First time visiting and had a great experience, the leisure facilities were especially good. Danny was very helpful in providing a swimming noodle for our daughter and just very welcoming and professional all around. Will definitely be visiting again.
The hotel itself, and the restaurant were great, aside from the heat and lack of decent fan in the room. Little bit rushed at dinner if sitting a bit later. The REAL issue, is the spa. It wasn't looking the cleanest the last time we came, and this time it was even worse. There's green and grub in the pool and all around. The sauna is just a warm box with broken benches. There was 2 kids running riot, splash and throwing a ball at folk, and they apparently often do this, and are unaccompanied, which meant none of the Spa guests could actually enjoy their spa. Sadly it's out us right off coming again, which is a shame. If there's proof of a good scrubs and a lick of paint, and seats not ready to collapse, then we'd consider it
The hotel staff I spoke to were great, room was ok - comfy beds, I actually slept all night once I was able to get off. The walls are paper thin though and I could hear the full conversation of our neighbours - this went on quite late for us. Spa is fab - when it's all in working order, this is the first time we've visited when the hydro pool has been working - so you might want to check this if you're planning to visit. The sauna had been switched off and unfortunately we weren't in the spa long enough for it to heat back up, but we enjoyed the pool & jacuzzi. The food at the birdcage restaurant is delicious but the service lets it down - slow & sloppy! We had to get the attention of 3 staff members who had been stood in the kitchen talking for 5 minutes, just to pay our bill, as nobody was on the floor. They also have no communication - I paid to get £50 food allowance and the food was still on my bill - had I not checked I would have been out of pocket but the staff should know we have this as we booked through our room number. Its a real shame the place has these let downs because despite all of that I do actually enjoy coming here, but soon I think the bad may outweigh the good and make us venture elsewhere.
Myself and my partner just joined the gym / Spa which are both lovely!! Gym is always clean and not overly busy as is the spa area. We like to go on a morning before work and it's not really busy at this time. We had breakfast there last week too which was lovely! Can't wait to do it again next week. The only issue we have encountered is a group of elderly people on a morning who meet there to swim. They give out very dirty looks to others getting in the pool and then visibly speak about you. We understand they may do this daily, but other people pay to be members also and have just as much right to be there... they will likely make some people feel uncountable and could potentially lose the spa business. I think they need to be informed that they do not own the pool and people will not tolerate dirty looks! We've let them go so far, but one more and I will likely ask what the issue is! As its just rude. They also take up most of the pool on purpose so others who want to exercise before work cannot swim really. Other than this group its a great place!
We stayed for one night and to be fair that was enough. On arrival we were able to leave our car in the car park as too early to check in. There was no charge for the car park. There was a bus stop directly across the road a very regular number 7 bus took you into their lovely town with plenty of lovely shops, restaurants, bars and family run coffee shops. Check in was good and we found our room quickly. We were on the ground floor. Our room over looked the back garden which was very run down and in urgent need of a re vamp. Old garden furniture, wood work dropping to pieces and dead plants and weeds. Someone obviously had smoked in the room we stayed in as there were cigarette ends outside on the floor! Room was old but clean with kettle tea/coffee/biscuits. The hairdryer was old and made a terrible noise so I used the one I took. Basic complimentary toiletries in the bathroom and the shower was over the bath. We decided to have an hour in the pool area which was nice and relaxing. We used the steam and sauna areas. Small but hot as it should be. Descent changing rooms with showers and chairs around the pool side. The hydrotherapy pool was not working which was a shame. The pool receptionist was very friendly. During our stay there was a group of rugby players which were loud and in appropriate deciding to roll all over the floor in reception and drop their shorts for all to see. A very unpleasant experience. There is a small bar which serves the usual and to be fair around the same price of town. Now to breakfast. It was poor. On arrival we were told we could sit where we wanted. We sat on a table for 2. There was no cutlery and the table required cleaning before we could sit down. The only branded cereal was weetabix. There were bran flakes corflakes and coco pops No yogurts, pastries or fresh fruit and the toast was the cheapest looking. There was warm orange and apple juice. We ordered a full English which was poor. The bacon was fatty sausage well over cooked and the black pudding was a solid block. There was a small half a tomato and mushroom which were very greasy . The hash brown and beans were good and hot. There was tea and coffee which were served in pots which was good. The poor waiting staff really didn't look happy to be at work. Checkout was quick and easy. Overall hotel in need of a complete re vamp, food was only average at best. However in a great location for exploring Yarm. Will definitely return to yarm but maybe not this hotel.
I booked the yarm suite for a masterclass i was hosting. Communication was excellent, staff couldnt help enough. I felt welcome and able to set up the room exactly how i needed it: nothing seemed too much to ask. Highly recommend for anyone looking for meeting/event space
I want to like this hotel because it's really convenient for me but most times that I stay my sleep is disturbed by the other guests - they host a lot of weddings/parties and those guests have a different idea of what quiet means at 1:00AM to me. Also, this time I could feel the springs of the mattress sticking in my back. A lick of paint would not go amiss either!
Our room was tired, badly marked walls, entry door damages, stains and burns on the carpet, extractor fan in bathroom. Not working, some mould to sealant and grouting, lack of hooks to hang items in the bathroom. No shower gel or shampoo in the spar showers, breakfast , lack of glasses for juice and milk for cereal, gentleman at breakfast was somewhat abrupt and not very reactive to requests.
Stayed in this hotel to attend a concert at Princess Alexander Auditorium. Used the spa facilities which were a bonus. A late check out was an added bonus. Would definitely stay again.
The staff at this hotel went above and beyond they are a credit to this hotel each and everyone of them. They made our day/night perfect Thank you to all involved from my family and I
We had a fantastic stay staff were very welcoming. Excellent value for money very enjoyable would stay again.
The tiles in the bathroom were cracked, not just one or 2 but whole sections. The shower was very dated to put it politely. The floor was extremely slippery if you used the shower. There were burn marks and stains on the floor and the furniture was spartan and looked like it wasn't in keeping with each other. The walls were blank and drab with no pictures or any colour to the room. Everything looked and felt well used and warn and not very clean. There was no air-conditioning just a very in effective one speed fan and I'm not sure if it achieved anything. The desk fan was covered in a white bin bag, great for stopping dust perhaps but looks bad. The room itself also only had two available plugs, including one for the kettle and neither was near the bed. The bed however was comfortable. The blind on the window looked basic and cheap and didn't do much to block out the security light which shone like a search light into the room as it covered the car park. Finally regardong the hotel, the decor of the hotel corridors reminded me of a nursing home and again looked, used, tired and dirty. The spa could have been nice however in the pool and particularly in the hydro pool there were more tiles missing (even being piled on the side) than there were in situ. Meaning the same issues of cleanliness were apparent but so two was a question of safety as many of the broken or spaces for missing tiles were Sharpe. All in all I have to say I was disappointed, I have been in more pleasant and welcoming hotel rooms which were cheaper and cleaner, including many that were very heavily used. The only reason for not complaint or report it was that we only stayed for a night, didn't spend a lot of time in the room although I wouldn't have wanted to and I wasn't even asked on check out if everything had been ok. With a major refurbishment and modernisation this could be lovely, but I'm afraid once bitten twice shy and I won't be staying again. I only gave 1 star because you can't leave 0
The hydro pool is in the worst condition I've ever experienced. Half of the tiles have come off. Some at the bottom of the pool, some at the side of the pool. ( see attached photos ). Big danger hazard. Will not be using again anytime soon. NEEDS SORTING ASAP
The hotel was OK. Staff weren't the best in hospitality. The room was ok apart from the shower and single bed with no option to move.
Booked the Parkmore for my grandmas 80th birthday with 21 of our family and friends, the restaurant was beautiful, James and his staff went above and beyond for us to make sure my grandma had a perfect afternoon. The food was very good and we couldn't be any happier with everything. Thank you so much for a lovely afternoon.
Very run down leisure club Pool cold and low Both jacuzzis out of action Steam room not working Club ‘allegedly'run by present inmates of HMP Kirklevington Very questionable people entering club who are clearly not members and often not challenged as no staff member on desk Staff members often eating their supper at the desk, takeaways delivered to hotel, recently curry and last week kebab and chips! Not exactly the right image. No rules or etiquette in the club Very downmarket, sadly! No female staff, female members very put off by male ‘bouncer' like staff
came today for a spa day with my friend. we were stood at reception for 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us as he was stood outside. we wernt advised that the steam room was out of order so there was only the sauna to use which was very small so not much opportunity to go in due to the volume of people wanting to use it. the hydro pool was full of missing tiles and both mine and my friends feet were sucked into one of the air holes which really hurt and I guessing by the force of the suction on it that it should be covered. the spa in general was just very disappointing and the tiles around the edge of the pool near the jacuzzi looked grubby. shame that a rare day off and trip to the spa was so disappointing!!
Just had a great all day brunch at the birdcage restaurant in the Parkmore Hotel Great food, great quality, great value for money and served by lovely attentive staff I had the little bird breakfast. My husband had the Peacock breakfast and our friend had the soup of the day ( spicy parsnip soup). Plates were cleared by all! I Would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be returning
We arrived at the Parkmore on Easter Sunday first impressions were fine In the room an Easter egg was placed on my sons bed went to the Spa this is when things turned sour Arrived at the Spa no towels told should have bought towels from the room asked about lockers told should have brought my own lock ,as they do not provide locks for any lockers next problem no paper cups to get drinking water tolc go to reception to get plastic bottle of water guess what they had no plastic cups. Finally given paper cups, then told I had to turn the tap that was on the floor to obtain water from the fountain unfortunately the water wasn't cold if was warm what's the point of warm drinking water,Finally to compound all issues 2 radiators in the room none of which worked the room was freezing not sure how they can advertise this as a 3star hotel Spa it defies me never again people be wary of this shambolic hotel
I bring my son to swimming classes every Monday. The Parkmore pool is warm and clean. The facilities are always clean & tidy. Reception staff are always welcoming with a smile. Would recommend both the baby swimming lessons and parkmore leisure facilities.
Parkmore hotel is a great location and a Perfect venue, love the pool and spa staff. I am always made to feel so welcome. The pool area, changing facilities and showers are lovely. I will be using this venue all the time for swimming and relaxation.
Our First ever visit Was very impressed Hotel is very clean and Rooms are very spacious Everything was to our expectations Only one improvement needed is Phone USB points definitely needed for the side of the beds We didn't take a phone charger because we presumed that there would be USB points in the Room Another point When Room was cleaned The Cable on the Kettle was constantly wrapped around it.. Never seen that before A bit strange..
We went here with my little one for her trial swimming class. Whilst the swimming class teacher was amazing, the water could've been warmer . But beware the changing rooms! They are the worst . My little child trembled in the cold changing room once out of the pool and there was really cold air blowing throughout the changing rooms. No privacy rooms to get changed into either. Got to use toilets! I asked the man at the spa reception about what was going on about the Arctic conditions in the changing rooms, he said the air conditioning was not working in the most uninterested and careless tone that we will definitely not be returning. They need to train their staff better at customer service. I believe we need to make the council aware as this place is a health hazard!
My husband and I Stayed here on Saturday with friends, spa was lovely, food and service excellent, beds really comfortable room facilities good toiletries tea making facilities. Staff on reception really friendly and chatty will definitely be back highly recommend
Over the 11 days that I was there on a course all the staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble, rooms were good warm beds comfortable and very clean. They could do with sockets next to the bed All meals were good Spa was very good Bar area was also good
Great hotel with friendly staff. Good food All the amenities you need for your stay. Clean and tidy and very comfortable beds I stayed in a lovely room and had dinner in the evening and breakfast in the morning, both were very nice. No complaints
Sort of OK Expensive for what it was. Decor tired looking. Our room was ok. Bed was comfy, and kettle good BUT plug sockets in wrong place and limited so a bit irritating. The room just looked as if it had seen better days as did the hotel Breakfast - ok but again tired looking. I just want better than I have at home ( which is normally toast on the run) The plastic looking long life croissants were a bit naff, and the cheese and ham thing looked like it was from the 70's . The cheese had a sheen on it, and didn't look appetising. The orange juice didn't really taste of orange. The thing that makes this annoying is you could get some nice croissants and freeze them and get some fruit, get some plain Greek yoghurt…. That'd be awesome! However the fry up that was served to someone else looked nice. The sandwich was good and my husbands breakfast was nice.. it's a shame as you would know how many breakfasts you'd need to prepare for and it could be made better for minimal amounts of effort which would mean more people might go there. So my conclusion is the bill should've been £20 less and that would have been a good price point. Didn't use the spa. All the staff we met seemed nice.
The Parkmore hosted my 70th birthday party and family get together for 50 people and from first making enquiries through to the actual event Rebecca the event's coordinator was quick to respond to any queries and made sure everything went smoothly. Everyone enjoyed the night. The food and resident DJ were excellent. Several of the guests, including myself stayed overnight. Our room was comfortable and breakfast plentiful and very nice. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you for making my special event so special.
Booked a £30 spa and dine for a Friday afternoon, which granted for the price your not to have high expectations, but you'd hope for at least a pleasant visit. On arrival at 2pm the young lad working the spa reception was welcoming and helpful, showed us around the facilities etc and then during our 2 hours spa the older gentleman who he seemed to swap shifts with was not so helpful or friendly for that matter and in fact very unprofessional. I popped my head through to where the desk was to mention that the water machine had run out of cups and could they please be restocked, as naturally while in a spa you get dehydrated, his response was no, that they don't do them anymore as people left them around the spa (isn't that a spa staff job to keep facilities tidy and customers happy and cared for? Picking up a few cups should not be an issue) and he asked did I not have a bottle? When I explained no, I didn't expect to need to bring one, he said he'd check ‘out the back' if there was one but he would do so when he'd finished his emails… the bottle never came and my friend and I chose to leave the spa earlier than our 2 hour slot as we were parched and felt dizzy. In the spa itself it's a nice ambience however not very well kept, there were broken pieces of tile out of the jacuzzi wall set on the side, the pool was warmer than one of the jacuzzis, which although makes for a pleasant swim doesn't make for a pleasant jacuzzi experience, and on entering the changing rooms the ceiling vent blew cold air out which didn't make for a pleasant change out of our swimwear. The gentleman on the desk as we left, again was very uninterested, and I joked that ‘you must not have managed to get through them emails?' As if to point out I never received my bottle of water and he said ‘joking aren't ya have you seen how many I've got'… very bizarre choice of staff for any leisure centre or reception in general for that matter. The two courses we had in the restaurant were fine for the price we paid, however nothing I couldn't literally throw together myself, which I think for a restaurant of any standard is disappointing. Also as a mood point the music choice was very random and not appropriate for a dining experience, featuring ads between songs, very odd. A lot of changes and improvements need to be made if both spa and restaurant wish to make their mark and build a quality reputation.
Could of been a better stayed 2 night with my elderly parents room 145 did not have any curtains room looked un fished. Parents were very cold could of done with heating on. Paid for coffee & it was served cold had to ask for another one. Went for breakfast at 9am & was asked to sit at a dirty table covered with dirty dishes refused so went & sat in reception area until called back in. Table was cleared but not cleaned had to still wait for it to be cleaned & set eventually when it was done no bowls or glasses for cereal or juice, standing around waiting again by this time it was 9.38am went to reception& told the gentleman behind desk who came & spoke to someone we did get bowls eventually so we could start our breakfast 9.38am. The table next to where I was sitting was covered in dirty dishes & it was eventually cleared after 35 mins but not wiped down a total shambles. Both days there were wedding on what looked lovely but not sure where the hotel guest are supposed to go as we were in the middle of all the wedding guest what made us feel like we were gate crashing a wedding so we ended up leaving & going out. Shame as it could be a nice hotel but you need to have somewhere for hotel guest to relax if they want to unwind not in the middle of wedding guests made us feel very uncomfortable & finish rooms off with curtains and may be a picture of the wall very bare
Stayed at Parkmore for four nights while on a course for work at nearby airport ,whilst the hotel itself is in need of a face-lift, it's crowning glory is its staff at all times they were very friendly helpful and professional a credit to themselves and the hotel would stay again if I the area a very pleasant day.
Everything is great about this hotel.. very welcoming and helpful staff. The pool is amazing and so is the hot tub.. I would highly recommend to anyone. Reasonably priced. Pints ain't over priced either.
Stayed here on a Wowcher deal which included 2 nights, dinner on 1st night and breakfast both mornings. Overall great hotel and spa. Staff were very friendly and professional. Would have liked a full menu option at dinner as we had a limited menu.
Booked 2 nights in a suite using Tesco voucher towards the price. Total price £180 per night. Room dilapidated and decor appears to date from early 1990s. Pervasive smell of damp. Bathroom fittings in poor condition with broken shower door and pieces missing from bath panel. Fan does not work. Several light switches do not work. No bedside lights. Uplighters loose and badly fitted. Curtains difficult to draw because cheap plastic tracks are worn out. Room not serviced unless specifically requested. Cooked breakfast overcooked and desiccated. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and helpful. However, the place does not come close to justifying its price tag without major refurbishment.
Me and my mum had a lovely afternoon here today, as a pre-celebration for my 21st birthday tomorrow! We got the ‘unwind and dine' package, which had 2 hours in the amazing spa. We had a great time, there's a nice pool, jacuzzi and a steam room and sauna. (There's a hydrotherapy pool too but it's currently undergoing maintenance). After a relaxing time in the spa, we went to the Birdcage restaurant in the hotel for afternoon tea! And wow, it was great. We asked for a vegetarian afternoon tea and there was a great variety. There was sandwiches, (egg, cheese and tomato, cheese, cheese savoury), savoury food (mini cheese, tomato and leek quiche, cheese scones, with some and Branston Pickle), Sweet food (fruit scones, Victoria sponge cake slices, etc). We also got a decaf coffee each too, which was very nice. The service both in the spa and the restaurant was very good. Everyone was polite and kind. I would recommend going here, it's lovely and you get so much included for a great price!
My husband and I celebrated our Diamond Wedding Anniversary on Sunday 10th September at the Parkmore Hotel with family and friends We had a wonderful afternoon and the food was superb. The staff were on the ball and everything ran so smoothly I cannot praise them enough. Thank you Parkmore for a memorable afternoon. Joan and Jack Middlemiss
We had our wonderful Wedding at the Parkmore Hotel, the staff were very friendly, helpful and totally amazing they ensured our day ran smoothly. They made our day even more special. I Highly recommend having your wedding here.
We recently visited the birdcage restaurant for lunch. Sandwich was ok, chips were frozen but price was good. Service was, well after the initial order we never saw the waitress again. The table was cleared of two plates leaving the other 3. Had to look for someone so we could pay the bill. Coffee machine was broken as was the card machine, we had to pay in the main hotel which was beautiful and toilets were very clean. Overall I would give my experience a 3*
Swimming area look very neglected.. Tiles missing from pools. Floors not cleaned. Furniture looked shabby. Changing rooms could do with some TLC. Restaurant chairs bit grubby. Staff at pool and restaurant were really helpful and friendly.. Just need to update and tidy spa area.
4 star room 3 star dinner 2 star breakfast experience 2 star pool This is a good location of hotel and perfect for our stay en route & to meet friends. Sadly the breakfast and pool experience didn't live up to the room standards. Room Pros Immaculately clean Well laid out Nice toiletries and biscuits A great comfortable nights sleep. Probably one of the best I've had in a hotel. Cons 1 pillow short. Needed to request a toilet roll (4 people in room and half a toilet roll not good!) 1 broken tile by bath so could drop something in the floor. Staff in reception and spa are all lovely & welcoming Dinner: Whilst the meal was lovely, the atmosphere of the dining room was not great. They need extra staff and the chairs definitely need replacing. Breakfast: Badly under staffed so the two waiting staff were always busy but didn't have spare time. Entered the room to find tables not cleared and not move to see. Not enough cutlery laid out. Items on the buffet table did not get replaced quick enough (food, drinks & crockery). Breakfast cooked to order which was lovely. However wish we'd not ordered breakfast and gone into nearby Yarm instead. Spa: Pool is lovely but the members use it for swimming lanes and consequently we hardly swam. The side room monsoon jacuzzi has a lot of broken tiles. No shampoo etc in the showers. Overall the star at the hotel are lovely. The bedroom we had was immaculately clean and a great nights sleep. Tip to visitors Suggest eating breakfast in nearby Yarm until starting levels sorted Ask when pool will be quiet enough to swim Tip to management At least 2 full toilet rolls per family room. Tidy up the outside of the hotel (looked shabby as we walked from car park to reception) Replace dining room chairs Sort restaurant staffing Provide a unit containing shampoo in spa showers Replace broken tiles in monsoon jacuzzi Whilst my review probably sounds a bit critical, the location, staff, room and sleep quality were so good that I would definitely stay again.
We had our wedding here it was perfect. The food the staff and all the effort they put in was just second to none. I was so overwhelmed with everything thank you to the staff at the parkmore. You really made our special day that little but more special.
Having eloped earlier in the month, we held our wedding party at The Parkmore Hotel and we were not disappointed. Every member of staff was helpful and professional. Thank you to Rebecca for helping us plan our wedding and being flexible despite my many changes in the planning of the day! Great value for money & definitely worth having The Parkmore Hotel on your list of places for an event venue!
Dreadful! When coming for a spa date with my friend pulling up in the car park two men chefs in uniform fag buds all over the floor doesn't look appealing outside the kitchen door open. The spa needs a very good deep clean and some maintaince before someone has an accident. When ordering food was a nice looking menu lovely girls. Ordered two carbonara one vegetarian, now on the menu it is £15 my vegetarian one came with just pasta and sauce no vegetables or anything or a sort to give it some excitement. No garnish or anything on the food now on the website it looks beautifully presented, have been before with friends on the old menu and was great now it is just lacking excitement and care from the kitchen now.
We recently got married here at the Parkmore and held our whole reception here. I couldn't praise the team enough for there hard work, commitment and friendly attitude. Wedding coordinators Rebecca and James were fantastic and ensured I was at ease and stress free at all times. The venue was set out perfectly for our wedding day I couldn't fault anything. The food was outstanding, all our guests commented on how amazing the food was. The staff working during the day of our weddinf were also amazing and worked so hard.
We booked the junior suite, if we had been staying for more than one night I'd had asked to move. Carpets were dirty. Blind broken in the velux window, (but was rectified quickly once mentioned to reception) no sockets next to bed, they were other side of room next to the kettle table. Next to a big extraction pipe but didn't really bother us too much. Bathroom was dated, toilet seat moved and basin was moving too. Bathroom was small and only 1 person could use at a time. Went to use the pool to be told no towels left and could we use the ones in our room? We'll, I said no as what wouldn't dry myself with after a shower in my room.? Plus sides, Courtney on reception was always smiling, happy to help and helpful. I had treatments in the spa of which were amazing. I met a friend for afternoon tea as well which was delicious, cocktails a tad expensive but nice all the same. Food was lovely at breakfast, fresh juices, pastries, cereals, and a delicious cooked breakfast. There was a wedding on the night we stayed and to be honest was dreading bed time, however we didn't hear a thing. We went out in the evening but the food smelled delicious for the evening. I would come back, just not a junior suite. And bring my own towels for the pool.
On arrival at the hotel the receptionist was friendly and helpful. We were waiting for friends so went to the bar first for a drink. The bar was a nice relaxing area. When we entered our room it looked nice, the bathroom was very dated and looked like it had not been changed since the 1999s but was practical. On looking at our friends room next door their bathroom had had a revamp so I'm assuming it's a work in progress. The bed was comfortable, the view was of the car park near to the entrance to the spa so had to keep the blinds shut as there was people walking past all the time., from 7am. The spa area was ok, pool a little small and you have to walk through this to get to the gym so not relaxing as people come and go a lot. We came for a murder mystery night which was brilliant, food was good and what we expected for event food! Breakfast the next morning was dire, it was the worst breakfast we have ever encountered, the bacon was hard l, sausages reheated, eggs Benedict looked like it had custard on! There was also a small continental section, which needed restocking. All in all needs a revamp, something on the windows so people can't see in, and the breakfast overHauling. Staff nice and beds comfortable.
My family stayed at this establishment for 1 night (2 rooms), we had great expectations having stayed at many Best Western Spa Hotels. Unfortunately our hopes were shot down, the hotel is in a dire need of a major overhaul, the rooms are something from the late 70's and the food (breakfast) is very basic, overcooked and just passable for eating nearly as much went back as what was served, the toast was ok as you did that yourself. Avoid and save your money it isn't worth the price at all.
The hotel is in a fabulous location, right by a golf course and about a 10/15 minute walk into Yarm High street. The hotel itself is clean and presentable, and the garden area is lovely if you catch it on a sunny day. We sat and drank wine in the sun before heading off out for a wander. The spa is nice, a big pool, saunas and jacuzzis. The gym is very good quality however my husband visited that - I didn't. Food in the birdcage is nice and the breakfast was exceptionally good.
I just wanted to personally say thank you to ALL the wonderful staff at the Parkmore Hotel who made my 2 and a half week stay so comfortable. The Staff were warm, welcoming and ALWAYS had a smile on their faces with a willingness to help. I would recommend your hotel to anyone seeking good old British values with the warm welcoming that is synonymous with the North East of England. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a home from home.
Firstly, I would like to say the staff were very friendly & we received fabulous customer service. However, we found the changing area unclean, the ceiling had mould on it too. There were no cups in the spa area for the water machine. The food in the restaurant was very disappointing, no one ate their meal, we picked at the frozen chips. The burgers were cheap, frozen & had fat on them were they had been cooked. The fish was pink in the middle, this meant it couldn't be eaten. I emailed the hotel twice with feedback, however i received no reply. Prior to this the hotel responded quickly to emails. The 6 of us would not recommend this unwind & dine.
Recently stayed at Parkmore Hotel for a double birthday celebration with my friend. Staff were attentive and polite. The room was immaculate and the food in “The Birdcage” was incredible… highly recommend the tempura vegetables! Relaxed in the “Hideaway” spa and came home replenished. Looking forward to our next visit already!
stayed two nights had a spacious room lovely and clean, bathroom a very generous size well maintained. staff were very pleasant. loved the bar well maintained. lovely cooked breakfast plenty of choices just ask if you want anything different. plenty of free parking didnt use the spa facilities so cant comment on that.
A clean, spacious hotel. Good bar and lovely swimming pool with jacuzzi. In need of a update but very clean and welcoming. Family room was very spacious my only criticism is that the pillows were very hard.
Arrived at the Parkmore with my wife Christine and other family members for a 2 night stay to celebrate my 60th birthday whilst visiting Yarm. Pleasant and polite staff , rooms immaculate, prices reasonable, rooms were recently decorated and spotlessly clean. Beakfast was only food we had here but freshly cooked and good service. Would have scored full marks but visited the spa and changing rooms were very messy with toilets leaking water all over the floor.
The event was great the room was done it with lovely tables set out with Xmas crackers etc the 3 course meal was delicious I had soup beef fillet then lemon roulade the men loved playing with them ballon's that fly all over we had a great disco then we all did the conga it was great fun we definitely do it again next year
We had my Mum's 80th Birthday party here and it was excellent. Staff very friendly and polite and helpful in organising booking from start to finish. We had excellent time and the food was great and all our guests enjoyed it. Many thanks.
This is the second year we have booked for a Christmas party night and we have not been disappointed. The staff are very friendly and helpful, they work hard to make your evening run smoothly and the entertainment is great!Hopefully see you in December. Many thanks
We stayed for a weekend, Laura on the front desk was so friendly and helpful and really made us feel welcome, the blonde girl in the bar in the evening of Friday 18th was very helpful and polite and the 2 ladies on breakfast this morning were fab! Thank you so much for a lovely weekend!
Tired interiors and Spa facilities unavailable made this a poor experience. The promise offered by the Georgian exterior just doesn't follow through to the interior. The room was OK but again just not as comfortable as we'd hoped. Stayed here a couple of times, but only because it is the nearest hotel to family. Will be looking for a different hotel in the future even if it's less convenient a location.
Amazing stay! Couldn't fault it at all! The room was immaculate and bed was so comfy! Staff were so kind and helpful and nothing was too much! The dining experience was fantastic would highly recommend will be back again!
We decided to booked the unwind and dine and an overnight stay on a recommendation as we're in need of some serious relaxation. And wow the parkmore didn't disappoint. From checking in Laura on reception was so lovely our room was spacious and clean. We had full use of all the spa facilities which were so relaxing sauna steam room hydro pool swimming pool it was fantastic never felt so chilled. We booked our evening meal in the birdcage restaurant the choice on the unwind and dine menu was great we chose the fiery chilli buttered prawns served on toasted focaccia and creamy garlic mushrooms served on sourdough bread absolutely gorgeous portion size was amazing. We then had our mains We had chosen Parmesan crusted chicken fillet with baby vegetables mash potatoes with a herb and cream sauce WOW it was gorgeous so tender the presentation was fabulous. Then you just can't refuse dessert it had to be chocolate orange tart with raspberry sorbet and homemade praline oh it was divine to say the least. The service was amazing thank you grace & Lillie and the chefs great job loved your devotion to good food. We used the spa again this morning pre breakfast so relaxing then enjoyed the smoked salmon and poached eggs for breakfast. Divine so much choice such quality super super lovely staff amazing welcome we throughly enjoyed our relaxing weekend thank you everyone what a fabulous job you ALL do we will be back
Stayed with my elderley parents for a few nights prior to house move. It was a stressful time and my Mum had a fall. The staff without exception took care of us and went the extra mile. Food in the restaurant was really good too. We will definately use this hotel again. Well done and thank you from all of us.
Lovely hotel. Rooms are pretty basic but have everything you need and are comfortable. The leisure facilities are great and not too busy. The pool was warm, sauna and steam room were lovely. You need your own padlock for the lockers but I was able to leave my things safely with reception by the pool whilst I swam, I am sure they would've been fine but I only had one pair of shoes with me so didn't want them to walk off. Once in there I realised there was no reason to worry, the few locals using the facilities were very welcoming and friendly. The bar was quiet but I think the staff are what really make this place. So friendly and welcoming from arrival to being a lone female in a bar. I've felt so welcome and looked after here. Breakfast is ample. Good sized full English plus cereal, toast etc all available and a good amount of tea. If I can find another reason to come back to Yarm I will and won't hesitate to stay here again.
Decided to take a short break with my teenage daughters, in-laws and sister. Unfortunately the in-laws were ill & couldn't make it the lady on reception (Lauren I think) was wonderful as was her manager. For a cheap overnight stay it was well worth the money. Gym & spa facilities were good. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We did have an issue with the food but they compensated us accordingly. The lamb shank was absolutely delicious.
Lovely hotel with friendly staff, and great spa facilities, we were treated to the unwind and dine spa treatment as a birthday present and we decided to make a night of it and stay over, we were not disappointed and the food was great, we will definitely come back, many thanks to the team for the room upgrade for my wife's birthday it was a lovely gesture.
Came to dine with a family member as a treat, treated by a lovely lady who took drinks. Another took food we ordered starters and main. Starters were lovely very well presented made us look forward to our main, well what a disappointment. To order fillet steak with us priced at £29.95 you expect it to be good, asked for ribeye sides instead of the fillet, didn't get them the steak was tasteless no seasoning by the time I asked for the ribeye sides instead I said forget it as the steak was awful and the curry was presented lovely but for a chickpea curry so spicy couldn't even eat it so, On the menu says steamed rice which is spicy full of pepper and other seasoning which is miss leading. We left the full meal as it was to spicy and tasteless. After seeing such good advertisement of the menu on Instagram to try the new menu is massivelly disappointing. When having been before the food was great, just a shame something is different with the food served now.
I agree with most of the reviews on this page, I did leave feedback at the hotel. Room 146 Has no curtains just a roller blind that has a security light above the window letting light into the room all night, the carpets and walls were dirty, the shower was so hard to use I couldn't turn on or off without assistance, the doors and walls were both marked and definitely need attention, I wouldn't stay again & DEFINITELY not worth £100 per night. Better value in a Premmierinn
As there was a shortage of hotel rooms in the area near to my Head Office, a suite was booked for me. Apparently this is the best room in the hotel, or so I was told at dinner and breakfast. I bit my lip and didn't contradict them. I arrived on the 18th after work, the leaves covering the path should have been a clue, as I walked in the public areas seemed clean. The receptionist was pleasant, she showed me to the downstairs door of room 101 The Preston Suite, which had its own staircase. As I walked through the downstairs door, there was a bucket behind the door collecting water from the brown drips on the ceiling. Upon entering the room it seemed ok, then I turned on the light to be faced with the state of the carpet in the living room area. Thankfully the carpet in the bedroom wasn't as bad, but still had a number of stains. There was no iron, no hairdryer, no bulbs in the light above the dressing table, lighting in the bathroom was inadequate. There was one hand towel and just one bath towel. When I went to call room service, there was no menu and very oddly no phone. Obviously the Phone, the iron, the bulbs and the hairdryer must have been nicked. The carpet was an absolute disgrace, the management should be utterly ashamed.
We booked a colleague into the hotel 18.10.2022, the suite was tired, worn and the carpet was stained and dirty. We will not be booking any further business travellers in here unless it undergoes a full refurb.
I cannot thank The Parkmore staff enough for organising our wedding day. From start to finish everything was perfect. Continously keeping us updated with changes, meetings, wedding fayres etc. James and Rebecca couldn't have been more helpful leading upto the day and on the day. Our room was gorgeous, very convenient straight down the hallway on the bottom floor in private quarters, food was gorgeous, Marilyn who decorated the venue done an amazing job and continously ensured she had all the right details, DJ was amazing played all different songs suiting everyone's taste. I had no doubts or worries that the day wouldn't run smoothly, it was beyond perfect. Thankyou so much to all the Parkmore Staff! Shannon & Jarred
Stayed here before , this hotel has gone down hill. I was in room 112. Very tired and dirty, mattress sunken in the middle, needs replacement . Used to be a pan Asia restaurant and now a run of the mill bar food. Not great, low quality … don't think I would stay here again, rooms need some serious renovation
We had the relax and dine deal. At 29.95 we should have know that It was too good to be true. The spa is very tired and in desperate need of cleaning and refurbishment. The facilities were old and cracked. Water was cold. Sauna wasn't working. Had to ask for a towel. Told we had to bring our own padlock for the lockers. Food was clearly cheap and all bought in. The staff in the restaurant were however very pleasant and attentive. We did wait a long time for food though. There are lots of much nicer to places to go in the area- don't waste your time or money.
happy with the hotel and all the staff. Courtney and her team work very hard and are more than accommodating. hotel is a little tired which is why it only got a score of very good. we have stayed there at least 6 years on the trot and will definitely stay there again.
It's OK. Lobby bar and restaurant look good. Room was ROASTING hot. Ac on the wall but was told it does not work!? Called reception and was told I had a fan in my wardrobe, but none to be had. She then said she would try to find one but she was not sure there was any! Horrible nights sleep
We came for a wedding over the weekend and it was one of the worst hotels and weddings we've ever been to. The room was so bad and hot, it was outdated, no air con, window did not open, marked walls, extractor did not work in the bathroom so you were slipping over the floor with condensation from a shower. Good job we bought our own fan. When my husband closed the door the shower moved by itself and went everywhere whilst I was in it, not great. Only the ceremony room and the wedding reception room had aircon. The rest of the hotel was a furnace, it was far too hot for a wedding. There were no drinks served for children or those who did not want to drink alcohol like a number of people on my table. Only wine with the meal. We had to get our own water and drinks from the bar. Non-alcoholic drinks were only served for the speeches. Breakfast was OK limited selection of cereal, yoghurt and toast. The white toast was so hard I thought I would break my teeth. The cooked breakfast range was larger, but the bacon again really hard not sure if it was cooked and left on a hot plate. The staff were really hard working though and friendly, we felt sorry for them shifting furniture from the ceremony to the reception room in a heatwave. The wedding breakfast food was good. The pool was freezing cold and small. Plenty of parking but for the price we paid rivals like premier inn and hilton are cheaper with aircon and better rooms. Our room was so bad and old fashioned we would never stay at a best western again, they clearly do not care about their guests and want to get the most profit out of all the rooms since they know people will stop for the wedding and pay anything. They have 3 weddings a week these rooms should be fantastic. Finally the staff during check in did not mention to us if you have a mobile do not keep it close to the key card which wipes it, happened to us and the in-laws. Really just mention it if it is that common. Really annoying.
The hotel has a gym and pool, both of which are fairly decent though the gym was stiflingly hot and the pool is very small. Bar wasn't exactly atmospheric, it did however serve drinks so I guess it's a bar. Unfortunately being a hotel possibly the most important thing is the rooms and mine was dreadful. Small, tired appearance, and unbearably hot. The window only opened a fraction and that was onto my view of a roof covered in debris and cigarette ends.
We had our wedding day at the parkmore hotel, I stayed over the night before and used the spa with my bridesmaids too. It was the most perfect magical day me and my husband could have asked for. The parkmore was amazing. All the staff were so helpful, friendly and confident. The hotel manager James and wedding planner rebecca couldn't have been more organised and knowledgable in their job roles, they made me feel so relaxed about the day and everything ran so smoothly. The rooms were lovely and comfortable and the spa was nice and relaxing. I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking for just a stay or a wedding!!
Checked in today and checked out within half hour. Room was horrendous, what looked like mould on the carpet, tatty old chair, random persons sock, TV not working even tho told it would be. Do not book!! No hesitation from management when asked for a full refund so shows they know how bad it is! Oh and a hairdryer from the 70's
This hotel is one that just can't be bothered. No receptionist when I tried to check in, rooms are very basic, a blind but no curtain. No aircon either and it was very hot in the room but it can be noisy with the window open. No hot water in the morning, asked and was told as it was an old hotel they don't have enough water for everyone in the morning - for all 5 folk that were in breakfast! The food was actually decent though, and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. Would not recommend.
I have used this hotel for business and would describe myself as a regular. The reason for staying is I feel safe as a lone business woman. I used this hotel before covid, during lifted restrictions and now we are in full movement. Now so disappointed!
A bit dated and could be better in terms of customer service and experience (very little information about the day/night and conflicting information) but overall good package with value for money, with lovely cocktails and lovely food
Stayed here for two nights whilst on business in the local area. I did not use the bar or restaurant so could not really comment on this. The gym, pool and leisure facilities were good and the staff throughout were great. Unfortunately with the regards the bedroom the TV remote did not work (was replaced by another), the AC unit did not work (remote control missing), the fan brought in to replace the AC unit was broken and the TV did not work. The staff did their best to sort but it wasn't really great.
Where do I start? Let's list what went wrong - every corner there was a problem -Shower curtain fell down on my head (was a stupid pressure fitted rail - not for commercial use) - Towel rail fell down - Very dated room that was run down and only reasonably clean -No fan in room - told they didn't have enough - No bar snacks - told they don't sell any snacks - Fire alarm went off 4 times in the night - Bed lumpy and not very comfy - Room not serviced daily due to cost cutting measures (they claim due to covid - yeah makes sense clean the rooms less during covid…) -Room right by smoking area so couldn't have window open (why on earth would you put that by a bedroom window!?) - Orange juice had gone bad one morning and then the next morning the milk was bad and they had ran out of orange juice - Disabled friends of ours weren't even offered help with their bags… to get to the top floor - No lift!! -Wasn't even asked about how our stay was on checkout - most staff seem clueless/don't care -The spa was okay… lots of tiles missing and so so hot - the pool was too warm to swim and appallingly cloudy - not one cold shower to try and cool down in after the steam/sauna… but overall okay We stayed for a wedding and to be fair the wedding and reception was very good - but in no way could I even contemplate recommending this hotel to anyone given how expensive it is vs what's on offer Quite honestly I couldn't be bothered writing this review as words fail me… but hopefully it helps someone avoid it!! Could be nice but doesn't seem like anyone really cares, rooms very dated and untidy - evidently a complete lack of management or willingness to invest - but still charge a stupid amount
Stayed here while visiting family. The staff are wonderful and very friendly. The room was clean and spacious. The food and drink was delicious. Will definitely stay here again. The hotel and restaurant are Highly recommended.
My daughter had her wedding here and it was beautiful the staff couldn't do enough Rebecca Holgate was the coordinator and she was amazing the hotel was very clean the food was beautiful and plenty of it would highly recommend
Stayed for 1 night made full use of the leisure facilities, great value for money. The room was nice, the bed comfy. Breakfast in the morning was nice and relaxed, bar prices really good. Hope the lady who greeted us at the swimming pool reception had a nice holiday and a big thank you to Courtney your customer service skills are exceptional, you fully explained everything to me by email and over the phone.
We had a great stay all the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food was really nice and not over priced. We thoroughly enjoyed the spa facilities which was a most relaxing experience overall it was a great stay.
My partner and I got married at the Parkmore at the weekend and it was amazing! We stayed the evening before the wedding and had booked a meal with 23 guests. All enjoyed their food and drinks and noted how lovely their rooms were. I stayed in the bridal suit and it was amazing. It had everything I would need for getting ready in the next day, and was large enough for all my bridal party too. The room was very hot (due to the lovely weather) and there was a fan in the wardrobe. This was a great touch that was definintely appriciated! My sister and I ordered breakfast to our rooms the morning of the wedding which was lovely, as it meant I didn't risk bumping into the groom. Our wedding day here was just perfect. Not a thing went wrong - and if it did I didn't know about it! The staff were so friendly, warm and accomidating. They were regualrly checking in and just absolutely lovely. Had such a great time planning our wedding and James and Rebecca were so helpful. Was very grateful for the recommendations of suppliers, and James recommended our photographer who was absolutely fantastic. Everything about the venue excelled all expectations. Would completely recommend The Parkmore whole heartedly. Thank you for making our day so special!
Welcoming friendly reception and bar staff, visited Tuesday night, checked in promptly and served quickly on the bar. Great place. Great Burger with fantastic onion rings and the tastiest chips ever. I shall go back as soon as l can . Menu is not a mile long but will meet most needs Comfortable surroundings Spacious with good furnishings and good service.
Our initial room had a poor quality mattress, but we were offered a new room the following day without hesitation, and to top it off the staff even helped with our luggage from one room to another. All the staff were always helpful and polite, making it a very pleasurable stay.
Another night away and at this hotel. Good calue clean accommodation, decent bar, smashing staff and decent food in the restaurant- the Thai food is great, especially the Hot & Sour soup which is exactly that.
I have stayed many times over the years and always found it does the job. No problems about returning the next time the occasion arises. The front of house staff are always particularly pleasant and helpful
We booked to come here for valentines day an it was beuitiful the food was great the facilities were excellent room was clean staff were very friendly bar wasn't expensive like some hotels defo 1 not to be missed I would definitely recommend to friends and family
Party of fourteen for 2 nights new year festivities great stay.New years eve party night food and service excellent compliments to Chef and waiting staff.Superb cooked breakfast with any choice makes a change from buffet breakfasts.
Christmas Day lunch with family Was an absolute rip off. Would never go again. Everyone was very dissatisfied with what we got there was 9 of us and it was £72.50 per person had better take away Sunday lunch. I would not recommend it and will not be going again
The best western website created the wrong booking (it has done this to me once before) the hotel was very inflexible about this even after the manager admitted that he had a similar experience. I was charged for the missed stay and also the night I did stay albeit at a lower rate. If you have experienced problems, you should assist customers not penalise them. The junior executive rooms are next to the kitchen extractor which is noisy all evening and wakes you up at 6am. Heating has no control so rooms are just so hot it's only possible to sleep with the window open adding to the noise issue. Need a regular stay in this area, guess I will have to look elsewhere.
My colleague and I needed some last minute rooms as we unexpectedly needed to stay near Darlington due to the storm. A number of hotels were unavailable due to power cuts so we ended up here. First thing to say is that the staff really make this hotel. When our company made the booking online they immediately called to advise that there was a function at the hotel, with music until 11.30pm. This was very considerate of them. Jumping ahead slightly, sure enough the music was turned off when they said and there was no further disturbance. Back to the room. Yes, I had read reviews about it being tired and you can't help but agree. Old carpets, wallpaper, bathroom fittings, etc. It was clean though, with a hospitality tray and a TV with plenty of channels. The heating, however, was sporadic. There was just the one radiator, which I turned up full with little effect. Several hours later, it really kicked into life and needed turning down again. The next morning we went for breakfast and were pleased to be offered a hot breakfast at 7am, even though the room information stated it was continental until 8am. Plenty of tea and coffee refills were offered by the staff. It had that slightly older charm of real service. If this place just had a little bit of money put into it it could be really great.
First full family gathering for a birthday party since the start of lockdown. The roast dinners beef and chicken were excellent. Those that had salmon said it was the best they have ever eaten. The desserts were very good, sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Staff were all great. Special mention for Rebecca who was helpful from the start of booking the room. Can recommend the roast dinners.
I love this hotel! I use it for business safe and friendly and in a lovely residential area. The evening meal choice is excellent and cooked to perfection. The breakfast has choice, but a bit of a let down. Not enough helping yourself to coffee/ tea
Make sure the waiters read your order back to you to ensure it arrives correctly, especially regarding allergens. Good food but was better during covid restrictions. Full table service for breakfast last time was better than the B&B make it yourself this time.
We went to enjoy the event of the mistery murder which was amazing. In general the hotel is okay, quite clean, nice decoration... Breakfast a little bit poor: no lots of options, no fresh fruit or things to eat (scrambled eggs really small portion). The dinner wasn't great... starter not very proportioned and main quite dry. The dessert was lovely.
Helpful, friendly and professional staff. Cleanliness of accommodation and staff who will go the extra mile to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. I would recommend staying at this hotel and would definitely return in future
The Parkmore looks like a credible hotel but during this stay the rooms are dated with external noise from the air con units and terrible beds! Expensive for the area but clinging on to being close to yarm for some strange reason. A yesterday hotel that needs stripping out of brought into a modern era!!
Just returned from a surprise birthday party for my partner and the staff here honestly couldn't have done more for us they were absolutely fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble, every single staff member we engaged with was professional, friendly and hard working. As soon as we entred the purple peacock the young man there helped with all our decorations and even arranged for balloons at the end to be taken up to the room so we could swiftly get to our birthday activity in Yarm without delay. The reception staff stored items for us without problems, helped us to organise the cake, food for the evening meal was gorgeous, the leisure facilities were great. Everything was clean and well managed. Our room was fine the only thing that prevented it from being great was the TV didn't work and there were no curtains just a blind with the outdoor lights coming through the sides through the night (and I need it pitch black!) so didn't get much sleep, but the whole experience was very close to perfection and I would highly recommend this hotel, particularly the afternoon tea, spa, evening meal and stay deal we were on. Excellent value. Thank you so much for a memorable stay.
The stay was mixed. We asked for a ground floor room which was obliged The disadvantage for this was the noise from a drag disco or such and the constant noise of plant(air conditioning/boiler). I approached late on our first night a member of staff who said he would see what he could do. I don't believe it was possible to do anything . He didn't come back to me. I had a fitfull night's sleep. In the morning pulling back the shower curtain we found the bath extremely dirty from what probably was cleaning residue from a bucket. The housekeeper came cleaned and offered a room transfer due to the noise. This was done well and all was ok with the other room. I don't think the hotel should charge as much for room 132.
Stayed for one night for work, staff were pleasant food in the restaurant was ok, kudos for a different menu to the normal hotel fare but average quality. The rooms are clean but very tired and in need of maintenance. Furniture is old fashioned, wallpaper is peeling on most walls, my room had a skylight which the blind was stuck part way. Bathroom was especially run down with rust spots in the bath. That said the bed was comfortable and I got a reasonable nights sleep. I wouldn't stay again in its current state.
Booked the Roseberry suite in which we've stayed before to find there was no working tv, broken hot tub and peeling wallpaper. Really dissatisfied to find out that they don't advertise the hot tub anymore however they still show the hot tub in the suites photo reel. Manager informed me that hot tub not worked for more than 8yrs, so it hasn't been fixed or replaced.
We would like to thank all the staff for making our wedding day so special from start to finish. The day was perfect and could not have asked for more. The venue looked beautiful, the food was delicious, the service was excellent. All the guests only had nice things to say and we would definitely stay here again. Thank you for helping us celebrate our special day.
Staff were perfect, efficient couldn't ask for more. The food was a bit bland (breakfast) can't really fault anything else, I'm not sure if there was A/C in the gym. Brill Jacuzzi though! The bed was a standard double.
I emailed the events team enquiring details about booking the venue for an event. Received an email back from a female who normally deals with events asking for numbers , etc. Emailed her the details , no response for a few days so contacted the hotel events team via phone. Said the female had just returned from leave and would get back soon. This was a week ago. They haven't bothered contacting me. I have now found a better venue. Beware. They are not interested in your custom.
Checked in Friday night and had dinner in the Purple Peacock. Waitresses were pleasant and helpful, but for some reason only had Pepsi Max and no other types of cola orientated mixers. The food however was not worth very good and ended up with stomach cramps for my entire weekend stay. Asked to be moved due to people smoking on a patio area outside my room, but was told the hotel was full. Really? Was told that they weren't supposed to be smoking and that they would sort it. On the Saturday night there was a wedding party, and the noise was dreadful till gone 1.30 in the morning. Also the patio area was a smokers corner with multiple glasses filled with cigarette dimps. Because of this was unable to open my window all weekend. Was only happy when it was time to leave and go home. I'll never stay there again.
Having seen a review on here relating to my families staycation at the parkmore I have felt the need to respond. My wife and myself booked this with our 2 children. The room was great albeit a decent walk from the car with 2 kids. The staff couldn't do enough for ourselves to make it a nice stay from the team in the leisure club to the waiting staff in the restaurant. The guest who I believe made the negative review however was what can only be described as a prima Dona nightmare. Made a big scene in the restaurant which one of the girls on duty did remarkably well dealing with considering how inconsiderate he was being to her and fellow diners. If you are looking for a nice break away I would recommend staying here. The location is great with plenty to do with the kids. Just don't have too much fun otherwise you'll upset the fun police. Such as the guest who felt the need to publicly complain about my family
Stayed at the parkmore with my partner on a couples weekend away for my birthday. The restaurant food is 10/10, staff couldn't do enough for us and our room was spotless on arrival. Had a slot to stay in the spa for an hour and wish we could've stayed longer! Beautiful
This Hotel literally has to be one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in and once one thing goes wrong, you start to notice everything. Upon arrival - CCTV in the carpark hanging by a thread. We were checked in by the manager who was helpful. However, when we reached our room (family room for 4) it was not what was advertised on the website. Rather than the pictures promised, It literally looked like a boarding school dormitory room where the main double bed was pushed up against the wall and the wooden bed looked like it was on it's last legs as it was so rickety. We went and complained and we were given two rooms to compensate downstairs - things can only get better right. Maybe not... The main double bed mattress was so uncomfortable that my husband eventually ended up sleeping on a towel on the floor at 4am as he couldn't sleep and I barely slept. The toilet cistern was very old and dripped and gurgled all night long and was so loud, and our room smelt really badly of smoke. The twin room for our kids wasn't much better and theirs really smelt of smoke too. Really not great. At breakfast the next morning we were greeted by two staff who looked like they had no idea what was going on. The service was really slow as everything arrived one-by-one and was really basic. I tried asking questions about allergies, and got nowhere with the waiter. He didn't seem to understand my questions so in the end I went to reception and asked the girl on reception if she could find someone who could help me. Noone arrived. The "fresh fruit" advertised which was the only thing I was able to order arrived and it literally an apple and a banana in a bowl which I couldn't eat anyway due to the allergies I told him I have so I ate nothing. My daughter ordered from the breakfast menu and didn't get what was ordered. The other two member sof the family ordered and everything was microwaved and really greasy. Service was non existent and everything was so slow, and we were on of only around four tables in there! I went to check out of the room and the girl on the reception wasn't coping on the phone with people asking questions. She told a guest to "google" what facilities the hotel had as she was new and didn't know and when they tried to make a dinner reservation she said that she couldn't as her diary "didn't go that far into the future" not hugely helpful. I did complain and spoke to the manager later that day who explained that they were short staffed but even so, this hotel needs to massively work on their customer service skills and the rooms are in dire need of a refurb, plus they drastically need to improve breakfast. One plus was that the housekeeping staff were very friendly and the pool was adeqate.
This must be the worst place I have stayed. Staff too busy to even check you in. Bed uncomfortable. Kids making noise in corridor day and night. Food is disgusting to say the least. Omg Best Western you can do better than this. Would I visit again NO CHANCE NEVER.
Upon entry to my room, I was greeted with the smell of body odour and wax crayons. The room was not unclean, but it was certainly tired, with holes and cracks galore, interspersed with signs where patch repairs had been done and painted over. At night there was a loud, persistent hum from some units outside of the windows - they looked like air-conditioning units, (which simply added insult to injury as the room was hot and stuffy). The breakfast was pretty awful, with cheap ingredients indifferently cooked; one was enough. The second morning I settled for toast and for the rest of the stay we all skipped breakfast entirely. Have stayed at one other Best Western hotel and that was excellent, but the Parkmore was frankly embarrassing.
A lovely hotel, room was comfortable and spacious, spa area immaculate, very covid aware. Food and service excellent but a special shout out to Sophia who looked after us, nothing was too much trouble
Excellent hotel, with very friendly staff.. looked after myself & my little boy very well. We didn't dine in the evening only having breakfast which was superb, good quality ingredients & quick service. The bar & garden areas were good for a evening drink
Nice hotel with an excellent spa and well organised restaurant and bar. A plenty of parking spaces and well done garden. Hotel is located close to Yarm and Preston Park. Good place to stay for family visit, who wants to visit Preston Museum and Grounds and Butterfly World.
We took the family down to the Parkmore for the night to make use of the pool. We booked into the Purple Peacock for dinner and the overall experience was terrific. The family room and the corridors were a little dated but the stay was fantastic. The pool was divine and the food was delicious. Despite covid, the team were super efficient and friendly and we had a marvellous time. The children didn't want to leave.
Considering the current situation due to the virus couldnt fault our stay. The Hotel was its usual self except we were the only people in the leisure centre and the restaurant staff were attentive and pleasant. The addition of a new cocktail bat area was of interest to my partner who thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails
Well place for Yarm, this is a lovely little hotel. Friendly and welcoming staff throughout the stay. £15 seemed a lot per night for the dog, but otherwise all good. Public areas were clean and well kempt.
We've just returned from an overnight stay at the Parkmore Hotel. We booked the stay and dine package which included, bed, breakfast, three course meal and a bottle of prosecco for £130. This also included an hour in the spa which was really refreshing. We arrived justt after 12 and the lovely reception staff kindly let us check in early. The room itself was large and had been recently decorated and had new furnishings and furniture. The bathroom although very clean was still quite dated but functional. The reception area, bars and restaurant have all been updated to a really high standard but the corridors are still quite dated but didn't spoil anything. They had a one way system in place which most people seemed to follow but there were some areas which was not possible to have the one way system but this didnt seem to be too much of an issue. I'd already rang the hotel in advance to ask if we needed to book the spa and restaurant (which you do) so we were booked into the spa for 4pm. You get an hours access and there are 5 people allowed in at a time. There is basically the pool, the hot tub and the spa area so we decided to stay for 20 minutes in each area to.make sure it was fair to everyone. Luckily for us the other people got out after 45 minutes or so so we had the whole place to ourselves for a while. The spa itself is good bit there were some jets not working and some tiles missing but all in all quote good. The hot tub was lovely and hot and all of the jets seemed to work. The showers and changing rooms were all very clean too. We also used the gym which had modern equipment and was very clean and tidy ( we booked this when we arrived and timed this for an hour before the spa time). We also had a ealk along into Yarm itself which is a lovely country town and only around 1 mile away from the hotel. In our deap it said that we were supposed to have a bottle of prosecco in the room, this wasn't there so I mentioned to reception who advised that it would be in the dining room. We had booked 8pm for dinner so thought we would go down to the bar prior to this for a quick drink. Unfortunately the bar area was full so we sat on one of the lovely sofa's in the reception area but none of the bar staff came to check if we wanted a drink. Due to the new rules you're not supposed to walk up to the bar so we decided to wait until we were in the restaurant. It was fine though as we passed the time talking to another couple who were also waiting for a drink. Shortly before 8 we walked into the restaurant. The staff were lovely and explained that they would brink our food over to a tray and requested that we remove the items from the tray. I then mentioned that I was expecting a bottle of prosecco which they quickly brought over. The menu was quite good, with quite a few sections and everything we got was very tasty and we really enjoyed our meal. The staff were very good and are handling a difficult situation very well. They explained that some customers are unhappy that they've got to be out of the restaurant by 10pm but this was not an issue for us, I felt two hours was more than adequate to enjoy the food and a few drinks. We then retired for the night and both slept very well in the very comfortable bed. The room didn't have a hairdryer in but reception quickly delivered one when asked. The next morning we went down for breakfast at around 9am and there were only around 8 other people in at the same time so didn't feel busy or rushed. We had a lovely girl bringing our items and she also brought me an extra pot of tea. We both went for cooked breakfast and although everything was tasty it was all cold apart from the fried egg. I didnt complain though as I feep the staff habe enough to deal with but it would have been nicer if it was served hot. All in all we had a lovely stay, we both felt relaxed and refreshed after a busy time over the past few months. This hotel is literally only around 30 minutes away for us, so if any other offers become available I would probably book it again and would recommend to any one wanting a nice break for a cheap as chips price.
I stop in hotels on a regular basis through my job, but I will never stay here again or recommend it to anyone. The hotel, reception, corridors all look fine. Unfortunately the room, was tiny, there were marks on the walls, ceiling, and skirting board, making it look grubby. The tiling in the bathroom looked like an amateur had fitted it, and there were holes in the ceiling above the shower, which had been covered up with tape. The radiator and towel rack were rusty. There was a loud whirring noise which sounded like an old boiler and the noise from other occupants in surrounding rooms could be clearly heard. Although I was one floor up, the view from the window looked out on to a dirty walkway, with windows from other rooms facing mine, so although the room was extremely hot, I was reluctant to open the window. The room was extremely hot although radiator was off and the air conditioning unit, did not respond to the air conditioning remote control system.
This was an amazing hotel. The reception area was beautiful. Jenny on reception was extremely friendly and helpful throughout communications with the hotel. My room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. Nice pool. The WiFi connection was also very good. The Purple Peacock restaurant served delicious Thai food, worth a visit. The breakfast was also very good, but service a little slow. A great place to stay.
A lovely hotel with excellent staff. The main meal was delicious as was the breakfast. The waiters, Eva and Jordan, were outstanding despite many requests from ourselves and others. First rate overall.
Fabulous!! So muchhhh food, cakes, scones and sandwiches, all to die for!! Will be back again, very reasonable prices. Lovely waiter, very approachable:) Scones very a personal favourite and there very generous with the cream and jam ;)
We've just got back home from our 2 night stay and it was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and we were made to feel so welcome. From cocktails on arrival to all of the amazing food I'm gutted to be back home but can honestly say it won't be long before I return and enjoy the hotel, food and spa.
The Spa has everything and was enjoyable however there were a few tiles missing in the hydrotherapy pool and the tiles needed a bit of a clean. The cream tea was wonderful it was one of the best Gluten Free cream teas I've had. Warm scones and a good choice of cakes ginger, chocolate tart and cheesecake the sandwiches were fresh as well. It was well worth the voucher price on its own.
I stayed here while I was working away. All of the staff were efficient, welcoming and friendly. The hotel is comfortable enough and it's clean. The bar was fine- old style which I prefer but the bar meal wasn't great. The breakfast was nice though.
First of all where do I even start with this young gentlemen, this lovely man was polite, jolly and not to mention very helpful, give this man some credit. Despite being active at all time doing Gods work, he was giving people extra things to improve their meals, cracking little jokes with the customers to add a spark to the room. Well done Ben
Stayed for a spa and Hotel for overnight stay . After reading previous reviews I was not looking forward to it . But I have to say I was very impressed by hotel spa food and amazing staff who made our night a brilliant one .
I've been here a few times and it was a nice place but now so so bad. I have 2 beds of different firmness pushed together for a double. Heating hardly works. Hot water just splutters and the restaurant well it took an hour to get a piece of salmon! I don't know what is going on but they need to up their game in a big way! Avoid!!!!
Visited the Parkmore after a break of over 30 years. Surprisingly some things were familiar. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Spa was pretty average with some things not fully functioning. The hotel overall is a bit tired and in need of upgrading to keep pace with chain hotels
We take our little one swimming here on a weekly basis and each week I am disgusted by the cleanliness of the pool area and changing rooms. The floor is covered in hairs, wet toilet paper and general black dirt. A facility of this type needs to be at the very least wiped down and mopped every hour or two - not a big ask. When it was announced it was shutting for a whole month in late 2019 I was delighted at the thought it was going to be transformed but I can honestly say I have no idea what has changed. Get your act together Parkmore.
Staff are all efficient and helpful. Nice relaxed atmosphere in the public areas. Rooms are a good size, clean and fresh with a couple of comfy easy chairs, nice and warm and windows can be opened too. The beds would benefit from either new mattresses or toppers as you can feel the springs . Some lightbulbs not working in room. Problems with WC in room not flushing meant long inconvenient trips to public toilet downstairs. As hotel was full we had to wait till next day to be moved to a different room.
I stayed at the Hotel Parkmore on a number of occassions throughout January 2020 and found the following, Helpful staff, good food clean but dated rooms but overall nice place to stay, perfect for the current work project I'm working on.
My friends and I decided to try for food in the Purple Peacock, we had a really nice time, food was superb. I wouldn't normally have a steak pie but decided to give it a go. Absolutely delicious as were the other meals. Thank you for looking after us so well Anjie, we'll be back again next month for our girls night.
Staff was nice and front desk was helpful. Then I went to eat in the restaurant and ordered a pint of coke, then when I tasted it it was like cheap cola with a cleaning product taste. when I asked this doesn't taste right I was told someone else has said that the other day too! but they have been cleaned out last week so should be ok. So I left it and ordered a glass of orange cordial, blerr water wasn't the best taste and the orange bottle it was kept in looked like it has just sat on the self In the window for years so this was taken to my room and left. The food was nice but not much to choose from. The room was old with what looked like antique wooden draws and wardrobes and the bed was so squeaky it kept me awake! Nice place just needs to be updated and fresh for what I like.
Had a fantastic couple of nights here. would have liked to stay for more but work commitments needed us to return, Hotel, food, staff and leisure complex were of excellent standard, Really enjoyed our stay.
A lovely place , clean bedrooms , unfortunately the juccuzz heating was not working ,there wasn't any clean towels ready for us . Looking forward to a different supper after the Christmas meals we were told that the resterant only sold roast dinners on a Sunday , the food wasn't nice at all no stuffing left ,felt as if the meal was hours old , looking forward to breakfast ,it was over cooked ,in fact every one in the resterant complained that the breakfast was over cook and burned , a very disappointing stay as the staff were friendly,
Had Xmas Day Lunch at this hotel with family, Service very slow, No atmosphere in dining room, Low background Christmas music would have been lovely and no decorations in dining room, very bland... Had expected more....
Friendly hotel needed which was dog friendly. Staff were SO helpful and food was outstanding. We initially only booked for 1 night but found we needed an extra night. They were very accommodating. We felt welcomed.
This is the first time we have been to the spa since the refurb. It looks a lot more modern, however the facilities themselves haven't changed much. The spa is small but adequate for casual spa goers like us. People used to 4 or 5 star spas may be disappointed. The afternoon tea in the new restaurant was excellent and definitely recommended!
I have stayed at this hotel twice now.i understood it was being refurbished and therefore booked a second stay. The bedroom had dirt on the walls and felt grubby. The towels and bedding were very clean and fresh smelling. However there was a cushion placed on the bed that had an awful smell. There is no safe in the bedroom. The bathroom was very clean and well maintained. The bed was quite comfortable. I tried to get a drink in the bar several times but there was no staff anywhere to be seen most of the time. There is a pool and gym. You need a padlock for the lockers in the changing rooms. I did go out to buy one but it didn't fit. It would have been helpful if there was padlocks for sale on the premises. My glasses went missing because there was nowhere secure for my belongings. Staff did not seem concerned that my glasses were missing. The pools was clean and a good size. There is a lovely spa pol but some of the jets were not working and were also not working Several months earlier when I visited. The pool area had been refurbished since my last visit but I couldn't see any improvements. The steam room and sauna were working well and very clean. The restaurant looked a lot more inviting than the last time I visited but I didn't have breakfast.
Faded carpets, no hot water for morning shower despite leaving running for over 10 minutes, over-starched sheets, lumpy bed, flimsy curtains, broken plastic kettle. Despite its prime location it really feel short on quality and comfort. For similar money stay Premier Inn.
15 minute walk to Yarm, lively town with great bars and restaurants. The hotel room was OK, but hot water did take a while to come through. Friendly staff, good breakfast menu. Has electric car charging points
Staff night out... very friendly staff! Bedroom was clean and comfortable! Purple peacock restaurant... amazing food and service. Would definitely go back. 20 minute walk from town centre. Very well placed.
Check in staff friendly and welcoming. Single room was small but had everything you'd expect but mattress was poor and shower very cosy. Ordered room service and food was very nice. Breakfast was ok but lacking in pastries etc. Al in all ok for the occasional overnight stay.
Stayed for 2 nights room only deal on Best Western "Rewards" offer - reasonable price at £123.20 - but I guess you get what you pay for. Really nice welcome from receptionist but disappointed to learn that the pool facilities were not available due to ongoing refurbishment (no mention on website)however gym still open. Ground floor bedroom clean but dated - looked out on to beer garden - comfortable bed. Walls paper thin and OK I snore but guy next door beat me in the snoring stakes so sleep quality not good. Well equipped gym and quiet about 6pm. Hot water took a while to come through on Friday night and on Saturday night no hot water and same situation next morning. Checking out receptionist had the courtesy to ask about my stay and I commented re the water - apparently builders were the cause during the refurb. Can't comment on restaurants or bars but looked good when walking past same. Described as "your brilliantly different hotel" somewhat aspirational.....
I had my wedding at the newly refurbished Parkmore Hotel on the 17/08/19. From start to finish (even the build up to the big day), our wedding co-ordinator/general manager of the hotel (James Leeds) was absolutely amazing support/help. He made sure that me (and my now wife) were comfortable and everything was clearly understood. He made the wedding build up a stress-free process, and I cannot thank him enough for that. The wedding day itself was very organised by all of the staff at the Parkmore, with rooms being turned around very efficiently with no issues at all. Every member of staff was helpful and it was so refreshing to see (especially on our big day!). Every one of our guests, both on the day itself and afterwards, commented on the high standard of service offered by the Parkmore. From the speedy bar service, to the quality of room set-up. I cannot fault the team in any way, they were outstanding. One major piece of feedback from literally ALL of our guests was the high class food served at our wedding breakfast. It was out of this world! Tasted phenomenal and was served in a timely manner, very organised and again, all staff were on hand to help. I'm so thankful to James and the whole team at the Parkmore for the help and support, before, during and after our big day. Without their help, I know it wouldn't have ran anywhere near as smooth. Perfect venue for a wedding, very affordable, very high standard service (from all points of view) and would 100% recommend to anyone looking to plan a wedding. THANKS AGAIN TO ALL STAFF AT THE PARKMORE HOTEL!
i arranged a meeting of a groups of friends and we chose the Parkmore. After cocktails in the Purple Peacock we had our meal in the Yarm Suite. The food was excellent. The service was efficent. The staff were very freindly and courteous. We were welcome to stay there as long as we wished. two of us who were staying in the hotel sat and talked until 2am. This was not a problem at all. The night porter chatted to us and said we could stay there as long as we wished. He was very friendly.
Attended a wedding in the newly refurbished function room and stayed over night. Excellent room, food was amazing, bar prices were cheaper than we expected. Used the pool facilities, very clean and lovely area (was closing for refurbishment the day we used it). Can't wait to see it once its been done.
Loved this hotel! All staff fantastic, leisure club great and food was delicious. I'd definitely return. Room tip...the roseberry suite (rm 117) is lovely but as its above restaurant you will hear music from first thing in morning.
Having just joined the Best Western rewards program and visiting yarm, we chose the Parkmore. On arrival it was immediately obvious that they are in the process of a major revamp and so looks like it will get better. Our first room offered was close to scaffolding and a ventilation pipe. As with the hot weather we would need the window open at night and so asked for another. This proved no problem and we were very happy with our ground floor room 131. As well as breakfast we had dinner in the Purple Peacock restaurant. My pork belly with nan and rice was excellent and better than expected. We had a family gathering later in the second evening and the staff were happy for us to rearrange the lounge bar furniture to accomodate the 12 people. Yes a good choice stay and very friendly staff. would return here without a second thought.
After wakening up during the night I walked in to the bathroom and cut my foot on glass after inspecting the floor I found another 5 pieces of glass on the floor obviously cleaners not doing their job properly
Had a cream tea today with the family and it was absolutely delicious. We were greeted and shown to our seats immediately and served very quickly. Our sandwiches were excellent and so fresh. We had a vegetarian in our party and their selection was also excellent. The scones were served warm and were gorgeous. As for the chocolate desert and selection of cakes they too were spot on. The lady looking after us was so attentive and filled our tea pots up three times to ensure were never ran out, First class service and food well worth a visit.
When we speak of hotel, we think of a cosy place with all amenities for temporary stay. It lacks touches of companionship and passion; hence even with all its comforts and luxuries it can't cater to your soul for long. Hence when I was told that I would have to spend a month in The Parkmore, Eaglescliffe, UK for a project, I wasn't too sure of the experience I was heading to. Eaglescliffe is a small town in the borough of Stockton-on-Tees in North East England. It is on the north bank of the River Tees and for ceremonial purposes is in County Durham (source: Wikipedia). The Parkmore hotel is one of the best in the area and is located very close to Eaglescliffe Railway station, and at walking distance from Yarm. When we reached it was dark and the locality was asleep. The Parkmore is a boutique hotel as they call in England; it isn't too big but had a cosy vintage vibe. The fireplace and the leather covered couches, made the lounge look snug and welcoming. Further it was Christmas time and the decorations had already lighted up the place. The rooms however are small with a bed, side table, dressing table, kettle, cupboard and a comfortable bathroom with a tub. I stayed there for a month from 24th November to 23rd December 2018. And I don't know if the place grew on me, due to its fairy tale like surroundings and intoxicating Christmas Air, or the narrator mind unified with tales that must have seeded in the room. But I felt of pain of parting. Probably living alone gives you the rare chance to analyse your lost whims. The work went well and we also travelled around England on weekends. But what touched my heart was the hospitality and homeliness of the place. As an Indian I didn't have much food choices, but I loved few of them. The breakfast spread was monotonous but truly healthy. I remember they even made me pancakes which wasn't a part of their menu. Overall The Parkmore is a cosy abode and I made some good tales lazing on that bed.
Enjoyed an excellent afternoon tea here as part of a Christmas present. Good choice of sandwiches, delightful scones and cakes. Met by pleasant staff member at Reception and given choice of where to sit. Service very good and would recommend.
Just back from an overnight stay at parkmore, room was ready for us even though we were early, check in was easy and staff lovely. Our room had been updated a little but im more bothered about the comfort and cleanliness, both of which were great. The rude people next door talked till 3am and then were up at 6am was my only issue which is obviously not tge hotels fault. We got back to hotel after a concert at midnight and fancied some nibbles but with no shops open it would of been great if the hotel sold snacks even from a small vending machine. Thank you.
Whilst service at reception was delivered efficiently with a smile, sadly the room and food was very disappointing. A musty smell throughout the hotel including the bedroom, which was in need of updating. A comfortable night's sleep none the less. Wi-fi hit and miss. Felt a bit cold in the room too. Breakfast was pretty much self service with help yourself tea which had been standing for quite a while and therefore wasn't the piping hot cuppa I would have liked. The ‘make your own' toaster was also not switched on. Serving tea and toast would have made the experience much nicer for me and given the handful in the breakfast room should have been possible. My breakfast was also not freshly cooked and therefore a bit leathery. I wouldn't choose to return but thank the staff for their service.
We just returned from 2 days stay here after visiting the Croft Circuit for Caterham Racing and before anything else I want to thank the staff we encountered on our visit - so friendly, efficient and hardworking !! . I picked the hotel really due to the pool and gym and our daughter was very happy with the facilities on that front, as was I for a budget hotel stay I can't complain at all. So, yes it's a bit of a dated hotel and as expected at this level their were niggles. shower in the room was not fantastic and don't put a little one in there on their own as the slightest turn can make it boiling or freezing. It also takes a good while to heat up so turn it on and let it run, don't stand there in a towel waiting though pop your feet up on the bed for a bit. Hairdryer is pants so take your own. beds were comfy enough (although of course that's personal taste) and we found the pillows to be fine. You can't control the heating by a thermo in the room so it was cold on arrival but heated up nicely to a point we needed to open a window so all good. Now,dinner was disappointing in that the food although tasty was cold in parts of it looked like a timing issue which we forgave at that point- waitress was lovely. Breakfast time and the waitress was absolutely fab. Attentive, friendly and welcoming. Worth noting that actual restaurant is having a refurb so meals are in a events suite. We had full English and we were so disappointed - I have never seen mushrooms so shriveled and they were stone cold, the black pudding was crispy, the bacon had been grilled on one side only on and obviously overlapping when cooked and it was cold - baked beans and sausage were ok but that was it. We did complain as and our waitress could not apologise enough and was obviously really embarrassed and we were not charged.so I am unsure if it was the same chef on Friday night and Saturday morning but if it was some training could be useful. We ate out at the Shoulder of Mutton in Middleton Tyas on the Saturday night as we had been burnt by now a couple of times at PM - dinner was fab there but that's for another review!! Apparently PM close in August for a Million pound refurb one of the locals told us, not sure how accurate that is but if true we shall certainly come back as that on top of their first class FOH, waitresses and cleaning staff we encountered it should be a great place, although we will probably eat elsewhere!!
Room (137) was disappointing. We asked for a twin room and were given a room with a double and single bed. The single had no bedlight. The double had a bedlight but was so high on the wall, one had to get out of bed and kneel on the bed to operate it. We asked for a bedlight for the single bed and were given one with a broken bulb. On Saturday we arrived back at the hotel about 12 noon and the room hadn't been serviced. This was fair enough but the towels had been removed and not replaced, so we couldn't even dry our hands. It took ages for the water to run hot, and on Sunday night it didn't come hot at all. The pressure was so poor from the bath taps that we had to fill the bath with the shower head. On two occasions the room key did not work and we had to return to reception. It had not been kept near a mobile phone. On Friday night at about 11.15, the fire alarm went off. We went downstairs and the night porter told us everything was OK and switched the alarm off. We had no sooner returned to our room than it went off again. Again we went downstairs but were told to return to our rooms as the problem had been resolved. We got no satisfaction when we asked what the problem had been. Reporting all those problems (card 2, lamp/bulb 2, towels 1 and fire alarm 2, meant we were up and down the stairs 7 extra times and we are quite elderly. Our adult son joined us for Sunday night (room 140) and he had no hot water at all on Sunday and had to wait till Monday morning to get a shower. In all it was a very disappointing experience. We visited Parkmore about 4 years ago with another 3 couples. They were also in the Stockton area last weekend, but decided to go to a different hotel because of previous problems with the Parkmore. We decided to give it another go, but this will be the last.
After arriving I quickly found out I had been wrongly advised on booking that we could use our meerkat deal. But we very much appreciated that they offered to honour it , as that was the only reason we booked there as had never been before . The set menu was ok , 4 options per course , adult size and children's size. No separate children's menu . Then when arranging the bill they became very awkward not honouring the deal fully ( not allowing my parents who had only two courses each to pay separately to us who had 3 ) and even charging the two children's meals as adults ! ? when asked why the answer I received was .... “because the children didn't specify when ordering that they wanted the children's size meal rather than the adults” my two 9 year old's and us , apparently should have specified that the two children wanted children's size meals rather than the adult size ? What ? Being heavily pregnant and my birthday , I didn't have the strength to argue ! so we just paid and left , and won't be returning , was a lovely setting some what quiet , but it Would have been a lovely day if it hadn't been ruined my incompetent awkward staff .
Lovely sunny afternoon on the terrace. Food very good. Spent a couple of hours in the hot tub/pool/sauna/steam room and hydrotherapy pool. Excellent. A bit dated but most enjoyable and had everything. Only gripe were the lockers - told to take a padlock which we did but were far from big enough. Will return soon minus any valuables!
What a disappointment for lunch. On arrival the place lacked atmosphere due to shortage of customers. Food was ordered and wait was 32minutes for starter. Main course was below standard as lamb was rare and inedible. Waitress was asked to advise chef of concerns but no feedback was forthcoming. This is the worst meal we have had after using hotel for numerous large family functions Will not be returning and cannot recommend
Once again had another superb meal at the Parkmore. As always , the staff were so polite and helpful. The service was excellent and the waiting staff were so attentive. I really recommend this hotel and it is also very dog friendly!
I thought long and hard as to whether I should grade this hotel 3 or 4 star. It is probably in between the two. The staff are friendly and hard working. There is excellent wifi and nice comfy lounges with multi channel TVs. There is a well-stocked bar with flexibility where to eat meals. . The bed and breakfast rate is competitive including free use of the leisure facilities, there is free parking and Yarm is a 20 minute walk away. There are some negatives however. Our sleep quality was poor because the radiator was turned to high and there was a very loud train station running trains which we could hear clearly from our room. The decor is tired looking and there are touches needing improvement e.g. the clock in the bedroom was still on GMT rather than BST. Breakfast on our first morning was under par and the cold buffet very sparse but was much better on the second day. The dining room is deadly quiet and lacking in atmosphere in the evening. Nevertheless I will stay here again when I am in the area.
Had a lovely afternoon at the Parkmore with several friends. We enjoyed the spa, massage with Diane was very good and then a beautifully presented meal (tasted good to) would recommend- great value . It was easy to park the car and reception area looks newly decorated. Friendly staff - remember to bring your own towel and padlock for lockers!!!
OK, not the most expensive Afternoon Tea experience I have had, but for £14.00 there were some expectations......(a) The afternoon tea goodies did not arrive on a plate stand, as normal, but just on flat plates.....(b) No table cloths on table, (c) Scones arrive piled on a plate, no cream, no jam, no butter.....had to ask for them. When they came, the jam and cream were served in a split vegetable dish....the jam had just been tipped straight out of the jar.....the shape was there indicating coming straight out of the jar + the dish came with only one spoon. Not enough sandwiches for the number of guests.....all in all, not a great experience, and one that I will not be repeating or recommending.
Had a lovely day here for my birthday with my friend. Lovely jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and pool area, staff were lovely and friendly and the afternoon tea was gorgeous. We were even squashed in to get eyebrows/lashes done despite not booking beforehand. Lovely day and couldn't fault it. Reading the reviews it seems some people will moan about anything! Would defo recommend and will probably come again soon
Me and my partner have previously stayed in this hotel and due to a fault in the room, had an unsettled night. BUT, the hotel have most definitely redeemed them selves. We stayed last weekend, and thoroughly enjoyed our selves. Warm welcome from the young lady at reception, who talked us through what we needed to know about our stay. The room was modern, clean and spacious. Additional spa access which was a bonus, staff again very friendly and helpful. Breakfast staff the most friendly of all, breakfast was very tasty! Lots of variety. Would like to thank all staff for our stay as we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Staff really friendly and helpful, could do with a bit of investment but the staff make up for everything. I stayed for just over a month and the facilities are great. Worth a walk in to Yarm, an amazing town with lots of places to eat and drink
Quick overnight visit with friends. Stayed in The Orchid Suite which was lovely. Very quiet and spacious, lounge area with sofas and to. Four poster bed. Staff were very attentive and a great full English breakfast on the Sunday morning rounded off our stay. Plenty of parking too.
Have stayed here before ,friendly staff, good clean well appointed room, especially with this being a dog friendly room. Lovely breakfast in the morning. This hotel is ideally situated for Yarm. Stockton, middlesbrough
First time staying in the hotel and I was pleasantly surprised. Room had everything I needed was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the spa and pool areas so much we used the morning before we checked out to. I've visited this hotel on a few occasions and each time staff are always lovely and accomadating. Will be returning in the near future.
Lunch at the Parkmore hotel, in the lounge, was ok but the service was a bit slow which apparently was due to the coronation chicken being freshly made, so if you are in a bit of a hurry don't go for the coronation chicken.
On a positive note, the staff were all friendly, attentive and helpful - but the rooms are dated and have paper thin walls. Breakfast service was hit and miss during the stay, full buffet selection one morning and hardly anything available the next. If you stay here and looking to eat, suggest you take a short taxi ride to Yarm where you will find a great selection of restaraunts.
Have stayed here several times, the highlight is the decent sized pool and gym. The hotel itself leaves much to be desired. The rooms lack sound insulation so you can here the neighbouring TV and shower. Bar food is edible but quality is not good. Breakfast is an interesting experience - the orange juice/apple juice tastes like its been watered down! This hotel seems to be tired and struggling and quality of stay is reducing every time. Time for a new hotel.
We visited in January for the fit and feast deal. We had use of the pool, gym, the hydrotherapy spa, jacuzzi and saunas. The day ended in the restaurant, the food was tremendous, great presentation and flavours. I can only assume the restaurant was quiet due to the fact that we ate early. We will definitely be back 10/10 First class food
My third visit here on business over several years. Rather basic comfort but acceptable and clean. Restaurant almost deserted (a Wednesday in November) but attentive staff and an excellent fish dinner. An adequate breakfast.
I've never written a review before but I wanted to say how amazing the staff were at the Parkmore hotel. It's a 3 star hotel but actually it's staff are five star! Our two year old started antibiotics for a chest infection the other day and they helped us out keeping them in a fridge. Then when he was sick at breakfast they were incredibly kind and helpful and nothing was too much bother for them. They even looked after my six year old and made him some breakfast whilst I took the two year old back to the room to clean him up. I would definitely recommend this hotel for families. What I ate of the breakfast was delicious also!
First of all the staff are absolute quality in this place from the reception to the restaurant they are faultless, The food in this place is top notch for the price overall would gladly stay again, And its not very far from the centre of Yarm
Exceptional service, food and great room very minor issue the tv in the room was like a postage stamp. The staff are always polite really nice and genuinely friendly I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Last time I stayed the breakfast was a buffet and cold and horrible. The freshly cooked breakfast this time was delivered to my table and was amazing. The dinner was again fantastic and very reasonable stay here you won't be disappointed.
Stayed for 3 nights whilst attending a training course. Excellent food in the restaurant and thr service was great can't fault this hotel. I tried the gym and it was fine, plenty of equipment and pool looked good. Great location had a nice walk into Yarm, took 15 mins. Chris in reception was very friendly and helpful. My room was always clean and tidy, the only downside it be fair its could do with modernisation but personally It did not dampen my experience. Overall enjoyed my stay and recommend the Park More.
We returned after a particularly bad visit a few weeks ago and this time we were not disappointed. The spa is always great and we love the hydrotherapy pool and the steam room the best. Our food this time was amazing, we had the fit n feast and we loved every mouthful. The staff were brilliant this time, but a special mention must go to Sue who is a real gem and a very lovely lady. It was very nice that they wanted to improve on our past experience and I am so glad they did, we had an amazing experience. Thanks for that, it was a great start to my special birthday celebrations. Thanks again. X
I organised a reunion of some work colleagues. From the initial booking to final check out the staff were amazing. We had a buffet on the Saturday evening . All the guests enjoyed it with personal attention from a male member of staff (sorry didn't get his name) We sat in a very relaxed atmosphere until the early hours of the morning, chatting, drinking and enjoying each others company. Eventually and subtly another member of staff asked us to move to the bar. The rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable and breakfast was delicious. (I organised a reunion at another Best Western hotel last year, not too far away - the food there was more expensive and not as good)
This was a tired looking hotel in need of updating, our room had been recently refurbished but smelt of cat pee! The spa needs updating however it was clean and staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was good with great choice.
£160 for a suite and breakfast for 2. The room was dated, bed and sofas uncomfortable, bathroom just an assortment of repairs. Breakfast was tasteless, dry and some things not available. Don't waste your money here
Kevin on Reception showed me and my son's some wicked Kung Fu moves. No ask was to much, and the hotel was immaculate. 100% would stay here again! Staff are an absolute credit to the business! The breakfast was freshly cooked and tea and coffee came out on request, sausages were locally sourced and delicious
Had a great stay here and everything needed was there. Great time in the spa. Room was very nice as we upgraded to the Orchid suite. Food is good with out been to fancy. Recommend fully. Free parking and check in and out was easy.
I stayed here with 11 others for 4 weeks for a work course. the facilities were fantastic, the pool and spa were much needed and were clean and lovely and all the rooms were furnished nice and were cleaned everyday. the morning breakfast and evening meals were fantastic and we were all very full at the end of every day. we couldn't praise the staff enough, everyone was lovely and they all went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. we would definitely recommend this hotel! Thank you Alex and your family and staff for a brilliant stay! "Mint"
Stayed here with some colleagues on business. Rooms were ok although can't remember ever staying in a hotel with a ceiling fan in this country! Staff at check in, breakfast and the bar very friendly. Free parking. Close to restaurants and pubs in Yarm.
We've just returned from a lovely Sunday lunch in the courtyard at the Parkmore. My husband, mother in law and puppy all received such a lovely warm welcome from our host, Wayne. Not only was the food good and the courtyard relaxing but we received excellent service. We will be returning again and I definitely recommend this venue for your Sunday lunch!
was made to feei very welcome room was ideal even though it smelt of paint opened window cured thatfood very good staff could/nt do enough made sure every body was happy the only problem was no lift for some of the elderly on higher floors
Was absolutly lovely excellent day, everything you could want for a relaxing day xx was clean and staff were lovely. Quite a few people were in and still nothing was spoilt. We had lunch which was cooked ,presented and served lovely x
When arriving at this hotel we were greeted by the lovely lady on reception who pointed us in the right direction and wished us a lovely day. We absolutely loved our very long morning of relaxing and using all the facilities on offer. It was never to busy you couldn't use anything. We then had lunch booked and we choose to eat outside in the garden area which was lovely with the sunshine. The person who served us was a man named Wayne and I have to say what a lovely guy he made sure we had everything we needed and was definitely an asset to the hotel. The food was outstanding and we were very impressed. We will definitely be back to visit this hotel again. Thank you very much for a lovely day.
Just stayed and have to say staff are very friendly food was excellent evening meal and breakfast. Had to change room as was a very low bed in the room allocated and I have mobility issues so was no good for me but was soon changed room with no hassle. Spa facilities ok. Nice area outside to sit and enjoy a drink. Well done staff for dealing with the situation with the room next door to us. Mr Boyle and partner
This is a great location and a great hotel the people who work in the hotel are superb so nice and friendly the lady on reception when I checked in (tall blonde lady) lovely and helpful, dinner was very good and reasonable Wayne was very helpful and good fun. Dinner was plenty and excellent quality. The hotel is close to a railway line that can be heard but not a problem. Only downside was breakfast really poor quality and freezing cold when I pointed this out it was immediately removed and a fresh cooked breakfast was offered. Stay here I will go back. Brilliant place.
Have stayed many times over past 20 years, hotel is now tired and in need of TLC. Attention to detail missing on a few levels. My husband ordered a full English (from the kitchen not a buffet) minus hash browns, I order 4 items from menu including hash browns my hubby was disappointed when his breakfast arrived as a duplicate of mine minus hash browns ... beans, egg and one sausage, we were not offered toast. We were the only people dining on Friday evening, the restaurant used to be full whenever we have stayed before.
ROOM - Bedding is terrible and very thin. Decor is dated to begin with, but also has lots of dents and paint chips all around. Internet is dodgy, No phone in room and TV did nt work. Food is ok though and the people are very friendly. HOTEL - Again it is very dated all around and ensembles something from the 1980's. The bar was friendly and the service is very good. The food is reasonable for the price you pay. The outside of the hotel is not very welcoming.
Hotel is nice. Food was good and with this great weather there is an enclosed area at the back for alfresco dining. Only problem. WIFI is intermittent. Works for free minutes then disappears. Best Western please sort it out
I received a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. My room was lovely and well equipped and I had the best night's sleep which is proof of a good bed! I took my dinner as room service and it was a generous portion and very fresh and tasty. The back garden is very relaxing to sit in during the summer evening.
I recently visited this hotel on business for the first time. Its a old hotel which they've tried to modernise but probably done on a fairly low budget. It creates a place that seems clean but not overly impressive in terms of decor. Saying that, it was the cheapest hotel in the area and was good value for money. Service was good and no complaints. I had breakfast which at £19 was steep but convenient at least and it was fairly nice. I would stay again on business but would be looking for a more luxurious hotel if I visited the area for pleasure
The hotel was wonderfully quiet - there were not many guests staying on a Friday night. We loved the leaded window on the main stairs although the wallpaper in the dining room and on the stairs was inappropriate for the Victorian building. My friend thought the bedroom was too hot overnight (we stayed during the heatwave) despite the open window. My big disappointment was the cooked breakfast. The Craster kipper was a sad small thing, a lurid shade of orange and delivered without its head or tail. The tiny piece I dropped on my trousers has left a permanent stain (was it really a Craster kipper?)
Stayed at the Parkmore for a couple of nights and managed to obtain a special rate for more than one night that included breakfast. Hotel is well placed with plenty of off-road parking. Room was large and comfortable although, being at the back of the hotel on the ground floor next to the car park and not far from the railway line, meant that we could not sleep with any windows open on some of the hottest days of the year. Breakfast on the first day was very good with a choice of cooked meals from a breakfast menu. The second day however was bordering on chaotic. I think that there was probably a staff shortage but the menu had gone and it was self service for the cooked food from a hotplate. There seemed to be a continual shortage of cereal plates, milk, granola, yoghurts and orange juice. We muddled through and the food available was good, if not what I had hoped to eat. As a resident we made full use of the spa. The pool is small but as good as some other hotels that I have visited. It was 2m deep at one end and the water was warm. The jacuzzi was good and the hydrotherapy pool was great. Residents can borrow towels from the spa desk. We did not try the gym. Overall, I would use the Parkmore again as it is convenient and one of the better places available in the area. The breakfast experience was disappointing. The rooms comfortable is rather warm and noisy and the spa was a bonus. Very good free wifi.
We recently attended my daughters wedding at this hotel and it was fantastic. The honeymoon suite large and well fitted out. The staff were 1st class throughout the day from the bar staff to the waiting staff everyone we met were so helpful. Food was lovely and the y layout of the hotel ensures everyone can find somewhere nice to sit, Lovely little court yard to sit out in and the ideal venue for a wedding. The wedding planner was outstanding and nothing was to much trouble. The reception room looked amasing and I can recommend it for anyone else looking for a wedding venue. Food was delicious throughout the day. I have previously had the carvery and cream teas at this venue and they are always spot on too.
I took 13 friends here for afternoon tea on 15th June for my 70th birthday. We had a really wonderful time. The food was excellent and all the staff we met were really helpful - nothing was a trouble. I had made a couple of requests regarding the tea and wasn't sure if they would do it but they had - nothing had been forgotten. I would recommend the Parkmore for anyone wanting an afternoon tea - brilliant.
After looking at the pics of the bedrooms on here I'm positive we were at a different hotel! The room was dated, shabby and the bathroom unclean and full of peoples hair urgh. We booked because of the pool and we were given 3 shabby towels, I asked for five ( one each) but they had none ready!!! The towels were like rags! The floors filthy and the tiles cracked. The grate over the drain around the whole pool was broken with green algae growing out of it and plasters stuck in it!!! I I booked through booking . Com who after a week and photographic evidence have offered me a £20!refund!!! Best western said that the hotel were unable to offer any refund at all but assured me that the hotel was undergoing a refurb and that the room we stayed in was at the top of the list. Doesn't help us though. Very disappointing
What a super little gym. Great facilities: lovely pool, well equipped gym, lovely hydro pool, sauna and steam room. Staff are courteous and service is good. The showers are clean and warm although I found the changing room a little chilly. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend. Haven't attended any classes yet or used the beauty salon but fully intend to.
Myself & my fiancé stayed here as it was an engagement gift to us. Our room was upgraded to a suite and it was a good size and clean and modern. We had a 3 course evening meal included and each course was delicious and of a high standard, the waiting staff were very polite too. We had breakfast the next morning which was also nice. The only slight negative point is that the food took quite a while to be served. The gentleman working on reception was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for him.
A very comfortable stay, the room was kept very clean. The staff were very helpful and smart in appearance. The restaurant service and food were very good. I would definitely consider using this Hotel or others in the chain again.
to be honest this hotel was only to be a meeting place for a few friends,it turned out to be an excellent place to stay with very helpful and efficient staff, the rooms are a good size and very clean, we had dinner in the restaurant on our first night, tasty food and a varied menu no complaints there, also good selection for breakfast. Yarm town centre is about a 20 minute walk or 5 minutes by taxi from the hotel, its also on the main bus route into town Yarm itself has many pubs and restaurants, we would highly recommend Uno for lunch or evening meal great atmosphere, excellent menu and a great welcome, also the Raj Bari Indian restaurant has very good food, while we were in the area we visited Masham and the old peculiar brewery and shop only a 25 min drive south and Bartram castle well worth visiting
Visited this hotel recently as part of a treat from the family at Christmas. First of all I must say that the staff were excellent , however the Spa facility was average and very tired main pool being cold, sauna small, bedroom very canny and food also canny, that said don't think we will be hurrying back too soon.
I've stayed at this hotel several times over the years. It's ok for a night, there isn't a great deal of choice close by other than a premier inn. Staff are nice and welcoming, the restaurant is ok but you'd be better going into Yarm to eat. There always seems more staff than guests in the restaurant, which always made me feel a bit like I couldn't relax and eat. Breakfast isn't amazing considering the breakfast you'd get at the premier inn down the road, I've often been faced with curled up cheese and dried up meats on the continental selection, and the choice of fruit was very limited indeed. Rooms are ok and the pool is ok too. If you need a bed for the night then this is perfectly fine
We used to live locally to the Parkmore and returned for a reunion, we chose the parkmore for its convenient location, the room was clean and spacious with a nice view of the courtyard. We arrived late on the evening but food was still available, the food was tasty and portions were great especially after a 6 hour drive. All in all a lovely hotel in a great area.
Food/meal in the restaurant was nice but spa is a state; run down, dirty, broken steam room (out of order for six weeks according to members). Sauna thermostat is faulty too. A poor lady on the desk trying to serve drinks and deal with spa visitors on her own. Lovely lady and kindly looked after our valuables as, the lockers have no locks, you have to bring your own! Oh, and they don't provide towels! Whole place needs a good pressure wash and some bleach.
Everything to do with wedding was fine, but we booked a room to stay the night & were given a small pokey room that was extremely hot & noisy,as wedding guests the hotel must have assumed that we didn't matter as all the noise would be coming from the wedding, our room was looking onto a roof & fire escape with noisy extractor fans going, the room was definitely in need of a refurbish. Breakfast was good plenty of choice & hot, however the receptionist on checkout was quite rude, when i asked for some wedding cake as we hadn't been told about it the night of wedding, she rolled her eyes & tutted at me,not really the right attitude for front of house staff, We enjoyed the wedding ,but wont be rushing back to stay here again, have stayed in much more up market places with polite & accommodating staff for much more reasonable price
My wife and I booked a return visit to the Parkmore Hotel as part of a second Groupon deal, this included three course evening meal and breakfast with full use of the spa. All staff, as our previous visit, are friendly and helpful, The room we were allocated this time was ground floor and was adequate with a view onto the courtyard. The spa was fine, we already new that the changing rooms required your own, personal, lock to secure your belongings, we took locks but they were too small, tried the family changing room but we couldn't get the new £1 coins to work in the lockers so we had to leave our lockers unlocked, the steam room was also out of service. Our room, as mentioned, was adequate, little things that disappoint, the kettle didn't work, it was changed no problem and the tv remote didn't work, bit more of a pain because it was about 9.30pm and we had to get it changed, again, this was done on request. The evening meal was our biggest disappointment, after last years visit when the choices had been from the main menu but excluding steaks, this years choice was from a limited menu, our room had copies of the restaurant menus so we had decided what to have before our meal, the limited menu we received in the restaurant didn't reflect what we had originally decided on, what we chose from the reduced menu we would not normally have selected for an evening meal, saying this, the food was tasty, well presented with excellent, friendly service. The breakfast was again disappointing, buffet style, and when we arrived about 9am was relatively poor, Finishing on a positive note, I know the family run Hotel prides themselves on customer service and I agree, the staff are excellent, nothing is too much bother. The Hotel is fine and comfortable, its the little things that are wrong that make a difference, these little things that are wrong create negativity in reviews. The main points of this review were verbally given to the receptionist and were also written down on the feedback form which was also handed to the receptionist.
This is possibly one of the worst hotels i have ever stayed in. Beds and pillows highly uncomfortable, lumpy and can feel the springs pushing through. Wifi in the Rooms (ive had 2 different rooms) is absolutely abysmal to say the least, cant even check e-mails most of the time using the wifi. You can hear ever noise outside the windows all night long, every bird or car passing by sounds like its right outside the window, this along with the noise of creaky pipes in the night is not good when your trying to sleep! These rooms need updating, as there is wallpaper peeling, paint chipped off, dirty marks on walls etc. Breakfast was nice and staff are lovely, but that is as far as you praise this hotel for. Would not ever stop here again by choice.
The room was so bad we only stayed 30 mins. Very small room, small double bed, lumpy mattress. Bathroom that looked like it was from the Noah's Ark. No lift, leisure pool occupied by young swimmers club so no access till 5pm. This is what I would describe as a contractors hotel and not for weekend leisure visitors.
Although some of the rooms have not been modernised in recent times don't let this put you off staying here. The rooms are clean and offer everything you need, the other facilities are up to the standard of most hotels I have stayed in and the health club is an added bonus. The jewel in this hotel's crown is the food which is excellent. I usually go out to dinner when away on business but not here.
Purchased a voucher last minute on living social. Wasn't sure if we would get booked in but the girl on reception could not have been more accommodating. We paid £14.50 each and it's ideal for a budget day out. The staff were so helpful and polite from start to finish. Please note if you are wanting to use the lockers in changing room you will need to take a padlock with you, we didn't and didn't realise you needed one. Luckily we bagged 2 loungers and kept our close bu. There are tables where you can also leave your things. I really think they should do robe hire as ideal for those wanting afternoon tea by the pool. Staff in the pool area nothing was a bother. We had a quick sandwich for lunch as we arrived early and it was lovely and reasonably priced. The pool area is a little tired but suits its purpose, loved the hydrotherapy pool, there is also a good size jacuzzi, pool, steam and sauna. Lovely relaxing afternoon. The afternoon tea was delicious, all fresh, cakes tasty and the little bottle of prosecco an added bonus. We got parked easily to the rear of the hotel with plenty of spaces. Ideal day out, don't forget to take your own towels. Would recommend and would return.
Bought a Wowcher for two people including B&B and dinner. I recently went online to re-check reviews about this hotel and was quite disappointed with some of the comments. I was dreading the trip! Have to say: Staff were superb, everyone we encountered was lovely and extremely helpful. There was a limited menu for the Wowcher deal which obviously one expects. I realised that I couldn't have the fish and chips because thee was beer in the batter. so I told our waitress to just give me chips and mushy peas. She took the order but then returned to say that the chef said that if I wanted the fish, he could do it without the batter. Compliments to the chef: The fish was delicious! It's those little things that make a difference! We went to the bar and there was no lime cordial for my 'Lime n Soda'. The young lady took our order and went to find some lime cordial for me. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Very very friendly staff! The room was clean and fresh and a good size. The spa area was mainly clean. It did need a little maintenance work as a couple of tiles were broken. But this was not a major issue. We had an amazing time using the sauna, Jacuzzi, hydrotherapy pool and swimming pool. A thoroughly enjoyable little stay!
Purchased via Groupon. Hotel excellent and inviting, staff friendly and polite. Evening meal was extremely well presented, if anything, could not eat it all as portions were huge. Breakfast was lovely with a good selection. The spa, sauna, swimming pool and gym were all clean. For what we paid for the Groupon voucher this was definitely value for money!
I found my room fine. I can see the hotel hasn't been modernised for some time but it was clean and comfortable for what I needed. Breakfast is expensive for what it is- but you expect that in this sort of hotel. If I had a car with me I would probably have driven into Yarm for food.
We stayed here for my friends 30th Birthday. The firsts impression of the hotel, was that it was nice from the entrance and the reception seemed like a nice welcoming area. The room I stayed in seemed nice enough. Looked like it had recently been modernised and was clean. The bathroom however I felt was still in need of a refurb and was of a slightly lower standard to the room itself. ( Mould spots on the ceiling, dirty grout etc - could have easily been addressed). After checking in we went to use the facilities. All of the facilities - pool, jacuzzi, hydro pool, sauna and solarium were all Fantastic to use, but I felt the pool area was grubby. Surrounding the pool next to where the gym adjoined looked very dirty. The floor leading from the entrance into the changing rooms was mucky too, where people have walked through in outdoor shoes. Either enforce shoe protectors or tell people to take their shoes off. It's not nice when you have bare feet! We ate lunch at the poolside, which was lovely and the service was really good. We then ate in the restaurant as part of our deal we got a 3 course meal - the menu was very basic and different to the normal menu, offering things like pie and chips or fish and chips, ( which is not what I expected in a restaurant environment) but can honestly say the food was good and seemed fresh and handmade. Service was always fantastic too. Bar could have done with some music to create an atmosphere later on but that's just my preference. Breakfast was lovely and you could help yourself. Only small amounts put out at a time meant it was fresher and not sat for ages. Checking out, once again staff very attentive and friendly. I would return.
What a dump ......Booked a deal on Wowcher for my husband Christmas present .So we travel from West Yorkshire looking forward to a night away on our own . The deal was bed and breakfast and a three course meal ,I payed £99.00 . We drove I to carpark first think we seen was old mattress not a great look . The front entrance of hotel looked nice .When to reception booked in .Got our room which was ok but very dated . We decided to try the leisure facilities that i was really looking forward to I was so disappointed it was run down it was dirty it all need a good scrub we stay 20 min in the facilities. but decided we had to leave .We got our things from our room and drove back home .Did not want to eat there the standard I wouldnt class it as a 1 star. So I just wasted £99.00 .. I have stayed in superior youth hostel .So no happy at all .It needs a full makeover .and a good clean .
Having previously had a couple of meals at The Parkmore which were a bit disappointing I was reluctant to visit again; however decided to try the Sunday carvery. All serving staff were helpful and attentive and the quality of food very good. Myself and my husband had the salmon and crayfish salad, which consisted of a large portion of salmon and crayfish, however it would have benefitted from more salad and maybe a slice of bread. The carvery offered three meats, beef, turkey and gammon. The beef and the vegetables were delicious, however the gammon was a bit dry We couldn't,manage a dessert. This is very good value for money and we will be returning.
I regularly stay at Best Western Hotels around the country, but this was far and above the worst. Stayed here for 2 nights and it was the worst sleep I've ever had in a hotel. There was a loud vibrating noise constantly throughout day and night, lasting for around 4-5 minutes each time. I'm assuming it was something to do with the toilet or water system or something like that; but it was so loud I couldn't even hear the TV, and definitely couldn't sleep in it! There is also a constant ambient humming noise in the room and therefore I had 2 extremely restless nights. Top the above off with very small uncomfortable beds and extremely dated rooms. There was no plug socket anywhere near the bed which with all the devices people have these days makes a poor experience. I couldn't relax in bed with my phone charging catching up on emails. The rooms really need a refresh, but looking around I get the feeling management have tried to avoid spending money here at all costs. The breakfast experience was appalling. Selection is limited compared to most similar hotels and wasn't the best tasting. Juice and yogurts were warm where they have been left out so long. The weather was bad during our stay and on the first night they hadn't gritted the ramp outside the hotel, very slippy and an accident waiting to happen. The evening meal in the restaurant was good, albeit a bit slow. The prices at the bar are extremely reasonable for a hotel. The WiFi was very good and worked with our corporate VPN which is useful. I was also going to compliment the staff as all I spoke with were friendly, however whilst waiting for colleagues on the seating in reception I could hear the staff in the office by reception talking rudely about customers and their habits. Extremely unprofessional. All in all when I am near Stockton again I shall by staying elsewhere, and will recommend colleagues do the same. A shame as normally BW hotels are a good nights stay. but this one misses the mark in a number of ways
I have just returned from having festive lunch which we booked several months ago and paid a deposit. Apart from there being to much gravy on the plate the food was okay just your average Sunday Lunch and nothing to complain about. However what there is to complain about is that I thought we were having a festive lunch when what we got was the two of us being shown into a large empty room with smooth radio playing in the background. If it hadn't been for the Christmas songs you would not have known it was Christmas eve. There were no decorations, not even Christmas themed napkins, just a grey coloured one, nothing at all festive. The waiter did explain they were setting up for tomorrow which seemed to be an excuse for putting us into such a drab room. Not good when we expected a festive atmosphere. Surely something could have been done to make it seem like Christmas, even a cheap cracker and a bit of tinsel round a candle would have been better then nothing. I would wish you a Merry Christmas but I'll just say Merry Sunday Lunch as that is what we experienced.
I've now stayed here several times, so I know what to expect, however, on this recent stay it appears that the hotel rooms have been refreshed. The room I stayed in was nicely decorated in bright colours, none of that dreary 1970's dark wallpaper. The bed was super comfortable, bathroom very clean and well lit, furnishing all in good condition. Tea and coffee facilities are provided in the room with plenty of supplies. Breakfast was very good, full English with good quality meats, plus wider selection of cereals, bread, and croissants. Really did set me up for the day. The staff here were very welcoming, from the front desk to the restaurant service, there was a genuine warmth. Certainly a place I would go back to when I'm next in the area.
Went with twelve friends for a precooked Festive Lunch, and found the table beautifully set. The waiters were very polite and promptly brought our drinks order. All the food arrived hot, very well cooked and delicious. Can't wait for next years Festive Lunch, or hopefully a casual meal during the year.
The hotel and staff are nice enough the room small but fine with everything you need for a short break. The breakfast was the worst I have ever had for years, sausages were disgusting the bacon and black pudding over cooked and inedible and the orange juice very poor quality
Pretty good location for going into yarm £4 ish taxi run. Rooms were a little dated but clean and comfortable. Pool etc was nice, had Sarni meal for lunch which was nice. Meal on the night they did not have all the things available on the menu but was nice although not lovely. Breakfast we had to wait for items to be refilled and ask for this n that but the food was tasty.
We spent Saturday night here as a gift for my wife for her 6oth birthday. The good thing about the Hotel is the staff they are exceptional both friendly and professional they add to the hotels experience. The rooms are a little dated and the hotel could do with a major overall. It was freezing outside when we arrived but the room was a little chilly even with the only radiator working open fully. The room was very clean as was the bathroom. The Gym was a great addition as I used it Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, The breakfast was very good as was the quality. We also had an evening meal here which was exceptional and plentiful as neither of us could finish the entire meal. I would recommend anyone to try the Tagine of Spicy Lamb absolutely wonderful. Again the Restaurant staff were attentive and friendly
I popped in as I live nearby but have only been for functions, thought I'd have a drink. We had a few drinks and hadn't made a reservation for food but they were very accommodating. Had a lovely meal and the staff were great. Was served by Megan and she was happy to answer questions and recommend food. Didn't have a wait for extra drinks to be ordered, checked if everything was ok and Puds were a hit! Would recommend.
This review is for the restaurant, I didn't stay in the hotel. I have never been to The Parkmore despite living nearby for many years. I went in for dinner a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is not luxurious but it was tasteful and clean. The food was really good, tasty and hot and I was really happy with it. The best part of our experience was tne service, we were looked after by Meagan D and she was such a lovely girl, really polite and professional. I will return in the New Year, I am planning a lunch with friends and hopefully it will be here.
Came due to a close friends recommendation, I was astounded by the delicious flavors and tastes that bounced around my mouth, by far the best meal I've had out. Having said that, the service and politeness of the staff was as good as the food ! Lovely lovely night topped off by an excellent waitress who kindly served us at a tippity top rate. Looking at the bill the A* waitresses name was Megan.
The service here was fabulous, such friendly hard working staff made dining here Great pleasure, Megan D, a young waitress, made a great impression and was so polite. Because of this I'm definitely coming back. Thanks Megan!
I was very happy with this hotel. It was quite cheap with free use of the pool and spa etc which some places add a charge for. Didn't realise there was more choice for breakfast or would have been very happy to have had smoked salmon. Staff nice and a £4 taxi ride to the local bars and restaurants . We did not pick the dearest room but it still had a sofa and dressing area away from the bed and tv.
We booked this hotel last minute, choosing a deal which include 3 course dinner, bed and breakfast — all for just £99! At first I wasn't gonna go ahead when I found out it's location, because ideally we want somewhere quiet, with a countryside feel, so we can also go for a walk, then go back to the hotel to use the leisure facilities (the sauna & steam room is perfect after a winter walk!). I've seen this deal in livingsocial, it's says North Yorkshire, so I thought it will be quiet. Anyway, we went ahead and booked it because we wanted to do something different, like use the gym together, the sauna etc... best decision ever! The hotel staff are friendly, specially the hotel receptionist, I forgot to take his name, but he's very helpful, cheeedul and welcoming. Our room was a decent size, cozy and clean. Bathroom was clean too, and there was a shampoo, soap and shower/bath cream provided (maybe a complimentary toothbrush/toothpaste would have been handy too) for those staying for one night, which we did, thankfully we brought our own. As planned, we went for a Walk and explored the nearby museum which is a mile away from the hotel, and was surprised to discover a beautiful woodland and a river (see photos). The hotel's location is quieter than I've expected. When we got back to the hotel, we've used their gym, which have some decent equipment, again, the staff there was very helpful and accommodating. They also provide towels if you need. Again, leisure area was clean. We've used the steam room, the sauna was packed, wish it was bigger?! Decent sized pool and changing rooms. After that we've headed to the restaurant for our 3 course dinner, it was quiet, maybe the music should be a little bit louder and can make the room cozier? Just a suggestion. Again, we weee very satisfied with the meal, portions weee decent, taste-wise, it's all lovely! Drinks price are also decent, maybe should include a cocktail in the menu? Would be nice! The breakfast, which was a buffet, with a choice of continental and English breakfast really impressed us! All were freshly made and are of good quality. Coffee was filtered and fresh, we loved it! Overall, a great experience' we will definitely be coming back!
The hotel is right next to a main road so a room at the front of the hotel will rule out opening the windows to cool the room due to the traffic noise. I asked to be moved and was put into a room on the other side. The room was cooler and had an AC unit but unfortunately, there was some kind of machinery (boiler perhaps), outside the window which woke me in the early hours. The free Wi-Fi here is exceptionally good. 40Mbps download and 20Mbps upload meant streaming Netflix and getting work done was much easier than normal in hotels where you are relying on basic Wi-Fi speeds. I had dinner in the bar. The prawn linguine was very nice with loads of juicy prawns in it. My colleague had a lamb tagine which he said was excellent also. If you like a warm room or are a very heavy sleeper then this hotel will be fine for you. In my opinion the heating/cooling system needs an upgrade as this seemed to be at the root of my gripes.
Had my 18th birthday party here in the Yarm Suite and the staff were so helpful! Asked them to take glasses of prosecco round the room and they made sure that everyone had one and also offered people orange juice in replacement Lovely staff and hotel
Decent sized car park with generous parking spaces. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast served early (from 6am) but only continental from 6 until 7, full cooked from 7. The continental choice was very basic, probably the most basic I have every seen (the charge was just under £10 for the continental - I wouldn't bother, get breakfast on your way to work. Basic bathroom but clean and mold free Room basic but clean. Cheap mattress, a bit soft and itchy. No air-conditioning but it was getting into winter so no issue. My room was facing the road so opening the window would bring in some road noise. Very poor wireless, I couldnt connect in the dining room or my hotel room (reception didn't mention wireless so it may be for staff only) No glasses (plastic or otherwise) in the room. Dinner was OK - tasty and average to large portions. However, everything was so hot I suspect some earlier cooking and the use of a microwave. Normally I would rate this hotel as average but on the basis that my nightly stay (£21 for dinner) cost over £110, I would say this is a poor hotel - there are better/cheaper hotels around.
I traveled from London by train and took cab here and not knowing there was station quite close by the room was comfortable sadly my nights sleep was disturbed by another guest returning some time after midnight and again by what I now know was a passing train However the food was good and reasonably priced the breakfast also very good and the Hotel reception arranged a cab which arrived promptly A good stay despite the nights disturbance
I stayed here some months ago whilst on business, The hotel is in a good location, not too far from the restaurants of Yarm but far enough away to be quiet. The rooms are slightly basic, but good enough to rest your head after a days travelling. The bar area, whilst small is adequately stocked with drinks. Food from the bar is of a good standard. Breakfast items can be ordered when seated or cereals picked up from the table area at the rear.
we stayed here for just 1 night. read the reviews on here and thought they were a bit iffy. just shows you not to take reviews on here for gospel as we had a great experience. the girl on the front desk could not be happier or more helpful - probably the attitude you go in with reflects on the service eh? i cannot remember the girls name but she was back on at checkout on the saturday morning and still smiling and helpful. we chose this hotel as it was walking distance to Yarm without the traffic of driving into Yarm. it was about 20mins walk to yarm and £3.60 in taxi back. the room was very small but very clean and had all you would expect - tea, coffee etc. the bar downstairs was basic but we had nice drinks in the lounge before and after we went out. we never used the pool but noticed it was nice and quite busy. breakfast was buffet style and again had all you would want and was good quality. to summarise - dont be scared to book here - its exacty as you would expect
Attended friends golden wedding celebration and was made very welcome by the hotel... Room was very clean and well maintained, only one problem being disabled NO ELEVATOR and difficulty climing two flights of stairs.
Came for carvery lunch with my family. On arrival we were left to stand for 10 mins at the room entrance before anyone acknowledged us- baring in mind there were 3 tables taken. Food cold and overcooked. No Yorkshire puddings, gravy, stuffing or vegetables left and it was 1pm. One lovely young male waiter but the others were awful. None of the staff knew each other's names. No atmosphere and I would never go again. Waste of money
An excellent experience in a very friendly environment. From the check in man at reception who was lovely and very helpful and allowed us to check in early as we'd driven from very early morning in southampton and for a long time. He couldn't have been more helpful. The room itself was very well presented ( 117). The house keeping staff were very welcoming with a smile and always a hello or good morning. The lady who knocked to offer towels or a room clean was very helpful and happily got more coffee and milk for me. The leisure facilities were excellent. Again staffed by people who were very approachable and friendly and showed us around with a smile. The facilities were spotless and the changing rooms were very clean and the lady who was cleaning them was super helpful and showed me how the lockers worked! The breakfast room was clean, well organised with welcoming staff who were friendly and approachable and always smiling. I don't think I could rate this hotel highly enough, we all loved our stay here and would definitely recommend and come back.
Check in was smooth and efficient, front desk staff were friendly and always willing to help when needed! 5 stars for customer service. Each room is a bit different, I managed to see three of them. They rooms super clean and well equipped. Wished they had air conditioning as it was summer and the room was really warm. All in all great stay and bonus location close to yarm
I have stayed at a few Best Westerns hotels and this one is no better. Reception staff were okay but that's about all not particularly welcoming. I asked for a quiet room as they had a wedding party in and I had had a busy day and needed a good nights sleep. They gave me a room overlooking the car park which was busy, but plenty of space so that was good and with the windows open you could see the trains going past not just heard them. I asked what time the pool spa was open as I had been told to bring my shorts it makes a change to be able to take advantage of all the facilities. Sorry its closed for the annual clean or something I didn't hear what. I was fuming I did have a look on the website to see if I had missed it being closed no I hadn't missed it they just don't tell you until its too late.Breakfast was interesting I ordered my customary omelette. it was terrible tasted like cardboard. That's all I had ordered they forgot to tell me if I wanted bacon beans or anything else then I had to order them at the same time it took about 15 minutes for the omelette I wasn't going to wait another 15 minutes for bacon. The tea was horrible. Orange and cereal were okay but you cant really mess that up can you! I just left.....Hungry at £127.00 a night for a 3* hotel I expected more. I left really disappointed. I am writing to their head office.
Stayed here for 3 Nights. My company booked this hotel. The Staff that I interacted with were helpful, friendly and polite. Room I was given was very basic and tired. Bed and pillows were hard... they wouldn't have looked out of place in a prison. It was extremely hot in the room and noticed the window was wide open (which I couldn't close to prevent local wildlife entering). There was a ceiling fan and another fan in the wardrobe. It was obvious that comfort was not going to rate highly during my stay, which proved to be the case. Bathroom / shower was fine. TV remote worked when it felt like it... reported it after first nights stay.... still the same when I left. I had a meal in the restaurant on the first night. Food was OK, but not a great selection that suited my tastes. Didn't like having food served on a wooden board, however hygienic it may have been.... for me it's NOT cool! For the rest of my stay, I did not eat anything at the hotel (even though my company was paying for it), so I cannot comment on the breakfast or any other food. Car Parking was fine with plenty of spaces... even when busy. Location was good and a "stone's throw" from the centre of Yarm. Needless to say, I had 3 very uncomfortable nights of sleep with bed, pillows and heat taking centre stage Would I pay to stay here again? No.. I wouldn't... not when I could book into a Premier Inn with a comfortable bed and surroundings... a no-brainer... even if it is in a "box" room (as previously quoted) Feedback: COMFORT is key!
I stayed here for one night. The hotel is in a pleasant location and there was ample parking. The room was small and dated - nothing like the pictures. It was pretty well equipped; kettle, tea/coffee and one of those wall mounted irons (really horrible to iron a lounge shirt on). I had dinner in the restaurant and it was delicious (lamb burger). They also graced me with a free pint for being a Rewards member. The breakfast was a disappointment. First time I've had to drink orange squash instead of orange juice. I had the continental breakfast. It was quite basic, again, not up to Best Western standard. The wifi worked well and the staff are very pleasant.
We attended a wedding at the parkmore hotel we booked in on the 8 th of sept for two nights . The receptionist Sarah scowled at us and snapped that we couldn't book in untill 2pm we were unaware if this no smile and very surly. We presented ourselves back at reception at 2pm booked in also with no smile and when we had our keys Sarah said she didn't know if the room was ready as she hadn't,t seen the housekeepers I said that we would check when we went to the room . The wedding reception was on the Saturday and breakfast was well under our expectations and I hoped that the food At the reception was going to an improvement sadly this was not to be as my partner had a fly on her carrots and the meal was returned they replaced it I have never had roast beef that was that thin in my life and the whole meal was under cooked and you could see the plate through the gravy never again best western should check the standards of the hotels that they put there name to as their reputation is in the hotels hands.
Booked the spa and afternoon tea for my mams 50th had a absolutely lovely time. The jacuzzi was lovely and hot it was all clean the afternoon tea was fresh and homemade. The man on the reception was very kind and helpful. Couldnt fault it at all. Thanks for a lovely day
Went here for a friends wedding, on arrival we were able to check in early which was great and the wedding went really well food was great and everything was well organised, room was a bit cold but clean and comfortable however the real let down was the following morning, we went down to breakfast to find the only tables were for large parties, we would have preferred a smaller table for two but were left sat with people we didn't really know selection of food was hopeless not prepared at all one guest asked for scrambled egg to be left waiting for over 30 minutes, no tea or coffee and left waiting for food to be refilled in the end I gave up and did without, the couple of staff seemed clueless to say the least, on complaining about this at reception was told two staff had let them down and the room cost was adjusted but not a word of apology won't be going again
Recently had our wedding here they went above and beyond for us and all staff were brilliant and very friendly. Everyone at the wedding said how beautiful the room was set up and how lovely the food was. The orchard suite was lovely very spacious and Homely. We couldn't have asked for a better venue for our day!
My wife and I attended a friends 70th birthday party at the Parkmore. Slight problem finding the place as the prominent outside signage is for Best Western with Parkmore Hotel in much smaller lettering. Nice decor inside and friendly staff . We had a hot and cold buffet followed by individual lemon meringue and birthday cake, all very nice.
Rang to make booking, even though was done over phone with specific requirements this was messed up so room was nothing like requirements. Receptionist was good as gold though in remediating. Breakfast as always is good however found a friendly fly had decided to use the cold meat selection to lay its eggs, luckily spotted it before eating, staff member took the piece of meat left us with the remaining meat to eat, as if was going to do that! No apology or anything. Raised it as complaint at check out was told someone would be notified and that was that, not best way to handle complaint, or complaints about food hygiene! I wonder what other food hygiene issues lurk behind the scenes if this sort of thing is dismissed with a shrug. Its a shame as I feel bad as the staff work so hard, they have real can do attitudes.
We just held my Mother's Surprise 70th Birthday party in the Yarm suite. The staff were attentive and no request was too small, service was always delivered with a smile. The buffet was lovely and a number of guests had commented on how much they enjoyed the food. My only comment would be that the hand cut chips ran out quickly as they were so popular with both kids and adults! The whole event was delivered successfully despite our originally booked room (The 3 Rivers) not being suitable on the day. With just two hours until guests arrived the staff ensured we were transferred to the Yarm suite with no fuss. Everyone had a wonderful afternoon and as we had direct access to the terrace guests were able to enjoy the bank holiday summer sun. My mother had a wonderful Party and commented that the staff that she'd encountered were very welcoming. Many Thanks to all the staff who helped to make our party special. If you are looking for a party venue with great customer service then I'd certainly recommend The Parkmore.
Me and my mam came here for Afternoon Tea and the use of the spa facilities. I found a deal on Wowcher for £30 for the two of us which I thought was good. Our food was delicious! However, we were meant to get prosecco and I completely forgot about it until we were leaving and I seen someone else with it. We weren't offered it either, just tea and coffee. The pool area was lovely, although not relaxing as there was loud children jumping in and out constantly. The jacuzzi was probably the best part. There is also a steam room and sauna. I'm glad I tried it here but I'm not sure if I'd come back
With only 15 minutes notice (due to error with booking with another venue). My mother in law and her group were served a delicious meal, brilliant and friendly service. They all thoroughly enjoyed teir visit. Thank you
We haven't been to the Parkmore for some time and were very pleasantly surprised by the changes. The décor is fresh and bright and makes a huge difference to the main rooms. Staff as usual are fabulous - always polite, friendly and welcoming and the new menu/food is very good. Just one small gripe, the radio station playing in the dining room at breakfast is very annoying!
Spent the nite, made full use of the spa facilities. Lovely nite away. Food in restaurant was fine, but would probably venture into Yarm for lovely bars and restaurants with a bit more atmosphere. Overall a lovely nite away. Only a couple of little niggles, spa has a few tiles missing and could do with a touch up, but this didnt spoil our trip. Also tribute band on near our room, very loud, struggled to sleep but it was Saturday and it finshed at 12pm so cant complain. Really good value for moneyfor room (restaurant usual high prices for hotel). Would definately stay again.
After reading some of the reviews on TA, I very nearly cancelled, but I am so glad I did not. We arrived on the Friday evening to be greeted by a young trainee on reception who was extremely polite and helpful, as was his 'minder'. Our room was large and very clean, with a lovely comfy bed. We had a fantastic breakfast on the two mornings we had it, all cooked to order and very tasty. The service was second to none and always very polite. I run my own gym where I live, so always check out the leisure facilities, they were very good with a nice pool and a well-equipped weights room, with plenty of cardio machines. We did not meet one member of staff who was surly or ill-mannered. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this hotel to fellow travellers, to be honest I did not recognise this hotel when compared to some of the negative comments made about it, but then I do not look for problems, I tell it how I find it.
Spent 4 nights here for dinner, bed and breakfast. All the staff from the moment I checked in were extremely friendly and polite. My room was very comfortable and clean. The restaurant was great for breakfast and dinner. The gym was an added bonus with swimming pool and hydrotherapy spa which was awesome. More classic than modern but it does what it says on the tin.
Suitable for the night, convicted this is an old house transformed into a hotel, staff were superb and having the pool and gym was great for being on the road, food was really good too, spend some money to modernise and it's ideal. Staff we're great
Eaglescliffe is an affluent area and I can only assume that local residents do not frequent the Parkmore. The hotel is adequate and the pool was pleasant but nothing overly exciting. Our room was cleaned to an acceptable standard, although the windows would have benefitted from a little more attention to detail. However, the room was rather small for a double room and had little extra space. The bathroom was very small and only just managed to fit a bath, sink and toilet. The restaurant was perhaps where the biggest disappointment lay. The menu was exactly the same as the bar menu and did no favours to the hotel. Whilst the food was cooked well the choices were very limited and really more suited to a local take away and not off restaurant standard. Chicken parmo really does not have a place on a restaurant menu. The staff were all helpful and friendly but the hotel is in need of some serious attention and up dating.
Came here for my sons wedding, first impression was ok. Bar area quite small ,good job it wasn't raining as we were a large party we ventured outside. Bar service was very very very slow, you would think with a wedding party in and the other guests the hotel had they would put more than one person behind the bar. I'm not much of a drinker but have the odd couple when I'm out,I thought the beer prices were on the high side compared to what I paid in the centre of york hotels. One thing concerned me was at the evening reception, pots were lit and put under the food containers to keep the food warm, but there was no supervision or guard to keep young hands away( the small children were fascinated by it) and as we were sat close by had to constantly tell the children to keep away.
Read some reviews on here that weren't great however my experience has been amazing . Lovely young lady at check in , same in bar . My room looks newly decorated and the place was spotless . Lovely old building lots of character . Very good value bar meals and a comfortable place to sit and eat . Will definitely be back . Keep up the good work . Nearby Yarm is a lovely place for a wander too .
Visited here around 12 years ago and was impressed. Sadly, the place is now in need of some tlc. Sofas in the reception area are really tired and the carpet needs updating. The rooms are also pretty tired and the leisure area also very dated. Do not pay for breakfast here. The service was really poor. We arrived at breakfast half an hour before it closed and yet there were no muffins, pastries, orange juice or even glasses! We had to prompt the waiter for milk and he just picked us some up from another table and brought it to us. For all we know it could've been sat there hours and could've had anything in it! The staff paid no attention to the buffet table at all and it was left with little or no selection on it. Our waiter Eric also dropped a dirty knife and rather than picking it up, just kicked it all the way to the kitchen leaving food across the floor. When asked to pay £22 for two breakfasts we refused. What a shame. A lovely old building but we won't be visiting again.
The food looked great, breakfast was excellent but the room was not. We got the Orchid suite, which was roomy and overlooked a lovely garden however, the mattress has had it and the decor is tired with water stains around one light fitting . Went for a drink in the bar before retiring and it had run out of crisps and nuts ? Not impressed at all with this hotel ,but the staff are good.
Attended an awards ceremony here which was our first visit to the Parkmore Hotel. It's a beautiful venue with comfortable reception rooms. The food was excellent and presented to a high standard. The service was exceptional. Friendly and helpful staff made this venue a real pleasure to spend time in.
Came here on business. The young staff are fantastic, really polite and with a 'can do' attitude. Food was fine, nice bar and the room was spacious. Would highly recommend to anyone coming to the area.
We arrived and we given room 128. We were told that the room was up the stairs on the left. We questioned the receptionist about this as the sign pointing up the stairs only went up to 127. She assured us it was definatly up the stairs. We carried our 2 suitcases and bags up the stairs and all the way round the corridors only to find that there was no room 128. We then went back down and ask the receptionist again where it was. She told us they had moved the room downstairs. The room was very small for the price and there was only one towel between 2 of us. We had to ask for another. Breakfast in the morning was superb. The male and female members of staff were very attentive. Overall I was disappointed. Doubtful I will return.
I have visited this hotel before last year really enjoyed my stay with friendly welcome , staff were amazing and so helpful - family run Hotel - lots of character to the Hotel - bliss and relaxing - great Spa too - my recent stay in June was of high standard again , an overnight stay with friendly staff , very helpful, room was lovely , enjoyed drinks in the bar at night , staff and management made our stay lovely and enjoyable - looking forward to my next stay - Thankyou to all the team and management
Booked overnight stay, used the leisure facilities and restaurant. Food was excellent, and reasonably priced. Our room was quite large, clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend and go back to this hotel.
The hotel is quietly situated amongst private houses with a large car park . The hotel does not have a lift something I hadn't realised before checking in but we had a room on the ground floor. The reception area, lounge and dining room are well decorated and furnished but that's where it stops the rest of the hotel,is scruffy run down and generally not very nice . Our room was tiny and I mean tiny , a land locked bathroom and a window that overlooked the beer garden which let in noise and smoke. The room was however very clean and the bed very very comfortable, there were tea and coffee making facilities , well stocked but no bottled water , it was very warm when we were staying but the plug in fan did the job. The swimming pool area is very scruffy , the pool is small and the jacuzzi was out of order . The pool itself was clean and at a temperature that suited us , the hydrotherapy pool although shabby and rusty was great and the best thing of the whole visit. We went to the bar for a drink before going out and when the bar staff were asked for a Bloody Mary we were met with blank stairs and had to advise on how to make it !!! The enclosed garden area was pleasant and suited us enjoying the last of the evening sun watching the birds nesting before going out. We did not eat at the hotel in the evening but did have breakfast. The breakfast was buffet style and was constantly replenished, the breakfast was the second most enjoyable experience was well cooked and also a wide variety of cereal, fruit etc etc The hotel really needs to tidy itself up we were quite surprised that it is a Best Western as it really didn't match the standards we have become used to , ending on a positive note ALL the staff were very welcoming ,friendly and professional and a real credit to the owner.
The room (single) was okay but too small to stay any longer than a couple of nights. The choice was between a loud night (A road) or a completely overheated room. There was no light switch at the bed (or bedside lamp) but only a switch at the door. Breakfast was okay. The dinner service (choice of only three main courses for 16 people) was one of the slowest I have ever experienced. The food was good in terms of quality but portion sizes were small. - Several of our party went to local supermarkets, take-aways and McDonalds after dinner to actually get some food. Again, not that we were not satisfied with the quality of food at the hotel. We just couldn't bear another 1h wait.
My wife and I met some very good friends for dinner and stayed overnight here. We were very late arriving and still we were welcomed with open arms and accommodated fully, including dinner for which our late arrival had placed us at the very latest possible time. Still we were extended every courtesy and our meal was superb - fresh flavours, wonderfully wholesome, and with great presentation. Breakfast the following morning was a delight, with Eric ensuring we had everything we needed without the slightest issue. My smoked salmon and scrambled eggs was fantastic. Excellent VFM across the board. Bravo Mr Leeds and his team for providing such real hospitality, something that's all too often forgotten by so much of your 'competition'.
We stayed here on Wednesday 31st May. After looking on line we decided to book the Parkmore as the pictures looked great, but how wrong we could be. On arrival the check in was pretty quick however you noticed the lack of atmosphere and interaction from staff. I think you could stay here all weekend and no member of staff would say hello. We visited the restaurant for dinner at 6pm but we left quickly after we finished, it was also lacking atmosphere and back ground music as you could here every conversation in the room. The room was very dated and could smell smoke in the non smoking room. We also went to the bar for a few drinks and that was enough. It was like pulling teeth trying to get a conversation We paid £118 for the room and before we checked out we went for breakfast to be told breakfast wasn't included. Well I'm sorry at that price that's totally out of order. The receptionist told us we only paid £118 so that wasn't breakfast. I can stay in a Hilton with leisure facilities for less than that price Really disappointed
Staff were very helpful & friendly. Room service was brilliant. Food choice was excellent & the food was lovely. Would definitely recommend staying here. I paased through yarm and it looks like a lovely town.
Lovely relaxing afternoon in the spa followed by a gorgeous afternoon tea Plenty of tea & coffee & a lovely selection of sandwiches & cakes including scones, strawberry shortcakes and vanilla slices. Excellent value for money
There is a masive diference between the pictures from advertaising and the room we actualy get . I feeld like in a old house and there was not any tea/coffee maked and the wake up service/alarm clock was older than me :)).i expected for much better thAn that for £90 wich was actualy reduced from £130. Very disapointed . We never come back .
Booked a spa day for my friend's birthday and what a disappointment! On arrival the spa was tired and unwelcoming. Every spa I've ever been to you are supplied with dressing gowns, slippers and towels but not this one. We were directed to the changing rooms but they were no towels so I asked a lady for some at reception. I was told they don't supply them, I advised we needed some and was told I could "hire" some. I said I'd paid for a spa day and expected a towels as I was given no confirmation or info on what to bring or id have brought some. The lad then said he'd get us some. There is a pool, hydro pool, Sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The jacuzzi had an out of order sign on it and the sauna had an unpleasant smell. The whole spa area was scruffy and not very clean (see photos) We went to get a drink of water as you are told to hydrate when using heat rooms but they was a sign on the water machine saying they did not supply cups. Fortunately the afternoon tea was nice and the staff serving this were alot more pleasant than the spa staff. Overall the place isn't very appealing and I certainly would recommend it.
A group of us stayed in this hotel whilst on business in nearby Middlesbrough. The hotel has ample free parking and the rooms are clean, reasonably well equipped and comfortable. Whilst the hotel has a reasonable bar it is a taxi journey to the hub of Yarm where one will find lots of good bars and restaurants. I would have given this hotel 3 to 4 stars except that I had an issue where I had to call the hotel the following evening from York where I was staying relating to items I had left in the hotel. I was assured a call back to confirm the items were still there the same evening in which case I could have returned to collect. I did not receive a call and so I called early the following moring and I was again promised that I would get a call back immediately to confirm my items had been handed in. No call was received. After a further call I gave up and travelled one and a half hours back to the hotel to speak to the absent minded, unprofessional receptionist who had stil not bothered to make the enquiry. No apology and no further visits for our agency to this hotel.
Stayed for one night with my partner. Room was well appointed, comfortable and very clean. Staff were friendly, courteous and professional. Although there was a birthday party downstairs we weren't unduly disturbed. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area.
Would not recommend this hotel - restaurant service was very poor and spa facilities were broken. Mentioned this to the staff on the reception desk and got no interest or response at all. Choice of food for evening dinner more like a bar menu, very limited. When it eventually arrived 1 hour after ordering it was nicely cooked.
This was a late booking, paid £85 for the night for room only. I ate in the restaurant and ordered a chicken salad, there was a lot of chicken but absolutely drowned in oil which was a shame, I did point this out to the waitress. Hotel is quite big and my room was a distance from reception. There's a bar, but only had a few tables and they all had 1 person sitting at them. Large car park that is free and good location to Stockton and Yarm. Overall room was spacious and clean, but dated. I thought over priced for a basic room.
This was an OK hotel. The bed was comfortable and the room was fine. It was clean but a bit dated. The shower over the bath did not have much force and I needed to let it run for a long while before hot water came through. Breakfast was fine but one day I chose the omelette - unfortunately it was rather overcooked. However, my biggest disappointment was with the reception desk. There was no real welcome, no smile, no warmth. I was given my room key but had to ask where the room was. At reception in most hotels that I have stayed in there is a welcome; you are told where to find your room; and you are given information about breakfast - sadly not on this occasion. At nearly £100 per night including breakfast I did not feel that this was good value for money.
I went with my daughter and my sister today, for a relaxing spa day and afternoon tea. I've never been there before and i can safely say I will be going again. We had such a relaxing day and I loved the hydrotherapy pool. The afternoon tea was lovely. There was a selection of different sandwiches, cakes and scones. So there was something for everyone to enjoy. It is well worth the money and the staff were lovely. They all made sure everything was okay and they were easy to talk to. Everything was clean and tidy and it is a nice quiet place to go to relax. Definitely recommend to everyone.
Arrived at reception staff pleasant and organised. The room was clean the bed comfortable but found it a little on the small size for a double. Did not think the food at wedding reception was very tasty. The bar service was very good.
Simply put this was not a cheap stay. £120 for a twin room but beds were pushed together so might as well have been a double Room was like a sauna Water from shower was very poor pressure Breakfast was like a scene from Fawlty Towers with our order going to another table. If I have to stay in this area again it wont be here...
This was our second visit to this lovely hotel. The staff were great, friendly and professional. The rooms are clean and comfy. The building is charming with some beautiful original features and a pretty garden. But what takes this to another level is the food which is just wonderful. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and presentation of the meals. The vegetables were especially good, all cooked to perfection and piping hot. Super service, despite the restaurant being busy. We would recommend a stay and hope to return for longer next time.
We had a very pleasant 3 days stay. The hotel was not very busy so it was like home from home. The room was warm and cosy and even though there was a train line near by, it did not disturb us. We ate in the dinning room and the food was delicious. We also had a bar meal which was excellent. Breakfast was cooked to order or you could have a continental if you wished. The gardens are beautiful and there is a patio area where you can sit and relax with a drink. We did not use the Spa. We were too busy visiting the local area. The hotel is family run, and the staff can't do enough for you. There is no lift to the first floor but the hotel is wheelchair friendly.
I threw my partner a surprise 40th party at the Parkmore, the room was excellent, perfect for what we needed. Staff were polite and very helpful, food was fantastic and the whole night was brilliant. Perfect venue, ideal location, highly recommended.
Booked online with ease, before arrival i emailed the staff asking some general questions. They responded to my email within 10 minutes ! Excellent start to the service. Upon arrival as we checked in I informed the staff member on reception that i was staying to celebrate my anniversary. The reception staff member was so kind and considerate and they offered us a free upgrade to a junior suite as a kind gesture. Again the excellent service continued. Our junior suite room 124, was clean and tidy and had tasteful decor. The bed was very comfy and had a lovely skylight in the celing above the bed. We also used the Spa during our stay that again was excellent. We received excellent service at the spa reception and they could not do enough for us at all....even bringing cold drinks to us while we relaxed by the pool and simply charged them to the room to be paid on departing. perfect. We slept really well in the room and we were warm and cosy. To hear people complain that the rooms are creeky and squeeky is crazy, Don't expect a hotel of this age and this style not to make noise. If you want that book yourself in a generic premier inn room for the same price, without a spa and the same level of service. I personally loved the features of the old building and felt it all added to the character and experience of the stay. The next morning we took our breakfast that was cooked to order. The food was fresh and hot and delicious. We both took a nice English breakfast and the food and service again was faultless. Overall the service was second to none and the hotel was clean and inviting and the food was fresh and delicious. I will be back here for sure. I hope this helps people who may be put off by some of the negative reviews here. This hotel is lovely. I cant recommend it enough.
I had high hopes that I would write a good review for the Parkmore Hotel. Sadly three stars is the most I can give as a bad nights sleep changed my mind. My room on the first floor was comfortable enough, nice soft bed and well furnished. The room was built into the roof line and a little odd in layout as a result and being split level. Bathroom OK but could do with an update and removing the hazardous shelf above the basin! The food is very nice here (dinner and breakfast). Staff are friendly too. There is also a very good gym with plenty of equipment. The swimming pool is a little small, busy with four adults, and the sauna and steam room are additional attractions that make booking the Parkmore seem like a good idea. Unfortunately my sleep was constantly interrupted with creaking floorboards and hearing all the coming and going of the guests in adjacent rooms. My next door neighbour came in late and and proceeded to have a lengthy conversation on speaker phone of which I heard every word. Because of this I would not particularly recommend this hotel unless you could get some guarantee that you would be in a quiet room.
1 night stay on a vendor visit. Hotel looks lovely from the outside and loads of parking. In a nice area, went for a run along the Tees and the village of Yarm was also nice and fairly busy for a Wednesday evening. The Hotel itself is dated and needs a refurb. I appreciate it's partly a Victorian building, but I live in a Victorian house and my house doesn't look dated yet still retains original features. Just needs brightening up. Having stayed in another best western near Consett last week and seeing the refurb there, it makes a massive difference. Hotel was clean though and I had not other complaints. Leisure facilities were good. I didn't eat at the hotel as the dated and slightly dingy look put me off a bit but found there are loads of excellent restaurants in Yarm.
Stayed on a Wowcher deal which included evening meal. Room 133 was average looking onto car park, have been in better Premier Inn rooms. When we had evening meal wife's chicken for main course was swimming in a bowl of grease, pointed out to waiter who said that doesn't look good I will go and speak to the chef, then nothing, no response, no apology or explanation just silence. Food seemed frozen rather than fresh. Experience put us off going for breakfast. Paved area out the back was full of dirty tables which were eventually cleared, not very inviting. Pool was small and at the entrance there was a table full of food, dirty plates etc and no one on reception into it, again bot very inviting. Photos on web make the hotel look much better than it is in reality. Girl on reception was very pleasant.
Booked for Afternoon Tea with two friends. Specially asked that we be served in the restaurant as we prefer to eat at a table rather than a coffee table. Arrived at reception a very pleasant young lady said we could eat in one of the two lounges. I said we had booked for the restaurant she said that was OK. A very and I mean very ,unpleasant person said the restaurant was closed, it closed at 2pm.I cannot identify this person as he did not introduce himself. Suffice to say we are in the restaurant. Food was served by a pleasant young gentleman. For some reason we were served with tea for three sandwiches for three but cakes and scones two. My friend did point this out and they did bring the other scone and cakes The explaination was that there was a mix up between reception and the kitchen. Reception had ordered tea for two. I still haven't worked that one out. Sandwiches were OK,cakes and scones good. We had to go to reception to pay the bill as no-one came back to ask if we were OK. The unpleasant person walked through the restaurant but only glowered, didn't acknowledge we were there. Will not return.
Fantastic Food & Evening spent with friends. The staff are very friendly & helpful. The room we were in was the perfect for the act, number of guests & had decent sized dance floor. We didn't stay over as we all live close by however, the facilities & rooms look amazing. If you're from out of town and looking for somewhere to stay close to Yarm, I would definitely recommend.
Fabulous evening of entertainment, great atmosphere very festive Food quality and service excellent. Good range of drinks available Nothing was too much trouble. Will be going back for another night there
Cheap and cheerful hotel if your looking for an over night stay in Yarm. The room we had was clean enough and the breakfast was spot on. It has a nice little beer garden at the back if the sun is shining and there's plenty of car parking space at the side of the hotel. It's about a 15 min walk into Yarm town centre. So to sum up, yes I would probably stay here again if I was visiting Yarm.
Our organisation enjoyed a wonderful, early Christmas meal on Friday. The staff did us proud and served beautifully. Nothing was too much trouble and they were lovely and friendly. The dinner was delicious, too, and we will be returning.
If I could leave 0* I would. We booked a room and meal package for my birthday. On arrival realised there was a wedding function but initially enjoyed use of spa and then the ok meal. However we raised concerns as our room was next door to the function and our window looked onto the smoking area. Stupid position for a room. As the evening went on the noise became more and more unbearable. By 1 am I rang reception as there was arguing and shouting from all angles. At one point I looked out of our room door to find a crowd arguing outside of it. I fully understand this is not the hotels fault but equally they did nothing at all about it. Finally at half 2 am we gave in and packed up and checked out and drove an hour home. As we left there was glasses being smashed and the poor night porter in his words " could do nothing they were just laughing at him". Obviously we then tried to get a refund for the horrendous night.....none given. After several phonecalls (with receptionist as manager won't even talk to us) we were offered cost of breakfast back as thats "all we missed". The night porter and reception are lovely but severely let down by management who should've been on call and available when the evening got drastically out of hand and then in the case of the complaints ( which we know they received several) are totally indifferent and unwilling to even acknowledge complaint with the common decency of engaging in a phonecall conversation.
The hotel is clean and tidy and in a very good location close to Yarm. My room did not have a view but was quiet. It is a bit tired and would benefit from refurbishment in places; updated decor in the rooms, lighting in the corridors, a few repairs around the pool and in the changing rooms. The staff are absolutely excellent - very helpful and polite. I stayed on my own and so ordered room service; there was a good range of choices on the menu and the food was really good.
room i stayed in was simple, but did the job bar food and restaurant used bar food was hit and miss and not the same any night i was there but pizza was good cant go wrong with pizza ...... guys i was with used gym and pool said it was good and well equipped
Great location near Yarm with very good transport links. The hotel was very clean and well presented. It also has a good gym and pool. The breakfast was superb. Checking in and out was hassle free and the reception couldn't do more for you
I attended my brothers wedding at The Parkmore last week and the place looked quality. The decoration of both the rooms was really nice and the ceremony went really smoothly. The drink prices were reasonable for a hotel and the food was really nice, especially the soup starter. What impressed me was how quickly everything was cleared away after the meals so we could get ready for the evenings entertainment so well done the staff at The Parkmore, especially James and his brother Alex who never stopped all day waiting tables and serving drinks.
We held our civil ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception at The Parkmore last week. From start to finish everything was perfect, nothing was too much trouble for James and his staff. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue.
We've stayed in the hotel a number of times and every time we come we are made to feel so welcome from our brilliant check in to the check out. The facilities are of a very good and very clean high standard. The food from breakfast through to a lovely evening meal and everything is priced right. The beers lovely and again I can't fault the staff. If you want a nice weekend away then go to the parkmore. While we were there they had a wedding on and by the looks off it the whole wedding went really well and we even got invited in for a drink on the evening reception. Defiantly a 5 out 5 stay for us and will be back again very soon.
I got married here last week and I couldn't have chosen a better venue. The wedding co-ordinator James was fantastic and helped us with the planning from the very beginning suggesting local services such as florists, hairdressers and cake shops. We had the room dressed by Special events north east and everything looked perfect, I was unsure about what decoration I wanted for the room and James helped us pick out centre pieces and additional decoration based upon what he thought looked best. Having James help us so much made the whole process that little bit less stressful. Attending their wedding showcase event really helped me imagine what my day would look like as you really cant imagine the rooms being dressed without seeing them first. They transform the whole hotel on the wedding day, walking into the rooms is truly a magical experience. The wedding breakfast was lovely big portions and tasty food made all of our family members happy. Both the Thursday and the Friday the hotel staff couldn't do enough for us which made the whole experience more enjoyable. The hotel rooms which we stayed in the 2 nights had everything we needed and were big enough for myself and my bridesmaids to sit and chill out. The spa was lovely and quite during the evening and we all had time to relax before the big day ahead.
The Parkmore was lovely to stay at. We were staying over for my friends wedding and it looked amazing. Both the ceremony room and the breakfast room was dressed so nicely. Another thing I was surprised to find was the drinks were reasonably priced with it being a hotel, which you usually find to be massively over priced, and I did hear a few of my family members saying that also which is unusual because everywhere is usually expensive for them! The room was great and we had everything we needed in there to get ready for the big wedding.
Had a dog friendly room which was on the snug side but mum had a family room and much better. Breakfast was good with a good selection. Swimming pool and gym clean and big for hotel that size. But what most impressed were the customer service, everyone in the hotel from reception to pool to restaurant were helpful and very friendly. A left item was returned within 24 hours much to the relief of the 5 year old who lost it! How a hotel should be run would definitely stay again. room blah staff awesome!
Stayed for 1 night here and upon arriving reception helpful and friendly arriving at our room after going thru crystal maze type corridors it's that big we had been giving a clean abit dated room but was spotless clean, tea/coffee biscuits shampoo etc. Leisure facilities good especially the hydro pool all clean again Food we only had a sandwich but was nice and came with salad and crisps Yarm about 20-30 walk down hill uphill back up Will definitely return
Me and my partner got married here on the 21st of October and we couldn't have asked for any more. We were helped massively by James who was in charge of our wedding and he made sure everything ran smoothly. Both the ceremony and reception rooms were gorgeous and we heard nothing but compliments from all of our guests. Our wedding breakfast again was outstanding and we loved each course as did everybody else. As soon as one dish was finished James was there to clean up and make sure everything was ready for the next course to come out. He really did look after us and organised the speeches and cake cutting to be on time. James really did work hard and was complimented by my new in-laws on more than one occasion, we can't thank him enough for the perfect day that him and the team at The Parkmore gave us, and we will be forever grateful. The rooms we stayed in were also beautiful, everything we needed was there for us to use and it was spotless, the bed was comfy and the place was nice and quiet. The spa facilities were also on point and us and my newly extended family made full use the day after. Well done James!
Friendly staff but shabby hotel, poorly laid out with dated decor. Too noisy - squeaky doors that slam through the night. We had a room that was apparently next to the gym as we were woken by treadmill sounds next to our heads at 8am on a Sunday. The room was overpriced and we were surprised to find the rate didn't include breakfast. We stayed here because it is convenient for visiting family. But we won't be coming back!
Staff very helpful. I complained that the mattress was outdated, spring type, so they bought a brand new one. I was going to change hotels but when they told me to try the new mattress I was impressed. The new one was above average, so well done. Lamb shank is good, fajita also good. Great little gym, with pool. overall , I would recommend it. Just check your bed as you may not put in my old room. So all other rooms may have the old style spring mattresses.
I have stayed in this hotel a few times, the last of which was last week (10-10-16). It is nicely located, just outside of Yarm which is a lovely little market town that is well worth a walk around. The main feature of the hotel is the spa which is very good and very well equipped. I was staying in a junior suite which was quite comfortable but the lounge area could maybe do with a television as it really seems a little pointless, it means you cant sit in the seating area and watch it. There is a lack of sockets, particularly at the bedsides. Aside from this the rooms are fine. The restaurant is very good with a nice variety on the menu at a reasonable price. The highlight of my visit is always the staff and at the Parkmore the are very good indeed, in particular Courtney and Jenny on reception, Alicia and Jennifer from the restaurant and the staff from the gym. All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Had a fab half spa day, could do with abit of tlc and lockers that work, but i was surprised at how much you could use at the pool and afternoon tea was nice. All staff were friendly too and i would go back. I would say good not very good but no option for that.
Spent a night here on a business trip. Double room. Room was ok but fairly dated. The decor is a bit old. The staff were friendly and really helpful with any queries or problems. Breakfast was typical continental affair on offer with a full cooked breakfast on order. The restaurant where breakfast is served is very nice and recently modernised. This is also open in the evening for dinner, but having not sampled the evening menu I can not comment. On check out it appears they are in process of trying to update the front of house areas. Hopefully the bedrooms will be updated soon. The only downside (if you are a light sleeper) is there is a main railway line at the back of the premises with frequent trains and with it being fairly close, it is noisy as the rooms double glazing needs to be upgraded or modernised. Otherwise, for me, an average hotel compared to other Best Western hotels I've frequented.
We booked the Parkmore as our wedding venue back in January this year and from to start to finish the staff were superb. James the operations manager dealt with our booking and held all the meetings we had talking us through every aspect of what to expect for our special day. We decided to use 'Special Events' on the recommendation of James as they are the hotel's official supplier of wedding decorations etc and we are so glad that we did. Everything was perfect! (Marilyn and Rob are just lovely) We had family and friends travelling from different parts of the country so James made sure we had enough rooms reserved until they were needed. We used the hotel from Friday 23rd - Sunday 25th September and everyone enjoyed their stay. The food from sandwiches on the Friday, a meal on the Friday night, Breakfasts both days and the Wedding Breakfast was just beautiful! Everything ran like clockwork, we were so impressed! I had worried from start to finish and James kept reassuring me all would be ok, it was, but better! We had a very small, intimate wedding of just 27 people and if this is what you are looking for I can't stress to you enough that the Parkmore is the ideal place for your wedding. I had rang round lots of places and nobody could accomodate us as well as this lovely hotel did. The staff from reception right through to the night porter, waiting staff, every single one of them was brilliant and very friendly. We will never forget our perfect wedding day so thank you so much to your fabulous team we had the best day! Kindest Regards Alesha & Jeff
Was very wary having read reviews. Yes it isn't up to date with clinical new décor or features- but that's what we liked about it, it had warmth and character. Staff were wonderful .. spa area we enjoyed as an added bonus. Only let down was the restaurant was a bit pricy for the portion you receive -- other than that we will DEFINATELY stay again :)
On arrival , staff were very pleasant, had a suite which was extremely spacious , comfy and clean. I made full use of the leisure facilities for the weekend , loved it , nice and relaxing . Food in the restaurant was lovely, amazing staff , very friendly. All the staff in the hotel made me feel welcome at all times off the day A weekend of relaxation , lovely area too
I stayed here visiting a friend. I booked a double room, I checked in and went to the room walked in and walked out again. Not what I was expecting for a best Western hotel I have stayed in quite a few and this is not up to there usual standard. I went to reception and asked if there was any better rooms with a bigger bed (just nicer really) I was told that a there was a suite. I went to see the suite and it was alot better but no where near worth the £120 price tag. I have seen better sofas in skips! I accepted my lot and took the room as I was tired and wanted to relax. Thought I would make use of the spa which is why I had booked the hotel. It was OK also in need of some attention though. Overall this hotel is very dated and needs some money spending on it forget the "best" in the title as it certainly isn't that. In hind sight I should have moved to a different hotel. The staff on the other hand where helpful and friendly certainly the hotels best attribute. Didn't eat here so can't comment on the food. Come on best Western get your cheque book out and spend some money bring this hotel up to the standard of your other hotels. Won't stay again unless they spend some cash on it. Staff 9 out of 10 Hotel 3 out of 10 that's being generous
Very nice hotel with friendly staff. Room was a little compact for a double room but all the same, clean, tidy and more than acceptable. Staff on reception, housekeeping and restaurant were all very friendly and welcoming. We had dinner as well as breakfast and the food was very good indeed with good portions at dinner. The hotel was quiet and central for Yarm, and right next to the lovely Eaglescliffe golf course, perfect!! Will certainly return when next in the area.
Stayed here for 1 night for a business trip. Was a very pleasant stay. Had a single room which was spacious enough for me, room was clean and quiet. It was hot so I did have the window open and because I was at the front of the hotel I did have some road noise, wasn't a problem though The room service food in the evening was lovely, the chips were very tasty, as was the apple crumble Breakfast was good with a decent choice of food All the staff I met were courteous and pleasant
We have recently held our Wedding Reception at the Parkmore Hotel and we have to say the service we received from initial booking through to the day has been exceptional. The Wedding Co-ordinator - Arlene was extremely helpful and was on hand to answer any question and very reassuring with any queries we raised. The Operations Manager - James and his team were excellent on the day. the service offered was fantastic and they were all very polite, friendly and helpful, the food served was very well presented and everyone of our guests commented on how lovely it was. The room for our reception was dressed by special Events who work very closely with The Parkmore. The room was very well decorated and looked amazing.The House DJ was wonderful he kept the party going all night with his choice of music which suited all our guests. The Bridal Suite was very clean and very well presented and our guests were very pleased with their rooms. We would definitely recommend The Parkmore Hotel and their services to anyone who is looking for a venue. We would like to thank them all for all the kindness, help and support planning our big day. THANK YOU :}
I`ve stayed at the Parkmore on a number of occasions and it`s an ok hotel if you`re away for work. The negatives are it is quite tired and can be noisy at night, due to the A/C plant outside on the roof - the rooms can also be very hot. On the plus side it is close to Yarm which is lovely and you have the use of the gym/pool, which is probably the reason why a lot of people use it even though it`s not that cheap compared to the likes of Premier Inn etc. Restaurant is quite average but Yarm is full of great eateries and only a 20 min stroll
The staff are all very friendly. The food was good on the whole. The availability of the menu was not 100% but it is varied enough that there was plenty to choose from. The leisure facilities were excellent and included in the rate for the night. Service is not the fastest in the restaurant but the atmosphere is relaxed and you don't feel rushed when the food does come. The rooms are some what dated, well the 2 I have stayed in at least. But they do offer good WiFi with satisfactory coverage. There is ample parking and the surrounding area seems nice enough to not worry about any trouble. Yarn is definitely worth a night out. It is only a brisk 15 minute walk from the hotel.
Our wedding day on 28th Aug was the absolute best day we could have ever hoped for. The staff were extremely helpful and concientious and i can not praise them enough for making our day so memorable and enjoyable for us and all our guests. From the warm welcome to the lovely clean rooms, attentive waiting and bar staff and the kitchen staff producing tasty and moreish food, faultless. An extra thank you to Special Events for dressing the rooms and making them look magical. The whole booking and arrangement process was stress free and very good value for money.
Don't know where to start. This visit was the third time for us and up till now I have always recommend it to friends and colleagues. No more !!!! We booked on line for the Dinner bed and breakfast deal and to use the spa facilities I phoned up the day before our stay to book the table for 7pm .. So far so good ... BUT on arrival was then told the dining room was closed that day for a wedding but they could do me a bar meal... Then told me the spa was closed... So I had paid full price for the offer and was told I could have half of it... Once asking for a refund I was told it was on my booking confirmation that the spa was closed ??? So we showed them it and nothing. After talking to five people I finally managed to get my refund and was left with a unhappy wife on here birthday... So JURYS INN to the rescue.. Parkmoor 3 star. JURYS 4 star and a better deal.. I fully recommend JURAYS INN in Middlesbrough centre. Sorry parkmoor you have lost a repeat customer.
I booked the Yarm room for my 70th birthday party, 18 adults and 8 kids and this room was perfect for the occasion. French windows opened out onto a courtyard where the kids could play, the bar was right next door and there was plenty of room for the kids to run around. Our meal was excellent and the service was good, especially considering they had a big wedding on at the same time. Contrast this to Wynyard Hall where we had a family gathering at the same time as a wedding and our service was dire! Overall this hotel needs a facelift as it is very dated but we had an excellent night and I had a great birthday!
Apologies to any non Trekkies who may think I've completely lost the plot with my title. I've been a member of the Parkmore Gym for a few months. I will not be renewing. Here's why.... No induction No fitness test Zero visibility of the workout areas for staff on duty (surely a risk for those many elderly members) Very tired equipment desperately in need up upgrading Pool would be better placed with a small villa in Spain Changing rooms very tired and showers...well let's just say I used them once Zero communication outside of checking in and leaving. Simply not worth the fee On the upside staff are mostly very pleasant and engaging except for a couple of individuals and members who give an impression that you're invading their own personal space by being there. By contrast my new Gym has far more space, professional approach to membership and the fee is comparable. Having read the general reviews of the hotel I think Best Western need to take a look at the site as a whole and invest if they want it to be a viable concern.
Fabulous hotel!!! Staff were so friendly, genuine and helpful. They ensured we had everything we needed and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was a pleasant one. The room was very modern, spacious and clean. Thank you for a fabulous stay. We would definitely book again.
Stayed here last night and a summary as follows; Rooms are dated, in desperate need of modernisation and very noisy with wafer thin walls Woken up twice in the night by what I can only assume was the old fashioned water system whirling away Ordered a ribeye steak with Diane sauce and got a sirloin with peppercorn! To be fair to the young girl serving she was on her own with little support and was trying to do her best Reception never asked or cared about my thoughts on my stay A really disappointing hotel and one that is now off the list for future. I would not recommend.
To start off with some positive aspects of this hotel: it is situated within walking distance of the beautiful town of Yarm, the staff were lovely and it has a terrace to sit outside. Overall this was a quite unpleasant stay due to the hotel being incredibly basic for the rather high price (~£100 a night for standard). A minor grievance was the card machine's constantly malfunctioned meaning that you had to move from area of the hotel to another to pay for things e.g. drinks at the bar paid for in the lobby. The real issue came with the actual room itself. Having paid extra for a suite in order to stay in the same hotel as my colleagues, I was greeted with a lovely looking bedroom. However, upon entering all was not quite as good as it seemed. The bathroom was basic but fully functional. However the real issue was the fact that it was summer and the room was glowing hot. Having no air conditioning is not something that would normally complain about (a hotel in the north east would not have a need for it most of the time), but with the windows being either bolted shut or broken in a shut position there was no way to alleviate the horrendous temperatures. This was compounded by a lovely skylight creating a greenhouse effect and there being no minibar to provide any kind of cool refreshment or cold relief. There was an old fan in the cupboard, but this was so loud and inefficient it just made matters worse. Finally, breakfast was an incredibly meager affair with half the options not available (could even get a banana or apple) and the remaining options not being pleasant. It needs to be stated for the sake of fairness that the staff were overall very helpful and apologetic throughout the stay and that I did not use the spa facilities which I have heard positive feedback about. I would still not recommend this hotel though.
Recently enjoyed a spa day and afternoon tea here and loved it! The pool, jacuzzi, hydrotherapy pool, sauna and steam room were more than enough to keep us occupied for a couple of hours and very relaxing. The afternoon tea was delicious and served with mini bottles of Prosecco. The weather was fantastic so we managed to enjoy this on the gorgeous sun terrace. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The only things that would have made it better were if towels/ robes were provided and if there was a beauty therapist on site to book extra treatments. However this was fantastic value for money and I would highly recommend to anybody looking for a chill out afternoon.
We had a 2 night spa break and chose this hotel as we'd not been to this part of the country before. It's just a 20 minute walk into Yarm which is well worth it - we found a nice cafe and were able to sit outside in the sun. We ate dinner at the hotel and found the waitress to be really friendly, there was a decent choice of meals available and they were reasonably priced. Both mornings at breakfast the staff were helpful and were able to rectify a query we had quickly and to our satisfaction. Breakfast was superb - lots of choice from the buffet and good quality food. Dinner on our second evening was served in the bar and although the menu was more restricted than the previous night there was still plenty to choose from. Once again, the bar staff were very friendly and helpful. The room itself was clean and everything worked fine. The spa could do with a bit of an update but again, everything worked and there is a good range of facilities (gym, pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and hydrotherapy pool). You can also order lunch and drinks to eat by the poolside tables. All in all I have to say that of all the spa breaks we've been on the staff here are by far the best. Nothing was too much trouble for them, they seemed genuine in their friendly approach and clearly cared that we had a good experience in their hotel. We'll definitely go back again and would highly recommend this hotel.
Came here not expecting a 4 star room but when in the room I would class it more as a hostel we payed for an upgrade although if that's what you call an upgrade then I wouldn't like to see the standard room .... The room was dated and apparently it was renovated the bathroom was like a granny's toilet and too make things worse we woke up to a stranger who came into our room at 10am! Never will wee be back here room 124
Business trip for a couple of nights Seemed to have good facilities (which I didn't try) Rooms and corridors could do with a lick of paint Main road at front and a railway at rear, although I hardly heard either Only ate the Breakfast which you had to order, so fresh and hot with a good choice
Stopped at this hotel in order to visit the Tees Transporter, and selected partially due to leisure facility (pool) and parking. Parking is quite spacious and looks like it could cater for everyone using the hotel. The leisure facility has a small pool which unfortunately on the day I chose to visit was overtaken by a parent/toddler group. This left me with a 3 metre square area to swim in (half the pool) which was pretty useless. On the plus side there is a hydrotherapy pool as well as the standard spa. Sauna are split male/female which is great for single ol' me but not be so great for families. Again on the day I went the restaurant was closed (despite being advised as open seven days in the room!). I was left to dine in the bar, albeit with the restaurant menu, but without a proper table and setting. Breakfast was served in the restaurant and is self service cereal / juice and cold cuts but hot food (other than toast - self service) is cooked to order. Reasonable meal, though I was served a grilled tomato I had advised I did not want. For £63 (single Room) i would say it was quite reasonable - a clean room, not to small but not exactly spacious and comfortable bed. If it wasn't for the meal experience I guess I would have really enjoyed it.
I stayed here for business, and I have to say I had my reservations due to another poor experience at best western in Plymouth. The hotel is in serious need of updating. The heat was unbearable both in the rooms and dining area. The sweat was literally running down my forehead eating breakfast, there is no air con and the fans try had in operation were about 50 years old and didn't make even the slightest bit of difference. When I went to get breakfast, no one was there to seat or greet me. I just did my own thing and wasn't able to get hot food. The rooms are a decent size but mine was right next to the kitchens extractor fan so I was woken up at 06:30 every morning and it was VERY LOUD. The weather was scorching and the hotel had no air con in the rooms which made things uncomfortable. I won't be back
I do love Best Western hotels! Room clean and modern. Swimming pool good, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi good, hydrotherapy pool was excellent!!! Sunday carvery outstanding, breakfast great too. Would highly recommend! Just a mile or so walk to the centre of Yarm which is worth a visit too :)
I paid £115 for a one night stay in early July. I was disappointed. While the staff were nice and friendly, the hotel was dated and facilities very limited. I also got the impression from it's professional pictures that it was set close to a park but far from it. Was on a main road. The WiFi was very temperamental. Overall, I was disappointed given the price I paid. Had it been £60, I wouldn't be writing a negative review.
Stayed here on two separate occasions, and both stays have been great. Staff are really helpful and friendly. The rooms are a little dated, but clean. The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the town of Yam, which has some nice restaurants and a few pubs.
Stayed here over the weekend and what a lovely hotel it is, the staff are so friendly and helpful. We dined in the lounge as restaurant was closed but that was no problem, still received same service and watched tele which eating so we were happy. Bed was a bit hard but was only for 1 night so was ok. Will definitely be staying again
Very friendly staff, great pool and spa facilities, room clean and bright, ceiling fan excellent as room was quite warm. Evening meal and the young lady serving excellent. Only downside was a chaotic breakfast. But would stay again if in the area.
Visited for one night as a base for a christening nearby. The staff were all excellent and welcoming. Great receptionist gave us all the info we required making it a smooth check in. The bar man was very welcoming and had time for a chat. Room as mentioned was red hot but there was a fan in the room and once on sorted it out so have obviously listened to feedback. Leisure facilities excellent and again friendly staff. We ate in the restaurant and excellent food and good portions. Again a chatty waitress who was very friendly The only downside was the breakfast which was nothing short of chaos. We arrived and was shown to a table. Went to the buffet and half the items not there. The man there kept saying to everyone it will be here soon but then a tiny amount came out but the dining room was full and lasted seconds. May have just been a one off but did let down the weekend.
My first visit to this hotel. My first impression was a good one. The outside of the building was well kept and grounds well tended. A good size, free car park next to the hotel. The reception staff were warm and welcoming. The enterance hall and lobby had an old English feel. Unfortunately the theme of old was joined by tired the further away we went from the front of the hotel. The room was a double, the bed was comfortable and the linen was clean. The general cleanliness of the room and bathroom was ok. The decor was tired and the general finish was ok but worn. I did not use the health spa included in the room price. We booked breakfast. It was a buffet, the cooked food started to run out when it got busy and took an age to refill. Had to have my breakfast in bits, returning to check if a dish had been refilled. I found the serving staff a bit of a mix between very helpful and grudgingly help full. Overall I had an ok stay. Would I recommend to a friend? Maybe.
I have stayed at this Hotel on a number of occasions on Business. Totally agree with other reviews, food very good, nice breakfasts and very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are in need of some TLC, but they are comfortable and clean. The only downside as has previously been mentioned is the temperature in the rooms I have stayed in. 121, 122, 123, and 124 are directly above the kitchen and are absolutely roasting. Every morning at 06.30 the kitchen extraction unit was turned on and this is a large noisy unit. you have to have the window open because of the room temperature, so don't plan on having a lie in if you are in the rooms I have mentioned. All in all, a good value for money Hotel, but avoid the rooms I have mentioned.
This is a very nice medium priced hotel. The staff are very welcoming & the kitchen provides excellent food. Whether breakfast dinner or evening meal. It does a very good special occasion menu. Visit with confidence
stayed two nights on business friendly efficient staff good selection of well cooked and presented food comfortable room if a little dated good location with lots of parking I would use this hotel again good spa facilities
Although this hotel and the staff were pleasant enough there were a number of things lacking as regards service during the function I attended. Prior to the function starting I ordered coffee for 4 from reception. Twenty minutes later the coffee hadn't arrived so I had to go to reception again. Was assured it was on its way. Ten minutes later I again had to ask at reception! When the coffee eventually arrived it was dumped on a side table with no attempt made by the member of staff to ask who placed the order. This led to confusion as others were also awaiting refreshments they had ordered. The bar was next to reception and not staffed so one had to wait until the receptionist was free to serve drinks. At least a five minute wait on two occasions. Function room was rather sparsely furnished and the buffet, although decent enough was nothing special. All in all I would expect better from a three star Best Western hotel.
Good atomsphere about hotel, gym and pool great addition and for a hotel gym it is well kitted out. Showing tv in the bar and got to watch the northern ireland euros match on tv ( 2-0 ) and i think the bar maids enjoyed our excitement.. and plenty of noise ! Lol Very friendly staff and chatty as well although we are quite hard to understand ! Will be back although hopefully not for work ! Rooms clean and tidy, beds reasonably comfy and shower and bathroom are a good job ! Only bad thing was the breakfast lol
Best Western Stockton- Fabulous staff and food. Staff couldn't be more polite and courteous and it would appear that the standard is maintained to everyone who works there. Breakfast and dinner were really good as was the selection; our only drawback service in the restaurant was very slow. We stayed in room 127, this room was extremely hot, and had to ring reception to have a fan delivered to our room which was on constantly throughout our stay. We also ask for some extra milk to me delivered to our room, but it never arrived. We would return to the hotel but not in room 127.
Lovely swimming pool area. Food really good and the staff excellent. The only drawback was the small room we had allocated to us. Area really handy for Yarm where the shopping is good, also handy for Stockton.
We enjoyed our stay here, we did think the rooms were outdated but we didn't spend a lot of time in there so didn't mind. We made good use of the pool & spa facilities which were great & good value for money. The staff were pleasant and we also enjoyed some time having a few drinks in the bar although it was very busy and a little cramped.
Each year myself and my family visit relatives in the neighbouring village Yarm. We chose the Parkmore 5 years ago because of its proximity and easy access to Yarm. The hotel is perfectly located for us as we get the train from To eaglescliffe station. We always stay in room 111 which located at the front of the hotel. This year when we arrived we noticed that there had been work done on the room and a fully new fitted bathroom which looks really good. On our first night we ordered room service. The food was hot and tasty and the young man that delivered our food was pleasant. We made use of the leisure facilities in the morning to find again there had been big changes in the facilities. The pool was crystal clear and Nikki on reception was as ever a delight remembering who we were from last year. This hotel is a lovely hotel who I'd recommend to anyone looking to get away or are in the area. I would like to make a special mention to Bekki on reception who throughout our stay catered to our every need. A true star and epitomises all the Staff and there lovely nature Looking forward to 2017 already!
Have been to The Parkmore for several functions, but after my visit on Saturday evening I can honestly say I will NOT be going back. The function cost £22 pp and was without doubt one of the worst meals I have ever eaten. For this price we had lasagne and chicken parmos, (child size portions!) chips, garlic bread and salad. The lasagne consisted mainly of a thick layer of congealed white sauce, with what I can only describe as a minuscule amount of meat. All of the food was cold. I can stomach most things but this was inedible. The puddings (when we eventually got them) were just as bad, if not worse. We were told initially that puddings weren't included in the price, which was contrary to what we had been told when it was booked. When they did arrive the potions were tiny and there wasn't enough to go around. For the price it was extremely poor value.
Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights for business. Plenty of parking. Easy check in. Great directions to room and information about the hotel. Ate in the bar 2 nights and room service 1 night. Food very tasty and reasonable. Lovely courtyard garden to relax in after work if the weather is nice - a real little hidden treasure with very little noise. I thought that as my room was at the front it might be noisy but it wasn't even with the window open. Bed comfortable and bathroom clean - everything worked well. Fan in bedroom appreciated although it was very warm during my stay and was difficult to keep cool in the room. Colleague had a room on the other side which seemed cooler but not a major issue. Staying again next week and no worries at all.
Best Western Stockton- Fabulous staff and food. Staff couldn't be more polite and courteous and it would appear that the standard is maintained to everyone who works there. Breakfast and dinner were really good as was the selection. Definitely stay here again when on business
I stayed here for business. I stay away 2-3 nights a week and have done for 10 years. This hotel is dated with Staff who can't smile. Rooms are poor with awful furniture and paper thin walls. I have never returned from breakfast to someone having been in my room and removed the towels!!! I couldn't believe it. Not only should they not go in my room till I've checked out but to take the towels is outrageous. Do not stay here!!
We were married at the Parkmore Hotel and everything from our initial meeting with staff through to check out the day after our wedding was first class. Every request or question we had was very quickly resolved/ actioned, and all of the food requests (gluten free, lactose intolerant or just plain fussy) were catered for in our main meals without any problems, the food itself being of excellent quality. We stayed in one of the suites, which was a large pleasant room featuring a separate drawing room area. The bathroom again was of reasonable size and featured a jacuzzi bath and a shower. Breakfast was a buffet affair, offering a choice of continental or full English breakfast, and again was very nice. The only thing I'd offer caution over would be the room placement: although our room was lovely you could hear noise from downstairs from quite early on, I think it was the radio from reception, but couldn't be sure: this probably isn't an issue for rooms at the back of the hotel, but something to be aware of as it did seem quite loud. All in all though, a great experience for us at the Parkmore, many thanks to Arlene and James for all of their help, I'd certainly recommend the hotel as a wedding venue.
Took my partner to the hotel and spa for the day for her birthday treat, as we had visited the hotel several times before and enjoyed our time on those occasions. From the minute we entered the spa, we were met with surly and unwelcoming staff. The spa was incredibly filthy, run down and poorly maintained. Previously, it had all the facilities that you would expect from a classy spa - lovely toiletries in the showers, spotless changing facilities, swimming costume dryer, etc. - this time it was less like an upmarket spa, more of the worst kind of public swimming baths. Every area was dirty and engrained with grime. Yuk!
We stayed here during a short tour of this area for relaxation. We found the hotel convenient and comfortable and stayed for our evening meal on both nights. The staff were particularly helpful and I enjoyed using the very well equipped gym.
Me and my daughter stayed for 2 nights at the weekend in the junior suite. We arrived and were quickly checked in by a lovely lady on the reception desk. Our room we thought was a little on the small side especially as it was called a suite. The room had a space with sofa and dresser and then down 2 steps to the bedroom area which really the 'small' part. It made the bedroom a little on the warm side even with the window open and we both do like to be warmer rather than colder. The bathroom was also tiny but not a problem! On the Saturday after venturing out to the local Butterfly World which we enjoyed we had lunch in the bar. Courtney was really lovely and tended to our awkward needs! The food was lovely, we thought the portion sizes were a bit small! We thought it wouldn't haven't been enough for a big eater! We didn't get to use the leisure facilities, wish we had done really but my daughter would have had to go on her own due to an open wound on my leg. The highlight of the breakfast was the waiter called Craig, he was lovely, very friendly and put us at our ease. Breakfast was brought to our table and Craig even fetched the orange juice to our table for us! On Saturday night we had booked dinner online for 7pm and we had the restaurant almost to ourselves when we arrived. The food again was delicious although once again portions could have been bigger! We also think the menu needs expanding and because my daughter is a vegan we must also say that there should be at least more vegetarian options. We didn't have a sweet due to there not being anything on the menu for my daughter to have and we did have a starter and mine was adjusted for my taste. There is a big free car park which is always a bonus! We do feel that in general the hotel is a little overpriced as we paid £256 for 2 nights, luckily this was with our Tesco vouchers, the hotel would be out of our reach with out them! But we had a nice time and the staff are lovely!! We would use again if we could afford it or we saved our vouchers again.
We chose this hotel due to the fact it had a leisure centre attached. They also had a good deal on dinner bed and breakfast. Dinner was good on the first night but the set menu was the same the next night. We complained and they told us we could choose from the menu to the value of our set meals. This was to our satisfaction. The room was nice but very hot, the radiator was off but the heat was enough to keep us awake the first night. Second night we used the fan that was in the wardrobe so it was a lot better. The leisure centre was good. we paid two visits on the Saturday. The first with my to children and again later that day just me and the Mrs. Breakfast was good and it was self service so you could eat as much as you wanted. All in all we did enjoy our stay and yes we would go back.
Used the gym and got a bite to eat, the Gym was okay everything was working and user friendly, nice open area for warmup and stretching ,,, Pool Sauna and other areas all clean and tidy , had a sandwiches was nice and full off filling great staff,, My partner had a makeover and she enjoyed didnt look no different when she came out ,, nice place
Wouldn't want to stay here for long but facilities - the gym, pool, hot tub etc. are perfect for a relaxing day or two. The deals available for a one or two night stays are decent value. Clean. Food of good quality and staff helpful. No real ale, not even bottled real ale. Nearby Yarm interesting and picturesque.
Stayed here to go to a xmas party in Yarm. Friendly check in, but the room was dreary. Old fashioned decor and dreadful bathroom. The springs in the mattress were absolutley shot and "twanged" with every move. Only the alcohol helped me sleep. Breakfast was good.
Stayed here with my husband for one night. On arrival the reception was unmanned but eventually a receptionist appeared and did sort out our reservation. Our room was number 127 which is found via stairs and at the end of the corridor on the 1st floor. The room itself was small but clean. The bathroom was equally small but had a bath with shower over, toilet and basin. The shower pressure was very good, however the toilet refused to lose its contents even when holding down the flush and it took several attempts to empty the bowl so not impressed! We had no view apart from some roof tops. There was a party in full swing but the noise was minimal. The bed was comfortable. There was also a proper wardrobe with full hanging space and an arm chair. Breakfast was very poor. There was fresh fruit but left whole so was disappointing not to see prepared fruit salad. Hot food was cooked to order but when it arrived it was not presented that well and the bacon was shrivelled to death. The menu said flat mushrooms, no such luck, the mushrooms were large close cupped ones cut into quarters so I got one in total, again disappointing. The fried egg was also well undercooked with the yolk covered in raw white. The range of fruit juices was also poor with only orange and apple on show. A jug of iced water was also available. The best thing was the size of the teapot.....large! All in all a poor hotel. It does have a pool but unfortunately we did not get a chance to use it. There is also a large car park at the back of the hotel which is free of charge.
Stayed here one night. The hotel room was clean; but overlooked a house which meant I kept the blinds shut whilst it was light. Staff were very friendly and we spent the afternoon in the leisure area which was lovely. My only real problem was when we went to bed the guy next door was snoring and because the walls were so thin it felt like he was next to me!! Then his alarm woke me up at 7.
Came here for a meeting with other colleagues so didn't stay overnight. Conference facilities are ok along with food. Got plenty of tea and coffee and the staff were happy to help with any of our requests. Would come back to use the conference facilities
My husband and I visited for the 'fit and feast' special offer of a 2 course lunch and use of the spa facilities for the day. The spa is a little dated but quite functional and it has a nice hydrotherapy pool. I have given the maximum score as the customer service has been excellent and the food was delicious!!
I've stayed at this hotel several times as the company I work for has offices nearby. The hotel is located in a quiet suburban area, in what used to be a large house (or several interconnected ones). It's got the basics, nothing fancy, just convenient. Among the positives: there's an indoor pool with sauna, next to a small gym. The hotel is just a 3-minute drive to Yarm, a very small town but with a couple very good restaurants, and a few blocks from Eaglescliff train station. On the downside: the rooms are all different shapes and sizes so you never know what you'll get, although most of them are really small. There's also not much around, so I'd only recommend it for short stays if you need to be in this area. A few years ago the hotel used to have a very good restaurant, with delucious dishes changing every few days. For some reason they changed this concept and now the restaurant has a shorter menu with fewer, more ordinary options. Hope they bring the old concept back.
Room was neat and tidy, clean bedding and towels but tired. Reception staff very friendly and efficient, bar staff attentive. Staff at breakfast needed a rocket under them, too busy trying to seem be professional waiters, but failing. Don't know how many times they walked passed my table and did not pick up the used breakfast dishes. Only seemed to be able to carry one thing to a table, then walk back to the kitchen empty-handed.
I attended the Adele tribute evening on the 26th February and after many years of not visiting and I must say it was a brilliant evening! The food was absolutely delicious especially the chocolate whisky dessert and portion sizes were very generous, which is unlike many other hotels which I have visited. Service was very quick and the entertainment was fantastic. I will definitely be returning and can't wait for the next tribute night!
Arrived in plenty of time for a1.30pm booking. No drinks service at the dining table, Bar staff did not know what a sweet sherry was, which was a little disconcerting. Went to the dining room and was disappointed at the selection of meats displayed under the lamps on the hot plate. Turkey, spread about in pieces, roast beef looking over cooked and dry and some slices of gammon. I made an inquiry to the chef as to whether there was any more roast beef available - the response was a shrug and a comment of " That's it ". We decided to leave rather than even try the meal, knowing we were going to be disappointed. On departure I voiced my disappointment to reception staff.
I stayed for a night over the festive period, the hotel was nicely decorated for the season. I was greeted with a smile from the receptionist, Bekki, on duty and even offered assistance with my luggage. Wanting to make my stay that extra little bit special I decided to upgrade to a junior suite which was very spacious with a large bed and a separate sitting area for that extra relaxing touch. With having family in the area we decided to meet at the hotel for dinner for my birthday celebrations and a pre-Christmas get together. We ate in the restaurant and although the hotel was busy due to the Christmas parties nothing was too much to ask of the staff. This was the same for breakfast - although service was busy the staff still maintained a great quality of standards. We were thinking of going out for lunch later in the day we decided due to the great service of last nights dinner and breakfast earlier in the day we would stay - served by the same waiter, Alex, each time who did not disappoint. Thanks to both Alex, Bekki and the rest of the Parkmore staff for the great service during the stay. I will definitely book again soon!
The staff are welcoming and helpful. The room was very nice and large. The bar was well stocked and there was Sky and BT sport, which is not always the case. The food was really well cooked and when there was an item not available there was a reasonable alternative suggested.
I have been staying at the Parkmore one night a week since November last year. I chose the hotel originally because of its location which is ideal for the work I am doing in the Stockton area. Being honest, some of the rooms I have stayed in have looked a bit dated but that said they have been clean and comfortable. I tend to land there at about 7 pm after leaving the office just before lunchtime, a 135 mile drive and an afternoon / evening meeting in Stockton and it`s always a welcome site. The hotel has the Leisure Centre with a Gym, Hot Tubs, Steam Room, Pool and Sauna which I use on each visit to chillax at the end of a long day. I have found the the food in the restaurant of an evening to be of good quality and the choice of dishes is very good and should cater for most everyone. I have always found the staff very friendly and attentive. (Chloe Jen & Charlotte) as are the staff on reception. Breakfast is also good quality with a good choice of continental and cooked. Like is said in the title it suits me, I find the Hotel comfortable and the staff friendly and accommodating and have booked further stays Jan & Feb 2016.
Very dated hotel not up to standard...paper thin walls, small room and old bed which we rolled in the middle together. No duvets and the room was cold. Hardly any sleep due to noise from outside and inside.
WE needed a good place to stay when we visited fiends in nearby YARM ,and we were not disappointed ,on the way home we stopped off on yarm high street ,which had free parking on sundays, to visit the many shops that were open , and for a nice cup of coffee . on the way home we visited seaton carew.
My husband and I stayed here on Saturday night, as we were going to a party at the golf club which is just across the road. We were really disappointed with the hotel. Our room was very small and certainly in need of refurbishment, the bathroom was tiny and the suite looked as though it was from the 80's. The pool and leisure area was the same , so dated. We went to a wedding reception there about 13 years ago and it has been neglected since then. The staff were pleasant, but I wouldn't stay there again.
Stayed one night for a work trip. Clean enough, but clearly an old hotel. Room had been refurbished, but not to a particularly high standard. Wi-fi was free, although signal was a bit "sketchy" in my room...signal kept being lost, so bear this in mind if planning to work and/or need reliable wi-fi. Water took absolutely ages to run hot...nearly gave up! Reasonable breakfast. Eggs cooked to order, so allow additional time for this - remainder of breakfast was buffet service. Within easy driving distance of Yarm Hight Street which has a variety of restaurants and a number of boutique shops.
Attended New Year's Eve dinner food and service excellent. Booked a twin room which looked like it had been recently decorated very clean and very pleasant. We have been coming to the hotel for over 20 years and it just gets better and better
insisted on payment in full and menu choices in advance which were both provided in November no one in the reception area on arrival so we drifted around until a waitress told us to get a drink at the bar and they would call us when ready one bar man on duty and a big queue booked for 1.45 , told at 2 that our table was ready and given directions to restaurant we walked into the room unescorted and had to wander round looking for our name on a table we waited for about 20 mins watching other tables a walk in and be served with their starter, eventually we got up and went and asked for our starter to be served. there were side plates and butter and we saw others served with bread rolls but we could not attract any waiting staff attention and did not want to get up again so we never did get served with a roll 20 mins after we finished our starter we again had to get up and ask for the sorbet at first we thought we were on the unlucky table then we noticed all of the tables around us were having the same problem an hour after the sorbet we had to get up and ask for our main course , it was served without any vedge which we had to ge up and ask for. the vedge was carott, broccoli and sprouts all served in the same dish very basic, no mash, parsnips, peas or turnip. there was no cranberry or bread sauce and not much gravy on the plate and we didnt like to ask for more. our desert was served quite quickly after the main was cleared and was delicious, one of the children from the table behind followed the waitress to ask when father xmas was coming and was told he couldnt make it! ! the pr material said father xmas would come with a special present for each child. after desert we had to get up and ask for some coffee. we were given no apology or explanation and felt very cheated, we left in bad moods with the feeling we had just been completely ripped off at £66 per head and no one from the parkmore cared except for some of the young waiting staff. I cant believe that we have not been contacted and offered even an apology or acknowledgement that they got it wrong and ruined the day for all of their guests. I can,t believe it. How not to run a business.
We decided to have our works night out here and were not disappointed. Staff were friendly and very attentive. There was an impressive range of drinks available and both bar and food service were efficient. There was a great atmosphere and the live DJ was fantastic! We would highly recommend the hotel and are looking forward to next years night out scheduled at the hotel!
Booked last minute so happy to be able to get a room. Booked a double £70 no breakfast included. The best was not much bigger than a single. Far too hot that you could not sleep. Very noisy as its on the train line. Went to use the facilities. Very dirty and will never return or recommend!
After visited previously and not encountering any problems we decided to give this hotel another try for christmas lunch.......BIG MISTAKE! after arriving early for our 2.00 clock lunch which had been pre-booked and paid for in November, we weren't seated until 2.45pm, we were served our first course pretty quickly but were not offered any drinks, therefore we went to the unattended bar ourselves only to be met by another diner who advised that he had been waiting over 10 mins already, we waited another 5 mins for a staff member to appear and finally were served our drinks by a member of staff who was apologetic and to be honest seemed to be running the bar single handed. We then noticed that some tables were being offered waiter service for drinks and others were being ignored, I must add that this was not the waiting staff at fault but a lack of staff for this pre-booked event. The sorbet course was served in good time, but we then noticed that other tables hadn't even received their starters. After a further hours wait we spoke to the duty manager and , he said sorry and walked away, at that point we received our mains, which to be honest was a real let down! the beef wellington was soggy and seemed to be microwaved and the turkey was tough, we did not finish our mains as it was not good quality, dessert was served after a further wait of around 30 mins and to be fair it was fine. Another staff member told us that they were understaffed as some staff had not turned up! which would explain things but we were not told that there were delays at the start and not offered anything such as a complimentary drink as a way of saying sorry. After looking around the hotel it seemed that there were a lot of rooms left untidy with dirty pots left on tables. The waiting staff were running around like headless chickens and obviously stressed out with the amount of work put on them by management, which was unfair to them and they were bearing the brunt of the complaints from the other tables! Management need to learn to manage their staff and be willing to assist when understaffed or at least have a plan B in force. They also need to consider the quality of food they are serving when diners are paying £66.00 per head! Changes are needed and very quickly for this business to survive. I don't particularly enjoy writing negative reviews but I wouldn't want anyone to have their Christmas day ruined like us and many other diners!
Food was satisfactory but service appalling, table booked for 2 pm, first course served at 2: 40 then waited over an hor for next course. Main course we are sure was micro waved, as potatoes and meat hot in middle and cold on outside. Lots of tables complaining , no management about to complain to, all young staff taking the flack. No apologie explanation except were told they were short staffed ! Letter to management to follow asking for refund. One table were also booked for new year which they cancelled. Big no go next year. Must say tho that I felt sorry for the young waitresses/ waiters who were doing their best.
We booked for Christmas Day lunch. Numbers were confirmed, menu choices made and bill paid in full in November. So this is a hotel that should be well prepared. They knew the numbers they knew the menu requirements and they had the cash well in advance. We arrived well in time at 1.30 for our 2pm booking. Despite explaining to the staff that one of our party had to leave at 3pm as he had been called to work it wasn't until 2.35 that our table was ready. Starters were served fairly quickly , the duck however was bland tasteless and little thought had gone into presentation. The next course was Sorbet so we thought that would follow fairly quickly. How wrong we were. After two complaints and a trip to reception to join the complaints queue our main course finally arrived an hour and forty minutes later. We pointed out we still hadn't had our sorbet. At this point the mains were taken away and the sorbet served. Throughout this wait the waiting staff had all but disappeared. Most other tables were complaining there was no drinks service at the tables and no one at the bar, glasses were dry and the wine long since gone. When the mains were brought back they had been reheated I assume in a microwave. Some plates had no potatoes, pigs had no blankets what little gravy there was on the plates had congealed and formed a skin. Food was hot in the centre and cold on the outside. So e staff looked close to tears. When food was served customers applauded and cheered. There was no management and no one appeared to be in charge. Requests for a duty manager were ignored. To be fair the sorbet and desserts were nice and the waiting staff did there best despite a lack of direction or management. Many people left in disgust however long before coffee and mince pies were served. There as no apology or explanation. There was no one available who could discuss or authorise a refund either partial or in full and there was a long queue of people demanding refunds. Whoever is in charge of this hotel is in the wrong profession. Absolute disgrace and Christmas Day spoiled for many including one poor couple who were also celebrating their engagement and the management team were in hiding. Needless to say we will not be back
Booked Christmas lunch months in advance with family table of eight. Room: cold had to keep coats on Food: satisfactory, was nice enough but nothing to rave about. No alternatives for children, what child will eat mushroom & Stilton soup or duck salad??? SERVICE:Appalling not enough staff. Shown into restaurant late and had to wait hour and half from starter to main course. Room full of unhappy diners. NO explanations or feedback given to any customers. Would avoid in future!!
I don't really like to leave bad reviews but as I'm sat in the Parkmore for our pre booked pre selected pre ordered food for 2 hours, I have a the time to fill. We are not the only table unhappy. I can't find a happy one. It's an absolute shambles. Having to beg for a drink service while waiting 2 hours to be served the main course, I fear it may have been longer if I hadn't asked for a refund as I wanted to leave. The manager has zero complaint handing experience. Just stood there, not acknowledging our request and simply apologised and walked off. We didn't know if he had listened to a word or not. Our refund request was solved in the managers mind by ignoring the refund request and jumping us up the queue and brining our mains out first, sending the other tables around us into full complaint mode too. There was no leadership at all and not even anyone on the hotel front desk could offer assistance or even a basic apology with explanation As I sit here listening to tables clap and cheer around me I'm going to leave the review here, just for your info the clapping and cheering is when another tables food finally arrives Certainly not the Christmas cheer people came out for
Disgusted, 3 days before our works Christmas party, the parkmore decided to cancel!! Although we have all received out full payments back, no offer of anything complimentary as an apology in fact no apology from the manager because he got a young lad to ring up to do his dirty work! Appalling!!
Friendly staff. Good size room, everything in good working order. Breakfast well cooked and well presented. Breakfast room should have some background music or a TV or something to liven it up a bit!!
100% improvement in the decor. Just a pity the decorators seem to have had free access to the cellar. Painting is appalling ! Clearly a botch job. Most of the staff, not all, though ,are still completely clueless. Prices are sky high and from what I have heard the food is even worse than it was before the alterations. The new manager has been blessed with a superpower. I.e. Invisibility ! Never seen him yet. What a shame. An opportunity to get this place sorted but instead it's reputation is worse than ever. No disabled access at all and the car park is still the joke it had always been. Whoever was in charge of this refurb is absolutely clueless. Harsh but true. I know of at least 20 ex Parkwood regulars who have decamped to the Stockton Arms where it is is more comfortable more welcoming and much much cheaper !!! Still a shambles Parkwood !!!!!
Someone had previously said that this place was tired, and i must admit that I agree. For a price comparison Premier Inns are cheaper, and cleaner! At times it was very noisy during the night and was near train line. The restaurant was very poor, chicken over-cooked and chewy, the fish was very watery, a result of being frozen, lots of batter, not much fish, so recommendation is do not eat here. Staff were friendly and okay, but neither the waitress or the receptionist on checking out, asked if everything was okay during our stay!!
We stayed for 3 nights to see family. The room was comfortable and clean we only got to have dinner once and that was in the room would of liked to have tried J's @ 363. The 1st breakfast we had was from under a hot grill and all dried out the 2nd breakfast I got was eggs and that was very good so I gess you need to get down early for a cooked breakfast. The Staff where very good we got checked in by Becky who was very accommodating than then spent the night in the bar with Craig who was very hospitable. We will be staying again.
You would have a better sleep at a Travellodge than this outdated and in need of improvement hotel, Rooms are very small and the walls so thin I was kept from sleeping till gone midnight and then awoke at 05?:30 by a combination of the bar downstairs and the TV in the next room. The beds are very hard and uncomfortable - stay away if you think you will get the quality normally associated with a Best Western
I thoroughly enjoyed the stay the staff were wonderful and very helpful very good value for money, the room was clean and very well decorated, the restaurant was good and food good service was excellent
Having used this hotel many times over the years I feel qualified to write and advise my views. The property is lost in a time warp, in desperate need of a major overhaul to save itself from falling beyond salvage. Breakfast was a farce, Fawlty Towers rerun...no visible staff for the first 5 minutes of waiting for a welcome and then a further wait whilst one of the 20 Plus dirty tables was cleansed and made ready for use. Next to no choices on the starter buffet table- no bread for self help toast or Juice choices !! Terrible !!!!!!
Stayed here for one night & really enjoyed it. Staff were very helpful & room was decent, if a bit warm. Would stay again. Didn't use the leisure facilities but they looked pretty nice. Seem to have regular clientele
Stayed for one night on business trip. Evening meal was very good with a good selection of meals. A varied choice was available for breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable with character. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately did not have time to sample the Gym and pool.
Having enjoyed a stay here several years ago we were a bit concerned about some negative recent reviews, but our expectations were certainly met. The hotel is on the edge of Yarm rather than Stockton and so ideally positioned as a base to explore quaint Yarm and the North York Moors. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was large, clean and comfortable and quiet - with only the vaguest hint of trains passing in the night! Food and service in the restaurant and bar were very good. The leisure club available to hotel guests was excellent, with large indoor pool, hydrotherapy pool, Jacuzzi/spa, steam room and sauna all in excellent order. Our only slight critic would be the rather dated décor (mostly featuring dark red) throughout the public areas.
Booked to stay here while in the area on business. The staff are terrific but the bedroom was like an oven. I came down to ask for a change of room but could not be facilitated, but was given a fan. All that did was to move the heat around the room, will not be back
I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover but the cover displayed by this hotel on its web page is nothing like reality. Whilst there has been an attempt to modernise the decor in the rooms (well in my room) the dated furniture and overall tired appearance lets this hotel down. Staff were very helpful, evening meal in the bar wad acceptable. The cooked breakfast was cooked to order and good but the continental buffet options were all cheap low end products with even the juice either watered down or very weak concentration! Room smelt fusty and even though my clothes were only in the wardrobe one night they also came out smelling fusty! Awful stain on the carpet that looked like blood! Being able to hear every word of my neighbour's phone call at 1.45 - 2.30 am did nothing to improve my stay. Shower was functional but the plumbing made a right racket. Overall not great, which is unusual for a best western!
This hotel was extremely disappointing -- while rooms were clean etc, the meals were terrible. Our attempt to have dinner was like a comic interlude -- except that it was very far from funny. Service was appalling -- with often 30-40 minutes delay between courses. After 55 minutes, we had had our first course. After 20 minutes, we were told that the kitchen had run out of risotto rice so we re-ordered; 20 minutes later, waitress returned, to say that there was no cannelloni in the kitchen, so that main course also unavailable. A re-order of mediterranean veg lasagne produced a meal which prompted even the hapless waitress to ask what it was. This was an apposite question. Smothered in bright orange cheese, it contained two small scraps of vegetable ...It bore every sign of being left-overs scraped from the bottom of a dish. Burgers were dry and overcooked. A miserable experience. Another 50 minutes and we managed to order dessert, hoping to salvage the meal. This proved not to be a good idea. The advertised Eton Mess had a heavy emphasis on 'mess'. Bizarrely, it was a gelatinous concoction, deep pink in colour. The advertised meringue had, for the msot part, been replaced by bits of wafer -- soggy and tasting of cardboard. Dissection rather than ingestion proved the best course -- investigation revealed no traces of the promised berreis, but lots of synthetic-tasting sauce, and a small piece of fruit (unidentifed). There was a sad strawberry on top. We were not alone in this experience, and others in the dinign room at the time waited some 55 minutes for dessert. Waitresses meanwhile developed selective vision, and clattered merrily setting tables for breakfast. The loud local radio didn't help the ambience. Breakfast -- the advertised menu online having been replaced by a buffet which was v. ddepleted when we arrived at 8.25 a.m. -- apart from piles of sliced bread and 4 dry-looking mini pains au chocolats/ croissants -- looked too bad to contemplate after the events of the night before. We left early. To its credit, the hotel refunded both the costs of dinner and breakfast. The hotel overall, however, left a bad taste in the mouth, both literally and metaphorically. The attitude of the breakfast staff -- ignoring diners, no menus, a conviction that customers were to be ignored, and that it was 'usual practice' when the hotel was full to offer a reduced service -- all stay in the mind. Our room was cold and it matched the service. We were looking for a hotel near Durham which we would use on a regular basis. The Parkmore Hotel was its antithesis. It bore no relationship to any Best Western we have previous stayed in.
Stayed at the Parkmore because it was handy for Durham University's Queens Campus in Stockton. Very glad we did too, because the hotel was lovely. Our downstairs room was flawlessly clean and comfortable. Staff were all friendly, and our full cooked breakfast was excellent. Yarm, just down the road, was charming and Preston Park, maybe a half mile towards Stockton, a real hidden gem. All in all, a lovely weekend stay in a very nice hotel.
Was first sat at a really wobbly table that I'm surprised was still there it was that wobbly. We've ourselves to another. Waited ages for a menu and drinks. Waited even longer for food wasn't even busy there were only 2 other tables and we ordered 2 parmo 's. Waitress was never in room or if she was was to busy on her phone so never got the chance to order more drinks so ate with out a drink. Really a terrible service for a 3 star hotel. Food was nice tho and large portions. Fair price for what you get. Wouldn't return because of service
Stayed for one night very average room , small with a walk round bed and small bathroom . Breakfast was a shambles with the waitress just exhorting 'I'm in my own' got my pot of tea after 20 mins and breakfast after 1/2 an hour which was luke warm. Could have said fine for an average price but for £146 ? A joke . Poor value , was told can charge that as busy this week !! Not again for me . PS staff friendly hence 2 begrudged stars
