Resumen de la reserva
Our reservation details were carried out perfectly. The staff was very helpful. The facility was lovely as was our room. An excellent stay. We required an ADA room. Everything was as it should be. We will return the next time we go north. Very nice facility.
There is only a few choices , to stay on Riverfront and Best western is a better choice. It's on the River , they have balcony rooms facing the river. They have complementary coffee and breakfast to take , they have a pool, exercise room and convention center, restaurants close by and on River , which is really nice. No restaurant or bar, but others close by, rooms are ok, I give them a 2, need new carpet or no carpet and a remodel, but again you have 2 choices on riverfront and this is much better choice, plenty of parking and extra parking across street.
We stayed two nights in mid August for a short getaway and explore the area. We found the hotel to be reasonably modern and acceptably clean, but the service was terrible. I had to report issues a number of times before they were dealt with and although the front desk was apologetic and seemed to want to handle the problems, it took numerous attempts to get things taken care of. The final straw was the air conditioner in the room died on the evening of our second day. The hotel is situated on a hill overlooking the river. We decided to take a walk along the river, but my wife is handicapped and needs a walker. There was only stairs to get to the exit on the river side of the hotel, so it fails in accessibility. The breakfast was mediocre at best. Because of the issues we had, the front desk offered a discount on the cost of our stay, but nothing was credited. After leaving, I decided to report our dissatisfaction with the chain's customer service headquarters. They said somebody at the hotel would be in touch, but after a week, nobody called. In the end, I believe management at this hotel just does not care about their guests. I will never stay there again!!
Clean rooms ,nice view and great breakfast. We sat outside on the balcony. The weather was beautiful. We will definitely stay here again when in town . Many restaurants near by . There is a restaurant with live music at the hotel . A restaurant across the street that is walking distance.
This use to be the best in Oswego. They have really gone downhill. Stained curtains in the room, no blow dryer, wallpaper coming off, shower curtain all moldy, mold on shower walls, towels looked dingy and stained. Back doors not locked after hours. Staff was rude and dismissive when asking for help. Very disappointed.
Great location on the Oswego River to the Lake Ontario harbor. It was exceptionally hot for this time of year but AC worked great. I did have to speak to desk about incomplete housekeeping during my stay and they responded very well.
Being 65+, when my reenactment group goes camping, I go hoteling. This hotel was close by, which suited me. I want a comfy bed and a shower after a hard day of chasing rebelling colonials. I got both. And breakfast. And access to the Internet. How could I NOT be pleased? AND a refund when I had to leave early!
This hotel has amazing views from every room. Everything was clean. It felt like a luxury stay but priced more affordable. They have the most helpful, professional, friendliest staff - and a great breakfast. I was so pleased with my stay there and would love to go back. Do take your charging blocks, as there were no USB ports (in my room anyway).
We had our workshop at this lovely hotel and convention center again this year. It did not disappoint. The room had a view of the river and a small balcony to enjoy to view. Room was comfortable. The conference center was very nice and the food was very good.
Nice rooms, clean, easy access throughout. Internet service and cell service spotty at best. Continued to have to search for Wifi after getting kicked off several times.
I loved this Best Western. It completely surpassed my expectations. The staff was amazing. The owner was on-site for our large catered events. The balcony was the biggest surprise! The water view was amazing. My only gripe, and it's a small one, is their Wi-Fi. I was there on business, but the quality of my stay wasn't affected nor was the business I needed to conduct. Just annoying.
I would return to this hotel purely for the quality of service! Barbara at the bar was especially great. The front desk staff was also very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about our event. Hotel/infrastructure/interior decor could use some upgrades, but that is the only reason I won't go to 5 stars.
Checked in for one night, two king beds and a roller away for a birthday party. Had fun at the pool and they were very accommodating to set up outside of the pool. Staff was very accommodating with making sure we had ever needed in our room. Roll away bed was a twin size, but could use a new mattress as the springs were poking through. Shower/bath was very clean, mini kitchen was nice to have. A lot of room and seating with a great view of the river! Breakfast was amazing and so many options!
The kids loved the pool and hot tub and I really enjoyed the gym and sauna. The breakfast was really tasty and there was a lot of options. Our room was clean and had a nice view of the river. Would stay here again!
Everything was great. Room was still a little dirty. Found items from guest that had room before we checked in. Pool was amazing. Great location over looking lake Ontario. Breakfast was delicious. I would recommend
All staff was very considerate and friendly. They really made our stay a great one. Highly recommend. Great location. awesome amenities, pool steam room, and gym were awesome. Many great restaurants within walking distance, and the adjoining indoor waterpark was great fun.
The rooms were large, updated, and clean. All of the staff was super friendly and helpful. The breakfast selection was diverse and fresh. I would look to stay here again when I am town and elsewhere based on this experience.
Nice hotel, unfortunately the restaurant was closed to guests for a private party, this would've been good to know before we checked in. While it's nice to have four pillows for each bed it would be good to have some of those that aren't so thick, the thick pillows place your head at an uncomfortable angle.
The rooms were very nice with a view of the water. The pool and gym are way more then would be expected at a hotel. The water park package was a great deal, the kids had a blast, its not a huge water park but plenty to keep them happy and very well maintained.
Our third stay over 2 years. Good condition clean hotel with conference center and large fitness center used by community. Nice employees , especially the breakfast room ladies. Picturesque location on east shore of river. Good access to walking trails and Fort Ontario park. Average but good free breakfast. Queen room has frig but no microwave. We told front desk on day 2 of 7 day stay with a written note that a lamp needed a bulb and bathroom warmer light needed a knob. Nothing happened. If you like or need to use WiFi, do not stay here. It does not work and if it connects , it disconnects in a few seconds. Front desk told us very nicely 3 times they would have it checked. Obviously what they are coached to say. Too bad.
We had friends getting married in the area so they reserved a block. The hotel and room were very nice. My only issue is I feel the cost of the stay for one night was a little pricey for a reserved block
Overall, my stay was pleasurable. The hotel is clean, my room was very clean and comfortable. The food was great for the breakfasts that were served. I would stay here again if the need arises. The rooms where we had our meetings were clean and spacious. Water and coffee was provided for us at all times.
Staff was nice, but rooms were not very clean, (floors and shower dirty). Several things in the room did not work. Maintenance came right away when I called both times, (essential things) but did not report non-essential non-working things; balcony screen inoperable, heat lamp in bathroom broken, super loud refrigerator. Cleanliness not the best, but bedding was clean. Very dim lighting in halls at night.
I stayed two nights in two separate rooms each night. Both rooms didn't have hot water available to shower nor wash your hands. The breakfast was great, they had alot of options available and tasted decent. There is no smoking allowed in the rooms, not a problem but they also make you sign a waver stating you won't smoke in the room or on the Balcony too! That's a bit ridiculous as it's outdoors. The pool and whirlpool were amazing and not crowded at all. The rooms appeared to be clean and had no problems with that.
Overall our stay was very positive. The breakfast was excellent, the staff friendly and accommodating. At first, we were disappointed where our room was (room 111). If you don't mind two bushes and a tree to block some of your view of the canal. It is conveniently located (room 111), up a small flight of stairs to breakfast and down the stairs to outdoors. That outweighed the con of the somewhat obstructed balcony view. The room was very spacious. We love the location of this hotel, very convenient to nearby attractions.
The wallpaper was peeling from the walls in many areas of the room. The Mattress was very very worn not providing any back support. Of all the things a hotel should get right, the mattress and they didn't. The most important thing is to provide your guest with a comfortable place to lie their head, and they missed horribly.
Service was terrible and overall experience be disappointing. We went for an extended stay and had to beg for basic supplies, linen and room cleaning every few days. We were also surprisingly under stocked each time. Every time we asked for something we were told 'I'll tell someone' and then we waited, and waited. One time I literally flagged down a guy carrying a huge load of clean towels to tell him we desperately needed some, and he said 'I'll tell someone' and walked away. Unbelievable! Cleaning staff was equally unhelpful. They need to overhaul their process bc whatever they're doing does not work for extended stays. I was expecting a decent breakfast after reading some of the reviews, but this was disappointing as well. The 'hot' food was prepackaged frozen stuff that was microwaved in another room before being placed in the breakfast area. The pool is only 4 ft deep and is sectioned off into swim lanes. So if you have kids theres very little room to just play or swim. The gym was decent, the room was fairly clean on arrival and at least there were no bugs. The beds were also comfy. That's about all I can say that was good. It may be ok for a quick overnight stay, but it's VERY overpriced for what you get. There are plenty of other hotels nearby that are probably better options.
We recently stayed while in town for a family wedding. Hotel is clean! Breakfast is much better than average. The hot food is cooked on site and not just warmed up. The rooms are spacious with walk in showers and the staff is friendly and helpful. The location is on the river with two locks nearby. There is a nice walk path along the river and just across the river is a shopping area with many unique shops. Excellent stay!
Visiting for a Summer Open House at SUNY Oswego. Cant beat the hotel location with the Lake Ontario Inlet right behind the Hotel and room balcony. Within 5 minutes of the school as well as the town. My son and I shared a two queen room. The beds were a bit stiff for me but my son said they were fine. The room was clean, equipped with a mini fridge and Kurig (with pods) .....Shower stall and average size bathroom. All very clean. The fitness center was top notch, especially for a hotel in this price range. In fact, many of the local towns-people pay to use the facility which includes a medium size pool, hot tub and two saunas. The breakfast was fine. Similar to most hotels in this price range. Honestly, for about $150 a night (on a college open house weekend), this is as good as it gets. If my son decides on SUNY Oneonta, we will be staying here again.
Manager's attitude could have been much more Professional and friendlier, over a $100 per room increase within a couple weeks was a little much, If it wasn't for being wet head to toes we would've went elsewhere, as our crew of 8 did for the rest of the week.
A very charming hotel overlooking the Oswego River. This hotel is in a prime location near great restaurants and bars. The Best Western connects to this restaurant located downstairs called La Parilla On the Water... all we can say is WOW. Beautiful views, great decor, good drink prices. the hotel has a gym and sauna and free breakfast every morning. We look forward to returning in July for the boat show.
It was very quiet, but we were there at an off time. View was lovely. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Buffet breakfast was very good with lots of choices. Amy who prepares the food is pleasant and accommodating. Beds are comfortable. We enjoyed are stay.
We recently stayed at The Best Western Hotel for the New Years Eve overnight stay. As soon as we entered the very friendly woman greeted us with much kindness and enthusiasm, We went upstairs to find our room and we're so pleasantly surprised. The set up for the room was great and I was extremely impressed with the cleanliness The kitchenette was helpful and also a great surprise. All in all our stay was amazing. The party was so much fun and the band chosen had everyone dancing. We loved our stay and would recommend this hotel to our friends and family.
We went there for an Oswego graduation. Checked in Thursday and checked out Sunday morning. Got 2 rooms. 411 and 410. 411 is a king suite. 410 is 2 queen beds. Both rooms had balcony facing the water. King room has two balconies. King also had an extra bathroom sink and whirlpool. King room very spacious. Both rooms had fridge. However, microwaves are not standard so you must ask for it in advance or during check in. Queen room is standard room but it was comfy for our teen kids and my mom. Besides hotel restaurant, there are two others right outside the hotel that you can walk to. Other places to eat in area. Plus a sports bar across the street. No complaints. Staff is very, very friendly. Less than 10 minutes to Oswego College. I'd recommend it if stating in this area. I only included pics of King suite. Queen room had a sitting desk with chair and another separate sitting chair.
Location is right on the river and center the City. Our room overlooked the river with balcony. The onsite restaurant was very good, great bartender was on that night. Front desk staff was excellent and looked to be a student from the local college. Parking was free with plenty of spaces. The included breakfast was appreciated with options for everyone Room décor looked dated but was in very good condition and very clean. Oswego has interesting history as well as home to a highly rated college.
Beautiful view. Beds are the most uncomfortable. Furnishing and carpets are always stained. Strang oder by the bathroom. Staff is friendly and check in and out is a breeze. Parking lacks because of weddings and local restaurants' overflow
I had actually stayed at another Hotel, checked out, got half way home on a 4 hour drive, when I realized I had left an important item and I had to go back. I asked the first Hotel for a decent rate, as I had the unfortunate situation where I had to come back, and really did not want to stay, but the manager would not even give me the rate that I had previously. I ended up at this Best Western and wished I had chosen it first. Ebony was super nice and I got a decent rate and a great room with a view of the River, Oswego, which flows into Lake Ontario. I am so happy I found this place. Great location, right on the river, great front desk staff, Ebony :-) Spacious room, all necessary amenities.
No internet for 5 hours and even though I'm here on business they seemed not to be able to "do anything because I have bars on my phone". Also from 6 to 10 in the evening the staff were washing the laundry but with machines that shook the entire floor and rattled like a freight train. Without the internet issues or the laundry noise, the stains on the rug and the smells scream old and abused hotel. If the service was even a bit better I would have thought otherwise to write such a poor review but the attendants can't even bother to "problem-solve" any of these issues. I'm betting the other rooms were just as bad.
I highly recommend Best Western Plus Oswego Hotel. I was there for SUNY Oswego Parents Weekend and this is my choice hotel for the last five years. Great staff, wonderful rooms and the location is great. Views of the river and the Lake Ontario. I look forward to another visit to the hotel and this very quaint town.
Compared to other BW stays Pros: Great friendly service Nice location on the river Great well stocked breakfast Quiet room Cons Room cleanliness was mediocre Rooms starting to look a bit dated with peeling wallpaper, stains on carpets. Overall: We we're satisfied with the stay. Price was pretty good. I've had better BW stays but this one was alright.
Exceeded expectations; clean, quiet and comfortable. Would highly recommend. Breakfast is included. Parking available. There was kitchenette in our room which is a plus for many travelers (we only stayed one night).
I couldn't have asked for a nicer hotel. The Front Desk Agents were very kind, and the place was immaculate! It was a shame that I only got to spend one night, due to the fact that I had to attend a funeral, but am hoping to return!
The guest book says there are cribs but they apparently don't have any. Service wasn't best they told us the guest books were out dated. I deff won't be back. Extremely over priced. Don't go here if you have children that need a crib
Thos was a great place to stay as a loyal Best Western customer.Nice clean room, good breakfast, and nice view of water.Staff very friendly.Easy parking right in front of hotel.Only thing I would have liked is a microwave in the room.
This was our second time at this Best Western location. We highly recommend staying here. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The hot breakfast has a great variety of food, and the pool was an added plus. if you can request a riverside room, the view was great and the live music by the river an added plus.
I normally stay exclusively at Hilton hotels. During this trip to Oswego I decided to try this hotel because it's on the river and the Hilton was just unreasonably expensive. I was very pleasantly surprised. The decor is definitely outdated. The lobby isn't much to look at and I have to say I was nervous as I waited in line in the kind of cramped space. Im used to online check in and fancier lobby experiences. But once it was my turn the staff was absolutely lovely warm kind and welcoming. The halls are dark long and need a refresh but again… They were clean. The room was a very good size with all of the amenities I would expect. Some I was Pleasantly surprised by at a best Western. Two free bottles of water in the fridge, plenty of soaps lotions, nice towels….large shower with a ledge for shaving or other… You often don't see that. I am a Hilton diamond member and my last five stays I have not even gotten the complementary water that comes with that status and here they just give it for free to everybody. All the decor was outdated but everything was in very well-maintained excellent condition. It was very very clean. Every detail that normally I can find missed at any other hotel was not missed here. I booked on Priceline last minute and was very pleased with the size of the room the amenities and there's even a little balcony overlooking the water. Even the balcony furniture and area were spotlessly clean which almost never happens. The only negative would be that the beds do not have a duvet. They have a blanket wrapped in sheets. Very clean sheets and beds were nicely made but I'm just used to a duvet. everything that was within the staffs control at this hotel is above expectations… Service cleanliness attention to amenities. The view is outstanding. These days when all service industries are struggling this hotel seems to be keeping up and keeping up better than any other I've stayed in the last three years. If you are debating between available options in the city and aren't married to another chains reward program I would recommend giving this hotel a try. It's not modern like the Hilton but I feel more welcome I feel that staff care more it's cleaner and the service is great. Plus you have the option of a Waterview. There is a restaurant on site but it's not open today but I've heard it is very good. It is a large hotel and convention center but I have not heard any noise.
Best Western Oswego plus hotel is a Great location on the river with balconies that have the lake view. Complimentary breakfast is served from 6 to 9 am which gives you several choices. The restaurant in the hotel is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Several restaurants are within walking and a short driving distance. The new electric scooter programs give you the opportunity to ride the town for a small fee( down load the ire app) for use of the scooters. Summer warm weather in the day and a nice cool summer breeze at night.
We recently spent two nights in the Oswego area and were very satisfied with our stay at the Best Western Plus. The room was large and comfortable and had a great view of the Oswego River from the outdoor patio. All rooms have a river view. The breakfast buffet was great - they had just about everything you could want.
The bed was lumpy and sagging toward one side. The room I stayed in needs a new mattress. There was no handicap parking available as there were only 2 spaces and they were occupied. They need to provide more handicap accessible parking. Staff needs to explain the amenities, such as breakfast & the pool better.
Great location right on the river in downtown, but a quiet location. I prefer to sleep with windows open, and the location was very quiet. Staff were cheerful and helpful, and although the hotel restaurant wasn't open on the Wednesday night of my two night stay, there was a bar/restaurant right across the street.
Great location and walking distance to downtown. Comfortable beds and pillows. Nice terrace overlooking the river. Friendly and helpful staff. The only downside was there were spider webs on the terrace. We were on the ground floor so next time I will request a room on a higher floor.
My husband and I stayed here during a recent cross-country driving trip. All rooms overlook the river, and staff was friendly and accommodating. Both guest and traffic noise were non-existent, the rooms were clean, and the beds very comfortable. The first room we were assigned had an air conditioner that rattled loudly; however, when we notified the front desk, we were immediately reassigned and there were no further problems. The rooms are definitely well-used, but overall, it was a good stay, and I would stay again.
Clean, perfectly located, great breakfast, live music outside at restaurant, what more could you ask for. Mid week pricing very reasonable, expect high end $ on weekends which is to be expected. Girls at checking made me some well brewed coffee and were very pleasant. Do yourself a favor and get a balcony with lake view soooo relaxing.
Hotel location is great! Clean and quiet. Beautiful view of the river. We had an emergency @ home and had to leave early. Staff was very kind and considerate. We will be back possibly later in June or July.
This hotel used to be a beautiful, lovely, enjoyable place to stay…….. it was by all accounts “the cats meow”! I'm hoping that after reading this they complete multiple repairs and updates to bring this hotel back to where it should be. It could be a beautiful destination!
This location has always had excellent hospitality staff, however in these challenging times, this conference center has been able to maintain that standard in this very tight labor market which is truly surpising.
I normally do not give reviews because I am overly critical. I used to own a small motel and can see the details often overlooked, I usually bring my own cleaning materials. I did not use them, I found absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel, it was immaculate. My daughter goes to college nearby and this will definitely be the place we stay from now on. The staff was friendly, The breakfast was well stocked, had a good selection and we even had water views. I have paid more for less at other motels.
My husband and I took a 2 day trip just to check out the area. I wanted to be as close to the lake as possible. It was between this hotel and the hotel right next door. I read the reviews on both hotels, neither glowing, so I took a gamble with BW. I am so pleased that I did ! From the minute we arrived at the front desk, both people were so nice. We got to our room, which was SPOTLESS, and the bathroom was very large. We had a lakefront room, which I felt was reasonably priced based on the local economy. We loved listening to the wind againt the patio doors. It was so soothing and calming. We just had a really nice, quiet time.
Great location in Oswego to stay. Close to everything local. Walking distance to a lot of places. We will stay at the this location again. They have a pool and a hot tub. We did not try them but our friends did and loved it
Me and my family stayed at the hotel we had a wonderful stay but the coffee area in the kitchen was dirty people didn't clean up after themselves and there was a shortage of milk for 2 days and I never got taken care of.
Staff was attentive and responsive. Much appreciated by us. The kids were off school so many were at the facility swimming. Thanks to the Moms for keeping a keen eye on the kids and the staff for maintaining the rules. We enjoyed the sauna and steam room very much. Hard to find them anymore in Hotels.
The staff at the Oswego, NY location were fantastic! Always working with a smile and there to help with anything our group needed. Rooms were clean, cozy and warm upon entry. Breakfast area was kept clean and sanitized through our stay. Would definitely recommend.
If your looking to get away from the kids for a night or you have a special occasion with a loved one. Nothing beats BW in Oswego NY. Make sure to get the room with the hot tub. Yes it's a little more however, it's definitely worth the price of admission.
I used the room for a photoshoot for my business. It was clean, decorated nicely, and worked out great. Once I was done, I loved hanging out in the hot tub in my room. Next time, I will be using this room as a getaway or romantic weekend.
Got a great room with a balcony overlooking the water. Very relaxing! We visit family a few times a year and have always gotten great service and room for several years now. We are looking forward to our next trip in the spring.
Let me start by saying the staff was the best part of this hotel. They are very accommodating and friendly. Extremely professional and go above and beyond to make your stay a pleasant one. That being said, this hotel needs to be updated and repairs need to be completed. Also the restaurant needs help. I used to stay at this hotel and it was “THE CATS MEOW”. Unfortunately, it is falling apart and is in the need of updating and repairs. Hopefully the owners read these reviews and pay attention. I was told by family that live in Oswego not to stay here and not to eat at the restaurant because it wasn't good anymore. Hopefully it gets the TLC it needs. Once again the staff was great!
The Best Western in Oswego exceeded my expectations! It was a very nice and very clean hotel! The staff was absolutely wonderful! And the location right on the canal was beautiful! I had no idea what to expect in Oswego and I was pleasantly surprised!
I had a very quiet, cozy, and comfortable stay at the Best Western in Oswego. I was in town for business and chose to stay here mostly because of the location. The staff was very welcoming and set a good tone for my stay. The room was clean and served my purposes well enough. The decor might've been a little dated but I appreciated the balcony with view. I didn't get to enjoy the pool as my stay was briefed . I would've liked more healthy options for breakfast (fresh fruit, juice, oatmeal, etc.) but complimentary breakfast is a nice touch.
My family and I checked into room 301 on October 14th, my husband's birthday. This was also our first trip away with our five month old. Never did we expect that booking a Best Western stay at $200 a night in what is supposed to be one of your best rooms, that we would be getting such deplorable conditions. Immediately after unloading the luggage cart and settling in, we discovered dirty men's underwear on our floor. Unbelievable. Called down to report this to management and have it removed. Tony seemed helpful and apologetic. Told me he would talk to his housekeeping staff, and to call him about anything else missed. Woke up the next morning to find women's hair stuck to the shower wall. Also gross and proving that no one cleans these rooms. I immediately called down and spoke to Sarah. She said Tony was not at work yet and that she would pass the message along. Sarah said housekeeping had just arrived and that they couldn't come until they finished loading their carts. Someone came later right when my husband was using the facilities. She came in and said she would come back again soon to clean the shower. We left for the entire day until dinner time. Once we arrived, saw that it infact was still not taken care of. Called down to let someone know. Spoke to Tony and he said housekeeping was now gone for the day, but that he would send someone shortly. No one ever showed and he never cared to call to let us know that no one would be coming up. Hours later I get our baby to bed, and head to the bathroom before we get our toddler into bed. All of a sudden, a BED BUG is crossing my path in our bathroom!!! We have stayed in hundreds of hotels, different countries, and even cruise ships and NEVER in our lives have we had such a disgusting experience, let alone a bed bug infested hotel! Since our baby was already sound asleep for the night with the lights off in the bedroom, we were not even able to switch rooms yet or check our mattress. We expect to be fully refunded and will be reporting this bed bug situation. Not to mention that right as you walk in you see the nasty stains on every piece of furniture. Maybe invest in slips covers that can actually be washed? The Owner of this establishment as well as the Manager on vacation needs to be made aware. We definitely will not ever be back here and will be leaving the appropriate reviews regarding our stay here.
Great experience working with the staff of the Best Western while navigating the set up of daughter's wedding! Attentive and flexible staff both on line and in person. Beautiful venue for event! Would highly recommend!
This Best Western is by far the most amazing group of people. From top to bottom they are by far the most friendly group of employees I have ever seen. Always, Always polite and helpful. They go above and beyond expectations!!!!!
Rooms was very clean and it was really easy to check in and check out. The location of the Hotel was good and it was in walking distance to other bars and restaurants. But if you didn't want top go anywhere there where place at the hotel that would satisfy your dinning or social appetite.
I wouldn't normally stay at a Best Western, but its the best in this area. I will have to say I was impressed. It was well maintained, clean, updated and the staff was great. I had a river view room, view was cool. Nice patio/deck to sit out on.
The Best Western Plus in Oswego is in desperate need of a refurbishment and a new chef in the restaurant. I stayed there, and the room smelled strange, the carpet was stained, there were bugs in the sink, and the furnishings were in deep distress. I ate at their restaurant, "Alex's", and there were bugs and bees flying all over the bar area. Yes, many many many bees flying around, and flying at people's food eating nearby. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. The steak seemed off, the accompanying vegetables were just not edible, the entire experience at this "hotel" reminded me of a cheap disgusting $25 per night motel, not the $200 I spent........and for what? The rooms have paper thin walls. I heard people next door talking until late in the wee hours of the morning, and I would not even dare go under the bedding. It all gave me the creeps.
This hotel was o.k. We enjoyed their pool and hot tub. You have to make reservations to use the lap pool. It wasn't a big deal, we just waited for half and hour and they make sure you get your turn. The room itself smelled like feet and there were some very noticeable large stains on the carpet. Beds were comfortable and the river view from the room was beautiful. Nice balcony to sit on.
Great location plenty of parking, beautiful balcony and view of river, great breakfast not just junk food, eggs bacon sausage waffles etc, clean hotel helpful front desk, nice pool. Note: due to Covid health precautions they don't fix up your room every day. Hotel didn't tell us that. If you need towels or sheets just ask they will accommodate you.
We stayed here when we went to the Sterling Renaissance Festival . Myself, my adult daughter and my grandsons ages 6 & 9. The room was very spacious with a small frig and coffee maker. We requested a microwave ahead of time and it was waiting by our door when we arrived. Everything was clean (there was a stain on the rug, but that was from age). The complimentary breakfast was great, The kids loved the waffle maker and the hot items were hot. Oswego is a lovely town and I would like to go back. It was so nice that this hotel was on the water and that we had a balcony.
Went there for our grandson's baseball tournament. Room was fine. Cool, clean and comfy. That being said, they were grossly understaffed. Was told that housekeeping would only empty our trash and replace our towels. That never happened. After calling 3 times and going down to front desk, my towels were delivered. 10 PM. RESERVATION came with breakfast. First morning it was stocked: hot and cold cereals, waffle maker, bagels, cream cheese, yogurt, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. The following morning, only 90 minutes into the start time, there was NOTHING. one worker was busy making the pancake batter, and she was it. They definitely need more people on duty during the breakfast shift. Plenty of employees sitting at front desk.
This Best Western has a great location on the Oswego River. The hotel rooms could be updated and the Internet service definitely needs updating. It was frustrating dealing with it. The hotel has a great location and it is easy to walk to many things that are offered in Oswego including the downtown area. The restaurant on the property is excellent. Our only complaint is it is time to update the rooms and the Internet service.
I reserved a double Queen handicapped accessible room well in advance of our visit and received a confirmation. Upon arrival I was informed by the staff person (still in training) that There were none available. One was “dirty” and the other occupied. We were given a room with spaces and furniture that mobility devices cannot navigate between and a bath with a tub and no grab bars. The following morning the assistant manager changed us to an accessible room that was to have had a pull out couch and a queen bed. No apology for my Mother's inability to shower. The room to which I was sent had a straight backed chair and no couch and one bed. When I returned to the desk (this would have been about the fourth room I had been sent to that didn't not have the reported accommodations) the staff person had a saggy rollaway bed delivered. We were charged for a double Queen. I will not be staying at another Best Western Hotel.
A good location with restaurants with in walking distance. There is a large fitness center with variety of machines, pool, sauna and hot tub. It was slightly busy at the hotel due to several wedding parties over the weekend. Staff is very friendly and there did not appear to be any COVID restrictions. Open breakfast self serve. The restaurant attached had good service. Food was decent but a little pricy and there was not a lot of items on thee menu.
We stayed in one of the rooms with a jacuzzi . What a great way to unwind! Loved being right on the water. Try Steamers restaurant for an easy meal and great service. Try a tour of Fort Ontario and the White Maritime Museum, just blocks away.
Beautiful location friendly workers very nice accommodations on-site restaurant with entertainment as well as another restaurant pub located across street which is little traffic. Located on a canal leading to Lake Ontario
We had a river view room with a balcony (320). The room had a sprinkler system and smoke detectors for the safety conscious when staying in a higher room. The room was very quiet and warm without us turning the heat on with only 40 degree temps outside. Even though there was the remnants of a wedding at the event center there was plenty of parking. The room was spacious and spotless with comfy beds and pillows. The bathroom had a large vanity and was a shower only which we loved. Nothing I hate more than climbing over the side of a tub. There was no hair dryer that I could find nor laundry plastic bag but I'm assuming this was something to do with covid. We also had a refrigerator with a freezer which was nice for the ice packs i always bring along. I saved the best for last. They had a real breakfast buffet except for waffles. There was eggs and bacon and loads of other hot and cold breakfast foods. It was so nice not to receive a "to go" bag to start the day. I really can't say anything about the pool or fitness facilities as we arrived very late and did not use anything but the wifi which was excellent. Overall, a great stay in a beautiful location.
The staff was excellant. They all went above and beyond making my stay very pleasureable. Any time or anything that I needed they got for me or directed me where to go. I will most definately stay here again whenever I come up!
We always choose Best Western when traveling on car trips. Our room at this one had gorgeous views of the river and lake. We watched a stunning sunset while sitting on our balcony. The staff was courteous and helpful. One especially helpful gentleman tracked down some clothes that I had left behind and arranged to have them sent back to me! Would definitely recommend for any Oswego travelers!
We attended graduation at SUNY Oswego. This hotel was flawless. Professional desk staff, hassle-free and accurate reservations. Immaculate room with a view and a balcony! Loved it. Will return and highly recommend!
We had an excellent stay. the check in process was fast, we were upgraded to a room with a balcony. The internet was fast and the continental breakfast was hot and fresh. The only minor issue was the tv reception for local channels as it was distorted. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.
This was our first time in the area overall it was really great and would be visiting again very soon when the weather gets a little warmer The beds were really comfortable and the room was exceptionally clean
Captain's Quarters is the best hotel in Oswego my family stays here all the time. Fitness center and jacuzzi are excellent, has great views of the river and location is excellent. Beds are very comfy. An excellent restaurant across the street and Alex's seasonal restaurant located in the building.
We had a great stay! We loved the fitness center, the pool and hot tub, and the breakfast in the morning. Beautiful view from our room and very close to many different restaurants in Oswego! We will be back again!
Upon arrival, we asked about the pool/spa and were told that it was open. No other information - we later found out, when we tried to use the facilities, that we had to reserve a time and unfortunately, they were already booked. We knew our schedule and could have booked a time when we checked in, however, due to the lack of communication, we were unable to use the pool during our stay. The room looked out on the Oswego River and that was very nice, however, the heating in the room was not working properly - there was only a temperature option on the wall - could not set for heat or cool, just the temp. The beds were uncomfortable and there was a bad stain on the chair by the window - which I reported to the front desk. Hopefully, someone will remove that chair or have it properly cleaned. We really enjoyed visiting the area, but would not stay in this location again.
Such a relaxing small getaway to escape the politics and pandemic. Just wish the pool Scheduling was more accommodating at the time Of our stay.food was great clean room Shower was amazing, friendly staff. Pool scheduling was tough there was a birthday party
I like my stays to be simple and easy. And COVID precautions were taken seriously! Simple check in and check out. The breakfast was a quick easy bite with hot coffee which was also good! It is located in town with several restaurants for take out food nearby.
Worst experience ever. Horrible customer service. Staff is heartless. Vending machines just ate your money or nothing was in stock. Breakfast choices were horrible. We will not be staying ever again..
Amazing, friendly, helpful staff, all around. The beds were very comfortable. Our jacuzzi suite was amazing. There was lots of room, plenty of seating, and it was very clean and tidy. We loved that we had a beautiful view of the water from our room. The pool and fitness area were top notch. The breakfast was great, even with covid going on and having a smaller selection. The price was awesome and the drink cards and coupons for money off dinner at their restaurant that we were given at check in was very generous. The atmosphere of the bar/restaurant was so welcoming and fun and the food and drinks were great. This will be our go to for when we need to just get away and enjoy the Oswego area, which we are very fond of. Thank you so much for making my family feel comfortable and safe at such a difficult, stressful time.
Room was very clean, price was very reasonable. Breakfast was good too! Even with the Covid restrictions, the hotel was great! We even received a discount at the restaurant next door and their food was great too.
Drug paraphernalia left in our room, that was missed by the housekeeping staff. We were met by the smell of cigarette smoke in a non smoking room. Smoke detector was covered with plastic which was missed by housekeeping as well.
The check in took longer than expected when we had a reservations. The crew is limited due to covid and the breakfast is a grab and go. However there is coffee in the room and a pot to make your own. I wish breakfast would have been cooked and brought to the room since we are still dealing with covid.
A clean hotel with a great view from our 3rd floor balcony of the Oswego River. Stayed here after a day at Sacketts Harbor and would do so again. Very clean with a great front desk staff. A few nice eating establishments within walking distance. Convenient location. We enjoyed Alex's on the Water - right next door. Great view enjoyed with a drink and supper.
I was not happy when I arrived at 6 p.m. to check in, and there were 4 guests ahead of me. While I waited patiently for 45 minutes I listened to a barrage of complaints, and to others checking back to see if their rooms were ready. I was impressed how the front desk employees maintained their composure. Once it was my turn, I was pretty upset to find that my reserved room was taken. "How could this happen?" they asked me while the crowd behind me sighed and complained. I had no choice other than to settle for a different room. I was upset to be downgraded, but there was no choice. My room rate was reduced to a rate that pleased me. As I walked to my room, I saw at least 4 housemaids rushing and cleaning rooms. They all stopped and said hello and were very pleasant. Stepping into the room, it was immaculate and what a view! The night was quiet :-) One thing I missed was a hair dryer, was that because of covid, or did I need to ask the front desk? The hotel should consider hiring more employees to assist this extremely hard working and professional staff. Sorry you all have to put up with this stress.
We planned a fishing trip on ontario last week and decided to sleep on a friends boat. Upon arriving at said boat we did not feel safe where it was docked or where we were sleeping and thought that getting ahotel would be much better. Closest BW to Sodus point was oswego and we were familiar with wrights marina so we called on our way after a very long day of work and driving to hours to sketchy said marina. When i called the Jordan was so kind and helpful with directions, parking, breakfast and everything i would need to know he then helped us at chekc in and even gave us two free drink tickets to the restaurant next door. The room was perfectly clean and very well maintained, we have a nice room with view of the canal and where we could see our boat parked for safety. Safe to say we will definitely be back, oh that's right i just booked 2 more nights at this hotel in august for my boyfriends birthday. The value for the hotel is spot on with price. Thank you again for hosting us Jordan you are the BEST!
Had a very nice room overlooking Lake Ontario and the Oswego River. Everything was clean and in good condition. Hotel has a very nice, large outdoor bar/restaurant area right on the river. The only "complaint" -and it's really just personal preference - is that the mattress was very firm, which is tough on my back.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The river-room room had a beautiful view. The hotel was centrally located and very clean and accommodating. There are tons of things to do within walking distance including restaurants, bars and parks. Everyone was super friendly. We look forward to staying again.
We pick this property every year while working nearby. Love the views even though we can't enjoy it so much due to the late schedules. Breakfast is included. Very nice spread, lovely staff. There is a very nice fitness center and indoor pool. I've never used, but would love to. Their restaurant on the water is closed for the season,,, there are 2 restaurants within walking distance and some finer ones a short drive across the bridge. Check in and check out are smooth. Rooms are spacious with nice amenities.. friendly front desk staff.
I enjoyed our stay here. The breakfast was excellent, the staff was friendly, the room was clean. I wish there were more outlets closer to the bed or in the lamp base as I have seen elsewhere because if I wanted to use my phone or iPad while charging I couldn't use the lamp. That's just an observation - doesn't affect my rating. The pool Policy of having to turn in your towel before going back to the room caused me to give one less star. We borrowed towels and when we had to give them back as soon as we headed back to our room it made us have to walk through the halls and lobby in wet bathing suits and we were cold. That's not a good policy.
I have travelled around the US this past year and stayed in a myriad of different hotels. This NewYears Eve we stayed here and by far this was the best hotel. I am also quite proud that this excellent hotel is in a town I grew-up in! Well done!
The family and staff at the Best Western Plus in Oswego host the BEST New Years Eve gala! You won't be disappointed. It's clear that they begin planning the next years event right away. That would be based on how organized and the attention to every detail from early check in (with complimentary glass of champagne and late night goody bag) to late check out (enjoy the sauna) and a good bye - come see us again soon from the staff!
The event was nice. Food was plentiful however not hot. Need to take advantage of lighting under the chaffing dishes. The food was not the quality of this same event last year. Billionaires playing was great - the DJ was not up to par with them.
Clean room courteous staff, LeeAnn at front desk is amazing, breakfast an added bonus, do yourself a fovor book a room at best western plus in Oswego, relax and enjoy the lake views, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Bill T. Lafayette n.j.
why would a contractor building a motel install a shower stall with no sliding glass door and only half of the stall covered by glass--the shower water sprayed all over the bathroon floor and the bathroom door!!!!!!!!! The maids must love cleaning up the bathrooms every day!!!!!!!!!
Found the hotel to be inviting. Large room with beautiful view of the river was very relaxing. Quiet environment allowed for an excellent night's sleep. The breakfast spread was fantastic. Polite and friendly staff. On-site pool/sauna very nice.
We were there in the 'off season' , but this place must be the hub of activity in the warm weather. Our balcony overlooked Lake Ontario at the mouth of the Oswego River. One can only imagine what a great place this would be in the summer. Our King room was spacious, spotless and comfortable. The restaurant was closed for the season, but there are several great eateries within a short walk. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. Great scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, fresh fruit, as well as all the other popular breakfast items. We highly recommend this establishment.
Great place to stay especially with kids! Friendly staff at the hotel who was able to help accommodate us in many ways. Breakfast food was great and it was a short walk into Oswego where we went to the movies, visited the childrens museum and went to the book store!
Great view of the lake and river. Fantastic location. Good value for the price. Will come back. Located near lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance of many more. Was very clean and loved the balcony.
Best place to stay in Oswego, hands down. Close to SUNY Oswego college. Walking distance from town and restaurants. Outstanding, friendly staff. Clean rooms. Always plenty of parking available. Views of water and Lake Ontario. Easy check in and check out.
The Hotel only had 3 people on the cleaning crew for entire hotel. Check in was 3pm and our room was still not ready at 5pm when we arrived. We were then told we'd get an upgrade but it turns out that room would have taken even longer to prepare.
The hotel is average. Noisy heat/ac unit. no room service available from on site restaurant. Great views of Oswego's river and old city area. Has a good restaurant across the street and next door at another hotel. Easy to walk to other city sites.
This hotel is special. My husband and I were traveling and were lucky to find this place. The location is beautiful and rooms have balconies overlooking the Oswego River and Lake Ontario. Our room was immaculate and spacious, with great attention to comfort and ample work space. The stay included an above average, hot breakfast buffet. The indoor heated pool and hot tub were glorious. The fitness center was immense. The service was exemplary. Honestly, we could not have had a more comfortable stay.
Convenient to all places around Oswego. We were there for a wedding at Bayshore Grove so we made reservations at Best Western. Very clean and friendly Hotel. Breakfast was free and there was a lot of food to choose from.
Great riverfront hotel, with lovely balcony with 2 chairs. Clean, large room and bathroom. Very convenient that it has it's own restaurant on the river. Breakfast was better than most hotel breakfasts.
I've stayed at this location many times before so I'm pretty happy with what they have to offer. We stayed over the Labor Day weekend (2019). When my husband called to make a reservation he was told it was extremely full. Got a room so we were happy. Got there with a late check-in arrival and were given a handicapped room (not needed) but my husband dealt with it. Actually ended up liking it. The weekend weather was just perfect. Great for sitting out on the balcony, only we didn't have outdoor furniture. I asked the maid and also the front desk. I was told we won't be seeing any on our stay. I went outside and took multiple pictures of the building and my room was the only one with not patio chair/chairs table. Humm....so I rolled out the desk chair. One can argue the fact that it was a H/C room but what if someone had a companion with them? Kind of discriminating. The next night went to Alex's on the water. What a mistake that was. NO mint for mixed drinks, 2 main entrees/meal NOT available, NO dinner rolls were being served and 3 of the 6 desserts were NOT available either. Who runs such a poor restaurant? We were one of 4 families in the entire place. So it wasn't do to a packed house. We like to give the hotel and restaurant our patronage but this was too much negative for me, So we took our money else where. I've been here before and know it's better than this one unfortunate trip. So I will be back but it will be a while until I find myself here again.
Ok. Just left this place. People working the front desk were very nice and courteous. So why the negative review? There is a decent size gym and pool on the lower level. The problem is that outside people can pay a monthly fee to use the gym and pool. This seems at attract a bunch of real cranky senior citizens who are there every morning My kids would go down to use the pool (we stayed 3 nights ) and would often get yelled at by angry senior citizens who though they owned the place. My kids were a just like normal kids and having fun with their siblings in the pool. Some of the things they said to my kids “ stop splashing!!” “Can you not talk so loud!” “ these lanes are for laps!” The pool is probably 20 feet long. The fact they even rope off lanes for “laps” is utterly ridiculous. These roped off lanes leave a tiny area for kids to use. The best part is after they take over the pool they all shoot upstairs and scam in on the free continental breakfeast. I have nothing against senior citizens. I do have a problem with a hotel letting outsiders take over their facilities that are advertised for hotel guests. I paid almost 600 bucks for 3 nights. I bet they gym memberships you sell take almost 2 years to generate that income. Sorry best western. Are you a health club or a hotel? The fact that you let outside people come in and treat your guests like this means we won't be back
In a nutshell, a beautiful view with a very pleasant and courteous staff. The rooms are clean and comfortable with cable and internet access. Access to the adjoined gym/pool/sauna/jacuzzi for guests of the hotel. Reasonably priced throughout most of the year. Restaurant addition on premises plus close to other nearby restuarants. Accepts AAA discounts. I won't stay anywhere else in Oswego. Almost canceled vacation because I waited to long to book and almost couldn't get a room. The hotel IS part of my vacation. That's how good it is. If I had to make a negative comment it would be that there continental breakfast could be improved (but really, couldn't that be said for just about ANY hotel?).
this hotel was very busy because of a wedding but the staff was well organized and worked hard to keep everyones visit go a smoothly as possible. My husband and I stayed at the Watertown Bestwestern the night before. the difference between these two hotel was night and day.
Everything about this hotel was perfect. The rooms were spotless, staff was very friendly and informative (we never turned a corner without a hello!), and breakfast was scrumptious! We could not have asked for a better stay!
BED BUGS! There were bed bugs in our room and me and my mother was bitten up hopefully we did not bring any home with us but I do not recommend this hotel at all. Yes we were offered a full refund but I am itching like crazy and that still isn't enough.
We stayed here too visit friends in the area. The hotel has excellent views of the river and lake Ontario. Staff Jeff's quality service. Alex is on the waterfront Restaurant is fantastic. This location is the best. Can't wait to go back. Already making reservations for next year!
This motel is ideally situated on a canal with views of Lake Ontario and of Fort Ontario. There are restaurants both in the motel and within walking distance. The rooms are big and comfortable and attractive. The staff is friendly and helpful. We were visiting town for a wedding, but have stayed in this motel in the past.
Extremely satisfied with our stay here. This hotel was very clean, staff was very friendly and helpful and restaurant (Alex's on the Water) was excellent - good food and drinks and live music. Will definitely stay here again.
breakfast was awesome, plenty of hot food, eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, cereal, staff was very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. don't eat at the restaurant food wasn't great for the money. pool area was wonderful and loved that it is on the first floor. very quite
Understaffed for a weekend sb tournament ........ No housekeeping sevices used. Although asked a few times..no new towels, no trash emptied, just could have used some empathy. Room smelled of old smoking days. Carpet dirty. Faucet and tub plumbing slow to drain.
The friendly staff, especially Atreyu at check in, made this a pleasant stay at Best Western. We had a nice view of the water in this convenient location by the docks of Oswego. The onsite bar/restaurant served delicious food in a great setting for dinner. However, I wish they would have been open for lunch as well.
A splendid hotel with rooms overlooking the water. We enjoy opening windows when staying at an hotel. It appears that this is becoming less of an option these days. However, this Best Western room had sliding doors and a balcony. We were quite content. Of note is the breakfast nook with a wonderful view of the river. The breakfast has a good variety of hot and cold offerings. The evening before we were lucky enough to have dinner at their outdoor restaurant. We would highly rate their food and service and the view over the water while looking at the sun go down was very satisfying.
This is beautiful hotel in an even more beautiful location. All rooms look out across the Oswego River. It has everything you need, including a fantastic bar/restaurant...Alex's....and you can walk to so many things!
I've just had another enjoyable stay at The Captain's Quarters Best Western Plus in Oswego, NY. I've always found the staff to be pleasant, professional and helpful at this particular hotel. Kudos to management! Leanne at the Front Desk; Brooke and Brooke at the Front Desk; Leeann (sp) in Housekeeping and Ashley at the restaurant make the whole hotel shine.
Overall, I thought the Best Western Plus Oswego Hotel And Conference Center was nice but too expensive for the location, compared to other hotels in Oswego on the same dates. It was updated and very clean. The hotel had friendly and helpful staff. The WiFi performance is spotty in some parts of the hotel. Also, it would be nice if the pool and fitness center were open later.
Everything is very clean! The staff is friendly. A few areas that can be upgraded; they are: Breakfast menu, parking space, amenities (more personal items in the bathroom, such as: cotton swabs, make-up remover). But overall is a very nice hotel. I would come back!
The hotel was great. The staff was more than helpful from food recommendations, to allowing kids to play floor hockey, to helping carry equipment to our rooms. We were there during a big snow storm and the staff put us at ease. There were several good restaurants within walking distance including the Press box and Steamers. Pool area was very nice and so was the fitness center.
Here for a hockey tournament. During a major blizzard. The staff was more than accommodating. They allowed us have very late extended check out times. They also allowed us to make a last minute decision to stay an extra night. The room was very clean. I'd definitely stay again.
What a beautiful location and property. I loved how all the rooms had a view of Lake Ontario and had a small balcony. The halls were long but the view made up for that detail. Large room and comfortable bed. Breakfast was good and the staff ws very accommodating
Disappointing hotel. Room was ok but down at the end of a long hallway. Breakfast was good. But the hotel was very noisy! Constant sound of doors banging and noise all night long. Way overpriced even with a wedding rate. Won't be back.
This is my first stay at this property, although I have stayed next door (The Quality Inn) several times. The property itself is situated on the Oswego River, with most rooms having its own balcony (something the adjacent property does not), and you get a great view of the river and surrounding area. The room itself was nice, clean and spacious enough for the two us; as well for the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was good. The staff were very nice and helpful. They give a complimentary breakfast, which was satisfactory - it did the job. As did the free WiFi. Within the hotel is a restaurant and bar - Alex's On The Water - which has a beautiful outdoor patio bar with fire pit right on the river - and outstanding oasis in Oswego (actually, it did not feel like the Oswego I have come to know, and that's a great thing). Food was okay, but a place to hang out and drink, is as good as it gets, and I have been to a "few" places. Our group had a great time hanging out there. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel, and look forward to a return trip. You might spend a little more, but you get the value in doing so.
Very nice hotel great location beautiful view....sent my parents there for the night to celebrate there anniversary when the arrived they were upgraded to a suite woohoo best western my parents were thrilled
We had a corner room upstairs and the view was fantastic. Also a suite, so that was really nice. We were absolutely thrilled with this hotel. If we go to Oswego we will definitely stay here. The restaurant was great too. We ate outside and it was really lovely.
This hotel is clean and excellent view of Oswego River and Lake Ontario. The front desk staff is alright, they put a 300 pending charge on my card (I prepaid in full) and I was informed when I was checking out, it was suppose to be around $50 ( which makes more since) but when I asked about it After the first night the staff had no idea why The housekeepers are wonderful, Friendly and helpful The pool and fitness are nice.
We enjoyed our stay but it wasn't cheap! We had two rooms for five of us and paid over $1200 for the three nights. I would have expected chocolate on my pillow for that price! The breakfast was nice for a continental style. The beds were comfortable. I slept better there than at other places I've stayed.
My husband and I booked a last minute fishing trip on the lake and ended up staying at the BW. Upon check-in we were upgraded to a larger room which was great! We had a view of the water, more than enough space and were very happy with the cleanliness of the room. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to use any of the amenities but the fitness center and pool looked very inviting. We thought the price was slightly high considering the area but it was also a popular weekend for students returning to college so maybe we just had our timing off. We would stay again if needed!
Best Western has really stepped it up in the past few years. BW is becoming our preferred choice when it comes to hotels. We will always stay at this Best Western when we are traveling to or through Oswego, NY. Great location and the rooms looking out onto the water are very, very nice..
My family and I always stay at this location when bringing our daughter back to college. Love the balcony overlooking the water & town. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Breakfast has a great selection .
This is a little belated since we stayed at the end of July: We stayed during Harborfest for the fireworks (awesome) and the weather was a gorgeous summer weekend. For a hotel in a fairly small town in a more rural area of NYS, this was very nice. The location is very scenic along the river and views of the harbor to Lake Ontario. Easy walking to places around town. The exercise area was great and we enjoyed eating at Alex's with great outdoor seating and water views. Would recommend wine, beer or straight booze since the cocktails were pretty watered down. The exercise room is really nice and big with a lot of options. There was a spider and web on the outside corner of one of our doors (the room door, not sliding door). So a little more vacuuming would be helpful. Found some empty cans inside a stairwell but the hotel was full and think cleaning staff had a very hard time keeping up. It would have been nice to get new shampoo/conditioner each day since the tubes are quite small. Beds were comfortable. During Harborfest, it would be really nice to have maps, brochures, tip sheets for ride prices, fireworks viewing, etc and people who know how to recommend where you're going. We ended up figuring it out since it's not a big area but it would have been helpful and saved a little time.
We came here to visit SUNY Oswego. Hotel very nice , clean . Nice view of canal and Lake Ontario. Good breakfast and has breakfast to go bags . Staff very friendly at check in/ out and breakfast. Comfortable, spacious room.
This was our first trip to Lake Ontario and we made an excellent choice for accommodations. My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Oswego in a lake front room. Although the parking lot for the restaurant was below, the view from the balcony of Lake Ontario was beautiful. We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony in the mornings and evenings. It is a very clean hotel and the staff is amazingly attentive to your needs. If you stay here, try Alex's Restaurant. It is a great place to eat. The food is delicious. We dined outside on the water front patio. It was very relaxing and the staff was great. You won't be disappointed.
We were here for 2 nights. Had a room with a balcony which was wonderful for viewing the sunset. We were upgraded to a suite as we are in their rewards program. This was great as there was more room for us to work (we were on a research trip of the area). It is very convenient to get to the attractions of the Oswego area from the hotel which is on the water. There is a nice restaurant, Alex, with outdoor seating, on the premises as well as the Press Box, a casual restaurant also with outdoor seating right across the street. We hope to return to Oswego again and will certainly try to stay at this hotel, if for no other reason that a chance to watch the sunset from a balcony.
We were very happy with the balcony and the exceptional dining experiences the staff was very considerate and the rooms were very clean. We recommend this place to people from out of town as well as locals
We only stayed for one night, but the room was suitable, with 2 queen beds. We took a tour of the hotel, and noticed the amazing fitness and pool area. We did not use the fitness facilities however, due to lack of time at the hotel. We stayed in room 431 - this room had a nice balcony overlooking the river and canal. Lake Ontario is also visible from the balcony. The room was quiet, and we could not hear any noise from the neighbouring rooms. Our hotel stay included a continental breakfast for two, which is was nice. Also, the room had a nice kitchenette (microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, and mini sink). Staff was courteous, and check in and checkout was fast and efficient. This hotel was a good choice for our one night stay in Oswego.
The hotel is on the water and close to all activities and trolly service. The hotel and surrounding grounds are secure especially during this annual festival. The staff are professional and courteous. The attached restaurant Alexs looked nice but we were unable to partake, it was very crowded and there was a private party too. We just had a few drinks at the outside bar then went to the fireworks at Britbeck Pk. I recommend this hotel it was very comfortable wait till you see the workout area!!
As I reported before: the main issues were the elevator was broken [temporary according to the desk folks] and confusion due to lack of directions to the restaurant. For this question, having to use at least 200 characters makes this a bigger pain than walking to our room!
First time to Oswego, we were in for a wedding. The staff was helpful and the room terrific. Comfortable and spacious. Balcony had great view!. Free hot breakfast was delicious. If we ever get back to Oswego we will be staying here!
The Best Western was awesome!! check in was quick. Our room and the view from our room was "Awesome" we got to overlook the river. We watched boats come and go. The restaurant Alex's was great. We ate outside. There was entertainment across the river so we got to watch it. It was a great band playing. Dont remember their name but we had a fun first night. The hotel pool was good. Hot tub too. The gym was a small but good gym. The continental breakfast was great every morning. Definitely would come back here again. The family enjoyed it immensely!!
All rooms at the BW here face the river, which is really nice, and they have tiny balconies so there's fresh air and wide view available. (The view is not THAT inspiring, however, and the air is usually damp in Oswego, but that's not the hotel's fault.) The facility seems relatively new and it's kept nicely clean. Staff are bright and friendly. The hotel features a small workout area and a two-lane lap pool. Relatively short walk across the bridge to decent restaurants and what the town offers for shopping. All this would add up to a really good place to stay, but there are clinkers. The price is high. This may be the best hotel in town, but the town is Oswego, after all -- not a destination. The place was barely occupied on both our visits, so clearly they don't want to compete based on price. (We heard that the Quality Inn, directly next door, is owned by the same person, so maybe he's winning the price competition after all....) The free breakfast is not horrid, as many are, but that's the best you can say about it. Other than the coffee, which is good. Scrambled eggs have no texture, bacon and sausage are mostly fat and salt, bread selection is uninspired. Heating / cooling units in the room are too energetic. Whichever mode you choose, you get too much -- had to shut the thing off to sleep, which was not ideal. If you want a standard hotel experience in Oswego, this is probably the best choice. But if you don't need to stay in town, there are hotels on route 31 a few miles south that would be better choices.
This is the most expensive hotel in Oswego. The rate is only marginally lower than hotels in major cities. One would expect everything to be above average, but it is only on par with most mid-range suburban hotels. The employees seem to be generally unhappy with things - many small group meetings where much grumbling could be overheard. I had to request service of my room and only received one replacement of amenities in three days. The addition of the extension to the original building made for a very long and time consuming walk from my room to the front desk, to go to breakfast, to get a trolly, to get ice or just to come and go. If there is an access door at the far end of the hall, the employees didn't share that information. There should be one. When I complained about the distance, no offer was made to change my room. The hotel was not busy, judging by few cars in the lots and no one at breakfast. Front desk advised us at check-in of the breakfast hours for the following morning, but ignored the conversation immediately preceding about our length of stay, leaving us arriving late for breakfast on Monday morning. No signs were posted, and since there was no indication they would change, I never looked in the info book for times. The hostess took pity and dragged out things she'd cleared away. Received a note on Monday night under the door about pesticide spraying "tomorrow", but the date was incorrect. Fortunately, I called down to clarify. The note only mentioned exterior spraying and to move my car, but as we left we passed the man with sprayer entering rooms. Fortunately, my daughter and I were checking out. If I stay in Oswego again, I will explore other hotels, though not the neighboring Quality Inn hotel, since I'm told it is under the same ownership.
The ownership of the Best Western also owns the Quality Inn next door. Which are the two largest hotels within the Oswego area. Management understands the choices are limited and shows that in there customer service, and customer care. When traveling wether for business, or with the family we just want respect, and to be treated fairly. After multiple trips to this property it has become clear management is not concerned with customer satisfaction. I do not traditionally post reviews, but this time felt it important to hopefully alert others so they would not experience the same service I did. There are other choices within the area, my reccomedation is to search out those properties.
Use all efforts to find a different property than the Best Western, or Quality Inn when traveling to Oswego The honesty, customer service, and actions of the staff are not representative of either of the hotel brands
Looking for a place to stay in Oswego,NY this is it. Walking distance to food and entertainment. Driving distance to the college. Unbelievable views of the Lighthouse. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
Oswego River and/or Lake Ontario views from every room. Typical Best Western Hotel which means staff was friendly, room was clean and breakfast was better than most. A whole host of newer restaurants along First Street were an unexpected bonus.
This is a great place to stay when in Oswego. Best location, Clean comfortable rooms and a wonderful view of the river front. Excellent Restaurant and full service health club on premises. Have stayed many times and will again when traveling to Oswego.
We stay here every year for work. It's close to everything and has some nice views of the water. Great fitness center and indoor pool. The restaurant has excellent food. Very friendly staff. The rooms have been redone with upgraded room decor with super comfy beds. Bathrooms have beautiful walk in showers. Very nice
This is not an awful hotel but the rating is based on a number of factors that are just not right. I have been staying at this hotel several times a year for the past 18 years and it has improved dramatically in that time after the fairly recent refurbishment. 15 years ago the hotel was damp and dirty but now the rooms and bathrooms are nice. But, this hotel charges ridiculously high rates most of the time. The hotel is in Oswego, not Manhattan, but charges rates not dissimilar to what you might pay for a similar type of hotel in Manhattan. Therefore, it should be judged against those rates Firstly, the good. The hotel has a decent gym and a better than OK restaurant, plus the location is very nice. Rooms are quite nice after the refurbishment. Now the bad. The breakfast is absolutely terrible for the rates they charge. Watery oatmeal, raisins that are so old they are completely solid, stale breads and rotting 'fresh' fruits. I don't dare try the meager selection of hot foods. The WiFi is very unreliable that it is a miracle if it works two days in a row which is very inconvenient for the business traveler. Even when it works the bandwidth is feeble. And did I mention the rates. Each time I stay here I wish there is a better option in Oswego. Sadly this is currently the best of the bunch but hopefully one day the promised Hampton Inn will open and provide some proper competition.
Honestly, I don't think anything could have made this stay better. I was in Oswego for a memorial service / family reunion, and we had a group rate. Even if we hadn't, though, I think the experience was well worth the cost, and the location is very convenient to everything Oswego has to offer. The entire staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming, from the front desk staff to the breakfast room staff to the housekeeping staff, every single employee I encountered made me feel like a valued guest. The night of the memorial service, my family (about 16 of us) basically took over the breakfast room and ordered in food. We were concerned about leaving a mess so asked the front desk if we could get some cleaning supplies to clean up after ourselves. They insisted we not worry about it, that they would handle the clean up. The rooms were extremely spacious, quiet and immaculately cleaned each day. The bed was very comfortable, and there were plenty of pillows to choose from. The bathroom was spacious and well laid out (note - my room had a large stall shower and no tub - be sure to check if you need a tub in your room). The views were fantastic - my 4th floor room had a balcony overlooking the Oswego River and Lake Ontario - just beautiful. Breakfast was much better than the "continental" breakfast advertised. There were scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and a waffle maker along with the usual continental breakfast fare. Everything was fresh and plentiful. From check in to check out, this was probably the best experience I've ever had at a Best Western property. Kudos to management and staff for running a fantastic hotel and making their guests feel welcomed and valued.
I traveled in for business and was pleasantly surprised that I had a room with a view. Every day I could walk out on to my balcony and see the river. Hotel was nice and clean. The one part I did not understand was the shower. It had no door on it, so the whole time I was using it, water was splashing on to the floor. Just weird set up.
I keep going to this hotel. I keep having a pleasant stay. This week, Angela and Zack at the front desk and Nick (bartender) and Nick (Manager) at the restaurant welcomed and pampered me. I will keep going there and so should you. It's a great place to stay when visiting or moving your offspring in for the school year. You can relax at the bar/restaurant outdoor fire pit on the waterfront or by the fireplace inside (depending on the season). You can relax in the pool or work out in the gym. Of course, these things are great whether or not you are visiting the college. There are plenty of reasons to visit Oswego and this is the place to stay if you do.
This hotel is always very nice to stay, this is our 3rd time staying at this hotel for a hockey tourney. The staff are always friendly and the hotel is always clean. The only problem we had this time was the floor of our room was freezing and I had to get some extra blankets to block the patio door as the breeze was coming right in. We had the temp up to 75 to keep warm. Our room was on the first floor. The breakfast was good and there was plenty to eat. The guys who plow the parking lots do a great job.
Great hotel!! Super friendly staff, clean spacious rooms at a very reasonable price. Our hockey team travels every year for away tournaments and this hotel has been the most accommodating and welcoming by far. I highly recommend that if you have a sports team looking for a hotel in that area you should stay there.
A great idea. Need more bar staff, and the restaurant needs to QA it's food before setting it out on the buffet. (Shrimp scampi was not a servable dish in my opinion) We also weren't able to sit with our group for dinner. We were at the table next to there's, but for the price, I wasn't happy that we had to eat with strangers. I do know that this was unavoidable, but this is my review.
So we were originally booked at the Home2 by Hilton in Oswego, but after being evacuated do to busted water pipes and the lobby ceiling coming down we showed up at the Best Western at Midnight! We explained our situation and that our some of our wrestling team was there and they immediately found us a room and gave us the team rate! We were in our room and our wrestlers were back to sleep by 12:30! The room and bathroom were nicely done but are your basic hotel room layout. The bathroom is a bit of a tight squeeze by the door, sink, toilet area! The shower was great though with lots of room to move around. We also had a great view. A little disappointed the gym wasn't 24hrs to accommodate the wrestlers who needed to get cardio in, but it isn't a deal breaker for us!! The restaurant had decent food, but it comes with the hotel price tag! Should we return to the Oswego area again we would consider the Best Western as an option!
Great hotel, excellent service, beautiful modern room! Very nice breakfast!! A little pricey, but you get what you pay for and this hotel is gorgeous!!! We will definitely stary here again on our next trip to the area!
If your looking for a good comfortable hotel in the Oswego area the Best Western Plus is a great place to consider. The rooms are comfortable, the staff is very professional and I will be staying there again in the future.
Great place to stay. Clean rooms, nice view, great location. Hotel has a restaurant/bar attached to it as well as a nice fitness center. Good area to walk around and is close to downtown. Most rooms have a view with balcony and the majority of the rooms have been remodeled.
I stayed her only one night and when I left I went to another hotel and when I got to the other hotel I realized that I left my cooler with three ice packs and MY insulin in it. I called the hotel that evening and I spoke to a customer service rep and she told me that the hotel did in fact have the cooler and would send it to me overnight that was a week ago and I called back last night and asked what happen I was told it wasn't there so it must have been shipped to me. I still have not received it and will now have to throw out the insulin!!
Very nice room! Very clean hotel, Had a banquet at the conference center and food was much better this year then last year. Good job all around ! They always seem to put money back into this hotel and it shows on how it looks!
Overall great hotel in an excellent location. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed. Many locations to eat in area. The gym facilities are also very good in the hotel. The motel restaurant t has a great outdoor area along the Oswego River
Great location with a great bar and restaurant overlooking the water. Good breakfast and nice fitness facilities. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Only negative would be that it is a bit pricey but would definitely recommend this hotel!
I found this hotel to be clean and in good condition, with a decent buffet breakfast selection for this type of hotel. The wifi was unreliable in the evenings, but ok in the morning. The staff were friendly and helpful. You can walk to the Fort Ontario historic site from the hotel, and the harbour location is nice. Oswego itself is no great shakes, however. I paid a discounted conference rate, but the hotel's normal rates seemed high.
Hotel is very nice. It is located on the river. Each room has a small balcony that you sit on and enjoy the view. Room was very clean, large and modern. Breakfast was included and had a decent variety of both hot and cold items.
This hotel was perfect. Great staff. Great rooms. Great view. Great area. Great breakfast. Great rooms. Everything was very clean. Friendly service. Great pool. Great hot tub. Great everything. Nothing but good things to say about this hotel.
We stopped in Oswego as a halfway point (sort of) on a trip to Niagara Falls. The BW Hotel in Oswego was a great location for us. Our room was on the far end of the hotel nearest the lake and we had a nice view of Lake Ontario, the Oswego River and Fort Ontario. The room was very nice and had an updated large modern shower. There was a nice pool but we didn't have time to use it. There is a restaurant on site which we did not have a chance to visit and a sports bar across the street. We did have the morning breakfast which was good and had a lot of choices. We enjoyed our stay and would choose this location again.
My agency just hosted our annual conference for the fourth time in a row at the Lake Ontario Conference Center/Best Western plus in Oswego. The meeting room facilities are top notch, fully equipped with state of the art tech, and the staff bends over backwards to be helpful and ensure a successful event. The location is a delight, with wonderful views of the harbor and the lake, and significant historic sites are located nearby, within an easy walk. The conference center features a wonderful restaurant on the lower level with a bar and firepit on the water's edge. The conference level also has a bar area that opens to the function rooms and has a great balcony overlooking the water.
Our room was very large and comfortable. However, we were within feet of the front door and lobby. Terrible noise throughout the night. Slamming doors and yelling in the halls. I understand that wedding parties tend to get out of hand, but hotel management should police its premises. Other guests deserve respect as well. Nice location but overall disappointing.
Nice enough select service hotel. Staff friendly. Good bed. Thermostat was easy to use which can be a rarity these days. I enjoyed the view of the water, I'm not sure if all of the rooms have it, but get one if you can.
I stayed 2 nights for my niece's wedding. We were all on the same floor. There was plenty of space for us in the dining area for breakfast, which was included and very good. The hotel was quiet so we slept well!
Our son attends SUNY Oswego so we stay twice a year. In August and October. Usually can't get s room in May. This year booked our May reservation in August. Nice hotel but have 2 night minimum for parents weekend in October and in May during graduation time and pickup time. Hotel also raises the price substantially during these times. Have redone breakfast area and bathrooms, clean and comfortable. No complimentary water this August, probably an oversight. Free breakfast is not bad.
Family friendly atmosphere. Plenty of amenities in surrounding area. Availability to walk, bike or drive to local destinations. Excellent, professional staff, friendly and courteous. Beautiful riverside views and short drive to Lake Ontario and SUNY Oswego.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff knowledgeable and helpful. The location is excellent for any family with a child attending Oswego State. walking distances to shopping and restaurants and bars.
Due to inclement weather, we stopped in Oswego NY Best Western and it was well worth the stop for some rest and to dry out. The room was great and the hot tube and pool were just what was needed. Hit the road the next day well rested.
Wonderful experience at this property. Everything about our stay was wonderful. Front desk was friendly and we had no problems at check-in. Room was clean, spacious, and we had a balcony with a beautiful view. We enjoyed sitting on our balcony listening to some entertainment (female singer) that must have been playing at the bar down by the water. It was a very nice relaxing way to spend our night after a day of driving!! Would totally recommend this place to anyone staying in the area. We have no complaints, only wish we would have had a little more time to fully enjoy everything the property had to offer!
staff was friendly, beds were very comfortable, shower had good water pressure, hotel and room was very clean, breakfast was early and had a nice selection, view from the room was just what I was looking for
Stayed here for one night on 6th of July as we were visiting family not seen in 32 years. Great beds and a good sleep. The fitness and pool area is one of the best I have ever seen for a hotel which was a great bonus. Our room overlooked the river which was nice. Check-in and check-out out was easy and quick. We didn't have breakfast here as we went out with family. Oswego is very small so location doesn't really matter. If we ever visit again (we live in New Zealand) then would definitely stay again.
We showed up too early to check-in right away, but while we waited, we struck up a lively conversation with Kira behind the counter. What a lively, friendly conversationalist! The 15 minutes we spent talking with her made up one of the highlights of our trip. The hotel is very nice - great location on the river near the mouth at Lake Ontario. Rooms clean and comfortable. Only complaint - why TV in the breakfast area was only turned on to Fox News each morning. Sad.
Everything about my stay excelent. Room was exceptional, staff was more then exceptional, restaurant location was the best part of my experience and food was very good. The breakfast was very good and the view from the breakfast area was exceptionaly pleasent.
Probably one of the nicer hotels in Oswego. Very clean, updated bathrooms. Every room has a balcony and a view of the river. My only complaint was wet blowing air conditioning and a very unhappy and unfriendly breakfast server, but the hotel manager remedied the situation by taking care of us herself. Restaurant is too expensive and their employees need more training on service. If we go to Oswego again, I would stay there.
For the past 20 years we have occasionally traveled to Oswego, NY for vacation. The Best Western is the best hotel we have found in the area. Modern, clean and bright with a great indoor pool, hot tub, sauna area. It is centrally located and has a nice view of the water. Great selection at the complementary breakfast too. All around an excellent hotel.
The hotel room was very clean. The bed was so comfortable. The employees were a pleasure and so friendly. I would recommend this hotel. This is out second time staying here for our anniversary. Would definitely do it again.
Well to say the least I am very disappointed with the two rooms we rented for this fishing trip. Having planned this trip for at least six months we decided on this hotel due to the proximate location to the harbor. Well the staff was very professional, but the rooms smell of cigarette smoke...even though a staff member was sent to our rooms with a can of Lysol spray. Very disappointed
Clean hotel. Good location, provides a few restaurant opportunities in walking distance. The pool / hot tub / steam room close too early, so check these hours before you book! If you have plans during the day and then go out to dinner, it's likely you will never be able to use the amenities.
Great location. Great people. I have stayed at hotels all over the world and for the price I have not stayed in any better place. Before coming here I had stayed at a hotel in Canada and the experience cannot compare to that of the Best Western in Oswego.
Came for a wedding in Mexico, NY and chose to stay be BW due to one member in our 4 was in a wheelchair. Accessibility was excellent. The view from our balcony was charming. Would stay there again. Thanks a bunch!
the Best Western Plus Oswego Hotel is simply the best hotel you can get in this area...period! The staff are friendly and helpful, the place is clean and well kept, the view is beautiful and relaxing. Now add to this it's location and the fact you have access to a gym, Jacuzzi, sauna and swimming pool and I don't see where you can go wrong or have a negative experience. I go there every Summer, and have done so for the past 25 years. There's a reason for this, it's that good and relaxing.
Very good restaurant with outstanding service. Nick the manager is awesome at what he does. Outside bar and patio is outstanding and well are the bartenders. Never have to wait for a drink. Great drinks and good prices. Their live music is worth the trip. Great view of the Oswego river and the lake. Plenty of outside seating. Very clean area. Very Helpful wait staff.
Just came back from spending 3 nights here. Loved the location - we were in Oswego to take our son to orientation at SUNY-Oswego. Based on reviews and pictures,it appeared all rooms had great river views. We had a room with the worst view which was a little disappointing. Especially since I had made the reservation many months ago. On check in, our room's mini fridge had complimentary water bottles which was a nice feature. We took them with us the first day and housekeeping never replaced them. Not a big deal but seemed chintzy. I requested a wake up call for 6:30 AM the day of the orientation. It never came. When I went to the front desk to report it, I was met with indifference and a very robotic apology. We had the complimentary breakfast which was not good. The waffle batter was sour. I mentioned this to a lovely woman working at the breakfast and she replied that she shouldn't have trusted the person who made the batter the night before and she should have made it herself. She did dump it and remade it, but kind of a weird comment. Maps of the area weren't readily available when requested. Eventually, one was found. We will be returning to Oswego and based on location, I decided to rebook here. I've been to other Best Westerns with no issues and figured this was just an anomaly. Checked out yesterday and during checkout I made 2 room reservations for an upcoming date for us and additional family. Asked for the rooms to be near each other and the front desk staff indicated that she would put a note in the system with this request. She indicated she would email me a confirmation. I didn't open up the email until this morning and discovered that the reservation was made for only one room. I called the hotel right away to double check that I was reading the confirmation properly and was told that there was only one room reserved. The 2nd had never been booked. Luckily, there was another room available, but really... What happened??? Get it together, Best Western.
Needed to bring son to college orientation and made our 3 night reservation several months in advance. Very disappointed on check in to have a room with a terrible view (all reviews/website tout beautiful river views.) Needed a wake up call to get son to his program by 8 AM so called the night before to arrange a 6:30 call. It never came. When I mentioned this to front desk staff, she apologized but acted indifferent. Complimentary breakfast was not good - the waffle batter was sour and when pointed out to staff (who was lovely) was told that she shouldn't have trusted the evening person to make fresh batter. Kind of strange. The AC was hard to regulate. Either freezing or we were sweating. On check in, the mini fridge in our room had free bottles of water. We took them with us our first day, and they were never replaced. I loved the location. We walked all over Oswego, close to restaurants and 'downtown.' We are staying here again when so starts college - willing to give it another try.
Best location and hotel in Oswego, hands down Friendly, helpful and attentive. Easy check-in/check-out with late check out option. Internet even worked outside, near the property, to enjoy the views of the river and lake while using it. Found all the staff to be well trained and very courteous. There were two large events this weekend and as a non participating guest, felt attended to. Would highly recommend staying here if in the Oswego area.
Fine Hotel with a wonderful view and conference rooms. Very convenient to take a walk, get on the highway, or go to Fort Ontario.Has a wonderful, caring manager and all the amenities that you need. Oswego has quite a history behind it and you can see all of them nearby to the hotel.
This establishment went above and beyond my expectations, Super clean, super helpful and friendly staff, made sure every seminar ran smoothly, I was very impressed, thank you for an enjoyable week even attending business meetings.
We had a great time. Room was perfect. Beautiful view. Staff went above and beyond. Breakfast was great. Especially the waffles that you make fresh. We were upgraded to a suite with a balcony. We would definitely recommend...
The hotel is right on the water. You can watch the boats go by. The rooms have balconies that have chairs so you can sit outside an enjoy watching everything happening on the water. There are a lot of restaurants near the hotel.
Everything about this hotel gets five stars, from the staff to the hotel, the rooms, the breakfast, Alex's on the Water Restaurant everything is perfect. I have stayed here many times and the service is always top rate, friendly staff, clean rooms, well appointed, and the view of the river and lake is like no other. I highly recommend this hotel.
Front desk and manager very good. Website needs improvement. Maid service needs improvement. Location is very good. Breakfast was very good (although the milk should be located next to the coffee, not on the other side of the room).
All huestbroom have a view of the Oswego River which is peaceful and interesting. The hotel restaurant/bar has an open air section decorated with little white lights and a high top table fire pit which lends itself well to group gatherings. The complimentary breakfast is extensive and continually replenished. The staff is caring and helpful.
This hotel is a great place to stay. You are in the center of the action. The breakfast is amazing and they kept it open to 11am, for one hour later than normal. The staff was great. The rooms are decent size but they are dated, as most hotels at this price range are. The views are excellent. I have stayed here before and it never disappoints.
Great hotel. A little pricey but it's worth it. All of the rooms face the waterfront. Fabulous restaurant attached to the hotel...Alex's has the best patio. Being on the waterfront and within walking distance to downtown shops is lovely. Great for families...there's something for everyone.
You can't beat the location. Plenty of dining options within walking distance. Nice view of the river. We stayed during graduation weekend and although busy, the hotel handled the extra crowds very well. I would recommend this hotel.
Stayed 2 nights for business trip. Spacious room, updated tile shower, fridge, microwave. I could hear talking in next door room. Haven't heard that in a while. Room also clean. Nice bar, friendly bartender Amber. Large fitness center. Good breakfast. Good place for business stay in Oswego.
Stayed here numerous times over the past few years. Great place for SUNY Oswego families to stay. Clean rooms, friendly staff and great breakfast included. Great pool, jacuzzi and fitness center available too.
Nice large rooms with good views of the river. Great location on the river, easy access to other parts of the town. Nice restaurant attached that opens their glass doors to allow boats coming up the river to dock and get food and drinks Would recommend this hotel to others
The place was wonderful. The food was great for both dinner and the whole conference.. The rooms were clean and large. All the staff were very helpful. Thanks for the great stay. Location right on the river is a plus. Next to a walking path. Weather was beautiful. The pool and work out room is one of the best I have seen and used. Would recommend this hotel to family.
Really great hotel with a beautiful view of the canal going into Ontario Lake. You can see this view from your room or at the lovely restaurant they have on the premises called Alex on the Water. Also has a nice town with lots of things to do around the area, especially fishing. Would definitely recommend this hotel as well as the restaurant.
great location and staff was excellent. staff was courteous and very helpful with various questions we had. very nice view of rever. purpose of trip was to visit suny oswego. convenient and quiet location.. breakfast was included in price and it was good would definitely stay here again when visiting oswego
Great for business trips. It is a bit pricey. Awesome views over the Oswego river. The hotel has a great gymnasium, swimming pool, hot tub, steam room and dry sauna. Cannot beat that these days. Restuant is very good as well. They are flexible because I was on night shift and they were till able to get daily maid service.
I was really impressed with how clean the entire hotel was. The room was very nice and comfortable with super fluffy pillows. Most of the rooms have a river view with a balcony. The attached restaurant, Alex's was awesome with a nice river view. In the summer I bet the outdoor seating and patio is gorgeous. I had 2 meals there and they both passed my expectation. I can't say enough good things about my stay.
First time I have stayed at this Hotel. The restaurant was excellent. They also have a complementary breakfast, which was perfect in the morning. I used the Wi-Fi in the evenings for business and the speed was very good. The bed is very comfortable and the rooms are kept very clean. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Wonderful hotel. Great staff very welcoming and helpful. Very large comfortable rooms with balcony overlooking the river. Fabulous health center with free weights, lap pool, and hot tub. Very nice restaurant on premises as well. Sports bar across street too Clearly the go to Hotel in this area
Was up here working an outage for Fitzpatrick. I was on night shift. The hotel staff was fantastic. They put me in a room out of the way and cleaned while I was working. The breakfast is bountiful and they usually have some left after 9 for those mornings I worked over. It looked as if the rooms had recently been remodeled.
Was charged full amount of $185 after having no heat or electricity in room, moved to new room at 11:30 p.m. only to have either freezing cold or sweating heat all night. Came for funeral of close relative and this made everything even more painful. Elderly aunt had to move twice in the night. Tried to talk to check out staff, could not have cared less. Paid full rate. Will never recommend this hotel. I would like my money back!!!
Great place to stay. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Nice room, great breakfast, friendly staff. Have stayed here before, always a great experience. Would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the upstate New York area.
We decided to stay here while visiting the area overnight. The hotel is either newly built or recently renovated. The room was amazing - clean and bright, the bathroom was contemporary, with a working exhaust fan and heat lamp - good water pressure in the shower. Complimentary water bottles in the fridge; buffet breakfast which was delicious - hot and plentiful. Friendly staff; plenty of parking. Will visit again.
This is a high quality hotel which never disappoints. Great, friendly staff. clean & comfortable rooms. Breakfast buffet has hot and tasty food choices. Beautiful view of the canal and Lake Erie. Will definitely return.
Can't wait to visit this hotel again when I have more time to explore. I had a wonderful view of Lake Ontario. So easy to find the hotel. Great parking. People at the desk were very friendly. VERY quiet.
My family and I were visiting a college near by and only staying for one night. Very nice place to stay, close to the school. Nice river view from our room, very quiet. clean, pretty room. The bed had a dip in the middle but the rest of the room was very nice. The breakfast was good with a good variety of food. Staff was very nice.
We were there for a wedding. What an amazing hotel. The rooms were really clean and the staff was wonderful. Everyone was helpful. The breakfast was really good. Would definitely stay there again. Our room had a view of Lake Ontario and Oswego Harbor. At night we strolled along the lake. The restaurant Alex's on The Water was really nice with an outdoor bar. We strolled through the town and everything is within walking distance. Would definitely recommend it.
Best western Captains quarters is convenient for SUNY Oswego families . It is clean and close to the school. The breakfast was decent . The staff was nice . There were some ants in our room but the rest of the room was clean .
This hotel is beautiful! The staff (particularly Kyler) was friendly, helpful, and courteous. We were there for a wedding and the staff did a great job with the reception. The food was delicious and presentation wonderful. I would recommend this hotel to everyone - the views of the lake are awesome!
We stayed here September 3rd for the races. It is beautiful hotel. Pool was very clean and warm. Hot tub and sauna were amazing. We never made it to the restaurant but seen lots of people entering. Our room was spotless with a beautiful river view. We will be staying here again next year
Okay, this place is charging consumers $200/night to stay on what they call 'waterfront Captain's Quarters.' This place is a joke. First of all, you have a view of a huge ship dumping salt from a giant crane onto a 50' mountain of salt on the banks of this waterfront. Then you have the radioactive city of Oswego and its views of a nuclear plant. With the money being charged with 2 and 3 weddings a day at your neighboring restaurant Alexandria's, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Hey Best Western, get real! $69/night is what consumers should be paying for your accommodations.
It was a beautiful view, Very calming to sit outside in the morning. The accomodations were spacious. The Breakfast Buffet has a lot to offer. It was also within walking distance to many downtown eateries
On a prospective college visit to SUNY Oswego with my daughter I booked this hotel online because it was a Best Western. I have stayed at many & have had great experiences and the costs are manageable. It was wonderful. Arrived about 8:30 pm and we welcomed warmly. The young man at the desk was very helpful. My daughter enjoyed swimming in the pool before dinner. We ate at the onsite restaurant. We were seated about a 1/2 hour before closing but were not rushed. We were given plenty of time to look at menu and relax. My daughter forgot a brush and asked the front desk about a place to get one (it was about 10:30 pm). He told us how to get to a nearby Walmart that was open 24 hours. When we returned from the store I asked about a late check out, since our college tour wasn't until 1:00, and was told no problem. We checked out at 12:30. The hotel is located right near Lake Ontario, at Oswego harbor. What a gorgeous view from our balcony!
We enjoy staying at this hotel when we visit our son and his family in a nearby town. Most of the rooms have a balcony and we enjoy watching the boats go by . In the summer they have free concerts across the river and this year we sat on our balcony and listened to the music. The Dragon Boat Festival was the weekend we were there and how fun it was to watch the fireworks from our room. The hotel is within walking distance of downtown and there are several restaurants close by.
I really enjoyed being on the river. The room was very spacious and comfy. The cleanliness was excellent. If going to spend a night away in Oswego I would recommend staying here. Was an added touch having bar/restaurant within the premises.
One of the best hotels I've stayed for business travel. The room was nice and there is the best workout center on the first floor. The location is convenient to several restaurants in walking distance. The view of the river was nice.
My family of four (spouse, 7 & 4 year old children), stayed over two nights recently (22 Aug - 24 Aug 2016). As a general rule, I don't hold high expectations for a Best Western; I regard them as a reliably clean economical road hotel. This particular Best Western however, is a notable exception. Here is a quick list of things to love about this property: 1. Location - if you are visiting Oswego to go fishing, you will NOT DO BETTER THAN THIS. Its right on the water! 2. Dining - Alex's is right in the hotel and the food and the view are great - We recommend the Chocolate Torte, its to die for. If Alex's isn't to your taste, there are several other highly recommended restaurants within easy walking distance, no driving necessary. 3. Rooms - good prices, nicely appointed, but not over the top; two queens, microwave, frig, coffee maker extra sink - perfect for a visiting family of four. Lovely, tasteful room details 4. POOL - We've been in a fair number of hotel pools; this was easily the best as the water temps for both the big pool and the water jet pool were adjusted to be compatible (ie; one doesn't give you hypothermia while the other gives you 2nd degree burns) great attention to water temp. Also features Shower, Sauna, Hot Room and easily access from the Gym. +++ The Pool Towels are actually regular towel sized - not the glorified hand towels most places give you. 5. Large, well equipped Gym. 6. The Continental Breakfast - Probably one of the biggest Complimentary Continental I've ever seen. Good food; very friendly and approachable wait staff. 7. Last but definitely not least. Staff and Personnel. Probably the most over looked and under appreciated of a hotel's critical elements in my opinion. The staff was always easily located, highly approachable, very friendly and professional; never loud, rude or disinterested. The room cleaning staff at this Best Western was quiet and very discerning; they never interrupted, they never imposed. They did a fantastic job of restoring order in the most unobtrusive manner possible. The attention paid to room 446 while we stayed there was impeccable. While the property and its amenities were wonderful, it is actually the staff that makes the stay so comfortable. If you are going to Oswego, I highly recommend that you give Best Western Plus Hotel and Conference Center a try!
This is a great place to stay in Oswego, NY. Great restaurant and great view of the lake and canal. The accommodates we top notch to any other hotel in this area. The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly.
Alexandria's on the Water at the Best Western Captain's Quarters was the PERFECT venue for our daughter and son-in-law's wedding. The staff from coordinator to bartenders to wait staff were amazing! There wasn't a detail overlooked or a problem unsolved. Even a last minute severe weather event didn't stop this professional team. Beautiful, delicious, attentive, and perfect... it could not have been better! Thank you all for making this day everything our family could have hoped for!
The best hotel I have stayed at in the past five years. The Staff were by far the most energetic, helpful and focused, ever. The self serve breakfast was of exceptional quality. The central location in Oswego was perfect for my needs while providing a great view of the harbor
Great Value for the Money...Excellent Breakfast. Staff was friendly...check in was a breeze. The River view excellent...plenty of parking. Love the adjacent Alexanders Restaurant/Bar. Extremely Convenient location.
One of the top four hotels in Oswego, that we stayed in during HarborFest and Speedway. All include a free breakfast and each has its pros and cons. The downtown Best Western overlooks the Oswego river, and has an inside pool and fitness center. Plenty of free parking, with a good, but expensive restaurant. Restaurant overlooks the water and has a bar with inside and outside seating, so particularly great on good summer days. Nice rooms but not readily available electrical sockets for electronics. Many of the rooms on the river side have balconies; these rooms have the best views. Hot and cold free breakfast. Most expensive of the Oswego hotels.
We were in town for one night and found this hotel near the college we were visiting. I was pleasantly surprised. Was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The kids loved the pool and the balcony overlooking the water. We did not eat at the restaurant located in the hotel but looked great and was packed with a lively nighttime crowd.
Nice people, clean room w/ view of water, better than average gym, and a Jacuzzi. Don't know if the location necessitates $160/night. I was surprised the attached restaurant did not serve cappuccinos, but there are places around for that sort of thing.
We stayed for one night for a wedding and the hotel was a wonderful surprise as we tend to stay at only Marriott properties. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the river; it was clean, updated, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was adequate. The hotel was a happy surprise located in the heart of downtown Oswego!
I have traveled to Upstate New York (Buffalo and Syracuse areas) for over 30 years to visit family and this Best Western Hotel is the #1 on my list! The staff is professional and friendly, and incredibly they get better every time I stay! The rooms are very nice, and each one has a beautiful view of the Oswego River. The breakfast is included and covers all the basics, plenty to suit all tastes. As a woman traveling alone at times, I can comfortably say that this Hotel will make you feel safe and welcome. All this is great but what puts it at #1 for me is the pool and fitness center. I'm a lap swimmer and the pool is perfect for me, but trust me the fitness center is terrific too! No worries about wait time or outdated equipment. As a bonus, Oswego is a really nice little college town situated on Lake Ontario, well worth the travel time to visit. I highly recommend this hotel.
I have stayed in this hotel quite a few times. It has the most beautiful view of the water and the view is even better from the restaurant attached!(Food is great as well) The hotel is clean, the staff is great, the breakfast is delicious and the beds are amazingly comfortable!!! I would highly recommend this one!
Wanted a room from 442 up. Was given room 440 which looks at a fence hiding an a/c on the roof. When ask for a neww room was given a regular room at the same charge. Stayng here for the past six years had no bearing and the accomandition that I recieved.
Was in Oswego for the Independence Day Parade and Fireworks! I was bumped out of my Superior King Room with Large Balcony and Lake view! I was put into a Double Queen, Mobility Room, with Balcony and Lake view. Alisha was honestly trying to make the best out of a BAD Situation. Alisha truly is a great example of a caring, professional staff. Housekeeping works hard at maintaining the property. The Breakfast Specialist maintains an Immaculate Breakfast Area. Great variety of breads, bagels, Muffins, Danishes, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Hard Boiled Eggs, Seattle Best Coffee, Great variety of dry cereals, Yogurt, fruit, 2 Belgium waffle machines, juices(orange and cranberry), 2 four slice toasters, nice layout. This property is right on the river(eastside). The Lake and Oswego Harbor and Port right there. Dockage for boats in front of property. Easy walking distance to several restaurants. Checkout Alex's on the Water! Kate the manger worked with me on a couple of Hotel Comp items. Shelby is a great server. Alex's is so nice to sit out on the river and in view of the Lake. The food is good and they have a nice selection of drafts. Open spot so kids are good. We stayed in the newer section Fourth Floor with Large Balcony looking out on the Lake. River view rooms are available with a Smaller balcony. I spoke to Assistant GM Jenn about my disappointment about the bump and she worked with me on scheduling, room, and rate adjustment for Harborfest. They care! Pool, Steam, Sauna, Whirlpool, exercise is nice. I'm giving them a second chance! I'll report back. Give them a try! There are quite a lot of room varieties, and views. Be Particular!
great view over the water great breakfast very clean top notched hotel staff are friendly and welcoming great pool sauna and whirlpool also fitness centre great new bar to relax in Alec's enjoy your stay here
Very Good hotel. Location is excellent, enjoyed the view. We visit this town a couple times a year, and have stayed at the hotel several times. We have our favorite places to visit in town as well as visiting friends. The hotel is an excellent location to do all that we want to do in town. The view from the deck is great any time of year.
Room was fine, mattresses were hard, lumpy and extremely uncomfortable. If you are looking for a good nights sleep at a decent price, this hotel is not for you. The gym and pool had outside membership and were overcrowded when we tried to use them. New bathroom was nice, but did not make up for the mattresses being soooooooo uncomfortable.
Aaron at the front desk greeted us by name the moment we walked in. That feels really good after a long day of traveling. Katie was helpful taking and noting a specific change of type of room request earlier in the day. Upon our arrival, we had the room we needed, the travel discounts we qualified for, and our keys ready for us!
I came to Oswego for a Hockey Tournament and reserved a room about 3 weeks in advance. When I checked in, I only had 1 credit/debit card and funds for only 1 night on it at the time. I had my partner call with another credit card but they had already given my room away! When I went to complain they smiled and said sorry ....hotel policy...etc. All the hotels booked now... we will have to return home.
Nicest hotel in the city. Overlooks the river/harbor. Nice walking paths nearby. It is a little pricey but probably worth it. They have added a conference center so it is quite large for a city the size of Oswego. I would recommend it.
Personable & helpful staff...very clean comfortable rooms...the food in the restaurant was delicious and great amenities with awesome views. Would definitely stay again if in the area...the bad news here is trip advisor is requiring a minimum of 200 words and so i am filling out the rest of this to meet the requirement
We visited our nephew nearby at SUNY Oswego and stayed here based on the reviews and the indoor pool for our two kids. The staff was great....we were greeted by two smiling employees (and young lady and a young man) at the desk who were cordial, friendly and helpful. They asked if we were here for a certain event on site and when we said "no" they gave us great input on choosing quieter rooms away from the night time event since we had young children. The room was clean and nice with a balcony and a view of the water. Complimentary water bottles in room fridge. Awesome abundance of super comfy pillows!!! Just one thing......lotion and conditioner bottles were less than half full which made me wonder if they were left from last guest. But my husband and kids just stared at me when i mentioned it so maybe its just me ! Lol We headed down to the pool. On our way we passed more friendly employees and the LARGEST fitness center we havr EVER seen in a hotel! Pool was great! Immaculately clean pool, deck and modern decor. PLUS..... a sauna AND a large hot tub AND a steam room AND a shower all right in pool area. Kids had a blast and we enjoyed the large hot tub. Again....met two more employees who worked in pool area who were welcoming and very sure we were being safe in the pool/fitness area. Had a great night sleep. Breakfast was hot, fresh and nicely spread out so you werent on top of each other. Standard free-breakfast foods but plenty of it and served by a kind, smiling hardworking lady. Restaraunt attached is called Alex's and boats can dock right there. Its november so the outdoor area was closed but the inside bar/restarant is all glass and on water. Looked very cool as we took a stroll past. Price was more than we typically pay for a room but was the best value for the money in the area. That part of Oswego was definitely not as modern as we anticipated so we were surprised all the hotels were a bit pricier than we expected. We are VERY glad we chose Best Western Captain's Quarters and recommend it. Thanks!
i had read in a previous Trip Advisor review that the Internet was spotty but saw a response by the manager that it was temporary. During my stay it appeared that the wi-if didn't have enough bandwidth,so I'd say it was still spotty. The rooms were clean upon arrival but the housekeeping during the stay was less than adequate. Used coffee cups weren't removed. Pillows that were on the floor remained on the floor etc. Overall an average experience. But nice view of the river and the attached restaurant was decent.
My family and I spend a weekend at The Best Western Plus Hotel in Oswego, New York. We had a wonderful time, our two rooms were beautiful and everyone that worked there was very sweet, helpful and so accommodating. It was just perfect.
The hotel was a perfect place to stay when visiting Oswego - the best hotel in town! Great view of river feeding into the great lake. Free breakfast was just right to fill me up! Pool facility also looks great but did not have time to use it. Great place to stay when visiting SUNY Oswego too!
My experience was comfortable. Nothing special but was clean, attentive which is all you want anyway. My big grip which is what all the hotels do is when there is a special event like "parents weekend" they up the price real bad. They take advantage of the customer when they really have no choice to stay there so they could be part of their child's college event -unless they go stay in hotel way out of town. And it doesn't help to book far in advance-I asked. They have those dates already plugged in a year in advances. Breakfast was good although I wish they could have more gluten free options. Eggs, fruit and bacon is gluten free but it would have been so much nicer to have been able to have toast, waffles, muffins etc like the other customers. tough always having to eat bacon and eggs when in hotels. I know there is cross contamination factors to worry when cooking but they could purchase frozen with no baking-just separate toasters etc.*Also notices regarding possible cross contamination would protect them.*
Just stayed there this week. Not my first visit and not the first time the front desk personnel (esp. Aaron and Dan) and housekeeping personnel (Judy and Michelle) went out of their way to make my stay even better. The Restaurant--Alex's--continues to be a best bet for dinner. Christina was the best! and the new Manager, Patrick, came by to see how we were doing.
Clean. Pleasant staff. Quiet & comfortable. What more can I say? One side note; DO NOT waste your time or money in Alex's On The Water Restaurant, which is connected tot he hotel. I have written a separate review of that establishment.
The hotel is clean, well maintained, and located very close to Ft. Ontario and the City Walking Path. It's a nice place. The wifi service however is abysmal. It doesn't always accept connections, especially in the evenings, and when it does, it runs slowly and cuts out frequently. I would not recommend this hotel for business travelers, but would recommend it for travelers who do not require internet wifi service.
Sept wx was great, motel sits on inlet to river system; facilities were good and service was better; Oswego has some historic sites and family style businesses. Would gladly stay again if future trips bring us to this region.
I knew I wasn't in for a 4-star experience at the BW Captain's Quarters. True, it's the best located hotel in town...on the river in view of lake Ontario. True, it's also probably the most upscale hotel in town (not saying a lot). But for $150+ a night, one should get something better than sloppy service and mediocrity. The internet? Pathetic. Intermittent service. Sometimes you'd need to log on 4-5 times a day. And "high speed"? Dial up is faster. There's a free continental breakfast each morning. But the clerks don't tell you anything about it when you check in. They're probably too busy. (During our three day stay, the teenage staff was on the phone virtually all the time...talking to friends.) The breakfast room is so poorly designed, you'd be hard-pressed to select anything. Looking for a clean table? Bus it yourself. And if you're expecting top-notch housekeeping? Guess again. Beds are haphazardly made, towels are thin and never in the same place twice. And the housekeeping staff all congregate outside on the main floor several times a day for group smoke sessions. If you absoluterly must stay in OSwego, I guess this is the best. Keep your expectations low, however, as you'll be disappointed otherwise.
The hotel is probably one of the best in the area from what I've heard. It seemed pretty good. The hotel was going through many renovations and seems to be updated with modern technology for your stay. The Hotel has great amenities, such as Alex's on the water which is a pretty good restraint attached with good food and drinks and a wonderful scenic outlook that I was able to relax in front of. The gym is also better than most hotels with a lot of equipment. The equipment is very old, but still works. Overall, a good hotel experience for the area. I recommend it.
We always stay at The Best Western Captain's Quarters when we go to Oswego, New York for supermodified car races. It is the best place to stay in Oswego. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are very clean because they have excellent housekeeping service and it's location is ideal.
