Another great stay at the Sterling bestwestern. Definately one of the nicest Best westerns i've stayed in. Room is always clean and comfortable. Breakfast is well above most hotel breakfasts. (The green chilli is very good!) The Front desk staff has been very friendly!
The front desk help was extremely helpful and informative, plus I was entertained by the creative towel folding. The beds were well made and comfortable, making for a comfortable night's sleep. Overall, a relaxing stay after a long day's drive.
The staff is wonderful and caring. The breakfast was excellent. The property was older, but nice. Everyone there was friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stay there again! Room had an inside and outside entrance both on the first floor, so loading car was very easy.
There is not a great deal of choice in Sterling, and we chose this based on reviews. The staff are lovely, breakfast is decent (and included), the rooms are large and comfortable. The pool area could do with a bit of maintenance, however. It's worth taking the time to explore the Overland Trail Museum just across from the entrance.
The employees were all fantastic! Very helpful and very kind! They made sure we were happy and the room was clean and comfy!! Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Staff was very friendly, and awesome, breakfast was very good. Drapes were torn and room was a bit dingy!
Expensive but big room with front hallway door and back door to car. Carpeted room so lots of doggie smells that drove one of our dogs crazy. They apparently have never heard of Nok-Out odor neutralizer. Closet, desk, desk chair and desk light, TV, fridge with no freezer compartment, but the front desk person has a place for your freezer packs. Microwave. There is a nice park across the street with parking and a lake to walk around. All rooms are non smoking. There is a pool, fitness center and full breakfast. They charge extra for pets but they comped us on that.
Room was fine, the shower water pressure not so much. I would request to stay in the other wing of the hotel ad my friends water pressure was fine. Typical hotel breakfast offerings. Some of the items were good, others not so much.
The staff here are very attentive and go above and beyond to make sure you stay is comfortable. You can tell they work as team and communicate well. Ryan was so helpful checking us in and even called us to let us know we left the light on in our car.
Really nice hotel. Loved that I could park my vehicle right outside the back exit to my room. That made unloading and reloading so nice not to have to walk so far to my room. The fitness area was very nice. Didn't get to use, but on a longer stay I certainly would have. I did use the outdoor pool, and it was very nice. My daughter and I did get bitten a bit while were out of the water. Maybe bring some bug spray to avoid that. There was a very nice, small indoor pool as well to avoid the bugs, but we wanted to enjoy the beautiful day. There looks to be some sort of park right next to hotel, but I couldn't find anything saying what the park was, but it's a beautiful area with mature trees and green lush grass with picnic tables. I plan to return very soon and will bring a picnic basket to enjoy that area. There's a nice Overland Trail Museum a very close walk away that I would like to visit eventually, but I was last there on a Sunday and they are closed on Sundays. However, most of the grounds seems to be open, so we walked over for picture opportunities with their buffalo statue, windmill and farm equipment. Overall very pleased with my stay. Beds were comfortable, room was clean. Pretty much had everything we needed for a short term stay. I will be returning very soon.
If you are traveling to Sterling, CO this is a great place to stay. Clean rooms, hospitable staff, and delicious breakfast. A safe and enjoyable place to stay.
The gentleman that worked the evening shift 3/19/24 was amazing. I went to ask him a question and ended up talking for 1/2 an hour. Everything about my stay was great. The complementary breakfast was one of the best I've had. I only stayed 1 night next time I am through Sterling you are going to be my 1st choice.
Always friendly, clean and convenient! Evening desk clerk (Angel) is aptly named!! Super helpful!! Great stay. Above average breakfast. Close parking that felt safe and secure. Overall, simply a great experience at a solid motel! After a summer of traveling, this is how it should be done! Not always the case in other places, but always excellent here!
I was planning to stay at the Holiday Inn across the street but decided to book the less expensive Best Western. I could not be happier with the switch - it was the best night of sleep I'd had in ages!
This is great hotel just off the highway in Sterling. Very clean hotel with a small indoor pool. The breakfast was a nice array of choices from eggs to waffles. The two door availability in our rooms made it great for our pets to go out at night to use the restroom.
Very clean motel, lots of extras, keys always worked, great breakfast. Pool area good for children, only 3 to 4 foot deep. Large variety of food at breakfast. Pioneer museum across the street. Visitors center and nice park with a lake within walking distance.
Love this hotel! Rooms are always very clean and comfortable. We like the rooms with the outside doors. Makes it easy to carry things in and out and we enjoy sitting outside and relaxing. Staff are wonderful. Breakfast is good!!!
Jacuzzi room very relaxing after a long drive. Room has separate entrance for easy in and out. Breakfast was great and ready early. Easy to check in bed was a little firm. This was our second stay. Would come back again.
We had a large king bed room. Everything was very clean. No room service but placed towels in the hall and had them replaced. Angel was at the front desk and was very friendly and efficient. We had a relative with health issues and Angel helped with our reservations. She was a blessing to us. Breakfast was good with normal fare of eggs, bacon, potatoes, bisquits and gravy.
Clean, comfortable, pleasant staff, nice exercise room, excellent breakfast. Indoor pool is ok. I really would have liked a hot tub, but they are only available in some rooms and not in the pool area.
The front desk staff were amazing! Very friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and welcoming. Made me feel safe and comfortable. I would stay there any time! Also the outdoor doors in the room make for easy access to my vehicle and for smoking!
All the staff that I interacted with her friendly and helpful. The staff even gave treats to our kids. Our room was clean, the pool was very warm and the breakfast was decent. We will definitely stay there again if need be.
A perfect overnight stop. Staff was very friendly, especially the overnight gentleman. Great selection for breakfast. No elevator so I might not recommend for those carrying lots of luggage or difficulty climbing steps. The patio on our room was a pleasant surprise.
The room was updated, very clean and comfortable. The staff was very attentive and I heard one front desk person trying to save a patron money as they rearranged their plans. Plenty of the breakfast stuff you expect at this type of hotel. First floor rooms had a unique 2nd door to go back and forth to your car. I did not use any other services. I'd definitely stay here again.
Overall a good experience including a friendly staff, clean room amd good breakfast. Because I'm a rewards member they upgraded me to a room with a hot tub. Although I didn't use the hot tub it was nice and clean. I did however, join a few collweagues in the indoor pool.
We had a very good visit. The bed was very comfortable, the room was super clean. The property had a very good breakfast, and most importantly the breakfast bar was kept well stocked and the breakfast area was kept very clean.
This is an awesome motel that I highly recommend! The staff is wonderful! The breakfast is fabulous! Our overall experience was so appreciated as we were in town for a funeral and from checking in to checking out a great experience!
Fabulous stay. Friendly staff, exceptionally clean and great selection for hot breakfast. Beds were comfortable. Definitely will stay there again. Pool looked great even though we didn't have time to use it. Planning on an extended weekend trip to this hotel, we loved it that much
While I've been staying at this property off and on over the past twenty years, somehow it still seems fresh and new. This hotel has it all: Want an indoor room with only hallway access? They have it! Want a floor level room with an exterior door? They have it, too. An outdoor pool for warm weather seasons, and an indoor pool when the weather's less friendly. My room was spacious with comfortable beds, helpful tables and great WiFi, and they even have an extensive breakfast room allowing 24 hr access when meeting friends and relatives during non breakfast hours. The one drawback is: You need to book months ahead of time as this property always seems booked!
The rooms were very spacious, clean and nice. The hot breakfast was excellent. And the staff was super helpful and friendly, including making a wonderful recommendation for dinner. We had a fantastic stay!!
Was not a good stay, the toilet ran on and off all night , rooms are dated , the shower drips , could not leave the the bathroom light on as a night light because it also turns the fan on and it was loud.
Best western is an older hotel chain, but this location was updated recently, we were impressed with the updates in our room and the room itself was very clean. The front desk was super friendly. Breakfast was traditional, to be expected. The staff made sure to refill foods when empty. Very happy with our stay.
We arrived in the late evening and at the desk was a bright eyed, smiling face greeting us to motel and she quickly checked us in. The room was clean and they did nice little touches throughout the room. The breakfast was delicious and had a better selection than I have come to expect in most motels. The dining area was cleaned and was being constantly attended to. We will be back again as our journeys to Colorado will be annual.
My husband and I were looking for a night away for our anniversary. We booked a room several days before our date night. We got a call from the hotel as we were driving there to check in, saying they no longer rent rooms to locals anymore! Seriously????? But they couldn't bother to let us know in a timely manner??? As a local business owner, I will never recommend this hotel to anyone, ever again. Bad form Best Western!!
I travel from Missouri to Colorado for family and my family said that this place would be the best place to be, we stay in York as a halfway mark and we use the best western where ever we go. Thank you for an amazing stay!
Easy to get to. Ample parking. Friendly staff and very helpful. Easy access to fitness room. Nice variety for breakfast items. Coffee ready early in the morning to us to grab a cup when we woke up. Will stay again in the area.
Great place to stay with a pet. They have a room that had an additional French door access to the parking lot. The convenience of taking the dog in and out that way was awesome. Beds were comfortable, room although older decor, was clean and had all the expected amenities. With a great little grassy area to take the dog to and a really good dog friendly brewery a quick drive away for dinner and libations, this was a perfect stop over on a cross country trip.
We have stayed at this property multiple times to watch our daughter play bball in college. They are awesome. They treat us like family and always are very accommodating. They also always give us the room w want if they have it!
The Sundowner is located lose to the interstate. Fuel is available nearby. The staff were personable Anne made sure we knew where a variety of food was available for our evening meal. The breakfast was delicious and there was a wide range of hot and cold items available to choose from. Coffee and eggs were replenished as they were depleted.

Was very nice place to stay and very friendly people. Food was good. Room was good size and bed was very comfortable. Would recommend to all friends and family. Location is great just right off the interstate.
Hotel is right off the interstate and easy to find. Downtown isn't far away to go grab a bite to eat, or check out the historic main street. The hotel is right next to a busy truck stop, but not all the rooms face this direction.
Great front desk service and rooms were exceptionally clean. We will be using this hotel for our family reunion. Food was excellent, pool area very clean. Lots of hotels in the area but this one is the best overall value.
This is the best hotel I have stayed at in a long time! The price is perfect for the amount of excellence they provide. The rooms are clean and neat, the outside is well kept up, the inside is super appealing and clean. I love food and this is by far the best continental breakfast I have ever had! I would totally stay here again!
Great experience, have a wonderful breakfast provided and wonderful breakfasts area, clean hotel, quiet, internet availability was great, pool area is very nice. Location is nice you don't notice it is a short distance off the highway will stay here again!
This was our second time staying here. Both times we had a nice clean room. We got a room looking over the pool area. Their outdoor pool is really nice. Enjoyed it a lot. Highly recommend staying here.
The hotel was clean and well-kept with a staff that was courteous, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was super nice with a generous selection of items.
We were in a jam as our car broke down late in the evening and Best Western happen to be across the street. Although the hotel was booked they were able to find us a room and were also able to accommodate us for several more nights while our car was being worked on.
Upon arrival, the exterior of the hotel looks nice and well kept. The interior was very gross and looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the hotel was built. The lobby, stairs, Halls and two bedroom suite stunk to high heaven. I'm a pretty observant guy so when I looked at the window frame, I knew something was odd. Upon further investigation, I noticed the window frame was rotted out and could see very dark rotted wood. Also the indoor pool was shut down so the outdoor pool was the only option for the kids. It was dirty, had dead bugs in it and was pretty dilapidated. Overall, very disappointed in our stay here and definitely do not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Wife and I stayed on way back to Nebraska... location good right off 76. Rooms large but dated. Bed was comfortable though. Staff accommodating. Indoor pool down for maintenance. Had points or room would have been close to $200 per night.
A pleasure to stay at this hotel where we have stayed numerous times before with pleasant stays The staff were wonderful. The Hotel is an older one and is beginning to show its age. It was very clean and the beds were very comfortable.
We arrived very late, and had a very easy check in. Having inside and outdoor access to the room made it very easy to get settled in for the evening and to get our breakfast in the morning. They had plenty of options for breakfast. Every thing was clean and well cared for. It was a very pleasant rest during a long car trip.
Located right off the Interstate and close enough to town where we could get dinner and a few items. The property is very nice and attractive looking. The room was very nice. Large enough that we felt very comfortable. Bathroom was set up nicely and the beds were very comfortable. Plenty of parking. Great that coffee was available very early in the morning and that brewas set up so we could have something before we left. There is a lovely pool area we did not use. The balcony off the room was a nice touch. I chose this since it was the first larger town in Colorado and was very pleasantly surprised at how nice it was
The front desk was very friendly and helpful. The room rate was very reasonable. The motel room was big and very clean. Room was very comfortable except for thr cigarette smoke smell! If it advertises smoke free it should be smoke free.
We stayed here for a Valentines Day Give Away the hotel was offering. So blessed that we won the night. We were so pampered. The night also included dinner from a local restaurant, Parts and Labor and flowers from Cattleya Floral. Both are local place we would recommend.
Great customer service, friendly staff, all of people are very helpful and generous. The room is very clean, good environment. Very easy and fast check in/out. This hotel met the CDC standard and mask restrictions!
Exceptional staff. Extremely clean. Conveniently located! They take pets! Enjoyed our stay! Great attention to detail during COVID and thankful for the extras measures they took. Recommend to anyone looking for a hotel in the area.
Be careful here! They kept something I left behind and would not return my calls about it. We accidentally left behind a nice jacket, and called them about it a couple hours after check out. They found it in our room that same day and confirmed that to us by phone. They promised to send it to us, but we never saw it again. After not receiving it, we called and emailed several times, and they never returned our calls or our emails about the jacket. When we finally got ahold of management, we were only given excuses. I suspect that after verifying to us that they had it, they found out the value of the jacket and kept it or sold it. Sad!
'Loved this Best Western Hotel. They had a lovely spacious room with 2 queen beds plus room for our dog. They had a very clean room, a buffet breakfast that we could choose the items" to go" back to our rooms or to eat in the car. The Social distancing by the staff of the "Sundowner" was excellent. No one could eat in the breakfast area.. but, they had a full variety of foods. 2 cheese omelets, biscuits, and gravy, yogurt, milk, coffee, muffin, fruit cup, oranges, bananas, too. All was packaged and met CDC standards. Kudo's to them and their staff. Very pleasant.
This would be a great motel if they were more thorough with their cleaning...dust on lamps makes one wonder how clean anything else could be. the people are nice and helpful. breakfast is decent for a motel.
After driving 15 hours we decided to stay at this Best Western because it was the highest rated hotel for that area. Front desk clerk was wonderful. When we arrived in the room it was full of flies & it looked like it hadn't been vacuumed at all. Found napkins between the wall and top of bed. Sink drain stopper was broken. No fresh fruit at the average breakfast. Not a good experience at all.
Needed to find a hotel for the night along I-76 and the Best Western Sundowner in Sterling was perfect. Room large and looked recently updated. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Close to the Interstate but far enough away(1/2 mile) so no road noise. I liked the odd but helpful dual access to the room with a door to the hotel corridor but also a back door allowing for easy carrying of luggage in and out of the room from my car.
Loved the hotel's set-up with their different options of rooms. Some had balconies, some had outside entrances, and some faced the pool. And speaking of the pool - there is an outdoor and indoor one. Both are nicely maintained!
Arrived very late at night for a brief one night stay on a cross country moving trip. Have stayed in a lot of best westerns but this one was quite disappointing. When we arrived the bathroom was obviously not cleaned well—there was an old razor cap and hair in the shower, dust all over the toilet and counter, and a large lotion handprint on the sink handle. The bed had a few hairs in it and oil marks on the headboard. They advertised a served hot breakfast (for covid reasons) but when we arrived an hour into the breakfast slot, the whole room was dark, no employees in sight (although we had passed a few chatting in the hall) and no hot breakfast. The signs asked us to wait in line for the employee to serve us (so that we wouldn't touch the food prep areas) but no one arrived. We self-served cold bagels and an employee walked in. They hardly greeted us, were not wearing a mask, and did not offer hot breakfast or an explanation as to why the breakfast area was un-manned and there was no hot food. Overall, was very disappointed and would not recommend this particular best western.
It was a bit frustrating to have a truck and boat with another extra car taking up two places and most of the parking lot in front of our unit. We also had to walk over a giant electrical cord that was attached to the side of our door to our room and the boat. We had to walk over the electrical cord. This is a safety issue and I hope management addresses this issue so that it doesn't happen in the future. Onto the room. We chose the room with a hot tub in the room. The hot tub does not have a bath rug and the area is very slick. It appears BW dropped the ball on the design, as the slickness of the tub coupled with a slick floor was not the most fun.
Looking for a place to stay in Sterling? Look no further! This hotel hit all items on my checklist: (1) Clean, (2) Comfortable bed, (3) Convenient location, (4) Free Wifi with strong signal, (5) Microwave & fridge in the room, (6) Good water pressure with ample hot water, (7) Good reception cable TV with a bazillion channels, (8) Large room, (9) Quiet, (10) Super friendly staff at main desk and diner. With a one-night stay for approx $100, it was an incredible value. If I ever need to stop in Sterling again, I will stay here in a heartbeat.
The carpet was wet and the room had a terrible odor. The staff at the front desk did not wear masks. The hotel ran out food for breakfast. They had only four bagels and we were the first couple to leave. I was told the weekend was very busy and hardly any food was left for Monday morning. The coffee container was empty and I had to ask the front desk to refill it.
The beds were so comfy I slept like a baby. The room was clean and it had an ample supply of fluffy towels. The staff was knowledgeable and kind. The out door pool was warm and inviting. Best hotel stay in years.
Clean, quiet, great indoor and outdoor pools! Fair breakfast options, appreciated toasted bagel. 200 character minimum for this comment section requested too many . I said what i needed to say in 96 words.
We inadvertently left therapeutic pillows when we checked out. Despite repeated promises to send them to us, at our expense, we have still not received them. We called to check on progress once a week over a five week period. Every time they said they would check and call us back. Not a single call back. No tracking number. No receipt. No pillows.
The fellow doing the checkin was not particularly speedy, but besides that everyone else we encountered was smiling, joyful, friendly and wanting to help, even the housekeeper in the hallway. Our room had an odor. We opened both doors for a good long while, but the smell was still there. It is ever so slight. Don't know what it is. Old carpet? Mold in the heater / air conditioner? The bathtub floor is incredibly slick. My wife slipped, and although she caught herself there is a bruise. With that experience, rather than risk falling and hurting myself, I opted to skip the shower.
This is the only place my entire family (60+) will stay when we are in Sterling, which is frequently. Great hotel, terrific staff and just a nice place to be. My family is from Stoneham, Colorado and we have events there frequently, and we always stay at this Best Western in Sterling, it is the best!
recommended by the local pharmacist. very happy with this hotel. great location, quiet, spacious room, recent remodel and update. very happy with this hotel. would recommend to anyone who is traveling to Colorado
Staff very friendly and helpful. I've stayed at this location several times over the years but the hotel is beginning to look dated. The room was clean and comfortable but the bathroom was very small. The sink is in the main bedroom.
Stayed here on multiple occasions and the staff is awesome. Rooms are clean and well kept. Good breakfast that is staffed in the morning (fruit, ham, eggs, juices etc). Free wifi for those that need it as well..
We have stayed here several times, and have never been disappointed. The rooms are large and clean. Customer service is excellent, and we love the breakfasts! Would highly recommend staying at this hotel if you're in the area.
I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for business. The room was very clean and comfortable. I wasn't sure what to expect as I have only stayed with Best Western once before. I was impressed with the staff and the complementary breakfast. There is no hot tub - which was a bummer - but I really didn't have time to use it anyway. I totally recommend this hotel and will stay again.
The Best Western Sundowner in Sterling, CO is a nice motel with a decent breakfast. I normally do NOT like motel breakfasts. The room was comfortable and pretty clean. It had a door to the outside so I was able to watch the sunset.
My wife my step daughter and myself had a wonderful time each night and each day we are at The Sundowner Best Western in Sterling Colorado we enjoyed the breakfast we enjoyed the pleasant staff we enjoyed the cleanliness of the rooms we enjoyed everything about this Best Western it's an oasis in this town of Sterling Colorado thank you Best Western!
I have stayed here multiple times and it's usually great but this stay was a little disappointing. My room was pretty small the smallest I've had there and I workout in my room which was a little tight. There was trash on the floor in my room on the first day and hairs in the bathtub also on the first day. The breakfast is usually decent but this time the eggs were very dry not really edible and they usually have oatmeal but didn't the first morning and my coffee was full of coffee grounds. This hotel is usually very good so I'm hoping it was just a one time thing where they were just off because I stay here for work and would like to keep staying here.
Impressed with the efficient check-in, the staff and the room was lovely. Took full advantage of jacuzzi tub to relax and destress after hundreds of miles of driving. Even though I was on the first floor and there was someone staying above me this hotel was extremely quiet.
Lots of problems however the front desk person was helpful. Problems include hard to access the internet, a broken door lock mechanism, an odor in the room, a very loud AC unit and lots of BUGS in the room. The continental breakfast looked so bad we didn't want to even try anything.
The handicap room had dog hair in a clump on the floor. The AC rattled every time it went on. Resident had a dog tied up outside that barked into the night. Had to call the front desk. Not enjoyable, We have had much better stays in the past. We come through at least twice a year. Will be looking for a different route in the future.
We have stayed at this hotel twice now for an over night stay. Their king room is awesome, large room, clean property and comfortable bed. Easy outdoor or indoor access. Convenient off the highway location. We will stay again!!!
I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years, as I have family in Sterling. This time I was rather disappointed in my experience overall. First, the room I was given was not what I was expecting-we were staying three weekday nights and were given an upstairs room without a patio, and I thought I booked a room with a sofa, which they do have, but they refused to move us to a room more to my liking, for the reason that the hotel was fully booked. These were weekdays (M-TH) in a small town, and the hotel parking lot wasn't anywhere near full any night; the hotel really didn't seem booked in any way. Even at breakfast few people were there; the claim that the hotel was booked seems very suspect. We had to carry up all of our luggage up the stairs to a second floor room when I saw lots of open drapes and dark rooms in first-floor rooms when we arrived back late evening-why couldn't we have a first floor room? We arrived right around check in time on a Monday, it's not that we arrived late. After the first night we left the room at 11am-and our room was never made up that day. We arrived back at the hotel late evening and asked for fresh towels and told the front desk ladies that the room was never made up-so the front desk lady says "well did you have your do not disturb up?" I tell her of course not-I took it down when we left at 11am. She said "well if you had it up before that, then they probably marked your room as do not disturb, and didn't make it up." No apology for the room not being made up-she pretty much blamed me for it. So, apparently you can't have the do not disturb on AT ALL if you want your room cleaned? Shouldn't the maid check again? It's not like 11am is very late to leave the room for the day, and we were gone until at least 9pm. Then, we went to the outdoor pool one night. The pool lights weren't on, and we asked the front desk to turn them on. They told us that they were "broken" and they were "working on it." Well, an hour or so later the maintenance guy comes and opens a shed and turns on the lights. They weren't broken???? So weird. Plus, what looks like a hot tub next to the outdoor pool in pictures is just a 1-foot deep kiddie pool, not a hot tub. Honestly lots of family warned me that this hotel had gone downhill, but I didn't listen because I remembered staying in it over the years, and remember it being nice. Next time, I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Express which is literally right across the street-it is newer and has an actual hot tub, and hopefully better service.
I use this hotel for business travel everytime I'm in sterling. Right off the highway, very clean rooms and amenities, breakfast until 10am. Very short drive to restaurants and one of my favorite breweries, parts and labor.
My one night stopover was pleasant, my room request was met with first floor room and patio door to my car parking spot. Quiet, well-appointed and clean room met all my needs. I appreciate that it is pet friendly.
I highly recommend staying here. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, fresh smelling, and well-maintained. The breakfast bar has everything! Hot food, a waffle maker, cereal, yogurt, good coffee, and more. It was always full and one of the best I ever had as far as choice and quality. The staff was very friendly and courteous.
clean and big room. Quiet through the night for a good night sleep. Definitely one of the better hotels in the area and conveniently located so getting back on the freeway home was super easy. Friendly staff
We've stayed here before and liked the place. Not so much anymore. Location is good, although the road it's on is noisy. It's also rather worn and dated. And what's up with Best Western's deal where they match the status of other hotel chains? I'm gold level with Hilton, and BW gave me diamond status. Ok...that got me a granola bar and bag of caramel corn. But the online “preregistration” I filled out with my room preferences was totally ignored. Musty room, lower floor, with an outside entrance of the older hotel wing, facing the highway. So much for requesting the top floor, away from traffic, elevator and vending. Breakfast was typically mediocre. There's a pretty nice comparably priced Holiday Inn across the street that appears to be a better option. We'll likely go there next time.
Very comfortable and quiet- great bed. Staff helpful and friendly- helped me to resolve an internet issue. Breakfast was fine, but construction outside was loud and annoying. Easy to get to and easy check in.
After a long drive to Colorado we stayed at the Best Western. We had a beautiful room! They had a really nice pool area and patio. It sits next to a museum and there is a gas station across the street. It's conveniently located off the interstate but you could not hear the car noise. We will definitely stay there again if we are out that way.
This was highly rated as it had patio doors for lighting and the best pool I have visited. The outdoor pool was heated, clean and fun to swim in. Besides, we had it to ourselves and the sun was shining. Made our stay memorable.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Clean property, clean rooms. Breakfast was fresh & constantly kept filled. I really appreciated the large parking in the back for our truck & camper. There's a nice picnic area in the back. Indoor pool as well as outdoor pool.
Not an overall bad hotel, but way to expensive for the location, Only thing we like about the property was Krista, she was very knowledgeable and made the stay more comforting about the area and what is good to eat and drink!
This is a very clean hotel with all updated rooms and powerful air conditioners in the room. Check in was super easy, rooms are easily accessible and beds are super comfortable. There were 2 nice pools though I didn't swim they looked good. The breakfast is excellent it's a full hot breakfast and they keep the food full and hot! Great place to stay and a little cheaper than the most expensive hotel in Sterling with no compromise on quality!
Upon arriving, the front desk young lady was the most welcoming and friendly person ever! We stayed with our black lab. Our first floor room had a door that opened to the parking lot and another to the interior of the hotel; so convenient! Our beds were extremely comfortable. Hotel is located next to a pioneer museum and there's a recreational area close. And, adjacent to the hotel is a lovely wooded grassy picnic area. It was obvious the owners and staff work very hard to provide a most excellent experience for those of us staying at their hotel!
Thisi was just an overnight stay after visting family in town. Price was great. Room was spacious and odor free. The front desk staff were very friendly. The eating area for breakfast had plenty of room and was very modern in decor. Don't be fooled by the "older" appearence of the hotel exterior. Room decor was modern and very clean. Bed was very comfortable. Night stands lamps that had plugs for cell phone/laptop charging. I mention this because I have stayed at much more expensve hotels that had no plugs next to the beds.I loved the first floor rooms that had an entry way that led directly to the parking lot. Lastly, our hotel stay was quiet even with a truck stop across the street.
The reception area was clean and inviting, and the receptionist was helpful. We have a small dog, and we were assigned a room on the street level and found a nice little park to walk the dog next to the motel. The room was clean and comfortable and had plenty of outlets for devices. The room had two doors - one to the street and one to the facility.
After a rough road from Las Vegas through Vail, we settled in this place for the night. Easy on/off Interstate 76. Friendly staff and clean , quiet and roomy room. Lovely king size bed and quiet heating/cooling system ( important for a light sleeper!). Wonderful breakfast and simple checkout.
From check in to amenities request this hotel staff cares about your comfort. Delicious breakfast with wide range of fresh hot dishes. Fully outfitted workout room. Outdoor pool and spa are large and nicely landscaped. After a long drive the indoor pool is just what I need.
I always stay at the Best Western when traveling through Sterling. Its an immaculately clean and beautiful facility, the staff is friendly and helpful and the breakfast is great--keep up the good work !
We loved our winter get away. We needed a pet friendly room and this hotel fit that requirement. Two doors one to outside and one to the hall. A nice little picnic park next to it. Full breakfast Nice
We checked in around 9:00pm and left @ 10:30pm It was so noisy. The gentleman in the room next to us was playing a video game. I could go into the language he used but this is a family friendly site. The people across the hall were having a party and as loud as they were I felt like I was at the party. We contacted the front desk I believe his name was Andy. He was very professional and said he could relocate us but couldn't guarantee it would be any quieter. We decided just to leave and consider it a learning experience.
I have stayed at this BW hotel, off and on, for the last two years and the experience is great!!! In fact, I will be back there in another week for a couple of days! Staff is always smiling, and as a regular guest, they remember my name when greeting me! You can/t beat that!!! Thank you!!!
I was taking my daughter out to Grand Junction from Wisconsin and we are very happy we picked this Best Western. Great room with outside patio...it was 56 degrees in mid-December and we sat outside for the afternoon. Beautiful exercise room with nice views. Good range of equipment...not just a couple of broken down treadmills. Great large and fluffy towels. Breakfast was exceptional. They had green chile stew, biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, etc. I went back for a bowl of the chile stew by itself. This after dumping it all over my first breakfast. I'd go back just for that stuff!
Good clean room, friendly staff, breakfast better than most we have seen, cookies in evening was great, staff was ready to help, ran into an odd problem there was two of us checking in that night and the other person was the only reservation they had, had reserved room through aarp and they had not forwarded ours, young lady at front desk took care of the problem and even found me a lower room rate
We don't usually find our travels have us stay in eastern Colorado off of I-76. Our research pointed to the Sundowner. We were satisfied with our quiet stay at this older and well maintained property. The room was pleasant, quiet. It was easy access to the interstate. It was quiet there in part due to mid-week travel in November with decent but coolish weather. The attendant pointed us to dinner in the western part of town (The Grill at River City) which included a discount card for dinner! Bed was comfortable; but breakfast was just so so. There was no elevator to the second floor.
This was a great place to stay, front desk women very pleasant and helpful about eating places in the town. Breakfast was good with a decent selection. Rooms very clean the hotel smells very clean when you enter, windows and yard all very well maintained great place to stay, comfy beds nice soft towels and good pillows. Thank-you to the staff for taking such pride in maintaining where you work. When passing through again will definitely stop.
We are heading home after a cross country trip. We have stayed in nearly 7 hotels. 2 were BW, which is now becoming my favorite choice. Our room had a outside patio by the pool and perfect for those with pets. The grounds are beautiful, rooms immaculate and comfortable. Breakfast was great! Fresh baked quiche made my morning, thank you! Thank you for being pet friendly, she loved the biscuit! We would definitely stay here again.
The BW was just right. Clean, quiet, close to things, and very friendly. The beds were good, the shower water nice and hot. Clean and quiet andcomfortable. I'm trying to get to my 200 characters. Just great.
This hotel was as nice as the Plus hotels we have stayed in. Our room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The breakfast was great, especially the coffee! We liked that we could park right outside our door and use key access directly into our room. We also liked that the breakfast room was in the middle of the hotel instead "miles" away at the front lobby.
We had a large room with two queen beds and a balcony. We always enjoy a room that has a refrigerator and microwave in the room, as our room here did. We liked the breakfast in the morning - biscuits, gravy, sausage, eggs, spicy fried potatoes, canadian bacon - it was all good. Didn't have a chance to check out the pool area on this trip. It is a two story motel and doesn't have an elevator but that is not a problem with us at all.
Previously reviewed this property favorably and I would not change anything I wrote. Back again in 2018 Kudos to Randy for fixing a invoicing problem. We will come thru in Sept on the way home. Plenty of parking for large rig. Great property located close to I-76 exit. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean relaxing rooms at value. Complete breakfast. We had business at the county fair grounds and it is easy to access the grounds from here. It does not have an elevator if you get a 2nd floor room. A problem for some might be the fact that a second floor room has no elevator service.
We stayed in a king room overlooking the outside pool. It had plenty of room, nice balcony and a very comfortable bed. We had lots of family there for a reunion of sorts and it was a great place to keep everyone happy with both indoor & outdoor pools plus a large breakfast area we all hung out in during a rare downpour. It is right next to a very interesting historical museum that you do not want to miss. It is right off the freeway a block or so but no road noise whatsoever. Very accommodating place, but honestly the price was higher than it should be. Possibly due to no competition in the area. I must say there are two beautiful large lakes in the area within 10 miles that are worth the drive considering you are in the middle of what looks like a desert all around Sterling.
Great hotel! Everyone on staff is friendly. Room spacious and comfortable with a balcony over the pool . The pool area is absolutely fantastic!! It is outdoors and very large with a little island in the middle of the large pool and a separate jacuzzi area, all surrounded by lovely greenery. Just a gem! Add to that a large breakfast area for the complimentary breakfast and a great fitness room. One could not ask for more. One tip: hotel does not have an elevator, so if that is an issue, be sure to reserve a room on the first floor.
My family and I stayed here while in Sterling for a wedding, we absolutely loved our room, the pool, the service, the breakfast, everything! :) Great place! If we are in town again we will always stay here.
On arrival, desk person was helpful in resolving an issue (our fault), he was patient and accommodating. Smaller lobby, but it works. Stairs to second floor room, but not a problem. Rooms clean, comfortable bed. Bathroom a little small. Laundry room with two washers and dryers (stayed at a Hampton last night that surprisingly had no laundry facility). Friendly staff, reasonably priced for area and what you get. Top of list if I have to stay in Sterling area again.
Back again in 2018 Kudos to Randy for fixing a invoicing problem. We will come thru in Sept on the way home. Plenty of parking for large rigs. Great property located close to I-76 exit. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean relaxing rooms at value. Complete breakfast. We had business at the county fair grounds and it is easy to access the grounds from here.
Great accommodations and very friendly staff. Make it a stop on your travels. Rooms were clean and furnished nicely. Nice pool area, felt welcomed. Manager made a point to let her know if we needed anything else to make our stay more comfortable. Nice!
Nice Motel. Recommendations for dinner were great... Room was quiet, which for our trip of staying in 9 motels in 10 days, 1/2 had unnecessary noise from either an off balanced fan, or a noisy refrigerator.
Great customer service. Check in clerk was friendly and knowledgeable. Exercise room was state of the art and lots of amenities. Hotel was conveniently located and I loved the two entrances on the first floor.
Overall a great place to stay. Could use a few modern upgrades but I would stay again. If you stay, make sure you ask to meet Blythe, she will make your stay a happy one. Best hotel in the area by far.
We randomly picked this hotel on a road trip. It is convenient to the interstate. Deanna greeted us with a welcoming smile which was much needed after a long day of travel. Our room location request was granted quickly and check-in was a breeze. The room was large enough for a family of 4. The room was clean and the linens were fresh and crisp. The beds were comfortable and the shower had good pressure. The hotel is conveniently located next to a gas station with all the food & beverages we needed for an overnight stay. Other restaurants were located about 5 minutes away. I would highly recommend this hotel for an overnight stay while in the Sterling area.
Hotel gave away our reserved suite and initially tried to give us a single room with less sleeping capacity. They then added another room to make up sleeping capacity and assured us the two rooms would be given at the price of the original suite. They then tried to charge us additional for the second room at time of checkout. Will check credit card statement closely!
We have stayed at the Best Western Sindowner several times in route to Colorado. Easy to get to off the interstate. Friendly staff, comfortable beds, good breakfast and very clean. This time we received a thank you for staying with us bag with snacks and a couple of waters. Nice touch.
Every thing was very clean and seemed In fresh repair. Beds were comfortable and pillows were comfortable. Free breakfast was plentiful and we got our best price by booking directly with Best Western. Staff was very pleasant and the balcony on the 2nd floor rooms was a real treat.
If you want excellent customer service with friendly staff, a clean hotel & room with a great complimentary breakfast, I highly recommend this hotel. I usually stay at a different chain of hotel, however, I have now found a chain that exceeds my expectations!
Large comfortable room with great beds and breakfast. Staff was amazing when our plans had to change. Cookie at check in, newspapers at front desk and coffee or tea always in the lobby as well is in your room.
We had to stay at this hotel due to road closures from weather. We could not have been happier. Great rooms, rates, and staff. The fact they accept dogs was wonderful. Everyone was thoughtful and helpful. We had a hot-tub suite - and it was fantastic. Just what we needed to relax and make the best of our unplanned evening in Sterling CO. Thanks to everyone for their help.
If you have a dog, this is hands down the hotel for you! Wonderful staff, clean room, good breakfast options. Our room had a back door so we could easily take our dog to the little park area they had with big trees, and plenty of room to throw the ball for our dog. No busy street where we had to worry.
Pleasant surprise in Sterling, CO at this lovely Best Western. Right off the highway but close to downtown for great restaurants. Love the “drive-up” right to your own room. Great for unloading and for taking our small dog out for walks. Yes, very pet friendly as well! Very clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
We have stayed here several times over the years and think they have done a nice job of updating the hotel. It is a very good location to the interstate for travelers and we found the front desk staff to be very helpful.
Our room was clean, and also had a little balcony off the second floor we could enjoy the sunshine in the afternoon. The breakfast area was spacious and also had a nice variety for a continental breakfast. Would stay there again!
This hotel is very nice and clean. The bed was very comfortable. There is a pool to relax in too! The front desk agent was extremely kind and helpful. If you are looking for a decent and quiet roadside inn, look no further!!!! I highly recommend this hotel.
Traveling 2 weeks every month I meet a lot of hotel employees and experience many different properties. This Sterling property never fails as the most comfortable trip. King rooms are spacious, modern and complete with everything you will need. Staff is best part of the stay. They know the area and can direct you to a wide variety of restaurants, activities and seasonal events special to the surrounding area. Always go above and beyond!
Its OK. Right near the exit for may off and easy on in the morning so.. convenient. I wasn't too impressed though with the accommodations and will try the Holiday Inn across the street. Unimpressed with the breakfast.
Great service. Everyone was very nice. Sevice was great. Staff was helpful and really liked how I was treated. I will be returning. The room was very clean and it was very relaxed. Anyone that comes to this hotel will love it.
I was warmly greeted when I walked in the building and every staff member was excellent at keeping me feeling welcome. It is an older building that has been maintained beautifully. STAY HERE!! It's not worth forking out an arm and leg just to stay in the "new" hotel across the street. The rooms are just as clean (if not cleaner) than across the street and the service you recieve is unmatched!
We stayed at this location due to a volleyball tournament. It was clean, comfy beds and the room was better than expected. I would stay here again. We were impressed with the breakfast room and the vast selection of items.
The room was great. Although initially I was a little concerned about the exterior door to the room, it came in very handy and we enjoyed having the option. Breakfast was really good. The green chili was great!
This Hotel was a great place to stay! It was very clean and nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. The food in the morning was good, amenities were user friendly and nice. A great place to spend the night!
The staff was extremely knowledgable in regard to weather reports as we had questions about the driving conditions. They were very helpful with our late arrival and need for assistance with bags. We were given extra blankets without a fuss. Breakfast was great.
The off season prices are excellent and everyone was very helpful and nice. Breakfast was great and it was easy checking in. The hotel is right next door to the museum. The kids enjoyed the pool. We had a great time.
Although the hotel is older it is well maintained and clean. Beds are comfortable and rooms and lobby have modern decor. Breakfast area is clean, well maintainedand. Breakfast buffet has a great variety for adults and children.
Very good clean good parking poor value for price if you need a place to sleep close to highway this would be fine my rating is based on no offering of food you had to go down the road all that was offered was coffee.
Hotel is in a great location and had a great experience there. Room was clean and the bed was very comfy. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and the food tasted fresh. Showers had plenty of water pressure.
Best Western properties have been dependable for me and I made reservations through the app while traveling through Nebraska. I make the trip fairly often; visiting friends or skiing, and tend to drive until I feel tired. The hotel was easy to access, just off of Hwy 76. Arriving around 11pm, I was happy with an easy check in, along with a bottle of water. My room and bath were both large and the room had a refrigerator and microwave. Because of my arrival time my room was close to the lobby and there was some noise. I was so tired it didn't bother me for long. Heading out early, the staff was cheerful and helpful. Not a long stay but it got the job done- rested and ready to drive.
The property was decent looking from the exterior, however we had ants in our room and a looooow pressure shower. It is a stark contrast to other Best Western premium properties. Proprietor was pleasant, but compensation for bugs and skip a shower would not get us to return.
Nice hotel. Hotel was clean. I enjoyed having a microwave and fringe in my room. Clean grounds. The outdoor pool would be great in the warm summer months. Thanks for the free Wi-Fi. I also enjoyed the Overland Trail Museum across the street. I will be bringing my dog next time, and he can enjoy the park next door as I saw others doing so.
This is always a busy trip for us, they always make our stay there pleasant. Staff is always friendly and helpful. The rooms are always clean and in order. The continental breakfast is always a huge help our mornings start very early.
Our pet room was impeccable! Hotel is easily accessed from the interstate. There is a very nice park behind the hotel where my dog was able to work and play. The pet area is kept very clean. Hotel staff recommended an excellent place to eat, very close to the hotel. Our room had direct access to the parking lot.
We stayed one night as we were passing through and the location is very close to I76. Its also close to the nice downtown Sterling has. The hotel is well kept and comfortable and has the unusual design of a door onto the parking lot and another to the interior hallway.
Stopped here off I-76 outside of Denver. Nice place for the money. Not high quality furnishings and room, but clean and quiet. No elevator so had to carry luggage to second floor. Otherwise, clean, nice people and convenient location. Would stay there again.
I want to mention the helpful front of house person. I didn't get his name but the time was 6:45 AM on Tuesday, Sept 26,2017 He was just finishing up his evening shift. My rental vehicle from the Denver, CO airport got me to this property and all was fine when I parked it and went to my room the previous night. The next morning (6.45 or so) the car wouldn't start. This staff person was helpful above and beyond. I had to go to work as a business traveler and made other arrangements. I had setup a service person to get the vehicle and/or fix it. The keys were left with this person at the front desk. When I returned to this property after getting another ride from work. The keys were there waiting and the rental worked fine through-out my trip. Thank you!
Nearly new hotel, with large rooms. Our room had a hot tub, and both indoor and outdoor access. Service at the front desk was excellent. Great place to stay, and easy access from I-80. We would highly recommend this place. Be aware that some GPS devices (including our Magellan) cannot find the address on Overland Drive. A call to the hotel resulted in a good address, 12416 County Road 370, 80751.
The staff had our room ready early and allowed us to check in early. Our kids enjoyed the pool, and the room was very nice and clean. The breakfast was lovely, with lots of choices. We had a wonderful stay and will return to Best Western Sundowner if staying in Sterling again.
We stayed here while traveling to S.D. for Pow Wow. Very easy to find and access from the highway. Right next door is the Overland Trail Museum which a person could spend hours in. Hotel & staff are excellent.
The Best Western Sundowner,Sterling,Colorado is like all the other Best Westerns we have stayed at,AWESOME! Very professional people. Very neat and clean, inside and outside.Super breakfast. Clean and organized rooms. Easy to get to off I76. Great museum right across the road.
Wonderful hotel. Great staff. Very clean rooms with comfortable beds. Nice eating area and a large array of breakfast choices. This was our second stay at this hotel in two months and will and we will stay here again when in the area.
We were on a trip from Michigan to Colorado. This was our second night out. Lots of construction around the hotel, but quiet and no problems. Great outdoors pool. Not too big but very pleasant. We ordered Domino's Pizza and ate it by the pool. Older hotel but recently updated. Very good breakfast. Especially the potatoes. Walked over to the Overland Trail museum. $3. Wonderful museum.
It is just off the exit. The staff is just great as they are friendly knowledgeable and most helpful. Loved the room, breakfast and value. Our business was at the fairgrounds and it is easily accessed from here.
The wife and I stayed here on a recent trip. We stayed in one of the King Conference Rooms, a very nice room with two entrances. The parking was a bit strange with different lots around the building. The room was very spacious and clean. The staff was helpful and gave us a good restaurant recommendation.
Always clean rooms and hotel. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. I booked adjoining rooms this trip and that was nice. The kids enjoyed the pools. I rested poolside eating a popsicle that a stranger handed out to everyone at the pool. The breakfast has lots of hot and cold choices, plenty of seating. I wish they would add a hot tub outside.
We arrived at 10:30pm with a 5 yr old and an infant. The two room suite reserved was plenty of room for three adults and two children. A clean pack n play was waiting in the room as promised. The suite was very hard to temperature control by a small noisy fan in the wall connecting the rooms. Front bedroom had to be freezing to provide a little relief to back bedroom. It was still very warm to sleep. The bathroom needed a bit more cleaning also. Breakfast was fully stocked and beautiful. The workout equipment was pitiful. It was not operable or about to fall apart. Very disappointing to us. The indoor pool was clean and only 3 feet deep so our 5 yr old enjoyed safely swimming. Everyone was very kind and helpful. The location is right off the interstate so handy to continue our trip to Colorado early the next day.
Everything is pretty standard at this place. Clean and fresh. Triple sheeted beds. Husband ran out of hot water before his shower was finished. I couldn't keep the water hot in the bath tub. Everything else was fine. Got a good recommendation on restaurant. Front desk staff very helpful.
Very nice hotel. It was clean and simple. Good place to stay for a weekend at the county rodeo. There was some dogs barking near our room but nothing too bad. I would say my only complaint would be with the breakfast, need to monitor the area to make sure that items remain available and also don't got bad. I'm 80% sure the milk had turned.
We enjoyed having two entrances to the room on the first floor, A good hot breakfast was served. The staff were very friendly both at breakfast and reception. It was the first time I've received a Best Western Rewards gift which was appreciated.
We just could not drive any longer and called about 30 minutes ahead to be sure a room was reserved for us. There was a huge thunderstorm and it was pouring. We arrived with our three dogs and the staff was so helpful. Checked us in quickly, treats for the dogs, I was offered an umbrella and found our room right away. It was late, raining and we were tired. Thank you
Friendly staff; great breakfast. Overall exceptional - could not have asked for more.Warm cookies at the front desk and coffee at all hours was a great sense of comfort. I'll stay here again when I come back for sure.
We had been traveling with family for quite a while & were looking for a place to calm down. We found it. Lovely room, pizza delivery knocked on the patio door & gave us a great pizza. Breakfast the next morning was very good & lots of well-behaved families around. Too bad we didn't have time to take advantage of the surroundings: museum, restaurants, outdoor activities. Good place.
I love this hotel. Physically the location is great. The service and rooms are superb. Easy access to everything. The fairgrounds, golf and fishing at the North Sterling reservoir. However the fish must have been on vacation because I still didn't catch any.
Nice premises, excellent, caring, accommodating staff. Room well-supplied with the comforts of home, technology availability great. Handy access to both city of Sterling, and interstate and main highway going east.
I stayed at this new and clean hotel while traveling across country. The price of 140+ for a BW was very high but there wasn't any other place readily available so they had the market. I inadvertently left $75 cash on the tv stand in an envelope with my name on it. I called back later in the afternoon and I was told nothing was found.....really? If I can't trust the staff of a hotel....I will not go back regardless how nice the facility is.
We had an excellent experience at this hotel. Breakfast was the best out of the hotels we stayed at on our week long vacation. The room was spacious. The beds were comfortable. The pullout bed was not comfortable at all though.
We are crossing the country from San Francisco to the east coast and found this hotel a bit pricey for it's location. All other details are very good. Comfy bed, clean room, great breakfast, easy check-in, friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again.
We needed a last minute hotel while passing through town and found this gem! One of the best hotels we have stayed at in a long time. The hotel has two pools but we only used the outdoor and it was wonderful. The room was huge and the breakfast was fantastic! Everything was clean and up to date. The only drawback was no elevator so if that is a problem for you I would just ask for a room on the first floor.
Great place for dogs. Good breakfast, Great rooms easy to find. Staff was great recommended great restaurant for dinner. Easy to get back on road to Keystone S.D. I would recommend this hotel for anyone with dogs. There is a park right be side the property.
The staff very friendly and helpful. We had several rooms and they let everyone check in at different times. Rooms clean and comfortable. The pool AWESOME!!! We were there mid July and they had the A/C on when we stepped in the room very cool and comfortable. Nice selection for breakfast choices.
This hotel was very clean with very friendly staff and a great breakfast. We used the larger family room which is two rooms. Very nice hotel. Has small indoor pool and a large outdoor pool with great patio furniture. No hot tub though. Noticed other rooms in hotel have nice patios or balconies. Great stay!
Our family spent the night here to break up a long drive to Aspen. We reserved a 2-room suite, and found the room comfortable enough. The air conditioning wall unit was a bit noisy at times, but aren't they all? The bathroom was big and in good shape, although why no kleenex? Breakfast in the morning was reasonable for this price range. The cookies at the front desk were a delicious treat when coming and going. We all slept pretty well, which is the main point of a hotel room. If Sterling was our stopping point on a drive, we would consider the Sundowner again.
Great location, right off the freeway. Gas station next door. Pool is big and has a little pool for little kids. My 5 year old grandson loved it. Town is 2 minutes in and have several choices of restaurants. Staff is very polite and helpful.
My room had Dog Smell, Rooms need to be desginated as non pet or pet. I asked that question at the front desk and was told that sometimes they put pets in non pet rooms. So the designation really does not matter then. I had a bad night sleep due to the oder. I was not about to pack up all my stuff and relocate. Complaint was made to front desk . I ended up buying my own air fresher and used the entire can. Was not happy. Overall this is a very nice place just the Dog smell ruined it for me. At 150 a night I expected more when i complained about the smell.
I stay at this hotel every time that I visit Sterling (about once a year). It is very nice to have parking right outside the room. There are no other hotels in Sterling that compare to the quality and comfort that this hotel offer.
This hotel was conveniently located, on my way to LA , Love the place was clean especially breakfast was very delicious did not expect much but I was very surprised how clean and stocked up all the items were all the staff members that I have come across with all friendly Will definitely stay there again if I'm in the town
The Best Western Sundowner in Sterling, CO was a perfect overnight for my husband and myself after a long drive. It was super clean, cool and quiet. The room was spacious, comfortable King size bed and continental breakfast worked for us...
Very clean rooms and good breakfast. The staff is extremely helpful, friendly, and go out of their way to ensure you are having a good stay. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Nice hotel that is kept updated. Great place to stay.
Disgusting, mildewy, doors to rooms won't open without many trys, no elevator, dirty. Had to carry dogs up two flights of stairs while breathing mildew and mold. Dog area full of sandburs. No maintenance man on duty to fix door problem. Poor place to stay. Don't do it and waste your money.
Convenient location for our half-way point between Iowa and the Rockies. The exterior is unique, but the interior seems updated. Large, clean room with very comfortable beds. Staff was helpful and friendly. We would stay here again without hesitation.
We live in Colorado and we're returning from a long driving trip this past week. We were getting tired after 16 hours and decided to stop instead of pushing home. We have never stayed in eastern Colorado but we were very pleasantly surprised to find such a nice hotel in this part of the state. Actually it was the nicest we stayed at on our trip. Nice size rooms, comfortable beds, shower was very nice and the room was already cooled off when we walked in. Great place to stay!!
Staff was very professional and went out of their was to be helpful. Upon check-in, found floor needing cleaning and unidentified hairs in bathtub, commode not flushing properly(5 or 6 times to just get tissue to "go down." Priced way over 'value' of room, there is no comparable competitor in area, thus "Price Gouging" for guests wanting a quality room. With the "Over Pricing" reduced overall value of stay to near zero. Will "NOT" recommend this hotel to anyone.
Best place in Sterling. Handy location. Excellent and responsive Staff. We stay here each year. All the amenities you need. Good breakfast; lots of variety; typical of Best Western. Quiet and restful.
We attended a wedding and had a great overnight stay. Arrived late and hotel was very accommodating. Clean rooms, nice to have the room air conditioned, as the temp was in the high 90's. It was nice to have a microwave and mini fridge in the room as well.
This has been my third stay here and have been pleased with everyone...The staff have been top notch, polite and professional...I very much enjoyed the breakfast every morning...The location was great, close to downtown, restaurants, and the interstate highway...I plan on a future stay in October....
Clean, quiet, has some nice open grassy treed areas to relax. Will absolutely stay here again. Staff are very friendly and treat you like family. Rooms are clean and well stocked. Very good breakfast.
On our way to Colorado Springs we spent the night at the Best Western Sundowner. We arrived late and were checked in quickly. The room was clean, beds were comfortable, shower had good pressure. We were close to the breakfast room and took advantage of breakfast in the morning. It was busy but there were plenty of choices. Check out was easy and everything was great. I received a great rate by joining the Best Western rewards program.
This hotel offers a clean, nice place to spend the night. The suite was very spacious. The indoor and outdoor swimming pools were great. I was pleasantly surprised at how great this hotel was. I would definitely stop here again. Everyone was very friendly.
All around pleasant and helpful staff - from front desk concierge, to cleaning staff, to breakfast staff! Rooms are cheerful and modern. Bed mattresses were soft in comparison to most other BW where we have stayed. Outdoor pool & hot tub are in a beautiful setting because views of a park are across the way; it is only a pity that the outdoor pool & hot tub are not open/not usable at this time. However, there is a smaller indoor pool good for kids and the fitness center is sunlit and surrounded by Windows.
The check in was pleasant. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Breakfast has some room for improvement but was free. Construction going on near intersection but will be very nice when completed. Free internet worked well. I did use the gym or pool facilities.
Best westerns are usually nice and I've always had good experiences. Even this hotel was nice and the staff was wonderful but there were things that can be improved. The price wasn't exceptional (I think all hotels are over priced these days though) but considering there isn't much to offer in Sterling I booked a room. They're no smoking however our room smelled of old smoke and my children even commented multiple times before I could even complain about it. Breakfast wasn't great. Food was cold and honestly tasted horrible. But the rooms were clean had a pool and our beds were comfortable. My husband works out if Sterling so I will stay there again to visit him, just hopefully these small things can be improved next time I stay.
With a storm soon upon us, we called the hotel for rooms. The only one left was one with the bathroom light and fan disconnected due to electrical problem. There were other lights which were working over the vanity, so we made the reservation. We had an exterior entrance as well as an inside hall entrance into our room. Tricky to get to hotel with current construction. Staff very pleasant. Room pricey, but clean. Noise level high as we were across from exercise room. Breakfast area was attended by personnel that kept dishes warm and full. Nice breakfast.
This is a very nice hotel - very clean and well maintained. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. The rooms are large and clean. Bathrooms are somewhat small. Lots of construction in the area when we were there - extremely difficult to access the hotel. Two stories - no elevator.
Overall pleasant stay. Traveled through and only spent one night. Convenient travel local and nice area for the dogs to stretch their paws. Room had enough room to not feel crowded, but just enough for the 2 adults and 2 dogs. Breakfast was ok with basic amenities. Room was clean, hotel was quiet that night and we would stay again
All was quite nice except for no password authentication for internet access. With an open internet connection anyone down the street or in the parking lot could have access to your sensitive information.
We stayed here a couple of nights as it came recommended. While there is street work in progress in front of the hotel, it is easy to enter and exit the property. The hotel to include our room was nice. The bed was comfortable and the staff responsive to my questions. I thought the price was reasonable for our stay and would stay there in the future should I return to Sterling.
I stayed for a one night business trip and rented a single king room. The bed was comfy and all the amenities were as you might expect for a hotel stay. The only issue I had was NOISE! There was a kids sports team staying at the hotel on the same floor as I and though they weren't being rudely loud, the walls and front door area to my room was paper thin. I could hear every conversation as people walked down the hall, every knock on a door, every giggle.... you get the picture. I ended up putting my coverlet on the floor to block noise coming in from under the door. That helped a little but the whole entry way area is so thinly insulated, I could still hear a lot of hallway traffic through the night.
I really enjoyed my room it was soooo cozy, we slept so good!! The girl ( I wish I would have remembered her name but I'm so bad with name)who worked on the breakfast was so nice and kept the place so clean! She went above and beyond! I was happy to see her ever morning!!! The hotel was so nice! I will stay there again or recommend it to my family!!!
I've stayed here a few times for work. It fills the bill for a place to stay with a comfortable bed, an average work area in the room and good enough bathroom facilities. The exercise rooms is okay when everything is at least working. My last visit the tread mill and stationary bike did not seem to work along with I could not get the TV go to a working channel. I was able to use the elliptical which was good enough, but it was not the most stable piece of equipment. This hotel has an indoor pool, but no indoor hot tub and they do not have the hot tub outside open in the winter. They also have any outdoor pool (but I've only been there over the winter time). Overall the staff is friendly and attentive and it's not a bad place to stay. Hopefully you don't have anyone above you, because they are pretty loud when the walk around especially at midnight-1 AM. The breakfast could use healthier options or just a bit more variety in general. I've been to other Best Westerns that have fresh fruit (not just apples) and one has a person that makes omelets fresh. Unfortunately this one they seem pre-made and frozen. I've had worse breakfast though.
We stayed here during our recent visit to Sterling for a funeral. We had a room in the back of the motel. Great parking, very quiet, Outside entrance as well as inside. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Room was beautiful and clean. The complimentary breakfast was great. The only problem we had was the first night, there were young boys in the room above us and it sounded like they were bowling. They did quiet down eventually so all was well. We definitely would stay here again if we travel thru.
The beds were very firm but the hotel was very clean and the staff was wonderful! I saw many staff members take initiative to make guests' stay wonderful. One girl was doing the breakfast bar and ask an elderly couple if they needed help out to their car. We need more people like her in the world. Room was very clean. Very spacious.
We stayed here overnight while visiting relatives. Our room offered one king-size bed, along with the expected amenities. We were on the main level, with French doors out to a little patio. They were undergoing remodeling, but nothing disturbed us before we left in the morning. Of interest: the Overland Trail Museum was an easy walk from this hotel.
For over ten years this motel 100 miles between Denver, CO and North Platte, NE is a quick and easy stop on quick road trip. Welcoming service, good amenities, typical motel breakfast and quick access to the interstate.
We have traveled the I-76 route often over the years. I'm always looking for a new place to stay so I have more options . This is a nice place .The room was sorta up-scale but the bathroom had not been remodeled possibly.Yet it was clean and nice The free breakfast area was very good: big plus a lot of food choices. I'm not in to working -out but they have a very nice exercise area. They have weights and a few machines. The in-door pool is clean but a little small. However they have a big out-door pool area: it was winter so I will have stop when its summer !
The property was clean and orderly even though it was being remodeled. The breakfast ended a bit early I think for a Sunday. The staff was capable and willing and the properties amenities were in good shape.
This hotel was near where I was working the week I stayed there, so it was conveniently located for me. It doesn't seem there are too many choices in Sterling but a Holiday Inn is being built across the street. I was on the first floor and it was mostly clean. They could've swept the carpet better. The decor is southwestern, so outdated even if it's new. My room had a door to the outside from inside my room. I could go out that door but it wouldn't let me in from the outside. That actually made me feel better about that door! The breakfast area is very nicely decorated and the free breakfast was a cut above the Holiday Inn breakfast I usually eat.
The room was clean, very roomy and had a jacuzzi in the room, as well as an indoor pool down the hall. The pool was big enough to do laps and there was a hot tub there also. Breakfast in the morning was also very good and in a nice dining area.
You're overcharged for an average hotel since this is the only decent one around. Got stuck in Sterling for 3 days and the town was boring. The free breakfast was better than expected. Lots of flies and smells like cigarettes.
We were happy to find the Sundowner after a long 11 hour cross country drive to start our Colorado vacation. Quiet, clean, with comfortable beds. Great décor. I liked your black&white photography in the rooms and hallways. Breakfast was good. Convenient to highway. Once again Best Western didn't let us down!
This hotel was very clean, very friendly, quiet and met all my expectations. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The fitness center was AMAZING, lots of light because of windows and a great selection of equipment. It is definitely the place to stay in Sterling! I will stay again while I am in town on business.
We had a good stay at the BW Sundowner. The room was nice. The staff were great. They even had popcorn made in Sterling for guests in the room. The breakfast was complete and even had GF options, which is rare. We were really pleasantly surprised by the hotel. We're glad we ended up there on our way through to Denver.
Good Hotel with lots of amenities. Located right off of the I-76. Good breakfast and an excellent staff. They will help with all of your needs. Parking is convoluted though. The layout is wrong and has several choke points. Pray you don't have a trailer.
The BW Sundowner should have been great. Room was nice, desk staff was friendly, bed was comfortable, blah blah blah. So you are asking why the crappy rating? Simple, I do not appreciate the house keeping staff going through my possessions. I like even less when they decide to steal my things. Stay away if you value either your privacy or your personal property!
We stayed here on our way to and from Utah. We asked for a room on the first floor since there aren't elevators. Our request was granted. Very clean but a little outdated. Breakfast was fine but nothing special. The front desk clerk was very nice and gave us some great suggestions of restaurants. We would stay here again.
For a chain facility, this hotel was quiet, clean, and comfortable. The staff was friendly too. Breakfast is included in the price. We had a large room on the second floor with a king size bed. Our room overlooked the pool.
Sterling was the fourth and last of a four day marathon series for my wife. We found the hotel to be clean , very comfortable with pleasant staff. It was conveniently located near to the marathon site. The only issues was that my Garmin could not locate the street address and it is a two story hotel without an elevator and we were roomed on second floor. Usually this is not a problem but when your legs are spent from running stairs are not fun. Otherwise a great stay!
This hotel offers 5 star service at a family friendly rate. Clean rooms, friendly service. Breakfast offered a nice variety of hot and cold items. Guest Laundry was near our room, so we took advantage of the opportunity to catch up on doing laundry. Only glitch was the dryer vents had both become unconnected, so the small room filled with condensation. Solved problem by propping open the door, and notifying staff. Issue was dealt with immediately.
Drove over 6 hours and around 7:00pm needed a nice comfy bed. They were able to get us a room on the first floor with 2 queen beds. Check-in was quick and even had cookies at the desk. Room was very large, modern and neat. Included exterior and interior doors. Room included small fridge and microwave. Had indoor and outdoor pool with grilling area, indoor fitness room, vending and ice machine. Breakfast was very good and included in the rate. Nice place, more expensive than the others but was worth it for us because it included breakfast and we wanted comfortable beds. We would definitely use this hotel again. Used AAA discount.
We just finished a 12 hour drive from Illinois. We had reservations here and was greeted with a friendly staff member after very long day of driving. Our room was clean and roomy. Perfect for a nights rest. The morning "breakfast included" meal was very good. It was a buffet of eggs, add your own cheese and ham. Biscuits and gravy, yum. Make your own waffle. Or if you like bagels and cream cheese. Cereal and fruit. Fruit and yogurt. Juices and the all important coffee! This is a great place to land after a long drive.
Loved my room - 136 - outside and inside entrance - comfy and very nice. The only reason this hotel did not get 5 stars - the creamer for my coffee was powder - they did have flavored 1/2 & 1/2 but only a powdered version for those of us who don't like flavor in our morning coffee. Staff was wonderful.
Our family arrived late in the night & check in was easy & quick. Staff was friendly. Beds & pillows were comfy. Breakfast was yummy, filling & well stocked. Dining area was clean as well. Outdoor heated pool was a bonus for the kids. Indoor pool was closed for repairs. Would visit again..
Just needed a place to sleep while traveling. Comfortable beds, quiet room, friendly staff. Had a fridge in our room. Breakfast was delicious-waffle maker, yogurt bar, build your own breakfast sandwich and more. Would definitely stay here again.
The room was nice and clean but it was more like a motel. You parked outside your door. I felt a little unsafe. Breakfast was good. Fresh cookies at check in. The in room coffee was pretty good. Front desk lady was nice. I would probably stay there again. Sterling does not have many places to choose from.
I've stayed at the Sundowner a couple of times in the past few years. It is clean, well managed and pleasant. However it is overpriced. That being said, one pays the price if one doesn't want bed bugs and cockroaches as your guest. I've also stayed at the Ramada (about a mile away) and you get extra guests there.
Was like a bad Super 8 but way overpriced. Location was right off I76 but there's not much around it. Wish there had been a thermostat...was too warm in the room for me. Seemed clean enough. Outside entrance was nice to have. Had good internet. Too bad the room smelled like a locker room!
Close to interstate made it very convenient. Nice property with indoor and outdoor pool. Nice lobby and workout area. Rooms have 2 doors, 1 to the parking lot and the other to hallway. The breakfast was better than most, the sausage patties were done perfectly, not limp and greasy like most motels. The premade little omeletts had toppings available which improved them a lot! Good toppings for oatmeal and waffles. The curtains in the room kept it nice and dark and walls were thick enough that we felt like the only guests. Nice friendly staff. The woman in charge of the breakfast was friendly and efficient. Please tip her! We would definitely stay again if in the area.
Room and breakfast excellent, enjoyable out door pool, parking lot for our room a little rough for motorcycles, surprised at the number of places to eat in small town, also right off the exit of the highway.
Great place for a pet, and kids the location close to everything outside entrances to make unloading you vehicle easier and the also have a inside door right to the vending and ice machines also the breakfast, good place to stay
Appearance of motel was very pleasing, clean, and attractive. All staff was neat, cheerful, and always willing to go out of their way to be helpful. Breakfast was great - many choices of food and an ample supply of everything. Pool looked very clean. I really appreciated having a room with an outside entry way. This was the 2nd visit to this motel and it was great both times.
There were only steps up to lobby outside door, no ramp. One side of building had only steps up to outside doors to rooms. There was a ramp up to one side of building. Gracious hostess. Pet friendly: she changed us out of a musty room. One of the most comfortable beds of trip for me, 300 pounds.
This hotel was a welcomed sight after driving for 14 hours. We were greeted by a friendly staffer who quickly, checked us in. The hotel is clean and offers a decent breakfast. The only drawback was that there isn't any elevators on the premises (two floors).
We had read good reviews and weren't disappointed. The staff was great, our room was lovely and we really enjoyed it. We had 130, which is a corner room in the rear of the motel in the first floor. We could park by our room, which as nice since it had a inside and outside doors. It was large, well appoints and vey comfortable. Nice TV and quiet. Sterling has a lot of dining options and the town has a very pretty square with a courthouse and many restored old homes. Definitely will go back.
They have renovated this hotel and the lobby and rooms are very nicely done. Great decor, rooms are nice and spacious. Clean. This is definitely beyond what you would expect from a hotel in Sterling. Good family pool, indoor and outdoor. Not fancy pools but perfect for cooling kids off after long road trips.
We stayed here for one night, having stayed once before a few years ago. The room had an outside and inside access (ground floor) as I had requested the ground floor for easy unloading of our motorcycle. There was a small fridge and microwave and the sink and vanity were in the main room with the toilet and bathtub/shower in a separate room. There was a wardrobe instead of a closet so our clothes shared this with the ironing board and it got a little crowded. Like I said, it was one night. The breakfast was mediocre with no fruit but with lots of other carbs. There no butter for the waffles or toast just country crock and lots of syrup and Reddi-whip. The structure is quite thin as I could hear running above us and talking in the halls the entire time.
Wife and I heading back to Nebraska and decided to bed down in sterling. Although motel was older and carpets showing some wear it was clean and neat with newer furnishing. Definitely was being taken care of. Room was very nice and ac worked well and was pretty quiet too. As we looked around we were really quite pleased with how nice everything was. Desk very friendly and attentive. Only reason for rating was they charged almost $200 for the night. Last room available so we could take it or not. Normal pricing would be well worth it
We were told by family in the area that this is probably the best place to stay and it probably is. Still, not what I would call great. It was adequate. Some covering out by pool would have made it usable. Didn't want to be out in the sun!
It was ok, as far as being tired and needing a room at the last minute is concerned. The first floor hallway smelled a bit flatulent. This place is old and dated, or at least appears that way. Check in was fast, although the clerk, Angel(?), explained the 'no weed' policy with a little too much zealousness. She left me feeling slightly uneasy, and maybe a little paranoid now. So, I open the door to my room, and the smell of weed hits me. I don't care that it did, I just didn't want a $200.00 cleaning fee tacked on to my bill, so I informed Angel my room already smells like weed. Anyway, I slept well, there is an interesting looking museum right next to this place, and a liquor store within walking distance.
We chose this hotel for a business trip. We were very pleased with the staff, the quality of the hotel and its amenities, especially with regard to cleanliness. The staff was very friendly and eager to help, and the whole experience was just great. We were there for only one night in Sterling, but if I ever stay there again, it will be here.
The front desk and housekeeping staff is great. We especially appreciated the general manager, Krista who was very professional and supportive in helping us resolve an issue. Michelle at the front desk even helped us with getting our car fixed. Also very nice rooms, pool, and breakfast. We would stay here again for sure!
Easy to get to from the interstate! Great pet-free room. (Love pets. Don't have any.) Great staff. Very nice breakfast. We had a large room, first floor with outside access. Really nice arrangement for an overnight stay. Front desk guided us to a good restaurant for dinner.
We were pleasantly surprised by our accommodations at this hotel. We stayed in a suite which was really two rooms with an adjoining door. However, it was lovely, spacious and well laid out. We had ample room for everyone to have their own space. The bathroom was extremely large with an additional sink right outside. There was plenty of "getting ready" room which is often not the case in a hotel. The staff was exceptional. Especially the young woman who was there when we checked in. We had some issues with our TV and she was extremely helpful in resolving them. We would definitely stay here again.
We have probably stopped at the Sundowner for more than 20 years. We have relatives in Colorado and also vacation there often. it's our first night out when coming form Lincoln. We continue to stay there because we have never been disappointed. The people are always so cordial and helpful! the rooms are clean and that's very important to me. the kids have always loved the pool. It's been a while since we have been and it has been remodeled. Very nice! Breakfast was great. There was an attendant all the time making sure everything was filled. There were a few different options like a yogurt station and selections to add to your omelet. When my husband and grandson went to get at map the lady at the desk inquired where we were headed and when we told her she was afraid our route might be closed due to floods. She checked with roads department and called is in our room that night with the information. Very nice of her. Excellent customer service and friendly.
I was pleasantly surprised by this best western, in my travels I usually try and stay at a Hampton or holiday inn.. I've had some bad experiences with bw in the past. When all the hotels from sterling to Denver and in Denver were full, I had to stay here. I'm glad I did! I will stay again. I didn't have a shower curtain and the cost was plenty high ($200).. But everything else was good! Giving it three stars because of cost, but would definitely recommend.
This hotel appears to be newly-refurbished from a much-older facility. Layout is retro, but the rooms are up to the latest modern standards. Arrived in the early evening and was lucky enough to nab one of the front rooms with both interior and exterior exits. It was like being in a hotel and a motel all in one. We were able to park right outside our room, then pulled the curtains over the glass door and we were in a hotel. The room was large and extremely well-appointed, with refrigerator and microwave, flat screen TV with great channel selection. Front desk and housekeeping staff all very friendly, and the centrally-located breakfast area was very convenient. We ended up not using the pools. There was a small indoor pool and a larger pool outside with adjacent hot tub. The price of the room was somewhat higher than I expected for a fairly rural location in the Great Plains, but the amenities we had here couldn't be beat. Oh, and yummy cookies at the front desk upon check-in! Easy access from I-76.
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Bed was comfortable, room was clean and arranged efficiently. We had the whirlpool room, with refrigerator, and microwave. The continental Breakfast offered a good variety of food. Only complaint was that the hot food was not as hot a we like, but a microwave was available for use, so in 45 seconds, our food was piping hot and delicious. Used the WIFI internet, and had no problems with it. The location was also a plus, as you didn't need to drive into the town to find the hotel. Will stay here again.
I stay at the Best Western Sundowner every time I go to Sterling. It's a very nice facility, with a friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable, and for those who travel with pets, the rooms have doors that open to the outside, and there's a park right next to the hotel. It's a perfect layout!
We have stayed here before and always try to when possible. We even plan ahead to make sure we time it right. Warm, friendly, clean place for a nice nights stay. Kids love the pools, yes that is plural. They always allow us the use of their dining room in the evening so we can order in pizza for our group of Scouts.
I want to commend the entire staff at the Sundowner for an excellent experience. Between the large clean room, the welcome bottles of water and flavored popcorn in the room and the helpful desk clerk who went out of her way to make a fresh pot of hot water for the lobby so I could have tea at 11PM when I checked in. Overall a wonderful experience.
From the friendliest check-in of any property on our recent trip to an equally friendly check-out this was a pleasant stay. The landscaping was attractive, the lobby pretty, the room well designed, and a really nice breakfast room was found as well. I always feel a bit down when heading east after a western trip, but this stay helped with that a bit. For those traveling the east/west corridor I would d finitely recommend considering a stay here.
It had a small shop, that had quite a few things to purchase, and it would have been cheaper than going to an actual store. There was also a pool both indoor and outdoor, and a kiddy pool only a foot deep. It was a very modernized style hotel.
I'm not a fan of Best Western, the entire operation can be hit or miss, usually miss. This particular property is wonderful. Front desk was always covered and the pools were really, really nice. Remodeling occurred, choices for the rooms were Hiltion'esc. Breakfast was typical fare. I stayed in room 126, hot tub. Worth the extra $20 a night. Clean, clean, clean. Quite too. Sheets were clean, and maid service was prefect. I stay in hotels 40 weeks a year. I found a great place in Sterling. There are few new hotels breaking ground but they had better be on their game. Cheers!
Our experience at the Sundowner was great. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The pool was very nice. Breakfast could have varied from day to day, but it was fine for a short stay. This is the ONLY nice place to stay in Sterling.
Room was really clean and modern. Staff was so helpful. The breakfast bar was one of the best I've had with strawberry waffels and omlettes! Coffee was always available in the lobby. Free wi-fi and work out room. I will definitely stay here again!
I would recommend this hotel and when back in the area this will be the place we stay. It was very easy to find and get to. Breakfast had a good variety. The pools were both nice and plenty of chairs around them to sit on. Rooms were clean and spacious, we had reserved a double queen and a king room but the double queen wasn't available. Still had plenty of room for everyone. My only complaint would be there is only one ice machine for the entire motel. Not a big deal but for some rooms it was a good walk.
I would definitely return to this hotel. The manager was very helpful. The complimentary breakfast was good, and I appreciated the coffee maker in the room. The swimming pool was important as well to the children.
We stopped here on our way through town. It is conveniently located right off the highway. We did not have a reservation as we were not sure how long we wanted to travel that day, but the front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was clean, bed was a little firmer than I prefer, but that is personal preference. Room was a little pricey, but not terrible. Only downside is there are no restaurants particularly close, you have to drive several miles.
This hotel is full of nice little surprises from the beautiful, stylish lobby furniture to the snack shop. From the nice pool area surrounded by grass & shrubs instead of bare concrete, to an indoor pool for winter. From the fresh paint on the exterior to the oversized rooms. From the door directly to our car out front to the island in the middle of the pool to sit on. It goes above and beyond.
Nice clean large room with plenty of room. Out doors pool very warm! Breakfast was fantastic,They had the best waffles and coffee we have had in a long time. One minor problem, they have no elevator so if you are handy capped please ask for a 1st floor room.
We found the room very comfortable and easy to adjust the temperature, etc. The room was clean and quiet. It might have been nice to have had an easy chair. There were plenty of surface places for luggage, etc.
We love staying here. Anytime we need to stay in Sterling we stay here. We enjoy the outdoor pool when it is nice and the staff is always great. Love going back there. There is a museum within walking distance and outside tables. Very nice place to stay.
Thus little place has it all, Pet friendly, pool in and outdoor ,hot tub, gym, home made cookies ABD breakfast. Very good staff. We had a tornado alert, seriously and they were swift with instructions and calming words
The Sundowner can be always be counted on. I've been staying here for years. The staff is very accommodating and the rooms are clean and were renovated sometime in the past decade. Very convenient location close to the interstate and motel breakfast. They also have quality coffee and tea. Don't plan on streaming any HD movies. The satellite wifi is so slow that it took ten minutes to write this review.
The Sundowner is the best hotel in Sterling. We always stay there when we"re in town. They have a variety of breakfast items...something for most everyone. We love the Grab N Go bags. The hotel staff is always warm and inviting.
Certainly a nice enough hotel, comparable to all the others we stayed in during our 12-day trip, however, this was the most expensive room (even with an AAA discount). Perhaps the availability of other hotels in the vicinity raises the price??
We came in after a long drive. Place looked great and we had both an entrance from the hall and from the parking lot to our room Very easy. Food great. Could tell all the hotel guests having good experience from chatting to them at breakfast.
Great Service, Friendly staff willing to make your stay a pleasant one. The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet. The breakfast was above average for the quality of food normally served at other competitive hotels.
I try and always stay at Best Westerns when I am on road trips. I find they have all been remodeled and the employees are consistently over the top kind and go out of there way to accommodate our needs. The Best Western Sundowner in Sterling stayed true to my expectations. I would highly recommend.
This is the best hotel in Sterling. It's been nicely updated, has fantastic indoor & outdoor pools for the kids, wonderful breakfast, and always comes with a sample bag of Sterling's own Colorado Popcorn Company popcorn as an extra touch. The staff & grounds are always welcoming & inviting. We stay here every time we come to Sterling. Highly recommended!
The office staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast is great, and the rooms are spacious and luxurious. The pool is a little small and shallow, but overall a good experience. The cookies at the front desk are an added bonus!
We had a very nice room on the main floor with both a door to the interior corridor and one to our vehicle parked right outside. The breakfast was good and was served in a nice atmosphere. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in the area.
During a stay of two nights at the Best Western Sundowner in Sterling we enjoyed a large, very clean room, excellent breakfast in a clean, well-attended breakfast area, and a welcoming and helpful management. We chose it because of the good reviews on TripAdvisor and the establishment certainly met our high expectations. Our only regret was not having time on this trip to visit the museum next door.
Stay here regurally for business. Have no complaints. Good breakfast- if you don 't want the typical hot hotel breakfast then plan to eat elsewhere. Beds are very comfortable and the rooms are spacious.
The hotel was beautiful and the staff was extremely friendly. The breakfast was hot and plenty of options. The pool was perfect for our little one. All and all if back in Sterling this would be the place to stay.
We stayed at this hotel for a night in January, 2016. This was a great little hotel. The hotel had lots of small details normally only found at larger hotels. The breakfast was great, the room was comfortable, customer service was top notch. We had to get up early and leave. Otherwise it would have been nice to spend more time there. Location was easy to get to off the interstate. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Very nice hotel - very clean, large size rooms and very comfortable. Breakfast was good. hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. nice to have both indoor and outdoor (seasonally) pool options. best place to stay in Sterling!
room 134 Deluxe King Slow check-in on Sat. late afternoon--only one person at desk; the gentleman was welcoming and efficient once at the desk. The type of room requested only available on 1st floor (always try to stay on top floor) so went with first floor. Room was unusual in that it had two entry doors--one to parking directly in front of room (handy) and one into interior hallway. The room was a large, comfortable room. Noted was the high level of cleanliness. Plenty of lamps for reading & working. Amenities included a lounging chair with ottoman, microwave, fridge, separate vanity/sink , and décor of pleasant warm tones and western scenes. Location is close enough to I-76 to be convenient but not so close that there was any highway noise. Motel is directly across street from Overland Trail Museum and close to open space next to river. Breakfast was standard "free breakfast" fare--good enough to not have to go somewhere else. Never did find a tv channel guide in room. The bed was at the very firm end of the scale. The bath/toilet room door was at an angle such that leaving the light on in that room was disturbing to the sleeping area. We would stay here again if in Sterling.
On a road trip and needed a place to sleep for the night with two kids. We opted for a two room "suite" for a few $ more than a standard room. It was really setup more like two adjoining rooms which was fine for us and well worth it when travelling with the kids. The suite was recently updated and clean.
We wanted to place to stop on the way to Steamboat Springs, Colorado.and this hotel was about as far as we wanted to drive.Staff was very friendly and welcoming. You could hear people in the hallway but we did not have an issue with this during the night. The pool had a lot of chemicals in it, which irritated our eyes. Breakfast was very good, warm and fresh. Check out was easy. Same staff as the day before, very friendly. No issue staying here again. The pizza from Jimmy's is worth the call. Easy access from the interstate.
This hotel is located in a prime location, it is right off the highway and less than 5 minutes from downtown and about 10 minutes from shopping and more restaurants. From the moment I walked into the doors, I was impressed, I was greeted with smiles and my reservation was held even though I didn't arrive until after 10pm due to the snow. Everyone I encountered was friendly and professional. I felt safe and at home and I will stay at the Best Western Sundowners next time I am in Sterling Colorado. I feel like I now have a new "Home away from Home" in Sterling.
After long day spend in the car, we stopped for the night. Hotel was very nice - nicely decorated. But: Our room was located right above breakfast area. Pretty much, if you opened the door and looked down, you were looking into breakfast area. First, 2 boys were sitting there until early morning - talking, which was very annoying. Then, I could hear staff preparing for breakfast, moving chairs, bringing food and then once ppl start coming for breakfast, it felt like there were right behind the door. It was very loud. :-( We would stay again, but maybe on the other side, away from noise.
Lovely staff and great room for our girls' trip of talking, laughing and playing cards! The room was extremely clean and very comfortable. We also enjoyed the pool and a good breakfast...the strawberry waffles were delicious!
The staff that was there was good. All but one cleaning person called in "sick" the day that all the teams were showing up for the tournament. This made check in time very late then resulting in making game prep time very difficult!
Rooms were very clean! I love the balconies attached to every room, I enjoyed my stay here. They have an indoor and an outdoor pool as well as a BBQ grill in the outdoor area. Gym was awesome... included a stationary weight set. I was pleasantly surprised as I wasn't expecting the BW in a small town to be so nice! I'd stay here again.
Always clean, they allow our pets, the decor is updated and the beds are comfy. What more can you ask for? We always stay here on our way to ski country and have never been disappointed. Kathie at the front desk was particularly nice at check in today.
This is the only hotel I want to stay in while in Sterling, CO. It's great. I always feel safe and clean. I'm not concerned about sleeping under the covers or whatever. Unfortunately, I have been to a hotel where I had that concern.
Hotel was very nice on the inside. Outside looks a bit sketchy and the road on the way in is rough. A little more expensive than Comfort Inn. Front desk workers were very attentive and nice. Hotel is a little far from town.
Wonderful place to stay. My stay was due to business. I appreciate the early breakfast available due to work times. Room was comfortable and clean and love the decor of the room and the hotel. Staff were pleasant and very helpful in my needs. Love the pillows you use in the rooms...very comfortable.
Nice rooms, updated designs, great breakfast assortment, friendly staff. We weren't ready for the aromas of cow country so it would be helpful if they had a filtration system for that. But there was no getting around the feed lot odors anywhere in town. Still, the best, hands down, hotel and across from a terrific museum.
We were completely satisfied by our stay here. It is an excellent for its price range. The room was roomy, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was a typical hotel buffet, well done, with a good variety.
We have stayed at the Best Western Sundowner in Sterling many times and have never been disappointed. The staff is wonderful, friendly and very accommodating. The rooms are very clean, beds are big and deep and warm, large TV and microwave/refrigerator-everything you need. The breakfast spread is carefully attended to, lots of options for a large meal or lighter ones, juice and coffee are abundant. We travel with our Lab. dog and there is a nice little park with grass and tables adjacent to the hotel, the hotel gives out treats and poop bags for their 4 legged friends and everyone picks up their messes, makes for a nice walk in the morning. The Sterling Overland museum is also next to the hotel and if you have time it is a well done museum with great displays, highly recommend that!
Stayed one night for a nearby volleyball tournament for my daughter. The room was clean, the hotel easy to find as it's right off the highway. I had called ahead for a handicap room as I'm recovering from ankle surgery - to find that the two story hotel does NOT have an elevator, which I'm glad I knew ahead of time. The indoor pool is pretty tiny, but they do have a decent size breakfast room that we used for a pizza dinner party. The gentleman Randy at the front desk was super friendly and funny.... it was sold out that night and he was able to check people in quickly and kindly. Overall a nice stay.
This Best Western (and we are Best Western Reward members) exceeded our expectations based on the other reviews regarding the Immaculately clean and comfortable accommodations! This hotel could be a model for others! We even complimented the breakfast attendant who was cleaning the window blinds one by one while she was waiting for the hotel guests to arrive for breakfast. (We ate early; the wonderful breakfast begins at 6.). We plan to stay here again on our next trip back to WI from CO!
I stay here at least once a month when I'm in town on business. The staff is always friendly, courteous, hard-working and effective. The front desk staff are especially good at their jobs. The rooms are always very clean, but never smell perfumey. I look forward to returning to the hotel room after i'm done working.
Its one of the better Best westerns ive stayed at. I love the building and the staff were very nice. Rooms very clean. Definitely would stay again if on Vacation. The scene is not bad. Very nice rest stop across the street very relaxing. Breakfast was good and the pool was awesome .
Driving in near blizzard snow brought me off the interstate. I am so glad it did. This is the friendliest property I have stayed at in such a long time. It was Christmas night. A long day driving. Nothing open in town to get a meal. But the Manager was working so her employees didn't have to. She had made chili for her guests and was so helpful. We had a puppy and he was welcomed as much as we were. What a wonderful overall experience. Will definitely stay here anytime we get close again.
Nice room and clean. We had an updated room which was nice. Linens were good. We were on the 1st floor in the back and it was quiet. The breakfast was average - lots of choices but hot food wasn't very good. The room was overpriced however - should be under $100 for the type of hotel and room.
I have stayed at the other two hotels in Sterling and the Sundowner by Best Western blows the other two away. They have great service and the hotel is clean and nice. The towels were nice and the breakfast was fantastic.
Very nice Best Western. Our room was clean, quiet, and bed was very comfortable. Considering the time of year, we thought the rate was high. May make a difference next visit. The Breakfast was good. The staff was very friendly and made us feel at home.
I stay here every time I come to Sterling. They are easy to get too and the staff has always gone out of their way to help us. The rooms are always clean and lots of towels. Breakfast has always been good with plenty of fruit.
I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in this area or need a quick night location while traveling. Very clean, staff were very helpful. I feel safe as a woman with their "internal" room entrances. They had just worked on the indoor pool and it looked great. We especially enjoyed the morning complimentary breakfast. Although very similar to many other hotel offerings, theirs had extra touches that make it better than most! i.e.: Choices of types of waffles to make, omelets on some days.
We stayed at this hotel on our way to Indiana. When I went to the desk to check-in the man was a bit surly to say the least. Our room was strange and out dated. There was a door to the room in the hallway and a door from the outside like the older drive up motels. I think the property was somewhat rennovated and they just left the outside doors instead of closing them in. Anyway the price for this disappointing room was $152.99 for the night (this was a AAA rate) plus taxes which made the night $171.35. I would not recommend this Best Western for a multitude of reasons but primary would be the value. Overpriced and in need of TLC doesn't equate to a place you want to stay.
Very nice place to stay would refer to family and friends. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with lots of different things to choose from to eat.. Staff was very pleasant and helpful.
Great set-up for our Labs to enjoy during hunting season. We reserve a room months in advance to ensure we don't miss out on this great hotel with wonderful staff. If you decide to sleep in instead of hunting, breakfast is awesome. The green chili is perfect - as well as Breakfast Blend coffee and fresh made waffles.
Helpful clerk that let us check in early afternoon after a very long drive. Good bed and comfortable room. Nice to have TV remote in cover promoting that it is a "fresh remote". Breakfast was ok, no orange juice, just watery liquid.
Hotel is located in a nice setting on the west side of Sterling, away from US 40, the evening receptionist was friendly and wifi saavy when we had problems activating the internet, room was comfortable and well appointed. Would definitely revisit this motel when we are in this beautiful area again.
We stayed here for one night on a longish road trip. We were pleasantly surprised with our room, which was on the ground floor, toward the back of the hotel. This meant we could park directly outside -- and it was also very quiet. Our room looked like it had recently been updated, with nice, modern decor. Front desk staff were friendly and efficient, rooms were spotless, and breakfast was good. The hotel is slightly away from "downtown Sterling", but very close to the interstate. (Not that we could hear it from our room, even while sitting outside of our room -- it was very quiet.)
I was traveling out for business purposes to the Sterling area. This hotel was convenient and easy to access from the interstate. The staff was very helpful from making the reservation to checkout. The room was clean and was very comfortable. The hot breakfast was great in the morning! I would definitely stay here again!
Have stayed at this property several times over the years. The cleanliness is stable, the property is older but in good condition. It is way overpriced for its geographical area. They are the only nice game in town and they know it for a 100 mile radius so I feel they charge according to it. This motel anywhere else is in the $100.00 per night range. The oil boom is over for the time being.
The hotel was clean and the staff is very nice. It' s a little outdated, but it isn't really an issue for me. There isn't an elevator. This is the only acceptable place to stay in Sterling, CO. Trust me I know this for sure.
The room was very clean as was the bath and shower. Front desk was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was above average. We would stay here again if passing through. it is next to a truck stop but was quiet.
From the moment we parked the car and walked through the front door, we knew we had made a good choice of a place to stay. My only regret was that we were only able to stay one night. Sterling is a bit out of the way from big cities, but we received better service than we have in the big city hotels. Krista at the front desk welcomed us as if she'd been looking forward to our arrival. Access was easy since there was both an inside and outside door to our room. The staff was helpful with every question or smiling in greeting when just passing in the hall. Breakfast was attractively arranged, good and the breakfast room was large and inviting. The place was clean, spacious and comfortable. AND there was complimentary gourmet popcorn packaged locally and two water bottles. Who could ask for more? I'd stay here again in a heartbeat - I hope our travels will take us through Sterling in the near future.
Great value, very comfortable suite. There's and extra bonus, mid-afternoon buffet for free. Large comfortable space, friendly staff. Nice breakfast included. I'd stay there again, in fact this is our 3rd time.
