I will never stay at a Best Western again. The staff was horrible, unfriendly and bordered on threatening from a maid. The woman at the front desk did not greet us at all. Said nothing but "I need a license and credit card, then made us sign, gave us a key and said "your room is down the hall" which was wrong. There was paint bubbled off the walls in the bathroom, the towel rack was hanging off the wall. Used towels were taken but new ones were not provided. A light on the wall did not work. There were 2 light switches that did nothing. Nothing was cleaned when we left the room. Towels were taken but not replaced. When my wife asked for towels a unhinged women entered our room without knocking then ranted like a lunatic. We had to bolt the door and latch it as we were afraid. We were afraid to point anything else out for fear of reprisal. We had a Super 8 booked for our 3rd night and were happy to go there and be treated with dignity and respect
The AC was never turned on before we arrived so the room never cooled down enough until the middle of the night. We had to move the sleeper couch closer to the bedroom in the middle of the night because it was so hot.
I wanted to take a moment and share my appreciation and gratitude towards Harsha and Best Westin. We got stranded on the highway last night upon return from driving our daughter from Binghamton University. The highway police gave us number of Best Westin. When I called the hotel and explained our situation to Harsha he went out of the way to book a room for us and tried his best to get us a cab from towing company to hotel. After we reached hotel he checked us in immediately
I usually stay at another hotel when I visit NY which is a lot. I was attending a wedding in Monticello and needed 4 rooms total. Also had other family members coming in and they were able to accommodate everyone on the same floor.
Convenient location next to Rte. 17 and downtown Monticello. Hallways and rooms look a bit dated. Our room smelled a bit from smoke covered over by disinfectant. Bed very comfortable. Shower in disability room did not have full grab bars on all sides making it difficult to maneuver. Indoor pool was freezing. We reported it and they said it was 80 degrees. No way. Was still too cold. Breakfast was pretty good. Appreciated that all items were kosher. Staff was very efficient and helpful.
Staff was very courteous and helpful. Everything was very clean. Breakfast was appreciated. We enjoyed the exercise room very much. Pool looked good - we didn't have time to swim. We would definitely come again. Excellent place
Checked into first room and AC didn't work. Switched rooms and shower was filthy, one of the outlets didn't work, one of the lights didn't work. Pool closes at 8pm so don't think you can check in and go to dinner then come back and get in the pool. But at least they charged me an arm and a leg.
This $50/night hotel charges nearly three times as much for dirty and dingy rooms, lamps that don't work, and 1980's style bathrooms complete with dirt and hair leftover from the 80's. Go the extra miles to the casino hotel or literally any newer property.
Called to book a room and was not asked about the number of guests. Arrived at the hotel to be argued with and lied to by the front desk guy who booked my room over the phone (he has a distinct accent.) He then upcharged for the number of guests and claimed that he did ask for number of guests on the phone and that if he didn't then it wasn't him on the phone. It could have been less of a problem but he had a very unprofessional attitude and tone about a problem he was partially responsible for in the first place. Front desk also did not answer phone from 8PM-8:30PM when I wanted to call to ask about the fitness center hours. Poor service
We found this property at the last minute on a Saturday as we wanted to go to Resort World Catskills. I was also skeptical because since the close of the raceway, the area seems somewhat deserted. The room was nicer than expected. Lobby staff was minimal, but friendly and helpful. It was closer to the casino than we first thought (maybe 10 minutes away). The only negative was the fact that the shower had no grab-bars and my husband, who has mobility issues needed a shower chair which the hotel did not have. However, the complimentary breakfast was a plus as it was more than just coffee and pastries.
This hotel is past its prime and in need of better management. After a 2-week road trip, this was the absolute worst hotel we stayed in. While trying to check in, there was a group of 8 Hispanic boys ahead of us. Only one of them spoke a little English and they had all their things in plastic grocery bags. The front-desk guy (there was only 1 person at the desk) was on the phone for almost 30 minutes talking to somebody and asking who was going to pay for their rooms. He glanced at me once and said I could sit in a chair in the lobby and then looked away. He never asked anyone else to help him get other people checked in (several more people were now behind us in line) so maybe there wasn't anyone else available. After finally getting our keys, the room was musty-smelling and in great need of newer furniture. A/C was noisy and barely cooled the room during the night. The bed was not comfortable. Woke up the next morning and found a used band-aid at the bottom of the bed in between the sheets and no, it wasn't mine. When we checked out, I tried to use a $20 gift certificate given by Best Western. The lady on the desk was nice, but she didn't know how to use it. After trying for 10 minutes, she called somebody for directions. For another 10 minutes, she kept trying different things, but couldn't get it to work. After 20 minutes of standing there, I told her to just forget it, if she managed to figure it out, just send me an email. To her credit, I got the corrected receipt via email that afternoon. By the time we pulled out, we just wanted to get as far away from this place as possible. Combined, we spent almost an hour waiting to check in and out. Best Western should be ashamed to have their name on this one.
My family and I needed a place to stay in the area for one night and looked like the best motel in the area, but I was still skeptical as I have not had good past experiences with Best Western..but I was pleasantly surprised. The property is neat and clean and the room was clean , comfortable beds,, and most importantly smelled nice and fresh and the air conditioning worked well! Would stay again if needed.
We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door by very friendly staff. The check in was fast. The room was nice, warm and clean. The check out was just as fast as the check in, and again as we were walking out the door we were acknowledged and sent on our way. Thanks to the staff for making our stay so warm and welcoming!
Room had a balcony and it still reeked of cigarette smoke. Offered another room but without balcony. Was given spray when complained but that was ineffective. Good thing it was only one night. Not worth the money at all. But Monticello is pathetic in general
I was here on a business trip. Seems there are not too many options in this area. This was the best choice available. Front office staff was really helpful and knowledgeable. There was breakfast available with limited options. Overall a good place to stay.
Our children were out of school for winter recess and we wanted to do something as a family for couple days, so we booked 2 days 2/18-2/19/21. We had a snow storm for those 2 days hence we were not able to travel. I cancelled the reservation online day of travel which didn't go through so I ended losing the money for the 2 days. Even if I lost the money for 2/18 at least refund me for 2/19. I called the 800 # as well as the hotel directly and wasn't able to get a refund. I spoke with someone who was going to call be back after she speaks with the manager which never happen. I'm very perturbed my this and very disappointed in the way this handled. Shady and unscrupulous business practice.
The sink drained very slowly. The bed spread had ashes on it. I had to clean the jacuzzi before we could use it. They sprayed the room with some kind of heavy perfumed spray that set my asthma off. And I have no idea what people were smoking down the hall.
This hotel was not what I expected. I will never stay again. The look was old fashioned. You're charged double and they do not tell you. Their customer service was not well. The pool wasn't heated like they said it would be.
Facilities, service, personnel and appearance inside and out were all very good, rate is fair and competitive. Amenities in room were sparse, Considering the competition I can't say it is the Best but it is above average.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Experience from check in to check out was pleasant. Clean & love the decor. Breakfast was a 10! Great Variety. Pool nice too. Rooms clean. Conference Room is large with your own bathrooms. Thank you for a helpful staff!
I used this hotel for a weekend event and it couldn't have gone better. The complete experience was a pleasure. The management staff was extremely helpful from the start to finish. We used the conference room and 20 hotel rooms and everyone was happy. The breakfast included has quite the variety to choose from and was very good. Public areas & Rooms were clean and I love the decor. Every staff member who worked the weekend was friendly and helpful. Greeting you with a smile and always willing to help out. Thank you Best Western in Monticello, NY.
This Hotel is clean, quiet and well appointed. My room was also very clean, comfortable and quiet. Access to the lobby was complete with a handicapped ramp which was much appreciated. The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Checked in for our semi-annual stay. Jennifer, as always, so polite, expeditious and accommodating. Every single aspect about this hotel says, come, stay, enjoy and come again. Superbly run organization.
I love this hotel.. very clean, quiet & the workers were very friendly & professional. I enjoyed the breakfast the provided for their guest. If their was anything you needed the staff was ready to help
Easy access from Rte 17. Check in was easy and staff were friendly. The room was nice but could do with a little brightening up. Bed was very comfortable and shower was excellent. Would probably stay here again if in the area.
Again Nancy checked me in a bit early, although room wouldn't be ready for about 45 minutes. Room 212. Two comfortable queen beds with four pillows each. Large cabinet topped with large flat screen-never had time to turn set on. Three drawers, with micro/fridge. One comfort chair. Two night stands, two metal folding luggage racks. Carpet throughout. Room good size..Writing desk & swivel chair & lamp. A/C unit worked fine & quiet, with simple operating controls. Very dark blackout curtains. Bathroom. Shower only with sliding door. Hot water for shower in fifteen seconds with soft water for face & body. Plenty of towels. Shower/toilet on the small side. Sink is outside the shower. Bottles of shampoo, lotion & conditioner. Hair dryer & coffee maker. Sink counter is somewhat limited in space. I used the writing desk as more space. Large square mirror. Wood floor for shower area. Breakfast. Hours 6:00-10:00. Steamers for scrambled eggs, bacon & oatmeal. One waffle maker. Orange, apple & strawberry juices along with enhanced water. Four dry cereals. Basket for bananas & apples. English Muffins, bagels, small chocolate chip muffins.. Strawberry & apple pasties. Three types of bread. with rolling grill for toast. Regular & decaf coffee. Seating is nine tables with two chairs. Flat screen for morning news. The closest restaurant-about one minute away-is the Colossa Family Restaurant & Pizzeria . Parking is best on the west end & rear. Parking in front can be tight. Want to thank the following staff-Nancy for check-in & Suzy for checkout. Didn't intent to to write a second review, however this room had some different features from the first stay. This stay-one night- was for one of three days at the Bethel Woodstock festival. If another Bethel concert is in the future a third stay will happen. A stay is recommended
For a moderately priced motel, Best Western Monticello really exceeded our expectations. The room was so comfortable with parking very near the rear exit. The breakfast buffet was terrific! It included the waffle station, with whipped cream available, too. The coffee machine brewed by the cup - always fresh and hot, right? Hot cereal or eggs and breakfast meat, plus the usual bagels, toast and muffins. Very clean and well laid-out with extra options like soy milk. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. We'll be back, for sure!
Staff was great very helpful and rooms were very clean we had left something behind in room and they were so nice enough to call me and tell e we had left item behind also breakfast was really good great help
The lixation was easy to find. The staff was friendly and helpful to give us information about the restaurant next door. Our room was very nice and clean and the breakfast was really good. The breakfast area was nice and clean as well.
The room was clean and at the end of the day, that is what counts, However, there were no pens and paper in the room and I had to borrow one from the maid. Also, there were smokers on the balcony and the smell got into my room, It was advertised as non-smoking but for us, not really true.
It has been 2 and 1/2 years since I last stayed at this hotel. I was very pleasantly surprised with the recent changes. The room have always been clean. The hotel has been renovating rooms. The new entrance makes it much easier for people to get in and out with all our scrapbooking supplies. I also like the new virtual fireplace and seating. Coffee bar available all day is great. Staff at the front desk is very helpful. Nice place to stay just minutes from Champaign Urbana and a much more reasonable hotel if you are going to U of I events.
The room was spacious and included a fridge and microwave - along with a kitchenette with sink and two burner stovetop. The shower was one of the best I've had in a hotel, the bed was comfortable, the place was clean, and the staff was friendly. Breakfast included several options.
Do not stay here if you like cleanliness and sanitary conditions. The ceiling had water stains and there was peeling paint. It was evident there was a very cursory attempt at cleaning in the room and linens!!!!
Great Value For The Money. Hotel was clean and inviting. The staff was quite friendly and efficient. They really seemed to care about their work and doing a good job! I would definitely stay at a Best Western Hotel/Motel in the future!
Very nice and clean Hotel. Very friendly staff. Quite and right near the interstate. Room was very clean and the breakfast was good. Only thing was the bathroom was very small. We will stay there again.
As a state business traveler, I booked the hotel on their website. I presented a State ID and tax-exempt form as required. When I checked out, I was charged tax. The desk person would not change the receipt but assured me the manager would do so. When I arrived home, the receipt was tax-free but the bill was not at the state rate as promised. No amount of negotiation on the phone would change this. I was charged $135 for a room that is advertised online for $94.50. Now the room. The toilet is built for a baby's rear end and is nearly unusable given the space between the toilet and the bathroom door. The showerhead is approximately 4' 9" above the floor of the tub and I had to get on my knees to rinse off. The sink is in the middle of the living space, not part of the bathroom. Not so hot for privacy if you have kids, etc. In short, do not book this hotel if you have any need for service or comfort.
Hotel was perfectly located - clean, quiet, and plenty of parking for both trucks and trailers. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and had everything we need for the three nights. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel but heard it was good.
very nice place -- very close to the church and reception --check in was quick and easy plus we were allow to check in early. IT WAS GREAT-- good breakfast --definitely will use this place again i would recommend this place to everyone
Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff is so helpful, made me feel right at home.I was tehre on a extended business trip for almopst 10 days. The downstown is notwhere you want to be. This hotel is close to exit and in center of most of the things you can do. I think breakfast was really good specially the frest scrambled eggs. The bathrooms are tiny but as long as I get everything clean, doesnt matter to me. Staff is excellent!
Lovely hotel, quiet, comfortable, right on exit, close to bethel. Also have full hot breakfast, rooms are great with comfortable beds, large tv, love the new showers. Coffee available 24 hours, kids enjoyed the pool.
This hotel is really bad. The smell of bug spray is so bad it chokes you but still have bugs! I complained to the managers and nothing was done! STAY AWAY from this place!!!! It might be a good price but you get what you pray for
When looking on line pictures doesn't do this location justice! But the location & facility was wonderful! Staff was just lovely, making us feel right at home! They gave great tips on things to do, awesome suggestions for really good eats, that was right next door! The views from windows were beautiful! Clean, I mean no joke clean. Seen the rooms turned upside down & put together too perfection! Was so impressed!
The outside was nice. Rooms had odors key cards had to be reprogrammed more than once to enter room. AC unit in room very noisy. Breakfast room full of fly's and very hot. My door to room repaired with screws to hold together. Co worker had an unknown species of bug in room.
Great spot! Check in was easy. Front desk clerks were all helpful. Room was comfortable and I liked the layout. Breakfast was good and had plenty of choices. You can walk to other restaurants too. I would recommend it!
Jennifer is kind, sweet, knowledgeable, and expeditious in all she does to make individuals feel right at home in the Best Western at Monticello, N.Y. She is head and shoulders above the rest. Second to none!!!
This hotel, located just minutes from Bethel Woods by car, could not be any more convenient for seeing a concert or checking out the museum. Clean, decent size rooms, a pool. We did not wake up early enough to take advantage of the free breakfast (the breakfast finished at 9 on Monday morning) but there were a couple places to eat minutes away (a diner, Dunkin). Rooms and bed were comfortable. We would stay there again, and the price was reasonable.
We picked this hotel as my daughter was going to the camp nearby. From checking in till we were out had no issues at all. Checkin was smooth. Rooms have everything that you will need to spend night or two. Free Breakfast was a plus. I picked this hotel over casino. Happy with decision.
We always stay at Best Western Monticello when visiting Bethel Woods. The hotel is in an excellent location and is very clean! Our room even had a balcony! There's a pool available and also a very nice complimentary breakfast with many choices! The staff is always friendly and helpful! The room was spotless!
Seemed to be best value in area. Not too many choices in Monticello NY area. Basically stayed to sleep while meeting friends in area. If you like Italian Food go to Nardi's 205 Main Street in Hurleyville, NY about 5 miles away from Exit 104 on Route 17. Big portions, reasonable price. Hurleyville small old town in NY. Found on POI on GPS.
A very gentle and polite staff greeted us at the reception.. We were dam tired when we reached the motel, but they did not waste any time and in less then 5 mins,we were in our rooms relaxing.. The rooms are really big and we had a luxury of Balcony in the room.. Nice neat and clean crisp bed sheet just cozy enough to make me sleep within minutes.. Next morning had a proper breakfast and left the hotel Smiling and refreshed!!!! Hope to revisit the place!!!
On arrival Nancy was dealing several guest ahead of me yet was able to keep her cool. That showed what the front desk is made of. Room 210 of a two story facility with elevator. Two queen beds with four pillows each & a night stand between beds. Large cabinet with three drawers, micro/fridge-didn't get a chance to use either-topped with flat screen with about 55 channels. Writing desk with swivel chair & nearby floor lamp. Solid color blackout curtains. Quiet operating A/C unit with simple controls. Carpet for entire room. Two folding luggage racks. Open closet with iron/board & eight wooden hangers. Bathroom. A shower/tub with hot shower water in five seconds. Plenty of towels. Bottles of shampoo, lotion & conditioner. I have visited several B.W.s, with this facility having the smallest bathroom. In order to side down on the toilet needed to shut the door. Both carpet & bathroom tile very clean. Large wall mirror mounted by cabinet. Automatic front sliding doors greet guests with two luggage carts between doors. Breakfast: Hours 6:00-10:00. Steamers for scrambled eggs & bacon. Four dry cereals. Three types of bread-with rolling grill. Small muffins, bagels, English Muffins, & jelly rolls. Bowls of apples & bananas. Juices-orange, apple & strawberry KIWI. Regular & decaf coffee. One waffle maker. Wall mounted flat screen for morning news. Seating is eight tables with two chairs each. Being a Sunday morning I was the only guest for breakfast. This facility has an indoor pool. Lounge has two small couches & foot stools & coffee table. Guest computer is located on the second floor. Didn't ask if there is a guest laundry. Want to thank the only two staff members-hard working Nancy for check-in & Amber for morning checkout. Will be returning in August for a second stay in August for a John Fogerty concert at the Bethel Performing Arts amphitheater. Both the Bethel Woods Museum & amphitheater are located just under eight miles to the west off R 17. A stay is recommended, factors being location, clean & quiet & price. Good parking, recommend parking in back or the west side. Front parking looked to be on the tight side.
My husband and I came to the area to go to the casino and decided to stay at this hotel. Upon walking in I thought the hotel looked very homey. Check in was a breeze ! Staff at the front desk was very accommodating. The room was very clean and cozy. Looks as if new carpets were put in ( absolutely beautiful ) The breakfast room was set up with lots of variety! And a tv available for guests to watch while dining. I had one minor issue connecting to WiFi in which I called the front desk and the manager ( Jennifer ) came to my room within minutes and helped me get a connection. ( not sure what I was doing wrong ). Other than that, I can not complain at all. My husband and I decided on the day of check out we would go out to breakfast before getting back on the road. We left the hotel about 9am ( check out is at 11am ) breakfast ended up extending for us until about 1130 with the traffic. When arriving back at the hotel our keys were no longer working. I become nervous because we left our belongings in the room when we left as we thought we would be right back. Jennifer was at the front desk and without any issues she reactivated our keys and everything of ours was in the same exact spot as we left it. Once again , the front desk understood our reasoning for checking out a little late and did not charge me. I appreciated that gesture very much. I will absolutely stay here again without second thoughts. If you want to have a great time and no worries I recommend the best western in Monticello to anyone.
My family and I stayed here one night, that was enough for us. First they gave us a room with a broken toilet, then they switched us to a room that had a wet floor. When I complained, they did nothing to resolve it. The next day we found our items in the hallway before the 11 a.m. check out. After I complained to their corporate office, both, the office and Jennifer the Manager denied any of this. I was hoping to resolve this before this complaint but they refused. Jennifer the Manager of the Monticello Best Western was very bad at Customer service, satisfaction and resolve. I will be writing my review of this and mentioning her by name is several NY/NJ newspapers. Mrs T. August
everything from check in to room to breakfast was excellent. Whenever we are in the neighborhood would definately stay again Next time will make reservations in advance to get better rate could not have been treated better
Nice and cleaned and the service excellent and the breakfast was very good and the attendance on the breakfast was great. The room was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful . The parking was excellent
Would stay again for a show at Bethel. Ten minute drive to the venue. Decent value. I would stay there again for a show at Bethel. Didn't get up in time for breakfast so can't so how that is. But pizza place an diner right next door.
This BW is conveniently located off Highway 17, just 7 or so miles to the Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center (straight down 17). The room was spotlessly clean, but did not smell of cleaning products or anything. There is a family restaurant cum pizzeria right next store, too. Very good value for money. Nothing "resort-like" about it, but nothing "resort-like" about the prices. We would definitely stay here again.
Breakfast was disgusting. Never had a breakfast so bad. Eat at the Italian bakery in town. Location is great. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking is a little awkward but manageable. Unless you need handicap parking, in which case you need to watch out for walls and other cars.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was ok but the furniture was warn but not bad. Room was musty and water pressure wasn't good. Overall wasn't too bad but the rate seemed high. Not surprised with a concert that night.
Great location allowing access to highways, local airport, recreational facilities, activities, such as the water park and race tracks, restaurants and the city of Monticello. The surrounding mountains and valleys are a plus.
Clean rooms. Prompt service. Good breakfast. The stay was comfortable but apparently there was a misunderstanding between me and the staff over a possible Triple A or Senior discount for the price I was quoted. Paid the quoted price after being told the cards I presented were considered.
My husband and I stayed for one night this past Friday. We want to check out the casino. Room was spacious and clean. The Italian restaurant next door was very good, we ordered takeout and ate back in the room. Nancy at the front desk was wonderful, very friendly. Would definitely stay again!
This was a nice clean and quiet hotel. Check in was fast as was check out. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The shower had good water pressure and the water was nice and hot right away. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast had a nice selection of basic breakfast food.
We never were able to stay there, but since we were charged - I feel like I'm entitled to a review. We were going to a funeral in Monticello IN, and somehow we ended up booking a reservation in Monticello NY. We called the NY hotel, and Best Western customer service, as soon as we got checked in the correct hotel, but neither the central reservation service nor the hotel would help us out. Instead, they kept the "case" open for two weeks, and after three back-and-forths, said they could comp us for a trip to New York, which we'd never use. This is keeping in mind that we also paid rack-rate at the Monticello IN location! Just be really careful if you are booking online - since the central website doesn't appear to have the authority to fix errors or provide refunds, and the Best Western Monticello is unwilling to help, even in the case of a common mistake and prompt notification. Other hotels figured this out years ago - I'll make sure to use one of them next time.
This hotel is located 2 exits away (approx 10 minutes) from the NY Resorts World Casino Catskill. The hotel has 2 floors. We had a king non smoking room located on the second floor near the elevator. The hotel is not very modern. The room had the sink located on the outside of the bathroom away from the tub/toilet. I wasn't too thrill about that. There is a full size tub which has the jets for usage and also the bathroom can be turned into a sauna. A few of the tile on the floor in the bathroom was cracked and no mirrors inside the bathroom. Water temperature for shower was good. The microwave was extremely outdated yet functionable (after we flipped the switch down at the door for it to have power). The bedding was decent as were the pillows. Temperature control was in the room. There is no safe for you to lock your valuables in when leaving the room. There was a small sofa in the room which was nice for sitting. We only stayed one night so there wasnt much sitting. The room was adjourning to another room in which you can hear "all of the other occupants conversations". Good thing they were checking out when we checked in. I did have an issue with checking in and being charged. Let's just say I have $254 worth of pending charges on my Discover because of some glitch and me being quoted a "incorrect price". Well that's surely not going to be my problem. Lets just say this is still a work in progress. There is complimetary breakfast...coffee/tea, juice, muffins, breads, bagels, cereal, yogurt, fruit, a few hot items...and yes there was a waffle machine. Breakfast was to end at 9am...due to an electrical issues the breakfast was extended. The eating area is a small space so watch out for lil ones running about while you fix your coffee. :) There are a few eating places next to the hotel. We ate at the Colosseo Restaurant which is right next door (walking distance) to the hotel. I will write a review for them too. Overall this hotel needs some updates. The staff was friendly. Will def be a selection for stay in the future.
This is a good place and a decent rate. It definitely one of the better choices when it comes to big names hotels. Very convenient if you are a contractor working in the Correctional facilities nearby!
Was hit with a really bad snow storm and had no choice but to stay here. Staff at front desk was pleasant. We had called prior to heading over and luckily they had a few rooms available. There isn't a restaurant on the premises but there is a little Italian restaurant right next door. Room had two beds and was fairly clean. The chair had some staining and the bathroom tub could use a good cleaning. Plenty of pillows on the beds, fridge and microwave in the cabinet. Didn't stick around long enough to check out the rest of the building. It served its purpose in a pinch and is still the better hotel choice for the area.
This is a dated hotel that tries to keep up with the times, but needs a complete renovation. On the good side, staff is friendly and helpful. Door locks are the newer “touch” style key, fairly large name brand TV, good Wi Fi signal. Room was decent sized, fairly clean, and HVAC worked well. Fridge and microwave worked as expected. On the downside, beds were on the hard side, shower water / temp control is a real learning experience, handle for vanity sink worked backwards (maybe a replacement for a style that had a pointer on the opposite side), and a ho hum breakfast that was served cold 3 out of the 4 days we were there. But, it's still the best thing available in the Monticello & Liberty area.
I guess one of the attractions in this area are a horse track/casino and another casino a couple miles away. Front desk staff were helpful and professional. Room was clean and odor free. There was a considerable about of guest slamming their doors and all hours of the night. Overall it was a nice place to stay. I didn't eat the breakfast, but opted to eat at the Diner couple doors down.
We had to go there because the Casino was sold out. I have compation for the people who hold on to the Best Western but that hotel needs to be renovated! Until then! I won't go there!! Smelly, feels like dirty! No! Would not go there!!!
I stayed over at the Best Western twice in the fall of 2017. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. They have a continental breakfast which starts early and ends early. I have missed it both times. There is a indoor swimming pool. I did not swim because I was only there overnight. It was convenient to stay there because down the street is Monticello Raceway, abut a 5 minute ride. I didn't have any problems the two times I slept there. Make sure you join their rewards programs where you can earn points for what ever Best Western location you stay.
Although an older facility, it remains the better choice in the area. Quiet, ample parking, near the race-track. One room (the Bridal Suite) has a whirlpool tub. Although breakfast choices are more than adequate, seating is limited...be prepared to take the food back to the room.
It's obviously an older facility, in a economically depressed and challenged area but they are working on trying to keep it up. Hence the fact that while we were there the electricity went out multiple times while they were working on something On a positive note, the place is clean On a negative note, I would not go in the pool without first getting a shot The breakfast is not worth visiting, Dunkin is right across the street
Everything was appropriate except for breakfast which was not enough for all guests. When staff was approached about it there was rudeness to their replies. Otherwise, everything was appropriate. Rooms were very clean, hotel was quiet as we were out mostly the whole day, out in early am and in after 11 or 12 mid noc.
There aren't many hotels in the area, so this seemed to be the best choice, but for $197, it didn't cut it. The staff was very accommodating when we checked in and got us into a room early so that we had time to shower/dress for a family wedding-that was very appreciated. The room itself was a disappointment: -The top bedcover was clearly soiled with, um, bodily fluids. -The bathroom door handle was broken and did not close properly. -The safety chain lock on the door was broken. -There were a variety of stains/splatters of who knows what around the room on the walls. I wanted to give a better review because we were thankful of the early check in; if the room had been around $100 a night I might have expected it to be as it was.
We booked this hotel because it is right down the road (about 15 minutes) from Bethel Woods. Rooms were nice on the first floor, breakfast was typical but good. Enjoyed the coffee and waffles. Plan on staying again for the next beerfest.
This is the second year I have been coming up for 5 weeks in the summer with some colleagues from work to our satellite medical office. The front desk staff is most welcoming and friendly, eager to help with any questions. The parking lot is large, rooms clean and very quiet. Shampoo, conditioner and soaps along with clean white towels. Ice maker on the floor and a microwave and refrigerator in your room. A business room is on the second floor with computer and printer. Air conditioner works great, and a large screen TV with a variety of cable stations. Clean open space downstairs to meet, and the breakfast area is spacious and clean. Breakfast is served every morning, hot coffee, juices, eggs, bacon, oatmeal, variety of breads, fruit, and juices. Very convenient to route 17, and there is an Italian restaurant next door, as well as a diner, gas stations on the corner, and a Dunkin Donuts. Your hosts, a middle age couple are always around keeping an eye on things and replenishing items for the morning meal. Will be back next year.
I guarantee if you took a blue light to this room, it would show all what I was feeling about the cleanliness. Dank, gross carpet, shiny gold bedspreads and a cigarette burn on my bedsheet. Noisy. Would not recommend on any level.
Located right outside of town off 17b. Clean and comfortable. Sink located outside the bathroom. TV has plenty of stations although I could not get Wimbledon. Refrigerator , microwave and coffeemaker in room. In between Bethel woods and Casino ( if u are into that). Good restaurants nearby. Friendly and helpful reception with Ashley and Jennifer.
thank you best western Monticello for a great stay we enjoyed our stay very much. the pool was on the smaller side but still very enjoyable and very warm. the breakfast was far more than a standard hotel continental breakfast it was a full buffet
the hotel was clean and neat. employees were nice and kind and helpful they provide a free breakfast which was delicious no back ache from the bed, slept like a baby they have a indoor pool we stayed there because it was close to the casino and bethel woods would definitely stay there again
I was here attending concert at Bethel woods. Hotel's location was perfect as I was able to easily get on highway in the morning and go to the new casino which is just 5 mins from this hotel. This was the first time I stayed at this place and I must say my overall experience was awesome. The staff was ready to help anyway they can. The hot items in the breakfast was a plus. They had tons of options which surprised me. I will definitely stay at this hotel when I come back to this area. I will not recommend any other hotels in Monticello.
Beds too hard, which made for rough sleep. Basic looking hotel...clean..small bathroom, tub had dip in floor, one electrical outlet plate falling off....Staff responsive but bland. As if they didn't want to be there. (I'm of the old school where if you sign up for a job, you do it well, regardless of whether you really want to be there or not)..Beds very firm/hard, so uncomfortable sleeping. .Breakfast was decent(included in price of $210+tax/night)....Hotel looked old and tired, but adquate.
I booked this hotel for guests for our small wedding. There were some mix ups about what was booked and for when. Most guests thought the accommodations were ok. I know that there is a pool. Not a lot to choose from in this area.
We go to Bethel Woods for a few concerts each year. We recently stayed at this hotel for one of them with 3 other couples. We all agreed this Best Western was our new place to stay for these events. The location is perfect, the property is well maintained and the rooms were great. The staff was very friendly and helpful and even offered to dry a sweatshirt that had gotten soaked in the rain at the concert we went to. I highly recommend this location.
The hotel was very clean, staff friendly, The room was equipped with a hot tub in your room. Unfortunately I am unable to give you detailed information about what the hotel had for amenities as I only spent one night there as I was flying out the next day.
Old hotel, breakfast was horrible, the room smelled bad, could not recommend this hotel. The housekeeping staff was very nice and friendly. The front desk, not so much. The oatmeal was like soup, the eggs were green.
One of the only places I could find last minute on a motorcycle trip though NY. Reasonably priced and nice accommodations. Staff was friendly and helpful. Two great places to eat are litterally at the end of the property and two gas stations as well.
Nice, clean, pleasant staff. Rates on the weekend have gone higher due to the new casino opening nearby, and the Catskill weekenders from NYC converge on the area. Nearby and minutes away from many of the sights in the nearby Catskill communities.
I stayed here New Year's Eve 2017 for just one night. I went to Monticello where they had a Motown Review....so I did not spend much time in the hotel but for the time I was there everything was fine. I would recommend it.
The front desk girl is very pleasant and nice her name was Jennifer Very nice room great comfortable bed. The breakfast was fresh and great loved the eggs and bacon We will be back next time we are working in the area see you soon
the staff was effecient and friendly, the breakfast was pretty good,it was better them many of the other free buffet breakfast I've had, the staff replenished food as needed. Bed was pretty comfortable, the room was very clean
Stayed here on business.... booked by company.... Everything looked and felt cheap... I hope it didn't cost much, so at least someone saved some money... don't count on using internet to do anything useful....
Needed a room for one night and trusted the “Best Western” name...Mistake. Lobby was/is musty. Room was tidy, but smelled of cigarettes. Shower is for the vertically-challenged. Fell asleep and woke up to the musical stylings of Spanish people loudly conversing into the early hours...
Very nice place to stay in the Catskills. Avery beautiful area to visit... Monticello has a brand new Resorts Casino which I thought was very nice and convenient to get to...Very good restaurants in area.
I've stayed at the Best Western in Monticello a number of times recently and have always been comfortable and well taken care of. For example, I hate the powdered creamer that comes with the in-room coffee, and twice the front desk attendant has gotten me the little half-and-half creamers to use. It's not a huge thing, but I really appreciate that kind of help. I also really like that there are lots of pillows on the beds--no need to ask for more!
There are not too many choices in this area, and this hotel has seen happier times BUT the service of the front desk people makes it stand out in a good way. I had problems with the business center computer and twice the night clerk offered to print out my report. Rooms are clean, including the bathroom. Breakfast is standard, but often ready ahead of time. Good place to stay when doing business in the area. Would come back again simply for the kindness and helpfulness of staff.
We Stay often for work and it's the best place in town to stay they have a great breakfast and open it up earlier for us workers. Jennifer is also a great help with all our reservations Thank you and see you next week
Great hotel! Convenient in location to the casino, courteous staff, comfy bed, and the breakfast was good. Check in was easy, fast & they answered all my questions. Will definitely be staying here again.
This place maybe the best in the area but that doesn't constitute as been good. Bed rest had so many had marks that may have never been clean or somebody had a orgy in the room and never got clean. The bathroom is as confortable as the bathroom in a plane. Maintenance of the place is apparently done by a 3 year old that thinks that caulk is play-doh. Stained pillows. Crappy heat. Hell, the way they run the credit card is using one of the old paper slip machines that imprints the number in carbon paper. Apparently they have elevator, I never saw it and I guess they didn't have the courtesy of pointing out where it is. In all honesty Im going to sleep in the rental car with 15 degree weather. That tells you how bad it is.
Tried our luck at the Monticello Casino so reserved one night (New Years Eve 2017) unfortunately got very sick and had to leave the same night but BW did not want to credit us at least 1/3 or 1/2 of the cost for overnight stay. So not very happy about that.
I liked having the balcony that overlooked the Casino. The front desk clerk was very helpful in telling us about the show planned for that evening. Room was clean and breakfast was good.I recommend this hotel in a good location.
stayed recently for weeklong intervals. first week room on the first floor was a nice size, and very clean. second week the room was on the second floor, and the room definitely showed signs of wear and tear. especially the bathroom. breakfast buffet, included, was fine. eggs, sausage/bacon, make your own waffles. desk people were both friendly and helpful. many guests appear to be working nearby on the new casino. would stay again
The owners continue to update the rooms each year. They are nicely appointed and updated with good internet service. The rooms are clean and the new shower and tubs are a great improvement over the old ones. Additionally, the new furniture spruces up the room as well.
The staff are very friendly & eager to help. The rooms are very clean. Very quiet at night as most people are here for business. Can get busy in the early morning, but not disruptive at all. Breakfast in the morning is good. They serve hot food and the usual cold breakfast items like muffins, bagels, and cereal as well. Close to food and gas stations. Right off Route 17 - very easy access.
I needed a place close to the Catskills Regional Medical Center as my husband found himself there over the weekend. Hotel was average. One sheet and one blanket per room not adequate. Very noisy at night. Lots of slamming doors at 4am. Staff distracted and hurried at check-in. No phone in room to call front desk. Plus side, a nice restaurant to eat next door with a bar. Hotel conveniently located off highway. Indoor pool and breakfast.
The room was quaint. My roommate described her bed as MORE comfortable than a recent Marriot stay.I had an early morning meeting and they kindly started the "free" hot breakfast a few minutes before I had to leave. It was a pleasant stay.
This Best Western was very nice, clean and had reasonable rates. We stayed overnight and went to the Casino at the race track. It was a great overnight stop with a little nighttime fun and dinner at the Casino. They had a small clean pool. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would make it a stop over again when traveling.
well Best Western was OK. It wasn't there fault but when I checked in there was a water mane break so no water. The room had not been dusted in at least a week or two or three. Sheets were clean though. Men's whiskers in tub and sink. Mini Fridge did not get cold. On a good note, the pool was new and clean, the breakfast was not bad at all. the staff at the front desk were very nice. I think that the price was steep for the room. Oh the phone did not work either.
We had No problems with this hotel. Convenient to 17b. Very courteous staff. Your average included breakfast, but it ended at 9 am on Sunday, thought that was a bit early. Big plus was that the room actually had windows that opened. Negative was not sure how clean tub was
Grace was very helpful at the front desk. She gave us a couple of great rooms and pointed to a great diner. We had a fun and memorable visit, be sure to stay there if you are visiting the Woodstock memorial at Bethel Park
Very handy to Bethel Woods / "Woodstock" site; literally just down the road...10-15 minutes by car. Possibly the closest hotel. Quite satisfied with stay. Certainly not fancy or deluxe but quite acceptable. Breakfast OK; wifi and parking good. Decent Italian restaurant next door (Colosseo). Room comfortable. Would probably stay here again if heading to Bethel Woods. The only negative point, which is minor, is the physical setup with the elevator, which is not located near the check-in desk. Instead, you walk to the far end of the corridor, take the elevator and then walk back to find your room. Weird setup. But not a big deal.
This hotel offers convenience and reasonable cost when we visit Monticello. Pool is nice . Exercise room serves its purpose. Breakfast is quite extensive for what it is. Major complaint with breakfast is that it ends at 9am. Nonethless, many healthy options. Coffee could be better. More tea varieties are needed.
happy, helpfull staff.saw show at bethel woods.convienent ,clean and affordable.decent shopping and eating was an exit away in kiamesha.we will stay there again when we see another show in bethel woods.
This was our second visit and we found the hotel to be a good, comfortable, no-frills, reliable place to stay. The room was fine, although the benefit of having a sink outside the commode area is diminished by having it just at the foot of the bed - no way of using it without disturbing other person. Otherwise, excellent value for the price.
The maid walked in on me why i was in the shower it was 8:00 In the morning I wasn't even checked out yet. Thank God there was a diner next door the food there was nasty. The person at the front desk was then only good experience I had there
We had a lovely state I hope to always clean and comfortable. The staff was kind and respectful very attentive. The continental breakfast was perfect, the only thing missing was a hot tub, smiling at you Kama me.
Went up for the weekend and had a great stay. The room was just the right size and the bathroom was clean and well supplied. The stuff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and gave you a good selection.
Very convenient location to many venues, One of the nicest places in the area. Clean comfortable motel...Never a problem and always treated well. Right across the street from racecino and close to Bethel Woods and restaurants.
We have been there many times, the Hotel is excellent and the price is reasonable. The breakfast selections are numerous, hot and cold. The grounds are kept up and improved all the time. It is 5 minutes away from the casino.
Our stay here was quite pleasant. Not sure why it gets a bad rap. Great, helpful staff. Decent room. Nice amenities. Give it a try if you need to stay in the area. You might be surprised. Much of the hotel seems to be/being upgraded.
Other than finding a peanut in the bedspread and odd lighting controls, our experience was a quite spacious room with a king bed and sofa area. Very pleasant front desk personnel. My husband enjoyed the fitness area. Note my comment and photo below about elevation. Be careful when using the rolling luggage carrier going up and downhill to your vehicle.
Went to book a room on 9/16/17 for one night. The clerk said the room would cost $127 plus tax. I told them my wife had just look at the price on line and it was $102 plus tax. They said if I could bring it up on her phone they would honor it, when I did they then told me that was just an average price, and I would have to book on line. Walked out!!
Stayed one night while at the casino. The hotel is less than 5 minutes by car. The hotel was clean, The gentleman at the front desk was extremely helpful and pleasant. All other staff were friendly. The breakfast had many selections and the quality was ok. The eating area was small, so it became crowded. We utilized the heated indoor pool and sauna which was refreshing.
Very accommodating for all the business need in terms of Wi-Fi, Fax and Printing Services. Staff was very helpful. Location was perfect for a peace and quiet wind down after long hours of busy schedule.
Sometimes I think the rate/night is a little too high, but there isn't another hotel within village limits that's comparable in quality. My experience with this location is consistent: clean, easy check-in, close to the few amenities the village has to offer.
I requested the opportunity to revise my review, given I've now had two exchanges with the manager that only confirm that this "independently owned and operated" Best Western does not live up to the BW standard. A week prior to our stay, I received a notification from our credit card that the hotel had charged the card. While I'm sure it was just a pre-authorization, it's unusual for it to be done so early. We suspected the hotel was sold out. Two nights later, we got a phone call saying we needed to call to confirm the reservation in order to keep the reservation (isn't that what a reservation is? A secured room?) Concerned they were overbooked, we stopped by early, at 12:15pm, to see if they had any rooms ready. That was our first experience with the dismal service. The check in clerk did not even make eye contact, say hello, or anything. We're friendly people. We travel a lot. We're easy going. She said, "No rooms until 2." That was it. So we said, no problem, we'll come back at 2... just want you to know we're here, since you're obviously booked. That's when she sighed, stood up like we were the biggest pains, and said she could check us in but we couldn't have the keys until 2. I said fine, confirmed that we had a non smoking king room with a microwave and fridge. Returned at 2, got our keys from the same front desk woman who'd still been unable to find the strength to smile or say hello, and headed to our room. The door to the room was open, there was an empty Snapple bottle on the counter, and the room... at 2pm, their own check in time... was clearly not ready. The only friendly person in the hotel, the housekeeper, ran right over, dropped everything, and cleaned the room. Neither the front desk person, nor the manager, gave one iota about giving us a dirty room, could not change our room, and did NOT provide us with the room we'd reserved (one king, non smoking, with a microwave). When we attempted to explain what happened to the manager, her response was to argue that we had tried to check in early, which we did not, and that we got the room we reserved, which we did not. The manager completely ignored our primary concern ... That the service received was very sub par. But it's apparently systemic, starting with the manager. We stay in hotels 60-75 nights a year. This easily rates as one of our worst stays in 2017. If it wasn't for the amazing experience we had out of the hotel (visiting Woodstock, seeing Sting at Bethel Woods) it would NOT have been worth the stay ... and next time, we'll definitely stay elsewhere. With the exception of the sweet and helpful housekeeper, the service was very poor and incredibly unfriendly.
Hotel is located right of the exit. Staff was very helpful. Rooms are nice and clean. Nearby to all restaurants. Would recommend anyone to stay there. Specially enjoyed the breakfast in the morning and high speed internet which is free was a perk for me.
Overall staff was very helpful in checkin us in. Overall decor of the hotel is well maintained. Seems like lot of renovations have been done recently. I have stayed at the hotel about 3 years ago and it looks like a completely different propery.
I could not have found a better stop while traveling , if I am in the area again I would go out of my way to stay there . The staff went out of their way to help me several times and it was appreciated .
Grace was very helpful during check in. We arrived at noon and she went out of her way to find a room that was ready so we could check in early. I had just arrived during closing time for breakfast but they extended it for my family. They had a great variety for breakfast as well.
Staff was friendly and convenient location. Was there for business trip but hotel staff was very nice and friendly. Rooms are nice and clean. Property has been renovated and kept nice. Enjoyed the stay and would recommend to anyone
The staff was very friendly and helpful with changing my room as well as making the extra necessary accommodations for my four month old baby. They also honored my request which was greatly appreciated. The breakfast area was well maintained and stocked.
The hotel itself is located right off exit. Small bathrooms but clean. Employees were ready to help with any questions. It was a busy hotel. We were here for the concert at Bethal, prices were high for the location. But looking at reviews for some of the other hotels in the area I will prefer to stay at clean location than staying somewhere in dirt. This was my first time staying at this hotel.
friendly staff, rooms very clean, bed extremely comfortable. will stay there on my next trip to bethelwoods to see a concert.i must use more characters as the survey tells me to. i still need 17 more characters. ok that should do it!
We stayed one night for the Garbage/ Blondie show at Bethel Woods. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. We were on the first floor in the front of the hotel. Big room but tiny, not so nice bathroom...it was sort of dingy. Pillows were awful but the bed was awesome! Not so bad for a place to sleep so close to the venue.
This was a nice hotel for the area- clean, pleasant, big room, tiny bathroom. Nothing special, but we enjoyed being there. Beds were nice. We were only there for one night, but the hotel staff we met were pleasant.
Hotel was decently clean. Found a live spider in tub. The windows needed to be cleaned on the outside. Breakfast was ok. Needed to wait on eggs and butter was keep in fridge so you couldn't spread it on anything.
For our annual visit to cousins in nearby Smallwood, we choose this BW. This years visit was better than last; things seemed more organized...sharper. Although the other ratings range from good to excellent, the facility is certainly worth the booking... you won't be unhappy. Clean rooms, great breakfast, free parking. For dining, try Bernie's Crust in Rock Hill #277). (Also called Bernie's Holiday Restaurant or Crust). To be safe , make a reservation.
This Best Western was conveniently located just 10 miles from Bethel Woods performing arts center which I guess is the reason for asking $200+ for a room. The front desk staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. The room was clean with plenty of towels. Breakfast had lots of choices including scrambled eggs and sausage and fresh fruit. We have found accommodations to be minimal in the area for our annual trip back to the Woodstock concert site but this hotel has earned a return trip.
Four of us went on a Motorcycle Trip and stayed here and it was Great. Ashley at the front desk was the best as she offered directions and recommended places to dine. The hotel was quite and very clean. The person at the front desk in the morning was very nice also but I did not get her name. This place is very close to the race track and Bethel Wood
Lovely hotel with very clean rooms. Had a nice balcony. Employees were all very nice and room and hotel were very neat and clean. Breakfast was excellent! Waffles, eggs, bacon, toast, danish, cereal, etc...Will always stay at this hotel when visiting in Monticello, NY. Only 15 minutes to Bethelwoods.
My family stayed in route to dropping off my daughter to a sleep-away camp nearby. I was not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. Building/lobby/rooms were very nice and the free breakfast was a nice touch (similar quality to Hampton Inn) with waffle maker. Next door (walk to) two decent restaurants (Italian and diner). Very close to Dunkin' Donuts.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean but dated. Have not seen the color Harvest yellow in a hotel room in decades. The amenities were good. The bathrooms small but rooms had sitting area. AC was loud and was designed to blow up inside curtain instead of out into the room. The price was on the high end for a hotel of this quality and location but there is not much else in the area.
nice decent place. I think its probably the best place in area. If you want something more upscale you have to go to middletown. There are quite a few options there. I would recommend the marmot. thats east of monticello. I don't know about other directions
This is the best option within 10 miles of Bethel Woods (the Woodstock Festival site and museum). It is clean and quiet, but a bit run down. The breakfast offerings were good, including eggs. The town of Monticello offers some good restaurants and there's a pizza place next door to the Best Western.
Best Western never sounds like a good idea to me, but your choices are few in this part of the world. This place was a surprise, given my assumptions. It was clean, tidy, well appointed, and the rooms were easily accessible. The rooms were nice, had good TVs and functioning internet. All in all, a good experience! Thank you.
Hotel is really nice, service is very good. Rooms are clean, but breakfast needs improvement. Overall recommend the stay very convenient location, staff are attentive. Quick on check in and out and any needed cots, etc they jump on it quickly!
Well kept hotel, very near Bethel Woods, about 9 miles on route 17 B. Hotel is almost across the street from Monticello race track and casino. Easy on and off Route 17. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Recommended good restaurants. Hotel is clean, inside and out.
This was a very clean, quiet facility with great staff, who are not only very helpful but very kind and customer-friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel and would plan to stay in it, myself, on future visits to the area.
The manager as well as the rest of the staff was very attentive and accomodating!! Everyone there seemed genuinely interested in helping us have a perfect stay!! Very convenient and comfortable as well ! Couldn't ask for anything more.
For the most part this is a very nice hotel. Rooms were clean and well kept. My only issue is that I make my reservations early. I am also a frequent guest and loyalty should account for something. There are other hotels in the area. however this is the one I prefer.
A very nice place with clean and comfortable rooms. Plenty of free parking and close to good restaurants and coffee shops. The pool is small but it is refreshing on a hot day. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Recommendation - Yes.
It's the only hotel in the area but it fits the bill for a quick overnight. Clean rooms but not fancy and the beds were not notably comfortable. Staff was great and the breakfast had lots of healthy options (fresh fruit & hard boiled eggs). Perfect spot for a stay after bethel woods concert.
we had a very nice stay the past weekend. jennifer was very helpful and had some good recommendations for restaurants. the night girl was also very nice and we enjoyed chatting with her. thank you very much
We did not receive a welcome Goodie Bag as preferred Best Western guests. The hotel is close to Bethel Woods for concerts. The room was clean. The staff at front desk never notified us of a shuttle that could be taken to Bethel Woods.
Stayed here going to a show at Bethel Woods. Very clean place. The hallways, lobby elevators all very well kept. The room was very nice with a comfortable bed. It is an older hotel but a nice place to stay.
I stay here on weekdays for work. This is a good hotel with lots of amenities. Hotel staff is always ready to help and solve any issues. Rooms are very spacious. Bathrooms are little congested. But always a clean stay.
Comfortable beds and pillows, breakfast included. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Would stay again when in the area. Close to Bethel Woods concert venue. Rooms had nice size refrigerator. There are limited options in this area, we were not disappointed.
The hotel is nice enough, average for an economy-level hotel. The shower curtain in the bathroom smelled awful, such that it was impossible to shower in there. We stayed only one night and told the front desk upon checkout; but they didn't seem to concerned. Otherwise clean rooms, good location, and friendly, helpful staff.
This hotel needs a complete make over. It was jaded and our room smelled of smoke. My wife slept on the top of the bed, refusing to get between the sheets. The best I can say about it is the location, which is a stones throw from the Casino.
awesome place with courteous employees. Very informative of the area. Very helpful. Answered every question. accommodated my early arrival. Clean and comfortable. Very nice breakfast. Waffles are make your own and so fresh
Last week I read the reviews (below) and, I booked this hotel, unfortunately the review didn't tell you about: paper thin walls, hotel room doors that Slam!, out-dated 70's decor... and the indignity of paying top dollar to stay in this terrible hotel. I had most of the night to make a mental list of this hotel's deficiencies, so I hope you read this and save yourself money and a sleepless night.
Breakfast was a little scarce but other than that my stay was very good. Nice pool and exercise room. Plenty of restaurants near by. Pleasant hotel staff! Rooms was nicely decorated with all the amenities I needed.
It was my first time in close to 30 years staying in a hotel in Monticello as I typically stay in Liberty or Middletown. Although was only for one night it was a great experience and the staff was very professional.
I had to fix the toilet. Way to much air freshener product used in common areas. Exercise area was dirty. Breakfast selection poor. Advertises that it has a spa. Does NOT. Staff was friendly and helpful. Price is high for the quality received.
You can be assured that your room will be in good working order. I wish the continental breakfast had something gluten-free. The pool was not working on this visit. The location is just a mile from the Racino and a 10-minute ride to Bethel Woods.
The staff is friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean and TV's are a good size and they have 60 cable stations and HBO for free. The breakfast is better than average.. I stayed at the Ramada in Rock Hill, NY which is more expensive and believe me there is no comparison. Ramada's mattresses are hard as rocks.
Nice hotel next to the Monticello Casino and a short drive to Bethel Woods. I would say if your coming this way then this would be the place to stay. Nice breakfast in morning, swimming pool, exercise room and the beautiful Catskills mountains.
We arrived to Best Weatern at 1030pm to spend the night and leave for an event the next morning. It took 5-10 minutes to get greeted, no one at reception. We got our room and it was old and dirty. Went straight to sleep without using the restroom. Woke up in the morning to discover someone else's feces on the toilet seat, a dirty bathtub, and unclean bathroom. It was disgusting! I complained to the staff and showed them a picture and all they said was "you're right, that is disgusting" shrugged and said "sorry". They offered nothing else. I called the corporate customer satisfaction line and they argued with me about how they can't control their franchises and can't guarantee me my money back or resolution from their "partners." Unbelievably disappointing experience. Let me be clear, I was not expecting the Ritz experience for $112 a night, but a clean room WITHOUT SOMEONE ELSES FECES is a reasonable expectation. I will never do business with Best Western again!
This is your average rural hotel that does the job. Nothing more nothing less. Would stay here again. Room seemed clean and included breakfast was nicely done. Checking in was fast however on checkout it took a while for someone to come to the front desk.
Nice people although rooms a little old, breakfast convenient to have although not the healthiest, nice to have separate sink, although in foyer and can wake another up if needed to use , Could have used an iron
While checking in I was told they did not honor AAA discount!!! Person at the desk said she would check with manager. Never heard anything back from them about that, but, just got the bill and they did honor the AAA discount. I also received someone else's receipt upon check-out - did not notice until I arrived home. All in all, the room was lovely, except for the sliding door to the balcony. Almost impossible to slide open or closed - needs some work. I believe the maids must be aware of it, because they left the screen door part open .... But, the room was clean and neat and had everything one would need.
Overall a nice hotel. Rooms were clean, very spacious. Housekeeper was very helpful. She got us everything needed without hassle. Location is a plus! Better than other options in this area. I will stay here again if needed. Thank Yiu
The hotel was fine in general. Staff approachable and professional. Room was ok, could use an update. Front desk very helpful. Breakfast was ok, have had more extensive buffets at other Best Westerns, but did the trick.
We stayed one night only because it's only a 15-minute drive to Bethel Woods Museum. Comfortable, good service and location. There are a couple of restaurants at a walking distance which was convenient for us.
Positive: Rooms are spacious and clean. One of the housekeeper went out of way to help me. In fact all the employees were very helpful. Location is excellent. Breakfast was adequate. Lots of choices I will stay again when in area. Negative: Bathrooms were too small. Sink outside the bathroom.
Good, comfortable clean location. I have stayed here twice in the last two years. Rooms are excellent. The pool looks nice but I did not go in. Location of the pool is really nice. Inside and close. Very comfortable.
The room was clean, staff was friendly, the whirlpool bath was great, and breakfast was good. The only thing I would change is the coffee brand, it was not the worst but definitely not the name brand coffee I love.
I was here to go to the holiday mountain and my stay was really pleasant. My kids enjoyed the amenities. Rooms are clean and spacious. Staff was helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family.
I often come to Monticello for business purpose and always prefer to stay at this hotel. It's very close to exit and close to good restaurants. Hotel is very clean and staff is very professional. Always ready to help.
I originally wanted to save a few bucks and go to the super 8 just down the road it was nasty dirty no breakfast and nothing felt clean was very unhappy there the whole time. Every trip since that has been very pleasant I get a full breakfast very large and spotless room it's very relaxing and enjoying. Jenn is always a pleasure along with the rest of the staff whom I have met. I look forward to my next get a away as soon as I'm home from the last.
Loved the facility. Will return. Front desk clerk very helpful. Dominica is helpful and courteous. Made sure room was taken care of. She made right on issues. Very helpful. Always smiling and is great at her position.
My husband booked this hotel as a surprise for our wedding anniversary. I have to say he did pretty well! First of all, the staff was INCREDIBLE. The young gentleman who checked us in was very helpful, down to helping us figure out where I could get my medicine that I left at home and giving us very detailed directions to Wal-Mart (from which we of course emerged with WAY more than my medicine!) And Nanette, the young lady who checked us out, not only looked up the two places that were on our "must" list, but even printed out directions to both of them for us! She also verified that we are getting our Best Western Rewards for this stay. I'm not sure what other people are saying about the town; at least where the hotel is seemed safe to us, and I'm very sensitive to that. Parking near the main entrance is at a premium; however, there is a side entrance, and if you know about that, it's a lot easier to deal with your luggage. We asked for a late check-out; no problem to check out at noon. Only issue I had was we did get a knock on the door at 11:30 am, but I just said we had a noon check-out, and we were fine. We started leaving the room shortly after noon, and were told we were fine; absolutely no hurry. We've been finding lately that simply asking for late check-out is all we need, and haven't had a problem since. Room was clean. TV was HUGE, and very nice. More premium channels than most hotels (still wish they'd get Hallmark Channel!) Mini-fridge and a microwave - saved a ton of $ on eating out, as we were able to get ourselves a couple nice meals and dessert at Wal-Mart. Room was handicapped accessible as requested - grab bars by the commode and the tub; the tub was probably one of the safest as far as the bars go. Yes, the decor is dated, but if we wanted to pay for carpet, drapes, and a bedspread that aren't goldenrod and brown, we'd go somewhere else. And pay a lot more. We were honestly just there to sleep, so the color didn't bother us at all. Now, what's making me make this a 4, not a 5 rating: there were 3 dead bugs on the bathroom floor. I was able to pick up two of them, but one was under the sink and I just couldn't reach it. I didn't notice them until a few hours before we checked out, so I reported it when we checked out. Nanette was very sweet and apologetic, assuring me she would let housekeeping know. I'm sure had I noticed it the night before that someone would have taken care of them for us. The bedspread had weird little "pulls" in it - kind of like a cat had been clawing at it. Again, no biggie, but definitely worth a mention. Also, I found several items of clothing in the top drawer of the dresser, obviously left behind by a previous guest. I did bring it to the front desk around 1:00 AM when I found it; the clerk at that time didn't seem as concerned as I was that they be returned to the rightful owner (it was a dark gray/black sweater, black cami, striped shirt/blouse, and a couple other items. Room was 121, in case the person who left them happens to read Trip Advisor!) The walkway from the side parking lot was taped off; fortunately, there is a small ramp to the left of the stairs that I was able to use. As seems to be the case, there are only 3 handicapped parking spaces. Not kidding that we missed out on getting the last one by about 5 seconds - we were about to pull away from the entrance when my husband let another car pass - and they got the last handicapped space. This was before we knew about the side entrance; we'll know better next time! One more thing: there was either a power outage or "blip" at some point during the night. We woke up to the clock blinking. There is no battery back-up for it. If you need to be up at a certain time, set your phone alarm or ask for a wake-up call, just in case; don't rely on the alarm clock in the room. All in all, we're planning a trip back to the area in a few weeks, and we're definitely planning on staying at Best Western Monticello at that time. Hopefully we'll be able to use the pool and enjoy the breakfast next time. The price was more than reasonable, especially for the time of year.
We stayed in Monticello after hiking in Mohonk and finding the nearby hotels to be too expensive. The Best Western is very close to Bethel, so anyone who wants to go check out Woodstock or the surrounding area is about a 10 minute drive. It's also walking distance to the casino. That being said, Monticello is....not great. The hotel itself seemed secure enough, but I've heard horror stories from other patrons. The rooms were decent enough. It's a Best Western, you know what you're getting. The bed was extremely firm, but there was a comfortable couch in the room so I guess it balances out. They had a very nice selection of TV channels (including 4 ESPN channels, 3 MSG channels and 2 HBO channels) which is good because as I said, you're not going out in Monticello at night except for the casino. Our room had a whirlpool tub which was unexpected and quite nice, though for some odd reason the bathroom light was incredibly noisy when it was turned on. Breakfast was complimentary and was your standard hotel breakfast fare. There was also a pool and sauna that we did not take advantage of. The hotel was good enough for the price, but the only drawback is Monticello. I'd recommend the hotel, but not the area.
We stayed here for one night just to have a little fall getaway and visit Bethel Woods. The hotel offered a very good price for a nice sized room that was clean. The decor desperately needs updating, but that is not that important to me. The location is very convenient. There are several decent restaurants just up the road for dinner or lunch. The room and was clean, and the beds were very comfortable. There is a small indoor pool and a tiny gym. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was a minimal continental breakfast, but we opted to go to the cute diner down the street. My cousin stayed here during the summer, and payed twice as much as I did. I don't feel that would have been worth it, but I felt we had a decent stay at a reasonable price.
Stayed at this hotel 1 night while passing through. Pleasantly surprised. Room a little outdated but it was clean. Free breakfast was terrific. Friendly staff. Great place to stay for the price. Close to Bethel Woods Museum.
My wife called here to request a large suite, and specified that we are a large family comprised of 2 adults and 4 kids, ranging in age from 6 to 12 years. The reservation specialist confirmed our large party, and reserved a suite for us that had a queen-size bed, a two-person sofa bed, and another sofa large enough for a child to sleep on. They also offered to bring us a cot if needed. Our reservation was for one night, Saturday, October 8, 2016. When we arrived there, the woman at the desk insisted that we pay an extra $20, claiming that our reservation was for only 2 adults and 2 kids. We explained that we did in fact reserve the room for 2 adults and 4 children, but she didn't want to hear it. She wouldn't let us stay there without paying, and given it was late and we arrived to the hotel after a 3-hour drive, we paid the extra amount but complained that we wanted to speak to a manager in the morning. We got to the room and it was mostly a nice room with ample space. The extra sofa that supposedly was large enough for a child to sleep on was very small though, and our son ended up sleeping on the floor. We also had to go back down to get extra blankets since they didn't provide the in the room. The next morning, we left at 8am and the manager was still not present. We checked out and the same woman that checked us in late the night before was still there. Ironically she was having a problem with another guest who was furious and asking to speak to a manager. Since the manager wasn't there, the situation started to escalate and we just left without adding to the confusion. We never had our billing problem resolved, and so we ended up eating $20. There aren't a lot of hotel options near hear, so if you have to stay in there area it's impossible not to at least consider this place. I could never recommend them though, and feel they are a "nickel and dime" kind of place that isn't truthful about their pricing. We come to this area frequently, roughly once per month, and thought this hotel might be a good alternative option for us. We usually stay at another place, but they don't have suites and the rooms get a bit small for a family our size. The customer service is better at the other hotel though, so I think all things considered we will return to our original hotel. $20 isn't a ton of money, but I felt we were treated unfairly and unprofessionally, and it left a bad taste in our mouths.
Recently stayed 1 night to attend a concert at Bethel Woods. Hotel was as described, clean, rooms were spacious and quiet. Shuttle from the casino about 1/2 mile down the road was the best way to get to the concert venue. Check in and out was a breeze, staff was attentive. Would recommend this hotel.
There are not many options in Monticello so we had to stay here. The hotel is adequate, but I wouldn't recommend it. The room and bathroom decor are old. There was a hole in the wall in the bathroom; the toilet was wobbly and the electrical outlet by the bed was broken. Room had an old smokey odor even though it was a smoke free room.
We arrived very late, but lobby staff was very friendly and informative. Room was clean and seemed updated, but the bathroom needs desperate help. The rubber bathmat had mold on it, and the caulking on the shower surround was black and peeling. It was awkward having the sink in the bedroom. Breakfast was standard hotel style, but I was grateful not to have to drive somewhere else.
Other than being one of the closest hotels to the Bethel in the Woods facility and the raceway/casino there is no reason to stay here at this outdated hotel. I have stayed at other Best Western locations and this one is disappointing. The previous guests belt was lying on the floor, clearly visible, when we entered the room. Housekeeping is obviously lacking. Would look for another place to stay if I return to the area.
My fella and I are here as this is the closest hotel to Bethel Woods Performing Arts Centre. We had come to see Don Henley....and he was great! The hotel has a pretty gloomy lobby, and the rooms are rather dated, but it has something that trumps any other location... A SHUTTLE that runs from the casino across the street to the concert venue! FANTASTIC!! For $10 each, we caught the shuttle an hour before the concert and afterwards we took it back...in and out and back to the hotel in 40 minutes...man, we wouldnt have been able to get out of the parking lot in that time. Best money spent EVER!! so, the hotel may only be a three star, but that Shuttle raises it to a five.
Arrived to 6 men talking and passing beers from coolers across the three front balconies. Thought this might get old fast, and staff were accomodating in moving me to other side of hotel (albeit in room without balcony). Good aspects of room: a decently sized work table, fridge, microwave, and good wifi (no charge). bed was ok. pillows were good. decor was atrocious. Poor aspects of room: no toiletries at all, irritating pole bar instead of closet, sink in the room. Hotel decor poor, breakfast very poor (bruised bananas, fake yogurt, cold egg stuff, sugar cereal, bad coffee, bulk-purchased sugar pastry, and breakfast room too depressing to sit in. i had 2 night reservation but told them i would leave at 3 on second day. front desk reaction: ok. check out then. overpriced for mediocre version of mediocre chain.
Hotel is clean and Staff is pleasant. The breakfast needs upgrading though. Eggs were cold, some of sausages were ice cold(frozen) as I took bite to those I put on plate. Pillows were too soft for me.
Spent the night at this Catskill gem, clean comfortable room. friendly staff central location. no hassle stay. parking included just steps away from the heart of Monticello NY. three stars will come again
You can definitely tell there were certain things that were outdated but I didn't care for two night's stay. Hotel was very close to highway. Bed was comfortable, room was clean, staff was nice, breakfast was sufficient. I had hot water. Room was well-equipped with amenities. Isn't that really everything you need anyway? The only complaint I had was that I can actually hear people using the blowdryer in their rooms and sometimes talking, but that was on the first floor. Second floor was much quieter.
Stayed for a week and had no problems. The staff was very nice and helpful. Rooms where clean service was good... Close to all. Had a very nice stay. Loved the diner next door Tilly's. Was my second time staying at this hotel and would definitely Stay again.
This hotel is very much in need of a remodel. I have linen closets bigger than the bathrooms. If you are an average size person good luck with the toilet and shower. The bedding is a throwback to 1960 and the pillows are lumpy and uncomfortable. The AC units in the room can not keep up with the summer heat and humidity. The desk has no plugs so what's the point of having a workspace if you can't plug in? I would look to stay out of town as a good night sleep is worth a few minutes drive. This review is from my second stay and I'm done with this place.
We stayed from Sunday thru Monday , good rates , nice indoor pool and clean and comfortable room. Jennifer at front desk is very professional . Well recommended . It is in very good location , right near race track and gas stations . Room service is also excellent
Spent a weekend at this hotel while in the area for a concert at Bethel Wood Center for the Performing Arts. Nice hotel, clean, quiet, comfortable. Nice pool. Lobby and rooms are recently renovated. Staff is very courteous and helpful. They had great recommendations for things to do and restaurants. I highly recommend this hotel.
I am sorry to have to write this review but I want to save anybody from the horrific ordeal we suffered. We stayed in room 127 ground floor and yes there was bed bugs. We was in the area for the weekend to collect our child from camp Checked in room seemed clean. Very tired and musty smelling but clean with hot water which was all we needed for the weekend. However woke up at 3am to my husband saying he has been bitten and he has just killed a beetle. We are English bed bugs are not a real problem there, so he actually had no idea what one was. I jumped up and said its bed bugs and immediately called front desk and told them. My husband has been bitten and killed a bed bug. The woman said we have no more rooms. I was like what should we just jump back in bed with the bugs??? She said you can try get another hotel. I asked if she is actually kidding ( and if there was other hotels I wouldn't of been at this one in the first place) She came to our room and was dumb found and didn't quiet know what to say about the the dead bug. She said she could move us tomorrow and removed the bug and sheets. She apologised about 20 times and we could tell she felt sorry for us. She brought fresh sheets and we lay on them on the sofa twitching until the morning. In the morning the assistant manager called and said she has heard about the problem. She said there is a room on a higher floor I said I just want a room without bugs. She explained they don't have bugs as they have a pesticide company come to the hotel monthly I told her. If they don't have bugs how did my husband get excessively bitten? How did he kill one and then we found a bed one under the mattress that is welcome to come and inspect! Clearly there is a problem hence a pesticide company is needed and it clearly is not a very good company! Hence there are bed bugs The room upstairs was a little better. Didn't smell as musty looking back the room 127 was a bed bug haven with its smelly carpets and damp smell. Over the next few days the bites inflamed and irritated my husband there was around 30. It was heart breaking to see him suffer. I know in the UK I would report this kind of problem to a health authority however I have no idea who to report this to in the U.S. I hope this review helps others not suffer.
We always stay here when the Boy Scouts go to ten mile river and it is worth the money. Everything was clean and everything worked. It was a nice place with nice people working there. We always go back there
Enjoyed a 4th of July weekend at the hotel, including a front row view of fireworks (on July 3rd) from the balcony. Helpful and kind staff and a pleasant stay overall. Appreciated refrigerator in room.
The hotel was very clean and appeared to be well maintained. Nice that there was a great family restaurant and a diner within short walking distance. Staff was very friendly. An easy 15 min. drive to Bethel Museum.
Came here on family trip to visit Woodstock. Very average hotel. Rooms are in need of an upgrade. The room I stayed in was musty smelling. Disappointed that the swimming pool closed at 8 (very disappointed kids). Staff was friendly and breakfast was average.
The good: nice size. Had a fridge and microwave, a big plus for us. Nice front and drive up. nice lobby. Friendly and helpful staff.Comfortable bed.Easy on and off route 17. The not so good: door to bathroom was hard to open. Sink was slow to drain . The toilet paper was not refilled for my second day. I was left with a partial roll. Overall a nice and pleasant stay but I don't understand why any hotel would not invest a few dollars to make a it much better place!
The perfect location and Hotel for any event in the area - esp Bethel Woods Arts Center. This is a perfectly situated Hotel that is clean, friendly and I think reasonable - I will go back there for next show
My wife and i stayed at this mess of a hotel for a concert. We stayed there no longer them 10 mins. when we walk in it looks like a throwback to the 60's. The design and furniture was dated. Once we checked in and proceeded to our room we noticed the pool that was so small with hardly any chairs or lounges to sit or lay on, they should fill it in and make it a game room. Once we opened the door to the room it smelled like cigarettes, as usual, people don't listen to rules about smoking. With that, there was dirty cover sheets on the bed, the bathroom was a mess and we had to get out of there. Do yourselves a favor. Right down the road in White Lake NY there is a hotel Inn that is so nice that I am going to be writing up a great review of that place once I finish this cesspool of a hotel review.
My daughter attends a summer camp nearby and hotel options are a little limited. I had a very positive experience with this Best Western. The staff was professional and welcoming. Everything was clean. There was good attention to detail in regards to keeping the lobby clean. In the morning there was a small breakfast available and that area was also clean and well presented. If you are looking for a decent hotel to stay while traveling this is a nice option.
We stayed here for one night when picking up our son from Scout camp. It was clean, comfortable and had a very good location. The front desk clerk, Laddy, was very gracious and guest oriented. The breakfast was good and the staff was consistently monitoring the dishes to make sure that the area was clean and that the offerings were well-stocked. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
In Monticello, this Best Western appears to be the only choice. That isn't bad; however, the place is getting worn. Ample free parking. Place is clean. Nearest competition is in Liberty or a recently opened Ramada 10+ miles south. Breakfast is OK with attentive help. Each year we visiting relatives in the area we stay at this facility. It is OK considering your choice is limited!
This hotel is nice, clean, well-run, and frankly the best in the area. This area of New York has a lot of very old and shabby (or out of business) hotels and resorts. The places available were few and far between. I found the staff very helpful with everything. The breakfast is continental, but what they had was fine.
Let me start by saying I'm extremely fussy about clean linens & scared to death of bringing bedbugs home, so I inspect before we open our bags. I'm happy to say that our overnite stay on July 8, 2016 was uneventful… Check-in was quick and the check-in people were very friendly. If you have a handicapped member, you'll need to let them off at the door as the entrance is on an incline from the front parking area. Our 2nd floor room was either quiet or we just lucked out with quiet neighbors as the hotel was fully booked for 2 camp drop-off and the event we attended which was a sold-out venue at the Bethel Woods Center for Performing Arts (Steely Dan/Stevie Winwood) so there was not a hotel room anywhere for those who didn't book well ahead, as we did. I feared booking a room with just 3 stars but thanks to the reviews here, I jumped on a booking when I saw another guest pronounce the rooms "clean". I can vouch for that as I smelled the towels & sheets & all smells slightly of bleach, which is what I had hoped to smell. The beds were comfortable and there was a larger than usual LG flat screen tv in the room. The a/c worked great. We didn't use them, but the room also had a small fridge and microwave. The bathroom was barely adequate & the only bit of negative I can share; the toilet was so low to the floor (I'm 5'9") and nothing to hold onto to for any support should you need a boost up or down (I have lousy knees). There was a shim under the front edge of the toilet, but at least they noticed it and fixed it, albeit temporarily. No wobbles. There were 2 toilet paper holders, side by side, but one had hardly any paper left on it and that bothered me a bit but huge deal. Would be nice for housekeeping to do everything for the next guest not to be reminded that the room was used before them. (may sound odd but one doesn't want to be reminded of this fact, right? Or is it just me?) The showerhead had good water pressure which I so appreciate. But the tub itself felt a but on a downward slant when standing under the spray. Also had a bit of give so I didn't feel too secure in there. Upon entering the room, I noticed that one of the washcloths in the basket near the sink had been removed and left on the counter as if someone had used it? Hard to believe housekeeping could had done that but maybe she was rushed to prepare our room, considering the toilet paper roll and also the fact that one of the beds (thin) spreads was wrinkled as if someone had been sitting/lying on it before our arrival. There's a nice continental breakfast from 7-9 am consisting of scrambled eggs, sausage, make-your-own waffles, muffins, bananas (nice & yellow with no bruises!), cereals, yogurt, bagels, english muffins, pastries, orange juice & apple juice from a machine, and probably more I missed. And a seating area with tables. Very nice. We didn't use them, but there was an indoor pool & exercise room (weight lift machine like a Boflex, eliptical machine, recumbent bike, treadmill & leg machine that push against with your legs. There were also a few arcade machines that looked like much fun. There is a vending area with good selection of snacks & candy. And there was a coin-operated laundry room! So you really have about everything a traveler could ask for. I do think they could improve their housekeeping part of the experience by making sure both toilet paper rolls are new/fresh, beds are wrinkle-free & double-check the basket of toiletries (Pantene combo shampoo/conditioner, Body Lotion & 2 soaps with 2 washcloths). Other than those minor things, all was very good. A bit above "adequate" in my book! I left relieved in knowing I had a clean room, as I've gotten to the point where all I truly care about are bugs and clean linens when staying in a hotel. If you are looking for 5-star luxury, this is not for you. If you want clean, bug-free, with good amenities, then book it!
We stayed for only 1 night while attending a family party in Smallwood. I paid $200 for one night, but I assume it was due to the time of the year. I was expecting worse with the room, but I honestly thought the room was great. It was a little musty, but clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming. I would stay there again if I visit Smallwood again.
3-day cancellation policy, was not made aware of ahead of time. Booked less than 3 days in advance. Had to cancel, card charged for one night regardless. Was tax-exempt, tax charged anyways. Was unable to get ahold of a manager for a whole week, with repeated calls and messages left. Front desk staff unhelpful.
We always stay here at the Best Western when we come for our concerts at Bethel Woods. Staff is alway friendly. Always has a smile on their face. It's close to the casino for either gambling or just getting our Big V Bus to the concert. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.
The hotel is located directly across the road from Monticello Raceway and Casino. It is about 20 minutes from Bethel Woods home of the original Woodstock Concert. The site now houses a great Museum and Concert Venue. The location makes this perfect for tourists to both the casino/raceway and concerts. The hotel has a unique shape - sort of a Y. It is odd how you get to the hotel from the main road; could use better signage. You need to turn at the light before the hotel. However, coming from the raceway or Bethel Woods it is easy to turn right to the hotel.
the whirlpool was dirty with a scum ring. The rug had nail clippings all over it. The bathroom plumbing was leaking from the showerhead out of the enclosure. The bathroom hester was noisy and had a burning smell.
I had business in the area over the course of about 5 months. Every time I stayed here and I would come back for any future trips. The rates are excellent and the rooms are cozy. The staff is friendly and several remember my name. In ten stays, I have had some minor issues, but the staff was able to take care of them immediately.
I have been visiting this place for years now and I would say this is the best place to stay in this area. Hotel staff is very welcoming and so are the rooms. Rooms are clean and spacious. Vanity is outside the bathroom which first I thought was not nice but seems now I have been to this place so many times, I think I now like it that way. Bathrooms are small, I wish they took some part of the room and added to the bathroom. But hotel itself is yes. Good breakfast- you will not need to spent time and money eating breakfast elsewhere. Town is very depressing, restaurant next to this hotel is good as well. So don't waste your time looking elsewhere...I would say this is best choice.
Because area hotels, including the brand Hotels we typically stay at were booked solid, we were limited to very few options. Took a chance on the Best Western, and it came through. The grounds and overall hotel condition were tidy, and well kept. The rooms were clean and accommodating with mini fridge and microwave. The room did have a touch of dating in it, and the bathroom was small and dated as well. Overall, the price was good, the overall environment was clean, and the last minute choice and limitation was not an unpleasant one that I had expected enroute to the Hotel. For that, being a "budget hotel", I have to give it a 4. Safe, clean, and friendly staff.
We chose the Best Western in Monticello because of its proximity to Bethel Woods Art Center and it did not disappoint. The rooms were clean and spacious, there was even an indoor pool for the kids to swim in before dinner. Definitely a good choice, we would do it again.
I was visiting family in Monticello as i searched for a gotel i found there were not many choices. These seemed like the closets one to my families home and I rather stay at a B.W rather than a motel type.. The BW Monticello was excellent It was clean, quite and the beds were comfortable enough for a pregnant lady. The pool was small but really clean and it was also heated which was perfect because outside was still a bit chilly. The front desk staff was really friendly. The breakfast room was clean. They have yogurt, muffins, bagels, waffles, bacon and eggs, and toast.. You get a choice of coffee, apple juice, lemon flavor water and so on. Check out was fast.
Not many choices around Monticello but these folks don't seem to take advantage of the scarcity. The room was clean, the bed was comfortanle, TV choices were adequate, internet was a bit slow for power surfing but fast enough for my needs. Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. Only down side was breakfast, which was very basic but adequate. I would recommend it.
Spent the weekend in the Catskills and took advantage of this hotel location and amenities. Which included a decent breakfast buffet and clean indoor pool, the receptionist was very nice and the night auditor was extremely professional and helpful. The room was very comfortable and extremely clean , I highly recommend this hotel.
if you are planning to stay ay the best western in moticello n.y. you will find it a good a stay as anywhere.....great staff and comfortable with great surroundings......bethal woods is down the highway as well as some fine places to eat and shop.....the views are pretty good as well,,,,dont forget to enjoy the indoor pool .....
Very clean. Very friendly staff. Awesome breakfast and dinner buffet. In a nice location. Walmart. Wendy and McDonald's nearby. Hot tub on location. Didn't check it out though. Not surprise though. Quiet room and was able to get on wifi without a glitch
I have stayed here a number of times while looking for a summer home. Its convenient and clean. The Staff especially Laddy have been very helpful. Bonus Colosseo Family Restaurant next door has good food and you can walk to it.
Spend a weekend at the hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are adequate but clean. Small indoor pool and exercise room. Continental breakfast included. Best of all the choices in the area. Close to the racetrack and casino.
raced 1 horse Wednesday 2 on Thursday so stayed at best western right across the street from the racetrack.its about 30 dollars more then the rest of the motels in the area but worth it.had no problems staff friendly .breakfast included which was what you your expect just ok.
I stayed here on a 4 day trip to town of Monticello. I was on a business trip. The hotel is decent, clean and newly renovated, you will not regret your decision. The location is very convenient...walking distance to almost everything...some chain stores are couple minutes of driving from here. Talking about the rooms, they are big...front desk clerks were very helpful and accommodating.
I liked the place very much. Everything was clean and the place is well maintained. Great place to go and rest. I will come back on summer time with the family. The hotel has a great location, restaurants, stores, gas station, everything is very accessible.
I really enjoyed the stay. I was very comfortable and relaxed. I used the pool and sauna. Worked out in the exercise room. Streamed on my chromebook. Bought snacks and had breakfast. I made coffee in my room.
I was here on a business trip. Hotel is kept clean and same with the rooms. Ask for rooms in the front side rather than being in the back. Vanity is outside the bathroom which I like but the bathroom is very tiny. Size of the room is amazing... Liked the big screen TV Pros: Breakfast Cons: Tiny Bathroom size
Hotel is nice and clean. Nothing to complain about. Loved the warm pool. Staff was very helpful. Hotel looked like its recently renovated. My hair dryer was not working as when i called them it took them less than 2 minutes to bring me a new one. Thanks
I stayed at this hotel on my way to Niagara Falls for family visit.... Nothing extra ordinary about the hotel, nice location great staff and clean rooms. I had som special requests which they did there best to get me the items I needed... My son is allergic to certain food items and it was really nice of breakfast attendant to get me the items I needed and I appreciate that. Rooms are huge in size- rooms with 2 beds are perfect for family with 4. Close by restaurant suggested by front clerk was great too... Very good food.
I go to Monticello at least 3 times a month for many years now, there is nothing exceptional about Monticello itself, it is beautiful at times specially when you are visiting there in falls or during snow. Lot of activities going on during summer time but year around nothing much, they do have skiing in this area during winter. Talking about the hotel, I will say don't stay anywhere else as Broadway is pretty rundown and scary and rest of the other hotels are on Broadway. This hotel is clean, renovated....Breakfast was good lot of choices Wi-Fi is excellent. Employees are very helpful too! I think only issue is small bathrooms as mentioned by other travelers. Ask for rooms with front view on 2nd floor.
Best part about the hotel is that it is close to everything, close to exit, close to restaurant and gas station and specially casino. Hotel had few amenities out of which pool was best. GYM was good too actually. On the rooms side, room was pretty huge, nice and clean...my room had 2 beds although I just requested something with 1 bed but they did not have it...Bathroom size is small but other than that everything was just perfect. Staff was accommodating in every manner
I have been staying here every week 1 day as I work in this area. Front staff is very nice and helpful. Rooms are huge. Bathrooms are pretty small. Like the new large screen televisions make you feel home. Overall I will say only place to stay in this area and other hotels are dump.
rooms were clean. there is an indoor pool. breakfast buffet on sunday. Noise levels are eh... as you can hear everything in the halls because the doors are an inch from the floor. refrig, tv, microwave in the rooms. Just don't go when hunters go as they leave at 5am and you'll hear it all unless you wake up at that time also. location is easy on and easy off...you can turn right into the parking lot.
I was here when visiting my aunt in the area. Nothing to complain about, only issue is bathroom is small, other than that everything was fine. Rooms were clean, employees are helpful. sink is outside the bathroom which was convenient for us. not many places have that now. Pool was nice and warm.
You can see the Monticello Racetrack and Casino from this Hotel which made this a very good stay..I was able to go back and forth to the Track/Casino a few times during my stay since it was so close. The room was very clean and so was the lobby and pool area..(Small pool located inside). The room could be even nicer if they update a few things like the bed, pillows, the bed spread and the microwave. The young lady that checked me in was very friendly and checked me in really fast,,even though I was early..There is an Italian restaurant next door and also a Diner within walking distance..I will return.
When entering the property, you can;t make a left turn into the street when coming in from the highway (rt 17). You have to go past the property and find a way to turn around towards the raceway. Don't make a left at the first light at intersection past the property, as there is no entry to Best Western on this road! Regarding the stay, once I made it in, was worth the trip. Everyone was really nice and helpful. The front desk attendant offered to change my room to king bed from the 2 queens I had reserved. This is more appropriate, as I am tall, and only 1 person in the room. Everything was clean and modern, good wifi service, and good selection in channels on the tv. Plenty of food options close by, and a fridge and microwave in the room to store and heat up left overs! This is a very good place to stay in Monticello, NY and very close to the racino, and Bethel woods concerts!
I have been staying here for couple of weeks now for work and I would say looking things around in the area- this would be the best bet. I am going to be here for another couple of weeks, pool- nice and warm as well & Breakfast is a good too.
this hotel was dirty, the rooms are dirty there was blood stains on the comforter and trash on the floor at check in. the refrigerator was leaking water on the floor and the shower was horrible. The food in the breakfast area was also horrible.
The place seemed to be cleaner than my last stay, not that it was dirty then. There are alot of plusses and only 1 minus here. The bathroom is SMALL. I'm a short guy 5'6" and i had to sit on the toilet cockeyed because the placement of the toilet paper holder makes it impossible to sit on it straight. The shower head in the tub was about neck high. The beds were comfortable and the place seemed to be well run. The free breakfast stuff was standard run of the mill stuff. I stay here about once every year and wouldn't consider staying any place else in Monticello.
We went to visit our Aunt in Monticello for the Easter Spring Break. At the last minute, we decided to stay the night. She suggested a this hotel as it was decent for the area. However, when we walked into the lobby, they were actually breaking up the tile floor in the Front Desk area. It was so dusty and loud. The breakfast area tables has dust on them from the remodeling too. You'd think they'd keep the area door closed to maintain cleanliness, but the back door was thru the eating area. Therefore you had men working and coming in and out of that door. I thought, this is Easter weekend.... Spring Break for God's sake! Who thought this would be a great weekend to start that Remodel Project!!
The staff at this hotel is very nice. It is easy access on and off Route 17. Hopefully, they will add some more substantial blankets for the winter months though! The breakfast was pretty standard, but fine. The main thing is that they need some additional seating for the breakfast area.
Good stuff, low price, and comfortable. We did not try the pool ofr gym but im sure they were adequate, the thing is that we were not there for the hotel but we were comfortable and secure there. Im sure a traveler will be happy at this location.
This was placed perfectly for my travel plans from wedding to being near bus station. Everything I needed was at this motel. Wifi was extremely quick which was appreciated. Will stay here again for next family function. We has two rooms adjacent and internal adjoining doors which was useful. Beds comfortable. Price was very good.
No complaints here. Hotel was very clean and serviced its purpose for a short one night stay. Being originally from this area I can assure the tripadvisor viewers that this is the best hotel for this area. Very close the the racetrack and close proximity to the areas offerings
Monticello is famous for its Monticello Raceway which attracted people from all over the northeast in its heyday. Now the Raceway has turned into a racino, hosting electronic slot machines as well as horse racing. Just seven miles (11 km) away from the Raceway is Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival. An auto racing circuit, Monticello Motor Club, is also located nearby. The Stay at Bestwestern Monticello NY is best suited if you wish to explore this region.
Spent a night at this hotel while in the area for a concert at Bethel Wood Center for the Performing Arts. Nice hotel, clean, quiet, comfortable with courteous staff. I highly recommend this hotel. The fact that there is a shuttle to Bethel Woods from the casino just down the street makes it the ideal choice for such events.
Disappointed because on my last day I made a wake up call for 6:45AM as I had an 8:30AM meeting in another town. I never received the call and if my husband hadn't woken up I never would have made the meeting, as it was I was 1/2 late and was humiliated. I will never stay at this hotel again. I asked the check out clerk why I didn't receive the wake up call and he said he forgot. Very unprofessional.
