Dirty, noisy, unmaintained! Could use a heavy cleaning, paint, maintenance, customer service training and a lot of curb appeal. Only came back to give them another chance and because I'm a reward member….worst decision on my part! Paid more money for a suite on the third floor to get some sleep and all we got was a barking dog on the floor!!!
Traveling with pets. Great green space to potty dogs. Had an elevator, king separate bedroom suite was very spacious. The only issue is that the air conditioner is only in the living area and nit in the bedroom, so it gets warm at night. Wonderful breakfast options
The hotel needs major updates. Paint is missing from almost every door. The room and the sheets smelled. The pool was nice as well as the breakfast. It was an inconvenience that the hotel keys would stop working and we would have to go to the front desk to get our key card working again.
We were passing through the area and decided at the last minute to stay overnight in the Wausau area. Based on other reviews, we booked at the Best Western Plus and so glad we did. The stay was superb! The room was big, clean, and comfortable. Nice bed and great linens, a good shower, good TV channel selection, microwave, fridge, and more. The breakfast was fabulous, including real bacon and many other selections. Best of all, the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful (the owner's daughter was particularly helpful to us when we needed to contact our credit card company to resolve an issue). We hope we have reason to be in the Wausau area again so we can stay in this wonderful hotel!
We have stayed at this BW a number of times in the past. Now, the new co-managers, Jay and Dottie, are making great strides in all the improvements they have made so far. The outside area is much more attractive, especially the area around the flag pole with better lighting and the water display. (We got a kick out of the 5 little rubber duckies all lined up). The rooms are very clean and the beds very comfortable. This location is off the main highway so is quiet. Management is very friendly and makes us feel right at home. The breakfast here is one of the best, if not the very besl in all but one of the many hotels we have stayed. And that's quite a few! We highly recommend staying at this BW the next time you are in the area. We look forward to being back in September, October and November! This is by far "THE GEM OFF THE MAIN HIGHWAY"!
Very friendly staff, will to help and go the extra mile to meet our needs. Needed a wheelchair accessible room, and the room and pool met our needs.
The hotel was very nice, clean. Staff was great. The pool was nice too. Breakfast was nice every morning. My only complaint was that in our King separate suite with a sofa pullout bed had a terrible mattress. It was thin and you could feel every spring. I had to go buy a mattress topper at Walmart because it was not usable as is.
Older hotel, industrial area, updated. Staff is nice. Seems like family run, not corporate standard place. Clean, but poor maintenance. Guests are mostly construction crews, or for the empty convention area nearby. Felt unclean - grimy, dusty corners. Mismatched paint covering holes in walls. Linens in room need re-fresh. Clean, but old. Breakfast - slot machines jolt you awake at 7am. Buffet attendant has cracked plastic tip jar she made — for a free buffet?! Best Western prices, with Super 8 quality maintenance.
Family run hotel where they obviously took my stay seriously. Service was incredibly personable and accommodating. Good find
We had a nice stay here. Location was nice. Room was clean & comfortable. Pool area was nice. Temperature was comfortable for the pool & hot tub. Nice breakfast in the morning. Staff was friendly & helpful. Room was quiet. No noise issues. Bed was comfortable. I love the pillows. We had a king bed room. We had a nice kitchenette and a large refrigerator.
I am writing this with a sense of disappointment and injustice having encountered an unexpected and, I believe, unwarranted charge during our recent visit to your establishment. On what was supposed to be a joyous occasion celebrating my child's 10th birthday, I was bemused to learn that an additional fee of $50 was applied simply because some family members enjoyed a brief use of the hotel pool—this, despite there being no clear indication that such charges would be imposed. One would reasonably assume that the amenities of a hotel, particularly the pool area, are included within the cost of the room unless it is explicitly stated otherwise. This presumption is based on customary industry practices observed in hotels nationwide, including waterparks like The Waters Resort and Waterpark, where charges are transparent and only applied per individual swimmer. This has never been disputed or challenged throughout numerous stays at varying accommodations undeniably because such transparency and trust form the cornerstone of guest relations. It is thus deeply unsettling when faced with a hidden cost which seems to disproportionately affect families such as mine. It's not opulent extravagance we seek but mere enjoyment of facilities we considered part of our package. It casts a shadow upon what was intended to be a festive family gathering. Moreover, when juxtaposed with clear communication regarding other policies such as your pet policy, one cannot help but feel aggrieved by the lack of consistency. Had this information been presented as clearly and readily available on our reservation or receipt—or even verbally communicated at check-in—we could have made an informed decision and possibly taken our celebrations elsewhere. The shock of this charge not only marred the experience we shared; it also placed unexpected strain on our finances, which is particularly poignant for families who budget precisely for such occasions. Charging for auxiliary family members who stopped by merely for dinner—and briefly at that—to use the swimming facility seems rather disproportionate and appears as an indiscriminate attempt to increase revenue without proper justification or guest consent. In fairness, it should be acknowledged that Dottie at the front desk exhibited commendable professionalism, and the quality of the room met our satisfaction. However, even stellar hospitality cannot compensate for inherent policy oversights which lead to customer dissatisfaction. Therefore, I urge you to review this charge policy regarding guest swimming access with urgency and transparency. It is paramount for guests to feel informed and valued—not penalized for unexpressed terms. At its heart, hospitality revolves around crafting memorable experiences rooted in comfort and trust—not discontent over hidden fees. As such correction measures and transparency regarding additional charges must be implemented with immediate effect to restore confidence among your guests and secure their future patronage.
Unprofessional, confrontational, unapologetic, didn't do anything, refused to kick out unruly guests and put us in danger by as us to escort the desk clerk to the unruly, rude and noisy guest causing the unruly drunk guests to become confrontational at and outside of the hotel as a result of their poor judgment
I was able to check in early. Staff was courteous, making sure I had everything I needed before leaving to my room. Always a smiling face at the front desk! Breakfast was delicious and hot. Kids enjoyed the pool
They lied on the size of the rooms and the tubs and the toilet were both backed up, never again will I stay at this location. And I told them about my problem and they didn't really try and fix it or I had to try and fix it myself.
We love this hotel, we stay here when we come vist family and friends in the area. The breakfast is the main reason we stay here. The pool is nice and the hottub is a added bonus. The staff is friendly as well.
Clean & comfortable rooms, great hot continental breakfast with warm breakfast options of eggs, sausage, potatoes, oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, parfait, and much more. Great clean pool & hot tub area with lots of towels. Friendly and helpful staff, I plan on returning again when in the area.
Room was clean except for the odor. Room was large. The room rate was priced high compared to nicer places. I would not stay here specifically because of the stale cigarette smell in the room. It was a non-smoking room but I image that at some point in the past it was not. I think the smell has permeated the walls and carpet. My business colleague said her room smelled the same way. Staff were very nice.
We had a great family gathering of 15 people. We all loved the spacious room, the breakfast, the nice pool and hot tub, and the nearby amenities of being by the Children's museum, a grocery store and Granite Peak area. We were meeting in the middle of the state as a midpoint for all of us. It was a very comfortable place with lovely and spacious suite rooms. Loved the full kitchen that was well equipped, comfy beds and ability to close the bedroom door for some quiet time. We were able to have a large gathering in the breakfast area in the evening which was very nice.
This hotel was great. The staff was friendly, the place was so clean and breakfast was great. The hot food was fresh and good. The coffee machine in the lobby had fun choices. The kitchenette in our room had everything we needed to make a basic dinner one night. The pool was clean and large. I'd definitely stay here again.
Friendly front desk and staff, clean well kept rooms. Breakfast was good, lots of choices and kept well supplied. It's not in a scenic area but if looking for a quiet area this place is great. WONDERFUL
Room was spacious. Beds were very comfortable. Loved having the mini kitchen with a toaster. Drove out of our way to this hotel after turning 2 down because the pool or hot tub were not in working order. This pool and hot tub were great. All jets worked and the water temps were perfect. Just wish it would of been open after 10 for adults only.
Having spent over 100 nights on the road this year I would recommend this hotel. Featuring a full refrigerator and two burner stove top, also utensils and such, a longer term stay would be comfortable. Pool area was fresh and clean. At the price point, it is value for certain. Con: Upstairs tenants letting children make undue noise, late and early...
The hotel is older but well maintained. The rooms are very clean, spacious, with comfortable beds. The staff are very friendly and concerned with your comfort and getting the best value for your dollar. The breakfast area is very spacious with an ample selection of items. The hotel is located in an industrial area but easy to get off and on the freeway. There is a fast food restaurant, family restaurant, and a bar close to the hotel. If you are traveling, I would recommend this hotel.
Traveling in a snow storm this was a must stop, pleasantly surprised by the accommodation & friendly staff the Hot Tub & pool area was very nice to relax In room kitchen was great & Breakfast was awesome
Excellent facility with above average staff, continental breakfast, comfortable beds, great pool and hot tub. Nice size rooms to accommodate our families. Full size refrigerator was such an added plus. No limit on assistance from any staff member from the front desk to kitchen to housekeeping. Nice to see how well the staff treated each guest and EACH other!!
Have stayed at this location multiple times and the amenities are upgraded along with the usual helpful staff. The breakfast is very good for the overall price point with a spacious dining area and comfortable seeating.
Can't beat the value. The hotel is easy to get to from the highway. Breakfast has various options, they are freshly made, and well stocked. Helpful employees! Also several dining options within 2 minutes (or less) driving distance.
Desk clerk Kari ordered our group of four to go to our respective rooms as we were gathered in the lobby stating that quiet time was 10PM. She did this at 9:10PM. In no way were we disruptive to other guests and she had received no complaints. Kari approach our group in an aggressive and threatening manor and referred to us as "drunks". Despite my attempt to resolve whatever issue she had, she refused to allow us to remain in the lobby area. I believe our conversation that revolved around the upcoming midterm elections triggered her. BTW, I'm retired from law enforcement and Kari's conduct was unprofessional and well outside of the scope of her duties.
Welcoming reception. Pleasant and helpful front desk staff. Good breakfast. Accommodating room with sink and stove. Comfortable bed. Location is good, close to convention center and closer still to water park.
Front desk staff were friendly and efficient. Size of room was great. Pool and hot tub area was good and pool temperature was nice. Breakfast room is very spacious and nicely appointed. Would stay here again.
Why have I not stayed here before? Great room with a comfy lounge chair and a kitchen with full size frig and dishwasher? Great little table with two chairs to eat at. Lovely staff. Clean. Warm pool. Close to restaurants and bars. I'm definitely a new fan!
We just wanted a place to get away a few hours from home and this was our choice, the pool is decent, breakfast was delicious and our room was comfy although not the cleanest. I'd recommend this place for a quick getaway anyway.
Forgot my rings in room and several of the staff were very helpful in getting them back to me after we had left. Wonderful staff, very kind and helpful. They called me several times letting me know what they were doing and when I would receive my rings back.
Good room, especially if you're staying a few days. Big refrigerator and plenty of closet and counter space. Good bed and great pillows. Friendly customer service from everyone, and a solid home-cooking breakfast by Harry. We'll be back!
Have stayed at much higher priced hotels and I was quite pleased to find a fully stocked kitchenette in the room. Staff was nice. Breakfast adequate. Coffee was good Rooms were clean. Remote was sanitized and bagged. All the little things that make you feel good about your stay
This facility was amazing. The staff was also amazing. Anything we needed, it was taken care of immediately. The amenities were great, they even have a laundry machines available. The so called continental breakfast was also very good. Lots of variety there.
Check in and check out was a breeze. Room was clean. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Everything worked. Hot breakfast was a great way to start the day. Pool area was nice and clean. Easy access from the freeway. Close restaurants and gas stations as well.
Great staff, nice rooms, clean, but barking dogs.We first were assigned a room without working A/C, lady came up checked it out and moved us to a new room, couldn't ask for better service, she even helped move our things. Slept well, until morning when we heard barking dogs, first one room, then another. We called, noise subsided, then came back, we packed and left. Would have been close to perfect for the price point! Talked to another couple in the parking lot who where moving to another hotel because of the barking dogs. Usually there's many others that are annoyed beyond those that called the desk and complain, wonder how many others left or moved. Are we running dog hotels where people come in second?
We stay at this property a few times a year and it's always excellent. Staff is friendly & professional with real hospitality, rooms are spacious & clean with comfortable beds, great breakfast. We'll be back!
This hotel was so nice! The room was great, the breakfast room and breakfast itself was amazing, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We didn't get a chance to use the pool and hot tub or fitness room, but they looked great as well. I would highly recommend this place!
The Hotel is very good quiet place to stay with everything you could imagine, from snack, drinks, pizza, kitchenettes to a great breakfast. This Hotel offers excellent accommodation and JANET at the front desk goes above and beyond to make you feel like home.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Best Western and would definitely stay here again. The rooms were very spacious, and we loved that they had a mini kitchen. There was a nice continental breakfast with several options to choose from. Super friendly and helpful staff, too!
Our stay at Best western plus was going well until our bike lock froze the bike onto the bike rack! We told Brooke the Front desk clerk the problem nothing was open at that time of night so she jumped ti action. She solved our problem and we were in bed and were able to make the triathlon race that my husband was in that next day!! Thank you You Brooke for balking our stay enjoyable!!
Husband and I with our dog stayed one night. Was not looking forward to staying at a hotel on a holiday but the Staff were all so friendly and very playful with our dog. Clean, spacious room and the breakfast was excellent.
New hotel. Everything was clean. Staff was so pleasant & helpful. They knew the area & recommend things to do & restaurants. First time I was asked floor preference. Great location. Pool, grill & exterior furniture were clean. We stay again on our next trip up north.
Was in Wausau for the Art Fair. First time staying at a Best Western Plus, I am a loyalty member with another chain. Chose this hotel due to its positive reviews and price. Location was such that we could quickly get to any place is Wausau. The room was beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was phenomenal in how it was set up for Covid protection. I will always look for a Best Western plus in the future when I travel.
Best hotel in the area. Best beds. Best rooms. Best staff. Best house cleaning. Best breakfast. Best fitness center. Best internet. Best parking. Best local restaurants nearby. Best shopping nearby. The very best.
This hotel is a very pleasant surprise. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are large with kitchenettes and full size refrigerators..King bed was comfortable. Room was very clean. The breakfast area was pleasant and a full breakfast was served with 2 waffle machines, cereal, eggs ,yogurt etc. The breakfast attendant was very helpful. Would gladly stay here again when in the area. .
While we have stayed in the Wausau area many times, this was our first time at the BW+. We picked it because it was close to where we were doing a delivery, but it turned out to be a great place. We booked a kitchenette suite - really didn't need the kitchenette, but wanted a couch and work area. The place was HUGE! Kitchenette, dining/work counter, easy chair, sofa, and TV in one room. Bedroom with King bed, TV, small work desk, and closet is a separate room. Large bathroom is also a separate room. It would be a fantastic place to stay for an extended time. The pool and spa were well kept and clean - there was a fitness center with machines - we looked in, but didn't use it. The breakfast was well above average with scrambled eggs, sausages and breakfast potatoes as well as cereals, breads, muffins, hard boiled eggs, and yogurts served in a spacious room with staff working hard to make sure everything was right. One outstanding plus for us - they had salsa in the cooler - you just don't see many places outside the southwest that do that. Overall, the BW+ built a spacious hotel here that says "this is a great place to be" rather than maximizing every square inch for maximum profit. We'll be back when we're in Wausau.
We always stay here when in the area. Great value, up todate clean rooms and staff is always accommodating and friendly! Free breakfast has always been more than cold prepackaged food which is wonderful.
My husband and I wanted to give our 12 year old daughter a reward for getting straight A's on her 2nd semester report card. She chose the option of getting a local hotel and spending the night there with a friend. The 3 of us checked in and the woman at the desk (who I assume was the manager) was amazing and very welcoming. Once we were in our room, I called my husband and told him if he wanted to bring our other 2 children to swim, he could. My daughter's friend has a younger brother and he came as well. Before the children could get in the water, the front desk attendant (who was so nice earlier) stormed into the pool area and very rudely asked me if I had any more people coming to swim, that she normally wouldn't allow so many people because it's a liability, but she would allow it this time (3 extra children were swimming, 2 of them were my own). I guess if she had been nicer about it, I would have understood. She also wouldn't allow my daughter to use her pool floats in the pool, said they were too big...? The rest of our experience at this hotel was wonderful. The room was clean and comfortable, the other staff members were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with omelets, French toast, sausage, waffles, etc. The lady who ran the breakfast area was so nice! So - all in all, it was a great experience with the exception of the pool situation. One more thing to note...the hot tub was not in working order, so she did give me a discount on the room at check-in, which I thought was nice.
This is a gorgeous hotel! Staff was super nice! We enjoyed everyday we were there! The pool was super nice! The breakfast was good! They have a lot more options than a normal hotel has which is really nice!
Danielle and staff were so amazing and made us feel welcome during our stay. We got a great deal online for a week stay and outstanding amenities! Room was clean, kitchenette, comfortable beds, and hot breakfast! We will definitely stay agin next time we're in Wausau!
Our motorcycle broke down and we unexpectedly had to find a place to stay. Everyone at the hotel was so kind and gracious. Everything was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was surprisingly good and had quite a few things for people with food allergies. Several restaurants were within walking distance and the hot tub and pool were welcome additions. They even took care of booking our next Best Western . Thanks for the great experience! They made a tough situation awesome.
Staff was friendly. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Staff was friendly and professional. It was nice having a kitchenette in the room. Only drawback for us was that we didn't turn the ice maker off before bed. It was close to Granite Peak and had convenient shopping nearby.
We stayed in a beautiful room with a full sized fridge and stove. We loved the room but right outside the window there is a parking lot light that shines directly into the room (214) and unfortunately there are no heavy curtains to block it out. Other than that, we'll be back just requesting a different room!
Clean, friendly and up to date comfortable rooms. My husband and I stayed overnight and will stay here again next time. Hotel and room was very clean. Covid precautions were greatly made by hotel and staff.
The hotel and rooms were very clean and nice. They still offered a hot breakfast which you picked up from the staff who were behind a table in front of the room with the food because of covid-19. Marjory and Sandra, the staff doing this, were very friendly, helpful, and mad the experience excellent as was the quality of food offered. Kathleen, at the front desk, was the most friendly, helpful employee I have ever experienced at a hotel. She inquired about the reason for our stay and offered helpful tips when we told her we were traveling for pleasure. She told us about a local, favorite restaurant in the area which we ended up going to after seeing the Texas Roadhouse was packed with people during covid-19.
Have stayed there twice now, and each time the staff has been great. They are friendly and responsive to your questions and if you have an issue, they are right there to fix it. Water pressure good in the shower, has plenty of pillows that don't go completely flat, they actually have substance! Temp controls work well, are quiet, and pool and hot tub area are clean and NOT overly chlorinated. Hot tub is not too hot, and pool is not heated, so it can be a bit chilly. Breakfast, don't get too excited. Beds are comfortable and the room is dark when shades are pulled. Not the greatest vies from window, but when you are there to chill after a day of driving, not a big deal. I would recommend to stay there and plan when we are in the area to stay again.
We had a 1 night stay...and found the hotel to be a nice stay! The breakfast was very good...waffles, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy, sausage, nice selection of toasts etc, yogurt, cereal. We first got down to eat around 9 and everything was still kept very fresh! Our room was great...nicely decorated, the bathroom was very clean(towels were kind of scratchy), All staff we encountered were very friendly. My only complaint would be the heating unit(room 102) was very annoying overnight. We set it at 68 before going to bed, got up and turned down twice. It seemed overly warm finally set at 60 and would have been ok, but the entire night it would kick in and run for 1-2 minutes then kick back in again 4-5 minutes later! Didn't get a real great night sleep...BUT the bed was very comfy! We would definitely stay here again for the price!
I fly all over the country working on cheese plants,so I live out of hotels. I've never in my career stayed a place like this. The room is nice, but the service is terrible. I've now been here for 7 days and thank god I only have 2 more to go. Of the 7 days I've stayed, the room was clean the first night I flew in of course. Day one good, day 2 my room was cleaned like anywhere else. However since then I have not had anyone even stop and give me towels, toilet paper or anything. I talked to the front desk on day 3, as you get 3 days of towels and wash clothes, but today on day 5 still nothing. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Stear clear and go someplace that actually cares. Front desk lady was nice, other than that stay away. If you get the chance to stay here, sleep in your car it's more likely to get cleaned.
We (wife, me and 2 tween boys) stayed Saturday night over President's Day Weekend 2020 because we were in town for skiing. Our room was a suite, with a separate bedroom and a fold-out couch in the living area. Note--this is an "extended stay" hotel. I'm going to do this review in a "Pros vs. Cons" format. Pros: Full kitchen with mostly all the cookware and utensils you'll need. Fairly spacious suite. Very good breakfast included--eggs, taters, sausage, biscuits and gravy and typical continental breakfast fare. Very large and spacious dining area....plenty of room to have a relaxing breakfast. King bed was very comfortable. Decent indoor pool and hot tub. Free WiFi. Short drive to Granite Peak, and close to restaurants and shopping mall. Cons: First room we checked into wasn't totally clean (remember, it's an extended stay hotel)--hotel staff moved us to a different, but identical room, no problem. Hotel located in an industrial area....not ideal. Huge power plant only a few blocks away. View from room rather ugly. In the same vein, while the hotel looked like it was recently remodeled, it has a an institutional feel to it. Skimpy on the complimentary shampoo, soap etc. A few things out of order in the lobby. So, all in all, it was a good stay. It served our purpose as a place to crash for a night. But since it's an extended stay hotel, i can see housecleaning being an issue. But, the front desk staff was friendly and accommodated us.
My wife and I and our small dog stay at this hotel many times during the year. It is always clean, the staff is always friendly and helpful. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchens are nice to have when guests come to visit at the hotel. The pool and hot tub are always clean and comfortable.
We stayed here with an ice skating team and it was great! The staff was very attentive to our needs and let us use all of the extra rooms with the team to prepare for our competition. It was so nice to have a communal area to gather
This was a "no frills" Best Western. The pool area was clean and modern. The breakfast room was spacious and even had a gas fireplace. The breakfast itself was average. The rooms are "house-keeping" units with full size fridge, stove, and microwave.
Enjoyed staying at this Best Western Plus. I thought the plus meant it has a little refrigerator and microwave. Wrong! We had a full size frig, 2 burner stove, dishwasher, cooking supplies, etc. so the extra cost (over basic economy hotels) is understood. We had a very comfortable bed and table area to eat a meal, pretty nice for a basic room. I took a star away because of it being in an industrial area. Our view was of huge pipes and what not. It's a strange area, touristy with a giant water park across the street but then all this industry mixed in.
A great place to stay in Wausau area. The rooms were very clean and quiet. I used the fitness room which was well equipped. There is a bar onsite which serves pizza. I didn't try out the pool but it sounded cool as it was salt water!
Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and the seating area was very nice. The reason for my 3 rating was the dark and dingy halls that had a musky moldy smell which was not good for my allergies. The front .office staff was satisfactory.
I booked through Priceline with room assignment at check in. My only request at any hotel is a quiet room as I requested this stay. The hotel clerk(s) went out of their way to accommodate my request reassigning my room from a floor full of young hockey players to a quiet corner room on another floor. Very pleased and appreciative with this gesture of costumer service that was above the call of duty. Thank you.
I love the layout of the rooms with the desk area and kitchenette. Breakfast is great and has a spacious dining room. My family loved the pool and hot tub. We decided to eat at restaurants in downtown Wausau so we wished we would have been a bit closer.
Picked this hotel to stay under the BW chain. The hotel itself is on the edge of an industrial area with a few other hotels. Check-in here was super quick and we were quickly in our room. Hotel was clean and quiet. Breakfast in the morning was very good. Kudos to the breakfast attendant that morning. The dining area was large and could accommodate larger groups. Overall, would stay here again.
Just stayed here for a quick get away, it's close to granite peak ski resort, about 10 min on highway, lots of restaurants near by. Suite Rooms are well appointed with kitchens, microwave, stove top, fridge, sink, dish washer and pretty much all the utensils and stuff you need. Comfortable pretty large room. Free morning breakfast is good. Pool and hot tub was clean. Staff is really friendly and it's a dog friendly hotel!! Which is why we chose this place. They even provide a special dog area and bags and still guests are rude and thoughtless and don't always pick up after their pets outside. Humans suck sometimes. Feel bad that this hotel is so accommodating, clean and well staffed and guests take advantage by not doing their part and cleaning up after their pets. Please please if you're traveling with your pet be responsible and clean up after them. Don't ruin these great pet friendly options for the rest of us.
Family trip to ski granite peak. Arrived late, happy with large king suite and rollaway. Unhappy with finding several dirty towels in the room and used tissues and paper towels. Front desk staff very friendly and immediately cleaned out the towels. Average free continental breakfast, eggs, sausage, waffles, oatmeal and breads. However, very rude employee working both days. Snippy to a woman coming to get food just prior to close. Next morning very rude to us leaving with 2 bagels and 2 muffins. Rooms have a toaster and kitchenette and large table so wanted to relax and eat in our room. She confronted and scolded us even though others were doing the same with full plates of food. Was very surprised as we travel often and stay many places and have never been confronted like that for choosing to eat in our room. There are many hotel choices in the area. We'll stay somewhere else next visit.
This is a nice hotel with friendly staff and well equipped rooms. A full kitchenette in every room makes you feel more at home. It's also surprisingly quiet considering it's closeness to the interstate
We were very pleased with how quickly our check in was including the recognizing of my rewards status. When we got to the room, it was clean and had a nearly complete kitchen! If you need an extended stay or prefer not having to eat out, this place is perfect!
My wife and I have stayed at this hotel many times and have never been disappointed. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The entire hotel is very clean. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. Breakfast is outstanding for a hotel buffet with plenty of hot and cold items to choose from. The pool and hot tub are always very clean. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in the Wausau area.
The room was so big and it included a kitchenette. It is a well maintained hotel. The dining room was spacious and the food was good for a hotel chain. The staff was friendly. I definitely would stay there again.
The hotel staff is friendly. Beds are comfortable. We had hair in our bathtub and the microwave was not cleaned. Breakfast is ok. We changed rooms as the first room there was hair in the bathtub. The second room they put us in also had hair in the tub and the microwave was dirty. We didn't feel like switching rooms again so we just stayed in that room thinking the other rooms would be about the same. They gave us extra points due to the cleanliness problems. I would stay here again as I do like the comfortable beds and friendly staff. The hot tub was also not working the whole weekend.
Primarily two issues. King room has the bed about 8 inches from the wall on one side making it difficult to get in and out of the bed. The second was that the hot tub wasn't working during our stay and that was the primary reason we chose this hotel.
The room was very spacious for my husband, daughter and I. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast had eggs and sausage. There was a wide variety of other items. The coffee was good. Plan to stay there again when in town.
The final leg of our Northwoods vacation. We were very tired and hungry. Asked if there was a place the would deliver. The front desk agent started looking for brochures and mentioned that she could make us a pizza for $9 and it would take minutes. Yahoo! The room was clean. Had one little snag because there was only one sheet for the sofa bed. She brought up a set with extra sheet and another pillow. The hot tub was the right temperature though we didn't use it til next morning, that's how tired we were from the day's activities and driving(St Gerrmain/Apostle Islands). Good breakfast. People tend to congregate at the entrance to the breakfast area so it was hard to manuever, plus they were VERY loud. Love, love love the fully separate bedroom with door!
The staff were very helpful and welcoming. We met a manager in the elevator, who was very nice and inquired about our stay. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was hot and their was a nice variety for a continental breakfast.
I stayed at the best western plus in Rothschild Wisconsin for a couple nights. Service was friendly, helpful and efficient. They remembered me from a previous stay and welcomed me back. The problem that accured was that the water in the pool was extremely cold. When I mentioned this to the lady at the desk she went pretty far out of her way to correct the issue. She could have just called maintenance and waited but she actually stayed on it until it was change. Also, the breakfast there is quite good and the lady that puts it together is efficient and very pleasant.
We stayed here for a soccer tournament and the room was very clean and we liked the extra space. While we didn't use the kitchenette, it was nice to have a full size refrigerator to keep all our drinks cold. Bathroom was nice and large, and entire hotel clean.
We usually come here for 3-4 nights for skiing. Very friendly stuff, good service, free laundry, refrigerator in the room, inside pool, continental breakfast included. The room was clean and spacious, the beds are comfortable.
Checking was was easy, staff was very kind, nice laundry facilities and room was great - have stayed here before and would definitely stay here again. Location was also close to gym, grocery store, gas station, fast food and several restaurants.
The hotel room was clean overall, the beds were quite comfortable. The breakfast included a nice variety of items and the eating area was very clean. We took our dog along and the area for pottying was large and clean. They also provided poop bags and receptacle right there which was handy. I would stay here again.
We arrived on a Friday, checked in and left quickly for a family dinner. It appeared the floor hadn't been vacuumed very well...crumbs on the kitchen area floor and paper bits in the sleeping area. We left Saturday morning for an outing and didn't return until after 9 pm. Our room never was tended to...bed unmade, dirty towels on floor and still crumbs on floor. We called the front desk...should I bring you the towels or do you want to get them? Silly question. Before we left Sunday morning for our day, we stopped at the front desk and reiterated that our room had never been cleaned and we'd like that taken care of. Oh, yes...we have a note of that and our manager knows about the situation. When we got back later that evening, the bed had been made, fresh towels were in the bathroom...but the bathroom had not been cleaned, floors STILL not vacuumed and plastic glasses had not been restocked. REALLY disappointing! My husband said we should have gotten a discount. The staff members we encountered were all very friendly....but there seems to be a serious lack of communication to housekeeping.
Housekeeping was at the room on Sunday before we were dressed and needed to do room or it might not get made up. On Tuesday room was NOT touched. Had to get fresh towels from front desk. Floor was not vacuumed on a number of days
Clean, comfortable room, convenient location, pet friendly, will definitely stay here again. I liked the walking spaces for the dog, restaurants nearby. Staff were very good. Loved the breakfast options.
Always enjoy staying here! Manager was wonderful..rooms VERY clean and quiet.Love the free laundry and exercise room! Breakfast was fresh and delicious! Looking forward to next stay here in the Fall!!
Excellent hotel, wish their were gluten free options for breakfast and hot tub broke down and couldn't be fixed. Staff was friendly and room was spacious and clean, perfect for our family trip. Women at front desk helped to credit my account at a busy check out time and she was kind and courteous.
We very much enjoy our stays at this location. We stay here when in town for the shows at The Grand Theater in downtown Wausau. The front desk crew is always so friendly and remember us from previous visits. They make us feel very welcome and we enjoy talking with them. The rooms are always very comfortable and fairly quiet. The beds and pillows are very comfortable and the place is kept very clean and tidy. The breakfast, and breakfast lady, is by far one of the best we have experienced. And we have been to lots of different motel/hotels. Overall, we would rate this hotel one of the best we have stayed at. It's well worth the time and money to stop by.
This is a hotel with very nice rooms, but the rest of the hotel is average. The fitness center is small, the lobby doesn't really look like a lobby, but there is nice staff. It's a good location for where I needed to go.
I always enjoy the stay here. The staff is very polite and resourceful. They give good dining recommendations. They are familiar with me and remain very friendly throughout my stay. I will continue to use your hotel for all my lodging needs, both business and leisure.
I stay 100+ nights a year on the road, the Best western + here in Wausau is always a pleasure to stay at, its clean, its roomy, the hot breakfast is great, and its very conveniently located for me. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Very quit and clean. The hotel staff very nice and respectful. The rooms have full frigs and cooking counter very handy after a days work. Poll and sauna area kept up and clean. Breakfast hot and cold different selection most days'
Excellent staff and service. Rooms are clean and all of them have kitchenettes. Only problem I have is they must not pay to have hdtv receivers and TVs are blurry and it's hard to watch. The whole picture doesn't fit on the screen
We were on the road for 11 days out east and back . Stayed in motels every night, mostly BWs. By far this was the best of the bunch. Clean, convenient, friendly with restaurants and shopping near by. Excellent breakfast selection and eating area. Helpful friendly staff all around. A bit more expensive, but still affordable. We would definitely come back if traveling through again.
Wonderful quiet and clean. Room exceeded expectations, staff was curteous and helpful. Only complaint was pool was out of order, but one was available near by and we were compensated for inconvenience.
I prefer the Holiday Inn, but it was full, so I stayed here for three nights. I really enjoyed it! Huge room with a full kitchen and full-sized fridge. There's a grocery store close by, so I stocked up and ate in. Good complimentary breakfast. Good staff and competent housekeeping. Would recommend for sure.
I normally wouldn't have booked at a Best Western but it was one of the hotels we were given for a soccer tournament. The rooms were amazing. Very large, clean, looked like they were newly remodeled. Carpet looked new. Full fridge, micro wave, oven top, sink. Shower was great, bed and pillows were excellent. Pool was out of service which was too bad for our large group of soccer kids. But it didn't hurt my feelings. They actually gave us a discount because of this. Breakfast in morning was very nice too. The Lobby needs an update!
No problem but they need a roll out bed option. The internet also didn't work, but not a huge deal because I have a mobile hot spot. Breakfast area was huge and inviting....pool was also out of order when I went ... repairs happen....
We needed two connecting rooms and called a couple of days before our trip. They arranged it for us and we loved the rooms. Rooms had everything we needed and some more. Message board with pins was very thoughtful. Room service came while we were away and refreshed room , except for the beds, because they had our personal items. They left a note explaining that, which was very nice of them. Highly recommended. Breakfast buffet was average and their waffles batter does not have egg. We checked as we do not consume egg.
I sure wish I could remember their names or had made note, but everyone we encountered was so friendly. The housekeeping staff greeted us every time we passed them in the hallway and so did the front desk staff. It was such a quaint feel there and we were literally meant to feel like we were guests at someone's home. Things were so clean and well taken care of. The pool and breakfast area were cozy and extremely comfortable and inviting. I work at a BW and can only hope that my team makes our guests feel as welcome as your staff did!!! Way to go!!
This place is very well-managed, and it's obvious they are entirely focused on the satisfaction of their customers. I'm a bit of a neat freak - and couldn't find a single thing out of order or in need of updating/repair.
Everything about this Best Western was great. The rooms were spacious (like a little studio apartment), the location was convenient and quiet, the group rate we were given was awesome, and the breakfast was fantastic. We also liked how much room there was for eating as sometimes other hotels have too little space for the number of guests. Our group was treated very well and the staff was helpful and friendly at all times. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.
Great place to stay, it was recommended to us by a local business as being the best hotel in the immediate area. They were right. Clean, friendly, quiet and a good breakfast. Highly recommend this hotel and we will try a Best Western again.
This was by far the best Best Western hotel that I have ever stayed at across the board. If all Best Western's were like this one I would never stay at another chain hotel. The hotel was impeccably clean and modern and service was top notch.
Good stay overall. Staff was great. Pool and hot tub were great. Hot breakfast was great. Only issue was AC in suite. Only AC unit is in main room. Fan in wall between main room and bedroom does a very poor job keeping bedroom cold. Had to ask for a fan because sleeping in warm bedroom was uncomfortable. Also, if you've been on the road for hours and you pull up to the hotel tired - yes, that is the front of the hotel (we drove around the hotel thinking we arrived at a secondary entrance).
My wife and I have stayed at a lot of different Best Westerns. This one is particularly nice. The room is unusually well-appointed, with a full fridge and cook-top stove. We were between destinations and might have stayed a single night if we weren't so impressed with the place. As it turned out, we decided to enjoy the room a little more than usual and this also gave us additional sightseeing time in the area (especially Rib Mountain). This hotel is a very good value.
The place was perfect! Great value. Loved the 6 AM pool opening, I could hit the hot tub before the family woke up. I highly recommend this hotel. The breakfast was also very good. I will be staying there the next time I'm in the Wasuas area.
Check-in was streamlined. Clerk advised of thunderstorm warning for area. Fairly new hotel whose rooms are designed for extended stays. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Large breakfast area with good variety.
This Best Western is one of the best we have ever stayed at. We stay here several times a year and would not consider another facility in the area due to the cleanliness, amenities, and suite rooms. We'll be returning within the month but this time with the grandkids!
I stayed at the best western in Rothschild during a week of training for my work. I utilized the fitness center, laundry, pool, breakfast and was extremely satisfied with all. I would recommend this hotel to a friend who may inquire a stay in the area most definately!
My wife and I stayed at the Best Western in Rothschild and were very happy with our stay. The King suite we had was very large with a separate bedroom and kitchenette. While sold as a full kitchen our room did not have an oven in it but did have everything else a typical kitchen would have. If this room had an oven we would be inclined to bring our own food and stay a few days without having to leave the hotel. The room was clean and bright with minimal noise from other rooms. The breakfast was delicious with great service all around. We will be returning when visiting the area.
I never rate hotels because it takes time. This hotel however is one of the best I've been to in a very long time so it deserved a review. I would highly recommend and would stay again. Even my co-worker I was travelling with made notice.
We have been staying once a week a BW. We bring our dog. $20 Pet fee is reasonable. With no notice we were charged 30$ and was told BW corporation increased the price. The website still says $20. But note, overall the staff and facility are very good. P.S. bring your own pillow. ALL BW have the most firm and large lumpy pillows
Did a non scheduled overnight here and used the BW Plus. Staff was friendly, rooms very clean and close to lots of the basics. Hotel has a pool and free breakfast. WiFi and kitchenette. Within walking distance is a Pick n Save grocery store, movie theatre and restaurants. If you have a car I suggest giving the Brews Brothers Burger joint a try. It was awesome. About 4 miles from hotel. Sleep tight??????
Stayed for work and am very impressed with kitchenette in room, cleanliness and room layout. Someone was thinking when they planned these rooms. Appreciated. Near a movie theater and grocery store if you are in need of entertainment and willing to use kitchenette. Almost like camping in Wisconsin...but not.
We stayed in the king suite- very clean, frig/stove very nice feature. The bedroom separate from the TV room, so some could sleep while others stayed up. Breakfast very good, plenty of seating so we were not waiting/fighting for tables.
I believe all rooms have a kitchenette. We don't usually need one but it was nice to have a fridge for dinner leftovers. Good value. But what impressed me was I forgot a pillow I bring with me to hotels at the Best Western. I ended up retrieving it about a month later. Impressive because sometimes things left at hotels are mysteriously never found. Also it is right off HWY 39. Nice hot tub and good breakfast with a lot of dining area. Not enough space to eat at some free breakfast buffets.
My family stayed in the King Suite room for a weekend conference being held nearby in Wausau. Our hotel stay met all of our expectations. I look for the little things that make me feel like I am at a home away from home. There was a bowl up fruit, with hot fresh coffee in the lobby for guests coming and going. We needed extra towels because my kids always use too many, and the woman at the front desk brought them up in lightening speed. The suite was clean and had everything I needed to cook chicken quesadillas, and hamburgers for the weekend. The pool was a great size, and WARM. Thank you. The hot tub was perfect. The breakfast was always stocked full with fresh cooked eggs, sausages, and the staff kept it very clean. It was a quiet nights sleep. I recommend this hotel for family or Business.
I had been leery of Best Western's after several cross-country trips with my family in the 1970s. Well, these are not my Daddy's Best Western. Like the others I've stayed in recently, the facility is new, clean, comfortable with all the amenities I need for a brief stay, and more. Beds are comfortable, kitchenette/eating area well-provisioned, good expanded breakfast and helpful staff. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely stay.
Stayed here for a quiet New Year's celebration with friends. We stayed in a king suite. The room was spotless and beautiful; beds comfortable (even the pull out sofa bed). The pool was relaxing and well supplied with towels. Breakfast was hot, delicious, widely varied. We have stayed at quite a few Best Westerns over the past 5 years and this was one the best we've experienced. FYI for potential guests, there is a lot of storage space in the suite and the only appliance you DON'T have is an oven.
This hotel is right around the corner from my son. I like the place. Really enjoyed the full size refrigerator since I had things to bring in so they did not freeze outside. The beds are comfortable and I like the bathroom, especially the little extra shelf over the vanity. Would prefer an A/C-Heat unit that I could have the fan run constantly so the noise was constant. But all in all, love the place.
My husband and I stayed Sunday and Monday night. This place is incredible! Very nice staff, clean and spacious rooms and very quiet to name a few. The only thing I would have changed is the fan noise. Sometimes it was hard to hear the tv, even with the volume all the way up. This will, however, not detour us from staying there again!
The Best Western Plus in Rothschild, Wisconsin is a great hotel. The facility is clean; rooms are spacious and have everything you need whether a short or long stay. Most of all, the staff is very professional, efficient and friendly. We always stay here when we are in that part of Wisconsin. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone whether business or personal stay.
Nice, quiet, comfortable room with kitchenette, including stove, dish washer, refrigerator& microwave. King size bed with lots of pillows. Roomy bathroom with tub/shower. Excellent breakfast 6-9AM. Close to hwy 39/51. Good value for the price. Best Western has good rewards program too. Love it.
My husband and I stayed here for almost two months when we relocated to the area and needed to wait for our home to be ready. Great daily rate, wonderful staff and nice room for a long term stay. I would highly recommend for long or short term stay. The daily breakfast is great!!!
Each room is like a kitchenette with stove, ref, and microwave. Stayed here often and always a good experience. Varied hot breakfast items which are always well prepared. Large dining area with comfortable seating and TV's located around the room.
My husband was having surgery and the BW was 10 minutes away from the hospital.Last BW we stayed at was a night mare but since this chain is our preferred place to stay we took a chance and so happy we did, hopefully we won't need to come back but if we do this is where we will be staying .
This is a former extended stay property. Our room had a kitchenette and was very spacious. I wish they would have had queen beds, there was room. My only complaint is that my credit card was charged before I checked out, I wanted to use my debit card, and the check out gal said it was too late. Why not wait until check out time to charge my card?
I stayed one night at this hotel on a business trip. While I had booked a standard room, my reservation was upgraded to a mini suite which was very tastefully decorated and comfortable, with full size kitchen amenities. Definitely a bonus. I did not use the pool area, but it appeared to be very clean, spacious and well maintained. The breakfast was the typical Best Western fare. Overall the hotel was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again if in town.
I typically do not stay at Best Western, however, while on business in Wausau, I decided to give this hotel a try. the room rate was reasonable and front desk clerk very helpful. The king room was excellent with a full size fridge and stove (like an extended stay hotel) the room was clean and bed comfortable. The breakfast was very good. Hot food and vey clean dining area. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay while in the Wausau area
Very nice hotel. Very clean and in good repair. Friendly staff. Very good breakfast. Comfortable rooms stocked with everything we needed. Kitchen was stocked with dishes, pots and pans and utensils. There was a dishwasher, but no oven. There was a nice heated pool and a hot tub. There was also a workout area and laundry.. Our suite had a kitchen, living area, separate bedroom, and a handicapped accessible bathroom. I would stay here again.
It's always clean, staff is very helpful and friendly. Love the room because it feels like a small apartment with kitchen. I work in area every month or two so I like the staff and room. Hotel is nice. Surrounding area is factory and freeway - wouldn't be a destination hotel.
I enjoyed my stay here. It had a great breakfast and a lot to chose from. The comfort of the bed was good and I like the location not far from Wausau. Very easy to get on and off the highway. Staff was very friendly.
This was a very nice hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. It had a full kitchen, nice desk area, comfortable bed, and great shower. We enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. It had all the things we look for in a hotel room. Because of the full modern kitchen and desk area it would be good for a business person on an extended stay.
Wonderful hotel. Staff was very accomodating. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and menu items varied each day. Great value. The front desk was extremely attentive to any concern and helped with fax transmissions and mailing if needed! Definitely would recommend!
This hotel has very nice rooms, with a kitchen, and is a fantastic value. The breakfast had lots of choices and the breakfast room is very nice, also. It was fairly close to the airport. So glad we stayed here.
Surprisingly quite location. Perfect for a business traveler. Nice, large work area with an awesome kitchenette with a FULL size refrigerator. It was a very welcomed addition after a long day. The Wi-Fi did not cut out as with many other hotels. The breakfast area was top-notch! Great selection and a very smart layout.
Extremely nice hotel. Very clean. Very reasonable. Full kitchens. Big rooms. Pool. Great breakfast with plenty of seating. Staff was extremely helpful. We have stayed at other hotels in the area and this by far was the best.
Our two night stay was perfect for us. The room was nice sized and clean. The beds were comfortable and our room was quiet. We slept like logs, as they used to say. We were In town for the Wausau Arts Festival, which proved to be absolutely fantastic. It took us 12-15 minutes to drive to the downtown Wausau Festival location. They breakfast was quite good with a couple of hot items. Breakfast bar well maintained and tables clean. Desk personnel were knowledgeable and helpful. Good location for a Wausau visit.
great place to visit, might want to live here. we use this hotel all of the time, the staff is wonderful, the hotel is really nice. I love the fact that there is a full kitchen in the room, it makes it very easy to have the grandchildren travel with us.
Everything was awesome with our stay. Staff was excellent, rooms were very clean and modern, hot breakfast was very tasty, check-in and check-out was quick and easy. Will definitely stay at again if in the Wausau, WI area.
Everything was clean and working. Having a kitchen was great. Having a fitness room, and a laundry room was nice. The location was easy to get to, and restaurants and stores were nearby. Everyone on staff that we met, and dealt with was professional.
We stay at this hotel 3-4 times a year. The rooms are clean, beds very comfortable, the continental breakfast better than most, great size pool! We will definitely be back - highly recommend for family or a business stay.
Our room was outstanding, the main area and the bathroom were both generously sized. The pool and hot tub were at the perfect temperatures. And the staff were wonderful. Breakfast was great! We actually stayed an extra night because we liked the hotel so much.
We were so pleased to have a spacious, clean room. It was quiet and restful. We couldn't have asked for more. We needed and received a good night's sleep. The bathroom was also spacious. While many businesses around there are not thriving, this is a nugget worth finding. It was within walking distance of eating places.
the staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable about things to see and do in the area. Room was nice and roomy, nicely decorated and clean. Would stay here again. Free breakfast was the usual - some eggs, bacon, waffles, cereal, toast. Close to shopping & nearby attractions but not within easy walking distance.
Excellent hotel experience all around. Smooth check in, pleasant staff, competent service, huge and beautifully appointed room though just a double queen. Very comfortable bed. Enjoyed pool and full breakfast as well. Will definitely return, and recommend highly to others!
Awesome, clean, great breakfast. Only flaw is if you have kids along you can see the waterpark across the street. However the pool area in this hotel is great. Well maintained and great temp. Breakfast is fantastic. Room had full fridge and 2 burner stove.
This was a very pleasant surprise. The rooms were nice and well equiped and the price was good. I would recommend it. The room had a mini kitchen that was fairly well equipped and very clean. The breakfast was decent as well.
Just a quick overnight stay, but the short amount of time we were here I can say we were very impressed. Room was very well appointed with a nice Kitchenette. Granite counters in bath and kitchen were a nice touch. Well laid out space. Didn't get to use the pool but from appearance looked to be very well maintained. Breakfast was good with lots of choices. We will definitely stay here again.
We have traveled to the Wausau area for 35 years and never stayed at this hotel. We found the value to be the best. Comfortable beds, nutritious breakfast and the nicest pool in the area to swim laps in.
We enjoyed our wonderful Suite type room at this Best western! We could have easily stayed a week here with all of the amenities! There was even a larger refrigerator and a sink, cupboards, dishes, and more!! The breakfast had everything any one would want or need at the buffet! Location was quiet! There was a Denny's restaurant and another bar type place close by.
This hotel was great. It was right next to a water park and price was perfect for that location. We had a fish fry at Restorations Pub which was recommended by the hotel worker. It was good also. We were there for the fastpitch tournament.
We enjoy staying at this Best Western whenever we are passing through Central Wisconsin. We appreciate the high quality of service offered by all staff, the cleanliness as well as up-to-date decor and the amenities including a wonderful breakfast and new pool. We highly recommend!
Overall we were very pleased with our stay here. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the facility was very clean and the new pool and breakfast area were exceptionally pleasant. We did have an issue with the room having a king bed tight against the wall with no light or table on that side. We also found the explanation that they didn't have luggage racks because they had closets puzzling.
Overall excellent stay at the best westerns plus in wausau, wi . Great staff, great housekeeping, good breakfast, nice pool, close to everything bu still quiet, within 20 minutes of wausau, 15 from the airport, I lucked out
Just finished a 8 day stay at the bw. The suites are super nice. Lots of room.everyone that works there are very helpful.great breakfast ,has a nice pool and hot tub. Great place for business or pleasure. Will certainly stay there if in area.
Excellent experience and probably the nicest, caring staff I have ever met in the Hotel industry. Rooms were clean and had everything one would need on a trip. Price was excellent and no difficulties during our stays with Best Western.
We enjoyed our stay in Rothchild at the Best Western Plus. The room included a full sized refrigerator, a small stove and kitchen sink as well as dishes and utensils. The king sized bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean and well appointed. A full, hot breakfast is included with the price of the room. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
I have stayed at many Best Westerns and this by far was the best one I have visited. The lobby is nice. The rooms have a kitchen, a nice shower and the breakfast is very nice. The receptionist was very proud of his hotel. For the price it's a steal. Other hotels in the area that i have stayed at cost a lot more but are not as nice. A hidden gem for a business traveler.
I was not aware until this stay that Best Western offered a hotel at this level. The kitchenette and quality of the room were such an unexpected treat. I would seek out this business unit from Best Western again! The service from the staff at this location was far above average. The cleanliness of this location again was a terrific surprise.
Staff up front was very friendly and helpful, accomodating to upgrade rooms. Wonderful king rooms, kitchenette and stove, dishwasher, well supplied with dishes. Breakfast area was clean and dining room very attractive and comfortable. I love their brand of coffee, and breakfast selections included gluten free offerings
Convenient for lengthy stays - the king room I had included a 2-burner stove, a dishwasher, and a full-size refrigerator. Hot-tub and pool barely used, so I was able to enjoy it in peace and quiet. Everything was excellent - I only marked sleep quality down one because the pillows, although nice, were too thick for my liking.
I can't say enough about this hotel. It is a real gem. Always clean. They are extremely accommodating to the guests needs. Awesome amenities. Breakfast is wonderful. I can not think of staying anywhere else on our family vacations. I know I'll be in a place that feels like a home away from home. This is DEFINITELY A 5 STAR HOTEL.
Due to no fault of Best Western, our reservation was made for the wrong day. Our Staff member got us checked in and resolved the issue while we were in our room. His number one priority was our comfort. They do "Make Things Right" here. The room was spacious and came with a full-sized refrigerator.
Best stay we have had all year. Newer rooms with kitchenette, large bath, perfect score from "Mrs Picky" on cleaning. Every single staff person was friendly, and the breakfast was very good. Pool is very new and beautiful. Can't go wrong with this hotel, we will certainly stay here again!
We have used this hotel twice for team travel for a youth basketball team and the layout is amazing. The suites are spacious enough to socialize and the full kitchens with full size refrigerators are so nice!
Very clean, spacious and up-to-date rooms. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel offers a very nice continental breakfast with many hot food options and a large seating area. I would definitely consider staying there again.
I stayed here last weekend with my sons. We were in town for the WI bear hunters convention. The hotel was close to the convention center. The rooms were very clean and modern and large. We had a nice kitchenette including a full size refrigerator. 2 very comfortable queen beds. Very modern and clean bathrooms. The breakfast room is large and the pool area was very nice. When we checked in the staff was very friendly and helpful.
In town for state women's bowling tournament. Booked 4 rooms many months in advance. The rooms were spotless. After bowling 6 games we were so happy to find that the beds were very comfortable. Desk staff very accommodating and friendly. Pice was very reasonable. Will definitely stay here again when I'm in the area!
All aspects of a good experience at the hotel were met 100% and more: very clean, spacious, excellent breakfast and seating area, pool, price, parking, staff was friendly and helpful, Will stay here always and recommend to others. Window curtains were sheer, but that was the only concern.
As a consultant I spent more time than not in this hotel over a seven month period. The manager and staff could not have been more professional or friendlier. They certainly know what excellent customer service is. The rooms were quiet and comfortable and the housekeeping staff were amazing. The food was good and I enjoyed the well maintained pool and exercise room. All in all it made a long stay away from home very tolerable. Kudos to Nancy, Melissa, Phyllis, Kevin Dan, Anne, Kathryn, Kathleen, and Robert
Excellent service and such a clean hotel...Breakfast was delicious every morning! Really liked the free laundry services also. I like the fact that they are pet friendly. Enjoyed my stay and will stay again!
I am completely satisfied above and beyond my expectations. The room, staff, amenities were phenomenal. This will be my go to place when visiting here in Wisconsin. Don't stay anywhere else because this hotel can't be beat.
Our room was great, comfortable and fully equipped for a longer stay and our dog was welcome. BUT this ground floor room, 112, had only sheer curtains that allowed a bright light just outside the window to shine in all night with no way to block it. In the morning we found this light was on a wall aling a walkway; passers by could see directly into the room through the sheer curtains. This problem would be simply solved by pull across drapes OR. a pull down shade.
Stopped for a night and thought this was a great place. The area it is in, isn't much but the stay was so nice. Service at the front desk was wonderful and the morning breakfast was super. It had almost everything you could ask for! Seating area was enormous and you could see that people were actually happy! Loved it. Rooms were cozy and clean as could be! Quiet throughout the building and the linens were superb. There are some other hotels in the area but I doubt they are as nice as this! Nice parking area.
The hotel was very clean and comfortable to stay in. We enjoyed our stay.We have family that lives in Weston, and they came a couple nights and we all went swimming. The pool area was nice and clean. If need be I would definitely stay there again. The whole Wausau experience was just awesome, and the people are friendly too.
The room was nice, the drain for the shower was not. The pool nd breakfast were very nice. I believe the hotel will or has repaired the problem with the shower drain. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends. The value is good and the staff is exceptional.
This was an above average BW hotel. Great rooms, outstanding breakfast dining area with good choices, helpful and friendly staff. The room had 2 queen beds, big flat panel TV, full size refrigerator with ice maker, stove, dishwasher, etc. nice sized tub, and comfortable beds with lots of pillows. Next time I'm in the area, I will be staying here.
Hotel is located just off of I-39. Appears to be newer or recently renovated. Room was clean and offered modern decor. The bed was very comfortable and provided a quiet nights sleep. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
I found this location met my expectations. The staff was very friendly especially during check in and check out. My room was very clean and comfortable and very quiet. The facility was very clean. I was there for a sports gathering and would stay there again. The location was easy to find and get to as it is right off the expressway.
The room was large for a motel room and contained a recliner chair and 2 desk chairs. Lighting was good. Room was very clean and the breakfast filled us up with food we like. The internet was very fast and did not give us any problems.
When I booked the hotel, I didn't know it was fully renevated. The amenities indicated microwave and refrigerator in room. But the room had a full "mini" kitchen, including a full size refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, 2 burner stovetop, sink, dishes, utencils and pots and pans. Plus they have a free breakfast. I will definitely stay there again next time I'm in that area.
Room was exceptional - full fridge, 2-burner cooktop and microwave. King size bed very comfortable. Hot breakfast offerings - eggs, ham biscuits, assorted pastries and cereal options. We will definitely be back! Unable to use the pool this trip but the pool area was clean and water temp felt warm to touch!
Great Room, Kitchenette, Comfy Bed! Huge Breakfast Room, Typical Breakfast Items. Close to food and shopping. Close to Rib Mountain. Stopped here on our way to Door County WI but would go back again. If you are looking for a nice, clean place to stay check out this Best Western!
Lets start with the good things. Breakfast is the best of any hotel I have stayed at in Wausau. Good options--eggs that actually taste like eggs, waffles, etc. Staff was friendly too. The bad -- my room smelled like it used to be a smoking room and that they tried to cover the smell of smoke with a gallon of mens cologne. The bed was very old and lumpy and the sheets had been washed so many times they were worn out in places and had little pills (lint balls) all over the sheets making it feel very dirty even though it was probably clean.
Beds were comfortable, room was spacious, pool very clean. Breakfast was in a huge area - you werent waiting in a long line or bumping one another (like at other hotels) Staff were curteous. Free use of laundry facilities! Only negative is that it was a room with a kitchenette, and whomever had been there in the past left the room smelling of curry.
Extending our vacation a day after dropping our son off at Tesomas Boy Scout camp. We have stayed here before and I am sure we will be back again in the future. The pool is the perfect temperature and the whirlpool is very relaxing. The breakfast has a wide selection of food options. Thank you to the staff!
We are a fmaily of 7 and needed two rooms, it was great that they had connecting rooms and you can prop the door in between the rooms open and it's like a huge suite, bonus, you get two bathrooms and two televisions! So many positives: swift check in, clean rooms, clean pool and hot tub, beds were amazingly comfortable, very quiet environment. The only downfall was the quality of the free breakfast... Not a fan of processed, tasteless breakfast meats, potatoes and eggs. If you stick to toast, cereal, waffles and fruit, then you should be fine. Otherwise, our family was very pleased with our stay and will visit again next year during our annual ski getaway.
This BW Plus property is only about six-seven minutes from the Central Wisconsin airport. Makes it a nice place to stay when having to take one of those early am flights. Not fancy, but the rooms are large, clean, and the kitchenette feature is nice. No restaurant on site. Didn't partake of the free breakfast because it wasn't available before 6 am. Staff seemed pleasant. Only real complaint I had was not being acknowledged as a Diamond member.
Friendly staff. Finally, a nice large breakfast area. The pool/ pool area was a good temperature. The room was spacious and included a fridge, stove top, dishes, dishwasher and coffee maker. The lobby coffee was good coffee all day.
Rather unassuming from the outside, the rooms at this place were fantastic...very spacious with kitchen/dining area and complete appliances including a full refrigerator. Only there for one night, but would be perfect for longer/extended stays. AC unit a bit noisy when operating on high, but can be turned down to reduce noise for sleeping. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very nice complimentary full breakfast. All in all, a great spot close to highway access but without any residual road noise. Nice pool too!
Since this property has been taken over by Best Western, we have stayed here every time we are in the area. Rooms are spacious and clean. Amenities are plentiful. Easy access to interstate. Highly recommend!
This newly renovated facility is tucked away - not right on the interstate but easy enough to find. When in the area, we always stay here. The great things are the spacious rooms with kitchen facilities, the breakfast room, the pool, and the outstanding staff.
The bed was too soft for our taste but the hotel and room was clean. We did have to drive anywhere we wanted to go however there wasn't much we expected to do in Wausau. We never felt unsafe in this area and took advantage of the close restaurants.
Hubby and I stayed here one night while he had business in Wausau, WI. We were upgraded to a suite that had a kitchen, living area, and separate bedroom. Hubby stays here often for business and Nancy takes good care of him. The king size bed was super comfortable - had a great night's sleep. The hotel is conveniently located to a couple of restaurants, once of which we met friends for dinner and drinks. The included breakfast was especially nice and included scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffles, and more.
We stayed at this hotel for a very short night in order to make a 5:30am flight at CWA. The check-in was super fast and clear, and I appreciate that. All the rooms are suites, so you have a full fridge, two stove tops, dishwasher, microwave and sink. That would be great for business travelers having to stay for extended stays. Room was clean and toiletries were better than most hotels.
A colleague and were visiting customer location and this was one of the places I picked to rest our heads. Nice hotel and the room was well appointed. Breakfast was a standard US stay breakfast with a good selection and fresh. I will stay here again when in the area. Keep up the good work.
This was a new motel for us and we did not know what to expect. We were very happy with the facility including rooms and staff. The complementary breakfasts are very good with a very large and well designed room.
This hotel is surprising in many good ways. It's hard to miss the Loggers Indoor Waterpark and the exterior of the Best Western looks really cheap next to it, but that offers a sprinkle of surprises when inside. The staff is nice, and the lobby is cozy. There is tasty coffee near a seating area and free computer station. There are a bunch of outlets which is much appreciated and the furniture is cozy and cute. The breakfast area is plentiful and the food is decent (the cinnamon sugar on oatmeal is very tasty). The pool is nice, a little larger than expected, and very clean. The rooms are suites which is nice. The rooms feel large and even though our room was not technically an "handicap accessible" room, the doorframe as were wide enough for a chair to fit through without a problem, and enough space between the tables and bed for a chair to move without rearranging furniture. There was a hand rail by the shower which was fantastic. I've never been in such an accessible room without it being specifically advertised as such. The pool was also the most accessible pool I've ever been to - props to this place! They had a clean water chair in case someone didn't want to use the stairs with rails (which for most people is also already more accommodating than most pools). Perfect pool for Marco Polo if you're the only group inside :) Hottub has a cute little color changing light. At first was a little irked that the hot tub jets turn off automatically after 15 or so minutes, but was glad to be forced to move a little if we wanted more time. Pool water was a nice temperature (still a little cold at first, but very easy to adjust to). Appreciated the free fruit! They actually have tasty fruits and good coffee (free often means gross, but not here!) Very quiet hotel which was nice. Plenty of parking too. Close to Arbys if you like that. Great area to go for a quick jog and there's a small movie theater and grocery store within walking distance. Would definitely be happy to stay here again. Tip: you do need a car if you're staying here. Also, don't go to the Green Mill for food. It's like a pretty, glorified gas station. You're paying a lot for just meh and convenience. Go the extra distance for Olive Garden. Biggest complaint: needs larger garbage cans in the rooms, and there's definitely a smell in the hallway, by the laundry room and in the fitness center. Nothing intolerable, but definitely noticeable. Could be just a bad cleaning smell, but could also be body odor too. Not sure. But the rooms don't smell like that so its only a temporary issue. Otherwise great hotel.
First time stay at this property based on business travel. Most reviews are accurate. This is newer hotel with nice rooms and a functional style. The focus on this hotel is functionality with all suites and many rooms with kitchenettes, and average common areas. The lobby is very small with just a few couches and work table as the common area. The pool is bigger than most hotels in this class and the hot tub was functional. The 'breakfast' room is the biggest common space on the property, but was only open for breakfast. The focus in on the rooms. I had a king with kitchenette. I was an L shaped room with a small work desk. Kitchenette was a full fridge, microwave, two burners, dishwasher, and plenty of plates and dishes. Rooms was well stocked with towels and bath items. I stopped at breakfast one day. Typical offerings for a mid level hotel with plenty of carbohydrates, juices, and coffee. The front desk did also function as a mini store with individual drinks and snacks for sale. This seems to be a great hotel for groups, sports teams, ski trips, or week day business travelers. If you want to be in and out or enjoy time primarily in your room, this is a great stay. If you are looking for something more intimate, cozy. or more common areas then I would suggest looking into another property. Updated, functional, clean (borderline sterile), and a strong value.
This hotel is the place to stay! The staff are so friendly and helpful. We felt at home during our stay. The room was very comfortable. We thought that being filled up for the night may be noisy--it was not. We got a good nights sleep and had a great breakfast in the morning. The location is off the beaten path, but worth the drive. It's in a quiet area. We will be back when in the area again.
This hotel offers large rooms (suites are also available), full size refrigerators and microwaves, a full hot free breakfast, modern and clean accommodations, a new pool area, a welcoming lobby area, and free laundry facilities. Staff was AMAZING and price was right! We will definitely stay at this hotel again if we need to stay in the Wausau area.
This was for a last minute planned trip. Most hotels were booked for the holiday weekend/area basketball tournament. I was fortunate to call at the right time and get this hotel due to a cancellation. Pleasant surprise. Very nice room. All rooms have a small kitchenette. The bed was very comfortable. The teens said the pool was very nice, perfect temp and not smelling/feeling like major chemical overload. The room/halls were very quiet. I would have never guessed the hotel was fully booked.
We usually stay at Stoney Creek because this place is usually booked. Stoney Creek is nice but these rooms are bigger, nicer and cleaner. They just look newer. The breakfast is included and is the normal waffles, bagels, cereal, microwave oatmeal, watered down juices and milk cartons...not unlike any other hotel free breakfasts so nothing to rave about but at least it's included in the room rate. The cost isn't bad being under $100/night and we got to bring our dog for another $20/night so that was good. I'd much rather bring him along than have to put him in some pet hotel. The beds were comfy and the pillows were plush. It's really close to Granite Peak so not too far of a drive. The staff was very friendly and pleasant to communicate with. The wifi was included and very strong signal throughout the hotel. Basically the hotel met all of our needs so we'll try to definitely book here again the next time we ski Granite Peak.
Hotel is clean, housekeeping certainly the best of all hotels including mariott, hilton etc. Breakfast needs more vegetarian items. Manager is always smiling and ready to assit, coffee and tea at the reception helps.
Great experience good breakfast nice pool good exercise room all staff were wonderful price was comproable to others in the area. Staff all excellent that I came across. paperwork was great and so was the reservation process
This was our third visit to Wausau and we decided to try something different on a busy MLK holiday weekend. The Best Western Plus in Rothschild exceeded our expectations on both nights this weekend. As others wrote, rooms were clean and quiet, breakfast was good and plentiful, the pool was great for the kids. What set this B.W. above others was the exemplary staff under direction of general manager Nancy Schauer. What a tight ship Nancy runs! I don't usually consider Best Western to be a 5-star hotel chain but this one deserves that label. Very well done to Nancy and her entire staff! Thanks for the great stay.
We have stayed here 2 years in a row for one night. Both stays were excellent. The staff was very helpful and our room was clean. The pool was great for the kids, and the breakfast was very good as well. Would recommend this property.
Nice hotel with comfortable rooms, Newly renovated pool area with hot tub, breakfast, internet, coffee all the time. Exercise room & free guest laundry -- great for drying your wet ski clothes! Quick access to Granite peak & Nine Mile Recreation area for skiing.
I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at the Best Western Plus in Wausau. The staff were very accommodating to our early check-in request, and treated us so nicely despite having to work on Christmas Day. The hotel we recently re-done, so everything was nice and new. The room was large and had a kitchenette with stove-top and refrigerator, which really came in handy. Pool was fun! Great stay.
Very nice hotel with great coffee in the lobby. Staff was polite and friendly. Really enjoyed the room, comfortable bed and good towels. I had a few issues with the breakfast. Overall, I enjoyed the stay and will go again.
We loved staying at the Best Western Plus. We love the spacious rooms and bathrooms. The rooms were very clean. The breakfast area is huge and the food was delicious. We love the variety of foods offered. We discovered this hotel last year on our trip home to visit family and will continue to stay here each time.
This hotel must have been recently updated. Friendly staff and huge breakfast area with decent breakfast fare. Had 2 rooms. One king suite with living room and king in bedroom with 2 TVs. The other room was 2 queen beds. Both rooms had a full kitchen. Clean and good location. Would definitely stay again
WE stayed two nights on this trip and everything was clean, well prepared, the staff was pleasant and we will stay there on two subsequent trips. The hotel is a little out of the way so you need to take a circuitous route to find it but it is very worthwhile.
One of 11 motels we stayed in on 2 week trip. Clean room, comfortable bed, and friendly staff. Convenient to surrounding places of interest. Good value for travel. Would stay here again. Easy driving distance to other cities.
My husband and I travel all over the midwest, and we are always looking for the right property at the right price...and this time we hit the jackpot! This Best Western is A+ in our book! For less than $100/night we were treated to a room with all the little things that make for a really comfortable stay. To start with, the kitchenette's cabinets were actually stocked with useful items, like a cutting board, pots & pans, micro-safe glass cookware, dish soap, paper towels, and salt & pepper, along with the usual dish service. The room itself boasted an actual cork message board WITH pushpins, a comfortable chair, a full-size laundry basket, and plenty of hangers. Normally king bed rooms are a bit skimpy on size, but this one was spacious. The bathroom had a reasonable amount of counter space, plus a shelf for all a girl's mystery lotions. The pool and hot tub were IMMACULATE, and just the right temps. The breakfast/lounge area was gigantic, and breakfast was well-stocked with plenty of hot and cold choices. As a nice extra, the coffee area was separate from the food - no trampling small children waiting for waffles as you try to get your morning cup of joe! Staff was pleasant and helpful, location quiet but convenient...seriously, this place has got all the bases covered. We don't often get to retrace our steps in our travels, but we'll be making every effort to revisit this property!
Breakfast options were awesome. Rooms were clean and room. Bed was great. Location good, not to far out of the way and not to close to the highway or town. Staff was very nice. No charge for washer and dryer.
This Best Western Plus Hotel had excellent service and excellent accommodations. Excellent breakfast, gym, and pool. I have been staying there for the last 2 weeks and had no problems what so ever. I would definitely return again and recommend this to a friend
We stayed at this Best Western for the first time, due to my recent acquisition of Diamond status with BW. We were pleased to be upgraded to a 1-bedroom suite. The room was beautifully appointed with nice, comfortable furniture, a king bed, a full kitchen, and a separate room for the bath and sink. The room was spacious, well-lit, and very comfortable. The full-size refrigerator and freezer was an especially nice surprise since we'd stocked up at our favorite local cheese factory. We were almost sorry that we were only staying 1 night. With a room like this at this price ($98/night), it would be a great place to hang out for a longer stay.
This place is absolutely spotless! I was here for drill weekend and I have been stay at different hotels throwout Wasau/Rothschild and hands down, this is best place I've stayed. The lady checking me in was very nice. The room looked like it was never used. Plus I love the idea of the tiny kitchens in them. The bed is super comfy and the rooms smell clean. I will continue staying here every time I'm here for drill weekend. As long as they continue giving me my US government discount.
I thought this hotel was great! It had everything that I needed in one place. The room was cleaned. Loved the kitchen in the hotel room. It was handy for storing restaurant foods. The beds were great! They provide many services in one place. The breakfast food had selections that I liked. Coffee was great! I would definitely come back to this hotel again.
