SureStay Plus by Best Western Poteau

This year--after doing the Talimena Skyline Drive (for the second time ever) and before doing the Cavanal Hill Summit Drive plus paying a visit to Heavener Runestone Park--we needed a place to spend the night in Poteau. We chose the same place we stayed on that first visit all those years ago. The name, the staff, and the management may have changed over time but the level of accommodations provided here has not. The room was fine and the price was right but what set our experience apart from the ordinary was the way Kim (the lady at the desk) got the Hotel manager (Andy) involved in getting the TV remote to work after the rest of us couldn't figure out and solve the problem. Despite being fairly late in the evening he was there in minutes and solved the problem (caused by a previous occupant) in record time. They also provided a step stool to help my wife deal with an extra tall bed. That, to me, is exceptional customer service. For all of those reasons I don't think I could have made a better choice in terms of choosing a place to stay overnight on our Sightseeing Fall Foliage Mini-Vacay this year.

Very basic. Room was dirty, price point was disappointing for the amities. We had a “smoke free” room but the cigarette smell was unbearable. Would not stay here again. Car had parts stolen while parked over night. Check out is at 11; house keeping came by at 9:30 to strip the beds.

Employees were friendly, kind and made sure we knew where everything was. Our room was the cleanest I've ever seen. We were very comfortable and rested for the next day's drive. We will definitely stay here again.

My stay was very good and I was plenty satifed with my stay I wished you had a a better breakfast it was okay but nothing to good the room was very clean and the staff at the front was every nice and clean and well dressed .

The hotel was very convenient for this trip and I keep it in mind whenever in the area. Enjoy the proximity to multiple services and dining. Staff were courteous and professional I would choose this hotel again when next in Poteau.

The room itself was clean and ready when we arrived. The shower head was below my head (6'2"). Breakfast was scant & barely qualified as "hot". Beds were hard as the tile floors. It's a 1-ply TP motel

We stayed at this location for 4 nights. There is not a lot of options in Poteau and we have stayed at one other establishment there and wanted to try something new. Check-in was a breeze. Got to our room, door was difficult to open and close, showing signs of age. The room itself was clean and basic. The furniture was very torn up, like should have been replaced yesterday. The beds are interesting and sit on a weird metal base I have never seen. The mattresses were horrible. Back pain every night. The floors are vinyl, which I understand is easier to care for, especially when pets are allowed, but they get dirty very quickly. There is not a floor mat or anything to wipe your feet on so when we walked around the room in our socks or barefoot, our feet got filthy (so gross when you want to go to bed). What really did us in was the noise from the street. Clearly, you can't pick up and move the hotel, but it was as if there was absolutely no sound proofing. It got very loud at times considering there is an interstate right there. Had to ask for our room to be cleaned one day, I guess they forgot but quickly came over and took care of it. We will be passing on this property in the future.

I would find somewhere else to stay. When we pulled down the sheets, there were multiple hairs in the bed. They switched our room, and there was hair in that bed too. We asked for clean sheets to make our own bed and one of two sheets had hair in it. Also, there was a plastic shower cap over the smoke detector. Worst room experience I've had in all my years of travel. Front desk person reported to management and they did not offer me anything and no one came out to apologize. The duvet cover was also super wrinkled. Very disappointing.

The room was fine for one night. Check in was smooth and friendly. The room appeared clean but the bottom of my white socks became quickly dirty. The vinyl plank on the floors was pretty but may not have been mopped in a while. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast selection was good and tasty.

4 out of 5 stars.Ice machine could be closer and more convenient for the handicapped. Room starting to show some wear and tear. Needed minor repair above shower in bathroom.Paint lifting showing patch repair. Room was clean.

Other than dead bugs on the floor, the room was clean and housekeeping was really nice. They will charge you a $30 pet fee, regardless of if it's a service animal. They do not offer late checkout. They won't answer the phone in the morning, but if you haven't checked out on time, they'll charge you a $25 late checkout fee. My room total was $160 for one night. Horribly overpriced and when they called about checkout, they spoke to my daughter threatening her with additional charges. You don't speak with the kids. And I had called 3 times already without an answer. And if you book in the app and need to extend, you have to physically go in there, checkout and then rebook in the app. Ridiculous, time consuming process. I won't go back and probably won't recommend it unless all other hotels are full. My $160 would have gone a lot further at Holiday Inn across the street.

I'm at the hotel now and the manager got real snippy with me just now when I needed to use his front desk phone just now and he became areal jerk and even didn't want me to use it even though my room phone wasn't working, my cell phone wasn't working and then his lobby phone wasn't working. It's over priced and the pool is too tiny to swim in.m

Wouldn't recommend at all. Got woke up in the morning by housekeeping. Phone rings in the middle of the night and the alarm clock went off the second night as well. But apparently being woke up in the morning is normal if you don't have the tag in the door.

Room was clean pool was great employees and owner all great no complaints would stay there over and over breakfast was served at great hours parking was good wifi and TV had great amount of channels plenty of hot water and things needed where right at the front desk I recommend SURESTAY POTEAU OKLAHOMA

It was clean, affordable, staff was professional and I will stay there again if and when in the area! Wasnt much to critique or complain about. Pool was open and breakfast was satisfactory and edible; better than some other places ive stayed at during my travels and not as great as some other places, but fine overall.

I give them 5 stars more if there. Friendly staff rooms are clean comfortable stay . Stay was exceptional pool was clean. Rooms were clean everything worked as should Everyone made you feel right at home

lobby clerk likes his privacy and will rudely kick you out for using computer or watching tv. me and co worker was using computer to complete last minuite reports before leaving next morning when we were told we didnt rent a lobby and need to go back to room.this was at 7pm. seen multiple complaints on this but nothing ever happened.

The reception girl was very nice. The room was a good size. The landscaping needed some attention. I could tell this is an old hotel and they have really tried to bring it up to par but it's not quite there. I could tell that the person who planned the landscaping knew what they were doing but it has been allowed to deteriorate, sadly.

Super clean hotel; oversized rooms, slept great! Friendly and helpful staff. Needed extra pillow, towels; no problem. Hot breakfast, which am pleased to see again. Would definitely stay again if in area.

Decent hotel, the location was pretty remote only a couple motel/hotels in the area. Hotel was clean and staff was friendly and caring. Breakfast could of had a few more choices, apples were the only fruit option and no eggs on the hot bar.Would stay again if I was in the area.

Our room was nice and big and had recently been redone, our bathroom met our expectations there was enough hot water for 2 people to get a nice shower and enough pressure to get shampoo out of your hair and soap off of your body. The room more than met our expectation and we would stay again.

Housekeeping was very bad. We opened door and first thing I noticed was mirror was all smeared and splattered! Then…the floor! It was all dirty with crumbs and dirt! Hadn't been cleaned at all! Hubby went to desk and Tim at desk was very kind and professional and switched us rooms. Not his fault at all. Management needs to oversee housekeeping a lot better! Second room was better. Still needs could use better housekeeping. Coffee maker was all sticky and dirty on top. I picked it up and the tray underneath was filthy and had a long hair stuck to it. Very gross. Hubby told Tim at front desk and he kindly gave him a brand new one! Again, he was awesome! Tim actually went to the other room and cleaned it because they were booked full that night! He said he opened the door and said he wouldn't have stayed in there either! He went above and beyond his duty!

This hotel is the cleanest hotel I have stayed in all year! I have stayed at this location for many years and I have never had a bad experience! With COVID, I travel with Lysol wipes and wipe everything down once I enter the room. TV remotes are usually the worst, but not here. I wiped countertops, TV remote, desk, chair sink fixtures—- nothing showed any dirt or grime! The general manager here runs a “tight ship”. I highly recommend this location!

We spent last night at this hotel (I think it is more of a motel since the rooms open to the outside, but what do I know). The room was very clean and fresh smelling. The shower had great hot water and water pressure. The WiFi was good. The bed was a little firmer than I like, but it was still fine. The hotel was in walking distance of a nice little Mexican restaurant. The only downside to the hotel was the road noise, but it settled down by the time we went to bed.

Clean newly remodeled, rooms have a clean new modern home feeling. Direct tv with lots of channels, large TV, microwave, refrigerator. Better stay than the Holiday Inn. If you're in the area stay here.

Thge price was great. The location is not bad which makes it a great affordable place to stay. Rooms are spacious & quiet. Its close to restaurants, gas stations, and shopping. We experienced no problems at all.

Last minute change of plans meant making reservations for the night at 1am. The agent was so helpful and the process so easy I was booked and I bed with 30 minutes. I absolutely fe I love with the Surestay Poteau

We travel a lot with our daughter's travel teams & have stayed around 40 nights in the last year at hotels. We didn't make it to this hotel due to an accident and were sad that the hotel was not cooperative with us about cancelling or discounting even one the rooms we had reserved (we had two reserved). It was past the cancellation window, I do understand, but we have never had problems like this before or had a hotel so unwilling to help. Lesson learned, I will spend the extra money and do business with a nicer hotel.

The Hotel is in a good central location in the town. After getting to our room, I found there was not any Carpet on the floor. I usually bring a pair of Flip Flops to wear when I'm staying in a Hotel. I walked around the room in my socks, for about half an hour. I took them off & they were full of hair plus other stuff. The cover on the phone needed to be cleaned as well.

My boyfriend and I were passing through and stayed one night. The front desk host was very nice. Our room (216) was very clean and up to date. We stayed on a Friday night and it was very quiet - no rowdy neighbors, so we slept well. Bed/sheets were clean. Only negative thing we experienced was the breakfast option. Or lack of. The brown bags were prepackaged and not very appeasing. We tried a bit of the burrito and threw it out immediately along with the bit we tried to chew up. Disgusting!!! I dont know why they still have not opened the breakfast up. Trying to ride it out as long as possible to save a penny. None of the staff was wearing a mask (neither were we) so it makes no sense.

All of the staff are great, they make you feel very welcome. They are very accommodating. They make sure I get the room I request. The manager of the hotel does everything. He is very hands on it seems, from front desk to housekeeping. Thank you all for making my stays quiet and comfortable.

I booked the SureStay Plus Hotel due to online reviews, and I was not disappointed! The rooms are large and clean, the beds are comfortable, and the service was top-notch. There were brochures for all of the local activities, and bag breakfasts were provided with a nice variety of foods. They are pet friendly, and have easily-accessible areas around the hotel to walk your pet. One of my best hotel experiences ever!

Hotel was clean and no disturbances. Staff was very nice and helpful. Cleanliness inside and out. Bedding and towels were also clean. Air conditioning worked, lighting, appliances worked good. Enjoyed being able to sleep in with check out time at 11am. Sleeping in is what I liked best.

This hotel is a great value. Very clean, well cared for, good service, front desk clerks very nice and efficient, beds clean and comfortable, nice towels, good hot water, absolutely no complaints. Breakfast was nothing special, but adequate under the Covid restrictions.

We only needed one night but, Great place to stay. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Close to several restaurants. It was quiet. They can't do the full breakfast of course but they do have coffee, juice and prepackaged items.

If you just need a bed for the night, this hotel is probably fine. Staff was nice, rooms were clean, and the nearby liquor store and restaurant are good. We wouldn't stay here again because the rooms were extremely humid and everything felt kind of damp, the pillows and mattress left us with sore backs and necks, and the to-go breakfast (due to COVID-19) left us hungry. But we wouldn't have cut our stay short by any means, it just motivated us to spend time out and about. And if we needed a hotel in Poteau we would probably try another one before staying here again.

The owner, manager and other help at the hotel are courteous and very helpful.The rooms are clean and quiet. We walked to a nearby restaurant to eat and Walmart is not far away in case one might need anything .

We were very impressed with the hotel. Clean rooms, friendly staff. However, we had been traveling all day, and visited with family until late. The morning of our check out, while enjoying sleeping in, we were awakened at 8:30 am by housekeeping. And then, while we are loading up to checkout, our key cards were apparently cancelled...at 10:30 am. Check out wasn't until 11:00. That turned things sour.

As I enjoy hiking the Ouachita mountains during spring time, I enjoy staying at this Hotel. Friendly reception by Lady Rachel upon arrival. She assigned a quiet and spacious king bed room in the back of the hotel with desk and chair, comfy chair and ottoman and a small table, dresser, fridge with freezer shelve (stuffed with ice, needs a melting) and micro wave oven as well as an iron an iron board and coffee maker. Room and bath were clean and updated with contemporary design. The A/C unit looked new and worked nice and quietly. Best Western in Oklahoma has reduced its fantastic breakfast buffet to a "Grab n Go" bag (a virus thing), that only contains a bottle of water, an apple, granola bar and packaged chocolate donuts. Coffee is available.

The service from the staff was great; the room was very nice; Hotel was in a good location.It was nice to have handicap room; as far as the amenities couldn`t use the pool due to the time of year! We really liked the hotel; have one suggestion for Best Western is to put sharps containers in the bathroom' reason for it is that I am a Dibetic ;I had a baggie that I put my stuff in and brought home and disposed of it the right way

The rooms were extremely clean, great breakfast in the morning and the staffing was very welcoming! We checked in at noon and our room was made in time. They accommodated my disability needs by providing a room on the ground floor.

We were given a room on the ground floor and able to park right next to our door which was great since we are on a long distance trip we needed to do some reorganization. Breakfast was very good. We were able to walk to a Chinese restaurant, Dollar Tree and liquor store.

This is a no frills stopover for people who want a nice clean room for the night. No frills, just the basics. I got free wi-fi, a decent TV, and nice clean room. There's also a free breakfast, but I left before the dining area opened. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again if I travel through that way. The layout is the older style with entry doors for each room on the outside of the building. Haven't seen that in years. It could be a bit noisy when people start cars to leave in the morning. I was one of the early risers.

I had a great time at the best western. Particularly breakfast. It was nice to be able to walk out of my room in my pajamas, grab some coffee and any breakfast I wanted (hot food, cereal, bagels...my plate was full). Sharon Marshall ensured we had everything we forgot, and everything we needed. I had a great stay, and would definitely come back.

Great facility and wonderful and caring staff attentive to our needs and understanding in our time of sorrow and need Andy and his staff are great inn keepers and take the time to understand your needs

The Poteau SureStay Plus is conveniently located near the highway for easy access. Friendly staff is a plus. Rooms are relatively large, Internet access was reliable. Street noise was a little loud but that dies down by late evening. It might be preferable to be on the back side if that is a concern.

You won't be disappointed. The rooms are great. The people are great ! I travel with some motorcycle friends. The owner will stop and talk to us to make sure we have everything we need while we are staying here. The place is well maintained. I will stay here anytime I am near the area.

The hotel is always exceptionally clean. Staff is always very friendly. They have a fantastic breakfast. Conveniently located right in town yet no problem with road noise. We always stay here when in town.

Cons: Made reservations online for a room with a king bed. Got there, only one car in the entire parking lot and they said they were overbooked and we had to take a different room due to construction workers booking rooms. I call "head fake"! Room smelled like mold and mildew. Disconcerting that a sheet of paper discussing carbon monoxide poisoning and its symptoms is found on the table in the room. The fridge BARELY worked...we ended up having to ice down all of our perishables versus risking them going bad in the slightly cool fridge. Toilet whistled for 30 seconds after every flush and carpet was dirty. Pro: their "full breakfast" was only slightly better than a typical cereal/bakery spread...but, it is cooked "off site" and ironically even tho the place was supposed to be booked with construction workers, we had plenty to choose from during the later part of the morning. I would NEVER stay here, again.

Was there to see mom, elderly, lives by herself in McCurtain, Ok. Sick needed a central location from her home and Ft Smith airport not too big of city quiet easy on easy off freeways rooms were good size came with mini fridge microwave iron and ironing board laundry room for tenants

My husband and I always stay at this hotel - whether it be for business travel or hunting. The staff is very friendly and anytime we have ever had any issues, they were always willing to help.. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!!

the breakfast was lacking any eggs and the biscuits were hard the room was great the bed a little hard for me the room was very clean and shower was excellent great spray from shower head the coffee great

The front desk staff was very friendly and courteous. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Even the landscape was very well kept. Our stay was extremely enjoyable and very pleasant!

Friendly reception upon arrival by Lady Sam. Whoever assigned my room had totally ignored my reservation request and Sam worked hard to get that fixed - and she did. The Hotel has a nice and impressive lobby, though the rest of the building is more motel-like. A clean room with two queen beds, table, two chairs, dresser, small fridge with freezer shelf, microwave. Nice looking pool outdoors with lounge chairs and pagoda.Good breakfast including sausage, eggs, biscuits, gravy, waffles, yogurt with several toppings, toasts, bagels, English muffins, juice. The coffee was a bit on the weak side. a friendly attendant took care of the breakfast buffet and sitting room. Nearby is a Walmart.

We had tornadoes and flooding at home and came to this hotel to be safe. All we wanted was a clean bed. They far surpassed expectations. Room was very clean and comfortable, breakfast was great, coffee available all night, a staff was courteous and efficient. Would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend

Nice rooms. Good beds. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast. Amazing shower heads. Slow on fixing broken things. Took half hour and 10 phone calls to get tv to work. Water was shut off right as we went to take shower with no warning. They did give us keys to another room to take shower.

We stayed at the SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Poteau, OK, location while doing some geneology research in the southeastern Oklahoma area. The room was very reasonably priced and quite comfortable. Wifi was free and no-hassle to set up quickly. Breakfast was good, but the coffee could have been stronger. The hotel is located near restaurants and a Walmart (always a plus for picking up those forgotten items, and in our case some tools and supplies to clean, repair, and decorate some old family headstones). Parking was plentiful and free. We definitely would stay there again.

The picture you see of this Motel online is what you see when you arrive. The grounds are very well kept, did not see any trash along curb in parking lot, very easy access to rooms and last but not least, very courteous and professional staff.

would definitely recommend one of the nicest hotels around for the price!! awesome breakfast to top it off. will definitely be coming back and staying here again next time. very helpful staff and very polite !!

Rooms were really clean, housekeeping kept them that way during our week long stay. Breakfast was good for a free breakfast. Staff were lovely. Wifi kept the kids happy. Location was perfect for what we needed.

A wonderful hotel in the area. Friendly service and peaceful atmosphere. The king suite has a wonderful jacuzzi tube and the parking is easy, safe and accessible. The back forested area has nice floral plants and rabbits. I nice place to rest on very comfortable beds to feel rested and hangout around town.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms, breakfast area, lobby, and parking lot was very clean. The price was very reasonable. I will definitely stay there again on my next trip back to Poteau!!!

Stopped here for a night and enjoyed a nice, clean, and well kept place. Everything looked almost new. Loads of channels on the flat screen provided by DirecTV, and there is also free wifi. We didn't try the complimentary breakfast so I can't comment on that. If you don't mind a room with an outside door, this is a great place to stay.

Stayed here 3 nights. The hotel is very clean and well kept. Our room was very nice. Beds were wonderful. Staff here is very friendly and helpful. Our air conditioner was making a small noise but did not bother us so we did not report it. The next morning a maintenance man showed up with a new unit and replaced it. Housekeeping had let him know about the noise. I highly recommend this hotel.

We were needing a place to stay for one night while some work was being done at our house. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are very clean. The AC was on and room was cool when we got there. Will diffidently stay there again and recommend them.

The staff was wonderful. The rooms are great and beds are very comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful and plentiful. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area. Close to restaurants and Wal Mart.

Great bed! Nice size room with clean bathroom and good parking area. The young lady at the front desk was very personable and helpful. She helped us find a good place to go for diner that was in the old downtown area.

We were in town for my daughter's wedding and were scheduled for one night. We ended up staying for 3, in part due to the facility's quality as well as the staff's friendliness and willingness to accommodate us. The full breakfast was ample and of good quality. We had family staying in a less expensive hotel not far from us but the extra money we spent was well worth it. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Beautiful cozy lobby. Friendly and accommodating staff at the front desk. Our smoking room wasn't as smoke-scented as most rooms. Very neat and clean. Flat screen TV with DirecTV, frequently outed with rainstorms. Low pressure on the sink faucet. Water smelled "earthy" but strangely pleasant to me. Breakfast was good and standard fare but Laura, the attendant was amazing and courteous. Sweet and witty. We will definitely stay here should business or pleasure, bring us back this way.

We stayed here for some work we were doing in Poteau. It's an old hotel that has been well renovated. It's clean, friendly, and had no issues at all. We stayed a couple nights in 3 rooms. If you like DirectTV then you'll like this place.

I booked his week's ago, the lady was very polite and informative. This place holds its own against the major chains we normally stay at. It is clean, the staff is friendly, free breakfast is outstanding and location is perfect. I recommend this place to everyone.

My girlfriend and I stopped here on our way home to stay for the night and one night is all it took. I guess it's been bought out by new owners and the place is terrible compared to how it was before. The person working the desk spoke broken English and was hard to understand. On top of that he was very rude. The breakfast was terrible. It was not hot and wasn't ready until closer to 6:30. They claim it starts at 6. We had to leave out by 6:45. The whole place has gone down hill since we stayed here 2 years ago. I highly recommend staying at one of the other hotels in this small town and save yourself the headache.

I am currently sitting outside, with the door to my room open. I can smell the overpowering cleansers, even out here. When we notified front desk, they took us to another room, which smelled just the same. I have a terrible headache.

Clean rooms. Nothing special. Cable was terrible and no workout room. Nothing to do in town. I might stay here again if I had to but wouldn't go out of my way to do so. Girl at the front desk was cordial and helpful. Breakfast eggs and sausage was terrible.

We found ourselves on a totally random Spring Break road trip - and this is where we chose to stay for the night. I'm not normally a fan of hotels where the doors face the street (and not a hallway), but this hotel was exactly what we needed, when we needed one the most - and the free breakfast was pretty darned good too!

Nicest front desks clerks ever. Great location. Good value hotel. Free wi-FI. Comfortable beds and high quality linens. Rooms are clean and fairly large. High quality shower head. Close to everything in town.

Best beds of our 4 day trip thru Oklahoma, room was big and clean ,newer model TVs,Bathroom clean and roomy .Breakfast was better than the other Name hotels we stayed at, the young woman in the area kept food stocked and hot. There was eggs ,sausage,gravy, waffles,and all the other things you expect and a little more.

Four of us went to Poteau on a fall foliage trip recently and spent the night at the Best Western Traders Inn. The room was comfortable and clean and the staff was wonderful. They were friendly and fun. The lobby area is beautiful and the breakfast the next morning was excellent.
