The hotel has a lot of potential but is looking very tired. The staff are really friendly and helpful but the facilities are a let down sadly. The room was very hot but I was able to get a fan at reception which made it bearable, this was not on a very hot day so I wouldn't recommend going in the summer. The window only opened very slightly so there wasn't much chance of fresh air. There were a lot of cobwebs on the ceiling but otherwise the room was clean, just dated. The lock on the door didn't feel very secure and didn't double lock which was a worry as a solo traveller. There are some nice grounds to walk around outside but no pool as stated on some booking websites. I didn't eat dinner at the hotel but breakfast was fine, a small selection but had everything I needed.

Stayed in the annex room across from the main hotel. Dated, mouldy, dirty with cobwebs, mice running around outside as we walked to the car. Wardrobes not secured to wall, dangerous for kids. The staff in the restaurant at breakfast time were rude and miserable. Stunning grounds and ok breakfast, only positives. Avoid

Pros: The staff are lovely and the food, including the buffet breakfast is excellent. Cons: In our room, the carpet, sofa and armchair were filthy. Also the window frames were rotten and falling apart. There was only one way off our landing. A door labelled fire door was, in fact, just a cupboard.

I came here to propse to my partner as they have stunning grounds with a beatiful secret garden, they have amazing top class spa facility that contains all that one would need to wind down and relax and that is only amplified by the friendly open enviourment the staff make just being themselfs i would recommend this to amyone who needs a high quality relaxing weekend without breaking the bank Big thanks esspecialy to the check in staff for being friendly and informative and aproachable i would seriously recommend 10/10

Horrible hotel , Windows don't open due to locks so too hot in room carnt breath , mould round the shower seals , dust everywhere in the room , the bed sheets had a foisty smell , do not use this hotel make them aware they have to sort these problems out don't give them custom , ypu are just getting robbed because they don't care

This is a Sunday lunch review. The lunch is superb. We ate it outside on a beautiful sunny afternoon. The grounds are stunning and they have a fancy spa area. The hotel itself has lots of charm but some of it looks like it needs some money spending on it. That should not detract from our Sunday lunch experience which was superb/ the meat was tender, the vegetables crisp and fresh and the gravy was homemade and full of flavour. We were too full to try any other courses, but for the mains, someone in the kitchen clearly knows what they're doing. It's great, do yourself a favour and check this place out. Lovely staff too.

Rooms insanely hot. No air con. They don't have any fans. I asked for one at reception and the member of staff (who was sat in front of a fan enjoying the cooling) told me this. The windows of rooms are tethered and only open a crack. Mosquitos get in if you open it so you take a chance getting bitten to pieces. Breakfast room has a pile of dead flies in corner. Would never use again for these reasons. The bar is ok and food is nice. But if you cannot sleep comfortably, what's the point?

What a super hotel, so quirky with lots of different reception rooms, all of differing sizes and could be used for different occasions. Set in a woodland setting with walking paths around the disused golf course and featuring a super spa with hot tubs (one outside) a sauna and a plunge pool. The afternoon tea looked excellent and I wish we had the opportunity to have one. The facilities were excellent and the treatments offered were enjoyed by myself and my friend. The staff were very polite and professional and most helpful. The staff in the hotel were also very friendly and professional, from the reception staff, bar and hub staff to the housekeeping ladies. All in all an excellent stay which I would hope to repeat particularly after the completion of the ongoing refurbishment.

We were allocated a room in The stables which was perfect separate seating area lovely walk in shower in the bathroom patio doors from the bedroom, only concern the pillows very Very Hard !! Breakfast was very good every morning no complaints, ate in the restaurant one night which all was fine except my pizza which was very bland!!

We stayed at Hall Garth Hotel on an overnight mid week stop over to Scotland. First of all, I have to say that the staff we encountered at this hotel were fantastic. From the reception staff to room cleaning staff, they were friendly and helpful. We booked the four poster room which was lovely and full of character. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic and included in our room rate. We ate in the bar area and the food was very good and reasonably priced. The drinks were also reasonably priced. Yes the hotel is looking tired in some areas and could do with a bit of updating or modernising but overall we thought this was a lovely little hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we are in that part of the country.

First things first. The Hall Garth is a 3 star. It is what it is. Yes, it's a bit tired. Yes, a £1m makeover would do it the world of good, but that's not going to happen is it? Our room was comfortable and very clean if somewhat dated. We took a bar meal in the evening and very nice it was too. The breakfast was excellent and had the added advantage of wonderful views across the extensive grounds. The staff throughout were superb, very friendly indeed. The biggest drawback was the bar lounge area. Whilst the actual bar was modern and well stocked, the seating area is a terrible function room with no atmosphere Wouldn't cost a lot to redesign this, subtler lighting, turn the local radio station off. The hotel building is somewhat run down and needs maintenance. One of the things that originally attracted me to this hotel was the dining facilities. The restaurant looked very appealing yet it was only used for breakfast. I was not used in the evening despite the fact that it is right next to the kitchen. Instead we had to have an evening meal in the 'Hub' which was not a great place to eat in comparison to the restaurant. The Hub' was more like a canteen. And the evening meals were not up to standard. the soup of the day was the same every day, the beetroot tare-tare was just a pile of chopped raw beetroot with a radish on top for which I was charged £9. I complained that this was poor but no alternative was offered. The steak pie was tasteless with rock hard pastry. The food was definitely the cause of the low ratings I have given. This hotel has such potential to be very good but it is being poorly managed.

Stayed here for an awards event. Arrived mid afternoon . Check in from 3pm. Large screen in main , comfy bar . Good selection of beers , lagers etc. The evening was in a large room, with 3 course meal . The waiters/waitresses did a sterling job. The food came out promptly & was hot. Once our awards were completed , resident DJ provided music until late . Breakfast was fabulous . Wide selection of hot & cold food, fruits, pastries, drinks . The conservatory has lovely views over the golf course. The hot ingredients are most definitely high quality , I suspect locally sourced & of superb quality. Minor issue,,,the plates need to be warm. They are cold! Superb breakfast otherwise. Rooms are in desperate need of spruce up, however , bed linen & towels are pristine . Kettle supplied & a few toiletries . The windows are dingle glazed & very , very draughty . Not sure if it's listed but they let the rooms down greatly . Overall, great value, lovely staff , fantastic breakfast . We will happily return.

We had the most amazing spa break and absolutely loved every minute of it! The food was incredible, and the staff were all so friendly, welcoming, and attentive — they really made our stay special. Our room was gorgeous and so comfortable, and the spa was absolutely beautiful. We were lucky enough to almost have the whole place to ourselves, which made it feel extra luxurious and relaxing. The highlight for us was definitely the outside hot tub, especially in the evening when it got dark — it was magical and such a lovely experience! If we had to mention one small thing, it would be that the bar was quite quiet with not much atmosphere, although that was probably because the hotel itself was very quiet during our stay. A bit louder music would have added to the vibe, and it would have been lovely to have some refreshments available in the spa area too. That said, we had an absolutely fantastic time, would 100% recommend this place, and would love to come back again soon

The hotel itself is quite run down and shabby, but the main issue was with my room which was in the stable block and which had no hot water in the morning. This was a problem shared by other colleagues staying in the same block of rooms and was over two separate days. I was told by staff that this is a known issue when lots of people are using the showers. The main hotel seemed to be ok but be warned that if you have a room outside of the main building you may have issues. Staff were very friendly and accommodating and the food in the restaurant was very nice but unfortunately I could not recommend based on the issue with the hot water.

Already stayed at the hotel before lovely people running it really nice breakfast only down side was the children running amok in the bar area using it as a adventure playground not the staffs fault it was the parents fault obviously they think it's all right for them to do it that bad we had moved elsewhere in the hotel even the staff glad when they left

Personally I don't think the room was worth with what I paid , I've stayed in so much better air bnbs - for cheaper , no hot chocolate in the room , no biscuits, no option to see what was for breakfast - no information in the room , dirty stains on ceiling, stain on outside of the bath , old cigarette left in the drawer where the hair dryer was . Stayed in room 50 . Also when I checked in I was told “if you smoke or vape in your room you'll be charged “ I'm not even a smoker. It's just not a friendly approach- why not ask guests if they are a smoker first ? That made me feel cross tbh! Bed was comfortable however and it was quiet and lovely view outside . I wouldn't stay here again for this price .

Booking was easy. The welcome was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Although we did not find the information online, we were grateful to spot slow chargers for our EV without the need to go off site. Good nights sleep and car ready to go in the morning. Job done. Repeated again the next day.

Upon arriving at the hotel, the foyer gave a decent first impression. However, things quickly went downhill. At check-in, we were met by an unwelcoming receptionist who provided little to no information about our stay, the facilities, or what was included in our spa package. We had booked this as a relaxing spa break, which included afternoon tea, access to the spa facilities, and a back, neck, and shoulder massage. Sadly, the experience fell far short of expectations. Afternoon tea was disappointing – the bread was stale, the scones were heavy and stodgy, and the restaurant itself was far from clean. The carpet was filthy (see attached photos), the tables were dirty, and overall hygiene in the dining area left much to be desired. The only redeeming factor was the girl serving us, who was friendly and helpful. The spa experience also lacked any sense of relaxation. We were greeted by a staff member with facial piercings who didn't even offer a basic welcome. Instead, we were abruptly asked, “Are you booked in?” – no smile, no greeting, just a cold tone. Attempts at small talk were met with indifference. When we asked about ordering drinks, we were snapped at and told we could, but would have to come and collect them ourselves once ready. The massage itself was disappointing. The therapist (the same person who greeted us) left the lights fully on during the treatment, which made it impossible to relax, and the massage bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. Thankfully, another staff member took over after the treatment and was kind, welcoming, and brought us drinks without the attitude we had encountered earlier. Dinner, served in the same restaurant with the dirty carpet and tables, was okay — nothing special, but the girl serving that evening was lovely and provided great service. As for the room — a complete letdown. We stayed in Room 31, which had a generator outside that was so loud we couldn't open the window. This made the room unbearably hot. To make matters worse, there was a fire door right outside that made an awful creaking noise every time it moved — it honestly sounded like a cow in labour. Between midnight and 3 a.m., the noise was constant, and we barely got any sleep. What was meant to be a relaxing spa break turned out to be the exact opposite. The hotel is clearly run-down, cleanliness is an issue in several areas, and many of the staff (especially those front of house) were rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional. Overall, a very disappointing stay — we left more stressed than when we arrived. Would not recommend.

Room we stayed in nothing like the pictures on the website. Hotel was rundown and in desperate need of an upgrade. Location was lovely but hotel inside lacked any atmosphere and overall cleanliness was very disappointing. Carpets a trip hazard, lifting up and puckered in places and badly stained in common areas (Orangery) where we had breakfast. Water marks on some ceilings and some areas old and tatty looking. Basics lacking in the room and customer service from reception staff very disappointing. You get cleaner rooms and better value for money at a Premier Inn. Not the standard I was expecting for a luxury spa break!

Very run down and bad value for money. Would NOT recommend. We came to Hall Garth for a celebration weekend but we were greatly disappointed with the quality of the rooms and the limited facilities. The rooms were run down and dirty (nothing like the modern rooms advertised) Our bath was disintegrating with the side of the bath coming apart leaving sharp edges at knee height. There was a burn mark in the centre of the bath and when you ran the sink the water came bubbling up through the bath drain. The room was very hot and the window didn't stay open (it had to be chocked open with a small block of wood). The room itself was very very small with the bed being very short (definitely a small double not standard) The spa was a massive disappointment. There is no longer a pool on site so facilities are very limited. Half of the facilities were out of order or not turned on when we arrived (we still had to pay full price). The cold plunge pool was broken and when we arrived the sauna wasn't even turned on (this took over an hour to heat up). So the only facilities we could use was 1 outdoor hot tub and 2 indoor hot tubs (NOT WORTH THE FULL COST) Multiple people in our party had a terrible treatment experience with a staff member being unprofessional. The treatment was supposed to be 25 mins but they spent more time talking than conducting the treatment. The only good factor was the food. The quality and taste of the food was fabulous. Jennifer (our server) was so friendly and did everything she could to make our time great. We had to pay to use a free lounge space for a small gathering and were charged £75 (originally quoted £150). We had to chase them multiple times to clear leftover breakfast dishes from the room and to clean prior to our hire. Overall I would not go back as the quality of the facilities are not worth the cost paid

Trivago and the like still advertising this with a swimming pool been twice before turned up in cossie and bathrobe for swim was told abruptly our website does not show a pool.She was rude 😒

The room was clean and tidy, but could do with a lick of paint on the bathroom door which had paint peeling off at the bottom. One of the plug sockets was not working, and despite it being a good few years since COVID, they still have a notice in the bathroom relating to those restrictions they had in place at the time. Outside of our room was the ventilation system for the kitchen which was left on during our first night. We did not get any sleep because of this, and the rowdy guests who were slamming doors, talking loudly, making cups of tea and taking showers until the early hours of the morning. Not something we wanted after a 5 hour drive. We were offered an alternative room but were told they have a wedding taking place later that day (Sunday) and that the alternative room would be in-between two sets of wedding guests. Hardly a useful alternative if you ask me! We would have expected the hotel to notify us at the time of booking, or as soon as is reasonably practical thereafter, that they have a wedding on site. We would not have booked if we had known, as this went on until quite late, which again lead to another sleepless night, what with us having to put up with another set of rowdy guests. The ventilation system was again on during the second evening, yet staff denied this was the case when reporting it. No apology was given after they discovered the unit had again been left on after the kitchen closed. We had breakfast which was a self-service format. Tea and instant coffee were the only hot drinks on offer. Hot food was stored in heated racks, and due to their size did not hold many items. There was only one member of staff on duty, covering everything from meeting guests, showing them to their tables, cleaning tables and taking their food orders. If the kitchen can offer bespoke food options, then surely, they can cook to order. At least that way you are guaranteed your food to be hot, and not Luke-warm. Overall, a disappointing experience for what we paid and for what we would expect from a hotel of such grandeur.

Just had the most amazing experience at Hall Garth hotel and our wedding. You cannot fault this hotel for their dedicated attention to the customer experience. Kelly along with all the bar staff, and the receptionists were absolutely amazing, nothing was too much trouble, their attention to detail was sublime, the ceremony room and reception room looked out of this world and made the wedding a 100% success. Kelly went above and beyond in her help, to keep everyone entertained, catered for, and we couldn't have asked for more. The food was amazing, no complaints whatsoever. Steve was incredible, running around after my wife, being the wedding organiser doing absolutely everything to make the day as special as possible. Poor bloke was run ragged! doing a 14-15 hour shift! There were over 150 guests at the wedding who were ALL in agreement, the wedding venue was stunning and beautiful with the smallest details completed. (the good weather helped) My wife and I agreed there was nothing missed from this wedding and nothing more could have been done to make it the tiniest bit better we are so grateful and forever endebted to Kelly, Steve and their team for knocking this special day out of the park for us. I seriously recommend if you are thinking of a wedding venue don't pass this one by.

Stayed here for three nights, it's dog friendly, the room we had wasn't too bad, the bed was comfy. The bathroom wasn't so nice, full of mould and a bit grubby. No information given on services or breakfast times etc. lovely views and walks. , just a bit tired looking and messy around the buildings. One morning it was a help yourself breakfast then it was a plated breakfast. Breakfast was quite nice. Most of the staff were pleasant.

The room was hot and stuffy. Food was average and overpriced. Advertised as a spa hotel,there were 3 hot tubs ,some ancient gym equipment which cost £15 a session extra. Was told the pool closed 2 years ago . Complete washout.

Wavering between 3 and 4 stars. Let me explain: Pros Room and breakfast tables spotlessly clean Lovely staff Good location Nice grounds Car parking easy 1 fan provided in summer Cons Room was like an oven. It was warm when we visited (NOT) the heatwave. Window only opened about 3 inches (& someone in their own could hurt themselves opening) 10.5 tog duvet !!!! No wonder we couldn't sleep on night 1 and at 130am took the duvet out of the cover. Breakfast- day 1 orders a ew things instead of full English but one item was missing. Also they didn't double up on anything so not much. I kind of expected a coffee machine like in a sister hotel but it was just drip coffee. Nice but no choice. No hot Choc in either room or at breakfast. Rooms are not serviced during stay. Makes some sense but had we started 3n or more I would have run out of toiletries Tip to visitors - we decided that this is probably much better place to stay in cooler times! Tips to hotel in hot/warmer weather - 2 fans per room, summer duvets, ensure windows are safe to open and can open more. Look into breakfasts when only order a few bits. Would we stay here again? Yes but 1.not in warmer a weather and 2. Might prefer to eat breakfast elsewhere

Not the best experience - young lady in the bar was not very welcoming. Fire alarm in th emiddle of the night - nightporter did not complete a check on guests to ensure we were all out - alarm was reset and we just assumed all was ok and re-entered the hotel.

The stay as a whole was poor. Really tired place needs some time and money spending on it. Very noisy at night, doors banging constantly and people running in the corridors made it difficult to sleep. Reported to the reception but nothing stopped. Internal phones didn't work. Just generally an unpleasant experience and one I won't be replicating. The only reason I gave it a 2 is because of the bar staff. It was an expensive stay, try something different if want to come to this neck of the woods. This is barely a 1 star hotel.

the room doesn't look anything like the one in the picture, it was tiny and not a 4 poster.. the windows don't open more than a little and tbh if they did I think they would fall out as all the wood around them has gone mouldy and falling apart. This is no use during a heatwave.. and not even a fan let alone any aircon in the room. I ended up having to leave during the night as I couldn't cope with staying in the room any longer.. when I raised my issues with the security that were on duty they just said it is hot everywhere there's nothing anyone can do about that!! One pillow each person..? not even any spares.. The food is exuberantly priced, not much in the way of choice.. and what I did have I think McDonald's could have done better I don't think I will be going again.. and the positive reviews? were these people paid to write them?
