Resumen de la reserva
Nicest, cleanest rooms ever. The breakfast included an omelet station!! Amazing value. Clean comfortable rooms and easy check in. Nice location and brightly lit parking area which felt very secure. Love this place and will book again....
Standard BW, room decent, all nice and clean. We used the pool which is rather odd and could do with an update in terms of surroundings but was nice and warm/clean and we had it to ourselves! The attached restaurant - which is not BW - not a good option for dinner although breakfast was fine. A helpful waitress steered us toward the better choices on the menu which was very kind but would not recommend eating there.
In 25 years of business travel, not sure I can recall a worse stay. TV system cannot be accessed without 30 minutes of trial and error. The seafood chowder gave me food poisoning. If the compensated me with a future free roomn, I would give to the homeless.
Great experience friendly staff exspecially Ram very nice dude hard worker and helps with anything needed ! Great time in the pool and hot tub very clean and comforting would highly recommend this place. Breakfast is a little poor but amazing spot !
The hotel is very nice, clean, refreshed hallways, nice room, with windows that open. Very professional front desk staff. The included breakfast had a wide selection and an excellent omelet station. While so many hotels seem to be using disposable dishes, cutlery, this Best Western used proper dishes etc. A welcome surprise.
Stayed here for 1 night, while passing on the way to Cape Breton. Staff were very friendly - from reception to the chefs in the kitchen. The reception area is newly renovated, and sadly the rooms look nothing like it. The rooms have seen better days. There was mold in the shower as well as on the shower curtain. There seems to be lacking of attention to detail - the coffee confectionery in the room was opened and used from previous guests. Rooms were comfortable and quiet. Plenty of parking. The shower head was very powerful which made for a nice experience. Breakfast was plentiful. We made it our business to be the first ones there, as I am celiac and needed to make sure anything gluten free I was able to grab before any cross contamination occured. The chef was able to confirm few items for me were gluten free which was nice BUT then he said i should have eggs because they have milk, and I wasn't 100% sure then if he knew what gluten was. None the less, i didn't end up being sick, so that was fine.
sleep was great and beds so nice and whole place was great tks all. food so good and fron t staff so friendly and helpful. keep up great work front front desk to cleaning staff to food prep was super. was a great meal for the in duction of the nscmhf for sure.
we stayed at this hotel unexpectantly when our car broke down on our way home and parts were being ordered. front desk was very helpful and considerate of our stressful situation. we were able to get an early check in (instead of sitting in the lobby) which we appreciated. room was very nice, good decor, super comfy bed and excellent linens/towels. we could walk to a few different restaurants. the breakfast offered was one of the best we've ever had while staying at a hotel chain while traveling. lovely dining room, nice music very good food offerings. even someone making eggs/omelets to order! good coffee. we ended up having a lovely 30 hr stay even if it was unexpected.
Our check in host was great. Jay made sure we had a quiet room as there were 3 events going on. Our check in was quick and professional. The location was great for what we had planned. Food was great. We went to the magnetic Hill and park. Breakfast included is always a plus when staying at hotels.Great variety of choices.
Crisp linen, fluffy pillows, great mattress, well stocked, incredible staff, good breakfast, clean environment all the way around. East Link TV didn't work, but we hooked up our computer and watched Prime programs. If this is the sleep experience we can expect at all Best Western hotels, we're sold.
Very comfortable bed. Hotel and rooms are kept very clean. Nice pool. Buffet breakfast is one of the best I have seen offered in any hotel. Hotel is very quiet. Nice dining room also. We usually stay at this hotel every time we visit Truro, Nova Scotia
This is an older hotel/motel that has been updated recently. I was put in a room in the detached motel style building where families and people with pets seem to be placed together, which was baffling as I had neither with me and the hotel didn't look full. However the room was clean and had a nice bathroom and small kitchenette. The pool is nice, but the hot tub was not hot, which was disappointing after a long drive. The server in the lounge was very accommodating and comp'd my beverage for a long delay with my order. It wasn't busy, so the long wait was hard to understand. Overall good value for the money.
We had a wonderful stay at the Best Western in Truro, Glengarry. After leaving a hotel that was not good, the Best Western staff were very accommodating allowing us to check in early. The hotel was very clean, quiet & well maintained. The breakfasts were excellent. Would highly recommend this hotel.
The place is really nice we had the outside motel type rooms that were with working kitchens very nice and clean but the beds are hard but we were good . The staff very nice and very friendly . The breakfast is included and was always a good chioce in the morning . The pool and hottub were a nice setting also
The room was meticulously cleaned thanks to Kristen the house keeper. Check-in was a breeze, timely and professional thanks to Jay at the front desk. The entire staff did a great job in helping to make it a pleasant stay. Very convenient location. Restaurant on site or nearby restaurants.
We stayed here one night, passing through. The room was very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The front staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating . They promptly had a cot delivered to our room, for an extra teen. The pool kept the teenagers busy in the evening, and in the early morning before checkout. Breakfast was more than we could ask for, before heading out on our journey (freshly made omelettes to your request, sausages, waffles, hashbrowns, yogurt, toast, cereal, and I'm sure I'm missing something). There is something there for everyone, including picky eaters. This was the perfect place to stay for a car full of tired travellers!
Very nice hotel. Very nice restaurant attached with a varied menu. Very nice breakfast included with chef prepared omelets. Clean rooms. Some 1st floor rooms have both interior and exterior doors which made trips to our vehicle convenient. Indoor pool and hot-tub. Highly recommend this hotel.
We enjoyed out stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The children also enjoyed the pool. We especially enjoyed the breakfast, which included eggs cooked to order. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. It's a nice place to stay.
The room was clean and comfortable. The included breakfast had a wonderful omelet bar where one could have eggs that are poached, etc. The healthy option of unflavored oatmeal was available, as opposed to the flavored sugary types, and this was much appreciated. There was a rubber mat, but **not even one** grab bar in the tub-shower combo, which is quite surprising in a Best Western. We also noticed this problem in the Seattle and Half Moon Bay Best Westerns. Someone in headquarters needs to address this! The attached bar/ restaurant serves dinner at reasonable prices. The indoor pool was out of order, and there is no fitness center. There is a large grassy open area in the middle of the group of buildings.
The staff were friendly, and our room was clean. The toiletries were tiny, but we had brought our own. We stayed here the night before tidal bore rafting. My kids enjoyed the pool. Breakfast was in the form of vouchers. There was someone cooking eggs to order which was nice. We went for a walk near the hotel and saw a sweet family of deer hanging out in a nearby yard.
Room was clean , price range was great, staff were excellent. Definitely a great place to stay . We've stayed here twice and would return to this location always
My mother was in the hospital and I had to bring her back home. I live in Stoney Creek, Ontario. We had to pick her up from the hospital and bring her back home with us. We have any friends in the area and will definitely will stay with you again.
We took advantage of the pool, hot tub, outside space, and on site restaurant. All are exceptional. The staff at this location are friendly, courteous and genuinely caring. 5 star rating
I was in Town on business and stated here. The place was great rooms were clean, location was good and the Staff were super friendly and helpful. Shout out to Karen from the staff who gave me some great tips on places to eat and things to see. I saw the Tidal Bore and went to the Blunt Bartender for dinner and drinks. I will be back.
We usually stay at Best Westerns, this hotel was a first for us. Free breakfast was meh. No bacon, only 2 kinds of fruit, sausages were covered in summary savory, eggs were cold, but you could get an omlett made if you'd like. Swimming pool was okay but the smell of cigarettes and Marijuana smoke coming in made it very unpleasant to stay. Smoke detector kept going off when someone showered with the door open and the light kept flickering when it was turned on. Lots of young people yelling outside at 2am (it was prom night.. we had no idea) Staff was friendly. Probably not a hotel we will stay at again unfortunately.
Bring your swimsuit to take time in the pool and hot tub, you will be relaxed. Don't skip breakfast, there is an omelette station that is worth the extra 20 minutes!
We will definitely return to this hotel it was close to all amenities and at the same time we did not experience any difficulties getting around .
Jay at the front desk went above and beyond to make our stay the best. If it was the Army he would be a General ! The room was a suite with patio deck (private) and the rooms had a hot tub and fireplace. It really made the stay enjoyable. We would highly recommend a stay here, very relaxing.
We had a one night stay here. The room was large and bed very comfortable. Swimming pool was a nice feature and we enjoyed a swim and the whirlpool bath Food in the restaurant was ok and breakfast was ok too What stood out for me was we had to request reception to arrange for our bathroom floor to be checked as it was so slippery that we were concerned we might fall. While we were in the restaurant the man from reception came to see us and told us that nobody from housekeeping was still working. He said he would go himself to clean the floor and indeed he did. The floor was no longer slippery on our return to the room. Thank you to the receptionist for his care and attention
The staff was very friendly, kind and helpful from the front desk to the servers in the restaurant. I stayed in the annex after picking up my 10 week old puppy and the room was on the ground floor with very convenient parking. The annex rooms are being renovated but mine was clean and comfortable.
Warm welcome, fantastic hospitality and very clean entrance and rooms. Excellent service throughout our stay.
Motel disguised as a hotel with violent guests. The room had a foul odour and the hot water was cold and cold water hot. There was a foul odour in the main lobby with fans running. The staff tried their best but it seems due to the location, they are very busy and do not put enough investment into updating their facilities. We will never stay there again and we will never go to Truro again.
This hotel has the warmest indoor pool I've ever been in. It is a wonderful destination for adults (there is no waterslide for children) and has a relaxing vibe, a hot tub beside the already warm pool is just icing on the cake.
Fantastic staff and everyone was cordial and friendly. We could not have asked for a better experience.
We stayed for a week for my daughter's University Graduation. Every staff we saw were incredibly kind. The Front desk staff made sure to get us a ground floor room due to 1 of my family members having bad knees. Thank you to the sweet, caring front desk staff who arranged all of this for us! The front desk staff also called us a couple of times throughout the week to make sure everything was going well and to ask if we needed anything. Our Environmental Aide was Priyansha. She is so sweet and kind! She always made sure we were stocked up with what we needed and was just a real sweetheart. She did an amazing job! We made sure to get her a thank you card! What a gem! Thank you Priyansha! Thank you Best Western Glengarry staff in Truro, Nova Scotia!! You are all so courteous and kind! We appreciate every one of you! It was a real pleasure to stay in your hotel. We don't have a single complaint at all! We already can't wait to return!! We wish you health and happiness and hope to see you soon! Tammy and Elsie from North Bay, Ontario!
Very friendly staff. Everyone was very warm and helpful. Manas at the front desk especially stood out as helpful and very friendly. My room was very clean and I enjoyed the wide array of breakfast options available during the morning buffets.
This was absolutely the friendliest hotel I have stayed at in a long time. Every staff member I came in contact with was smiling and was greeted with a good evening/ good morning. Both rooms and public areas were spotless. We will be back for sure!!
It was an amazing stay the only thing I could say that wasn't great was the shower/tub took a very long time to drain, there may have been hair catchers preventing the draining process so I would say that maybe have to cleaners or maintenance check them frequently to avoid this
This hotel is wonderful. Very accommodating. I wish the catered meals had had better labels as to what was what as someone who has a strict diet. For a variety of sandwiches — putting only one kind of meat per sandwich/wrap would be very helpful for those who don't eat all meats. The staff were fantastic! Everything was very clean.
Great customer service. Stellar breakfast included with your stay, Buffett style but they make your eggs any style fresh to order. Breakfast Menu changes from day to day, lots of choices. Hotel was clean.Room was clean, beds were comfortable. Pool was warm. Overall great stay.
Great rooms great staff good breakfast just didn't CB know if you left something on the bed it would not be changed, don't like that rile
The staff was nice and helpful the had breakfast there it was Ohkay the pancakes Was dry taters was just fair the rooms are nice house keeping was very helpful the coffee was good the shower was nice I had no complaints about the room I would go back there again
I was here for 2 nights for a business conference. The lobby was bright and clean and the reception staff very friendly and helpful. The room was a basic room but it passed my 3 part checklist that makes me happy in any hotel room. Clean sheets, clean room and quiet night sleep. The restaurant had a hot breakfast buffet that had a great assortment of items to choose from. They also have a small bar as well as a pool. I would stay here again.
Hotel was clean and breakfast was excellent. Lots of options for breakfast for kids and adults, including great made eggs of your choice in front of you. Pool was nice and warm. Hot tub was great. Our check in was late because the rooms weren't ready for an hour after check in time.
This hotel might be the best Best Western. The beds were super comfy, the pillows were the best pillows I have ever used, the staff were helpful and accommodating, and the breakfast was really good for a continental breakfast.
Jay was awesome when checking us in. Had a huge smile on his face even when he couldn't find a pen and we had a good chuckle. The omelette bar in the morning was fantastic. Coffee was warm and my cup always full. Staff were great to deal with.
We recently stayed at the Best Western Glengarry. It was an excellent choice for our family Christmas. We were able to visit with family in the area and still have our own place to unwind. The breakfast buffet was well stocked, and the omelet station provided eggs cooked to order. this was included with the room which was a wonderful amenity. The room was clean, bed was very comfortable, and the pool area was clean and warm. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. We had snow one day and the maintenance staff offered to clean off our car. All staff greeted us with a smile and were very helpful. Thank You Best Western Glengarry
Lovely place to stay over Christmas. Staff was very polite, Pool was very clean as was the hot tub. Breakfast had a large selection and the staff there was great as well. Restaurant staff was very engaging to my 4 year old grand daughter.
Excellent hotel, a nice breakfast service. Would certainly recommend. The omlet bar was great and the staff was helpful and friendly. Some areas of cell service were a bit spotty but otherwise it was flawless
I stayed at the Best Western Glengarry this past weekend for a square dance conference. This hotel was very welcoming. Relaxing piano music upon entry to the front desk area. The front desk staff were very responsive and answered any questions before I even asked them! Bravo!!
I usually don't sleep well in hotels. The beds are so comfortable, I slept like a baby . The service is impeccable and so friendly. I've used the pool and sauna. Great amenities! Went for a retreT with friends and our three day stay was really relaxing and enjoyable.
We loved the pool. It was a perfect temperature. There is also a hot tub. Bar staff amazing. They went above and beyond to help us for the entire trip. Staff overall were friendly and helpful. Food was good.
Good service and clean. Kuddos to Filipina lady who assisted us. She was nice and helpful. From the moment you step into the elegant lobby, you're greeted with warmth and sophistication. The design and attention to detail are impeccable. The rooms are spacious and luxuriously appointed, offering a perfect blend of comfort and style. The staff's hospitality is exceptional, making you feel like a valued guest.
I arrived late in evening, staying due to weather driving concerns. Although it was late front desk and restaurant staff all helpful and friendly. The room was extremely clean, with bath, shower, TV. Comfortable beds. Complimentary breakfast had many options. Decently priced, especially as last minute booking. I will definitely stay there again and recommend to friends. I have to travel a lot due to family concerns, so appreciate last minute help and friendliness that didn't gouge me on price.
Stayed here on a recent motorcycle trip. Hotel lobby was very neat. Very clean front desk was friendly, professional, and efficient. Rooms, more spacious, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. On-site laundry was a bonus. On-site restaurant wasn't even bigger bonus. Excellent food very reasonably priced. The free best western breakfast was second to none. This property didn't incredible job. Customer omelette, bar, fresh bread, biscuits, tremendous selection. Set a new standard for the BW brand. Very well done
Staff were professional, organized, service oriented, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a delicious and well stocked buffet and featured an omelet station. Dining room was clean and well staffed. Great hospitality.
My husband and I spent a weekend to celebrate our anniversary. From the minute we checked in with the front desk staff until we checked out, every single staff member was fantastic! We have travelled quite a lot within Canada and other countries and we have never encountered such consistent excellent customer service. Everyone was very genuine - friendly, kind, approachable and professional. The breakfast buffet was great with so many choices of food. I met chef Minal who was extra special. He made me a beautiful and delicious fruit dish to go with my breakfast and had it delivered to my table. He is so above and beyond good service. The dinner meals were good but we found them to be overpriced and a bit underwhelming. The service everywhere in the dining room was excellent.
After a long drive it was nice to stay somewhere clean, the pool was good and the rooms very nice! The front desk person was very helpful with the confusion of my Booking.com and was very sweet. It was a very nice stay.
Lovely hotel that gave a good first impression with excellent front desk staff . Beautiful pool and hot tub , a breakfast buffet that exceeds most others I've experienced including omelets made to order and tasteful decor . The king bed was just short of heaven I'm sure . Would definitely recommend and will stay again given the opportunity.
My spouse and I needed some personal time away from all the everyday life. It was a great time and a much needed break. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality. The staff was super friendly, room was amazing.
Free Breakfast was incredible. Dining room staff extremely helpful and accommodating, dined in the restaurant after check in and honestly pricey for what you get . Room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Booked through the official website and paid for our room with our best western points, however upon arrival our check in was awkward and questions, we weren't sure they would honour the free night . ( in the end they did)
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and loved it. The room was awesome and the services were great, especially the free breakfast ( very good ). Hotel is close to all major routes but is very quiet and very affordable. Will return again next time we are in Nova Scotia.
I am a Gold member Best Western Member. I am charged $70 more for one night from the rate that should have been offered. I will never ever I will try to book hotels from third party.I will let this known to larger audience through all the social media review.
We stayed at the Best Western Glengarry on our way to Newfoundland. What we thought would be a routine stop at a routine motel turned into a very pleasant stay. The room was large, very clean, with a comfortable bed and dinner at the hotel's restaurant was excellent value. Even better, due to our diet restrictions, the hotel provided us with a delicious fruit salad for breakfast, even though it was not normally included. We highly recommend this hotel for its high level of friendly service.
We needed to stop for the night while travelling and this hotel was farther than we wanted to travel, but it was an excellent place to stop. The hotel staff were wonderful and very pleasant. The room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was better than most hotel breakfasts. This was an excellent hotel and we would visit again.
After booking months in advance, I received a voicemail stating they were changing the room I booked to the main building. Once I called back they said I no longer had a reservation. In a panic, I asked them to keep looking as it was still confirmed on my end. They stated I would have to wait for the manager to called me back. Once she did, she noted she would have to change my room the main building but I would still receive a suite. I asked if the prices would be the same she said yes. I left it at that only to receive a call the day of stay asking if I was still coming. I was, and he was confused because my booking said canceled. He then quickly said oh never mind I see it. Upon arrival, checking in was smooth. We got to our room and it was incredibly disappointing. We had originally booked a drive up suite, with kitchen, a beautiful bathroom and fireplace. Our new room looked like somewhere you go to get murdered, yet we had to pay the same price. It was incredibly disappointing as this was a special night for me and my partner. Definitely will be staying somewhere else next month.
This was not my first time at this hotel and it won't be my last. The staff at the front desk are so friendly and welcoming. I requested a cot and it was brought to my room in minutes and the gentleman who delivered it asked if we needed more blankets and pillows to which he returned with very promptly I feel as though the staff go out of their way to make sure you have the best stay possible.
We stayed here for four nights while we explored Nova Scotia. From our arrival until the day we left the service was impeccable. Staff are friendly, interested, efficient. (Thank you Kumar and team.) Nothing was too much trouble, from sorting out laundry to sourcing a mobile phone expert. (Thank you, Bhandu!) Our room was immaculate and very comfortable, and kept that way by expert housekeeping teams. It was a pleasure to stay here.
This is a great place to stay which is in the heart of Truro. Very clean rooms and great staff. There is a nice size pool along with a hot tub. Breqkfast is included with your stay. I would strongly rrcommend this hotel as a great place to stay.
Loved it here. We arrived later at night and were greeted right away by a wonderful front desk agent. He got us checked in quickly and provided the info on breakfast and other anemities. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good as well, lots of choices. Would stay here again. no complaints.
typical BestWestern, clean room, decent bed, typical breakfast BUT comes with a custom omlette which was really good. understand a wedding going on that night which explains why a group of 20+ people where knocking on the door multiple time which I finally answered. not the hotels fault and the where nice in the am giving us a gift bag and they offered a discount which I declined as it was not there fault
We are after staying at this Best Western Location several times and it has been nothing short of a pleasant experience. The staff are extremely friendly and courteous, the rooms very nice and very clean as we did thoroughly checkout throughout the room . The pool was used while there and it was very clean as well. Breakfast had everything you could want and it is self service so you can pick and choose what you want and a nice touch it the chef will make you and omlet to your liking . I honestly can not say anything bad about the Best Western glenngarry. If you have not stayed here and are going to be in the Truro area i would strongly recommend staying here.
The hotel was full when we stayed there, but we had a quiet night. The room was a good size and well-furnished, comfortable beds. The breakfast included with price of stay was really good, better than most Best Westerns. Staff do their jobs well. I would stay here again.
We stayed for a night they are pet friendly which enabled us to bring our 3 lb pup with us. We made several trips to the pool and hot tub which was amazing .we had a problem with our tv and maintenance was there immediately to fix it .The pool was very warm and relaxing.
Hotel is being renovated but you wouldnt realize this as it didnt interfere with quality of stay friendly staff great food. Meeting room was clean and quiet and very accomodating. Service was great from all regards
What a great place to stay. Friendly helpful, excellent service. wonderful heated pool and a hot tub to ease the sore muscles. Wow... Thank you for a perfect night's rest. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended!!!
My family and I have stayed here multiple times. The suite is great because we have small kids allows us to have our own space. Comes with a sit down breakfast and a great pool! Couldn't recommend it more
The Truro location has a fantastic group of people working there . The location is going through some renovations and updating but it doesn't affect your stay . The property and amenity's Are clean and tidy . Rooms and the staf are fantastic.
Clean, bright, friendly staff. Beds were comfortable with lots of pillows. The breakfast buffet was hot and fresh……lots of different choices hot & cold. Staff was very acommodating and your eggs will be cooked just for you. Will stay there again!
The recently remodeled Best Western Glengarry does not fail to please. It's clean, welcoming and overall wonderful. For an older facility, it offers nicely appointed amenities, and comfort. Definitely will be returning soon
The staff were very friendly and helpful but the bar across the road was extremely noisy, I was up for a significant amount of the night. If they figured out a way of quieting things down their review would be higher.
Highly recommend this motel for more than one reason,, great location,, clean,, great friendly staff and superb continental breakfast staff at front desk were so kind & friendly as well as the ladies in the lounge,,
The lobby and hallways have been redone and look great. Room 268 was OK, as expected. However, Refrigerator didn't work. And desk lamp was super dusty, shower tile grout needs brushing. Two switched by the bed were unidentifiable by us or front desk employee. The dinner menu was very limited and the Butter Chicken was so hot (spicy) it was brutal. Wish we'd been warned. Shout out to a server from Estonia in the restaurant in the evening (sorry didn't get her name) and Izabelle in the morning both were superb.
Great value for your money love the pools and hot tubs. Happy to have a place to take my pets . The only thing I would say is the pool should be scooped more often. We like the breakfast but pancakes and regular yoghurt would be nice. Staff is friendly and helpful
The staff very friendly, great breakfast included in your stay, There is an inside pool and an outside pool, we didn't use, but looked very clean. Rooms were cleaned, close to everything, easy to get around Truro.
We went here as a last minute change of plans on our East Coast trip and were pleasantly surprised. The Main Hotel building is new and pleasant to look at. The front desk staff (the manager) was very pleasant and helpful making the check-in & check-out simple & efficient. Our room was in one of the separate outbuildings that were "drive-up" and it was clean and well suited to spending the night. the room had a comfortable king sized bed & a couple of "tub chairs" so it was quite comfortable. The internet/Wifi was poor quality & kept cutting out. Has both an indoor & outdoor pool that were used by several people though we didn't take advantage of this. Included a hot breakfast the following morning that was quite good and the coffee was decent. All in all a pleasant place that I would return too if I ever find myself in Truro again
The complete staff were very professional, friendly, and welcoming. Customer Service overall was exceptional. The rooms were tidy, spotlessly clean, and we had all the amenities needed. The pools were wonderful, bar and restaurant was excellent, price was very reasonable, location is perfect. This hotel exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be returning.
Excellent service, very clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was great! A large variety of items to choose from. the service staff was very polite and helpful. This was my 2nd stay and I would definitely come back again!
We had a decent stay at this hotel, walking distance from the train. Our room was not ready at check in but the pool was. We needed to remedy a few things when we got our room but breakfast was yummy.
My sister and I showed up around 3:45pm to check in. We were at the hotel for the concert that was taking place in Truro that started at 6pm and our room wasnt ready for check in. I've managed both housekeeping and front desk departments throughout my career and I was completely speechless with how Adam handled the situation. We waited over an hour in the lobby and watched nearly every other guest who showed up check in with no problems. I know full house days are chaotic so I tried being patient. As 5pm was approaching, i asked the young woman (who was delightful by the way) if we can work together with her manager to find a solution for us to get checked in because no one else was having issues and we now had 45 minutes to get showered and ready to go. Adam was completely unwilling to help. He tried to act like i was being irate which i was not. I've worked in hospitality my entire career and i would never intentionally be disrespectful. I was however asking them to help me come up with a solution. It was so bad that other guests who saw how long we were waiting asked if we wanted to get ready in their rooms with them just to be sure we would make it to the concert in time! He wouldnt switch our room with someone who wasnt there yet, and there was absolutely no sense of urgency to find housekeeping to figure out when our room would be ready. Finally after 5pm he said he would "make an exception this one time and switch rooms". We finally got into our room in a separate building on the second floor and it stunk like pee and there were paw prints all over one of the duvets. We didnt care at that point because we had a half an hour to get ready for our concert. I truly felt so direspected by him. Adam has zero business working in the hospitality industry and i will not be back.
This is the best hotel experience I've ever had. The staff were all kind and accommodating, the whole hotel was very clean, the breakfast was amazing. You definitely get quality for a reasonable price when you stay here! I will be recommending it to anyone who asks where to stay in Truro!
This hotel is apparently going through renovations. I did not see any renovation mess or hear anything. The lobby and restaurant are nice. The hallway carpets are nice. The elevator is very tiny. The rooms may have been updated? The bathroom is way too small. They have room to expand bathroom with wasted space just outside the bathroom. The tub did not drain when having a shower. You need to hold the toilet lever down when flushing. There was no grab bar in bathtub nor was there anywhere to hang towels except 1 hook on bathroom door. No housekeeping so either reuse towels or ask for new. This hotel still uses small bottles of shampoo etc. I think there are people living in this hotel. It was cheaper than other hotels and it is clear why. The hallways were very warm. No AC in halls. The AC in room worked fine. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was organized and good. You need a card from front desk for each person. They use sheets over and under the uncovered duvet. The location is great. Parking good. Concerns with bathroom tub shared when checking out. Internet was spotty and slow.
We had a wonderful time as always! Our kids love the indoor and outdoor pools and the delicious buffet breakfast! We will be back! Thank you for the wonderful service! We love exploring the town of Truro and the surrounding areas.
I booked a non smoking room directly at BW website. Upon arrival, I was given a room at the second floor that has a balcony where people are allowed to smoke outside the hallway. Room is outdated, dirty and smells bad. When I went to the supervisor to complain about the room. I was told that there is only 1 room with kingsize bed and that will not be enough for my family. He then offer newly renovated rooms, these rooms smells like paint. The maintenance guy offer to make the smell go away by spraying some room deodorizer which will not help at all. its only going to cover up the smell of paint.
I had a major flight delay resulting in my having to stay in another city . I called this hotel as soon as I knew (around 5:30 PM) but they still charged my card for a nights stay. In July in Truro you know they still filled the room. Will be avoiding this hotel and other BWs from now on.
Stayed one night in July. Booked early. Price reasonable. Nice clean bright room. Was in main building. Loved the outdoor pool with lots of lawn chairs. Used Microwave and fridge in room. Ice machine was a nice touch. Hot Breakfast was quite good and coffee is served. All included. Lots of seating. Would return if in Truro.
From the time we walked into the Best Western Truro-Glengarry, until the time we walked out, we were treated with respect, The friendly and courteous staff excelled in their jobs, from the front desk to housekeeping to kitchen to maintenance....Everyone should be proud.....We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Nova Scotia.....Epitome of Nova Scotian hospitality! Thank you all...
We enjoyed a 2 night stay during our 2 week vacation. This hotel had an indoor and outdoor pool, with hot tub, a hot breakfast included. The beds were very comfortable, the room spacious and the shower pressure was great.
Stayed here 3 nights for our Nova Scotia Knights of Columbus annual organizational business meetings. Overall the stay was great. The business center is large, restaurant is good, the free buffet breakfast was very good and staff helpful and friendly.
I go to this hotel once a month and it is always an awesome experience. Happy and eager to help you with anything. Will be back to this place most definitely. The rooms are clean and the renovations have never hindered anything.
This hotel ticks all the boxes. On a recent road trip around Nova Scotia we stopped here for a one night stay. The location was great, our room was large and had all the facilities we needed. Our check in was smooth and the staff we meet on reception, in the bar and in the restaurant were all incredibly friendly and helpful. We ate in the hotel and food was good although at breakfast next morning many items had ran out and weren't replaced. It also took a while to get a decaffeinated coffee because they needed to brew me a fresh pot but I am use to that happening, and coffee was excellent. Very hard to find fault with this unassuming hotel.
Not often that I give a bad review. This hotel is made up of a new section and an older section. We were in the older section. Bed and room were ok. However the room showed its age. Chairs had rips in them. WiFi, in today's age, non existent, continously shut down, had to start over. Could neve conduct a meeting if I had to. Finally, the smoking canister was outside our door, this was moved by me, across the parking lot. We had enough trouble with noise without having smokers outside my door. And when we complained about the noise, the front desk said quiet hour was at 11 pm. Does this allow a crowd to party on the balcony with loud music before 11? To be fair, restaurant was good, front desk was accommodating and I did have a good night of sleep. However, I wouldn't stay here again.
Always a great stay, the place and amenities are great but the best part is the staff. They are courteous, friendly, and always helpful. When registering, they were prompt and efficient, told us all information that we may need to know and how to reach them if we required anything.Top-Notch!!
I had a fantastic stay this weekend! I had an awesome night sleep, the staff was amazing! The breakfast was well staffed and the buffet items were fully stocked. The location was perfect being that close to the highway.
It was perfect. Everything was wonderful, great food, very positive atmosphere, very polite staff members. It was very clean, and overall had a great experience while I stayed, with my mom and a family friend.
Shout out to the staff of the Glengarry in Truro. Very friendly staff. Free to visit friends staying there with no time on having to leave. Would recommend to any of my friends looking for a place to stay. They were in middle of wallpapers and carpeting but nothing was left in the halls at end of the day
Everything from the staff, cleanliness, food and comfort was great! Looking forward to going back very soon and will recommend to anyone! Thank you to the amazing staff who go above and beyond to make this a wonderful stay! :)
We travelled to Truro with friends to get a change of scenery from our own backyards and chose the Glengarry as out rest place. The hotel has a great pool and pool area. The hot tub is nice but could use a few more jets. Thé restaurant was open and we enjoyed the breakfast that came with the room. I don't eat eggs so on the classic breakfast they gave me a pancake instead. Yes, I miss the buffet but I understand these are different food times. One tiny critique there …$ 4.20 is a lot of money for 8oz. of orange juice. The hotel was mid-wallpaper change and post carpet change. Nice to see that things are being updated.
Not clean.. hair and mold behind the bed, long black hairs all throughout the bed sheets. When we called and asked for a new room/new bedding, we were asked ‘this is a weird question but is it long black hair?', must not have been the first complaint. John working the front desk was extremely passive aggressive, had a condescending tone of voice and did not want to take any steps to resolve the issues in our room. The building is also so dated that the electrical outlets were lose/hanging off the wall and obviously did not work.
Staff was rude and unhelpful. Being renovated but no attempt to clean hallways of drywall pieces. Very bad odor throughout. Air conditioning was not working. When called front desk was told it was not yet dewinterized. When I asked if we could get a fan for the room was told they didn't have any. Was offered no positive solution or rate decrease. We had to sleep with the windows open to get some air circulation and take the heat out of the room - in April the night temperature was about 5 degrees outside.
I had read several reviews complaining about cleanliness, so I booked with a but of hesitation, but our room and the hotel in general were very clean from my observations. We stayed in the main building and our room looked like it had recently been redone. My only complaint about the room was that it was very warm and we were unable to turn down the heat for sleeping. Renovations were being done throughout the hotel during our stay, but it caused virtually no disruption or noise for us. The young lady at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful. In fact all of the staff we encountered seemed nice. All staff who had direct contact with guests were wearing masks. They have a charging station for guests with electric cars, which they keep locked when not in use. When we asked to use the charger one of the staff came down and unlocked it for us immediately. The complimentary breakfast was very good with several options available from the menu, but for some reason they were playing rock music in the dining room at breakfast time. Overall we had a very good experience and would return.
Hotel and rooms were clean. Our bathroom floor was coated in something sticky and was dangerously slippery when wet. Like someone had coated it in only soap. In the evening our kids went swimming. I had my water bottle in hand when entering, when the front desk attendant called out and said ‘no food and beverages allowed on the pool deck.' After I returned from taking my water back to my room, I found that EVERY ADULT (not kidding) had beverages with them! And not all water! There were beer cans as well. Not only did this experience make me feel embarrassed, I then felt singled out and left out. Partially enforcing this rule just aggravates and frustrates guests and leads to poor reviews…. Breakfast was included, but two of the four options were sold out. They had plenty of time to prepare for crowds and extra meals since the hotel had been sold out for weeks beforehand (teams). Additionally, I had called to see if gluten free options were available for breakfast and was told there were. Upon check-in I confirmed this. At breakfast, in addition to the limited options, there was no gf toast.
good food good service. Breakfast was fast and simple but tasty. The staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is within walking distance of Victoria Park - a site with beautiful waterfalls and walking trails.
We took our two kids here for a night on March break. We chose it because of all the hotels in Truro online it had the best location, the pool and we heard great things about the restaurant in the hotel. Upon arriving the lobby was lovely and the staff at the desk was great they gave us our room number and told us it was outback which we didn't really understand at first so we drove around the building and there were these old strip motel style buildings outback that we're not actually attached to the hotel. We were given no heads up on this when booking, and we're not given any other option. The room itself reaked. You could smell the musty cigarette smoke. I'm sure it hasn't been smoked in a while but it for sure was at one point in time and that is all you could smell as soon as you open the door it was overwhelming. I have bad allergies and within ten minutes of being there my head was pounding. Other than the cobwebs all along the ceiling corners of the room was not terrible. Just dated but it was what it was. Almost immediately we took our son to the pool because that is the main reason we went to the hotel was for the pool. The pool was good. I went to get in the hot tub but because the jet weren't on at that moment I could see all the first in the bottom of the hot tub as well as a bandaid. Needless to say I did not take part in the hot tub. After swimming we went to the restaurant located in the hotel and I have only good things to say about the restaurant. The food was great! Our server was lovely! Very helpful, very friendly, everything came fast, was hot and tasted great! Upon returning back to the room I've stayed back with our baby as it was her bed time, my husband took our son back to the pool. At this point people are obviously in their rooms because when we checked and it was only 4 o'clock so I don't think a lot of people were there yet judging by the empty parking lot. It was SO loud. The people beside us had a dog that barked all night. The people above us were blasting music, slamming doors and yelling until the we morning. There were younger people outside in the parking lot smoking, yelling and in and out of their rooms banging doors all night. I cannot tell you how many times the baby was woken up. To think, I was worried taking a 6 month old to a hotel because I didn't want her to disturb anyone. We went back to the pool in the morning on my son's request and there was no one when we first went there and within 20 minutes it was packed. To my understanding they have a pool capacity of 25 people, Which is fine because there wasn't more than 25 people in the pool but the people sitting around watching the people in the pool there was easily over 25 people and it just became so crowded and loud we left because I didn't feel comfortable there with the baby, as nobody was wearing masks in the actual pool room. I have to say I'm very disappointed because I did read a lot of reviews before we booked with this hotel and I didn't see anything like that but just the fact of where we were placed in these weird motel buildings outback I feel like for what we paid for our room it was ridiculous. I can't understand how they can charge the same for that, as they do a room inside the actual hotel. And out of all of this the worst part for me was they only had decaf coffee in the room which to me is crazy because who wakes up in the morning and wants a big cup of decaf coffee. I'm a mother of two small kids, I need my coffee! If I could give you any advice just pick a different hotel.
We spent 2 nights at the Best Western in Truro. Restaurant was ok. Indoor pool had a dirt ring amd so did the tub in our room. Our room was not cleaned after our first night. When i checked with the front desk they said due to covid they were not cleaning peoples rooms. We were not told this at check in. When we insisted our room be cleaned a hotel representative noted that we would need to vacate our room 30 minutes before the cleaner arrived and not enter for 45 minutes after the cleaner had finished. We were not happy with our stay and would recommend this hotel. Year past we had stayed here and the rooms were clean.
The Best Western Glengarry is Truro is a great hotel. You won't find friendlier staff anywhere. The internet worked great..no issues. The pool and the hot tub were very relaxing even during the pandemic. Everything was clean and sanitized. My family and I were very comfortable here.
We moved hotels because the previous was not great…the Glengarry delivered clean, comfortable beds, a great pool, and a delicious FULL breakfast. The price was below the lesser-quality hotel we previously stayed at. Stay here the next time you are in Truro!
A weekend with my grandkids for March Break. It was awesome and the grandkids loved it! Unfortunately it was only for one night but very much worth it! Thank you all for being so amazing and making our stay so great!
room was disgusting, and my daughter came out of the room with a used band aid. VERY DISAPPONTED. Also nothing was done about a guest telling my mother who has a brain tumor, that he hopes she doesnt get cancer and dies. VERY APPAULLED at this location for doing NOTHING
should had reviewd this before my stay, do not go there it is filthy carpet and restroom probably they save on water and labor breakfast was late then much of excuses, i could not finish it noisy noisy.. could not sleep they had bar across street
The pool is very nice & heated. In the summer the outside pool is very nice also. Room was clean. Wi-Fi worked well. Staff were friendly. Breakfast is very good with options. Excellent value for the cost. Very easy to find off the highway.
Staff could not have been more accommodating, friendly and professional. Rooms were ready on time. Clean and comfortable. Centrally located. From reservation to checking out, a great experience. Would book again next trip to Truro
This hotel is great. Staff are friendly and HAPPY! Hotel is clean and the food is good. Has a pool and hot tub. Vending machines are NOT over priced. I would recommend staying here! If your traveling for business they have great conference rooms and the catering was delicious.
Very sad to try this hotel, you will know what does independently managed when you book here. Unfortunately cold breakfast unavailable lift dirt wash room. Do not fool of the photo above, I got out after 2 nights could not take the noise. Did I say when it rains you find the water in room. They refused to change the room.
It was very nice!!! Clean, a nice roomy room with king bed. The staff were all very pleasant. My husband watched them deal with a difficult customer and they remained calm and pleasant. The breakfast included had several good options and even though I have celiac disease, they managed to put me together a good alternative. We stayed four nights and although the hotel was full the last night with some real partiers, it was better than normal because the walls really mute the sounds. Would definitely stay there again.
Horrible Customer Service, Rude front desk staff. booked a king room NON-SMOKING went in smelled like smoke they said it was cleaning Chemicals but it was clearly a smoked smelling room. My wife has Asthma and we had a new born baby with us. They said they would give us another room in a different building which we were ok with. when we got to the new room is was a down graded room with two queen beds. went back to the front desk and to question why we did not get another king room. they said they told us it would be in a different building(which they did) but did not tell us we would no longer be in a king size room. Staff were rude and belittling. And we are still stuck paying for a king room.(first room had cob webs hanging from the ceiling in the bathroom very dirty.) No cell service in the hotel. went to charge my phone the outlet did not work. Would not recommend this hotel would give it no stars if possible
The service was amazing. Has a nice hot tub and pool. Stayed in the executive suite which had a nice little private outside area. Would definitely return to this location to stay again. Rooms are a bit outdated, but bed was comfortable. Partnership with restaurant was great and the wings were amazing.
I've stayed at this hotel many times over the years and since the new ownership it has deteriorated badly. My most recent stay was awful and will be my last. Common areas of the hotel were dirty and grimy. Bedroom was disgusting - dirty walls, mould in bathroom and covering a/c unit, carpet was so filthy I couldn't take my shoes off, door to outside seemed defective which was a significant security risk. Staff were rude and unhelpful - seemed like they really didn't want to be there. I actually heard one shout that to her colleagues in front of customers. There were two exceptions to the awful staff - Joella was pleasant and efficient and Cassie is the shining star of this hotel. She was bright, friendly and tried her best to be helpful - she's too good for this place. This hotel was way over-priced for the experience. I'd liken it to a cheap motel. I really hope the hotel responds to this review with more than "we thank you for your feedback and take it on board". I would like to know what specific changes are going to be made and when. A proper apology would go a long way to help.
We wanted to get away for a couple of days and this was great, The food and service was great. Went for a few drives to look at different things they have a nice park in Truro also. It was just what we needed. Thanks You Brian and Donna
Early September we stayed at Best Western Glengarry in Truro, it was my first and probably my last stay with them. The room was very outdated and the carpet filthy. No cleaners came into the room over the 4 day trip, so our towels we put out in the corridor and had to request clean ones and even received a dirty one back, our garbage we would take out and give to one of the cleaners and it was left in the hallway all day usually. With COVID 19 I assumed the hotel would be clean and welcoming, not once did I see anyone wipe or clean anything. Very disappointed in the hotel in general and would not recommend.
We have stayed at BW Glengarry in Truro many times in the past and we were so disappointed with our recent stay. The hotel has gone down in quality and cleanliness. One would think cleanliness would increase due to strict covid cleaning protocols. The carpet was not vacuumed, hallways and entrance to hotel had dirty floors, garbage can at main entrance overflowing, ice machines out of order and water pooling on the second floor, bathroom full of dust and mildew/mould. Wanted to open windows to get fresh air but lock was broken and window wouldn't open. Dirty hand prints on glass, dust on sills in dining room, etc. I could go on and on but to sum it up the hotel needs a major overhaul. Breakfast was inedible and we had to wait 15 minutes for the server to find clean coffee mugs? Once the mugs arrived they were dirty. Ordered hard eggs and got over easy with a side of raw hash browns, gross. Pictures of a few issues included. Stay away!
Travelled for a conference. I've been staying at this property for the past 20 years. Over the past 2 years since the ownership has changed the quality, cleanliness and service has declined significantly. I was extremely disappointed and will not likely stay here again. There was black mould growing in the bathtub on the grout and not just my room but also friends that were staying at the property as well. There is a disgusting sticky hand print on the picture hanging on the wall, the AC unit was gross as well as the bathroom shower event.
Loved the indoor and outdoor pools, included breakfast was budget friendly with options, staff was attentive and professional. Lobby was very clean and welcoming. Wifi worked great. The beds were so comfy with lots of pillows.
The advantages: price is very competitive, room is big, there are 2 pools (1 inside and 1 outside), parking is free The disadvantages: very busy road, location not central (not far though), small bathroom that was quite dated Staff nice but not very professional. 2 examples: when we check in, we ask about the outside pool schedule as we'd like to have a swim after our trail in Victoria park. We're told that it's open all pm, no problem. We come back at 5:00 and are told that the pool is closed for the day as it needs cleaning :-( The next day, we order breakfast. My husband asks for some tea. We receive everything except for the mug and the tea. We receive the teapot but no mug which I finally decide to get myself. And when the waitress comes back, she starts pouring coffee in my husband's tea! She stops, apologizes but doesn't change the mug! Average customer experience
This hotel was great value for the money. Clean comfortable rooms, great location and delicious breakfast. The beds were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and followed the COVID rules. This made us feel very safe.
claim to be hub of nova scotia, ha, it is hub of night life.. noise crowd police pub jam fob key not working have to go 2x to reception georgina will reply as usual dull breakfast dinner not worth value
Never have i ever stayed in a filthier hotel. I wiped up some water spilt on the floor and the kleenex (see pic) was disgusting. There was a long brown hair in the shower and the mildew is astonishing both the shower and sink. I had to send my daughter out for benadryl be uase of allergies from something in the room. I have stayed in a lot of places and never been in a room this dirty.
hotel showed while searching, booked for 5 days, when arrived found bad experience, bad reception, very slow elevator, swimmers walk wet in corridors, cold dinner, ignored room clean, noisy neighbor pub, small limited parking, broken alarm, uncontrolled TV remote
Probably the best option in Truro, but depending on what your situation this is your take on this hotel will vary. Very kid friendly with a great out door pool with lots of outdoor space. On the other hand this hotel is quite weather worn with needs for updating and repairs and a very young staff. It's a project in process I think.
We always like to stay at this hotel because we have never had any problems and the staff was always very friendly. However this time was a disaster! During the middle of the night my body started itching really bad so my husband and I got up and slept in second bed. I couldn't sleep because of itching so got up and my husband checked room and found ant on our bed and many ants crawling on windows. We took pictures of my bites and the ants that my husband killed. Went to the front desk to show the manager with a response that it didn't seem to matter. She didn't even seem shocked. I told her we should not have to pay the bill but she insisted that we did. So no sleep and bitten by ants. Terrible experience very disappointed room 266
Just stayed at that location this past weekend for 1 night. Our room was adequate all things considered. Dated but clean and comfortable. We had attempted to check in quite early hoping the room was ready but we were told it was not and check in was 3:00. We continued on our day and came back at 250 and was told it was not ready but would be at 3. I asked if I could complete the check in as I was at the counter and go to the room later but was told no. I then asked if I should just wait off to the side for the 8 mins remaining and she told us we would have to come back up at 3 to check in. Anyways, at 3 sharp there was a line up and people were checking in. At 10 after 3:00 I approached the desk and spoke to a young man who called someone and was told it would be another 20 mins and I would have to come back. At this point I said is there someplace we can just sit and instead of me continuing coming up you could just let me know when it was ready which he did. Super nice guy and I would suggest going forward that rather than telling people to keep checking back, instead find a way to let them know when it is ready.
Our family stays here for leisure staycations and to relax at the pool/hot tub. I especially love that they have pet friendly rooms and our dog can enjoy vacation with us We're always kindly greeted and feel appreciated to keep coming back, I highly recommend
Great stay, rooms were clean and comfortable and included both a microwave and mini fridge. Included breakfast was a hot breakfast and there were multiple options available, all of which sounded delicious. The three of us thats stayed were extremely pleased with this an entity!
A wonderful break with our granddaughter who swam in both pools inside and out Her laughter was music to our ears after the last year and covid The bar was relaxing and food delicious The staff were ALL very friendly and helpful
I stayed here a while back and had some issues (see my previous review) with a dirty and unkept room. I'll give credit where it is due - the hotel did reach out to me, assured me that the issue was isolated and that they would fix the issues with the room I was in. They even offered me 50% off a future stay. After some initial hesitation, I decided to take them up on the offer and stayed again for a night. This time, I was placed in the main ('nice') building as opposed to the drive up units in the back where I was the first time. Once I got settled in the room, things looked fine at first glance, but as night came on and it warmed up a little, I noticed several cleanliness issues: 1) The blind on the one small window in the room is literally shredded. How have they not fixed this?!?! 2) The AC was ROTTEN dirty and so loud it literally shook the room when it was on. 3) There was a very sketchy stain under the sink (I'm afraid to think wat it might be....) Pics attached show the disgusting conditions of the room. I was going to say something to the front desk, but after already being scolded by them once when I asked for a couple forks for pizza I picked up - they wouldnt give me real forks from the restaurant), I didn't want to put up with his attitude again. Also, the breakfast in the morning - there were two servers (really one was a busser but he was helping becuase it was busy) - took a very long time. The food was not hot and the workers were literally running around. They were complaining to each other about being busy. The only interaction I really had was a woman telling me in a stern tone the very limited options from the menu I could have with the breakfast voucher that came with the room. Most things on the menu had an upcharge. So shady for 'included' breakfast. So, clearly my first stay wasn't a one off. I've now been in two types of rooms - both rotten dirty and in bad condition. Unless I'm VERY unlucky, how am I not supposed to assume this is how the entire hotel is?
The rave of this stay is chef Mark and the restaurant! Food was amazing, good portion. The waitress was so nice! And fast for being the only server working on her own. Chef Mark was helping her wait tables with a smile as it was busy for breakfast! Great teamwork, great food, and great people! The front desk staff was also very friendly! Room was acceptable.
Our room was dirty, smelled really bad, had damp floors and mold on the soap holder and the ice machine has mild all on it too. Damage to almost every wall as well as the clock, key card didn't work in the outside door. The wallpaper is peeling and looks terrible. After sleeping in the room (had no other option) my partner was vomiting. Will never ever go to this location again. The person at the front desk didn't care to do anything and did even look surprised. If I could upload pictures here and people had a way to smell the room that would be better because words don't explain just how bad it really was
Chose Best Western Glengarry for the jacuzzi suite, though as much as we LOVED that, the Kitchen Staff made our visit! The room was absolutely gorgeous, clean and spacious, everything we had hoped for. We were already very pleased when greeted by the sweetest server (who we after learned works in operations but our server of the evening LOL). Not only did she help with food and beverage suggestions, BUT went above and beyond as our bartender.. AND don't get me started about the Chef! From coming table side to talk about his food, to allowing us to taste test!!!!!. The restaurant totally by-passed ALL of our expectations and we can't wait to stay again!!
Had an amazing stay at the Best Western in truro! The room was clean, the front desk staff friendly and helpful, and the beds were very comfortable. We were allowed to check in early, book a private pool time and relax in their back pool area.
This Hotel is a infestation of bugs ,Covid and is filthy dirty ,flies in every window.Finger prints all over the room we rented ,we cleaned the room ourselves as the owner's staff can barely clean themselfs ,You will notice that if one passes you or serves you breakfast ,body funk ,filthy hands ,who would eat that breakfast served by a smelly person.pu.We loved Georgina ,and the front door staff.lts the owner who is the problem....This is a 2 star hotel world ,Temember that even after the renovations.lt be a 3 star if they cleaned the rooms and hallways.
As a diamond member with BW, I was not offered an upgrade. Placed in a wheelchair room that needed a better cleaning. The water never got very hot. The room was the last one down a long hall and it faced the road. A bit noisy. BW can do better.
Stay at this hotel regularly for work purposes. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Clean rooms and nice amenities such as pool and spa as well as piano lounge. Would and will stay again. Four out of Five
I could stay at several other locations in the area as I travel every second weekend. But I'm so happy with the staff, Georgina the manager and the owner. Awesome team. This is the cleanest hotel I've ever seen. It's literally polished clean! The breakfast has two options whereas most places hand you a brown bag! Best value for your money
We stayed for one night over March Break. Our room was fine, a standard hotel room. The fridge and microwave are nice with a family. We have 3 children so ordered a cot. There was adequate space to set that up too. The hotel is a little dated, but was very clean. The breakfast is generous. 5 of us shared 4 breakfasts that came free with our stay, and there were leftovers. The pool area was clean. You book time which was nice, though not really enforced. We had a group of 10, which is the COVID-19 limit for the pool area, people were respectful when we let them know it was our time. The man at the front desk in the evening (I'm sorry I didn't get his name) was outstanding and very helpful in dealing with rambunctious children running in the hallways and any other requests. My husband is a Marriott Platinum Member and we have had opportunity to stay at som lovely resorts and hotels, this stay was great for what it was, and certainly much better than the reviews I read prior to our trip. In my opinion we got more than we paid for!
Checked into our room. Floor was dirty and so was furniture. Staff had to give us another room (which was great they did!!!!). The room we were switched to was a little bit better. The room we had (king suite with jet tub) was pretty outdated looking (wallpaper, furniture, pictures on walls etc.) Breakfast was ok. If I were to go back I would want a more updated room.
The staff are the best I've ever seen. The owner is so approachable and friendly. The entire property is exceptionally clean. The value for this property is above all. I highly recommend this place. Clean, comfortable, friendly staff and priced reasonably
Pool room was cold. hall had a strong tobacco odor. very little hot water. The shower was full hot and it was barely warm. Hot tub was out of order. Staff were very friendly and pleasant. Manager was very pleasant. Location was good. Went skating at the outdoor rink in town.
Rented rooms for a girls night. The hotel was clean and comfortable some things were a bit dated but clean. We liked the convenience of attending an event on site as well as the on site restaurant. Pool/ hot tub area was well Kept and tidy with lots of towels. Breakfast was included in our room rate.
My daughter, godchild, and I recently enjoyed a lovely getaway from Halifax to Truro. We stayed at the Best Western Glengarry. We very much enjoyed our time at the Glengarry. We were delighted to be able to check-in early, and it was a lovely perk to be granted a late check-out. The room was nice and the beds were comfortable. The shower provided consistant hot water and had great water pressure. All staff members that we encountered were very friendly, helpful, and provided perfect customer service. The food at the restaurant was delicious and had a great menu selection. The 'grab and go' breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The location of the hotel is very convenient and close to all of the great things one can do in Truro. We are very much looking forawrd to our next stay at the Best Western Glengarry. :-)
Clean and quiet. Nice bathtub! Easy fast check in. Very comfortable beds and lots of pillows! Choice of free hot or cold breakfast each morning at a time you choose! Had a very nice time! Will stay again!
We where not told about meals being take out when we checked in. When we did get breakfast the next morning the Food was cold, bland and unappealing. The suite was comfortable and the bed was great. They need to work on the quality of their food
This is the cleanest most friendly staff I've ever encountered at any hotel. The rate for the quality is unbeatable. The staff are laid back abd friendly. They remember you when you are returning. The cost is super below what you would expect but the quality lacks nothing
Had a dog with us so we were in the building behind the main hotel. Happy to be there as I think it was quiet being further from the street. Vinyl plank floor. Nice room with comfortable bed. Clean pool.
So enjoyable. Great staff. Very helpful. Covid restrictions on breakfast was no problem. Customizable breakfast ready at a time you specified. Hot. Very pleasant eating in the room. This surprised me. I might even say that it was preferable. People here are always so helpful.
Efficient check in, nice clean cozy room. Pool and hot tub were great and they delivered a hot breakfast of bacon, eggs, sausage and hashbrowns right to my room in the morning. Stay were friendly and called down tondouble check my room always okay shortly after check in.
Room was not as shown online. (Whirlpool tub for one vs two) Room not properly cleaned (floor sticky, tub had hair and dirt in it) Remote did not function properly and heat was not even between two rooms. Lastly, the blackout curtains did not fully close.
I have booked numerous overnight stays in Halifax/Dartmouth and Bridgewater with Best Western and have always had great service. I am a local resident of stewiacke and was told that I could not book a room at the Truro location because I was a “local”. I am in the process of moving, work a hard job and just wanted a night away to myself to escape. When did this become a rule for hotels? So confused. I left and went to the Inn on Prince and got a great deal. Will not be returning.
Enjoyed our stay. Everything was fabulous. Our room was immaculate, the bed comfortable and the breakfast was hot and delicious. Front desk staff were very cheerful and helpful. We were there for a wedding and the meal was 100%.
I was put in the hotel on June 24 to Sept 1 cause of a fire at my place.. it was the best experience I have ever had staying at a hotel.. everyone was so friendly and always gave me what I needed . The house keeping stuff are so nice and friendly and speedy . They are fast at getting what you need for your room .
Very nice place to stop! Front desk service was excellent!!With Covid restrictions in place, breakfast was delivered to our room. Food was great and full hot breakfast! Rooms were large and very clean! I would def stay in this property again!
I had the pleasure of being assisted by Amar when I called to book a reservation for my daughter & her boyfriend. Amar went above & beyond to attend to our every need....he was amazing!!! That kind of customer service is so refreshing to find....well done Amar!!! Best Western is very blessed to have you on their team! Stay safe Gail
Arrival - check in was great. The room had a bad odor, luckily I had Lysol due to Covid and gave it a good spray. Left for several hours. Upon returning discovered several (approx 5 large) spiders on the ceiling. After removing them, found a large bug in the bathroom...DONE.. Moved to the room door, it was inspected by the front desk person.. my assumption clean. Well 50/50, no odor, lots of spiders. I removed them and went to sleep in a bed, surprisingly comfortable. Exterior could also use a good sweep, lots of bugs on railings going upstairs.
normally the rooms here are great but this trip we stayed in the main building on the older lower section. I always stay at this hotel when in the area and have brought my family there several times over the last 25 years. Next time I will ask for a room on a different level, never had a problem but this time around the room was clean and everything was ok but the room looked really dated and unappealing.
The staff were friendly and helpful, but that did makeup for this aging building and it facilities. Pool area dark and dingy, several pool tiles broken or missing, hot tub are need some repair as well. Ear wigs in the pool area and in our bathroom were not a pleasant site. A/C unit needed some repair and there are no usb charging ports in the room.
You with think with occupancy being lower that the rooms would be clean. Well - mine wasn't. My room was not only dirty, but it was in very poor condition. The lamp shade was filthy and the towel rack appears to have been torn out of the wall and never replaced (see attached photes. The floors were laminate, and rotten dirty. I try to give credit where it is due so will list the positives: -Delicious breakfast delivered to our door in the morning since the restaurant was closed -The lobby was well kept and clean (why not extend to guest rooms??) -The bed was comfortable I was in one of the outside, drive up units so not sure if the rooms in the actual hotel building are nicer and cleaner. I was going to bring up the issues at checkout but the young lady didn't even ask how the stay was and moved on to the person behind me as soon as she said I'd receive my e-mail receipt. Really not happy. I'm not picky, but really dislike a dirty room. So disappointing. Hopefully I don't get the simple canned reply I see to other reviews how 'my comments will be used as training'.
Upon arrival our room was not clean. Debris on floor. If I could give restaurant service lower than a 1 I would. Most electrical outlets did not work. Our bed were poorly made.....sheets hanging out, etc. I would never recommend or return.
This was a one night business stay. Our room was on the first floor so we had a door on the inside corridor and a door to the outside. The room had a peculiar smell. If I had to guess I suspect this room has had pets stay overnight. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. Would ask for a room on another floor if we were to stay there again.
I wish I could give a higher rate than 10 for this hotel and staff - we had been travelling for many hours and were very tired. When we arrived, Brenda was so kind and helpful and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The room was very clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again if in the area and would recommend it to anyone.
Great staff. Front desk gave us a warm welcome, and proved to be real trouble-shooters with a bad reservation mixup. Restaurant staff paid attention to us and got our orders right and fast! On top of that the food was delicious.
On my recent drive in January from Halifax to Cape Breton I encountered “white out” driving conditions forcing me off the highway in Truro. I checked into the hotel around noon and was greeted by a nice lady on the desk who found me a favourable room rate. Staff was helpful and catered to my needs when I discover I had left my personal hygiene products at the last hotel. The special at the restaurant that evening was a Cesar salad with lasagna which was delicious. Great experience in my time of need.
Spent day at the Glengarry/Best Western for a conference. Great meal in the restaurant. Food was tasty and service was good. Facility was good, decor pleasant. I had the chowder for lunch. It was very good. Attended a banquet in the evening and had the turkey dinner, with salad to start and cheesecake for dessert. Our large crowd was served quickly and the food was hot when it arrived. Well done.
I have stayed here several times. They are recently under new ownership. The new owners have made some nice changes. We always stay in one of the 3 suites. The fireplace in 126 does not blow heat, that was my only complaint. Overall it is a great place to stay. Staff are very helpful for our converence we had. Carmella at the front desk is the best!!!!!!!
Love this hotel and all its amenities. WE used the hot tub and pool, both were very clean. Rooms are tastefully decorated. Service in the restaurant is very slow, food mediocre. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms are nice and clean and everything in the room worked well. Wifi here is pretty good and the grounds are well kept.
The Hotel Staff is beyond great. The Staff was fast/friendly, both during check-in & check-out. The room was spacious & clean. The location was perfect for the venue that we attended that evening. The meal provided at the venue was really great. What I liked best was the sleep quality after the venue was over & the breakfast the next day. Highly Recommend Best Western/Glengarry in Truro.
I enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was updated. The breakfast was good - a variety of foods to choose from - cereal, eggs, muffins, waffles, fruit, bread etc. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Truro.
I stayed here since I was attending a conference being held at the hotel. It was convenient but that was it. It is an old hotel and the room I was in certainly showed it. The room was not well cleaned, the bed linens were thin and poor quality, furnishings were showing their age and there was no business desk to work at ; just a small table and a chair that was not adjustable. As well, the room I was placed in was an outside drive up room. Upon realizing this I asked to be moved into the main hotel but was told there was no space. I indicated if space became available I would move as I was staying there for 3 nights. I know that space became available ( a co-worker did a last minute booking the next day and was given an inside room) but no one notified me that I could move. I would not stay here again or recommend the hotel to others.
spent two nights attending a conference, breakfast was good, decent variety of items to choose from. The restaurant food was decent but did take awhile to receive. The lounge area was nice, service was good along with the food.
An older facility but very well kept and with a nice restaurant, bar, and convention facilities. My interactions with any of the staff there were very positive. I enjoyed my stay there and will be back.
Although the Best Western is not on top of my list when it comes to my hotel choices in Truro, I still decided to give it a try when I had the chance to. To be fair, the hotel seemed rather unimpressive appearence wise when I arrived. Lobby was slightly better, but I did not spend long in it nor did I really pay attention. Check in was great, I quite enjoyed chatting with the older lady that helped me at the front desk. My room was spacious and functional, although bland at the same time, just as expected. I also enjoyed the breakfast the next morning, although I can't work out why it is made to order only instead of a buffet, but I shall not complain as it was quite delicious beyond the regular buffet food. Some problems that made me give a 2/5 - I was thrown off a little bit when I see the lady wrote down all my credit card information on my registration card at check in - I'm in no place to judge if this is the best practice business wise, which I don't think it is, but considering that all my personal and credit card information is now recorded in an unencrypted manner on the same page, and that I have not witnessed this in my past experience, I feel that there are changes to be made here. Also there seemed to be no real benefits of being Diamond Select minus the water bottles, as I was not offered an upgrade or a late check-out even when I asked for it. Regardless of all the nice aspects I experienced at the Glengarry, I‘m intrigued to find out if their credit card procedure is changing. If not, I would not consider returning.
clean rooms comfortable beds friendly, helpful staff Excellent food - buffet breakfast Good location parking spaces can be difficult to find great meeting rooms easy to book reservations at the hotel good rates
Overall we enjoyed our stay at this older hotel that has been kept up. We enjoyed the pool. It has a true deep end, and a hot tub which seems to be a rarity in the Maritimes. At their full service restaurant, they have the friendliest staff ever! Lighting levels in hotel rooms seem in general hard to get right, but here they did get it right, bright without glare, lots of lamps. The hallways sadly seemed dated and dim, and the lighting in the pool area could have been brighter. Many of the rooms on the main floor have both an exterior and interior door, which was convenient for us.
I loved the food served at the conference I attended the past 2 days. I was very happy with the lunches, banquet meal and nutrition breaks. The entertainment was amazing. Everyone there had a great time !! Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Slept amazing !! Very comfy bed and chair in my room.
Group of Crown Jewels mainly from the Maritimes and a few from Ontario and Quebec spent a week end of fun at the Best Western in Truro NS. The staff met all requests ask of them and it helped make the week end run smoothly.
The staff is terrific and the facility is just what I needed. Convenient location off the main highway, but perfectly quiet. Great value, great room, and relaxing bar. Check-in/out was fast and easy; I highly recommend BW Truro.
Only 60 km from airport. An older well maintained hotel nice grounds. Much better value for dollars spent than anything at airport. Leisurely drive to take flight from Stanfield Airport. A lot to see in the area as compared to just going to airport hotel and sitting around. Will stay there again when back in Nova Scotia. A combination business /family trip.
We stopped overnight at this facility and were not disappointed. Clean and welcoming with a nice restaurant. Price point was great too for the quality. We would certainly stay here again if we are ever in the area.
I am a frequent guest of the Best Western Glengarry in Truro and have always found the staff friendly and helpful. Their breakfast buffet has quite a few options and having an on-site restaurant is a time saver.
We had a single night stay here. The room was lovely, large and clean and the beds were fantastic - I'd give them a 5/5 star review for this BUT the restaurant really lets them down. The service was atrocious and the food average. The tables are sticky and the staff spent most of their time chatting in a sort of alcove.
The room rate is reasonable and the service is very good also. The rooms are very clean and the staff very friendly. I did not take advantage of the pool as I didn't have time. The food was good and the restaurant staff friendly also.
We decided last minute to stay in Truro and initially stopped at a hotel right off the highway but decided it was not close enough to restaurants or have the amenities we wanted. Called the Best Western and reception was able to quote me an excellent price. We were so pleasantly surprised at the outdoor pool/patio set up with the nice sun lounger chairs where we spent the afternoon and the indoor pool and hot tub provided for a relaxing evening as well. We were able to walk to a restaurant for dinner. Breakfast was provided, with the option of buffet or menu items. We chose buffet but the eggs were not the greatest and only one meat at the time we were eating. We wished we tried the menu to ensure it was fresh and hot! Overall a great experience!
Staff at front desk is very friendly and room was very clean . Breakfast was very fresh. I have enjoyed in pool . Location of this hotel is very convenient. Restaurant and bar have lots of choices to eat. Bar area is very clean.
Loved this place. Stayed at a different hotel every night for 8 consecutive nights and this was our favourite. Really enjoyed the free breakfast buffet and the room was very clean. Would definitely recommend!!
A few of us rented a room for the weekend because there was a near by concert. Everything went fine the first night but the second day we noticed a lot of water that kept appearing on our bathroom floor. We were getting ready to leave for the concert for the night so we called down to the front desk to let them know of the issue as we noticed it was coming out of the toilet. They sent someone down right away and he looked it over and said they would have to call someone else in to fix it because it was more than what they could do. After he left the front desk called our room and wanted to move us to a king room but we needed two beds so they said they would have to get someone to come fix it hopefully while we were away. We got back to the hotel at 12:30 a.m. and I went to see if the toilet in our room had been fixed. It looked like it hadn't even been touched. I called down to the front desk and asked if the issue had been fixed and the man working the front desk said he would send someone up to look at it. After 5 minutes of going back and fourth with me trying to tell him someone had already looked at it and if he sends someone else up they were just going to say the same thing, I finally just told him sure send them up. A worker came up and took a look he said there was absolutely no way we could stay in this room so we would have to move. I asked how a room was available now with two beds when earlier at 7:00 there was only one king room left. He went down to look and the room was a king room. So for the night we had to stay in one room and get up and walk down to this other room to use the washroom. To top it all off while we are trying to figure out what to do to make this work the woman staying next to us opened her door and rudely told us we need to keep it down. This wouldn't have been an issue if this problem was dealt with when I called the front desk the first time at 7:00. Obviously whoever was working the front desk the first time I called just left their shift and did nothing more to solve our problem as the man working night shift didn't seem to even know about it. The maintenance guys were very nice and the only ones that seemed to want to help us out any. We were enjoying ourselves up until we were trying to switch rooms at 12:30 a.m. When we checked out they did give us a free night stay for two people to use but it can only be used at used at that hotel. In my opinion I think they just should have taken it off our stay this time.
After spending the day driving, it was wonderful to have both an outdoor and indoor pool for our 11 year old to use up some energy in. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and they had a veggie burger with a gluten free option. Check in was excellent. The front desk employee happily answered our questions about the town. The room had been updated and was clean with a view of the beautiful courtyard with gardens and pool.
Easy access close to amenities. Polite staff. Clean friendly. Helpful. That says it all. It is late and I am tired. I like your motel for all the above reasons he necessity of two hundred characters is stupid. I sat a lot with just s few words. I see no sencse in going on and on. Please revise that requirement
We chose this place as it included breakfast and had two pools. Our family stayed two nights. We were impressed with the indoor pool and hot tub. The outdoor pool was down for maintenance which was understandable. The hot breakfast was great. Servers were very attentive and friendly. The beds were super comfortable and we found our room clean. One negative was I noticed my credit card was charged more than what we were promised before we even checked out. I addressed my concerns with the front desk staff and they explained it was for incidentals and I would not be charged the extra amount of $60 a few days after I check out. I was not charged but I would have preferred to have known about this once I made the reservation. I recommend this as a good place to stay for the price compared to other places in the area. We enjoyed our stay!
Spent two nights at the hotel. Too bad the outdoor pool was being cleaned. We were able to use the loungers outside though. This was great to relax after a day of sight-seeing. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating to our needs, we got maps of the area from them, were able to change bills, get restaurant and shopping recommendations. Room was comfortable. Lots of towels. Not a lot of plug-ins though. A bit of a challenge to charge devices but we managed. WiFi was great in all areas of the hotel. The free breakfast was more than adequate to keep us going for the day. It was also a good location, hard to find at first, but then after that realized easy to get to.
This was a lovely hotel, very nice front desk staff, good location for the town, and amazing breakfast. The rooms were very nice and would stay there again if I am in this area at another time.Good place.
Wish I could give a zero rating! The only good thing about this extremely over priced hotel is the 2 pools. 150+ tax for a 5 hour stay in a musty motel room(theres a main building and outside rooms that people can live in and such) that obviously hadn't been cleaned properly (pubic hair in the shower, and soap dish) peoples clothing hung up in the closet, is a tad bit ridiculous but it is what it is. And as for the front desk manager (Carmella), I have (thankfully) never experienced such terrible customer service in my life. She was extremely rude, condescending, arrogant, and combative. From reading these reviews, she must save her customer service skills for when shes giving her buddies deals. Best western your better than this! Send that women for some proper training in both customer relations and best western policies! As a diamond select member I frequent a lot of best westerns all over our country and never had a complaint but I will not be returning to this one which is unfortunate because with a little TLC and a new friendly face at the desk it could be a great location!
We stayed 2 nights end of july We had an outside room , it was clean and ok The outdoor pool was close to our room We had dinner in the Restaurant in Hotel , enjoyed it so much we went back for dinner the 2nd night , could use a few more chairs outfront of rooms located outside ..only thing I didnt like about our stay was when we got to our room their was a Corona bottle half drank sitting in our window ledge ..i notified front desk an they sent housekeeper to apologize ..for the amt we paid for our room think atleast a discount off our room or dinner
Our stay was awesome - The staff at this hotel goes above and beyond any other hotel I have stayed at and I do travel a lot - They are very helpful , friendly and ready and willing to do anything to make your stay enjoyable - The hotel is nice , clean and bright - The breakfast included with the stay has so many choices , you will definitely find something you like....Carmela who works at the front desk is a gem and really made us all feel like we were home away from home. The cleaning staff were some of the nicest people I have come across in a long time - I could go on and on about this hotel because there are so many positives to list - NO NEGATIVES AT ALL - We have already booked to stay again next year - Thank you once again BEST WESTERN GLENGARRY for making our vacation memorable
This visit was extremely disappointing. From a guest's POV, the majority of this hotel's policies protect the hotel and assume guests are thieves. - At 3:30am, the day we would arrive, the full two days $304 was charged to my CC, 17 hours before we would arrive. I don't like paying for service which I have not even used yet. - Check-In would have been quick and simple, but the front desk charged an additional $100 "for incidentals" to my CC. The front desk staff ruined any positive vibe when they derided the membership gift bag of water that was provided. - Counting specific coupons, with dates for the advertised "free breakfast", and a coupon for 10% off dinner. If we forget the coupons in our room, the wait staff almost expected us to pay full price. *** The above points set the tone for the remainder of our visit. *** - The pools: ** are not accessible for people with disabilities / mobility concerns ** towels are hidden behind the front desk, no signs posted informing guests if towels are available. ** front desk MUST buzz guests into the pool. Not a very inviting experience. ** when the front desk is busy with check-ins, there are long delays for using the pool (buzzed in) or receiving a towel. ** the indoor pool was clean, deep (3 to 9 feet) and great for swimming exercise. - We noticed an obvious dank, musty smell throughout the hallways that also permeated our room. There was no option to resolve this concern. - The room doors are swollen and stick to the door frame. Multiple guest rooms discussed this problem. We had to kick the bottom corner of the door, after swiping our key card to get the door open. - The "free" breakfast at the restaurant was so terrible, we didn't bother returning the second day. We did attempt supper twice, the first day offered burnt appetiser and basic main course. Our second supper was terrible. The BBQ sauce was used so liberally, the taste drowned whatever was below the sauce. We couldn't finish the meal. We have no desire to return to this location of Best Western. Not worth the value or price paid.
Our party of three stayed here for a night on July 27th, 2019. The outdoor pool and bar really make this hotel stand out...the service was fast and friendly and the pool was refreshing to cool off in during the the hot day. Our room was spacious and very clean, and was ready early to our delight! We ate dinner at the onsite restaurant and truly enjoyed all of our meal. The included breakfast in the morning was good, and check out was a breeze. I will return to this hotel when in the Truro area and will highly recommend it as well to anyone who is staying in the area. Well done Best Western!!
We were on a motorcycle trip of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland when we were caught in a torrid downpour, after taking refuge at a Tim Hortons we booked two rooms at the Best Western Truro. When we arrived, we were soaked, the staff met us with towels to dry ourselves and our bikes. They also dried our wet clothing, gave us a small space heater to help dry our boots. The onsite restaurant provided a great meal and hot coffee. The entire staff from the front desk staff, housekeeping, maintenance and restuarant wait staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable, and help us dry out. The hotel itself is very clean and our rooms were comfortable and very clean. This is a good hotel with a fantastic staff. I would highly recommend it to anyone!
beautiful clean rooms nice entery from hotel and from outside to our room. loved the out door lounging area and its pool. comfortable bed and seating. no microwave. the included breakfast was great. different to have the option of a prepared or buffet. we had the buffet and enjoyed it. will absolutely be going again
All of the staff was especially friendly here, especially Carmella! I will definitely be returning to this location and it's primary due to her. The amenities were well maintained and I really appreciated the hot tub after the flight and long drive.
Front desk staff and house keeping staff were excellent , they were smiling and greeting everyone Wifi was very fast Rooms were very clean and breakfast had lots of choices. Kids were enjoying in indoor pool and outdoor pool. We were very satisfied staying in this hotel
Customer Service is not their strong suit. Wanted a three day booking. They booked for two, supplied confirmation only after repeated requests, never did give an amount until check out. Three emails and two phone did not alter their obstinate incompetence. Never once did they apologize. On the second day there the front desk called to ask what time we would be checking out. The whole thing was baffling. Restaurant was used for convenience. Breakfast is not their strong suit. Buffet is limited and the table coverings were not changed. Pan fried potatoes were dry and tasteless. Toast spreads were kept in dollar store storage boxes. Peanut butter was mixed in with the rest easily allowing for contamination. Wait staff for the most part did their jobs. Two servers stood out as needing better management; a waitress who hovered, asking repeatedly if we were finished in a near empty dining room; man with his hands in his pockets or scratching his head. One dinner entree had to be returned. I cannot remember the last time I did that. It did not resemble any Mac'and Cheese I know but was curly noodles swimming in an orange sauce. It was utterly tasteless. Over all the hotel needs upgrades. The halls and elevator need a deep clean. The carpets need a vacuum. Did not see a vacuum while we were there. Rooms are stuffed with over size furniture. There is little room to move around. There were two luggage racks in the closet; unusable because there was no room to set them up.
As Chair of the Committee that held our annual fundraising Gala for our local Food Bank at the hotel. Our evening was the success it was - due in large part - to the wonderful attention to detail the entire staff of the Glengarry has to its customers. Both days we were at the venue, we ate at the on site restaurant and the food and service was stellar. Grab your friends and head down to experience their treatment first hand. You will love being treated ‘like family'! We know we do and that's why we return year after year professionally. And week after week personally!
So we spent the weekend here as we travelled up to run a race. I'll explain the average rating. Service is above average, property is below average. Bathroom door wouldn't close unless you slammed it as it appeared to be warped, noticed the vent cover on heater in the bathroom missing. Cover on Air Conditioner fell off as soon as I touched it and I noticed it had been held on with duct tape, called to have it looked at, maintenance guy said they have issues getting new covers for old air conditioners and basically duct taped it back on. Wasn't a fan of the outdoor pool as it is open to the public so it was always busy and a bit loud. We used the indoor pool, which was good. Other issue was that a couple of the towels we got for the pool were fraying at the edges and threadbare, I would have thrown them out at home.
We recently hosted a 4 day convention at the Glengarry for over 100 people. The staff and facilities were exactly what we needed. The staff went above and beyond to meet our needs for the meeting rooms, food requirements (especially with a number of dietary concerns) and treating all of our delegates like VIPs. We will definitely book more conventions here, and highly recommend!
Very easy hotel to find and well located. Our room was clean and spacious, and we were pleasantly surprised to have a sit down breakfast included in the rate. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Easy access on and off highways.
Travelling around Nova Scotia. Best Western Glengarry deserves it's name. Arrived tired and weary. Reception helpful and room ready straight away. Given breakfast vouchers as part of the deal and 10% discount voucher for arrival dinner. Different ‘Special on every night'. Excellent food good value. All staff delightful and charming. Advised of places of interesr providing map without asking. Thank You
Hotel and room were nice and well kept. Located in a nice neighbouhood, afording a nice stroll after diner to see some fine homes and center of town with a farmers market. Hotel has a restaurant with a good selection. Local diners near by.
There were many ants in my room. On the bedside table, underneath my suitcase, underneath hotels phone, on the floor. I was on the second floor. I will not be returning to this location in the future!
We spent one night in this hotel, very nice I did not get to use indoor pool and hot tub but other family did , they were very pleased. Breakfast was wonderful very clean hotel Highly recommended . Great location easy to find . Parking stalls very small Front desk staff very efficient
A group of 21 of us stayed here for a weekend convention. Everything was wonderful right from the making of the reservations several months ago to our final check out. Stayed 2 nights. We were all put in the same area. Rooms were large, clean and well equipped. Continental hot breakfast was given at a premium price if purchased upon check in. Beautiful hotel with many meeting rooms, large sitting areas, pool and fitness centre. Great location. Will definitely stay here again next year.
We stay here every time we are in town and are treated like family. They find time to talk and welcome you and are there to help when ever they are needed. The staff is what brings us back time and time.s
Was staying here for business and booked two nights. The room was in the separate building set up like a motel and I thought I was staying in the hotel. The temperature could not be regulated, air conditioner too loud, the pillows were awful...very old!! The curtains did not black out the light from the window so it was bright in my room all night. Could not sleep. Some of the dirty towels were also not replaced! I asked to change rooms to the actual hotel section and they were booked. I asked for my money back for the second night and that was not possible because I didn't provide them 24 hour notice. I was given the name and contact number of a manager that I just got voicemail but wasn't sure it the manager's voicemail because there was no name or message on it. I have never ever asked to cancel a night due to an unacceptable room...but I needed sleep! I was very disappointed in the service and had planned on staying an additional 4 nights in the next 2 months for business. I'm not used to only 5 star hotels etc....this was not a cheaply priced hotel! Very disappointed and will never stay here again! Oh and the smell of cannabis was pungent...not nice at all!!
What a great hotel:)...we've been staying here a lot this winter and I couldn't give it any higher rating (I wish I could). From the second you walk in the door until you leave, the entire staff are constantly making strides to ensure you have a relaxing stay. I hope you choose here if you stay in Truro, you'll be pleased I'm certain. (Hot tub and pool is super awesome)
Great location, close to family The staff who checked us in were very friendly, helpful and very efficient Excellent dining room.......great breakfast choices......and great service The rooms were well maintained and very comfortable Enjoyed the pool
Booked for two night getaway - older property, nice pool/hot tub area. Rooms nicely appointed but small bathroom and few cleanliness issues, fan not working. Quiet, great restaurant/lounge and complimentary hot breakfast in dining room is a nice plus. Not the best BW I've stayed at but good value for $$. Would book again.
Rooms were nice and clean, convention space is large and clean and staff was very friendly and accommodating to needs, definitely a great spot for large events and would recommend to other groups for parties and conventions
Stayed with a large group that booked out the entire hotel. Staff were very accommodating. Rooms were comfortable. We stayed in the back section but it was clean and quiet. Rooms in the main hotel were nicer
This hotel is a calm relaxing place. People at the front desk are on for you when needed. The pub is a causy place and food was good. People at the hotel are very knowledgable on things to visit and very helpful in proposing things to do. Nothing bad to say on any of them.
good experience , comfortable stay , breakfast was good , bar lounge was good, internet connection good , rooms were clean , front desk was helpful , friendly people , check in and out was quick , swimming pool was clean and kids friendly .
Food and drinks were good however jolene put it over the top with her fun attitude and over all hgreat smile and demeanour. I will definetly be back again with all the laughs and positivity shared. Thank you jolene!
Front desk staff was very nice and quick. Fantastic service we got when we arrived. Room was very clean. Breakfast buffet was perfect. Kids enjoyed in hot water pool. We enjoyed our meal at lunch and dinner in this hotel's restaurant.
First time staying here and won't be the last. Booked in with my sons hockey team for a Tournament, price was great, staff was friendly and knowledgeable, restaurant was clean and food was delicious and rooms were clean and nice. We also booked a conference room for a team pizza party while there and bought the pizzas from the restaurant. Pizzas were great, staff couldn't do enough for us. Highly recommend staying here when in Truro for work or pleasure as its location is centralized. Thank you staff at Best Western Glengarry for all you did for our team's stay with you, you all were phenomenal!
We arrived at this hotel with two children at approximatly 9:20 to find hotel computers down and a completely inconvenienced manager. She not only spoke to the customers ignorantly, but treated her staff as if they were peasents beneath her. I have never in my life seen a manager show such disrespect. Everytime a staff member would speak or try to help in any way, she rudely responded with a nasty comment. There were probably 20-30 people in the lobby waiting for rooms that evening. The only respect they got was from the front desk staff who were walking on eggshells. When the manager was told by not one but two parents she could tone down her attitude and speak to everyone qith reapect. She rolled her eyes and ignored the parents. No apology, no compensation. We, along with many others will never use this hotel again! I think the manager needs a few anger management sessions and perhaps be spoken to about how to properly treat staff. To the wonderful people at the front desk, be proud!! You smiled throughout the whole process and treated your guest how they should have been. To the hotel manager, shame on you!
During a very recent stay with my 9 year daughter, friend and her 8 year old daughter we discovered along with many other families with girls staying for the cheerleading event that there was also a ‘swingers convention' going on at the same time. This we felt was a complete lack of consideration to us as we should have been informed so we could have made other arrangement the other club should have been given a different weekend. There was sexual actin the hot tub and pool room as well as various other places around the hotel! While the rooms were comfortably and clean the stay wasn't as relaxing as it should have been
Very clean hotel-restaurant good, staff friendly and helpful. Location is great easy to get in and out and close to downtown shopping, etc. We stay here when we are in the Truro area and have always been satisfied. They even helped us celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary in 2017 and have been a special part of gatherings over the years. NIce home away from home.
I enjoyed my stay at the Best Western Glengarry in Truro as I have on occasion's over many years. Carmella and Sandy at the front desk have been a very welcoming mean stay and make an excellent welcome when you arrive at the facility.
The folks at the front desk and restaurant we very pleasant but the hotel is really very worn down and needs an update. There is also no on site gym and while they offered me a pass to the gym across the street it's only open 7am-7pm and it was freezing outside.
This being an older updated holiday didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. Everything updated.Rooms are clean and beds really comfortable. Staff at front desk were very helpful. Will definitely recommend to others and will return.
We held a surprise birthday dinner at the Glengarry and had a really great experience. From the planning through to the surprise, the staff, especially Carl and Connie, were exceptional and anticipated all our needs. The private dining room was cozy and the servers were attentive and quick. Would definitely recommend for a dinner party or similar function. Thanks!
First off it was a super busy weekend for them. My meals were great. The service all around was great. But the 4am wake up call cause some idiot set off the alarms made it a bit stressful. But none the less I'll stay again... I did find the beds really hard!
Went there for a business trip. Rooms were dated a bit but very clean. Didnt try the interior pool, the small bar closed at 11pm. Restaurant offered decent breakfast but not huge choice here. Staff were very kind also. Room noise insulation is average except that you have a direct door to access outside which is very handy. Overall its a clean hotel / motel with awesome staff. Could go there again :)
Good location near grocery stores and restaurants. Helpful and friendly staff. Restaurant has good breakfasts and dinners. Clean rooms with good amenities. Indoor pool with hot tub and outdoor pool with bar service.
We arrived and were surprised that there were only 3 rooms available at 2:30 on a Monday. Apparently this Best Western is a hub of conventions and other events. Our room was very nice, clean and comfortable and amazingly- a tv control that didn't take an advanced degree to operate. We had supper in the hotel resturant and it was adequate with excellant service. The next morning, the 7am breakfast was very decent and included with the room, and again the servers were very hard working and deserving of our gratuity.
We ended up here because another hotel was booked. The room was dated but thats neither here or there. The beds were comfy and appeared cleaned. The housekeeping did overlook crooks and crannies as there was a spider who had taken up residence with a baby sack in the corner of the ceiling. We made staff aware of missed area. Breakfast was ok. Bar closed at 11 and we were unable to get a drink even though there were 2 people sitting at a table and the barmaid was still there. It was 11:05
Dated hotel and conference centre. 1 km from downtown. Lounge bar not open on a Sunday. Ok for staying one night on a tour of Nova Scotia. However the food was surprisingly good, basic menu but both fish and chips and burger main meals cooked very well, as were the breakfasts.
My room was noisy, not the cleanest, bugs in the sink and hairdryer did not work. Disappointing as Best Western is normally a good brand to stay at. Staff were slow to address the issue with my hairdryer (waited 15 minutes and had to call the front desk twice to get a working one.)
Greeted by friendly staff that remembered me! Clean well appointed room, great restaurant, Quiet room, Great location close to main highway and also in town.. just what I expected from a Best Western.
We flew into Halifax and were going to PEI but the timing was not good to make the trip in one day comfortably so we stopped here. Being an elite member, the service was great and we received the goodie bag. The room was comfortable but the wooden floors make the sliding office chair a little treacherous, Show was beautiful. We ate dinner in the bar which has the same menu as the dining room. Very good fish and chips - fresh as would be expected. Since it was the blueberry festival time we enjoyed the delightful blueberry cake with blueberry sauce for dessert. Next morning we were offered a hot and cold buffet or the menu for breakfast. That was delicious and since it was included in our room, the price was very right. I'd stay here again.
Our Sessions were held at this hotel in July 2019. There was a mix up in my room reservation when I arrived, but the staff at the front desk worked very hard to make it right. I was given a room upstairs and if someone cancelled then I could have there room, which happened, but I didn't have to move from my room. One of our members had a death in the family while we were there and the staff was so attentive and helped us out by giving us the kitchen dining area to gather and provided us with coffee. They were so accommodating to us, went out of their way to help us. I spent 5 days there. They set up for our sessions and everything was done and we were very satisfied. They have a restaurant in the hotel and they were very professional with the banquet and serving us meals. I would highly recommend this hotel for conventions, and the rooms were very clean and comfortable beds. The food delicious. I will be returning.
Room was not ready at check in. 30 minute wait in the lobby. Would have been nice to have been compensated. No TV guide channel on TV. It was a bit noisy. Friendly staff. Great location. Very clean. Good amenities.
I enjoyed my stay here. The staff were friendly and the restaurant serves great food. The room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom was outfitted for my disability and the staff also asked if I needed anything else. When I mentioned a bath chair, they brought one right up to me.
We were a small group of nursing graduates searching for a venue to gather for a 45 year reunion. The Glengarry was the only establishment of the many I communicated with that allowed individuals to pay for their meals individually without an 'upfront' deposit. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms and included breakfast were as expected. We wanted a spot where we could chat and reminisce and a small private dining room was made available. If you are searching for a hotel to hold an event I would absolutely recommend the Glengarry.
My reunion was held here on August 17-19 this year. We booked a double room with queen beds. I found it very small, and the beds were dressed well although who wants a duvet in the summer? The staff was great, friendly and helpful. The shower was super So, disappointed with the tiny room it's not suitable for two people. Secondly, the breakfast was not good, scrambled eggs should be made in house, no bacon, ham was difficult to cut it was so dry. Fruit salad again should use fresh fruit. I felt like I was at one of those inexpensive continental breakfast places.... it was advertised as a hot breakfast...... cooked to order? I wonder. The Best Western in Bridgewater might give you some pointers, I remember there's as being much better To sum up, a great week end at a well planned reunion but not great accommodations or breakfast
Hi, the stay was average since the hotel was filled and loud with people due to a swim meet and business meetings going on that week. The night staff gentleman was very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was excellent. The street is good because there are several nearby restaurants.
I ate with a few of my friends at the restaurant while in town and the waitress Erica gave us great recommendations where to site see and was a lovely girl to speak with! Love the food at the service!
Stayed one night with friends and kids. The room was on the main level so we had direct access to the outdoor pool. Kids also loved the indoor pool and hot tub. We ate at the restaurant and it was delicious. We were a large group and the waitress was very friendly and we received our food quickly. Highly recommend staying here with or without children.
Family and swimmers and supporters of the GB team stayed here for a week I found it a great hotel good outside area and pool, good food and tremendous staff who looked after us really well Thanks to them for our smashing time
Location little bit from interstate but worth it. Service was great, room clean, comfortable, hot water, great bed. Staff was super. I normally would have gave a poor review on smoke detectors beeping from 12-1am....but the staff was great. Wifi was good, breakfast. I would recommend.
WE had a great stay and the hotel catered to whatever we asked. Excellent Pools, Hot tub, Bar and surrounding areas restaurants, as well. IT was a great trip and will be returning gaining next year 2019 in July.
Our housekeeper met every request within minutes, the room was spotless and the front desk personnel most helpful! The conference room temperature could've been a bit warmer, but we were sitting still for quite a while. The coffee was superb and attendants most thorough.
WE traveled here June 16 with friends. Check in was a breeze, front desk staff very courteous and efficient. Room was very clean with a fridge and microwave. Our room had two exits, one to the hallway and the other to outdoor area by the outdoor pool. Did I mention this hotel has TWO pools? One outside and also an indoor one along with a super comfy hottub! Complimentary breakfast is offered at the very nice restaurant they have. Although this is an older hotel it is kept up very well and tastefully decorated. We would definitely consider returning here.
My mother checked in today after having an accident and the staff, Sandy, went above and beyond helping her. Showing the real people of Nova Scotia. Thank you Sandy, I recommend her for a promotion and I highly recommend the Best Western Truro - Glengarry.
Beautiful! Excellent motel experience! Incredible attention to detail with decoration and amenities in room! The dining room staff went out of their way for my breakfast When I was late and help me make it to my appointment by rushing my order and help me make it out in record time. Would definitely return!
I have stayed here many times since the 80's The staff and food have always been great. The rooms need upgrading. You have a great site, yet someone has to spend some cash. The employees are wonderful, I'm very impressed with that part.
We spent the week at this hotel for meetings, Kait and the staff were great! From serving hot meals, to refilling the water pitchers on the table, attending to special individual request, they did it all with a smile and no waiting!
Although the hotel was very busy this weekend the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Restaurant staff in particular went out of their way to provide good service. Beds were very comfortable, room clean and quiet
Stopped in for 1 night. Rooms quiet, bed comfortable. Breakfast buffet was good. Location seemed close to amenities. GPS brung us at the doorstep. Would consider staying here again on a future trip to NS.
If I could give this a 0 star I would. The service was absolutely terrible. We checked in at 4pm and the maid was still cleaning our room. Later my boyfriend and I were not expecting company when a staff member opened our door without knocking. Instead of closing the door as soon as she noticed us, she closed it slowly, staring at us the whole time. When we brought this horrible experience up to the front desk they did not do anything for us and treated it like it was not a huge violation of privacy. The next day at checkout they did not apologize for the event or offer us anything for our inconvenience. The whole experience was horrible and I warn people:DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL.
We went to the fundraiser dance for the Marigold on Jan. 27. The band was Asia Nu Gruv, who were tremendous. The staff at the bar were great, especially Caitlin and Jessica. We had a wonderful time and intend to go to the next dance on March 24.
Let's rename the Hotel “worst”-Best Western and get out of town. Like others we were relegated with no notice to the awful motel section. Earlier comments by management said they couldn't imagine how guests found themselves in such horrid circumstances. Ya right! There is no effort at all to clean up that place. Try to complain and you get the front desk staff (nice young man excluded — he tries) who cannot meet your eye and will try to roll their office chair out of your sight. Run away future guests!
As a commercial traveller this hotel has everything I'm looking for when it comes to the end of a long day. Friendly faces, good service and a clean comfortable room. This hotel is also great value for the amenities it has.
room was average, but spacious. Water pressure for toilet was an issue. Didn't bother with the shower given the other issues. Staff upon check-in was disorganised and rude (acted very put out that the room was on points). We were there for an event which tickets were purchased in advance...to be picked up at desk. Desk staff had to be repeatedly told that YES we are to get the tickets here. After the 3rd time "i dont see them, but they may be in the back" we had to force ask "well can you CHECK the back ?" . Staff was extremely put out that they had to look through reserved stack of tickets rather than have us come back again at our inconvenience. Had another issue with seating for the event in which reservations were under an incorrect spelling of name and table count was incorrect. When asked for the correct # of chairs we were told to get them ourselves after much haggling. Not good customer service.
We stayed here New Years Eve and really had a great time. Will be going back thats for sure. The staff was great .The rooms were clean and bed very comfortable.Pool was a bit cool and the pool area was not as warm as we would have liked but it was clean and we enjoyed the hot tub
If you stay in the winter with a pet you are sent to an out-building that is cold in the winter and not in the best shape. I was suppose to stay two nights but only lasted one. We booked this hotel because of the pool for our kids and the fact we were travelling with a 5 lbs dog. We ended up moving to another hotel.
My son and I transferred from out west to be closer to home. We had to wait about a month to gain possession of our house. We can not thank the Glengarry staff enough by making our transition back home so much easier. From the cleaning staff, the restaurant staff and especially the front desk crew, everyone was wonderful and always greeted us with a smile and a hello! I also watched them make other guests feel comfortable and go out of their way to accommodate. I would recommend anyone to stay here, especially if you're looking for sincere and genuine maritime hospitality! The Glengarry staff were wonderful, they even put a Christmas tree in our room and brightened our spirits! They were wonderful to my son as well, which made him feel special too! Truly made us feel welcomed and assured me in my decision that the maritimes is where I belong,...home!
I stay here for work when I come to town. The staff here are friendly and welcoming. Rooms are clean, beds are comfy. The lounge bar is a great place to unwind, Andrea is an awesome bartender. The restaurant staff are great, fantastic service. I would recommend staying at this hotel when in Truro.
Front desk manager demonstrated very poor customer service, and actually argued with us when we complained about the noise level of the hockey players situated around us at two in the morning. Other staff were ok to nice. However, you can expect better service at some of the other local hotels. Facilities are run down and the restaurant food very expensive for what you get. I will not stay here again.
Clean facilities. Professional and friendly staff. Price is very reasonable. Centrally located in the town which is near shopping and long term care facilities if that is why you are visiting. Hospital near by.
I stayed at the Best Western Glengarry November 27-29 for a conference. I stayed in one of the motel-style rooms which was a smoking room as the hotel was full. I am a non-smoker but I didn't find the room smelled of cigarette smoke. The venue was perfect, food was excellent, there is a cozy little bar and all the staff were fantastic!
Stay at this hotel a few times a year. Staff always friendly. Restaurant is airy and bright and welcoming . Food and service is always excellent. Also a good location. Cannot comment on the pool either outdoor or inside as I have never used it. Always see groups of local residents there which is always a good sign.
Stayed for one night and everything was great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and had a super comfy bed. They have a nice, hot, complementary breakfast, and free parking. I will definitely stay here again.
I have stayed at the Glengarry many times, attending a scrapbooking retreat in both the spring and fall. This visit was just as wonderful as previous visits....super comfy bed and clean room, quick and efficient staff on the front desk. Breakfast buffet is available but I always prefer to order because I love the corn beef hash. Lisa, our server in the dining room both mornings was fabulous! Even though it was super busy, our breakfast came in a timely manner and with a great smile. She started our days with a little bit of laughter and a great cup of coffee! On previous stays, the dining staff was hit or miss but Lisa scored a 10 with me! The only thing we didn't like about our stay were the smokers just outside the main doors, front and back. We had to walk through a wall of smoke on several occasions. The elevator is very small as well, but we often took the stairs.
The staff of the Best Western Glengarry Truro are all top shelf in my books. My only issue with the hotel is that the noise in the hallway in the evenings was very loud and I woke from my sleep on both nights due to doors opening and closing. Not much sound proofing on the doors!
We have stayed here many times and this is an excellent place to stay, great location. Would recommend this place to stay to anyone. Staff above and beyond and location is very central while travelling in Nova Scotia.
The Staff are very friendly and proffesional, Rooms are clean, comfortable and up to date. Good wifi. However they are overpriced for the area. The restaurand has low quality food and is definately overpriced
The room was very nice. It was very clean, the beds were extremely comfortable. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant, courteous and helpful. The breakfast was first class. When we checked in, we were very pleased when the receptionist said they had an even lower rate on the room than what we had been given. We were very impressed.
Great hotel With friendly staff . Clean & comfortable rooms . This hotel is in a good location. Food is delicious And resturant staff are always so helpful And friendly . Lots to do in Truro , a little something for all ages .
The entire stay was very good. Staff were polite and helpful. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Our dog was happy to be there with us. Breakfast was well presented and plentiful. A great place to stay in Truro.
Samantha at reception and Connie at the restaurant could not have been more friendly and helpful. It made the stay a totally comfortable event. They went out of their way to be helpful with the room and the turkey dinner plans.
checked in late, room nice, staff was helpful, restaurant handy, was a little tough to locate the hotel, good parking on site, small elevator, would stay here again if in Truro for a visit. nice hotel
I had the best sleep! I like a fairly soft bed to sleep on my side. This was perfect. And the pillows were just right too. Had the AC on high fan so blocked out any noise. We had top floor facing back so it was quiet area too. My husband used the indoor pool. The dinner in the restaurant was very good. I had the seafood casserole. Loaded with seafood. The hot breakfast buffet was very good too. The price was excellent for the value! I would stay here again! We were flying out of Halifax the next afternoon and it was an easy drive.
Excellent hotel with excellent service and very friendly staff. Everything was perfect during our stay. Hotel does not have a lot of amenities close by; however staff where able to recommend a restaurant delivery service. Being buzzed into the pool was a nuisance.
I was in the building for people traveling with dogs and was wondering where the 4+ star reviews were coming from. The main building may have been nicer and the pool and landscaping were nice, but I stayed in a dated room with vinyl floors. Beware the building!
I have been a loyal business-travel customer of Best Western for a number of years and stay many nights through the year at Best Western hotels in the Atlantic Provinces. The only time I don't stay at BW is if none in the area or they are full. I always travel at the Government rate. Just two weeks ago, I booked this Truro, NS, Glengarry hotel online and also received the Government rate. Today I tried to book by phone and was refused the Government rate because they say they haven't given it out all summer....even though I received it from them just 2 weeks ago and gave the clerk the details so she could look it up. This would have been my 3rd night in a Best Western just this week, and I am travelling on Gov business. Finally after speaking to her manager, she told me I could have the rate if I was alone ????? Although I told her that I will be travelling on official business - with a meeting in Truro - she refused to give the rate to me when I said my daughter will travel up from Halifax just to spend some time with me... so crazy. I have been alone at Best Westerns two other nights this week in NB. She couldn't care less that I am a Diamond club member - which shows my loyalty - and her couldn't-care-less attitude really sucked. I ended up not booking and found another hotel in the area. This incident combined with a couple other recent BW incidents has convinced me that it is time to find a new hotel chain.
Unbelievable stay at the BW Glengarry. We were a hockey team of 15 rooms for a two night stay. The staff at BW went above and beyond in many aspects of our stay - from laundry- to checkout - to conference room. Special thanks to Carmella and her crew.
after a very long day of travel, it was a treat to stay at this BW. Very clean, beautiful room (had a fireplace!) with good bed and nice size bathroom. The staff is very friendly, helpful with great ideas of things to do and see. Victoria Park was amazing and about 5 minute drive from hotel. The trails are beautiful and waterfalls!!! Right in the middle of the city!
Because we booked through a online service, we were placed in the old motel type section of the hotel, rather than the more modern main hotel complex. Front desk said other rooms were available but could not be offered to us because we booked online.
Always have a good experience at Best Western. Beds are comfortable, Price is reasonable and morning breakfast is a plus. The Staff is friendly and courteous and they give a good rate for a senior. I use the Best western for both Business and Pleasure and always have a great sleep
Nice hotel(we stayed in the main hotel),within walking distance to downtown shops and sights. Victoria Park is a nice visit. Room was clean and we'll outfitted. Front staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast included was very good. Has nice pools as well. Overall, would stay again and recommend as well.
we stay at this hotel on September 03,2017 and it was a awesome place the staff was very friendly and the food was great. IT had a indoor and out door pool, bar and a great restaurant. We were a group of bikes and we were treated very well ,
From the minute the reception staff greeted us to the minute we checked out, our stay was pleasant, comfortable and enjoyable. The location allows you to easily access the town's amenities. The acceptance of pets is greatly appreciated.
We stayed here as a stopover between Prince Edward Island and a flight from Halifax to Toronto and also because a friend lives in Truro so we could meet up. The hotel was clean and in good condition for the price (which was a very good rate). Breakfast was included but you were served presumably to guard against you taking too much .. interesting approach but I guess they must have learnt that they need to do this. The continental option was okay, juice, tea, cereal and toast. We used the indoor pool and it was big (a bit cold) and nearly our own for several hours as everybody else was using the outside one. We would stay here again if we are back in Truro.
Nine of us stayed here in 4 rooms on the way to Nova Scotia for a motorcycle trip. The rooms are clean and well furnished. Staff is friendly and helpful. Good menu selection in the restaurant. Restaurant service was very good considering the large group. Prime rib on Friday was very good, ample portion, and reasonably priced. Would stay here again.
Very comfortable hotel, nice restaurant (altho we did have a waitress that didn't seem all to happy to be there). Unfortunately we got in late and didn't get to use all the amenities of the hotel or see the surrounding area. Would go back to check out the area again.
Room was old, but adequate and suited our needs as we were travelling with our dog. Wifi was slow and cut out frequently and I could not access it on my iPhone at all. Air conditioner blew warm air and controls were seemingly broken off. As it was warm we had an uncomfortable night.
The employees were very friendly and accommodating. The check in and checkout process was very efficient. It was the first time we had our dogs come on a trip with us and it was a great first experience with them at a hotel. Had the best breakfast I have had at a hotel so far...over all great hotel and would recommend a stay here if you are ever in the Truro area.

I am very disappointed in the service which was provided to me by your hotel during my recent stay and have therefore decided to change my location of reservation for any further stays. Over the past 2-3 year period, the service which I received from your hotel was well below my expectations and in saying so, I regret to inform your organization that I will seek other businesses like yours for future stays.
If you are looking for a comfy place to stay this is the one. Reasonably priced, wonderful staff, 2 pools, and more. My only complaint was the inability to connect my Netflix to the tv or request/buy movies.
The room was very clean, the bed super comfortable, and was happy to be able to open the window for breeze of fresh air. Also a nice view of the outdoor pool area and gardens, which are well maintained. The breakfast options were plentiful and the buffet each morning made it quick and easy. The hotel is also well located for easy access to the highway and downtown.
Very comfortable hotel with large rooms and new, memory foam mattresses. I didn't want to get up! There is a lovely outdoor pool in a sheltered internal courtyard area and a heated indoor pool with jacuzzi.
We stayed 8 nights at the Best Western Truro-Glengarry in Nova Scotia. I booked 2 rooms for my family and we had a great experience. The hot breakfast was great each morning. The staff were very nice and helpful.
The restaurant was a poor dinner choice. Breakfast was ok but not a place for dinner. The service was pleasant and efficient but the food was a disappointment- overlooked and bland. I would not recommend the restaurant for dinner. Boston Pizza is near the hotel and it would definitely be a better choice.
Arrived quite late. Check in was smooth once we were able to be served. There was a customer ahead that took quite some time to sort out their issues. With one person on the desk, this made for a bit of a wait at 11:30pm. Lobby was bright, modern and clean. Beds were very comfy. Breakfast was quite good and included in room rate.
The beds were incredible and the pools were perfect. Didn't want to leave felt like we were down south! Breakfast wasn't so great but everything else made up for it by far. Great location minutes from Jacobs ladder!
We booked a night using Expedia. When I entered our children's ages as 15 and 12 the price increased, which made sense to me as our 15 year old is sometimes charged as an adult. Upon arrival, I was told by a young man at the deskthat I should have booked 3 adults, 1 child. I explained that I had put in the ages and the price had increased. Another young lady at the desk said it was okay then. I signed the agreement that I had already paid for the room with no extra charges indicated. The next morning, when checking out, I was told by an older lady that I owed $23 more to cover the costs of our kids. I tried to show her my Expedia confirmation but she was very rude, telling me it was my problem, that I should have called the hotel direcly and that I should call Expedia if I disagreed. She refused to look at my confirmation, and said that I owed for both kids still. I tried to get an explanation for why I had to pay for them again and she became veey agitated that I had indicated tbey were children which I had not. I asked why my 12 year old was also included as a adult now and she said to take it up with Expedia but I owed more money and she was charging my credit card. None of this was indicated the day before when I signed the room rate agreement. The impression I left with was that unless you book directly with this hotel, they are not interested in your business. I called Expedia and they called the hotel directly and the actually refunded the extra charges to my credit card. Still, it was a unpleasant end to our stay and I will not return.
The purpose of our trip was to offer comfort and support for our very good friends who had recently lost Arthur's father, who was 94 years old . Our stay at The Best Western Truro-Glengarry, Truro, Nova Scotia was pleasant ,staff were polite ,courteous and accommodating. The facility is centrally located, offering excellent ingress and egress from the Trans Canada highway. The building is of good appearance ,room was ample ,with excellent furnishings providing for a relaxing environment .Mary very much enjoyed the pool. We certainly enjoyed our visit and look forward to a repeat visit .We heartily recommend this purveyor of rest and relaxation and fine food when travelling
Nice place. Front desk staff person showed bad mood. I did not feel like asking them for anything. Sorry to be a bother; and I am a very quiet person with only one question. (Maybe keep pool open later as we really wanted to swim)
Really comfortable bed and pleasant airy room. Room was clean and the hotel was in a good location. Would stay again. Food was reasonably priced and it had a good choice. All areas were well maintained.
The hotel room was good, food was good but at check out the gentleman said two folks, two nights, with CAA, from Toronto for $110.00. I can do an override . The elderly lady sitting next to him said no, no creating an awkward situation at check out of silence. I should have argued but I didn't. The person in front of us got this rate. She charged us $125.00. So I have complained to BW and have heard nothing. Don't know what we did wrong to deserve the higher price. They didn't even inform us of the BW membership campaign they had on at the moment. Had to heard of it from another BW. Spent 7 nights with 3 different BW.The 3rd one signed us up.Boo on Truro. NOT the lowest prices as they advertise.
Very pleasant stay overall; pleasant and professional staff; reasonable cost; comfortable and clean rooms; excellent restaurant facility and very good choice of meals; convenient location; ample guest parking; premises well maintained.
Clean looking hotel with helpful and friendly staff. The front part of the hotel i has been modernized and is very attractive. The rooms are on par with other BW hotels and as expected, the bed and pillows were amazing. The room used a small widow air conditioner and the window was showing its age, gut all in all, a pleasant stay will good breakfast.
our friends had they room given away, our room was listed under my first name and my buddy's last name. When we went to eat , after clearing the table we waited 15 minutes before getting up to leave when our bills arrived. Hotel was not ready for a big crowd, and gave rooms away.
I go to to Hotel once a year for a girls weekend and almost every stay has been great. Only minor concern with the lack of unfriendly service from one front staff member. The buffet is always amazing, there's tons of food, but save room for dessert!! Connie has always made our time in the restaurant fun and relaxing! I'm not a fan of their water system, very hard and has a strong smell. Our room was clean and the bottom floor with a walk out room was a bonus this year!! Great location in downtown Truro!
very good service and rooms, the location is good and the rooms were modern and well equipped with large TV and microwave and fridge. The bed was very comfortable and the internet worked well, though trying to figure out receptions hand writing to enter the proper code was difficult
Excellent accomodations, hotel staff very friendly and helpful. I will stay here again on my next trip to Truro. Hotel very conveniently located with good service, close to shops and industrial park. Lots of room for parking and in a quiet area of the town.
I stay at this hotel frequently and is always a pleasant place to stay clean friendly staff and great food close to everything the staff always goes out of their way to make sure you are taken care of
First of all they overcharged us because of all the people brought in from the Rugby tournament. Secondly our rooms were never cleaned nor did we get fresh sheets or anything even though we were out of the room the entire day. Front desk staff were terribly organized. Check out was a disaster, front desk was rude and totally not in control of the situation. I gave my keys and my room number and waited for about an hour for someone to check my room for damage. I was then charged 17.50 for dirty towels? They said that the dirt could not be washed out. They also never checked ID so anyone who had payed their deposit in cash could have easily had their money stolen.
We're locals and eat at the restaurant frequently. I ate here on a Saturday for lunch with my family. I had the club sandwich and fries. They changed their fries and they are now crispy coated and they are the worst fries I've ever had!!! They need to go back to their old fries. The club sandwich wasn't great the bread was too hard, even for toast it was super hard and dry. Mom and dad had the lunch buffet, I tried the meat balls and the roast beef and liked them both. The jello in the buffet was old the cream on top was hard and dry. Overall I would not order anything that came with fries.
The kids and I were really disappointed that the pool couldn't be used . There was a thick film on the top and the bottom in the corners was brown. It was disgusting. The staff said it would be cleaned, as always, that night but it was just as gross in the morning. The hot tub was removed. Just a big hole to show where it was. The pool was the reason we chose the hotel. The rooms were bright and clean and the breakfast was OK. When I mentioned that the kids were very disappointed the manager started asking very loudly over the walkie talkie what is going on with the pool. Although I was standing right there, she didn't apologise for the inconvenience or offer up as much as a free cup of tea. None of the staff did actually. They pretended like nothing was wrong. The exception would be the lady who was working when we checked in, she let us know about the hottub not being available. Next time we will stay down the road.
I was with a business party, and had the extreme misfortune to stay at this establishment. This hotel has absolutely no soundproofing, but on top of that, the semi-incompetent and downright rude treatment I got from the staff was over the top. I was in the motel portion in the back, on the first floor, and there was a large group of people in the rooms above mine and my other party-members. Literally all night, these people were stomping around, screaming, and carrying on. There was tons of alcohol use up stairs and the noise level reflected this. They weren't just inside their rooms carrying on - they were outside on the balconies screaming. I called the front desk staff first at about midnight. They said they'd talk to them. About two hours later the noise level was still unbelievable, so I called again. The night person told me they were sorry, they hadn't "gotten to it" yet. Absolutely unacceptable. Other members of my party had the exact same reception when we brought our complaints about the noise to the staff. I called a further three times, up until approximately 4:30/5am. The noise level carried on the whole time. In the morning when I went to complain to the front of house staff, we were told that basically, we had to suck it up, they were there and they couldn't do anything. The front of house day manager I spoke to was extremely rude, and said the noise level was just going to be like that and I had to deal with it. She told us to deal with it or move to another hotel. Normally I would have left this hotel immediately, but an event in town had all hotels booked up. Fortunately, on my third night I was finally moved to the main portion of the hotel rather than the motel out back (after two days of complaining). That was better, the noise was less noticeable, but the residents in the courtyard were still noisy, and I did end up phoning the front desk once. Fortunately after that initial call on the third night I was able to fall asleep (about 2am). The first two nights I was there I got only 3-4 hours of sleep due to the noise, and while they comped the third night, they refused to give us any further discount. As the whole purpose of the hotel is to allow guests to get restful sleep away from home, they absolutely did not live up to this expectation at all, and their refusal to deal with other guests that are making extremely excessive noise, keeping up everybody else in the vicinity is insane. Additionally, on the first morning (a Friday) construction began at the hotel at 7:20 AM. While I understood that there was active construction at this place, that doesn't account for the fact that at this time in the morning, a worker started smashing against my wall, trying to get off some old brick facade. REALLY, they couldn't be instructed to start that perhaps a little later in the day?! So after being up until 4AM due to the noise, I got woken up at 7:20AM. I would never stay at this hotel again, and I'll be thinking twice before staying at ANY Best Western ever again. Horrible rude service, and absolutely unacceptable noise levels.
Stayed first 2 days of November. No issues. Room was nice and clean but bathroom small. Excellent breakfast each morning that came with the room. Lots of choices. Staff was friendly. Other dining options nearby, also mall for shopping.
This was my second time staying at the Glengarry for business and I had no complaints. The room was standard and meets what I expect. It was clean and quiet. Staff were helpful. I was disappointed to find out they don't have a gym, but they do have a pool.
Staff are happy to see you and welcoming. Keep up the good work. lots of information that include places to eat, entertainment in the area and know what is going on for things to do in town. They were doing work at the time and you wouldn't even know it was going on. Breakfast was great in the morning..
Booked this as one of the last options for a couples getaway in Truro. I booked online with visa debit but upon arrival was told I needed a different credit card or pay an extra $100. I had booked for two people but was charged for an extra at checkout. The staff was mostly very rude, with one or two exceptions. This was not romantic in the least as right outside our window was a loud intoxicated fight that lasted for a while until authorities arrived. Not the romantic stay I was hoping for. Breakfast was cramped with small shot size glasses for juice and inattentive servers!
Stayed here on a recent family vacation, we booked two adjoining rooms. Rooms were spotless and staff was friendly. Breakfast was typical, but we all enjoyed it. The kids really enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor pools. If we ever return to the area, we know there will be a great place to stay.
The rooms were extremely dated and smelled terrible!! After checkin I messaged my husband to let him know how bad the room was and I was not at all comfortable. There were also a couple spiders and cobwebs in the room. After he arrived, it took very little discussion to decide not to even stay for the night and we left.
The property we wanted to stay at was full, so they referred us to this Best Western. We should have asked to see the room before we checked in. The building out front looks nice. But we were sent to the dump in behind the main building. The smell when we opened the door was disgusting...like urine. The bathroom was tiny, with no space for toiletries. We tried to open the windows because of the smell but one of the windows was broken and didn't open. If I was travelling alone, I would have left at that point but my husband was tired from a long day of travelling. I wanted to sleep in my clothes...or the car. Was so glad to get out of there this morning. And the shocking thing is...the price...we have Best Western Diamond status and are CAA members but it was still over $150 with taxes. Ridiculous. When we checked out this morning, no one asked about the room or if we were pleased with our stay...big surprise. Avoid this place!!!
We had a great stay at this property. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Kids enjoy the pools. Yes they have two pools !!! Staff was very friendly. The breakfast buffet was ok nothing special. Not sure why it's advertised Free but we were charged $5. The only thing that I didn't like was that at check in the clerk wrote out my full credit card number on the registration card. Isn't that against the privacy act ?! No one does that anymore. I use to work at a hotel and such practice stopped over 5 years ago. When asked why she was doing that I was told that this is the only way they can charge me in the morning. I think it's time to update your system I have the fact that my credit card number is out there for any employee to see. Hoping this will be changed next time I visit.
This is a very nice hotel that will be even nicer when the renovations are complete. The beds were so comfortable i didn't want to get up. The morning staff is very friendly. The breakfast was very good, I will definetly be staying here again the next time i'm in Nova Scotia
Recently had occasion to spend 2 nights here with my family while vacationing across the east coast. The location is just a few minutes off the TC highway and on the only route to Halifax so the location was perfect for us. The room was well appointed and clean. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The hotel has an onsite restaurant featuring a breakfast buffet or full menu (included in our package, which is good trying to feed 2 teenage boys), it also has 2 pools (indoor and outdoor) , a nice courtyard for sitting and a business center. Truro has lots of dining options to choose from all within minutes of the hotel. This hotel delivers good value and comfortable accommodations, recommended.
Aug 17 2016 My daughter and I reserved a room and checked into the Best Western Glengarry, 2-3 hours later the power went out. We waited for it to come back and I talked with the desk staff. They did not know what happened. Later I checked again and there return time of power kept being pushed back. We were very tired but we needed our Cpap machines to sleep. Around 1.00AM I talked again with the desk about my concerns and said we may have to leave by now the power company had pushed the return time to 3.00AM the person on the desk told me if we had to leave we would not be charged for the room. About a ½ hour later we packed up in the dark turned our keys in and left. Two days later I checked and my credit card was charged for the room. I called the hotel and spoke with the manager. Aug 20th 2016 @ 9.35AM she was very rude when I tried to explain she told me they do not give refunds! She was on the desk the morning of the 18th and she did not tell me we would not be charged. They didn't process my checkout as they did not have any power and the emergency lighting had gone out. Even the guy on the desk, flashlight was getting dim. We have stayed a lot and the Best Western has always been out Hotel of choice. Never a problem that the hotel has not gone out of the way to resolve and there has not been many as we have always found Best Western to be top rate in customer service. We were not upset we had to leave as things happen. But the attitude of the management when I called and tried to resolve this has really upset me now. They could of offered us free night, 30% off instead of We don't give refunds and the power outage wasn't our fault. Will when I pay for a hotel room I expect power let them take it up with the power company. So now when we travel we will be looking for the holiday inn.
place was clean parking was great right outside our room..bar was big restaurant food was ok..didn't do breakfast as had to catch ferry (half hr away) to pei..front desk was very helpful! sent us to nook an cranny for drinks an lunch when we first arrived as there restaurant is not open on Mondays..pool was cold..hot tub not working correctly..we seemed to have issues with all the best western pools an hot tubs except the one in Halifax nova scotia..i don't understand why these things aren't maintained as a lot of guest book best western because of these added feature...we stayed two nights bikers were welcomed with open arms...
Have stayed here in the past, very convenient for me. Visited Joe Howe waterfall in the park which was walking distance. The staff are always helpful the restaurant is very economical. Free breakfast altho some days it was packed and hard to find a table, but it was a very busy time school holidays. From here we were able to travel to Springill one day and then the following day to Peggy's cove.
We have company meetings and christmas parties here and the service is great. Personal bartender, gambling area, piano. Excellent food, drinks. Very good. I would recommend if you are looking for a venue for business or party setting.
Great hotel with downeast hospitality! Very accommodating and breakfast is the bomb! loved it our beds were so comfy, and a welcomed sight when we returned from a long day of sightseeing! We will be back! thank you all!
Stayed 2 nights at the Best Western Glengarry in July. Beds were very comfortable with lots of pillows to choose from, rooms were very clean and had everything we needed. Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly upon check in . They have an indoor and outdoor pool, free wifi and computers in the lobby for guests to use. We had a couple of drinks in their own site lounge one evening relaxing. It's not far from the downtown area, and quick access to the highway. I would definitely recommend the hotel.
My king room at the Best Western Glengarry was quite comfortable, even a bit luxurious. Unfortunately the air conditioning wasn't working. Luckily it was cool enough in the evening to open the windows. Breakfast was just OK with a slow conveyor belt toaster that had people lining up and really overly cooked scrambled eggs. Replace the ancient air conditioners with ones that work and the rating gets upgraded to a very good.
We have book this hotel with expedia. The hotel was at a good price and we received what it was expected. The hotel room were very too much humid when we got inside it but in general the room was cleaned. I would recommended this hotel for somebody that travel with a family or that has a budget that is 100-130$ per night.
We arrived at the hotel and headed up to our room on the 3rd floor. When we walked in, the room was extremely hot however it was a hot day and the AC was not on. We turned it on at the lowest setting and left for 8 hours. Upon our return the room was still hot and it appeared the AC was not working at all. As it was so late, we didn't call to complain and dealt with it. Went downstairs for complimentary breakfast at 9AM and found it very picked over and not alot of choices. The room was clean and beds are comfortable. The gals at the front desk were very friendly upon check in.
We stayed in the older motel part, paid way to much for it and it took almost a month for them to return fees from the hold on my credit card even though we paid cash! Room smelled of wet dog and cigarettes and pool and a stinky sludge on it. We let them know our feelings. They didn't seem to care :(
First rate service booked through 3rd party and when we arrived found that we where booked in a second floor room with no elevator and my mil uses a walker and cant clime stairs .Even though they where booked solid and had no other rooms they switched some bookings around and found us a ground floor room . Older buildings but very clean wonderful beds extra pillows breakfast way above average we likes so much booked second night only negative WiFi was slow at night
Planned a last minute get a way with friends and booked this spot. Found the rate a bit high at first but this place is worth it. An indoor and an outdoor pool (indoor a tad chilly) was fun. The lounge is relaxing and the restaurant excellent. Our room was up to date and very clean. The beds are heavenly.
PLUSES - free 'goodie' bags upon arrival - nice outdoor pool - Blueberry muffins! MINUSES - get to the buffet BEFORE 8:30 or you could be out of luck. A little bland as well. - 'secondary' set of rooms behind the main building perhaps not as nice, but not bad at all either. - a little pricey but you could blame the HST on that. No big complaints. I was about to say that the air conditioner didn't work but that was me not knowing how to work it (lesson - don't rush to complain about something!).
A solid "4" in my book. Spacious room, friendly and helpful staff, excellent hot breakfast with lots of options. Bathroom is a bit small but there are shelves under the short counter. Make sure you go see the Tidal Bore which is close by. Also recommend Parrsboro to view the horizontal tide and Hall's Harbor for the vertical tide.
I stayed here door family event. The beds are comfortable and clean. The hotel is looking tired and needs to be updated. The staff was pleasant and helpful with the exception of the Front Desk Manager. Watch out for her as she has a nasty demeanor. The conference food was ok but fairly outdated with tuna casserole, basic salads and packaged homefries. Thos could have been the conference organizer but it felt very packaged. The breakfast buffet is along the same line but it was included in our room so it was fine and the service was friendly and helpful. They have an indoor and outdoor pool.and a hot tub. It's in a central location with lots of parking. Plus there is not a lot of choice in Truro for conference functions which are family friendly.
This hotel was one of the best in our 14 day visit to Nova Scotia, great service and very clean and comfortable. Would stay there again on our next visit to Nova Scotia. My only concern, for a Best Western Plus, the bath towels did not have the softness I would expect from a Best Western Plus Hotel. Otherwise a great stay and will stay there next year, when we return to Nova Scotia.
Spent one night here with our family of four. We stayed in the main part of the hotel and had a nice room on the ground floor. The door to the grassy court yard and outdoor pool was handy. The beds were super comfy as well as the couch chair with the foot stool. The indoor pool and hot tub provided a relaxing place to chill after a long drive. We were disappointed that there was no fitness facility and that we had to pay extra for our teenaged children for the buffet breakfast as it was no better than the other hotel breakfasts that we encountered on our trip. The hot items were on the cold side and the hard boiled eggs were raw. We didn't feel the price justified the value.
We visited this hotel for two nights during a tour of Nova Scotia. Check in was efficient. Not sure why we were placed in one of the outside rooms which could have been a problem had the weather been bad. They did not bother to get the soya milk we had requested and in fact the waitress was very offhand about it. Visit the old school museum just across the road...very interesting!
but overall a not bad stay. when we first arrived the room smelled musty, as if it hadn't been opened for some time. Which surprised us since the hotel was mostly empty and I wasn't sure why they'd have put us in an outside room with rooms available in the main building. However running the air on high for a while helped the smell. Unfortunately this was to be our longest stay - three days - and each time we returned to the room after a long day of traveling, we came back to that initial mustiness. It was a definite blemish on an otherwise fine stay.
Extremely clean, comfortable, friendly. They always make me feel like I'm coming home. The property boasts both an indoor & outdoor pool, jacuzzi. Rooms are spacious, clean & tastefully decorated. Although the property is very well kept, it is the staff that keep me coming back, always happy, always caring, always friendly and a lot of fun. Victoria Park is within walking distance as well are the Atlantic Superstore, NSLC, Good Life and Truro's Downtown.
We got the room with the pillow top mattress and I have to say, it was wonderful. Our room was clean and tidy. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is an outdoors pool as well as an indoors pool. A lot of parking. It is an older hotel but has been updated amazingly. You would never know the age of the building. Our room had a bar fridge and microwave. The only thing I can even think of that was less then prefect was a small elevator. It ran smooth just a bit tight with three people and our luggage. I would defiantly stay again
Rusting bathtub that did not drain. You can hear your neighbors, anyone in the hallway, and the noisy bar across the street. Beds & towels were great but the rest of the room subpar. Staff was friendly and efficient. Overall the room is way too expensive for what you get.
After having driven for 400 km and very tired, we decided to look for a hotel, the BEST WESTERN was located in an excellent location , especially for a person who has never visited Truro . Parking was free, food was very good and the environment was excellent and extremely helpfull
The hotel looks nice inside and stay were very pleasant and helpful. I had a single bed, and room size accordingly. It had a non carpeted floor which was fine but it does detract a bit from the usual appearance of BW rooms. I was advised of the bar across the street or I would have asked for a room at the backside of the hotel to avoid the loud noise of party goers and music coming through the opened garage style door. Overall I was comfortable and the noise lasted only 2 hours.
Stayed here recently for a work conference. Due to the travel distance, we came up the night before. The rooms are clean, comfortable. I actually liked the 1st floor rooms that you could park in from of and had access right to the parking lot. The best part was the breakfast that was included was not the usual buffet breakfast. You sat at a clean table and a waitress came and took your order and delivered it fresh, hot and perfectly made. It was a huge breakfast for being included and I could not possibly eat it all.
Last weekend I attended a Rotary 7820 District Convention at the Glengarry. They are well set up for conventions with a large main room and several break out rooms. The food was excellent as was the AV. The guest rooms are clean and well maintained. I requested a certain location and was pleased to have my request honoured. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great Convention. Thanks.
Spent 4 days here as part of a conference. the room was a drive up room. clean and comfortable but dated. the food in the hotel was good but had trouble meeting dietary issues. Would i stay there again probably not.
This is a very pleasant, comfortable and affordable hotel with very friendly and efficient staff. Was attending a conference in this facility which included several meals. Meals and nutrition breaks were excellent and conference facilities were very pleasant. The staff were very quick to replenish tables with with water and fresh water during the Nutrition Breaks and the conference areas were very clean and comfortable. The bedrooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable.
Extremely poor customer service. Having not been notified of the cancellation policy at time of booking, I contacted the hotel the day prior to our arrival to cancel due to unforeseen family circumstances. (I called to cancel only about 4 hours after the "cut off" time) I was rudely refused and was even told that there was no sense speaking with the manager since she would not be able to help. I've never experienced such poor customer relations when dealing with my hotel reservations. Needless to say, I will be staying elsewhere when traveling to Truro.
Late post due to life being what it is. We booked the last room available for New Years Eve. We came in early on Dec 31 2015 knowing full well we had paid for our room for Dec 30 to guarentee our late and or early arrival. There was a momentary glitch while the front desk staff called up our resrvation. Camella was on the phone nearby talking to another client but looked over and gave the ok to an unfortunately mis-informed registration staff to go ahead . I actually spoke to the lovely and talented Camella to book our stay because I knew we were flying in late and did indeed agree to pay for the room the night before we would arrive in the early A.M. and wanted verbal conformation and the name of the verbal conformation staff member. Knowing New Years Eve can be a challenge, I made a big point of saying we would be arriving early that morning. Camella not only got us sorted, she escorted us to the Breakfast room to make sure we got the free breakfast we were entitled to from the night before (when we were all busy flying to Halifax). Best breakfast ever! Honestly we were so travel weary we would not have considered we were still eligible at that time to get the included breakfast. At 35 minutes before the offer ended our waitress immediatly identified us as weary travellers and coffeed us up and helped us choose our food because by that time we would have accepted anything. Our room was in the older, further from the main building area and exactly what we needed. Comfy beds, fridge and microwave, dishes and cutlury. The room itself was clean and the housekeeping staff intoduced herself and asked if we needed anything. Much later we had the early New Years Buffet dinner in their most excellent restaurant before heading out to the Mark Walker comedy show at the Marigold. Well, actually my husband had the buffet. I was not yet ready for a big meal so I ordered the seafood chowder. Best chowder ever, but such a large serving I did not finish it. They bagged it in a microwave friendly manner and sent me off with a spoon for later. After asking if everything was ok or if I would prefer something else! I ate the rest cold upon returning from the evening festivities and people were jealous. So upon taking my leftover chowder back to the room I saw our friend Camella all dressed up hosting a party in one of the conference rooms. I believe she was off duty at the time but she still had an eye on the front desk and assisted staff with the usual protocal for paying customers on New Years possibly less than sober. This girl is a gem and I hope Best Western appreciates her. The rest of our trip was indeed a Happy New Year. We hope to return soon. Having read a few reviews in the time since our stay I must say that I think Camella totally knows what she is doing and the comlaining people either are just haters or want something for nothing ( in my opinion).
Very clean, well decorated rooms.Comfortable beds, great pool.Wonderful breakfast, great restaurant staff, didn't get to check out bar as I was traveling with children.Great location.. Negatives would be...not the friendliest staff, pool area needs throuough cleaning, and dusty fake plants take away from decor.Just a quick tip..it has motel like drive up rooms..be aware when booking.. Prob nice in summer..especially with the outside pool..but a drag in the winter to have to get bundled up to go to pool and breakfast. I booked on discount site so worth the price I paid.. Would recommend this hotel..it is close to the beautiful Victoria Park :)
This was my first time here and I was impressed with the room, the quality of the bed and the service. I ate in the restaurant and it was one of the best burgers I've had. A perfect place to stay in Truro.
Came here for Truro 7's and they were very poorly organized. When trying to ask questions over the phone prior to arriving was answered with one word answers and a rude turn and then when leaving it was a disorganized chaos and we were talked down to like we knew nothing and were treated poorly. Next time we come for truro 7's we will not be staying here and will let other people know of our experience.
really comfortable stay, however the lady on the front desk who i' am guessing was the boss ( the way all staff interacted with her) could do with learning some customer service skills! saying you don't have time for this and that you are busy is just rude. paying $10 for spare room keys after the initial 2 given out (4 of us were in the room) is just outrageous never have I stayed at a hotel like that, then to get charge for blood on a towel and dirty face cloth just feels like robbery. just felt like she was more concerned about the extra money that could be made, all other staff were a credit to the best western bran and the hotel, maybe she could take note of that
Came to Truro for the weekend chaperoning teenage athletes. Compared to the hotels we usually stay in, this is "sketchy" - the girls were alarmed by the police van driving around the parking lot. The rate ($180 including tax) is high for what you get - a rundown motel. Breakfast is only complimentary for HALF our guests. Hotel requires you to book for two nights, and then the "complimentary" breakfast is only for one of the two. Won't stay here again - if we have to come to Truro, we'll try the Holiday Inn next time.
I recently booked a reservation for 1 night at the Best Western Glengarry and needed to cancel due to an unexpected family commitment. I called as soon as I was off work and was able to notify the hotel of the change in plans and the front desk clerk quickly said that I was 4 hours past the deadline to cancel. Nothing that she could do. I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor, none available. I left a message with the General Manager, who is away until Monday. I called Customer Service for the Atlantic Region and they tried to reason with the hotel- nothing done. I called the hotel again in the morning to see if my reservation was cancelled. The Supervisor said that she could not cancel my room and they turned away many customers today. I replied that my rooms was available to be sold..she said there was nothing on my file to say that and the people that called today wanted to stay two nights. The clerk the previous night did not leave a note on my reservation to say I wanted to cancel my room. Opportunity to sell the room was lost. I called Customer Service again ... was told it was up to each individual property to choose how to handle reservation cancellations. I work in the hospitality industry and understand that cancellations are unfortunate but they happen but you still provide good customer service. Every guest is to be valued and you work to ensure their experience with the property is professional and exceeds expectations in service delivery. Every employee is a representative of the hotel and they should always be professional and deliver excellent customer service in the hopes the guest will return to your property or a sister properties. I was left NOT ever wanting to deal with Best Western Glengarry Truro.
Stayed at the Best Western Plus Glengarry while in town for a business meeting. I stayed in one of the executive suites and loved the room. I wish I could have had more time in it to enjoy it. The room had 1.5 bathrooms, separate living room and an electric fireplace (which was enjoyable). The full bath even had a Jacuzzi tub, which unfortunately, I didn't have the time to enjoy. The three executive suites are separate from the other bedrooms and should normally be quieter than the other rooms, except when the room next to you is having a birthday party. Hotel was excellent, service was top notch and room was quite enjoyable.
If you are travelling solo for business and need a place to stay. It's okay at best. Be sure to ask for a room in the main building as it was no joy getting soak first thing in the morning walking across the court yard from the exterior building back to the main for breakfast. Furniture could use some updating. Front desk was okay at best. If you a BW member don't expect any of the usual benefits. This location is best suited for conventions and locals. Will I be back ? Unlikely if there are other options. In summary this was mediocre at best.
We celebrated a family birthday and travelled from Dartmouth, New Glasgow and Moncton. Staff at the Glengarry were very helpful and we had a wonderful time in the separate dining room. Several of us stayed overnight and all rooms were lovely and comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel.
All Staff were exceptional, courteous, thoughtful, helpful, and very pleasant. While we only live 45 minutes away, we enjoy getting away now and then, and over the years we have stayed here many times. It is the warm feeling we get that keeps us coming back.
Dont waste your money here, if you have a problem dont bother to bring it up because you are treated like crap for bringing it up. I stayed with my best friend around new years. BAD SERVICE plus an expensive room. The "manager" CARMELLA has no respect for clients- rude and not empathetic. She is one of the worst managers there is. With Carmella as a manager there, NO WONDER THE SERVICE IS IN THE TOILET!
Service at the front desk was not good ...booked for 2 adults and child and had to pay an extra 10 dollars for breakfast. The WIFI sucked. rooms were mostly clean but needs updating. will not be staying at this hotel again.
Stayed here for 3 weeks for work. Staff at the front counter were very easy to deal with. Melissa and Danielle were great! Ive never seen a cleaning staff that was so keen on cleaning a room, even if you were in your room they wanted your mess. These ladies were great! Restaurant has a small menu, but the food is pretty good. A little pricey. Theres a small piano bar where a young lady named Lindsay takes care of it. Shes phenomenol and has a smile that could light up a room. Overall I highly recommend the Glengarry!
This hotel is close to the highway. The front counter staff are friendly and easy to deal with. The hotel is split into two buildings. The main building has an elevator, the secondary building does not. Room soundproofing could be improved. You can hear car driving by on the wet road outside your room. The rooms are well furnished and the beds are comfortable. Great hotel if you are looking for a place to stay for one night.
Excellent hotel of this class...kept extremely clean. Front desk staff is very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast area is spacious and one of the best in a Best Western I have experienced. Excellent food at breakfast and dinner. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, lots of pillows, close to everything. Internet speed above average.
Recently stayed here for one night with our little dog. The building behind the main hotel is used for guests with pets. Although it seems old the room was surprisingly clean and spacious. We did find it noisy though, with doors closing and the guy above us using the washroom! A generous breakfast is included in the price making this a very appealing spot to stay when in the area.
The room and beds were excellent in the annex behind the main hotel. Windows opened for good fresh air. Might be a bit noisy if the pool were open. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful -- we forgot something on leaving and the hotel mailed it back to us. Good breakfast included with room.
this hotel is top notch without a doubt. The staff is so very helpful and the whole place is spotless and very inviting. The pool is inviting and refreshing. We always stay at this hotel when we travel and highly recommend it to all.
Stayed here for 5 nights and although it was just a place to lay our heads and shower, it was very cozy and clean. There were 2 adults and 2 children in the room and we managed without too much trouble. Restaurant is fab. Close to almost everything.
We had a large room on the ground floor which had recently been refurbished. On one of the mornings of our stay, breakfast was to be ordered off a menu but a buffet breakfast was available the following day. Both were nice, and included in what we had paid. We also ate in the restauraunt in the evening, again good value and nicely cooked. The wifi worked well. The hotel is quite central, and next to a busy road but traffic dies down at night and is not then intrusive.
Good hotel. Short stay. There was a room that was partying late at night but that was no big deal to us. We went for one night for a wedding that was close by. didnt get to use pool as we were only there for a short time but it looked nice. Hotel was in center of town
WE received a good rate for our rooms for the meeting - we took 7 rooms plus a meeting room. We were well looked after and would come back here for meetings in the future. Meeting room was a little cold but when we asked to have the air condition turned done it was done right away. Free Buffet Breakfast was very good with lots of hot food to choose from
The breakfast was a cut above the usual, table service and freshly cooked! The service was also very friendly throughout and accommodating with my very British need for hot water (rather than coffee machine water) to make my evening cuppa with. Highly recommended!
