Best Western Hotel Sycamore Inn, Oxford

Location near Miami good. No room darkening shades. Low flow shower. $350 w night rate is really excessive for this property even though college town. Happy to be walking distance to campus but rooms haven't been updated in decades.

Mr. Goodwin, I replied to your other review, and let you know we do have blackout drapes in every room. Our rates are in line with all the other hotels in Oxford as well as the lodge at the state park. We remodel our property in 2016. Happy to read you were able to walk every where you needed to be.

Each and every staff member went above and beyond to assist with our stay! I was traveling with my disabled, paralyzed mother as well as my critically ill, 130 lb German Shepherd Dog! The owner and her staff are ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!!

We only stayed one night for our son's freshman orientation at Miami but we didn't have any issues with the room, staff, or amenities. Requested extra pillows and got them. It's an older property but we'd definitely stay here again when visiting Oxford. Too bad they sold out on Family Weekend in October so quickly.

Although I believe they were short-staffed, employees were still friendly, competent, helpful, and had a positive attitude! Location on the edge of Miami University's campus was very convenient. Breakfast included a few hot items (waffles, meats) as well as yogurt, cereal, etc.

Great hotel. Was in Oxford for a Miami of Ohio campus tour and the hotel was pretty close to campus which was perfect. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Quiet and comfortable room too. Great Easter Sunday breakfast and coffee in the morning. The staff even put out some Easter decorations too. Outstanding! It was a nice stay. Thank you!

We were sorely disappointed with our stay here. Although the staff were attentive to fixing issues we had several. We had no heat one one room and we movies to another. The air was not working well in the next room -either too hot or too cold. The toilet stopped flushing and was subsequently fixed. We put our stuff in the mini fridge overnight only to realize it was not working. There is no elevator and we stayed on the 2nd floor. We asked for housekeeping after day #1 -when we came back the beds were made and nothing else was done. It is old and dated. We stayed here solely because everything else was booked. Sorry to say it is wildly overpriced and why the staff did their bed the place seems to be falling apart.

This was my first stay in a BW--in the past, we have stayed at Hueston Woods, the Elms or Hampton Inn in Oxford for Miami weekends. Everything was sold out for Mom's Weekend, so BW it was! Was pleasantly surprised at cleanliness, walkability, and size of room. Very comparable to Hampton Inn and $100 less per night! Free breakfast, great staff.

Always nice to be able to rely on this hotel for our Oxford visits. Easy walk to town and nice breakfast offering. Gym does have a treadmill, elliptical and bike. Service is very pleasant and friendly.

I stayed in the two queen bed room for 2 nights. (Rm 107) Clean comfortable with anything you might need. Nice breakfast & breakfast to go (more than just cereal and toast), night shift manager was very friendly & helpful! I will definitely come back...thank-you for a wonderful stay.

Sycamore Inn is located within five minutes to uptown Oxford in a very walkable neighborhood. I stayed for ten nights in one of the balcony rooms with a whirlpool tub. I had been under the impression that my room featured an actual hot tub, but it's actually a second bathtub with a couple jets, located next to the balcony door. It was still wonderful to relax in at the end of the day. I liked sitting on the balcony and admiring the wooden ceiling of the pool room which has a cozy cabin vibe to it. The bed was big and comfortable, although I would have liked a much thicker blanket instead of the several layers of thin sheets. The room was clean, and it was cleaned on day five of my ten-night stay, which i appreciated. The breakfast selection is fantastic and totally worth getting out of bed for. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Whenever i come home visiting the town i grew up in- I'll be staying at this hotel.

Clean, comfortable, affordable, reasonable breakfast options (more than just cereal and toast), and a special shout out to night manager, Curtis! Curtis was very personable and helpful. Nice to meet you! We will return.

The room was clean and comfortable. Pool was awesome for the kids (ages 7&9). It was nice having the restrooms inside the pool area and patio furniture was very comfortable. Awesome, responsive staff!

I got a room with a whirlpool tub. The staff graciously brought in a rollaway bed for my son. Our balcony was great, overlooking the nice-sized and clean pool. Wonderful place to drink my morning coffee. The beds were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even when they were short-staffed. The hotel is very clean, conveniently located and quiet. It was so nice to have a good Continental Breakfast back. Much recommended. I will definitely stay again.

Spent 4 nights here while visiting friends in Oxford. We booked the largest room, given the reasonable price. It was clean and comfortable. Cleaning was by request. Clean towels and additional soap, etc., was available on demand. All staff were friendly and helpful. As others have said, the breakfast selection was better than many other places offer at this time. I just wish the pool had been a little warmer. Definitely recommend.

Best Western exceeded my expectations so much that I added a few nights extra to my trip. The staff were superb; friendly, yet professional. The breakfast was a wide variety. If I had a need, they were quick to address it. The five minute walk to the lovely college friendly town was delightful. The area was safe and friendly-folks actually say hello and look into your eyes. Lord willing, I'll be back and definitely recommend Best Western in Oxford, Ohio.

Recently completed a multi-day stay. Very nice experience. Room was quiet and comfortable. Superb indoor pool. Breakfast offered several options and plenty of seating. Ample parking. Staff was always accommodating. Look forward to a future visit to BW Sycamore Inn.

Sycamore Inn is my preferred place to stay in Oxford. It's a short walk to High Street and the staff is super friendly and responsive. The amenities include a swimming pool and breakfast area. Great value.

Nice hotel in Oxford close to downtown. Usually better rates than others and they provide breakfast options better than most currently - not just a minimum grab and go bag. Rooms are a little dated but always clean. Very good for short stays.

Dropped my son off at school and stayed a couple of nights. The location of the property is perfect for anyone visiting Miami. Walking distance to campus. I had a couple of issues. The first room had a broken toilet but the staff immediately moved me to another room. In the other room there were loose ceiling tiles in the bathroom, which frankly I just adjusted myself. But it was a dated bath. All in all the rooms were clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, the COVID altered breakfast options were better than others I have had. So I recommend staying here, especially given the limited options in Oxford by Campus on busy weekends, etc.

Changed rooms 4 times. Room 1 - no TV physically present. Room 2 TV did not work. Room 3 bedding as not changed, crumbs and dirt were present. We arrived just before mdnight and wanted to get some sleep. Very disatisfied won't be staying there again. We should have been given a discount because of all the hassle. The staff was very polite and understanding.

Wanted to again apologize for the Tv issue and again let you know that we have issued you a credit for your stay with us.

I chose this property because it was a BW in Oxford and my conference was on Miami Univ campus. A/C and Internet were great...no maid service and could not fill up tub, so had to use shower only. Nice decor and bedding. Nice microwave and mini-fridge. Did not use TV. I was concerned about street noise because I was on side facing street, but it was quiet (and a/c was running). Breakfast has good variety for COVID situation. However, did not think it was worth $200/night.

Very friendly Staff, Nice and clean rooms, comfortable temperature. nice pool. Lots of free breakfast options! made to order waffles, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee. bagels and pastries.

Enjoyed our 3 night stay, hotel was very clean and staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good and the pool was a bit cool but still enjoyable. Hotel followed covid protocols. The property is a bit dated but it was quite and clean.

We were in town for a basketball camp. The staff were so pleasant and accommodating for us. The breakfast was very good and fresh. They accommodated our special requests as a team and were very helpful when asked questions! Great place!!

Hotel looks old and is a little outdated. Front desk staff was awesome. Breakfast was fine and the area was kept clean. The workout room was not very good. It is extremely small (Size of a walk in closet) with no towels, sanitizing wipes and dust under the equipment.

The manager was very helpful and showed us a room before we checked in. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Good breakfast choices. The pool temperature was a bit chilly but the pool area was very clean. We had an enjoyable stay.

This hotel is in a great location. It's close enough to walk to town, yet quiet. It's also really close to a fantastic walking trail! The staff were helpful and accommodating. The room I was in was older and the decor a bit dark, however it was clean.

Best hotel for the price I have ever stayed at. I highly recommend this hotel in the Oxford, Ohio area. Reception was excellent. Hotel management was extraordinary. Very clean rooms. Staff is friendly. Great value.

We stayed for one night to watch a golf tournament at Indian Ridge. The room was super clean and the bed comfortable. Check in was fast and friendly. Breakfast was waffles, muffins, bagels, fruit, oatmeal and microwave breakfast sandwiches. We would stay again with no hesitation.

Hotel is the most affordable in Oxford. Great location!! Staff is very nice and helpful. Other than just a few minor flaws, we had a wonderful stay. Tv didn't work but they fixed it right away. There were random items in the floors(chips, etc) indicating that the floors weren't vacuumed thoroughly. But other than that, the stay was good.

We have stayed at the Best Western Sycamore Inn in Oxford, OH several times and it's always been very clean, the staff is very pleasant and the breakfast is not fancy but it's good. It's just a few blocks from downtown. I definitely recommend staying here.

This location is probably the cleanest motel I've ever stayed in! The employees were super friendly and speedy with any requests we had. I never heard any noise from any other guests from their rooms and no outside noise either. It was really very pleasant and quiet. It's located close to tons of restaraunts so if you need a meal it's right down the road. Close enough for delivery also. The hot tub is super relaxing. My kiddos loved the pool. I especially liked it because the deep end was only 5 ft. I could watch them from the hot tub and not worry about them going too far. Breakfast could have been better but the coffee was bomb! Will for sure make this our overnight stay place next time we're in Oxford. :)

Front Desk staff member, Stacey, was very professional upon check-in. The housekeeping staff, Kobe, was awesome as the room was immaculate. The hotel General Manager, Kathy Butterfield, was very thoughtful and thorough with everything.

We stayed here for a college tour for our daughter. There aren't many options to stay in Oxford I noticed. There were literally like 2 choices but this was a good one. Rooms aren't fancy but very clean and comfortable. Honestly, I slept great and that says a lot. Beds and pillows were good quality. Free breakfast was fine and all day bottles of water, tea, cookies were great. Good location to downtown. Would stay again.

Hotel was centrally located in Oxford, close to all restaurants and the Miami campus. Rooms were clean and comfortable, breakfast was OK, and the Cardio room has 3 nice machines. I will use this property again on my next visit to Oxford

We stayed the night after dropping off our daughter at school. The staff was very friendly! Curtis was especially friendly and helpful with our late night check in. He's the type of employee you'd want representing your company!

This was a great place to stay while visiting University of Miami, Ohio. It was affordable, location was great, 4 blocks from town and campus. Very clean and comfortable. They offered free breakfast and coffee all day. We will definitely stay there again!

The Best Western Sycamore Inn is conveniently located if you plan to spend time on High St. in Oxford. And while the rooms have been somewhat updated, the rest of the hotel feels very dated. The carpet, the wall paper, the lighting - it all feels very 80's. Compared to other hotels in the area it is an affordable option, but expect to get what you pay for.

This Best Western was as good as any 4 star hotels I have stayed at. Check in was easy and even checked in early with no problem and no charge. Excellent. Pool and Hot tub open 24 hours a day which every hotel should copy. Cookies and USA Today and Waters in Lobby. Breakfast Bar was very nice. Room was clean and nice selection of TV channels including all ESPN stations and HBO stations. If you are doing anything in the Oxford area or at Miami U stay here. It is close to everything.

Upon checkin, felt very welcomed. We drive a long distance, and checked in at almost 11:00pm. They were great about the late check in, as the desk is manned 24 hours a day. Brittany was not only very helpful about the town info, (as well as about the University we were visiting), but super friendly and just genuinely nice! The pool and hot tub area was beautiful, and open 24 hours. We did not get to use this time, but definitely would in the future. The free breakfast had so many options! From bagels and pastries to bacon, fresh waffles and pancakes, omelets and more. Nice selection of fresh fruit, yogurts, and to go breakfast sandwiches. Even bottles of Almond Milk, which was great to see. One of the nicest hotel breakfasts I have had. If my son chooses Miami University, this will be the only place I stay when I visit!

A modest looking hotel with great customer service. We checked in at 4AM only to realize our shower did not turn on. We just traveled for 5 hours on the road and were exhausted and we wanted to clean up and sleep. Thankfully, Curtis from reception promptly relocated us to an identical room without delay. Beautiful facility. Fruit out for snacks.Quiet. Very comfortable stay after our Lady Redhawks basketball game. Many local restaurants available. Good price. Will definitly stay there again. Next time I will bring my bathing suit for the indoor pool.

Super friendly staff, easy in and out parking and very close to town and a great value. The pool and hot tub area was clean. Breakfast was full of options and hot coffee around the clock. A short walk up to High Street.

Second time in Oxford stayed here by chance the first time and by choice the second. Clean place with kind and caring staff. i Will be using this hotel many more times if Miami is the school of choice.

The management, amenities and location was top notch. Best option I've found in Oxford. You can walk to downtown or to the campus if needed. I'm not a swimmer, but there is a heated pool near the lobby and fresh coffee 24/7.

Stayed recently, first room shower head broken, moved to room #2 which did not have toliet fixed to ground. We decided to just ride the rodeo and suffer through. Check out and check in was below par and no recognition as a rewards member, no water no nothing. Oxford is expensive for what you get and this place did not deliver a lot. Breakfast was just ok.

From Bowling Green State University so I don't want to like anything about Miami/Oxford, but, this hotel was perfectly located, extremely clean, and the staff (from housekeeper to maintenance to receptionist) were so friendly. They went the extra mile with gift bags, starting breakfast at 5:30 instead of 6 (for swim families that needed to get to pool), and late check offered. Would recommend this hotel to anyone (maybe not Toledo fans). Say hi to Monica at front desk for me. She's a star!

Pleasant one night stay. Older hotel. Nice pool area. Breakfast was okay, the hotel was sold out and the one person working to keep the food stocked was overwhelmed. We were surprised when the local tornado sirens went off, as we didnt know what it was. The desk clerk acted like we should know what to do.

I lived in Oxford until two years ago, and returned in June to visit friends. The motel is older but in fairly good shape. My room had two beds and was quite spacious. It was clean and the air conditioner worked well. It did turn on and off during the night which I personally don't like but did a good job of cooling the room. It was irritating that the room wasn't made up until 4:30 on two of the days I was there, and about 3:30 the other day. All the staff were very friendly. The breakfast was the usual continental plus, in that there was always hot food available (which I didn't have) and the bread and pastries were fresh and tasty. The breakfast room isn't very large, so did become crowded some mornings.

Its an older hotels but clean and comfortable. Our son had a soccer tournament at Oxford community park and it was convinient. Lots of place for food nearby. Cons: Grumpy lady at front desk. Wish I know her name. Thin walls in rooms. This particular staff was not happy with multiple children from soccer tournament staying at the property. She sticked her head in one point, apparently said something to quiet down? even there were about 10 adults supervising them, no one actually knew who she was addressing to. Then a little bit later, she came in told everyone needs to leave because there wasa girl screaching in the pool. Claiming she did warn us and now we all had to go (about 10 to 15 kids in pool, and parents supervising). We took our kid back to the room and send him to bed (even that we got a call saying we were loud.. We were nicely playing UNO in bed to wind down and it was 9:30ish). That was ridiculous but we didn't want to arugue. Then my husband wasn't ready to go bed, so he went to the lobby area to chill by himself, he saw another group of kids swimming in the pool. If it's shut down, it needs to be shut down for the night or its very unfair. Pros: Great location, clean and comfortable bed and room. Smaller size of the room but that was all we needed for one night stay. My son enjoyed the pool until the front lady shut it down. Breakfast was great, many choices (waffle/pancake griddle, many fruits and pastry, cereal, bacon, omletts, yogurt etc) that was pleasant surprise. Also the employee during the morning shift was very sweet. My son went to get a bowl of cereal and had a trouble carrying back to the room as he put milk in the bowl. One employee actually carried the bowl of ceral and brought it back to our room with him. Our room was opposite side of the building from the lobby. Check in Check out was breeze and front desks staff was very nice and courteous. Althought there are many families staying in the hotel due to the soccer tournament, it was clean, quiet and convinient. I just wish the staff during evening shift was more assertive on solving problem instead. If she addressed the noise issues with all parents I am sure parents would have complied. It wasn't crazy party going on, or any lounder than any other hotel pool gets with children. We decided to stay in the hotel due to having a pool and location but the mood was dumpered as the grumpy staff abruptdly shut down pool.

She also told me about the grandparents that later came down to swim with there grand kids, she reopen the pool to allow them to swim, and then closed the pool again at 11:00pm. I stay at multiple hotels throughout the year and this wasn't the most amazing hotel but not the worst. Clean and comfortable. Older hotel that they have tried to update with some paint and a few new items. It definitely reflected the price. Even though it was older, we found it comfortable and quiet....even with a bunch of girls running around. The bathroom and room itself was super small but worked. If you like a lot of room, it wouldn't be a place for you. There was definitely some wear on the cabinets. The pool area was a plus with the size and views. It was interesting that some of the University students came to the pool half drunk and socialized with our kiddos. I'm glad our girls were in high school and not young. The hotel eventually kicked them out. The girls thought it was funny they has a bit of beer spilled on them. The breakfast was wonderful.....except the second day. They ran out of waffle mix and Stacy didn't want to make more. It took me saying that I would be posting it on Trip Advisor for her to “find” more and make it. I truly believe she didn't want to make more. She did make more but was not happy. Not good customer service that put a bad taste in my mouth. To find out later....our team members asked Stacy to make more waffle mix an hour before I did. Apparently it is true that she didn't want to make it. Overall it wasn't the most spectacular place but it was comfortable. I'm still disappointed in the breakfast workers. Sad that customer service was like this because there were so many good posts.

I will start by stating this was the last hotel and last room available in town after Hampton Inn messed up our reservation. Cancelled our room without Hotel.com's approval or notification. Turns our there is a reason our room was the last one available. It was very unclean - white spot stains all over the pull out couch, stains on the ceiling, a sticky substance all over one section of the floor, and we woke up with glitter dust on our faces - leading me to believe the sheets/linens had not been changed. Absolutely gross. We we given only a $40 credit to our $192/night bill for these poor conditions that the front desk was well aware of. As soon as I started to complain, they know immediately what I was talking about.

Mr. McClintock, I understand you were already upset with Hampton Inn before you arrived at our property, and you have every right to be, I would be as well, if they just cancelled a reservation without letting me know. So with that said, I feel we being your second choice, or your only choice, as we had the last room available in Oxford things were not in our favor to begin with. My staff listened to what you had to say about our guest room, and felt they made it right with you at check out!.

Positive, helpful staff, Curtis is a gem! Very clean rooms, hallways and common spaces. Well maintained pool and spacious hot tub. Included breakfast always stocked and lots of choices. Wonderful stay

Sycamore Inn is well located near the Miami University campus. The staff is polite and cheerful. The breakfast area is clean and stocked sufficiently. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The rooms lack USB ports for charging however.

My husband and I stayed here for our son's parents weekend. It was a good location, it had clean rooms, and friendly staff, along with complimentary breakfast. We could walk to all the activities. I would stay there again.

We just stayed one night, and had no complaints at all. The hotel is clean and comfortable, super convenient to Miami University, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a nice selection of breakfast items. I would imagine the breakfast area gets very crowded when the hotel is full (it was not full when we visited), but we didn't have any issues. Beds were comfortable, room was nice.

Hotel is very convenient to the school, which is great. Room was clean and ready when I arrived. For a small hotel, the amenities are perfect. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you are traveling from far away - remember to book early!

Met friends in Oxford. Other hotels were $40 more per night. This BW was very comfortable and breakfast was just as good as others. Room was all in working order. Property is a little dated but a very good value.

My daughter and I stayed at the Best Western Sycamore Inn for a college visit. It was clean, comfy and had a microwave and large mini-fridge. Less expensive than the Hampton Inn, it had a free breakfast and indoor pool. Close to the university and High Street. Very happy I went with this hotel.

This hotel has wonderful staff members who go out of their way to make the experience pleasant and care-free. I will always choose this hotel when staying in Oxford, Ohio! The location is perfect for anyone visiting Miami University as it's walking distance from the Main business district and very close to campus. Thank you for another perfect stay in Oxford.

Nice clean place near campus. Enjoyed the breakfast and how friendly the staff was to me and my wife. If I was going to a Miami football game this is the place I would choose. Walk across the stadium parking lot and you're at Yeager! Keep up the good work Best Western!

My family of five (two adults and three kids) stayed overnight on May 26th because we were attending a wedding in town. Check-in that day was smooth and the room (a standard with two queen beds) was clean and comfortable. The roll-away bed we requested for our oldest barely fit in the room, but we made it work by moving some furniture around. It wasn't a big deal since we were only staying one night, but I could see it being an issue for a family that is staying for a longer period of time. The kids used the pool twice during our stay (once before the wedding, and again after) since it was open 24 hours ... This was probably the highlight of the weekend for them! :) The free breakfast Sunday morning was great! We arrived toward the end of the service, but there was still plenty of food left for us to choose from and/or make (pancakes, waffles).

Exactly as reviewed. Very clean, good service, high value, inexpensive very walkable to Miami's campus and Oxford's uptown restaurants. We were there in the summer so it was very quiet. The pool is a nice departure from your standard hotel pool because of the wood look and large windows. I would recommend.

While this is an older hotel, the rooms have been upgraded and are very nice. We had a nice stay. the staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean and the location is great. It's just a short walk to uptown Oxford so we have stayed here a few times when we go back to visit.

This is an older hotel that has had a little lipstick added to make it appear newer. We stayed here for a soccer tournament and quite frankly, this was the only place to stay nearby. The staff are very nice even when talking with them on the phone. I can't say enough about them. Wonderful people. The management is top notch as I had a small issue that they quickly resolved. Previous reviewers raved about the breakfast. I would say it is nice but not awesome. I'm use to staying in higher star hotels that I pay much less for and have way better breakfast. But hey, you won't go hungry for sure. The common area is awkward and the pool is very small. Don't expect a bar or a great place to hang with your friends. It has a small breakfast lounge with 1 TV and some tables and chairs. The hotel is conveniently located near the main strip of Oxford. We saw lots of students walking around nearby. The hotel is a little secluded from all the downtown stuff but as I said close enough to walk to everything. If you travel a lot like I do, you would rate this a 2-2.5 Star hotel. If you are use to Courtyard by Marriott or Hampton Inn's, this won't be up to those standards just because of lack of amenities and it being an older hotel. The hotel does have newer hallway carpet and room colors and furnishings. The bathroom is awkward as you have to be almost sitting on the toilet for the door to shut. The shower and sink we newer with hot water on demand. This may be your only option when staying in Oxford. You'll get a decent night sleep at a higher than normal price. Enjoy your stay, we did but I can only rate average for lack of amenities. If I were rating the staff it would have been 5 stars.

Coming to Oxford, the Best Western is one of only a few hotel options. And, I wasn't necessary looking forward to it, because anytime I had stayed at a similar type of property, I had been solely disappointed. This, however, amazing — I had a wonderful experience. The staff is friendly, the breakfast is fully stocked, and the amenities are great. Each person at the front counter had a great attitude. One person I specifically wanted to recognize is Rene. She is the lady who takes care of the breakfast buffet. In my travels, I've learned to have low expectations of hotel buffets, as often, food/drinks are out of stock, coffee can be stale, and the environment is displeasing. However, at this Best Western, the breakfast is the real deal. I stayed at the hotel for four days and looked forward to breakfast each day. This, in my view, is because of the work that Rene does. She is courteous, kind, and humble, doing her very best to serve all the patrons. Overall, I'm very excited to stay at this hotel if I ever visit Oxford, OH again.

Location Excellent walking distance to Miami University - Stayed at for Make It Miami Day Service Friendly - a little goofy as there was someone checking in when I arrived, but there were two people working the front desk. After waiting at least 5 minutes, the other person asked if she could help me. Not sure why she didn't ask right away unless she was also helping the other person check in? She was friendly Rooms Basic hotel room, but clean and comfortable beds - pillows ok Food Nice complimentary breakfast. Looked good - waffle maker, fruit, yogurt…Since we had a free breakfast at the university we only grabbed a muffin and apple.

This hotel is in a perfect location and has the best staff. Everyone is friendly and genuinely want to make your stay one you will pleasantly remember. It is a lovely hotel with comfortable beds/rooms and provides a great breakfast. If you get the chance to stay here, take it!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice and clean. Everything from check-in to check-out what wonderful. It is the perfect spot to stay when visiting Miami University. We will definitely be back!

The staff is top notch - I needed a last minute room and the general manager was incredibly helpful and gracious. The hotel is close to Miami U., very clean, and well managed. Great for families traveling to Miami U for graduation, visits, etc.

I had a great room, and that staff was so helpful. The GM helped me book my room and was so friendly. This is the place i always stay when i travel to The Oxford Ohio. It is in a great location and close to the campus.

This was a difficult time for my family as we were gathered in Oxford for a memorial service for my sister who had recently passed away from breast cancer. The people at Best Western gave us a place to meet and have other family members and friends from town join us. Thanks to Kathy Butterfield, General Manager, Kathleen and Cody. At breakfast time, we had a wonderful time with Linda Sweet, who helped us out a lot. You guys are the greatest!

The staff could not be more accommodating and wonderful. The rooms are large and the beds very comfortable. You cannot beat the location. Breakfast is yummy and presented so beautifully. If you are in Oxford, this is the place to stay!!

The staff are the nicest group of people I've ever come across on a hotel. Monica the receptionist is thee best. Rooms are clean and they attend to any issues right away. It is the only hotel I would stay at in Oxford.

We travel quite a bit for my daughter's medical needs, and at no other hotel that we have stayed at were the staff so helpful. It is a cozy and charming environment that served our needs just right. Not once did I struggle with my daughter's wheel chair and the door. The staff were all friendly and helpful and greeted us when they saw us. We will be coming back.

This is one of the nicest hotels my husband and I have ever stayed at! The staff was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was decent. We stayed here for a concert and loved that it was within walking distance so we didn't have to park my husbands truck downtown. This is a very safe area. We had no concerns.

I would recommend the conveniently located Best Western in Oxford, Ohio! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. The pool looked very inviting, but we forgot our bathing suits!

BED BUGS! Room 201 I woke up with bites on my neck, arms and back. When I checked out and told the manager. She took my name, number, and email and told me the general manager would call me in the afternoon. I never got a call. They didn't give me a receipt because they were going to discount my rate after the GM came in and email my receipt (even though I told her it didn't matter because my work pays my expenses). I never got an email either. Besides all that BS, the hotel is outdated. I'll update my post if I ever hear back, but I won't be holding my breath...

I immediately called the company that does our monthly inspections. They were here at the property within 20 minutes. They found nothing in the room, they inspected and did a very thorough check, pulled everything off all the walls, and found No signs of any insects anywhere. An economy hotel priced as if upper end. Hotel is banking on its location next to Miami University to maintain artificially high room rates. The staff at the hotel was very nice and helpful. HVAC in rooms need to be updated.

Thank you for taking the time to give us a survey, and thank you for the nice comments about my staff. We are the closest property to Miami University, however we are not the most expensive. We take pride in our property, and all the amenities we have to offer our guests. Four walking blocks to uptown, hot breakfast, 24 hour indoor pool and whirlpool, each room having a microwave and refrigerator, and so much more. We have our budgets prepared well in advance to allow us to operate the property in a fiscally responsible manner, part of the budget process includes looking at high demand weekends, and being next to campus each fall weekend is in very high demand. We have to try to obtain revenue during peak periods to cover us for those times of year when we are less busy. I have encountered similar situations at hotels, and in fact all other kinds of services, that follow this budget process. We hope we will have the opportunity to be your host again in the future. The hotel is very convenient to campus and the Uptown area. The room was comfortable, but somewhat dated. The pool area was clean and fun for the family. We especially enjoyed the friendly staff who made check in and breakfast enjoyable.

This hotel has the basics covered. Clean simple room, standard breakfast and friendly staff. Walk to downtown is handy. At half the price of other options this was a great deal. I would definitely return for this price.

This Best Western Sycamore was in a great location to everything in Oxford easy walk. We enjoyed the breakfast very much. The breakfast had a nice variety of items. The staff was extremely friendly and willing to help out in any way they could to make sure we were happy with the BW

We stayed here for a family reunion at Hueston Woods. The hotel is conveniently located to either enter the park on the side of the lodge or the side of the Nature Center. It is also within walking distance to central Oxford and convenient to the college. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I left items in the room after check out and when I called they promptly retrieved them and held them until I could return from Hueston Woods to pick them up.

Spent the night here with my sister after attending a wedding. Would definitely stay here again. Very nice facility and friendly staff. Only reasons I didn't rate it 5 stars: crowded parking; and a mix-up with my reservation that gave me only 1 bed instead of the 2 I'd asked for, so I had to sleep on a rollaway bed crammed in among the furniture. Hotel was totally full so no other options that night. But Guest Services Supervisor sought me out in the morning to try to make amends.

The Oxfrod Best Western front desk team lead by Monica is the best in the business! Close to campus. Check in a customer leave as a friend. Reasonably priced for a town with minimal choices in this college town.

Such a great option for parents of Miami students. Super friendly staff and clean, functional rooms. Hotel is steps away from campus. We have stayed here twice so far and each time, the staff has been very helpful with choices of restaurants in Oxford. We will be back!

I stayed for three nights at the Sycamore Inn while my house was being painted. (I actually live in Oxford) Making the reservation online, using the Best Western website, went without any problems. Checkin was smooth, although the young male clerk lacked a welcoming attitude. My first-floor room was near an exit, and had two queen beds, small desk, small microwave, frig, and large-screen TV. The room and bath were very clean. The AC worked perfectly. I did not use the pool but it and the area around it looked attractive. The breakfast was the usual, with cereal, do-it-yourself pancakes, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, bagels and small danish, juice, etc. The people at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating, with the exception of the person on duty at check-in. My room was very quiet - no issues with noise at all. All together, a very pleasant stay while I waited for my house to be painted!

Nice motel near Miami University check in staff amazing friendly and flexible. Room was great size. Didn't try free breakfast. Only complaint would be that the back building door(s) sometimes don't lock all the way unless you push them in and felt unsafe if someone can get into building without a key... would still stay here when visiting!

Great for an overnight stay while enjoying the college town. The pool was open 24 hours. There was a mini office area for printing maps, but the host was more informative than the internet. Clean and quiet! Breakfast was a typical free breakfast but then the hostess went above and beyond to accommodate a nut/sugar allergy. I would definitely stay here again.

Okay hotel for Oxford, OH. Close to Miami University. Clean hotel with basic continental breakfast. Updated common areas (lobby, pool, breakfast). Microwave and refrigerator in room. Room bath area (sink) needs updating.

There are very few hotel options in Oxford. This was an old motel with 2 floors, no elevator and very dated. There were not convenient placement of outlets although the room was acceptable. The staff were extremely nice, friendly and polite and are the reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 2. The price however was awfully high for what you get but once again, there are not many hotel options in Oxford. Breakfast was mediocre and I had never seen a gravy dispenser before. Once again, the best thing about this place was the staff.

Thank you for the nice comments about my staff. I will share them with my whole team. I was sad to read that you feel our hotel is very dated, we just remolded a year ago, and have updated everything, from the lobby to breakfast, to all 61 guest rooms. We have never had an elevator at our property, so next time your travels bring you to Oxford, please request a first floor room, so you don't have to climb 12 steps. Not sure what you were looking for as far as breakfast? We go above and beyond with the Best Western standard breakfast, people really compliment us on our waffles, pancakes, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, and above all the Bob Evans gravy. I don't understand your comment about outlets. After our upgrade, we added outlets at each of the nightstand lights, TV lamps, as well as the desk lamps. Six more outlets for each room. You mentioned not many places in Oxford, I will agree with you, however let me explain a little bit about Oxford hotels, and rates. Being in a college town each weekend is at high demand. I've also encountered similar situations at hotels, sporting events, plans, and in fact, all other kinds of services that come into high demand during certain periods. While this may not seem fair, I know as a hotel operators we have budgets prepared well in advance to allow us to operate the properties in a fiscally responsible manner. Part of that budget process includes looking at rates that might be higher than typical for weekends, or special events. When taken on the average with the rates at other times, the overall picture is what needs to be taken into account. We have to try to obtain revenue during peak demand periods to cover us the those times of year when we are less busy. I trust this response has been satisfactorily addressed the concerns you have, and we hope we will have the opportunity to be your host again sometime in the future. Our skating club recently stayed at BW Oxford OH. The hotel staff was so great, especially Monica. She was nice, friendly, and went out of her way to make sure your stay was perfect. She even asked how our skating team did in the competition - which we won! Hotel and rooms were clean, staff was wonderful, couldn't hear noise from the room next door. Plan to use BW for our next visit.

We arrived to visit with our granddaughter who is a freshman at Miami University. This location was very convenient being walking distance to the campus. It was convenient for shopping and restaurants.

Have stayed several times during college visits. The location is in town and very close to campus. Hotel and rooms are clean. The staff is wonderful _ they provide great service, are professional and friendly.

A very comfortable hotel where the staff really do treat you like family. I have never had a stay in a hotel before where they were as friendly and as helpful as the employees at this hotel. Beds are comfy. Bathroom was a little on the small side, but it let you do what you needed to. The popcorn in the evenings was a nice addition. We did not use the breakfast bar, the conference we were at provided breakfast for us. Pool looked very inviting and we did dip our feet in the hot tub. With limited hotels in Oxford this one is one you should try. Very close to the university and Marcum center. Uptown is just a walk, uphill, away. Or a very short drive.

The Sycamore BW is a nice hotel within a couple minutes walk of downtown Oxford. It is located in a primarily residential area. I had a second floor room, That had been recently updated. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The pillows, on the other hand were not. The room's main door would benefit from privacy trim to block the light that shown around the entire door frame. There is a small indoor pool, that was clean and uncrowded. The hot tub was out of order. The breakfast was similar to most hotels in this class, a waffle maker, a few pastries, some cereal, boiled eggs, and a banana, juice and coffee. One I had not seen before was a Bob Evans gravy dispenser. On the second morning much of the breakfast food was not available, appearing not to have been replenished from the previous morning. Our stay was during a home MU football game, and to our pleasant surprise the was no excessive noise from rowdy fans. The tripadvisor prices are much lower than what I was charged, I think I may have been penalized because of the football game and a couple weddings. All in all I found the stay to be pleasing and would stay again without hesitation.

Stayed while visiting Miami University. Good front desk staff on check in and with directions to food and shopping in town. Good breakfast in morning with basic cereal, toast, waffles and fruit. Clean room, clean lobby and hallways. A bit noisy with some late night guests but somewhat expected in a university town. Would not hesitate to stay if in town again.

It's a comfortable , well kept hotel. Offers a good full breakfast, 24 hour pool and Jacuzzi. Walk to town. Close to all. A perfect fit for a visit to the town and Miami Univ. The double is two full size beds and not much other space so it's good for two but not very good for 3 especially if anyone snores!

The service during my stay couldn't have been better, Although this isn't a "luxury property", it was comfortable and clean, and the location is ideal. Rate is high due to demand in Oxford. Id say this would be a good choice - would prefer a more upscale hotel, but can't complain and the staff is very good .

Hotel staff was extremely helpful at check-in. Our roll-away bed was already in the room when we arrived. I believe the rooms are recently renovated and looked very nice. Wish the shower head was a little higher up, i'm not tall (5'9) and had to bend down to wash my hair. Cookies at front desk are a nice touch. Didn't use the pool at all but had a group of friends that did. Will definitely be returning here next year.

I do not understand what people are complaining about- The hotel is great, and the staff were very friendly. Read my other reviews- Perspective: I like to stay in more upscale hotels often, but this was 1/3 options for the area. It is in a small college town and there's about 180 to 200 or so total hotel rooms for it(this hotel included). So, yes they spike the prices when demand goes up..it's simple economics. It is a franchise location, locally owned. About the area: Do NOT believe your GPS/ google maps. There is not much here to do, there's a kroger and a handful of hole in the wall bars/restaurants, but alot more is located in hamilton. Your gps will say 25-30 minutes..I timed it door to door and it was a 15 minute drive to all the good places/restaurants. The staff was very nice- they all talked to me about 15-25 minutes each, and were very down to earth and friendly. I was in Oxford interviewing for a position, and they were very blunt and to the point about any questions I had regarding the area and surrounding towns. They were legitimately concerned when I told them about a few minor issues with my room(such as the alarm clock not working or a light bulb on a lamp blown out). The room was CLEAN and did not have any major mechanical issues. Yes the bathrooms are small, but how much time are you really going to spend in there? They had CRANKED the air conditioning (it was a really hot day outside) to greet me when I got into the room, so that was a nice touch. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean(unlike what previous reviewers have said). Only Con's I see to this place are: No Elevator(it's about 12 steps to the 2nd floor). Road noise if you stay on the west side (College kids think it's cool to rev up their loud muffler on a honda civic at 2 am).

We stayed after a day of shopping the 127 garage sales. This hotel deserves a 5 star rating for friendly staff, clean rooms, pool & hot tub & extras in room. Breakfast was pretty good & price not bad. If we stay again we will request a room on the first floor as the stairs were a little difficult for us. The only other problem was sleeping with the beautiful lights over the pool shining in the window. Overall a great stay. Happy to suggest it to others.

Close to campus, very friendly staff, clean room, and very nice breakfast. We've stayed 3 times now while taking care of details on Miami's campus. This will be our first choice each time we come back during the next four years!

Visited the area for daughter's college orientation at Miami University. Building is old but undergoing renovations. Room was super comfortable, clean and spacious even for a family of four, although there were just two of us who spent the night. Bathroom was not that big but shower head was invigorating with its gentle rain-like water drops. There was a microwave and a mini fridge handy for leftover restaurant food and for cold drinks. Breakfast was more than adequate, there was hot gravy for biscuit, a plus if you are looking for hot breakfast items. There were cold cereal, yoghurt, different flavors, cupcakes, Danish , bagel, white bread, oat meal, bananas, oranges, apples, hard boiled eggs, make your own waffle with all kinds of toppings. Coffee, milk, juice and much more. Evelyn, the housekeeper in charge of breakfast and housekeeping, was very attentive and kind to guests. Richard, at front desk, was very professional and accommodating with our request for a really late checkout. That afforded us to finish/complete all orientation sessions at the university without worries. It felt like home, we would stay again and again.

Very happy with everything at this hotel. Breakfast was more than I was expecting. Beds are very comfortable. You get a lot for the cost of the stay at a Best Western. Love this chain of hotels. Glad I can find Best Westerns in most cities I go to .

Been staying here for years while visiting my son at Miami University. Always clean, consistent and well priced. The staff is always friendly, polite and helpful, but recently went way above and beyond. I left my briefcase and laptop in the hotel and they turned the place upside down to locate it and ship it back to me overnight. Kathy and the team went way beyond my expectations to get me out of a bind and I highly recommend them and the Best Western Sycamore Inn.

The hotel is under renovation, which is good. It's a bit dated. That said, it's very clean and the staff are absolutely lovely. The breakfast is a bit pedestrian (cold cereal, some sweet rolls, juice, banana's, etc) but you're really not there for the food. Good solid college town option. Plus, the staff is just LOVELY

This was my first stay at the Oxford Best Western. The location was good as I could walk three blocks up the hill and I was in the center of "uptown". The hotel room was newly renovated and comfortable. comfy bed, good shower, and nice staff

Have stayed here numerous times over past 6 years & never had a complaint. Have canceled and rescheduled my stays without a problem. Staff very pleasant when one guest asked where the bar was (duh - it's a Best Western)!

Made reservations for Graduation May 13th - 15th and when I had called to confirm and add another room, they had lost my reservation. Luckily, when the manager of the Elms heard this, he found me a room as a frequent guest in Oxford. Still need one room and hotel has not called me back!

The rooms were recently renovated so they were much nicer than when I stayed a couple years ago. The location is good, not too far of a walk from uptown and campus. They have the sweetest and most helpful staff!

This hotel is very affordable and convenient to the University, which was nice for our early morning start of a full day of meetings, etc. The hotel is being renovated, so will be very nice when complete soon. Our room was renovated and very nice. Beds were comfortable. Overall, a pleasant stay and will probably try to stay there for future college functions and visits in the next four years!

I would only stay here if I was desperate only because they are renovating and still have the absolute worst exercise accommodations in Oxford, Ohio. They charge a PREMIUM for rooms whenever there is a big event on Miami's campus, and can't even sacrifice a bit of area to create a decent exercise room. it is literally a closet with 3 ancient pieces of equipment.

I just wanted to respond to you and let you know that we moved the fitness room to the first floor from over a balcony that was located in our indoor pool area, so this is definitely a step up to what we did have. The next time your travels ever bring you back to Oxford, please let us know and I can personally go pick up an Miami University Recreational Sports pass for you so you can use the equipment over on Miami's campus. As for charging premium rates, when you visit a college town on busy weekends, our rates due increase, due to the demand in rooms. Stayed here for hockey week-end. It was better than I anticipated. Room was clean, bed was very comfortable, breakfast was acceptable, staff was very accommodating. Bathroom sink is outside the bathroom, so if one is trying to sleep-in in the morning and another is trying to clean up, it's a little awkward. It's a college town, so I expect hotels to be a bit banged up and more expensive than in another local. If in Oxford again, I would recommend. I don't like many of the hotel options in Oxford, but this worked out well for us and I would recommend to others.

Stayed here the last weekend of January. Our room had just been fully renovated. Beds were comfortable. Wifi worked great. Front desk staff were really friendly. Breakfast was really good and fresh. This hotel pretty much located on the University campus so is a great option when visiting the U.

We were there for only one night but the lady who welcomed us was so kind and gave us all a bottle of water and told us the pool was open 24 hours. My son was thrilled! The personnel they have working there are all so friendly and helpful. They are under construction but the kindness of the staff made it unnoticeable.

They are currently in a renovation of this hotel so some of this may change. Sound insulation is lacking between rooms, the hall, and the floor above. Room fixtures need replacement. Breakfast was adequate, but no eggs/bacon/sausage. Seems to have a small but well-equipped gym and pool. In room-starved Oxford, it's an "meh" hotel that gives you a place to sleep really close to campus at a much lower price than other hotels. Hopefully, the remodel will bring this place up to par.

Through a major renovation, the Best Western Sycamore staff has been just wonderful! We are family to them and they to us. So every time we stay there it's like coming home. And the new beds are great!

The staff at Best Western Sycamore are what makes this hotel amazing. They are genuinely friendly and caring and strive to make your stay pleasant. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is a convenient walk to restaurants and nightlife near Miami University.

The title says it all. This location is perfect for a stay at Miami university. While the room, Breakfast, and staff are all satisfactory, it's the perfect location which keeps me coming back. You can easily walk to the game or uptown and don't need to drive. Even the dorms are easily accessible. Really can't go wrong at a fair price.

Spent the night here with my daughter and had a very good experience. The hotel is in the process of renovating and you would think that there would be more dirt and mess, there was not! It is very clean and well kept, good sign when a hotel is renovating! Close to everything and the staff was exceptional!

The Best Western Sycamore Inn has a fantastic staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful. When we arrived the front desk staff was very proud to tell us about the newly remodeled dining area.We were greeted each day by each member of the housekeeping team as we passed in the hall. The front desk was very helpful with all questions. During a local power outage the Maintenance man even offered to help carry our luggage to the second floor.

Stayed at this hotel for one night while at Miami Univ (OH) for a tournament. There were 3 guys in the room which was spacious and they were really good about getting us a roll-away bed. Great location in relation to the campus and a pretty good breakfast in the morning. Didn't get to utilize the pool however it looked nice.

Okay hotel if you're looking for a place to lay your head. However, I don't think the value is worth the price. Rooms are so small that the sink is in the main room. A musty smell is waiting to greet you in your room as well. Rooms come with a mini fridge and a microwave. Pool looks nice and the staff was friendly. It won't wow you, but if you need a place close to campus and you don't care about luxury, this place is tolerable.

Next time your travels bring you to Oxford, please give us another try- I know you will say WOW then. It's been a challenge to keep rooms open and rent-able while doing all our upgrades, however my staff is doing a wonderful job and I thank you for sharing your nice comments with me, about how friendly they are. Clean, new and extremely friendly, the Best Western in Oxford is an unexpected surprise. Great and expansive breakfast, beautiful pool, new and very clean rooms and the friendliest staff we've encountered in many nights of travel. The hotel is conveniently located to Miami University. Although the hotel is a little outdated, it was clean and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was the standard fare you would find at any other BW. For the price, this place is an excellent option for your visit to Oxford.
