Best Western Plus Hotel Mariposa Inn & Conference Centre, Orillia

We checked in for a couple nights stay while visiting friends in Orillia. The front desk person was hospitable and had our room keys ready quickly enough. We were in a ground floor room which looks like it had been updated within the past few years. Walking down the hallway you can tell that this is a classic older hotel and management must find it a challenge to keep it up to date and compete with all the other options in Orillia. The room was clean, The bed was not a pillow-top as advertised and was on the firm side, however the bedding was very comfortable. I like that this hotel has the lighter weight duvets and bed sheets. Too many hotels have those big heavy duvets which require you to set the thermostat to 65 degrees in order to sleep without sweating. The TV was quite large, with an excellent selection of HD channels to chose from and the WIFI was strong. The fridge was disconnected which was I didn't know when I put my food in there only to find everything warm the next morning. That was annoying. Anyways, the microwave and Keurig were a nice touch. The only negatives honestly were the lack of working amenities. The hot tub wasn't working. The sauna wasn't working. The pool is so shallow I think it is a safety hazard. Also at checkout I was charged more than what I booked the room for using the Best Western website. It was less about $10 difference but it bothered me that the final rate on the website is not what you pay when you leave. I didn't want to debate with the friendly lady at the front desk but it was a turn off. Bottom line is we slept good and maybe we would stay here again when visiting Orillia.

This hotel is not worth what they are charging. Was clean enough but for the price I was expecting more. Be prepared to pay through the nose for a breakfast that most come complimentary . The restaurant that is attached was the highlight, and I would go again to it in a heartbeat.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay. Loved the breakfast buffet. My kids loved the swimming pool.Well kept property. Loved that the hotel is pet friendly and there's an area close to the room to take her outside. Beds were very comfortable. Room was very clean. Will absolutely be back for another holiday. We chose this hotel from one of two options re reading about an Orillia overnight Getaway package - hotel, 3 meals, and a play. The package itself was well thought out and went smoothly. The hotel and its restaurant staff could not have been more personable and accommodating. The room was very nice and had everything we needed. The beds were so comfortable that I slept better than I have in a long time.

Hotel is very kid friendly the breakfasts are assume for both adult and child. Location near many restaurants eg. Kelsey's. Good green space and gazebo behind the hotel. Staff very nice and helpful, the Olive restaurant attached has a nice bar but limited menu at this time. I will defeatedly stay there again.

Rooms were dated and in need of some repair. Front desk staff seemed put out that I was disturbing them. A little enthusiasm goes a long way. Over the last 7 years I have traveled in Canada and the USA with work and the first impressions set the tone for the entire stay.

Best Western has raised the bar for VALUE in the industry. Great room, wonderful and friendly staff. Another great feature was how easy it was to book on line, due to my every changing travel schedule it was also easy to cancel or change my reservations.

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years but have not been in a while because of the pandemic. We are always satisfied with the service, location, clean comfy room and good rates. The breakfast is also very tasty. The to order omelettes are a bonus and the bacon is tasty! Unfortunately, we did not know that there is a huge landfill now just behind the hotel Property. We used to like to walk on the path behind the hotel but now we can't because the smell of garbage is Unbearable. We also used to enjoy staying here in the summer and sitting In the courtyard on a lounger outside the pool area. I don't think this will be possible because of the garbage stench from the landfill. We want to try the hotel again since we do enjoy everything else about this hotel. Hi

Overall our stay was pleasant. The staff were helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable whenever needed. Breakfast was great, we were a little disappointed that there was no waffles, pancakes or cereal for our little one. Overall great stay.

We stayed here during a dance competition weekend and it is always a great stay. Clean rooms and free breakfast. The Mariposa is our go to when in Orillia when at the dance competition. The beds were quite comfortable but the pillows were definitely not the greatest. But overall a pleasant stay.

Staff is always the most important to any stay. When the staff are great the stay is great. This hotel was quiet. It was close to restaurants and shopping. No need to drive anywhere. This is a pet friendly hotel and our dog loved it here. He felt very, very comfortable :)

The hotel is clean and friendly, front desk staff were friendly and helpful. They have the best continental breakfast eat-in as well as take out. I will continue to stay at this hotel when I have reason again.

Old, outdated, rude staff. Beds were comfortable. Took water from lobby fridge and was rudely told that was for breakfast guests. As I didn't use the so called breakfast I didn't think taking a water would be a problem.

Went for a hockey tournament. Rented one of the banquet halls which was great for getting together as a team. Rooms were far from the banquet room so we could blast our music and have a good time and not worry about noise levels. Staff was amazing.

Stayed here for three nights, came north to see the fall colours (an hour from our home) our room was very clean and spacious (king executive) an especially long shelling unit in the bathroom stored all our toiletries. Loved that it had a bath/shower combination. Due to Covid the restaurant had shorter hours only Thurs-Sun but you are surrounded by so many different eateries it didn't matter. Enjoyed the pool immensely.

Average hotel - nothing to write home about Pros - good location with lots of restaurants nearby - room was clean - COVID protocols were being followed at the front desk - hotel room window could be opened for fresh air Cons - older, dated hotel - noisy air conditioning units in the room - breakfast due to COVID protocols consisted of frozen burritos, cookies, granola bars, bottles of water - bathroom in the room did not have night light nor ventilation fan

As part of a wedding group, we decided to go with Best Western Plus to be assured of a trouble-free & enjoyable stay. Using a third party booking company (suggested for the wedding guests) made for a complicated & lengthy check-in & check-out. As several guests have the same surname, a careless error in cancelling a room caused for delays & uncertainty of even having a room after the wedding. We booked a month ahead, confirmed 1 wk ahead, again confirmed 1 day ahead & also the morning of check-in. On arrival to the hotel, anticipating an early check-in if possible into our 2 rooms & discovered we had only 1 room booked for 6 people! Both rooms were fully prepaid, but unknowingly 1 room had been cancelled. At 11pm after the wedding, did we receive confirmation that we would have a room to sleep in. (Hotel was fully booked, we were told!) On arising, we received a hotel statement under the door with a full payment charge on our credit card! We had fully prepaid for 2 rooms one month prior through Weddingwire. Senseless time was wasted at the check-in & check-out trying to resolve this calamity of errors. Front desk clerk was exhibiting frustration & confusion & gave us a feeling of guilt for the mixup. “Wear your errors” The hotel itself is an old refurbished Best Western, tired but entirely adequate for our stay. The swimming pool was huge & we enjoyed our morning swim. Breakfast was in lobby to be taken to your room for eating.( frozen breakfast sandwiches, muffins, burritos & cereals, oranges, juices & yogurt…sadly, they ran out of yogurt at 830am!) An ok stay that could have been better. Wasted time dealing with the booking confusion.

We had our wedding at Best Western PLUS Mariposa Inn and we cannot say enough great things about this place. With having to postpone our wedding twice, and having to leave our originally planned venue a month before the wedding, it was a stressful time to say the least! But we now see that as a blessing in disguise, because the Best Western staff and venue were truly amazing. We worked closely with Ruth, who was extremely organized, informative and accommodating throughout. The venue was flexible with our options, and they truly made us feel like they wanted to help us through the planning process make our special day a great one. In the end, we were able to have a beautiful outdoor ceremony in the gazebo, and a gorgeously decorated indoor ballroom dining area for our reception — just what we wanted! All staff that worked the day (from the front desk, servers, hotel staff, bartenders, set up/take down staff) were so friendly, and so efficient throughout. Cannot forget, kudos to the chef for an amazing meal! Highly recommend Best Western PLUS Mariposa Inn!

This hotel is a very old property that is truly showing its age. It needs updating in a lot of areas. Breakfast was frozen sandwiches that you had to microwave and the coffee was not very good. If there is another Best Western in Orillia, i would recommend that you go there.

When we arrived in our room there was a juice box laying on the bed half a canna Coke on the dresser and a used plastic cup. The most disturbing was soap with hair on it left in the bathroom. We were very disappointed!

Pool in past stays has been lovely. This time I stayed for a week and during Covid... pool had hair, bugs, finger nails and towels (inside pool in the water) and drawing attention to it with the front desk was futile (no response). You couldn't see the bottom of the pool.

Dear guest, Thank you for your review - Few week ago- We experienced a mechanical issue with our pool circulation pump. The pool was immediately closed until the water clarity was established, thus the pool was out of order for about 36 hours.

I will never stay at this place again. Dirty coffee machines in room, unwilling to offer clean machine, but did offer the dirty machine in the main lobby. Front desk staff in the early morning was not helpful at all. They were rude and very bad language barrier. Too many people sticking their hands in the complimentary breakfast of muffins etc,, even not staying customers were taking bags full of the morning offerings,, not considering the clients that stay there.

Thoroughly enjoyed using pool and sauna. Went to the restaurant in the building and it had the best brisket we have ever had!! The maple bacon ceasar drinks were also to die for! Rooms clean, good stay!

I booked a room for a family of 4 and our dog, advertised on booking.com site as 42m2 big. Actual room was a standard room 28m2 and when I asked about it, I did not get even an apology or promise that this will be fixed so other people will get what they pay for. They said that hotel does not have that type of rooms. Very disappointing! We paid for American breakfast for 2 days (56$) and what they offered was frozen burrito and frozen muffin - no juice or milk or anything else, both days the same.

Prior to COVD-19 brekafast was $ 10.00-$12.00 per person. Starting March 2020, we decided to extend complimentary bagged breakfast for all guests. Each bagged breakfast will have healthy options. Granola Bars, peeled fruit, Muffins, croissants, juices and a sweet snack. I'm surprised to hear that you were charged $ 12.00. Police, in plain clothes, allowed to roam and party wearing no masks in the halls and throughout the hotel. Staff knew and did nothing about it. As there were numerous people in the hall outside my room partying mask free I suggested to the front desk we call the police and her answer was they are the police. Unbelievable

Had another great stay at this property. All staff are always excellent and make you feel like family. Rooms are always clean and comfortable. We held a meeting on site and it was catered by the in house restaurant .The service and food were excellent. I would highly recommend this property.

Stayed for one night on a trip through to Nottawasaga. The hotel is showing its age a little bit in places but it was so clean and well kept! Front desk at check in and check out was friendly and helpful. Absolutely no problem getting a cot, which I am told by my teenage son was comfortable. Lots of towels in the room. Blow dryer worked well. Pool was big and clean. Sadly hot tub and sauna not open due to COVID. I would certainly stay again. The bagged breakfast was a great on the go item. Water, juice box, granola bar, orange, croissant and cookies.

Have stayed here before, conveniently located, reasonably priced, decent size rooms, clean, comfortable. This time there were 4 small problems, each of which would not be worth mentioning but added together were rather irritating. The microwave was not plugged in and the outlet was behind an immovable dresser so I had to pull it out and plug into an outlet by the floor, rather awkward. The TV remote didn't work, the shampoo bottle was empty (which I discovered while showering) and I found a long black hair in the tub - definitely not mine or my spouse's. I intended to speak to the front desk person but she was involved with a customer issue that seemed to be taking a long time. I did phone the hotel later but just got voicemail and I detailed the issues in the customer survey that they send but have heard nothing back. These issues are easily resolved and I would stay here again.

This hotel matches its description of 3,5 stars. Rooms are nice and spacious. Hotel itself is quite outdated though. Pool was quite dirty as people do not wash themselves before entering it and I could see tons of sand all over the button. Water is quite cold too. Jacuzzi and sauna are not working now due to COVID restrictions and no breakfast either.

Starting March 2020, we decided to extend complimentary bagged breakfast for all guests. Each bagged breakfast will have healthy options. In the pool area, we do have two separate change rooms with showers for guests, most guests would have showers in their rooms before entering the pool. Pool was too cold and clumps of disgusting feeling sand that looked like peeling paint and felt awfull decided not to use pool and went back to room bifold closet did not close correctly and rubbed on carpet one adjustable light that was supposed to shine in only small location like for feading a bookin bed did not work

In Simcoe and Muskoka district, pools were closed for over 45 days due to COVID-19 restrictions, after we opened the pool we had few mechanical issues and the pool was closed for a few days. At this time pool is functioning. However, Sauna rooms and the Hot Tub's are still closed in Simcoe and Muskoka district. Our goal is to make sure that everything is a guest room is 100% working order, we are sorry the closet door had come off the track while you were staying at the hotel. We hope to serve you soon!

Under the circumstances today, one would expect a slight decrease in the quality and level of service. However, the Best Western in Orillia was incredibly top-notch. This hotel will always be one of my top hotels to recommend. Thanks to everyone. Stay safe.

Great service and clean rooms. The beds are also quite comfortable. The pillows on the other hand were quite lumpy. The price was a bit high for a Best Western though. Did not expect to spend over $200 with tax for an Orillia hotel.

I rent five rooms for my family and every room was very clean and the beds was comfortable. I wish the pool was a little bit deeper but overall a very excellent hotel to stay at. If I have to come back to Orillia I will be back at this best western.

Great hosipality at this location.The hotel is well maintained. the restaurant food is well prepared and the servers are pleasant and efficient.Ckeck in and ckeck out is fast .All staff are pleasant and are professional

We didn't stay here but decided to get tickets for their New Years Eve Dinner and Dance Margaretavile. I have never been to a buffet style dinner that served French fries, rice, macaroni, mini hamburger, deep fried chicken(thighs). The mix was terrible. First off our table was never called for dinner secondly, who ordered this concoction of garbage. After paying $110.00 per ticket we were all dissatisfied. We could have gotten a wonderful dinner for $660.00 total. One of our friends was sick during the dinner. My husband was sick after the dinner it was a terrible mistake to spend New Year's eve at this event.

Visiting elderly family during the Christmas period was difficult but the BW staff made it as pleasant as possible. Good food, ample parking and within a short walk to the car rental, and other restaurants.

I would recommend this hotel as reasonable priced and comfortable. I visited on the coldest night of the year and was grateful to have a well-functioning HVAC system with touch control panel that kept me warm through the night. The front desk staff was welcoming and efficient. I enjoyed the breakfast in the onsite restaurant -- $7 for the bacon and egg breakfast cooked to order is a bargain compared to the nearby fast food competitors.

This location was a last minute decision. I was towing a small trailer and needed to ensure I could park easily, in a safe location, on my way home. The property had plenty of well lit parking and being close to OPP HQ, was very safe.

We froze all night. Reporter issue right away. Was given a small space heater that wasn't strong enough to warm up room. After being moved from our original hotel without choice. Not to mention the hotel was full of a loud girls hockey team roaming around all night unsupervised.

Unfortunately had the bad luck of staying at this BW for one night as the place was packed with hockey teams. There were sports teams agreement signs posted all over the hotel. The hotel even had “security”?????. When we returned from a Casino Rama at 11:30 low and behold the “security” was outside having a smoke and as we returned to our room on the second floor the hallway was filled with kids and some parents drinking. At 12:30 I finally called the front desk and the noise was finally address. All the hotel could offer was some sort of an apology. Why bother having”security” when they don't do their jobs. As a BW Diamond Plus member it was my worst stay at a BW property in the last 2 years.The room was average and way overpriced for what I got. Also there is no breakfast included in a price a rarity at a BW property. Next time we attend something at Casino Rama we will drive the 2 hours back home instead of staying in Orillia.

3 guest attended the restaurant for breakfast. The eggs were cold and undercooked. Staff was overwhelmed articulated that to us. Many supplies needed for the meal was not supplied. The pool is waist deep and you were unable to swim. We were also given a room that was designated for guest with pets. There is a smell of dogs in the room. I would suggest verifying that you are not placed in a designated pet room. Vending machines were not working. Front desk staff were very nice and friendly.

Hi Stacey - breakfast has never been included at this property (but the other Best Western includes it in their rate.) Many sites say breakfast is available, not that it's complimentary. We're very sorry your food was not up to par, I will be discussing this with the Food and Beverage staff. With regard to the pet friendly rooms, if we know a guest doesn't have a pet and they booked the room in error, we will move the guest to a standard room. If we are completely sold out, we advise guests that we only have pet-friendly rooms left, as we aware many people have allergies to pets. All rooms are cleaned thoroughly upon check-out, regardless.

We stayed here for one night while in Orillia for a friend's birthday celebration. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room very clean. There were plenty of towels supplied in the bathroom. The staff here were friendly and efficient. We had breakfast in the on-site restaurant, which proved to be quite good. We didn't use any of the other facilities (pool, etc.) so I can't comment on those. Overall, a good experience.

The Best Western Plus Mariposa Inn is close to everything you may want to do while in Orillia. You can walk downtown in 20 minutes, go on a trail or go to Casino Rama in under 15 minutes. The grounds are awesome, lots of greenspace to sit outside, weather permitting. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Was provided initial room at the door and across from the ice machince, not acceptable for pet friendly room. Alternative room provided was a smoking room as strong smoke odor. No other options so kept the smoke room. The tub was rusted, still has carpet in the rooms. And Noise was an issue as no designated smoking areas and many chose to smoke outside the guests rooms and that was a nuisance despite being a distance from the door people smoked outside guest rooms laughing, talking and disrupting guests from their many smoke breaks. Noise issue on Saturday from 1:30 am to 3 am and despite calling front desk it remained an issue. The high over price for a pet fee is unacceptable as it is $30 per night and typically it is $15 per night. The pool was nice however the high rates, rusted tub, old carpet in rooms do not make this a pet friendly location and the noise not being addressed is an issue as one can book guests for weddings, parties in a cluster area to not disrupt other guests, poor room allocation for guests. As well, smoke odor is apparent some guests continue to smoke in rooms. Needs a designated smoking area as most areas you must be within a certain area of the building. Also a landfill along what was once a night walking trail as such odor from the landfill and the trail is not as enjoyable to walk

The decor is showing it's age but its clean. Overall a very clean room and facility. Staff have been great. It's been quiet at nights. I have not used them but there is a pool, hot tub and fitness room on site. There is a restaurant connected as well but did not eat there. I'd stay here again as it's conveniently located and of course clean.

This is our favourite hotel in Orillia, and believe me, we have stayed at most of them! The staff are all friendly, welcoming, and efficient- especially Michelle, Patricia and Catherine during Check in and Check out. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The BEDS are my favourite as we find them very comfortable! The restaurant onsite has delicious food and there are many restaurant options on the same street making this an excellent location. It is also only a short 15 drive to Casino Rama! We are looking forward to our next stay already!

I reserved a room with two beds and arrived to find that my room had been given away to a random customer. Instead, I received a single bed and a cot - with NO discount of any kind offered. The room itself was fine and the hotel was clean, but it was quite a surprise to lose my reserved room with no offered compensation. Organization is lacking.

We spent 2 night here as part of Orillia's Sunshine Getaway promotion. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We were very satisfied with the room. It was clean and comfortable with lots of space and the bathroom was clean and in good repair. The dinner and breakfast which were part of the package were quite good and the service was very friendly but a little slow. Overall, our stay met all our expectations and we would definately stay here again when in Orillia.

This was a nice 2 storey motel style hotel with an interior hallway. If you're looking for a moderate hotel to see an event or concert at casino rama, recommend booking early. Availability was limited at area hotels. This hotel was hosting a wedding and was fully booked. There are a lot of options for dining / fast food near by. There are multiple doors from the parking area so you can park close to where your room is located. Had the front desk call a cab to rama. The meter was $37 but the driver said it was a flat rate of $25. The other BWP is closer to rama but I'm glad we stayed at the Memorial location- more dining options. We had room 116 which was on the back side of the hotel; outside is nicely landscaped with a wedding gazebo and sun deck. Glad we were on that side and not the parking lot side. Very quiet. We had 1 maintenance issue, the tub didn't drain while showering. We didnt call to get it fixed since we were checking out. Otherwise a nice older hotel. I would stay here again but would try to get a location closer to rama first.

I have lost count how many years we have come here, it seems to be a family tradition, by kids have grown up going to this place. The rooms are clean and updated. The grounds are well kept. The pool is big. The hotel is in central area. There is a nice nature trail in behind to go for a walk. The front desk staff are so nice, and it was an easy check in and check out. I would recommend this place if staying in Orillia.

I stayed here last September and was generally pleased other than a couple of "hiccups" with noisy pipes. This time I came with my elderly father. The room was comfortable and spacious enough for my dad's walker. The room had two queen beds, which was perfect. We also had a bar fridge and microwave. The room and bathroom were clean. The hotel had a pool and fitness center, but we did not use them. There were a couple of families with kids staying in the rooms next door and across the hall from us. (There was a comic book convention happening the next day.) We could hear them through the walls, but fortunately they went to bed without staying up too late. We didn't get a complimentary breakfast here, as you do with some other hotels in Orillia, but hotel guests do get 20% off their food bill. Some advice I would give others is, if you're traveling with a person who is mobility impaired, then don't take a room at the end of the hotel near the gazebo. It was a bit of a challenge for my father to walk down the long hallway to the front of the hotel, and then down another corridor to get to the restaurant for breakfast. Get a room nearer the front desk. I think the hotel is a good choice if you're staying in Orillia and don't mind being a little further away from the casino. Best Western is affiliated with Air Miles, so being able to receive or book a room on Air Miles is great! I would definitely consider staying here again.

Myself, my husband and our infant son stayed three nights with this hotel. It was easy to get to from highway. The hotel appeared clean and updated. The staff was friendly. The hotel room was clean and quiet. Out sleep was uninterrupted from outside noise. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again. This hotel does not offer breakfast but has a restaurant on sight and many other restaurant close by for a meal or quick snack. This hotel adds a resort fee to your bill. Simply ask them to remove it at check out as it is not mandatory that you pay it.

Brief summary...booked at this hotel because our group was inntown for a kid's event (dance competition) and we were across the hallway from a patron who had a dog (did not realize this was a pet friendly hotel). Owners had left for the evening their adult german shepherd dog who barked continuously all night until the owners returned. Said barking kept my 11 year old up until midnight. Overnight manager said "there is nothing they can do" because they couldn't reach the owners. Manager the following day said "the family with the dog checked out so you can be happy to hear that" COMPLETELY unacceptable since we have to sign an waiver re: noise control, yet it does not apply to animals apparently. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Hello Ovilletraveller, The majority of Best Westerns, as well as many other hotels, are pet friendly, as we have come to realize pets are as much a part of the family as their two-legged counterparts. Having said that, we do request of pet owners that they not leave their pet alone in the room, as it is an unfamiliar space to them and can cause stress to the animal. I'm very sorry the owners chose to leave their dog alone. We did earnestly try to get a hold of the owners, several times. Another comfy night and service at Mariposa Best Weaterm. Second time here and had a wonderful stay and the Customers service was great. Patricia and her staff were very accommodating. The restaurant Olive and Grape has great food and service as well.will stay here every time I come to Casino Rama to see a show . Thanks for a much needed mini vacation .

Location is great. Not far from Casino Rama. 10 min drive. You can stay closer but pay a lot more. Don't get a room with a adjoining door. We were woken up by the noise from the next room due to the fact the noise traveled very clearly through the adjoining door.

The amenities at the Mariposa are not much different than any other Inn. The difference is the superb staff friendliness and helpfulness! This location is surrounded by eating establishments of all types. Close to Hwy's 11 & 12. I'd definately stay here again

The front desk attendant was awesome. Quick service, very knowledgable. They are pet friendly, gave us a doggie kit that included poop bags and a holder, name tag and some vegan dog treats. Bed covers had some permanent stains on them but the place seemed very clean. Bed was comfy, lots of pillows. Execise room and a pool. A little slow at plowing the parking lot.

I have never been in a hotel that there was hairs still in the washroom of the suites. Walls had spots of nasty look stuff on it. Pipes when having a shower would wake up he whole nieborough hood. Absolutely a disgrace never will I stay here ever again

This was a great hotel, we rented out the conference room tomorrow and it was very nice and spacious. The rooms were clean and proper, the staff is very friendly and quite helpful if I problem occurs. The only thing is the wifi sometimes disconnects and the pool was clothes on the second day!

Very unhappy with the respect of the lady at the front desk. We will not be staying here next year. the grumpy lady at the front was very rude. After a long day of traveling she gave us trouble for having some drinks. The room stunk like cat pee , the pool was good until the grumpy lady at the front gave us trouble again. Good morning, Thank you for your candid review. We did check our cameras and you had beverages in the common areas of the hotel, where we are not licensed. This includes the pool and hot tub area - there is a sign on the door of the pool which indicates no food or drink beyond that point. I know the holidays can be very exciting and everyone wants to relax with a drink, believe me, I get it. Stayed at the hotel for a 7 year old girls hockey tournament. All of our parents and girls were very well behaved with everyone in their rooms each night by 8:30 pm. On both nights security was extremely aggressive in their behaviour. On the first night we were given our first warning told at 6:15 pm that our girls were being too loud and congregating in the hall while everyone grab food which was being shared across a few rooms. On the second night at 8 pm as girls were coming back from playing games and crafts in parents rooms to go to bed we were given our second warring and that the police would be called next. Really disappointing experience. I understand that 7 year old girls can get excited at their first hockey tournament but I have never experienced the type of aggressive behaviour that I have experienced for a group who's girls were very well behaved and in their respective rooms each night at 8:30 pm. If you are a hotel who decides to take in multiple girls hockey teams for a weekend in November and the $10,000's of revenue please have a little respect for the fact that with this revenue comes with the likelihood that there will be some kids having fun and there might bit a bit of commotion. You are also welcome to turn away this type of business in the future. It shouldn't be the case that 7 year old girls are scared that they could be thrown out of a hotel in the middle of the night because some overly aggressive security guard thinks that children should not make a peep!

Very comfortable room with fridge in the room and little table and chairs to sit at. Enjoyed the hot tub as well and there is even nice patio area with tables/chairs and a gazebo - nice to sit out at in the fall as is very quiet. Walking distance to a few chain restaurants nearby but need to drive to get to downtown. Good sized bathroom with nice toiletries.

A friend and I booked a night here when we were attending a concert at casino Rama. It's been a while since I've stayed in a best western and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The thing that made this hotel, was the staff. The front desk attendants were extremely helpful and friendly. The check in was fast and friendly with good suggestions and recommendations provided about the hotel and surrounding area. The room was ok, clean and with two double beds. The beds probably need an update but were adequate for a one night stay. There was a small table, desk, mini fridge and new tv. It was perfect for a room shared with a friend. The price was very reasonable compared with the casino. There is a shuttle at a cost of $12.50 each way or a taxi is $25 flat fee to the casino. We didn't bring our suits, which was a shame because the hotel has a salt water pool, hot tub and sauna as well as a gym. Over all, a good value for your money.

Loved the room and the hotel was nice overall. Attractive and spacious rooms. Housekeeping was fantastic. Clean room every day. Appreciated the layout and felt it was spacious. Fairly quiet. I was beside the stairs so couldn't have expected silence. It wasn't an issue though. Only criticism was the technology issues in the conference rooms - problems with the mics everyday and sometimes multiple times during sessions. Staff tried to fix things but they kept happening. I've never seen so many issues in a conference space. The other comment that may or may not have been the hotels issue (could have been what our organizers paid for) was the delays and scarcity of coffee for breaks, etc. Maybe our group hadn't paid for bottomless coffee. Otherwise, I'd stay here again with my family if in the area again.

Check in/out was fast and easy, room was clean, pool was heated and warm - although the entire pool is "the shallow end". Internet worked fine as did the TV, water was hot, towels were abundant and clean. Some noise from the pool area on the first floor, a generally safe choice for the area.

Would have given 4 stars for the comfortable and quiet stay, but a hidden fee tacked on to my checkout statement, and the fact that their pool, sauna, & hot tub facilities are shared with the general public. I'm not a big fan of getting into a pool after a bunch of parents & infants too young to be toilet trained are either in the pool or just got out. The water aerobics group took up considerable space in a pool that is quite shallow, and occupied most of the hot tub. Having said that, if you don't intend to use the pool, & don't mind an additional fee of $4.00 (for "marketing") added to your bill, the hotel should be more than adequate. Beds are comfy, room clean, good selection of tv stations, 2 computers available in the business area for checking e-mail, etc., and complimentary toiletries make for an overall good impression.

Hi Wayne, We do rent out our pool to Orillia Parks and Recreation a few nights/mornings per week, other than that, our pool is not shared with public, I'm very sorry they inconvenienced you. I have removed the Marketing charge from your stay, I do wish you had told us at check-out, as we would have been happy to take care of it at that point. The hotel is located within a few minutes of Highway 11. They are located close to a number of activities within the Orillia area. The room is comfortable and relatively clean and quiet. The staff are friendly and accommodating.

This was a good place to stay. I especially enjoyed the on-site restaurant, the Grape and Olive Bistro. We had a great meal, the food and service were outstanding. I wish the swimming pool was deeper than 1.2 meters, that's my only quibble.

I stayed here for one night as I was attending a concert in Gravenhurst (only 30 min. away, and Orillia has a lot more choices for hotels). It was not perfect but it was generally comfortable and I would consider staying here again. The room was nice, appeared recently upgraded in terms of carpeting, furniture, and bedding. It had a small table with two chairs but no desk; if you were here for work (e.g., a conference!) then you may need to ask for that. The bathroom also seemed modern although there seems to be a mold problem where the shower tiles meet the bathtub (see pics). But the view I had was to a back garden with a gazebo where a wedding was being held. Very scenic. And the hotel was still quiet that night despite all the wedding guests staying there. I used their fitness room on this stay. Exercise equipment was in decent shape, although the stationary bike wouldn't give you an exercise program; the software seemed to be frozen. I used the elliptical/stair climber instead, which I enjoyed. The weight machine could use some oiling and tightening a couple of bolts. The only issue I encountered was a very loud drilling-like sound at 8am Sunday morning. I asked why they had construction going on so early, and they said it was the pipes, which they have previously had fixed. I did not stay for breakfast. The biggest plus: I got the room on Air Miles. It's hard to find hotels in Orillia that still participate in Air Miles because of Casino Rama, so being able to book a room on points was great! Overall, the combination of Air Miles plus a generally decent room and facilities, minus a few hiccups, equals 4 stars from me.

Nice clean property reasonably priced in a great location. They have meeting rooms on site and catering. also a great restaurant. Staff are all excellent. I stay at this property quite often as it has everything I need.

Can't tell you how beautiful our daughters wedding was at Mariposa Inn at Best Western in Orillia Ontario. Gorgeous flowering gazebo with hanging sheers. Great patio with bar , table ,chairs and umbrellas. 6 appetizer served. Dinner in the ballroom was delicious. We chose the prime rib, salad desert and coffee. Red/white wine on tables. The DJ Ken was simply amazing. Leanne the event co ordinate was top drawer, worked non stop. A simply wonderful experience. Thank you to all staff at this establishment.

The wedding and reception were held at the hotel so it was most convenient to stay here. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The staff was very courteous, friendly and helpful. There are a number of restaurants in close proximity in addition to the one attached to the hotel. If you are traveling with a dog, there is a lovely, level trail about 100 feet from the rear of the hotel.

Nice hotel on the outskirts of town older property but has been upgraded . Nice and clean they where sold out the night we stayed with no issue. Nice pool and grounds. They have an attached restaurant that looked nice.

The rooms are large and clean with a microwave and a fridge. The beds were queen size and quite comfy. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The pool is large enough but disappointingly shallow, 1.2m. The hot tub was all right though a little cooler than I would like, at least it didn't scald us. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but we did not eat there so can not comment.

Rooms clean and very comfortable bed. Staff were excellent! Shuttle to Casino Rama was very great no driving.Food in bistro was good but stained table clothes a turn off. Rugs need to be replaced stains everywhere. Hallways and staircases had a distinct odour. Would stay again for ONE night for the price paid.

We stayed for one night, mid week at the hotel after a day's outing at Santa's Village. The check in and out was speedy. The room was clean and very comfortable. It wasn't noisy at night which was helpful in trying to get to sleep. Staff were very helpful and made us feel welcome. We didn't get time to use the pool but it looked like a fun place. We had breakfast the next morning in the hotel restaurant as we booked with a breakfast package. The offerings were tasty (toast, yogurt, bacon, sausage, apples, and eggs). They were able to accommodate my daughter's celiac disease and provided her with gluten free toast. Overall, a most enjoyable experience and we would definitely go back.

Enjoyed a two night stay. Reception was cheerful, helpful, knowledgeable. Room was comfortable, fridge, coffee maker, microwave, clean, bed was comfortable with pillow choices. Lovely out back view of gardens and patio area. Pool is nice with doors to outdoor patio, great during summer. Also areas for sitting and sunbathing. Hotel has made a trail to connect with the Oro Mendonte Rail Trail, you can ride into Orillia and continue to Midland or head south to Hawkestone and on to Barrie. Location of hotel has easy access off/on to Hwy 11 and 12 south, 5 min drive to downtown and waterfront, lots of popular restaurants in area. Onsite restaurant The Grape and Olive opens at 7 a.m. for breakfast, offers lunch and dinner and has a nice bar area just off the restaurant, friendly staff and reasonably priced good breakfast (didn't have opportunity to try lunch or dinner). Hotel has fridge in the lobby with microwaveable food you can purchase which is a handy thoughtful offering. Great stay.

This is an excellent hotel if you are vacationing with your pet. We stayed there overnight with my dog a cockapoo. It was so convenient to take the dog out in the morning for a release . We were also located in a room close to the door The backyard of this hotel is huge and well maintained. Also thank you for the pet package . My dog loved the treat . I will definitely go back and stay again in this hotel . Maria

Stayed there for 2 nights. Staff nice, and the room is clean. Bed is okay. Building feels old. AC is loud and a bit hard to control. First morning there was really loud noise with plumbing (around 6am), second morning was fine. Restaurant in the hotel is super good.

The hotel itself is fine. It is clean and exactly what I expected. However, I had booked this particular hotel 2 Weeks in advance because it had a pool for my kids. Upon arrival there was a sign on the checkin desk advising the pool was closed for renovations. It did not say this anywhere at the time I booked. The front desk offered to to book me a room at another hotel with a pool. Unfortunately, They were all sold out for the night. Front desk also advised that the pool closure was on there website and had been for a while. I pulled up the web site on my phone and showed it to her. There was nothing. Had I known, I would have booked another hotel in there area two weeks ago. This was supposed to be a treat for my kids to get to swim. So very disappointing!!!! Best western ruined our weekend away!

My partner and I arrived quite late for check-in after catching a show at Casino Rama. The hotel was easy to locate through GPS and close to late night fast food restaurants if you need to grab some! Greg was at the Front Desk checked us in, very efficient, a lovely bright smile GSA, informative. Felt welcomed to the property. Upon entering room 210, I noticed a distinctive paint smell. I know on the hotel website, the rooms were recently upgraded. I'm not sure if it was that recent. It did bother me for a bit and was too tired to bring this up to front office. Overall, the room was very clean We didn't get a chance to experience the amenities at the hotel and hope to do so next time. Patricia did our departure and was very approachable and enjoyable to chat with. Though I only had encountered two staff at the hotel, they left a great impression behind. Not all properties you go to and receive a genuine smile. :)

Orillia's Hospitality Is Right Here! Thanks for for lovely review. We actually had to do repairs to our pool and paint it, that's where the smell was coming from. Hopefully next time you may enjoy some downtime to take a swim and use the hot tub and Sauna.

Really nice hotel, friendly staff. Had a small issue with “beeping” going off in my room at 3 am (every hour on the hour) but they attended to it quickly and removed the offending microwave ?? the restaurant on site was really good as well. Fantastic servers!

Our 20 year old daughter had to do training in Orillia so we booked this hotel so we had a midway point to meet up with her. Called and asked if she could have an early check in at 1 p.m. - no problem. The training was cancelled, so she ended up being dropped off at 10:30 a.m. AND THEY LET HER HAVE A ROOM! They also gave her information on the trails (right behind the hotel with TONS of wildlife) and things she could walk to near the hotel. There was no additional charge AND they said their policy is if there's a room available, they do not hold back rooms and welcome the guests at their earliest convenience!!! Nice gym, super friendly staff (gave us all the coffee pods we wanted). Location is perfect! Absolutely would return again.

it was fairly clean, a little bit pricey. Pool is small. The restaurant was pretty okay as well. We came to a wedding in Orillia, several of us stayed here. I would probably stay here again, it wasn't anything fancy but a good spot to rest our heads

We had a great hotel experience at this hotel. Great staff, great food and over all centre. Family used the pool and hot tub. Bring your bikes as you can catch the trail right at the hotel to take you to the beach or just a ride on the long trail.

I would stay here again. Staff were friendly. Only issue was very loud and rattling HVAC. My room was a bit dated, in need of new carpeting. I felt the room was dreary and a bit depressing but it was clean and smelled good. I wouldn't hesitate to use this facility again though.

Television reception sub par, lot of lag/buffering. Coffee service stocked with only one coffee, the rest was tea and decaf. No kleenex in room at all. Restaurant had good breakfast selection and service.

I usually stay at this hotel for business in Orillia... few times a year. Staff is always friendly and will go out of their way to help out. Rooms very clean and updated. Beds are amazing... always have a great sleep. Great location and right across from Kelsey's restaurant.

Great check in experience. Quiet room on the second floor. Lots of parking near the main entrance. Breakfast at the BW restaurant was very good and served quickly. We also ate supper at the in house restaurant and the food and service was excellent. Hope to return soon.

We stayed here for a hockey tournament and I will start off by saying the staff were very professional and friendly. However, we paid the same rate that teams paid at the other Best Western in Orillia but ours did not include breakfast. Kind of a pain when you have kids going to early games. Very strict rules and polices regarding socializing which meant going out somewhere every evening. We asked about renting a boardroom which we could for a price but we could not have alcohol in there. Kind of defeats the purpose. We have stayed at many hotels during many hockey tournaments over the years and this was by far the least accommodating. Also, there is a landfill right behind the hotel which gives off a pretty strong stench making it very unpleasant to open any windows or spend any time outside. Not our best experience.

Not for a team Stay, Thanks for taking the time to write a review to us. Unfortunately we do not include breakfast as we are a full service hotel with a restaurant on site. We typically do allow a board room to be used for groups but most of them were either set up for an event or hockey equipment may have been stored in them. Unfortunately due to our liquor license we are not allowed to have alcohol in rooms without a permit, which must be obtain by the guests. We are very strict about 11 pm no noise policy due to accommodating other guests in the hotel that would love to have a great nights rest. We really do try to accommodate all our guests. Yes we do have a landfill site behind the hotel, sadly I do not have control over that. I am sorry that you felt that our hotel was not up to your expectations. Unexpected stay over the long weekend. Hotel was quite busy with sports team and another event. Very much appreciated that the hotel placed us in an area distant from the comings and goings of the teams; this really contributed to a positive stay. Room appeared clean, was fairly spacious and the bed was comfortable. Staff at front desk were friendly and helpful. Was not impressed with the almost $5 tourism marketing fee added to my account on check out; this was not discussed with us when we were provided with our rates, so it was not a pleasant surprise. Were not able to eat breakfast in the restaurant due to the Easter brunch, but if we stay again, would like to give it a try. Overall, a solid choice in Orillia.

We stayed there while attending a concert at Rama. The hotel has a shuttle to the casino and is close to lots of amenities in Orillia. The staff was helpful and polite. The room was clean and no issues were seen. The restaurant had an awesome buffet on Sunday morning. The only downside is that the Buffett is a bit pricey, but the food is awesome! I'd go back for sure!

Great meeting facilities for groups of varying size. Friendly, attentive staff who went out of their way to be helpful. On site restaurant served fabulous food and nice wine selection. The desserts were out of this world.

I haven't stayed at this property in 10 years. The staff was great right from making my reservation directly with the hotel, to check-in to check-out. The room was fine, a little dark but all the amenities. Housekeeping was great, plenty of towels ! The bed was super comfy & I slept better here than at home! There is an on-site restaurant, pool & sauna & gym. A pleasant stay!

The staff here did everything to make my stay enjoyable. Andrea in the bar was wonderful but the hotel lounge closes at 9. I can see closing the restaurant but leaving the lounge open so people don't have to retreat to their rooms would be nice.

Had a good night. Bed was nicely made up and comfortable. No fan in the bathroom. Dated decor especially noticeable in the hallways. They have a great buffet that we unfortunately did not have time for on this trip.

my new husband took me to Orillia for a post wedding visit with my new in-laws. I was so delighted to be treated to a wonderful suite at the Mariposa Inn. The breakfast buffet the next morning was adequate, but not spectacular. The pool was a comfortable temperature, the depth is shallow enough to keeps parents from worrying too much about it being too deep for their children while they are swimming. The lobby was immaculate. There are lots of activities all around the area to see, Orillia is so historic and beautiful!!

Hotel was clean, comfortable and close to the hospital, restaurants and major highway. Staff was friendly. Check in was quick and seamless. TV signal was a bit of 'hit and miss' as the signal seemed to be freezing up. Could have been the weather that night as it was snowing really badly and very cold.

Upon arrival we were told that our confirmation number was not valid. Patricia (at the front desk) saved the day. She was personable, pleasant, patient and extremely competent. After some time, she discovered the problem and had it corrected. (It was not the fault of the hotel). Patricia was the most efficient front desk staff that I have ever dealt with. She's a gem in the crown of Best Western. The entire hotel was extremely clean, including the pool area as well as our room. The bed was comfortable, everything was in working order, and well maintained. Nearby are restaurants, fast food and a quick and easy access to Hwy 12. Every year we travel to Orillia, and we now have a "go to" accommodation. We'll be back.

On a night when the outside temperature was -24C (-12F) we just wanted to get inside and to our room to warm up - surprise The room was a chilly 18C (64F)! This cost cutting measure was not implemented with the guest comfort first and foremost. We froze for the more than 50 minutes it took to warm up to only 20C (68F) - not the 22 we had set - RIDICULOUS. We went our for the evening to the theater and when we returned to the room it was again back to 18C. If this kind of cost cutting measure is to be implemented the recovery time should be MUCH LESS. We are aware that many complaints were made because of the inadequate guest comfort. Otherwise the stay was fine, beds were comfortable and staff very friendly. After more than ten visits to this hotel we will never stay again.

Great place always clean, great friendly check in and received follow up text from manager asking how my stay was going and if there was anything else they could do, very nice touch.Dont have any negative things to say except one minor issue is in corner room, people were going out for smoking outside door and were loud and kept it up till about 4 am.

We love animals but were not told we were close to where several people were staying with their dogs. They barked and kept us up most of the night. Also it was minus -22 outside and the thermostat was locked to a max of 25C. As soon as the heater shut off parts of the room became very cold. I couldn't work at the desk beside the heater because it was too cold there when the furnace turned off.

Everything was excellent. The only issues I had was that when I had to wake up before 6:30 am the room had no hot water, when asked my coworker if he deal with the same issue it was yes. Maybe the hotel could turn the hot water on earlier then 6 am

A decent quality hotel and well worth the price. Excellent restaurant. The room was large and well furnished. My room on the second floor overlooked the garden and pagoda, with field beyond. Other restaurants are within walking distance and it is handy to highway 11, downtown Orillia and OPP HQ. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

This was our 3rd visit, this year, (2017) to the BW Mariposa in Orillia. Each time the staff have been very friendly and accommodating of any request presented to them. The hotel is conveniently located with a variety of restaurants nearby. A short drive away is shopping and cultural experiences like live theatre. Our first two visits we took in theatrical performances. This time was to spend a birthday weekend of relaxation. The pool at the BW Mariposa is very family friendly, only being between 1 and 1.2 metres deep.

water pipes sound like a jackhammer early in the morning as soon as someone decides to have a shower in another room. Heater never worked properly set at 71 never went above 68. Front desk staff was not helpful at all when being told about the problems.

The rooms are very clean and spacious. I have to say this is the only hotel I will stay at when I'm away. From the time you walk into the hotel and are greeted by the front desk to the wonderful lady at the continental breakfast you feel right at home. I like that it is not far from shopping and casino.

The hotel was great, bed was comfortable, the shower was great, we ate at the restaurant for breakfast and that was good too. There is a Kelsey's right across the street that was recently refurbished and the food was great. If you are going to a show at Casino Rama it's a little bit of a drive.

This hotel is located on the outskirts of Orillia in an area replete with fast food restaurants. There are many options available for food. The hotel is about 5 minutes from downtown and an easy drive to other local attractions - Barrie, Casino Rama etc. The hotel while older, is in good repair. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quiet and had a microwave and fridge. Our only regret is that it didn't supply a free breakfast however the attached restaurant offered a basic buffet for $8.00 plus the cost of coffee at $2.50.

Spent 2 weeks on business and leisure and stayed at this hotel. It is a Best Western so is a good quality but not luxury hotel. It is on a Main road that allows you to access anywhere in Orillia quickly and get to many area in and around quickly. Two floor hotel room in and L shape, lower number are by front desk which you have to walk past to access restaurant and conference rooms. Pool also by front desk. This mean easy access but noisier. There is sauna, pool and large hot tub all good. Number of families with of kids here as well. Room decent. Beds comfortable, each has 4 pillows with extra blanket and pillow set aside. Front desk people very good to deal with any problem or request they responded immediately. They even texted some of my group ensuring all was ok. Breakfast was included for us and served starting at 7. Again service was outstanding. This place puts an effort into customer service. Would recommend.

Highly recommend staying here. The room was nicely decorated, very clean and was thrilled to find an ironing board and iron in the room for my gown. Picked this hotel specifically for the pool, hot tub, and sauna. Worth it after a long travel. The outdoor area was pleasantly decorated with lounging chairs for the summer months. Nice restaurant. Situated close to the highway and many other restaurants. I loved the charcuterie platter that was delivered by very fast room service. It was quiet and safe. Has an elevator for anyone using a walker or scooter. Loved it!

Hello charlesprince212, I'm very sorry you were under the impression we allow prostitutes in our hotel. We do not and never have. We get photo ID and a credit card from all of our guests upon check-in. As for the smell of weed and late night noise, we do have security on when we have big groups in, so they can monitor these things. As I'm sure you're aware, if someone smokes outside, regardless what it is, that smell can follow them inside, especially as it gets colder and sticks to their clothes. Anyone who smokes in their room will be assessed a $250.00 cleaning fee, and it's one we don't hesitate to charge. I'm very sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. We and our dog needed a place to stay up in Orillia for a few days and the Best Western met our needs. Very pet friendly, rooms were comfortable (but bathroom could use upgrade), nice sized fridge, tv, decent little fitness room, decent restaurant and staff were very polite and helpful. Would stay again.

the service here is some of the best service I have ever experienced at any hotel.. the hotel itself is a wee bit dated nothing to complain about, easy access to restaurants and highway....used BW points and it was worth it

Stayed one night to go see a concert - very friendly courteous staff. Nice clean rooms - better than most hotels we have stayed at. Good value. Had stayed here previously consistently good. Excellent restaurant.

Very nice hotel for 1-2 night stays. Has pool. restaurant, small fitness center. Centrally located in the town. Quiet with helpful front desk staff. Areas to improve would be fitness center - some newer equipment would be nice. Other good areas include front lobby snack shop where frozen dinners can be purchased after hours if restaurant is closed. Onsite microwave can be used for a quick bite!

Considering no complimentary breakfast, the standard room charge $150 is pricy. There is no any other difference from other best western hotels in terms of room, facility and services. I suggest staying at the other best westerns in the region and this price will include complimentary breakfast..

We usually stay with BW but were attending a wedding and decided to stay with the block booked at another hotel. OUR MISTAKE! When we entered the other hotel, I was so disappointed that immediately contacted BW Plus Mariposa and asked if they had rooms. The front desk was so accommodating and lovely it was worth the extra $50./night . Everything about this location is lovely. The restaurant breakfast was delicious. We will be returning for both business and pleasure for sure.

Very good hotel stay with shuttle bus to casino yet close to all of what Orillia has to offer. Aeroplan pa rtner makes this an excellent choice for all travel destinations that have Best Western hotels.

We were visiting friends in the Orillia area, and traveling with our two dogs. Finding somewhere to accept the dogs was difficult. Mariposa Inn not only accepted them, but had little dog welcome packs that included pick-up bags, some treats, and temporary ID tags so we could write where we were staying and put it on the collars. The facility is clean, well kept. The room was a bit on the small side, but we did just fine. The dinners at the Grape and Olive restaurant is a bit expensive for every day use, but OH SO GOOD. I've had much worse meals at very expensive restaurants. Guests should try to budget in at least one meal there. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

My sister & I stayed at the hotel for one night when we saw Frankie Vali & the Four Seasons at Rama. From check in until check out, we were treated very well. They arranged our shuttle to & from Rama. I had made reservations at Theo's Eatery down the Rd, the hotel confirmed those reservations. Not overly big hotel, room very clean. The beds were comfortable. Right off the Hwy & easy to find. Very close to Rama, walking distance to Restaurants, Swiss Chalet right next door. Theo's Eatery 2 traffic lights down the road. Best hotel for the price in the area. Enjoyed my stay so much, my husband and myself have already booked to stay here again for our anniversary in just over 2 weeks. Would definately refer anyone to stay here.

it was one night family stay, rooms and washroom very clean, pool huge but shallow, whirlpool big and comfy, sauna was nice and clean, shower and change room in pool very good organized and clean, you have everything you need. Front desk was very friendly. Breakfast area the best one we have seen. They use restaurant for breakfast. Waitress very nice. Coffee was the best! Hot breakfast very tasty. Hotel was very quiet.

Beautiful hotel and all the grounds were very nice but needs a lot more for me to return.... Stay started out wonderful until a man tried to bust down my down saying it was his room ( this was at 1030pm and I was alone with my 7 year old daughter). Told him he had the wrong room. Front desk calls me a few minutes later ( her name was Michelle) speaking very rudly telling me that nobody is suppose to be in that room and who am I speaking too.... Apparently they didn't do their job properly and tried to give someone the room i was in as the earlier front desk girl didn't book it as occupied on the system. Was pretty freaked out and couldn't sleep ( if it wasnt for me having the other deadbolt turned, the man would have entered the room while we were sleeping). Fire alarm went off at 11pm because of a wedding going on ( no actual fire though).... Staff sent us all outside which is normal procedure. We were out there in 11 degrees weather in our jammies for almost 2 hours and not one person that worked there came and offered anyone a blanket ( yes all the staff was in and out of the building the entire time). They gave the entire hotel free breakfast which was nice. Now on to my morning experience...... Got to breakfast and got a table right away. Waitress got us our drinks but then did not return for about 20 mins to take our order (7 year old is getting pretty darn hungry at this point and with zero sleep it made it worse). After 40 mins we got our breakfast. We watched everyone that came in after us sit and eat and leave before we even received our food. Went to go ask to stay longer at the front desk. Spoke to Patricia to see if it was ok as breakfast took so long and all she could say to me in the most ignorant tone was " well thats what happens when everyone in the hotel eats breakfast" I was like " huh" you arent even gonna empathize with me to make any of our stay seem a bit better. This Patricia lady was terrible from the fist time we dealt with her in our way in. We went to say bye and check out an hour later for her to look at me and say " ok bye I'm done with you now" oh ya and the power in our bathroom was off as well....... Its really too bad as it is a beautiful hotel....

We have always received excellent sevice and the employees always go out of their way to make us feel welcome. We would never stay at an other hotel if there is a best western in the area. My wife and I travel to Orillia six or more times every summer and we always stay at the best western in Orillia.

We stayed at the Best Western & Mariposa Inn in Orillia as a part of the Sunshine Getaway package. We thoroughly enjoyed all that the package had to offer and the service and accommodation at Best Western was great. You need a car to get to the cruise, museum, theatre and Mariposa Market.

We stayed there for a family members wedding and it was beautiful and the staff was great, really nice place and good food and very clean. I would recommend it for sure. Next time I'm in Orrilla I will be staying there, lots of restaurants around and in walking distance.

nice place to spend a night .beds were comfortable easy access from highway.never use facilities like the pool so cannot comment on that ..only downside with having a restaurant in motel no continental or free breakfast ...

This is our fifth time staying here. My kids love the pool there. Check in was a bit of a stressful situation. I asked if I could pay debit, but the bank machine would not accept my card....the lady at the desk said it was odd for that to happen.....I couldn't understand why it was not accepting and saying I reached my limit.......so I called my bank and they assured it me it was nothing at my end so I went back down and again it would not accept. Long story short they ended up charging the room to my visa...but it was the lady the next day that said their bank machine was not working....why did the other girl not tell me that, it would have saved me panic and a call to my bank......other than that, the room was where we asked, the beds were comfortable, but the rooms are getting older, our bathroom door was very warped....and I found a bobby pin on the floor. We still plan on coming back.

We chose this hotel for proximity to casino and stayed only one night for a concert! We arrived late afternoon and were welcomed and quickly checked in by Kim ...Very friendly ,very efficient! Our room was updated and clean! Loved the kitchenette! It would have been perfect if balconies were available! We found the gazebo on property a perfect place to relax after our drive and enjoy a picnic dinner! Beautiful property with direct access to an amazing trail! Highly recommend taking bicycles to enjoy more of this trail in either direction. Shortly after checking in we Received a text from Greg from the front desk just making sure everything was perfect and if there was anything he could do! Nice service! We got ready for the concert and went to check in about the hotel shuttle! They run to casino beginning at 5:15pm and run every hour on the 15 until 11:15. Because we had just missed one we decided to call a taxi ( not realizing you needed a ticket from the hotel to return on the shuttle) After the concert we found the shuttle pickup with a long line and chatting with another guest found out then we needed a ticket! Decided to try a taxi! Taxi service in Orilla is very limited! I do not recommend counting on this for transportation later in the evening unless you are able to prearrange a pick up!? The next morning ,holiday Monday ,went to the hotel restaurant to enjoy breakfast! We were seated quickly and informed the buffet breakfast was no longer available due to time but we were welcome to choose from the a la carte breakfast menu which was delicious! Our server ,Jessie ,was very personable ,always smiling and chatted easily with us! She inquired into our day and made recommendations on what to see and do in the area! We found the service exceptional at the hotel! Thanks for a great stay!

We arrived for the Carlos Santana Concert Sunday afternoon, that weekend apparently there was also some street music festival in town. After check-in we headed over to Casino Rama for a nice meal before the concert. What a disappointment it was as the line ups to get into any of the restaurants required reservations or had line ups which ran outside the restaurants for 1 hour wait to be seated. Disappointed we just ate a sandwich across the street from the casino. But we thought we would make up for it by having a nice breakfast/lunch the next day at the Best Westerns Restaurant (which is serving breakfast/lunch and dinner) The next morning we headed over to have a nice meal (again) but the hotel restaurant closed at 10AM because it was a holiday Monday! So we checked out and headed to a old dinner which was recommended by the hotel concierge and again there was a line up from the inside of the restaurant out to the street. My Conclusion is that this small Town of Orillia is not equipped for a long weekend with such huge events and cannot handle the amount of people that want to eat out. As a customer if you are staying at this hotel over a holiday then don't expect to eat at the hotels restaurant any time after 10AM. Overall, I found the rooms outdated, the showers old and rusty, it lacked the nice ambiance that I was reading in previous reviews.

My husband and I visit here the same time every August, never a disappointment! The staff is very friendly, hotel is very clean and the grounds are very well maintained and beautiful! We use the back for many outdoor games such as bocce and croquet. A special thank you to Patricia, Catherine and April for making our stay that much more enjoyable. A perfect place for a couples quiet getaway.

We have booked a room at this hotel for 2 nights using reward program points during the July Canada Day long weekend. Prior to our arrival, we called to inquire about something and Patricia from the front desk was very pleasant to speak with over the phone. She was actually the lady who checked us in and also provided us with great service during our stay. Shortly after we settled into our room, I have received a text message from front desk manager Michelle to ensure we have everything we needed in our room. Another text message was received from Michelle the next morning to check on us as well. What a great touch!! During our stay, it was raining on and off, so we have stayed in our room quite a bit. We did not use the pool but have checked out the pool area and found ample lounge chairs around the pool area. Room was not fancy but clean and sufficient space to move around. Also, the bed was super comfy. I have to say that the bed there is even comfier than some other 4 to 5 stars casino hotels in Orillia/Niagara Falls area. Walking distance to Swiss Chalet and Harvey's from the hotel which was a plus. Everyone we have encountered during this stay was friendly and ready to help! Would definitely stay here again when we visit Orillia in the future.

Hotel is close to everything. Major roads, the water, restaurants and downtown Orillia. Very clean. Friendly staff. Pet friendly too. Large area for dogs.Trails close by for hiking or biking. Restaurant inside is very reasonably priced and good food.

Stayed one night and found the room clean and comfortable. Have to thank the front desk staff for going out of their way to satisfy. Very friendly and when I called the hotel to say we have left a coat on the front bench, they said they would run out and get it and it was there on our return. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. They had a shuttle that ran to Casino Rama where our concert was. This saved a lot of hassle of trying to find parking and our trying to navigate our way back to the hotel in the rain. Cost us around $20 round trip for the 2 of us. There are about 4 restaurants within walking distance that made it in convenient for us to get a bite in before the concert. We also took advantage of the CAA rate. Pool was nice but shallow (1.2m deep) which would be great if you had kids using it. Still enjoyed it and the hot tub.

The room was very nice and very clean. The heating/cooling unit was so noisy that we had to turn it off to sleep and the water pipes made a hammering noise in the wall. Water pressure went down during my shower so I think they need to update some plumbing. The front desk clerk told us they have been working on replacing the the heat units so hopefully that will improve.

Visiting for a show at Casinorama. Hotels were hard to find! We originally had reservations at another lower level property, but quickly changed to the BW once it became available. So glad we did! Great location. About 15 min from the casino, 5 min from downtown and the water. Rooms were clean, staff super friendly. There is even an plug for hybrids! Bonus.

Excellent value for the price. Staff were great. This time I used the restaurant and was very happy with the quality of food and the service. Hotel rooms were very nice. Some may think slightly dated but very comfortable. If rest easier with protection there is lots of it as the OPP frequently stay here. If you don't have a dog, make sure you confirm that your not in the dog wing or a room previously used by a dog.

general-post hotel survey, we did a summer sunshine gateway through the hotel, everything works out well, we had a good time we brought a friend -1 st time to the Sunshine Gateway package, she enjoyed the trip too., probably will come back next year , this is at least the 4th time we come here for the gateway package

Absolutely wonderful front desk staff, great value at this hotel, clean, quiet. I didn't use the pool however many of the other guests did. The rooms are clean, updated, good large TV's , I had a fridge and microwave in my room. This should be your first choice when comning to Orillia.

Stayed here 21 years ago and this time it was even better. Very clean, staff were friendly and went out of way to offer information about the area and local restaurants. The hotel is in a great location, not far from Casino Rama or downtown Orillia. Also very close to OPP HQ

This package is very enjoyable. The hotel is very clean & includes many amenities. The Sunshine getaway package includes a play, dinner, lunch and a boat cruise. Well worth the cost. Orillia is definitely a cute & quaint place to visit.

Everything was above and beyond. The staff were excellent and never failed to try say hello or try to please. The only disappointment was the restaurant and bar was closed on a Friday night at 9:30. However, we walked across the street to Kelsys so wasn't a big deal. Hotel and grounds are just beautiful and we will come back.

We booked this place for the weekend for a prayer retreat. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had the same server (Dawson) throughout the weekend, which gave the weekend a personal touch. The location was perfect, not too remote, with restaurants such as Swiss Chalet and Harvey's right next door (not that the food was terrible, but it was good to have options). The first day we had mashed potatoes, (amazing), chicken, and vegetables. For dessert we had the most amazing cheesecake (Cheesecake Factory worthy). The next day we had a BBQ with burgers, steak and fries. Patricia at the front desk was super friendly and took matters into her own hands when our meeting room had not yet been replenished with water the next day and I needed some for my medication. All in all, it was a fabulous experience. This facility has a pool and a small gym.

Rooms clean,staff pleasant. No continental breakfast-no coffee in Hotel Lobby. $10 for return shuttle service to Casino Rama. Average stay but would have like the Continental breakfast as room was expensive due to it being the long week-end.

Hi NancycS2887KO, We do sell coffee in the restaurant for our guests and we also have Keurig coffee makers in our guest rooms, which is why we don't offer it in the lobby. With regard to breakfast, again, we do have a full service restaurant on-site and would like to give our guests the option to purchase breakfast instead of hiding it in our rate. We rent a shuttle to offer our guests, the shuttle fee helps to offset some of that. We match our room rates to other hotels in the area of the same quality.

The hotel is clean, and the staff is welcoming. they provide a shuttle to and from Casino Rama for only 10,00 round trip. the restaurant menu is wonderful. It was the most comfortable bed and pillow i have ever had at a hotel. Slept like a baby.

Nice comfy bed with upgraded amenities in the room. You can tell it used to be an older hotel but was very clean and well kept. The rooms got noisy at night between car alarms and a visiting baseball mens league team until 2:00 am. We got up for breakfast, showered and went for breakfast but they closed in 5 minutes and wouldn't seat us. On a weekend they close at 10:00 AM????????

Stayed in Orillia for a conference at Lake Head University. This hotel was close to the University, the Casino and many places to eat. The location was perfect. The hotel staff were friendly and the room was clean. Definitely no complaints, what more could you ask for.

We stayed here for 2 nights while we visited family in Gravenhurst. The location was great, close to Hwy 11, numerous restaurant choices close by and a very reasonably priced restaurant on site. The hotel has direct access to a trail network on their very pretty grounds. Comfortable beds and linens and large televisions!

Pros: Nice place, very clean rooms and super comfortable beds! Cons: A friend staying as well had the suite with an attatched room and her 2 year old daughter got locked in the room, they called down and their was "NO KEY" for the pad lock on the door, so they had to get maintenance to come with a tool to get the flip over thingy off of the other door leading to the hall, her daughter was in the room by her self for 10 mins screaming, why there is no key accessible to staff is beyond me.

Hi ashleycQ3306LF, Thank you so much for your review. We have already contacted a locksmith to change the locks on adjoining rooms so we have a key for them. With the hotel being 50 years old, unfortunately the key was misplaced long before our new Head Office purchased the property.

I stay at this location at least once per week for shows at Casino Rama. The staff treats me and my wife like family and always has a warm welcome for us. we always look forward to our trip up - thank you especially to patricia and michelle

We arrived Saturday to a very friendly reception from Patricia. Our room was ready, bright, clean and nicely decorated. Then a text from a Teri asking if everything was satisfactory! Wow! Pleasant atmosphere! Then we walked over to Kelsey's for dinner. The next day while my daughter was at the OPP headquarters for the day I used the hot tub, pool and outdoor patio to enjoy my day. As I had to wait all day for my daughter, not only did Patricia extend my money ending to noon check out, I then did their Sleepy Sunday Che out. This meant I could stay until at least 4pm so this made my stay very relaxing! There was a wedding there and you never heard a thing! The next day people were accessing a hiking, biking trail out back! I highly recommend using this hotel for a weekend stay. 141$ is a bit pricey plus 30$ for the extra afternoon. I will stay there again if I need to. Thanks for the warm hospitality!

My husband and I booked a one night stay here for after our concert at Rama and it was nice. Comfy clean quiet hotel. It was only about a 10 min drive to the casino. We definitely will be returning to this hotel. We didn't have a chance to use the pool but was nice to hear that it was open until 11pm. I also received text messages asking how are check and stay was. That was a nice added touch!

Just returned from a weekend conference at this hotel and I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Rooms are large, clean, big screen TV, Kuerig coffee makers (take extra k- cups with you), microwaves, small refrigerators and other great amenities. The food in the dining room is fantastic and the food served at our conference was the same. One small problem - we were all housed on the 2nd floor and the ice machine was on the 1st! If you are fortunate enough to have Patricia O'Brien take your reservation and be on the front desk during your stay, you will have nothing to worry about!

I booked with central reservations for two nights, and was never told it was a non refundable booking on the call. My work travel changed and I called the hotel the day before check in and they told me it looked like i had booked it online with booking.com or a similar site and I must have taken a cheaper rate and it was non refundable. I called Best Western customer service and the first operator confirmed it was a normal booking and saw no reason why it could not be refunded. Then when I spoke the manager they said they would need to retrieve the recorded phone conversation, then they called back and said they couldn't find it, but the email I got said non refundable. I am a PLATINUM member and have stayed at this hotel before, yet they don't seem to care. The hotel was also sold out, I am sure they could have sold this room no problem, but they still wanted to stick me for $300 for not staying there. This small town mentality and lack of customer service is sad to see, they have lost a customer for life, I will never stay at another Best Western again, nor any of my family nor any of my 50 staff for any work travel.

Great quick service, very comfortable bed, clean, tidy. Have stayed here many times with my kids. Didn't use the pool this time, but have in the past. We went to see a concert at Rama, they offer a bus there and back.

Had to stay at the Best Western Plus Mariposa in Orillia for two nights because I needed to use up Aeroplan points. It's been an excellent stay with no surprises. I'm coming back for sure. Pool is huge and very warm. Restaurant is considered Orillia's best Italian.

The room was very nicely decorated and comfortable, but I was mostly impressed by the cleanliness of our room. The restaurant Grape and Vines was a little overpriced for the quality of food. The cantonese plate has great shrimps, but the mountain of sticky noodles with a very heavy sauce. Was not able to eat that. The location was perfect for us, close to highway 12.

We came for a get away , checked out this venue was happy with the price. Greeted well , slept great what more can we ask for? We used the pool but it was only 1 metre deep basically a puddle so we didnt stay in the pool long . We had our own things to do, so we just used the hotel for home base . We will return .

Visiting family in Orillia we opted for this hotel because it is pet friendly. What an awesome experience! The staff was very friendly - appreciated the text message check-ins from the front desk and loved the pet vacation theme - including the sweet little tote bag our puppy got. Hotel was clean and we couldn't hear neighbors. Pool facilities looked great. Restaurant in the hotel is very nice as well. We'll be back!

Went to Rama to a show and stayed here. Only 13km's to Rama a pretty drive. Room was big, bed was okay, not as comforatable as we are used to. Pillows were great.We were in rm 222 a long walk from the elevator. The lady who checked us out the next morning was really nice and helpful

We ended up at this hotel because we could not get a room at Rama but this ended up to our advantage. Best Western Plus was less money but more than we could have asked for. A full restaurant with excellent food and above average service complimented this hotel service. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and it was so nice to be greeted with a smile and lively conversation. Every care was given by the staff to be sure our stay was pleasant. I can not say enough good things about the staff and the hotel was well worth the money spent. Over all a great experience. The room was well equipped and clean and the location was better than expected. Only minutes from retail outlets and other restaurants. I can not give an opinion of kid friendly or the hotel laundry as we did not need this service. This family will stay there rather than on site at the casino in the future.

Room was very quiet, excellent for sleeping. We had a dog with us and were in the first floor. Bed was GREAT.. six pillows in total on the two beds but all the pillows were all identical so no options and all were way too soft.

This Best Western room was very comfortable and well designed. Staff were friendly and its location was near Casino Rama where we wanted to spend the evening. Full beakfast menu was quite extensive, but I found the Eggs Bennie could have been improved.

Went to Canada for training and staying at the Best Western made the commute easy. After a 6 hour direct drive the staff greeted us with kindness and positive news. They offered us free breakfast coupons for the restaurant, so major bonus! The room smelled clean, beds were very comfortable and the shower pressure was unbelieveable! Over all....the shower pressure was my favorite part. In addition the restaurant staff was spot on, pool was warm and over all a great visit!

Although the hotel overall was clean, the staff was very unfriendly and seemed to go out of their way to make us feel unwelcome. With everything we did, a new rule was brought to our attention. We stayed as a hockey team and were continually threatened with eviction due to noise. Arrangements were made to rent a common room and the rules and threats kept coming as well as numerous 'check ins' to make sure we weren't breaking any rules. One family was escorted to their room by security immediately after checking in. Another parent was scolded for walking down the hallway with kids because "they were being too loud". One family's room smelled like sewage. There are no towels in the pool area and when you ask the only staff at the front to desk for one you are immediately threatened (not just told) to be charged for it if you don't return it to the front desk when finished. Needless to say, feeling uncomfortable staying here would be an gross understatement.

Hello bbooola, I sincerely apologize your stay with us has made you think of us as the "Worst Western." It seems you had a bit of a stressful weekend and I'm so sorry. Guests in the past have ruined it for others, which means all of the rules you're referring to have had to be implemented for the protection of all guests and staff. When teams sign in, regardless of the sport, they have to sign our sports team agreement, which is also posted all over the hotel for your convenience. With regard to the pool towels, we now keep them at the desk on the weekends, so we can make sure we get them back from the guests, wash and dry them and have them available again. In the past, guests have taken towels to their rooms, which meant we couldn't clean them and put them back out for our guests. We do hope you will give us another chance, whether with your team or without.

We attended a wedding at the Mariposa on the weekend and came away very impressed. Once you arrive, you do not have to set foot outside until you leave. A very nice chapel right in the complex. Go down the hall to the large reception room for the nights entertainment. All just steps from your own room. They seem to line all your needs through the booking, from catering, DJ, photographer, and a list of other great options. All in all a great experience for everyone. The hotel itself is very clean, the rooms spacious and well equipped. The beds very comfy... No complimentary breakfast included though.

Stayed here last night, room was clean, beds were comfortable but after a late night at the casino was looking for by a restful sleep in. We were awoken at 7 am plumbing of the shower above us clanking and shaking the walls. This went on while everyone in that room showered. We then heard a young hockey team leaving on the way out for their tournament. Lots of noise from the parking lot and ice machine right outside out room. Perhaps some thought of where a couple could be place when assigning rooms. Mentioned the early wake up due to plumbing as it is controllable but of no concern to front desk. Room was #139 request another room. Needless to say we were on our way early.

We stay at the Best Western Mariposa Inn several time a year for business. The staff is very helpful and friendly when booking my room and arrival and departure.. There's always plenty of towels and toiletries are plentiful since my husband always forgets his razor. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and had a good nights sleep. Absolutely no noises in hallway. Breakfast is delicious and quick service. This hotel is always a pleasant stay. We will be going back again soon

We were invited to a 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration. The location was selected by our hosts. We had a double Queen size room on the second floor and it was clean & well appointed. The location was easy to find and several restaurants in the area. Since this was a 50th wedding anniversary the Grande Mariposa room was reserved for Cocktails, dinner and dance. The food was great I had Prime Rib and it was cooked to medium rare. It was hot and served table side. The staff were friendly and attentive. Considering the hotel was booked for a wedding service as well it was quiet and organized.

We ordered a suite, but they only had large rooms. The room was nice, a bit dated but functional in all aspects. It also had a fireplace. The food served at the restaurant was not memorable in the sense that it did not grab you, nor was it bad. They did have a brunch the day we were there, but I ordered off the menu. I generally find buffets pricey, considering I don't eat that much.

Lovely hotel. Great Staff! Rooms are very clean and neat. Beds are very comfortable. Conveniently located to all amenities, restaurants and Casino Rama (they provide a shuttle service for a small fee). Pool, Hot Tub and Sauna are lovely can clean. Has a restaurant on site. Wish there were a continental breakfast included, but the restaurant serves all day to provide meals.

We spent four days while in Orillia for a convention. The rooms are very nice, clean and functional. The from desk staff were excellent. Our only complaint was that the continental breakfast provided did not measure up to the Best Western Standards. We have stayed in many Best Westerns and this was by far the worst breakfast buffet we have had.

Nice hotel, bathrooms are old, and could use an upgrade. The complementary breakfast was limited to potatoes (and not that hot), packaged scrambled eggs (not that tasty), and bacon and sausage. And your choice of coffee or tea. No cereal, no fruit, and juice was extra. Add a few dollars to the room rate and increase the quality of the breakfast, how hard is that.

Our car club met here-67 of us. The staff at the hotel was friendly, and the rooms were fairly comfortable. Breakfast was included and consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage, potatoes and toast. There was no cereals, fruits or juices. Adequate parking. Unfortunately wifi has to be done every time you log on instead of once daily

I will let our Food and Beverage team know people are requesting cereals, fruits and juices. As for the wifi, we just had it installed so our guests can experience higher speeds and are working out the kinks, such as having to log back in once you've left the building.

Some friends and I purchased the Sunshine Getaway Package through the Best Western Plus Mariposa Inn in Orillia. We had one nights accommodation plus a free breakfast. The Sunshine package gave us a free boat cruise on the lake, Theatre tickets at the Orilla Opera House, dinner at hotel restaurant, lunch at the Mariposa Market and admission to the museum. All this for $149.99. We had a great time and enjoyed all the events we attended. The hotel & rooms were clean with many amenities. The staff was very helpful. I would recommend this package as it is very good value for your money.

As a Best Western Rewards member I have always had terrific experiences whenever we stay at a Best Western on our travels - it is a great Rewards program! This property is easy access from Hwy 11, close to many amenities and only 15 minutes from Casinorama. The rooms are absolutely pristine and the staff are very helpful. There's a nice indoor therapy pool (no deep end) which I used for a pleasant swim in the morning before breakfast. There was a 10% discount offered for guests at the hotel restaurant. Great choices for a healthy breakfast.

My stay was pretty much what I expected. I got the correct room type that I booked (2 Queen Deluxe); which I was worried about, because I booked third-party. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. I was expecting it to be louder because it was full-capacity and had a wedding on-site. I really liked that they had makeup removal wipes in the bathroom. It's the small things that count. :) The pool area was nice, the only thing that wasn't great was that the front desk agent seemed to have to chase down housekeeping a couple times to have the towels replenished. That was my impression anyway, from her phone call to her. The front desk agent was doing the best she could. Just a heads up to someone staying: the pool is very shallow. The "deep" end is 1.2m. It wasn't a big deal and they're certainly not going to change it, so don't be surprised and don't complain about it. Staff was very friendly. The blond woman who sits on a chair (sorry, didn't get her name) is pretty hilarious.

From August 9th. to the 11th. my wife and I participated in the 55+ Senior Summer Games in Midland On. To our disappointment the hotel accommodation however was booked at the Best Western Mariposa Inn in Orillia, 50 km away from the Sport Venue. The disappointment was quickly turned into a very pleasant experience when we were greeted by a friendly receptionist at the Hotel , and what followed is absolutely remarkable. We had a wonderful Stay and enjoyed two delicious Breakfasts and Buffet-Dinners ,Superiorly choreographed by the Food and Beverage Manager < Jose> and his staff. We recently booked the Sunshine Getaway Package (Transaction ID #2553) and enjoyed it very much. From initial booking with Patricia to reception arrival with Taylor, we thought our little getaway package was going to be good and indeed it was. We weren't expecting too much considering the price paid, but we were more than pleasantly surprised. Our room was very clean and quiet, considering we were facing the parking lot. Bed and linens were comfortable. Our room had some renovations done. Bathroom vanity was new and headboards for the beds were also new and added a nice touch. But what impressed us were the staff. Friendly, helpful, and happy to serve you. Refreshing to say the least. Special mention to Norma Jean who works in the Grape and Olive Restaurant. One special lady for sure. Another member of staff is Katherine (don't know correct spelling) who worked the front desk on the afternoon shift. She came to my husband's aid after pushing the emergency button by mistake in the pool area. We laugh about it now, but other establishments wouldn't think too kindly to something like that happening. Apparently he wasn't the first to do such a thing and probably won't be the last either. Katherine was professional about the situation and said for us not to worry. Main thing was our safety. The indoor pool was somewhat of a disappointment. The pool is shallow throughout. Pretty much 3 feet. There is a hot tub and sauna available which is nice. The patio off the pool is nice. It overlooks greenery and fields with a gazebo too. Nice to sit there to dry off from the pool or to sit after having dinner. The food offered at dinner and breakfast was good. Selections were limited but you could go with meals on the menu with a set amount discounted with your voucher. We had a chance to talk with the current Manager, Michelle. We expressed the above views to her and told her she has done a great job with staff and the running of this hotel. She said she has more plans to make it even better. Great attitude! Great work ethics. We would definitely recommend this package to friends and family.

This was the first time that I have stayed at this property. What a great gem. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the dinner and reception was amazing. Jose at the bar must be complimented for his "old fashioned" service. Thank you. Michelle, the GM has done a wonderful job at having her staff make you feel like you are walking into your home with all staff members greeting you and saying hello. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you all.

We purchased the Sunshine Package as a "staycation" and booked for July 12 - 13. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival at the hotel to find the most helpful receptionist ever. Patricia explained the Sunshine Package to us thoroughly. We decided to have lunch in the Martini and Olive before heading out to the play and were truly astonished at the quality and flavor of our meal. Our expectations were fulfilled with the luscious dinner and cooked to order breakfast. The four of us are planning a return trip in the near future with a stop at The Beast Western Plus.

Hi lindawK2373BY, Patricia is absolutely amazing and has been with us for 19 years, so she is quite familiar with the Sunshine Package. We have fantastic chefs and even the staff eat at the restaurant quite a bit, we agree it's delicious! We look forward to welcoming you back!

This has been our fourth time staying at this motel and we still enjoy it. In fact this time it appears there have been some upgrades than the last time we were here. The rooms look freshened up,with new flat screen t.v's. The rooms are clean, the lady at the front desk is always so friendly and helpful. The pool is perfect for kids ( that is why we keep coming back to this motel), the only complaint and it is minimal is that there is little to no towels in the pool room other than that the motel has a beautiful park like setting on the property. The motel is located near parks, stores, and restaurants....although there is a restaurant on the premises, we have yet to try it. Next time we come back to Orillia we will be coming to this motel.

Cheers 737Linda, With 83 rooms on the property, filled with families, it is hard to keep up with the demand for towels. We have added an extra housekeeper in the evening, so the towels can be washed, dried and placed back into the pool area. The restaurant on-site is delicious, with everything from pizza and wings to prime rib - even chicken fingers for the little ones. We look forward to seeing you again!

Well done! Everything was organized and ready for us when we checked in. Our Red Hat Chapter was also given a boardroom for our use during our stay to meet up with other members. Food and service wAs excellent as well!

Stayed in Orillia as part of a group offer. Upon arrival the staff was really helpful and friendly. We quickly got our room and the welcome package including coupons and directions of our planned activities. The salt water pool and hot tub were a nice addition and provided relaxation after a 4 hour road trip. I was quite surprise by the high cost to book an extra night $199; which you would expect in a high end hotel in downtown Toronto. Once again the service of the staff (reception and dining room) was excellent.

I found that staff was good however they didnt go above and beyond to give you any info ....example a good place to eat their suggestion was the hotel. Found this restaurant to be pricey.Looked places up myself and found the Bayside Restaurant an excellent place to eat and it was a reasonabloe price

Fantastic place. Went with Sunshine tour and would defi itely do it again. Have told several of our friends about it. Room was great and food was great. Were greeted as soon as we walked in so felt veey welcome.

Clean comfortable loved it would stay there again if in the area. Food was great breakfast was a hot buffet better than we thought thanks.i have recommended it to friends who have booked and going. It was a package we bought Captain Tom included a boat cruise. Theatre , museum, and a breakfast, lunch and supper which was a some undead.

Taylor from BW Mariposa went well above and beyond for me on Friday July 8, 2016. During the downpour, she ran outside to try to hail the bus that had forgotten us. She was soaked to the bone yet, continued her exceptional customer service. Highly highly recommend this hotel, purely based on how amazing and helpful Taylor was. Definitely will stay here again. Hotel was great. The Grapes and Vine Restaurant served a wonderful dinner. The Breakfast sucked - no fresh fruit or juice. No muffins/bagels/cream cheese. They served the coffee which was somewhat slow. This package was excellent value.

Don't stay here if you need internet access. Although staff will tell you "it depends" on time of day, I was here for three days and it was unusable all day, all night. They should not be able to advertise a "business center" with this kind of appalling service. If I could give it a lower rating I would.

Sunshine Getaway had a package at the Best Western in Orillia that we bought. We arrived at 12 noon and our room was ready and picked up the package deal. It included breakfast, lunch, dinner, cruise, museum, and live theatre. The staff and room was very good. It's a full 2 day package which we enjoyed very much, the lunch was at Mariposa Market which included entrée, salad, desert and drink. The deserts were huge and delicious, everything was great, we would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone that is going to Orillia. The cruise was 2-1/4 hours on Simcoe Lake, the weather was wonderful it was very enjoyable. The live theatre was "The last of the Red Hot Lovers" which was comical and good. The dinner was at the Best Western's restaurant which was very tasty including salad or soup, entrée and cheesecake. I would recommend this package to couples and families but especially for couples.

We booked the 'Sunshine Getaway' package with a one night stay at the Best Western Plus Mariposa Inn. This was our second time and we weren't disappointed. Patricia was very welcoming and explained all details. This package is good value. For $149 (+tax) per person, you receive one's night stay, breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus a narrated hour and a half long cruise of Lake Cuchiching as well as a ticket to a local theatre performance. The complimentary appetizers at the theatre -- first evening performance of the show -- was a real bonus! The selection at the Mariposa Market is also wonderful. Thank you Orillia! We will be back.

Just returned from an overnight stay with my sister at this hotel and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Kathy at the registration desk was so pleasant and helpful. She explained about the bus to Casino Rama for $10 return-it leaves and returns several times on concert evenings-even the bus driver was friendly and punctual! Our room was 2 Queen beds and everything was clean, new and the beds very comfortable. We had requested a room overlooking the back garden/pool area and that was what we received-lovely room! We used the pool and patio to sit out in the sun the next day and the staff was so accommodating with a late checkout time. Our breakfast in the dining room was delicious and very reasonable price with attentive service from Joann. It is a bit of a walk to the end rooms on the 2nd floor but well worth it as you get a beautiful view of the gazebo and muskoka chairs outside. Highly recommend this hotel!! Thanks to all the friendly staff!

i was pleased to get a walk in room on a Friday night. Our room was quiet except for the air conditioner which played loudly all night, but I imagine that it has been repaired. Overall, we were comfortable and The price was very very reasonable

Very friendly staff, quick check in and out. The hotel is very clean. Would definitely stay again if in Orillia area. Have a nice pool/hot tub area with a great patio if you want to sit out in the sun. We asked for a main floor and a late check out (just and extra hour to use the pool) which they were happy to accommodate.

This past week we had the pleasure of heading north to see a show at Casino Rama and stayed with another couple at the Best Western "Mariposa Inn & Conference Centre". The front desk staff was great as she put us in adjoining rooms on the main floor it much easier for us and our friends to get to. She was cheerful and very helpful. We had breakfast as well and the food was delicious and hot. I will stay there again and as a Gold Club member the points I receive are great for future stays. Stayed here on a Sat. Night and found the hotel to be comfortable, clean and a very accommodating staff. My daughter and I stayed here May 5 to 8 for a dance competition. Although the hotel nice and clean, we were disappointed with the night manager. We were sitting in our room with two other dance moms and their daughters. we were chatting and laughing. We get a knock on our door to keep it down as there has been a complaint. We were very surprised as we didn't think we were that loud. So, we continued our conversations. two hours later the manager came back. She told us that it was late and whoever didn't belong in the room had to leave. I was very upset. I know we were not that loud. I told her we were not doing anything wrong and there's no way she could have gotten a complaint. I felt like a kid at camp and we are told 'LIGHTS OUT!!". Later that week we were talking to some friends who told us they saw the manager was going up to each door on that floor and listening for voices/sounds. It was very upset at this point. How dare she come to our room and listen at our door. Shame on your manager for invading our privacy! Next time we'll stay at the comfort inn!!

Good Day, I am sorry that you felt that Michelle H was acting like a prison guard and honestly that is not the case. We unfortunately did get a couple of complaints from other guests in that area. Our policy is, no noise after 11 pm and we do respectfully try to keep this commitment to keep all our guests happy. I am the General Manager at this location and did receive several complaints from other guests. I have implemented a new policy going forward that if we have a vacant meeting room available to allow guests to utilize this room at no charge. Recently had the occasion to stay here . Staff were polite and helpful. Comes with breakfast although I could not stay, the restaurant looked busy. The place needs renovating , rooms need major updates. Some chain restaurants close by. Not sure I would stay here again , still up in the air .

Don't get me wrong I do like the rooms. Clean well maintained and a helpful staff to boot. I always had clean sheets and towels in a pinch and the staff stepped up to the plate finding locations in town for me. The issue is I can hear entire conversations from the next room over and over again. If you're into that sorta thing great! But late at night it can be really jarring.

My husband and I got married this past October. We were having trouble finding exactly what we were looking for, until my now mother in-law mentioned the Mariposa Inn to us. We went ahead and book an appointment with Kandas Bartlett and let me tell you it was the best decision we could of made, from just meeting her once we knew right then and there that this was the place we wanted to get married!!! Kandas was amazing whatever we wanted she made it happen and that meant the world to us. The ceremony was perfect, the food was excellent and our reception room was breath taking, she truly went above and beyond to make our day special. Stayed here for two nights. Very clean rooms and common areas, staff was very friendly. Beds were very comfortable. Pool is a great size. Room rates were a tad high for mid week stay. Would definitely stay again.

I have come back to this hotel for several times since I first wrote a review couple of years ago. First, the front lobby area has been remodeled and it has made the area much more appealing. I also noticed that the leaky shower faucets have been largely fixed in several rooms I have since stayed. The staff remains friendly and helpful as before. Enjoy to stay here.

We stayed here because we were going to a concert at Casino Rama. We ended up at the wrong one (we had booked at the other one and didn't realize it). The lady at the front desk arranged to move our booking to this one instead. It ended up saving us 50 dollars as well! We had a standard room. It was everything you'd expect from this type of hotel. Nothing fancy but nice crisp and tidy. The bathroom had shampoo and conditioner, lotion, and two soaps. The shower was great (but the temperature control was a bit confusing). We went to the pool and hot tub. It was not busy, only one other group. They left when we came in. The sauna was okay but we didn't realize that there is a switch to turn it on. I'm sure we would have really liked it. Our room was at the back of the hotel near an exit. It was first floor and we didn't hear anyone else in the halls or neighbours. The employees were all very friendly. We will absolutely stay here again.

Friendly staff, nice large and clean room. Room had kitchenette, large comfy bed. Only issue we had was that the fireplace didn't work. When we asked the front desk after dinner how to work it he promptly came up to have a look. Was not able to fix it and apologized.

We found the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff very pleasant and check in was quite good. From previous trips the dinning room was excellent. Although we did not use their pool it looked very clean as well as the hot tub. there was lots of parking spaces..

I stayed here with my wife for two nights as we were in town to see a show at Casinorama. This is a newly renovated smoke free hotel with lots of amenities and great cheerful staff. A special callout to Patricia at the front desk who was always friendly and helped us out from check-in to check-out. The rooms are clean and well designed. There are lots of easily accessible plugs on each side of the bed and at the desk. We stayed in a King bed room which also had a fridge, microwave and Kuerig coffee maker. Lots of towels and soaps in the bathroom. The fitness room had new equipment and machines and there is also a swimming pool and hot tub. (The swimming pool is all shallow). We also used the shuttle to The Casino which runs on weekend (evenings/night) which saved us from having to drive or pay for a taxi. All around perfect stay. I will stay here again on my next trip up.

The room was clean, comfortable and staff friendly. Inviting lobby and reasonably priced. Close to fast food but no other amenities. Didn't eat in dining room as other plans. Beware of the additional tax charge. It is not a mandatory tax therefore you have to request it to be removed. Other than that, it was a good night.

We enjoy staying here. Clean rooms with quality coffee and a Keurig machine, good beds, nice toiletries and a restaurant with tasty food. We can even bring our dog along if stuck for a sitter. We will definitely return again.

The staff over charge on the deposit by $130, the fireplace was just a space heater, there was no in room movies as stated on the website. over all bad experience. They definitely advertise the rooms to having an actual fire place and this was the selling feature that made us book the room however it was a lie. the large tub was just a regular bath tub. And there were no in room movies.

VERY GOOD PLACE TO GO FOOD IS INCREDIBLE. CHEF'S are awesome and staff is wonderful thank you for a great New Year's. I would refer you to a lot of people. Beds are comfortable and work out area is bright and accommodating.

This is a very good hotel, our experience probably enhanced by a low occupancy (Sunday to Monday in late November). Good location (assuming you're driving anyway), large/clean rooms, pool much larger than usually for a hotel, pretty quiet wall heating/cooling unit. Breakfast was not included; the adjacent restaurant + bar (you don't have to get outside) is quite good (at the time opened from 6:30 to 10 AM, then 5 to 9 PM). A nice area outside is probably intended for weddings. Very good choice for the area.

Lots of parking and convenient entries into Hotel with only 2 levels. The elevator is near the Lobby, so if entering through another hotel door, you may have to carry your luggage up the stairs. As long as you aren't carrying a lot of weight, there is quick and easy access to your room. Great location with everything within a 10-15 minute drive away. Nice looking gazebo in the outside courtyard to enjoy in the summer and a pathway at the back for some walking exercise also.

My fiance and myself chose Best Western for our wedding venue. Kandas did an excellent job on all details. From the ceremony to dinner. I still have guests telling me how much fun they had, and how amazing and how much food there was. It was such a relaxing day for me, all I had to do was hangout and wait for go time. Wedding planning is stressful, so when I do not have to decorate or worry about how much food there is, or how to organize the ceremony, it is fantastic, and a huge load off of my shoulders. We went to see a favourite music group, Styx Friday November 13th and had difficulty finding a room because we booked last minute. We live over an hour and a half from Orillia. But the front desk managed to squeeze us in. What a great hotel. Very clean. Hotel has undergone a recent facelift to qualify for the "Plus" rating Best Western maintains. I was able to get a Starbucks quality coffee in the restaurant. And the management, namely Steve O. was so polite and welcoming. Excellent experience. Will we return? Absolutely. There were children staying down the hall from us for a hockey tournament and I thought uh oh.... noise... but once we went in our room didn't hear anything. Very efficient check in. Fantastic friendly service in dining room and at front desk. Thanks again Steve... or should I say Stevemazing!

We had a wonderful wedding experience here! Kandas was wonderful helping us plan our dream wedding. The venue was beautiful, the food was excellent and overall experience of the best western was wonderful. Family will definitely stay here again when they visit

This hotel is a great place for business travellers, families and even snowmobilers. It's located near Highway 11 and is adjacent to the abandoned rail line now used as a snowmobile trail in winter. The trail is great for walking or running during the rest of the year. The recent renovations have refreshed and modernized the hotel. The indoor pool and hot tub are great for relaxing at the end of the day. The onsite restaurant is great for breakfast or dinner. If you choose to go offsite for dinner, there are a few options within walking distance.

We stayed in the King Suite and I'm glad we got the upgrade because I don't want to think what the regular room would have been like. We had to ask for soap as there was no soap, shampoo, conditioner or kleenex in our room. When we stopped by the desk and asked for soap they wanted us to take it with us instead of delivering it to the room. We tried to have dinner in the restaurant, but we didn't have a reservation so the girl just left us waiting without letting us know if we would get a table. We waited almost 10 minutes and she hadn't come back so we left. The shower head pulled away from the wall almost 2 inches when I tried to adjust it. The hot water took 3 minutes to even get warm. Holes in the robes. And then we were startled awake at 6:30 am when the person in the next room was showering. The plumbing sounded like an earthquake even rattling the dishes and doors on the kitchenette. When we mentioned it at the desk during our immediate check out, we were informed that they would let maintenance know again (clearly it's not the first time) and after all it IS a 45 year old building! The woman was rude and acted like we should expect problems. We will NEVER go back.

I stayed with my daughter for a group event a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed the room. It's well appointed, clean and up to date. However, I am really disappointed in the service from the staff including the flippant front desk clerk, the dishonest cleaning staff and most importantly the GM. We left in a hurry and checked out leaving something important in the room (there is absolutely no doubt that it was there because we deliberately put it aside not to forget it!). I called a few hours later to let the staff know and to find out how I could get it back. I even suggested I drive the hour and half out there to get it. I was told that the cleaning staff didn't find it (impossible) and when I suggested in a nice way that perhaps there's a misunderstanding and asked what should we do about it, I was instructed to leave a voice message for the GM. It was a Sunday evening. I did leave a friendly but concerned message and have not heard a word back in over a week! Not only are the staff dishonest, the GM, Stevedoesn't care about their guests enough to even call them back. We stay in Orillia for a number of reasons at least twice per year. I will not return to this hotel for that reason alone. The item wasn't terribly valuable but it was important to my daughter. There are other examples of poor service but this one really bothers me. Best Western Couchiching isn't as modern but the service is amazing and I would recommend it hands down over Mariposa. We'ves stayed there a few times and will go back for sure.

Thank you for your review regarding your stay with us at BEST WESTERN PLUS Mariposa Inn & Conference Centre. I apologize you did no receive a call back as you indicated, I will follow up with our AGM, as this is not common practice for him or the hotel. I have investigated into the lost item and spoken with the staff involved. As soon as you called the hotel, the room was checked for the item, and nothing was found left behind. In addition, the Guest Service Agent that you spoke with did also personally check the room a second time, and reviewed the lost and found, as well as the housekeeping carts. Unfortunately, there was no record of the item being found. On Monday, we did follow up with the Housekeeping Manager and the Housekeeper that cleaned the room, and both have indicated that the item was not in the room on her entrance to service the room on Sunday after check out. I understand your daughters personal connection to the lost item, and can imagine her disappointment losing her special item. I do apologize that you feel that there is dishonesty regarding your item, as this is not the case. The staff did take immediate action to try and locate the item and if it was found, we would have assisted you in having it returned. Please feel free to contact me directly at 705-325-9511 at ext 5300. Once again, my apologies that the lost item and its follow up resulted in such an unpleasant stay and over all impression of the hotel.

Extremely friendly service, spotless rooms and comfortable bed at a very fair price. A good basic place to stay if you are in Orillia for a few days. I have stayed here several times and have always had a great experience. One thing I noted this time was the quality of the sheets was a bit basic for my liking. I haven't noticed this before. I don't know if there was a recent change. The location is very handy for downtown Orillia and is close to most of the big chain eateries so there is lots of available choice. Note - I have given it 4 stars because of the overall easiness, friendliness and cleanliness not because I view it as a luxury property. Also note, there's no view. It's just off the main road but is quiet.

Fair quality for the cost. Room and facilities are clean. Room was well prepared and was very clean. Despite large number of people staying at the hotel, it was quiet. Only problem is noise from heating unit.

The Mariposa Inn (Best Western) in Orillia was a delight! We had finished our annual fall leaf tour and had been to the nearby Casino Rama and were ready to just take some R&R. The check-in process was fun... I enjoyed talking to the front desk staff about our trip and the amenities of the hotel. The room was near the front as we had requested. The Grape & Olive Lounge/Restaurant had great food and the service was fun and friendly. The morning breakfast (not free) was hot and tasty and even though there was a bit of a wait due to a short-staff situation, everything stayed positive for us. We chose to sit at the restaurant bar, which worked for us and for the staff. All in all, a wonderful experience at this Inn.

Stayed here for a few weeks while in Orillia on business. Front desk service was fast and efficient. The female manager was extremely friendly and seemed to love her job. She was very entertaining. Hotel seemed to have recent updates in the guestroom bathrooms, which made it more modern and comfortable. One downside was the house keeping. First night there I noticed lots of brown short curly hairs in the bath tub which were not mine and were disgusting. Then I noticed the "clean" towels in the bathroom had lots of long hairs already on them, again not my own. Kleenix and toilet paper wouldn't get refilled, garbage left in room, and constant problems with asking for clean towels to only get more towels with other people's hair on them. If it hadn't been for the awful house keeping I would of given another star, but it left me feeling uneasy and grossed out during the trip. Be advised that wifi is very slow and the password changes constantly, without hotel staff advising you.

Staying at the Best Western Mariposa in Orillia, Ontario, Canada is a very peaceful experience. It was quiet and the service was excellent. I got all my needs met and everyone was professional and very, very helpful. The meals are also excellent. They also serve Starbucks Coffee which I love. Good beds and very good wifi. Nice and clean. On the down side the pool was just packed with small children and it wasn't a great restaurant - overpriced for the quality of the food. Knock 25% off the price and it would have been fine.

Our son and daughter in law held their wedding at the Best Western Mariposa Inn on Oct. 3,2015.(Allen /Bird Wedding) I must say everything went off without a hitch. Most of the guests stayed over and they were all very impressed with the organization of the wedding celebration. The room was beautifully decorated according to the color scheme that the bride chose. The buffet food was excellent.. We had a roast pig along with chicken, pastas, salads roasted potatoes and vegetables.The DJ Kandas recommended was awesome. He played a good mixture of music, which kept everyone dancing the whole evening. The hotel management must acknowledge all the hard work that Kandas, the wedding coordinator put into this. She is such an asset to your team. Be sure to give her a commendation. Thank you to everyone involved.

This was a business stay. The hotel is clean, but they are having some construction right now and there are some parts being renovated. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and have been recently updated. It is located close to restaurants and major highways. The restaurant serves good food and we were served a breakfast buffet several mornings due to the hotel being fully booked. I would stay here again.

We have enjoyed the Best Western brand for many years and try to stay exclusively at Best Westerns. This hotel was very clean and bed was comfortable. That is always a must and this hotel definitely exceeded that. The only negative was the pool was in need of some cleaning. The hot tub was excellent very warm and clean. We would definitely stay here again.

Two floors NO elevator (they are installing one) but did not tell us at time of Booking. Fine for me but a problem for an elderly person at times. Toilet in room 231 rocks and makes a noise when sat on. If you go to the pool you must go to the front desk to get towels Not the experience i was expecting

This hotel is conveniently located near a business area and also close to the highway (but not too close). It has easy access to trails for biking, fitness or snowmobiling. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The pool and hot tup are great for down-time. The restaurant on site provides a good variety of meals.

We stayed at this establishment for work. Everything has been updated. Our room was very clean and pleasant to stay in. Comfortable bed. Very quiet. Very nice indoor pool and hot tub. We made great use of these and really enjoyed ourselves. We would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again.
