"Fantastic stay - highly recommend"
Dawn1111111111111111, 29 Septembre 2021

We were very lucky to be given a room with a sea view and balcony on the first floor when we stayed as part of a coach trip. Comfy bed and room was very clean with all the facilities you could ask for, including iron and ironing board if needed. We were also very lucky that the restaurant was open in the evening for us during our stay - food was fantastic and choices to cater for all tastes. Staff very polite and friendly, especially Raphael. Lovely setting with beach close by and scenic walks. Definitely recommend

"5 day visit"
iz j, 05 Septembre 2021

Excellent friendly staff, all work really well together. Couldn't do enough for us. The lady on Reception, thanks for your directions, especially on the last day when we needed petrol, Rachel and Mum thanks for being so friendly and chatty. In fact thanks o all the staff. Excellent breakfast good choice, shame the restaurant couldn't open for evening meals. Definately recommend!! We had a really great stay..

"Awful smell in room"
180EmmaH, 05 Septembre 2021

This is a hard review to write because the hotel, whilst dated and quirky was a lovely place to stay. The staff were polite and catered for everything we required however, we had the worst smell in our room which we reported on the first night and were told due to them being fully booked, there were no other rooms available. On the second day we spoke to them about it and were offered the option to change rooms for the remaining night or get a complimentary breakfast. We were going out for the day and didn't intend to return until late so took the breakfast option. The smell did ruin our stay, it was obviously coming from the toilet area and after being told it was a known problem, we felt that it should have been disclosed to us either at booking or shortly after. The room rate should also have been reflective of the rooms problem but we paid full price, because of the issues we had, we would not chose to return to this hotel.

"Excellent hotel & staff "

We had a fabulous time at this establishment we really enjoyed our stay and the staff were very friendly & polite and very professional..the breakfast was amazing we cant wait to return we had a wonderful time.thankyou very much to everyone who works here..excellent hotel

"Welcome break"
Rachael B, 28 Août 2021

We were looking forward to some sea and sun and a little break. We found all of this when visiting the hotel. There was an outdoor heated pool which avoided the wind as it was at a lower level. Next time we might try the apartments as they looked good too.

"Perfection."
CathyB511, 27 Août 2021

We have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel and all we can say is ‘wow'. The hotel is set on top of a cliff and our room had a view over Porth beach. The room was outstandingly clean and the bathroom had a large shower. There was even an iron and ironing board……should you want to iron whilst on holiday! Great choices for breakfast. Full Cornish breakfast, continental breakfast, a ‘special every day or just basic toast, cereal etc. The waiting staff were very attentive and friendly. The pool was lovely and warm and also houses a spa type bubble function. A couple of staff really stood out with their friendliness and they were Rachel (in the bar) and AnnMarie (receptionist). They couldn't do enough to help and answered any questions we had. Every member of staff was efficient in their job and always friendly. One of the cleaners, not sure of his name, cleaned in places that you wouldn't expect to be cleaned e.g. the window ledges above the stairs but he was always incredibly polite, stopping what he was doing to say good morning, open a door for you or offer to help with bags/cases. Be prepared for very hilly walks. The walk into Newquay takes about 30 minutes but it has stunning views along the way. The only downside is that the internet connection is practically non-existent but if you don't want to be contacted then that could be a bonus!!! The hotel also owns self-catering villas that are on the same site as the hotel. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the restaurant wasn't open at night and it was quite difficult to just ‘walk-in' to a restaurant and expect to get a table as they were only taking bookings. The hotel was very accommodating should you want to order food in. They will provide you with cutlery, plates and any condiments you may want. We will definitely be returning but next time be prepared for the long drive……it took us 5 1/2 hours to get there and nearly 7 hours to get home. We drove from West Sussex and we returned on a bank holiday weekend.

"Lovely hotel great location"
109mandyh, 23 Août 2021

Lovely hotel room was on the very small size but adequate. Clean and tidy front of house staff very stand offish and not very welcoming breakfast was superb and restaurant staff lovely bed looked like it had been slept it but it was clean and fresh so they just hasnt taken care to make it look tidy was a bit scruffy looking overall a great place just needs some attention to detail.

"Great Venue"
TerryRM50, 22 Août 2021

Apart from the restaurant being closed during the evenings and the pool tiles being dangerous a great visit. The staff were superb and location perfect. Price was a tad high for the limited facilities due to the Covid situation too.

"Spotless, efficient, friendly and great breakfast!"
nicb112, 18 Août 2021

We stayed for 11 nights with our grown up kids and cannot fault the hotel. The breakfast was brilliant (and I am fussy over breakfast) the waiter remembered not to put the beans next to the egg from day 1, and plates were always hot! It's a shame that the restaurant wasn't open in the evening as I imagine it would be pretty good! We did have a couple of take aways delivered to the hotel and the bar staff always provided cutlery and plates which was very nice (but we could only eat outside so that may have been an issue if it rained - we didn't want to eat in rooms as we had 3 separate rooms). Our room was on the top floor and was huge with plenty of wardrobe space and a stunning view of the beach, yes it was warm but I'd read the reviews and we took a fan. The bed is probably the best, most comfy bed I've ever had in a hotel room, wish I had room for one that size at home! Towels were fluffy and changed whenever we requested it. Only thing was there was a lot of stairs to the room so I'd probs just request 1st floor next time. Parking was never a problem but may be if hotel was full (we just blocked each other in). My husband cycled down from Essex and the hotel kindly kept his bike secure inside for our entire trip! Walk to beach was fine and there's a lovely tea room down there too (Gwenna I think it was called). We visited a few local restaurants; the tapas along the road was delicious and we really liked the food at Senor Dicks in Newquay too (our top 2). We also visited 12 Beach Road, Indian Kitchen and Little Italy, all worth a trip and would rank in that order! We did visit the Mermaid on the beach but only for drinks, felt a bit like being in a ‘spoons! You must make restaurant bookings in advance, the hospitality industry is struggling with recruitment! Swimming pool lovely and warm and we chose to sit on the grass at the back of the hotel, rather than around the pool, as you have the seaview. Great central location to access lots of Cornwall! Will deffo be visiting again, staff couldn't be more helpful and made us feel very much “at home”! Worth way more than its current star rating!

"Many good things but needs some direction"
304damienh, 16 Août 2021

There are many good things about Porth Veor, not least the staff who were all so friendly and helpful and deserve much praise. The location is superb, the newest garden view villas look wonderful, but the hotel rooms are tired and could do with some updates and some better ventilation. The breakfast is also really good with many options. Overall it feels like the place is at a cross roads and lacking any direction as to what it wants to be. The restaurant has been closed for some time and hope that this is just temporary. Really wish the staff well and hope they get some help to make this place better again as we'd really love to come back in the future.

"Great hotel and fantastic location"
Bhavini V, 15 Août 2021

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. We had a double sea view room on the second floor. The room did get warm at night and sadly the hotel did not have AC or any fans. The room was nicely decorated. You could just see part of Porth Beach from the room. The bed and pillows were super comfy, great after a long day sight seeing. One downside to the room was that two single beds were placed together which meant there were two small headboards for each bed, not the comfiest if you were sat up watching tv before bed. Breakfast was lovely each morning and staff were friendly. We were disappointed that the hotel restaurant had chosen to remain closed due to Covid. As other reviews mention you have to book restaurants in Newquay well in advance and similar with taxis. The swimming pool was very slightly heated but nevertheless we found it relaxing. We had a drink at the bar one evening and service was good. There are lots of beaches around, we enjoyed watching the sunset at Porth Beach which is only a short walk from the hotel. The walk into Newquay is about 15-20 minutes and slightly longer to get to Fistral Beach. We would definitely return to the hotel again and highly recommend staying here.

"Cancelled booking "
Anthony S, 13 Août 2021

Cancelled our paid for booking a few days before our stay with no explanation just an email which could have so easily been missed. On boardmasters weekend as well leaving us with no available accommodation to find. The worst customer service I have ever received.

"Fabulous breakfast with a view"
RoadLite2, 27 Juillet 2021

A lovely hotel overlooking Porth beach, serving fabulous breakfast and benefiting from a heated outdoor pool. We stayed a few nights in a family room on the top floor (no lift) which meant it did retain some heat on the warmer days. The room decor was exactly as per the website with a super-king bed, bunks and a newly fitted shower room including a really nice powerful shower. Parking was always available free on-site. Friendly efficient check-in, newly decorated reception/lobby area. The dining room, with 2 sides a conservatory is the show piece brightly decorated in contemporary white and serving one of the best breakfasts we've ever had. Local top quality sausage, bacon and eggs, plus all the usual extras to make a great full English - options also included smoked salmon, kippers etc as daily specials. Toast, croissants and (on weekends) pastries were also served, and everything without delay, freshly cooked and piping hot. Fantastic all round. Although most communal areas, main central stairway and deluxe bedrooms (we glimpsed) had a fresh contemporary feel, the stairs and corridors elsewhere felt a little gloomy and unloved. Difficult in a building of age with little natural light to the stairwells but fresh bright white paint on the walls and better modern lighting would make a world of difference to those first impressions - but we're in a pandemic & times are tight so really these are minor things. The outdoor swimming pool was great, so warm, heated to 30 degrees nice even during a rain shower, bigger than expected and a hit obviously with the kids. It'd be so satisfying to go all around the top 2” of tiles with a scrubber and spray, the rest of the hotel was so sparkling clean that this layer of sun cream grease felt out of place and easily fixable. All in all a great hotel in a location perfect to explore the coast around Newquay, breakfast in the lovely dining room overlooking the bay was a treat each morning, the big bed comfy and bath towels soft and thick. Just a few tweaks away from being untouchable in terms of quality and value for money. We'd definitely go back again.

"Faultless stay, polite staff, good location"
989GaryW, 23 Juillet 2021

We stayed here for a few days at the start of July and were warmly welcomed by reception with a clear explanation of the Covid rules, directions to our room, restaurant arrangements, etc. Good sized room although very warm which I did hear another guest mention. Location is great, within walking distance of several beaches and a short scenic stroll into Newquay. Good choice for breakfast too. Top tips in the current climate. Book restaurants in advance and if you need a taxi book those early too as they are golddust. Overall a great base for a few days in North Cornwall and would definitely stay again.

"Good hotel in a beautiful location"
Kitch76, 13 Juillet 2021

Good location. Spacious room. Quality breakfast. Could do with updating doors which were loud when being closed. Friendly helpful staff. Lacks some of the finishing touches of other places. 200 yards from the beach which was ideal with incredible scenery around the whole area

"Excellent Hotel"
flyingpigsoffortune, 08 Juillet 2021

Difficult to find any negatives, very good value, clean rooms, fab breakfast, my 2nd visit. Would be nice to have in-house beauty treatments as had to visit another hotel for that but a minor point. About 30min walk to Newquay centre and about £9 for taxi. Ideal location for Lusty Glaze, only 5mins away.

"Bad first impression but got better!"
Jasminecat08, 07 Juillet 2021

Overall experience was great, first impression was bad unfortunately. Our wait staff for breakfast were fantastic, cleaners lovely, reception staff friendly, sadly the barmaid who checked us in, Rachel, was very rude. She saw us coming through the doors with cases, was expecting us, according to reception who had called me, yet walked past us and let us go into the bar to stand and wait for her to return, without acknowledging us. When she did return she asked us are you here to check in? No, we brought our cases with us for a drink at the bar… just for clarity we didn't say that, just thought it, we were polite and said yes we are. She then put the key down on the bar, said you're room 16, first floor. No directions, no information, no smile… We had to ask which way would take us to our room. Everyone else we encountered in the hotel and in Newquay were so lovely. Rachel should not be working in hospitality, she gave us such a bad impression, which at least thankfully was redeemed by everyone else we encountered. All of other the hotel staff are great, and really shouldn't be let down by one of their colleagues like this.

"Lovely hotel and staff, but...."
grantjameshill, 27 Juin 2021

I stayed at Porth Veor Manor with my wife and step-son in June 2021. We had a fantastic holiday, and the staff at the hotel were very friendly, and indeed the hotel itself was lovely, however... We were only informed after arriving that our room wouldn't be cleaned during our visit, due to Covid restrictions. When we needed new toilet roll, we had to ring down to reception to get some more. Our bathroom became very dirty very quickly after we had been to the beach, and because there were no maids to clean the room, we had to put up with a dirty bathroom for the remainder of the week. Also, the restaurant wasn't open for lunch or evening meals. Again, the website didn't specify this when we went to book the room. As a result, we had to try and find other local restaurants and hope that they had space available. My wife is disabled, so having to find other restaurants in the area was especially problematic for her, especially on her bad days. On the whole, we enjoyed our stay, but feel our experience was ruined slightly by the things I've mentioned above. I'm sure that once covid restrictions ease, things will be improved somewhat.

"No restaurant for dinner"
O6985ENmichaelb, 25 Juin 2021

We found out by chance a few days before our stay that the restaurant was closed for dinner. This meant that we could not find an alternative hotel or book any reservations in local restaurants. We ended up having to scramble around each day trying to find somewhere reasonable to eat. We ended up having to travel several miles on four nights, using McDonald's on 2 nights and Tesco express sandwiches on one night. I recognise that the pandemic has caused many problems but we paid £167 per night for an average B&B. Best Western and the hotel should have been totally transparent on the product they were offering. They were the exact opposite of this. I went to Cornwall to relive childhood memories. The experience was spoiled because of the dishonesty of the supplier.

"Amazing hotel"
Explorer9706, 22 Juin 2021

Room 15 was amazing had everything and more that I required this is a single room but very comfortable .fantastic cooked breakfast which very fresh with no grease at all .this hotel is a hidden gem with a path into town and onto the beach .I loved porth and prefer to Newquay .sadly the hotel did not offer evening meal but I knew that when booked that was a shame but I understand .Newquay lacks good reasonable restaurants unfortunately so getting a decent meal was a chore .to sum it up I loved my stay and can't fault the hotel or location thankyou so much

"Amazing"
4seanp, 21 Juin 2021

What a great place, room was absolutely delightful, staff amazing from reception Ellie and Anne Marie, breakfast was served to the top standard thanks to Mark and Greg. Called into the bar, all I can say is thank you to the amazing bar person Rachel could not be more helpful, nothing was too much trouble, so helpful. All I can say is a personal thank you to her. I would like to thank all the staff cleaners as well whom I don't know their names, so pleasant. This place is an absolute dream to stay at. I could recommend this place to stay.

"Holiday GetAway"
charlottesP9982OM, 22 Mai 2021

We came over for a couple days joy to unwind after a long and tedious lockdown! We were meant to stay in the hotel but due to closures they upgraded us to a self-catering, sea-view villa which was even better! The space was incredible and the surrounding lovely! Couldn't fault a thing with our stay! We had all the amenities to get us through our stay. A kitchen with a large breakfast bar to a patio and balcony terrace. The villa was spotless and very quiet away from the main strip of people. The only issue was that the under floor heating didn't seem to work, even when on high and the boiler was very loud that you could hear it 24/7 but other then that we enjoyed our stay! Would highly recommend and we will be returning again soon!

"One of the best UK apartments I've stayed in!!"
didhxidosiwbziz, 03 Septembre 2020

Very clean and stylish hotel. Has a swimming pool which is really nice if your staying in the apartments opposite. Very clean rooms and spacious In a good location too!! Definitely recommend, it is also in walking distance to Newquay town centre

"Underrated hotel"
emmap497, 15 Août 2020

We stayed in the 3 bed villa while the hotel itself was still closed due to Covid. It has high quality furnishings and is generously sized, though dated in terms of decor. The hotel has a much nicer look and feel than you'd expect for its star rating and the outdoor heated pool is a nice bonus. Everything was very clean and the grounds well kept. The location is lovely, very near the beach and out of town. The reason I wouldn't stay again though is that the accommodation's room arrangement makes no sense (the largest and most well appointed room with balcony has only twin beds and no shower while the larger of the doubles with a terrace is downstairs but has no en-suite and instead is close to the downstairs cloakroom with shower). We ended up feeling annoyed that the two teenagers were enjoying lots of space upstairs while we ended up with no en suite. Perhaps we should have taken the smaller double with no balcony but I really wish they'd put a double in the master bedroom and bunks in the smaller double. I can see that they wanted a twin and the other rooms aren't large enough but still. Also why no shower and just a bath in the master bedroom en suite? The other reason I wouldn't stay again is that you do feel you're in a gold fish bowl. At its closest the villa is less than 2m from the pool fencing and there is a huge patio door and two other windows so everyone round the pool is looking straight at you. The pool is small and the arrangement attracts young families for obvious reasons so the pool is full of noisy small children all day and because there is no poolside areas other than the villas' patios, everyone leaves their stuff on your patio table. The pool is for the sea view and car park facing villas too. If the hotel was open with lots more people trying to use the pool, it would be worse I would imagine. We did manage to use it once but the arrival of a large party in several villas with lots of kids monopolising the pool meant we stayed out for most of the holiday. The villa is also poorly equipped with only one small ‘sharp' knife that wasn't sharp and tiny cups, plates and glasses. No tongs but they had things like a lemon squeezer and a butter dish? I would recommend picking your accommodation carefully at this hotel if you like your privacy.

"Lovely hotel with helpful staff and good food."
WelcombeSue, 25 Mars 2020

Great stay at The Porth Veor Manor. Lovely meal on our first night in their beautiful restaurant. Breakfasts were equally good and vegetarian sausages were provided on request. Lovely room and nice bathroom - the shower was good.

"Excellent Garden Villas stay"
keithamara, 15 Février 2020

We were very impressed with the Garden View cottage that we had booked through Travelzoo. Furnishings and equipment were of a good standard and the cottage was very comfortable for two people. As they are still very new, there is a certain amount of improvement that can be made to the surrounding grounds, but I'm sure that will be done very soon.

"Another Pleasant Stay!"
malsmith, 14 Février 2020

Another enjoyable stay at Porth Veor Manor, again on a special two night deal with a three course dinner and breakfast. We upgraded to a Superior double room at the time of booking and really felt it was a good option. Our room was a generous size with two "zipped" single beds making a King Plus sized bed. A double wardrobe and large flat screen tv with Freeview and Sky channels was also very good. Shower room was well appointed though there did seem to be a problem with slow water drainage from both the sink and shower which we reported to reception. Also we had noise early morning from the room above which woke us up, basically just continual footsteps etc but it was from 7.00am on both mornings which suggested it might be a member of staff, again we reorted this to reception. We didn't think the restaurant was quite up to the previous high standards we've enjoyed hence our review at four star rather than five. The portion sizes seemed on the small side, I had a rump steak one night and it eas very thin, not the 8 oz identified on the menu. Breakfast was also not quite to par, with our poached eggs the yolks were hard and when I ordered chefs special of kipper I was expecting a whole fresh kipper not the filleted portion that arrived. One foodie positive though was the "Groupon Voucher" Cream Tea which exceeded our expectations, never seen so much clotted cream!! It's fair to say the hotel had just re-opened after a winter refurbishment so maybe that accounted for some of the problems in the restaurant. We will return as it is one of our favouritees for a winter birthday treat, hopefully we will be able to revert to five stars.

"NEW YEAR AND GUESTS"
Trip693192, 03 Janvier 2020

All hotel facilities were excellent, food was best I have had in Cornwall, including Jamie Olivier 15, staff very good, only downside was bar night service in the bar at night could have been a lot better. Service in this area lets the hotel down.

"Super Accommodation, Great Staff, Excellent Food"
alanjones7, 02 Janvier 2020

Would recommend this venue, Service was excellent, a Vegan diet was catered for, but it is advisable to speak to the staff when making a reservation. Room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable and internet access was trouble free. If you have a disability or mobility issue you might need to check with staff about room allocation as stairs may be a challenge. Staff are friendly welcoming and attentive to our needs,

"LOVELY HOTEL WITH FRIENDLY STAFF"
colly169, 27 Novembre 2019

The Hotel offered everything that we were looking for during our short break in Cornwall, including comfortable and clean accommodation/surroundings, a friendly atmosphere, pleasant and helpful staff and excellent food! We will certainly make a return visit to the Hotel in the future.

"Absolutely amazing"
4seanp, 13 Novembre 2019

We arrived on the Friday evening, we went to check in, the young lady on reception could not have been more helpful and genuinely happy to see us. The room we had booked was clean and well appointed, to be honest it was amazing. The staff are organised and well presented, also very helpful, I must mention one of the staff, a lady called Louisa she was absolutely awesome, to both my partner and myself nothing was never any trouble. An absolutely amazing place, I would recommend this place to anyone. I would just like to say a big thank you to all the staff at this beautiful hotel for such a great stay.

"Hoilday"

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel this year and I have never been disappointed service excellent staff or friendly and helpful and polite nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent thank you for a lovely stay simon and Joan

"Wonderful Cream Tea"
TheBakersofDevon, 02 Novembre 2019

We didn't stay at this hotel, but used a Groupon voucher for a wonderful cream tea a few weeks ago. Would thoroughly recommend it. We were looked after by the hotel team and it was probably one of the best presented cream teas I've ever had (& being from Devon, we've had a lot!).

"Excellent Hotel"
bradfarley, 31 Octobre 2019

Stayed at Porth Veor for one night. Everything about this hotel is exceptional. The service, the room, the food, the hospitality were all exceptional. I will definitely be returning. I would recommend anyone to stay here if in the area

"Good Hotel let down by company"
Graham H, 31 Octobre 2019

Took payment from secured credit without authorisation, Booked via Best Western hotel kept sending e-mails from Breaks in Cornwall, this name was also on invoice not BW Now getting e-mails from other holiday companies. Coincidence?

"October break"

"Beautiful spot for a break"
bottle, 08 Octobre 2019

We spent a lovey few days here in September, admittedly the excellent weather added to the experience, but I have to say that the Villa we stayed in was top notch, very well finished, clean and all the mod cons. The staff are very helpful and the place seems to run like clockwork. We really enjoyed our stay here and hope to return again soon.

"Great views"
Marian L, 25 Septembre 2019

Having stayed at this hotel for a wedding four years ago we were curious to see what it was like now. We were not disappointed as our room was very nicely decorated with a sea view. Breakfast was also a good experience. We then stayed in a garden villa, newly built this year. We were very impressed by the furnishings and decor, and would have gladly stayed longer.

"A fabulous Cornish haven"
ANGIAJP, 24 Septembre 2019

A lovely mix of old (Manor)& newly refurbished rooms to a high finish. Fabulous location just a short stroll to the beach. Very attractive restaurant with views & an unbeatable Cornish breakfast not to be missed! The staff are friendly & helpful & we will definitely be returning.

"View was better than the service"
AndreaN1329, 15 Septembre 2019

Looks can be deciving with this hotel, looks grand but restaurant service and lack of staff let's it down. We booked for dinner at 8pm as they claimed they were very busy between 6-8pm. There were about 12 people and we waited till 8.30pm to be seated and then waited ages for food. Three staff to run restaurant, bar and reception!!!!

"Very disappointing Hotel"
nyree2019, 05 Septembre 2019

Breaffast had a hair in food. Reported to staff and just apologised. No other explanation given or a refund! Room was very small and not that clean. Tiles broken on floor in bathroom and grout on wall was discoloured. Behind radiator was dirt and grime, not been cleaned. Bed on small side, did not feel like a double more like a small double. View was not good as on the side of window. Parking spaces were limited. Overall stay disappointing!

"Perfect Place to Stay"
Albert148, 22 Juillet 2019

We stayed for 7 nights at the hotel Bed & Breakfast, the quality & quantity of the breakfast is exceptional, specials available as well all local produce. The resturant in the evening is just as good. The hotel also has self catering units located within 30 seconds of the hotel they are also very well maintained and furnished & and very spacious, it is far better to stay in this accomodation as you can still use the Hotel facilities including the resturant but have the added bonus of a 20% reduction on the price of Breakfast & Dinner no reduction for Hotel Guests. Some rooms offer a sea/ Beach view but don't bother as only a few rooms actually have a balcony you can use and not worth the extra £70- £210. Another downside was the bar closed at 10:30pm a bit early for me.

"Beautiful hideaway hotel in Newquay"
TeeGal63, 09 Juillet 2019

Upon arriving at this hotel, it was absolutely beautiful and tucked away from the bustle of the street. Our room was very airy and spacious ... a PLUS when traveling abroad and staying for a few nights. The room was clean and smelled great! Every convenience needed for travelers was at our disposal. Had a great view of Porth Beach. Walking distance to a wonderful pizza & beer joint nearby. Cute li'll town near Newquay Bay that we spent our days at, then returned to chill with a glass of bourbon or wine. Didn't use the pool as we played in the ocean all day, but it was always clean. The only minor complaint I have to say is their showers had half glass doors that didn't keep the water inside the tub. Why half glass shower doors? I don't know. Most of it was exposed, thus we got water everywhere surrounding the tub. But like I said, that's the only minor complaint. Will return to this place and maybe try staying in one of their villas.

"Enjoyable Stay"
jimanderson10, 07 Juillet 2019

Elevated location just off main road, close to the beach. Shared site with apartments complex compact car park .Steps from lower car park plus 2 flights of stairs to room. The King room was good size and tasteful décor probably refurbished recently. Good powerful shower. Large bed. Beautifully quiet with windows closed , otherwise some road noise. Complimentary tea tray always appreciated. Good breakfast worth upgrade for cooked option. Quick service. Lovely conservatory restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice (small) heated outdoor pool. Great value.

This was our 4th visit to this hotel complex. We have previously stayed in the 2 bed beach view villas but needed the extra bedroom due to now having a grown up family. We definitely preferred the 2 bed villas over the 3 bed. We found the 3 bed a bit cramped especially in the kitchen area for 5 adults and prefer the more private balcony and terrace of the 2 bed as opposed to the patio being right next to the shared pool area; no private outside space and could be quite noisy at times. That said we still had a fabulous week and will definitely be back for a fifth visit as the proximity to Newquay is great. For information of anyone looking to book this villa, there is one double downstairs with a separate bathroom in the hallway, a double ensuite upstairs (very small bed) and a big twin room with bath only. This room is the best in the apartment and leads out onto a balcony. We unfortunately never used the balcony as it was off the twin rather than the double (probably due to the double room being so small and unable to fit 2 singles in).

What can I say excellent experience. Very helpfull and friendly staff nothing is to much trouble. My room was excellent with fantastic views of the beach and coast line. All my meals were top noch. A total chill out zone for me

"Anniversary return"
Freedom61749742043, 11 Juin 2019

This was our first stay at porth veor and certainly will not be the last. The hotel was spotless and the staff were all very obliging. The food was excellent and well presented. The hotel was close enough to Newquay for a stroll and close enough to watergate bay for beautiful beaches and the surf.Overall the hotel had everything you need and we will not hesitate to go back. Thanks to everybody concerned for a most enjoyable stay

"Very nice hotel "
E1295AWsteveh, 08 Juin 2019

A reasonably priced hotel just outside Newquay. With nice clean rooms, some have a view of the sea. Good quality breakfast. Close to a number of nice beaches including Watergate and Morgan Porth. I would definitely consider staying here again.

"Lovely hotel"
Jeanette H, 03 Juin 2019

Me and my husband enjoyed a week at Porth Veor Manor. Staff were friendly and hotel was immaculate. Minor issues of running out of items during our stay e.g. Korev, black pudding. Shame because I would have given a rating of 5.

"Great hotel and great staff"
EMEMIRIS, 03 Juin 2019

Stayed in room 28 for 3 nights, has a nice view. Spacious room with bath and shower. Tea and coffee making facilities and iron and ironing board provided. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was really good, with a cooked breakfast cooked to order rather than buffet style. Ate in the restaurant one night and would recommend. The hotel has a friendly atmosphere, and the staff are very helpful (there was a problem with the thermostat on the shower, they checked it and ordered a new part and gave us the keys to an empty room to use the shower there). Not a problem to store our luggage for the day as we were flying home in the evening. Hope to return and highly recommend.

"Special birthday holiday"
StaffordshireCharlie, 01 Juin 2019

Stayed for one week with my husband on bed and breakfast basis. Loved this hotel, our room was modern and looked to be newly refurbished with a super king fabulously comfy bed. Breakfast was also good, buffet of cereal, fruit, yoghurt, pasties and toast then full Cornish cooked breakfast from menu with tea or coffee. All the staff at this hotel were polite, cheerful and helpful which made the whole experience even better. We really hope to be back next year. Thank you,,

"Last Minute Booking"
Phil N, 16 Mai 2019

This was a last minute booking and Hotel was far better than the website pics. It was very clean, well ordered and ideal for what I required. Staff were most helpful and attentive. The room I was given was large, well appointed with a great view across Porth beach. It had a huge, very comfortable bed, nice bathroom with a walk in shower and lounge area with settee, coffee table, tv, tea & coffee. Free wi-fi. Breakfast was well cooked, delicious, with a good selection of foods available for all tastes. I will return staying in the area.

"Excellent"
Witless2013, 08 Mai 2019

Porth Veor Manor Hotel was an excellent find. All the staff were exceptionally friendly & helpful, the hotel was very clean indeed throughout, the food was good, the location was perfect, the outlook lovely. The big conservatory used for the restaurant/breakfast is delightful. I found it odd that this was only rated 3* but the only reason is that it has no lift! Maybe some of the decor was a little bit 80s in style, but it didn't detract one bit from the fact that the hotel was so well cared for.

"Excellent Cornish break"
Navigate55899643821, 08 Mai 2019

Lovely room overlooking bay, very comfortable bed, super chef, good choice on breakfast menu and evening meal, very helpful staff, great to relax in outdoor heated pool after walking on the coastal paths.Stunning views.

"Good location, great food and lovely staff, room needs updating"
johnjcollins, 30 Avril 2019

We had booked a beach view room but found this to be on the third floor so switched to a second floor room overlooking the pool which was just about okay but needs updating. The staff at the hotel are friendly & helpful, especially Sean (bar) and the receptionists. Dinner on the first night was exceptional (fillet steaks), all three courses nicely paced. The dining room was a little cold but better on the second night as the clocks had gone back and beautiful sunshine was floodung into the lovely room. Dinner was good again. Breakfast was excellent both mornings but on the second it was a liitle embarassing for staff to admit to having run out of orange juice and black and white sausage puddings. Overall a good stay helped enormously by the brilliant weather we enjoyed that weekend.

"Charming location, staff, and food"
Amiliiaa, 16 Avril 2019

My stay at the Porth Veor Hotel absolutely exceeded my expectations. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, and the food was wonderful. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating from the start. Reception went out of their way to assist in any possible way. Lizzie at reception made me feel at home and answered any questions I had, along with any of the other staff I spoke to. The town of Newquay was not far, either a lovely bit of a walk or a short drive, but it was nice to not be in the centre of the town but instead to be RIGHT on the shores of the beautiful beach while still being able to easily access everything. I will certainly be coming back here soon!

"Cornish Break"
BristolDolly, 14 Avril 2019

Lovely small hotel recently refurbished, stayed four nights. All staff friendly and helpful, bedroom on first floor good size nicely decorated very comfortable bed tea/coffee biscuits replenished daily, view overlooking Porth beach. Good choice of breakfast with high quality produce which was served in the Conservatory with the wonderful views. Enjoyed dinner in the hotel which was top class very good value for the money compliments to the Chef! Parking on site ideal location for beaches whats not to like? will definitely return. . .

"Hotel walkable distance from beach"
Hikkihils, 14 Avril 2019

Room was fine though view to sea was only visible from lovely, airy dining room. However, 2+ flights of stairs (the second of which was VERY steep) and no lift meant a bit of a struggle to get cases up and down. Good, served breakfast (cold buffet). Dinner menu did not vary day to day & only one vegetarian option so could get a bit boring if you always eat in the hotel.

"One night business stay"
mariaharnett2018, 14 Avril 2019

Very well placed for Newquay and Newquay Airport. Exceptionally friendly staff at check in. Beautifully appointed bedroom and comfortable surroundings. Good menu choice at on site restaurant however lots o local amenities also available.

"Good Sunday lunch"
Head_H0nch0, 01 Avril 2019

Great location. Dining room is in a conservatory with views across the beach and valley. Starter portions were generous as was the main course. We had a mix of chicken, beef and sea bass - all beautifully cooked. Service was excellent.

"Excellent Stay at a Lovely Hotel"
KDS56, 30 Mars 2019

Our stay at the Porth Veor Manor was a lovely experience, the staff were efficient and friendly. The meals at the hotel both Dinner and Breakfast is prepared with Excellent Quality ingredients, and excellent presentation.. The cleanliness of the rooms and the public spaces are again excellent.. Our room was on the second floor, and the stairs to these rooms we consider for a hotel to be quite narrow and quite steep. However, we understand the constraints of an old building, and although this did not distract from our experience, some may wish to request a room on the first floor. All in all an excellent stay, excellent food, and excellent staff.

"Wonderful break"
Fearless50915591448, 28 Mars 2019

Small hotel in a lovely location with excellent food, service and accommodation. Great VFM escape for a few days which allowed us to take some stunning walks including Bedruthan Steps nearby. A special mention must go to Charlotte who was a star.

"Gem of a hotel"
AndreaEveSmith, 28 Mars 2019

We have stayed with Porth Veor 3 times now, once in their beachside apartment and twice in the hotel, and we will certainly be staying there again. Nothing to find fault with, lovely friendly staff, good restaurant and nice rooms. Porth is great location, within walking distance of Newquay but quieter, which suits us fine. They were in the process of building eco friendly apartments at the back of the hotel, so there will be plenty of choice for everyone. Looking forward to our next visit.

"Stay at Porth Veor Manor Hotel"
Scenic01343251138, 19 Mars 2019

Went away on business to Newquay plus stayed on an additional night for pleasure. The hotel was very clean and the staff were extremely helpful. We ate in on one evening and the food was very good with locally sourced products where possible. Breakfast was good although no yogurt for the fruit. On the downside, parking is very limited but there was some building work going on at the time. Overall a nice place to stay.

"One night away"
975kays, 18 Février 2019

Stayed for one night on 17/02/2019. Had a phone all A's we were pulling into the drive to say our payment hadn't gone through, even though we booked a week prior and had an email confirmation, reception staff were trying to take another payment when I started to pull i my emails it appeared the gentleman had sorted it out and we had paid, could be a misunderstanding however just appeared strange. The room 11 was lovely and we enjoyed a breakfast in the restaurant the next day Mark who served us was an example of great customer service and the food was plentiful and delicious.

"Clean, stylish, very friendly"
wixon, 17 Février 2019

We spent two nights in the hotel. We were delighted. The hotel has obviously just been refurbished. Everything was new and clean. The room - 16 - had an attractive sea 'glimpse' and it was warm (a bit too much so), bright, clean, well furnished with a large and comfy bed. Everything was just great really and the genuine friendliness of the staff was lovely too. The restaurant was good too with lovely tables in the winter sun at breakfast. We'll be back. In a good way.

"Fabulous breakfast but"
Eva7171, 09 Février 2019

They gave away our room! So they led us up a very narrow stairwell and gave us a terrible room in essentially the attic, where the air quality was dreadful - stuffy and stale with only one tiny window. They kept saying that we would need to speak to the manager, but such a thing was apparently impossible, like some sort of twisted comedy. Generally, the staff was unhelpful, clumsy and very confused. Nobody knew where extra blankets were, for instance. The beds were extremely uncomfortable; you could feel the springs through the mattress. When we got moved to our 'real' room the next night, things were better. The buffet breakfast was very generous and tasty. There was one staff member whose name I forget. She was from Romania, and she was helpful and friendly. Put her in charge and things might turn around.

"Relaxing trip "
laurensD4193PB, 09 Décembre 2018

Booked through Wowcher. Deal included two nights accommodation, breakfast, a 3 course meal and Prosecco. Hotel is fairly dated but we knew this before booking. Location is great for Porth beach, but roughly a 30 minute walk into Newquay centre. Service in the restaurant was fairly slow, even though at breakfast there was max 6 couples in at a time. But the breakfast itself was lovely. The continental breakfast didn't look like the best selection. The room was very practical with a fairly dated furniture which is a shame because it wouldn't take much to make it better. Even down to having a dressing table (lovely feature) but the chair that goes with it doesn't fit because once you sit on it you can't see in the mirror! Getting to the room is a little bit of a nightmare when carrying bags, through back doors and small staircases with lots of doors to get through. Check out was fairly painful, as the man suggested we had drinks on a tab which we didn't. He took his time to realise that these were included in the deal, which he did apologise for. Overall, it was fine for what we wanted, an affordable weekend getaway. But I'm not sure we would return without a deal.

"Great location and that is it"
Bart D, 05 Décembre 2018

Have stayed here quite a few times as this is the perfect location for my work. But the last 2 stays are starting to change my opion quickly. Always been good value BUT booking in is fine but the last 2 rooms (Although Doubles) have been in need of a freshen up, Bed uncomfortable - Lack of Sleep for Work, Poor lighting and Wifi - Unable to work at night due to needing a torch to see keyboard awaiting for the slow paced connection repeat......Then awaiting for the breakfast and the 3rd time, Lack of service/Help and not even warm enough to eat, Advise a local cafe if hungry. Such a shame as this is such a great place but is going downhill i am sorry to say.

"Not sure that we will return "
Walter C, 25 Novembre 2018

We initially booked a two night stay via Booking.com but had to change to one night a few days prior confirmed by Booking. Com. Whilst we were given a warm but rather over familiar welcome news of the change of booking had not been noted by the hotel and indeed the next morning we discovered that monies for both nights had already been taken; a refund was quickly offered but shouldn't have been necessary. The superior room (11) was great and spotless but rather near to a banging corridor door. The main shortfall was in the dining room which whilst it might be great in summer months was cold both in temperature and atmosphere on a cold winter evening. We took an early dinner and were the first to order only mains but delivery took over 30 minutes, the chef seemingly having run out of salmon and had to get resupply. We had no communication advising of any delay. The menu choices especially for desserts did not match the winter weather. Breakfast service was again slow with a need to ask that our order be taken. Mine was for a gluten free standard English breakfast. It arrived with no egg the only reason offered was that the chef had forgotten it. Parking was another issue especially if arriving at the same time as others and if you have heavy cases to unload near to the front door. Sadly not a venue that I will recommend.

"relaxing break"
webbySwindon, 16 Novembre 2018

We had a 2 night midweek break here. It was so relaxing, weather not so good!! The staff are so friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in room 10 with lovely views. Food in restaurant really nice, Fillet steak was amazing . In fact food so nice we ate in restaurant both nights. We were served by duty manager first night, and Louisa second night. Both really good. Breakfast served by a lovely young guy (sorry didnt get his name). Shame hotel quiet, but it was November. Short walk across beach to Mermaid pub, Walked into Newquay in about 20 minutes.

"You must stay here!"
matthewbeard, 10 Novembre 2018

We booked to stay for two nights through booking.com and apart from a quick check on here were not too sure what to expect. The Hotel is in a fantastic location overlooking the beautiful Porth Beach. We ventured into Porth on our first evening (bearing in mind this is mid week November) and went down to the Mermaid for something to eat (don't be put off by the outside). On our second evening we ate in the Hotel which was very nice. Breakfast was by far one of the best we've had in a Hotel for a long, long time. Having stayed for our two scheduled nights, we were overwhelmed by one member of staff's attention, help and friendliness; Luisa - so much so that we decided to stay another night. It's cost us alot more in the past to stay in B&B's and Pub's than we paid to stay here; it really is exceptional value for money I would recomend anyone to stay. Hopefully we'll be able to come back again soon, however in the meantime I would suggest that the Management take the opportunity to give Luisa a promotion and a pay rise - as she is a great Ambassador for your business!

"Absolutely Perfect"
warri0r10, 03 Novembre 2018

What an amazing hotel. First and foremost, the staff are fabulous. So helpful, polite and friendly. Room was really lovely with a slight sea view. Comfortable bed, super bathroom. Love the added extra of a coffee machine. Breakfast was the best we've had in any accommodation and we travel a lot. Only 2 minor negatives are: evening menu for Wowcher deal was very limited and room was very warm but we were given a fan on request. Other than that we really cannot fault this wonderful hotel. If we visit Cornwall again this will definitely be our choice of accommodation. Well done Porth Veor!

"Great Hotel!"
Dean-Roberts, 29 Octobre 2018

My wife, daughter and I booked villa No.10 called Marazion. We were very surprised by the size of the place. The double bedrooms (each with separate bath/shower rooms) were situated on the ground floor and the kitchen/diner and lounge were situated on the first floor. Both bedrooms had TVs and the lounge had a large TV with 3-piece sofa. The kitchen was fully-fitted and the balcony upstairs overlooked the local beach. The full Cornish breakfast was cooked to perfection and the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The WiFi also worked. We will definitely stay again when we head to Newquay. Keep it up guys!

"Beautiful hotel for a wedding"
southwesttraveller1, 28 Octobre 2018

We went to a wedding here which was fantastic. The staff were brilliant very curtious helpful and always had a smile. The food was of high standard, good quality , and plenty of it. I would definitely recommend. The rooms are a bit tired but are clean, comfortable and has all amenities.

"Hotel officially 3* but deserves 4" rating"
ScenerySteve, 27 Octobre 2018

This is a lovely traditional hotel in a quiet and peaceful location over looking the fabulous Porth beach. Staff are friendly and helpful. In the autumn, when we stayed, the was lovely and warm through out with no draughts. We had room 11 on the first floor and it was very spacious with a large terrace and good sized ensuite shower room. The king sized bed was very comfortable with a Tempur style mattress and 6 pillows. Tea, coffee and chocolate making facilities provide with the bonus of 2 packs of biscuits. Two comfortable chairs and a huge TV. Double windows to give good views of the sea, beach and hills. Large fluffy towels and comfortable bedding added to quality. Only compaints were that refreshments and toiletries were not replaced daily. The 3-course dinner was excellent with a good choice of wines. Much better than the 3* rating implies. Great views from the dining room, lounge and bar too. There's an outdoor pool, but no indoor one or gym etc. Definitely worth a return visit. Well done team.

"Wonderful Break"
mickhanbury, 22 Octobre 2018

I saw an offer for this hotel on Wowcher and was nervous about booking as i hadnt used Wowcher before.I needn't have worried the whole process was so smooth, as soon as i had made the booking i was sent an email direct from the hotel confirming all the details. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff and even the manager made an effort to speak to us which was a nice touch. The room was adequate and comfortable, next time i would pay extra and get a sea view. The evening meal was superb and although it was quite quiet because of the time of year the staff ensured we had a pleasant meal. This is a very pleasant and well looked after hotel and i would have no hesitation in returning.

"Nice break "
Peter Y, 17 Octobre 2018

Stayed at this hotel for the last 2 nights using a Wowcher deal. £139 for a double room with dinner and a glass of proseccco on the first night and full cooked breakfast both mornings. Excellent value for money. Nice room with lovely beach view (room10). Staff were fantastic and food was amazing. 3 course dinner on the first night is off a restricted "wowcher" menu but a decent choice. I had the chicken salad as a starter and also chicken for main course. The food quality was great and the presentation was brilliant - think fine dining restaurant. Great location to explore this part if Cornwall. Will definitely visit again.

"Almost 5 out of 5"
Cmss D, 15 Octobre 2018

Lovely manor hotel, staff friendly and pleasant, breakfast cooked to order so very fresh, Clean and tidy, would definitely stay again, only two complaints: 1 is the car park, not many nice size spaces available as shared with the villas on site. 2 we stayed in room 10 which was lovely and view of the beach too however woken up very early by people above, don't know what they were doing possibly exercises however constant noise through the ceiling of footsteps followed by water running from the shower. so be warned not very sound proof.

"A very agreeable able stay"
RichWKent, 14 Octobre 2018

Without exception the staff were welcoming, professional and on the ball. But standing out during our visit was Sean, a young man learning his trade and clearly serious about matching the high standards of service of his more experienced colleagues. Good facilities, good food and drink and a good night's sleep all helped make this a very pleasant visit.

"Anniversary Gift"

Lovely room . Great place to stay . Excellent food . Welcoming staff . Great location. Would highly recommend. A short break in Cornwall beach is lovely. Fantastic walks . Had a trip to Padstow which was beautiful. Had a lovely cream tea there . Played crazy golf which was by Newquay Zoo.

"Great Hotel"
Dagdog40, 27 Septembre 2018

Stayed here for a short break and was more than impressed from the moment we arrived to the day we sadly departed as our room which we upgraded to sea view was so lovely with a balcony with a view over the bay and to the sea beyond, also the housekeeping was done everyday which was fantastic, the food was first class and the staff were also smiling and could not do enough for you,for a 3 star rating this hotel exceeds itself in every way so i would like to thank the staff for making our stay so enjoyable and we will be looking to return here in the near future

"Lovely hotel. Hope to return."
KazzyP2016, 22 Septembre 2018

We booked to stay in September for 2 nights but stayed an extra night as it was so comfortable. The purpose of our stay was to visit the Eden Project and this was easily reached by car in approx. 30 minutes. Newquay was a pleasant 20/30 minute walk away but there is a bus stop close by. Our room was on the Second floor up some slightly steep steps but this was not a problem as we only had small cases. The room and bathroom were very good as were the cleaning staff. I would request a room on the 1st floor if staying longer or book one of the lovely self-catering villas. The small pool looked lovely but we did not get time to try it. The restaurant was very good for both breakfast and evening meal which catered for my husband's gluten free vegetarian diet. The bar was reasonably priced and the seating areas were very pleasant. The restaurant and conservatory had a lovely view of the beach. The staff were very professional and always helpful. I would like to go back in the summer time and use the hotel as a base to visit more of Devon and Cornwall.

"Birthday Treat"
Nettie1948, 22 Septembre 2018

Amazing place to stay. Standards are very high. Staff are all very helpful. Gold Star for Louisa. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She made my Birthday a very special day. The food was excellent and the room was amazing with its own balcony overlooking Porth beach. We highly recommend and we will return.

"Wedding"
peterK3099ZR, 18 Septembre 2018

A lovely place to stay for a holiday in Newquay. Stayed there for my daughters wedding, very comfortable bed, and great shower. Food and service was first class. This hotel is highly recomended, with great views over Porth beach, with easy access to the beach. The centre of Newquay is only a short car journey away.

"Lovely stay. "
kirsty t, 10 Septembre 2018

A beautiful place to stay. We stayed in an apartment for a week with family & were extremely satisfied. We are definitely coming back next year. The apartment had everything we needed & kept lovely and clean. A lovely hotel with a bar & restaurant, nice warm pool & very helpful, polite staff members. Ideal location with lots of beaches and views. Some nice walks. We visited Padstow & St Ives which are lovely places to visit. Just a car journey away, not too far. Overall a wonderful place to go, everyone is so friendly & a great place for dog owners.. I've never seen so many dogs :)

"Sad to leave"
julesie1, 27 Août 2018

This is a lovely hotel with a heated outdoor pool. The rooms were clean and the beds were lovely. I slept so well here. The conservatory was great to sit in, have a drink and just look at Porth beach. Breakfast was good with both a full Cornish breakfast as well as toast, cereals, fruition etc to help yourself too. Had a wonderful short break here and was so sad to leave.

"Amazing hotel "
Halifax94, 23 Août 2018

So just to give some context , we are a family of 5 and this was the first time ever i have booked a UK holiday due to our newborn son. I was really apprehensive as this hotel is 3 star and what you pay for in this country as opposed to what you pay and get abroad is on a much larger scale in every way. That said, I booked this hotel as it had what looked like a nice family room with bunk beds. Travelling down from Yorkshire , we checked in around noon as the room was ready. Outside of the hotel looks lovely, very quaint and pretty. Our room was amazing. Based on the 2nd floor I carried my luggage up as no lift but that adds character to the building . Lovely spacious room. Kids loved the large space as they have at home and abroab in big hotels. Location was pretty much on Porth Beach which was great, car parking spaces were there which I was worried about even in August. Pool was Greta, heated and spacious enough, kids loved it. Was closed on our last day for repairs but that's out of the hotels control. The room had the most amazing powerful shower, not sure what they are like in normal rooms. Only had breakfast which was delicious , all staff are nice, special shout out to the cleaners who are friendly and made a fuss over my daughters and son. All in all, a lovely break in Newquay and st ives as the hotel is based centrally to travel around. Loved our first time to Cornwall and the kids said it was one of their best holidays so thank you to the hotel and to staff as I know they wouldn't have enjoyed it unless it was this good. Will book again if we come down this way again, may look at the apartments and villas in ten hotel grounds as they looked amazing as well. Wouldn't hesitate to book again.

"Great short break ...lovely hotel "
Andyhipkiss, 12 Juillet 2018

Booked a 3 night short break in Newquay ..found this gem of a hotel ...wasnt disappointed . Had room 26 on the 2nd floor with lovely views of the rear garden and Porth beach . The room was clean and bed was zip linked into a massive bed which was very comfortable . Bathroom had a lovely large shower which was very welcome after a busy day . We had breakfast included with our stay and wow we couldn't of asked for better . Teas and coffees , continental buffet to choose from ..fruit juices..numerous cereals incl porridge .. pastries..cold meats and cheese .. yogurts and fresh bread to toast yourself . Then came cooked breakfast which you order at your table .First morning I had full Cornish traditional which had best ingredients and was gorgeous...they had specials each morning including smoked kippers ..smoked haddock ...omelettes with choice of fillings and smoked salmon which I had with scrambled eggs yummmm...we were served on all 3 mornings by Sally who was very friendly and helpful and always had time too chat even though she was really busy . Nothing was to much trouble for her ..thank you Sally . We didn't have evening dinner but the menu looked lovely with a good selection with an early bird menu before 6.45pm.. My only negative I had was the restaurant shut at 8.30pm and when I asked if we could order bar food ..only crisps were available ... maybe chips..sandwiches could be offered ?? Overall the hotel was excellent all the staff were friendly and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble . The hotel was on the outskirts of Newquay in a quiet area. We will be returning very soon and maybe get in the inviting swimming pool next time ...

"Hotel very close to Sandy Beach"
Manfred B, 11 Juillet 2018

My wife and I spent a week at the Porth Veor Manor Hotel and very much enjoyed our stay there, having booked a Double Room with Sea View. The Grounds at the back of the Hotel were of good size and the heated Swimming Pool located towards the front of the Hotel was if anything a little too warm especially with the hot weather. The Hotel was very comfortable with a Bar, Lounge Area and a Restaurant that afforded views across Porth Bay. All the staff were very friendly and most helpful!

"Lovely relaxing stay"
Helen H, 18 Juin 2018

Stayed in an apartment poolside. Property was amazing, staff very helpful Would definitely return again for another stay. This was our sixth stay so hopeful that says it all. Heated swimming pool outside patio doors was a real plus.

"Recommend, would stay again"
m4ttLAD, 28 Mai 2018

I visited Newquay with friends and stayed in 1 of the apartments, the receptionist was helpful when we checked in, the apartment was great and we also made use of the pool which is heated. The walk into the town centre isn't far at all, I would recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting newquay :)

"Great Location"
Bob H, 30 Avril 2018

The hotel is in great location with great sea and beach views The beach is at the bottom of the garden through a gate and down a small path. Food was very good and the staff were excellent. Would definitely recommend

"3 night short break"
David W, 27 Avril 2018

Booked online for a short break in Cornwall. We were very pleased with our stay in this hotel and would definitely look to come back. The hotel is clean, the meals were excellent and the staff were all very helpful. The location just outside of Newquay near a lovely family friendly beach was just right for us.

"nice hotel, lovely breakfast"
maud d, 17 Avril 2018

Stop there for a couple of nights, very clean hotel. Needs to tidy the common area but lovely. Breakfast was nice. Just a bit not welcoming enough, maybe out of season and so short staffed, but never see anyone behind the bar to serve so fill a bit empty. Probably better during main season.

"Secret Escapes break"
heathherring, 01 Avril 2018

Stayed 2 nights on Secret Escapes break bed and breakfast and dinner on first night. Room a little too small up in the eaves but clean and comfortable enough. Dinner a disappointment food not brilliant but staff very friendly and they did their best. Breakfast also a disappointment very basic but again staff very helpful.

"2 day holiday break"
peweestan, 01 Avril 2018

Very helpful staff Looked like the hotel has gone through a major re-fit, as all looked new and very clean -well done to the hotel staff/owners. We booked with secret escapes smart stay. As a consequence we think we were given a small attic room (but nice & clean and amenities as expected) due to the price we paid vs normal prices! Evening meal was included for the 1st night, and was just about OK. But breakfast was again 'budget' as you get one slice of bacon + sausage+egg+ B beans. But for what we paid you could say it was acceptable, but to me they should encourage visitors to come again & offer a hearty breakfast, and selection of pastries & fruit. Location is excellent next to the Porth beach and a good 15/20 min walk to Newquay along the side of the beach. Very nice views. Would look to stay there again if we went to Newquay, depending upon the deal.

booked this place on wowcher for the weekend for my husbands 40th for handiness as we are local but I'm 8+ months ths pregnant and couldn't travel. They included two mini champagne on arrival, breakfast and diner on on night 1. When we arrived the hotel was spotless, we upgraded to a Seaview room with huge beds for just £10 a night, the staff were lovely and at diner they had no mini bottles of champagne and just gave us a whole large bottle! The restaurant is so pretty in a conservatory overlooking Porth and we had three stunning courses. I had crab cake starter, steak and then white chocolate torte ALL DELICIOUS. The breakfast is very relaxed atmosphere with good variety.

"A Gem of a Hotel"
ivang1950, 30 Mars 2018

We stayed here as part of a deal and our expectations were well and truly exceeded. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room we had was very well maintained and we were told that they liked to keep on top of work and it showed. Everywhere was spotless. Breakfast was included and the cooked element was served with buffet style cereals, toast and fruit. Well cooked and good sized portions. We ate dinner here one night and were very happy with the choice and quality of the food. I would love to stay here again if near to Newquay. A minor criticism is the parking, there were probably just enough spaces at the time we went but it might be an issue at busy times of the year.

"Very relaxing and enjoyable "
TJ H, 25 Mars 2018

Stayed here for 1 night for our wedding anniversary (wish it could have been longer) As soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The hotel was spotlessly clean and looked as though it had just been redecorated to a very high standard and very tasteful. We stayed in room 24 one of the deluxe rooms on the top floor. Room was very clean light and airy with spectacular views. We had booked for an evening meal in the restaurant and we weren't disappointed. Food was excellent and cooked to perfection. All staff was friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. We would definately recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Fantastic apartments/ Great location"
Debbie C, 25 Mars 2018

Great location for both quite seaside and the hustle and bustle of Newquay. Outstanding accommodation, the beds are of brilliant quality and high quality bedding. The apartment was very clean and tidy and Best Western have thought of everything even down to the dishwasher tablets needed for the dishwasher, this was an added bonus. Very spacious apartments and will return to this great apartment for another enjoyable stay.

"Lovely hotel in a pretty seaside bay."
Annie19641971, 24 Mars 2018

Had a one night stay for other half's birthday and was only really expecting a typical basic hotel as it is a chain but this place feels much more like a family run independent hotel. Very good and friendly service from all staff we came in contact with (a special mention for the new fella on reception and our lovely waitress/barmaid). Lovely room, very clean, lots of wardrobe and drawer space with a great view (even in the snow!) - the room was on the second floor and I think it was a "Superior" room. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I had the best night sleep I had had in a long while. Breakfast was perfectly cooked with lots of choice of both hot and cold items. Very short walk to get down to the beach for a bracing winter walk on the sand (and snow) and up the hill to a stunning view over the bay across Newquay and over to Headland Bay. Very relaxing. Would stay here again.

"Lovely Location"
h0lly1974, 19 Mars 2018

Booked on a deal, which came with breakfast and one dinner. Asked for a room with a bath, this was on the 2nd floor and 2 flights of stairs which we had no problem with. The restaurant was very nice, with views over the beach. the breakfasts were good, a help yourself table for juices ,cereals and fruit and a served hot breakfast with lots of choices, i had the smoked salmon special on both days and the full english was very good too. Pleasantly surprised with our included 3 course dinner, good choices and tasted wonderful. The staff were very nice, particularly in the restaurant, friendly and great service. The only downside was the amount of parking available and wondering if we would find a space when we came back to hotel at night,as a lot of spaces were reserved for the outside villa guests.

"Great few days"
Susie1416, 11 Mars 2018

We arrived to a very warm welcome at reception, the room was newly renovated and a very comfy bed and newly refurbished shower room. Plenty of tea coffee milk provided. The breakfasts were amazing, bacon cooked to perfection (crispy) plenty of choice. Lovely evening meal and pleasant conservatory area to sit and relax in. I particularly liked the style of the staircase and lovely stained glass windows in the entrance hall. Many thanks to all the staff between Sun 18th and Wed 21st February 2018.

"Lovely!"
izzyrogue, 08 Mars 2018

Visited Cornwall with my boyfriend for my birthday, right from when we came in we were made to feel very welcome. The hotel was picturesque and the staff very friendly. Our room was quite large and very tidy and the shower was lovely- my boyfriend wouldn't shut up about how nice it was! We had breakfast included and it was delicious, all of the staff were lovely but a special thank you to Luisa who looked after us at breakfast both days, nothing was a problem for her and she always had a smile on her face! Newquay town is a short five minute drive from the hotel which is really helpful. The hotel itself had a beautiful beach/sea view and there was plenty of parking. Reception kindly provided a toothbrush because I forgot mine, and there is a large range of other things they offer. The room itself had a decent hairdryer and coffee machine as well, perfect! Furthermore, the hotel has a computer and a variety of board games, a nice restaurant and bar, as well as a garden- plenty to do if you just want to relax in the hotel. Overall very pleased, we'll come back soon!

"Two night stay 28 February "
Nigel G, 03 Mars 2018

From the moment we walked into the hotel we were made to feel welcome. As we arrived very early we parked up and went a walk into Newquay which is not to far away. When we got back we got are keys to room 18. Lovely sized room which was very clean and overlooked the pool. Bed was comfortable and plenty of tea and coffee. All the food we had was excellent and would recommend to use the restaurant. I can't recommend this place enough. Regards to all the staff who made are stay brilliant. We even got to see snow on the Beach. Btw my phone network is EE which was fine.

"Beautiful weekend break"
Jan231, 03 Mars 2018

Just returned from a beautiful weekend away. This was booked as a Groupon offer which we upgraded to sea view rooms. Our deal included evening meal on the first night. Our meal was lovely so much so that we decided to eat at the hotel on our second evening. Breakfast was of a very high quality too. Many thanks to all staff especially Louisa who all went out of there way to make sure we were well looked after.

"Disappointing!"
lionking2016, 01 Mars 2018

Firstly don't stay here if you want to be in touch via mobile phone, no signal what so ever! The single room describes as beach view, is small and beach view is there but way in the distance! Bathroom is nice, but sink plug hole obviously in need of a clean! As was the toilet brush! Not pleasant. Disastrous meal in the restaurant, as ordered fish & chips which was cooked by a stand in chef who used smoked haddock instead of normal white fish! Tasted like paraffin! Sent that back to get a chick pea curry which contained no chick peas what so ever! Plenty of sultanas and sweet potato but not a chickpea in sight! Waitress was apologetic and did not charge me for the food. Website promises so much more than actual experience. Away on business so needed good phone signal!! Poor service. Breakfast was pleasant though, I expect the normal chef was back.

"Great Woucher Deal"
malsmith, 24 Février 2018

We've stayed in the Porth Veor villas many times and always thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the very well appointed two & three bed villas but this was our first experience of a room in the hotel and we weren't disappointed. This was a woucher deal and represented very good value with two nights B&B plus one three course dinner and two small bottles of Prosecco. Our room was spotless and we found the large bed (two joined singles) very spacious and comfortable. There was plenty of room for our clothes with a small pine wardrobe and four drawer chest and the en-suite shower room with a walk in shower was a good size complete with loo brush, often sadly missing!! (see my recent review of Carbis Bay Hotel) We also had a decent view from the single window which looked out across Porth Beach. Breakfast was self service for fruit and cereals but then orders taken for tea/coffee and the main course of a 'select' your own full English or as we did, ask about the specials which on one day included kippers or smoked salmon and the second poached haddock. We opted for the fish courses and were extremely happy on both occasions. Our first nights included dinner was three courses but after the first two neither of us could manage a sweet we were so full with the generous portions received.. Although we originally had other plans, we were impressed enough to book again for the second night and went for a two course option including a bottle of house wine @ £45 for two. Again we weren't disappointed, The King prawns were delicious and my sirloin steak, although slightly overcooked was so melt in the mouth It didn't bother me one iota. My wife chose fish followed by a cheesecake dessert which again was a pleasure to eat - fortunately I was allowed to share!! We have eaten in the restaurant several times before during previous visits and know the ingredients are locally sourced - on many of those occasions we've also had meals in some of the more well known celebrity restaurants in both Padstow and Watergate Bay. We've commented at those times that our best meals have been those taken in Porth Veors Beaucliffes restaurant and it certainly lived up to our expectations again this time - Well Done chefs and waiting staff, other staff we met were also very friendly so a big 10 out of 10 from us. This is a small family run business and we will certainly be returning again, my only negative comment, a checkout time of 10.00am is a little early though it does say please ask for an extension which I did, so not really a problem.

"Overnight stay"
rainbow1670, 20 Février 2018

We booked a late deal here for dinner, bed and breakfast and were delighted. Special praise for the food there- such high quality, beautifully cooked and presented and lots locally sourced! Also the staff should be commended for being so very friendly and helpful- we will definitely be back

"The Hummels special weekend , party of 27"
Paul11072015, 18 Février 2018

Great location, superb views and within easy reach of a short walk to a lovely sandy beach. A very hearty breakfast provided, which will set you up for the day. The team had to cater for a very large party and managed us perfectly. Charleston a great little place to visit. Staff really friendly with a particular BIG thanks to Luisa.

"Superb hotel, food gorgeous & lovely staff - Hot Water the only issue!!"
martinI1553IK, 16 Février 2018

Stayed here for business 13th Feb and had room 18 and was gorgeous. Greeted by friendly staff and made to feel really welcome. Place looked immaculate on the way to the room and the room itself was great. Ran the hot tap and this seemed fine but couldn't get shower hot at all (this is about 7pm). Reported issue to reception and was moved to room 29. The water was at best luke warm and really let the stay down. The cooked breakfast was divine and really tasty. I think the "continental" side could be enhanced with some meats and cheeses and perhaps croissants and pain au choc's but that only being super picky.

"Highly recommend this place"
Robert C, 12 Février 2018

Stayed here for a last minute mini break and couldn't be any more pleased with the place. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and upon arrival we where upgraded to a better room due to the hotel being renovated. The rooms are clean and decorated to a high standard, I am surprised that this place is only a 3 star as this hotel is better than some 4 stars I have been to. Breakfast was fantastic too!

"Lovely quiet position"
Caroline J, 11 Février 2018

Overlooking beach. Outdoor pool. Very very Convenient base for exploring. Comfortable rooms and good breakfast in conservatory overlooking beac Nice views and garden. Peaceful but need a car. No lift.

"A Homely Family Affair!"
jagius, 23 Janvier 2018

The Smiths of Travelsmith cut no corners. No mediocrity, no half-measures. Like phoenix from its ashes they have breathed new life into this romantic smugglers' nest which had been run down to dilapidation by its inconscientious previous "owner". The 240° conservatory opened up breathtaking new vistas, the restaurant serves delicious dinners and a finger-licking breakfast, the rooms are spacious and comfortable and the bar is wickedly inviting! The service is intimate and personal. Even buildings have their destiny, not just beings! The Smiths are the best thing to have happened in the history of Porth Veor Manor! They guarantee a stay with which you can't go wrong.

"Family wedding."
Carlos190385, 03 Janvier 2018

We stayed at the Porth Veor as a family member was getting married there. It was a great weekend and the hotel could not have been more helpful, the reception went on until 5am and the staff were gteat. Lovely hotel and outstanding views.

"Hotel was okay but attitude of staff was not great."
kirstie m, 14 Décembre 2017

My partner stayed at this hotel whilst working with a local company and whilst staying he ate his supper within the hotel every evening. He had 3 meals with you and on the 4th night himself and a colleague ate mussels alongside their meals. Both of them became ill over night, vomitting for the following 24 hours. The hotels answer to this was "well sorry" and no hint of concern for the fact he had to miss a day of work and spent the day in his room being violently sick. Is this the way you treat people who have been made unwell by your food? No hint of compensation or empathy. A fabulous way to run a business

"Nice break"
teddiejones, 13 Décembre 2017

Friendly staff. Nice room. Stayed on a 'deal' basis which included meal on first night - shame our food choice was a bit below expectation in taste - but can't fault food presentation and service. Lovely setting near Porth beach - would return.

"Quick Work trip"
Matthew W, 04 Décembre 2017

Arriving much later then I had originally advertised and being the last guest to check in would normally make for a frosty reception. However not here, all of the staff, without fail, where friendly and welcoming. The rooms are a good size in the main hotel with great high ceilings. The ensuite is modern and clean providing everything you need to be ready for another day of meetings. Finally the breakfast offered a wide range of cereal and the cooked to order Cornish Breakfast was very well received.

"Return to an old favorite"
Richard S, 18 Novembre 2017

We have not visited Porth Veor Manor since it joined Best Western. Just as good as ever. Like visiting an old friend. Staff friendly. Rooms clean. Food top class. A well socked bar. What more can I say? What more can you ask?

"cornish gold"
Lyn Marie D, 18 Novembre 2017

wow , what an absolute gem of a place ,we stayed for a weekend break as we live only 80 mins away and we will definitely be returning to this place, the whole experience from arrival to the moment we left was exceptional . we ate in the restaurant on the first evening and i can honestly say that this was the best hotel food i have ever had !!!, we ate out on the second night and wished we wouldnt have! the breakfast was also superb and the staff at this hotel are fantastic , nothing is too much trouble. well done to the people who run this place is really is a pleasure to go somewhere that is run so efficiently.

"Hidden gem"
ID106, 08 Novembre 2017

We fell upon this hidden gem via wowcher. An aging but well maintained hotel with sea views, on the bay of Porth. Staff are second to none for helpfulness and politeness. The food is excellent including a good evening meal and breakfast menu. Good access to Newquay, Perranporth, Boscastle and St Ives. We would definitely return.

"Last minute two-night break with the kids"
Sarah F, 31 Octobre 2017

Excellent service at this hotel. Very helpful staff, gladly providing anything asked for. The cleanliness was brilliant, spotlessly clean everywhere. Good facilities all round, fantastic garden would be idyllic in summer. We had a room with five beds which in itself can be hard to find, however, the room was still comfortably spacious. The double bed was not the most comfortable but served two kids perfectly well. And although breakfast was very good, the coffee at breakfast was unpleasant. But this hotel doesn't deserve to be marked down, hence, a well deserving 5 stars. We would definitely return.

"Fantastic "
lauramasson, 29 Octobre 2017

Stayed here Friday-Sunday. The room was lovely and had a huge bathroom. Great view over the pool area. Staff very friendly and perfectly positioned for a short weekend away. Easy access to new quay and to explore local towns. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant was fabulous. Car park very very busy and hard to park but spaces being take minibuses taking up a space and a half! Management sorted this very quickly

"Great restaurant, lovely staff and a brilliant location"
Mike H, 23 Octobre 2017

We stayed on a Thursday night in low(ish) season. The hotel was quiet which was great for us and we got a nice room on the second floor. The room was a good size and overlooked the swimming pool and houses on the hillside. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Both were delicious, the food was a definite highlight. The facilities were all good if a little tired - all in all okay at the price. A great location (a five minute walk downhill to the beach) and lovely staff helped make this a pleasant stay.

"Two night midweek wowcher break"
David C, 17 Octobre 2017

Excellent room, service and staff. The dinner was excellent and the breakfast was top quality, cooked to order and piping hot. This hotel location and was perfect for exploring the North Cornish Coast. Would recommend highly.

"Great place to stay."
blacksmith0960, 05 Octobre 2017

We had a great holiday in Cornwall and the Porth Veror. Manor Hotel was a great base to stay at to visit all the lovely beaches and surrounding villages & towns. The food was of a great standard every evening and the breakfast was lovely with lots to choose daily from the menu. My only complaint would be the rooms looks fine on the surface but they could have been a lot cleaner and I would surguest a deep clean is needed from time to time!!! Staff are helpful and pleasent at all times. I loved Cornwall and will revisit again next year.

"Quick wowcher break"
Nigel W, 05 Octobre 2017

Great room, friendly staff, felt right at home and cared about plus fantastic food! really good location too. This hotel makes all those soulless corporate four star hotels you have stayed in look silly.

"Lovely Hotel"
Gillian F, 28 Septembre 2017

My husband and i stayed here for long weekend recently. we found the hotel to be very clean, our room and en-suite was very clean and comfortable. the towels in the bathroom are lovely and fluffy. We equipped with everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. the breakfast was excellent and also we had a meal in the restaurant which was amazing. would definately recommend to friends and family and would love to go back. thank you.

"ANY INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS WHO WOULD CHOOSE TO SLEEP IN A ROOM OF VOMIT AND PAY TO DO SO?"
anne m, 20 Septembre 2017

What more can I say? Why would management knowingly not tell international guests that the room had been vomited in two days before? The guests could at least attempt to find alternate accommodation and even after management's attempts to clean the room, it had made no difference, so a fan was placed outside the room door to swish the vomit particles around in the room. Management did not admit to the vomit smell, but after our opening the room door, they offered to find us alternate accommodation of totally insulting standards at the Beachcomber apartments!!!!!! where the lady there told us about the vomit episode saying it's not their fault. Well, that doesn't mean we have to sleep in it. Tear up the carpet, buy a new bed, get an air conditioner . Do what you need to do to maintain a service you are offering and expect 4 star payment for. Misleading star grading on the internet, as they are not 4 star only their cottages are. Find another place to stay. Definitely moved on to better accommodation we found on our own. Highly irritating, inconvenient, unreliable and disappointing. After having to go back there to "ask" for our money back, which was paid in advance online, it was refunded.

"Brilliant Hotel"
barnwood, 14 Septembre 2017

To be able to stay in a Hotel that is close to Newquay but not in the busy and uninviting part is a pleasure. You can just stroll down to the beach or take a 35 walk into Newquay. The welcome at the hotel is second to none. The owner introduced himself which was really good and all the staff were excellent. The rooms were very clean and most comfortable. Just cannot fault this hotel.

"Lovely hotel"
Jan0702, 12 Septembre 2017

What a brilliant hotel, the staff were so helpful and friendly, the food was extremely good probably the best lamb chops ever, nice room with a huge bathroom and the bed was really comfortable, we got a wowcher deal but would go back even if it wasn't discounted

"Big Family Group"
Paul T, 04 Septembre 2017

On holiday with a big family group we had rooms in the hotel, beach view villas and an apartment in the beach house. The villas and apartment proved fantastic value for a lot of modern useable space all very well equipped and very comfortable. There is a great bar area but it is usually unmanned so not easy to use. At breakfast the buffet was not topped up during the morning and some breakfast ingrediants not availble day after day (there is a supermarket in town). These are minor complaints relating to the level or ability of staff rather than anyhting that had an impact on our stay. Brilliant Location and Fantastic Villa and Apartment Accommodation.

"Lovely hotel, great location"
208libby, 02 Septembre 2017

Spent a week here with my children. The hotel is in a great location for the beach and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Thank you Jamie, Sharon Kane, Mark and Luisa (and all the other staff whose names I can't remember!) for looking after us so well. The hotel was very clean, the rooms well equipped and we had everything we needed. I can recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing break in a lovely location, with superb views and excellent service and food. Would love to return.

"Apartment Guest"
Kerryanne S, 10 Août 2017

The heated pool is an amazing asset to this hotel and attached apartments. The apartments are clean and ours was straight across the beach. I would definitely come back to Porth as it's very quite area.

"3 day gourmet break"
VickyEC78, 09 Août 2017

The hotel is nice, rooms clean and staff friendly and helpful. But we found the food in the restaurant not as good starters and dessert fine but the mains were a little boring and very rushed to your table. As soon as you finished your starter the main was sent straight out, giving you no time to digest the starter. We found the coffee in the morning very bitter and didn't taste very nice. This was our second stay at the hotel. As part of the the day package we visited Jamie Oliver's 15 restaurant at Watergate Bay. It was very good we had a voucher of £50 towards the food, we decided to have the tasting menu which was excellent but did cost £65 per person. The area has lots to see and do so the hotel is placed in a great area and has lovely views.

"First visit to porth"
susan s, 04 Août 2017

We had a sea view , superior room and although we had to climb 2 flights of stairs to get to it the view was stunning, over the gardens and beach. The meals in the hotel were very good and the staff in the dining room and bar were lovely.I would happily stay here again. The only thing I would l suggest to alter is the reception.I think it would be more welcoming if the area was more open with the staff facing the customer instead of facing away from you. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

"Holiday stop over"
peter h, 31 Juillet 2017

Good location with sea views but shortage of parking a drawback. Much of hotel given over to private chalets. Nice restaurant with sea views. Good breakfasts with friendly staff. Average room but reasonable prices.

"Handy for Lusty Glaze gig"
lovethesunshineDevon, 24 Juillet 2017

We booked a double room with a sea view, this was on the 2nd floor in quite a small room with the sea view. The room was clean and comfortable and perfectly adequate. Breakfast was also fine but the coffee could have been better! The conservatory looked a nice place to enjoy a quiet moment and the pool would be welcome on a hot day. We walked to Porth beach in the afternoon which took no more than 5/10 minutes. In the evening we walked to Lusty Glaze beach for a gig, again about 10 minutes. This hotel is absolutley fine but would not be quite my usual taste, however the location worked brilliantly for us on this occasion.

"A comfortable hotel offering good food"
Ruth M, 23 Juillet 2017

We stayed just the one night on a touring holiday in Devon and Cornwall. Provided that people have a car, it is probably more enjoyable to stay at Porth Veor Manor Hotel than in Newquay itself. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. Our dinner was very good indeed and we also enjoyed our breakfast. Service was friendly and efficient.

"Lovely location"
JubileeBP, 13 Juillet 2017

The hotel offers all the usual facilities. We stayed in one of the hotel houses. A two bedroomed with sea view was an upside down house so the balcony benefitted from a beach/sea view. The sea view houses are ideal if you don't want to overlook the pool area which is ideal for family's. The only issue to be aware of is that in our house the en suite did not have a shower, just a bath and the main bedroom just a shower, no bath. This was a little inconvenient as we were two couples travelling and would prefer two showers. The hotel is 200 meters from Porth Veor beach and ideal for exploring Cornwall. The house were well equipped - no washer but the hotel offers a laundry service.

"Best western hotel Newquay"
mikehP3626UD, 11 Juillet 2017

What can I say lovely hotel heated pool great food lovely little break from the time we arrived we felt looked after from the out side it doesn't look big but when you get in there it's massive will defo be going back

"Excellent stay, lovely location, brilliant customer service"
Isobel D, 10 Juillet 2017

I stayed in room 26 and just wanted to send a massive thank you to the staff of the above Hotel. My experience from booking the hotel through to the excellent service was amazing. The room was lovely, comfortable, great view , lovely bathroom, clean and bright. The bed was a king-size and had plenty of space, which was great as it was very warm in Cornwall. The view of the conservatory was just lovely and made me feel so relaxed straightaway, as was the view from our table at dinner. The beach is a very short walk away and is a flat sandy beach with a good pub, The Mermaid, at the end which meant you could sit out in the sun. The staff were brilliant right down the special Mojito made for us!!! by the lovely smiling waitress . The rugby was on the following morning at 8.30 and being avid fans they even set up our breakfast in the bar area where the TV was - what more could you ask. This is customer service at the highest standard and so appreciated. I cannot imagine coming back to this part of Cornwall again and not staying here. Thank you so much.

"I will be back!"
paul m, 09 Juillet 2017

Fantastic location, cannot believe this is a 3 star hotel. The breakfast room over looks the beach, lots of choice fruit, croissants, yoghurts, cereals, porridge, and the full English was great. I asked the waiter if he could get me some cream for my coffee and it was on my table in two minutes, it's the little things that matter. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, comfortable bed and powerful shower, spotlessly clean and up to date room with tea and coffee making facilities, lots of parking and friendly staff, what more could you ask for. I'm going back next year with my family. It's a very short walk to Porth beach from the hotel so great for people with families and it also has a great pool.

"Disappointed"
Lucia O, 09 Juillet 2017

We stayed here as a family of 6 for 3 nights in 2 of the two bedroom villas. The beds were small (a double bed is just too small why couldn't they supply queen size?) and noisy springs so haven't slept much in the 3 nights we were here. The continental breakfast in the hotel was poor. I had to ask for more bread to toast & the fruit salad looked like it was made days ago. Positive points were free car parking on site & good wifi. There was however no phone reception in the villas. Had dinner in the hotel the first night. When I made the reservation I wanted to book for 6.30pm. He said no 6.45pm. When we went at 6.45pm the menu was more expensive. They obviously wanted us to spend more. Meal was average.

"Disappointing Result"
14jude, 22 Juin 2017

This is a review regarding one of the holiday rental flats. We have recently returned from 4 Beach Road Porth after a weeks holiday. This flat is best described as a basement flat. There is virtually no outside space and small quadrangle with walls on all sides reaching to the floor above. Unfortunately for us I mis interpreted the pictures shown relating to this flat and wrongly assumed there was a sea view. I wasn't aware that the sea view is actually from the car park at the front of the building. The flat being right at the back. The picture of the block of flats does not give the impression of there being 12 flats in the building. I found it very misleading. The flat had a vague musty damp smell even tho we had the windows open at all times and kept the doors ajar as requested. In the information the hotel is listed as being 250yds from the building well more like 500yds and what isn't said is just how steep the incline is up to the hotel. Altogether very disappointed

"Road trip"
phild38, 19 Juin 2017

Booked here for one night. . Hotel was lovely great location unfortunately for us the extra big bed ( two single beds ) was a massive let down. . So please don't get room 20 it was a bit of a sweat box. The a la carte dinner was exceptional but declined on the breakfast which was 30 quid. Bit overpriced !

"mini break"
Joe F, 13 Juin 2017

Spotlessly clean hotel. Breakfasts were very satisfactory, and they seemed happy to vary from the menu if you didn't fancy what was on offer. Staff helpful and pleasant. A lovely place to stay if wanting some peace and quiet.

"Porth veor manor "
timerowe, 09 Juin 2017

Thank you for another excellent stay at the Manor. It's my little escape for week each year. The food was excellent as usual . Also my favourite tables reserved in the restaurant. A note to Mr Smith, to add a special thank you to Trisha , and Louisa. And I must mention my favourite room always reserved for me. 10 out of 10 excellent. See you next year. Tim Rowe

"Wedding "
Ladybird002, 29 Mai 2017

Attended a friends wedding here so decided to stay at the hotel as well. The hotel is a nice size and also has apartments and a small outdoor swimming pool around the hotel. Each apartment has its own car parking space and then extra spaces for hotel guests. The rooms are ok, nice and clean and our one was a good size. The wedding was lovely and ran smoothly and the food was very nice. Breakfast the next day in the conservatory was lovely. The sun was shining and the choice of breakfast items was really good. The reception staff were really helpful. The hotel is in a lovely location within easy reach of the beach and countryside ! The rooms all had tea/coffee making facilities ( and biscuits) !!

"A wonderful hotel, better than expected"
Farhana R, 22 Mai 2017

We booked this hotel, a double room for a three night holiday, and I must say it was wonderful, the room was spotless and very spacious, the bed was massive and so comfortable, lovely pool view room we got, only downside was there was no elevator to get to the room, and it was quite a fleet of stairs to climb, but overall loved it. During our stay whenever we went out, we would look forward to coming back to the hotel. And all in all, we booked during a very good offer making it all the more amazing!

"Weekend Stay for friends wedding @ Lusty Glaze "
Elmo B, 20 Mai 2017

Decent sized rooms, basic but clean. Very good nights sleep. No mobile phone signal but very good free WiFi. Adequate parking, lovely sea views. Great location for walking to lusty glaze beach for a friend's wedding. 4pm check in and 10am check out seems a little bit tight these days but overall we had a really good stay. Excellent breakfast!

"A great find"
sailorsamCalstock, 17 Mai 2017

Friendly staff, clean and well placed to explore the beautiful coastline with a bus stop 5 minutes away for the Newquay to Padstow bus, great if you are doing any coast path walks. Our room had a lovely view over the beach. The breakfast was excellent. This was a half price break bought as a present to us from friends. I didn't have great expectations but was very pleasantly surprised and would definitely go again. There is a pub on the beach nearby doing good food that, although a bit pricey is also well worth a look especially in a nice evening.

"Enjoyable "
Sean P, 14 Mai 2017

Arrived on a Friday most welcoming people, hotel clean and inviting. Breakfast absolutely amazing. The two young members of staff Tegan and Holly I wish to extend a special thank you, you have looked after us above and beyond. Standards have only improved. Thank you all at this amazing place.

"Up market villa"
MartynDavenham, 11 Mai 2017

Friendly welcoming and helpful staff. Clean well presented villa with beach view. Major draw for us was the heated pool but it was closed due to chemical issues for our last three days which seriously detracted from our enjoyment. That aside no complaints.

"Great hotel, great service, good food"
RobbyB, 12 Avril 2017

We were greeted by our receptionist and this was a pleasant experience. Be warned if you didn't know that there is no lift, but luckily our room was on the first floor. And our room was comfortable with a lovely firm bed. Tea, coffee and biscuits await you. Breakfast was included on our deal and this was mightily good. I went for the Cornish Full Breakfast and they are happy to have you add an extra egg if you like! We also had dinner here and this was good; my wife had a fish affair which she loved! I had a lamb shank which wasn't quite fall off the bone. All in all, a great experience and we felt well looked after. My wife has a wheat and sugar intolerance and the hotel always had options for her.

"Lovely stay"
michelle m, 10 Avril 2017

We were given this stay as a present. Lovely hotel, very welcoming and easy to find. Room was really spacious and was well thought out. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided along with a hairdryer which is useful. Loads of storage cupboards. Bathroom was really big with a lovely walk in shower that was really hot. Loved the cupboard under the sink as many hotels do not provide anywhere to store your toiletries when you are away. Only criticism was that the bed was very soft and you could hear the noise from the room above. Breakfast was lovely in a conservatory that looked out to Porth beach. Location is great with a 20 min walk into Newquay or couple of minutes to Porth beach.

"Four day coach trip"
Shirley W, 07 Avril 2017

We had been transferred to this hotel owing to a mix up over bookings and found it extremely pleasant. The food was excellent and the staff attentive and friendly. Would recommend it to anyone with no mobility problems. Sadly there was no lift and a lot of quite steep stairs.

"Still our favourite hotel"
Captainmoosehead, 02 Avril 2017

We have been coming to this hotel for about 10 years now and in all that time have never found any fault with it. Food is brilliant rooms are lovely and spotlessly clean and all the staff are excellent. Looking forward to next year!

"One Night Business Trip Stay"
Lloyd889, 30 Mars 2017

I stayed here one night and the room was good. Except the room above had squeaky floorboards. The food at night was 1st Class and couldn't fault it. The bar is spacious and comfortable. I did not have breakfast so cannot comment but overhaul a nice place to stay with some sea view.

"Very enjoyable midweek break"
anonK7060AR, 11 Novembre 2016

First impressions of the hotel as we drove up to the door were that it is a lovely looking building. Perched up quite high in Porth it looks very impressive with the conservatory. Our check in was very welcoming. Our room with Seaview (28) was big, contained everything we needed, lovely bathroom, settee in front of large TV. The whole hotel is very tastefully furnished, lovely prints and paintings everywhere showing the history of the area, immaculately clean and beautifully and comfortably furnished. We ate in the restaurant the first night and the 3 course a la carte menu was so good that we booked in for the next night too even though we had planned to try somewhere else. Must be a very good chef, quality, choice and presentation of the meals were excellent. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Luisa a lovely Romanian woman, very professional as well as the above adjectives! Bed was very comfy though didn't sleep too good the first night because of a storm, made up for it on the second night! Breakfasts also excellent. I honestly can't think of anything to fault with this hotel and we vwill definitely return.

"Occasion "
dave2616, 09 Novembre 2016

We stayed as wedding guests and were pleasantly surprised at the position to the beach and the overall facilities available. We would like to thank all of the staff including the back room ones we did not see for the friendliness and helpfulness shown. In particular we were amazed at the quality of the food including a very efficient service to the 70 guests siting down for the wedding dinner. Many thanks for making it a weekend to remember.

"Short stay"
Tigaroodit, 01 Novembre 2016

My niece and I spent 2 nights at this hotel and we were both very pleased with the rooms we were allocated. They were very clean, also the bathrooms, and nicely furnished. We had breakfast in the restaurant on 2 mornings and there was a wide choice of food. The staff were friendly and helpful and we had a key to the front door as we were out quite late on the Friday night. The grounds were very attractive and with the beach just minutes away, it would have been perfect for families. We didn't get to try the restaurant in the evenings or the bar. The only drawback seemed to be the lack of signal for mobile phones and wi-fi. I would quite happily return.

"minibreak in Cornwall"
romer54, 01 Novembre 2016

Lovely quiet Hotel easy to reach North Cornwall destinations. Not in Newquay but about a mile away. Outdoor pool and villas are available. Nice garden aspect to dining room and a putting green to enjoy on a nice day. Great value for our short stay.

"Short break"
4real217, 24 Octobre 2016

We came here for a long weekend and a was very pleased with the two bedroom pool view apartment we had. We checked in, in the main hotel and they gave us direction to the apartment and where we could park. When we walked into the apartment it was clean modern and very comfortable. Open plan kitchen, lounge and dinning upstairs with a view of the pool, downstairs two bedrooms master bedroom ensuite beds comfy. Walking distance to the shops and the beach. Newquay was just around the corner.

"Very friendly, Great for holidays just not suited for the business traveller"
theresaheadinit, 24 Octobre 2016

1) Arrival was straightforward using the Sat Nav (TOM TOM) instructions. 2) On arrival at the hotel the check in staff were extremely pleasant and friendly and helped me on numerous occasions during my stay, a real credit to the hotel. 3) All area's including the bedrooms were always well kept, tidy and clean. 4) My room (No 19) was clean and well maintained (See the photos). 5) There is a large free car park which surrounds the hotel 6) The free wifi didn't really work in my room, so to send work e-mails, I needed to stand in the corridor. 7) Breakfast is an additional fee which is cheaper if booked in advance. 8) As a business guest, I needed to leave early, (7.30am) breakfast however only starts at 8.00am. So even though I had paid for it I never actually received any. On leaving the hotel I was informed by Mr Jamie R (The General Manager) that you can in advance book a take away breakfast. 9) My business partner who did stay after 8 am said that the quality of the breakfast was average for a Best Western, in that he ordered kippers and poached eggs and received just one ½ a kipper and a single poached egg rather than the normal whole kipper and a pair of poached eggs ( See the photo) 10) I used the evening meal service (Beaucliffes restaurant) which opens from 5:30 PM -8PM. The food was good but higher priced than I had expected, starters are £5-7, Mains £16-23, puddings £7 so with a glass of wine that's about £35 a head. There is an early bird special with a starter and a main starting from £17 (5:30 to 7:00pm) But only finishing work at 6 meant that this wasn't an option. Kids meals are £7 and are only available from 5.30-7.30, there are also Kids eat free offers .This “Kids Eat Free” offer is valid 23 July to 04 Sept and 23 to 31 October 2016. So not so great if your half term dates are later than this for instance in Lincolnshire or Manchester. 11) There is a local pub nearby on the beach called the Mermaid Inn that does excellent local seafood dishes at about £10 a main 12) Location, the hotel is located outside of Newquay about a mile or more but it is next to Porth Beach ( see the photo from the room) 13) On leaving at 7.15am I could not checkout as checkout open about the same time as breakfast. On returning home Mr Jamie R informed me that an express check out service is available for all guests with a requirement to leave early. The form for express check out is provided in the guest information folder or from reception on request. ( I didn't see the form in the pack or knew that one could be requested as I thought that 7:15 wasn't that early.) In summary the hotel scores 7/10 for a good Best Western that just needs some better business considerations to match others in the brand.

"A generally enjoyable stay"
AlanD675, 21 Octobre 2016

A good location close to the beach and coastal walks. There are two limited car parking areas, with the hotel located at the top of a fairly steep hill so if the top car park is full, there is some walking involved. There is however a no parking area in the top car park where guests can be dropped off, and luggage can be unloaded/packed if necessary before parking elsewhere. The Reception is close to the entrance and the staff were welcoming and helpful. We were located on the 2nd floor and unfortunately given the historic nature of the building, there are no lifts. The stairs are steep but assistance is available with your luggage on request. We had a beach/seaview room which was good, clean and reasonably spacious, although with a very small TV. Free Wi-Fi was available. The soundproofing between rooms is very poor and we had one person who could snore for England on one side and a couple who were engaging in a scene from When Harry Met Sally on the other, the latter being more amusing. Notwithstanding the neighbouring sound effects, we still managed a decent night's sleep. Breakfasts were good and served to the table. We dined in the restaurant during our stay and while the food or service was not to the highest standards, it was satisfactory and the meals were tasty and plentiful. One comment is that the service in the restaurant could be more welcoming as there is an inconsistency. From a customer perspective, it is irritating to feel that you are an inconvenience and equally to leave the restaurant without a friendly word. The nearby bar was usually unstaffed but after standing for a short while, someone would appear and serve. Again, it was not welcoming so we only used this the once. Porth Veor Manor is in a good location and notwithstanding the few irritations, we would consider staying again at some point in the future.

"Wedding"
Jenny H, 19 Octobre 2016

We had a room for wedding of our friend's daughter. We had a lovely room nothing was too much trouble. The wedding was on of the most friendly we have been to, helped by the excellent hotel staff especially the gentleman who organised everything. The food was good . I realise the meal was done by outside caterers but the breakfast we had was excellent . A very enjoyable time alltogether

"Two day get away."
Sam M, 18 Octobre 2016

Booked into the hotel for a short break to celebrate our respective birthdays in newquay. The staff were helpful. The rooms very clean and comfy. Our double bed was actually two singles pushed together. This didn't bother us but might some couple's. The bed was extremely firm too, absolutely no give, be warned ! Breakfast was very good though, served with a nice filtered coffee. Yes we would stay again.

"Very good "
dale_archer, 17 Octobre 2016

Stayed here for 2 nights on business Quick easy check in. Free wifi. Good fresh breakfast available. Didn't use the restaurant though Beer prices quite high! Good clean comfy room. Tea & coffee facilities. Black mould in the shower grout that really needs addressing. All in all a pleasant stay

"The Menu"
Heatherfamily, 16 Octobre 2016

I have only given average for the hotel as we stayed 4 nights and it was the same menu and specials every night when i asked a member of staff about it we were told they only change the menu every 3/6 months this will put us off staying any longer then 1/2 nights again

"Weekend break "
Suzanne B, 16 Octobre 2016

Very friendly comfortable hotel. Lovely sea view room good size lots of draw & wardrobe space. Good breakfast & evening meal great service & portion size. Would recommend for weekend break Parking great & good location to travel around

"Excellent hotel"
Tony W, 15 Octobre 2016

Booked a three night stay at this hotel but was a little nervous as I read some negative reviews, happy to say the manager/ staff and room were top class and the breakfast was very good with lots of cereals / fruits and bread, the cooked breakfast was very good quality and fresh, will be going back.

"Disappointing meal in God's waiting room"
Sue Phil M, 11 Octobre 2016

We visited Porth Veor Manor Hotel for an evening meal as pert of a gourmet breaks package whilst staying in nearby Watergate bay, the whole meal lacked any attention to detail right from the wine being left unpoured on the table with no cloth around the ice bucket to prevent it dripping as I poured it myself. The starter was satisfactory, we both had crab saled which said it came with lemon mayonnaise, I expected this to be served on the side when I asked the waitress she said it was mixed in to the crab, my husband main course was fine, I ordered the steak which came with wilted spinach and baby vegetables, the chef clearly thinks that putting spinach leaves under a hot steak will do this job for him! We didn't bother with dessert as my husband's glass had been empty for some time by then, and we were both growing frustrated with the lack off service from the staff, we asked for the bill which was incorrect and then asked to see the manager, we were told there wasn't one on duty, the waitress said the mistake on the bill was not her fault, it was rectified and we left and ate dessert elsewhere. Best Western you need to train the staff in customer service in this hotel.Such a shame it was like a visit to an old peoples home with no staff on reception or in the bar.

"Great Hotel"
ChristineL_11, 09 Octobre 2016

We spent a great couple of days here ,nothing was to much trouble for the excellent staff, the food was first class and served with a smile, the location of the hotel is within walking distance of a lovely beach. We will be back.

"Lee claydon"
Lee C, 03 Octobre 2016

Booked a one night stay in a Hotel, reason to book a Hotel and not a b&b was so when I arrived after a long day I could relax and have and evening meal. How wrong was I !! As I checked in I was told restaurant was fully booked so had to drive and find some where to eat. After getting back to Hotel at 8 o clock restaurant had three couples in restaurant.

"Excellent "
timerowe, 01 Octobre 2016

I have to this is the 27th year that I have spent holidays at this hotel I have always found the staff very friendly. The meals in the restaurant are excellent It is a real home from home Top marks. Great views fro the conservatory. A very pleasant setting. Looking forward to return stay June 2017

"Lovely place"
bunchofwhiteroses, 24 Septembre 2016

Our room was lovely. Clean and spacious. Staff are great - breakfast was plenty - cooked to perfection - the dining area is bright and they use crisp white tablecloths which will always get my vote. The heated outdoor pool was lush. We are local to Newquay and stayed over as a treat - we were not disappointed. The only criticism - well its an observation not a criticism really - but the furniture in the bar/conservatory area is outdated - the old wicker type - but saying that we had a lovely time - would certainly recommend.

"POOR CHOICE FOR BUSINESS - POORLY TRAINED STAFF"
study79, 20 Septembre 2016

I stayed at the hotel, along with 5 colleagues, for 5 nights in mid September 2016. Although pleasantly situated and ideal for holidays the rooms were not set up for any business activity and only had a small dressing table. On a positive note, the internet speed was good and the restaurant food very pleasant. Problems however included the fact that breakfast didn't start until 0800 and the hotel bar was closed at 2225 one night despite the staff sitting in it drinking. When questioned that we were residents, we were informed that we could have a drink but we would have to take them outside or to our rooms. The worst experience by far was the attitude of most of the staff who couldn't raise a smile throughout the whole 5 days and made you feel that you weren't at all welcome. Some almost tutted if you asked for something specific at breakfast; they obviously didn't want to be there.

"Excellent, top marks !"
sherpashep, 16 Septembre 2016

A welcoming comfortable hotel with outstanding staff, nothing too much trouble for them, rooms comfortable and spacious, during our stay our room got flooded by an absolute downpour of biblical proportions, and upon informing the duty manager, withing five minutes the maintenance man came and hoovered all the water up from the carpet cheerfully and efficiently. The food is absolutely amazing in the very pleasant dining room, good choices, perfectly cooked. Definitely will return to this hotel .

"Porth Veor Manor Hotel, thanks for your support"
Jims_Journey, 14 Septembre 2016

This summer I walked the entire South West Coast Path to raise money for FORCE and Over and Above, two South West charities that support cancer patients and their families. Porth Veor Manor Hotel very kindly agreed to be my Accommodation Partner and Gold Sponsor in Porth. On arrival I was struck by the attractive stone building, spacious interior, sizeable grounds and nice views towards the beach. I stayed in one of the biggest bedrooms I saw during the whole trip, which was a bonus with all the kit I had. The double bed was large and comfortable, the en-suite bathroom was impressive and there were good views towards the beach and countryside. The receptionists were very friendly and helpful, assisting me with their local knowledge. When walking for miles and days on end, it's always a treat to have your clothes washed. The hotel provides a washing service for only £10, and my clothes were back with me within 90 minutes. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and I had a very nice, well-presented full Cornish which set me up nicely for the walk to Perranporth. Thanks once again, Jamie and all the staff, for your amazing support of my charity expedition. If you search for “Jim's Journey” on Facebook, you can see lots of photos of the views around Porth, Newquay and elsewhere along the South West Coast Path.

"Beautiful"
Sibusiso N, 04 Septembre 2016

This is the second time that we've been here and it's become a firm favourite. The accommodation is more than comfortable. The beach 2 minute walk away and the place has this fantastic holiday vibe. Would definitely recommend to others.

"Fab Sunday Roast"
Pixiedolphin67, 29 Août 2016

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast here, 2 courses for £10, homecooked food and the gravy was the best we'd ever had!! Great service, the waitress was lovely and so helpful, great surroundings. We are going back soon with friends.

"AVOID AT ALL COSTS - THE WORST HOTEL WE HAVE EVER STAYED IN!!"
Chris M, 28 Août 2016

My partner and I booked a double room for 6 nights at this 'hotel' if you can even call it that. We were given room 17, which was meant to be a double room.... When we entered the room the bed definitely wasn't double and there was barely enough room to swing a cat in there. Every nights sleep was uncomfortable as it got so hot in there and the bed was so small and uncomfortable that it partly ruined our holiday. When I found out that other 'double rooms' in the hotel (Room 21 for example), where guests were paying the same rate as I was, I was intrigued to have a look. To my amazement other rooms where guests were paying the same price as I were almost double in size, including the double beds!!! When i spoke to STEVE the 'manager' about this, he was completely unsympathetic, non-understanding and did nothing but talk over me. Steve, a word of wisdom for you buddy and the first rule of business - Look after your customers before someone else does. The other staff members were equally cold and we simply didn't get any service at all in the hotel. I think a change of management may be needed. One night when we asked to change rooms as I simply wasn't getting any sleep they said they had Room 21 available for one night only, but that we would need to pay again to change rooms for one night even though we had already payed for the entire stay....UNBELIEVABLE. Other than the room dissatisfaction and poor service, the breakfast was also sub par. The pool outside was nice and warm, but tiny and full of screaming kids all day and into the evening, which we could hear nice and clearly from our shoebox room, number 17. The only saving grace about this hotel is the location as it was near the main town, St Ives, Padstow & other beaches (the one near the hotel isn't worth seeing). Overall, very disappointing & the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Please avoid at all costs! I am now going to complain directly to Best Western. If it's anything like the customer service from the hotel, wish me a lot of luck!

"Great stay at porth veor villas"
Rachcarl, 27 Août 2016

"Great location with views across Porth Beach."
Duncan A, 24 Août 2016

Great location, just a short walk down the hill to Porth Beach. On-site parking. Great sea and beach views if you get a good room. My only reason for not giving 4 stars was that my room was a bit on the smaller side (maybe because it was a single occupancy double). Oh, ignore where the sat-nav takes you on the postcode, if coming from the Newquay end, continue down the road, past where it tells you to turn right into a residental cul-de-sac, they are at the bottom of the first part of the hill on the left hand side, where the road bends to the right.

"Summer holiday "
Andrew T, 20 Août 2016

Booked into Porth Veor on our 3rd visit now Stayed in the 3 bed villa for 11 nights. Accommodation spotless We were well looked after by Jamie the manager. "Things I wish I'd known before booking the Studio at Porth Veor Manor ..."
Ippians413, 19 Août 2016

It's closer to the main road that the beach It's as close to the bins as the main road The bins are emptied early The laminate floor resembles a choppy sea The bed is impossibly uncomfortable If the bed doesn't keep you awake the noise outside will as there is inadequate insulation The shower room (and especially the shower cubicle) is impossibly small Neither the TV nor the Freesat remotes work Oh ... Did I mention that it was clearly built as a garage ...

"Lovely big rooms and amazing restaurant"
93Karen_64, 15 Août 2016

Close to Porth beach beautiful location , staff friendly nothing to much trouble. Are room was roomy with a fabulous bathroom and great view of the beach.Short stroll into Newquay were you can find plenty of bars and restaurants for any budget , there are also some really lovely boutique shops which you dont see on the high street .

"After staying at the Passage hotel this was not good"
workdayblues58, 07 Août 2016

We had room 12 on second floor no lift so it's a struggle fit you are older. The bathroom really small the room was small. Had kettle ,hairdryer shampoo etc. We could just about See the sea. Gardens were nice and reasonable outside pool. Breakfast was ok. Dinner prices very expensive. The staff seemed to do everything from reception, bar and serve food there was not enough staff. It took us 3times to get extra pillow. Considering the staff were very nice. Parking was a nightmare.

"my stay at porth veor manor"
Alan M, 06 Août 2016

the staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times, the food and service was excellent, the accomodation was excellent would reccomend. The views were very good not far to walk to the beach and the mermaid pub which is situated near the beach and does food, there is a tesco with cashpoint within walking distance.

"Porth Veor Manor Hotel turned out to be a good choice"
JBG1, 27 Juillet 2016

We stayed for 3 nights in room 24 which had a sea and garden view. A very comfortable and homely room with plenty of light. Reception were very welcoming and all the staff were friendly throughout our stay. This hotel is in a superb location and only a ten minute walk from Porth beach which is lovely. Plenty of headland walks from this beach. You are also able to walk right to the old Newquay harbour in the opposite direction on a designated path. Quite an easy level walk especially for those less abled. The full English breakfasts were superb as were the normal breakfast offerings cereals, fruit etc. Nice to have a toaster which toasted bread quickly not like many hotels today. Had two evening meals in the Beaucliffs restaurant which we enjoyed. Mostly positives but a couple of negatives as well. Bedroom window blind not working neither was the air con. Also no Pinot Grigio wine available in the bar for pre dinner drinks throughout our stay. The acid test of course is would we return and the answer is definitely yes. Best Western is a good hotel chain which we use often as club card holders.

"Enjoyable stay"
JP610308, 17 Juillet 2016

Stayed here recently for 5 nights in the 3 bed 3 bath villa. Spacious, clean and comfortable with some nice private outdoor areas. Lovely little pool and short walk to a wonderful beach. A couple of small irritations; on arrival, late due to bad weather and traffic, our keys were not in the security box as instructed and I spent 10 mins in the rain trying to get a signal to phone someone to open up. Also, someone had clearly had a cup of tea and biscuits recently in the accommodation as all the bins had been emptied but biscuit wrappers, tea bags and little milk cartons were in the bin and looked fresh! The fridge never really worked properly all the time we were there. Despite this we all enjoyed our stay and would come again.

"What a gem of a hotel!"
JaeDee15, 04 Juillet 2016

Very helpful and professional staff. Clean and tidy rooms. Just on the edge of Newquay (about a mile, within walking distance). Loved it, shame it was only a short stay though. Would definitely recommend.

"Long weekend"
Ben L, 04 Juillet 2016

A well located spot from both airport and centre of town. Everything is easily walkable. Stayed in one of the cottages and they are very good albeit, somewhat dated. Clean rooms and incredibly spacious. Excellent sized lounge and bedrooms (one en suite) and good amenities throughout. Pool is small but heated and with rooms all round, it's a sociable spot. Only had breakfast and it was very reasonable. Parking spot also allocated to each cottage.

"Great stay! "
Boomerang2010, 02 Juillet 2016

Stayed for one week self catering with a Groupon offer which was almost half the cost of the normal price so a great saving. We were a family staying in one of the villas by the heated pool. The villa is spacious with 2 bathrooms and very clean with everything you need. The beach is located just a 5 minute walk away. We did not eat out in the hotel for breakfast or Dinner so cannot comment on the quality of this. You do get a discount as a guest in the villas, however we still found these were a little on the expensive side, especially with a young family to feed. Full English breakfast is £12.00 before the discount is applied. Located centrally in Cornwall it is easy to reach many places within 30-40 minutes by car. We would definitely stay again in the future.

"Fabulous location"
kas705, 30 Juin 2016

This hotel stands on a hill overlooking the bay and has wonderful views. The room was large and comfortable, and the only thing I found disappointing was the breakfast. Although it was not a serve yourself buffet I suspect it was all pre cooked and waiting in the kitchen as the fried eggs were not that great. It would also have been helpful if the waitress had told us there was a do it yourself toast machine round the corner as we hadn't spotted it and waited ages for toast to arrive! Nevertheless the location tips the balance and I would happily stay there again.

"Superb Villas adjacent Hotel Ideal For Families / Couples"
John H, 27 Juin 2016

Spent a week here with out 20 year old daughter and boyfriend. Built about 10 years ago ,10 split level apartment villas as part of hotel, similar to some US places. Very comfy, well planned with 2 bedrooms on lower floor, 2 bathrooms, dining / living on first floor. Well appointed, well decorated , quality furniture and fittings. Heated pool very warm. Dined at the hotel one night, excellent meal, nice bar and conservatory. Newquay Town centre walkable via the headland , just over a mile. Well located too. Would stay again.

"Very enjoyable break"
Mark B, 12 Juin 2016

Very nice hotel in a great location with views overlooking the beach from the restaurant and some rooms. The restaurant is very good, we enjoyed the dinners and breakfasts, and the hotel staff were excellent.

"Relax is the key word here"
Ron B, 12 Juin 2016

Porth Manor hotel, overlooks the beautiful Porth bay. It oozes holiday perfection. No lift so that could be a problem, but this is a lovely hotel. A ten minute walk takes you the bay. Uphill going back but the walk is well worth it. The walk can be extended to make it to Porth Island. The bus route passes the hotel on its way to Padstein (actually Padstow0 where Rick Stein has his restaurants. Padsstow is a must see place.

"Great location, great setup"
Cuomo-UK, 04 Juin 2016

We stayed in one of the apartments so can't comment much on the hotel except for one great meal - good food with a fantastic view. The set up with the pool surrounded by places to sit was ideal for what we wanted.

"Better beds, this would be 4 rating"
Smileydeb, 02 Juin 2016

We spent one night here. The hotel has a nice position and is clean and welcoming. We had intended to eat dinner but there was some confusion over booking in. The pool is a bonus, especially for families. Sitting around it was very pleasant; a little sun trap. My only real negative is the beds. They were soooo hard - and I like a firm bed.

"Great views"
Steve B, 18 Mai 2016

Pleasantly surprised by this Hotel. The sun was out when I arrived. The views from the veranda are stunning. Checking in was easy and quick. Parking was fine. The staff seemed really helpful (albeit wasn't very busy). Didn't eat in the restaurant though the menu looked fine. Room was great and very comfortable and clean. Facilities were excellent even though I had no time to use them. Will definitely come again for business trips.

"Return visit"
Andrew W, 09 Mai 2016

Having stayed in the villas last year and being a Best Western member, we decided to stay in the main hotel this time, just for the one night. We arrived early and was allowed to leave our car in the car park. The receptionist agreed as members, we could be in line for a free upgrade. Quite the reverse. When we booked in later, we were allowcated a small room on the second floor. The room was functional, well decorated but very small and not what we are used to with Best Western. We suggest you avoid a second floor room. Not good, unfortunately!

"Food & car parking"
shaunwarren1, 01 Mai 2016

Food was good but not much of a choice , we felt that some selections of snacks such as sandwiches or panni's would be a nice addition as not all people would like a heavy meal at the end of the day . Parking was also a issues as we came back from a day out & struggled to find a parking space , this would be a major issue when the hotel is fully booked

"Value for money..."
Pat W, 01 Mai 2016

This was our second visit here and again, we were not disappointed. The hotel is on the outskirts of Newquay at Porth, above the beach. It is small, but has self-catering as well as rooms with breakfast and a very good restaurant. We ate there on our first evening and the food is excellent. Breakfast has everything you could want - and more! Outside is a small swimming pool and plenty of space for enjoying the sun, if you're lucky enough to get any! My advice is to go and enjoy this lovely little hotel - and it's very reasonable.

"Very nice hotel good location"
A57nn, 28 Avril 2016

Really nice hotel in old Manor House great location nice walk down to the beach. Parking good. Room a nice size, bathroom huge with a really good shower. Breakfast tasty and plenty, apart from running out of wholemeal bread. Staff helpful

"Not the " best" western "
Simon B, 23 Avril 2016

Despite the excellent position and views we will not be returning. Reception staff were a little vague and breakfast had better presentation than taste. Despite the fact that the place only had three couples order taking was rushed but service was slow.

"Very helpful staff, lovely location."
L M, 23 Avril 2016

We stayed here for one night with a coach party of about 20 people. The hotel was clean and comfortable, in a lovely position overlooking the beach and the staff were very helpful indeed. We had an early morning start and the staff went out of their way to provide us with a substantial take-away breakfast and to make sure our needs were catered for. A well managed, very friendly hotel.

"Stayed at Beach House apartment for 3 night stay"
Ann D, 20 Avril 2016

Was so surprised with the accommodation on the seafront, was well equipped, clean and of good quality everything was perfect even the weather. Thank you for a wonderful stay and would highly recommend to all my family and friends such a well appointed apartment.

"Nice summer retreat"
ohdear66, 17 Avril 2016

We stayed in the large villas around the pool. Very comfortable beds and kids loved the pool especially as it was heated. We enjoyed many trips to Newquay and surrounding areas easily and supermarkets within 10 minute drive.

"Great 3 star hotel"
Wiltshire3, 16 Avril 2016

Have not stayed much in England recently as we normally go abroad. We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel which we booked on our Tesco's vouchers for 3 nights. We had a standard room (forgot this means 4 foot 6 bed!) as a Superior was not available for all the nights of our stay. The hotel is very clean and recently decorated with smart tiles. It is not designer styling but clean and comfortable. Airy bar and restaurant area. Breakfast was excellent with polite and friendly staff. The position is quiet and has good views at the front but even at the back the views are over Porth with an open aspect. There are also apartments and a small outdoor swimming pool which is heated from April and people were using it. A great choice for touring Cornwall as it is quiet to return to at night.

"Rather Tired Hotel"
gm271, 15 Avril 2016

Although the room was clean and tidy the common areas of the hotel were rather tired. Quite a few problems with the room fitments (shower head fell off, leaky windows etc) and very poor beds. Very limited parking. Pool was okay but to ally enclosed by apartments. Overall would not recommend.

"Groupon Break"
agatley2016, 12 Avril 2016

Just returned from a short break courtesy of Groupon. This is a great hotel, fantastic location run by polite and friendly staff. The room (21) was clean and tidy and very comfortable. We had dinner each evening in the onsite restaurant and the food was of a very high standard. Steak one night, which was cooked as requested and absolutely sublime. Also has Seabass which was again excellent. Breakfast on each morning was ample, the cooked option was plentiful. No complaints whatsoever on either count. The hotel was quiet and not many staff working but they looked after us and there were no issues with being served etc. Would definetly stay here again. We had a look at the apartments and they looked, very modern and comfortable.

"Warm Welcome At Porth Veor Manor"
mroberts9, 11 Avril 2016

Just returned from a short stay at the Veor Manor and would like to start by saying that this is a hidden gem in on the outskirts of Newquay, located a short walk from a small beach and within walking distance of the town centre, the hotel was fairly busy but was still quite and relaxing. The staff where all very polite and the hotel was clean and tidy throughout. The only slight issue we had was that the poached eggs at breakfast were overcooked but replaced when we pointed it out without a fuss.

"A Most Beautiful Place!"
Kerry P, 06 Avril 2016

An amazing and tranquil destination that left me in awe and hoping to visit again. I walked to the sea directly from the hotel, meandered around and was able to find light groceries very close by. I hope to return!

"Would not stay here again"
Vesta L, 29 Mars 2016

Firstly poor standards of cleanliness and not only in a room (we staid in 23) but in general in all hotel. High level of dust throughout the room; beddings, glasses, kettle dirty. Bathroom walls and floor need well deep cleaning. Outside the room I could easily spot cobwebs on lamp shades and windows. We have booked upgraded room with sea view which originally costs over £100 per night. Unfortunately room is very small size same as bathroom; and yes, there is a see view but window is so tiny and I would rather call it garden view than see. Not impressed with breakfast either. Continental breakfast lack of choice and full English breakfast not as expected. Check out time at 10am. No guaranteed parking space for non villa residents. Being in a room can easily hear people walking in a corridor. You must back in a hotel by 11pm otherwise will be required to take night keys and pay deposit for it. Also, mobile reception is terrible for O2, Vodafone and Three users. We could make calls only with Vodafone as the other two networks had no service at all.

"Comfortable and welcoming"
Steve W, 27 Mars 2016

Stayed for one night and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. I was passing through Newquay and usually stay at a local Premier Inn. There was a good deal available at this hotel so I decided to see what it was like. I was pleased to stay in a friendly and well appointed place. The room was large, warm and quiet, ideal for an overnight stay. I didn't eat there but the menu, although not extensive, seemed fine.

"Great value, great location."
Graham B, 25 Mars 2016

Stayed in superior sea-view room. Impressed by room and facilities within. The hotel was ideally located for porth beach and access to the coastal path. Approx 20 mins walk to Newquay town centre. Breakfast was adequate, although ran short on pastries.

"Delightful hotel in lovely setting."
GerryG8, 24 Mars 2016

We stayed here while vising family in Newquay. The hotel was warm and comfortably furnished with large fluffy white towels in a very modern luxurious en-suite shower room. The breakfast was tasty with locally sourced sausages bacon & hogs pudding. The only downside was the evening meals - I had the rack of lamb which should have had a "jus" but it came with a watery gravy instead - a shame the meat was tender and juicy but it just needed the jus. My husband had the stuffed chicken which didn't taste of much at all the best part was the chilli pearls.

"Disappointed"
RuthieCheshire_U_K, 21 Mars 2016

Just returned from a four night break and found a change since Best Western group has taken over. First time we have stayed in the hotel on a bead and breakfast basis, previously we stayed self catering in the apartments. Food was a little disappointing, very bland and a little over cooked, very unimaginative. One member of staff seemed totally disinterested. This hotel is in the most fantastic location I would return on a self catering basis.

"Disappointed stay"
RoBetteley, 20 Mars 2016

We have just returned from a four night stay at this hotel. The rooms are clean but a little dated and the mattress was a little lumpy (room 17). The breakfast was ok. Although would have been improved if scramble/poached eggs could have been served with toast. We had to make our own! The smoked salmon/scramble eggs again served also on its own, toast or a muffin would be nice and would look more appetizing. The smoked paddock I ordered was bland. I ordered tea which was quite weak. We were in the dining room each morning between 8:15 - 8:30 and on two mornings there was not enough Danish pastries to meet demand. The service was at times slow and one member of staff seemed disinterested and when serving our main courses did not remove our cereals dishes and empty fruit juice glasses. When we came in the hotel in the evening there was no one on reception around 8 o'clock and we had to go and find a member of staff for our room keys. On two occasions we have stayed in the apartments attached to the hotel and these were excellent. We were disappointed with our stay in the hotel.

"Mothers Day"
Lucyslack, 20 Mars 2016

When my Nan booked us in to Porth Veor Manor for mothers day I was really excited as it sounded like super posh food and with a beautiful view of Porth beach in Newquay. When we arrived I found it was as beautiful as I imagined but when I saw the sign Best Western, I immediately remembered being told Best Western's aren't very good. Yet when we walked in, the manor was beautiful, very intricate and old English, quite stunning. The view was lovely. We did have a short 20minute wait but it was well spent escaping in the view, catching up with distant family, and of course ordering in celebratory drinks at the bar. We then were shown to our table which also had a lovely view. I faced out to Porth, purposely to see the sea. We were given a choice off a printed set menu, we skipped starter, but I ordered the roast chicken for my main. There was only one price option for "main" printed and that was for £12 but "£6 child" was hand written scruffy at the bottom of the page like they'd made it up for forgetting the children.. so anyway my younger sisters and my vegetarian Aunty all ordered the children's, the rest including myself ordered the standard main because we were hungry. We then had a quite a long wait, of about 30-40minutes for our food to arrive. And when mine was placed in front of me, my first thought was pass me the veg bowls, and extras. The plate looked huge compared to the amount of food on it. When I realised there were no side dishes I thought, I could eat 2 of that! I had 1 reasonable size chicken breast sliced and resting. Crushed potatoes in a small pile (equal to the amount of a average size yoghurt pot turned upside down) and a spoonful of carrot and suede. Gravy drizzled all fancy and that was it!! Then my sisters plate came out, the plate was smaller but the portion size was the exact same... So not only did it not fill me up for £12. If I'd have ordered a child's for only £6 I'd have gotten the same size portion of food, just on a smaller plate! I was so angry. I actually enjoyed the food, but maybe because by the time, like an hour after we arrived, we got the food I was so hungry, anything would have done.. There was another table complaining about their food, for having to much uncooked & fatty areas on their pork and that it hadn't been cooked enough. The manager came out and accused them of drinking to much alcohol with their meal and spoiling the flavour. How rude. When paying it took 2 members of staff, with no people skills.. trying to figure out the till system, going back and forth the outside foyer. And then messing up the final bill we owed by adding an extra £12 meal. I will never revisit or recommend Porth Veor. Hope this has helped. I would like to leave it on a positive, for a couple of the waitresses who were very lovely to my son and were friendly and attentive to the table also, thank you.

"mothers day luncheon"
sueanddon644, 06 Mars 2016

Different familes made our party up for mothers day luncheon very nice place greetings were good, but when it came to the lunch the standard of food was appalling different starters some were bland the soup so much garlic in it. the main course was a disaster rock hard veg no accompaning gravies very bland tastes when we spoke to the manager he took aboard our comments then said we had been drinking is that not usual to have a drink with your lunch then said nobody else had complained we found out they had, we,ve never had those comments said to us before, he later decided to allow us 20% off the bill, the manager and kitchen ruined our luncheon.

"winter break"

My wife and I have just returned to our own lodge after spending January and February at this realy FABULOUS hotel our stay spent in one of the villas situated in the hotel grounds, the villa had a stunning view of the beach, coast road, and costal foot path, the accommodation was second to none, and the staff were truly amazind, nothing too much trouble and any quieries delt with within minuets,We would realy recommend this hotel to anybody who wishes to spend time exploring this part of cornwall, with newquay itself being only a couple of minuites away, thanks to all of the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

"Faultless"
babyminder, 28 Février 2016

We stayed in a 2 bedroomed apartment in this small holiday complex on the grounds of the Manor which had its own restaurant/bar. On our arrival we were met by very friendly lady who guided us to our superb home for the next 4 nights. Everything we could need was there, all the comforts of home and more. Luckily we had 3 sunny days in a dull February and were able to get out and about to Port Isaac and other coastal villages. Unfortunately I was taken ill during our stay and the reception were very helpful in organising medical consultation. Only sorry that we didn't get to visit the restaurant which had been our plan. We will certainly hope to return and/or visit another of their holiday venues doted around the south west. We did in fact stay in Watergate Bay at the Beachcomers last year and that was wonderful too, despite the weather on that occasion.

"September 2015, Wedding"
GazWelly, 26 Janvier 2016

My wife and I had our wedding reception at this venue last year. We had previously booked with another hotel but the service we received was appalling. We decided to change venue and we are very glad we did! - safe to say it wasn't the same experience here! Jamie and his team were excellent, Jamie was prompt with his replies and was always there for us if we had any questions or queries leading up to the big day. On the day itself the venue was decorated perfectly (once again Jamie helped with his ideas). His staff were well presented, very polite and accommodating to all our guests. The food was delightful and once again, the staff were always around to assist during the dinner itself. I could go on for hours praising this venue and staff, its safe to say they really did make our day special. I wouldn't hesitate for one second to recommend this hotel for any wedding reception. Once again, Thank you for making our day so perfect!

"Perfect location for the beach."
Bananasandwiches, 14 Janvier 2016

We booked last minute for a one night break over New Year and were pleasantly surprised by the lovely hotel, set just back from the beach at Porth, within walking distance of the coast path and local amenities. The room was spacious and comfortable and very light and airy, with a view of the beach from one of the windows. Breakfast was excellent served in the lovely conservatory which wraps itself around the hotel. As it was the depths of winter there wasn't anything going on outside but there is a small pool that is useable in the summer months and open grassed areas for sitting out when the weather is better.

"Apartment 3"
Angus D, 29 Décembre 2015

Lovely fully equipped apartment which was ideally placed for visiting family nearby. The property was very clean and warm on our arrival. We had everything required and would recommend this apartment.

"Could have been better."
paul a, 16 Décembre 2015

Upon arrival reception was closed and no one answered the doorbell. I had to ring for someone to drive to the hotel and check me in. The rooms require updating but are clean. During my stay I required changing rooms as my room smelt of sewage when I returned in the evening. The service in the restaurant was extremely slow and it was not busy.

"An ok hotel"
toriaw2015, 01 Décembre 2015

The staff were polite, the food quite good, the hotel neat, tidy and well decorated. Evening meals seemed a little overpriced but were quite nice. Ate in the conservatory side of the dining room which was a little on the cold side. Bed a little hard but this will suit some guests. Strange not to find a bar of soap in the en-suite.

"Fantastic food"
Stuart L, 22 Novembre 2015

We had a really nice meal and were very impressed with the style and quality of dishes served, with fantastic views. Staff were very good and attentive. We will return again as recommend to anyone in the area, restaurant is open to all and has a dress code.

"Porth Beach House - lovely apartment"
C.Weeks, 18 Novembre 2015

My husband and I spent a long weekend in one of the apartments at the Porth Beach House. It was a lovely apartment on the top floor overlooking the beach. All the rooms were attractively finished and the kitchen was well equipped with just about anything you may need, including a washing machine and dishwasher, which would be useful for longer stays. Check in was at the main hotel, just a short way up the road and staff there were always friendly and helpful. Although there was a wireless modem in the apartment it didn't appear to be connected up. This would have been helpful as the area is a mobile blackspot with no signal and this would be a big plus to help people plan their break. Hopefully it is something that can be fixed and may be available in future. But it didn't detract from the enjoyment of our break and we would love to stay here again.

"Loved our stay"
dziubek1983, 17 Novembre 2015

We went to Porth Veor Manor for three day break in the summer and we absolutely loved it. It's a nice hotel situated just by the bay in the lovely part of Newquay. Nearby are good places to eat out and hotel restaurant itself was really good. We loved our breakfast and dinner that we had one one was nice too. It was so good that we were thinking of dining in on the other night too, but decided that we can't not venture out lol The staff were really friendly and would go an extra mile to make you happy. The hotel has its own outdoor heated pool which is great for English weather as the water doesn't heat up quick enough even if it's nice weather. It kind of made me feel like we were somewhere in sunny Spain. We loved our stay so much that we wanted to book additional nights, but unfortunately the hotel was fully booked. And there's no surprises there! Would definitely recommend the place!

"Porth Beachhouse apartments"
BLK82, 15 Novembre 2015

Booked a last minute break here and we were thoroughly surprised by the quality and location of the apartment. Fully equipped with everything we needed it really added to being in Cornwall again. Check in was at the hotel about 200yds away...and I must back up another reviewer about not being advised about the £100 deposit. The only confirmation received was through booking.com and special requests made through the booking.com website were not replied to. (Could be booking.com fault). That said check in was excellent, the lady was polite and completed check in with ease. Each apartment has allocated parking with is invaluable in Cornwall. I would highly recommend this accommodation and also would highly recommend visiting Cornwall out of season...It is quieter, more relaxed and the views are even more spectacular. Will definitely look to book here again next year. Thank you.

"Porth Beach house apartments"
Jako47, 09 Novembre 2015

Fantastic accommodation, very clean and only a road to cross to the beach. The kitchen has washing machine/dryer, dishwasher and well stocked cupboards of crockery and utensils. Also provided for your initial arrival with coffee sachets, tea, biscuits and milk. The only down side was the £100 deposit required when we arrived, that we were not informed of when booking, otherwise it would have been a 5 star review.

"Great 5 day break"
Rosemary G, 24 Octobre 2015

Just stayed at Porth Veor Manor Hotel, nice spot overlooking the bay at Porth near Newquay. Very pleasant hotel with great staff, all very friendly and welcoming offering great service they are a credit to the hotel. Has a good choice of food which is well cooked and presented, some of the best we have had. Once again enjoyed our stay at a Best Western Hotel. We hope to visit again in the future.

"Belated birthday "
dances123, 13 Octobre 2015

Had a lovely stay here, rooms are immaculate food good, staff are welcoming, stunning views from bedroom window. Beach just down the hill. Depending on your fitness a walk into town. We chose not to drive and uses taxi's which were reasonable. Would come again.

"Four day break"
Andrew W, 04 Octobre 2015

We stayed in one of the appartments in the grounds and next to the hotel. Excellent standard of furnishings and cleanliness. As we had an elderley relative with us, we stayed in one of the appartments which were all on one floor with the allocated car parking space right outside the door. Very convenient. We didn't eat in the restaurant or swim in the outdoor heated pool but other guests were impressed with both. Try it out!

"Would definitely come back."
Andy R, 28 Septembre 2015

Please read if you are planning to stay here. My wife and I recently stayed at the Porth veor manor and had a really nice stay, although I did try to cancel. I foolishly booked through a popular on line Web site specialising in late rooms, and as I later learned inflated prices (ring the hotel and obtain a price first). The reason I tried to cancel was due to the pictures on the Web site, I was worried I'd booked us into a saga break with bedding and decor to match. On checking into the hotel (2 hours early) I was given our room keys. The room had a beautiful view over Porth beach and a comfortable bed with crisp white sheets. The only negative point for the room was that the curtains hung away from the wall and let the light in. The breakfast was really good but I was a little disappointed that you are limited to 6 items for the English breakfast ( I don't do continental), but saying that I didn't leave the table hungry. I know you're supposed to do your homework but If I'd seen some of the pictures and read some of the reviews beforehand I wouldn't have booked, but we had a great stay, we were greeted by pleasant and helpful staff and we both said we would definitely stay again. Just try and get the Web site pictures updated, and It would be great if checkout was a little later.

"Lovely views"
Sandra B, 27 Septembre 2015

Had lovely stay en route to Lands End to fly to Scilly Isles.I would stay again as the hotel was lovely and had nice pool and beautiful view from bedroom . The beach nearby was lovely and I would come back with my granddaughter if possible. Very nice well appointed hotel .I was very pleasantly surprised.

"Superb hotel in every way!"
Paul H, 25 Septembre 2015

I stayed at the Porth Veor Manor Hotel as part of a golfing tour from South Wales and have to say that I was totally impressed in every way..... not often I can say that! The staff were so friendly from registration to departure - the decor of the hotel excellent (air conditioning in the bedroom and proper opening double glazed windows). And while on about the bedroom, it was spacious, the bed comfortable and the shower powerful and hot (hugely important to me!!). We dined in on all three evenings of our stay - eating before 7pm gave us the £14 for two courses menu - the choice for me was pretty easy - moules marinière followed by fish and chips (alright, so one evening I had the chicken and couscous). Absolutely beautiful. Now breakfast set us up for the day - a tradionaltional English with all the trimmings. Finally, the bar (an important part of any golf tour!). Well stocked and at reasonable prices. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. A truly great experience.

"Two night Winter stay"
Mark Andrew C, 24 Septembre 2015

This was our first visit to Porth Veor Manor Hotel, we selected this location for what we hoped was a nice quiet location, and we were not disappointed. Set in an elevated position overlooking Porth Beach, we opted for a room with a "sea view" which even in February was a delight to look out upon. The room was a good size, well appointed, bright and warm, and a very comfortable bed. A good sized bathroom, with shower over bath, very clean. There is free Wi-Fi available which can be a little hit and miss depending where you are in the building (although there was a little confusion over how to access it initially, along with not being able to use the T.V, but a visit from a very helpful member of staff soon rectified both issues, and to be fair it was early in the season so I suspect it was just a couple of 'wrinkles' to be 'ironed out') The restaurant is very pleasant, part of which is in a conservatory which wraps around one side of the hotel and offers lovely views, which we admired whilst enjoying excellent quality breakfast each morning of our stay. This was a rather hectic stay for us (visiting relatives and trying to get some sightseeing in) but we decided we would definately return at some point in the Summer. All the members of staff were attentive and very pleasant, all in all a very enjoyable experience.
