Comfortable beds, good wifi, mediocre TV picture quality with 3 or 4 “guides” so hard to find which channel you may be looking for. Huge bathroom counter which is much appreciated. However the shower valve was broken so only a lukewarm shower was possible. When we asked the front desk person to have it repaired, she said it was Saturday so all we could do is change rooms. We had already slept one night and had everything unpacked, so didn't choose that option. But they could fix it tomorrow! Sunday! But not on Saturday???? For the cost of the room, we would expect to be able to have hot showers. I downgraded my rating because of this. No complaints really otherwise. We have stayed at MANY Best Westerns, and this breakfast buffet far exceeded them all. It had something for everyone, healthy choices and variety.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Best Western property. Rooms were very clean and updated. We were happy with our selection of hotel. The breakfast was a wonderful added bonus. Was a great stop on our road trip. Conveniently located near restaurants and shops.
The Best Western Plus on Market Street is always our first choice when we travel to Wilmington, NC. The facilities are excellent and the staff members are courteous and accommodating. It is very clean and quiet, and centrally located. You won't be disappointed!
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Plus Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach. Some of the reviews almost had me second-guessing our choice; but all was well. We were able to check-in several hours early. Though the front desk staff at that time seemed very frazzled, we worked through and got everything settled. Our rooms was clean, as was the lobby area and workout room. The pool deck furniture was nice, but the pool could have been a little cleaner, and it didn't seem like the towels were replenished often. The free breakfast was one of the best I've seen - there were so many offerings, something for everyone! Rosa and the other team members did a wonderful job of making sure that it was stocked and maintained. We had our fur-baby, and had no issues. Would stay again.
I specifically stayed here because they had a accessible room available. The room was on the top floor and the furthest from the elevator. The bed was so high my grandma could not get into the bed. When I asked if they had a stool or anything to assist, they just shook their head and said they only lable them as accessible because they need to have accessible rooms by law.
Cockroaches. Hair in shower and sink. Stained bedding. Pet station not maintained. Room fridge didn't keep food cold
I booked this visit because of an airline flight cancellation. I was exhausted and frustrated over the inconvenience this caused. Staying at the Best Western Plus was such a relief. It was clean and fresh, the beds were very comfortable and the staff were excellent.
Clean, great location, comfortable bed, good workout room and excellent breakfast selections. 👌 Friendly morning staff.
It was really just the cleanliness that got me, previous guest hairs in the shower, their food left in the fridge, and the toilet would not flush
I travel alone with work, I feel very safe at this hotel coming and going, even at night. Good location for me, for it is centrally located for my territory. The staff has always been friendly and helpful.
I waited a bit before doing my review. First off I paid with point and had an outstanding amount due of $280.57. I used a Best Western gift card to pay the balance. The gift card was for $300, they took all $300. Then charged my credit card another $90 for the pet fee. This is the ONLY Best Western that actually charged me a pet fee. I have Platinum status so other hotels have waived the charge. They are only pet friendly on paper only. Dogs are not allowed in the lobby, they cannot use the front door, they are not allowed in the elevator. You have to use a side door to the emergency stairs which is extremely hot, dirty and full of cobwebs. The room I was assigned was on the 3rd floor. They are NOT pet friendly in practice only on paper. The hot breakfast was good. Decent selection of food. They were remodeling while I was there but you never heard the contractors, and it wasn't messy just a few things from the room that got moved to the hallway. However this was the hallway that I was required to use with my pet. The location itself is convenient, however Costco is right next door and if you try to leave you get stuck waiting for someone to let you out of the lot. The hotel is nice, if you arent paying with points, a gift card or have a pet, it's a great hotel. Unfortunately, my experience was terrible and I will never use this particular Best Western again.
Being frequent travelers, we have stayed at several Best Westerns over the years. This surely is our least favorite. So many annoying issues and the list is long. Here is at least a Partial List: The front desk people were often not available; had to stand around and wait if I needed anything. The housekeepers did not speak or understand English. I would have to mime, point, whatever to get a supply. I've never been anywhere before with such a lack of ability to communicate with staff. There were packages of MEAT MEALS left out on the counter, at room temperature, where the snacks were sold! (In the lobby next to the front desk). Apparently their refrigerator next to where the packages were setting was not functioning with an 'Out of Order" sign taped on. But they left these packages out for days! (See the photo). Disgusting. In the bathroom, there was dust all over the tissue box like it was never cleaned. Our bathtub would not drain so we would have to stand in dirty water as we bathed. The bathroom doorknob was broken. The toilet clogged. There was nowhere to put the soap while showering. The soapdish was installed incompetently crooked so the soap would fall into the dirty water in the tub! The bedside rug was "pilled" apparently by housekeeping with their vacuum. (See photo). They clearly need new rugs or at least a new vacuum. The elevator floors were filthy and sticky. I reported this to staff but they never mopped it during our stay. One mattress in the room was defective and had a "dome" shaped lump to sleep on or around it. The key cards to the room didn't work properly. Neither of the two public-use computers functioned in the "business center". Of anything I could possibly say good about this location is, well, the location. It is right next to a bunch of roads and highways that intersect so that you can launch fairly easily in whatever direction you are traveling to get to the downtown, the University, or the beaches. Also, the shower water flow rate was better than some other hotels in general. And the room lighting was more adequate than some other hotels also. That's it. Again, this is a partial list. But that's our stay in a nutshell.
The rooms were immaculate and comfortable. Looks like they were recently remodeled. The staff were polite and responsive to our needs. The complimentary breakfast offered a wide variety of quality food. I particularly liked the pancakes that had great fruit toppings. Will bee back to stay here.
This hotel passed all the things I typically notice. Exterior was in good shape as was the interior and no maintenance issues with the room at all. Bed was comfortable and the room was fairly quiet. One of the big advantages of this place is the location. Very convenient to both Hwy 17 and I-40 and is just a short walk away from Costco and other businesses as well as UNC. The Staff were friendly and the breakfast was above average.
The hotel was in a good location for our trip through the state, right by the highways and near restaurants. The breakfast was good, usual scrambled eggs with a variety of other options, good way to start the day. Staff were great and friendly and the room was clean. Would stay there again if I was in Wilmington.
Excellent front desk staff. Very helpful and friendly. Room was very clean and bed very comfortable. Cafe area was nice and open and breakfast was good. Conveniently located. Definitely would stay here again.
Great hotel plan on staying there again. Very clean, friendly service. Loved coffee was available 24/7. It it centrally located and has plenty of food places in the local area. Highly recommend this place. Our dog enjoyed his stay too.
Stayed here for just one night. The hotel is nice modern and very clean. The breakfast buffet was very good. Well stocked very clean. The shower was modern up-to-date. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.
The room was clean however the air conditioner did not work and there were no other rooms available. We were there in mid August and it was a HOT and miserable night with very little sleep! The night desk clerk tried to fix the air but was unsuccessful.
The hotel was excellent! It was clean and very comfortable. The amenities and location was very good. The staff was helpful and efficient. they have an outdoor pool. They also have a large flat screen TV with many channels
The rooms were great. Definitely a little older, however the beds slept amazing and it was easy to access. We came in for a girls trip to see OTH highlight areas and the hotel accommodated to us nicely.
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was not cleaned well. The towels are very thin, I ended up using my own and purchasing more for the beach. The breakfast was ok when the machines worked.
I experienced three front desk workers in the two days I was there and one was just as nice and helpful as the next! I called at 9am the morning we were to arrive to ask for an early checkin and was told they couldn't guarantee it at that point so I said I'd call later to see if it was possible. The hotel actually called me at noon and said my room was ready! Now that's service! I really felt they all cared about our comfort and that our stay was pleasant. Also, the breakfast was very tasty! I would highly recommend this hotel!
The room was falling apart…carpet ripped from the wall hanging…broken glass in pictures, weird odors, the AC barely worked and left everything in the room damp. We found moths and bugs around. Sheets were very old with little holes. Breakfast did make it not a complete loss though. The breakfast was more then I expected and the only reason I'm not pissed at the price. I would still recommend finding something cheaper closer to the island for the same quality of stay. Reminded me of a super cheap motel. Tiny tiny pool.
We had reservations for a 3 night stay due construction work being done at our home. At check in, we were told that the hotel does not book rooms to Wilmington residents. We have stayed at this hotel before with no issues. We contacted Best Western and they tried booking us at another Wilmington hotel and all the local Best Westerns had the same policy. As Diamond members we were very disappointed and booked our stay with Hilton.
Pos. very friendly staff and welcoming. Neg. 1st room had Ants on furniture. 2ond room didn't have as many but also had them. Also, a spider crawled across my daughters pillow causing a dramatic evening. Would not stay again because of the bugs.
Checked in late evening, staff was helpful and attentive. Overall great stay for the time that we were there. All amenities were available and in working condition, which made getting ready and out the door easy.
We spent a couple of nights at this site. The bed was really comfortable. However, the towels were thin and skimpy, the coffee machine in the lobby was out of order, the one in the room didn't work, and the IHOP next door provided an alternative to the microwave breakfast options. But they have an excellent staff who made every effort to help. Jillian was amazing — patient with whoever was in the lobby, extremely helpful and always pleasant. She is a five star employee.
We had a wonderful visit. Clean, comfy rooms, super comfortable beds, coffee on demand in the lobby, convenient exit to a smoking area for my spouse. This hotel is super close to a lot of restaurants (some you can walk to), close to several beaches. Nice outdoor pool.
This hotel is well centered. The staff is really nice, specially the lady who organize the breakfast (they had a really nice breakfast) but this is unfortunately the only thing good about it. We stayed in room 304. The room was so dirty! There was dog treats on the floor, dead roaches and small little bugs around. The room smelled terribly. I had to open the window completely to take the smell away, and the mosquitos entrerd in the room because the window had no screen. One of the mornings going to breakfast there was a cockroach in the elevator. Disgusting! The hotel towels are a joke, very thin and small. You could not dry your leg on it. The carpet had dog pee stains all over and the curtain did not close leving the street light iluminating the beds.
We had a very good stay here. The room was super clean. The front desk staff was very nice, friendly and never made me feel as though I was a bother. The location was fantastic. I thought we wouldn't like it because it wasn't right on the beach. But it was the perfect location. 10 minutes to the beach and 10 minutes to the historical district. It was really right in the middle of everything.
Clean and adequate room. Hotel desk, breakfast area and sitting area were clean and adequately attended. Typical continental breakfast. Plenty of good coffee. Stayed in a pet friendly double queen room on a family trip. Bed pillow height was excessive and not great for the neck. I would stay here again.
Spent two nights here. Clean, felt very safe and close to all the major roads to where we wanted to go. Breakfast was good and the bed was great and shower pressure good. Super friendly check-in staff and breakfast server was very friendly.
When we got to the room the first thing I noticed was the smell...it was just stale and musty. The carpets were HORRIFYING and stains on every piece of upholstered furniture. I turned the sheets and there were spots of blood...looked fresh like the person who made up the bed's hand was bleeding. Then there were ants on the ac. We requested a new room which was immediately granted to us without questiom and the staff was very apologetic regarding everything. The new room was 100% better. A few old small stains on the comforter but that's not a big deal to me. Smelled very fresh and bathroom still had cleaner in the toilet! Not a hot breakfast, just a few microwave sandwiches and fresh fruit, cereal, etc....but this was also the cheapest place to stay so.... I honestly can not emphasize enough how sweet, friendly, and accommodating the members of staff are! Every person I encountered greeted me with a smile and were all very helpful. Please give them a raise because I KNOW they don't make enough!
The staff was nice and very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was really good with a variety of items to choose from. It took a moment to connect to their internet but other than that, everything was great.
The room was cold as a fridge and the aircondition was not to change in temp. So i had to unplug it. My bed was worn out and i sunk in, the room dint smell good or fresh at all. It was loud next to the elevator. Very poor breakfast without any warm dish, just packed soft cake and awefull coffe. Not worth spending $200 on that room i had.
We had a great stay. The staff throughput the hotel were all kind and courteous. Especially the breakfast hostess. She always made sure we were doing well and had what we needed. Th rooms were well appointed. The only disappointment was that the pool was not open. However that is No fault of the hotel.
Good... cleaning staff and breakfast lady were SUPER nice. Unfortunately, you get what you paid for. The room felt dirty. Carpet had disgusting stains and could use some deep shampooing. There was a bunch of stuff under the bed such as empty water bottles, a pack of baby wipes, napkins....did they vacuum?? Comforter had small stains around it that looked set in. Breakfast was an okay attempt. However, the space is very tight....even if we were not in a pandemic. No room for social distancing. The breakfast is microwavable breakfast sandwiches. There was only one microwave so no ability to have some social distancing. Plates were on a shelf so you had to reach over to get a plate. Internet was unreliable. only 1 out of 3 us were able to connect to the internet.
I took many pics of our room when we checked in, gross is an understatement! A red drink had been spilled on the floor in several places and on the bed skirt, sticky food crumbs were on the remote, hair was in the tub and on the bathroom floor. The carpet in the hallway looked like it was covered in soot. If I were a crime scene investigator this is the case I would want.
The first room that they gave me had a very strong musty smell mold stains all over the carpet. The bed had someone's hair all over it! The second room that we stayed in had stains on the carpet still and cockroaches in the bathroom! While the staff was nice and just seems like they are doing the bare minimum to upkeep the cleanliness.
Wilmington is a beautiful city and not too far from the beaches. A lovely place to visit. There is a lot of history in Wilmington. We just didn't have enough time to explore all we wanted to do. Maybe on the next trip we can.
First, I'll start with the (small) list of positives: The hotel is located in a convenient area within a few minutes of UNCW. The rooms are sound-proofed well as we didn't notice any excessive noise coming from either above, below, or on either side of us, nor from the hallway. Everyone we interacted with at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The mattresses were relatively comfortable (not the best I've had but definitely not the worst either). Now for the negatives: The included breakfast was disappointing. I never have high expectations for hotel breakfasts, but this didn't even meet those low expectations. The pillows….placed in full size pillowcases, mind you….. were the size of small square throw pillows, literally half the size of the cases, and extremely thin, too. Our 2nd floor room was nasty….and I mean NASTY. It was evident when we checked in that these rooms only receive a perfunctory cleaning. Dust, trash, hair….you name it, our room had it. The bathroom sink was in dire need of some Drano! The bathroom fan that was supposed to help ventilate did no good and there was considerable mildew on the ceiling of the bathroom because of it. I don't even want to think about what caused the numerous stains on the carpet in our room, and the carpet in the hallways was no better. And to top all this off…..ROACHES! My daughter was awakened at 1 am one night with one crawling on her pillow. On our last day, we saw another one as well. Bottom line….. this hotel desperately needs a complete remodel from top to bottom, as well as a DEEP clean and pest control. This was our first and last time staying at this hotel.
For a trip to Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach I reserved two rooms for two nights. As a business traveler who regularly travels to visit clients throughout North America; I have come to love staying at Best Western Plus Hotels. Prior to this stay, I have always found them to be worthy of a 3.5 to 4 star rating. And that was why I choose Best Western Plus Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach among all the choices available. Of all of the Best Western Plus Hotels that I have stayed at (often for weeks at a time)... Best Western Plus Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach is only deserving of a 2 to 2.5 star rating.
Stayed 3 nights for spring getaway. Hotel was very clean, plumbing etc. in working order. Overall good breakfast, including microwave breakfast sandwiches, hot & cold cereal, fresh fruit, breakfast bars. Beds very comfortable. Hotel allows pets. We only saw one dog during stay. Hotel very quiet. Convenient location close to Market Street & Costco.
We came in for an Art Opening for 1 night nite stay. The rooms were very clean and quiet. We had breakfast the next morning, the eggs were a bit tough and had a strange after taste but everything else was fine large variety
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We were very pleased with the service that was provided. We were also enrolled in the hotels reward program which would encourage us to use their company in the future.
Hotel was clean and in good condition although not new. The room was clean and comfortable. Internet was adequate, but not very fast. Friendly staff. I'd stay there again. Located near main roads, so expect a little noise. Good breakfast.
A great place to stay. It is very clean and friendly. Also I felt very safe breakfast was wonderful. I highly recommend staying here. They go out of their way to help you. Also very close to shopping. and downtown Wilmington and the beach.
I have stayed here before and I've never been disappointed. I love that it is close to many shopping and dining options. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the room, amount of hand sanitizer stations, and active cleaning by staff. I plan to return again!
Front staff was great, especially Chloe!!!! Bed was very comfortable. Shower was amazing with good pressure and AC was great!!!! We were there for the OTH convention and had a wonderful time!!! Easy access to everything!!!!
Hotel was very clean. The only problem I would say is that you could smell “pot” being smoked even though it was suppose to be a smoke free hotel. The location of the hotel was great. Restaurants were close and shopping was convenient.
We were moving to town and needed a hotel with a pet friendly room. We were so disappointed with the room because it had roaches! And it was dirty. I don't care about the limited housekeeping due to Covid, management has to hear the room (#103) had roaches and was dirty. It was filthy where the fridge & microwave sits, under the dresser had old dog toys and layers of dust and filth. I reported the roaches and was told “well, its a first floor room and with all the pet food…”. Thankfully we were able to check out a day early and get into our home. We left all our belongings out in the sun for hours that was in the room fearing that roaches could have got in, luckily all was okay. I cannot recommend this hotel after two less than pleasant experiences here.
If I could give a zero I would! This hotel was absolutely disgusting. Dirty and FULL of roaches. I addressed the front desk a few hours after check in. The young man did not seem to care at all. All he said was I could move rooms and they didn't have any bug spray. So, I moved rooms. The second room was even worse than the first with visible pieces of food in between the bed and side tables, roaches and dander ON the bed!!!!!!! I tried to get some sleep in the chair as I had a big day the next day but just couldn't sleep for obvious reasons. Around 5AM I was almost in tears having these roaches crawling everywhere. I again went to the front desk. A different lady was working. She was so indifferent and again said I could switch rooms and she “isn't an exterminator” so that's the best she could do!!!!! I was applauded that they had no apologies, sympathy or anything!!!!!!!!! I think that is what made it WORSE, they COULD CARE LESS!!!!!!! I ended up just leaving at 5:30 AM running on no sleep. I canceled my plans and went home. I called the manager, Steve, twice. Neither time was her available. I left my number twice and received no call from Steve. I turned to the customer service department which was terrible. I kept getting transferred to the customer relations department which kept getting disconnected. After multiple calls I finally reached Mike. He gave my a claim number and said he'd be in touch in a few days! It's been a week and nothing. Today I called, again, and they said part of my money was refunded to “hotel planner”. Well that's funny because I booked directly through Best Western!!!!! I called hotel planner three times today and left messages and again, nothing. I can't say enough about how awful this experience was from start to finish. The staff, the manager Steve and Mike and Candace from customer relations all couldn't care less about my horrible experience with their hotel. I travel a lot and I've had issues at other hotels BUT NEVER have I had to spend so much time trying to make it right and gotten absolutely NO help!!!!!!!!!! This hotel to date has $135 of my money and it seems I'll be having to chase down yet more people to get it back. I'm disgusted! I wish I could post pictures of the room and roaches on this review to show everyone how disgusting it was
My family and I really enjoyed staying here. The room was clean, the environment was quiet, the breakfast provided was great and the staff was kind. There was a lady at the front desk named Megan who was really helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We will be happy to stay here again when we're able to!
The staff was very pleasant. The room was clean. I was very comfortable their. I need a night of relaxation and rest. I slept like a baby. There was a pool even though we did not use it. It appeared very clean. I appreciated having a fridge and a microwave.
This is a great hotel if you want to be near the battleship, river walk, beach, and lots of restaurants. They offer a really good breakfast. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had a very comfortable room and enjoyed our stay there.
Bad experience at this hotel. The room was ok..sheets looked like they were not washed. The bath tub didn't drain..took forever ..had to take bath in standing water. The thermostat wasn't working. It was set in Celsius mode and it took forever for the room to cool down. Overall not a good experience. !
only issue was I was on the second floor right over a dog friendly room and the dog was barking at 10p and as a dog parent I am aware of best western rules when staying with a pet and they should've called the owner because the dog would not stop barking. Also be careful with roaches/spiders near or in the toulet bowl because I saw both
The service was fantastic. From being greeted by the maître d to the breakfast person to checkout. Every was fantastically friendly. We will definitely stay at this particular Best Western on our next trip(s) to Wilmington, NC.
This hotel was in an excellent location for access to beach, shopping & food. The staff was very pleasant and the ammenities including breakfast were suffice for us. We might have stayed elsewhere however this BW was pet friendly which we needed and was appreciated although at an additional cost of $100wk. The weekend rate even for a BW member was a little steep for a BW in Wilmington NC of almost $300/night. It seems they are trying with recent renovations so hopefully they will continue to improve on the room conditions which included a few bugs in our bathroom and a musty smell.
Room was clean at check in, other then missing hand towels which when questioned at front desk they gave us more then enough. Breakfast was good, the gentleman who was taking care of everything was very personable and was on top of everything. Also very quite and staff very friendly
The woman at the front desk was super nice and made sure our stay was comfortable. One thing though, our bed had a stain on it BUT the woman at the front desk was super nice and she changed it immediately. I really appreciated that(:
We chose this Best Western for the rate, and location just off 40. It was okay but I had a much better experience at the Riverfront location last year.. Pros: new mattress but had indents already. Location was convenient for access to downtown and nearby beaches. Ihop and two other restaurants, walking distance. Nice outdoor pool. Cons; 3rd floor had horrible smell for 3 of 4 days we were there, burnt rubber? Toilet was way to low and tank loose. Very uncomfortable to use. No housekeeping service due to Covid. Going to desk for towels and toilet paper. Bring your own medicine- No medicine available at Shop in lobby because “homeless people used to come in, take it, and leave out the side door” as quoted by the front desk. That's not a good impression for your guests. Overall, I would be say a quick stay for a night or two would be okay, but not long term.
The Best Western Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach is a good stay in North Carolina. Good value for a clean, efficiently operated property. Pleasant and efficient staff, comfortable room, free grab & go style breakfast. Located convenient to local restaurants and retail. Easy drive to downtown Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach.
Just stayed here with my partner and a good friend for the weekend. We used one of their pet friendly rooms. Honestly, I don't expect a lot from a hotel, but I do expect it to be clean, our room was lacking. The shower curtain is fabric and water got everywhere, the bath towels are a tan color, which is weird and makes me think they don't bleach them. All of that doesn't really matter, what matters is feeling like your room is clean. Under the bed and behind the bed were dirty. The bathroom had dirt/dust in the corners and the film of a bandaid (not ours). We missed breakfast but were grateful for the coffee. I wouldn't stay here again.
This hotel is in need of a complete renovation! Furniture is old, lamps were rusty and dirty. Floor lamp leaned. Drapes falling down and dirty. Found roaches and ants in my room day and night. Bathroom faucet leaked water all over the counter. There was a pile of old mattresses stacked outside by the dumpster. Room was dark and smelled musky. Conveniently located to Costco, IHOP, Cracker Barrel, shopping, restaurants and the beach. The value is not worth the money I paid to stay there for 3 nights! Highly disappointed and don't recommend!
I stayed here for 3 nights over Memorial Day weekend while visiting the Wilmington area and beaches. The room was clean and the hotel was a very convenient location. Minutes from downtown and not too far from beaches. Very central for seeing all the area has to offer. Hotel seems to still be getting over the Covid worker shortage but other than a little bit of a mess in our hallway great stay. Would stay again if ever in the area.
We were so pleased with the accommodations at the Best Western Plus. The whole property was clean and inviting. The room was great and the glass shower doors were a surprise. Front desk staff was welcoming and efficient.
We have stayed here a handful of times over the last 3 years and this hotel and staff do not disappoint. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The room is nicely decorated. And the location is perfect for visiting th.e beaches, shopping and visiting downtown Wilmington, NC.
DISGUSTING! Room was full of dust and there were dog hairs on the armchair. Noisy throughout the night and we had minimal sleep. No remote control provided. Room smelled of cigarettes. Do not reccomend.
Our first, pet-friendly room had two, baby German cockroaches. We also saw dust and a dirty sock under the beds. We were switched to another room with no problem, but it was a handicapped room (which we're not), and on the second floor (not convenient for dogs). It also had huge, dark stains on the carpet and didn't look very clean. An unidentifiable, brown, mucous-like thing was hanging from the toilet rim. The bathroom fixtures were rusty. Blankets were thin. Ceiling tiles were coming up in places. Shower pressure was pretty low. Decor felt outdated. The weirdest thing was a door to nowhere (apparently to a concrete wall) behind the desk. It looked like a locked door to an adjoining room, but wasn't. All I can say for the second room was that we didn't see roaches, but given how prolific German roaches are, I was very worried about it and didn't feel relaxed. I worried my free breakfast was contaminated. Blech. I wanted another shower when I left the hotel. It should not have been $120/might with roaches. I have NEVER seen roaches in any other hotel in my entire life.
General Manager Steven Janoski could not have been more helpful in allowing us to check in early and get a very convenient pet-friendly room as we were traveling with our therapy dog. This hotel is very close to both Wrightsville Beach and the Wilmington Historic District. Also it is within walking distance to an IHOP and Costco.
I visited my daughter who goes to college in the area, the very next day after checkout she realized she left her airpods in the room, they were not helpful and they did not turn up. They were not in her car or dorm so she had to have left them there.
I was hesitant to book at this hotel but the location was ideal and I couldn't have been happier. It has been fully renovated and looks beautiful! The hotel was so clean, the staff was amazing and I felt so welcomed. I would suggest this property to anyone traveling to Wilmington!
When I arrived the guy working the front was lounged up watching TV in the lobby. He had his mask down and I stood there for 5 mins before he made his way to the front desk, grunting the whole time. Then I had tissue paper all in my "clean" bed. How? And lastly my wall thermostat didn't work and was stuck on 66 all night and I couldn't even turn it off. I tried to call the front office but my phone in room didn't work. I was over it. Just wanted to go to bed and get our of there. For the price I paid I expected a little better. Then woken up to police with guns drawn outside my room and the manager says this happens often. People screaming all night long..I had to sleep with headphones in.. Overall a horrible experience and I don't plan on returning.
Paid extra for pet room. Room was nice and clean. Outside areas for dogs and especially around the perimeter of the property needed a good clean-up. A very bad guest had a very big dog. Maybe that explains the rather cool reception when I checked in. Also I was given three different quotes on price. One when I reserved, higher when I checked in, and once again different on my receipt. ???
On the evening of 10/01/20 my friend and I spent the night at the Best Western located at 5345 Market Street, Wilmington North Carolina 28405. Upon our arrival we were greeted in the normal fashion. The next day we went out for the day after showering we left the towels on the bathroom floor as usual to indicate to housekeeping to get us new ones. We came back later that day about five hours later and found that our Bed had not been changed and our towels were still in the place we left them. We inquired from the front desk and was told that you have to stay three or more days to have your room serviced. We were told that that was common practice due to covid #19. I asked where this was stated I was told rudely that it was on their web site. I checked the web site and saw nothing about that anywhere. Our bed was not made our room was not serviced our towels were wet and was told by staff that there were no towels to be gotten anywhere. We paid for full service and got NO SERVICE, No Breakfast in the Morning, No clean sheets, No dry towels Nothing but yet paid full price non the less. The staff was rude and when I asked for there names, they asked my what I wanted them for, they were reluctant to give them to me then bother were rude to me Marcus and Jennifer were on the evening shift. Upon leaving on the 3rd of the Month I was was to say the least beside myself with anger. We paid for hotel service and got nothing in return! Please read this carefully before booking this Hotel ,m its not worth it and the staff were rude. Phil & Edward
The staff very friendly and helpful, room very clean and best opening curtain in am and the river view was great. Rocking chairs all over and close to shops and restaurants. The river walk is right there and if your a runner just perfect.
The main thing was the cleanliness of the room. the floor had not been swept and the bathroom had hairs in it. the staff at the hotel was nice especially the night shift staff he was very kind and friendly..the pool was great and the location was good.
We arrived on July 1st and after a 10 hour trip, we were told that there was an extra $30 a night pet fee. This was not noted in the reservation that they had sent me. I pulled up my email and was told that that was their policy. Also, the girl at the front desk asked how much my dog weighed. Good think he was under 80 pounds or we would not have been able to stay there. I complained again the next day about the pet fee and the man at the desk told me that it was a cheap rate compared to places he has stayed. I told him that for almost $200 a night, I could have stayed closer to the beach. Before we booked our room, we checked out the covid safety policies. They said there would be a grab and go breakfast, but there was only a buffet. While the ladies there were very sweet and helpful, other customers were going out the exit and not everyone had a face mask on. Also, the food was mediocre at best. In addition to not feeling safe at breakfast, to enter the building, you had to swipe your card and open the outside door. But there was no hand sanitizing station once you entered the building, so we had to wait until we got to our room to wash our hands. It grossed me out that we had to use the same handle as all of the other people staying there and had to wait to wash our hands. While we were close to the door, I would have liked to have had hand sanitizer there as soon as we came in. This was not at all worth the money. The room smelled and there was a huge tear in the carpet. It is outdated and our room backed up to the parking lot, which was extremely noisy with other guests blasting their car stereos and sitting in their cars. I know that is not the hotel's fault, but perhaps they could have a security guard patrol the parking lots. I would not stay here again. EVER. Waste of money and beyond disappointing.
Stayed one night at this hotel while visiting Wrightsville Beach. Impressed with their attention making hotel safe during the pandemic. Plexiglass at check-in with 6 foot markings, hand sanitizer readily available at many locations, thoughtful setup for the coffee service and grab-and-go for breakfast. Felt like they were doing everything they could to make your stay safe. I would visit again. Easy drive to the beach. Close to several take-out meal options.
I had a sewer smell in my room and never mentioned it until I left, then the guy was right on it. I should have said something sooner. Cleanest Best Western I have ever been in. Soft Soft Sheets. The cleaning people exceeded my expectations.
Bring your own coffee. Terrible coffee in the room and the lobby, I need good coffee to start my day. The front desk was not friendly. I would like to be greeted with a smile and a "welcome!". The location is great. Close to College Drive and UNCW. The hot breakfast (when available) is good.
Clean, basic accommodations. Easy to get to. Friendly staff. Adequate breakfast - not the most exciting but decent. Had an issue with the plumbing but the night clerk very quickly provided assistance.
Found a cockroach in the refrigerator the morning of checking out, fortunately, we didn't have any good in the refrigerator. There was also a strong odor in the room, even with the AC on didn't help that much.
If I could leave zero stars I would!! Hotel staff is inconsiderate on all levels.. maintenance people using a hammer and power drills at 8am and house keeper in hallway outside our room screaming Spanish on the phone and then just stood there blatantly watching YouTube (or something) when she should be quietly WORKING! Complained to the front desk but the noise persisted and was told quite time ends at 8am which is crazy if you've been traveling/get here late and need to sleep! So glad we only booked one night! I used work at a hotel and that kind of stuff was done after 11am just out of consideration for the people that pay to stay here- no excuses! Inconsiderate and loud hotel!!
Was in Wilmington on vacation so stayed here 1 night -- hotel was fine, room was comfortable, breakfast was good, and staff were very courteous and helpful. Nothing remarkable but nothing bad either. Certainly a good hotel.
Stay there two or three times a year - usually for a week or so - close to everything, clean rooms, pleasant staff, decent breakfast. Just wish the pool stayed open longer in the fall (or gets enclosed during the renovations - )
I really appreciate being able to travel with my two little dogs and the pet policy was accommodating. The rooms are somewhat dated. The only true issue was that the bed was so incredibly uncomfortable.
Me and my son went for spending a weekend together for our passport to purity sessions and the hotel itself was little outdated and breakfast was not that great. Location is somewhat good as its just drivable distances to beaches and other historic locations and shops.
We came in town to visit my brother. This area is beautiful. This motel has a friendly bunch of workers. The breakfast was wonderful. The location was perfect, near family and the beach. People go there the beach is beautiful. The stay was very nice. We will go back again.
I booked this hotel last minute and I specifically always look for hot breakfast and this hotel didn't disappoint, full breakfast bar even had strawberry topping and wet walnuts for the waffles, bacon and eggs. The room smelled nice, great water pressure and the bed was very comfortable. I'm really picky about hotels looking run down and not clean but this hotel was very tidy. I will definitely stay again when we are in the area. Location is great too!
I know every ones experienced are different, but customer service, professionalism and politeness should never be questioned. I stay with BW at least 2 times a week with my job. So as a diamond member on a vacation week end I Do not expect you not to honor my rewards and then then my toilet not to work when I get to my room. I called corporate and they honored every thing but I ended up staying at a neighboring BW because when I questioned them about them not honoring my rewards the lady at the front desk was rude and act like I was bothering her because she wasn't doing the right thing. If I could rate a zero I would
Breakfast is good; room is comfortable; staff is very nice and accommodating. It's location is close to restaurants and shopping and easy to access. A quality place to stay. You have to drive to beach about 30 minutes away but not a problem since we were in town visiting family.
It's our preferred place to stay - after 20 years of trying many, many other places in Wilmington. The location is a little busy with traffic, but it is convenient to everywhere we wanted to visit. We recommend it to all.
This hotel is just average at best, but could and should be better, especially for the price. The place is a bit dated, though the rooms are reasonably spacious. The beds are not the greatest but serviceable. There was no hot water in my bathroom, neither at night nor in the morning, which is a major issue that the front desk just nodded about when I checked out.
1 person on checkin with a line of guests waithin to check in. Very very slow process. A lady on duty at the reception during the night and I asked for a bottle of water for the room and was told that we would would have to forfeit our rewards for this visit for same. We did not want to forfeit rewards, so it was a thirsty night.Usually Best Western ive a welcime pack on arrival.
The cleaning service was horrible- I found a dirty sock wadded up on the bathroom floor, my spilled coffee grounds were still on the counter and floor, someone used the lotion! The TV service goes out a lot, there was often no one at the front desk
Great location with lots of shopping and restaurants. You will be happy with the staff, staff is friendly and helpful. Outside pool only. Great breakfast And they have a coffee/tea bar open 24 hours. Also pet friendly with a extra deposit.
I stayed here for three nights. The hotel was clean and comfortable. I would recommend it to any business traveler. Plenty of restaurants around. I like Jason's Deli so I ate there at least once a day. There is a nice breakfast and a pool if you have time.
The Best Western on Market street is a nice 4 story hotel, with an outdoor pool, provides a good breakfast in an attractive lobby location and has a great location minutes from Wrightsville Beach and downtown Wilmington. Would definitely stay here again.
We stayed here for two nights during the Hurricane Dorian evacuation and could not have been happier. Jennifer at the front desk was masterful at coordinating everyone's arrivals, special requests, cartloads of luggage and water and snacks, etc. Our room was clean and the in-room microwave and fridge were very useful for pulling together lunch and dinner when neighboring restaurants were closed due to the weather. Hotel staff were on-site so there were always people to offer help or answer questions, and their attitudes were wonderfully positive. The breakfast room staff did a great job keeping the area tidy and well-stocked, despite the extra use it got all day long. And the all-day coffee and tea were great!
Checked in for two days . Left room at about 1030 am with privacy hanger on door. We returned at around 630 pm and found panties and a hat in our closet that were not there earlier. Spoke to front desk manager who offered no assistance other than to come get the panties. My wife had already changed out with our linen and were checking out the next day after initially planning to extend our stay. Changing rooms would not help. I called Priceline that I booked room through, they could not get manager on duty to take any other action. Manager told Priceline that housekeeping could not find the items. I had Priceline tell him to bring gloves and come get the panties. Manager responded and took panties in bag and asked me if there was anything else??? The stay was going ok until this event
What killed the stay for our family is that there were roaches everywhere! My husband went downstairs to the front desk, the night of our stay, and was told that there was not another room to put is in. We were told we would be comped $50, and they actually comped us $60. If it wasn't for the roaches, probably would have been a good experiences. My granddaughter and her friend were so frightened, they begged to sleep in the car, and we did not get any sleep and left the first thing in the morning. We were told that they had just had the hotel fumigated, but looking at past reviews from other sites, this seems to be the standard response. Absolutely unacceptable. When we got home, we had to leave all our luggage, coolers and everything else in the driveway to air our to make sure we did not bring bugs into our home. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you're okay with roaches. Again, if there were no roaches, this might be an okay place to stay. We didn't stick around to check out breakfast. The night before the nice man at the front desk gave the girls cookies, we threw them away.
We arrived at 2:30 pm and check-in begins at 3. Jennifer was able to get us checked into both rooms immediately. Additionally, we did request adjoining rooms and she spent an extra few minutes with us to see if this could be honored and she got it done for us! This gave us a great start to our family vacation! The hot breakfast items were changed up daily. Usually, most BW locations keep it the same all weekend. This was awesome to have something different every morning! Our next beach trip will definately be booked here!
We arrived late afternoon. Check in with simple, when we got to the room we found leftover food in the refrigerator and the cleanliness of the carpet and linens questionable. We were then moved 2 more times until it was acceptable.
I have stayed at this BW many times in the last few years with positive reviews. This time... unfortunately we were placed in a room mold in bathroom and no stopper for bathtub. They were sold out and we could not be reassigned. Their maintenance staff tried to clean off the mold in the bathtub the best they could but only had a little time as they were ending their shift for the day. This room should not have been in service at all. We were traveling with a family 2 members with respiratory issue and were only there one night and did not have time to find a new hotel due to our schedule dealing with a family emergency. We spoke to management and receive some BW points for our inconvenience. For the price point of this hotel, we expected a clean and functioning bathroom.
Overall, our experience was very good at this hotel. Breakfast was good, maybe should have a few more drink options for kids. Pool was nice. Room was overall clean. A few stains on chair and a little dirt in the drawers but overall clean. Bathroom was nice. Overall nice and quiet and would stay here again.
We needed a pet-friendly hotel for a few nights while we moved our daughter to Wilmington and chose this one based on TA reviews. After a long, hard day of moving we checked in around 6 PM and were greeted by the most friendly, helpful staff we've encountered in years. The room was spotless and in order but showing some wear and tear. 24 hour coffee in the lobby and good choices for the breakfast buffet. The staff made the difference and we would definitely stay again.
Really enjoyed my stay, had to go to class and left husband there in room to check out at 12:00, it was great, he watched tv in the foyer and had breakfast, everyone treated him great, he has to stay there while I was in class from 9 to 12. Really appreciate everyone.
The room was fill of cock roaches. Filthy dirty. i have stayed several times at this hotel and had great experiences. but this last time the room was dirty. killed over 8 cockroaches. The management did spray the next morning and we we come back found 10 more cockroaches died.
This is a great place to stay, everything you need and a great breakfast. Location is very good with many good places to go for dinner that are close by. Staff at the front desk were very helpful. I would definitely recommend this Best Western.
The front desk was so helpful and accommodating late at night in finding my family a room after we had a terrible experience up the street at another hotel. They saved my trip and put my mind at ease!
Stayed here last night while moving daughters furniture into her new apartment. Friendly front desk staff, but the room was quite dirty. Pretzel pieces on the floor, sticky food substance on the desk and chair, long hair all over bathroom floor. Gross. When I mentioned it to the staff when checking out, I just got an “ok”. Couldn't care less. With so many options in town, and since we'll be visiting Wilmington frequently, we'll be looking for other options.
My son in law made the arrangements for us to stay at this hotel for our grandaughters graduation. My husband and I were very impressed the moment we walked in the front door. Jennifer who was at the front desk is one on the most congenial receptionist that we have met in a long time. She has the greatest personality with a smile that was contagious. The hotel is in a great location for the graduation and restaurants. The hotel breakfast was great and the rooms were comfortable and clean. We will definitely be staying here again.
Our stay could not have been better. Even though we arrived early, we were able to get into our room. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy. Room was large and spotless. Bed was comfortable. TV and Wifi worked great. Breakfast was delicious. Perfect stay.
From the moment we walked in the door Jennifer, smiled and greeted us with the biggest smile. From then on I knew that this was the place to stay !!! This lady is the best at professionalism and customer service. She accommodated our every need. Jennifer has to be the best Front Desk Supervisor I have ever seen and that is saying a lot. We stayed here for our daughter's graduation, so we were all anxious about every little detail. My in-laws were also checking in to the hotel at the same time so I was really nervous about them liking the hotel, they are used to 5-star hotels. Jennifer made everyone feel like we were a part of her family. Ok enough about Jennifer, the hotel was very clean and well maintained. The breakfast was always full and attended to. I would definitely stay here again. Overall the hotel was very good but Jennifer made it great!!!
Great location. Close to all restaurants and the college .It made getting around town very easy. Breakfast was more than adequate and the staff were very helpful. It was excellent value for the money considering that everything was full due to the graduation weekend
My wife and i stayed here for a wedding and if you like an average hotel for a good price, then this is your place! Room was clean and easy to navigate. The water pressure was good but the second morning the temp was hard to keep hot. The breakfast area was nice and filled with pretty standard hotel fair. The biggest thing that my wife and i didn't like was that even though our room was non-smoking, the halls and elevator areas were filled with a lingering smoke smell. Not ruling out staying here again but we'll see.
Old Hotel. Last renovated maybe in the 80's or 90's. Toilet did not want to send objects down. Did not replace all used towels and wash cloths and hand towels. Bright lights shinning on building light up the room around edges of curtains.
Parking is minimal, but the location is great! Lots of great places to eat nearby. Hotel is clean and nicely decorated. Rooms are quiet and comfortable. The coffee bar is great and goes 24/7, the breakfast rates right along with any 4 star hotel. The staff is friendly and professional. Go there!
Overall I can say this was one of the best stay at a hotel in the Wilmington area in a long time. The staff was very friendly and the room was very clean. Plenty of parking spaces. Walking distance of a restaurant.
I stayed in room 321. woke up wednesday moring to a rash on my right hand. I went to work thinking i got bite my a spider i took some over the counter medicaine. I woke up thurday morning to more all over my body. Then i took the bed apart and found bed bugs. There was blood on my sheets where they got me and I took pic. I checked out as soon as i found them and told the lady what i found and the bites on my arm and shoulders. I got a im sorry and i was refunded my money. I also had to throw all my things away due to i have a 5 month old son and a 6yr daughter and i dont want the hotel bugs in my house. When i got home i started to swell around the bites and had to go the er. Wish i could send the bill to the hotel for the er visit and my personal thing i had to throw
The staff is very friendly, breakfast options were good and plenty of selections. Rooms could be cleaner. Carpet and furniture should be cleaned. Mold in the bathrooms. It's hard to pick a hotel from pictures. I went by reviews and maybe those experiences were good. But I do recommend hotel management look at room 208.
Very clean, comfortable bed, quiet and enjoyable stay. Super convenient and walking distance to several restaurants and shops. Walmart Supercenter a mile away. Got in after dark and ordered Olive Garden to go. Drove around the corner to pick up and bring back to room. Would definitely stay again!
Good hotel, convenient location. Breakfast was well stocked and fairly good. Service was good and front desk staff was friendly. No real complaints. Small exercise room. TV could have more channels but it was OK.
This hotel was clean, comfortable and friendly, with one huge defect. There were the usual glaring lights outside the building, but the heavy drapes were only decorative -- they didn't close! What kind of cost saving measure is this? Thus we ended up with a "poor" experience and bad night's sleep. We booked through Agoda, which I don't think I'll do again. After we printed out the invoice, we noticed the small print, "breakfast not included." This turned out to be unenforceable, since the breakfast area was open to all.
Hotel was spotless. Staff.very friendly and helpful. Good location great price everything you need is within 5 minutes of the hotel will definitely stay here again the next time I am in the area. Glad I found this hotel
We stayed here one night. Even though there was an extra charge for our pet we thought the experience would be worth it. I'd have to say we were somewhat disappointed. First at check in I was asked to sign a paper that said the pet fee was an additional $50. I had made the reservation through the 800 number and they specifically told me the pet fee was $20. The hotels web site also said $20. Lawrence, the clerk, acted surprised at the $20 amount, checked it out and changed the number on the form from $50 to $20. Also the first room we were assigned to (103) had a strong cigarette odor. This is a 100% non-smoking facility. When I went back to Lawrence once again he seemed surprised about the odor but immediately changed us to a room that smelled pleasant. It was clean but old. On the positive side, the breakfast was very adequate and well presented. I'd rate it very good. The location is safe and secure whereas some areas of Wilmington are not. Parking was very convenient and there were plenty of restaurants and shopping options nearby. Overall for the money we paid I would say our experience was average at best. When we get back to Wilmington (and we will) we'll probably look for other options for lodging.
This is a clean, typical hotel. No fanfare, but nothing bad to report other than someone smoking at the entrance door. I have asthma and it is very annoying to have to walk through cigarette smoke; common decency does not exist in today's society it seems. The exterior is currently being renovated. The room showed average signs of wear, but these may going to be renovated in the future.
We checked in Saturday December 15th 2018 @ 5:00pm with Jennifer who expressed Wonderful customer service. She made my husband and I feel very welcome. The rooms are clean! Breakfast area was very clean, well kept and stocked. Breakfast attendant was constently cleaning and stocking area. Great staff & Great place to stay!
Our experiences at all BW sites have always been very good, and this stay was right at the top of our experiences. We have not had any dissatisfaction with this or any BW stay. We are planning on more trips this year and will surely be staying at a Best Western.
This is a great hotel. Updated and clean! All the staff was very friendly. Pet friendly a plus. Rooms were reasonably priced. All in all great place to stay. We will be back next month! I would recommend to all!
Arrived with family for a weekend event. The outside of the hotel was nice with plenty of parking. Lobby was up to date and modern looking. Check in was smooth. Our first room had some issues which were immediately brought to the attention of the front desk. We were promptly given a new room and apologized to. New room was clean and neat and somewhat modern. The bathroom was large and clean. The pillows were those half pillows with folded over cases. I hate these as they aren't big enough and are awkward to sleep on. The bed was not the worst I've slept on but not the best. My only other complaint was after check in a maid knocked on the door, didn't announce and bathed in after 5 seconds while we were getting dressed. She then asked if we needed anything. I found this rather odd and suspicious.
My room was not cleaned and was very dated. Food from a previous guest was left in the room shoved under the tv stand. The room smelled of mildew and the carpets needed vacuuming. The room was very dated. After checking the reviews online, I was afraid to raise a complaint since a previous guest was thrown out by the manager for complaining about a theft. With the hurricane so recently,I was not sure what other options I might have had available. Beware ....the pictures in they provide do not tell the truth.
I needed a room for 1 night and being that it was 4 weeks post Hurricane Florence, I'm lucky to have found one in this area at all. I didn't use any of the amenities during my stay, I did however, grab a bowl of oatmeal and an apple (the breakfast of Champions!) on my way out the door the next morning.
Customer Service at the front desk was very kind and informative as soon as we arrived we were hungry and she recommended the best seafood spot nearby our hotel. Our room had a very nice Queen Size bed with the freshest sheets and fluffiest pillows, nice large window with blackout drapes. A nice sized closet the could fit our clothes and suitcases. Excellent shower and bathroom, clean. A comfy couch and chair to kick back on while chillin' on WiFi or watching a show on their flat screen tv. To top it all off, room service was most excellent, and the one maid that serviced our room was friendly, and she reassured us that everything would be fresh and clean and just like we wanted it when we came back to our room. Our hotel had a nice pool and jacuzzi which was safe and clean. This hotel a nice continental breakfast and a cocktail bar for mixed drinks or a beer if you're feeling that way. The location of the hotel was near tons of restaurants and a Walmart was right across the way within walking distance. A bank was next door with an ATM, if for some reason you needed quick cash. Last but not least we were less than 15 mins from both Wrightsville Beach and Carolina Beach. We had the best dinner at a nearby restaurant called Cape Fear Seafood...Our stay at Best Western Plus at the Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach location was so excellent that it will forever be one of our favorite go to hotels at Wrightsville Beach. Ice machines were available when we needed ice and vending machines were available if we wanted snacks to munch on.
We had such an excellent stay on September 6, 2018. We were particularly grateful to Lawrence who was so helpful. My husband has a disability and Lawrence went over and above to make our checkin very smooth after a long day of travel. We will look forward to staying with you on our next visit to Wilmington. We love Wilmington!!
Front desk people are friendly. Check in was a breeze. We were able to check in earlier at 1pm. The room is clean. Bathroom is clean and shower has good water pressure. Outdoor pool is just a basic rectangular pool. Nothing special. There's plenty on places to eat. IHOP is next door. There's a Cracker Barrel across the street. The beach is 5 miles away. Breakfast is not so good but it's free. The scrambled eggs was watery. The sausage tastes like it was frozen and heated in microwave. Even the hard boiled eggs had a bitter after taste. But there's cereal and fruits, bagels and muffin. The make yourself waffle was really dry. Coffee is good. But again...it was free. And IHOP is next door if you want a more decent meal. We will stay here again if we come back to Wilmington.
Pleasantly surprised with this Best Western Plus. The hotel extremely comfortable, very clean, the breakfast amazing and the staff wonderful and helpful. The price inexpensive and worth every penny! I would highly recommend the property. We were planning at another property but didn't like the looks of it when we tried to check in. Thankfully the Best Western had available. We stayed two nights and will return. The staff at breakfast truly love their jobs and the food fabulous.
Nice clean property that appears to be recently renovated. There was a family or class reunion going on our floor, which was a little noisy far a while, but it calmed down by 11:00. Nice breakfast area with good choices, or there is an IHOP next door. Adequate free parking. Quick access to downtown Wilmington and UNC-W.
Rooms were very spacious and clean and tidy. Breakfast spread was adequate to meet our requirements. Hotel is conveniently located very near to the freeway and not too far from the center of activities. We had a very comfortable stay. We had 2 rooms and we were with a very small baby. Reception was very happy to check us in early before the check in time.
This was a nice hotel and close to the beach. We did not have any issues and would probably stay here again. I would recommend staying here if you're just looking for a decent place to stay. The rooms were nice and clean.
Perfect place Just outside (5 miles) from the historic area of Wilmington. Tobias checked us in and assisted with our need for a rollaway bed. Pool was clean and refreshing. Overall everything you would expect from this hotel category. Breakfast was typical. Eggs and bacon served in a warmer. Typical bread selection with cereals. Waffle station took sometime but is always kids favorite. Best part, a Costco was next door with a gas station plenty of restaurants in the area.
The hotel was very clean and the room was spacious. There are NO views. I had a small window looking at the parking lot and highway. I woke up every morning with the sun shining in the room. The sheer did not block the light and the half curtain didn't close. The breakfast waffles were delicious with strawberry and walnut toppings. The eggs were not cooked hard enough for me and there weren't any boiled eggs. I liked that the selection of hot food changed each day; i.e. one day sausage and one day bacon. There were other options as well; i.e. oatmeal, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt The location was good for traveling to the beaches and to the riverfront downtown. It was a short drive to Wrightsville beach but also not a bad ride to Carolina and Kure beaches.
Good buy, dog friendly, and pretty clean. There was an extra fee for having the dog but even then it was much cheaper than the other options available. The only issue was that other dogs barked, but of course that's not the hotels fault.
Our usual hotel was booked due to college move in weekend, so we tried this hotel. It was very clean and quiet, even though it's right next to highway. The breakfast was eggs, bacon, oatmeal bar, cereals, yogurt, waffles and an assortment of muffins and pastries. It was pretty decent. There is decent coffee in the lobby 24 hours so that was a plus!
They have nice clean rooms & the beds were very comfortable. The free breakfast was just 'so so'. Only went there once out of eight mornings. Most of the staff were friendly & helpful, but they never seemed to clean our room everyday. We had to ask them to clean the room 4 out of the 8 nights that we were there. We always left the room before noon so the room could be done properly. Half the time when we came back in the room in the afternoon, it was not done & we had to ask them to take care of our room for us. That was unacceptable.
Best employees from the front desk and housekeeping staff to the ladies preparing breakfast. Our room was clean and everything worked well. It was nice to have a refrigerator, microwave, good shower and a/c.
Staff was very friendly. Had no issues checking in or finding my room. Coffee is avaialbe 24/7 in lobby which was very nice. Also had coffee in room and staff accomedate extra coffee for me. Breakfast was fantastic. Had no issues finding parking. Hotel was very neat and clean. Close to shopping and restaurants. Plenty of channels avaliable on TV. Wi-fi was one of the better connections I've gotten recently at a hotel. Hotel is very close to I-40 and Wlimington airport.
Literally one of the best places I have ever stayed. Lawrence was great answering our questions on the phone and getting us checked in. The lobby is great, the rooms are clean and wonderful, laundry available on site!
Location was good for visiting downtown Wilmington or going to Wrightsville Beach, although parking was difficult in both areas. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean, could use some updates, but bed was comfortable and was quiet considering it's near the highway. Free breakfast was good and not crowded. Plenty of parking and convenient to stores and restaurant chains.
We enjoyed nearly everything about our stay at this Best Western. The best thing was the continental breakfast; plenty of hot and cold options, more than I would expect from this type of hotel. The only downside for us was that although they provided a pack and play for my toddler to sleep in, it was very uncomfortable and she ended up sleeping with me which resulted in a rough night for both of us. We mentioned it to the front desk the next morning and they said they were ordering new ones, so maybe this won't be an issue in the future. I was impressed by a housekeeper who noticed me looking for a place to fill my water bottle before we took off for the day. She told me where I could get water and offered to fill the bottle for me as me hands were juggling luggage and a toddler. Location was good. We were within about 10 minutes of the beach to the east and downtown Wilmington to the west.
Spent a weekend here after a last minute booking via Priceline. The lady who checked us in was very nice. Having gotten our keycards we went to the room and found that we'd been allocated a single king bed rather than two queens, which we needed. I went back down and despite the problem being with Priceline's submission of the reservation, she worked quickly to resolve it (at a minimal additional cost). Room was clean but since it was a replacement room on a busy weekend we were beside the door to the stairs which meant being woken early both days as people came and went. A/C was also quite loud but remarkably there was little traffic noise despite it being close to the highway. Breakfast was as you'd expect but plentiful and constantly replenished. Coffee was better than in many such places I've stayed. This hotel is well located, minutes from UNCW, 10-15 minutes from downtown and 20-40 minutes from beaches, depending on where you're heading. Very, very convenient to I40 for travel.
The location is good. there are things to do on Market street. I checked in and the guy on night shift just gave me my room keys. Did not explain anything about WIFI connection, gym, breakfast, check out time etc. I guess he hates working nights. Breakfast is hot and the lady constantly checks and fills in. Coffee machine did not have BOLD coffee. The light stays on
Jennifer checked my family & I in she is so sweet & helpful. The young lady working the breakfast was pleasant too. The hotel lobby room & pool was clean. We will definitely stay here again went visiting Wilmington NC..
It was an average hotel, nothing fancy. My son loved the pool!Breakfast not the best but ihop right beside it.It is only 15 minutes from the beach. They are pet friendly which is nice but need too clean the pet rooms better!!! A bit stuffy in the room.Good shower, water pressure
If you aren't planning on spending every waking moment at the beach this hotel is an affordable alternative at half the price of ocean front lodging within 5-10min of Wrightsville Beach and 15min to downtown Wilmington. There are numerous restaurants and retail shopping within walking distance. The rooms were clean and modern. The continental breakfast was well stocked and provided a nice selection. No complaints. Great stay!
There was a problem that was solved quickly, beautifully, and intelligently. I was very satisfied and will patronize this establishment in the future just based on their willingness to keep a customer happy.
Buffet variety breakfast. Great beds and ac and bathrooms. Nothing was too much trouble. Costco is next door and a shopping mall. Bone fish grill, Olive Garden, ihop, crackerbarrel not far away x Fort fisher beach has free parking. Nice rest rooms. Out door foot shower. Visitors centre and nearby aquarium. Wrightsville Beach was great. Parking $2.50 per hr.
Stayed as part of a long bike ride, found the place to be clean with a friendly staff. Location is great with plenty of shopping and food nearby. Enjoyed the free breakfast, well stocked, hot, and fresh. Will go back.
I called today to ask the front desk things about the hotel since I have never been there. The man who answered my call, which I am upset I didn't get his name but he pissed me off before I could ask, Anyway the man was very rude, impatient and had a smart mouth. I called to ask if they accepted dogs, how far was the beach from the hotel and if the hotel included breakfast? Very simple routine questions that any person that works at the front desk of a hotel SHOULD be able to answer and SHOULD be use to people calling and asking them these routine questions. I felt as if I was a bother to him and I WILL NOT BEING STAYING AND PAYING MY MONEY TO NOBODY THAT DOESN'T WANT MY BUSINESS. Do you know how many people I know? Do you know how much referring to hotels I do for people? And this is how you treat potential customers? Well guess what your hotel just went to the top of my S*** list and I WILL NEVER BOOK A RESERVATION FOR MYSELF OR LET ANYONE I KNOW EITHER. NOT THAT YOU CARE OBVIOUSLY.
we were a family of 4 plus a child of 8 weeks. Had 2 rooms and stayed for 2 nights. Rooms were very comfortable, clean. Hotel is walking distance from Costco and Academy stores. Nearby locations are all good restaurants, beaches and also easily accessible to I40.
Location is not too far from the beach we went. We stayed one night. Room seemed clean. Staff were courteous. The continental breakfast was average, but satisfied. We booked the hotel one day ahead, so price was somewhat high; other than that we were quite satisfied.
Spent one night here visiting relatives. The hotel was clean, the staff was pleasant and the bed was comfortable. The rate was very reasonable considering it was the Thursday of Memorial Day weekend. Would definitely stay at this hotel the next time we are in town.
This is great.. we only needed the room for one night but it is super clean and the disk staff was so nice. So CLEAN and very helpful staff. I am super pleased and we will come back here if we are ever in town again.
This hotel was very nice and the breakfast was great and very satisfying. My wife and I have stayed here a couple of times and come back here when we are in town. The overall appearance was excellent and the accommodations were very nice. Highly recommend this BWP anytime.
This hotel is well located between, and near to both Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach and the other beaches. Everything was clean and well maintained. Real fast was better than we expected. We enjoyed our stay there.
Hotel staff was nice and gave good recommendations for local restaurants. Hot breakfast, 3 juices, stocked well and fresh. Clean room, quiet. Next to many restaurants and stores within walking distance.
On coach tour very friendly staff. Room and breackfast fine. Told us of places to eat. As it was a very long way from wilmington town. On a very busy road next to the high way. Wouldnt have called it wilmington
Overall we had a good trip despite the rain! We stayed in room 127 near the end on the first floor. Room was clean, we enjoyed being near the exit for potty breaks for our pups, and we found the bed to be quite comfortable. Breakfast had a good selection and we definitely felt well fed every morning. I only have a couple of issues that: 1) Please replace the plastic cutlery and plates with either real ceramic plates or use biodegradable plates. It is so terrible for the environment 2) There was some sort of gathering/kids sports team staying at the hotel. There were kids running up and down the halls and yelling all evening. If it was mid afternoon it would be fine but this was ridiculous. Eventually we opened the door and told the kids to stay out of this hallway if they wanted to make a lot of noise. Luckily they went off somewhere else but it was just kind of crazy how they just had the run of the place and no one said anything. The purpose of the trip was just fine though. I like the location and that it's pet friendly. Not really a lot of road noise. Overall I'd consider coming again. Happy travels!
The room we had was great, spacious enough, fridge, microwave and AC. The only thing I don't quite understand is why aren't there ceramic plates and metal cutlery? When you have your breakfast you don't want to eat as if you are staying on a camping? It is okay with me that you care about the environment but this is ridiculous.
We stayed here for 2 nights travelling down the coast. No complaints: nice lady in reception, room has everything you need and is clean. The hotel is very close to the highway, but you hardly hear a thing. On our first night 2 inebriated couples were laughing and shouting in the swimmingpool, but at 10pm the pool closed and they were shood off. Our only criticism concerns breakfast: the plates, cutlery and cups are made of plastic and styrofoam. What a lot of plastic is thrown away every day... In the bathroom they try to save the planet by urging you to re-use your towel and they pride themselves on being “commited to our environment”. For me that doesn't tie in with heaps of plastic being thrown away. All in all, great value for money. Personally, i wouldn't mind paying a few dollars more per night for “real” plates, cups and cutlery.
Really enjoyed our short stay here. Staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms was clean and comfortable. The whole atmosphere was pleasant while the location was ideal. Was a nice price not overboard and was able to have a quiet nights rest.
Hotel was clean, nice place to stay. The bed was comfortable. It was quiet. Staff were pleasant. Breakfast was good, better than most. We stay here each year when visiting our daughter at college so location to UNCW is great.
Clean, airy hotel. Hotel staff was great and easy to work with. The breakfast was nice with a lots to choose from. The room as clean and comfortable. The pool was great to cool off! The location is good too, near the shopping and not far from the beach. The only issue was the area. There was a disheveled woman under the stairs one night, and a man passed out in the lawn another day. My vehicle got several nails in the tires whilst driving in the parking lot. Several panhandlers were at the intersection almost every day. I know these are issues Beat Western can't help, but if you're traveling solo like me or have little ones I'd be cautious. I will definitely use the Coastline next time!
Stay here for two nights. While seeing the USS Carolina. Very nice hotel. Our room was clean. Even smelled cleaned. The Breakfast was very good for our two breakfasts there. My only draw back was the curtains in the room. We like a dark room to sleep. We had lights from the parking lot all night in our room. The curtains are not black out ones. We left shirts in the closet there. I called fast back to the hotel. They had house keeping go up and get them. Which I thank a lot for doing this. They mailed our shirts to us. Over all I was very pleased with this BW.
My husband and I enjoyed a couple of days away in Wilmington. We were able to book this hotel last minute for a good price. It was about ten minutes outside of town. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed that the continental breakfast included hot food too. I recommend!
Room was decent. Very worn out carpeting. Skip breakfast. Go next door to Ihop. Kema at the front desk is a very nice lady. Always had a smile. The location is actually good too. I suppose I'd stay back at this hotel because of that reason.
I have stayed here for over 100 nights in the past year. Close to restaurants, shopping, and tourism. I find it comfortable working out of this BE. Easy to get up and go to work and easy to return and rest. Pricing is fair and the breakfast won't surprise you.
I was just here for the Wrightsville Beach Half Marathon, this was a great location only several miles from the beach, downtown and only a couple miles from UNCW. The hotel is clean and looks newly updated. The staff was very friendly, and the breakfast attendant opened up breakfast half an hour early just for me. I asked just to make a waffle and grab some juice before my race and she started bringing out the eggs, bacon, etc. Would definitely stay at again.
We stayed at the Best Western Plus Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach because it was pet friendly. Our family of three with 2 small lap dogs stayed here. The room was a good price but it was a little smaller than other BW Plus hotels that we stayed at. The beds were not queen size but rather were smaller full size beds. Although it was a pet friendly room we stayed in, there was a very prominent musty odor in the room - likely from other pets. This room needs to be thoroughly shampooed/cleaned to remove the musty odor - after all, that is what the extra nightly pet fee is supposedly for. The bathroom was small but clean with a single sink only. The hotel is near I-40 and Market Street so there is some traffic noise but it is less if you request a back room. There is a small fitness room with elliptical machine, bike, weight machine, and treadmill. Wifi is free and in the lobby there is a business desk with computer and printer for guests. The included breakfast was good (scrambled eggs, bacon, oatmeal, waffles, cold cereal, bagels, toast, muffins, yogurt, fruit, etc. but not exceptional (some BW Plus hotels also have mini omelets, sausage, hard boiled eggs, etc). Friendly and helpful check in person. Good overall value for the price but you get what you pay for.
we have been several years, my daughter is in UNCW and college , downtown, many shopping areas, , historical sites, staff was friendly. Good breakfast choices, clean rooms. The staff was helpful with traveling and restaurant tips.
Staff was very friendly at check in and check out..Great location easy to get to. Place was very clean, room was very nice and this is a pet friendly hotel and searching so many hotels this one bet them all for price and being so very nice. Place was not noisy at all. The breakfast was very good. Would stay here again.
My family and I stayed here over the New Year's Holiday 2017-2018 and everyone we met was very helpful. Doris was extremely helpful during breakfast each day. The breakfast itself was particularly great complete with eggs, a waffle-maker with toppings, several types of pastries, coffee, hot chocolate, various juices and flavored water. Cassie, the assistant manager, was also very helpful at checkout.
Not the fanciest or hotels but lots of nice upgrades. Breakfast in the AM was good though limited seating inside when busy. We sat out by the pool. Lots of grass and landscaped areas for pets. Nice if you're trying to do the beach and Wilmington.
Always a pleasure to stay at this BW. We ask for a room on the Costco side to get away from the highway noise, and it's always very quiet. Beds are very comfy. Linen is soft. Very clean. Service is excellent. Breakfasts are super good. Well-located near shopping and beach. Never disappointed.
We came down for a visit to see a graduation. Best Western is always one of my preferred chains. And the price was unbeatable, so we decided to stay. I was not disappointed. The property is :beautiful, clean, just perfection. Those are always nice qualities in a hotel, but what really makes his location stand out is the staff. The nicest, most warm people I have ever had the opportunity to meet. Answered all our questions and went above and beyond to answer some ridiculous ones. If you are visiting the area... stay here!
Exceptionally nice property. Stayed here just one night as it is very near the airport. Great location for our needs. Nice. Fast Wi-fi. Great Value. Very comfortable beds. Will return when back in the area. Recommended
I stayed at this BW for 36 days due to work. Although they didn't give me a price break the hotel was comfortable as was the room. The staff was pleasant and the room was OK although there was an aroma in the room that the cleaners were not able to get rid of.
I was a little skeptical about booking here after reading some of the reviews of the pet friendly rooms, but our experience was excellent. We were in room 103 and it was clean, carpets looked new, room was very quiet. Check in staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, hot scrambled eggs, bacon, lots of other options for vegetarians. A well lit area to walk pets. We walked to the new store down the street, Academy Sports, and each of us got $20 grand opening gift cards which we promptly spent in the store. All in all, a great experience. The total price was around $75, a very reasonable cost. I am often perplexed by reviews criticizing lodging for not having this or that. I think a review should always be done with the class of service in mind. I felt we got more than we paid for at the Best Western in WB.
We normally stay in Wilmington, but, found this true value just down the road...and, believe it or not, it was close to $100 dollars less than the Best Western in Wilmington. So, chose the Wrightsville Beach location, and save a bit. The staff was as friendly and helpful as possible. At the front desk, Jennifer couldn't have been more professional, and entertaining, at the same time. The breakfast had plenty to choose from, and they were excellent selections. Excellent hotel!
We had only planned on staying one night here, visiting some of the historic places. Unfortunately heavy rainstorm changed our plans. Hotel extended our stay, staff was very helpful. Breakfast is a first class treat.
Have stayed at the Wilmington.Wrightville Beach for the past few years on our way over to the Outer Banks. The location. Is great as we always do our beach grocery shopping at Costco, which is right next door to the hotel. Always have great service at your hotel and will continue at stay at the Best Western.
The staff continuously went above and beyond their jobs to make things as nice as possible. Cookies in the evenings, the best hotel breakfast variety and quality I have ever had, and the coffee, water and hot water available at all times was such an unexpected treat! I left my pillow, but they stored it and returned it to me. I was very impressed.
I have stayed at this hotel for business over 60 nights over the past year and it is always very clean, conveniently located, affordable and the staff is always friendly. I have never had a bad night at this hotel.
My husband and I checked in this hotel on a Sunday evening; upon entrance into the room there was a cheerio laying on the floor right at the bed which shows that the maid had not cleaned the floor after the previous guests. I did not say anything but we waited the next day to see if it was cleaned. We went out Monday and after being out all day came back in and guess what - that cheerio was STILL laying there; the floor had not been clean. The next thing about this hotel was no water pressure and Sunday night there was not any HOT water, just lukewarm; it was better Monday night though. I did not mention the water to the clerk when I checked out but did mention the cheerio and his reply was "I'll see that it gets picked up" what about vacuuming the whole room instead of just picking up the cereal?? Told him I even wonder if the towels were clean or just fluffed and folded and put back on the shelf. He said "no we always change the towels." Besides this little irritation, the room was okay and we did get some sleep. The best thing was the breakfast and the lady that worked so hard to keep it stocked and clean....Kudos to her!!
I booked this hotel for a business trip. I stayed there for two nights, it was suppose to be three nights, but I couldn't make it. I called and spoke to the manager(Ricardo) and told him what was going on, he was polite and adjustment my reservation. I thankful because he did not have to do it.
This Best Western is conveniently located approximately 8 miles from downtown. It is very clean, has a really good breakfast and welcomes the state rate. I appreciated the staff, especially the housekeeping staff who were very thorough and attentive to my needs.
If you need a dog friendly hotel this one is excellent. They have a list of regulations for you dog's behavior, very reasonable, that make the stay for all comfortable. Been here twice and would go again. So nice that I hesitate to recommend as it is hard to find high quailty dog friendly hotels and I want to keep this gem to myself.
Helpful and pleasant staff, clean well decorated rooms, quiet. Location was perfect - right between downtown historic district and beach. Lots of places to eat within 1/2 mile and stores if you need anything. Easy access to highway. Will definitely stay here again.
Wilmington was not a destination for us, just a drive through city on our way south. So glad we had a comfortable, clean place to overnight. Efficient, friendly staff and a no nonsense, delicious breakfast to send us on our way. This location gives a better price than the downtown motels/hotels, yet it wasn't that difficult for us to head down the road to the central city attractions. In the morning, we had an easy return to the highway bypass, heading south to Charleston.
Our first room smelled musty. Turns out that the AC was leaking and the carpet was soaked. Th staff immediately changed out room. Breakfast items could have been warmer. Some were cool to cold. Cold eggs...ugh.
This hotel advertised pillow top beds, which was completely false advertisement. I've stayed in a lot of hotels, and I would have to say that this was one of the most uncomfortable beds that I've ever slept in. As well, the bathroom in the room had NO FAN! When we would shower, the bathroom became extremely hot and uncomfortable and would make the rest of the room feel super damp and humid. Also, if someone had to go to the bathroom (you know what I mean), then it would make the ENTIRE room smell like a toilet, which as you can imagine, was pretty disgusting. When plugging in things in that same bathroom, the plugs would constantly fall out of the outlet (ie drying my hair was a battle as it kept on unplugging on me.) The staff was nice, especially the cleaning and breakfast ladies; however, when checking out the gentleman working the counter wasn't super friendly and he never asked how our stay was (which obviously wasn't good). Overall, it was not a good experience and I would not at all recommend staying here.
We have stayed here may time and always find the service great. Breakfast is busy, but very well stocked and always find a table. Wifi works well plus business center onsite with computers and free printing. As for the rooms, lighting could be improved and bathrooms are a bit dated.
The entire staff was amazing!! From the manager to the housekeepers, and everyone in between. They catered to me and my dog. Clean and quiet facility. 10 mins to the beach. They raised the bar of hotel expectations!
The room was not the cleanest or best lit. And I was woken up militiple times in the night due to loud noise. Prior to getting there, while booking the room, the person on the phone was not the friendliest. The ladies serving breakfast were great.
Clean and comfortable room, helpful staff. My stay was peaceful and everything was to my complete satisfaction. I'd recommend to anyone and would stay there again myself in a heartbeat. Great rate too!
When traveling with a pet, you are limited to where you can stay. Paid extra $$ for taking our pet. They don't use the money to keep the smell down in the rooms from past pets. When we opened the door that night the smell was so strong.
Again, thank you for helping make our 20th Anniversary so wonderful. Your hotel had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We would definitely come back again. We really enjoyed the free breakfast too. The food quality and various types of breakfast foods were outstanding. Thank you for making our trip so fun!!!
We were in town for a college tour at UNC-W with our son. The hotel was in the perfect location to visit the college campus (just a little over a mile). The room was clean, the breakfast was satisfying and the staff was very friendly. There were many restaurants in the immediate area as well as a WalMart for anything you left at home. We would definitely stay here again.
Comfortable room and nice free breakfast. Convenient location to UNCW and 10-15min to beach/river. Hotel seems dated, lobby, carpet, furniture could use upgrading. High traffic area w/ dealerships, shopping center.
Good location with easy access to old town Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach. Very nice breakfast area and plenty of restaurants close by. Large bathroom area, but the the two queen bed rooms a little tight. Easy access right off freeway yet still quiet.
If you are looking for a getaway to Wrightsville Beach you will not find many hotel options ON the beach. However, if you don't mind that, this hotel should be your choice. They will always make sure you enjoy your stay and help you in any way. I am very picky and I find this hotel, clean, comfortable and extremely accormodating
This was a very nice hotel in Wilmington, near to UNCW. We drove conveniently around the area. The room was great, the breakfast was good and the internet worked well. It's about a half hour drive to Carolina Beach. We would stay here again.
We stayed here one night on August 28. Needed to be close to the New Hanover Atlantic SurgiCenter. Hotel was convenient, 10-15 minutes away. Room was clean, nicely furnished, bed comfortable. My husband said the breakfast offered was excellent. Will probably stay again when have to go back in September.
Excellent location, centrally located between down town and beaches. Easy to find, easy to get into/out off. The staff is great, very polite and helpful. Rooms very clean, comfortable and up to date. Swimming pool is kept very clean, serviceable and uncluttered. Parking is plentiful and we'll lit at night. Very safe and quiet area. Breakfast is awesome!
Our hotel experience was wonderful! The room was lovely and close to many restaurants, stores and other useful places. We were offered a military discount upon arrival. The breakfast was delicious and offered a lot of pleasant variety. The staff members we spoke to were very polite, professional and helpful. They helped us with directions to different locations, including shortcuts and easier routes that kept us off the highway. We were very close to Wrightsville Beach, which was our main destination. If we are in the area again, we would definitely want to stay here again!
Upon check in, there was a problem with my assigned room bed covers not being changed from the last guest(s). I had to request the front desk to have housekeeping change the bed covers while I watched. The housekeeping staff was not very friendly; I had to ask them more than once to not speak Spanish but English.
Overall we had a relaxing stay. The lady that checked me in was very nice and professional. Beds were comfortable and the room was pet friendly-which is hard to find at a decent hotel without paying a fortune. $20 a day seems reasonable. The carpet needs to be cleaned or replaced. I know this is a per friendly room but clean people have pets as well. Most pet owners don't want to pay the same-actually more with pet fee than every other guest and get the old carpet while everyone else gets new carpet. The bedskirts and decor need to be replaced as its been there a while. The hotel overall is clean and the room seemed clean enough. Im a stickler about cleanliness and I did not walk on the carpet without shoes. Breakfast was great- we loved the bacon and selection. Fresh cookies daily were nice and yummy. The staff is a mix of excellent and not so nice but that's not unusual. The price was pretty reasonable for the area. This seemed to be a hangout for men working in the area, that smoked. I felt safe overall but they were always hanging out at the side door-all hours of the day and night which makes girls traveling alone uneasy, especially when you had to walk your dog outside.
The best thing about this location is its staff. Everyone was very helpful and accommodating after a long drive to get there. Our room was clean and quiet when we were there. The two breakfasts we ate were done well in terms of an included breakfast. Staff kept the foods filled and area clean. We didn't use the pool but it looked a little small compared to picture online. The beds were harder than we'd normally choose, but overall we had a pleasant stay. This location was perfect to get to riverwalk / downtown Wilmington, which is a cute little town, and Wrightsville Beach. Couldn't ask for better convenience. This hotel does allow pets, which doesn't appeal to me as someone with allergies, but it didn't really affect me though it might others.
room was king nonsmoking, very nice for our two pets, nonsmoking king bed, nice refrigerator, on first floor easy access to exit doors and parking lot. We stay at Best Westerns when we travel with our two rescue beagles. Very nice room
Great central location, great guest services & pool and the best breakfast selections available in its class. Nearby historic Port of Wilmington, The Battleship North Carolina and great local and national restaurants all around you. Access to the deep sea and touring and fishing; plus fishing from the piers nearby and right in the surf.
Great hotel, easy access to highway, beach, stores, restaurants. Very quiet..bed comfortable. Pool was ok for kids. I will stay again and recommend to other. Breakfast was great and reasonable. People friendly.
We decided to take a last minute weekend trip to the beach and go a great rate on the room. When we got there the receptionist was rude and unprofessional. When we asked to have a late check out at 7am she said she was all out of late check outs and refused to get a manager. We didn't have a good experience due to the front desk staff.
While traveling to Ocean Isle beach, we needed to stop in for the night so we found this place and were lucky enough to get a room. Unfortunately, it cost us $268 for the night. The room was clean and roomy for a double queen. Everything worked and we weren't here long so it worked out. The included breakfast helped with the costs so I would recommend this hotel. The night clerk was also very nice which is hard to find sometimes. I can't remember her name but she was very friendly and accommodating.
Overall not bad They are getting better with updates This is a old refurbished hotelOn the plus side the location for Wrightsville Beach is good along with a quick drive to Wilmington proper Less than 15 min for both
Check-in was fine, then it went downhill. There was no A/C in the elevators, which were stifling hot. My room on the 4th floor was on the backside of the building facing the highway, so I heard lots of traffic noise. The room had a musty odor, which I later discovered was due to the wet carpet under the A/C unit. There was dried urine on the back of the commode, coffee straws on the floor next to the trashcan, and there were several areas on the carpet that were 'crusty'. Someone banged on my door at 11:30 at night, which woke me up, and then I was awoken at 6 in the morning by people on the hall slamming their doors. Upon checkout, there was only one person at the desk, so I waited for almost 5 minutes while she took a phone reservation. When I showed her pictures of the issues in my room, she asked me to email the general manager. I wouldn't stay here ever again even if it were free. I don't understand how so many others have given it such good reviews!
Great Place!! Comfortable Rooms, Pet Friendly only 20 a night or 100 a week, Excellent Staff especially Tobias and Nick! Reasonable Price!! Thank You!! If we are ever in Wilimington again, we'll be checking in BW.
We picked this hotel for the outdoor pool and clos proximity to all thr beaches. Everybody on the night crew was awesome! We rarely saw anybody else due to travel during the day. The kid's loved the pool. Rooms were clean and plenty to choose from for breakfast. We would definitely stay again!
We wanted a little getaway time near the beach but also near some sight seeing. The location was perfect between downtown Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach. The breakfast was great, staff was friendly and helpful, room was comfortable and clean, and the price was right!
Best hotel stay in this area I've experienced. Rooms were clean, staff was nice, courteous and helpful. Easy access to the interstate and highway. Close to Writesville Beach. Shopping and restaurants in walking distance.
The area is a little busy during work travel hours. However it's offset by all the close attractions. Close to down town and the North Carolina Battleship. Good for families with children. It's foolish that I have to write 200 characters for this review
Very good selection of protein items, not your usual carbohydrate hotel breakfast. Bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. Quiet location even though next to elevated major highway. Only gripe... Yepping dogs heard in loby, was told the "dog rooms" were only on the 1st floor. Got room on 3rd. floor, none were encountered. We have no use for dogs, especially on vacation. Will reserch Best Western hotels better next time...
The owners of this hotel have taken the care and attention to keep their guest happy. Its clean and mostly quiet (I was awakened with kids coming in at 1:00AM). The breakfast is the typical BW fare...but it was better. Fresher. And if you are a Costco lover...right next door.
We were told this was not a great area by friends to stay in but I thought the area was fine and the hotel was very good. It is right off a main thoroughfare and was very easy to get to the location we were going to. We stayed three nights and the employees were very friendly, the hotel is very clean and we had no noise issues. We were on the ground floor as I don't take elevators, and we were quite pleased. The cost is very reasonable, the breakfast very good and I definitely would recommend this hotel.
Staff was pleasant and kind. Good location for visiting UNC Wilmington. Bed comfortable and the temperature control worked well. Toilet wobbly and did not flush well. Hair dryer turned off often while drying hair.
We stayed at 5 other hotel/motels on this trip, and this was by far the best. We highly recommend this hotel. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, the staff was very friendly. We saw some nice but loud younger folks when we arrived, but there wasn't any noise that disturbed our sleep or stay.
From the beginning, check in was excellent very quick and easy! Upon entering our room it was not cleaned very well. We were moved to another room which was decent . The bed was super comfortable! Breakfast not bad... waffles, cereal ,toast ,bagels ,bacon ,eggs ,juice ,milk ,coffee and water! This wouldn't be my go to place to stay each time I visit the area however it sufficed!
I liked this hotel, reasonable price and friendly staff, it's clean and pleasant and the included breakfast is also nice, and so are the amenities. Very close to Wrightsville Beach, pretty convenient to Wilmington attractions, and Kure Beach and Carolina Beach are about 40 minutes away.
If you travel a lot you should know what to expect both price wise and food/breakfast wise and Best Western Hotel and Resorts did not let us down. Everything was adequate - if you are picky or a high maintenance person - this is not your hotel. 90% of population should be satisfied.
First of all the people were very friendly and accommodating from the minute we walked in. The room was spacious and clean! We took advantage of the free continental breakfast and it was very good. It was a little pricey, but with beaches nearby and it being a college town that is to be expected
The room was clean and comfortable, great location, and excellent free breakfast. The beds were very comfortable, and the room is well-appointed with a microwave, mini fridge, desk and plenty of outlets.
Only a 5 mile straight shot to Wrightsville beach. Hotel easy to get to from the Triangle using I-40. Couldn't beat the price with AAA discount for a hotel of this caliber. We weren't looking for bells and whistles, just a decent place to sleep and shower between trips to beach, dinner, and area shopping. Reasonable rate for the dog. Good breakfast... I love making the waffles fresh. Best Western is my top choice now.
Fast check in and offered express check out upon arrival. Staff was very friendly and helpful when we asked question about restaurants and directions. Took time to listen and made our stay very enjoyable. Hotel and all surrounding were very clean and attractive. Breakfast was good and well stocked, had a large variety to choose. Enjoyed the free coffee in lobby appeared to be 24 hrs. Express check -out was great. Would recommend
Great hotel stay, staff was helpful and courteous, minutes away from Wrightsville Beach and lots of restaurants and shopping. An indoor pool would have made this stay Excellent as opposed to Very Good, but all in all we were very pleased with our stay.
Had an issue while at the hotel. Spoke with the supervisor on duty, Tobias, who was excellent at resolving it. Really appreciate the attention to customer service. Handled the situation very well. Very appreciative. Only positive to say about how they handled the situation.
I came for fathers day and everyone was really kind. rooms were spacious and clean. breakfast was great and hot. i will come back to this hotel. staff was nice and easy to talk to. great place for the family to visit
Room was fine; breakfast was great. The only problem we had was with the luggage carts. They are clumsy to handle, especially with a full cart. They are also smaller at most other hotels. A cart with four wheels rather than three would work better.
Hotel was centrally located to downtown waterfront area (@10 mins. away), restaurants (some within walking distance) and local beaches. The staff was courteous, rooms were very clean, and the complimentary breakfast was excellent, with many choices offered. We enjoyed our stay and definitely would recommend.
Ants were crawling all over the desk table and tv stand our entire stay . Stayed for 2 nights on 2nd floor-1st time in Wilmington and this hotel. When we addressed the issue with the front desk, they gave us a can of Raid and some window cleaner! We asked for a different room and they stated that they were booked due to Memorial Day weekend. incompetent and unprofessional staff - we were paying customers not exterminators. We are still awaiting a response from corporate as we contacted them as well .
The reason why I only gave it a OK was because it is a pet friendly hotel. I was promise no pets would be on the 4th floor, well what did I see going into a room a few doors from me. A giant dog.it was not a handicap helping dog , just a big old dog. When I complained I was told sometimes people sneak animals in. Other then that the room was clean, food was good, and most of the staff were very friendly. If it wasn't a pet friendly hotel would have rated it higher.
Pet friendly room was beyond expectations. Comfy bed, very clean. Staff from maids to front desk, kitchen and grounds, were helpful and full of smiles. Omelets and bacon at breakfast a big surprise. Breakfast area is large, nice seating, very clean. Kudos.
I had a great experience at this hotel! I was particularly impressed with the staff who was friendly, helpful, professional and welcoming! The overall quality of the hotel was great as well. My only feedback is to update the rooms a little bit (carpeting etc)
The hotel was very clean, comfortable beds, small breakfast was ok, average for a hotel, pool was clean. Microwave and refrigerator in the room. Quiet hotel. The location was great for our first trip to Wilmington, it was centrally located between the historic district and Wrightsville Beach (about a 10 minute drive) The hotel is located near several chain restaurants, Olive Garden, a few steak houses, Cracker Barrel. It is about 25 minutes to Carolina and Kure Beach.
not that great. overpriced. breakfast was okay, not great. no grassy knoll reenactment. would not clean the room, even though our small dog was in a cage. not like we had a snake or something. Reservations were messed up but they eventually got them sorted out. pool not open.
REALLY nice. Close to everything. Clean. Breakfast was terrific, and they replenished it frequently. I would highly recommend this hotel. It was pet friendly, and was on the first floor, and never heard a dog.
This is a very nice hotel, we enjoyed our stay, had dog in tow and everything was great. Breakfast was awesome, waffles, sausage, juice assortment. Will definitely stay here next time we are in Wilmington.
It's sad when room rates go up to over $300 a night. When there are cheaper hotels nearby. I stay for business purposes only. Nice place just think they shouldn't jack there prices up randomly. I was told it was supply and demand.
This Best Western is centrally located to all the beaches in the Wilmington area. We've always tried to stay here when visiting, but this last visit may be our last at this motel. The two queen size beds were very uncomfortable-too hard and very squeaky. They did give us a lot of pillows which eventually were used to try and make the bed more tolerable.
check before booking in spring and fall regarding if pool open if you like that activity. not worth $440.00 for 2 nights. breakfast same o same o. one 4 yr old very disappointed that pool not available and it was spring break.
Overall the stay was good. The breakfast in the morning was good and there was a lot of variety. The location was close to restaurants and shops. About 10 minutes away from the beach. Check in was quick and so was checkout. We had a quiet stay which we definitely appreciated. I did have a couple of issues related to having my pups with us. The first is that there is a lack of green space right around the hotel to walk the dogs. There are plenty of sidewalks and places to take them to walk, but there's a lack of quick pee green space. Also, I didn't notice until the last day, but there was a roach or ant trap that was under the AC that was definitely within access of them. If they had found it they could've had a bad time of it if they accidentally ingested that. Overall good stay, just recommend that you check your room if you're staying with pets. Happy travels!
Everything went well for us here at this Best Western. The only complaint would be that our room smelled a little bit of dog. I think a better cleaning of the carpet would have helped with this. This hotel is accommodating to dogs and they have a very nice area outside for the dogs to do their business.
We Arrived in Wilmington NC about 40 minutes early before the 3pm check in time. I asked the Desk clerk if we could check in early and was told no problem. The hotel was clean and in excellent repair and easy to find. Our room was on the 3rd floor and was freshly cleaned and ready for us. We only stayed 2 nights but enjoyed our stay very much
Was charged for the night even though I cancelled the day before I was due to arrive. I could not make the trip due to loss of job. The customer service was awful, tried speaking to the manager but the clerk relayed a message for him/her. Very unprofessional
We were in town with family for the Azalea festival. The hotel was very clean and in a great location. The hot breakfast was very good and provided a good selection for my toddler as well as me. Overall great experience.
Room and facilities were clean. Hotel conveniently located to restaurants. Breakfast was good and staff was friendly and helpful. Stayed on Sunday night, but the only problem was the very loud trash truck that arrived around 5 to 5:15am Monday morning out back and slammed down the dumpster with a loud bang.
Stayed overnight. No complaints - exactly as booked (king). Staff helpful as needed, clean, spacious room. Breakfast standard. All amenities in working order. Plenty of towels etc. Probably 15 minutes or so from beach, not what we were interested in so not positive how far.
We called the property, requesting a king bed (pet friendly). We ended up in a handicap room with two beds, next to the outside door, which was slammed shut throughout the stay. Also the "hot" breakfast consisted of eggs and corn beef hash, no bacon or sausage.
Great hotel. Clean, friendly, servive was outstanding. Close to restaurants and the downtwon area. No problems or issues and would recommend staying there. Computers available and able to print out boarding passes. Rooms are spacious and comfortable
We certainly plan to stay here again! Our room was very clean and comfortable.Hotels location was perfect. Staff was always pleasant and helpful. We truly loved the hot breakfast with its great selection and tasty food. Will tell friends and we plan to return again soon.
Stellar facility! Great staff, very comfortable accommodations, and centrally located. Price is moderate and well worth it. We stay here when visiting kids and kiddos in Wilmington. We've tried other places in the past, but nothing beats this Best Western.
We booked a group block through the hotels.com group service. Lisa was amazing in helping us find a hotel with 17 rooms at the price point we wanted and stayed in touch through the whole process of booking the rooms and making sure we had everything we needed. Nick at the hotel was flawless - very responsive, helpful and flexible as our needs changed. The hotel was clean, the breakfast was good (hot eggs, omlets, sausage and bacon) and there was a great lobby for the team to have a pizza dinner together during our stay. We would definitely stay here again in the future!
Our Soccer Team stayed here for our tournament weekend. The staff was absolutely amazing. Very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was hot. A very great experience for the whole team!
My stay exceeded expectations in all areas. Housekeepers were awesome--- even replaced towels when we hung them up (most places won't unless they are on the floor). The woman in charge of the breakfast buffet went above and beyond to make everyone's stay great. Clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Really can't find a negative thing to say about this location. Thanks for a great stay, and I will most certainly recommend you to any friends who are traveling to Wilmington. Thanks for being so accommodating to guest's needs.
A bit overpriced for the rooms. Oddly designed bathrooms. Spotty internet. Limited TV (constant "No Signal" warning). Good breakfast with western omelettes and sausage. Plenty of free coffee and tea in the lobby.
We have stayed at this Best Western several times while visiting family in Hampstead. It's a great location to visit family and to go downtown to see the sights. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is included and is fine for a chain hotel.
This is a great hotel. The room was very clean, spacious and appealing. The hotel has a very friendly, courteous, helpful staff. I enjoyed my stay very much. The breakfast was very enjoyable with plenty of choices. The atmosphere here is very friendly and everyone is approachable and knowledgeable.
CLEAN! Satisfactory bed and pillows. FRIENDLY staff. WORKING appliances in the room. Not the most attractive decor, but when you're there to see the town, the room isn't the priority. VERY GOOD BREAKFAST- simple yet satisfying. 24/7 coffee in the lobby. A better stay than the previous 2 days at a Marriott!
I stay here every time I am in Wilmington. the staff is great, the room is always clean. easy check in. the breakfast is great as well. it is also close to interstate and market street. I have stayed at this motel each trip to Wilmington for the past 5 years. it has now been remodeled and is like new.
here for two nights before hurrican matthew hit good value best western . very adequate rooms good breakfast . 5 miles out of town centre but took ubers in some had difficulty finding it as not actually on market street if going again would stay in town
This hotel was top quality in all respects. All staff were very courteous. They spoke, smiled and offered help when needed. Both the room and bathroom were clean. The breakfast area was well staffed so that tables were kept clean, food was restocked and help was available when there was a need. The breakfast menu offered a large choice of items so there was something for everyone. The location was ideal, right off the Interstate and with easy access to downtown Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach.
Staff was professional and caring. They helped calm my daughter by giving her a flash light and glow stick to help if we lost power. We did. The staff remained on duty even though their own family and property was at risk. I really appreciated that. The place was spotless and the staff was awesome. If they can do this well during a hurricane imagine how well they can do on a normal day.
This was a last minute trip to visit a sick relative. So we did not have time to really use the hotel amenities. The staff was excellent during the check-in, out process; breakfast was great - would have liked some oatmeal; great location to family and restaurants; beds comfortable.
Ordinary middle-of-the-road accommodation--clean room (except for moldy grout in bathtub); acceptable breakfast snacks; convenient parking. The exceptional thing here is the employees--especially Doris, Holly, Corey, and Tobias, who all deserve a bonus and a raise. Doris especially: I was trying to get some hot water for tea but the dispenser was almost empty; Doris stepped right up and took me to the kitchen for a cup of hot water from their supply.
Friendly, CLEAN and safe. They offered gluten free, dairy free selections at breakfast. It was a safe area and we walked a short distance for supper. This was our fourth hotel in seven nights and was so far above the rest!!!
On check-in, I asked the front desk clerk if another member of my group had checked in. She stated that she couldn't disclose that and said further that if I wished to be connected to another guest in the hotel, I would have to give the room number as well as the name of the guest. (This is an impossible problem if I were trying to check if another member had arrived.) I have never experienced that ridiculous situation anywhere else in the world.
Hotel was as described. I felt safe and comfortable here. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good hot water in shower. Easy access to main roads and local amenities. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.
No complaints at all....midrange hotel. Clean and good location on Market St. About 5 miles from downtown, but only about 5 miles from Wrightsville Beach. Check in lady was a bit snippy. We had used points for two of our rooms and she initially did not see that in her reservation, and was not sympathetic.
We had another hotel in the area booked for two night but when we arrived we simply could not stay. So needless to say, when we arrived at the Best Western on Market street and was greeted by Tobias we were delighted. Tobias made every effort to accommodate us and look after all our inquiries. He got us settled in so well that we decided to stay for a second night. Many thanks. Our rooms were lovely, the service was bar none and a great rest was had by all. Many many thanks to Tobais. We did not travel with children and we arrived in our own transportation.
And right near the university. Ideally located, friendly knowledgeable staff. Clean, comfortable rooms. Sweetest ladies run the breakfast, which features eggs, bacon or sausage, waffles, bagels, fresh fruit, coffee, etc. Really good value and good people.
This hotel made our trip to Wrightsville beach even greater! The rates are amazing, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean, the staff was fabulous, the breakfast was yummy, and the pool was relaxing. Will definitely return with my family if we visit Wrightsville beach again!
I was very pleased with my stay at Best Western Plus. The facility was in a great location and convenient to main roads, dining, and shopping. This was my first time staying at a Best Western facility. I stayed at the Wilmington, NC hotel. It was perfect for my short stay. Clean rooms, inviting lobby, free hot breakfast and reasonable costs made this a worthwhile experience. I would definitely stay there again.
This hotel was very convenient to any place you want to go in the Wilmington, Wrightsville beach area, and only a 20 min ride to the South Beach area. This would include beach goers, and NCS University travelers. The room was very adequate, clean, and had a good size refrigerator. Even though it is located right next to a busy street (Market Street) and also the overpass, There was no noise to disturb us. There was a nice pool and a good breakfast came with the room. For a last minute trip, in the summertime busy season, the price was very reasonable.
We were very pleased that the Best Western accommodated the elderly relatives in our party by giving us a room on the first floor next to an outside exit. It made it so much easier to get in and out, especially when those relatives have trouble walking any distance and we were carrying their suitcases in addition to our own. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast buffet was delicious! I would definitely stay here again.
This BW motel is indeed a plus motel. When I first looked out my window and saw I was on the highway side I thought I was in for a poor night's sleep. That highway stays extremely busy day and night. However I noticed I did not hear the noise and that night I was not bothered by any noise and I am a light sleeper. The breakfast menu is above average and was very good. The staff at the counter were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and if in town again would definitely stay here at this strategic location for visiting the area.
We stayed here for a one tree hill convention in July 2016 in a group of 3. Two queen beds were perfect for us! Nice sized bathroom, pool was fine, free breakfast was great, fresh cookies at desk, game night was cute for families, and the location to downtown Wilmington and the beach were both fabulous! Ubering cost only about $6-$8 a trip! If we ever go back, we are staying here! Room and hotel very clean.
Very nice stay with Great Customer Service!!!!!!!! The Staff was extremely courteous and the room was very clean. Good location with easy access. Good amenities with comfortable bed and good breakfast
My husband and I stayed here for 5 days in July and found it to be a good, clean hotel at a decent rate in the center of Wilmington. All the attractions, including downtown, are a 10 minute Uber ride away. The pool is open pretty late but is not as large as it looks in the online pictures and is situated in such a way that it is mostly in the shade throughout the day. I would skip the continental breakfast which was the worst I've ever had! If you are looking for a resort experience then skip it. There is no bar or food by the pool like you have at a resort. This is a place to relax, swim and sleep. For the price and location it is totally worth it for the frugal traveler not concerned with extensive luxury.
Very nice room!...Staff very friendly and accommodating during stay. Breakfast good and hot! Pool clean and ready to swim in. Bathroom clean on arrival (very important to me)..pillows fresh and ready!..I would definitely recommend this hotel!!
I booked our room via phone through Best Western. I wanted a handicapped room. When we checked in, they did not have that on the reservation. But they were able to accommodate us. That was the one glitch to our stay. The place was clean, staff friendly, and breakfast varies from day to day which is a nice feature.
I stay at Best Westerns often, and this is one of the nicer ones. The location is convenient to most things in the area. The lobby and breakfast area are quite nice and larger than most. The rooms look like they have been done pretty recently and Best Westerns are almost always very clean.
First time traveling with our dog, was very accommodating. The nice lady at the front desk gave our dog a bunch of treats. Our room was clean and the ac was nice an cool. Easy drive to Carolina beach!!! Shopping and food in the near by area. I would stay here again!
Nice and clean. AWESOME friendly staff. Great breakfast and the pool was nice and refreshing. Little dated but a nice hotel. Good convenient location. Free wi-fi was fast and kept the kids happy. Would stay again
My wife and I have stayed at a few of the 2-3 star hotels along Market Street. This is the best one out of the bunch. Good breakfast and a nice room. Nothing spectacular but they do a good job with everything.
Would stay at this hotel again, the breakfast was good. Location is great- close to downtown, beaches, shopping. We were in town for OTH Convention, saw other fans staying at hotel. I liked the breakfast selection.
I felt very comfortable, safe and relaxed during my stay. Best beds ever. Staff is beyond great, friendly and helpful. They aim to please and we were absolutely thrilled with our stay at this Best Western. Great variety for breakfast and plenty to choose from. If you left hungry that was your fault. We felt so at home that it made it that much harder to leave. Great location. I will definitely be back!!
Had the pleasure of staying at the Best Western Plus during a recent job interview. Not much to say that is negative about this place other than my stay was too short. I found the Inn clean, providing excellent service, comfortable spacious rooms, and a decent breakfast bar selection. They even make fresh cookies to pass out for free. Though not in walking distance to the beach, it is centrally located so you can easily drive to the highlights of Wilmington. I will say that their exercise room was just satisfactory. Then again, I did not come there to work out.
This hotel is conveniently located. We were here to visit UNCW and Wrightsville Beach. It is centrally located and near plenty of restaurants. The room was clean. Staff was friendly. Pool was nice. Coffee was always fresh and hot in the lobby. My kids enjoyed the fresh baked cookies both nights. I would have given a five rating if only they would've offered scrambled eggs on the breakfast bar. Too many carbs and not enough protein options. Other than that, it was a good stay.
Our room had 2 queen beds with pillow tops. The mattress was a little soft for me, but might work well for someone else. Though the hotel was busy, I noticed the noise in the hallway was very minor. The breakfast bar was great, with waffles, eggs, some type of meat, and a variety of juices, yogurt, and breads. The staff at the desk, as well as the breakfast workers and cleaning crew, were all friendly and helpful. This is a great place to stay!
I stayed at this hotel for two nights while in town for business. The hotel was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. It is also located in a great location.
Another great stay at this hotel. Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast, and clean room. Love that they have queen size beds. The location is close to Wrightsville Beach and Carolina Beach .Check in and out was easy.
This is my second stay here. There were not problems the first time. I won't be coming there again. Maybe people don't notice the little critters running around looking for liquid to fall into. But when i woke up and started to take a big drink of iced cold water I was so so disgusted by these bugs i saw floating in the cup.
Outstanding personnel, eager to offer excellent service. Very clean, modern and no issues at all. Will recommend this hotel to friends and family. Location is good, breakfast was acceptable in a very clean eating area. We will stay here again on our next tyrip to Wilmington, NC
A clean, well serviced base for our overnight stay. The rooms were spacious with all the usual amenities and large comfortable beds. Breakfast was the usual self service buffet, adequate rather than exciting. Located close to the main road making it a convenient place to stay whilst travelling.
This hotel was very nice. For the price and purpose, it was definitely a great stay. Close to beach and lots of places to eat. Staff very friendly. The breakfast was very good. .. my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay and will definitely be back. The decor of the room is beautiful. .... The only issue was the icemaker on the 4th floor was not working. I had to go to the first floor for ice... I hope it's working on my next stay.
Our room was clean. Housekeeping cleaned the room daily and replaced the towels. Breakfast was great. Two staff members worked the breakfast room every day and kept it spotless. The breakfast was wonderful. Bacon or sausage was served.
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for our vacation. All the staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and seemed new. The hotel has nice amenities as well. Free breakfast was nice with bagels, eggs, bacon or sausage, waffles and cereal. We loved our stay here, and I would absolutely stay here again!
Not my first stay, but certainly the best during a hot spell of weather where everyone was wilting from the heat outside, but the great staff at the hotel kept us all cool and entertained. Great pool and convenient IHOP next door and maybe 50 restaurants within a ten minute walk.
For several years, I have enjoyed staying in the Best Western Plus University Inn , of Wilmington, North Carolina. I t has been a home away from home. I know most of the staff and have found them to be very professional, friendly and helpful. I know the Wilmington Community and I travel to Wilmington frequently mostly for business matters. However, some of my visits are for family activities. It is always great to be able to stay in a clean and safe environment. I have found the Best Western properties to fit my life style. Further, the managing staff, try not making hotel registration difficult. Many thanks.
Room was fine, breakfast was good, pool kinda dirty at times. Ice maker on our floor was broken entire 4 day stay. Customer Service lacking: Booked thru Expedia and when I saw the rate went down, re-booked at lower rate, then cancelled original. At check in, Francesca insisted we had no reservation. When I gave her the new reservation number and explained how I booked, cancelled and re-booked, she said "oh, there it is". Of course at check-out she charged me higher rate which she claimed she had no control over - "it's whatever comes thru from Expedia" and refused to honor lower rate, leaving me to go thru Expedia.
the hotel is clean and convenient. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Perfect except I wish they had healthier options for breakfast - for example whole grains, low sugar yogurt, more fresh fruit. Brought my little dog the time before and it was great if you want to bring your dog. Will always stay there in Wilmington.
Came with my daughter for orientation for UNCW...so close to the university, but also convenient to Wrightsville Beach and Downtown Wilmington. Quiet, clean, friendly staff, comfortable beds! Will definitely return!
Stayed for 3 nights to attend UNCW orientation. We also spent a little time at the beach and downtown. The location was perfect for all of our activities. We could not have asked for more from a hotel at this price level - it was a great value.
Our stay was for enjoying the beach...we went on Friday to the beach and had a wonderful day...after coming back to the hotel and preparing to go out for supper we received an emergency phone call about our best friend being involved in a motorcycle accident...airlifted to hospital...we decided to leave at 7 PM...asked for a refund or possibly another nights stay in the future...but NO was the answer...that is all I need to say...will never stay at another BW during my Life...
Happy with stay overall. Non-smoking hotel, but someone was smoking in the hall (or nearby room) at 4 a.m. A bit noisy the first night but the other 2 were quiet. Good mattresss. Decent breakfast variety. Appreciated the cranberries, brown sugar, and walnuts to add to the oatmeal.
We visit this area often, this was our first stay at this hotel. This hotel is clean, comfortable, and a good value for your money. Good location, very near UNCW, short distance to downtown and the beaches. It sits at a busy intersection but it's easily accessible and noise was not a problem. There are several restaurants and stores in the immediate area. Our room was small but adequate. The biggest plus was the bed. It was comfortable and there were plenty of fluffy, comfortable pillows. The breakfast is typical hotel fare. There is also an IHOP right next door.
My wife and I had a good stay. Room was clean and the staff was friendly. There seemed to be very few people there until Saturday. There were some noisy children in the pool, but I think it closes at 10, so the noise level dropped to nothing by the time we were going to bed. Bring an extra blanket if you like the room cool. Overall, the stay was great. Close proximity to a lot of stuff.
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Great location to stores, restaurants and bars. I do feel that they could improve service by providing their service staff with their own elevator. I would recommend this hotel to family and friend traveling to this area.
This hotel met our expectations for the price. The room was extremely clean, everything in good working order and the bed was comfortable. The pillows were fantastic. There was a good variety of items at breakfast and we were not disappointed with any of the food we chose. Overall we had a great experience.
The Best Western University (behind the IHOP) was an excellent choice for us. The hotel is very well-kept and modern. Wonderful staff and room was great. Very clean and gave us a military discount. Can't say enough good about this hotel. Super breakfast, nice pool, great lobby area, well-located. Highly recommend.
Experienced ants in one room and was moved to another, odor in the other. No vent systems in bathroom. Room was full or order due to no vent. Pool is so small, I didn't see anyone using it the entire stay. OH, if you use UBER, call and tell the driver your location. GPS gets them lost.
I stayed here while looking for a place to live in Wilmington. The hotel is off of an incredibly busy street (market), yet is centrally located. You can go directly to the beach or to downtown. I would suggest using Uber for either trip as parking is tricky. Hotel was good overall. Nice spread for the breakfast, and the pool is good to have on stand by as it is very hot here. Staff was also friendly and the maids did an excellent job cleaning our room. I'd stay here again.
Clean, comfortable rooms. Courteous staff. Breakfast buffet had a lot of good choices. Coffee available all day. Comfortable lobby with a business center. Workout room with updated equipment available. Safe environment. I'd definitely stay here again.
I have stayed at this particular hotel 3 times so far on business and have been very satisfied with both the rooms and the services. I especially enjoy the full, hot breakfast available every morning.
We came from a HORRIBLE place (4 day reservation - left after first night); we came here; the personnel were SPECTACULAR; friendly, accommodating; we were able to leave our luggage before check-in time; they gave us directions, tips. The amenities were fine, FREE COFFEE, TEA 24/7 - nice breakfast presentation. The rooms were very nicely done, very clean. Particularly, NICK NICHOLAS and FRANCESCA were sooo helpful (not that others weren't; these were the people we dealt with) friendly; made our stay EXTREMELY enjoyable, so why would I look to stay elsewhere?
Service and attention was lacking from the get go. Walked in and it seemed like they thought they were doing me a favor by checking me in. Get to my floor and am immediately met by a wet musty smell in the hallway. Same smell in the room but it quickly disappeared. Check out was very similar to check in. Like they thought they were doing me a favor. Not sure what justified the price of over $225 for the night for the room, but it was convenient to the airport and to dinner and it saved me a two hour drive at 5:00 am
Overall good stay. I wish they had a fan in the bathroom, and the internet was not good. The hotel staff was helpful, and the room was comfortable especially for the price. The location was outstanding, as we were near many restaurants, and downtown which is beautiful in Wilmington!
We booked a "handicapped room" for two nights, but experienced a nightmare when we found instead of a walk-in shower with seating, we got a room with a bathtub and handicapped handles all around. It is NOT the same for a person with Parkinson's.
Do you want to feel comfortable, in your room or the hotel where you're at? Do you want the food to actually taste like a hardy breakfast? The rooms and the hotel always clean and presentable. and the staff always professional. You're in the area of shops, restaurants other entertainments. If you are there on business or pleasure, let the comfort be your first priority at this location.
We have been staying at this hotel for the past 4 years on numerous occasions. The staff is exceptional and the rooms very comfortable. they were always very helpful with any need that would arise. We would highly recommend this hotel if you are going to Wilmington, NC
The hotel was clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was close to shopping, beaches, restaurants. Complimentary breakfast was very nice. (A shout out to Doris, who is in charge of the breakfast. She goes above and beyond). Only reason for 4 starts instead of 5 was there were very unruly people late at night and nothing was done. (midnight). No did not call down because they were screaming and could be heard by the desk.)
Was more than pleased with everything from room, comfort of bed, space, breakfast and location. a large family that needed many rooms and all were excellent.pool small and not open but still pretty plants and other outdoor area to enjoy.
This is a clean and quiet hotel. It is conveniently located between downtown Willmington and Wrightsville Beach. There are numerous chain restaraunts around and a Wal-Mart across the street. I wouldn't get excited about the pool. It was closed while we were there, but it is also located behind the hotel, so it is in complete shade by 12pm so you can't even enjoy laying out.
This is a great place to stay, it is in a good location close to great restaurants and very quiet. The breakfast is also very good and the staff are always refilling items. The rooms are clean and they have regular sheets and blankets, we hate duvets. Great place!
We booked 3 rooms for UNCW's spring graduation. The rooms were great: clean, comfortable and spacious. The breakfast in the mornings exceeded expectations and the motel is very close to the campus. I would recommend this to anyone needing graduation accommodations - but be sure to book early. We booked 3 months in advance and they were almost full then.
The hotel is close to a freeway exit and easy to find. Downtown is just straight down Market St. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable and there was a refrigerator. The breakfast was a standard continental breakfast but for the first time, staying in. B&W, there were no eggs or sausages, just the usual cereal, bagels, toast, waffles, fruit and yogurt. The staff were friendly and efficient. I would stay there again.
Stayed 2 nights in room 407. Very nice, very clean room. Slept very well. Friendly staff. The breakfast was great both mornings We had different kind of eggs both mornings. The lady was very pleasant and organized. Some guys had their truck broken into one night and all of their tools got stolen. That was not a good thing, especially since there are cameras on premises.
May 5th was my 65th birthday. I decided to head out of town (Raleigh) to celebrate. Decided to head to Wilmington and stay overnight and check out Riverwalk. It was unfortunate that I had to change rooms at 1:00 a.m. in the morning due to very large roaches or waterbugs. (Room 127). It wasn't the way I wanted to start my transition into being an official senior citizen. The weather didn't help anything and while I headed to Riverwalk, I ended up not really finding it and turned around and came home through torrential rains back to Raleigh. Unfortunately, not a great birthday.
I stayed here wit ha friend and we were pleasantly surprised with how nice this was. Our rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Toiletries were included, as well as hair dryer, ironing board and small refrigerator. The hotel has an elevator which is excellent if you have mobility issues. The continental breakfast was more like a complete breakfast for me. There were scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, toast, bagels, muffins, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea, and more. The ladies who took care of this were very pleasant and kept thee breakfast items replenished and clean. The was also complimentary coffee and tea all day. We stopped here on our way to Carolina Beach. I recommend this hotel highly.
This is a clean comfortable hotel. It is close to the ILM airport. However, even on a weekday, breakfast didn't start until 6 a.m. And there were no newspapers when we left for the airport at 5:45 a.m.. Rather than serve breakfast from 6-10 a.m. on weekdays, they need to serve from 5-9. It would make a lot more sense for business customers and those with early flights. We won't stay here again, unless the breakfast hours are changed.
The purpose of our trip was for a family visit so we were not looking for a vacation spot, just a nice place to stay for the weekend. The hotel, room and amenities were a pleasant surprise. The location was nice, safe and very convenient to our local travels. When we arrived, we looked at each other and said "wow" this is nice. So short and sweet, "Highly Recommended" and while your there, you have to eat at Hieronymus Seafood, that was the best seafood place I have been in years!!!
I'll start by saying that I am a female solo traveller, and I didn't have a car when I went to Wilmington. My life would have been a a bit easier with a car, but the bus services were not too awful! Bus stops are extremely close to the hotel (one is opposite the hotel!). It's not a hugely desirable area to walk alone in at night, but I never actually had any trouble. The hotel rooms are large and quiet, although you can hear hallway noise if someone is walking by. Sadly the pool was closed while I was there, as I would have liked to sit outside in the sun. However, there were quite a few drivers sat in their cars at the back of the hotel next to the pool. So it might have been a bit awkward..! There's a fridge, microwave and desk in the room, and a very spacious bathroom. The water pressure in the shower was brilliant! It's a 5-10 minute walk to a huge Wallmart, and a little further in another direction for a Target. To get to Wallmart you have to walk across the 4 lane each way main road with no pedestrian crossing - it looks daunting but was surprisingly ok, even at busy times. Wilmington is one of the kindest towns I have been to, full of extremely lovely people. Even just shopping in Independence Mall, people would stop and have a chat with you. I should mention as well that main town by the river is absolutely beautiful and worth visiting Wilmington alone for (go to the Hollywood tour if you're a film / TV fan!). What really made the hotel stand out was the amazing customer service, though. My stay was made so much better by the service I received from the front desk staff member Tobias. He welcomed me on my first day and provided the quickest and easiest check in I have ever had. Next day I was a bit confused with the bus services and asked a girl on the desk if she knew how to navigate them. She didn't know so was looking it up - Tobias came over and printed off a time table for my return journey, told me when my next bus was and also circled a map so I would know what stop to use on the way home. He also gave me directions to local supermarkets and checked with me to see how my day was when I returned. He really went above and beyond to be welcoming! Thank you!
Best Western offers a good breakfast at many of it's properties. This is an especially well run and clean hotel. But the thing that really set it off for me was the quality of the lady that was running the breakfast area. She is person that takes her job seriously. She was very helpful and courteous. Well Done! Thanks.
Hotel was great. Not far from the beach. Great area. Walmart near by, and also restaurants. Just a 7 minute drive to the wedding at Wrightsville Beach. Breakfast was good, with plenty to choose from. Coffee, hot tea in the lobby all ready to go.
Nice basic hotel with comfortable beds and lovely hot water, pity no bath robes available , but hey ho, staff all seemed pleasant, nice breakfast included in the price we had , ( loved the omelettes! ) situated out of Wilmington a fair way, but the buses easy enough to use into town, so that's what we did. I don't advise walking as Wilmington seriously lacks Zebra crossings!
Great location with easy access to downtown Wilmington without the downtown prices. Restaurants were either within walking distance or a short drive away (5 min). Everything was clean and tidy from the outside of the building to the inside.
Came for a weekend visit to see my daughter at UNCW. This was a great location near campus and was convenient to downtown where there are many things to do. Will definitely stay here again. It was a little pricey, but I think worth it. The staff was great and breakfast a big plus!
We always/more often stay at Best Western. And this hotel is one of the best. Very close proximity to Costco(walking distance) and to the beach. The lobby staff were friendly and accommodating. The kitchen/dining crew were excellent. Everybody has the Southern hospitality. There were also cookies at the lobby and free coffee/ tea 24 hrs. I will surely come back here.
GREAT accommodations and centrally located to all practical locations! Breakfast was the best, as Grazia kept items filled and the area spotless. Rooms were tidy with all amenities. Doris was always available and very helpful! THANKS for the hospitable stay, as we would return!
Hotel is very nice, clean, comfortable, nice breakfast and free newspaper in a good location. The staff is friendly and accommodating. My wife and I had a king size room with several pillows to choose from. Microwave and refrigerator was also included
Clean room and lobby very attentive staff, good breakfast, great location close to shopping and all types of restaurants, beach a little far but close enough. IHOP next door walking distance if you prefer that over the free breakfast. Plenty of free parking, pet friendly, would stay there again.
Just spent one night, but close to beaches and dining places. Easy to find. This is also close to downtown if you want to walk along the river. For anyone who has a child in college here, this would be an ideal place to stay while visiting.
The location was idea to where we needed to be. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was good. The hotel was near shopping, eating and the beaches. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. I would recommend this property to anyone.
This was the second Best Western Plus we stay at within 10 days on our tour of colleges. Both Best Westerns were nice and comfortable and employed friendly staff. It seemed as if both had been recently updated and the decor was very becoming with this Best Western being well lit and bright. Whether more tour of colleges are in our future or not, I will definitely consider Best Western Plus for my next hotel stay. .
The hotel was great and met my expectations thanks to the other reviews on tripadvisor. The room and hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. Checking in & out was fast and easy. The location was great since it was right at a traffic light so getting on the main road was a breeze.
Great price. It was nice to have a standard room that offered queen beds. The staff were friendly. Check in and out were easy. The free breakfast was nice. The lady in charge of the breakfast area kept the food stocked and the the area was kept clean. She was very nice.
This is our 3rd time to stay here and we were just as satisfied as the 1st time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great even though the hotel was full for the holiday weekend. No problem with having plenty of food. This hotel is very family friendly.
This is a good place to stay. Central location, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, near the University. They allowed me to cancel the last day due to ned to leave ahead of bad weather. Better for under $90 per night if possible.
disappointed that after personally requesting 2 extra towels and then also waiting after not receiving them, calling the front desk and requested the towels again and still never got the towels. Overall waited over an hour.
A nice, clean hotel. Several nice places to eat . Nick at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. It was also located in a nice safe area. I would stay here again next time we are in the area. Close to the beach as well as close to the down town area.
I was in town for the marathon. The staff at this Best Western was very helpful. They had grab and go bags of a muffin, fruit, and water for the early rising runners. They offered an hour later check out and were helpful in offering quick directions. They even went a little beyond when I forgot my USB power adapter. The on duty receptionist lent me his! I was very pleased with the room in general too.
It could have been fresher and littler nicer. There was an odor in the room that bothered us. but wasn't terrible. First room smelled of stale smoke and 2nd room unfresh. staff was nice and breakfast was pretty good
This hotel passed my expectation. Room was clean, staff was beyond excellent. The hotel was in immaculate condition. Bed was comfortable. A wonderful stay from home. I would definitely stay here again.
I won a bid for this hotel and I wasn't disappointed. The room was very clean, as was the whole hotel. The breakfast area was staffed by Gracia and Doris, who did a spectacular job of keeping it full and clean. Colette was very sweet as she checked me in and again when I called downstairs after check-in. Nothing bad to say about this hotel.
Clean, comfortable, great breakfast choices, convenient to beach and downtown. Has nearby restaurants choices and shopping. Front desk very helpful with Best Western points and offered help in redeeming points at a later time.
Front desk customer service was beyond excellent. We only stayed one night but by then I felt like we were old friends. Our room was updated and clean, and the dining area very appealing, offering a great variety. Breakfast attendant was on top of everything. Location was very convenient and whatever we asked about we got good information.
We were picking up our granddaughter at UNC Wilmington. We stayed at the Best Western. it is right off the highway. Easy parking close to restaurants. Clean room nice fitness center. The breakfast is perfect. The coffee is also quite good. The staff are all very friendly. A low cost place to stay, safe, clean and just nice.
If you're looking for a safe, clean, quiet place to sleep under $100 a night, this is a great place to stay. The staff was extremely friendly & helpful. I had an issue & they fixed the problem right away. The premises are clean and located in a great area (close to shopping centers, restaurants, etc.). No problems with this place.
As a competitor in dog sports I travel with my dogs all of the time... It can be a challenge to find a CLEAN and FRIENDLY hotel that accepts dogs. NBot only does this hotel accept dogs, they WELCOME them. A small airing yard with pick up bags on sire, well lit, and there is a Costco next door with AMPLE night lighting along a sidewalk for dog walking outside of the hotel. In addition the room was CLEAN! Great water pressure in shower, decent hot breakfast and they take their NO SMOKING policy very strictly which is a "breath of FRESH air" !!!!
I have been staying at this hotel 1-2 nights a week, every week, for the past couple of months. Although it is higher than some of the comparable hotels in the area I stay here because they work with my check in request. However, the last two weeks I have had the same issue- banging, doors slamming, knocking on doors in the middle of the night. Lots of RUCKUS while I'm trying to rest. Last week they moved me and apologized explaining that there was a large group from the same company taking up the second floor. I made sure to mention this at check-in prior to this stay and was assured I would have a quiet stay. Not a chance. The banging, door slamming started up again this stay at 9pm. So I called down to the clerk who was quite nasty to me. The banging and noise continued. There is no way I should have this problem when I'm paying $80 a pop to spend a few hours at your hotel. If you cannot ensure a quiet nights sleep, I will find another hotel to give my regular business to. There are sooooo many to choose from.
The only negative on this hotel...it did not have suites. But the room had a nice chair and desk with an office chair. Beds are okay, I tend to like them softer, but it wasn't bad or too hard. The breakfast was limited, but no one will go hungry. Over all, a nice place to stay.
Recently spent 2 weeks in the Best Western. Despite the unfortunate circumstance that brought me to town, the stay was great. Cory, at the front desk, was great, answered all my questions and helped with everything I needed. Felicia, our housekeeper, was very accommodating to my obsessively clean wife. Gracia did a outstanding job with breakfast. She was always cleaning or restocking something, I never saw her stop moving. The hot part of the breakfast rotates between bacon, sausage, or gravy paired with scrambled eggs, cheese omelet, western omelet, or biscuits. You can also make a waffle or get a large variety of other muffins, breads, cereals, oatmeal, and yogurts. The free WiFi was great too, no problems connecting and speed was fast. The breakfast combined with the updated and clean rooms made the little extra price over the choices down the street well worth the stay here. We will definitely stay here the next time we come to Wilmington.
I was told there were no discounts available although the website states 10% discounts for AA and AARP. Standing at front desk I was then quoted a price per night that was $10 more than online price. Told to register online if I wanted the lesser price. Went back outside to car and completed registration online in the dark and cold of night. Prices this time of year are very competitive and there are many, many, many places to stay in this area. Go someplace else where they appreciate and really WANT your business/
We have stayed here twice and will stay here again. Front desk was very helpful and help us bring our luggage during a rain storm. The rooms are a good size with comfy beds and a nice size bathroom with granite counter tops. Breakfast was continental breakfast with two hot options daily.
Love the staff the nice rooms this is a great hotel I will always stay here when I come to Wilmington, NC. I've stayed at a couple of hotels in the area but this one so far has been the best and very very clean.
Pretty nice room. Kind of small, but it was ok. Didn't really get a chance to enjoy it because I was there on business. I had just enough time to check in, handle my business outside of the hotel, come back, go to sleep, wake up, eat breakfast, and leave. But all in all, everything was cool. Not a bad stay at all.
this was the tenth time that we had stayed at a best western property in the last six months and as with all of the previous stays we found that everything was as we expected and as always it was a pleasure to stay at a best western property
Many items in the room were not functional - such as toilet and shower head. Someone on our floor was smoking one morning -so strong we ended up leaving with headaches. Managers were never available to speak to. Bed was hard as a rock.
The customer service at this hotel was excellent. Place was clean but needs upgrading of carpeting in rooms very badly. Breakfast was good and varied from day to day. Was pleased with the heating and enjoyed the fact it didn't make too much noise.
I stayed at this Best Western for a mini getaway. The top floor is the most renovated. The room and bathroom were very clean. The staff were very professional and polite. I really enjoyed my stay here. Shopping centers and the beach are no more than 15 minutes away from the hotel, if that. I will definitely stay here again.
A few years ago my wife and I stumbled across the Best Western inns. We truly enjoyed it. This year on a college visit trip, we booked with them in Wilmington, NC. We arrived and we're greeted by Kory. He was fantastic, especially when our money card didn't work. He told us it was probably because we were traveling, and he was right. For the rest of that night to the next, the staff was kind and helpful. Their breakfast, although not a 5 star, was very good (I actually got sausage and biscuits). The room was clean and comfortable. In the hallways there was a musty odor, but not in the rooms. I want to thank Best Western for a wonderful stay.
Highly recommend this Best Western when in the Wilmington, NC area. Near to UNC Wilmington and numerous restaurants and shopping opportunities. All of the staff that we encountered we very helpful and friendly. The only thing that I could complain about is the east side of the hotel faces one of the major roads. The traffic was not a problem, but the occasional fire, rescue or other emergency vehicle with it's siren turned on could be annoying. If staying I would recommend asking for a lobby side room, which should be a room number ending with an even number.
We stopped here the other night on our way to South Carolina. The woman at check in was very nice. Place looks freshly renovated. Nice location as well. This place was right off the interstate, and restaurants were all around. I would definitely come back next trip!
Here on business but the room was clean and nice. Ihop was too the right and Costco was on the other side. Breakfast is at the hotel and it was ok. Internet was free and I had to do business stuff so that worked for me. I already booked my next stay for business there.
Hotel was clean, but had musty odor. Beautiful lobby. Below average breakfast. The room and decor were a bit outdated and the room was a bit small for a family of 4. Close to shopping, etc. Customer service good.
There are so many dining choices within 1 mile. The Parking was very easy and safe. This is a great place to stay when visiting Wilmington because it is close to the historical district and the Cape Fear riverfront.
Stayed for one night Sept 26th for a wedding. Very friendly front desk during check in/check out. Well lit during the night. Good clean room with big bathroom. Nice selection for breakfast. Bagels, muffins, omelettes, sausage, milk, juices, coffee, tea. Standard fare but well worth not having to pay for breakfast for a day or two. Will definitely be back to stay.
Very nice hotel. The staff was friendly. Comfortable beds, decent breakfast with cheese omelets, bacon and waffles. Nice Decor. If you find a good deal call hotel directly and they will match. Pet friendly hotel.
Went for the Beach 2 Battleship Triathlon. Staff was fantastic. Great central location. Nice selection of items for breakfast. Lots of dining options. Close to Costco and a nearby Post Office. A really super weekend at a super place.
This is in a great location, very clean lobby and guest rooms. All staff were very helpful especially Tobias. We needed a wheelchair accessible room, but you cannot maneuver a wheel chair in this "accessible" rooms. Although the entrance to the bathroom was wide enough to accommodate a wheel chair; the remainder of the room entrance and bottom of the room was not wide enough for a wheel chair. There were five grab bars in the tub (not a walk in) only one near the toilet. The entrance from the hallway was also very awkward to maneuver. I'm pretty sure it doesn't meet ADA requirements. This is the only reason I would not stay at this hotel again.
Excellent hotel and location for anyone looking for a nice place to stay while doing the Beach to Battleship Tri. In the middle of the start and finish line of the race. Nice area near many businesses and resturants.
Excellent room and good breakfast with good value. Unfortunately, our room was not cleaned within a timely manner. We left early but returned at 2:30 to dress for a wedding. Left at 3:30 and no one came in to clean the room.
I base much of my reviews on the cleanliness of the bathroom. This one was SPOTLESS! Cleanest shower/bathtub I've ever seen and I've been to quite a few. I actually asked the owner(I believe she was the owner) how they get them so clean. She just smiled and said she was happy I was so pleased. We stayed at various other hotels due to the different areas we were traveling to, and this on was the cleanest. They also have an indoor pool and a very nice restaurant across the parking lot. It was nice to have dinner and a couple of drinks and walk back to the room. They offer a free breakfast however we ate at ihop instead.
When i was first planning our trip back in may, there was so many choices of hotels. But we are very happy with our choice to stay here. The breakfast was amazing, staff is so nice and very helpful. Even let us check in early. I have no complaints what so ever. And when we come back down next year we are definitely staying here again.
With many choices of lodging in Wilmington, we were extremely pleased with our stay. Room was clean, staff helpful and friendly. Casual area in lobby very comfortable. The eat in spot roomy and breakfast was not fancy but plentiful. Attentive staff. Price is very reasonable. If I had any complaint, it would be the bathroom fan...hardly comes on... Thanks for a great stay!
This hotel was totally worth the price we paid! The breakfast was great and the rooms were nice! There's a nice lady who keeps up with the breakfast bar like no other hotel I've been to! The hotel was very clean and the staff were nice enough. The hotel worked with us on canceling some of our days do to the incoming hurricane and didn't give us any grief over it. My biggest complaint would be the hotel doesn't have central AC so sometimes it can be a little musty and the pool was already closed. :( But over all I was very happy with my stay!!
Hotel is very convenient to I-40, UNCW, downtown and Wrightsville Beach. Room was clean and quiet, beds were comfortable and the breakfast satisfying. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, too. It's right next door to IHOP and several restaurants are within an easy drive (less than 0.5 mile).
When I travel I only stay at Best Western Hotels because they are always the most friendly, cleanest, and most comfortable. I love the Best Western Plus University Inn because it is so convenient to everything in the area, including the beaches. My Son and grandchildren also live in the area and my grand daughters love to come stay with me when I am there. It is quite an adventure for them.
Loved how nice the woman at the front desk was! Checking in and out was so fast and efficient. The room was very clean and super comfortable! I would definitely come back to stay! The breakfast could have had a few more options was it was still good.
My wife and I stayed two nights at the Best Western Plus in Wilmington, NC and we were impressed very favorably by the quality of the physical facilities, the services provided, and the personnel. They provided the best complimentary breakfast we have found anywhere and a full coffee bar was available 24 hours a day. The room was one of the cleanest we have ever stayed in. Maybe the cleanest. All the staff people we talked to were very relaxed and helpful. A few times I had to depress the notion that they were family. We liked everything there and hope to stay there again.
