Best Western Plus Kalamazoo Suites

When we arrived, there was a misunderstanding on how to handle the incidental charges. After a while, it was resolved. We went to the room, the bath mat was dirty, there was hair in the tub, there was food in the fridge and the single chair was damaged. We went out for a bit, and when we came back, I went to the front desk because there were no sheets or extra blankets for the pull out couch. I asked the guy at the front desk for the items and assistance with getting the wifi set up. He assisted for a bit but then walked away. I could tell he was on the phone the whole time. When I went upstairs to make up the bed, there were yellow stains on the mattress. During breakfast, the lady was putting the bread, bagels, and English muffins in the container with her bare hands. She even offered my mother an English muffin with her bare hands. I then watched her take out the trash with bare hands as well.

The breakfast lady was rude house keeping came and left our door unlocked and opened till about 10 pm when we came back people fighting in the hallway call the front desk to complain and they wouldn't even let me finish before i was done and hung up the phone on me both times s when i would call

very helpful and responsive staff, clean room and very good breakfast options. The pool is well maintained and a hit with my granddaughter. Great location within 5 to 10 minutes of local restaurants and other events attended over the weekend.

This hotel sits right off the highway, close to shopping, restaurants, and near the university. The hotel has been updated with rooms that have plenty of space for families. The beds are comfortable and bathrooms spacious.

The room was large and clean. Great pool area. Nice breakfast. I would stay here again. The hotel is close to everything in the area. Looks like they recently updated the carpets. Very pleased with the stay!

Our stay at the Best Western Plus in Kalamazoo, MI was perfect. From the moment we checked in to the moment we left, everything was Top-Notch. Loved using the pool and hot tub after our day's drive and enjoyed the tasty breakfast each morning. The lobby and breakfast areas were so clean and decorated so nicely for Christmas. This hotel has a caring staff who want the best for those who stay there.

The front desk lady was beautiful and thoughtful. She has a way with words and her smile is infectious! The night Auditor Nick was hospitable and a true gentleman. The Executive Housekeeper was everything I look for in a co-worker. One day I will get the opportunity to meet their Elusive Leader Ms Lindsey; well a man can have lofty goals that I may never reach. Appreciate your kind and courteous team Ms Lindsey!! ❤️

Dead bugs everywhere. Do not look under the bed. Very messy. Building is very dated, which would be okay if kept clean. Elevator was sketchy. Breakfast would have been decent but sausage was burned. The burned breakfast was the best part of the stay. I expected way better.

Overall this was a good place to stay but the room was too bright at night due to light coming in the windows. Bed and pillows were very comfy. The room layout was a bit different but worked out very well. Microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker was very nice.

The room that I stayed in had a BRIGHT spotlight illuminating the exterior of the building right outside the window. The light blocking curtains came nowhere near closing, so my wife and I had to sleep in a room that was as bright as day.

This place is awful. Rooms are dirty and in poor repair. Furniture was filthy and smelled. Floors are sticky. I usually read all reviews good and bad when I book a room. I understand you can't make everyone happy. Trust me you want to stay somewhere else. The bad reviews are right on this one.

Best stay ever. Beautiful big clean room. Nice fluffy towels. Comfy bed. Big window. Great sweet staff. This stay made our trip amazing wish could of stayed longer. Will definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends.

If you need somewhere to crash, this place is fine. It feels poorly constructed though and there were lots of little things that made it not feel like a 3-star hotel. I feel like 3 stars is generous. It was fine. With this being an average priced hotel for the area, I'm scared at what the lower priced ones must be like! Overall it was okay.

I can easily recommend this hotel. The room was pretty good. I booked a room at the lowest price possible and it was supposed to be a double queen bed room. The room I got was a king size bed with a very spacious room. It was clean and comfortable. Air conditioner worked great, no problems there. The breakfast was excellent. Eggs (usually scrambled) and they rotated some other kind of protein like sausage (link or patty) or bacon and hash brown cubes, juice and coffee machine, assorted yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal, and a waffle machine. Plenty to choose from. The swimming pool and hot tub / spa were great. Both were at a pleasant temperature and were clean. There was an odor of chlorine in the air but it wasn't overwhelming, but that should be expected. The pool deck area was mostly clean but sometimes there were some used towels left by rude guests who couldn't take the time to dispense their used wet towels in the bin labeled "used towels". The only negative thing about my stay (which was out of the control of the hotel) was that the hotel was going through replacement of their roof. So it was noisy at times, limited parking near the hotel, and some trash from the work the roofers left on the property during their work on the roof. 4 out of 5 stars for me.

management should review the quality of cleaning once rooms are cleaned there was a lot of hair all over our toilet, bathtub and pillows!!!! Ventilation in showers needs to be updated along with doors if I end up in county lockup I'm pretty sure i'd be looking at the identical bathroom.

We had a power outage that lasted 5 days during the winter. When we were pushed back for a fourth time on restoration, we decided to find a hotel nearby. The check in was smooth and the staff was friendly. The elevator needs some work as we were on the top floor and it was a loud and creaky ride. But our room, which was near the elevator, and was clean - although somewhat dated - and spacious. The bed was comfortable. And above all else, it was QUIET!! We actually slept in! Didn't hear the highway noise - which was very close by - and we didn't hear the creaky elevator! Highly recommend staying here.

This is our favorite place to stay when we are in Kalamazoo. We use it as a central place to say when shopping and entertainment is our priority. Clean rooms and helpful friendly staff make for a nice mini vacation.

My wife & I wanted to get away for a short visit to the heart of Michigan's wine vineyards. The BW in Kalamazoo was the perfect location to accomplish our goal. The parking lot is well lit up at night and we felt secure at this location. Front desk staff was welcoming/friendly (Drew especially) and the room was a good size & clean! Enjoyed a nice breakfast staffed by a very nice & helpful person. We would come back again.

We stayed 3 nights. Very roomy. The room was very clean. It has black out curtains. There was light around the door to the hall but it wasn't enough to bug us. They gave clean towels each day. When someone down the hall made a mess in the hallway the staff cleaned it up right away. The room had a couch and desk with plenty of room so you didn't feel like you were right on top of each other. The breakfast was good. Had different eggs each day with a variety of sides (links, ham, potatos, cheese). Make your own waffle maker. 4 kinds of cereal. Muffins, bagels and cream cheese. Yogurt with 6 different add ins. There was a small pool and exercise room. They have a business area where you can print stuff and free WiFi. Also a small store with soda, water candy and other snacks. Offered basic necessities (aspirin, toothpaste, bandages).

the staff were very nice. it didn't make up for the poor quality bed, it had deep body dents on both sides, and the noise. there was a huge gap all the way around the door and no insulation made it a loud night. I didn't get much rest between the horrible bed and the noise

We really enjoyed this hotel. We had a comfortable bed, a good breakfast, and nice people working here. The perks of the rewards program included and snack bag with water, hand sanitizer, and Pirates Booty!

Stayed here with a large group, and they were very accommodating in every way. Rooms are large, each with a pull-out queen bed. The beds were comfortable and rooms were all clean. Breakfast was good, and plenty of food. Also in a very quiet area with many things a short drive away.

Check in was smooth and acknowledgement of status was offered. Spacious and clean rooms at a great price during the week. The weekend price was a bit more spendy but combining the weekday and weekend prices made it extremely affordable for the area. Front desk personnel was friendly and curtious. Breakfast had a wide selection and tasted great! Even though we didn't use the pool and hot tub it did look inviting, and fun for those using it.

Air unit did not work on a 90+ day outside. Reported and was not corrected nor offer to change rooms. Very hard to sleep when you are hot and damp setting. Seen daylight all around door. I would not stay again due to the uncaring staff to correct the issue or offer another room.

Had a terrible experience after booking a three night stay. Night two we had "stink bugs " on the wall. Called front desk who then captured and flushed 4 bugs. Minutes later I found one in my bed. Also captured another the next morning. Brought issue to the front desk where they changed rooms and gave me a receipt for a discount of $91.99. I created a dispute with my credit card company who denied it because i signed the initial charge stating there will be no refunds or discounts for anything!!! I got charged full price for rooming with stink bugs!!

As good, toe clippings, dirty qtips, dusty microwave, very nasty shower head was the only things I took photos of… I wonder what I slept in! Be careful & check your room before staying! It's very unacceptable for a dirty room!

The room had an unpleasant odor as if it needs to be cleaned really really good. I don't know how to say it but it smelled old and musty. The hot tub needs to have the water changed. Breakfast was decent and staff was good. The price was similar to other hotels but I'll definitely try anything else before I stay here again.

The hotel is very nice. The Rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast is basic. The front desk admin Emily was exceptional. Please read the fine print this hotel does require a $150 deposit either on a credit card (not debit cc) or cash. Other than that we would recommend the hotel.

I understand that life goes on and in the case of a business like a hotel things have to be maintained as it would also in our own homes. But seriously this Best Western was a nice place to stay in for me.

We stayed in the room with 2 queen beds and a sofa bed. The room was large and clean. Hotel is in great location, close to many restaurants and stores. All staff we encountered were polite and courteous.

Great value and comfort, my only issue was that the suana/whirlpool bubble action did not work. Also, there were other guests that were not really social distancing outside of their group. They should have been more respectful of others

Choose Best Western at your own risk. This place is run by crooks! We have been fighting fraudulent charges for over a month now. The hotel we stayed at charged us an extra $250 after we checked out for "smoking in the room" and "checking out after 12:30". 1. We DON'T smoke and never have. I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke. 2. We were at a dance competition by 10:00 and my kid was onstage at 12:30. The hotel refuses to refund the money and corporate refuses to overrule the hotel. "It's up to the hotel to provide any refund they deem necessary". That's like saying it's up to a mugger to return your wallet if they decide they don't want it!! I cannot believe any corporation thinks this is an acceptable way to do business.

Awesome Place to stay, nice clean room, Big and comfortable bed, Close to all the Things we wanted to see and do! The Breakfast was very good, the Pool and work out gym very clean, All in All very nice place!

Room smelled of stale smoke, could still see the smoke grime on the walls and light switches. Bedding and pillows smelled horrible and comforter had hair and stains on them. Smoke alarm kept going off, we had to change the batteries and reset it, had to change the remote batteries. The smell of chlorine was super strong. Will never stay here again or recommend. Many who stayed here along with us for our kids completion were just as dissatisfied.

We booked here Ina quick getaway from the norm for spring break. Room was nice sized for a grown family of 5, but dingy and in need of quality updates. Pictures communicate a much higher standard than true existing quality. The hotel is having water problems - other than recent hot water heater replacement. Hot tub repair not really complete, other hotel guests very noisy and inconsiderate, without parental supervision. Food was hot, but unremarkable hotel breakfast. Managers doing bare minimum but seem to think provision of Service is enough. Bright spot: kind hotel keep staff is VERY considerate.

My room was not ready until an hour after check in. I was given a room with one bed and a chair. I booked two beds. I had to go to Walmart and buy an air mattress. After calling and asking for sheets and a blanket, two hours later I called and asked again. I was told I could send someone down to get them. The shower had long black hairs on the back wall. There was no hot water. The elevator stopped working while we were there, on the top floor. There was a dip in the floor that caused the tv and stand to lean forward so much the drawers wouldn't stay pushed in. I was afraid to be anywhere near it, I don't know how it didn't fall over. The entire hotel was disgusting. I would never recommend this place!!

Staff went above and beyond, room was a great size. Price was acceptable. Warm in showers could have been warmer and kitchen cabinets could have been more clean. But all in all this was a great stay. Any needs or wants were meet right away.

The hotel manager charged us a $200 smoking fee for the room and cited that there was evidence of smoking in the room, however when we went to look at the room together there were no butts or ashes as he claimed and none of the towels or chairs had any smoking smell. One of the people in the room was a smoker and her belongings could have smelled of smoke, but the room was NEVER smoked in. He also said "I would have never rented to you people if I would have known" when referring to us after I mentioned that I was helping out a neighbor with a room who is between houses. The guest who was a smoker was is an African American Female. Come here for predatory/scammer treatment!

I talked to 5 different employees, none had good customer service skills. I was not greeted when I arrived, was not given any info, etc. The room was clean and a large room. The beds were not the best, but not horrible. We had a problem with our room keys at one point. Front desk fixed them but wouldn't answer me when I questioned why both keys would not work for the room, yet we could get into the building with them. We had VERY loud people across the hall that we could hear all the way into our room. They also kept coming and going and yelling in the hall. 1:00am-4:30 am. I tried calling the front desk several times and the phone would just ring and ring and ring. I did let the front desk know at check out and was told they would look into it. Did not eat Breakfast, so can't comment on there. Hot tub was out, but nothing told you that. I will not stay here again.

Stayed here for 2 nights for a dance competition. There is no soundproofing so you can hear people walking above you all night. Room was dirty with outlets falling out of the wall. The only thing this hotel has going for it was that the beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious.

Don't do it! Our room was bad. The bed needs to be replaced, the room needs updated, I don't think housekeeping has a great eye for detail, and there were multiple issues in the bathroom including a broken bathroom fan and a broken tub drain. We had to put a bar of soap under the drain stopper to keep the drain open. Also, in my 40 years I have never had a receptionist check my room before checking me out at the end of my stay, until I stayed here. This property needs a lot of love!

No hot water and the exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't work. My will be attending WMU starting this fall and was staying at this hotel for an incoming freshman event. Being from the Chicago area, we plan on staying in the area when visiting her. We won't be staying here. When we arrived, we were told that my credit card wouldn't be accepted due to it showing DEBIT on it. This would have been nice to know ahead of time. When I said that I didn't have cash on me for the required $150 deposit, she said nothing and had a look on her face like “That's not my issue.” She didn't mention that there is an ATM in the lobby until I asked if she knew of one close by. Then she pointed to the machine across the lobby. And she didn't even tell us about the breakfast that's available. Not good customer service.

I'm a loyal Best Western customer, but this was not like their other hotels. This one has not been taken care of. The pool had some mystery film on top, the elevator was filthy, loud and in disrepair. It had something brown in the corner that looked like...you know. The curtains were stained, the valances were filthy, the couch was so scary that neither of us wanted to sit on it. Everything in the room was chipped or broken. On the good side the staff was really friendly and nice, and the room appeared to be cleaned well - you can't really clean a couch but the sheets and the floors seemed clean. I'm used to travelling during these difficult times and have stayed in many Best Westerns this year. My guess is that the staff is working hard, but no one is investing in this property. Shame.

There was bed bugs in our bed. Then They accepted to give us back the money We decided to go somewhere else of course but they still have charged us 30$ to sleep in a bed with bed bugs.. The staff is very kind Pool and spa is nice But don't go there if you can go somewhere else !

Front desk people were very friendly. Hotel was very clean. Bed was extremely uncomfortable and slanted lower at the head. Toilet was loose from the floor. Elevator was not working according to a fellow guest. The location was convenient.

This should NOT be a PLUS hotel, it ruins your reputation. We stay at PLUS hotels regularly because they represent a quality this hotel does NOT represent. Bath ceilings falling apart, breakfast worst of any hotel in the US...no cereal, coffee machine, barely anything one would expect from a PLUS. First room we made them move us it was so bad, second okay. Bath towels barely bigger than hand towels. Two things not controllable by hotel, hot tub out of order and noise from floor above real bad. The one plus was the enormous room with nice furniture and the HVAC.

I was surprised and upset that our two rooms that I booked had not been cleaned. My daughter, who stayed in the room on her wedding night walked into the room and it was not cleaned from the night before. She had to make her own bed on her wedding night. The next morning was a breakfast from Hell. No forks or spoons or napkins. No food in the bakery case like yogurt or bananas, the sausage and potatoes were cold. No eggs and the counter was filled with spilled food. total mess. The curtains did not close and a big, very bright light shined in the room so I couldn't sleep very well. Why have curtains if they can't close?

The service was horrible and the staff was anything but pleasant. There were no pillows available for our daughter sleeping on the pull out couch and there was virtually no food offered for breakfast even though there was at least an hour left before breakfast was to conclude. I would not recommend this hotel to others.

Excellent service by the staff. Bathrooms could use an update. They need more counter space and the water pressure was way to low. The breakfast was hot and was very tasty could have use a little variety from day to day

Came in town for an overnight stay for a wedding. Room had reminisces of food on the floor. The ironing board was broken and the legs wouldn't stay locked. At night there was the distinctive smell of Marijuana coming through the AC from outside. The fabric on the chair was worn through. Requested a quiet room and was given one right outside the elevator. Too bad because it appears to be a nice place to stay from the outside.

Very nice and clean. Saad at front desk very nice and friendly!! Room was clean and comfortable. decor is a little outdated , only bad thing about room was hot water was more luke warm. Hot breakfast, sit down. Would like to have had it open earlier than 630 or 7. In town for big race and we had to leave on sat/sun before breakfast was ready!! Otherwise nice place.

SAAD was a welcome site when we entered the Kalamazoo Best Western Plus. He ensured that we had a room when no other hotel had one available. He took the time to meet and then exceed our needs. We cannot thank SAAD and Best Western Plus of Kalamazoo for our one-night stay.

For being a $150 room there was no hot water or water pressure in the room. We found garbage that we had to clean up when we arrived stuffed behind the mattress. The soap seemed to be re-wrapped and was still wet when we got to the room. When I went down to the front desk to inform the staff I was told they knew about the water issues for the past 2-3 days and it would be fixed by morning, of course it was not. In the morning when I told the manager again, different guy, he told me I should've said something last night and now there's nothing they can do. Will not be staying at a Best Western in the future.

Best Western Plus, is a very comfortable and clean facility, the breakfast was excellent, and very diverse with lots of options. The unit had internet, and all items in the room were very good working order. There was a misunderstanding about needing linens for the sofa bed, and an issue with the debit card, but we would definitely return to this Best Western in the future, just resolving issues at the time.

Not what I expected! Arrived late evening and there was average assistance by staff. The room was poor condition. 80's decor but very dirty; carpet not vaccines, ottoman soiled, spider webs on windows, moldy bathtub, peeled off faucet fixtures, drawer of chest dirty. The best was co Fir table. AC looked new but too cold and noisy. Hotel set away in a quiet area but there was a lot of commotion at night in and outside of hotel. Breakfast was grab and go apple juice cup and a generic sugary prepackaged muffin. Folgers coffee was good. Cereal cups with milk also. The guests looked sketchy! Would not stay again! There was a microwave and sink and mini frig in room. The frig door didn't open all the way! Skip this one!

Hotel was easy to find. It was easy to get to the places i needed to get to. room was very clean and very spacious. could have had a few more snacks and such to purchase. wish the hot tube was working but pool was so that was fine.

Staff is very nice and the location is convenient but my last stay here was troubling. Other guests were loud and rude. Visitors in and out of hotel made me feel unsafe. The hotel staff tried their best to assist but no results came from it.

But I decided to go against the Google reviews. My friend put me up here and said I would have no issues. I LOVED IT!! I will definitely be returning very soon. My kids loved the pool". We were a little bummed the jacuzzi couldn't be used but all was great

UPDATE: They must have seen this review because I woke up to a $200 smoking fee. The manager said "it smelled like a bar" when he went in to fix the toilet. We don't smoke and were there for there for a total of 4 hours after check in laying in bed, watching TV with our 13 old. I'm guessing they saw my review and decided on revenge.. they should also know that I have pictures of the bugs in my sons bed and will be contacting the corporate offices and I will do whatever I can to rectify this. You can't just retaliate against people that speak ill of the horrible establishment they run and get away with it. I'm writing this review at 1:00 am as my husband is driving us 3 hours home. That's how bad this hotel is. The room was not what I would except walking into for the first time. It wasn't very clean and the hallway smelled like cigarettes. The beds seems like they were rushed to be made. The closet doors would roll off the tracks. The dresser wouldn't stay closed and was leaning. One of the beds was sagging incredibly in the middle. There were scratches in the headboard that someone had colored over with a sharpie and had weird stains on it. The toilet stopped working and they didn't have anyone on staff to fix it. They couldn't move our room. We were on the 4th floor and they told us to use the bathroom by the gym on the 1st floor. The man across the hall from us seemed out of his mind on drugs, in and out of his room constantly at midnight, slamming the door and left his dog in the room barking. People out in the parking lot in their cars, revving the engines loudly while other people filmed it. Just so low class all round. Found multiple bugs crawling on the wall and in my sons bed. That was the last straw. We packed up and are driving 3 hours home. I let the front desk know about the situation and he was really nice and apologetic. That was literally the only good thing about our stay is that the guy was nice about everything. I inquired about a refund and he said they probably wouldn't be able to since they had already charged my card. Which is honestly whatever. I'm so disappointed with our very short stay here.

The hotel is in a perfect location for the stay we had planned however, the room definitely needed to be cleaned before we stayed comfortably. When we entered it smelled of cigarettes, there was plastic over the smoke detector, the comforter had cigarette holes, there had been food left in the fridge, and we never received our coffee pot despite asking several times. We stayed for four days and after several attempts at getting a coffee pot delivered we just gave up.

I stayed one night recently because having some work done at my place. I was very surprised at how dirty and sketchy everything was. They had a good score on here so I figured it would be a decent hotel. It is pretty bad. The room had old furniture, was dusty, and I felt like I didn't want to touch anything. I didn't even use the shower. The whole feel of the place was like a motel 6 or something. I would not recommend this spot

Wow this place fell way below my expectations, pool was cold and I was only allowed to reserve a 30 min window to swim with my family. My room had old French fries on the floor. The hot water took 30 mins to even get warm in the shower. The towels were so small I needed 3 just to dry off after the shower. Now for the best part, the room was so loud at night it sounded like the someone was walking around above me all night and the ceiling kept squeaking. Oh yeah I almost forgot the 1am dance party in the parking lot.

The service was nice with regard to swimming and having a schedule for that. The worst part by far was the room smelled like a smokers house or a strip club and just hit you when opening the door. The air also did not work and it got up to 80 degrees in the room at night as the fan system was broke as wires had been cut and pulled off. When I let the front desk know in the morning they did not seem to care the least bit. If I was staying more than the one night it would have mattered more.

OK so I checked in January 16 about 5 PM went up to my room whole hotel was loud big old party is going on management was not enforcing facemask left to go do my evening plans came back to hotel at 10:15 still very loud hotel woke up to the morning to my wife asking some guy who are you he says sorry wrong room went down and spoke to the front desk they said they are missing master keys in management knows about it so I hurried up got dressed and got out of there got home checked my bank Monday morning saying they overcharged me by $150 that was on Monday morning I noticed it here it is getting ready to be Friday morning still have not received a refund assistant manager bent over backwards even spent time on the phone with my bank and prove that I was right but her manager is telling her that we are all wrong don't go there

I stayed in Kalamazoo for work. I had stayed at a hotel prior to this and it was maybe a two star hotel. My wife chose this hotel and I was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean breakfast was ready early enough and package so that I could grab it and head to work. The pool was accessible.

Pool party was great!! Room was quite and very large for everyone to sleep comfortably. Beds were very comfortable. Let out sofa was convenient and easy to use. Extra pillows were already in the closet.

During our stay at Best Western we had a sleep over for my son and daughters birthday. We had to room's full of kids and were awaken at 2:30 am to a fire alarm. We go down stairs and were told by others that we need to evacuate. No hotel employee was to be found we had no clue what was happening. I went and got all kids out of bed out there coats and shoes on and go down stairs and finally see a hotel employee who says it was a false alarm. Alarm still blaring we had back to our rooms and were told again that there actually was a fire. We had to take all the kids out and sit I the freezing cold and waited for the clear from the fire department. The next day at check out we asked for an explanation and were told it was Technical difficulties. My children are now sick and we were not given as much as an apology.

No water available in our room.. faucet and shower head out of wall. Switched to another room- water was barely hot and barely coming out. Old toilets,linens and furniture. Shower curtains ripped and nasty. Carpets didn't even connect to next flooring. Door was not sealed even when fully closed and locked. Mattress was so hard. Lighting was awful- had to turn on all lamps in room and I have 20/20 vision. Terrible experience.

My wife and I were traveling and needed to find a room for the night. We looked up hotels in the area and The Best Western popped up. The price for the night was very reasonable and was just a few miles ahead as we drove down the 131. We we arrive it was very clean and well kept. The lobby and the pool areas were spotless. Check in was very smooth and seamless. When we entered our roo We were amazed at how big it was. We were certainly happy that we chose to stay there.

I would like to commend Saad on being the epitome of what customer service means to an organization. He was extremely polite and helpful with my request, and assisted me in my needs with friendliness and professionalism that should be a part of every experience in this industry that I could hope to receive in the future.

Booked through a third party website. Upon entering our room, we noticed first that it was FREEZING- the AC set to 62° and the room looked NOTHING like the photos on the website. The phone didn't work properly. The batteries in the remote were taped in. Very outdated. The fridge stunk, the bathroom smelled like a nursing home, and when we tried to turn the AC up higher, the whole room smelled like hot wiring and like it was going to catch on fire. We ended up checking out after the front desk was unable to issue a refund and the third party called 4 times and was hung up on each time. Very unimpressed. Kalamazoo isn't family friendly. Do yourself a favor and book a better hotel in Saint Joe or South Haven for the same price. It was worth the $$$ loss to know my family and I are in a safe, clean, friendly place.

This place was super sketchy. There was dried blood on the door to get outside on the side and crack heads loitering around the hotel. The room did not feel clean in fact reeked of baby oil and the floor was slippery. Terrible experience.

I stayed here on a trip out of state, I liked it enough that I stayed again on my way back! The front desk was super friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. My only 2 complaints are that the water didn't get overly warm, and there was a strong smell of Marijuana in the hallway and elevator both stays. Other than that both stays were enjoyable!

My son and I spent some time in Kalamazoo to visit Western Michigan University and to stop at Bell's Brewery. Both places were easy drives from the hotel. The hotel was easy to find and the reception desk was very helpful. Our room was very clean. I would recommend staying here anytime.

Asked for high floor and crib, got the second floor, two people before us got the third floor, when checking in, asked about crib, not on reservation he had, tried twice to get our copy from vehicle, he said, I believe you, got playpen from front desk. Checked in, had difficulty with play pen, one of the side legs had come out of holder so base of playpen was not level. Front desk person solved it, after 8 hours on road, I was not thinking to problem solve. Had a disturbing night, a lot of noise in the hall, thought someone was trying to get into room. Not much sleep at all before a 12 hour day of driving. Four hot food for breakfast, scrambled eggs, hash browns, links and vegetable medley, plus usual waffles, dry cereals, oatmeal, some garnishes, pastries. Very friendly breakfast staff, answered questions happily. Was going to spend two nights, one after getting there, and then the next after we came back from Illinois, but they had a price increase for Friday nights, so we found another location, same quality for much less. Don't know why Friday nights are $40 more ($60 CDN)

This is the hotel we stay at every time we are in Kzoo. It's nice for the price. Have never had a problem. It's not the fanciest or as updated as it could be but it is overall a good hotel for the price.

The location is right off the highway, kind of in a business/residential district. It is a quick drive to campus. The breakfast was amazing, with a lot of great choices! The hotel is modern and clean, and the front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that my bed was too hard for my liking, but that was just my preference.

Hotel was clean and good pricing. I had 2 rooms for 2 nights, I was guaranteed over phone my rooms would be next to each other as I stressed the importance of it.. only to arrive and be told I am "out of luck because the previous employee didn't leave a note stating I needed rooms side by side (or across from one another)... and turned out I wasn't even on the same floor... 2 rooms on different floors.. very disappointing.

Staff was friendly and attentive to our needs. Lobby and breakfast area was clean. Pool water was warm and enjoyable. Hot tub and workout room were good. Breakfast was hot and good food. Room was cleaned quickly and good.

Made my reservation online. When I checked in the manager said he didn't know how I made the reservation cause the room wasnt available. He then said that he would give me a "king suite." Which is smaller than my original room. The jacuzzi had too mach chlorine in it. The owner kept walking around and staring at people in the pool area non stop. It was very creepy the breakfast sucked. I wouldn't stay here again.

I am an Adjunct Professor of Chemical and Paper Engineering on the faculty of Western Michigan University living on the beach in Florida - which brings me to Kalamazoo with regularity. The Best Western Plus Kalamazoo is 5 minutes from the WMU Parkview Campus and 10-15 minutes from the Main Campus. The hotel convenient, well maintained, comfortable with a professional, courteous and friendly staff. I recommend it for anyone visiting WMU - less expensive and much more convenient than the downtown Kalamazoo hotels.

I've already said how many we appreciate your employees and the quality work that they did for us. The food was awesome service awesome bed awesome... They went as far as being sure someone received their coats to passing out small gift bags for all of our guest. The pool area was wonderful the kids had a fun time the water was warm.

The room was very clean and the breakfast definitely put a smile on my face. I don't come to kalamazoo often but when I do, I will be staying at this beautiful property again. The staff is excellent, being super accommodating when I asked for extra towels and very prompt. They really hold themselves at a high standard to make sure you get the best experience possible. The breakfast had a great balance of healthy options and something for everyone to eat.

I had a fantastic time here with the attention of detail and just the vast options they provided for breakfast. They excelled in the name of hospitality and I will be referring them to friends and family whenever they come visit Kalamazoo as well. This is a well kept and respectable hotel.

Really clean room. Bonus:microwave, fridge, sink sport tournament ready. Plenty of room. Internet access easy. Pillows varied a bit from fluffy to flat. Quick to get into Kalamazoo, close to the Sweetwater Doughnut mill.

Recently stayed at BW+. I periodically do professional training in Kalamazoo and have stayed at a number of hotels in the area. This hotel provides good value for the money. My room was clean and well maintained. I will book another stay here again in the future.

for the price you would think they would keep it up NOPE i saw one person shooting up in the parking lot!! and i swear i saw a drug deal go down with the clerk!!!!! NEVER again!!! the blanket and sheets were not clean!!!! room was not cleaned to standards and for the rate id rather stay at a roach motel and it would of prob been nicer

Don't know if we'll stay at this property again unless we are reassured that the issues we encountered are corrected. We were moved 3 times. Each room had different problems. This was not what we expected from a BWPlus.

We stopped here for one night. The hotel and rooms had need recently remodeled. I'm not sure if they are going to do some more decorating - things looked a little stark. The bed was comfortable. When we arrived our room was absolutely freezing. We had to turn off the air conditioner and leave the room to wait for it to warm up.

over all it was a nice hotel. Quirky and odd, but nice and clean. Breakfast had some good choices (Some toppings for the eggs would have been nice). But they really hustled to keep it filled during the weekend breakfast. Rooms are HUGE! You could fit another bed in our room and we already had 2 tiny queen beds. Beds are comfy but small. I wouldn't say they're queens, maybe doubles. Cute Kitchenette, great for a long weekend and not wanting to eat out the entire time. Room could have had more light in it, it seemed lacking on one end it was dark. They could vacuum better, someone before us had a necklace or bracelet break, there were random beads on the floor around the bed and arm chair. Ironically nothing matches other rooms, my parents room had different furniture than us (They had an ottoman for their arm chair, we did not. They had different handles on faucets than us). The bathroom door is a fire door that auto closes behind you. We used the hair dryer bag to tie the door open while in our room. Shower pressure was a bit low, and you could hear outside the room, and room above you, but really enjoyed our stay over all.

Rooms were nice, tv controller worked well, had a night light, climate well maintained, kitchen sink cupboards, a desk, sofa, coffee table. Knocks, pool was cold. Nearly all complained about this. Good breakfast good price.

My children are college students in Kalamazoo and through the orientation and college search process we tried out many hotels in the area. We have found the Best Western to have the nicest rooms and breakfast. The cost may be a little higher but it is well worth it.

Loved how it was far enough from W U but close enough to get there fast. Room clean easy to get to. Staff was pleasant and helpful. A special shout out to Misty in the breakfast area. She was always checking to make sure people were getting what they wanted, when they wanted it. Great selection, for a "free breakfast" area. We will be back. Misty needs a big raise!

This hotel is in a very quiet location, and the staff was very friendly. We were having problems with our GPS and a quick call to the desk had us heading in the right direction. The room was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Our room was clean, large, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Saad at the front desk. The breakfast choices were good - waffles, eggs, sausage, potatoes, bagels, pastries, fruit, cereal, etc. However, they were out of orange juice both mornings, and ran out of apple juice also. I would stay here again.

This had all the amenities we needed for a family of 5 away from home. Grounds were clean and safe with ample parking. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. Beds were comfortable. Pool was clean and great fun. They may have too much chlorine in the pool, but that is better than the opposite.

The exterior of the hotel is quite nice, check in was a breeze, even thought I reserved 3 rooms for our large family. One room had hairs in the bathtub, one room had a noisy HVAC system, and in one room the bathroom ceiling caved in due to water problems on floor above. Restless night for us. The rooms are quite large at this hotel.

One of my first times staying at this hotel, I was surprised at their level of customer service and attentiveness for their guests. They were very welcoming and the check in process was very smooth. The rooms were HUGE and spotless! Furthermore, the mattress was very comfortable and slept quite well with no disturbances. That morning, I had a nice hot shower, with great pressure, and was greeted with a healthy breakfast. I was astonished at the staffs thoughtfulness to have so many options for breakfast such as accommodating individuals that are gluten free. These few things are something I don't usually see at a hotel. Lastly, the location is not to far away from Western Michigan University, and there are a few restaurants hidden away around the hotel, make sure to ask staff about it. All together, I highly recommend this hotel.

Right off the highway, checked in late staff was great ! Quick quiet and spacious and lots of Options for breakfast loved the French toast and scrambled eggs and the kids loved the fries, I would stay here when in kalamazoo again, housekeeping also did great cleaning my room during my stay!

Well as any chain brand all hotels seem like a decent choice now days but this one was different as the rooms are extremely spacious, The Breakfast Has alot of option even gluten free and milk for lactose intolerance people like myself which was great ! My basic needs are good service clean room and hot shower ! which were all their and the plus points being the variety for breakfast and spacious rooms. I also wanted to mention when i was checking in saad the front desk guy he needs a raise for his patients, their was a guest bringing down a ant claiming it to be something else lol and demanded a refund and etc people now days need to be respectful in regarding any complaint, But regardless he diffused the situation better than i could have, Also i spent some time talking to him at the desk not only did he have someone professional come out and take a look at that guys room to assure him it was not what he thought it was, That was quick to address a concern the same day, Not use to that efficiency at a hotel . I have stayed here about on and off 12 times now and great place, I usually dont write a review but Saad needed to get noticed.

As someone who travels often, I check for clean sheets, hot water, and a good breakfast. I received all of these things and more. Beds were comfortable, sheets clean/white/crisp, staff professional, breakfast ABOVE AND BEYOND (changed the menu 2x the weekend I stayed), and water hot in the morning. Will recommend to everyone and I will return. Thank you Best Western staff, keep up the good work.

The hotel was clean so were the rooms. Hot tub and pool were a nice way to relax after driving all day. we stopped there prior to heading out to Chicago . The room was very comfortable. The only issue I had was that the dresser was not leveled and the drawers would not stay closed.

Room was huge, clean, and very comfortable. Really good value. Also, very quiet for being next to the freeway. Breakfast was good, with a nice variety of food. Unfortunately, all of the cardio equipment in the exercise room was broken, kind of a bummer. A quality working treadmill and bike would be great, especially since there's no sidewalk around the hotel area for running.

This hotel is an excellent and reasonably priced place to stay when visiting Western Michigan University - especially the Parkview Campus. It has high speed internet, comfortable and well-maintained rooms, an indoor swimming pool and fitness room.

Room needs to be have better inspection and cleaned properly before allowing guests to stay. Have had better stays here before but disgusted upon finding several strands of someone else's hair when I pulled shower curtain back to take shower in the morning before leaving. Disappointed by price as well. Paid about 60% higher than I did about three weeks prior. I realize that previous stay was a Sunday night and this one was a Saturday night. I understand a higher price on a Friday / Saturday but didn't think it be that much. I will return to the area several times now that I have children that attend Western Michigan University (Go Broncos) and there are several hotels near the campus. I may have to check other places in the future.

Front Desk personnel unresponsive to request and concerns about my room and location of room. I Felt "dismissed". Also, found dirty linen/cleaning rag on shower rod, as well as, dirty/sticky task desk. Room was large, but Noisy. Pool area looked nice, but I did not use. BEST part of stay was breakfast. Good food, great variety, clean area and staff very helpful.

Hotel room was super clean, which is what I always look for. Room was large. Breakfast was average. Lots of kids staying making the pool and hot tub far too crowded for me to use. I suggest they add adults only hours.

Availability in Kalamazoo seems to be limited. After reviews, this choice was good for the locatywe needed. Very nice service, room was clean, housekeeping was accommodating. The breakfast was standard but the coffee was excellent.

Let me start out by saying we have stayed at this property several times. The one this past weekend will be our last. Horrible experience from the second we drove into the parking lot. Parking lot was in hazardous condition, filled with snow and ice. To summarize our experience, front desk worker, Saad, was extremely rude (over a half dozen complaints about him per another employee on that day alone), our heat was broken in our room and nobody seemed to care, there was garbage from the last family in our room left in our room and our we had to wait over a half hour to even get a room even though we arrived at the hotel after 3pm. If one person would have apologized for our inconvenience, it would have made a huge difference, but all I was told was that the hotel was full and they were very busy. There are so many hotels near this area. I would recommend trying one of them.

We checked in this afternoon at Best Western Plus Kalamazoo Suites in Kalamazoo, MI and experienced racial profiling. When my wife went to the desk to check the person working at the front desk repeatedly asked her “ how many people will be in the room.” She politely told him “4, 2 adults 2 children “. He proceeded to require her to sign a “no party waiver” before he would allow her to complete the check process. He told her that was standard practice. She complied with signing it and completed the check in process. Once I parked the car and came in I needed to stop at the desk. While I was waiting I witnessed 2 white men check into 2 different rooms and he never asked either of them how many people nor did he require them to sign a waiver. He only asked each of them “ how many keys” they needed. Later theis evening while talking with some others that traveled with us we made a disturbing discovery. All the black people that checked in were repeatedly asked how many people will be staying in their rooms. They all were required to sign this no party waiver. All the white people in our party that checked in were simply asked “how many keys ?”‬

My daughter and her children were bitten by bedbugs. ( and no, we did not bring them) She was given a refund and money to run all of their belongings in hot drier. The puzzling thing was, the room was rented out the next night. Hope the Mom and her kids were not visited with critters.

Very large room with small kitchenette that has a refrigerator, microwave and sink in room. Bathroom was small but functional. Typical breakfast area and food. Must initial a waive that said "No Pets, No Smoking and No Parties in the room". Only concern was that I call the local number to inform them that I would be arriving late and no one answered the phone. Tried two times. Finally called the 800 number for Best Western and had them inform the hotel. Had me worried for a time.

This hotel is clean and pretty updated. There was a shortage of pool towels and the pool was cold. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The elevator needs to be serviced it is a little scary and noisy.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The only negative think is just a preference of mine, is the eggs at breakfast, wish they were scrambled instead of the egg looking like a fried egg over hard. Room neat and clean. Website makes you think your room has a sofa bed in it. Don't count on it. The free breakfast is good bait to stay there. Now the quality of the free breakfast is that of a 3rd world jail. Good coffee and orange juice. Many others around us in dinning area were not happy with quality of food, but that area was neat and clean. If your staying there for the free breakfast, "don't".

I am Adjunct Professor of Chemical and Paper Engineering on the faculty of Western Michigan University. I travel to Kalamazoo to lecture, teach short courses and for R&D work in the pilot plant. The Best Western Plus Kalamazoo Suites is convenient to both the Parkview and main campus, The hotel is well maintained, and the rooms are comfortable, and the staff is professional, courteous and friendly. The hotel has a pool, exercise room and complimentary breakfast. It is an economical alternative to the Radisson in downtown and the Delta Hotel next door (new name for the fromer Holiday Inn).

On the second night of our stay, beginning at about 5:00 am and lasting until approximately 7:00 am, the guests above us were walking back and forth repeatedly for 2 hours - it seemed like a lot of people. The issue was soundproofing - or lack of! I heard every step for 2 hours of the guests above us and this made it impossible to sleep further! Normally we have a very positive experience at this hotel (have stayed here on several occasions in the past, great location to WMU) but this was loud and the hotel staff's response not helpful.

Booked one night after stopping in Kalamazoo. We enjoyed our stay here! The bed was so soft and thick pillow top mattress with lots of pillows! We slept like babies ! The citrus scented soaps & shampoos was nice. The suite had a lot of space and it was clean and we enjoyed our stay here! There is a coffee stand with 3 flavoured creamer choices and Folgers coffee & teas. Nice touch to grab a coffee when you check out or have a cup evenings. The breakfast was fresh waffles, sausages, boiled eggs, bagels, seasoned potatoes, juice, coffee, cereals , oatmeal, etc. Lots of choice. Only negative thing was the elevator did not sound great... maybe needs a check to fix the sounds or oiling... We enjoyed evening time in the hot tub by the pool. Other people did use the swimming pool but I found it a bit cool. No problems with our stay .

Was looking to try out a new hotel for my trip since my previous hotel was falling in quality every single visit. Room had plenty of space, bed was decent, came with a counter top, fridge to store leftovers, and other standard room amenities (coffee maker, work desk, TV). Have to plan around when you shower since you are fighting with every other guest for hot water (found out the hard way and had to wait 20 minutes for hot water at 7:10 in the morning). Would estimate it about standard for the brand of hotel. Location is close to freeway and WMU. Plenty of restaurants within a 2-10 minute drive depending on what you are looking for. I rely on workout facilities inside the hotel to maintain my activity while I travel for business (especially in the winter time). I WOULD NOT recommend this place. Workout facilities were absolutely horrible. One treadmill, bike, and elliptical for the entire hotel (not even the critical problem). The equipment felt like cheap knock-off brand quality that had not been maintained in years. Every step on the treadmill made a loud crunching sound as if the plastic was gonna break and your foot was gonna punch through frame (for context I'm almost 200lbs and run half marathons, I'm familiar enough with what it feels to run on a treadmill). Just starting slow the belt slipped with every step while walking, I refused to even try running out of fear of slipping and injuring myself. Other equipment not well maintained. Couldn't adjust intensity of the bike, elliptical did not have power. Checking out didn't go smoothly. I need the receipt to track my expenses for work. Printer wasn't working (I get it, sometimes you experience trouble). Let me email with the attendant at the desk and expected to get an email copy (over a week later, and still nothing). Tried calling and was told to call back within a specific window to get them to print me out a receipt (8am-2pm)!? Ridiculous! Would not recommend to any local businesses trying to impress customers or business traveling to Kzoo for work.

had a family emergency and spent most of the day at the hospital, we were there 4 days the room a facility was very clean, there was no noise from pool area even though it was full. pretty sound proof from rooms it was very nice, would definitely recommend and return breakfast was also good

I practically lived here for three weeks. The rooms are spacious, the furniture could stand to be replaced (come on corporate!), but the staff is the best place about this hotel. Saad, Diane, Anna, Mary, Nikki, Sunshine make this Best Western Plus the best place to stay in KZoo Michigan. I hear the rooms are even spacier than the Radisson. The pool and hot tub are indoors and open till 10pm; you'll need a much needed soak from the cool Michigan fall and winters. The hotel is clean, but it deserves an upgrade in some pieces of furniture; couches, love seats and mattresses. The breakfast is consistent and ample. But again, the staff is what makes this place as warm as it is, I would stay here again just to get to wake up, or head in for the night knowing they've got my back.

This was a very clean, safe and friendly hotel. The rooms were very nice and actually smelt clean, the staff were very helpful. The only problem I had was the hot tub I didn't feel it was hot enough. Front desk personal very nice.

Toilet wouldn't flush. Night shift worker called his manager then said he didn't have access to a plunger and to turn the water off at the wall. I asked to be moved to a different room, but they were booked up. Woke up to water all over the bathroom floor as the toilet also runs every few minutes. The room was literally right next to the elevator. It looks like a maintenance room should have been put there. The elevator was one of the loudest I've ever heard which made it tough to fall asleep. The uncomfortable bed did not help either. Spoke to a manager at checkout and they didn't seem to really care about the terrible stay.

Huge room, great service! We especially appreciated that the room was made ready for us an hour early, as we needed to get ready for a wedding at 3pm! Thank you to Saad who provided extra blankets for us and sheets for the couch bed. He is so friendly and courteous, and we appreciated his help! We'd definitely stay here again. My wife and I stayed at this property for one night and came away very satisfied. It was a little hard to find but that may contribute to how quiet it was. We booked a suite and it was huge with a great living/dining area, a very acceptable bathroom, and a large sleeping area with a king size bed. The room was clean and quiet. We did not partake in the free breakfast but had absolutely no complaints about our stay. We would not hesitate to book a room at this property should our travels take us to Kalamazoo in the future.

After driving around to 3 different hotels in the area that were run down with "seedy" people hanging around the lots we stumbled on the BW Plus. The outside area was very clean and the inside just as clean. The room was very nice and comfortable. It had one the best breakfast buffets I had in a long time. The check in staff was GREAT and helpful with dinner referrals. My only issue was the elevator was very slow and our bathroom door in our room was a heavy steal door that wouldn't stay open. Other than that it was GREAT!

I had a blast made all types of new friends of all backgrounds. So Go Now to Kalamazoo... P.S. The BBQ is the bomb and I'm from North Carolina. ??

This hotel is very pleasant,the staff were polite and helpful, the appearance of the hotel presents it self as clean and organized ,our room was great,the bed was comfortable and the supplies in the bathroom were up to date.Most enjoyable.

We checked in and the desk attendant, Saad, went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Our room was exactly what we needed since my wife and I are both mobility impaired. Our room, and the Hotel in general, was spotless. The provided breakfast was average but kept hot and stocked up. We would most definitely stay here again!

We rented two King Suites; one for my son's family of five, and one for us. We have stayed at this location before and always have a great time. Our grandsons, 9, 7 and 3 enjoyed the "magin beds" (fold-out sofas). The staff was able to book our rooms next to one another which made it great for the kids to run between rooms. We also enjoyed have a "picnic in one of the rooms wince they are so spacious! Thanks BW for always meeting our expectations.

The night before staying at this hotel, we stayed at a Best Western Plus hotel in Woodstock, Ontario. This hotel was at the opposite end of the scale, with the previous hotel rated at five stars. The building is very nice, and the rooms are large. However, the hotel is not adequately managed, maintained, and it is not clean. For example, a sticky drink was spilled in the elevator and this wasn't cleaned up for many hours. When it was moped up, the floor mat remained with the sticky remains still underfoot. Our room was not clean, and without even a TV channel listing or hotel information. The service in the hotel was somewhere between indifferent to abrupt, not at all helpful. It seems to me that this property is going to deteriorate quickly if management and maintenance isn't improved. You can do much better than this hotel in my opinion.

Had a very upsetting experience with front desk staff at this hotel. The girl was rude and snippy with me. She sat on the phone on a personal call discussing her kids and guys for almost 10 minutes while I stood waiting to be helped, dripping wet from the rain. When I finally walked up in front of her, she told me she was on s business call and turned her back to me. After two interactions that were rude, I cancelled my reservation and went to the holiday inn next door. They were polite and helpful, and told me they had seen numerous customers come to their hotel after negative experiences with the best western.

Arrived at the hotel after many hours of driving only to find out that there was an issue with the way I made the reservation. Seems that I did not do it correct and was about to be charged for 2 rooms. Not sure what happened, but seniors are not the best with the electronic gizmos that the younger set is. Not to fear, Kurtisha stepped right into the fray, got the wife and I registered into one room and promised to fix the mess I had made making the reservations. The wife and I went up to the room to rest and get settled, that did not last very long at all. Once we opened the door and saw the wonderful room that we were given we could not believe our eyes. Kurtisha had given us an update and never said anything. I went right back down to the desk and she shyly said that it was for the embarrassment that I had on my face when I told her I had messed up the reservation. We had a great stay, the breakfast was excellent and of course Kurtisha had gone way out and beyond to help us enjoy our stay. It is nice to see a business that employees folks that reach beyond their own issues to assist and help others. We will be back!! Rowland Gaines

It is a shame that we arrived to a filthy suite with multiple areas clearly not cleaned. Kitchenette was completely sticky everywhere you touched - even the floor. Nightstands were visibly dusty & had sticky water rings where someone's cup had been. Leftover toothpaste on bathroom faucet from the last guest. The desk person attended us, but made it seem like this is a frequent occurrance because instead of a shocked apology, she simply asked, "is it bad?" Truly a shame because it could have been a real enjoyable stay. Instead we were glad it was only one night.

I enjoyed my stay. The hotel looks refreshed. The beds were comfortable but the housekeeper could have made the bed better. If I pass through I would stay again. They have all the regular stuff, free breakfast, internet, etc etc.

We wanted to get out of the everyday blah... So I said... Son after school were going to the best western! I told my friend and he told his friends.. We had a pool party on a Tuesday! We both played hooky the next day!

Thew hotel is a bit upscale with bedding, towels, tissue and soap of a higher quality than than found in level two establishments. You can set the temperature in your room via a thermostat, and the entrances to each room is a carpeted interior hall. Breakfast is fine --you'd probably spend ten bucks per person if you went to a restaurant. Employees were courteous.

75% of staff were so friendly. It was a celebration on so many special levels. My BFF received a new heart due to congenital heart defect. And fun for my granddaughters to have a mini spring break vacation. The check out attendant was very rude and short with us. But, we shrugged it off. We will return to best Western in future. But, would be nice that the front desk staff had manners.

We stayed here for a weekend during a soccer tournament. The check-in was easy & the staff very welcoming. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and appeared to have been recently remodeled. We did have an issue with our thermostat, but the front desk immediately offered to give us a different room, but also offered a troubleshooting idea, which worked. The pool area was clean and fun for the kids and offered comfortable chairs for the adults.

Would stay here again. Staff very helpful. Breakfast was good for a free breakfast and stocked well. Only issue was bathroom tub drained slow and the door has gaps so you see light when you try and sleep.

Best Western in Kalamazoo is easy to get to, a nice place to stay, close to everything, they have comfortable beds, good size rooms with pull-out couch & kitchen available. Morning breakfast is an added bonus.

Normally when I think of Best Western I think of cheap, older, and pretty generic motel, not a hotel. At least at this location, I was dead wrong. The place seems to have been recently remodeled, a full hot breakfast, fantastically helpful and friendly staff, and a decent location. Very happy here and would return if needed. A few issues I had - a ceiling light in my room was only partially attached and hanging crooked. The bathroom door automatically shuts, so I blocked it open with a towel. The lightswitch cover in the bathroom was cracked and mounted weird, the trim for the exhaust fan was completely missing. There is a lightswitch in the room that did nothing, as well. These are cosmetic issues and won't stop me from returning or recommending. The beds were very firm, bordering on hard to be honest. However, I prefer a firm mattress and was comfortable. Not a bad place at all!

Hot tub down, elevator out of service, low stocked store with no vending machine, crumbs on bed upon arrival, cable satellite that goes in and out. Accompanied by unapologetic staff who looked like they hated their job. The best part was breakfast, especially the potatoes. The size and lay out of rooms, outstanding.

Stayed over on a spring break road trip with family. Front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. Hotel is older, in good shape, but could definitely use an update. Floors are squeaky so if possible get a top floor. Would give a 5 but the people walking above us made quite a bit of noise. Breakfast was good for a hotel.

Stayed 3/10/18 for a business trip. The room was very well appointed and super clean. The hotel has a very nice pool and very nice breakfast on the weekends. One downfall was that we stayed in room 308 which is right next to the elevator. There was a gap at the top of the door so when someone was standing at the elevator talking, it was as if they were in our room. I would stay here again, but make sure that I'm away from the elevator.

We just left here. Awesome stay! Big room, very clean room, didn't hear noise from anyone else and check in was quick, friendly staff and nice pool (with toys for the kids) and hot tub for the parents. One of the best places we have stayed in.

I stayed here whilst visiting WMU and found the rooms well appointed and clean. The reception staff was customer focused and very accommodating. I would stay here again. There is a complimentary breakfast included.

I loved staying at Best Western Plus in Kalamazoo! It was like a home away from home. The fridge, microwave and sink were a nice bonus. Everything was clean and comfortable. We also enjoyed the pool. They kept up with the parking lot during a big snow storm!! Well done!!

Stay was ruined at check in. Employee was on her cell phone the whole check in process, barely spoke to us. Elevator was out of order and she put us on 4th floor. We are seniors and had to drag our luggage up the stairs, no offer of help.

This is that rare hotel with good lighting in the room and accessible electrical outlets everywhere you could possibly want them - both sides of the bed, behind and on the desk, behind the table, beside the couch and in the mini kitchen area. There is a fridge, a microwave and a coffee machine next to a small kitchen type sink. The hotel also has an indoor swimming pool of a reasonable size with a hot tub, and a small gym. The breakfast was good too, not just cereal and pastries but hot eggs, breakfast sausage and home fries. Plus waffles, yoghurt and fruit etc. We really enjoyed our stay here - thank you!

This is now our "Go To" hotel when we head to Kalamazoo. The staff is always friendly and now recognizes us when we walk in the door. Although we don't always get a chance, we try to make use of the pool and other amenities when we stay.

We've stayed here several times and will continue to do so as long as my son is at WMU. Great hotel, big rooms, comfy beds, excellent location to WMU campus. The room is nicely decorated and clean and is the bathroom. The lobby is warm and inviting with a fireplace.

I have stayed at this hotel for decades while participating in events at Western Michigan University. It is located less than two miles from the Parkview Campus which features the Engineering School, Pilot Plants and Research Park. This is an excellent hotel with bargain rates. I recommend it to my consulting clients when we are running pilot plant trials. It is also convenient to the WMU Main Campus as restaurants on Stadium Drive.

I travel with my elderly and frail Mom. The King Suite made the stay comfortable for both of us. Having a bedroom separate from the living room/kitchenette allowed her comfort while going to bed early and still allowed me the comfort of staying up later, watching television and reading. Finding a reasonably priced suite isn't easy. This is a wonderful option in the Kalamazoo area.

Great place to stay. Staff and cleanliness was excellent. Will stay there again. Already have a booked another room for New Years . The breakfast was also very worth the stay. I have stayed in many hotels. This was by far the best. Enjoyed the amenities. The indoor pool is very clean and nice as is the fitness room.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel Thanksgiving night due to spending time with family. The room was not clean, lots of things in need of repair. Room was huge, a suite. The biggest complaint was the noice coming from hallway, kids running up and down hallway and adults talking loud until well past midnight! We went down for breakfast and the area was messy and not appetizing.

The room was very dark needed brighter bulbs. The elevator was very slow and very loud. Bed was so so. Staff was very helpful with the children needing rooms for team lunch and doing hair and makeup. Breakfast was good.

Rooms were very clean. Front desk staff was rude and was constantly texting while people were checking in. Acted bothered when asked questions. Lobby was cozy. Pool was not useable. Breakfast was reasonably fresh.

Witnessed a drug deal right by my parking spot. - Old blood stains on the sheets and mascara on the towels. - NO HOT WATER in the showers. - Over chlorinated pool and green hot tub. - Very noisy. Car was honking horn for 3 min at 9:30 pm near the front desk. Thin walls so you can hear loud people in the hall and above you.

The Best Western Plus Kalamazoo on 11th Street has some of the finest Premium suites I have ever stayed in. The bedroom has a King bed with a big screen TV and bathroom. The living room is completely separate and has a sofa/couch another large screen TV and a kitchen area. The suite is very large and can accommodate a nice family gathering for those traveling from out of town. It is located near US 131 and WMU. Great location and a better suite.

everything was top notch, check in, breakfast, suite, pool and check out. well worth the money and the location cant be beat. asked for extra towels- no problem. hot tub was hot and super soothing after a long day of tripping around kazoo.. free newspaper and the breakfast attendants made sure everything was just the way yo like it...

My gf n I got a king suite. Hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. My gf said at one point “I wish we had like 6 more pill we. “. So I called the front desk and in 5 minutes 6 more pillows showed up haha. Clean and quiet, close to everything in Kalamazoo. Definitely would stay here again. Well done BW.

Very good breakfast which included some good protein selections. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The Double queen suite was excellent to have a space for friends from other rooms to gather. Noisy guests above us but that was not the fault of the hotel.

I enjoyed staying at this hotel. I liked the extra space it offers. I was here for a meeting so it was convenient. The breakfast was a bit repetitive but that's honestly like that everywhere. If i am back in Kalamazoo I would consider coming back here.

We visit Kalamazoo every year for the WMU Homecoming. We had an amazing time. The rooms are clean and spacious. My family will be back again next year. They have the standard breakfast offerings, my daughter loves the pancakes.

Best bang for the buck. $119 for a two-room suite that included a full kitchen (full -size fridge, sink, counter with stove top, and microwave). Place was clean, help was friendly and efficient. Another thing I liked is there are patio sets under covered areas for the smokers. Continental breakfast was sub-par quality though.

the food was not good for breakfast and the lack of food it was stale and not good at all the pool was not clean and no extra blanket for the pull out bad . I have stayed many times and not had any trouble before . It is very close to my daughter so its its conveinant for me

I was only in Kalamazoo because the transmission in my car went on our way back to Canada, from Chicago, and I had to wait for Honda (USA and Honda Canada) to sort out the warranty stuff and get it fixed. As such, I didn't know how many nights I would be staying, so I was booking one night at a time (I sent my wife home on the train, so this hotel stay was for just me). I actually checked into the hotel on October 9th. My first night's room (king bed, room 218) was clean and did the trick. However, one of the giant hotel spotlights was right outside my room/window, and even with the curtains closed, my room was still quite bright all night. October 10th, I moved to room 411 on the other side of the hotel with no spotlights shining in my room. When closing my curtains mid-day, I killed one bug (junebug, perhaps?) and didn't think much of it. I went to sleep around 1130, and woke up around 130am with something crawling on me. I quickly turned the lights on and knocked 3 bed bugs off of me. In moving the excess pillows off the bed, I found 2 more. I went to reception and asked for a new room/my money back (so I could go elsewhere), and was given access to room 305 (2x queen beds). I went there and tore the bed apart to make sure it was clean, which it was, and ultimately moved my stuff at close to 2am in the morning. However, try going back to sleep after waking up this way. In looking around Kalamazoo for other accommodations, unfortunately (for me) I was unable to find anything. October 11th, I stayed once more in Room 305, but certainly on high alert for more critters. Luckily my vehicle was ready first thing the next morning (Oct 12), so I was able to hightail it out of there. The day staff was pleasant and helpful. While the night staff was 'OK', anytime I passed through the lobby, it absolutely stunk of cigarette smoke. If I hadn't seen her standing right outside the doors smoking, I would have though she was smoking at the front desk. During one of my trips to the Front Desk, she opened the door and told me she'd be right there to assist me (she had to finish her smoke). Not a good location either - There are no food options (other than a gas station) within 1-2 KM, and no sidewalks to/from the hotel. While I hope I never have to travel to Kalamazoo again, I certainly will not return to this Best Western. When I figure out where else to share this feedback, I plan to do so -- it was not a pleasant experience, to say the least.

If I could give a -100, I would. I rarely right reviews of hotels, even when I have bad experiences, and I have had a couple. But this just had to be the worst experience, in fact at some point I thought someone was playing a practical joke on me. First off, I could barely sleep at night because the room I was in had some weird large bugs, I'm no scientist but they are outdoor bugs that are attracted to light at night. So, I was okay with killing the first one, but then two, three, four, five. It became too much, and they are very loud bugs so when they fly around, it keeps you up at night. I took some pictures of these insects. So I spent a good chunk of my night waking up to these insects. Anyway, what did it for me was the housekeeping stuff. If you could rate the worlds most unprofessional housekeeping staff, you will find them here. Very loud, they woke me up in the morning because I could hear them talking in the hallway. They were using curse words as they spoke to each other, and they were just unreasonably loud. Very unprofessional. Now this is where it got worse for me: One of them starts playing music on their phone, and starts singing/raping to the song. Now, I would be okay if they were humming, and the music wasn't too loud, but they were singing quite loud, obnoxiously loud, and this said song had profanity, so if I had kids with me, I can only imagine the horror. This was by far my worst experience, especially because I've stayed in this hotel in the past and I always loved it, in fact it used to be my favorite hotel in Kalamazoo. I left the hotel feeling very, very disappointed.

This is my #1 location to stay wen I'm in Kalamazoo. The rooms are spacious will excellent amenities. Also made use of the indoor pool. Breakfast is very good and varied making it hard to not find something for everyone. Will definitely stay again.

I'm a gold member with Best Western and found this hotel was not at the level of a plus. We saw several rooms, all updated except for the beds which sagged horribly. I'm not sure Best Western would approve of this at their base level. Our shower was tepid at best and the management replied the water heater guys were there looking into it. The management was unable to offer a satisfactory discount because there was no management on the site. For those who watch my reviews you'll see we had a few bad hotel stays this trip. I wish it had been different but the reality is that the bed is central to a hotel stay and the rooms we were shown all had very old beds with obvious depressions in the beds with a high edge at the side. We wound up with a room with one good bed and the other shot and had to settle for it given how late it was. The front desk was very responsive and understanding and even called up to make sure things were okay and offered to keep trying other rooms. Again there was no management in the morning to properly offset the cost. I will follow up with Best Western directly. If you are accustomed to BW plus this spot does not rise to that standard yet. The bed seems to be the last remaining upgrade needed as well as hot water for the shower. The staff was great and the upgrades are coming along. I would not stay here without confirming a new mattress was in place.

Don't stay here if you expect there to be food available during their posted breakfast hours. Front desk clerk is in serious need of some customer service skills. My family had gone down to breakfast at 9:30 (breakfast hours ran until 10am) there was not enough hot or cold food for the three of us (2 pcs of sausage in the whole pan, no eggs - pan empty, no bagels, minimal toast, 2 muffins, milk empty, pancake machine broken, etc) when I complained to front desk -clerk simply rolled her eyes at me and said "well there's only one person working over there". No apology, nothing! Other guests said it was the same the morning before so that must just be how they roll. I always enjoyed staying there when in Kalamazoo but I sure won't next time!

Shower did not have hot running water. they stated they had issues with the water in the morning. they took money off my bill to account for no hot water. Overall was satisfied. was a clean hotel and work the money.

This location gave us easy access to our destinations. Staff very friendly and helpful in making our stay a great one. Hotel accommodations very nice. We did have one small issue during our stay but staff and management resolved it very quickly and exceeded our expectations.

The hotel was OK. The sofa bed was uncomfortable (my body was resting on the metal supports - not enough mattress thickness to eliminate the metal supports coming through). The hot breakfast was too limited in selection - cooked eggs and biscuits and gravy. The self-serve pancake maker was not working all 3 days. The water dispenser was not working.

This BW exceeded our expectations ,,it was clean, lovely room, well maintained grounds,,hall carpets clean,,fresh smelling,,no over flowing trash cans outside.The staff was very helpful and they all looked very clean and I did not see them standing right outside the hotel smoking,,I HATE walking thur the staffs smoke,,,right outside the doors.

Stayed here one night two adults and four kids under 10yrs old while driving between Ontario and Illinois. Wit was a pleasant stay, seemed clean, pool was crowded and a bit murky but the room and service was excellent; it was an affordable and comfortable stay.

Room was great, pool was fine, breakfast was okay, however location of hotel is a little hidden. Had to take several backroada off of I-94 to get to the hotel. Staff were mostly friendly. Elevator was slow.

Clean and comfortable. Reasonable price and good location. Breakfast, Internet & parking incl. Lots of options for breakfast including a do-it-yourself pancake machine. Boiled eggs of fried (very hard fried). Good biscuits and gravy. Fruit, bagels, etc. Good location. Near Western Michigan University sports expansions and, a short drive to Kalamazoo downtown, Oakwood area, or Portage. Internet worked fine, plenty of parking, helpful staff. Only negative was a pool towel left in the elevator remained all evening and part of the next morning. Room was large and clean.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The Breakfast is adequate. Jeannie who works on Mon and Tues does an excellent job. The furniture does need some updating. the mattress does have dips in it and the couch is not very comfortable. The kitchen area needs better lighting.

Dont stay here unless you have to. What else can Is ay its dirty and dark and smelly. Dont stay unless you have to. This hotel needs to be updated badly. It looks like they spent some money on lobby, but you dont stay in the lobby. its a facade.

Nothing like arriving to a dirty room... especially for the ridiculous price. Bathroom was dirty, beds uncomfortable with giant dips in them, elevator was out of service temporarily and seemed to be on its last leg.

We had a wonderful stay here. The staff is always helpful. We only had one issue this time. One television in the suite had volume issues. We asked 3 times for it to be fixed, but it never got resolved.

Good hotel, excellent staff. Very Clean, good amenities. We were there for a funeral and having a no hassle check in and a comfortable room made the situation better. Would return for leisure visit. Much better then the last hotel we stayed in!!!!

House keeping came and vacuumed that was absolutely it. They did not grab the dirty towels or make the beds. While I was gone a resident came and knocked on my door complaining of noise, however it was just a normal 3 and 5 year boys. My mother there grandmother was there with them. Thank God I was not because things would not have been good!

I would stay there again. Everything was very good. They were busy for Sunday night which is weird. The telephone booking wasn't handled well directly at the location, so I went through the Best Western main reservations. That was fine. Hotel was great though.

This hotel met all our expectations and more. We were a family of 4 and found the location and amenities excellent The room was spacious and accommodated my daughter and granddaughters very comfortably.

I got to town late and needed a room, the front desk staff got me a great room and price. The pool was kept open late because our kids wanted to swim. The breakfast was ready early and the coffee was on 24/7. I used the washer and dryer both worked great.

Average hotel - Not as publicized or as reviewed. Room lighting was very low, rooms did not lock properly. Breakfast miss the variety. Same menu all the days. Lift is a joke and makes lot of noise and shakes. Walls are thin and you could hear anything happening next door and outside - people using lift, slamming and knocking doors

Quiet and we really enjoyed the hot Breakfast! We plan to return in the Fall 2017. I felt the price of the room was reasonable and it was very clean and updated. We travel to Michigan twice a year and will stay here again!!

Tristan made my reservation, called me back FROM HOME to answer my questions regarding my reservations and she was there (like she promised) to greet us with a smile when we arrived. I will be back to see her (like I promised) the next time I'm in town.

You should really visit this hotel and all the workers show kindness and compation to the costermers and becca (one of the greatest people) helped the most. She is really social while doing her job you can tell she loves to do it.

BW Kalamazoo is conveniently located near WMU. Its very clean and the staff members are very friendly. I love the larger rooms and kitchen amenities. The beds are very comfortable and we enjoyed being able to kickback and watch TV from the sofa rather than the bed. Just like home!

Was traveling for work and was satisfied with this hotel. Was automatically upgraded to a bigger room because of the length of my stay and had more than enough room (king bed, sofa, small kitchen area). Staff were friendly and accommodating. Would stay here again in the future.

The rain and gloom were undaunting. What better place to enjoy a daughter and three year old granddaughter! Our two rooms were a wonderful size for convievel socialization. The pool and hot tub were the focus of laughter and relaxation.

Not bad, spacious room but needs a good cleaning, a complete overhaul. Curtains could use attention. If they would look around they couldn't miss what needs to be cleaned. Loved the lobby very spacious.

Reasonable priced hotel with good amenities and and great location next to all major stores. Hot Breakfast was good and the pool was excellent, my kid enjoyed the stay very much. Would definitely recommend this hotel and if there is a chance would stay at this hotel.

The front desk gal, Becca, was dealing with a difficult customer when we arrived to check in. We were very impressed at how she handled the situation. The room we were put in was very nice. We will definitely return.

We stayed here some time back, but it is new and improved. We were delighted with our room, which was spacious, tastefully decorated and very clean. The breakfast area was large, airy and offered a wide variety of food for all appetites. Definitely on our repeat visit list.

We stayed on a satruday and sunday. Our kids loved the hotel, thats the most important thing. Breakfast was nice, they have pancakes and toppings, etc. Our daughter just started at KVCC so we will definietly be back.

The hotel was clean and staff was friendly. The rooms were also very spacious. We enjoyed swimming in the pool and the breakfast was also very nice. I would recommend this hotel to others coming to Kalamazoo area.

Good potential but some kinks to work out, need a more thorough cleaning crew. There are options for gathering with group including a conference room. Seems to attract a mixed crowd which only became an issue during the wee hours of the night...

The ac/heater did not work and the towels were yellow in color. Tried calling the desk no one answeres. Went downstairs rang bell wanted for about 10 min and then left. Bed was bumpy. It was ok for just an ovwrnight. Breakfast was nothing special. Hotel staff was nice. The Wi-Fi worked really good.

Very nice stay, reasonably priced for the value. Clean and comfy beds, too! Came here to visit my daughter at Western, staff was accommodating and felt safe staying there alone. Would stay there again .

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, the room was immaculate and comfortable. The included breakfast buffet was very nice with an excellent variety of items that were kept fresh and well stocked. The location is very close to Western which was our destination.

Made reservation on First Merit cc. by the time of my trip Huntington bought out First Merit. Guy at check in would not except new cc as it was not the card room was made. Also wouldn't except rate. He couldn't rationalize that bank reissued cards. Also room smelled terribly of weed and I had two babies with me. Food smashed into carpet, someone's used soap still in the shower, pizza crust on the business table. We addressed issues with same check in guy. It took 4 hours to get someone to re clean the room. Pool area had mold around edges of walls and floor. Very disappointed

This location is beautiful, very clean, and Jim and the entire staff made our stay comfortable and pleasant. They went out of their way to accommodate our needs with the friendliest services. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to future stays.

Overall, a good stay. Convenient location with decent price, close to restaurants, shopping and Miller Auditorium. Pool area was clean, as was guest room. Kitchen area, definitely a plus. Parking is sufficient.

Our stay here was very nice once again. The breakfast was on point especially with the biscuits and gravy and we slept peacefully. The pool wasn't open so that was disappointing but it was understandable as it was being freshly painted.

We needed a simple affordable stop while attending a wedding. Halls and lobby look like they have been recently remodeled. The rooms are a little long in the tooth. No decor. Bathroom is a little dated and some fixtures need maintenance. Toilet Paper holder was falling out of the wall. Breakfast area was nice and the food met expectations. Overall this was a little below my expectations of the BestWestern Brand The desk staff were friendly checking in and out.

In town for conference and end up here as an overflow. Very pleased with the room and the staff was great. Had to wait a bit for the hot water each day but we enjoyed our stay. Breakfast is outstanding.

Great room, comfortable beds, quiet area of town but easy access to freeways and shopping. Would absolutely stay here again. The housekeeping staff went out of their way to be helpful with more towels and coffee pods. The size of the room was great.

I had read plenty of reviews that were not very good on this hotel. I was surprised. I had a clean and nice room. I didn't see any of the issues people were talking about. I think it was just remodeled, maybe that was the difference. I will stay here again

I use to stay here every time I was in Kalamazoo. I was so sad when I found out we are no longer welcome because our occupation we always have dogs with us and their change in policy of no longer welcoming dogs left us looking for a new place to stay....On September 2 however we were in Michigan dropping a dog off, It was the start of labor day week end and the traffic was horrible so we decided to stay at our favorite Hotel. Like always the staff was friendly and accommodating . Our room was clean and comfortable. We were one the fourth floor which was perfect for Friday night. We were so happy at check out when the staff had express how much they have miss us it was good feeling to know they missed us staying there as much as we miss staying here. As well as they missed our beautiful well behaved dogs. Thank you for letting us know we are missed.

Booked a suite for two nights. Newly remodeled. New carpet, paint TV. The old still shows through. They are still working on it. Staff were great. Breakfast was good. Room was clean as was the rest of the property. The furniture was worn. The "suite" was roomy but not put together well. Lots of unused space. I would stay again as I think it was a bargain. Location is great just off 131 yet in a quite neighborhood. Lots of food and breweries nearby. We used uber to do our "crawl".

after being on the road for almost two weeks and staying at only best western hotels this was by far the best -BW hotel of all I would recommend this BW hands down. If and when I ever venture back that way I will definitely plan on staying there again

The rooms were very clean and spacious. Check in process was good, lots of people checking in at one time. The had a problem with the key making machine, had to return to the front deck several times over the weekend. All in all a good facility and I would stay here again.

This was a nice place to stay. Close to freeway, clean, friendly staff. No problems to speak of. Signage to hotel was not too evident, so we drove past the street. But, it was easy to find our way back to it. Would stay here again if in the area.

This hotel is nearing completion on remodeling. Room was spacious and modern. The lobby is large and inviting, and the staff was professional and courteous. Parking was ample. Many good rstaurants nearby.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights recently when I was in town for business. The outside was not overly appealing and there were crews outside as they were renovating the hotel. I was surprised when I walked in to find that the hotel was very appealing on the inside. The front desk was very helpful and efficient to check in with and at checkout I was very pleased as they made quick work as I had to catch a 5:00 a.m. flight. I have zero complaints about the room as it was very nice and comfortable. The continental breakfast was more than adequate. There was noise from the construction but that is going to happen when you want to upgrade and I had no issue with it as it was all during the day. The only negative was the elevator was very slow and I kept thinking it was going to get stuck. They also offered in my opinion an excellent rate. I plan on staying here each time I am in town.

We visit regularly Kalamazoo because it is the site of the Medieval Conference in May for 4 years now,. Clean, nice hotel with the helpful stuff. Rooms are spacious, clean, equipped with refrigerators and microwaves. Hot tub is just a bonus.

My wife and I stayed here recently and we both loved the room. Microwave and fridge in a large room. Room was clean and beds and bedding were above average. Good location and great prices make this hotel a no-brainer.

I keep hoping the renovations to this hotel will be completed...but they aren't. This is the 3rd time we've stayed at this location since April 2015. Love the location: easy access to highway; close to Western Michigan University. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good with the usual choices: sausage links, French toast, fresh fruit, cereal, waffle maker, etc. When we pulled in the parking lot the large waste receptacles were the first clue that the renovations were not completed. We had an event at WMU that we needed to attend Friday night and when we returned, parking was extremely limited. This was due to a second large waste receptacle and a large travel trailer set up in the lot on the backside of the hotel. Trailer was being used (carpenters?) as an electrical cord ran from the hotel to the trailer. Also, a pickup truck connect to another trailer parked across several would-be parking spots. We had a room on the 1st floor and I was okay with that...the stairwell was closed for renovations. Seems dangerous. I like the hotel, just wished they would get the construction completed! On another note, I really don't like the new "BW" sign that corporate has decided to use. Reminds me of "DQ".

Property is nearly new or newly remodelled. Excellent location. Room for the price is great. In fact with a decent staff this could be an excellent hotel. While eating breakfast close to 9 the staff literally took food away as we were reaching for it. On checkout the staff was no where to be found and we had to wait 5-10 minutes to check out. Great hotel. Just hire better staff and you will love this place

We stayed here during the summer of 2015, and the hotel needed some TLC. Since then, it has been nicely renovated. Very convenient to Western Michigan University in a quiet location. All staff members were pleasant and helpful. Convenient to highway without road noise.

We had a good stay here. The room was modern and clean. The bed comfortable. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was nice. The pool was clean. I didn't have any complaints. The location, just off the highway, is good if you're passing through kalamazoo.

This was one of the best hotels and also the room we stayed so far in other BW and other Brand Hotels. The location of this hotel is also very convenient close to the Highway & not far away from amenities.

Staff was very pleasant and the hotel was a little dated everything was clean and the breakfast was great. Rooms are huge and the pool was kept relatively clean. After a long drive I wanted to relax in the pool and it closed at 10. It was 9:45 when I checked in and asked if we had time to jump in. They said of course and I promised them it wouldn't be long and we jumped in and out. Will stay here again if in the area.

I have stayed at this property several times in the past and had the chance to stay there again recently for a night. The hotel hasn't changed much since my earlier visits with the same room decor. This was changing as renovations were going on inside the hotel, just not yet on the floor where I stayed. I wish I had been in one of the updated rooms so that I could give an up-to-date review. The room we were in certainly needed some attention since it has been at least 3 years since I was at the property. The sleep quality was very good, with little to no road noise from the nearby 131 highway. Noise within the hotel from other guests was also very low, enough so that I thought occupancy must have been low until I saw the number of cars in the parking lot the following morning. Breakfast was good, with a mix of hot and cold foods and a good selection of both. I felt the pricing was fair for the property but also feel that the updating is needed and probably a bit overdue.

We've stayed here three times over the past year and have had a great experience every time. The rooms are clean, the breakfast is great, and the staff is amazingly helpful! The last time we went through, we stopped there but there were no rooms available. The front desk called around and found a place for us. We love the location - nice and quiet but near the university and major roads.

First time staying at this hotel. Would look for a different hotel if we visit Kalamazoo again. It was not awful, it just was not what I expected it to be. The bed was very comfy........breakfast buffet was not good. Front desk gal was very helpful!

Our room had not been vacuumed or dusted. .crumbs, lint, etc., were on the floor as well as tags from new clothing that a previous guest had left. After complaining about lack of cleanliness we were moved to a "clean/ready" room down the hall. Altho the staff was apologetic and our bill reduced 40%.. we were not too impressed with any aspect of our stay. Second room had duct tape at threshold, headboard was in bad shape, no hair dryer. Hallways and stairs in motel looked like they hadn't seen a vacuum for a while, and baseboards were filthy. Sign in lobby said they were in process of some renovations so guess keeping the place clean had been put on the back burner.

We arrived at the hotel and had to wait for 10 minutes for someone to be back at the desk for check in on a Saturday evening. We got our room, but it did not match our reservation. We reserved a double queen suite and only received a single king suite. The hotel is currently being renovated. The air conditioning kept turning back up during the night and not holding the temperature as set.

This hotel was very clean and nice. We stayed in a king suite and the presentation was very nice. The breakfast was also good. My only complaint was that the staff cussed way to much in front of guest, including my boyfriend and I. Also the bathroom door in my room was broken, but that was the only thing that I had problems with. Overall I would stay here again.

Just one night but it was very enjoyable. Lobby and breakfast area are nice with view of the indoor pool. Room was very large with good sized fridge and microwave. Bed and linens were super comfortable. Temperature control quiet and efficient. Breakfast great..lots of selections including big bowl of fresh fruit. Dining area is quite large with plenty of room for everyone. Staff couldn't have been nicer including the breakfast bar associate. I hated to leave!!

Second time staying here. This time I was on the 3rd floor versus fourth. This was not remodeled. The room was not bad, but there was a difference all the same. I did eat their breakfast this time, and it was very good considering the value for the hotel and options available of warm and cold. I had a good night's sleep and no complaints of any kind beyond remodeled and not.

The room was not very clean. Litter on the floor and under the bed. Made us wonder what else wasn't cleaned well. Pool was ice cold at first, finally warmed up at the end of our stay. Service was excellent as was the complimentary breakfast. Overall not bad for the price.

This hotel was clean and comfortable. only problem was the door on the bathroom would not shut properly. However the hotel is currently renovating. I did report this to front desk at check out and they were going to have maintenance look at it. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Would stay here again.

As has been mentioned in other reviews, avoid rooms ending in 08. Our stay was very noisy. There was no sound proofing in the door so we woke up several times to drunk guests getting on and off the elevator and just being in the hall. If you want hot water don't stay here. Neither the hot tub or our shower ever got hot. The pool was COLD. Plumbing seemed to be an issue in general as the toilet didn't work right either. A couple small annoying things to mention: Wifi was very weak and not reliable. The elevator was incredibly slow, use the stairs. Breakfast was good and the location was convenient to any attractions in the area.

I stayed at the Best Western Plus Kalamazoo Suites in late April for one night as part of a road trip. It is a very nice property with spacious rooms and it has a great location: just off US 131 and a stone's throw from Stadium Drive. Accordingly, it should be convenient for many travelers to Kalamazoo. In short, the property offers excellent value for money (I paid under $100, including tax, for one night's stay). The rooms are large, well appointed and quiet. Parking is plentiful and easy. The hotel has a small sundry shop offering snacks and other essentials, as well as a complimentary breakfast. Like all Michigan hotels, it is entirely non-smoking, but the hotel has cleverly set aside a small area outside (with chairs!) for guests who do smoke. This was a nice gesture and appreciated. It also has a small indoor pool, which seemed popular with other guests. Lastly, the staff are very friendly and happy to address any concerns one might have.

Overall the hotel staff were very friendly and tended to any need I had during my stay which ended up being about 45 days. A good experience with the staff. This hotel was under renovations during my entire stay. Lakisha did a wonderful job on my room when she cleaned. You could just tell she was there that day. Though I did not need my room cleaned or a change of sheets daily, my room was tended to regularly by a well trained staff. The only issue I had during my stay was that the toilet and the sink basin in the bathroom was rarely cleaned well. My stay was very pleasant and like I said, all my needs were tended to. The breakfast needs some serious attention. The fake eggs were awful. I would not even put those out for service.

This was an okay place to stay. A little fixing up and some TLC could make this a nice place. The hallways and walls need some repair. The service was good for the most part. Cleaniness could have been better. I had an old sock under the bed side and it was there the whole time. The manager was very committed to helping us have a good experience.

My family spent Easter weekend in Kalamazoo, Michigan visiting family there. We booked this hotel because it had a pool. The interior is quite nice in the lobby and breakfast area. The front desk clerk was friendly. From there it went down hill. We discovered there was a lot of renovations going on, including the pool which meant it was closed. We discovered after returning to our room the next day that housekeeping lost their minds. Our beds weren't made or tidied in any way. The bathroom hadn't been really cleaned, nor the towels replaced...just folded and put back. The coffee area was messy...stir sticks, dirty napkins and coffee stains on the counter. Coffee not replaced which meant I didn't have coffee for the next day. Yes, housekeeping was in our room because the King Bed was not made but the covers were pulled up to the pillows to make it look like it was made. Disgusting. If not for the front desk, we would have rated this hotel lower than a 3.

Road warrior and I guess I'm used to better. There are a few BW's that I have identified, in the areas that I travel, that are on the same level as Hilton and IHG properties I normally stay in; this is not one of them. This is the first time I've stayed here and will probably be the last. Hotel is dated and, while under renovation, still will never be up to the same level as other mid-range hotels that I stay in. The walls are paper thin and I could here every little noise from the kids in the room next door (my parents would have kicked my butt if I were that noisy after 10:00pm). NCAA Tournament time and even though they have flat panel TV's, there are no HD channels (very unusual at any hotel these days). TV screen blurry and ended up watching games on my iPad. Did I mention the noise and the kids next door. Wifi was adequate. Check-in was efficient. I would give this an average rating, at best, primarily because of the rate. As I said in the intro, I would have expected better from a BW PLUS.

Hotel nightmare... my skin is still crawling but luckily nothing else. I didn't expect anything over-the-top but I did expect it to be clean and it was beyond filthy. There was no shower liner, something I suspect was excrement near the toilet paper dispenser and mold in the shower. The carpets had not been vacuumed and the sheets were all wrinkled which made it difficult for me to trust that they were even clean. It was gross.

Read a review and made a reservation, asked to be contacted if pets an issue. They contacted me before arriving but didn't comment on my request. Went next door to Holiday Inn, got a room but at a 30 % higher rate plus 15 dollar pet fees.

We have a student at the college located by Best Western Plus and we think it is a very nice comfortable place to stay. I avoid the elevator because it sounds like it is going to break but other than that everything is nice and updated.

Very nice hotel; 2nd stay since April 2015. Had hoped that renovation was completed but it wasn't. Desk staff very friendly; lobby area very clean; room was spacious. Fitness center was nice as was indoor pool. Breakfast was the usual - fruit, waffle maker, etc. Beds were comfortable. We stayed on a night when outside temperatures were almost 0 degrees; the room felt chilly but we turned up the heat and it was fine. Next morning we found out why the room had been cold...window was open almost an inch! Bathroom floor (tile) was the coldest I have ever experienced (open window probably compounded that). Easy access to highways and extremely close to Western Michigan University (2 miles away) and Kalamazoo College. Would recommend the facility - be sure to check your window!

Hotel in the process of redecorating??? need bathrooms repaired 1st! and a longer shower curtain for the curved rod--- or you are going to have a huge mess with some people that stay Parking only at one end... otherwise pretty nice hotel

The remodel is looking very nice, the carpet is so soft and the hotel is in an easy location right off of the highway. I would stay there for sure again! Lovely place and afternoon and morning girls where very sweet and helpful.

We stayed in a suite with two queen beds and a couch. There was ample room for 5 of us to hang out and not feel crowded. The pool was nice, the hot tub was hot and relaxing. The condensation above the hot tub was annoying as it kept dripping on us but overall that was nothing compared to how uncomfortable the beds and pullout couch was. I slept on the pullout and it was like sleeping on coils all night. My friends slept on the beds and said it wasn't much better. The breakfast in the morning was devine though. Overall the stay was a lovely night away from husbands and children and we will most likely refer friends and family. Probably after the renovations are fully completed in hopes of getting newer beds ;)

love this property, second time here and always warm and enviting. sraff always poliet and never complain when u ask for early chexk in or laye check out. room are big and bed is comfortable. all rooms have fridge and microwave.

My husband and I recently spent a couple of weeks at Best Western and, having been in the hospitality business my entire life, was totally impressed with the service we received. Not only were the rooms spacious and airy, the pool was warm and the hot tub was hot, and the breakfast was the perfect start to our days. Alondra at the front desk is the sweetest person! I was constantly asking for things like Kleenex and garbage bags, and she happily accommodated me, and made pleasant conversation. Housekeeping was spot on and very friendly. Beds were comfy and I slept like a champ. Jeanne at breakfast loves her job and it shows - she chit chatted with all the guests and made sure they had everything they needed to enjoy their stay. There was always hot coffee and tea too. The fitness room kept me busy, and laundry was convenient. Even the maintenance guy was super duper nice - he was always taking out our trash and holding doors for us. Of all the decently priced hotels in Kalamazoo, this one is right at the top!

Happy to get off the road and to our motel just off the highway after a very wet and foggy drive. Received a fine upgrade to a recently remodeled room. Could have been a bit brighter in the room, but it was comfortable and exceeded our expectations. Good price for the room and in my travels, the breakfast was far better than most "free breakfast" offerings. Bottom line, we got our money's worth and the employees added to our positive experience.

When I checked in it was only going to be for 3 days but it ended up being over two weeks! I hadn't taken a vacation in 4 years but after experiencing the great staff and great amenities my wife and I decided it was time for a vacation. The General Manager Steve was the most accommodating, he locked me into a great rate and made sure my stay was enjoyable. Deborah at the front was a pleasure to work with as our vacation continued to extend. House keeping was efficient and respectfull even a few times when we slept past check out and forgot to call the front desk to extend our stay they gave us the courtesy to not knock and let us sleep. I travel a lot for business and the Best Western Suites in Kalamazoo by far is the "Best" of any of my travel destinations to date. Stay here if you are ever in Kalamazoo Mi!

Are recent stay offered us a very nice large and clean room for our stay to visit family and friends in Kalamazoo. The price was very attractive for the room that we stayed in, and the room was very clean and very well kept up. We were very pleased with our stay. The staff at the hotel did an excellent job in being friendly, courteous and helpful. The woman serving breakfast really went above and beyond in helping an elderly couple with their breakfast and was inspiring to see such commitment from the staff, even at checkout. We will stay here again on our return trips to Kalamazoo.

Had three rooms for a family funeral. Picked this hotel because of the amenities and proposed value compared to others close by. Upon check in, noticed that the heating/cooling system was blowing either hot or cold air and running 90% of the time which made the room temp fluctuate non-stop. We went to use the pool late in the evening and the pool/hot tub water was green and cloudy - nothing that you would want to swim in as who knows what caused it. Breakfast was very mediocre - cold french toast and greasy under cooked bacon. Should have paid the extra $15 and stayed at the Holiday Inn.

We picked this hotel because it included breakfast and it had a pool, which we wanted to use after driving all day. The pool had been recently flushed and the water was dingy - you couldn't see the bottom of the pool. The staff assured me that it was fine but I couldn't get past the cloudiness. As for breakfast, they stop serving at 9AM during the week and we missed it. They should have signs in the rooms rather than one sign that was hiding behind some holiday decorations.

Our family needed a place to stay for a quick trip to Kalamazoo just before Thanksgiving, and we were concerned that all of the nicer places would already be booked up. We wanted a decent place at a good price but that wasn't a dump, and that had a indoor pool and a filling free breakfast. We found that the Best Western Plus had all of these features, and at a really good price too! The room was nice - it was two queen beds and a pull out couch that we night have needed, but ended up not needing. The breakfast was more than enough for us. If we need a place again in Kalamazoo, this is where we will go!

Its a good place to relax and enjoy the area. The hotel is centrally located and close to the university and its activities. The staff, especially Debbie and a male staff who looks like Pres Obama are excellent and professional.

Often, lower price corresponds with lower quality - however, this property definitely exceeded my expectations. Large clean room, comfortable bed, and solid Internet service enabled me to get some work done after hours.

For all that it's worth the remodel has been positive compared with my stay a year or so ago. The room was comfortable. What I dinged this hotel for on the rating was the housekeeping. I should have known from the start after seeing a tip envelope in the room that it was going to be lackluster at best. I never tip housekeeping on the first night (unless only a one night visit) and you have to impress me to get anything going forward. That being said, the bed was just thrown back together and the same was true for the towels, etc. I spend just enough time in the room to take a shower and sleep, so there is never a mess to clean up, just make the bed and refresh the towels. If you want a tip out of me for that little effort you had better get it right. My suggestion: ditch the tip envelope and provide service worthy of me going out of my way to leave a few bucks.

The room was spacious with refrigerator, microwave, sink and a Jacuzzi (I was not expecting that!). Shower was good -- temperature and pressure was controllable. Housekeeping didn't stop by after first night of two-night stay. I didn't need anything so it wasn't a real big deal.

Stayed at this hotel for three nights 27-29th. 1. The hotel towels were filthy to the point that we kept asking them to bring us up clean towels. 2. We were told that the towels were as clean as they will get because they are in the process of getting new washing machines. 3. Room 219 bed appeared to never been freshly made correctly; especially since it looked like someone had say on it prior to us arriving. 4. Had to ask for clean sheets; as well. 5. We decided to go sightseeing of the city, and when we returned, our room was never cleaned; nor vacuumed... basically not touch. 6. The pool and hot tub area smelled very horrible and the water was dark yellowish and brown. Some good things about my stay: 1. The breakfast was good and decent. It was basically what you typically would have at most hotels. However, the area was clean and well maintained; and the female staff was friendly. 2. The desk staff was attentive to our request for clean towels and sheets and overall appeared to have a positive attitude. 3. The hotel is currently undergoing some renovations (this is awesome because they need it); but they have a long way to go.

As we have shared...great service, friendly staff, great room, and a super quiet night. We had been meeting at this hotel for three years and have had a #10 rating each time. The other couple really enjoyed it as well!

couldn't get any sleep, too noisy neighbors, called and called, the people next to me still were noisy, screaming and yelling and loud music. Very inconsiderate and rude people. Its hard to believe that the manager ever asked them to stop.

I have stayed here twice over the past year. In both instances my room was clean and the hotel was quiet. Internet worked fine, as I streamed Netflix the whole night without problem. The rooms though just felt dated between the furniture and finishing in the room. With that being said, I would stay here again without hesitation.

I rented this room for visiting lecturer for our group. They found the room dirty, bedding dirty, coffee maker gross. IDue to ongoing renovations,, They were unable to provide them with a comparable room. I hesitate to rebook for future guests

I had my pet with me: the first room we were given had horrible carpets and smelled like animals. We moved to another room which was better, but still poor carpets, broken bed and curtains. Overall cleanliness and condition of hotel could be better. The STAFF was great; the breakfast bar nothing spectacular, but very adequate. The small gym had broken equipment and only light weights to work out with.

Stayed one night and was very disappointed. Rugs and elevator were dirty. Really needs update which we were told they are starting. Difficult in closing room door. No hot water for a shower and a manager who does not return customer calls.

Over all a very nice stay. For those coming in the next few months be prepared for some noise as they are remodeling. The parking is located at one end of the facility. The lobby is very well welcoming and the staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast while not 5 star has a nice selection and seating is nice. The rooms are clean. For the price you get a lot. The pool and hot tub were clean and the area well kept. If you like soft beds then you will like our room. Over all a very nice stay and look forward to seeing them when they have remodeled. One thing it is a bit far from most shopping and eating. Still a short drive gets you to most places of interest.

The room 307 was simply amazing. It was spacious with a full kitchen, dinning area, fireplace and sitting area. Everything worked other than the fireplace but the rest of the room made up for it. The swimming are was very clean and comfortable. The fitness room was well equipped with different work out stations. The outside had seating in various areas that made it very nice to enjoy the outdoors as well. Staff was very friendly.

Yesterday, my worst traveler's nightmare came true. Just after waking, my husband and I lay facing each other in the bed when he got a funny look on his face and said "there's a bug on your pillow." I leapt out of bed. As our eyes began to scan the bed and the surrounding area, I began to feel sick. Not "bug". "BUGS." BED BUGS. The more we looked, the more we saw. In the bed. Around the headboard. On the wall. On the ceiling. This was not a stray bug. This room (room 209) is infested. The bugs were of varying size, from tiny (google says this is the nymph stage) to full grown, and seemed to be coming and going from behind the headboard attached to the wall. There were also clearly tiny blood stains on the sheets, indicating they had bitten us. I frantically called the front desk, explained the situation and asked for a manager. The woman at the front desk did not seem surprised or concerned and told me the manager would not be in for an hour. Meanwhile, my husband grabbed a plastic hotel cup and began scooping up bugs to show the manager, in case they disappeared before he arrived. (SEE PHOTO) Well over an hour later, after hearing nothing back, I approached the front desk, set my cup 'o bugs down in front of the attendant, and asked if the manager was available yet. I was told no, he would not be in now for at least another hour. She did go ahead and refund our room. We got some trash bags from housekeeping to bag up all of our stuff and left without ever hearing anything from management. Based upon their reaction, I am not sure that I trust they will call a pest management company to deal with this situation. And I find it difficult to believe they could have an infestation of this magnitude and not know about it. Traveler's beware! I would sleep in my car as opposed to even stepping foot into this hotel.

the hotel was very nice Pool area being renovated it will be lovely however that was not disclosed at time of booking Lobby nice rooms very nice size Beds had a hard edge around them but still comfortable And clean I would stay here again!

This hotel has just become a Best Western. It is very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is nice with limited seating. Be aware that we were told soon they are doing a major remodeling of the place so you might run into some construction

When we checked in the woman on duty at the desk was completely disinterested in any questions we had. She clearly was not interested in helping us. I got the impression she definitely did not like her job. At breakfast we noted that the make-it-yourself waffle maker had a dirty, crusted area around the handles. I appeared to never have been cleaned; and yes, even with extensive use of spray oil, the waffle still stuck. Other areas looked cleaner.
