Resumen de la reserva
Our room was larger than most hotel rooms and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also good sized. Within walking distance was a grocery and a farm store. Downtown was an easy drive. Our room was quiet.
I had the room booked with a third party site and it was 121 total with taxes. When I got there I was offered the hotel room for ten dollars cheaper if I booked through the hotel and canceled the third party. I did that and then when I was charged I was charged ten dollars more actually eleven dollars and change. My bill after taxes and fees was 132 dollars for one night. Other than that the hotel, staff, cleanliness, breakfast was excellent. I will stay again when I'm in town next.
Staff was amazing and greeted us as we came in very late for check in. Asked for ideas for restaurants and she gave us directions to one that was still open for as late as it was when we checked in. Room was very nice, breakfast in the morning was amazing and delicious. I will definitely be staying again soon.
Right along a busy street, no soundproofing, it was noisy! We could hear every footstep in the room above us. People in the hallway were talking, in normal voices, and we could hear every word they were saying.
There was a bad odor in the room - perhaps from the plumbing or the swimming pool in the building. Prices changed from reservation to check in and check out. Overall cost was more than expected and, with the sulfuric smell in the room, a disappointment for such a perfectly located and sized hotel.
The cozy Best Western in the sweet little town of Vermillion South Dakota has come to feel like my home away from home because I always stay here when visiting my child who attends USD. In addition to having friendly, welcoming staff, the property itself is consistently, spotless, well-run, and safe. I would never hesitate to stay here!
We visited our son at USD and stayed at the Best Western for the second time, We have been very happy both times with the hotel! The staff is very friendly and helpful and welcoming. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was excellent. Thank you and we will be back soon! We highly recommend it.
I have stayed in hotels all over the United States, primarily in Best Westerns or Holiday Inns. This Best Western in Vermillion South Dakota is at the top of the Best Western list for me. The hotel is very clean, and the hotel employees are very kind and professional. Because of the nature of my business, I had to extend my stay multiple times, and it was never an issue. Surprisingly, the owner even works the front desk and I can tell her employees are a reflection of her kindness and professionalism. I stayed here for 2 weeks, and have occupied a 1 bed room and a 2 bed room. Both were excellent as far as value, cleanliness and comfort. The bathrooms were modern and clean. Theyre also very spacious. The beds are comfortable, and the room even has a desk for any computer work that needed to be done. I noticed there was also a computer area upstairs close to the elevator for guests. Breakfast is good. It is usually scrambled eggs and sausage. There is also a waffle maker, cereal, bagels, and oatmeal. The apple juice is top notch and ice cold. Breakfast is what you would expect from a hotel. It is not a country style restaurant, but when you realize the cost is included in your room price, it tastes pretty darn good. While I stayed, several times I saw men working on the grounds of the hotel. They were cleaning, mowing and edging. The outward presentation of this hotel is very inviting. I was able to exchange my towels for fresh ones anytime I asked, and the pool was clean and the water was crisp. As for the spa, there is a sign on the door to the pool area stating the spa is under construction. Overall, this hotel receives 5 stars from me. It meets all the requirements of what a hotel should be and provide to its guests.
We chose this hotel for a 1 night stay in Vermillion, based on Tripadvisor‘s recommendation. Someone goofed here. A very dismal no bones hotel, 1 clerk ( never at the front desk) also doubled as a cook, to provide a very limited Microwave prepared breakfast. The room was clean , but not well adapted for phone or computer plug ins. Choose the Holiday Inn Express
Staff was very friendly, helpful, took time to answer any questions I had. I was greeted immediately upon my arrival and had a pleasant visit with staff upon my departure. They did not make me feel hurried but important.
We were here just one night, pulled in late and tired. The staff was quick and friendly, the room clean, the bed very comfy. We enjoyed breakfast in the morning but don't really remember it. Good coffee.
Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Convenient to a Hyvee and Starbucks. We were able to grab a quick meal we could prepare in our room, and replenish shampoos and beauty items. Rooms were clean and quiet. Breakfast in the morning was good. Coffee was good. Small hotel, everyone uses same elevator.
We stayed here for one night after driving the Lewis & Clark trail from Omaha. The staff was nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was basic but good. Not a very big hotel so all the parking was pretty close to the door. Close to everything in the little town.
We stayed here specifically for the exercise room, hot tub, and breakfast. The exercise room and hot tub were closed. Breakfast closed earlier than advertised and there were not many selections. Our room smelled very bad like a dog and would not air out even with window open. There was a huge pile of dog poop right outside the door to go outside. We were given a handicapped room for some reason and the sinks were very low. The price was comparable to other nicer hotels in the area. I would not stay here again.
Very clean and staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. My refrigerator wouldn't initiallly turn on and the employee offered to let me use the one that employees use. After 1 more try, the one in my room started. I was extremely impressed by the friendliness and the offer to help me out.
BW Vermillion was a perfectly fine option. Affordability wasn't really part of the equation because I was using a voucher. Hot tub and sauna made this a great, relaxing option. I wish the pool temp was higher and that the Fitness Room was open, but the idea to spend a day taking care of myself was achieved with very friendly staff a plus.
This is a nice hotel. Everything works. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast was nice. Everything was in stock and in good condition. Just a nice place to stay the night. Location was quiet. Overall condition of the motel was good.
The rooms overall are clean and serviceable. However, the way the desk was wired didn't allow any plugins for the electronics — the outlets were in a lamp which didn't work. I notified the front desk but nothing changed. To boot, the hotel doesn't clean the rooms for a multi-day visit. Ordinarily, I don't object to this policy, but the front desk didn't alert me when I checked in and there was no indication in the room that this was a hotel policy. The breakfast room offers decent fare if you can stand listening to Fox News blaring in the background. Perhaps the Golf Channel would be more palatable to a diverse clientele.
I was able to make a trip to South Dakota at the end of August this year, I stayed at BW Vermillion Inn for three nights. The rooms are very good and clean. i enjoyed the Swimming pool and the sauna. Beautiful breakfast every day too! It is so close to shops, so you don't have to spend much time for buying your things. The highlight of the trip is I would say, all vehicles drive slow but safe. There are several places nearby Vermillion you can explore.
Nice place. Would highly recommend staying here. This was my 2nd time staying here. I wish all hotels' ownership would operate this way. Saw owner even picking up trash outside hotel. Nice and quiet. Friendly.
Best Western is not usually my choice of hotels, but they must be making changes for the better. Clean rooms, friendly service, typical breakfast. We would definitely stay again. (In fact, I tried, but they were full.)
Outstanding people working desk!! Clean and Handy to town!! All electronics in room worked fine!! Everything was ready to go with my reservation!! Sam and Sammie were both very helpful!!!! Getting around Vermillion from the hotel is very convenient!!
Enjoyed our stay while on a road trip through the mid west. The staff were friendly and helpful even with a full hotel that night. The room was comfortable and this was a convenient location to continue our travels.
We stayed here for 3 nights while attending a workshop at USD. The rooms are very small, and so is the breakfast area (and offerings). However, things seemed fairly clean and it worked as a place to stay. The service was welcoming and attentive. It was a definite step up from staying at the Prairie Inn previously. You're right next to HyVee if you need to pick up anything, which is convenient.
given area choices, this is the best choice but with an asterik. Staff is exceptional, facility is CLEAN. Stairs are outside, key necessary for in and out, so if one prefers to use stairs or avoid the single elevator, stay on the first floor. Hot choice at breakfast, fructose style yogurt, can't recommend, went with the cereal. The manager walked us to our room and explained rooms are opened & cooled ( hot day) as booked or used, which may explain the air quality comment in another review. For the area, would stay again. Next door to a large grocery with a food take-away, driving distance to shopping areas, Walmart, etc.
The bathroom tiles were loose and dangerous. The room smelled terribly of too much perfume. Excellent staff!!!! Hard-boiled eggs were slimy and the scrambled eggs had ham preventing me from eating them.
I would HIGHLY recommend this Best Western for any trip. We were touring the University of South Dakota right in Vermillion. The hotel was very clean and the staff was super friendly and helpful. The pool, hot tub and sauna were wonderful and even nice patio couches in the pool area where we played cards. The breakfast was great and nice to have it included in the very reasonable rates and we will always stay here when we visit our incoming Coyote at the University! Thank you for the warm welcome to your state! I would recommend to everyone!
We stay at this hotel often and always have a good experience. Also love we can walk to hyvee to get snacks and not have to drive. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. We do wish the stairs were included and not out in the cold, but they do have an elevator one can take!
Our room (two queen beds) had a large amount of human hair in both beds and we found someone else's clothing (socks and a shirt) left in the room. When speaking with the staff I asked for new bedding sheets. I was not offered a change of room or cleaning service. I did ask for the room to be cleaned the next day. When returning the second night the room was still not cleaned and the excuse given was Covid related. Keep in mind, hot breakfast was offered and not a single employee was wearing a mask. So I don't understand how cleaning my room while I'm away is a risk for Covid. The next morning I spoke with a manager who was very rude, stating in an aggressive tone “well what do you want, how much money do you think you deserve off”. I did receive a discount, but I was not seeking a discount. I was looking for acknowledgment of a problem and an apology. Instead she said “there you go you got what you want, thanks for staying with us”. I was shocked at how rude the staff was. I am not one to complain, but when staying at a hotel you are literally paying for a clean room to sleep in, which I clearly did not receive. I have stayed here before without any complications, but with this current staffing situation, I will not be returning again.
Stayed at the Best Western Vermillion one night as I was attending an event in the area. I was pleased with the reception as we walked into the hotel and with the friendliness of the front desk gal. The ease of finding our room and the decor was also pleasing. Thanks for an enjoyable experience!
Good value...Good location...Clean & comfortable rooms. The staff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The location is convenient to whatever activities bring you to Vermillion. This hotel is my home away from home whenever I am visiting Southeastern South Dakota.
Everything was clean and comfortable. The employees were friendly and helpful when I was making reservations on the phone, and they were friendly and helpful when we reached the hotel. We enojoyed the pool and hot tub, and we appreciated the hot breakfast.
Friendly efficient check in. Clean fresh room. Furnishings newer and of modern design without being trendy. Comfy bed. Usual (as pre C19) breakfast. Scram eggs, sausages, donuts, rolls, toast, all usuals. Nobody infected with C19 mania, so that was pleasant. Free to travel at last! Down side; usual hotel TP scratchy and hard. Front door had a 'butt can' which only encourages smokers to stand/sit there, so potential smoke stench hazardTaxes make room rate a bit high at $165
Do I know how to book a room or what? This room is soooooo nice. Long desk with nothing on it, which is really appreciated so I don't have to battle the coffee maker for space. A/C in my room was on when I arrived so the temperature was perfect. Leather chair so I can relax.
This hotel is in need for a remodel! There has been "spot" updates, but those are easily overlooked when the hotel is still stuck in the early 2000's. The lobby seats are old and extremely uncomfortable!
Overall very pleasant stay. Hotel is older, but has updated locks, smooth remotes and numerous outlets in the room. The Decor is dated, but the service is awesome. Best value in Vermilion, SD. Highly recommend this location.
Traveled a long distance. Came to be with family for Christmas. We were greeted very warmly. Checking in was smooth and easy. They talked with us like they had known us forever. Very accommodating with all the changes due to the Covid. Room was very clean and already set at a warm temperature. We will definitely stay again.
Very friendly staff for check in, provided a blanket for my dog to sleep on my bed. Spacious rooms, small hotel, not far from beautiful University of South Dakota. Got Starbucks at grocery store next door. Parking very convenient. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. Would stay again- Vermillion is a very historic small town.
We stayed here just one night but the room was clean and the service was great. We had breakfast and the hotel in the morning (eggs, sausage and other things). It was a exactly what I was looking for.
There never seemed to be anyone at the front desk. There is a bell but you get tired of ringing it. We were unaware that there was a university function going on so we didn't get an upgrade for being diamond select. The breakfast room was very small and crowded. The food was not special. For a one night stay, it was ok but any longer than that would have been a problem.
Great hotel for either business or pleasure. Near grocery and Walmart. Free good quality internet. Not too far from highway but not close enough to hear the traffic. Breakfast has a good selection of hot and cold foods.
We arrived at 5am. They gave 25 dollar discount. After learning we would be going straight to bed and not eating breakfast; knocked off another 15 dollars. Ended up only paying 30 dollars for first night/morning. Front desk staff had genuine smiles and seemed to actually care. That night we got back late but our daughter wanted to swim. We got there at 10:30 pool closes at 11. They allowed us to swim past 11 as long as we were quiet. EXCELLENT service. I am a germaphobe and the room met my expectations. Will be staying again.
We made a trip back to where I grew up, to deal with my family farm. BE made me feel like I was home. Friendly check in a great breakfast. Awesome pillows, comfortable beds. A very welcoming entry with water to welcome you to the BW. Every time we passed the desk we were created. You just got the feeling they cared.
Our loud and rowdy LARP group basically took over the whole place. Staff were accommodating, efficient, attentive and kind, even when we were too loud. Breakfast was hot and coffee was plentiful. I have stayed in far less nice rooms for far more money. 10/10 would stay again.
When I made the initial reservation I was not clear that I needed 2 queen beds in each room. They managed to work hard to go through each reservation to find if there was occupants that initially wanted a single bed room and have the 2 queen beds. They were able to find 2 occupants in which we could switch with to make all of us happy. I must add that this was one of the busiest weekends of the year, D-days!
My daughter and I stayed 2 nights. At other hotels, housekeeping will come in & clean our room during our stay after the first night (even waking us up at 8am to clean the room!), I am always uncomfortable with this because they could be looking through our stuff. It's also a waste since we will be there another night. However, at our Best Western stay, they knocked on the door the first morning around 10am. We were happy it was a little later & expected housekeeping with their cleaning cart. I answered the door and was very pleasantly surprised that it was a member of the front desk team, just asking if we slept well & if we needed anything. I didn't feel rushed to leave the room so that housekeeping could clean. The room was very clean & the staff was wonderful. Couldn't ask for more.
Nothing irritates me more than staying in a room in need of attention to detail (unsightly areas, under the sink, filthy blinds and windows, etc. The Vermillion Best Western is a 100 on a scale of 1 to 10. No complaints at all!
We stayed at the Best Western Vermillion Inn recently. We had traveled a long way & were really tired. We were so thankful to find the room was spacious & clean. The breakfast was okay - selection wasn't the greatest but we ate cereal & fruit & enjoyed that. The only real negative about our stay was the bed was very uncomfortable - like hard as a rock!
I stayed here with my family a couple of years ago and we really loved our stay. My daughter had a sports tournament in town and instead of driving home every night on the weekend (I live only 50 minutes away), we decided to stay here again and make a vacation out of it. Our second stay was just as good as the first. I can't recommend this property enough. The rooms were very clean. I can't stress how important this is enough. I've stayed in some rough rooms before and walking into a nice, clean, well-presented room is the first step in feeling at home in a different location. My daughter loves to swim. More great news. The pool here is really nice. Nice small gym and a great breakfast buffet. If you end up missing breakfast a Hy-vee is very close by, along with other fine eating establishments. Last, the staff was very gracious about us staying there and helped us out with every request or question we had. If you're passing through the area and need a night's rest or have any sort of business goings-on in Vermillion, I personally think this is the place to stay. I've been here twice in as many years and I've had the same top quality stay both times.
Big room, large bathroom! Room was clean. Bathroom clean as well. Heater/ac unit very loud and obnoxious! Beds were comfortable. Staff very pleasant! Breakfast was nothing special! Pretty pricey for location.
We stayed here 3 nights over Thanksgiving while visiting family in Vermillion. The room was clean and comfortable. We couldn't get an upper floor room, which I prefer to avoid any noise from rooms above, but it was pretty quiet. The staff were friendly. I used the fitness center a couple days, which was nice to have, but pretty basic; some of the cardio equipment looked like it was 20 years old, but the elliptical worked fine and was nice to have a weight machine and some free weights. We did not use the pool or hot tub. The breakfast was your standard free hotel breakfast for these types of chains; fairly decent selection - yogurt, cereal, waffle, scrambled eggs, sausage and pastries. I would definitely stay here again and liked it better than the Holiday Inn in town.
It takes a dedicated team to offer the excellence my spouse & I experienced at the Best Western Vermillion Inn. The room was spotless & comfortable. The customer service was friendly & efficient. The breakfast was very satisfying.
The inside and outside of this hotel is very clean and well cared for. Everything works.... they give you enough towels, the heater is quiet and efficient, there is plenty of hot water for your shower. The entire staff is friendly and they know what they're doing. The breakfast (including the coffee) is very good.
I was traveling solo with my dog and the staff could not have been nicer. She is a rescue dog and has a hard time with new things but she loved this place. The room was perfect and cute and very clean. Would totally stay here again!!
It was a great day very comfortable very cheap I would recommend this to anybody traveling through Vermilion South DakotaIt has a very good swimming pool hot tub great breakfast is very friendly staff
This hotel is a gem. It was very clean and comfortable with a nice breakfast. The check in staff was quick, friendly and efficient. We loved the indoor pool, hot tub and sauna. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit.
I scored a room for $79 on Priceline and it was an excellent deal. It's definitely worth $20-$40 more in today's market. Because there were so many positives, I'll start with the only negative I could identify. It was the the sink in the bathroom. It's a freestanding pedestal sink, and while I was traveling solo and found it just fine, travelers who are used to spreading their stuff across a countertop might have a tougher time getting ready in the morning. Other than that, it was an excellent property top to bottom. The front desk manager was just the right mix of friendly. The room was spotless. Bed was comfortable, fridge worked well, TV was good, chairs were nice, and AC was quiet. And that's the stuff that really matters. I used the exercise room and pool area briefly and they were really nice for this price point. Very clean. The breakfast was good. Not excellent, but good. Besides the usual fare of cereal, bagels, and instant oatmeal, they had some two-egg omelets with cheese that were pretty darn tasty, and also some sausages. A waffle-maker too, though I've had one too many hotel/motel waffles so I took a pass. Kids will love it though. A great, underrated thing about the property is that it is adjacent to a Hy-Vee grocery store that has a nice deli, complete liquor store, and very large Starbucks. It is a 60-second walk from the motel's front entrance, seriously. A lot of urban properties charging $300 a night can't say that. My in-the-room dinner consisted of a nice chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and baked beans, side caesar salad, and small box of pinot noir for $17. In conclusion, I would stay here again in a minute, even if I didn't have a Priceline deal. Well-done, Best Western Vermillion Inn!
Have stayed here several times and each time it has been a pleasant stay. The breakfast is good and parking is usually close. The staff is always been friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Hotel is always clean, staff always friendly. It's our go to place when we are in the area. The pool area is good. Rooms are clean. The location is good, right off the main street and close to the highway.
great stay, clean room, excellent staff, breakfast and coffee available, internet included. Fitness room and anything you needed was provided. The only thing missing was some hot chocolate on my return from a cold night out and about
A pleasant place to stay, it was close to our destination. Breakfast was better than some hotels - tasty with fresh berries available. The bed was okay - the heat worked well, but was quite noisy when it came on and we turned it completely off, as the room was plenty warm without it on.
This hotel is updated, cleaned and has a very helpful staff. I've stayed here at least ten times and every visit has been absolutely consistent. They offer every amenity a hotel should provide including a nice indoor pool. I'll stay here everytime I need a place in Vermillion, SD.
This is our second time here and everyone and everything is flawless. The staff is so helpful and gracious you are staying with them, the beds are comfy and it's very clean. Breakfast is okay-no B&G:(
We drove down from Mpls, MN on a Saturday late afternoon and didn't arrive until 2am dog-tired and the clerk was so friendly and check in was quick and easy. My son and Inlove the pool. As always the breakfast was awesome. We love Best Western and Best Western Plus hotels.
This is a lovely motel. The rooms are clean and spacious. However the second floor rooms echo from the lobby noise. We would stay here again, but request a ground floor room far away from the lobby. The morning desk clerk is very friendly.
The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly. The breakfast was good, however we stayed 2 nights and it was the same options both days. A little variety would be nice. My only complaint was the poor wifi quality. It was spotty at best. In the 2 days I was there, I was able to access the wifi for about an hour.
You won't find any motels out on the interstate, you have to go into town. So since you have to do this why not go all the way thru and stay here. Friendly staff, clean room and comfortable bed. Had all the amenities that you could want in your room. Safe area and well lit parking lot. Quiet area, got a great nights sleep. Had to leave before breakfast so I can't comment on that. Will stay again.
Clean comfortable room. Clean nice pool area. Breakfast was good-nice variety. Front desk staff exceptional, helpful, professional. Greatly appreciated being able to have our dog in room. For a hotel that accepts dogs, you really wouldn't know it. Very clean.
They offer 15% discount for parents of students at the University of South Dakota. The room is pretty average. However, in my one-queen-bed room, the fridge, air-conditioning and shower fan, were all very noisy. There is a variety of tasty choices for breakfast. All the staff are very friendly. Overall, it is the best of the three hotels in this small town.
Clean, odorless, great & friendly staff & delicious, quality hot food. Lots of amenities, close to parks, stores & college. Handicapped people friendly. I will definitely return when a motel room is needed and recommend it to other visiting family members.
If you want to enjoy a friendly, professional staff, clean and comfortable rooms, excellent quiet area. This is the hotel for you. I checked in at 4 am due to the type of work I do, the staff worked with me on the rate and extended hours so that I could get enough rest, great. Love the fitness center
This is a great place to stay one or two nights. The rooms are descent in size and seem to be well maintained. Our bathroom was clean and had plenty of towels. The lady at the front desk was great and they have a breakfast that should hold you over until lunchtime.
I want to commend the desk staff for making me feel welcome and at-home. Everything ran smoothly, and I loved the pool area -- spacious, functioning and clean. The room was comfortable. I forgot to change the time on my clock (time zone) and raced down to breakfast in the remaining 5 minutes. Staff accommodated me, and I found the offerings to be excellent. My only complaint is that it smelled of chlorine (from the pool) when I walked into the lobby. Find a way to separate the pool smell from the public areas? I could access everything in town very easily from this location.
Was lucky enough to stay in this hotel the other weekend for a couple of nights. We had an excellent stay. The staff were very warm and welcoming and helped us with all of our questions and needs. The rooms were spotless when we walked in and am really not going to complain about them being overly scented because how many hotel rooms do you stay in that actually smell good? Usually around zero. The breakfast was good and filling. I haven't been to Vermillion a lot so choosing a place to eat at could've been a chore, but the staff were more than helpful in finding us a local establishment to dine at. The next time I'm in Vermillion, this is the first place I'm definitely looking at.
My husband and I were visiting my son who goes to school at USD. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. A little too much air freshener walking in. But overall a good place to stay for a short trip. I would stay here again.
We were very surprised by hotel & Vermillion. First time here, Joe at front desk recommended a great restaurant (Café Brulee). Room & bathroom were clean & updated. Bed was comfortable. My husband needed a room close to lobby or elevator since he is on oxygen --- hotel was quick to make sure we had the right room
Stopped overnight and property was in quiet, safe location. Unfortunately they over scent the rooms which triggered a severe allergy attack. Tried two rooms but scent throughout. Reported to management. Would recommend you steer clear of hotel if you have allergies, etc.
Hotel was newly remodeled so everything is very nice and new. The staff was warm and friendly throughout our stay. The amenities were nice and we were happy we chose to stay at this hotel. The location in the City was also very handy both to the campus and the other things the city has to offer.
I found this hotel to be well placed, clean, easy access to the Music Museum and the University of South Dakota. The young man at the desk when we checked in was helpful, knowledgeable about the area and eager to answer any questions about Vermillion. He informed us of the complimentary breakfast, my rewards points and thanked me for being a platinum member and staying at the Best Western.
I was in Vermillion to visit the National Music Museum and looked for a place close by. This small, family run hotel has comfortable rooms with nice bed linen and towels. Beautiful pool. It was a little strange that no one was ever at the desk, but they soon appeared after ringing a bell. However, when I needed plunger someone was at my room in 5 minutes. Definitely cannot check in before 3 - rooms are not ready before. Ample parking. Walls are a little thin - I actually heard someone snoring in the next room! But if you are in the area a good value choice.
The hotel could not have been more accommodating, pleasant, clean or guest oriented. The staff is geared to making your stay a pleasant one and offer excellent local dining recommendations. Truly, the place to stay in Vermillion.
We stayed at the hotel and had a few things that didn't go so well but the manager quickly contacted us and did everything he could to make up for inconveniences. Their sincerity in trying to make things right is a terrific quality in a hotel.
Wasn't impressed. Not a horrible experience, just little things. I felt like i paid too much for what it was. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Wifi was kinda slow. Water pressure in the shower was good! Pool was over chlorinated. The smoke detector's battery was sitting on top of it. I paid less for an amazing hotel in Sioux City a few weeks ago. My room was non smoking, but smelled like smoke. Just little things, here and there.
Can definitely state that it's the best place in Vermillion. I've stayed in others that were frightening. Rooms are clean and secure. Compared to what else is available this is a keeper. Try the sandwich shop in the Ace hardware store. Its a home run!
I highly recommend this hotel. It is well run and a great place to stay when in Vermillion, South Dakota. You won't go wrong with this choice! Vermillion is a small town (home of the University of South Dakota) and this hotel is located near campus, grocery store, bank, and other local businesses. It is quiet, easy parking, and very well run. Go for it!
We detoured off I29 to stay at this hotel as a storm gathered above. Found that this college town to be a quiet stop in the summer and the rooms very clean and pool a great relaxing area. The HyVee store next door serves great Chinese food.
We were visiting family in Yankton but every hotel in Yankton was booked..so we ended up here. Check in was very easy...we booked an oversized king suite but the smoke smell slapped us in the face the minute we opened the door. The friendly gal at check in was very apologetic and immediately offered us the only room they had left....it was smaller but comfy enough for our 2 night stay. Breakfast was a nice treat....scrambled eggs with bacon, yogurt, cereal, make your own waffles, coffee, milk, juice, etc. The hotel does have an indoor pool and spa but the chlorine smell was SO strong and terrible, we didn't last 2 minutes! There is a Walmart right down the street which came in very handy! Overall, customer service from the front desk and housekeeping was fantastic!
My daughter will be attending college here so we stayed over a night for early morning registration. We came in later and it took just a few minutes to get the key to our room. The beds/pillows were all very comfortable. Plenty of hot water for a shower in the morning. Breakfast was good! The eggs were delicious. Good sausage and oj too! Definitely will return. The lady who booked the room for us over the phone was EXTRA NICE. Great job!
The staff were very pleasant but I feel weren't given the tools to provide great customer service. Checked in our room - had men's underwear handing on door and toilet paper with urine soaked in toilet. The Front Desk Clerk sweetly changes our room but it had beds stripped, towels every where, garbage, etc. she apologized and changes us again. This time the room was ready. In the morning, all the hot breakfast items were gone (45 minutes before it should close) and was told there wouldn't be anymore until the morning. Then at 10:15 we had knock on our door to clean room. We were staying a second night so just asked for towels, since only one towel was provided upon check-in. Five minutes later another knock. The lady looked confused and said she'd come back. I told her we were here until Monday, she said she has us for one night. There is seriously some unorganization in this hotel. The staff were very nice though.
Enjoyed the welcome of Alyssa at Best Western after a three hour drive. Helpful and knowledgeable. Grocery store located right next to Best Western which is a plus when you forget items. Enjoyed a peaceful night sleep with no traffic noise.
Great place to stay! Would stay here again in the future. Breakfast was good, staff was helpful, and very easy to get to. Look forward to coming and staying this year and in the future. Glad we stayed at this location
Stayed here 3 weeks visiting family. My husband has serious health issues and the staff was amazingly caring and helpful. Friendly and compassionate. We loved the pool, sauna, and fitness areas. Great breakfast too.
We are never sorry after staying at this Best Western. Folks there try their best to make the stay a good one. We have a dog, and a blanket and treat are automatically provided for her. Not too many travelers stop in Vermillion, but if you do, stop here.
Staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. Bed was comfortable, room was clean Hotel was quiet and I felt extremely safe. Breakfast was delicious. There was many different items to choose from and everything looked fresh
Best part was to not have surprises at all. Nice and quiet location, clean rooms and corteous service and average breakfast. Parking is very easy (no charge). Wifi was good and felt no interruptions. City is small so you´re close to everything, if into a walk one can easily get to restaurants downtown.
Very well maintained motel. There is just one elevator and I never did find the stairs, which I was told were on the far end of the motel, outside. The breakfast was good, and the grocery store is right next door if you forget anything. A good motel. This is pretty spendy for a South Dakota hotel.
This property is 8 miles off I-29,on business #50, in the city,Vermillion, that has the University of SD.This property is the epitome of how to own and operate the right way.Clean, everything in the room comfortable, a microwave,a good breakfast, great coffee, twice as many towels as St Charles BW,and most of all, the staff was well trained, very friendly, professional, and knew how to use a BW gift card, and .Its worth getting off I-29.Add this one for a night, when heading to the Badlands and Black Hills, as it's a good decision.
This is a nice down home hotel, it has a nice pool area and a good breakfast selection, staff was helpful when one of my travelling party arrived before I could. It is easy to park close to the main doors and the elevator is right off the lobby if you need it, instead of way down the hall.
When I closed the bathroom door, there was a dirty towel from the last person that stayed there hung on the back. There was also no hand soap or shampoo in the room. Not a good experience, but it is Vermillion.
Great Location, Great Staff - Encounter no problems. Would like to stay more times but the hotel is BOOKED!!! Hopefully the hotel would consider enlarging their facility, they would fill up the hotel.
The Best Western is on the western edge of town, next door to 24 hour grocery store. Clean rooms, nice pool area, and an overall excellent value. Reception clerk very friendly, helpful with directions, and made you feel welcome.
I stayed here due to a quick trip to Vermilion. Very close to everything and there was a grocery store right next door. The room was clean as were the grounds. The only thing I was a bit annoyed by was when I checked in, the front desk did not inform me the water was off for a few hours due to a water line break. I wish I would have known that beforehand. But other than that, the stay was fine.
We stayed in a king suite with Jacuzzi tub, on the second floor. The room was very clean and spacious. The staff were all outstanding and seemed to truly care about guests, especially the front desk who checked us in at midnight; we had been on the road all day. The only miss was just two bath towels. Breakfast had good basic items, hot & cold. Well done by same person working the front desk, which was awkward at times, but he did a superb job. We will return on our next visit to Vermillion in a few weeks.
There aren't many places to choose from in this part of SD, but I stayed here 2 years ago, so tried it again. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, and it was a fairly quiet stay. The room A/C seemed to only have one working fan speed-- so it was noisier than I would have preferred. Breakfast selections included both hot and cold foods. It's pet friendly, but the $20 charge for one pet seems high. However, they did provide me with a 'pet blanket' to cover the bedding so that I didn't have to worry about my cat getting on the bed. (The pet rules say no animals are allowed on the furniture.) It's a 7-mile drive from the interstate, but there's minimal traffic. Would stay here again.
This is an older Best Western In (hotel) that is off the highway, but worth the short drive. Short drive slows your day down, great break from the rush. Room was well kept, comfortable, clean and welcoming. We wouldreturn again!
A trip to Mt. Rushmore took us through South Dakota on I90. Not knowing where you are going to end up at bed time is always a challenge. We checked with the BW in Vermillion and found a great room at an equally great price. Quiet and in wonderful repair! Better than the property, however, were the people working at the location. Every employee we met were friendly, courteous, and very helpful to us since we had never ventured to that area of the country. All the features of the room and amenities were well maintained, clean and welcoming. We highly recommend this BW property (especially if you are visiting a student at the local university).
Our visit to the Best Western was not a great experience. This hotel is located on a main thoroughfare and appeared busy into the night. They appear to be understaffed as I saw no more than 1 person at any given time at the front desk and she was always very busy. In the morning, the front desk attendant was also the one watching over breakfast. We were given a king room on the second floor. It was fine except for the strong smoke odor upon entering. I asked about it and was told the room had not been a smoking room for 3 years. It smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and air freshener. She offered me air freshener to cover the odor. The bed was comfortable, bathroom was fine, and there was a fridge! The Wifi and cable worked fine. The breakfast room is tiny but the breakfast offering was fine. Everyone was milling around the small room, making it difficult to get settled. I don't know where the friendly, amazing staff were when I visited, but I did not encounter them. I was not impressed with this hotel and will not stay again.
It was nice, and the staff was friendly. It was several miles off the highway tho, but not too far. Beutiful small town. We just stayed overnight. Breakfast was ok.. Good Mexican resturant just down the street!!
Very clean, well maintained rooms. Exceptionally friendly helpful staff. Very enjoyable stay for our family. Breakfast items were fresh and nice presentation. Eating area small but all rooms have table and chairs.
Amazing staff, Tamee was a great person to deal with, clean cool room, big breakfast, free wifi, she gave us several places to get delivery when your tired and have kids, to tired to try pool but it looked nice
Everything was fantastic! All of the staff were great! Thank you! I really enjoyed all the aspects of the hotel. It really served all of our needs completely. It was a pleasure to stay at such a wonderful hotel.
We stopped here on vacation, and found the hotel clean, comfy, and with friendly staff. Lori at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Room was clean, beds were nice. Great location, peaceful. Had a great nights rest.
We enjoyed our stay. Good place for our dog. Breakfast was good. We should have asked for another blanket. Also, the coffee pot in the room would not keep the coffee warm...we should have told the desk, but did not have time the next morning. These were issues that would have been taken care of, I am sure.
I stayed one night at this hotel while in town for business. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The interior of the building and the room I stayed in was clean, updated and modern. The Breakfast room was small, but had all of the basic food items offered at most motels. I did not use the pool or fitness room, but they did look nice.
This hotel was very nice, however the location or town did not justify the cost. The cost would seem better, if this hotel would have been in a major city. A cost of $40.00-$65.00,would be more reasonable for a town of this size.
Need to update your HVAC and beds. Couldn't get the room a consistent temp - it tended to be too warm, even though we had it set clear down to 64. The bed was hard as a rock - felt like sleeping on cinder blocks. Over priced - $169/night for a BW in Vermillion SD is crazy.
Do not consider the Vermillion Best Western before every other alternative is exhausted. Definitely do not come from I-29 for this hotel The staff is not concerned with return business and is willing to share that opinion with the customer, "like it or leave it." The Vermillion Best Western's business model is people with business in Vermillion, such as the college. It is not intended to support travelers coming from the highway, it is nearly 10 miles from the freeway and simply not remarkable. The breakfast area is small and quickly crowded and so to replenish. The lobby noise is easily heard in the front rooms of the second floor The desk clerk must be summoned to the counter. There are no stairs to the second floor and only a small elevator. During our visit, twice practical jokers held the elevator at the 1st floor, right in front of the empty front desk I stayed at this location because the Best Western website assistance assured me Vermillion is Pet Friendly, they're not, they're pet tolerant, and once you realize your pet is an inconvenience to Vermillion the better. I was handed a blanket and informed my pets are not allowed on the furniture, only the blanket. I was not made aware of the $20 per pet fee until I checked out and read the bill. The bill was nearly $60 above what I signed for a check-in. The poor clerk at check out at first said it was a buffer for unplanned amenities, until we both read it again. I assume he was surprised and p10rovided no apology or explanation, I guess he was as ignorant as I was of the additional charges Additionally, the local taxes are extraordinary, simply put the room is not worth the cost unless you absolutely have to be in Vermillion
Great hotel. It is a good value for the price. The staff is very nice and helpful. The rooms are very clean and very up to date. Breakfast is great. I stay here all the time when I go out to see my son at college.
One of the cheaper hotels in the area with modern, average rooms. Hot tub was broken during our stay, but the pool was a nice size! The staff is wonderful and extremely helpful if you're not from this area. They have many suggestions for restaurants and activities. Overall nice stay for the price you pay.
Cheapest hotel in the area for just a one night stay. So I decided to go with the Best Western. While the room was fine, the pool and sauna were good amenities. I didn't really find my stay to be entirely comfortable. Unfortunately the fan/ac heating unit in our room was to me, rather loud. While having that blast every 10 minutes to keep our room cool, along with noise from the pipes and other equipment in the ceiling and walls, and combined with the noise of several running individuals in the hallways, made the stay less than enjoyable. Good for the money, i'm sure the noise is just my own taste and experience but just tossing in for context. The staff was awesome! But the room itself, it's a hotel, not sure I had very high expectations to begin with.
The front desk was always helpful and polite. The room was clean and well decorated and contained both a refrigerator and microwave. The room provided an excellent night's sleep even though I knew people were next door to me.
You're not going to get any rest in the afternoon/evening cause this particular Hotel allows non-guests to pay for all day pool time. (All day!) All the screaming from the pool was not what I needed after a long day. When I asked at the front desk if there was a better time to come back. She acted like she was offended if would even ask. Seems pool paying guests take priority over room paying guests.
The Best Western Vermillion is a decent BW property. It's easy to find right not he main highway through town. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. The breakfast area offers warm, pre-made sausage, egg and cheese biscuits that were pretty good. The night staff person was very new, and seemed unsure of here self, but the day person who helped us check out was competent and efficient. The pool area is large and inviting with a good sized hot-tub and sauna. The jets in the hot tub were very weak. Wi-Fi Internet was quite slow. The bathroom in the room was so small, you had to move out of the way to open the door. For a BW it was quite expensive -- more than $100 for one night in a room with 1 Queen bed.
We stayed one night. Room was a little smaller than we expected. But comfy. Breakfast was good. They had the standard variety of waffles, eggs, cereals, etc. The shower was clean but the massage shower head was hard to adjust.
The hotel was very nice, and the staff were wonderful. The breakfast was the usual fare, but the breakfast room was quite small. The rooms were nicely sound-proofed and the beds quite comfortable. I didn't use the pool, but friends with us liked it.
We were in Vermillion for my grandmothers funeral and found this hotel based on the other reviews. The reviews were very accurate for cleanliness and location. Since we didn't have a lot of time in the morning the breakfast onsite was very good and the location next to the HyVee was perfect.
I came to see my son in college and was very pleased with my stay. The room was clean and quiet. The microwave and fridge were an appreciated bonus. There were not enough breakfast options. The location was good and right next to a grocery store.
The desk clerk at check in was extremely nice and courteous. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was nice, but would like to see more whole wheat options in the bread area. We enjoyed our stay, and will return.
Looking at the other options in town, I am VERY glad I chose to go with the Best Western. Very clean rooms, bed was comfortable, rooms were quiet. Will definitely stay here again if I am in town. My coworker has been coming to the area every year for about five years and this is the first time he stayed at the Best Western...he said it's the best hotel there he has stayed everywhere else.
While this may seem like a pretty ordinary property at first glance, the staff during our 5-day stay was so exceptional and helpful, this motel will stand out in my mind for a long time. The room was spacious and well-appointed (a good refrigerator and microwave for once!). And the pool and hot tub were excellent and available during reasonable hours (6 am to 11 pm). It can be so frustrating to be somewhere on business and encounter a pool that is only open the hours you are committed to working! Not so here. If I am ever in Vermillion again, I will definitely choose the Best Western. It was also less expensive than the other national chain motel.
My husband and I found ourselves stranded in rural South Dakota when a deer decided to take on our truck. The nearest town was Vermillion and Best Western had a hotel there. Thankfully, they had room availability and a wonderful staff that helped us secure a room booking late at night. Once in the room, we were completely blown away. The room was incredibly spacious and had modern furnishings including a comfy chair and ottoman, a nice sized table with two chairs, a large flat screen TV, and a high-end pillow top bed with luxurious bedding. The bathroom was spacious as well and boasted a large deep jacuzzi tub. The hotel provides a hot breakfast with waffles and breakfast sandwiches in addition to an assortment of cereals. During our stay the staff was super helpful and accommodating given our circumstances. Overall, the Best Western in Vermillion, SD provided excellent service and wonderful accommodations! I would highly recommend this hotel when in the area.
We were traveling with our dog and needed a room for one night that allowed pets. The room was clean, although the bed was a little hard. We just prefer a softer mattress. They have breakfast available, but it was mostly things we don't eat (gluten and grain free.) They referred us to a local restaurant, Cafe Brule, which was very good.
Price was $20 more than highest price listed in 2015 AAA book - we paid $159; similar rooms in area were $70-90. Refused to accept either AAA or AARP card (both current). Room was dirty - accumulated dust on lamps and table, locker-type odor (sheets? pillows?). No shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap or towels. All but the conditioner were available.
Clean and quiet facility. Close to the University and the activities there. Convenient for a gathering of friends or a solo business trip. I had stayed there before it became a Best Western. Significant improvement with Best Western.
I needed a room for one night while visiting my child at USD. The hotel is clean, updated, and comfortable. The room had a microwave, mini refrigerator, and coffee maker. Breakfast was offered but I did not take advantage.
By far the nicest place to stay and a fair value. This is our 5th year attending the Margarita Ride on the 2nd Saturday in September, sorry it took us that long to try the Best Western Vermillion Inn. The water pipes were a little loud, but other than that our room was nice and quiet.
The sauna & hot tub did not work. The shower was not the worst I have ever used, but.... The coke machine ate my $2. The room was spacious and clean. The folks at the front desk were very friendly and the lady I checked out with remembered me from last year. The breakfast was hot and fresh. However, for the money I paid I expected more.
