Apple Tree Inn, SureStay Collection by Best Western

I was in Julian for one night, Friday June 5, and stayed in Room 16. I arrived late and while somewhat surprised (not in a real great way) to see that the soap to wash my hands was in one of those little home dispensers that everyone touches that leaks soap everywhere, I just needed a shower. The pictures are what the bottom of my feet looked like walking across the floor after my shower. It was not one of their biggest rooms, maybe 10 to 12 steps from bathroom to bed. After washing my feet again, I just wore my shoes every time I got up. The next morning I called the front desk and they told me to text them the pictures which I did and I heard nothing. I reached out last week, I resent the pictures twice, I followed up this week and they still have not responded. If I was staying at a low budget place I would just take my lumps but I paid $164 for the privilege of wearing my shoes around a small hotel room that didn't even provide sanitary hand soap, much less a sanitary place to put my feet.

The Farmhouse st the Apple Tree Inn is an excellent place to stay to share a wonderful getaway with friends or family. The house is a delight, clean, comfortable and roomy. Staff attentive and caring. Great area with good food to be found in many spots nearby and activities around for all levels of interest..

Stayed the night during a two day craft show I was doing so I just wanted an affordable place to sleep. It was a bit more pricy than I was looking for but it was very comfortable and clean. I love that they repurposed old furniture into a modern decor. It felt like an old motel turned into a charming boutique hotel. I would absolutely recommend it. It's right next to the best restaurant in California, Jeremy's on the Hill, and across from a great pizza place. Only 5 or 10 minutes from town center.

The Apple Tree Inn is a perfect getaway. It is located a few miles west of the lovely town of Julian, California, in the community of Wynola. You can enjoy the tremendous number of fun things to do in Julian, while staying away from the crowds, and experiencing the quiet atmosphere of the Inn. Clean, comfortable rooms and very friendly, helpful staff await you and your guests. Two delicious restaurants are right next door. Jeremys on the Hill has delectable meals. Be sure to try the “Devils on Horseback” appetizer. Heroes Wood-Fired Pizza offers many savory dishes. Especially tasty was the Thai Chicken Pizza. To add to the fun, Heroes has talented local bands playing with live music and dancing Thursdays thru Sundays. We have stayed at the Apple Tree Inn many times, and plan to continue to do so, as it always makes for the basis of a great vacation.

The rooms were spacious, beds were comfortable, clean bathroom, great location, and amenities were complete. Even with our room near the highway, it didn't really bother our sleep. Our overnight stay was excellent and I would definitely recommend Apple Inn.

They declined my service dog and they said their rules. They only have a few pet friendly rooms. They said that autism is not a disability and they will tell you that your service dog is not a service dog even if you have proof they won't even look at it. I will never ever stay here again. It was the worst experience ever. I advise you to stay somewhere else in Petoskey, Michigan.

Beds are comfy, pillows are great. Rooms are consistently clean. Christina at the front desk is the best. She really makes the Apple Tree Inn Feel welcoming and homelike. Pool and hot tub are clean. Quiet rooms, each with a balcony. FYI Breakfast starts at 6:30 not a moment earlier?

Place is so adorable! Had a great time the room is comfortable and very cabin feel! We love the bar across the street, food and drinks were amazing and the staff at both places were great! The only thing is you need to turn the shower on ahead of time, it takes a bit to make warm.

The staff is amazing. The hotel is on the older side but they have done a great job keeping it updated. The rooms are clean and I love the beds. Great hot tub which is awesome after long day of skiing. Our family loves this hotel and it works out perfectly for our ski weekends.

Great location and cute rooms! Highly recommend if visiting Julian! You can walk to restaurants, Take a little hike and also apple-pick or go to tasting rooms as welll, all within walking distance. Staff is really nice as well and very helpful.

Third time at Appletree and it was not a charm. Upside- public area are clean and breakfast was good. The room was very clean, thanks to the caring housekeeping staff. Downsides- they don't care about security. or customer comfort. We were attacked at another hotel when intruder climbed from room next door onto our second floor balcony. Since then, we are very concerned about safety. We checked in and told our room was on second floor with balcony. Asked for different room, clerk told us "Everything is signed in and no rooms are available. " However, vacancy sign was on. Our room was on the ground level Anyone could walk right up to balcony and have access to room. Lock on screen door was broken. Door jam on sliding glass door would allow only a few inches of fresh air. It was hot and muggy, so we had to choose between security and the loud AC. AC was 3 feet from bed and blasted nasty air all night. Drapes did not close all the way. Bright light on balcony glared into room all night. right onto the bed. WE couldn't sit outside because of no privacy. Room is not sound proof and we could hear bed thumping above us, Loud water pipes were annoying Room was listed as a suite- it was one room, just a desk chair and small occasional chair in corner. No table, no sofa. We told same clerk next morning about problem with screen door and bright light. they said, most of the locks are broken , nothing they could do about lights and they would tell manager. We complained to corporate office and got the run around for two weeks. Finally told us they would NOT do anything about problem. If we wanted refund to file a claim with credit card company. We did and received a refund immediately It is a shame what has happened to this hotel. It used to be privately owned but now is a Best Western . They obviously don't care about anything but making $$$.

Very pleasant and quiet hotel in Wynola (4 miles from Julian). Very clean, heater worked great. Bed was extremely comfortable (like out bed at home). People at the hotel are friendly and responsive. Everything on one floor so no steps to climb. They also take pets. Rooms were quiet and we didn't hear any of our neighbors. The best part was having Jeremy's on The Hill (restaurant) right next door (excellent food) and also Hero's Wood-fired Pizza across the street (also excellent food and not just pizza). We had a small room but it was still fairly large (much larger than what we expected). They have satellite/dish TV which has a lot of stations to offer. Swimming pool was being redone (we didn't want to use it anyway - too cold). Nice areas for walking. The water could have been hotter. It took some time to get warm and when it did it wasn't exactly as warm as we preferred. Our shower/tub had an issue with part of the shower always running even if you don't put up the knob on the tub spout. Being next to the restaurant also gave us some nice smells in the evening (like steak cooking) and morning (like bacon cooking). No complaints about that. I would recommend bringing a bar of soap unless you like using liquid soaps and also maybe a roll of TP (didn't see any extra rolls in the bathroom). Overall we enjoyed our stay and plan on coming back again soon!!

We were in Julian to attend a wedding of a nephew. Our party of four adults thought the Apple Tree Inn Farmhouse would be perfect for us size-wise. The farmhouse has, to put it mildly, deferred maintenance. The tub filler faucet of the slipper tub in one of bathroom only sputtered out water, the tub could not be filled. The floors in all the rooms meaning kitchen, bathrooms and living room area were quite dirty. We heard mice in the walls at night and there was mouse feces in the kitchen drawers and on the floors. The cable and internet did not work. The total charge for 3 nights was $1595.00 iwith taxes and cleaning fees. If is was not for the wedding, we would have checked out early after one night. We did get a refund of approximately $300, but the person I talked to was very defensive that mice were hard to eradicate as this was out in the country. At this price point, even in a popular area, I would expect cleaner accommodations in better repair. Do not stay here unless you want to be exposed to hantavirus.

Stayed 2 nights at the Apple Tree Inn on the 2 second weekend in October. Booked the room through the Best Western App and everything was smooth. Parking was good, behind the hotel and with access to 2 different floors of the hotel. The room was a large 2 Queen bed, comfortable and roomy for 2 adults and a teenager. The sink was outside of the toilet/bathtub area and had lots of room. Shower water pressure was good and we had hot water throughout 3 morning showers. Beds and pillows were good. Breakfast was adequate with mostly bread items. The Breakfast area is small and with a full hotel, was crowded with as little as 10 people. All staff encountered were cordial and helpful. Hotel was 5 minutes from downtown Petoskey, 30 miles from Mackinaw City and the ferry dock for the trip to Mackinac Island. A good place to stay while visiting Northern Michigan.

Room was well laid out, nice view. However, it was so dirty, it smelled like urine. Front desk was not friendly. Breakfast was good. Beds were not comfortable. Location was good. We had members discount. Front desk would not honor AARP 10% off lowest rate.

We loved everything about this hotel. The breakfast was good, people were very nice and the rooms were clean. The only Doreen side to our stay was that the pool and sauna were closed do to a ventilation issue. We were close to everything, beach, shopping, and restaurants. Will definitely stay here again

We occupied the family suite which met our basic needs. The hotel was clean although dated. The hotel staff is superior and responsive/helpful. Clean towels and linens were readily available, including asking to have the sheets changed during your stay. The breakfast foods/drinks were ample and of standard quality. The location was convenient. The shower head was stuck in one position and had very poor flow and the control handle was old and hard to turn. The towel rack fell off the wall. We didn't report maintenance issues to staff until check-out as we had our finicky pet with us in the room.

We have enjoyed the Apple Tree for years, love the staff (especially Renee) and appreciate the friendly, almost- at- home atmosphere. Comfortable, spacious rooms , pretty decent in-room coffee (a must), and a good quick breakfast before we head out to enjoy the day skiing or whatever.

Horrible! Let's start with reservations online. Booked a 2 night stay with my dog. Best western does not have a drop down to add a pet. I put it in special instructions. Something told me to call the next day to confirm. I did, front desk tells me they only have 1 night available. I ask the lady. If I would have drove up there , I would have been stranded. She replied yes. Told me it was my responsibility to call and verify. I booked for the one night available. I find out there is a 30.00 pet fee. No mention of this on Best Western website. Room was down right disgusting! Breakfast was garbage. I think this hotel is about as bottom as you can get

Very Friendly, helpful, efficient staff. Very comfortable beds, large, spacious very clean king room. Nice variety of breakfast items to chose from and you can enjoy your breakfast indoors or out on the lovely patio. Prices are very reasonable.

Aside from the soft towels and good view of the bay, there is really nothing good to say about this place. It is musty and old. Needs a complete update. Breakfast was lousy. Billed as a “boutique hotel” but I think that's their code for old. There's a newer Comfort Suites across the street. Try that.

We were very pleased with our stay at Apple Tree Inn. Two couples shared a room and it was spacious for our needs. The rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable. The bathroom was well lit and very clean as well. We would recommend this location!

Fluctuating daily room rates Increased day over day for 3 days Discovered at checkout but the increases if disclosed were not in plain sight. I was told at checkout that this is normal for all hotels in area. I will test that claim as I will look for a different hotel next time.

The Apple Tree Inn is a hidden gem. We stayed in t 3 queen bed suite. There was plenty of room for us. The room had a huge bedroom with a closet. The only suggestion would have been having 2 bathroom or even a bath and a half. We made due and were happy with the comfortable beds. We had been coming to Petoskey for over 15 years and this was our first time staying here, we will be back.

My sister and I started a new tradition of taking a short trip to a destination in our home state of Michigan. This year we picked Petoskey and stayed at the Apple Tree Inn. Wonderful experience. We loved the affordable room rates and the complimentary breakfast had a little of everything! Our beds were so comfortable and I loved having coffee on my balcony overlooking the beautiful water. Christina at the front desk went out of her way to make our stay very special! I will be back!!

Some places look cute but are actually overrated. This one will not disappoint! Warm lobby offers complimentary waters and snacks. Large indoor heated pool and hot tub. And best of all a complimentary limo to take you downtown for sightseeing and dinner/drinks. The rooms are pleasant also!

Wonderful stay! The room was clean and roomy ; the balcony overlooking Little Traverse Bay was my favorite place to enjoy my morning coffee! I enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub. The staff was so accommodating and polite. (Christina at the front desk was amazing! ) AND they offer free limo service downtown and to the casino - a treat my husband and I enjoyed when we went out to dinner for our anniversary. We will definitely be back!

The hotel is clean although dated. The staff in the evening is friendly. Daytime staff were chatting together which is fine but the desk is essentially in the breakfast room. Also they should be ashamed to call this a Full Breakfast. It is continental only. Otherwise pleasant stay.

Don't go for the complimentary breakfast! The hotel is a bit worn but has some interesting charm & is close to everything we needed. Pet friendly.

BAD: Providing ice to "paying guests" has been done way before the advent of ice making machines. Heck... It was done before electricity. Replacing humans (servants to fetch and break ice blocks then fill the ice box) by a machine has also been happening for quite some time. Well... Since there is electricity! SO... Posting a card saying "Ice machine is broken, sorry for the inconvenience" would be honest and heartfelt if the inconvenience meant "Go at the front desk, wait in line and ask of ice". NOT AT BAYMONT. There, it felt like a "Get lost dummy" dismissal following the easy answer "Sir, look, isn't it obvious?!? The ice making machine is broken, so there is no ice, PERIOD". One wonders... if the washing machine breaks, will I still get a towel? GOOD: On another note... As a French Canadian unused to the "Biscuits and Gravy", I make it a duty to try it once every time it is offered, even though I have never appreciated it. BUT LO AND BEHOLD! Baymont have opened my eyes (and taste buds) on the TRUTH: this can be awesome! And because they also had DIY waffles, I had the most amazingly fulfilling morning I could dream of.

We booked a double queen room for a two-day women's retreat at Bay Harbor. The reservation and check in/out was easy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel and our room were bright, cheery and clean. We did not have time to use the free limo service but will on another visit. Where did they get those comfy pillows? I slept well and had a wonderful breakfast sandwich, yogurt, orange juice and coffee in the lobby before we left.

Friendly staff, just over $100 for one night. Basic breakfast, pool, rooms were all good. Hot tub was too HOT to enjoy for longer than a couple minutes if you could even handle getting into it. Our floor was under construction but we didn't know and weren't told. No flooring in the hallway so it was messy/dirty. Room served the need for a place to sleep overnight while we explored the town. We didn't use the limo shuttle but thought it was a cool feature. We have stayed in different hotels in the area before and wanted to try something different. I would search for a different hotel next time, but this one was fine for the basics.

Such a nice place. Great pool. For the price this place is great. Read the negatives. No way! Place was so worth it. I'll be back. Now I have another 100 characters to write before this will be accepted. What can I say? Stay here. Clean and great.

Our stay was incredible! This was not the fanciest hotel I've stayed in but it hit all the right marks. Very nice area, awesome view, great amenities and good value! Everyone was friendly and helpful from the staff at check-in to the maintenance personnel to housekeeping and the breakfast attendant... even the other guests.

We always stay here when in Petsokey. We come 2 to 3 times a ski season. The front desk staff are awesome! The room is clean and comfortable. Great location close to skiing and casino. Love thr free limo service! Matt the driver is excellent. Plan to come back in a few weeks if the weather will cooperate

passed the white sock test. carpet did not leave my white socks black. do not approve of credit card being charged before I checked in. used bestwestern gift cards to pay for room. good location and was not noisy.

Reservation: Do reserve in advance. Staff even called us the day of check-in and confirmed we're we keeping reservation. Very professional. Hotel was full. Very nice hotel, looks well kept and maintained. Easy to find and good location. Microwave, refrigerator, Iron, Ironing board, hair dryer and makeup mirror (although mirror was old and did not light up—needs replacement). WiFi free, nice TV a good variety of channels except The Weather Channel which was actually CSpan. Two room cards but only one worked. Charming balcony on third floor and yes elevator worked great. Large rooms. Cleanliness. Very clean rooms. Minor cosmetic work needed, bathroom door sticks and hard to close and needed fresh paint. Tub and shower needed some grout cleaning and repair in the corner of floor and tub. However, hall carpets need a deep cleaning or outright replacement. Breakfast was pick up and take back to room (still under pandemic cautions). Basic, juice, muffins, coffee, waffle, instant oatmeal, good, but not outstanding. I would stay again.

We booked this hotel in advance, we should have read more reviews and here is why. 1. I went inside to check in, got my room key, parked and went upstairs to our room, the door to our room was unlocked, it had the safety latch in the door to stay open. No staff person was around the area, I also noticed the room next to us was open, I have never gone to any hotel where your room door was unlocked and open. Who knows who or what was done to the room. 2. Upon checking out our room my wife did not see any wash clothes in the bath area, nor under the sink. I called down to the desk talked with Steve. Was told there was a shortage of wash cloths, and he would give us more hand towels. Was not happy with that, have you ever used a hand towel to wash your face or use in the shower. 3. The water handle for the shower was very loose as well. Upon checking out I asked to talk to the manager, Renee, I told her about the door lock issue, she looked kind of like I don't think this should have happened, then I talked to her about the wash cloth issue and she just made excuse's about the owner and how they were trying to purchase more wash cloths. She also asked if Steve gave us any, I said no, she told me there were some in the wash area. Not sure who is telling the truth about this but in my case this was not ok. She said she would adjust our room price and she did it went from 249. to 239. I looked at her and asked 10.00 wow was told she would have to check with the owner. Just more issues that concern me is the carpet in the hallway and the rooms was not cleaned at all, you could tell it has not been vacuumed in weeks. WE WOULD NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL EVER AGAIN

From the pre arrival phone call confirming what time we would be there, to the check-in, cleanliness of the room and comfort of the mattress, breakfast and check-out. We were very impressed. It was quiet, the view of the bay and Lake Michigan were amazing. We will definitely be back and can't recommend this place enough.

The room and bathroom were spacious. Nice patio as well. A short distant to all the local attractions. They even had limo service so you don't have to drive and find parking. Hearty breakfast as well.
