We chose this hotel based on other reviews, location, and attention to the comfort of their guests. This review is for a client of our ministry that we put up on this hotel for one night. The security and family type atmosphere was a critical part of our selecting this hotel. What is particularly outstanding was the staff who made sure our client had everything she needed, and worked with us to make sure she was safe and secure. The next morning they printed out her train ticket and assisted with getting her to station. If want to stay at a hotel where the staff is genuinely concerned about their customers and quality of their stay, this is the place.

The front desk attendant was very helpful and friendly and so was the staff. The beds are comfortable and you can't beat the price. It's located in a central location of Olathe and everything is convenient

Would not recommend it. While the staff was great, the facility was not. Ceiling was cracked in the room. Hard flooring was installed improperly. The beds were extremely soft and unless you like sleeping in a bowl, I would stay away. Slid into the middle of the bed and woke up and had to move up and out of the center. Very poor sleep quality.

Clean. Quiet. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Adequate parking. Reservation easy to make. Check in was easy. Room was obviously old but everything worked. Housekeeping did a good job. Breakfast attendant was friendly and helpful.

As a single guy, when traveling through a city, sometimes all you want is a clean place to sleep. Nice facility, clean and very comfortable. I will stay there again...it's very good value for the money.

When we arrived, the only room available was a smoking room, which I would have never requested for myself and my daughter, as we both have allergy and asthma issues. We were placed in the back of the hotel, which appeared to be where people were making their permanent address. Listen, I get it. Lord knows I have struggled in my life, but I do not feel Best Western wants their brand affiliated with a flophouse-style hotel. Out of breakfast at 8am on the second morning of our stay. Odor in the room from the smoking was atrocious. Bathtub looked like it was fifty years old, and baseboard trim was coming off the walls in the bathroom. Otherwise, the room itself was clean, bed was comfortable, and staff (besides the initial check-in staff) were pleasant. But, I'm sorry, I would not stay here again.

First of all this was a motel, not a hotel. The room smelled stale like old smoke, even though it was suppose to be a non-smoking room. There was hair in the bathtub where it had not been cleaned. The floor was dirty and made my feet black. We had checked in early, but did not go to the room until almost 10 PM, so too late to do anything about it. I would not stay there again, and may not stay at another Best Western hotel.

Extremely rude employees they act as if you are inconveniencing them when you ask them a question or trying to check in. Rooms are in the middle of being renovated. Doesn't exactly have a safe feel, looks ran down from the outside. If we could have gotten in to another hotel we would have left now we understand why this one had openings.

Entrance to rooms is on exterior of hotel. Rooms were clean, no bugs as previously reported by a traveler, breakfast was very good! Door chain and dead bolt are flimsy. Didn't feel safe resulting in poor night's sleep. Wasn't worth the cheaper rate

Our stay at Olathe Sure Stay was acceptable. The staff and lady in charged of breakfast were great. The exterior of the building could use repairs and paint. The room could be cleaner-especially the floors. The price was rather expensive-higher than normal. Probably due to being Memorial weekend and a big softball tournament being held that weekend.

Awesome stay, they really made my stay like I was home. Really recommend staying. No traffic, lots of restaurants and stores close by. The breakfast was very good. Coffee maker in room and a microwave, plus a refrigerator. Made my 5 day very easy. Thank you, made my trip a lot easier.

The staff, mainly Tracie and Jeff, are awesome. The property is well-lit and clean. The breakfast is always hot and ready in the hours they say it will be. The cleaning staff does an amazing job on the rooms. My only complaint is with one of the staff members, Scott. I came to the hotel after being let go from my job and he was complaining about having to work 14 days straight. I looked at him and said at least you have a job and are given the chance to work 14 days straight. I was just let go and don't have the money to keep paying for my room after this weekend. This is not the first time I have heard him complain about something. I personally would love to take his place if I wasn't in the middle of getting my CDL Class A license and living out of my personal vehicle.

Tracie is wonderful staff she went above and beyond helping me and has a wonderful attitude and very professional! Jeff is a great staff and Chad is also very nice overall the breakfast is amazing stuff for the price you can't best it. It's clean rooms and the room service actually does their duties. This is the dirtiest room I have stayed in in years. The shower was full of someone else's hair. There was lipstick on the ceiling and the bed was very stained. Everything had been hastily updated with a thick layer of drippy paint covering the walls and doors. The smoking and non smoking rooms were so close together the smoke came in anyway and a very strong fragrance like undiluted fabuloso had been used to make the dirt room smell clean. The smell of the “cleaner” itself was enough to give me a headache.

Very friendly hotel. Great location off of I-35 If you're looking for a budget hotel, this is a great option. I would say this hotel would classify as an updated motel. We will definitely stay here again on our way to Arizona

The front desk staff was friendly, helpful and gracious. The room on the 2nd floor was ample size above the front desk and it was clean, but the floors were a bit dusty. Breakfast was simple, but better than expected for the cost of the overnight stay.

My elderly mother and myself stayed at the Olathe Surestay 2 nights on way to MN and 1 night on return trip. Our room was clean, appears freshly remodeled, even had a hand towel/ washcloth which had been folded in a decorative fashion as if we were on a cruise. Jeff carried in our luggage on both stays. I was totally shocked. Never see this kind of service at high priced hotels. Nice hot breakfast on the weekend. Tracy was very helpful at breakfast. We will definitely stay there again next trip! To top it off nightly rate was terrific!

Called reservation number on internet and it turned out to be Booking.com which was not explained to me and that is a separate issue. Was on the phone with “reservations “ when we finally located the property, very uncomfortable with outside look of motel, after midnight, ask to cancel reservations (had 2 rooms), would not cancel. We never went inside the rooms and the rooms could have immediately been rented to someone else. Do not feel the motel lost money since we never used the rooms. Talked to the manager that night and he was not accommodating, kept saying if we would have come inside we would have seen how clean the rooms where. That was not the issue. It was the uncomfortable unsafe feeling I had being on the property. We have stayed in lots of Best Western facilities and had stayed in one in Oklahoma on this same trip.

This was my second stay at SureStay Olathe. This time I brought my wife with me for her first trip to the KC area. We were treated extremely well, once again. We felt our room was very clean, spacious, and secure. Management was, once again, super friendly and went above and beyond to be helpful even for perceived problems. (I was hanging a Do Not Disturb magnet on the outside of our door so my wife could sleep in, and the main male manager (owner?) came jogging down to me offering to help open my room door thinking my card may not be working). Staff cleaning rooms and maintaining the grounds were friendly as well. This stay was even better than my last. While everything may not be 100% perfect in every aspect, you see and experience a staff valuing guests and trying to give them the best possible stay here. This SureStay continues to be a bargain gem for staying in the Kansas City area. Would come back again as a first choice, without hestitation.

My husband and I were on our last two nights of our nearly month-long road trip and in our hotel search the night before online, we tried to get into another Best Western in Olathe but nothing available so decided on BW Surestay. The hotel is located not far off the freeway but is really tucked in at the end of a small street behind two other businesses and it is an older building, not sure what it was before being the Surestay. This is a no frills hotel, small lobby and "dining" area. The desk rep was pleasant during check-in but he should have stated that if we needed a hair dryer, you needed to ask for it. The size of our room was okay, with King bed and 4 big pillows, comfortable enough, very poor lighting, plain furniture, small couch and table, desk and chair, flat screened TV, small freezer (did not work) in refrigerator, no clock, no tissue box, no towel rack in bathroom area. For an older building, it looked like the room had been repainted and new wood-look tile flooring probably in last couple years and was clean. I know the Surestay brand is the lower tier of Best Westerns; this was our first time in one and was okay for the night, but IMHO I've stayed in other higher tiered BW for less $$ than this one and in better condition. I only grabbed a yogurt for breakfast to eat on the road as they only had a waffle maker and grab bags to go; we'd already had coffee in our room.

Not what you'd expect from the Best Western Brand & the price charged. Spend a little more for better hotel in area. Not in safe area, sirens all night & very noise guests from midnight to 4 am. Random people around bldg - not guests. Nothing worked right. Shower went hot/cold. Tub wall peeling, could see in to wall by shower through large hole. Room had odor. TV cable work didn't work. Seriously-stay some where else!!

This place should be an embarrassment to Best Western. Let me count the ways: ugly location, noises, tiny room, no light in bathroom, clerk unable to replace it, no hair dryer, rip off price for the night we were there. Do whatever you can to avoid a stay here.

This hotel has always been good to stay at. The front desk has always been helpful. Any thing that you need, they are more than happy to accommodate you needs. The staff we have been in contact with has always been helpful.

Like Bestern Western Hotels. Had a $10.00 off voucher and wanted to use it. Girl at desk said she would have Jeff do it and would not charge the room til it was taken care of. Next morning Mr. GRUMPY was at the desk and curtly told me Jeff had not come in. We had breakfast and left. Few days later the full amount was charged. Last week I called and talked to Toni who remembered us and said she thought it was credited but she would talk to Jeff and get it fixed, Today is the 20th and still no credit!!!!

Staff was exceptional. Jeff was very helpful and engaging making the stay that much more pleasant. Room was very adequate and clean, but a bit dated. Location is good with quick access to major interstate access.

This hotel is currently understaffed, and it shows. The man at the front desk was obviously having a bad day, and said that he only had one person cleaning rooms. When we went to our room, the sink was filthy, and looked like someone had dumped dirty mop water, or the plumbing had backed up into it. I went back to the front desk, and was given a key for a new room, which was fine. When I went back to the front desk to have my husband's key recoded for the new room, the man at the desk acted like he was going to lose his mind. Our group of 3 were the only ones checking in at the time, but it was evidently too much for him to handle. I have stayed at Surestay hotels before, but have never been treated so rudely anywhere. We will not be staying here again.

Good: Economical price. Good water pressure and plenty hot water when showering. Bad: Front desk lacked basic customer service skills (possibly due to a shortage of help). Floor by vanity and bathroom in need of a good scrubbing. Hair in tub. Dead insect in bed. TV had very snowy picture. Ugly: Looked like painting was done in an extreme hurry since there was paint on hardware and splattered on floor.

Wasn't expecting much judging from the old reviews, but WOW! Hotel is very nicely remodled and despite being short staffed, everyone was pleasant and provided exceptional service. Eva from Housekeeping was amazing.

Good, quiet night of rest. Staff was friendly, price was cheaper than i would expect for this motel. Probably the nicest surestay's i have stayed at in the last few months, the quality is probably better than a lot of best westerns.

Both men at the desk were always helpful and friendly. They now have a pancake maker in the breakfast areal. Water and coffee are always available. Room was comfortable and we were happy with the location of the room.

We come to Olathe every Christmas season for work; multiple weeks. This is the ONLY place we will stay! Jeff ALWAYS takes great care of us; he goes above and beyond what we would expect; continually checking on us and helping carry luggage, etc. The rooms and property are super clean, and we feel very safe coming in late. We will absolutely be back.

This is the only motel that my wife and I stay at. All of the staff are very professional and friendly. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The king size beds are the most comfortable beds we have ever slept on. The staff knows us by name and treats us like family.

Old property with small rooms, small bathroom, bathroom door practically hits the toilet , uncomfortable beds, poor TV's, exterior entrances. Breakfast was nearly nonexistent. A lot of exterior noise during the night.

It was clean, staff was nice, very affordable. They let me check in early, free breakfast, large rooms and great amenities. Great location and quiet for being so close to the interstate. There's laundry and vending and even a blow dryer upon request.

Room was nice and clean, staff was nice and friendly. I give this stay a 10 and would recommend to family and friends. We was as so pretty close to a lot of things to go and do. Mr. Jeff at the front desk was very helpful.

This is a very old property but they are remodeling. Small things like paint and new furniture. My bathroom door was broken due to pet damage, there was construction tape in the bathtub, and the tub constantly ran. Room 222 was mostly clean, working AC, and I received clean towels during my 2 night stay. They did not clean the room or change bedding though. I moved a chair and nightstand and there was dirt under them but not a huge issue. Limited breakfast due to COVID. I would stay here again based on price.

Jeff at the front desk is awesome. I am a non-smoker ,and the room I was booked into was a Smoking room.Jeff at the front desk took note of my issue and moved me to another room, he personally showed me the room that was available. Great Customer Service.

Unexpectable treatment to client from morning front desk staff. I made an request for breakfast item which he responded with offensive screaming gesture at me. Secondly, when my aunt called for the early morning check out steps, this staff answered " What do you want, I am very busy here".

It's an older hotel/motel that they have remodeled. If you're into fancy places, this isn't the place for you. We were looking for a quiet clean place at an affordable price and this was perfect for us. Place was clean and quiet, all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Had good water pressure in the showers and sink.

He is awesome at his job , very professional with excellent people skills , which is rare these days with the breed of people walking this earth . Need more human beings like him for sure . Great job on finding this gem of an employee!

The beds are awesome, memory foam. Price is right, quiet and peaceful! I was greater very warmly by Scott the next morning. Jim was awesome and thank you for going above and beyond checking me in!! I suggest anyone stay here

The people were nice, and the property is in need of updating. However, there were burn holes in the sheets and dead bugs on the bathroom floor. The a/c worked fantastic! Which was important being August in MO.

This was one of the last stops of a 2400 mile round trip. the service was good and we had a pleasant stay. It was an older facility of the Best Western chain and was , of course, not up to the standards of a Bet Western plus hotel.

My son was traveling from Myrtle Beach back home to Denver. I know that being on the road with his gf and dog had been exhausting especially when it was hard to find a place to stop and rest. I ( mom) called the hotel directly and spoke to a gentleman that was extremely polite and helpful. He helped my son arrange to stay the night there. My son was very grateful and loved the hotel.

I have had the best luck with constant and consistant help from the house keeping and management; Jeff here at the Olathe location has such a friendly and approachable attitude; and you can tell the pride and dedication he puts into his job. Always ask for Jeff!

"Non-smoking" room reeked of smoke! I even smelled like it after leaving. If this wasn't a short rest stop while transporting a car, I would have left. Switching rooms didn't seem like it would have improved things... The place was dirty, and some of the cliente/visitors were questionable. There was some sort of transaction going on between a man and woman outside my door at around 2 AM. I parked my new car near the front entrance for fear it may get damaged or broken into...

Absolutely wonderful service. He was nice enough to bring me my towels to the Room late at night. It was a very pleasant stay. I would recommend it to any of my friends when if they come into town. Thanks again

First off, Jeff at the front desk is friendly, personable and professional. Jeff always remembers my name and knows my favorite room. The rooms are very clean and amply supplied with lots of fresh clean towels. The beds are so comfortable with lots of pillows. I like to come to this Sure Stay to take a break and and just breath.

Chad was the clerk who checked us in. He was very helpful. He showed us the pamphlets for attractions in that area. The room was clean, fresh However, in the bathroom there was someone else's hair in the tub that we noticed when we was taking a shower. And the advertisement says free breakfast. But it was a lunch, something u would get in elementary school. The location its self was ok, but it was in a run down part of town. The turn off of the highway was dangerous, extremely poorly Designed sharp right hand turn and the hotel was behind a dealership. Leaving the hotel was inconvenient as well. Bad location

The front desk was not only friendly but very informative for someone who never been to the Kansas City area. Their breakfast wasn't so great, however, it couldn't be helped because of the COVID issue. They were breakfast in a bag still better than nothing at all. Their bed was so comfortable and relaxing and rooms get warm very quickly since some of the days were cold. I would definitely come back again and stay at this hotel!!!

My husband and I were very pleased with our stay. Very accessible semi parking and great rate for truckers. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Nice sized T.V and couch in room were a plus. Chad checked us in and he was so polite and professional. Will definitely be back in the future!

This Hotel has great staff. Friendly and willing to everything they can to make your stay a pleasant one. Front desk, Scott, Jeff and Chad are great. James, the Maintenance guy, who also does housekeeping when needed, is a friendly man, who will go out of his way to help any guests. Housekeeping staff are awesome as well.

Excellent customer service.I was helped by Jeff & Chad. Rooms are very clean.looks like the hotel was remodeled!Very close to the nearest gas station close to all the restaurant. I had food delivered.I'm right next door to the laundry facility.they have grab n guh o breakfast,everything I need and the prices are very affordable Very comfortable here

We came to town for a family gathering. Our room was very comfortable. Any time I had a question or request the staff was very helpful and quick to respond. Location was close to lots of restaurants and other conveniences.

I had a reservation through a third party for a room at sure stay for a week. Unfortunately I had to cancel at Sure Stay and go to a different hotel. I contacted Jeff the next day about my refund and he determined that the third party was responsible for that refund. However the third party was not agreeing to do so ! Jeff worked with Sure Stay to get a refund for me . He was able to tell me the refund amount and date I should receive it. Thank you Jeff

Jeff has went above and beyond during my stay here. I asked if he had known of any organizations that could help with my housing, and about thirty minutes later Jeff provided me with a print out of several pages of different resources, organizations that could help. He hadn't known me, but he showed compassion for another human being in distress. Another instance, Jeff came to my room to install a new phone bracket because the phone hadn't been working. He is a top notch guy with impeccable customer care! Jim the maintenance guy, as well as Gabrielle the housekeeper have caring hearts as well. Very attentive to your needs. Above and beyond!

I really like the hotel Jeff the worker Is a grate and hard worker he does his job he is a really good man some of the other workers dont do stuff but jeff will get the job done and right I believe he should get a raise

I stayed here and it was for a extended stay due to Corona, anyway I was here just under 5 months, yes I said 5 months while I was relocating to a new apartment. I will say that Manish and James the maintenance man treated me well during my stay. I'm a Veteran, and I felt like one while I was with them.

I have been doing a lot of driving and a lot of last minute hotel booking. Jeff has been the friendliest, most accommodating gentlemen I've met. Super grateful for his hospitality. Super clean and great customer service.

Excellent service!!! I stay here every time I am in Olathe! Jeff always hooks me up. He is amazing!!! I come to Olathe for business at least twice a year. Jeff has paid attention to when I am here by myself or with my partner, and sets me up appropriately.

This hotel defines the meaning of ghetto/rat trap motel, disgusting inside and outside. Building is run down, room smelled of cigarettes. I only stayed the night because they ready charged my card. Do NOT entertain the thought of staying here!

Wonderfully updated & renovated rooms, but not paying for unnecessary frills! ‘Frig & microwave in each room, grill inn parking lot, ice vending, A/C, big TV, nice beds, can park small campers for less price than a campground. Great customer service.

I stayed at this hotel last week due to the convenient location near my work. I booked my stay online, the photos look fairly good. The actual appearance is much worse, my room was terrible. I can't really describe how bad this facility is and I encourage you to avoid it. Of course, there was no breakfast due to COVID-19, but also no coffee or juice or anything. There are other options nearby, stay away from SureStay.

We arrived around 6 pm and found the entrance door is a steel security door with a window in it. There is a very large dumpster taking up most of the front parking lot - it appears new when contrasted with the appearance of the motel. Jeff, who initially checked us in was excellent and gracious. There has been a lot of painting done lately, as evidenced by paint splatters on windows and outside walkway. The lighting in the rooms is not adequate for seniors with diminished vision. We had to walk past a beat-up sofa with a broken leg sitting in an outdoor walkway to get to our room. The walkway is uneven and has very old indoor/outdoor carpeting of an indiscernible color. The room (in no smoking hotel) smelled of old and stale cigarette smoke. The flat screen TV was very small - we did not turn it on to see if it worked. We did not stay overnight because we discovered we had not packed some life-sustaining medications. The service we booked through is willing to return our money, however Rodeway will not refund it. Scott, who we called to find out about a refund, was to call back, but we waited several hours and he had not, so we called again. We were told he had gone for the day. We will not be staying at a Rodeway Inn ever again.

The room had been remodeled but the work was sloppy/substandard through out the room and around the building. Shabby lobby - we did not have breakfast there and the breakfast selection was very limited for Choice Hotels. There was a broken window in our room and we could see this in other rooms. The peep hole in the door had been painted over. The neighborhood doesn't feel safe. It smelled like mold - we did not want to use the shower. Several long term "guests" that were a bit noisy. The vending area had mountains of "guest" laundry piled around. The building has major structural issues - you can see cracks in exterior walls/walkways and you can see where concrete floors have a definite slope to them. There were a couple of locals hanging around the lobby that were chatting with a staff member. Priced too high for what you get or don't get. I will never stay here again. The gent who checked out before us said, "I've been thrown out of better places than this...." Totally agree with that statement.

This motel has gone thru some much needed updates. Rooms are all new and fresh with new bedding, paint, carpet, furniture and TV! It's a really nice room and you won't feel like your staying in a 70's motel room! As always, the staff was friendly and helpful :-)

This has been our 3rd stay here my husband has to come here for cemo every 3rd week it has easy access to the room the hotel is getting a major makeover I believe it will be a very nice place when done the desk clerk has went far and over with kindness and so helpful, the whole staff is so considerate thank you all for making a bad trip so comfortable for us

Bad customer service made a booking on the choice hotels website that says room will be held until 7am the next day. After making the booking called and asked if that would be ok if I come in a 6am the next day to check in. Was told that was not the policy and they could not do this. It says it on the booking that you can and in the booking email. They did not even attempt to address my concerns just simply spouted off the internal policy. Not happy with service. I stayed at this hotel well over 50 times going back to the days they were Days Inn. This will be my last time it will be more expensive and less convenient but at least the service cannot get worse.
