The hotel was great! The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff was excellent, very friendly. The hot tub was huge and relaxing. Beautiful view of the lake. The hotel is in a great location! I wasn't sure what to expect up here in the winter. I came for work so didn't have too much time to explore, but from what I saw I'd recommend visiting this area, even in the winter! We had a great stay!

This hotel had the most amazing hot tub I was ever in. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. What made it the best was Michelle at the front desk. She was the nicest, warmest person ever! She made you feel welcome and at home. She is a gem!

Our stay in Grand Marais was great. Pretty quiet time during our visit. We had great weather. Enjoyed walking around town, visiting some shops. Enjoyed our eating experiences at the local restaurants.

My sister & visited Grand Marais to ice skate. Our experience was fantastic from start to finish. Hotel Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The hot tub is large, with a clean pool deck and bathroom with a shower. The morning sun poured into the room and we enjoyed our coffee overlooking the lake. We enjoyed the large selection of breakfast foods and large, beautiful dining area.

Quiet stay in a gem of a city close enough to see and hear the waves of Lake Superior. The name Superior doesn't come close to doing justice to the world's largest and most beautiful freshwater lake. great variety to see and do in and around the town.

We've been coming to Grand Marias for around ten years and the service, facilities and food are great. We make it a point to always stay at this hotel because this is what you look for in a vacation stay.

Great hotel with nice view of Lake Superior. Fine rooms and furnishings. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Only need to book for one night - other hotels require 2-3 night stays in this area. A little pricey.

We had a king balcony room overlooking the lake and we loved it and would definitely stay here again. The staff was very nice, everything seemed very clean and well-cared for. The room AC worked great which is important to us even though I know Grand Marias doesn't usually get that hot, but sometimes does get stuffy warm indoors in the summer. The breakfast was good for a complimentary breakfast. Very walkable to downtown Grand Marais shops, bars, and restaurants. My only complaint would be that we will try a different room category next time because our room had the bed located right next to the bathroom door which is a sliding pocket door, offering little privacy and anyone laying in the bed could easily hear the other person using the restroom if you know what I mean. The staff at the desk suggested other room categories that didn't have that type of sliding pocket bathroom door with the bed so close to the bathroom door so we will try that next time. Great hotel otherwise and we will definitely stay here again!!

The Best Wester Plus Superior Inn overlooking Lake Superior was fantastic! The faciities were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were friendly and customer focused.I highly recomend this hotel!

A friend and I spent 3 nights there. Room set up is very convenient. Standard hotel breakfast buffet but well serviced, with a few nice regional touches such as lefse. Beautiful beach outside our window. Convenient to walk everywhere in town.

We love everything about this hotel: the beds, the breakfast, the VIEW! The staff is very friendly, the rooms are very nice, and the shower is great. They allow large dogs too and have special rooms that are great - with easy access to a door for potty breaks and walks by the water. We have stayed here many times and will be back for sure!

The Inn has everything we want in a room. Beds are comfortable. Furniture includes a 3 drawer dresser, large counter for coffee, fridge & microwave, table with 2 chairs, sitting area with 2 chairs & small table, and 2 (one hardly ever finds) luggage racks. The sink which offers plenty of counter space, excellent lighting, and make-up mirror is outside smallish shower/toilet area. We liked the adjustable height shower. Hot water comes up very slowly, but is plenty hot once it arrives. The bath heater and vent actually worked! There are sufficient reachable outlets. The double queen balcony lake view room has 2 chairs and a small table. A good sized closet hides behind full sized mirror and is only a bit tricky access as door blocks passage when open. Only issue, and not Inn's fault, is one has to deal with lots of tiny “no see ‘em” bugs that hang on the screen and swarm into the room.

We enjoyed the beautiful suite, the delicious breakfast that had a lot of north shore favorites (cranberry wild rice bread, lefse, delicious coffees choices), the regional decor, the wonderful staff, the very nice giant whirlpool. The beds were comfortable and the room was really nice. We would love to stay there again!

Enjoyed hearing the waves outside our bedroom window. Great view of Lake Superior and the stars at night. After a long day's drive it was great to be able to order a simple supper of salad and flatbread pizza we enjoyed at the bar and dining room.

Located ON THE SHORE of Lake Superior! The lake front balcony is so awesome for staring at the water, watching sunrise, star gazing... The room was beautiful with awalking tile shower/glass door. Excellent bed and pillows, I slept so food after my days of hiking and exploring! Grand Marais itself is an adorable town w excellent dining options. The MN state parks along the shore offer spectacular short to long hikes with stunning Superior views, Sawtooth mountain vistas and gorgeous waterfalls!

Wonderful, friendly staff. Great Location. Fabulous views. We enjoyed just getting away for a few days and this was the perfect place. It was rainy and cold out but the rooms, lounge and bar area, and hot tub made up for the crummy weather.

Beautiful location and excellent service. We come back every year. Grand Marais is a walkable town. The hotel is close to lots of restaurants and shops. The breakfast is great with eggs and some kind of meat every day plus yogurt,muffins etc. The coffee is great!

On the Shore of Lake Superior allowing beautiful views and accessibility to the surrounding area. The hotel is impeccably clean and if you are so inclined, you can open the patio door and fall asleep to the sound of waves rolling into shore. Great breakfasts daily ... delicious food and drinks available in the lobby lounge. It's our favorite place to stay and can't wait to go back!

Ticket # CR723575 My parents who are elderly and disabled arrived at your Superior/Grand MArais location in MN only to find out they've driven 200+ miles each way only to find their room was given to someone else. they have been staying in and requested that room for 8-9 years. The local staff refused to make good on it and still charged them around 400 dollars for a room they couldn't use, I called corporate, but they cannot access the local transactions and she called the them and they refuse. Is this a hospitality business or NOT? I refuse to accept this level or disgusting customer service from a hotel that's charging them 400 a night. I have the corporate ticket number. Get back to me or charge back and attorney general time. They are not rich, this is a treat for them 1-2 times a year. The reason they were given that they couldn't refund is because the room couldn't be re-sold that night and my folks couldn't even get into the bathroom with their wheelchair, they left within an hour and turned the keys in. Also said that the room wasn't flagged as handicapped accessible because the one they requested has always worked well and they loved it, they tried to stick them in a basement room! They didn't even get an apology..

Wonderful relaxing stay, staff very nice. Went down to whirlppool, wasnt the cleanest but ok, thought their was a pool but just a whirlppool..rooms were clean, and spacious, loved the deck off of the room overlooking the lake...and the hotel was close to everything .. only thing I was disappointed in was their was no seating for smokers or anybody to sit, I have a neuromuscular disease and it was very hard to stand, even out by the beach area, so people would really benefit from benches being put out..

We felt like royalty at our last stay! We were always greeted with Smiles and Polite Conversation! Helpful Staff is only the tip of how the staff were! They went above and beyond our expectations! The Room was Spotless and Exceeding Fresh!

Million dollar views, comfy beds and location is within walking distance to all of Grand Marais. Breakfast was good but they tried to be a bit fancy which could be a turn off to kids and some adults. We would definitely go back.

We just had a wonderful five night stay at the Best Western in Grand Marais. Great location for exploring Grand Marais, the Gunflint Trail, Grant Portage State Park with the High Falls, and going into Canada to see Kakabeka Falls. The view of Lake Superior from our third floor balcony was spectacular. And don't forget to visit the World's Best Donut Shop in the morning for some treats to take over to a picnic table or beach on the harbor to enjoy them while watching the water.

I traveled alone to attend a photography workshop. I spent 5 nights at the Best Western Plus Superior Inn in Grand Marais. Every aspect of my stay was great. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom had a rainfall shower and a sink/counter area that was separate. There was a mini fridge and a small counter area with a coffee maker and a place for snacks. The bed was I believe the most comfortable one that I ever slept in. The free breakfast was plentiful, with a good food selection, and I appreciated complimentary coffee and filtered water available in the lobby all day. Nice to fill my water bottle before heading out. Every member of the staff I interacted with was helpful, courteous and cheerful. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

I booked a spa room for my wife and I's anniversary. Room#207. We must have taken 5 whirlpool baths, 6 steam showers, all in two nights stay. You really don't have to even leave the room if you don't want to. There is room service and a bar. Breakfast was great. Very romantic room. If your a guy who wants to treat his wife right for the weekend, this is the plan.

I booked this hotel online having never been there before. The pictures on the website doesn't do it justice. It is, by far, the best view in Grand Marais right from your balcony. You'll fall asleep and wake to the sound of the lake. It was so peaceful, but with all the amenities you want in a hotel. A fitness center, pool, breakfast, lounge, snack shop, clothing sales, and bar. The room is priced for a mid-range hotel but you get so much more for your buck at this establishment. The rooms are clean, updated, and beautiful. The beds are comfortable and have extra thick mattress toppers to make your sleep more enjoyable. We will be back!

We went there to see my son and his wife and the grand kids. It is a tourist town and there is a lot to see and do especially if you like to hike and camp. They have good places to eat . the people there are very friendly. I f you are looking to get away fom the businest of city life this is the place to go.

My spouse and I just completed a 1,950-mile road trip around Lake Superior (going clockwise). Our first overnight stay was for two nights at the Best Western Plus Superior Inn in Grand Marais. This was an outstanding choice, one of the best of the accommodations we stayed in during the course of our two weeks of travel. All the rooms at the Best Western Plus Superior Inn are on the lake side of the property. It is within easy walking distance of so many places in Grand Marais. (We walked both nights to where we went to dinner—the Angry Trout Cafe one night and My Sister's Place the next.) Steve at the front desk each morning was a very friendly guy that answered all our questions and provided us good advice on where to go, including a great recommendation for a restaurant in Thunder Bay, Ontario, which we enjoyed. (Thanks Steve.) We will be staying at this hotel when we go next to Grand Marais, Minnesota.

Totally loved this hotel! Set right on the shore of Lake Superior, every room has a balcony and a view, and at a reasonable price. Room was comfortable, too. Little bar made it possible to get a glass of wine when everything else in town closes at 8pm.

Always a great trip here!! The owners are always there to oversee the operations and ensure you have everything you need. The recent upgrades are beautiful although not needed. Much appreciation to the owners for the constant upgrades to this facility-they treat it like their own home! This feels like our home away from home!! Thank you for welcoming us!

I stayed here in mid-November. All the hotel's services were top-notch. Very clean and tidy. Clearly a well-run place. I had a pet-friendly room that looked out on the bay. Room was excellent! Breakfast was well-presented and a good selection: the egg-bake was delicious, and the muffins were expensive coffee shop quality! I would 100% stay here again.

This hotel is a delight. Welcoming entry and very friendly staff. The rooms are a very generous size and all have a lake view. There is a nice sitting area that can accommodate an extra bed if needed. The shower was terrific. The town is tiny so the location is good. Central to several restaurants and great places to explore in the area. The breakfast was okay but the eating are was quite nice. Apparently, they offer flat breads and salads in the evening but the oven was broken during our visit. They offered a salad but we went out. They also serve beer and wine in the evenings. This hotel was a very pleasant surprise and we would return without question.

Just a weekend getaway with my husband for a first ever trip to the north shore. The room was clean, compact but very functional. Loved the view of the water and the fireplace. Sunrise viewable from the bed so breathtaking. Breakfast was good and filtered water to refill your containers.

After a fast and friendly check-in, we went to a large, well-lit room with comfortable chairs and bed (though the mattress slanted to one side). We had a wonderful view to the lake. There was a microwave and a minifridge (no freezer). The updated bathroom was fairly small but had a large shower with a good double shower head. The well-lit sink area was outside of the bathroomand had a makeup mirror. There was plenty of counter space. We had a delicious dinner at the Angry Trout, and a better-than-average breakfast with many choices at the hotel. This was the most expensive hotel of our entire three-week trip.

The room was clean with a great lake view and accessible bathroom. Housekeeping went beyond what we requested, cleaning the whole room when we only requested towel services. Breakfast was better than typical with egg bakes, and excellent variety of breads (wheat, cranberry wild rice) and pastry (fresh muffins and scones). Love 24-hour fitness center

Stayed here several times and always enjoyed our stay. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. Was a little bummed this time however because we accidentally booked a "pet friendly" room which are all on the 1st floor. Apparently it's in the fine print. Views are not as good, ppl upstairs were loud and my allergies were so bad. I'm guessing dog dander in the bed. I wish the room descriptions were more clear and would state what floor they are on right in title.

My husband and I took a trip to Grand Marais to explore the beautiful area. The Best Western is beautifully remodeled has phenomenal views, local access to the downtown district of Grand Marais and close to great area adventures.

This hotel is located 'in town' and on Lake Superior. Our 2 queen bed room had a balcony overlooking the lake. Loved the table with two chairs for eating in the room, along with 2 upholstered chairs. Nice counter space with a coffee maker (not a Keurig) and good counter space in the sink area. Shower and toilet were in a separate room. Dining/food area were very nice and breakfast had good variety.

The hotel is clean. We had a lakeside balcony that was very nice. We were there in the fall which is one of the busiest times to go so the rates were pretty high and we had to pay exchange on top of that. It would be nice if they gave their Canadian guests a bit of a break. there is no carpeting which raises the noise level a little. They are a lot of dogs there so be careful if thats a problem for you.

We had a nice view of Lake Superior and found the staff to be welcoming. Breakfast was excellent. The downside is that a high price is paid for the view and minimal housekeeping. There was no problem with replacing towels, but it was a hassle as was our waste bins been filled to the brim. I'll recommend this as a place to stay as long as you understand that you will be a premium. Another downside, although not related to the lodging was the lack of good places to eat due to the lack of available help.

When we use Best Western we always use a “plus or premier.” Rooms book up fast during foliage season. This one has all rooms with a balcony and a view of Lake Superior and just a short walk to all the town has to offer. The rooms are suites so there is lots of room. Staff are friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was excellent. They had a cranberry/rosemary bread that was exceptional. You can buy a loaf from them as it is only made commercially. All entry points (except lobby) require key access. A definite thumbs up.

This Best Wesrtern is a great hotel. It's situated on Lake Superior and it's worth it to pay for the view as each room has a balcony. The breakfast was better than any hotel offering I've ever had. Staff was helpful and pleasant. We paid for a suite which had a fireplace and a steam function in the shower. Loved the stay.

The location of this hotel on Lake Superior is fantastic. The hotel itself is over priced. Our room was hot and smelled of cigarette smoke when we entered. Some of the front desk staff were really pleasant, but one was socially distant and awkward. Breakfasts were average, but not up to the standard of a hotel at this price.

This has been an amazing property. The rooms are beautifully furnished and spotless. We love looking at the serenity of Lake Superior. The staff is also exceptional. We had to change rooms because we booked late and they showed us two options for our second day, wanting to make certain we made the best choice for us. Highly recommend this stay.

Every time I turned around I was surprised by something else in this room. It was clean, it was spacious, and the amenities were astounding. The view of the lake certainly didn't hurt either. The bed was super comfy and that shower... HOLY SMOKES!!!

Loved this hotel. The young man who initially took my phone call last spring to book was extremely helpful and patient. We were in room 214. It is a bigger room with two queen beds, two lounge chairs with ottoman, a table with a traditional chair, and an office chair. The toilet/shower room is very small, but the double showerhead was fantastic. The vanity and sink area is spacious. Three attributes really stand out. 1. The deck overlooks Lake Superior. The sound of the waves and of the sea birds was so relaxing. 2. We awoke in the middle of the night to view the stars. They were brilliant! 3. Very good breakfast. breads tasted homemade. Thank you to the ladies who worked the desk. Very polite and one of them suggested driving the GunFlint Trail and having lunch at Trail Center Lodge. Good lunch.

Hotel is right on the shore of Lake Superior, very close to the Marina (walking distance). Views are spectacular. Could you a little updating on the carpets but otherwise clean and comfortable. Staff very accommodating and nice.

This was a beautiful hotel, our room was great - modern, clean, comfortable bed, cozy, clean modern bathroom. Great hot water and nice towels. The view of Lake Superior was breathtaking and we had a balcony and a window that we could open to enjoy it!! Right in our room!! The sound of the waves and the seagulls- wow! The room had a/c and great heat! I am so impressed- the price was fair as well!!!

I always try and get the king suite. It has a big jacuzzi tub, fireplace, and a huge steam shower. They have balconies that are right on the lake. They have a very good free breakfast, and a small beer/wine bar that is open in the evenings. My only complaint is that the bar is only open until 9pm, and I wish it stayed open until 10 or 11.

This Best Western is newly remodeled and attention to detail was not overlooked! The room was clean, had a frig and microwave, and a well appointed bathroom that resembled a HGTV pic. The beds were plush and the lakeview rooms have balconies. Although it is a little pricey, the location makes it walkable to Quaint Grand Marais and eateries as well as the lighthouse. Highly recommend.

Was everything we'd hoped for, great views on the water, clean and fresh remodeling complete. All the great amenities. Fireplace,,,sauna shower, lake view . A really comfortable and inviting place to spend a few days.

Excellent hotel! Rooms are very nice, clean & have a beautiful view of Lake Superior. Big ceramic shower with 2 shower heads. Balcony over looking the lake. Comfortable bed & pillows. Nice fireplace. Great warm breakfast with egg bakes, sausage or meats, pancakes, bakery muffins, scones, fruit, cereal, coffee, milk, juices. Excellent choice of 4 coffees available 24 hours. Bar that serves sandwiches & flat bread pizzas in the evening. Front desk staff were excellent, friendly & helpful. Beautiful location right on the beach for evening walks! Some people were swimming in the lake too! Grand Marais is a beautiful quaint town & harbor & nice shops gor shopping.The North Shore of MN is beautiful with many State Parks & waterfalls to hike & explore. Very satisfied with our stay & will definitely stay there again.

From the lakeview room to the architecture of the inner rooms of the hotel, the Superior Inn was stunning. The breakfast was the best I've ever had at a hotel and the whirlpool and whirlpool room were so clean and easy to use. The best part of this stay was the kindness and helpfulness of every staff member we encountered. We were so very taken care of and would recommend Superior Inn to everyone!

Awesome location and staff. We loved this place. The view of the lake is great. Seagulls flying around and chirping and enjoying themselves. Very serene. Beautiful redone rooms in 2020. Our room had a fireplace, and a balcony directly on the lake. Staff were amazingly helpful. Would highly recommend this location.

Because of a change in our original vacation plans, we had to throw something together at the last minute and opted for one of our favorite places, Grand Marais for a three night stay. I think we were lucky to get a room at the Best Western - perhaps we stumbled into a cancellation. The whole facility is top notch. We had a first floor lake patio and could enjoy the lake view and breezes. The room was spacious, clean and seemed recently remodeled. Nice big shower and vanity area too. We enjoyed drinks from the small lounge our fist night and for such a small space, we were very pleased with the beer and wine selection. We also used the absolutely wonderful whirlpool and gave the well outfitted exercise room a quick spin. The breakfast offered a better than average selection, but I wish there would have been at least one morning of something other than scrambled eggs as the main hot entree during our three days. All the food was very delicious though. Grand Marais is small, so virtually anything is within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful, including some dinner option suggestions. They don't enter your room during your stay unless you request for them to do so, but there was an ample number of towels for our visit, so we only had to request extra shampoo, etc.

Best Western was clean, beautiful view of Lake Superior and great service. It is walking distance to everything in Grand Marais and easy driving distance to hikes, Superior Hiking Trail, Gun Flint Trail and canoing, etc. Second time staying at Best Western in Grand Marais and would return.

Fantastic stay! We ended up with a pet friendly room bc the hotel was booked solid. Our room was exceptionally clean! Beds were so comfy, a welcoming layout with a large in room bar area, sofa/setting room overlooking Lake Superior. Clean, breakfast was a broad selection and friendly customer service. Could not have asked for a better stay, it was perfect!

This waterside hotel has had all the rooms totally redone. Our double queen room was huge — table, 2 chairs, desk with 2 chairs, make-up area, separate shower and toilet room, refrigerator, plenty of plug-ins……. Everything was beautifully done, and very modern. Highly recommend this SUPERIOR hotel!

This BW is perfect for a North Shore visit. You can walk everywhere - dinner, North House Folk school, shopping. Showers are always hot too. This is a huge plus after a day of hiking. We love this place ❤️

We stayed here on 6/2-6/4/22 in room 319. We found the front desk staff helpful and friendly, the breakfast very good,(one of the best we have had at a BW) and the room was awesome. Room 319 faces the lake, it has a fridge (no freezer), microwave and a coffee pot. It is the open suite arrangement with a balcony (two chairs and a small table) , sitting area and a dining/game area with a table and bench seating and a fireplace. The bathroom is good sized, has plenty of counter space, a steam room in the shower and a rain shower. The bed was very comfortable. Internet worked well for web surfing and email. There is plenty of parking. There is a beach right in back of the hotel, so you can walk out he first floor and right to the lake. The is a computer and printer available is you need it and the hotel has an in house bar which also serve light bar fare. Note: The hotel is very dog friendly. There are several restaurants (including the Worlds best donuts) within walking (10 min.) distance and a many more within a 10 min drive. The hotel is right next to the Marathon gas station. Overall, we had a great stay and would highly recommend the hotel

This hotel has great customer service, very good breakfast and light dinner options. Most rooms face the lake and are very comfortable. There are restaurants and shops Within walking distance. The staff couldn't be more helpful!

We are always impressed with how friendly and welcoming the staff are and how clean and comfortable the room are. We have stayed here numerous times and have never had any complaints. We have tried other motels but they never measure up to the BW Superior Inn.

Came to see the water falls at Grand Portage state park so we spent the night in Grand Marias. Everything at the hotel was as expected. No complains. Waterfall was spectacular. Nice two-day road trip.

This Best Western Hotel is so wonderful. After a full day of driving we pulled in at 6:30 tired & hungry. The gentleman at the front desk greeted us with smile & information of the bar & limited meals in their dining area. That was a relief that we didn't need to get back in the car. He also shared info about the lunar eclipse that night. Our room faced the shore of Lake Superior & had a balcony. What an experience to witness that eclipse over the lake & we would have missed it otherwise. Our room was spacious & very clean. The breakfast was the best of all the BW"s we stayed at on this trip. I whole heartedly recommend this hotel.

Very comfortable, the suite we stayed in was perfect for three separate people with our own beds. The location near downtown is handy, close enough to walk everywhere. The view from the lakeside room was lovely.

Our North Shore day trip turned into a spontaneous overnight in Grand Marais. We had 2 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs this trip. The hotel was perfectly clean, had plenty of room (indoors and out) for all of us to spread out after a day in the car, and had the MOST COMFORTABLE mattresses I have ever slept on in a hotel! Front desk staff was friendly, helpful and professional.

I have stayed at this hotel every season and it is the best in the area. You cannot get closer to the lake unless you are in it. Nice lobby to meet friends. Some rooms have fieplaces. Rooms have balconies that are great for drinking a glass of wine and reading a book. Internet was fast and stable.

Had a very good time staying at this Motel and visiting the Grand Marais town We have come for longer visits and enjoyed the surroundings area attractions I would recommend it for a nice relaxing time

I feel paying over 200 for a hotel stay that has free buffet breakfast it should have more than scramble eggs, turkey sausage and kabsia. Pretty gross, we ended up having to go to breakfast. Otherwise the room was clean and whirlpool was amazing

Everything was clean, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The breakfast food was good, the staff was friendly and helpful. Overall just a great experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be back.

Our stay was fantastic, from the friendly and helpful staff, to the beautiful room that looked to have been recently renovated, to the excellent breakfast complete with andouille sausage and yummy eggs. They kept the hot tub clean and balanced, and were just helpful all around. Can't wait to go back!

Great hotel, walking distance to all amenities Grand Marias has to offer. all of the rooms face the lake, beautiful common areas, great breakfast. We come back again and again. This hotel is comfortable and fresh,clean,modern.

This stay at the Best Western Superior was one of the best experiences ever! The staff is friendly, helpful and available. The room was spotless. The breakfast was better than any we could buy in GM. And it was fresh and hot! All the parking was close. The rooms overlook Lake Superior. Walking distance to everything downtown. Everything in the room worked. The lighting was bright. The shower was unique. Even though it is close to the highway, there was No Noise. Very peaceful.

This is a wonderful hotel! The beds are great. The showers are really nice with a double shower head. The view of Lake Superior from a lot of rooms is incredible. You are within walking distance of the business district including restaurants. It has a wonderful area for breakfast and has good mix of fresh fruit, hot food, cereal and baked goods. Anytime we asked for anything from the staff (extra blankets, clearing trash) they took care of us immediately. Everyone in our group would love to stay here again.

The staff is genuine is their interactions, obviously they enjoy working with the traveling public. Large, well appointed rooms that are right on Lake Superior, comfortable size balcony with comfortable chairs. Very comfortable bed, large walk in shower with an interesting double shower head. The breakfast offering is a bit nicer than the usual complementary motel breakfast, and ghe Staff keeps it fresh and inviting.

Nice, clean place. Nice amenities. Great breakfast. Super hot tub! People were very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The best snow around for xcountry skiing. Pincushion Mtn and Bearskin ski areas are our favorites. We will be back!

We recently traveled here for work & it was even better than expected. I've been booking large group reservations (30+ guests) for around 3 years now, and this Inn is in my top 5 now. The staff was so kind, helpful & accommodating from the very first phone call. They were understanding with guest room changes, date changes, etc. Not only the staff were lovely, but the rooms were wonderful too. We were there during the winter

Beautiful views and friendly accommodating staff willing to help out whenever they can. They are very knowledgeable on the local area. Dogs are welcome and treated as though they are guest. Great breakfast with a large variety hot and cold food.

Beautiful hotel right on Lake Superior. Friendly, helpful staff and hotel was very clean/recently remodeled! Good vibe. Nice open lobby/breakfast area. Comfy beds. Great location close to hiking trails and Lutsen Ski area. We would easily stay here again!

The hotel was great. A little confusing finding it originally but it was dark and snowing. We added a night and changed rooms and got a fireplace. The bed was so comfortable! The view was amazing and a quaint little town.

I didn't expect all rooms to have only a shower - no bath tub. I didn't expect the beds to be so high that I had to pull myself onto the bed - at 5'2" tall. I didn't expect a bar & hot food in house during evening hours. I didn't expect all the cool rock decor. I didn't expect check-in to be so complicated and comprehensive. I didn't expect gaining internet access to be so complicated.

Great staff and you are going to love the beds and pillows - they are great! Always look forward to my stays!! You will love the sound of the waves - can't find a better lullaby!! Hope you enjoy your stay as much as I do!!

I highly recommend Superior Inn in Grand Marais. My dog and I were here for the Winterers gathering at North House folk school and had a spacious clean comfortable room on the lake with a balcony at a fair price. Had a nice breakfast in the morning and had a soak in the whirlpool and enjoyed the fitness room. Warm and friendly staff as well.

We travel to Grand Marais at least twice a year, & we always stay at the Superior Inn. The staff & amenities really make it a pleasant experience. The location affords a wonderful view of Lake Superior, & allows for a short walk to shops & restaurants in the area. We will definitely be coming back again.

Can't say enough about this hotel. The location is in walking distance to the town, lighthouse and other attractions and a short drive to hiking areas, gunflint trail. Loved the whirlpool and rustic yet well maintained hotel. The rooms look out on the lake, and you can walk out on the beach. This was my first time staying in Grand Marais and I felt welcomed and had a great time. Definitely going back. I like how this property is a little tucked back from the main road but still an easy walk to restaurants and shopping.

Stayed 2 nights with family and was amazed at the cleanliness of the room and hotel in general. Full breakfast with delicious hot food. Staff very friendly, remembered our names. Lake view brought ears to my father's eyes. Watched sunrise over the lake each AM from our room balcony

Hotel was very clean, loved having a balcony to see Lake Superior. The staff was very friendly and it was really great to be able to get breakfast before starting your day. The hotel is in a great location, you can walk to town, walk to dinner and also walk to to the brewery. I would definitely go back to this hotel!

This hotel has the most luxurious amenities and finishes. The steam shower suite was amazing. We fell asleep to the sounds of the waves, were warmed by the fireplace and enjoyed the luxurious shower. I could live in that room forever! The bed was exceptionally comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. The hot tub is huge and clean. The location is perfect, we could walk to everything in town. Overall, we loved the hotel.

This hotel has it all! Great location, great service and superior quality. Our favorite was to sit in front of the fireplace and read and rest between hiking and exploring Grand Marais! The food and bar service was great and the beds were so comfortable! We had a beautiful view of Lake Superior and couldn't have asked for anything more!

We stayed here for two nights the third week of Oct. It was my fiancé, our pup and me. We had a great stay. The room itself was cozy, clean and had a really nice modern bathroom with a great shower. There was not a lot of noise transfer. The hot tub we used both nights was empty as luck would have it and was nice after a day of hiking. The views were just WOW. Make sure you get a lake view room. The sunrises, sunsets, moonlight on the water. It seemed like it was never a bad time to just stare out. That being said we also set up our own camping chairs on the beach one afternoon to just relax and take in the views. Again, we got lucky as not one other guest was out there so it was all ours which was so peaceful. The breakfast area was decorated very nicely. They had a great coffee/tea station and plenty of food options. The hotel was also very walkable to food/activities/drinks in town. We would definitely choose to stay here again. My only complaint is there is only one ice machine (near the lobby) and from where our room was it was a journey, but if that's my only complaint I'll take it.

First time at a Best Western. I am going to look into staying at Best Western Plus instead of Hilton from now on. Room was so comfortable. Walking distance to restaurants. The beach was so beautiful. I can't wait to go back!

Excellent hotel! Room was luxurious, amenities exceptional & staff amazing! Balcony view of Lake Superior was so fun. Staff went above & beyond to make our stay wonderful. Breakfast was excellent & the staff there attentive. Spent our evenings by the fireplace in the lobby reading. So sad to leave!

We take at least annual trips to Grand Marais but this was the first time staying at the BW Superior Inn. It was perfect--nice room, absolutely amazing view (and we left the balcony door open a crack to hear the waves), and a luxuriously comfy bed.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The lobby and dining area are spacious and have a tasteful north woods decor. It is located right on the shore of Lake Superior with spectacular views from the rooms. Walking distance to the very unique town with great galleries, shops and restaurants yet located well for heading to the Gunflint Trail. Fall colors were spectacular and the Superior Inn enhanced our first visit to the area!

I booked a room with Best Western Plus Superior Inn, Grand Marais, MINNESOTA. When I checked in it was past 4pm and they gave me a room with Odor full of dog smell so I called front desk to switch a room but they said I booked a room with Pet friendly and it's in the fine print. My son is allergic to dog/cat hair why would I book a room that's pet friendly to begin with. They said the room I chose is fully booked ( King size bed with balcony) but I can switch to two queen size bed for extra cost on my end. It was past 4pm we were tired and wanted to rest. Sure we did that and when we went back to front desk they gave me a room that's still in cleaning. We waited over 30 mins for our room to be cleaned and it was almost 5pm when we actually could get in to our room. I have to say the front desk is very poorly trained and they blamed me for not reading the fine print. Paid almost $300 for a room that I didn't pick. It was a very disappointing weekend get away. I booked a room with a tub so we can take a bath, but after paying more. No king size bed, no tub nothing I was so annoyed. The view is amazing but we will not be back.

The entire staff was very caring and professional throughout our stay, all had infectious attitudes and you could tell they really enjoyed their jobs. The restaurant/lounge was very nice, well decorated and made you feel like you were at home. We had a fantastic stay. The rooms had balconies overlooking Lake Superior and just a comfortable feeling.

Our room was decorated nicely, clean, and had a nice view of Lake superior and the beach including a balcony. The lobby area have a large fireplace and was impressive. The gal at the desk was very friendly and helpful. The only knock I would have is breakfast was only served until 9 AM

We decided last minute to take the weekend off and get away. I called last minute for a room; booked right away. Our daughter and granddaughter were welcomed as a last moment add on without any difficulty. Our room was ready right when we arrived; The pre- checkin option is great. Bed was a little firmer then I prefer and pillows softer then I use at home but, over all I slept great! The staff is great and super helpful! I didn't even mind that I didn't have maid service each day!

I am generally not a fan of Best Western hotels but there aren't many options for where to stay in Grand Marais. This hotel far exceeded our expectations! Updated rooms are large and have everything you need: comfortable beds & pillows, mini frig, long vanity outside of the toilet/shower room (which was a bit small), wonderful double shower head, comfortable chairs in addition to desk chair and decent sized balcony with great views of the lake, which is right there! Staff was very friendly & accommodating. Breakfast selection was impressive & food was tasty. Coffee, tea and filtered water was available 24/7. There is a large whirlpool that we enjoyed, & there were plenty of clean pool towels available. Although we didn't have time to use the gym, it looked very nice & had a water cooler there. We were there in August when the room cost ~$300/night. Not sure it was worth that price, but it was a nice place to enjoy this beautiful part of the country.

If you're looking for the traditional hotel with full staff and amenities, this is the place. I've stayed at 4 other properties in town (2 hotels/2 Airbnb style "hotels"), and the BW Superior Inn was nearly as nice as the boutique accommodations with the added convenience of a great staff and decent amenities. Very clean property too. Superb location that's not too close to the "traffic" areas, but close enough to walk to them. On top of it, Scott was a very engaging and hard-working host.

Grand Marais Best Western Hotel did not disappoint. Great service, clean and the best view of Lake Superior right out the patio door! Loved hearing the sound of the waves. A little higher priced, but so worth it. Friendly and very helpful staff.

The rooms here are spacious, quiet and comfortable and the view cannot be beat. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was fine. We even ordered off the menu for an evening meal and it was tasty.

My husband & I stayed in several hotels during two trips this summer, and this was our favorite by far. Our room's private balcony overlooked Lake Superior and the beautiful beach, and was perfect for enjoying the nice weather and moonrise. The facility was modern & clean, the staff was friendly & helpful, breakfast was tops, and the location allowed us to walk everywhere we wanted to go in town.

We've stayed at this hotel several times and it's always been enjoyable. The staff are extremely friendly, the renovated hotel is beautiful, and the views are outstanding. The large hot tub is great for unwinding at the end of the day, and the bar & restaurant, while small, offers a solid selection of wine, beer, flatbreads and salads.

It was our 30th wedding anniversary and we wanted to go hiking and rock hunting. The hotel is fine but our room smelled so nasty. There was a horrible odor that they tried to cover with some kind of cleaner or air freshener thing. So we had two disgusting, overpowering smells. We tried to air it out, soak up the smell with baking soda and air diffuser. Luckily we spent most of our time out in nature but I gagged when I walked back into the room. I wore my mask when I was in the room. The room itself was fine. The view was lovely. I would have appreciated a real door for the bathroom instead of a barn door. I think they should pull out the carpet and replace it with the flooring they used in the bathroom.

I thought the hotel was excellent. The breakfast was tasty with a variety of offerings. My room was quite and I could not hear the rooms around me. The front desk staff was nice. It was a perfect location. The only thing that would have been nice would be some chairs on the beach

Hotel was pretty standard. I was expecting more for the average nightly price. The exterior and landscaping could use some work. The parking was not great. There was minimal area to park and the lot they do have is extremely cramped and hard to get in and out of. The location of the property is nice, however they way the hotel is layed out they really wasted most the balcony rooms to look at the back of the food co-op instead of looking out at the lake. There was only 1 ice machine. Overall it was a decent hotel, but I was expecting much more for the price.

Outstanding room and the view of Lake Superior is not to be missed. You will be right on the beach. Nothing better than that and you can hear the waves in bed. The room isn't huge but it's newly remodeled with the best finishes, like the glass door walk-in shower. Breakfast is served in a huge fireplace room. Breakfast is slightly above-average.

I asked to be on a waiting list for a room for an up coming weekend. I was told there was a3 night minimum. I was contacted by phone they had a cancellation and there was a room available. Upon arriving was told I only had 2 nights reserved. The front desk said they would help me find s3rd night in town. They never helped. Just apologized and said that it was emailed to me that it was only 2 nights and they couldn't help me more. It was not small town help. We drove through the night to get back home. Very disappointed in the care we received!!

Overall great place with. Great location. great service, nice people but being the view is of Lake Superior from deck, grasses are not cut attracting bugs and just a sore eye to look at, even if they consider natural and the beach is tired looking. Could use a grooming for the day to enjoy a bit better since there is sand. But room was clean, great bed, amazing breakfast but I'd say work on your yard!

A surprisingly well maintained and run Best Western with a great location in Grand Marais, MN. that exceeded our expectations. The gym and spa were very well maintained and all equipment was very good. Friendly helpful staff.

We usually don't stay at Best Western properties, but a friend of mine with a cabin in the area suggested this one. We were not disappointed! The hotel is super clean and the staff is very friendly, striking up a conversation when you see them. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of pillows. We had a lake view room and it was extremely clean and the view was beautiful! I liked they have the option of pre-registering prior to arrival, it made checking in so smooth. It's a 2 minute walk to all the cute shops. I love the interior decor of the hotel and rooms. If I had one complaint it was the breakfast had the same items both mornings we were there, it was tasty, but adding some waffle makers would be a good addition, especially for the kids. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you!

We booked a king lakeside room with a marvelous view of L Superior. Our private balcony was a bonus. What a view! The hotel is just a little over an hour away from Grand Portage State Park and Grand Portage National Monument, both worthshile destinations.

Big punch in a little package. Great view and close to the World's Greatest Donuts and Ben Franklin. We used the hotel as our base because of the location. As older travelers we liked that there was an elevator to our third floor room, good view.

Wonderful location, fantastic service and is a must if you are traveling with dogs! Clean rooms with everything you need. Staff all have a smile on face and I went into this with very low expectations as this was a last minute two day trip and I needed a place that would except two dogs. I am not trying to sound like that person but, my family usually stays in upscale hotel chains and the Four Season's is our go to hotel and it is common for us to spend $3,000.00 to 9,000.00 a night. For a small fraction of that price, you can stay here with your dogs and everything is clean and comfortable and you cannot beat the views and service is AWESOME!!! What a hidden gem and I have been coming to the North Shore for 50 years! Please keep doing what you are doing at this hotel as this is an AWESOME place to stay!!!! Be back soon and many many thanks!!!!!

Always clean and well maintained. The Lakeviews are outstanding, the decor is nice and is current. Let's talk about the AMAZING bed. I've not slept this good nor has my wife in years. We both suffer from different pains that make sleep difficult. Not here. Great breakfast for continental. So close to everything in town. One star off for not great furniture in our room. The couch cushions slid all over, not comfortable. No chair to just sit in and comfortably read or whatever.

Very expensive stay. Almost $1,000 for 3 nights! So many taxes added to room price that we were blindsided with. Breakfast was the worst I have ever experienced in a hotel. Absolutely nothing good to say about it.

Do you love to hear the waves of Superior lapping at the shore as you drift off to sleep? If so, this is the hotel for you. Located right along the shore, many room have a private balcony that overlooks the lake. Talk about a serene atmosphere!

This hotel is top quality, located on the lake. We had our own private balcony which gave us a partial view of Lake Superior. Clean room, comfortable bed. We had a handicapped accessible room, which we did not actually need, but we enjoyed the large bathroom and extra large shower! Complimentary breakfast was great with lots of good food options. Dinner and lunch menu available too, and a bar. The only thing that kept this from a 5 rating was the extemely SLOW internet service, plus we had to re-connect our computer and phones everytime we came back to our room after leaving the property! Also, the occasonal barking dogs were not appreciated early in the morning! Lots of construction going on. so there was construction noise too, but that is out of the hotel's control. Good location. We could have walked to more places if not for the constructon.

We have stayed at this hotel before - I think it is the nicest hotel option in Grand Marais. The hotel's location could not be better: it is situated right on Lake Superior - many rooms are dead-center lakefront - and others have a side lake view - but even the side lake view is really nice. The finishes and decor are better than an average Best Western. The staff is very nice: personable and professional. My one disappointment on this visit was the room service dinner. Evenings they serve a small menu of salads and flatbread pizzas - I did not enjoy the Artichoke Pizza - The Waldorf Salad was better. Covid has stressed all Grand Marais restaurants and hotels - the staff really tried very hard to make the best of a very difficult year. Breakfast was better, served in the nice room off of the lobby. We took breakfast to our room and enjoyed the lake view.

We had a great 3 day stay at this hotel with our 10 friends celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary. The owner of this hotel was great. Treated us like royalty. Would definitely come back to stay. Definitely a five star stay

We love BW Superior Inn. Wonderful location, great staff, friendly, helpful and comp breakfast. This past stay was very stressful with the ongoing gatherings on the beach by other guests...bonfires, drinking, screaming children, big dogs running around, bug spray, etc. I'm not sure when the hotel policy changed that allowed gatherings on the beach for hours on end, but it was awful. The entire idea of this get away is to enjoy the lake and the balcony at the hotel and it was impossible with the craziness happening each evening. So I give it 5 stars because all of our previous stays were wonderful and I truly hope management patrols the beach and their guests better in the future. It is not fair to all the other guests to have to deal with disrespectful people for 3 nights in a row.

We thought that the room was very nice and the beds were amazing. We enjoyed the view and location, being able to walk to town with all the construction going on was great. Things fell apart when we decided to go get a glass of wine and something to eat from the cafe. I realize staffing is an issue but there was one employee running the front desk, answering phones, bartending, cooking and serving in a hotel that was completely booked. It took 20 min to get wine so we gave up ordering food. We felt bad for this one employee who was completely over their head.

This hotel is fantastic! The view can not be beat and the sound of the waves is amazing! However, when you close the patio door it is completely silent. Super comfortable and pillows. And the breakfast was good too!

Road construction & a shortage of employees are a challenge for Grand Marais this season. Navigating both the town and the hotel required more effort than usual. We appreciated the walkability from the hotel, once we got oriented.

Room was a standard 2 queen size room but was clean and updated with a great shower and small but private balcony that looks out on Lake Superior. The balcony was perfect to enjoy breakfast on listen to the sounds of the waves. Staff were friendly and helpful and gave recommendations of where to eat in the area. The hotel was full due to Memorial Day weekend but it never felt like breakfast was crowded. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanted to enjoy the North Shore and still have first class hotel amenities.

Our room was so cozy and a beautiful view. The bed was so comfy and the steam shower was amazing! We had a gorgeous view and balcony of the lake and sipping coffee out on our balcony was so relaxing. The hotel offered breakfast and great coffee.

The hotel is located on the lakefront and provides excellent views. The spa pool is very nice and the shoulder sprays work well. The location is also easy walking distance to multiple dining options, plus a brewpub, plus the "Worlds best donuts". At breakfast the second day, the fruit options were limited, and quickly out of bananas. I asked the desk staff and they got us one that had been allocated for the next day.

Clean room and great view of Lake superior! My husband and I had a great weekend get a way together. It was clean, quiet and had everything we needed. I loved that I could step outside and be right on lake superior and right next to the food and shopping in Grand Marais.

We stayed in grand marais so we could explore the north shore. This hotel was exceptional. Beautiful views of the lake. From the hotel, you can walk downtown for shopping and dinner.the hotel has a beautiful room adjacent to the lobby with beautiful pictures of the area.

Beautiful lobby and hotel. All rooms face Lake Superior with decks. We enjoyed having the sliding glass door open to hear the waves. Friendly and helpful staff. Grab and go breakfast had an omelet option. Nice big hot tub and big workout room to use. Quiet. Big walk-in shower. On site laundry. Lounge was beautiful and quiet which offered a nice place to eat breakfast or take-out meals or drinks. Reasonably priced.

Arrived for a getaway for my sister's birthday. So pleased with the lakeview room and had an awesome time. Forgot my jacket in the room so Scott emailed me and we swung in on way back from the border. :)

Used the hotel as a base for activities along the North Shore. Staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was large and clean. All rooms have a great view of Lake Superior. Covid protocols seem to be good.

My wife and I rented the king suite 1 room with jacuzzi and steam shower. Also had a lake view and fireplace with tv mounted above. Everything worked and the rooming finishings and furnishings weren't cheap or outdated. The bed was also very comfortable! The sound of the waves off the lake was soothing with the patio door open (balcony was awesome too). Overall enjoyed the stay despite Covid restrictions that made the breakfast a bagged meal only and the whirlpool limited in amount of people allowed at a time. Only recommendation is that this place should have a pool so families with children can enjoy it more.

I called and made my reservation. I specifically asked if "their pool is open"? The hotel told me "yes the pool is open until 10pm". There isn't a POOL! Its a 3 foot whirlpool. The boss was a jerk. I told him that I was told they had a pool. He told me "most people look that up online". I said that his workers told me false information. He was a jerk.

We had a great experience! Everyone wore masks! Guests and employees! We had a suite! The shower was awesome! So large! We felt very covid safe here. Our view was beautiful! I have already booked a suite for our daughter and son-in-law for their Anniversary! They love Grand Marais!

This place is right on the shore with a nice sized beach. I was surprised to see it competitively priced with hotels like it the were not on the shore. It's also at the edge of the downtown shopping/restaurant area. The staff went out of their way to meet our needs. We arrived late, on a weeknight in February when most of the restaurants were closed. The desk manager offered us some good carryout food from the restaurant. The carryout breakfast was very good too, better than others I have had in other hotels during covid. Our room was clean and quiet and right across the street from the snowmobile trail. The pet policy is generous so we are looking forward to returning in warmer weather to go hiking with our dog.

Beautiful location. Waking up to the fabulous view of Gitche Gumee was amazing. So peaceful and calm. Very clean hotel with an accommodating and courteous staff. We will definitely return to this location!

This part of Minnesota, all the buildings are timber. The downside is that, without proper design, internal noises could be an issue. And it was an issue when we stayed. The next room and hallway noises are too loud for us to get any sleep inside ours. We lveed the location and staffs here.

There's no pool here, but there is a very large whirlpool and nice fitness center. All the rooms face the lake and the hotel is right next to it. I could hear the sound of the waves through my balcony door. Beautiful room with a tiled shower and glass doors. Free bkfst in a bag with an omelet. Really helpful and friendly staff!

Stayed here for a long weekend to get out and about. Was impressed at how clean and modern the rooms were. Staff were cleaning and masked. Dining area had a nice selection of menu items and view of lake was great. They have a very large hot tub on the lower level and are limiting the access to four people at a time. My wife an I used the hot tub and there were no other users when we were there. Everyone was conscious of social distancing. Will definitely stay there again

I stayed at this hotel for the weekend with a small group of friends. I had stayed here in the past, so knew it to be a dependable place to stay in Grand Marais, but this was our first hotel stay in the Covid era, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the good adherence to Covid practices in terms of masking, breakfast service, and overall practices. (Unfortunately, that meant we couldn't use the whirlpool because it was restricted to 4 and was always occupied, but we understood.) Right in the middle of town, it is walking distance from most anything, right on the lake, and the great food coop is literally next door. Friendly service, clean and comfortable rooms and beds.

WOW! We've visited Grand Marais many times but have never stayed at a hotel, as we are usually camping or staying in a cabin. We needed a hotel for one night and prices were half way decent. These rooms are usually out of our budget range because of the times we visit the area. I was impressed with how clean the hotel was, the view we had of Lake Superior from our room, and how quiet the hotel was. The lobby also had a little bar/happy hour time and I wasn't impressed that people were in the lobby, without masks so they could drink their happy hour drinks. This could easily still take place with rules about having to take your drinks to your room. I also wish we could have had control of the fan to have it run all night so that we could have a little white noise while sleeping. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Wow, is all I can say! Great price, Ah-mazing view, staff was excellent, clean rooms, updated rooms, great breakfast, great location- our entire stay was incredible. They offered a to-go breakfast each morning & fresh coffee!

Me and my family had to check in here due to the poor weather conditions in this area. Kris was very helpful in checking process and was quite nice to explain about food options in the area. The room was very clean and comfortable. The room we got was on the 1st Floor overlooking the mighty Lake Superior. We will be back here in summer to spend few days here.

From the moment I stepped foot into the lobby, it was clear this family owned and operated hotel strives to deliver a premium guest experience. Can't say I've ever laid my head down in a cleaner or nicer Best Western. Great modern furnishing, luxurious towels, super cool night lighting under the bathroom vanity for those middle of the night visits to the loo. Beautiful bathrooms and step in showers with full glass enclosures. And again, clean, clean, clean! Highly recommend!

I would highly recommend this hotel for your next stay in Grand Marais. Its perfect location with a view of Lake Superior is great in any season. Helpful staff. Well-appointed rooms. Extremely safe adaptations during corona virus pandemic.

Amazing experience. Best location to enjoy the North Shore. Close to the best places to visit. We enjoyed the view to the Lake Superior. The Sunrise and the Sunset was so beautiful without forget the moonlight. The room was perfect and comfortable. Made our Anniversary super romantic. Totally recommend it.

Not a luxury hotel by any means but this is a great place to stay when visiting Grand Marais mostly because of the location which moves my rating from a 4 to a 5. It is located in town within walking distance of the scenic harbor area. Many rooms with nice views of the lake and beach area with sliding glass doors that open on to a small balcony or patio. Room was large with comfortable beds and a modern bathroom and shower. The hotel is doing a good job following safety precautions during Covid.

We stayed here in August and enjoyed every minute! We had a room on the main level with a great little balcony looking out over the lake. The room was comfortable and the bed was amazing! They had a great bag breakfast put together for us and it was different each day. The hotel was super convenient as we were able to walk to the lake, restaurants, etc. Highly recommend the hotel.

There are very few options available when tourist season is wrapping up, and this a solid choice any time of year! Beautiful view of the lake/access to the lake. Lovely showers. Breakfast was shockingly decent (definitely order the muesli and warm in the microwave! YUM).

Hotel is beautiful and located right on the lake - the rooms with a lake view provide excellent views of the lake by moonlight and at sunrise. Rooms have a very nice modern design, with every convenience you would expect. The staff was exceptional during our stay- very friendly, and they went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and worry-free. Overall great experience.

We made a last minute get away to the North Shore area. Looking for a pet friendly hotel and the Best Western fulfilled this need. They were nicely located in town. Their Covid friendly breakfast was only ok but was prompt and warm each morning. Their coffee bar was nice in the lobby. The hot tub was nice and roomy with plenty of signage about the maximum capacity during Covid. Hotel room was nice, with a larger newly remodeled shower.

Room was immaculate and comfortable. Plenty of room to spread out. The view of Lake Superior was incredible and the staff willing to go above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. In walking distance to town and restaurants.

We stayed in the 2nd floor corner King. Had a fireplace and balcony. We really liked the room. Had great views and I brought my portable hammock for the balcony. Within walking distance of everything. Co-op grocery right next door. Customer service was excellent. Very friendly. Didn't care for some of the housekeeping staff. A couple were very helpful but some made a lot of noise and had the radio playing. We had the housekeeping closet right outside our door and they continually let that door slam. None of the rooms or exit doors were soft closed and there was so much slamming doors all day and night. On our last day we had our patio door open and person in room next to us was smoking on balcony. It's a non-smoking hotel and desk said they'd deal with it but maybe they need some no smoking signs on balcony. Breakfast consisted of bagged items. Came with a small omelet, apple/orange, wrapped cookie/muffin and 8 oz water. They did have a GF breakfast bar option. Would have rather been able to select items such as yogurt and had staff bag selected items. Whirlpool was pretty large and was clean. Very nice exercise room with matrix equipment. We used the hotel laundry. Was a very small washer and 2 dryers. Beach is right outside the hotel. Bring your own chairs as there are none outside.

Drive up to Grand Marais without a destination in mind and picked this place on Lake Superior. When I say on Lake Superior, I mean you open the patio door on your room and you have a small deck overlooking the lake and a beach. Check-in was smooth, although I will say it's more paperwork than I'm used to being a very well-liked Marriott customer. I liked having a small bar in the lobby with beer on tap after a long day drive. There is also a large dining area. Our room was a little on the small-side, but it was comfortable and cozy. The room was on the warm side and we solved that by opening the patio door a few inches. Bathroom was large and looked recently updated. I would stay here again.

My wife and I stayed for three days last week at this terrific hotel. It was the perfect "base" to come back to after our adventures on the trails of the North Shore. The staff is outstanding, the rooms of clean and comfortable and the view of the lake is magnificent. Most importantly, the owners take COVID seriously and because of that we had no concerns about our safety. All staff wore masks and you can pick up your take out breakfast every morning with minimal contact. Everything about this place is really well done! Thanks to Scott and everyone else for making the extra effort to provide this kind of place during these difficult times.

If anything, it gave me an excuse to stay here, as I've been eyeing it for months. Rate was steep - $279 before tax for a 2-queen room. After some reluctance, we took the plunge and booked the last room available on a Friday night. We arrived at 1:00pm and the room was ready (well before the 3:00pm check-in time), which was ideal given we had just finished up our backpacking in nearby Cascade River State Park. After a hot shower and taking in the full lake view from our balcony, we were sold. The fall colors were a couple weeks past their peak, but we enjoyed ourselves in Grand Marais no less. We had never been, and having the BW Plus so close to all the quintessential places (we patronized Voyageur Brewing, Hungry Hippie Tacos and Blue Water Cafe) really made the stay worth the peak season rate. I'm not sure the rates ever go down at this property, however, given its awesome location and well-kept interior. Scott at the front desk was friendly, professional and very well-versed in the hotel's amenities. Covid-era precautions were also mandated and both guests and hotel staff obliged. We didn't partake in the breakfast bag option, but they did provide a $1 off coupon for a tap beer or glass of wine at the small lobby bar, which I used. All in all, I would highly suggest staying at this hotel when in Grand Marais, either after camping for a bit or for visiting Grand Marais as the main attraction. This hotel will fit the bill for any travel experience!

I have stayed here 4 times and each time I am amazed at what a wonderful experience it is. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and serene (I want my bathroom at home to be like the bathroom here). The lakeside views are stunning! We had the most memorable sunrise you can imagine! Grand Marais is the best small town in Minnesota and this hotel is the icing on the cake!

First the pros: Good location. No outside noise. Nice view. Comfortable bed. Very clean up to date room. Friendly staff. Nice whirlpool/hot tub. Cons: Very annoying inside noises. Creaky ceiling when people above moving around. Thin walls. I could hear the person in the adjacent room peeing. I wasn't sure I was hearing correctly but was confirmed when I heard the toilet flush. You can't always depend on people to be courteous but they were noisy in the hallway and could be easily heard . Also, there was a dog that barked in the evening and in the morning. Breakfast is browned bagged because of covid. Considering what you could get prior to covid, you would have thought they could have done better. Breakfast consist of water, apple and a breakfast round with an option for a premade omelette or mueslix. Coffee was available but no juice. We were on the ground floor and our screen door did not have a lock. Without a lock on the screen door we didn't feel comfortable leaving the door open to allow the sound of the waves to lull us to sleep.

This hotel is perfect. All rooms have balconies that overlook the lake. The staff are very helpful. The Covid take away bag breakfast includes your choice of over-night oatmeal or two types of omlets, that was a nice touch. The bathroom was newly updated and the shower was great. Comfortable beds and a great location. Definitely will be my go-to hotel in Grand Marais for future visits.

Was not given the room that I had requested/booked. Front Desk was unwilling to provide any help to provide any satisfaction for their screw-up and even tried to shift the blame on to me for their mistake. Location and rooms are fine, but customer service is incredibly poor. I will stick to renting MUCH better priced AirBnBs in the area than stay here again.

You can hear the waves out your room's balcony and build your own or smell the fire pits on the beach. Grand Marais always has chilly nights, but the huge hot tub will warm you up fast! It's open and not overcrowded even with COVID restrictions. The room bathrooms are also modern and make for a nice hot shower after a day of hiking, biking, Skiing, sightseeing — whatever Lake Superior adventure you find!

This hotel was absolutely wonderful! Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Recently renovated and extremely clean. Our pet-friendly room was also recently renovated, very nice and spacious; and we loved to sit on our own balcony off of our room. Spectacular views of the lake and Artist's Point as well. Hotel was walking distance to everything in town, very nice! We especially appreciated the Continental breakfast with individual bags and also with an option for a hot item (ordered the night before). Our favorite was that food items were offered until 10 pm, which was nice because local eateries close at 8 pm and we are late eaters. Delicious food (flat breads, salads, apps; plus beer and wine), and great service and dining area to eat in. Additionally, staff (and other patrons) followed Covid mask/sanitation protocol, which was great! Thank you so much for an amazing stay, we can't say enough good things and really appreciate everything! We look forward to staying there again! :)

Beautiful hotel and great location. Rooms were spacious and bed very comfortable. Cleanliness was stellar. Breakfast to go was a nice touch. It was basic but in the day of COVID, it is to be expected. Highly recommend as a home base of spending time on the North Shore!

Great Staff, Location and View. Would have gave it a 5 star except for we had LL room and all you could hear were heavy footsteps. Price was very high too. Great for Pets and a getaway. Would recommend as long as get top floor

We stayed for three nights over the Labor Day weekend and loved every minute of it! Check in was quick and the very pleasant desk staff was quick with info about the hotel and the town. Our room was large with a beautiful view over the beach and lake. As others have said ,it was wonderful to relax on the balcony or fall asleep listening to the waves. The hotel was surprisingly quiet as we could not hear any of our neighbors or people in the hall. We did not do the breakfast options offered. They did offer a grab bag and also offered a warm option that you ordered the night before (omelet, meusli). We also loved the hotel's location in walking distance of several restaurants and a grocery store. I would definitely love to stay here again!

Perfect location right near the beach! Hearing the sounds of waves and seagulls, our everyday stress was quickly erased. Due to the Pandemic, the hotel wasn't at full capacity, so the manager offered us a room upgrade at no extra cost. We really appreciated the management and service this hotel offers. Our favorite part of the room was the steam shower. The pillow top bed was very comfy too! Short walking distance to most restaurants and shopping. We hope to be back again next Summer.

Highly recommend this hotel! The location is right on Lake Superior. Rooms are spacious, clean, quiet, and has a balcony that overlooks Lake Superior. Has a beautiful large hot tub with a waterfall inside and a large fitness center. Hotel doesn't have a pool but my kids still had fun warming up in the hot tub at night after wading/ swimming in the lake. Due to COVID they are not offering hot breakfast but still providing hot options that are ready for you the next morning as take out. Location of hotel is perfect you can walk to all the shops downtown and it's right on the beach. Purchase some wood and have a fire one night on the beach. Or bring your telescope for amazing star gazing at night. We saw beautiful sun rises each morning on the beach. We loved sitting on our balcony looking out over the lake each day it was so relaxing! I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to others. Loved this hotel!!!!!

My family and I stayed here along with our 7 month old German Shepard and we all had the best time. From the instant access to the lake to the size of the room. The food at the restaurant was also delicious! We will definitely stay here again!!

We absolutely LOVED our stay at the Best Western Plus Superior Inn!!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone! It was extremely clean and beyond relaxing. It was everything my family and I needed. One HUGE plus for us was that we were able to bring our 10 year old dog who hates to be left behind. We had a pet friendly room and one would never know that there was ever any pets in the room before us. It was so clean and I was very impressed. We came to the shore during a crazy fly season. I LOVED that the hotel had sliding glass doors with screens! It was so enjoyable to just sit in their over-sized comfy chair next to the door, while drinking coffee and listening to the waves outside. Just a note for travelers...you cannot walk right off of the balcony to take your dog out. You do have to go out a different exit to a pet friendly area. The balconies are all blocked off with bars. We will be back...I can't wait to book another trip here! PS: The beds are amazing!!! We had the BEST sleep. I am looking to purchase a new bed after that hotel stay!

We got a pet-friendly room with a nice view of the lake. It was amazing to sit outside on the balcony and take in the breeze with the sounds of the waves crashing. The hotel is very clean and the pet room we got did not smell like any animal had previously stayed in there, which was amazing. The view and proximity to everything in Grand Marais were also incredible. The downside to being on the beach was that people can do what they want. One family decided to have a fire for s'mores and smoked up the entirety of the outside for a few hours. We were so close to the beach that it triggered my husband's asthma and he's still recovering from that. I don't know if the hotel owns the beach, but maybe they could put up a sign to prevent people from doing having fires. It really hindered our enjoyment of beautiful evenings after days of exploration. Secondly, I understand with COVID, breakfast is difficult. But please have some variety. Eggs make my stomach sick and that was the only option every single day. We stayed at a cheaper hotel in Duluth (like less than half the price) and their breakfast was considerably better with PBJ sandwiches, juice, granola, yogurt, muffins, and water. Lastly, why is the door to the bathroom a sliding door?!?! My spouse and I like privacy when nature calls. Otherwise, it was a great stay and I would definitely visit again.

Did not honor room reservation request. Room is poor quality, dark, old fashioned and overpriced. Website is outdated, cannot be used to change reservations. Man at front desk was unfriendly, refused to even try to help with requests, and did not pay attention to social distancing guidelines. Only positive thing is good location.

Great place to see the north shore and Grand Marais. View from the room is great too. Stay was during covid shutdown so some restaurants were not open but still enjoyable. The management was helpful to add one more noght to our stay.

This is a pretty large hotel, RIGHT ON THE WATER. It's well maintained and what staff we had contact with were very good. We loved that they were serious about masks and distancing. They had adjusted the normal breakfast routine by giving you a choice of a 'main' item and adding a couple of other things, like yogurt, which worked well for us. Our room was really nice...Large windows looking out either side of a corner onto different views of the lake, with a cozy fireplace.

Pure awesome. We are booking our next trip already! One our friends had a birthday while we there, the hotel manager found d out and provided her with a coffee mug! Way above and beyond. Grand Marais is spectacular.

Our room smelled of pet urine. They did not have another room available to switch us to the first night, but did manage to switch us to another room the second night, only to find that room had a strong smoke smell. Told they would deorodize the room when we were out, but came back to the same smoke smelling room. None of their rooms are dedicated non-pet or non-smoking room. A huge mistake as not everyone can tolerate pet dander / urine or smoke. Did not offer to discount our room at all. Very disappointing room stay for our first trip to Grand Marais.

Very clean and well maintained property. Loved our room and staff was very friendly. Only complaint was breakfast which was terrible. Understandably, COVID has required modified offerings, but it was truly pathetic. Just skip it and go to one of the local places for a great breakfast.

We were emailed confirmations of our both of our reservation with pricing that included a fees and sales tax. We were then charged more for both stays. We brought this to their attention but was told oh it's just sales tax. We looked and nope our reservation included sales tax. When told this they responded we added extra persons fees. We clearly stated the size of our family when we were making our reservation and had to get two room. We were told we are going to give you a deal on two rooms. We clearly did not get a deal. We will not be utilizing this motel again.

We paid a premium price for our room. The view was incredible and it was great to be right on Lake Superior but I know it was due to the Covid Pandemic but the room service was cut way back and the breakfast was not good at all.

Beauty abounds in this north shore location and we have stayed at many other places over the years. This Best Western was lovely before the current updates. It is even better now. The view of Lake Superior from the room is breath taking! The bed is so comfortable it had me peeking under the pillow cases for the brand to duplicate at home. My husband uttered that we should replace our shower head with one like the room offered. The room was clean and the service great. Staff minding masking and social distancing. The only thing that would have made this trip better is if mandating that all customers mask as well.

The hotel is clean and well maintained. The front desk people were very nice and were quick to help with anything that was needed. The hot tub is large and very relaxing. The hotel is within walking distance to all of downtown. We will stay here again.

Our room was tiny, the bathroom door was a sliding door and didn't seal tightly so no privacy, smokers below us kept us off our balcony, and the prices are way out of bounds. Too expensive for an average family, in my opinion. Probably would not stay here again

Our room was stunning. Our favorite part about staying was Shaun at the front desk. Not sure who the young girl was working during the day but she had alot of attitude. My husband and I planned to be back in early August with some friends however we just learned Shaun is no longer working at this hotel so we will be staying someplace else. Sad this company would let such a valuable employee leave!

Come on best western plus - you must be able to do better. Great jacuzzi and work out room, but room and decor getting tired and Covid breakfast bags were hugely lacking - small bottle water, dry scone, breakfast sandwich.

Rooms facing the water are VERY worth it. Shaun at the front desk was incredible. Everyone was very friendly and things felt very clean. Food was yummy too! Loved the beach as well. Will definitely be staying here again.

Waterfront rooms here are wonderful. We were able to step right out of our door and onto the beach. Location to downtown is ideal with walking distance of only one short block from the waterside. (Two blocks if leaving through the lobby.) It is pricey. I guess, when you are this remote, you can get top dollar; however, they do a good job of providing a clean and comfortable environment for this cost. Beds were comfy. Gas fireplace sparked right up. Views of Lake Superior were supreme! I can't speak for the restaurant as we stayed during the times of Covid, so the restaurant was more-or-less closed. We did get some food from the kitchen which was a little lack-luster. You'd be better off eating somewhere in town, I would think. Overall, it was very nice and I would stay there again (especially if I could get a discount coupon!).

Shaun was great and the hot tub was nice. The view to the lake was amazing. It would have been nice to have a pool that was inside and a place to have a fire outside. We enjoyed ourselves. It was peaceful and needed!

The hotel feels new and fresh. Our other experiences with dog friendly rooms have been lackluster and felt stale. Our room at the Best Western was the exact opposite. This will definitely be our go to hotel in the area with or without our dog.

Stayed in the steam shower suite. It was AMAZING right on lake superior. We enjoyed listening to the waves, relaxing, chasing our 1 year old. Wish it wasn't so expensive. But it was definitely worth it.

I was VERY happy to have a nice place to stay in Grand Marais (right on the water) where we could be joined by our dog! Well done! The hotel is an easy walk to restaurants, shops, and the North House Folk School as well as the Grand Marais Art Colony. A very good stay all around!

We spent a couple nights midweek here and were so happy we chose the Best Western. The service was great and room nicely updated. We had dinner there one night and surprised how delicious it was. Also their breakfast bar was loaded with choices. We would definitely stay here again.

I take a trip to Grand Marais 3-4 times a year and always stay at this hotel without even looking into other options. Location is perfect, especially for capturing the sunrise over the lake, I can take excellent pictures right from my room balcony. Rooms are comfy, breakfast options are delicious and the food options in the bar area are wonderful. I am already looking forward to my next trip!

Gorgeous view of Lake Superior being right on shoreline! Whole facility beautifully appointed down to the smallest details. We had a suite with fireplace and jacuzzi and couldn't have asked for more. A bit pricey for Northern MN but “you get what you pay for”!

Staff was very friendly and the hotel was in great shape. Comfy rooms and lobby, yummy breakfast, and cute and cozy decor. The whirlpool was awesome for our cold bodies after camping and skiing on the SHT and at Lutsen. It's also walking distance from all of the major things in Grand Marais. Get a lakeside room to hear the waves all night.

We stay at this facility at least once a year. When in Grand Marais this is our go to place. Facility is well appointed, great staff, breakfast and lounge. Easy access to everything. Wonderful views from rooms

Facilities were attractive and clean. Just be aware the third floor rooms are not connected to each other and not served by elevator. We had to go down to go over and back up to go down, and by the time we learned our way around it was time to go. So if accessibility is a concern, be sure to verify your specific room!

We took a mini family vacation and spent the night at the beautiful hotel in lovely Grand Marais The room is bright and large and impeccably clean. The balcony with two chairs and table were well used to sit and watch majestic Lake Superior. From check in to check out the staff were friendly and accommodating Continental breakfast better than most. Highly recommend this place

This hotel is worth the money! The hot tub is huge and very clean. I love sitting in it and it can fit so many people. The breakfast is even better! You can have pancakes hot off the machine, lefsa, pastries, hot eggs and potatoes and a meat. I didn't need to eat the rest of the day practically! And a really nice atmosphere for sitting and hanging out having breakfast or just drinking coffee.

This hotel has amazing unobstructed views of Lake Superior, with the water being steps away. Convenient location walkable to shops and restaurants and artist point. Easy day trip to Thunder Bay or up the Gun Flint Trail.

Lovely upgraded room with jacuzzi tub and fireplace. Very thoughtfully layed out. King bed is very cozy - lots of pillow! Very clean rooms. Breakfast area is very cozy and food was good. The location is perfect as you can walk to the downtown/lakefront area to take advantage of all the little shops and restaurants.

Pulled in late at night on a Sunday and luckily they had a room for me as everywhere else had nothing available. Staff got me checked in and to my room within minutes. Nice breakfast spread in the morning. Awesome little beach area. Huge hot tub:)

Booked a balcony room, only to be put in a basement room overlooking a dog pooping station. Showed front desk staff confirmation of my reservation says I paid and booked a balcony room, only to be told by them that the online system doesn't know their rooms, and I should have called to make my reservation.

Most of the rooms in this hotel face Lake Superior and the view is really nice. It's very easy to get to, and right in the middle of town, so it's easy to walk to whatever you care to do. Rooms were nice - bathroom/shower was a really small room, but the shower itself was plenty big. Sink is outside of that, and we prefer that arrangement. There is a lot of variety in the continental breakfast, so everyone can find something they like. The big hot tub is excellent. Staff is very friendly and efficient. One thing was that the pillows were smaller than normal. Instead of fitting 2 pillows side by side on a queen-sized bed, these pillows are the same thickness as normal, but can fit 4 side by side on the same queen-sized bed. I slept with 2 side by side because just one was odd. A google search tells me that this is starting to be done at more hotels.

Excellent service, convenience, ambiance, and the best experience of the view and power of Lake Superior is right outside every room of the hotel. An elevator accommodates guests; the whirlpool with 3 foot wide waterfall massages aching hiking muscles. I would recommend this hotel to anyone at any time for the year. The variety of suites, kings and queens with comfortable beds are appreciated.

The hotel was very beautiful, and the staff was so very helpful and courteous. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast, and the accommodations for a gluten free diet were very helpful. The hot tub was very nice, though I thought it would have been nice to have the shower inside the room, versus across the hall. We thought the king bed was very comfortable. Definitely will return.

...see what I did there, with the rhyming? :-) But really, this was a wonderful stay from booking to check out. My mom and I decided on a Labor Day road trip up north last-minute and I called two days before our intended Saturday-night stay, fully expecting to find them fully booked. Instead, the fantastic desk clerk who answered immediately booked me a 2Q room. Check in after a day of hiking (we were exhausted) was seamless; both workers at the front were amazing--great energy, welcoming smiles, and a real eagerness to help. A special shout-out for Shaun and his amazing dinner recommendations! The view was unbeatable, our room walked right out to the beach, no more than 20 yards from the water. The location is walkable to everything in town but still incredibly quiet. Although our room could use some upgrades, it seemed like the full property might be in transition--the bathroom was quite new, for example, so they're definitely starting the upgrade with the important stuff. Final verdict : a great stay in a great town, definitely recommend.

First trip to Grand Marais and this relatively new hotel has fantastic balcony views. Rooms spacious, clean and well amended. Easy check in. Lobby area inviting and plenty of information regarding dining and things to do in the area

Very clean, comfortable, beautiful view of Lake Superior, and the breakfast was very good. Coffee available all day was a plus. Listening to the sound of the waves on Superior was awesome. Great location to the Main Street, shops and dining. Will definitely stay here again. Thank you!

This was our favorite place to stay on our trip up the North Shore. Stayed two nights. The room was large, clean and modern. Beds super comfy. Patio doors right on the waters edge-one night slept with doors open to hear the waves. Right next to Artist Point which is excellent at sunset. Hot tub was nice. Breakfast was good. Staff was excellent-Sean at the front desk was a hoot.

Their location is a bit hard to find. Both my car's navigation, and Google maps navigation, wanted to take us to the back lot. The lobby side has no specific "Best Western" signage. As soon as we mentioned this at checkin, the clerk took on an impatient, less friendly demeanor. Room was "feet" from the shore. The sound of waves was very relaxing.

I just want to move in here and never leave. It was like the perfect hotel experience. My bad I booked it to serve an overnight crashpad when on a road trip. You gotta STAY HERE and ENJOY. There breakfast was made with LOVE, I tell you. An egg bake with herbs and sausage bits. Sliced wurst. Nicest mustards. Very good coffee. Fell asleep with the sounds of the surf hitting the shore quietly. I love it. This hotel is not just any hotel. It's a resort. Spend time there.

I've been staying at the Best Western Superior Shores every year since the early 80s and always look forward to our next visit. We always stay in the dog-friendly wing and enjoy taking our dogs on long walks around Artist's Point and the Breakwater before relaxing on the balcony with a nice cup of coffee. The hotel is very welcoming to pets (in the oldest wing of the hotel) and fellow pet-owners all seem to do a good job of cleaning up after their dogs and keeping them quiet. The nicest rooms in this hotel don't permit pets but we figure the joy of travelling with our dogs is more important than having a fireplace or Jacuzzi in the room. The relatively new lobby and breakfast area with a huge fireplace is a nice addition to the hotel and we appreciate the constant supply of fresh coffee and excellent complimentary breakfast. . All the non-pet-friendly rooms are lake front and look directly over the beach. The pet-friendly rooms are almost all in the Beargrease wing which faces Artist's Point and are lake view instead of lake front. Most of the Beargrease rooms have a nice balcony with 2 chairs and a small table (as do all the lake front rooms). The lower level has 3 (I think) rooms with no balcony which, in addition to the lake, overlook the dog walking area. I'm guessing these non-balcony rooms are likely the cheapest rooms offered in the hotel and I would only book them if nothing else was available. The hotel was designed so that all the rooms are at least lake view and the long hallway has windows overlooking the lower parking lot. They do have an elevator but it doesn't service the Beargrease wing so rooms in that section require a few steps.

This has become the go-to place for my wife and I to enjoy a romantic getaway. I plan on it becoming our regular spot for anniversaries and special weekends for just the two of us. Gran Morais is a lovely place to eat, drink, and enjoy the atmosphere.

We visit this area at least once a year. We always stay here bcus of the comfort and quality. We also greatly appreciate their dog policy. Why leave Rover home when he is welcome here. It is right on the beautiful Grand Marais beach. Open the windows listen to the seagulls and waves. Doesnt get any better

Wonderful time and wonderful stay at the hotel. We were on a girls trip the we wanted to stay in Grand Marais for a couple of days. The Best Western Plus was in walking distance of the main shopping area.

staff was friendly, room was great. right on lake superior. I slept great after a few days on the gunflint trail. It was a great alternative to the gunflint trail as I had a comfortable bed and felt almost as remote on the shores of Lake Superior

This whole hotel has been remodeled on the inside and it is beautiful! We loved our room! Huge improvement from the past. We will always stay here when near Grand Marais. Great breakfast and super fun to come to a nice lobby bar!

This is a very nice hotel, but is not a luxury resort and is way over priced. The location has nothing to offer in the way of great restaurants and activities or attractions. There is literally nothing to do there. The staff could be much more accomodating...like offering warm cookies or popcorn to guests just arriving or perhaps free movies to be played in the rooms (of course, that would require a DVD player in each room). That sort of welcome can go a long way toward easing the dissappointment one feels upon seeing the hotel and its location.

Spectacular Lake Superior views! Room was extremely clean, bed was comfortable with nice soft pillows. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Staff was on the spot to refill anything that was running low. Automatic pancake maker was a cool addition and far less messy than the typical waffle makers we usually encounter. Didn't use the whirlpool or the gym but in looking at them they both seemed very clean. We would absolutely stay here again! Room price was a bit high but keep in mind that the Grand Marais area in general is a little more expensive than many other vacation spots. Having said that, this hotel was more than competitive with everything else in the area and far cheaper than many, so still well worth the money! And again, THE VIEWS, just gorgeous!

Our family wanted to stay someplace near town for ease of walking around. After reading many reviews of other places in the area, I chose Best Western. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel and room (we stayed in a partial lake view Beargrease suite). The staff are pleasant and very helpful. It was a little more expensive than some of the others I was looking at, but definitely worth the extra cost. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Our 2 night stay was very comfortable! Our room had a balcony facing the lake, so the view was wonderful and we could hear the gentle waves of Lake Superior at night... Very clean, comfortable king sized bed, helpful staff, tasty breakfast, good location and an extra nice whirlpool in the fitness center.

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Superior Inn because of the location in Grand Marais and their dog friendly wing. Upon check in, we were given treats for our pup - dogs are more than tolerated here, they are welcomed, which is really nice! The room itself was really large, clean and well appointed. We had two queen beds, a pull out sofa, balcony, two TVs, microwave, fridge, wood flooring for walking in with the dog, and extra sink in the main area. We would definitely stay here again and bring our dog!

From both website and photos in our room confirmation, this hotel and rooms looked beautiful. Our confirmation indicated the room cost would be 300 per night (with taxes). When we checked in, we were told our room was in the “Beargrease Wing”. When we arrived at the room it was fully in a basement. It smelled damp and like pets. On one side was a view of a concrete parking lot and as I peered out of our “lakeview” window I was met face-to- face with a bulldog going to the bathroom right outside our window. The lake was partially distantly viewable, but we had to peer between dogs/people in what was a de-facto dog park right outside our window. We called front desk and politely asked to be moved to a non-basement room. They were friendly, but hotel was booked all weekend and there could be no changes. Since we were given no choice, we tried to make the best of it and spent our time away from the room. When in the room, we closed the curtains of the “partial lakeview” to avoid the parade of dogs and their owners outside of our window. Adding to the overall disappointment, was when we pulled a cushion off a room chair to find candy wrappers and crushed crackers underneath (also shared with staff). Needless to say, this was not the hotel experience one would expect for $300 per night. Even more odd than the room, was my follow-up experience with hotel management. I wanted to give the hotel a fair opportunity to respond to our concerns before posting a review. I sent two e-mails (no response). I followed up with a call. When I spoke to management, he shared he had read my e-mails and justified the non-response by saying he was “investigating”. He then debated me about our experience and repeatedly referenced that I had checked my confirmation so I should have known. I shared I had checked confirmation, but photos and statements were unclear and misleading. He offered no resolution and told me would continue "investigating". He then followed my call by sending me an electronic history of times/dates I had checked my online reservation which was both beside the point and an odd response to customer feedback. Thus, our experience was both odd and disappointing. Grand Marais is an absolutely beautiful town. We hope to return at some point. However, based on our room and experience with hotel management, I cannot in good faith recommend this hotel. Sadly, even a small token of acknowledgement from the hotel would have gone a long way for us as customers.

Thi hotel is clean and inviting. It is well kept, both the rooms and the public areas. Nice breakfast offerings with quality food items. Staff in the breakfast area kept the food offerings filled and the area neat and clean. This is our third visit to this hotel and we will return again.

We LOVED the town of Grand Marais. This hotel was the perfect location to walk anywhere in the town. It was so convenient to just walk to restaurants, shopping and the beach. The view from the room was fantastic and unexpected. The room had a little patio that overlooked the lake. It was very clean and had a nice tile shower with a double shower head. So much nicer than what I expected. They also had a very nice fitness room, which I didn't use since the weather was great and we got lots of exercise outdoors. But this would be great in the winter or inclement weather. There was a free breakfast which was nice. They kept it clean and well maintained, which I noticed and appreciated. Can't wait for our next trip! We will definitely stay here again!

Teri at the front desk saved our mini honeymoon up north. She was able to juggle open rooms to get us amazing places to stay each night. We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite, an amazing room for us right on the water. We will only stay here when we come back to the north shore. Thank you Teri!!

It was a beautful stay and we loved the comfort of the bed. everything was up to date. Great breakfast and comfortable seating room. Had a drink at the bar and everyone was so helpful and nice. would recommend this place.

Nicely updated sleeping rooms and lobby. Convenient location with great views of Lake Superior. We are big fans of walk in showers without having to step over a tub and our requested room had this desired feature. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the window darkening shade for our east facing window was very effective.

We stayed here for one night before our trip out to Isle Royale. The room was very comfortable with good amenities, and the best part was the balcony facing the water. It was so nice to sit outside; we even had a fox run in front of our balcony! The hotel is in a very convenient location to walk to restaurants and shops. It also includes breakfast, which had a nice variety of offerings and was served in a nice breakfast area.

It seems that they have this hotel setup so all the rooms face the lake with balconies to enjoy the view. We travel frequently and have stayed at 7 hotels in just the past year and this was one of our absolute favorites in all of our travels. The rooms were nicely updated and very clean. They had a microwave along with the fridge so if you want to reheat leftovers or anything you can. I don't know why more hotels don't offer this simple feature! They are a little more expensive than other places but you really get what you pay for here. We only stayed one night in Grand Marais but this hotel has me wanting to go back and take a whole week vacation! One last heads up, the building itself does not say Best Western on it, it just says “Superior Inn.” So if you pull into the lot confused like us and aren't sure if you are in the right spot, you are lol!

Enjoyed our time here. The facilities were fabulous. The breakfast was wonderful and filling. The lobby bar and bistro was delicious. Lots to see and do in this area. Light house, water falls, wish we had gotten to to Isle Royale National Park but boat was broken. Next time. Went to Canada for a day. Wish we had see the northern lights. Reasons to go back

I had a cousin visiting from New Mexico and the sights on the North shore were breathtaking to her. An added bonus was at this great hotel with a balcony and view of the lake. She was in awe over all the beauty. They had a great big hot tub which was very relaxing after a long day of sight seeing and a great breakfast before we left in the morning. Staff was very sweet

Corner King Suite with Balcony right down to the water, and very pleased with the Suite and views, location, good breakfast included, very large oversized Whirlpool/Swimming Pool Combo area, and pleased with overall customer service.

I must admit I was a bit skeptical about Best Western hotels - I have not stayed with this chain in many years. But Grand Marais is quite small and lodging options are limited. This hotel is actually very nice. It has recently been updated and the entire property is well-kept and in very nice condition. Our room was large and beautiful - nicely appointed, with a nice kitchenette/bar area and a small seating area (with two comfortable chairs) near the patio. The hotel location is excellent: directly on the shore (lake views are wonderful) and just to the edge of downtown - you can walk anywhere in town. Staff was pleasant and professional at every turn. One fairly minor gripe: The patio and the furniture on the patio could use a nice sweep. I look forward to staying here again.

Yes, this is a repeat visit for us. This is truly a wonderful property right on the water, with excellent views and is close in so everything is walkable in Grand Marais. The breakfast includes more options than other hotels of this type, and the staff are friendly too. It seems the housekeeping carts are destroying the baseboard heaters in the hallways, though - so management should be taking steps to correct this. You can't go wrong here, but be ready to pay the market rate.

Best Western, Grand Marais, MN Wonderful experience!! We will be back and hopefully it is just as wonderful as this trip. It was clean, modern and the staff was great! We had a lake view room and we loved everything about it. It was awesome to sit on the deck and watch the boats, people and birds. Very relaxing for sure!

While there are many accommodation choices in the area, this hotel has been a favorite of ours for several years. It is located right on Lake Superior, within a couple of blocks of main street (i.e. shops and restaurants). It is very well maintained, with lots of room options. A wonderful breakfast served daily, a lounge for evening beverage without leaving the hotel, comfortable rooms and very knowledgeable and engaging staff. Spent 7 nights there July 2019 - treated to a full moon over Lake Superior, the sound of crashing waves, sailboats and the cutest fox family dashing about in first and last light of the day. Didn't want to leave!!

The Best Western Superior Inn has an excellent location with all rooms facing the lake. We spent three nights there after canceling out on a California trip due to the earthquakes. It is within walking distance of the downtown area so we left our car at the end and explored the downtown and shore on foot. I think housekeeping did an excellent job and Andreea, one of the housekeepers left us a note hoping we enjoyed our stay. As a Best Western Diamond member I did expect a little more from the front desk but to that I say "Oh well".

I found my new favorite place in Grand Marais after my recent stay. The front desk (Sean) was friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable. The breakfast was the best I've ever had in a hotel and included local choices, i.e. wild rice and cranberry bread, egg bakes, sausages, filtered water, various coffees, fruit, etc. The rooms face the lake, were updated, had wifi, and it was easy to walk around town for meals, groceries, etc. The housekeeping could have been a bit more robust...minimalist but not unpleasant. Overall, it was a great find!

Beds very comfortable. Nice view of artist point from our room. Breakfast included fresh pineapple and grapes, which we enjoyed, along with good egg and potato dishes. Good coffee, too. Within walking distance of many stores and restaurants.

Called on 6-27 for one night stay of July 13th and was told that they have a two night minimum stay over the weekend. I asked if they ever get a "one off" rooms that they can't book and Monica stated that she would reseach this. She stated that she had one called the The John Beargrease Room with Senior discount pricing would be 258.00 for a Double Queen with Stair access. I mentioned to hold it and I would call back with credit card to book. I then cancelled my reservation in Duluth and when I called back to to give credit card Terry the front office manager told me that they could'nt honor the one night reservation and that Monica had made a mistake. The room was still available but they couldnt book it for me for one night. I then called last night and left a message for Chuck the Manager to call me today as he was in this morning (6-28-19) but never did. When I called this afternoon he'd already come and gone with no call or follow-up. Very non customer centric service or sense of customer follow-up. Terry was very rude. Don't stay here folks!!

Our visit to the grand Marias area included a one night stay at the best western superior hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff at the front desk was professional and helpful. The bartender in the lounge was pleasant and offered advice about things to do in the area. If you visit Grand Marias this would be a great place to stay!

We travel often. This used to be my all time favorite hotel. Now we pay $200 a night and have to clean our own room. The only positive is a good view and decent breakfast. (The young man working breakfast was awesome). I can't believe it still has such good reviews. The first day we came back after leaving at 10 am to find a paper in the door saying they didn't clean because of a fo not disturb sign. The sign was there in the morning but taken down at 10. We even said good morning to the housekeeper as we were leaving. Shawn at the front desk was nice and apologized. He suggested we talk to the dau manager in the morning so I did. The day manager didn't care. Just "yeah it's in the file and I told them". Day 2 is was cleaned. Day 3 was half done: towels, 1 roll of tp (left one nearly empty) and trash. Beds were not made properly.  It looked like a child made them. Vacuuming wasn't done. Again, I talked to Shawn who kindly apologized and suggested I speak to Chuck or the other day manager. So the next morning I asked for Chuck and the same female said she could help. So, again, I told her about the issue. Again, she cut me off and said she was aware and talked to them. She alluded to it being our fault for leaving at 10 each day. Day 4 it was done really well finally just in time for us to leave. This is the service we get for $200+ a night? The AmericInn we stayed at for $115 provided much better service and a comparable breakfast.

Minnesota Nice. We hear it all the time & now I've experienced it. We arrived on Sunday around 930pm to a single worker on duty. He was tasked with running the phone, counter, bar & restaurant, including the kitchen and he was rather busy. Some people panic in these situations. He did not. The rush seemed to fuel him. We told him to take his time and handle the restaurant patrons before us, as we were in no rush & were absorbing the remodel changes. The patrons joked and mingled. We spoke with several unrelated parties & stories were shared. All the while, the single staff on duty worked diligently and came up with creative solutions. We saw 4 guests approach the desk for various things: towels, shampoo, malfunctioning keys / there were several phone calls / bar refills/ a gent shopping for clothing from the store items / several food orders and, of course, us. Bonus: He called each person by name. On checking us in, he advised the bar and restaurant would be closing soon. He offered to take an order if we hadn't yet eaten, we had. We did opt for drinks, which started at the bar, since the people watching was so good and ended in our room, which was beckoning. On to our room. It overlooks the lake. I fell asleep to the "sounds of the ocean" - aka, lake waves crashing and gulls calling. I woke to the same. No sound machine required. Yes, I legit travel with one. The room was spacious, with a king bed, robes for the 2-person whirlpool (with mood lights), fireplace (15min timer pained me), seating area by the sliding door which overlooks the water, small balcony (very small) with chairs. The room was quiet! All we heard was the sounds of nature, as it should be. Plenty of outlets, including USB ports. I'd have like a bit more balcony space. We truly love it here. The large, open restaurant and welcoming new arrival layout, with the bar by the front desk is lovely. The neutral colors are pleasing. Breakfast fairly standard, with the exception of the cheesy hashbrowns, yum... They've also turned the eggs into a bake- clever and outside the box. There were scones, instead of muffins/donuts, we opted to hold out to try that 1 place. If you get the chance to get the top of the line room, do it. The steam shower is amazing. It was sold out this time, but we'll be back. We'll be back.

My wife and I scheduled a fun week here. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. This was one of the very quietest hotels we have stayed in. The large and beautiful layout of our suite was impressive and greatly appreciated, with a large fireplace and jacuzzi. Our suite was on the third floor and had a balcony overlooking Lake Superior. I'd definitely recommend a suite, and view of the lake. The design of the hotel is different and very appealing. It doesn't look like a standard hotel from the street, and fits right in with the beach and lakefront. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. I forgot to ask how recently the hotel was built, but it looks very brand new. Everything feels new, fresh and clean. There are stone walls in the small lobby, breakfast area and throughout the hotel which is very appealing. The breakfast area has a very high ceiling and large fireplace, providing a great breakfast atmosphere. We went down to the beach and took a long walk along the beach and out to a lighthouse on a point. There's a wonderful view of Grand Marais, at the lighthouse. There are many excellent nearby restaurants with views of Lake Superior and lots of fresh fish options. My wife and I enjoy day hikes and the Grand Marais area provides outstanding day hikes. Lots of hiking along the lake, along rivers, and lots of waterfalls. We've had a lot of day hike vacations, and only the Rocky Mountains have more great day hikes. Even if you're not a hiker, it's easy to walk out to many places and enjoy waterfalls, or a short walk in beautiful nature settings. We've never been here before but definitely plan to be back.

We booked this hotel sight unseen and boy were we happy with it. The hotel is new, fresh, clean, and has a very happy and friendly staff. Our room on the second floor looked out onto Lake Superior and the town of Grand Marais. We could easily walk to the town's attractions. There is a cash bar serving beer and wine and the hotel serves an impressive complimentary breakfast. We made day trips to local attractions, and there are a lot of them. Great place, great stay, great country. We'll be coming back.

This hotel is the only place I stay on the North Shore every year I visit. It's clean and the beds & pillows are so comfortable. Every room is lakeside and the staff is very friendly and accomodating. I don't take time to write many reviews but this one deserves it. I only wish I could stay longer.

Superior Inn in Grand Marais was awesome! Loved sitting on the balcony overlooking Lake Superior and going to sleep listening to the waves. The breakfast was fantastic. The food was fresh and great selections. The staff was super friendly. Everything was great!

We always enjoy this hotel and get the room with the hot tub and also the steam shower. We ha e stayed here a handful of times now. It is directly on Superior and you can listen to the waves while you wake up. This hotel is always a great experience!

Very nice stay at this property, everyone we had interactions with was great from the checkin, housekeeping and breakfast attendant. The view and room was awesome, opening the sliding door to enjoy Lake Superior was awesome. Located easily within walking distance to downtown shopping, dining and sightseeing. The room was incredibly comfortable with a great bed and amenities along with a very well stocked and delicious breakfast. Thank you for flawless and comfortable stay. Will definitely stay again while in the area.

Rooms are facing Lake Superior and are nicely appointed with local flair. Staff were helpful and efficient. Breakfast was a step above thanks to lefse and muslix. Comfortable beds, quality bathroom products.

Every room in this motel has a close view and access the to Lakes' signature turmoil; There is nothing better than opening the balcony door to peer onto the Lake and fall asleep to the crashing waves on the shoreline. The staff was engaged at every level necessary, including the housekeeping staff that followed up with us to assure that we were not in need of anything. The cross-shaped whirlpool with a 4' wide massaging rain fall was invigorating. The entire town was within walking distance and the breakfast buffet is not to be rivaled. We will return again and again.

We received excellent service. Shaun at the front desk was extremely helpful and kind. The rooms are great and the view is amazing. We have stayed here 3 times and each time we're are very happy with our stay.

From the moment we stepped into the place, I was relaxed and comfortable. Everything about this place was awesome. The bed, the shower, the view, the breakfast, the hot tub, everything. They even allow dogs!!

What a nice spot to spend the night and be as close as you can get to Lake Superior in a comfortable bed. Typically we love to camp, but this hotel is so close to the water, I love leaving the screen door ajar to the deck and hear Lake Superior's waves all night. This place is clean, has a great hot tub, a nice wine/beer bar in the evening and a breakfast bar to get you going in the am!

The view from the balcony rooms can't be beat. We fell asleep to the waves rolling in and the sea gulls frolicking. My wife loves the breakfast, especially the egg bake. We both loved the homemade bread choices. The breakfast staff is always willing to ask questions. In easy range of all State Park waterfalls and local shops.

We stay at the Superior Inn twice a year and are never disappointed with our experience. The facility is topnotch, well appointed rooms with comfy beds, lake view from every room, a fantastic breakfast, and a staff you'd like to take home with you.

We stayed here 2 years ago when the hotel was undergoing renovations and stayed again this past weekend and enjoyed our beautiful, spacious rooms with very comfortable beds. All rooms overlook the lake and we loved listening to the waves with our sliding door open. The complementary breakfast is the best I've ever had, not only a large variety but the best tasting as well. The dining area is gorgeous! Make sure you try the cranberry/wild rice bread toasted with butter. Amazing!

The views of North Shore Laje Superior are excellent. The hotel is clean, feiendly employees. My only complaint is that we were put on a 3rd floor with our 2 yr old, and the occupants beneath us kept calling front desk and complaining that our kid was walking too hard (has is this possible and he only weighs 27 lbs) . Front desk called my room twice and asked could we hold the noise down. We DID NOTHING WRONG, and our 2yr old was such a great kid ...he did not cry, fuss. But i guess he walks across floor too hard???

Very clean property with friendly staff members at each turn. We stayed here over Easter weekend for one night and found the entire facility to be very well maintained with nice amenities. Terrific location with our room facing Lake Superior and easy access to the shore. Dave was very helpful and accommodating at checkin!

This is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in in the last several years. When we walked in, Sean saw that my wife has mobility challenges and changed our room to one that is close to the lobby. The room is exceptional. Very nicely decorated. A great walk in shower. Very nice bathroom. The room was very clean. Extremely comfortable bed. The room faced the beach onto Lake Superior. The waves were rolling all night and in the morning. We left the sliding door slightly open. What a great sleep. A great way to wake up. Even on a cloudy morning the view was great. The best complimentary we have had in any hotel--better than many restaurants. We would go out of our way to stay here again.

Nicely decorated, comfortable will all the amenities including a hot breakfast. Every room has a balcony and sliding doors that open to Lake Superior. The hotel offers food and drinks so after a long day of adventure, you can order dinner in your room.

Grand Marais Superior Inn is a great hotel - stayed there while attending a class at the North House Folk School. Loved the friendly helpful staff, the high quality breakfast, the views, and the incorporation of natural materials into the decor - comfy beds too! Close to downtown so you can walk to a bunch of restaurants and shops.

Outstanding . Enjoyed the whirlpool tub , steam shower, room with a view of fantastic Lake Superior . The remodel of the Inn is beautiful . The staff were informative and very welcoming . From the time we enter the front door to the time we left the staff was above great. Enough can not be said about Shaun the afternoon staff at the front desk. He goes above and beyond to help you out and make your stay enjoyable. He is like the best friend you never knew you had or needed until you were at wits end. The room and view were great . But Shaun really turned a bad experience and trip Into a very memorable one. If anybody is looking to stay in Grand Marais the Best Western is definitely worth the stay. Thanks again Shaun.

This was my first hotel stay with my dog. The staff were great - ready with a little treat bag and greeting for my pup. The room was great, spacious, lake-facing balcony and comfortable bed. And, it's always a bonus to have breakfast included.

This is always my first choice for hotels in Grand Marais. The view of Lake Superior can't be beat, the staff is always super friendly and the hotel is always clean, comfortable and a great place to stay. The rooms are very nice and the food in the bistro/lounge is delicious, as is the breakfast food. I am already looking forward to coming back again!

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was a beautiful room and probably the nicest I have seen for the price range, I was impressed. Great location for scenery and it was located next to several dining options.

We ended up booking a room here after another hotel in town cancelled our reservation last minute. Shaun was working when we arrived and he was a godsend! Every aspect of our stay was perfect. Stellar customer service, the hotel itself is stunning, the rooms are great and the view cannot be beat. We were also offered a very affordable rate which was pleasantly surprising. This is our go-to hotel from now on. Thank you for being so awesome and turning a stressful evening into one of peace and happiness!

I cannot think of anything that could be better. The cost was reasonable and the location is fantastic. Remodeled and updated rooms were very comfortable and they include seating so that you can face the lake and see the lovey view or sit on your deck if the weather permits. More than generous morning breakfast got us going each morning and there is even a small bar where you may get a drink whenever you want! Impeccably clean with a very professional staff. I intend to re-book when we return to this area in may!

This is the 3rd time I have stayed at this hotel. Every time I have stayed there I have had an outstanding experience. We received a warm welcome when we arrived, staff was friendly courteous , and efficient, beautiful breakfast area, excellent breakfast, and the hotel is such a lovely place. I highly recommend staying at this hotel!

Very clean, the rooms were spacious with very comfortable beds and a luxurious bathroom with a double massager shower head. Breakfast was above average for a “continental breakfast”. There were hot and fresh options such as egg bake, cheesy hash browns, and big juicy sausages, as well as unexpected items such as muesli, scones, danishes, pancakes. Nice gym area and whirlpool room, only down side was the amount of kids taking over the whirlpool. Overall, an excellent place to stay for the price! Will definitely stay here again.

We were there on a cold snowy February night but the hotel was warm and cozy. The property is located directly on the lake with lake view rooms. However, in February the lake is frozen but still beautiful . Our room appeared to have been recently renovated. The decor was modern with a very comfortable bed, large bathroom vanity and shower . There was a small patio off the room which would have been nice is the summer. We had our dog, so our pet room was located on the ground floor and close to the outside door. The hot tub was very large and in a beautifully designed room. The breakfast buffet was in the large open area near the main lobby. The room was really well decorated and had a large fireplace. The breakfast was well above average for a complimentary breakfast. They had a very good selection of food including a delicious egg dish. Overall, this is a great property and I highly recommend it.

My partner and I had a winter weekend stay in this beautiful town. We travel often and stay in many hotels, but this one was extraordinary. The outside is plain looking, but inside is another story. I believe their rooms were recently updated, ours was beautiful, comfortable and relaxing. Our king bed was very comfortable, as well as the pillows. The room temperature was easy to adjust. The bathroom and shower were gorgeous. I got a peek at the king room with fireplace and it had a jacuzzi tub as well as a window in the shower that looked out at Lake Superior! We had a private balcony that looked out at the lake. There is a large hot tub on the first floor that was a great amenity as well as a very nice, large fitness room. The breakfast was delicious! AND all the staff are very nice and attentive and friendly. I can't praise this hotel enough! We will definitely be back!

We were heading up to a cabin on the Gunflint Trail when 10 minutes out of Grand Marais when our alternator went out on our truck. It was dark and cold. My husband turned around to go back to town to look for a place to park and stay. We made it here just in time as our truck seized in the parking lot next door. We feared there would be no rooms but the front desk manager Shaun was amazingly accommodating. He recommended a service station, booked us a room for 2 nights just in case, and really made a bad day end right. Thank you such great people work here. The rooms were nice and very comfortable. We'll be back.

Could not get a cabin for a weekend snowmobile trip so decided for the first time to stay in the downtown area, called ahead to ensure they had enough snow to ride up to the trail. What a great option, plenty of parking, easy rooms and a quality breakfast, will stay again

The hotel was nice. Awesome view. The breakfast was great. The staff was very helpful. Always greeting you when you come in. I would certainly stay there again and I would highly recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

We stayed at this motel for one night and were extremely satisfied! Check in and check out personnel were very friendly and efficient! The room was very clean and spacious! It was a little warm to our liking and the fan was shut off for the season so we were unable to cool it off. Overall we were extremely satisfied!

Had seen this hotel for years and had never stayed there. We took a chance and booked our stay for the holidays. We really loved the hotel-room was comfortable, breakfast was wonderful and the staff was helpful. Definitely recommend staying here.

We booked a 3 night stay and left after the first night. Room smelled like it was cleaned with harsh chemicals and gave us both a headache. The whirlpool was lukewarm. The staff were friendly and the service was good. However, the overall experience was very disatisfying.

A pleasure to stay with all the amenities you can ask for. Even with cloudy skies the place was warm and comfortable .and kept the winter blues at bay ! Pleasant peoplalways make you feel at home when you are away from home !

Our room was newly refurbished, nicely decorated and very comfortable. The bed was wonderful, I wish I had that shower at home and the view of Lake Superior and Artists Point off the balcony was perfect. The hotel is on the beach and anywhere in downtown Grand Marais is within easy walking distance. The breakfast had a full array of choices from hot to cold and was delicious. Staff was friendly and polite. We will definitely use this hotel again when we visit Grand Marais.

This is a nice hotel. It was clean and attractive. The room functioned well, the bed was comfortable, best shower, The staff prepared a quality breakfast served attractively in a nice setting. Shaun responded superbly to my minor catastrophe. My BW member rate was reasonable and I appreciated receiving it. But this is still a hotel. Your experience will depend on the consideration of other guestst. Yes, several people were laughing and talking loudly in the hallway outside my room very early in the morning when I was still in bed. So the hotel and staff were tremendous but some of the guests could care less about others.

My wife and myself stopped in Grand Marias,after a day of site seeing.We found the Best Western ,Superior ,and were happy with are stay.Very nice room,overlooking Lake Superior.We asked for suggested place to eat.and were happy to visit My Sisters Place.Our Pizza was Excellent .

We stayed at Best Western Plus Superior Inn because it was located between 4 state parks that we wanted to visit and hike. It worked out great! I'm so happy we stayed there! The beds and pillows were so comfortable...I could have laid on the bed and listened to the waves from Lake Superior all day! (The strength of the waves changed during our stay...sometimes we needed the sliding glass door open to hear them...sometimes we didn't.) There were a lot of restaurants within just a few blocks. Our stay was very pleasant! And I loved that they changed up breakfast a little every day. There were always a lot of choices, and I was happy they included plenty of protein and fruit.

If you're going to splurge in Grand Marais this is the place!! Hit it just right - there 10/10/18 just in time to fully enjoy our lakeside room on 3rd floor as we watched the spectacular waves on the GREAT lake roll in! Room gorgeous, beds very comfy, I always bring my pillow from home and I didn't even use it! They have it all, lovely decor, friendly helpful humorous staff (the man in the boot - you know who you are:-) and unbelievable breakfast!! Love to come back especially for a deal!!

Shaun at the front desk was helpful, fun, professional! He served us at the bistro and joked around with my girls. He helped us have a fantastic evening after a long day! The room is great, good sized (2 queen beds), clean. I'm thrilled with the shower, as being the first shower my short kids can use because it's adjustable. There's also a nice sized closet and sitting area. We're really happy we booked here.

We used this hotel as a base for going to classes at the North House Folk School and for exploring the natural wonders of the area. The hotel has pet friendly rooms and we truly appreciated that. All of the other dog owners were responsible and the hotel did not have that pet odor. The location on Lake Superior was wonderful.

Lots of good counterspace in the room and bathroom. A very good shower. a great lake view! The frig worked well. The bed was comfortable ---what more can you ask for . This is the best Best Western that we have ever stayed at--not cheap at $258.45 for one night.

My husband and I went on a mini moon to the North Shore recently. The location was amazing with our room overlooking Lake Superior! Very relaxing location! We stayed in the king suite with jacuzzi and fireplace and it was a very nice room! The bed was very comfortable!

We were looking for a one night stay prior to heading up the Gunflint Trail. Pondered over many choices but, after reading many reviews, finally settled on BW Plus Superior Inn. All I can say is that they knocked it out of the park. Right from when you enter, there is a warm and welcoming feeling. Reception/check in were great! Breakfast was so way above the average motel fare I doubt that my description would do it justice. Right from homemade breads, egg scramble, ham... it was just delicious! Don't miss this, it is well with the price. Bonus, the balcony views are spectacular!!

Just a lovely setting for a 2 night stay! It was so peaceful to sit on our patio with the waves lapping the shore while the sea gulls frolicked in the breeze. Our room was comfortable, clean & cozy! The oversized hot tub was a bonus after a chili day of hiking! 2 nights were not enough, I could of stayed all week! The staff were super kind & helpful and we always appreciate that! We will stay again!

Newly remodeled, pet friendly (only some rooms), lake view. Handy to downtown, free parking, good wi-fi. This is the best Best Western we've ever stayed in. Very small on-site bar with what appears to be frozen/microwaved snacks-- but very close to good restaurants and bars downtown.

We lucked out and got a room last minute. What a wonderful place. Our room was beautiful. It overlooked the lake with a patio to sit and enjoy your coffee. The hot tub was fabulous!! Complementary breakfast and friendly staff.

On the spur of the moment, my wife Amy and I decided to head to Grand Marais for quick get away. Easy to book a room after labor day. The hotel looks new and well maintained. The room was very clean and had a southeast.view of Lake Superior. The bathroom reminded us of being at a spa. We didn't require house keeping, but did interactive with the staff. Everyone was very friendly. The location is ideal, north side of town, close to the main area and right next door to Super America (which was quite convenient). I forgot how Lake Superior reminds me of being at the ocean with the view and sound of the crashing waves. It's just missing the palm trees and sand. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel put quite high buck. Nice location and friendly staff. Air conditioner was not the best. Town of Grand Marias was very nice, Next time I would bring my fishing rod as they were catching lake trout off the jetty.

The room was very nice with a great view. One of the best BW Plus's we've stayed at. We were on vacation and decided to go to Thunder Bay Canada for a day and then head back toward Duluth. We had a couple large bags of apples from a roadside stand, and learned we couldn't take them into Canada. The hotel staff was so nice and agreed to keep them for us until we came back. We really appreciated their help.

We stayed here while visiting the BWCA. The location is superb! We loved the small deck that allowed us to enjoy the water front view. There is also a nice beach in front of the hotel. Staff was fantastic and friendly! The hotel is close to everything in town - walking distance to groceries, liquor store, restaurants, shopping. My husband ate at the hotel and said that the food was much better than most free breakfasts. My daughter and I walked over to World's Best Donuts (they might be right!) and walked along the breakwater one morning. Lovely experience! The rooms are comfortable, nice bedding. The bathroom is designed so that the shower and toilet are closed behind a door while the sink is outside. Great for families all getting ready at once. Noisy though, if someone is trying to sleep in. I'd highly recommend this hotel!

What a great hotel! Wish we knew that we would have such a great lake view earlier so we would've arrived earlier to enjoy more of it. Front desk clerk was fabulous...breakfast was good...room was clean and bed was comfortable.

My husband was taking a wood carving class for 3 days in Grand Marais and we stayed at this best western with our 10 yr old grand daughter. The hotel was very very nice. Our room faced the lake and the view was amazing. Our grand daughter loved the breakfast she thought we were eating like royals. Hotel is just 5 min to town for lot's of wonderful shopping. I give this hotel 5 stars. We will be back

This was a true treat! The room was clean and very comfortable and the robes just right - not like some of the ill-fitting ones that come in other chains. We booked a whirlpool suite and it was grand! Fireplace, balcony overlooking the lake that was comfortable for dining, refrigerator, microwave, double sinks, and a make-up mirror. The best part was the amazing shower! It had an overhead rain-head, tiled bench, and double shower heads on both sides. A bench ran the length and was as elegantly tiled as the rest of the shower. The breakfast was amazing as well. Very fresh scrambled eggs with enough sweet red pepper to give it color and taste. There was also chicken breakfast sausage that was mildly sweet (reminded me of the taste of Kielbasa) with coriander. Locally made wheat bread and wild rice and cranberry bread. The breakfast bar also sported the first self-service pancake maker I have ever seen! Assorted breads, muffins, and locally made scones rounded out the choices, as well as the standard yogurts, granola, fruit and juices. The icing on the bun, though, was finding Lefse! That was a special treat for me! All the staff we encountered were friendly, professional, and gave us the sense that they were there to make us welcome and comfortable.

It had been three years since we were last here and we were quite surprised at the change. They did a whole redo of the lobby, breakfast area, and check in. Added more space, a beautiful floor to ceiling fireplace, and bar/munchies for the evenings. The bathrooms have been redone with lots of stone and glass, new sliding doors leading to the balconies. The staff is still terrific, the location perfect, with the waves of Lake Superior right outside your room, views of Artist's Point, walking distance to everything in Grand Marais.

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the years and never experienced such poor service. The hotel, despite being renovated recently, is run down and the grounds are atrocious...weeds everywhere. The "balcony room" I reserved was less than 1 foot off the ground; the weeds were taller than that. The staff were rude and not helpful. When I informed the front desk that the wifi was not working (each morning of my stay), I was told that it worked on her phone so it was my problem (with 5 other people confirming a similar problem). I was also told by another person that the wired internet was working fine so there was no problem with the WIFI. The breakfast foods were lukewarm and they apparently allow dogs in the eating area, since I had to personally ask a woman with her 2 dogs to leave due to my family's allergies. (The dogs were not trained for medical purposes.) Parking was also scarce. After having several nice stays at this property, I will likely never return.

We've been staying here for years when we're in Grand Marais, and the recent remodeling has made it even better. The rooms are still spacious and comfortable, with a view of Lake Superior. A couple of years ago they enlarged the lobby and built a new two-story breakfast room, adding a small bar in the lobby (which we have yet to try). We love that they kept the rooms as they were, already wonderful, but improved the amenities. We'll continue to return every year.

I chose this hotel because every room is on Lake Superior with a spectacular view. I was pleasantly surprised that my room and the breakfast dining area had been tastefully rennovated. I stayed three nights and will definitely stay here again!

The view of the lake from the room is amazing. The room itself was clean and comfortable. No problem with the wifi. The shower with the two shower heads was a plus. The staff was friendly and helpful. Told us when we checked in that the hotel was booked solid so the parking lot would be rather full and if we had a good spot, we may want to keep it. We did since there are a lot of restaurants and shops within walking distance. The beach is right outside the door and an easy walk to Artists Point. Breakfast in the morning was one of the better ones that I've had at a hotel. Staff replenished the food quickly. No complaints about the hotel - there is even a bar in the lobby.

every room has patio and direct lake views. Decor is wonderful and beds are extrememly comfy. The location is superb! Walkable location to most all in town. We've done extensive traveling and found this location BW to be a step above for comfort, clean and nicest people. Also they have a wonderful breakfast offfering included with room.

This is our second year staying here. We love it. The rooms are very comfortable. We had a gas fireplace and the view of the lake is beautiful. We can hear the water out on the rocks at night time and we loved that. The rooms are clean and well-maintained. The hotel Was recently remodeled and very nice. The breakfast is really good with hot eggs, pancakes and much more. Service was very good. I wish they would put chairs by The lake. Otherwise, our visit was absolutely perfect and will stay there again and again.

Our room was spacious and had a beautiful view. The property is very nice and has a nice hot tub and work out room. We missed having a pool but kept busy out and about sight seeing. Breakfast was good with many things to choose from. Hotel is on the beach of Lake Superior and has a nice rocky beach. Would've been nice to have a few chairs out back to gather with friends or a fire pit. I would stay again and would recommend the property. It was a little high priced once all the taxes were added but it was high tourist season.

This is a lovely motel with balcony's over beautiful Lake Superior. We always stay at this hotel when we travel to Canada for fishing. This motel has a great place to park fishing boats. It is very close to downtown so we can walk to restaurants and stores. It is right on the shore of Lake Superior. It is a clean and comfortable motel and serves a wonderful breakfast

This newly renovated hotel is a great place to stay. The staff were all friendly and courteous. We had a king bed standard room. Everything appeared to be very clean. The bed was comfortable and the room was just what we needed. You've got to love that all rooms have a lake view as well...there's nothing quite like a Lake Superior sunrise. They serve breakfast in the morning; it was great. There were hot and cold dishes, coffee, juices, etc. It was great to be able to fill up on a healthy and hardy breakfast before a day of adventures. And the location of the hotel is great too...we were able to walk to everything in town. Would definitely stay here again.

We booked two rooms for a family trip to Grand Marais. The team was very flexible about room cleaning (how much and when). I appreciated the separate toilet/shower from the sink/mirror which made getting ready with multiple family members easier. The front desk was good to encourage us for their frequent stay program given the length of stay and number of rooms. We had supper at the hotel one night and the food was good and convenient.

Front desk was friendly. Room was clean with the exception that I found a cotton swab on the bathroom floor and a quarter by the bed. The sweetener was removed from our in room coffee condiments bags. That was a little weird. I'm vegan so there wasn't much of an option at the free breakfast. Just fruit. No dairy free options. There's a co-op around the corner so I was purchasing food there and just kept it in my fridge in my room because there are no restaurants with vegan options here unfortunately unless it's a daily special. View from room was nice. You can hear the water and seagulls all day

We just stayed at the Best Western Superior Inn in Grand Marais, MN. They made some excellent enhancements to the hotel including room updates, a great commons room that serves the best continental breakfast I've had at a hotel, a fun bar that serves some great food (available for room service also), and a nice whirlpool and work out room. The staff was excellent. Special shout out to Bob at the front desk and Andre (not sure of spelling... sorry) at the bar. You can walk to anywhere in town. Great views of Lake Superior. Thanks for helping us celebrate our first anniversary. We truly appreciated the champagne and chocolate's. We can't wait to visit again!

Our first stay was in March a few years ago - which was out of season, BUT little warmer!! HAHA!! We stayed this time in June and which it was more for the rate, it was a great stay! The weather for that weekend was 'normal' per staff!! But, we plan to stay again, and again!! The rooms were recently updated and were very nice. The beds are comfortable and great night sleep!! We had the standard king, of course facing the bay, even tho the fog comes in on those rainy days, it's a great walk/view!!

Since my last review the Hotel has ungraded there pet friendly rooms. What we don't like about this is they are all on the first floor. We do not like people being able to see into our room when walking by and the noise from people above you is annoying.

We loved room overlooking lake. All the rooms overlook lake. Full breakfast. Helpful staff. Clean place. Up to date with magnified mirror in bathroom and technology pull-ins on bedside lamps. Our room was large and comfortable.

The Best Western Hotel, Superior Inn, in Grand Marais, MN is an exceptional accommodation on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Quality of the room, service, amenities and breakfast were apparent. My hotel room had a patio window and outdoor seating facing a few feet from Lake Superior. An absolutely relaxing experience hearing the rolling surf and seeing the morning sunrise. Bravo.

We are somewhat biased as we have enjoyed the Lodge on the Lake in Detroit Lakes for several years. When we heard that Holland Hospitality was in the last stages of renovations at the Superior Inn Grand Marais we had to return, we were not disappointed. We could go on about the knowledgeable staff, amazing view from our balcony, the peacefulness of Lake Superior or the comfortable layout of our room. Let's start with the basics, the hotel is easily accessed off hwy 61. From the moment you walk into the property you are greeted with a large sitting area with ample couches, chairs and a large fireplace. The lobby is well laid out with an inviting lounge area should you desire a glass of wine or beer. The grounds facing the lake are in the process of being touched up and should be a feature point for the hotel in the coming weeks. The breakfast area is well stocked and replenished with the same type of cuisine Lodge on the Lake provides their guests. The hotel is impeccably clean. If you are a “first timer”to Holland Hospitality properties you will find it second to none. If you are used to their Detroit Lakes properties and have not experienced Grand Marais, you should consider this hotel only if you want a relaxing stay with the same quality they are known for. In closing I'm going to have to express some guilt with having to split time during the year with Detroit Lakes and Grand Marais, Detroit Lakes has always been our “go to”..... keep up the great work HH!

Our May stay at this property was very satisfactory other than the room rate was a bit high for a Monday night in the off season. The recently renovated facility was clean, up-to-date and quiet. All rooms overlooked Lake Superior. The bar in the lobby was a nice touch serving beer & wine. Wine prices were high. Staff was professional and courteous. Breakfast was a fairly typical hot breakfast and was well stocked, although we were there at a slow time with only 4 other guests present. We would prefer no pets as my wife has allergies, but it appeared they were confined to one floor at an additional charge.

Our room was facing Lake Superior and we enjoyed seeing the water and the coastline view, and hearing the crashing waves. The room was very nicely appointed, the linens were very nice, and the breakfast had items not usually seen on Best Western buffets. We would stay again - gladly!

Hands down the best hotel experience last evening at the Best Western in Grand Marais, MN. The inkeeper/bartender/front desk clerk — All in one due to a staffing shortage was THE BEST! What a positive attitude and overwhelming welcoming spirit. Rooms are comefortable and roomy with excellent views of the sunrise on Lake Superior — I'd return in a heartbeat.

A bit tricky to navigate around by car, but what the motel has to offer inside compensates. The room is clean and the shower is great! The bed was super comfortable which made for a very good sleep. Although it was cold out, being able to see the lake was a plus factor.

I love the renovations in the lobby and the new whirlpool tub on the first floor. we had a steam shower Jacuzzi suite on the third floor, overlooking Lake Superior. The room was clean and stunning. it is definitely a wonderful place for a romantic evening. The view was incredible. Front desk reception was pleasant and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious, one of the best we've ever had. We had a hash brown bake, and egg bake, Kielbasa sausage and there was so much more to choose from. this is one of the best hotels we've been to. Worth the money for the experience.

All rooms have a great view of Lake Superior. Rooms and the hotel recently remodeled rooms and hotel inside and outside, so everything was really nice. Breakfast was excellent. Close to area restaurants, shops and the harbor.

We were traveling and decided to stop at the Superior Inn. At once we were greeted by Shaun, who was running the shift. He was like a breath of fresh air. So friendly, kind, polite, professional... He got uus checked in and our room was perfect. He checked with us the next time We were in the lobby to see if there was anything else that he could do it get for us... Excellent Customer Service. We had a fantastic view of Lake Superior, beautifully tiled walk in shower, granite countertops... Comfortable pillows, beds, chairs... A great night's sleep and a delicious breakfast in the morning. A must stay in Grand Marais.

Made a last minute reservation for a solo adventure trip. While the one-night cost of $200+ puts this hotel towards the top of the price range in the area, the views of the lake are worth it if you plan on making an extended stay. I'll be staying here again in 3 months or so.

Great place to stay while in Grand Marais! We enjoyed a room with a view and a wonderful breakfast buffet! Even brought our dog! The whole family enjoyed their stay. Received a warm welcome and hospitality through out our whole stay. We enjoyed being with in walking distance to many places to eat,shop , and listen to live music! Wii return!

Our last experience staying at this hotel several years ago wasn't the best and we said we'd never come back...never say never! The remodel is great! The outside and a lot of the inside, including rooms, lobby and common areas, are beautiful. They even have a small bar area that serves beer and wine and a small appetizer menu. Friendly and accommodating staff. Our room was very spacious with a king bed, sofa, desk and chair, fridge, microwave and coffee maker, walk in shower and the best amenity...the patio doors with a private balcony overlooking Lake Superior. What a view! Within an easy walking distance to downtown too. The complimentary breakfast was very good. Hot items as well as cereals, fruit, yogurt, pastries, juices and several different coffee choices. Great breakfast area. They also have a very nice fitness center and large whirlpool room. The only thing we had an issue with was adjusting the temperature of the room. It was too warm for us...70-72 degrees. It is hot water heat and the directions for the thermostat were a little confusing. We don't sleep well when it's too warm. Otherwise, it was a great stay and we will definitely make this hotel our go to place when visiting Grand Marais.

When I called to request a room I asked for the least expensive, she started with the most expensive and then kept going down in price until I interrupted her. When I understood I'd be snowed in I called back and requested to switch the most expensive room. She told me the steam shower wasn't working so they only had one with a fireplace. I asked if I could just get a discount on the most expensive room and not use the shower and she said no because I wouldn't have any way to bathe. I told her there was a whirlpool so it doesn't matter to me. I explained this twice. She was really confused and then told me she'd ask and move me if she could, but that is really unlikely. When I got to the hotel, they had me in that room with a discount. Told me to use the shower if it worked, but steamer didn't work. They were very pleasant. A snowstorm came that night and I was surprised there wasn't a path shoveled so we didnt have to walk through the drifted snow by the time I left at noon. Not very MN nice. Breakfast was really good. I appreciate a place that serves lefsa for breakfast! At about midnight I think someone in the room above us fell over. It caused our entire room to shake. It was loud and terrifying, but not the hotel's fault.

This is a nice hotel with lake facing rooms. I splurged and got a room with a jacuzzi tub and fire place. It was clean and the staff were courteous. The jacuzzi tub did not work and I was only refunded the difference for one night! Very disappointing. I've stayed here once before and had trouble with the people in the next room up all night. The walls seem to be paper thin!

This place is the real deal. We loved the location on the lake with the serene beachfront, walk ability to everything in town and snowmobile trailer parking and ride out access to the trails. The emphasis on cleanliness and the attention to detail make all the difference here- you can definitely tell they care. Loved the ability to get a beer or a glass of wine in the lobby and as others have mentioned the breakfast room and spa area are really well done. We can't wait to come back!

The remodel is gorgeous! Wish I would have been able to go and enjoy the new large jacuzzi where the pool use to be! We were upgraded to a suite and it was beautiful! I only wish we could have stayed longer!

Overall 5 stars!!! Great place to stay! It is probably one of the best places I've stayed at in a while. Great breakfast and the hot tub is very nice and really roomy. The view of Lake Superior from the room is very nice!

This hotel was very clean, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They offered free breakfast which consisted of oatmeal, breads/bagels, several types of quiche/fritters, yogurts, and beverages. The view of lake superior from this hotel is unparalleled during sun rise.

It was a great place to stay!! The location is perfect for lake and shopping !! Wake-up and just look out your window so even if it's freezing you see the beauty for you warm room!! We were glad to see how pet friendly they were!! The beauty out our sliding door!!

Great place, very comfortable settings and wonderful breakfast. Hot tub is great. This hotel was remodeled over last year so it is such an improvement. The amenities in the room were great. Being able to get a DVD player to watch a movie was great. Just an overall great experience.

Love staying here when ever going to northern MN. Always love looking out at lake superior. The breakfast buffet is always well stocked and the people working there are always in a good mood. Stayed in the king suite for a romantic get away and it was perfect.

we stayed overnight on our way to Gunflint Lake this winter. the room was very comfortable and quite with a great lake front view of Lake Superior. the room was warm and inviting. the hotel offered breakfast and had a small bar for drinks in the evening. it was a short walk to downtown Grand Marais and was located off of the main road. the staff was very friendly and helpful locating a place too eat that night.

good rate for a clean and very comfortable hotel right on Lake Superior, with a snow covered beach. this hotel was located downtown within walking distance to many places to eat or shop for outdoor gear (although we didn't walk due to the temperatures, wind and snow storm!!). we would stay here again.

Excellent accommodations. Friendly staff. The view of Lake Superior was gorgeous even in the winter. Bar just off the grand reception/breakfast room where I was able to imbibe on a favorite brew while watching the Viking beat up on poor ol' Packers..

Impressive views of the lake. Newly remodeled hotel and amenities makes everything so nice and comfortable. Shower in room was nice because of the earth colored tiles. The balconies have a pair of chairs and a small table for your enjoyment. Walking distance to everything in downtown Grand Marais.

Beautiful updated hotel with great staff providing excellent service!! We've been coming here for 21 years and great was the surprise to see all the latest updates. Try the new bistro- the chicken artichoke flatbread was delicious, the wine selection good and they even let us taste some on tap wine prior to purchase. The new whirlpool is great. Their breakfast includes delicious gluten free options. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to make this a wonderful stay. And the views from you room is great!

We really enjoyed our two nights staying at the Best Western in Grand Marais this weekend. The hotel is modern and stylish, the rooms comfortable, the bathrooms and showers are extra nice. We spent time in the lounge area by the fire and the staff were all very friendly and extra accommodating. We've eaten many hotel breakfasts at many different hotels, and this one went above and beyond with fresh and tasty offerings. Our room windows looked out on Lake Superior just a few feet away-- that was spectacular. We also appreciated the room-blackening curtains which kept the light out when we wanted to sleep in. The large whirlpool down the hall was really warm and relaxing. Thanks for a great visit, staff! We will be happy to return.

This is the cleanest, nicest, reasonably priced lodging I have recently had the pleasure to enjoy! We had a corner room with full views of Lake Superior. The hotel has been very tastefully remodeled. The cleanliness was impressive as were the friendly staff and excellent breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return again!

Fantastic place with incredible staff, nice rooms, beautiful beach front. The staff are so helpful, genuine, and I guarantee you'll enjoy Melissa, Sean (or Shawn), and Terri as much as we did! Can't wait to return!

Wonderful room, had the steam shower, hot tub, and fireplace absolute relaxation and that's what we wanted. The exterior of the hotel was recently renovated and it looks much nicer than I remember. The lobby and inside looked updated as well. I love falling asleep to the lake waves coming up onto the shore with the fireplace on.

This is the best experience I have had staying in a hotel. Would go back to the hotel in a heart beat. The view was wonderful I cannot wait to be back to the hotel in the summer. The staff from the day i arrived until the day I left was wonderful

I had a reservation to a different hotel and for reasons out my control I couldn't stay at the other one, so I have to try to find a hotel in Grand Marais and everything was full and or did not take pets, so after calling around someone give me this place number, so i did call and at that point I would of taken pretty much anything so I booked a one night on the phone, when I go to the hotel I was amazed of how nice and clean the place look like, I got a 1st floor room with a amazing view to the lake. I open my room door and I could heard the waives breaking on the beach I was great and the continental breakfast was very good, better than what I thought. Over all a great experience.

We really enjoyed our stay, overall. The hotel was clean, well-staffed, and it made for a great stay. The breakfast was plentiful and good with lots of variety. I appreciated a gluten-free bread option at breakfast. We will be back.

I love the town of Grand Marais. I have been visiting there since I was a kid. The one thing that always frustrates me is the way the franchises like this Bestwestern hotel are run. Unlinke the rest of the businesses which are generally family owned the employees here have their hands tied. Next time I will look to better invest in the hardworking people of Grand Marais.

My go-to hotel when traveling to Grand Marais for business or pleasure. There's nothing better than falling to sleep and waking to the sound of the waves against the shoreline. The rooms are comfortable and spacious - and the hotel has plenty of amenities for business or pleasure travel. The staff is courteous and responsive; the prices are reasonable for the area.

The suite was lovely. We had an amazing view, the lobby bar was convenient and had great food, and the breakfast was delicious! The location was ideal too- close to shops/ restaurants and right on the beach! Can't wait to visit again.

We stay at the Best Western Plus Superior Inn both spring and fall. We return because the accommodations are great and the staff is so friendly and welcoming and anxious to meet our every need. This fall the renovation/expansion of the entry, breakfast and lounge area was complete which added so much. The breakfast, which was always great, is even greater. There is a bar and bistro and a grand gathering area with fireplace, comfortable seating, computer and wifi accommodations. Coffee, filtered water and fruit are always available. We spend a lot of time in our spacious room with comfortable seating. The beds are great. It's just a wonderful place to spend a few nights whenever possible.

Grand Marais is a special small town, voted Coolest Small Town in America and the Best Western Hotel provided a great stay. I was especially impressed by the comfort of the bed and the breakfasts which were plentiful, excellent and varied. A small lobby bar offered a good selection of liquor, wine, and beer. The only drawback was limited parking in front of the hotel though there was ample space in the back.

The Superior Inn has been completely updated. There is an all-new lobby with a bar and a large breakfast area. The rooms are lovely with well-appointed bathrooms, comfy beds, and nice amenities. It is located right on the shore of Lake Superior.

Hotel clean and it just been remodeled. Staff very friendly and they go out of there way to make your stay more enjoyable. There are eating places within walking distance and banking too. There is a gas station right next door if need any last minute stuff.

Great town with a lot to do, hotel room was nice and matched the scenery around it. I will stay here again. The rooms were set up very nice with a great view of lake Superior. The hotel is within walking distances to every major restaurant.

Great Place to Stay. Our room looked just like the pictures online, right on the water so an amazing view and comfortable beds. Liked having a sitting area along with a work area. Lots of outlets for convenience. Great breakfast with lots of choices.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Great view of Lake Superior, kind and helpful staff. Shaun was GREAT!! Location is nice, easy access to town, walking distance to downtown. Breakfast area is very comfortable. Balcony's are kind of small, and when you move the chairs at all it was very loud....but the view....can't beat the view. It is a pet friendly place which we didn't bring a pet and I like the idea, but we were woke up very early by dogs barking both mornings. =(
