Lovely historic hotel convenient location and comfortable room.

We had a lovely experience at the Linden Row Inn. We had a parlour suite, which was outfitted with a parlour room and bedroom. There were also 2 rocking chairs on the deck outside of our room, and we enjoyed sitting there with a glass of wine each evening. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate our requests. We found this to be a great value. Be aware that the doors are old and tend to slam, which can be noisy late at night and early in the morning.

Linden Row Inn is conveniently located in the Arts District of Richmond, which is very walkable and charming. The atmosphere is lovely, laidback but just friendly and helpful enough. The rooms are large, clean and well appointed, very private and very quiet! The beds and pillows are incredibly comfortable. It is easy to park temporarily to check in and get settled, then the parking garage is just a block away, reasonably priced at $10 per day. We required a frig for my daughter's insulin and a microwave for my hot pack for an eye condition. Both were waiting for us in our room. Breakfast is not served, but coffee and tea are available in the lobby and there are several places to get breakfast close by. I highly recommend Linden Row and plan to return on a subsequent visit.

This was a beautiful stay! I recommend the garden view if you are able to. You will be carrying your bags up stairs in this section so keep that in mind. The room was exceptionally clean and I love the gifted tote. The mini fridge was not plugged in but I understand the need to conserve energy. The drain didn't drain well and the tub stopper was difficult to use. The gardens were lovely and perfect to take pictures in. Drinking wine by the fountain will be a memory I keep forever.

Lovely historic inn in great location! Staff is welcoming and the room was very clean. Just a few steps to Perly's for breakfast and Henley on Grace for excellent dinner. $10 parking nearby. There are many different locations within the inn for rooms so you might want to call for a full description when you book. We would definitely stay here again.

Love love love this lovely hotel. The building is gorgeous, like stepping back in time to someone's grand home, with high ceilings, covered porches with rockers and a beautiful brick courtyard. Beds are comfortable. Bathrooms are well appointed. And the staff is wonderful, kind and attentive. Location is convenient to VCU and many great restaurants.

Very pleasant, unique hotel experience at the Linden. To start off it has friendly staff, nice sized, clean rooms. This boutique hotel also has history, architecture, antique furnishings, a pleasant garden, a solid connection to the author Edgar Allen Poe, and a friendly cat name Anabelle. What's not to like? One of the better hotel experiences in a long while,

Great location and we really enjoyed our stay. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the rooms quiet and perfect for our family. We enjoyed the cat who lives at the inn.

The Linden Row Inn was wonderful. It had the historic charm we were looking for with upgraded amenities. Was a very quiet room and the hotel was walkable to downtown. We also walked to the Civil War Museum from there so didn't need to hasle with the care. Parking was not on sight but reasonable price for 24 hours. Was easy to find place to eat and they had some great recommendations. We will stay there again if in Richmond area.

Quaint Inn in a lovely setting. Staff are friendly and very responsive and helpful. My wife had a desire for a specific room type (windows in both the main room and bathroom) and they flawlessly accommodated our request.

Although we grew up in Richmond, we barely knew Linden Row and had never stayed there. We are very glad we took the chance to spend a night. The room was in the Garden area and was a comfortable size. A nice wardrobe took the place of a closet. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom worked well. One thing: the bathroom sink needs a screen to catch stray jewelry. Service was friendly. We will return!

I absolutely loved my stay. Everything was perfect! From Annabelle; the adorable cat to the coziness of the room and the common spaces. Linden Row Inn felt like a trip in time. The location is ideal! I will definitely recommend Linden Row Inn to anyone traveling to Richmond, Virginia.

This inn offers affordable lodging in a historically meaningful milieu near the cathedral, though I learned too late that you must arrange a tour with the diocese (not the cathedral) to see the Museum of Virginia Catholic History on the cathedral grounds. Regarding the inn, their staff demonstrated excellence, including managing expectations well. I would stay there again.

My husband and I spent one night at the Linden Row Inn as a stop over on a longer road trip to North Carolina. The staff was great and the location fine. The hotel itself is very labyrinth with many rooms in out-buildings beyond a courtyard with steps and turns each way. As it was just one night, we booked the least expensive room which was under the stairs in the low buildings in the back. The room was clean and functional but not really what we expected given the historic story behind the property. That said, it was an extremely reasonable price and very fair value.

Our garden club traveled to the Richmond area to tour Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden and another small garden. We could not have been happier with our stay at Linden Row Inn! The history and ambience were so appreciated. The rooms, each with their own unique features, had all the comforts of a modern hotel, but with character! Staff members - from the initial call to check out - were friendly and professional. Linden Row recommended Tarrant's Downtown for our group dinner which was just a six-minute walk from the hotel. The restaurant is within the historic district of Richmond (it's a restored pharmacy) with a vibe reflecting its origins. The menu featured local specialties and freshly prepared food. Everything was delicious! Another enjoyable aspect of our stay was sitting in the Inn's outdoor courtyard before dinner, relaxing after a full day of touring gardens in D.C. There were other areas within the hotel to meet and relax as well. We are thinking about visiting Lewis Ginter in the fall. If we do, we will definitely stay at Linden Row Inn. Thank you! Visiting tips: there is an area for unloading and loading in front of the entrance. Parking is only one block away with reasonable rates.

I travel quite a bit and wanted an alternative to the chain hotels. This was a very pleasant experience. There was a lot of character and charm. The room was spacious and very comfortable. I would highly recommend considering this if you are traveling to Richmond.

I always stay at Linden Row when I'm in Richmond, at least twice a year. The combination of character, location, and price is unbeatable, and the staff is professional and very helpful. I've stayed in many hotels, from budget to high end, and this is one of my very favorites.

Best downtown location, especially for attending concert at the Allianz Amphitheatre, just a short 15 minute walk. Very friendly staff, large spacious rooms, quiet peaceful stay.

We attended our nephew's wedding in the garden courtyard. which is lovely. My husband and I and many in the wedding party stayed at the Inn. It was all beautifully decorated with antiques with a nod to Edgar Allan Poe, who supposedly played in the gardens as chiid. The employees were very courteous and helpful, our beds were extremely comfortable (new mattresses) and rooms were clean. And delightful bonus is the presence of the lovely feline, Annabelle (named after the heroine from Poe's famous poem). We highly recommend this lovely, historical inn.

I love this place! I stay every time I go to Richmond. The staff are lovely, the rooms are comfy, and Annabelle the Cat is a friendly fuzzy face each time.

We enjoyed our stay at Linden Row Inn. It was easy to get to from the airport, and the rooms were clean and quiet. A great value for the money. We did have to park in a parking garage that was a couple blocks away, but it was easy to get to with plenty of spaces (and only $10 a day). I would stay there again.

Highly recommend this incredible gem if you're looking to stay in Richmond - it's location is exceptional and everything from the rooms, to the property, to the Inn's cat and the staff, all combine to create for a really inviting and lovely stay.

Linden Row is a charming and quiet spot near downtown Richmond. Our room was spacious, very clean and quiet. The staff was helpful in locating parking and good restaurants in the area. Nearby Broad Street had plenty of choices for both breakfast and dinner. We recommend Bar Solita and Lift Coffee Shop highly. Do be careful at night as Broad Street seems to be a gathering spot for Richmond's homeless residents.

Historic and beautiful Hotel on Franklin Street. My husband and son and I spent a night at the Linden Row Inn. Our rooms were lovely (each contained the complete works of EA Poe), and completely quiet. We breakfasted in the courtyard. I would definitely stay there again whenI return to Richmond.

Location is great. Staff very friendly but could improve with some sort of uniform or at least slacks and a nice shirt. I would not stay here again as the maintenance on the Inn has been lacking for YEARS. Our room 318 had tattered shears and bed skirt. The furniture was nicked and one small desk chair was falling apart. The room was quite large and could have done with an extra comfy upholstered chair and an end table. With two people it was difficult to comfortably visit. One of us had to sit on the bed. Be warned the beds are very very high, as in old, but difficult for elderly ladies to get in and out.

The room with the antique furniture and high ceilings was spacious and lovely. All the staff were helpful and friendly. It was a quite area conveniently located and the bed was very comfortable.

The Inn is a comfortable and convenient place to stay in the heart of Richmond. The historic atmosphere, cozy courtyard, and responsive staff made our stay a pleasant and restful one. There was ample parking in the public garage right around the block. A boutique grocery store and a wide range of restaurants are within easy walking distance. This hotel get my thumbs up.

We picked this hotel based on the pictures and location and weren't disappointed. It was in a great location, easy walking distance to the Capital and other attractions. The room was charming with the renovated historic feel! The bed was a bit firm for my taste, but everything (room, bed, bathroom) was clean and comfortable. Our suite was huge; so much bigger than expected. The staff were all very friendly- including Annabelle, the resident cat (she was definitely my fiancées favorite part). Parking was a breeze in the garage around the corner; $10/24hours- no in and out privileges, but we parked our car and then walked where we wanted to go or grabbed the occasional Lyft. Overall a quiet, pleasant atmosphere. I recommend staying here.

The Linden Row Inn is a lovely unique hotel. These 7 row houses have been repurposed into lovely, truly lovely rooms with all current amenities, yet classic furniture. It is close enough to walk to the historic district-no car needed. The neighborhood is so quiet...The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. We will return to this hotel simply for the charm and people that work there.

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at the Linden Row Inn. We have loved both stays. For the first stay, we were in a suite that included a lovely nineteenth-century sitting room; this time I neglected to ask for a suite, but the room we received was comfortable and exceedingly quiet. Rooms have coffee makers and refrigerators and are spacious. The Inn is located downtown and within easy walking and driving distance of major sites. In short, it has loads of character. I am very glad that Mary Winfield Scott, the early twentieth-century preservationist helped to save this property.

Loved the sense of history and the courtyard space. Parking is not ideal but the printed instructions to the parking garage were perfect. The hotel was clean and the staff were kind and friendly. Daryus, who checked us in, went above and beyond in serving us. And spoke to us again every time we passed the front desk.

My wife and I were there for two nights with our 13-year-old grandson. We enjoyed the hotel's history and character, including its history with Edgar Allan Poe. Our room was spacious and clean. Front desk personnel were especially cordial and helpful.

While clean, the rooms are dated and there was maid service once in a 3 day stay. While I had been told it was ok to check out a day early, I was charged for the extra day which required several phone calls to clarify why - many of them unreturned by management. Staff is doing their best & the hotel cat was a nice touch, though it appears as if the hotel is in financial difficulty. I would make a different choice for another Richmond trip.

Linden Row Inn is my favorite place to stay in Richmond. The staff is helpful, my room is always immaculate, and I love that they have Keurig coffee makers in the rooms. But my favorite thing is that the rooms are not the same cookie cutter rooms in every hotel. They have personality, and each room I've stayed in has been beautifully furnished and decorated.

Great location, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, nice decor. The only real downside was the television was very off center above the fireplace and connection wires and power strip were hanging down exposed.

The room was so clean and cozy and the courtyard was beautiful. A great location downtown with lots of restaurants to walk to nearby, and not a far drive from other things to do in town. Plenty of parking nearby. This is a great place to stay for a weekend trip, and I'd love to come back to really enjoy the courtyard when it's a bit warmer.

My husband and I loved the Linden Row Inn. We stayed at the Linden for one night on a Saturday, Feb.21,2026. The hotel was welcoming with friendly staff and a front lobby cat named Annabelle. We had a clean, spacious room with 2 comfortable chairs and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was perfect. The room was really nice and I never heard a word from other guests the whole time we were there. We had a lovely breakfast Sunday morning. I slept like a baby and my husband did as well. I can't wait to come back to Richmond so we can stay at the Linden Row Inn again. Thank you.

My wife and I stayed for a night to go to a VCU basketball game with my daughter who attends the university. We stayed in a suite in the main house. Its the only way to experience Richmond and get a full feel for the history of the area. Conveniently located in the heart of the city. I would highly recommend. We will be back!!

We visited the Linden Row Inn with another couple during a weekday trip to see some sights and exhibits in Richmond. The location was perfect -- walking distance to several terrific restaurants and to the state Capitol and a quick drive to the museums. We were worried about the parking situation but it turned out to be easy -- there's a $10 a day self park garage one block away, and you can unload your suitcase in front of the hotel before parking. The hotel has a great deal of charm, history and character. Rooms were spotless and beds/linen very comfortable. No street noise. The decor is a little worn but it didn't detract from the stay. The hotel staff were warm and friendly and happy to be of assistance. We'd be happy to return.

Beautiful hotel! I stayed in one of the Garden rooms. I really enjoyed the whole feel of this hotel. Very different from your standard style hotel. I would love to go at a time that I could enjoy the courtyard and also the surrounding attractions.

We've been going to the Linden Row Inn for years. It's charming with lots of character, reasonably priced, and conveniently located. There are several great restaurants nearby. We're often there because of VCU events, and walking to the university is convenient. The staff is always accommodating. We'll be back.

The Linden Row Inn is my new go to place to stay in Richmond, Virginia. I went twice in two weeks and stayed in one garden room and then in the main house. Both times the rooms were extremely clean, nicely appointed and very comfortable. It's like going back in time with all the modern amenities. I love this place and I recommend it to anyone looking to visit Richmond, Virginia.

Williamsburgesque vibe with nice large interior courtyard close to downtown. Nice rooms, helpful staff, and a resident cat! The one downside is that their restaurant is only open certain days of the week. There are restaurants and breakfast places within walking distance, but it was a little inconvenient. It is within walking distance of the main Amtrak station and bus depot and on bus routes, so you don't need a car.

This hotel in Richmond, VA is so charming! If you are an antiques or history buff, you will absolutely love it. The suite was large and homey, decorated with beautiful antiques. Decorative mantels in both the living room and the bathroom. The staff was very accommodating and friendly too. So quaint. I highly recommend.

A handsome line of old row houses delightfully repurposed as a perfectly located city inn. Large, clean rooms. Helpful staff. Much more economical than a high-end hotel. If arriving by car, you will need to find parking.

Excellent Vintage Hotel that has a feel of elegance and historic charm. The interior courtyard is a huge surprise upon entry. It also makes a great outdoor event space for small parties and weddings. There are even larger 'parlor' suites, that are extremely spacious with large floor to ceiling beautifully framed windows in the separate living room/parlor, which is very tastefully appointed. The Linden Row Inn is an uncommon experience!

My husband and I stayed at the Linden Row Inn over the holidays on our way to Charleston, SC, and absolutely loved it. It's a charming, small hotel with clean rooms, a lovely courtyard, and so much character. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and they truly went above and beyond by mailing us an item we accidentally left behind. A wonderful place to stay in Richmond—we'd happily return.

Great location. We were able to walk to a restaurant close by for dinner which was really nice after a long drive. The hotel is comfortable and quaint. There's a nice sitting area to read if you want to stay in.

This was my third stay at Linden Row Inn. I love historic hotels and inns, ones that have kept much of their original character, and exist in an historic neighborhood. Linden Row, in addition, is comfortable and interesting, with a lovely parlor and a friendly cat named Annabelle (for the poem by Edgar A Poe).

This hotel was the perfect complement to the VMRA. It was a delight to stay in a historic building and not in a generic hotel.

An historic location and yet right downtown! Easy access to the highway, and we parked on the street with no problem. Would love to come back in the summer to enjoy the courtyard.

Such a lovely and unique hotel experience! I stayed here with my parents a few decades ago and was delighted to bring my husband for a quick weekend getaway this holiday season. What a thoughtful way to preserve historic row houses for a unique hotel experience. Front desk staff, housekeeping, bedroom, beds, private sitting room area, and lobby/lounge were all (respectively) welcoming, immaculate, comfy, and elegant! The only drawback was our very outdated and poorly lit bathroom, which was out of step with the other modern renovations sitewide. Hoping this one is soon to be revamped as other reviews here compliment modern bathrooms. Excellent location centrally located between the major attractions at either end of Richmond. A wonderfully quiet neighborhood with a few great walkable eateries nearby (our faves were lunch at Perly's and a pre-dinner cocktail at The Jefferson). Parking on the street is easy if you pay attention to the signs, and you can load in & out directly in front of the entrance before you find a parking spot. Easy! Thank you (and Annabelle the sweet round cat) for such a lovely stay! We will be back!

Everything about this hotel was special! Having stayed in hundreds of hotels in the U.S and the world, I would put this hotel in the top ten.i I especially enjoyed the old world feel and historical connection to Edgar Allen Poe. I HIGHLY recommend this !

3 adults and a 4 day visit to Virginia changed from charming to elegant as soon as we pulled up to the loading zone. We were there for history and Edgar Allan Poe. We became aware the Poe played on the land under the Linden Inn as a child. 😎 Right? We found out OUR suite was named the Poe room. Extra 😎. Don't go to the Jefferson. The Linden Row is exceptional, the neighborhood is impeccable. Food, drink, no downtown issues at all. So quit. The rooms were a time capsule of perfection and the modern additions over the centuries were up to date. The beds the linens, the grounds kept immaculate. Front desk went out of there way for us at all hours. Private, clean, serene, even the books in the bookcase were spot on and all wrapped in elegance. At the center of the city, book now. Get a suite. Cheers!

We had a lovely stay at the Inn! We only stayed 1 night, and did not take advantage of the common areas which looked very cozy and other guests seem to be enjoying. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet, and easy to reach from the reception area. Kids loved Annabelle the cat and the rocking chairs outside the room. The Inn is walking distance from the Capitol and the Poe Museum (30 mins is walking distance for us Europeans!), and a short drive to many of city's cool areas such as Maymont, the Art (+other) Museum and Carytown.

This is a great downtown location that is quiet & walkable. There are several bus lines nearby. The staff was so warm & welcoming. It feels like a literary place, & the cat Anna Belle is a cutie pie.

The Linden Row Inn is a unique boutique hotel. It demonstrates some of the history of Richmond Virginia, and it is located right in the heart of downtown Richmond making access to Richmond's restaurants and activities very easy. My wife and I had a delightful experience during our stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful; Vincent greeted us as we arrived, and the restaurant staff were very welcoming as well. We look forward to our next stay at the Linden Roe Inn.

A great hotel. The rooms were nice, and spacious, at a reasonable cost. The neighborhood was great, an easy walk to the capitol, great restaurants, and the Jefferson Hotel. Service was excellent, and they recommended several excellent restaurants to us that were also easily walkable. The lounge area was also nicely appointed and comfortable. We would happily return if we return to Richmond.

This is not a safe hotel for a woman to stay in alone. Our room looked nothing like the pictures. I don't know the last time I've stayed in a hotel that didn't have a bolt lock for the door when you leave. I felt like I had to leave my possessions in the car. Parking garage was away from the hotel and had no attendant. I'm not sure what I can say nice other than the towels were nice. Additionally the hotel felt like a fire trap as we were on one of the higher floors. Other than one female desk clerk the rest of the staff did not appear professional.

We stayed one night in Richmond and wanted to stay at a historic hotel. Linden Row was the place. We booked a large suite which was mostly built in the 1870's, but the bed, and the bathroom were very updated. It was a great place for our short visit to Richmond, quiet at night, and we would stay again if we go back.

We found the Linden Row in the Jackson Ward area to be charming, comfortable and eclectic in design. Originally almost an entire block of 19th century row houses, it is a nice mix of old and new, with plenty of old brick walls, fashionable salons and interior open courtyards Our room was large, with a comfortable king-sized bed, high ceilings, large draped windows and a nice mix of modern and period furniture. The bathroom was large and completely modern. The staff was friendly and helpful There are a few things of concern, however. There is no onsite or reserved parking. There is a Park garage about a block away. We were able to park along the street directly across from the entrance during our entire three-day stay, but it could be a problem for some. There is a charming bar which we found enjoyable the first evening and there is a restaurant, but both are closed Tuesday through Thursday. There are only a few restaurants within walking distance. Guests would better served if at least the bar was open every evening, with a reasonable selection of bar food. Our room did have a refrigerator and a Keurig coffee set up, but for a nice and not inexpensive inn to provide cheap, flimsy disposable plastic glasses really diminishes the experience. You have a restaurant, ergo there is a dishwasher, so why not go that extra step and provide real glasses and ceramic mugs? Finally, our room had an ancient but nonfunctional fireplace, which I understand. However, the salons on the ground floor would be even more charming with gas logs or even electric fires in their fireplaces. The above are more suggestions than complaints. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

My husband stayed at Linden Row Inn years ago and came home telling me he wished I had been there too. We finally went back together and we hope to go again. Our stay was delightful! The staff was so friendly and helpful and the Inn is beautiful. We especially liked the patio areas and the decking with rocking chairs. The location is convenient and close to everything we had planned, yet still restful. We hope to be back.

This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Richmond, about 1 mile from Shokoe Bottom. The exterior of this historic building is lovely as are the interior public spaces. Our particular guest room was lacking, however. The bathroom door did not shut completely, the bathroom heater was nonfunctional, there were water stains on the bathroom ceiling, and the toilet paper holder was broken. Beware also of the almost $100 "Tax and Recovery Fee" which increased the cost of our $300/night room to over $400. For this amount of money, there are a number of other nice places to stay in the area. The staff couldn't have been nicer and we appreciate their personal touch.

Have stayed here a couple of times. Check in / check out is always a breeze. The entire hotel is lovely and quieter than one might expect from older buildings.

My wife and I stayed in a Garden Queen room at the Linden Row Inn for two nights in September 2025. The staff was very friendly, and the room was clean, spacious, and featured a beautiful light-filled bay window. It was nicely furnished, and we felt comfortable the moment we walked in. There's a safe public parking garage just a block away for $10 per day, which was very convenient. The location was excellent—we walked down to Brown's Island on the James River a couple of times during our stay. There are also plenty of great restaurants nearby. We especially recommend Mama J's Kitchen for Southern food and Perly's for a classic Jewish deli experience. We'll definitely stay at the Linden Row Inn again the next time we visit Richmond

We absolutely love The Linden Row Inn! We have spent several special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries) in Richmond and have enjoyed stays at this property several times! It has historic charm, pleasant staff, and is walkable to so many great attractions and restaurants. And we love the Inn cat, Annabelle!

Rooms were great but staff was the highlight. David at the front desk & Will at the restaurant went above & beyond with their hospitality. I called to ask about restaurant hours and David kindly advised the restaurant was closed unexpectedly. Five minutes later, he called back with an update that the restaurant was open with a limited menu. He didn't need to do that, but I was grateful he did. We went to the bar for drinks & snacks and Will was lovely & engaging without being imposing (a fine line to balance). About 20 minutes after leaving the bar, Will called our room to ask if we had left a sweater at the bar. We didn't, but this call was yet another example of the hotel's staff exceeding expectations. Regretfully I don't remember the name of the lovely individual who checked us in & out, but they were equally hospitable & accommodating and very knowledgeable of the area and local recommendations. I worked in hotels for 10+ years- front desk & sales- and my spouse remains in the industry, so we are frequent travelers with extremely highly expectations. Needless to say my expectations were exceeded and I look forward to my next excuse to visit the Linden.

This was a Sunday night stay for my wife and I to have dinner at Fall Line, hear the band Lawrence, then on Monday am drive home to Maryland. Every thing was within .25 mile walk from the Inn, as is the Convention Center and the Carpenter. Linden Row was a great historic place with friendly staff. The rooms are small but ours was clean and with all the usual amenities. For overnight parking, you have to use a garage a block away for $10/24 hours. I'd stay here again, really liked the place.

Wonderful experience including easy check-in, parking nearby, large/spacious room with comfortable bedding and amenities as well as a super large bathroom. Very quiet space located within walking distance to Allianz Riverfront Amphitheater and other downtown attractions. Great value/cost compared to other nearby hotels.

My parents, grandfather and I were in Richmond for a family wedding, and had the absolute loveliest time at Linden Row. They graciously let my elderly grandpa check in early so he could take a nap, which was above and beyond. The rooms were clean, lovely, and had a real sense of place of Richmond with the Poe references and antique fireplaces. The inn cat was an absolute delight, and the common spaces made it feel like a home away from home. I'd enthusiastically recommend Linden Row Inn to anyone wanting a lovely, well-located hotel experience with a lot more character than a big hotel chain.

As my wife and I enjoyed an overnight staycation for our anniversary, we were only there for a total of 12 hours. It was the perfect spot, sitting out in the garden area, taking a step back in time in the room and the privacy away from the city made this the perfect spot to forget that you lived in the same town. My wife said that we need to do this at least 4 times a year just to get away and unplug for a night. Can't wait to go back as it was her favorite surprise getaway in our 23 years of marriage. Amazing experience.

The Linden Row Inn is a real hidden gem. We typically avoid the chain hotels and look for quirky and fun places to stay when we travel, and this hotel is a wonderful addition to our list. The historical architecture and furnishings are interesting and fun, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

It was a beautiful room I stayed in the historic room 222 on floor 2 the parlar suite. I believe it was the Mary Johnston room. That's Edgar Allen poes girlfriend.. staff was polite and wonderful. When im in the area again I will be staying there. If you're into historic places this is one to see.. it was priced high but still affordable. It should be a bucket list place to stay here.

If you're looking for a boring, cookie cutter hotel, this place is not for you. We stayed in one of the parlor suites, room 218 to be exact. The rooms were spacious and appropriately decorated. The antique furniture, although some of it was damaged, was still beautiful and functional. The tall ceilings and windows, as well as the ornate chandelier were extremely cool. A very large and heavy set of pocket doors separated the bedroom from the living room. Since I slept on the very comfortable couch, not the pullout, the heavy doors came in handy to shield my wife from my snoring. She mentioned the king sized bed was comfortable and judging by how late she slept, I believe her. The bathroom was fine. As others have mentioned, the ceiling is drop-style acoustic, like you seen in office buildings. A "tin" drop ceiling would have been a better fit. Toiletries were great. I forgot the brand but they very citrusy and much better than my generic Walmart supplies. My only complaint is about the full-sized mirror hanging on the inside of the bathroom door. As someone who avoid mirrors, especially full-sized ones, it was quite shocking to look up and see my nekkid self sitting on the toilet. Every wrinkle, grey hair, saggy skin, atrophied muscle and varicose vein was there in full display as I took my daily... I sure wish I had kept the lights off. The public areas of the hotel were well kept and intriguing. I was waiting for Poe's ghost to show up but it never did. Breakfast and coffee was available but the famous Perly's was around the corner so we couldn't pass that up. Parking is in a garage about a block away, which isn't the greatest situation but it wasn't too bad either. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and I would recommend it to my less boring friends.

I've travelled the world. I've been to Africa and Asia and Europe and Australia, the Pacific and the Americas. I've stayed in Hiltons and Wyndhams and Hyatts and everything in between. This singular hotel is the best of them. Period. The staff are amazing. The building is quaint, comfortable, well appointed and perfectly located. It's as cozy as Christmas. Did I mention the staff? You won't be just relaxed, you'll actually enjoy yourself, even with the hassles of traveling. All of this is before you realise that the building itself is historically significant. It's not a resort, as such, but I would actually dogleg a trip just to stay here. Its one weakness is that the parking is a block away, but you'll have a smile on your face while you're driving the car over there, and it just won't matter.

Linden Row is always a great place to stay. I've been staying here now for approximately 5 years. Its a perfect location two blocks from Broad Street, with plenty of restaurants, VCU and shopping nearby. Parking is easy across the street in a metered lot and the facility is always clean comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful and a little oasis in the downtown area. The rates are also very reasonable.

We just stayed one night but the hotel was very nice and convenient to downtown and VCU. Our room was big and clean and comfortable. We slept great and coffee in the morning was much appreciated. I was a little concerned about street parking but it was not an issue. We would stay here again.

My girlfriends and I chose this hotel based on close proximity to the Allianz Ampitheater for a weekend of Dave Matthews Band, and we were very happy with our hotel choice. It is such a cute historical hotel in a beautiful city. The employees are all very nice, and so are the beds and toiletries provided. The parking situation when you first pull up to check in is kind of confusing, with cars parked on the left and right. I honestly thought that I was behind a row of cars that were turning left, but they were just parked in the street like that! The parking garage is a few blocks away and you have to pay for parking overnight. The rooms are AMAZING, and you feel like a real princess. Lots of Edgar Allen Poe books and artwork. We would definitely come back. VERY IMPORTANT: Before booking a room, take a minute and sign up for their free rewards program. I can't remember the name of it, but it is on their website or you can call and ask. It will drop the price by A LOT, like by half! Definitely worth the extra minute to fill out the online form. CON: If you cancel, you don't get money back. They have a no refund policy on any cancellations. Also, it may be hard for people in wheelchairs to get in and out of the rooms due to the steps going down and then stairs again going up and down to get to your suite.

I found the hotel to be very charming and the staff was quite helpful. The hotel is very clean and the bed is quite comfortable. It feels as though one is stepping back in time as they feel in the room is reminiscent of 1870 or so especially like the courtyard and the cat who roams the hotel whois obviously the proprietor of the hotel. The hotel is half a block away from a very good Jewish delicatessen, pearlies, I would especially recommend this short walk if you're hungry for the quintessential delicate tested experience. If you have one your walking shoes, you can walk down to the Riverfront or to Bell Island where they often have concerts. Also on first Fridays, the hotel is very close to the Art venues on Broad Street.

A wonderful historic inn! We especially liked the cat that greeted us when we checked in. Front desk person was not only friendly, but knew a lot about the property and its history. The rooms were comfy and unpretentious.

Beautiful property with charm and elegance in downtown Richmond. The room we stayed in was a Parlour room, and it was absolutely gorgeous. It had a seating area with a desk and space to spread out. We slept great and there was a great courtyard for walking around. It was quiet and so much not like a hotel. We will absolutely stay again. And the staff was fantastic. Make sure to stop by and pet Miss Annabelle. 🐾

My wife and I got away for a few days in Richmond to see two concerts - one at Allianz Amphitheater and the other at The National. We found the Linden Row Inn as a highly rated boutique hotel that was within walking distance to both venues and WOW are we happy we did! The staff was friendly, our room was HUGE and comfortable, the hotel was beautiful and we were able to walk everywhere. Highly recommended!

We went to Richmond for the Neil Young concert. We stayed at The Linden Row Inn which was spectacular. Rooms were great and beds very comfortable. Very historic building which we all loved and staff was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend The Linden Inn for anyone visiting Richmond.

We had a great time when we stayed here over the weekend. The beds were super comfy, our room was huge and the AC was so cold! Which was perfect because outside was so hot! The staff did a fantastic job getting everyone checked into the rooms and were super helpful recommendation local places to eat. Which was also spot on. Also, parking was super cheap here compared to other hotels in the area. We are planning on going back to Richmond again and will definately stay at this hotel.

The Linden Row Inn was the perfect venue for our small family reunion. Perfectly located for everything we wanted to do and see in Richmond. Pleasant and helpful staff. Fireplaces, antiques, cozy and convenient.

I didn't get to stay long here as it was a halfway stay for me just for the night. I didn't get to see much of the Inn but what I did see was great. The nice little area in front and the great customer service greeted me at nearly midnight. The nice man was very helpful and helped me figure out where to park and how to get there and what I needed to do. When I went to park it was a very short walk away and only cost $10 for the night. Which was very nice and convenient. Back at the Inn, I was also greeted by a gorgeous kitty that just wanted some love and we gave it to him even though it was midnight at this point we couldn't pass up some kitty love. The room was very cozy but I was also a little nervous because i realized this place was a little older than I thought and I was slightly scared that we might be met with some spirits. However nobody visited us that night. They must have known we were just too tired fore nonsense...haha. Anyway the room was very roomy. It has great vintage decor and some very comfortable beds. The mini fridge and the microwave was a nice touch. The bathroom was also nice and the shower was amazing with great pressure. The tv is standard with just enough channels to give us something to watch to unwind. There was a window to the hallway since we were basically in the basement or "inside room". It was a cute touch and was nice and dark. The only things that I thought may be improved is that the door had a crack so when the room is dark you can see the light come through. It wasn't a huge deal but you can hear the neighboring room open and shut their door and sometimes you can hear the talking if they are loud. But it is no worse than a regular expensive hotel room. I still slept very well. I didn't grab coffee because either the coffee maker was not plugged in or it was not working. I didn't have enough time to find out as we slept until almost 10 am and we wanted to make sure we were out before 11am. But down the street was a lovely coffee shop that I enjoyed. The A/C was a little freezing when it was blowing but when it stopped it was a little warm. But again not a big deal. This place is still worth staying at and I would definitely stay here again. It is centrally located and I felt very safe even walking alone at night from the parking garage back to the Inn.

Outdated the garage is a block away. Coming in late at night, it was very scary. Not as “easy“ as they had said. Additionally, it smelled, the TV volume was not working, the air conditioning was extremely cold, just dirty.

Upon attempted check in at another hotel, The Graduate by Hilton, informed that our reservation was canceled because they were overbooked due to construction. We had several rooms booked there for family members, and this last-minute change was very stressful. It took the original hotel hours to solve the issue. Finally, we were booked at the Linden Row Inn as a replacement. I cannot say enough good things about the Linden Row Inn. It was excellent in every aspect. They handled the transition and the new reservation with ease and were very welcoming when we arrived. Throughout our stay, the staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. Every single one of them that we encountered was excellent. Vincent at the front desk was particularly kind. Thank you to all of them. The hotel is in a unique and charming old building. Lots of character. But the facilities were modern i.e. excellent air conditioning on hot nights and plenty of water pressure. Our room was large and lovely. All was neat and clean. I should mention that one of our family members who did retain their room at the graduate was not quite so happy with their accommodations. We were so pleased with the Linden Rowe Inn that we have booked it for our next stay in Richmond in October.

I travel a lot and like to stay in small independent hotels. I was excited to find this hotel. Small hotel, great reviews...But my stay was really disappointing. What really let me down was that the survey they sent via e-mail after my stay was not acknowledged. The room was dirty; cobwebs in all the light fixtures, carpet was stained, the furniture was heavily chipped and stained, there was a water stain on the bathroom ceiling, there were paint drips and splatter just outside the bathroom door, one floor lamp you had to unplug to turn off, the night stand looked like it came from a garage sale and wasn't repainted, just gross. Satellite TV went out.

Our room was lovely. The beds were very comfortable, the air conditioning was very refreshing on such a hot weekend. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was very accommodating.

Bad experience with noisy air con, tv not working for 24 hours, deposit not returned 4 days later, curtains hanging off and loose toilet seat. Car parking not with hotel, misleading. Cat lives there so if like me you're highly alergic stay away!. Comfy bed and great restaurants nearby.

I loved staying here! The history, the antiques, the friendly staff, the cat Annabelle, the lovely garden, the walkability to places we wanted to visit. I seek out hotels with history and character rather than modern nondescript boxes or frou-frou resorts. I chose this for it's association with Edgar Allan Poe, and we enjoyed a glorious five night stay--slept better than I do at home. So relaxing to sit in the garden under the trees reading, eating or taking in the sights and sounds. It'll be even better when the restaurant reopens.

We enjoyed staying in this historic inn. Our room had unique charm, with it's fireplace (not functional, but still decorative), tall windows and comfortable bed. The Inn is within easy walking distance of good restaurants, historic neighborhoods and the James riverfront parks. We also caught a glimpse of the cute Inn cat, who was stationed near the front door.

I rarely write negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share our experience at the Linden Row Inn to help future guests make informed decisions. While the exterior of the inn and the surrounding neighborhood are charming, the interior tells a very different story. Upon entering our room, I was genuinely shocked. The furnishings were extremely cheap—some pieces looked like they came straight Walmart —and many were chipped and dinged. The room had an overall dingy and neglected feel that made me double-check the hotel's website to confirm we were indeed in the right place. The issues didn't stop there: Bathroom amenities were minimal to the point of being stingy—only two bath towels, and the toiletries were so small they barely served one person, let alone two. The trash cans were tiny. The bathroom was very clean, however. There were no extra comforts like blankets, robes, or even bottled water for the coffee maker. Coffee was to be made with paper cups and plastic utensils, which felt cheap and out of place for a hotel charging $350 per night for a basic room. The mattress was so worn that it visibly caved in when you sat on it. Although the room did appear clean overall, the worn-out furniture gave it a neglected, almost dorm-like vibe—honestly, it reminded me of an old sorority house. We were so underwhelmed we decided to skip showering and left as soon as we woke up the next morning. It's baffling how this hotel receives such glowing reviews. I had dismissed a previous reviewer's criticism, but having stayed here, I now realize how accurate it was. This was absolutely not a good value and a deeply disappointing experience.

Excellent customer service and a beautiful venue for a wedding! Rooms were very nice. Looking forward to the opening of their new restaurant. Parking is a bit of an issue, but not a big one once you figure out the correct entrance to use. I would definitely stay here again.

We came into town to see a play at the Atria Theater. The location was great because everything was in walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful with information concerning parking, dining, etc. As far as accommodations, the room was clean, the bathroom was updated and clean with all of the items we needed and the bed was comfortable. I know it is a historical building which is very quaint, but I did not like the fact that the doors to enter each floor were unlocked from the outside. I would rather it be a little more secure, (locking doors) especially when the rooms are in the downtown area.

This beautiful hotel has a fascinating and rich history, something I am always looking for. In addition to its perfect location for touring Richmond, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking is easy in a parking garage a block away and inexpensive, something to be appreciated in a city. (Guests can unload their luggage in front of the hotel.) I am very pleased and can easily recommend the hotel.

I always use Trip Advisor and the traveler ranking as my source of truth for all my travel in US and International and have never had a gap this wide in the ranking and my personal experience. This Inn in my opinion is so misrepresented in TA rank, actual vs pictures, quality and value to cost. It is run down, there are zero amenities (not even a bottle of water in room for coffee maker), no valet or assistance with bags, parking is block away at risk in public lot and not great location. Value to price way out of whack and would not recommend unless you want a really old inner city row house for $350+/night. This is no vintage historic charm at all, just old furniture and low end bath fixtures for renovations. Couple bright sides are that the bathroom was clean, surprisingly quiet at night and couple noteworthy restaurants around it. Never again.

I had a great stay at the Linden Row Inn. It is a very nice, historic, clean hotel. The second highlight of my stay was the room key. It was an actual key and not a card fob. My military family and I had a ball, within reason of course. The highlight of my stay involved how accommodating the staff were in finding me another room with two beds. I would definitely recommend a stay at the Linden Row Inn to family and friends.

Very nice spot, close to VCU, and a great value. The "old-school" real live keys are a nice touch. Rooms are larger than you'll find in a reasonably priced, more modern hotel. "Historic" is another name for old, so it may not be for everyone, but we were very satisfied. I wanted to get my bike out of the rain and they graciously locked it up in the office.

We loved Linden Row Inn and we would definitely visit again. Annabelle, the resident cat, is great welcoming you to Linden Row. Jay and Vincent (Vincent especially) go out of their way to make sure your stay is PERFECT! The location is downtown and the buildings have been restored. We did not stay in the Main House, and we loved our room in the Garden (?) House. Tip: Be aware that Housekeeping is not provided on Fridays or Sundays. We had to ask for Housekeeping Services on Monday. Tip: Ask for an upstairs room. We stayed on a ground level and the people above us tromped around all night the first night. Beds are great, pillows are good, and the bathroom is modernized (with a make up mirror that so many places forget about)! Make sure and learn ALL (or as much as you can) the history about Linden Row Inn and Richmond!

Beautiful and historic hotel. We had a lovely time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. We loved that there was a cat on the premises! Our rooms were spacious and comfortable. I don't really have anything else to say, but evidently there is a minimum that must be written for this to be acceptable.

The Linden Row Inn was lovely and historic. The staff at the front desk were very kind and there was a cute cat running around that was also friendly. The rooms have actual metal keys and seem to have been preserved from centuries before. It's a living piece of history.

Great location, lovely facility, helpful friendly staff. Numerous restaurants in the area and plenty to see, especially if you like to walk, whether downtown to the river, the Capitol and, just beyond, the beautifully restored old train station, or if going west, into the Fan district and beyond to the Virginia Fine Arts Museum.

Comfortable bed and cute room but the people and the architecture and history make is more enjoyable. The area is filled with awesome buildings and the garden is very nice. Everyone should try it and feel it. So many hotels are so carbon copy's and the corporate feel is everywhere. It's nice for the old country feel.

We love the Linden Row Inn. We've stayed there maybe a dozen times. We have stayed in quite a few hotels in Richmond and we would recommend the Linden Row over all of them. We had some minor issues with the wifi on our last visit, and the staff upgraded us to a better room without hesitation or additional cost.

Great location. Had a large room with two beds and it was quite comfortable. High ceilings. Great tv. All the usual things. The review said that rooms were noisy but mine was definitely not. The office staff was super nice. Parking was no problem. Lots of restaurants around and walking around downtown Richmond is fun. Lots of stuff to see, especially down by the Waterfront. Didn't try the restaurant cuz it was closed Sunday and Monday evening and that's when I was there.

This place is fantastic! Don't waste your money on a big chain hotel when you can have a unique experience with an old world, luxury feel. Huge rooms, each with a unique feel. Staff was super friendly and helpful, and the location is central to many areas we wanted to visit.

We enjoyed our stay here very much as our entire family joined us for a wedding and reception. The rooms are very spacious with beds that were comfortable as well. The staff did a fantastic job for my nieces wedding and the front desk concierge could not have been more friendly, helpful and professional. Even the hotel cat was there to greet us all. I highly recommend this hotel and plan to go back for another visit.

It was a very enjoyable visit. The bed was great. It wasn't too soft or hard. The hotel was set up beautifully inside and you wanted to see all of it. There was a fountain near my room and I would get to enjoy it before going inside the room. It was in easy walking distance from most things in Richmond. I would go again.

Our team was in town for a conference and spent 3 nights at Linden Row Inn. We were within walking distance to the convention center, and many great places to eat. While parking is a block away--that, too is easily accessible. The rooms are comfortable and unique. Richmond offers so much history--this place just mirrors that in a beautiful way. Friendly, clean and well-maintained--enjoy!

The Jefferson Hotel is very close, must see beautiful hotel, 5 stars, perfect for a special lunch or dinner.

We had been hearing that Richmond was a cool city for a couple of years, and stayed at the Linden Row Inn for a friend's wedding. The location was perfect for checking out downtown on a First Friday open gallery evening. Lots of great restaurants and bars nearby. We were in a spacious, bright room on the front side of the hotel facing the library.

Charming old style elegance! The location was great. Walkability: Grace Street restaurants around the corner. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was large, comfortable, and clean. The courtyard lent a feel of historic authenticity. Definitely helped make our trip memorable.

We stayed in the Edgar Allan Poe suite and it was very charming. The suite had very tall ceilings and lovely fireplaces. I loved the historical setting and the New Orleans vibe. Very walkable to downtown and a 30 minute walk to museum district.

I love the history in this place! You are greeted by a very friendly, helpful staff, including Annabel the cat (she is unobtrusive, if you don't care for cats). Every room is huge, with a roomy bath. The linens and towels are soft and fluffy, with nice toiletries. There is a nice little restaurant, and many nice places to eat within walking distance. It is right in the middle of a zillion things to see and do in Richmond!

My family LOVED their stay w Linden Row Inn. They talked about the rocking chairs outside, having drinks at Parterre, the beautiful rooms and the staff. They particularly loved every staff person they encountered. Not only did they tell me but they told everyone at our reception weekend events how much they enjoyed your property. I didn't have to worry for even one second about how you would take care of them.

What a disappointment. Was hoping for some southern charm and I got run down not so nice part of town. Skip this place. Luckily we are only here for one night. Honestly, I don't feel safe walking around. And it feels like there has been an invasion of the body snatchers! Where are all the people??? B

Let me start by saying we have stayed at historic places on four continents and usually prefer them for their charm and quirkiness. When staying at historic places, we know not to expect all the conveniences of home, but we do expect to be comfortable and to feel welcome. Neither of those things happened here. The disappointment began when we entered the room. We had booked a parlor suite, which looked lovely on the website. What we saw was something else entirely. There is a difference in historic charm and junkyard shabbiness. The thermostat was set on 70 with a sign that said not to turn it below 70 since it would freeze up. The temperature on the thermostat read 80. The courtyard view described on the website didn't exist. I am including pictures of the room and the view. The parking is a couple of blocks away in a public garage and is only $7 a day, paid in advance. Fair enough until there is no parking space available, and the front desk offers no suggestion except to keep going back until one opens up. Seriously??? That was what we encountered when we returned from having dinner. Fortunately on our second trip back to the garage we found one available space and took it. Had that not happened, we would have had a car and literally no place to park it without danger of being towed. So after a sleepless night due to the heat and not wishing to take our car out for fear of not finding a parking place for the night, we decided to cut our losses and leave. Needless to say we will never return.

We celebrated our son's wedding and it was just beautiful The staff was great and accommodating and the venue was perfect. Our rooms were spacious and well equipped with everything necessary to celebrate. It was even more magical that we could view the event from our balcony.

We loved staying at The Linden Row. The location was superb, within walking distance to wonderful restaurants and sights. It possessed real southern charm with its lovely courtyard, where we found out Edgar Allen Poe played as a boy. In fact, the rooms have a book by Poe as part of the decor. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We have stayed here twice before. The hotel is in a decent location and superficially charming with a lot of potential, but not worth the money at close to $300 a night. The decor is faded and in need of sprucing up, air con was fiddly, and the elevator was not working. Customer service by the front desk employee was somewhat indifferent. On check in, we were greeted with, "As you know, the elevator is out." No we didn't know that, and our room was on the 3rd floor. Richmond is an interesting town but you can find better options than the LRI for lodging.

A charming boutique hotel in downtown Richmond. It was convenient to the Convention Center where we attended a conference as well as the state capitol building and the White House of the Confederacy museum. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is a short, convenient bus ride away and the buses in Richmond are FREE. There are many good dining options nearby.

Previous visitor. Booked an accessible room as no other rooms were available unless booked through third party. Considered upgrade to parlor suite but staff inferred it was fairly similar. My bad. I hadn't known at the time that the outside noise level was much greater but it had gotten late and I really wanted to start enjoying my visit. With this room directly above outdoor diners, coming and going felt intrusive each time they noticed. I was also surprised with the lack of room service on weekends. Previous visits were weekdays. I'm old and the bathroom lighting at the vanity (a single bulb with another single bulb overhead) did little to help me see in the mirror. I learned that the door mirror was more useful. Unfortunately I could see the wear and tear in the bath (wallpaper coming apart) and the room (bedspread with holes and worn carpet) did little to make me want to visit again. While I greatly appreciate the antiquity experience, this particular room just doesn't suffice- particularly with what I expected and what I paid for. Previous stay was in the main house and was exemplary - room and staff. That room did not appear to suffer from the indignitaries that this room did. Dined at the restaurant a couple of times. It was okay but with so many better restaurants within easy walking distance, it needs to try harder. Just my opinion.

Surrounded by history in the city, did not want to stay at a cookie cutter hotel. This hotel is steeped in history and charm! Unique and beautiful, with its own cat! The bartender made a perfect Manhattan. Room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed resting for our next adventure on the town. I highly recommend this hotel.

This was my second stay at the lovely Linden Row, and it surely won't be my last. As a fan of close-in Richmond attractions and historic architecture more generally, Linden Row offers everything that I could want in accommodations. That said, my stay on a Saturday night in early December raised new concerns that I feel need to be expressed, especially from a previous as well as likely future guest who is also accustomed to the necessary quirks of historic properties. My partner and I booked this stay as an opportunity to rendezvous with dear friends; they asked me to book their room at the same time, which I did, and then they paid for their own room upon check-in. I booked both rooms a couple of weeks earlier, moments apart and in the same way; both rooms were ground-floor Main House Rooms, advertised identically and also priced identically ($306 each, after taxes and fees, so not cheap but good for a special occasion, which this was). My partner's and my previous stay had been in one of the spectacular Parlour Suites, which we loved and hope to experience again someday; however, we recognized that Saturday's rooms would be of a different overall quality and size than the Parlour Suites, so our expectations were reasonable. Figuring that our party's two identically-priced and -described rooms booked basically at once would be similarly appointed to each other, save for the small inconsistencies typical of rooms in vintage properties, we all were surprised and disappointed to discover a significant difference between them. One room was in the front of the building, with two pleasantly-sized windows providing a garden view toward Franklin Street. This was lovely! The other room, however, was directly behind the first rather than also being street-facing, and contained one window with...a view of the interior corridor connecting all rooms on this floor. This was not at all lovely, and the result was that this window's curtains really couldn't be withdrawn at all without the room's privacy being totally compromised. I understand that some of Linden Row's rooms must open to interior corridors, given the inn's overall layout; what I don't understand is why these rooms aren't clearly advertised as having no views or natural light at all, why they aren't grouped separately on the booking page from those with proper windows and views, and why they aren't priced correspondingly lower than the other rooms on this floor with proper windows and views. I see that the booking page states that not all of the Main House Rooms receive significant natural light, but this statement really doesn't tell enough of the story, as the better room with its smallish English basement-style street-facing windows could honestly be described this way; to me, there is a big difference between rooms with two perfectly respectable if not huge windows and rooms effectively with no windows at all. If guests haven't stayed at Linden Row previously or don't otherwise have the ability to observe the discrepancy between Main House Rooms' window configurations as we did, then they may not know to feel disappointed by an interior corridor-facing room--but disappointed two members of our party most certainly were, especially for the two rooms being priced and listed exactly the same way. I hope that Linden Row will consider making the interior corridor-facing rooms' descriptions very clear on that subject and pricing them differently from the street-facing rooms. They are simply not of comparable quality. If this change isn't made, then in the future, if I consider booking one of these rooms, I will need to get hotel staff's advice on how to guarantee myself a street-facing room since the website on its own can't be trusted--and I strongly suggest that other ground-floor Main House room-shoppers do the same. Also, a minor quibble: while the actual booking page doesn't mention as much, the overview page describing all room types states that the "Main House Rooms...feature 12 ft ceilings," which the ground-floor rooms that we booked clearly do not. I didn't measure their height, but my own home has 12-foot ceilings and I can't imagine Linden Row's ground-floor rooms' ceilings being any higher than nine feet, which is a considerable difference from the advertised height. (Perhaps the taller ceiling height applies to Main House Rooms on upper floors, in addition to the Parlour Suites, or perhaps some Parlour Suite-specific text was mistakenly copied, but in any case clarity on the ground-floor rooms' ceiling height not being 12 feet or any other noteworthy height would be appreciated. I voice these concerns not out of a desire to be overly picky or petty but in the interest of helping a very special property remain categorically pleasing to its guests. I will note, too, that I received an automated email post-checkout inviting me to fill out a survey on my stay, which I did; the automated email also invited me to contact the manager with any concerns, so I took the liberty of emailing her much of what I have written here. Two weeks later, neither my survey response nor my person email have been acknowledged in any way, which I must say that I don't appreciate. I didn't request money back or similar; I'm just asking that the reality of the faulty advertising be noted and hopefully corrected (and if downward-adjusted listing prices for the inferior rooms aren't possible, then Linden Row can and should upward-adjust the listing prices for the better rooms--whatever is feasible for making a clear and necessary distinction between rooms that have multiple perfectly serviceable windows and rooms that, functionally speaking, have no windows at all) so that neither I nor other guests will be misled in the future.

A week before our stay, I emailed (on Nov 24th) the hotel to request a room on a higher floor, away from the elevator, due to our participation in the US Fencing Tournament and being light sleepers. I followed up with a phone call on Tuesday, November 28th, reiterating this request. I also made sure to arrive just before 3pm, the start of check-in time, to increase our chances of securing a preferred room. Despite these efforts, we were assigned Room #116 on the first floor, close to the reception area which resulted in noticeable noise. Additionally, the room was below street level, and the constant hum of the air conditioning unit right outside our window was quite intrusive. I did request one more time at the front desk without any success. Furthermore, during our stay, I requested cleaning and turndown service. I was informed by the front desk that such services are not provided on Fridays and Sundays, coincidentally aligning with our request being made on a Friday. I plan on not stay there again.

I really liked the hotel. There was an issue with the cable but the desk attendant quickly came to resolve the issue. It's larger than a bed-and-breakfast, but it still had that same field, which I liked. The rooms are large and all contain fridge Raiders and microwave, which is a real plus. I would definitely stay here again.

I have been staying at the Linden Row Inn since the late 80's when my daughter went to college at VCU. The staff have always been wonderful, the rooms are spacious and the location is so close to so many attractions. I just recently stayed there with family members and they also thought it was a great place to stay.

LOVED this spot. Historic exterior; well-appointed rooms; friendly staff; awesome location in downtown Richmond. Very clean, comfortable, great amenities. Easy walking distance to many restaurants, bars, places to see, etc. Jaynique in particular took great care of me when I called in to make my initial resi. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay at the Linden Row Inn. Myra and Brianna at the front desk were both very pleasant and helpful. This historic property was wonderfully cozy on a very rainy night. The beds were comfortable. The courtyard garden is a lovely spot for a small intimate wedding and indeed one was happening as we checked in. Offsite parking really isn't a problem. I wish a hot breakfast had been available but that wasn't an option at the time of our stay.

A block of old row houses from the mid-1800s didn't sound very appealing to me. I was very pleasantly surprised. The check-in desk is next to the restaurant and a sitting room where you can relax or wait for your car service. The rooms held their historic charm but were also modern with large TVs, refrigerator, strong locks, large bathrooms and plenty of hot water. Outside on the porch we're rocking chairs to enjoy at night and the hotel is an easy walk to restaurants and small local stores to grab snacks and beverages.

The Linden Row Inn is a gem in downtown Richmond. The cleanliness and quality of a stay in a cozy Carriage House Room can't be beat. The Courtyard outside the room is a nice place to sit, read, ponder the life of Edgar Allen Poe, and relax before heading out into the City again. The staff are wonderful and attentive. But, a small note about room for improvement- from an environmental impact perspective, there is uh... Single use plastic... plastic and paper cups in the room. There is a fridge in the room which implies you might have your own food and beverages- I guess you need to bring your own wine glass. And breakfast- hot, tasty and well -prepared but served in a styrofoam box, juice in single-use plastic, coffee in a paper cup. So, I feel like I have made a substantial contribution to Richmond's nearest landfill, and it's not a good feeling. We have to do better. I will always come back because the Inn is great and the staff are awesome. I'll be bringing my own wine glasses and coffee cups. And, just to be fair, dinner at the Parterre was served with "real" plates and utensils, so that's good.

The convention was ok, I can't say enough about staying at Linden Row Inn. I was expecting a walk and it was almost a mile to the convention center, but it was quiet and clean and most streets were tree covered and residential. The room was a grand suite 12+ plus ceiling, enormous bed, but it was a room I could have stayed in in a plantation on the James. Two fireplaces, I didn't care that they didn't work. a bureau and a buffet, sofa, tv[who cared for that] and wooden floors with rugs. Coming home every time I visit Richmond. I was missing seeing the cat a couple of days who was put in an office since one of the other guests was allergic. But on the day I left the gentleman at the desk let me see and pick her up. Meows!

THis place is average. It's a cool building with an interesting history and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I've stayed there twice now, a year apart, and the service isn't the best. We came from out of town and had many questions and wanted guidance. Staff seemed too laid back, leaving the front desk unattaended a lot, not answering questions with much detail. The second time we stayed there it smelled so bad when we walked--when we arrived and left ou=r things and again when we returned from the theater to go to bed. The next morning was better. There is no breakfast/restaurant--it is attached and not connected to the hotel. Parking is also confusing. I want to stay somewhere where the people who tend the front desk are attentive and looking out for us. Two times is enough to know I'd rather stay somewhere else next time. It's pretty!

Love place- the atmosphere is so relaxing with the courtyard, and the wonderful staff and each room is unique. Unlike any other hotel in the area-there is a real sense of history when you walk through the door. I highly recommend it!

We stayed in a parlor suite for my daughter's wedding weekend. It was amazing!! Could not have asked for a better experience! Alexa was our contact person for guest accommodations and she was outstanding to work with!! Will definitely return for future visits!

Linden Row was a very interesting stay. It was nice to experience a row house. The room was quiet. I loved the rocking chairs on the back porch. I sat and watched weddings below. The location is close to everything. We walked everywhere . There are restaurants close by. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom nice and updated. There is not a breakfast, but a restaurant downstairs. We ate dinner there. It was very good. The parking garage is close which is nice. I would recommend this stay. There are steps to the room. There is not a way to get around it. They are row houses. There is an elevator, but you still have to use stairs in addition. I did enjoy the stay

Reasonably priced for downtown Richmond, in a historic building with spacious rooms that feature high ceilings and recently remodeled bathrooms. You can pull into dedicated spaces to check in and unload your luggage, and then follow the easy instructions to a convenient parking garage that costs only $7 for 24 hours. The neighborhood is quiet, yet within walking distance of good restaurants and coffee shops. Upper floors have better views and are worth the extra money. The windows do not open.

We had a great time staying at the Linden Row Inn for our anniversary. Check-in was a breeze as we pulled up right in front following the parking directions sent to us earlier that day. For an area of town with sometimes iffy parking this was a big help especially since we were travelling with a baby and all our baby gear. We were greeted by a super friendly staff and adorable cat Annabelle and got into our room quickly. Our room was beautiful with bay windows overlooking the street below and a cool historic vibe. The staff prepared an anniversary gift that took it to the next level. Bed was super comfortable. Throughout our stay the staff -especially Libbie - continued to go above and beyond to help us enjoy our stay at this boutique hotel while keeping it convenient for our family. Thank you we will definitely stay at Linden Row Inn in the future and we travel to Richmond frequently.

I enjoyed my one-night stay at the Linden Row. The gracefully restored building is an enclave in downtown Richmond, and definitely a throwback in time. The rooms could use more electrical outlets, so plan accordingly. Otherwise, it is a functional historic hotel with excellent amenities

We spent a weekend at the Linden Row Inn in Room 119. It was disappointing to walk into the room and find that the toilet seat was broken. I immediately notified the front desk and they sent someone in to fix it within a half hour. That night, when I climbed into bed, I realized that the white comforter was stained and promptly removed it. It was too late to have that addressed, so I waited until the morning. By mid-afternoon, a clean comforter was sent to our room. Having to deal with two issues within 8 hours of arrival was not something that we expected at the Linden Row Inn. While the room was large, it did not have a window facing outside, so that was a bit claustrophobic. In addition, the usual bathroom amenities that one expects were not available. The pros of this stay was that it was close to the activities we had planned for the weekend. It was also around the corner from Perly's, which is a terrific and, justifiably, popular delicatessen. The day following my return home I received an email from the General Manager, with a brief survey along with the following statement: "If there was an aspect of your stay which you would prefer to discuss in person, please contact me directly at the email address or phone number below." I wrote Julie Carlson, telling her the gist of what is in this review. This was a week ago. Since I've yet to hear a response or acknowledgment from her, I'm assuming that customer service is not a high priority in her job. There are many other hotels in Richmond. I'd think twice about staying here.

We're so glad the Richmond Folk Festival started up post-pandemic and we got to come back to stay at the Linden Row again. We love the ambience of this historic building, the high ceilings, the beautiful wood floors and furniture, the charming irregular layout, the comfortable beds and baths, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Their restaurant is up and running again. It smelled great, but we went out for breakfast at the fabulous Perly's around the corner both mornings, which worth the wait in line.

More like an AirBnb than an Inn. Absolutely no service. Check-in perfectly nice and efficient and that was about it. We stayed in a suite, which was very spacious, but maybe putting a little more into the room might have made it more comfortable. The mattress was old and too soft. My husband spilled something on the sheet our first morning there and when we left the hotel we asked that our linens be changed. There is absolutely no housekeeping services at the Inn and were told they'd leave a sheet outside the room. Now in all fairness I may have missed the memo, but if I hadn't I surely wouldn't have stayed here. We were told that morning no housekeeping, we will not even come in your room while you're staying here!? It's 2022, other hotels are getting back to normal, and for an average rate of $350 per night in November in Richmond that's not inexpensive. At 1:20a.m.. on our last night someone was banging on our door screaming “security, open up!” That went on for about 2-3 minutes. I called the front desk and was told there is no security, we'll check it out. We mentioned this when we departed the next morning and the woman behind the desk really couldn't have cared less, she said it was probably some drunk idiot! Seriously do not stay here, there are many other choices in Richmond.

Linden Row is a special place to stay. History, comfort and great location all in one. Rooms are clean, spacious and well maintained and the front desk staff were all super helpful and pleasant. We rented a suite for our daughter and her husband's wedding weekend-a gorgeous whole townhouse floor full of antiques. Some of the best photos of my daughter in her wedding dress were at the windows in the suite. We will definitely be back!

The Linden Row Inn was a wonderful two day respite for my trip to Richmond. The hotel is older and filled with charm, and the room was HUGE. Check-in was a breeze, and while the parking situation was slightly awkward, it wasn't an issue at all. The hotel is in a great location, and if you like walking, places like the Civil War Museum and the White House of the Confederacy are within a healthy walking distance.

The hotel is a very cool space. It is nicely decorated in the lobby area. I expected the rooms to be old, but some of the furniture in the room was dirty looking. With that being said, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Hotel staff was very nice and accommodating.

We stayed at the Linden Row again, and it it still as good as it was decades ago when we first tried it. We stay in one of their very smallest rooms every time. Edgar Allan Poe played in the gardens that use to be here. Wrote "To Helen" at Linden Row. Will ALWAYS consider Linden Row--NOT nevermore choose it. Nice, cordial receptionist at no extra charge.

Our girls basketball team stayed at the linden row for a tournament. The staff here are extremely helpful and friendly. There was an issue with the ac in my room and the manager immediately moved us to another room. All rooms are very quaint with that old world charm. Clean rooms that are huge. The food at the restaurant was delicious. Walking distance to the convention center which was very handy. I definitely recommend staying here. Our team had a great time.

My daughter and I spent one night here while attending a show at the Carpenter Center. The location is perfect, within walking distance to our show and plenty of restaurants. Valet parking is not currently available but I had no difficulty finding street parking, plus there is a nearby garage. All employees were friendly and professional. Our room in the main building was lovely, clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. The Inn and gardens were unique and special, not like a cookie cutter chain.

Super friendly staff upon arrival. Great parking for only $7 a day a block away. Cool old space. Super clean and comfortable! Would totally stay again. Great area for walking to good eats and theaters. It was a nice change from big chain hotels. We enjoyed sitting on rocking chairs outside our room on a porch that overlooked a nice little courtyard. Good spot for sipping cocktails!

The rooms are HUGE and stocked with all the things you need. The classic 'old' Inn charm outweighs the slickness of corporate options. The location is great, close to highways and such, but in a very quiet and peaceful corner of the city. There are quite a few good restaurants close by, and many more that deliver. The staff was very helpful and very polite, the prices were very reasonable, and overall I had an excellent experience.

My wife and I stayed here one night during April 2022. The building is historic and in a pretty quiet part of town. Our room was pleasant and clean but could have used some updating as things were a bit worn, although the bathroom seemed to have been updated more recently. Parking is down the street a block or so in a parking garage, so factor that into your plans if staying here. From the Inn it's possible to walk to the American Civil War Museum at Historic Tredegar, if you are reasonably fit. The Parterre Restaurant inside the hotel was very good and the beer was excellent. Other restaurants that we walked to were Kat's (breakfast), Perly's Diner (breakfast), and Penny Lane Pub (dinner). All were really nice. Other than needing a bit of a "refresh", this was a very nice experience.

Lovely historic hotel! Well kept ! Close to many things downtown. We used the free street parking. The wine and pimento cheese at the hotel restaurant were great. Lovely staff at the front desk at both the morning and evening. Very clean hotel. We were two moms and our teen age daughters in town for a concert. There is some Edgar Allen Poe history tied to the hotel. He played on the grounds as a child. I added a photo of the parlor near the check in desk.

I would like to commend the management staff at Linder Row in addition to the cool historic building and rooms. Richmond has a very laid back diverse vibe and this Inn delivers. The buildings, attached row houses, are historic and lovely with a charm of yesteryear, but with modern bathrooms and fittings. There is a lovely brick courtyard to further your relaxation experience. It is the staff that I offer the gold star to. We came to the hotel and stayed a few hours. Shortly after our arrival, we received a call that a family crisis was at hand and we needed to head home. We told the woman at the front desk that we needed to go. We needed to make haste and did not have time for much else. Within a few days, I received a refund, not fir the entire booking, but for a large portion of it. We were there for a few hours. I absolutely did not expect this, but was pleasantly surprised. Kudos to a management staff such as this - at a time when businesses are hurting due to COVID. Our room was full of character (some may feel that is a nice was of saying something is old) and historic, but with all the modern comforts. Spa style bath to boot. Really a very lovely Inn on many counts. We will be back - as this Inn excels at customer service - which seem to be a dying art overall. Thank you.

We stayed three nights on the recommendation of a local friend. Overall we enjoyed our stay but there were definitely some pros & cons. Pros: The courtyard is lovely. We were upgraded to an ENORMOUS room. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. It was a short walk to some good restaurants. Cons: There was a wedding in the courtyard one of our nights. Between the DJ and the gaggle of teenage girls staying at the hotel screaming to every song it was VERY loud after a long day. Luckily it ended by 9:30 or 10. Parking was one block away. Easy enough for us but it could be an issue for guests with mobility issues. Some front desk staff was friendly and welcoming, others not so much. The restaurant opened late (for us) but was closed mid-day when we hoped for a quick snack. There was a keurig coffee maker in the room but was tucked away in the armoire, making it difficult to use. As I said, we enjoyed our stay but would probably consider other options if ever in town again.

Probabily 3.5 would be more appropriate but unfortunately it is not possible to use half points. On the positive side we have a good position and a friendly staff. The hotel is charming and the common areas are very nice. On the other side our room needed a renovation despite not having any particular negative point and being quite spacious. Overall we enjoyed our stay and with no doubt our experience was good, but not enough to say it was very good.

When you stay at this type of property, there can be a fine line between historic and shabby…and sadly, our room at the Linden Row was on the shabby side. The dust ruffle didn't fit the bed, the drapes were musty, and overall, not at all what we expected based on the photos. Pluses: the public areas were nice, and the bathroom had been upgraded and was modern.

Great overnight at the Linden Row. Drinks in the adjoining bar before dinner were as hospitable as was the Linden Row. Have stayed here numerous times and it is the best. Do yourself a favor and stay here.

I stayed at Linden Row twice, about a year apart. The first visit was wonderful! I had a room in the main building, nicely furnished in an eclectic style, quiet, large, and comfortable. The second visit was awful. I was in a room in a back building with a VERY noisy HVAC system. No sleep. A maintenance person agreed that it was noisy but said nothing could be done. Front desk refused to give me another room (it was late at that point). On checkout, I was told the manager was “unavailable “. She never contacted me, even after several phone calls and emails. In the reviews, I see that I'm not the only one with this experience. I booked a room recently (Jan 2022) with a message laying out my unhappiness and a request that they contact me regarding my room. A week later, nothing. I canceled the reservation. I dislike soulless, corporate hotel chains but I will not tolerate the terrible customer service of the Linden Row. Highly recommend avoiding this potentially excellent hotel if they continue to offer such pathetic service.

Linden Row Inn is a sweet space to stay in Richmond hitting all the marks: historic, fabulous room, great location and stellar staff. Alexia at the front desk was so accommodating from parking to restaurant suggestions. Would definitely stay at this charmer again.

I had an airbnb reserved.. When I got there after a flight delay it was almost midnight. The code they gave me to get in the door did not work. No one answered the phone. After curling up on a tiny footstool in the hallway for half an hour I gave in and searched for for another spot nearby. Half a mile away was Linden Row. For someone showing up after 1 AM I was treated so kindly. And oh my gosh what a wonderful place! Not only did I have a warm and cozy bed, I found that I had stumbled onto a historic gem. Next time I'm in Richmond to visit my son I will be back!

We decided to book Linden Row as not only our wedding venue but also the room block for our out of town guests to stay for the weekend. Our guests enjoyed the convenience of staying at the venue but they also could not have been happier with the unique accommodations and the staff. Our guests were gushing all weekend about how quaint, cute, and warm the hotel and guest rooms were. They commented on how they loved the antique decor throughout and the ability to access their private room at any moment. Myself and the bridal party got ready in the Mary Wingfield Scott suite which is so big, so so big and beautifully decorated, the photos of us ladies getting ready came out so amazing. The guys and the grooms party stayed in a more masculine suite that was the same size as my suite but decorated more to the guys look and feel to get ready. Then the night of the wedding the best man stayed in that room which was a suggestion from the hotel staff which worked out very well. The hotel staff were welcoming and informative. Our guests commented on how easy the check in process was, how easily they found parking whether on the street or in a self parking deck 1 block away. The housekeeping staff did such a great job cleaning what is clearly an older building (but renovated with modern ammenities of course) and the ownership has obviously lovingly keept up with the original architecture throughout. We enjoyed the in house restaurant, Parterre, for weekend brunch which was delicious, it was just the perfect weekend and we wouldn't change a thing.

We came to Linden Row for a family wedding and could not have had a better time. The staff was so accommodating, especially at the front desk. There was a reservation mixup for a member of the wedding party's family and they bent over backwards to make sure everything worked out. We ate an excellent dinner in the restaurant the night before the wedding and the wedding reception in the courtyard was intimate but never felt crowded. The inn was conveniently located and parking was not a problem. Our room was large and comfortable. The public parlors were lovely and great for small gatherings of family and friends. We would definitely stay here again.

Located in downtown Richmond within easy walking distance of several historic sites and restaurants. The hotel has a 30 minute parking zone directly in front of the entrance. After that you have the option of a covered car park just a block away or a surface lot about the same distance . The inn has its own restaurant but it is not open for breakfast. There are a few coffee shops and other breakfast places not very far away. Our room was on the second floor (elevator available) but there were 3 short steps involved to access the room. The room was average sized for 2 double beds and well lit. There was only a single nightstand between the two beds with a lamp and clock that had several power and USB ports. There was also a dresser and a large table for makeup/work with power but no USB connections. The room has a microwave, refrigerator and flatscreen. A wall thermostat controls the climate. Closet size is adequate. The bathroom has a large sink with ample storage space, a built in hair dryer and a shower/tub combo with a low step in height. Supplied toiletries were high end. The grounds and common areas of the inn are charming; supposedly Edgar Allen Poe visited here as a child and played in the gardens. WiFi is strong. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Currently due to COVID maid service is upon request only.

My husband & I loved this inn. We had a queen room in the main house, which had 3 windows in it (giving us many views of the city). The neighborhood was quaint & easily walkable, and parking was available on the street. The front desk staff and manager made recommendations for restaurants when we asked. We were primarily visiting Civil War sites but also went to the Capitol. We'd like to come back and look into more places and plan to stay at the Linden Row. I hadn't been in Richmond in 45 years and look forward to another visit.

Manager and front desk staff were wonderfully accommodating when we mistakenly showed up a night early for our reservation. We were so lucky that there was still room at the inn! We enjoyed our beautiful room with its sparkling clean bathroom. The staff was also very helpful in recommending restaurants within easy walking distance from the inn. Would definitely stay there again.

Unique building, boutique hotel. Staff was very knowledgeable of the area & very friendly & pleasant. They were very professional, as well. I would stay there again. The room was clean, nice size & had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, best night sleep in a while.

First, let me state upfront that this is an old building in an old neighborhood, and anyone expecting modern design aught look elsewhere. That said, I had a perfectly fine stay at Linden Row. The room itself was larger than any hotel room I have ever stayed in. It was equipped with a coffee maker, an iron and ironing board, and a mini-fridge that I made no use of. The water pressure was excellent (a personal pet peeve of mine) and the bed was well-appointed and comfortable. The alarm clock was equipped with a USB port, making it quite convenient. I did not use any of the amenities, as I was travelling on business and pretty much just used the hotel to sleep and keep my things, but I enjoyed the overall atmosphere. The staff was courteous when I had call for them. The parking is mildly inconvenient, but that is an issue of the neighborhood and not the hotel. I was absolutely content with my stay at the Linden and will stay again when duty calls.

The Linden Row Inn is a must if you have a night or more in Richmond. The rooms are large and the furnishings put you back to a time of elegance and grandeur. The gardens are beautiful and sitting there with a glass of wine is a lovely respite. The Inn is in the Art District so there is lots to do. We loved that we could walk to many restaurants and galleries.

First, parking is terrible. Website does not provide helpful information regarding where to park. When we called before arrival to ask about parking the information given was confusing and inaccurate. Check in was easy - staff courteous and professional. The minute we opened the door to our room we could tell it was not cleaned properly. Most alarming was the filthy bedding. It looked like it was stained with blood/bodily fluids. They clearly do not clean bedding between guests and from the condition our bedding was in it looked as if it might not have been cleaned for quite some time. We had to ask for clean bedding and when a gentlemen came to the room with the clean bedding he told us that they had been very busy. That was the reason given for it's condition. We bought this to staff attention when we checked out and were given 30 percent off of rate. A few days later I received a survey from the property and offered the same information as in this review. Offered to send pictures we had taken. After receiving a standard computer generated response I emailed the manager and asked for the contact information for their corporate office. She did not respond. I contacted her again about a week later asking again for that contact info and to date have not heard from her. I found contact information for their corporate offices and sent them an email describing the condition of the room and disgusting bedding, again offering to send pictures so they could see exactly what we were complaining about. We were given extra points and an apology but no interest in the pictures. I emailed them back with the photos anyway. This was the most disgusting hotel room we have ever stayed in and we have been traveling for decades! If we had heard from the property manager with an apology that would have gone a long way. The fact that she clearly was not interested and has not contacted us to date even after the corporate office advised it would be brought to her attention is inexcusable. We will not stay again, but I would advise anyone that does to check their bedding very carefully.

We had high hopes based on many positive Trip Advisor reviews, and figured the handful of critical reviews had to be outliers. Expectations further heightened by fact that our nightly room rate was $360), more than you'd pay most nights at the historic and lovely Jefferson Hotel a few blocks away (a 5 star hotel). What we found: pealing paint, obvious water damage, stained carpet, broken sink stopper, broken toilet seat, broken make up mirror, needed to move a mini fridge just to plug in the coffee pot (revealing multiple appliances plugged into a single old extension cord (fire hazard?), no parking (even though website promised valet parking), empty beer bottles at hotel front entrance, etc. Still utterly stunned they charged us $360/night; this 3 star hotel shouldn't charge more than $100/night based on our room. When asked at check out next morning how our experience was, we explained the above to the front desk clerk, who just said sorry and wished us a safe trip home. Do not recommend this property, will never stay here again.

The hotel is very charming and was a nice intro to Richmond. Not your cookie cutter hotel. Our room very very spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely choose this hotel again.

We returned to Richmond to go to the VMFA and to do some touring. We stayed again at the Linden Row Hotel. It is still a perfect location to get to all the sites. Very helpful staff. Restaurant on site but many small good restaurants nearby. Very friendly folks and they want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Will stay there again next time in Richmond.

The room was beautiful, spacious, and had a lovely ambience. The bedding and linens were very comfortable. Hotel staff was friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. The public parking lot is a block away, which was not a problem for us and there is an area in front of the hotel door for loading and unloading. Although there is an elevator to the fourth floor, the design of the hotel requires walking down then up a half flight of stairs to get to the room which is inconvenient if you are carrying luggage.

I have been staying at the Linden Row for 3 years now, generally every other week and sometimes more frequently. The stays have been consistently excellent - a long time staff that makes you feel at home, terrific location right downtown near restaurants, the museums. The rooms are definitely special - no cookie cutter size and furniture here. 10' plus ceilings, huge windows including rooms with bay windows. A courtyard dating back to the buildings origins with tables to sit out having your morning coffee or an evening libation or just a good book read. Still waiting for Parterre to re-open but right around the corner(s) is Lilli Pearls, Rappahannock, Perly's, Max's, Tarrants, Quirk, Bar Solita, Nama's , Secret Sandwich ,, La Grotto, Valentino's (wonderful pizza!) - do I go on? Cary Street is just a couple blocks. If you need a refrigerator ask when you book - not every room has one. Oh and the front sitting room has a rotating art show!

While we only stayed at the Linden Hill Inn one night, we had expected something special from the Garden Room we requested. It was a small modest room with the closet door so difficult to open we had to call the manager. The parking situation was horrible. We were advised that we should not park on the street as we would be towed, so we moved our car to the recommended garage but noticed that other guests remained parked on the street near the hotel with no consequences. We would not recommend this hotel.

I was shocked to see the difference between the photos online and what our room actually looked like. We had booked a double room (2 queens), and while it was a large room with two queens, it was dark and smelled as if someone had just sprayed a bunch of air freshener to cover the stench. The carpet was stained. The furnishings were in bad shape and chipped. And when the AC came on, it rattled and poured damp pot-smelling air into the room, despite the claim that it is a non-smoking hotel. The large curtained sealed window looked onto a dark inner hallway (does that meet fire code??) where you could hear everything passersby said and the rumble of their suitcases going by at all hours of the night. The ceiling tiles in the bathroom looked like they were about to fall onto our heads. When I complained about the room, they told me the hotel was fully booked and that I could speak with the front desk person in the morning. (Needless to say, that person didn't help.) Having driven all day with my daughter and arriving around 9pm, we were quite seriously considering forfeiting the hotel fee and leaving. Maybe not a safe move for two women at night to be looking for a new hotel, so instead we woke up early and checked out before 7am. I can't say anything good about this hotel.

Upon arrival the front desk was extremely nice & respectful! Everything was very clean and felt welcoming. We got to the room and the room and bathroom were extremely clean. The beds were comfortable. The restaurant attached has delicious beignets! I would love to stay here again on our next girls trip & recommend to friends coming to the area!

Arrived late- easy check in- the property is unique- I was in a bungalow sort of setup, great amenities-. Great location in downtown Richmond. Checkout was a breeze- I left a water bottle I the fridge and housekeeping saved it so I could swing by and pick it up! Thank you for a great stay, Linden Row Inn.

Convenient location, great staff, beautiful rooms and gardens. Just loved everything about it. Visited to familiarize ourselves with the area as our youngest daughter is entering VCU Grad School in a few weeks. Very pleased with the area and that we discovered what I am sure will be our go-to accommodation we come for visits.

My husband and I stayed at Linden Row Inn and couldn't love it more! Staff were friendly, our room was huge (with a fireplace), and clean. It was more affordable than hotels in the area and it was so much nicer than a standard hotel. Parking was easy on the street but they also had valet. We also felt safe in this area walking around at night. Stay at Linden Row Inn and you will not regret it!

I saw this hotel come up in searches a few times, but I was a bit leery. This weekend I was looking for something a little different, and boy did I find it. I was given a garden room, so it was outside of the hotel structure. I had to walk through a beautiful courtyard where people were out enjoying dinner and drinks and found my way to a quaint little cottage type room. Wow small, it had everything I needed and it really gave the feel of being in a B&B instead of being in a hotel room. If I had known, I would have made sure to have enough time to be able to sit out and have dinner and drinks like everyone else was doing. I got takeout for dinner from the restaurant, but I did manage to have breakfast in the courtyard the next morning. The food was excellent as was the stay.

Great staff, very clean, charming hotel in downtown Richmond. It is very close to great restaurants--walking distance to Perly's. Loved the history of the hotel and the unique architecture. Next time we will stay in a parlor room but our room was cozy with a comfortable bed. Will definitely stay there again.

Beautiful historic hotel with large, charming and comfortable rooms. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I also enjoyed the rocking chairs on a wide porch opening onto a private courtyard. There was no on-site parking but the neighborhood seemed safe and we had no trouble finding street parking close by.

When I arrived, the room I booked wasn't available. They, like so many other places, are working with a limited staff. However, everyone went above and beyond to accommodate my requests, especially Banika - she was fabulous! She was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I highly recommend the period-themed parlor suites - they are amazing. The rooms are quiet - no noise from other guest rooms or the street. The beds were very comfortable, and the parlor room was quite homey.

Linden Row was wonderful. It was a perfect weekend getaway. Location is great and lots to do within walking distance. We will definitely stay there again. Be sure to Check out the I site restaurant…. Very good.

We were in town for daughters wedding at Amber Grove. Most family members stayed at Linden Row and could not have been more pleased with our 3 day stay. Staff was outstanding - courteous, professional and responsive. Would most highly recommend this historic and perfectly located hotel.

I knew I was booking an older property but I usually like hotels with character. Check in was at 3. We walked in at 2:00 and asked if our room was ready. The woman at reception said that NO rooms would be ready until 3. I asked if she could at least check, because certainly SOME rooms must be ready. She just restated that rooms are not ready until 3. She made zero attempt to accommodate us. When we finally checked in we noticed that an event was being set up in the courtyard outside the room. Luckily we had evening plans and were out until 9:45, but if anyone had been trying to get some sleep or do work it would have been impossible. There was a DJ and booming sound system until 10pm. You would think that the hotel would mention such a thing upon booking. In addition, air conditioning was limited to max cooling of 71 degrees. We actually had to move rooms because the system stopped working altogether. The rooms are large but smelled musty and mattress was terrible. Shower and bath products were very nice though.

The building is interesting, the rooms are spacious and nice, the facilities are in good order, and the staff are helpful and competent. I imagine that weekday visitors would need to use a public parking garage (there is one within a block and reasonably priced), but since we arrived late at night and left well before businesses opened we had no trouble parking on the street. I think their pricing is normally mid-range (not positive about that) but we got a very reasonable rate for a Sunday night stay.

Let me admit that we did not read the COVID protocols thoroughly before booking. Had we, we would not have stayed. Let me warn you what is missing due to COVID (and NOT reflected in any sort of price reduction). Rooms are not serviced during your stay- extra coffee; towels have to be expressly requested. There is no valet parking. You are left to your chances on the street or in a nearby garage. There is a tiny, non-affiliated restaurant on premises, but it doesn't have breakfast. Make reservations early, because walk-ins are few and far between. No bottled waters provided, no makeup mirrors (unless requested). I would expect that a hotel of a certain price point would anticipate the needs of their guests versus having them request service: we had exactly 2 bath, hand and face towels; we had exactly 2 coffee pods. If you know you're not going to service the room, at least leave enough amenities for the known length of stay. The room was large, and the furnishings very tasteful. The TV was great. The bedding is hypo-allergenic: sheets were scratchy; pillows were foam (down was not available). The mattress was old school, the kind where everything bounces if anyone moves. The A/C cannot be adjusted below 70 degrees. It was in the mid 90's during our stay, and we prefer a cooler room at night. The toilet had a cracked seat. I couldn't stop thinking of germs lurking in that large crack. A towel bar was hanging loosely off the wall behind the door. The bathroom was about as nice as you'd find at a renovated Holiday Inn. We had one of the 7 suites, so windows on both sides of the building: the courtyard-side window always had lighting on outside, and the curtains didn't block it all. This is right next to the bed. We spent about $1k on something that looked cute on the surface, but didn't deliver on the hype. Never again. Not sure I'd pay half that.

I have stayed at Linden Row over the past 10years as my go to hotel in Richmond. I travel the world for business and pleasure and find the LR perfect. Great location good price good food..Anyone can stay at a Hyatt or Hilton....so discover more and try the LR. You will be very pleased you did!

The location can't be beat. It's quite central making it walking distance to many places in the downtown core including the Capitol District, Court End, Shockhoe Bottom, Jackson Ward, even Oregon Hill and the Hollywood Cemetery. There are many restaurants nearby, access to the main bus line, easy access to the pay-bikes and pay-scooters (head south one block on 1st). I wouldn't suggest walking to further flung locations like the VMFA, Carytown or Scott's Addition, but they're quick to get to by car. Fitting in with the history of Richmond, the rooms are furnished with period pieces that add to the ambience. Given the layout, I suspect many of the rooms are unique shapes and sizes so your mileage may vary but I was quite surprised at how large and spacious my room was. It was nicely decorated and had a large flat-screen TV and a small bar fridge. The property has a nice courtyard which was used by many to eat to-go orders (as still some restaurants had limited seating or only did to-go). The onsite restaurant Parterre had recently reopened for dinner. For breakfast, you can try Perly's right around the corner although get there early to avoid the hour-long wait. Due to covid, there was no valet service. Conveniently just on 2nd there was a covered parking structure with $7/day parking and your car was less than 90 seconds away so easy to get to. The shuttle service also discontinued. The hotel made mention of gym access at the YMCA that was very nearby but that appeared to also be suspended. In the event you want to explore the history of Richmond, there are many self-guided walks you can do to various neighborhoods. You'll need to search around online as I'm not allowed to include the link in my review!

We slept well, were very comfortable in our large 4th floor room, and found the neighborhood convenient and accessible. No housekeeping or valets due to COVID but we had everything we needed. Parking around the corner was convenient too. Really loved Parterre restaurant on ground floor too. Nice, friendly staff added a perfect touch to our two-night stay. Just wished weather had been warmer so we might have enjoyed beautiful patios and gardens

Now that (some) COVID restrictions have been eased I am back to spending time at my favorite Richmond haunt - the Linden Row Inn! Staff as gracious as ever, rooms as pleasant to be in and the location - as they say in real estate location location location. And with spring here what can beat a beautiful courtyard to sit back in and relax after a hard days work.

Very convenient to restaurants, museums. Nice to have a good restaurant on property. Outside area to go and relax. Room was clean and well appointed. So glad we found this hotel! Will stay here next trip to Richmond.

Last night on our mini tour of Virginia. Charming structure with a lovely parlor in which to wait(up to an hour per report of fellow quests) to check into your room. Relaxing courtyard in which to enjoy a late afternoon snack and drink if you had a reservation (!). The room was delightful with a large sitting area and period furniture. The mattress was in need of replacement. We were worried about our car since no valet parking and parts of the surrounding neighborhood seems a bit dodgy. Overall a pleasant stay but lacking the conveniences and amenities of more than 3 stars.

Attended a family wedding hosted at the hotel. Virtually all guests were from out of town and stayed at the hotel. Everyone raved about the character of the hotel, the cleanliness and decor of the rooms (each room unique) and the helpfulness of the staff. We definitely recommend this hotel, particularly if you are looking for something with the charm of yester-year.

We had a great, long-weekend stay at Linden Row while in Richmond for a friend's wedding. The hotel was convenient to restaurants, museums, and recreation opportunities, as well as the church and rehearsal outing venues. The property itself was clean and well-kept. Our king room in the main house was quite large and was well-appointed. I wish that we could have increased the air conditioning a bit, but older buildings sometimes have constraints in that realm. The 12-foot ceilings more than made up for it. We will definitely consider staying at Linden Row again if we find ourselves in Richmond in the future.

I highly recommend Linden Row Inn. We stayed for a family wedding and were so happy the way it worked out, Even with COVID, We were able to use the courtyard areas to visit with the family. There was no daily housekeeping but the front desk was able to accommodate our needs

Loved staying in this unique style of hotel. It's not super fancy but the room was spacious and clean, and it had all the amenities we needed for a long holiday weekend in RVA. Also a great location, and really friendly, helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again. PS be sure to check out the cool local artwork in the common area --it is powerful.

I have now stayed at Linden Row Inn 3 different times when visiting Richmond for work and for fun, and I absolutely love it. The rooms are spacious and super clean, the staff are so friendly and welcoming, and the courtyard area is a perfect space for reading a book or having a cup of coffee in the morning. It is truly a special gem in Richmond.

We booked this room at the last minute and were so very impressed. Great location, interesting decor, competent, caring staff and large, clean rooms. Highly recommend. Don't miss breakfast around the corner at Pearly's Deli.

Love this charming, historic hotel. It is beautiful, clean, with lots of personality and a good location. Stayed here on business for a convention center event and also to do some college touring. Perfect for both. We will be back!

We stayed in the double room with a parlor and a bedroom. Be aware that this is a very old hotel that has been renovated but somehow, it still feels old. The bed was fine, the pillows not very comfortable. The toilet ran on and off all night, no bottled water (will cost you $1 to get one), no coffee/tea machine and an expensive price point.

I chose this property over other brands because of its proximity to downtown and its history. The stay exceeded my expectations! Due to renovation in the garden area, I was upgraded to a parlor room. It was exceptionally clean, comfortable and spacious. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful with directions and dining recommendations. On street parking is safe and free on weekends. It's walking distance to the Capitol and the James River park. I can't wait to come back and try the restaurant when it reopens.

We spent a weekend in downtown Richmond for a quick getaway. We chose Linden Row Inn because of its location, its historic character and affiliation with Best Western Rewards. The property is gorgeous and within walking district of historic Jackson Ward. The rooms are huge and well appointed and comfortable. I'm not sure I've stayed in a larger room in a hotel. We'd definitely stay here again if we ever went back to Richmond.

Linden Row Inn, in the heart of Richmond, is a welcoming, stylish, comfortable & convenient hotel. Stella's grocery and Perly's Deli Restaurant are around the corner. A quick walk down the hill brings you to a magnificent portion of the James River. There you can access the Belle Isle Suspension Bridge, the North Bank Trail head and walking trails along the James. The is also where the American Civil War Museum is located. Linden Row Inn, a lovely place to stay, shall be my go-to whenever I am in Richmond!

I gave it three stars because it is only average for what one expects when paying such prices. It has a nice courtyard so may be very lovely in the summertime, but in the winter (and COVID) with low amenities, it wasn't worth the price we paid. We splurged on a parlour room (lured into it by other reviews), the price for which was nearly as much as the nearby Jefferson for the same night. The Jefferson though has parking right across the street; Linden Row advertises valet parking but it is suspended during COVID, so we had to park two blocks away and walk. Also there is no restaurant, room service, or food source (again, unlike the Jefferson). Our room was nice enough and had a comfortable bed, but the towels and amenities are what you would expect from something like a Doubletree, not a luxury boutique hotel. The lobby furnishings are tired and the lobby artwork, apparently trying to be ecelectic, diminishes any attempt at "luxury". The room furnishings are nice enough and the room decor well-done (better than that in the lobby) but since the hotel is very old, there are creaky floors and other trade-offs that have to be made. Had I opted for one of the less expensive rooms I might be pleased with the value, but paying over $200 in total for a parlour room left us disappointed----as I said, it is only average when comparing it to other hotels of similar cost. I'm sorry to say it, but I was left with the impression that those who think this is "the best hotel in Richmond" have not stayed at truly top-notch hotels. I don't plan to revisit this one.

We found our stay at Linden Row Inn to be quite comfortable, prices reasonable, the staff friendly and helpful, and the location central to all we wanted to do. We will definitely stay here again when in the area.

The title says it all. We've stayed there many times over a 7 year period of time and it just keeps improving. Central to museums, restaurants and many historical attractions. Time period rooms, courtyard cottages all tied in together just off of one of the main streets of Richmond. Try Tarrants restaurant a quick two block stroll away!

Linden Row Inn brings you home. When you need your destination to be unique and accent your journey, this is the place. It's the best of both worlds: Comforts of home in an exotic location. Location is everything in Richmond, Virginia. Edgar Allan Poe played in the gardens here. The rooms are clean and rich with history. It's peaceful while an easy walk will get you to fine dining and events. The view from the roof is stunning. Linden Row Inn is affordable. They meet all COVID guidelines. I felt safe and comfortable the whole time. Masks are worn by all. I write here. I work from here. It's my favorite hotel in Richmond, Virginia. I hope you give it a chance.

I loved this place. I felt like I was a guest in someone's gracious 19th century home. I never expected something so lovely at this price point. We had a 4th floor room with tons of space, beautiful high ceilings, period decor, and rocking chairs on the porch. They were generous with late checkout and allowing us to work in the gorgeous public areas. Great places to for takeout nearby, including Saadia's and Soul taco and Stella's.

I go to Richmond every few months, to visit friends and family or just for fun, and a big part of the allure is the Linden Row Inn. It's a world unto itself, with a beautiful brick courtyard in which there are a few buildings with cozy rooms. There are larger rooms in the revamped Victorian townhouses surrounding the courtyard. I love staying in either option equally, and just stayed in a 3rd floor room with views to both the city and the courtyard. It's clean, the staff are super friendly, and it is centrally located to downtown, the river where there are great hikes on Belle Island, and restaurants in the Fan. I am hooked and highly recommend. It's the perfect getaway hotel.

We've been here many times and it's an absolutely charming hotel. Don't miss the Linden Row Inn when you are in Richmond. If you have a little extra money, get a parlour suite....you won't be disappointed.

During the past two years I have stayed at the Linden well over 50 times. When the pandemic started in March, I stopped coming into Richmond but starting in July I resumed my regular trips. At first I was leery about staying just about anywhere, and then thought maybe I should stay at a chain place in terms of COVID protections. But ended up back at the Linden, and they have done a tremendous job of managing safety while continuing to be the best and most comfortable place to stay in Richmond.

This is the second time I have stayed with them -- the rooms are comfortable and good size, and clean. The location is good. The staff is really wonderful. I especially appreciate the outdoor area within their space during the pandemic.

Loved my stay here. The first was for a night in a quaint and cozy courtyard room, the grounds are well maintained, and the staff is very accommodating. It's the small details really - I asked for throw blanket from the front desk and was given the most comfortable wonderfully smelling blanket. Also, the soap, in which I'm planning on calling the hotel to get the name of. My second stay was in one of the bigger two person rooms, which was very roomy with high ceilings. This hotel maintains the integrity of infrastructure while highlighting Richmonds unique historic charm. P.S. covid-tip, this hotel also maintains an unspoken rule of keeping the rooms empty for what I believe to be 48 hours between guests as pre-caution.

We selected Richmond as a approximate halfway point in our drive from Albany, NY to Atlanta. We were looking for a place with charm, comfort and character as sort of a splurge to self. We found it in the Linden Row Inn. It is a higher end affiliate of the Best Western chain. The property itself dates from the 1800's with ties to the Edgar Alan Poe family. The rooms have a charm dating back to that era yet, maintaining comfortable contemporary standards. The staff always provided for our needs. Despite a small wedding party given the age of Covid we were provided a quiet room. Despite rhe restaurant being booked solid, the staff provided a take out option where we ate in one of the parlors. The entrees of shrimp and grits and crab cakes were tasty and filling. Only saw two issues, parking in the area is limited to on street or a local pay parking deck. Also, would recommend staying in the hotel after dark given the array of street culture one may encounter outside.

Setting and service was exceptional. COVID restrictions were well maintained while guests felt honored. Manager and staff incredibly responsive. Will stay here whenever we can. On site restaurant serves weekend brunch, recommend reservations or takeout as courtyard seating is limited.

Perfectly located near downtown and convenient to restaurants. I enjoy a morning run down Franklin and Monument Avenue, and Linden Row is in a perfect spot for that. Like anywhere else downtown, parking can be tricky depending on what time you arrive. With no valet due to COVID-19, you'll want to plan ahead and prepare to walk a block or two from your car.

My wife and I have been coming to Linden Row for 5+ years whenever we visit Richmond. The staff is always incredibly kind and attentive, and have gone above and beyond when we are celebrating our anniversary. The rooms are gorgeous, and the courtyard makes you feel like you aren't in the middle of a city. It is centrally located, and the staff always has great recommendations for bars and restaurants. Please do yourself a favor and stay here whenever you can!

Stayed on a Friday evening and had a beautiful, large room. Loved the ambience of the hotel and the interactions with hotel staff--everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. Room and common areas were spotless. Really enjoyed the charm of the hotel and location in downtown Richmond.

I found this hotel when looking for a hotel that we can stay during the day (hotelsbyday.com) while waiting for our dog to have a surgery at the Helping Hands Affordable Vet Surgery Center. The hotel has a vintage look outside but it is nice, clean, and upgraded inside. The room was roomy that had 2 queen beds, the beds are nice. The staff was flexible to accommodate us for an early check-in. Shower was nice with nice toiletries. Wifi connection is not that great, it connected with no issues in the hallway, but connection dropped constantly when staying the room. I will stay here again. Highly recommended.

The Parlor Suite was perfect for our experience. It is a perfectly placed gem right downtown, central for our experience. We felt safe, with the rooms facing a courtyard ... and a rocking chair on the porch. The feel of the Deep South is part of history, good and bad, and this hotel gave me the feel of what was good about that history.

Our weekend stay here was so very nice and exactly what we were looking for. It was a quick getaway for our anniversary and we were so pleased. We were greeted warmly at the front desk and the clerk there was able to offer dinner recommendations in the area. We stayed in one of the Main House Rooms and the room was beautiful and the spa bathroom was to die for. There was a surprise waiting for us when we entered our room, a Linden Row Inn mug filled with truffles! And a happy anniversary note from the staff. We had planned to go out for dinner but we couldn't resist the convenience and the atmosphere of Parterre. (Don't miss out on the pork skins and jalapeño pimento cheese! ) The service and food were outstanding, and were only heightened by the atmosphere. Our room was HUGE and the bed was so comfy with all of the pillows, which I loved. The climate control kept the room at a perfect temp and I had a great nights' sleep. I would absolutely recommend this hotel without hesitation, and we will be back!

This is a wonderful hotel in a great location in Richmond. The hotel itself has many outdoor spaces, including the dining area, where you can meet with friends or just read a book in a rocking chair. It's low profile make walking up the stairs (half outside if you prefer) easy vs having to get in an elevator. The rooms are large and roomy with wonderful furniture that compliment comfort and the historic inn experience. They are a pleasant walk to the riverfront trails and around the corner from a roof-top bar (get a rez). Across the street is a bikeshare stand and the bikes are electric! Perfect for riding through VCU and the historic cemetery that is on a large hill. I hope to make the Linden Row Inn my go-to home base for future visits to Richmond.

What a wonderful find for our first trip to Richmond. The hotel was clean and spacious with a lot of beautiful touches. We enjoyed the outside decks and the rocking chairs that were located all along them. It was a nice place to unwind after a long day exploring Richmond. Would definitely recommend the Lindon Row Inn as your place to stay in Richmond.

We spent two nights here on a short visit to the art museum and Mayfair gardens, choosing it rather than a chain hotel after reading about its history. Pros: Parking nearby was convenient and inexpensive. You need to drive down 3rd Street and turn right on Grace, ignore the $7 for 4 hours and drive in. Pay $7 and put the receipt on the dash for a 24 hour stay. The room was large with a queen bed, decent lighting, lounge chair, ottoman, another easy chair, desk and desk chair, refrigerator, microwave, TV, and coffee machine. There was a closet in the small hall with two hangers and a wardrobe in the room with six hangers. The room faced the street but was quiet in the evenings and early mornings. There was good hot water for the shower. Amenities included two sets of towels, soaps, shampoo, shower gel, and lotion. The room had plenty of outlets and one by the bed included two USB ports. There are two comfortable sitting areas downstairs. We found a good deli for breakfast around the corner on Grace Street and had a perfectly acceptable dinner at Tarrant's Café on our first night. Staff is friendly. Cons: Wifi was practically non-existent in the room! Per advice from reception, we took the laptop and smart phones to the lobby in order to login. After returning to the room, nothing connected. If we opened the door and sat on the steps outside the room, we could get a faint connection. Otherwise, any connection was erratic and feeble. The mattress sags in the middle and needs to be replaced. We could hear people walking and talking in the room above ours on our first night. It was unoccupied and therefore quiet the second night. The take-out food from their restaurant is practically inedible; they must use frozen hamburger patties, potatoes, and buns. Everything tasted bland and was completely overcooked. (We only used their take-out because the hurricane's drenching downpour our second evening prevented anyone from venturing out.) Because of Covid-19, there is no housekeeping service, which we did not realize until returning in the afternoon. It would be nice if there were a message in the room advising us of the absence of housekeeping service and what to do. We had to request replacement towels, bathroom amenities and coffee fixings. If wifi is not important or necessary and you get a quiet and comfortable room, this is an acceptable, somewhat modest hotel with character.

We had a great stay here! Rooms are well kept and a great size, great distance from a lot of places, and all of the staff was wonderful, including Michael who helped us a ton when we got in late with a smooth check in and recommendations on where to go. Definitely staying here if we come back!

Every little bit from the outside, to the reception desk, to our room was incredible. Linden Row has really kept the historical touches so well and makes you feel so comfortable. The rooms were very spacious and well kept. The high ceilings made the room feel even larger. We will 100% be staying here again on our next visit to Richmond!

Family, friends and myself have stayed here twice. Its as charming as depicted and the staff are helpful and fun. Could not have a better location to explore Richmond, VA - an exciting city with lots of new restaurants, music, museums, etc.

We've stayed at Linden Rowe twice. First time was the night of our wedding, before leaving town for the Honeymoon. To me, it's the perfect combination of historic old-timey feel and large unique rooms without the super expensive bill. Makes you feel like you're back in Edgar Allen Poe times. Restaurant / bar downstairs is quaint, not related to the hotel so you can't charge to your room, but they do a great job. Each room has been pretty different from the previous.

From the moment we stepped through the door at Linden Row, our experience was top-notch! They are quite attentive to the current requirements of the times, and that is evident from the pens on the counter, to the elevator reminders, to the sanitizer available on each floor, among other things. The front desk clerk was exceptionally pleasant and kind. Our assigned room was on the fourth floor - a quick elevator ride up to an outdoor walkway, then past lovely rocking chairs and through the doors to our room. The room itself was MASSIVE, with luxurious, high beds, plenty of comfy pillows, high ceilings, a HUGE tv above the historic fireplace, along with a Keurig, microwave, and mini-fridge. And that's not it! The bathroom, too, was gigantic, with a tub/shower combo (exceptionally clean!) ample towels, and fabulous-smelling bath products by Archive. The shower pressure, too, was wonderful, with plenty of hot water :-)) On top of all that, wifi is free and reliable. After a short walk to Capital Ale House for dinner, we returned to the room and our plush beds. My son fell asleep almost immediately - he "blames" it on the extraordinarily comfortable mattress and bedding ;-)) After a long day of travel, it was just what we needed!! If you're looking for a lovely hotel stay, and a hotel with all the BEST kind of "character", then this is your spot. Added bonuses are the staff friendliness, and attentiveness to the needs of the times. Well done, Linden Row!

Staff were bright and cheerful, not cloying. Got me into the room almost instantly. Parking valet out of service due to Covid-19 (of course), but garage was a quick walk next door. Room was cozy and bathroom totally modernized with great water pressure. The location was a short walk from Perly's Diner, a great Jewish deli-themed eatery, and the hotel's restaurant, Parterre, was a wonderful treat right next door. I don't generally leave reviews, but I do when the staff is genuinely pleasant. Thanks, Linden!

Each one of our stays at the Linden Row Inn have been perfect. The rooms are comfy and spotless. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive to requests for info and assistance. The restaurant Parterre provides really great food choices. This Inn is located in the heart of Richmond convenient to everything. We will return again and again.

One night stay in Richmond. We wanted a boutiwue hotel in the historic district and Linden Row was perfect solution. Ante Bellum row house combined to make wonderful hotel with beautiful multi level garden and patio. Our room was spacious with period tall ceilings and roomy bath. Older furnishing could be spruced up a bit but all clean and comfy. We did take out because that's all the nearby restaurants offered during Covid. We got a bottle of wine and ate a leid=surely dinne on the wrought iron furniture on the garden patio. Really want to return when common areas are open to enjoy the historic building completyely. The checkin was sterile and clean. The hotel is following the guidelines. All the staff is polite and eager to help.
