"Awesome Hotel! "

11/07/2018

A beautiful new hotel in a PERFECT location! Within walking distance to many of the great things to see in Gettysburg including the cemetery and food places. The entire hotel is nicely decorated and our room still smelled new! The pool was nice and clean as well as the workout room. Breakfast is until 10 which is great and the 12 noon checkout is yet another plus! Would definitely stay here again!

"Great place to stay!"

I usually stay at a Best Western when I travel, nice to see a new Best Western in Gettysburg! Efficient, friendly service, very clean room, full breakfast in a dining area overlooking the battlefield. Great location, right next to the Heritage Center, close to the Dobbin House and the National Cemetery. I highly recommend this hotel.

We are not even done with our summer road trip, and we already miss this hotel. It's been over a week ago, but we would take this hotel with us if we could. Actually, it is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. I have traveled all over the country for work, and this includes higher end hotels in Waikiki. This hotel had the most comfortable bed that either my wife or I ever slept on. Breakfast in the morning is well managed with very courteous staff. I even asked a question from customer service after our stay and they answered promptly and went out of their way to respond. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit to Gettysurg.

Thank you so much! We are so fortunate to have a great staff of employees and I'm thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed your stay with us! See you next time!

"Best Hotel"

This has to be the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in with my family. The staff are all wonderful. The location is amazing. The double queen room we had was large enough to add an inflatable twin mattress. The bathroom had no wasted space with a vanity that ran the full length of the room. Plenty of room to put stuff! The breakfast was great and everything was kept clean and well stocked. The kids loved having a pool to cool off in. Our second floor room was very quiet. We did occasionally hear a door slam, but they are heavy doors and I have to admit my kids are guilty of at least one accidental slam! I would recommend larger trash cans in the rooms and stronger coffee would be great. But I seriously have zero complaints. I have paid double the nightly rate at other vacation spots and have not had such a pleasant experience. I absolutely look forward to staying here again.

"Clean and a great breakfast "

01/07/2018

The hotel is very clean and the staff was very friendly. I had a complaint when I first arrived Thursday the 28th and the manger immediately addressed it. The Lady's that run the breakfast Debbie and Cecelia run that place like a fine tuned machine. They are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is the best I have experienced in a hotel for Continental. They actually use real eggs. My only complaints are the walls are too thin in the rooms and you can here everything and I mean everything everybody is doing in the bathroom. The pool area is nice but it's really for kids not adults. It's 3 1/2 to 4 feet deep. The lactation is also great.

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
Thank you! I'm happy to hear how much you enjoyed your stay with us and our friendly, helpful staff! Our indoor pool is not oversized, but allows even full size adults to get a workout in, if they so choose. See you next time!

"Third floor breakfast room overlooks one of the battlefields! Very nice!"

Wonderful place to stay in Gettysburg! Just celebrated being open a year in May, 2018. Third floor breakfast room overlooks the battlefield! The breakfast room staff was wonderful and very helpful! Rooms were large and very clean and updated. We are going back to Gettysburg soon and I will make my reservations here!

"Visiting Gettysburg national battlefield "

5
22/06/2018

This is the best place to stay for visiting the battlefield. Very close but also just wonderful. Brand new, with features like filtered water bottle filler, tea and coffee available all the time, great and friendly breakfast room, nice pool, and amazing Civil War themed artwork everywhere. Of course very clean. We will be back. Only problem is that once you check into other hotels—as we did since we are on a road trip to visit many battlefields—you keep comparing them to the BW and they all fall short!

"Beautiful new hotel, but with bad bedding and bad customer service"

21/06/2018

This brand new hotel is beautiful and in a great location--right across the street from the battlefield and walking distance from several attractions and restaurants in the area. The price we paid was agreeable, as well. However, they didn't splurge much on the mattresses. They were very hard and uncomfortable. Between my sciatica with which I'm currently dealing and the hard mattress, I only had about 4 hours of sleep. I slept for 2 hours from midnight 'til 2am, and then had to call down to the desk for another blanket because I decided to try sleeping in the chair, which was far more comfortable and had more cushion than the bed itself. After a couple of the male staff employees brought some towels to the room earlier in the evening, the female receptionist was unwilling to bring the blanket to the room. I had re-dress to walk to the lobby (in pain, because of my sciatica), have bright lights in my face at 2 in the morning just to get a blanket. It took me another 2 hours to fall back to sleep because I had been re-stimulated to being awake from the pain of walking and the bright lights in the hallway and lobby. The next morning when I went to check out, the new receptionist for the day asked how my stay was and I complained about the hard mattresses, and how I couldn't get much sleep because they didn't aid with the pain I had in my legs, knees and hips. She mocked my pain by comparing the mattress hardness to other people's complaints about having a "view" in their room. "Is it a view or isn't it?" she sarcastically quipped. I found both of these employees lack of sensitivity to my pain situation tactless. (Mind you, I had even taken both Aspirin and Tylenol and Biofreeze for pain relief at bedtime, and it still didn't help.)

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
Thank you for your stay with us and for the feedback. I'm very sorry to hear of the issues you experienced. We use Serta Perfect Sleeper mattresses in all rooms, but I apologize if it isn't what you are used to at home. We will also address with our clerks better how to handle situations like this. Again, I'm sorry and hope you give us another chance in the future.

"Exceeded Expectations"

5
19/06/2018

I am not a big fan of Best Westerns. They are usually disappointing and older. I tried this one based on the great Trip Advisor reviewers (and the fact that the hotel is relatively new). I was not disappointed. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was friendly. We had a room on the first floor and the room ceilings were very high. It made the room seem really impressive. The room was very spacious and featured a microwave and refrigerator. It would have been nice to have a luggage rack or another bench/piece of furniture to place a bag on the right side of the TV (there was a very large open space there). The bathroom was nice, although the design was a bit awkward. The wide door opened in, so it was covering half of the shower opening and hitting the person using the toilet. It really needed to be closed if someone was in the bathroom. Also, the decorative handle on the fake center panel under the sink protruded about 2 inches and I was constanting hitting it with my leg. The downside to our particular room is that it was right next to the ice machine. That was very loud when people were using it. The pool was nice, but shallow. It was 4 ft. at its deepest point. However, the overall size of the pool was nice. The fitness center is in the pool area, although separated by another door. It was relatively small but seemed okay (we didn't actually use it). Breakfast was fine. It's on the 3rd floor with a view of the Gettysburg Battlefield. There were regular waffles, chocolate chip waffles as well as pancakes from a pancake machine. There were also "egg patties" (like the egg on an Egg McMuffin) and sausage patties, various bread products (no bagels), yogurt and fruit. The location is very handy to everything in downtown Gettysburg. I would definitely stay here again if back in the area.

"Great Location"

4
15/06/2018

I'd really like to give this hotel five stars, but I just can't. It's in a great location so you can walk to a lot of places, it was very clean and comfortable, the room was quite roomy and I liked the layout, the staff were all pleasant, and my room location preference was accommodated without any problems. There are two reasons I can't give this five stars. First, on our second day I ran up to our room to grab something and found that it hadn't been completely cleaned. The garbage was taken from the bathroom but that appeared to be all that was done. The beds weren't made, the toiletries weren't replenished and the garbage at the desk was not removed. I spoke to the front desk and was told housekeeping was gone for the day but my room was down as having been cleaned. After being told what condition the room was in I was told that would be reported to the manager the next day and they would bring up more towels and toiletries, which they did. When we arrived back to our room for the night I noticed the notepad on the desk had writing on it. It was a friendly note from housekeeping that our beds were not made because the fact that I had straightened out the sheets a bit was interpreted to mean I didn't want the beds made, so they were not touched. I went down to show the note to the front desk and was told that housekeeping has to be careful when making the beds because some people don't want them to do so. I explained that I had not made the beds, simply straightened out the sheets a bit so they weren't all in a lump at the end of the bed. I've stayed at a lot of hotels over the years and have never once had any housekeeping staff NOT make my bed because the sheets were straightened out. I expressed my displeasure with the front desk staff. I expected to have heard from the manager at some point or at least had this issue mentioned upon checkout, but there was not one word from the manager to follow up on my complaint. The second reason I can't give five stars is the breakfast. The food itself was ok, the breakfast room location is nice, everything was very clean and the ladies working their are great. The problem is that over the four times we ate breakfast, there were never any variations in what was served. It was the exact same thing every single day down to the exact same type of mini muffins and mini donuts. I've stayed at many hotels offering breakfast, including many Best Westerns. There is always something that gets switched up, even if it's just every other day. Like instead of the pre-made and microwaved egg patty and sausage every single day, they could have biscuits and gravy one day or scrambled eggs and bacon another day. They could have switched out the type of donuts and muffins every other day. They could have added bagels one day. By the fourth morning we were so sick and tired of the same thing we hardly ate anything at all. For that alone I would never stay here again for multiple nights. In summary, very nice and clean hotel rooms, great location, don't straighten your sheets if you want your beds made, don't expect the manger to follow up with you if you express any dissatisfaction, and expect the exact same breakfast every single day. Oh one other thing, another reviewer mentioned there were no USB plugs. There actually are, but they are on the microwave! I've never seen that before and we didn't notice it till the second day.

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
Thanks for your stay with us and for the thorough review! I am sorry that your room wasn't fully straightened up after your first night. We will address this with our housekeeping department so this is addressed and prevented in the future. I also apologize the manager hasn't yet reached out- this is the first we (management) are hearing of the issue. Since there's no way to pull your contact information from this review, please don't hesitate to contact our General Manager, Nathan Mares at [email protected] or 717-334-1188. Our breakfast menu includes waffles, pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, assorted breads and pastries, hot and cold cereal, fresh fruit, coffee, juice and tea. If you are looking for a full restaurant menu, there are several restaurants within walking distance. Hope to see you again the next time you're in the area!

I think this hotel is new, if not, it felt new. Nicely decorated. Our room was very large and had everything we needed. It was right off of the lobby though and we were a bit nervous about the noise. The front desk attendant tried to move us but nothing was available. She assured us that she would ask guests to keep the noise level down as it got later in the evening. And she did, we never heard anything until morning. We had an accessible room with a roll-in shower. The hand shower in the center made it a bit cramped and the curtain does not keep water from pouring onto the bathroom floor(which then makes it very slippery). It almost feels like the shower should be wider because the pull down bench is wider than the actual shower. And there is no place to put the shampoo/conditioner bottles in the shower because the soap dish is tiny. But other than that, everything was great. We loved the location because everything is very walkable. And breakfast was fantastic. I'm pretty sure those fried eggs were the real deal, not frozen or powdered. I wondered why it was on the 3rd floor until I saw the view. Just perfect. And Cecilia is a gem! When we come back for another visit, I will be disappointed if we can't stay here again.

The BW-Gettysburg is one of the newest hotels in the area. It's centrally located, within walking distance to a few eateries as well as tourist spots. It's approx. a 7 min drive to the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor's center - however directly across the street from one of the major battlefields. The hotel is very clean. Staff are helpful & friendly. Hot buffet breakfast daily including make your own waffles & pancakes. WiFi is strong. Beds are very firm (almost too firm). There's 24/7 access to fresh hot coffee/tea in the lobby as well as a water bottle refilling station, esp. good for those doing daily hikes in the park. We stayed 3 nights (Sat - Mon). All nights were peaceful except for the final night, when a busload full of school children arrived. It would have been nice if BW logistically arranged for the school kids to be kept to the lower floors away from the non school trip related patrons.

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
Thank you! We are the newest hotel in Gettysburg (just opening in May 2017) and we're proud to be ranked #1 on TripAdvisor! I apologize for the noise you experienced from the school group- we try to isolate school group rooms but this time of year with the sheer number of groups it's sometimes hard to do. "Policy Review"

15/05/2018

Great location, nice rooms, would recommend to anyone. Just wondering if a certain policy could be reviewed. We were visiting with a group of 30 Junior and Senior High School students. Yes we were loud the first hour we were there and had an issue that was resolved with the noise. 26 hours on a bus created a lot of pent up energy. Sorry to the other guests who had to deal with the noise. Thankfully it was 7:30 at night and not midnight. However, we were told before we even arrived that our rooms would be inspected by the staff the morning of our departure with the primary chaperone. You can imagine how the kids reacted when they were told the motel had to inspect their rooms. Whether the inspection was just to check for items that were left by accident or not, the perception was that they were going to destroy the room or steal. Just wondering if all guests have their rooms inspected before checking out? Seems like a policy that is open to the perception of....

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
Thank you! Our policy is to inspect ALL student group rooms before departure- not specifically for damages, but also for items left behind. We have had students forget shoes, phones, phone chargers, wallets, even entire SUITCASES. This way, a second pair of eyes is going through the rooms ensuring your group does not have to return back to the property for anything forgotten. This policy is well communicated to all groups in advance and we appreciate your understanding. Hope to see you again next year!

My husband and I stayed here for four nights to explore Gettysburg and the surrounding areas. The location is perfect! Close to downtown Gettysburg and the Visitor Center, as well as many restaurants and shops! The hotel's appearance from the moment you arrive is wonderful. The entire hotel was cleaner than most I have stayed at. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great! We cannot say too many good things about this hotel! We would not stay anywhere else when in that area!

The new Best Western on Steinwehr Ave in Gettysburg is absolutely beautiful. The reception area and rooms are exquisitely decorated. The pool and exercise room are very well maintained. The breakfast area is located on the third floor with an excellent view of the battlefield. The two ladies that work in the diniing area are very helpful and extremely pleasant. If you are planning a vacation in Gettysburg, this would be place to stay!

"Convenient, Comfortable Location"

We recently spent two nights at the Best Western Gettysburg Battlefield Hotel. We were so pleased when we entered the gorgeous lobby. It is clean, bright and beautifully decorated. Our room was just as clean and nicely decorated. The beds and pillows were more comfortable than my own! The breakfast room is superb! They have quite an array of food for a complimentary breakfast. I have made waffles at hotel breakfasts before, but never had the option of different flavored waffles. In addition to regular waffles each day, we were offered blueberry waffles one day and chocolate chip the next. I have never seen a pancake machine before. A press of the button and 60 seconds later, two tender pancakes drop onto your plate. The fried egg patties and sausage are also delicious. They even have a machine that dispenses water, apple juice, orange juice, and zero calorie strawberry-kiwi flavored water. There were also many other foods to choose from – fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, cereals. You can sit and gaze onto the battlefield as you enjoy this delectable food. We were surprised that we could even buy our Battlefield Tour tickets at the front desk. These tours depart from the Visitor Center, but the desk clerk told us that during the summer, a shuttle will take you from the hotel to the Visitor Center. I am so sorry that we didn't bring our swimsuits. The indoor pool was so inviting. It was so clean and the painted mural on the wall was lovely. We were very jealous of the people taking advantage of this lovely warm area on such a chilly day! The hotel is at such a great location, you can stroll down Steinwehr Avenue to many shops and restaurants. We will definitely stay at the Best Western Gettysburg Hotel again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting this historic area.

Our family was in Gettysburg to celebrate our daughter's senior lacrosse game. We used 9 hotel rooms at the Best Western. They were Extremely accommodating and easy to work with. The front desk staff was helpful and knowledgeable. We made many changes to our room purchases ahead of time as the group increased in size and it worked very well. The hotel is very new, clean and conveniently located. Our family loved that the 3rd floor breakfast room looked out over the battlefields!

My second time at the Best Western. I really enjoy this hotel and its location on the battlefield. You wont get an early arrival check in but that's ok. By 2pm after marching, the room is waiting for you. I always use the back door for loading and unloading and would always want a room on the first floor. Housekeeping does a good job and cleans the room around noon. They left me a nice note for my tip. Water was always hot and the spray on the shower was firm. You can hear noise from other rooms which was disappointing since it was new and there must be technological advances in hotel construction to make it soundproof. I like that it is across the street from the Reliance Mine Saloon and next door to the Gettysburg Heritage Museum and Bookstore. The breakfast was great and I recognized the nice ladies. Plenty of breakfast choices. It opens at 6am. Often I would merely walk downtown or to the Cemetery right from the hotel. The issue is whether to stay here or on York Avenue. That's still a close call. But I like this place a lot. Checkout, even at 4am was a breeze.

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
Thanks for returning back to us and for another great review! We allow early check ins as early as 10am, but it depends if the room was occupied the night before and how early housekeeping can get in to clean the room for the next guest. Hope to see you again soon!

"Great pick for Gettysburg "

07/04/2018

I was happy with the hotel I picked for our Gettysburg trip. The hotel is less than a year old and certainly is decorated more modern and stylish then some of the other Best Westerns we've stayed at. We had a king room and it was great. There are plenty of places to plug in electronics. There are cabinets and some counter space surrounding the microwave and refrigerator so there is room to store snacks, food and beverages. The breakfast area is nice. Let's see if I can remember what all they had...pancakes, Belgian waffles, eggs, sausage patties, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, apples, oranges, English muffins, glazed doughnuts, bread, juice and coffee. My only complaint was that it was hard to sleep in (our bodies were on west coast time) with all the noise you could hear from the hallway. I rolled up a towel and placed it at the base of the door and it helped some.

We recently stayed at the Best Western in Gettysburg for a bus trip with 35 mostly seniors. The hotel was very nicely decorated with more that adequate rooms and common areas. The staff was all wonderful especially Kelly in sales and Pat and Cecelia in the breakfast area. I have never really had the urge to hug the staff in other hotels but I did in this one. When the weather was cold and rainy for our walking night tour, they allowed our guide to come give her speech in the breakfast room. Just great! Thanks to everyone!

I like going to Gettysburg. Best street to be on is Steinwehr Ave. You can stay at hotel, park in spacious parking lot, have a great hotel room, free delicious breakfast on 3rd floor of hotel. (View in breakfast room overlooks Battlefield which is within walking distance.) Also many, many stores like gift shops, historical content, unique items, awesome variety of restaurants (fine dining, family friendly & in between) within close walking distance. Nice walk to the center of town. You do not need your car if you like to walk to the nearby battlefield, stores, shops, dining all within a very close distance. On Steinwehr Ave there is also a trolley taking you to a variety of places. I like a relaxing go with the flow day! Oops, I forgot to tell you about the Best Western's indoor pool and exercise room. Beautiful, awesome, clean & refreshing! Every staff member at the hotel is very friendly. We went on a school vacation, weather not great, but no crowds! Perfect time to go is anytime you can get a room. Sign up for this hotel's e-mail to get unadvertised room deal rates!!!!

This is Gettysburg's newest hotel. Located right next to the battlefield with a terrific view. Steinwehr Avenue is within walking distance to many of the interesting shops in town. The rooms are well appointed and larger than most of the older hotels in Gettysburg. The staff was polite and efficient. The lady in the sky view dining room is their biggest asset. Her warmth and sincerity matched the beautiful view of the battlefield.

New spotlessly clean hotel in superb location. We stayed three nights and on day two we left the car at the hotel and walked the battlefield. Wonderful - we stepped out of the door and were on our way despite the freezing biting cold wind. Hot coffee in the foyer when we got back! I enjoyed the pool; again clean and well stocked with towels. The pool is on the road side of the hotel so you can swim looking across at The High Watermark of the Confederacy. Breakfast is taken on the third floor - you can plan your Battlefield Tour from the window! Our breakfast hostess was Cecilia who was friendly chatty and informative - she knows her history! For dinner, you can walk out to a few restaurants close by - just what you need when you've walked all day! Will definitely return.

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
Thank you very much! You're right- our location is second to none! We overlook the Battlefield, in addition to being located within walking distance to restaurants, shops, museums and historical attractions.

The hotel looks & feels like brand-new. Plenty of sockets to charge electronics, including USB ports. The gym is modern with an elliptical, treadmill, and a bicycle, all seem to be new and in top shape. I got somewhat philosophical with myself, as I looked through the gym's windows, that here I am dripping sweat in a location that probably would have a been a corn/wheat field, if only general Lee wouldn't have made that ill-fated decision to fight a bloody battle here. (And no - I don't sympathize with him, not the Confederates.) The free breakfast was good and included hot items. We stayed during the week with very few guests around so obviously we couldn't hear any noise from adjacent rooms.

Stayed three nights in this new (opened May 2017) Best Western Hotel on Steinwehr avenue. Staff was very helpful, hot breakfast provided along with cereals and fruit. Room rate in Feb was very reasonable. Located across the street from battlefield. Breakfast room is on top floor to provide view of the area. That is a nice touch at this place. First time I have seen that. Other hotels stayed at the breakfast was served just off the lobby. Definitely would stay here again.

Stayed for a rainy weekend in February, but the weather did not detract from the warm welcome here. The front desk were happy to help and made check in fast and smooth. The rooms are large and clean, although a bit darkish in decor. The breakfast was most welcome and supervised by two very sweet ladies who were keen to point out all the options. Had a restful sleep as the black-out curtains actually work. Nice place with friendly staff. If I come back to Gettysburg will stay again. You can walk to everything.

25/02/2018

We stayed for a weekend at this hotel. Staff was warm and welcoming. Rooms very clean. I will say you could hear doors slamming and kids running the hallways - even on the third floor. Not the BW's fault, but would be thoughtful to perhaps have families on the first floor for ease of all guests. They can run and enjoy and us old folk could enjoy the quiet. Not to mention there's a neat pool for all. Saw some families enjoying during our stay. Nice feature since it's cold outside. Overall I would recommend the BW. Great location and friendly staff!!

22/02/2018

We decided to stay here after seeing a Groupon deal for a great price. We just needed a weekend getaway. It was President's Day weekend so I really didn't think it would be available as it is close to a ski resort. When we arrived the woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. It was due to snow that evening so we arrived right at check-in and got settled before heading out for a short time. We arrived back and our boys took advantage of the pool. It was very nice to be able to sit with the big windows and watch the snow falling while they played in the pool. It was very cozy and our boys were happy. We headed up to our room after ordering pizza for delivery and just hung out. We got up earlier than most guests and went up to breakfast. The breakfast room is on the third floor with big windows looking out onto the battlefield. Cecilia and, I apologize, I did not get the other woman's name who were tending to the breakfast were both very friendly and helpful. The breakfast area was well stocked and very clean. Even as people were starting to trickle in, Cecilia was greeting them at the door and explaining the layout of breakfast. This is a great hotel with a great location and we will definitely keep this one on the radar for any return visits to Gettysburg.

"Best western saved our weekend"

5
21/02/2018

My husband planned a lovely ski weekend for us last weekend ( February 16-18, 2018). The only problem was that he booked our hotel room at Eisenhower hotel and Conference center, this hotel is disgusting and should be condemned. Needless to say we ran out of there as soon as we could. Hotels.com put us in touch with the Best western and we spoke to Pam. Pam was very helpful and nice. She was able to get us in the hotel the next morning. When we arrived at the Best western Sarah was ready for us. We were so happy that the communication between Pam and Sarah was great. Sometimes in situations like this the communication gets lost. Sarah was able to check us in early and let us know that we can go to breakfast as well if we like. Sarah and Pam were very empathetic to our situation. That made my husband and I feel like we made a great decision staying at the Best Western. While walking through the hotel we could tell that the custodial staff was awesome because the hotel and our room was immaculate and smelled great. The staff at breakfast( Cecilia and Deb) we amazing as well. They were helpful, nice and cleared our plates from the table with out us asking. When we checked out, Sarah asked how was everything, we let her know that it was great and thanked her for being able to accommodate our last minute change in plans. Sarah replied by saying she was happy that they could make our weekend better since Friday was so hectic for us. My husband and I both smiled and thanked her again. I know this is a long review, but I wanted everyone to understand how Best Western of Gettysburg, VA saved our weekend. We definitely recommended this hotel to everyone we know going to Gettysburg, PA.

My wife and I made a weekend visit to Gettysburg and found the Best Western to be a modern, well maintained and a great value. The King room layout was excellent, with plenty of room to move around and store our items while we were staying at the hotel. Pat and Cecilia were the best host and helper in the breakfast room, that we have ever met, Very friendly and helpful. Would like to have these two lovely ladies work for me, very professional and great "people persons". Also, the location was great too, so close to the Battlefield area and the view of the battlefield from the breakfast room was awesome first thing in the morning.

"Most recent of many trips to G'burg"

4
19/01/2018

We have been to Gettysburg many times as a couple and as a family of four (children ages 5 & 8). This place is convenient to museums, restaurants, shops, and the battlefield. All areas were well maintained and had nice artwork inspired by the battle. The kids enjoyed the pool, but I can imagine it could get crowded during peak tourism time vs January. The breakfast staff member Cecelia was absolutely wonderful. She was personable and very diligent regarding her responsibilities (cleaning, stocking, etc). The food options were good with make your own Belgian waffles (plain and blueberry), various yogurts, cereals, fruits, breads, donuts, eggs, sausage, etc. Beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows-which is a plus. A few items that were not so great... While eating breakfast there was a news channel on that was talking at length about 2 kidnapped teens. I do appreciate the need for news and attention to such matters, but I prefer not to have to explain such terrible and sad things to my younger children in public at breakfast. I wish a more family friendly option would be showing instead. We did try changing seats to try to shield them from seeing/hearing/reading the details, but that didn't work. I don't know if the other guests were just loud or if the hotel makes everything louder (our first floor room had huge ceilings). I felt like those in the room above us were going to jump through the ceiling at times. We were also very close to the pool and could hear those in the pool Saturday night after 9pm yelling, but did not mention anything since we knew the pool would be closing shortly (at 10pm). In the morning, laying in bed I could hear wheels of luggage or maybe housekeeping carts going over tiled floor. It seemed to be constant. With not much area in our room tiled, I wonder if it was coming from the lobby area which was all tiled and close to our room. We would stay here again based solely on location, but ask for a 3rd floor room (not near the breakfast room as I am sure that is quite loud in the morning hours).

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
Thank you! I'm so pleased to hear how much you enjoyed your stay with us! I apologize for the content on the TV during breakfast. Had you asked Cecilia to change the channel she would have happily done so. We usually have the Weather Channel or Today Show on, so it's possible a previous guest had a specific channel request the TV was changed to. See you next time!

"Birthday Weekend"

4
16/01/2018

Stayed here for a long weekend (3 nights) for our daughter's birthday getaway. Being longtime Gettysburg fans and visitors (upwards of 12 visits), we've stayed in many of the hotels in the immediate area, some that are still there, some that have been demolished and some that are new. There are some good and not so good points in staying at this "new" hotel. First the good - it's a very nice new hotel, so new the room still smells "new". Lobby and rooms are very clean and tastefully decorated. Front desk staff is polite. Rooms are extremely clean and the housekeeping staff is wonderful, seem to really care about their job and their guests. The Breakfast Room has a great view and Cecelia who is the breakfast room attendant is by far the best breakfast room attendant that we have ever encountered. She is polite, attentive and a sweetheart AND she keeps the room immaculate. Breakfast items are very good in comparison to other hotel chains that we've stayed where breakfast is included. Now the "not so good" - when making the reservation you are asked to give a credit card to hold your room, which will be charged one night if you do not show up by 4pm the day of check-in. We were checking in on a Friday. I called the Tuesday before, spoke to the manager and asked that our credit card not be charged, we prefer to pay cash for the entire stay and that we probably won't be there at 4pm but shortly after 4pm. Manager said she'd leave a note as to not charge the card and asked that we call on Friday and give her an estimated time as to when we think we would arrive. I called at 3pm from my cell and told her we would be there 5:30pm-6pm at the latest, again asking not to charge the credit card. She said it was no problem, she'd again leave a note since she would not be there. We arrived before 5:30pm and upon check-in found that our card was charged. Not so much a big deal, but I did call twice and asked that it not be charged. The only other issue we had, which was a pretty big issue in our eyes is that the room above us (we were on the second floor - this hotel has 3 floors) had a family that was beyond noisy. They had small children that obviously were uncontrollable. Constant running back and forth, banging doors and sounded like they were jumping off of the beds at all hours of the day and night for 3 days straight. My husband went to the front desk 3 times, twice in one night and then again the next night when we were trying to sleep (he had to go down to the front desk in person since the room phone was not working at all). My husband did inform the front desk that if it didn't stop, he was going to call the police, that's how bad it was. Front desk said they would call up to that room but that seemed to work briefly, if in fact, they did call. The noise would just start up all over again. A friendly suggestion for the hotel staff would be to have families with small children stay in rooms on the first floor as to not bother the other guests below them that do not have small children that can't be controlled. By no means was the hotel completely occupied or even half occupied so there were plenty of rooms for families on the first floor. Lastly, the hotel has a fireplace in the lobby which was not on at all they entire 4 days we were there. It was a very cold weekend (negative wind chill temperatures) and having the fireplace lit in the lobby would've added to guests being able to sit and enjoy the beautiful lobby setting while sitting in front of the fire place. In a nutshell, this is a very nice hotel, with an equally nice staff however we would be hard pressed to say that we would stay here again.

Thank you! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed our new, modern rooms, complimentary breakfast buffet and helpful staff! Again, we do apologize for the miscommunication regarding your card being charged. As soon as the clerk on duty authorized your card, she realized she had made a mistake, and versus reversing the charge and possibly tying up the account even further, she gave you the option upon check in to have the charge reversed or to simply leave it on the card. Regarding the noise, I am sorry for the inconvenience. When we are alerted to a noise issue we take action to quiet the other guests down, because we want ALL of our guests to enjoy their stay with us. Short of calling the police, which we are not afraid to do if the situation warrants it, we have little control over how guests act and behave. Families make up a very large percentage of our guests, and the vast majority of our families come and go without complaints from other guests. However, again, I do apologize for the inconvenience.

"Very clean, basic amenities, VERY firm beds"

This hotel, being newly-built in 2017, was very clean and well-maintained. My husband and I were very comfortable in our king bedroom on the first floor. The breakfast was fine but fairly basic. The waffles were quite yummy. Check in and check out were both fast and easy. There was coffee and hot tea available in the lobby. Aspects of the hotel that we did not enjoy: The mattress was incredibly firm. I suppose this could be a pro for some people, but for me, it was not comfortable at all. I woke up with a sore back. My husband likes a firm mattress and even he commented to me in the morning that it was too firm. The walls were not quite as soundproof as I would have liked. I could hear muffled snoring throughout the night as well as some movement on other floors, the ice machine just down the hall a few steps, and road noise. It wasn't anything too disturbing though, and I found that turning on the airconditioning fan helped drown out the other sounds. Overall, this was a great overnight stay. I would consider only staying here extendedly, though, if you enjoy a very firm mattress.

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
Thank you for your stay with us and for the nice review! We use Serta Perfect Sleeper mattresses in all rooms, but I'm sorry if it wasn't as comfortable as you had hoped. Hope to see you the next time you're in Gettysburg!

Excellent property ,located in the heart of Gettysburg. Family run with an excellent staff. If booking a room request the third floor near the breakfast room .the third floor provides a outstanding view of Cemetery ridge and the field of Pickets charge . I was please to find that I was able to open the window. a couple inches. I sleep much sounder if I can have a little fresh air and hear the sounds of the outside . opening a window many not matter to most ,but for me it is the difference in how I enjoy my stay

Very clean and quiet hotel with excellent customer service. Breakfast offered a variety of items. The exercise room and pool were very nice. Great location if you want to visit Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

"Nice New Hotel at a Great Rate"

08/01/2018

Had stayed elsewhere in Gettysburg before, but stayed here based on the reviews and the really reasonable price. Hotel was spotless, comfortable and well appointed, especially given the price. Great location between town and the battlefield, and walkable to a lot (though it was too cold for much walking during our stay). Breakfast was good for a continental style, and the woman running breakfast deserves a raise. So friendly and helpful, plus she kept the room spotless. Will definitely stay again next time I'm in town.

"Remembrance weekend stay "

05/01/2018

We stayed here Remembrance weekend for 3 nights. We are frequent travelers, especially to Gettysburg, we are in Gettysburg twice a year. This was the first time at this hotel. The hotel is new, clean and staff pretty friendly. The breakfast is the usually hotel breakfast, you will be able to find something to get ya out the door and on the battlefield. The breakfast room was nice, had a nice view, but if full was crowded. You can always take food to your room though. The hotel offers hot coffee and tea all day in lobby, that was a nice touch. For the kids I suggest the hotel offer hot chocolate packets . My son would have loved to been able to enjoy a warm drink with us. Our room was good sized, we had a suite. You can walk out the door and be on the battlefield by crossing the street. You actually walk out and are on the far end of town with shops, McDonald's and other restaurants right next door. We found the parking to be a bit difficult, but don't let that stop you from studying here. My husband has psoriatic arthritis and has difficulty walking at times and the handicapped is still a bit away from the doors, main entrance and back. They always were full too. They have electric car parking right at the back door and it appears at least one spot there was not designated electric car and we got that a time or two. The problem was when they were full we found we had to park a great distance (for him) from the door. We would be willing to stay again?.

Enough said. Overall, I was not overly impressed. Breakfast sucker. No lotion in room. Other guests made way too much noise. I had to call front desk and complain at 12:30am. In th morning Desk clerk did come up and resolved the noise.

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
I'm sorry we failed to exceed your expectations. Our complimentary breakfast includes make your own waffles, hot eggs and sausage, hard boiled eggs, hot and cold cereal, assorted breads and pastries, fresh fruit, coffee, juice and tea. If you are looking for more of a restaurant atmosphere there are several restaurants within walking distance that serve breakfast. We do not offer body lotion as a complimentary amenity, but we do have it available for sale in our sundry shop. I apologize for the noise coming from other guests- that is something we as a hotel have very little control over. As soon as we are alerted to an issue like this we promptly take action. We want all of our guests to be able to enjoy their stay with us.

Not a single negative thing to say about my stay. Amazing staff, everything in the room was perfect - plenty of toiletries, pillows, towels, room space, bed was very comfortable. Hotel has water bottle filling station near lobby as well as coffee and tea available around the clock. Very clean hotel. All the staff, even maintenance staff, made us feel welcome. Close to everything in town. And the view from the Sky Breakfast room can't be beat!! I made it a point to enjoy the sunrise each morning from there.

"New, fresh hotel in Gettysburg"

27/12/2017

Great experience at a new, fresh hotel in G-burg. The best Gettysburg has to offer. Give this BW a try. It will not disappoint. I am used to luxury but this BW was a pleasant surprise. Try the ABC brewery next door for great beer and meal. Take walk / hike on battlefield across street.

"No Febreze!"

5
21/12/2017

We over-nighted in Gettysburg on our way to the Army/Navy game in Philly in early December. The rates were remarkable. I cannot remember the last time we stopped at a Best Western. This hotel was a pleasant surprise and a real treat. To begin with, our room was not overwhelmed by a heavy scent of Febreze, which always makes me wonder what hotels are attempting to cover up. Febreze is not a substitute for cleanliness. This hotel is clean, very, very clean! We had a room with a king bed which was extremely comfortable as were the pillows. The hotel provided a wonderful blanket/comforter. It is much lighter than the ones found in some hotels -- the kind that wakes you halfway through the night because you're feeling "well done." The ac/heater allowed for fresh air throughout the night. The world always looks better after a good night's sleep and this hotel proved just that. The town of Gettysburg was decorated for the Christmas holiday and it was lovely -- only a short drive from the hotel. Breakfast is served on the top floor which overlooks part of the battlefield. It was a typical hotel breakfast with a very friendly hostess.

"Great overnight stay"

21/12/2017

Stayed here one night for the Gettysburg parade. Large comfortable clean lobby with a friendly informative staff. Rooms are very clean and a good size. They do serve breakfast but we have our favorite dining spots and chose one of them instead. We were told the hotel opened in the spring of 2017 and it showed. Nice restaurant a block down the street and others within walking distance. Plenty of shop to visit nearby. Because of the festivities paid a little more than we want to but with all said and done it was worth it. Would stay there again .

"Nice new hotel"

"Big, Clean Room....free breakfast with friendly hostess"

12/12/2017

Stayed here for a trip to Gettysburg. The hotel lobby is big and clean lined, and the staff was friendly. Room was big and comfortable. Free breakfast on third floor with a view of some of the battlefield. Very friendly hostess. Kept up with cleanliness and even took our finished plates. I would recommend this hotel if staying in Gettysburg. It's walkable too! Right in town, close to shops and restaurants.

Nice modern hotel, friendly staff and very good breakfast! The hotel is located in a quiet area, next to the battlefields. Walking to the old town is about 20 minutes. Unfortunately, there was no place to have a drink after 9'oclock on a sunday evening. Of course, the hotel is not to blame. We will be back!

"Granddaughters first "

24/11/2017

Every year we try to send our granddaughters on a Birthday vacation in November. This year it was to the new BestWestern in Gettysburg. The girls were super excited staying so close to the battlefields. They had a view from there room. Very close to restaurants and many museums. Making it easy to venture out without a car. FREE breakfast with a 3rd floor view of the battlefields while you eat. Also many events planed right in the hotel. The girls had a wonderful time really enjoyed their stay. And so did their parents.

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
Thanks! Our prime location overlooking the Battlefield and within walking distance to shopping, museums, historical attractions and over a dozen restaurants make us the ideal choice!

23/11/2017

This hotel is beautiful. The blue/grey theme of the carpeting and rooms is very relaxing and welcoming. The desk and cleaning staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was nicely served and included pumpkin spice waffles (for the holiday season). Our stay was very pleasant and we would highly recommend this hotel when staying in Gettysburg. I am sure we will stay here again.

"Best is exactly what this place is."

23/11/2017

This place is great. From the design, the cleanliness, location, rooms, breakfast, personnel. and a really wonderful experience. Personnel at the front desk and breakfast area were all polite. The location for the breakfast on the 3ed floor is a great idea and would be nice if used in other hotels. I enjoyed my stay here now 3 times and will use this hotel in future travel.

"Way Overrated!! "

20/11/2017

I booked this hotel based on reviews. I had two reservations. Not realizing that the first reservation stood until the day before. I did the Book Now at a much higher rate. The second night I was charged $115 this was for a weekday. The hotel knew I had two reservations and called me about it. The front desk was rude and tried to make excuses for the higher rate. . The breakfast was the worst breakfast I've had at a hotel. I only eat a bagel for breakfast and they said they don't ever have them. They had a fried egg and sausage both days. I expected much better. The shower was small with a small bathtub. For being a new hotel; I felt like I stayed at a budget inn. Also, the beds were very hard. Next time we come to Gettysburg we will stay at our trusted chain hotel who never disappoints.

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
I'm sorry, but you did not have two reservations. Although you claimed you made two different reservations, at different rates, you were unable to provide us with a copy of the second email confirmation you supposedly received. Had you been able to do so, we would have had no problem adjusting your rate. You neglected to mention how you yelled at several of our employees regarding this. Lastly, you acknowledged the rates at check in when you signed the registration card. Yes, we serve fried eggs and sausage daily, in addition to the rest of our menu which includes make your own waffles, assorted breads and pastries, hard boiled eggs, hot and cold cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, juice and tea. If you are looking for more of a restaurant menu, there are several restaurants within walking distance that serve breakfast. Our mattresses are Serta Perfect Sleepers, but I'm sorry if they aren't what you are used to at home.

"Decent new affordable hotel. Convenient location in Gettysburg"

4
15/11/2017

It is a decent new hotel. Very convenient location. Just next door to two major museums and 5 minutes drive to the historic downtown and to the Military National park. Very clean hotel and very friendly personnel. Breakfast was good with nice staff there. There is an indoor pool but adults should not expect to swim there because its depth is just for kids. The entire pool area disappointed us: the pool is very shallow, no hot tub there and even towels are very small.

This hotel is in a great location, there are great places to eat and they are within walking distance. Also next door to a brewery. The hotel is a great location for seeing Gettysburg. The breakfast was very good. Parking is free.

"The Open House"

15/11/2017

The open house was nice. I met the family who owns the property and they were very nice. The rooms were clean and so was the lobby. The entertainment was pretty good. I enjoyed Billy and his wife. They were funny and entertaining. I also enjoyed Joe with his ghost stories. Joe had some good stories and everyone in my group enjoyed his stories very much.

"New hotel, great view of battlefield."

5
15/11/2017

I visit Gettysburg four times a year or so. I've stayed in multiple hotels. This is a brand new hotel located next to the Lincoln Train building a stone's throw from the field of Pickett's Charge. The good: Problem free check in and check out. Excellent free breakfast on the third floor overlooking Pickett's Charge with a nice view of sunrise. GREAT location with easy access to the second/third day battlefields. Easy walking distance to multiple options for food and gift shops. You can walk to the battlefield/national cemetery if you like. Plenty of parking in the back of the hotel. Property is brand new, well lit, and well kept. Rooms are fairly large. Fridge and microwave. Bed wasn't the best I've slept in, but it was very good. Staff was friendly, especially the women working the breakfast area. Breakfast is fairly extensive -- waffles, eggs, muffins, hot/cold cereal, juices, sausage (but alas no bacon). Big TV selection; they have Direct TV. Nice selection of drinks and snacks for sale in lobby. They have the place/rooms decorated with Gettysburg paintings. Multiple entrances and you can park very close to the door. (A big difference compared to hotels like the Wyndham in Gettysburg.) One thing I REALLY liked: They have a place to fill up a water bottle (on first floor near the lobby at the drinking fountains). So bring along your water bottle. The (not so) bad. Fitness center is tiny (one treadmill) and only open 6-10; I ended up running outside in the dark because I planned to leave before 7 AM. Still, there's a quiet residential area behind the hotel, or, if the sun is up, you can easily run on the battlefield. Also, the fitness center faces the street and morning sun comes through the windows; it can get hot in there. I was on the first floor, and if you leave your blinds/curtains open, people can see right into your room. The free internet worked, but it was a little on the slow side. The sound proofing isn't great; I could hear people walking overhead a lot or talking in the hallway. The ugly. There was no ugly. I liked this hotel a lot and would stay here again.

"Nice new hotel"

Room was large and clean - bed comfortable. In walking distance to shops and restaurants. Employees very helpful. The only drawback they needed more luggage racks - only had two for entire hotel. Highly recommend this hotel to stay.

"Excellent Choice - Comfort, Friendly Staff, Prime Location"

5
08/11/2017

We stayed for a couple days while touring the area. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel is pretty new so everything bright and sparkling. Very clean. Easy parking. Location makes it convenient to visit much of the town on foot. We booked a one-bedroom suite so as to have the living room for family to congregate and have a congenial space for downtime. Room was GREAT but configuration was unusual. It was an accessible suite (we didn't request that but perhaps all the one bedroom suites are). there was a regular queen size bed in living room and then bedroom was a small alcove type room with pocket doors. Bedroom was sufficient but literally just large enough for the bed with room to walk around it. Hadn't seen this configuration before, but I can understand where it could be nice for certain family configurations or if traveling with multiple people, one having mobility needs. However the sitting room portion of the room was an odd layout. The only seating was a couch on the same wall as the TV. (Side by side). So you could only view the TV from the desk chair or the living room bed. I'm used to "suites" with couch, reading chair, desk w desk chair, plus usually a small breakfast table with 2 chairs. So a living room with such limited seating and no view of TV was unexpected. We asked front desk if it were possible to get a reading chair like in my daughter's standard room or even an extra desk chair. Was told they would have to ask the owner but we never heard back. It always annoys me when a facility fails to respond. I can understand if request can't be accommodated, but I do expect the courtesy of an answer. But - as you see- I still gave this hotel 5 stars. It really was lovely. I ended up moving the couch and creating an arrangement more suitable to our needs. And note - I understand this was an accessible room - but we could have DANCED in the open floor space. It was still quite spacious with the couch moved. And to be fair, I expect the room layout was BW chain design, not the local owner's. Breakfast was basically what you'd expect. Nice variety but standard fare. Nothing noteworthy except the two ladies working the breakfast room were delightful-so friendly and helpful. The breakfast room was also lovely with lots of windows. Room came with a small microwave and mini fridge. Due to compartments on inside door, the fridge is pretty shallow. That limits what will fit. But nice to have in room. The building is 3 stories and we like to take the stairs. Really appreciated that the stairwells were as nice as the rest of the hotel. Painted, carpeted - even displayed some local artwork. I find it kind of depressing in places where you step from a nicely decorated lobby to a dreary utilitarian stairwell. But these continued the pleasing decor. My daughter had a standard room. I didn't spend much time there but it was also lovely. Had a very comfortable reading chair. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Gettysburg.

"Can't beat a brand new hotel"

08/11/2017

As the title says, this Best Western is NEW. New being open since late May. And it shows. The place is beautiful and clean. I would definitely recommend this Best Western to anybody. Its the nicest Best Western I've used.My only misgiving is that it isn't pet friendly. I USUALLY travel with a dog.

"Awesome Hotel ! Awesome Location !"

07/11/2017

We take a family trip to the Gettysburg every year and was fortunate to get a room at this new (2017) hotel. This hotel is in a great location. The hotel staff were pleasant , especially the breakfast staff. The cleaning staff did their jobs very well . The only negative comment I will make is I wish there were more suites available . There are only two at this location.

20 Old Timers stayed for the Halloween sight seeing experience in Gettysburg. The hotel was in super location and the staff were wonderful to us. The hotel is quite new and it has great large rooms with every thing up to date. Very nice stay and sometimes we old folks are picky, but everyone was happy with the rooms and service.

A wonderful place (new) to stay in town, with lots of shops, restaurants in easy walking distance and joining the National Park. Excellent breakfast, however more dining space and room would be helpful, especially when a tour group is staying.

Beautiful new hotel in the perfect location practically on the battlefield. The room was spacious with every amenity you could want. I wish the bed was more comfortable but that was the only negative.

"Location, location, location & Courteous Personnel. 6 Stars."

26/10/2017

I just returned from a 2 night visit to Gettysburg. This brand new hotel is located steps away from the Gettysburg Battlefield and National Cemetery. It is within walking distance of the Battlefield Visitors Center, about a 10 minute walk. This hotel is clean and modern, as you would expect of a new building. The free breakfast is much like breakfast in other hotels offering it for "free" but the breakfast room is located on the third floor with a view of the National Cemetery and Battlefield in the distance. The staff in the Breakfast room were extremely courteous and helpful. They went out of the way to greet guest and even made the rounds filling up empty coffee cups. In fact, each staff member at the hotel greeted me with a smile and a hello. I would give this hotel 6 stars if I could.

"Great hotel"

26/10/2017

Best hotel I've been in in a while. Very clean, tastefully decorated. Room large and comfortable. Nice sitting area. Bed was very comfortable. Towels soft and thick. Hotel was obviously built with attention to extras and comfort to travelers. Breakfast was very good. Food was plentiful and hot. Staff in breakfast room was friendly and helpful. Breakfast room is on the third floor and gives you a panoramic view of the battlefield and cemetery. Would recommend this hotel to other's.

We rented 2 rooms here last week and found them to be clean, large, comfortable and freshly decorated. Location was great, next to where our tour took off from the next morning. The staff here were very helpful and friendly, recommending a good place for dinner in walking distance. Would stay here again!

Nice, neat place. Good price, friendly staff. Easy to get to any of the tourist places like Historical Visitors center. BW is located on the edge of the battlefield. Breakfast is on third floor and was all fresh and warm. Good selection.

"CQC - Clean-Quiet-Comfortable!"

Wife and I have visited Gettysburg previously but a while ago. Researching the choices to stay, we decided upon the newest accommodation in the area which was the Best Western. Historically, Best Western hotels are geared toward a more economic-level of accommodation rather than a lot of high-scale, extras. We chose this particular place because it was new. Most all of the other places in town are more historic in nature and although this might be more appealing to the first-time visitor, we opted for comfort and spaciousness, something that the other places might find challenging due to their age. True to it's reasonably affordable weekend cost, ($146.00/night), we found ourselves in a large suite with king bed on the top floor. I always suggest you stay on the top floor on an end of the building for the quietest rooms. The room was spotless, the air conditioner was truly quiet when running and the bed was great. We traveled to Gettysburg this time on serious, genealogical business along with a little fun added in (ghost hunting in the National Park after dark). We did walk the streets to take in the local tourist traps which didn't disappoint as they sold just what we expected (the usual t-shirts, plastic toys, bumper stickers, etc.). Right next to the hotel is a Friendly Ice Cream restaurant. We ate several meals there and recommend it without reservation. Within walking distance are also McDonald's, a couple pizza places and the General Pickett's Buffet a couple blocks down from there. Gen. Pickett's is an all-you-can-eat buffet. Food there is typical buffet restaurant, nothing extraordinary. The Best Western has a free, morning breakfast buffet if you're able to make it there before 10:00am. Wife and I are "night owls" and never got there so I can't evaluate it. However, in speaking with the hotel staff, I was made to understand that it was essentially typical to what you might find elsewhere in other hotels offering a morning buffet. The hotel room had a good bathroom, meaning it was clean, contained the usual mini-soap and shampoo samples, electric hair dryer, and plenty of towels of various sizes. Curtains were made of heavy, "light-restricting" material that overlapped when drawn closed (good for late sleepers). The TV (television) was a "low-end" RCA, 720p resolution connected to the Direct TV network. Channel choices were basic, mostly off-beat networks but they did have a couple of the major news networks and weather channels. If you're a computer "geek," don't waste your time trying to connect your own laptop to the TV as the HDMI ports are electronically locked and the TV is a very basic, minimalist unit with really poor sound quality. The hotel offers free Internet service. The "password" is printed on your room key card envelope to access their network. Once you figure out how to connect to the system, the network speed is adequate for average use, i.e. checking email, scanning web sites, but no "heavy duty" activity like online gaming. I point this out for the benefit of dedicated "propeller-heads." :) Most of your time will probably be spent outside the hotel, visiting the Park and the tourist shops in town. The hotel room is perfect for what you might expect for a mid-priced place which is what the Best Western hotel was designed for; a place to crash, get a decent night's sleep, and to be able to be presentable the next morning when you sober up. The best eating and "atmosphere" restaurant for ADULTS is just up the street toward the center of town called Dobbins Inn. Excellent food, a bit more pricey, but their famous "Rum-Bellies," mixed, rum drinks are super. They only permit two drinks per customer as their staff refuses to carry or transport anyone back to their hotel accommodations who succumb to the potent elixir. All-in-all, the Best Western hotel, presently, is a decent choice for a weekend stay. If you drag a tribe of children along, and you absolutely feel that must take them into the hotel room with you rather than locking them in the trunk of your car overnight, feed them their ration of raw meat and threaten their lives if they do not behave when in the room. I have heard stories regarding local ghosts that have absconded with unruly kids at night never to return! I'm not kidding!

Hotel was centrally located which was our goal. We found the room nice and very clean. Service was adequate but not anything extra. Breakfast was not impressive but sufficient If we visit Gettysburg in the future we may or may not choose this facility again depending on price and what else may be available.

Thanks- I'm pleased you were able to take advantage of our prime location overlooking the Battlefield and within walking distance to museums, historical attractions, shops and over a dozen restaurants. Our complimentary breakfast served in our third floor SkyBreakfast™ room offers fresh waffles, eggs, sausage, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, assorted breads and pastries, hot and cold cereal, fresh fruit, coffee, juice and tea. Hope to see you again!

This is the newest hotel in the area. I have stayed in just about all the hotels in Gettysburg. My son is in the college so I am in town many times a year. I have tried some of the other non chain hotels because they are cheaper. My last experience last May I did not feel safe as a single female in that establishment. I will only stay in the bigger name ( chain) places from now on. Best Western of Gettysburg will go above and beyond to make every one's stay wonderful. My only complaint was they put in the indoor pool and exercise room but no hot tub spa. That would be heaven after a day of walking the battlefield.

Spent a long weekend in Gettysburg and the stay here was exceptional. The staff was incredible to say the least. The rooms were very nice and clean. I didn't eat the breakfast just stopped in for a couple pieces of fruit but it looked nice and definitely well staffed. Location is key here...within walking distance to shops and restaurants (There's very little parking on stienwher st) I would have to say this is my new go to place in Gettysburg

A brand new hotel so everything is new. The staff is wonderful and will go above and beyond to help. Even the breakfast staff is great. My only complaint is that I am short and the shower head was too high for me to reach to change. I was a single female staying there alone and I felt safe.

04/10/2017

Our stay at the Best Western Gettysburg exceeded our expectations. It's extremely clean from the outside to the inside. ALL staff were caring, friendly, and professional. More importantly, they work as a consistently collective team. The location to the Gettysburg National Park is across the street. Restaurants were within walking distance on a flat terrain of smooth sidewalks. Nice pool that doesn't smell overly strong of chlorine. We were traveling with an adult man with a mild Intellectual Disability and he was treated with dignity and respect. Excellent first floor access in a very safe room for individuals who are mobility impaired.

This hotel opened in May of 2017. Great location to walk downtown. Rooms are large and nice, but would prefer if A/C unit wasn't so close to the bed. A great place to stay in one of America's most historic towns. Right on the edge of the battlefield park on one side, on the other side, a short walk to the downtown; shops, restaurants abound. Rooms are well appointed, clean and comfortable. 3rd story breakfast room is a very unique idea, and was very nice. Staff is first rate as well. I will use this facility again.

This is a new hotel in a great location. It is just across the street from the memorial cemetery and a fairly short walk to Cemetery Ridge. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The rooms are well appointed and large. The free breakfast was sufficient and the ladies taking care of it friendly and accommodating. It is also located close to town so you have plenty of choices for food and fun. You can't go wrong here!

Skeptical about switching hotels. Needed a place to stay for WWII weekend. Our hotel we usually stay at was booked. First time in new hotel! Great breakfast, friendly staff, easy check in/out. Beds were fabulous!! We will return!

"Wheelchair Accessible"

20/09/2017

I stayed at this hotel and had reserved a wheelchair accessible room. Many times the bathrooms are listed as accessible but are not set up correctly, i.e. access to shower and ease of reaching the shower wand. This bathroom was set up perfectly. Hotel is new, and it is very clean. Indoor pool and exercise room looked great as well. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again on my next visit to Gettysburg.

18/09/2017

Hotel is new and clean, comfortable beds, breakfast included which was okay but not great. Room was very crowded and coffee if VERY weak, more like colored water. Good location, walking distance to some museums, resturants, and battlefield tours. Could hear loud guests coming into their rooms late at night, talking loud and doors slamming shut.

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
Thank you! I'm happy you were able to take advantage of our prime location overlooking the Gettysburg Battlefield and within walking distance of shops, museums, historical attractions and over a dozen restaurants. Our third floor SkyBreakfast™ room has been very popular with our guests, and although we offer double the amount of seating required for a hotel of our size, I realize it can fill quickly during periods of high occupancy. "Great Stay at a Great Location"

18/09/2017

I visited during WWII Weekend and found this new hotel to be excellent. There is ample parking in the back of the hotel and you can access it by a backdoor. Without that back door, it would be cumbersome. Everyone's enjoyment of the breakfast room was accurate and the ladies there are most welcoming. It starts to get busy, however, around 7am. I tried for an early check in because my timing was off (again) but rooms really aren't ready till 2pm. One word of caution: the room fridges are new and powerful. You shouldn't crank them up to get a can of pop/beer cold quickly because they will freeze over and explode. When my can exploded at 5am, it sounded like a blast and opened the fridge door. I must felt embarrassed to my neighbors that I most likely woke the entire hotel up at 5am. My bottle of wine was also frozen solid. Placing the fridge on #2-3 is ample for your needs. I loved the Heritage Museum next door and access to Steinweir Avenue with all its shops is only a block away. The rooms are quiet and the beds are excellent. Housekeeping comes around noon. I had to leave a day early and was not charged. The overnight clerk was so friendly, even tho she must be an insomniac. Everyone there was friendly and I would definitely stay there again and not use the fridge. Shower spray was good and hard too, but water is governored and does not get real real hot.

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
Thank you! Check in isn't guaranteed until after 3pm, but if your room is ready before that, we are happy to accommodate an early check in. Our housekeepers start work at 8:30am and depending on their workload may service rooms between then and 3pm, but if it works better with your schedule to have your room serviced at a certain time, that can be arranged. See you next time!

We stayed at this hotel 6 days and enjoyed our stay. It was clean, quiet, very good breakfast, bed was good, and great location. "Comfortable rooms, great location"

12/09/2017

Had a nice one night stay while visiting Gettysburg. This hotel is in a nice location, in walking distance of some restaurants and some attractions like the cemetery. Staff was very nice, and room was clean and very comfortable. The walls seem a bit thin... we could hear quite a bit going on in the lobby and rooms nearby, being on the first floor. But at about 9pm it got much quieter so the hotel did a good job of keeping it quiet. Breakfast was ok...not great but it was free and there was a decent selection. My only other negative is on the checkout- the checkout at the desk was perfectly fine and fast... But I was offered express check out, but never found out what that meant. Usually that means you don't have to go to the desk to checkout, but there were no instructions anywhere in the room. Also, I was told I would receive an emailed copy of my bill, which I have yet to receive 24 hours later. And I received a survey, so they have my email address. So while there were some minor glitches, overall it was still a very nice stay and I would go back.

Laura M, Manager at Best Western Gettysburg, responded to this review
Thank you! Our express checkout simply means you are free to leave the keys in the room upon your departure if you don't need a paper receipt. I apologize you never received the electronic copy of your receipt- I have re-emailed it to you, so please let me know at [email protected] if you still haven't received. Sometimes they get stuck in Spam folders. See you next time!

This is a new property - nice condition, close to town (possibly walkable if you care to), pleasant staff. We stayed 2 nights, and would stay again. Breakfast is limited, but typical for this class of hotel, and the waffles have Best Western logos. :)

06/09/2017

Our summer included two stays at the Best Western in Gettysburg. Our first encounter in May was a phone conversation with Rhonda to make reservations. The experience was positive as Rhonda was very helpful and accommodated us through more than one phone conversation as our needs changed. Also spoke with Nate, who was super helpful, no question was to small or insignificant. We made reservations for two separate sets of dates as we were travelling for a bridal shower and then a wedding. Upon arrival in June we were welcomed at the front desk, Nate knew us when we checked in for the first stay. During our time there we had breakfast each morning, welcomed by Deb and Cecilia and felt right at home. They did a fabulous job with set up and attentiveness to the guests needs. We enjoyed seeing them each morning, both in good spirits, pleasant and very accommodating. On our return visit in August we had similar experience with each of these staff members, great to see them again. In addition we met Brenda, a member of the housekeeping staff. She was a big help, always there if we needed anything for the room. What a joy when travelling to feel so at home. The location, free parking, breakfast and cleanliness go a long way. The ability to walk to the battlefield and so many other sites is a plus. We will use and recommend this location to anyone that we know who will be visiting Gettysburg, PA.

"Our new Gettysburg hotel of choice…"

23/08/2017

The Best Western Gettysburg meets all my criteria for a great hotel – it's clean, quiet and comfortable. It's a new property that's conveniently located near a variety of restaurants, shops and attractions. It's only a short walk from the famous Angle, Copse of Trees, High Water Mark, and Gettysburg National Cemetery. The room my wife and I had was very clean and well equipped with a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, flat screen TV, arm chair, desk, and VERY comfortable queen beds. The hotel is nicely decorated with Gettysburg-related pictures. It has a small business centre, a nice sitting area in the front lobby, and a convenient Sundry Shop that sells drinks, snacks and other small items. The free Wi-Fi is excellent. The indoor pool overlooks Steinwehr Avenue. A complimentary breakfast that includes a good variety of hot and cold items is served in a third floor dining room that has a great view of historic Ziegler's Grove. There is ample free parking. My wife and I have been looking forward to the opening of this hotel ever since we heard it was coming a couple of years ago. We visit Gettysburg several times a year and used to stay at the Quality Inn across the street – not so much because we liked it (it's okay, but showing definite signs of age), but because we liked the location. However, now that the Best Western Gettysburg has opened, we have the best of both worlds – a great location AND a fresh, modern hotel. This will be our hotel of choice for now on. It`s highly recommended.

"New hotel close to city center"

22/08/2017

I usually choose a Best Western whe. I travel as I accumulate points. This stay I used those points. I chose this hotel because it was new and in the center of the.city. The rooms were lovely and I love the fact that the halls are well lit. The breakfast room was on the third floor which was a bit unusual but okay. Breakfast was typical although I thought the fried eggs they presented were a bit unsightly.i definitely would stay here again. I am a travel agent and have stayed in many hotels and I find this product line of hotels to be dependable and consistent.

"Central location, comfortable, within walking distance of good restaurants"

22/08/2017

We stayed for two nights visiting Gettysburg National Military Park. Fairly new hotel, very nicely appointed with a grand view overlooking part of the Battlefield from the 3rd floor breakfast room. Many good restaurants& shops within walking distance. If you are booking a bus tour at the Visitor's Center to see the Battlefield, try to book with Kavin as your guide. Outstanding discriptions of the battle and has a good sense of humor too.

very nice Best Western . first time staying here and was very impressed. great location near town , walking distance to all. near battlefield sites very nice room was spacial with nice high ceiling. very nice breakfast room. most breakfast give a view of the parking lot NOT this one , third room give you a view of battlefield. breakfast food average fair. room makes up for it.

"Nice Hotel"

17/08/2017

My son and I stayed 2 nights while visiting Gettysburg. The hotel was very nice, no complaints except the exit of the parking lot-north side. If you have a small car do not use this exit it will bottom out on the sidewalk. Use the exit at the far southern end of the lot. BW blames this on the city, but any civil engineer can see this is an easy fix. get with it BW and City of Gettysburg!

"A hotel that gives competition to bed & breakfast inns"

5
17/08/2017

The fact it was a new hotel, positive reviews, and reasonably priced is what made me decide to stay here. The staff was very friendly and helpful more so than many other hotels I have stayed in. When I discovered our room was next to the pool, I was concerned about alot of foot traffic and noises, but surprisingly the room was very sound proof. The breakfast room did have a nice view, but needed to be much larger to accommodate more people. Both mornings was very busy and difficult to get to the food due to so many people. The ladies that prepared the breakfast were very sweet and helpful when we asked about the area. Overall, the room was very clean, but I did find some need of improvement. The top of the headboard had a thick layer of dust which I was surprised due to how new the place was. There was also someone else's hair found in the shower. I initially considered staying at an inn, but they are so high in price and offered less amenities. I have to have WiFi and a mini refrigerator in my room. I will definitely recommend this place to others as well as stay there myself the next time I am in Gettysburg.

"New hotel and it was great"

16/08/2017

The hotel was just opened in April 2017 and my stay was in August 2107. Everything was new, clean and the staff was helpful. Breakfast was also decent. Loved the coffee. There was nothing bad or negative about this stay. There was also a gym and pool which I did not partake in but they looked good. In a quick wrap up -if I could always get a room like this for the price I paid, traveling would always be enjoyable.

My daughter moved to the Gettysburg area so I have had the opportunity to stay here multiple times and love it! The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and the staff is all very friendly. Location is very nice for walking to several restaurants and tourist locations. I highly recommend this hotel, only wish they were all this nice! Looking forward to my next visit :)

I picked the Best Western in Gettysburg since we always stay at the one in Danville, PA when we go to Knoebels Grove every summer and had stayed at one in Myrtle Beach a few years ago. Great location within walking distance to a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions in downtown Gettysburg. And let's not forget maybe a 5 minute drive to the visitors center at the National Park. At check in the front desk staff was very nice and helpful. I had tried to redeem points from my rewards card for a free night but was unable to which was my mistake as I did not investigate the process properly. The manager was extremely helpful and suggested I call the rewards card to have the points transferred back. The free breakfast on the third floor offered a variety of selections, was quick and convenient, and offered a great view of the park. We had a clean, spacious room with 2 double beds, high ceilings, nice countertop area with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and cabinets. We plan on visiting Gettysburg and staying at this hotel again.

This hotel is brand new. It is very clean, decor is modern and the staff is helpful. There is a breakfast room on the top floor that offers self serve meals which overlooks part of Gettysburg. Location of the hotel couldn't be any closer to Gettysburg. The beds etc are wonderful and the price is the best around. We couldn't believe that we had found such a gem

Best place to stay in Gettysburg. The lady working check in the night we stayed was great. She was on the phone when we came in. We struck up conversation with another couple in lobby as we waited patiently for her. Everything shined. The lobby, the room, the pool. The breakfast room is on third floor with windows overlooking the battlefield. Great view for breakfast. The ladies working the breakfast room were very friendly. Location was perfect. Would definitely recommend this place to any friends going to Gettysburg.

"Can't get closer to the battlefield than this!"

This is a Best Western Plus facility, newly constructed and opened just this year. Rooms are comfy and large enough to stretch out in. Loved that the exercise room and breakfast room are facing the battlefield. Easy walk down Steinwehr Ave. to lots of shops, restaurants and ice cream parlors. Right next door to the Train Museum with ample parking for all. Glad we found you!

Very impressed with this hotel. It is new and located within walking distance of attractions in historic Gettysburg. Friendly staff and the best breakfast I've eaten at a Best Western. We thoroughly enjoyed the convenience of this hotel.

The hotel accommodations were great. The hotel is brand-new. The staff was friendly, the hotel was clean, could not asked for more! The continental breakfast was on the third floor that overlooks the national park across the street. That was a really cool touch!

On a recent trip to visit the Gettysburg National Park we stayed at the Best Western Gettysburg. This is a new hotel in a great location adjacent to the National Park. It is within walking distance of the final battle of Gettysburg. The hotel was extremely well maintained with a very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are spacious and very clean and modern. The third floor breakfast room had a great view of the surrounding area battlefield. The breakfast bar had a good assortment of breakfast items, was kept very well stocked even during a the morning "rush hour". It was within walking distance of a number of other Gettysburg attractions and several restaurants. If your traveling to Gettysburg this a great place to stay.

"Great stay"

27/07/2017

My family and I chose this Best Western for its location to the national cemetery, battlefields, and The Gettysburg Heritage Center. The indoor pool was great for evening swims when the night cooled off. The nearby restaurants and attractions were easy to get to, allowing us to maximize the fun while in town. The fridge and the microwave were set up with a counter and cabinets so we could bring and prepare some meals and snacks. This place was perfect for us.

"Great location in Gettysburg "

27/07/2017

We spent 2 nights in this lovely new hotel in Gettysburg. The room we had (2 queen beds) was comfortable and spacious. The location of the hotel was within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The only drawback was the breakfast area, while providing a nice view, was very cramped and sometimes hard to find a seat. Otherwise everything about our stay was great!

"Nice visit "

27/07/2017

After spending our first night at another hotel due to an unfortunate mix up with our reservation (which I understand was the fault of their corporate office not the hotel directly), we came back and spent 4 nights here. Before reviewing our stay, I want to commend the professionalism and helpfulness of the staff who helped us out with a difficult situation - specifically Angela and Kelly. All of the staff at this hotel were very nice and helpful during our stay. The front desk, cleaning, and breakfast staff were friendly and always had a smile. The room was nice and clean and had enough room for all three of us. One issue we did have was that the WIFI went out alot so if that is something that is important to you, keep that in mind. The location was fantastic (and one of the main reasons I picked it). Right at the battlefields and a few minutes from visitor center. The breakfast buffet is on the 3rd floor in a room that overlooks the battlefields. Great selection of information pamphlets for things to do and see. Overall, a nice stay.

26/07/2017

This is a fairly new Best Western hotel in Gettysburg, Pa which is right across the road from the cemetery. It is in a great location in walking distance of many shops and great places to eat and a short drive to do the Gettysburg tour / Little round top, etc. Also a short drive into town with more great little shops. The lobby is modern and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are modern and new, very clean, beds were comfortable. This is a very nice hotel and you can't beat the location in my opinion, you will not be disappointed !!!! Great stay, I hope to go back again !!

19/07/2017

We stayed here for our anniversary and the vintage base ball festival. The hotel still fairly new but was very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful checking in. The rooms were very comfortable and plenty of room. The only negative is the mini fridge did not have a freezer which was not a deal breaker. Breakfast was sufficient, consisted of eggs, sausage ,muffins breads, waffles, and had a yogurt bar option to add chocolate chips or granola which we thought was a nice touch. Also coffee and juices. The ladies working in the area were great, they always checked on us as well as chatted. The breakfast area is on the 3rd floor which gives a nice aerial view of the area. The hotel is in walking distance of everything downtown. The pool area is nice although we did not get a chance to enjoy it. We will defiantly be back to stay here again!

My first stay in this new hotel and it was fantastic. The staff at the front desk was great. They helped me out with two problems and took their time to help me out. The building is building and brand new. What a pleasure to see that old outdated dump of a motel be torn down and replaced with this. I will be back for sure.

"Beautiful Facility, Comfortable Rooms, Great Location"

12/07/2017

This was my first time in Gettysburg since my high school trip in 2000, so my first time needing to book a hotel myself. I picked a good one! My husband and I stayed in a king room. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the shower is actually tall-people friendly, the breakfast room is on the third floor with a great view of the battlefield, which is across the street (breakfast included hot and cold options), and the location is in walking distance to great places to eat and things to do. The indoor pool is on the first floor, surrounded windows so you have view of the battlefield there as well. We did not have time to use the pool, but it, and the pool area, looked very nice and clean. We would definitely stay there again.

"Would stay again"

12/07/2017

Last year when I read this hotel was due to open in 2017 I told my husband I wanted to stay the next time we visited Gettysburg. So glad I had the opportunity. My children and their families also came at same time and stayed. We all enjoyed our stay. Rooms were roomy, beautifully decorated, very clean, beds very comfortable. Breakfast was very good and the view out of this world. All employees we encountered were helpful and friendly. We plan on staying next year if we visit again.

"Brand new hotel with friendly staff and a great location"

11/07/2017

Stayed in this hotel for the Gettysburg bike week. This is a brand new Best Western. Rooms are nicely decorated. The rooms have a refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, desk and lounge chair. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They do have USB ports where you can charge your cell phones but those ports are located on the microwave and on the side of the phone. (Wish they had the USB ports next to the nightstand.) They have a free basic breakfast buffet with coffee, eggs, sausages, toast, muffins, fresh fruits and much more. Don't expect a gourmet breakfast but it will be sufficient to still your hunger. It can get a little bit crowded in the morning depending when you go. Also free WIFI available in every room and free coffee in the lobby of the hotel. The hotel also has a swimming pool and a small fitness center. Even so the hotel is not located in the center of Gettysburg the location is still great. Walking distance to the battlefields and a stone throw away from the brand new Appalachian Brewing Company where you can get great craft beer and great food. (has a great beer garden too) There is also a Friendly's next door. You can also stroll down the sidewalks past gift shops and restaurants into the Gettysburg circle (about 15 min walk) where you can find even more restaurants, bars and of course history. The Best Western is a great alternative to the other Hotels in Gettysburg. Already booked the stay for next year!

We had an enjoyable experience at the newly built Best Western Hotel in Gettysburg. We reserved two rooms, both were very comfortable and extremely clean. I have always wanted to view the annual battle reenactments, and being a BW Rewards Member, I stayed at this hotel from June 30 2017 to July 2 2017. Very clean rooms with comfortable furniture. My only complaint was that the bed we had was too hard for my comfort.

new facility in excellent condition and location. great staff. excellent views from 3rd story breakfast area. coffee in the lobby means you don't have to go to the breakfast area for a cup to take on your morning walk rate was higher than what we usually pay for this type of room on a holiday weekend, so I am giving it an average grade for value. sleep quality away from home can never be rated as excellent so I rate ii as very good.

22/06/2017

We stayed for 2 nights and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is new so everything smells and looks new. Our room with 2 Queen beds was very spacious. We had a desk and chair, Easy chair with ottoman, the 2 beds and 1 nightstand, dresser with tv and an area with a microwave, mini fridge and cabinets and there was a small closet with a safe. The beds were comfortable. We asked for a quiet area and we never heard any noise while we were on the 2nd floor and half way down the hall. The indoor pool is small but was enough for us to have a cooling dip after a hot day. I wouldn't want to be in there with more than 6 or 8 people though as you can quickly get in each other's space. There is an artist currently painting a mural in the pool area that is absolutely beautiful. My husband utilized the fitness room and he said everything there was really nice. We enjoyed the breakfast and 3rd floor breakfast room is very nice and the ladies HUSTLE in there keeping everything clean and stocked and they are very friendly. Even though the elevator was down during our entire stay the steps were not too bad. I was initially concerned when they told me as I am recovering from a surgery on my leg. I didn't like it that they told us about the elevator after we signed in and I signed the paperwork. No real dings here but 2 suggestions: 1) There are towels in the fitness area but a spray bottle of cleaning solution would be helpful so people can clean their machine off afterwards. Most people who frequent gyms know to do this and would welcome the chance to make sure the equipment is clean either before and after using it or just after. 2) I understand you keep the breakfast area locked because you keep certain foods out and you also use the area for entertainment (magic show, etc). However we walked all over the hotel looking for a nice table and chairs that our family of 4 could use to play a game and/or eat some fast food. We don't like eating in our rooms and there was a rain storm and we had a few hours to kill. We brought a few games with us but couldn't play without a table. We would have enjoyed lounging in the breakfast area. Most hotels have that in the lobby so it's always able to be used. There was 1 tall bar table with high stool type chairs in the lobby but it was right next to the front door and the lobby was pretty small and we would have felt awkward setting up camp there for an hour or so. We would stay here again. Thanks!

"Perfect!"

This is a beautiful, new hotel! It's extremely well kept and it's smells brand new as soon as you enter. The staff was beyond helpful and friendly. The third floor breakfast area is gorgeous and the view is amazing. Breakfast was tasty and was much appreciated before heading out for more historic sight seeing. It's in a nice location...within walking distance to gift shops and attractions. We will definitely stay here again if we are ever in Gettysburg.

19/06/2017

We took at last minute trip up to Gettysburg and were looking for a place to stay. Saw this new Best Western and so we went in a looked around , priced it and were very pleased. The price was good, the place was very clean. It has only been opened about 3 weeks they said. The only had 2 complaints. The first was with housekeeping, a hanger was on the back of the bathroom door. After checking the room and bathroom I believe it was just overlooked. The room was very clean as well as the bathroom. The second was during the night it sounded like a herd of elephants running above us. I did let management know. We would stay here again in a minute. It's right on the main drag so you can walk to a good portion of things. Love Gettysburg.

"Brand New Hotel in Excellent Location in Gettysburg"

15/06/2017

I had the pleasure of staying for 1 night last week in this brand new hotel in Gettysburg. The room I had (king size bed) was large and comfortable, complete with a sofa, microwave, refrigerator, etc. Free continental breakfast is available, although oddly, it's not in the lobby area. You have to go to the third floor of the hotel for that. And for as large as the hotel is, the breakfast room is smaller than in other hotels. One quibble about the room. The bedside lamps are hung too low and are quite dim, making it very difficult to read in bed. The hotel is in a great location on Steinwehr Avenue in Gettysburg. Located very near the battlefield, shops, museums, other restaurants. The front desk staff is very helpful, courteous, and friendly.

"Very Nice Setup"

5
14/06/2017

We were glad this NEW Best Western opened just two weeks before our planned vacation. We were able to get a room there and so we cancelled our reservation at an adjacent hotel. Obviously, a new hotel is just going to feel fresh and clean. But, beyond that we found staff to be helpful and friendly -- not one bad interaction with them. We also really enjoyed the Sky Breakfast Room on the third floor. It is a beautiful view and is a great way to greet your morning. Our room was nice and the bed was actually pretty comfortable for it not being our own!

"Great!"

12/06/2017

This was a nice hotel to stay at for our Gettysburg explore. The rooms were spacious and the fridge/microwave included a counter and cabinets, so it made having an in-room lunch or snack easy. The staff was attentive and kind. The pool is small but comfortable (shallow throughout) but I was disappointed that there was no hot tub. The hotel was right off the battlefield which made access easy. The breakfast room was comfortable with many choices of hot and cold food. The breakfast staff were quite attentive.

This Hotel has everything, including excellent staff. Traveling from England, touring the U.S for the 9th time, stayed in many hotels across the U.S, this one ranks amongst the best. The staff our friendly, helpful and very professional, from the front desk to the housekeepers. Staff can't do enough for you. The rooms are spacious, very modern, indoor pool, excellent breakfast, the staff keep everything clean and hot. ( breakfast room overlooks Battlefield site and has panoramic windows ) Being a new hotel it has not been rated yet but my Husband and I would rate it a four star !! This hotel is not on the highway, so no road noise, very quiet. Located in the Historic downtown district you can get some great walking in to soak up the atmosphere, right across the road from the Battlefield visitor center ,we walked. Mic and fridge in room, loads of free parking. 10\\10.
