Only had 3 days in Albany, would need more to take in all the local attractions, The hotel was clean and had all it needed, only complaints was the restaurant was not open thru our stay and was a little too far out of town to walk to to get any meals.the staff were pleasant.
Would highly recommend this hotel to visitors to Albany. Owner and staff extremely pleasant. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. Will be staying at this hotel again during our next stay in Albany. Next time I will be definitely be going in the summer time though. Very wet.
I love a motel that is crisp and welcoming. Everything is working order... smiles from staff and positive attitudes about the motel, the area and life. It's a pity the property is on a slight rise; the angles caught me a couple of times - my dumb bifocal glasses - I meant to stay one night. I stayed two! Shame the restaurants are all still mothballed... new times!
Good amenities. Helpful staff. I mentioned that the TV was not working properly and the staff promptly replaced it. Kitchenette had sufficient basic cutlery and crockery for our needs. Close to town. Easy to get around. Close to shops ffff
Alway treated like a valued customer, and everything is done to ensure a pleasant stay, I would and have recommended Sure Stay Hotel, Best Western the Clarence on Melville to colleagues and friends and had friends stay with you and enjoyed the experience.
A comfortable room to retire to at the end of a long day's drive. Little luxuries were available if wanted. Parking available directly outside room. Very reasonable rate. A late arrival enabled us to access our key from the front reception entry through discussion with the motel.
Very basic hotel but fine for a night, we were placed next to workers and they were rather noisey but management happily moved us which we appreciated as had an early start the next day. Room was clean and tidy. Would recommend if you're not after anything fancy.
We needed to sleep overnight during our progressive fishing trip during peak season. Friendly reception took care of all our requests and we had comfortable stay. A big thanks to all at the Clarence on Melville.
Great staff - super helpful receptionist. Room very clean and bed very comfy. Great location with easy access to town. Could do laundry easily which is so handy when travelling. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Albany.
Stayed late November 23.... couldn't complain about anything. Yes, no breakfast available, but we did know that beforehand (Fridge/toaster/microwave all in room) so, toast/coffee for our breakfast. Bed top class, room cleaned to high standard, good laundry facilities on site. All in all, no complaints from a "mature" British couple exploring Australia & wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Great value for money. Would also like to say, what beautiful place Albany is, so glad we included this on our tour........ a gem of a place in Australia.
Friendly welcoming staff Clean Rooms , great beds decent linen hot shower with plenty of water pressure no problem recommending yet to disappoint have been staying here on & off for 10 yrs great value AAA+
All you get is a room and internet. No breakfast or meal was available with no options nearby to get food if you don't have a vehicle. The room was very dated but clean. The shower pressure was excellent. The noise level was high due to guests cars being parked right outside the doors. Lots of car door slamming and conversations.
Rooms were very clean and fresh smelling Staff were awesome Needed an extra key which wasn't an issue Rooms serviced to a high standard every day Staff made it very clear that they were there to help in any way
We found the room comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was free but continental style. For those seeking something heartier a diner is nearby. We requested a room on the first level and got it. This was the first time I heard a nearby freeway. Perhaps on the western side of the building it might have been quieter. We were both very tired and slept well.
Spacious clean room. Amenities in room functional - fridge with small mini bar, toaster and TV. Walking distance to town and surrounds. Easy parking at your door. Friendly reception. Affordable rates.
We arrived late and no-one was at the desk and we were left for ages trying to sort things through a dodgy intercom. Luckily other guests came to our rescue and phoned for help. The room is clean, comfortable and spacious and we had a good sleep. The shower is brilliant. The kettle wasn't working so couldn't have hot drinks and 2 main sockets also don't work which is a hassle. We told them of the issues but they didn't really seem to care. Regardless, we would happily stay here again.
Staff were friendly, very helpful & very clean rooms. Will stay there again and tell others about this venue. Booked at late notice. Felt safe at night car parking relight at your door and it's in a good location.
80's styled room that's big, clean, tidy with a firm and comfortable bed. Parking right up against the room is good for packed vehicles. No main road noise, did not make use of reception or restaurant. Friendly staff.
We arrived very late due to a car breakdown but our keys were available and rooms a comfortable welcome. Each of the 4 rooms my family occupied were very well equipped with microwave, mini bar, fridge, kettle etc. we thoroughly enjoyed the days we were at The Clarence, the reception staff were extremely helpful, friendly and always there to help. The location is excellent for walking to shops and The Dome for brekky. A little way perhaps to the beach but after a good Australian brekky, the walk did us good!
Great value and exceptionally clean and spacious rooms. A little outdated but very quiet given it's close proximity to Albany Hwy. No on-site meals available but super close to town centre where choices are varied.
A family member had to cancel due to a death in the family. So sorry to inconvenience this place for such an unscheduled occurrence. Refused point-blank to cancel & refund. Compassion is so sadly lacking nowadays. Offered to re-use within 8 weeks (NON peak period), hmmm christmas holidays soon, have to book another flight from the eastern states, obviously don't have a sense of what time of year it is. Maybe have 4 weeks to reschedule work-leave, book new flights, hire-car, etc. before their peak season. I guess with this mob you need to schedule family tragedies & book accordingly, so as not to inconvenience them. Other hotels that were booked for adjoining timeframes were extremely accommodating for our circumstances.
Staff are friendly and very helpful. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Great location. Rooms are set up well if you are travelling for work. The restaurant/breakfast was not available which was the only negative. I would stay here again.
My stay has been totally unexpected and I knew I would receive wonderful service at Best Western: my stay here has surpassed my expectations, from the moment of my arrival when Simone welcomed me like a long lost Friend, to my beautiful room, full of ambience. The Room overlooks the Stirling Ranges and seeing the Sun rise over the Ranges is a beautiful way to start the day. My room is so very quiet and the bed is perfect to sleep in!
Location to town centre was fantastic. There is plenty of parking. The rooms and beds are large and comfortable. The spa bath was relaxing. Overall the room was very clean and the additional furnishings were very comfortable, microwave also in the room plus kettle and small fridge. Very friendly & happy staff.
We had a great nights sleep. The staff were super friendly. We were close enough to town. We went out for dinner at 1 restaurant & then onto another establishment for dessert & coffee. Sharing the love around our home town
We spent 3 nights here. The room was well presented. Comfy bed. Great water pressure for the shower. Linens laundered on site so very fresh and clean. About 1.5 km to shops, petrol station, McDonalds, The Dome and Red Rooster , a little further in to town centre. Would definitely stay here again.
When I booked this hotel and I went online and the reviews where good, it stated that yes we have a restaurant here, and have Foxtel in the rooms. Well shock horror yes they have a restaurant but its closed , due to lack of staff, and no Foxtel in room. If you are going to advertise this then have it there, do not sell something that is not available. The room was clean, and bed comfortable but is ageing needs a refit
Aging motel. Very clean. We had a comfortable king bed. Weird plastic feel to the top sheet that held the heat. Old clunker air-conditioning. $145 per night so you get what pay for. Nothing wrong with this place, just nothing special either.
Fantastic Fantastic the staff go out of their way to make sure everything is what you expect. You happy and helpful. The place to stay in Albany!!! Quiet comfortable relaxing and located well with easy excess to town centre.
This is a great value motel. Yes, it's a bit old and dated (which is no bad thing). Rooms are a good size. It's not really close enough to town to walk, but it's very comfortable, lovely beds, absolutely spotless, milk in the fridge, and the friendliest staff. Everything works, and the shower was amazing. Fantastic water pressure. I'd go back just for that!
Reception was super friendly! Location was great! Room was clean and although i put do not disturb (we stayed more than one night) when i walked past house keeping they checked whether we needed anything extra and everytime i passed gave a friendly greeting! A great stay!
Fantastic, Fantastic and the best place to stay in Albany. Down to earth, friendly and make you feel so much at home. They are a true breath of fresh air. The staff go out of their ways to ensure you have everything you need and more.
Bed was old and tired. Pillows should have been thrown out years ago. Was clean and tidy but really showing it's age. Needs a complete room makeover . Staff very nice Price fair but can't get past the old bed , old pillows and could hear next door peeing and there bathroom fan going off and on.
Really nice place very convenient to town, with clean well appointed room. Check-in was very friendly and efficient. I would stay here again. Ample parking. Close to city centre. Takeaway chicken virtually next door if that is your thing.
Easy check in, clean and tidy rooms with everything you need and an added bonus of a spa bath. Pretty quiet to say on a main road and had no issues with noise at all. Walking distance to a great sports bar (in swing) couple of minutes drive into town and the main sites. Would deffo recommend. The red wine in the room was delicious too !!
Over priced for the age & level of maintenance. Location is good but as already stated the daily rate if way too high for the product being offered. Its simply a lower priced unit & it was billed as one of the top / premium units
The staff at the Clarence are second to none, I have stayed here a lot over the past 5 years and nothing is too much trouble for them, always smiling and welcoming, they're Ike my second family when I travel to Albany.
Such a lovely place to stay with the service soooo good and the rooms are so spacious. The beds are very comfortable and the upgrade here is wonderful. If you need anything they are on to it straight away for you. Wonderful staff.
This hotel delivers everything you expect for a motel in this price range. While nothing special, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it. The staff were always helpful and polite and we were very comfortable during our 4 night stay.
The accommodation is very dated and in need of a face lift, however it is clean and all the features in the room work, it is just that the green furniture is quite polarising, but if you can overlook the green paint, the rooms have great block out curtains, comfortable bed, nice tv, and old but working air conditioner. Mini bar, kettle & toaster with basic crockery and cutlery. Iron/ironing board. There is no room safe for your valuables. The website states that the rooms have a microwave, but our room did not have a microwave? Adequate room lighting. Parking is right outside the unit. Guest laundry is available as well as express breakfast packs. The check-in was very warm and friendly and additional requests were accommodated for.
I have stayed at this establishment many times over the years and the new owners are doing a great job. Everyone was welcoming, friendly and helpful. The location is great and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
Overall, this place is clean and well situated. Clean basic rooms and friendly staff. Easy to get too and nothing is too much trouble. I'd love to see this place again, once the owners have had a chance to put their stamp on things.
Rooms could be updated especially the ac units. Old and can be very noisy depending on what room you get. Comfortable beds and good water pressure in the shower. No reception after 7.00pm so if you have a problem the person that answers the phone after 7.00pm basically tells you nothing can be done.
The Best Hotel to stay in Albany in My opinion. With the new owner for what they have done to the place is so wonderful. Fantastic and helpful staff that go out of their way. Great rooms and great food either room service or in house dining and a fabulous breakfast. So comfortable and so quiet.
Very happy with the our stay at the Best Western. It's within walking distance to shops and the main town area. All of the staff were very friendly and our rooms were cleaned thoroughly. Best we've stayed in Albany.
Best friendliest staff everrr!! Older style motel but well maintained. Great comfy beds. Well located close to centre of town. Great for family weekend stay. We visit Albany quite often and this is our go to.
The staff here is what made my stay amazing. I ordered room service most nights and the food was delicious, the chefs were very accomodating and just very friendly. I think Cathy or carriage at reception was just a great person, she made me feel comfortable, she checked in with me on the last night to make sure I had everything I needed and she explained all the necessary amenities I needed perfectly. Thank you so much!
Very outdated rooms, carpets are old and need replacing. Chairs have seen better days and need replacing. Overall,it's overpriced for the kind of room that you end up having. The bed was comfortable and clean which was I was thankful for considering the rest of the room.
Old Motel, was very clean, decor old fashioned but everything worked well and beds were comfy. Handy location. Has its own restaurant and the food is pretty good. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Just think it is overpriced for the age / decor of it.
Booked in last minute over Christmas and took the only available room, their spa suite. Very friendly front desk, lovely big room, comfortable bed and big bathroom with a good size shower in addition to the spa. Piping hot water too,. Not always something to be taken for granted in a motel. However, signs of ongoing renovation abound; for clocks all reading totally different times, some things on the bedside console not working. Room service slack.
It is a basic motel type property. The rooms are good sized and were clean. The staff were very courteous and helpful. I had a power trip in my room after hours (when there is no one in attendance at reception) but the staff responded swiftly and fixed the issue. Kudos to them!. Had some nasty smell coming from the A/C one night. The property is tired and old, but it serves the purpose and the location is nice, close to city centre.
A very old hotel which hasn't been upgraded since it was built. Original fixtures and furniture the place is badly in need of some renovations. Fine if you just want a bed and roof over your head. It's not really close to anything, the assumption is you drove and you will need a car to get around from this hotel.
Very good stay and everything made easy on arrival. Snacks were expensive being the only slight negative. Made booking 5hrs before stay and everything was done quick and easy. Would definitely recommend.
We visited this weekend and greeted with very friendly and professional staff members. Location was excellent. Value for money. Close to most attractions in town. Easily accessible free parking. Can't get any better than this
There are really only two negatives. It is a little far from the town centre to walk and the rooms definitely need renovating (which is underway). The room is a good size, it was clean, the bed very comfortable, and was quiet. We had the a/c on for heating which was very efficient but noisy. There were electric blankets on the bed which is not very common these days. The bathroom is very much old but everything worked. The staff were very friendly and most helpful.
Easy check in and out, room quite tidy. Only hassle was the shower which had amazing pressure but because of shower curtains water went everywhere. Check in staff very helpful. Rooms very quiet and good tv
I really appreciated the comfortable bed after a hard day of work, and really, the whole room worked very well, with many practical features that made for a restful experience. I was able to find desk space, ergonomically use my laptop with the free wifi, enough space on bathroom bench for toiletries - just so many small aspects of the room came together to support a successful visit. Ample car parking out the front. Not to mention the wonderful onsite restaurant with a bar and a menu with just the right number of options and a chef who really can cook very well. The gardens out the front are a pleasant feature as well. All the staff in reception and restaurant were very friendly, I highly recommend this motel.
For a competitive price and anyone knowing that they'll likely rely on having to drive everywhere it was perfectly good. The buildings and furniture are pretty tired and could do with a refresh, the heater/cooler in the corner of the room worked fine, but was incredibly loud, bed comfortable. Check-in was hassle free. Would stay again. When it's on offer it's well worth considering.
The bed was so comfortable , sleep came fast and the restaurant had excellent food and service was very friendly. Hardest thing was leaving each day to explore as the room was ward and the weather was cool and overcast. The gap and natural bridge was easy to see and the Anzac memorial was excellent.
The room is a good size one with parking in front. one double bed and a single bed and in between enough to put a carry cot. We were 2 adults and 2 toddlers. Convenient but lacks of charm. Feels depressing when you are on holiday with views over retails. The room floor is dirty under beds which shows poor cleaning and were not clean during the 4 nights stay, same for the shower. Bed was done every day but not very comfortable mattress and pillows. It was convenient enough for Albany but a let down for memories of holidays in Australia. Staff was welcoming and useful. Just not enough caring for this hotel.
First stay here and couldn't fault it. Stayed in the spa room and was very spacious and clean. Bed very comfortable and given the cold weather room was very warm. Location was great. Staff friendly and helpful.
A last minute booking to attend a wedding, so we came across The Clarence on Melville. Called ahead on day to see if we could get in earlier to freshen up before wedding and it was a Yes and upgrade to king size bed. The motel is oldish and built well - no noise whatsoever & a great night sleep. The room extremely clean and fully kitted with supplies. Definitely staying here again.
We booked a "Balcony Room" which are at rear of premises backing onto Mount Melville. Good quiet area with fabulous view over Albany. Our room was what we considered the perfect accommodation. The facilities, layout, everything was just as one would want. Very clean. Good beds, TV, lighting, curtains, bathroom, shower an excellent size with safety rail and proper taps. Quality toiletries provided along with free daily newspaper and milk. Toaster, electric jug, frig all there. Even the parking bay outside our door was a good width. These people have it all worked out. And it was good value Reception staff friendly and helpful. When we needed tourist information they had the answer. Cleaning staff also did an excellent job. We stayed two nights but it was so good we felt we could stay a week! Don't be put off by the dated appearance from road - this motel is excellent (and we only give credit where credit is due) Highly recommended
Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, wifi excellent and our room rate came with a continental breakfast. The latter was very good, reception staff very helpful. Daily papers provided and the shower cubicle had a clothes line able to be easily erected. Our room No 59 was at the back of complex so no traffic noise but as it faced east caught the morning sun which I loved.
My husband and I stayed at Best Western in Albany for 2 nights. We enjoyed the spa bath, easy to get in and out of. The room we stayed in was an Executive and was very comfortable. The decor in the room was exceptional. We will definitely make another time to stay at this motel.
Rooms are old style motel rooms - 2019 is planned for renovations! Very clean rooms, strong hot shower, and very comfortable beds. Friendly, welcoming staff and a great base from which to explore Albany! Very happy with our stay!
Enjoyed a superb dinner with my brother and friends. The menu had lovely variety and the prices represented great value for money. We all voted the roast pork one of the best we have ever had with beautifully cooked vegetables. The service was personal yet professional. As a regular at this motel my brother( a recent OAM award winner) had no hesitation booking 8 of us at this great restaurant. Thank you also for the generous bottle of wine given in honour of his award. It was a perfect dinner!
This hotel is in an ideal location and like other reviews - it looks a bit dated outside. However I found the venue quite safe (as a young female traveller), the front of house staff were all very cheerful and friendly and room was quiet, comfortable and tidy (exactly what I needed!).
We had a great long weekend away. I was concerned after reading some reviews about the exterior. But the room was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed and then some. The bathroom was clean, tidy and stocked. Giant bed, different thicknesses of pillows to choose from, Air con, TV, fridge, kettle, hairdryer, mini bar etc. Staff were lovely, helpful and informative. Across the road from a tackle/camp store, and a couple of blocks to the Dome. A very short drive into the heart of Albany or a 10-15min leisurely stroll. The grounds were looking great. Don't let the older style exterior stop you staying here. We will be back.
This Motel was in a great location. 20 minute walk into town. The room was clean and spacious. The service was friendly and informative.Breakfast was underwhelming. The continental breakfast was very basic and meat and cheese were left out on the table with no cooling for I don't know how long.
Stayed a couple nights. Had breakfast in the dining room. Breakfast was nice. Staff were excellent. Room was old, but clean. Nice and quite away from the main road. Only 3 minutes drive into the main center of town.
Many thanks to Cattia who went out of her way to get us booked in even though it was after 10pm. The room was very clean and comfortable. Everything was in good working order. We had breakfast next morning and found it to be very good and well priced. Would definitely stay there again.
We chose the hotel as much for its convenient location to downtown Albany as the nostalgia of staying there with my parents over 40 years ago. The rooms were light and airy, neat, clean and well appointed. The new owner was a joy to meet and her pride in rejuventaing the gardens was obvious and has paid off inoffering a warm and pleasant welcome to guests and visitors.
This was one of my most worst hotel experiences ever. We paid $240 a night for 6 nights at Best Western Clarence on Melville in Albany, WA. We have stayed in plenty of hotels before including other Best Westerns. This by far was our worst experience. We arrived at 5pm and were told to wait 15mins while the room was prepared. Our room was at the front, closest to the highway with the most noise. The room was an unrenovated 1970's/1980's room with heavily stained carpets, wallpaper peeling off, strong foul smell(think old animal/old smoke trapped in walls and floors). I killed a number of cochroaches. On the second last night I found Insect Spray in the linen cupboard so management must be aware of that problem. We had no working wifi for 6 nights despite paying for a room advertised as ‘free wifi in room included'. When this was raised with reception they repeatedly apologised but never offered a solution or gave us a discount. I was also bitterly disappointed to see other guests who stayed only one or two nights being given renovated rooms and/or rooms further away from the highway. This trip was our first visit to Albany. While we had wonderful weather and an awesome time in Albany, we hated this hotel experience. We spent as little amount of time there as possible. We didn't eat there either. The room and staff turned us off spending any extra time or money there and we won't go back. We will never stay at this Worst Western again and I would not recommend it to anyone. I'm sure some people who stayed in renovated rooms might say better, but you cannot guarantee what room you'll get. It's russian roulette and not worth it. Rotating staff at reception will also fail to help, resolve and/or compensate if there's a problem regardless of what room you are in.
Very clean, nice decor, comfortable bed, good warm shower, helpful and friendly receptionists, close to town and easy to get to attractions, food shops close by. On main road but no noise. Attractive frontage. Let us know about Seniors Discount with Best Western. Stayed going and returning and would stay again if in area. We did not try the restaurant..
This has not been a Best Western for very long. My first stay here and you can see that the new Management team are busily updating the rooms and giving the whole property a facelift. A very friendly greating by Victoria the receptionist who supplied all the information you need on your arrival as well as supplying you with fresh milk for the room. The other resepionist Simone was also a very happy and friendly person. The meals were beautiful and filling with great local produce used. I highly recommend stay at The Clarence.
I loved the 70s decor here--it was a nice break from the usual motel. We had a quiet and restful night here after a busy day. This isn't the place for someone who wants everything modern and just so, but it is absolutely comfortable and fun if you want something a little different.
Very handy to town and on the main road. Rooms very clean and the shower and bathroom were extra big and the water hot. Only hang up was trying to obtain a good strength Wi fi signal to operate my laptop.
We unexpectedly ended up in Albany after we had to cancel our camping plans due to poor weather. I booked a Wotif deal at the Clarence on Melville for a few nights and was happy with our accommodation. The Clarence is an older style motel but it appears that renovations are under way with the new Best Western management. Check in was prompt and without drama. Catherine, the receptionist on duty, was friendly and provided us with a small carton of fresh milk for our stay -so much nicer than the UHT you usually get in motels. Our room was a little dated with old carpet and a tired bathroom but that was our only negative. The room was spacious and warm when we arrived. Beds were comfy and we had plenty of table space for the 3 of us to eat our lovely room service from the motel restaurant. The food was a little pricey for the portion sizes but we all enjoyed the meals. Location is at the top of town. There is a Chicken Treat takeaway down the road but the main shopping area is a short drive away. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay here and would certainly stay again
We have stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years and this would have to be the best, biggest bed ever. If you can look past the very dated 70's décor and buildings you will enjoy the best night sleep ever. The cleaning could do with a little attention but the room was fairly clean, smelt a little musty but again the bed was awesome.
This hotel was a great place to stay overnight (or for a few days). The hotel is an older style but I found the room a bit larger even thought I booked a Standard Room. There was a place for your suitcase, a desk to work on, Table and chairs for room service and a couch to watch TV (in addition to a warm comfy bed). I had a great nights sleep. Lots of other amenities were present, wardrobe, fridge, kettle tea/coffees, iron etc. Most importantly they had cable and really good free wifi. I was too tired to go out so ate in the restaurant (but the do provide room service) and the food was local fresh produce which was delicious so I went back for breakfast the next morning. The location makes it easy to get into Albany and out to the surrounding attractions.
We came here with our son for the long weekend from Perth . Check in was very easy , reception was super friendly . We requested a baby cot at time of booking and it was ready in the room when we checked in Room was very clean , nice , comfy bed and good size . Tried the breakfast next day and had it in room and it was delicious . It was a continental breakfast and omlette and specially the omlette was the best we had for a long time . Had a chat with the owner/manager and such a nice welcoming lady . Reception of the second day gave us good suggestions about where to go with a child , so he can also enjoy his time . I have stayed in many hotels ( 4 & 5 stars ) in different countries , so I have experience in a good hotel and I would say this one is nice , comfy and clean and highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Albany
Undergoing some refurbishment in the rooms and its making a big difference. Great location for my needs, friendly staff and clean purposeful rooms. I haven't tried the restaurant, but it was reasonably busy on the night I stayed.
We booked to stay here super last minute as the hotel we were meant to be staying in had closed up before our arrival. The staff were so accommodating and helpful - getting us into a room as quickly as they could as this was during a thunderstorm, bringing us fresh milk for our tea and coffee and helping us to arrange a refund from our previous hotel. Couldn't believe how lovely and helpful they were! The room itself was also lovely, with a comfortable bed and good TV. Couldn't recommend enough.
This gorgeous boutique hotel is warm & friendly with all the luxurious comforts needed to make our stay in Albany amazing. The staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to ensure we had a fabulous homely experience. Its in a convenient location, walking distance from town and the room was clean, spacious and the bed soo comfy... The restaurant has delicious winter warming meals made with fresh local ingredients that are great value, such as the yummy breakfast menu ?? ?? My family look forward to staying at the Clarence on Melville next time we are in Albany.
I stayed at this motel 1 week agai, with 4 friends. On the day of our arrival, we booked a junior suite with 2 bedrooms. We arrived at the Best Western at about 22:30, due to travelling. We phoned the listed out of hours number, and were told the junior suite wasn't actually available. We were offered 2 double rooms for the same price. The lady on the phone insisted on taking my card details along wi the cvv (even though this had already been entered on booking.com). She told me the money was just as a hold, until check out the next day, and reception would actually take the payment. There was even a $3 credit card surcharge, even though I told her it was a debit - but, assumed this wouldn't matter a single the money wouldn't actually leave my account. The next morning reception also took payment for my room, as expected. But, so did the afternoon hours company. The receptionist was very friendly an informed me the money was just a hold and would be back in my account within the hour. 1 week later... still haven't received the money back!! I've phoned the hotel, regarding the issue twice - to receive brush off customer service - to be told the money shouldn't have been taken from my account, the funds had actually been released and that they would get in touch with the company and phone me back. Both times, the hotel haven't phoned me back. 7 days after staying at the hotel, and I am over $300 down! Technically I have paid for 2 rooms!! I'm at the end of my tether, trying to chase my money back, and I'm currently travelling, so the money would be really appreciated!! My next step is calling head office, as I have given up going through the hotel directly.
This motel changed ownership 12 months ago and is undergoing refurbishment. The Manager, Cattia, is lovely and this is reflected in her staff. It is a lovely place to stay in Albany, you should give it a go.
Received low quality service but price charged for staying was comparative high. Did not provide information about b/fast as already included in the price, felt lost and overly charged. Recommend- check around if you get good hotel at same price.
For $170/night I don't think it would be to unreasonable to expect a toilet that fully flushes. Freezing cold room with a heater that sounds like a jet engine. Poor lady in the room next to us didn't even have a functioning heater and had to request extra blankets for the next night, she ended up using an extra 3!! The shower.....where to start, if it wasn't giving you third degree burns it would just suddenly just turn icy cold! Breakfast, to much to ask for fresh milk? Husband ordered eggs Benedict, fully cooked through eggs and a Hollandaise sauce that tasted of nothing but vinegar, not worth the $29 we were charged. Only good note were my scrambled eggs were the best I've had for a long time.
The staff were most helpful when booking three rooms for our family for two nights. The reception and breakfast staff were most helpful and there was an excellent choice of food for breakfast. We have stayed at this motel many times and would recommend it and they are in the process of renovating the rooms.
Stayed here for a business trip and it suited me perfectly. Short walk to town and near to my work. Pleasant staff willing to help. Rooms are purposeful, clean and tidy, however are looking in need of an update.
I stayed here 1 night for a work trip and would definitely stay again. The customer service alone was excellent. I unfortunately didn't eat anything on the menu for dinner and the staff were more than happy to accommodate my needs. You really don't get that a lot these days. The rooms are standard and clean and close to a shop if you need one.
New owners have turned this tired motel around. The staff are extremely generous and helpful, giving us the us the best service we had in Albany. Breakfast selection, presentation & quality are second to none. Coffee is excellent. With the advent of room refurbishments in the near future, this will be the next prime and only place to stay in Albany.
Only 2 mins from the centre of town. All staff very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious. Queen Size bed very comfortable.VERY HOT water in the spacious shower. Only minus was the restaurant was not open Sunday or Monday for dinner. Would stay again.
I ask two main things from a hotel- a good bed and a good shower - most hotel showers you need to run around just to get wet. This one was as good as my shower at home (almost). The bed was new and king size - I think, certainly a large and comfortable bed. The staff were very welcoming and helpful; a request for an extension cord was saw it delivered to our room in minutes with a smile. The hotel is fairly old and a little tired but super clean. The new owners tell me a extensive renovation program is underway. It was a busy long weekend in Albany and rooms were hard to find so, fair enough, prices were at the upper end of what you might expect. This was not our regular place to stay in Albany but we will be back next year (as long as I get room 57) ??
After spending some time in the emergency ward of the Albany health campus, as my wife had fractured some bones, I got out of the hospital just after 11pm and had nowhere to stay. Thankfully, the owner/manager of this motel received me (in her PJ's) and gave me a room for the night. She then discounted the room price despite the fact that I 'd dragged her out of her bed (it was 11.30pm by then and quite cool too). Very kind & accommodating. So thank you very much to the person in charge that night, as I wasn't looking forward to sleeping in the car by the wharf as I was told to do by a few of the hospital staff.
Dont stay here! Firstly there was no internet the whole time we were there. I went to the reception and asked if we had been given the wrong password. The receptionist said it was the right password and are you putting it in correctly? Told her I had tried it on three different devices and the she said it gotten a hammering over the peak period sorry about that. She knew it was not working but made up stories. Had to pay extra $20 to optus cause of the extra gig on the phone plan(our little girl is autistic and youtube calms her when she gets annoyed). Went to put water in the kettle but noticed mould inside, called reception to tell them about it and they replaced it right away. A week later we noticed on the bank statement they charged us an extra $205 so the wife called the motel to ask why. They said the cleaning cost $125 cause there was drawing on the wall. I didnt see any drawing on the wall. She said she had sent an email with pictures but it bounced back and asked for it again but still no email received. Then she said it was an extra $30($60 for the 2 nights)a night for an extra person cause someone slept on the sofa but there was no extra person. And then they said the rest was for breaking the kettle. Wrote a good review when they emailed it to us shortly after we left but afterwards they claim that their emails bounce back. You can't rate then on Google or Facebook and hit you with extra charges after reviewing them. Loved the city of albany but never staying at that motel again or any best western motel. And now the wife said they've charged us another $2.95 WTF!
Recently we stayed 2 nites at the Clarence Melville Albany.when we got back i have been charged over $205 without even letting me know what's been charged of,i call them ask about it and the person in charge was a bit rude the way she was explaining,my kids damaged the property by writing stuff on the wall,ok fine i admit my kid mistakes but when she goes on about why we been charged for damaged the kettle,i was shocked.i told her ur kettle is full of mouled in it,i have to call reception and she brought me another one.is that supposed to be charged?????? Then she say i brought another person, which of course no one ,she say we use the sofa bed which supposed to be for extra guests,i was surprised its in the room n we use it,i still don't understand.i have 2 little kids n i need join the 2 single beds in the room so i could sleep with my 2yr old child n my husband sleeps with my 4yrd old child. Seriously dissapointed. They are not professionally handling it.next time take people's contact num and let them know first before u charged them!!!!!!
Convenient location, quiet, clean and comfortable. We are in the king room for $290 for 2 nights. No nice view but everywhere with views was booked out. Car can be parked conveniently outside the room. Comfortable bed, lovely sheets and towels.
I stayed here for 2 nights with me elderly mother. Room was a bit dated, and could have done with more crockery, cutlery and a microwave. On the upside the room, and bathroom were very clean. Lots of nice white towels. The beds were exceptionally comfortable .... so much so that I took note of the brand of mattress for future reference. Staff were very friendly and helpful. This was a nice quiet area, and a very convenient location.
Over priced for the amenities available. We booked a room for two people and only one set of cutlery were available. The water pressure was poor in the shower. It would also have been convenient if we had a microwave available in the room. Other than that the room was clean, staff were nice and the location was convenient.
Worst place ever. Despite a very helpful receptionist supporting us solving an issue with our booking, the experience of the stay was very poor. The accomodation smelled terribly when we got into the room, probably been closed for a while and had people smoking. My partner is allergic to dust and couldn't sleep the whole night although we kept the window open. Evident amount of dust on the bulbs and other surfaces. Even a dead cockroach was found behind the curtains. The staff was very accomodating and offered other rooms but unfortunately these were not better.
This was an excellent hotel in a great position to explore the town. Simone on the desk was very helpful. But that is what you would expect from a Toohey, from the West of Ireland at least originally. One slight downside was the showers they ran a bit hot and cold, but a great way to save water.
The room and bathroom were spotless. Booking in was quick and the provision of fresh milk on arrival was a bonus. We had a superb Christmas lunch at Jacqueline's restaurant, attached to the motel, and one evening meal as well. Both meals were well presented and cooked to a very high standard. The motel's central location to the main shopping areas is a plus. We will definitely be using this motel again.
Best shower I have had in Australia. Decor was worn and needs updating. No ice machines. Didn't try the on site restaurant. Bed was OK. Staff had the reservation ready, no problems. Inexpensive accommodation in Albany near downtown.
Pleasant spacious room, with a table and chairs and a couch. Car able to be parked at our door. Great fridge. Retractable clothes line in the shower. Comfortable bed. Unfortunately the one staff member we saw was terribly over worked and there was a long wait for everything and some mistakes were made. The meals left a little to be desired. There was quite some noise from the hotel next door on Saturday night until very late.
nice quiet and well kept motel loccated close to town roomy rooms , very clean and tidy great for commuting to shopping centres love the whale always wondered what the accomadation was like was very pleased
We stayed for two nights. The room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed. A little short on amenities perhaps - a toaster is supplied but no cutlery or crockery except for mugs - and a microwave oven would be useful. However we will stay here again when next we visit the Southwest.
This was our twenty fifth stop of our trip around Australia. We stayed here for one night on our way to Mandurah. There wasn't much accommodation available in town according to the information centre and the few properties they recommended, they wanted a minimum of two nights, knowing very well that we only required for one night. I am surprised this property didn't even came on the centre's radar. From outside there is nothing flash about this property however we were quite surprised after inspecting the room. We stayed in room 5. The room consisted of a queen and a single bed. Decent size room, very clean, fast WiFi and with fresh crisp linen on good comfortable beds. Toaster provided but bring your own bread plates and butter knife, HaHa. The property is undergoing major refurbishment and as a developer I can see where the new owners are heading. We had a great night's sleep and a lovely stay and will definitely stay here when we return next year. Thanks Marianna for a great service on check-in and Simone upon check-out (lovely coffee). Cheers to all and we'll see you all very soon.
Very comfortable and affordable 3 star. Good clean twin room had a Queen and Single beds. Good wi-fi and good breakfast selections. The room was basic but clean, comfy bed and nothing to complain about. The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Good plane to stop although Albany has two Best Westerns and this was the one slightly outside of town.
We stayed here for 3 nights and we enjoyed our room, the rooms are looking a little tired but the beds were comfortable and to have a separate bedroom for the kids was wonderful. The bathroom was clean and tidy, water nice and hot for showers. Looking forward to going back after they have finished their renovations.
Arrived in Albany a day early so at 6pm we were looking for a bed and pulled into the Best Western. Very happy with the choice. Room 57 up the back was very comfortable, quiet, well presented, clean.Would highly recommend
Change of name and now part of Best Western. Although 70s style, the room had been upgraded, with excellent quality bedding. Bed was soft but comfortable. Did not use the restaurant. The price was a bit below for similar accommodation - plenty to choose from in Albany, at $113 per night. wifi very good
I wasn't sure whether to rate Comfort Inn Albany a two or three but decided that compared to other stays elsewhere, I probably wouldn't rush back here - at least not in winter, so a two it is. Positives included, absolutely lovely reception staff and waitress in the restaurant and beds that were very comfortable. Unfortunately that was it. The negatives included, a very noisy AC that resulted in either being being kept awake but warm, or turn it off and get some sleep but wake up cold!! The restaurant was very warm and inviting, there was a mishap with my meal and as such i cant positively comment on the food, the other negative was the rowdy group in the back of the restaurant who had little consideration for the other diners with their singing and extremely loud conversation.
Have been here for the week this is the first time I have stayed here. The rooms nice and clean all the staff are friendly and professional meals in the restaurant have been good. Would not have a problem staying again.
Travelled with friends for a event in Albany. Nice clean place to stay with comfortable beds and pillows. Comfortable and accommodating especially for a family of 5. Staff very friendly even though it was busy it was very quiet.
A good sized room, well furnished for a motel with comfortable beds . The staff were welcoming and cheerful, and were able to give advice on places to visit. The restaurant serves good basic food both at dinner and breakfast It has a bar with a short but reasonable basic wine list. It has free internet in all rooms.
The staff that greet you are always nice, friendly and helpful. The rooms are always clean and tidy. Fresh 300ml milk is great better than UHT. The Chef cooks nice meals that are always tasty and enjoyable. The beds and pillows are very comfortable.
