wants every dollar he can get but is not willing to work for it. When we spoke to customer service on Friday evening they informed my sister that they would follow up with us and that the owner should compensate us for our troubles. They have not contacted me as of yet but unfortunately for Mr. Genetti and his staff I am not just going to go away. I would like a reply to this email with a normal turnaround time. I have waited on contacting the Better Business Bureau with the hopes that corporate would like to handle the situation first but that has not happen, I've also contacted the Facebook page and all they tell me is someone is looking into it and it's been 2 weeks. I also have video of the employees yelling at us and making fun of us but since it has other people children in I will not post it publicly but did send it to the hotel directly!

We fly from Lax to Newark and it is an easy 2hr drive to Wilkes-Barre. PA.. Gennettie's is easy to get to from the Cross Valley and parking is very safe. We have stayed there a number of times and the rooms are always clean, comfortable. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Here is the best thing about This Best Western. The Breakfast is five star, served with banquet quality setting and food to match.

Everything work in the room and had no issues with the staff, so good experience, would recommend to others. Close to restaurants and downtown activities. Food prices in restaurant is a little high for me.

We stayed here one night at the end of a week-long music course at King's College. The hotel is well-run and in good shape, and it was nice to be able to walk to the square downtown very easily in order to eat dinner there.

Everything was perfect. We traveled from Florida and stayed at Best Westerns all the way and Wilkes Barre was by far the best. We were treated as Special guest from the time we entered. Dinner was excellent with large servings

This hotel had many good features, was quiet, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Upscale breakfast with lots of choices. Reasonable rates. Was right downtown and within walking distance of some restaurants. Staff were very friendly and cooperative in solving a problem that we had.

I have been to this hotel several times. I look forward to visiting it because the people are warm, welcoming and kind. There is a goodness in the hotel that permeates the building. The hotel is comfortable (beds are great), and the pool is lovely. However, what sets this hotel apart is the hotel culture and the people. I feel the natural kindness, friendliness and honesty of the employees. Everyone says hello and they remember my dog, Maple. I feel that when I visit this hotel, my faith in the goodness of people is restored. I feel valued and respected and welcomed. There is nothing false about this hotel. It is humane and human. How lovely!

Stopped here on travels with 81 year old mom. After got situated with handicap room after 2nd effort, got settled for the night. The bed is so comfortable. Refigerater in room which very handy. Breakfast included which had lots of variety to include fresh fruit and yogurt. Quiet. Nice stay.

From the time I walked in I was treated like I was the most important person. From Simone at the front desk to Chef Kevin this hotel is the best . The hotel is very clean outside and inside.The rooms are clean and comfortable. I don't stay at hotel down town but this is one I will go back to.

Although the downtown location of the hotel was a distance from Interstate 81, it was well worth the drive. The staff was courteous and professional. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. The bed was a little springy. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and served a delicious dinner. The waiter, Michael, was the best. Complimentary breakfast was excellent! The hotel was the one of the best Best Western Inn that we ever stayed at.

They have the most hospitable staff! The hotel is clean and accommodating. Great free breakfasts! Nice swimming pool. You can even rent CD's for $2 for your in room viewing pleasure. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Room was very dusty, gloomy and outdated all rooms from floors 2-5 are extremely outdated 6 floor was more modern and more update to best western overall standard pool area need some tweaking on appearance as well

The hotel is ok. Could really use some renovation and painting. Breakfast was just ok - lots of things were out even though the guy working was really working hard. (Think he needed help.). Highly recommend a cover for the cut fruit - lots of fruit flies swarming. Front desk staff very was nice.

THE GOOD: This is a historic hotel originally built in 1926. It is also the only hotel left in center city Wilkes-Barre. The history of the building and the location made it a pretty cool place to stay. It's within walking distance of several new restaurants and the shopping area in downtown. The customer service at the hotel was very friendly and we even met Gus the owner in the elevator. He was very friendly and welcomed us to his establishment. The rooms themselves and the grounds are kind of dated but the mattress and the pillows were extremely comfortable, and the rooms all had refrigerators and microwaves inside. THE JUST OK: Like I said previously, the hotel could definitely use some renovation. The interior hallways, carpeting and guest rooms are all dated and drab. Some fresh paint, new carpeting and room furniture would definitely brighten the place up and give it a more comfortable feel. For the most part our guest room was clean however the shower floor did have some spots of mold on it. We bought a bottle of Clorox spray and cleaned it ourselves prior to using the shower. THE BAD: The hotel shares it's space with the Genetti's banquet room. Our hotel room while on the six floor was located above the banquet room. On the second night of our stay they had a party going on in the banquet room playing loud, bass heavy music. The music was so loud that it rattled our room and we actually left to go out to get some drinks hoping that the party would be over when we got back. At 11 o'clock the music was still playing extremely loud and we were unable to sleep. We called the front desk and were told that the party should be wrapping up soon. At 1:45 in the morning the music was still going full blast and we were told that the party had extended until 2 AM. I'm sure the hotel made a lot of money on the two hour extension however we got very little sleep that night. MORE GOOD: The customer care representative did contact us in the morning to inquire about our complaint. She was very courteous and took $27 off of our rental for the night. Considering we didn't get any sleep until after 2 AM we think they could have done a little bit better. Being a former resident of Wilkes-Barre, I would love to see the city succeed. If Genetti's Best Western is going to be part of the future of the city they are going to need to update their hotel, sound insulate their banquet room and modernize their property to compete with the new chains opening on the outskirts of town.

Check in was a breeze. Hotel honored my requests for specific location. Elevator moved quickly. Room was clean and spacious. Television was crisp and clear. Staff was nice. Location of hotel was perfect for the FM Kirby Center just a block away. In-hotel restaurant, Oyster Restaurant, was very good. I would stay again, no doubt.

We booked this hotel because of it's proximity to the FM Kirby Center (basically right next door.) It's an older hotel, but rooms are nice, comfy, clean and well equipped, and the staff was great. There is also a very lively bar/restaurant around the corner that was the perfect place for the "after-show". I will definitely stay here again, if the situation presents itself.

We only stayed 1 night for a show at The F M Kirby , our first time at this hotel , had a wonderful stay and very good breakfast , the pool looked very nice but we didn't get a chance to swim , felt safe in the area to walk around

Staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and smelled fresh. The food was also very good. I'm glad I booked the reservation and would stay here again. It is also located close to a lot of local things such as the city square where there are lots of open air shopping opportunities.

Found the staff very friendly and accommodating and went out of their way to make our stay a positive experience. Rooms were clean and bed was very comfortable. Maid service was excellent and we were happy with how the room was maintained during our stay. Always asked by the maid on our floor if everything met our expectations and if there was any problems to let her know. A full breakfast is offered every morning which is included during your stay.

We stayed one night to attend a concert at Kirby. Front desk staff as well as housekeeping were super friendly and polite. Room was fine and overlooked where the band's tour bus was parked. There is an outdoor pool but no one was using it the day we stayed. We had the complimentary breakfast buffet which is served in the Oyster restaurant on site. Lots of nice choices including scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon and sausage, bagels, pastries, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, juices and teas, coffee, etc. AYCE and we didn't have to stop for lunch on the way home. We would definitely recommend this hotel to people seeing a show at Kirby!

This hotel is very old and not maintained The hallways had a musty carpet odor and were not clean. The pool area way dirty along with the complete exterior of the building. The buffet breakfast was a buffet style breakfast which is on average with most 2.5-3 star rated hotels. The hotel was also staffed at a very low level with the receptionist or other staff members missing from area's of the reception desk, bar area, or lobby.The hotel is also located in a less desirable part of town if you have children.

We needed a place to stay that took small pets. Scranton area was the half way point between DC and upstate NY. Our search presented Mr. Genetti's Best Western in downtown Wilkes-Barre. I have never stayed at a Best Western but what a pleasant surprise!! An older hotel, but the rooms were very nice and the STAFF...wow. Whether the front desk team, maintenance gent in the hallway, restaurant staff (actual chef wandering the breakfast room) or the employees working on a project near the parking lot...I have never met a staff so genuine and friendly. Such service (from all members) can only occur if the owner/operator exudes something special. I never had the opportunity to meet Mr. Genetti but his staff sure had a lot to say about him. We have now stayed at the hotel twice and will stay again. Well done, Mr. G ... oh ... I (for one) appreciated your welcome note in the room. Keep up the great work! Mike

Very clean & quiet rooms, excellent staff, close to shopping and dining. Room was a very nice & perfect for our needs. Was able to get fresh air into the room which was a bonus coming from a small town

Overall one of the best Best Western stays I've had in awhile. Breakfast was very good with a range of selections. For bikers, there was a "Hog Pen" out in the back parking lot which offered covered parking for about 5 large motorcycles. That came in handy during my stay as it was raining.

We always stay in Wilkes-Barre traveling North from Florida but this was the first time at a best Western Plus and first time at Genetti's Best Western. We will plan to stay here in the future...loved it! The staff was so pleasant and helpful and the food was fabulous!

I was looking for a place to stay off I-81when I pulled off the highway in Wilkes Barre. All the immediate motels were fully booked so I put Best Western on my GPS and there was one about 5 minutes away, in downtown Wilkes Barre. I'm so glad I did! I have stayed at a lot of Best Western motels, but this was THE BEST. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well decorated, the restaurant has good food at reasonable prices, the complimentary breakfast is extensive and the customer service is excellent. I especially liked the bedding, pillows and comforter. I will look for this hotel next time I am in the area.

I loved the hotel. A 7-story brick hotel just a block from the city center. The customer service was amazing, the room was comfortable. There is a restaurant in the hotel and that is where the breakfast is. The breakfast had everything you could want. I loved being close to everything - walked around the town where there are many restaurants, walked down to the river just a few blocks away where there is a nice walkway along the river. I would recommend this to anyone going to the area.

Saw several questionable guests (pretty sure I witnessed several drug deals, prostitutes) one even chased us down the elevator with no pants on. Staff was excellent but overall wouldn't stay in this area again. The hotel lobby and ballroom is older but the rooms are updated and nice.

We most always stay in Best Western hotels when they are available where we are traveling. The quality of our stays are always great. When I made the reservation I did not ask where it was located and at first I was concerned with the inconvenience it might be to travel into the downtown area. We we very happy with the ease of the parking. What a nice downtown! We loved the availability of walking around the corner to a restaurant for a bit to eat and a few drinks. What a nice downtown!! (We could not use the restaurant and bar because of a wedding so this was very convent.) The rooms was great and very clean. The beds were the best we stayed in during our 2 week road trip. The breakfast was one of the best we have ever had. The staff were genuine and so helpful. We liked the personal touches of the note under our door in the morning. It was way more personal than a copy of the bill. A little poem on the stand was appreciated and we liked seeing the photos and a little about the family who owns this location on the wall near the check in. We prefer not to stay in Bed and Breakfast locations so when you are on the road so after several days of hotel stays there can be an isolation with other people and these personal touches were very nice. In all the years we have traveled this is only the 2nd time we have seen anything like this done. We have always remembered the The Best Western in Estes Park, Co. for the same reasons. Check-in and out was easy. Free b'fast buffet, wi-fi, free parking, room had fridge, was updated, very clean. This hotel prices itself to attract travelers and it's well worth it. A mid-level price for a higher level hotel. Some outside noise, but it was a Friday night! Beds were super comfortable - which is an important as anaything!

We stayed here recently for an event in town and didn't feel like driving far. Everything was great. From the rubber duck in the bathroom, to the service. In fact, my wife left her sweater in the room, and they called us to let us know they had it! Now that is great customer service

This is the best Best Western we have experienced. Service was great and rooms were updated and very clean! The breakfast was buffet style and much better than average. Our room was quiet and the complimentary happy hour was great! Chris was extremely professional as we checked in at the front desk. We will definitely be coming back!

This hotel is the best we've stayed at in years. Beautiful decor, friendly/helpful staff, great room. Old world elegance at a modest price. We highly recommend it as the place to stay in northeastern Pennsylvania. Its restaurant, Oyster, has excellent food and good service. We ate all meals there. Server, Michael, was especially helpful and attentive.

Spent one night here. The hotel is just a two minute walk to the city square where there are numerous eating and retail options. The staff was excellent and caring. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. The complementary breakfast was awesome. Great place to stay while in Wilkes-Barre.

We stay at BW hotels regularly. We stayed at this one in January, 2017, and, because of our experience, stopped here again in May, 2017. The room was in great shape, providing a great evening of comfortable rest. Breakfast options and food quality was perhaps the best of any BW where we have stayed......actually, no other hotel where we have stayed offered as road an option of breakfast items! If looking for a hotel in the area, you can't go wrong with this one!!

The staff was great and friendly. The room was very quiet and bed was very comfortable. The hot breakfast was also good. They had bottled spring water for guest and free news papers available for guests.

You are literally attached to the FM Kirby Center. Out the side door, you see the tour buses where the performing artists park. Nice room, great breakfast, adequate internet service which could be slow at times.

I look forward to our stay at Ginetti's to and from Florida. Quality at every level and a wonderful restaurant so we don't have to get in the car again. Excellent breakfast to start us on the next 600 miles.

Simone warmly welcomed us and cecked us in, spoke about local eateries and generally gave us the lay of the land. She could not have been more solicitous. Our housekeeper Ellen was just excellent. Helped get us settled, exchanged key card that did not work and did a great job on the cleaning. She and Simone deserve a bonus. The restaurant was fair; they made errors in our order but did try to rectify.

Everything about this hotel was superb. From the very pleasant and helpful receptionists, to the cute little rubber ducky in the bathroom, to non-denominational reading material in the room, to the full buffet for breakfast ...everything exceeded my expectations. The little touches showed that the owner really cares about his customers. In fact, he has written a personal welcoming message that is left on the pillow in every room. (If the chambermaid forgets to put it in your room, be sure to ask the receptionist for a copy.) It put a smile on my face and a tear in my eye when I read it. I will go out of my way to stay here in the future.

Visit Misericordia University so we decided for an overnight here. Staff were very friendly as we pulled in at nearly 9:30 at night, tired and hungry. Ordered from the restaurant on sight - great burger and fries - very friendly staff again! Breakfast was a delight a eggs,bacon, sausage, French toast, sweet breads and yummy coffee. That was a surprise and sealed the deal in how good a value this was. Clean, well decorated and again great staff. The only negative was the lumpy bed pillows. Ugh - all four were lumpy but that's an easy fix I suppose.

We are snowbirds heading back to Canada and do not usually venture too far away from the main highway (81) but it was well worth it. They honoured a discount hotel coupon all with a friendly, courteous reception. This was a stark contrast to our experiences with Marriott and Sheraton hotels previous nights. The room was clean, updated decor and the beds were very comfortable. It is within a walking distance of several restaurants. We enjoyed a complimentary drink in the hotel's restaurant, Oyster which has a substantive menu. The complimentary breakfast was fantastique, exceeded our expectations. Everything was cooked fresh, no processed food. The staff are efficient and friendly. This hotel offers the best value given the quality of the hotel and services. We enjoyed our stay so much, this will be our hotel of choice in our future travels.

Don't understand the good reviews about this hotel. This hotel is simply outdated!!!! Old and bad smell!!! I felt living back in the 70's. The only positive thing about this place was a friendly staff and not a bad restaurant

Wonderful staff and generally very well run hotel, Rooms are super clean and comfortable, everything was great for my stay. Breakfast was very good, well presented, plentifull and hot. good selection of breakfast foods and fresh fruits and juices. Hotel is quiet and has great stuff within walking distance.

My employer booked this room for me so I had no choice where I stayed. Room was comfortable. Staff was, for the most part, friendly, every place has one or two depending on the day. I did not get to have breakfast, as I had to be to work before they served, but they did give a grab and go bag that sufficed. Too early for the outdoor pool, but the weather was very nice. The coffee they offered in the lobby was great. I did not eat in the Oyster Restaurant. The prices were beyond my budget, but Oz's Pizza makes great spaghetti and lasagna and they deliver. Found the brochure in the rack in the lobby. Free parking in the lot behind the hotel was nice also. Internet was spotty at times, but you get that at other places also. It is the obstacles of the job at times. I would definitely come back if I had the opportunity.

Our son goes to school in Scranton, PA. He plays on the College baseball team with home games Sat & Monday. We took our dog, so we needed a pet friendly room. I personally know the owners of the Best Western in Cobourg, Ontario, Canada and he recommended the Best Western In Wilkes- Barre. We thank him for that as our stay was terrific.

Everyone at this hotel was very welcoming and the service was wonderful. Clean and comfortable room. The breakfast was one of the best I've had at a hotel. I will definitely stay here whenever I'm in the area.

We've stopped at this hotel many times on Sunday, travelling home from Florida. We just canceled our reservation there for this Sunday, as we learned their restaurant in lo longer open Sundays. After spending the day in the car, a meal is an absolute must. This hotel is now off our list for the annual journey home from Florida. Shame.

I was at the hotel because my father had passed away, it was a terrible reason for a visit. The entire staff, but especially housekeeping, was so kind and accommodating to me and my needs. Always pleasant and smiling, they made sure I still had the items I needed when I requested them, since I chose to keep the do not disturb sign on my door for the entirety of my stay. That did not detract from having fresh towels, coffee refills, etc when I needed them. I believe one of the supervisor's name was Judy? She was a wonderful person. The rubber ducky.... Can I just say what a small little something extra that had a large impact that little touch is?!! I was so sad and grieving the loss of my dad when arrived after a full day of travel from Texas, and when I walked in and saw that, it put a smile on my face. I just thought it was adorable and a great touch. I've never seen anything like it, and everyone I've told agrees what a great touch that was! Great job all around people! I've never had a better stay anywhere, and that is saying a lot when the reason for my stay was so hard.

Location was close to great hike trials and lots of places to grab food nearby. Complimentary breakfast buffet had great variety of hot and cold food . staff was very polite and accommodating will definitely return !

I stayed at this hotel February 7 for my husbands funeral on the 8th April in Wilkes Barre PA. The bed and pillows are fantastic, water was HOT. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, I LOVED the fireplace in the lobby. As for the Restaurant.. The dinners were great and the buffet had everything you could want and more. The atmosphere is very relaxing and enjoyable, love the statue in the entrance way of the restaurant and the fountain in the lobby. There is coffee in the lobby free, parking free. I also had a buffet luncheon served for all my guest after the funeral and Amanda the Manager did a fantastic job of taking care of me, and the young lady who did all of the work on the actual day, well she was terrific, forgive me I do not remember her name. The front desk took such good care of the flowers I had delivered for my husbands grave. This is a really great hotel to stay in if visiting the Wilkes-Barre area. We attended a lovely church only 5 minutes away. Turned out there is a theatre 5 minutes away as well that has concerts. My boss Kevin treated us all to an Elvis impersonator concert. It was icing on the cake after such an emotional and anxious but sunny day sending my husbands on his final journey next to his Grandfather. This hotel helped make that difficult moment so much easier. I will be back in June for a few days.

The hotel is located close to Wilkes University and Kings College. Wilkes University campus is within a 3 block walking distance. The amenities at the hotel are excellent. The hotel offers a free hot breakfast to guests of the hotel. The restaurant staff are friendly and helpful. The check in/out desk personnel are extremely kind and helpful. Even the housekeeping staff go out of their way to greet guests.

Have stayed at the Genetti Hotel before and have found it to be a very good hotel. The hotel is an older establishment but has been well maintained and the guest room interior was in very good condition, linens fresh and in good condition and the shower was great. The hotel staff is very receptive to pets. I have recommended this hotel to friends and family who travel with pets as well as others who have to travel through the Scranton/Wilkes Barrre area.

I have stayed at this hotel when traveling through Wilkes-Barre PA. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Rooms are spacious, bathrooms updated. Beds are quite comfortable and cannot beat for the price. I have been at many 4-5 star hotels that are on par with this one. Oysters dining room has amazing food. A "pearl" for the city. I would stay here again without hesitation.

We arrived late evening, left early morning for a flight. Cannot comment on the area around the hotel, but it seemed to be in the middle of the downtown area. The service was quite good. Since we left before the free breakfast was available the front desk person put together a breakfast bag for us. On top of that she brought it to our room so we did not have to wait for her to put it together. Outstanding. The tv channel selection was very good. The bed was very comfortable. A pleasant stay.

Attended a sports award ceremony. Absolutely the worst I have ever been. Service was horrible some tables didn't get food at all. Bread came out 25 min after dinner was served. The price paid per plate was crazy for what little you got.

I called ahead to ask about a king room, and was told it would be no problem. Checked in and was given 2 queens. All because I booked through a 3rd party? Why stay for 2 nights? Never again! This is not my first time here, didn't have a problem last time... Very disappointed. Still have another night to go. Should of known better.....

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights-what a great experience. I have never encountered a group of staff that were so outstanding. The facility was clean and I felt very safe. Breakfast every morning and staff working in the dining room were superb-you typically do not get this type of breakfast complimentary in a hotel. The owner made it a point to make his presence know each day.

Everything about the Genetti was excellent - the room and various facilities, all of the staff, and the palpable sense that everyone took pride in their work and wanted (successfully) to make the guests comfortable and well served.

I completed a Best Western survey of the hotel, rating it as mediocre as this review, and I got a reply from one of the Genetti family asking for additional information about how to improve the hotel. So in fairness, they are genuinely interested in improving the hotel and are about to embark on a 5-year plan of updates and improvements. So, a big kudos to them. Undoubtedly, this has the best location of all the downtown hotels in Wilkes-Barre with a short walk to good restaurants and the Performing Arts Center. But it is an old and outdated hotel with small rooms, limited natural light and paper thin walls. We heard all kinds of noises during the night from other guests. The breakfast offering is nowhere near as good as other Best Western hotels that we have stayed in and the restaurant itself looks like a bad 80's style disco (why have a Buddha head in a restaurant called Oyster?). The staff are however very friendly and good. But, I won't be returning until the full update and improvements are completed.

When your tired and looking to end the day on an amazing note ... Or for that matter any day, I hope that Edward is at the check in desk. Most check in employees do an adequate to ok + job, but come check Edward out he is a m a z I n g!!! The room was great and I loved the crisp bacon full of flavor and all the other item I checked out on the buffet. The staff was very helpful and helped start my day on a positive path.

This is an older Best Western with rooms that have recently been updated. Has all the advertised amenities, beds were comfortable with 3 pillows, and towels were plush. My first room had a ac/heater that screamed meaning a quiet night would be impossible. The front desk switched me to an adjoining room without any argument. But why was I given a room with a malfunctioning heater in the first place and have me waste time moving? Breakfast was very good with eggs, meat, fruit, yogurt, cereals and breads. The other negative was the dusty condition of the room; there was a good skim of dust on bed head and picture frames. Very quiet location.

A+! Amazing front desk- friendly, helpful and accommodating and even gave my doodle treats and poop bags upon arrival. I wouldn't consider the room "dated" at all actually, it is your typical Best Western traditional decor and most importantly for us- it was clean, even the pet friendly room. Other places I've stayed keep their "dog" rooms less then up to par assuming "dog" people will keep the room dirty. Anyway, I appreciated the cleanliness due to my dog being hypoallergenic and cleaner then many humans. Ordered room service from Oyster, also A+ both service and food. Noticed Dominos being delivered a couple rooms down. Overall, a great resting point for a long journey- and highly recommended! Thanks!

The owner, Mr. Genetti, greeted us (and seemingly all other guests) at the entrance of his hotel! We were hesitant to stay in downtown Wilkes-Barre, but they have their own parking area in back, and the area is very nice. They presented us with a nice doggie-bag for our little dog, Lucy. It was late when we arrived, so we reluctantly ate in their dining room and were so glad we did! Their Italian meatballs and lasagna and everything else we ate were delicious and extremely reasonably priced. And the breakfast buffet was the absolutely best we have had in the US - even had (on alternate days) grits or steel-cut oatmeal (which Carol enjoyed), fresh cut-up fruit salad, and too many other items to list. Not at all like the typical "hot breakfast" served at other restaurants (which used make-it-yourself Belgian waffles as their "hot" item). Their nightly cost is very reasonable! It is our destination now, whenever we are close-enough - we will drive longer or shorter to stay there!

Hotel somewhat dated but very comfortable. Large rooms. Tv lacked major movie channels. Buffet breakfast was good but not great. Very good downtown location with plenty of eating options. Housekeeping could have been better in servicing room but room was very clean. Good parking.

people really make you feel welcome and want to please. directions a little off if starting at the very first light to 6th light. really friendly and helpful great. would have liked a pet friendly room on first floor so we didn't have to wait for elevator. The purpose of this trip was to meet up with family from Boston. Sort of a middle meeting place. This was by far one of the best stays I have ever experienced anywhere. While checking in after a long day on the road I was greeted by the owner, Gus Genetti. He introduced himself, welcomed me to the hotel, gave me a candy and a hug. Chris at the desk was friendly and efficient and made the check-in process go very smoothly. I was checking in with my husband In a wheelchair and a dog so had my hands full, but everything was handled easily and before long we were in their wonderful restaurant having an amazing dinner with our family. The property was very clean the entire time we were there regardless of time of day. The staff in every capacity was truly dedicated to making our stay perfect. Simone at the desk and Ellen in housekeeping as well as the breakfast staff were friendly and professional at all times. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a good stay in Wilkes-Barre and hope I can find a reason to return and stay there again. Also, the location was perfect for the activities we had planned and the places we wanted to go.

My fiancé and I had the opportunity to travel to Wilkes-Bare, PA last weekend. Having stayed at the Best Western in Agusta, ME as a line haul driver in the past, and finding the employees at that hotel to be extremely courteous, we decided to search for a Best Western on this trip. We found one located on 77 E Market Street in Wilkes-Bare, PA. We were looking for a low rate for the night and we were pleasantly surprised to find out that my previous stays in Agusta, ME earned me enough points that I actually had 2 free nights coming to me. Simone and Shae at the front desk were extremely helpful and courteous, taking the time to research this for us. The room was very comfortable and the complimentary breakfast was delicious and had an unusually large assortment of hot food. My fiancé and I plan to come up to Wilkes-Bare again on 11/26 for the Red Cross Holiday Craft Show at the Kingston Armory only a few minutes away from this Best Western. We plan on staying for two nights to enjoy everything in the area including the Mohegan Sun Casino less than 20 minutes away. My wife and I stayed at the Best Western Genetti last weekend when we went to a concert at the Kirby Center. The hotel is literally a half a block away from the entrance to the Kirby Center, so it's a perfect place to stay. Before the show we had dinner at Oyster (the hotel restaurant). The food was excellent, the service was terrific, and the prices were very reasonable. The hotel itself is an older building, however it had been renovated within the last 5-6 years. The room was large, clean, fresh, and had everything we needed to be comfortable. They gave us a voucher for a free breakfast brunch the next morning, it was a delicious breakfast, consisting of coffee, juice, cereal, pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and a delicious yogurt and fresh fruit bar. All in all a very pleasant and comfortable stay at a very convenient hotel.

Whenever we travel, the first hotel chain we consider is a Best Western. This trip did not disappoint. We spent 14 nights in a hotel, 10 were in Best Westerns and all of them were very nice with pleasant staff and really good breakfasts.

We luckily happened upon this hotel and were extremely pleased with the comfortable accommodations which included old world decor mixed with modern conveniences. We didn't expect the bottled water, rubber ducky, and lovely amenities in our room nor were we expecting the free, full breakfast in a delightfully decorated and totally functional cabaret setting. The check-in was easy and fast with a really nice, professional, kind, informative person. The free, protected parking, the fitness center, the pool, the restaurant on the premises along with room service, and the 24/7 snack bar were other added bonuses. This is one of the nicest all-around hotels we've ever found and are proud to recommend it to others!

Our check in was simple and the provided a complementary rubber duckie for the kids. Room was a bit cramped, but was quiet and clean. The morning breakfast buffet was really good - fresh food and all deliciously prepared.

First time staying here but won't be our last! Booked this hotel specifically because it was pet friendly and it has exceeded all our expectations. At check in we were actually given a treat bag for our dog. It contained 2 milk bones and 2 doggie poop bags. What a tremendous idea! Our room was spacious, clean and included a rubber duck for the bath tub. We had dinner in the Oyster restaurant. Service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. Gus Genetti came through while we were dining and stopped to chat. What a nice surprise in this day and age. The atmosphere in the restaurant is warm and relaxing. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating.

Found hotel on TripAdvisor and decided to stay. Our stay at the hotel exceeded our expectations. The stay was wonderful, the room and bedding were great. The hotel is only a short drive from Interstate 81, but we'll worth the short drive. If you have a cell phone , set it for this location, you will be happy you did.

Because of my fondness for the Genetti Hotel in Williamsport, I reserved a room at the Wilkes-Barre Genetti on a recent trip to attend an Elton John concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena. I liked the downtown location; took a walk after checking in, found a nice restaurant. The staff I spoke with were super friendly and helpful. The room was very nice; well appointed and I slept well, which isn't usual when you're not at home. I LOVE the Genetti breakfasts! Scrambled eggs, fried red-skin potatoes, bacon or sausage patties, plus the usual cereal, etc. GOOD coffee (so important). I had a 2-hour trip home and breakfast kept me satisfied till past lunch. It was an easy trip to and from the Mohegan Sun Arena (concert site). Well done, Genetti! I will definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for one night on business, and it was perfect. Check-in took literally 3 minutes. Shea was extremely nice, and gave answers and recommendations. Room was on 2nd floor, extremely clean, very comfy bed, lots of towels, bottled water in the mini fridge, easy to operate heat/air unit. Ordered room service, which arrived in just 15 minutes and was delicious, and the waiter said not to worry about a tip, because he was taken care of in the service charge. Cheaper than eating out, and relaxing to not leave the room! Breakfast was WAY more than expected, and free. They had EVERYthing. Parking was easy, elevator was fast. Will DEFINITELY stay here on next trip to Wilkes Barre. Corporate rate was $101 - perfect!

Night 4 of me and my husband's road trip and this has been the best stay so far. The hotel is clean. The bed was great! The breakfast was above and beyond and the staff was friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Hands down absolutely the nicest Holiday Inn we have ever stayed at. Our King bedded suite was perfect and well maintained. The room was so quiet and the bed so comfortable we didn't want to get up in the morning. We had the breakfast buffet each morning and it offered enough options to please most people. We sat outside by the fire pit one evening with a glass of wine and had a thoroughly enjoyable conversation with a couple from VT. We would certainly return here in the future.

We stayed here when we attended a show at the Kirby Center. Perfect location with good customer service, very comfortable beds, free parking and complimentary breakfast. Close to restaurants and bars.

We decided to stay at a Best Western as we enjoyed these hotels this summer on a trip out west. This hotel was a pleasant surprise as being in downtown Wilkes Barre we weren't sure what to expect. Very nice hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Chris welcomed us at check-in. We enjoyed the excellent breakfast in the morning. We'll definitely stay here again as we travel through this area several times a year.

We've known Genetti Hotel (now Best Western) for years. It is an older style hotel with narrower room entry and bathroom area.. But he staff was welcoming and helpful. The full, hot breakfast is sumptuous.

My mother and I stayed at the Genetti Hotel to break up our drive to and from Vermont. The staff were very friendly and especially helpful to my elderly mother. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast buffet was great.

We stayed at the Best Western Genetti in Wilkes-Barre, while attending the Outlaw Festival at Montage Mountain, Scranton. The staff were very friendly, the complimentary breakfast was one of the best we've had, at any hotel. We would not hesitate staying there in the future. Two thumbs up!!

We were at mother-in-law house and it was 8 PM in the 90s. I could not stay there since it was so hot so I called around and found this hotel 15 miles away. They took Lilly (granddaughter's dog). We were all so happy just to have a place with Air conditioning to stay. Room was wonderful. It was clean and cool. The staff was also wonderful as was breakfast. I can not think of one thing I would recommend that they do to improve.

The buffet on weekdays is delicious and quite affordable. Took 12 friends for a birthday lunch and only cost approx. $100 plus a tip. You've got that right - about $6.95 a head last time I was there. Salad bar, sandwich bar and certain days have different hot foods. We've been there when they had beef on the carving station and another time with Italian. There's a nice variety - not like some places that have rows of food but very nice and appetizing. The one thing that's wonderful - the warm bread and butter station, mmm to die for! We've had a mushroom soup that was delicious as well as some excellent sandwiches with a variety of meats and cheeses. Dessert isn't really offered on the lunch menu - but drinks are included and the atmosphere is beautiful and quiet by restaurant standards. It's like a hidden gem in the center of Wilkes Barre - I would have never thought to go here for a lunch buffet till searching for a place to take my Mother for her bday. For the price I thought I'd give it a try - we've taken a group of her friends every year for the last 5. Oh and parking -- just tell them you're having lunch and they'll let you park in their private lot for free so no street parking either! Enjoy!!

Was in town for a concert at the Kirby Center and was very happy to find the stage entrance was right across the street and short walk down the street to the main entrance. Hotel was clean and comfortable. If your in town for a show at the Kirby Center this is the place to stay!

Chose Best Western Genetti based on the hotel rankings. We were not disappointed. Everyone and I mean everyone we passed or had contact with was friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was above most hotels offerings. Parking was free, nice in the city. Room was everything we needed. We were very happy with my choice, would stay again!

Nice place, is it the best? No, but it is decent enough, I have to say they have Great Breakfast though. The sleep room was okay. Didn't like the location, across from Stirwell and next to housekeeping laundry, back in a corner. But I have to say the lobby is pretty nice and the pool area is nice too. Housekeeping didn't make up my rollaway bed, all the staff at the Front Desk was very nice, cordial and helpful, even came up to kill a big spider on the ceiling in our room, he was very nice about. Great location, right in the heart of downtown Wilkes Barre.

The lovely lady at the front desk was above and beyond wonderful. She was both professional in appearance and diction. She was genuinely caring and helpful in every set of the check-in process. The lady at check-out was charismatic and worked well under pressure since the building was operating without Wi-Fi (city outage). Patrick, the waiter at Oysters, did an impeccable job and was pleasant company during my solo dinner one evening.

An older rust-belt motel well situated to most needs. It has been updated in many ways, has a very helpful open staff and is very clean and comfortable. A real strength is that the #2 rated Resturant in the area, Oysters, is right in the hotel and provides super room service! Unfortunately, it was closed one of the two days we stayed there. The buffet breakfast is served there as well and is a cut above most motels. Parking was tight but okay and traffic noise penetrated our room which was on a low floor for the dog. Incidentally, the cost was $15 per day for the dog.

If you are. attending a concert at FW hall, then this is the place to stay. One block away, Hotel was clean, employees courteous. Room was clean and neat on arrival. Ice on odd floors. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is near wilkes university and kings college as well as about 20 minutes to u scranton ..What a nice hotel with a great breakfast ..The front desk was so nice CHRIS and simone were so friendly ..The breakfast was great ..would come back again

I am unsure why this place has many good reviews. This place did not live up to the expectations set up by the reviewers. 1. We booked ahead using a “hotel reservation website”, yet when we arrived there was a big hassle getting checked in because they did not bill the room correctly 2.Maid service did not make our beds and did not give us the correct number of towels 3.Upon checking out they initially double charged us for the pet fee. Luckily my wife caught it before we had left Besides these specific issues, the whole place is badly in need of a renovation, everything looks at least two-decades old. In addition based on reviews we were excited about the breakfast buffet, however we found it to be just average for this class of a hotel. The quality of the place does not match the price in my opinion.

We first chose Genetti's Best Western when my daughter wanted to visit Wilkes University so we could better understand what it would be like for her to live there. The hotel is only a block and a half walk to the edge of the University. We enjoyed the mixture of people we met there. It is always nice to see the people who stay there for a wedding. The Complimentary hot breakfast was terrific and had many options for our varied dietary preferences (we ate our fill). The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are nice, and the staff has always be courteous, friendly and accommodating to my occasional "extra" requests. We will stay there many times over the next four years while our daughter attends Wilkes University.

Stayed over night to take our daughter back to Kings College. We stay once a month to visit our daughter and we have never one thing to complain about. We can only rave about the cleanliness of the rooms, the friendly staff, and the wonderful complimentary breakfast buffet! We wont stay anywhere else! Thank you again!

Our bus of 47 got here expecting the usual Best Western hotel, nice, but nothing too fancy. The rooms were great,The breakfast was "out of this world". The chef even came out to meet us. We can hardly wait to return in a couple of weeks with 51 more friends. Highly recommend!!

I always enjoy this hotel. The staff are friendly, the rooms are nice, and the breakfast is great. It's a nice place to stay in this region, even if ti takes a few minutes to get there from I-81. It's worth roaming around Wilkes-Barre a bit, too. The downtown area is a nice surprise.

This hotel is amazing. Excellent service- a home away from home. Clean, well appointed rooms, little 'extras' and a friendly staff. Highly recommended. They have nice touches, like a rubber ducky by the bathtub. Food was very good. Close to the center of Wilkes Barre and shopping.

From Hersheypark transiting to Kalahari resorts, we decided to stay in Wilkes-Barre because of a deal I got from Priceline and with 2 small kids. This hotel is dated, but still clean and decent. The hallway's narrow and carpet is dark and wornout. The hotel ambiance is definitely not modern, but there are some remains of elegance specially in the Oyster Bar and Restaurant where this hotel got its big plus. They serve above average continental buffet breakfast. I would give them 3.5/5 but since there is no such thing here in tripadvisor, I am giving them 4.

Decided to begin the vacation a day earlier and booked this hotel as an almost midpoint from upstate NY to DE. Got a very nice price on the room last minute thanks to Priceline but it was the deal where they pick the hotel and you find out after you commit. A little nerve wracking I suppose but it worked out fine. Hotel was def not a Hilton but it served our needs and was very clean. They serve a fabulous breakfast that was the highlight of our mini stay in PA. Parking lot is a little dark at night and it seems to get very noisy as the night goes on. I'm not sure what exactly we were hearing but take note....when you're winding down the surroundings appear to be winding up. Good hotel for value and location if you're travel through PA to get to east coast. P.S. Don't miss breakfast??

When we walked in I noticed in older gentleman in a wheelchair talking to a younger woman. I went to check in and noticed that the man was now speaking with my husband. I commented to the clerk that the hotel obviously had a "greeter." She smiled and said he was the owner! I finished and turned towards them and he greeted me with a big smile. After a few moments he said "You must have a name" so I answered "I do," trying to be funny. Then he introduced himself and we chatted a little. Our room was spacious and in good condition, comfortable furnishings. However the fan in the bathroom was old and annoyingly loud. Even worse, some roof mounted A/C units were outside our window and pretty much woke us up when they cycled on. I did appreciate that there were 2 luggage racks in the room and wish all hotels did that. Although Gus Gennetti bragged about the Oyster restaurant in the hotel, we had a poor experience there (see my review.)

The breakfast, the carefully chosen facilities and furnishings, the employees, and the welcoming atmosphere made this hotel unforgettable, the best deal for the money we've ever had in a hotel. Ordinarily I prefer a hotel closer to the highway, but for this excellent hotel I'll always be willing to drive a few miles.

This was the best stay we had on this eight day trip. The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly. The room was absolutely clean, dinner was very good, but the complimentary breakfast had everything from eggs, bacon, ham, potato, fresh fruit, cereal, breads, yogurts and all the drinks.

Stayed overnight on our way to New England and upon arriving the friendliness of the staff set the tone for this wonderful stay. Although it was only one night, it was refreshing to have someone so welcoming upon arrival, plus finding a very clean and well kept room. I cannot say enough about the wonderful staff and the cleanliness...two of the things we feel is our top priority when staying at a hotel. The bathroom was a little small, but the rest of the room was quite roomy.

I have to say I'm pleasantly impressed with the quality of the hotel. Beds are above average, they have pillow top mattress and a good comforter. Bathroom was very clean and felt like they took care in making sure every guest was satisfied. All guests get free breakfast in the oyster restaurant which to be honest I was expecting average breakfast food. I WAS WRONG. The breakfast buffet was amazing! It had fresh scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, sliced potatoes, a yogurt bar, waffle maker, cereal, warm cinnamon buns, oatmeal, cut fruit...I could go on and on. Overall I was amazingly impressed at this hotel. The only downside was that even though parking was free for guests ($4.00 non guest) it was very hard to find parking. They only have a lot for about 50 cars and being a convention center in was expecting more, but I cant blame them. We will absolutely stay here again if we happen to pass thru here in the future!

Genetti's Best Western Plus in Wilkes-Barre PA provided my wife and me with one of our best stays ever. The place was immaculate, the staff welcoming and attentive to our needs. The rooms were roomy and with excellent TV and WiFi and the breakfast was actually luxurious in menu and service. We give it a 10 out of 10.

I have to say that from the moment I made the reservation until the moment my spouse and I checked out, I had pretty much a flawless experience with this hotel. The customer service rep who helped me with my reservation actually saved me a decent amount on the room rate just be explaining the benefits of being a rewards member. The reservation took about five minutes. It was great to find a hotel that welcomed two pets and I think the 15 rate per pet per night was reasonable. Upon arrival, the woman at the counter was extremely welcoming, smiling, and gave off an air of friendly professionalism. My check in process was quick and easy and in no time we were headed to the fifth floor -- room 5003. The room itself was nicely appointed, very clean, and spacious. There was a microwave, mini-fridge, tv and dvd player. The room also had a coffee maker. The king size bed was so comfortable, and I wish I knew where to buy the pillows because we LOVED them! We ordered take out and were annoyed when the restaurant didn't send plastic-ware (to a hotel!!!) but a quick trip down to the front desk yielded all I needed from a male and female clerk, both smiling and seeming sincere. When morning arrived, we went to the breakfast buffet inside Oyster, the hotel's restaurant. The wait staff was great. All were friendly, said "good morning," and were attentive. I even wondered aloud if their cheerfulness was indicative of how they are treated as employees. I like to think so. The buffet was actually really good. Fresh eggs, breakfast meats, yummy potatoes, fresh fruit, danish, etc., etc., etc. My spouse wasn't a huge fan of the coffee but it was no big deal. We stayed our second night equally comfortable and happy, especially to have a clean bathroom, something which seems surprisingly rare in many hotels. Nothing was stained or worn or seemed outdated. Maybe the ceiling in the bathroom wasn't new-looking but that's the best complaint I can come up with. As we packed to leave, we noticed the note from the owner, Mr. Genetti, a heartfelt welcome and anticipated welcome back, and that was the icing on the cake for us. We would definitely be back. Check out was really a breeze because we provided a credit card at check in. We got an emailed invoice and that was it. No need to visit the front desk, not that I would have minded. Other noteworthy things not mentioned before: the lobby is nice. There are carts for guests to use to transport their luggage. There is decent parking for hotel guests, though on one night we did need to "improvise" a spot. The pool is on the smaller side but nice and not many people were there whenever we went by it. The ice machine on our floor was not working so we needed to go to the third floor but we chalked this up to things happen. There are no smoking rooms available so if you're a smoker, you must go outside. When we arrived, our dogs were given treat bags. Nice touch! In the lobby area you can get complementary coffee and ice water with lemon. There is a TV there as well. There are many restaurants close by and a lot within a short driving distance. It's comfortable, welcoming, and guest-centered. We will definitely choose this hotel the next time we visit. For a "three-star hotel," we'd rate it five stars. Mr. Genetti, thank you for being an affordable home away from home. We look forward to returning in the near future.

We were traveling from Maine on our way home through PA and happen to stay at Best Western Gennetti Hotel & Conference Center. It was the best place we have stayed at in a very long time. We arrived late in the evening and when we made the reservation, the person at the counter indicated they would call if we were later than we said to check on us. The room was excellent, very clean and comfortable. The four us had an excellent nights sleep. The breakfast, which was included in the price of the room, was really unbelievable. They had anything that you might want for a breakfast and it was excellent food. I would highly recommend that anyone traveling in the Wilkes-Barre area and needing a room for the night consider the Best Western Genetti Hotel & Conference Center.

After having been on the road for 5 hours, I needed a place to crash quickly. I am traveling with 2 small children and they were cramped and exhausted. I googled hotels in the area and landed on the Best Western Genetti. I am SO glad I did!! First off, the front desk clerk was great. He was friendly and super helpful, as well as extremely patient with 2 overtired children at almost 3am. He got us checked in quickly so we could get rest. We got to the room, which was beautiful. King sized bed, which we all fell into and instantly fell asleep. The kids wanted to watch a little TV and my one and only complaint was that the clicker was hard to use; the up button was broken - which was fine because it was 3 am! In the morning, the kids and I all took showers. The shower was awesome and the kids loved it. Breakfast was such an amazing spread! Pancakes, waffles, toppings, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit.... you name it, they had it! Servers walked around to check and make sure everything was up to par and offered help if needed. As we were preparing to check out, I met the owner, Gus. He was so kind and asked about our experience. I had nothing but good words!! I would definitely recommend this hotel. The staff alone makes it worth the stay but the whole experience was perfection.

We stayed here last weekend. Wanted a place near the casino. We were very pleased with this hotel. Very clean, friendly staff, great breakfast and comfortable beds. We would definitely stay again. We walked to the Sussquehanna River Trail and to a Boscovs right up the street. Short distance to drive to Mohegan Sun Casino. Good location. One downfall was we asked the bartender to give us plastic as we were going to the pool and he indicated it didn't matter. Since we were the only ones at the pool (nice pool also though could have been skimmed more often) we took our drinks and promptly got yelled at by one of the staff. Then they came and posted a piece of paper saying no glass in pool area. Ok we are 60 not 16 and realize no glass should be at the pool but as I said we did ask for plastic. Just thought they could have handled that a little better and more politely.

A smaller but very comfortable and stylish hotel with a beautiful pool and deck, great lobby and wonderful restaurant with delicious food -- even seafood, and I'm from the coast -- as well as a great bar ("The Oyster"). All the staff is always friendly, responsive, and professional, especially Chris! The rooms are spotless. I like to stay here even when I'm not on business.

We Enjoyed Our Stay ..... My wife Loved the Bed ..... I enjoyed the Breakfast ...But they need to work on the coffee ....it was a little bitter .... I did not know they had a pool , but next time I will bring my bathing suit ....Thanks for the Good night sleep !!

It is often hard to find a nice, clean hotel that accepts your fur babies! This hotel exceeded my expectations...upon checking in I let the lady up front know that I have a puppy and she handed me an adorable treat bag with doggie treats and waste bags. It had cute little puppies on it~ Parking was right behind the hotel and semi-private. Sometimes when we have stayed in big city hotels I worry about my car...not so here. The room was super clean and everything thing we needed to be comfortable was in there. Super friendly staff, great complimentary breakfast (delicious and fresh). I don't usually fill these things out but was super impressed! This will be our new regular on our way to New England from North Carolina! Thank You again!

The hotel was excellent! The lobby and breakfast lounges were amazing. Very plush and luxurious! The rooms were a bit small for two bigger guys, but that's to be somewhat expected. We'd found a used razor head left behind by a previous guest on the sink, wedged behind a folded towel "sculpture." And there was dirt/grit around the edges of the room. The exhaust fan/light in the bathroom had exposed wires and cobwebs up in the duct work. The shower head was either stripped or broken, and spraying the ceiling. All in all, I'd still return to this hotel. It was quiet, and the beds were comfortable. Only the room showed some general wear and tear that's to be expected from an older hotel.

My best friend and I exclusively stay at this hotel for girl's weekend (she and I meet in the middle from Buffalo, NY and Dover, DE). We love it for the price, the AMAZING breakfast, and the caring staff that always laugh at our corny jokes. This place is the best!!!!! Diandra and Shay, thank you for making this particular trip really wonderful. You ladies are why we keep coming back.

I was really impressed when I walked in the door with my exhausted family an pup. We had been in the car for several hours on our journey back to NY. We decided to stay at genettis which was a little off the highway but the downtown atmosphere was really a nice perk since many things are within walking distance. We were greeted by a friendly woman at the front desk named Shea. She was so warm and accommodating even to our pup ( she gave him a treat bag which he loved). The lobby is clean and decor is classy. Everything from the hallways to the room are spotless. We was impressed with all the little detail from the rubber ducky on the tub , the greeting on the bed, Mr Genettis inspirational books, the list goes on. You can tell that he really does care about the guest experience and although I don't know him personally seems to be a very inspirational man. Just a couple of things upon arriving with bags in hand and my dogs leash all the lights were off and the rooms and hallways extremely hot. Also when walking around the hotel looking at all the wonderful history I was sweating and uncomfortable. Luckily after we did return to our room and the ac kicked in and another shower I was cool and relaxed. Beds are great too. Breakfast buffet was by far the best I've ever had and complimentary. Kevin the chef was so nice to everyone. Pool area nice. OVERALL great experience minus the mini heat wave .

Great hotel experience. The service was excellent, the pool was nice, room was a decent size, and the breakfast was delicious! Hot breakfast buffet included. Dinner at oysters was great too. Martinis, lobster, and filet mignon were all terrific. Can't wait to go back!

The rooms are run down, and the directory is filled with misinformation, so that when you call the desk and ask for services, like room service at a time specified in the book, you are actually berated for trying to give them more money. Not a fan.

The hotel was very modern and updated considering it is an older hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. Nice outdoor pool. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent restaurant and service. Walking distance to downtown events.

On a recent motorcycle trip to Lake George, NY, a small group of us happened upon Genetti's Best Western. We weren't looking for anything fancy, just a place to sleep before heading home. We typically stay in motels. What a pleasant surprise! From the girl that greeted us at the front desk to Mr Genetti himself, everyone was as friendly and helpful as I have ever witnessed. I would expect such treatment at an expensive resort. Thanks for everything. If we wander through Wilkes Barre again, we know where we are welcome.

The facility is beautiful and the staff are extremely friendly, helpful, and funny! Plus, the breakfast buffet is excellent!! Highly recommend them. We attended a wedding here and the reception hall, food, and service were outstanding! One evening, we ate dinner a block away at Cafe Toscana. It was a fantastic Italian meal.

We have stayed at this hotel for 3 years on our trips to & from Maine every summer. It is always a pleasant stay, mostly because of an exceptional staff but also because of its clean, quiet rooms & wonderful breakfast. This year we have to give special kudos to Simone at the front desk, Kevin for a delicious breakfast & Chris at check out. The hotel's in-town location is another plus as you can park your car & walk to dinner. We highly recommend it!

The place was very clean and had everything I needed. Best part is, every employee was very courteous and very nice. Every single staff member said hello every time I would pass one, even if they were coming in for their shift or leaving for the day. I have never got that any other hotel.

My husband and I spent one night here on our way back home from Maine. This is probably one the friendliest hotels you will ever come across. The Oyster restaurant was fabulous! It was so nice to not have to leave the hotel for dinner after a long day's drive. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean!!!! I couldn't be happier that we ended our vacation trip with such a great hotel. The owner takes hospitality to a whole new level!!!!

My daughter & I attended the 2 day Freshman Orientation for Wilkes University. The staff is always kind and friendly. The complimentary breakfast is the best of any hotel I have ever stayed at. The proximity to the University was key to our decision to stay at Genetti. This was our second stay. We will come again. Highly recommend it!

We stayed 2 nights on July 1 & 2. There were some issue with very small items that I wrote to Genettis about. Surprisingly I got a call from Gus Genetti who expressed concern and was sincerely interested in my experience and more so interested in correcting any deficiencies. In this age of poor customer service I found this refreshing and surprising. Clearly Mr Genetti is interested in remaining the number one hotel in the Wilkes Barre area. If the man whose name is on the building is that proactive and hands on there is no question I would stay there again.

We stopped here for the night on our way home to NC from Canada. We chose this hotel because it was rated #1 in the area and had very reasonable rates. When we arrived in the middle of a freak rain/flood storm, the owner met us at McDonald's and guided us to his hotel! The room is clean and comfortable and there is a very nice restaurant (Oyster) attached to the hotel, with delicious food and excellent service from Michael. It is a pet friendly hotel and my husband is allergic to animals, so we were alarmed to find a few dogs on our floor, especially since I mentioned this fact several times. We were assured that the pet friendly rooms are at the ends of each floor but our room was only 2 doors from the end. It's probably better to have just one lower floor dedicated to those with pets. This way they are not in the elevators and all over the hotel. Otherwise, we considered this hotel a real find and the attached restaurant a most welcome surprise. Having the owner on the premises was another perk.

Had no idea where to stay. Found this hotel within walking distance of restaurants and sports bars in downtown Wilkes-Barre. The person who checked me in was great (didn't get a name - it was the night of 7/7/16). Restaurant, pool, free parking, clean, free-wifi. Very good rate for a downtown hotel. Didn't use the pool, but it was tempting.

Surprise of staying in downtown Wilkes-Barre was the clean, friendly and relaxed atmosphere at this Best Western. The staff was about the best I've experienced in years. The outdoor pool was quite nice for children and for relaxing. The presentation and quality of the complimentary breakfast was above average - pretty darn good. The reception and housekeeping staff were welcoming and very helpful for tourists. Parking, always an issues in downtown areas, was very easy to use for in and out.

An older hotel that has been updated. Very small rooms, great staff. Although room not made up on second day until we called in the afternoon. TV remote not working. Quite even though it's inner city. At the price point that they are at overall experience should have been better.

Was in town for business, the staff was amazing and made us feel very welcome. As we were checking in, the owner saw us...he came right over and welcomed us with a smile and a hand shake. We were out and returned late, they made sure the restaurant stayed open so we could eat...the food was great but the service was even better...I highly recommend anyone traveling near Wilkes Barre stay here, you won't regret it!!!

In the heart of downtown Wilkes Barre, close to everything. Outdoor swimming pool, microwave & mini refrigerator in room. Complimentary Hot Breakfast Buffet included something for everyone - best home cooking away from home. Great customer service from the to front desk to the banquet hall staff . I hope there's space for hubby and I every time we come in the area as we will reserve it. Shea is simply amazing! She demonstrated such compassion and care for the residents and was very attentive to each person who walked in the hotel; very observant while being respectful to customers current at counter. Awesome job staff!!!

We only stayed one night but this place is a gem. It has that old school feel (NOT old and run down) from the days when hotels were special places to stay. It is a little dated, but in a good way. Everything is clean and nice - not upscale, but you can tell it has some history. The breakfast is crazy good for the price. It is literally like a breakfast at a five star hotel. The chef is constantly fussing over the fresh, delicious hot items, served in fancy stainless serving dishes. The restaurant has an awesome feel from a 60s Bond film or Dean Martin movie. Highly recommend this place.

Excellent experience. We chose to spend the night after a family wedding (6/25) even though we live within 10 miles. Everything was lovely starting with the cocktail hour,fabulous dinner and superb accommodations. Our room was quiet despite located in busy Downtown WB. We did not hear any outside noise and the inside corridors were also quiet making for a great night's sleep. Don't overlook the beautifully assembled Directory that includes local history. This hotel is part of a huge chain but it's beginnings and to this day are Gennetti family oriented. Thank You to Shea for such a warm welcome and to Chef Kevin for an outstanding breakfast.

I travel a ton for work and stayed at many hotels but I have to say this is one of the best I've been in. I've stayed here a few times and when in Wilkes-Barre this is the go to. Shae, an employee, is always so welcoming, unbelievably helpful and so friendly. After a long day at work she welcomes you with a smile and ALWAYS asks how my day went. Goes for the whole staff. Pet friend and clean. I highly recommend.

This was without a doubt one of the best, if not the best, BW hotels we have encountered. The breakfast service and layout was great and the food all fresh and tasty. Due to location in the downtown area, the pet walking area was small and was not, during our stay, well-maintained. However, when informed of the maintenance issue, the staff at the front desk addressed the issue immediately.

My husband and I along with some good friends stayed Friday night at the Best Western...The staff and owner were amazingly kind and the service was exceptional. We did not have a reservation (we were traveling and our plans changed at the last moment). We could not have picked a more friendly place to stay. The hotel accommodations were good, the location was close to the downtown night spots and an easy walk. I can't say enough just how wonderful the staff were, especially Diandra and Simone...both were hugely helpful to us. We will be back to see them sometime, guaranteed!

This is a family-run hotel that prides itself on taking care of its guests in any way possible. I missed my flight but they still managed to have a shuttle driver waiting for me outside of the airport at 12:30 in the morning. The room was clean, the bathroom was spotless, and the food was excellent. As an added plus, Mr. Genetti's (hotel owner) vintage cars are on display on the street and hotel property. What a treat! My reason for staying at the hotel was business, but it was more like a vacation. I came back rested, relaxed and happy. I hope I have more business in Wilkes-Barre, PA as I will surely choose the Genetti Hotel to stay at in the future. A special thanks to the staff which made my stay extra special. Hats off to Ed and Simone.

I stayed at the Genetti when I went to the Ringo Starr concert. It is within walking distance of the Kirby Center. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly. I got a good night's sleep and the hotel was very quiet. The breakfast was very good.

Although this is an older property it is very well maintained, rooms updated and the staff could not be more gracious and helpful. We have been to Wilkes Barre area many times but had never stayed downtown. We found this was so convenient to several wonderful restaurants we could walk to for dinner and a great local department store that I frequented daily! We never ate lunch since the bountiful hot breakfast served as part of the room left us too full! Very relaxing and comfortable bar. Parking was convenient as well. We were close to the high school for graduation and the stores to help our granddaughter get her supplies for college. My husband used a wheelchair and had no problems at the hotel at all. We would definitely stay again when in the area. Being greeted by Mr. Genetti at check in was a special treat as well.

Excellent caring staff both at restaurant, Michael, and desk, Dianayana et al. Not only were they professional but truly caring about our stay and wellbeing. Also the breakfast was one of the best restaurant offered breakfasts we have even seen!!! I am gluten intolerant and they even paid attention to my needs.

Booked this while traveling on the highway and had no idea where the directions might take us. Well, it took us to a marvelous Best Western in downtown Wilkes-Barre, PA. Reservation desk was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Small pool with a quaint (could use an update) patio area with many beautiful blooming flowers, which we did not use because of a limited time constraint. Dinner at the Oyster Bar (?) was great. Our server, Michael, was very helpful and informative of the many items on the menu. Room was very clean and had a "clean" remote which we like. Complimentary breakfast was very good and hot. This might be in our plans to return on our way back through again.

We were in town for a big poker tournament happening at the Mohegan Sun Casino. Not knowing the area, I booked this Best Western (BW) because of its high ratings and cost. Please note that it is located in the somewhat desolate area of downtown. It is about 15 mins away from the casino. From the arrival to checkout, the customer service was ultra friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is the best I have ever seen at a hotel considering it is complimentary. Richie, the breakfast supervisor is super sweet, and attentive. Parking was free and there is a tiny pool if you need to take a dip. My only complaint would be the size of the room. It was a little tiny. Other than that, the cleanliness and overall experience was spot on!

This is a wonderful hotel. It may not be the most updated or fanciest property or in the best part of town, but this hotel is unlike most corporate hotels. The owner (Mr. Genetti ... I believe he has owned this hotel since I was a child) is very involved and greets every customer, every employee treats you like family, and they even treated my little pup fantastically! It's run like an old school family operated hotel, and I mean that in the most complimentary terms!

We had a late check-in and found a clean, quiet and well designed room with great decor. Beds were comfy and the TV had a clean remote which stated it was cleaned daily. The breakfast was prepared by a chef who greeted each guest and served as needed or suggested dining ideas for food — very unexpected for an included continental breakfast. Great stay and we have plans for two returns on other trips this year.

This is basically your standard hotel in terms of facilities. It was a bit careworn, but very clean, and in my book cleanliness trumps everything. Even at that, when I say "careworn" I'm thinking of those reviewers who find fault with places on a molecular level. My room had a teeny tiny bit of rust stain around the bathtub faucet. But like I said, the room was clean. What, are they going to renovate a whole bathroom for a teeny bit of rust stain? Come on. Second to cleanliness is personnel, and I can honestly say the Best Western Genetti Hotel had one of the friendliest-without-being-overbearing desk clerks I've encountered. That is much appreciated. Last but not least are the little personal touches. I loved what the message card on the pillow said, and there was a cute surprise in the bathroom (see pictures). Yes, I would definitely recommend the Best Western Genetti Hotel as a home away from home.

I arrived at the hotel and they did not have the room that I had booked a 2 bed room. I was given a king size and a roll away bed which was unacceptable, but I had no choice but to take it. The third party company, whom i cannot mention, that was responsible for my reservation, never informed me the 2 beds in a room were sold out.

We stayed at this hotel because they are pet friendly. Our dog is 135lbs so not many places accept him. Best Western was great. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They gave great suggestions on things to do in the area. the room was very clean, the beds were very comfortable, bathroom was modern and clean. We had a wonderful weekend away. We will definitely choose it again.

No one wants an issue when they travel. Unfortunately, that was our luck. The staff went out of their way to assist me with my concerns and made me feel like a valuable guest. The extra mile that their employees went was something I haven't experienced at other chains. Thank you!

This is a wonderful hotel. They go above and beyond expectations to make your stay and the quality of service is beyond compare. I will not stay anywhere else when I am in this area. The pool is beautiful, the breakfast is fabulous, and the staff are so freindly, you might think you at a family get together.

Room service added an additional Tip to the room service bill, after I gave him a Dam Good Tip in cash. Don't forget to draw a Line through the tip line if you give a cash tip, he only added $4.00 but its the point

The hotel is the place to stay if you are visiting Wilkes Barre. It is clean, convenient, and has everything you need. We stayed there while in town for a concert - Joe Bonamassa. The hotel is right across the street from the concert hall. Great experience. The staff was excellent - Simone at the front desk was especially helpful

Overall a very good hotel priced reasonably. It's an older facility so don't go expecting anything "fancy" but it's clean, the staff are nice and everything in the facility is functioning. I found the included breakfast to be better than average and was quite good with a nice selection!

This hotel is excellent! Location off the highway and in the center of town-but with easy access, safe parking-and quiet! The staff is friendly and professional. The room was tastefully decorated, everything spotless and in working order. Super breakfast buffet. Highly recommend!

This hotel was beautifully appointed, parking was free, the free breakfast was outstanding and the service staff was lovely. The price was great and we would definitely stay there again when we come to visit our daughter who is a student at King's. We were able to walk to our event at her school which was very convenient. Nice job!

We were returning from Raleigh NC to Ottawa Canada we planned a stop here. After a horrendous drive through rain, traffic like I have never seen and construction, the 6hour journey took 11 hours. We were greeted with a reception that was both happy to see us and sympathetic. Arriving at 10 pm we were pleased to find the restaurant open until 11pm The food and the service was supreme. In the morning I made tea and the housekeeper when requested went a returned with fresh milk. The breakfast was a full buffet with scrambled eggs, I asked if I could have two fried eggs over easy, the chef said " It would be my pleasure" After the drive there, this hotel lived up to the hoteliers creed.

All was perfect including the staff! Clean, comfortable, kind staff, usual buffet breakfast but attention to detail made it special. Parking free and on site. Also very nice restaurants in area for dinner.

This place exceeded our expectations. The room was clean and quiet and came in at under $100 with all taxes. It was walking distance to the river and downtown shops so we didn't have to drive after checking in. The breakfast was excellent and the employee there, Rich went above and beyond to make our meals perfect. Shae, at the front desk was also very pleasant and accommodating.

My wife and I stayed here on May 12, 2016. What a wonderful find as we exited highway 81 after a long drive from just outside Toronto, Ontario, Canada. So happy we came across you. We will definitely include your hotel in our future travel plans and will recommend it highly to others. We were greeted warmly on arrival by Shae at the reception desk and then welcomed by the owner Gus Genetti with whom we chatted for several minutes. We were made to feel at home right away. Our room was large, well appointed and comfortable with free wifi. The fridge was very handy. Our dinner at the Oyster Restaurant in the hotel was a culinary delight. We chose the spinach salad with warm bacon dressing, chicken parmagiana and chicken marsala all of which were delicious and memorable. Kudos to the chef on both the taste and presentation of the dishes. Our waiter Travis ensured we wanted for nothing and his attention to detail was meticulous. He was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Thank you. The hotel even provided a complimentary drink for each of us to enjoy at the bar outside the restaurant. Wow! The restaurant is so very elegantly decorated and its atmosphere inviting and warm. The complimentary breakfast in the morning offered a wide variety of choices both hot and cold - all very appetizing and nutritious. My mom and I visited Wilkes-Barre a few weeks ago on a rather last minute trip. We were attending an event at the Kirby Center and were pleased to find this hotel is practically just yards away. (From the bus station, too, which was our mode of transportation.) We were greeted warmly by Shea ("like the stadium") at the front desk when we arrived. She assured us that she reserved one of the hotel's best rooms for us. The accommodations were lovely -- a big bed with plenty of pillows, a couch (that pulled out into a bed) with a coffee table, and a chair with a footrest. There was also a desk with an office chair. The television had all of our favorite cable channels, plus there was a fridge and microwave, which was great to have! While exploring the streets of Wilkes-Barre, we ran into Shea, whose shift was over for the day. Still, she stopped to make sure we were getting along okay and gave us some recommendations of places we might like to check out. The next morning, a lovely woman named Simone was at the front desk and she was just as peachy. She made sure our stay was up to par and offered to hold our bags after check-out, as we had a couple hours to spare before our bus home. The complimentary breakfast is served buffet style in the hotel's restaurant, which was a full breakfast that you would pay several dollars for at a diner. Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, yogurt, a variety of breads and muffins, coffee and other beverages... Delicious. Everyone we encountered, from the front desk receptionists, to the cleaning crew, to the restaurant workers were all kind enough to stop and make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. I don't have a single complaint about this hotel. I don't know how often we'll be making trips to Wilkes-Barre, but if/when we return, I will not hesitate to book our stay here again.

We travel to/from FL and NH several times each year. We have learned to plan our driving to be sure we can spend a night here. We stumbled on it by accident originally...lucky us! It is an older building, but they maintain it well. The rooms are extremely comfortable, well appointed, and quiet. Everything is spotlessly clean. The rooms have little touches such as welcome messages and books to read. The staff is so warm and inviting we always feel welcome. The water pressure in the shower is heaven after a long drive. This is clearly a hotel that is well run to keep standards high. Another plus is the attached restaurant. The free breakfast is a banquet of hot and cold selections, and the chef comes out to visit with guests. Dinner is unbelievable...don't miss it. Weather permitting, a dip in the outdoor pool feels great after the drive.

My stay was very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was one of the best I have ever had. It was not microwaved food. Yes it was served buffet style but it was very good quality of food. Every bit as good if would have ordered from a menu.

The staff at Genetti's is top notch and the breakfast is fantastic. Plus the location is right off Public Square and within easy walking distance of anything you need. Don't stay on the interstate, stay downtown and get more.

The room was super clean and ready. Safe parking. And the chef was not only extremely welcoming- he made the eating environment such a great experience. I would come back here for sure. The staff at this hotel excels in service and friendliness. The rooms are very clean and the entire hotel exudes strength in service and overall eagerness to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Make sure there are no rock or rap concerts booked at the nearby performing arts center as the base speaker shakes buildings, or ask for a room that is not on the side of the Center.

This is an extremely nice hotel at this price point. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and I must say, this one has it going on. Great staff, great free breakfast (actual hot breakfast), super clean and comfy rooms.

Hotel was great as usual. Great comfortable room with accent on the little things. This was our third time staying here. Internet was good and a great breakfast. The only disappointing thing was that the hotel dining room was closed on Sunday, the day of our stay. One of the reasons for staying here was because of the dining room. Overall though it is a great hotel and would recommend this to family, friends and anyone else who is travelling.

ALL staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean. Walking distance to restaurants. Great breakfast. Had our dog (small) with us and staff was very accommodating. They only charge $10 for dogs. Best hotel in the area. Stayed on the 4th floor and was very quiet. We would stay here again if in the area.

Before we arrived we were concerned that the BW Wilkes-Barre was a distance from the highway. After our stay there we were convinced that it was worth the effort. Facilities are great and staff is the best yet. A lot to see and do in the downtown area Breakfast was a highlight

I stayed here with a group of friends as we were attending a performance at the Kirby center. Parking was a breeze and it was a convenient walk to the Kirby. There are many local eateries just a short walk away. Rooms were clean and the breakfast buffet was awesome...not your typical hotel breakfast. The staff was friendly and helpful. I will definitely return to this hotel.

We went into the Oyster rest. located in the hotel and wanted to just order hamburgers. We were told hamburgers were only offered on the in room service. The owner who just happen to be in the restaurant told the waiter to prepare the hamburgers to be eaten in restaurant, the waiter than advised that french fries come with the hamburger free if ordered through room service otherwise the price would be $4.00 per order Owner overheard waiter and told him to give us the french fries with no charge. Simply great. Thank you Mr. Owner

a wonderful surprise that offers an excellent value. The breakfast was great. It was unexpected to find real scramble eggs on the menu. Everyone was very friendly and the rooms were spacious and clean.

This hotel far exceeded my expectations. The hotel was elegant with a touch of 1930's-40's influence. The entrance way and check in counter both had lighted fireplaces. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. The rooms were nicely decorated and had an added personal touch with a welcoming letter. The furnishings were all in excellent condition. The management of this hotel takes great pride in keeping it in great condition. We were greeted on our way in by the owner at 7:30 p.m. I will definitely make a point of staying there in the future. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the area and the price was very reasonable.

We stayed overnight on our way from Florida to New York and were extremely pleased. From the moment we entered the beautiful lobby to the time we left, everyone on the staff was professional, friendly, and helpful. The place had an old world feel that had a touch of elegance--totally unexpected! We dined in the Oyster Restaurant, off the lobby. Our server, Michael, was charming and professional. The décor was lovely and intimate. Food was very good. This hotel was the highlight of our long road trip! Many thanks.

This was or destination for our 2nd night on the way hoe to MA from FLA. We have two small dogs, so we need to stay in pet friendly hotels. The hotel is in downtown W-B a couple of miles off of I-81. They charge a $15 fee for each dog. The rooms were clean but a little dark with a small bathroom. The staff were very pleasant and they presented us two small gift bags for our dogs; a very welcoming gesture. Another very positive amenity is the free hot breakfast buffet. It was one of the best we have experienced. One oddity we did encounter after we left the hotel was to find an open gas station nearby. The first one we went to had been shut down for a while; the second one was closed (it was 8:00 on a Sunday morning). We finally found one that was open several miles away.

This hotel is located downtown Wilkes-Barre, a short distance from I-81, which makes it convenient for Best-Western customers to stop at during Spring and Fall commute. The hotel staff was very friendly, helpful and caring for our needs. The on-site restaurant provided excellent menu items served by friendly and caring staff. I recommend this place for any type of travel in central Pensylvania.

While driving from Florida to Massachusetts I saw (and stayed in) a lot of dumps! This Best Western was awesome. Clean, spacious and had everything I needed. The restaurant was great and within my budget. I will definitely stay here again in the future. A good value with a very friendly staff.

The entire staff at this hotel is extremely friendly and helpful. From the time you enter to check in you are greeted with a smile and kind words. Simone, Shae, Tabitha, Chris, or Ed are always warm and helpful. If you get the chance to see Gus Genetti, he will gladly extend his hand and thank you for staying. The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of the public square. The buffet breakfast is head and shoulders above the typical "continental" breakfasts. I now stay at this venue frequently and sometimes will drive a few more miles to be comfortable here. Thank you to Gus and the entire staff.

My husband and I were in town for a show at the FM Kirby Center. The BW was right next door and was everything we needed. Centrally located to everything in Downtown Wilkes-Barre, we were able to park the car and walk everywhere we needed to go. All of the staff were pleasant, breakfast was excellent and the bed was very comfortable. No complaints, and would stay there again.

I read up on the reviews. Nice older hotel. Would recommend the hotel. Right downtown. Only negative would be was our room had scuff marks on the walls, bathroom was small and walls messy. Breakfast was good. Pet friendly. Parking lot secure.

Great hotel to stop at on return north. Great value and a good restaurant with fantastic service. Our waiter, Michael, gave a quality of service much greater than one would expect. The food portions are large so be careful unless you are really famished. Location is downtown so read directions carefully as GPS may take you to the next street behind hotel.

We stayed here twice on a recent driving trip to/from Maine to Florida. We picked it due to TA reviews and Bring Fido reviews as dog-friendly. The hotel is very clean and comfortable and located downtown near the Public Square where there are several bars and restaurants within walking distance. I-81 is only about 5 minutes away. The complimentary breakfast was very good and included hot and cold items, buffet style. They are very dog-friendly and only charge a $15 fee for pets which is very reasonable as compared to other places that gouge you as much as $100; they even give you a pet gift at check-in with a couple of poop bags and some dog biscuits. Every member of their staff that I encountered during both stays was pleasant and smiling and went out of their way to be welcoming and friendly, including Gus Genetti himself whom I randomly encountered at check-in on my second visit. If you are traveling with a pet (or not), this is a great place to stay.

Great Hotel, Great Staff, Great Service, Great food. Wait staff each had a personality. Administrative staff extended themselves over and above normal. My plane was 3.5 hours late, the hotel President picked me up at the airport, himself, because the shuttle driver was done for the day.

Always stay here when visiting family in W-B area but the last stay was especially remarkable. Traveling with daughter and granddaughter and wanted us to each have a bed for good sleep before a 9 hour drive home. Asked for a cot to be added in to the 2 queen bed room. Before we got to the room with our luggage cart they were setting up the cot! They had to move a large chair to do it and it was all done cheerfully and willingly. The beds and cot were all super comfy. Simone at front desk is a gem. She knew us and even called me after I left to alert me that I had left my Bible in the room. Kudos to the housekeeping staff for rushing it to her as soon as they found it. This hotel is definitely worth seeking out from the highway. The caring is palpable. The location is perfect for shopping at Boscovs, eating at Bart & Urby's, walking to Kirby Center, movies, farmers market on the square, and of course visiting the colleges. Breakfast buffet is well tended. I know Oyster is a great restaurant -usually visiting family but have eaten dinner there as well. I hope this WB institution continues to prosper through its consummate customer service.

Upon entering the hotel, the parking was a bit of an issue, just so I could go into the lobby & get checked in. That was really the only issue I had. The man that helped me checked in was friendly as ever. I really enjoyed talking with him. When I got to the room, it was very comforting to walk into. It was clean, very well lit--once I turned the lights on. The bed was comfortable, it was just a very nice, quiet place to spend the night at after the show I saw at the Kirby. That was also another reason why I chose this hotel is that I could just walk to the Kirby and back to my hotel without having to worry about parking. The breakfast was amazing. There was a variety of choices that I could chose from and it was satisfying enough for me. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I can't wait to come back to PA, and this is where I'll be staying! Simone was very helpful arranging my stay and transport, Shae got me to the hotel on arrival, and Diandra made sure I got back when and where I needed! The shuttle driver not only carried me safely from the airport but also showed me around the campus where I was to be the following morning, in addition to showing me the best route and some places to eat. Stayed for business, and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The icing on the cake however, was their customer service. I had unknowingly left behind a small item that had very great sentimental value, something I have carried for 3 decades. Before I even noticed its disappearance th Hotel called to advise the maid service had found it and immediately volunteered offered to mail it back to me which they promptly did. A big shout out to their maid service and an extra shout our to Diandra, who so efficiently,cheerfully and promptly remedied what would have otherwise been a very sad mistake on my part. This was not the first time that I had stayed at this facility. Yet, it continues to amaze me that the care and attention is spot on. I have stayed at numerous facilities, and just about all of the various hotel brands, and cannot honestly say that I have ever experience a more genuinely hospitable and welcoming property than the Best Western Genetti Hotel. From check-in to check-out the experience was superb. I love the rooms. They may be old but they are well cared for and are up to date with ammenities. I drink in the lounge, dine in the restaurant and each experience is incredibly awesome and top shelf. All aspects of the facility are high quality and are delivered with genuine care and low stress. I absolutely enjoy the restaurant and its broad selection of meal options all prepared by excellent chefs and served with a commitment to quality and individualism. The breakfast buffet is also served with that same commitment of quality foods and a wide selection of nutritional options. This hotel is well worth a trip to experience it. Like me, you will want to go out of your way to stay there regularly. It is a true gem in the rough and an incredible experience.

We stayed here on our way through PA on a trip to New York. The check in was great and very smooth. All the staff members were very attentive and friendly. The rooms are clean and well cared for. Everything seemed up to date and well maintained. The hotel was quiet. I couldn't hear any sound between rooms. The restaurant was great. I had wonderful lobster bisque. The owner was eating dinner near me, so I was able to talk with him and enjoyed that. Very good experience.

I have stayed here many times and the food just keeps on getting better.The breakfast buffet is included in your room charge and it has everything you could ever want and the service is fantastic.Ask for Rich ... He will take care of your every need...

The check-in was painless and the room was spacious and high end BW. The desk helped us with dinner plans and let us check-in early. The hotel has free parking and a garage. Only negative was tissues were cheap and rough. Breakfast was the best we've had for a hotel breakfast.

My family had a very good visit at the Genetti in Wilkes-Barre, PA. We picked this hotel because of their location to the CYC. Everything was great and the full breakfast buffet in the morning served by the cooks Kevin & Rich was magnificent. I would definitely take my family again to this hotel.

Spent an overnight here with myself, my wife, and two kids for a nearby event. The room was clean and the staff was very nice. We requested a late checkout of 1pm and it was granted which was really nice. The breakfast was also really good. Eggs, pancakes, waffles, fresh fruit bar. Excellent. Would stay again.

I was totally surprised at how great this hotel was. The room was clean, with an amazing double shower head. The staff was very pleasant. Breakfast was terrific. Very nice selection. And it was very convenient to the Kirby Center. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Shae at the front desk was delightfully helpful and my room exceeded my expectations. The price was right. I couldn't have been more pleased. I liked that the TV worked and the number of channels was surprising. I liked the attached restaurant.
