"Great pool!"

We were extremely impressed by the beautiful and large outdoor pool! The water was a perfect temperature! The two indoor pools with slides and lily pads were great for kids. This was a good value in my opinion!

"All "Right" At Ramkota"

07/07/2018

Our first "family" vacation, and after agonizing over locations we settled on "Ramkota" .. And wound up very happy with our choice .. Perched on a hill that faces the expressway, Ramkota is a very large and 'ranch' styled hotel .. Its very accessible from and just enough distance from the parks where its not too far to travel .. Yet far enough away to not be swarmed with vacationers the closer you are to the parks .. The lobby is 'uncommon' clash of ( South - Modern - Western ) .. Strangely it comes off as somewhat "chic" .. The decor is similar throughout the hotel the nearer you are to the front .. I was disappointed I never saw the bar open while there, but the restaurant surely made up for it .. Is very roomy and I think can easily sit 100 or more .. Their breakfasts are phenomenal ( and we never made it to breakfast buffet .. The staff was always friendly and helpful and frequently had useful tips for times and local activities .. But as usual I have to find at least 'one knock' for locations we travel to .. This one being: parking .. Not that parking is actually bad, but the location is so large you literally have to drive around the restaurant and convention center if you have a room in the rear of the hotel ..

We stayed here for a conference. We had a indoor poolside room, so no windows in our cave. We were lucky enough to wake up to kids screaming at 8 a.m. every morning. The room had been renovated several weeks before so several of the outlets didn't work, and the light switch in the bathroom had to be on in order for the TV to work. The bathroom fan didn't work either, so our room was hot and humid between that and the poolside. The update did not include extra outlets or new air-conditioning. We had the air turned to 65, but it never got comfortable. Sleeping was miserable between the heat and the noise of the air conditioner (think 1970's motor inn air conditioning), and the not very comfortable beds. The other downside was that they have a nice sports bar in the hotel, but don't allow anyone under 21 in it after 5 p.m. So we went elsewhere to eat and watch the College World Series. I felt like it was 1978 again and I was a little kid staying in a Holiday Inn Holidome hotel, which was cool in 1978, not so much now. The outdoor pool was nice and there were no screaming kids in that one. The staff was very nice and helpful, and the maintenance men were helpful figuring all of the things in our room that didn't work. Would we stay here again? Probably not. When my kids begged to leave and drive home to sleep in their own beds on the last night of the conference, it doesn't inspire a vote of confidence.

"Comfortable Hotel"

02/07/2018

We stayed at the Ramkota for the first night of our vacation to the Black Hills. The hotel is very nice and easy to find...right off the interstate. We had a one bedroom suite. We asked for a quiet room and that's what we got. They tucked us away in a corner suite and we did not hear a peep. The room is spacious, and had great amenities. We had a beer in the sports bar; nice atmosphere and friendly waitress who gave us some travel tips. We did not eat dinner there; instead we went to downtown Sioux Falls for a bite to eat and hit a local pub after for drinks. The hotel has shuttle service, but they stop pretty early at 9:00. Tip: there is very limited cab service there since Lyft took over. We would have had to wait over an hour for a cab in the rain, as the pub would have closed by then. We do not subscribe to Lyft and I could not access the app as my phone was in airplane mode to avoid roaming charges out of country. Thankfully, the nice gal bar tending used her lyft app to get us a ride and I just paid her. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant the next morning. It was very good and the waitress was really nice and friendly. Wish we could have stayed another night there; Sioux Falls is a charming little city and if we are ever back that way, we would definitely choose the Ramkota again.

"Very Accommodating!!!"

18/06/2018

This hotel is right off I-29, easy access to everything in town but far enough away to feel like a secluded vacation. We stayed here because we had a wedding to attend and it is dog friendly!! There was also a Vietnam Veteran convention of some sort and with all the bikes and people, it still seemed very organized, clean and friendly. With all the extra people, this hotel did great!!!! The room was clean and tidy, the location of our room allowed for us to take our dog right outside without having to go through a bunch of hassle to let her go potty. The bed was very comfortable and the room stayed cool through the hot days!! Plenty on location to keep us from having to go too far.

First check in on June 10 was a breeze. Joe at the desk was very helpful, accommodating, and made sure we got our bonus points and a welcome bag! Room was very nice. On June 14 Coming back from Devils Tower in Wyoming we decided we could not drive all the way home to Indiana and decided to stay at the same hotel. We did not have reservations but there was Joe at the desk and he remembered us! He put us in a beautiful room—so comfy—and he was exceptionally friendly and welcoming! He is a keeper Best Western!

"Fine and Clean"

01/06/2018

The room was clean. The bed was comfortable, the TV was a good size, and there was a fridge and microwave. We found the WiFi to be hopeless, and gave up on it. Milk powder substitute, absolutely horrible. Our pet hate, the plastic shower curtain. Parking was easy, and the service was friendly.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
John, Thank you for your feedback. I apologize for the WiFi issues you encountered and we will look into the issue and try to correct it. Thank you very much for staying with us.

29/05/2018

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay here. It was a great weekend to enjoy the outdoor pool which is rare to find in the midwest any more! We also received a discount coupon for the on-site restaurant which was great for breakfast the next day. Frontdesk staff was very friendly and suite accommodated our family well.

"Nice, clean older hotel"

4
29/05/2018

The hotel is clean and well appointed. Great pool areas. Friendly staff. Hotel is older so there's some disrepair but it is very clean so that didn't bother us. And they looked like they were remodeling rooms. Bed wasn't very comfortable but oh well. We really liked this hotel and will stay again.

"Great Hotel"

28/05/2018

Very nice hotel. Kids loved the indoor water park. The kiddy pool is great for toddlers. All 3 of my kids loved it and had a great experience. There is no lifeguard, so parents have to be more vigilant, but the kids will have a good time.

"Horrible"

22/05/2018

Don't bother reserving a room; you don't get what you reserve. Be sure to check your room thoroughly. Ours had dirty clothes from previous guests and appeared to not even have been vacuumed. We had a horrible time trying to even get into the room as there was a problem with the door handle. This was not just us; guests across the hall also had an issue. Staff wasn't very helpful at all nor did they say or do anything to rectify the situation. I had been here before, enjoyed it and was looking forward to it again before flying it. I was thoroughly disappointed this time and myself nor any of my family/friends/colleagues will be staying here again.

This hotel was clean and bright. All amenities worked well. The staff encountered while walking in the open areas did not seem overly friendly at this location even when we tried to make eye contact with them. the lounge had great food and atmosphere. The waterpark was outstanding and everything worked well.

Checked in on a Thursday and requested a recliner for spouse, who recently had shoulder surgery.Staff was unable to get recliner on Thursday however by late Friday morning a recliner was brought to our room, so my spouse could rest somewhat peacefully, for the remainder of the weekend. A water park was on the premises and was enjoyed the entire weekend. They also have a restaurant and bar & grill in hotel, which we used both while at this location. A morning buffet in restaurant and reasonable prices, on Saturday afternoon we watch some spring college football games and had lunch while there. During the weekend we had meetings in the hotel and then on Saturday evening we had dinner served by hotel staff in a banquet room setting. The service was professional and the service was prompt and service was in a timely manner. Check out was a breeze and we were on the road very quickly! "Hats Off" to Excellent Service!

"Awesome staff helps out stressed traveler "

13/04/2018

So I am someone who travels over 300 days a year. Currently I have been in the road this trip four weeks straight and I was here on business. My scheduled flight for Saturday morning was canceled due to weather so I thought I'd get an earlier flight Friday instead so I checked out of my room early get to airport and then that flight gets canceled due to weather major storm coming so I'm stressed out and been a long couple of weeks and now this . So I call the hotel and Lexie answers she remembers my name immediately I explain my situation to her and her calming spirit eliminates some of my stress because I am already convinced I won't get my room back well not only does she remember my name she states that since I had already paid for the night that even though I checked out early she can get me back in the same room . I'm still a bit stressed but when I show up she already has my key made and has extended my stay just in case they start to sell out due to weather she gets me rechecked in ASAP and back in my same room like I had never left . While I am still bummed my flight was canceled and I'm going to be stuck here from Friday til Monday. I am extremely thankful for the patience and empathy Lexie had for my situation. These days people in customer service roles tend to not be very empathetic to others situations but I could not have asked for a more pleasant experience in a very frustrated situation! Thanks so much to Lexie for her kindness when I was stressed . I would highly recommend this hotel based on my experience with Lexie as well as others not to mention the shuttle from the airport and convenient location ! Lexie you have a bright career ahead of you ! Thanks so much for your help during a difficult time mike Anderson exceptional experience !

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review

"Rude front desk"

1
31/03/2018

When the room was reserved, it was made quite clear that it was going to be used for a young child's birthday party and the question was specifically asked if party guests could swim. We were told this was fine so long as every child swimming as well as every adult and child who would be near the pool whether they were swimming or not. Fine and good. Fast forward to check in. The mother of the birthday girl checks in but forgets to purchase the extra wrist bands (7 at $10) vNo biggie. I run in to purchase the additional wristbands. I approach the front desk clerk closest to the door and she is friendly, professional, and happy to help. I think her name tag said Kim, she had dark hair. The second front desk clerk (shorter with reddish hair) quickly interjects herself into the situation and puts a stop to this purchase, interrupting the transaction and tells me that they don't sell extra bracelets because it just gets too crowded and she couldn't allow Kim to sell me any wristbands. I ask to speak to the manager. The reddish haired front desk clerk disappears for less than two seconds and comes back to say the manager has approved the extra wristbands. I remind her that I hadn't asked her to speak to the manager, I had asked to the manager myself. Suddenly the manager is so far away that she needs to be contacted by radio to please come to the front desk. At this point, I'm highly irritated as it's obvious the red haired desk clerk had lied when she said she had spoken to her manager, because there's no way the manager could have gotten that far away in the space of less than five seconds. I ask the manager to explain all the pool rules so that there were no more surprises and party guests would not be harassed. I am told that all rules are posted and she would speak to her staff regarding politeness. Arrive to room and find it has not been properly cleaned. Toothpaste on the mirrors, the floor was not vacuumed, whitish spots on the back of bathroom door, drip marks on the side of the microwave stand, hair on the bed, etc. just a half assed job all around. At this point we would have refused the room and left had it not been for the child's birthday party scheduled to begin shortly. when we got to the pool we found that very few people were wearing wristbands. So we paid $70 extra dollars to be treated rudely by a redhead since wristbands are in actuality optional. there was a shortage of towels, the second they'd bring a stack it was gone. The children did greatly enjoy the pool area, and while it's age is showing it does appear to be well maintained. We called the desk for extra towels and some trash bags to contain the party mess and that was delivered soon enough. We did also try out room service later and the server who brought it was friendly. The wine tasted watered down but the steak was excellent. If it hadn't been for the red haired front desk clerk we'd probably give this place another try but as it is no way in hell. It's several hours later and I'm still annoyed by the front desk clerks rudeness.

This place is gross! Right inside our room there was a panel to access the ceiling. It was hanging down more than a inch and was absolutely disgusting with dust and debris. The bathroom floor was dirty. The complimentary coffee tasted like sock water and was dirty and messy. Theres no complimentary breakfast not even a bowl of fruit to gab a banana or something and go. If you do want to order their breakfast be prepared 8small portions and big prices.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
I apologize for the poor experience you had at our hotel and I can assure you that your comments will be addressed by our team. Stayed at ramkota with some family and this place is amazing, all the staff is awesome and super helpful they take care of there guests more than any hotel in town. Lexie and Ian helped me all night and I wasn't the easiest guest to deal with I was pretty angry about some stuff in my room but they made everything better and made my stay amazing, if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have had such a great stay! The room was clean. The hotel was concerned about some room wall damage that occurred before our visit, even though we were not bothered by it, and provided us a free breakfast as compensation. Very welcome! A lot of families in the hotel for hockey and basketball games at the Complex.

"Unfriendly Front Desk"

2
09/02/2018

I rarely give poor reviews, and before going public online I try to solve the issue. However, it was not welcomed, and later was unable to get in touch with sales or management. Here is a summary: -Friendly check-in on the night of 2/7/18 -Had a ground level room, upon inspection the window was not locked, this is a safety issue. -Inquired about a late check-out for the following day and was instructed to check in the AM. -I was coordinating a workshop in one of the meeting rooms (was a great room, but very hard to get in touch with banquet staff.) -Asked the front desk for a late check-out, was greeted with an unkind attitude by McKinzey. She claimed that many people inmy group had already asked for a late check-out. I tried to explain to her that it's not my group. (They were locals, who arrived in the morning.) She continued to argue that it is,even after I clarified the meeting room name (Roosevelt) and group name. She STILL persisted to tell me that it's the same group. I didn't argue for the sake of being happy and not right. (Their check-out is 11am, and we don't break for lunch until 11:45am, I tried to explain that to her, especially for the presenter, who physically cannot leave mid-presentation just to pack-up and check-out). I travel full-time for work and stay in hotels at least 5 days of the week, many times all week. I've never had such an issue of a later check-out especially given the circumstances. -I touched base with sales, introduced myself and requested a copy of the direct bill invoice. (Notice, that I had to seek them out). Was hoping to chat to her for a minute, she was rushed but promised that she'll give me a copy of the bill. I did not see her again, and did not receive a copy of the bill. -When I was checking out, I let them know about a billing mistake, they billed our direct billing account instead of my credit card. I asked to be corrected. Again, McKinzey displayed a facial expression as if I just asked her to move a mountain. She fixed without saying a single word. -One of the worst customer service experiences. -Housekeeping personnel was the only friendly face around.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review

Too many things wrong to list . do not stay here if you can help it. Used to be the cats meow years ago, but is very very bad now. We couldn't say one thing positive about this place other than it is Right next to I-29. Bad Bad Bad, sooo Bad. Worst place we have ever been, we even spent a lot more for suites. Pool side and even probably was worse than a cheap room. Worst time for our family Christmas we have ever had, ever at any hotel. Next time we may have to rent a house lol.

"Great place for kids!"

3
27/12/2017

We booked this room with credit card points and it was listed as one of the cheaper options for 'poolside'. Turns out it was poolside for the outdoor pool. Not ideal in December. However, that did not bother us. It was room 1076 which was right near the indoor pool and waterpark. We checked in around noon and our room was ready. We had our four kids, ages 7, 6, 3 and 2 with us. Kids and us swam until 3:30. Pool wasn't crowded at all, but it was Dec 23rd. The waterslide does not have a minimum height requirement and all four kids were going down the big waterslide constantly. The three year old couldn't touch, but went down alone and we would catch him at the bottom. The 2 year old went down with us. They also have a couple little slides in the zero entry pool. The hotel room itself could use some updating. The bathroom door opened against the bathtub and there was only an inch or two of room between the opened door and the toliet leaving no room to get to the bathtub with the door opened. The drain couldn't keep up with the showering running. We ended up having plans changed at the last minute and didn't even stay the night so we showered and checked out of our room at 5p that night. There were some things in the pool area that needed repairs, but nothing that was a safety concern. The pool maintenance men did pull everyone out of the pool for 5-10 minutes around 1p to add chemicals. They do allow food in the pool area and the nearby Pizza Hut delivered it poolside. Lots of nice chairs to sit in if you'd rather just watch. Great place to go for the quality of the pool and waterpark features. We will be back...just hope they get some updating done before we return.

This is the hotel we most always use when traveling to North Dakota and returning. We enjoy the grounds around the hotel as well as the clean comfortable rooms. We also appreciate the caring and helpful staff at all levels, from check -in to service to check out. And finally, the amenities like the swimming pool and restaurant are excellent.

We stayed here for a 4 day family get together before Christmas. They do many things right. Clean rooms, very friendly staff, great location, fantastic amenities, and the restaurant has some surprisingly good food (buffet...meh). The only thing I would change is the way they make their beds. Very uncomfortable attempt at European style and even the children complained that the beds wouldn't "give them any covers." I remade my bed and asked the housekeeping staff to leave it alone...they didn't.

Thank you very much for choosing us for your family celebration. We appreciate the kind words for our staff and facility. We also love to hear ways we can improve the experience for our guests and we will take your recommendations under advisement. Thank you again for staying with us and we hope to see you again next year.

Staff very friendly. Hotel just off I-29 easy get too. Rooms were very clean and the staff seems eager to help, the young lady at front desk when I sign in, went above and beyond to make sure all questions answer. Hotel is pet friendly, your pet is your family!!

"Great Place for Families"

04/12/2017

This location is great for families with children. The pool areas and water slide are a great amenity for families. The only downside to the pool area was that due to so many families using the pool, there were not enough pool towels to go around. The location of this property is also great if you are attending an event at the Premier Center

The rooms were somewhat noisy and think an option of some white noise would help? Like a alarm clock with a noise option would be helpful just heard lots of water heat vent noises that prevented me to sleep and pillows were lumpy as well

We had a family get together, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the kids and adults had fun in the water park, and the staff were all helpful and polite. We were close enough to the other attractions we were in Sioux Falls to see.

"Won't Come Back"

10/11/2017

I brought my basketball team to play in a tournament in Sioux Falls and I chose to stay at this location last weekend. The reason I chose the Ramkota was because of the pool area and the proximity to where the tournament was being held. The cleanliness of the hotel is poor, it is in need of a major update. There was wallpaper coming off the walls in the bathroom and the fan sounded like an airplane was going to land in the room. Our room was right by an exit and the noise level was ridiculous. I understand when you have a room by the exit it will be a bit noisy but there was a large group of kids staying at this hotel and it was apparent there was not many chaperones because they ran around the halls and pool area and did whatever they pleased. One of my players families even had 3 boys come into their room while they stepped out for a second, luckily nothing was damaged or stolen. I coach multiple teams at the youth and high school level and when we take our teams out of town the hotels we usually stay at will offer some sort of perk for the group coordinator for choosing to bring their teams there. This location doesn't do anything for the group coordinator and didn't even get a thank you. It's safe to say when we return to Sioux Falls for our next tournament at the Pentagon we will be looking elsewhere.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
I am sorry to hear about the issues you experienced during your stay with us. We did have a large group convention at our hotel and I apologize for the noise and the poor manners. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you regarding your stay to try and make it right with you. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] or you can reach me directly at 605-336-0650. Thank you for your feedback.

"Stay again????"

06/11/2017

The Ramkota is easy to find close to the interstate. This was not a great experience because there was a large group of "kids" staying for the weekend also. They were very disrespectful to other customers, and mistreated the facility.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for staying with us and for your feedback. I am sorry to hear of your experience at our hotel. During your next stay with please let us know if your accommodations aren't suitable and we would be happy to move you to another section of the hotel that may be quieter. Thank you again for staying with us and for your feedback.

"Comfy, relaxing & nice staff"

27/10/2017

This BW was easy to find and right near the highway. We chose it because it had outside access doors, and that was good for our dogs. They had a nice grassy area for the dogs. The bed was super comfy, as were the pillows. Water pressure was good, staff were helpful, and lots of electrical outlets to charge up electrical items. I recommend this hotel.

"Staff Amazing, Lobby and main areas beautiful, Beds and pillows horrible"

3
21/10/2017

The lobby and all common areas very nice! Newly updated. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The rooms were OK, nothing wrong with the bathroom but the Pillows and beds were horrible! was there with my sister and mother. All three of us said it was the worse night stay ever. None of us slept. Constantly tossing and turning trying to get comfortable. The pillows were just horrible, several were so huge it hurt your neck and the beds sunk in the middle and were just awful. The lady told us at check in the rooms are being remodeled in 2018. I would like to recommend this place but the #1 reason I was there was for a good nights rest and I did not have a good nights rest.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you did not find our mattresses and pillows comfortable. During your next stay we would be happy to find more suitable accommodations for you and your family. We are excited to let you know that we will soon begin updates to our rooms that will include all new mattresses and furniture. We hope you will return to see the progress.

19/10/2017

The staff was friendly and helpful, but the room we were given was older than ones we've had in the past. The bathroom was in need of updating and the beds and pillows were not very comfortable. There also wasn't a "Do Not Disturb" hanger so the maid knocked on the door while my family was still sleeping.

"Great place Great Price Good Food Great Staff"

16/10/2017

Totally awesome stay! Kudos to all the staff for friendly quick service. Maple Street Grill has awesome food. Hotel easy to find, right off I-29. Expansive parking. Rooms I thought were freshly renovated. Had a very pleasant chat with Mike the Night Auditor as I visited the lobby for coffee that was freshly brewed and delicious! Being a Night Auditor at the Best Western Kelly Inn in Yankton, it was wonderful to have a nice conversation with someone who does what I do! Definitely would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay!!!!

The event and catering staff know what they are doing! Julie C. was detail oriented and made sure I felt comfortable before our conference. Alexander and Evie, as well as the catering lead, went above and beyond all day! Very happy with our visit!

"Very old and run down rooms"

2
13/10/2017

The Ramkota used to be a very nice hotel. Unfortunately it appears they have not put a dime into the rooms in a very long time. The lobby is very nice but once you arrive in your room you may find large wrinkles in the carpet, outdated decor, broken furniture, mildew in the shower, crack in the ceiling, and very old and uncomfortable bedding. I was very disappointed and will not be staying here again in the future.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Tiffany, Thank you for taking the time to speak with me on the phone regarding your stay. Once again, I apologize for the issues you experienced. As we discussed we are very excited for the upcoming renovations to our sleeping rooms that will completely update them. We hope that you will give us another chance and return to see the progress. Thank you again for the feedback.

"Tournament"

11/10/2017

Spent 1 night during a recent tae kwon do tournament located near by. The room was nice and clean and was well maintained. Based on a limited interaction with staff they were all friendly. We did vist the breakfast buffet in the morning. The food was fair at best but the price was reasonable based on the over all quality. I would seek breakfast else where if you can. Over all we enjoyed our stay and will likely be back next year.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Scott, Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to host the tae kwon do tournament every year and we look forward to having you back.

"A good nights sleep"

3
08/10/2017

This hotel / room is what you expect these days. It is a good place to stop to get some sleep while traveling and you need an over night. I did not check out the rest of the hotel but I would probably not stay here (based on our room) for an extended stay (3+ days). It was standard, basic hotel room. The check in staff was not very inviting. The check out staff was nicer but still lacked the pleasant demeanor that seems to have all but disappeared in today's customer service environment.

"Kudos to the front desk staff"

4
05/10/2017

Checked in on Tuesday, got my key cards went to my room and tried unlocking the door...and nothing. I figured I had accidentally put my cards too close to my phone. Went back to the front desk and was helped by McKenzie, she checked my cards, which were okay, and called maintenance and asked them to check the battery on the lock. Maintenance came cleaned the lock and my key cards started working (never checked the battery). On Wednesday evening had similar issues with key cards, took them to the front desk, this time helped by Ivy, she also checked the cards, cards okay, maintenance was gone for the day so a manager just getting off work got me in the room again. Thursday, same issues tell McKenzie the issues are back, she calls maintenance and I go back to my meeting. Come back to my room after some time passed keys still don't work right. So I am guessing the front desk staff did all they could and well, maintenance not so much. Still fighting the lock on Thursday evening. So, Thank You McKenzie and Ivy for your assistance, you gals rock!

"Better hotels for the money"

05/10/2017

Lobby was updated and new, but that's where it ended. Room was older and run down. The carpet between the beds was so sticky we had to wear shoes the entire time. We called and asked specifically about bathrooms in a 2 bedroom suite and were given completely wrong information. Expected 2 because that is what we were told, arrived to 1 for the 6 of us.The water park was not open (the only reason we chose this hotel) and no one told us even though we asked specifically about it before booking and also upon check in. If you are looking for fun with your family there are probably better hotels out there.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, we did have a maintenance issue during your that required us to close our play land pool while we addressed it and I apologize for the inconvenience. I also apologize for the confusion with your reservation as well as the carpet in your room and we will address both issues immediately. We are excited to let you know that we will soon begin renovations to our sleeping rooms that will completely update them. We hope you will return to see the progress.

"50th High School Reunion, hotel rooms, buffet and dance."

5
04/10/2017

I was one of only 2 in charge of planning our weekend reunion events for almost 250 people. The hotel staff offered us a great deal on blocked hotel rooms and continued to add rooms to the block as they were reserved. We also encountered limited parking at a Friday night event not held at the Ramkota. The hotel provided it's shuttle van to shuttle hotel guests to and from a different hotel for that event so the guests wouldn't need to drive. Our Saturday night event at the Ramkota was also a great success. The facilities were perfect and the food was delicious and extremely well presented. Julie Coleman, the event director, was amazing to work with and made many suggestions that were great ideas and greatly appreciated. She and the chef went above board to provide for special diets. Thank you Ramkota for a memorable event.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you very much for your review. We are very happy to hear that your reunion was a success and we appreciate all of the nice compliments for all of our staff. We have an amazing food and beverage team, as well as 60,00 square feet of event space, that works very hard to make events memorable for our guests. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you again next year.

"Great place to stay"

02/10/2017

I generally stay at Best Westerns when I am traveling. I have been staying at the Best Western Ramkota since my kids were in diapers and I feel I have built a relationship with the staff. They remember me when I arrive and always greet me with a smile. They are like staying with family. I also utilize the lounge , restaurant and a few other amenities. Great place to stay, rather it be business or leisure, you can't go wrong.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Michaela, Thank you for the great review! We appreciate all of the comments, but we are especially happy to hear about the great customer service you receive from the staff. We are lucky to have many hard working employees dedicated to providing a great experience for all of our guests. Thank you for staying with us and we look forward to having you back soon.

"Not one of Their best!"

01/10/2017

This Best Western is not one of their better motels. Could use some help from Country Inn Motels. Over all value is way below other Motels of the same standards. So look around before You stay at this Best Western.

"Convention"

3
27/09/2017

I attended a convention at the hotel. I want to say up front that the customer service and staff interaction was exceptional. I only wish the facilities matched the staff. Doors wouldn't shut. Standing water in the shower. My room smelled of either mold or some sort of standing water/moisture. There was staining on the carpet in my room and the hallway. However, if they update the facilities, there would be no issues. Whoever is in charge of hiring people is doing a fantastic job.

"Garth Brooks Concert"

4
25/09/2017

Came to town for a concert and got a room through getaroom.com. Despite the issues we had with the reservation through getaroom the hotel was very helpful in finding us a place to sleep for the night. Thanks to the hotel staff who helped us. The pizza hit the spot after the concert but the restaurant food could use some improvement. All in all 4 out of 5 stars

21/09/2017

I was very disappointed in this hotel, most best westerns have much better up keep. the first thing that happened was they gave me keys to the wrong room. It just went down hill from there. The rooms were dirty and in poor condition. the beds are like sleeping on bricks,

Don't stay in building C. Rooms smell, mold in the shower, Hair in the bed and the sink was broken. The staff didn't seem to care. This is the last time I will stay there. I am a travel agent and I will make sure all of my clients are aware of the issues,

"Worst service ever!!!!!!"

1
18/09/2017

Terrible, check out time is 11:00 am, check in time is 4:00 pm. It is now 7:00 pm and our room is still not ready. Tried checking in at 11:30 and was told the room would be ready at 4 the guaranteed check in time. Came back at 5:00 and was told the room was still not ready, 2 hours later I come back at 7:00 pm just to be told the room is STILL not finished????? What a joke. I have never paid to stay in a room that I can't even check into. I asked to speak to the manager and she informed the front desk she was busy eating and would not speak to us. What a classy group of people they have running this establishment. Can't wait to see how clean this room is after waiting an extra four hours to get in it, on top of the 5 hours they had from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. Worst experience at a hotel I have ever had, and to be treated so disrespectfully by hotel management and the front desk is appalling.

"A lot to like at this Best Western"

5
17/09/2017

We just returned from a 3 night stay at the Best Western plus Ramkota. There is so much to like about this place: * The staff are excellent. They are very accommodating and helpful. Anything you want, just ask, and if it's possible, they will do it. And usually with a smile. * The indoor pool is absolutely over the top. Kids and adults can play here for hours. What a treat. Did not expect to see this at a Best Western. * The rooms are OK. Larger than average and with all the amenities such as coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, super large and comfortable beds and very quiet. * The restaurant and bar are very good. Not very expensive and the quality is fine. Not gourmet certainly but good. We had the artichoke and cheese appetizer and it was so good. Came with 5 large garlic toasted sourdough bread and chips. Almost a meal in itself. The bar is loaded with TV'S and free popcorn. The beer is cold. What more could you want. * The shuttle service is very good. Whether it's transportation to and from the airport or being transported somewhere in town, they will schedule it and follow through. No questions asked. * The breakfast buffet needs a little help. Just pretty basic. Overall, we were very pleased with this hotel and definitely would return here.

11/09/2017

DIRTY AND OLD! The room was very small and was not cleaned well. We had to get new bedding because what was on there looking dirty and used. There was a bad odor in that wing of the hotel. The lighting was very dim too. BUGS BUGS BUGS!!! Not what was represented on the web site and worth the money at all!

"Cousin's Funeral"

5
10/09/2017

It was another great stay. The staff at the front desk are wonderful and when I mentioned a funeral offered the bereavement rate which was nice. On Friday morning, Terri from house keeping knocked to check if the room was empty; I opened the door as I was just leaving. What a wonderful conversation we had, she is a very delightful person to visit with. The room was wonderful, clean, great internet service, nicely appointed to accommodate my work computer and Excel books. A wonderful stay under the circumstances. Thank you,

"Clean, comfortable hotel"

5
30/08/2017

Stayed at the Ramkota for 2 months back in 1988 for work, had not been back since until last week. The Ramkota is not as glitzy as the new, cookie cutter motels in the area, but is very clean, comfortable, and well kept. I felt it was an excellent value, has a more upscale feel at a price close to the economy / budget hotels in the area, and those cannot compare to the experience at the Ramkota (I've stayed at several over the past few years...). Nice clean, comfortable place for a family stay.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Jay, Thank you for your nice review. We are glad to have you back after so many years and we are happy to hear you had an enjoyable stay with us. Thank you for staying with us!

"Clean and a bit of a drive from Interstate 90"

3
29/08/2017

Clean. Toilet in our room was running when we walked in. Had to hold down in order to flush. Not a deal breaker. No breakfast in the morning which for a Best Western is thought of to have. Decent place to sleep if on the road. Staff at the front desk were friendly. A bit far from I-90 if looking for a place off the Interstate. Great for kids as there is a water park area. I would stay again.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Erika, Thank you for your feedback. I apologize for the running toilet and we will try to identify the room you stayed in so that it can be addressed. We thank you for staying with us and we look forward to having you back.

"Beautiful, relaxing environment"

5
29/08/2017

We have stayed at this hotel previously, but we were always in late and out early due to travel schedules. This time we had more time and found this facility to be much more than we had seen in the past. They have one outdoor pool and I believe two indoor pools. They have a restaurant and a "sports bar." And the grounds are much better than most comparable hotels where we have stayed. We took the time this time to walk around the grassy areas and found them very relaxing. Likewise, we had time to sit and relax in their outside seating area near the outdoor pool. Very nicely done.

"Slept like a baby!"

24/08/2017

After driving over 800 miles in one day, the Best Western hotel was a safe and reassuring hotel choice. The hotel staff was friendly, the hotel clean and neat and the room impeccable! The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sioux Falls, SD.

"Great location, quiet hotel"

5
23/08/2017

This is a very quiet, comfortable hotel located right off Interstate Highway 29. Rooms are clean and quiet, and beds are very comfortable. Internet connection is good, and there is a good variety of television channels available. The bar/lounge in the hotel serves meals until 10:00, and they are happy to take your order even if you arrive after 9:30. I recommend the steak. There is a restaurant in the hotel that serves a good breakfast. Staff is pleasant and helpful. If you are staying in Sioux Falls, the Ramkota is an excellent hotel to choose.

21/08/2017

The fixtures were loose and hard to operate. The vents were dirty. There was no channel menu for the TV. No phone book. No breakfast but 20% off the in house restaurant. Hotel needs a major upgrade. 90's style motel. I will not stay at this Best western again!

a hotel nothing special, however it does have a large pool and a grassy area for outside walks, plus some interior hallways that are a tad bit dark but all in all its not a bad joint have been in a few worse, and a few better so its all relative to what you want and expect

Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and we thank you for dining in our restaurant. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

"Lacks Standard Amenities"

15/08/2017

Guest room met all standards of cleanliness and was well equipped. The room AC was too noisy. The Danby refrigerator had a noisy whine. Bathroom fixtures in good working order. We had to plan our own route on the hotel map in order to walk from our room to the hotel lobby. The facility is large and the signage was lacking. No complimentary breakfast is provided; instead, a 20% discount on 1 meal per night is provided in the on-site bar/lounge or the restaurant. An elaborate water park is on site, but cannot compensate for the lack of a complimentary breakfast.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Melinda, Thank you for taking the time to do a review. I apologize for the noisy refrigerator and AC in your room and we will have both of them addressed immediately. Please feel free to reach me directly at 605-336-0650 if you would like to discuss your stay further. Thank you for staying with us.

"Feels like family."

They are always willing to accommodate with our special requests and needs. The pool is amazing. It is perfect for babies, toddlers on up to adults. I like the fact that there is two swimming pools, so the one for the smaller children don't get splashed by the older kid don't splash them. It is nice to be able to bring your own food and beverages in. They can be by the pool area as long as no glass is used. Just a great place to rest, relax and have fun!!

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your great review! We are very proud of both of our pool areas and we are happy to hear that you were able to enjoy them with your family during your stay with us. We hope to see you again soon.

Good value, good rooms, Great People and Service. Easy to get to - on and off I90. Great Bar and Grill, excellent prices, and Staff. They were very helpful and seemed to truly sincere. Me and my 3 buddies had just ridden of 500 miles that day on our way to Sturgis, this place was a great place to stop, relax, and recoup.

FUN weekend at Ramkota :-) Great Service, Clean Rooms, Kids loved the swimming area! Enjoyed the indoor and outdoor swimming pools! Wished you had continental breakfast....but that is a minor request! Can't go wrong at Best Western!

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review

"Hotel needs a complete remodel!!"

1
09/08/2017

The hotel didn't have our reservations and is in desperate need of a complete remodel. The hotel staff were friendly but not very knowledgeable. The meeting room was good and met our needs. If it wasn't for a business meeting I would not have stayed at this hotel.

"Large hotel but quiet and restful"

05/08/2017

Chose this hotel for the water park which is great for kids. The indoor water slide is fun and not too fast. It's a lovely place with nice accommodations/rooms and the hallways and rooms were quiet. The lobby is very nice with a grand staircase. The only "downfall" would be that breakfast is not included; kids can eat for 99 cents, however, with a paying adult. Nice folks!

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to do a review. We are happy to hear that you had an enjoyable time at our hotel with you family and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Really nice stay will definitely stay again. I really needed a place to stay to get some sleep. The bed was very comfortable and the WiFi was great. I would really like to stay again to enjoy the pool. This motel is absolutely beautiful.

Thank you for the great review! We look forward to having you back.

"Great service"

4
05/08/2017

Hotel staff was excellent: friendly, caring, responsive. Wi-Fi was completely unusable because it was so weak. The room had a funny smell, but was clean. Beds were comfortable. They do not offer complimentary breakfast. My kids really enjoyed the indoor water park. It's small, but they were happy with it. I enjoyed the fitness room.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear that you received excellent customer service during your stay with us and that you enjoyed the water park and fitness room. The fitness room was recently remodeled as part of multi-year renovation of the hotel that will include updates to all areas of the hotel including sleeping rooms. We hope you will return to see the progress. Thank you for staying with us.

"Nice room"

2
04/08/2017

Strong chemical smell in room, maybe from pool. When the kids are screaming in the indoor pool echo chamber (which is constant) there is no excape from the noise in the room. Hear protection required. Pool closes at 10 so the noise stops but powerful chemical smell remains. Restaurant was a ghost town except for two families w small children. So maybe a child friendly place. For the cost of $130.00 a night for one adult, one can find a better place in Sioux Falls.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your feedback. I apologize for the problems you experienced during your stay with us. We are a family friendly hotel with an indoor water play land so there are times that the pool area is very busy and it can be noisy. We do have quieter areas of the hotel and would be happy to attempt to accommodate any guest looking for that. Thanks again for your review and thank you for staying with us.

"Great Hotel and Shuttle!"

5
02/08/2017

We were only in Sioux Falls for less than 24 hours. We didn't expect to see much as we were only in transit but the hotel's shuttle service was FANTASTIC! They provide free shuttles to anywhere within the city limits. I wish more hotels did this. This saved us a lot of time and stress getting around in a city we weren't familiar with. Ian took the time to give us a tour around Sioux Falls in the shuttle, which was above and beyond what he needed to do! And Jamie was great too as she dropped us off at a home outside town where we needed to be the following day. This is a really great service that makes this hotel a unique stay. Also, the front desk was extremely friendly and professional. Wish we had time to enjoy the water park!

"Comfortable and restful stay at BW Ramkota, Sioux Falls, SD"

5
02/08/2017

We had the opportunity to stay at this property while in the area visiting family and attending a local event. We found the Ramkota to be a very comfortable and pleasant property, the front desk staff were most welcoming. Rooms were clean and fresh with plenty of bathroom towels for 3 adults sharing the room. We would definately stay here again when traveling in the area.

"Marilyn Kroenke"

26/07/2017

This place seemed a little careless regarding customer service. The front desk personnel were often outside smoking while customers waited for attention and when I called front desk to ask for help with password sign on, the response was "Gee, haven't they corrected that yet?", which leads me to think my inquiry wasn't the first. Overall, not so impressed. Best Western ought to send their own secret shoppers out for a good evaluation.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Marliyn, I apologize for the issues you mentioned in your review. We take customer service very seriously and we will address the behavior that you experienced. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your stay further with you and if you would like please feel free to call me at 605-336-0650 and we can try to make it right with you. Thank you for your feedback and thank you for staying with us.

"Beds suck"

3
26/07/2017

Beds are hard as a rock. Couldn't sleep due to back pain. Was up all night with back pain. Rest of the hotel was good. Loved the water slide and the pools. Food at the restaurant was good, expensive though.

"Very clean and friendly staff"

5
26/07/2017

The bar and motel were wonderful. Everyone was friendly in the motel and at Frankie's. Breakfast buffet on a saturday morning was not good in the Maple Leaf Cafe. We loved both pools and will definitely return.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback and we are happy to hear you had an enjoyable stay with us. We look forward to having you back with us.

"Mediocre Stay"

3
24/07/2017

Check-in person friendly. Fan in bathroom broken. Only one soap per room makes it difficult for someone to take shower and another person washing their hands. No overhead lights required multiple table lamps. Even so, was difficult to light up room adequately. Not able to check out on TV because that feature wasn't working. Door to pool area was out of alignment. Positives: room had microwave and small refrigerator.

"Good Basic Stay"

4
24/07/2017

We stayed one night here passing through South Dakota. Our room was large, clean and quiet which is all we really care about for a one night stay. Breakfast was very good with a variety of items to choose from. All in all an enjoyable stay.

"Great Location and amenities"

20/07/2017

Very friendly staff. Lounge is great and the outdoor pool area is beautiful. Nice place for business travel as well as family trips. Handy with a lounge and restaurant on the premises as well as indoor water park and outdoor pool.

"Nice Pool Area for Young Children"

4
19/07/2017

The room was updated and clean. We chose the Ramkota because of the pool area for kids. It did not disappoint. We didn't realize that there was also a large outdoor pool until we were checking out. It would be good for someone who wanted to swim some laps.

"Great stay"

5
18/07/2017

We were very satisfied with all aspects of this hotel, from the location and climate in the room to the hotel restaurant. We went for breakfast close to closing time, the waitress was very accommodating and took our order and let us enjoy our meal and conversation way past closing, she was the best!!!

"Great facility"

16/07/2017

Good room good value great staff. Large comfortable hotel with great amenities. Easy access to highway and good parking. I was with a large group and we still had personal individual service. The staff cared!

"Good Place to Stay"

4
16/07/2017

Attended a conference at and stayed at the motel. It was very clean, friendly service and within location of earing places and shopping. From making the reservations to check out the customer service was very good. I would recommend your motel as the place to stay in Sioux Falls.

"Good hotel , improving"

3
13/07/2017

This is a very big old hotel that is improving. A couple of examples our room was clean and in good working order yet the ice machine and whirlpool were out of commission. Ate at the hotel restaurant for breakfast, prices were reasonable and service was good. The hotel staff we interacted with were great. Look forward to seeing the mgmt can do with this hotel. From my perspective the room cost is fair value for what you get.

"Excellent"

5
12/07/2017

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times for business and with family and rarely do I have an issue. The rooms are modern and are always in working order. The hotel staff is professional and very helpful. I can only remember one time I had a bad experience at check in and that was after a late arrival. The hotel features a bar that has a good menu that you can order off of and take to the pool. They also have a regular restraint that serves an good buffet style breakfast on the weekend. The hotel has an outdoor pool as well as indoor water park style pool. The indoor and outdoor area allows you to bring food and drink in to them that does not need to be purchased at the hotel until 11:00 p.m.The King bedrooms in the newer section are very nice if you are traveling for business. I would recommend a pool side room for the outdoor pool during the summer if traveling with family.

"Sioux Falls Traveler"

12/07/2017

This facility is a very nice place to stay over while traveling for business or leisure. It is close to I-29 and has a nice work out area and pool, lounge and restaurant as well. If you need a location close to Denny Sanford Arena this is a very easy accessible venue to get over there and back.

"Always treated like family!!"

5
11/07/2017

Been staying here for 20+ years ~ ALWAYS treated like family!! I love that they remember me, greet our family by name, we love the rooms ~ especially having 2 rooms w 2 bathrooms ~ easy to get in and out ~ great location, love having indoor and outdoor pool

"Nice Hotel in Sioux Falls"

4
10/07/2017

I've stayed here many times while in town on business and have always been satisfied with the accommodations and service. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Bar and restaurant on-site are not bad and convenient. The location is right off of I-29 and Russell which makes for easy access. The front desk staff can be hit or miss depending on who is working, but I've always been able to get whatever I need from them. Overall it's a nice hotel at a fairly reasonable price.

"Great place"

5
06/07/2017

We received excellent personalized service and accommodations from the staff. They were very helpful I would stay at BW Hotels every chance I get. We arrived without reservations and the desk clerk made sure we had a room and gave us suggestions on restaurants in the area. We were very happy.

"Business Stay"

2
04/07/2017

Hotel management made the decision to give up my room despite the fact that I called them specifically to let them know that I was going to be checking in around 10 PM the night of my stay. Manager try to accommodate by offering me food coupons which did help however on a business trip with expectations and a phone call in advance of the state very disappointing. If you book this hotel please be aware they have a policy of giving away rooms as I ran into other business members that had their rooms also forfeited by management in the same time.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for reaching back out to me today. I would like to apologize for the confusion surrounding your reservation and I hope we have made it right with you. Thank you again for the feedback and for staying with us.

"Beautiful Property, Dirty Bedspreads and Dirty Light Switches"

3
03/07/2017

The location is great, right off of the interstate. We were there in mid-June for a concert nearby and my husband chose the property because the hotel offered a free shuttle to and from the venue which was great! The property is sprawling and the grounds are beautiful with hydrangeas and daylillies in full bloom. There is also a decent restaurant on site and prices and food were quite good. Everyone on the staff was friendly and very helpful. I did take a peek at the indoor pool area, but my eyes started to burn from the chlorine so I left. The big negatives I had about the property were the really dirty bedspreads and the light switches in the bathroom. The light switches were right underneath the hanging clean towels which was kind of disgusting. For the management, we were in room 1046.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank for your feedback. I apologize for the cleanliness issues you mentioned in your review and I will have them addressed immediately. We thank you for the nice compliments for our grounds and restaurant and we truly appreciate your choice to dine with us. Thank you for staying with us and we hope to see you again in the future.

This hotel has a awesome pool but got there a little to late to experience it but there were alor of people leaving the area..... wish I had the time. Over all it was a quiet stay even though they had a bunch of soccer players there that evening.

"Great visit"

5
01/07/2017

Stopped here on the way to another destination. I think we got the last room - grabbing it online from the highway. Got a good rate. They have an onsite restaurant and also a sports bar. Went to the bar and had a salad and wine. Stopped And talked to the ladies at the desk. Very informative and friendly. Lots of kids at the water park but they didn't bother us. King room was wonderful. I highly recommend!

"Soccer tournament "

5
27/06/2017

Nice enough with anything we needed there. On check in I told them they had my check out date wrong but I had to call the front desk two more times when I kept finding invoices for checkout twice too early. My confirmation showed the correct dates. Other than that it was fine

"Old and big "

3
25/06/2017

The rooms have 3 doors-- hallway, parking lot and adjoining rooms. Except noise. Old construction makes next room shower sound like a freight train. It is very large for this type of hotel. Complete with water park for kids. Place was full due to kids soccer tournament. Kids were well behaved. The bartender Darrel was efficient and friendly. Best thing about the place. Staff were efficient and friendly. Over priced for the quality of the rooms. They make you sign an agreement not to smoke but our room smelled of smoke when we checked in. Probably won't be going back.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your feedback. While we are an older property we are excited to tell you that we will soon be starting renovations in our sleeping rooms that will include all new bathrooms and furniture. We hope you will come back and see the progress. Thank you for staying with us.

"Good Stay!"

4
25/06/2017

We stayed at the hotel when it was jammed pack with kids - ours included for a Regional Soccer Championship. Under these circumstances the hotel staff did a great job of accommodating and handling any issues. We had wifi problems but considering every room was loaded with kids from age 10 to 19 there was an overload on the system. And we had a challenge with our air conditioning. But in both cases problems were quickly resolved and attended to. The staff is friendly and the accommodations are typical for a family hotel with indoor water park. In other words they do a pretty good job of maintaining considering the constant abuse it gets.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Rick, Thank you for staying with us and for your feedback. We enjoyed having the players, coaches and fans from all across the Midwest and we hope you had a memorable and successful tournament in Sioux Falls. Thanks again for staying with us!

"Good Stopover Place"

4
19/06/2017

This Hotel was a good stopover place with quick access back to the Interstate.Everybody seems glad to see us and veryhelpful as well. I would stay there again if needed. That area is a little short on quality places to stay, so this Hotel was a real treat.

"My Thoughts"

3
15/06/2017

Very friendly and clean. To high of a price for just normal traveling night stay for me. No closet doors also bothered me. It had a lot of great features and the pools were wonderful. A little bit of something for everyone.

"Great for all ages"

5
15/06/2017

Bar, restaurant, outdoor pool, indoor water park, giant conference rooms, this place just keeps going and going. The staff goes above and beyond to make you happy. My only complaint are the rooms are old and need to remodeled. Other than that its a great place to stay.

"OUTSTANDING quality, professionalism, hospitality and service"

5
15/06/2017

Our Family Reunion gathered 48 of us and a couple police dogs in a weekend of comfortable spaces, big indoor pool, side rooms, and even conference rooms all set up with projector screens, sound system, wireless mic and delicious wonderful meals served just for our family at a very reasonable rate. All the staff went out of their way to make it a memorable Family Reunion. Their free shuttle took us to the Rotary Park trails and water falls, the National College Rodeo, the free art festival down town that weekend. The Planetarium right next door I want to see on the next visit. I would highly recommend this for family and business alike. The professional Theatre setting was a stage and multimedia facility with comfortable chairs and well equipped tables elevated so all could see if large organizations gathered executives for a meeting. I'd highly recommend this if you're in Casper WY for a night or a week.

"Fine with me!"

4
13/06/2017

I think the hotel was fine, staff were nice eventhough there was a SCEAMING woman at the front desk that was mad because they would not just issue her a key with out permission of the room ocupant (seems legit to me, esspecially now days). The room had a slight smell to it but that was not a big deal to me. Nice pool area for the kiddos, nice meeting rooms, restaurant service was pleasent!

"Shoved out"

2
12/06/2017

No pool rule supervision. They post rules but no one follows and no one from hotel is there to manage. Got shoved out by housekeeping continually knocking on room door at 8 AM and 9 AM. Check-out is 11 AM.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to speak with me on the phone and I hope that we will see you again in the future.

"Dated but pleasant"

3
08/06/2017

I booked here through a 'name your own price' option on Priceline. I arrived late but they were pleasant and got me checked in quickly. The property is a bit dated but was comfortable and clean. On my way to the room, I noticed lots of teenagers who were on a school trip. They were running the halls and being super loud. I got into my room and within less than 5 minutes, these kids were already knocking on my door and running. I called the front desk and this was immediately stopped. I heard them speaking to the kids in the hallway and I had no more troubles that night. Overall, a good place for the price. Nothing spectacular but it is a clean, safe place to stay, even when traveling alone.

"Fun Weekend in Sioux Falls."

5
07/06/2017

Had a great time. The water park is awesome for the kids and the outdoor pool is great for adults and older kids. the restaurant is very nice and the pizza is great . The lounge is relaxing and serves great food. Lots of room for the kids to run.

"Dated and needs work"

2
05/06/2017

I usually figure this hotel will be fun for my family and the room will be average. My problem this time is the room was not very clean, there were a few weird stains on the floor in the bathroom and the walls. The outside door by my room didn't lock, so anyone off the street could wonder in. The rooms around us must have been having a family gathering because they were partying in the hallway until 230 am. Also, the big water slide needs a lot of work. It looked like maintenance to it had been ignored for years. The staircase was missing half the railing, and the rest of the railing was wrapped in duct tape to hold it together. And the staircase to the water slide was covered in a lot of rust and rust holes.

"Very Nice - Remodel missed a few things"

4
28/05/2017

This is a great hotel, and I don't want to overshaddow that, but it would have made sense for them to update the room's heater/AC and the mattresses when they updated everything else. Other than that, this is a top of the line hotel with a fantastic pool.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your feedback. We will be starting renovations to our sleeping rooms this fall that will include new mattresses and furniture in each room. We would love to have you back in the future to see the progress. Thank you for staying with us.

"Nice Family Hotel"

4
22/05/2017

Rooms were clean and well-appointed. We did not encounter any issues with the room at all. The pool is a great feature, and certainly a draw for families. Many rooms face right onto the pool. The do have a small fitness room with decent equipment, but it was located in an out-of-the-way place behind the pool. We dined at the lounge, Frankies. We ordered nachos and drinks. The nachos were so-so. The drinks were pretty good.

"Dated"

1
09/05/2017

The pool is run down and the overwhelming smell of chlorine goes far down the hallway from the pool. Rooms are very dated and some have entrances from the outside. Don't stay here! Stay closer to the mall at the newer hotels

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
I am sorry to hear about the issues you experienced during your stay with us. While we are an older property we are starting renovations this year that will include all new sleeping room packages. We will continue to upgrade all areas of the hotel over the next few years and we hope that you will come back and see the progress. Thank you for staying with us and for your feedback.

07/05/2017

We have an annual event here as it is the largest facility that can handle our group and breakout sessions. We are always blown away by what an awesome job Julie Coleman and the staff do. From the private bar for faculty social with incredible hors d'oeuvres to providing a wonderful efficient luncheon for hundreds of participants. The food is awesome and the staff are friendly and courteous. The decorations and ambience make you think you are in the big city. A great deal of effort that is really appreciated. Thanks Julie, we'll be back.

"They have large bars of bath soap"

3
25/04/2017

We stayed here last evening and spent a lot of the night not sleeping. Here's the pros and cons. Pros- right off I29. Pretty quiet for being beside an interstate. Pretty quiet because it's a huge 1960s convention motel (I remember when it was built). Fairly large rooms. Lots of parking near each room. Cons- Really soft square pillows. My wife used a bath towel for a pillow. Very loud, old in room heating and cooling units. If you like loud white noise you'll have it in spades. No nearby restaurants if you're not eating in the motel (go south to 26th Street I29 exit - lots of choices). Really thin sheets and really bumpy blankets like a Barber carpet. Lots of exterior light coming in your windows due to ground mounted lights that shine on the building facades. If you like a Hampton Inn or Courtyard type hotel, this isn't your place. If you want a clean basic place and are a good sleeper, or bring you own pillow, this may work well for you. As stated in many other reviews, the staff is very nice.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for feedback. As you mentioned we are an older property but I am excited to let you know that we are in the beginning stages of a multi-year renovation that will include new bedding packages and furniture in the sleeping rooms. We hope you will come back and see the progress as we make improvements. Thank you for staying with us.

We had a gathering of our immediate family with 8 kids ranging from 3 to 20. We had 3 rooms that the girl working at the desk (red hair) I believe her name was Molly Jean., coordinates and followed up on every need we had and then some. The top of the tier when it comes to comparing how well she took care of our family.

Ted H, General Manager at Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your review. We love to compliments for our staff and we are very happy to hear that Molly helped to make your stay an enjoyable one. She is an excellent employee who looks to improve the experience for all of our guests. Thank you for recognizing her and thank you for staying with us. We look forward to having you and your family back in the future.

"In house restaurant welcome after long drive"

It was Sunday night and the restaurant was closed but in-house sports bar open with the same menu. It was so nice not to have to leave the premises. Front desk was professional; first room was smoky and we were immediately moved.

Ted H, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Myrna, Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear you decided to dine with us and we hope you enjoyed your meal in Frankie's. I apologize for the smoky room and I am happy to hear we were able to quickly move you. We are a smoke-free property and I will have your first room deep cleaned to make sure the smell is removed. Thank you for staying with us and we look forward to having you back again. Ted and team

"Friendly Staff, rooms could use some updating"

30/03/2017

The hotel staff was friendly during check in/out. The towel bar in the bathroom was quite rusty. Other minor issues in the room that could use attention. Also a toy was broken in the pool and they left the chains laying on the bottom. Kind of easy to stub a toe on. Otherwise, a nice place to stay for a little getaway.

Ted H, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your feedback. We are closing our pool the week of April 3 to do some repairs in the pool including replacing a snake that will be attached to the chains you mentioned. We are also in the beginning phases of a multi year property improvement program that will include updating the sleeping rooms. We hope you will come back and see the progress in the future. Thank you for staying with us. Ted and team

"Family fun stay"

27/11/2016

Our room location was ground level and not far from the pool which was nice. We arrived on a Saturday evening and was excited for our 9 year old to use the pool, which was our main reason for selecting hotel. The pool was packed. All the tables were filled so my husband and I found some chairs to sit in to keep an eye on our daughter. As my daughter was having fun, my husband and I kept an eye on the towel bins. They were constantly empty. Anytime a "few" towels arrived, they were gone before we could walk there. My hubby kept making a routine walk around the pool, hoping to get lucky and get a towel when they were being replaced. After many circles, he was successful. He also decided to sit in the hot tub. There were no jets to control. Just a few jets that continuously ran which provided no relief to his back. When they say the pool says it closes at 11pm, it closes at 11pm. They tell everyone to leave and turn the lights off. As we walked down the hall, someone had spilled popcorn all over the floor. We decided to let our daughter swim the next morning. I was shocked. The popcorn was still in the hallway. When we got to the pool, not a single towel in sight. Dirty towels still around the pool tables and gummy bears along the edge of the pool. I surely thought that everything would be cleaned and towels would be stocked overnight. We were at the pool at 8am and stayed until 10am. Still no towels. Another guest asked someone and were told they were being washed. My daughter absolutely loved the pool, but as parents, we see the details. Would we stay there again, yes, but only if we are traveling with our daughter for a special occasion and have free time so she can swim. I know they are doing room remodels in 2017, which will greatly improve the look of the rooms. They are a bit dated, but were clean and the beds were extremely comfortable.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the detailed review; I hope you noticed the new carpet in the pool area. This week the fitness room and arcade are getting upgrades, and we're working with a pool vendor on a solution for the whirlpool as well. As for towels and cleanliness, disappointing, unacceptable and will be addressed today with all relevant parties.........we're better than this. I do hope we see you again in 2017! My Best, Jan

"Worst Best Western I ever stayed at"

18/11/2016

This place is filthy, has MOLD in the bathroom. I was over charged $50.00 the room door handle did not work. I was told the building is old. It was suggested to me ways the I could fix it. The outlets in the rooms are so worn out that they will not hold a plug. This is a FIRE HAZARD! I would not suggest staying here. The Best Western Towers is a lot better, with very helpful staff.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments, as my note to you this weekend indicated this room was looked at and addressed immediately. I accept full responsibility for the issues you mentioned, and apologize. Per my note your stay was 100% adjusted. We are an older hotel to be sure, but we work very hard to keep it clean and well maintained, I believe your experience is not the norm for us. No one understands more than I that trust is earned, should you give us another opportunity I am very sure we could turn this negative into a positive. Also, 2017 will start guest room renovations. Sincerely, Jan Grunewaldt

05/11/2016

Came for a three night stay. Meeting family for an early thanksgiving vacation. Called and asked for first floor poolside rooms near each other. Upon arrival was told we were on the second floor and that was all that would be available. Rest of family checked on was given ground floor requested second floor was told those rooms were unavailable even though we called in advance at time of booking and requested rooms near each other. House keeping forgot to clean room called the front desk and talked to Hailey who was only slightly helpful but had someone come and clean the room. Next night a birthday party is being hosted by a guest renting a room. All tables are covered in their stuff and there is no tables or towels available for paying guests. Their is food and latex balloons popped and all over the floor around the pool. Our son received a black eye who just happens to be a toddler by an unruly guest. We called the front desk, went to the front desk and was told the birthday party was not registered guests and they should not be there. The party continued anyways. I would not suggest to anyone with toddlers or other children they want in a safe clean environment to stay at this hotel. We have received wonderful suggestions on where to try the next time we are in town.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
John, Your experience is most unacceptable, I wish we would have connected while you were still on property. All of your comments will be looked into and addressed. If you give me a call this week at 605-336-0650 I will address compensation. We are better than this; I am very embarrassed. I hope I hear from you, Jan

Nice place, we were tired and had good experiences with other Best Western Plus hotels so we pushed on to this hotel and it was a pleasant stay before our trip took us south. Staff was pleasant an attentave.

29/10/2016

The ad offered wifi in every room. Very important as this was a business trip. No wifi available in my room. I called IT, on the phone for over half an hour. Still no wifi. So I went to the bar... perfect wifi reception! Worst steak I've ever had in my life. It was cooked to perfection, medium-rare, but like it was threaded with dental floss!! Bartender was gracious... She offered to replace my steak. I replied, "Only if it's from a different cow!" She knocked $15 off my bill. I won't stay there again. If you have kids, they'll love it! Fantastic pool area! If you're 5 years old!

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the comments, I am sorry about the Wi-Fi. We will try to figure out where you were to see if there is a router down because this is not a common problem, neither is food quality. And as you noted, the performance part was spot on, we can address the quality with our food vendor, because again, this is not the norm. I hope you'll reconsider and give us the opportunity to turn this negative into a positive, I am very sure we could. Sincerely, Jan

26/10/2016

Great accommodations with restaurant on site. Had a restful sleep and continued on journey to North Branch, MN. Easy access from I-29 and I-90. Had both an indoor and outdoor pool but we were unable to use but both looked great.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the nice comments, I am so glad we were a nice spot to rest and refresh for your long drive. As you noted, right off I-29 and I-90, we're right on the way to anywhere you're going! Hope to see you next trip! My Best, Jan and Team

"Very nice hotel!"

23/10/2016

We had a certificate for a free stay at this hotel! It was very nice. It had an indoor and outdoor pool and the outdoor pool was very nice. It went to 9ft, don't see that in a lot of hotels anymore. Rooms were spacious. This hotel is VERY big. It only has 2 floors but it took us about 10min to walk to our room from the front desk. They do have a parking closer to the rooms that are farther from the desk, so make sure you know where to park in order to be near your room!

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the nice comments, SO glad you enjoyed yourselves! Hope to see you again, My Best, Jan and Team

This hotel had excellent employees. Friendly and professional. The room was great. Had everything we needed. Also, we loved the pool and hot tub..The temperature was perfect. The water park for children was so nice. I did not have any children with me but other parents were having alot of fun with their kids there. I will be planning on staying there again. From a guest from St. Louis, MO.

Thank you, thank you! Mission accomplished:) Looking forward to your return, Jan and Team

"Disappointing "

2
20/10/2016

We were a party of 4. I was excited for my grandkids to relax at the "water park". The photos indicated a water obstacle course and water slide. The website indicated a king suite had a sofa/bed. The room only had a king bed for 4 people. Management changed our room to a double queen. The key lock worked one time and then quit unlocking the door. Second key did the same thing. Management sent a technician to change the battery in the externally mounted lock while we went to the pool. The pool was a disappointment! What appeared in the photo as an obstacle course is actually a kiddy pool and was closed due to lack of proper maintenance. The hot tub was warm not hot. The water slide was nice but the rest of the pool was quite small- impossible to swim laps. Back at the room the key would not unlock the door ... again. I would not recommend this motel.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the comments. I am so very sorry for all of the frustration that led to an unpleasant stay. Booking third party sites does tie our hands on compensation but if you would consider trying us again, we'd be happy to offer a discounted rate on upgraded accommodations if you book directly with Patrick, our front office manager. I am sorry you found the pool area disappointing as well, from the end of May through September we do have a very nice outdoor pool where you can do laps. I do hope we see you again so we have an opportunity to turn this negative into a positive, I am sure we can. Sincerely, Jan Grunewaldt

"Over all a nice place"

17/10/2016

Stayed here for a recent tournament near by. The room was clean and we had no complaints. We did have ever seen pool side rum which was nice for the kids but can get a bit loud at times. Pool shut down at 11pm which was nice but was already loud and busy at 8am on a Sunday morning. The staff was over all friendly.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the nice comments, I am so glad you enjoyed your experience. The pool area is built for fun to be sure, a non-poolside room does eliminate that early morning noise. Benefits to both options pending your needs. Hope to see you again soon- Our Best, Jan and Team

"Incredible room!"

07/10/2016

I stayed at this property in Sioux Falls while traveling there on business. When I got to the hotel I was told I was upgraded to a whirlpool king room due to my Diamond status. What an understatement. I had 2 doors to choose from, one entered my king bedroom with a vanity and bathroom, a standard room. I noticed an open door in my room and when I went through, I was greeted with a huge living room with a large wet bar with 3 high top stools, a large sofa and easy chair, a square table with 3 leather chairs and a mega bathroom. a 2 sink vanity, HUGE walk in shower and a giant whirlpool tub. One of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in. The staff was wonderful and helpful. Great hotel, I'll stay here again!

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you SO much for the nice comments, so glad you had a great experience. Thank you so much for your loyalty as well, hope to see you again! My Best, Jan and Team

06/10/2016

We stayed here for 1 night while on our way down to Keystone, the room was a good size, there was 5 of us staying in one room we booked two queen with pullout. Was decent, clean, except for pullout, it had some stains on sheet. Since I was sleeping on pullout I complained to front desk, they put me in adjoining room for the night. We spoke with house keeping manager in morning, and spoke with manager, everything was straightened out. Even with small problem with pullout I would stay here again

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the comments, and my sincere apologies for the pullout, I am so glad we were able to resolve. We're grateful you'd return! My Best, Jan and Team

"Average is the best I can give for this property"

03/10/2016

First of all, there were noisy children running up and down the hall for several hours after we checked in. If we had known it was going to continue like it did, we would have asked to be moved. We were upgraded to a suite, but the room and furnishings were "tired" and somewhat worn. Even tho we had a large room, two baths, two TV's, etc, it wasn't "top quality". As usual for me, "plastic" is not what should be offered in glasses and utinsils for the cost that was charged. They also did not offer a "Free" breakfast. There was an elevation to our floor from the parking lot so had to hand carry all of our luggage in and did not see a cart for that purpose. As a whole, the place was just not overly friendly although the check in staff member was very helpful.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments, we appreciate all comments so help us grow our performance. Our guest rooms will be redone in 2017 so the 'tired' will be addressed. I tend to agree w/ you and like glass products better, and we used to, but we've found our guests appreciate the individual wraps product to ensure sanitation. Should you stay with again please ask for glass tumblers and ceramic coffee cups be delivered to your room and we'd happily do so. We do have a complimentary grab and go as well available at the front desk with water, fresh fruit and granola bar. I do hope you'll try us again so we can turn this 'average' into excellent, I am sure we can!! My Best, Jan and Team

"Very nice room!"

30/09/2016

I have stayed at the Ramkota through the years due to its location and over all good service. My last stay found the room to be very nice and they appear to be in the middle of serious upgrades. Close to the new arena and the airport and just a few minutes from downtown, this location sees a lot of business and repeat business at that. Will stay again.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you very much for the nice comments, we appreciate it so much! YES, good stuff happening this year and a lot next year......thrilling! Thank you for your continued loyalty! Grateful, Jan and Team

"Good location for a workshop"

5
28/09/2016

My company hosted a workshop in this hotel and I must admit it's not bad. Cindy, the lady that checked me in after arriving at 1030 pm, was very courteous and was able to track down my BW account for points. The driver that picked me up (he didn't introduce himself) seem to like the local Badlands radio station (94.5) a lot. I was given a room on the second floor close to the stairwell going to the pool area. I believe it was in one of the rooms that were newly renovated. Free shuttle from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to local spots. We were dropped off at Falls Park and were picked up before the driver's shift ended (which was at 11 pm). Too bad we didn't bring our suits but we would've taken advantage of the two indoor pools. One was called the "percolator" and had 100 feet of slide area. There was a wading area and also an outdoor pool.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the nice comments, glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for the nice comments about Cindy as well, she'll be rewarded for your positive comments about her performance. On her behalf, thank you! We hope to see you again! My Best, Jan and Team

"National Parks tour"

28/09/2016

The location is perfect for touring Yellowstone National Park. The room we stayed in desperately needs upgrading. The staff are very helpful and very nice and the breakfast is good. The attached gift shop and restaurant are nice features as well. We were there in late September and it's a great time to see the park, BUT PLAN AHEAD as everything may be booked.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the comments on your experience; this however is not the Best Western PLUS Ramkota Hotel in Sioux Falls, SD. Touring Yellowstone sounds AWESOME!

"Week long visit for business. Room 1101"

3
27/09/2016

Hotel is starting to get dated. They keep it clean which is good, but flooring/baths need updates. Ceiling in rather low in hallways. Pool area was nice for kids, but hot tub needed some updates. Fitness area was hard to access ( through the pool) and was lacking in equipment. Stayed in room 1101. It was quiet, but the back door to the alley in the hallway never locked. All in all it was a pleasant stay. Decent food, especially the pizza in the bar. Looking forward to some updates though.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the comments, we too are very excited about the impending updates. In reference to the fitness room, last week a new recumbent bike was added, we're adding additional free weights and will update some of the other equipment. Cosmetic updates are planned as well to include flooring and walls, work will start in October. We look forward to your return! My Best, Jan and Team

21/09/2016

So, stayed here again with less than stellar results. Arrived on a Saturday afternoon and found my room to be clean and no apparent issues. Woke up Sunday morning to shower and found that challenging as there was very little water pressure at the shower head, anyway got through it and told the staff at the front desk. When I went to shower Sunday evening I found I had more water pressure ( at least this time it would come out of the shower head) but still very low. I had excellent water pressure with just the tub running though, oh well I made do. On Monday sometime my A/C in my room just gave up. Tuesday morning I told the front desk and they said they would have it checked, don't know if that happened or not because it was just as hot or hotter in my room when I returned at the end of the day. But on the positive my room was just about as far from the pool as you could get so it was nice and quiet. Also I understand this property is undergoing improvements so I hope HVAC is a priority not just aesthetics.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the comments, and I am really sorry for the frustration. We'll figure out what room you were in and change out that shower head and look at the hvac as well. And to your point, YES, happily when the major improvements are made heating and cooling, plumbing challenges will be addressed as well. I do hope we see you again. My Best, Jan

"Great place for kids"

18/09/2016

I had traveled here for labor day weekend to visit my niece and nephew who live nearby, and they enjoyed the indoor waterpark as well as many of the other children, it was also convenient that there was a restaurant in the hotel, so you don't even have to worry about getting into your car and finding a place to eat. I will more than likely be staying here again when visiting family in Souix Falls

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the comments, we are so glad you enjoyed your visit, and look forward to seeing you next time! Our Best, Jan and Team

This is a conference center type hotel. Many rooms. water park. Found our two rooms to be less than clean. Very noisy air conditioner. Leakey faucet. Flies and sow bugs in our rooms. Beds were comfortable and they did discount us on one of the rooms.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for sharing your experience, and I am so sorry we didn't do our best work. I am glad we were able to connect however and compensate you, we always want to make it right. "Business stay without the rudeness"

14/09/2016

My crew and I stayed here for the night as we traveled on to our next jobsite. The hotel had a lot to offer as in conference rooms, bar, restaurant, huge indoor pool area. The rooms were clean and somewhat updated. They did not have shampoo and only one bar of soap in the room I stayed in. The young lady at the front desk was a bit snobby and argumentative with my co workers she was checking in. I'm really glad I did not have to be checked in by this young woman. The lack of professionalism was a big thumbs down on this stay for me.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments, and I appreciate all the positives. I am disappointed on the rude associate however, and wish you would have asked for the manager on duty to share your experience. We hit this kind of comment head on, we're in the people business and behavior like that is not trained nor tolerated. We have so many really nice, cool people that work here that love what they do, I am genuinely sorry you got one that was not on their 'A' game! I do hope you will stop again, Jan

"Fine for family fun"

12/09/2016

This was a return stay for us. The mini waterpark is a nice addition, maybe best for a family with elementary age kids. Easy to find, quiet location, just south of I90, and close enough to attractions or to get back on the highway for more travels. Poolside rooms are handy but noisy. Breakfast is not included in the price.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
So glad we did a nice job for you and your family......thrilled! Hope to see you again on your next visit. We appreciate your business very much! My Best, Jan and Team

"Bad security"

3
12/09/2016

This is a nicely redecorated motel near the fairgrounds and not far from downtown . It is spead out over numerous hallways and very difficult to negotiate. The big problem I had was lack of security. First room racous partiers, hike to orher part of hotel. Second night 12:45 am, insering keys, twisting doir handle, repest 1:45 am. There needs to be security in these ling hallways! Bar and resaurant freindly. I felt unsafe. Expensive motel given poor safety measures.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments, and I am so sorry you felt unsafe. No matter where you are ever, it's important to use all locking devices once in the room and the safety bar as well. Unfortunately, partiers or not, it's common guests forget their room number and will insert their key in the wrong room. I travel with my job and you see it walking guest room hallways and it's happened to me numerous times in many different markets. I'll admit it makes your heart stop a minute, but you usually hear a 'whoops'! We do have managers on duty on week nights until the house is all quiet, anywhere from midnight to 3am, and on weekends we do have outside security the same hours. As well we pay an outside service to nightly drive our lot numerous times, it just helps discourage any unwanted activity. And the police make a practice of driving lots as well at all the hotels in Sioux Falls Should you stay with us again, please call me personally, we'll assign your room directly behind the front desk. That tends to be a less traveled, quiet section, and so close to immediate support. Again, I am so sorry you felt uneasy. Sincerely, Jan

"Non-Standard Best Western"

3
10/09/2016

Hotel is fine, but you have to pay for breakfast. Price is high enough; it should include breakfast voucher. "Waterpark" is noisy and has strong chlorine odor. We avoided the waterpark. I'm sure unused waterpark added to the hotel cost, yet breakfast demanded typically high restaurant charges.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you very much for the comments, and as noted we are full service, a smaller percentage of Best Westerns to be sure. We've worked hard to provide fair priced, large portion, cooked to order fresh breakfast, coffee is on us for breakfast, and children under 12 eat for .99 with an adult. As well, we do have a complimentary grab and go available at the front desk with fresh fruit, water, and granola bar. I am sorry you didn't enjoy the waterpark, we do have a beautiful outdoor pool also but it's starting to get chilly now. I hope you'll try us again and enjoy all we have to offer! Sincerely, Jan

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. It was kind of hidden behind a small shopping mall. It was very large and in its day was probably an eloquent place to stay. Now it just seems hidden and very quiet.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the nice comments. For readers I am not quite sure this is meant for us, BUT could be. We have two Best Westerns in our community and the other one is behind shopping, which we are not, but it's a smaller footprint and we are large. Full disclosure:) My Best, Jan

05/09/2016

I only stayed at this hotel for a short period of time. Got in after long day on a bus and left again early morning. The air conditioner worked well and blew cold air. My room did not have a hair dryer. When I called the front desk to tell them, they told me it was on the wall (there wasn't one there). When I went to the front desk, they said they would bring me one, but they did not show before I had to leave.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the comments, and my sincere apologies for the lack of hair dryer and a delivery as well. Most unacceptable. Your comments have been shared, AND a few hair dryers are now at the desk as well so we can quickly accommodate should this happen again. I hope we see you again so we have the opportunity to turn this negative into a positive, I am sure we can. My Best, Jan

"Kids loved it!"

04/09/2016

Great family hotel, lots to do for the kids and the indoor pools were a hit! Two smaller slides for the little kiddos, one big slide for the bigger kids, and I was very happy to have two separate pools for each age group not to mention an extra outdoor pool. Hot tub was nice but really enjoyed the in room jacuzzi in our suite. The shower in the suite was more then family sized and had 6 spouts, a rainfall shower head, and a standard shower head which made for an excellent steam room in the morning. Restaurant had good food as well, pizzas were tasty, salads were fantastic, and kids eat for 99 cents! We will be back for sure!

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the awesome post, sounds like you really had fun! We are delighted, that's the goal!!!:) Hope to see you again, Jan and Team

We chose this hotel for the free water park & pool which were super fun for my kids ages 2 and 5... Other hotels in the area you have to pay an additional 18/pp over 3 years old for watiki water park entrance). The beds and pillows were ok, not super comfortable (kind of what you expect at a best western), the room was dated, but clean. I think we had a former pet room as some of the furniture was chewed. Room had a fridge and microwave which was helpful. There was no breakfast included, in our stay, however the hotel is very centrally located to shopping and restaurants! This place is right next to the hwy! We asked for a room by the pool and didn't hear any road noise! There are a lot of choices in Sioux Falls, I wouldn't stay here again.

Thank you for sharing your experience; I would lobby for you to try us again and watch the improvements! Most are public area, meeting space and pool area this year but next year starts new guest rooms. We'll continue to provide a clean and well maintained, and friendly environment. My Best, Jan

"Review for Sioux Falls BW"

The hotel was decent. The per son at the desk was very rough around the edges. The beds were okay. The air conditioner worked very well! I recently stayed at a different BW and the ac did not work well at all! The swim area was nice. However, the staff took up the only 2 tables from any guest being able to use the tables to sit and watch there kids in the slide area. They also had no one watching the slide and it got a little too dangerous when there were about 30 kids later in the evening. My smaller elementary kids had to get out due to the older kids rough housing and coming down the slide before the person ahead cleared the slide at the bottom. With that said, management assured me that this would be taken care of, so perhaps it's better now, I only stayed the one night at this hotel.

This is a nice facility, with everything you would need for an extended stay or a conference. The pool/water park/hot tube is very nice, and the fitness center has a good variety of machines. No free breakfast, but a nice restaurant on-site.

I purchased a hotwire discount not knowing which hotel we'd end up with but in the area we wanted. They staff is very friendly and the hotel large. We had a room facing the pool which gave us easy access. It was very quiet once the pool was closed for the night. The beds themselves were very comfortable, but the room itself felt dingy and not entirely clean, the bathroom didn't have a vent fan and had stains on the walls and the floors. The pool area was very large and looked better during the day, I would prefer better lighting at night. However, like the rooms, it felt dingy and in need of a thorough cleaning. Also, it needs a more user friendly system for towels. The pool towels need to stay at the pool and the room towels in the room. Since you're wet from the pool you get cold quickly on the walk to your room.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the comments, and my apologies if the room didn't seem very clean. I will surely share your comments with the department manager. We do power wash the pool area weekly and take down once a year for maintenance and toy refresh, and the lighting will be addressed this fall. I hope you will try us again, we're in a three year phase of many improvements. Sincerely, Jan

All of the employees went above and beyond when we arrived/stayed at this hotel. We loved the upgrade that was offered to us upon check-in. Best Coffee ever.... We checked in late and got one of the best nights sleep. We would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay at this location

First time in Sioux Falls, stopped in for a couple nights on our way to Iowa. Was checking out the Sioux Empire fair and stayed at the Best Western near by. Great location, free shuttle to the events we wanted to go to. And to anywhere else in the city if needed. Nice room, connected to the pool area. Outdoor pool also a nice touch. Would definitely stay again!

We stayed at 4 other BW hotels before we stayed at this one. It was very clean. It had two restaurants and we used the sports bar. Great service. We asked to be located far away from the pool area and we were very pleased with our room. Internet worked very well. Beds were very good and room size was the best we had of the 5 nights we stayed at any hotel.

Made reservation almost 8 months ago at same time I purchased concert tickets because of the shuttle to arena. Read recent Trip Advisor reviews night before arrival & was very concerned about the 1 from Ken on Aug 5. We arrived several hours before regular check in & spoke to Jan, General Manager about our concerns. She was very professional & provided us with enough information to make us feel comfortable enough to check in. We rode in with 2 motorcycles &had concerns about bad weather being forecast. Jan allowed us to park in front of hotel in an area that had cover for some protection & also told us where they have a bike wash station.Biker friendly! If you are a HOG member ¬ signed up with Best Western HOG Rewards I would encourage you to do this. Hotel was not full so we requested a free upgrade & we were given a 2 room jacuzzi suite with 2 bathrooms. We ate lunch in the onsite restaurant..was jalapeno soup/sandwich/salad bar/dessert buffet..very good..everything fresh. Bob the shuttle driver made sure he got us to the concert venue & back with no wait. He is a very sociable fella! Tammy from Housekeeping had our room very clean & tidy. PS when we checked into our room we did thourough check of bed &mattress to increase our personal comfort level. No evidence of any problem...all was nice & clean!

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much Carol for the very nice comments, I appreciate them so much. I am thrilled we met your expectations and you had a great time in Sioux Falls. "Better Places To Stay"

05/08/2016

This property is older and in need of some serious updating. The convention/meeting rooms seemed to be ok and the pools were very nice. I am a Best Western Rewards member and this is probably the worst one I have stayed at. I stayed here because my original reservation at a different property was screwed up and they were overbooked. I found out later that the last meeting my company had at this property one of my coworkers suffered from severe bug bed bites.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for sharing your comments, and I do apologize we did not meet your standards. We are in the midst of a 3 year upgrade, so the dated areas will be leaving us to our delight. As for a coworkers situation, we take this very common nuisance in hotels, colleges, nursing homes, hospitals, retail, very, very seriously and address with an professional pesticide company immediately. It's expensive but the right thing to do, and the cost of doing business. It has zero to do with the cleanliness, the only time a business needs to have regret is if they don't take care of it properly. They too are travelers, in guests items, luggage. If you give me a call I'd be happy to issue some Reward Points for your inconvenience. Respectfully, Jan Grunewaldt

Nice accommodations with big family room. Wet carpet due to leaking A/C unit and shower didn't drain properly. When I told the front desk staff, they didn't seem to care. They just said "thanks" and that was it.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the comments, and my genuine apology for the mediocre response, totally unacceptable and will be shared. Our team is trained to 'own it' or get support. My apologies this didn't happen. 30/07/2016

Beautiful outdoor and indoor pools. Hadn't been in an outdoor pool in 30 yrs. Had a great time with the grandkids. Made us feel young again. It was also pet friendly, which was needed otherwise we wouldnt have been able to make the trip. Very nice bar to sit back and relax at after a late night dip in the pool. All in all it was a wonderful weekend spent with our entire family, 10 in all (even the dog) in adjoining rooms. We stayed here many many years ago and it has been added on to and updated. it is now the only place i care to stay when visiting Sioux Falls.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review

"Big Hotel- a bit pricey"

4
26/07/2016

We stayed at this hotel on a Thursday evening in hopes it would be less busy, that was not the case. The hotel is very big but for $140 for an outside poolside room it was a bit pricey, the room really smelled like chlorine and there was mold on the ceiling in the shower. A bit disappointing at that price point. The front desk was GREAT, they even found us some plastic silverware! The kids really enjoyed the 2 pool areas so for them it was worth it in the end.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the comments, I will look for that room asap and get that ceiling addressed. I am glad overall you enjoyed your experience. My Best, Jan

"A Handy Location near the Interstate"

24/07/2016

This was a very busy hotel and it showed it. We found the layout akin to a maze, but finally figured it out. The on-site restaurant is nice and the food and service are good, although it would be nice if they could open before 7 a.m. We had a long day ahead and wanted to get going. Since we were headed west on 90, it was a convenient stop.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review

"Air Show Weekend"

4
24/07/2016

If your going to visit Sioux Falls for their air show this is the hotel to use. Specially if you have a family. It is minutes away from the airport and offers a free shuttle to the air show. (Saves you the $4 per person for the parking and shuttle service the air show offers). They will also pick you up afterwards when you call them. The wait was acceptable (15 min) considering there were thousands of other people leaving the air show as well. The check in staff were amazing and polite. I was disappointed that as a diamond member I was not upgraded to a nicer bigger room and was going to ask for the upgrade until I found out the hotel was sold out. However I had booked my room 6 weeks in advance which would have given them ample time to upgrade me and reserve a larger room. (Hence why I gave them the 4 out of 5 ratting) A simple apology would also have been nice to hear but was never given. The hotel offers two pools, one outside and one inside. The outdoor pool is great for adults or children who just want to swim or relax by a pool. There were plenty of seats and loungers and we never had to wait for a spot to open up. The inside pool is a walk in and is fantastic for the younger members. It has two baby/toddler slides and some other activities for them to do. It also has a separate pool that has a water slide for the older kids with an area for you to play basketball in the pool. The only downside is that there were never enough towels so you had to wait and watch for them to bring more out and grab them before they were gone. The room was ok but considering it is a Plus hotel I was expecting more. It is not new or modern but was fine for what we needed. It had a fridge and a microwave for our convince. It is a short 7 min drive to the Empire Mall and other stores with lots of restaurants to choose from. Over all a great family weekend.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments, and I hope you enjoyed the Air Show! I apologize for not verbally acknowledging the lack of upgrade, I will use your words as a training tool this morning for our staff. I am glad overall you enjoyed the hotel and it's amenities. I hope we'll see you again. My Best, Jan and Team

"Not so nice."

21/07/2016

They put us in a room that smelled like a cattle yard and was not well cleaned, room 1065. The front desk was good about moving us to a normal miss class room, 1019. Definitely the hotel of last resort.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
My apologies for your experience, I will check this room immediately. If you are in our area again please give me a call personally so we can guarantee an excellent experience. Respectfully, Jan

"Great location with lots of parking"

4
21/07/2016

I stayed here on a week night business trip. I was in awe at the amount of parking available. The hotel itself has a very difficult floor plan to navigate through. The hotel itself is somewhat old and shows it in places. They have an on sight restaurant and lounge that was nice. The only problem I had was that the shower liners REEKED of a mold type smell! Living in south Florida as I do you have to change them often or wash them. Other than that It was a nice place to stay.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the comments, and glad overall you enjoyed your stay. We change the shower curtains almost daily so that is disappointing to hear. Should you stay with us again please always call the manager on duty, we want to solve issues immediately to ensure a great stay for our guests. My Best, Jan

"Looking forward to the renovations in 2017"

20/07/2016

The hotel and restaurant staff were polite and helpful - around the clock. And the price was excellent. The waterpark area was very fun for the kids, but somewhat limited for older children (e.g. 12 yrs and older). The din was incredible, but I think that's normal for an indoor waterpark. They did have an outdoor pool as well, but we did not use it. We enjoyed the variety of seating areas throughout the hotel, and found places to have a quiet chat. The restaurant and food were pretty middle of the road but the server made the difference. The rooms themselves left something to be desired, however. On the plus side, having a fridge and microwave was great. The bathroom and seating were serviceable and clean but clearly outdated. The worst part of the room was the bed - it was incredibly hard and impossible to sleep on - despite my being exhausted from a long day. I ended up using all of the pillows to make a surface on the bed that I could actually fall asleep and stay asleep on. Maybe if you prefer a really, really firm mattress this is the place for you? Or just use pillows and make your own lumpy pillowtop, like I did. If they change out the mattresses in the renovation, I would definitely go back. If they don't, I will never be back to this hotel, despite having family in the area and traveling to Sioux Falls regularly. (Oh, side note - they really need accessible entrances at all doors! Only the front doors are accessible. Even able-bodied folks like the push openers for when our hands are full.)

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the detailed comments, and yes, we will be upgrading all mattresses as well, my apologies you found the bed uncomfortable. I hope we see you again! Respectfully, Jan

"Traveling through South Dakota/Mt Rushmore"

17/07/2016

The stay started out rough as our room was indoor poolside, which was quite noisy. Staff was very accommodating in giving us a new room. The most amazing part of the stay was Bob, the shuttle driver. Not only was he friendly and a wealth of knowledge, but when we told him we were going to need the shuttle for jazz fest that evening, he provided his own personal canvas chairs for us to use to make sure we we were comfortable and had an enjoyable evening. Service far beyond the usual or expected. Restaurant hostess in the morning was also very accommodating. All in all, a very good experience. Stay there if you get the chance!

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the great feedback, and the nice comments about Bob. He is the best for sure, and will be compensated because you used his name in a positive way. So glad you enjoyed the Jazz Fest, I hope you got to hear Andra Day on Saturday night...........she blew me away. Bought her music on Sunday and loving it! I hope we see you again next year! "Unexpectedly surprised! "

15/07/2016

Booked one night reservation on hotwire so didn't know what to expect. This hotel was a pleasant surprise! Rooms were spacious and clean and the beds were comfortable. Room has mini fridge, with freezer space and a microwave. Indoor waterpark was a hit with my kids. It is a park rather than a pool. Has a large toddler area, a small pool with basketball hoop and decent water slide. Our room faced the waterpark and I was fearful of the noise but the waterpark closed, with lights off, at 10:00pm. Ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant. It was ok. Friendly service and good food (with free coffee). Only complaint is that the room had no information about the hotel. There was nothing about the restaurant, the pool hours or wifi password. Usually hotel rooms are inundate with hotel info. This room had none.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for taking time to comment on your experience, so glad you enjoyed your stay. There should have been a tan laminated card next to your remote with instructions where all the hotel directory info is on the TV. My apologies if the card was not in the room. Hope to see you again! First and foremost I have to thank the staff for making our stay delightful. Every staff person from front desk to housekeeping was wonderful. The hotel has it all. "Great pool! "

4
10/07/2016

Fantastic pool! My kids enjoyed the indoor water park and the outdoor pool. The outdoor pool allows for swimming while the indoor water park is for fun. The Jets on the hot tub didn't work???? The older gentleman who worked the pool area was nice and always mopping, putting towels out, tending to things. They had 2 high school boys in the evening who sat on thier butts on thier phones and didn't do anything. Not the hotel's fault guess that's how society is evolving. Our room didn't have a shower curtain but called down to the the front desk and within 10 minutes the staff was putting in new curtain. They apologized several times and my theory was "hey at least they launder them!!" Some places you never know! It's a huge place so takes you a minute to remember where you parked and where everything is. The restaurants downstairs are great. Eat a Freddie Burger at the bar, yum!

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for such a detailed comments! And you are right on the shower curtain, the good news is we do launder them, that bad news, they forgot to go back! I appreciate the comments on the splash staff too, one will be rewarded for your recognition and the other two, not so much! Glad you enjoyed the Frankies burger too, we have really yummy food in there. Hope to see you and your family again. My Best, Jan and Team

I would recommend this hotel for meetings and conventions, but it is also great for families. The water play land is large and features poolside rooms. 28/06/2016

The room was clean and comfortable. A/C was very noisy though, and kept us up. The restaurant was very expensive and does not offer gluten free options. Pool was fun for kids but not for adults, you weren't able to swim because the kids were jumping around.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments, I am sorry about that loud ac. I also apologize for the the disappointment in the restaurant pricing. We've worked to have priced fairly and sensitive to family dining, also with children eating for .99 with a paid adult. And we do have numerous gluten free options, I am sorry that was not communicated well to you. I am glad overall you had a pleasant stay. I hope we see you again! My Best, Jan

"Where do I begin?"

2
27/06/2016

First, I was charged for 4 adults and the 4th was actually a 17-year-old that should have been free but when I told the front desk, they told me they couldn't do anything about it. Then they made a charge to my card for incidentals but never told me they were doing it. Wifi didn't work. I had to be on the phone for at least half an hour before that would work. Currently, we have no air conditioning working in our room - all night long and it's in the 90s outside. I called the front desk twice (2nd time after more than an hour had passed), and they finally sent someone to our room. The sink had hair in it when we arrived, and hair was on the floor as well. The maintenance guys asked if they could bring a portable into our room if they can't fix it. I told them that's fine because I need to breathe, which currently has been tough to do (at least through my nose). Smoking allowed in the public places (including cigars). Bad stay - DO NOT STAY HERE - Not worth the money!

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for sharing your experience, and I am very sorry for the unpleasant stay. I have no way of researching your stay to address any of your comments, but if you booked via 3rd party in reference to being able to make any adjustments on site that would have been a correct statement. It takes our power away. You should have received a welcome call to confirm all was well with your room, and on your receipt is my phone number and email address, there is also a manager on duty on average 20 hours a day. We hope and work to have everything nice and working well for our guests, but if they are not, we want to know while you are here so we can correct. If you can give me a call I will make this right. My Best, Jan Grunewaldt

"Very disappointing"

2
26/06/2016

Problems from the start. We had trouble w/our room door. My brother had to connect toilet flapper to flush. Waterpark was so heavily chlorinated, my eyes burned & i hadn't entered the water. Outdoor pool never had towels. Three tries to cancel one room & still got charged. Front desk actually put my cousin's family of 4 in the cancelled room that only had a king bed. Now i get to have $116 held on my card 5-10 days until it drops off. Ridiculous! While trying yo cancel king room again, another person checked out and mentioned issues with doors. The best part was the pizza from the restaurant.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments, I wish we would have connected while you were still here so we could have addressed your concerns. I tried researching your stay and it appears it was a group block without names attached making it difficult for me to see why there was a cxl; the money blocked for incidentals is a per night fee and there is a sign at the desk, and we try to verbally note as well. I am sorry if that didn't happen. The money is held, but not charged unless used, and we release right away, it's the guests bank that takes 3-5 business days. If you can give me a call I'd be happy to make this right for you and your family. We're better than your experience. My Best, Jan Grunewaldt

26/06/2016

Went up to Sioux Falls for a concert and one reason we picked this place to stay was that had a shuttle. Now the shuttle was outstanding and the driver Bob was super great! But the shuttle was the highlight of the hotel. The lobby was beautiful so I thought this is going to be good....wrong. Our room itself was small and clean, the bathroom was smaller than a hall closet. We could barely put our stuff in there. The toilet squealed every time we flushed it. The bathroom door was coming apart and the door to our room had to be closed. I mean usually when you leave a hotel room it will automatically close behind you but our room door had to be physically pulled shut. We went to the sports bar and grill for dinner before the concert and the food was awful. I am so glad that we were only there for one night. If you go say hello to "Bob" but then turn around and run as fast as you can.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for sharing your experience, and Bob will be compensated because you used his name in a positive way, and hope you enjoyed the concert. I am sorry you were disappointed in the food in Frankies, your comment is not the norm. I will look at the room you stayed in today and we'll address the toilet and door; on the back of your receipt my email and phone number is there, and we encourage our guests to ask for a manager before they leave if they were unsatisfied so we can address right then. We genuinely do our very best every day, but if we drop the ball, we always want to make it right. As for the comparison from lobby to guest room, we are in the first phase of a three year property improvement and next year is guest rooms. I heard clean and good service in your note, so I'd hope you'd try us again so we can turn this negative into a positive, I am sure we can. Sincerely, Jan Grunewaldt

"Do not stay here"

22/06/2016

I arrived on May 31 leaving on June 1, 2016 After a long day of travel my friends and I stopped at the Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel. After checking in I notices cookies are the front desk counter and punch. After placing a cookie on a napkin, a woman at the front desk said the cookies were only for the guests from New Zealand who drive mustang cars. I was shocked, she told me I would have to return the cookie and watched me until I returned the cookie. When I tried to unlock the door of my room I could not get in the green light would not turn on, returning to the front desk I was told I had to pull up very hard on the handle. Returning to the room I did get the room door to open part way the security lock from inside the door was latched. It was a pool side room and someone told me there is a door on the other side of the room, after finding the other door I went into a very hot room...the air did not work. I returned and was given another room the air conditioner worked, the tub was dirty, unfortunately I did shower in it. For the first time I have a foot fungus... the pool is nice and the café was good.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you very much for your comments, I am very sorry for how we handled the cookie situation and the frustration with your stay. We are better than that and I am embarrassed. Should you be in our area again please call me and we'll make sure everything is perfect with fresh warm cookies too! My Best, Jan

At the last minute we changed our reservation to this hotel because our first choice hotel had to drain their pool. We were not disappointed. Easy check in. We were walked to our room. Room was nice and clean. Big bathroom area. Great pool that our three elementary aged school kids loved and stayed in for hours. We ordered take out from the restaurant and ate by the pool. Food was good. Steak was a bit overcooked though. And only one small ketchup container for five of us to share. Nice kids club with welcome package and flavored water at the front desk. We would come back and recommend. Will be staying with Best Western again soon.

Jan G, Front Office Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments, I am so glad you enjoyed your visit here. AND joined the Kids Club, we're really proud of that program and know kids love it. Hope to see you again! My Best, Jan and Team

"Don't bother!"

20/06/2016

The only thing this hotel had going for it was the swimming pool. The lobby is deceiving because it's the only clean and nice area of the hotel. The lights in one of the stairwells was so full of dead bugs it made it dim. There are also cobwebs everywhere full of dead bugs. We had our air conditioning set on high and it never got below 70 degrees in our room. My parents had a room where the air conditioning was completely broke and they sat there for 3 hours trying to fix it before we asked to have them move to another room. When I looked on their air conditioner there was about an inch of dust caked on it. We complained about our air conditioning and they said there was nothing they could do about it. I am not usually a hard person to please but for the price a little cleanliness would have been nice.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your observations and comments, not too flattering! I am embarrassed and very sorry. I wish we could have connected when you were here, if you give me a call we'd be happy to make it right. I have also shared your comments with our team and the issues will be addressed. I truly believe your experience is not our norm, and hope we have an opportunity to turn this negative into a positive. My Best, Jan Grunewaldt

"Excellent customer service"

20/06/2016

I don't typically have high expectations for a Best Western but this hotel had great customer service. They obviously care about guests and go above and beyond to make people feel welcome. I was there for a conference and was delighted with the attention to detail they demonstrated.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for your kindness and nice comments. We do care about our guests and our impact on them very much, there are many of us in every department that have been here 1 to 50 years, and we come to work everyday and do what we love, we're in the people business. I am so glad you enjoyed your visit. Our Best, Jan and Team

"Glad We Stopped"

19/06/2016

We stopped at this location after a 13 hour car ride with 3 children and a senior citizen. The water park was great for the kids. There is plenty of seating to sit and watch the kids enjoy the park. There is a very nice outdoor area with a pool and plenty of seating there too. We had a room with two queen beds and a roll away bed. The room was plenty big for all of us. The room was clean. The bathroom was clean. The beds were comfortable. The hotel was packed and we were near the pool and water park area. However, it was very quiet. We heard nobody in the halls or outside. Very nice stay and we would definitely stay here again.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the comments, we're glad you stopped too!!! We hope to see you again! Our Best, Jan and Team

"UNEXPECTED DRIVING"

16/06/2016

The hotel personnel were very friendly and helpful. I needed to leave keys at the desk to be picked up and that all went as planned. I felt the bed was a bit firmer than I am accustomed to and would have preferred a pillow top mattress. Other than that the premise was clean, nice thick towels, an attached restaurant (I stopped in just for a glass of ice when leaving). Good experience, I would stay here again.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the nice comments, we appreciate so much! I am thrilled to tell you next year is our schedule property improvement year for rooms and pillow top mattresses will be on the list for sure! Hope to see you again, My Best, Jan and Team

"Not worth the money"

16/06/2016

We had reserved a king bed. When we got our keys, realized that our room was locked from the inside with no way to open it. Informed the front desk, who was thoroughly annoyed and we got moved to a double queen room, they stated that they had no more kings. The room smelled like it was a former smoking room. Didn't get a good night sleep because the ac unit was noisy every time it started up. The room needed updating, curtains were off the clips on the Windows. Just wasn't too pleased.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments; I am very sorry for your frustration. I wish we would have had a chance to visit, I am positive we could have turned this negative into a positive. There are at least 5 pieces of collateral between the check in and check out process where we note and provide names, emails, phone numbers for resources to connect with someone immediately that will provide action. We couldn't mean it more, we want our guests to have a great experience and if we've dropped the ball in some fashion, we WILL make it right. I hope you will give us another opportunity. As well, we do have an aggressive update plan in process in some meeting space right now and guest rooms are next year..........yippee! Thank you again, Jan and Team

"Sioux Falls Ramkota is the Way to Go"

09/06/2016

The Ramkota in Sioux Falls met all our needs coming back from Alaska to South Dakota. The pool area was incredible and they let us ask our son and his family in for swimming and a little reunion. We will never stay any other place in Sioux Falls.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you SO much for such a great post, and I am thrilled for your experience, those family connections are the best for us all and far and few between! Our lovely outdoor pool is open now too, more fun memories to be made!! Check out the board in the lobby with all the neat things to do in Sioux Falls! Hope to see you again, Jan and Team

"Awesome water park, Horrible hotel"

1
06/06/2016

The first room that we were assigned had broken springs and a stained mattress in the sofa bed, as well as food debris on the mattress and sheets of the sofa bed. We were then switched to a different room in which one of the sinks didn't drain, and the drain in one of the showers was very slow. Additionally, the temperature regulator for one of the showers would either put out only hot water or cold water, and the temperature could not be regulated. On top of that, the surrounding rooms and hallway were very noisy and the noise carried and woke up our children multiple times. We asked the hotel staff to look at the drains on the shower and the sink, but they weren't addressed during our stay.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for sharing your experience, I am very sorry and embarrassed. I am aware of your stay and thought you were compensated, if I misunderstood please give me a call so we can make this right. Incidentally, a replacement mattress was on order for that room and has since arrived and put into room. If you will give us another try so we can turn this negative into a positive please call me directly for a discounted next stay so we can knock this out of the park, I am sure we can. Sincerely, Jan Grunewaldt

Hot tub is usually dirty; pool is too crowded. This stay there was a large black bug in bathroom that went under the stool- the person said he did not know what to do. we did not get showers because of the bug. I asked for discount at desk and they refused I told them to seal the stool to the floor to keep the bugs out

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for sharing your experience; first and foremost, I am very sorry for how this was handled. I hope you will give Ted or me a call at your earliest convenience so we can make this right. Thank you, Jan Grunewaldt

21/05/2016

The rooms are nice with outside entrances next to your car. But the Amphitheaters with seating and projection equipment are nicer than anywhere I have ever stayed. Loved it. The food was good. Nice staff.

17/05/2016

Good room with in room access to the pool. The bar had good bartenders who knew how to make a drink and offered good food which we ate on 4 occasions. The restaurant had a buffet breakfast or cook to order which was very good and reasonable priced. Grandkids loved the pool amenities. Easy freeway access. overall very happy with my 6 day stay.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the wonderful comments, looks like you got to experience and enjoy everything, in just a few short weeks our lovely outdoor pool will be open too, double the fun!!! Thank you again, Jan and Team

This is a very large hotel. It has easy access to freeway and convenient for travel throughout Sioux Falls. The airport was close and the view was so-so, but we couldn't hear any noise. The room was very large with sofa and other chairs. Would definitely recommend to families traveling in the area.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for your comments, we appreciate them so much. And really happy you enjoyed your experience with us. Hope to see you again! Sioux Falls has so much to offer all year but comes ALIVE in the summer, come back end enjoy! Our Best, Jan and Team

17/05/2016

The room was clean and comfortable. The pool is more for younger kids. The big slide is only open from 4-8 so our children were disappointed they didn't get to go on it. But overall it was a nice stay.

"Nice hotel. Pool needs more safety measures in place."

3
10/05/2016

Nice hotel, friendly staff, comfortable beds. The pool looked dirty and going down the slide the water splashed in my mouth which was extremely salty. There definitely needs to be more staff in the pool area for safety measures. A bunch of teenage boys out of control playing water basketball with little kids around and one of the teenagers ended up splitting his head wide open, blood everywhere. We would stay again but definitely needs work on the pool area.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for sharing your experience, and apologize for the pool experience. We will get that addressed! Hope to see you again, My Best, Jan and Team

08/05/2016

Good location and staff friendly-but they do not offer a breakfast. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. It is close to the freeway and about 10 minutes away from any chain restaurant. If you have children they do have a indoor water slide.

07/05/2016

We had stayed there 3 years before and had enjoyed it, but this visit wasn't as nice. The older lady at the desk was fairly difficult to deal with and didn't start the stay off well. The pool was ok, but the hot tub needs repair on the jets and didn't look very clean. Room was good, but overall the whole place could use a remodeling upgrade.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you very much for the feedback; we will look into your comments. I am happy to tell you the remodeling is well on it's way! Meeting space is this year and some items in the pool area and 2017 is all new guest rooms, we're thrilled. We hope to see you again, Jan and Team

"Family hotel"

05/05/2016

The hotel is a little run down, we've actually stayed here twice. The kids love the pool, but the rooms are a little dirty and need updating. The bar food is poor and the breakfast buffet is poor quality. We were even here one night they had a rap concert in the conference room and it brought in a pretty shady crowd.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for sharing your experience, your comments are comments I don't hear often and not acceptable. I am very sorry! You should have received a welcome call, as well as a letter on your bed saying if everything did not meet your expectations to ask to speak to myself or the manager on duty. We couldn't mean that more, it's our opportunity to make things right on the spot so you enjoy your experience. I hope we have an opportunity to turn this negative into a positive, I am sure we can. Sincerely, Jan

05/05/2016

Recently we hosted a conference at the BW Ramkota in Sioux Falls. Every single staff person we encountered was exceptional. They went above and beyond, anticipating our every need. Our banquet was for 370 people and they had us served with our delicious meal in no time. Very professional, friendly, and accommodating. The hotel is immaculate, the rooms are very comfortable, clean, and refreshing. Staff was never hard to locate, they were always willing to drop what they were doing to make our conference guests comfortable and never wanting for anything. Marvelous experience. Great price.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you SO much Sandy!!! We are so proud to be the host site for your group, and now it feels like old friends making a spring visit, delighted with our friendship!! Enjoy the summer! Jan and Team

Our stay at the Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel was wonderful. Service in all areas was great. Two of the waitresses, Rachel and Kaele, were really outstanding in personal attention. Looked forward to seeing them each day. The food was great. The kids all had a fabulous time in the water park. We booked our four rooms through Priceline and the rates were unbelievable! It's location to the highways made all the attractions accessible. Look forward to staying there again.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the nice comments, we appreciate them so much! And on Rachel and Kaeles behalf, thank you as well. Because you used their names in a positive way they will put an extra $20.00 in their pocket. They will be thrilled and I love doing it! Hope to see you again, Jan and Team

The hotel provided a great waterpark area for children, clean rooms, quiet environment. Has a restaurant on the property and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are average but acceptable for the price I paid.

Thank you for sharing your experience, we appreciate it so much. In reference to the sleeping rooms I am so excited to tell you we are redoing our guest rooms top to bottom in 2017! Good stuff to come! Hope to see you again. My Best, Jan and Team

"Pleasant Business Stay"

30/04/2016

Despite a slightly confusing layout, I had a pleasant stay. The rooms were great, and the staff friendly. Meals for the large conference I was at were minorly inconvenient, as they were served in a different room than the seating. Good destination hotel, but not many attractions in walking distance.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments; glad you enjoyed the conference. In reference to sites within walking distance, we are very close to a bike/walking trail that will take you either on a nice walk to right downtown and to other attractions. Constant changes are coming to our area as well, it's an exciting time of change. We hope to see you again! My Best, Jan and Team

I recently had the opportunity to put my family up at the best Western Ramkota in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I cannot adequately express my joy and pleasure derived from the excellent service my family and I received at the Ramkota. Haley was the first smiling face we met at the front desk. She was awesome. So nice. So knowledgeable. We also enjoyed the shuttle service, with our wonderful driver and attendant, Ian. Talented driver...really knew his way around Sioux Falls. A safe and courteous chauffeur. And finally there was Molly. She was absolutely fantastic! She greeted us with a big broad smile and a pleasant tone of voice. She listened closely and met every question with confidence. Molly was so personable, professional, pleasant and authentically friendly! She received and responded to our many questions with patience, poise, and precision. She is an incredible asset to any organization of which she is a part. Molly seemed to genuinely care about our silly little weekend plans, as if she were a part of them. She was vested in our happiness, and in the success of our stay. In my line of work I have dealt with thousands in the hotel and restaurant industry. I have often paid far higher fees to hotels with a professional concierge service, while receiving far inferior customer service than that which we received from Molly. She was wonderful! Thank you, Ramkota. Thank you, Molly. What a great stay.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the awesome comments on Haley, Ian and Molly! Thrilling They will be receiving extra compensation for you mentioning their names positively, on their behalf, thank you again. We hope to see you and your family again! Our Best, Jan and Team

"Don't expect room service"

21/04/2016

Stayed at this Ramkota 4 days, 3 nights. Room was ok, not remodeled as we had been told. Bath fan annoyingly noisy, hole in the shower tiled wall, where a soap dish had been moved and a smaller round metal disc placed sloppily over the square hole leaving a gap for water to get in...ugg. Noticed other things replaced & workmanship shoddily done. Next morning a knock on our door before 9AM...maid service . Asked if they could come back as we would be leaving shortly. Left 15-20 minutes later & returned after 5pm to find bed unmade, nothing replaced or cleaned. Spoke with front desk who said they would send someone. Waited but no one came and as we were to meet others, finally walked to the front desk. Commented on lack of service and they asked if we wanted someone sent down???! We said yes, again. Manager made excuses that we had turned away the maid service in the morning and on how busy they were. No apology. We didn't really get a sense that she cared. Maid did finally arrive and ask what we wanted done?! She did do a good job though. Following day we left early, arriving late afternoon...no room service, AGAIN. Glad we brought extra coffee...no room service no refills!! Had to take our towels down to the desk for new ones....same personnel at desk. Asked if we wanted maid service??! I commented 'I shouldn't have to ask!! Reply was "I know". Others in our party staying in various parts of this hotel had same experience. We will not be staying with Ramkota again.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments as disappointing as they are. Please give myself or Ted a call and we will make this right. Your experience is totally unacceptable and not who we are. I would really like to make this right and have you back to show you the real way we get things done! Sincerely, Jan Grunewaldt

19/04/2016

The night started at the front desk. The front desk clerk didn't seem to have time to check me in. After getting through that little fiasco, we got to our room. The key wouldn't work! It wasn't just a key not programmed, the lock wouldn't work. The maintenance man arrived & got us In a half hour later. After meeting the rest of our group, we found out all of our doors didn't work. One wouldn't even lock. If you pushed hard the door would open on its own. Really safe with kids in the room!! That night our AC wouldn't cool & never did the rest of the weekend. Maintenance came out again but it never cooled. The restaurant was overwhelmed at breakfast & service sucked! The food was mediocre at best. Frozen butter for toast etc... The hotel needs to be upgraded badly. I remember when Ramkota was a leader in the industry. Not so much anymore.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments, and I apologize for all of your inconvenience. I wish we'd had a chance to visit or someone from our team while you were still here. Should you decide to try us again please give me a call. We are in the process of a three year Property Improvement Plan as well so you will be seeing improvements. Thank you again, Jan Grunewaldt

18/04/2016

The hotel room was perfect for our business trip! Comfortable bed, relaxing shower, and pretty quite throughout our stay. We used the refrigerator for some left-over food and it kept it nice and cold. We didn't care much for the coffee in our room, but the coffee in the restaurant was very good. Overall, a very lovely stay in the hotel.

18/04/2016

Easy access to this hotel but for the time of year and fact breakfast was not included in this Best Western Plus we will likely consider other hotel properties in the future. We had no complaints otherwise.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments. I surely understand your comments about breakfast. We do have complimentary coffee in the lobby every morning and a grab and go breakfast available if you ask at the desk for your inconvenience or if leaving earlier than our restaurant opens. Sincerely. Jan

"Bad from beginning to end"

1
17/04/2016

After a lengthy check-in, we went to our room. We were unable to access our room with the key. We went back to the front desk and maintenance was sent to our room. Supposedly he fixed the door, even though we could not get in it all weekend without thrusting our whole body on the door to get in. The pool entrance door lock did not work once. The pool area was extremely warm and very loud. Not a good location for any conversation. Our room never got cooler than 75 degrees even though set the thermostat at 60. Maintenance "fixed" this too. The service in restaurant was slow, rude and unaccommodating. The food was below par and all we had was breakfast. Save your money, way overpriced and underserviced!

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments; I am very sorry we did not meet either one of our expectations. Our management team is accessible am and pm; er are here to address any concerns on the spot and make it right. I wish we'd had the opportunity. Please give me a call if you decide you'd like to try us again and I will ensure all your concerns are addressed. Sincerely, Jan Grunewaldt

"This is not a Best Western Plus"

2
17/04/2016

I was disappointed to find out that my $100 plus room did not include breakfast. When I asked the female night supervisor she advised they had no knowledge of BW and was not aware of the BW mobile app. She made it clear they were independent and did not care what the BW app told me. I found the front desk staff rude and uncaring. Why be affiliated with BW when the staff makes it clear they could care less about BW customers ? The hotel had a sign that says if they don't greet you as a BW rewards member they will give you one dollar. What a joke.....what you really get is distain and no special welcome except rudeness. This is a huge hotel which is quite old and in need of some TLC. My room was a five minute walk from the lobby. If you want to stay at a Convention Center this hotel is for you. If you are travelling and expect what you are used to at a BW plus choose another location.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments, we appreciate hearing the good and bad, only helps us to be better. I do hope you received Ted's email earlier this week as well. We are very proud to be a Best Western and associated with the organization. The supervisor you spoke of is a great girl and didn't articulate the message very well. Again, for that I am very sorry. I hope you will try us again so we can turn this negative into a positive, I am sure we can! Sincerely, Jan Grunewaldt

The only problem I had with the room was that the HVAC unit was not working properly - I attempted to make the room cooler but I was unable to cause the temp go below 74 - even though I set the temp at 59!!!

13/04/2016

Motel is a decent place overall. Neighborhood looked ok. Check-in did not go so well. Had us on record, but did not have rooms ready by the time we checked in about 5:00 or so that night. Room was good, but arranged oddly where the walkway was not very open from the room entrance area into the bed area. Furniture (closet) narrowed the opening to where one had to be careful walking through in the dark. Shower water was pretty cool (luke cold , but not icy cold) one morning. Cold showers suck. the rest of my group had same problems. Hotel staff were all very nice. Check out was good.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the comments, we do appreciate them. My apologies on the water situation, we did have an issue with our boiler that weekend that was resolved that very day. I do hope you'll try us again so we have a much better impact on your stay which I am sure we can do! My Best, Jan

11/04/2016

Delphine in the pub and grill did a great job. We stayed on a Sunday night,4/3/2016, during March Madness. The pub had a number of people at the bar along with a number of full tables. Delphine worked the room alone, made certain everyone had a drink, received their food in a timely fashion, visited a little with the customers and always had a smile and wonderful attitude. The food was good too. We also want to mention the great desk staff and Ian (?). This was the first road trip for our new dog. We mentioned this upon check-in and when we went to the restaurant in the event of any problem. All were extremely nice, accommodating and as a result we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - including Bailey.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the great comments, so glad you AND Bailey enjoyed your stay and a little March madness with us! On behalf of Delphine and Ian, thank you as well! We hope to see you again, Jan and Team

"Staycation Sensation: A Home Away from Home"

5
10/04/2016

Our family required a much needed get away from the busy family and work schedules we keep. Living in Sioux Falls, when selecting a locale for a Staycation, expectations are understandably high. Why pay to stay at lodging in a city in which one lives if the offerings and experience are not exceptional and surpass the comforts of one's own home. In the Sioux Falls Best Western Plus, we are happy to say we've found a second home. This hotel, amenities, and staff provided us much more than that. We felt welcome, greatly served, and completely relaxed. The Maple Street Café and Room Service made meal planning while on staycation easy, affordable, and delicious. The Triple Threat (Mushroom Burger) and Lobster Sliders aimed and a succeeded in satisfying the whole family while providing that little extra touch of culinary class. Michelle the manager of the restaurant is second to none in the industry we have met. The amenities, such as the expansive indoor water-park, gave the children and us a taste of the tropics, while just a few miles from home and made our stay a wonderful time. Our suite was clean, comfortable, quiet, featured a refrigerator and microwave which made us feel at home, and was everything and more one would hope to expect. Finally, service is top priority while staying anywhere for our family. We are overjoyed to say that the FIVE-STAR service provided by our staff Molly was unmatched. We have routinely stayed in accommodations costing $500.00 a night for a room and on occasion have been disappointed. In the service we received from Molly, we would have gladly paid that and more. She took special care to welcome and make her available to us and our children, making our service feel like that which provides personal attendants. She also went out of her way to assist us with preparing a floral arrangement which we brought with us for our room. With the service provided by her, Michelle, Cindy and others we will exclusively recommend this hotel to those staying in Sioux Falls and return ourselves.

WOW WOW WOW...............THANK YOU so much for such an incredible review! Thrilled, and all those great employee's you mentioned will put an extra $20.00 in their pocket because their name was mentioned in a positive way, and I couldn't be happier to pay that out! If you come back in the summer our great outdoor pool will be open too, triple the fun! Jazz Fest maybe, swim all day, we'll drop you at the park and pick you up when you're ready to come "home". Thank you so much again for sharing your experience, we appreciate it so much! Our Best, Jan and Team

"Conference Stay"

09/04/2016

Stayed here three nights while attending a conference. Nothing exceptional about the hotel. Older property, but does appear to be maintained. Check-in and check-out were both cold. Clerks were both flat, not friendly or unfriendly, just flat. Room was okay, two beds. Mattresses seemed worn out - support was not very good. There was no mattress cover, which I prefer. Shower drained very slow, but in fairness, I did not report to front desk. I would not have stayed here if it were not where the conference was. Ramkota's seem to be older and well-used.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the frank comments, I appreciate them. I see us with clear eyes, we are indeed an older property, but very well maintained and clean, our employee's are dedicated and so nice, so I am very embarrassed on the mediocre desk associates and that will be shared for sure. The best part of this subject is it's changing, and in progress, full property reno with in the next three years, and all new guest rooms are 2017. Thank you again for your comments, I do hope you'll try us again, I genuinely believe the positives well outweigh the negatives. Sincerely, Jan

Great motel with great staff and service. We used the shuttle to get over to the event center both nights and had great service. The staff is very professional. With a number of events going on I thought the motel was very quiet. Each of the staff members seemed professional and treated us so well! The room was great for the price.

"Business Meeting"

07/04/2016

I was the speaker at an event held at the hotel and appreciated that the training rooms were right down the hall. Front desk check in was very friendly and Molly did a great job offering suggestions about dinner. I ate three meals at the hotel and the portions were huge and delicious. I only had one issue with the waiter when I was dining with a coworker. Although he was polite and stopped by the table to make sure everything was served correctly, every time he would call us "honey" or "dear" or "sweetie". This young man has potential as he was very attentive and friendly...his manager simply needs to advise him to say "can I get you "ladies" something else or use the word, "Ma'am. Other than that he was terrific!

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the thoughtful comments, we appreciate so much. Thank you on Molly's behalf as well, she will earn a little extra cash because you used her name in a positive way. AND Mr. Over-do-it will be spoke to today! We hope to see you back soon! My Best, Jan and Team

"It was ok"

06/04/2016

Staff was friendly and helpful and the boys enjoyed the pool even though it's geared for younger children. But the whole experience was just mediocre. The rooms were small and the beds were not very comfortable. (to firm). The tub didn't drain well so you were standing in about 2 inches of water while showering. You could also tell when someone in another room started or stopped showering because the water pressure and temperature would change. These things aren't a huge issue but the whole stay was disappointing. If you can get a deal (under $100) the it might be ok but I think I'll try someone else next time.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the comments, we appreciate hearing from our guests. Should you stay with us again and we're 'just ok' please ask to speak to me or the manager on duty; 9 times out of 10 we can go the extra mile and resolve any issue. I am thrilled to share as well over the next 2 years we will be undergoing a huge renovation so you will see improvements for sure! Sincerely, Jan

Check in was a nightmare. It was complete disaster. Said room was ready, then get up to room to find out not ready. Water was not warm for baths so questioned it and said to wait a little. Well waited till next morning and by then cold water for a shower. Four hours later still no hot water. The restaurant food was not bad. Service wasn't always the greatest - just not enough help for the amount of people. I felt they were trying. Waitress was frustrated as she had a lot going on but not always her fault n

Overall a good place to stay. Rooms are nice, a bit tired and some remodeled better than others. The hot water in our shower was backwards-plumbed in opposite for hot and cold int he shower. The pillows on the bed were typical hotel pillows, well used, clean and very soft. Cleanliness overall was good, lots of popcorn and wrappers int he stairway-but it was a very busy weekend at this hotel. Banquet food was average-over cooked roast beef, basic salad. The bar drinks were rather pricey for what you received, we ordered 2 meals/appetizers and and 2 rounds of drinks and the bill was almost $80 without the tip. Service was very good.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments, we will be remodeling all guest rooms in 2017 which we are very excited about. My apologies that you thought the food was just ok and expensive. I will share your comments with our team. I hope you enjoyed the conference! Sincerely, Jan

The hotel is large and sprawling. Rooms are nice and very clean. Beds are comfortable. The pool is a water park and as such there were many families with small kids running about. My only complaint was that a group of rooms by ours were using the hallway as the central party zone . It took 3 calls to the front desk to get them back in their rooms and then the sound still came through the walls

I and my family enjoyed staying here had fun in the pool. Wish more wrist bands were given but thats ok. The beds were pretty good to sleep in too. Enjoyed the non smoking too and it was very close to the interstate.

Thank you so much for the nice comments, really glad you enjoyed your stay. We too wish we could accommodate more wrist bands and actually used too, but the negative comments about how busy it was we just had to adjust for a positive experience for everyone. I recently arranged to have a private birthday party in the hotel's restaurant. Michelle, the restaurant manager was a pleasure to work with. Kat, our waitress did a wonderful job taking all of our orders and is to be commended. The room was set up just as planned. Everyone was happy with the meals they ordered. I had a steak and it arrived exactly as I ordered and the spices they used on my steak was awesome. I would highly recommend eating at the hotel restaurant.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you SO much for the wonderful comments, I am so happy your Birthday event went as planned. And thrilled for Michelle, Kat, and Clinton, our lead restaurant evening cook. They all take great pride in their work, and because you recognized them they will all receive an extra $20.00 as part of an in-house incentive program we have. On their behalf, once again, THANK YOU!!! We hope to see you and your family again, Our Best, Jan and Team

"Pets stay free!"

5
14/03/2016

Location is easy to get to, right off I-29. North side of Sioux Falls. Gas station is right across the street which makes it easy to fuel up and go. It was Sunday night, they were short staffed. The front desk clerk was very nice and helpful. I was thrilled when she told me that pets stay free! We had two dogs traveling with us. Our room was good size, two beds, non smoking. No funky smells and clean. Bathroom was small. Not much room in between the toilet and door. Water pressure and temperature was great. Sink was separate upon entry. I noticed a leak under the pipe. I put the garbage can under it and notified the front desk the next morning. It didn't bother us though, nothing major. I had to unplug the refrigerator as it was getting louder. The AC/Heat unit worked fine, although I wish all hotels would go to "central air and heat" and get ride of the window units. Ordering room service was a bit of a challenge. The menu was on the hotel directory on the television. It took awhile to navigate back and forth and for someone that is not "remote, tv, computer" savvy, it would be very difficult. Called the room service number several times, but no answer. Finally got through to the front desk and she apologized that they were so busy and short staffed. She walked our order over to the restaurant herself. We received our food, hot and fresh within 30 minutes from a very friendly gentleman. Also ordered room service breakfast the next morning. Again it came quickly from a very friendly girl. Food was hot and so good. Room service prices were some of the lowest I have seen. Not many "grassy" areas outside to walk the dogs, especially in the winter as it is covered with snow. But we managed. The beds were not too soft, not too firm. And we got plenty of nice pillows. Wi fi worked great. Check out Monday morning was a breeze and we were on our way home. We had never stayed here previously because I'm a bargain shopper and the price seemed high. I found a great rate on Hotwire and we gave it a try. I'm so glad we did! After you figure in that there is no pet deposit and there are nice restaurants onsite, the price comes out the same to that of a "budget hotel". We found our new stop in Sioux Falls! Thank you all at the Ramkota for making our stay so nice!

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the very detailed review, so glad you enjoyed your visit with us and we're your 'new spot'..........thrilled! Hope your 4 legged buddy got a treat! I have very mixed feeling about this place. I stayed here 3 nights and would stay again if the price is right. It is a little confusing to get to the first try. The staff is outstanding!!! The bar n grille was very nice food was good and they had free popcorn that I took back to my room every night. My room was large and clean with lots of outlets and surface space for the business traveler. It had a mini fridge, microwave, full size coffee maker and toaster. I was thrilled. But the walls are paper thin!!! Very noisy. I also had an issue of no hot water any of the mornings I was there. It was Luke warm at best. I got a very good price and feel like it was my best option.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the great comments, really appreciate all the positives. I will try to figure out what room you were in and have the mixing valve in the shower looked for the water as we've had no other comments indicating it would be a boiler issue. I am really sorry for that inconvenience. My apologies as well for the noise, a lot of our walls are concrete with the age of the building but of course many are not. Should you stay with us again please ask for Patrick our Front Office Manager and ask to be assigned right behind the front desk. It tends to be quieter in that hallway. Hope to see you again! Just passing through very late at night, and was very glad we saw this place and stopped here. Got checked in by a supermodel named mollie who was very professional and eager to give us info about the ammenities. The hotel was very busy with tournaments in town and the pool was packed with birthday parties and parents of kids who were in tournaments. It wasn't too crazy but the kids both had fun and met a lot of new little friends. We had the sink drain backup in the bathroom that took a plumber to fix since the maintenance workers weren't able to get it to drain. We received coupons for breakfast for the next morning for the inconvenience and that was appreciated. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the staff were all very friendly and we enjoyed our stay. When we returned the next night, the drain was cleared and everything was fine. We've stayed here a few times and the pool is so much fun for all ages. We'll be back again.

The people that work at this hotel are super friendly and kind. Especially Bob will show you around town and have wonderful ideas what to do around Sioux Falls. I hope the hotel will update their heating system in the next couple of years, it can get a bit loud for light sleepers. Overall the service and readiness of the staff to help with anything, made the hotel a very comfortable place to stay.

Thank you for your kind and detailed comments, AND thank you on Bob's behalf as well. "Lower end property masquerading as a higher end property"

3
09/02/2016

The Best Western Ramkota is an average property but it is old and still smells from the bygone days of full smoking hotels. They have updated some parts of the property and placed fancy dressing on others, but it doesn't hide the age or wear. The price does not reflect the value and they don't even offer a breakfast. The Wi-Fi is also terrible, although multiple hot spots are available they all drop. The staff struggled at check in, unable to find me in the computer although I was spelling my name, but did try to be helpful. I can only recommend staying if no other choice. I can recommend also if you don't have another option

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Lonnie, thank you for your frank comments. I would agree in some spots you see our age although we work very hard at being very clean and well maintained and to provide superior customer service trying to offset any negatives. I will look up what room you were in and the heat map for the internet because we've spent a tremendous amount of money upgrading and really get few comments. Good news however, this year we start our aggressive property improvement plan in which our entire hotel will be upgraded within the next three years, 2017 is guest rooms. I hope you hang in there with and us watching the improvements. If you give me a call the next time you wish to stay we'll do everything in our power for you to want to stay with us even when you do have a choice! Respectfully, Jan Grunewaldt General Manager

"Too over crowded."

3
26/01/2016

The only reason we stayed here was for the water park, and it was a disappointment. The pool was completely over crowded. There were more than 15 KIDS just in the hottub alone at all times, most of the time with no adult supervision, both nights that we stayed there. No parents were watching any of their own kids, most were sitting around the tables drinking. It was quite a hassle since my 4 1/2 year old only wanted to go down the kids slides, but other kids were trying to climb up, and with no other parents around I had to get after a couple of kids to get out of the way so that neither my child or the child being rude wouldn't get hurt. The hot tub was filthy, it was a dark color, and the smell of chlorine was so strong that we could only stand sitting in there for about 5 minutes at a time, I can only IMAGINE how often they clean it out. There were NO towels available in the pool area both nights we stayed, when I informed the front desk that there were no towels she handed me two "bath" towels. They didn't provide us with any other places in town to eat, only trying to "promote" their own restaurant which was overly priced. We also couldn't find a "do not disturb sign" in our room which is highly upsetting because we didn't want maid service, so we had to wait at the hotel until a maid came and we could inform her that we wouldn't want service. We lost power twice throughout the first night of our stay, and the second night the fire alarm was pulled by some little kid who thought it would be funny at SEVEN AM, with a fire alarm right outside our door. When telling the front desk she replied quickly with "we did everything we could to stop it". It went off and on for almost a HALF HOUR, all they did to try and prevent it was close all of the hallway doors. Other than that, the staff there were all very polite, and the room was very clean, the price we paid wasn't bad but I think we'll try somewhere else next time we're in the area.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you Brittany for your comments; first and foremost, I sincerely apologize for such a negative experience. To address a few of your comments, power going off twice was a city related, not building related but I do apologize for the inconvenience. And same as noted for the fire alarm, it was pulled by another guest which is so annoying and frightening for everyone. We are not allowed to silence the alarm even when we know it's a case like this because we don't want to put authority on any associate to make life and death decisions, a policy of this magnitude must be followed and it's per the fire department. They get here fast but it's a big building and they need to qualify and just not take our word for it. As for the whirlpool it is emptied every single Friday and Saturday night (and peak times) just for all the reasons you mentioned. I am also sorry we didn't keep up on the pool towels. I will visit with the desk associates about the restaurants comment, which in unusual. We do have a Visitors Guide with all kinds of suggestions and some coupons and it's given upon request all the time. I am sorry you felt our prices were too high, we've worked hard to provide good fresh food, nice portions at a reasonable price, and children do eat for .99 as well. In the morning your coffee is on us! If you would reconsider and visit again if you'd give me a call we'll find a time you can come when perhaps not so busy so your child can have a good time and we'll make it right. Sincerely, Jan Grunewaldt General Manager

Thank you for the comments about your stay with us! I have shared your comments with our maintenance team on the chlorine smell, in that window we were having a mechanical issue on a roof top unit that has been addressed as well. "Fun evening"

4
24/01/2016

We stayed here primary for the water feature. Our 5 1/2 year old loved it and spent most of the evening either on the large water slide or on the lily pad/log area. Our room was very spacious and we liked having a sink in the bathroom as well as another sink/vanity area outside of the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and the heating system was consistent. However, there were at least three power outages during the night that reset the digital clock and that might have also been why the Internet connection was having problems. My husband went to eat in the restaurant in the evening (around 7 pm) and had a very long wait to be seated and then also to get his food (a chicken Caesar salad). He said it was very good when it finally arrived; the restaurant just seemed to be overwhelmed with people. We tried it for breakfast the next morning and waited almost ten minutes to be seated (there was only one person in front of us and lots of empty tables), another ten minutes to get our waters and a menu, and then it took about twenty minutes for our two orders of pancakes to arrive. The food was good, but the the service was just really slow. I don't know if they were understaffed or what was going on. Overall we had a really good experience here with the pool and the room and would stay again. It was one of the best sleeping beds we've had in a hotel lately. We would probably just avoid the restaurant next time around.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the post and glad you and your family enjoyed your time in the pool. My apologies on the restaurant service, your experience is not our norm. I will be sharing your comments with our team; it does have an impact when our associates when they see how our performance effects guests. They are nice hard working people that care, and it will matter. I hope we see you again so we can turn this negative part into a positive, I am sure we can! My Best, Jan

Traveling back home from visiting family, we needed a place that was pet friendly too. Came across Best Western Plus Ramkota. It's right off I-29 and just before I-90. Pets stay free and they even gave us some treats and poopy bags. Our daughter was super excited to see the indoor water park too. We stayed on a Saturday night so it was open late. Hubs and I got to enjoy a cup (no glass allowed) of wine while she played away.

29/12/2015

We were traveling with a dog and had to stop because of snow. There is no pet fee here. The waterslide and pools were a bonus since our stop was unplanned. The staff was beyond helpful and friendly. The night manager went out of her way several times to help us and answer our questions. The food at the sports bar was surprisingly delicious if a bit high in price. We could bring outside food and drink into the pool area....they even asked if we wanted plastic go cups at the bar for our beer. We were stick in snow and there were two snow shovels at the back door for communitiy use. I will stay here when passing through Sioux Falls again.

"Western humble simple luxury"

21/12/2015

What an experience! I entered this room expecting a typical modest hotel room to crash after a long trip. Instead I found a suite with so many leather reclining comfortable chairs, I lost count. How to exploit 4 or 5 leather chairs, a large sofa in a living room, a dining room table, two bathrooms and probably three TV sets? The luxurious whirlpool tub in the bathroom was so high, so large, and so deep that it could have used a ladder to climb in and out. Almost large enough to take a few swimming strokes. Front desk folks were delightfully kind and folksy. Breakfast was wholesome. All in all, it was a delight to stay in this "western-sized" hotel. My only reservation was room lighting - so dark and of a yellow-orange hue that it's hard to know that beautiful sunny South Dakota awaits outside.

"Spacious friendly Best Western"

01/12/2015

We booked this hotel via a blind auction site (Hotwire/Priceline etc) and very very satisfied. Check in staff were super friendly, for some reason we were there a long time but it was more banter rather than admin faff of actually checking in to the hotel. This hotel covers a vast area - there are lifts located throughout the property. It's not very tall but corridors were long - at least they were well furnished and welcoming. Seemed to attract a friendly clientèle too! The relatively remote location lead us to use the sports bar/diner within the hotel. We found the food to be of good value and they ere accommodating to take-away requests. There was also a reasonably variety of beers available which kept this beer snob amused for a few rounds. Reading between the lines there are a few Best Western Ramkota hotels, if they are all as good as this I'd heartily recommend them!

We stayed at this hotel on 11-23-15. Had a great experience and the pool fun for the kids was better than expected. Great pool side room and the food was excellent! I will be staying at this hotel in the future and I will be recommending it to everyone.

"Birthday Weekend"

We had a great weekend. But there was some thing that needed repaired. I brought it to the attention of the front desk. I was not complaining but I know people will break things and not report it. I was not expecting a discount or anything but they did discount our room. Everyone was great. They only thing is to see the room service menu is a pain in the but on the TV.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you Lisa for the comments; we are aware of a repair in the pool area, and the solution is ordered. It's quite a process, anything we need comes from Florida and then we need down time to drain the pool, repair, refill, and it's not a good time of year to have the pool down. We try to make it work the best we can. Sorry you found using the TV for room service annoying, we'd happily run a menu down to you next stay, just let us know. We hope to see you again soon. Happy Thanksgiving! Jan and Team

I Always enjoy staying at the BW Ramkota, Sioux Falls. I will be staying there on our return home. The beds are very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was terrific - we stayed for dinner. The price was good. The breakfast in the restaurant could have had a voucher from the hotel. This time we went to another restaurant for breakfast - other times we had breakfast in the Restaurant. I am very impressed with the overall appearance, service, and comfort at this hotel. we have stayed there many times before and will continue to use the BW Ramkota in Sioux Falls.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the nice comments all the way around! We appreciate them very much. If you do get a chance to try our breakfast I believe you will find it fairly priced, nice portion and presentation and very good. AND in the morning the coffee is on us! We're really proud of all our kitchen staff, they knock out some yummy fresh made food day in and day out. We hope to see you again soon. Happy Thanksgiving! Jan and Team

Stayed at Ramkota Sioux Falls 2 nights. First need to say that the front desk staff was very professional and friendly each time I was there. Had a first floor poolside room the first night, excellent room, clean and quiet HVAC could of stood an update but it worked fine just looked old. Room for second night I think should of maybe been on the "in maintenance/don't rent" list but is clean. Must of been repairing mirrors, both have duct tape holding them to the wall.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you David for the nice comments in general; if you would be so kind to drop me a note @ [email protected] on the room number where the mirror was an issue we'll look into that asap. Hope to see you again! My Best, Jan and Team

I have stayed at this facility several times, and every time it has been the same. Always a pleasurable experience, everything from the room to the restaurant!! The location to the interstate is very handy, there is an elevator which even with just 2 levels makes hauling baggage simpler. The pool and play area for the kids is very nice, especially in the winter.

We have made the Ramkota Hotel our go-to hotel when we need to spend a night in Sioux Falls. It is pet friendly and all the rooms are very clean, friendly staff. We have been able to have our nephews family meet us there (they live in Sioux Falls) so their kids can enjoy the water park and we can spend extra time with them. Great place for couples or families!

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the nice comments, please always make us aware if you have special requests or needs for your medical visits. So glad you can incorporate some family time in there too. We look forward to your next visit, Our Best, Jan and Team

Stayed for 2 nights and was tough to get to sleep (first night) with the very thin walls. Heard the people in the wash/dryer room talking from 1-2 am. Kids had fun at the waterpark, and was nice to be able to have pets stay.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for the comments, and so glad your family enjoyed the pool area. My apologies for the noise from the laundry room. I'll share that information so we are more cognizant of that. Hope to see you again. Our Best, Jan and Team

Stayed here for 2 nights with the family. The price was good, the room was clean and functional, and the location was very convenient. My kids (ages 7 and 6) enjoyed the waterpark. I don't think any part of the pool is more than 3.5 feet deep, so it was perfect for my kids. People with older kids might not enjoy it as much. The room had a large fridge and microwave, which was nice. Also, the bathroom towels were soft and fluffy. Most hotel towels are thin and scratchy, so that was definitely a plus. I was surprised at how large this hotel is. It's only 2 floors, but it there are many wings to it, and attached conference rooms, restaurant, etc... We would stay at this hotel again.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for the very detailed review; we are so happy you and your family enjoyed your time with us, and hope to see you again! Our Best, Jan and Team

Very nice clean room with plenty of amenities. Stayed here on our way home from Mount Rushmore. Very large , yet classy hotel. Fairly close to the airport and only a couple miles from endless food choices. Was hoping to use the water park however it was packed as soon as it opened Sunday morning. Price was on the edge of reasonable but was affordable.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you very much for the nice review, I hope we'll see you again and next time get to use the water-features. If you come between June 1 and Oct 1 our lovely outdoor pool is open too, double the fun! Our Best, Jan and Team

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times and for very good reason. I do business in Sioux Falls and they are very close to the arena. Right off Interstate 29 and very easy access to the property. They have a great restaurant, very good food and reasonably priced. The rooms are clean and well furnished, the beds are very comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel.

Clean rooms, pet friendly, good cafe in hotel. Awesome water park and great kids pool with zip line and Lilly pads. Also has a small arcade. Only downfall was our toilet or someone's toilet upstairs would run every 10-20 minutes. Wasn't a big concern. Front desk people were very friendly.

Thank you so much for the nice comments, so glad you enjoyed all we have to offer. We hope to see you again very soon! Our Best, Jan and Team

enjoyed our room, there was some un clean areas such as under the airconditioner/heater and under chairs. when asked to purchase extra wrist bands as the suite sleeps 8 and only got 6 was denied the option. however my mother who purchased a room for 4 to sleep she received 6 wrist bands for the pool. When i called fthe front desk to come get excess garbage from outside our door. was told bell hop would be up, never showed up and garbage still there in the am.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments; my apologies on the few area's that were not cleaned well. I am also sorry the bellman didn't make it to your room to pick up extra trash, that's unusual for us and I will make sure the comment is shared. I am sorry for your annoyance on the wrist bands, we do offer 6 per room no-matter the number of people staying in a room. It's about managing the space more than anything so all our guests can have an enjoyable time. Glad it worked out for you in the end. Respectfully, Jan Grunewaldt General Manager

"Plus Hotel, Buy Breakfast"

30/09/2015

This is a "Best Western Plus " hotel which is SUPPOSE to be the top level of the brand, but does not include a free breakfast as does the other brands. The hotel was nice and clean but we feel somewhat cheated.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments; my apologies on your disappointment of no complimentary breakfast. We are a small segment of Best Westerns of which are full service, but we have worked hard to make fresh, delicious food, affordable. Respectfully, Jan Grunewaldt General Manager

Pretty good hotel with indoor water park activities. Room was clean for the most part, except this is where I knock the hotel down a peg on the ratings: 2nd evening, we noticed a stain on the blanket (above the sheet) and come to find out it was some sort of feces stain and we had the housekeeping change it the next day. Some of the doors that lead to the outside which are suppose to be locked in the evening did not function properly, which could be a safety issue. Other than those flaws, the stay was fairly comfortable and we took advantage of the great indoor pool area/activities.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you for your comments; first and foremost, my sincere apology for the dirty blanket. Most unacceptable and has been addressed with the proper associate. We are also double checking all exits to make sure they are in working order. I hope we see you again so we can turn the questionable experience into a perfect experience. Respectfully, Jan Grunewaldt General Manager

The title says it all! My sister and her husband booked a room for my son and I to visit them, and he had an absolute blast in the waterpark. Huge water slide. I didn't get a chance to eat in the restaurant, but they do have one in the building. Room was clean. A little noisy in the halls as children were running to and from the pool but that's to be expected in a hotel centered around a waterpark. Check-in was pretty awkward, kind of wish I was in the other line- I got an angry old lady who kept complaining about her desk manager, her morning job, etc which seemed unprofessional to do in front of a customer in my opinion, as well as with the other customers at the desk. Rest of the staff was great, always greeted us and asked how we were doing, always smiling. Next time we visit my sister I will definitely book here again. It's an awesome establishment.

Jan G, General Manager at BEST WESTERN PLUS Ramkota Hotel, responded to this review
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, so glad you had FUN!!! Mission accomplished. I do apologize for the unprofessional manner in which you were checked in; that is more than unacceptable and it will be addressed. I do hope we see you again. My Best, Jan and Team
